AHS has gone down the tubes. They have denied my claims at least 3 of the last 4 times I have used them. All over a technicality. My blower motor on my Furnace was not working properly, it caused the airflow into my house to be very weak. I put in a claim, paid the $100 service fee. The technician who came out said everything is working fine, but recommended the blower motor be replaced because it was vibrating and rattling. But because he didn’t put due to normal wear and tear, they refused to cover it.
Now I’m sitting at home out $100, and an AC that is not fixed. I reached out and demanded I talk to a supervisor, they gave me the run around and told me report said everything was working. Well, when your house only cools down 1 degree in a 12-hour period of being on, I don’t think it is running good. This has happened multiple times. Then each time I talked to somebody different, they say something different. As if I’m being lied to. They are a scam artist company who will just take your money and pick and choose what they want to pay for. Half of them don’t even speak English very well so it’s difficult to understand. Avoid at all costs, unless you wanna be out $1,000 a year for no result when needed. Awful company.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

The contractor came because my washing machine shut down. He couldn’t find anything wrong with it, but he said the soap was outdated for this new washing machine, so I changed the soap and everything was okay.
I told a few of my friends and grandkids that they would be better off getting an American Home Shield for their house if they don’t have one. With one call, they came out the next day and took care of what you had to take care of. The price went up, but overall, I’m satisfied with their service.

I usually use the online portal and request a service from American Home Shield. Most of the time, it's 24 to 48 hours before I get a response from American Home Shield when they’ve assigned a company, then we have to wait for the company to get to us. So I was pretty impressed that Budget Rooter contacted me as quickly as they did. They responded the same day and repaired a leak under our kitchen sink. They’re one of the best. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been good.

A&S Plumbing came out to fix a drain leak and they were very good. In the four years that I have been with American Home Shield, I use both online and call-in options to file claims. Their customer service is generally fine and straightforward. It is occasionally problematic depending on the complexity of the problem. But on the whole, usually okay.

AHS needs to get their act together. I have two accounts with American Home Shield. On one account I filed a claim for my refrigerator and a stove. The electrician they sent to the location did a wonderful job. They were really good. However they weren't quick enough because the company and I had to call them to get them to push something through, and AHS was dragging their feet. So, the company was really good. They stood with me.
We got AHS on the phone and told them to get their act together. And they claimed that there's something that the company sent to them to get back here, but they never saw it. The company had justified, had the reference number and everything, and they wouldn't move with it. AHS just took their time. We were asking for a supervisor. They were not proactive, but I would take Certified Electrical Technologies any time and not go through American Home Shield. I would call the company myself directly. They did their part and everything they were supposed to do.
AHS’ information is not very up-to-date, and they're losing customers. And if they couldn't get their act together, somebody's going to pull them and then they're going to be sitting there looking silly.
On my other account, AHS had a company come out that was very rude, very nasty, came in with the wrong attitude, gave them false information, told them they ordered a part. We never saw the part. Refrigerator's on the blink and can't do anything, and they didn't care. And I can't deal with that. I would not recommend them to anybody. And they requested us to give them a good rating because they did the job but they were very nasty about it.
AHS needs to vet their vendors. They're not vetting them because even right before we had the electrical, we had another call for a washing machine, and nobody ever came or called us. I had to call and tell them to cancel.

This company is terrible! Do your homework before you get blindsided with poor service. In our case, we had poor customer service through ** “script readers,” that don’t care to listen to anything outside their scripts, nor do they take the time to listen to their customers and adjudicate issues. We recently had our water heater go bad. We called in and they had a plumber come out to check the system. The plumbers submitted for a replacement water heater and annotated “modifications & Labor (bundled) in the estimate for AHS.
AHS was passing on the $1K modifications/Labor fees onto us because of the word “modification.” In our case, it was to cut three copper pipes on top of the system and reconnect the pipes to the new system. In addition, they were unscrewing three screws for the standard electric cord and re-screwing the cord onto the new tank.
When we called for a supervisor to discuss our frustration, we were routed into the void-loop where nobody wanted to listen or follow-up with the complaint. AHS was content with taking our service payments all this time and thought it was best to pay $650 for a new water heater and charging all associated labor ($1,000) to us. Nothing was rerouted, added, or different other than a downgraded water heater from 66 gallons to a 50-gallon that they claimed was “efficient.” What company thinks that’s good business???
I recommend doing your homework… do not go off their website ratings. Call to see if you get professional representatives on the line when you call for support. I also strongly recommend reading your contract because there are gaps - what is written as “covered or not covered” is genetically written and AHS will pass those costs to you.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

American Home Shield has bad communication. Any time that a ticket was in, I had to be the one to come digging for answers to move processes forward. I'm under the assumption that their contractors from AirMax Heating & Cooling stole from me, and I don’t have positive things to say about them. They came out and did one service, but the appliance was still broken after they left. Then they said another repair was needed. I questioned why they didn’t say from the beginning that two things needed to be done, because I would not have paid for the first repair. I would have chosen to replace the whole system instead of paying for two separate repairs.
American Home Shield is not worth the money nor the headache. They don’t have good local support from vendors that they can just call and schedule on their own. They take shortcuts so that they don't have to pay the appropriate amount of money to have things fixed. But, when it was time for them to pay their portion, they did that. They were easy to get a hold of, but they were never proactive. I always had to go get them.

A technician from A & S Plumbing sent by American Home Shield did a great job. I like working with that technician. He's got a very nice personality, and as a picky person, if I say he's nice, he's really nice. I have had outstanding experience with American Home Shield. I got permission to go out of the network to have a water heater replaced. They told me that when it was finished, which has been quite a while, I should make a copy and send it to them. I would need a name and address where I should send the bill so it can be reimbursed.
As far as American Home Shield goes, I was a little disappointed with the job done by Air Solutions. These technicians know what's covered and what's not covered. I do property management and know how these guys work. They don’t get paid enough, so they sometimes claim something that’s not covered has to be done. I didn’t have time to verify if they were truthful.
So they said a piping in one of my properties had to be connected and quoted $600 to $650, which I felt was ridiculous. I called others I’ve worked with to compare prices. We argued back and forth. I said I would call for a second opinion. So he checked with his boss and reduced it to $300. I paid it because I had no choice, but I feel that the whole thing should have been covered. My tenant was without air conditioning in really hot weather, so I didn’t want to cash out and get somebody last minute.
I’ve been lucky because I have been with American Home Shield for many years and have contacts in higher positions, like the West Coast supervisor and the East Coast supervisor. When I have a problem that I can’t resolve, I have a number that I can call. I am happy with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield has been quite good and reliable. The only time I ever had any problem at all is sometimes, when you first call, you get a recording but the recording isn’t what you need. But eventually, if you ask for a representative, you can get one.
Recently, a contractor came out and saw right away what the problem was with our toilet. He had to wait for the part and when he came back, he put it in in about 10 minutes. It has worked very fine since then.

We had our AC and furnace replaced by American Home Shield. They first tried to diagnose the failure and rooted it to a component where fixing it wouldn’t guarantee that everything else would work properly or that it wouldn’t create long-term issues with the other components later on. So, we opted to take the credit for what would have been the repair and then apply that towards the purchase and installation of a new AC and furnace.
Our experience with AHS was pretty seamless. The only complaint I have is that I didn’t have much of an option of picking a company or going with my own and then getting reimbursed from a claim, kind of like you do with cars.
Thank you for sharing your experience with both Majestic and American Home Shield. We understand there were challenges along the way, and we appreciate those insights as they help us continue improving our service.
We're glad to hear that, despite the initial hiccups, the new equipment installation went smoothly and that Majestic's service helped rebuild your confidence. Our aim is to provide seamless and accommodating experiences each and every time. It's encouraging that you've found our app user-friendly and online requests straightforward.
Your point about flexibility and service provider selection is invaluable feedback. We are constantly working to enhance our process, ensuring it strikes an optimal balance that suits our customer needs.
We are grateful that, even amid some inconveniences, the shining moments from our customer service were recognized. Should there be anything more we can do for you, or if you'd like to further discuss your experience and how we might assist in future claims, please let us know.

Buyer BEWARE! I have had AHS for close to 2 years now. Never had I used them until recently. My 13 year old Samsung washer started making noise and smelling of burnt rubber. I contacted AHS and they sent out a local appliance repair company. The technician assessed the issue and told me that it was a broken bearing (broken component) that was causing the inner drum to hit the outer drum and cause the imbalance.
According to the AHS contract they are supposed to cover broken parts. AHS twisted this saying that it was a bent inner drum from abuse and misuse that caused the inner drum to hit the outer drum. They did this to avoid covering the cost to either repair or replace the machine. My machine was neither abused or misused. DO NOT waste your time or money with this company! In talking with one of my work colleagues a very similar situation happened to him as well. What a shame and a scam. Find another warranty company to cover you if you feel like you need one.

I have two properties with American Home Shield, and this refrigerator was my first claim at this property. My electrical panel breaker tripped. And when Right Refrigeration came out, all the guy did was plug the refrigerator up, and then left, and said it’s an electrical issue. But the refrigerator continued the trip. So, I just reached out to Whirlpool because that’s the refrigerator I have. And I just paid a tech from Whirlpool to come out and diagnose the refrigerator, and then let me know what the issue was.
So, when I found out what the issue was, I reached back out to American Home Shield, and I told them what the issue was. And for two weeks, they kept on saying that I gotta call Right Refrigeration to get them to close out the ticket or to try to get them to come back out and redo what they needed to do, but they never answered the phone. So, I had to wait a while after that. And when they finally responded, American Home Shield sent a different company to come out and take a look at the refrigerator.
The first time the second company came out, they did the same thing. They just plugged it up and said it was an electrical issue. So, when they came today, I was actually there, and I just watched them do a diagnostic of the refrigerator. So, this time, because the homeowner was there, they actually did what they needed to do. But when AHS sent the second company out, I did not have to pay another service fee.
So, American Home Shield needs to get better certified companies to do the jobs, because the back and forth would just delay the process. I put in the request July 18th. Today is August 25th. And now, everything just got resolved. So, all I wanted was a guy to really diagnose it so I could know what the issue was because it caused me to come out of pocket, spending all this money on food and things that I can’t get reimbursed for because I don’t have a refrigerator.

Marc

When I purchased this plan 2 months ago the sales person incorrectly charged me for a service my property did not qualify. I called to request a refund for the overcharge. The following month I was overcharged again. I immediately request to cancel the warranty and requested a refund. They agreed to refund me partial payment. I spent over an hour on the phone with a representative who spent most of the time trying to convince me not to cancel rather than resolving my complaint. I would not recommend this company due to their poor customer service and their failure to adequately explain the details of coverage included in each plan.

The contractor was perfectly fine, but it was American Home Shield that gave me problems. It took eight weeks before I got service on my air conditioner. I called six times and kept getting these people from another country until I finally threatened to cancel my policy. I wasn't paying $95 a month for service that I wasn't getting for two months. I have a husband with a heart condition, and he cannot be without air conditioning, and I had to go out and buy a window type air conditioner until we could get our system up and running. When the people came, I had no problem with them.
We've had this service for 10 years, and in the past, the service was quick, sufficient, and I had no issues. They've replaced a refrigerator at a compatible price, and that was fine. They've replaced the washing machine. I don't know if they've switched over their customer service lines overseas, and I don't mind that as long as I still get service. But I want to speak to Americans. We are an American household, and I want to speak to someone that can actually reach out to me and I can understand, and I don't feel as though they're going around the globe to get me a service call.
A year ago, I was getting service from someone around here, and the service people that were gonna come out called me the next day, made the appointment, and I had no problem. And that was with the same issue that I had with the condenser, and he came out right away. For the most recent service, they said he hasn't sent in his liability insurance, so they couldn’t use him anymore. That was a shame because he was very efficient, was in and out in half an hour, and I liked him.

The rep came out and looked at my dryer and microwave. From what I understand, the microwave is not covered because it’s not mounted into the wall. The rep told me he would have to order it through American Home Shield, and that took almost a month. I had to keep calling them. For the dryer, they did fix it. It’s an old dryer with no handle. I have to stick a knife in the hole where the handle used to be. The guy who came out told me he can order a handle for it. When he came to fix it, I looked for the handle part, but he didn’t have it. I’m still opening it with a knife.
The customer service on the contractor’s side was very unprofessional. Nobody answered the phone the first time I called. The second time, I left a voicemail. When they called me back, I found out they didn’t check their voicemail. After a period of time waiting, I called from my cell. They didn’t answer. I called from my work phone, and they didn’t answer either. Finally, somebody called me back on my work number. It was the same scenario. I don't want to use them again.
I let American Home Shield know about my experience, and their customer service kept it professional through my frustrations. But it’s not worth paying the price for it, just with the inconvenience of waiting.

American Home Shield is good with the service they get out here. Urban Appliances worked on the dryer. It has been repaired before by them a whole bunch of times and they replaced it. I went to Costco for it. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield, though. It’s not been good. The price I pay is not bad but the service is rough. That's why my brother said we need to go somewhere else. Plumbing had to be done and they sent somebody out here. They looked at my plumbing but did nothing. They went on the side, and said we need to tear it down to get to my plumbing. Then they called me and told me it would cost me $600 out of pocket. I knew I didn't have to because they came out before and unstopped it with a snake.
This is not the first time. I have another property and it was the same thing. We have to tear it down and go in the back, but it'll cost me money. I said, "Let me have the same company I had come over my mama's house.” I had to argue for a whole hour. The next thing you know, they came out there with the snake and unstopped it again, but then my stuff is still stopped up. A plumbing place is supposed to have the equipment to do all this, but they didn't. I know they got paid for them to come out, though.

He took a picture of the door, but I don't think he ever even knocked. There were three of us here so we would have heard the door. We were his last appointment of the day. He tried calling my phone and I tried calling him back, but it went straight to voicemail.
The second time he came, he was here for five minutes and basically told us it was the brain of the washing machine, and more than likely, we would be getting a new one. He said it would be up to American Home Shield, but he was guessing. He also told us we would probably get a new one rather than it being fixed, because the part would cost more. I was not that impressed with that guy. However, the company that came and installed the new dryer was very friendly.

American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp technicians for my air conditioner. It was cutting off and wouldn’t come on. It was hot in the house. The website is very easy to navigate for submitting claims online. The contractor who came out was great. He was knowledgeable, pleasant, and patient. He fixed what he thought was the problem, and it worked temporarily, but two days later it went out again.
I had another claim with my stove. I didn’t realize the coverage was only 30 days. Whatever was fixed by the technician went out again on the 35th day. I haven’t filed another claim yet, because if I have the technician come back again, I would have to pay another $100. I won’t do it, so I just opted to use half of the stove right now.
Despite that, the service has always been good. The technicians were all professionals. It is also easy for them to send someone out and stay on schedule. I just hope that the response time could be improved when a repaired item goes out again. There weren't any emergency visits, so we had to stay without air conditioning for five days. It would be good to have emergency slots for follow-up visits.

If it wasn't crunch time for me to renew I definitely would not. I have one year to seek a different company because I cannot continue this with American Home Shield. I don't like that they renew your plan automatically without allowing you to not renew or make changes. Just let my plan end and if I chose to go with your company again allow me to make that choice to do so. I paid in full without the representative even asking if I'd like to use the card on file or update payment method.
There are so many things will the skillet of this company and the employees they choose. The communication between the representatives or their system is nonexistent. You have to explain and constantly repeat yourself 99 times. That is frustrating and then to do all that not receive assistance. I say every year I'm sick of it and still wait to find another company. Now that is my fault. Long gone are companies who valued and are loyal to their customers.

This has to be the worst company to deal with. They are dishonest about their offering cash in lieu or replacement of HVAC systems. Their vendor has come out twice to repair our AC units and they continue to fail. American Home Shield continues to mislead us with words like is the unit serviceable which is completely discretionary from tech to tech. American Home Shield uses this practice as to not have a set term to replace HVAC units. They transfer you to different countries and none of the departments can help you, they refuse to escalate the problem and continue to give you the run around until you give up. I have called them over 20 times and each time I get sent to another Department. They will not honor their in lieu cash option. If you value your hard money stay away from this dishonest company taking advantage of customers in vulnerable positions when you have no AC in 117 degree heat here in Az. Never do business with them.
Hi Milagro,
Thank you for reaching out to us on this platform. I sincerely apologize that our air conditioning coverage did not meet your expectations.
To clarify, if your unit is still serviceable, our policy is to proceed with repairs. AHS typically considers replacement options only when the unit has completely stopped functioning.
I’d be happy to speak with you further regarding your concerns and work toward a resolution. Please let me know the best way to connect.

I've had AHS plans on homes in the past (3 to be exact, with renewals for multiple years at each). It was occasionally not the best contractors in town (or none and had to figure it out myself and get reimbursed) but, they are no longer the same company. My current plan is zero out of two on the first two claims filed. Both denied for "not normal wear and tear." The service provider doesn't say what the reason for the failure is they just don't specifically say due to normal wear and tear so it gets denied. I get it, it's a business and you can't approve things just to be nice. These are legit breakdowns though and AHS is denying to the point they are fraudulently advertising their plan coverages.
Hi Stuart,
Thank you for reaching out to us on this platform. I sincerely apologize for any miscommunication regarding your coverage. I completely understand how essential it is to have a working A/C in this heat, and I appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
I’d be happy to speak with you further about your complaint. I’ll be sending an email to the address we have on file shortly.

Have carried AHS home warranty plans for a number of years. You would think I would have learned my lesson by now in dealing with a company like this. Had a hot water leak earlier this year. Took a week to come out and fix and coverage was denied. AHS called it a "modification". Same type of hot water heater, nothing modified. Had an AC problem. Diagnosed to a leaking coil. AHS once again called it a "modification" and denied it. Now I have a water leak occurring at my property under the covered plan. Called on 7/11/25 (It is now 8/2625 by the way and still not resolved). Company took a week to send someone out. 1st plumber determined there was a leak and referred back to AHS since they could not find the source, but plumber said get a "second opinion". AHS never called me back, tracked them down and had them send out another plumber.
Took another week for that plumber to come out. Kept the water off entire time. 2nd plumber arrived, said they needed to do an "Air Test" to find the leak. AHS said not covered, although policy covers leak detection to locate repair. Escalated with AHS and was told it is in fact covered and the plumber will be dispatched. Plumber scheduled and waited at home for them to arrive. No show. Called plumber and they said AHS once again denied coverage. I escalated with AHS again. Told it was covered and expect the plumber to reach out and reschedule. Got an email on 8/7/25 saying not covered because this is "Normal Wear and Tear" and a new line needs to be ran which is a "modification". Problem is they denied coverage without even finding the source of the leak.
My plan covers plumbing, covers wear and tear, and covers under Section 5 (a) Leaks or breakages of water, gas, drains, waste or plumbing waste vent lines and pipes that occur within the Covered Home; and (b) All parts and components. A new plumber was contractor by AHS. Has come out and did a round of leak detection. Scheduled to come out today another week later to do "isolation testing". AHS once again denying coverage, this time calling it an "Act of God".
My complaint is they are using a tactic (AHS) by denying my claim by citing terms like "normal wear and tear", "Modifications", and "Acts of God" as an exclusion, even when the damage is from everyday use. While AHS plans generally cover breakdowns due to normal wear and tear, they are stating that the specific damage falls outside this definition, leaving me with uncovered repair costs. The other issue is the plumber still hasn't come out to do the "Isolation Test" to pinpoint where the leak is and if there is a need for the new line, yet I am getting a quoted cost and not even sure yet if this is the amount need. This has been the worst experience. I am done with this company. Not from this latest issue, but all of the denied claims.

American Home Shield people are very professional. They used to hire good people. Then it just started going downhill. The contractors who came for my dryer before did a wonderful job. Then, another guy came for the heating system. He said that it was broken. To me it didn’t sound right, so we got a second opinion. It ended up being something simple. He was just trying to charge American Home Shield. In another instance, a plumber came to fix the heat for the air conditioning. It was one of the two. He said that we needed a specific part. He left and never came back. We ended up calling American Home Shield again, and they tried to charge us again.
Recently, D&J Appliances came out, damaged the drum of the washing machine, and accused us of putting heavy stuff on top of the washing machine. How heavy can clothes be? Dry clothes on top of the laundry wouldn’t bend that. The washing machine is a piece of steel, a metal on top and then it’s a piece of metal separating the top from the drum. In order for us to bend the top of the washing machine, we would have to put a dent in the top of the dryer and then to the drum. None of that happened. They weren’t able to fix it. My wife reached out to American Home Shield and they said they were going to send somebody else out. I told them to send somebody else because the last ones were so unprofessional. The new contractor hasn’t come yet.

I'm not really pleased with American Home Shield because basically, they didn't try very hard to fix the problem, as far as I can tell. And I went back and forth with them for a while. Every time I have called them, I have to sit and wait on the phone for 30 to 45 minutes before they get somebody to talk to, and their website is not terrible but not really wonderful either. So, I made a request online. World Class Air came out. The project that we were concerned with was getting some ductwork rationalized up above the ceiling and then getting some insulation into place because the insulation above the ceiling was rather thin. This is an old house, and it has several sections to the crawlspace above the ceiling. Their people came out and told us that they couldn't get to the back section of this thing because there was a rather narrow opening they had to get through in order to get there. The only answer was for us to get a contractor who could cut a new hole in the ceiling in another place so that they wouldn't have to go through this narrow passageway. Well, that did not strike me as being a good answer because I had been up there, I understand. I'm 82, and I have been up there in the past, but it's been quite some time. But I did remember that I was able to get through it all right. And some other contractors we've had in here have been able to get through it. We did reach back out to American Home Shield to let them know that World Class Air had not been able to do what we wanted them to do. We didn't get much help from them. So, we went out and hired another air conditioning contractor who came in and did the work. And just yesterday, the insulation contractor came out and got heavier insulation up there including that space. They worked on that yesterday afternoon and the job is essentially done. But I did not have the feeling that we were getting much help from American Home Shield. I wasn't at all comfortable that their recommendation for somebody to do the work was the best. At least in this case, the contractor they recommended really wasn't able to do the work. And so, we ended up going out and getting it done ourselves. They really did not give us any help. If American Home Shield had been doing it properly, they would have paid for part of it. But we just ended up paying it out of pocket. We’ve been with them for three years. And they’re saying that they couldn't cover the ductwork and shortage of insulation because it was a longstanding problem and not something that had just developed. Well, we paid them to be the insurance company that would come back and help us pay for work to be done. But they didn't. So, we ended up spending more money. And from my point of view, it was a significant amount of money.

American Home Shield helped in a pinch and saved us from having to drop a lot of money on big expenses. The initial problem that we had was short cycling on our system. It was the first thing that happened. It was causing the house to get pretty warm, and the AC wasn't working.
It was not ES that came out initially, but a different company, Oasis. They switched out the thermostat, but it was still having issues getting the house to the proper temperature. We called them back. So, they came back out, and checked things.
He said everything was fine and we could call them whenever it heated up again. Because sometimes it would work, and then other times the temperature would get up to like 87 in the house. And it was super hot.
We tried getting him back, and he kept telling us that everything was fine. And then he just stopped responding to my phone calls. The issues with them were less than ideal. So, we just submitted a second claim. And that was when ES Heat & Air came up.
They came out and immediately said that it was the compressor. It was old, and not good. And they switched it out. We haven't had issues with our AC since then.
I submitted the claim through the app, and the online website for both of them. The communication was great. He was a good guy, friendly, and got down to business. I'd probably just say the fact that there's something wrong with heating and air.
AC and those types of things are usually really expensive. So, it is nice knowing that I'm not gonna have to get quoted $1,000 for a whole new unit. And usually they'll come out and just fix the problems, without having to pull out of my pocket any more than what was needed to fix.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of your AHS warranty and the service it provides. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’re here to support you whenever you need assistance.

We're pleased with American Home Shield. I came home one night, and the dishwasher had unloaded its soapy water in the kitchen. It took a while before we had an available tech, about five or seven days. Once he came out, he ran a couple of tests.
And for whatever reason, it wasn't doing what it had done that night. Obviously, you're thinking that this is gonna have to be repaired at best or replaced at worst. But he did a nice job. He told us what he was gonna do, and how he was gonna do it. And when it was all said and done, he said sorry, he can't do it.
And I said we don't necessarily need to see that much water on our floor again. Well, a lot of my appliances have to be bordering. I moved in here in November of 2005, and I've lived in this house for 20 years. It was a brand-new house, just built.
I'm still using the same washer and dryer that we bought when we moved in here. Now, let's see, TVs are different. And I replaced the microwave in the first three to four year, which hasn't been replaced since. We did get a gas range here a couple of years ago, a new stove, and a refrigerator that’s probably about five, six years ago.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of your AHS warranty and the service it provides for your appliances.
Thank you,

I’ve been with AHS since I got my first condo in California in 2003. I like that I could get someone to come out most of the time when I call. The only concern I had was when my washing machine went out years ago. I have been paying through my insurance for many years but they hardly gave me any money for this issue.
I’ve also had an air conditioner issue recently. The techs came, only to find out that I paid for somebody to tell me my vents weren’t open. But they took care of everything. They marked my unit outside so I know which one ‘cause there’s about eight out there.
Overall, AHS provides good quality service and they take care of you within a short period of time. You don’t have to wait weeks. Most of the people that come out to service are professional and they do a good job. I’ve had some bad experience where techs would say they know what they are doing but they really don’t. That’s why I wanted to go through American Home Shield because they can back up their service.
We are delighted to hear about your positive experiences with American Home Shield, especially the professionalism and excellent service of our technicians. American Home Shield sent out technicians from All Tech Air Conditioning LLC when I submitted my claim. They came out to check the initial issue and said the compressor needed to be changed and that they had to submit a report to AHS for approval. The report was supposed to be sent within 24 to 48 hours, but it took almost 10 days.
During that time, I called both sides many times. I spoke with two team managers at AHS, but they said they could not make a decision whether to reimburse me or tell the contractor to go ahead and do it until they received the report. They called and emailed All Tech twice, and All Tech never responded to send them the report on time. I also called All Tech five or six times and spoke with several people. They told me they would mark it urgent, but I don’t think they did. Once they finally sent the report to AHS, it took about three weeks to get the new compressor. During that time, it was so hot in Oklahoma—almost in the triple digits. I have kids in the house, and the house was burning from the heat.
I have been a customer of American Home Shield since 2001, and until this particular case, I hadn’t had any problems with them. In this case, I was dissatisfied because it felt like there was a disconnect with both AHS and the contractor. AHS recommended All Tech, but when I asked them, “What about if he didn't send the report? What am I going to do? What kind of solution do you have?”. I was told their hands were tied and that there was no supervisor available to talk to, and I was left waiting for All Tech to send the report. I was hoping AHS would step in and find a solution and solve the problem faster than that.
The people who answered the phone were nice, but in a problem like this, I would like to see American Home Shield have someone who can make a decision, who I can talk to, and who I can rely on to solve my problem and understand what I am under. I could not find anybody to do that.

My air conditioner stopped working, and I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield. The technician who came out explained the problem, gave me both a temporary and a permanent solution, and got it running temporarily. The service itself was fine. However, I am very dissatisfied with AHS. I have been with them for 12 years, and this will be my last year. As much money as I pay each month, the amount they paid out when I chose to go with my own contractor to get my service fixed was not even a fraction of the cost to replace the system.
Also, trying to reach someone is frustrating because I end up speaking to someone in the Philippines, and I don’t always understand what they’re saying, and we have to go back and forth. I also don’t like that it takes up to 48 hours for a contractor to call me back. I’ve had American Home Shield for 20 years since I first bought my house. I had really good experiences that I used to refer them when I worked as a Realtor. My washer or dryer broke, and that was a successful outing. When my air conditioner went out, American Home Shield helped to replace what needed to be replaced. I submitted a claim online with a garage door opener that wouldn’t go up and down. I got a text within two minutes that they're sending somebody, and those people came out that day. Because I had such good success with them in the past, I decided to get another policy. I’ve had this policy now for two or three years.
I had a gentleman come out who didn’t do anything for my dishwasher. I was very, very unhappy with him. He just opened my dishwasher and told me it shouldn’t have soap because it can’t recycle. He told me what to do to run the dishwasher. After I ran it 10 times, it wasn’t doing any better. I googled how to take out the suds, and I managed to do that. There are no more suds, but it still doesn’t go. I called and called to get someone out again, but I didn’t get anyone. I just gave up and put in another claim. Somebody did come who was very nice, looked at it, and determined that it wasn’t cycling because there was a problem with the pump. He went to order a part for the pump, but I haven’t heard back from them if they received it.
I had a little bit of difficulty figuring out how to contact customer service. It was not very obvious on the website. I ended up calling the chat line. The guy I chatted with was very nice and put me in touch with customer service. The customer service guy tried calling the company, and he said they don't even answer the phone and there’s no voicemail. He then switched me to another company.
I don’t really have any complaints with the American Home Shield directly. Their policy is reasonable. They're very responsive and helpful, except for that one company. American Home Shield should take them off their list because it was not a good experience.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost three years. I already recommended them to one of my friends. Recently, American Home Shield sent a contractor for my AC air handler. They replaced it, and now it’s working. But being a new system, the air coming through the vents is not as cold as my old system. I’m getting a lot of air in the hallway but not as much in the rooms.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your loyalty over the years and your recommendations. It’s wonderful to hear that you find our scheduling and customer service aspects convenient. We apologize that the replacement of your air handler didn't meet your full expectations with cooling efficiency. For $25 a month, I just go to American Home Shield instead of being stuck trying to figure out who to call. If something breaks, I don't know anybody that works on air conditioners or refrigerators or a dryer, and it's handy to be able to hop on there and tell them what’s going on and then they'll send somebody out to me.
My last claim was for my AC. When my air conditioner kicked on, everything outside was running and I could hear the fan blowing up in the attic, but it just didn't feel like I was getting much air flow and it was having trouble keeping up. If I set it to 76, the closest I could get was 81. The guy that came out was very nice and helpful. He was great. He found that I had low Freon charge, so he put some Freon and Stop Leak, and it's been working great since. It couldn’t have gone any better than it did.
Thank you for your detailed review-sharing experience with American Home Shield. It's great to hear that your air conditioning issue was resolved swiftly and effectively by the technician, and that you felt well-supported throughout the process. We strive to provide our members with convenient and efficient service, so it's gratifying to know our efforts make a real difference, especially for peace of mind sorting out repair needs without hassle. The fan was installed yesterday afternoon, and he did a nice job. But I don’t want American Home Shield to send All-Tex Electric here again. These people did not do their job, and they are giving American Home Shield a bad name. But it’s not American Home Shield’s fault ‘cause they did a great job.
It was Monday two weeks ago that this all started. American Home Shield notified me that All-Tex Electric would be coming and set up an appointment for Tuesday between 1:00 and 5:00. They arrived at 6:30, one had to use the bathroom to pee and the other to take a crap, which was okay, but I thought it was unprofessional. They were supposed to come back, and I called six times over a 10-day period, and it always went to voicemail. No one ever answered and I never heard back from anybody.
Wednesday a week ago, a lady left me a message to call the technician, and so I did. We set an appointment for him to come back the next Monday, and I never heard from him. I called the number again, and same thing, it went to voicemail. They sent a text to my wife saying that they would be here Friday, which was yesterday, between 1:00 and 5:00. He arrived at 4:30 and installed the fan. I don’t ever want to do business with All-Tex Electric again.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're truly sorry to learn about the issues you've faced with the contractor and faulty communication. American Home Shield is a decent company. My last claim was the freezer wasn’t working, and submitting the claim was simple. The tech that came out was nice, and he had to order some parts. But the service was lacking because they weren't responsive. A lot of times, I would have to call them to find out the status of the parts, and they told me they were still waiting for the parts. It took five days for them to come back out. But usually, they work fast and get the job done.

I’m not getting a good deal out of this. Since July 28th, we haven’t gotten anything. No one’s calling me. TCA HVAC came out, but they couldn’t do it. Then we got another technician from that place, and they couldn’t do it either. Our AC needs Freon, but it doesn’t take Freon, so you have to get a whole new unit. American Home Shield just keeps putting us off and sending different people.
We’ve been calling, and they know that nothing’s been done. They don’t follow through, and you have to fight to get what you need. I’ve been with American Home Shield for about 30 years, but it seems to be going downhill. Sometimes we can’t understand the people who call us back. I have a freezer issue. Because it was completely frozen, in order to pull it out to inspect the freezer, it broke. They said it’s my fault it’s broken, so they would not cover. They told me it will cost $350 to replace the container, when online, the same container on Amazon costs $69. I had the same issue five years ago and you guys replaced 100%. I was super happy. But right now, I have to spend my money and buy the part and drive there to install it instead of an appliance company. I’ve been a client for many years. Right now, I don’t see any point to have it. I’m very upset that their application doesn’t work.

I strongly caution anyone considering American Home Shield (AHS). I filed a claim for a broken garage door spring. My contract clearly states that torsion springs are covered. AHS’s own vendor quoted the cost of one spring at $300, yet AHS only offered me $125 as a cash-in-lieu payment. That doesn’t even cover the cost of the covered part, and I already paid their $125 service fee just for someone to come look at it.
To make matters worse, every garage door professional I spoke with — including AHS’s own vendor — said both springs must be replaced together for safety. AHS refused, leaving me to either pay hundreds more out-of-pocket through their vendor or hire someone locally. I ended up paying $395 total with a local company for both springs and adjustments, which was actually cheaper than AHS’s vendor would have charged for only one spring.
I appealed multiple times, escalated to supervisors, and even submitted a formal appeal in writing. Each time, AHS refused to honor the contract. I’ve now filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for failure to honor their warranty. This experience has been extremely frustrating and feels like a bad faith attempt to avoid paying for covered repairs. Homeowners should be aware that AHS may not honor the clear language in their contracts, leaving you to pay out-of-pocket for repairs you thought were covered.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I was with AHS for five years. The warranty seemed to help cut down on my overall costs when my A/C went out but more recently, they did NOT cover $1,500 in "upgrade" fees their contractor said I had to have to bring my water heater up to code. Getting other quotes for the heater, I found it would only cost $700-$1,300 to pay someone else in total. I also couldn't get another $1,500 covered for a fridge and range I had to replace myself. Trying to cancel was a hassle too as the representative wouldn't stop trying to "compensate" me to try to stay on, even after I told him there was no way they were going to compensate me for the $3,000 I was out. I won't ever use them again.

The first time the technician came out was diagnostic in nature. My AC wasn’t working. It was determined it didn’t make sense to fix it, and American Home Shield was gonna pay for a replacement. The first technician was awesome. He tried like heck to get it working, and had no luck because of what the issue was. The next two that came out for the install, they were great. They did what they needed to. I was happy dealing with the guys from DenPro. No problems with dealing with those folks.
I don’t know whose end this falls on, if it's on American Home Shield or the supplier they deal with. Multiple contracts went back and forth for me to sign, one, they forgot something, one, they didn’t include something else. Then we updated it. There are two units, one that goes inside and one on the outside. They were gonna be shipped on Monday. We were gonna get them Wednesday. Thursday, DenPro called and said the parts that we wanted weren’t in stock. How was it four days after the day it shipped that they finally realized that? If it wasn’t in stock on Monday, why wasn’t that disclosed so they could figure something out?
The technician said he could get one in York, but we had to do a new contract because it was an upgrade, bigger tonnage, at the same price. That was another day or two over the weekend. It just seemed like everything that was supposed to happen didn’t happen. It was a 95-degree temperature; that was my only concern. If that communication would have been a little more open, freer, cleaner, it probably would have been easier to digest.

My hot water heater quit working, and I had water leaking on the floor. I did the request for service with American Home Shield, paid my fee, and the contractor came out. He replaced it with a brand-new hot water heater after getting it approved by American Home Shield. I liked the contractor. I thought he was very interactive and professional. The only negative would have been the timeframe of how long it took. It would have been nice if it had been a day or two instead of four days, but it is what it is.
I’ve actually referred two coworkers to AHS in the last three months. I had friends who kind of laughed at me and said that I shouldn't have American Home Shield. It’s not worth the money. But when they looked at the total install cost, they realized I had made a good decision. I feel that I got my money’s worth and didn’t overpay for the value provided. It actually probably kept me with American Home Shield. For every time you see that monthly charge come out and aren’t using it, when something finally does hit, it’s worth its weight in gold.

I had an experience a while ago with an electrician that tried to scam me. He disconnected the switch and said that my house has incorrect switches. My house was only three years old and I got it inspected, so I didn’t believe him. He said I had to pay $300 for a scaffolding, so I called American Home Shield to find out what’s going on. Apparently, the company called him. He got upset and yelled at me. He wanted me to buy a fan for $100, but the fan is covered in my plan according to the company. He insisted it’s not covered. It just sounded really shady to me.
I called the company and told them the guy’s trying to scam them and trying to scam me. I complained three or four times. I asked them to send me somebody else. They ended up giving me a rebate of the service, gave me whatever I had paid, and gave me a certain amount to do it on my own. They told me that the switch and fan was covered, just not the scaffolding.
I’m upset that American Home Shield sent three people out to my house prior and none of them covered the service that my house needed. I took time off each time they came out. But after everything, I still stayed with them. I’m happy with how they handled it. They took care of my situation right away after I complained to them. They asked me if I wanna take care of it myself, and I did.

My refrigerator was not cooling on top and not making ice, so I went through the American Home Shield app, submitted a request, and paid a $125 service fee. The app was pretty simple to deal with. The fun starts when you’re waiting for a company. You wait, call the company, and if you’re lucky, they’ll answer. In the situation with Sears, I had to download their app, and their system is almost all AI. Every time I try to speak to customer service, the system would hang up on me. They made appointments two or three times a week and cancel within minutes of the appointment or past the appointment time. If I call American Home Shield, they couldn’t get in touch with Sears either, so they try to email them.
My refrigerator broke on the 8th of May. Somebody came out and changed out an evaporator or the cooling thing on the bottom. It lasted about three to four weeks. We had a death in the family, so we had to leave and were gone for a few weeks. When we came back, all the food in our fridge had rotten. We called American Home Shield the Monday of July 4th and paid another $125 because it was past the 30 days. They reassigned Sears to come back out. Again, Sears made appointments, but did not show up. My wife and I were alternating days to take off for almost two weeks before they showed up.
I was so frustrated speaking with American Home Shield. It was someone in another country because I couldn’t understand what they’re saying. But one lady said that she’s sorry that I’m dealing with Sears because nothing positive comes from getting maintenance done from Sears. She said Sears uses a third party. I asked if they can’t do something about it, and they said that there’s a process in place.
By July 25th, Sears finally came and serviced it. He charged it. The guy said that if doesn’t work again, let American Home Shield know, and they’ll come back out. The very next day, it was not cooling again, so I called him back. He came in on a Saturday and was at my house for maybe five minutes, opened the fridge door and checked. He said the leak has to be inside the walls of the fridge and it’s no longer repairable. He’ll try to reschedule me, get back to me on Monday, and tell the company the fridge needs to be replaced. I received a text message that parts were ordered. All the appointments they scheduled were cancelled. Finally, they came out the weekend of the 25th or 27th of July. The guy said they can get it fixed with the parts and they should be available the next week. Nobody came. American Home Shield then sent out a different company, a guy that’s come to my house before. He’s a little old dude, but he looks high. He spent a lot of time on the phone talking with someone.
I was so stressed out with my experience with American Home Shield that I doubled up on my anxiety medicine. My wife developed an autoimmune disease because we have not been able to eat healthy since May when our fridge broke down. I had medication that I had to put in my neighbor’s fridge. My other friend let me borrow a small freezer. But we can’t cook because we can’t store anything. It’s been a complicated hot mess. I even wrote to their executive corporate team and got a call back from a lady who was demeaning.

City First Electric came and said I needed parts and three pounds of Freon at $170 a pound. I called Home Shield and told them what was going on and asked if I should pay him. The rep said to let City First Electric submit the report and they would take it from there. I told the technician that, and he walked away and closed the ticket without doing the job. He said that I refused to pay him and I wanted to deal with American Shield. He didn’t seem knowledgeable and just wanted to get paid and leave. So I asked to get another opinion. I paid somebody from my pocket $250 to tell me exactly what was going on. He said my compressor was burned, the whole thing was bad, and not only did we need to change the compressor, we needed to change the Freon.
I told American Home Shield this, but they were not going to take his opinion because he didn’t work for them. So they sent another person. The person said I needed to change the Freon and change the compressor and that this is what they were working on. I said I was covered for everything. He said I don’t have the platinum membership, so American Home Shield would only pay $10 to cover the Freon. I was in shock. I personally did not know there is Platinum and another type. I thought I was covered, including the Freon. Every time they come, whatever they do, I never pay anything.
I called American Shield and asked them to at least cover it this time and I would upgrade. I called to upgrade to the Platinum, and they said I can only do the upgrade after a year. They were not allowing me to upgrade Platinum until after one year because I have a claim open. If I had Platinum, I would not have to pay now. This is so frustrating. I paid 100 when they sent somebody out. He was not knowledgeable. He didn’t say anything about the compressor or changing the whole Freon. If I listened to him for three pounds, it would not work and my money would go to waste. I paid my guy 250 for his opinion, and I still have to pay 2,100 for Freon.
I’ve been with American Home Shield for eight years, and I have been happy with them. Then I fall into this trap with my air conditioner. They haven’t been helpful and they’re not listening. They don’t do that and can’t do that. Now there’s no communication. I pay $188 every month, and I still don’t have air conditioning for a month now. I was sweating after I showered. It was awful. It’s so hot outside. It is hell. I talked to escalation, and they said a supervisor would call me that day or the next day. That was three or four days ago, and I haven’t heard from them. I would be lying if I say I’m very happy. I am very frustrated.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

There was some rusty-looking stuff around the base of the toilet that should not have been there. The contractors sent out by American Home Shield were nice people. But, the issue was not fully resolved. The first contractor took the toilet off, replaced a small circular part, and left. There was no liquid or water at the time. Within a couple of days, I had to call someone back. When they returned, there was a small leak at the base of the toilet, and the toilet itself rocked.
The toilet still isn’t functioning properly because they need to replace the flange. American Home Shield doesn’t feel they need to cover it, so it is costing me $525 to fix a problem caused by the first people they sent. I don’t think I should have to pay $525 to correct a problem their people caused. The plumber was supposed to come today after he got off from work at 5:00 PM, but the company said he would come between 2:00 and 6:00 PM. I am terribly dissatisfied with this particular situation because I am paying $525 for something I didn’t do, and the first person they sent did not do an adequate job. The second person has already come out once and now has to come again to fix it.
Several years ago we had a plumbing company sent by American Home Shield. The people and the job they did were horrible. American Home Shield should send me somebody that is trustworthy that will do the job and will not be a threat to me, my house, or my disabled daughter. They should also have people answering the phone and ensure those are able to speak English. You shouldn’t have to fight to just understand somebody who supposedly speaks your language. I don’t care where people are from, but I do care about communication.

We had a leak in the roof. I put in a work order request through the online portal, and American Home Shield connected me with a company. They came and assessed what was wrong. They completed the bulk of the work. There was one item that they weren’t able to complete, which was part of the package, which was the removal of a satellite dish that was causing one of the leaks. And they came back, I’d say, within five days, and finished that last part of the job.
From the pictures that were sent of the work completed and the explanation of what was wrong, I have confidence that the fix will work. But until we have that kind of next big rainstorm, once we have that, I’ll be going into the attic and looking at the places I took pictures and video of previously and looking for those same leaks to see if indeed everything is fixed. But the workmanship looks good, I just need to test it out.

AG Appliance Repair was bad. They're unprofessional. They had no idea what they were doing. First, they diagnosed it and they ordered the part. The second time they went there, they said they ordered the wrong part. The third time, they said it was missing a component. Now, American Home Shield is not covering it. How is it possible that, at the beginning, there was no missing component, now suddenly something is missing? American Home Shield didn’t do anything about that either.

I had an issue with the old fluorescent light bulbs in the basement. I changed them out, and they wouldn’t work. The guy came and had to do quite a bit of work. The wiring would not work, so he had to take out the whole light fixture and put a different kind but nothing fancy. With this issue, I was very unhappy with the customer service folks that I talked to on the phone. I called them to see if I could get this issue taken care of. They told me that if the fixture wasn’t working, that I could get it fixed. The first electricians who came out were pissed because they know it won’t be covered. There was another light that needed replaced, and they didn’t want to do that. I ended up having another electrician come out and paid $300 out of pocket because American Home Shield wouldn’t cover it.
It's been hit-and-miss with their coverage. I was told I had the top of the line, and then I found out that if there are wiring for lights that don’t work, they won’t cover it. I also had something else, a hot water heater that went out. It would have been cheaper to just go ahead and pay somebody to do it since I ended up paying $1,500 out of pocket. Because of that, I don’t think I’ll be renewing next time around.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Terri. We called American Home Shield because the dryer was making a loud noise. They made an appointment for a Thursday and gave us a really wide window from 8:00 to 5:00. One of us took off from work and waited the whole day. When we called, we just went into an automated voicemail, so we couldn’t ask where they are. Their online tool is not well-designed since we weren’t able to contact a human being to found out what was going on.
Nobody came. About five minutes before 5:00 or 6:00, we got a notice that it had been rescheduled to Tuesday without our knowledge. We wrote back that we wasted a whole day and nobody called to see if that day was workable for us. We never heard back. By the way, it was also very difficult to contact American Home Shield. They weren’t accessible to us during the whole day we were waiting.
After five days, they did come and the machine has been repaired. The whole issue is they wasted a whole day and gave us a window of a whole day again on Tuesday. The scheduling was so much of a hassle. We took two days off from work to do a 100-dollar repair. I would have called a regular repairman to come out the next day or I would have just bought a new dryer. It’s not worth it to take two days off from work for no reason at all.

The appliance repair with American Home Shield went fine. The box of the dishwasher kept falling out every time I opened the door, so they had to replace the magnets so it would stay in. The technician that came out knew what he was doing. I don't have any complaints about any of it so far. We've only used it one time and I'm very happy.

I haven't reached out to customer service other than to make the initial call and it was handled very appropriately. The price is comparable to other home warranty plans I've had, but they're just a little higher. As far as service, it seems to be equal across the board. I would recommend it.

They could have just walked to the Home Depot and bought a part in three weeks. American Home Shield said the part was there. But the contractor said the part wasn't there. Fortunately they were able to fix it the same day they came back.

The entire process with American Home Shield has been disapponting. Nussbaumer did absolutely nothing. The company came out and said they cannot do anything and if they do anything, that would be $700. And you need to pay them that day. But they can't do any service because they don't have anything in their truck.
I called American Home Shield and told them I want a second opinion. They told me what the company was, and I called directly to tell them what’s going on, and they sent whoever was the first one available. The technician said they would need to cut the pipe, which they didn’t need to. So then we went ahead with the plumber that we know, who has been working on our house before. He came out, snaked the drain for 45 minutes, and cleared the issue we were having without having to cut pipes.
I have called American Home Shield multiple times to try and see what they can do since the companies they're sending out are obviously doing everything in their power to either overcharge or not have anything done under coverage.
We've been with AHS for six months. When you call them, you cannot understand all the people you talk to because they’re all foreign people. Then they send out a company that will make an excuse for it not to be covered. It's extremely overpriced for them to basically just say, “It's not covered so you gotta pay for it yourself,” every time.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Joshua. I sincerely apologize that the issue with your plumbing was not resolved to your satisfaction with the assigned contractor. I would be happy to review the matter further and follow up with you to offer any assistance that may still be required.

Submitting the claims through the American Home Shield website was easy, but I had the worst customer service interaction. Our air conditioning was broken, so we requested them to come out and take a look at what was wrong with it. It took them forever. I called them to schedule but they said that I can’t call them to schedule me. They need to call me. After I scheduled with them for a week out, they wouldn’t give me a specific time. They only gave me a date and said that they’ll call me between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning on that day to tell me what time they might be there. That morning, I never got a call. Around 8:30, I called them, and they said that they called but I didn’t answer.
Because the window had already passed, they could no longer actually come out, I needed to reschedule. That took another week. The scheduling was extremely annoying. When they finally came out, they didn’t manage to do their job. The first technician said that I needed refrigerant. I asked if he could put refrigerant in, and he said, he couldn’t and he had to come back. He was there for about five minutes and said he properly diagnosed it. It took another two weeks for him to come back. He put in five pounds of refrigerant. I don’t know how he arrived at five pounds. I found out after the fact that it was a ridiculous amount, and there’s no way he could have known that’s what was needed. He charged $250 and said American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound.
The air conditioning worked for about 15 minutes and then stopped working. It turns out he didn’t properly diagnose that we had an extreme refrigerant leak. He should have done a proper diagnostic test to identify where the leak was coming from instead of just tightening a few nuts and bolts. I had to call him back out, which took another two weeks. He ripped all my air conditioning units off the wall inside the house and tightened more nuts and bolts. Then he decided to do a leak test, but instead of identifying which line had the leak, he just wanted to confirm that there was a leak in the system, which we already knew because he had put five pounds of refrigerant in and there was none left when he came back.
I found out that the technician should be able to identify where exactly the leak is coming from, because if he only confirms that there’s a leak, he doesn’t know what to repair. He was half-assing the whole situation. He said that he would come back just to confirm that there was an actual leak. Then I got a notice from American Home Shield that Furnace Doctors contacted them and closed the claim, saying they had fixed it, which was absolutely not the case. When I called Furnace Doctors, they told me I needed to call American Home Shield and reopen the claim. At that point, I couldn’t work with Furnace Doctors anymore.
I called American Home Shield and asked for a new technician. They told me I had to open a new claim, and when I did, they assigned Furnace Doctors again. I was on the phone with American Home Shield for hours several times. Eventually, they assigned a new technician who actually knows what he’s doing. The new technician properly diagnosed where the leak is coming from, but he still needs to come back to fix it, which takes another week or two just to get on the schedule. They did reimburse me for the $125 service fee because I’ve had such a bad experience, but they didn’t reimburse me for the $250 I had to pay for the refrigerant. It’s been a two-and-a-half to three-month process without air conditioning during the heart of summer. It was a horrible experience.
We understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and AHS truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to follow up with you further and address your concerns. We will have a representative reach out to you via email within 24-48 business hours.

One company had done our yearly inspection on our air conditioner to make sure it is working. Then we were told it was dirty and that the fan filters were not getting through the whole house. Our upstairs stayed hot, while the downstairs was freezing. We talked to Custom Climate because they had done good work before. They gave us a new brand of furnace that has a bigger fan with variable speed motor. We also had them install a bigger filter to help purify the air, and we were happy with them and how they did it. They let us know throughout what they were doing. We weren’t impressed with that other company.
I submit claims to American Home Shield through their website. When I did my oven, it was super easy. when the contractor showed up, he knew exactly what it was, and he had the piece needed with him already. He fixed it quickly.
But, when I did my dryer, it was not so much. A guy came out and he did a horrible job. He said that it was just not clean but we just had everything cleaned, so that was not the case. I ended up having to buy a new dryer. This dryer should have been replaced by the warranty, not by myself. So, that one was difficult, and we won’t use that company that did it again. When I did my dishwasher, logging on to the website was also easy. We were able to type in, but it took four tries to get somebody out here who could fix it.
It would be nice if it was easier to get ahold of a person. So, if I needed something, I could call and talk to a human, and not sit there on hold for hours and not have to go through 900 prompts to find somebody that is not the right person who would put me on hold again. From our research and what we have been told, American Home Shield is the best in this area. It is not the best company we have ever used, but the company we love is not in this area.

My family and I moved from Texas to Tennessee, bought a nice home built in the 1975 but in great shape. 1.5 weeks in my wife cooked our first meal after settling in. When we ran the dishwasher and cleaned dishes upstairs in the kitchen the basement sink below filled and overflowed onto the floor. Called American Home Shield who our realtor had purchased for us, to establish a claim. 10 days later while not being able to use the sinks a plumber arrives and states almost immediately he can't fix the problem because he does not have the proper tools, that he is a small outfit. He calls AHS to see if they can send out a plumber with the proper tools.
Next thing he is coming in the house with the representative on speaker and said they want to speak with you. The woman on the phone immediately tells me this claim is denied due to pre-existing conditions. Of course it is pre-existing because we just moved into the home. Everything is pre-existing. She was not customer service oriented and could care less of our issue. The plumber, seeing my wife and my frustration was extremely apologetic.
Long story short American Home Shield was a waste of our realtor's money. We called to request a refund and after many attempts to keep us, even offering to send another plumber out for a second opinion. Which would not have changed it was a pre-existing condition. Eventually they gave in and offered a refund less the $125.00 "service call" for a plumber who walked in looked at the sink and said he could not fix it. 3 weeks into this house and it has been a nightmare of an issue and American Home Shield caused it to be worse than better. I could of had a plumber out the next day instead of waiting 10 days only to be denied. OUR OPINION, DO NOT USE or PURCHASE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD...

David J. Winston came on time. The contractor put no-leak and filled it with some coolant. But that didn’t work, so they had to come back like a month later. They said I needed to replace it, and they put an order. And they replaced my AC, and did a great job and they gave me some pointers.
However, it is not very flexible working with American Home Shield. First of all, every representative says something else. They don’t know this stuff. So, one told me that they gave me some estimate. And I asked, “Can I get a cash? Maybe I can take the cash and upgrade my unit.” They said, “Okay,” and, somehow, they clicked that I accepted what they said there. So, I never got a cash offer.
And then another lady said, “I see that they told you that. But once they accept our estimate, you can’t get a cash offer” and that the other rep was wrong earlier. And then another person told me I was getting a Carrier brand, but it was not. I do not know where they get the information, but each one says something else. So, they are never clear on what exactly is going on. The customer service is nice, but not all of them are very knowledgeable. The app is also not very good because you do not get really exact information there.
If they are willing to give you a certain product, and if you want to upgrade from your own pocket to a better brand, they send you to a third party which charges you full price than just going to whatever they have in stock that they send to the installer. Whatever the difference in price to get the better one and what I’m willing to pay, they do not do that.
And it is difficult to deal with that way because I wanted the better brand out of my pocket. But they made it a $4,000 difference. And when you go to the store and upgrade the size or brand, it could be $500 to $700. So, you get exactly the same thing you had. And if I want it a little better, I cannot. I have to accept what they want to pay, which is a lot of money.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're pleased that you're satisfied with the work performed by the technicians from David J. Winston LLC and that your new AC unit is working well. It's always our goal to ensure our services meet your standards.

The guy from Homemeister who fixed the furnace was the one who installed it, and that was good. It needed some little part. Before they showed up, American Home Shield sent me a text message, telling me the name of the company and their phone number, and they said that the contractor will be contacting me shortly.
I’m a realtor and I sell American Home Shield whenever I can. I have had the same policy for about six years. Somebody came to our office one day and gave a presentation. And I went over the coverage and I was happy enough, and I had not had any issues other than that one time. With American Home Shield I do not have to think about hunting around for a heating and cooling company or a plumber. I just set the claim up online and make an appointment.
I always go online to submit my claims to American Home Shield. I have it set up on my desktop at home where it goes straight to the right place. When I call, I get quite a bit of a runaround, and their people hardly speak English. But, I try to always do everything online, and it never fails. I tell people all the time to go get a home warranty as they would save their selves some grief. I have had a good experience for the most part, except for one instance three years ago where there was a plumber who came out who I had a lot of issues with. I pay $72 a month. I've been paying that for five years and that's a decent amount. But the out of pocket for our AC was too high and American Home Shield rubbed me the wrong way. The Hansen guy came out and said I needed to change my whole unit. I got the R-22 and I would need to change it over to the newer stuff. He would have to do upgrades and the out of pocket cost was 2,450. He was very rude too.
I called American Home Shield back and asked if I could get another quote. They said the out-of-pocket cost is still gonna be the same for what they diagnosed. That doesn't make any sense. What if you took your car in and they said you need a new motor and it's 1,500 bucks? Then they tell you to get another opinion but it's still gonna be 1,500 bucks. Doesn't everybody who have R-22 supposed to be changing over due to the environment anyway? It's called SEAL. But they're gonna charge me 2,450 from the guy that they sent out.
The rep asked if I wanted to pay another fee for someone to come out. I was told I can get a second opinion free. I wouldn't have to pay another $100 for someone to come out because we already know what the issue is. So why would he say I'm gonna get charged again?
I also asked if I could find my own person. They was like, "Nope. You can't find your own person." I asked if they could mail me the parts and I'll have a licensed person put them in. "No. We can't do that either. We ain't gonna mail you parts." Oh, okay. Well, I'll just look for a different warranty company then.
They were gonna escalate the call because a person I spoke to before said she would mail me the parts. Then when they called me back, they were like, "I don't know who told you that." Aren’t the calls recorded? I told them to pull up the conversation but they never played it. They never told me if they heard her say they would mail me the parts or not. So I was peeved about that. They forced me like, “If you want your air done, pay the 2,450 to the guy we sent out.” They told me to call Hansen Mechanical and see if they would negotiate. But they said, "No. We ain't negotiate. This is what it is." And I don't think that that's fair. It's getting ready to be fall now, so we probably aren’t gonna be using the AC. I'm gonna leave it like this until I get the money to fix it.
Sincerely,
Marc

American Home Shield is an absolute scam. My AC broke down, and their service was a complete joke. They took over a two days to send someone and over a week to authorize a repair, then quoted me a ridiculous $1,500 for out of pocket repairs, however, the technician stated the parts alone were going to cost over $1,000. I requested a cash out offer only to be offer a pathetic $600 cash out. I wasted countless hours on the phone with them, getting nowhere. In the end, I had to replace the whole unit myself, costing me over $5,000! Don't waste your money on this company.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and it sounds like a very stressful situation. I apologize for the difficulties and delays you encountered during the AC repair process. We understand the importance of functioning appliances, especially during crucial times. We would like the opportunity to address this more closely and will follow up with you soon.

Sears came out four times for our oven and they said they couldn't figure it out. They said it was the sensor board and they replaced that. That wasn't it. They replaced three parts. The one part that they did not replace until this last guy was another temperature sensor, which he had already ordered. But he had to pull the whole oven out in order to get to it. In my opinion, the first three guys didn't want to pull the oven out. This last guy figured it out and put everything back and the oven is fine.
One thing American Home Shield can do to improve is not re-sign us up without our permission. My husband spoke to them about this whole oven situation and told them if they can't fix it, we're not renewing. And they automatically renewed us. Their prices keep going up and up too, but that's everywhere.
The first time we called them out for this was in February. They said they fixed it but they didn't fix it. If I needed 350 degrees, I had to put it in 285. It was a constant juggling thing, and I finally got so sick of it that we told them to replace the damn oven. The last call we had was for our washer. It was a 30-year-old washer and they tried to fix it but ended up replacing it. This time, they said no and had this come out and this come out. They did all that three times. Plus when the first two guys came, as soon as they walked out the door, they closed out the service call even though it wasn't fixed. The last one did not. He was awesome.

I placed a request to fix the lock on my mom’s range to allow it to self clean. The technician was able to fix it but broke a knob by mistake. The knob could not be replaced so we started the replacement process. At this point my mom’s stove works. The replacement comes and when they install an error is given. So they put the old stove back and now it does not work. They said electrical but my stove had worked for years. American Home Shield made me pay to have an electrician come out. Even though everything worked before their people came. So my elderly disabled mother is without a stove until an electrician comes and then a replacement is sent out

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I called AHS on 8/1/25 to report our AC not working. AHS put work order to US Air to come out to fix it on 8/4/25. It took US Air more than a week (till 8/11/25) to come out to try to fix the AC but on the process of trying to fix the AC, the Technician broke another item on the unit and left saying he will order the broken part that day and come out before 8/15/25 to fix it. The Technician from US Air never called us and has never come to fix the AC up till today.
We have called AHS and US Air everyday since 8/11 talking to different people who kept telling us that the Technician from US Air will call us when he gets the parts and schedule to come out, but up till today he has never called us for any update. US Air told us the first week that they are and backed up with new orders for 2 weeks and are attending to Clients with Emergency cases. We asked them why our case is not considered emergency and they did not answer that question.
We called AHS and reported to them and asked them to find us another company that is not backed up and AHS said that once they send out work orders, that they will not take it back and give to another company (INSENSITIVE). We went into the hotel for the weekend of 8/8 and 8/9 due to too much heat in the house and asked AHS to refund us and they refused (NON-CARING). Both US air and AHS have kept me and my family of 5 in a home here in TX (temp in 3 digits) for the past 21 days without AC and at this time no time as to when they will likely get the parts and fix our AC. What a LOUSY, INCOMPETENT, UNCARING, and INSENSITIVE companies they both are and I will NEVER use them again after these incident is over.

I was a client of AHS for almost three years. In June 2025, I sold my house and purchased a new one. I contacted AHS to cancel the policy on my old house and to purchase a new policy for the new property. Unfortunately, the representative who assisted me failed to cancel the policy for the house I sold. As a result, two months ago I was charged for the policy that should have already been canceled. I have contacted AHS multiple times, but each time I call I receive a different explanation. On 07/31/2025, I filed a claim regarding this issue, but as of today, 08/21/2025, I have not received my refund. This experience has been very frustrating and unprofessional. AHS charges customers promptly, but when the company makes mistakes, they are unwilling to return the money that does not belong to them.

AHS sent out a company to fix a leak in the toilet tank. I had to wait five days before someone could come out, but they came out and I have no more issues with it.
I've been disappointed in the past in relaying my needs. I had to call repeatedly. I was given a date and time and the repairperson came out before that time without notifying me. I was 30 minutes away from my home at the time. When I did get home, the request that I made was not made. There were other areas that were looked at that didn't need taking care of, so it was difficult. I had to call back and make that correction and it was difficult to deal with the phone representative who insisted that there was gonna be another $100 co-payment.
I had to wait again for the second serviceperson to come out. And it's been difficult sometimes to identify the problem. I'm not a plumber. I'm not a mechanic of any kind. But I know when things aren't working as they should. So I don't know if it depends on the phone rep that takes the call that is not fully informed or is not listening to my needs.

My experience with AHS was horrible. They keep saying that they gotta wait. They're doing a investigation. My bill is paid, but I've been sitting here the hottest 24 days of the year with no air condition. And they keep bulljiving around. First, it was you had to wait. It was a five-day waiting period. Now, it's this. Now, it's this. Then they send me something saying they can't fix it.
The plumber told me, "They're not gonna fix it. They're gonna say that they can't fix it. They're gonna send you $600." I said, "Cool." I already know that 'cause they did the same thing with my hot water heater. They only approved $700 out of a $3,200 job. The rest was left up to me. I didn't have a choice. I didn't have any hot water, so I had to get it done. This was a week or two ago. I've been waiting before then to get the AC fixed..
A few days ago, they said it's gonna take one to two business days. I waited two days, I called back. "I'm sorry, they told you wrong. It's one to three business days." I called again today. This is day four. said, "This is day four. So you can't tell me that anymore." "You need to be more patient and da, da, da. We thank you for your continued patience." I'm not patient. They're being patient. I'm hot as hell.
So the person finally said -- I said, "So what you're telling me is I have to wait an indefinite period of time for y'all to come out here or give me the money?" Because I asked for the buyout. They said that, "We'll give you a buyout and you get it fixed on your own." I said, "I don't give a damn what happens. I just need air conditioning here." And so, I accepted the buyout. But I waited one to two days for the buyout, then they told me it takes one to three days. I waited three days for the buyout. Today is day four. I waited for the fourth day. Now, they said, "Oh, you have to wait at least another day." So that's day five.
Now we're talking 27 days at that hot house. We're not even sure if it's going to happen then. And then he told me, "If you accept the buyout, it takes three to five business days in order to get the money." We’re talking about a whole month now with no air conditioning. The hottest 30-day period of the year and I don't have air conditioning. And they keep telling me, "Well, I'm the person you need to talk to. Stop telling me that stuff. Just give me what I need. I need somebody to come over here and fix it or give me the money so I can get it fixed.
They sent someone out back on the 24th, and it still isn’t done. The company is a scam. It's garbage. I'm gonna call the news and I'm gonna report them. I'm gonna do something. They keep calling me, asking me for my next payment. I haven't had air conditioning in a damn near a month and you're asking for a payment?
This one started with the hot water heater. Actually, it started before then. Before that, a year ago, I paid for them to put the stove in. They came out and told me I had to toy with that oven out the damn wall to see what was wrong with it so they could do it if anything was wrong behind it. I had to pull it out the wall. If I know how to pull it out the wall, I wouldn't have called them in the first place.
They sent me a new stove. The stove is sitting in my kitchen right now in the box because I have to get -- they said the electrical outlet I said, "Youi can't fix an electrical outlet?" They said, "Well, no. You gotta do that."
American Home Shield is a scam. And I didn't think about it because they come over and do little stuff like replace the thermostat, snake the main drain. I'm like, "All right, cool. They're doing something." It lulls you to sleep. And then, every time you need something big, if it costs like $500 or more, they're not paying for that. They make you pay for it. They have all these excuses on why they can't pay for it.
The only thing they did, they came out and fixed the thermostat. They came out and did the main drain. They gave me a cooktop. But it's in a box with the plastic security bands on it. When my ceiling fan wasn't working right, they came and fixed it. It took them about 15 minutes. When my tub wasn't going, they sent somebody out to snake the drain. They do little things. But anything that's gonna cost some money and time, they're not going to do it.

My experience with American Home Shield was horrible. Every time you call them, you have to pay $100. Then when they come, it’s not covered. I had a problem with my door, and I had to pay $850. Then another thing broke down, but nothing is covered.
They cover the plumbing system, but the plumber must break the drywall to access it, and the drywall is not covered. Once the wall is opened, then they will fix the plumbing. The way they handle it is very tricky.
The contractor was Cactus Company, and they were nice people. However, they were only rated a 2 out of 5. I called on a Friday but they couldn’t come out till Tuesday the following week.
They came out and said the garage door spring broke, but they couldn’t do the work until they get an approval from the warranty. Half an hour later, I got a text from American Home Shield saying the spring on the garage door is not covered.
It’s the worst company you can work with. It’s a ripoff. They said the door is covered but not the spring. They cover the bare minimum for everything. I lost $100 to American Home Shield. They should be refunding it.
Cactus charged me $850 to fix the spring, but I found somebody who could do the same for 400 bucks. The spring costs $220, and then $180 for labor. So, that’s what I did.
Two years ago, the bathroom was leaking and seeped into the garage. They could fix the leak, but had to break the drywall to access it. My regular home insurance paid for the drywall. So, the warranty is worthless.

I had issues with my refrigerators and submitted a claim with American Home Shield. They sent Chuck’s Appliance Repair, and they fixed the ice maker on one fridge. For the other fridge, they said they would be back the next day, Friday, but they didn’t call me back. That Monday, I got a call real early and they told me that they’re gonna be here on that day. I waited until 3:00 PM, but nobody showed up.
On Tuesday, I was home all day and Chuck’s called around 5:00 PM, just after I had left the house. The technician said he was in my area and asked if I’m gonna be there right now. I told him to give me 30 minutes, but he said he couldn’t do that. When I called the following morning, they were really upset. It was a mess, and I was very, very upset with them.
They were able to repair the ice maker, but one refrigerator issue remains. I’m just fine the way it is, but I wasn’t happy with Chuck’s Appliance Repair.

American Home Shield sent D and P, and I felt they didn’t do everything that I wanted them to do. They used cheap material and said they went according to what my contract states. I had a gooseneck faucet, and they did not put that back like that. I said that when they put on my sink, if I was 300 pounds, I would break that right off. They said that if I wanted a more pricier one, I would have to buy that myself. They also took the attachment cord off my shower and would not put that back, they just got what my insurance would cover. The guy told me he didn’t purchase a bathtub spout, but he eventually found one in his truck. I had to replace the putty around it myself because there was an open little hole around where he put that spout on.
The water was coming up through the floor, so it indicated to me that something was going on in the piping. I had a pail catching water down in my basement because it was leaking from the tub. When the contractor came back out, he tore the floor part up and said that my piping looked good. He believed water was running down the side of the tub and caused it to become dry rot. He tore up a lot of that wood and stuff, put it in a bag, and then they left. He said they don’t replace floors. My son had to put a little board over it because anything could crawl up through that big hole.
I told American Home Shield not to send D and P back to my house anymore, but they said they were going to send them back out again. The guy was kind of upset because I gave them a 3 on a survey. It’s really a shame. I’m still paying for homeowner’s warranty and homeowner’s insurance, but I’m going to have to pay for all this stuff out of my pocket.

My tenant reported that the air conditioner was broken. It looked like the fan was still spinning but the air was not cold. Fresh Air was assigned to my claim and they were extremely difficult. We couldn't even get to the point where they would actually come in for the appointment. We first reported this in June. By August, the air conditioner was still not fixed.
Fresh Air had problems scheduling and their technician, who was on the road, did not communicate well with their front office. I provided the description of the problem and the contact information for my tenants to the front office. The technician who supposedly went out said he was trying to call me. I was not available at the time. Later, I saw the four last calls from him. And then he said he didn't know there was another contact number. The front office didn't tell him. That went on four or five times.
Fresh Air gave the tenants really large time windows. They said, “Technicians would arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. tomorrow.” My tenant would take the day off and nobody would come. After 6:00 p.m., she would ask what happened and Fresh Air would say, “Oh, no. He came at 8:00 a.m.” Wouldn't you already tell her if that actually happened instead of making her stay home all day until 6:00 p.m.?
There was an extreme lack of communication, ability to schedule, and ability to ring the bell. Every time the tenant was home, the technicians claimed they came. But nobody rang the bell. We couldn't get past these basic things. They say they would knock on the door, but you can't hear from the second floor if somebody's knocking. You have to actually ring the bell. We had several phone conversations just about ringing the bell. That was a pain.
In June, a Fresh Air technician was finally able to get into the house and look at the system. And then we didn't hear from them again. Since my tenant was not complaining anymore, that meant maybe they fixed it. A month later, the weather got hot again. My tenant told me, “So, what happened? Are they gonna come fix the air conditioner?” I called American Home Shield and they said that the technician from Fresh Air never submitted his notes. They didn't even have any evidence that any appointment took place and what the findings were.
Normally, there's only 30 days to schedule a recall appointment. This means that if something still continues to not work, technicians can come back without me paying an additional fee. This time, it was already 30 days. Since the technician had just submitted his notes in July, I asked American Home Shield for a recall appointment. They gave it to me. But we ended up not being able to continue with Fresh Air. I escalated this issue to management and they eventually assigned a different contractor, Temperus. Everything takes forever with American Home Shield. But at least the new contractor was able to get into the house and diagnose the problem. They said, “We can replace the whole HVAC system.” Now they ordered parts.
I told American Home Shield to never send Fresh Air to us again because it was the worst contractor. American Home Shield agreed. I'm actually looking for other home warranties with a higher ranking because I never had a problem-free service request yet with American Home Shield.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Techs came out and diagnosed my AC unit. They stated that there were some issues with it and they wanted around $3,000 to fix a unit that was potentially gonna go out on me. I just couldn't spend $3,000 on something to break on me in another year or so. I decided to go the new route of purchasing a new unit through a vendor.
I went ahead and got a payout quote from American Home Shield instead of going through with the company that they contracted. For one, my unit that went out was an old unit that takes the old R-22 coolant, which is now outlawed and very expensive to get. I wasn't trying to also repair something that I'm gonna end up having trouble later. If I had it repaired, I would have put myself in a hole and that's not something I can do with a family of five in this day and age. I can't waste my heart and money. I do my due diligence with everything I do. I make sure that I go the right route.
Seth was my rep when I got my plan initially started. I was never told about a platinum plan. I was told that gold was the highest plan that there was and that's why I went ahead and opted for that. I would have opted for a higher plan if there was one, because that was what I was looking for at the time. I was looking for the most coverage in case something happened. Therefore, when it came back saying what was covered and what wasn't covered, I would have a lot more coverage if I were under that platinum plan. I wouldn't be able to submit another claim with the same issue that was going on if I wanted to upgrade my plan. It put me in a bind and I didn't really like that. That left a bad taste in my mouth.
I left a review and that went towards the AC company that came out here, which wasn't okay because I don't have any problems with the tech. It was actually more or less the front end of the American Home Shield that I stated in my problem. It was definitely American Home Shield that left me in a limbo. Overall, I did appreciate everything that happened. I liked the turnaround rate on the payout quote and everything as well. There were some good things. But the false information in the beginning really put a bad taste in my mouth.
The front end definitely needs to be more upfront about the service plans. There’s also the part of knowing a little bit more about what is being covered and not. I didn't really know who was covering what and I'm getting sent a bill for three grand and it's very vague. Between the third-party company that's hired and American Home Shield, there needs to be more visual payouts. This applies even online. I have the portal and there wasn't anything for me to really see. It was all very vague on what's being covered and what's being actually repaired. I call for American Home Shield and they tell me to call the AC guy. The AC tells me to call American Home Shield. That was a little back and forth.
I'm not even a stickler and I'm a really good dude. I didn't wanna quit American Home Shield because my neighbors across the street are like, "Oh, man. They're great. I'm sorry." They referred me to the home warranty. They're like, "I don't know why you're having a problem. Maybe they're just the guys you got that time. It just happens sometimes.”
I would recommend American Home Shield to others but I would make sure that they go with a platinum plan and not a gold plan. I hope they don't get the runaround like I did at the same time. Fortunately, their customer service end is pretty good. When I call in, I don't really have to wait on hold too much. I have a portal and that's really cool. The coverage isn't bad too. If I had been told about the platinum plan, I would have been in a lot better situation.
Pricewise, it's reasonable. It's a certain amount a month and then you have to pay a certain amount to send somebody out here, which is fine. That's cool. It's reasonably priced because everywhere else you'd call to come out here to diagnose something, it's about 100 bucks. And they charge me about $100 or $125. It's somewhere within that price range if I call an electrician out here. They're gonna charge me around the same price to do a diagnostic as well.
Most of the time, that goes towards your repair, so that's cool too. You still pay that 125 and then they take care of it, so you're not really coming out of pocket. The AC guy quoted me out for some hardware for 480 bucks. The other AC guy I had said, "Dude, that's like $20 worth of hardware. I don't know why he's upping it so much. You don't want to pay $400 extra just in hardware.” That was definitely a red flag to me.
Sincerely,
Marc

I felt I was being taken advantage of because I’m a woman and I have a home warranty. I spoke to American Home Shield and told them I got a friend who’s an HVAC guy. He said that if the blower motor was malfunctioning, I would not have AC in the house. Plus, one of the technicians reeked alcohol. So, that’s when I called for a second opinion.
The first company was trying to rip everybody off. I looked at their reviews, and they were terrible. The warranty finally sent another contractor out from Fire & Ice, and he was wonderful. He explained what was wrong.
I asked the technician if there was a problem with my unit. He said the coils were dirty, but they’re not malfunctioning. They just needed to be cleaned.
I also told him about an issue with my ductwork, but he wasn’t sure if the warranty would cover it. That technician was 100%, an honest person. He was informative too.
My father had American Home Shield 30 years ago when he had his house built in the suburbs. Overall, they’re a wonderful company.

When the technician came out, they said it was the evaporator coil. They told me I had to pay $1,300, and I did. It was still doing the exact same thing when they left. I called and they sent someone else back.
The second technician came and said that my AC unit was unrepairable. Now, I’m out of $1,300 and had to buy a whole new system. So, I decided not to go with All American, and I’ll be dropping American Home Shield as well.
To me, I felt like I paid for a guesstimation. Because if it was unrepairable, then why did they try to repair it? It felt like I went to the casino and gambled $1,300, then came back home. I just gave away the money.
I couldn’t use the part that I just bought because I have to buy a whole new system. It was the worst experience for me. In the end, I hired my own contractor and went with Climate Heroes. I paid for that out of pocket.
I was with American Home Shield for years, and I’ve been paying the warranty $100. I transferred from one house to my new house, and this is the first big claim that I had.
Everyone says the exact same thing. When it’s minor stuff, the warranty will cover that. When it’s something big, they won’t. I was receiving emails about their AC program that they’re running. They were turning people down so that they can get them on their AC unit program.

I was with AHS for 20 years ago but I’ve changed houses and then I went with another group. I had an icebox go out and all they gave me was $400 for it. That’s why I went back to AHS. The first week I was back, my dishwasher went out. I had some people come to look at it and they said they can’t fix it. Two weeks later, I got a new dishwasher paid for by AHS. That’s another reason I’ve stayed with AHS for about eight years now.
Recently, I put in some claims. Caltech was sent to work on three units for me and they fixed two of them. But they could never fix the clothes washer. They made about four trips already trying to get it fixed. They ordered parts twice and they got it working about halfway, but it still made that noise. It’s out of balance. They’ve done their best trying to fix it though.
The customer is happy because it’s getting replaced. This is the longest I’ve ever went and it’s not done within a couple of weeks. They’d come look at it, couldn’t fix it and then they’d get a part. I even had one person that brought the trash disposal. He had an extra one with him when he came.
The reps listen to what I have to say. But as far as calling the home shield reps, I can’t get in sometimes but they always try to call back. But I like the service a lot better than I have anybody else. They treated me right 20 years ago so when I had a chance to go back after another company, I’ve stayed. For this recent claim, June till August is drawn out. Other than that, I’m not gonna abandon ship. I keep paying $1,000 a year because I’m gonna stay with you.

This is the worst home warranty service available. I tried to cancel before and they made offers, that they didn't live up to, to keep us. Now our compressor has gone out in our ac unit, during the hottest time of summer, and they say they will cover the parts but I have pay over 700 bucks for the freon in my unit. That is a ton of money for an ac unit that probably holds 10 lbs of freon. We looked it up and that should cost about 200-300 bucks. So why am I paying over 700 bucks. DO NOT ever get into these home warranty deals. They are no where near what they advertise.

I signed up for AHS warranty. I ended up calling an electrician because after rearranging my house, I found an outlet that was hidden and doesn't work. I put in a service request and the electrician came out and couldn't figure out the problem. I was still charged $125 for no work being done, and now AHS is saying I need to pay $750 to have the work done. I tried doing their chat option and when I told the associate what the issue was, they disconnected and sent me a survey about how good a job they did by ignoring me. The contract they sent states it pays for wiring and according to the electrician I need new wiring for the outlet to work.

I contracted w/ AHS. Two months in I filed a claim for the ice maker in my refrigerator. The 1st service incompetent. He placed the ice maker bar onto ON and raised the temp,. Nothing! AHS wanted him to return. When I told this very nasty service person there were no cubes he cancelled his follow up. AHS then reached out to Sears who wanted to charge me for their service call. That's when I terminated AHS and demanded the refund of my $125.00 service fee. After 4 days the credit is not back to my credit card and will not be processed for another week. Apparently AHS has such a huge backlog of credits. STAY AWAY. AHS is GARBAGE!

Fast Response identified that it was the condenser fan that needed to be replaced in the air conditioning unit. It was in a relatively timely manner. The frustration I had with them is that it took them days to submit the paperwork to American Home Shield to actually get approval on doing the work. At that point in time, we already communicated to them that we had been without air for over a week and a half, and the temperature in our house was 89 degrees in the house, with two toddlers in the house.
So, American Home Shield, for whatever reason, sent out the air conditioning guy again after they had communicated to American Home Shield that it was an electrical issue. I got frustrated because it took a week for that to happen. When the electrician came out, he said it was not an electrical issue, but he’d replace the breaker anyway. He replaced the breaker and the problem continued. When they sent out the guy for the second time, he was rude and disrespectful. He wouldn't even talk to me. He's like, "I don't understand why I'm even out here again."
After that experience, I contacted American Home Shield. I said that I didn't even want to deal with this guy anymore. He's just unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. Then they dispatched Fast Heating & Cooling.
When somebody has an urgent need, AHS should not assign a company that doesn't work on weekends. Because this happened multiple times with this order. With the first company, we were not able to get a hold of somebody for almost two days. Even with the most recent company, we couldn't get a hold of them to get a technician out for almost three days.In the meantime, again, we bought portable air conditioning units because we were making no progress. We spent $1200 on trying to retrofit three rooms in our house so at least it's livable. The tech finally came out and repaired it, but there might be an issue with it right now because it's working but it's making a wobbly noise that you can hear through the wall, and it does not sound right. It should not be that loud.
Overall, they diagnosed the problem and they fixed it. The amount of time it took once he diagnosed it was frustrating. It's very frustrating when they send a technician out and they tell you that the condenser fan needs to be replaced. The American Home Shield rep tells me that it’s covered but I have to have to pay for the wiring. In order to install a condenser motor, he has to rewire it. American Home Shield will not cover it. So, I had to pay the vendor $125 to replace the condenser motor and the wire that he cut in the first place.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

American Home Shield came with the purchase of the house. I’ve only had them for two months, so this is the first time I'm using them. I filed a claim for a microwave because it sounds like it’s functioning, but it’s not heating anything. So, they sent Axis Appliance Repair out, and the technician didn’t do anything. And then just left. And then about two days later, it stopped working again. I tried a couple of different things, went through the instruction manual to make sure it’s not with the settings, but it still didn’t work.
So, the technician came out a second time, and he actually removed the whole microwave, because it’s a built-in one, and exchanged the magnetron. After that, the microwave functioned for about a day, and then it had the same problem. It turns on, the timer runs, but whatever is in the microwave does not heat up. So, I contacted the home warranty again to ask for another appointment for a technician.
Submitting a claim was easy. I did it on the phone. And then I got a text message that I would get a phone call to schedule the appointment within 24 hours. Like the last time I did this, I got a message, but then nobody called. And then I got another message two days later, and then somebody called within 24 hours, and I’ve scheduled the appointment for the technician.
So, I’m somewhat dissatisfied with my experience because I’m still having the same issue with the microwave, and I’ve had the technician out twice. And I also have to take time off work to be there. Otherwise, it was easy to schedule, the technician was friendly, and he let me know when he was on the way, which was positive.
I hate to hear about your most recent AHS experience and would be glad to speak with you regarding the issues that have occurred.

We had an air conditioner issue and the techs didn’t do a good job. The first time they came, they said it was the control. We have the smart one from Nest. They said this was not covered, and I understand. So they took it off and they put the regular manual one. But then we lost the cool air again and we called them because it was still under warranty. The techs came and said they were gonna charge 220 to take it off. So we brought somebody in who fixed my AC and they put the new Nest one.
My experience depends on the company AHS partners with. Some companies are respectful and they do a good job. Most of the other ones are very greedy and they want to manipulate you and charge extra. They will tell you it’s not covered but then it’s all covered. Last year, I had a problem with United Air which AHS contacted. They were terrible. And then the company I had this time was very greedy.

The condensation drain was backing up. I went online and opened up a claim, and the process was pretty easy. I got a text notification saying that a person has been assigned to my claim. Once the contractor got notified, he reached out to me to schedule a time. He was pretty good.
However, I had to pay for it out-of-pocket because it was technically considered an enhancement. In order to fix the problem in a cheaper way, the technician had to put a pump on it and redirect where the drain was going. American Home Shield considered that an enhancement, which I would question. That was the only way to fix it without creating a major damage to my house.
Home Shield is one-stop shop. All I gotta do is call that 800-number, and they send somebody out. So far, the best thing about it is the ease of use. And they’ve come out quickly for most of the issues I’ve had. So far, so good with Home Shield.

The guy who came out was very nice and did the work. He said the fan was broken, and they would need to order a part. He was supposed to come back, but I never heard from them again. They ghosted me.
I would email and text them for three weeks, but they never responded. I managed to get ahold of someone one time. The lady was rude and off-putting. They were awful.
I called American Home Shield and the warranty said they were still waiting on a part. The contractor finally sent somebody else out when they had the part and put it in. The technicians were nice but dealing with the office was terrible. I would never want to use those guys again.
American Home Shield would always send garbage people like that or wiggle out of having to pay. I would tell friends and family to steer clear away from them.

I apologize you had a bad experience with the vendor. AHS contracts with vendors, who are licensed and insured, by local, state, and federal government, that serve your location. Vendors are responsible for how they behave, and for the quality of the work they do in your home; however, AHS does want to know when you have a problem with a vendor, so thank you for that information.

However, I don't know what they told American Home Shield, but they denied my claim. As a result, I had to pay $1,500 out of my pocket that I wasn't expecting to pay to get the coil on my AC unit fixed. I was very upset. Also, they said it was a preexisting condition, and I was like, “How is it preexisting when it just broke down?”
Now, the AC recently stopped blowing the cool air the way it was blowing when it originally got fixed. With all other home warranty companies, be cautious. Weigh the benefits, the pros against the cons, because the amount of money that you spend, you could save and build up to get your repairs done. You're paying somebody, and chances are they could deny your claim. You still will have to go into your pocket.

I've had American Home Shield for the second time, but I've had them for several years. My most recent claim was for a washing machine. American Home Shield got a technician from Sears to come out the day after, but I tried to wash some clothes and it was still not right, just awful. On the same claim, they sent a different technician. It was seriously making all kinds of racket, like somebody blowing a horn in my washroom. He changed a part that the first guy had changed. It was chewed up and didn’t even make it to a load.
They sent out a tech for the third visit. His name’s Adam. Come to find out, the shaft was fixing to fall out. He apologized and said it was his fault, that he should have looked a little bit deeper the first time. He finally determined with American Home Shield that it was not repairable. They put in for a replacement and sent me an email with a list of appliances. I was going like, “Get a Whirlpool,” but they were gonna charge me the difference. I’m not paying for a washing machine when they say they will replace it. They had a very first one with another Maytag, and it would cost me nothing. So, that’s what I chose.
The delivery is set for Wednesday, the 27th. The girl in the purchasing department told me J.B. Hunt is supposed to pull out the old one and haul off the old one. I’ve been dealing with this since the very end. The only way I’ve been able to survive, I had bought a little $100 wash-and-spin washing machine for my camper. My husband is handicapped, and I do not have the time to go to the laundromat.
I suppose American Home Shield has done their part. They only charged me the one-time service fee. Currently, I pay $51 a month. For right now, the price is okay for the warranty, so far. But if you watch their advertisement, “It’s fixed in a day,” that is so false. First, they have to diagnose it, order parts, then they have them shipped to me. It’s not just that fast. It’s just been a long process for me.

American Home Shield sent Fast Response Heating to one of my rental units, and they fixed the problem. There was a component that they said needed to be replaced. They had the part with them. They fixed it, and it's been working fine. One time, about two years ago, one of my exhaust fan motors was not working. American Home Shield sent one company, and the guy said he couldn't do it and that it was not fixable. And then they sent another person from a company. This lady, she actually did the work. She was just incredible.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield thus far has been mixed. It’s very difficult to get hold of people who respect your time. Fast Response is somewhat better than many companies, but they just don’t give you a particular time. They give me a window from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. That’s completely unreasonable. I have a full-time job myself. There was another company called Front Door Pro. Those guys went there, and the tenant told them the AC is on the rooftop. The guy stood at the door and said that they don't go to the rooftop, despite it being a functional, flat terrace. They left, and they didn’t even bother. I requested a maintenance tune-up, and nobody showed up, yet there was a text saying they went there, but there was nobody.
I pay about $110 every month, and then every time you request a service, it’s $100 right there. Between my home and my rental property, we are spending close to $4,000 a year. My wife and I have been talking about if it is worth me spending that kind of money. But I’m probably going to stick with American Home Shield because it does give you a little bit of peace of mind, but I have to do this benefit analysis.
I hate to hear about your most recent AHS experience and would be glad to speak with you regarding the issues that have occurred.

I called American Home Shield initially because I saw a water stain in my bathroom. A contractor from 822 Plumbing LLC came out but didn’t go up the crawlspace. He just went up the ladder, had a look, and explained that it has to be the roof because we live in a slab home and the pipes run across the home and not up. He was at my house for less than five minutes and left for his next job. As I didn’t have roofing on my coverage, I then called my homeowners insurance, and roof people came out. When they went up, they noticed that my air conditioner was actually upstairs in that area and that it was overflowing.
I had to call American Home Shield back and do another claim, which I felt should have been the same claim because the first contractor never fixed the first issue, and that was causing some of the moisture upstairs. I spoke to Sam at American Home Shield, and they had May Heating & Air come out. The air conditioning people from May cleaned out the track and the insulation that had blown over in that area, and went around the back, and checked the Freon. The guy said it should be good. He suggested I get another piece to go on to, since the $185 insurance doesn’t cover it, so that if it overflows again, it will shut it down.
I had to pay another $100, but I felt the issue was the same. I was told once I pay one, I have to pay again. I paid because I needed it fixed, but I plan to speak to someone at a higher level. They cover quite a bit, but their price has gone up about $30 since I got it. Other than that, they've been great all the other times that I've had to use them. I've only used them a handful of times, but it's better to have them than not have them.

This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. I put in a service request because my AC went down. After 8 hours of not hearing back from them, I started making phone calls. When I finally reached someone, they told me that they do not have a contractor in my area that is affiliated with AHS and that their dispatch department is working on finding someone. I told them that I would find someone in my area to repair the AC. They told me that they would not authorize reimbursement unless they cannot find someone. They said that their guidelines and rules state that they have up to 48 hours to locate a vendor before they authorize reimbursement.
The customer service rep I was speaking with told me that they are outsourced and do all their communications via email with AHS and they could not give me a phone number to talk with someone that actually works for AHS. I told them to reimburse my $125.00 service fee and I would find my own HVAC company to repair the AC. After reading many of these comments, I feel I did the right thing because I would end up paying for it myself anyway. What a BS company!!!! I will not be renewing my policy.

Well, I went to other warranty companies. I've been with a couple of them. And I came back to American Home Shield because they are one of the best ones I've been with. What can be improved is the price, because it used to be like $75.
One other thing that could be improved is that sometimes they replace things not quickly enough. My tenant’s refrigerator went out. And the guy said it couldn't be repaired, but I didn't get a message for like three or four days later saying that they would replace it.

We've had American Home Shield for 30 years, maybe close to 40 years. And it's not as good as it was when we first started. I know they are pinching pennies, but I pay a lot of money every year for this service. But I feel like I have to justify when something breaks down.
The contractor, Modern Heating and Air Conditioning, was wonderful. They cleaned up the mess that Connett made. Connett stripped a bolt and left it like that. It was making an ungodly amount of noise. So, Modern Heating came out and fixed what Connett did wrong.
The whole fan went out. It just died. They did fix it so that we had air, but they had stripped the screw in the housing. And so, the new fan or blower wasn't sitting in there comfortably. So, it was vibrating and making a lot of noise.
American Home Shield covered it. But I will tell you that the first time I was trying to get them to come out, the customer service rep from American Home Shield wouldn't listen to me. He was awful. I called and got him again. And that's really the first time I've ever had a problem with their customer service.
Well, I think that these companies have to wait to get parts. And having to order the parts after they get approval from American Home Shield is absolutely ridiculous. We had to go three or four days in very hot weather with absolutely no air conditioning because we had to wait for them to authorize the parts.
Five years ago, I'd have given them a 5-star, hands down. I'm thinking that I'm probably more towards the 3. And it's taking so long to get things fixed. It was not like before.
Just this last time, we were four to five days in 90-some-degree temperatures in Iowa. And both my husband and I are not young anymore. And we both have asthma. And I'll tell you, it was miserable.

In some cases, they were just offering us cash-out with no other options, and I don't think that that's what they're about. It's supposed to be repaired or replaced. I can understand the cash-out if something's not available, but sometimes they don't listen.
For example, we had a water heater that was replaced, but the vendor wanted $500 extra for building code requirements. When I checked with the building code office, only one item was required to be replaced, and it was an $85 item. So, this company was ripping us off for over $400, but American Home Shield would not listen to that. They just said, "We're gonna go with what the vendor says." And I'm telling them that I got proof that I don't need an extra $500 worth of parts on my water heater, just an $80 part, and they wouldn't listen to it. Sometimes they're very unreasonable, and you can't get anywhere with them. And they're not consumer-friendly.
But this time, I was happy with the entire situation. I've worked with WM Appliances before, and they haven't been as good as they were this time. They worked on our washer maybe a year ago, and it took them five visits to finally get it fixed correctly. This time, they only came out once for the evaluation, and then American Home Shield offered us a lot of good replacement machines. We just didn't care for any of the replacements. So, we went with cash-out because we wanted something different.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for years. When they send people, the people do a good job. However, AHS doesn't give me any kind of mail that lets me know that I'm with them, because I had to follow up. I forgot who I had gotten with and I had to search and find them. I was paying for it. It would be good if they would send a card or notification that I was with them. I finally found them because I had to go back to my email. But that was bad on my behalf because I should have gotten all my information right then and there. I had a claim recently and the technician from Fast Tech Plumbing did an excellent job with my garbage disposal. They had to replace it.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that our technicians provided effective solutions and that you're satisfied with the quality of our in-home services. It means a lot to us when a long-time customer has such positive things to say about our technicians.

They came out, checked it, ordered a part, came back when they had the part, and they fixed it. I don't like the fact that the price keeps going up. But every time I call to get something done, I haven’t had any problem.

American Home Shield is an excellent service to have because if something breaks, you can definitely call them to get it fixed. When I bought my house, the people who lived here before me recommended that I keep the home warranty or get a home warranty because I’m a single mother and if something were to go wrong, it was gonna take a lot of money to fix it. So, I called American Home Shield, and I’ve had it for 24 years.
The last one was the toilet was filling up really slow, and they sent A1 Phoenix Plumbing to come out and check it. They knew right away what was wrong, so I just stepped back, and they fixed it. One of them got a new piece off the truck and they installed it in five minutes.
There have been times that the people they’d sent out didn’t know what they were doing and I had to get a second opinion. So, American Home Shield needs to get more people that have knowledge of things that they send them out for ‘cause sometimes it seems like they don't. But most of the time, they do.

I was having some issues with my air conditioner, so I needed for that to be checked. The guy from Tru Tech was able to check the portion that was inside the house. But, we still do not know what exactly the issue was. The AC came back on, but he was not able to check the external portion that is located on top of the house. He said that they were going to send somebody else out to be able to do that, but nobody came and I have not heard from anybody.
I called in the issue on the 31st of July, and it has been about two weeks now. American Home Shield also sent out a follow-up text message to find out how the service went and I responded to let them know that it was a partial service, based on what the technician said.

My garage door died. The contractor was very kind. They came out on Sunday to fix it so I wouldn’t feel worried that someone could get into my house. They found an old wooden broom and stuck it in to walk it.
The other gentleman came out the next day. The first guy told me that they didn’t make the thing that powers the garage door anymore. It’s obsolete. I thought that the company would replace it but they wouldn’t. For $125, I had a man put a little lip on the bottom of the garage door so it could close it manually. Then he put a lock on the side so I could lock it. I tried to close it from the outside and I got my fingers smashed in between the garage door.
I called AHS and told them I wanted to cancel. They told me they’ll give me my $150 back but that doesn’t fix my garage. They gave me another option which was $7 for my AC and my furnace. They were trying to keep me. But I agreed for them to call the company again. They said that the company didn’t explain what exactly as going on.
The woman I talked to told me that she would contact the contractor, which she did because she had an email showing that. But the contractor hasn’t called me. I have till August 30th to decide whether I’m gonna keep AHS. I have another company that’s gonna take over and I’m not gonna pay both. This other company is not gonna charge me $150 or $120 again.
I hope they improve the communication between the company and who they hire. They didn’t communicate very well. The rep was foreign and I had a hard time understanding her at some time. But she just kept going about what they can do for me. But they never said that they will replace the garage opener. If they would have said that, I will keep them. They offered everything except for fixing my garage. I was on the phone for over an hour with this lady and she was very good at turning things around.
We appreciate you sharing your concerns with us, and we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your service claim. A service specialist will follow up with you directly.

American Home Shield to me is the absolute worst. They assigned the job to a company called Chesapeake Appliance. When they came out, the guy wasn’t even a technician. He came out with an iPad, took a couple of pictures, looked at the stovetop, just looked at the refrigerator, and left. He said he had to order some parts. Four weeks went by and I couldn’t get in contact with them.
I called AHS and I was told that Chesapeake said they completed the job, which was not true. American Home Shield gave me a lot of grief trying to prove that. It was my word against Chesapeake and they were siding with the appliance technician who falsified that he fixed the issue when he didn’t. AHS ended up requiring me to open up another ticket and waive the cost, which was ridiculous.
Then the techs from Appliance Keep Up came out and fixed the refrigerator. When he fixed the glass stovetop, he ended up cracking the glass. So when I noticed it, I called and told them about it. There was some back and forth of blame but I made it clear to them that, if that was the case, I would have called American Home Shield to replace the glass. They ended up taking ownership of it and replaced the glass. It was an up and down situation but because the owner followed through on his word and fixed the glass, I would give him a good review.
It's been a headache overall. I had them come out one time to repair my AC unit and AHS didn’t want to cover it. They went back and forth. They gave me a payout to replace the unit but they only gave me a fraction of what it cost to replace it. It was that pointless. I would tell my friends not to waste their time or money on AHS and I’m gonna cancel my subscription.

My dryer had an error message. It will work, and then it will stop. and an error message came up. And whatever you did after the error message came up, it went and start again. Submitting a claim is, but it's still not fixed. I don't even know when I submitted it. The First person couldn't fix, and I asked to switch somebody else. They came out and said it was something and they had to order a part. I’m still waiting for a part right now.
I got the service because a family member said it was so good, but I've had problems ever since I've had it. Number one, I'm gonna put contributory negligence because I didn't read all the contract. I just went by when I asked questions of American Home Shield. When I asked questions, I went back a question, how they answered it, instead of reading it on my own. Because apparently, they don't know what they talking about either. They couldn’t get a right answer.
They have to know their product. The services is their product. They answer the wrong thing. That's all. That’s all they do. Don't give random answers. They should study the contract.
I have two properties with AHS. The first property, I would say AHS could get 4 stars. The second property, they get a 1. My one property has appliances that are not specialty, the GE, Whirlpools. They’re good at that. But they’re not good at fixing Bosch, Libra, Miele, stuff like that. Little things that are a little different. I guess they may be international brands.
They’re good at American brands, but maybe you need a special people who specialize in specialty stuff. Because my brands are different than other brands, ‘cause that's what I like.I’m thinking I need to get paid to show them how to work. I am big advocate of customer service.

The contractor from AHS came to look at our water heater. When they came the first time, they relit our pilot, but it didn't stay lit. They came back a second time and they had to bypass something. They said if it still doesn't work, to contact them again. After a couple of weeks, it did it again so we contacted them and they said we had to call you guys.
We contacted American Home Shield and said our water heater is still not working. I saw an email which stated that they had come out and spoke to us and then entered a claim that our water heater was not working. But they never came out. They never talked to us about it. And then there was a charge of $1,000 that was supposed to come out of our pocket.
When I saw that email, my husband called American Home Shield right away and said, "Hey, they didn't come out. They didn't explain this to us. We want to put a hold on this. Don't submit the claim to them because, literally, we don't even know what's happening. No one came out. We weren't even home.”
That's where it ended. I talked to American Home Shield about what was going on. and so the final result was that they said that the contractor picked up a water heater, and then they're saying they didn't, and so we're just going to do the payout option. I still have not received that. It's been months..
We called and we were supposed to get a call back if there was a payout option, and I never received a phone call back. And it has been weeks, so I called and spent 45 minutes on the phone. The person I talked to was wonderful, but she had to keep putting me on hold and asking somebody else what was going on. I would have appreciated a phone call back with the result rather than me having to be on the phone for 40 minutes. But she did the best she could.
I sincerely apologize for the troubles you have encountered when dealing with Moreno Plumbing and the additional confusion with charges and communication through American Home Shield. Your frustrations are entirely understandable. I assure you that addressing these grievances with proficiency and care is a priority going forward. We have been with AHS for many years. Never had a claim approved. Recently, our water heater caused our circulation pump to explode. Huge flood. You can see the rust from the water heater going into the pipes in the pic below. We paid out of pocket to get a new circulation pump but we were told we ALSO need a new water heater. Enter AHS. They sent a plumber who said we absolutely need a new water heater as it is rusted. AHS DENIED the claim. The plumbing company said AHS often denies water heater claims.
The AHS rep told me they denied the claim because the plumber said we failed to perform "routine maintenance" on the water heater; however, the plumbing company told me they never said that. AHS also said they only fix the heater if there is structural damage, not rust. Yet, I cannot find this exception anywhere in my contract, even the fine print!! Then we called to CANCEL AHS altogether and after 20 minutes on the line, the woman said she wasn't AUTHORIZED to cancel our service! Maddening!!
I am truly sorry to hear about your experience with your claim, especially after being a loyal customer for so many years. One of my neighbors recommended American Home Shield, and she has had them for quite a while. So, I thought I should give them a try because I was paying $250 for every direct service call to a plumber or an electrician. They would also require two-hour minimum service. With AHS, I normally pay $50 a month and then pay $125 for the service call that is guaranteed for 30 days whatever they are working on. But I got a discount because they were offering a sale price and I am also an AARP member.
I had AmTech Appliance out for two things back-to-back. I had a kitchen faucet that had low pressure and did not always turn off. There was something going on in the handle. And they came out and cleared the screen and adjusted a nut and it has been working great since. The technicians have been very professional and knowledgeable. They set a time window and then they keep you informed on the progress. So, if they were supposed to be there at 4:00 and they were not quite finished with the job, then someone would call and tell me that they were running a little late, and if that was okay.
I also had a claim for a dishwasher where the seal kept coming undone. The service tech for that issue was also very professional and courteous. The technician diagnosed what caused the problem with the seal and he replaced that part. But now, the seal needs to be replaced. So, the contractor is coming back on Monday to look at it again and see about replacing the part. I am just frustrated with the dishwasher because this is going to be the fourth trip. I wish they had gone ahead and replaced the seal the last time they were here.
Still, American Home Shield is diligent in wanting to get things fixed. The claim process has been very good. Overall, they have done well. Sometimes, they are a little bit slow in that they schedule quickly, but by the time the contractors get here, they have to diagnose the problem, then if parts have to be ordered, they have to order them.

I cannot overexpress how extremely disappointing our experience with American Home Shield has been. It is single-handedly the worst customer service experience I have ever had on top of them working with crooked contractors. We bought our plan with our home in April and our dishwasher was broken. We submitted a service request in April and they sent out Aurora Appliance Repair in Colorado.
They came out, said they changed a gasket and that our dishwasher would stop leaking, but couldn’t stay to run a full cycle and make sure it didn’t leak after a full cycle. This then went on for the next four months, with eight different visits from the same company replacing the same two pieces of our dishwasher and refusing to stay to ensure it worked. The last technician came out this week (now mid-August) with the same story, so I sat on my kitchen floor and watched my dishwasher run for less than 30 minutes before it started leaking again and pooling water. I tried to contact the company to have the technician come back and they said there was no one available.
After getting fed up and contacting American Home Shield directly, they refused to replace our still broken dishwasher, told us we would have to pay AGAIN to have a different company come out and refuse to have a supervisor call us back despite two promises we would have a call from a supervisor who could assist us within 48 hours. We decided to try and cancel our warranty since it has done nothing but cause us headaches and lose over 40 hours' worth of wages, waiting on an appliance repair company that can’t repair appliances. They told us that we were ineligible for a refund, despite having only held the warranty for four months, and we would have to pay an additional administration fee for canceling. This company should truly be ashamed of themselves.
Dear Morgan,
Thank you for contacting AHS! We apologize for the frustration. A service specialist will follow up with you regarding your dishwasher service request.

I have been a customer for almost 30 years. Lately the service has been lacking trust. Had a leak in a drain a few years ago and the plumber who was sent first wanted $2000 to fix the leak saying that AHS would deny the repair. We called AHS ourselves and explained what had happened. They sent out a different plumber that they had sent for a prior leak and he was able to repair it simply without a tear out of floor and walls. November 2024 our dishwasher quit working. The repairman had to replace motor and seals on the door. Work for a while then it started leaking intermitted. It would not leak all the time. We would find water on the floor after the cycle ran.
We called AHS and they sent out a repairman on July 17, 2025. He could not locate any issue. We called back August 8 and a technician came out for 20 minutes and again could not locate a leak. He told us to film the dishwater as it was leaking. We have done that and tried calling the tech company and get no answer from their answering service. We paid two service call outs of $100 each also.
I have called AHS three times since the August 8 call to no avail. The dishwasher is still leaking. I was told last Saturday to call back on Monday since the contractor appears to not work on the weekend. My call today August 18, I was told to call back in two to three hours by AHS answering service. They are third party employees that are hard to understand. AHS had always been great at the beginning but now the monthly fee goes up each year and so does the service call out fee. I probably should have cancelled the service and replaced the unit myself. Service is not what it used to be.

I called American Home Shield because the door on my Fisher & Paykel refrigerator still didn’t shut very well. I think it’s because of the hinge. American Home Shield denied the claim, saying there’s nothing wrong with the door, or that we overloaded it because it’s too heavy.
The contractor came out and said I needed a new door. It’s a new refrigerator. I said it’s just catching something or the hinge is rubbing this way and probably needs an adjustment.
He was here for about ten minutes, tried to get authorization from American Home Shield, and then it came back denied. Right now, I have to put a little note on the fridge for my family because the door won’t shut on its own. They have to push it hard.
I wish I didn’t waste the $100 with American Home Shield ‘cause they got me nothing. Everything we’ve called for was not covered. There’s a pool pump outside, but it was not covered because it’s outdoors.
The AC was not covered either. I’m actually sitting here waiting for my AC repairman now. I didn’t call American Home Shield for that because I didn’t know if their vendors get paid. That’s maybe why the warranty doesn’t have good contractors.
I hate to hear about the disappointing experience you've had with your fridge door and our service. My experience with them so far has been satisfactory. I filed a claim for a leaking showerhead. The contractor came out, they charged 150 bucks, and they fixed it. Their website was easy to navigate. And the contractor who came out was great.

I always go online to get the requests for service from American Home Shield. I was with them for years. Their price got way too high, charging me $140 a month. I canceled them back in April. Then, I got some literature saying, "This is what our price will be for the next year." It was a lot less expensive, something like $29 a month. It was a significant enough difference to go back to them. You should go for AHS.
The guy from Fuss Free AC diagnosed the problem fairly quickly and had the part in his van to get the air conditioner back to work. I was happy with that. Usually, these air conditioner guys only diagnose the problem and then they say they got to order the part. However, I had to pay $125 for the service call and I'm sure that part and the labor probably would have come out to about $125. I broke even and I can't be excited about it. If it were a compressor or something like that, it would have been a bargain.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! We're delighted to hear that the technician was able to quickly diagnose and resolve the issue with your air conditioner on-site, providing you efficient and valued service. I called in a plumbing claim with two issues. There was a leak in my basement, in a closet, and the kitchen faucet wasn't working. The man came from T Mayes Plumbing & Heating. I assumed that he received information from his employer that there are two problems. I showed him the first leak. He goes to it and said we gotta cut the water off the house. He then wanted to drain the system. He went to my basement bathroom vanity and opened the pipe to let air in to drain the system. When he did that, we noticed that there was a leak at the bottom of that vanity. It's a finished basement, but we don't really use it.
I didn't know about that leak, but I know that as a customer of American Home Shield that you're allowed up to four claims per job. If you discover something while you're working, you can always try to add it on. He doesn't want to, but we go about doing that. He fixes the leak, which he's not happy about. Unbeknownst to me, he doesn't know that there's also a leak in the kitchen faucet which was part of the original claim. He was pissed. He was like, "Why didn't you show that to me?" I said, "I'm sorry. I didn't know that your boss, your computer system, or your email didn't tell you that this ticket has two things on it."
While he's upstairs, my eight-year-old says to me, "Mommy, the toilet isn't flushing." I go to look and sure enough it's not flushing. There are five toilets in my house. I didn't know one was not flushing. We are trying to get everything done and ready because we are listing our home for sale. Any little knick-knack problem in this 4,200 square feet, I as a single mom, am trying to repair and not get dinged on my inspection. I understand if that couldn't have been added because he was like, "I'm not gonna do the kitchen work. You should have shown me when I got here. That’s on you.“
The electrician came in on the job and he's not even looking. For $100, he reset a plug. I then took him downstairs to the basement and I said, "These fixtures, they're blinking." He's like, "These aren't covered. I don't know if it's a ballast or a striker." He's not even trying to take anything off or touch anything other than one reset plug and talking about having to go. With the electrician, eventually, I got my $100 deductible back because the tube lighting is not covered. By the time I got there, I had clocked five calls, cursed out everybody, and waited five days for an electrician from Glen Burnie who wanted to barely touch anything for $100.
I know every time how to add on a claim and it's four claims per job. I know who AHS is and why I have to deal with them. I know how awful it is to get authorization and paid, but I do it because I am a single gal and I've had four houses. I will never be without a home warranty and I know how to use it. But AHS doesn’t want to invest in their vendors. If they did, their vendors would have the proper app on their phone that tells them how many claims. There should also be a very clear procedure for a discovered condition. That basement vanity leak, I understand why the guy was pissed. I'm pissed too. If I had known about it, I would have put it on the ticket and he would have been doing it anyway. All home warranty companies are the devil. The whole industry is substandard, but I'd rather have it than not. That is the deal that I made with the devil.
Dear Ferzana,
Thank you for contacting AHS! Our top priority is customer satisfaction and we sincerely apologize for the frustration. We will have a service specialist contact you.

American Home Shield came with the home purchase originally two years ago. The AC wasn't blowing any cold air and the claims process was easy at the time. The contractor from Foxcroft HVAC & Refrigeration was very good. The AC is working well and I'm very satisfied. However, before agreeing with American Home Shield, ask for a discount. I have something that I thought would be covered but wasn’t, but for the one item that I called in that was covered, it was excellent.

I generally call American Home Shield to reach out and customer service has always been good. ARG Going Green came out and worked on my AC. That was excellent. The young man was knowledgeable about what he was doing. It turned out that what I thought was a major issue was just a minor problem. My outside unit had accumulated a lot of dust and stuff in it, and it was causing it to ice up. He turned the water hose on it. It was a good experience and the young man was very pleasant. We've been with American Home Shield for a long time, about 25 years. They've gone up on what I have to pay, though. It went from $75 to $100.

My air conditioner was not cooling. The service done by Cool was mediocre, and nothing has been done to fix the issue. I got an email from them a week before saying that they were processing because my repair needed Freon. But I have never heard back from either Cool Tech or American Home Shield. The contractor came back and said that he had to turn it off and leave it off for 24 hours to thaw because it had frozen over. He said that unit needed Freon, and that he thought it would be $140 a gallon. He came back, but he did not do anything.
And I have somebody coming out to put Freon in it tomorrow. My sister called me and asked me who I had, but I would not recommend American Home Shield. This has been my second issue with them. They had someone come out for my refrigerator a month before that, and they never got that fixed too. I’m done with AHS.
I hate to hear about your unresolved issues and the lack of communication you've experienced with American Home Shield. We understand how frustrating it must be, especially given the pressing need to have your air conditioning operating during hot weather. I would like the chance to work toward resolving this situation to regain your confidence in our service. American Home Shield sent the plumber out to replace a sink faucet. The guy replaced the sink faucet and said he needed to replace the angle stops under the sink, which he also did. The angle stops leaked under my floor, and it ruined my cabinets and my kitchen floor. They said they were not responsible, and that ended up costing me $3,000.
This time, I have City First Electric come out to fix up an outlet that the breaker tripped. The guy came out and said that he could not fix it. He told me I have other problems. He did not know what he was talking about, because I have a Tesla outside charger and he told me that I did not need that outside. So, he could not fix the outlet. I am tired of getting incompetent people coming out. Every time, it is always something else.
AHS asked me how the service was, and I sent them a reply to the email. The technician said he would send over the invoice or whatever his recommendation, and that was never sent over. I have not received anything. Next thing I know, it was completed. I received a call this morning but my phone was off. And that was the first call I received from American Home Shield. A lady rep left a message.

I put in a ticket because the garbage disposal wasn’t working. I waited 24 hours, but the contractor didn’t call me, so I called them. It took four days for them to come out, and they fixed the disposal in 10 minutes. It had broken plastic pieces. They pulled it out, and I have no idea where it came from. The contractors, though, were awesome and great.
I have been with American Home Shield for seven years. They always come out to do services for lots of other stuff. The problem is that it takes a while to get things fixed. For example, we had a refrigerator that went down, and the contractor came within a day or two, then ordered parts and took a couple weeks for the fridge to get fixed. That seems to be the norm for everything. The same thing happened when I had an issue with the dryer. They came out, diagnosed it, then you had to wait a couple of weeks for the parts, and then they came out again. So it’s a pain.

The contractor said there’s nothing wrong with my air conditioning. It’s just a dirty filter. Imagine that. The guy from Home Depot wanted me to spend 41,000 for a dirty filter.
I’m so glad the contractor showed up. He could’ve just said something was wrong, and charged me, but he was nice and a very polite gentleman, so I'm happy about that.

I had a problem with my AC, and it took three different visits from Air Design AC to fix it. On the first visit, the technician wasn’t knowledgeable. He didn’t turn off the power to look at the AC, and a fuse blew, causing the circuit of the AC unit downstairs to blow as well.
Three days later they came back with a part they ordered, put it on, and left. After 30 minutes, the AC went back out again. They came back and said the circuit went out because of the pump, where water was dripping, it could be a condensation pump. They ended up replacing it. In the end, after three tries, I haven't had any issues. The whole process seemed like a lot of back and forth, and it seemed they really didn’t diagnose what was going on with the unit the first day.
It’s always good to have some type of warranty. I have three or four friends that have American Home Shield, and they're not so happy with it. I left American Home Shield for about four months and I just decided to go back. I don't think American Home Shield is the worst out there, but I don’t know if I'd say it's the best. In terms of the price, it’s good because I used to pay $80 before, and when I came back, I’m only paying $15.
Thank you for your honest review, Curtis. We appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give us another chance in the future to provide you with a more positive experience. Sincerely, Marc

Our AC would not cool and so I submitted a claim online through AHS. The contractor who came out was extremely friendly. They looked for a leak, couldn't find a leak, so they said that it was good to go. Just like the last two years, it works. But next year, I'm sure we'll have the same problem, because it's been the third year. I know it's gonna come back.
When we bought our house, it came with the warranty. We've had it for 14 years. The positive is not having to pay out-of-pocket every year or whenever something breaks. The negative is you may have to wait several weeks. This last time, they didn't do anything with it for almost four weeks. When we called to check the status, they said, "You'll have to find your own contractor," which no contractor will deal with a home warranty company around here. The next day, they said, "It's been assigned to Kingdom Heating & Air." And when Kingdom came out, they said that was the first time that they had been notified that there was an open claim and they're the only vendor in this area for AHS. It's aggravating because they lied to us when they said, "You'll have to find your own vendor. We can't find any in your area." I think Kingdom has been out a few times.
AHS saves you money, though. If you're willing to wait, it'll save you money.

American Home Shield sent a guy out quickly, but the issue I had was with the gentleman that came out. The fridge and freezer stopped working because there was no refrigerant in it, and all he did was fill it back up and leave.
My thinking is if there's no refrigerant, there's a leak somewhere. He never did a leak check. He never pressurized the system to see if there's any leaking. He just filled it up and left. I tried calling him he didn't answer. I sent a message, didn't reply back to me. And then I talked to American Home Shield about it and they said that they would wait a week and call me back and see if the fridge wasn't cooling and freezing. They called back and I was at work. I talked to the lady the second time she tried calling back. I talked to her and I'm over it. I got a different company I'm going with.
I liked the swiftness that they got someone out there. I called and someone was out there the next day. But I feel American Home Shield doesn't really vet their contractors that they send out, because I didn't have a good experience with the company that came out to fix the fridge.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for four months. Then, Snowy Summit Garage Door came out for the garage door opener. The issue is that it only worked intermittently. And as time went by, it worked less and less. They diagnosed it as a logic board problem. The opener was 20 years old, and they replaced it.
I made the request online, and the response time was pretty good. The customer service was fine. It was pretty much all online. But I did not realize that there was a $100 service fee for a claim. So that was just sort of an unpleasant surprise.
Obviously, it said that they're referring me to a service provider. I expected that to take a day or two and it took about that long. But the Snowy Summit responded pretty quickly.

I would say that everything went well with American Home Shield. The contractor, KW Heating, went out because a switch was turned off, up in the attic area, and it was causing it not to function. Well, it was so simple for $150. He didn't know how the switch got turned off.
The room was stifling hot. It was like a bonus room that had a separate system. And so, all he had to do was turn the switch on and the temperature started working again.
I usually do the request online. I have their website with my password. I haven’t really used it that much but I think it does a good job.
I think the price is high. It used to be 100 and it went up to 125 now, and I’m a little disappointed that it went up that high. But, I’d tell others that it would be a good group to go with.

When we first moved in the house, we had issues with an attic fan and a bathroom fan. That claim went through, and everything was fine. We didn’t need to use American Home Shield until the air conditioner in May. It’s been a mess from there. The contractor recently came out and replaced the unit after almost three months. But within 24 hours, the motor in the air conditioner that they replaced went bad. They came out and said it was warranty work. They have been working with American Home Shield. American Home Shield has said that they cannot provide the parts. With that, we are sitting with a brand-new air conditioner that is faulty, and we are waiting something.
The only person I have heard from is the technician. He's been great. They messaged me two times today, telling me that they were unable to get the part and they were contacting home warranty. The second time they contacted me, they said that American Home Shield cannot get the part to them. The person explained to American Home Shield that the system they were trying to install, many parts were on backorder, parts that they hadn’t seen in months because they’re coming from overseas. He urged them multiple times to utilize a different system that the parts were available, and American Home Shield said no. They moved forward and installed the Lennox, which now has a bad motor, and no one can get the part for it.
I have received three emails from American Home Shield today saying that they’ve transferred the service. They set it up with a new technician, but there is no information as of yet. They haven’t called me but only sent me an email that said I have a new technician and to wait 24 hours to hear from them. We’re in the Midwest and have 100-degree days, and the issue has been ongoing since May.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience. I sincerely apologize for the ongoing challenges and frustrations you've faced with your air conditioner claim. I think the claim process with AHS is kind of hard. We’re in the United States, and I feel like we should have somebody here that can speak English. I submitted a claim for my hot water heater because it wasn't heating. Getting in contact with an actual representative is very hard. You call and they go through a pitch, but you never really get through, it's several things, it's like a recording.
I like nothing about the service. They draft $100 out of my account before anything is ever done, and the payments are too high. I’ve been with American Home Shield since ‘99 only because I don’t like changing stuff, but it’s gotten ridiculous. I just can’t go with almost $1,300 for a hot water heater. Most of the time, they never pay the claim. I could put that money in savings and probably pay for whatever’s going wrong. I’m looking right now for a different company. I’d choose somebody else.

My air conditioning wasn’t cold, so I submitted an online claim to American Home Shield. It was easy. I received a text message about the person that's gonna be here and a link where I could track when he was gonna arrive. The contractor was really good. He did a thorough inspection including the things other than the problem that we were having. He replaced the part that needed to be replaced and it worked fine. He told us some of the things that we probably should have done or needed to have done.
I like that it’s easy to go online and get repairs scheduled. Their website is good, but if you want to talk to somebody, it’s hard to get in touch with their customer service. Once you do, they don’t really listen, and you have to go to supervisors. If I don’t have to talk to them, it’s fine. If I have to reach out or ask questions, it’s a process.
They also need to improve on the quality of the contractors. Comfort Pro was an exception to most of the contractors that I’ve worked with with American Home Shield. They went above and beyond what they needed to do. Some contractors aren’t as thorough, aren’t as good, and aren’t as qualified. It can be a struggle sometimes to get American Home Shield to pay if something is broken and can’t be fixed. We had a hot water heater issue where we ended up paying for it and then fighting them to reimburse us.
I tell people to get American Home Shield. Most home warranty companies are probably pretty similar and cost about the same. But it seems like we’re paying more and they’re not covering as much. We’ve been with them for so long that it’s not worth changing.
Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience with American Home Shield. We are delighted to hear that you found the online claim process to be seamless and appreciated the professionalism of Comfort Pro LLC. The basement toilet was overflowing, so I initially called a contractor from American Home Shield and set an appointment. A young man came to fix it. He wasn’t rude. I showed him the problem downstairs and left him. He started working and used a toilet snake. He explained that the first place he tried was the overflow hole, not the main line. Water jumped on him because it didn’t have a place to go. From that, I think he was already upset because he got sprayed by the water from the toilet, and didn’t attempt the main line anymore. I know he didn’t because opening the main line makes a mess, but it was completely clean.
While inspecting the toilet, he kept saying he found a wipe in the toilet and implied the company wouldn’t accept the claim because of it. He said he wouldn’t report it as a favor. I asked if he could use the small hand-crank snake in the toilet. He said he didn’t have one and that insurance said it was a main line issue. I explained I only told customer service my bathroom was overflowing and didn’t know about a main line. He made excuses and refused to try. He used a pressure tool for the washing machine pipe but did not use it on the main line.
I called the contractor’s customer service again. The rep said that I gave wrong information. I explained I only said my bathroom was overflowing. I was then transferred to a supervisor who was so rude, talked over me, and accused me of getting aggravated about the declined work order, which I didn’t even know about. They then passed me to the owner. I tried to explain that I’m not a plumber, I need help, and nobody is listening to me. He got mad and shouted at me. Each person I spoke to was worse than the previous.
I have a stutter and when I’m speaking, I’m trying to do the best I can. Interacting with them was horrible. After that, I just had to go to my bed, and just lay down, because I felt humiliated by all those people by the way they spoke to me. It wasn’t fair and professional. Ultimately, American Home Shield sent somebody else over and he opened the main line. It made a mess confirming the first person did nothing. The second person was able to fix the problem which is the main line. I didn’t have to pay the service fee since the first company didn’t do a good job.

I heard from my neighbor that American Home Shield was good, so I chose them. I am a new customer, and I hadn’t gotten my warranty book in the mail yet. They sent a technician out for my dryer. He didn’t say a word about anything, just looked at my dryer in my sunroom, and said it was just a knob and that he would send it in. I got a notification that they were coming on Monday, but when I called that Monday, they told me they were not servicing my dryer because it was out of the foundation. I would have liked somebody to have told me that sooner after I waited a week. I could have bought a new one or had another technician come out that lives right here in Norco. Eventually, a technician came out. He was very protocol. He called or texted when he was coming. I don’t have a problem with the technician at all.
My neighbor has American Home Shield too, and has been waiting two weeks for her washer to be fixed. My best friend’s daughter is going through the same thing here in Norco with her washing machine. There is too much waiting time and too much back and forth. They should either make a decision and do it or not do it. They shouldn’t leave us hanging. I’m giving them one more chance, and then I’m probably going to cancel if it’s not good.
