The heat was on but it wasn't producing heat. Submitting the claim with Home Shield was intuitive and easy to do. I submitted the claim online, but then they followed up with me on the phone and we were able to get somebody out here the next day. Fast Response Heating & Cooling was professional, especially regarding COVID. They were very knowledgeable about the issue, went above and beyond to explain all kinds of scenarios, expressed a lot of detail about follow-up as needed, and made sure that I understood exactly what he was trying to communicate. Everybody's warm here in the house. We’re good to go.

I did a heating and cooling claim for the winter update. The service contractor came out, did whatever they had to do, and they were on their way. I've also had some claims on my washer and dryer, and my stove twice. Everything seems to be running fine. It's good to have AHS on the home because to pay $75 for the people to come out and check everything is definitely worth it. Without it, I'd probably pay a lot more for somebody to come and check and do the things that they've done for my appliances.

My furnace wasn't working. I went on the American Home Shield website and clicked on the choices. The process was easy and it took 30 seconds. A technician came in and looked at the problem. But he didn't do a good job and didn't fix the problem. I was still missing heat. A second guy came and he was excellent. It took a month but my unit is fixed. Since the repair, my furnace has been working every day. I am happy with American Home Shield so far.

I had my furnace serviced for the year. Other than waiting forever on the phone to talk to somebody at Home Shield, the claim worked out really well. Cozy Comfort Heating and Cooling came out and the tech did a really good job. He was a very pleasant person and it was a good experience.

In July, American Home Shield sent people out to service my AC. They were called back out in September, which was within the 60 days, and they re-serviced the unit. They were then called back out because the unit went out again and they serviced the unit. They were called back out last week or the week before and they serviced the unit again. They came back the next day and re-checked everything. They could not find anything wrong with the unit. Overall, the technicians came out in a timely manner, addressed the problems each time, and did their best to correct it. Right now, everything is working like it's supposed to.

The tech from Class A Services was great. He's very professional. He did what he needed to do, and he was done. He cleaned up after himself. Then, he called PSO, and they came out and did an inspection, and then it was done. I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. My mom is older and the house is older, and she's been there over 40 years, and things happen. When we've called to get things done, we've not had any problems with American Home Shield. They’ve always came and done what needed to be done without any issues. Calling on the phone is a long process. Sometimes, you might be on the phone for hours waiting for somebody to pick up. But then, once they told us about going online to do it, that's better. It's way much better than just calling in. Going online is really simple.

American Home Shield had a special where they had someone come in and kind of go over my heating system. Everything went well. We also had somebody come out because water was not coming out of the spigot in the front and the back of the house. Come to find out, there was something we were supposed to turn inside. Another time we used them was for the outlets in each bathroom that didn't work. Come to find out, it was because in one of the bathrooms, they had to replace some kind of a safety mechanism. Once that got replaced, the outlets worked. All of those things were minor and were taken care of in a timely basis.

A repairman had come out and look at my stove. He had to order the part, got approval, came back 10 days later and did the job. He was nice and was protected. He had his mask on. He was excellent. American Home Shield also was excellent because the other people that I got before, they sent somebody out here that I don't even think he knew what he was doing. I had a co-worker who told me who they had that's why I thought I’d sign up with American Home Shield. But the thing about them is the price went up for like 10 bucks per month. I can't afford that so I'm just gonna cover my appliances. They suck you in then they raise it up and I don't like that.

My recent claim with Home Shield was just a regular checkup before the winter. The guy from Airmax came in and was professional. He checked out our heater, a different filter was adjusted from the one that I had, and that was it. It went well.

The technician came out to redo the locks, per the offer. The claims process was easy. I was just a little disconcerted by the amount of time. He was busy and I understood that, but we didn't get a call back until almost a week. However, he was very good, nice, and patient. He gave me a lot of explanation which was nice because I'm not a locksmith by trade. He also did a little extra work for us beyond what would normally be done We had a little extra thing that we wanted to be fixed, which he did, and then he did extra keys for us. I was happy. It's nice taking the worry out of things and that's what I'm looking forward to. We've had five homes in our lives and I find a lot of peace of mind having American Home Shield.

Home Shield was the one that was offered when we bought that house. I liked all of the things that they covered. I decided to keep it after my one for a year just in case something would come up, which I have used several times. It's very convenient. My experience so far has been great. They've been able to help with anything I have ever called for.
The outside outlet was not working. We just sold our house. It came up on our action sheet that we had to get the outside outlet fixed. I went online and did the request service through the website. I then got an email right away saying I would be contacted within 24 hours. I got contacted the next morning. The contractor was great. He came on time and answered all my questions. He helped. I never use that outside outlet. But I'm sure it's gonna be very helpful for the people that just moved in.

My uncle recommended American Home Shield. He's used them for a while and he's had good service in his area. I signed up and the guy that came out for the AC was great. He was in and out of here in an hour. I submitted the claim on a Friday day and I had a call booked by Friday night. They were out here Monday so it was a really quick turnaround. I had a much better experience with him than I did the previous company American Home Shield dispatched.
I can't fault the contractors totally 'cause I think American Home Shield, as a company, shares the blame in what was like two months of suffering with a broken air conditioning during the hottest summer on recent record. American Home Shield said that they had to ship a Lennox part and they wouldn't let them just go to the one that's here where I live and pick up the part 'cause American Home Shield had one in some warehouse somewhere. They sent it and that took two weeks. Once it got here, the AC company said it was not the right part. It took another week and a half for them to ship the right part. The company wasn't too bad other than I think they made some mistakes. I had to have an AC buddy that does that work on the side come over here and clean up some of their mistakes.

I started with American Home Shield because we were renting from somebody who had AHS. We had a leak in our hot water heater, and our dishwasher messed up. Both of them were quick services, so we used AHS when we bought our house. My most recent claim was my electricity. I had some lights that were going out, then flashing and coming back on. I've had one for my microwave, too. All I had to do was call and they arranged somebody to come out. That person called me and we set up a time for them to come out. The contractor was great. He listened to what I said was going on because there were three different sockets. Then, he worked on each one of them at a time. I had my microwave fixed, too, and it took one visit.

I've been happy with Home Shield. The longest that I had to deal with was I had no air conditioning and the longest we had to go was four days but they had it fixed. Then, we had an electrical claim when part of the house lost power. The tech from Omega found where the issue was and was able to fix and restore power to one side of the house in one visit. He also noted some other issues but because I'd only done the claim for that one part of the house, it was the only thing that he was able to fix. He said they would let me know if they're gonna agree or allow the rest of the fixes and I haven't heard anything.

I had an issue with the breaker box and R&R Electrical swapped that out. The gentleman knew what he was doing and he got the job done. And I’m thankful. I'm not good at that electrical stuff and in my head, I was trying to figure out what to do, and then I realized that maybe my insurance would do it. It worked and the gentleman who came out did an awesome job. In the past, when I was going through some issues concerning a plumbing issue, I had to pay American Home Shield but the guy didn't do any work. But that's the only kinda bad experience that I had. I got beat out of my money. Dry Max is a very bad company, from the experience that I went through with them but I like AHS. I'm alright with it.

The contractor came and ordered the parts that they assumed were bad. When they arrived, they came and installed them but it didn't make any difference. The freezer still wasn't working. They came out again and ordered more parts. They said they got the approval from American Home Shield to repair it rather than replace it. The compressor just arrived yesterday but some of those things never arrived. I talked to them this morning and they said there's still one more part to arrive then they'll schedule a repair. They kind of misdiagnosed it but maybe that happens sometimes. It's been a couple weeks altogether and we had to throw out a few hundred dollars’ worth of food. But the guy wore a mask and was friendly and professional.

One of our tubs in our restrooms was clogged up and the plumber fixed the problem. I submitted the claim on a Saturday night and he was here by Monday. It was fast. Everything’s okay so far with American Home Shield but the coverage is limited on certain things. What’s covered and what’s not is in the contract, but I wish they'd cover a little more like on the electrical overload problem that I had recently as well as on the AC. Somebody just came to add more of the Freon. AHS covered $9 and then, we gotta cover the rest, which was pricey. But I always recommend AHS to my friends. A close friend of mine got it not too long ago. My sister was the one who recommended it to me. I'm very happy with it.

It's been a smooth process as far as being able to open the claim online with AHS and pay the co-pay. It's 75 bucks for each open claim, and then have the whole schedule booked online. So there's very little phone interaction or need for me to go and schedule a time frame that works for me. I select what's available and it's booked, and then they confirm it through text messages.
Recently, I had a dead outside condenser on my air conditioner that Total Air Care came out to check up on. The guy was great. He came out promptly. He called me when he was on the way and said, "I'm 45 minutes away." He showed up on time and was friendly. We chatted for a while. The best part that I liked was when he found the problem, he showed me exactly what the problem was, what he replaced, and what went bad, to explain how it led to the outside condenser dying, and then tested it out with me, showed me that it was working, double-checked to make sure that was blowing cold air. I had a great experience just chatting with him. He was thorough and fixed it the first time. The price was right too. I couldn't have asked for a better experience short of the system not breaking to start with.

The hot water tank was backing water everywhere. Choice Plumbing Heating & AC gave me a specific date when they would come and their guy came. I've seen him tow the water heater by himself, he did it all by himself, and he did it all in one hour. I've seen that when people put in a hot water heater, they normally take three to four hours, sometimes longer. I had never seen it done like what he did. I was really amazed. I had a heat pump issue. The service people that came out were very thorough. The problem persisted. I went online and gave another service request. The same people came back the next day and were able to resolve the issue. But I got an email from American Home Shield saying I owed another $75. I called customer service and they explained that that kinda just automatically happens and that I did not owe it. Hopefully, that reflects that way on my account. The service I got this time was exceptional. They were very timely in contacting me to schedule the appointment. They were able to come the same day, both days, because I put in the service request at night, they called me the next morning, and came the same day. I was very pleased with that. That's not historically been the type of service I've received from American Home Shield.
I've had it for 20 years so originally when it was like 30, 35 bucks, it was such a bargain, and they were fast and efficient. Then, I don't really love having to pre-pay upfront, but it's the only way I will get any service, so I'll have to. For a while, I felt like American Home Shield customers were viewed as the bottom of the bunch. When the providers got finished with their other real customers, they would get to us. That's what I had feared last week when my heat pump acted up but I was happy that that was not the case. American Home Shield is not as budget-friendly as it used to be, but at least, I know what I'm paying when I make that service call. I bought an older property so I knew it was something that I needed. There are some years I paid for it all year and then don't use it at all so that's frustrating. But it's like insurance.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

We have had American Home Shield for just about three weeks now and I have submitted two claims. I submitted another one this morning. The customer service reps have been great and the technicians have all been wonderful. We had to wait for a part to be ordered on one of them but it came in the next day. So, it wasn’t much of a wait, which was good because it was the hot water heater. I was leery of AHS to start with but it has been good. I’ve had no problems. They get a tech out here the next day after putting in a claim. In one of them, I had to replace the microwave because it couldn’t be fixed. It was so old. We've had such a terrible experience with American Home Shield. We want to use them and we’ve used them for a few years now but it’s gotten to the point where the customer service is well below par. We’re having a lot of trouble getting things assigned to people that know what they’re doing.
We have a leaky pipe in our basement where we keep a bucket under it for over three weeks now because they get a different person to come in and say they don’t handle it. I needed a plumbing company or an air conditioning company, and whoever they kept sending said it wasn’t their job. We’ve gone through three or four times of it getting reassigned. We kept trying to call and say, “Can you please assign a different company because they think it’s not their job?” Each time we call, it seems like someone somewhere in Asia is taking our call. We either get hung up on or eventually they get started on what they could do or they say they’re gonna reassign it and reassign it to somebody different but we get the same person. They reassigned somebody again today and we’re hoping that’s gonna work.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

When I first got American Home Shield, my dishwasher went out, and they couldn't replace the part, and I did. I sent a receipt in. I've been in an accident, so I hadn't been home for a while and I was never reimbursed. It’s two years ago now. It was right after I bought the contract. I didn't expect them to fully compensate me for the replacement because it wasn't cheap. I got a good one. But I expected at least the value of the GE that had been in there. I normally just go online so I don't have to call and wait for a long time. I was only there for part of our recent claim. My wife was present for majority of the time and I came toward the end, and I thought Axis Appliance Repair's tech did a good job. The microwave works perfectly. I used it this morning before work. However, there have been some hiccups with some other contractors that Home Shield sent in for some other jobs that I've had.
I had to get with AHS on an AC repair. They sent out a contractor, and then I wasn't pleased with the work that he did and had to call AHS back and I told the rep not to send that same contractor out again. And they said, "Okay. Well, we'll send a new contractor, but it depends on the level of the repair this time. If it's something serious, we're gonna have to send that same contractor back out." But when they sent the new contractor out, he said, "Oh, yeah, it's simple." The guy just crossed up a wire. My thermostat wasn't working, and the repairman they sent from the first contractor wired it wrong when he put it back together.
I have installed a Nest thermostat myself, and I'm no expert, and that was very easy. You splice three wires and make new holes in the drywall and install the plate. It's a 10-minute job. If there's a guy who does AC work for a living and he can't put wires in the right place to install a thermostat, there's a problem.Other than that, Home Shield has been very reliable and for the most part, beneficial. This is the second house that I have used them on.

I had a cooktop that there was a problem with a while back and it was replaced. Partly with that, I had accepted the cooktop, and then the girl on the phone told me once I accepted, it's mine. I had a little issue getting it installed because the measurement was off a little bit and the support underneath was lacking and the people who were trying to install it said that they were afraid to install it with the support not being there. So, I had a granite company come out to try to add support and that was a problem there. But I ended up replacing the entire countertop, and then this cooktop went right in and it was perfect. I really love my cooktop. It was on an island, so it was not a large cabinet area, so it worked out fine. It cost me a little money, but in the long run, I'm happy about it.
The guys that American Home Shield provided to do the install were great. Their rep told me though that their contractor already came out and my issue was something else. I told her that I still have a leak in some other toilets. So, AHS's tech came out again and he said he had to order some parts or call their service department.
What drives me crazy about American Home Shield and gets me thinking whether I'll cancel my service with them is that their contractors rig something and then I have the same issue three or four months later and I call AHS again. Then, it'll be another 100 bucks when they gotta send somebody else out. It looks like a band-aid is being put on my issue and the job is not getting done. So far, I'm not sure if my money has been worth it with AHS. I pay them a monthly service fee and I also pay them $100 every time a contractor comes out. By the time I've done all that, I could've had a regular plumber come out.

There was a leak on the top of the water heater and the technician came out and handled the job very quickly. He was very knowledgeable. He did a really good job. I was impressed with him. The claims process is fairly straightforward. But at one point in time, I did have a little bit of challenge on the app. I don't know if it was because I didn't have the most updated version, but it took me in a loop at one point in time.

American Home Shield put the ticket in and Universal 1 called me. The only problem I had with Universal 1 was when they first came out, the guy said the problem was that I needed my vents cleaned. He said that was why the dryer wasn't coming on. I had them cleaned and paid for that but it still wouldn't come on. The first guy that came out to my home didn't do anything. The second guy that came out said I needed a new motor. The first guy could have said that and I would have had my dryer fixed by then. They're ordering the part and it will be like another two weeks. I was also out of refrigerator for the whole summer but it wasn't American Home Shield. It was Whirlpool. I just got my refrigerator in September and they came out and looked at it on June 22nd. But American Home Shield is great. I've had them for years and I love them. I got my sister to get American Home Shield and it's been great for both of us.

They told me by message that I will get a call about it. However, I did not get respo.

AHS has been good for us when it came to getting our AC fixed and our plumbing looked at, but I've been very disappointed with our recent experience. On Sept 12 our oven broke, I put in the service request and someone came over, looked at it for a few minutes and told us they were ordering parts that might take 2 weeks to get here. One of the parts arrived about 10 days later, but 3 weeks after the first person came over, we hadn't heard anything. I called and was told another part hadn't come. Fast forward to today, we still don't have an oven that works and I spoke to a representative yesterday that we might have to wait until Dec 4 for this part to arrive.
I think the most frustrating thing for us has been the complete lack of proactivity on AHS's part. An oven is a standard appliance. To not have one for 2 weeks was an inconvenience, but now we're facing 3 months without one and AHS never reached out to us to give us an update or offer any solutions or accommodations. It was just silence until I called, and then when I did, I was just told we have to wait. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Updated on 10/22/2020: I had reviewed AHS yesterday and immediately received a notification from AHS that I would receive a call to resolve this matter. After waiting 2 months for my refrigerator to be repaired so I was heartened I maybe able to talk to someone who would resolve my issue. Over 24 hours has passed and I haven’t heard from anyone. I am very disappointed. I am re reviewing because I have no other option. Phone calls I have made almost daily do not work.
Original: I have had American Home Shield for years. It works fine until it doesn’t. I have a GE Monogram Refrigerator that “died”. On Aug 28, 2020 a GE tech came out and ordered 8 parts are that are needed. Gradually 6 of the parts have come in but 2 parts are still on backorder. Each week the date the part may be in gets pushed back. It went from 9/11 to 10/5 to 10/28/ to 11/5 and now 11/30. I have tried multiple times contacting AHS. I keep getting the same people in the Philippines which is where the call center is located. Very long wait times. Very nice people, hard to understand but they have been no help at all and there is no follow up. They claim they can’t get a hold of GE for updates. So I have been contacting GE and they won’t let me talk with the technician.
I am ready for a cash payout so that I can get a new refrigerator. GE says AHS needs to contact their technician and AHS says the GE tech needs to contact AHS. Both services claim to have left e mails and voice mails and they can’t move forward with the pay out until the technician tells them it is not repairable. I just went online to order a new Monogram refrigerator without getting the AHS issue resolved. I will deal with them later. I am now told that the new Monogram Refrigerator is also on back order until at least Oct 28. I am hoping to have a refrigerator before Thanksgiving. What are the odds at this rate??? There is no way to email AHS it is all done on the phone. No matter what department I try to reach with multiple phone numbers I get routed back to the same call center. To be fair though I have had great service in the past provided the repairman has the parts in hand.

Troy from National Platinum was very nice. My machine was clogged up and the people from the other company weren't interested in fixing it. They said "Well, you need to request different contractors because if you need a new one, then you save steps that way." There's also a computer on my machine, and you have to hit certain numbers to run the diagnostics, which runs it through everything. The guy didn't run the diagnostics on it and he didn't call LG either. On the other hand, Troy ran the diagnostics and he said he couldn't figure it out. I said, "It's like a sensor or something on it is clogged up." because it didn't really dry. He called LG and the representative told him what to do. Lo and behold, the blower motor was packed full of lint, so he cleared it out.
My hands are a lot smaller than his and I said, "Let me get in there.” I got more lint out and then my little shot back got some more. Troy then put my machine back together and it was all good. National Platinum is a good company versus whoever. Sears gave me a window of opportunity between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. I said, "What?" and then they said, "Well, you can call in the morning and they'll give you an estimated time." I texted them and they said, "Around 2:00." 2:00 came and went, and around 3:00, I asked where the guy was. They said, "Oh, he's not gonna be there between 4:00 and 5:00." I wouldn't want Sears to come back. I know American Home Shield doesn't have control of the contractors, but I'd definitely request the Platinum guy next time.
American Home Shield fixed my machine, but I don't know what it's gonna be like if my machine was broken. Are they gonna give me the runaround? My neighbor also has them, and he's been waiting since February for a new washing machine because it was broken. He had a home warranty when he purchased the place and he waited and waited. He went out and bought one and said, "Give me the check," versus having American Home Shield.

Home Shield usually does a service in the spring for the air conditioning and in the winter for the furnace. There was a notice on the Home Shield website that they were doing the service. I liked the offering and the alert. Home Shield sends out an email saying, “It’s time for your air conditioning to be checked.” And we got that service. And just to get online to schedule it, I like that a lot. Air Max came out and checked the furnace. They made sure that it was working properly for the winter season. The tech came, did the service, then wrote up something saying what he did.
I’ve had American Shield for a while now, and I have no problem with them whatsoever. When I ever needed them for any kind of service, not just having the air conditioning or the furnace looked at for the winter service, even when I’ve had something broke and they need to come out and fix it, they’re usually pretty prompt. I’ve always liked their service. I’ll probably stick with them until whenever.

The guy did a good job for the re-keying. However, I had a contractor come out to do two service calls but they said that they couldn't fix it. I had to call in and find out what they were gonna do about it but nobody ever got back to me. I'm waiting for an answer from them on the microwave. I've been told they're gonna replace it but I haven't got the final authorization yet. I thought I did last week but they put me on hold and never got back to me again. So, today, I called and they said they're still waiting to hear that it is authorized to replace it.
The service people do what they can. They are good. It's the resolution of problems that’s a pain in the butt. When you're trying to deal directly with their headquarters to resolve an issue, it's a bunch of hoops you got to jump through to get anything to happen. They could make that easier than they do currently. Doing the service requests online was fairly simple although the "other" category doesn't give you anything that you can put in there to say what the other issue is. But typically, American Home Shield gives you a box to type in what the problem is.

American Home Shield's claims process is based on what item you're processing because they break it down into different categories. They got an oven, they got a stove. So sometimes, you don't know what to put in. I just put in an electric oven when I submitted my claim. The same guy got here. He had been here back in November of last year with the same problem with this oven. So, he was familiar with it. He didn't do anything. My husband said he stipulated that it came on, so they turned it off. But right after they went out the door and everything, I turned the oven on and it didn’t come on. So, I called the guy right away and told him that the oven didn’t come on. We had to get a new one because they no longer sell the parts for it.
With American Home Shield, it takes so long to get things done but I’d recommend them to friends. If they send people out here, they’re trusting that these people are going to do what they’re supposed to do. They don’t know that the company didn’t do what they were supposed to do if you don’t communicate and let them know. I called and told them that I haven’t heard anything from the first company that was here. They first sent Sears. It had been almost two weeks.
They said, “You haven't heard nothing?” The woman was very nice. She put me on hold. She started researching. She called Sears, and she said, “Okay, this is what we're gonna do. We're gonna get somebody else out there.” She got Appliance Plus to come out. The guy took his time and did what he needed to do to get this part because I needed my oven that Saturday, and I didn’t have it. So, I had to cancel what I was doing.

He called before he got here, wore a mask and practiced social distancing. My washer has been working great since. I really appreciate American Home Shield. My mother told me about their service and being a new homeowner, appliances break here and there. It's nice to have something so I don't have to go out and buy a full brand new washing machine. They checked out the systems and everything was looking really good. They were very polite, courteous, and on time. We also had somebody out because we thought we needed to seal our sump pump in the basement. My house is a multi-family house. So, the basement has potential where it can completely close off and have it as a separate rental. Then the garage has been converted into an apartment. When I first got with AHS, I was having an electrical issue in the apartment, and they wouldn't cover it because they said it wasn't under the foundation of the main home. Well, it's an attached garage, but it's attached by a breezeway. And so, if it wasn't under the exact same roof, they wouldn't cover it. I had two years with them and I cancelled my second year because of that. If they're not gonna cover the entire property, then I feel like they shouldn't be saying that they will. That is part of the property, and it was listed when I bought it as part of the property. I was disappointed about that because they're not covering anything in that apartment at all.
AHS redeemed themselves with the furnace issue. About May, June, we started having problems with it. First, it was a blower motor, and then it was burning up switches, and then it burned out control panels. It went through three control panels. They finally decided that there was something internally that was causing the problem, 'cause it kept blowing all this newer equipment they were putting in it, and decided to replace it, which I knew was very expensive after they put in probably enough money in parts to replace it the first time around.

We had a refrigerator before and we had a problem with it. It was also when we first started having American Home Shield. The refrigerator broke and they replaced it in 2016. This 2020, at the beginning of this year, the icemaker started making a terrible noise, like the gears were grinding or something in it, and it kept on shutting off the icemaker. I also noticed that it wasn't cooling the refrigerator down. Then it got worse and worse. I called American Home Shield and they sent a guy out that said the compressor was bad. It's one of those LG compressors that are bad for everybody. He called AHS and they gave him the okay that day. He ordered that and the icemaker as well. The refrigerator is kinda tight where it is. He wore a mask, he was very cordial, fantastic, and he explained everything. He got everything taken care of and set up.
Then about a week later, the parts were delivered to our house and the contractor contacted AHS that day. There were two guys that came out the next time and put the stuff in because it was quite a bit of work. They called me and said when they were coming. I had to wait a little longer for the first claim, but that was okay, too, because it was my microwave, and it wasn't a tragedy not to have my microwave working. I understand that the company that was scheduled to do that also responds to refrigerator issues, and that's more pressing. It was a week before they came out and checked out the microwave. American Home Shield is good for minor repairs like the dishwasher not working good or a water leak. They did replace the water heater. But I had issues when it came to the AC. I was away on vacation, came back, realized the AC wasn't working and I called it in that same day. I got it in a Saturday. I understand that nothing can be done over the weekend, but they were giving me the runaround for about four weeks. I got two kids and with the Florida heat, we had to move out of the house. They kept telling me because of COVID, everything was running a little bit slower. I came to find out that my unit had the old-style of refrigerant. It was a Freon instead of the new regulation, which apparently is no longer allowed in Florida.
This wasn't the first time with the AC unit. Previously, I had been requesting service and I kept getting a leak. Apparently, the drainage wasn't working well. They would come out and say they repaired it, but three days later, the same leak was happening. I told them I had water damage, my drywall was getting mold from that and I said, "Listen, the people you're sending in are not doing their job. If the job would've been done right, it wouldn't have kept on leaking." Once they came back, the AC wasn't working. They did come out, inspected it and said, "Okay, there's one part that's not working. We're gonna order it." That took about a week to 10 days for them to get it. Also, I was calling, and every time that I would call in, I would never get the same person. Every person would tell me, "Yes, we're gonna put it on file. We're gonna get back to you." If I didn't call, I never got a response.
They came back out again with a part. They said, "Okay, this is not working." Apparently, it was the compressor. I said, "Listen, I was told there was damage because it was an electrical storm, so that must be it." They said, "We have to order it. We'll let you know when it's gonna come." I told them, "Listen, I had to stay in three different places because I couldn't stay in the house."
Other than that, I had some vinyl tiles that were put up on a wall that started to come off. A lot of other things started to come off because of the humidity damage inside the house. Still, the person I spoke to told me about ordering that compressor. I kept calling every other day or almost on a daily basis to see when that part would come in. All that they could tell me is like, "We don't know. It's been ordered. We'll let you know." That never happened. I got to the point where I was three weeks in without an AC and I didn't know if my homeowner's insurance covered that sort of incident until I finally called my homeowner's insurance. They resolved it within four days.
I had to go through my homeowner's insurance instead of a warranty that I'm paying for. Previous to that, with the same problem with the AC leaking, I had called it in about six times and got to the point where they said, "We're gonna cancel your policy because you've made too many claims." I said, "Listen, I'm making claims because your contractor is not doing his job. If they would've done the good job initially, I didn't have to call six other times." In that sense, I'm not satisfied with them.
They say if they can't fix an issue, they'll put in a new one or something of similar value or quality. That's never happened. The contractors keep coming out and they keep charging American Home Shield. I pay a one-time fee until it's fixed. With my dishwasher, which was another incident couple of years ago, they came out about four times. The dishwasher went probably $500. That was not even counting the parts that were replaced until they found what was wrong with it. They came out four times and brought three different parts. It would've been paid off for initially if they would've just replaced it. It's not my money going out of my pocket, but my $100 deductible. It's not a big deal but in the long run, they ended up paying more than it would've cost them just to actually replace it.

I really had a horrible experience. My toilet overflowed and I had water all over the floor. I called American Home Shield and got an agent in the Philippines. He scheduled someone to come in and it was on a Thursday or Friday. But I needed immediate help. He gave me the contractor's number so I called the company. They told me they could not come out because they were closed over the weekend. I called AHS back and got another agent from the Philippines. This gentleman this time said, "We have 24 hours. We do not have to be there." I told him that the water was all over the house, down in the hall, and the carpet. I needed someone immediately to tend to the water issue.
At this point, the toilet was not running anymore. The agent just said he was sorry. He was arguing with me, telling me what the policy was, and too bad that this is how it is. If the contractor can't come out until Monday then that was their right to do that. I stopped and told him to cancel the order. I said, "So let's just start over. I need you to get on the phone and find someone that is open today. And I wanna put another order in." To me, that was the most ridiculous thing. I'm very upset with the calls going to the Philippines. They are not good at all. I told this man, "You are horrible. Are they recording this? Because I wanna report you when the office opens back on Monday morning."
We got another company and a gentleman came out that Friday night. The toilet started running like that again and the gentleman is scheduled to come out again tomorrow because the company said they send the same technician that did the initial work. But if they didn't solve the problem the first time then maybe a different technician should be sent out like a person that has different skill set.

There's a little kick in the heat when before, I had to turn my thermostat a little higher.

When the coronavirus issue came in, some of my friends had issues with delays or late responses. For me, the response was quick. American Home Shield designed that we can submit the request online and I went through that process. I used the website when I had an air conditioning issue. They scheduled a visit and everything went through smoothly. The contractor was professional and they did a great job. Because the unit was old, it was decided that it would be replaced with a new one. Part of that was the coil issue. They communicated with American Home Shield and they told us that AHS approved 700 and some dollars for the coil. The remainder, I paid. I’d definitely recommend AHS, especially for old houses. It's a peace of mind.

We've had American Home Shield for several years and we've had good experiences. When we were having issues with our hot water heater, we filed the claim through the website. I've used it before and it's user-friendly. We got a text saying who will come, and they'd be there within 24 hours. I was contacted within 24 hours. High Priority Plumbing then came and they were very good.

The faucet lost pressure and it went from one day being fine to the next day with barely drips. I couldn't figure out what was going on and I got scared that there was a leak somewhere. I filed a claim with AHS and Royal Plumbing's tech came out to deal with the issue. He took a look at it and found out that there was debris that was coming from inside of the faucet that was clogging up the thing that you put in where the water flows out of in the faucet. He was able to rectify that and we were good to go.
Once he cleared it and checked to make sure that it flowed fine, and it did, he left. But about an hour later, the same thing happened. So, he had to come back out and when he did, he took the whole thing off so that I could get the proper filter to rechange that. It was a filter that as soon as it would get clogged up again, he detected metal was coming out from it. So, that was the clog and God forbid you drink that and don't even realize that you're drinking metal.
Other than that, the tech was excellent and better than the last place that came out to help me. He was also very professional and didn't talk down to me. He explained to me and showed me the metal that was coming out and what the problem was so that I felt more comfortable, than somebody just saying that it's too deep and he didn't want to talk to you about it. That happened to me before with other places where they talked down to me. But with the recent tech that came out, I had a really pleasant experience.

I had three claims with Home Shield in the last six months. One was the garbage disposal was leaking water underneath the sink. The guy was very knowledgeable. He came in, I told him what I had done, he tried to get it working again, but then I noticed it leaking. He saw the rust and where it had been leaking and the bowl I put underneath. Home Shield said, “No problem. It needs to be replaced because it is leaking from the unit itself.” The guy said he had one on the truck, took it out, and put the new one in. Home Shield stopped the leak. They also dealt with a leak in another toilet and I just had a new furnace and air conditioning unit put in by them. Many of the contractors that come out are contractors for other home warranty companies. I always ask their unbiased opinion on which one they think is the best because I've read where some pay a little more for other things. So far, everyone said Home Shield is the best.

The amount we have to pay went up. But usually, when I have a problem, I call Home Shield or go online, and they're responsive. They get right back to me with the contractor that's gonna do it. Recently, the tech was very good and professional, introduced himself, and wore a mask. He checked the unit out and said, “Yeah, it looks like it's a fan motor, and we're gonna have to order one.” He ordered it, and as soon as it came in, they called me and set up to come right out. It took a little longer than I would have hoped. Four or five days.
The only issue I have is some of Home Shield's contractors come out of Orlando. I live on the East Coast. That's how I found the air conditioner guy because the first guy out of Orlando never contacted me. I would call there twice but they would never pick up. Finally, I called and got a representative there. I told her, “Look, this is crazy. Do you have anybody locally?” Of course, she doesn't know the geographics of the area. I said 32901 area code. And she said, “Oh, yeah, we've got the one in Palm Bay.” I said, “Well, that's what we need. Somebody local. Not an hour away.” Because it’s not worth it for them to drive an hour from Orlando, here, and then an hour back, they have two hours’ worth of time. They could be making money somewhere else. There has to be a mechanism that they know what area code we’re in.

I have a plumbing contractor that came out that I'm gonna have to call. This was quite a few months ago. He did nothing. I have a toilet that is very slow and not flushing the way it should. Fortunately, it's in a guest bathroom that I don't use a lot. So I've just let it go with the COVID thing, but I'm gonna have to get it fixed and he didn't even run the snake down. He said, "Oh, that won't do any good." I said, "How do you know it's not flushing?” “It's bubbling down." I wasn't happy with him. With American Shield, I've been very happy with them. I need to put in a claim for another one. Because they were nice, they looked at it while they were here. Essentially, when you would flush the toilet, you'd hear a vibrating sound in the wall. It didn't happen that day coincidentally while they were here, it's happening again now. So, we need to get them back out here. But for what they were looking at, it was great.
In the past, we had a Samsung dishwasher, that someone needed to come look at, and it took a little while. So, we were having to clean everything by hand, which, wasn't the best-case scenario. But for the most part, if it's a general plumbing need, electronic needs, AHS has been great. It's been a great experience to the point where we just renewed a few weeks ago.

Brunswick took care of the problem that I had. The first person that came out really didn't investigate it properly. He just kinda cleaned the coils and just said that that was all that it needed. It did cool for like a day. But at the end, unfortunately, the unit did need replacing. Brunswick came out and did a total assessment of it. Thank God, American Home Shield was able to replace the unit for me, and now, everything is amazing.
Typically, we've had Brunswick Building Services come out and do some work for us, and the tech really takes his time to do what's necessary. First, he investigates and finds out the real cause of whatever the issue is, and then he works with American Home Shield to take care of me. American Home Shield really does a great job. I've been with them now for quite some time. I did, at one point, switch over for a little bit to Choice just to see how they were doing. They performed good initially, and then, later on, the wait time to get anything repaired was brutal. So, I canceled them after one year, and then I came back to American Home Shield. The water heater went out on a Saturday and the rep said the contractor would take a couple of days to call me but I told her I couldn't. That's all day Saturday and Sunday with no hot water. I gotta take showers and I would be at meetings on Monday at my job. She called me back and said the contractor would come out Sunday to see what they could do, if there’s anywhere they could adjust anything or see. The tech came out Sunday and he was very nice. He said the unit was leaking from the inside and he took all the details. The next Monday, the company called me back and asked if they could come and get the job done. Home Shield has been very responsive and the people that have come out to do the last three claims I had have been fantastic.

Four days later, I tried again. They were very nice people. I went in and he said, "Well, we did." He sure did. I could see where they had tried to contact me but it was not my phone number. I don't know how that happened. But I was able to go on to my account and put the correct phone number in there.
The service guy was awesome. He could not figure out the refrigerator right away, but he had ordered parts to the stove and he knew exactly what that was. He said that he would have to do his homework, but he was gonna go ahead and take a chance. It's an older KitchenAid. When he came back with the parts, he also came back with the parts on the refrigerator and he said he still couldn't find any information on how to get into it. He figured it out. Sure enough, it was the part he had suspected, and he fixed it all and put it back, and they went on. Everything's been working beautifully since.
I was a little apprehensive before getting American Home Shield. I wasn't sure how it was supposed to work. She said, "You know, you've lived in that house for 20 years, so it's not gonna hurt anything." I thought, "Well, she's probably right." The insurance won't cover my refrigerator. The repairman told me they're $14,000 new. I'm thinking, "Oh, I'm so glad it still works." It got repaired and at least it covered the repair, so I'm very happy with it.

I like American Home Shield a lot. I would call and they would tell me that they would send a contractor out. And then, I would hear from the contractor. They would come through and take care of the job. I appreciated that AHS would call and send somebody out right away not like those other companies that I used to have like Choice. It went about three weeks before I could get somebody to service which was why I got rid of them and gave AHS a chance. I recently had the garbage disposal replaced and then, it got jammed up. I put the switch on and heard a grinding electricity noise. Then, it blew my fuse. I put my switcher back on and all it would do was hum. So when the contractor came out, they looked inside of it and the technician had a gadget and he got it to crank around and found out that a screw or some kind of metal was in it.
The garbage disposal was a brand-new thing and I was wondering why it broke so fast, but I didn't realize that something fell down there and jammed up. What happened was I was looking for some screws. I had a drawer full of them and I dumped them on my counter. When I found the screw I wanted, I put everything back in the little container that I had. I wiped my counter down and the screw or something got stuck in the drain and jammed up the garbage disposal. The tech got the screw or metal out so, it's working good again. I don't need to replace the garbage disposal. I just need to watch what falls down my drain there.
I just recently told two people that just purchased a house that they gotta get a home warranty program because when something breaks, they don't wanna tackle that by themselves. They asked me more questions about it. With AHS, you can have confidence and go about your life. When something breaks, they are gonna be there for me.

We happened to mention it to a member of our church and he said that was not it at all and told us not to buy that. He said that where the connections are could sometimes get dirty and told me to brush around them. My husband did that and the lights are coming on every night. At the time, we got charged $50 for the guy to come out and take less than five and say he couldn’t help. I hope he doesn't treat everybody else that way because if that's the case, then the reputation of AHS is being dwindled away by bad contractors. That was just one but that doesn't mean the whole company has got bad contractors.
It has been many years that we've been with AHS. That was a bad experience and I don't know how they vet these people to see how good they are before they put them on their list. I don't know what qualifications they have to go through but it may not be the company but the person they hired. Whatever it is, it’s still representing them when they fall underneath their umbrella. But the experience has gotten better. We have been very good at having some good contractors that have come out and we're glad about that because there's nothing worse than having a customer paying every month and then nothing is breaking down every month, but then the time when something does, you can't get any service. We were thinking that this was not worth the money we were putting into it.
We thought about going with someone else but we had one person that came out and did our AC and that was the reason that we stayed. The lady was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what was going on. Last week, I told them that I was either gonna have to cancel my American Home Shield or we were gonna get this resolved because I couldn't afford to pay the warranty payment and the laundromat. Three weeks ago, they said they were gonna escalate it. But no one ever called me back. So I called back.
Last week, I told them that I needed to talk to a supervisor. This time, I was on hold for at least an hour. When I got ahold of the supervisor, they said they had to call Sears first and find out what was going on. But Sears never would return their phone call. Then they said to call back tomorrow because they were gonna go ahead and get me the appliance replacement because it's been so long. But there was a long wait line. So I called the next day and they said that they were gonna send me a check and replace the washer.
They said they were supposed to cut the check today and send it. But I had another phone call from Sears telling me to call and schedule when they can come fix it. I went ahead and bought a new washer. I'm hoping there’s not gonna be another mix-up. American Home Shield has been great. I've called several other times. Sears was the problem. But there were a couple of times that the American Home Shield reps never called me back. It was frustrating because it was 10 weeks without a washing machine. But everyone I spoke to was very polite and very professional. They did their best with what they could do.

The most recent claim I had with AHS was for the refrigerator. It had stopped cooling. I went online and there was a link that I can request service. The website seemed to work all right. They said to expect the contractor to call within 24 hours. I was pleased with the contractor who came. He explained things very well and was very professional. AHS really worked pretty well. I wish it was a little bit less expensive though. But I would recommend it.

My dishwasher was leaking and John T. came out but it’s still not repaired. American Home Shield had to send out an appliance repair company. They came out and said that either I'm going to need a whole lot of parts or a whole new dishwasher. The choice is up to AHS. Submitting the claim was very simple. I prefer doing it online. So far, the service has been good and I just renewed with them. With them, I don't have to pay everything in full out of my pocket.

I had an appliance issue, and the guy who came out was very professional, very knowledgeable, did a fantastic job, and he cleaned up when he was through. He wore a mask and so did I. The pump went out on the icemaker, and it didn't pump the water up to the water dispenser. He replaced the pump, and he had one on his truck. I'm an old lady and I like to talk because I'm all by myself, and he just kept working, but he’d nod his head every now and then. I really like American Home Shield, and I keep telling people about it. My daughter’s friend referred me to them and said that they were wonderful. So far, I'm seeing that, too.

It was completely easy to place a claim on American Home Shield. I went online and then they sent the order to the company. Within 24 hours, they contacted me, and within a couple of days they were here. My wife's an OCD person, so her floors. Immediately when the gentleman came in, he put some covers around his shoes. I had a water heater leak downstairs in the basement and he noticed what was going on right away and fixed it in less than an hour. When we went downstairs to my basement, he saw I was a Buccaneer fan, so we immediately started talking football. He was very talkative, nice, humble, and knowledgeable. The overall experience and the conversation was great.

The service of the contractors that came out was really good. Charlie from Five Cross came out last Friday and he thought he fixed what was wrong with our AC. But, we noticed Sunday before we left that the unit was still running inside the cabin. I let them know over at Five Cross. Charlie went back out Monday. I shut it off 'cause I don't want this to be using all this electricity ‘cause I’ll need it too, but it never shut off. He checked it out. He said it's still running. He contacted the manufacturer. He's dealing with them right now trying to see what's going on, if this is the bad part that was sent or what. He said he'll let us know as soon as he finds out something. At this point, everything's good with American Home Shield. We're happy.

I had a claim last December for my water heater and my thermostat. It was two separate issues. The water heater leaked so it caused the thermostat to short out. It was the middle of winter here. It was like in the low 30s. I have three kids and my youngest at the time was not even one. He had been in the hospital a few months prior. I called American Home Shield and the claim was filed. I didn't hear back from anybody for a day or two. I got an email back saying who got assigned so I called the company when I saw the email. They said they couldn't come out until the claim was approved. So I called American Home Shield and they said it was disapproved. I told them to approve it and I already gave them the money to file the claim. I spoke to a woman there and she said that it was approved. I had waited two days and called back 'cause it kinda frustrated me ‘cause of my kids. It wasn't approved.
The bottom-line was I went on to spend 500 bucks on heaters for my house to keep my kids warm. I figured it was either that or go spend 1,000 bucks on a hotel. I called American Home Shield back and told them that. They said they'd give me a couple hundred bucks back. I said, "I went and I spent 500 'cause I was waiting for you guys to approve the claim. Come to find out, you guys can't approve the claim.” When I called them back to tell them I spent 500 bucks, they told me that the claim was approved. So somehow, there was a disconnect. I called a few times but I haven't heard back from them. It's so frustrating. I've been tossed up in limbo on this since December. Every time I called, it was a runaround and I was getting sent around to different call centers. Three different phone numbers later, I probably spent five, six hours on the phone. At this point now, it's like my time is worth more than the 400 shortfall.
Other than that, the policy’s great and the service is great. I'm still gonna recommend the service. I've renewed the policy despite what happened last year and I'll probably re-up again. I filed probably six, seven claims and I've never had an experience like that before where we file a claim then somebody on American Home Shield's side doesn't follow through on approving the claim. Recently, my refrigerator and freezer were acting up. They were being really loud and my refrigerator wasn't cooling. The second thing was my dryer. The dial wasn't moving. The guy came out pretty quick. He gave me a courtesy call 30 minutes before and took care of it the same day.

Sometimes, the quality of the vendors is uneven. I've had very good experiences and not such good experiences with the people American Home Shield sends out. However, submitting service requests has always been simple. Also, when Ralph's came, they resolved the issue to my wife's satisfaction. There was a problem with the icemaker in the refrigerator and it was replaced. I have since subsequently heard that there is a constant problem with the icemakers in those refrigerators. That's not their fault, but that's something that happens on a regular basis.

As longs as it works. The guy that came out from Affordable Comfort got a good one this time. He was professional and considerate. He took care of the problem. American Home Shield is okay. It’s kinda like insurance. It’s easier to pay monthly than to come out of pocket for thousands of dollars at one time. Anytime I've had a issue, I know how to fight for myself, so it was taken care of. There was one particular instance that I had to go all the way up the food chain. But it was more because of the guy that came out than American Home Shield.

My friend and I were talking and I told her it had been an expensive week. The refrigerator went out in the garage. I had to get a new one and on top of that, the water heater went out. She said I needed to get a home warranty. She gave me American Home Shield's phone number and told me to call. I called that afternoon and it's been a lifesaver for me especially knowing that $75 is a flat rate. I started out at $50 but to know you can get help is nice. I like that. It's comforting to me.
Recently, the disposal kinda sounded funny and I thought maybe it was jammed. I had planned to call but I was gonna be gone on Friday. I thought to call over the weekend and we’d set it up for Monday. When I got a call from the house on Friday, water was pouring out everywhere. Everything was leaking. So I called and asked could I get it done but I couldn't get anybody here until Monday. It was a mess. I understand it was a Friday afternoon but there are plumbers that work 24/7. They are available when there's a problem but I couldn't get help.
I've had Sigmond Plumbing before and they're good. The guy came out Monday and he worked on it. He said, "I think we got it." He started to run it and as soon as he did that, everything started leaking again. It was all coming apart on the bottom of it. So, he replaced it because it couldn't be fixed. He said, "I might have the exact one in the van. Let me go out there and look." He had the exact one and it runs great. He was very nice and cleaned up everything. It's nice when the contractors clean up after themselves. They don't just walk out and leave everything everywhere. I only had one experience that they left some stuff and I had to finish with it but it wasn't a big deal. Some people don't do anything. They just leave everything everywhere. If it's under your sink, they don't help you. It's nice that with the contractors with American Home Shield, I don't have to say, "You need to clean up." They just do it.
We've had American Home Shield for at least 10 years. I know if something's broken, I can call and get help. I know how much I need to get them out here. They've fixed most everything. They had to replace an icemaker. They wouldn't fix the air conditioner when it went out when they found out it was gonna have to go underground so I had to have somebody come and do that. The homeowners had paid for it 'cause they did it. They were putting in a new sidewalk and cut the part of the thing for the air conditioner going from the compressor to the house. But the air conditioner went out and it was totally gone. I did buy a new air conditioner and I'm paying on that.
The worst thing I have about American Home Shield is trying to get to talk to somebody. If there's something wrong, you need to talk to someone and not deal with a machine for 30 minutes and still not get to someone. I had to call three or four times to get through that afternoon just trying to get through to somebody and talk to them so they knew I needed it. It wasn't just broken. There was a problem. That is very frustrating as a consumer when you can't talk to anybody. I understand there are a lot of times you can do it online but there are times you can't. They're also not asking the right questions. They ask the question, you answer it, and they say they understand. Then you have to start all over again.

When we first noticed that the air conditioner wasn't heating, we turned it off. We tried multiple times to get it going again and we couldn't pinpoint what the problem could be. So, when the guy from Stockdale Service came out, he checked the return, which apparently would go into our bathroom sink. And that sink was clogged right there. We were so grateful for the simple solution. Not only did the guy fixed it, but he educated me. I knew that sink was backing up, but I didn't realize it would affect the air conditioner. The guy said that if it would start backing up, that would be a good indication that I needed to get that clear or it would affect the AC. So, I was really appreciative of the extra knowledge to prevent it in the future. American Home Shield has one of the easier processes, being able to request online and then very quickly get the call back and appointment. Then the company that came out was really friendly.

Scheduling service with American Home Shield is very easy. All of it happens through text. There was a time when we had intermitted electrical issues that were localized to one or two appliances. I got worried that something was wrong with my wiring or the breakers. The tech sent by AHS came and checked all my circuits. He made sure everything was fine and said that things looked good. We haven't had any issues since then.
Yesterday though, we had a claim for a dishwasher issue. Their contractor's dispatcher called me and asked if I had a switch somewhere. I told him that we didn't have one and he asked me to look for one. I did and found a switch which I then turned on and off. My dishwasher started working again. The contractor said that he was gonna cancel the claim on his side. He told me to call Home Shield so that they could cancel the claim and get my money back. There was a communication issue with AHS's rep and the customer service center I was speaking with. They didn't seem to understand what I was asking and after putting me on hold, the rep said that the contractor says they were on their way. I told her that the contractor told me they are not on their way.
She said that she was gonna call the contractor back and then I could call AHS back later when things are all sorted. I get a call from the contractor saying that AHS kept on calling them trying to confirm whether we had an appointment or not. The rep eventually told me that the contractor said everything was good. Still, that took much longer than it needed to.

I went online and submitted a claim with AHS for the refrigerator and the washer. Then, I received an email saying that they had the claim and it was assigned. The contractor came out and they had to order parts for the refrigerator. When they came back to fix that, it's been fine but for the refrigerator, the tech said that they to do a recall on it. I'm still waiting to hear back on that.
Prior to that claim, I had an AC claim. The contractor came out and he filled up the liquid but he didn't replace the filters. He gave me the information to order the filters and replace them myself. With the previous warranty that we had for our AC company, that was included. I'm not sure money-wise that it's beneficial for the AC because those filters are expensive. The AC warranty that I had previously, even though it's standalone, was more beneficial.

I understand there's COVID and some backlog, but if you have a downed freezer, you shouldn't have to wait three months to get it fixed. We noticed that the entire side of the freezer was frosting over very thickly. It was having freezing drizzle, frozen ripples down the freezer wall. It was making ice on top of the shelves. The shelves wouldn’t slide out ‘cause they were frozen. Everything was getting soft. Our temperature would vary from 5 degrees below to 40. Spontaneously, in an hour or so, it’d go back to 5 and then 40. Stuff was kinda freezing and thawing. The ice cube maker was making ice cubes overflowing onto the two shelves below. It was heaped up and going over the edges. I had to take a couple pans to scoop out all the excess ice then dump out the ice in the ice tray to keep it from doing it again.
It took American Home Shield two months to get back to me from the people they contract out to. When we called, their American Home Shield operator had a deep, foreign accent. She said, "We'll get to you within one to two days." I called back a week later. She said, “We'll get to you in one to two days.” You’d think they would be able to pursue it a little heavier but she said, “I cannot control that. I can just send out the contract for people out of West Virginia to come. We can just put it and that's all we can do. We can't do anything other than put in a contract request.”
The contractor finally reached out and came out a week later. They don't have the parts and I haven't heard from them for about a week and a half. The guy came out and thought that the panel and the fan that cycles the air around in the freezer were probably bad. That was his conclusion. I'm frustrated with this one service call but everything else has been great. We've had a couple thermostats for our furnace replaced over time and those people came out within 24, 48 hours. They were great.

Home Shield is very professional, they care about their customer and they take the time out to make sure that you understand everything. Sometimes I have called places and I was more confused after I got off the phone than I was when I got on the call. On the other hand, Home Shield clarifies and they continue to ask you, "Is there anything else? Is there anything else we can help you with? Or is there anything that you're not understanding?" They made sure that I was comfortable when I got off the phone. Home Shield explained everything to me. I called the first time, and then Home Shield put me in contact with the claims department so I could do the claim. But they never hung up on me. They just transferred me over to them.
When the guy first came out, he told me I needed an electrician. And then, I called them Home Shield because he told me I needed to do that. When the electrician came, he went up and checked everything. He said, "No. You don't need an electrician. You need to call your warranty back, tell them it's not electric, that they need to send somebody else out to look at the AC again." That was when Home Shield sent the second guy. I told them I didn’t want them to send the first guy that came out back out. So, they sent the second guy out, and he got it up and running in no time. He had to change out a wire.

My air conditioner was not cooling. I started this problem in June, and it's still not fixed. Now, the air conditioner people did fine. They came out. It took them a couple of trips, but they were pretty consistent at exploring and trying to figure out what the problem was. They figured it out. They got the air conditioner running good and as a result of them figuring out what the problem was, then it started condensing in a spot. It created like a drip in my ceiling that created a hole in it. We discovered that it had been going on. So, after the air conditioner started running, they turned it over to the plumbing department. The plumbers came out several times. When they finally figured out after about the fifth or sixth time, they said, "Well, we need to coordinate with the air condition people 'cause they have to do their part. And then the plumbing has to do their part. But we need to coordinate it."
Every time he would say that, I'd wait and wait. Nobody contacted me. So, I’d put in a request again with pipes leaking. And every time, they'd come out and they'd say the same thing. At some point, I'm just in this cycle of putting in for a pipe leaking and them coming out saying the same thing. I decided I needed to call American Home Shield. It got worse when I called them because the first thing that happened was it said, "Put in your phone number if you didn't want to wait," and they’d give you a call back. That didn't happen. So, the next time I called back and I just waited, and I waited on the phone call for about 45 minutes, and then the guy got me, and we disconnected. He never called back.
Every time you call them, you have to wait 45 minutes to an hour to get somebody. I learned to tell them, "Here's my phone number. If we disconnect for whatever reason, I can't get you back, please call me back." So, that resolved that issue. But I kept trying to explain to everybody what the problem was. Three different folks assured me they understood. They saw everything written down in the notes. One of them was even gonna turn in the plumbing people because the plumbing people had been out there several days ago, and they never did turn in the diagnosis or their paperwork and everybody.
I asked, "When am I gonna hear back from somebody?" "Oh, within 24 hours." One lady even told me within the next hour. That happened four times. I never heard back from anybody. I got at a point that I wouldn't let anybody off the phone. I was talking to somebody on the phone and chatting because I finally saw a chat box. Both of them were telling me two different things. But it finally got to the point to where they understood that they need to be able to contact these two organizations, the air conditioner and the plumbing in order to get this worked out. We finally got to that point and with them understanding.
At that point, I just started kinda taking things in my own hands. I had some cell phones where people had called me letting me know that they were on their way. I started just calling and saying, "Look, you gotta be here when he's out here. You gotta beat that." Finally, I hooked up the air conditioner man and the plumbing on a three-way call myself. And I should not have had to do all of that. And when I did, then the plumbing guy talked to the air conditioner guy. The air conditioning people came out and they did exactly what they were supposed to do.
To this day right now, I still got a leak in my ceiling. Where I am with the plumbing is saying to me he knows exactly what he needs to do, but he cannot cut a hole in the ceiling because they won't allow him to do it. I have to find somebody to cut the ceiling and then to give them a call back. Then they'll come and put a P-trap. All they have to do is put a P-trap in the ceiling. It was two weeks ago. When he told me that, I said, "You know what, I'm on my way out of town. It's gonna take me a minute to find somebody to cut the ceiling."
I am not a happy customer at this point. I'm dissatisfied with the amount of time it takes to get ahold of American Home Shield. I'm dissatisfied with the lack of coordination that they have. The air conditioner people that they sent out are great every time. They're very responsive, but not so much with the plumbing. I'm coming up on a year in March with American Home Shield. And in March, I'm thinking about canceling.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

It's been a very positive experience with American Home Shield, particularly with a new home. When my wife spoke to the representative, they said that someone would be contacting us within the next 24 hours. The contractor came out and determined what the problem was. They had to order the parts then they came back a second time in order to install the circuit board that was broken on one of our air conditioning units. Once the circuit board was replaced, the system’s been functioning properly. The contractor had to drive over from Oklahoma City which I found a little curious but he was very knowledgeable. He came and used his equipment to assess the problem then told us what the problem was. The only thing was the time between diagnosis then having to order parts then repair during the heat of the summer could have been shorter. That air conditioning unit was out of service for maybe four or five days which is somewhat inconvenient.

The first visit was for an AC on the first floor. A different guy came, but it was the same thing that happened (the fan died). He repaired something, and then he left. Now, American Home Shield is really good in the sense that they've become more professional. They are sending good people who can do well.

Everything has been fine with American Home Shield. I just moved into a new condo and my realtor suggested I get someone to rekey the place to make sure I have the only set as opposed to someone else who maybe rented it in the past. LT Lock & Key came out there and rekeyed it for me. It only took about half an hour and that was it. It was good. The guy was nice and efficient.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield online was fairly painless. I misclassified it originally to be a garbage disposal unit versus a compost machinery. It didn't make sense even though there's a big picture showing what it's supposed to be. I was going through the process when I realized that it clearly was not what I originally thought it was. After I realized that, within a few moments, I fixed it and updated it. The one thing that I did like was I got to choose the company. I looked up the original company that was selected and they got 2.5 stars. I'm a review kinda guy and I didn’t want that 2.5-star person.
I selected the 4.5-star person, and they called me within 48 hours and scheduled an appointment. The first available appointment that they would have come out was in 22 business days from the moment I had the issue. I requested a later date by two more days because I wouldn't be available. The technician came out within a few days, looked at the unit and diagnosed the problem. He said there was debris inside that was causing it to sound awful and they removed it. I have had a good experience with AHS thus far but I would prefer to pay less.

Hansen Mechanical was very professional. They were in and out. It was perfect. Home Shield did a great job. They have been responsive whenever I've had a problem. I was part of Home Shield years and years ago, and I stopped using them because I needed to save money. Now I'm back with them and it has been great.

I recently had my pool motor and a timer in my pool replaced. I also had a refrigerator that was not working, and they got the part and put it in. So, AHS has done everything that I thought they should. However, sometimes, the wait time is long, but I've been able to get through and do what I needed to be done. What I've done is I'd leave my name and they'd call me back, because it would say it'd be 30 minutes. They would always do that within the day. My monthly charge and the amount that I have to pay, the $100, when I have a claim is also fair.

It's nice to be able to call someone to get somebody to come and fix it than having a hard time find somebody to fix your issues. And since I’ve been here, I've only had two major issues. Patrick Murphy Plumbing did a great job. I was very pleased with them. Unfortunately, I had to call another service because it was an outside problem. What happened was I was taking a shower, and the water didn't seem to be going down like it normally did. When I got out of the shower, I flushed the toilet, and the water started pouring out from underneath the toilet. From that point, like an idiot, I tried to do laundry and then had water coming up from the toilet, in the bathtub and underneath the toilet. I had water coming out everywhere in the bathroom. It ended up being roots in the line. We had a break. It was a major thing.
I wasn't very happy. But I was very thankful that we had another service that covered the outside part and it had taken care of that. So, there was no out-of-pocket expense. I am so grateful that we were smart enough to get these warranties. When we bought the house back in 2017, our real estate agent had offered AHS and we had it in our policy. We've come into some financial hardships, so we had to let it lapse after the first year. But then when we got back on our feet, we signed up again. So far, we've been very pleased. Every time we've called for something that has come up, they've taken care of it. They were very prompt. They usually contact you within the day, usually within a few hours. I've only had one situation where I had a problem with one of the contractors. I called AHS and they got someone else to replace them and everything was taken care of immediately. They’re really good about keeping in contact.

At the time, I wasn't sure if it was the washer or the drain itself. An appliance repairman came out, looked at it and said my washing machine is fine. We started a cycle and as soon as we did, the water came back up through the discharge pipe. He said he'd notify American Home Shield and they would supply me with a plumber's name. The next day, a plumber called and set up an appointment. He came out, ran the snake through the drain, found the obstacle and knocked it out. We ran a cycle through the washing machine and that was fine. The gentleman was very polite and very prompt. He cleaned up the mess he made before he left. A contractor came out for the heating and air conditioning unit, and they were not able to get it fully resolved. It was not something that they covered. They wanted to try and fix the old unit which would work for a short term but not a long term solution. We're kinda just waiting every day for it to break again. The heater has the potential to release carbon monoxide in the house if it breaks completely. The repair guys that came out said it's going to happen. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. I had some unknown appliance people that first came out for the washer and dishwasher. I had a friend there at the time ‘cause I couldn't be there. The company said that they didn't think they really troubleshot the washer very well. But the guy looked at it and the report came back that it was not due to normal wear and tear. AHS told me that it wasn't covered. Then, as soon as the guy saw that there was no air gap on top of the sink, he didn't check the dishwasher. He never even turned it on to see what the problem was, so I was really disappointed. He just said that it was installed improperly and it wasn't covered as well. What I've heard since then is that some of these repair companies don't even wanna fix things. That's exactly what I felt.
I asked AHS how it could not be normal wear and tear. The spinner was not working. The girl there immediately said that if I wanted a second opinion, they could send one. I asked if I have to pay another hundred dollars, and she said that I don't have to. I agreed but I told her I only wanted Sears because at least they're trained and they're trying to fix things.
The Sears guy that came and looked at the dishwasher fixed it in 15 minutes. All he did was turn it on and the motor was stuck. He just unstuck it and it was fine. Then, the guy for the washer said that the spinners were gone. Right away, they made their report and I got an email from AHS saying that I would get replacement cost. I was very happy about that because I felt like they remedied the situation. I purchased another washer. Of course, in Hawaii, we're having a little trouble with supply. The earliest I could get anything delivered would be on November 6th, next Friday. I actually sent in the receipt already but I haven't followed up since then.

Our air conditioning wasn't working. We had to call American Home Shield multiple times because it was not fixed the first time and it took us like a week to get it fixed. The first time, I did the claim online, and that was easy. It didn't get fixed though. We tried to call the air conditioning company that came out and they weren't answering. Then, I had to do a claim that it was still not a fixed thing online, which was fine. They said they weren't gonna be able to come out until five days. My husband had to call and that was not a good experience. The person he was talking to did not understand the situation and wasn't very willing to help out trying to get us like air conditioning any sooner. It was like 90 degrees here. They did finally get it fixed. It just took a little too long.
The first time the contractors came out, I don't know why it wasn't fixed but there was something about the board and then they sent out like a senior tech person and he was able to at least get it running even though we needed some part. It was running over the weekend, and then they came back on Monday. So, it ended up being fine. We just didn't like the fact that it wasn't fixed, and then we had to wait a day to submit the claim for American Home Shield to send someone out, and then they said that they couldn't be out for another two days.
We had a few experiences with AHS this spring. We had some plumbing stuff, and then we did have somebody come out for the air conditioning like the first time we ran it in the spring. The first time, with the air conditioning, was fine. They came out quickly and fixed it quickly. As for the plumbing, it was kinda the same thing. The contractor came out, left, I realized like within a day that it wasn't fixed, and they sent the same guy back out and he did fix it the second time. Filing the issues to AHS is really easy. They seem to dispatch quickly, but it tends to be a problem, at least for us, that it's not fixed the first time. Overall, the coverage is good. It seems like what I expect to be covered is covered.

There were two claims. One of them was the oven that wouldn't ignite. Authorized Appliance came out and fixed it and that was good. The second one was the washing machine and that one was a bit more of a problem. We had to wait a week and a half for somebody to come out. We had to use a laundromat in the meantime while we were waiting. Then when the Electrolux guy came out, he wouldn't fix it. Coincidentally, it was the same day as the oven guy. The oven guy said that he could have fixed that straight away. But it was a different company that American Home Shield had dispatched.
My perspective is it seems like it's easy apart from when it's not. It depends on the vendor that's being used, especially with the washing machine, I could have just gone out and bought another one. But because I had the coverage, I might as well use it. However, we ended up not having a washing machine for two weeks. So, with a toddler and we've got a baby on the way as well, it wasn't ideal. But then when we had an issue with the air conditioning, it was leaking, the guy came out quickly, and it wasn't a big thing.

We just bought a home and when we were in the house for less than a week, we discovered water on the floor in front of the sink and we weren't sure at first where it was coming from, so we realized that the water was dripping from underneath the disposal. We caught any of the water in a reservoir so that it wouldn’t ruin our wood floors and damage the cabinetry until the plumbers could come out and repair it. Two gentlemen came out and they were very professional. They also wore masks. They took out the old disposal because it couldn't be repaired and they put a new one in and everything was great on that. This is the first claim that we've had with American Home Shield. But, we've since had a second issue that I'm not really pleased with.
This was with our microwave. If I heat anything that has any moisture, like a cup of tea or hot water, the electrical panel that is like the touchscreen fogs up with water, and then it starts going off and beeping and it goes haywire. I've had two companies come out and it's still not repaired. The first company came out and said I really can't put anything with any liquid in there and it's not intended to heat up anything like that. I said that’s exactly what a microwave is used for. You heat up a cup of coffee or heat up a cup of water to make tea. You steam broccoli, and the word "steam" in your microwave goes with the vegetables.
I called back after the first guy and said that they're just gonna repair it. This is not a good design because the fan that pulls the air out is right next to the electrical panel that has the computer and so all the moisture comes into the area. They said that I could call out and have a second opinion. I called AHS back, got a second opinion, and got someone else out. They said, “Well, ma'am, that's not what a microwave is for.” It's like talking to a wall.
The first company had ordered the parts but they didn't have a repair date until the 29th of this month. I've been a little over three weeks now without a microwave to be able to heat up any leftovers. What they need to do is they need to let me get a different microwave because this same problem is gonna keep happening over and over again because this particular microwave style is not meant to be heated up with a little bit of water in it.

I've been dealing with them since August 6th. They sent the pool man and the pool man said, "It needs some electric work done so you gotta call the electrician." The electrician came after I spent $100 for them. They came and I wasn't home. I did not know they were coming. Then another time, I had to pay another $100 for them to come back. Between the pool and them, I spent $300. They came and the guy said he could not do anything. He said, "I'm gonna talk to American Home Shield and explain the situation." I didn’t hear anything for two weeks. I called and American Home Shield said there was a chewed up line from animals and they don't cover that. The electrician never told me that.
There are people that don't speak good English. They tell them one thing then they send something else. The other thing is they sent people and I paid for for the service but the service is still not done. If it can't be fixed, they have to replace it. They're not helping me on that either. People are gonna cancel if they have any of these problems. I cancelled my American Home Shield policy for two houses.

We both forgot one of the things that I said I wanted, and he came back and after I remembered, “Oh, my goodness! You spent all this time on this, but don't forget, I wanted this,” he said, “Oh, yeah, that's right!” He came right back and fixed it. He did an amazing job. His assistant, Jason, also was very wonderful. I practically consider him a friend now.
The tech ended up not just rekeying, but replacing my locks, which my warranty only paid X amount, and I paid over that. But the end result is I am extraordinarily pleased with my doors, door handle and my locks system. The system that was put in is wonderful. I love it. Everything was great. I absolutely would recommend American Home Shield or anyone buying a new home in particular. When you buy a house, you don’t always know exactly everything that's wrong with it. The homeowner may not even know everything that's wrong with it. It is such peace of mind to have a warranty on a new home, so that when you get into a situation where something doesn't work, that is covered or at least part of it is covered. To know that you're protected is such a good feeling.

We were all cautious because we had our mask on too. AHS is okay but maybe we could have more than one choice. I don't know exactly how they select the people to do their service but prior to Mechanical coming out, they had somebody. Several years ago, they had another company who told me that they were from St. Joe, and they were a good company. Since I'm old, I like the same person. You kinda get to know that same company and the same people who come to your house and service. I kinda I like that a little better than you may get somebody different than the one you had prior.
I also had a dishwasher go out and the contractor came. The guy couldn't fix it, so I got a new one. I had a faucet in my kitchen that wasn't working and they replaced it. A contractor also came for a washer, but I didn't wanna do anything with it. But most of the time they've come out for the few services that I have had, I've been very pleased with AHS. All Fix Service called the very next day so that was good. They came out on August 14th. The three repairs were an exhaust fan in the bathroom, a light over the kitchen sink, and a ceiling fan. The tech didn't take a while. He was able to replace the exhaust fan in the bathroom from a piece he had on his truck so that was perfect. As for the other two pieces, he determined that he needed to replace them. There's a process they go through to do that. They sent me choices of ceiling fans and I picked one. They came out on September 9th to replace the ceiling fan and the light over the sink.
The ceiling fan went great but the light over the sink was the wrong kind, which meant that it was gonna require some more research on their end for the appropriate part. They then had to come out and take care of the light over the sink. They brought the new part on October 13th because they were having trouble finding it. It took a while but I understood why. Everything works great now and we're very satisfied.

My husband and I were out of the house for a few hours on the 11th. When we came home, our kitchen was flooded and there was water coming from the ceiling. The last time we used the toilet upstairs, it didn't catch so it kept overflowing from the bowl. We were gone for three and a half hours and that was long enough for the master bathroom, the vanity area, the bedroom, the kitchen, the dining room, the garage, and the closet in one of the guest bedrooms to be damaged by water.
American Home Shield sent Roberson Plumbing. The tech was quick and very professional. He was in and out really quickly so it didn't seem like it was that big of an issue. The tech repaired and replaced the entire pump or the valve as well as the flusher. He reinstalled a brand new setup inside. Unfortunately, the plumbing problems led to other issues. Now, there are areas of our house that are being ripped out because of water damage. We ended up calling a separate company. American Home Shield has good service and has been very beneficial. They helped us out a lot and they got somebody out the next day. We were able to locate the source of the problem and get it fixed as quickly as possible. That way, it wouldn't happen again in the future.

It took a few times for Atlas Residential Services to come in and check out the appliance for them to completely address that issue, but they did it effortlessly. They informed us every time they were about to come in at least a few days prior to schedule an appointment and they were communicative throughout the time. They finished the job in a matter of three visits, but it was a very wonderful experience. When we submitted this claim with AHS, we just filled out a form online, so it was easy for me and my dad to sit on the computer and fill it out. And the response time was relatively really quick as well, so no complaints there. They were really good.

I used American Home Shield at my old house, which made me decide to go with them. The service has been good. I haven't had to look for repair people. Always Air came out for a service call and they were good and quick. They told us the furnace is old and to keep an eye on it.

Our recent claim with AHS was for a pipe leak under the house. I called American Home Shield on a Saturday morning. They assigned me a company that I called and they said, "We'll be out on Tuesday afternoon. You better turn your water off to the house. 'Cause otherwise, you'll flood out the whole thing." I didn't feel like that was appropriate because there was a leak of water under the house. I couldn't turn off the water because the water valve was broken. I didn't know how to turn it off for three days. I couldn't go for three days with no water in the whole house. There are five people in the house.
So I called American Home Shield. They said, "All right, so we're gonna assign a different company, Bear Plumbing. They'll call you by the end of the day on Saturday." That was Saturday afternoon and they didn't call me. So at 5 AM, I was very nervous. I couldn't sleep all night, because I couldn't get the water turned off and it was running under the house. So I called them starting at 5 o'clock in the morning on Sunday trying to get them to come out and they got angry with me. They never came out and they never called me.
I called American Home Shield on Monday morning and said, "They didn't send anyone. Can you please send another vendor? Do something because now it had been two more days and there's still running water and a lake of water into this house." So they called back there who said that they would come. They did and they sent a crew that afternoon at 1:00, who turned off the water so that the lake under the house could dry up. Then they came back like they said, at 1 o'clock on Tuesday and they fixed the pipe. They did a good job. They were very polite and they got jumped into action. They also explained what they were gonna do. I was very satisfied when they finally sent a crew. American Home Shield solved my problems in a very professional manner.

My air went out so I called American Home Shield. The guy called me and told me he was dealing with a job. It was pretty late and he probably wouldn’t be there till 8:00 or 9:00 at night so I told him I’d reschedule. I called in the next day and I rescheduled. Someone else came out. He called me and told me he was done early. He asked did I mind if he came early to which I told him no so he got there and fixed it. It’s working well. He was very friendly and earlier than expected which was good as it had been hot.

The online submission for my dryer claim was pretty seamless. The contractor had to come and see the appliance and then he had to come back about a week later to install the parts. There have been no issues since then. This is the third time I've used American Home Shield and everything has gone well every time.
