Our experience with AHS has been better than when I had it before. They're a lot quicker and they're handling things a lot better than they were. When I first got the house, we waited the entire summer for the ducts to get fixed. We had no air conditioning and it was just miserable. It was nothing but calling in, waiting on hold for two hours, nothing being done. I begged the contractor. I don't think he did what he said he did underneath the house 'cause he didn't bring the proper material. There should've been a follow up because there was a lot of complaints about his company. It took at least a year to get that completed. The reason that it took so long, they finally hired another company, and when the guy went down there, he said nothing was done. But I just had a plumbing service call recently and the plumbing has been very reliable.

There was water leaking from our ceiling on the main level and I had water spots all over my ceiling. I called AHS to let them know that and the claims process was pretty easy. But holding on the phone and waiting for someone to get to servicing me was the longest part. I was on hold for over 30 minutes, then I had to keep calling back. Then, they told me who they were sending my request over to and when I should be expecting a call from them. And when the guy from Performance Plumbing came out, he did a great job. He was really knowledgeable in his job and he was polite. So, that was a plus. But a couple of days after he came out, I had to call because the water started leaking again. The tech took care of it and he was really sweet. He did his job and now, there's no leakage. I would also recommend for others to call and get the service with AHS.

I’ve had PJ Appliance come several times here and I wasn't ready in terms of unplugging my refrigerator like I should, but they’ve been working with me and very courteous with me. They keep me well-informed and they’ve done a good job on the on-time appointment and the flexibility. Today, more parts had to be ordered but I’m okay with that. The claim has been open about three weeks but it has been extended out a lot because I wasn't ready to have the repair completed. American Home Shield’s service is very beneficial to me. I have used it several times and it always comes through. I've only had one issue where they didn't cover the item but it was because I did not get it authorized. I went outside the service area.

The tech from Vail was doing the heater check-up and he found that one of the capacitors was not 100%. It was well on its way to becoming bad so he replaced it. Everything was fine with this claim but it was not that great of an experience with the plumbing guy from Taz. If I have any more plumbing issues, I don’t want them. Still, people should get the American Home Shield warranty. My mom owns the travel trailer that she lives in and I don’t know if AHS covers travel trailers, if it's almost permanently set but I told her that she should probably look into getting the warranty. When things happen, it’ll be covered and she will be able to care of it without having to spend a whole lot of money.

There were some exposed wires in my basement that were touching a metal rod and it was causing sparks. The technician GJC Electric came out and he was able to secure the wire that was hanging and separate it so that it no longer touched the sparking spot. There were also some other things I showed him in my recommended home inspections report that he said was not covered, but he dealt with the problem at hand, and I was fine with that. Everything's good. The claims process was okay for the electrical work, but I still have an outstanding claim with American Home Shield.

The first time I had a claim was really tough. It took from August to November to get a new washing machine. But when the dishwasher wasn't getting the dishes clean, the rep was very friendly and knowledgeable. He informed me that it wasn't a dishwasher problem so much as like a hard water problem. So he gave me suggestions of what I could do in the meantime while I was waiting to get the water softener fixed. The claim before the dishwasher was pretty awful. But I've spoken with a few people about it and it's been resolved.

We had a couple of issues with the range. The self-cleaning would not work and two of the stovetop ovens wouldn't stay consistent as far as temperature. The gentleman from David Swann and his apprentice ran some checks on it and told us what they determined what was wrong. They were very professional. They knew what they were doing and their troubleshooting was exemplary. The range was almost 12 years old and we were up to almost $800 in the repairs. So, we had a choice between getting the repairs or doing a cash-out. So, we went with the cash-out. It was a little bit less than the repair cost. But with what little money we had to put out, we went and picked a better range unit.

It shouldn't be a big deal whether you call a claim with American Home Shield in or you submit it online. But when you talk to a person on a phone, they're following a script. My wife did most of the talking with them and she was telling me that there was some confusion in communication when talking to them. And when I called in, there always seems to be a language barrier. So it's easier if you submit claims with American Home Shield online.

Everything went great with our recent claim with AHS for our AC. We turned the claim in on a weekend. Monday morning the tech called and he came. I called them before he came out because we got it to come on by doing the reset buttons and flipping the breaker on and off. He serviced the unit and looked at it. He said, "It's not doing it. I can't tell what's wrong with it. But if it's going to happen again, hit the reset button.” He took it all apart, put a little lube where it needed to be and did a few things. He said it's covered for 60 days. They'll come back out if anything happens to it. If it's over 60 days, we'll do another service call. We hadn't had any cold nights since then. He was really nice and courteous. I liked him.

Ace's Garage Door Repair came out for a rental unit that we own. The tenants reported to the property manager that the garage door was malfunctioning. So the property manager notified American Home Shield. They sent out someone from Ace's Garage. He said that about three different lots of parts needed replacing. They’ve worn out and they aren't covered under American Home Shield. I went ahead and paid the bill myself. I understand that it's normal wear and tear. But the thing that annoys me was I was told that there wouldn't be a service charge. American Home Shield sent me a bill for the $75 service fee. The first time I called, I spoke to somebody who said, "Oh, once we sent the technician, we can't waive the fee." I asked to speak to the supervisor. He spoke to the supervisor and brought back a message. The supervisor said the same thing. I said, "Well, I'd like to speak to him myself."

I spoke to a supervisor who told me the same thing. I was told if I could get ahold of Ace's Garage Door Repair, and then if they contacted American Home Shield and said that they waived the charge, then I could probably get it waived. I left a message for the garage door company. They never returned it. I called again the following day and spoke to a different customer service representative who told me the same thing that they can't rescind the fee. I said, "Well, then I wanna cancel my policy." I figured if I can do it once, they can do it again. Somebody else called me from customer retainment but I was still in bed. So I returned the call and spoke to somebody and said that they'd removed the $75 fee. I said, "Well, I want to go ahead and close out my account." So she did that for me.

I don't think that they should have charged me $75 service fee when they were never billed for it. Apparently, Ace's Garage Door sent them an invoice for $375. They denied the claim. I paid the $375. I don't understand why I was billed for a $75 service fee and then told that it was impossible to remove the charge. I had a problem with the time I have to spend getting the fee removed. I looked up ratings for American Home Shield, and I read that there are over 14,000 complaints registered with the Better Business Bureau. It's a waste of money. We've had it since we bought the unit. I already paid my $600 premium for the year. We've never called them until the garage door. We're in the position where if one of the appliances needs replacing, we can afford to do it. In fact, with $600, you could buy a new stove.

I'm so glad that I got American Home Shield and I have been telling other people that I know and friends of mine that own homes that they would need to get AHS. My wife and I bought a house and the heater wasn't working very well. It kept shutting off and I couldn't understand why. But I thought about not calling AHS because I thought that they would think that we were gonna abuse them because we just got this program. Then about the third day that it was cold, I didn't care what they would think and just called them. The lady that I talked to was really nice.

The lady from the company called me and said that they got people that were working hard. The cold snap brought in a lot of problems with furnaces and water heaters and they would be out here as soon as possible. Later that afternoon, she called and said that one of their workers lives out towards me. It was at the end of the day but he got another hour on his way home and she asked if he could stop by and look at the problem. The guy came by, figured out what was wrong with the heater within 15 minutes and he fixed it within another 15 minutes. Not only that, the guy was really cool, nice, very professional and social. My wife and I really enjoyed the whole experience. It has just been awesome and I've been so thankful that they are there.

The part that the guy changed out was a $200 part. I asked him how much they would charge just to come out and look at something and he said that they usually would charge 100 bucks. So, potentially this whole thing could have cost me $300. But instead, I only paid $100 to American Home Shield as the service fee and that was it. I saved $200 just on that. Next month, I'm going to take it a little bit further and put my appliances on American Home Shield as well just in case something might happen.

That was kind of a pain. Other than that, it's been really good. It's pretty nice having designated subcontractors, like another layer of protection. And it's nice insurance for unexpected things, especially since my property is a fourplex and it seems to get a lot of use from its tenants. Things break quite regularly.

We moved in October 13th of this year. Our garbage disposal was doing pretty fine the first couple of weeks. Just recently, we started to get some blockage in the line. So, every time we would run the garbage disposal or even run water in the sink to clean the sink out and create fresh dishwater ourselves, both sides of the sink would back up. I would think, "Let me run the garbage disposal. It’d possibly just flush itself out." Not only was it not flushing down, but it was flushing into the washing machine line. Thank God, we just got our washing machines installed the day after the plumbers came. So, that was a blessing to us. And it was coming right back up into the sink as well as the pipes underneath began to loosen up. So, we didn't really have control over anything at the sink at that point. So, I contacted Home Shield and right away, they directed our work order to Shields Plumbing themselves.

The technician was Michael. He was very knowledgeable of what my concerns were and how to resolve the issue, and he came in a timely manner. As a matter of fact, he pulled up the same time I pulled up because I was working that day. He was very friendly. The piping looks great. I haven't had any issues since and we enjoy what we have going on right now. It was a great experience.

I'm a millennial, so I like to do everything online. So, the service request and everything online, the platform itself was very great. There are constant emails of updates on where my service was routed to, if the technician got the service order and the ETA. Everything was really good. Don't be cheap because eventually you'll need the service. I know a lot of people like to take away certain things that they don't think they'll need as homeowners. But rest assured, it will all come in handy sooner than later. We didn't think our garbage disposal would act up as soon as it did within us moving in a month ago, but it happened to act up. So, don't be cheap. Get the service. And if you need the service, definitely use it.

When I bought this house, the real estate agent gave me five brochures to look over. I read all of them and American Home Shield sounded better for me than the other ones. I liked the things that I read on there. I started googling some reviews about them and saw some good ones so I decided to go with them. I've called them twice for two separate occasions and I like their process. It was really simple. I did it online then they sent me an email saying they were gonna find a contractor. Right away, the contractor called me that same day and set up an appointment with me. Before he came, I got an email saying he was on his way. It went really well. The person came over and did the job.

The second time, I was having more of an issue. My dryer was broken and they sent somebody out. I had to call the contractor because he didn’t even call me to schedule an appointment then the work wasn’t done right. He didn't fix it. I called them so they sent him out the second time. But the second time, they said that the guy that came out isn't the one that does the work and I would have to call American Home Shield to figure out who could come out.

I did call them on Friday and what the guy said was that he couldn't get me the answers. I had called him too early and the guy that came and did the work hadn't turned in a report yet. He called the guy that came out to do the work. He told me what was going on and he said he's going to get the report to me today. He said, "We'll call you back within 24 hours,” which to me is Saturday. He didn't call me back Saturday or Sunday or today. I still haven't heard anything back and we’ve been without a dryer for three weeks now.

I submitted a claim with AHS because I had two leaky toilets. One was leaking from the tank and one was leaking from underneath. The gentleman I talked with was very helpful, said he got it approved for it to be an expedited work order. But the email wasn't sent to the company, Ambition Plumbing, so they did not know it was supposed to be expedited. They said they called AHS and told them that they needed the email and they didn't get the email. The techs were very professional. They wore a mask and they also covered their shoes with protectors. I was satisfied with AHS. I would recommend them.

American Home Shield had an offer to take a look at my heater to spruce it up for the winter. This was more preventative so there wasn’t anything broken. I asked the technician if the heater is still good and I was told things are fine and that I didn’t need to buy a new one. The technician was informative, professional, easy and told me what they needed to tell me. I had a claim with AHS where something was broken and the technician came out, found the problem, replaced the appliance that day and 20 minutes after, got it up and running. The experience with AHS has been pleasant so far.

The tech from Absolute Comfort was excellent and very professional. He pointed out that the fan speed was set wrong for the furnace and took care of that. Every time I call, I'm put on hold, and I just don't have time. So, I keep contacting them. Also, when I call American Home Shield, I'm put on hold, and I press 1 to get them to call me back. Then somebody calls me back, but they can’t really speak English. It's very frustrating where I almost gave up. But I previously had AHS before and they are a good company. This might have just been a hiccup to where they chose the wrong contractor.

Everyday Heating and Cooling came to do an overall check-up of my heating system. They contacted me to tell me ahead of time that they were on their way and they arrived very promptly. They checked my thermostat and carbon monoxide levels and an overall check-up. They were here about 15 minutes and left. I did not request that they take precautions due to the pandemic but I was really surprised that they didn't show up wearing masks. Other than that, I was very pleased.

AHS is wonderful and I love it. There's a lot of things I'm not able to take care of myself and it's very reassuring to know that I can just go online, make an appointment, and have experts take care of my issues for me. I was kind of disappointed to realize that there was something not covered under my current level of plan so I probably need to upgrade but that's not any fault of American Home Shield. The air conditioner was not cooling the home. Aerify came out and did the service. They overcharged on simple services that I could have done for $8 versus 300 and some dollars. It made me question whether I should have Home Shield as a warranty service rather than just paying out-of-pocket when something goes wrong.

I was satisfied that my air conditioner is working now and with the entire process from filing the claim to getting it done. However, it took too long to find the part to have it done. This was done in the middle of September when it was hot for San Diego and it didn't get rectified till two weeks ago. Then, Home Shield choose the company that is not only getting paid by them, but getting paid by myself to make silly changes to put a piece of foam over an insulation line and charge $300 and I have a roll of that stuff that I bought for $20. I had to keep calling up the service company for follow-ups, and they were referencing Home Shield as the reason why the process was going slow. It would have been nice to have feedback from the warranty company either to receive an email or phone call or even a text saying that they're still looking for the part or that they haven't forgotten about me.

American Home Shield made me work with Aerify person-to-person. It seems like the warranty service is the third-party, which shouldn't be. It's just like hiring my uncle to find me somebody that will fix my part and that’s basically what American Home Shield is right now. Now, I have the money, and it's making me wonder why I pay $50, $60 a month for American Home Shield. Me and my wife talked about it and we would probably drop Home Shield next month because of this whole issue with the damn air conditioner.

We had an issue with our HVAC unit and it took a little while, but our experience was still good.

Submitting the claim was easy. My wife called the number on Thursday and submitted the claim. Then, the company got back with us really quick. But they were so booked up, so they couldn't get anybody out there for a couple of days. It wasn't until Monday that they could get somebody out there. Then, it was another four days before they could get the parts in and get it fixed. But besides that, the company that they sent out was very good and they took care of the issue. So, with us having the service, we're happy. I feel really good about AHS and we like the service. I've also recommended them to quite a few people. However, This past week I had an issue with a Water Heater on one of the properties. We have replaced other water heaters with AHS on other properties and have always had a seamless experience, however, this time did not prove to be the same. The technician came to examine the water heater and then presented me with $800 out of pocket fees that AHS would not cover. Not only did AHS not allow for a second opinion they only offered that we either take this technician and pay the $800 replace the water heater or take a cash out of $517, which wouldn't even cover the funds to purchase a new water heater.

Bottom line it will either cost me $800 or more to have my water heater replaced. I have replaced others in the past and the most I paid out of pocket was $250 for possible permits or valves not covered. It is not fair that the technician they are using is forcing me to pay $800 for valves, permits and other ridiculously overpriced items. This is either a scam where AHS is getting a payback from the technician or this all does not make any sense. Severely disappointed with professionalism and customer service offered.

There was a problem with the main electrical fuse box, the south side of the house. That was taken care of by both the A & R and American Home Shield. The last work that's being done is the outside work, laying down the new pipes that go from the street level to the main electrical underground lines to the house. It has taken them two months to get to the finishing job, but it will be all finished over between sometime by the end of this week or early next week.

Just recently, my heating element in my combined air conditioner-heating unit went out on me. I was very pleased with the group that came in and worked through American Home Shield. They found what the problem was. They needed to replace the circuit board. They ordered it. And it was all taken care of very rapidly and very courteously. So far, so good.

I don't like the new system that American Home Shield has with having to try to talk to a live person. Everything has to go through either press 1, press 2. I have to go through too many procedures. I just wish it would have if you wanna speak to a representative, push 8 or whatever, instead of going, push this, push this, and get through 17,000 pushes before you finally get the right one. And finally, someone either hangs up on you or you get disconnected or you have to start the procedure all over again. It's very frustrating. Especially when you get to be 89 years old, you lose patience with stuff like that. And I keep getting the wrong people or go to the website. I don't like doing stuff online for several reasons.

But overall, I haven't been dissatisfied. If American Home Shield could make access to a live person faster and easier, that would put them in the very high plus column. I hope that American Home Shield takes note of this complaint and makes an effort to make some adjustments in that area. We'll keep our fingers crossed for 2021.

It's simple to submit claims. I do it over the computer and they set up the contractor. They send the job and somebody will call and schedule the appointment. One time, when we did the hot water tank, I felt that the people they sent took advantage of me. They came out with a standard, which I didn't like and then, they charged me $185 to cut lines off one tank and put the same lines on another one. They did something else and they charged me an extra $485. The lines were $200 and it was ridiculous. It wasn't American Home Shield's fault though. Other than that, it was okay. At another time, I put in a claim on a Saturday and they had the appointment for me on Monday. The guy came out to check the unit for me and everything went fine.

We also had the icemaker and the fridge go out. They came out quick on that, but the last time, the last part they needed to get took longer because Samsung had the part on backorder. It wasn't their fault as well. However, the one thing I don't like about American Home Shield is that if you call because you have a question about something, the people that answer the phone can't give you an answer. It’s not technical assistance. It’s just to set up the appointment, and then you have to wait ‘til they come out. If you’re not sure you need what you're talking about, then you're stuck.

AHS has been pretty good. They responded when I needed them and that's a good thing. They recently sent out a tech from Delta T HVAC and he was a little bit late, but he got the work done quickly. I also had a plumbing leak and I ended up having all of my plumbing replaced. All of it wasn't covered, but the amount of money that the insurance company was paying was deducted from my bill to have it replumbed. Aside from that, AHS replaced a faucet for me and had a custom tile. And I will be calling them soon for a spigot faucet replacement.

I saw American Home Shield on television and I just decided I would try it. At one time, I was kinda hesitant. I was having some problems. But it seemed that that cleared up. The contractors were supposed to come at that time but they didn’t. It took them forever to call. My thing with AHS is they should make an emergency option. In the case of my heat and air, it was just a maintenance service and there wasn’t any hurry so I didn’t call back. AHS contacted Air Plus Services to do a service check for my heat. If I hadn’t heard from them in a couple of days, I was to call them. I didn’t hear from them for almost a week then they suddenly called. A tech came in and checked the thermostat and everything. He did all right.

But when I had trouble with my washer leaking one time before, I had to keep calling to get somebody out. That was an emergency because I didn't want to keep turning my water off outside. Right now, things are okay. But in emergencies, AHS has yet to prove themselves to me. Some people might say everything’s an emergency but AHS should know what an emergency is and what is not. They can use the contractors that have the speediest service. This is one that’s available to come then and that’s one who needs to come.

As soon as I knew it was Beyer, I got their phone number and I called them straight away. Beyer did a great job. We had Beyer two times now, and each time, they've been polite, very professional, quick and accurate on their diagnosis and their repair. The only issue I have with AHS is that some of the call reps may not be up on the latest information. My mother's been having some problems. They told her that Beyer was no longer a contractor of theirs. She came over and talked to the Beyer guy and Beyer was like, “What?” But I've always had a great experience with AHS myself.

But the contractors and the service techs that came out were very thorough, courteous, and informative. They took great care to keep our home clean and maintain a safe social distance. US Air conditioning of Texas came for the heater that was out. There’s a little bitty part they are gonna bring in which is a safety valve but it's working good. However, the process with American Home Shield is not simple. The line’s always tied up. Sometimes, I'll call and get ahold of them right then but sometimes, it may take six hours. It’s getting ahold of them that's usually the biggest problem. Having to get a company from so far out is also an issue. We had a lot of things that I was pretty upset about. Getting people to do the job is also a problem. They've been short-handed. They had to wait to get everything approved. You got to read all the little signs on what you're covered. What they got is too many bosses but once I got to the top guy, I was able to get it fixed.

I’d advise somebody if they don’t have it to get it. I'm not gonna drop the home warranty ‘cause I've been having it for years and they've taken care of everything. Our conditioner was out this summer and we had some real problems. They ended up replacing every bit of it. But we were a month getting it fixed ‘cause they fixed one then they had to get something else. Something else would go out, they’d fix it, it’d go out, they'd fix it. What they should have done the first time on the air conditioner was replace it. Better communication and getting it done and not having to go back would be good too. They need probably more people working that can answer. I can report it real quick but it's getting them here that's the problem. Up until this year, the service has been a lot faster. If you get ahold of them, they can usually get on it. They usually hire pretty good people to do the job.

We've had the service since March and we've only had to use it this one time. I’m the type that’s very impatient and it would be great if American Home Shield could speed up their process a little. My wife did some research online, and it seems that they have the better service. If that's the case, then I'd hate to see the services on the other competitors.

I'm happy I got the service taken care of, but the length of time it took to get the item fixed was very time consuming. It took a month and a half, which would have been done in less than a week if I had taken care of it on my own. It would be nice to be able to set up my own contractor to come and do the work, facilitate it for myself and then they take care of the bill after doing the approval.

Trying to get through their phone system to talk to somebody live is quite the process as well. My biggest complaint is it's slow. They also use an outside call station and it was hard to deal with. They have somebody that's got a heavy accent. They’re talking in English but they’re talking extremely fast. Sometimes that makes it hard to understand them.

The contractor was really respectful. He was friendly, personal and professional. Even though there was nothing to actually fix, when it was still on, he still pulled everything kind of apart and checked the blower and a couple of areas, and blew off some of the terminals. It was plugged by some corrosion that had clogged the drain hole. Johnston's Heating and Cooling came out and they did a great job. We're happy with American Home Shield but there's always room for improvement.

We live in a community that's right on the border of being rural and suburban. It seemed like there was a hard time finding somebody that American Home Shield had a contract with that was close in the area. Initially, it was gonna be a long time for the contractor to come out. We were facing freezing temperatures and our heater didn't work. There needs to be an easier way to find closer contractors. We've had people come all the way up here from West Virginia to do stuff. That's a two and a half hours drive.

American Home Shield should know the contractors that are in the area and they should have a variety of people to choose from. There should be at least two or three to choose from in case there is an issue. If we're unhappy with one contractor, I wouldn't know who we would get. In urban bigger cities and stuff, it's probably not an issue. But that's not the case out here where we live. Thankfully, we were happy with the contractor we got.

I didn't have a good experience with some of the people that they deal with though. They do lousy job. For instance, they came out when I had a problem with my dryer. On something that they said they’ll look at, the guy said, “It’s just a little noise. It’d be all right.”

I called American Home Shield back. They sent a different company out and they corrected the problem. Recently, the spring broke on one of my garage doors and the sensors went out on the other one. I wasn't at home at the time when Garage Door Experts was there, but the person that was at my house said they were very professional.

The people came out and said there were no issues with it except the carbon monoxide. But it was an old system, so eventually, it would go up. I have this warranty and they would either fix or replace it. The general maintenance is good ‘cause I get yearly checks on it.

But I would much rather have a human being I can talk to. I called in and went through the whole mess of pressing this one and that one, which was very unacceptable in my opinion. I didn’t ever get to a person. I was sent an email that said Pruitt was my person and that they would contact me. Pruitt was good and contacted me right away. Their service was fantastic. But my experience with American Home Shield was extremely aggravating because I would answer the question and the machine would ask me the question again. Then the same thing would happen. I had somebody else before I had AHS and I talked to real people. That was always very successful and very short. I didn't have to stay on the phone for a very long time.

I had an issue with my pump leaking. I called American Home Shield on the phone and it was little difficult because there was a long wait. Then I got an email and a text about the assigned contractor. Upland Pool did a great job. The tech was knowledgeable. But I put in a complaint about the electrical people. They were terrible.

I have hanging lights in my kitchen. One of them doesn't work. When the electrician got here, he looked adamant. He climbed up on the little ladder because the lights are hanging, and he started unscrewing from the bottom. I told him he didn't need to do that. He could just lift the top off and the bulb is in the top part. He said there was no bulb. I said I’ve got a bulb, but it doesn’t work. So I gave him the bulb, and then he said it didn’t work. He said it needed a part. But he didn’t know what the part was.

I told him that maybe he should take apart one of the other ones so he could see what part he needed and get it. He said he didn't do that and that was not what they do. I asked him, “What is it that you do?” He told me about wiring or he’ll change the bulb. But that’s not paying $100 for electrical. I'm really, really angry about that one. Then we went through this whole little scenario, and he said I could change them all over to LED, which I don’t really want to. He said it’d be $150 to $200 to change them over. I told him that I want him to fix the one that’s broken. So I’ve gotta call now some other electrician to come out and do it.

I did three things in one day. I did the pool, the lights, and my washer. The guy came out today on the washer. We went through it together. He said it's fine. He couldn't find why it was making the noise that I heard, but I was fine with that. I knew that he put a little time into it and ran it through twice. I’ve got the peace of mind now knowing that he came out, and he checked it out, and it's okay.

I told American Home Shield when I called what was wrong with it. Affordable Appliance Repair came and looked at it. They said it was a problem with the keyboard and they ordered one. They came back in and installed it and it was working. The other day, it did it again on just one of the cycles. But I hadn't called in because I wasn't sure if that was just like a glitch. But all the other cycles were fine. They were polite, nice, on time, and they worked with us. I could not complain at all.

My air conditioner was 1985, and you can't find those parts now. Other than that, AHS has been good when I call a person to come out. The dishwasher had gone bad for us on the weekend of the 4th of July, so I called AHS. It was a two-hour wait on the telephone, so I wasn't pleased with that at all. I don't understand the long waits on the telephone. It wouldn't be difficult to hire more people. And there was no direct way of calling anybody over there. You have to get in to the waiting queue. Then, they sent a serviceman out that came out in a few days, which wasn't a problem. He ordered some parts which were on backorder and that took a few weeks to come in. When they finally came in, he came back and installed the parts. Then, it worked a little bit after the he came out and repaired it. Then on Labor Day weekend, it broke again. He came back out and determined that it would have to be replaced.

They gave me a replacement option, which I looked at. The dishwasher they wanted to replace it with was nowhere near the quality of the dishwasher that we were replacing and it was about half the price that we paid for ours. So I called up and complained about that. They decided to upgrade their offer and give us a better dishwasher. Then, the dishwasher was ordered and installed and it is working. All in all, I'm not really happy with AHS. Eventually, they got the situation fixed but time-wise, it was very poor.

I have two more places that I use as rental income and I've had American Home Shield in Alabama for approximately three years. I didn't have any major issues there but in one of the rental units down there, the air conditioning-went bad on us. They went through the whole thing and decided they were going to replace the parts. But the parts were on backorder and in the meantime, the renters in there can't go without air conditioning. It's in the middle of the summer. So I turned around, bought the air conditioning unit myself, and bypassed AHS altogether because they couldn't do anything in a timely fashion.

When I first submitted the claim to American Home Shield, the garage wasn't closing all the way. They sent out Twilight Electrical. When they came the first time, the tech said that he had another one that was kinda similar to what ours was doing. So, he reconfigured the codes and then it closed. Later that night, we went and bought groceries. We came in through the garage, opened the garage door open and unloaded our groceries. When I went to close it, it went down halfway, then went back up. Then it went down back halfway, then it went back up. Then the red light was coming on the garage door opener again.

So, the next day, I submitted a claim again that it still wasn't fixed. Then they said they were gonna send out Twilight Electric again. It was a Friday when I did the resubmission. Then they called me and said the earliest they could get out was the following week. When they finally got back out, they looked at it. Then he called American Home Shield and asked for permission to go ahead and replace it. So, he got it replaced, and now it works.

I had another claim and it was for a leak in the bathtub. That would have to be done twice. That was my first claim, and I didn't know that there was like a specific amount of days to where you can do a follow-up if it wasn't working right. And it was after that time frame. I had noticed that the leak was still there and the noise and the knocking, so then I had to submit a whole new claim for it again for it to get refixed. It works now. I like that I got fast response and they were able to resolve my issues and it was in a timely manner.

Then, recently, two providers came out for the dishwasher and neither one of them fixed anything and they both had to order parts. It was weird that two people came out for the same issue about two weeks apart. Otherwise, everything else has been fine. The contractors bring parts with them and fix issues on the spot. I've had others that have come out on multiple occasions. Also, submitting claims is easy now that we do it online, although a lot of times the providers are the ones that will tell us they can't make it out for two weeks.

Maybe I could have got it done for less. But sometimes, the problem is something that could have been $500, $600 to fix. The service people fixed the problem and right there, it covers a whole year of services. That's where having the home warranty is beneficial. It's like any insurance. Sometimes there is something little that may not have been as worth it but if it's something bigger and you're like, "Phew. That worked out." I put in a request to American Home Shield for something in my mom's house and E & A Mechanical was assigned to do the service. My son followed that up. They contacted us immediately and said that they contacted Texaire and that they'd come out. Texaire Heating & Air Conditioning came out on the date and the time that American Home Shield said they would and they were very professional.

Because of the COVID, they were fully masked, maintained social distancing, and stayed outside for as much as they possibly could. They answered all the questions prior and made sure they explained everything they were doing while they were doing it. They removed the old compressor and replaced it with a new one, and then they made sure everything was working properly. They also made sure that we were aware of what the issue was and they told us they were going to contact American Home Shield and let them know exactly what it was. They gave us a time frame when things usually happen, and it was even quicker than they had relayed to us.

I bought a home a little over a year ago and the seller had coverage, which is how they do on appliances when you purchase a home. I used American Home Shield before I even moved in and they did some service on the air conditioner. They were Johnny-on-the-spot and took care of that. My sons checked on the furnace as well. After nine months, when I fully moved in, my contract was expiring, I renewed it on the basis that they had taken care of the problems prior. I had a new policy started and when I called them, they came right out. I've been very satisfied and tempted to keep the policy going in the future.

I'd have to look at the contract to see if there was anything else that should be added, but I haven't pursued it that much. I know American Home Shield doesn't work on televisions, but other than that, it seems that they cover most of the items. I don't know the scope of their ability or how wide they wanna expand their services, but they've done well on what I've had them handle. They were efficient and quite versatile. It was frustrating that I submitted the same claim and had to pay twice for a service that was only done once. It's just like the contractors are passing the buck. I had a problem with the AC and American Home Shield sent a company over. The company said that I had to do some major fixes, like the coil. It was a $2,000 repair which American Home Shield said that they would pay about 1,100, and it would be $900 out of my pocket. I wanted to get a second opinion, so I called another company and it was $200 to charge the Freon. That was the only thing and it's been about two months with no additional issues.

This happened the second time on a different house. The contractor would come and say that I need to replace the coil and it would be $2,000. In both cases, it was a very simple repair. The second time it happened, the issue was the thermostat. It ended up being a $200 repair, instead of $2,000. So it seemed like the people American Home Shield were sending were cheating the insurance company and the user, which is me. They were trying to get more money for something that didn't require any major repair.

I had another issue with the fridge, where the ice maker wasn't working. So they sent somebody over and all they said was the couldn't fix it. There was no follow-up. You end up spending $75 for the service call and the monthly fee, but you don't get anything in return. So that's why I canceled all my warranties with them and I switched to First American.

AHS usually calls or emails the contractor and sometimes they call if it's a pressing situation then a contractor contacts us. They always have 24 to 48 hours to get in touch with the customer unless it's a real emergency.

I was happy with Mandolin. They are good. The tech that came said it was the sensor that went out. When he turned the furnace on, it worked. But after he was gone, we had two warm days then one cold night. We wanted to turn it on and it didn't work again. It's two weeks now and a tech is coming again today to replace the sensor. It's been a cold house for a week now. The only problem was Mandolin was waiting to have an email that the trip fee was covered because AHS had not paid for it yet. I told the rep that if they didn't wanna pay the trip fee, I'd give my credit card. I don't wanna wait for another weekend in a cold house in really cold days. We have the temperature in the 20s at night. Now, we have it at much less. We went and got some electric heaters but we worry about the electricity bill.

Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield although there were a couple of times in between when I didn't go anywhere. Everybody blames it on COVID now. AHS' line is sometimes very busy and you wait on hold for 20 minutes, which I don't mind. But then the line goes down and you have to try all over again. The reps are very friendly and they speak good English. Sometimes you call somebody and they don't know what to say because I probably sound like a German and they never heard it. And then we were stuck so I was a little disgruntled because the house gets colder and colder as the days go. But everything went fine. We've been with AHS for 16 years now because we are retired and you have only so much to work with. Usually, everything goes smoothly.

They found that what was wrong. The garage door started to work a little bit and the tech said the weight of it was wrong. It needed to be handled. They replaced some parts of the garage door that were not covered and I ended up paying them $200 for that. They fixed what they felt they needed to do and everything is working fine. My garage door is going up much smoother right now and I'm sure it's going to help the wear and tear of the motor on it in the future. I always recommend American Home Shield.

He checked it and I explained to him about PG&E. I said there was something wrong with the heater and he went up there and checked it. He said that somebody would get in touch with me. I asked if he was sure and he said that the heater works. I told him to turn it off. He didn't do much.

I talked to somebody and another guy came out. He was very good, a lot nicer and friendlier. He said that he was told that it was a carbon monoxide leak. He explained to me that it was very light and that I should just have the vents cleaned. When he was checking the heater, he said that it was okay but I don’t wanna use it. I'm going to call them to come out and service my vents. I'm not even gonna call American Home Shield. They said I have to wait for something to break down. I wouldn't recommend them. I was going to do that with my niece and I told her to hold off.

When American Home Shield hands the job off to one of their contractors, there is very low we can do about the performance. That’s something that’s on the company. The way in which the program is set up, I make a call and it sets a claim. The people on the other end follow through. They connect me with the contractor, and we go from there. When I had a problem, I had to go back to American Home Shield because the company that had been recommended wasn’t able to get the problem fixed. The claims process is straightforward and I don't have an issue about it, but I have an issue about the performance.

The contracted company did not provide the correct diagnosis about the source of the problem for my furnace in my house and that misdiagnosis has resulted in continued loss of heat from my furnace not functioning correctly the first time as well as the second time. I had to call back 10 days afterwards and I’d be getting a second opinion. I’m not doing a buyout though. I’m still in a state of the company being able to come by and see exactly what needs to be done to get the problem fixed.

The dryer stopped working, and Appliance Protection addressed it great. This was much better than when I had to get my AC fixed. This was quick. I put in the claim one night, they came out a day later. And then two days later, they had the part and completed it. I recommended Home Shield to my mom and she got it too.

I've been satisfied and that's why we extended our policy with them. We just re-enrolled because we've only had good experiences. I used them when my front loader washing machine was saying that the door wasn't latching. I got on YouTube and I also googled some stuff and it showed me how to do a self-diagnostic on it. American Home Shield sent out Appliance Wizard. The guy from there showed up right when he said he would and I let him know what the code was and everything. He had the replacement on hand and he was here for 15 minutes. This guy had been here before. The last time was for our dryer. I have been satisfied every time.

We have a rental property that had a problem with the heating element. TruTech Heating and Cooling came right out. The tenant just needed the flue lit. The gas furnace needed to be restarted and the company repaired it. It was a seamless process because the tenant hasn't complained about that. Then there was a contractor who came out for our dishwasher. They were supposed to come back on November 3rd and we haven't heard back from them.

Previously, communication with AHS wasn't that great, just being able to talk to someone who could help you without being passed on. However, it seems like since the COVID-19 pandemic, the two calls that I've had with them have been very responsive. Hopefully, with my two new experiences, things are better. I've always recommended them because the value is better. I look at it as a savings account. I pay them, and when something breaks, I don't have to come out of my pocket.

The only thing is that because I have tenants, they automatically bill me the 75. I wish that there was a way that instead of billing me, I could have my tenants set up an account and then they could bill the tenant the 75. Because often, I have to eat that. For landlords, it would be good if there was a tenant portal, so if it's a tenant who is living in the home, instead of the owner having to incur that $75 at every single call, it could be transferred to the tenant and the tenant would have to do it.

It's very inconvenient because rather than just doing laundry in my own house, I have to go out of my way and go to the laundromat, expose myself more to other people, there's a pandemic, and it's causing me more money. At this point, I might as well just save up for a whole new washer. The contractor ordered the part, and if anything, I'd just follow up, and maybe AHS would just find a different contractor. But then with my recent claim, the individual from Coulter Repair who came out was amazing.

Overall, American Home Shield is a great company. They're doing what they're told, that is, beyond their measure because that's the company. It's a home warranty. If you don't have one, you're just going to pay out-of-pocket, straight up, the whole price instead of just doing the deductible thing. I pay them a deductible and then they send somebody out.

They tested for carbon monoxide leaks too. It turns out that a gas switch was turned off. They turned that switch on and got the furnace working. They also gave me a quote on an AC system.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. They provide good value because you're paying monthly for a warranty product. It's like being in an apartment. You just call the service office to fix something, but you're in a house. You have the warranty company that you can call, and they come out and fix things. It’s especially nice for first-time homeowners, which I am, so it helps with that transition a lot. I'd like it if they would have covered the roof. But I have the high-ticket items so they probably wouldn't wanna cover that. I understand just from an insurance point-of-view because I don't know if I even need it. But who knows? Then after a while, the temperature didn't work at all on either the freezer side or the refrigerator side. I set up a claim through the automated system of AHS and I told them that I needed a repair for the refrigerator. But I had inadvertently put down the wrong make of my refrigerator. I put down Whirlpool and I contacted them back and said it was actually a Frigidaire. They were awesome with switching that out. With COVID, things kind of got delayed and that was not any of their fault, but I had to call them back and say that I needed someone a little bit sooner than two weeks because I needed a refrigerator.

The tech who came out were great and they fixed the refrigerator right away. I called them back after that because I felt that the refrigerator wasn't cooling enough. The guy was really great when I called him back and said they guarantee the work for 60 days. But they came right out and unscrewed the back of the refrigerator. They knew exactly what it was and they fixed it. The freezer’s working great since then. The refrigerator is working great but I feel like it’s not as cool as before. But he told me to just keep a watch on it and let them know. They were wonderful.

All in all, I love American Home Shield and I’m glad I jumped on board with them. Our air conditioning had went out, so we had that repaired through American Home Shield. I went online, I signed in and mentioned that my AC was no longer blowing any cold air. In a relatively short amount of time, I was contacted to set up an appointment. A gentleman came out. The furnace is located in the garage. So, he had to go in the garage first so he could check the AC and then find out. He said, "Nope. Your AC's cooling actually quite well." Then he checked the furnace. He says, "Okay. There's where your issue is. The motor, it's gone." The issue was with the furnace and the motor that blows the air out right throughout the air ducts that had died out. That was what needed to be replaced.

I was skeptical at first about calling Home Shield again. I feel that, previously, there were a lot of rules that were designed to really minimize the amount of cost of coverage that they actually do. There was one time when there was a pipe that was damaged. In order to get to it, you had to remove the toilet to be able to access it and to be able to fix it and do what needs to be done. I was told that while they will get the pipe fixed, they weren't gonna cover the cost of the toilet. It's things like that that would really irritate most consumers.

Then in the shower, there was a valve that controls the hot and cold water that needed to be replaced. Over time, it just rusted. The plumber was really trying to see if he could just wrench it off. He had to be very careful because if he did any further damage to the pipe, that would be on him. So, he said, “Look, the only way I can really do this, ‘cause it’s so corroded, is I have to cut into the wall, remove the pipe entirely. And then I can patch it up.” Home Shield said they classify that as modifying the piping, and that would not be covered. So, all they did was they covered the cost of the valve and whatever time associated with it, but the piping and all the cutting into the walls were not covered.

This recent experience was probably one of the best experiences we've had. My wife and I were satisfied. For a little while, we're kind of wondering, “Should we keep this?” Now, we're probably gonna continue to retain Home Shield. The claim was smooth. The contractor came in, the problem was assessed, they got the replacement parts, they installed it, and it worked. We paid 100 bucks for the person to show up. Everything else is covered by the insurance. It was nice to just have it work as intended.

The fan was not working on our furnace and Best Heating, Cooling and Electric came out and assessed the situation. They ended up ordering the circuit board and showing up the next day to replace it. It was my first claim with American Home Shield and it was very simple. Once I got signed in to the website, clicked a few buttons to say what system was wrong or what system needed service, and a little bit of detail, they handled the rest. The technician who came out was the same guy both days. He was very pleasant, normal, talkative and conversationalist, which was nice. He was clean. He took his shoes off before I told him he could leave them on. So, he was very considerate and courteous. With American Home Shield, it’s good peace of mind to not worry about little day-to-day breakdowns.

It was important that we got our heat done and we put it to one company, but they couldn't do it. The request got resubmitted to another company, Five Star, and they were awesome. They came out, did the diagnostics and came back within three days. We were gone a few days, but they came back, put in a control board, and cleaned the gas nozzle. The only complaint I have would be they didn't leave me with any paperwork, so I don't know exactly what they did. I had to ask them, “So what happened, what transpired?” It's one little thing which is not that big of a deal though.

Maybe they were not the friendliest, but they were very punctual and professional. In these times, they were very respectful of the home and wore all the proper stuff and took off their shoes. They came to do what they had to do, and they got it done. They were in and out quick. They were on top of it, so that was great. We got American Home Shield off a recommendation of a friend and I'm gonna call them and talk to them about adding a second home we have to the contract.

The claim was originally with 2 Bald Guys but they canceled last minute. Dudek got me in the next day and fixed the oven quickly. The guy did amazing. I had to get a washer replaced and during the process of getting the reimbursement check, I updated my address with them but they still sent it to the wrong address. They weren't taking thorough notes and putting it in. It took like four months for me to get my reimbursement. But that was my only irritation with AHS. I recommend them to all of my clients and friends. They're always great.

I put in a claim to American Home Shield for a tune-up on the heater and I had problems doing it online to so I wound up doing it by phone. But it was good dealing with the claims rep. They sent a highly-qualified guy out and he did the job very fast. It turned out there was a part that needed to be exchanged. He found it promptly and changed it out, and it works fine. I'm very happy with AHS.

I was having an issue with my washing machine not cycling. I filed a claim for it and I got a response in under 30 minutes. The contractor had somebody close by and they came within an hour. It was very quick. They looked at the washer, took the parts information, and tried to diagnose to see if there was anything they could determine on the onboard computer. They had a list of parts and they gave me a timeframe. They did great. They coordinated everything very well too. They reached out to me and kept me in the loop during the entire process. They let me know when the parts were ordered. When they received the parts and had gone over everything, they tried to make sure that I was gonna be available at home.

They came back and put brand new parts on the washer. They ran the machine to make sure everything was good and I was there the entire time to wash and do everything. They did everything to make sure that before they left, everything was done correctly. The washing machine has been working excellently like it's brand new. I recently purchased a brand new home and American Home Shield happened to come along with the coverage. I really didn't think I was gonna need to use it. But things happen unexpectedly and I was surprised how well it worked out and how quick their response time was so I couldn't have been more impressed.

He explained to me what it was. I told him I figured it could have been the thermostat. The battery was gone. It was what it was, and he told me. I also got this thing with them where they come up twice a year and check everything with that. I need that. When our water heater stopped working, a plumber came out, took a look at the heater and the plumbing, and realized that there was an electrical box that had some hooked wires in it. He went ahead and let us know what the issue was. It wasn't the heater or the plumbing. It was electrical. He checked the wiring and it was good to go after that.

Everything is easy with American Home Shield. When we have an issue, I jump on my phone quick and usually, it's the next day that we get somebody out here to get it fixed. The coverage is good as well. If you have a pool and a pool pump, go for the extra. For some reason, I didn't and I don't remember it even being an option until I lost my pool pump. I had to replace it out of pocket because it wasn't covered by my policy. Afterwards, I saw that it was an option and I got that on my policy. For homeowners with pools, have that option more readily explained.

So we had to call a second time to get another plumber out who was a little bit more experienced. The second guy went through the process of checking everything and he fixed the problem. The first guy who came out wasn't an experienced plumber and he didn't check the check valve and see that it wasn't working properly. He should have known to check everything. I just moved into my home and the previous owner only provided one key. So, to have some safety within the home, I had the tech come out and rekey all of the locks. The process of submitting a claim with AHS was really fast and efficient. I was able to tell them what my issues were. They provided a list of locksmiths that I can contact or that will contact me and then I've made my selection. Then the locksmith called me that same day to schedule an appointment within the week that best suited my schedule.

The locksmith was very professional. She called me the day before to remind me of my appointment. Then she called me 20 minutes out from coming to my home. She ensured that she wore a mask, which was very important. Then any questions that I had in regards to the locks, she was able to answer what locks she would be able to change and which ones she couldn't. I have a lock that the old owner installed that is a code lock. She told me she couldn't rekey that because I didn't have a key. So, it was good in regards to that and then what American Home Shield covered and what they didn't. This is my first time with American Home Shield for this home. In my previous home, I had American Home Shield and they came twice for things that I needed at that home.

They came out about a week or so later and put the new switch in, and everything's fine. I've done my claims on the phone and online. It's pretty simple. I prefer AHS over the last company I had. There's a difference in the coverage and they're better at finding people to fix it. In my experience, they have a better network of people that they can get the job done. On my last home warranty, I was paying yearly fees, and AHS is monthly, but the coverage goes into effect a month after I got it. Maybe a yearly fee instead of monthlies would be a little more cost-efficient. But I have no complaints over the service. I'm willing to pay that little bit of extra if I have to, so that's fine.

I was completely misled by a representative. Lied to is a better way of putting it. Now I am out 400 dollars because the company is dishonest. I had a plumbing issue. They sent in plumbers to fix the pipe. The plumbers had to tear out some wall. They also knocked out some of the studs in the wall. I called them and they said they would find someone to come fix it. Never heard anything back.

I called back 2 weeks later, they said they can't find anyone so I can get someone to fix it and they will reimburse me. The person on the end could hardly speak English so I made sure to clarify many times! I said, "You will reimburse me for the damage the plumbers have done, fully?" I asked different ways and they assured me over and over. I had a bad feeling after reading complaints about American Home Shield.

So I finally find a drywall guy to come out to work on the wall. He points out that he can not install a wall to loose and falling off studs. So he buys new studs and fixes it. He puts one layer of mud on it. He was supposed to come back out after but he got sick. He caught CoVid. He is better now and has finished the sanding and drywall. So I call in to get my refund and they proceed to tell me they will pay 100.... It was 500 to fix the damage the plumbers caused getting to the pipe. If this was their policy, they really should have told me when is asked. I would like my money refunded. I was misled in huge way! I was about to renew my contract. Not a chance in heck I will be doing that if this is not made right.

American Home Shield is great. We had a claim for the sink in the kitchen. All of a sudden, it started dripping. Even when you turn the faucet off, it would not actually turn off the water. We just had a dishwasher installed so I was thinking that it might be something with the dishwasher but it wasn't that. It was the faucet. The guy explained to me that the corrosion eventually rotted out the rubbers and the mechanism that kept the faucet open and shut. So they replaced it with a new faucet. Everything works perfectly now. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been easy. Before I call them, I check and see if the issue is covered under my contract. If it is, then I place an order to fix or repair the issue.
