On my recent appliance claim to American Home Shield, I got a new washing machine. The contractor who came was good. He checked my machine and said he needed to order a part. They couldn't order the part so I got a new washing machine. American Home Shield's service is good. The only thing was I had to call them to submit the claim so I could override because it has like an automatic request when you submit the claim. My washing machine broke at the end of September. When I went to put the claim in, it was saying they couldn't come until October 12, but I called and I was able to get somebody out the next day.

I filed my first claim with American Home Shield when one of the zones was not working on my AC. I did it online and it went real smooth. I got a call within 12 hours of me submitting the claim. There were no issues with the technician at all. He called and was right on time. He was done within 45 minutes.

AHS is great. I had several different companies in the past, but this is the best I had since buying them. My experience with the refrigerator was easy and fast. I had to wait for the part but nobody can do anything about it with everything going on. The last claim was for my air conditioning. The air handler was bad so it had to be replaced. May Heating and Air said my part was $1,500 because they have to remodify the duct system and then AHS will take care of the air handler, labor, and the freon. But I had another company come fix it, and they charged me only $500 on the labor. I just had to buy the air handler for $698, which comes with a five-year warranty but they give you a 10-year if you fill out a paperwork. Since I didn't go through American Home Shield, I was going to call them and see if I couldn't submit what I actually paid the other people because it's cheaper for me to go that route than to pay $1,500 and American Home Shield pay for the actual unit itself, the labor, and the freon.

I had quite a few recent experiences with Home Shield. I just bought a new home and they sent out Realty Rekey for a service request. The guy came in and did exactly what I needed. He rekeyed three locks and one of them had an automatic push-button thing. He did good. This is not my first Home Shield. I had them at my other house.

The only thing is calling Home Shield is frustrating. It's a lot better to go online. When I bought this house, the seller purchased for me the standard Home Shield plan and I upgraded it. When I did that, that was one of the few times I called in. Their rep said that the rekey would be free. Since you can't do the rekey with a special service, you can't do the rekey online. I decided to call in again to a different representative. This time, she said the service wasn't free so I end up paying for it. This is an example of how talking to them individually in person is not good. Other than that, everything else was on the internet and everything went smoothly. Every one of the technicians that was sent out was good.

American Home Shield is something we decided to have. I was a Realtor for a brief amount of time and a long time ago at our first home, a year of American Home Shield did come with our home purchase. Our home was getting older, so we decided to go ahead and add it to this one. Submitting a claim was extremely simple. Our refrigerator wasn’t cooling. Then, there were a few things out of it, but they were nothing major. It was an extra refrigerator that we had to keep drinks and things. I called American Home Shield, they sent somebody out and he had the problem fixed in 30 minutes.

If you're considering a home warranty purchase, you need to know that you can’t always choose who you want to come out. But in my experience, for the most part, everybody that American Home Shield sent out has been professional and has done a good job. Also, you need to know that you'll pay upfront for your portion of it. Be sure to read what is covered and what is not because people just assume that they get a home warranty and it covers everything. It doesn’t. You have to decide what you want covered.

American Home Shield gets the job done but it takes a while before they get the issue fixed. The contractors look at the issue and they’ll say, “I cannot fix it. I have to come back. I have to get the parts.” It happened twice already. Some companies, sometimes they come back the next day or they are gonna able to finish it in one day. But with American Home Shield, sometimes it takes days before it gets done. How about if we have a 24 hour service emergency?

The last one with U.K.H. went good. I had no problem talking to the repairman. It’s just that it took so long before my dryer got fixed because they had to wait for the parts. It took them more than a week before he came back to fix it. Other than that, everything's good. They get back at you right away when you file a claim. The reps are professional though sometimes the language barrier is still there. Sometimes, I can barely understand them because of the accent.

I had a problem with my water valve on my washing machine. The contractor only had blue handles and what that side needed was a red handle to say that it was hot. He was willing to go to a Lowe's or Home Depot and I was needing to go somewhere, so I told him to just put on what he had. It would have been nice to have that red handle. But he was very nice and good. He cleaned up after himself. I also had an issue with an air conditioner type problem. The guy had to get up in the attic and that came out fine. Overall, they came and fixed the problem in an acceptable time. There weren't any issues or messes. It was a click, in and out, and $75 on my end as the copay. I know it costs more than that to get a plumber out.

The contractor that was sent by American Home Shield was great. He was very knowledgeable, figured out the problem quickly and fixed it. There were three outlets that were not working. One of them was wired incorrectly. When he took it apart, he realized that, and he rewired it correctly. A second one was corroded. It had a lot of dirt. It was shorting it out. He ended up replacing the whole outlet on that one. They're all working as of right now.

So far, I have no issues with American Home Shield. The only thing that wasn't covered was my septic area pump. It's gone out twice since I've been here and it's nowhere on their site to be covered. We live in an area that has septic and the pump is mandated and required. That should be something I would think would be covered under on a home.

Abby Heating & Cooling looked at my HVAC unit to make sure that it was tuned and ready for fall and winter. They also looked at my water heater which had started leaking. AHS had a company come out who did a very good job. The company said that they understood that I'm off that day and that they would try to make it out to my place. They made it out during a time when I was able to fit them and changed the water heater with very little fuss. Home Shield should advertise tune-ups for HVAC systems a little more. Regardless, I would never own a house without having a home warranty company. When we bought our house, we went with the company that was part of the sale. We ended up quickly switching to American Home Shield.

They said it would cost too much to repair that washer. I had to get it replaced. I replaced the washer and I'm waiting to get reimbursed by American Home Shield. We've also had our air conditioning looked at and repaired. We've also had our electrical locks. There have been quite a few things ‘cause we’ve had American Home Shield for a long time and we've had nothing but positive experience with having them. My smoke detector was going off constantly. I called the 1800 number for American Home Shield. I put the claim in first online, and then I followed up because it was on a weekend and I didn't know if they could come out that weekend. I did speak with a claims representative, and I didn't think he was professional. I asked him a couple of questions, and he was a little smart-alecky. When AHS emailed me back, they gave me a number and it was for somebody electrical. It just didn't make sense. I left a message, and then it was a female voice that came on the voicemail. I kinda was thrown off with all that. That was when I made the call to AHS and asked them if it was a legitimate referral. That was when the guy was kind of smart-alecky, and he said, "Yeah, that's them." I said, "Well, can I change?" He said, "No, you can't change." He was kinda short. He had a very strong accent too. He put a bad taste in my mouth.

Now, the contractor was wonderful. Once I realized that they were legit, he was great. It might've been his wife who was the person on the voicemail. He explained to me that they were just switching over phones and they had to set up the professional voicemail line identifying who they were. But she was very accommodating. She called me a couple of times and told me when he would be available. I filled out a survey online regarding their service because I was very impressed. Everything's been perfect. I haven't had any more issues. The contractor was very knowledgeable about smoke detectors.

Our pool pump failed and my husband put in a claim with AHS but they didn't send out the claim correctly to the company. My husband had to call back AHS to have them send out the correct information that he pushed a claim through. The company was able to do exactly what we needed them to do once they got the correct information. The contractors called us to let us know that they were on their way and how far they were. They got here on time and once they got here, they went out there and fixed the item. They did what they were supposed to do. My husband was satisfied.

AHS keeps doing the same thing of getting the incorrect information out and that's one of the things that kind of frustrates us. At one point, we had problems with getting the correct information out for a plumbing incident that we had. After having to go three plumbers, we came to find out that they couldn't replace or fix the item that they said that they could. Also, there was a refund that they were supposed to give us and they never did. I have thought about switching to another warranty agency.

We've been in the house for almost 18 years now and it seems like everything is just going to pot. But American Home Shield has been great. We've had it for a while and just this year, we've used it more than we've ever had. It saved me a lot of money. The control valve on the water heater exploded and I called it in the next morning to American Home Shield. They gave me the number to call. I got a voicemail that didn't have a way for me to leave a message. I turned around and called right back. The adviser I talked to put me on hold and called the company. They assured me somebody would be out that day. About three hours later, the guy called me and he was out in about four hours. He diagnosed it, went and got the parts, and came back about an hour later. He fixed it and everything was good. Also, one very hot summer, the AC compressor locked up and caught the disconnect on fire. The contractor came out and diagnosed it, ordered a new unit and a new outside condenser unit. About two days, they got it here. They came out, put it in and put a new disconnect on it. I would recommend AHS to a friend.

I claimed two things through American Home Shield. My icemaker in my refrigerator was broken, and the shaft seal on my washer was broken, too. Back in July, my drum cracked on my washer. The tech took like five weeks to get the parts in and get it fixed. It was done about August 8th or so. I was trying to call in because they had replaced the drum, and it was leaking a little bit of water after that about every fifth load. I couldn't get that information to them. I had to put in a claim for my refrigerator, so I wasn't gonna have to pay another deductible. I just put it in as a separate deal, when I feel as though the guy who put the new drum in should have come back and fixed the seal that got screwed up.

I wasn't able to contact anybody about it because I called in to tell them, and I was getting put through the menu. I had already put in the claim on the refrigerator. So I didn't have a method to communicate to them that information. That was frustrating, but it got fixed. So I'm okay with it. The same guy came for both the refrigerator and the washer. He was great. This time, he brought an icemaker with him, so he only had to do one trip on the refrigerator. I was happy about that.

My overall experience with American Home Shield is good. The only dispute I ever had was when my pool heater went out, and they wouldn't replace it. I bought the house used so I don't know the entire life of the heater. But they wouldn't replace it because it’s had too much chlorination. So I had to replace it out with myself. Other than that, I have been satisfied with everything. I told my son-in-law about them and he took out an AHS warranty as soon as he bought his new house in July. He's happy with it too.

Most of the time, my experience with American Home Shield has been good and I've been satisfied. I usually call in my claims. I do it online too but even though I'm semi-familiar with computers, sometimes it's so much easier for me to pick up the phone and do it than it is to get to the computer, sit down, and make an appointment.

Every now and then, you get a vendor that's not good. I had one or two vendors that were terrible and I reported those. The recent claim I had was for the air conditioning system and that was fine. The people who came have been here before and I'm very satisfied with them. My pan needed to be drained. It was always clogged and it was dripping water. The air conditioning system is running fine now.

About a year ago, I had a claim for one of the kitchen appliances. The contractor was coming from Mississippi over to New Orleans. That was quite a drive and I was very dissatisfied. They didn't confirm the appointment and I had to call them. When I had problems, they did it as a video and they didn't come when they were supposed to come. I called American Home Shield and complained. If you do that, they seem to make the adjustments. They sent someone else who had been here two years ago and I was very satisfied with him.

The technician from Plumbers Inc. went out of his way to help me and assured me that the water heater would be done as soon as it could be done. I bathed with a bucket and a bowl of water for three weeks. Dealing with insurance and getting the enclosure all rebuilt so they could put the new one in, the technician did me a favor because by the time he took the water heater out, they wanted him to charge me even more money. But we couldn't fix the floor until the old water heater was out and so, it had leaked so bad and mobile homes have crappy wood. Before we put this one in 15 years ago, we put two-by-fours all across the bottom, which was one reason the water heater didn't go falling through the floor. But we had to repair all that. So, I had all that done on my own because it was a nightmare.

Nobody responded and people would ask you to send them stuff, and I'd send them, and they didn't even call back. But everything worked out good. I just noticed though that the technician didn't strap my water heater in like he was supposed to over the weekend. The straps are there from the old one. It’s law that they have to be strapped in, especially since we live in earthquake country. Other than that, he was fantastic.

Sometimes, American Home Shield is a little slow and you can't rush anything because you're at their mercy. But this time, it was kind of not their fault because they couldn't put anything in new. I was dealing with insurance. AHS is picky. They'll replace stuff but they don't wanna do anything extra. I had a toilet, and the ring was sitting up too high. And so, I had replaced my bathroom floor so they could put the toilet in, which they never did. So, I got money from them on that and I never had this problem.

American Home Shield was raved about by a friend of mine and she kept saying to me that I need American Home Shield. I finally got them and my very first claim was my refrigerator. They sent this guy out who was terrible but it wasn’t their fault. It took forever for me to get American Home Shield on the phone to tell them I do not want this guy back in my house. So, the guy came back a second time. So much time was wasted and my refrigerator never ever was repaired. In the end, they got a guy that was responsible. He came out and he said it cannot be repaired. AHS was good about processing the credit to go towards the freezer, which was a $12,000 refrigerator, but they gave us three so that was fine.

I love American Home Shield so much since then, that we just bought a beach house and I got it for a beach house. I have told so many people about AHS. It is amazing, except for the fact that it's not easy to get somebody on the phone. But now, I tell people that I've recommended that if they push the button for sales, AHS is gonna answer right away. You push the button for sales and then, you tell them you need support. Then you can get somebody on the phone. But if you go and wait for support, you're never gonna get anybody on the phone.

American Home Shield did an assessment of my airconditioning heating units for winter. The process was simple. The only thing that was confusing is I have two units which I thought were both covered by them, but that's not the case, which is okay. I understand. I had to pay an additional $75 fee for the second unit. The techs that came out were good and thorough. They found that the coil on one of my units is gone and that it either needs to be replaced or the unit needs to be replaced and made a note of that. It's all been good with AHS. They follow their contract well and they're efficiently scheduled.

I had claims for the toilet, which was running uncontrollably, and a gas leak. From the website, I was given an expectation that I will be contacted in the next 24 to 48 hours but AHS actually contacted me the same day. They exceeded that expectation. The plumbing company was great. They replaced the part in the toilet and fixed the gas leak, which definitely lowered my water bill and I'm able to have some functional heat. Greatly satisfied so far.

Home Shield was a recommendation by friends. RG Plumbing & Rooter went to my tenants living there and the plumbing is now doing well. I'm just curious why the premium has gone up quite a bit. Also, one thing I don't feel very happy about is when the air conditioning system was broken, Home Shield said that the contractor could fix it, but I needed to pay $600 because it was using an old Freon that Home Shield doesn't cover. I had to replace the whole system. I'm considering dropping the warranty off.

Updated on 10/16/2020: I wrote a review on 10/11. I received a reply that someone would be willing to help me resolve the issue. I responded, yes, please, and asked how the person would like to connect with me on 10/13. Now, 3 business days later, still no reply. So now I am writing another review to try to get AHS to follow up on the same issue, again. I have been trying for over a month to get some help.

Original Review: We've had to call them numerous times to follow up on plumbers that did not fix our pipes. They charged us the $100 service fee immediately, and then closed our service request ticket many times, after we have called them to let them know that, NO our issue has not been fixed. The plumber they had sent looked at the pipes, said he needed to "follow up on a piece", and then refused to ever return any phone calls. Really just terrible, dishonest service. We feel very much cheated by this company after paying $500 for a warranty, and then $100 for a service, only to have them refuse to give any explanation or help, or resolve the issue in any way. We'll end up paying out of pocket for someone to help solve our plumbing issue, as AHS has proved to be useless.

My first issue was that my air conditioner went out. I have medical issues and I was without air and it was 95 degrees for six weeks. American Home Shield finally got it fixed. The air conditioning unit had to be replaced. But it seemed like they had to have several people come and look at it, and they had to discuss it. Then they had to order it. It was six to eight weeks for me sitting in the heat because they didn't wanna let the serviceman fix it. Then the last time the guy from Superb Heating was out, he said it was a gas valve. He knew what was wrong with it and fixed it the same day. I talked to several of the servicemen and they said most of the home warranties were the same. Then I talked to my daughter who has American Shield and she had the same issue with her oven. It took AHS three months to fix it.

The technician fixed it, which had something to do with the shower knob so it was an easy fix for him. The other one looked like it was leaking from the wall. When he tried to take it off, he snapped off the showerhead, and then he ended up having to take a big chunk out of our wall and capping it off. The technician was very nice and apologetic about it. It still leaks somewhat, but we just went ahead and put a new nozzle on. Every now and then the showerhead drips water, but it's okay although I would’ve liked for the entire thing to be fixed.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield for the refrigerator was awesome. It was a four-door refrigerator from Samsung and it was a problem refrigerator because it had several air compressors but my freezer wasn't freezing. Sears came out three times and then, a Samsung representative came out because Sears said it was beyond their capability. The refrigerator was replaced and AHS gave me a good price, which was $2800. I decided to get the refrigerator that only has an icemaker and not worry about all the bells and whistles on it. Because the more you get on something, the more trouble you have. So, I went with a $1800 dollar refrigerator instead of a $2800, which is what they gave me though I paid more for the refrigerator I had. It worked out but I had to call the reps several times. They didn’t speak with me as far as keeping me updated.

I love the new refrigerator. Now that we have it, we noticed that the food and drinks are colder in this one than it ever was in that refrigerator when it was working. American Home Shield is quick and I appreciate them. It takes one or two days before I hear from somebody and if I don't, I call AHS and they give me the number of who to contact and so, I'm happy with all that. Also, I haven't had anything replaced. They've usually fixed things and they send out quality people. I have told people about AHS and they have switched from Choice. There's another one out there and they've switched to AHS too.

I had two contractors. One was for the update of my heating system getting prepared for the winter and the other one was to do a repair of my air conditioner. Both my experiences were fine. However, on the one that was supposed to repair an issue that was malfunctioning, I ended up having to re-call them. They came out on Monday, spent 15 minutes and said I was good. I had to call them back on Wednesday because it wasn't done correctly and I still have the same issue. I'm in the process of waiting on them. When I called Wednesday and got a response, it went through and contacted the service department but I couldn't get an appointment until today, Friday. Needless to say, it's almost 85 degrees in my house which is unbearable especially when it's 88 degrees outside.

I have been with American Home Shield for over 10 years and at this present time, I'm not satisfied with them. If you're doing a follow-up or something that is not done correctly, that should be an emergency or there should be a way that you can get seen the next date. You shouldn't have to wait a couple of days in order to get the follow-up which was supposed to have been completed the day of. That's an inconvenience especially when somebody's paid. It's not like they have to wait on the money. The money is there. Also, I'd rather speak with someone when filing a claim but if you have to go through the prompts, it sometimes does not understand what you're saying or the prompts that you're putting in there so it causes some confusion. I had to hang up three times and start over. It wasn't as easy as it should be especially when you're doing something at night that you need somebody to respond to.

He said there was nothing that could be done with the dishwasher. It was just a bad dishwasher. The refrigerator inside with the ice maker had problems with the ice maker. And it was a constant problem with that brand of refrigerator. They won't fix the ice makers or recall them. And then, they did a quick fix on the refrigerator outside, which wasn't working. But it was something like a starter or some piece on it that starts the compressor. He did a quick fix on that. And then, they said they had to order a part for the refrigerator inside and another part for the one outside.

The tech jerry-rigged stuff until they could actually get it fixed properly, which helped me out because it gave me my refrigerator back until they got the correct part for it. They came back in about a week or so, when the parts came in, replaced the one on the outside with the correct part and then replaced a part of the icemaker in the refrigerator.

When Precision Door came, they were efficient and very professional. My husband dealt with them and he was very pleased. So that was all good. It was easy submitting the claim. I am a Realtor and when I bought the policy for myself, I was told that for X amount of extra money, I can also add to my policy something for the electronics in our house. Whether it was computers or stereo or speakers, it would be covered by the policy if they went out. So I added that to what I ordered. As soon as we moved in, the speakers went out in the house. I called American Home Shield and they said I have to call another number. So I called that number and they said, “Oh, well, this policy doesn't go into enforcement until 30 days after you've lived in the house.” Then I found out that the speakers and the stereo weren't covered at all. So the policy was a waste of money. I should have never bought it in the first place. But it does cover lightning strikes.

When you call and you’re making inquiries and getting ready to buy the policy, the people that answer the phone are not well enough informed and they're giving out wrong information. I have had a client who had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield. They had a really hard time getting somebody out so they kept calling me as the agent and I did everything that I could do. So I'm feeling leery about encouraging people to buy the policy because when things don't go right for them, then all of a sudden I become the intermediary having to make calls and trying to get things checked.

Two days later, I had to have AHS send somebody out to check my furnace before I started turning it on, to do a safety check, and that worked out well. The only complaint I have is that for those two visits, it cost me $175, plus my monthly payment that I’ve been paying every month for years. I feel as though that plan, $175, neither one of the companies wasn’t here for an hour. It should be lower. That’s ridiculous for it to be that high. But then I’m glad I have a house plan so if anything goes wrong.

I called American Home Shield for a regular pre-season maintenance. Air-Rite Heating and Cooling called me within 24 hours and I scheduled it. They're always wonderful for me. I would recommend Air-Rite and I would recommend American Home Shield with caution. The representative that helped me with Air-Rite was perfect. But the other representative did not settle anything. They kept talking around the issue. They did not resolve it. It took me nine days to finally get someone who resolved my issue within less than 30 minutes.

For our most recent claim, we had a door to a washer that was broken. The hinge was broken. The claim was easy to submit. We've had Brooks Appliance in the past and they're not our favorite repair person. They're a bit slow about doing the work, or when you tell them what is wrong. They knew exactly before they came what was wrong. And we were like, "Well, you can just order the part." They had us to submit the picture, but they still came out and took two weeks to order the part when I had already explained it and they saw the picture. Also, it took a process for this person to come out. And it took two people to come out and do it. You put the hinge and then the screws. It wasn't a hard process. They were not the best people for a repair. Other than that, the door now works great.

Our stove was broken and the tech that Home Shield sent out brought the wrong stove. We have gas but they brought an electric. The sockets were not convertible. It was a different kind of plug. It took two or three months. We kept calling Home Shield and following up, but they made sure that we got the correct stove. They ended up making sure that we got the product that we needed for our house. Doing business with Home Shield has been good.

The only other complaint I have is, I know they like to make sure that the thing is fixed, but as soon as this person leaves the house, they close the ticket. You end up reopening it. For instance, the ice maker on our freezer broke in March. We put a claim in, and that was right around the COVID time. Brooks came out three times to fix it but they couldn't get it fixed. Home Shield kept closing the ticket, and then they said it was fixed, but it wasn't. And then after that, they sent two other companies to come, but it still wasn't fixed. And then, the COVID happened. So, it was July before it ended up getting fixed. One person came out twice, and then they got a person from Sears to actually fix it. That's another thing. If something goes wrong and you let them know, they would send out four different companies to do it, but they keep closing the tickets. If they close it but it was still wasn't fixed, we had to pay another fee for contractors to come out.

We were getting a reading in our thermostat that the system was not operating. We thought that it was a thermostat issue and I had done all the do-it-yourself things that I was instructed to do on the webpage for the utility company and that didn't seem to solve the problem. So the next thing was to call the American Home Shield to do a service call and they sent a team who was very good. The two fellows were very professional and they were using proper pandemic protocols for masks. They analyzed the problem and took care of it. There was something outside and something inside that needed to be replaced and they replaced them. Then the AC has been running ever since. We continue to be satisfied with the service we get and the value of the contract we signed with American Home Shield. We've told people that we have American Home Shield and we've had a good experience with them.

Affordable Services came out because the washer seemed to not be rinsing out or spinning out the water. A plumber said that my shut-off valves were stuck open but when he did it, it shut off the water. I was trying to figure out about the ventless dryer but the technician said he couldn't look at the vents because I'm in a condo. Then he asked me about the settings and checked it all out. Everything was good. The technician was friendly and very thorough. I’ve lived in the condo for two years and I haven’t ever had it maintained. So, I wanted to make sure that everything was good and the water wasn't stuck open. Everybody I've gotten from American Home Shield is very knowledgeable.

I've had a bunch of problems with my freezer. It's a built-in Viking, so I hired someone. They gave me an estimate and then, it didn't leak for three months again. The drain vent freezes up and then all the water, when the vent automatically defrosts, goes out the front. So, they installed a heater into the freezer so now it works good. I love working with American Home Shield because they're super-efficient and quick. I have a refrigerator guy and he doesn't work on the Mieles because it's German so AHS always sends out someone who knows what's going on with that specific model or brand.

When we purchased the home, our realtor said she was going to get us a home warranty. We've purchased several homes over the years and you get a home warranty but it's completely useless. We rarely used them or when we did use them, we didn't get very good service. I started researching online and American Home Shield, by far, had the best ratings. I told her that I wanted to go with them. We got our first year taken care of then I re-upped again here in September to do another year. We'd definitely recommend them and I've written several reviews and said just that. In fact, I had somebody from American Home Shield write me an email saying that he was very impressed with my review.

We had a problem with the water to the fridge and the garbage disposal and the contractors were excellent. They've come out and have been very professional. They wore masks. I thought we had everything done. I put in new air conditioners. I walked out two days later and the water heater burst. It still cost me 850 to get the water heater put in on top of the 75 that I paid but thank God for American Home Shield. To have American Home Shield be so good, we felt very lucky.

When you first make your claim, they get back to you very quickly. Most recently, one of the ground fault outlets wouldn't reset and we kept trying to reset it. It affected other outlets around the house. The technician came and immediately diagnosed it and determined it was faulty. He replaced it very quickly and did a good job. We also had a refrigerator which is about 14 years old and AHS's contractors came at least two times for it. They also came just recently and repaired the icemaker which they also did a good job and it's working right now. They replaced a faulty kitchen faucet and a couple of years ago, they came in and replaced the coil that had frozen up on our air conditioning unit. It was excellent and it's well worth the money we pay.

The heater was making some odd noises whenever we would turn on the hot tub. It really was concerning to me, so I called Home Shield and talked to them about it. They said that they'd send some folks out to look at it. Platinum Pool Care contacted me shortly thereafter, and then we set up a good time for them to come by to look at my system.

I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield and would recommend the service. People should just make sure that they read through the actual agreement so they know exactly what is covered and what isn't. I ran through an issue last year where I was having hot water issues, and so I called. They had sent someone out to look at the hot water heater. They could not determine what the issue was, so I had to go back to Home Shield and have them send out another assessment specialist. They never found the issue. So, there was some back and forth on whether they were gonna charge me another $75, but it was really the same issue that didn't get resolved. I'd tell others that there are certain things that the warranty covers and things that it doesn't. And if it wasn't the water heater that was bad and if it was something going on with the pipes, I was told that it wasn't covered.

It's not the best. But for the most part, they're pretty good. The contractors that came recently for the AC were very professional. Our garbage disposal was not working, and a clog occurred because of that. So, there was a huge leak. It was leaking all out from underneath my kitchen cabinets. Because of Home Shield's 24 to 48 hours for someone to respond, we were without a kitchen sink for a week. The technician came out from Patriot Plumbing two days after I reported it, and replaced the garbage disposal and said that he didn't have a snake that was long enough to dislodge the clog and they would have to get back with us. The garbage disposal that they took out was a very nice garbage disposal with a horsepower, but they replaced it with a half horsepower. We weren't pleased with the product that they replaced.

What they wanted to do was install a cleanout trap so that they wouldn't have to go under the house. Lo and behold, they wouldn't talk to me. They said that only Home Shield could talk to me about the quote for what they wanted to do in order to get our sink working again. So then, Home Shield got back with us. Meanwhile, a week had passed without a kitchen sink and they wanted $1,400 to install this trap that we have never had any other plumber tell us we needed. We've had clogs in the past. So, we called another plumber, paid for out of our pocket, after paying Home Shield service call plus the rather large amount we pay every month to have them. And this plumber came out, had the clog unclogged in 15 minutes. He was in and out of here, and for $125. We would have been out $1,400 on top of what we pay Home Shield each month plus the $100 service fee.

I just bought the home in August. I had not even stayed a week and used the dishwasher a couple of times. I had noticed once that there was some water on the floor. The next time I felt it, there was water all over the floor and it would not go out. Action Appliances came out and they were out of Russellville which is out of town. They were great. The guy told me that it was an older unit and the motor had locked up. He recommended replacement.

The home warranty company told me that they went through Home Depot to order me a unit which was okay. That is supposed to be delivered next Tuesday but they're not using Action Appliance. They've got it outsourced to somebody else now. I don't like having all of these different contractors coming out. I was happy with Action Appliance. They're an authorized GE repair company. The guy was very thorough and explained everything to me. Now, I've got somebody else that I don't know that's gonna be coming to my home. I really would like to have had one company that would be good to service so I can get to know them, know their work and I am comfortable with them.

It's confusing because why do they not use the same appliance repair people? I've also got another outstanding service on my refrigerator because that thing is leaking water out of the freezer. It took a week to get through. Every time I have called in, I would be on hold for like an hour and 20 minutes before I could get in touch with somebody.

Automatic Control Corp was very nice and quite prompt to the appointment time. The air conditioning had been off the whole weekend. So we were kind of anxious about it. When they got here, the analysis was that we had a shorted wire in the communication line between the outside unit and the fan inside. In other words, the air conditioner itself was capable of making the air cold, but it wasn't circulating. They fixed it. It ran when they left and we were very pleased. They did not charge us beyond the $100 service that we paid American Home Shield.

In less than 24 hours after they left, the whole thing didn’t work again. They left one of their business cards and I called them. Mark said they saw some mildew on the fan and that was gonna have to be cleaned. It’s a $250 charge. So I thought about it for a minute and then I sent him a text so I have it in writing. I sent him a text sort of looking for some sort of guarantee after having not 24 hours of success. I wanted some reassurance that my 250 bucks was gonna make this work or what they were gonna do. But I never even got a response to that. It was left hanging.

American Home Shield's air conditioning coverage was inadequate. I called our previous air conditioning service guy and he came over within an hour and a half. It was pretty busy here in South Florida for air conditioning but he was very cooperative. He said the problem was the condensation the air conditioning creates, which evacuates to the outside, is all plugged up. This is a pretty common eventuality here in South Florida. He took care of it while I was here. He charged me 100 bucks and the thing has been working fine since.

The last time they came out, I thought this pipe was for the AC, but it wasn't. I thought the AC was only supposed to be out here dripping. So, I wasted my $75 for that because there was nothing wrong. The tech told me that it's not part of the AC. He went up in the attic and told me he didn't know what that was.

Recently, the overflow pipe outside on my back porch was flooding. There was water continuously all over my back porch. I called that in and it was easy. They told me the contractor would be here between 12:00 and 1:00. They were here before 12:00. The tech from Water and Drain Works was very professional. He told me what was wrong and he had to go back and get a part. There's no water on my patio. I didn't like the experience with my AC. But the water heater was a great experience.

We had a plumbing issue with the bathtubs. There was a 40-minute wait time for a representative to come on when submitting the claim. After that extended wait time being on hold and waiting for a representative, I went ahead and tried the online thing. Then the contractor called me the very next day and set up an appointment. The appointment was just a few days out. Then on the day of the appointment, they sent a reminder and the plumber showed up on time. The job was bigger than he thought it was so he had to come out again. But it was the very next day and he was able to get everything taken care of. It has been great. But now, the faucet is dripping. That wasn't part of the initial work order. So I'm gonna have to place another call to have somebody come out and fix that.

I also had a work order in for my refrigerator and the company that Home Shield contracted with called me and said that it would be a couple of weeks before they were able to come out. So they suggested I cancel and ask for a different place to do it. I was not able to do that online. It was really confusing online and I didn't wanna sit through another 40-minute hold time, so that was a little frustrating.

I called and Appliance Works' tech came back out. Now, things are working perfectly. Overall, their service was excellent. So far, things have been great with AHS. The first guy from Dempsey Oil who came here was a scam, con artist, rude, and inconsiderate. I thought we were never gonna that company again. But after talking to American Home Shield and finding out that Dempsey has been in business for a very long time, and it was one bad apple, I said that I could give them another chance. Dempsey Oil said they let go of that employee that we had issues with. Since then, they sent a nice gentleman to my home who actually helped me with my plumbing issues. So even though it was a nightmare of an experience to begin with, it ended up being a pleasant experience after it was all said and done. The guy told me he fixed what he could, and unfortunately, under American Home Shield’s policy, there were some things they couldn't do. It's my contract. I had to hire a different plumber on my own for some other stuff.

When calling American Home Shield, I'm on hold for two hours. Off the bat, when people come here, they're already in bad energy because of the whole experience working for American Home Shield. They seem really annoyed because they're on hold for two hours before they come here, and then when they come, they have to assess everything. Then they have to be on hold for another two hours to get permission for everything and more time has to go by. Then they have to get permission to come back and fix things. American Home Shield seems not to approve a lot of items. It’s not really the best warranty company in the world because there's just a lot of red tape.

A lot of things they told me that were covered for my home aren't covered. There were things that they promised and guaranteed me when we paid for the services, later on, they denied. I paid an extra $175 to have a water pump be warrantied. But when they called for it, they told me it wasn't covered. I asked them why and they said it was electrical. The pump was working, but electricity was getting to it that was why I paid extra money. However on top of that, I have electrical in my contract.

It seems like there's little loopholes for everything. Every time someone comes, they're always charging more money and up-charging. They call it “enhancements”. It also seems that American Home Shield get a lot of workers who are just starting up as a company, or have a hard time getting business, so at the beginning, they think it's a way to get customers. But soon, they find out that it's just a lot of aggravation. It just puts the customer and the worker coming in in a really odd position 'cause it's American Home Shield’s fault for having a system like that. I'm a first time homebuyer and I moved somewhere far away. I was kinda scared to move far away so I thought it was a good way to have a little bit of protection for my home. But it's a learning experience. I'm not gonna sign up with them again next year.

The claim for the heater was good. It's been fixed and we are very happy with that. Besides that, the gas did not start and they showed us how to start it. However, the current SR has been going on for a while. We have opened it on October 1st or 2nd. It was the issue about the stoppage. There is a leakage in the restroom for the sink. It has been assigned to some other plumber and they did not show up. Then it has been reassigned to Honest Plumbers. They came and fixed the stoppage but did not fix the leakage. They said the description they had was not matching.

I talked to American Home Shield, and again, they talked to Honest Plumbers. One technician was here for five minutes and said the faucet has to be replaced then he was gone. We thought that he would come and fix it. I talked to American Home Shield again as well as with Honest Plumbers and nothing has happened. Yesterday, I figured out that it seems like if I open a new case, at least things can go fast. I've requested them to fix it because we have only two restrooms in the house and we are seven people. I requested them to open a new case and assign Honest Plumbers. That's what they did and I'm waiting for their call. But this is just maybe a communication gap. The response from American Home Shield is very good and I'm happy with the service.

I filed two claims, one for AC, one for faucet repair. Both declined because of the MANY EXCEPTIONS in the contract. The AC would have been repaired... but only if I paid $3,000 for new refrigerant. I found out from a friend who does HVAC work that their company pays about $200 for the same amount of new refrigerant. The faucet repair was declined because the service contractor provided incorrect information. The plumbers would not talk to me and they wouldn't even answer the phone when American Home Shield called them. I spent 3 weeks calling American Home Shield to ask for a second opinion and kept getting the run-around.

Also HORRIBLE customer service. Every time you call them, expect to be on the phone for over an hour... most of that time on hold... then you get to talk to people in India or Pakistan. They don't care what you say. They just read to you from a computer screen. Want to speak to a supervisor? Nope. IMPOSSIBLE. The worst customer service I've ever experienced with any company.

Their website is very slick and makes it appear that everything is covered. LIES. Read the contract very carefully before signing up and you will see for yourself. They have so many exceptions to coverage that they rarely approve anything. And the service contractors hate dealing with American Home Shield because it takes a long time for them to approve a claim and they rarely approve anything anyway. I will save my $60 each month so I can pay for services myself. This is nothing but a scam. Don't fall for it like I did.

At the beginning of August 2020 I called AHS for an issue with standing water in the sewer line that is originated from laundry room. Brick Street company was dispatched and tried to unblock the standing water. They stopped the work, stating that cannot be determined what is causing the blockage because they cannot see behind the standing water - the pipe being either broken or blocked. The plumber stated that he needs a camera in order to determine the nature of blockage. So, while the determination of standing water could not be made, AHS closed the case and denied the compensation on the reason that inside the sewer line are foreign objects - which was in contradiction with what Brick Plumbing stated. In fact the Brick Street Plumbing did not complete the job they were required to do.

Further, I asked AHS to get another company for a second opinion. The second plumbing company came - United Air Temp, that did their investigation as well. This time, the standing water was easily removed with a vacuum and plumber could plainly see, within 1 foot from the finished floor, within the house foundation, that the pipe elbow is broken and need replacement. The issue that I am having now is with AHS honoring the claim. The pipe that is collapsed or broken inside the main foundation is covered in the contract but the way the response is handled is very unethical as follow:

    - I was waiting AHS to contact me in regards to new findings, this did not happen, I had to call myself for the status and resolution.
    - It's extremely difficult to get customer service on the phone, waiting time is few hours.
    - Official reasons for claim denial are not given, on my account page there are no answers provided for the claim - but I learned from different answers given to me in occasions that the claim is actually denied for "foreign objects" like mud and rocks. Mud and rocks are a result of pipe being broken, as the United Air Temp representative explained to me.

    - In extreme rare occasions when managers are get on the phone, their responses are contradictory: one manager, extremely rude and arrogant, told me that the claim is denied because foreign objects were found inside, like toilet paper and a letter for these findings will be sent to my address, letter that never came; another told me that indeed I am justified to be reimbursed but is not up to him, he will send his report to other department and definitely will call me back - and in fact never did.

I found the relationship to AHS being extremely difficult to be maintained and refusals for rejection are made by the minute, every time a different one from each manager I got in contact with, after hours of waiting.

I called AHS when the oven wasn't working. They said it’d be about 10 days for somebody to come out. Sears came, looked at it and they fixed it. It worked for a while but the thing threw a fit again. The last time that the tech came, he was calling and trying to get parts. AHS told him that they would send him a part, but they didn't have the other part. He told them that there was no sense in sending one part because it was not gonna work if they don't have both parts. They had this conversation back and forth. They did send a part, so it still didn't work.

AHS then sent out Anderson's. I personally have dealt with Anderson's long before I got involved with AHS and I've always got great service out of them. They had fixed my dryer and my dishwasher in the past and I never had a problem. They come out, they do their work, and they leave. When Anderson's got involved with it, the tech sent in a request for the parts that they needed, and they sent him the parts. He then came out, put them in and that was the end of that story. Everything works fine. My life is a whole lot simpler now.

The people that came out from Sears were really nice folks. But one of the comments that was said was, "We're not accustomed to working with high-end stoves like this and I don't know why they send us out here anyway." But with the guy from Anderson's, I've had him do different things for over eight years and he doesn't give a damn what you have him fix. He fixes it and that's the end of it.

It's very convenient to have AHS. Submitting claims with them is pretty easy and I do it online. Right now, my refrigerator is broken and it's been like that for a month now. Initially, the tech that they assigned to me, WCU, wasn't going to be able to come out for a week, so Icalled someone in to come and do a diagnosis on the fridge to see if I could just pay out of pocket. But because it's going to be $900, I wound up calling WCU back and having them come out to do a diagnosis. Unfortunately, it looks like there are two things that are wrong with the fridge. So, I'm still waiting for it to be fixed because they've had to order another part. Other than that, AHS has been fabulous. When the techs replaced the part that they initially thought was wrong and the fridge wasn't working the next day, I had to call and have AHS reopen the work order. And that was very quick. They took care of it and apologized for the inconvenience.

I cancelled one homeowner's insurance because it was so awful. And with Home Shield, it was much easier. I had my first claim with them with my dryer. They give you the option to make your own appointment. But I'm one of these people that believe if I pay for a service, you're gonna do the work. So, I made them choose the provider that would take care of the issue. It was a bit of a problem getting the people over here. They had to reschedule because they had a major issue. However, they were very professional and fixed. They had to order a part and it was all done. The contractor was very good. He was very polite and he kept me informed. He apologized that he couldn't come the day that happened. There was some major issue with wiring. He apologized, followed up, ordered the part and got it fixed. Home Shield is better than Select Home, however, more expensive. But sometimes, you have to pay a little more to get a little better.

I just bought the home. The sellers paid for the home warranty, but I am so delighted to have it. When my washer drains, the drainage stopped up. There wasn't a lot of water to drain out. That's why we needed plumbing. I submitted the claim to Home Shield over the phone and it was extremely easy. Bubba's Plumbing came out and was able to resolve the issue. The tech even looked at another appliance that I'm gonna have to call in on. He didn't do anything to it, but he looked at it just at our request. It was a great experience.

We moved in, and we love the house, and we're trying not to fall in love with it too much because it's an older house. We're waiting on something else. But we already bought a home. It's just too small. We know our house is up. But then we suddenly developed a leak in the bathtub coming through the wall. So, I would call Home Shield again. They're just what we needed.

We called for a plumber and a air conditioning person because we had a leak in the guest bathroom. When the plumber came, he said it was an air condition plumbing thing and it wasn't something he can do. Then he left, but we still got charged 75 bucks. We got charged another 75 bucks the next day for the air condition people to come out and fix the pipe. It was like a double charge for the same concern. But the tech was pretty quick and concise. AHS has done a gret job overall.

I called Home Shield for my water heater and the tech they sent out replaced it. But he cut the gas off to the line and he never put it back on. I called Home Shield last week and I told them that when I cut my central heater on, I would hear it click on the wall unit but it would not start. They told me to check the fuse thing before I make a service call. I clicked the fuse thing on the wall to engage that amperage, or whatever it is, and the whole central air unit would come on for about two minutes and then cut back off. I called and made the second service call. A tech came out and he found the problem right away. He said that the gas was not cut back on from when the water heater guy came out. It's been excellent since the second tech came. Home Shield helped me out and they make it pretty easy. Even if there is a waiting time, one of their guys would call whenever there's an opening.

American Home Shield sucks. I keep them because my husband is gone a lot. I'm a single mom a lot and I have no family here. It's easier to have someone that I can call. However, I had an issue with plumbing and I kept calling them. The people that they would recommend would never show up. I kept telling them, “Can you let me pick a company that's nearby? I know this company and they're getting good reviews.” They said, “No. You’re not allowed to. Even if we go with that company, you would have to go through all of our list first before we'll even let you get to that person.”

Then we had an air conditioning problem. I called them and they were gonna send someone out. I immediately looked those people up. I said, “Do you guys even look at who you are sending out to people's houses? These people have gotten horrible reviews. I am looking at this local company, Rocklin Heating & Air. Is there any way, if they're on your list, that you will let me go to them?” They said no. I said, “That doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn’t you do that?” The lady said, “I'm sorry. If you have a problem with that, then you can just pay for it all yourself.” I ended up paying $15,000 to get my air conditioning unit replaced because I would rather have a company that I trusted than to send someone up into my house that had horrible reviews. Then you're stuck with that company for years because of warranty issues. There's no way I was gonna let someone work on my house that I didn't trust.

I am not the only person who has noticed this. When I Googled American Home Shield, everyone was saying the same thing. Everyone says, “Do not go with American Home Shield. They are horrible. I have had so many issues.” I pay monthly to a company that is supposed to provide me with a service. But they only want to use the people that they want to use. They're not providing their customers with the opportunity to look outside the box. They're stuck inside this box and they're refusing to give their customers the best service. It's basically take it or leave it. If they are really interested in providing good home services to their customers, then they should be more vested in providing a list of people that have good reviews.

Also, it used to be that I would pay the $75 once the person comes to my house and does the service. Now, before the person even comes to my house and provides the service, they charge my account that day. If that person never makes it, I have to call them and tell them, “Hey, the person never came. Can you make sure to refund me my money?” To me that’s ridiculous. I'm sure I could cancel them out at the end of the year and go with someone else. If anyone asks, I'd tell them not to go with American Home Shield.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they responded back very quickly and had it all taken care of. It was for the icemaker in my fridge, my dishwasher and my microwave. So far, it appears everything is working functionally and everything's good. Michael, the guy who came, was wonderful. He explained everything in detail to me and repaired the icemaker. It’s working but the water is coming out slower. I haven't implemented what he wanted me to add to my wash for the washing machine though because my dishwasher still smells. He said to use Lemi Shine. When I add that, it's going to improve.

We got referred to American Home Shield by a friend and that referral was supposed to give ourselves as well as our friend a $25 Amazon card, and that has not occurred. I haven't called AHS to follow up on it because I don't wanna be on hold for 25 minutes. It's easy to submit a claim online. It’s quick and painless but if you call in, it’s a 25-minute wait, and they don't give the option for a callback. I tried twice and both times, it was over a 25-minute wait. It said it would exceed 25 minutes so it could have been 45 minutes. I didn't have the time to sit on hold so I just hung up. That is something I'd love to address with them. It is something they can probably improve on and they can do that. I know other places do it.

American Home Shield is very timely in terms of the online submission for a claim and the company that they utilized was efficient. They didn't just come out and repair the problem but also gave suggestions or solutions. I've never experienced that with any other warranty company so that was a good thing. The technician seemed knowledgeable. It was a good experience. I've had times in the past where the technicians come out and they looked at me like I was speaking a different language when I told them what was going on with the problem. That doesn't give you a lot of confidence that it's going to get resolved if they don't even know. They act like it's foreign to them.

I have another company back in Mississippi that we're using and the experience with American Home Shield has been better than that one. American Home Shield was far superior in the ability to file a claim and get feedback on it. They were very nice about it. We could pay the $100 deductible online immediately and we don't have to worry about that kind of stuff when the contractor comes to the house. For the other one, we had to do something different than that. If I were to recommend, I would recommend American Home Shield.

My washing machine broke two months ago. I didn't have a washer for so long that after about six weeks, I had to go buy a new one. But we still waited on American Home Shield. Then two weeks ago, they said it cannot be fixed, even though it was a relatively new washer. When the tech came here, he had to replace a part and we waited weeks for that to come in. But when it came in, it wasn't the part. So he ordered another part. When that came in weeks later, he said it was not gonna work. It was not gonna be fixed and that he needed to let American Home Shield know that.

We waited a week or so and then American Home Shield got back to us and said to go buy a new washer. But it had been about two months, so we had already gone and bought one. They're supposed to refund us now for the washer that we had bought. My husband sent them the receipt a few days ago. We're just waiting to hear from them now. But it was terrible that we would have to wait weeks for a part on something that we used everyday.

The person who came from the other company to do the plumbing sent in the information to AHS and the contractors called me to say, “We're coming out to do your drywall.” So, that was seamless. The part that I had an issue with was with the plumber. It took almost a month for me to have a plumber come in here and it was not on AHS' end. It was the company's problem. They had workers who were seeing that the work was done, but they never went out to do the work. So, I asked AHS to take that company off, which was so sad, because the person who came afterward and worked did a beautiful job. But there was no way to reach this company when you're having a problem because everything goes to the voicemail. But the contractors that came out were very professional.

We live in a very remote area and one of the things that we're encountering is that people are having a hard time getting parts to our area. Poletski's came quickly, but it took them a month or more to get all the parts that were needed to repair all the appliances. Their repairman is exceptional and nice though. The only concern is the timeline, but I don't blame Poletski's and COVID because they couldn't get the parts quickly enough. They were great in terms of what they were doing, but they were hampered by the situation of the world and parts coming in time.

However, I have two other service calls that are still in the process of resolution with American Home Shield. One is interesting, and I'd like to request American Home Shield shield to follow up on it again. We had a locksmith order. They called to follow up on it, and I let them know that the job had never been finished. They said that they were gonna finish the job. We learned that the front door lock was a different brand than all of the other locks in the house, so while the locksmith was able to provide the key, he wasn't able to make the entire house one key. He was supposed to return and sell me at a premium a replacement for the automatic door lock that he wasn't wasn't able to key in the same fashion.

I ordered it and said I would pay $100 for him to bring a new electronic lock that was of the right brand so it could be made part of the key family, and he was thwarted by fire. He did a great job of calling me in August saying he lived in the Bay Area and couldn't come to Northern California due to the fires, which I understood. I asked him to come early next month when the fires are over and when it's safe but he never returned. I've never heard back from him either and I haven't had the time to track down his number and try and call him to get him to come back. Meanwhile, one of the doors and handles that he had rekeyed for us, if you turn the key and turn the handle at the same time then the handle of the door falls off. It's almost impossible to put it back, so that is not wonderful.

The worst experience I've had, though, is still ongoing and that is related to my furnace. We're waiting for a replacement to physically arrive. The first time I called in the furnace, it took a week for them to come. We also spent one week waiting on the second call. Now the third time, there was a delay in the authorization of the replacement. That process has been extraordinarily painful. Fortunately, they were able to order a furnace, but due to parts availability, from the approval to the installation, I'm still waiting. The heating company called and scheduled it for this coming Thursday. Today is Monday. The company said, "If the furnace comes quicker, we'll come quicker."

I understand that I'm in a rural place with a limited number of service people, but I don't understand why it's considered acceptable for there to be a one week delay in coming to see what's wrong with a furnace when it stops working. I've never lived in a home that didn't have heat like this. While I appreciate that American Home Shield is replacing the furnace, I am horribly disappointed over the timeframe that it has taken on every one of the repairs and the fact that we've had no heat in the home for almost two plus weeks. I find that horrific. I have two children in the house and one of them is a two-year-old.

The other experience I had with American Home Shield is interesting as well. The main water connection coming into the house failed and that was deemed not covered because it was outside of the foundation. It's surprising that a repair that rendered the house with zero water was not covered, but then I had the plumber unclog a toilet while he was here. With some machination over the fact that it wasn't the original work order, I could at least get a refund for the toilet work that got done even though I paid $400 out of pocket for the water main that comes into the house.

I have had three calls that didn't work right and two calls that did. Frankly, I still think American Home Shield offers good value. I fully intend on renewing and want to find out how to renew and buy 10 years of coverage from them because it's worth it, given repairing something like a furnace or heat. I have a 30-year-old building I bought and there's a lot of stuff that's broken. If there was any other provider that would charge the same amount of money and perform better though, I would leap.

If you submit a claim online with AHS, it's easy. The wait on the phone usually takes longer. Recently, the contractor came out for my dishwasher. It was throwing a code saying that it was leaking. He found out that the pump housing was leaking. He had to order a new piece and come in then put it in. For the most part, I have had a good experience with American Home Shield. I have a lot of friends who have experienced a lot of problems and were frustrated. The one that stands out the most for me was a problem with my air conditioner. The guy was here for three seconds and left. Then they told me they wouldn't cover it. That was my main problem and the plumber I had an issue with. Sometimes, I don't like the people that are sent. What I do is I try to call and get the people that I'm familiar with like Gimino's. They came out before. Then I had a different guy. But AHS no longer carries that guy. Then they went back and gave me Gimino's again.

The igniter on our stove cooktop wasn’t working on any of the burners and we didn't know the make of it because it was not anywhere on the top of the cooktop. So, we assumed that it was Whirlpool because our oven was a Whirlpool. Sears came out and the technician took the cooktop out to where he could finally find out which brand it was. It was a Deco. He was on time but it wasn’t a brand that they would work on. American Home Shield sent a different company who came out at about six o'clock last night. Even though the Sears’ guy has taken a picture of what brand it was and the model number, and sent it to American Home Shield, the guy who came out did not have the right part. So he was going to order it today and then contact us. He figured maybe Tuesday next week.

I'm a Realtor so I work with a representative through American Home Shield, not on a daily basis, but so I feel comfortable. If there are any issues, I usually can go through her and get them resolved. That's normally for my clients and this is the first time we've had one through her for our personal home. I usually recommend AHS to most of my home buyers. But when purchasing a warranty, it’s always a question as to whether whatever is wrong is gonna be covered. Because if it's broken, you never know what the cost involved will be to repair it or whether it will be covered. I have the information that AHS sent but as far as when we initiate the claim, not knowing what’s gonna be involved with the repair, there's nothing they can do on that because we wouldn't know ahead of time.

The contractors that came for the plumbing issue fixed the immediate problem. They had to replace the sensor element because the heater keeps going out. However, he said he was concerned because he doesn't know if how long that fix is gonna stay in place because the heater is old. He said he could already tell that it's filling up with some form of particulate. Because whenever the heater comes on and the water starts churning, there's like a cracking and popping sound going on a lot. But their job was to come out and just fix. He said that they were going to recommend that it gets replaced because the heater is pretty much on its last legs. But for their professionalism and everything they came out to do, he was absolutely fantastic.

I'm feeling good about the service of American Home Shield for the most part. I was a little disheartened only for the fact that the contractors said they were going to recommend a replacement. Because they have no doubt that they're going to get called out again very soon about it. But I was really expecting from everything he told me to possibly have it replaced. But overall I am satisfied with American Home Shield just on this particular incident. I'm just right now waiting for the heater to fully go out again.

I’m military. We also have people routinely come out and they give us free inspections on our appliances. But for the HVAC system, called twice for separate repairs and we've had a call for the microwave twice that has gotten repaired and then replaced. The warranty has been very beneficial knowing that everything is covered for the most part and that it's gonna be a lot cheaper to pay the $100 for the servicing fee and $80 a month as opposed to multiple thousands of dollars for appliance repair.

I am in the process of putting in a new refrigerator from American Home Shield. The contractors had to turn off and turn on the water supply, at which point it caused the leak. So, I needed to call American Home Shield and have the contractors come out and fix the leak before we could get the icemaker hooked up. The process of setting a claim up with American Home Shield has been easy. Whether it's online or on the phone, that's not a problem. We had three requests, three appliances went out at the same time. The control board of the oven, it took three weeks to replace it. Then, the technician came out, put it in but the new control board didn't work. So, it took him a week then to reorder the part and we still haven't heard when it's due, although the part has been reordered. We're six weeks into this trying to get it fixed.

The other thing is I realized that appliances are hard to come by right now because of the COVID. But the main problem I have with American Home Shield right now is that when I call, it takes up to two and three hours before I get somebody to talk to. If they were to say, “Give us your phone number, we'll call you back when you're the next one in line,” that's one thing. But otherwise, I have to sit on hold or I’ll lose my place in the line. I learned that if I call on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at 7 o'clock when they open, I only have a 10 or 15-minute wait. But that was before I've spent 12 hours holding for some processes of trying to get things worked through. We like American Home Shield. They've always been good. Just right now they're understaffed on their telephone answering group. At the end of the day, everything is fine. But the process is painful right now. So, I would recommend them with the caveat.

I called Home Shield and the rep did a good job. She gave me a time and date when to expect the contractor, and then, Barker Services called me. They set up an appointment, told me they couldn't make it until a certain day, and they showed up and showed up on time. The guy was respectful, professional, did the job, and did a great job and left. Excellent guy. There was a broken plumbing pipe. He fixed that and did all the plumbing, and then fixed the toilet, and installed all that. It was leaking for months. Now, there are no more leaks. I checked it on several occasions. I would definitely recommend Home Shield use Barker more often.

The only thing is, the experience is sometimes great. And then sometimes, the only overwhelming issue is sometimes getting someone on the phone. And then staying on the phone waiting, and then having to explain over and over what's going on. With this issue of the plumbing, before Barkers came, they called someone else. And that company was trying to soak me for an additional money. This is why I recommend someone else to come out. Barkers was professional about it and fixed the issue, whereas the other people that Home Shield had was an hour plus away. And then when they got here, their assessment was totally different than what I knew what was wrong with it, versus Barkers'. When they came out, they were in agreement with me versus those other plumbers that Home Shield used out of town.

In addition, Barkers' equipment was professional, whereas the other people, "Yeah. Oh, I gotta go back, and I didn't bring this tool or that tool." And then it took a lot of my time up because I had to take off work. That was an issue for me. I would not use those guys. My personal recommendation is to use someone in town that's closer because when Home Shield sent those other ones, they had to leave, and then they can't come until the end of the week. They're an hour and a half away so it made the process longer and more difficult. Other than that, the last lady from Home Shield that helped when I called in and told her what was going on was really helpful.

My most recent claims I submitted with American Home Shield were regarding my air conditioner, my faucet and garbage disposal. It was easy submitting a claim, but the problem that I had was for the air conditioner, it also needed the ductwork to be done and reviewed. I was not able to do that in one claim. So I would have to pay $75 for the air conditioner and the ductwork and I wasn't happy about that. I just did the AC. It’s either one or the other. But the contractors were very professional.

The air is working, the garbage disposal is, but the faucet, I had not heard back anything about it. Because it has low pressure in it and the technician said that he was gonna reach out to American Home Shield. So the faucet was not fixed. But AHS is great. I’ve had them for three years and I'm satisfied with the services. It's a great company to have. I would recommend them.

I recently had a re-key with American Home Shield and it was easy. The contractors messaged me through text messaging. They came when they said they would. The guy was real helpful, was in and out in 30 minutes. It was really nice. I bought the home and American Home Shield was part of what the seller purchased for us. We thought everything was included and everything was working when it was done. Then, the week before we took possession of the home, ‘cause we did a leaseback for a few days, the previous owner messaged me to tell me that the garage door broke.

When I called AHS, I explained that I thought the garage door was included but they told me that it wasn't in the package. I upgraded the package and then was asked on the call, “Do you want to put a claim in on the garage door?” I said, “Yes. If I can, that would be great.” They said, “Sure.” They went to do it and then learned that, “Oh, you can't because you didn't have this in place when you called about the garage door,” which they knew in the beginning of the call. The lady tried to help me to see if they would make any exceptions but they wouldn't. Now I'm out-of-pocket on a garage door I thought was covered, but was not. I was disappointed and frustrated. It should have been clearer that even after upgrading that I couldn't get the service. I might have waited to upgrade it.

Appliance Service was assigned by AHS to come out for the refrigerator and it was more than a week before they could get to the refrigerator. Then, it was reassigned to another company because I had another appliance that failed within the week. The oven control board went out. AHS assigned both appliances to Sears. Sears came out and fixed the stove within two days of being assigned. They diagnosed the problem, found a repair part, and installed it. I asked about the refrigerator and this technician said Sears has different technicians for different areas. For the refrigerator, it had to be a refrigerant-certified technician. Sears was three weeks out just to get someone out to look at it.

I called American Home Shield back on that and it was a 40-minute wait time to talk to another customer rep. They reassigned it to Samsung and when I called the number that they provided for Samsung, all I got was a dropbox. I called that number twice and I got the same thing. And I never received a call back for them so I think they don't do repairs. Eventually, I talked to the customer rep and it was reassigned to the original company.

The tech came out within two days to take a look at it. They diagnosed the issue and said it was unrepairable. They reported it to AHS and they sent me an email. I applied for the e-card from Home Depot and I ordered a new refrigerator. But due to the virus, there's a huge delay in shipping. It was difficult getting a contractor assigned and talking to customer service but AHS did exactly what they were supposed to do. They troubleshot my equipment, found it couldn't be repaired, and provided an avenue for a replacement.

Monday was Labor Day and a holiday, and the techs came first thing Tuesday morning, which was nice. But they turned their phones off on weekends, so I couldn't even ask them for emergency service. AHS was on top of my claim though and the fact that I couldn't get service right away wasn't their fault. After that, I had the techs out again because of a very small drip in one of the fixtures. They came out again quickly and fixed it. They were good workers. Other than that, the first situation I had with my air conditioner didn't work out very well. American Home Shield always advertised this: "Get your AC or your heater tuned up before the season." We've used that each year and it's been great. They can see if there's a problem and if it needs more of a repair, or they just clean it out so it's ready for the season.

Queen Electric resolved my electrical problem and did a great job. They're very polite and professional when they came in. But I have had a plumbing vendor that has come out and to this day, the issue has not been resolved. It started back in May and tey were supposed to replace my commode. American Home Shield said they would take care of the problem. They referred to the same vendor and he called me and canceled again and he never came back to resolve the situation.

I used American Home Shield before but I gave them another shot because my girlfriend said that she was having success with them and she had been living in this area. But there they haven't been very successful for me. For example, my air conditioner. It was hot as the dickens this summer and I could not get somebody out to repair my air conditioner. I'm a senior citizen and I have underlying health conditions. I thought I was gonna die in his house. It was just miserable. I waited and waited and asked AHS if there was something they could do. It took so long that I had to hire my own contractor to come in and install my air conditioner for me that I bought from my pocket because they didn't come. So I called AHS one morning and the rep said that I could get a refund for that. She was very nice. So I still need to send them a report now requesting a refund for my air conditioner.

American Home Shield selects the vendors that they send so I expect the, to take responsibility for their vendors. If it's a situation where I have not gotten a service since May, instead of me referring my claim to the same vendor, they should take responsibility and send another vendor to resolve the problem and pay them. Also sometimes, when I called to request service, no offense, the people couldn't understand what I was saying and I couldn't understand what they were saying. I know a lot of people are working from home but I hear strange noises in the background and stuff that's very unprofessional.

I called AHS because the person that they recommended me to couldn't come to my house for six weeks. While I was on the phone with them, they found me this new company, then they called over and said that there was an appointment the next day, so I called to follow up with them to make sure. I talked to the owner and he said that he didn't know how they said that he had an appointment that day because nobody ever called him. But that was settled and he ended up fitting me in.

He came out the next day and when he got there, he said that he was only there to fix one thing that he was told about. But I was asking him what was going on with the toilet and if he was going to fix that. He said that wasn't on his order, so I pulled up the American Home Shield request and there it was. There were two things that he needed to see about fixing. So, he went on and fixed the toilet issue because he had seen it on the paperwork. He also said that he would just be going back and forth with American Home Shield. But that was kind of interesting because at first, he said he was going to come back to do the other part. So, that was irritating.

Other than that, if I have an air conditioning problem and AHS sends someone out, if I call again, that particular company should be the same company coming out unless they're not available or there was a bad review from me about them. It shouldn't be that AHS will be the one saying that the vendor can't come so they'll pick the people who will come, especially if you have an established service with that particular air conditioning company.

The air conditioner wouldn't work at all. The guy came out, went up in the attic and talked to us. This is something that happened before and I had another company come out and repair it. That was before I had American Home Shield. There's a little relay type circuit board that runs the fan motor. That circuit board went bad. What the guy did was he had to order parts but he put a jumper in there. It turned the fan on but the only problem was that it ran constantly and never shut off. He didn't tell my wife that it was gonna do that so she was alarmed that it never shut off.

He called me on Friday and he wanted to come out but I was working at that time. We set it up for Saturday. He told me he was gonna be out there between 2:00 and 5:00. He called me back later and said he didn’t remember what time he had told me but that he was on an emergency call. I said he told me between 2:00 and 5:00. He said he'd be here in a little bit and he showed up by 5:00. He put the board in and fixed it. I’m very satisfied with the experience. The only problem I have with it was that we didn't have a time as to when the part was supposed to be in.

There was a problem with the air going on and coming off. Turning it off, the fan was making some loud noises. The contractor came out and diagnosed the problem real quick. They replaced the part and it was done. They were very professional and polite. When they left to get a part, they asked if they could come in. They asked if they could go back down the basement to where the unit was. They also cleaned up. After they left, we let it run for an hour or two, and no issues. It’s been working.

American Home Shield seems so undermanned. It takes forever to get through to them right now because they're blaming it on the virus. Their service right now sucks. I had a claim on a dishwasher and I finally ended up getting it. It took me almost a month to do it. The service guy, in fact, just got it installed this morning, so I'm happy with that part of it, but I'm unhappy with the parade to there. It took them over a week to make a decision when they knew there wasn't any parts available for my old one because it was built in the mid-90s. They knew that upfront and it took over a week for them to call me and tell me that they were gonna okay it. They gave me a sum of money to work with and then we went and got it in gear from there. But I don't know that I'm staying with them after this.

American Home Shield is a good idea. A friend of mine has it. He explained it to me and it sounded great. I'm retired and don't have tons of money to spend on a house if it needs a repair. Plumbing and electricity gets expensive. Fixing a washing machine is also expensive. I bought the policy and it worked several times already. But this time, it was annoying. My son-in-law who's living at the house told me that there was water coming out from under the sink. The gentleman who went out to see the damage said that they would have to remove the cabinet or the outside wall to fix it. He said it looks like something that I put in many years ago punctured the pipe but I don't believe that. That particular object which is a water filter has been there probably 30 years. With the exception of this last claim, I'm very satisfied.

We had a couple of options that were recommended to us by our Realtor. I did a relative price comparison and I've done my research for serviceability and customer satisfaction, and ultimately ended up winding on AHS based on the combination of those factors. But in submitting a claim, it would be nice to have the ability to edit a claim through the online portal for addition of additive services. It would be an improvement in user experience. For context, we recently had a plumber come visit that I had booked for services. Between the time of booking and their arrival, our garbage disposal stopped working as well. So I had made an attempt online to go and edit the claim to include the garbage disposal. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to do so. I called in and I was put on hold for about 40 minutes. It was understandable because of call volumes, but quite a bit of wait time.

The technician was able to add the garbage disposal. However, upon arrival, the plumber didn't see it in their initial work order, and then they themselves had to call it to their service to confirm that it was on the paper, and it was. So they were able to address it. Other than that, everything that AHS listed on their site and everything they provided their customers in their early exploratory phases was very thorough. We also had re-keying done and the technician was very professional and very thorough. He was very safe per COVID-19 protocol. So I was very satisfied.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and I've had some problems with them. This time, I was about ready to cancel. My air conditioner went out and they didn't wanna pay for that. It is covered because I had maintenance done on it two times a year. Even the folks that did the maintenance on my air condition called AHS and told them that I kept up everything I was supposed to do because they were the ones who did it. AHS was trying to say I didn't keep up my part of the contract, but I had a letter from the folks. It was Pendley and they're recommended. They're good people. After we went through a couple of rounds, I went and talked to a lawyer about it. AHS finally decided to pay me part of it. They didn't pay it like it was supposed to have been paid.

Sears came for the refrigerator and they took a long time to get here. They fixed one part and then, they didn't fix the icemaker. He had to order another part and it took about three weeks. Then he came back and fixed the icemaker. I told them before the refrigerator went out that the refrigerator wasn’t making any noise. Now, it has the roaring noise and it never had that before. I called to see if I could get them back out and see what they could do about that because the noise bothers me. The service was good. The technician came in and was very respectable. They didn't wear a mask, though. They very seldom wear one and you're supposed to have your mask on when you come in my house. But he was a very nice person.

I'm satisfied that the tech got the refrigerator fixed but I'm not satisfied about the noise that was left and with the time that it took to fix my refrigerator. I had to go buy a portable refrigerator because I lost my food and stuff in it and AHS didn't pay for it. I was without a washing machine and I had to go to the washing man to wash my clothes. AHS didn't offer to refund my money. I didn't have any hot water and I had to go to my daughter's house to take a bath. I had a hard time but I'm trying to stick with AHS because I've had them so long.

I told him what my timeframe was and he said they only do four-hour timeframes. Then, I told him I would be there in about 15 minutes and he said he could wait a few minutes but if I was not there, he would have to reschedule somebody out. He was there when I got to the house. I explained again and he said they do some two-hour windows but my schedule was from 10:00 to 2:00. I knew he wasn't right but I was able to make it there, so it was fine. Also, the service was great.

When I submit claims online, which I don't always wanna do, it's very easy. When I do it on the phone, sometimes it's very frustrating because the people that I'm talking to don't seem to understand English or speak it very well. There's a comprehension barrier. I've had several issues: number one, my dishwasher, which may have been correct by their side; number two, my washing machine; number three, the toilet. In each issue, American Home Shield claimed that the reason the appliances weren't working was because we overloaded them, which I find to be extremely funny because how do you overload a dishwasher? Me and my wife are senior citizens and we never stuff things in there. But that's what they're claiming, so I find that very interesting.

Then we have a Kohler toilet. It has two push buttons on the top, one for low flow, one for high. They claimed that when we pushed the button down, we broke the handle, the little plastic thing that did it, which was why it wasn't working anymore. Also, it wasn't shutting off so there was a flow issue. The guy has come back and he didn't see it when he was there. He said he fixed it, but I woke up this morning and it was happening again. I had to call back a different company. The guy from Spartan Plumbing walked in, whipped up the part, and fixed it. That should've been done the first time. That's what I call good customer service.

But then what's more frustrating is that I'm a realtor and I deal with a lot of older people selling and buying homes, and if I'm referring a company to them, I assume they're getting exactly the same service that I'm getting, which makes me not want to refer this company to them. They're very poor and cheap. I don't trust them anymore.

Matt’s Plumbing's technician was really fast. When he was done, I thought he would get a part. He worked so fast. I've put in three different plumbing requests. One of them was a bit sketchy, because I felt like the last one that was done was a fix for the same exact problem that I've reported before. But I didn't know how to express what was going on. This was the third visit I've had from them for different things. On the second visit, I felt I was too responsible for diagnosing my own issue. I felt they looked at exactly what I told them, even though I didn't really know what was going on. I felt like I paid for nothing on that visit. But for this last visit, they were really good. And the first time, they fixed the problem. They're very responsive. When I called them to schedule an appointment, I always get an appointment within a very reasonable timeframe.

At the time when I was looking for a home warranty company, I have other friends that are using Home Shield and they were very happy with the results. And for the most part, I have been too. Whenever I’ve had problems, it wasn't with the responsiveness of Home Shield, it was with the companies that service. For instance, I had them come out to do something about the water line in my refrigerator. I paid $75 for this man to tell me what parts to get from Lowe's and fix it myself. He didn't actually fix the problem. That was early on. I've had Home Shield for three years now. In the last year or so, I've seen a drastic improvement in the level of service I'm getting.

I've only had two questionable services. I was like, "Okay, wait a minute. If they're gonna keep coming out and telling me how to fix it, then what am I paying for?" But the last two requests I put in, the guy came out and fixed my HVAC. I woke up hot at two in the morning and put in a Home Shield request. I called them via the number I was provided, first thing in the morning, and they had somebody out by 2 o'clock. The guy came out and fixed the AC in 15 minutes. It was great service. It was the same with the plumbing from Matt’s. They came out really fast. They fixed it well and quickly.

The tech has been here several times now. I know him by name. I mentioned a couple of other things and he suggested things that I could do to improve the quality of the water and stuff like that around the house. So, that was great. I am recommending them to other people. I posted when the guy came to fix the toilets because the service was so great and how quickly I could get somebody out here. It was really good.

Ace's Garage Door Repair & Installation was fine. There's a safety beam so that the garage door goes up. Something was in the way and it wasn't aligned properly. They fixed it right away and it was great. However, I had not the best experience with the AC. American Home Shield has always been really good but for my particular problem, they acted like they never had to face this situation before which seemed a little bit weird to me. I'm a realtor and I give a lot of my clients American Home Shield coverage. It's not that I was unhappy with them. I just thought this particular situation was not resolved as quickly as it really should have been so I complained about it.

This was for an air conditioning problem which just got repaired. The repair situation went fine but getting American Home Shield to let me use the vendor that I had requested was the problem. It was really dumb. I own a rental and we had this huge heatwave about a month ago. The AC didn't seem to be working at the same time that one of the ACs at my own house quit cooling. It's a condo so I put a claim in with the condo. I got assigned a vendor and they were able to come out that same week which was fine. It turned out that we realized that we didn't need them. They had these rolling blackouts that PG&E had been doing to make sure that they were fighting the fires out here. They had done that in the areas where the condo was and the breaker got tripped. It wasn't the AC that was broken at all. It was the breaker that had to be reset.

At the same time, my AC went out in my bedroom area. I asked American Home Shield, "Can't I use the same vendor that I had been assigned to for the condo?" They told me they'd never had that situation occur, asking a vendor being switched from one property to the other. Instead, they tried to find a different vendor. They couldn't find one to cover me until the following week. It was really stupid. I could already have somebody who said that they could come to me so long as I called American Home Shield and switched the address but they couldn't seem do that. It took me a week to get that to happen. In the meantime, I had no AC. The appointment that I had for the condo went away because they couldn't change the address in time.

This went on and on and on. Luckily, I had a service rep to go to and they tried to resolve the situation. They have a conflict resolution department and they assigned somebody to me. Finally, in the end, after probably an extra week, they were able to switch over that same vendor to me because they haven't been able to find me somebody anyway. They were very slow in resolving the situation claiming that they've never had this situation before. That doesn't seem so plausible. You'd think that it'd be easy to switch from one property to the other if it's the same customer. They could change the address and give me the same vendor. They were holding the spot so that I didn't have to wait longer to have my own situation looked at. The delay was not the AC company's fault. It was really with American Home Shield that I was most annoyed with that they couldn't help me get to these folks weeks earlier so that at least the process could have been started sooner. I was put through undue distress.

Our plumber came out and threw a breaker but couldn't get it to work. He had to call an electrician because he had to do some rewiring and he was not authorized to do that. When he tried to get everything going, it blew the whole house out. They found out that the guy had wired it correctly but he had blown the main breaker. The water heater was about ready to blow. I called in the claim with American Home Shield to get somebody to replace the defective water heater. We got it all taken care of.

Quest Electric came out and their tech was very good about showing me everything he did and how he had wired it. He explained everything to me. He said that normally, when a plumber does this, they don't do it right and they would have to redo it. But he said that the electrician we had did a good job. Everything was done correctly. After the visit, everything has been working perfectly and we have hot water.

But I was not happy with the plumbing. When the initial water heater was brought out, it was the wrong one and they tried to put that it. I stopped them. It took them three weeks to get the correct one and I complained about them. I told them they need to get some better training or they need to do something because it was not acceptable to bring out the wrong product. Also, they set the old water heater on our carport and I asked them to get it off there. But they said they would have to charge me extra if they did that. I asked why as they were the ones who left it there. They said it was because they would have to make the trip, so I just said to leave it then. They left it until they came and put the new water heater in. The guy that put the water heater in for the plumbing company got their act together and the people were nice.

The request was set on 9/25/20 and up today the issues was not solved, so I hired an external plumber and he fixed the Garbage Disposal so fast with no any excuse. So I am not going to recommend either AHS nor All Clear Plumbing and drain services to any friend, AHS not follow up with their agents and their contractors. If there is less than one star I am not hesitated to rate them less than one star.

I placed a service request on 09/27/2020 due to my well pump not working properly. I called the company on 09/28/2020 and was told my request would be expedited. After being assigned a contractor who told me he no longer works for that company, I was given another vendor whose phone number was disconnected. After several call back to the company I was told I would receive a call back, I've spoken to several representatives, been spoken to rudely and hung up on, yelled at.

After several phone calls and about 8 - 10 agents I'm told to find my own vender and they will reimburse me in about 30 days since they don't have anyone to service my area. Problem being they have to approve the work before its done and I pay a for a warranty to have service provided, and they took my service fee right away. Till this day I still have the same issue on 10/09/2020 what's expedited about that service? So I'm left to find my own contractor. NOT TO MENTION BEING ON HOLD FOR 30-40 MINUTES EACH CALL. Very DISSATISFIED.

On September 23rd we have received a letter from AHS authorizing a replacement for our refrigerator since they were unable to repair it. However, the replacement offer was valid only for 10 days. Unfortunately we were not able to find and buy a new refrigerator that fast and the offer expired on October 3rd.

    1. Every day we keep calling AHS Customer Service at different numbers (800-943-9606, 888-223-3763, 888-682-1043, 888-682-1113, 888-223-3763) with no results, nobody pick up the phone sometimes for 2 hours.
    2. There's no way to talk to the supervisor or the manager, when the agent cannot solve the problem, they simply do not transfer you to the manager.
    3. There's no way to contact Customer Service via email with your questions, concerns, or issues
    4. There's no live chat with AHS Representative
    5. You cannot write a review directly on www.ahs.com, only on Consumer Affairs (which is like a flight with several stops compare to a direct flight)
    6. When agent transferred me to the department responsible for replacement, they never picked up the phone

    7. When agent promised that the manager will call me back in a couple of hours, he never did

I am a member at AHS since 2018 and over the time have requested the services several times. Never before Customer Service was that bad as now. As of today, we still cannot reach their Customer Service to get offer extension for our refrigerator replacement. Dispatch: **.

    Thanks and Regards,

I was having problems with my furnace. I called American Home Shield and they gave me a provider that was gonna come over. They called me right away and came over first time and decided it needed a new valve. So they got that right away and replaced it. The furnace is working fine now. I've always had a good experience with American Home Shield. I've had other problems in the house and have always been satisfied with the way things had gone. It's a great service.

The technician from #1 Garage Door didn’t know what was wrong. He thought it was the keypad outside so we ordered a new one. He told us to put it in but if it still doesn’t open and close correctly, then just to put back. The new keypad is not gonna be here till Friday. So, we'll try that. Unless the new keypad still is not triggering it to transport from the keypad to the inside thing, then he said to just let American Home Shield know and they'll send him back out. It might be something else but he wanted to start with that because it took a while to transmit. So, hopefully, that's all it was. The technician was very courteous and made sure he kept his distance. He was wonderful.

The only other claim we've had was our washer. It was bouncing. I put the claim in and the technician showed right up an hour later. He called me that he was in the area. He came and ordered the parts, and told me he’d call within a week. He was great and very talkative. I learned about him and his family down here. So, AHS has very nice people. We used to have Choice Warranty. We only used them one time in two years and it was the worst experience ever. So, I really like who AHS have sent. Also, the app is super easy. I am pleased so far.

Our dishwasher was filled with water and it would never drain out the water. Precision came out to look at it and found that a portion of it had been clogged. It required them to order a new piece that took about a week to come in. But when it did come in, they were able to get it all fixed up. Philip was very meticulous about everything that he did. There was a little bit of water that got on the floor when he was fixing the part when it came in and he was very kind to get it all cleaned up and left with everything looking spotless.

Now, the dishwasher is working great. So we had a really good experience with them. We really appreciated what they were able to do for us. Submitting the claim to AHS was a pretty smooth process. I was a little bit surprised to be charged for the service before I was given the service, but it wasn't a big deal since Precision did such a great job. It just wasn't what I was expecting when I submitted the claim. But I was very pleased with the overall service and the speed at which my problem was fixed.

Their tech did what was expected and told us about any possible complications that might add to the cost of the job ahead of time.

I purchased this condominium in January. The seller informed me that there were several space heaters that weren't working. I put in a ticket for it with American Home Shield. A guy from Walkowiak Electric called and scheduled an appointment. He arrived 15 minutes prior to their plan. They called though. I showed the issue to him when he got here. He did a lot. He went to the store, bought a part, and came back. He fixed everything. He was great and I’m very pleased because that was a big issue. I didn't know if it could be a fire hazard and I was really worried. But the guy said it was safe.

It turned out that the other electrician didn't even hook it up when he took the cover off. It was disappointing. I was concerned with fires but I waited until the warmer months. It wouldn't turn off so I had to use a circuit breaker to turn all of the heaters off. It wasn’t a big deal because it was 80, 90 degrees. But once September, October came and we started having some cooler nights, it was time to get that issue addressed. Walkowiak did a beautiful job. It was excellent.

Everyone should have a home warranty. How could you feel secure without it? When considering one, do your homework and read company reviews. Keep an open mind. I had a very pleasant experience with American Home Shield. Now I have a leak under the sink. The refrigerator filter needs to be changed. I can’t move that big thing and I'm gonna have to ask someone to come do that.

I've recommended American Home Shield to a close friend of mine and to my daughter as well. I explained to them my experience and the cost. Even though you will have several months with no issues, $50 is nothing compared to what you're gonna have to do if something goes wrong. Also, American Home Shield has qualified and certified people. You don't have to worry about being cheated or about some guy taking your money and you never see him again. That's a concern. They vet the people for you and you don't have to do any of that stuff.

We had a couple of leaks and when we submitted a claim with AHS, things worked like they should have with the contractor, Greenway Home Services. The techs were very prompt, called ahead of time, very professional, tended to the problem, and corrected the issue. But my rating for AHS would not be a very pretty figure right now. Our GE Profile Advantium oven, which is a $2,000 appliance, went out and their person declared it dead and needed to be replaced. But we got sent out a wrong model. This has been going on for weeks and so far, AHS has not been willing to correct that.

That was their mistake but I'm sitting here, holding the bag, at least to date. This week I finally decided to make one more call before we went and bought the correct one. I got a young man in their appliance division that promised me that he would call me back in a couple of days. But regardless of what he was able to do, I have not yet heard back from him and we're on the third day today from that. With my frustration from that experience, I would much rather not have a warranty company that has treated me like American Home Shield has. They're fixing to cost me $1800 dollars out of my pocket on top of that, aside from what I pay them every month which is enough to give me better service than they’d given me.

We've been with American Home Shield for many years and one issue I've had was that during COVID, anytime something would happen, my wait to get a hold of AHS would be over two hours. Plus, the person we would get would be overseas. There is no phone number to corporate and there was no way of getting any type of local through Tennessee. It is very disappointing. There was a time when we had a bad leak. AHS's techs came out but the time I spend on hold has to change. I had the same problem when our air conditioning went out. The temperature was three digits and the people at my place have underlying health conditions.

I've heard other horror stories from others but once I'm happy, I'm gonna stay. We don't plan on going to a different company. Most recently, we had a plumber come to our place and he made holes. We then needed a drywall guy to come out. AHS set up an appointment with a company with whom my husband spoke with. They scheduled a meeting but then the tech never showed up. When my husband called that company back, the tech said that he was not coming 'cause he is out of business. We had to go for someone else and AHS scheduled somebody. Dan's Pro-Lock came to our location as American Home Shield's contractor and the tech from there was phenomenal. He was so respectful and I would have him back at my home in a heartbeat. It took him two days to do the job but he was extremely thorough. He did a wonderful job and we loved him. He did our drywall for us.

I had three problems with my pool - an electrical problem, a pump problem, and a heater problem. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for all three of them. I wish AHS would let me use my own contractor. I have people who come out to our pool and they're used to it. AHS won't let me use those people because they're not one of their vendors. The people they have coming to work on my pool are coming out of Dallas which is 75 miles drive away.

I've been with American Home Shield since 2016. It came with the previous house we purchased and I was completely satisfied with everything that they did for us. Some of their contractors have been good while others have been bad. Things have been functioning well since their contractors came. My son bought his house last November and I told him to make sure he has Home Shield included with his purchase. In the long run, the warranty is worth it and it gives peace of mind. He had been in his house for about three weeks and his washer went out. AHS ended up replacing his entire washer for him. I upgraded to their premium plan in August.
