I had a washing machine issue and after I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, it took a couple of days for the technician to come out. It was great dealing with him. He had to order the parts and come back. He replaced some springs in the base of my washer but it still didn't work. So, AHS ended up having to replace my washer and they're in the process of doing that. The experience with AHS was simple, easy to manage and not complicated at all.

My garage door was not opening or closing and it was a cable tension problem. Sam's Garage Doors was sent and the guy fixed the cable. He was really nice and even programmed my card to work with the garage door. I have a PIN code outside. I had a leak in my house too. I called American Home Shield. They sent a guy out the first time and didn't really fix it. I had to call again, and they came out again. American Home Shield has been really patient and they helped me get both problems solved so that was good. Go with them and they will get it done and taken care of.

My recent claim was for a heating checkup. The tech that was sent out was good. I had something cleaned that wasn't covered because it was preventative.

I had work done on two of my toilets that were leaking. The repair guys were excellent and professional. One of them had to come back the next day for the part. But they fixed the toilets. I've been down with American Home Shield now for about three years and I haven’t had a problem.

It was really simple to submit the claim and get passed to the contractor. I didn't have to handle anything. The contractor called when they were coming. The garbage disposal was locked up. It was humming and operating but it wouldn't spin. It's the third time that it happened in about two years. I explained it to the repairman when he got here, and he said he would check it out to see if he could fix it. My concern was that I didn't want to keep spending $75 deductible if the thing kept locking up every year. The garbage disposal was rusted stuck so he replaced the unit. I was really satisfied with that outcome. He also gave me a tip to help maintain it in the future so it doesn't rust up as easy. He was in and out pretty quickly. It was smooth and easy.

There was a leak under the kitchen sink. The techs were great. They knew what they were doing and they solved the problem very quickly. On top of that, they were very friendly and professional. They were socially polite and appropriate. So they were very easy and friendly to work with. It was an easy breezy experience.

I had an icemaker that wasn't working. I called Home Shield on the phone. It took a week for a contractor to come out, but the GE repair guy made sure he came on that day and came a little early. He was very courteous and explained to me what he was doing, and ordered a part for me and it got here timely. Everything went well with him. The unit is better than the icemaker I had at first. I feel Home Shield is a good company. It works out well with everything.

I filed the claim for the water heater and then I was able to get someone that came out. There was $100 that I had to pay. The guy said that the people before did something to the water heater when they were asked to fix it. He said it made the water heater break, and that they were gonna have to replace it with a new one. I asked him what I needed to do and he said, "You don't need to do anything. They're gonna call you to set up an appointment." He said it should be on Friday. But I haven't heard anything. I was a little bit worried.
I checked my emails and I had some emails from HSA. There was an email confirming the initial appointment with the plumber and then I had a new email from American Home Shield that said, "Urgent," and, "About your plumbing request." They stated that I needed to call them about it. So I gave them a call on a Monday and the guy was very hard to understand. He said they could get them in by Friday. I asked him if there was any way they could do it sooner. He said Friday was the earliest date. So I agreed to do it on Friday. I asked him if he could go over my warranty with me because I don't know anything about it. He said I was getting my water heater replaced in a very strong Indian accent. So there was miscommunication.
I asked the rep if I had to pay anything and he said he didn't know. I told him I needed to know what I was being charged for. Because I know what water heaters cost and that I can get help to put one in if it's going to be a crazy cost. I was not sure what costs were associated with it. But he said he couldn't do that. So I asked if I could talk to someone who can explain my warranty to me and he said that could be him. His supervisor was not available. He said she could give me a call in about four hours. I was not sure what was going on. I asked him if this was HSA and he said, "This is Home Shield." I asked him what association do they have with HSA? He said, "We have your warranty." I asked him again to tell me how much I was going to pay. This went around in circles. I was getting frustrated.
I asked him if he was contracted out and he said, "No, I work for this company." But how could he not tell me about my policy? I confirmed my identity and he told me he was booking everything. After a significant amount of time, he finally pulled up my warranty. He had it the whole time. He said, "If you go to section F, you'll see that if you make modifications, we are only paying." Then he said it was around $500 or so of the total price rather than the whole thing. But I read through the contract and said that the whole thing could be taken care of, and now I was gonna have to pay $1,000 for something that should have been paid. I asked him if I could speak to his supervisor. I would like to understand what was going on with my contract because this was not making any sense. I didn't make modifications. He said he would have his supervisor call me.
I got a call with no voicemail from what I believe was the supervisor. I missed it. I tried to call back but it went to a dead end. There was no voicemail. So I was frustrated. I went to my real estate agent. I told her that I didn't know if someone was going to show up on Friday and then I was going to have to pay $1,500. So she ended up reaching out to her rep and they said that they would give me a number of someone I could actually talk to. Now, I've tried both numbers. I've tried HSA and it took me to a voicemail system. I couldn't get a representative to talk to me.
I got a number to call Darla. Before I called Darla, I called the plumbing agency. I asked them if they had an order to come out and install my water heater. The guy said they didn't have anything. So I ended up booking my own appointment through Prime Plumbing because they have nothing from HSA and the first availability they have was a week later. Then I left a voicemail for Darla saying to call me back. She sent me an email saying, "If you need to figure out what's going on, Prime Plumbing is coming on Tuesday." I knew that. But I wanted to have a conversation about this policy or talk to someone on the phone.
It was impossible to get someone on the phone. I emailed Darla back everything that went on and that's where we're at now. It looks like I'm gonna get the water heater installed on Tuesday. But I don't have any confirmation of that outside of Darla's recent email. The best thing was the website. It worked well. But Darla not calling me back when I asked her to call me back and sending me a short email was pretty bad. Nothing's been resolved. It's been one of the worst customer services that I've had.

I submitted the claim over the phone. There was a $100 deductible Home Shield hit me up for. We took that over the phone as well. There were some ballast problems on a couple of old fluorescent lamps. It’s an older house and I had some recessed lighting problems. The tech gave me a couple of tips on both. He didn't even have to replace the ballast. I was happy with that. I got a previous erroneous opinion on another familiar electrician but the group that Home Shield picked, Lite It Up Electric, was excellent and did a good job for me. The tech was outstanding on all categories. Young guy too, so he's learning his way up and doing a really good job. I used to be with retail businesses for customer service and how you present yourself is a big key, and he did a good job.

We just purchased a new home in July. We bought a brand new home 'cause we didn't want any issues but after living there for just a couple of months, our brand new refrigerator went out. It was $100 deductible versus having to buy a whole new refrigerator. That's how AHS is beneficial to me and I've already tried to get both of my sisters to sign on to the program.
I was a little unhappy with the service but AHS rectified that. They sent out a company who should be taken off their list. When they came out to evaluate the situation, they said that they weren't able to fix it then they closed the case. I had to call back and ask them what were they gonna do. How could they close something that's not corrected? The lady was so good. I told her I would stay on the phone 'til she found a company that could come out and repair it, not send somebody to evaluate it. It took her six people before she finally found a reputable company. They finally fixed it. It took them a couple weeks because the part took so long to order but I understand that COVID has slowed down things.

I file claims over the phone as I don't have a computer and I don't know all these fancy ways. The reps are always very helpful and professional. I had an issue with my oven recently. Crawford Appliance was sent out. The guy's name was Kevin and he was very concerned and considerate. He was willing to get grime and dirt. He did whatever had to be done. If it didn't work, make sure I call American Home Shield and say that it needed reorder, and he would come back, and whatever has to be done and do it. People should definitely sign up with American Home Shield. So far, they’ve been pretty good to me. I had one bad experience, but I didn't let that stop me from continuing to use them.

We were having trouble with our refrigerator. The freezer was freezing, but the refrigerate part was not getting anything cold. The tech came out the same day I made the order to see what it needed. Then he came back the day after when the part came in. It had froze over in the back, and he had to defrost and cut the ice from the back of the refrigerator. It looked like we didn't even need the part. He was able to fix it and now it's been running fine.
If I do my claim online, it's simple. But if I call, I would be on hold longer than an hour and a half. I would put the phone down while I cleaned the house. I cleaned my whole house before they picked it. But the lady was really nice when she came on. Now the coronavirus makes everything delayed, so I did the claim online this time and the rep called 10 minutes after I submitted it. My husband called American Home Shield when we had some molds and he got so frustrated because he was on hold for an hour, so he hung up, and then I had to call back. So calling in is a task, but if you do it online, you can get through a lot faster. American Home Shield should have a quicker response. Because a lot of people wants American Home Shield to call them back because they’re scared they’re not gonna call back, and then they wasted that time when they could’ve went online.
When American Home Shield had the guy to fix the air conditioner, he didn't fix anything. He told us the issue was just the filters, but it wasn’t still getting cool upstairs. So we had to call after paying them the fee. We had to pay another guy $400 to come back out and fix the problem. He had to clean the coils. When I talked to the lady at Home Shield, she said they don't cover that and the antifreeze or the Freon they have to put in. They only covered very little. They didn't didn't cover if it has to be refilled and you have to pay for it. But I thought that was covered under the warranty when the air needed to be fixed. So American Home Shield have somebody come out and tell you that the air conditioner needs to be cleaned, and that is a little misleading.

My furnace was not getting gas, so the guy had to replace the part on the inside of the unit (it regulates the gas going into the furnace). It was a quick service. Also, the guy's friendly and he always explains to me exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it. That's why I like that American Home Shield sends the same guy.
My experience with American Home Shield has been A-1 all the way. Every time I need their service, they're right on the ball. I’ve recommended them to my kids and several other people. I'd tell them that they need it and they need to call and get it right away. No home should be without it. I also talked to the service tech that comes and works on our stuff, and he told me that they're the best.

The contractors are consistently the same ones, which I like because I know who's coming. I feel they're honest and they do the job. If it's not done, they come back and complete it. I've been happy with the contractors through American Home Shield. I'm disappointed with American Home Shield though. Right now, I have an issue with my washing machine. The contractor came out to deal with my dishwasher and my washing machine. They were great, timely and were telling me about when the parts were coming and to come out to schedule to put it in. But American Home Shield has not been forthright in telling me when my washing machine is gonna be replaced. The contractor said it was gonna cost more to fix it than to replace it. So, I still don't have a washing machine and I get the same information. Last week, I got the information that they needed to get an approval, or it was approved but that they needed to do this and that.
When I called yesterday, it was almost like I had to start all over again with the same information because they did not have the paper trail from the week before. I'm not getting any information and they don't contact me unless I contact them. That happened once before when I had plumbing issues. The plumber was very forthright and told me what was gonna happen and the cost that was gonna have to come out of my pocket. But American Home Shield never contacted me to tell me that this had been approved, and this is what I had to do. I had to call them to get the ball rolling because contractors can't do it unless American Home Shield says what they can and cannot do or approves it. American Home Shield seems like they dropped the ball. Why can't they call me and say, “We're still updating.” Why can't they email me? They email me for everything else.
What happened with my plumbing is they closed out the service, but they didn't follow up because the service had not been completed. You can't close something out if it hasn't been completed. American Home Shield drops the ball when it comes to following up. Then I stay on the line each time. Last week with my washing machine, I stayed on the line for over an hour. It felt like that because I keep being put on hold. Then yesterday, it was the same thing.
They could improve on their communication. I get emails multiple times during the week from Home Shield about this and about that. I don't understand why they can't email me about the update. Each contractor forewarned me that parts may take longer because of the virus. I've never had a delay with the contractors. I have a delay with American Home Shield. I like the fact that I can call them and they can find contractors. I don't have to find them. Right now, I'm satisfied with the contractors they find. So, I would recommend them because I think they do a good job in the contractors that they hire. I just think that the communication is bad. Everybody I know has American Home Shield and we all say the same thing.

#1 Garage Door came for my garage door that would close but would not open properly. We had to pull the little string on it to make it operate. They've been out a month earlier because we were having problems with the garage door and it was a quick fix. The gentleman knew exactly what the problem was. He came in and looked, and he said the sensors were not aligned. He aligned them and he was gone.
A month later, it was going haywire again so when we called back, we didn't make a copay. When the gentleman got here, he immediately noticed that something had broken at the top of the garage door and it was not covered under American Home Shield. He had to replace both the springs and the rollers and it was $550 which I was very concerned about because I wasn’t prepared to have to do that especially after already paying the $100 a month before. But the gentleman was very professional and very helpful. I don't have any problems with the work that was done at all.
My last experience was with the HVAC and they had to dispatch a company five times before we got anything done. I ended up calling someone local to fix it. It was in the middle of the summer and we were without air conditioning for almost two weeks. That was maybe 2 years ago and it was not a happy time. I was not real thrilled with American Home Shield then at all. But my experiences recently have been totally the opposite. When I called American Home Shield before, I had to wait on the phone for so log. This time, there was no problem. Both times recently, I have either gotten on the line or gotten on the phone, and got immediate customer service, got a response back immediately in terms of telling me who would be assigned to my issue. It went real smooth the last couple months and I appreciate excellent service when I get it.
When I moved into this house, I was leasing. The people came for the plumbing and fixed it. It's just that I don’t have a lavatory there yet. I’m waiting for the carpenter to do that. In July, my daughter’s icemaker had an issue. We filed a claim. The man didn’t come. A couple of weeks later, we found out he had died. We did not say anything because we knew people had to be reorganized. We waited and tried again. On August 20, before the storm, the assigned man said that he didn't have the time to come and look at it. We had a storm on August 27th and still, no ice. The storm came and the refrigerator, when we turned the electricity back on, which was out from August until September, didn’t work then. We have been without a refrigerator since July. Then September came. When a team of people came by to pick up the refrigerator, I put it by the road. All the time, I was trying to deal with American Home Shield.
I had only paid my $75 deductible. So then, we bought a refrigerator. I told American Home Shield that I got rid of it. They said that I should send them a letter. I kept sending and faxing letters trying to get this settled. Finally, it came up for my American Home Shield to be renewed, and I wouldn’t renew it under these circumstances. I’ve had them many times before and I’ve always recommended them. But I wouldn’t recommend them again. It’s not my fault that nobody came, that the technician died, and they assigned me to another one. Till this day, I have not received the $75 deductible that I had paid in July. I have been on the phone for hours and they would put me on hold every time. I did not want that. The only thing I know to do is just try to sue them because it’s not right.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Asked me where the system was. I directed him to where the system was. He then went and did his job and let me know that he had finished and to call this office if anything came up.
It has been a simple process all the time with American Home Shield. But right now, I got a message from them saying that I owe them for that one visit. But I had paid them for another visit that I cancelled, and they were supposed to pay themselves with that payment for this visit. Also, a lot of times, the guys have to come from an hour to an hour and a half away from here. And I know that we do have local people here for just about everything. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield for our heater was very easy. The contractor was amazing. He was very knowledgeable in the area in which he came in to take care of. Unfortunately, they're coming back out Friday. I have a dual unit. They're gonna come back out and check the other unit.
I used American Home Shield once before many years ago in a previous home and they were amazing as well. I used their services once before when I lived in Arizona and it was great. The young man from Ace Garage was very courteous. He programmed the remote and said four is the maximum although my brother had gotten all of them programmed before. A few hours later, it wasn’t working. The next morning, I gathered up the remote and started going through them. Only one remote was still working on one of the clicks and it's the one I put in my truck. So I called back which I’m now having to spend more money. They were supposed to be here today but the guy had an emergency so they're going to be here Monday.
They didn't pay attention to what I said. I explained what it was. They’d have to program my remote but I also needed someone to get into the unit. They were telling me that the remotes wouldn’t program if those are okay. I said, “Then why are they losing their programming?” The garage door people were not understanding what the issue was. I was a professional for 35 years. If I had done my job like that, I would have been fired.
I was told I would get contacted in a timely manner but that has not happened here and I've talked with six people. I ended up calling the electrician that came out. But Dennis Electrical was very good. They fixed those outlets then. I asked about my electrical bed and they said they didn't know anything about electrical beds. When I called the sixth time and talked with John, he informed me the electrical beds weren’t covered. I told him when I called and mentioned the electrical bed, I was told they're covered. He was the first one that told me that wasn't covered. I had about three of them tell me that they would call me back within 24 hours but I never got a call back.
Now I got to find someone that does electrical beds. I would have been better off with my money that I’m paying each month just to hire an electrician come do my outlets then call a garage door company. The electrical guy, Dennis, gave me names to garage door companies. I asked AHS if they could use them but I got the runaround on that.

For my last claim, I submitted it online and the process was very simple. I am not a good computer person, so if I could do it, anybody can. Within an hour or so, they already processed it and got me in with the contractor. Then, within a day or two, the tech was coming out and things went very smoothly. The tech was very on time, explained any questions I had, and was very thorough. Everything was very clean, too. It happened that we had the same guy two times in a row and he was very professional.
Other than that, I got my best friend and sister to get AHS as well. I also had them in the last house and was very pleased. Then I bought this house about a year and a half ago where I got them again and I've been very pleased with them, too. I've kept them for many years and you can't get much better. I'm a single mom and it's nice to not have to worry a huge deal when something tears up.

I was not having heat coming out of the system despite this system moving and State Heating and Air Conditioning came out, assessed it, and fixed it in a timely manner. However, it has reoccurred again and I've resubmitted the claim. It's simple to submit a claim. It's a double-edged sword because of their heavy use of technology which is very nice. But then it's really difficult to often get in contact with a person should some issue or whatever you're dealing with be a little bit more complicated than what fits into standard automated queues.

But when I went to schedule today, I wanted to do it online and when it asked for my zip code, I would put in my zip code, and then it would come up and tell me there was no zip code or they didn't have that zip code in their area. I ended up having to call them by phone to get it scheduled. But other than that, I've had no issues with them at all.

I have American Home Shield on my sister's property also. I submitted a claim for her AC then they told me someone would be out there that Saturday. The guy that came out let me know that he couldn't get in contact with American Home Shield so nothing could be provided. However, if I wanted to go on and get some air in there for the weekend, then I could pay him a certain amount of money which was 400 and some dollars. He said that there was a piece that American Home Shield wasn’t covering. I told him, “No. I have American Home Shield and I'm not expected to pay anything. If I was, then American Home Shield is going to notify me, not you trying to upsell me.”
I was on the phone with American Home Shield for hours that day when the guy came in. Someone said, “We don't do work on Saturdays. We just send a person out to assess the problem then we'll send someone back out the following week.” They came back after several days but I would rather them tell me they couldn't get anyone out till Monday.
I was really skeptical of that company. When I had the work done in my house, I was waiting to see because if they were gonna send the company out, I was gonna say forget it because after that experience, I seriously thought about going with the company that my brother has on his property. It seemed like they answered right away. My other sister went on with that company too because that was kind of a horrible experience I had. There was also a misunderstanding about the accounts since both of them were in my name. They told me that I didn't have the one account and that it wasn't paid for. I have proof that they were taking out from my account every month. That wasn't a real pleasant experience but we got past it.

My mother had American Home Shield and I kept it after she passed away. So far, their claim process has been good. When I called in this last time, the guy was fine. The only thing was I have been told multiple times that you can ask for a certain company to come to your home but he said they couldn't guarantee that. That was the only thing that I wasn't happy with because I wanted Multiple Services. The reason is I will use them when I pay for my yearly but they are already contracted with AHS. It's so much easier to use them in case there's a problem.
I didn't like one of the vendors American Home Shield had. I was told to just tell AHS that I only wanted a certain company, for example Sears Repair, to come out. Now, you have to stay on hold too long to talk to anybody. Multiple Services was just there and I wanted them to do the repair but the rep said I couldn't do that. He put my claim in the computer and luckily, Multiple Services came up so there wasn't an issue. They came out and found something. There were a couple of switches on the furnace that had to be replaced. They came back to fix it. They were great. The tech was very professional. I would definitely use them again.

The guy diagnosed what the problem was, had the part on his truck and was able to fix it for me. However, we did have a problem when we called to report the issue because we were connected to someone in the Philippines and that was a very difficult transaction. American Home Shield should give us somebody who can speak English. It was very difficult to communicate with that person. She could not tell us what needed to be done. We also had to wait about a week for someone to get out here to diagnose the problem and see if they could fix it. On top of that, I was a little surprised when we had to pay a fee just to have somebody come out and look at it since we pay quite a bit for American Home Shield to have that coverage.

The proximity of the pipe to that wall was so tight so he couldn't maneuver anything. They came to patch them up. I was satisfied with the work they did. The techs were extremel professional. It was still not fixed. It was two times that they had to come. They couldn't repair the washer. It was not a repairable washer. They said they were gonna replace my washer, and it took a long time. The first time the contractor came to check and diagnosed that it was not repairable was October 20th. Then they didn't have anything in stock to offer me. That was the part I didn't really like.

My water went out about almost a month and a half. Sigmond Plumbing came out and replaced it. And then I paid $75 for him to come out, and then $460 because it didn't have an expansion tank. I just bought the home. They installed the new water heater, expansion tank, and then a line or something that’s longer. They were wonderful.
It took a while for them to come out for the air conditioning. But the gentleman came out and he was awesome. It was definitely leaking, but he said that sometimes, the condensation would cause that. I told him it's leaking a colored fluid. He said it needed a tray. They didn’t put a tray on underneath it. He was gonna send me how much it would be to see if they would put a tray in. Also, I asked the drain line because it's in the garage where it’s leaking and I can’t pull my car in there. I have a sports car and I don’t want it dripping on it. He said they would send me an estimate of what they would charge me to come out and put the tray in, and he thought that would be warrantied to move the PVC pipe over. But I haven't heard from him. Other than that, I called and they got me hooked up. That was great.
I'm from Washington State, and now I’m in Florida, and a few years since I’ve used Home Shield home warranty. I've had them on homes before. I had a pump that went out, but they never charged me a dime. The contractor came out and checked it out. They said yes, it needed to be replaced, and when they would be back to replace it. I also had an air conditioner on another home that wasn't producing overnight. So, I called because I didn't know what was going on. And of course, I had purchased Home Shield, and the tech came out. They replaced a new air conditioner outside and didn't charge me anything. The only thing I was disappointed in is they charge the 75 bucks, but I get it. There's a lot of fraud. And I'm sure because of the type of business they have, it becomes expensive when people are just trying to get away with stuff.
I talked to the air conditioning technician about that. He agreed that for whatever reason, they do have that now. He was informative. The gentleman that came out for the water heater, the same thing. Because they told me, it would be $460 and I went, “Whoa, wait a minute. I paid $75. That's all I was told to pay.” It was hard to fork out 460 bucks plus the 75. But at least they explained it to me and I understood.
My Realtor, because they're with Coldwell Banker, referred me and have the brochure for Home Shield. I get why, but going through the brochure, it doesn't stand out that you pay $75. I was shocked. And then later, the double shot, 460 bucks. So, in the brochure, it's great because you get to pick what kind you want, but it needs to be for the customer so they're not surprised that it's a $75. You're fulfilling your deductible. Other than that, both experiences as far as their technicians themselves were awesome. I know a couple that are buying a condo, and I told them they need to get the warranty because I bought the same thing for my daughter's condo.

I've had American Home Shield on and off several times and submitted several different work orders. My wife and I bought a new home and we had Dan’s Pro-Lock rekey seven different locks in our house. Getting a work order filed is relatively easy. But getting them to actually do the work is relatively hard. When I can actually get a contractor, it's usually not very hard. Like recently, I had two work orders. One was for getting the locks redone. And another one, one of our two ACs went out. I had to have a new fan installed in the outside air conditioning unit. But the fan has a computer so they had to go through three different things. It took a week to get Home Shield to approve the motor being put in. My Realtor had to get involved and talk to somebody at Home Shield to make it go quicker. Because they told me at first it would be four weeks without my air conditioner and a bunch of different stuff.
We bought a Home Shield warranty for our last home that my wife and I had. I had a septic tank issue. Our toilet wasn’t flushing and we needed to have the septic tank pumped. Home Shield said, “We can't find anyone that will work with us in your area.” “Well, how long is it gonna take?” “It’ll take two weeks.” I couldn't use the sinks or the toilets in my home for two weeks. Over the course of three days, I spent 12 hours on the phone with Home Shield calling multiple times, talking to different people. I had two pages worth of notes of me talking to people that I have written out while I was talking to people before I finally got it done. And that's generally what it seems like with Home Shield. It takes forever for them to find somebody. And then if the slightest thing goes wrong, like they sent a guy out to my house, he couldn't find the problem. I ended up having to hire a plumber myself to have a problem fixed for a different issue.
It just seems like Home Shield can't find somebody to work because I've had contractors tell me, “Well, they pay me so little. I try not to do these jobs unless I have nothing else to do because they don't pay anything and they take forever to pay.” And then if they do send somebody out there, they would either be new or don't know what they're doing. They just got their business started or getting started. So, it's 50/50 whether or not they're gonna be able to do the job. That's even if it's covered. A lot of times I would call and say, “Hey, I need this worked.” “Oh, that's not covered.” “Okay, what about this?” “Oh, that's not covered. “Well, what about this?” “That’s not covered.”
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

I had a clogged drain in the bathroom and these guys from Viper Drain Cleaning came over and cleaned out the drain in about 15, 20 minutes. They were real concerned about making sure that they scrubbed up the floors and left everything in top condition.
AHS makes so much sense. It's a great way to control the budget. We live in a condo and I asked the maintenance man here, “Is this a good deal paying the 99 bucks to get somebody to clean up the drain?” He said, “Oh, yeah. You're not gonna do any better than that with anybody. You try to find a plumber to come out there for any less than hundred, 125, 150 bucks, you're gonna be lucky.” That's the story that I've repeated to a number of people.

But when the tech got there, after doing some testing, he realized that it was a fuse within our electrical system and the vent system. The worker was awesome. I recently had my dryer fixed and the service guy responded right away within a day. It was in my laundry room, so he had access to the garage. He didn't even have to come into the house and even though that it was that way, we didn't really come in contact but he still wore a mask. It took him a while to fix the dryer, though and he had to order in parts. I had another experience with AHS and it was not good. It had to do with the fact that nobody wanted to come back here. We're up here in the mountains but we're not that far off of the main highway, so I don't understand. At the time, the heater quit working, so I called AHS. Then, I had to call the tech and he set up two appointments to come, but he never showed up.
So finally, I called back in to American Home Shield and they had to have somebody come up from Sacramento, which is 60 miles away. And the other guy was only coming from half that distance. So, it's not an issue with American Home Shield. It's an issue with whoever they're contracted to service this area. AHS should improve on this and having contractors out of Auburn would be ideal because we're about 15 miles from Auburn. Other than that, we've always had AHS and never had any problems. Times have just changed. But when we request them for service, our experience has been good.

We called Home Shield and said that we have a leak in our dishwasher. They sent a guy who was the worst repairman of all time. He was rude to my daughter. He said that he was still waiting on the parts.
A week later, he came and I didn't see any parts with him. He pulled out the dishwasher and said there was some mouse poop in there. I said that we could clean it up and we didn't know that was there. He should've seen that the first time. Then he said he couldn't do it and that he had to come back. I told him that we'd get it cleaned up and call him back. I had it professionally cleaned and called him. He said he would come on a Thursday and gave us a four-hour window. He never called or showed up. My wife waited for him all day. I called an hour after he was supposed to come. He asked who I was and I introduced myself and reminded him that he made an appointment to fix the dishwasher. He said that he would not come back and hung up.
I told Home Shield about him. They sent a real repairman who came very promptly. He checked the dishwasher in and out, spent an hour, and there was nothing wrong with it. But they still charging my account without my approval. Knowing my policy is inactive, I didn’t open a claim for a broken A/C and broken stove this year. However, I called them up if I can still submit a claim and they responded me that I can’t even my policy is still enforced. In addition, they still charged me $6.99 for cancellation. Stay away with this company or you’re going to be robbed. Shame to you guys at AHS.

AHS has been good so far. It's working out perfectly. The process is usually pretty fast and the reps are usually nice. Recently, water was leaking into my basement. The guy said he was gonna be there in five minutes and he came in five minutes. He was trying to figure out what it was and he found out it was a stoppage. He unclogged the stoppage. He was cool. He and I talked a lot.

The motor went out in our AC and heating unit. I tried calling first but the wait time was too long. So I went on AHS's website and requested a service for repair or at least for someone to come out and look at what the problem was at the time. It was very seamless to use the website. Then I got a call back from Joe Cool’s and they said they could have someone come out that day, which was great. It was very timely, and I was not expecting that. The tech came out, looked at it, and knew right away what it was that needed to be repaired. He said he would see if the part was in stock and it was. Before he had even left, they called to say the part was in and they could come out the next morning to install the new motor. So he came back and installed it. It's been fine ever since.
I was quite pleased so far with the vendor selection and AHS's professionalism and their process. During the time that the tech came out, he kept his distance and wore a mask and went into where he needed to go and back out to his truck. He checked our thermostat down the hallway too. He kept me informed as to what he was checking for and what I had heard or experienced. So it was very thorough. Then I got a follow-up as well to rate the company and to rate for service, which I gave them outstanding scores and comments. The processing worked for me.
American Home Shield was worth the money. We just had to pay $100 out of pocket for the service fee. Having a home warranty with American Home Warranty and setting up the agreement initially and up until us having to use them was completely seamless and professional. The vendor that they chose was professional and friendly. They were skilled. They knew what they were doing.

When you make a phone call to American Home Shield, it’s a quick response for whatever company. I like their politeness and aside from that, I try to explain what the issue is and it's easy. I like Steinberg Plumbing because they were very hospitable and explained everything. They told me what the issue was and how they were going to resolve the issue. The only thing that is hard for some reason is when AHS does my payment. The first one would go through and the next day, it couldn’t. Other than that, I'm 100% happy and satisfied with the service and the people. I have no complaints.

Our dishwasher stopped working. I gave a call and said our dishwasher was malfunctioning and put my claim in through the website and was assigned a local company to come and repair it. They called me very quickly and we set up an appointment. The wires got crossed and I explained that it hadn’t drained properly. They thought it was a drain issue. The technician showed up, realized very quickly that it wasn't like that and it was something else. He didn't have the part with him, checked the warehouse, they had one, he was back out in under a week and had it installed and working in less than five minutes. I can't be happier. I've heard some decent things about Home Shield. I’ve had home warranty insurance before. It's okay for people in condos or newer construction. But I have an older house. So everything is not as simple. I told Home Shield what I needed. They sent someone, and he said that Home Shield doesn't cover that. And he didn't do that. The guy said Home Shield only covers toilet stopped or sink stopped. But Drano will cure that. I don't need to pay $100 service fee for that. It's one thing if you're doing work, to get your service fee to apply to that. But to have people come out both times and said, "Oh, we don't do that," or "I can't do that." I don't need to pay $100 to somebody telling me what they can't do.
The other guy came and it took me a month to get a faucet. I paid the service fee and a faucet $100 because I'm getting a fancy one. And it still took me a month almost or more to catch up with it. Not because the guy wasn't all right. But obviously that wasn't a priority on their agenda, which I understand for plumbers that's nothing. I'm not satisfied. I will cancel Home Shield. My contract ends next month. That will be the end of Home Shield for me. It doesn't make sense to pay for things that are not covered when they don't tell you they're not covered. And you pay $100 service fee. I might as well just call the right people to do the right job. Be very careful about reading what they cover and what they don't cover, because most things are not covered that are costly or need real expertise.

I thought about having Home Shield for two years because my mother-in-law and father-in-law had theirs for about 10 years and they bugged us every year to get one. I even pulled it up one time, and then I got sidetracked and didn't follow through. We finally did it. Recently, our heater wouldn't click on. You could hear it in the attic trying to click on but nothing was happening. It kept trying to click on every 15 minutes, even though nothing was happening. South Placer made the appointment for two days later, which I was shocked about. I got a call at some point, it was scheduled between 12:00 and 6:00 and I got a call around 3:00 saying someone would be out 4:00-ish. And at 6:15, I started to panic because it was cold. So, I started sending emails. He showed up about 15 minutes later. But he addressed the problem right away.
He said it was a blower motor that was out. And he just got it turned over right away. He put one in, it wasn't the right size. He went and grabbed another one, got it in, and then he was out of there by 8 o'clock. He was super cordial and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. I was very happy with the experience with the exception of not being kept in the loop about him running late. But I was very happy with it overall.

I had a deal on my pool heater that played games and I ended up replacing the pool heater myself. A lot of the people didn't speak English. We did a claim for the screw off knob on top of the filter. We also needed a gasket on the cover. It's the filter cover for the pool. American Home Shield got in touch with the company here and then the company got in touch with us. The tech came on a Tuesday the first time and he said the parts should be in by Friday. He was knowledgeable of fixing pools and friendly. But it took a little bit longer than they expected for the parts to come in. He called when they got the part. But when he saw the part, he felt like it wasn't the part. So I had to go outside and take pictures of it and send it to him while he was at the part place. They ended up giving him the part.
He came over that same day to replace it, but then there was an issue. The gasket was overstretched on it. We couldn't close it to turn the pool on to run. We had to call him back again and he tucked it in. The entire cover for the pool filter needed changing itself and we ended up buying it ourselves, which was unfair because we pay for American Home Shield.
I've been having a dishwasher problem for over a year and it's still not working right. This gentleman is now trying to help. But with him, there was the situation of the big storm that came through Pensacola and he lives there. He almost lost his roof so I kinda gave him a little leeway. He's been here several times. American Home Shield is spending much more money to fix this old dishwasher and they should've just gave me a new one. There was a talk about buyout, but they wanted to give me about $600 for a $1,300 dishwasher.
One of the things I'm dissatisfied with is the fact that no one has ever called me to find out if I was satisfied. Then a few months ago, the monthly price of American Home Shield went up but no one called me. I didn't receive a letter. When I looked, it went from 74 to 82. They just take money when they're ready and I thought that was a disrespect. But American Home Shield is good to have. I've had moments where I have had things repaired really fast and everything went really well, but this dishwasher has really been giving us trouble.

We had AHS with the other house 15 years ago and we have them in this house. I always tell others I wouldn't go with anybody else. Recently, the wife and I went food shopping, spent $350 and put all the food in the refrigerator on Saturday. I went to work Monday morning, came home in the afternoon and opened the fridge back up. It was warm and everything was gone. I know quite a bit about a lot of stuff around the house and it was weird because usually when a freezer goes, it wouldn't be the refrigerator part. But this has freezers on the bottom of the fridge and the whole thing was warm. The contractor came in two days but the part took a week. It wasn't hot like it usually gets around here in Virginia. If it was an AC, I could see a problem 'cause waiting on parts is common. But for a refrigerator and waiting a week, I'm upset about that. We went out to eat for the whole week.

They wore masks when they were in the basement and asked if they could take them off, which I told them was fine if they were working in the basement and not around anyone. The issues both seemed to be very simple fixes. All-around, it was a really good experience. I would highly recommend them. The washer and dryer are now performing perfectly.
I've used American Home Shield on and off for the past 10, 15 years. I had one experience with them back in 2007 which was not great because the HVAC wasn't covered because something was installed incorrectly. The contractor wouldn't do the repair until this other thing was corrected. I had to pay $3,000 out of pocket. But when I lived in Texas, American Home Shield replaced a full HVAC unit which was about a $7,000 cost. It cost me $75 so it was a great experience there. With American Home Shield, the calling process to order the service is super easy. The website is very user-friendly. The contractors that I've dealt with in the past were very reliable and has great communication. Also, the overall cost of the home warranty and the service calls are very reasonable.

It's been quite a while. It's taking quite a bit of process and it's because of American Home Shield. Axis is just trying to get their approval from them. It's been a month and the washer is still not repaired.
In the case of my fridge, it is done for so the tech couldn't do anything about that. I was on the phone with American Home Shield for an hour and a half yesterday. I finally got the approval to get a new fridge but I'm still waiting on the email for the gift card so I can go buy a new fridge. The problem is I have a 5-year-old at home and we don't have a fridge. For a month, we've been eating out. It's just too hard. If American Home Shield could move the process a little bit faster, it would be wonderful.
I had another claim with American Home Shield. I had to get my air conditioner fixed and the tech put the antifreeze in. That was a lot smoother because they were right out and they were able to take care of the issue right away. But for my fridge, it's taking forever. And this is something I desperately need, especially with just me and my daughter at home. That aside, I would still recommend American Home Shield just for the fact that they were able to get me the new fridge and they are still working on getting the washer fixed. But as far as timely manner, it's definitely not the most convenient. They just take too long on things.

I'm not too happy about the whole time on the phone and waiting for them to get back to you. And then, I had to file a claim for something, and it took forever. The only challenge that I have with warranty companies is that they do basic stuff, and the customer has to pay for anything that's needed beyond the basics. That's the cost of replacing and the rest of it. They send a plumber out here, he does a basic thing. If I needed to have some pipes tripped and replaced, they will not cover that. For my money, it ain't good because they don't cover enough of the nuts and bolts that will pay for itself. I get charged every month and for that money, we're not getting the full benefit of having a warranty company that will come out and fix the problem without adding other charges to it that's not covered.

There was an error. Now, I have to call or try and resubmit it again for someone to come out to see me the fourth time. It's a bit of a hassle sometimes, because you're on hold for a while. I understand there’s a lot of people that utilize the services. But if you've got certain types of issues, they should expedite that just to make it easier. Because a person who's just resubmitting a current service call, that's usually easy. We just want an appointment for someone to come back out.
And the other thing is I've been waiting for a supervisor to call me back since the 16th. I know everyone's working from home. The first person I talked to on the phone on the 16th, looked into my issue and then said, “Well, I can't really help you get to a supervisor because I'm from home, so I can't transfer you.” I said, “Well, can you go ahead and send a message to a supervisor to give me a call?” And she said, “No.” Because when she tried to help me, she contacted the supervisor herself. And she said, “Well, I've already contacted a supervisor, so I can't have one call you back because I've already contacted them and already talked to them about the issue.”
I said, “Well, I’d like to talk to them personally myself, because it seems like maybe there's a little disconnect in how you and I are functioning through this conversation. So if they can contact me, I can speak to them personally, we can cut out the middleman and just talk directly. Not like they would give me any favor because I'm talking directly to them, but at least they would be able to feel the call and make a decision instead of going through a third person.” And she couldn't do it. So, I said, “Okay, thank you.” And I hung up the phone.
I called right back and talked to someone. All they got was my information. And I said, “Can I speak to a supervisor?” She said, “Okay, well, I'll have one call you back.” Only problem is I haven't got one. But it wasn't like pulling teeth just to get to talk to a supervisor. I was denied before. But I still haven’t spoken to one. The reason why I need to talk to a supervisor is because this will be the fourth time someone will come out for the same call. This would be three times I have to take off work. The first time, I understood. The second time, if they need to order a part, I can understand.
But the first time the person came out, he said, “Hey, everything looks fine to us,” then they left. While they were there, it’s not drying the clothes. We put clothes in the dryer. And when they left, they were still drying. I called them back because I had their number from calling me. I said, “The clothes haven’t dried, even though it went through the whole cycle.” And she said, “Okay, I’ll have someone from American Home Shield reset up an appointment.”
Someone was supposed to come to my house on the 16th. That person didn’t call or show. I contacted American Home Shield and said, “What happened?” I had to take that day off of work, because the window of appointments was from 12:00 to 5:00. I can’t just take off five hours, right? They said, “Oh, the person had an emergency, and they couldn’t come.” And I was like, “You guys are my service provider. Why wouldn't you personally call your client and tell them that?Don't rely on the technician to call me to say, ‘I'm sorry, I got an emergency.’ If they got an emergency, they're probably not going to call, because they have an emergency, and that's more important. But you don’t send the text, you don’t send anything, you actually call. That actually should warrant a phone call.”
I’ve been in customer service for a while, so I would imagine you want to make sure you get in touch with someone is really my point. Whether you got a call twice, whether you got to text and call, make sure you get some sort of confirmation that the person knows that “Hey, you don't have to wait around for five more hours,” if they know early enough.
It was on the 16th when I called, I set up an appointment, the person came on the 19th. Perfect. He was the most educated. And he even told me why he was. He actually trains techs in the field, and he works for Sears. Some of the other people, they were like personal contractors that had their own company, which is no problem. This person works for Sears. He gave me some insight as to what could be going on and said, “Okay. This is something you need to try because, unfortunately, it’s gonna take you trying this to determine whether there’s really an issue.”
And he said, “The first person should have told you, ‘Hey, if all the tolerances look good, if the dryer seems like it’s getting hot enough, and if it’s cycling back and forth and doing all that stuff, then your next issue could be a flow issue.’ So we need to check the exhaust pipe, the ducting that goes in the back and exhausts it out of the house or whatever, we need to check that. The best thing to do is unplug that, dry a couple cycles. Clean the lint trap first, dry a couple cycles. You won’t get lint going through your hose until the second dry, and see if it’s actually drying the clothes.”
No one has ever said that. He said, “Well, the first person should have said that because there’s no way to determine if this is really gonna work unless you do that.” Because you could still have the same issue, which now I still have. We went through the two cycles. My wife, immediately, after he left, put in a couple loads of laundry. And the first one, because it was a lighter load, seemed to dry pretty well. Then we did a load with three towels and it had a couple of sheets. We just wanted to make sure it was something that held a bit more water after a wash cycle. The washing machine is actually new. They replaced that through American Home Shield about four months ago. So it's not the washer, it’s the actual dryer. So now, we have to make another service call, which I couldn’t do because when I logged on, it kept giving me errors, which I screen captured the error.
So to me, the service is just not consistent all the way throughout. If you got to train on it, great. You're there with someone or there are videos you can give to your employees, or whatever, but train on something because a consumer is paying every month. And this is insurance. You can go for five years without having an issue and paying $40 a month. But you want that assurance that if something goes down, it's taken care of.
But then when it needs to be taken care of, you have to have consistent lines of communication. You have to have consistent information. One person I talked to on the phone did not give me even the opportunity to speak to a supervisor. The next person, without even really having to go into my issue, the first thing I asked her for was to speak to a supervisor. She did her due diligence because as you pass the call forward, the supervisor needs to know who the person is. It’s not just take a random call from a person to a supervisor.
She said, “Is there anything I can help you with?” It’s just another form of “Okay, maybe we can help you right now.” And I said, “No, I've already talked to someone about this, but I do need to speak to a supervisor.” And she right away got me her supervisor. That should be every person's way of doing things. We know everybody's not alike. But especially with this Coronavirus stuff, and people are now working from home, as contractors or as employees, then it's not like you can just go and knock on the door of someone and say, “Hey, can you help me?” They've got to be trained up, because you're at home dealing with it yourself.
Other than that, when it finally gets to a point where the technician says, “Hey, this is what's going on, order the part,” Home Shield seemed good about their follow up on making sure that whatever the technician said needed to happen, happens. The problem becomes when it gets to ordering the part or making a determination or doing whatever, sometimes that takes a long time. What they basically said, and their agreement with us is, “Okay, when you have an issue, we strive to have someone out to you within 48 hours.” That's what the barometer was set at, within 48 hours, you should have a tech to you.
I’ve had refrigerator issues. I don't want a bunch of food spoilage and nobody's gonna pay for that, But it has taken two weeks to get someone out to meet at one point. It has taken almost a month to have one of my refrigerators that I have fixed first. Finally, they ended up just paying it out or replacing. But it took four weeks to determine that. So, that's inconsistent. Whereas, when the washer was replaced, the guy came out, he looked at it, the thing was unplugged, the washer was unplugged, he went into the washer, and he spun the tub with his hand. And you can see when he spun the tub, that the readout showed as if it was on when he spun the tub. He said, “Okay, I know what that issue is, we need to replace this.”
You can't always get that kind of quality service, but it's nice when you can. And it should be the barometer that that's the kind of technicians they have. Because it's a numbers game. The faster you can see, the faster you can determine what their issue is, the faster you can get it fixed. The more people you can see, the more people you can sign up, the better your company looks. Home Shield should set a bit higher level of service for their technicians that are in the field.

Air Pro Heating and Cooling was excellent. They did the job and got out. Everything was clean and quicker than I expected. American Home Shield sent out a company that was a total failure before. I kicked that guy off my property. This time, everything was perfect. Things have been excellent since the repair.

About three weeks ago, I put in a request to have my hood range repaired because it was not coming on. Home Shield sent me to the same company four times that does not fix my hood range. So, every time that company would send them back, “We do not fix this item.” After I talked to three different people on the phone, they finally put me in a queue where they sent me to a different company that did fix it. That guy had me take a picture of my serial number and model, and said he would go ahead and order the parts and get back with me. That has been over 10 days, going on two weeks, and I have called that guy twice to find out what the status is. I've not got a return callback at all. So, I am in limbo and still do not have my appliance fixed.
The claim has been open for at least three weeks. But it took a week of them sending me to the same company over, and then the next day, over again, then the next day, over again. I finally got us on to somebody that would work. I'm still waiting to hear back from that guy. When I've called before, I've had a contractor come out within 48 hours and be able to resolve the problem. Part of the problem was my customer service representative was possibly located out of the country, because they did not know where my hood range would be.

There was a leak under the sink. We turn the water on and off. It was water constantly running from that point. Service people from DMV Plumbing and Heating came but they didn't fix the problem because they said American Home Shield didn't cover replacing the waterline. The only thing the warranty covered was replacing the faucet. If DMV were to fix everything, it was going to be $695 or 650 which was a crazy price. DMV ended up leaving and not doing anything. I ended up getting another plumber to do everything like replacing the faucet and the waterline and it was much cheaper.
That’s probably the second issue I had. I had another claim for the garbage disposal. It wasn't working correctly so service people came out. The blades had rusted away so the garbage disposal was not cutting. They tried to tell me that somebody broke the blades off. They didn't do that repair. The service people must not have had a lot of experience because that’s something that a plumber would know. I had to get somebody to install a new one for me.
There is no difficulty in the claim submission process of AHS. But if things are not covered and you report them, they should say that when the appointment is being made so people can save money. They wouldn’t have to pay that copay just for somebody to come out and tell them it’s not covered. That’s money wasted and nothing is solved.

I called in a claim when my downstairs toilet was running. The process was seamless. Draingo came out and they were professional. They gave me a window as to what time that they would be here and they told me that they were gonna call before they came. They did call before they came and they were within their time frame.
When they got here, I explained to them what the problem was. The tech immediately went to go and look at it and to kinda see what the problem was. He asked me a couple questions as to where my water valve shutoff was. They showed me where my outside shutoff valve was, so I thanked him for that. They rightfully went to work and within 30 minutes, they had the problem fixed. I was highly impressed. I learned a lot just from them asking me questions and trying to figure out stuff. Then I learned a lot about the different types of commodes and tanks.
I've had other home shields before. Their price was a little bit less. But after having problems with my refrigerator and having them to come out a couple of times and not getting the problem resolved, and then finally have it to cash out for my refrigerator, they cancelled me. American Home Shield was awesome then, even though it had to get a little ugly with them the last time. But as soon as I gave my grievances, they immediately came out and fixed the problem at my old house. So that made me reassured that they were gonna work at it to get it fixed. Even though it took a little time.
I would highly recommend them. The only thing that I kinda don't like about American Home Shield is the $125 service fee. I understand that I do pay a monthly service for it, but the service fee is a little uppity high. Maybe they could it lowered or make it comparable with the monthly service deduction. I'll pay a little bit more on the front end if I don't have to pay as much on the back end.

American Home Shield sent out a technician to our house and he seemed a little bit sketchy at first. He was already making claims that it wasn't covered, even before he looked at it. I called and I asked AHS if they were supposed to put in prior authorization before the contractor works on it because how would I know if something is covered. The rep said the tech hasn't put anything. He was already working on it and he hasn't made sure it was covered.
Then, he broke the front paneling of our garage door motor and left it open. When my husband approached him about it, he was kind of being threatening and my husband told him to leave. The guy left and put in a note to AHS. As soon as we tried to put our garage door down, the whole thing buckled. The arm went to like the left and the wiring was snapped. The only thing that was wrong with it before was that it wasn't opening or closing.
We called AHS and it sounded like we got someone from overseas because she wasn't really understanding what we were saying. She kept saying she'll put in a notice to her upper management and it could take 24 hours for them to get back to us. I told her I needed someone to come out ASAP because we have expensive things in the garage and we couldn't leave it open. We had to call someone else out to come and fix and shut our garage for us. It took two months for American Home Shield before they had someone come and fix the issue. That was a problem being in 90 degrees heat this past summer for two weeks with no air conditioning. Once they did fix it, it worked as far as the air conditioner was concerned. When the weather changed and it got cool, I turned it on to the heat, and the heat did not keep. I called American Home Shield back and the techs did another visit. It turned out to be the thermostat that was faulty. They replaced that, and I haven't had an issue since.
It's been very frustrating dealing with American Home Shield. When you call, you have to sort of start from the beginning every time. They tell you the same thing, that they're working on it or they're going to call you back. They may call you back, and then you may not hear from them at all. Then you have to just continue to call and call. You eventually do get through to somebody who will help you. Communication is a big serious issue. Part of that is because most of their consumer service people are outsourced. Nobody is in the United States at all. So, you get a communication issue where you’re not understanding what they are saying. You're not understanding their speech and they aren't understanding your speech. Even though they have all been very nice and sweet and nobody has ever been rude at all, it's frustrating that you have to continue to call back constantly in order to get put through to somebody who will help you.
Also, if you cannot get through to someone who can help you, they won't put you through anybody else. You beg, “Please put me through to the supervisor, somebody else who can do something,” and they won’t do it. They say that they will take care of it, and that they will get back to you. They don't keep their promises. I don't feel that they should be outsourcing their representatives. If they're an American company then they outsource their people to foreigners, that doesn't give a good image to me. For someone who is looking for a home service, I would not recommend this company at all. Even when I wanted to cancel my service, they wanted me to pay a fee to cancel my contract. Our experience with AHS has been great and submitting a claim with them has been really easy. Recently, our toilet was acting up. It wasn't flushing right and the handle wasn't working right. Pipe Solutions came out, took a look and fixed it. I love Pipe Solutions. We've had them out three times in the two years we've been here for different things and they've always been really good. We had another company come out one time but did not like them at all. AHS has been really good for us. My husband's disabled, and so he can't do anything. I can do a little bit of stuff, but we've just been able to call and they always send somebody out. We’ve had them out for everything and so far, so great.

Express Comfort's tech was timely, professional, and he got the job done. He also wore a face mask and shoe protectors. He tried to social distance as much as he could, too. AHS has been great as well. I've had to use them twice and both times were great. The other time had something to do with the air conditioning. It was just a maintenance type of call and the company that they selected was good.

I have always had extended warranty on most of my appliances. This is the first pre-owned home I have ever owned. So, I needed to have someone that would pick up the responsibility because the warranties were out on the appliances. I had heard good things about American Home Shield. Prior to this last service call, I was very pleased with the service. The heating element on my oven has gone out and the local provider that I have that is in New Braunfels was shipped a part that was not good. So, I have now been without my oven for almost two months.
The problem is I have talked to two different customer representatives at American Home Shield and neither one of them spoke English very well, and I'm not sure if they understood what I said. I have been in constant contact with the local service provider. She has been trying to get ahold of them, too, because they cannot understand that the part that was sent is the wrong part. I wish they had people in their call center that can speak English.
I called American Home Shield on an issue with my dryer about two years ago, and they were very prompt. The service technician was really good. Under the circumstances, because of the COVID and what is going on with bringing parts in from overseas, I think everybody is having difficulty right now. I run a chamber of commerce and our attitude right now is that everybody kinda needs to get a pass on this year because nothing is going right.

When filing claims, I'd go online, get my account number, and describe the basic problem. AHS called within an hour or so and said they were sending somebody over. They told me the name of the company that was going to send in the gentleman that was going to do it. I'd like to be able to get on a phone and not have to wait a long period of time and give them a description of the problem because sometimes doing it online doesn't give all the options. They give blocks to check off. I had an outside water faucet that wasn’t working and I had an inside valve that wasn't working. They don't give that option. I just got to put down two valves that are not working. If they would add notes to that online option, that would help. The plumber came in and switched out two valves. I've used AHS two or three times and they've been pretty good each time.

I was referred to Home Shield by another veteran. When we purchased that home, it wasn't brand new. I've been with Home Shield for five years. I've never really had an issue where I felt like I needed to speak with someone until now. This latest incident, for the most part, Home Shield has been great. I had a couple of things that were breaking down at the same time. My biggest issue is I had called in about my garbage disposal, and Patriot Plumbing is the only contractor that Home Shield assigned for my area. So when the tech came, it was an electrical issue. He transferred it over to Electrical. And then Electrical showed me, and I plugged in my cell phone in the outlet, so it wasn't an outlet problem. Then it was transferred back to Patriot Plumbing, which they fixed the issue today.
My biggest complaint was with the customer service. Calling in, I understand COVID, it’s tasking, but no one was willing to help. I've had three agents hang up on me. I was insulted. I was hung up after having to wait 20 minutes. Anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes online, call backs just to speak to someone. The way that it's set up is not set up friendly for the customer at all. And then, I received an invoice stating that I owe $75. I didn’t understand, if it was being transferred back and forth, why would I have to pay an additional $75? I told the young lady, “I know I don't owe the $75, the cost of transfer. I think some of the agents had actually created a new invoice.” So, when she walked through everything with me, there were multiple orders that were created that should not have been, which prompted the charges. But in order for them to come back out, I went ahead and paid the $75 last night. This is one of the worst.
I had to deal with what I had to deal with. But as far as customer service and the inability to reach the escalation department or to reach a supervisor or someone of that nature is very difficult. And each time, with the exception of last night, the final young lady that I spoke with, there was a severe language barrier. I felt like they were reading from a script and they didn't veer from it. So, my issue was not addressed.

The first technician came out, did some troubleshooting, and found the problem. Ordered the part. The part came a couple of weeks later. Sent a second technician out. He came in, put the part in, and the washer worked. So, as far as the overall experience, it’s pretty good. Very professional, friendly, and informative. They told me what they would do and whatnot. The overall concept is a pretty good concept. Home Shield's process of repairing costs money, but you get a good value out of having it. Because they come out, and they fix it without having you paying that full price upfront. That’s good.
In my past experience, it was an HVAC issue I had about a year back or so that has been going on. Apparently, Home Shield assigned the job to one particular contractor. And then after a month, I didn’t hear anything. So, I called the contractor up and they said they didn’t have a contract with them anymore. Home Shield should either keep the people on the contract more informed about what's going on as far as, “We’re not gonna use this particular contractor,” instead of waiting for a month to go by, for myself to call in to find that out. Because it was in the summertime, it was an AC problem. You could do better along the line of communication and be more consistent with the contractor they use. If you want to put a job out to one contractor, and the contractor came in and did the job for you, and then come back and say, "We're not gonna use that contractor no more," that is a confusing situation.
I understand there may be some problem internally with that particular contractor, but still, let us know what's going on versus having us to wait a month and then have to call the contractor for the contractor to tell us, “No, we’re not on that job anymore. They gave it to somebody else.” So, if they did, why am I waiting a month or so to get the service?

I was having problems with an electronic gadget. The beep would come on all the time and it changes the temperature and so forth on the fridge. So, the technician tested it and then ordered the part. When the part came in, he installed it. I did the claim online and at first, American Home Shield gave me a contractor who would be contacting me. So, I waited until the next day. But he didn’t contact me. I called them and they said that it was gonna be a week before they could come out. So, I requested for another contractor and AH Appliance Repair responded. The tech came out quicker and it was very good dealing with him. Since the repair, I’ve had peace and quiet.

I had the worst experience with this company. On two occasions I had an emergency and the earliest the contractor could come out was a week on out. Leaving me to pay a contractor outside my plan to come sooner. Totally pointless to have a home warranty if they can't address emergencies in a timely manner. I canceled my appointment on the second request.

The sales agents state that the contract covers all systems and appliances that you have chosen during the process of signing up no matter what age condition etc. They state you submit a request for service, someone comes out directly and your issue is taken care of right away. Some facts are, the company uses terms as expedited service request vs. actual service request such as what they determine urgent not you as the customer so if you have an emergency of no hot water, no heat, cooling, this is not included as expedited and is not explained anywhere in the contract. Also sales does not explain this to you. You as the customer are not entitled expedited service request 99.9% of the time. We experienced no Hot water as main source of hot heater stopped, called for service. Told it was expedited. It was not, told service was on its way, was not.
The company chose to delay the time of getting parts as they chose to use the system warranty vs. paying for it as they agree to when customer pay for this service as the warranty every month or year. The temperature in the area was 30’s with no hot water in my home for more than a week. More than multiple calls to the company no care to resolve. Moreover the company has no contact information for an escalation/resolution department. The corporate contact number is not reachable. It connects to the customer service number. Beware of this company. If you cannot reach anyone except customer service around the world that should tell you something. If you cannot file a formal complaint with the company that should also be red flag. When you see the commercial on tv it's so not true to what American Home Shield stands for or actually does.
Hi JaMita,

I’ve used AHS for several years now. This is the worst service I’ve ever had. I feel foolish because I’ve referred others to them. Dishwasher service visit on 9/28/2020. Same dishwasher has been repaired through AHS 3 times before. This is the 4th time. Supposedly ordered parts. Today is Nov 17. Soon I will have had NO DISHWASHER for 2 MONTHS!!! Said parts were ordered. I’ve called them over and over and over and have had NO ONE contact me. Now I’ve reported them to the BBB. Still have heard nothing. When I call AHS, they tell me to call Sears. When I call Sears, they say I have to call AHS.
Someone MUST take responsibility! Why do I pay $61 every month plus a $100 service call, which has already been collected, only to not have a dishwasher. I would not recommend AHS. They take NO responsibility for insuring the service has been done. It’s a Kitchen-aid dishwasher and I personally wonder if they don’t want to replace it because it is not a cheap dishwasher. I called AHS TWICE and SEARS ONCE while typing this review. Both told me to call the other. Still no resolution. What a rip-off!

I've had AHS on two properties for years. It's more for mental peace of mind of mine. So if I get hit with an air conditioner, a furnace, a plumbing leak, and a washing machine all at once, I'm covered. I wish I would have had it when I was a younger first-time homebuyer because those expenses can really damage the bottom line every month when starting out. American Home Shield is a good deal. I just don't take the time to really analyze the financials of it because I feel good having it.
American Home Shield hires the lowest contract price that they can get but that doesn't always mean they're bad. It's just a hit or miss. I had drywall repairs that I never got reimbursed years ago. The American Home Shield customer service is lacking on stuff like that. But most recently, the garbage disposal they put in doesn't work.
Drain & Plumbing Services came when the garbage disposal pipe was leaking. They said that it was piped wrong. It was odd because I had various stuff done and it all seemed fine. Then they said that I had to pay them $500 over and I went on faith with that. The guys did it but when they left, there was still water leaking. They had to come back and redo it. Now, it's not working at all. Sometimes, the switch goes bad up there. You press the switch on the light switch that turns it on and you get nothing. So I have to figure out how to do that.

I first got American Home Shield three years ago and it was affordable for us back then. I liked the idea of being able to select different coverages. The flexibility was pretty attractive. It's going well so far. I recently had a claim, and that got resolved a little bit sooner than expected. The tech set the right expectations. He told me the parts were a little bit hard to come by and would take a while. He gave me a more conservative estimate, which I appreciated in the long run. Because then, it was not a pleasant surprise when he just called me and said he could drop that day and fix it if I wanted. I enjoyed that and I was pretty happy about that.

I had a little leak underneath my sink. It got all squared away but it was like pulling teeth. They had their first gentleman that came out here, and someone that was set up with them as a plumber, and they were about an hour and a half away. The guy was trying to find a way to get out of here. He was lying. He didn’t come in with a mask. I had a really bad taste in my mouth about this plumbing contractor. We had a second opinion come out and they were great. They were only about 30 minutes away. It was an act of Congress to having a second opinion come out. It was crazy. American Home Shield told me that if the guy that came out for the second opinion had the same diagnostic as the first guy, they they would charge me the $75 fee again. But it was something that was totally different than what the first guy said. It took me another month to get somebody back out here. I was without my sink for a month.
Every time I talked to somebody at American Home Shield, it was always somebody different. American Home Shield has people from a third-world country taking all their calls. So every time I called, they could hardly speak English or even understand English. I was having a hard time explaining myself to the rep. It was terrible. American Home Shield's service used to great. Once you purchase the policy, it kinda goes by the wayside. The other thing that they have no clue about is the downtime.

I'm protected pretty good with American Home Shield but the only thing I have with them is they keep me on hold for an hour every time I call. Recently, we had a stoppage in the plumbing and leaks going under the house and through our floor. I asked American Home Shield for a plumber and I also asked for a second part of the problem which was a dishwasher that was also leaking. First Class Plumbing came out and it was excellent with them. They took care of the job for the plumbing. The dishwasher's motor was rotten under the bottom and the guy unplugged the sink with the plumbing. He noticed we needed to do a new piping for the laundry room which connects there. We're waiting to see if AHS could do coverage on it. If not, then we have to pay it. We didn't have the sink for a week. I had a big pail underneath it to do dishes ‘cause the dishwasher just came in today and we're waiting for that to be installed. We do a lot of dishes and we have to carry the bucket of water outside.

We put in a ticket for a guy to come out and do the winter inspection thing. He said the heater wasn't working. The sensor was reading too hot. So as a safety feature, it wouldn't turn on the gas to make the air hot. It would move there but not actually make it hot. And then I went to the Home Shield website and I said, "Schedule a heating fix." The guy came out, said it was the logic board was reading the thermostat as being too hot. But the actual temperature was just fine. But they replaced the logic board and that was that, and it blows hot air now. He gave us a 60-day warranty and left with a zero dollar invoice. The techs were all nice. The only noticeable negative thing was they all smoke heavily. But all in all, it went great, smooth, they were quick, and professional.

The dryer wouldn't turn on. I checked to make sure it wasn't an issue with the power. I tried to diagnose it myself and I couldn't, so I called the experts. I put the claim in on a Saturday and I got a notification that someone should get in touch with me. I didn't hear anything from anybody, so I contacted the contractor on Monday. They said they didn't have anything on their record and recommended I contact American Home Shield. I contacted AHS and they said it was overbooked and they would have to get another contractor out here.
I got a notification that Appliance Repair Ohio would be coming out and that went well. They notified me the day they were gonna be coming out and I got a text message that said a window of when they should be getting here. The technician himself sent me a text message to let me know that he was gonna be here that day and then followed up with another text message when he was about 20 minutes away. But I didn't know ahead of time that my dryer wasn't gonna be fixed that day. The first day is just a diagnosis. He did the diagnosis on Thursday and on Sunday, I hadn't heard anything back. I called AHS and they said they were expecting the part to be available a week later. But the part came in on Monday and the tech came back to fix the dryer.
The thing I'm not satisfied with AHS is communication. I get that they are working with the subcontractor to come out and do the work so there are gaps in communication and relating the information. But I wish there was something where when a technician said they've diagnosed a problem and are getting approval, AHS would generate an email to their clients for updates on parts - when they're expecting it to come and when the contractor would come out. COVID plays an issue because some parts aren't available as readily as they used to be in the past and I understand that aspect of it. I just wish there was better communication.

It was only making about 10% of what it’s supposed to. The same guy, Craig, came out again after I did a recall request and he determined that the radiator was unusually caked up with dust. He claimed it and he said that he was sure that it was the problem. Now it has started making ice again. Craig is an outstanding representative.
I've had Home Shield for over 20 years. I let it expire earlier this year over something I wasn't happy about. Then I waited for five months and decided I'd go back with them. I call in to submit a claim since I have had difficulty getting my account correct online. I've talked to American Home Shield about this on a long phone call a few weeks ago. Since I had the old account for so many years, I still had that set up and it would show, “Expired.” So, when trying to open a new account on the site, I will go through all the processes and then it will come up and throw up the old account again. So a rep told me how to fix that. And I've now done that. I'm not opposed to filing a claim online, but I like talking to somebody. American Home Shield has always been very reactive, so no problems there.

I've been a customer for over 20 years and though I don't call for many services, I've never had a problem with American Home Shield. I have two separate incidents recently. The first situation was the toilet was overflowing. I called them and they got me a plumber. He said he couldn't get out here that day but I needed somebody that day too with the situation that was going on. I called American Home Shield back and got a lady on the phone. While I was on the phone with her, the toilet was overflowing again everywhere. She claimed that she called four places and nobody could come out. I was saying to myself there's gotta be some kind of an emergency service and she hung up on me.
In my frantic, I called my daughter. She called Roto-Rooter and they were out here in like 30 minutes. I sent an email yesterday and attached the invoice that it cost me $396. I cancelled the service call so that they would give me back the $75. A couple of days later, the garbage disposal dismounted from the sink. I called American Home Shield again and got another work order. The guy came out at like 7 o'clock at night. He put the garbage disposal up. I called back because there was water dripping from the bottom of the garbage disposal. He came back and told me there was no leak. I have a bucket underneath the garbage disposal and there was soapy water in there from doing dishes. I took pictures and videotaped it.
They had an email service on the plumbing website and I sent them the pictures. The boss called me and asked what was the problem. I said, "Your guy has been out here twice telling me there's no leak when I have water all under the sink. I'm also worried about mold." I called American Home Shield again 'cause the guy had zeroed out the service call. They did send me another plumber and in 25 minutes, the guy put in a new garbage disposal and everything was fixed. They even followed up with me. They were fantastic and I would recommend them to anybody. My reverse osmosis was leaking as well and the guy said, "I don't have the part but I could tell you what to buy. If I had the part on the truck, I'd fix it for you." He told me where to go and what to buy, and my girlfriend and I fixed it in two minutes. He was excellent.
When I called to find out what was happening with the toilet situation and if I could get any reimbursement, the lady on the phone told me that an emergency service was never put through so that I could have had an emergency service come out here and not pay almost $400. The one time that I needed American Home Shield, it had to be $500 for the year, an additional $75 and the $396. That's not right. The Roto-Rooter guy also told me that because the toilet was overflowing the way it was, I should get somebody out here to check the mold. I didn't do that because I can't afford that. If American Home Shield would have gotten me somebody out here sooner, maybe I wouldn't even have to address that situation. It's the same thing when water was dripping under the sink for days. I don't know if there's gonna be any mold under there and that other idiot told me there was no leak but he was stuffing up the towels there.

He loosened the chain and checked the motor and return spindle. He replaced the lock the door goes on to and was out in an hour.
With AHS, I can apply for my service online. I wanted Smokey's to come back to my place for this claim because they serviced my garage 10 months ago. I couldn't do that online as AHS goes through their database and chooses whoever they want to send for me. If I hadn't gotten Smokey's, I would have had to go through the process of canceling the appointment and sending an email as to why I was canceling it. That's an extra step. Everything else has been good.

I was kicking myself for not owning a home warranty a year ago because in February, my refrigerator had to be fixed and it cost me $600. A home warranty could’ve saved me $500 or so on the repair that happened last year. This time, I bought a home warranty and then the icemaker went out. It's on the refrigerator in the condo that we rent. The company that came out was great. The thing I liked the very best about them was they contacted me ahead of time (the day before and on the day of). They contacted me to tell me about what timeframe. They not only contacted me to say the person is on the way, they also sent me a text message with the picture of the person that's going to be coming. That was huge.
I never had anything do that before, so I knew exactly what the repairperson should look like before he even got there. That was exceptional. When the guy got there, he was really quick. He didn't take a long time to figure out what was wrong and to explain that he couldn't use the stuff on his truck. He needed to order the part from American Home Shield. The company also contacted me to say the part is in and to schedule a time to put it in. I would definitely use them again. The tenant sent me a message saying the ice maker is working excellently, and he was thrilled as could be. He's the kind of guy who likes to do everything himself and he was super impressed with the repairperson and at how quickly they got it fixed.
The reason I chose American Home Shield is because my daughter has it. She's in Florida, she has a house and she purchased the home warranty. She has had wonderful experiences with them taking care of her heat and air system. When I suggested I was getting a home warranty, she highly recommended them. I didn't even shop around. I just got them. I'm very happy with it. They protect the components that they say they're going to. They don't come out and say, “Oh, well. That's not covered,” or “We can't fix that.” The heat and air service that I have now already told me, “Oh, you're going to have to replace that unit.” They have a vested interest in declaring my unit dead and me buying a whole unit from them whereas American Home Shield's goal is to fix the unit first.
This is the thing that I love about it and this is what I tell people. They will replace the unit if it cannot be fixed, but if it can be repaired, it will be repaired. The quality, the service and the follow-up are excellent. If I just had one or two service calls in the year, that pays for the whole warranty. I've already made back at least half or more of what I paid for the whole year to cover everything on that one icemaker call. The value is good 'cause somebody would charge their time out, and then they would’ve charged me for the part and for replacing it. That would’ve been a $300 icemaker.

My garbage disposal was leaking. I called American Home Shield and they took my deductible and scheduled the appointment then the guy came out. It was a straightforward process. The contractor looked at my garbage disposal, diagnosed the problem, and said I needed a new one. American Home Shield replaced it with no problem. I have used them for my HVAC unit as well. So far, everything I've done has been good. I noticed that some of the vendors that they deal with try to upsell you, but I don't think that's American Home Shield’s problem. The vendors fix one thing, and then they say, “Well, we can do this for you. We can do that for you. You need this. It's going to be an extra $500 for that.” I tell them, “Well, I don't need that right now, so that can wait.” Besides that, the process worked well.

The hot water heater wasn't working and the techs came in and they were very professional and very nice. They cleaned everything up and left in a timely manner. Submitting the claim was a pretty simple process. But they charged me for relocating the pipes. I didn't realize I would have paid for that because that was all part of the plan.

If something breaks, a home warranty helps with the repairs. My uncle told me about American Home Shield so I went with them. I've filed claims for the washer, the icemaker, the air conditioning unit, the microwave and recently, the dryer that was not heating correctly. I'm satisfied.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

We had an outlet that wasn't working. I called AHS and they said Electric Service Professionals would call me within 48 hours to schedule an appointment. When I connected with them, they came three days later. I had inadvertently fixed the issue myself and the techs explained what I did that fixed it. They were knowledgeable and they told me what to do if the problem happens again. So far, everything has been working great.

The salt water system on the pool wasn't working. They said they could fix it. But nobody told me that there was a part of the repair that I'd have to pay for. Usually American Home Shield will call to say that I have to pay for a part and ask if I wanna still proceed with it. But they didn't call me. They just repaired it. I was not happy to find out after the fact and I still don't understand why that part was not covered. Then I just found out from my pool man that the repair isn't working. So I've already reached out to the vendor. But in general, I'm happy with American Home Shield. Other than a few things, they've been great all these years.

I'm a very techie guy but I had a hard time using the website in the beginning. The customer service was pretty good though. Recently, I worked with their tech, Gary, and he was good. He knew what he was doing. He was not late. He opened the dryer and knew what the problem was. It took a half an hour or two and he fixed it. The stove and the dishwasher were also having problems. He ordered the part and when the part came in, he came and fixed it. Then I opened another ticket because the oven was not working. When he looked at it, he said the issue was the burner was leaking. He ordered the burner and when it came, he came and fixed it too. I will always recommend him. I will recommend AHS too. I have nine properties and I'm thinking to add AHS to some of them.

Our dishwasher suddenly had no power. Everything else worked around it. We submitted the claim on Sunday. I loved the fact that I could do everything online. The process was super easy. The gentleman called me on Monday and was here on Thursday. He found that it was a loose ground wire and fixed it within 20 minutes. American Home Shield was excellent. I'm very pleased.

It took Total Air four times to fix the problem. They scheduled one and the guy came out and said things that we needed. The second guy came out and said we needed other things. The third guy came out, he said he fixed it, but it went out an hour later. He came back last Friday and it’s been working ever since. It was a little upsetting because it was hot in my house and I had company over, and then it gets cold. But using AHS was easy and quick. I was satisfied with that part. Getting someone assigned and the appointment was two days later or the next day was pretty good.

The first claim we put in was for our microwave and the people that came in wound up replacing it. The people that replaced it made a mess and left it. But with the heating and air, and the refrigerator, the technician had been great, clean, and neat. Recently, we have two heating units and one of them was not maintaining temperature. Express Comfort Heating and Air came and changed some kind of gas valve then they had to come back and repair something else because it was still not working right.
I filed it online and it was a fairly easy process. My biggest concern with doing it that way is I can't really tell AHS exactly what's going on. They give a dropdown and I got to pick what's in the dropdown. I can’t explain the problem better. Right now, we actually have not only the heating and cooling, but we also have a claim in for our refrigerator, and it’s been broken for about a month. The same company keeps coming back. But then we had to put in another claim, and it's all online. When we call, we can't get ahold of somebody. But then, we've had pretty good experiences with them.

The refrigerator fan went out. The freezer was cooling but the refrigerator was not. I discovered the refrigerator problem late in the evening. I made the request for help very late that evening and the contractor contacted me early morning. I explained the problem to the guy and he was very responsive. He came out before noon, got approval, and drove to the parts warehouse. He got the part, came back, installed it, and it was up and running again. So that was phenomenal. Also, he was masked and cautious. He kept his distance. We had our grandkids here at the time, so we were a bit concerned. But he was very aware of the COVID issue. He was professional and very, very accommodating to what was going on. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. I did have an AC issue earlier on that was not as satisfying, but we were able to work through it. But for appliances outside of AC, it’s a great service and very reasonable.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

The furnace didn’t come on. Doctor Cool came out. The tech was up there for about half-hour. Then he told me to set the thermostat at a certain temperature, and I did that. My wife said, “I feel heat.” And they left. Then I went to turn it back on. It came on the second time. But the third time, it didn't come back on. So, I called them back to say, “What's going on here?” It’s not performing. They haven't come back out.
American Home Shield gave a quick response but they didn't give me any status about saying somebody else would come back out or the same company would come back out. They said they didn't have anybody they would schedule me with, but someone could come today or tomorrow between 10:00 and 2:00. I'm hoping they come today.

We were getting some leakage towards the bottom of the air handler in the garage. Water was accumulating slowly and we had towels soaking it up. BMS came out and they were able to determine that sludge was building up at the bottom of our drip pan. Although we've been changing the air filters frequently and sucking out to the drain line, it still formed in there. So they showed us a different way to drain the drain line. It's working great now. I've always had good luck with BMS. They always give us great service and we were pleased with what they did and what they found. They were also very friendly and very informative.

I had the water backing up from the garbage disposal side over to the rinse side. When it comes down to trying to reach Home Shield, it takes a while to try to get ahold of them because they have so many people ahead of us. But then, Island Mann came promptly. If they couldn't make that specific date, they still agreed with a time frame that allowed me to be present for them to come and do their work.
What the man found was that the garbage disposal was okay. But he found that there was a pipe that needed another connection to it because it was leaking water down under the sink. I told him I had a problem with the sink backing up on rinse side of the what-you-call-them so they need to check the garbage disposal to see if that was the problem. Also, it leaves a foul odor inside of the dishwasher. Since then, Everything has been performing fine. I have not seen any water under the sink. I also have had two other things done here. I had the Roto-Rooter man come and I also had the dishwasher and stove.
I was telling the man that Home Shield keeps going up on the prices. I've been with them since I had this house built in ‘96. We’re almost close to the same price as what the charge would be when the techs come out. Then Home Shield charges your card before the man comes and does the work. So, if the man can’t come on that particular day and he can’t come on the following week, your card has already been debited for $75.
Right now, I'm at $70 and some cents for a monthly charge from my contract and thing where other people are paying lesser than that with Home Warranty and other places. I understand they're trying to get their amount, but when you get up at a certain age, you got a fixed income. You got to give an account of everything that you put out. I understand everybody got to have a price. But when next year comes, that price is going to match what I'm paying for the service fee. How does that help me as a customer? Other than that, whoever they sent here was very courteous with their service and did what was necessary to do what was required.

I called American Home Shield and requested service because my washing machine wasn’t spinning. The claim process was very easy. The first repair company that they issued was very unprofessional. I was very dissatisfied and I was getting ready to leave American Home Shield. But they assigned the claim to Sears Atlanta. I was told to expect them within 30 minutes to an hour. The individual who came to my home was very professional. He showed me that there was a piece that had worn out through time and he had to replace it. That was a great experience. My washing has been performing well. The repair has helped tremendously.
