The pipe around the AC leaked because it wasn't sealed right, so I reached out to American Home Shield online to get that fixed. Setting up a service request is fairly easy, but sometimes I don’t know which option to pick on the website. The contractor came out and fixed what they were supposed to. It was good service.

We had an issue with the capacitor and had a contractor come out. He came out when he said he would and was very friendly and professional. He went right to work and diagnosed the problem quickly. He replaced the capacitor and even took a look at the other unit for me. I liked him a lot. Another tech who came out for the second unit did a good job, was professional, and got it running. It’s still running now. I’ve been pleased with the technicians that actually show up.
Initially, we had an appointment with someone, but they didn’t show up when they were supposed to. When I called the person that scheduled it, she just said that they had 60 tickets to do and that we hadn’t been scheduled yet. She also said they had one technician and he’s in Savannah. When I asked when we’ll get scheduled, she couldn’t give me a definite answer. I just pretty much gave up on that. I thought that was bad service. We waited a week and a half to hear that.
I then called American Home Shield and asked for another contractor, even if it’s outside of the ones that they normally use. They tried one other person, and that didn’t show up either. Finally, they got this company, and they did a really great job. The bottom line was they finally got it fixed, but it could have been timely.

American Home Shield has done my AC a few times. They were doing my air handler this time. The tech came out with the part and got that fixed. I was gonna have a cleaning done on that because it had mold. While I was waiting for that, the other part of the AC had a problem and froze over. It went out, and now I need to have a new AC. I can’t do it right now because of the money. Right now, I’m just running it real low at 80 degrees, hoping it doesn’t freeze up. At first, they wanted to do a temporary fix. I chose not to do it because it’s 600 something dollars to put in the coil that’s gonna fix the problem. The air conditioner is 20 years old, so it has to be replaced. If they don’t replace, they do give you a really, really good price.
Every time I call, the same technicians come back out. The boss calls me, and he’s been wonderful. They're amazing. I’d like to stay with them because they’ve been very, very honest and they’re hanging with me. I’m gonna be replacing my AC with them because I know they’ll take care of me.
I requested them when the AC broke. I called at night time and talked to a gentleman in another country. He didn’t have the ability to assign it to them because it was night time. He could only do the automatic and couldn’t reassign it. I called back the next morning, and they were able to do it when the office opened. They got everything rolling. There was another time I called for the AC, and the contractor’s office was closed. The rep didn’t know and missed them.
American Home Shield has always been very good. I used to do real estate, and I gave their warranty as closing gift to some of my customers. I know that I’m just gonna pay the $125, and that helps me because I’m retired and on Social Security.
Your insights are incredibly helpful in guiding our efforts to improve and ensure we’re meeting your expectations. We're committed to delivering the best possible service, and your feedback plays a vital role in helping us achieve that goal.
Once again, thank you for your thoughtful comments. We look forward to continuing to serve you and strengthening our relationship in the future.

They had to order parts and come back. It wasn’t a problem, though, because I was comfortable until they got back.
AHS treated me like they had a lot of knowledge. They were very sympathetic of my problem. everything was done the way it should be, so I didn’t have any problem with them. AHS is the most wonderful thing I’ve ever heard of in my life, and I have already referred one customer because they were absolutely excellent.
Thank you so much for the detailed and thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience with our team and the seamless service you received from Hansen Mechanical. While delays for parts can be disruptive, it's wonderful to know that you still found overall satisfaction with our service. We truly appreciate your recommendation to others and are grateful for your understanding about the pricing discrepancy. Safe Cali Plumbing came out to fix this minor leak in the sink. It was all good. The guy needed to go get a part, and went and got it, and came back. It was great. However, streamlining the communication between the company and contractors would be a little more helpful. Sometimes, I communicated with the companies I'm being dispatched to in various forms. At one point, I was not sure why I was getting a text.

Arg Going Green fixed a broken wire. The AC was was working but it was making a weird noise, the outside unit. The technician said it was the loose contact. And as it was vibrating, it would shut off and turn back on. I’ve had American Home Shield for a few years now. I like that they do what they promise. If something broke, they will fix it. Somehow their fees went up drastically in the last couple of years. It's almost doubled, but everything else has too.

I'm really discouraged with the American Home Shield. I'm debating getting rid of it because they didn't do anything. I paid $125 for them to come down here. On May 12th, the guy who works on my rental property's heat and air came over here and washed out all of my units and got them all checked for Freon and everything. And he told me my downstairs unit got a busted heat exchanger. He turned the gas off, and he said not to run the unit.
I called AHS on July 16th because my air went out. The contractor came down here and told me I need Freon because it was leaking out. And since they do not do that, I have to pay for the Freon. I told him that if he doesn’t do that, I can pay for the man I use for my rental property.
AHS sent me a message asking if I wanted to pay $2,600 so they would change that heat exchanger. It's an old unit. They said they don’t prorate stuff. And that they are not going to do anything with my unit.
I got the warranty in January. They said I had to have it 45 days before I could use it. January to May 12th is a lot more than 45 days. It’s August 20th, and I'm still without air. And I got a beauty shop downstairs. So, American Home Shield doesn't care about their people. All they care about is getting your money every month.
My daughter lives next door to me and she got American Home Shield, too. Her refrigerator has been out since June. She had put her stuff in my carport refrigerator and bought a small refrigerator. They've been down there three times, and every time they come down there, they go back, and they get fired or quit. Her main refrigerator has not been fixed.
I spent my $125 for a deductible for nothing. I just got my man come over here and put some Freon in it, and found the leak. But I'm not gonna put $2,600 in an old unit because my compressor could go out before the end of the year. The rep told me she’ll see if she can get me my deposit back. But it hadn't come in on my credit card.
I was misled when I talked to the girl. You'd think that since you got the policy with them, they would at least fix the leak before they put Freon in there. They didn’t have a service man close to where I live. You have to get an appointment. And they call me the next day if I’m lucky. But when they come, they don't come back.
I'm probably gonna cancel my subscription and just buy myself a new unit and go from there. Home warranty is bullcrap. When your money is tight, your husband passes away, and here you are, you've lost half of your salary coming in and everything, and so you'd buy that for protection. And then they tell you, you don't have any protection when it happens.
My experience has been bad. And I wish somebody had told me that. The Lord showed me how they are so that I wouldn't waste my money. I got 10 pieces of rental property. And I thought of buying AHS plans for my rental properties. I’m not going to give them anything good because they haven't done anything good for me. I'm just done. I'm going to put $200 a month in my savings account and when I have a problem, I'm gonna take it out of that account to fix it. And in that way, I know it's there.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.
Warm regards,
Kim

My garbage disposal was making a very loud noise. I called AHS to have someone come out and take a look at it. And Priority Plumbing & Services had serviced my house once before. I didn't have any problems with them back then. They came out, did what they needed to do, and they left.
For this recent claim, Dustin came out, looked into the garbage disposal and took a pictures. He pulled out what looked like it was a string, and he said that he found it in the garbage disposal. I asked if it will not make noise anymore since he took the string out but he did not say anything. I went over it and I flipped the switch, and it’s making a churning sound. He said the garbage disposal is working. I told him my issue was the noise so he should either fix it or replace it.
He called American Home Shield to say that it will take him to long to repair it because he can’t find the actual issue that’s causing the sound. Since the other option is replacement, he said he will ask for approval from AHS. He went out and came back with a new garbage disposal. I thought he already got the approval. He was talking to the lady who said they will not approve the replacement since my garbage disposal is working.
AHS offered to send someone for a second opinion. I told them they can do what they have to, but I want the garbage disposal fixed. However since I am working, I can’t take another day off just for that, unless she can send the person that same day. Dustin told me the new garbage disposal is $485. I told them I will report AHS and his company to the consumer advocacy group. I actually called the group because I'm not going to pay money for service that I should have been given. Eventually Dustin replaced it, turned it on and the new one sounded just how a garbage disposal should.
American Home Shield is not the same company that I dealt with when I first got them. They've become so profit-driven that they're losing sight that they're in business to serve the customer, not to serve the investors at every opportunity. This is gonna be the last time I renew with American Home Shield. I'm so disappointed that I've got to go through this just to get something that I'm paying for.
If you look at my record, I'm not one that calls in just to have someone to come out frivolously and do nothing. All they’re trying to do is just suck money out of me and get free money. I was so offended and hurt because I felt that since I’m a woman, I’m stupid and take their recommendation and take advantage of me. I guess God shines down upon me. I've been doing something right that Dustin went on and replaced it. On the other hand, American Home Shield is dropping the ball, and they wonder why clients, people, customers are not renewing.
American Home Shield's got to be in cahoots with companies to deny customers, even the ones that are legitimate. They deny even the repair of what people are paying for. That’s why I reported them. If they don’t make improvements, I’m gone.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

Kim

I recently bought our house. I'm a disabled veteran and the house was inspected by the VA. There were no issues with the air conditioning. Recently, I filed a claim for my AC and American Home Shield said they found two agencies. But I waited for about two weeks before someone even came out to even look at it.
The first contractor said he won't touch it and that he refuses to do any service for AHS because there's too much paperwork. So, my only choice was with May Heating and Air. Their guy was really nice. He sent a report to American Home Shield, but it was denied saying the issue was pre-existent. I requested a second opinion, and no one has contacted me as of yet.
AHS hasn't done what they said they would do. When you have a warranty program, they don't know what problems are in the house at the time. So, you can't keep coming back and say everything is pre-existing unless I started with you when I first bought the appliance and worked my way through, then it would be one of those things where you knew this was happening.
It is 90 degrees every day and my air has been down since July. Home Shield's process is so slow. I'm very dissatisfied. I'm not a very happy camper.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

Filing claims online with AHS is good. Setting up the request online is fairly straightforward and easy. The only thing that is missing from the system is they don't have a type of emergency appointment set up. So, for example, my AC went out and it was during the heat wave here in Florida. The inside of the house was 97 degrees which was a health risk situation. This happened on a Friday and we couldn't get someone until Tuesday. That emergency part in their system would be critical. That is definitely an improvement that could be added
A company came and did a diagnostic on my AC and they told me it was gonna be a very large bill that needed to be approved by American Home Shield. But for some reason, once that was reviewed, AHS didn't schedule the same company. They scheduled a new company, J.E.T.
The gentleman from J.E.T was very straightforward. I told him everything that the previous technician had said was wrong. He went outside, checked the pressure of the system, and everything looked good. There was a faulty pressure switch but he told me that that added an aftermarket and that I didn't need one for this unit. He was very easy to deal with.
I've also reached out to American Home Shield to cancel a previous plan. They're very determined and don't know how to let go. I already sold the property and they still tried to give me an offer or a discount. This went on for another 5 to 10 minutes to where I started getting aggravated.
I understand they're trying to retain business. But there are certain situations where once the customer's determined, or there's a specific circumstance, there is no need for me to hold the warranty, and they just gotta let go.
As for their pricing, it has its ups and downs. I had the gold plan and then after a year, they asked me about renewing my contract. I went online and I looked at the upgrade to platinum. It turned out that the platinum was now cheaper than what I was paying for the gold.
I'm not sure if you can change plans halfway through a contract or if you have to wait to renew. But when there's such a drastic change, I think it would be important for American Home Shield to make the adjustment. Because I felt kind of robbed. I was paying for a lesser plan.
For example, I had to pay out-of-pocket for my Freon fills, versus the platinum where you get the fills for free. It turns out I was paying for a higher cost for a lesser plan because there was probably a price adjustment that happens sometime during the year. The pricing could be a little bit more transparent.
I have multiple properties with AHS and I'm very happy with it. I recommend them to everyone at work or my close family friends. I still think they are offering a great service.
We're so appreciative of your positive feedback and continued trust in our services for your properties. It's great to hear about your refreshing experience with Jet Mobile Engineering and the straightforward, informative service they provided. Your suggestions about emergency appointments and pricing transparency are invaluable, and we'll certainly take them into account as we look to improve our offerings. On top of that, the phone number you call to make a report is offshore. The company that calls me back is offshore as well, and they are obviously reading from a script. When I pushed back a little, it was like they didn’t understand and just went right back to the script, which certainly offended me. I asked if I could speak to an onshore person, and they told me they are an international company and that they are the people I have to speak to. That totally offended me and I don't want to ruin their day by giving them my feelings, so I just said, “Goodbye.”

We thought we had an air conditioner issue since our house wasn't cooling. It turned out to be a breaker or a fuse on the disconnect that blew out. That disconnect wasn’t located directly next to the HVAC unit. The repairman who came out was great, and I liked him, but he did not find the disconnect. He recommended that we needed an electrician to come out. He texted me a couple of hours later, saying that they would submit the paperwork.
His boss was supposed to do the paperwork so that we could keep moving forward. I had the owner's number, so I texted him and asked if he had done it. I could see that he read the message, but he didn’t answer. It had been a few days without air, and we have a baby. We couldn’t live in a house that’s 90 degrees. The fact that their company delayed turning in the information was our negative experience.
We waited another day. After the second or third time, we called AHS twice. They told us to keep waiting. By then, we decided that we would just get an electrician ourselves. That person came out and took care of the issue in less than 20 minutes. I then told the company not to use a referral if it came through because our issue had been taken care. They ended up referring the same electrician to come out again. We just told him not to worry because he already fixed the problem. The people at AHS knew what our problem was and should have been able to go ahead and send the electrician out in the first place. They couldnt, and because of that, it put us in a bind.
We are committed to providing the best possible service and your feedback is instrumental in helping us achieve that goal. Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We look forward to serving you in the future and continuing to build a strong relationship.

Usually, the claim process is painful. It takes a long time for them to actually send the provider. Or, a lot of times, the providers that are the first ones to appear aren't very competent, so it takes a second trial for them to come and fix it.

My experience with Accord Appliance was just horrible. I’ve been with American Home Shield for three months now, and I got the insurance for preventative measures, when we start hearing stuff, let’s tune it up. But it’s starting to feel like a scam because they’d rather fix or replace a whole unit that isn't working at all.
I filed two claims, one for my dishwasher and one for my washer. The dishwasher was completely broke, and ironically, that was the only thing they did good. They actually fixed it. But my washer is knocking, even though it still works. The guy came out and said my bearings are bent, but he said it wasn't my fault and that Maytag just screwed up when they made these washers. He made it seem like all they had to do was order the parts and he’d be back to fix it.
Then, the claim response said the washer isn’t covered because the tech supposedly said I overloaded it. Mind you, the guy was right there in my house fixing the dishwasher, he told me he didn't say that and to ask AHS for the full report. I’m going back and forth ever since July 31st and I never got a full report. AHS said I could have gotten a second opinion, but now it’s too late. I just need them to justify this and show me where the tech actually even said that.
I feel like I’m the one paying, but I’m the middleman. He says he didn’t say it, AHS says he did, and everyone just keeps pointing fingers. I’ve been asking how much the bearings are so I can just pay for them myself since I already paid the service fee, but no one is calling me back. My coverage says bearings are covered, but because the tech said that I overloaded it, it’s no longer covered.
Also, AHS uses an off-shore team. They’re just reading prompts and going through the motions, they’re professional note-takers, not problem solvers. I highly recommend they get a problem-solving team. It’s a red flag to me that when you purchase a plan, everyone speaks English, but when it’s time to get service, no one speaks good English.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I am currently without AC. I set up the service request with American Home Shield on Aug 11, 2025. The service contractor contacted my promptly on Aug 12 to confirm an appointment for Aug, 13,2025. This was great. This is the experience I have been accustomed to. I was not prepared for that contractor to send me a text message at the end of the business day to advise Due to unforeseen circumstances they would be rescheduling my appointment to Aug 19, which was totally unacceptable. I contacted American Home shied to request another provider. Can you believe it is aug 16 and they don't have a provider. This is not the American Home Shield I am accustomed to. I can't believe they don't have a provider assigned yet. This is unbelievable. American Home Shield has always been good, but this is truly disappointing. It is very hot in Texas. This is completely unacceptable.
I sincerely apologize for the issues you've faced with your service request. It's concerning to hear about the delay in assigning a provider, especially with something as crucial as air conditioning during hot weather in Texas. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and assure you that we're addressing this to expedite the process. Your comfort and satisfaction are important to us and we'll strive to ensure this issue is resolved quickly. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to assist you more effectively.

United Garage, the contractor that Home Shield sent recently, didn't work on anything because when they came, they decided that whatever was the problem was not covered. They decided they were not gonna do anything about it. I had to go and call an independent contractor who gave me a report different from the report Home Shield's technician gave that made it look like it was not covered.
This was not the first time. Whether it was the garage door, an electrical problem, plumbing, they were always coming with this excuse that this is not wear and tear and it is not covered. This made me decide to cancel my contract with American Home Shield. I also have five accounts with them and I cancelled all of them.
I apologize for your experience with American Home Shield and understand the disappointment and frustration you're feeling. It's concerning that you've faced issues regarding coverage and service not meeting expectations, leading you to cancel your contracts. We would appreciate an opportunity to discuss your experience further and work towards resolving the issues you've encountered. The main issue we had was that the technicians from American Home Shield came out and then said they gotta come back. They had the part needed but couldn't fix it the day they came. They said they would call us the next day to schedule the maintenance, but it ended up being about three days later before we finally got a call to schedule it. That delay in communication was our primary concern, especially since the work involved a necessary replacement.

Submitting a claim through American Home Shield was easy. I called, and they called me back with the schedule for a repairman to come. The last claim I submitted was for the icemaker in my refrigerator. The technician came the first time and thought that it was just because ithad frozen up. But after he got the ice out and put it back together, it never made ice. It only shot out maybe two that were in there. And I don’t know if that was left from being in there. And then it started leaking all over the floor again. So, the technician told me he was gonna have to go get a part, and that’ll fix it. He’s gonna bring it next week. So, we’ll have to wait and see if that gets fixed.

American Home Shield is a good idea to use just to have peace of mind. Especially on a used house, you never know when something’s gonna fail or break, and it’s out of warranty. And their service is easy. Even when I got my washer replaced, that was an easy process. They basically took me to a website, and I could pick a washer and dryer for $0. If I wanted something nicer, I could pay the extra, and it just showed me $50 or $100.
My recent claim was for my broken water heater, and they sent High Priority Plumbing out. I submitted the claim through the website, and then I had to pay a $125 co-pay. And then I got a text and an email saying that they would contact me within 24 hours, which they did in seven or eight hours. And they set an appointment to come out. That was on a Friday, and then they came out on Tuesday, the following week. Then they went, and they realized that they needed a new water heater, which I could have told them in the first place. And then they came out the following Friday. So, the whole thing took a week, but I don’t think that was their fault.
The same guy came out both times. I wasn’t there on Tuesday. My friend was. But I was there the day he did the replacement, and he was nice and cool. And we chatted for a while. So, for this water heater, I had to pay $125 for them to come out, and then I had to pay $600 for the code upgrade. So, I still had to pay some money, but that’s the contract I signed.
I’ve had AHS for 30 years, whenever I bought my first house. My mom was a Realtor, and she said it was a great idea because my first house was 30 years old. So, they did okay. It’s just that the price keeps going up. It was $30 when I started. And now, it’s 125. It's gone up every year or every month.
But it's paid off because on this house, I've had to replace the furnace and the washer and dryer. And on a different house, a water heater. And so, it's peace of mind. But I'm about to sell this house, so I won't have to be using them anymore. Because I built a house, and I don't have a mortgage.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and for your continued trust in us over the years. We’re delighted to hear that our service has offered you peace of mind, especially given your valued familiarity as a long-time customer. It’s wonderful to know your claim process went smoothly, and that the contractor made a positive impression.
We understand the importance of affordability and apologize for the increased costs you’ve observed. While certain charges such as code upgrades are sometimes necessary, we are committed to consistently providing the value and protection you seek through our coverage options.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 17 or 18 years. My recent claim was with my appliance, where they sent California Appliance Repair out. And two repairmen came at one month interval. And this time, we went about one or two days over a month of the period because we couldn’t reach anybody. And they still satisfied the second call even though it was two days late.
The first repairman was rude. He didn’t wait for me to be there to explain what he found. He just exited and said it was just lint. So, I called them after a month because they didn’t do anything. And the second repairman was good. It took him about 20 minutes to find what it was. It was a blown fuse, which was the last thing that he disassembled to get.

Texas HVAC sent us the invoice, and we’ve called American Home Shield four times to review it with them, but they’d say they haven't received an invoice. But it’s a good company. It's not bad. My AC wasn’t working, and it turned out the fan had a loose bolt. It came off of its mount and wrecked the fan and the housing. The tech did good work and was pleasant and knowledgeable. It was unfortunate that it took so long to get the parts, but luckily, we managed to get through it. Now it seems to be working fine.
When I first signed up with American Home Shield four and a half years ago, the price was $48 a month. It went up to $54 and then to $80. Now they told me it’s $140 a month. Because of that, I’m just about to cancel my warranty with them. I didn’t cancel it yet because I knew the fan in the AC was making noise and the house wasn’t heating like it should.
Back in February, someone came out for the AC and told me that I had dirty filters, but I didn’t. They said they couldn’t do anything about the fan noise until the fan actually stopped working. I stayed on for four months with American Home Shield after that. I called again in June because the fan finally broke and had to pay a second charge. I knew back in February that the fan was failing. I paid them $500 that time. I probably could have just gotten the thing repaired myself and not paid them that money, but I didn’t know how serious the repair would be. Now that that’s fixed and I don’t have anything else that’s problematic, I’ll be canceling, unless there's a price adjustment. If I go four months without paying them, I’ll already have $500 or $600, which I can use for repairs.
I apologize for the challenges you've faced and appreciate your honest feedback about the issues with our services, particularly the price increase and repair delays. We aim to provide consistent quality, and your experience indicates room for improvement. I deeply regret any inconvenience caused and am eager to find a resolution for you. Please provide us with the opportunity to discuss these issues, hoping to better address your concerns. Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance our service experience.

American Home Shield was terrible and so was the contractor. I will not be continuing with American Home Shield. I’ve used them before and it’s never been this difficult. I talked to six different people every time I called, and I never got what I needed in a timely fashion. Every staff member has a heavy accent, and I can’t understand anything that comes out their mouth. It takes forever to get somebody to escalate an issue. I’m still waiting for a manager to call me back. I asked in the beginning July and never got the manager to call me back. The supervisor, he barely called me back. I had to go on social media and give a bad review for somebody to contact me. They raised my yearly rate, and I can’t understand why. The customer service is worse than it was when I originally signed up with them.
My situation with my AC is not completely rectified. Three different people came out. The first time, they needed to come back. The second time, the initial problem somewhat was resolved, but the person did not close out the ticket. My AC died again two weeks later. Other things I needed repaired were taken care of in a timely fashion, but this is AC in the summer time. I told them it’s an emergency as I have my 93-year-old mother in the home. We have no AC, both bottom and top. American Home Shield said they couldn’t send anybody out until they get some sort of authorization and they need to close the ticket. There was an issue with the date, and they needed to verify it. They couldn’t reach the contractor. I called, and the contractor is not responding either. Nobody is doing anything.
I had to wait three days and had to put my mother in a hotel. They finally did it as an expedited service request. They tried to get somebody out in 24 to 48 hours, but the contractor was not responding. I asked them if I can just get another company because I didn’t like their service. It’s still ongoing, and they're still not responding. I don’t trust the contractor. I would never have them do anything to any appliance in my home. And if I can’t get ahold of American Home Shield when there’s a problem, their customer service is awful, then I’ll never use them.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I’ve used American Home Shield for four years. Most recently, they came out and fixed my kitchen sink. It had a leak under the drain and the faucet had come completely loose at the top. And he tightened it up.
Submitting a claim online is very easy. The contractor has been very good. They reach out to me and work with me to schedule a date, they send me notice when he’s coming.
They put new gaskets on the drain line. They didn’t have to replace any parts. He found where it had been, it was leaking underneath. Then he used his wrench and tightened the faucet. He took it all apart and made the handle proper and everything too. He did a pretty good job.
I live in New Oxford, Pennsylvania and they assigned it to someone who also lives in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. He is probably really busy taking care of people. The electricians are always in demand. When I called him, he said he hadn’t accepted the call, he doesn’t know why it was assigned to him. They’re getting ready to reassign it to someone else but there wasn’t a way to go on their website.
I went through their menu and talked with someone and went clicking. It was relatively quick. They responded and did exactly what she was going to do. She said I’ll get this over to customer service. They’ll get it reassigned to someone. And that’s been about two weeks. I checked this morning and it had gotten over to customer service and pending assignment to a contractor.

We’ve had the protection for about two years. We bought a home that was built in 1998 and it is still using its original furnace and water heater. We were anticipating that those major appliances would likely need to be replaced in short order.
We submitted a claim through the AHS website which was very intuitive and easy. The contractor who came out seemed competent and very polite. I was happy with his work.
The handle on our microwave was broken, and a vent duct that directs air from the microwave to the front was also broken. They came out and took a look at it, ordered the parts and got back to me a couple of weeks later to let me know the parts had arrived.
They said AHS didn’t approve the expense of the duct, the little plastic duct that redirects the exhaust from the microwave and only the handle. They replaced the handle and did a sort of a MacGyvery repair on the duct, the old one. They taped it in place with some aluminum tape. Everything is functioning now.
I’ve used it twice and both times I’m satisfied with the results. The improvement I’d suggest is speeding up the process from inspect to repair. For example, with the microwave, I already knew the handle was broken. I didn’t need a professional to confirm that. It would be better if they could order the part and come out ready to fix it right away, instead of inspecting first and then waiting two weeks for the repair.

We submitted a claim through American Home Shield because the electric lights outside our house weren’t working. I filed the claim online. Fix It Inc. was supposed to come out on a Tuesday, and I stayed home all day waiting. They didn’t show up. I assumed they weren’t coming and was getting ready to call American Home Shield when the technician randomly showed up the next day, on Wednesday. I told him he was supposed to be there the day before, and he said he wouldn’t know anything about that.
He didn’t do anything other than check that there was power going to the fixtures. He said they don’t fix lights or fixtures, and that the fixtures themselves were broken. The coverage came with the house when we bought it, so I think it depends on the coverage you have. We’ve only had it for about a month. Since we didn't pay for it, we really don't care. I don’t think it’s a good service or worth the money since they can't actually do anything. If something really happened, like if our air conditioning went out, they'll probably say they don't really fix the air conditioner and just tell us what's wrong with it.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

My air conditioner stopped working, so I called American Home Shield and put in a claim. They sent out a technician from Top Line Heating and Air. When he got there, he discovered that my unit in the backyard had almost been stolen. Because of that, he couldn’t repair it or properly diagnose it. He took pictures and turned everything in to American Home Shield, explaining that the unit was inoperable. He did an excellent job given the situation.
After that, American Home Shield called me and gave me two options. I could either accept a buyout of $3,500 or use the same company that inspected it to move forward. I didn't want to use the technician that was there. It was 106 degrees, and I wanted some air. I decided to take the buyout and go on my own. That's why I want to stay with American Home Shield. They always come through for me.

We noticed a bubble in our ceiling and wall that looked like water damage, like something might have been leaking in the attic, so I filed a claim with AHS. They sent A&M Plumbing out, and they went up and cut part of the wall away, but they could never find the source of the leak. Now we’re just waiting for the patch people to come out. They only patch up the drywall, though, so we have to pay out-of-pocket for another person to come and do the paint and texture.
As far as people go, they’ve always been very polite, but if you have issues with water, they’re just not gonna cover it. We have the platinum option, it’s not cheap, and I really thought it would give us more coverage than it does. They basically covered the least amount possible without it being a fraud. I had American Home Shield many years ago and the service was good, but I stopped using them for a while. I just recently called them up again about 10 weeks ago to get back on the plan. My house is getting older, my furnace is more than 25 years old, and my water tank is 13, so I just want a little protection.
I had a problem with my AC and they sent me a very incompetent guy that diagnosed it wrong. He said there was some blockage, but the unit is outside and there’s air all around. His diagnosis was just so off. Everybody else would say it was a compressor, but my neighbor is an electrician and he fixed it within a half hour. He said it was just a switch. He was working at the same place they were looking and testing, but they couldn't find it.
I also think the guy had a nasty attitude. I follow Jesus Christ and I support Israel, and I have Israel flags in front of my house. I just think he had something against my religion. I called up American Home Shield and told them I wanted my service fee back because they didn’t really diagnose it right. They said I was going to get my $125 within five to seven days, but as of yesterday, the money still wasn’t there. I still recommend them, but they really have to screen whoever the technicians are.

I put a service call in for my dishwasher back on July 2nd. I would turn it on and it would count down like it was doing something, but you couldn't hear a thing inside. American Home Shield assigned Sears, and then I got a phone call from an AI guy at Sears saying it knew what parts I needed and was going to order them. The parts arrived within a week, but nobody ever showed up. I’ve taken three days off of work to sit here, because you gotta be there all day.
A guy finally came out and put both parts in, but after he left, I turned it on and nothing happened. I called American Home Shield again, and they said someone was going to do a virtual call with me. I took another day off and waited at home, but nobody ever called. I finally asked for the escalation department, and they got me a different shop, LT Appliance Repairs. They came out on August 5th, did some diagnostics, and determined it’s actually the motor pump. I got an email saying the parts have been ordered, and as soon as the repair place gets them, they’ll call me to set up a time to put them in. Being almost a month and a half without a dishwasher is just horrible.
A couple of weeks before that, my air conditioner went out too. It ended up being the compressor, and the technician said American Home Shield decided to just get me a new unit. He said it was going to be like $6,500 total, but I was going to have to pay $4,600 of that. I wasn’t very happy because the contract says they’ll cover up to $5,000. I’ve talked to probably everybody that works at American Home Shield from being on the phone with them 55 times. After this dishwasher thing is done, I’m not really sure I’m going to keep this policy.

I had a claim for my AC, and All American came out. So, what happened was my AC went out around midnight on the 22nd. And the 24th was the first available time that they had to come out there. And it was hot and inconvenient. And the guy came out and diagnosed it as the condensation pump had stopped working.
And so, he had to go through the approval process with American Home Shield, and if they didn’t have the pump in stock, he was gonna have to get it, and then he was gonna come out and replace it. But the earliest that they could get to me was August 1st, and the timeline just didn’t work at all.
And so, I actually called the original company that I had bought my HVAC system from, and they were able to install a whole brand-new unit upstairs and down the day before the other company could actually come out. So, on July 31st, I just put in a whole brand-new system.
My unit was 24 years old, and so if it could be fixed quickly, it would make sense to do that first. But All American was ridiculous. From the time I called, if I had gone through the entire process, the whole process would have taken from the 22nd of July to the 1st of August. And it was 95 degrees every day during that time, so I had to live in a hotel for a few days.
All American wasn’t able to do it any quicker than they did, which I understand, because this is the peak time of the year for these guys to be doing their stuff, but they just couldn’t handle me any faster than they were. And so, I just pulled the trigger on a new unit and moved on.
The timing is the problem with AHS. There are other things from time to time that may pop up that need to be tended to quickly. But when you're in a situation on the other side of the coin, where you can wait, I think it's a good thing.
And there's another part, too, and this is not just a problem with American Home Shield or All American Services, but it's very helpful to talk to people. And what happens is that I never talked to anybody at All American. It was all done by text. They do their stuff by text. But you want to have somebody on the other line that you know is working on your stuff and that you're a priority, and that needs to get done as fast as possible, or if you have questions. The only person I ever spoke to from All American was the guy who came to my house. I never spoke to a single soul at their office or whatever, because it was all done by phone or by the internet.
But it was still helpful in a way. Because my system went out at around midnight, and so I just got on the internet and went through the process of doing the whole repair request at that time online at 1 o'clock in the morning. So, the humanity in business is disappearing at a rapid rate, and that's not necessarily a good thing.
Warm regards,
Marc

So what does my warranty cover? I feel like the only thing it covers is American Home Shield calling somebody to come out and do more work. I can do that myself. I don’t need to pay $120 for someone else to make that phone call.
Other than that, the guys they sent out to do my air conditioning in the past were horrible. I can’t even believe somebody would do business with that company.

My dishwasher wasn’t operating right. The heat-dry was working, but the water wasn't getting hot. American Home Shield sent Atria Service Appliances to come out and check it. He was polite, ordered the part, came back, replaced it, and now it works. He came out the same day I submitted the claim, but it took a week to complete the repair. But they did have to order a part, and it all happened within the time frame they said, so everything went perfectly.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for 14 years and we’ve never had a problem with the service. They've been taking care of us, so I don't have any complaints. Our hot water heater wasn't staying hot, and American Home Shield was quick to respond after we called in the claim, so didn't take long for the technician to get here. I had somebody else at home to oversee the repair because I was at work, and he called me after he did the service. He said he did a little work on the burner, cleaned it, and it was running fine. So, he did a good job because we haven’t had any problems since.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We truly appreciate your continued support and your trust in our services.

DO NOT PURCHASE AHS WARRANTY. I have a dryer that has been burning my clothes for OVER 2 years. They have sent out techs that are not certified or qualified. They have replaced every part multiple times in the dryer and it still burns my clothes (Electrolux Dryer). I have had enough. I have tried to follow the process and play by their crazy rules for years. Last week had to buy a new dryer before my house burned down. I called AHS and they told me 1) they do not have managers that are trained to help customers. 2) They cannot provide records on the service calls. I have to go to each repair company and do it myself. 3) They read from a script and they always tell me "they must follow the process." But the process is broken just like my dryer. I also for over 1 year have a Thermador gas stove that will turn on by itself. Yes... An open flame. They again told me they cannot not do anything to help me, that the stove is fine. What?

In 2022 I became an American Home Shield (AHS) client. Initially, the service provided was good. Over the last couple of years, the service has degraded substantially and my warranty plan cost has increased. Lately, they have been unable to locate a service pro for my service requests. They are slow in finding a service pro and after two weeks advise me that they are unable to find someone to do the repairs.
In addition, each time I called, the service representatives would tell me something different. When I called AHS, after waiting 8 days after I submitted the service request, the representative advised me that if they had not identified a repair person in two days, I will be able to get one myself. Here it is, two days later, and the representative is now telling me that they just reached out to service pros and now I have to wait until they respond. I can't get my own service pro. I am currently on hold to speak to the escalation team (10 minutes). I requested to speak to management and they told me they would have to put in a ticket and management will reach out to me in two to three business days. Buyer beware!

I had three appliances that gave me problems and the techs that AHS sent out were able to fix all three. My first claim was for my dishwasher and it took them around a week before they sent somebody out. And during that week, my microwave gave out. I was glad because since they were late, I was able to tell them about the two appliances and they only charged me the $100 service fee to cover both those appliances.
The first time they came out for the microwave, they put a part in and it blew as soon as they turned it on. I ended up getting a replacement but American Home Shield waited for about four weeks before finally resolving my claim. They kept on saying they didn't get the report from the appliance company, so it was a good month before they actually did anything for the microwave and I had to call several times for that one. My last claim was for the icemaker and like the my first two claims for the dishwasher and microwave, the service was done by Refrigerator Appliance Services. They were pretty good. Aside from that, I like American Home Shield's $30 rate and I'm wondering how much the monthly rate is going to go up after my one year.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're pleased to hear that our technicians successfully addressed the issues with your appliances after some initial delays. We always have to call them back, click through the automatic answering service, wait to speak to a human, explain the problem, only to be told they will look into the problem/email someone, and call us back. I can not count the amount of hours we have spent trying to get them to follow through with the claim. Last night they hung up on my husband. We have been without a washer for 2 months and there is no end in sight. I have begged for help from people in every department.
We have been in touch with the escalation department numerous times (they are who hung up on us). I finally got in touch with the Member Resolution Team where I planned to cancel our warranty since we have spent hundreds of dollars, countless man hours, and still have no fixed washer. But Michael assured me he personally would solve it and call me back tomorrow morning. He never called me back. This is a scam business that takes your money every month and has no intention of ever helping you. Stay far away. We could have fixed the washer ourselves much faster and cheaper but now we feel stuck because we have spent so much money on the home warranty and if we choose a provider ourselves and pay for the repair we will just have lost so much money with this home warranty.

I am filing this complaint regarding American Home Shield (AHS) due to their failure to meet the service response time outlined in the contract, as well as poor customer service and lack of escalation support. My service request involved a water heater issue, which by AHS’s policy should be addressed within 24 to 48 hours. However, AHS was unable to dispatch a plumber within this timeframe, leaving me without hot water beyond the acceptable service window. When I contacted both customer service and the escalation department, I encountered unhelpful, dismissive, and unprofessional representatives who offered no meaningful solution or timeline for resolution.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable for a company that markets itself as a reliable home warranty provider. I am seeking: Prompt service resolution or reimbursement for hiring my own licensed plumber. An official explanation for the delay. A review of internal processes to ensure better accountability and professionalism. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Let me know if you want to include your policy number or specific dates for a stronger claim.

AHS sent out a contractor to fix a wobbly toilet. After they left, both bathroom toilets and the shower and bathtub started having sewage backup. I called to have the contractor come back out and they admitted they left an entire bag of trash in the toilet and flushed it into the sewer line. 3rd call out was the guest bathroom toilet was still not flushing. The plumber came out and basically told me that he didn't know what the problem was and good luck. I then started a load of laundry and the washer overflowed into the laundry room and the pantry.
Fourth call, was told that all the issues were just coincidence and that there was nothing they could do. All this due to a wobbly toilet. AHS then charged me another service fee due to not wanting the same company out to fix this issues. Seriously? This so called plumbing company has done enough damage to my home, why would I want them to come back? We have had AHS on our home for more than 15 years, but after this repair is done - so am I.

The repair guy looked at it and was here for about 15 minutes. The next thing I know, I called, and they said they denied the claim because it wasn't part of the stovetop, which it is. It's a key part of the stovetop. Most stovetops have a vent fan. A lot of them are over the oven. You turn it on. But this one is a down draft. It's got a pop-up thing in the back which sucks the smoke if you're cooking. It raises up behind the stovetop to vent.

I hoped getting American Home Shield was worth the praise I got from my father, whom encouraged me to get it for my house. I got the Gold Plan back in April. In Texas, our summers are ungodly. I noticed during the day in July, that the temps inside the house were going 80F plus in the day and cooling in the evening. Now having the policy, I filed a claim to have my AC checked with AHS. They sent a contractor, who determined the blower motor was defective (worked, but tested weak). Two days later, I check my app, nothing. Called back for info, turns out AHS wanted a price comparison for the simple repair and a full HVAC replacement. They wanted me to pay for an "upgrade" rather than a simple part repair at a cost of $3200. Not very cost-effective, since their own contractor determined the rest of the system was fine.
Called the contractor about why this wasn't a simple repair, was told they only requested the part for repair and not a full upgrade. I called AHS back the next day only to find out part of their work order got deleted on their end and nothing was done. Threatening to cancel my service, they dispatched another contractor for a "second opinion". They determined the same thing: defective blower motor. Waiting several more days, I checked my app. Being listed as another claim, it stated the repair was complete. Nothing was done. I've been in contact with AHS for nearing 3 weeks, getting the proverbial run around by several people in several departments, being assured they would get the matter resolved. They never did anything. I cancelled my policy today, they are now wanting to charge me 40 dollars for cancellation. I'm now getting the BBB and FTC involved in this matter.
What should have been a simple fix of which, according to their own policy, was covered, has turned into a 3 week ordeal. The Texas summer is unbearable and unforgiving...and thanks to AHS and their utter incompetence, my family continues to suffer unnecessarily. Do yourselves a favor: If you live in Texas and looking for a home warranty that covers your AC...avoid American Home Shield.

I am very disappointed in, frustrated with and angry with American Home Shield. I own a rental property in Southern AZ. I was notified by my property on Friday that the A/C was not operating property and that the temperature that day was 112°. I told her to contact AHS immediately. She did, via their automated system at the number that had been provided (and which does not appear anywhere on their website). She was told that the plan had expired. That was news to me because they were charging my credit card every month. Since it was late in the day on a Friday, it was 112° and my tenant is elderly, she should just get someone there ASAP and I would speak to AHS on Monday (today).
When I called them, they 1) said that even though I tell them to renew the policy every year, they change the policy number. I was totally unaware of this. The person she spoke with did not mention that, nor did they ask for an owner name or a property address to see if there was a policy in effect. 2) I received nothing from their customer service and "escalation" departments except lame excuses and useless apologies. 3) They told me that they would not reimburse me for for the cost of having to use someone else because I had used an unauthorized contractor even though my property manager was incorrectly told the plan had expired.
I have never heard of any type of insurance company that changes a policy number when a policy is renewed - not cancelled or expired and a new policy issued - renewed. In my opinion, this a very "odd" practice. I just consider myself fortunate that I was able to get someone to help my elderly tenant quickly and that the repair cost was minimal.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Terrible experience with American Home Shield (AHS). I purchased a home warranty for our Fire Island property after confirming with their sales rep that the location was covered. That turned out to be false. When our dishwasher broke, I filed a claim. AHS took days to assign a technician, then told me to wait at the house all day. No one showed. The contractor finally called at 4:30 PM to say he doesn’t service our area—and that this happens often with AHS.
I called AHS 24 times over two weeks. Their system makes it nearly impossible to reach a live person. Eventually, they admitted they don’t cover Fire Island and refunded the $135 service fee. I wasted hours on hold, got no help, and now have to pay out of pocket for repairs. AHS misrepresented their coverage and provided awful customer service. Avoid them.

I first raised a complaint in May 2025 and writing this review on August 9th, imagine how frustrating the last 4 months of summer I have been through. The call center is like an AI agent you go through the same exercise every time you call them (don't they make notes on the CRM) why waste unnecessary customer time. Here is the transcript of my more than 20 phone calls to American Homes Shield (summarised)....
What is the problem -- answer: ac not working. Did the technician come to your house what did he say ---- yes he came to my house said ac pipe is leaking and said he will file a report with American Home Shield. Yes we see the technician did not file the report, please hold for 3 minutes I will contact them. The vendor did not answer we will send him an email and call you back (the call back never happens. (This vendor is hopeless he never answers the calls nor does they return their voicemails) and I mentioned to every customer service representative I spoke during the past two months.
This is what is happening for two months and very, very frustrating. They would not assign a new vendor nor will they offer any other solution to mitigate the problem, and the air conditioning does not get repaired. This company seems to be playing games with their customers or they have hired EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL VENDORS. If we escalate the call to supervisor - the supervisor gives the same answers. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

The plumber did arrive and fixed the problem, for which we are grateful. However, I would not recommend purchasing AHS insurance.
When the first plumber they referred us to couldn’t come for two days (which would have meant two nights in a hotel for us), the representative said the referral could not be changed—even though the plumber was clearly unable to meet a reasonable timeline. The only reason we were eventually assigned a different plumber was because the original one canceled. While I appreciate the final resolution, the process was frustrating, and I believe customers should not have to rely on luck or cancellations to receive timely service.
Original Review: Called for a plumbing backup to house. We cannot use sinks, toilet, etc. First they assign us to a plumber who cannot come for 2 days. Then the assigned plumber cancels because they don’t work with sewers(???). So now we are in a seemingly endless hold cycle waiting to get assigned to a plumber who can hopefully come soon. Literally when we try to call them we are told the wait is to be 10-20 minutes but after 10 minutes they disconnect. This is our first time using (AHS), it has been horrible.

It’s been fine with American Home Shield. It's not too difficult to communicate with them, but sometimes I can't do it online. There's not enough spaces to put information. I would prefer to call, but sometimes I have a hard time finding the actual number to call. It's not prevalent. I've only had issues with a vendor that they sent out that I didn't care for. For the air conditioning, it was raining and it was an emergency. After the vendor was dispatched, they called and asked if we wanted to pay an extra $100 and they would send somebody out right away. The person they sent out didn't even really look at the AC. He said it was too old. We had to pay $200 to get nothing done. We called Airboss to come out and we paid them on our own. They were able to fix the air conditioning.
The washing machine’s transmission was broken and it was gonna cost more to repair than it would to buy a new one. AHS doesn't always replace it. They give you an amount. If they cost more, like when there was a dishwasher shortage back during COVID and dishwasher prices were extremely high, we had no choice but to buy a new one. What they gave us really didn't cover an equivalent. We had to fight to get more money, which still didn't cover it, but it helped.
We've been with American Home Shield since 2017. It was part of our home closing. We had to spend $600 because we had a credit and they weren't gonna give us the cash back. Our realtor offered us this option. I am not thrilled with the fact that we probably tripled our premium if not more every year. They think we're locked in that they can just keep upping it $300 and $400 every year. At some point, I’m gonna take the time and research other companies and not continue to pay the exorbitant pricing. If you need them, you could give them a shot and see how you like them. I’ve told people we use them, but I'm not gonna put myself out there saying that they're great.

Our realtor got us a year warranty through AHS as a gift. We have been having issues with our HVAC systems. One unit was very old. We were going to do their hvac update program... until we got the quote. We thought it sounded high (even with 2k off). We got a quote from the company that did our units at our previous house. OVER 3K LOWER! For our other unit I expressed concern with, the company said it needed cleaning and sprayed it down with my house. Something that the rain likely does.
We called another company on our own as things got worse over the weekend, I have 3 young children and the temps were awfully high (81 deg in the house). A tech comes out and actually did their job and noticed the unit had too much refrigerant that shut sown the capacitor. Nothing about this warranty program seems worth it to me. The people that come out to your house service you different because you're the "warranty people". It's like being the Medicaid of the home systems world. We were able to get a condensate pump replaced which was something so I added a star for that.
Their customer service is very friendly but at the same time will not be very helpful in a friendly manner. When I called over a weekend about emergency service to my hvac that stopped working 2 days after it was "fixed", they kindly didn't care as they could see it was fixed and operational after my service call 2 days ago. I'm thankful we were able to get someone out to us outside of using the warranty.

The contract said it would cover the boiler under heating and air. We had a technician come out that said it was not repairable and that was the end of that. The contract needs to clarify what kind of heat. I have aa water stove, which is a boiler. It wasn't very clear. So we spent $130 to have a technician come out for nothing. It's not really fair what happened. I'm ready to cancel.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was terrible. The outlet kept tripping and all the electrician said was that he couldn’t do anything about it. The only way to repair it was to replace the whole electrical unit for the whole home. There has to be another option but looks like it was his very first time or had very little experience so he had no idea. I ended up fixing it myself and I wasted $125.
The minor things I have submitted through them have been fine though. It’s just this latest one that left a sour taste in my mouth. Also, AHS should have more transparency on why things are not covered because with a lot of the things that go wrong, American Home Shield says they don’t cover.
Please know that we strive to partner with experienced service providers, and it's disappointing to learn your expectation wasn't met in this instance. We also appreciate your mentioning that whereas minor issues were addressed, there’s room for clear communication surrounding coverage limitations. If you need assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you again for your candid feedback.

Fixer Solutions pissed me off. They were supposed to come out to drain the septic tank really quickly. And they said they couldn't find the septic tank. The problem is when they first said they were gonna come out, they did a no-call no-show. And then when we rescheduled, they did a second no-call no-show. I took time off from work and I lost money on that.
And then when they finally came out, I spoke to the owner George. And George said that since they did a no-call no-show twice, they will take care of the charge which was not the truth. He never took care of the $450 charge. He submitted it to American Home Shield. They kept saying they never got a ticket from American Home Shield for the service.
I've had to escalate it to American Home Shield four times now just to get someone to come out. I finally got the Fixer to call me back and confirm that they have the ticket. I'm still waiting for them to call me to see when they can confirm the appointment. They said they'd be able to do it today. But unfortunately, I work 9:00 to 5:00. So, I asked them if we could do it on a weekend. And they said they would let me know. This has been ongoing for a month and everybody's kind of dropped the ball.
AHS has gone downhill in the seven years that I have been with them. When you call over there, you used to be able to get a supervisor if something happened. Now, everybody wants to try to fix it themselves, and they can't–they never do. They tell me they don't have the power to do it. And then escalation is supposed to call me back but never calls me back.
And the worst thing is they say they put notes in the system, but none of the people at American Home Shield ever read notes. I asked people to call me back after 5:00, after work, because I don't normally have time during work. But they don't read their notes ever.
I dug up my backyard and found the septic tank. I told them I don't need the camera anymore. We found the septic tank and we just need Fixer to come clean it. They said they’ll put that in the notes. But each time I call back, they keep telling me Fixer needs a camera.
I'm probably going to end up switching warranty companies because of the headaches I've had this year alone. I wasn't happy with this experience. I've had backups in my house, not because of the septic. And we got problems with our water heater as well, which they don't want to cover as well. That's $4,000 from us out of pocket. There has been a lot of problems this year with American Home Shield and I've been very stressed.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

At this point, I don’t even know what’s going on. They’re just guessing on how to fix it or which parts to replace. It’s 115 degrees in the Palm Springs area, and our refrigerator is not working properly. We got food poisoning three weeks ago. I even told them I was going to cancel, because if there’s no coverage, why have insurance or a warranty? Someone just convinced me to stay and said they’d give me a break in a couple of months or so.

And the guy came and checked it. And when he checked it, he said the air conditioner was gone. It was no good. It was old. And he had to call and find out if they would be able to give me a new one. I've had an American Home Shield for over 10 years. I have it because I don't know how to do repairs myself and I don't want to be surprised with a high cost of a repair that I wouldn't be able, otherwise, to afford.
My most recent claim was for my dishwasher. They came out and looked at my dishwasher and said it was fine. They looked at my dryer, it was a vent and had to clean that out. And then, they looked at my washer and I don’t remember what they replaced. But then, I had them come back because after the spin cycle, the clothes were still wet. You could squeeze out the water. And the basket that turned, it was moving from side to side. So they had to order a second part and they fixed that.
And the last time they repaired that, I told them that it was still the basket inside, it still moves a lot. But they said that that was normal, that I just have to put the clothes in evenly on our end. I don't know if it's because it's an older washer. But yeah, it still moves. But the clothes, the spin cycle are working better.
Their service is a lot better than before. The service that I like now is that I get text messages. So I can respond yes to the appointment or no. And before, I had to call and the wait times were very long. And I like the American Home Shield website where I can just request service online and, same thing, I don't have to call and wait on hold anymore.
Warm regards,

They were very nice, but the companies that they hire are not the best. I think they're the low bid because they are very not experienced. But if you call them again, then they send someone who's experienced. I had an issue with my toilet where I had to hold down the lever in order for it to flush. The man who came out was very nice but he left it the same. So I called him back and they did fix it that second time. They fixed my plumbing issue and I was satisfied.
I also paid for someone to come and look at my electrical. But I paid for nothing, really. He said, "Oh, your light's burned out. You need to replace the light bulb." But when I plugged in my appliance, like my hair dryer, it didn't work. So he said, "Oh, your switch is off. You need to turn the switch on. That's all you have to do." But now, it's not working again and I don't wanna pay another $150. That's my only complaint. American Home Shield is actually very strict about reimbursing you. I thought that they shouldn't have charged me for them to tell me I need a new light bulb. I'm 75 years old and I don't know that. He was here anyway looking at a plumbing issue, so I should not have been charged for that visit.

American Home Shield purchased my previous home warranty and I stuck with them. We’ve had a home warranty ever since we bought the house several years ago. I like the security and being able to get things handled typically in a timely manner. But there had been times when they tried to nickel and dime me, specifically related to pool equipment. In the past, they were not very cool about updating the pool equipment. They screwed us on one of them.
We recently had another claim for our pool and I didn’t have a problem with that. The issue was with an electrical thing with the box where they turn the pool equipment on and off. There are dials there. I don't know if it was bent, but our timer wasn't automatically turning on and off the electrical part of our pool. It was preventing us from being able to do that. I travel a lot for work and I needed to get this fixed because there are times when I'm not gonna be around to turn it on manually in the morning and evening.
The guy who came out checked it out and he was really nice. Before the visit, I texted him a picture of what the issue was. When he came, he had a little dial with him. He did his thing and changed the part. He got it done in a timely manner and he only had to come out here one time. Everything is fine now.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve had American Home Shield since January, and the first claim that I made was because I thought it was the roof. I told them that something was leaking inside the house, and they said it’s the roof. So, they came, they replaced it, but it wasn’t the roof at all.
I had to make another claim because something happened with the coil of the AC. And they said that they’re gonna come back, but they never showed up. I spent seven or eight days waiting. Then American Home Shield tried to contact them. They finally say they’re gonna send the report, but they never did. It was almost like nine days that I waited for them to show up.
And then the next day, I didn’t have AC at all. They came, and they replaced something. And then the next day, the pipes outside were all frozen. They came, they fixed it, and they said that it’s working, but it’s not that cold at all. So, I’m done with them because every time I contact them, for some reason, they never respond on time, or they always have something to say back.
But at my other houses back in Texas, I never had issues with them before. Last time, I had some issues with the plumbing, and they sent another company, and they showed up right away. So, I don’t think AHS is the issue, but they should be more careful. Because I call three times for the same reason, they’re gonna tell me that they’re gonna call me back, and they don’t call me. And then they're just giving me the same answer that they cannot do anything until the contractor sends the report. But that’s their job. They should have contacted them. But besides that, I don’t have an issue with them.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield. We appreciate your honest feedback and apologize for the inconvenience you faced during your recent interaction. It's concerning to know about the delays you experienced with your AC claim and the resultant complications.

I went online to request service for my oven, and it all worked out fine. Then nothing happened afterwards and I had to keep reaching out to them. The contractor didn’t do much. He looked at the oven and even though I told him what the error code that came up on the oven control board was, he dismissed that and said that the control board needs to be replaced. I looked it up online and the error code E2F3 indicates that it’s the temperature sensor, not the control panel. But he was adamant and said that they’ll have to order one and they’d get back with me. He didn’t get out any kind of testing meters, multimeter or anything to test the unit.
That’s when the circus began. I would get a notification from Sears saying they had ordered the parts, and I’d get a notification from American Home Shield saying the part was no longer available. Then Sears would send me a notification saying that part was no longer available, or that they were gonna schedule another appointment, and then they’d cancel it, and then they’d reschedule. That went on for about a month.
With regards to American Home Shield’s customer service, I could barely understand what the person on the other line was saying wherever they were located. I finally got to a supervisor after a month of calling and reaching out to them and he spoke really good English. But the rest of them were not good.
After contacting Home Shield repeatedly, they offered me a cash payout. So I took that and I fixed the oven myself by putting in a new temperature sensor. It works just fine. I don’t have much good to say about Sears or American Home Shield either because it took a month to resolve the situation. And they didn’t resolve it, I did.
But from what I hear from other people about these other home warranty companies is that they’re no better. Sounds like a complete rip-off. But I’ll give American Home Shield the benefit of the doubt.

The last guy did what needed to be done. He told me he needed to cut my wall but wasn’t responsible for putting my wall back, and I was fine with that. I told him I wanted only one or two of the sockets fixed. That was fine.
The lady from American Home Shield I spoke to was really the one who messed me up. She kept telling me I had to cut the walls myself ‘cause they won’t pay for this or that. She really pissed me off and screwed the whole thing.
Then she kept telling me they’ve ordered the parts, but I haven’t heard from the contractor since then. Nobody has called me about a part or if I still want it done. The contractor told me they had to cut the wall and will have to come back, but nobody else came back.

I called the warranty and told them all that but nothing was done. So, I just saved my money up and bought a whole new refrigerator, because I couldn’t go through that again. It was stressing me out.

I’ve had American Home Shield for a number of years and had problems, but they always got resolved. This time, my air conditioning went on the fritz, so they sent out Shamanski. He evaluated it, and it turned out to be a bad coil. The warranty paid $800 for the coil, but I had to pay $2,800 to make the new coil compatible with my old system.
In addition to that, which I did not appreciate, they sell me a policy and depending on what they’re reading, I get two different stories. I can go online and read the contract where it actually says they are responsible, but I was told that it applies to something else.
The technician also said that the warranty wanted to attach a new coil to an old condenser that’s 20 years old, but they both have to be replaced. American Home Shield didn’t want to hear anything about this. I’m still nowhere. They’re looking to grab my money and looking for a way out. They raised my premiums tremendously, but they don’t want to cover anything.
I happen to be an attorney. I’m looking at the contract and I was saying, “Why aren’t they paying?” I went up the chain and got nowhere. I actually asked to speak to the legal department, but they would not put me in touch.
American Home Shield has poor service. I actually switched to someone else for one year, but I got a company that was worse than them. So, I went back to American Home Shield.

American Home Shield’s service was great as far as scheduling, but they were not successful at getting the problem fixed. They made four attempts in one month and the issue was still ongoing. The whole thing is, my AC unit is on my second floor and the drainage is not flowing fast enough, so the water pan is getting overfull and dripping inside my master bedroom.
Everything works, but they want me to change my whole AC unit just ’cause of the water leak. The tech told me he could install a pump to push it out faster. I paid the 780 out of pocket, but the line was not able to reach outside. They reimbursed me my whole money, no question asked, but the last guy told me I had to replace the whole unit of the house in order for him to do the job.
All four times, it was the same technician that went out there. The supervisor promised me if United Air Temp could not do it, they would send a different contractor just to get a different evaluation, but that never happened. I just want different feedback from a different total company. We had a leak under the sink. The technician fixed the problem, but he was a little rude when he first came.
He wouldn’t allow me to explain what the problem was. He cut me off while I was trying to get my point across. My husband tried talking to him, and he was more receptive then. Everything is working fine now.
Were satisfied with American Home Shield, and we feel it’s a good service. They have good customer service. But I know my husband has complained because they’re based in another country. He said it’s sometimes hard to understand people. Overall, we're very satisfied. We’ve had it for many, many years.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's great to hear that you were pleased with the repair outcome and that you've had a generally satisfying experience with American Home Shield over the years. I had a refrigerator that was leaking water, and the ice maker not working. Since I wasn’t available, I scheduled the appointment with the contractor two weeks out.
The technicians replaced a part in the fridge and that fixed it. There was no more water leak, and the ice maker started working as well.
In terms of response and service, it’s been pretty good with American Home Shield. The sticking point is the monthly premium and the $100 service charge for every visit. But overall, I’m happy with them.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're pleased to hear that you found our service from the technician appointment to be smooth, and that we could successfully resolve the refrigerator and ice maker issues. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us maintain a high level of service. But they need to be more accommodating in certain situations or place a sense of urgency. I'm pretty frustrated with them and we're gonna be dropping them.

American Home Shield’s customer service is fine. But what I don't like about the warranty company as a whole is that they don't do follow-ups with you to make sure you're all set and see how everything went with the companies that they choose to hire for you. Second, I don't like the companies that they hire. They're hiring some cheap companies to come out and do the job. I'm definitely unsatisfied. I've dealt with two companies, one for plumbing and the other one for my appliances. The contractors lack communication and customer service. One company, Honest Appliance, was even rude.
Also, some things within the contract that I signed with American Home Shield need to change. I had an issue with the plumbing service and the company that they hired couldn't correct the problem. They couldn't do the job. I paid for the service for it not to be fixed by the company that they hired. The company told me that the issue was something that they didn’t do. They left me to take measures into my own hands and try to figure it out or pay out of pocket.
There was also a time when I thought something was related to the same thing but American Home Shield told me that it was different category. If you put in a request, plumbing is different from your appliances and appliance is different from your electrical work and stuff like that. The claim was in reference to my Jacuzzi tub. I wanted to have that looked at. I was told I had to put in another service request since that was different from my appliances. That was understandable.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We apologize for the challenges you faced regarding follow-through and the quality of service from our contractors. It's concerning to hear about your difficulties with the plumbing and appliance service, as well as the inconvenience of handling aspects personally. We're also sorry to learn that you encountered unexpected costs related to your jacuzzi tub issue. Please know we are committed to ensuring our services meet the high standards our customers expect. Even after paying their monthly service charge, you are still charged $125 service fee for anything that happens. I have had a clogged sink, which I was happy about the speed of that service. But that is not what this review is about. April 5th, 2025. Called about my fridge not being cold. AHS assigned me a Sears technician. First available appointment was April 25. Sears tech came out, took a look and said, "Yeah its broken". Scheduled the installation of a new compressor on May 9th. May 10th, fridge still not working. Sears scheduled to come back on May 27th. Never showed up, but scheduled a new compressor install for June 4th.
Now I have had some back and forth with AHS because I had a baby needing breastmilk and formula to be stored and it has already been 2 months of putting ice in a cooler, and they "escalated my concerns". On June 4th, the Sears tech had informed me that the fridge is damaged and they will not be able to service it further. On the AHS Dashboard this appointment was marked as "completed". At this point I bought a new fridge on June 11 because 2 months with no fridge in 2025 is crazy. For the next month AHS and Sears bounced me back and forth with no one knowing what to do and all of the call center agents reading their rebuttals from a script.
Finally I was scheduled for Sears to come back out on July 16th. No one showed up, because they know the fridge is broken. July 28th we are reassigned to Kasey appliances. They tell me they will tell AHS the fridge is broken because it is still sitting in my garage until I can get AHS to pay me out since the policy I have covers a new fridge. AHS tells me Kasey said that they want to refer the fridge back to Sears.
Now it is August 1st and they are sending another company out here to look at my fridge today. So I have to bring myself to writing a terrible review that I held off on for 4 months, and am reverting to scolding call center representatives to forward me to a supervisor or escalations so I can try to refund my policy. I did not want to do this, but AHS forced my hand.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

Kim

American Home Shield saved us some money since we moved in. They were efficient. We had an issue with our dryer not running a full cycle, and Astro Appliance was the assigned company. So, the guy came out, and he checked. But everything was running smoothly whenever he came and fixed it, but he had to have our vents cleaned before we turned it on. So we had the vents cleaned, came back out, and then a couple of days later, it stopped working again. So, we had the guys come back out again, and then something ended up being unplugged in the unit. But now, everything working.
I submitted the claim through my American Home Shield app, and it’s a quick process. The app was user-friendly. We just file whatever repair we need, and once we file what service we need, whether it’s HVAC or appliances, they set the service, and then we can call the service to set it up, or they’ll set it up for us. But because I’m a Realtor, I wish I could have a little bit more say in who’s coming to the home so I could do research on them rather than just take the company itself. I think it would be cool for consumers to be able to pick the company that they’re gonna have to their home.
But the appliance guy was great. The recent HVAC guy we had, I'm actually getting with the company because they ticked us off. So, we're working on that one right now.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from American Home Shield. Despite consistently making payments and following all necessary procedures, the issues with my home systems and appliances were never properly addressed. Unfortunately, the experience has been marked by poor customer service, repeated delays, and a lack of accountability. The contractors dispatched by AHS were often unqualified, unprofessional, and in many cases, unable to diagnose or fix the problems. Communication was inadequate, and it became clear that there was little to no oversight in the quality of work being done.
After multiple attempts to resolve my concerns through their support channels, I was left without results or reliable solutions. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid this company. It has been a costly and frustrating ordeal, and I do not recommend American Home Shield to anyone seeking reliable home warranty coverage.

If AHS ever saves you money, you’ll definitely pay for it in time. Everything is a fight and takes “escalating” the issue, often as much due to the choices of service providers as AHS itself. We had a bunch of requests and run around with our AC last summer and this summer has been worse. We started the process and first were told there was “just an air flow problem” which still means something is wrong because our house would still get up to 78 or higher with the AC running and set at 70. Two contractors in with no resolution and the AC completely froze up. Finally a third contractor came out, only after we greatly escalated the issue to client relations, and they told us not only was there a duct work issue but also an evap coil leak.
The technician himself said he thinks it’s unwise to replace just the evaporator coil - mismatching, hard to do, like “surgery” to bandaid an old and worn system. He recommended a replacement of at least the indoor part of the unit - at least initially. We hear from AHS later that not only did they claim that the technician did not find the duct work as in actual need of repair, but also quoted us for out of pocket cost for the evap coil leak. They are asking over $2700 dollars from us for “modifications” while what they’re covering is only $350. They offered to do cash in lieu for $850 but that’s a joke because the real recommendation - in writing - was a proper fix by replacing the unit. All this in addition to the fact that this all could have been cause by their delay in the first place because the first two technicians did not find an evap coil leak. It’s a mess and will likely require arbitration.
Meanwhile school starts back next week and our house is uninhabitable. They did reimburse some of the cost of portable units but the summer heat has the house - which cannot run the AC without freezing - still at 84 or above even with 3 portable units running. We are having to stay with family 2hrs away and may even have to incur more out pocket costs in order to be close to the kids school for the first day next week. Just this summer alone it’s now been almost 50 days without working AC. All that to say, the juice is entirely not worth the squeeze. Save your money and don’t drop it into the empty bucket that is AHS unless you have excessive amounts of time to make phone calls, fight for what they contractually owe, and not have items working for extended periods of time.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I’ve had AHS for several years and generally they have been good for little repairs, the contractors are subpar, but get it done. The beginning of July I called about my HVAC not cooling, I paid the $125 service fee and a few days later contractor came and added coolant, cleaned it and it worked good for a few days. I called back for a recall service and contractor checked it, said it was good and left, but still not working so I called again on July 28 for another recall, but now I’ve been waiting for the contractor to be assigned. Interestingly when I selected a new request and paid the $125 again AHS immediately assigned a contractor which is extremely wrong that if I pay again I can get a contractor but within the terms of the 30 day work guarantee no one gets assigned.
When I call AHS I get the same scripted response by the managers, "We can give you a status update but nothing more." The biggest frustration for me is they are good until you have a real problem and really need your service that you pay for to work, you don’t get the value of what is stated in your contract agreement. So here I am still waiting almost a month and no working HVAC. As a customer I paid based on the contract and feel my experience should be better when it’s time for a major system breakdown.

I have paid monthly for 5 years to American Home Shield, home warranty. I started with a monthly cost and that cost has gone up each year. This was my first request for service. I live in Arizona where the temperatures that week were between 112-118 degrees. I had to leave my home as it was too hot to remain in my home. The first part a capacitator was replaced. A week later it was not working and I was told it needed a compressor. I was told that I would not get a new compressor, as AHS uses refurbished compressors. I tried for one week to speak with a manager or supervisor to have them answer if I was getting a new or refurbished compressor.
I spoke with 10 customer service agents who had very strong accents that I had difficulty understanding, and who would not get a manager for me to speak with. During this time temperatures were 110-114 degrees. I asked the Air Conditioning Company they sent me how many times they have installed a new AC unit. Their reply, in 15 years of dealing with them, ZERO! My unit is older, I was told that did not matter when I was sold the plan. I was told I could upgrade which meant I could get a new unit if my unit was unrepairable, for close to 8,000 and AHS would pay 800.
The contract states they will pay up to 5,000 so be aware it can be $1 to $5,000 that they will honor. They have misrepresented what they pay for by protecting themselves with the fine print. The customer service agents can only reply by reading a script which has been probably been prepared for them by their legal department. I want to warn honest customers not to buy this plan. Your hard earned money you pay each month trusting that when you need this service it will be there for you is false. They don’t even care if you are in an emergency situation such as mine. Today is July 28, I filed my claim on July 7th. I am waiting for the (new) compressor to arrive so I can make arrangements to have it installed. Tomorrow it will be 114 degrees here in Az. I feel like I have been taken advantage of!!
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I recently sought the services of American Home Shield and had a varied experience. On one hand, I had a positive encounter with Doing All Plumbing, LLC, who fixed some backed-up pipes in my older home quite efficiently. The technician was friendly, prompt, and even provided helpful advice regarding further home plumbing upgrades.
On the digital front, the American Home Shield online portal was incredibly user-friendly, making the service request process straightforward and serving up a quick response. This aspect was definitely impressive and I can see recommending their web tools to others.
However, my ordeal with an air conditioning installation has been anything but pleasant. The installation, which was completed in November, remains far from acceptable. Despite having invested $13,000 into a brand-new system, it is still not functioning correctly, and communication with American Home Shield has ceased, which has left me frustrated and dissatisfied. This issue involved Front Door Pro, and there seem to be miscommunications between them and their subcontractors.
Considering the varying quality of service, I'd give American Home Shield a mixed review, rating their request set-up portal a 5-star, as it was remarkably effective. However, due to the unresolved but costly air conditioning situation, it dilutes my overall confidence in recommending them wholeheartedly. Their pricing remained competitive compared to others, which would receive a strong 4 or 5 rating, though this technical glitch is something I cannot overlook.

It wasn’t until recently that I encountered an issue with my home air conditioning unit and decided to reach out to American Home Shield. My decision stemmed from their capable support in previous encounters. This recent claim was processed through their app, which I found to be hassle-free. The online submission was a breeze, allowing for a seamless start to my request for service.
The contractor dispatched by American Home Shield was impressive; their professionalism, punctuality, and efficiency were commendable. They resolved my air conditioning issue without any fuss, which speaks highly of the standards maintained by the company. Since the repair was conducted, my AC has been performing perfectly, reaffirming the quality of service I received.
Upon reflection, I would rate my overall experience with American Home Shield as mostly positive. The customer service deserves accolades, scoring near the top due to their prompt and helpful assistance whether contacted via phone or app. However, in terms of what the warranty actually covers and its cost, there is room for improvement; I perceive the pricing on the higher side and wished for a more encompassing warranty scope. Marketing communications seem routine, marked by occasional promotional emails, standing at an adequate level without being pushy.
Overall, while nothing stands out as extraordinary, my interactions have been largely satisfactory. The convenience of their app streamlines service requests, making it effective in handling issues swiftly. Thus, I can characterize my experience with them as a generally good one, with reliable outcomes whenever I needed help.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

We reached out to American Home Shield when we faced an issue with our AC unit. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't as smooth as I'd hoped. The AC was running nonstop and failing to cool properly during the day. Although it was supposed to be set to 76 degrees, it often reached upwards of 82 degrees. We called Air City AC and Heating through American Home Shield. I was in contact with the technician over the phone since my wife was at home at the time.
The technician reported that our AC coil had an oily residue indicating a leak, suggesting a coil replacement. American Home Shield attempted to order a new coil, which was back-ordered or wrong, and the whole process stretched on for about three weeks. In the interim, I accepted a "cash in lieu" offer to expedite the situation. However, the cash didn’t cover the expenses I was quoted by a local contractor, leaving us with no real alternative.
When I enlisted a local technician I had known for years and he examined the unit, he found a different issue than what was initially reported. The coil was intact and full of refrigerant, but the problem was with the thermal expansion valve, which merely needed repair or replacement at a significantly lower cost than replacing the entire coil. I appreciated his troubleshooting; however, the process exposed errors from the technician referred by American Home Shield, whose incorrect assessment resulted in unnecessary expenses on our part.
In the end, we got the AC running thanks to our local technician, but I did have to pay out of pocket to resolve an issue that should have been addressed more efficiently and affordably.
As for my overall rating of American Home Shield's handling of the situation, I would give it a low score since they were unbending after realizing more was needed beyond their initial cash offer. It's in situations like these that more diligence is required in assessing the service providers assigned for repairs.
In all, while the issue finally got sorted, the initial missteps meant inconveniences along the way and unnecessary out-of-pocket expenses for us. Regarding future policies, it would be beneficial for American Home Shield to ensure accurate diagnostics from their service contractors to prevent the sort of problem we encountered.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I opted for American Home Shield due to its coverage. I've been with them for over a decade, mainly because they cover most items in the house, providing peace of mind. As a real estate attorney, I frequently recommend them to clients. Unfortunately, their response time can be quite slow.
For instance, when Climate Brothers came to address my air conditioning, it took a week for the repair appointment to happen. Although the technician was friendly, I'm still experiencing issues with my system. Moreover, a past issue with my stove lasted two months before it was resolved. While most problems eventually get fixed, it's not always a quick process.
I have found the company's customer service to be hit-or-miss. It's sometimes difficult to get someone on the phone, and the quality of technicians varies. On one occasion, an air conditioning technician spent considerable time and did a superb job but wasn't always available for return service.
Ultimately, I rate American Home Shield four out of five due to these inconsistencies but still consider them a viable option. While I wasn't reimbursed for parts I sourced myself in the past, the main benefit lies in coverage, even though patience might be needed for resolution.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

I reached out to American Home Shield about claims regarding my appliances. I submitted a claim online for a leaking fridge and a washing machine that wouldn't start. The process for claims submission was straightforward and user-friendly.
The interaction with A Go Home Appliance Repair was okay, though they did have to reschedule a couple of times and initially the issue wasn't resolved on their first visit. Fortunately, they returned for a follow-up visit, which was provided free of charge. However, they are still waiting on parts to complete the repair, so for now, everything is not fully functioning.
Reflecting on my experience with American Home Shield, there's a specific incident that impacted my overall impression. I was charged a $125 service fee for a repair that wasn't covered, which caught me off guard. Initially, I felt it was unfair to be charged for something they didn't cover, but after some negotiations and expressing my dissatisfaction, I managed to get a refund. Yet, such hurdles detract from a seamless service experience.
I've had protection from American Home Shield for about a year and a half to two years. The realization to secure coverage arose when I moved into a new house. With appliances getting older and experiencing failures, I deemed it prudent to have some safeguard. This plan provides peace of mind, understanding that not all issues will be covered, yet having that insurance-like buffer is reassuring.
If anyone were to ask me about my recommendation, I'd say American Home Shield is worthwhile; however, ensure that the specific elements that need coverage are actually protected. Customer service is commendable, deserving a 4 out of 5, though slight setbacks impair the rating from perfect. Nonetheless, their process to schedule service and the amiable customer service made interactions generally pleasant.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

Despite this, American Home Shield reported something different, ultimately denying my claim even though I had a prior inspection report. When I requested an alternative technician, they said no one was available locally, offering no further solutions apart from denial.
Frustrated, I attempted to cancel my account. They offered to refund the service fee and encouraged me to stay, stating they valued my business. Yet, no refund has been received, and I haven't even gotten an email confirmation as promised. If I don't see a refund in the next few days, I will be calling again to cancel.

I reached out to American Home Shield for a plumbing issue at home. It turned out to be a minor problem with a reset button, and while the service was efficient, in hindsight, I felt like it could have been resolved without a visit. The representative from American Home Shield was courteous, and the technician from T&C Plumbing didn't encounter any issues with their service.
However, I've experienced ongoing frustrations with American Home Shield in the past. There have been instances where I've had questions remain unanswered, despite being promised callbacks that never happened. One significant case involved my furnace—they originally claimed they'd cover the cost around an issue with an attic frame removal, but later reneged once the work was completed and the company left my house painted differently. I've since been left to deal with the aftermath, and customer support hasn't addressed this lapse satisfactorily.
The HVAC situation exacerbated my frustration. Following a previous visit, incorrect wiring from the furnace repair led to the air conditioning failing. This required another service call, incurring an unnecessary fee due to the faulty initial repair—something I voiced to American Home Shield without a reasonable outcome. My ongoing concern now is whether repeated furnace issues will mean more unexpected costs due to improper repairs not initially addressed correctly. While speaking to their customer service, I struggled to convey these concerns effectively, which added to the mounting frustrations.
Currently, I'm hesitant about future dealings with American Home Shield given these persistent issues, and unless service quality and handling improve, I'll have to consider alternatives. My score for them now would be quite low, driven by these repeat instances of unaddressed concerns and overall dissatisfaction.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I had an issue with my air conditioning unit. The first technician misdiagnosed the problem and claimed that parts were missing, which seemed odd. I was glad they sent someone else for a second opinion, and that technician identified the real issue — a faulty damper motor.
I refused to have the first company return, and American Home Shield assigned May Heating and Air for the second round. However, they hesitated to get involved, and the situation became a stressful back-and-forth mess with Customer Service, which compounded my frustration. Despite multiple calls and having my queries tirelessly dismissed, I eventually spoke to an escalations manager who informed me about a cash-out option. Based on this assurance, I hired another company to fix the issue on my own. To my dismay, American Home Shield backtracked on their promise, leaving me to cover the entire cost myself, which was very disappointing, especially as a loyal customer.
This wasn’t my first time escalating issues with them. It seems their tactic is to stall until customers resolve matters out of exasperation. Communicating with customer service was challenging, often requiring much repetition, and representatives were difficult to understand, adding to my impatience. Living for a month without air conditioning when it was over 100 degrees outside only heightened my dissatisfaction.
Overall, I've grown weary of their empty promises and inadequate service. Improvements are urgently needed in communication and consistency. If they pledge a service or reimbursement, they should stand by it—avoiding added expenses was why I trusted them in the first place. At this point, I'm exploring other warranty companies, as my confidence in American Home Shield has been thoroughly shaken.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

American Home Shield sent out Kevin, a technician from Sears, for the refrigerator repair. He was fantastic—very professional and seemed knowledgeable, which impressed my husband, a mechanical engineer. We’ve used AHS before and found Kevin to be the best we’ve had, unlike our previous issues with others.
The problem began when, despite Kevin’s diagnosis, no progress was made on repairing our KitchenAid refrigerator. We paused to consider whether to replace the refrigerator or have it repaired. Eventually, we decided on repair to match our other appliances. Yet, no updates have come regarding the status of the part orders and scheduling the necessary fix, leaving us stuck with a barely usable fridge.
Despite the inconvenience of having only one functioning refrigerator in the hot summer, and even an unfortunate bout of food poisoning, I've contacted AHS multiple times for follow-up, with little success or information on when services will resume. It’s frustrating and stressful as we rely on our garage unit, knowing it might also fail under the extended workload.
I'm not satisfied with American Home Shield right now, as even though Kevin did a great job during his visit, the lack of follow-up and communication has overshadowed his efforts. I appreciate the option to choose cash instead of the product exchange initially offered, but this ongoing delay makes it hard to manage. Dissatisfied with these circumstances, I’d rate my AHS experience poorly due to such inefficiencies.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I had issues with both my refrigerator and washing machine and my experience with American Home Shield was not very positive. A contractor named Scott was supposed to address problems with both appliances, stating the need to order parts. However, they never returned, and it took about two months before the claim was transferred to Steven's Appliance.
When Steven's Appliance came, the technician claimed nothing was wrong with the refrigerator—even though it was the bottom part that was malfunctioning—and suggested it was user error. When I got home, I found out the refrigerator had stopped working entirely. At that point, I had to manually set it so the freezer would keep operating to preserve what I had stored.
As for the washing machine, there was an issue with water leaking, which I noticed initially because water was coming out from under the machine, damaging my bathroom floor in the process. Despite this, the technician didn't seem to find anything wrong with it.
Given the back-and-forth and the lack of proper resolution, I had to resort to using the washing machine only for very small loads out of concern it could damage more flooring. The fridge remains partially dysfunctional.
If I were to rate American Home Shield, I'd give them a 2-star rating due to the lengthy and unresolved service experience that spanned from April to July. I'm of the belief that no customer should endure such delays, especially considering timely payment. I didn't feel there was any resolution, and I would caution friends and family about choosing American Home Shield, as one might end up very disappointed with the service outcome.

The whole claim process for my air conditioning issue was more than satisfactory—quick and easy, just as I'd hoped. Submitting the claim online was hassle-free, and scheduling with the contractor was a breeze. The contractor was great and managed to come in the same day to get the job done efficiently.
I rate my experience with American Home Shield quite highly, firmly giving them a 5 due to their consistency. The customer service has been equally stellar, deserving a top score as well. Their products and the extent of the coverage provided through the warranty receive high marks from me, although I feel that the overall price of the warranty could be more appealing.
Ease of use with their online tools and website also stands out positively. Overall, it's a solid service for those in need of dependable home warranties.

I temporarily left American Home Shield for a different company due to a significant hike in their premiums, soaring to $135 a month, which was beyond my budget. However, my experience there was unsatisfactory, so I happily returned to the dependable service of American Home Shield, where I've been a loyal customer since around 2010 or 2012.
When it comes to submitting claims for appliances, I find calling over the phone more reliable, especially given the inconsistent signals in my rural area that make using the app difficult. Every time I've called, the service has been excellent. The representatives on the phone have always been accommodating and efficient.
The technicians dispatched to my home have been consistently friendly and professional. They arrive on time, do their job diligently, make sure to clean up afterward, and maintain honesty and courtesy in all interactions—no complaints at all. The response time is also impressive, usually within 24 to 48 hours, which aligns with my expectations.
I've had a positive experience with American Home Shield, as they have continually met my needs with exemplary service.

My American Home Shield experience wasn't as smooth as I had hoped. Integrity Air was contacted for a repair, but it took them four visits to even come close to resolving the issue. I was left without air conditioning from June 28th to mid-July, which was incredibly challenging for me, especially since I'm a lung cancer patient and need a comfortable environment to breathe easily.
The first technician replaced the capacitor, something that had been done in previous years, which didn't resolve the issue. The second technician replaced the motherboard, and after a long wait for the part, the problem persisted. The subsequent visits were equally unproductive until the fourth technician, Eric, finally seemed to understand the issue. He identified that the compressor was failing, but without the system exhibiting the noise while he was present, he couldn't be absolutely sure. He suggested that the standalone unit I bought to cope with the situation may have inadvertently kept the system semi-functional.
The most disheartening part of the experience was the scheduling—appointments were mostly in the late afternoon in the intense heat, which was quite inconvenient. After dealing with this for over two weeks, I felt like I was losing confidence both in the service and in American Home Shield.
In hindsight, while the fourth technician did his best under challenging circumstances and eventually identified a potential issue with my system, the process up to that point was frustrating. It was a lengthy and draining experience, and as of now, I'm left cautiously optimistic that things will hold up.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

American Home Shield had a reputation for service coverage and over the course of my association with them, which has been around two and a half to three years, the experiences have been a mix of both positive and negative outcomes. Every spring and fall, I have my furnace and my air conditioner looked at. The contractor for my AC was bad. The AC was pitted, which means that it could just keep running or it could shut off any time. When the techs came out, they said that American Home Shield states that as long as the air conditioner is running, they won't do anything. I wasn't too pleased about it. On a positive note, whenever I've contacted AHS over the phone to set up service, their response time has been swift.
Not all my interactions have been seamless though. There was a memorable instance with my furnace maintenance during which the exhaust system had to be rechecked multiple times due to failed inspections. Moreover, the lack of cleanup from the service personnel left my furnace room in an untidy state with debris everywhere. Additionally, my initial experience with a malfunctioning dishwasher involved several follow-up visits and ended in disappointment, though they did offer compensation. The Fischer & Paykel model I favor still poses issues.
Further complicating my experiences, I encountered lengthy delays when repairing my microwave, which dragged on for over a year. In contrast, certain appliance services, like solving the water heater challenge, were managed promptly. These variabilities highlight both the strengths and weaknesses in the service.
In general, I value the insurance policy as a financial buffer since modern appliances tend to be costly, and service fees for technicians could drain budgets quickly. Paying $100 for a service call with American Home Shield feels reasonable in contrast. While my overall satisfaction resides around a middle ground rating, closer maybe to a 3-star experience, I'll continue my coverage due to its apparent economic benefits for major appliance repairs.

After just a few months of coverage with American Home Shield, I encountered an issue with my air conditioner. One morning, I discovered it wasn't working; the indoor unit seemed fine, but the outdoor unit had no power and was tripping the main breaker each time I attempted to turn it on.
Submitting the claim through their online chat was very easy, which made the initial process stress-free. Although I didn't receive much information about the contractor beforehand, they reached out promptly within an hour of the claim. The interaction with the contractor, Ackerman Heating & AC Inc, was straightforward, and they were communicative, although I couldn't recall specifics about the repair details, possibly a condenser or capacitor issue.
Unfortunately, the issue isn't completely resolved yet, as we're waiting on a part for the air conditioner. They estimated a couple of days for its arrival, but it's already been about three or four days, so that's a bit of a delay. Despite this, my overall impression of American Home Shield has been positive, mainly due to the efficiency of their service and how quickly things typically get resolved. I appreciate not having to cover the cost of a whole appliance outright, although there are minor charges not ordinarily covered.
If someone asked me about whether to use American Home Shield, I'd certainly recommend it, as my family's had good luck with their protection. The quick response and commitment to resolving issues are their strong suits, even if this wait for parts is a minor hiccup.
Ultimately, I've found their service rating worthy of approximately four stars in my book, mainly leaving room for potential improvements in coverage tweaks like minor uncovered charges, but very satisfied on the whole.

There was a notable situation I encountered with American Home Shield's chosen service provider, Hers & His Plumbing. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The technician from this company came out to evaluate an issue with my shower but proposed an unnecessary and costly solution, suggesting a significant wall removal that was said to cost an additional $1,000 beyond the initial service fee.
After being declined by American Home Shield for the service, based on this misdiagnosis, I sought out a new contractor. The second professional found that the problem was simply a clogged showerhead, easily remedied by unscrewing and rinsing out the filter at the shower head. It was resolved for much less than initially quoted, highlighting the misrepresentation from Hers & His Plumbing. I ended up getting a new showerhead for $15 from Home Depot, and it worked perfectly ever since.
While American Home Shield itself handled the case fairly to their extent, choosing the supplier seemed to reflect poorly on their selection process. Despite this ordeal, I maintain a positive opinion of American Home Shield, as they generally have a good reputation. However, there are areas for improvement, such as their response time and the fees relative to service. Waiting for about two days for a call back does hinder my rating to a bit lower than perfect. But I still appreciate American Home Shield and would rate their company overall quite highly. It’s just this specific encounter that underscores the need for vigilance in their contractor selections.

I had an electrical problem recently so I filed a claim, leading to Doctor Circuits Electrical technicians visiting my home. They tackled a wiring issue I’d been facing, efficiently addressing the problems. The technicians who arrived were quite proficient, resolving everything smoothly by the next day.
Despite the efficiency in this instance, I've noticed a bit of inconsistency in their service quality. While approximately 70% of the techs did a wonderful job, there were definitely occasions where I found myself bouncing between calls, trying to get someone competent on the property.
I’ve subscribed to their services for about three years. Yet, I'm leaning towards halting my membership since the annual fees subsequently increased to $95, a sum I'm struggling to justify, especially considering my infrequent usage. Given the $250 deductible each time, coupled with the annual expenditure, it seems financially prudent to devise a more economical alternative solution for repairs.
In previous scenarios, an admirable 5-star rating would’ve sufficed, though due to recent hikes and cost dissatisfaction, I now lean more towards a 3-star rating.

I had experiences with American Home Shield from about 10 years ago when their service was excellent. Back then, everything was taken care of within 24 to 48 hours, with quick repairs and replacements. However, my current experience has been drastically different.
Initially, I had a claim because my sink wouldn't drain. The process of submitting this claim online was straightforward, as the website is user-friendly. Unfortunately, getting the actual service has been frustrating. It seems like every repair takes an exorbitant amount of time, often more than a month. For instance, last summer, I was without air conditioning for a couple of weeks in August, which was extremely uncomfortable.
American Home Shield's process requires technicians to use specific parts provided by them, leading to unnecessary delays even when faster solutions could be applied. The service personnel frequently mention that they have parts available, but are constrained by American Home Shield's policies. This policy ended up causing long waiting periods for necessary parts.
I find the current situation unacceptable. I've paid for what I expected would be convenient service, but instead, I experience delays that lead me to believe I could handle repairs quicker myself. If a friend or family member asked, I'd have to be honest and say it may only be worth it if you can tolerate waiting several months for repairs for something like paying $150 to fix an issue. Overall, I'm deeply dissatisfied compared to my initial positive experience with this company.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

Updated on 08/26/2025: Unfortunately, my experience with American Home Shield only got worse after my initial review. They first denied coverage for my HVAC compressor based on an incomplete and questionable inspection. I requested a second opinion, which confirmed the issue was normal wear and tear. Something clearly covered under the policy. Still, AHS refused to take full responsibility.
.
After months of stalling, they offered me a $1,560 cash in lieu which I declined. I wasn’t asking for a handout. I simply wanted them to honor their own process and policy. But clearly, integrity is not part of their business model. I had no choice but to cancel my plan and file a formal complaint with the Ohio Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
I was a customer for a full year, paid every bill on time. But the moment I had an issue, holding their part of the bargain became impossible. This is how they treat me when something big went wrong. Don't believe they will treat you any differently. If you’re considering AHS for your home warranty; don’t. It’s a scam. When something serious breaks, they will ghost you. Your loyalty and payments mean nothing. If you are currently a paying customer, run. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had. If zero stars were an option, I wouldn’t hesitate.
Original Review: My HVAC system's compressor unexpectedly failed. Following my claim, Foxcroft HVAC and Refrigeration was sent over by American Home Shield. The technician didn't thoroughly inspect the unit and hastily concluded that a power surge was to blame, despite my house having surge protectors and no power outages at the time.
Additionally, the technician audaciously requested to use my phone to provide a 5-star review for his service. This behavior felt intrusive and unprofessional. After his visit, American Home Shield initially refused coverage, labeling it a power surge issue, which was not covered under their policy.
Unsatisfied, I requested a second opinion, confirming it was standard wear and tear. Although this should have guaranteed coverage, I was still asked to cover $2000 in non-covered fees due to the initial assessment. Negotiations for a fair resolution dragged on, with American Home Shield offering only $500 in compensation for repair costs between $2500–$5000.
After numerous discussions and a third professional opinion affirming the wear and tear, American Home Shield agreed to cover the issue, but I was still unexpectedly billed another $145 for undetermined out-of-pocket costs. To add insult to injury, a $125 service fee was charged for the third opinion, contrary to their initial claim of no extra charge.
Overall, I have been left without air conditioning for a month and find the entire process incredibly frustrating. Despite consistently paying my bills, American Home Shield has made securing repair coverage unnecessarily difficult. While their customer service representatives are polite and cautious, the company's flawed claims process diminishes the value of their service. While I am appreciative of the customer service interactions, I would only rate the overall experience unfavorably due to the myriad issues encountered.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

Though I generally initiate contact over the phone, it leads me straight to an automated system, which can be frustrating. Speaking with a non-native English speaker isn't always easy, and it's one drawback I’ve encountered.
Reflecting on my overall experience with American Home Shield, I would rate them a four out of five. Through it all, I've remained generally satisfied with what they offer.

I had three appliances in need of repair: my dryer producing a loud squeal, the washing machine shaking vigorously, and the oven not heating properly with a burned-out light. These problems arose simultaneously, leading to a hectic repair schedule. My experience with American Home Shield was less than satisfactory.
The repairmen visited on three separate occasions. The first technician couldn't resolve anything. The second one managed temporary fixes—the dryer initially seemed fine but started squealing again within hours, the washer's vibrating persisted, and the oven light he replaced blew out the next day. Furthermore, he never addressed the heating issue in the oven.
On the third visit, the same technician came back but once again failed to fix the dryer or check the washer. He claimed his office didn't provide a replacement light for the oven, and yet again, the oven's heating problem was left unexamined. Thus, none of the appliances were properly repaired.
I contacted American Home Shield right after the attempted repairs, speaking first to a lady and then Anderson, expecting a swift resolution. They informed me I would hear from the appliance replacement department within a few days, but instead, I only received a vague order confirmation from ATL Agile, the repair company, about parts being ordered with no further information.
Having used American Home Shield for over two decades, this frustrating experience wasn't new. In the past, I faced a massive incident when an air conditioning service led to significant damage, costing me around $140,000, which my insurance only partially covered, compelling me to undertake some repairs myself.
If I were to recommend a home warranty service, I'd confidently rate American Home Shield as one I wouldn't endorse. Their service repeatedly demonstrates a pattern of ineffective solutions and additional complications.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered with your appliances, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I recently encountered a problem with my air conditioner where the motor to the fan stopped working, causing it to stop blowing cold air. The technician sent by American Home Shield was professional, promptly addressed the issue, and made the necessary repairs in a timely manner, which I appreciated. The service on that occasion was efficient and resolved within the same day.
However, shortly after, I ran into another problem with my condensation pump, leading to water on the floor. I was a bit frustrated since this issue emerged just a week after the initial repair, yet I was required to pay an additional $100 service fee. Given the proximity of the problems and their related nature, I felt a discount would have been fair, rather than paying the full fee again. I think this is something that American Home Shield can improve on, especially when issues are related and occur closely in time.
Despite this, I am quite satisfied with the promptness in sending a technician when a claim is made, which is very reassuring. In terms of membership, I would love to see a discount for long-time members to make the service feel more rewarding over the years.

I dealt with American Home Shield because of a problem with our AC unit. The unit began making a loud noise, so we decided to file a claim. To do this, we simply called in; we've spoken to representatives in the past, which is straightforward. Though my husband handled this particular request, from previous experience, we've usually had the chance to talk directly with a person.
The contractor from Chadwell Comfort LLC came out to inspect our AC. I found him to be pleasant and professional, addressing any questions we had. The issue was with the fan blades hitting parts of the unit. The technician made some adjustments and put in a screw, which minimized the noise significantly; however, I wouldn't say it's performing better as it's an older model.
This wasn't our first claim with American Home Shield. Prior, we had a situation with a commercial-grade gas oven where they merely cleaned it since there wasn’t a dire issue. While we've not faced an instance requiring significant repairs or replacements, I'm skeptical about the value for money with their service. It does provide peace of mind, but over two claims, replacements weren't made.
What I appreciate most is the immediate responsiveness whenever we contact them—they send someone out quickly, which is a reassuring aspect. However, I'm wary of the support they'd provide if a more substantial replacement were necessary.
In terms of rating, I'd give customer service a 5 for their promptness and professionalism. However, for coverage and price, I'd rate them a 3. It feels costly to have them assess issues without tangible fixes or replacements.
Hi Shannon,
Thank you for reaching out to us through this platform. I'm glad to hear that Chadwell Comfort LLC was able to make some adjustments and that you found them pleasant and professional. We're always here when you need us in the future!Best,

I have relied on American Home Shield's appliance warranty services across multiple properties for over a decade. Unfortunately, my recent experience was far less than satisfactory. My refrigerator began having issues, initially shutting on and off, and I attempted to resolve this by submitting a claim with American Home Shield. The process of submitting a claim was fairly straightforward, though accessing their site was less intuitive than expected.
After the claim was submitted, a contractor from D&J Appliances INC was dispatched. The initial interaction was promising – the contractor arrived as scheduled and assessed the situation, determining that parts were needed. After a week, the parts came in, and the contractor returned, installing them. However, although the refrigerator lights indicated it was working, within a few hours, it became apparent that it wasn’t cooling as it should. The contractor informed me that the refrigerator could take six to eight hours to cool, but after three hours, it still showed no signs of improvement. Drinking from the water dispenser reinforced this as there was no water or ice.
When I followed up through text messages with D&J, they initially promised to return next week but later shifted the service date to nearly a month away without explanation, despite an earlier promise. This delay was problematic as I had no functional refrigerator from May through to when it finally got fixed. This situation forced me to look for and pay another company independently, after which American Home Shield would only offer a small service fee refund rather than cover my fully out-of-pocket expenses.
Despite escalating the issue to upper management within American Home Shield three times, I received no response or resolution. The lack of a sympathetic ear was especially disappointing because I expected them to cherish long-term customers like myself. What aggravated the situation further was that they seemed more intent on following a repetitive, scripted response than acknowledging the urgency of my situation.
Candidly, this particular ordeal leaves me very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. They failed both in communication and in practical action, exposing a disconcerting gap in handling calls efficiently, given their usual rapid engagement with contractor dispatching. One positive, however minimal, was at the start where communication and initial claim handling were swift and organized.
Unfortunately, as this packaging let extensive time and key concerns slide without substantial resolution, it has made me reconsider if I should continue relying on their warranties.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

This isn't my first frustrating ordeal. My prior experience involved a problematic stove during the holidays, which took over six months to resolve. This lack of urgency necessitated the purchase of an electric cooker just to manage during that time. Despite being a long-time customer, I only received assistance after threatening to terminate my contract. The situation with my microwave is similar; it's been repaired multiple times, which frustrates me considering its affordability on the market. And this is electrical. I don't think it should be repaired one, two, three times. Anything can happen. American Home Shield's repeated failures make me regret relying on them for peace of mind. When it's time to step up, they can't step up. As a client, I feel very disappointed.
Being a member of American Home Shield is expensive. In my eyes, saving for unexpected repairs might be more beneficial than holding a policy that falters when most needed. Not only has the service been unreliable, but the constant need to follow up with customer service also spurs thoughts of contract cancellation. Despite courteous interactions, the resolution pattern is inconsistent and I am left disheartened.
Each time you call, the customer service rep will tell you something different. All of them are very sweet. I'm customer service myself and I know what it means to give good service. They will tell you what they are trying to say, and that's it. And you call the next one hour, you have another person, it's the same story. That's the world we're living in and that's what they're paid to do. If I were to advise friends or family, I would suggest caution. There might be better ways to safeguard against household emergencies than trusting a service provider that doesn’t come through in critical times.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

When faced with a malfunctioning microwave relay, the technician sent by American Home Shield was polite and competent but, unfortunately, did not complete the repair on the first visit due to part unavailability. It eventually took over a week to get the microwave fixed, which required persistent effort on my part to expedite the process.
I encountered several issues throughout this service experience, beginning with communication from the assigned service company. They initially tried scheduling my appointment three days out, which wasn’t feasible for me; ultimately, they failed to show up or contact me during the agreed time slot. Moreover, attempting to reconnect and resolve this scheduling dilemma was met with challenges such as unresponsive lines and a lack of updates. Although the technician was eventually punctual and pleasant, the logistical hurdles surrounding acquiring needed parts cast a shadow over my perception of service efficiency.
Reflecting on previous issues with American Home Shield, such as slow responses for fixing a water heater, I realize similar patterns in the timeline and communication drawbacks demonstrate a lack of orchestrated service facilitation. With every repair request, there's consistently more follow-up required than anticipated, leading me to question the cost-effectiveness of keeping the policy beyond household appliance longevity concerns. While I recognize that technical competence lies with the dispatched technicians, seamless communication and timely service execution remain crucial factors for customer satisfaction.
The time limit behind the technicians getting here or communicating or the time to get everything fixed is a joke. Consequently, I’m contemplating whether it's more prudent to hire a local independent service provider directly, aiming at fairer cost management amid fewer bureaucratic interferences. My monthly fee keeps going up. So, I'm at the point now where I'm spending $1,400 a year. Then, they charge me $100 for the service when the technician comes. I asked the guy how much this would have cost me to get this fixed myself and it would have been $200. So, I'm just wasting my time.
I'm honestly thinking about canceling AHS but I got an air conditioning system that's old, and it is the only reason I'm keeping the service. After evaluating these aspects of my experiences with American Home Shield, I am left feeling that my expectations for the convenience promised by service warranties are rarely fulfilled satisfactorily.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

Our air conditioner was working for heat but not for cooling and when we reached out to American Home Shield, they connected us with United Home Air to diagnose and resolve the problem. United’s team determined that we needed to replace our system, which turned out to be quite an expense as repairs cost us nearly $5,000. Our unit was replaced and since then, we haven’t encountered any more issues with it.
The process of reaching out to American Home Shield was smooth. I first contacted them via phone, and thereafter was able to receive the necessary service through their setup which makes providing assistance convenient and direct. I even checked their website to request the service, but primarily relied on the phone for an immediate response.
When asked to rate the service experience overall, I’d give it five stars. However, in terms of the cost, I feel it could have been more economical, which is reflected in my decision to rate it a three. While I have not extensively used their website, the initial contact and quote setup via phone ensured efficient service delivery.
Overall, while the expense was significant, the effective solution to my air conditioning issue and the excellent customer service provided have left me satisfied with American Home Shield.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

I’ve had American Home Shield since I bought my home in October and I recently used their service to submit a claim for my refrigerator online. This turned out to be my second request on the same issue because I have yet to get a return call for a follow-up service.
When the technician first visited, he did try to fix the issue but couldn't fully resolve the problem as the freezer malfunction continued. The interaction with the technician was okay; however, I'm waiting for the promised return repair within four weeks, as initially stated.
One of the more troubling aspects was that my kitchen and refrigerator ended up soaking due to the significant water leakage. I had to clear everything and even noticed the repairman using my towels to clean. The overall experience remains a bit incomplete as the freezer remains unresolved.
Despite the attempt made by American Home Shield, I'd give them a rating of 3 based on this experience, as I'm not sure I would recommend them to friends just yet.

My son has had nothing but positive experiences with American Home Shield in various locations, including Las Vegas, Florida, and now in Tennessee. They've consistently provided excellent service, coming through and resolving issues promptly and the primary reason I chose them was because my son vouched for their service.
Recently, I experienced an issue with my all-in-one unit air conditioner. The thermostat in the bonus room was heating up more than it should have been. An AHS contractor inspected the unit and highlighted a communication issue between the thermostats, suggesting a problem within the wall connections. However, they mentioned they wouldn’t open the walls to check further, leaving me uncertain if another opinion might solve the problem more effectively.
I wasn't aware of the possibility of requesting a second opinion, but I plan to pursue that option for a more satisfactory resolution. Despite this hiccup, American Home Shield has always been prompt in addressing my needs. They've always been good since I've had them for a year or so.
If I were to provide advice to a friend or family member regarding American Home Shield, I’d assure them of the thoroughness with which they fix problems. Their reliability makes them a service worth having.

While on vacation, our AC failed, and my mother, who was looking after our cats, discovered this during a sweltering 94-degree day. We submitted a service request, and the technician arrived, but the interaction was disappointing, to say the least. The technician seemed unhelpful when I inquired about the $150 out-of-pocket cost for refrigerant, which wasn't covered fully under our warranty plan. Despite repeatedly questioning the breakdown of costs, the explanation provided was unclear. It seemed that the technician's attitude shifted positively when addressing my husband or my dad, which added to my frustration.
Moreover, once the job was done, we noticed wires hanging unsafely from the AC. I asked my husband about that, and he said the technician didn't tell him that. He just left it like that. Other than that, American Home Shield was great. I like how quick everything was, especially through the app. Though there was a delay in updating service progress in the app, which could be improved, I enjoyed their streamlined process.

When I bought my house in August of 2017, I had a free year of American Home Shield included with the house purchase. I continued it. The convenience of submitting a claim online is appreciated, but I often find the follow-through lacking, particularly with services like dishwasher repairs. The other people they use are great. But when they sent somebody from Sears to fix my dishwasher, it took them three times to go there when I specifically put on the notes that I know the motor is going out of my dishwasher. They don't read the service notes and sometimes don't show up as scheduled.
It cost too much money monthly to also have to pay a $75 fee every time something happens. I pay $120 a month. But every time somebody just has to come look at something, they charge me $75. My furnace and AC has the same problem every year for the last six years. AHS refuses to do a replacement on the condenser by itself. They're nitpicky. They take all my money and give me the shitty quality stuff in return.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Over the years, my experience with American Home Shield had been relatively smooth until a recent hiccup with my refrigerator. Initially, contacting them by phone was straightforward, but the process took an unexpected turn when Whirlpool didn't receive an email for repair, leaving me in a lurch without a follow-up call. It was frustrating to wait nearly two weeks for a resolution.
Reaching back to American Home Shield's customer service, the representative apologized and assured me that they would make arrangements. Eventually, they contacted All Star Appliance Repair, and I must say, All Star’s response was swift and effective. They called to inform me they were on the way and arrived within 20 minutes. The technician promptly identified and resolved the cooling issue with my refrigerator, and I've since had no problems.
However, I’d like to emphasize some concerns about American Home Shield's process. With my long-time trust in them, it's troubling to see potential gaps in managing service network partners and ensuring timely responses. Their method of selecting service providers needs scrutiny, as I’ve encountered attempts by some to apply unnecessary upgrades, which isn't reassuring. Consumers pay a monthly warranty expecting honest service, not upsells beyond the deductible.
While All Star's assistance was commendable, this wasn't the most pleasant experience with American Home Shield. Despite this, I maintain some faith due to my history with them but believe improvements are necessary. For the cost of services, I'm somewhat disappointed, feeling the value is modest relative to the hiccups experienced. As a customer for over 20 years, I hope American Home Shield addresses these issues.

However, I've noticed some issues with the technicians sent to my home. While some contractors are good, there have been instances where I've felt they were more interested in upselling services rather than submitting my claim properly. This was particularly frustrating when a contractor submitted a claim knowing it would be denied, and I had to request a second opinion from a different company, which eventually confirmed the coverage. I upgraded to American Home Shield’s highest plan, paying around $150 a month, expecting certain guarantees. To my disappointment, when my LG appliance needed a replacement, I was told it would be substituted with a GE product instead. This wasn’t aligned with what my contract had promised, which was to replace with the same brand if a fix wasn’t possible.
I expressed my concerns to their representative, but it seemed they weren’t too bothered. This situation makes me reconsider my options, and I’m now exploring other service providers. The switch from LG to GE affected my experience, as the GE appliance lacked a specific feature that I regularly used and needed. The option to take the monetary compensation and shop myself was there, but it was inconvenient given the additional installation costs and disposal concern for the old washer.
For context, I’ve been with American Home Shield for about 15-20 years without too many issues before now. As a realtor, I typically recommend warranty companies to my clients, but this incident left me dissatisfied. While I wouldn’t label American Home Shield as the worst, this situation made me rate them lower than I might have otherwise.

I've been with American Home Shield for at least four years, and while the warranty itself is decent and filing claims is fairly straightforward, I've encountered significant challenges with their service delivery. It often takes a considerable amount of time to get a technician out to address a claim. In many instances, up to two weeks might pass without any action taken on a filed claim, as they tend to switch contractors frequently.
For one particular claim with Budget AC, it took about two weeks overall from filing the claim to having someone actually come out. Initially, the claim passed through three different contractors before reaching Budget AC. Once Budget AC got involved, they scheduled a visit within two to three days, which was more efficient than the prior experiences.
While their warranty might be okay, the prolonged wait times and contractor changes have been quite frustrating, prompting a less than satisfactory experience overall.

The service simplifies everything, from the moment I submitted a claim via computer to the pleasant interactions I've had with contractors when they came to fix issues like our dishwasher, which was leaking previously.

Our air conditioning stopped working and contractors from KJ Heating and Air come out. They managed to fix the issue, but unfortunately, it only lasted for a few days before failing again. Impressively, they responded promptly and got it working again.
I typically request my wife to handle the submission of claims as she's more accustomed to dealing with them directly. In terms of the quality of the contractors, they've been quite good based on my experience.
I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield a 4 out of 5. While the contractors were effective, my largest concern was dealing with two very hot weekends, including one on the 4th of July, without any repair services available during that time. This was particularly challenging as I have chronic breathing issues, and my wife had just had surgery.
However, I appreciate having the safety net that American Home Shield provides. We've encountered problems, but knowing there's a backup is reassuring. When it comes to customer service and coverage, I'd give them a solid 4 out of 5. My dad used to have American Home Shield and I decided to give it a try. I've been with them for around 8 to 10 years. I'm a fan of paying for a little bit of insurance so you don't have to worry about any issues. My most recent experience involved an issue with my air conditioning unit. There was a pool of water near my basement air conditioner, which turned out to be due to a clogged drainpipe. The technicians from Maselli Contracting came out and fixed the problem by blowing it out and cleaning it, which solved the issue effectively. I very much like Maselli. They're an honest and good company.
I've had other experiences with American Home Shield in the past, such as a washing machine and dryer issue, and a faulty water heater. When my hot water heater failed, I chose to take a payout and handled the replacement myself since the repair timeline was too long for me to wait. I've also had a couple of instances where the dishwasher was unfixable, and they offered money to replace it. I like the flexibility of taking the payout to expedite the process rather than waiting for their contractor—this has been great.
I'd rate AHS' customer service a 5 as they are generally responsive and ultimately make sure a contractor is dispatched. However, they're not really an option for emergencies because the dispatch system might delay a resolution. For emergencies, I prefer to handle them directly with the contractors I trust. With Maselli particularly, because I have a relationship with them, I call them and they do their best to get here as soon as possible because we’re their customer as well as their Home Shield customer.
The coverage is pretty comprehensive, covering a broad range of issues in my home and when it comes to pricing, it provides peace of mind most times. Regarding their online tools, I rated them lower because I prefer speaking with representatives. One downside is not being able to choose a specific contractor using the online tools without making a call. Despite this minor inconvenience, I've been happy with AHS’ service overall and would continue recommending it.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

Since posting my review and getting the BBB the contractor finally came out and installed my new HVAC unit. However I was still charged $500 out of pocket for non covered costs. I feel like I should be reimbursed for these costs because I had to wait almost two months to have my AC replaced. Two months without any communication from the contractor, two months of nothing but the runaround from AHS (I have all my chat transcripts saved that I sent to the BBB). Yes I am thankful that my AC has been replaced, but I’m still upset about how I was treated throughout this whole process.
Original Review: July 26, 2025
On June 12, 2025, I sent in a service request to have my HVAC unit looked at because it was not functioning properly. The contractor came out in June 16th and said the condenser and evaporator coils both needed replaced. They sent the quote over to AHS and it was approved but I was supposed to pay $ 500 out of pocket for non-covered costs. I got a hold of AHS via chat to have someone explain what wasn’t covered. I was told my unit was being “modified”. I still don’t understand how replacing broken parts with new parts is modifying? But whatever. The technician ordered the parts. On June 23rd, I noticed on my AHS app it said service complete and another claim was canceled. So I contacted AHS via chat again and the agent said, "Don’t worry, the contractor has ordered the parts, they will arrive on June 27 and then they will reach out to set up the repair date."
The 27th comes and passes, I hear nothing. I wait a few days, and contract AHS via chat again on July 5th and was told by the chat they will email the contractor and wait for them to respond. Nothing. I contact AHS via chat again July 8th, was told the same thing. Finally, on July 10, I get a voicemail from the contractor stating they will be out to fix my HVAC unit on July 17th. That day comes and goes, they never show. I contacted AHS yet again via chat on July 21st, they emailed and call the contractor and get no response. I contact AHS again on the 22, 23, and 24, same thing they emailed and called the contractor, no response. I contact AHS today, July 25th and I’m told my service request was closed and there is nothing that can be done unless I pay another service fee. Even though the original issue was never resolved.
Then I get an email from the media department stating the contractor we be out at my house on July 29th, but they still expect the $500. Even though there has been nothing but no communication and nothing but being swept under the rug by both the them and AHS. All of this during an extreme heat wave with temperatures above 100 degrees every day. I had to take money I didn’t have and buy a window unit so me and my family wouldn’t suffer. Even then, it is still 85 degrees in my house. I’ve been a loyal customer and this is how they treat me when I finally ask for the service that I pay monthly for. They are a deceitful company.

I reached out to American Home Shield (AHS) because I was having issues with my AC during the heat of summer. Initially, they contracted a technician who diagnosed the problem as a faulty ECM motor. Strangely, AHS canceled that request and instead claimed the issue was with the gas furnace and said it needed to be replaced.
The first company they sent also wanted to do a ductwork reconfiguration, which would cost me an additional $1,600—completely out of pocket. I questioned this and was told I had the option to get a second opinion. I did exactly that, and the second company confirmed that the ductwork was fine and that the reconfiguration was unnecessary.
When I reported this to AHS, they offered me a cash-in-lieu payout, which took five days to process—only to come back with a lowball offer of $950. When I called to express my concern, I was met with rude and dismissive customer service reps who told me, "Take it or leave it. We’ve made our decision." Absolutely no empathy, urgency, or willingness to help someone suffering through summer heat without air conditioning. This experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. AHS seems more interested in minimizing their costs than honoring their service contracts or taking care of their customers. I feel completely let down and would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable and respectful service. Buyer beware!
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding your AC. I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. AHS understands the importance of having AC repair completed in a timely manner. I apologize that you do not agree with the cash in lieu offer and I am more than happy to reach out to you to discuss the matter further. Best Regards, American Home Shield

If I was allowed to do negative stars, I would. I ate $98.00 to cut ties with this company. I submitted a service request and after nearly a week, over an hour wasted on the phone from multiple calls, my washer is still broken with no answer in sight. Old Republic is the way to go. I would NEVER recommend AHS to anyone. What a nightmare!
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We hate to hear that you were not pleased with the service provided and that the issue with your washer was not resolved to your satisfaction. I would be happy to look into this matter further and discuss your concerns with you. If you would like to do so, please feel free to contact me directly at socialmedia@ahs.com. When responding, please include your consumer affairs review number for reference. I look forward to hearing from you.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for about five years. Whenever I run into issues, I usually reach out to them online. Their response time is impressive—very quick, actually. Recently, I had an issue with my Samsung refrigerator, which was forming ice balls on the interior back wall. Initially, the technician couldn't fix it during the first visit and had to order parts. They’ve been out about three times, and now Sears Appliance is supposed to take over. Despite some hiccups with the repair process, I still find their service dependable. I would rate my overall experience with American Home Shield at four stars.
Although I haven’t had a lot of direct contact with their customer service, the online interactions have been smooth, so I suppose I'd give them a solid rating. However, I'm a bit concerned about the pricing, which I'd rate around two or three stars, as I’ve noticed the prices have been going up.
Thank you for sharing your experience with AHS and the ease of coverage that we provide!
Thank you,
Mariah D.

The customer service at American Home Shield is very good, though we did encounter one less-than-perfect experience with a technician, but it all worked out in the end.
As a busy working mom, the convenience of managing everything online is extremely helpful. The integration with their new app has been a significant improvement in my experience. I also appreciate the frequent emails with updates and special offers. I've already recommended American Home Shield to others based on my experiences.
Hello Melissa!
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.
Thank you for being a valued warranty member with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is HORRIBLE!!! My refrigerator/ice maker stopped working in May!! 3 contractors and 3 months later still waiting on repairs!! Nothing but the runaround. The 3rd vendor looked at it on July 3rd and parts were not ordered until July 11th. Was suppose to arrive on the 18th? Still no parts or update as of the 23rd!! Customer service NONE!! Nothing but lies and the runaround. WHO should go 3 mouths in the summer without a refrigerator? Answer... An American home shield customer!! And by the way I've been a loyal customer since 2010. 15 years of them taking my monthly premiums and this is how I get treated!! SO before you think about purchasing this warranty think again and find a REAL warranty company, one with customer service and reputable contractors!! Angry and frustrated in South Park Pa.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Sadly, I've been faithfully paying for AHS for the better parts of two decades. Sadly, they ARE NOT what THEY USED TO BE! There was a time when, if you had an issue, it was resolved promptly and professionally. SADLY, THIS IS NOT THE CASE ANYMORE! Be prepared to wait weeks—or even months—to get your item repaired. And God forbid it needs to be replaced.
We filed a claim for our refrigerator on December 26, 2024. After entertaining four different repairmen over the course of five months, it wasn’t until the fifth technician finally declared the refrigerator unrepairable. Oh, by the way, PLEASE BE ADVISED... AHS deducted the cost of all five trips from my "settlement," totaling over $1,200. That left me with a measly $800 to replace a $3,500 Samsung Quad Door refrigerator.
Oh wait, why not take the buyout? SIMPLY PUT, IT WAS WORSE. They offered me $457.00 for the buyout. YES, it took six months to receive a virtual card worth $800 to use at Lowe’s for the replacement. Fast forward to July 8, 2025. We filed a claim for our AC unit. The technician came out, was very professional, and in my opinion provided an accurate diagnosis. After submitting the paperwork, I received an email from AHS stating: "Action Required."
I logged into my dashboard and saw a message saying I needed to pay $891 out of pocket to proceed. Naturally, I asked why. I was told that AHS only covers $10 per pound for Freon, when the going rate is closer to $90 per pound. A standard AC unit requires about 12 pounds—do the math. Now, that story alone is bad enough. However, it becomes more TERRIFYING! As of today, my family and I are still without a functioning central air system.
Thank God we were able to purchase a few freestanding units to keep parts of the house cool, but I digress. I messaged the technician to ask when they expected to return, since I had already approved the out-of-pocket cost and confirmed it with AHS. BY THE WAY, this approval is required before AHS will even order the parts needed to repair your system. The technician then told me that AHS had ordered the wrong coil for my AC unit. He tried contacting them for clarification but couldn’t reach anyone. He asked me to try. Of course, you all know how that went... NOT WELL!
The customer service rep could only tell me that they had “noted” my account for expediting. The soonest the part might be picked up by the technician?July 25, 2025 — a Friday. Assuming that happens, it’ll likely be another few days before I’m even scheduled. Best case scenario: I’ll have a working AC by August 1, 2025. Keep in mind—I filed this claim on July 8, 2025.
So yes, I know this was a lot—but do yourselves a favor and LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF PEOPLE LIKE ME. AHS IS BEYOND HORRIBLE, THEY ARE TERRIFYING! Please stay away—not just from them, but from all warranty companies. I refuse to even calculate how much money I’ve flushed down the toilet with this company over the years. However, July 29, 2025 will be my release date. I’m ending this EXTREMELY TOXIC RELATIONSHIP WITH AHS. I’ll be better served by putting my $65 per month into a maintenance savings account and handling repairs myself. PARTING SHOTS... AHS YOU ARE BAD ON SOOOO MANY LEVELS!
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Extremely disappointed with American Home Shield. I filed a service request claim after my wall heater stopped working unexpectedly, only to have it denied on the grounds of a "manufacturing defect"—something completely out of my control. I pay premiums expecting protection from sudden failures in my home, but instead, the company dodged responsibility by labeling the issue as a defect. If the failure had caused a fire or worse, I wonder if they would’ve found another excuse not to pay.
This experience has completely eroded my trust in AHS. If your home appliances fail due to no fault of your own, don’t expect much support. I’ll be switching providers and warning others to read every exclusion closely—because they’ll use any reason they can to deny coverage. Look elsewhere if you want real peace of mind.
Thank you for sharing your concerns, Nitesh. We understand that it can be upsetting when being informed that a repair issue is not covered by your home warranty, and we apologize for any inconvenience and frustration that you have experienced. I would be happy to contact you to discuss the matter further. Thank you for your patience.

American Home Shield (AHS) for has failed to honor the terms of my home warranty contract, deceptive business practices, and improper charges related to my HVAC system service. Under my ShieldPlatinum Plan, AHS clearly states coverage up to $5,000 for the repair or replacement of my HVAC system, including any costs necessary to ensure compatibility with the existing system. My air conditioning unit requires a new compressor and has leaking coils. The technician assigned by AHS confirmed that the compressor is obsolete due to the age of the unit and recommended full unit replacement.
I received a replacement quote of $3,171.19, well within the $5,000 coverage limit. However, I was later informed by AHS that my out-of-pocket costs would be $5,230.00—exceeding both the actual cost of the unit and the warranty coverage limit. When I contacted AHS for clarification, I was told they would only cover the coils and compressor (even though the compressor is no longer available) and would not cover any “modifications” associated with installing the new unit.
This is inconsistent with the contract terms. The plan does not exclude such modifications—in fact, it specifically states coverage for all associated costs to ensure compatibility. There are no known code violations at my property, yet AHS refuses to provide a clear explanation for their denial. I had to repeatedly request an itemized breakdown, which should have been provided upfront. To date, I have still not received a transparent explanation of their calculations or denials.
After conducting research, I discovered numerous complaints describing a pattern of similar denials. AHS and its contracted technicians frequently use the term “modifications” in service reports—language that conveniently allows AHS to deny claims while appearing compliant with their policy. This practice appears deceptive and deliberately misleading, potentially to reduce claim payouts.
Additionally, I was charged a $125 service fee despite originally scheduling the appointment under a promotional offer for free HVAC maintenance. When I called for a follow-up—because the technician could not complete service during the initial visit—I was told I would have to pay the fee. This is misleading and, in my view, constitutes improper billing.
In summary, I believe AHS is:
Failing to honor the terms of a valid service contract.Engaging in deceptive practices by manipulating language in service reports.
Improperly charging consumers for promotional service calls.
Deliberately withholding cost breakdowns to avoid accountability.
I am seeking reimbursement for any unauthorized charges and a reimbursement of my renewal fee, which starts August 1st or a resolution in line with my warranty’s stated coverage.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.
