The technician from United Air Temp who came out checked my AC unit and looked at the thermostat. He also checked our unit outside and went over his diagnosis with my husband. When he determined what was needed, he talked with us about the part that was needed in the coolant and told us the whole process of what was gonna happen. He was very thorough, helpful and knowledgeable. I did the claim online and American Home Shield’s rep gave me a call a few minutes later. The turnaround time was excellent. The only thing was some of the prices were a little vague on what the cost would have been after the initial fee.
Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We're delighted that our technician could promptly address your heating system issue and that you found his expertise helpful. It’s also great to hear that our online and phone processes were smooth and met your needs swiftly. We appreciate your feedback regarding the service pricing clarity and online setup and will use this to enhance our services further. If you have any other needs, feel free to visit our website. The washing machine wasn't washing with any cold water no matter what setting we put it on. It was all hot. I had friends come out and start moving around the hoses to determine if it was a plumbing issue or a machine problem. They thought it was a machine problem so I called American Home Shield. It was a woman that came out that serviced it. She was sharp. The problem was the hoses that were connected to the machine were reversed, and she saw that right away. It took a few days for them to get the appointment, but it wasn't an urgent issue. I was happy with what transpired. I've had American Home Shield for two years since I bought the house and this was the first one where their contractor came out to look at a problem. I'm pretty satisfied with it so far. I'm a little older and some online stuff can be weird, but American Home Shield's online system was pretty straightforward.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that the service process was easy to navigate and that the GE technician efficiently addressed the issue with your washing machine. Your recommendation and confidence in our service are greatly appreciated, and we hope to continue bringing peace of mind whenever needed. If you have any other questions or require assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to serving you again!

A tech from Cities Appliance Repair came out to fix our microwave. Something wouldn't turn on, and he said he knew what it was, and he could fix it right away. It was a fuse in the microwave itself. He had to get a part but it didn't take him very long to solve the issue. He was a really nice guy. He was efficient. We were happy.
I talked with American Home Shield when we were having problems with our smoke detectors. I had changed the policy because the monthly cost of the policy was going up. I went to a slightly cheaper monthly fee, and it turned out that the smoke detectors weren't covered in that. I wish I had known that when I switched. It would have been smart for me, but it would also be smart perhaps for AHS to just say, "Okay. With this change of policy, here's what we used to cover that we are no longer covering," or "Here is how your coverage will be different. You will lose this, or you will have to pay extra for that." That would have been something good to know. We are definitely gonna go back to our old policy. While the monthly cost went up a lot, the service providers that AHS sends us are great. The fact that they make the phone calls and do the arranging is really great, too.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

We've had problems over the years with our air conditioning system where it would work and then on a really hot day, it would stop working, and then it wouldn't work for a day or two, then it would start working again. About two years ago, we spent about $1,500 getting the system serviced, and for the last two years, it's been fine. About two weeks ago, all of a sudden, it started that weird behavior. On a really hot afternoon, it stopped. It kept blowing air but it was not cooling. I panicked and I put in a service request to American Home Shield. The next day, it started working just fine. So, the tech came out about a week later. We canceled the original service guy because they did show up but they didn't have insurance. I told the guy who came out about how the AC wasn't working, but it is working.
He checked the system over briefly, and he said it's not unknown. Our HVAC units are on the roof of the building and near each other. And apparently, when it gets really hot, sometimes it triggers something inside the compressor that shuts it off. That may be the problem but he said, “It's not just you.” They didn't really do anything except reassure me that there was nothing wrong, and it's fine. I just turned it on half an hour ago when it was 83 in here, and it's now down to 78. So, everything's working fine.
Overall, it's fairly easy for me to access online and book service appointments to American Home Shield. One thing I don't really like is, we had a very expensive plan, and it turned out we ended up with a much less expensive plan that covered about the same thing. We were spending over $1,000 a year with the plan that we're now spending just a couple of hundred dollars on. Last year, they changed the rates, but online, you could get the same plan for less money.
I couldn't cancel the plan and start the new plan and have full coverage because it takes 30 days, apparently. I had to keep both plans active, so I started the new annual plan at $25 even though I had the old plan at $35, and I had to wait a month until the new plan kicked in, and then cancel the old plan. It's kind of annoying. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very responsive. They get people out here. If the people aren't acceptable, they get someone else out.
Your insights are incredibly helpful in guiding our efforts to improve and ensure we’re meeting your expectations. We're committed to delivering the best possible service, and your feedback plays a vital role in helping us achieve that goal.
We look forward to continuing to serve you and strengthening our relationship in the future.

American Home Shield sent Appliance All Stars who then looked at our washer. My son was here with them, and they said that parts needed to be ordered. There were two separate parts. They left the parts on the washer. My son said, “Well, I think he's gonna come back in and tell me what he's gonna do, but he never came back in and just left.” They said that they were gonna put an order in to American Home Shield. That took two days, and it wasn't done correctly. This was a Wednesday and my washer had already been out for about five days. They had first offered someone else to do this, and then I guess that person was sick in the hospital, which is understandable. They had to change it to the Appliance All Star people, so it was an extra two days.
It just went on and on for another week. They finally came back after me calling a million times. They said that the parts can't be ordered, and that they were no longer made. We just bought that washer six months ago, so that was disturbing. We never saw Appliance All Stars again. I called them three times to try and get answers from them, and they never called me back. After two weeks of this, American Home Shield sent an email saying that they would replace the washer or give us a gift card to Lowe's to go buy a new washer, which we took the gift card to replace it.

We had repair done on a dryer and another one on our dishwasher, and Sears cancelled numerous times on both. It took over a month for both of them to be fixed. Sears doesn't have a technician who can come out and do both. We had to have this set of technicians and that set of technicians. It was the worst service we've ever had. I couldn’t get anybody to help me, even American Home Shield. So, we're upset. The technicians finally came and supposedly fixed the dishwasher, but it still didn’t work. For the dryer, they ordered parts, and they never came. When they ordered the second time, two sets of parts were ordered but when they diagnosed it as being the motor, it wasn’t that at all. It was just a fuse in the back that they could have fixed the first time they came out. But nobody actually looked.
After the right diagnosis, both appliances have been fine, but it was awful. American Home Shield should find better technicians than Sears. They were horrible. I asked if we could just go with somebody else. But if we do that, we have to start the process all over again and it’ll be even longer.

The repair guy worked on my wife’s dishwashing machine and told us that we’re probably gonna have to get another hose. I submitted a claim online with AHS for my fans and navigating the site was challenging because it doesn't give you the specifics. All I could do was hit “other”. But the tech who came out was fine. There was one portion that he said he couldn't do. But everything else has been fine.
My uncle was using American Home Shield also and then he subsequently changed. This will be my last time, too. Because one, it keeps going up. And there has been a number of issues with American Home Shield for me - the lack of correspondence, the patronizing, the cynical conversation, just not doing what they said they were gonna do. This October will be my last one.

We had scheduled the contractor two weeks in advance to replace a card in a dishwasher. I had my son come down from Los Angeles, a two and a half hour drive, to meet with them, and he got there on Friday. They're supposed to be there on Saturday. We got a call from the appliance people, and they said, "I'm sorry, we can't come out 'cause we didn't get the part." We could have got a bit sooner notice so my son didn't have to spend five hours of driving just because someone didn't have a part. I said, "It'd be another month or so before my son gets back down there."
They just canceled everything like it never happened, which ticked me off. I said, "I will contact you when I know when I have somebody at that particular residence." I did. I contacted them, said, "I'm gonna have someone there this weekend," and they said, "Everything's been canceled. We can't come out." I would have to get ahold of Anerican Home Shield and set up a new appointment. So, we started all over again. Hopefully, tomorrow morning, they have the part because I haven't heard anything. Sometime between 9:00 and noon tomorrow, they will come out and put that in there. I have another gentleman making a special trip to that particular residence. It's a winter residence for us. We will find out if they show up on time and if they have the part.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience with your appointment and interactions with our staff. Your time matters, and we’re committed to resolving your dishwasher claim promptly. A service specialist will be reaching out to assist you further.

In my daughter's bathroom, if you flushed the toilet or emptied the shower, water was coming up through the sink. We made a claim with American Home Shield and the tech they sent out snaked it. I liked him and everything is fine now. Also, after a year of roof leaks, I have to put a new roof on my house. I put in a roofing claim last year and nobody came out. But I paid for it. When you pay extra for roofing coverage, and you pay the $125, but nobody comes out, that's wrong. Aside from that, I asked for the refund multiple times and I never got it. So, I’m disappointed.

My AC wasn't operating efficiently and it was having some issues with the dampers inside of the ducts opening and closing when they're supposed to. The work order through American Home Shield was opened on May 1. Somebody came out on the 9th of May for the first one, and evaluated what was wrong. They said that there were some parts that needed to be replaced. They had to get with American Home Shield to see if the warranty would cover them. About a month and a half later, I was trying to call American Home Shield, and I found out the work order is complete. I just thought we were waiting for parts to come in. American Home Shield said they didn't receive any paperwork from the contractor. That paperwork was never turned in, so nothing moved forward on it.
So, I played the phone tag game between American Home Shield. I would call them and they would say that they have to get ahold of the contractor and that they would call me back or the contractor would call me back. Then no one would call me back. After doing that about three times, I asked for a three-way call because somewhere along the lines, the ball gets dropped. After that, Mike, the owner of the repair company, called me and said, “Hey. We dropped the ball on this, so we're gonna make it right. I'm not gonna go through American Home Shield. My company's gonna cover it. We're gonna pay for it to replace these parts.” That was great.
However, in the process, I'd already submitted a complaint against American Home Shield. Here we are, three months later, with an AC issue that's unresolved. I live in southwest Georgia. It gets hot in the summertime here. So, trying to work through all that, Mike sent another contractor out who looked at it. He said two motors need to be replaced. He took pictures of them. So, that way, they can order them. He told me he would get back with me once he had parts in hand and then he would schedule a time that was good for him to come back out and install them. I didn't hear anything from him. It had been about two weeks. So, I called him. He said they were in. I had a Thursday, a Friday or a Saturday that was available for him to come out. I didn't hear anything, so I called on Friday.
I got ahold of Mike and he told me, “Well, I was trying not to go through American Home Shield, but you made this complaint against us.” I told him I didn't complain on them. I complained on American Home Shield because it's more of the companies that they choose sometimes. But he said due to the complaint, they're no longer gonna honor where he was gonna fix it.
In the meantime, the report that they turned in talked about a piece that was missing off of the system, and that was what was in the thing. American Home Shield wasn't going to pay for a piece that was missing. I told them a piece isn't missing. It was just these two motors that need to be replaced. Within that whole process, nothing ended up coming of it. So, then I ended up calling them back. Whoever I talked to said he was just gonna close that work order and open up a new one. I would have to pay the $100 service fee again but then since nothing was ever done with Mike's Clean Air, the $100 from that service order was gonna be refunded. I haven't received it yet. This is just two days ago. He said it would take three to five days.
I was shopping around for other home warranty companies. I was gonna cancel my policy because of this. I have had other claims with American Home Shield that took six months to reach a conclusion just because American Home Shield seems more interested in just throwing as many parts as they can at an appliance before finally breaking down and choosing to cover to replace it. I've had a washing machine where they had guys out and they tore it apart three or four times. Finally, the technician’s like, “I'm not taking this apart again.” American Home Shield finally decided they wanted to pay to replace it.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Fred. We’re glad the technicians were ultimately able to assist, but we’re truly sorry for the delays and communication issues you encountered. We understand how frustrating it can be when follow-up falls short—especially when it affects your comfort and peace of mind. We’re committed to improving our processes to ensure timely resolutions and clearer communication moving forward. The tech came out and did an assessment, and he said he had to order the parts. But I didn't know the parts were getting delivered to me. Then, it took him 30 days to come back to tell me he can't fix the washer. It ticked me off because when he first came on the 8th and saw that he couldn't fix it, he should have said so. He ordered some kind of tension belt, some rods and something else, and when he came, he said he couldn’t get the plate off. It was bent and unfixable. This is the same guy who came the first time. He made me wait for two months for a washer that we could have solved on the first day he came. I had to call American Home Shield four times, and I finally got a lady named Crystal. She would not give up. So, she solved the problem.
Sears told me they couldn’t fix it and the guy said the unit was unfixable, but they never reported that to American Home Shield. The other three times I called, I was told someone would contact me within 48 hours, and that never happened. I called back frustrated because it was taking too long. Crystal finally contacted Sears directly and found out that they never submitted that it was unfixable and needed to be replaced. Once they told her it could not be replaced, she was right on it. She sent me information on ordering a new washer. But after that, I never heard anything back.
This was my first claim with American Home Shield, and it was frustrating. I kept calling and was told the same thing every time, that they hadn’t heard back from Sears yet. I was repeatedly told to wait 48 hours. I finally received an email about ordering a new washer and submitted it. I was told I’d hear back within 48 hours, but that time passed and I still didn’t receive any follow-up email.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

The refrigerator was not working and there was an issue with the dishwasher. We asked American Home Shield for a service and we had a virtual visit wherein the diagnosis was done by the tech over the phone. He directed me to show him the refrigerator and the dishwasher. He decided that the reason for the refrigerator's problem was we needed a new compressor. Then, American Home Shield calculated and figured out that I needed to pay extra $527 because it was above the limitation on the refrigerator. They never showed me how they arrived at the number 527.2, but that was okay. So I paid the money then the technician came in, and couldn't fix the refrigerator saying that the compressor was fine and we didn't need a new one. He said that there were some minor things that needed to be done, and disappeared. Then, for months, I was getting very confusing signals and refrigerator never got it fixed.
So I put the $527 in dispute because the job was not done. I asked to get a calculation of what was going on, why the money was charged, and why the refrigerator is still not working. So it was going back and forth and back, we had many calls, and we talked to many people. Finally, American Home Shield offered the solution. We would find our own repairmen or company, and they should do the job. Then we pay them and American Home Shield would reimburse us. So now, we looked for a technician and one is supposed to come in today to check.
I was with American Shield for 27 years and I was satisfied. Everything was reasonably all right. But this time I don't know what happened. There's a number of people involved who were completely clueless. They wouldn't return calls, would not commit, and didn't do what I asked them to do. Bottom line, the claim for the refrigerator was put in July 8th, and we're in September now. Also, it turned out that I had to have surgery and my wife was overwhelmed running back and forth in trying to prepare food and to conduct normal things without a refrigerator.
The dishwasher was a different story. The technician came in, diagnosed things that needed to be done, then made an appointment to come and work on the dishwasher. Then on the same day that I was expecting him to come, he called and said that they canceled the appointment because I put this $527.2 in dispute on the refrigerator. But that had nothing to do with the dishwasher. So, all in all, the experience this time is a zero. American Home Shield used to be very good. But my recent experience with them was extremely bad.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience regarding the refrigerator repairs. I would be pleased to speak with you further to address any concerns or questions you may have.

I'm not a big American Home Shield fan. The first vendor for the dryer diagnosed the problem. It was more like an online diagnosis, and it was a very neat and innovative feature. He was able to diagnose it very accurately just from me FaceTiming him with it and him hearing the noise. That was a great feature. He ordered parts and on the website, it showed that parts were ordered. I kept calling that vendor afterwards, and they said they still had not received the parts yet from American Home Shield. That went on for a month and then, all of a sudden, I get a thing from American Home Shield saying, "Okay. We've closed off the service order," and asked me for a survey. But before I could do the survey, it disappeared.
American Home Shield reassigned the dryer repair to Able. When the guy came out, he diagnosed it pretty much the same way, ordered the parts, and this time, the parts came in about a week and a half. I was out at the time when they did come in, but as soon as I was back in, we scheduled and the technician came out and changed out the parts. The dryer has been working fine. In this instance Able and American Home Shield did fine. From the time I placed the original service to waiting 30 days to not get anything to getting these people involved, seven weeks had passed so that wasn't a favorable piece of mine with American Home Shield.
Part of my plan with American Home Shield is that I bought extended service to cover ejector pumps, which I understood that would be the ejector pump part of my sewage system. I had a problem with that and I paid my $125. It took a month for them to find a rep. They couldn't find a rep, so I suggested one who had installed the system come, and they said that would be fine. So they came out and diagnosed the unit. They weren't able to fix the unit because they had to get clearance from American Home Shield first to order the parts.
I was charged $500 just to make that service request and then American Home Shield said, "Hey. Well, this is an outside sewage ejector. We don't handle outside sewage ejectors, only inside sewage ejectors." So I told them, "My policy does not discriminate between the two. And you've been charging me for four or five years for sewage ejector service, and if you charge me that service and you don't cover it because it's an outside unit, although you didn't even say it was outside, I should at least be refunded what I paid for the additional service 'cause I bought insurance for something that's not covered." But they still said they were not gonna cover it.
I had to pay the firm who came out the first time, who could have fixed it right then and there, another $500. So, I had $1100 by the time I put the co-pay in upfront on this for something that would have only been $500 in the first place. Plus, God knows how much I've paid extra over the five years that I've had American Home Shield to handle this. So, to me, that was just a waste of my time. It was mild scale fraud, and it left me with a bitter taste. I've been trying to shop for another warranty service as a result of that. But due to time limitations, I haven't got there.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience regarding the dryer repairs. I would be pleased to speak with you further to address any concerns or questions you may have.

Our oven was not working. FNA Appliance Repair came out and fixed it. They were awesome. They asked us for the oven make prior to coming, so when they came, they had the part that was needed. We've never had anybody ask us for the number of the oven before. We've had other things like our microwave fixed, and the service people would have to come. They would look at it and then they would get the part. So, I was impressed that FNA thought presumptively and got the number of our appliances so that when they came, they had parts that may have been used or needed on that one. They got our stove working.
This claim was one of the better ones that we've had. They were prompt. They got to us right away. So, I was super pleased with this latest service. We've had American Home Shield for years. There was a time where it was really difficult. We waited one time for three weeks for an air conditioner fixed. It seems like more recently though, maybe some things have improved. The customer service and the quality of service with American Home Shield is improving. There was a time when we were not happy at all.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We’re delighted to hear that we could exceed your expectations this time around and that the technician was well-prepared with the necessary part. We're also pleased to know our service has improved over the years and has lead you to recommend us. We told American Home Shield the model of our refrigerator that needed repair, and they assigned this person. He took one look at it and said, "I don't handle these kinds of models," and he left. I'm already six days without a refrigerator. Then Sears came out. They took one look and they said they were gonna order the parts.. They claimed the part was ordered, and I was calling on a regular basis. Between calling American Home Shield and Sears, I determined after a couple of days that the part was not really ordered. They were still looking for the part because the manufacturer discontinued the part. American Home Shield said we have three weeks to try to find it. So, I was supposed to be five weeks without a refrigerator.
Finally, after a lot of pushing and calling lots of times, American Home Shield agreed that it was time that they would allow me for an appliance replacement instead. About two hours after they left, I got an email from Sears saying they found the part and it's ordered and it's on the way. American Home Shield kept the replacement going because they didn't pay me the money. I got two more emails from Sears in the next couple of days saying the part is delayed. Today, I have an email from them that also says the part is delayed.
There's absolutely no way to expedite matters in the case of emergencies or in case of something like being without a refrigerator that would need immediate attention. Their vendors were clearly not prepared by sending me one that couldn't cover the appliance. They should not have a three-week window to try to find a replacement part when you have a broken appliance. As far as the customer service, they are required to read scripts and they're not allowed to do anything out of the box. There was one nice person that called back, though. AHS also has increased the price over the last few years a whole bunch of times to the point where I'm considering canceling especially when I have headaches.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

The AC capacitor had expired and the fan wasn't coming on, and it was very easy to place a claim through the American Home Shield website. The tech replaced the capacitors and everything’s working as expected since then. The service is good and I would highly recommend American Home Shield as long as the price stays within reason.
I've had American Home Shield since we moved in, which is about ten years. We stopped their service a little bit last year for about six months because their price went too high. We didn't see the value in it at that point because there are so many other places that have lower monthly payments. But everything’s been great the second time around. They doubled the price again this year, but it's still way below what I was paying previously. So okay with that. But if they go much higher than what they're at now, I'll probably change again. It all comes down to the monthly cost. I understand that their cost is going up, too. But that's a them problem, not a me problem.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that you found the claim submission process simple and appreciated the excellent service from our contractor. I submitted a claim with AHS and Kemp Heating and AC was here the next morning. The tech was good. However, I thought, when I paid my $125, that that would cover whatever they did. But I had to pay more because he had to put in Freon. AHS only covers 1 pound of Freon. I'm 75 years old and I bought AHS because I have to live on Social Security only. So when you say you have that deductible, and then up comes this additional cost, it really hurt me as far as my bank account. To top it all off, I put the claim in twice and my granddaughter tried to cancel one of them for me because I didn't know how to do that. She said she got it canceled, but they took out two $125. I got a refund, but it took a few days.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Marie. We’re glad Kemp Heating was able to restore your A/C quickly and that the technician provided quality service. The technician from Myers Comfort determined that my washing machine can’t be fixed because the part is no longer available. After a few days, I hadn’t heard from American Home Shield, so I called them. They had it noted that the technician was supposed to return to the house, and I told the representative that the technician said he couldn’t fix it and that he was putting that in. I called Myers, and the woman figured out that the technician had accidentally marked that he was supposed to come back out, when in reality the part couldn’t be found. She was very nice and said she would get everything in the pipeline so I could finally get a new washing machine. I was a little put out, but people make mistakes, and it was merely an accident that the technician accidentally put down that he was supposed to come back out. I liked the technician and he did a good job.
My main issue with American Home Shield is how long everything takes. I found out two Tuesdays ago that my washing machine wasn’t working, but they couldn’t get a repairman to my house until eight days later, the following Tuesday. Right now, I also don’t know how long it will take them to offer me a replacement washing machine, or whether I’ll have an issue with the amount they offer compared to what I had.
In the past, American Home Shield replaced a hot water heater, and that seemed fine. The next was my air conditioner. It went out in the middle of the summer, and they couldn’t get anyone out for a long time. I ended up using my own technician, but American Home Shield paid for at least most of it. It's frustrating that you pay, but it takes a long time from when you call until a repairman comes out, especially in situations like 95-degree weather without air conditioning or when you need a washing machine.

The washing machine was putting grease all over my clothes. This is the first claim I've ever submitted a claim to AHS and it was easy but the process was not. I called on the 4th of August. A man came out from Sears on the 5th. He was having a dispute with them on the phone about which parts he needed, because he felt that one of the parts did not come together. He had to order four parts total.
He set up my installation for the 22nd of August, which I thought was pretty far out. But they said they don't have a warehouse where they keep parts, that the parts were gonna be shipped to my house. I got the parts on the 14th. I called them if they can move my appointment up. Instead of moving the appointment up, they moved it back to the 26th.
On the 26th, the service man did not show up. I called to check if there is a time I can expect him in particular. They told me that he was due at my house between 11:00 and 2:00. It was already 3 o'clock and so I knew that wasn't gonna happen. The repairman who came the first time to evaluate the problem came back with another guy. They did the installation on the 27th.
The techs were great. They obviously knew exactly what they were doing. They said it was a very easy install because of where my washing machine was. It wasn't in a closet somewhere where they would have trouble pulling it out.
One thing I didn't like was that I misunderstood what the man was saying while he was out evaluating my problem. He asked when was the last time I cleaned the inside of my dryer. I said that I empty the vent, the lint catcher. He said he can do that. I asked if it was included in the service today and he said yes. He took it all apart and vacuumed it all out, which was great. At the end, he gave me a $50 bill. So, I had to pay $50 for that. I would have never done it had I known it wasn't included in that trip. But I like the fact that they responded so quickly on the first call for the claim. I would recommend AHS. I got a discounted rate for the year. It was a very good value. Use them, but be smart about what you're doing.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience, Frances. We’re glad to hear the initial claim process was smooth and that the repair was ultimately completed successfully. We also appreciate your kind words about the technicians and the value you see in our coverage. We sincerely apologize for the scheduling confusion and the missed appointment—it’s clear how frustrating that must have been. American Home Shield was easy to use. You just click on a button on their website to file your claims. We got the warranty when we bought a new house in Houston. The previous owner gave us some money for it and we added the extra to have a better coverage. Recently, they sent out Astral Appliance to work on my laundry machine that was leaking. They replaced the rubber, so it doesn't leak anymore. But there was a few other issues. In the beginning, the softener wasn't going through every 10 times, so it was almost never going. Some place was a little bit obstructed, so the tech de-obstructed it.
Then, because sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesn't go through, I called him back. But he said that was perfectly fine which I find weird. He explained to me that there is water coming and that it can be normal. I then realized after I signed the paperwork that it says water in it. But the problem was with the softener. And now, when I checked the website, it says my last request for service was denied. So, I don't understand why he didn't fix it because he told me that if it doesn't get better, he'd come back and fix it. And now, he said there is nothing to fix.
Hopefully, I'm not going to have to pay for the fact that he came and didn't fix the thing that he said is not fixable. I really have some doubts about what he said that it's normal to have water, because it's not water. It's a mixture. I also know that the softener sometimes goes through and sometimes it does not. Other than that, I'm really satisfied with American Home Shield. I'm planning to use the service again to have the TV mounted. But I'm still waiting for my husband to buy the fixture.
Thank you for your detailed feedback, Veronique. We're glad to hear your first claim experience went smoothly and that you found our online tools easy to use. We also appreciate your interest in exploring future coverage options. We understand your frustration with the denied washer claim. While the technician determined the issue was within normal operation, we recognize how that can still feel unsatisfactory—especially when it differs from your past experiences with similar appliances. I needed my salt system replaced and Premium Pool wanted $6,000 to do a $3,700 job. I ended up going out of network and American Home Shield gave me $2,975 to do the cash option. I would love to see that statement removed from the contract, saying that unless I contact them first, they won't approve the service.
I had the HVAC guys come over to my house a few days ago to service the HVAC and check the Freon levels. They found out during that time that the disconnect box was wired incorrectly. It fried our Google Nest 4th Gen that was just installed, and the fan compressor motor was overworking, which was making the lights in the house dim. While they were there, they told me that my fan compressor needed to be changed and my disconnect is unsafe because it's not actually disconnecting. The electricity is still flowing even when you pull the plug. When I contacted American Home Shield, they said they were not gonna pay for that. So, I had to pay $2,900 out of pocket for all of that.

We understand your concerns about pricing and reimbursement. I set up the claim online with American Home Shield and after the first visit, the issue still wasn’t resolved. They sent out a different contractor, which was Clean Air Act. They diagnosed why the automatic shutoff was happening in our AC and fixed the issue completely. The tech just opened up a drain and made sure that everything was clear. They were exceptional and gave us tips and tricks to keep that from happening again in the future. I would recommend them for any of the HVAC stuff that could exist. On the other hand, my experience with American Home Shield is 50-50.

It was done in a timely manner.

There was a broken sewage pipe underneath the house, but it was also clogged. When I noticed that the line was broken, I had already known that the line was clogged up. We looked up underneath and we could tell where it was clogged up. There was a part of the sewage line that was bust open and things were beginning to accumulate there. It was backing up into some of the toilets. So, we knew what needed to be done. I had to pay for service twice though. So, the first time the claim was put in, it was for them to come out and unclog it, and they did. The second time, I had to call them out and pay another service fee to get them to repair that break in the line. So, there was some miscommunication somewhere between me and the person that I talked to at American Home Shield. There was a miscommunication with what needed to be done.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us about your recent plumbing service under the warranty with American Home Shield. We strive to provide seamless service arrangements, and it's unfortunate that there were miscommunications resulting in double service charges. Maybe it is the service providers, but I have had a very poor service experience. I own/manage four rental properties in two states, so have four policies. This year I had to order services at a vacant property. One service went smoothly as planned, scheduling through the property manager flor keys and access. The other service provider, Platinum, informed me that I had to be at the property in person. I am a senior citizen who does not drive so had to hire a person to drive me the 120 miles to the property. That service provider's office set the date and time of the service, Friday, August 8th from 2-6pm. I verified that in phone calls and texts with the company, even calling the day before to verify date and time.
We drove to the property manager office to get the keys. Around 1 pm on the 8th, I received a call from the service tech saying he would "be here soon." I told him we were across town and would get there asap. Our appointment was for 2pm. We were over half hour away in traffic. He said he could not wait and hung up, telling me to reschedule while I was begging him to stop by later. He never called or came by.
I called his office to see if they could message him that we would be at the property until 6pm and would wait for him. The office told me that my appointment was for 1pm and I had "failed" my appointment! When I told the Platinum office person that I have a written message from them confirming my appointment from 2-6pm, he said they never make such appointments! I let him know that I have it in writing and will provide the information to whoever needs to see it! He was not pleasant.
I called AHS and they set things straight with the provider and told me to set another appointment with the provider, which I did, paying a fee for what was not covered by my policy. I had at least two more calls from the provider asking for payment. When I reported it had been made, they checked and verified that. Then I got another call, who checked again and verified that the payment had been made. This person told me that they could arrange access with the property manager, whose information I provided again.
Apparently, they did call the manager, but did not meet the appointment they set with her. She reports they showed up on a different day without notice. AHS shows an entry for service on a Saturday. When I called the provider, I was told that the tech went to the property and nobody was home, then he called and left a message and left. I watch my phone and never had a call from the tech. He should have called the property manager anyway, this was vacant property. Of course, nobody is home! The tech failed the appointment with the property manager, then showed up on a different day without notice or appointment--and reported to his employer that the owner failed to be there!!!!!
This is the worst kind of service, wastes time and energy and money for all concerned. I would not recommend Platinum for any work. It appears that their systems are not connected. Their office does not know what their techs are doing and the techs do not know or care what the office had told the customer. Everyone is ignorant of what has been said or done, but very sure of themselves, annoyingly so!

I always do a representative when I file claims with American Home Shield because I wanna make sure that what I selected is what I actually need. The AC unit that was completely out needed a coil and another part that goes with it. When the other guy came out to put it on, he said, "I don't think that's it. I really think it may be the compressor." I said, "Probably." I had somebody on the side to come and look, and he said it needed all of that. I just wanted to see what they would say. It needed the compressor, but it didn't work. It needed a thermostat. It needed four things. When the other guy came out, that is what happened. The unit came on. It's loud compared to the newer unit, but that's okay. I could tell that it's on.
When MaxAir came out, one of the technicians was very thorough. He said I may end up paying something, but it wouldn't be as much, depending on what it is. With the other thing, I had to pay 580 as opposed to 8000. Also, AHS was thorough with everything in my contract. However, don't do the Gold membership. I had it, and it's 105 a month. It's a bit pricey. I've been paying out of pocket for one unit, but I can't afford it for two units. You gotta go all the way up to the top tier, which is the Platinum. You have to wait until you're ready for renewal so you can get your membership changed.

I'd recommend American Home Shield. I bought my home where my son is in December 2001 and I've had AHS the whole time. When I got married, moved in with my husband, I got AHS for that home. United Air came out and diagnosed that my system was tripping the circuit breaker. They weren't able to fix the issue, but they put in a ticket for an electrician. Then someone came out and inspected the circuit breaker to verify that it was tripping and indicated that I needed more amperage. But right now, I'm still without air. So I'm gonna have to redo a service call or I'm gonna get an electrician to take a look at that. It's not the original issue so there may be an additional service charge. But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. In fact, have recommended them to a friend. The key piece is how they service. Each service technician or each service organization is different. The air conditioner was running, but the temperature kept going up and it would stop cooling. The technician from Affordable Heating tried to do something and it didn't work. So, I had them come back out again. They claimed after that that there was mildew and water inside the air conditioner, which was why it wasn't working. American Home Shield denied the claim because of mildew and water. I told them that an air conditioner is going to have water and mildew over time. It's 20 years old. But they wouldn't pay to have it replaced. I had to pay it out of my own pocket.
AHS did great at the beginning. It has become a little bit tighter now with regard to what they're willing to pay for. I've never had this issue until this particular AC unit. AHS had replaced another one of my AC units, so it was weird that they denied this one. AHS is willing to repair things but not willing to replace them.

With the way that American Home Shield works, people open a claim then they assign a vendor to work it. People pay the $100 fee and they come out and repair whatever needs to be repaired. I did a claim online and the contractor they sent out was good. Everything is working properly. On a different note, American Home Shield has been making changes in the way they do business lately and I wouldn't recommend it because they keep going up in price and they want to narrow the scope as to what they are covering.

My refrigerator was leaking and after it was fixed by the contractor, Asset Services, the base of the refrigerator started heating up. I called American Home Shield to let them know, and then I called Asset Services. But the lady said I need to call AHS back. I just got a runaround and AHS never reissued the claim. The icemaker was supposed to be fixed, which was an additional issue, but no one came to fix it. So, I'm not satisfied with the service. The refrigerator is still hot.
It's becoming very frustrating with American Home Shield, and I'm about to cancel it because I’ve also had ongoing issues with my air system. AHS patched a refrigerant leak instead of fixing it properly, and when it failed again, I was told repairs would cost thousands out of pocket. I ended up replacing the entire system for $5,800, and AHS only contributed $300. They are a rip-off. They can never fix anything, and I spent all this money with them. I’ve had this warranty for about 15 years, pay $146 a month, plus $125 to get someone to come out, and am repeatedly told my issues aren’t covered. And they don’t give my money back. At this point, it’s a waste of money.

This is an absolute disgrace of a business model, and I can't believe anyone would fall for this blatant rip-off. If you're dumb enough to buy into this scam, prepare to throw away $100+ for each service request, only to have American Home Shield send out a shady, unreliable repair company that refuses to even finish the job. When you finally find someone who’s actually willing to do the work, AHS will deny the claim outright, leaving you with nothing but empty promises and a pile of out-of-pocket costs.
This so-called “home warranty” is a complete joke. Don’t even bother trying to get through their nightmarish call center where no one has a clue what’s going on. It’s like they’re purposefully designed to waste your time, ignore your complaints, and bleed every last cent from you. They thrive on preying on vulnerable, hard-working people who get nothing in return. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this scam as possible. All you'll get is your $100+++ down the drain, denied claims, and the insulting feeling that you've been utterly swindled. It’s nothing more than a legal way to steal from people.

Regarding your other comments on our service: while I understand that there are times when we at AHS miss the mark - there are many more times that we succeed. AHS could not have lasted over 50 years while providing service to over 2.09 million Americans without providing quality coverage. AHS is the most extensive home warranty service in the United States. Reviews by outside agencies show that our customers are among the most satisfied of home warranty holders.
AHS does not deny claim coverage out of hand as you asserted. We authorize or deny coverage based upon the diagnosis of certified, trained technicians and per the terms outlined in the contract agreement.

When I moved in my home, the people that lived here had American Home Shield. I decided to keep it because it was cheaper at the time. Also, it has not been difficult to get in touch with anyone. The difficulties lie in trying to find someone who I can understand and can understand what I'm saying. There's a language barrier there. The premiums and the contractors that AHS uses need a lot of improvement.
My air conditioning went out and it was 100 degrees outside. When I first called American Home Shield, they assigned me to Heber Air Conditioning. They never called me. They never replied. I kept trying to call them but couldn't get anybody to answer. I kept going to a voice message. I called AHS back and said I need them to assign me someone else because it's 100 degrees in this house. However, they said they had a 48-hour wait before they could give me anybody else.
I pay $100 a month as a premium, and I have to pay $100 when the technician comes out. One came out recently to fix my air conditioner. I needed Freon, which is $110 a pound. However, AHS only paid $10 a pound. How are they helping me? It was a rip-off. I was out of $500 myself for the air conditioner. Don't get AHS. Save your money in a home improvement account. When an emergency comes up, you'll have the money.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and your longstanding relationship with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the air conditioner repair and the difficulties faced during the resolution process.

I would think long and hard about buying any warranty from American Home Shield. Their service used to be wonderful.. I had three policies with them. I haven't had to file a claim in a while but noticed their rates increased greatly. I just this week had to file three claims; one for bathroom sink issue which was resolved quickly; one for a kitchen sink that needed a new faucet.. for which the contractor told me I'd have to pay for the faucet myself and just left; and one for a pressure tank that they denied.. calling it a storage tank which it is not.. even though my policy covered pressure tank regulators...
I'm cancelling my policies with them.. Their service time is too long.. This has been going on over a week now.. My kitchen sink is still leaking.. I had to buy the faucet myself; and now I have to pay for a pressure tank that their contractor said he could install after he sent paperwork and waited for approval... Not playing that game again.. Been having to turn water on and off for a week now.. Just called another company... They will be here today.
This policy cost me over $1000 a year and I haven't filed a claim in almost two years... and this is the service I get now... PATHETIC! I'm filing a complaint with the NC Insurance Board and I'm taking them to small claims court to recoup my costs... Customer service was a joke.. Could hardly understand the girl but basically.. it was like she was reading off a script... She just kept repeating the same lines..no matter what you said... Tried to find a phone number for parent company... They keep that pretty well hidden.

Terrible First Experience – Avoid This Company. This was my first time using this company, and it has been a horrible experience from start to finish. I submitted a repair request for a brand-new washer, and the service provider they assigned had numerous one-star reviews — many of which included warnings about scams and unethical behavior. Despite these serious concerns, the company refused to assign a different repair provider. When I contacted customer service, I was met with a representative who clearly had limited English proficiency and seemed to be reading from a script. No matter how clearly I expressed my safety concerns, I was repeatedly told they would not consider any other repair company.
To make matters worse, I was forced to pay a $100 fee upfront before I could even view or choose a service provider. That fee is now lost, and I received no help at all. When a company refuses to listen to customer concerns — especially regarding safety and trust — it’s a huge red flag. Between the lack of support, poor service, and non-refundable fee, this entire experience feels like a scam. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concerns with the AHS pro we assigned to you. I read and understand your concerns. I will be contacting you via email on your washer work order and the concerns you have with the AHS pro.Best regards,

There wasn't a leak, but there was an unpleasant smell. They replaced the component under the commode, and since then, everything has been in good working order. When it came time to alert AHS about the issue, I called their support. I dealt with their automated system, which I don’t like. However, I didn't notice any delay or change in the time it took them to respond because of it. If a family member or friend were to inquire about my experience with American Home Shield, I'd recommend them as a beneficial service to have. I handle most things over the phone, as I don't use their online services.

I like American Home Shield. But they contract out to different companies. They just have to be aware of the company. Hoback came out here before for the furnace and I didn't like their service. The gentleman that came out was on the phone on hold. I went in there to talk to him and I didn't know he was conducting business. You can't come into a client's house and be conducting your own personal business on the phone. He didn't do anything. He went straight to the unit and then he hooked something up to the wire. Then he went outside and told me that my wires needed to be replaced. But the wires didn't need to be replaced. The issue was something else when Precision came out and they got the unit working. But I was very dissatisfied. I put in a complaint with American Home Shield about Hoback and the gentleman that they sent out to me.
When the gentleman came out who said the problem was the wiring, I had to pay a $125 deductible, and then American Home Shield was going to charge me an additional $125. But I told them, “Well, why would I have to pay an additional $125 when my problem wasn't resolved? And I'm still working off the other $125.” I had to explain to them that I was dissatisfied with their response because they said they couldn't waive it. I told them that I've been a customer with them for 10 years and if they're willing to lose a customer over $125, then so be it. They said if they came up with the same issue, I would have to pay the $125. If they came up with a different diagnosis, then I wouldn’t. But I told them, “Well, I feel that either way it go, I shouldn't have to pay an additional $125, period.” When the rep came back, they waived it, so that was fine.
I'm always recommending American Home Shield. But you have to be mindful as to who they're sending out to you. You never know who's going to come to your home. I've dealt with Precision before, and they're a little more sufficient. The young man who came out was pretty good. I haven't had a problem with Precision except the last time. Something else had happened because it went back out. But that's not a problem because if anything goes wrong or you have any more problems within that 30 days, they'll come back out. So they came back out and fixed the problem. When I originally started out with American Home Shield, I was paying $50.99 and now it's $109. It constantly keeps going up but nothing has changed with my plan. So, I don't understand. They constantly keep going up on their prices, but I am not aware that they're going up.
Hello Norma, and thank you for your review. I'm sorry to see that our technician from Hoback incorrectly identified the service failure, but I'm glad that the next vendor we assigned was able to resolve the issue for you.
I'm also glad to see that per your rating, your overall service experience from AHS has been a good one. Please know that we truly appreciate your business.

I do my claims by phone and the customer experience is great. They understand me and I understand them. We're on the same page of what we're trying to get accomplished.

Everything went smooth in my recent claim experience with AHS. The guy was very responsive and he kept me updated. However, AHS still needs to improve their communication, in terms of information. Because if it wasn't because I was checking the website, calling and asking, they really didn't inform me of anything.
Thank you for providing AHS with such valuable feedback regarding your recent experience and the completed repairs. Your input helps us improve our customer service, and I’d be glad to discuss your experience further if you’d like.

There was a couple of times that Sears came out on the same item. I did the initial service call online using American Home Shield's website. The second time, I contacted the customer service at AHS and they made arrangements to have them come out again. The Sears technician, initially, said that the cooktop itself was functioning the way it should, but it wasn't receiving enough power to take and correct the problem. He checked the electrical connections and made a recommendation that an electrician come out and look at the situation, which after he filed his report, American Home Shield arranged for that and the electrician came up. Everything worked properly after the electrician.
The cooktop is working fine now. The only thing is American Home Shield sent Sears out twice. The same technician came out and he assessed the problem the same way twice. So, I think that was a little bit of a wasted effort. Otherwise, Sears themselves was fine. Their service technician was very good at what he did. The electrician was very good at what he did as well. I just think they got caught up in the red tape a little bit.
Hello Wayne. Thank you for your feedback. I'm pleased to see that our service vendors were able to correctly identify and resolve the problem for you. I apologize for the minor inconvenience you experienced with the Sears portion of the service call.

When I did a claim online for my air conditioning unit, the process took a little bit too long. I figured American Home Shield had to find somebody in the area. That was when it was 90 degrees, and the AC guys were all busy so I understand that. For a couple of days, the air conditioning unit was making a loud noise when it was starting and when the repairman came out, he put in a new capacitor. He checked everything including the levels of freon, and it has been running well since. American Home Shield is good to have.

I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield because their contractors are so bad. It's good, but they hire the contractors. Ice was accumulating outside of our AC unit, so I did a claim for it. They had Metro Air Services come but they didn't do anything. They didn't even spend one minute in my house and they said, "This is the problem," and it was not. I wasted my money. I hired a private company and they came and said, "Oh, the motherboard is not working." The AC is perfect now.

I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield. People will have the issues with the service technicians coming out and diagnosing the correct problem. I like the customer service, but they need to make sure that they have technicians that are local. My washer wasn't agitating correctly, the dishwasher wouldn't turn on, and a burner on my stovetop wasn't regulating properly. To submit the claim, I initially used American Home Shield's app, followed by a phone call, which was an easy process. However, it's the part after that that gets sticky. It's regarding them sending out reputable service providers.
They wanna send people from Tennessee and I'm in Louisiana. They wanna send people from Baker and that's still a long way off from where I am. It's hit or miss. You get a provider that would come out, and they would complete the job but I would have to call back because I haven't heard again from them after their initial visit. Or they came out and gave a report that they couldn't fix it, but I would call and get a second opinion and the next technician AHS would send out would actually provide the service. I've had them for 20 years. That's why I'm so upset about what's going on.

The fan in the unit would come on and blow while the unit was off. I was trying to find out why it was doing that. Each time the person from American Home Shield came, only thing he did was turn it off at the thermostat and turn it back on. He came three times and did the same thing. They never looked at the unit.
Now, if I hired them as an independent company, they would go and look at it. But through American Home Shield, if the unit is functioning, if it turns on, it turns off when tested, they consider that no defect and they can't do anything else. So that was the end of that. That was on the third visit. I didn't call them anymore.
According to AHS’s contract, even if they have to replace something, they're only gonna go up to $5,000. And a new heating and cooling system is double that. So I didn't even want to be bothered anymore. I even asked them if they could send somebody else, another contractor. They said, no, they couldn't. If the same problem is going on, that person that they assigned has to come back. They came back three times. Three strikes, you’re out.
I said, "I have had other home warranty companies. They would at least go and see and try to pinpoint what the problem is." I had to go outside of AHS and call somebody who identified the problem, but I had to pay for it. And then I canceled American Home Shield.

I had to wait two weeks before I could have air right in the middle of summertime. The guy from Cold Air came out, diagnosed a problem, and said he was going on vacation and would be back until the next week. I was without air. He said he told American Home Shield that he was gonna be away. So, that was between him and American Home Shield. It's just if he was gonna be away for a whole week, he could have conducted that better. There was a part that has to be ordered and he had the part delivered when he got back, which was a week later. And when he got back and got the part, what they ordered was wrong. So, I had to wait another week for them to readjust the order and for him to come out and complete the job suffocating in the heat. Our AC needed a part replaced. The work that the technician did was fine. They had to order a part and had to come back in about five days. In the end, they addressed the issue. The technician and American Home Shield are two different things in my eyes. The technician, at some point, was refusing to get a ladder which he knew he was gonna need. When I was waiting for someone to bring the ladder, he was trying to leave. We were having to call his supervisor to get him to stay. It was really a lot. Other than that, his work was good and the AC is working.
As far as American Home Shield, they are the worst. I'm actively looking for other services. This is not the first time I had this issue. It took them three weeks for me to even get a technician out, and then another week for the technician to fix it. We had no air in our home for almost a month in the heat of July. When I first reached out to them, they assigned a technician. That technician called me that same day and told me they don't do high rise apartments, so they couldn't come. I asked them if they would let American Home Shield know and they said I could tell them.
I immediately called American Home Shield who then said they had to reach out to the company to confirm that they said this, and then they'd assign somebody else. So, they called the company. The company confirmed. AHS said they were gonna assign somebody else. I waited a couple of days. No one was ever assigned. I called back, and they said, “Oh, well this has been marked as unable to get access.” I told them that was not true. No one ever came out. The technician told me that they couldn't do the work because it was a high-rise. Not only was it marked as that, but they had closed it out. I told them that was unacceptable. They said they'd see if they could find somebody else. They said I would hear from a supervisor because at that point, I was frustrated.
I didn't hear from a supervisor. I called back in a day or so, and no one was still assigned. Then they said they don't have anyone who could do the work so they were not able to help me with it. I paid for someone out of my pocket to come look at my system. I called them back and said, “No. You all need to find someone. If you have a list of technicians and none of them do it, then you need to find someone else or give me the money to find a technician. I've already paid somebody out of my pocket.” They said they could find somebody, but I'm gonna have to pay again. I just paid another guy $100 to come out, and they were telling me to pay another $100.
They said they refunded the first $100, so I could just give that back to them. At that point, I haven't received the refund. They said there was nothing they could do if I didn't pay again, so I paid again. I finally got a person out. Because of all these conversations back and forth and me arguing with them, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. It took three weeks for them to even get a person out the first time. It was a mess. This is not my first time having a similar experience with them, too. I don't like them.

The tech from A-US Air didn't communicate very well. I wasn't really impressed with that company and on the man. Then I got charged $275 extra because he said that the cleaning of the AC outside wasn't included in my plan. I put out the $100 service fee, so I paid 375 for this whole visit just for him to go outside for two seconds. He just cleaned one side of the AC outside. He didn't take it apart. For 275, he did very little, and he wasn't very informative about anything. I’m thinking about just going to a different home warranty because if that's gonna be the case, then I'm gonna be double-charged and I can't afford that.

Extreme Heating & Air kept coming out and they kept telling me to turn the AC off before they came for at least 12 hours, so when he would come, he would be able to turn it back on. The first time, he said there was nothing wrong with it at all. It just needed new air filters. But they’re only six months because Home Depot comes out to my house and does a check on them too for me. The AC turned cool for a day. Then, I had to call the techs back. They came again and put some more Freon in the AC and changed the coolant. It lasted for a half a day, and then went out again. When I called him and he came out again, I was told to turn it off and he said it was turning back on and cooling. I told him it does not cool and my house is 95 degrees. They said there was nothing wrong, so I requested a second opinion. I called American Home Shield again because the house was still hot, and they sent someone back out who again said there was no issue. After that, AHS approved a second opinion.
The second technician immediately said the motor was blown. Once it was confirmed, they replaced the motor. Because it was a second opinion, it had to go through an additional approval step with American Home Shield, which took about four or five days. The system is working fine now. Overall, AHS is very responsive but with this latest experience, they did not take into consideration the weather conditions with expediting my second opinion. They made me go another round, so that was not a good experience.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I had a six-week long problem with an oven, and it was simple to fix. I made a service request with American Home Shield and the first tech they sent out was from AG. At this point in time, the oven worked except on bake mode. So you could broil and use the convection. The tech was a really nice kid and he was right out of trade school. He said the oven was 20 years old, so he didn't think they'd be able to fix it because he didn't think they'd be able to get the part. Then he said he was going to order two parts. I then called American Home Shield and I had to wait 40 minutes to get somebody on the line who was in customer service. However, they said they couldn't anything until they got the report from the technician. And that kid took three days to file a report.
American Home Shield's reps also had this complete talk track that they understood you were frustrated and that they were there to help. They said they were going to call AG Appliance and I told them good luck with that because I've been calling them for a week and their answering machine was fool. In the end, it took 10 days before the tech came back out and he still couldn't fix my oven. I don't know where American Home Shield gets their technicians, but this is Southern California and it's a lot more expensive than $99 to make a house call here. And these people are not competent. They have no idea what they're doing.
I finally told their customer service rep that I need them to escalate this and I asked to speak to a manager. When I got to her, she was really nice. She gave me her name and the same cellphone number which gets you absolutely nowhere but in a 40-minute loop line. Also, you couldn't rely on the website for the status of the claim. At the time, we were at two and a half weeks into this simple repair. American Home Shield then called back and said that they moved my service request over to Techno Appliance, which I am familiar with because they fixed my Bosch and GE Profile appliances. I've had them out before and their tech was a perfectly confident guy who doesn't speak English, but I don't care about that. He always has a handler with him who's the English-speaking person. He said it was going to be 10 days to get the part and this is the same part they just got from AG.
So he gets the part two weeks later and I hear nothing from them. So, now, it's been six weeks. I called American Home Shield, then I called Techno again to get an update. Then I got a text that said he would be at my house next Thursday at 9:30. By then, I had been at home waiting for these people. The first time was when the first tech came out to look at the oven. The second time was when he ordered the part. The third time was when the second tech came out to order the same part. So, I am not happy with American Health Shield. It's a scam.
In the end, my oven got fixed and it took six weeks. But I could have probably done it with a YouTube video. American Health Shield needs to do a better job with their customer service and with the technicians that they employ. They get the bottom of the barrel because who is gonna work for that low price? So we get what we pay for. I've had that this policy for seven years and I've used it twice. There were many times I didn't bother calling them because I couldn't wait six weeks. But it happened to be the summer and I don't use the oven that much in the summer. If it had been my washing machine or dishwasher, I would have just gone around it and got a new appliance. Because you cannot waste this kind of time with these people. Other than that, their online call in thing does work effectively. Because you sign it up and they have to get back to you in 72 hours, and they always do, which is fairly amazing.
Cathy, thank you for sharing your feedback with. We apologize for the delay in servicing your oven as we understand the appliance is essential in your everyday life. We appreciate your recognition of our online service request system and will use your comments to help strengthen the rest of our service experience.
Thank you for being a long-time customer—we value your trust and are committed to earning it back.

I'm very disappointed with American Home Shield. I have a claim for my refrigerator that has been going on since June 20th. The techs have come out four times already but it's still not fixed. When the first tech came out, he unsteamed the ice and did something with the water plug in the back. But four hours later, the problem was still be there. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent them back out. The second guy said it needed a part, so they ordered it. When it arrived at our home, I let them know and two days later, the first guy came out and put in the part that the second guy ordered. But the next day, I still had ice in the back and I had water coming down at the bottom on the refrigerator. It was putting ice all over my food and everything in the freezer.
So the second tech came back on a Tuesday and ordered another part. When it arrived, he came back out. But the refrigerator was still not fixed. They ordered another part then a guy came out and he did everything over. We told him that they keep doing the same thing, replacing the parts, but it was not working. Something needed to be done. The manager is supposed to call me on Monday, but since it was a holiday, I haven't heard from them yet. American Home Shield says that they have to have the service guy say what they think and if I need a replacement or not. But the tech we talked to said that that was not true. He said that American Home Shield told them to replace everything as long as they can. So, I've been back and forth and I'm very upset right now.
I've been with American Home Shield for 11 years and I never had this problem before at all. I will also tell my friends not to go to them anymore. After they resolve this, I'm looking for someone else. Before this happened, they got my problems fixed. But for this refrigerator, I have been complaining with them for four years now. They have replaced everything else like they were supposed to. They even went up to $104 a month but the service is getting worse. They're wasting my time and the contractor's because I only pay $100 deductible when they come out. But if they don't fix the problem, they're still coming out.
We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience with your refrigerator claim. We understand that this unit is an essential appliance in your home, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
We’d appreciate the opportunity to discuss your claim further and work with you directly to find a solution. A service specialist will follow up with you to address your concerns.

I'm paying American Home Shield on a regular basis for this coverage, but when there was an issue with my hot water heater, I ended up having to pay out-of-pocket because American Home Shield didn't have a vendor who could get to my home overnight and there was no way to stop the water from leaking without having the technician come.
Recently, the upstairs AC unit stopped working and there was a leak from the attic to the ceiling upstairs in the hallway. I made a claim and American Home Shield assigned Air Design to come out. Their tech got the work done in a timely manner because I was able to assist. He came without an extension cord and thankfully, I had one that was long enough. He needed it for the wet vac in order to remove the water that was upstairs. I was told that the technician used bleach to clear the line of the HVAC unit that's upstairs in my attic, and that he also cleaned the two units that are outside on the side of my home. Since the service, I have not had any more issues with the HVAC.
But I am still waiting for the tech to reply to my correspondence. I received an email from Air Design on July 30th asking me to give feedback regarding my experience, so I responded to that email on the same day. I also let him know that I am a student attorney under Georgia Rule 91 and that I was quoted one price for the cleaning of the units on the side of my house but I was charged a different amount. I let American Home Shield know that as well. I still have yet to hear back from him, so I followed up and told him it's been 30 days and still haven't heard from him.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. At AHS, our goal is to provide a smooth and reliable experience for every member, and we’re sorry to hear we fell short in your case. A service specialist will be reaching out to you directly to address your concerns.

I was hearing a drip when the AC stopped running. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they sent some techs out. It turned out that when the house was constructed, the ones who did the work didn't do what they were supposed to do in order to prevent things like that from happening. So, the techs took care of it. We were outside sitting in the garage while they worked. There were two of them. One of them went into the attic and was doing some stuff, while the other one went around the side where my AC unit is. They were very professional, not talking about this and that. They just came here to figure out the problem then once they figured it out, they told me what was going on, and they got on their way. Since the service, we haven't had a problem.
This experience was really good because I wasn't at home at the time. I was taking my mom to a doctor's appointment when they were enroute, and the tech held up so it didn't have to push me off to another date where I had to wait. I appreciate that. But I've had other issues with American Home Shield in Louisiana, not here in Georgia. My dad has American Home Shield in his home and my mom had it as well. Some companies they're contracted with are good and they communicate very well.
But one time there was one guy who was assigned to my mom's house that we had a problem with. My mom was disabled and he said he had to have somebody pick up the phone before he could head enroute. But we already decided the time for the appointment and I made sure that my mom was there. She knew he was coming but she couldn't make it to the phone because she was on a walker. He said if nobody picked up the phone, then he wouldn't go and I just couldn't understand why didn't he just show up. In contrast, I've had great experience in Georgia. I was very impressed with how they did things for me here, but not so impressed with how the guy did it in Louisiana. So, the quality of the service depends on the market.

Aces Appliance Repair's tech came but they didn't even fix anything. He just looked at it and said he was going to let American Home Shield know that this was not the first time that I had problem with this thing, and he was going to let them decide. Previously, a guy from the other company came and he had the seal for the door. So he changed it, but that thing didn't work. Then we bought one, so recently, a tech from another company put the one that we had, and that was all he did. But the refrigerator is still making frozen thingy on the freezer, kind of like the snow thing all over. American Home Shield never contacted me after that and that was more than a month ago. I know that if something happens again, they can fix it within a month without me having to pay, but I already went more than a month, so I just left the problem and I'm not going to even bother to call them again.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the inconvenience and unresolved issue with your freezer. The phone system with American Home Shield is not user-friendly, and I've been finding the website to be a little less user-friendly in the last year as well. For one thing, our second location on Bates Avenue, the dishwasher is not listed anymore, so I had to call in and make the appointment instead of doing it online. On a different note, we were on a schedule with a tech, Shane, from Choice Electric, and he completed the job in less than a day and a half. He helped us an awful lot and we love him. He was wonderful. We're very happy with Shane and Choice Electric.
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with the technician from Choice Electric Heating & Cooling. We are pleased to hear that the repair has been successful and appreciate your acknowledgment of our ability to connect you with such skilled professionals. American Home Shield is good to have. I recently dealt with them when the sprinklers were not coming on to empty the septic tank and the tank was near overflowing. I made a claim online then I was informed of the name and phone number of the assigned contractor. Then, the tech came out and gave us information so we wouldn't have to call someone out for the same problem again. Since then, everything has been functioning great. I like that American Home Shield is quick to respond, but I had to add additional services for my septic and my well. That should be part of what's included in a home warranty because a well and a septic are required.
Thank you so much for your detailed review and 5-star rating! We’re glad to hear your septic system issue was resolved and that the contractor provided exceptional service and helpful advice. It’s great to know everything is running smoothly now.
We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding coverage for septic and well systems. Your insights are valuable, and we understand how important these components are to your home’s functionality.
Again, we appreciate your feedback and recommendation. Thanks for being a valued member!

I was happy with ProTex Plumbing Heating and Air when they came out for my AC claim. They did a good job. He ordered the air conditioner. But, it just seemed like it was forever before it came in. When it came in, he put the air unit and set it up. But then when he tried to connect everything at the heat unit upstairs in the attic, it wouldn't connect. Because the furnace was so old and they weren't compatible. He tried to make it work but it wouldn't work. Then he had to order that other part. I still couldn't have my air until AHS sends the other pieces so that he could connect everything and get it all up and running. I was the whole month without air. But I didn't feel like it was the tech’s fault necessarily but it was just the way it turned out. I was also very pleased that I've got a new air conditioning unit now.
I had a problem with my water heater and they replaced that. And the guy that they sent was scary and rude. He didn't seem legit. But another time I had my heating looked at, the tech they sent was very friendly, clean, took care of things and nice. I liked the guy.
Then when I replaced my dishwasher, the amount they were gonna give me wouldn't have gotten me near than that. It was an old dishwasher, but it was a really good quality one. What I could have replaced it with would have been not a very good quality. I looked at the reviews. I ended up putting a lot of money with the money that AHS provided and I got a nicer dishwasher.
Thank you for seeing past any shortcomings to leave a review. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

The filter was leaking on the spa was leaking and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. They assigned Worry Free Pools and they were able to replace the broken sand filter. They did it in two days. It was perfect. In the nine years that I’ve been with AHS, the customer service has gotten better. It's fairly good now. There are a couple of items that I have had broken that they wouldn't cover. I wouldn't necessarily agree with them in the way they interpreted the contract versus the way I did. Also, I'm to the point now where I might shop for a different warranty company because my premiums are getting too expensive.

American Home Shield is a decent place to deal with. I had a claim for my AC and since it was old, it needed to be replaced. But American Home Shield would not replace it. They kept putting band-aids on stuff. The contractor, Cardinal Comfort, attempted to repair it, but it's still not working properly. They recommended that I put in another request to get it repaired again, but that takes money. The last time the techs were out, they had to replace a part for the heat because that wasn't working either. The heat and the air were both not working. So what they ended up having to do was replace a part for the air to work and they ended up having to barely clean it, then they replaced some kind of motor on it for it to work. But we're still suffering and the only reason why we're not complaining now as much is because the weather is changing where it's not as hot.
Other than that, American Home Shield's customer service reps were very helpful and excellent. They were returning the calls like they said they would. But I hate how much time it takes for some people to come out, because some people just don't want to do their job. And I can't hold that against American Home Shield because some might call one company, they might not even return your call. And that was an incident that I did run into. For my last claim, that was the reason why Cardinal Comfort was brought up was because the other company stopped picking up and returning calls. They just fell off. Also, American Home Shield did not want to replace the bigger priced items like my AC unit even if a request had been put in twice to have it replaced. Not only do I have problems with the air, I also have problems with the heat. And I'm afraid to turn my heat on because I don't know if it's even going to work.

The service with the AC was good. Express came for two different ACs. In one unit, they did what they could. I had to get a plumber out because it kept backing up. It kept leaking water. They tried to make me pay an additional fee and I told them it was all pertaining to the same issue, so they didn't charge me. They did the repair and it's working fine so far.
The only thing is I was disappointed because American Home Shield went up on my price, and I didn't know because my email was not working. It went up $26 and I thought that was a big jump. So, I called and I tried to explain to them that I live on a fixed income and that didn't work for me. It just was too much. I spoke with one of the representatives who must have gotten in touch with one of the supervisors and said that it was too late because it was two months later so I had to continue with the price. I asked her for someone in billing. I spoke with someone and explained the situation to her. I spent three months paying $26, but then she told me that they had a special offer, which brought me below what I was paying at first. I was really pleased with that but I had to go through hoops and loops to get there.
I do have some plumbing issues that I had going on. I have three bathrooms and it was upstairs in one of the bathrooms. I have been trying to get the issue solved since December of 2024. AHS sent three different plumbers out and companies. The first time, the first company wasn't good at all. I wouldn't want them to come back out. The other company came out, but it was just too long trying to get them to come out. I had to keep calling to schedule. I kept leaving messages and finally, they came out. They thought they fixed the problem but within a week or two, it started backing up again. I had to get my own plumber to come out, and the issue was solved. They couldn't do it. With American Home Shield, you can do whatever with plumbing. But to really get to the problem, you would have to pay that particular company out of your own pocket to go further because American Home Shield only let them do so much.
We greatly appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that your heating and air conditioning issue was resolved satisfactorily. It's reassuring to know that despite the bump in service charges, the special offer ultimately reduced your costs. We understand how important it is to manage unexpected expenses, especially on a fixed income. However, we're sorry you've faced some challenges with the plumbing issues. Thank you for bringing your experiences and suggestions to our attention, and for your continued trust in us. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

American Home Shield did wonderfully. There have been times where it's been really nice. But there are times that they send these people here, and they break the machine instead of fixing it. One of the guys from Agape that came up here was standing on my sofa to look at the aircon instead of going and getting his ladder. I had to scold him to get down. But they ended up fixing it. I've had other people with my plumbing for my water heater. They put in a new water heater that's less of a gallon. So now, we run out of hot water. I'm not happy and then American Home Shield is charging me around $300
American Home Shield has been pretty good about customer service. They tried their best. The workers were the ones coming to fix my place that some of them, I had to tell them to leave my home. They wanted me to sign something that wasn't even what they were doing. They didn't fix anything but they wanted me to sign. So there were people that they've sent up that was very questionable from what they were doing. The rate with American Home Shield started off good. Even at $200, I would get replacements off and on. So I thought that was good. But when they get up to almost $400 a month, I said, "Done." Plus a $100 if I have somebody come. It's almost $500 a month if I had something to fix every month. I didn't want it anymore. So I stopped it.
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback with us. Our goal is always to provide reliable service, and we're truly sorry to hear that this hasn't consistently been your experience.

My AC was not cooling and it needed an evaporator on the inside. Air Technical came out but didn’t do anything. They provided a quote to American Home Shield but won’t provide me one. I’m very dissatisfied because I bought a plan that's supposed to cover all my repairs and they are denying all of that. I asked for a second opinion and they still want to do the mom-and-pop shop. I told AHS to give me somebody recommended because I pay for reliable people. They could have sent good customer service out to my place to do repairs on these since they have a lot of small contractors. For some reason, they always talk about permits. I need to see a quote from the contractor because they're talking about $3,300 because they got a full permit. But the city of Fort Worth does not consider this in a permit. And AHS is talking about $1,000 to pull a permit and it's only $75 for to get one.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I understand the frustration this has caused and I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further to work toward a resolution.

Our air conditioner unit was not working. I called for the service for them to come out and check the unit. When they came out, there was a little bit of air blowing through the vents. They were supposed to go up into the attic and check the unit in the attic, as well as go outside and check the unit. However, I wasn't home but my husband was. He said that all they did was open the attic door and heard the unit turn on and never went up to the attic. That's number one.
Number two, because it was two of them, when they were supposed to go out to check the unit before he was done with the guy upstairs to look at the attic, the other guy was coming back from the unit. As it turned out, if they had looked at the unit, they would have seen that it wasn't working. They didn't do anything.
They never returned my call. They did not come out. I tried for several days. I even reached out to American Home Shield. No one came. American Home Shield said, "We're gonna call them." Every time I call them, all I got was the voicemail. I kept leaving messages and no one ever called back.
No one ever reached out until the last week. I already knew by then, that the unit needed to be replaced. I said, "Okay. Can someone come out and check this?" No one ever came out to look at it to see that the unit needed to be replaced and it was the hottest day of the summer. We got the unit replaced ourselves. So when they called me two weeks ago and said, "Oh, yeah. We're here." I said, "I don't need you now. Don't come out."
Cool Tech was horrible. But when I spoke to AHS, they were at least trying to help. They're also pretty good about getting people out, too. But, they're supposed to be reimbursing me the service fee since they did absolutely nothing. I haven't checked yet to see if it occurred or not.
Olivia, we would not be able to grow and improve without feedback like yours. Although we’re disheartened by your experience, we’re grateful for your feedback so we can work to prevent service delays and miscommunications from happening again. Sincerely, Marc

American Home Shield is a hit or miss. They are not always fair and most of the time, they do what's in their best interest, not to replace the item that needs to be replaced. More than once, they have used vendors that did not know what they were doing and did not fix the problem. I had a plumbing issue and AHS initially sent a dishwasher technician who said it was the plumbing. The plumber came and did the trouble assessment and said it was the machine. I requested somebody different to be sent but AHS sent the same company. Now, I was told that the problem they found is not covered under my policy. American Home Shield is a service that is necessary, but it's not a good company. It's not a loyal company to the customer.
The customer service is not a problem solver. They're more loyal to the company than to the clients or customers. They'll find any little bitty reason to deny a claim. And sometimes, they are accusatory. They will make it seem like that's something that you personally did, and that’s very offensive as well. I'm paying way too much for that poor quality of service. I wish I could find another company that I could switch to, because I'm not happy with AHS.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

The first time that American Home Shield sent out air conditioning people, our air conditioner wasn't working. They couldn't get out for a day or two, which was not a problem. My husband went around and messed with it and kind of got it going the morning that they came. So when they came, he said there was something wrong with it, but he got it going. They said if that was the case then there was nothing they could do. My husband asked for a service call but they said they couldn't do it because it was not on the ticket. One guy didn't even get out of the truck, and the other guy was rather short. We just left it at that. But then the next week, the AC started doing it again. So, my husband had to reset it about every day. So, there was something wrong with it.
In the meantime, I gave a bad review to the first company that came, and they sent me a really ugly text. They sent me this long text about how my husband threw them off the property. All he wanted was a service call. I told them, "That is a lie. Please call my husband," in this text. They never called and we never heard anything.
We kept having problems with the AC. So, I put in a request for a second review. We're supposed to get a call within 48 hours. I never heard anything. I gave it about a week. Still never heard anything. So, I called American Home Shield and they said they they sent them an email asking them what was going on. About another week or two, I called back and they had turned in an authorization to refuse service because my husband had thrown them off the property and would not even let them look at it. So, I told the lady, "Why would we request service and then throw them off the property? They're mad because I gave them a bad review. They were not nice. And I didn't give them a good review and it made them mad. So they don't wanna come back out."
The rep said since they've already got it authorized that they don't have to come, I'd have to turn in another request and pay another $100. I said, "No, that is not right, that is not right." She put me on hold and she called them, and they again said that we had refused to let them look at the air conditioner. She came back to me and I just kept arguing with her and then I said I wanted to file a complaint against this company because that was not right. I don't know how long I was on the phone. She finally put me through to somebody else and talked to them for a while. They also said it was over 30 days then so I'd have to put in another request.
I wanted to at least file a complaint, and they put me through somebody else. It was really odd because she had a rooster. It was really loud. I argued with her for a little bit and finally, she said, "Well, how about if I give you the $100 credit back from the first time and we turn in another request?" I told her that would work fine. I'd be happy with that as long as it's a different company. So she did her thing and she said they'd send this other company out. They came and they were very nice. We haven't had to reset the AC and it's been working fine. I had to do a lot of arguing, but at the end of it, I was satisfied.

We’ve been very disappointed with American Home Shield. In early July, we reported our GE refrigerator leaking from the filter cartridge, and soon after it stopped cooling below 56°. AHS dispatched Astro Appliance, whose technician claimed the filter head issue was due to “misuse/abuse/mistreatment.” Because of that one statement, AHS refused to cover the part and would not authorize the repair.
I repeatedly asked AHS for help—requesting a supervisor, asking for a second opinion, and trying to get clarity. Each time I was told “that’s what the tech reported” and there was nothing more they could do, unless we pay another service fee for a different co. to come out. So that means our regular monthly fee to AHS plus two. Meanwhile, weeks turned into over a month and a half without a working refrigerator for our family.
The same tech came back, replaced a motor, but the fridge still has not cooled below 50. AHS continued to point to Astro, Astro pointed back to AHS, and we were left stuck in the middle. In the end, we paid Astro $125 for a service call that resolved nothing, were denied coverage for a part that should not have been labeled as “misuse/abuse,” and ultimately had to buy a brand-new fridge out of pocket.
AHS failed to provide the support and service we pay for and offered no real solutions when their vendor mishandled the job. This experience has shown me that AHS does not stand behind its promises or customers. Bottom line: American Home Shield is quick to take your money, slow to provide real service, and even quicker to deny claims. Be warned before signing up.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for your experience, as we understand that your refrigerator is an essential appliance in your home.
We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding your claim. Please feel free to email us directly at socialmedia@ahs.com for additional assistance.

American Home Shield assigned my work order to AirMax Heating and Cooling, and they were terrible because they never called me. I had to call them. The first time they called me, I had the home warranty company on the line, and they called AirMax and made them call me. I got my first appointment, and the kid came out and replaced something. He was awesome. He said the bearings were bad in the motor. He didn't like how it sounded, so he was going to replace the motor and put a new order in. When I talked to Trisha, a rep from AirMax, before the thing was ordered, she said, "I don't know the status. I'm not sure of the status." I said, "You don't have a part number you can check to see if it's in stock?" She said, "I don't know what to tell you. When we get the part, we'll call you." This was what she kept repeating over and over. She was not helping me at all.
That Tuesday, the kid had finished his work, but the notes haven't been keyed yet when I called about an update. Once they were keyed, I was told it was read incorrectly. AirMax Heating and Cooling closed my call and said everything was great. I called American Home Shield back, and they said to call and let them know if my issue isn't fixed by the 27th, where I wouldn't have to pay another $100 fee.
I called AirMax, left a voicemail, and got no response. They told American Home Shield they called me numerous times to try to schedule an appointment, and I told the AHS rep, Nicholas, "They are a liar. I got my call log right here. I have no missed calls, no voicemails, no nothing." AirMax finally called two days after American Home Shield followed up, and someone named Jenna said they tried to call me. She said, "Oh, I'm sorry. Somehow your number got transposed on the last couple of digits." Two weeks passed, no updates, then they tell me that. I said, "How did that happen when I was already in there in your database with a completed job?" Short story, they finally got me on the books, then a tech, William, came out last week, Thursday, and put the new motor in. The work order has been completed, but it took a month.
I love American Home Shield, but I wish they would broaden their contractor pool for options for customers. So, if I didn't like a person or had a bad experience with someone, I'd want another option, 'cause AirMax Heating and Cooling was not the only contractor I had problem with. I had a problem with my refrigerator with the A&E Factory/Sears repairmen that I will never ever want in my home again, but they were the only option for repair. That happened the same way with AirMax with the phone calls, not being able to call anyone and not getting any emails or any feedback.
American Home Shield's price is okay for the service, but when I started paying them 13 years ago, it was only $87, and now, it's $125. Inflation affects all kinds of things, so I'm not dissatisfied with the fee, but a nice, "Hey, your price is gonna go up $20" might be okay. If they do send them, clearly, I don't see them. Another thing is, when setting up a work order online, some of my problems are not on the list of options. They have an "other comments" section, but it doesn't allow a lot of characters to be typed in it. If, for example, my AC went out, and all the list has on there is "heat." Maybe an HVAC person would understand that's AC in the summer and heat in the winter. But for me, it's summertime, and my AC isn't working. My heater is a non-thing in my mind. I could explain it in the "other comments" box, but there isn't enough room for my explanation. Other than that, it's easy scheduling the appointments.
However, when closing a chapter and getting invoices or receipts, that has changed. I don't have any access to getting the work that was done to my home anymore. They used to email me things, but they don't do that anymore and I have to figure that out. I no longer have access to the portal for getting my receipts. Now, I have to call American Home Shield's helpline to see why I don't have the access to get my closed work order to put in my home improvements file that I keep for my home work. I don't have any records showing that anyone did any work on my home for my AC problem, and I don't like that. I need to try to fix that with the home warranty company.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience. I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with your AC repair due to the miscommunications and delays. I can understand how frustrating and inconvenient this must have been. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your persistence and American Home Shield's support in resolving the issue. Please let us know how we can be of assistance in the future.

I called American Home Shield again to let them know what was going on. The rep went over and said, “We'll get somebody out there to look at it again.” It took them over a week. Finally, they got someone, but it wasn't the same company because they couldn't get any time. They didn't have anything where they could put me back in with that company. My water kept running from the toilet tank, and we couldn't figure out a way to stop it. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was extremely easy. They sent Drip Plumbing out. They called, they set the appointment up, they came when they said they were gonna come, and they were in and out in 15 minutes. It was a good claim. I had American Home Shield back in Oklahoma for about five years, and I've had it for three years out here. I've been completely satisfied with them. When I first got them, I had to be on the phone with someone in order to submit the claim. Now, I can submit the claim online. So, it's very fast and convenient.

I had a plumbing leak, and it was sagging in my ceiling. I turned off the water. The drywall was gonna fall on my dining room table if I didn't cut it open. So, I cut it open. The plumbers who came out said if they had cut it open, they would have put it in as secondary damage. Even though I claimed it as secondary damage because they didn't cut it open, they said I was not covered by it. At the time that I cut it open, I didn't know how quickly they were gonna respond. But they ended up responding the same day and they were great. They did a great job. But I'm frustrated with American Home Shield that they didn't cover the drywall damage. I also had an air conditioning problem that was an absolute disaster with American Home Shield.
Ryan, thank you very much for sharing your experience with AHS and Patriot Plumbing. We apologize for any miscommunication concerning the secondary damages to your drywall. We do our best to provide the most comprehensive coverage possible with our plan agreements, but there are occasions where certain things don't fall within that coverage. We understand how frustrating that can be and are actively working towards improvements to provide the best coverage at the best value for your home.
It's good to know that aside from the drywall miscommunication, you've been satisfied with our services overall. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, if it weren't for reviews like yours we would not be able to grow and improve to meet and exceed the expectations of our members.Sincerely,

My daughter's air conditioner stopped cooling and we had unusually hot weather. It wasn't blowing cold air. My home warranty had just started, so I placed a claim online and the contractor came out. They were very professional. But the claim was denied and American Home Shield was saying it was a pre-existing condition. I got a second opinion and found it was the same issue, and AHS denied the claim again. So, I've canceled the service and I’m considering a lawsuit because it's a $5,000 part. I bought my house in 2020 and it was 14 years old, so I've had coverage consistently. But I went from my previous company to American Home Shield because of online reviews and the guy was super friendly when I called to do the original quote. I thought this would be different than my experience in the past. But it was far worse. People should save their money.
Kristin, I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and address your coverage concerns.

The kitchen sink was not draining properly and I submitted a claim on July 1. Someone came out to rod it while I wasn’t home, but the sink still didn’t drain correctly. I called again two weeks ago and was told it was within 30 days, so someone would be sent back out. I should wait for a call but I haven’t received any. Submitting this claim has been very difficult. It took four to five weeks for anyone to come out. It was first assigned to a different contractor that never showed up. After repeated calls, a second contractor came, inspected the issue, and sent in the information, but authorization took another three weeks. I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.
Dear Vida,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m truly sorry to hear about the delays and frustrations you encountered throughout the claim process. From the initial lack of action to the missed contractor appointment and the unresolved issue with your kitchen sink, I understand how disappointing and inconvenient this must have been.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and I want to assure you that we take these matters seriously. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and work toward a resolution that meets your expectations.

That same contractor had to come out once before for our washing machine. Initially, someone else was supposed to come out, and that guy blew me off twice. He didn't show up. When I called American Home Shield, I said I wanted someone different, they sent Sanders. The tech was very professional, very understanding of the age of the appliances. The second time for the refrigerator, he was booked up, and I had to wait for a week until he made it out there. But he was upfront, and asked, "I can't get there until next Wednesday. Will that be okay?" I said that was fine because the fridge worked, and it was just the ice machine and water line that didn't. I was very happy with Sanders. We took a payout on the refrigerator. It was 17 years old, and the tech said we had to replace the whole door.

Having AHS gives me peace of mind. But what I don't like is that I gotta pay once they come out also. Not only am I paying 100 a month, but then they charge a fee when they come out, which is really ridiculous. At the end of the day, I'm not really making out with this. We pay a lot of money for this. But I’m satisfied with AHS.

American Home Shield sent out US Comfort here and they fixed my air conditioner. It had stopped cooling and wasn't running correctly. I put this claim online and their response time was good. It turned out that something had leaked and once they repaired everything, I haven't had any issues. I first got the warranty when I purchased my home and I was required through escrow to get a one-year warranty on the home. Then, I've been harassed a little bit by some of their employees lately trying to get me to renew my coverage.

My contract is up in June and I will not be renewing my contract with American Home Shield. I had my refrigerator broken and the ice maker will never work. American Home Shield approved the people to come out six times, and it took almost a year. I live in Mandeville, Louisiana and they have people who work here, but the company they were sending out is based out of Florida. Every time one of their people would come, it would be a different person, so they also have to get up to speed on the findings. Each time they leave, something else is wrong. I personally think they broke something each time they came out. On the seventh time, the company said, "It needs to be replaced." I did not understand that each time they came out was reducing what my replacement amount would be.
American Home Shield does false advertising. They explained their policy, which is each time a person comes out, it deducts from what the warranty is. To American Home Shield, they did nothing wrong, but to me, I was penalized because they allowed the same company to come out six times. I did a Better Business Bureau complaint with them. I have a top of the line refrigerator freezer and all I got was $1,094. I accepted that amount because something is better than nothing, but I couldn't even buy a regular refrigerator for that amount these days. We got a new refrigerator that was on sale and ended up paying $2,600. I also disagree with American Home Shield closing the case because I was very dissatisfied. I asked them, "Why would you keep approving them to come out when obviously they could not fix it?"
We understand your concerns regarding future repairs and the limitations of the contract. I’d be happy to speak with you further to address any questions or issues you may have.
Thank you,

My AC wasn't cooling the house. I was running at 85 degrees Fahrenheit and the first company American Home Shield assigned to me was horrible. The guy didn't show up or even answer any questions. I had to call him multiple times and nothing was happening, so I had to cancel the service and get a new one. It took me a week to figure things out and every single time I called, everybody acted like dumbass. They didn't know what they were doing. When I kept asking the reps to give me to somebody, they said, "No. We couldn't do it." I was on the phone for hours and hours for five days to get somebody to come fix the unit.
The next company American Home Shield assigned, DenPro HVAC System, was good. They were able to do the service. They looked at my AC unit and they couldn't fix it, so they had to replace the whole thing. On the other hand, Home Shield was not so good and I'd tell people not to sign up 'cause I still had to pay over $3,000 even with the warranty.

The original problem was a blocked pipe and the contractor, High Priority Plumbing, came out and fixed that. But after the plumbing work, I couldn’t use my washing machine. It said the water wasn’t on, even though my clothes were wet and the rest of the water in the house was working. I called to find out if there was something specific they could do. I thought I would have to pay another fee, and I was dreading that, so I didn’t go back to American Home Shield about it. I’ve also been in and out of town for the past three weeks, so I didn’t have time to deal with it. I was taken aback that only part of the repair was covered. I had to pay a lot out of pocket for the complete repair because the insurance only pays so much. The techs said one part wouldn’t be covered and would be a separate issue. I could have used that money for something else.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm glad to hear that the technicians assigned were polite and knowledgeable in fixing your blocked pipe. I had a capacitor issue and the contractor took care of it quickly. American Home Shield has been handling the claims good. Many years ago, it was rough, but I stuck with them. They couldn't get the right service people out and we had some issues with service. They were recommending one thing, and AHS was not willing to move forward. But I have not had any problems with them, and they have done very well on both of my houses. I like the convenience of being able to call and place a service call, plus the response back is quick. AHS has great value and it saved me money in the long run. If people have a house, it is worth the money that they put into it.

I'm not totally thrilled but happy with American Home Shield. I renewed for the next year. I just need to read my fine print a bit better. I almost didn't renew. But I asked for a bit more of a discount. AHS's rep gave it to me, so I went ahead and renewed it. We had a garage door issue last year when we first got AHS. I didn't know they work on a garage door, so we paid somebody to come out. That was my fault. When I started reading the things that they do, it could have saved me money had I known they would’ve worked on my garage door. I figured it would come in handy next year. It's a good deal for the price.
The air conditioner wasn't cooling and I went online and paid the $125 for Advanced Air and Heating to come out, which surprisingly happened on the same day, unlike a previous experience when it took a few days. The communication with Advanced Air was smooth and they even notified me via text when the technician would arrive. When we called AHS a few months ago to have the AC worked on, it would be a couple days before the contractor could get there. We ended up fixing it ourselves. It was just a backed up line. My husband got into it and did it.
The tech gave me a couple of options to fix the issue. He said he could do nothing. It had frozen over that night. I had to let the coils thaw. He said everything looked good, but he didn't know what the problem was. He said there might be a leak. He would spray some stuff in it to possibly fix the leak if there was a leak. He didn't know. But he said if he did that, it would be an extra 150. I went ahead and did it. I was under the impression that American Home Shield took care of repairs. I thought we paid the 125 for the visit and they took care of stuff. When I questioned, the tech didn't know what to tell me. He said it was just what they charge. I'm fine with it. He was very nice. He said whatever he will do may not fix it.

The Beaufort Bath tech acted like there was nothing wrong with what I requested. But my drain was backing up and my dishwasher smelled horrible. He stuck his hand into the drain disposal, cut it, and then was bleeding all over my kitchen. I offered him a towel to stop the bleeding because it was pretty bad and he said, “No. I'm okay.” So I didn't push it. But it was gross. It was all over my kitchen countertops and then my sink and on my floor. He told me, “There is a piece of glass in there. Who broke a glass?” I said, “I don't know. I just bought the place. And what does it matter who broke a glass? It's a freaking kitchen. People break glasses in the kitchen.” He said he dislodged it.
I told him that it's been slow since we bought the house and the smell under the kitchen cabinet and into the dishwasher was concerning. He said, “No. I think it was just the glass.” I asked him, “Well, is there something else you can do? Can you just clean it out, make sure that nothing is clogged? That's why I had you come.” But he said it was running fine now, and then he left. It's fine now, but it still smells at times under my kitchen cabinet. I don't know if it's the garbage disposal, which I don't even use often. So, it's weird. It's better, but I put some vinegar in my dishwasher and let it sit and down my drains and bake, which was what he did. He googled what to do and I told him, “I already know that. I can do that.”
After that, I went to get my HVAC unit serviced for regular maintenance, and I was trying to have a conversation on chat, asking a question to the American Home Shield people. They were really rude and wouldn't answer my question and then just left the chat and kept telling me to do a service call. All I wanted to know was could I choose who I want to put the air in, but American Home Shield wouldn't answer me. They just said to put a service call in, and I said, “But I don't need a service call. There's nothing wrong. I just had it maintenanced because I'm trying to take care of it. So, you don't cover maintenance. So, why would I put a service call in when I just paid $190 to get it maintenanced?” I just wanted a simple answer to my question. So, it was a little frustrating. I don't have anything wrong with my air conditioning right now, but it's getting older.
When the gentleman came out, he said, “You may need it replaced soon.” He checked on my air to make sure everything was up and he cleaned it like he was supposed to do. Then he tried to say that American Home Shield was really bad, and that they're gonna send somebody out like you sent out to do my drain plumbing issue, and that they're not gonna pay for the whole thing to be fixed, and they're gonna have some shoddy company do it. It's misleading. I was frustrated because what if it's a large amount of money and what if something happens between now and May? People should be cautious with American Home Shield. They don't always send the best people.
Sincerely,
Marc

On my last encounter with American Home Shield, they did a good job. I did the claim online and it went well. They wanted to deny it at first, but then I told them they'd already been out to work on it before. They said, “Okay. We'll send the same guy to come out and work on it.” He came out and fixed it. However, I had an issue with American Home Shield as far as I've got some unit heaters in my garage that hang from the ceiling. When I originally went with Home Shield, I asked them if everything was covered. They said, “Absolutely. Everything in your garage. Everything is covered.” When the unit heater died, they said that because it wasn't hanging on the wall, they wouldn't touch it.
I called and talked to their sales people again, and I talked to four different sales people. I specifically asked them if that would be covered, and all four of them told me it is absolutely covered. I called Home Shield back and said, “I called your sales people. I asked them specifically about it, and they said it was covered,” and they came back and said, “No, it's not covered.” They refused to work on something that their sales people claim was covered. They lied to me. I was very unhappy about that, and I ended up paying for it out-of-pocket myself.

The experience I've had with American Home Shield has been okay. Every year I have an event that pays my monthly and I usually break even with them. The best part of their business is their online service. It's usually not the people they send out that I have a problem with. It’s actually American Home Shield. I have a built-in ice maker at my bar. It's not in our freezer. It's just a stand-alone ice maker under the cabinet. It broke a few years ago. American Home Shield sent out a company and they fixed it. But about two years went by, it broke again. I called them and they said, “We don't work on this.” But I said, “Well, you do ‘cause you already have.” Then they told me it was not covered under my policy. But it was covered before. So I went through this whole thing with them and ended up I had to fix it on my own. That was very frustrating for me.
My Thermador dishwasher went out and American Home Shield tried to give me $600 for it. It's a $2,000 dishwasher. I told them, “Guys, it's not even close to the replacement.” I argued with them and I finally only got $1,100. But I was out of pocket for that one as well because their replacement value that they gave wasn't even close. They were trying to sell me a cheap Maytag instead of the higher end that I had. So that was frustrating. When the door latch on my Thermador microwave broke, American Home Shield couldn't find the part, so they tried to give me another microwave. But again, not Thermador. They were trying to give me a cheap microwave built-in, but all of my appliances are Thermador.

The first gentleman diagnosed the microwave and said the magnetron was bad. He ordered the part and left. A couple of days later, another gentleman came back and put it in, but it still didn't working properly. He said it needed an electrician because it wasn't getting power to it, so he ordered the electrician. As the electrician got there, I realized it was a GCFI. That was what ran the unit. I didn't realize that I pushed the GCFI switch in the other room, but there was a GCFI switch on the counter that needed to be pushed. So, I turned the GCFI on and it had power to it, but it did not run properly. He left.
I'm waiting on a unit to be changed out but I haven't heard anything from American Home Shield. They will send Sears out of North Georgia. AHS had a microwave that they said was similar. I looked it up. I said, "That's a Whirlpool." I looked at it at Lowe's and saw it's alike, but the price was different. The unit was on sale. But to replace it and have someone come out and do it was $38 more expensive. I went back to AHS and told them that I'm good with getting it taken care of by Lowe's. But I requested an additional $38 on the money they will give me. The young lady said, "That unit is now back in stock. I'll set it up for you and they'll come out." I've been waiting ever since. It's almost 10 days.
American Home Shield has done a good job for me. It's an expensive service, but it's worth it especially if you get into a house that has utilities that you're not sure of the history. You get what you pay for. I've had them for eight years that they have gotten better with their customer service. They use groups around the world, but they've all been adequate. After my conversation with them, they go through the process of what transpired and repeat it. I have confidence in them. They have been doing a good job.

I've been telling others for years to get American Home Shield. It's good and it works. Contractors show up right away when you make an appointment. They fix it right away or order the parts, and within a few days, it's done. It's very good peace of mind having AHS because we don't have to worry about anything. If something broke, we just call and that's it. We have already been fixed on the refrigerator, washer, water heater, and twice on dryer. It's amazing. We even got a plumbing coverage for our house. It's well worth it. However, I don't know why American Shield doesn't have coverage for televisions and other items besides appliances. My big screen TV broke and it's not covered. Big screen tvs are expensive but fixable. AHS can send techs to fix them and I don't have to dismount mine, throw it to the trash, and get a new one.
Recently, the dryer wasn't coming on. We would press the start button, but it didn't do anything. We had a contractor dispatched through AHS. The appointment was for 9 o'clock. We were already at home early in the morning. The tech showed up at 8:30, and by 9 o'clock, he was out of the house. He told me that the dryer vent was broken. He gave it to me. It was all messed up. He also told me the pulley was worn out and that is probably what caused the vent to break, besides the years. He replaced the pulley and vent. He was out of it in no time.

The whole claim of American Home Shield is that if they can't fix it, they will replace it. But then I had to pay for it. I already pay $70 a month, and then I pay $125 for any work order visit. So, that's consistent. But they're hiding under these modifications and sections, like, "Oh, that's a modification. Freon is a modification," even though you have to get a new unit because it couldn't be fixed, it needed to be replaced. Freon is a modification, even though the machines don't come with Freon. So, how is that fixing and replacing for me?

My dryer and the refrigerator ice maker and lights weren't working. I first submitted the claim online but then I had to call because I wanted to add the refrigerator on too so they could look at both of them at the same time. The tech who came was very knowledgeable and nice. I loved him.
He replaced the fuse in my dryer and cleaned it. He thought it got too hot and flipped the fuse. And then the refrigerator, it was broken. He looked at it and the wires that go from the refrigerator to the door were broken and he couldn't replace them. He recommended to either replace the door because the wires were too short or get a new refrigerator. AHS replaced our refrigerator. It was wonderful. Now we have an ice maker.
I'm glad we have AHS. In the past, our washing machine broke, and it couldn't be repaired and we got a new washing machine. We told our in-laws that they should get one, because they had to replace their refrigerator. The only thing is, every year, the payment goes up by $5. We started out at $75 a month and we're up to $107 a month now. But we live rural, so having AHS is still a really good deal for us.

American Home Shield is a good insurance company. They provide good services and their website is easy to access. They constantly offer deals like, "Hey, you want to install this or do you want your pipes cleaned that are connected to your laundry equipment?" I don't necessarily take them up on those deals, but I like that they're proactive in helping homeowners with the maintenance of their home. When our heating system died out during the summer, they jumped on it. They said, "We'll get you this contractor right away." I don't have beef with the insurance company, but I have beef with the contractor company.
The contractor came out and said, "We just need to order this part," but it took them a week to get it. We said, "Can you give us updates? What's going on?" There was lack of communication or sympathy from the business to the customer. They did not acknowledge that we were suffering in the heat. There was nothing like that to assuage our problems and there were no updates like, "We've ordered the parts. We can see that it's in transit." The communication side was really frustrating.
Once the contractor brought whatever part it was, I asked him to show me the box and he wouldn't let me see it at all. I wanted to do my own investigation to figure out why it would take so long to get this simple part. I was curious. Was it a unique part or was it an expensive one? He would not share the box with me, and I found that odd. Other than that, the installer himself was a nice guy and I don't have issues with him. I just have beef with the company overall in the handling of this thing, where it took a week and there were updates or any acknowledgement of what we were going through.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with AHS. We're delighted to hear that you received excellent service and that the necessary repairs were completed promptly. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and helps us continue to deliver high-quality service.

LA Contractors was supposed to assess my AC, but they didn't work on it. They are awful and dishonest, and they are the reason that I am still in this process with American Home Shield. They lied about my property being a commercial property so that my claim would be denied through the home warranty company. They said that I did not actually live at the property and that it was not my primary residence. I have been arguing with American Home Shield about the property being my primary residence and being a residential property, not a commercial property, ever since. Also, the AC has not been repaired as a result of that.
I've been with American Home Shield for two years and this is the first time that they've worked on this AC. I've had other claims for other things and it is very clear that American Home Shield, in my perspective, trains or coaches their contractors to utilize specific types of language or make certain types of claims in their assessments so that the claims are denied or so that the customers have to pay out of pocket for items that should have been covered or may or may not even need to be repaired.
The contractors lie about what needs to be repaired, about doing assessments and about modifications. They know how to utilize specific language to try to get claims denied. This is not LA Contractors. This is American Home Shield. I am getting ready to file a complaint against American Home Shield and several of their contractors related to my AC with the Better Business Bureau and with the Ohio State Attorney General.

My air conditioner would not turn on. It would not function. I submitted two claims with AHS. The first one was in June. I went through the system and paid the $100 online. Majestic came out and diagnosed the problem. And then I worked with them to complete that claim. They left and things were fine. But after almost a month, my air conditioning didn't turn on.
I called AHS back. They said they’ll send somebody right out to look at it today and that was perfect. I had already spent two months of the summer without AC. The guy who came charged me $100. So, I paid the 170 to him. I never went through the system. So, it was basically a second claim because he ended up replacing the thermostat. Everything is working fine since he came back and fixed the thermostat.
On my first claim, I was waiting for my air conditioning unit to be replaced. There was some confusion that caused a delay. But partly, that was on me, too. It was a couple of weeks in the middle of the hottest part of the summer. In my warranty system, it didn't show me that I had a payment due. I was using the website to check on my claim. It was telling me I was good to go and that looked like at some point, there was gonna be a payment link in there.
I kept refreshing it every couple of days to see when I was gonna be needing to pay for the product. Then, I called Majestic and they told me it's a third-party site I have to pay on. So, that was a big delay, which was a bit frustrating. It ended up taking two full months to get the air conditioning installed from when I submitted the first claim.
Overall, I like AHS. I don't really know a lot about what needs to get done in my home and I'm a newer homeowner. I'm the only person in charge. It's nice to have a place where I can go and, at least, get a referral for some of the stuff I need, because there are a lot of greasy sales people and stuff like that.
I'm a big proponent of insurance and I would tell anybody to have it. It's hard to understand the benefit of it if you're not in the industry, if you're just a standard citizen. But I'm willing to acknowledge that I don't understand what I don't understand, so I need to use AHS. I would recommend them to a friend or a sibling.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're happy to hear that overall, you're pleased with how your issue was resolved. We're particularly excited to know Majestic Custom Heating and Air Conditioning provided prompt service and a creative solution in replacing the thermostat. Your valuable feedback about payment processing difficulties helps us make our service easier and more seamless. I had trouble with my air conditioning unit. I called American Home Shield on a Monday and submitted a claim. I told them that my air was out. I didn't have any air and it was almost 100 degrees. However, I didn't get anybody out till Wednesday and I had a problem with that. The contractor told me a gap between 8:00 and 12:00, so I had to pay somebody to come sit here 'cause I told them I had to work that day. I was only off Monday and Tuesday. The contractor didn't come till after 1:30 and whatever it was they fixed, they didn't even wait to see if the unit cooled off, for which it didn't cool off till late at night.
I'm disappointed with American Home Shield. It was easy to file a claim, but when I called and asked them if they had anyone else since the contractor wouldn't be available till Wednesday, they told me no. I didn't have any AC and knowing how hot it was, they should have accommodated me and gotten somebody else to come out within 24 hours. I would tell people to try to find somebody cheaper or somebody that can service them better. My rate went up $10 more than what it was and that's another problem I have with American Home Shield. I wasn't notified about that.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concerns regarding the delay in servicing your AC unit and the increase in your warranty plan. The price adjustment is driven by several factors, including new product features, rising incidence rates, and increased costs for parts.
Please know that we remain committed to delivering the best value while ensuring reliable service. A service specialist will follow up with you to discuss your concerns in more detail.

American Home Shield will never be someone that I would take my business to. I'm frustrated over the entire experience. I'm their customer. If they will send someone out, I trust and believe that they send someone out who is honest will not try to bully me. That is not what that company did. The contractor was one of my main reasons why I got rid of AHS.
My air conditioner went out. First, they couldn't come out until four days. That's how they did me both times. It was 94 degrees. No company had ever insisted that I give them money or that they would leave. He told me there was a leak in my line, which all my coolant was gone. I still don't believe that. He stated it would be $1,400. He showed me some paperwork as if AHS had submitted it and said all they would be pay was $10 off because they didn't cover the coolant. I told him I don't have $1,400 to give him asked if they could just fix the line or whatever AHS covered. He said no. He couldn't do anything without doing everything, which is fine and well. He told me, "Call us back when you got the 1,400."
When I called AHS, the rep said, "You were not supposed to take any extra services because we haven't got the paperwork." I raised my voice with her and she changed her tone. I said, "You sent these crooks to my house. No one has required that I give them money on the spot. I've never went through this. But they showed me paperwork and said this is coming from American Home Shield. So how dare you talk to me in this manner and say something about me being wrong?" I don't know anything about this company. I've never used this company. I didn't call them.
As he was wrapping up, I took my credit card out and I let him do it because I couldn't live in that. I feel like I was strong-armed. He said, "Not by me." I said, "If it's not by you, who is it? You are the one who sat here and told me that if I didn't give you $1,400, a 94-degree house with a sickly child, you were not gonna do anything and I can call you back. So what do you call it?" He said, "What do you think? We're gonna work for free?" "You're not working for free, sir. You're coming out from a company that I pay every month. You are contracted with them. You are not contracted with me. So where is the free money? Because my deductible and everything has been paid. Not one time have they ever had an issue with my payment."
I did not respect the way he talked. He said, "I don't know about all that. You'll have to take it up with the company." AHS did call me and the rep apologized and said, "He didn't use 10 pounds. He shouldn't have charged you for it. He only should have charged you for what he did." They refunded me the additional. It was 420. It was right short of $1,000 that they charged me and that was it. They gave me that back because of what I went through.
I had to call AHS right back out. I told the lady that day that my air conditioning is still not working. Maybe the Freon had to work. But the house was getting hot again. The contractor came back out and the guy said, "Your line was severely stopped up." I cleared it all out. It is cooling now. My whole thing is you take $1,400 from me and you didn't even check the system to see what the issue was.
I have Red Cap and I'm a member. They come out twice a year and service the units to make sure everything is up to date. They had told me that my Freon was fine and it was perfect. Every time, I've never had anyone come out to tell me that I had issues with my Freon. They had just come out a month before. Between then and now, I was supposed to believe that something went so wrong that all the Freon leaked out. I know things can happen, but I didn't believe it. They only thing they told me was a capacitor went out. But I I got insurance. I'm not gonna pay Red Cap all this money. They always tell you that it's the capacitor.
Thank you for being a valued member and for bringing your concerns to our attention. We understand how important your AC system is to your comfort at home, and we sincerely apologize for the delay and the inconvenience you've experienced during the repair process. One company came out for the water heater and it was a gentleman who came up. He said there was nothing wrong with the water heater. So, I said, "Excuse me? This water usually comes out boiling. Over the last few weeks, it's been steadily becoming less hot." He went back up and checked them again. He said they're old and it can happen with old units, and left. He said, "You might have to find out if they're gonna replace one or both of the old units, because they're in line." They're in line, so they worked in tandem. AHS might only pay for one of them.
They went back, and they changed it to a surge, which the tech never mentioned. He said they were only because they're old but suddenly he came back and said something different. I called and told American Home Shield. The guy was lying. It had nothing to do with that and he knew it. He first didn't know there was anything wrong with them. Then he decided they were just old units and they're starting to fail. He was very clear on that. He called his boss, and I spoke to him over the speakerphone too. We talked about it on the way down to his truck. AHS will send over a new company to come out to look at them.

We put in a claim for our refrigerator and had Aurora Appliance come out multiple times, each time thinking they fixed it. Sometimes it would work for a day and then it would break again. It was just a back and forth for two months till finally American Home Shield said that they would replace it. But they offered a replacement appliance that wouldn't have fit quite in our space. So we took the Lowe's gift card and applied it towards a new refrigerator.
I initially set up the claim online and I did it a couple of times. American Home Shield would promise that the technician would contact me within 24 hours, but they didn't. So I'd have to call, and the calls never got anywhere. They just said, "You'll have to wait." Once the replacement was done, it was good. The technician was good. But American Home Shield would take forever to get back with us. They could never schedule anything very quickly. The whole process was a disaster. I don't think we'll be working with American Home Shield much longer.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your refrigerator repair and replacement process. The contractor said my motor is insured, and the spring is not covered, which is fine. But the motor got broken and they said it's because of the wheels. So, it is not covered. I clearly told them it's not about the wheels. It's because the motor's spring sprocket was broken. All I have to do is pay the deductible for the motor problem. But they said it was not due to the spring sprocket, and I had to pay more money. I can do it by calling any handyman, and they could fix that motor, which is what I exactly I did, because they said they are going to charge me $1,900 to fix the wheels. They said there is no problem with the wheels. They just sprayed some kind of grease near the wheels. And the problem was with the motor so they changed it. I need to have that American Home Shield then? They do the same thing for everything.
I had a problem with my dishwasher. The service technician came in. First time, he changed the motherboard. The same problem happened. Next time, he fixed the panel. The same thing happened. Third time, he fixed the motherboard. The same issue happened. They do the the same thing again and again. I had that problem since November but it is still not fixed.

We had a problem with the refrigerator. American Home Shield sent a technician out and he replaced some relays. I got easy communication with him because it just happened that I speak Russian and he is Russian-speaking, so I didn't have any problem with him. He was very professional and knowledgeable. It was surprising because I know nothing and I still know more than most of the technicians that they sent here. This was surprising to me that they really sent someone who came fast and finished the job. He was very efficient. Now the refrigerator is working just the way it is designed to work.
We had a case when we had to wait for 4.5 months for American Home Shield to send someone finally to fix the water in the kitchen. We had to carry water from the bathroom to the kitchen. I'm 80 years old, disabled man with a bad heart, and my wife is older than me. She also has bad heart. I had to every day carry water from the bathroom to the kitchen so we can wash the dishes and things like this for four times a day. When somebody came, it took him about 15 minutes to replace the bath faucet and install a new one, and yet the technicians that American Home Shield sent before that were jokesters. They were absolutely ridiculous. We had one that made an appointment with us seven times and canceled seven times.
We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. Where we used to live in Oregon, in both of our homes that we lived in, we had that because we were real estate brokers for a living that we used to own a real estate company, so we used to sell American Home Shield to our clients. At that time, American Home Shield was absolutely different. Now they got their people answering the phone from overseas. They would say, “I'm going to try to make things better,” but they're much worse for the last few years, but we're still sticking with them because I'm not used to make changes. I would never recommend to American Home Shield. We're still with them, but we are not happy with the service.

The Air Max guy who came was very, very nice. He was very kind and prompt. He said the unit needed maintenance, and they'd have to come back with a three-story ladder. That was the last I heard of them. I sat here with my mother who's 93 in two weeks of very, very hot weather without air. They never called. I called three times and still couldn't get anything figured out.
I call American Home Shield every so often and they said, “Yeah, we're trying to connect with Air Max.” So I called Air Max an dthey said, “Yeah, we have to connect with American Home Shield.” This went on and on. In the meantime, my 92-year-old mother was sitting in this hot condo on the third floor. That's not healthy. After the hot spell we had, I finally called Air Max and said, “When are you guys coming? We can't even sleep at night. My mother's old. If she ends up in the hospital, I'm gonna talk to a lawyer.” But the Air Max lady said, “Are you threatening me?” I did not threaten her.
When the weather broke, American Home Shield told me that I was not covered for maintenance. But they still took $125 for all that and they're not gonna give me my money back. I had no clue I was not covered for maintenance. I thought I had insurance and it covered everything. It was a pretty bad experience. My son-in-law came up, squirted it with a power hose, and it started working fine.

I had an issue with my dishwasher and when American Home Shield sent out a technician from True Appliance. He was a bit condescending and spoke to me in a way that was off-putting. But outside of that, he did an okay job. It was just a buildup of soap in the dishwasher that caused it to go into safe mode and not drain. But he checked one of the drains that sits above the sink and noticed that there were soap suds there, so he vacuumed that to get any remnants and ran a cycle. Things seemed to be okay, but the dishwasher did it again on the very next cycle that we did. So, I had to run it through a whole bunch of rinse cycles and it seemed to work okay. I'm still not quite sure that anything's ever been fixed. We've now run four cycles since this has happened and it seems to have worked okay without any issue. So, we'll just hope for the best.

American Home Shield sent Aqua-Brite but they did nothing. The tech walked off my driveway and came back to my driveway. He was on the side of my house for 60 seconds and he said he would get the part ordered. He didn't say anything else. When I saw what he sent to American Home Shield, it that the filter was clogged and that there was a blockage in the system, which was an inaccurate statement. I tried texting with the guy and asking him what happened. He said he took my filter apart, and it was really clogged. I told him I just serviced my filter less than 60 days prior. The fins in it are new. Everything in there is good to go. I also told him there's no pressure and no blockage in my system.
He still said he took it apart. However, I told him he didn't. He was there for 60 seconds. I have a DE filter that needs to be decompressed. It takes like 10 minutes to decompress it. And then you got to take it apart. It's a 30-minute process to do that. I told him he couldn't have done that in 60 seconds because it's physically impossible. He then said, “Clearly, you want a second opinion. Oh, well, I can still do it for you for $650.” It was a horrible experience.
I reached back out to American Home Shield and I told them about what happened. I even researched the company, and the guy's got a 1.5-star rating. All customers of American Home Shield are saying the guy doesn't do what he says he does. There were lots of complaints. So, I told AHS I don't know why they're using this guy. Clearly, all he's getting is a service fee call from American Home Shield. He doesn't care about actually diagnosing the issues.
As far as my claim, it took me four different phone calls to get it escalated and over a week to get someone else to come back out there. They wanted me to pay for the second opinion. I told them I wouldn't because they sent out a Service Pro that wasn't a pro and didn't do the job. So, I wasn't gonna pay that someone else come out to do the same thing. Ultimately, it did get resolved, but it took me making four different phone calls and asking for it to be escalated and having to wait a day or two for a return phone call. If this was a key component of my home that needed immediate attention, it would have been a very bad experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with our service and the difficulties encountered during the repair process. It’s concerning if the technician did not resolve the issue accurately and that you had to exert significant effort to have it properly addressed.

Alexandro was the tech from Aurora Appliances who came out for our AHS claim. He pulled out the washer and dryer stackable to work on the dryer and he fixed it. However, when he placed the stackable washer and dryer back in, he forgot to put the hose back in the hole. I ran laundry right after he left because I needed to and so, water went all over the laundry room down to the basement. Everything flooded.
My husband and I rushed to Lowe’s. We got a dehumidifier and one fan, rolled them in the crawl space, and then had that running for a full week at Lowe's' recommendation. But I called Aurora and Aurora Appliances paid me back for all of the fans and the dehumidifier. I also called AHS but they were ignoring me. They said, “It's Aurora's problem. We don't take care of third party.” But having AHS is worthwhile.
We're sorry to hear about the trouble with your washer and dryer, which led to the water damage in your laundry room. We understand how disruptive such experiences can be and truly appreciate your calm in taking immediate action to mitigate the situation. It’s good to know that you received reimbursement quickly and that when support did base responsiveness resolve your issue onsite efficiently. I had a plumber from CP Plumbing come out in one of my properties. They did everything well. I really appreciate it. I also had a claim in my other property for a refrigerator. The contractor just did a video and talked to my tenant, and didn't even come out and see with that. That was not a good deal. However, American Home Shield gave me half of the service call back. So, that made it right to me. That was good. I'm good with American Home Shield. I have five properties with them. I'll keep them, and all is well. I have used their app. It was easy to set up a claim, and it got done. If I can't do it on the app, I end up calling them.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that CP Plumbing provided exceptional service and addressed your plumbing issues effectively. My home is 10 years old and I wanted to protect it from unexpected expenses, so I bought American Home Shield policy. I bought it in first week of June then my AC went down in the end of July. So, with a lot of hope, I reached out to American Home Shield. The contractor came and found what was wrong with the AC. American Home Shield decided to go with second contractor and the second contractor came. They submitted the same report as the first contractor. But American Home Shield decided that my situation was preexisting, and they denied my claim. So, I did not really get anything out of it.
The first week of August was terrible across the state and I spent two weeks without AC because American Home Shield was evaluating my claim. But at the end, the claim was denied. I ended up fixing it on my own by calling the contractor and they did the job in less than two hours. Also, everyone that I spoke to was really rude and not really willing to understand the problem, but more willing to convey that it was their final decision. Then, the price is extremely expensive compared to Choice Home Warranty. So, I'm extremely disappointed with American Home Shield.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've faced with our service. Dealing with the summer heat without functional AC is undoubtedly distressing. It's disappointing to hear about the delays and your dissatisfaction with the claim process. Thank you for kindly sharing your experience with us.

I like how easy it is to file claims with American Home Shield. I also like that they're pretty quick. I just wish they'd be more proactive instead of reactive. Recently, my pump wasn’t working. The guy who came to replace the capacitor was good. He told me that they wouldn't replace the pump until the pump itself died. We know that this pump is gonna die. Why not just take care of it this time? It sounds bad. It's blowing capacitors. So, in the meantime, I keep having to buy capacitors. Every six to eight weeks, I keep spending $100 to get the pool fixed
I appreciate you sharing your feedback with us regarding your pool pump. It’s encouraging to know that the claim process with Breakthrough Pools was straightforward, and it's great to hear about the positive service from the contractors. This company is a complete disappointment. They refused to repair my AC, claiming it was a “pre-existing problem,” which is absolutely untrue. Their strategy seems to be avoiding coverage for any major or costly repairs, while still collecting your monthly premiums and charging a $125 service fee every time a technician comes out. Don’t be misled into thinking they will cover big-ticket items like AC systems—the very reason most of us purchase a home warranty in the first place. They are quick to take your money but will look for any excuse not to pay when you really need them. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

American Home Shield is nothing but a scam. I filed a service request for a leaking dishwasher with a terrible stench. The contractor never even came to inspect it—He just submitted a “diagnosis” to replace the gasket. I rejected that nonsense and asked for another check, but AHS refused. They kept my $100 service fee and forced me to buy a brand-new dishwasher out of pocket. To make it worse, they then refused to warranty my new dishwasher and insulted me with a measly $16.70 refund for the cost of a gasket. I decided to cancel my plan, and that was another nightmare. I had to talk to four different reps, repeat myself over and over, sit through aggressive sales pitches I didn’t want, and spend more than 2 hours on the phone before they finally agreed.
Then came the refund games. I paid $835 for the plan. According to their letter, they deducted $121.11 (pro-rated) and $50 (admin), which should leave me with $663.89. Instead, they claim my refund is only $567.64—meaning $92.25 is completely unaccounted for. To make matters worse, their cancellation letter was dated August 4, and it’s now September 1. I still have not received my refund. This company cheats customers, denies valid claims, and drags its feet when refunding money. Do NOT waste your time or money with American Home Shield.
Thank you for bringing your most recent AHS experience to our attention. I would be glad to speak with you to assist with a revolution.
Thank you,

Recently, I had one of American Home Shield’s providers come out to my home and the contractor did not do anything. It took them over two weeks to call back for a second appointment to actually fix something. The contractors never sent their information to American Home Shield. When I called American Home Shield to follow up, all they kept telling me to do was to wait. They don’t have good problem-solving skills when the problem is very obvious. Since it was something I really needed to get fixed with my sewer system, I went back into the portal requesting a new service to bypass waiting for the provider who never responded. I got my repair done that way within three days. It was a very bad experience. I had to pay service fees twice.
American Home Shield will make you wait. If something is not working multiple times, they keep trying to put a band-aid over it instead of replacing it. They don’t read the notes. If it’s the second time you said you had a problem, they’ll still avoid replacing it. They’ll say, “Oh, well, you only said you have an issue with the top oven. But if it’s a two-oven attachment, we won’t pay for the bottom ones.” But they come in twos.
They have some good providers, but I don’t know how they vet their providers. When the dishwasher wasn’t working properly the person that came out told me not to use the dishwasher tablets to clean it, but to use baking soda, instead. That doesn't make any sense. Baking soda is a really good cleaner. But it won't do the job. So essentially, he never fixed my dishwasher and I paid him $100.
American Home Shield will then take the side of the vendor. If the contractor diagnosed a problem, he said that he fixed it and then he got paid, then American Home Shield takes the side of the vendor. So you have to just do a waiting game. For some stuff, you just deal with it. For example, with our dishwasher, maybe I'm rinsing off my dishes more or maybe I'm doing a little bit extra. But something like an oven or a sewer pump where I can't do anything about it, because I'm not a plumber, then I have to double pay until I get a better service. Recently, I literally paid double to get a provider out. He fixed it that day and he cleaned up.
American Home Shield will definitely make sure that you pay your bill on time. I’m paying my monthly bill and I have to pay a $100 service fee when they come out. It seems like I’m paying the provider and they’re just paying for the parts. My advice, if your house is new, you may be able to get away with not getting home warranty insurance. Just use the warranty for your appliances. But if your house is old or getting old, then look up for some other home warranties. You can use American Home Shield as your final resource if you can't find another one.

At the last minute of schedule day, I got a message saying the technician has a unforeseen circumstances and won't be able to make the appointment. It has to be pushed back until Monday, which is another two days later. I ended up calling the service company and AHS, staying on the phone either with voice message or useless representatives and even with the expedition team. I would give zero stars if available. THE WORST COMPANY. They take your money, make you jump through 567 hoops, and you get nothing but a headache (and an empty wallet). I called in a septic service request. 3 weeks and 12+ phone calls later, I had to get the work done on my own, out of pocket. Their lack of response, knowledge and legwork almost caused me more damage (which is why I just took care of it on my own). The request from 2 months ago still sits open and unresolved.
What if this had been a furnace breakdown in the winter?! I tried to cancel coverage via online chat, and after requesting the cancellation more than 4 times in that chat... still not canceled. Told that I have to call in to cancel. Now I sit on hold "for 15-20 minutes as all reps are busy" and so I write this review. I know that once I do get to speak with someone, I will be given the "rest assured" language they love to use. And maybe in 45 minutes...maybe, I just might be free of this awful company. Seriously! Save yourself the money and hassle from ever signing a contract with AHS. You will regret it. Our first service request was for a broken pipe. They proceeded to send somebody out, who looked at the problem. A couple days later they claimed it wasn't covered because the pipe broke due to foundation shift. We followed up with our foundation professional who stated there is no way the foundation is what caused the pipe to break.
Problem #2 was a leak in our kitchen ceiling. Took 5 days for a person to come out. By then the water had caused irreparable damage to our oven. They eventually paid for leak and ceiling damage, but we were stuck paying to replace the oven. Shot number three, our washing machine stops working. They send out a 1.3 star yelp review company. A week later they order parts, two weeks later they attempt to repair washer to no avail. Now they're assigning a new appliance tech person. This after saying the 1.3 star yelp company was the most highly reviewed in their portfolio. That should tell you a lot about the people they work with. They're qualified and experienced at nothing besides finding something in contract clause so they can deny claim, even if they have to completely make something up like a foundation shift.
A month later and they want to essentially start over with washing machine repair. If we didn't have a warranty we would have replaced washer within a couple days, but now we're stuck another month going to laundromat. Finally canceled and not sure I'll even bother dealing with letting them try to complete the service. Take my losses and just buy one to be done with it. Run away from them, don't walk.

I signed up with their service this year as well and paid about $700 for the annual contract. My garage door opener broke, and they sent a repairman over. The flat fee service charge was $100 which is ok. The repair man needed to replace two items and American home shield denied them both. in the end I ended up with paying $330 to the garage repair company as well and ended up with $430 from the pocket. The contractor’s visit was good. P.G. was on time and professional. I gave them a review right away. But American Home Shield took a long time to get the paperwork from P.G., which delayed replacing my oven.
I wasn’t happy with that part of the process. The warranty told me I’d hear back within 24 to 48 hours, but I ended up waiting a full week. When I called in, they said they still didn’t have the paperwork. That meant American Home Shield had to wait a few more days to get it, which delayed my replacement.
I also asked American Home Shield today how they came up with the price for my oven. None of the major stores, like Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Best Buy, sell an oven for $1,639. There isn’t any oven microwave combination at those stores for that price.
The warranty gave me multiple choices, but for anything comparable to what I had, I would’ve had to pay more. Their prices were so overpriced that I decided not to go that route. Some of the options also would’ve required modifications on my end, which would have cost even more. In the end, I chose the cash in lieu option.
I just got the replacement today. It’s in the back of my truck right now. But I was without an oven for a long time, so I was a little disappointed with that part. However, it’s not enough to make me want to cancel their service.
I’m also not happy with the Allstate Protection part of this and would like to cancel it. When we talk about the total price, I’m also paying for that Allstate protection plan. I bought Allstate through American Home Shield when they offered that package two years ago.
I don’t even want it. Allstate is separate from American Home Shield’s service. It was an added service they offered to cover other things in the home, and that was a horrible experience.
Sincerely,

I strongly advise against doing business with this company. They misled me about pricing and failed to honor their verbal agreement. I called to ask about the cost of a service call under my existing plan. They quoted me a price, and I agreed to proceed with the claim. However, they later changed the price, citing state sales tax—despite not mentioning this during the initial quote.
I told them I expected to pay the original price, as that was the amount verbally agreed upon. Since then, I’ve repeatedly requested a callback from a manager, but I keep getting routed to the same department with no authority to resolve the issue. Each time, I’m told a manager will call me the next day, but that never happens. Due to the lack of transparency, poor customer service, and broken trust, I’ve filed a formal complaint with the BBB and am currently waiting for a response. If you value honesty and reliability, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I was with American Home Shield for nearly 9 years. They responded fairly with repair issues. However, the longer that I was with them there were fewer and fewer service techs within an hour of my home meaning that wait times for service increased considerably. Also, when I started with them the annual fee was $740 per year with a $75 service fee per occurrence. My renewal was about to be $2,423 per year with a $125 service fee. I cancelled. Cancellation has been a NIGHTMARE.
I first called to cancel in July and was talked into keeping my contract one more month because they would cover the monthly cost. When I called on August 24 to cancel I was told that I would need to call back because another rep was handling my account. This actually violated my contract which clearly states that I can call and cancel at any time. I received a call back the following morning in which after 20 minutes of trying to talk me into keeping my plan, the rep cancelled my plan. He said that I would receive an email in about 5 minutes confirming everything. This email contained a pdf showing an outstanding balance of $137.01. This was not correct. It took another 4 phone calls speaking with 7 different individuals. This process wasted another 2 hours of my time to get everything fixed. 3 years ago I would have recommended them and did on many occasions. I will never recommend them again.

After 5 years of paying thousands of dollars for their so‑called membership, I’ve learned the hard way that their “repair or replace” promise is nothing more than flashy marketing spin. Refrigerator stops dispensing water/ice? They did nothing. Microwave fails? Ignored again. And the final straw: in the middle of August, my AC starts leaking, forcing me to shut it down during triple‑digit heat. Their response? Denied the claim over a minor code technicality that wasn’t even required when the unit was installed. In short, you pay faithfully, they collect happily, and when something major actually goes wrong, they hide behind fine print and excuses. This isn’t a protection plan – it’s a very expensive illusion of one. Save your money, your time, and your sanity.

This is a scam. How can they expect anyone to be without hot water for weeks! They had a plumber call me a the appointment was not for 6 days, then the plumber warned me about this scam company AHS that orders the water heater and it takes another 5-10 day to arrive. The plumber told me they have one client waited three weeks for American Home Scam (shield). Shame on you American Home scam, I can't wait for the class action so I can see you burn down.

AHS has gone down the tubes. They have denied my claims at least 3 of the last 4 times I have used them. All over a technicality. My blower motor on my Furnace was not working properly, it caused the airflow into my house to be very weak. I put in a claim, paid the $100 service fee. The technician who came out said everything is working fine, but recommended the blower motor be replaced because it was vibrating and rattling. But because he didn’t put due to normal wear and tear, they refused to cover it.
Now I’m sitting at home out $100, and an AC that is not fixed. I reached out and demanded I talk to a supervisor, they gave me the run around and told me report said everything was working. Well, when your house only cools down 1 degree in a 12-hour period of being on, I don’t think it is running good. This has happened multiple times. Then each time I talked to somebody different, they say something different. As if I’m being lied to. They are a scam artist company who will just take your money and pick and choose what they want to pay for. Half of them don’t even speak English very well so it’s difficult to understand. Avoid at all costs, unless you wanna be out $1,000 a year for no result when needed. Awful company.

The contractor came because my washing machine shut down. He couldn’t find anything wrong with it, but he said the soap was outdated for this new washing machine, so I changed the soap and everything was okay.
I told a few of my friends and grandkids that they would be better off getting an American Home Shield for their house if they don’t have one. With one call, they came out the next day and took care of what you had to take care of. The price went up, but overall, I’m satisfied with their service.
Warm regards,
Marc

I usually use the online portal and request a service from American Home Shield. Most of the time, it's 24 to 48 hours before I get a response from American Home Shield when they’ve assigned a company, then we have to wait for the company to get to us. So I was pretty impressed that Budget Rooter contacted me as quickly as they did. They responded the same day and repaired a leak under our kitchen sink. They’re one of the best. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been good.

A&S Plumbing came out to fix a drain leak and they were very good. In the four years that I have been with American Home Shield, I use both online and call-in options to file claims. Their customer service is generally fine and straightforward. It is occasionally problematic depending on the complexity of the problem. But on the whole, usually okay.
Sincerely,
Marc

AHS needs to get their act together. I have two accounts with American Home Shield. On one account I filed a claim for my refrigerator and a stove. The electrician they sent to the location did a wonderful job. They were really good. However they weren't quick enough because the company and I had to call them to get them to push something through, and AHS was dragging their feet. So, the company was really good. They stood with me.
We got AHS on the phone and told them to get their act together. And they claimed that there's something that the company sent to them to get back here, but they never saw it. The company had justified, had the reference number and everything, and they wouldn't move with it. AHS just took their time. We were asking for a supervisor. They were not proactive, but I would take Certified Electrical Technologies any time and not go through American Home Shield. I would call the company myself directly. They did their part and everything they were supposed to do.
AHS’ information is not very up-to-date, and they're losing customers. And if they couldn't get their act together, somebody's going to pull them and then they're going to be sitting there looking silly.
On my other account, AHS had a company come out that was very rude, very nasty, came in with the wrong attitude, gave them false information, told them they ordered a part. We never saw the part. Refrigerator's on the blink and can't do anything, and they didn't care. And I can't deal with that. I would not recommend them to anybody. And they requested us to give them a good rating because they did the job but they were very nasty about it.
AHS needs to vet their vendors. They're not vetting them because even right before we had the electrical, we had another call for a washing machine, and nobody ever came or called us. I had to call and tell them to cancel.
