We've had two claims with AHS where one was a good experience and one was horrible. The good one was for our water heater. I called them because we were having cold water and the pilot light wasn't coming on. They dispatched it to a company that was very quick. They came out here the same day and tried to fix it. The next day, we just had cold water. So, we sent pictures to the contractor that they had told us to then the contractor got it passed within a few hours and approved to get us a new water heater. So, that was super quick and excellent. Whoever I spoke with at American Home Shield was very helpful, too. Their approval department was very quick that time and that was nice.

That water heater that American Home Shield ordered would not have been in until today, but the plumber was really smart and had a couple in his shop that he uses with American Home Shield. He just takes one from his stock and replaces it with the one from American Home Shield. That worked out really well and I liked that part of it. But they said they were going to send out somebody to permit it, and that's still not happened. So, I'll just have to give American Home Shield a call back and figure out when that permitting will happen.

My other claim one that was really bad was a call to American Home Shield back on August 17th and that was for our air conditioner. That did not get solved until last Tuesday, which was October 28th. When I called and I told them that my air conditioner was not working. It was 95 degrees, so I asked if somebody come look. And the contractor they gave me couldn't get anybody out here for 10 days. I asked if there was anybody else that could get out here sooner but they said that company was who I'd get. And when those people came out, the tech didn't know what he was doing. He said it wasn't working because it was electrical.

However, when he went to test the air conditioner, he tripped the circuit breaker and didn't turn it back on fully. Then, I called American Home Shield and they said I needed to pay another $100 to have an electrician come out. That took another week and when they came out, they said that the tech who came out earlier just tripped the circuit breaker. They said that it was not an electrical issue but a problem with the cooler of the air conditioner.

I called American Home Shield back again and each time I called, there was a two-hour wait to get through to anybody. And they would always say the same thing that they understood what I was going through. But I told them that they didn't and if they did, they would help expedite something with an air conditioner. They claimed that they did not get any report from either of the air conditioning contractor, so they decided that they wanted to call a third one out. And this was about a week after the second one came out. I told them that was ridiculous. They've had two people out here and it was still not working. But they said they could do what they want.

They then sent somebody different and that took another week. When the tech finally came out, he looked at everything and said that the air conditioner was totally broken. He said I needed a new one and that he was going to put in for that. But AHS claimed that that report was never sent. So, I tried to escalate and figure out. They always told me no manager was available and that everybody was busy. They told me to call the next day but then I spent many hours of my time between August 17th and last Tuesday, calling American Home Shield and trying to find somebody to help me with my air conditioner.

I finally went to social media and was trying to figure out if anybody else had this problem. I decided to direct-message somebody at American Home Shield and finally got somebody named Monica who was extremely helpful. It turned out that they had all the paperwork from all the different places and nobody decided to act on it. So, within 24 hours of involving her, we had new air conditioning parts ordered. But American Home Shield had all of that, yet they flat out lied that they didn't have any of that paperwork. That was frustrating and and it felt like they were trying to make it so that we just gave up and paid for the repair on our own instead of doing their job and paying for the repair when we pay for home insurance. That seemed fishy to me.

But when AHS finally approved for the third tech to repair it, he was super quick and really nice. He did his job, cleaned up, and was great. Still, if a friend asked me, I would tell them to not use AHS. I would tell them to go find a different one and spend their money there even if it's a little bit more money per month. And if I had looked into the reviews a little bit more when we were looking for a home warranty, I would not have chosen AHS.

We’ve, unfortunately, already had a couple problems with this place. We’ve only been in the house about a month and a half. We had a vent pipe in the attic that apparently the former homeowner hadn’t glued when he did some remodeling, and so condensation had built up once we started using the tub in the bathroom. It was trailing back down in the attic and eventually seeped through the ceiling. We originally thought we had roof leak. We know that the home warranty doesn't cover that, so we went to our homeowners insurance and they sent some mitigators out here to assess it and said, “No, you have a plumbing problem, not a roof problem.” So, we had a roofer here.

We called American Home Shield because they cover plumbing, and homeowners doesn't. They sent Fix-n-Flow Plumbing. It ended up being that exhaust pipe, so the plumber who came out said that the warranty company doesn't cover that. He showed me what was wrong and I was like, “I’ll just glue it real quick myself and be done with it. So, it wasn't a problem.” He said, “But they pay me to come out. So, here, I'll give you the glue, just glue it back together.” He showed it and he'd let me do it, and fixed the plumbing. But we lost our deductible because we had to pay that upfront. I'm sure that goes towards him coming out here to tell us we weren't covered.

We had to use American Home Shield twice. The one with the HVAC system was a covered claim. The only thing I would like is getting somebody out here as quickly as possible when you lose your air conditioner or when you have a leak in the ceiling. They have kind of a 48-hour turnaround. But when you have a roof leak, 48 hours is a long time when it's pouring down rain. Getting a faster response time to an initial call would be great. But for the most part, they've been very responsive. I've been very pleased with the contractors that have come out for both claims. The guys from the HVAC company they sent out were top-notch. They explained everything they were doing to us. They were very respectful of our home. They were everything you could ask a contractor to be. They were really very good.

Even the plumber who came out kinda took care of us even though he knew he wouldn't get reimbursed for his time. Other than his time driving here and back, the company was paying for that time, but the repair wasn't covered. He still helped us out while he was here. Overall, we’ve had two experiences with two different vendors that the company has sent out to us. We didn't pick them. In both cases, we've had been very impressed with the contractors who actually didn’t have to do the work. I’ve been pleased with them.

There was some buckling of wood in my house and I thought it was my air conditioner based on what my painter said. So, I reached out to the warranty company and they sent an air conditioning guy who came within an hour. He was amazing. But he diagnosed that it was not the air conditioner, it was the ice machine. So, his company transferred the request to the appliance repair department within the warranty company. I heard from American Home Shield the next day saying that it had been transferred and that I would get a call from the provider within the next 24 hours. They also gave me his number if I needed to call.

AHS was receptive and attentive to my issues. But the tech did not communicate a whole lot. We learned the issue on Tuesday and he wanted to come on Saturday, but I happened to be out of town for the weekend. So, he told me to reach back out on Sunday and he would try to come on Monday. He ended up coming on Wednesday of the next week. But he said he'd been swamped. He was very nice and very helpful, though. And he fixed the problem, so I was happy with the results.

Overall, Appliance Express handled our recent claim very nicely as far as a lot of the businesses this day and age. Their communications were very open to it. They reached out to me a couple of times. They had been polite and they owned up and let me know what the delay was. We scheduled for a convenient time for me. I've worked with Appliance Express before and I have nothing but good things to say about them.

It was a lot easier with American Home Shield than the past warranty company that we had. Overall, it seemed like they have their system set up properly. There wasn't a lot of hassles with it. They took care of the problem fairly quickly, unlike my previous warranty company. American Home Shield, to me, was on top of it, and they took care of things. They value me as a customer in the long run instead of just somebody that's showing out the money to them on a monthly basis or a yearly basis.

I have an outstanding appliance that American Home Shield is gonna replace. I cannot ever get through to the line that I have to talk to to replace it. When I call, it says there's an hour or more wait every single time. They emailed me a, "We were gonna replace your microwave. And here's a replacement." I don't want that replacement. They sure could just email me a link with like, "Here's all the other options you have." I know that they'll replace it with a GE appliance. It's not like it's more expensive. But I have to call and every time I call, I can't ever get through to this line.

Otherwise, they send repair people out promptly. They have done other repairs. I just had them here to repair a clog. They have replaced one other appliance, they replaced my washer, and that went fine. It was very smooth. When it's all via email, it was very smooth. So, they do provide good service. The tech from High Priority who came out for a plumbing issue that I had was very nice and thorough, and he fixed the issue. He wore a mask and booties to protect the floor. I'm pretty satisfied. I continue the service despite the fact that I can't get one thing done.

The worst thing was after the water got on the floor, I had to take out all the new flooring I put down, so they gotta put all that flooring back, but that's life.

My Viking stove was not heating up properly on the inside. The tech had to order a part. Then he came out and fixed it. It's working great since. I like the rep. He knew what he was doing. He was knowledgeable. Sometimes I get people that don't really know how to work on the higher end appliances. But he was good. The biggest complaint I have with American Home Shield is sometimes how long it takes between the first call and the repair. Usually the people come out and look at it and then they gotta order a part or they don't have a part. So it's usually not a real quick fix. Then the other thing is, they're usually not the most experienced best customer service repair people. But it is what it is. You're not going to get the top-of-the-line people for that price. But American Home Shield is good because they cover pre-existing conditions. I haven't ever been really hassled about stuff that's not covered. So I would recommend American Home Shield.

It took about a week to get my claim to American Home Shield in motion. A gentleman and a young lady came out, and they're both electricians. The gentleman did the surveying of the light problem. This all happened in maybe a full hour period. After we surveyed the problem, he then went out to get permission to buy the replacement bulbs. He came back, went through the process, and within a few hours, everything was working really well. I was impressed with the way he came in. I'm a retired electrical engineer, so I sorta had a feeling as to what he was doing, and he was very capable.

American Home Shield has been good so far. We've been with them for 10 years and they have done their work. It's better to have it because if something goes wrong, we can just call them and get it fixed. There are times that they tell me that they're not gonna deduct the $75 until the services are done. Other times they pick it up before the services are done.

I had an issue with the in and out, a mini split system that I had put in one of my rooms. They sent me some persons and they didn't actually know what's going on. So they just gave me to purchase a unit back for me then they said that they didn't wanna guarantee it anymore. I didn't know why. They would just pay me out and they wanted me to pay $4,000 or $5,000 to get it reinstalled so they could claim. I told them that the system is worth $1,200 and asked why I have to pay $4,000 to get it installed. It was to go through the city and the permits and all these. So, I just bought one and put it on myself. Recently, L & S Appliance came out for our appliance. A thermostat was replaced and they already have it.

He also had a face covering on. However, he didn't find anything wrong with the refrigerator which currently still has the same popping noise. Also, when the ice from its ice maker drops, some drop into the pan, and others drop behind the pan. Regardless, my experience with AHS has been great throughout the years I have been with them. The heater had caused damage to my platform and the drywall so McPherson suggested that we had to have everything dried out on a platform and rebuild before he puts a new water heater in. They referred us to a company that would do that. We ended up putting in a claim with the homeowner's insurance because of the damage to the wall. After everything was done, McPherson came again, reinstalled, and did upgrades to bring everything up to code. They were very thorough and kept us in the loop. We were in a position wherein we didn't know what to do first. McPherson was very helpful with that and they gave us the steps that we needed to do. I'm very pleased with my AHS coverage. The contractor came out for our recent claim and he had the part in his truck, which is a miracle ‘cause they never have the parts right. So he was able to fix it the same day and everything's fine. One thing that was strange was he ordered the part and then went out to his truck and had it. So we had a part show up from Amazon and it's just sitting in the house. We don’t know what to do with it.

We've had to file a few claims with AHS and get them involved. Everything seemed to go pretty well with that. We've had to use it five times. The only weird one we had was we had a copper pipe that was leaking. It's called electrolysis, the process that breaks down the copper pipe. So it was deemed that electrolysis is not covered as “wear and tear” so we had to pay out of pocket for that. It was a little bit frustrating. Then when the contractors came and repaired it, they repaired a 6-inch piece of pipe and so it's just gonna happen again. AHS didn't seem like they were very clear on what was covered and what was not. American Home Shield got out of that one when it seemed like they should probably have paid for that. But it's water under the bridge at this point. It just rubbed us the wrong way. Everything else, though, has been good.

I've used American Home Shield several times and it's easy to request service. You don't have to be on the phone waiting. You can do it online. They respond very quickly letting you know who the contractor is and provide their information as well. I've had some contractors that take a day or two to get back to me and that kinda bothered me a little bit. But the most recent ones have been really good. I had my air conditioner replaced and that contractor was great. I looked them up and all these reviews saying weren’t bad things. The things they were saying were people were impatient. When you lose your AC in July and it's humid and 100-degree heat, you get angry. But this guy answered all my questions and we had a good conversation. The people that I've dealt with so far that they've sent out, for the most part, have been very knowledgeable. They know what they're doing. They're not trying to do shabby contract work. They represent well.

I have two recent claims with American Home Shield. One was for a garage door opener and the other was for my washing machine. Two different contractors came and both were fine. The garage door got fixed the same day. The guy was here 30 minutes and seemed to know what he was doing. He was very professional and nice. The other guy was the same thing. He has to see if he can order parts because they don't make the machine model I have anymore so they may not be able to find parts. The other option was to get a new machine. He presented options on both.

On October 1st, I had a warranty service come out to check my air conditioner that wasn't working properly. The tech fixed that but 30 days later, I turned on my heater and there was no heat coming out. I had to call American Home Shield again to have somebody come out. What had happened was that when the initial techs were working on the air conditioning system, they disconnected two wires that belonged to the heating system. When the tech found those wires, he connected them and now my heater is working fine. I felt a little slighted though because I had to spend another $75 to get my issue fixed when I shouldn't have. So far, we've been happy with our AHS warranty. We've had several occasions when we used the warranty and we've been very satisfied with the results. The contractors are always polite, clean and respectful. We've told several of our friends that AHS's warranty is worth the money they would pay.

I've had to use AHS several times over the years that I've had the contract and it takes a while to get an appointment. One time, my refrigerator went out and it took them a while to come and fix it. Then, I was told I needed a new refrigerator. The contractor couldn't fix it. But it turned out that the outlet it was plugged into wasn't working. It went bad. I almost got a new refrigerator.

Most recently, the computer part of the washing machine said there was an error and when I looked it up, the water valve was leaking. I went online and I told AHS the problem. They made the appointment and Sears came out and looked at it. The tech asked me again what the problem was and I told him. They said they were gonna have to order the parts and I was a little upset about that because I've already told him what the problem was. They used to keep things like that on the trucks. But maybe with COVID, they don't. The part had to be mailed to me and it was another two weeks before my washer got fixed. Three weeks is a long time to be without your washer. Not having it was not too bad on a day-to-day basis because I live by myself, but I keep my grandkids on the weekend. I wound up having to go to the laundromat a couple of times during that time period. But the tech was very professional and did the repair in a timely manner.

My air went out the first time and the home warranty sent someone out. They fixed it but not even six months later, it went out again. This was during the cool season and we didn't have any heat. This time, Air Dynasty came out. But the home warranty didn't pay for whatever Air Dynasty told them that they were gonna charge. I had to save up my money and I got the unit fixed.

I paid for Air Dynasty to fix my air in March. Right now, my heat went out. My air was working but Air Dynasty turned it off. We don't have air and heat. Before my air went out, they told me I should get my unit maintained. I said okay because I didn't know that you need your unit to be maintained. A guy named Miguel came. That was in June and it was the summer. We knew the winter was gonna come and we didn't want the heat to go out again.

Miguel told me everything that needed to be done and it was gonna be $1,300. It was a maintenance tune-up. It's cold out here in Texas. We turn the heater on and it's blowing cool air. I needed to get Air Dynasty out since I just paid for them in March to come. I was thinking maybe I have a warranty because I paid them out of pocket and not through the home warranty.

A guy came out and he told me the same thing about the maintenance. That was what he put on the paper. I feel like he just wanted me to get that done. But I don't need that done right now. There was something else that he told me that needed to be done. Altogether, this came up to $2,800. I'm upset at this point because we don't have money like that and this air goes out every six months. I don't like it. A supervisor came out and he asked me if I could give Miguel a 5-star. This made me mad. In my heart, I didn't wanna give them a 5-star because I don't think they deserved it.

He said if I gave a 5-star to Miguel, he was gonna help me out. I didn't even know what that meant, but I gave the 5 stars he asked. The supervisor then told me the stuff that Miguel said needed to be fixed and that they have a warranty for 60 days. If the unit breaks after 60 days, that would be on me. That was stupid. Why would I pay $2,800 for something that was gonna break and they were still gonna make me pay again? He was trying to offer me to get a whole system and everything for $15,000. I don't have that money. The supervisor said he would take $5,000 so I would only have to pay 10,000. I would just have to give him 5,000 upfront and we'll do in-house financing. But I said no.

I am upset because he came in friendly but he was a whole liar. I paid someone that was not with the home warranty to come out. I didn't trust Air Dynasty at that point. The company that came out looked at the unit and the only thing he says that I needed was an air handler. I showed the tech the paper Air Dynasty gave me and he told me I didn't need what was written there. This made me question why Air Dynasty was trying to get all my money. Why were they trying to make me pay for stuff that I didn't need that only had a 60-day warranty and that I would be responsible for when the unit breaks again? The tech from the company I hired said nothing was wrong with my air unit because it's six years old.

My thing with Air Dynasty is why they were fixing the unit only for it to last six months. Miguel put the same stuff from the maintenance on that paper along with something else. Why didn't they say this back in March when they came to fix the unit? The other guy, on the other hand, was so nice. He only told me that someone cut my wire thingies up there and showed me pictures. But ever since I've been here, no one has been up here but people from the home warranty.

Another thing with my home warranty is there are a lot of stuff that they don't cover. I don't trust anybody anymore that the home warranty sends out. People just tell me anything. And when I make a claim with American Home Shield, I call because when I pick the choices, I can't really say what I wanna say. But there was a time I used the online option. That was for a plumbing claim. Both claim options are fine. But sometimes the reps don't understand me and I don't understand them. That can be a little frustrating.

There was something stuck but now, my refrigerator opens and closes properly. There is proper temperature control. For the washing machine, one of the cables got loose that was why I had no power. He reconnected and secured it so it’s working. Since the repair, my appliances have been good so far. I’m happy with the service and coverage of American Home Shield.

I called American Home Shield up and they sent somebody, and the repair person came out. He said it wasn't his job to clean it, so he did not clean it. He didn't take it apart either. He just left it, and it's still the same. I thought everything was covered, but American Home Shield said that if I drop something from a cabinet above the stove and I break it, they won't repair it. It's gonna break by itself. That's silly. I was gonna cancel my policy, and then they said I had to pay a prorated fee to cancel. I couldn't believe they were gonna charge me to cancel too.

UA Heating and Cooling came out and Yuri was amazing. I called him first and then he made an appointment within 24 hours. He texted my husband before coming but then, of course, we didn't get the text so I then harassed him. He said that he texted and he was 10 minutes away. He came in and put on his little booties. He was very kind and professional. The dog liked him. He did his stuff, showed me what was wrong, and then, very quick, in and out. I hadn't known what the hell was going on and I had many questions, and he was very patient. He had his mask on and we kept our distance. Even when I stepped forward, he would step back.

It was good to know right when we realized the heating didn't work, it was no big deal. However, I didn't know why I'd usually call and wait at least 45 minutes or an hour before I get a human being. But it was so fast online. I should have done this way earlier. American Home Shield also does preventative tune-ups in emails and that's really cool too. They had started sending the furnace last September and that was really good too. My heater broke and they came out too. I've been telling people that I've got American Home Shield warranty.

I have a Sears Kenmore dryer and if I put it in the heavy-duty mode, it would heat a little bit. It takes three sessions to actually dry a load of laundry and that was frustrating. I waited for two weeks for Sears, through AHS, to come out after they had made the appointment. The day that they were supposed to come out, Sears called and said that they needed to reschedule because they have a sick technician. Their next appointment available was another two weeks out and that was highly frustrating.

I called AHS and they resubmitted the work order to this new company, Optimum Appliance. The guy called me that night on a Friday and said he’d be out on Monday, which was fantastic. He was here the next business day. He wore his booties and he came in. I took him to the dryer, I left him alone, and let him do his thing. 20 minutes later, he came out and showed me the few parts he replaced, and that was that. I've called AHS three different times on three completely different issues, and I'm still waiting on one of them to be completed. Ultimately, it's for a part that we're waiting on. But otherwise, everything's been great.

It took a little bit longer than I would have liked to, but it wasn't them that caused the time. There was just a lot heavier schedule so it took a while for the person to get out. Once they did get out and assessed the problem, we had to get our washer replaced and it took a little bit of time for them to communicate the fact that we needed to get put in the replacement process. I called and effectively found out that I needed to be in the replacement process. So I had to call up the replacement department, which made the whole process take just a little bit longer, but it wasn't that bad. I'm happy that what I've used American Home Shield for is working out. He came out to find out what the problem was and then he ordered the part. Then he came back and repaired the washing machine. It seems to be working pretty good after the repair. When I called the water heater in, I was telling the lady that my hot water heater was not working. But she got it mixed up with the HVAC. I've been with Home Shield for 12 years. I have recommended Home Shield to three different people this year. Just recently, another person. They left their old warranty to go with them. This is the first time I've ever had the worst experience. I got a brand-new hot water heater that leaked badly. We had to clean it up because Home Shield sent a guy out here. I told him how bad he was. Unprofessional and everything. Home Shield wanted me to pay for someone else to come out. I said, “No.” They said, “Well, your 60 days is up.” It was just 10 days over it. And she was like, “Well, you gotta pay.” I said, “No, I'm not paying for something that's brand-new.” That was in months now.

I guarantee it's gonna leak again because the tech ripped off something, and he said it was a pipe. He said he would get his money back from Home Depot? I was like, “Home Depot?” I didn't want him back out. But Home Shield sent him anyway because they told me that there was nothing they could do. One lady said, “You can yell at me. You can do whatever you want. But there's nothing I can do for you.” They had no problem taking my money.

It was a brand new hot water heater. Now, it looks horrible. It has hard water stains all over it. The guy said, “We can do something. Just call the warranty on there and tell them, and see if it says it’s under warranty.” They were really trying not to send someone else out. I've called several times for people to come out and do something. I don't have a problem paying it.

The guys from the hot water heater place came out. The tech said, “You know what, ma’am? I've never seen anything like this.” It’s horrible down there. It’s still trashy. He said, “First of all, he needs to open this up.” It’s the valve you open up for pressure. “Second of all, it’s coming fitting. He did this. It's not the hot water itself.” It took two months almost to get somebody. But Home Shield called him anyway. I also said I don't want them calling me. Nope, they did anyway. The guy called me. He was rushing like he was the first time. And the first time he came, he said he couldn't drain the old hot water heater so he threw it down on the ground. However he did, it was water everywhere. He told me to turn my air on, and the air would evaporate the water.

I heard him clunk something, and he threw another pipe on. But I believe it's gonna do it again because the recent guy said, “When he cut your copper pipe, he's supposed to shave that down. He didn't do that, so that's why it ended up leaking.” It's not dripping anymore, but I wish you could see what the new hot water heater looks like. It’s full of white stuff on top. It doesn't even look new. So now, we have to clean up his mess. I couldn’t believe Home Shield wouldn't even stand behind any of that.

For a month and a half, I couldn't get anyone to call me back. I understand the lady said they were working remotely. They were just saying, “Well, our manager, he's right here.” One was like, “He's on the phone. As soon as he pass me, I'm gonna call.” But come to find out, they were at home working. One person, speaking with me on the phone, had me on hold, fell asleep with me.

We had a plumbing issue and on the first visit, the tech came and assessed the problem. They had to order the part, and they called when the part was in. He came back the following week and installed it. So, everything is working fine. We've been satisfied with American Home Shield. My mother pays $65 a month for her contract. So, it's like $650 or so for the year. For seniors, that's a lot of money. It is expensive, but it's worth the cost. We have peace of mind when something breaks down.

We did have a problem with the refrigerator, and it was finally resolved after seven months. They kept sending a technician out, and then I would call again and said, “it's freezing up on the back panel.” They’d send somebody out again, and after five times, I said, “Send somebody else that knows what the heck is Samsung.” My brother-in-law got on the phone and he went higher up and we finally got a new refrigerator because they could not fix it. They couldn't get the part. We got a new refrigerator, but it was aggravating.

With American Home Shield, I have annual check-ups on my heating and my cooling system. The assurance that everything is working fine helps my comfort level. I would tell others to get American Home Shield. You don't know how it could be helpful but it could be really helpful in the end. I requested two services and I've been satisfied. My cooktop shattered and the process of making the claim was fairly easy. It was my first one so I learned a lot during that one. It made the second one easier. There was a little bit of communication errors but it worked out good in the end. I thought Lansing Appliance had the part then I thought American Home Shield was gonna pay them out ‘cause they didn’t have it. I thought it was gonna be November 10th when they came but it was really earlier. There were little hiccups but nothing too discouraging. Overall, it was a great experience.

The cooktop guy was great. With the plumbing individual, that service was a little different. I didn’t even schedule. They were just like, “Hey, the person is gonna be out on this day at this time.” They didn’t come then they rescheduled me for the next day, same time. When he came out, he didn’t see the issue. Immediately after he left, my son took a shower and I saw where the leak was coming from so I sent some videos. We’re playing phonetag right now for them to get back out here and see what they can do about that service request.

I cannot get Kelley Brothers Electric to call me back. They came, said the fan was not repairable, and they would order one. I wanted to talk with them about what they were gonna order but I've not heard from them since October 30th when they came and saw the fan. I have a high-end Hunter fan five blades with three different lights. They haven't contacted me saying it was ordered. They haven't returned any of my phone calls. They haven't returned any of my texts. The representatives from American Home Shield who have called them and texted them have gotten no answer. Yesterday, the lady said that they did reply and said they would call me today and possibly install a new fan on Friday, and that I had no choice in what they picked out. I'm wanting something that compares to the Hunter fan I have. If they were able to order blades that were white instead of brown, that would be great.

Everything up to the electrical part was good. Short's Plumbing has good customer service but I forgot to tell them I have two plumbing issues so I have to make another claim now and pay another $80 call out. I wanted to try to add something to the claim. She said because they had already come and closed it down, I could not do that. I'm unhappy about that. Within 30 days, if you realized that you had not made the claim properly, being able to addendum the service request and add something to it without paying another service fee would be good. Contractors should also be held responsible to return calls within 72 hours or they will no longer be used by American Home Shield because of customer dissatisfaction.

There was only one time that I thought they didn't do a very good diagnostic job but most of the times they've come out, they've been very responsive and they've satisfied our concern very well. Submitting claims with AHS has been quite easy, too. They usually send out a tech within a day or two and and we've been very satisfied with them. They were able to solve our problem with the dryer, then had a claim for our refrigerator where the techs came out four times but were unable to really diagnose the problem. They finally decided that they weren't able to fix the problem, so they recommended to American Home Shield to replace the refrigerator. But they wouldn't replace it. They did a buyout and I was not really satisfied because we ended up having to put several hundred dollars back into it anyway. In my opinion, the techs should've been able to fix it.

I had a leak in one of the lines of my HVAC system. American Home Shield had someone come out and they didn't fix the problem. They didn't wanna come back out because they said that they didn't cover it. The guy was very unprofessional. They acted like they didn't wanna be there. I complained to my representative because I'm a realtor and I sell American Home Shield. She moved it up in the line. I called another company to come out and get it repaired because I didn't want that company to come back out as they wanna come back only if I paid them directly. I paid out of pocket, and then American Home Shield reimbursed me. It ended up okay. This is still in the middle of the pandemic as well. It was tough to get somebody on the line. I was waiting for so long and that was a bad experience.

I also had another issue with the vendor and this happened last year. My refrigerator was not shutting properly. The vendor came out and he had to order some door lining part. A week later, he came back and put it on the door and it wasn't working. But as he was putting that, he was on his cell phone. Evidently, he was distracted. He was in a stressful time because he was trying to set up the wedding and he got loud. He was talking to his mother-in-law's mother and he was trying to fix that door. I asked him if he could get off the phone and if he could handle working on my door. He got upset with me. I told him that it was unprofessional and that he had to leave and that we would take care of it. We had to call somebody else to get it repaired.

American Home Shield doesn't have control over the vendors. The vendors have been professional but sometimes, they don't make a lot of money. When the vendor comes out, we're not their client. We're American Home Shield clients. They treat us like second class citizens in those two cases. It wasn't very pleasant. But I understand that from a business standpoint. It happens. For the most part, I don't get very many of them. But American Home Shield needs to screen their vendors more. There's no way one can predict how the vendors are gonna treat American Home Shield customers. However, recently, I had a plumbing issue and the representative from Prime Plumbing came out. His name was Jackie. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He did a fantastic job and I was very pleased.

The tech from H & C Electric was great. It was a light bulb issue and he said that the old halogen lights sometimes have this issue. We changed it to one of the new LED lights and it was a pretty expensive change of light bulb, but I haven't had a problem since. But speaking to someone at American Home Shield has been frustrating and I have been speaking to people in the Philippines.

The service has been beneficial so far. But there are some things that I would like to have included, like septic systems would be great. Also, there were a couple of things that we did ourselves before I got the membership. We had a broken toilet and we had to have a plumber out. With other insurances or FSA type things, you can provide your receipts and get the money back for the fixes that you have done. But that was not the case with American Home Shield. So that was kind of frustrating because we only moved in and I didn't have my policy number. Our toilet was overflowing so there were things that we had to do. We were members and we already paid. But we were not able to use that insurance and we were not able to claim it back. Other than the frustrating calls when I have to get a service person out, and not being able to get things reimbursed in the beginning, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield.

The technician had to go out to get a part and I was shown the part that he changed on the dryer. We've been with American Home Shield forever and it's been okay so far. But when it comes to issues, especially the AC unit, AHS doesn’t cover refrigerants. It's not every year that you add refrigerant. It depends on how old the cooling unit is. But sometimes you have to do four pounds of it and it's very expensive. You wonder why you have an insurance when they can't cover that. They should cover half of the refrigerant cost on whatever year.

One of my problems with American Home Shield is when you have to have something replaced, they order it and send it. We can't just pick up a unit from the repair company. We're in Arizona. If our AC unit goes out, it might be a week or 10 days before something is shipped out to the company that they pick and have it sent here and get it replaced. What do I do in that time? My thing is I would hate to be down here during a 100 degree weather and have to wait a week or 10 days to get an AC unit.

We had a dishwasher go out a couple years ago. That dishwasher should have been fixed within a week. But because there was some confusion between who had to do what, it didn't get done for three to four weeks. Somebody dropped the ball and never ordered the dishwasher to begin with. After 10 days, I finally called American Home Shield and they said they didn't have a record of it being ordered. But once it got here, the company came right out and installed it. They hauled the old one away and everything was fantastic.

Last year, our hot water heater went out and I called American Home Shield right away in the morning. By 10 o'clock, we had a guy out and replaced the hot water heater. They got that right from the dealer. Recently, there was no cold air and it ended up being the condenser that went bad. I filed the claim and by 10 minutes to 8:00 the next morning, AAA had called me. By 10:45, the unit was fixed and everything was running normal. They were a great company.

I would definitely recommend American Home Shield but if something gets replaced, they should let the repair company take a shot at replacing it with their equipment. The dishwasher that American Home Shield got for us was like $750. Dave's Appliance said they could’ve gotten one for less than that. Other than those, American Home Shield is a fantastic. I told our neighbor about them. He had had a home warranty provider and he said it was a complete battle. Every time he went to file a claim, they would say his stuff was too old and they were not gonna fix that. He finally dropped them and I told him what we had here.

I’m so frustrated right now. I called in and AHS was not able to get anybody from their network to service my water heater. After waiting and waiting, nobody called me back or anything. I called somebody and they came and shut off the water so I was out of water for a couple of days. Then AHS called in and they authorized me to get a third-party to fix the problem but that we have to call in, give diagnostic, and get approval so that’s what we did. But the number they gave us did not work. We called the regular number and we talked. They said the technician could go ahead and start the repair and that they approve it. They gave me a reference number for us to hire a third party and I have an approval number, which means approval for reimbursement and for the work.

Then, I called them and they said it was not approved and that the technician did not call them. I said I have a recording of them asking to give them two days. I gave them two days, called back, and they just left me a voicemail. They apologized and they said they misspoke. The reimbursement was approved and they gave me an email address with the approval number again.

I called them to check on the status of the reimbursement and they said the information is incorrect and my reimbursement is not approved. I made an escalation and said I’d like to talk to one of the managers. And this is the problem, too, dealing with outsourcing several other countries. They said they don’t have a manager and nobody would talk to me and I cannot get in touch with the claim department. They said they would get back to me but nobody has called me or emailed me. In the past, submitting claims have been easy. But it wasn't a big deal. It just took a bit of time. I just had renewed but the website couldn't find me under my phone number. I had to speak to someone because for some reason, when my old policy stopped, it took my phone number out of there also. It took quite a while because I didn't have my paperwork with me that had my new policy number on there. The rep had a hard time finding it too. They eventually found my policy through my address.

My recent claim was the switch on the heating unit that shuts the heating coils down if there's an arc. There must have been an arc so it just shut all the coils down. It was just a little piece that needed to be replaced. But its job is to shut the system down to prevent fire. The only difficulty with that contractor is that they're out of Hermiston. They don't come to my area very often. They come once a week. So if I miss them, then I have to wait another week. And we had 19-degree weather so I had to go out and buy some space heaters, so that it wouldn't be as cold. The part was coming from Chicago. It was supposed to be there on a Wednesday. I hoped that they would be able to schedule me, but they wouldn't schedule me until the part came in. They didn't have any more openings for that week, so I had to wait another week.

Other than that, Brad, who was my technician, did a great job. He was very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond on a couple of things. Some tubing was worn, and he said, "Oh, I've got some of that in my rig. I'll just go out and grab some tubing." I know he didn't charge for it. It wasn't something he had to do. He just did it because he said at some point it might fail. I have peace of mind knowing that I can call and get taken care of so I pay the service fee.

The claim submission became difficult because I didn't know what category to pick for the appliance that needed service. So I ended up having to call instead of just doing it online and I had to talk to somebody to explain a little bit more of what it was. But they were able to narrow it down to what I needed. Then the guy from AMP Mechanical who came out for the heater was nice and professional. He had a mask on and we weren't ever in close contact. I'm good with American Home Shield. I got them in March and that was the first time I used it.

I'm very dissatisfied because I had claim for an air conditioner, but American Home Shield couldn't get a vendor out for it, so I had to send my own. I'm now $6,000 out of pocket. They're promising me 2,000 but they don't seem to be able to answer my calls and it's been three months. I had another claim when we had a sink drain that was stopped up. We attempted to submit it online but it was unsuccessful. We had to go to the phone. We waited for 45 minutes before we got to talk to someone and they couldn't get someone out for 72 hours. That has been usually the case. I've yet to do it online successfully. I never hear back from them too. The contractors have been great though. Once they're assigned, they get in as fast as they can, and they've yet to be unable to fix something.

I got a side by side refrigerator, and the freezer part wasn't working properly. The refrigeration part was working okay, but not the freezer part. It was not getting cold enough. I just called up American Home Shield and put the claim through their computer system. They assigned it to the GE company to come out and look at it. So, it was pretty easy.

The tech was good. He had been out here before for some reason a while back, so I remembered him, and the interaction was okay. He had to order parts. It took about a week for him to come back out, which I think in all the entire process that was probably the one that probably was lacking. The part came in that Monday, but he had already pre-scheduled an appointment out that Friday. So even though the part was in, they didn't make it back out then until that Friday. Once he got everything installed, everything works properly. American Home Shield, overall, was very sensitive to our needs and showed empathy for our situation.

Our laundry washer would start filling up by itself without it even being turned down. But we had two power surges in my neighborhood where the power went off and it came back on twice. I thought it caused the computer in the washing machine to go haywire so it started doing that. It happened at night. It filled about halfway and then the water ran out. The next morning, I got up and I had a wet kitchen. The contractor took almost a month to get the proper parts shipped in. I was really worried about that. But things are working now.

We found that our furnace had cracks so we called American Home Shield because we were told that the whole thing needed to be replaced and we wanted to verify it and do it the right way. American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp and they also said that there were cracks that had potential for failure. If it did fail, then it would be CO2 poisoning throughout the house. We were told that a lot of parts before had been replaced. But when the tech opened it up and I looked at it, there was stuff in there that was rusted. The wires were old and the guts hadn't been replaced. So we told the gentlemen from United Air Temp that we wanted the whole thing replaced. He agreed that it was a good idea and then he sent all the information to American Home Shield.

United Air Temp did a really good job with communication and follow-up. If the tech was available, he called me earlier during the day to ask if I would like for him to come by at that time. But I'd already set it up to kind of be within that window of time. They were very professional. But it was a little bit off when after I thought the tech already knew that we wanted to cash out and try and replace the whole unit, he said he had to come by for the paperwork. When he came by, it wasn't the paperwork to do that process. It was paperwork for a contract with them to get them to replace it. So I don't know if he misunderstood or he was trying to get the business for himself, which was very understandable. There was also a miscommunication about the amounts. The tech told us that it was gonna be $600. But when he came here, he said it was gonna be $500. But they were fast in what they did, and they seemed really knowledgeable. They were on point.

But when the tech came to repair it, he said if I gave him the faucet, I would have to pay for it to be installed. So I paid $175 to have it installed. There was a cash back option and we received $120 back. So that didn't come out as well as I had hoped. But the toilet was replaced because it wasn't flushing very well. That was quite acceptable to us.

The claims process worked pretty well. Once Nutex got involved, they handled several points for that. So it worked for our benefit. Nutex was quite well-equipped to handle our issues. The technician himself was quite knowledgeable of how to fix things and did things in a very quick and timely manner. He came to the house with shoe protectors on and a mask for the COVID thing requirements. It was very good.

The last time that happened, it was a nightmare because we got a management company that was bad, and the people AHS brought in canceled a number of times. We almost dropped AHS back then. Still, the service is better now.

Recently, the pieces of plastic that held my old dishwasher's control panel on had snapped off. So, its buttons no longer worked. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield specifying that I had a dishwasher problem and what type of dishwasher I had. I also briefly described the problem to them. In a few days, a young man came out but then he didn't have the part needed in his truck. He made the temporary repair I did better and ordered a part to be sent to my house. He came back two weeks later and did the job. A few weeks have passed and we've had no problems since then. We've had Home Shield for about 20 years now and we've had many claims. Not too long ago, the control panel on our microwave broke and the manufacturing company doesn't make the needed part anymore. AHS gave us money for part of the cost of a replacement microwave. Right now, we're satisfied with them.

I purchased a home and a one-year service with American Home Shield came with it as part of the agreement with the person I purchased the home from. It was easy making a service request. For a plumbing issue I had, F6 Plumbing was my given contractor. That claim went well. The guy that came over was knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. He took care of the problem for me. He said it was maybe because my water heater was old. It was maybe 20 years old. There was calcium buildup in the line and it had to be sediments coming out of the water tank. He had never really seen anything like that before. He suggested that I get the water heater replaced.

I feel good about the service. It was $75 to get the F6 Plumbing out to my house and they came within a reasonable time. It was just trying to figure out what is covered by my program and what kind of repairs American Home Shield will pay. The guy was just giving me information telling me what was covered and what wasn't. It doesn't seem like much is covered. It almost seems like I'm paying a lot of money for comfort. But if I saved that money, then I can replace any part or do any work I need to do anyway. I'm still debating on whether I want to sign up with American Home Shield next year because I have no problem with saving money. Given that, why would I pay somebody some money when I can just get the stuff done myself.

The refrigerator was not cooling so I put in a work order on the computer. The American Home Shield website really sucks. You can't even tell them anything. I was with a different company for a long time and when their contractors didn't come out, you could just email a message and talk to people. Also, I really hate the whole setup with American Home Shield. I was without air conditioning for 10 days. I'm 65 years old and I have health issues. I figured the communication out. I pay American Home Shield. American Home Shield contracts with a company that doesn't even really have a business. They sit in this big two storey beautiful home and they subcontract out all of their work. It's horrible. Some of the contractors really suck. The one that American Home Shield sent me out the first two days with the air conditioner was horrible. Now, the contractors that ended up coming the second two days and repaired it were totally awesome.

The American Home Shield call centers in the Philippines and the people that answer over there are absolutely awesome. They're very nice and polite. They really try to get back with you where I've never found that to be true with any other one. I've now used three different companies. They really try hard to get the contractors to do what they need to do. But where the ball drops is the communication that American Home Shield and the other ones that don't seem as interested to complete the job as the actual warranty company. Once they know what they have to do, you just sit there until they feel like taking care of you.

In the first three days that people came out to my house for my air conditioning, they were sent at 4 or 5 o'clock. So no matter what they found, nothing was getting done that day. Then finally they told me that it'd be a four-hour window and they'd be here for repairs 'cause they had to do stuff to the inside and the outside unit. They were done an hour and a half. And it's working great.

It involved a leak and it turned out to be the rubber gasket that goes around the door of the dishwasher. He kind of did a little thing to it 'cause he had to come back and bring the gasket. But he fixed it enough that I could still use it until he was able to come back the following week with a new rubber gasket which he installed. He was very professional. The second time he came out, he had an apprentice with him that he was kind of teaching and showing him how to fix things, and that worked out great. He was nice and went a little bit further and said, "To make sure that this doesn't happen again, be sure to push the dishwasher all the way closed. Don't let it just sit out." He kind of explained everything to me.

Everybody I have talked to or worked with at American Home Shield has been awesome. The thing is the price might be a little high for what they cover. The policy expires in two days but for the price, I'm not sure that I really need it. If I hadn't even one appliance go out each year, for the cost of the policy, I don't know that it would be worth it to me. The things I wanted the policy on like the fireplace and the sprinkler system, it didn't cover. Those are the things I had problems with that. Also, I had a really hard time trying to get somebody on the phone. The rep did explain to me that I was calling at kind of at a peak time and there are other times you can get through easier.

SAP Services didn't do a good job and they have to come back and do it again. It's another day of scheduling. Getting scheduled and getting the schedule right has been going on for two and a half weeks now. I'm still having an issue with my shower head. The plumber told me what was needed and that American Home Shield has to approve it. I called them on Friday, and they said that the driver has not given a detailed reasoning yet, and that he will. I don't know if that's been done though. I’ve been calling to follow up today and I haven’t been able to get through.

The approval process could be a little better. Why should I call if the plumber's the expert? Why don't they just listen to him? It's like dealing with insurance people. They deny first, and then you get on them, and finally, they do it. That’s not a cool feeling. American Home Shield is usually good and this is the first time I've had an issue. Whether it's them or SAP, it’s unclear where the problem is coming from.

They put new hinges on my refrigerator door. A's Appliance has been very professional and courteous. Their work is good ‘cause things have worked. It brought peace of mind that the refrigerator ain't gonna break down and we're not gonna lose anything. The stove certainly got back to order.

Both my wife and I enjoy American Home Shield and we love what it does. We requested to have someone look at our heating system to make sure it was working properly in the AC unit. The guy who came was very easy to talk to and he worked on everything. He was concerned about where everything was. He asked first where the system is located so I didn't have to go in there. He looked at the system said everything was okay. There were just a couple of things that we needed to make some adjustments to.

He also gave us some suggestions to help with some of our heating system because we had some concerns dealing with our home. He came up with some great things. The guy came on Monday and it has been a few days. We turned on the heating unit for a little bit to try it and it seemed to be okay. Last year, we had some issues with the unit and it really needed to be cleaned. We did that. We wanted to check it again. There are no major issues so it was good.

There were a couple of times that we used American Home Shield, like for a plumbing issue last year, and it really worked out well. That's why we renewed our subscription. This is the first time we've done a home warranty and I didn't know anything about it. But after getting involved with American Home Shield, I really like the service. It really works well for us. Some of my neighbors have the home warranty and we always talk good things about it. They like it too. I talk to a lot of people at work and I'm always recommending American Home Shield.

With American Home Shield, it's easy because it's quick. You can set somebody up to come in very quickly. The people they send are very professional. I haven't had any issues with anybody that's come here. I feel confident that when somebody comes in, my problems will go away. If somebody says, “Maybe we could do this,” then we set it up for a next appointment. So far, I've been satisfied with those points. American Home Shield is one of the best investments I made.

The person from Dan's Pro-Lock called me ahead in time and let me know that he'd be coming in at this point, and then gave me a heads up of how it would look like. That was helpful. I met him at the location on time. He also gave me a message about tracking where he was. It was done in 10 minutes. Overall, it was very efficient, simple to use, and great.

I like American Home Shield's service. I used them recently for an appliance issue then the tech went out there and did the diagnostic. He ordered the parts and installed them. He also told us that the fridge was going to start making ice within 24 hours, but it never did. So I called them back and they never answered. Then, I got on American Home Shield and I saw that they were going to close the case. So I went in there and put in that the problem was still not fixed. So they sent a technician out there and I don't know what did but after he went out there and reset the fridge, everything started working fine. With that, we had no problems and they did a good job.

When you buy new appliances, they always offer you an extended warranty and you have to pay $400 up to $500 for an extra for four years. But in having this insurance, I'll be saving all that money. Most of the time, I'll spend $500 on an extended warranty for five years, the plan will last six years, then the appliance breaks down and I don't have coverage anymore. But with AHS, I'm covered until forever, so I like it. And what I'm paying monthly is not so much. Other than that, submitting a claim with them is not that hard. I tried calling the first time and it was more hassle doing it over the phone. So I just submit everything online where you can even put the model number of the appliance.

Home Shield is always right on the spot. They get there immediately. When I had a refrigerator problem, the first guy came out and was kinda lost. I asked Home Shield if they could send somebody out that knew something more about it and he was there and fixed the refrigerator. It was great. So they've been really good. Fleshers Refrigeration is the best. This guy, Christian, got a guy who works with him, and these are the only two people I've met and they are top-notch. When my air conditioner went out in the first summer I was here, it was terrible but they were out and got it handled. Those are the guys that I have the very most confidence in.

The claims process was pretty easy. I'm an old guy, so I don't like the idea of talking to automated people. When I did it online instead of over the phone for the first time, the website said to choose and identify the problem. But there wasn't a choice that I could make that specifically hit the problem. I made one choice but it was wrong. It didn't turn out right. Then I made a second choice, and it did turn out to be right. But the website was not intuitive. It was counterintuitive to an old fart like me. But overall, American Home Shield is always Johnny-on-the-spot. It costs me 57 bucks a month and they've treated me right so far.

The technician that came out to repair was a very nice gentleman. He arrived at 10 o'clock as he said and he was usually done before 12. He did very well.

At first, I had a little problem getting my appointment set up. We had to cancel and by the time we got it resigned up and the proper card to use, everything was fine. The American Home Shield reps are trying really nice to me. But sometimes when I called for service for Home Shield, it was tough 'cause a lot of people didn't speak English very well. My wife and I can't hear worth a darn and I don't speak Arabic or anything else like that. So it will be difficult when we're dealing with an agent out of the country.

I always have to ask the American Home Shield reps to connect me to somebody I can understand. I don't wanna be offensive but when I talk to someone, we have to be able to communicate with one another. But it all worked out. We got the claim in and they connected me to somebody. The agent that set it all up spoke English very well. She got it all straightened out and she told me who was gonna come to take care of the problem. She gave me a number for the service. I have two separate contracts with American Home Shield. I've had them in my primary residence since we bought the house in 2004. Since things went so well with them, I also got a contract with them when I bought my cabin in 2016. It was a recreational cabin up in Shaver Lake. I had two service calls for the cabin. One was a plumbing issue and the other was for an electric hot water heater where the heating element went bad. My experience had been good up until the time I cancelled the contract because the cabin was burnt down in the creek fire. I called American Home Shield to cancel my contract because my cabin didn't exist anymore and I got charged a $45 cancellation fee.

In my primary residence, I’ve had a couple of things over the years where some of the experiences weren't as good as they could have been. But for the most part, I’ve been pretty satisfied. We had an electrical issue and placing the claim for it online was pretty easy. My wife said that the technician was very pleasant and he took care of the issue really quickly. The contractors that came out for our recent claim did a really good job. The issue was an outlet on the side of the house. However, American Home Shield declined it so I was not too happy about that. There are a couple of different clauses in the contract that I'm a part of, so there are conflicting statements. I was more disappointed that the contractors came out, did the service and then found out after the fact, instead of letting me know ahead of time that it wouldn't be covered so I had time to cancel it.

I've had a couple of claims with AHS so far. The rest have gone pretty smoothly. This was the first time I've had a conflict. We had a dishwasher claim where that was not working correctly, and the service tech came out a handful of times to troubleshoot the issue until he finally resolved it. The contractor was good. He finally figured it out. Before this last service visit, I was okay with AHS. But the customer service that's through the call center has been just awful every time I've tried to go through them. It's taken me half an hour to get through to any kind of customer service of AHS to file a claim or a service request. So that was why I tried the online system.

Central Ohio came out for a claim and they thought they had fixed the problem on the first trip. I also thought that they had. It seemed like the water pressure had gotten better and I was starting to get hot water. The tech said we needed to give it about a half-hour to make sure that there was no dripping. If we see any dripping or anything like that, we were to give him a callback. Half an hour went by and there was no dripping and I thought the shower was good. I went to turn on the water. It’s one of those one-handle faucets so the right side is cold and the left side hot. I barely cracked it and cold water should have been coming out but it immediately turned hot. I had to call the tech back and told him that I was only getting hot water.

He came back out to fix the problem again. He took an assessment downstairs where the plumbing is and said that the reason I was not getting pressure wasn't because of what was happening with the city. The city is giving me all the pressure. The problem was the volume because instead of having ¾-inch pipe, I have a ¼-inch pipe downstairs in the basement. He said that the pipe needed to be replaced. But he wasn't sure if it would be covered by my policy and that I should follow up with American Home Shield. I haven't had a chance to do that yet. But the plumber was able to at least fix what I initially called him out for so I'm happy with that. They were very nice people. I can get a shower although there's barely any water, it's at least working.

American Home Shield is fantastic. I went online, created my account, and it was really easy, I then immediately put in that I had a plumbing issue. Also, I wanted to get my locks re-keyed. The guy that came out and did the lock was fantastic. He did both the front door and back door. He did exactly what I asked of him and it was fantastic. I called him out the next day to fix my shed.

The contractors have been really great and helpful. Requesting for service has been simplified. I've done it online mostly and this last time, I called to reopen the plumbing issue. Ark La Flow Plumbing came out and they couldn't fix the problem right away with the faucet. There was something going on with the lines because they’re copper so it was like a buildup and it was slowing the flow of the water down for the hot water. American Home Shield has been beneficial. I am definitely more at ease that if something breaks, I can call them and it's just a flat $125 fee for them to come out. However, sometimes things happen and if they're not considered normal wear and tear, then I just wasted $125. It is a little frustrating, but it's understandable. Luckily, we haven't had to put in many claims at all.

We’ve only done the one for our hot water heater and the contractor was good. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. He informed us as to what could be the causes that these things happen, and sometimes they just happen. He explained to us what the solution was, what he was gonna do, and he was also able to answer all of our questions. It was nice. One time, I had to call American Home Shield and it sounded like the person that I had reached was from a foreign country. It was frustrating because they couldn't answer any of my questions. I’m retired and my wife's going to be retiring in a couple of years. We're up in years and we thank the Lord for American Home Shield. They do a good job and they treat us like family. We've never been disappointed. When we call and we have something wrong, AHS gets right on it. I tell my friends, people at the church, I wouldn't go without it. American Home Shield is the best thing we’ve ever had. If they can’t fix it, they replace it. I told my brother in Colorado he needs to get AHS too. I’d recommend everybody. I had a neighbor, an elderly lady and her husband passed away. She said her hot water heater went out. I told her about American Home Shield and I said they’re reasonable.

Everything went great when Greenway came for our recent claim with the washer. The guy fixed it right up and did a good job. He explained to me what he was doing. He showed me the part that he replaced and worked it. He got the washer on and made sure it worked properly. The contractor that came for the refrigerator also did a good job. He said there was a washer behind the refrigerator. I didn't know this, but he said they have three of them and one of them was messed up. That’s the thing I like about American Home Shield's contractors because they explain to you what they're doing. When they replace a part, they show you the old part and the new part.

We've had the washing machines for over 25 years. It belonged to my wife's mother. When she passed away, she had it for five years. When we moved here in 2001, we brought it in. It messed up and they were gonna replace it. I said, “No, we don't wanna replace it because the new ones just don’t do as good.” This is a Kenmore. But the contractor came in here and it took everything to get all out and replaced everything new. We couldn't be happier.

We also had our hot water heater claim. The contractors came in here said what they were gonna do. We got a little thing in the kitchen, a washing machine and dryer, and the hot water heater sits up on top. They moved the washing machine and the dryer. They put in the hot water heater, took the other one out, moved the appliances back in their place, hooked everything up and double-checked everything.

I was having a lapse of power. The AHS interface when submitting a claim is relatively simple and easy to navigate. Then the technician who came out was great. We had a good laugh after the fact, and all was well. All the contractors from American Home Shield that I've tried to deal with have been really good, professional and timely. They either solve the issue or pass it down to whoever needs to.

Our dishwasher was draining, but it had an error code on it. It would just stop the whole cycle, so there was a little bit of water that would be left in the bottom. There were no major leaks coming out, but it wouldn't continue. I did the request over the phone and it was straightforward. Avant Electronics Repair then came out and did a basic inspection first and they found a little bit of something in the drain. It's working fine now.

We also called about our water heater, and they will do everything possible to fix something before they replace it. If I call them after 30 days with the same issue, then I have to pay the fee again to have somebody come out. If it's just 30 days later and it's the same thing happening, I don't think that should be the case. For us, what we pay American Home Shield per month is worth it, especially with those high dollar things. That's even if we have to pay another fee 30 days later if they're going to replace the water heater eventually because of how much that costs.

So far, the contractors have all been timely. The Avant Electronics guy for the dishwasher put booties on. He had his mask on as well and he was clean while he did everything. With the plumber last fall, there were no masks at that time, but he didn't put booties on coming in from outside. I also had to ask him to stay to make sure that the water got hot because he was going to leave before he had checked. He should have known that.

I just moved into a new home. I didn't know the history of the home so I just wanted to make sure that it was operational, especially since we're getting ready to go into colder months and we get more rain and snow. C Mayes came out to look at my sump pump and to let me know that it was functioning properly. It's the first time I've had one, so I didn't know what to look for and how to test it and know if it was running correctly or not. I went online and pulled up my account with American Home Shield, and I selected sump pump. It asked what the specific problem is. I typed in that I just needed a check to make sure that it was running properly. It went through. I paid the little fee that goes with initiating a request, and that was it. It was easy.

The technician that came out was very professional. He was courteous. He answered all my questions. He told me things I didn't even know, like where my main water shut off valve was. If I had an issue with the sump pump like if it did backup, he told me to cut that off. He showed me how to kind of check the sump pump. He was very friendly, very kind, answered all my questions and a very professional young man. He didn't make any kind of a mess. He was very mindful of COVID procedures. He was masked up, which I appreciated. It was a very good, pleasant experience. He did what he had to do and then he was gone.

Home Shield sent me an email regarding the opportunity to have my furnace checked and cleaned for the winter. I took advantage of it and Rush Heating and Cooling was the company that they sent out. They were fantastic. The guy came in, made note of the fact that what he was there for. Came in with his vacuum, went down and vacuumed out the furnace. He showed me the work that he was doing, talked to me about the humidifier and that he couldn't do any service to it, but because it was attached to the furnace, I needed to get some service booked after that, which I appreciated. I just needed a filter.

Online, it does what it does. But if you talk to Home Shield on the phone, they're very regimented, and the fact that you always have to talk to somebody that seem like they are from another country is disturbing. I'm a United States citizen. I live in the United States. They went after my business here in the USA. But when you call and get these foreigners that seem to just give standard answers, "Yes, I appreciate your business," yada, yada, yada, that sometimes is frustrating and you never get anywhere other than them giving you the one-liners that I could get off a voice recording. In the end, they don't care about what your problem is.

I had a gas problem with a new stove. I didn't know. I said it was a stove problem. But then when the contractor came out and found out that it was a leak in the gas pipe, they said it was a plumbing problem. I had to pay again for the plumbing. It wound up I had to pay twice. Other than that, every time somebody has come out, they have been good. Home Shield is worth the fees I pay monthly. I have recommended Home Shield to people, one of which bought a building and expressed that they already got Home Shield. My daughters have homes and I have talked to them about it.

I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to anybody. I got someone out here two and a half weeks ago. The man told them I needed replacement but to this day, I have not heard back from them. My icebox has been out and I'm not happy with this at all. I pay every month to get this service but they do not give me the service that I deserve at all. There is not even a call to say what's going on. You call but you can't get anybody or they say it's still under review. You leave a message but you can't get anybody to call you back.

I've had American Home Shield for several years and I had another claim. My septic system went out and they couldn't find anyone to do the work. If I would find somebody then I could send them the bill. But I didn't get one penny back from them. I got two houses with them and we have a real estate company. They do that to our people too. They also send out technicians who are not even certified and who want me to pay them under the table to do things. The service is horrible and I'm very dissatisfied.

I had an issue with my showerhead in the shower room, a problem with my faucet in my kitchen, and a problem with my drain catcher in my guest bathroom.

Bestway Mechanical fixed all three. They did very good. I called those in and I talked with a computer. But when it has to do with appliance replacement, you can’t get through. You would wait too long so I always wind up having to do an email. It goes straight to wherever their drop box is, and you get a response back from the computer. They say they have received your email. And I assume they are working on it.

American Home Shield sends the small business people out. You don't get the five-star or whatever people. But sometimes, the small business people that come out are able to handle the scenario for you. But if something happens, and I can't get the people that they subcontract with for three or four days, I always go and call in my own technician, and just go ahead and pay for whatever needs to be repaired right and there. I've been dealing with American Home Shield for five years. I am still sticking with them. Take a chance on them. If you don't like them, you can always go to somewhere else.

The guy was very professional, well-dressed, came in, knew exactly what he was doing, easily identified the problem, had the parts there to fix it, fixed it in five minutes, had us up and running, and he was out and going. We went online and there was an ad that said, “Hey, we recommend you get your heating and air conditioning system serviced and checked out for the wintertime before you start using the heater.” So we signed up to get it done at both of our properties, and still not done. Every time we call American Home Shield, they say, “We're scheduling to have the people out, and they're on the schedule.” Then they would give us the service provider. We would call the service provider and they would say that we were not on their schedule and they won't come out.

We called American Home Shield back again, and they told us that that was the place and they would call them. They called them and they said we were good to go. We called that company back but they said we were not good to go. They told us that we were not on our schedule and that they didn't have an approved service. So then we had to cancel and start all over again. We've now done that six times and we've been charged six times, but we still have no one coming. We're at week four. We've put in about five hours of phone calls towards American Home Shield and still no call back or help.

When we had a pool service, the company that came out was brilliant. That service worked perfectly. I only talked to people over text and email, and then the company came out the very next day. They told me what was wrong with the pool and that they have the parts ordered up. They came back three days later and fixed it. Everything was done. It was like a textbook example of how American Home Shield should work. It was wonderful. But the home service for the heating and air conditioning has been the worst experience we've ever had with any kind of consumer support group. I would love a callback for that. Begged for my calls/interactions to be reviewed. NOTHING... I was told "my 4 year old son having cold food and drink is not AHS problem." Straight out of a agents mouth. I have been treated terribly. Lost ALL food and drink from the unit, have molded & damaged hardwoods from the leaky unit, had to take time off work, and also spend 6 hrs on the phone at work begging for help. (Yes, this is all true) I was told supervisors do not exist when asking to speak to someone with some clout.

Strangely, when it came time to renew my service I was called REPEATEDLY until I answered. I've been assigned 3 plus techs and none of them even called me. I've spent hundreds of hours on the phone.....yes, really. STILL NO HELP. I'm ashamed of myself for trusting AHS. This has left me scared. Wouldn't recommend AHS to ANYONE. Not even my worst enemy. That's how much I've suffered through this. Customer service? WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE?

Home Shield has been very helpful. They followed up when I first did my claim and made sure I understood what my policy was and how to use it. That was more than I could ask. I had a claim when my water heater was not functioning and the rep told me when it was assigned. Air Pro Master came out and they were good.

I do my claims online and then there was an advertisement when I logged in stating heating and cooling special for winter tune-ups was for 75 bucks per unit. So I clicked on that and then they assigned the service request to the technicians. It went to the same technician I had this last year. Weathervane Heating and Cooling called me pretty soon after that and we scheduled it. Then they came out to do the service and they did a good job. I also used them last year for the pre-winter checks. The same technician came out. He knows my house and he knew what to look for. He pointed out a few things and they said everything was in good, working order. They told us to keep an eye on a few things. It went fine.

I have another claim for air conditioning service. I was a little bit surprised that American Home Shield didn't schedule it with the same people that did the furnace work. They scheduled it with a different place. But heating and AC are tied together. So it was a little bit disconnected because the whole system is typically integrated. But Detroit Heating and Cooling, who was looking at the air conditioning, were fine. They were doing a good job. The guy came out and took some readings, and he was trying to figure out which side of the coil that the Freon leak is on. He put a gauge system in the system so he can tell which side the leak is on. He did that a couple of weeks ago and he came out and checked it last week. He charged it up again and he is gonna watch it for a couple of more weeks before he makes the final recommendation. So the claim is still open.

It was very easy to sign up with American Home Shield. It was very easy to put my automated credit card info in there. When you put in a service ticket, it gets assigned right away and usually, you get a text message from AHS that it's being assigned. Then the follow-up from whoever it goes to happens within 24 hours as well, so they can schedule with you. So it's been pretty easy and seamless to use. It makes it very user-friendly to get the service you need in a timely manner.

Having the home warranty, we don't have to go out or do anything, except make a call, and the repairman will show up. When our dryer went out, the guy came to look at it. He said he ordered some parts, but he forgot to them then he forgot that he came here. He should've remembered that he came. When he came back, he remembered and got all the parts ordered, and everything worked out perfect.

The guy who came out for my garbage disposal claim is very knowledgeable. I liked the way he worked. He's very professional and he goes over and beyond. But he really didn't wanna replace the garbage disposal. He was telling me that I didn't need a new one and it was the switch and I needed an electrician. So, the electrician came out. There was something to the switch. It worked for two days. But now, nothing works again. It's irritating. I don't wanna have shortcuts and I need the garbage disposal fixed. I already paid for the deductible. So, if it needs a new disposal, just put it in.

Since the contractor didn’t come out and fix it right the first time, American Home Shield should send somebody completely different out because sometimes a second opinion would help better. You wouldn't know if they wanted to shortcut it first and didn't wanna do the labor to replace it, or if they really didn't know what they were talking about. Other than that, American Home Shield has really listened to me.

But he had to turn the water off in the sink upstairs right over the kitchen where the leak was and when I went to turn the water on in my bathroom, it wouldn't come on. I called AHS and they said I had let too much time go by and I have to put in another request. Other than that, I have been completely satisfied with AHS. Usually, everything is done in a timely manner and it is repaired or replaced.

BA Distributing came out for my dishwasher that isn't working. I had a dishwasher that went out in July, and we just got it replaced because Home Shield couldn't find the parts. And then I had a microwave that went out. That took two months to get parts for and get it repaired. It has been a nightmare. I would like to not be on hold if you have something that does not fit under the drop down menu online and it's something that you have to discuss with them. For instance, I have two commodes that have an issue. Something like that, you can't put on there. You have to call and then it's an over an hour wait. And then if you do have a claim, you're told that you really can't get any help from a supervisor or someone in management because they're working from home and they don't have the supervisor’s phone number so they can't reach out to someone to help settle the claim. You have to end up going, like I did, to the Better Business Bureau because you can't get satisfaction taken care of there at Home Shield.

The contractors said that they sent the authorizations out and told Home Shield that they needed this or that part, and it seems like the ball was dropped with Home Shield. And then they put it on the vendor saying, “Well, the vendor has not sent us any paperwork.” And then I got all three of them on the phone with a 3-way call and it was both them on the phone at the same time. And the vendor was like, “I have the dates and times here that we sent the authorizations over, and w ha've never heard back from Home Shield.” I don't know if it's the COVID, but I used to get timely, prompt, good service. I recommended it to my new homeowners' friends, but now I wouldn't because the service has taken a big decline.

It fit what I wanted and what I could afford.

Home Shield seems to be very easy to work with and very prompt in handling my problems so I'm very happy with them. I called them when my refrigerator was warming up and everything was melting in the freezer. Their claim process was fine and it was very easy. Within 24 hours, Call A Roddy Maintenance was assigned to my claim and they were supposed to call me. They were great and their tech worked on my refrigerator. Since his work, my refrigerator is cooling and hopefully, it will continue to do so. Hopefully, the freezer won't frost up like it did in the back.

I put in a request through the website when my dryer stopped heating. It was a little confusing because since I did this last, the policy has changed on where American Home Shield takes the payment. You put the payment up front and I was a little wary of that, but then I realized that they had changed the policy and why they changed it. That was the only hang up I had. Otherwise, submitting the claim was rather easy to do. The website told me who was coming out and I was very pleased.

Care Appliance Repair called at 9 o'clock the next morning and they had somebody out that day. It was a very quick turnaround time. Since we are in semi-lockdown, they wore masks. I told the guys what the problem was and they fixed it. The issue turned out to be a heating element. The guys ran the dryer and said, “It's fixed. You wanna look?” They got in and out, and they were very professional. My dryer's been working wonderfully ever since.

My hot water heater went out, so I didn't have any hot water. I called it in and American Home Shield was gonna send out someone that I had a bad experience with in the past. They falsified statements on the paperwork and while they were here, I checked behind them and the job that they were supposed to have done wasn't done. I called American Home Shield, while that contractor was still in my house, and the woman told me to stop him from going. I say, "Well, how in the world do you think I'm gonna hold this man against his will? He says he's finished and he's going." Nothing changed since he came out here and did his work. The man left, and I was stuck out and had to get another plumber that I paid for myself.

I was very upset, so I stopped their service and used another home warranty company for three years. Back to my recent claim, I asked American Home Shield not to send that company out anymore and I was appalled when they said that they didn't have anybody else to send. I said, "I couldn't believe that as much as you advertised, what have you, you don't have a one plumber in this area that you can send out." They didn't send the one I had before and eventually, they reached out to someone else. That other company sent someone out and for what he did, he was good.

When the guy came out, he told me the thing was wrong and that the codes have changed. I told him that I hadn't had that hot water heater installed that long ago, and he said, "I know, but the codes have changed and we can't touch it unless we do this, that, and others." I wound up having to pay out my pocket again for him to put a drip leg on my hot water heater. There were also other things where you would have to be like an attorney to read all the fine print. I haven't gotten my contract yet, but he said one of the items that I had was not covered 'cause that was outside of my house.

I told him that it was coming through a wall out of my utility room and he said no, that it was considered outside my foundation. I said, "But it's coming through the wall, out of the utility room where the washer is, where water's going in along with the washer that's coming out this way to this faucet." He said, "No, that's not covered." and then I had to go through all this stuff where something was not covered or it was something else. It's always a learning curve when they come out. There are some things you know, but there's always a fine print. I asked what would it cost to put the turn handle on the faucet that comes out in that room and he said, "$200." That has been my experience. $200 is just for putting the knob that you turn on. I have to save up for later.

I'm just surprised. You would think they would try some of the well-known companies, but maybe they're too expensive for them to hire. I remember the day and time several years back when they used to send out ARS or somebody well-known. Now these are lesser-known companies, so you have to read up on them and do your little homework. You also have to know the contract very well. You have to know what they consider maintenance. The problem with having a house is you're always gonna have repairs. You understand that and you would hope that having a home warranty will give you some peace of mind, but it doesn't.

When American Home Shield started out, they were good, but over the years, they've gotten bad. They don't always do what they say they're gonna do no matter what's in the contract. It has not been a good experience for me. If I knew plumbers, different craftsmen and technicians, I would prefer reaching out to them on my own, but I don't have the time to call for an appointment.

Ralphs Plumbing, the contractor, is coming back out to do the toilet a second time at no charge. Apparently, it has a second problem with it but they also replaced the valves for the washer and dryer where I had a leak behind the wall, and they did a great job. And it was only one $80 fee for both. Sears came out and fixed the dishwasher and the dryer that quit working. It was one $80 fee. We didn't have to pay another penny out of our pocket. It was the same thing with the electrician. He fixed two lights that weren't working in the home for us for just one $80 fee. Usually, you overlook a repair because you're thinking it's gonna be hundreds of dollars. But since we knew it was only gonna be the 80 bucks, we called and got it fixed, which saved us more problems down the road.

We always had our central heat and air checked twice a year in Florida before we moved here to Arkansas. I called AHS and asked them if they had a discounted rate for regular maintenance and for the central heat to get it checked out as well as the air in the fall like we always do. To make sure the AC is working right before the hot months get there, we were able to get the discounted rate of 80 bucks for them to come out and service the central unit. It's usually $150. So it even saves us money on regular maintenance that you have to get done. But I'd love it if they started covering fireplaces.

You watch the commercials and you're always thinking that there's a catch or there are hidden fees. I wouldn't have gotten American Home Shield if I didn't get it with the sale of a house. Buying a new house, you got all your money into the down payment and the move to the new house. You can't afford a bunch of repairs when you move in. The house was vacant for two years before we moved in and as the repairmen who came out here to make the repairs told me, you gotta count on seals, gaskets and belts drying out and cracking to where once you start using them, they're just gonna break. I didn't know that and I wouldn't have had the money to make all these repairs from the house if I didn't have American Home Shield. It was just 80, 80, 80 and everything's covered.

Now that I’ve seen that it's legit, I'm keeping them. It's a lot cheaper to pay 80 a month or $800 a year than it is to all of a sudden have to pay, like I've had in the past, 1200 for refrigerator or 600 for a washer or dryer or stop using one bathroom for a while because you know it's gonna be a couple hundred to get it fixed. Everybody just uses the other bathroom till you can get the money up to fix the one. We're very happy and I am thoroughly impressed. As long as AHS doesn't change anything, they’ve got a lifelong customer with us.

A&B Plumbing came out for a claim and that was a good experience. But I had problems with the company in Atlanta that AHS sent. There was a problem with the hot water heater. They had a storm in Atlanta, where the lights were out. My sister had no hot water and she has no lights. The company that came out said that they had to order a little switch. It was a $10 switch that had gone bad. They were not gonna put our new water heater in but they were gonna make my sister can't have a bath for seven days. It was cold and she has a baby. I'm not a happy camper right now.

Also, AHS needs to do better as far as setting up the appointment, being specific as to what the customer is requesting, and being able to contact them when things are not going in the manner that they should. The only time you get someone in the United States is when you're putting money in AHS' pocket. But every time you call with a problem, you get the Philippines. I don't have any problem with the Philippines. I lived there five years. But when I can't get the service that I'm requesting, that's a problem. When I can't get a resolution to the problem and I wanna escalate to talk to someone who can make a decision, I can't do that with the Philippine group.

AHS has a setup. They're outsourcing and they are really not thinking about the customer. They are thinking about the cheap labor that they have you talking to someone in the Philippines. I'm not pleased. I'm quite sure AHS has a lot of customers. They need to get some managers in place in the United States. You should be able to talk to someone at a higher level than the Philippines when you are dealing with your problems right here in the United States. If you get the Philippines, you're on the phone five hours waiting for someone a little higher. They say, “I'm sorry, we can't escalate the call any higher because we can do the same thing that you can get in the United States.” That's the problem. I had three experiences where when I called in, I got the same results every time.

But Lone Star Water Services have been real good. Their office staff is good and their field crews are knowledgeable. The warranty companies that AHS has sent out have to try to fix the issue first and they get authorization for replacement. It's a little bit of a pain. I had a clogged sink and the first guy that American Home Shield sent didn’t go far enough in there and he wound up telling me that the only way we were going to get it done was to go off on the roof of my house and do a power blast to get it free. For some reason, they wouldn’t do it through AHS and they gave me an estimate of $1700 to do it. The second guy came out, did his job and was out of here in 30 minutes.

AHS sends people out who doesn’t know what they’re doing. I had to go through four guys before some guy came out and said that they needed to replace my washer. That went on for three weeks and then, they had to order a washer and it took two weeks to get it. So, I've been less than happy in the past. I had a service call on my air conditioner that has been under warranty with AHS. They replaced it once and the one they replaced it with was giving some signs of failing. They went on to tell me that I had to replace my coil set. The one that they put in wasn't the right size and that was going to be several hundred dollars. AHS replaced it and used the one that was originally here on the replacement unit. When it started ticking the circuit breaker and I called them out, they said that they would do that, but I’m gonna have to pay a couple of grand to replace that line.

I have two houses now and they both have AHS. On the other one, the lady had a problem with her garbage disposal so they said it needed to be replaced. She's an 86-year-old widow. They sent a guy out and he said that he thought it was a plug-in and this one needed to be wired in. You can cut the cord off and strip the wires back, and that does it. But he had to come out a second time to do it. He called up all of a sudden and said one day that they were going to come out and do it. I was fighting with AHS and asking them why they were sending somebody out who looks under the sink, orders a garbage disposal, and says he thought it was a plugin. I've never heard anybody using a garbage disposal that's plugged in a wall socket under a sink.

A-US came and looked at everything. They said the unit was okay and it seems to be working right now. However, it's very difficult to get somebody to come out here on a non-work hour time frame so I had somebody else here. I wish the hours would be so I could be here and find out what the issues were. But that doesn't work out because I work until 5pm at night and all these other people want to do it at their time frame. And then I would have to take a vacation leave plus be charged money for the tech to come and do it. It's very difficult to try and fix these things.

And then for somebody to tell us, “Well, we'll be there sometime between 8:00 and 9:00.” So then, if I had to go to take off work, because it takes me 45 minutes to get from my work to my house, I would have to say, not go in at all. Let's say they show up at 11:30. I have wasted an entire half a day. There has to be a better way to schedule things. Tell me, "I'm gonna be here at 9:00 a.m." or "I'm going to be there at 10:00 a.m." "I'm gonna be here at" whatever. Don't give me a four-hour or five-hour window that you're gonna be there. That's not fair to the homeowner to be charged that. That is frustrating.

If people had an issue that they wanted done, don't you think they would like to have a better communication or a better time frame? It's unfair for me on top of having to pay for somebody to come out there to take leave, or if I didn't have leave, take leave without pay because they couldn't give me a time frame of when they would be there. The only thing I got was there was a phone call that said, “I'll be there in 25 minutes.”

The customer service rep from American Home Shield was supposed to be redoing it. I'm gonna have to find out what's the size on that dryer because it can't be 27 inches all the way around. I'm gonna need a smaller size so it can turn to the side and go into my basement.

The two guys that brought the washing machine out yesterday were excellent. They checked everything out and they told me what size I needed to get. But I was on the phone with the company for a long time and I never got through so I’m gonna have to call back again today. The call time to get to the people from AHS is long as well as the call time to get to the people to set up the appliance. You’re sitting there waiting and nobody is doing anything. It’s a little stressful. They need to answer the phones. It drains my telephone. When I look, the phone is beeping and I gotta change from that phone and get another one. I hadn’t even called today. Yesterday and the other days were long enough. Also, they need to contact you and let you know that the people are coming out. They should not just show up because they don't know the previous engagements that I have. But the guys who came out to do the furnace today was good.

The dryer was was running, but it wasn't drying anything because the heating element had broken. The contractor was very quick. They texted me to ask me what kind of appliance it was. I responded and then they came out the next day. They wanted to make sure they were able to service that kind of appliance. It took 30 minutes tops for the guy to fix it. It was pretty quick and pretty standard. I was happy with it. I've used Home Shield for a few things already and the people that they contract are usually pretty good.

When I called in this time, I had to use the automated system and the claim went through right away. So whatever automated system they put in place is a pretty big improvement. The only thing that I've noticed after using them for so many years that they do cycle through contractors a lot. But it doesn't really impact us because as long as we put in the requests and somebody comes out and fixes it, it's really nonimportance to me who it is.

We used to have Home Shield of America and I found out that American Home Shield, which is the same company is cheaper. So it was the same company, two different names, but one is more expensive than the other. They really have to get rid of that. They were potentially charging me more by using their sister company. When I switched over, I was paying less. Even though there has been a year over year increase, which I'm not overly happy about, I understand that it's the cost of doing business. But they should align their pricing across the board and market it better.

We see the home warranty as more of an investment. We've kept it for so long because in the first month of us living here, our AC broke and it would have been $8,000 to change the unit, but instead it was only $75. We pay for the policy $800 a year. But if a big appliance ever breaks, I know that I can get it replaced or fixed. So it's a good thing. A lot of people have a misconception about what is covered. Because one of my neighbor said it doesn't really cover anything. But it covered all of our appliances. It doesn't cover plumbing but that's where you have homeowners insurance for.

So far, American Home Shield is as expected. I made a phone call for the refrigerator that didn't work. The guy was great but they didn’t do repair as they gave me a cash option which I took. Everything went according to the agreement.

I definitely recommend American Home Shield. When I called a claim for a stove to them, it was fairly simple. The wait time was excessive though. The tech was here twice. Right now, the stove is flawless. We also had another claim for our rental's dishwasher in Arizona. There was miscommunication on what the problem was. We put a request in to have the dishwasher looked at but the problem ended up being the garbage disposal.

The water heater was overflowing into a valve on our porch. The claim submission for it was very simple. A technician came and saw the issue. Apparently, there was a bad valve so he fixed it.

My garbage disposal was clogged. I went online and paid the $75 fee, and the next day, the contractor called me and set up an appointment to come out. It was that simple. The contractor came out after two days. They were nice and friendly. When the guy was done, he came and showed me that it wasn't backing up anymore. He cleared it all out. He was very knowledgeable and professional. I also had problems with my dishwasher and furnace before and they were fixed right away. I've never had any issues and I'll keep using American Home Shield.

I went online to submit my electrical claim. I have been having trouble calling in, which has been problematic. But sometimes, what I tried to do online doesn't really fit what I'm trying to do. It's easier to do online if the category is there, but it has happened that the category is not one of the options that I can click. The electrician that came out was good. I have interacted with him before. He know where the house was. So it was pretty easy. It has been working good since the service. But when I had a problem with the vacuum, AHS sent an electrician, and then the electrician closed the request, but it wasn't really fixed. So I had to call and wait a long time, and that was very frustrating. But overall, AHS has been okay. It's worth it for protecting against unforeseen things.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for 13 years, so I've had a lot of work done by them. Typically, the process is good. Within 24 hours, I have a contractor scheduled to come take care of any problems we have. Sometimes, it takes longer, but it depends on the amount of money the claim has been. I've had my heat and air replaced and some extensive gas line repair done. Those things took a little longer, but the cost was more on them, so they had to go through the chains to get the amount approved. When it has been an emergency, they've even allowed me to contact and pay my own contractor, and then they reimburse me. During COVID, the response time has been a little slower, but for the most part, they've been good.

The contractors are great. If they said they're gonna be there at a certain time, they are always within reason on when they show up. I've never had anybody come in and make a mess that they didn't clean up after themselves. Recently, Vermillion Plumbing came out and unclogged a drain. They had to use a roto-rooter and get some tree roots out of our sewer line. The other day, I added up what I have spent paying for the warranty every year, the co-pays that I've paid over the years, the repairs and the cost that they would have cost me had I not had the warranty, and I am far and above ahead of what I would have spent out of my own pocket had I not had the warranty.

There was a leak in the gas line so PG&E come out and capped it off. A claim was made with American Home Shield online and the process was fine. Salyers Heat and Air called that afternoon and showed up the next morning. The tech was okay and he had to do a replacement. I had another claim before where a plumber came out because there was a leak out in the back.

Our recent claim with AHS went very well. National Platinum came in here and looked at what I needed. I needed a replacement part and about a week later, they came back and put it in. So far, American Home Shield has been fine. I like it. It's convenient for me. When something has been wrong, I've called up and the contractors have come out and they fixed it, and I've been very much satisfied.

AHS has always lived up to what we expected them to do as far as caring for our appliances and things of that nature.

Our AC was not coming on. It was a totally blank screen. Automatic Control was sent out and the technician has been the one who's been coming over since we've been living in this house from day one. He saw the problem and fixed it. It took two batteries to make it work again. I had, fortunately, two AA batteries that I gave him. He replaced them and set the thermostat, and as of this morning, it's working okay. He has the same personality that he always had since he first came over. He even offered to put bleach in the pipes of the air conditioning unit, which we do monthly, so it wasn't necessary but it was very nice of him to offer.
