    American Home Shield has helped me with a lot of different circumstances. I've had their service for a lot of years now and I've had a lot of different repairs. I'm satisfied with them. It was easy when you submit a claim because AHS sends it right to the contractor. I had a tech check out the AC. It wasn't workng and the coolant had. leaked out. It was good dealing with him. But he couldn't repair it because they had to get the gas and put it in. He found that it was not worth fixing because that had been about the third time that had happened. The unit is replaced and fixed. It works fine now.

    The guy who came for the shower said that he needed to contact American Home Shield to see if he can get approval for additional work in which I don't have running water in here. It's been that way for a couple of weeks now. Since the storm, it was off and on. I had to get some repairs done outside because the pipes busted. I had to take care of that myself. We didn't have water for three weeks. And now, here we go again. I really do need water.

    The guy just came Friday, and I did speak with American Home Shield and they set up for someone to come. He came over but the problem is he's going to have to take a wall down. Because he has to take down a wall, he has to get authorization for that. Other than that, the service has been great. The timing was not too bad. Everything has been going great because anytime that I've made my call to American Home Shield, someone is here within a week, and sometimes in a couple of days. That's very good, especially being where I'm at. We just had a series of storms that came through here.

    What's beneficial with American Home Shield is that if something does break, they have the resources to find parts. My home was built in 1979. I had a range that had broken down at one point. I really loved that range. Even though it was older, American Home Shield was able to find the part for that oven in which when the contractor came over, he said, “Oh, well, this is an older model and I don't think that we'll be able to fix this. Because I've looked and I can't find parts." American Home Shield found the part. So, I was very happy about that.

    I tell everybody about them. Even when the storm came and I found out that people didn't have homeowners insurance or any type of insurance for appliances, I told them, “You need to get American Home Shield.” I've had them forever and they have never failed me. What I also love about American Home Shield is they always follow up. They'll send me text messages and keep me informed, which I really love because especially now, you don't know who’s coming to your house, but they give me the contact information. They keep me abreast of what's going on.

    My dryer wasn't getting hot and my dishwasher wasn't getting the dishes clean. The water was going to the top. I called American Home Shield and that process was fine. Sometimes it's not though. There is a long hold time on the line. Sears was assigned to do the work and I was given an expected timeline of when they would come out. This time, it was okay. The last time, about five people came to my house and I didn't like that. But this time, Sears came out and it took a few days. They got the work done and I was satisfied.

    It’s easy to submit a claim with AHS. My appliance was heating up then there was smoke. I called American Home Shield and they gave me the number of Appliance Express Repair. I called and got an appointment. I asked the tech who came what was wrong. He said the appliance can be fixed. He will write a report to American Home Shield then will reach me within a week. The technician told me that someone else from another company would be sent to do the installation.

    AHS offered me a reimbursement. They will send me a check that will equate to the same amount if they are the one buying the appliance and installing it. But I wanted to know if we ask someone to install the appliance, if that would be included in the reimbursement. So I called their number and the rep I spoke with told me she didn't know because it was for a different department. She transferred me to the appliance department but no one was picking up the phone. I waited for more than an hour and this was during office hours. I figured since I didn’t have anyone to talk to then I’ll just get the cash then I’ll submit all the receipts including the installation. I ended up doing things online. But sometimes, it’s nice to talk to someone.

    American Home Shield has been very helpful and anytime I've had an issue, they've sent somebody out very quickly. I had a front-load Samsung washing machine and it kept throwing an error code. It ended up being that it had wobbled and the motor had burnt out. The repair would have been more than what a new washing machine would cost so AHS replaced it. I ended up with a different name brand but the same style of washing machine. So, I'm very happy with it. The guy who came out has been out to my house prior. It’s the second time he's come out for the call because he works for Sears, which is usually who AHS ends up sending out in this area. He was very knowledgeable and cordial. I knew the guy before and he does a great job. He knows exactly what he's got to fix. It's a quick process. He has either got it fixed or he knows what he's got to have to fix it within a few minutes. He’ll get right to it, take care of it and be out of the way.

    American Home Shield has a great claim process and I really love the online system. I made a claim for a dishwasher issue and a tech came in less than 24 hours. He was very professional and quick. The guy knew what the issue was immediately. He left to go pick up a part and came right back. He fixed the dishwasher for us that day. It was awesome.     Our heater went out from a key fan component and submitted the claim. Luckily, I've had issues with the actual partner reaching out before AHS had assigned, but they called in the morning because we have a newborn, and so obviously, no heating in Denver is not good. They were to the point and diagnosed it and due to not having the part because it was a critical piece, had to order and even had to get something down in Colorado Springs. That pretty much turned it around in a day. They were able to get out after getting the unique part, fixed it on at least the timelines they stated, and it was nice service. They're one of the best from any type of claim the last couple years we've had.

    Sometimes with some of the other claims, I feel like if I didn't make the point of reach out, it's like we didn't get called for a week. Some of American Home Shield's partners sometimes can take a while in terms of not prioritizing. That's the issue. One other time AHS closed the claim out for some reason when it wasn't, but it could have been resolved pretty quickly with some quick phone calls. The knock is we've had to sit on wait times for 30 minutes with them. But they've been good overall.

    I had a leak and it took me less than five minutes to submit the claim with AHS. Submitting it was simple online. Bestway Mechanical called me the same day but I didn't answer the phone so I didn't get in touch with them until the next day. I called them on a Friday and they came out on Monday. The guy was professional. He looked at what needed to be looked at and diagnosed the problem. It turned out that my shower drain in the upstairs bathroom was leaking and was causing damage to the ceiling below it. He fixed it and he was done in less than an hour. This was the first claim I've had to file and it's been a great experience so far. The response time from the time that I submitted my claim until someone actually reached out to me was relatively short.

    I have a 20-year-old house that I bought in May. It has two HVAC units. The upstairs' unit stopped producing AC. Up until that time, it produced AC all summer. It was over the course of the last couple of months that had been hot, cold, hot, cold so I did go from heat to cool a handful of times. The guy who came out was very helpful and got it working. He showed me the pictures of all the buildup. He said that when you switch from AC to heat, there's some sort of relationship there where you fall out of tolerance. It would not turn on due to the buildup. He then cleaned it up with some material. I have two intakes and the intake for one was a little bit under the wallboard footer. There was no filter in there. No one could change it. He created a way for me to filter it at the unit then remove the filters at the intake. It enabled me to solve the problem of the issue with one of the intakes. It was great.

    I have had some not so great experiences with American Home Shield but the last one was good. The contractor came out and changed out some of my electrical outlets. It was great. He did a good job and was very thorough. He answered all of my questions and fixed the problem, and I would use that contractor again. With my current plan with AHS though, I thought I was covered with everything. But I found out when the guy came out the last time that I wasn't. So, I'm not understanding what the 3x3 Home Protection Plan means.

    The oven had been out of service for almost two years before American Home Shield finally had it replaced. It was a real pain in the behind. They would always be ordering parts to put on it but it never works. I was trying to figure out why they kept getting these parts. As a matter of fact, I had like two boxes of parts. When the service came to put the stove in, I just gave them the box of parts. AHS paid more money trying to repair than they did when they finally decided to replace it.

    The reps were always nice whenever I could get through but it took forever if you call them. They're a big company and they get pretty busy especially on the phone until finally, they listened and had the thing replaced. The last lady that helped me got the ball rolling. I have been recommending AHS to friends ever since I had it. That was a bad experience we had concerning the stove but everything else we needed done was taken care of right away. Home Depot which was their service did their job. They came in and took care of business like they should.

    The guy was really nice. He came in and I told him it was a mess. He said it just needed a little tender loving care. In 20 minutes, he was done. It's awesome that I don't have to take the top of my toilet off and shimmy stuff. He's one of the best that I've had. I've had good ones since I went with American Home Shield.     I signed up through the yearly inspection to make sure everything is okay. It did it over the phone because it was on a weekend night. I had to get ahold of somebody in charge so Home Shield could put it down as an emergency because we were out without heat. I spoke to a supervisor and they got somebody out the next morning. The tech from Home Guard gave me a call when he was on his way. I recommend Home Shield three or four times a week. I work as a real estate agent. I tell new homebuyers, "Look, believe it or not, I bought my home 13 years, and this is who I use."

    The toilet was stopped up and the first time a contractor came out, the tech said he unstopped it but the toilet was still backed up when they left. Also, they took the water key and opened up the manhole for the water. They left the key thing out there in the middle of the yard. I was flustered about that because somebody could have walked in the hole and it could have been me. Then when they did the water faucet, it still was leaking.

    Since I've had Home Shield, I've been having some problems whenever I call for service. I was gonna cancel the service and go with another provider that does the same thing. I had it with the last one and when I called in to cancel it, I told the rep what happened. She said they'd give us a new contractor and to give them another try. Somebody else came out the next day and he said the other guys didn't do it right so he fixed it. And then he unstopped whatever it was that was stopped up. They had to send more than one person for the same thing that should have been fixed when they came out the first time.

    Also, they were supposed to give me a month free and a coupon. October was supposed to be not a charge and the rep assured me but they charged me for October anyway. I called about it twice and they still haven't refunded my card. When I called the last time, they told me that it would be credited back within seven days but it's been almost three weeks. Then when I called to try to use the coupon, they said they don't know anything about that. But they figured it out and they called me back. They told me I do have a coupon and that they would take care of it. What they tell you and what they do are two different things and every time I call, it's an hour wait. I can't go online for my problems because there's no place online for me to say I don't want a certain contractor or that they charged me when they weren't supposed to. It only allows you to click the service that you're requesting.

    On my job when I was working, I heard different people talk about warranties and they mentioned American Home Shield. I tried it and I've been with them for a while. Their service has been good. I saved money when I had to get something done. When I requested service, the process was good. The last claim I requested was for a clogged sewer line. I told the man that when I flushed my commode, things came up in my tub. When the service people came out, it was under there that I had a water leak. I said there was no water leak. I didn't have the outside cleaners so they went on the roof. But that didn't work so they had to go up on the house and do some things. The problem finally got fixed.

    North MS Appliance Repair came out for two separate appliances in the last year. Both have been excellent work. We had a recall on my refrigerator. It worked for about four days and then it went out. It was powered on but no coolant. So I called them back. The lady that answered was really awesome. I was contacted 7:30 the next morning by them and scheduled the time to come out. The tech replaced the compressor and it's going good. I've never had an issue with the gentleman. He was very professional. When he gives you a date and time, he's always there. He does a really thorough job diagnosing. I like him a lot.

    I like American Home Shield's services a lot too. I don't mind paying my monthly fee to be covered. We’re not leaving any time soon. We're more than happy with them. We looked at different options through different websites. But at the end of the day, we felt that American Home Shield would best suit the family. We got a pretty good size house and four kids. I wish we would’ve known about them sooner than what we did.

    I contacted American Home Shield because my furnace went out. The initial process of getting things scheduled was fine. I had one company come out and did diagnostics. The tech was here five minutes and left. That was kind of concerning to me so I called a company out on my own. The diagnosis that the company from AHS gave me and from the company that I sought out for myself were totally different. I went back to AHS and asked for a second opinion. They sent out another company and that company had the same diagnosis as the company that I sought out for myself. But the problem with that company was that they didn't follow through with sending AHS the diagnosis so that the problem could be fixed. American Home Shield sent out two companies that failed to do their job.

    At that point, I was really ticked off. I live in Chicago and at the time, it was getting cold and I needed a furnace expeditiously. Finally, they sent out a third company. The tech agreed with the other two companies about what needed to happen. He followed through, gave the diagnosis, and we finally got the furnace replaced. It took well over a month to get that done. But AHS's customer service - trying to do what they could to help me - was fine. They're a good service to have if things go wrong that is not of your doing. They will replace the items or replace most of the cost for the item. They need to maybe do a better job of finding more reliable companies, though.

    There was a leak from my bathroom and when I submitted a claim with AHS, my experience was good. I scheduled an appointment on my next day off with the contractor and their service was great. The tech who came out cut a hole in my wall and found where the leak was, then he had to come back on a different day. It took a few days to finally fix the leak but everything's great now.

    AHS has always done their best to help me and my husband with issues that we've had related to our home. They've always come through. I’ve had bad experiences with companies that were coming out here that were not very responsible and weren’t helpful. But I’ve learned over the years, as I request for certain services, to request for somebody or a company that had a 4-star attached to their name. If I had any plumbing issues, it would normally be Blue Star who I request to come out. They’ve been really good people to work with. They came out for my most recent claim and the plumbing system isn't making any noise anymore.

    The AC had frozen up. I had turned it off and left the fan running. I was leaving for vacation and didn't exactly know what to do. They advised me and when I got back, they came over and repaired it. All it needed was freon. They did a very nice job. They wore a mask and were very pleasant. I was very happy with it all.     I had an air conditioner unit that was not working. It was not coming on. So, I called Home Shield. They sent On Time Plumbing and Heating out. They were a couple of minutes early. There were two guys. Both were very friendly, decent people to work with. They wore protective wear. They wore masks and put shoe coverings on when they came into the house. They did their job, then came back to the front door and told me this is what it was. All they had to do was replace an external fuse that was out on the control box for the AC unit out on the house. I bet they weren't there a few minutes. They did a very good job. I expected the worst and it ended up being a very okay experience.

    My youngest son and my youngest daughter have had American Home Shield for years and they recommended it. I got a policy and one time, I had four problems. I went online, filled out the form, and then the plumbers called me on the same day. They were out on Wednesday and took care of my problems. One was a leak in the bathtub in the master bedroom, and they showed me it wasn't a leak at all. Another one was the faucet in the master bathroom was dripping, and they replaced it. I had a loose faucet in the kitchen as well, and they replaced that faucet too. Also, the toilet in the family bathroom would fill up on its own. It was loose and there was water leaking from the bottom. They rebuilt the mechanisms in the tank and removed the toilet. They must have replaced the seal underneath it and then they put some caulking around it and put it back. They were done in less than two hours and it seems to be working.

    I had four leaks at shutoff valves. There was one in the bathroom, one in the kitchen sink, one in the basement, and the well pump shutoff valve. They repaired all those. When they changed out the leak in the basement at the refrigerator line 'cause that one was leaking too, they put in a compression fitting. But it started to leak after they left. I had contacted them and they had made an appointment to come out and fix that. They were supposed to come today but they had to move it out because of some COVID testing. For the most part, AHS is great. I've had to call the hotline a couple times. There's little challenge but they did all right.

    The claim was that the water was leaking from the base of the refrigerator. It was the waterline. I put that in. It was hard articulating that because it wasn't the ice maker, so there was no place to put it. Our water dispenser is connected to our ice dispenser, so I just had to pick that and refrigerator. I didn't know what to pick. Home Shield called, "You have two refrigerators?" I was like, "No, it's just the one. I just couldn't select what I really wanted to submit the claim." But they came out and it was great.

    The only thing is it was a 12:00 to 6:00pm window. I had no idea when the techs were coming. I'm here between 12:00 and 6:00. And when I had a call earlier, it was four o'clock. I'm like, "Okay. When are they coming?" "So, yeah, they'll be there by like five o'clock." I'm like, "Oh, okay, that'd be good to know." Because she said, "Oh, he's got you at the end of the day because, in terms of his round, probably you're at the end of his day and where he's traveling from." I could have helped my wife take my kid to therapy instead of hanging out and waiting.

    And I get it, with the windows, this is not typical, but it does help people with families. You can let me know if it's gonna be at the end of the day or the beginning of the day because I got other stuff I can do. But the guy was awesome. He came out, very friendly, got to it right away. He was done quick. He fixed where the one leak was. Unfortunately, the waterline was 10 years old anyway. I had to call him back out because it re-leaked like the next day. But they couldn't get anybody out until today. It would be great if we could have gotten back out before the weekend. But we couldn't, so we had to wait until today to get them in. But he did a great job in fixing it again. He had to replace the whole line this time. Perhaps he could have done that in the beginning.

    The guy who cleans my pool told me something was wrong with the pump. I don't know anything about it so I call up American Home Shield. They sent me out Dunks. The tech came and he did a professional job. He spotted the problem right off. I hardly ever had any problems with American Home Shield but in the beginning, the problems that I did have weren't covered. I was getting kinda disappointed because I called them up a few times on certain items and they said, “I'm sorry, it's not covered. It's not covered.” I talked to my wife. I was about to find somebody else, but I kept them on. I need insurance, but I didn't think I needed somebody to keep telling me that it's not covered.

    When I call them, they could tell me right off the bat if the issue is covered or not. I pay that $100 up front, mechanic comes out here and looks at the thing. He calls up American Home Shield and they tell him, “Oh, it's not covered.” Now, I already paid $100 for the guy to come out here to tell me it's not covered. I’d like to know beforehand.     I had H and J Heating come out and do a tune-up. I showed them where to go, started inside and looked at the HVAC. They went outside and he came back and said everything was fine. He turned the heat up and he said it went to the designated temperature within five minutes. One time, a plumbing company that was originally located in Waldorf came out and they were absolutely horrible. The company didn't show up on two different occasions and then never called me back. I contacted American Home Shield and let them know what was going on. They dispatched someone else out, but it was a whole issue trying to get them to let go.     Opened a claim to fix a dishwasher on October 27, was assigned service provider for October 29 for morning, waited all day. Finally at the evening he arrived, looked at the dishwasher and told me that he cannot fix the dishwasher because he do not want to pull it out. Asked me or my husband to do it. We refused because we do know how to do it. Them he said, "Call your warranty company. They will assign you another provider." So I started to call from October 29 to warranty company and told them the situation, they keep telling me that it will Be escalated and somebody will call me to change a provider, since that day I called there every day and been told same script information from trained to talk like a robots Malaysian customer support representatives.

    Company located in US but all customer support located abroad. They do not have any rights to change provider or anything else. They just keep telling somebody will call me to resolve issues. No one called! Every day when I called them they promised again and again to assign other provider but today on November 13 when I called they said finally that they cannot fix my dishwasher because I need to pull it out and after service install it back and they do not cover that, if we are the customers would not do it so they cannot service us.

    Dishwasher was a serviceable item per agreement. So this company is bunch of scam. If something will break they will find many ways to refuse to service you. This warranty does not work at all. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! I’m still open for resolution. If they want to talk they can call me. I called 7 different providers in my area regarding dishwasher repair and all of them confirmed that pulling out and installing dishwasher back is part or service. By the way, dishwasher was installed in 2019 by one technician without any problems.

    American Home Shield's claims process has been different. In the past, when you call and set up for an appointment, which is fine with us, they don't take the money right up front. But we do that now. Also, instead of dealing with a person, it's more so computerized now. What I normally do if I need to speak with someone is stay on the line and request for a consultant, operator, technician or whoever I need to talk to.

    I want to talk to a person live instead of the computer asking about my claim. They go through like a litany of 5 questions or 10 questions. Mine was electrical. If it for example was number three, it will say, "What is the problem?" I express what the problem is. It says, "Well, a technician will be following up with you." What I do is when I get an email or text message from AHS, I call the technician myself. Sometimes, I don't even give them time to give me a call.

    I sent a claim in for my microwave and the company that came out was very good. It took about a week for them to come out. They could’ve come sooner but I wasn't gonna be here. But since it wasn't anything that you couldn't live without, it was okay. They had to order a part that needed to be replaced. I had to have them come back out because they didn't put the microwave in correctly. It was crooked. The framing around the microwave was the problem. But I couldn't tell that just from looking at it. So they came back out and they fixed it.

    I get very, very frustrated trying to get in touch with people at American Home Shield. I like to talk to a live person and you cannot do that when you call in. I do not like that at all. Most of the time, if there is something really broken that has to be replaced. Like one time, I had to have my hot water heater replaced and it ended up costing me $400 because they said I needed all this stuff. But later on, I found out that I didn't. They just needed to bring a new hot water heater and hook it up. There was another time with the hot water heater where they made me replace it. But there was actually nothing wrong, except the main breaker outside had flipped, and they didn't check that.

    The major thing that happened that made me get frustrated was the people that American Home Shield sent out were not always reputable people. For example, my heating system was not working right one time. The contractor told me it was the thermostat and they were gonna replace the thermostat. But they replaced the thermostat with a heat pump thermostat, and I don't have a heat pump unit. After that, I quit using American Home Shield for my air conditioning and heating. That's an expensive item that I would love to have covered by American Home Shield, but it seemed like whether it was air conditioner or heater, it never turned out to be good service.

    The service took a little while, but that's okay because I live in a small town. But the service that I got was wonderful. Asher was great. He has worked with me before.     The first time the contractor came, we thought we had the plumbing issue fixed. Then within a week, it was still being clogged. So the tech did the exact same thing. He put the auger in it and then he realized what was going on. The little flipper that goes up and down that holds water in wasn't tight enough. That was the reason why it was doing that. So he recalibrated that and it works fine now.

    American Home Shield does their job. But I hate to have to go to third parties. I assumed that they give you a list of places that you call as opposed to getting someone on the line. It's too much having to run around for me. Making the phone calls after American Home Shield makes the phone calls and people getting back with each other, as opposed to just direct calls to the company. When you put the information online, you get a number and the process takes too long. It's not a perfect system, but it's a business. They're trying to make money. I've mentioned to multiple people that they should get American Home Shield or some sort of similar type of insurance because it has been beneficial. There was only one time where they didn't help out much.

Somebody came out for the air conditioner, too. But the air conditioner was pretty old. They did fix it and got it running again, but we opted to put in a brand new unit. So, we went ahead and called somebody else and had them come in and put a new unit in. Then, this week, we had some type of a plumbing leak on the pool pump, so somebody came out and fixed that.     Our dryer wouldn't spin or turn the barrel, so we couldn't use it at all. I did a service request online and made the appointment. It got confirmed. When I submitted the claim, they asked what kind of issue and what model or brand of dryer it was. I told them and they said they would send Sears out. The technician got to our house at about 4:00 in the afternoon, took the dryer apart and put it back together. It was still having trouble and he decided we needed a new motor.

    He said he had one, but he had to go to another call. He left at 6:00, came back at 8:00, finished it and left at about 9:50 PM. I was told that a motor with labor would have been about $300. We paid the $100 fee to have him come to the house and that was it. The technician was persistent with our dryer and he fixed it. He was great. Our dryer is 15 years old and now, it runs perfect. We started with American Home Shield a year ago and we did not have to use it till then. It went well.

    We put in a service request with AHS for the heating in the house which was not working. We were getting air, but the air wasn't hot. Best Tech was the company that came in to do the repair and they diagnosed the issue. It appeared that the thermostat was not sending the signal to the unit and once they changed the thermostat, the unit started working.

    I submitted this claim through American Home Shield's portal and there was an issue at first. It was assigned to a different contractor and after three days, they gave a date that they would come in. But they did not honor that and didn’t come on that particular day. I even tried calling them, but I got no response. Later on, through American Home Shield, I heard that that initial contractor which was assigned, could not come in for another week. I told American Home Shield that it was something that we couldn't wait for so long because of the heat and that we needed a service sooner. And that's when American Home Shield assigned Best Tech to come out. Their techs resolved the problem and I was satisfied with them. AHS also did great and they have been prompt in reassigning the work order to a different company.

    So far, my experience with AHS has been positive. But depending on the type of service, sometimes it can vary, and the appliance contractors have not been the best. There are options for the heating or air conditioning, which helps in quickly reassigning the job if someone has not been doing things right or has been taking long.     About a third of my electricity had gone out. The techs that came were really great. They took care of the problem. It had to do with the box. They did a really good job and were very knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend them. Submitting a claim with AHS has been really easy. I just call up and tell them what the problem is and they write it up. The people call right away within 24 hours. I've had three claims. I only had one problem and that was with the washer. When the first tech got there, it needed a motor. The people who came were really great. They did a good job. The second people, with this COVID thing, they couldn't get the part and they wouldn't call me. I was really unhappy with them. So, I ended up canceling that. I lost my $100. I just went out and got another washing machine.

    I have a history with Home Shield that I've always had them and I never used them so I got rid of them. They lured me back so I did sign on with them. Then COVID hit and I didn’t have any money. They put me with their collectors. I resigned with them and started a new contract. They said that the old contract didn't matter anymore but they were still calling me.

    I had some people come out for the water 'cause I kept on hearing some kind of dripping going on. The first company Home Shield gave me was super-duper rude. The lady was arguing with me that they did call me and they did try to reach out to me. They didn't and there's no reason for me to lie. She was really horrible with me. I got to another person and they came out. The guy seemed like he was trying to find something wrong with my house so that way his business could come out and take care of it if it wasn't covered under Home Shield. I was listening and looking at him. I was not happy. I told him I have Home Shield because whatever needs to be addressed, it needs to be addressed with them. He kind of like suggested that they work in cahoots with each other.

    He shut off my water softener and the water running stopped. But later, I saw water on the wall. He said I need a regulator outside of my water system and Home Shield is not gonna cover me 'cause I don't have that. It was gonna be $1,000. I was really pissed off and shut the door on them. I didn't even bother calling them back. My experience with Home Shield has been horrible because with my first two tries using them after years of just putting money in they were horrible. But the last guy that came out was awesome. He fixed my refrigerator and my dishwasher panel.

    It's worth the effort to keep a line open but I would go exploring other companies besides Home Shield. Home Shield should put an extra effort to make sure that they are truly serving the customer. When things like this arise, that there is some kind of clear communication where we can give feedback immediately to Home Shield so they can become a better company. That's not set in there.

    I originally got Myers for a tune-up through Home Shield. When they came out, they said that they had to have some capacitors or something on there. Now, there was a little confusion because they said they were gonna come back to do that. Then after I contacted them the second time, they said, “Oh, you have to put in a new order.” No one had told me that. So, I had to put in a new order and pay Home Shield again for the contractor to come back to replace those capacitors. Submitting claims through Home Shield is a simple process. Communication is a problem though. I had called when my warranty expired, to renew it, and I talked to different agents, and I got like four different prices from them. So, I was confused as to what the price was gonna be. As long as you look at everything and everything is spelled out as to what a warranty actually does cover, which Home Shield did, it's a good idea to get a warranty.

    We had both the dryer and the water heater for years. American Home Shield wanted to repair the water heater, but we knew it couldn’t be repaired. They came back and they kept working on it, but it was like pulling teeth getting the work done. This is the service that we paid for that AHS would cover. For our heating and AC, the guy put a lock on it. Customer service wasn’t that great, so that was a bummer. It was like, “Okay, we’re paying to you, and you’re acting like we’re bothering you. But this is your job.” Those types of situations could be improved. Also, I have to wait for someone to call me back, or I have to call American Home Shield to say, “Hey, I have an appointment but no one's called to schedule an appointment.”

    We tried another home warranty company, but it didn't do half of what they said they did, but we were paying for it. That one didn't work and we found American Home Shield and tried it. We haven’t found anything else out there that was comparable with the same pricing. Also, it’s worked so far each time we’ve had to use it, so we kept it. They have come out for our washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, water heater and AC. I'm neither dissatisfied nor satisfied. We’ve had some good techs as well as some techs that were not so good come out. We’ve had issues resolved as well as issues where we had to wait a long time for them to be resolved. It’s been like, “Okay. We’re paying for it, so we’re going to use it.”

    I had an AC issue and the tech who came out was very professional. There were a couple of parts that he needed to change out, and he did. Now, it's working out fine. It's an old unit, but it will do for now. When I was submitting the claim through American Home Shield, I was on hold for a while. It was a little difficult to get through. But once I got through, it was pretty much simple.

    When I signed up with American Home Shield, the customer service people getting the account were very understanding and pleasing. Once you put the service calls through, there's a little bit of hesitance there. I don't know if they're not too knowledgeable of what's going on or if they got a little bit of like a resistance type of thing. But other than that, once I got that going, it was fine.

    From the time that I called to the actual callback from the service people, it was like two days later. As a matter of fact, I have an issue right now with a cast iron pipe. We have a leak in one of the houses, and it doesn't cover that. It took about a week in order to get somebody to call me to say that American Home Shield won't cover it. I don't have a problem if it's not covered, it's not covered. But it would be good if I can know ahead of time so I don't have my tenant waiting to use the bathroom. Other than that, everything else was pretty much okay. So, overall, I'll stay with it.

    Our upstairs bathroom shower stall was difficult to get the water turned all the way off. So sometimes you would turn it off and it would stop flowing. And sometimes you'd turn it off and it would just leak and drip. SDL Plumbing was dispatched and they came out when they were supposed to, where they were not very long and replaced everything. Now it turns on when you try to turn it on and it turns off when you turn it the other way like it's supposed to. I'm so happy.     I got up on a Friday morning and I had no power in the microwave. I checked everything and it didn't work. American Home Shield hooked me up with Arizona Value Appliance. I was going out of town for the weekend so we scheduled it a couple of days later. A young man came out and got here at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon. He got the face off the microwave and pulled the microwave out. He looked at the top. He took his meter out and he said that it was a cutout switch. He went out to his car and pulled out a cutout switch. He put it in and put two new spade connectors on. He then put the microwave back together. 30 minutes later, it's working like a charm. It was as good a service call as I've ever had. This young man knew exactly what he was doing and he didn't waste any time.

    This house is 19 years old. I've only been here a few. But when you lose a microwave, your chances of getting another one that's identical is nil. So you make some major changes to your cabinetry. I bought American Home Shield when we moved into this house in February of 2018. I've had occasions to use them three times and they've been great every time. We've been perfectly happy. That's why I've kept renewing the policy.

    The system from American Home Shield is good and they do it pretty efficiently. You call them and then they reach out to their preferred vendors. They send an email and tells me that this is the vendor that will be calling me and they give me the name and number. Their vendor has always called in an appropriate amount of time and the problem gets resolved. I would absolutely recommend them.

    I went online and at the time, there was a tune up special for winter to have the heating systems checked. I plugged in the request and in 48 hours, the techs were here. The scheduling process was very straightforward and when the techs were here, there were a couple filters that needed replacing, which we had and those got changed. Then beyond that, it was very routine and we had no problems. All in all, AHS has been more than fair and they never tried to cut corners or use cheaper materials. In fact, they’ve done more than I thought was required. We've used them on multiple occasions to have things that were broken or disabled replaced and there has never been an issue. Home warranties have been well worth the money and it's nice to have the security that you've got somebody that'll provide a vetted vendor to come in and do the work.     Overall, I always had great experiences with Home Shield. But the one before my last experience wasn't so great. I was having problems with my shower. It was dripping from the faucet. I called Home Shield and they took a little while to get back to me. Then they had a company come out and they installed everything. But they didn't install some pieces. I asked them why wouldn't they install the parts if these were something that Home Shield provided? So they went back and installed it. But they didn't install one of the pieces correctly because when they put the handle on to turn the faucet on, it kept falling off, and falling off, and falling off.

    They cut a hole in the wall to be able to access the panel. It’s called an access panel. But I already had a hole there. They said they couldn't use the panel that I had because there was a stud in it. So they cut another piece out. They said that they would relay the message to American Home Shield that they would have somebody come out, and call me, and fix it. But I never received a call yet and it’s been over four months right now.

    I've used American Home Shield a number of times in nine years and I've been very happy with the service. I'm a widow now, so it's real important for me to have someone I can trust to come out when I have to do things, and it's worth it. They assign somebody right away. If I don't want the people they assigned, I can tell them I want someone else. Or if the one they assigned can't get to me soon enough, then I can ask for someone else that can get to me sooner. Nothing has been problematic. They fixed my refrigerator and my microwave. My faucet broke twice and I got brand new. They have replaced my air conditioning unit. That took a long time, but it had to come from the manufacturer.

    The only thing I had an issue with was the claim for my washing machine. It's a Maytag front load and it was making a loud noise when it rotated. So I called someone to come out. The first person couldn't get to me for a week and a half so I asked for someone else. They sent me someone else. The guy that came out was kind of a quick in and out. It didn't do the loud noise when he ran some water in it a little bit. I didn't like him personally. He said, "Well, if it does it again, go ahead and call us again."

    As soon as he left, I put a load of light things in the washing machine and ran it and recorded it. I was gonna send the recording to them, but there was no way to do that. I put in the call and I said he didn't repair it. So then they sent the same person out. He said the isse was our shocks and that they've got to replace them. They had to order them, which took about a week. I learned that sometimes things don't always make the noise you want it to make when somebody else is doing it. But the guy was kind of a jerk. So I just recorded it on my phone. But that was not with American Home Shield. It was with the contractor. He came out and fixed it again. So we got it done.

    We raised a ticket and Appliance Tech came within few days. They found some of the parts need to be ordered and they ordered the parts. Then they came back in about a week and they fixed it. They saw some more issues and they ordered some more parts again. So, after two weeks of call, everything was resolved. They did a good job.

    American Home Shield said there would be only one deductible of $100 for all the appliance issues. But when we went online and tried to do it, it was only allowing four issues. It was not allowing to add anything more than that. It was really strange. It was not communicated in the beginning when I took the policy insurance. But after I called the customer care, it was sorted out and they included everything.

    The little box on the outside of the garage where you put the code in wouldn't respond. And with the clickers, it wouldn't respond. It just wouldn't open up. The door would open up by our inside door where there was a button on the wall that goes directly to it. But if we were outside, we couldn't open up the garage door. The guy from Gabriel's Garage Doors did a very good job. He was quick and efficient. I gave him the symptoms and he knew what the problem was before he even got here. When he came in, he had the part on the truck and replaced a motherboard that was probably bad. It took him five minutes and he was done. He's a nice guy.

    I've had American Home Shield for 30 years and I have several houses with it. So, to me, it's like an insurance policy that you pay for and you hope that you don't have to use it. But when you need it, it's good to have. It's good to be able to just make a phone call, pay 75 bucks or 100 bucks, depending on the deductible, and be done with it and have a professional come out. The only problem that I have with American Home Shield is that if I'm calling in for something and I need to talk to somebody, the wait time is really a long time sometimes. Sometimes I could wait 30 minutes on the phone to get somebody. But the last time I called, they picked up in like 10 seconds. So, it's really hit-or-miss. But usually, the people they send out are pretty good. I had situations where if they didn't get it right, they would send somebody else out if I didn't think it was right.

But the service was horrible. I had to call Home Shield again for the issue. But for the second time, it was simple. The guy who fixed it the first time never turned on the water, yet Home Shield charged me another $100 for them to come back out. I never used the dishwasher, and I was selling my home, so it was overall bad. I got charged $200 for something that should have been fixed the first time. They apologized, but I was outside my 30-day window by one day because they don't service on the weekends. I called before that 30-day window is up and they were like, "Well, it's a weekend, so you're out of that 30-day claim." They should not have double-charged me for a service that should have been corrected.

    I had one incident last year where I had a problem with the flue pipe to be lit with the thing. I told Home Shield that I didn't let the vendor do it because I didn't know exactly what they wanted me to do. It seemed like they wanted me to pay them. They said that I should never pay the vendor. I should always pay them. They would tell me what it was after the vendor gave them the details. I was a little uncomfortable talking to the vendor. They kept talking about money to me.

    I've already had somebody to do some other work and they never asked me anything about it. The only thing they told me was certain things around the air conditioning that weren't included in the 60 bucks. However, when considering the work that they did, that was peanuts. When the vendor was telling me about repairing a unit and giving me the price of $2,200 and talking about this and that, it makes no sense to me what I'm paying for that service to get that done. If that's the case, I can do it myself.

    It was one that my son is in the business and he solved the problem with me over the phone. It was actually a wire that was loose and got fixed in 15 minutes versus this $2,200 price from the vendor. I told American Home Shield that sometimes they have to check their vendors out. If the vendor is telling me stuff like that, American Home Shield has to pay. If they're gonna pay, they should make sure they're paying something that's legitimate and not just feeding somebody's pocket. I told them that I don't wanna deal with that vendor anymore because of the way that they wrote stuff up and the amount of money.

    Recently I filed two claims. One worked on the stove. One worked on the unit. The job that was done was straight out professional. They didn't waste any time. They told me exactly what was needed. They ordered the parts. It took a little bit of time to get all the stuff. But once it came in, they came back. The thing was put back together. They did everything that was necessary to get the thing done. It looked like it was factory.

    I'm satisfied with Home Shield. I like the service workers that came out, their attitude, and their willingness to want to fix something. One was really disappointed that he didn't have the stuff to fix the one thing on the truck that he normally has and I saw that it bothered him. That's dedication right there. I like that because I'm that way. I felt like they did the same thing on two occasions when they came out here. I'm almost an advertiser for Home Shield. My brother, sister, and cousins got it because I said that what I got from Home Shield was phenomenal.

    The first process was hard because I called for a contractor to come out to clean the furnace and the air condition system in May, but I cancelled. But Home Shield had in their system that Masters came and did it. So, I had to run back and forth about that. They finally got it straight, and I got somebody to come out within 24 hours. He was very professional and he cleaned up everything. I will recommend Home Shield.

    The furnace had been off all summer and the gas did not get up into the unit itself. It wouldn't ignite. I logged on online to submit the claim and then paid the co-pay on it. They arranged the service and the kid was here within five hours of my entering it. He went up in the attic to where the furnace is installed and ran diagnostics on it and got it lit. He fixed it within an hour of being here. It's been doing just fine.

    I love American Home Shield. They know customer service and how to keep people happy. I had a refrigerator go out and the outcome wasn't good, but it wasn't their fault. Having a home warranty protects you against having to take a whole bunch of money out of your pocket. I got mine because I'm in a house that was built in 2005. We're in an area where it gets very hot. I know that the air conditioners do go and when it goes, that's $7,000. I'd rather pay my $45 a month. I appreciate having a company that actually does what they say they're gonna do.

    American Home Shield has been beneficial and I feel good about it. Doing service requests online is so easy. I love that. I have two AC units in my house, and both of them went out. It was hot. On one of the units, the issue was the thermostat, and the other one, I ended up having to get a whole new unit. The longest part was waiting for the parts for the thermostat to get in, which was a week. Once the contractor came, it took two hours for them to put it in the unit. I came home on my lunch break, and shortly after, my lunch break was over and it was done.

    We were having problems with our heater. It would not cycle on and off by itself. I went to American Home Shield’s website and turned the claim in directly with them. It went smoothly from there. It was on a Saturday and I did not hear from the contractor until Monday. They showed up Tuesday morning. So, it took about four days for them to come out but that was with the weekend. So, it wasn't too bad. They were amazing. They ended up having to come back three times on the same call and everything's working great now.     If you get a brand-new house, you might be covered under some warranties. But if it's not new, I would recommend getting a home warranty. I have one with AHS and I don't mind submitting my claims with them on the internet. But their website doesn't have a lot of free from in terms of letting the customer say what the problem really is. You just have to pick the best one and when the vendor calls, it might be different. Other than that, when we had a toilet clog recently, they sent out Mann Plumbing & Drain Cleaning and they resolved it.

    Getting service scheduled is a little tough through Home Shield. And talking to people on the phone was difficult, too. Also, being on the same page as far as telling them how irritated I was with trying to schedule people to come out. I wanted the same company to come out. But for some reason, they couldn't get them to come out. So, I had to call the company myself. Dawson told me that they were so booked. Their slots are blocked off visually through Home Shield. So, that was probably the issue. And then, they were able to contact Home Shield and do some type of switching around so that they could come back out. It seemed silly for me to have a new company come out and fix a problem that the old company already knew about and diagnosed. That was the only issue that I had. I thought it wasn't the best flow. But Dawson was awesome. I enjoyed them.

    The sink was backed up from the road to the house. Water & Drainworks came out and unstopped it. They were gone. Very little time. They did a great job. In the past, we've had a long wait to get to somebody. This last time, it was handled right away. With my refrigerator claim, it took me three months to get a new one. American Home Shield was trying to make sure that it couldn't be repaired. That was a little frustrating, but other than that, they eventually had my refrigerator replaced. Overall, it's worth it.

    You don't know if American Home Shield is gonna cover a claim or not when something breaks. When they do cover, they do a good job. They checked my central air and heater. Another time I called, it was a plumbing job and they did a good job on it too. But I called them five or six times during the year and for half of the cases, I would pay my copay and the contractors would come but wouldn't do anything because it was not covered.

    When you call them, it's a terrifically a long wait. Even if you do get through and you explain what's going on, they're not telling you precisely that they do not cover the issue. I had a problem with the shower and it specifically says in the contract that they do not cover showers. But I was new homeowner and I'm busy. It's really small letters and my vision is not really good. I did call them and they didn't explain it to me so I paid a copay and the contractor came but didn't do anything. They just pulled it apart and made a big hole in my ceiling trying to check it. I had to pay $1,000 to fix it. The second time, it was the air conditioning. I told them it's a window unit. I paid a copay and the contractor came to say they do not cover window units. I'm not getting American Home Shield for next year. If you're good with saving money, save the money and just hire somebody to do the job.

    I had a plumbing issue and when I showed the technician the video, he knew what the problem was. I also turned on the water for him so he could see it and he said, it was an easy fix." He said the screws just needed to be tightened. He tightened up everything for me and he also checked everything for me to make sure there were no holes in the sink. He was an excellent guy.

    When I put the work order in online, I had to contact American Home Shield to see what took them so long. They need to respond quicker to the work order when they have someone put it online. But overall, I enjoy the service. I have talked to other companies that is particularly similar to American Home Shield. They said bad things about American Home Shield because they want customers to leave them. But I feel comfortable with American Home Shield.     The freezer was not getting cold and the back water part was leaking. The guy came in and tested it. He explained what possibly could go. He was saying that it was more likely the compressor which is something he didn't do. He said that he was going to put in his report but that someone else who dealt with the compressor would more likely have to come out. Once DC Repair submitted what they found, I got an email saying Atlantic, the next company, would contact me.

    Filing a claim with American Home Shield is easy and the response is quick even when I call on the phone. Overall, it's a good experience but some stuff when I'm reading isn't covered and my monthly fee is going up. That gets kind of frustrating when I'm paying $63 a month but some stuff isn't covered or it's not covered till it breaks type thing. That part is annoying. With this, the good thing is they did have 30 days to reopen that claim without paying again. The refrigerator is clicking and they sent the guy back out from Atlantic.

    Our washer wasn't working and I was given a specific date by American Home Shield on when to expect the repair guys. Sears showed up at that date and at the time specified. They tried to figure out why the washer wasn't working and they were able to identify it quickly. The drum wasn't turning it on. There were some other parts that were messed up in it. It was recommended that the appliance be replaced. We ordered the washer from Home Depot and it finally came in on November 11th.     Stay far away from American Home Shield. As soon as you have a claim they deny it and you have to jump through hoops to get someone that can take care of the problem. After two weeks, two separate appointments and hours waiting on the phone to reach someone, they will not help you and just keep referring to the section of your contract. This company is a fraud. I immediately canceled my contract, the associate Janice did not mention a Administrative Fee for Cancellation, which is another monthly payment. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau as well as Consumer Affairs. Terrible company to deal with.

    After complaints on social media, here & Facebook, a social media specialist got in touch with me. She was very kind and resourceful and she found better contractor for me for Washer issue I was having (similar issues with the incompetent contractors I was getting assigned). In the end, I received cash-in-lieu for my Dishwasher and Washer was properly fixed. I'm increasing the rate for AHS to 3 star because how the social media specialist helped me out. I wish all of AHS phone reps are like her... if that was the case, I would have renewed the service with AHS. However, based on my experience, I decided not to renew the service. For most of people, I don't think home warranty is worth the trouble. I rather save up the monthly for a rainy day and replace appliances on my own.

    Original Review: Nov. 13, 2020

    Don't waste your money or time with this company. They will find every way to refuse to replace your appliance even though it could not be fixed in 6 months, 8 visits from 3 different Contractors, and 5 different technicians. Contractor will say "AHS needs to make a decision" and never submit a replacement request even though they know it cannot be fixed. It's like contractors are afraid to submit a replacement request like they penalized by AHS if they do. If I talk to an agent, all they say is "a request has to submitted by the contractor". It's a never ending cycle. Below is a detailed recollection of what I went through and going through. I plan to file a complaint to BBB & Consumer Affairs & keep posting my issue everywhere I can until they resolve to my satisfaction.

    ○ Service Request: ** (closed as Complete). § 5/14: Submitted a service request. UKON APPLIANCE REPAIR INC was assigned. § 5/22: Leo, Ukon technician, visited. After approximately 15 mins, the technician diagnosed Float Switch as the cause. Replacement part to be ordered. (Visit #1). § 6/4: Received text notification that the order part arrived. § 6/12: Leo, Ukcon technician, performed replacement of the Float Switch. Leo confirmed dishwasher is still leaking. Diagnosed that the inner door seal needs to be replaced. (Visit #2).

    § 6/14: Follow up service by the Ukon to replace Inner Door Seal. § 6/30: Notified that the Inner Door Seal arrived. § 7/3: Leo, Ukon technician arrived to replace the Inner Door Seal. Leo left without confirming the leaking issue has been fixed. The service request was closed as Complete. Later it was confirmed it was still leaking. (Visit #3). § 7/7: Submitted a follow-up service request. § 7/8: Tony, a senior technician from Ukon was assigned. § 7/10: Tony came to diagnose and determined additional parts were needed. (Visit #4). § 7/13: Received an email from AHS that parts have parts has been ordered. ○ Service Request: ** (closed as Complete).

    § 7/14: Received an email from AHS that Ms Appliance Service has been scheduled for 7/16. No explanation was provided neither from Ukon nor AHS. § 7/16: Edward from Ms Appliance Service came and diagnosed that there is no mechanical issue and blaming the leak is caused by an incorrectly leveled dishwasher which he could not fix due to space limitation. (Visit #5). ○ Service Request: ** (canceled). § 7/24: Submitted a follow-up request. Seeing Ms Appliance Service being assigned, quickly canceled. ○ Service Request: ** (closed as Complete). § 7/31: Called to talk to AHS agent to get a different service company. Assigned to ASH Appliance. § 8/7: Ernie from ASH Appliance came to diagnose. Determined motor and some parts were leaking. (Visit #6).

    § 8/25: Received email from AHS that the parts were ordered (more than 2 weeks after the diagnostics). § 10/2: Ernie came with Dishwasher parts while visiting to diagnose Washer's issue (Service Request **). Ernie left without confirming the leak is fixed. The leak was confirmed that evening. (Visit #7). ○ Service Request: **. § 10/5: Submitted another follow-on request. § 10/14: Ernie came by with an additional part that is to be installed inside the Dishwasher. However, he said he doubts it will fix the issue and will make a suggestion to replace. (Visit #8).

    ○ Service Request: ** (Agent Tryon Cancelled). § 10/24: Submitted another follow-on request to document that the Dishwasher still has a leaking issue. § 10/26: Called AHS, agent stated they are waiting for information from the contractor. § 10/30: Called AHS, agent stated to me team that authorize replacement has not decided yet. The agent promised to follow up and give me a call, but he never called me. § 11/2: Called AHS, agent stated to me team that authorize replacement has not decided yet. The agent promised to follow up and give me a call, but he never called me. § 11/5: Called AHS, agent Tyron told me what contractor submitted was not a request for a replacement. It stated that Ernie suspects that "Part replaced would not resolve the leak issue on Dishwasher and that he recommends Maytag specialist should diagnose the issue".

    Seeing how many times service requests were submitted and technicians visited, he said he will submit a request to the team and the team will make decisions with 24 to 48 hours. Since he is submitted a replacement request, he stated he'll cancel the request. § 11/9: Called AHS, the agent stated no decision has been reached by the team and there is a delay due to COVID. The agent promised to follow up and give me a call, but never called me.

    § 11/11: Called AHS, the agent stated she needs to call ASH Appliance to find out the details. Knowing what Tyron stated to me, I demanded her to find out if a request for replacement has been submitted. She stated there was no request for replacement submitted. She ended up calling ASH Appliance, but since they are closed already, she followed up with an email to them to submit a detailed explanation. ○ Service Request: ** (opened). § 11/12: Submitted another follow-on request to document the same issue and I demand it to be properly fixed or approve a replacement. This is what I went through for Dishwasher. I'm very concerned about what I'll have to go through to get my Washer properly fixed.

    I got the American Home Shield coverage on a rental condo. The resident reported that there was water leaking out of the hot water heater into the pan. So we called them and the guy came out. The tech determined that the relief valve on top of that water heater was the issue. Somehow water was being leaked out of that into the pan. He replaced the pressure relief valve and said that should do it. So far, I haven't heard anything from the resident that it is still leaking.

    When I first signed up with American Home Shield, I was worried that if I did have an issue that they might delay it. But it worked fine. There weren't any big delays. The tech came out the next day. We were very happy with it. I've had years of good experience with AHS. Back in 2008, we had the home warranty in our home in Jupiter, Florida. It got an air conditioning problem and they took care of that too.

    I had a claim a couple of months ago with my microwave and they replaced it real fast for me. They did a real good job. When I had a leak in my refrigerator, the gentleman came out. It was leaking from the freezer side. He replaced the heating unit and everything worked fine. He was here last week and then a couple of days ago, it started leaking again. So the part that he put in there was defective. Now, this one is leaking from the refrigerator side. But I've already turned the claim in and he's supposed to be here tomorrow or the next day. The last guy was really good. He did a great job. It wasn't his fault. It's just something else that needs to be done to it that wasn't visible at the time he was here.     The Heat and Air Company came for a wall unit of mine that was making some really odd noises. They ordered the parts needed on the 25th of August after they came out and when the parts came in, it was a wrong order. So, we had to wait again to get things going. In the meantime, it was a lot of headache going back and forth 'cause the contractor said they couldn't get a hold of the parts department. He contacted us and I got involved trying to call American Home Shield.

    When I call their 800 number, it takes forever to get a live person. Secondly, when I talk to someone, I get a script on how the parts have been ordered, that I should rest assured that they will take care of my issue and that someone will call me back. I asked twice to speak to a manager but I never got a callback. I called AHS 10 times and it was very frustrating to be given the same information over and over by different representatives. I placed this claim on August 5th and we just got it done a week ago. The vendor was fine but I'm dissatisfied with dealing with AHS.

    The work was on a refrigerator. I got a contractor right away when I filed the online claim. Express Appliance was good. They were busy so it took them so long to get here. But once they got here, they wore masks and were professional, efficient and proficient. They fixed the refrigerator the first time but they didn't correct what was done because the refrigerant was leaking out and they put in more refrigerant. Then in about two weeks, that ran out. They have to do a special job on it too. They found a leak and to correct it, they had to do something else and it had to be approved by American Home Shield to finance the appliance.

So, I'm still waiting for that to be approved. It's taking too long for me because the contractor notified Monday and it has not been approved since then and it's Friday now. I've been without a refrigerator for three weeks. I had to purchase a small refrigerator to keep some products that need refrigerated. Also, we were eating out just about every day because we couldn't store anything that needed to be refrigerated. The first experience I had with American Home Shield was great when something broke down or went off. But after this experience, I'm leery myself.

    Before I got American Home Shield, my AC unit had totally conked out before summer really started and I literally had to pay about $7,000 just to put in a new AC unit. I never wanna do that again. I got American Home Shield so I don't have to worry about outstanding cost and all that for people coming in and trying to take care of my home needs. When it comes to the website, they basically have a whole listing on what could go wrong in your house. It allows me to see that I have this problem with this certain thing. I just had to click on the buttons and send it to them. When it comes to the app, it's very easy. Even if when the repair person comes here is a little bit off, they always have a way of figuring it out. When I put down for my last service, I said that my thermostat was not connecting with my heater.

    The contractor was trying to get our heater working. When they came to alter the wiring, there were no wires that were leading from the thermostat downstairs to the boiler room. When they checked the heater, they only saw it on two wires that were connected. I figured this heater is a two-zone one and those two wires that they found leads to the thermostat upstairs and bedroom areas. They found out that from the thermostat that's here on the second floor, it wasn't going down to the heater, which was odd in itself. They wanted me to buy a new thermostat that basically had Wi-Fi capability. Unfortunately, I had an operation last week, so I had to delay it for a bit.

    The contractor sent out was a little bit frustrating because every time he would go down to try to find the wires to the heater, he said he couldn't find it. We don't need our heat as of now because it's been quite warm here. When I get my next paycheck, I'm planning to get that Wi-Fi thermostat, and then they will be able to install it into the heater. Then, we'll just leave the other thermostat that we have connected with the AC unit that's upstairs.

    I had an issue with the hot water heater previously. It was my understanding that the part that was brought to put in there was defective. Unfortunately, I ended up being without hot water for two weeks. But that wasn't anybody's fault. Recently, I got an offer from American Home Shield to have them come and check my heater. Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating was sent out and looked at it. The guy cleaned things out and showed me different things to do. He was great. I would definitively and have recommended putting American Home Shield in place.     Overall, American Home Shield has been great. Filing a claim is fairly easy. I tend to use the mobile app and go through that route. However, I'm not a fan of some of the providers so I'll call in and ask for them to give me someone different but to get in contact with them this year has been hard. I imagine it's because of COVID or they didn't have the bandwidth to support the number of calls they were getting in at that timeframe.

    My AC unit went out completely and I submitted a claim for it. When the contractor came out and assessed the situation, they didn’t tell me upfront that what they have identified as the items that they needed would take time to be shipped. Having to go back and forth with them to identify a timeline wasn’t the best experience. I live here in Florida and it’s rather hot on top of having to work from home during the pandemic.

    I’ve also had multiple issues with this unit and I would think that American Home Shield would wanna replace it based off their contract. However, they did not want to replace it. I just took the liberty to come out of my own pocket and replaced my entire unit inside and out. The only thing they gave me was the value of that particular item that needed to be replaced that they still didn’t have a timeline as to when it would be received. I got roughly $350.

    Because I ended up replacing my entire unit, I did submit a complaint to them letting them know that I was not pleased and that they should have handled it a little bit differently. They should have replaced my unit instead of me having to come out-of-pocket but I didn’t hear anything back from it. But that would be my one time where I have not been pleased with American Home Shield. When it comes to big ticket items, they don't live up to their contract. They tend to negate or run around the bush a little bit and avoid any of those big ticket items which kind of falls back on us customers. We're paying a monthly fee and we really don't get the full benefit when it comes to the big ticket items. All other times, it’s been a good experience other than them raising their monthly fees for their subscription.

    I called American Home Shield and got a repair order for the garage door motor that was defective. The process was very difficult. The first person I talked to walked through 1-2-3-4-5-6 steps then went ahead. I needed to give American Home Shield the $100 deductible so I went ahead and gave him my credit card details then he disconnected me. So, I've already got $100 deductible on my credit card and he was gone. I didn't know anything else.

    About 10 minutes later, I called in. It was another representative and I started the process all over again. The second representative said, “We need to charge your credit card $100.” I had a problem with that because I've already given the first representative the money and the second representative was a little bit forceful in terms of telling me as a customer “If you don't pay for the claim, you're out of business. We're not gonna send anybody and it's your fault.” I said, “You’re supposed to have a recorded line that this conversation took place.” The rep said, “Mr. **, we don't have any information. This is the first time you've called.”

    I said, "Since I’m the customer and I’ve jumped through all the hoops with your company, I want you to talk to somebody who has the authority to not have me pay the $100 on this repair. Because in a month or so when my bill comes, it's gonna show two $100 charges to American Home Shield. Now, I have to go with my credit card company and tell them I need to cancel one of them.” This guy said, "I'm gonna have to put you on hold for a little while.”

    After about 40 minutes I made a phone call again and it was the first representative. I told the second guy, “Do not disconnect me. Hold on.” I go to the first guy and asked what happened but he didn't reply. He just said, “This is your work order number, **, and there will be a contractor that will call you." I said, “Hold on. I was talking to the second representative and one of you two are kind of not very professional because the second guy told me that when he was checking at his screen, he said I had never called.” The first guy told me he went ahead and put in the information.

    The second guy was waiting and I said, “I need you to refresh my information on the computer and see if I called the first time.” He said he saw it. That really upsets me as a customer. I shouldn't be the supervisor at the call center trying to have the call center understand what's going on. When I was disconnected the first time, that guy should have stopped what he was doing and started to call me immediately. I don’t know how long it was but I got it taken care of. The contractor came to my house and I was very impressed with him. It doesn't make any difference in the scheme of things that whether I was one customer or I use five with American Home Shield, which I do, but the prudent thing to do would be to refund my $100 and say, “We are so sorry that this happened.” But they're not gonna do that because that's just the way that is.

    American Home Shield was on the house when I bought it. I’ve paid for the policy since then and it's been a good buy for me. I kept AHS because I have an older house. I had the water heater go out when I first came. I like AHS and I've been very happy and content with them. They respond very quickly and I’m familiar with the vendors they use. These are local people and they always do a nice job. Whenever I have a claim, I call and it's one of those, “Are you doing this? Are you doing that?” And I push the button. They ask for either my birthdate or my address. The process is quite simple. I talk to somebody and they tell me someone would contact me within 24 hours and they always have when I've had a problem. Shields Plumbing was one of the contractors I had. They're very smart and their guy knows me. In three years, I’ve had them over thrice. There’s something that goes wrong between here and the sewer.

    American Home Shield has done everything they promised. I was having some issues with my dryer not cycling to the heating cycle. It wouldn't start, so I called and talked to a representative. They also have the online option, but I had not set that up yet. For me, it was easier to call and talk to someone. When I called, they were experiencing a heavy call volume, so instead of waiting on hold, I was given the option for a callback. Their system recorded my number, and then they called me back in the expected time frame and got me set up with an appointment quickly.

    I just wanted the American Home Shield brand name because I heard of them before. I’d be leery of somebody that I don't have a background on. I bought the warranty shortly after I moved into the house because I didn't know the history of the house. I didn't know the owners and I wanted to protect myself. So far, I've been very pleased with my home warranty.

    When I moved into the house, the ceiling fans didn't work. One would occasionally work but it sounded old and rattily. People from Mayer Electric and they were very prompt. They inspected the problems and found that we needed new fans. We set up a time for the service people to come back. They came back and fixed the fans. They were great about it.

    Submitting claims with American Home Shield is very simple. It's online and you can call in too. I put in another one on Saturday for a microwave. You go online and there is a dropdown for everything. It asks if it is about an appliance and if so, what kind. It also asks about the model number too then you submit afterward. I got a call today from them on that.

    The only thing with American Home Shield was on the second time I've put in a request for service, it wasn't promptly looked at or responded to. It was a water leak so I couldn't wait. I had to manage it myself. But from the fine print that I read, the claim was not something that was under warranty. That being said, if somebody sends in a request for a water leak, they should look after it immediately.

Sometimes there's a need to further explain things or I want to get the reassurance that something is being taken care of. It's not often as easy to do things online as it is to call, but when I phone American Home Shield, I'm often on hold for a very long time and then I get someone I can't understand. At times, I have hung up and called back hoping I get a different person.

    I'd like people who don't have such thick accents on the other end of the phone. I often struggle to understand their accent. It's very difficult. I don't want anyone to lose their job, but I don't know what the answer is. On the other hand, the contractors have been fine.     I've had to use AHS a couple of times and I'm glad I had it. But I had to wait on hold a long time to get through to a service rep when I had a claim for my dishwasher. When the tech came out, he was excellent. He said he was going to submit the request that day and that I should give him a call if I didn't hear from American Home Shield. But when I called asking for a service status, I got the recording so I just gave him my account number. I received a message that said, "You have two.” One of them was for a washer back in a long time ago and then the second one has been canceled. I almost had a fit right on the phone. I finally got ahold of somebody but I could hardly understand her. I'm wearing hearing aids but her accent was so, so pronounced. I had a real hard time. I mentioned that to her too and she apologized that she's been having complaints about that.

    The second time I called, I punched number one and asked for a callback and I got it from Jeff. I was very, very happy with him today. He spoke perfect English. He did an excellent job for me. He even called the contractor because he had not received his assessment. The dishwasher needs to be replaced. It's been over 20 years old and the motor's shot. It can't be repaired. They had not gotten his report yet today. But Jeff said if it comes in today, he will call me, and if he doesn't until tomorrow, he will call me back again tomorrow. He was very, very helpful. He answered all my questions. He made a couple of phone calls to the contractor and got things squared away for me.

    The tech that did the tune-up was very thorough and did a great job. There was a crack and he said that carbon monoxide could escape from that. I had a service prior to that where that was the concern. He said it had cracked even more. He took all the things off and showed me where there was even more rust in the cracks. I called American Home Shield. Initially, there was an issue because they then wanna give me to a whole another company, and I was like, “No. We're not going that route.” I was able to stick with Frog Pro, and they came in and replaced the furnace, and everything's worked out pretty good. I had to call them back and they came very quickly to address the concern I had. So, thus far, everything's worked out very well.

The person I spoke with didn't speak English too well and I was a little confused about whether or not the services would even be covered but she was friendly. The tech was very timely, professional and clean. I'm still doing some service requests with AHS, so it remains to be seen whether or not they cover everything that it seems like they should. But based on this experience, I would recommend AHS.

    I had a double oven and the thermostat on both of them was not working. It would heat up, and then the temperature would drop 100 degrees. Supposed you had something in it that was cooking, it never got done. But it was fixed. The guy did a good job. American Home Shield has a pretty simple claim submission process. They're overpriced though. And on major appliances, they're not willing to replace them like they should. I have a friend that’s involved in a dispute with them right now. They refused to replace an air conditioner, and it really bothers me because I have one that is very old. If I'm gonna be paying monthly fees for them to cover things and then they don't cover something that's big, I'm not happy with them at all. With smaller things, a couple of times, it would have saved money if I had just gone directly to the repair person.

    Making a claim with AHS was very easy. The contractor contacted me for the scheduling, so I didn't have any problem there and the techs showed up on time. They were very thorough, gave us everything we needed, and were gone in a very short amount of time. They said everything was fine, the system was working correctly, and to just do another another springtime checkup when it was time to do the air rather than the heat. Other than that, we had a bad experience with another provider. It was a plumber so it was a different issue. AHS should have a better vetting process with the companies that they contract with. But despite that, we haven't had any issues with AHS and the service is worth some money. We would have paid a lot more out of pocket for the work that we've had done than the deductible that we pay when somebody comes out. So I would suggest the warranty to anybody, especially if they're buying an older home.

    I had a claim to American Home Shield for an AC issue. Crispy Air & Heating was sent out and they said there was a failure in the coil. It took them about a week to fix, but that was because they had to order the replacement coil. So, to the best of my knowledge, they responded in a timely manner, considering they were a little bit held up to this day and age by parts. Everybody's having parts issues. Other than that, everybody in this day and age is short of talented craftspeople and so, sometimes, that's an issue. But the last few times, they've sent good folks. They've been congenial, attitudes have been good, and they fixed the issue, and went about their business. When the contractor came and worked on my air conditioning out here, we were still in the high 90s, low 100s. That's never fun to be working out in that. But they had pleasant attitudes, did their job, and got in and got out.

    I've been a member of American Home Shield since I bought this home, which is over five years, and I've called them thrice. The latest one was for doing a furnace checkup. The technician did a nice job and the price was reasonable. It was a quite positive service. I did not have the same experience when I called with a problem. The first one was with my pool. I paid the deductible and the technician came out. They spent five minutes looking at it. They said that it was an outside product and there were some mice in the area, and they don't cover anything that's been in and around rodents. So, they refused completely to serve us on that case. The next time I called was because one of my air conditioners broke. It took 60 days to resolve. So, I would give AHS an absolute zero on both of those occasions.

    I am not entirely certain that I would recommend the service of AHS to others based on the times that I've needed to use them and the amount of effort it's taken on my part to get them to do it. I had a competing service on the home prior to this one and that was much better. The deductible was $60, which was lower, and if there was a problem, it was 99% covered. There was one time when they could not cover much because the system just broke but there was one part of it where it wasn't taken care of appropriately. So, I was quite happy with the competing service. When I buy my next home, I will buy a service product like AHS but I'll probably look for another one.

    Our furnace wasn't blowing hot air. It was a chilly time, but the contractor that Home Shield used was great. I used Home Shield's online process then somebody got in contact within 24 hours. The tech from Leo Smith came the same day, looked at it and fixed it. And then the next morning, it was doing the same thing. Andrew left me his card. I called him up and he suggested I just unplug the furnace and plug it back in. I did and it started working again. We had a talk about some parts that might need replacing because I was worried, coming into winter, that it might be a chronic problem.

    There was a part that had accumulated some ash. Andrew said he was able to shake it out there and not have to buy the new part. But it might be the same problem so we were watching it. The unit has come back on several times now. He said if it went out again, just give him a call. He was responsive. The morning that it wasn't working before we realized that it came back on just fine, he offered to bring me some space heaters.

    It was also through Home Shield that we had our freezer looked at and repaired. The freezer has ongoing issues, and both Home Shield and a prior warranty folks use the same people. It just so happened that this time, the contractor came out and fixed it better than before. And the experience with filing or opening the claim was a piece of cake. Great price and easy to use.

But they outsource their calls and it was frustrating talking to people that sounded like robots instead of talking to somebody that you could talk normally to. I was trying to get the girl to understand what it was that I needed fixed and she kept asking me where underneath it was leaking. But I told her five times that I didn't know where it was leaking. Other than that, she was pleasant and trying to be very professional. Everything went great, too.

    Also, AHS referred me to one company first and I didn't like them at all. They didn't come out to the house and we never even moved forward after the first phone call.     My AC unit was freezing over and it wasn't blowing any cool air. I went online and filed my claim. American Home Shield's website was very easy to use. Within 24 hours, I was to receive a call but I received it earlier. Guys from Butler's HVAC Service came out. I got a range of three hours for when the tech would be coming. They texted me 30 minutes out before he came. When he got there, he checked out everything and told me that was going on. Everything was good to go. But I had to call again because there was an issue the first time. That was corrected but the tech couldn't duplicate what had happened. It was one of those fluke things. The issue happened again so the tech is on the way out again today.

    I got American Home Shield due to word of mouth. When I got the house just rented, it was a good company to go with.     My furnace wasn't working and I didn't have any heat. I have a brain tumor so my body temperature drops below normal quickly, so the heat was important to me. American Home Shield said that they would take the claim right away and someone should be calling me. About 30 minutes later, they had a person that they had sent my claim. They called me right away and sent someone out that day.

    The first tech who came out didn't know what he was doing. He took my whole furnace apart just to tell my husband that he wouldn't work on two-stage furnaces. The second company came out about five days later because American Home Shield did not contact me and tell me that someone else had to come out. I had to contact AHS and they told me that Pro Tech would be out. I called Pro Tech and they got the claim. They came out within 30 minutes. He looked at it and he said that he had to order a part. So, I didn't hear anything that day. It was on a Friday. So when Monday came around, I called them and they informed me that they were waiting for the warranty company. After a week, they told me that they ordered the part and it'd be another two weeks. So, I was without heat for quite a bit and I actually ended up back in the hospital. I was very sick.

    Had the temperature been below zero, my family and I would have died because it took way too long. But it was some extremely cold days and we actually had to pay for a hotel for over a week. I'm homebound and it takes about six paramedics to help me get out of the house. With the way that this house is made, I can't just go up and leave on my own. It’s very hard to get in and out. So when the colder days came, if I stayed in here, I would have died.

    I called Pro Tech again and told them that I had to have heat. It wasn't that cold at first but we had some pretty cold days. That was why I ended up back in the hospital. Finally, the part came in. They tried to come and put it on the same day, but it was late. The office closed 10 minutes later. So they came early the next day and they popped the part right in the furnace.

    The tech told me that the furnace was working but it wasn't getting hot. I noticed that after five days because those were warmer days but it was cold to me because of my brain condition. It wasn't getting warm so I called Pro Tech back. By this time, it was a colder day coming up. So they came out and then the tech went downstairs. Then all of a sudden, he said that he needed to check the thermostat. That was something that they never did, to check the upstairs thermostat. The thermostat was set on auto and it needed to be set right. So once they set the thermostat right, everything was fine. The dispatch lady is very nice and very helpful. She did her best to try to get things going quickly. American Home Shield helped my family eventually. Overall, it's a good company. Without it, I couldn't afford to fix the furnace. But they need to use express shipping on the part because two weeks is too long to be without a furnace.

    I had an issue with the stove so I called my insurance and they contracted Sears to replace the top. When they came to replace the part, they broke another part when they were installing it back. When they put it back together, one of the corners cracked. I called American Home Shield and they sent Sears. And Sears said that I have to call my insurance back. They gave me an appointment for tomorrow morning. Sears is coming back but their guy said that it was cosmetic and it is not affecting the performance of the appliance. I said that I didn’t care if it was cosmetic or not but it wasn't like that before they came. I don't care who pays because I have my home insurance but somebody needs to replace that part.     We had a backup in our basement that was coming out of our sewer drain. We just had our Sewer Lateral Program, cleaning out and making sure everything from our sewer lines to our foundation of the house was unobstructed with anything and they replaced any broken pipe, so it was surprisingly odd for us to have a backup. When the techs came out, they took a look at everything. They cabled through the line to see what was causing the blockage. They found what that blockage was and identified the fact that likely it was something that our county's Sewer Lateral Program really should have repaired in the work order that we just had done.

    The tech was very adept at letting us know what was going on. He was extremely gifted and gave us some feedback and input about our drain line. He even gave us some good points in terms of the steps we should take with our county to ensure that we don't have this problem again, especially since they were supposed to have performed different work that did not get performed for us. So he was a bit of an advocate in that regard and gave us a little pointer here or there about how to proceed after he'd made his repair.

    The person that came out has been out here so many times before when we'd had various different plumbing issues. He's always been very good, very prompt, very active and proactive in taking care of the problem, as well as making any suggestions that we need to happen to prevent anything from hurting our plumbing again. So it was a very good experience overall.

    The claims process has been very seamless and pretty simple. American Home Shield has always really been pretty punctual and prompt in getting back to us and making sure that we get aligned with whatever service provider we need. They do follow up with us if there has been a problem. But it's not often that we run into problems with the contractors that they use. But if you tell the staff that your husband's number is the one to call, they should make sure that they have that number and that they're following that pathway so that you do get everything that you need set up.

    We've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years. If you're somebody who doesn't have a lot of spare cash all the time to fix major things that can go wrong, you worry about that. But having American Home Shield, I don't worry about it that much and that's worth a lot to me. I'm trying to do better, but it helps that I know that that’s covered. 90% of the time, I'm very happy with them.

    There was one situation where they were gonna have to do a bunch of work to upgrade my water heater to a new code and to get it replaced. It would be good if they would cover the whole replacement, like if the code is changed 'cause part of the warranty is to avoid unforeseen major costs. But for 90% of what I have done like the AC, it works really well. The contractors that come out, especially the one that just did our AC, do a really good job. I usually get a response from them within the next 24 hours depending on how serious or urgent the problem is. They are all responsive and they're good at coming when they say they're gonna come and fixing the problem.

    I had a refrigerator where the freezer stopped being cold, and the contractor came out and diagnosed it as needing a new thermostat. They ordered that and came back the next week and installed that. I also had an issue with a cooktop. It was a built-in downdraft kinda cooktop, and the venting system stopped working. The contractor came out and assessed that. When they tried to order parts, they realized they couldn't get the part. So, they just referred me back to American Home Shield. They went ahead and helped me order a new cooktop, and then Greenway came in and installed it.

    They installed it fine, except we had to have GE come back out because it appeared to be a warranty issue because the vent wasn't working. It turned out it was just one of the ground wires hadn't been connected. So, the elements work. It was ironic that our problems started with the vent and ended with the vents. But it's all fixed now.

    American Home Shield's claims process was a little cumbersome. But I was put in touch with Susan who just kind of took the lead on it and made it happen. There were a couple of moving parts and she did make it possible for Greenway to come back because they're the ones that kind of assessed it. There was some modifications needed to be done for the cooktop, and it just seemed easier to have the same people back. Sometimes it's not possible to do it, but she made it possible. So, sometimes difficult situations turn out to be great because the customer service turns out to be great, which it was in this case.

    We've had the home warranty with American Home Shield for over 25 years. We've always been happy with it and are very happy to suggest to people that they consider getting one. Especially as our house and our appliances get older, it's been a good investment for us. It runs pretty smooth. We've been a customer for a long time so we know some of the right people that we can get in touch with that are still there for years. That's made it a good company for us to work with. If we didn't know some people at American Home Shield, it might have been not as easy. We were part of ServiceMaster and American Home Shield used to be right in our building where my husband was an executive. We have a relationship with them that for us turns out to be a 5.

    Sometimes, it might be a little harder for somebody who's brand new that doesn't know, especially if they're new to the whole warranty system. You're reachable online, you're reachable by phone and as soon as somebody in particular was put sort of in charge of our situation, it was easy because you always had the same person that you could go back to. I have recommended American Home Shield to a number of people, and I would continue to do that. I've always told them that we've had a positive experience.

    The tech from the first company that American Home Shield sent out blew me off. He didn't do anything, although he kept saying that he did, but they charged me a fee for him coming out. Then, when Home Shield pressed him for documentation, he submitted some false documentation, which says my claim was not valid and that it wasn't covered. I had to call Home Shield back and petition. I kept complaining about this guy not doing what he said he was gonna do in the contract and it fell on deaf ears.

    I even had a customer service agent who gave me a fictitious number which didn't work when I called. I called and complained about that. And the wait times are ridiculous. Home Shield needs to listen to the customer. I was gonna call them and question them about paying that vendor that didn't do anything, but I decided that at this point, what's the point? They don't listen to me. I called to cancel my membership with them because I felt like they weren't hearing me. That was how I got with High Priority. They were the second company that was sent out and they did okay. I have to remove some from the cabinetry so they can get to the leak and hopefully, it's gonna work out. Home Shield has some good points about them but they really need to work on customer service.

I went online to submit a claim and American Home Shield recently added a new feature by which you can choose which vendor they're going to use as opposed to one they assign. For this claim, I was able to choose my own and I had a good experience. I also had several good experiences with American Home Shield, but I had two notably bad experiences. They both had to do with the vendor and that was why I was very glad they've added that feature of being able to select your own. With the AC system, the people they sent out were dishonest and overcharging. And they passed some of that onto me because of the way they did things.

    The other claim was for the refrigerator and the tech assigned to me said they didn't support my type of refrigerator. But they weren't even willing to tell me what was wrong and they just didn't want talk to me. I also put in the brand of refrigerator that I had in the site and I told them what kind of refrigerator it was before they ever came out. So that charge should have been reversed. But at the time, I was frustrated and I just let the $75 go. Despite that, I would tell my friends that American Home Shield is a good investment, especially on any house that's at least 5 or 10 years old where you're really going to need some repairs throughout the year. I'd tell them that you have to really stay on them and make sure that if something's wrong, don't be afraid to call them back and make sure it gets done right. But overall, it's been a good value.

    The last people I had here for the furnace were very nice and very good. I called Home Shield on the phone for the furnace. They called me back and told me who was gonna fix my furnace. Then I called the people and the guy was out here the next day. They went in there and fixed my furnace. But the furnace started doing the same thing again. So we called them back and the guy come out and finally figured out what was wrong with it. It's working great since then.

    As far as anybody coming out to do work that I've ever called and asked them, they've always been very, very nice. All of my repairs were done in a very good manner except one, and that was a few years ago. I lived on Patricia drive and the guy came in for our refrigerator. But then he said he cut his leg really bad. I gave him a bandage. There was no blood but he had to leave and go home.

    I had a problem with the billing department and they were supposed to reimburse me. The only thing I got was a second notice that I was passed due in my payments. But I paid Home Shield $907 upfront. I shouldn't have had to pay that because they were charging me for two places and they weren't supposed to because the older place at Patricia drive was stopped. When we sold our house, we bought the new owner a year's home warranty and that was paid out of the sale of the house. So as far as the billing department, I would like to hear from somebody. I need to know that everything was taken care of.

    My washer came up with an LE code. It was working off and on, then, it just stopped. So, I went ahead and put in a request with AHS. They sent out somebody and when they came out, they said what was wrong with it and that it needed a part. They said they would have to order the part but a couple of days went by and there was no answer. It had been a week, so I called them and asked what was going on because the system said something about the claim being completed. But they said they didn't know. So, we all made telephone calls and in the end, AHS re-issued another technician. The original people was confused.

    This time, Red Alert came in and when the tech looked at the washer, he gave me something similar to whatever the first tech said. He said he needed a part and to wait for the part to come back. Then, he came back with that part. He took the washer apart then put it back together. As soon as he left, within 15 minutes, we had run a quick wash and the washer was still not working. I called the tech back and he ordered another part. I also asked for the plastic rim upfront and told them that I needed that plastic rim to be replaced.

    He said that even when he'd wash the washer, it still got water that built up right in the middle and he didn't know why. He was said it looked like something was clogged. So, when he came back the second time, he brought back the other part that he ordered. Then he took the whole washing machine apart and found where it was clogged at. When he took the whole washing machine apart, it was filthy inside, so I took out my pressure washer and he pressure-washed everything down. He made sure all the parts were clean then he put the part that he ordered in. Everything should have been good.

    He ran the washer for 15 minutes but it didn't complete the cycle. He was going to call it in to say that he couldn't fix it or the machine couldn't be fixed. So, I was waiting and waiting. Then, I called American Home Shield and they said he needed to call that in. He said he worked on it but he didn't put the proper notes in. I had to call the contractor back and they went to put the proper notes in. So, I relayed that message and the next thing I knew, I had a third technician coming out.

    So, I got pissed. At that time, I was taking my clothes back and forth to the washing machine to get washed and it was really inconvenient. It was going on for two months. At that moment, I would just pay out of my pocket and get a new washing machine. I told them I was going to cancel and I'll just bank the money that I spend every month and put it to the side. When I need a new appliance or if something happened, I'll just pay for it myself and have no problem.

    I had another experience with AHS and a different contractor when my refrigerator went out. The freezer door wouldn't close and it was catching ice. And in the back of it, it had a little bit of rust. So, I was waiting for the techs to come back with the part, which was just the rubber part to fix the bottom part of the refrigerator. Then they came back and said they had to replace the whole thing. I was shocked. Appliances are really hard to get these days and when you got to get an appliance, it would take them 30 to 45 days to even get an appliance in. So, I couldn't even get an appliance in fast enough or they didn't have it. Home Depot didn't have anything in either. So, I went out-of-pocket and bought my own refrigerator to be reimbursed later because only Lowe's had anything in.

    I also went and looked at washing machines the other day because I'm going to buy my own washing machine. And I can't even get a washing machine before December the 15th. So, I'm a little pissed again. In the meanwhile, I'm waiting for the third opinion techs that AHS sent out. They're supposed to be here anywhere between 11:00 and 3:00 to look at this washing machine again.

    Other than that, I never have any problem with the people who come into my home. They're always professional and nice. They always go out of their way to try to fix the issue and they try to get me back on their schedule as fast as they can, waiting on a part. But with all that into play, I'm still at the 20th of November without a washing machine. And that’s been since the 6th of October. I'm not mad at the people who come out, though. They're doing what they're supposed to do. They're trying to fix the problem, waiting on parts, and doing the best they can. But I don't have a washing machine, so I'm angry. Still, it's not like American Home Shield is doing a terrible job. Usually, they are on point and it’s a great service, especially if something breaks and you can get it fixed.

    My water heater was leaking and I was panicking because the water was gushing out of the sink. There was a spraying fountain going under that thing. So, I got my neighbor and we closed the main water outside. American Home Shield scheduled me somebody who called me back, and called again before they came. He was the friendliest and best plumber I ever experienced. I was very happy. He was amazing. He had with him an apprentice and the young boy knew everything already. I said that he was a smart child because we need good people who could do labor like this. We don’t need any more people sitting on the computers all the time. Since the repair, everything is fine.

    The plumber suggested that I get a newer version of pipes although he didn’t think AHS would pay for it. He explained to me that the warm water pipe is bright pink and the other one is blue, and it triggers you when it gets expanded without breaking. Then he put a little container, where when there is over pressure, it goes in that thing. I paid $300 for it but it's worth the future. I have just social security and I have to pay the $60. It makes a hole in my budget but I could sleep at night. I don't have to worry if something breaks. I won’t be standing there with huge bill. It’s peace of mind and everybody who doesn't have any friends or handyman in the house should get a security like that.

    We have Total Air Care come out to do a bi-yearly service for winter for our units and we paid for that initially. But then the guy found an issue back in one of our caps on our actual AC reservoirs outside. I put in a request for them to fix that. He was able to fix that and fill one of our units with Freon. They did a good job. They alerted us of the issue and fixed it, and after that, they made sure that we understood what work was done and that it was fixed and the system is good to go.

    American Home Shield is great. They're very responsive and help you with the issue you have going on as soon as possible. It's a good service to have far as protecting appliances and things acquired if you're owning a home. They cover any issues that you might have with those for the AC unit or with even your refrigerator or dishwasher.

    You wouldn't believe what American Shield has done for both of the houses that we have. We've had a water heater replaced in the last year. Our refrigerator was refixed. Our dryer was replaced. We had problems with our pipes in our shower, and our air conditioning in North Hollywood. Everything went crazy this year. Because of the COVID, we were home more. American Home Shield was called for the policies for both houses at least 20 times. Each time, they did an incredible job. With the shower that we had, there were some problems because the shower stuff was made in Germany, and they couldn't get the parts. They had a hard time getting parts. They kept sending technicians until they got the right technician to know what was going on with that. They did not give up. They fixed it. They paid for it. It's been a good experience.

    Doing claims is really super easy because all I do is call them up and tell them what's wrong. I really like talking to people and so does my husband. We don't like to send it on the internet. We talk to the customer service. For me, it doesn't take more than five minutes. For him, it does. When I call, I say, "Oh, I need something for this." They say, "Okay, we're coming." I would recommend anybody that has a home to have American Home Shield. It would pay for itself in less than a year.

    In our case, the first month, it paid for itself. It's been paying for itself every single month because you don't know who's coming into your home. American Home Shield has done the background checks. These people aren't gonna be squeezing you because we used to get squeezed. We had somebody come in for a hot water heater. It never worked right. The guy who came said, "Oh, that's because it's done wrong. Oh, we just need to do this, and this, and this." And it was done. It was something we've been suffering for a while. I like the quality and integrity. I love American Shield.

    I've had AHS on multiple homes now and they are always on the ball. Only once did we have an issue of a no-show, no-call.     We scheduled a health check and paid for that. The tech came out and checked. We have dual system. In one system, a capacitor checked bad. So I asked him to open another work order, and go ahead and replace it. He replaced that and the system works like a champ now, so I'm kind of satisfied on both the preventative work order and the replacement of the capacitor.     I had AHS for a year, was paying around $66/month. After a year my rates increased to $86/month. I called to cancel because of the increase, they offered to keep my rate the same at $66/month if I didn't cancel. They said 'all policies increase after the first year, that's our policy'... Next month, I see I'm charged $86, so I call again and they said whoever told me that pricing 'isn't allowed to do that' and thus I was going to continue being charged $86/month. I cancelled the next month and found that almost all of their competitors are between $40-$50/month. I don't recommend AHS based on this pricing experience. I don't think it's good business practice to not enforce something that they tell you that they will do, especially in regards to pricing. If an employee made a error in telling me pricing then they should still honor that error.

    Recently, they've been trying to assign out of town contractors to service items in my home, which caused a significant delay over the summer with getting my air conditioner replaced.     When you call American Home Shield, it's hard to communicate with the person on the other line sometimes. It makes a big difference when you call somebody if you need some help and you cannot understand what the person you're talking to is saying. They don't understand you as well. Communication is everything when it comes to doing business. When there's lack of communication, the business is not so good. Also, the contractor they sent the last couple of times was not very good. On a different note, I called American Home Shield two months ago and told them what problem I was having with my washing machine. They contacted Sears, and they sent them to the house. The repairman opened up my washing machine and found out there were some debris that were stuck inside. He cleared it and it was fine. He was good. I liked him.

    ATR General Services told me that I had one of those reusable filters that I needed cleared up, washed and dried out. Everything else was okay. They were good. In fact, I sent something back in to tell them how great they were. American Home Shield has been good too. They've got their little kickback on it sometimes. If something has to be replaced, I end up spending some money out of the pocket. That's the only one we dealt with, but I've seen quite a few of home warranty companies out there now. I thought I might go to another one, but I said no. My wife said she'd want to stick with AHS.

    I've had American Home Shield for 11 years now and I've had issues in the past where I wasn't happy with the contractors that they subcontract to. One time, I had my refrigerator broken for three weeks and another time, I had my air conditioner broken for a month. I always felt like because it was insurance that the contractors put me on the back burner. But Excalibur was great. The furnace was making a clicking sound like it was trying to catch in heat, but it wasn't catching on. I submitted the claim on a Saturday night and they called me on Sunday. I was so impressed with them. Then, they came, they ordered a part, and they came back. They replaced the part and the furnace working. Everything went picture perfect.

    AHS should interject and be helpful when asked. I had my dishwasher broke. It was antiquated and I had to get a new one. They got me a new one but to get it installed took about a month. The installer couldn't do the plumbing and the plumber couldn't do it without the installer. Nobody was synchronizing anybody to come with the other person. It was horrific. That was the worst experience I had with AHS. But now that I had a positive experience, I was hoping that that would be a trendsetter.

    My wife had American Home Shield a long time ago and I continued it. When I had a service request, they sent out YAZD Mechanical and they were fine. The only thing is American Home Shield should make access to them easier for the consumer. They can be accessed online but it can be very confusing. When you have a problem in a house and you wonder if that problem is covered or not covered, there is no way to easily have an answer. If you try to contact American Home Shield over the phone, it is impossible. You almost wish not to have the home warranty. You can just call a plumber and say, "Come in and I'll pay you for your services."

    Street Plumbing and Rooter did a really good job on our leaking bathroom toilet. The toilet leaked into our downstairs neighbors bathroom. The techs took a look at our apartment, then told us the way they would diagnose the issue was to go downstairs and hear for drips. We flushed the toilet a couple of times and we found the leak. Street Rooter took our toilet out, replaced the sealants, and then put everything back together. The techs said that the toilet shouldn't leak anymore and that we should not put the silicone sealant all across. Instead, we should leave some of the sealant at the back so that if it leaks, it leaks into our place first, then our neighbors. We were so glad we had American Home Shield to help us out. This was such a huge issue that we couldn't have done on our own.
