I had to deal with an appliance breakdown and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for the repair.
When the technician came out for the repair, he was very nice and helpful. Although he had to obtain some parts, which took about a week, this delay was within the expected timeframe, and I didn't experience any inconvenience beyond that.
Once the repair was completed, the appliance has been functioning smoothly without any issues. I'm satisfied with the service provided.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield when my air conditioning unit stopped working. The issue was a clogged line, but once the technician arrived, he quickly flushed it out, and everything has been working fine since. The tech was very professional and efficient.
I used their app to file the claim, and the process was smooth. However, it's important to note that there was a bit of a wait from the time I submitted the request to when someone came out. This was stressful since it was about 100 degrees, and we had to stay in a hotel until the AC was fixed. I hope they can improve this response time, especially for urgent cases like AC issues during a heatwave. Nonetheless, the service was solid.

My first claim with AHS turned into a nightmare. We lost power in our master bedroom and living room; hence, we needed an electrician, not just ceiling fans replaced. The first electrician sent by American Home Shield showed up with just a 4 ft ladder and couldn't even go into the attic to address the root of the problem. She determined the issue was due to incorrect breakers, but someone else later discovered that the solution was incorrect upon fixing our air conditioning. We ended up hiring our own electrician to ensure we got it right.
This process involved multiple calls and switching electricians. One positive aspect was Vince, an air conditioning professional who was knowledgeable and provided excellent service. However, dealing with American Home Shield's customer service became frustrating, as they continuously misunderstood our need for electricity, not new ceiling fans. Despite the challenges, once we hired the right expert outside the coverage, things improved.
In this case, the experience was quite stressful, leading me to rate American Home Shield as very dissatisfied.

My recent experience with AHS involved submitting a claim for an issue with a water filter that wasn't seated properly. The process was quite seamless. I made a call to initiate the claim and spoke with an AHS rep. The interaction was smooth and quite professional.
When it came to dispatching the contractor, I was provided with the necessary contact information beforehand. Not long after the contractor's visit, everything was performing just fine.
Typically, engaging with their service is quick and uncomplicated. They use some impressive video analysis techniques that I appreciate. While most contractors have displayed excellent service levels, there have been rare instances of experiencing less-than-optimal contractor interactions.
All in all, my choice to go with American Home Shield was based on its reputation and user recommendations, which haven't let me down. While I encountered a minor inconvenience with contact information being sent to my wife's number instead of mine, adjusting that is a minor hurdle compared to the reliability their service promises.

My recent experience involved a claim for an appliance needing service through Sears. The initial process of setting up an appointment went smoothly. The technician, who was quite professional, arrived as scheduled and diagnosed the issue correctly. Unfortunately, things took a downturn with the installation scheduling. I didn’t receive any communication from Sears informing me of scheduling changes until late in the evening, which was frustrating.
When the installation finally occurred, it was executed perfectly, and I was satisfied with the outcome. In the past, I've had similar positive experiences with my other warranty claims handled through them, such as with my washer and refrigerator - both went well. My only suggestion for improvement with American Home Shield and their associate contractors is to enhance the communication process, especially regarding any schedule changes. This experience was the first substantial issue when notifications fell through the cracks.
Overall, apart from the scheduling mishap with Sears, American Home Shield consistently delivers good service, and I rate them very highly.

American Home Shield warranties are comprehensive even for older homes. My initial contact with them began when our utility bills unexpectedly increased, leading us to suspect a possible leak. The utility company confirmed a constant flow of water at our residence, necessitating investigation. The first technician from American Home Shield assessed the situation but couldn't identify the source of the problem, albeit maintaining a professional demeanor. He suggested we involve SerClean, a company that detected the leak’s location.
However, the plumbing issue persists, and the representatives from Hers and His Plumbing visited us again today. They acknowledged the problem, and we’re now in the process of awaiting paperwork to either repair or replace the troubled areas. As a customer, it can feel disjointed navigating through various stages of the process, though I do acknowledge its potential protection against high out-of-pocket costs, especially for older homes with multiple possible issues.
I’d rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5 so far. Their service is steady but drags in certain operations. I took up the warranty to help manage potential large repairs financially, making the cost worthwhile in my eyes since I have been with them long enough to have paid the equivalent of a water heater. I find their pricing competitive and fair when compared to others in the field. The service experience, including website interactions, has been amicable as well.

As an AHS customer for over 10 years, I've consistently found their customer service to be reliable. They always addressed my concerns, although sometimes their perspective differed from mine, which I came to accept.
The technicians sent out have demonstrated professionalism and knowledge each time. They're courteous, and I've never had issues with their service. However, as I consider my future with them, the costs associated with maintaining the service have become a point of contemplation. I find myself weighing the annual expenses against the returns I receive.
Despite these considerations, I'm satisfied enough to give my relationship with American Home Shield a three-star experience overall.

The process to file a claim with AHS was impressively straightforward. I simply went to their website and hit the big blue button to initiate the claim online. The technician who came to handle the issue was friendly and efficient, wrapping up the work on three doors quickly.
However, the deductible is on the higher side. Fortunately, the swift turnaround and knowing that nothing beyond the deductible is needed once the technician finishes is reassuring.

My air conditioning unit suddenly stopped working, making a bunch of noise and then just refused to turn back on. I reached out to American Home Shield and they coordinated with Fix-It Now Heating and Cooling to get a technician over.
When Alex, the technician, arrived, I was impressed by his punctuality and professionalism. He communicated effectively, explaining the problem and how he planned to resolve it. True to his word, he fixed the AC unit in about 30 minutes, and it worked perfectly after that.
From start to finish, the entire process was smooth. American Home Shield, along with Fix-It Now Heating and Cooling, made sure everything was handled efficiently. They did an excellent job, and I've had no issues since the repair.

I encountered an issue with my garage door—it would click when I pressed the button but wouldn't lift. I submitted a claim by calling directly and appreciated being able to connect with a real person due to a discount situation where I didn't have to pay a fee this time. The assigned technician was not initially who was supposed to come, but he was punctual, professional, and efficient, resolving the problem in just 10 minutes and reassuring me with his offer to return if needed.
Although the convenience of having protection is reassuring, interacting with customer service has been frustrating at times due to language barriers, making communication difficult. Coverage can also be tricky. For instance, when I initially used the service after purchasing my home, I assumed appliances were covered under the policy, but upon extending on my own, I realized extra payment was needed for such coverage.
Another concern is how my account confuses old and new policies, often showing my policy as expired on their website, prompting me to call for clarity. Despite these downsides, I still find American Home Shield convenient for unexpected repairs. There has been a time where I paid for a service call that wasn't covered, which was costly and annoying since my deductible didn't adjust in such cases, but this seemed more like an issue with subcontractor handling than Home Shield itself.
Based on my experience, I rate their service as a 3 for customer support, convenience, and cost. Online tools are sadly inadequate for my needs. Nevertheless, I find some peace of mind knowing assistance is just a call away should things need fixing around my home.

Having been a customer for over three years since I bought my home, I've consistently been impressed by the professionalism and quality of service American Home Shield provides. My experiences with claims have generally been positive, although I did face challenges. For instance, when I submitted a claim for my hood due to a mold issue, the service provider was prompt and efficient. They proposed solutions, although the overall cost was a concern due to additional expenses related to my roof.

The process of booking an appointment for an appliance issue, like my refrigerator that wasn't cooling or freezing, was simple, whether using their app or calling them. After making the request, I received a text message confirming the assignment of my case to All Brands Appliance, who would handle scheduling.
However, my interactions with the contractor, All Brands Appliance, were disappointing. The technician expressed frequent dissatisfaction with certain brands and lacked urgency, taking too long to attend to my needs. Scheduling challenges like their limited workdays compounded these issues, waiting from the 6th to the 19th for a visit, and extending further when additional repairs were needed. The service company also failed to communicate effectively, compounding my frustration when the fridge repair was delayed without initiative from them to expedite further action.
American Home Shield didn't offer me the choice to switch service providers, worsening my negative experience. I previously had them look at an ice maker issue, only for it to result in further complications. My disagreement with their contractor choice underscored my dissatisfaction, leading me to rate my overall satisfaction around a 2 out of 5.
One redeeming quality is the ability to contact American Home Shield anytime, but the improvement is needed in terms of faster appointments and having necessary parts readily available.
Given my experience, I'd advise family and friends about my reservations regarding American Home Shield's service contractors and the delays involved.

I signed up with American Home Shield when I purchased my house in 1998. Initially, I was drawn to the promises of coverage for major appliances and systems, as I was a single parent and found reassurance in the idea that someone else could handle home repairs.
Recently, I submitted a claim for a garage door problem. The process was easy as I just made a simple phone call to get started. The contractors they sent were nice and communicated well, informing me that a bracket had broken and required replacement. This aspect of the experience left me feeling satisfied.
However, my ongoing issues with American Home Shield have primarily been with air conditioner repairs. Over the past five years, I've dealt with recurring refrigerant leaks that were never properly addressed. Despite my repeated escalation of the issue to the company, they merely added refrigerant without actually identifying or repairing the source of the leak. Notably, my coverage did not include the costs for refrigerant, which I had to pay myself, amounting to nearly $1000 each year. When faced with these obstacles, I ultimately decided to purchase a new air conditioner outright to resolve the matter once and for all.
Despite being with American Home Shield for over two decades, which initially felt secure, these issues with repairs have been frustrating. If any appliance like my stove or dryer showed signs of malfunction, they never fully addressed the problem unless it completely stopped working. I often found that this only provided a temporary fix, leading me to purchase new appliances on my own.
I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to friends or family looking for reliable coverage. Their services left me uninspired, and despite a few minor savings here and there, I've concluded that setting money aside for such repairs would've been a better option. While they used to charge $40 a month initially, the costs have risen with no corresponding increase in satisfaction.
In summary, although I've saved a little on specific minor repairs like my garage door issue, this doesn't cover the extensive shortcomings in addressing my air conditioner or other problematic appliances.

I filed an AC claim for the outside unit that wasn't turning on, and it turned out that the capacitor was blown.
A technician from Comfort Master's HVAC came to assist. He was a nice guy and managed to fix the issue on the same day, which I appreciated. Since then, my air conditioner has been working perfectly.
However, while dealing with this, I've run into a problem with my pool pump. I have a request in for that, and the technician who came mentioned that I actually need an HVAC person. I'll have to follow up with American Home Shield to get this resolved.
Additionally, I keep receiving what seems like a promotional offer regarding my air conditioning unit, and I'm unsure if it's because my unit is outdated or if they're just promoting their services.
As for the home warranty service, American Home Shield has definitely improved compared to last year. Overall, my experience with them, besides the pool pump hiccup, has been better recently, and I'd say it's going well.

My daughter and grandson have been quite satisfied with their own experiences with American Home Shield. They recommended that is sign up as well and after having had the protection for about two months, I faced a situation involving my refrigerator. The first techs who came out were nice people but they struggled with sealing the refrigerator properly. American Home Shield had to send another contractor who eventually resolved the issue swiftly and efficiently. His expertise and timely service were commendable.
American Home Shield's service requires a $125 charge every time they visit, a change from my previous plan which included complimentary visits. Despite this, I see value in having a home warranty, especially being at a stage in life where constant replacements aren't feasible. I do, however, wish the response time in emergency situations, like with a refrigerator malfunction, could be faster. I don't like that you have to wait 24 to 48 hours to get service. Other than that, I would advise others that if they can afford it, do the warranty.

American Home Shield home warranty, I have gold plan. They have worst Service, no respect to customer. Reaching their customer service is the most painful. Longer holds no resolution, they use unqualified contractors and send them to perform plumbing service. Recently their contractor came and damaged my toilet by hitting with hammer and runaway giving wrong report small crack when he literally broken the toilet in to 2 pieces, past one week I am still calling for resolution.
The service request is for pipe leak, Technician arrived 6/30/25 morning 9 am and started removing in 2nd floor toilet with wrench and hammer repeatedly, causing heavy damage since it is ceramic material before I notice and ask question, he started shouting at me and left in hurry, I reported and register complaint still no resolution. I need to call everyday both American Home shield and contractor company. Already provided all required photos still nothing. I wish I did more research and review before even consider American Home shield home warranty. Worst experience ever, never ever consider this company again.

I made a claim with American Home Shield when my dryer stopped working. The issue was with the motor—it had power, but nothing happened when I hit the button. Submitting the claim online was incredibly easy, which I appreciated.
However, the experience took a frustrating turn; the contractor who came was professional, but due to American Home Shield's policy of sourcing parts, there was a significant delay. I had to wait over a week for the part to arrive, whereas the contractor mentioned they could have fixed it in a day if they could purchase the motor themselves. This caused quite an inconvenience.
Over my years with American Home Shield, I've noticed that while they are reliable and ultimately fulfill home warranty needs with respectable companies, their service isn’t as great as it used to be. The co-pays continue to rise, which is disappointing. I have to mention that when making repairs, they outsource parts, which means neither I nor the repair technician knows if these parts are new, repurposed, or even the same brand as the appliance being fixed.
For anyone considering them, my advice would be to do thorough research and compare different home warranty services. Understand exactly what coverage you'll get and the timeframes, so there are no surprises. Though I've had a long-standing relationship with them, the value seems to decrease over time. Despite this, I can't deny they cover everything in my home that I need, and navigating their website is relatively straightforward. I just wish the cost appeared to reflect the actual value and efficiency they promise.

American Home Shield sent out a company for our air conditioner. We were told by American home Shield they would cover 5,000 for a replacement. They refused. The company that came out during the winter wanted $14,000. We live in Phoenix. Another company just came July and wanted to give us a knock off Trane for $8,900. We called a company not associated with AHS and they sold us a Trane for $8,500. Be careful using anyone associated with AHS. We were scammed and lied to.

It started off Good. They are very good at taking your money on time. Texting you to pay your money on time. Reminding you to set up auto pay. But the second something goes wrong it's gonna take like me and my refrigerator... 7 months to get fixed. So long that Consumer affairs called me and said Damn... you been waiting that long. They are the worst warranty company I've ever experienced. Literally right now as I type this, My dishwasher broke and I filed a claim on the 17th. Told them I was moving and would only have a short time to access the dishwasher. They sent out a appliance guy who said it was a electrical issue, then they send out a electrician who says the device is old and needs to be replaced. So he says it's a appliance issue but when they try to reach the appliance guy he doesn't answer for 10 ** DAYS and when he does he says it's a electrical issue.
I've spoken to 5 different representatives who tell me we have to contact the appliance guy but he won't answer and to call back in 4 hours. If they don't respond then AHS will send another appliance guy. But when I call back in the 4 hours, I'm met with another representative who tells me they have to reach out to the appliance guy. And if he doesn't respond in 4 hours call back and they'll do it again. See the loop they keep you in to not honor what you're paying for? If I had a million followers I would definitely tell them to stay they hell away from this company. But since I'm just 1 small dot on their billion dollar radar, it means nothing. For the sake of all that is Good. DO NOT MESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I've been a homeowner for eight months and I've been with American Home Shield since then. The service was suggested to me, likely due to its popularity among other new homeowners, so I went with it even though I wasn't entirely sure how to pick a provider myself. Recently, I had to deal with a leak in my ceiling. I submitted a claim for the issue through their website. While the site itself was relatively easy to navigate, I experienced difficulty since the options for types of leaks were limited and somewhat misleading. It provided choices like pipe or bathtub leaks, but none that matched my specific issue. This made describing the actual problem a bit challenging.
When it came to the contractor dispatch process, American Home Shield selected the company and consultant without offering me any choices. Although I didn't have much direct communication with anyone beforehand, the service professionals that came to my home were very professional. Unfortunately, they were unable to resolve the issue because the leak I faced wasn't covered under the available options on the site. This ultimately meant I had to pay to rectify the issue independently, leaving me quite dissatisfied with the overall experience.
Despite being with American Home Shield for almost eight months and not having any issues initially, this incident colored my perception. I found the lack of customization frustrating, and while the service personnel acted professionally, the inability to handle my specific problem left me feeling very dissatisfied with the service.

Never forget.. insurance and warranties are in the business of NOT covering…. My backyard spigot was leaking…. impossible to turn off. AHS sent out a plumber who literally installed a used, rusted piece of hardware.. and it still leaked. I had to pay again for a second visit… so I just cancelled this pathetic service.

The dryer stopped all of a sudden. We smelled this burning smell and then the dryer didn't work. I called into AHS and then they assigned Premier to come out. When the tech looked at it, he said that the motherboard was burned out and that he was gonna have to order that. They ordered it and it took a couple of weeks for that. Then they came back. When the tech put that piece in, he found out that something else in there was burnt out too. So, that had to be ordered and he came back a week later and put that in.
When the tech fixed the dryer, he called and said when he turned it on, there was sparks up the top, near where the hose come. He thought that maybe the electric was messing with the dryer. So, he cut the dryer off and showed me what he thought it was. Then when he went to turn the dryer back on, it did come on. But he had to cut off the power. He said he was gonna call in to have electrician to come out.
The electrician came out three days after that and he went through everything. He said he didn't find anything wrong with our electricity. We didn't know whether something from the dryer and that vent coil may have touched and made that spark come up. But he found everything was okay. When he pushed the button, the dryer worked. So, he said he was gonna send it back to the dryer people to come back out. But right now, the dryer is working.

They say it we can cancel anytime, but cancellation is difficult. Firstly, the phone number that is mentioned for cancellation doesn’t work, all calls direct to somewhere else and don’t direct you to cancellation. If you are able to reach with much difficulty, they will change a fee while cancellation. Also, they charge $125 per visit, but if the request has to be transferred to another team, they close the ticket and ask us to pay another $125. Frustrated with the service.

The air conditioning unit wasn't cooling as expected – it wouldn't go lower than 74 degrees, and then it even climbed to nearly 79. When Crispy Air came out to inspect the situation, the technician suggested that an evaporative coil needed removal and transport to their office, leaving me without air conditioning for an uncertain period. This seemed suspicious, so I sought a second opinion while the initial technician was still present.
I got in touch with another technician named Sean. He quickly came over and informed me that the removal of an evaporative coil was unnecessary and possibly a ruse to overcharge me. Sean added the required Freon and sealed any potential leaks, which solved the problem entirely. Before Sean's intervention, Crispy Air even attempted to convince me to buy a new air conditioner, though my current unit was functioning adequately after the service.
After this experience, I reached out to American Home Shield for assistance. They offered cash in lieu for repairs, stating that replacements seemingly unnecessary to me, like an evaporative coil, had to be part of the deal. Despite escalating this issue to American Home Shield, I did not receive a satisfactory response, undermining my trust in their service.

IA while ago, I faced a leak in my washing machine. I submitted a repair claim online, which was straightforward, but it had its challenges, especially with the offer of a free call visit that didn’t automatically apply through their automated system. Despite that hiccup, American Home Shield has consistently been superior in providing home repair solutions. During my time with them, they've replaced various appliances such as my dishwasher, a refrigerator, and even a washing machine, sometimes even twice. Their commitment to quickly solve issues without compromising on quality has always impressed me. In fact, I found them to be highly responsive and supportive, providing replacements promptly within a week.
After switching back to them about ten years ago following a difficult stint with another service, I've experienced a rare phenomenon of honesty and satisfaction in service agreements. Upon noticing the air conditioning malfunction, I contacted American Home Shield, and they promptly assigned a service company to address it. Unfortunately, the company they sent initially assessed the issue incorrectly and disappeared. It took another company, Advanced Air, to finally take over. They managed to diagnose and eventually resolve the problem after replacing two condensers. This whole ordeal lasted two months, during which I endured multiple periods without cool air.
It felt as though the companies sent by the warranty aren't gonna do more than they have to for what they're getting paid. When comparing this to hiring a repair service independently, it's apparent that under normal circumstances, these repairs would likely have been completed in a much shorter timeframe. Despite my frustrations, Advanced Air stepped in and performed admirably once they got involved.

My experience has been a mix of highs and lows. I had an issue with multiple fans in my home—two in the bedroom, one in the living room, and a couple of exhaust fans—that simply stopped working. I faced a frustrating situation where the contractors told me there was nothing wrong, despite the fans being out of commission. I ended up replacing everything myself, which was not what I expected.
The communication gaps have been a significant pain point. When I describe a problem, there's often a disconnect in how the issue is relayed to the service providers. For instance, if I mention issues in the bedroom, the contractors end up checking the bathroom, which causes unnecessary delays and frustration. Moreover, there's a lack of prompt updates from American Home Shield regarding unresolved issues. In some cases, I've had to wait weeks for updates, only to find out they wouldn't be handling the repairs further, leaving me with disgruntled tenants and no solutions. Throughout this, American Home Shield did offer reimbursements for certain DIY repairs I undertook, which was a small relief.

Recently, I faced an issue with my air conditioning, and here's how it went. Initially, I called in my claim to American Home Shield on a Sunday night after noticing the problem, and they assigned United Air Temp to handle the repair. The scheduling process was quite chaotic. I was given an appointment for Wednesday, but then I was called late Tuesday night to say that they could only attend to me on an on-call basis.
Despite my request for a clear appointment, particularly after being without air conditioning, when the technician finally called at 10 PM, it was too late to assess the air conditioning. Another rescheduling took place, and after many back and forths with both United Air Temp and American Home Shield, a technician arrived Wednesday evening. I found this delay frustrating since I had been told I was on their schedule.
The repair itself was adequately handled by the technician, as he was professional and communicative about the issue. However, he also hinted that the system might be approaching the end of its lifespan due to recurring wire problems. As much as I appreciated the repair, I was disappointed with the manufacturer's apparent reluctance to replace the unit. While the temporary fix is nice, the knowledge that it might soon break down again is concerning. Ultimately, the customer service team at American Home Shield was helpful in ensuring the technician showed up, but I plan to contact them to see if a more permanent solution, like replacing the system, can be explored given it's an older model.

American Home S#!t is a complete and utter scam and ripoff organization out to take your premiums but doing everything they can to avoid paying out when you need it. They are impossible to communicate properly with - wait times of over an hour to get through to a call center in the Indian subcontinent with operators who are unable to provide detailed information on denial of coverage or any other issues - if you can actually understand what they are saying at all.
I had service denial on a ceiling fan which should be covered, with their claim that it is in a "dangerous and/or inaccessible location" (errr, it's attached to the ceiling), and an issue with a wall AC unit that has been ongoing for 4 months without resolution. Two assessments have said it needs replacing, but AHS is dragging and saying they cannot find a contractor and are making excuses to say it is not covered. They take your $100 for each "repair" and refuse to refund it when repairs are not made.
As other reviewers have stated, they offer such low payments to companies to do repairs that most just refuse the job. One AC tech who evaluated my unit told me their company would not handle the replacement because AHS do not pay enough to cover the full job expenses. Hours and hours wasted on the phone, many $s wasted, months passing with no progress, mornings and afternoons off work for technicians who cannot do the repairs. AHS: Anger, Headaches, S#!t service. Run away!

I have multiple properties, and each is under warranty, which seemed like a smart move until things became complicated. American Home Shield initially sent out a company called Crispy Air to examine my AC. They claimed there was a pre-existing condition, which seemed to conveniently align with why the claims remain unpaid. When I reached out for a proper report or even an explanation, there was radio silence. Oddly enough, they had no issue sending me a sky-high estimate of $10,000 to fully replace the system, which I found ethically questionable.
Frustrated, I requested a second opinion, which American Home Shield arranged. This time, the company found a different issue; however, AHS insists the malfunction isn't covered since the part hasn't completely failed yet. It seems ludicrous that they allow the system to malfunction in Arizona’s heat, just because it's not entirely broken. The tenant must turn off the AC system and let it defrost while it's 110 degrees outside. And then once the system defrosts, they can use it again. It's not every day, but every couple of days it seems to happen.
Crispy Air's lack of accountability just adds another layer to unsatisfactory service. While the technicians from the second company were honest about the problem involving the fan motor, American Home Shield is dismissing the logical repairs that could prevent total malfunction. It's disappointing that the focus seems to be more on denying claims and less on genuinely fixing the problem for those relying on them for coverage.
In the past, I've had mixed experiences with American Home Shield. They’ve been helpful when replacing a fan motor at another property and are currently cooperating on another purchase. However, my experience with a water heater situation was equally unsatisfactory. AHS would cover the water heater, but what they wouldn't cover all these little extra things. So, in that case, it was cheaper for me just to get the payout. And I put the water heater in myself because it would have cost me a ridiculous amount of money.
Ultimately, these ongoing complications show an inconsistency in service quality when dealing with American Home Shield. As much as you expect coverage to bridge the gaps when unexpected costs and failures loom large, reliance proves hit-or-miss. While I do agree it's not all bad rummaging through moments when fixes were swiftly executed, scenarios like mine do bring shortcomings into stark relief, where contractor motivations feel misaligned. I'm currently working with my attorney because it feels unethical. It's frustrating dealing with their rigid criteria while the AC remains, at best, half-working. Considering the size of the bill for necessary fixes, it's disappointing.

The technician from Appliance Mavericks visited us several times as he tried to identify the persistent issue with my dishwasher. He came back and forth a couple of times because I had questions and issues, and answered everything fully. He worked the whole time he was here. He was not a jibber-jabber unless I asked him a question. But he had to take the control panels and all the hoses off the dishwasher, and completely rebuild that. He kept coming back to visit to see if what he had done was repaired, because he couldn't figure out where the actual issue was. It kept coming up with error codes, so he worked his way through it and wound up having to replace things. He wound up that he took apart another part. And he said they would have to replace everything.
The guy said he was trying to keep the cost down. I said I was paying for them, but I appreciate him wanting to keep the costs down. While the solution took some time, I appreciated the dedication. The effort he put into fixing the problem while being polite and keeping the area tidy was commendable.
As for my past interactions, American Home Shield has been reliable. They've been very good to us over the last couple of things. Despite an unresolved issue with my Samsung stove, where a defect prevented resolution despite multiple attempts to fix it under warranty, the service provided was always composed and efficient. The refrigerator service went smoothly, and overall, my experience has been predominantly positive, with attention to detail and courteous service from the technicians.
When asked if I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend, I believe the continuity of service makes the cost worth it. The quality of customer service has noticeably improved over time. I typically don't leverage online services for requests due to local infrastructure limitations, but this is not an issue with the service itself. Overall, I have received fantastic support from the brand.

I had an issue where my air conditioner was turning on and off intermittently. Smart Choice Heating & Cooling came out to diagnose the issue. Initially, they noted that the system needed a proper cleaning as the coils were dirty, causing it to malfunction, and carbon monoxide emission was also a problem. I addressed these concerns at my own cost since they weren't covered by the warranty.
However, after these fixes, the system still worked intermittently. Upon reordering service, a different technician found the issue was due to faulty bushings on the circuit, which they replaced on the spot. Since then, it's been running perfectly, though I don't mind the initial fixes, as they improved the overall efficiency of my system.
Though I wasn't present when the contractors visited, my sons were, and they indicated that the second technician quickly identified the problem. Previously, I've had a positive experience as American Home Shield went beyond just fixing my oven’s broken heating element, which wasn't available anymore. They instead provided a new, equivalent oven based on my preference for a manufacturer.
Overall, I've found American Home Shield reliable and easy to work with, especially in terms of service requests and replacements when necessary. Despite initial hiccups, they've consistently ensured that everything's resolved efficiently, making their service valuable over time.

I've had American Home Shield for at least a couple of years and the techs have been good. I recently had to make a claim for my dryer, which was making a loud squeal due to bad bearings. They assigned National Platinum and they came out and replaced those. It's all good now.
Sometimes American Home Shield's claim process is really quick, like the recent one with the dryer. National Platinum came out, identified the problem, sourced the parts, and returned for the repair within days. That was nice. However, there have been instances, like with my refrigerator, where the initial appointment and parts acquisition took some time, which was beyond their control. As soon as a technician came in, the issue was quickly taken care of. My experiences include a timely dishwasher repair, and overall, I find the service satisfactory.
The monthly fee is a bit on the high side, but considering the quality of the technician visits and repairs, I find it worth it. Given my experience, I'd gladly recommend American Home Shield to others looking for a home warranty.

American Home Shield sent Tom Melton Services to assist with an issue in my basement. We faced a problem with the spigot not opening and the contractor was great. He quickly addressed the issue and opened the spigot.
I'm pleased with the service and would have no reservations giving it a top rating. Despite only having used American Home Shield once, I can say that my experience with their service person was excellent. Therefore, I’d gladly recommend their service to others. It's great and they have good prices. While I wasn't actively involved in the claim process and it was mainly handled by my son, I felt reassured knowing that American Home Shield provided reliable service.

When my AC started acting up, the process of arranging for Earl's Air Conditioning to come out was smooth because I made the arrangement with American Home Shield over the phone, not being too familiar with the online setup. The representative on the phone made the whole customer service interaction pleasant.

I've generally appreciated American Home Shield's quick response times in the past—especially when dealing with a clogged drain and an issue with my washing machine. They acted promptly then. But my recent experience has been less than satisfactory. Currently, I'm struggling with a plumbing issue that has led to turning off my water completely. The leakage problem in the wall initially started small but has since escalated, affecting my finished basement and cutting off the water needed for my garden and animals, right during a brutal heatwave. Despite reaching out, the soonest I can expect service is by Monday, which leaves me trying to manage without water for several days.
In another instance, the service for an oven replacement and various claims were handled professionally. However, no one wants to live without water especially when caring for others like animals. I’ve resorted to borrowing water from neighbors to get by. While previous interactions with American Home Shield have been favorable, the slow response during this pressing situation—labelled as an emergency—has compelled me to reconsider my current satisfaction with their services. I certainly hope services can expedite in such critical situations, allowing for water, an essential resource, to be restored rapidly.

A1 Phoenix Plumbing was dispatched twice—a technician assessed the leak, concluded a report, but the leakage issue remains unresolved a week and a half later, leaving me waiting for feedback. When they first visited, a leak wasn’t initially found, but upon a second inspection, it became evident. Throughout the visits, there were language barriers with the technicians, potentially affecting the problem-solving process. Despite this, their attitude was not negative. However, it seems they weren’t fully equipped to resolve the problem at hand.
Even though American Home Shield has historically provided good service, and part of the appeal has been their steady reliability despite service fees climbing due to inflation, this recent incident left me reconsidering. It was frustrating not to receive a follow-up yet, especially after providing video evidence of the leak. Though I’ve been a customer for a considerable time without issue, this lingering problem has led to disappointment. They waived successive fees due to the unresolved issues but the time elapsed since the last expert visit has been disheartening, impacting my trust in their efficacy.

There was a time when I had to deal with a leak from the faucet handle that prompted me to use American Home Shield's service, which connected me with a contractor named Patriot Plumbing. Unfortunately, when the technician arrived, he struggled to remove the faucet handles and discovered that the faucets were quite old and needed replacement. Since he didn’t have a replacement faucet with him, it needed to be ordered. Due to selling the house, I ended up leaving the replacement to the new owners. Despite this situation, I found the service request process quite straightforward. I believe having a home warranty can be advantageous as American Home Shield managed to get contractors dispatched promptly.

Overall, American Home Shield's service has been mostly satisfactory. There's only been one incident that left me less than pleased. When our toilet's seal seemed off, a technician came out to show me that the moisture was due to my husband's shower habits rather than an issue with the seal. Despite his assurance, the leakage continued, meaning I'll have to pay another $125 for a revisit. That's frustrating, but aside from that, I must say every other service call has been timely and helpful. One standout experience was with a tech named Victor, who tackled our very old dryer. He was incredibly diligent, going above and beyond, which left me quite impressed. It's this level of extra effort that keeps me appreciative of the service, in general.

Rooter King Plumbing came out to fix my shower because I was having trouble with turning the water on and off. The technician replaced a part, and now it works wonderfully. My experience with the American Home Shield claim process, overall, has been fine. However, I do find it somewhat difficult to reach someone when I need to talk to a representative. Despite that, the technicians who come out are all good. Overall, I am satisfied with their service and would recommend American Home Shield.

American Home Shield sent out Able Heating and AC Appliance and the technicians efficiently identified a leak in the cooling mechanism inside my house. The team had to return to complete the repair because some parts needed ordering, but they addressed everything promptly upon their return. The technicians' attitudes were commendable—professional and courteous throughout the process.
Since the repair, I've had no further issues, and everything is functioning smoothly. I'm very content with my home warranty service, so much so that I fully intend to continue subscribing to American Home Shield. They have proven to be reliable, offering peace of mind with home repairs, and I confidently rate their service as excellent.

A friend had positive feedback for American Home Shield and the recommendation made me opt for this home warranty service. Overall, I've found the process of submitting a claim to be straightforward and efficient. Whether I'm using the phone or going online, making a claim is easy and they respond quickly by sending someone out to assess and fix the issue.
In my experience, I've only encountered a problem once. The first air conditioner technician was quite difficult, insisting the issue was pre-existing. However, after providing necessary documentation to counter his claim, another technician came by and confirmed it was a new problem and resolved it efficiently. This bumped up the reliability of their service in my opinion.
What's great about American Home Shield is the ease of use. If a home issue arises, I can simply make a call or go online, submit my claim, and they take it from there.
I have to acknowledge that the price of the service aligns with the coverage I receive. Although I initially opted for the gold plan, in hindsight, the platinum package might have been a better deal for my needs. If you’re considering American Home Shield, keep in mind they offer extensive coverage, and for me, the plan has proven to be worth the cost
American Home Shield's customer service has been solid, being very friendly and responsive despite the initial hiccup. For a home warranty service, I'd truly recommend them to a friend without hesitation.

The hall light would blink persistently, and neither of my two fans would operate correctly—power reached them, but the blades refused to spin. When Electric Service Professionals LLC stepped in, they were promptly professional, knowledgeable, and approachable—a 10 out of 10 for service!
They efficiently diagnosed the issue, and it turned out that the hall light just needed a bulb replacement—a simple fix, but one I couldn't manage myself due to needing a ladder. As for the fans, replacing parts might have been a challenge due to their age, but the team clearly outlined the situation.
Overall, this contractor interaction was immensely positive. After facing hurdles with American Home Shield in past dealings, I noticed they've improved lately, offering quicker responses in the last two years. I'd likely suggest them to friends or family now if they were seeking a service, given these recent improvements.
I appreciate the company's honesty in addressing potential appliance issues on my end like my old HVAC system, which I maintain diligently. Going forward, I'm hopeful they will continue to assist effectively when necessary.

Having been a customer for 10 to 15 years, my experience with American Home Shield’s customer service has been utterly disappointing. My air conditioner broke down and it took a staggering 76 weeks for them to resolve the issue, and contacting customer service was nothing short of a hassle. I was consistently connected to representatives overseas who did not understand my concerns thoroughly, as none were based in America — contradicting the "American" aspect of their brand name.
This outsourcing of jobs affected the communication and resolution process. I live in an area where temperatures can soar to 110 degrees, which made the delay intolerable. In the meantime, I had to purchase window air conditioners just to cope.
Additionally, to my dismay, I ended up paying $750 out of pocket to an installer for the repair, despite supposedly having insurance coverage. There was an implication that I could've been charged much more, highlighting a gap between what's advertised and the real customer experience. They claim to cover 100% of costs, but this wasn't the case at all. You can look on the internet and see that they don't have a good reputation for air conditioners. They fight it as much as they can. They make you pay as much as they possibly can make you pay.
While it is worth mentioning that the customer service representatives I spoke with were polite, the entire ordeal made me realize that I prefer speaking with someone domestically who better understands such issues.
American Home Shield needs to reevaluate their service strategy, especially regarding their claims about full coverage, and improve response times significantly. The company shouldn't underestimate customer needs in extreme weather situations.

American Home Shield was a recommendation from my manager and initially, everything seemed promising. They approved our request to have the AC unit swapped out as it was too small for our house. However, we never received further information on the timeline or any communication regarding when this would happen.
The lack of follow-up has been frustrating. My partner had to wait a few hours for the initial technician visit without receiving any subsequent updates. Despite my repeated attempts to get more information, we're still left waiting over a month later without any heads-up from American Home Shield on the next steps.
Although the financial aspect has been manageable, I feel the communication, or lack thereof, leaves much to be desired. The process has been stagnant despite continuous payments, which is worrisome, especially since we're expecting a baby soon. The temperature issue has been a concern due to the inadequate AC coupled with the summer heat.
I'm a first-time homeowner and this experience has been eye-opening in terms of service expectations. I wish to see some action before my daughter arrives in October.

SJDI Electric came out when an appliance outlet stopped working and the electrician assessed the situation, and attempted to change a breaker. During the replacement, it sparked, leaving parts of the house without power. He left without restoring electricity, which I only discovered when my husband came home. I called back and the electrician came back that night to get that power on. He told us it was temporary and may not last.
American Home Shield initially communicated that they wouldn’t cover the costs. We received a hefty bill and were advised by the electrician that we needed a whole new electrical box. This seemed exaggerated as our regular electrician managed to resolve the issue for just $60. He visited promptly, restored power within 30 minutes, and provided sensible advice for future upgrades without pushing unnecessary services.
I implied to American Home Shield that the chosen electrical company seemed more interested in upselling than genuinely fixing the issue. Holding a membership for over ten years across two properties, I’ve rarely called upon American Home Shield, so this experience was particularly vexing. Leaving us without electricity and failing to return promptly seemed unacceptable. I felt the need to reiterate this electricity fix was deceptively represented as complex when it wasn’t.
Reflecting on our interactions with American Home Shield’s contractors, particularly over the past three years, I rate my experience a 3 out of 5. While their service isn’t wholly unsatisfactory, this particular incident and another similar one have affected my trust.

The AC upstairs was not cooling properly and American Home Shield sent a technician to fix it. Unfortunately, the repair was inadequate, leading to a flooded ceiling which now needs entire replacement. Despite my request, they refused to send a different technician, sending the same one who was unable to resolve the issue both times.
This isn't the first issue I've encountered. The same AC unit had a problem previously and was apparently replaced, yet it continues to fail every summer requiring multiple service visits. I even suspect the unit they installed might be used.
American Home Shield's persistence in sending the same company despite repeated failures led me to rate my experience as very poor. They have consistently refused my requests for a different service provider, which has been frustrating. I hope my feedback helps them improve, though I've yet to see effective service.

In the 20 years that I’ve been with American Home Shield, my experience with them has been positive. The customer service has been good, and except for one company, I haven't had issues with the technicians they send out. On the few occasions I've requested a change, they've been accommodating.
However, there's one downside I need to mention. Over the years, I've noticed that the service charges have been steadily increasing, as have my payments. This ongoing increment has made me consider looking at other options. Despite this, American Home Shield has been a reliable service provider, meeting most of our needs efficiently.
That's why confidently, I would rate my experience as top-notch, though I do feel the rising costs should be addressed for long-term customers.

My mom recommended American Home Shield , and I've been a customer since around 2016. My recent experience, however, was less than ideal when a problem occurred with my refrigerator and freezer; the temperature wasn’t holding properly. I called to submit a claim, and fortunately, it was quite easy.
Sears contractors arrived late, and their service was disappointing—they seemed unable to address the issue effectively. On the bright side, American Home Shield stepped in and gave me a credit because they couldn’t find a replacement for the exact model. Their quick response was the standout feature of the service.
In terms of ratings, I would give their customer service and coverage a solid 5, even though I'm not as thrilled about the price due to its increase, rating it a 3. Overall, my experience reinforced why I've stayed with them, and I appreciate the responsive support I've consistently received.

My sewer drain in the basement was clogged and American Home Shield sent someone out from J&M HCP, who managed to fix the clog in less than an hour. The technician was incredibly polite, which made the experience pleasant.
I’ve only had to make that one claim, but the process was quite straightforward and easy. Even though I've only been with American Home Shield for a few months, they were quick in their response, arriving just a couple of days after I filed the claim. Up to now, everything has run smoothly. I'm satisfied enough to have already recommended their services to a few friends.

We purchased our house in March and signed up with American Home Shield. I had a claim and they sent out South Pacer Heating. I believe the technician replaced a switch to the compressor. The service was prompt; they came two days after I made the request. The technician was efficient and courteous, which I appreciated.
Regarding costs, I find American Home Shield's prices to be reasonable, though the per-visit cost is higher than my experience with First American. Theirs was $85, while American Home Shield charges $120. Overall, I am satisfied with their services so far and felt comfortable giving them a high rating based on my limited interactions.

My father is elderly. We had a home warranty for appliances and other costly things for his house, about 1 year ago major appliances started to go out, the washer, the refrigerator, the furnace twice, the dishwasher, and the last straw was the AC system...Each time we tried to do a claim with American Home Shield we paid the deductible, spent hundreds and in one case thousands of dollars to be told they couldn't cover it due to a dead spider or dust...There was always an excuse to not cover anything...So we cancelled their policy.. it sounds like a good idea but on a fixed income it's hard to pay for something that literally denied every claim we submitted...16 years my dad paid for his policy monthly and it was all for nothing

My experience with American Home Shield has been smooth and reassuring, especially given a recent issue with the power in our house. When we discovered a loss of power in several outlets linked to vital systems like our alarm and the pump for the water heater, I knew we needed a reliable solution. I submitted a claim online through my cell phone, and the process was very straightforward.
Before the service, I was given the name and contact number for Metro Air Services, who were scheduled to inspect the problem. The technician who came out was knowledgeable, helpful, and provided valuable insights into the issue, though they haven't completed the repair yet. One aspect of American Home Shield that stands out to me is their policy of sending the same technician without charging another service fee if the issue isn't resolved immediately. This has been a significant factor relieving stress, knowing I won't be incurring repeated charges.

Although the process to submit a garage door claim was straightforward and the contractor, Flash Garage Door Services, did an excellent job fixing the problem, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been mixed. While the garage door issue was resolved efficiently, I found that the quality of service is inconsistent—kind of like rolling dice. One can encounter both great and terrible vendors, depending largely on luck.
In a separate incident, I had a significantly challenging experience with a plumbing vendor. The plumber took over two and a half months to address a fairly simple problem, causing considerable frustration as I was left making repeated calls to both American Home Shield and the plumber, only to receive inadequate support and 'favors' rather than real solutions. I believe American Home Shield needs to proactively review the vendors they're partnered with and consider customer feedback more seriously to avoid relying solely on cost.

I've been with American Home Shield for 25 years. Unfortunately, their service didn't meet my expectations. Initially, they sent out O Valley Appliance to diagnose an issue. The technicians from O Valley were diligent, conducting a diagnostic and recommending that plumbing work needed to be involved. Following this, American Home Shield sent out another appliance company called Active Appliance, whose staff were extremely rude and unprofessional.
I later discovered that both companies had reached the same conclusion regarding the need for plumbing work, but the rudeness from the subsequent technicians left me thoroughly dissatisfied. This led me to decide that I never want Active Appliance at my house again. In another instance where American Home Shield needed to send a company for a plumbing issue, I explicitly requested they not send Active Appliance. While there have been some good experiences, the negative interactions have proceeded my dilemma to seek another service provider.

When I encountered a problem with my air conditioning unit, I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they sent out Summer Breeze Heating & Air to address the issue. The technician who came was quite competent; he explained everything clearly. There was a small confusion with the drainage safety switch and in the end, all he needed to do was top off the Freon in both units.

I needed a tune-up service for my AC unit and the technician that American Home Shield sent out was nice. He was not only professional but also kind, efficient, and completed the job. However, even though I'm the customer of the warranty company, it seems like they always side with the technician when the technician is in the wrong. When I had a claim for my refrigerator, it was a nightmare to the point where I wanted to sue them because the warranty company that I was paying wasn't siding with me. American Home Shield should contract with better contractors.

When USA of Texas technicians came out for my gas furnace issue, there were a few visits and the last time, they did a replacement. My furnace has been operating smoothly since then. I've held a plan with American Home Shield since December of 2022, and in that time, the service has been quite reliable to me. During my recent claim, the appliance repair process faced issues, as different technicians were involved, and I had to personally identify the needed part. The first technician never followed up, and the second one, to whom I told the problem, misidentified the part needed. I told the third tech the problem and he bought the same part the second tech bought. Finally, a fourth technician resolved the issue, but the repair spanned over two months — longer than I'd hoped. Moreover, I noticed a consistent price increase with their services. What once cost $40 or $80 per transaction now requires $75 monthly and a $125 charge per service request, which seems steep. Despite these challenges, I rated them a 4.

I've been with American Home Shield for about five years, and while the overall experience has been positive, there are areas that could use improvement. In particular, the website needs an upgrade. It currently lacks user-friendly features, especially when trying to describe equipment issues. More detailed options for reporting problems would enhance the user experience significantly.
When it comes to their contractors, the experience has been generally favorable. While I appreciate the contractors' professionalism and knowledge, the communication from American Home Shield itself could be better. For instance, during my last HVAC issue, I had more direct interaction with the service company rather than with AHS. But the tech from All Tech Air Conditioning was informative and told me that the machine was outdated and needed to be replaced. I haven't heard back from American Home Shield, though.
Despite this, for a new homeowner, the service is valuable since it covers many essential repairs without needing to call contractors directly. It's particularly prompt with smaller issues like plumbing, although larger repairs can take longer to address.

Long story short: They are a scam. Long story long: My AC system kept tripping the breaker, so I knew I needed a new compressor. I contacted American Home Shield (the warranty company that came with the home), and they sent out Comfort Pros. While checking the system, Comfort Pros told me I needed a low-voltage wire and said they would call me with an estimate after checking the price and returning to inspect the system further. I'm a certified electrician—I know that wire costs $23.00. They sent me an estimate for $1,495.00 and closed my claim, meaning I’d have to pay another $125.00 service fee for them to come back out. I replaced the wire myself—it took longer to drive to Home Depot than it did to repair it. When they came back, they told me I needed a compressor—just as I suspected from the beginning—and said they would submit the claim.
Here’s the good part: one of the employees admitted (in so many words) that they have to upcharge because American Home Shield doesn’t pay them enough. When I asked for a formal estimate, I was told they don’t give one. That’s funny—I paid for one. All they tell me is “what my responsibility is.” That’s illegal in New Jersey. I’m a licensed contractor in NJ, so I’ll be contacting the Licensing Authority. American Home Shield told me they will pay $1,261.00 for the condenser, the coil, and the installation—so all parts and labor are being covered. Yet Comfort Pros says I owe them $4,260.00 for a permit and refrigerant? By the way, refrigerant costs $10.00 a pound at most, and I need just 4 pounds for my system.

Moreover, the technicians sent out by American Home Shield have performed exceptionally well. I'm pleased overall.

I submitted a claim with AHS for an electrical issue. A technician came out to troubleshoot an electric outlet that wasn't working and replaced another burnt outlet during the same visit. I'm pleased that the repairs were completed promptly and have had no issues since.
I've been relying on American Home Shield for five years. I've been satisfied with their service, except for an incident a few years back with a repair technician concerning my dryer. The technician was a bit overbearing, offering unsolicited advice beyond the scope of the repair, which was somewhat off-putting.
Despite that instance, my experiences have been mostly positive, and I would give American Home Shield a rating of four.

I opted for a service checkup offered to us by TCA HVAC, which was valued at $100. We took them up on this offer, and fortunately, everything went smoothly. I've been associated with American Home Shield for two years now.
For the sole encounter with the service, my view remains positive. I'd rate it about 4.5 stars. I would recommend AHS to others based on this good fortune.

A technician from Flash Garage Door came to fix my garage door. The repair was straightforward, and since then, I haven't faced any issues with it.
However, there was a mix-up when initiating the service call. Because I have two properties covered by American Home Shield, the initial customer service representative mistakenly dispatched a technician to the wrong address. This oversight extended the resolution time to about two weeks. Despite this hiccup, the company did address the issue in the end.
While their response time could have been quicker, the technicians were efficient once on-site. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was satisfactory.

I had a plumbing issue in both my bathroom and kitchen, and American Home Shield sent over Erin Plumbing. I had some drainage and leakage problems, which the technician handled quite well, resolving everything in a single visit. He was not only competent but also very friendly.
The fact that everything got fixed on the same day was definitely a relief, and everything's working fine now. I was impressed to the extent that I would prefer the same technician for any future issues. His professionalism and efficiency were highly appreciated.

American Home Shield assigned Piedmont Mechanical to service my system and they came out over a course of a couple of visits. Unfortunately, the system was not repaired and still isn’t working properly. When I saw that it wasn’t fixed, I reached out to American Home Shield for assistance. I learned that I'd need to pay again for another service visit, and it seems they won’t be sending Piedmont Mechanical back out.
In reflecting on my overall experience with American Home Shield, I'd rate them around a 3 out of 5 because I have been with them for quite some time, but this situation has been difficult. When it comes to customer service, I usually contact them over the phone. While the experience is generally pretty good, there are occasions when it feels like the support doesn’t fully understand the issue, which can be frustrating.
I feel that the cost of service from American Home Shield is quite high, and I'd rate it a 1 out of 5 for value. It just seems too expensive compared to the service I’ve received.

The technician initially fixed the AC unit, but we later realized it was a deeper circuit board problem. It was reassuring to have a nice, personable, and professional technician assist me, even though we eventually needed another specialist familiar with my building to look into it further.
I ran into a challenge because living in a condominium has its unique conditions with insurance and contractor qualifications. The technicians from American Home Shield were bound by certain limitations, and the reassignment happened multiple times. American Home Shield needs to send me a copy of their insurance coverage, like COI. And nobody would help me do that, which is why I had to go through somebody else.
I had hoped for more flexibility in selecting the right contractor suitable for my building situation since it's vital for me due to housing rules. Having the freedom to choose my own technician would have made resolving the issue quicker. Despite American Home Shield's quality customer service, there is room for improvement in accommodating specific needs like mine.
Overall, I rate the service a 3 because I'm content with the support but facing hurdles due to my unique living situation led to slight frustration. Sharing more flexibility and understanding customer-specific circumstances could enhance the experience significantly.

There was a leak on the refrigerator and setting up my service request online with American Home Shield was simple. The response time was just about two days and met my expectations. When PJ Appliances arrived, they effectively resolved the issue with my refrigerator.

Currently, I'm dealing with a persistent issue with my air conditioner. Over several summers, it hasn’t performed well, and despite various attempts to repair it, it still struggles. I’m hoping American Home Shield will recognize it can't be fixed and will consider replacing it, especially after a tough night where it was 77 degrees inside when set at 69.
Typically, I submit claims through a call, though occasionally I use their online platform. We have two systems, but the positive aspect has been them considering a single service fee for both, instead of charging separately, which many technicians insist on for dual checks.
I’ve found their technicians understand our preference to stay with the same service company, and though it took a few calls, they managed to accommodate that. Overall, despite needing to sometimes cover costs that I’d prefer were included within our monthly and service fees, I've felt the service was trustworthy enough to merit consideration.
Ultimately, if I had to recommend them, I'd give a nod by rating my experience on the higher side, understanding that while not everything is perfect, American Home Shield has managed our needs reasonably well thus far.

I faced an issue with a clogged toilet, where maintenance was necessary, and American Home Shield assigned SWAT Plumbing to handle the repair. The entire process of submitting the claim was quite straightforward, as I did it online and promptly received a notification indicating that SWAT would take care of the issue.
The service from SWAT Plumbing was excellent; they quickly and professionally addressed the problem. However, I've noticed that sometimes there can be delays in acquiring necessary parts for repairs. For instance, when I had issues with my washer and oven, it took almost three weeks for replacement parts to arrive. Communication regarding part availability between American Home Shield and the contractors could definitely be improved.
Despite these delays, I feel the coverage has been beneficial over the years. I initially had the protection, then opted out, but returned after realizing its value. It's been approximately two to three years since I reinstated my coverage. The primary improvement I'd suggest for American Home Shield would be to vet their contractors more thoroughly, possibly by considering customer reviews to ensure higher quality service providers.
In discussions with friends and family, like my brother-in-law who also uses American Home Shield, we generally agree that the service is pretty satisfactory and my overall sentiment is positive.

I bought a house, which made me decide to use American Home Shield, and I've been using their services for a year and a half. Overall, their customer service has been fairly good. I've had to deal with their robo voice system, which hasn't been the best experience, as the automated assistance left much to be desired. On the occasions when I required a technician to come out, they were consistently efficient and did a pretty good job. I have always submitted claims over the phone, interacting with what seemed to be mostly automated prompts, rather than a live representative, which was a bit of a letdown. However, the reliable in-person service somewhat makes up for it.

My air conditioner wasn't cooling properly and American Home Shield arranged for a company, Riprock Appliance Repair, to come out and assess the situation.
The contractor determined that the air conditioner needed a part replaced and said he would file this claim with American Home Shield. However, I faced quite a hurdle when he called back to inform me that the claim was denied, but he never provided any documentation for this decision despite my repeated requests.
Frustrated, I sought a second opinion. The new technician found that there wasn't any Freon in the unit, contradicting what the previous company had claimed they'd done. After paying for this out of pocket, the air conditioner was back in working order.
Given these interactions, I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to others. While their service was more affordable initially compared to my previous provider, the way they handled my claim left a lot to be desired. The coverage, specifically around the air conditioning clause, seemed designed to skirt liability, which was disappointing. If anyone asked me about my experience, I'd advise against using their services.

We reached out to American Home Shield for assistance when our water boiler broke down. Although J&K Plumbing, the contractor assigned to us, was thorough in explaining the issue, stating that the whole thing needed replacement, it took about two to three weeks to finally get a new boiler installed. The biggest draw for me with American Home Shield is the convenience of managing my issues online through their electronic communication system. However, calling customer service hasn't been as positive. It often feels like I'm speaking with someone too far removed from understanding my situation. When things aren't resolving smoothly, it's difficult to escalate and speak with someone locally in the US, which is frustrating.
If asked about American Home Shield, I would hesitate to recommend them. Neighbors who've previously had a long-term relationship with them recalled similar negative experiences. There have been a few times where I've had to call back because folks that they have sent, the companies they have sent, have been either unprofessional or didn't follow up. It also feels like the companies that come out don't like working with American Home Shield. And as soon as they realize that you're an American Home Shield customer, you don't get the attention that you would expect from the companies that American Home Shield contract with.

When I encountered some issues with my unit, I was pleased to discover that Justice Refrigeration collaborated efficiently with American Home Shield to address the problem. Even though the issue wasn't immediately apparent when the technician was present, they showed persistence in diagnosing and ordering the necessary parts.
My experience with their customer service has been quite positive; they’ve been responsive whenever I've reached out. I’ve been with AHS for at least a year, and I've been impressed with the overall service thus far. We moved to our new house in January 2025. The air conditioner broke down in early June and the famous Dallas heat started at the same time. When we contacted Home Insurance, we waited for someone to come for a diagnosis for about a week. When this person came, he walked around very angrily and reported it as a pre-existing condition with a subjective comment. When I said he wrote this report, I said, "We just moved into this house, an inspection was done, there was nothing like this, how can you describe it as an ongoing problem," he said, "You can talk to the insurance company about this," and handed me the iPad and said, "Sign it, I'll go." Signing this means approving, I said I'm not signing. I called American Home Shield. By the way, each call/call means about 40 minutes - 1 hour of waiting, and then the call means 1 hour.
Someone named Erica answered. It's Friday. I heard rooster and chicken sounds from behind (Clearly she is away from workplace and everybody seem working remotely, meaning nobody knows each and there is a huge gap between them). I explained the situation at length. I tried to express myself for about 40 minutes. After waiting a little, he said; "Send the inspection report you have." He gave me 2 email addresses and said that one of them was the contractor who came to us. I said that I did not want to work with the same person, I said I did not want to work with the same person whose ideas and behaviors are clear. She said, "Don't worry, we will look into it." I said, "How will I understand if you do not receive the email, you will get back to me whether you receive the email or not." She said okay.
I sent three consecutive e-mails so that there would be no delivery perpetrators. On Wednesday morning, we still had not received a confirmation, e-mail or review e-mail. When we called the center, someone else came up and the whole story was told to someone else from the beginning. They said it was being reviewed and they would get back to us today. No one called back. The next day, after telling the story again for hours with someone else, after long conversations and trying to explain the problem, it turned out that they did not have the inspection report. We sent it again and started waiting for a response again, and when we did not receive a response, when we called, after long explanations and stories, another person automatically told us the under review part.
When we tried to explain that walking around the house with a wet t-shirt in this heat was torture, they said they could give us a Windows AC unit as a concession, and they tried to connect the phone again to direct us to someone else, and when the phone did not answer after a long wait, they said, "They would call you." As they said, a completely different person called us and he didn't even know why he called. "I didn't call, you did, they must have directed you for this," so I had a conversation with him that lasted for minutes or hours. After a long struggle, he said that approval needs to be received from many places, and if it is received, I was finally able to learn that I will only be given $100.
What is even more interesting is that the person who spoke to me before about whether the inspection was reported under review for the AC unit or when it would be evaluated had given me the phone number of the Authorization Department. When I called, I told the woman the whole story from the beginning. This time, the woman said in a very rude way that, "You cannot call this Department, customers cannot call here." I told her that this number was given to me and she said that you will wait for the report result without reaching any conclusion.
As a result;It is not clear who does what.
Everyone is busy not with finding the customer's problem, but with stalling and pushing the customer away.
A huge, bulky and money-grabbing structure.
Even bulkier than a normal government office.
Everyone gives rude and negative answers as if I entered their house and was disturbing them for no reason.
Not only does no one try to solve the problem, they give answers that are irrelevant to what is being said, worse than a robot. The other person is having a nervous breakdown because what he is saying is not understood.
This company is an irresponsible, incompetent, clumsy and stupid organization that makes people have trouble with their own money.
If you are still entering their system despite this comment, either you are in a dirty trap like them, or you do not understand what is written like them.

I’m very disappointed with the way American Home Shield handled a recent issue following a water heater replacement. The original installation, done on 04/29/2025, was facilitated through them and initially seemed fine. However, less than two months later, the water lines connected to the heater started leaking due to corrosion, likely from poor materials or faulty installation.
I reported the issue via their virtual plumber service. The representative inspected the problem remotely, took photos, and directed us to contact customer service. After spending a considerable amount of time on hold, we were told that we needed to file a new service request — even though this was clearly a follow-up issue related to a very recent repair.
We requested to speak with a supervisor or someone in the escalation department. They told us the issue had been referred and that someone would get back to us "as soon as possible." It's been more than 48 hours and we've received no communication, follow-up, or resolution. The lack of urgency and accountability is extremely frustrating, especially after having paid both the service fee and significant out-of-pocket expenses for the original repair. I expected better responsiveness and support, especially when issues arise so soon after a covered repair.

I have had AHS since 2022. Their monthly pricing is not too bad and requesting service for your home is extremely easy. However, they are not very honest at all when it comes to actually needing something fixed or repair. Currently my air is not working, AHS provided me with a contractor very quickly. However my air can not be repaired and I was informed I must pay $2,100 to fix it. Okay fine. When I asked how much AHS was covering, one representative told me they were covering $800.00.
When I called a few days after to follow up on the status of something else I requested, I asked the same question because I know most times you will get a different answer and this is often I determine the knowledge and integrity of a business. This representative first told me AHS was covering $200.00.. Then when I asked her to repeat herself to ensure I heard properly. She then told me "we are not able to see how much AHS is covering, we are just covering $10.00 per pound". I couldn't believe my ears. How are you not able to provide a customer with the total amount their warranty is covering.... That is the whole purpose of having a warranty.
I also asked for my cash out options on Monday. I was told I would receive an email in 24-48 hours with this information. When I called after 48 hours because I did not receive the email. I was told again, "You will receive an email in 24 hours." Extremely disappointed, and the second I find the time to search for another home warranty I will.

AHS does pay $10/lb for refrigerant, and then the homeowner pays anything over that per pound, unless the customer has one of our plans that pays for all the refrigerant, like our ShieldPlatinum or ShieldComplete plans. AHS does not give out the pricing that we pay to our contractors or supplies since those are based on business contracts and are protected by law. All of our techs are licensed and insured, and contractor pricing is to benefit our customers with lower rates than retail.

I don't understand how they can say they have such good reviews. I have the gold package and I am cancelling my plan because they are pointless. The customer service team can never help you. The vendors they work with have to come out two or three times to do the job properly and actually fix anything. They are absolutely not worth your time or money.

• Say that required installation updates (like new gas lines, vents, and electrical) were “modifications” and not covered, even though they’re necessary for install.
• Offer a cash payout far below real replacement cost… just enough to install their own discounted system, not what a real HVAC contractor would charge.
Their business model is simple:- Approve minimal repairs with refurbished/discount parts.
- Deny anything beyond the absolute basics.
- Offer lowball cash payouts to get out of responsibility.
- Hide behind technicalities in contract language.
I regret not saving my money in an emergency repair fund instead of paying them $1200+ per year to be told “this isn’t covered.” If you’re considering AHS or any home warranty, know this:- They are not insurance.
- They will choose cost over quality every time.
- Your claim will feel like a fight, and you’ll still pay thousands.
Save your money. Find a reliable local HVAC tech, build an emergency fund, and protect your home on your terms. Feel free to share if you’ve had a similar experience.

Have had no bad issues with AHS for over 23 years until recently. Was going to cancel because of a dispute, but then talked with Jennifer ** (AHS Resolution Specialist) who instantly took control and resolved the dispute! AHS needs to commend employees like Jennifer because I'm pretty sure My Wife and I are not the only ones staying with AHS because of Her!

This review concerns an unresolved and escalating issue with American Home Shield (AHS). Despite numerous calls, service requests, and escalation attempts, I have yet to receive a meaningful response or corrective action. Background: In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Air Design Air Conditioning and Heating was contracted by AHS to replace the air handler in my home.
In January 2025, my heating system failed. I submitted a service request through AHS, and United Air Temp was dispatched. Their technician quickly identified the improperly sized air handler and reported associated code violations. He also noted that the unit installed did not match the specifications listed in AHS’s service records.
As a homeowner—and not an HVAC expert—I was unaware of this discrepancy. I only noticed that the condenser unit ran more frequently than usual, along with a noticeable increase in my power bill. I had no reason to suspect that an improperly sized air handler was the root cause. The original system featured a 4-ton air handler paired with a 4-ton condenser—an appropriate and industry-standard configuration. While AHS did order the correct replacement, Air Design installed a smaller, 3.5-ton air handler manufactured in 2017 without notifying me of the substitution.
The request was then reassigned back to Air Design, who installed the air handler to service the condenser but did not address or acknowledge the undersized air handler. Once I became aware of the installation error, I began escalating the issue through AHS. Despite being informed of the problem, Air Design has done nothing to correct it, and AHS has failed to provide a meaningful resolution. The email below was from AHS as to why they would take no action against Air Design despite being told otherwise.
"After further review with our field manager, the technician advised that the unit was installed five years ago during COVID when units were in short supply. The technician stated that a 3.5-4-ton air handler was installed at that time to expedite claims. They also mentioned that the customer had not experienced issues until recently, which they attributed to a failed compressor and fan motor, not the air handler size. These parts have been replaced, and the system is now functioning as it should."
Performing my own research, I followed up with the original company that installed both the air handler and condenser unit during construction "Trane" and the company "Lennox" of the 3.5 ton air handler installed by AHS and both confirmed the air handler is of improper size and that the issues could be imminent or some years down the road as is in my case. In March 2025, following a second condenser failure (within the warranty period from January's repair), Air Design returned again to service the unit. Yet again, the root cause—the mismatched air handler—was ignored.
Currently, in June 2025, the HVAC system failed for a third time in 6 months. A contractor from United Air Temp was assigned, but after evaluating the system, the technician refused to service it due to the incompatibility between the air handler and condenser already reported. He reported the issue to AHS once again and requested the service request be reassigned. AHS reassigned the service request to Summer Breeze Heating and Air and after waiting another 5 days for service, the technician stated the root cause is an undersized air handler. As of now, I’ve been without air conditioning for over 11 days, and no progress has been made toward an actual solution.
After finally speaking with an AHS escalation supervisor, I was told that Air Design "stands by their installation" and that AHS continues to support them—despite professional assessments from two independent contractors and company representative of Trane and Lennox all clearly stating that the undersized air handler is causing recurring failures.
This experience has made it painfully clear that AHS prioritizes cost-cutting over quality service and long-term customer satisfaction. Their refusal to correct a documented installation error—despite multiple confirmations and ongoing system failures—raises serious concerns about their business practices and reliability. Additionally, I urge potential customers to carefully read the fine print in AHS's service contract. They are under no obligation to replace covered appliances with identical brand, model, or specifications. This can lead to long-term performance issues, as I've experienced. I hope my experience helps others make a more informed decision before choosing AHS for home warranty services.

I liked the salesperson's engaging approach and the extensive coverage that American Home Shield offered. We've had their service protecting us for some time now, and although we’ve only had to make one claim so far, the experience was quite satisfactory.
We had issues with an electrical outlet in the kitchen. My husband handled most of it, but from what I gathered, there wasn’t any power coming from it. Silver Strand Electric came out to address the problem. Our home was built in 1988, and unbeknownst to us, the kitchen outlet was oddly connected to a non-functional outlet in the living room. Remarkably, once the issue in the kitchen was resolved, the living room outlet started working as well! We were thrilled with the results.
The claims process seemed straightforward as we just had to make a call, although I wasn't directly involved in this part. The service continues to work smoothly, and the technician’s expertise in pinpointing and fixing the interconnected issues exceeded our expectations.
On areas for improvement, I do think American Home Shield should notify us about any changes or increases in rates. My husband noticed a higher charge on our account without any prior notice. But despite this, I find the coverage very affordable and extensive—the service covers a range of issues that homeowners commonly face.
Would I recommend American Home Shield to a friend or family member? Absolutely. For the breadth of coverage provided at a reasonable monthly rate, it’s definitely worth it. Customer service, coverage, and pricing have all been commendable. Overall, I’m happy with the exceptional service from American Home Shield.

If you have this company for your home warranty, find a new one, I should have learned my lesson from the first time I used it, the first one cost me over $2500 in out of pocket expenses because the contractor they sent me said I needed updates that I didn't need for my air conditioner, trusted that the contractors they use are reliable, Most recently my refrigerator went out, the tech did come out the same day, said that they needed to get approval which took a couple days and than had to want on the parts, the part was installed and in less than 2 days the refrigerator went out again and I lost all the food we had replaced.
I contacted both the warranty department and the company, the company said that they could not come out for 7 days, at this point the refrigerator has already been out for 2 weeks and now another week, we have grandkids staying with us and when I explained this to both AHS and the company, they didn't care, no one would assist me to get a tech out sooner, I asked to have this escalated and was told someone would be in touch within 24/48 hours, while it cost me daily to get ice to keep some things cold, gas to run to the grocery store everyday to get food to be cooked that night, When I ask if they will reimbursement for my losses they just say you have to talk to a supervisor to escalate.

I filed a $6,000 small claims lawsuit against AHS after they denied coverage on my central AC system, even though I have their highest-tier ShieldComplete plan, which clearly includes 100% refrigerant coverage. The first contractor they sent recommended replacement, but AHS falsely claimed the report said the system was fine. After a BBB complaint, they sent a second contractor who diagnosed multiple failures, including the evaporator coil and depleted refrigerant — and also recommended replacement.
AHS responded by telling me I'd owe $1,500 for exhaust modifications, which turned out to be just five screws. I paid for the full replacement myself ($15,000) and requested a cash-out due to bad faith. They offered $500 to settle and falsely claimed I was responsible for refrigerant, even though my plan covers it 100%. I have a voice memo from their own contractor, and documentation of the misrepresentations. AHS misrepresented my coverage, shifted stories, and delayed resolution until I took legal action. I no longer trust them and strongly urge others to be cautious.

Updated on 06/23/2025: AHS, how does it claim to cover an evaporator coil, will pay for refrigerant, and now you offer ONLY a $395 cash payment? Interesting AHS ONLY responded after Consumer Affairs and BBB were contacted. If AHS is covering the evap coil, the average cost for 2.5 ton unit is $1450-1920. How is AHS offering a $395 cash payment? Moreover, Island Breeze indicates AHS will cover the evaporator coil, (See attached). However all the refrigerant would be the homeowner's expense. Hmm the contract says "AHS will cover refrigerant," per our Shield Plus plan. Again, we have an insurance plan with AHS and it is not fulfilling its obligation. Also interesting, this information cannot be sent directly to AHS. It gives either accept payment or send out the company for repair. I hate to air dirty laundry to others. Buyers Beware!! There is more to share.
Original Review: We have been with AHS for 8 years and only claim has been a washing machine. Our plan says AHS will replace the evaporator coil in our HVAC unit. However, the HVAC repair company sent us an estimate that we we must place the evaporator coil. This is 2 weeks without air and AHS has yet to send us an itemized bill of what it will pay. As promised, AHS has not sent the cash opt for us to find a different company to repair the unit. I have talked with 4 AHS reps and each has failed to FU. Meanwhile, 100 degree temperatures this week and 2 senior citizens in the home. AHS takes your money as our coverage has increased from $69 to $135 / month in 28 months. AHS is not making me happy only hotter.

American Home Shield sent out Ace Appliance, and they had to make three visits. The first was the initial visit, and they found that a displayable was needed to be replaced and ordered. So they had to come back for that. When they brought that back, they got the new one in, but it didn't work properly with the main board in the washing machine until they had to come back a third time. But the repairman was very conscientious and polite and industrious. The only quibble I have with the experience is that it took a while to get someone to work on it. They may not have enough staff to demand. But other than that, it was a wonderful experience. The washing machine is fully resolved and working. Overall, American Home Shield was prompt. They responded initially within a business day. But their rate is a little pricey.

American Home Shield assigned DGM Contracting to do some electrical work for me. The process went smoothly, and they arrived within a week, which was impressive. They came to replace my doorbell and fire alarms. The technician was efficient, pleasant, and left no mess behind.
I've been with American Home Shield for about 3 to 4 years now, and another claim is currently underway for a plumbing issue. There seems to be a leak whenever the toilet is flushed, so a technician is scheduled to come out tomorrow.
Overall, I would rate my experience very positively. If I had to rate them, they would easily score a solid 5. I appreciate the consistent service and professionalism.

This is one of those times that zero stars should be an option. I started up a plan with American Home Shield about 9 months ago. I actually got a better deal with another company that covered things American would not. I called to cancel and was told I was not allowed to cancel, that they were the best out there and I needed to try them when a ticket needed to be submitted. 2 months later my pump goes out. American comes out... "Sorry we can't help you. That is not covered." Other company, "Yes no problem." Got me up and running again.
Try to cancel again this time I get the runaround. Transfers with no real agent to discuss or cancel my policy. I remove money from that account to stop them from pulling for many months. Then this month I slipped and they got me again. (This is all on my bank site but my credit line with them so not available for a stop payment). I call again, this time the runaround around has me shaking and crying. I am begging for a supervisor, I am told I am not allowed one until finally I snapped. She then acted like she was transferring me but ten minutes later she comes back to the line and informs me that all supervisors are unavailable at the time and that I could have one call me back.... I'm sure you know how that ended. I reported to my card and will be receiving a new card they will not be able to pull from. To say the least if you value your home, your money, and your sanity, stay away from this company.

The coil on my air conditioner was damaged and it was leaking refrigerant outside, so I needed a replacement. Submitting the claim through American Home Shield was straightforward, and I did eventually receive a new air conditioner.
I've been a customer for a couple of years, ever since buying my house, and it came recommended at that time. One thing I appreciate about the service is that they cover a wide range of things. However, I think their lack of transparency regarding what’s not covered could be improved.

Scheduling the service with J&M Plumbing proved frustrating due to delays, though the technician who eventually arrived was courteous and seemed knowledgeable. Nevertheless, the service outcome was disappointing.
American Home Shield was initially expected to cover the repair of the aerator pump in our septic system. A shock came when they later refused, citing non-coverage, even though we'd been assured they would handle it. This inconsistency was compounded by the fact that, just days earlier, a similar case was covered for someone else. This inconsistency resulted in us paying out of pocket to replace the aerator pump, on top of the $100 service fee to American Home Shield.
To make matters worse, when my husband requested a service fee reimbursement, considering they only facilitated the call, they outright refused. I feel like we paid $100 for a call we could have easily made ourselves, especially when our problem was identified from the start. This adds to my growing dissatisfaction with American Home Shield, as each interaction seems to end with less being covered for more out-of-pocket expenses.
I noticed a pattern, as even when issues are eventually covered, it takes an unfathomable amount of time to organize a technician. Their network seems limited, at least in our area. Transparency from American Home Shield upfront about what was covered would have saved us unnecessary stress and expense. Overall, I would rate my recent experience as a 2 out of 5. While J&M excelled in their portion of the work, American Home Shield's business ethics left much to be desired.

When I had a clogged toilet, the plumber sent by American Home Shield cleared it using a plunger device, but mentioned that due to having low water toilets, I might run into this issue again. Two months later, the same problem occurred, and despite the conversation suggesting changes, American Home Shield did not replace the toilet. Fortunately, the clog hasn’t been an issue since then.
I've also used the service for my air conditioning, and the technician has always been proficient, although service delays can occur because vendors are not always local. In more remote areas like mine, it’s convenient to have American Home Shield as they take on the responsibility of providing a repair person. However, it can take around 24 hours for the technician to contact you and about 4-5 days to get an appointment.
One benefit of being with them is the peace of mind, especially when I’m not handy with repairs myself. My main suggestion for improvement would be to engage with more vendors to speed up service delivery. From my perspective, American Home Shield earns about a 4 out of 5 overall. While customer service can be challenging due to language barriers, I've found the staff helpful once connected.

In minor cases where American Home Shield hasn't covered everything, professional companies assessed the situation thoroughly.
If I had to rate American Home Shield, I’d give it between 4 and 5 stars. My ice maker stopped producing ice entirely, leaving me in a bind. The repair process was frankly dreadful. It dragged on for over a month, nearing two months. The main culprit was a severe lack of communication between the warranty company and the vendor. Each party seemed utterly unaware of the other's actions, which was exasperating.
To get any progress, I had to constantly advocate for myself, call repeatedly, and maintain persistence. An added frustration was dealing with American Home Shield’s outsourced call centers, which lacked awareness of local considerations like holidays and time zones. Conversations were futile, often turning into repetitive attempts of already failed solutions due to timing constraints or logistical issues, leaving me feeling unheard and unsupported.
One suggestion I have is providing customer service representatives with unique contact pathways to vendors, rather than using the same numbers customers already have access to. This would potentially circumvent wasted time and repeated holds. It felt like the existing system asked more of the customer’s time without actual help.
Adding to the chaos, an experience with Sears exemplified poor client handling. Scheduled appointments were inadequately notified and handled, leading to missed days of work waiting at home without an appearance or explanation. Ultimately, we did receive refunds for service fees after much back-and-forth, but the emotional toll and wasted time weren’t recouped.
If rating the experience with American Home Shield, I’d give a 3 out of 5 stars, at best, because they made partial amends. Regardless, the entire ordeal was frustrating and highlights serious room for improvement in holistic communication and customer support.

I encountered an issue with my garage door that wouldn't open. Submitting the claim was straightforward as I did this by phone. Initially, the contractor sent was not very effective, requiring multiple trips without properly fixing the problem. However, the second contractor they sent was excellent, identifying that a wire was loose because it wasn't taped up correctly.
Since then, everything has been working perfectly. My overall experience would definitely lead me to recommend American Home Shield, as when they get it right, the service is commendable. However, I've had mixed experiences as not all their subcontractors meet the same standard. For example, a previous air conditioning issue was poorly resolved by another subcontractor, which I ended up fixing myself after discovering the vents were not properly connected, causing unnecessary heating and cooling in the attic.
In summary, while American Home Shield can provide great service with some excellent professionals, there are occasions when their contractors may fall short, requiring additional follow-up to ensure everything is functioning as it should.

I had an issue with a water leak and submitted a claim by calling American Home Shield. The process was quite easy, and I was informed via a text message about the name of the plumbing company, Arid Valley Plumbing LLC, which would handle the repairs.
When the contractor arrived, he initially couldn’t identify the problem. However, shortly after he left, the situation worsened, and fortunately, he was nearby and returned promptly to address the issue. So, I was satisfied with the response time and resolution of the contractor.
However, my satisfaction turned into frustration due to a different matter, which overshadowed my experience. I unknowingly double-paid my annual warranty fee. My late husband had managed our payments, and when I received a mail regarding the renewal, I sent a check, unaware that an automatic deduction had also been made from our credit card. When I realized the mistake and tried to rectify it, I went through numerous calls with both American Home Shield and my bank. Despite assurances, they delayed processing my reimbursement, leaving me double-paid and increasingly unhappy about their customer service approach.
Overall, while the coverage for repairs was solid—I’d rate it a 5 in that aspect—the customer service left a lot to be desired. Handling the billing issue has been frustrating, and even with multiple calls and assurances, it remains unresolved. Because of this, my overall rating for their service, particularly due to customer support inefficiencies, is quite poor. As of now, I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to others simply due to the hassles I've faced in addressing the billing discrepancy.

My dryer was not heating and American Home Shield sent ADA Repair to address it. The technician seemed new to the job, taking a considerable amount of time to figure out the problem initially, which turned out to be a faulty wire. It took three separate visits for them to fully fix the issue, requiring me to take time off work each time. The whole process stretched on for a month, during which I had to use a laundromat. This was frustrating considering the unnecessary expenditure and time.
Despite this experience, when I reached out to American Home Shield's customer service to express my dissatisfaction, the representative was very understanding and kind. He apologized for the inconvenience and even refunded my service fee. His professionalism and willingness to make things right made a significant impact on my decision to stay with the service, even though I was initially ready to cancel my contract.
While the experience was less than ideal, especially with having the appliance repaired over such a drawn-out period, the final interaction was positive enough for me to consider my overall experience with American Home Shield as more favorable.

The AC unit stopped blowing hot air and everything just shut down. I contacted American Home Shield and they sent over a technician from Integrity Heating and Air.
The technician who came out was knowledgeable and informative. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was courteous throughout the process. Although the repair required some parts that were not on hand and took about three weeks to arrive, the communication was excellent. The receptionist called weekly to keep me informed of the status and expected arrival time of the parts, which I appreciated.
Once the parts arrived and the technician returned, the repair was completed, and I’m pleased to report that my AC is working great now. Throughout my time with American Home Shield, they have consistently met their commitments to fix any issue I've encountered. As a longtime customer, I've always received prompt, reliable service, especially in urgent situations like needing AC repairs.
All in all, I'm quite satisfied with their service and would recommend them to others.

My interactions with American Home Shield’s customer service have been varied throughout the 20 tom 30 years I’ve been with them. Initially, I would have recommended them, especially if you're new to the service with new equipment. Their support in those cases was commendable.
They typically handled my annual calls addressing problems like air conditioning issues, and the technicians they dispatched were generally skilled and professional. However, as equipment aged, particularly my old air conditioner, I found their tendency to repeatedly patch rather than replace less satisfactory. The air conditioner, over 30 years old, has frequently needed attention. Some of the technicians have even suggested it's due for a complete replacement.
Despite frustrating prolonged wait times and inconsistency in service levels, when it comes to new or newly maintained equipment, I think American Home Shield could be worth recommending. However, as equipment ages, the persistent band-aid approach can become inefficient and inconvenient. Overall, their extensive initial value diminishes over time with older systems, reducing my inclination to recommend them after numerous years of use.

I wish I could give zero stars. I’ve paid on this plan for months and this week was the first time I needed to contact AHS because I have a water leak. They told me they would be sending a local plumber to my house and he would be in contact with me. When I didn’t hear anything, I tried calling the plumber and never got an answer. I got on the website for the plumber and saw that he had review after review complaining about not showing up, scheduling appointments and missing them, not answering his phone, doing poor work. One customer said his furnace went out in the middle of winter. My plumber was who AHS was sending to fix his furnace. At the time of his review, he was 2 weeks without heat and still waiting for someone to come fix his furnace.
I called to see if they could send somebody different to fix my plumbing and they said that was the only person that they use. Unfortunately, he does their plumbing, HVAC, electric, everything. I canceled my policy to find another company that uses more than one person for repairs. I had just paid my monthly premium two days ago and ask them about a refund. Unfortunately, they kept my entire monthly payment for “service fees.” I am single mother who is now going to crawl under the house to fix the leak myself.

Updated on 6/27/2025: We notified AHS that our AC was not not working on 6-16-25 morning. The contractor came on 6-18-25 morning & said it was the compressor and that he had the part needed & could repair that day, but AHS would ship it to him instead. I was just told by AHS that it will arrive to the contractor on July 2nd, one day before a federal holiday. Also we will need to pay out $1200 for the refrigerant. We started our contract 17 years ago at $56 per month. As of 6-15-25 it is at $110.24 per month & now they will make us wait 3 weeks to repair our AC in 100 plus degree weather.
Updated on 06/21/2025: In response to my previous post on 6-20-25, Ken with American Home Shield stated 'he would reach out to us'. Ken did not. We are still waiting for service to come out (since early morning 6-16-25) & replace the compressor and we are to pay the additional $1,080 for refrigerant (not covered in Gold Shield Plan). Our little house is 1500sf. The service company said they had the parts here in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday 6-16-25 at 10:00am. The repairman said that instead of fixing it right then & there as he could have, AHS will ship it once approved which can take days...weeks???
It is in the 100's here. We have faithfully paid on time monthly for over 17 years to AHS. We are suffering so AHS can save a few pennies. Our summer plans are ruined & we are beyond disappointed and frankly this is affecting our health in a substantially negative way. AHS is in NO hurry to fulfill their duty as per their contract with us, or their national advertising campaigns.
Original Review: Usually it take a day or 2 for repairs. We have been with AHS for 17 years. The contract payments have gone up from $70 per month to $110.24 per month. All payments made via automatic. Our AC has been out 6 days now, we're in San Antonio, Texas. It is HOT!! It is the compressor & will take many more days because AHS will ship it to San Antonio from Tennessee...& we have to pay $1100 for the coolant. We have the GoldShield. Of course the contractor has the compressor & it could have been fixed 3 days ago, but AHS will save a $ by shipping it...?? We are miserable & our pets too. Our plans with family coming to visit are ruined. Being a client for 17 years gets you the run around & misery.

The house already had a policy with American Home Shield in place and we decided to keep it. Initially, submitting a claim online was quite easy, and navigating through their website was straightforward. However, my experience wasn't very smooth afterward. I ran into issues when one repair technician said that a fix was too costly, and American Home Shield didn’t like that answer. They sent another person who also reached the same conclusion. It was a frustrating process that ended with them finally deciding to replace the machine instead of repairing it.
The entire claim process took about a week, but interacting with their customer service was disappointing. Despite calling and being very adamant about wanting to speak with a supervisor, I wasn’t successful. I was put on hold multiple times and no supervisor ever became available, even though they promised a callback within two days. By the time they attempted to reach me, my frustration had taken over, and I chose not to answer. It felt like their customer service was restricted in how much they could assist, keeping strictly within the company’s set guidelines, with little room for exceptions.
If I were to advise someone, I’d suggest looking for a different company. Even after being with American Home Shield for over five years, the trust in their service is lacking, especially when considering potential future repairs.

I had an issue with both my dryer and refrigerator, and when the first technician came, he didn't even inspect the dryer properly and assured it was fine. His remedy for the refrigerator lasted only a couple of days before it stopped cooling again. It took a senior technician to finally resolve the issue after several visits and part replacements.
I've recommended American Home Shield to friends and family because it's generally very convenient. Over the years, they've fixed many appliances for me including my oven and dishwasher. The service fee increases were a bit disappointing, as I remember paying a $75 fee, which has now increased. Regardless, it's usually cheaper compared to typical repair costs.
There have been instances where claims were denied, like when I needed a new hot water heater and some AC work. A technician claimed there had been previous tampering, which wasn’t true since my contractor-built house had no upgrades. They also denied ductwork that their plan supposedly covered, which was frustrating as one of my rooms remains warm due to this.

American Home Shield sent out a technician when I did a tune-up, who indicated that there was a pressure imbalance in the system. Following this, I contacted them for a repair visit. The new technician suggested that Freon was missing, but since then, I've received no further information or communication from AHS—I honestly don't even know if they've looked into it further.
In terms of the service for a previous unit, I needed a second opinion because the initial technician misdiagnosed the problem, claiming a part was missing. Thankfully, American Home Shield did allow another technician from a different company to have a look, which resulted in a proper repair. So while it's good that they eventually sorted it out, these inconsistent experiences where technicians seem unsure of the issues have been a recurring theme for me.
The quality of the technicians American Home Shield sends out varies greatly. For some claims, like the initial one upon starting with AHS, they managed to fix an issue another company wanted to completely replace—which was positive—but more often than not, the technicians appear to lack proficiency. I'd rate American Home Shield a 3 or a 4 out of 5.

Despite my long-term relationship with American Home Shield, spanning over 13 years as a homeowner, I encountered several issues. My major concern arose with a service request involving TN Appliance Exchange. I had a problem with my dryer, which was operational but not spinning. I went through the process of paying $125 for the service request only to be advised that the vent needed cleaning. Following this, I paid an additional $60 to have the vent cleaned by someone I know. Despite my efforts, the service request never followed through, and calls to American Home Shield revealed further hurdles, resulting in my eventual decision to invest in a brand-new dryer, costing me over $600.

Our air conditioning unit, which had been working fine, suddenly started blowing warm air. When I called American Home Shield's 1-800 number to file a claim, it was an easy process, but the outcome was far from satisfactory. Budget AC and Plumbing came out to assess the situation. I wasn't there, but my husband handled the visit. To our surprise, we were told that the claim would be denied due to missing caps on the refrigerant lines, something we weren't even aware of since buying the house. They offered no solution to fix the cover or estimate for further repairs, leaving us high and dry.
The technician then attempted to charge an exorbitant fee of $600 just to add refrigerant, without even offering to install the missing caps. When I reached out to American Home Shield, they stood firm on not covering the issue, citing it could have been prevented. Their willingness to bypass genuine claims with such technicalities leaves me questioning why I've been paying for this service. In the early days, American Home Shield was truly excellent—responsive and effective. But as time went on, I found myself mired in battles over claims, especially with major appliance breakdowns. I've had multiple issues where it felt like American Home Shield didn’t want to replace appliances as promised. There were multiple disputes over a water heater and a dishwasher across my two properties. Although I expected some increase in fees over nearly two decades, the continuous rise in out-of-pocket expenses and monthly payments have become less justifiable, especially when they systematically made it difficult to speak with someone empowered to make decisions.
Their delays and disagreements in replacing a broken washing machine highlighted how they've changed. Previously, they were more accommodating. Now, they seem less willing to commit to the service promised or efficiently address issues like poor or incorrect installations.
There were times when American Home Shield fulfilled their promises, replacing heating systems effectively, which is why it’s frustrating to see such inconsistency. I went with American Home Shield because my dad had a great experience, which inspired me to trust their home warranty plans. But when I had problems with my appliances, things didn't go as smoothly.
For instance, I reported issues with a refrigerator shelf and a dishwasher nozzle, and American Home Shield claimed that the damages were due to my misuse and excessive weight, which seemed absurd to me. It was puzzling how they reached these conclusions without any proof. The whole ordeal led me to cancel my service as I felt like I was paying for nothing. Also, my electric stove countertop broke, and they said it wasn't covered.
Despite opting for a second opinion through another company that AHS arranged, issues kept recurrently popping up. There was only one company willing to come out, but they don’t communicate with warranty companies like AHS, leaving me stuck without cooling despite paying for a warranty that has proven completely useless. Every time I call, new representative. They have no idea of my situation until I repeat myself over and over. Then they say they see it. Will not let me get a contractor that will complete my AC installation correctly. Keep saying give contractor a chance. They’ve had 6 chances to fix it. They do not care. The claim for my refrigerator under the American Home Shield warranty turned into quite the rough ride. It all began with a problem that needed a call to Sears. After three visits, I was nowhere closer to a solution. The first technician simply listened for the noise the fridge was making, stood around, and then declared there was nothing he could do. The second seemed more promising – he figured it was the compressor, ordered necessary parts, but then left me hanging. When these parts arrived, the fridge's condition only worsened with temperatures rising, reaching a concerning 60 degrees. Despite these conditions, the company had me wait four days for yet another appointment.
Now, the third technician's visit felt like the worst. He claimed the refrigerator didn't need the parts provided and was ready to leave despite diagnosing further issues. After much persuasion, he brought up issues with the freezer's relay but couldn't fix anything. His visit highlighted an alarming lack of professionalism and care.
Resorting to contacting Sears, I filed a complaint and breathed a sigh of hope when American Home Shield said they'd send a different technician. But then, their condition was for me to return the compressor parts before further actions could be taken, a course I hesitated due to the refrigerator’s persistent issues. I went with American Home Shield in 2022 for their home warranty services, and my experience has been satisfying. Recently, an AC company they operate with came out to address my air conditioning. I submitted my claim online, tried to expedite the appointment, and called their support. Unfortunately, the date couldn't be moved up, but it worked out since the weather cooled down unexpectedly. Once the technician arrived, I was pleased with the prompt service and how quickly the issue was resolved.
Having AHS is worth the cost. For example, for an AC service where they replaced my thermostat and air filter, the service call cost $125, but there weren't any extra charges for the installation, which is quite a relief.
Overall, I'm content with American Home Shield and would suggest giving their services a try if you're considering a home warranty.

It wasn’t until I faced an unfortunate experience with American Home Shield and Accord Appliance that I realized how frustrating service can be. Initially, my refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling, accompanied by a leaking water filter. When Accord sent a technician, he was using ChatGPT to fix the fridge and admitted uncertainty about his ability to fix it. Filling the fridge with coolant offered a temporary solution, but the key issues persisted.
A few days later, their return, supposedly for a check-up, simply involved a declaration that everything was fixed—except it wasn't. After reinstalling the water filter, they claimed it was resolved, only for the appliance to lose cooling function the following day. This led to a stressful scenario where interactions with the company's representative were less than professional: repeated hang-ups and extensive delay meant waiting up to three weeks for assistance tied to a part that didn't relate directly to the cooling issues.
To add to the frustration, American Home Shield refused to reassign a service provider or expedite fixing until the part, which pertained only to the filter, arrived. Ultimately, I had to buy a new refrigerator without any replacement help from them. Overall, although American Home Shield's online service for setting requests is intuitive and efficient, this minor positive can't offset the significant negatives I encountered with them. If possible, my rating for American Home Shield would be zero stars.

American Home Shield is my go-to for coverage since 2016. Over the years, I've noticed that their customer service has improved significantly, although it initially required a lot of effort to navigate through. Despite some challenges, the outcomes generally aligned with what I needed.
Recently, I had a claim for my pool heater. I decided to call in because I wanted to avoid a vendor they'd sent before who wasn't licensed to handle pool issues. In 2016 and again more recently, they tried putting me in touch with this individual who, despite being from an HVAC company, wasn't ideal for pool-related problems. After contacting an executive customer service representative, I was allowed to choose a more suitable out-of-network provider. Everything needed for the pool heater was covered in the end.
Overall, I'd give American Home Shield a 4-star rating out of 5. Their service has its ups and downs, but their recent improvements show promise.

Having been with American Home Shield for almost 18 months now, I've had a generally smooth experience with their service, though not without a few bumps. For instance, I've faced recurring issues with my refrigerator. The compressor has gone out three times since I've owned it, costing around $900 each time, which was quite a hassle since it resulted in spoiled food. After yet another incident, I inquired if I could replace the fridge instead of continuously waiting for parts and repairs.

Allure Appliance, the service company sent by American Home Shield, repaired what they identified as a fan motor issue on my refrigerator. Unfortunately, this led to the contents of my refrigerator turning into a frozen state. Contacting them back, a subsequent technician discovered that it involved freezing coils and not the fan motor alone. He also said that they've got to send a CT tech out to come and test and see if it needs the Freon. So, that tech came out last week and he told me that it's not a Freon issue, it's a problem with the controller. The tech also had to get a part for my water dispenser. So right now, I'm waiting on an update for when this part will arrive, so they can come out for the fourth and hopefully final time.
I've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years and usually handle claims online, which I find convenient. However, I'd rate this recent encounter with Allure Appliance as a 3 out of 5, because when they were going to come out the first time, apparently, they told me one thing one day. And when the day came, they said, they wrote down a different date. So I wasn't too happy with that. On the plus side, I’ve consistently had good experiences with American Home Shield's customer service and their online request system. I also find their pricing fair despite recent deductible increases. Overall, my loyalty stays with them, often recommending their service to friends when the topic arises.

I've been a client for about 18 years and over these years, my husband and I evaluate our usage annually to decide if it’s worth retaining. One of the major draws for us has been the reasonable copay when major issues surface; it alleviates the burden of unexpected repair costs. Recently, I had an experience where both my washer and dryer needed repair. The washer wasn't operating correctly; it wouldn't advance through cycles and required multiple spins to remove all the water. The claim submission process was straightforward enough—I made a call as the online option didn’t accommodate multiple simultaneous claims, like for both the washer and dryer. Upon submitting it, an LT Appliance contractor came out for the repairs. Initially, there was some trouble–the dryer door didn’t shut correctly. Once highlighted, they returned with parts and improved the situation somewhat.
In the end, the washer was completely replaced, which I'm thoroughly satisfied with. However, the dryer still doesn’t perform optimally and may require further attention since the door remains hard to shut. I'd rate my overall experience with American Home Shield as 4 out of 5, primarily due to increasing costs. Initially, it was $60 a month, and now it has jumped to $149.

In the past 8 months, I've had mixed experiences with American Home Shield. My dishwasher was finicky – they replaced the heating element, but it sometimes wouldn't dry, leading to ongoing frustrations. The refrigerator issues are more concerning: their thermal gun read differently from ours, and our own check with a refrigerator thermometer indicates it's running too warm. It also emitted an unpleasant odor, which I suspect is Freon leakage, a problem I've faced before.
On a positive note, American Home Shield's proactive free HVAC check was beneficial, identifying a bad capacitor that was replaced. When Aire Serv of Clearwater showed up for the repair, I received only their company's name beforehand, but the experience was absolutely positive. The team provided excellent service, communicated effectively, and even suggested additional steps to prevent future issues. They quickly got the system up and running, much to my relief.
Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with American Home Shield. The whole process was smooth; from setting up the appointment to the contractors arriving on time, everything went off without a hitch. If I were to rate my experience, especially with their customer service and coverage, I'd give them top marks. Though I'm less familiar with their pricing structure and online tools, I'd still confidently recommend them to friends and family for their efficiency and reliability.

When T Mayes Plumbing arrived, they were efficient and professional. The technician took immediate action to resolve the issue. He was courteous and even went the extra mile to explain the problem thoroughly, which turned out to be a flap stuck in the toilet bowl, and he also replaced the handle. I appreciated his professionalism and the way he respected my home by covering his shoes before entering. This positive experience would certainly make me recommend their plumbing services.
However, my experience with American Home Shield is a bit more nuanced. While I've been with them for years and have appreciated their prompt service, I was frustrated by certain limitations I experienced with policy coverage. Despite having outdated heating and air systems that significantly increase my utility bills, replacement options seemed inaccessible due to stipulations in the policy. Even when contractors confirmed the necessity for replacements, the systems' basic functionality seemed to disqualify them for coverage.
I perceive investing money into my policy and paying increased fees, yet consumer support falters when genuinely costly replacements arise. While I understand service prices have escalated, making routine service calls could potentially offset my significant utility expenses. When asked to rate the cost issue, I believe it's pricey, but without their service, hiring independent professionals would likely push costs even higher. As a realtor, I often tell my buyers to request a home warranty, and my seller offered American Home Shield to me as well. Initially, I had no qualms about trying their service, thinking it would simplify my life. However, my experience with them, particularly with Blue Sky Heating & Air LLC, was far from satisfactory. When I noticed my air conditioning wasn't functioning correctly, I submitted a claim online, which was an easy process. However, everything that followed was frustrating. It took the contractors a month just to get a part, and even when they claimed they had it, they were unable to locate it. The situation dragged on, and eventually, it turned out they even reversed the second valve during their attempted fix, leading to water dripping out of my ceiling.
The contractors missed appointments, claiming that the scheduled time was just an unconfirmed suggestion, which left me wasting time on numerous occasions. My dissatisfaction was amplified by the fact that the warranty failed to cover much of anything, leaving me to pay $2,000 out of pocket. For a service that's supposed to offer peace of mind, this was incredibly disappointing. I feel compelled to advise against recommending this warranty to others, as it seems to lack real value and coverage. It's unfortunate that my experience was marred with inefficiency and lack of coverage, making the service appear nearly useless.

Upon encountering problems with my HVAC, specifically water leaking near the entrance of my home, AHS dispatched US Air Conditioning of Texas to address the situation. The technician identified a potential issue with the drain pipe in the attic, but was unable to proceed without company authorization. The communication with AHS was frustrating and ineffective. I spoke to a representative whose communication I couldn't comprehend, and later I was informed that AHS would not cover the expenses necessary to further investigate the issue. Despite multiple attempts to get clarity, including speaking to the technician's company, the situation remained unresolved.
Seeking an alternative solution, I consulted local HVAC contractors who revealed that the existing system was poorly installed. Their evaluations consistently suggested replacing the HVAC system, emphasizing that preserving the vintage model from around 2005-2006 with R22 refrigerant was neither cost-effective nor practical due to its obsolescence. Ultimately, this led me to replace the entire system out-of-pocket, without any resolution or assistance from AHS. Reflecting on my overall experience with American Home Shield, I found it lacking, particularly due to poor communication and unfulfilled service promises. Despite being a paying customer, I wouldn't recommend their services based on this incident, with previous experiences at a different location being starkly different in terms of satisfaction.

Our AC wasn't cooling, but I had to go out of my pocket and get somebody else because American Home Shield does not cover mice in it. While American Home Shield itself is reliable, it might be their partner companies that occasionally cause lapses. I appreciate the direct phone communication I have with their representatives, even though their pricing isn't always satisfactory for me—I'd rate it a 2 if given a forceful measure to do so.

AHS's service recently covered my dishwasher and washing machine. Since these services, I've encountered no further problems with these appliances, which is a testament to the quality of their work.
I typically reach out to American Home Shield by phone and the customer service has always been excellent. I've also tried setting up service requests online, finding the process simple and quick, deserving a top rating in terms of ease of use and response time.

My journey with AHS has been marked by some ups and downs, particularly when it comes to their vendor services. My latest interaction with AHS involved a plumbing issue in the upstairs bathroom. When DNA Plumbing came out for the repair, the problem wasn't resolved, and there continued to be a leak. Thankfully, they returned, claiming to have fixed it, and since then, I haven't noticed any leakage.
The claim process with American Home Shield is generally efficient, as they respond quite quickly. However, the issue arises with the contractors. There tends to be a delay in action from them, which can be frustrating, especially when dealing with active leaks or other pressing issues.
Overall, I’d rate my experience as a 3 out of 5. While American Home Shield gets back promptly, the wait time for repairs creates a significant inconvenience.

I had American Home Shield years ago and back then, things were rocky. The winter of 2020 was particularly challenging when our furnace broke down, leaving us without heat for two months during one of the coldest winters. However, recent interactions have been significantly more positive. After some time with different providers, which proved less satisfactory, American Home Shield reached out, ensuring me that a lot had changed in their operations. One standout experience was with a very thorough salesperson who took her time to explain updated offerings, making me feel confident in the revived service.
Also, I recently had an HVAC unit issue, and not only did they fill the unit with Freon, but when an electrical problem arose, they quickly sent out both an HVAC technician and an electrician without additional service charges. I did have to pay a small fee for one part that wasn't covered, but the amount was reasonable and expected. Customer service has been notably improved, especially when compared to previous experiences when communication barriers made problem-solving difficult. This time around, support staff was more understanding, clearly grasping my concerns.
Despite misgivings stemming from past experiences, my recent service interactions have led me to rate them quite highly. The response was prompt, the service reliable, and the overall outcome much more favorable than before. The experts they sent out were professional and resolved the issues efficiently, reinforcing my renewed faith in their service.

We've been with American Home Shield for four years. We got them in the middle of '21 and we've never had any issues. They've covered everything that we needed them to cover up to this point, and their customer service has been great. We had a couple of different times we've had to use their services and they've consistently offered quick responses and timely service. For instance, there was a situation where we needed follow-up, and they addressed it promptly, reinforcing their commitment to customer satisfaction.
The technicians that American Home Shield sends are commendable. They're fast and efficient. In a recent experience, one technician not only addressed our air conditioning issue but also took the time to explain the situation thoroughly. We have the air conditioner thing with that free check that American Home Shield offers, and he walked me through it all. He assured us that our equipment was in excellent condition and we shouldn't have any issues.
I'd recommend American Home Shield. So far, every issue we've encountered has been effectively managed.

I've been with American Home Shield for many years, and when I needed them, they weren't there. They sent Guardian Plumbing to inspect some plumbing issues, and the technician initially refused to enter the property and made inappropriate, racially charged comments. His conduct was outrageous and I reported that to Guardian. The technician's behavior was disturbing enough for me to capture it on video. American Home Shield also indicated that he gave a report that turned out to be completely erroneous. I had another plumber confirm that his evaluation was totally inaccurate. American Home Shield gave a second opinion from a different plumber that came up with an entirely different diagnosis.
I fault American Home Shield for allowing Guardian Plumbing to work with them despite their apparent misconduct. The vendor even stated on camera that he does a lot of work for American Home Shield and that they pressure him to find reasons to deny coverage. This is very concerning and I'm inclined to publicize. Following the second opinion, American Home Shield failed to provide me with any written reports from either plumber. I called and spoke with the phone representative who said they received the diagnosis. They read portions of it to me and said they would get it to me within three business days. I never received any written diagnosis and I ended up having to file a complaint with the department of insurance.
American Home Shield denied coverage due to the diagnosis of both plumbers, which they both refused to share with me. After I complained to the government, they then offered me some paltry sum. The entire experience was deeply disappointing, leading me to cancel my policy. At this point, I wouldn't even give them 1 star.

We found a leak in one of the pipes and although a company quickly fixed the pipe, they didn't take care of the drywall, leaving a noticeable hole in our ceiling. American Home Shield thought the job was done and closed the case, so I reached out to them again. They sent Messina Design Drywall over and they handled the repair swiftly and efficiently. Initially, they reached out to me via text message to confirm and I sent a photo of what the ceiling looked like. They told me the time, and once on-site, they completed their work in about 10-15 minutes. They did not paint anything. They just did the drywall and the mudding over it. Still, I'd rate their service highly, at a 5, due to their professionalism and speed.
I appreciate that we've gotten good use out of American Home Shield. After we bought our house, we got it with a different company's home warranty included for a year. When we wanted to extend the coverage, we decided to go with Home Shield. While there have always been some hiccups, overall, it's good and we're happy we have the coverage. I love that they do virtual visits now, which is great. However, I spent a lot of time doing that and we did some diagnosing via a Facetime call, but none of the notes and none of the video got to the third-party company they sent out to my house. So, then I had to go through the whole thing with someone in person.
American Home Shield had this great technology, but there was a gap. We thought it was gonna be awesome, but then I kept calling that third-party company and American Home Shield, and no one ever fixed the issue to get them the video and all the notes. The third-party company went into our house blind to what the issue was when they could have had all this great information. Despite these hiccups, I find the service beneficial, ensuring peace of mind with home repairs. Overall, I'm pleased with having American Home Shield.

I've been with American Home Shield for a while through HSA. It's the same company, but then I've had them since 2009. They had A-Advanced Home Services visit to see what's wrong with my air conditioning system and they thoroughly examined it, identified the underlying issue, and gave me an estimated time for the parts. As the wait was extensive, I opted for a full replacement of both my upstairs and downstairs units based on their quote, which I found reasonable.
Though American Home Shield didn't cover the cost of the new units directly, their service provided me with the necessary choices. Reflecting on my experience, I had highly positive interactions with American Home Shield. I just got services for my sister's new house through American Home Shield as well.
A big part of my satisfaction comes from their consistently reliable customer service, which I might rate at a high level. Using their website to set up requests has been straightforward and efficient.
I'm more than satisfied with the value that American Home Shield delivers, and my loyalty speaks volumes about my experience.

The icemaker on my refrigerator froze over and we weren't able to thaw it out and get it working again. We reached out to American Home Shield and they had ATY Services come out and fix it. They took care of the problem efficiently a couple of weeks ago. I've been keeping track of it, and so far, so good.
I've had American Home Shield for years and I'd happily recommend them. I've always been pleased with their service and have given them props over the years. I found their website user-friendly, making it easy to navigate and set up service requests. Customer service was top-notch, and I would rate them a 5 out of 5 for service quality. When considering the price, I'd rate it a bit lower, but overall, I’ve been satisfied with the value—they'd get a solid 4 from me.

We had a broken pipe on the dishwasher, and Asset Appliances, the vendor American Home Shield sent, initially replaced a broken pipe. After re-installation, the dishwasher was unfortunately leaning forward and still leaked. It was gathering water in front. They returned to correct the positioning, and it's much better now, though it's a bit crooked—fortunately, it's not leaning forward anymore.
I’ve been a customer of American Home Shield for several years and have mixed feelings. They have a good program and they cover a lot, but they get below par vendors. I don't particularly care for them. Despite this though, I haven’t experienced further problems with my appliance.
Customer service is impressive, and I've had a good experience in terms of pricing and online interface, which works smoothly.

I had an issue with a leaking water heater. When it came time to submit my claim with AHS, I did it online and found the process straightforward, although it required some guesswork as the options were not very specific. I ended up categorizing the issue as a leaking pipe.
Before the service visit, I was informed that someone would contact me within 24 hours, which was reassuring. Heros Plumbing, who attended to the issue, was phenomenal—they were quick, efficient, and resolved the problem by replacing a pipe. My system has been functioning well since then.
I've been with American Home Shield for six to seven years, and their service has been consistently good, although the cost has escalated from around $40 a month to over $160, which feels excessive. I've recommended the company to my friends because they've consistently resolved issues for me by either fixing the problem or replacing items.
Although everything works fine now, I'm unsure how much longer I'll maintain the service due to the price hike. On a rating scale, I'd give American Home Shield a high rating for service and ease of use on their website but a moderate rating for their pricing. Despite the price concerns, their coverage has been satisfactory, and dealing with issues online has been convenient for me.

We had American Home Shield on my previous house. When I initially encountered a problem with my AC – no cold air was coming out – I decided to submit a claim through their app. Although it was a Friday, while American Home Shield promised a call by Saturday, it actually came on Monday due to their system constraints over the weekend. By Tuesday, a contractor, dispatched to my property, provided tremendous service. The whole process, despite starting on Friday and getting resolved by Tuesday, was seamless.
The contractor’s professionalism was noticeable. He began with the outside unit’s inspection before heading to the attic, where he identified the issue - a misplaced wire causing heat instead of cooling air. After resolving it, the HVAC has been functioning perfectly with no further issues. Reflecting on the overall experience, I felt highly satisfied with the communication and service. With over 15 years in our current home and seeing the benefit of American Home Shield, I'd recommend it to others; it's worth the investment for valuable coverage against potentially costly repairs.

When I originally bought my home in 2020, we had American Home Shield included in the purchase that the buyer would pay for the first year and it was just the company that I was assigned. I had a really good experience that first year. At first glance, their service looked promising, and though they initially covered my appliances thoroughly by replacing about five major ones in need, my experiences with their contractors have been more complicated.
I ran into a significant problem when my service technician mishandled a job, stretching what should've been a brief repair into a five-month ordeal. He ordered incorrect parts without notice and then completely dropped communication, leading me on an exhausting cycle of repeatedly contacting American Home Shield. Thankfully, after several no-shows from him, a new contractor was sent, and they skillfully fixed the issues, but not without about six months passing by.
The company's response was underwhelming during this time, leaving me to chase communication constantly. Initially, the contractors receive commendations for professionalism, providing their business name and contact information upfront. Still, this has been inconsistent across my dealings with at least seven to eight contractors in two years. Notably, two former service providers will no longer enter my home due to their treatment of me and my mother or their unprofessional remarks about our pets.
In fairness, once I receive reliable technicians, everything goes smoothly. I have benefited from the warranties—including five complete appliance replacements—which have saved me considerable money over time. Generally, I would rate my experience as mediocre and rate them a three, mainly due to the inconsistency with contractors. It seems being proactive and engaged with the process—including navigating their website, which is refreshingly user-friendly—can ensure quicker resolutions.

I've been with American Home Shield for about five years now, and overall, my experience has been satisfactory. Their customer service is decent, though I've occasionally encountered representatives with thick accents, making communication a bit challenging at times. The most recent claim I had involved a malfunctioning air conditioner. They did send someone to fix it, but it took about a week, largely due to weekends and holidays, which was inconvenient given the intense heat in South Texas. Some sort of emergency service for such scenarios would be advantageous. In a separate incident from a year ago, a technician came for air conditioning maintenance, merely glanced at it, and left. The system failed almost immediately after, as if the technician hadn't done a thorough job. Nonetheless, this was an isolated issue, and my experience couple aside has been positive overall with American Home Shield.

We initially encountered a problem with our dishwasher. The first company sent to resolve the issue was supposed to specialize in General Electric appliances, but they fell short. They diagnosed the dishwasher, claimed they needed to order a part, yet they never followed up. After being unable to reach them, I called American Home Shield, and they promptly reassigned a different service provider, AA Dependable Appliance Services. The technician from AA Dependable, Jesse, was excellent. He arrived, confirmed the initial diagnosis, ordered the part himself, and returned by the end of the week to fix the dishwasher. It's been working perfectly ever since.
Having been a customer of American Home Shield for years across two homes — originally about 15 years at our previous home, and now close to a year in the new one — I appreciate their commitment to service. While transitioning meant starting a new policy, having been grandfathered in allowed some benefits carry over at a $75 claim rate. Prices have adjusted a little over time, but they remain reasonable given the coverage.
Overall, the coverage is comprehensive, although there have been minor changes like the roof coverage amount. Yet, these have not been significant enough to make me reconsider. I recommend American Home Shield because they provide a security net against unpredictable home repairs. The ease of placing service requests online is an added bonus, simplifying the process so I rarely have need to call. Customer service has always been responsive, making for an excellent overall experience.

I got peace of mind but it comes with a cost. My journey began when I submitted a claim through American Home Shield's automated system, as I don't really like navigating websites. I found the process straightforward; they sent me a text about the contractor, AZA Repair Inc, who would be handling my issue. The service provided by the contractor was a bit of a mixed bag. When the representative arrived, they mentioned repairs that weren't covered and suggested it would cost a hefty $1,000. However, after they finished, my system seemed to be working just fine without implementing those costly suggestions, which left me feeling a bit skeptical about their intentions.
I've been with American Home Shield for over 12 years. While I find the service invaluable and have even recommended it to my mom, there are a few downsides. The deductibles and premiums continue to rise, making it harder to justify the expense each year. This would be a key factor I'd communicate to friends or family interested in the service because, despite its benefits, the increasing costs could eventually lead me to reconsider not only maintaining this coverage but possibly evaluating a new approach by setting aside savings for future expenses instead.

My washer began leaking uncontrollably, and the dryer just refused to heat. The tedious three-hour marathon just to dry a load of clothes became unbearable. Submitting a claim, thankfully, was smooth; I simply made a call. American Home Shield has been attentive on calls, making it easy to reach a representative. However, this is the first time the swift response has been marred by delays. Despite being a customer for three to four years, I now find myself waiting a month and a half—still eager for parts to arrive so repairs can finally take place. Previously, they were quick in addressing issues, almost taking care of things promptly. So, this prolonged wait has been rather unexpected and disappointing.
Though I have had positive past experiences which makes me hesitant to complain extensively, it's frustrating not knowing when this will resolve. I haven’t actively used their website, but my general experience with their customer service over the phone has been decent. It’s fair to say their coverage is commendable, even if I can't fully comment on the service until my repair saga concludes. American Home Shield covers everything that I have. I had an issue with the pipes under my master bathroom; the toilet wouldn't flush twice in quick succession, and using the shower or sink caused bubbling in the toilet. Patriot Plumbing LLC came out to investigate. The plumber tried using a motorized snake but was unable to clear the blockage as there was no clean-out access outside. I ended up resolving the issue myself; it turned out to be a blockage caused by flushed baby wipes. Despite the mishap, the technician was respectful and candid throughout the process.
I usually submit my claims online or via the app, although I faced an issue adding my washing machine recently. When seeking help, I found American Home Shield's customer service to be courteous and responsive. In terms of coverage, they excel at covering a vast array of home appliances and issues. Even though a part for an appliance once took longer to arrive, I can't fault them since most matters are handled promptly and efficiently.
I've not faced any major issues and have recommended their services to others. I would give their service a high rating since they offer fair resolutions, like the buyout we got for our dryer. Interactions with their representatives, though rare, have been positive—they're helpful and efficient. Fixing small things, like making all appliances accessible on the app, could improve the experience, but it’s been a smooth process overall.

We recently had an issue with the pool pump, it just wasn't working. American Home Shield sent Spotless Pools to handle the repair. They were efficient, managing to replace the pump within two days, which I appreciated a lot.

While the website process for submitting claims to American Home Shield is straightforward and user-friendly, I'm currently dealing with an unresolved issue. I reported that our freezer was making noise, not dispensing ice, and even though Aurora Services Inc. came out and supposedly fixed the water leak, the noise persists.
Despite the inconvenience, what's commendable about American Home Shield is their prompt response—they come out fast to address issues. However, when problems aren't fully resolved, it becomes unclear whether to follow up with the contractor or directly with AHS, and a clearer line of communication in such cases would be helpful.
Overall, while my experience has had its hiccups, the assurance of not worrying about the costs most of the time and having repairs done is reassuring. Yet, I wish there was a way to better manage these ongoing issues without the uncertainty of whom to contact next.

American Home Shield popped up first in my search and offered the best prices compared to others. It's been just over a year since I chose them.
While I haven't filed a formal claim yet, I did use their $100 service option for HVAC maintenance. It allows for a technician to visit and tune up the system. I've used this service twice, and it has been a positive experience both times. Thankfully, I haven't had any major breakdowns yet.
An aspect I really appreciate is their online setup system. It means I can arrange everything without needing to make phone calls which suits me perfectly since I prefer minimal contact.

Tom Melton Services was sent out to inspect the hot water tank and I expected a resolution. However, to my surprise, instead of fixing the issue, I received a quote stating a $1500 out-of-pocket cost, despite having a warranty I believed covered such repairs.
Though the tank itself was supposed to be covered, they added charges for permits, screws, labor, and materials supposedly not included, which didn’t sit right with me. I felt misled, especially since a hot water tank generally costs about $500. Confusingly, American Home Shield wasn't clear about my entitlement to a second opinion or alternative options.
Their communication on the resolution was far from prompt. They offered a cash payout, stating it could take up to 40-50 business days, which felt excessively long given the urgency of the situation. My home warranty, intended to serve in emergencies, was turning out to be a source of fresh frustration.
My patience wavered as we went without hot water for nearly two months. With children in the house, using this warranty was my last resort, which couldn't have been more poorly handled.
Ultimately, the experience left me feeling on the brink of scammed. They failed to make good on their promises swiftly, leaving the impression that while emergencies unfold, quick help may not follow. They're quite prompt in taking payments, but not in delivering service at a time when it's genuinely needed.

American Home Shield scheduled Energy Concepts to handle the air conditioning repair and once they came out, their service was satisfactory. They promptly diagnosed a faulty capacitor, ordered a replacement, and resolved the issue by the next day. However, my main concern wasn’t with Energy Concepts but with the timeframe it took for American Home Shield to assign the task. It took about 5 business days, or roughly 7 calendar days, to get someone designated for the job, which was unacceptable, especially during the peak heat of summer.
I've had other HVAC jobs done before under the contracts I hold, including my mother's, and usually, they’ve been handled by the same local service. This was the first time American Home Shield used Energy Concepts for our service, which was unexpected. On this occasion, I'd rate American Home Shield a 2 out of 5 due to the delay. Throughout this process, my interaction with their customer service was frustrating, repeating the same timeline that they’d already exceeded. I'd rate their customer service experience a 1 out of 5, as it was seriously lacking in efficiency and accountability.
In terms of pricing, I felt neutral but using their online service platform led to more dissatisfaction—it’s decent for starting a ticket, but there’s no resolution or adequate follow-up when issues arise. I faced a lot of dead ends trying to sort things out online.

I had a less-than-ideal experience with AHS when the techs came out to address an issue with my dryer not heating properly. Although there’s now some warmth, my dryer still isn't functioning correctly, and it takes four cycles to dry a small load. There was a notable lack of engagement and helpfulness during this visit, and my expectations of a resolution were not met.
Despite being told that the heating element was replaced, the issue persists. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back after reporting this, which is quite frustrating, and I feel I need to follow up persistently to get any action. This is disappointing given that, in all other cases before this, the technicians have been excellent, and I've always found the process generally smooth.
However, one aspect that bothers me about American Home Shield is the annual rate increase that happens without clear notification, and the automatic enrollment into a contract without explicit consent.

Despite the significant quoted cost, American Home Shield offered me a meager cash-out option—barely enough to cover the real repair costs. So, I sought another company and had them fix the specific issue with the AC: the A-coil was replaced at a more reasonable cost.
Although my experiences with American Home Shield over the past eight years have generally been positive and straightforward, especially with other appliances like my refrigerator, this incident was an exception. Dealing with Comfort Pros was frustrating, time-consuming, and felt like a pressured sales tactic forcing a full replacement. The contractor, Lane Services, handled the repair for my air conditioner efficiently. The air conditioning unit was stuck on and wouldn’t turn off. After contacting American Home Shield, a rep called to ensure the contractor would reach out to me directly. This was a neat touch, although I would have appreciated a bit more detailed communication from American Home Shield itself about the contractor's details.
Lane Services did face a slight delay due to part availability over a holiday weekend, but they kept me informed every step of the way, constantly communicating about the arrival of a control switch module. Their service was phenomenal, and I was impressed by their commitment to keeping me in the loop, which aligned with my own customer service background.
In terms of performance, our air conditioner now works as expected, given its age—a 30-year-old system—thanks to thorough evaluation and repair work by the technicians. While this particular experience was quite favorable, my overall perception of American Home Shield has some room for improvement.
In the past, I have encountered issues where American Home Shield seemed to 'battle' not to cover certain services. Particularly with a claim involving the septic system, there was confusion about coverage gaps which I found frustrating. I’d advise them to streamline coverage protocols to ensure complete system coverage once an add-on is selected.
While American Home Shield generally follows through with claims that fit into their outlined coverage, they may scrutinize smaller specifics to avoid covering what they can.

When I had an issue with the air conditioner at one of my properties, I submitted the claim online, which was a straightforward process, allowing me to easily log in and register the problem. Despite the simplicity of the claims process, the experience with the subsequent repair service left much to be desired.
Initially, Rescue Your Air & Drain identified the problem as a thermostat issue, which they replaced after a few days. During this period, communication from the contractor was below par, as I was often left in the dark about their schedule and next steps. Furthermore, the technician discovered there was also a refrigerant leak, but unfortunately, it took him multiple visits and almost a month to finally conclude that the evaporator coil needed to be replaced.
My tenant hasn't reported any further issues, but this repair ordeal was quite taxing. The drawn-out process was largely due to the need for parts and a lack of communication. I believe that American Home Shield could improve its service by maintaining a more communicative role during such repair processes, perhaps better coordinating and overseeing the contractors they engage with.
The initial claim process with American Home Shield was efficient, but the execution lacked the support and coordination I expected. As a result, I can only somewhat recommend them, acknowledging that while their claims system functions well, the dependency on third-party contractors led to significant delays and frustration.

Once I booked the service, the contractor, Refco's, arrived as scheduled. They were friendly and eager to assist but, unfortunately, not as knowledgeable as I had hoped. The technician had to phone a more experienced colleague for guidance, demonstrating a concerning lack of firsthand expertise.
Surprisingly, my main challenge was the extended timeframe for resolving the problem: nearly three weeks from the beginning of the claim to the final fix. I ended up needing to get another company involved as well due to initial delays, reflecting the sluggishness of service through American Home Shield. The process itself was confusing, especially since I discovered my claim wrongly marked as completed when it wasn't, leading to multiple calls for corrections.
When speaking to others about my experience, I generally say that American Home Shield will cover basic repairs but prepare to encounter potential delays and underwhelming local contractors. Such experiences have formed my awareness over the years, seen also during a past furnace issue when one of my previous homes was in Oregon, which American Home Shield took an extended time handling.
Lastly, if you need something discontinued or special, expect further inconvenience. You're bound to receive slow service as their processes carry inherent inefficiencies.

American Home Shield sent a promotional email offering a spring checkup for my air conditioning for $100. After reading through the offer, I signed up for the checkup. They initially scheduled a different service provider, but due to emergency priorities, that appointment was canceled and refunded. American Home Shield then arranged for Arrow Air Systems to handle the checkup.
When Matt from Arrow Air Systems arrived, I was pleased with his clarity and professionalism. He seemed knowledgeable and effectively communicated the results, stating the air conditioning unit was in good condition without requiring any repairs. However, I discovered my policy only covered one unit, while I actually have two AC units.
I've been with American Home Shield since purchasing my townhome in October 2022 and the customer service has always been responsive. I'm quite satisfied with their service, and I wouldn't hesitate to tell family or friends about my positive experience.
Overall, I'd rate their customer service highly and I'm confident my policy covers everything I need, so I'd rate both as a 5. The monthly fee seems fair at around $50 and their website is user-friendly, earning a 4 for both.
