I will recommend AHS. As soon as they let me know who is assigned to my job, I usually do call to this person or to this business and set the time when they come out. Usually, I have no problems with their professional level and behavior. With the covid, they go through the side gate and put mask on. I'm happy overall with the service. Recently, A1 Pool and Spa Service was out twice for two different reasons. One was the circulation for swimming pool and another was the gas heater for the swimming pool was not working. Everything was fixed. A1 was here several times over and the guy does a good job.

The heat wasn't working. So then, we turned the thermostat off, but it was still blowing air out like the fan was still going even though the heat wasn't on. It was just blowing cold air out. Foster's Heating and Air was sent by American Home Shield and they were fantastic. They made a temporary fix that was working while they waited for a part to come in. In less than a week, they got the part and then came out and fixed it, so it was a permanent fix. But it did work in the meantime.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

When my heat wasn't working, I called the number on my paperwork and the process was very easy. This is the second time I've had to use American Home Shield since I've added the service and it's always worked seamlessly. I got an immediate response from the contractor that afternoon. The guy came and my wife said he was very polite, professional and helpful. It was a very good experience. My heat is a very old system, and for now, it's working as best as it can.

We had some leaking faucets and the tub was stopped up. Dave's Plumbing fixed everything while they were here and they did great. They were professional and they were amazing. I gave them a good rating on the survey I got too. Hopefully, if I ever have another issue, they'll be the ones that are called out because they were quick and professional. They were perfect. On the other hand, American Home Shield sucks right now. I've been waiting for five months for my refrigerator to be fixed and I’ve escalated it three times.
I set up the refrigerator claim on July 2nd, and GE came out on the 4th of July. The guy told us we needed to have our freezer door replaced. He fixed one thing because it was leaking water, and then he did something with that. He said he would have to order the part and told me he’d set up an appointment to come back in two weeks. GE called me and left a message. They told me that the refrigerator door was on backorder, and they were going to cancel that appointment. Once it came to my house, reschedule. That was in July. Since then, the refrigerator door is still on backorder. Now, they're saying it can be shipped December 30th.
After three months, we started calling and calling. We call them every two or three days. It’s that bad. Last week, we spoke to an escalation person and they told us that they were going to send the claim over to do a buyout because it's taking too long to get the part. They just need to replace the refrigerator, and that we should call back the next day. That was on Tuesday, so we called back Wednesday like they told us. They said, “Oh, nothing’s in here. It hasn't been approved. Call back on Thanksgiving Day. We’re open.” We called on Thanksgiving Day and nothing was in the system. Imagine how frustrated we are.
I’ve had other stuff, like with Dave's Plumbing, perfect. If it's something like the plumbing stuff, it has been on point. I had another plumbing thing and American Home Shield sent someone else. We had no problem as well. American Home Shield is being inconsistent though. They have us sitting in limbo while they're not doing anything. They don't call back either. Although GE is not responding to them, that's not our problem (as we've told them). We don't have a contract with GE. We have one with American Home Shield. At some point, they have to do something. Because now, my refrigerator is leaking water and they're gonna have to replace my floor because the water is pooling up on our hardwood floor under the refrigerator. It's bad.
We called back this morning, and the lady was very empathetic, but all the people that answered the phone can do nothing. They said they can't transfer to a supervisor. Their excuse is that it’s COVID. Everybody's working from home. They don't have the option to transfer you. They'll leave a message or send something and someone should call you back, but no one has ever called us back. It's been a mess, and we're tired of it. At this point, I'm gonna write a letter to the Better Business Bureau, because it's becoming like a thing. It's ridiculous.
We've had to call American Home Shield about 15 to 20 times now and they keep telling us that the manager or escalation analyst will call us back. This five-month refrigerator issue overshadows everything because they're giving us the runaround. That's the problem. I can't be the only consumer that’s going through that and I documented how many times I've called them.
Hi Wanetta,
Thank you for providing us with insight about your most recent service experience and the issues to have the refrigerator repaired. I owuld be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

We've made a lot of claims and we've only had issues with two of them. Sometimes it varies in what you can get and how fast the service is, but for the most part, the service is fine. Getting the service set up is fine as well. One issue I had was when I had a sump pump failure and it was an emergency. The homeowners came and got it out of the water, but it took a little longer for the sump pump to get replaced by American Home Shield 'cause it was covered. I had to get it on my own, and then they reimbursed me.
It was an issue because I had a dual sump pump and they only wanted to pay for the main sump pump, not the back-up. Both my back-up and main sump pump failed, so I had to explain to them why. That's just one out of dozens of claims though. It's very simple to submit claims. I either call in or go online. Recently, we had a low voltage come into the house and the claim was handled very well. Overall, American Home Shield is good. That's why I keep them.
American Home Shield is advertising a lot, but they need to clarify who qualifies for it. There needs to be clear communication on marketing their product. There's something in their paperwork that says you have to get American Home Shield within 60 days of you purchasing a new house, which is what we did for this house we're in now. However, a friend of mine wanted to get it too, but I didn't know if he could get American Home Shield 'cause he's an already existing homeowner. Home Shield needs to clarify if they cover people who buy the home immediately or is it something they can get while they've owned for some time already.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

I had a recent claim to American Home Shield for an AC repair. It was pretty quick and easy. It turned out to be just a loose wire. The tech came out and was here for two minutes, had it fixed, and left. The AC has been working fine. The claims submission process was pretty good. You fill it out online, you pay your $75, and then they contact you.
We've also had a pool pump claim, and then we had a dishwasher claim. We've had another AC issue a couple of years ago, but that also was kind of back and forth because the compressor was under a manufacturing warranty. That one got kind of expensive because they had to take all the Freon out and American Home Shield didn't cover what the Freon would cost. So, it's been kind of hit and miss. Some of the experience were better than others. The air conditioner was pretty quick and easy. They didn't have to replace anything. The dishwasher was the worst because it was back and forth for about four times. It didn't get fixed on the first, second, or third visit, but they ended up figuring out what it was.
Generally, American Home Shield is pretty good. I don't know that I would do without it, but it's nice to have it in case something happens. I'm always worried that if it got down to like replacing the air conditioner, would they do it or what it would end up costing me to do it. When they were doing the air compressor, as an example, it was a pretty new unit. They came in, they didn't want to work on it because they said it wasn't installed to code, but it was. So, we had this back and forth. Still, overall, I like having it just to cover the expense of it.

I spoke to AHS when I called and made the appointment. It was very easy. The reps were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They were customer first. And then, the plumber came out, knew what the issue probably was, went right to it and solved it. He did a fantastic job professionally. I have used AHS from the beginning since I bought this home. And every time that I called, great service. The providers are there on time. They got the best providers. I'm really happy with AHS. Very great experience.

The heater wouldn't kick on from the thermostat. If the temperature dropped to the point where the heater needs to kick on, I would hear it working but the fan and the heating unit wouldn't blow anything. The guy from US Air Conditioning of Texas came out the same day I put the ticket in with AHS and it took him 10 minutes to fix the unit. It was great. He had to replace an auto-starter, which activates the heater whenever it gets to the time it needs to kick on. He went out to his truck, got a new part, came back in, and put it in. It was super-fast. I couldn't have asked for a better service this time. With plumbing, though, it was a different story.
We had an issue where our hot water heater was leaking pretty significantly. I put a ticket in and they generally will go straight to a particular plumber but that plumber wasn't going to be able to come out for like two weeks. They told me that they had asked American Home Shield to not give them tickets because they were so backed up but AHS continued to keep giving them tickets. I had to contact American Home Shield and tell them the plumber cannot make it quick enough. They went and found another plumber but that plumber wasn't able to come out for about five days.
Then, a few weeks after that, we had a drain problem under the house. We put in another ticket and they sent my ticket straight back to the same plumber who asked not to be given tickets. It was another issue where water was leaking under the house and it wasn't going to be two and a half weeks before they would be able to come. For urgent matters, there could be some improvements made by AHS. But other than that, anytime I have something that needs to get fixed, it gets fixed. And the prices are reasonable. Even my issues with the plumbing still got fixed. I have no problems recommending those guys. It was a totally good service and I love having American Home Shield. We shopped around before we chose one whenever we were buying the house and they were the best.

Our dishwasher wasn't working so I called American Home Shield and the Sears guy came out. He realized what the problem was but there was a piece that was missing that was causing the dishwasher to leak out water. He went and ordered the part, came back the same day and fixed the rest. He was very professional and very friendly. He went above and beyond ‘cause he could have probably just said, “I'll have to reschedule you for another day.” Everything went great. We would call American Home Shield when submitting a claim and they would usually refer us right away to an outside agency. They would put in the order to them and then, I would wait for an hour. I would call the agency and they would email me what time they would be coming over. It was a very painless process. Everything else should be as painless. There was a leak in the garbage disposal so they had to put in a little bit of a washer. The guy was great and on time. He wore a mask and washed his hands. It was perfect. If it wasn't, I would have called him right back.
We’ve had a lot of other experiences with AHS and some were big jobs. We had a claim for the dishwasher and the microwave, which were both replaced and we also had faucets in our bathroom done. Before this guy for the garbage disposal, there was no Covid so they didn't have to wear a mask. So, it was easy to interact with them. But they were very nice and professional. It was a terrific experience with AHS. I live in a high-rise and I always tell people that they should give them a call. They'll replace the appliance if they can't fix it. I always market them to other people and whether or not they listen to me is another story.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

American Home Shield is usually pretty prompt when I submit a claim unless they can't find a technician at the time, then they would call me back. Also, the contractors have been fairly decent. ASAP came and did my plumbing. They redid all my sinks but I had to pay that out of pocket because AHS wouldn't pay for it. Then, a couple of weeks went by and my water heater went out. ASAP came out and the plumber, Mike, did a great job. He was fast and prompt and he showed me the problems. The other contractor that AHS has sent out was for my air condition and they were professional. They assisted with other things I wanted to do later on. I've told a couple of my friends about AHS. I told them to give AHS a call and see if they can be walked through what they want to be covered in their homes. AHS is a great company to be with and it's been a money saver for us.

AHS has been good every time we've had them come out. It's been an excellent service. I most recently had a claim for a broken icemaker and the tech was professional. The first time he came out, he told me what was wrong and that he had to order a part. When the part came in, they gave me a call and he came back out a couple of days later. The repair took about 15 minutes and the icemaker is working perfectly.

I was standing at the kitchen sink, and there was water on the floor. I'd wiped it off. Then, the next time I go out there, I realized there was water on the floor again. When I opened up the doors, everything under the sink was sitting in water. I called American Home Shield. The tech that they assigned called me immediately. They came out within a couple of hours. I thought it was in the pipe, but it was the disposal.
He had trouble getting the right size disposal. Ours was a five and he happened to have a three. I told him I didn't want to go with something less. So, he went out to Lowe's and over to Home Depot, and there wasn't anything on the shelves. He was able to run up the store and ended up getting something down for him. He was able to do it, he came back and installed it. He was the nicest technician we've ever had. He was very professional and very polite. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I've tried going online several times when submitting a claim with AHS, but somehow, it doesn't work. So, it's easier to call it in. Then, the recording gives me the confirmation number and the phone number of who’s gonna take care of it. We have used AHS quite a few times at our old house and here. I used to get the newsletter. I did it for three years in our neighborhood. We live in Herring Bay. To me, to be able to have the security that this plan offers, that's what sells it. Knowing that you can just call, someone will come out and they stand behind the work. There are so many people in our neighborhood that now use them because of our recommendation.

The contractor was out here a couple weeks ago and he worked on the furnace and got it running. It ran fine for two weeks and then, it did what it wanted when it wanted. There's a problem with the furnace that none of the people I've talked to seemed to know how to deal with, including the people that installed the system. Somebody needs to get ahold of York who's the manufacturer and find out if this is an ongoing issue. My daughter and son-in-law have American Home Shield. They've always been, "If we can't fix it, we'll replace it." I like the feeling of that warranty. I had a faucet repaired by a different vendor for AHS and all went smoothly but that's the only other problem I've had in almost two years of paying $52 a month. AHS has been a little bit beneficial.

AHS is a great service. We have a one year warranty with them and we added an extra year. That's how happy we are with them. I would tell others to definitely consider them. For someone who doesn't know how to fix things around the house, it sure comes in handy. The fee is minimum and the feeling of ease that somebody's coming to help you out is worth it. Recently, ABK Lock & Safe came out. They were putting new locks because we just moved in and we wanted new keys. They gave us new keys and changed the old locks. They were patient and nice. They completed the work the same day. I was very happy with that.

I'm happy so far with American Home Shield. I'm trying to get somebody to work on our gas line right now. We're on the third contractor to get someone out here. They should be here today but I haven't gotten a call from them. The first one canceled on us without notifying us. Then a new contractor was assigned. I couldn't get ahold of the second one for over a day. He ended up calling me saying, “I don't work on gas lines.” Then the claim closed. I had to call AHS again and pay another $75 to have a new claim open despite nobody having actually come to the home. They're issuing a refund on their initial $75, but we haven't had heat in a week now. I’ve been trying to get a person to come tighten the pipe.
There was a furnace issue. The contractor worked on it and got the furnace working. But within days, for the first time ever, we started smelling gas from the furnace after the service call. After we smelled the gas, we called the gas company. They came and detected an insane amount of gas coming out of there right after the furnace company was here. So, they cut our gas line because it’s gonna make our house explode. So, we don't have any gas coming in. We don't have any heat. They put a lock and a block on there and said that we had to get that fixed before they would turn our gas line on.
So, I called the furnace company first because that issue never existed before it was worked on. They came and said they can't do anything while the gas is off to verify the leak is in the furnace. So, we would need to call a plumber to verify there's no leak in the pipe up until the furnace. Then if it leaks in the furnace, that's where their work starts. So then, I issued a second claim for getting a plumber out here just to tighten the pipe and make sure there's no air leaking out of the pipes. Nobody’s come. Today, I called and said, “Please, just send somebody to my house to tighten the pipe. Please. I have toddlers, and they're very cold. So, please get them out here.”

I placed a call for a claim and a technician came out. He walked in, looked at the socket, and walked out without saying anything. Two days later, I get a report saying that the problem was not wear and tear. It had something about being tampered with, which was not true. Just by looking and not even touching, you would not know what the problem is. I called Home Shield and I told them what happened and they said to try a different company and get a second opinion to see if they come back with the same outcome. I was okay with that and the service company was to contact me in a couple of hours. I waited a week and a half but no one contacted me.
I contacted the company and the technician said, "Why haven't I been contacted for the service order?" Home Shield pretty much sent me to someone they didn't even think was reliable. The service fee would be waived on the second opinion but I didn't get the second opinion because Home Shield had them on hold. I called Home Shield back and told them what the situation was. I said, "At this point, this is my first experience with your company and it has not been pleasant at all. I would like to cancel." The rep begged me not to and that he would send out a third company without the deductible. That sounded fair. But if that didn't work out, I still wanted to cancel.
City First came out, went around, and did this and that. The tech told me he needed to remove some drywall if he had my permission because he needed to get into that wire that was behind that wall to fix it. I gave my permission. He then needed to get the company's permission. He said Home Shield would contact me in a couple of days and I was fine with that. But no one contacted me. I called Home Shield to ask what was going on. They told me what the report said. I couldn't understand how it was that the tech put on the report that the damage was due to a screw or a nail on the wire. I wasn't pleased with the report for the reason being that what was honored was incorrect. He was unable to get to the wire because he needed to open a wall. I couldn't understand how he could determine something like that. But that led to American Shield to not approve the repair.
When I called the service company, the person there told me that the report would be modified and that portion would be removed. They would get back to Home Shield with a new report. But I told them, "That's not going to work. How are you going to modify a report and then send it back when you already said something." I called Home Shield. Now, they're asking me for the deductible, which they said they would not charge me for and they're charging me for the monthly fee when I canceled my policy. This policy was just activated in October. I do not recommend American Home Shield. I told the representative when I was on the phone with them, "I understand it's not your fault. You're just the representative. But the contractors that work for this company make no effort at all."
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The next day, I called and the gal said, "They're waiting for the part. We won't schedule the appointment till you get the part." He never said anything about that. Then she tried to sell me some kind of full house coverage. I was not happy. I'm still waiting for the part and I have no idea when it's coming or what even. Hopefully, it will be coming.

Something happened up at the top where the water fills the tank and it was leaking water into the tank when the washer wasn't on. AHS sent out techs to work on it and they were able to fix that very quickly. And it’s been beautiful since. In the past, my wife told me that there's a website to go to for submitting claims with AHS and she also gave me a phone number. We've used both options and both have been very good. Also, every time we've submitted a request, we have someone from AHS who calls to confirm what the issue is. From there, we get a call from whomever is doing the service where they tell us what time their tech will be coming out and if that will work for our schedule. They're always great about that. They always make sure we're going to be available and it’s not going to be something where we're going to have to cancel other appointments.
My interaction with the contractors have always been pleasant, too. We've never had anybody who's been rude and the toughest challenge that I've had was someone having a very thick accent. I just had to have them repeat themselves a couple of times. I'm also partially deaf, so that also feeds into it. But the people in the office who were calling out have always been very polite and the service technicians have been calling to say they're on their way every single time. And everyone's always been very professional.
One time, we had our refrigerator worked on and the tech came out multiple times. His name was Grafton and he was getting bad parts delivered to him. The parts that were shipped out came in warped or damaged, so it was a challenge. We had to find a place to store our frozen foods because the freezer wasn’t working. And we have a new freezer now. Other than that, AHS gives us fast and speedy service. Their response time to us is very quick and the people they provide to give us the service are always top quality. I also recommended AHS to my mom and told her that if she could get the warranty, she should.

They were practicing safety as well. However, when I do a claim online, I can't be as detailed so I like to call in. It's always better to call in.

When you buy a home, you purchase a home warranty. It makes no sense not to. We all know people who do not have home warranties, and then something happens, and they're stuck with the bill. I believe in being proactive instead of reactive. My spouse is a real estate agent and American Home Shield came recommended through her. People also say you should listen to your spouse. When we had an appliance claim, AHS provided a great service. The service member came out there, got the necessary steps provided and we didn't have to wait that long. Once I paid for it, AHS reimbursed me.

When my sump pump would run, I would hear a grumbling noise underneath the ground of one of my drains 'cause there was water coming up then would go right back down to the drain. My downspout was clogged up, so someone came out and he unclogged it and flushed out the line. Service was fine. He walked me through the whole process, which was good, and let me know the progress. Everything went as expected, so I appreciate that.

I submitted the claim online and it took the technicians two days to come out. But we got a cold snap and when we have that, everybody calls so I figured I was just in line. My girlfriend was there when the technicians came out and she said they were very polite. They wore masks. They were nice, unlike the last people we had. It was great using AHS. My microwave's door handle broke. I called American Home Shield and they set up a company. Maughanster called me and set up a time to come out. They came out early, which was great for me. They ordered the part and it only took a couple of days. We set another time for them to come out and put it on. They came out a day before it was actually scheduled and I was very happy with that. It didn't take any time to get my microwave fixed again. It was great. Also, the techs were very respectful. They came to the door and asked if they should put booties on their feet and stuff to come into the home itself. Also, they were very polite and answered the questions that I had as far as where they’d be getting the products from. American Home Shield is one of the top-rating companies that when you have issues, it takes no more than a day for them to call you back with the company who is ready to come out and serve you.

I tell everybody about American Home Shield. In this time and age, these repairs can be very expensive so it's nice to have a backup plan. The tech, Brian was good, very professional and right on the money. He was working on a stem that had kind of rusted out. When you take a shower and turn on that cold water, you have to twist it maybe 10 times because it pretty much had rot off. So I needed a new stem then the knob.
The only thing is when he brought the knob that go to my tub for the cold water, it works but it's aftermarket. The lift of the turn knob was longer than the other ones. AHS does a great job but it's not going to be a perfect one. That was the only thing. I'm paying $51 a month and I would like to get the pieces that are supposed to go there and not that piece that didn't go there. I should have read somewhere in the bylaws that although they perform the work duty as promised, be mindful that they're not going to have the original parts. They might use something different or that's comparable. But it's cool. I'm making it work and getting my showers in. Everything is working.

We had an issue with the microwave and the contractor handled it in a timely manner. But I’ve had lots of problems in submitting claims to American Home Shield. I submitted a claim in May for my air conditioner and a company came out. They continuously said that they couldn’t find the part. It went on for months and then eventually, the vendor gave up. They were blaming AHS because AHS was saying that they needed to supply the part. Another company came out and the exact same thing happened. AHS would never return a phone call. The original ticket was for the air conditioning but I realized it was a heating system too, so I went all summer without air conditioning and then, fall came and I had no heat, so I had to do something. I had somebody else come out and fix it.
I ended up requesting a cash-out because AHS wasn't doing anything. I'm in the process of getting it. They gave me a value of $1,300 but it actually cost me $1,500 to fix and I have the request in. They've not responded to anything. I eventually got them on the phone and that was what they told me they were gonna give me but I've not heard anything back from them. I've not seen a check and I've not gotten any confirmation on the request nor the hard copy of the request. I paid for it so I'm waiting to get reimbursed. AHS was horrible. I've never been a huge fan of programs like this but my boyfriend is and he was the one who insisted that I do it. It's not worth it. We pay $90 a month plus you pay the $75 with each call. I don't see how it pays out. They obviously don't like to cover anything big, so I don't believe in the plans.

In these places, Home Shield that advertises, you don't know if it's as good as advertised. I got Home Shield because someone from work had recommended it. Even though I heard great things from him, I still wasn't sure. As I researched these things, I read online some people have good experience and some people don't and maybe that has to do with the contracting company that comes out to fix stuff. I was eager to find out whether I was gonna have a problem with them or with the contractor like other people have had on reviews.
I had a leaking showerhead. At first, I wasn't sure what the problem was. I replaced some parts in the faucet area. That's usually what it is. It's never the problem with the showerhead. I took it as far as I could go without a plumber and after I couldn't stop the leaking, I needed a plumber to see if they could fix what I couldn't. I called the home warranty company over the phone and I didn't have any trouble with the person helping me, but I couldn't get it done that day or when I wanted.
It has to be when that contracting company is available. That's the only thing that I didn't like about the experience, but that's something Home Shield wouldn't even be able to control. Also, I'm sure it's going to vary, but when I finally got the contracting company out here, they were nice and helpful. They were in and out in 15 minutes and everything went smoothly. My whole experience with Home Shield was great.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had to cancel it again, and they gave me another option. When they came in, they worked very quickly and efficiently. It's been working fine ever since. So it was a great experience.
When I did my claim online, it was quick. After I signed in, they asked me questions along the lines of what my issue was and what appliance my issue was with. After asking that, it asked me specifically what was wrong with the appliance. Then it allows you to make comments. Shortly after that, somebody gave me a call to schedule a day for them to come in. So it was a really quick turnaround. Everything was really smooth.

There was a wall plug where the socket had burnt out and I was able to call it in. The electrician was very professional. He did a great job. But for the call before that when I had my stove, I was very upset. There were three gentlemen and they were not coming in. I told them which way to come into my house. They said, “No. This is the way we’re going in.” He told me, “We’re going through the front door.” I said, “You go this way. You can take the stove in.” They just turned around and left the stove in the middle of my driveway. They put it out in the rain and I installed it myself.
I called American Home Shield but I couldn’t reach them to make the complaint. I called the gentleman and that gentleman acted like he'd get back to me. He played it off. I told him, “If I ever have problem with electrical and your company’s name comes up, I’m gonna tell them, “No way.” If American Home Shield uses them still, they’re bad. They are very not professional.
I’ve been dealing with American Home Shield for years. They were always good. Outside that experience I had with them, everything was fine. We’re very satisfied with the way they do things. When we moved down here, there was another company that my wife recommend. I told her we’d go with American Home Shield ‘cause we know what it’s like with them. I would recommend them to any individual. I even got my mother-in-law take them and also my brother-in-law to take them recently. My neighbor across the street got them which I recommended. The person next door sold her house for another house and she took American Home Shield. They were satisfied too.
Even though we go through these problems with the pandemic, it was very good that I could reach American Home Shield. There are a lot of companies that you can’t reach right away. When I made the call, the young lady stayed on the phone, took the information and got back with me right away. When I made this other claim, it was a little longer. It was a different person. But this young lady was very professional. I was on the phone maybe a half hour but she got all the information right then I got the information right after that. Normally, it’s like the next day until somebody contacts me. She gave me the contact of the electrician right away so everything was good.

When I tried to call American Home Shield to file a claim, they said it would be an hour wait. That part was not good because I wanted to ask some questions before I actually decided what to do. But the wait time would have been way too long, so I just went online and figured it out. I don't get to speak with anyone and so I have a limited amount of options about what I would like to have them do for me.
I had the inspection on the air conditioner and furnace that Beaches Air Conditioning came out for and I thought they did a really good job. The guy was thorough. He checked it all over and it's in good working condition. It's just that not a huge amount of air comes out of the air ducts. But he said they were in good condition. He told me that I could have somebody who specializes in ductwork come out and look at it if I wanted to. I thought they were the people that did that. He looked at it, but what it felt like to me was if there had been something wrong with it, I wouldn't know whether they were gonna fix it or if I would have to get someone else. We're trying to decide right now whether we want to renew the warranty so it might be a good thing to call American Home Shield.

There was a toilet that was running consistently and the guy from Plumbers Inc. fixed it. But just yesterday, it started running again. Despite that, the tech was good. Aside from that, my washing machine has been out since early November and I called to set up an appointment a couple times. When the techs came out, they worked on it, but every time they came out, they didn't fix the problem. So, they diagnosed the problem correctly, did everything they were supposed to, and got the parts. But some of the parts that they were receiving were damaged, so they had to reorder them. Unfortunately, I had to buy a new washing machine. But they still haven't come out and now, they sent me a text saying that they were willing to come out today. But at this point, I don't want them to come out. I just want my refund back for my deposit or the thing that they did.
Other than that, in terms of getting a hold of somebody to speak to, AHS should have American customer service reps versus someone from another country where they have their customer service reps allocated to. Because they couldn't help me when it came to my washing machine. They transferred me three times to the supervisor but because there was no one on this side of the country who could understand what was happening, they couldn't do anything for me. And that was the reason why I bought my new washing machine.

The company was great. It sucked that everything always happens on a Friday, so they couldn't come out to Tuesday. And that's no good with not-flushing toilets. We've had a few plumbing problems in the past, and they were always on a Thursday or Friday, and the soonest they could ever come out is Tuesday. I figured that was just what having a home warranty was. Everyone was great about contacting me right away. So, that was good. Even though it was a Friday afternoon, I still got contacted letting me know that they couldn’t come out until Tuesday. The going-into weekend is just the luck of the draw on that. I'm very satisfied.
The techs were professional. They made an effort to try and figure out the problem from the outside. Although, it was obvious that it was a clog at the cleanout in the backyard. They were able to fix it right away and didn't even have to come inside, which is great, because of the Coronavirus. And he wore a mask when he came up to the front door to let us know he was here. It was fantastic. Some people would just come up to your door who aren't wearing a mask in this pandemic.
Definitely get American Home Shield. We've had a water heater go out on us, and we've had the plumbing problems a few times, and definitely it's cheaper than out of pocket. Go with a home warranty. And if you're talking about interface or cost, we had a home warranty here, when we bought the house and it was through AHS, so I went with the same contract. I did a lot of price comparison outside of that space, but it's easy to view. Pretty happy with it for the times we've had to use it.

I turned my heater on the 19th. I had heat. We had warm days. So, I didn’t notice anything. But last Monday, cold air came in, and this unit was blowing cool air. So, I called American Home Shield and they referred me to who they contracted out, which was Myers. I called Myers. They couldn't come see me until Thursday. The guy came on Thursday and he was real nice. He said there was a stuck valve. He cleaned it out and said he fixed it. I had heat on Thursday.
On Friday, the house was cool. I went on to work. I don't get home from work until around 8 o'clock Thursday night, and the house was cold. So, I called the number and I got an answering machine that told me they have office hours on Saturday. I left a message about my problem. On Saturday morning, I didn't hear from them. I called again and their office hours state that they're open from 8:00 to 5:30 on Saturdays. I didn't hear anything.
I placed another service request with American Home Shield because it was the same issue. On Sunday, I suffered through no heat. This morning, I got up at around 8:30. I called them because I kind of expected them to listen to their messages and make the phone calls. They said, “Well your unit’s fixed, and you're supposed to pay us a maintenance agreement for $149.” I'm said, “No, no, no. You're supposed to come out here and fix it. And heat, for one, that’s just not fixed. I'm sorry. I can't believe that you called as fixed when I had heat for one day. That's not fixed.” The person said, “Well, it has it here that you're supposed to pay for a service, for a maintenance agreement for service on your unit, and that there's nothing wrong with the unit.” I told her, “No, he didn't have this conversation with me ‘cause it would have been a whole different conversation Thursday if he had.”
I said, “He wrote on my paperwork that I can have a maintenance service with them for fall and spring $449. That's what he told me. Y'all need to come fix it. The issue was it was blowing cold air. You haven't fixed that.” She said, “Well, you have to have a maintenance service with us for that to be fixed.” So, I called American Home Shield back. They told me that they would call them. They called them and they got the same load of crap that I got that it needs to be a maintenance service for them to come out, and for me to come out and pay for a maintenance service on my heater. But that was not what my warranty was. I've been without heat for a week. I have a broken foot, and I'm in a house with no heat.
I told American Home Shield, “Y'all need to fight it out. I'm the one that doesn't have heat. You either make them come out here and fix it, give me somebody else, or give me my money back and I'll call somebody else.” At this point I'm like, “Even if they came back out here, can I trust what they're doing to be reputable work?” They just want me to pay $149 for a maintenance service. I don't even consider their ethics to be very true.
I've had other experiences with American Home Shield. My microwave messed up. Someone came out, fixed it and I had no problems there. I had a problem with my toilet. Somebody came out and fixed it and I have no problems there, too. My experiences with American Home Shield have been great. My experiences with other repair people coming to my home has been great. I would recommend American Home Shield to someone else. On the phone, they have been very courteous and professional. They've been prompt and have taken care of me. I'm hoping they can get my issue with Myers resolved, though. They need to do something because Myers is being very unethical. Telling me I need to pay for maintenance service and there's nothing wrong with the unit is ridiculous.

That gentleman was supposed to come on Monday. He called on Sunday and said, “Can I come over today?” We said, “Sure. Great.” So, then he did. Then we were only here for a week, and then we had a trip planned. So, I kept calling and he kept saying, “Well, I'm the one who's got to write the report to get your approval.” So then, we had to leave. I left it alone. When we got back, I called American Home Shield. They said, “Oh. Well, this has been cancelled. This work order.” They assigned me to another company. The guy's name is Howard, and he's with Lundy’s.
Howard has been absolutely exceptional and very attentive. He's done a wonderful job for us. He did all the work, and we paid for the Freon, which we realized we had to pay for. Then, about two days after he got done, we started the unit up, and the thing was so noisy. So, I called him right away. He had the serial number on the unit, and he found out it was a refurbished piece of equipment. He was able to get the actual Trane piece of equipment. It was not a refurbished one, but a new one. So, so far, it seems to be working fine.
This has been my second claim since we started with American Home Shield. The first one, that I also had very good luck with, was my ice maker in my refrigerator. That was a Sears repair, and they did a very good job, too. I have not had any problems with American Home Shield. I was very satisfied in the two interactions we've had. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield.

I feel secure having something like American Home Shield and paying that monthly premium that when things happen, there's a company that is easy to deal with that's not gonna run me through the mill and back to try to get out of the claims. They stand behind what they put out there to be. Not everybody does that. It's really good to have that and they've really helped out a lot. Had it been just me taking care of some of the issues, it would have been a lot worse. I'm very grateful that it's not. Submitting claims is pretty simple and I don't have any complaints, other than the time of how stuff goes. But AHS is really good at taking care of this stuff. I've called them on the weekends and late at night and they've answered the phone. They've been wonderful and great. Recently, my furnace wasn't acting right. Crispy Air & Heating came out and they did what they needed to do and fixed the problem.

The online process of requesting service has been going well with American Home Shield. It beats calling and holding for an endless amount of time. The people that I've had in my home recently seemed to be knowledgeable about the repairs. I haven't had to call back because a repair was not complete or satisfactory. The tech sent by AHS for our garage situation was great. He addressed everything had a lot of input and knowledge in what he was doing. So, we were very pleased. During the lockdown, our microwave completely stopped and we had to have a replacement. The gentlemen who came were wonderful. They had masks on and I was pleased with that.
We moved my mom here and we built an addition to our home for her. The addition is not covered under American Home Shield because it has new appliances. She had AHS at her old home though and I had to cancel that policy for her. When they canceled it, there was an amount due and we had to call back several times to get the amount credited. If I have to call and deal in the realm of contracts, pricing, and any kind of credit, it can get frustrating.
With AHS, I've had an increase every year since we've been in our home. Instead of calling us and having a conversation about why the cost is going up, we get auto-renewed every year. So, when the statement comes, I see that there has been an increase. With nothing to justify that, it's concerning. Service is much better than it was but I'm not liking the whole contractual thing.

We'd run out of hot water after about 10 minutes then we wouldn't have hot water for the rest of the day. The guys came out and found out the hot water heaters were in vacation mode because the house was vacant for 110 days. It was a simple fix but they did a great job. It was fixed within an hour and a half. I hope if I ever have any more plumbing issues that AHS will send those same guys back out. It's been an excellent experience with American Home Shield. I’ll definitely continue using them. We also had the doors rekeyed and we're waiting on an electrician. Our oven went out the other night and the appointment is not scheduled until December 10th.

My first claim with AHS was that the tub was leaking. The tech went out there and the report said there was nothing wrong. I have a buddy who's also a plumber. He said what was happening was when the water was turned on, it was being splashed out because of the door. American Home Shield didn't really tell me what was up with the tub. I was expecting a hole and they just told me everything was fine. But our recent claim with AHS was handled perfectly. I had a leak in my refrigerator and it was rectified.

I was researching American Home Shield online, and they had decent ratings. The house hadn't had a warranty on it since the first year that we moved into it. So, we figured that with the age of the house, it’s best to kind of get something in place in case we come across any emergency. I've called American Home Shield twice for two different issues. One was for a furnace issue and another one was for plumbing for the toilets. Both of them were handled within 24 hours of when I placed the call for the service. On the most recent plumbing issue, the plumber said that there was some debris that got into some of the piping on the outside of the house. He stated that the covers were somehow removed. They weren't placed on the pipes directly. So the debris got in there, which ended up causing a blockage.
Before the service call was placed, the lady I spoke to did ask about COVID-19 status, and it's just me, my wife, and my son. My wife and my son don't really go out. They’re homeschooling, both from home, so I'm the only one that goes out. We take the protective measures. The gentleman that came on site also had a protective mask and some gloves.

Our air conditioning unit was leaking water on the floor when it was on. The tech came out and he found the problem right away. He told me what it was and then he would have to wait until it was 65 degrees. So then, he called me and said, "Hey, it's been over 65. Let's do it." At the same time I did that claim, American Home Shield had a special where you could get your heating checked to see if anything was wrong. I paid for that. Then the company called me to set up a date and time.
On the day of the service, they called me and told me they couldn't do it because we live in a manufactured home. It took me about four weeks to get my refund from American Home Shield. I called them back and told the guy that the company canceled and that they never sent anyone else out. The guy told me that they could set it up again, but I need to pay another $75. But I said no to that and that they should give me a refund first, and then if I decide to do it, then I'll do it. When I started with American Home Shield, they sent me the contract once everything was signed up for it. The contract gave me information but some of the information needs to be in layman's terms because I was reading through it and I had no idea what certain things mean. But otherwise, it has been perfect with them.

He was very quick in resolving the problem too. I was with another company for quite some time. The reason I switched was a friend of mine recommended AHS. The difference is my old policy didn't cover my appliances but AHS does. But whenever I placed the service call, there was never an additional fee with the other company. With AHS, I feel like every time I'd place a call, it's gonna be $100 fee. The technician was here probably for a 10-minute problem which I was told was a flame sensor. I asked if that part gets replaced and I was told no, it just gets cleaned.

Once the contractor replaced the control board on the washer, one cycle worked. But when I switched it to another cycle, it showed me an error code. There were two different error codes. I reported that back to American Home Shield and they called the tech back out here. He came and looked at the washer and made some calls to a few different people including the appliance manufacturer, Maytag, and there was no resolution to the problem. The tech couldn’t fix it so I was issued a replacement offer. I got my appliance and I sent an email to AHS. It was all online. There was no actual receipt but there was an online invoice. I took a screenshot of that and sent it. Then, it said that I would hear something back within 21 days.
There was one other claim with AHS because we had a power outage and the furnaces needed repair. The contractor came out and the problem was that the transformers on both furnaces were out. They told me that they've dealt with AHS a lot and the transformers were not going to be covered. So, that was discouraging. It was $450 and I paid for that, and the techs repaired it. But other than that, everything's been good.

It heated up but the very next day, it went out again. So, he came out again yesterday, and replaced it again. It went out again. So, he's coming again tomorrow morning. It's not the fellow doing the work. They knew exactly what was wrong, and the unit is clean. We just have no idea what's going on with it.
As far as doing claims to AHS, I don't like to go through the internet because their choices are not really the choices that I want to do. They got dropdowns and things of that nature and it generally doesn't pertain to what the problem is. So, I always call. Even if I've got to wait, I'd rather talk to a person. I was with American Home Shield for 19 years. I left because they did not have a senior citizen’s discount. Mostly, everybody does. I went to Choice Warranty, which literally sucks. Every tech they sent out didn't even speak English. So, I went back to American Home Shield. They gave me a better rate than I had. But then they upped my visits. The normal visit was like $75. They went from $75 to $100. It's kind of like they give it to you on one end and take it back on the other. I'm not satisfied with that.

I can't understand how it takes that long to get a part for an American made product. And the part still isn't in. They said that AHS didn't okay it but AHS said otherwise. I believe Mr. Appliance is lying and wanted to get the money first and I don't think AHS ought to use them again. But other than that, the contractors do exactly what they're told to do. When the igniter switch went out, the guy had to come out and replace the igniter three times and kept putting the same one on there. Came summer, we didn't use the heater and when we turned it on, it was the same faulty part.
I had switched to AHS and Jake with Stockdale Service took care of it. Unfortunately, it happened during Thanksgiving so it wasn't until Sunday when they reached back out to me. With American Home Shield, we've never had any difficulties getting people out. It’s always been really good. They’ve always been really responsive. The first time technicians came here was before COVID but they still wore gloves. The guys, when they’re here, put the covers on their shoes. Everybody’s been super nice and cool. He took great care in trying to change what he changed. It just didn't cure the problem. So now, I'm waiting on a control board to be ordered, and then he's gonna come out and install that.
American Home Shield's claim process has been pretty good. I didn’t go crazy about the company that was selected. I looked on Yelp, and they had bad reviews. Then, my neighbor said, “You’d be better off bringing people in yourself.” They haven’t fixed the problem, but so far, I have not found them to be horrific but we’ll see. If I get the issue fixed, that’d be great. My neighbors were all like, “Don’t use that company. Do not use that company.” But that was who American Home Shield selected and I told them about it, but they still selected them.
I've had good experience with American Home Shield. I had a condo that I owned and rented out. Air conditioners and refrigerators just aren't my friends. There’s always something going wrong, but I’ve certainly had pretty good experience with the responsiveness, how quickly it happens and how quickly they put someone on the case. Also, in every case, I've always had something resolved immediately. I had a couple of air conditioner things with my place in 2018, and they were resolved quickly. The parts were taken care of. I have recommended AHS to some friends of mine and some just got a handyman to do certain stuff. That’s fine, but still, I recommend AHS every time.

When we call, we have to go through so many prompts to get a live person. We get that there are people who use the prompts and that's simplified for them. But for somebody like us who are both disabled, there are certain things that we can't be without for long periods of time like air conditioning. Those prompts don't do anything. If you want a live person, you have to go through eight prompts to get to a live person. It’s very annoying and we don’t like that at all. But AHS is very good about getting people out here once we get a live person and they know that we have to be expedited. We've only ever had one problem. With this whole plan, we have the insurance for the air conditioner because we knew it was old and we were like, "We'll just maintain this, and hopefully, they'll do something about it someday," which they don't really do. They just keep putting band-aids on it. So we were like, "We need a new system." And then, we got one, and now we will probably gonna cancel American Home Shield's service. I have AHS for three properties. Sometimes, it's a nightmare dealing with them. Sometimes, it goes well. Sometimes you get a good contractor that comes out and knows what he's doing, and sometimes they'll send out some rookie who has no clue, doesn't know what he's talking about, and doesn't know how to diagnose an issue. My GE oven wall unit stopped working back when covid started. I had some GE guys come out and they weren't wearing masks. They misdiagnosed the issue and had to come back out a month later. They also lied to me. They tried to say it was something else when it wasn't. They tried to blame my circuit breaker when it was a heating element on the oven. It was cold outside and when I was trying to turn the furnace on, it wouldn't come on at all. I called AHS for somebody to come out and see what was wrong with it. When the tech came out, he said I just needed to press a button. But I told him that I had never seen the red button. He then said that it may have been air in the line and he drained the oil. Then, he pressed the red button and the furnace came on. He was here for less than 10 minutes, then he left. He was professional but what he did wasn't worth $100. That should have been a courtesy and if he really had to do something, then they should charge me. Still, I paid the $100 deductible. But now, AHS sent me another bill for $100 and I'm not giving up another $100.

All our outlets went out in our bathrooms and we couldn't find a reset button or couldn't get the breaker to reset. The guys came in, walked into the bathroom and within moments, we had a plug-in in the bottom floor bathroom. They removed the plug-in and pushed the reset button. The guys with the electrical thing were super nice. They didn't laugh at me as much as I laughed at myself and they made sure that there wasn't anything else. They wanted me to know where everything was.
We just bought the house in August and the first claim we had with American Home Shield was three days after we moved in and the ceiling started leaking. It was hot and apparently, the people that were here before didn't clean the gutters prior to moving out and they hadn't been done in a while. Also, a hornet's nest had built up into the drain pipe. So, the condensation tray filled up with water. We were able to get all that sopped up and then, the contractor came and fixed it. I still have to get the ceiling fixed but they said that was a separate issue.

Most of the time, I submit claims online to American Home Shield. I'm able to get on my computer or my phone, go in and input what I need and when I need it. I always get an email back within that same day of the process and who they have to come and see me. Plus, a number where I can contact if they haven't contacted me. I had a claim for my heating unit and the tech was very knowledgeable on what he was doing. He found the issue and corrected it, and I haven't had any issues since then. The guy cleaned up and made sure he went back around to make sure he had everything connected. He waited to see if the issue was solved and he also checked a couple of other things to make sure that they were running properly while he was here. AHS is very professional and whenever I need something, they come through.

My claim with American Home Shield went really well. I'm 79 and I make my appointments over the phone. Sometimes you'd call and the phone wait was long. Fortunately, this time I got through. I was having an emergency in a plumbing issue and they answered fairly quickly. I requested a particular provider and they were able to do that, which I appreciated very much. The technician was very good. He was a young man. He knew what he was doing, and he got the job done pretty quickly. We were very pleased. I'm a Realtor and I've sold them for years to customers and I've had it a long time. Some people tell you not to do it, but if you have one bad thing, it makes up for it.

So far, I've only called American Home Shield once to discuss a second claim that I've put in and it was very difficult to hear the person not just because of their accent but it sounded like they may have been working from home and they had kids running all over screaming. It was very noisy and it was very difficult to communicate with the person. We couldn't seem to explain to them. They were saying the parts weren't covered but they didn’t understand what part we needed because it wasn't normal wear and tear. So, we weren't able to convey the problem to this person. Then, they put us on hold because we wanted the manager and they never came back, so we gave up on that.

It took a while before the one party was able to come out and then they had to order parts, and I'm still waiting for that. But for the most part, everything's been fine. It's just sort of a little slow when getting someone out to my home. But when I had Westside Plumbing come in, they did a fine job. It took the tech about less than five minutes to find the problem. It was something I could have found myself if I would have delved into it better. It was just something right in the drain, right where that little screw-in things. He said all I would have had done is unscrew that, and it was right there. There was a little bit of stuff there, and that was the only thing that was holding it up.

I've used American Home Shield for years and I've been completely satisfied. I had it on a different house. The first year I was in it, that was a really big year. The furnace had to be replaced and I also had a claim for the hot water heater. It all worked out. Recently, the microwave was blowing the circuit when you start it. I went on the American Home Shield website Wednesday and was able to schedule my own appointment for Friday morning.
The guy came to the back door right into the kitchen which was perfect. He was here no longer than half an hour and answered any questions we had. I suggested to him that if he was comfortable taking his mask off, we didn't mind if he did. He said, "No, I better keep it on. I don't want to get in trouble." I told him I had done some research and I thought it was the door switches, one or two. He said that was what it was. It was quick and easy and he didn't make a mess. In fact, he showed us a filter up in the top that we didn't know about, that we have to take out some screws and get to it, which needed to be changed. We were completely satisfied.
Interestingly, I had put in a service request a couple of weeks before that. I didn't hear from the provider that American Home Shield had assigned it to until maybe a week later. At that time, it wasn't blowing the circuit if we turned it off first before opening the door. I thought of budget and my co-pay is 125. I thought to put it off but it started doing it every time. I canceled that request and that was right when the service provider called. I let him know that I was going to hold off. The second time, American Home Shield assigned it to Sears automatically online. That was easy because there was a calendar and I could select the date.

American Home Shield is a good thing to have 'cause you have appliances and stuff in your home that can go bad. So rather than buying a new one, just have them come fix it. If they can't fix it, they'll replace it. Everything seemed to go smoothly. The gentleman came after I put the claim for the refrigerator on the American Home Shield website. There was not much time between asking for him and him coming. He saw what was wrong, ordered a door for the refrigerator, and said they would be here at the end of November. The door showed up in October. I contacted the company and told them that it was here and to send the guy out to put it on. Then they sent him out and he put it on. Everything works fine. The gentleman was very professional and didn't leave any mess after. He was great.

When I asked somebody to come out and look at my air conditioning, I was ready to cancel AHS then ‘cause that was a horrible experience. It was a company out of Montgomery. What the guy was telling me didn't make a lot of sense. The guy that came out and worked on my air conditioning told me that I needed one or two new parts up in the attic. I knew I didn't. But then, he turned around and told me that I did and that the company wouldn't pay for the refrigerant. Because the company only pays for the first gallon. Then, in order for him to repair it, it was going to cost me over $2,000 to get it repaired and that was an out-of-pocket expense.
I went ahead and told them that I didn't want them to repair it. I had had them before, the same company out of Montgomery and they did the same thing. The house was brand-new then and they told me I needed an upgrade. How do you need an upgrade on a brand-new house? It didn't make sense. So, I sent them back.
I talked with the guy at AHS and told the guy I was not pleased. I told him I wanted somebody else to come out and work on my unit. He told me, “Okay,” that they would get somebody. After a week went by, I didn't get anybody. So I called and got a technician myself to come out and explained to him. He and I corrected the problem. It didn't need a compressor, or condenser, or anything put in. But it cost me $200.
I called back AHS to get somebody to reimburse me, at least part of my 200 and some dollars back. The guy told me that they weren't gonna reimburse anything. It was just rude. I was in the process of getting ready to change. I've had American Home Shield for a long time, and I’ve even gotten some of my friends to get American Home Shield because I was satisfied. But that was just a bad experience. Then, I told the guy to let me speak with the supervisor. He just told me, “There ain’t no supervisors in. I’ll get one to call you sometime later on.”
Recently, we were having problems with our commode. The people who came and repaired them prior to that weren’t the most well-used crayon in the box. But the ones who came the last time corrected the water dripping faucet that I had. The guy was really knowledgeable and told us exactly what we needed. I was looking at getting two new commodes and having them put in. But when that guy finished, he repaired both of them. He did a fantastic job.

My bathroom had been ghost flushing. Last year, I paid a $75 service fee and Roto-Rooter first came out to check my toilet. It was the wrong toilet that they were getting ready to destroy my bathroom with. The guy actually put a hole down under my sink but I've stopped it 'cause they wanted to tear my shelf. After listening for six more months, I realized it was the bathroom upstairs. I took the top off and when I would hear it, I ran to the bowl and that was the problem. Then besides that service fee for them coming out, they were charging about $400, $500. Roto-Rooter is trap. I had them for some plumbing at my business to rod a drain and they sent somebody from Father & Son's. Long story short, the guy was 275, and I was like, "Whoa." Then he said 175. Then when I called them back, it was 225. I don't trust them.
I never told American Home Shield that Roto-Rooter didn't do anything. I was just frustrated. Then when I figured it out, I called AHS back and paid another service fee. It’s the second time I called in the microwave, and the guy told me, “It’s not your electrical work, it’s the microwave’s gone bad.” I had to pay twice on that and now I need to call them because they said there's an opt-out when I called. The lady said, “Well, it’s non-repairable, and you need to call.” No one called me to tell me that I had to call it in.
I always have to do my own follow-up. You file a claim and the only thing they send you is a survey after a week. You never know what the outcome is until you call yourself and they say your claim is complete. I’m like, “So, what's the findings? What do I need to do?” The lady said they're replacing it and I’m like, “Well, nobody called me. You said it’s closed." It wasn’t stated it’s closed in the email, but their computer does. I was gonna go out when they called me and she’s, “Okay, ma’am. We’re just gonna call you.” That’s not an answer you tell customers, but nonetheless, I will call them when I get back home, so I can get my microwave replaced.

We had to contact American Home Shield the other day regarding our septic tank problem. It was not working and we got false information from people. They said it was covered and they sent somebody out. They came to do the repair and went to get it authorized. We were told it was not covered and it took a whole day of calling and being on the phone for hours to try and figure out why they weren't covering it. I had to get on the phone for a couple hours fighting with people and getting the Philippines people who barely speak English, just to try to get my $75 refunded for something that they shouldn't have ever told me was covered, and shouldn't have ever dispatched anybody. So that was a horrible experience. At this point, after the septic thing, we're seriously thinking of not using American Home Shield again and not paying for a second year. There is the one improvement that I wish they would make though. In the event of a replacement of an appliance like for like, you pay to raise up the option.
If I want to upgrade appliances, it's like, "Well, I've got this warranty. So if I don't touch them, they're protected." The way it works to have the customer discretion and what the replacement is is a one piece where I've been, "I don't know." We had a faucet that they replaced, and it was good. When I got home from being out the other night, my heat pump was making a funny noise. So I went out to check it and the fan wasn't running. It was heating fine, but it just didn't sound right, and it smelled hot to me. So I was worried that something was wrong with it and if I kept running it, it would do more harm than good so I just cut it off and put in a service call to have it checked. I would rather pay $100 and get somebody to come to look at it than burn my condenser up. That was on a Saturday. GSSN came on Monday, so it was a really good timely service.
The gentleman was very nice. He ran the cycle. He said that it would run through that cycle where the fan would cut off and he couldn't find anything. He said it could have just been that it was in a cycle where the fan doesn't run. So he stayed a long time, ran it through a whole cycle, checked everything. He checked the whole outside unit and tested the inside. He ran it through another cycle and checked it to make sure there was nothing wrong. I'm not sure what made that noise but he said everything was okay.

The service is fine with American Home Shield when I report something's broken. They respond in a timely manner when they send somebody out. But there are some contractors that don't do a good job when they do the repair. A contractor recently tried to repair my refrigerator ice maker and they didn't do anything good. They were not properly communicating with me and they replaced some parts that did not fix the refrigerator.
They could have told me what's supposed to be replaced and when they installed the new parts that they ordered, they could have waited or tried the actual appliance if it's really working. But they just installed the parts and then left. I followed up with them and they're saying they can't do anything about it. They just turned it over back to AHS. Then, AHS sent another contractor. Until now, I'm waiting for the new contractor to finish the repair. It's been months since I reported the claim and I'm still waiting for the icemaker to be fixed. It's an inconvenience. They got right back with me, said who would fix it and they would call me back in a bit, so I have all these emails they sent me to keep me apprised of what was going on. It was really good. The tech came out, looked at it and said, “Well, it looks like it was heating over 220 on low heat.” So, the heating element was going out. I knew things were hot and it would only last 15 minutes at a time, and I told him that. He went and got the heating element, came back quickly, put it in and it started drying at a normal temperature. He kept checking it with his little thermometer thing and then he left.
A few days later, my husband said, “Have you washed anything?” I said, “No, I’m trying to wait until before Thanksgiving. Get the worst done.” And he said, “Don't you think you ought to try that?” I went out to load the laundry, put it in, put it on low heat. It cut off in 15 minutes. I called the tech back and I said the heating was fine but the timer was off. So, they ordered a new part for it and they will bring it out today to put it in. I've had a good experience. They had to order the part. They didn't have it in stock. So, they are going to replace the whole top of the board. I'm still drying in it. I just have to go back and turn it on every 15 minutes. But they're coming out between 1:00 and 5:00 today so I'm excited.
This is our first claim. We got Home Shield in January this year and so we haven't used it up until now, but I know I have a leaky toilet. The bottom needs a ring so I'm fixing to call in and have Home Shield fix it for me. And then we'll get it again next year. I keep thinking something else will go wrong. It's like a car insurance. You don't need it all the time but when you need it, it comes in handy. Like an air conditioner going out or heating system. You never know with these things. It's a great thing to get. I wish I had it before. I would recommend it to any of my friends.

We had a lot of things that happened when we first purchased this home. We ended up paying out of pocket mostly with the plumbing that should have been covered by the American Home Shield. We had leaks in the floor kind of plumbing when we were paying out of pocket, which there was a limit like $1,000 that AHS would have paid. We had to shut off our water for a while. It was urgent and couldn't seem to get anybody competent to come. The people that were sent to us were supposedly coming and then they didn't come. Then they would come, and they wouldn't know what they were doing. One pulled up with a couple of younger guys in an unmarked Chevy truck, with a bunch of stuff thrown in the bed of the truck. It was an uncomfortable situation and didn't appear to know at all what they were doing.
In an emergency situation, we just went ahead to get the job done. We had to pick our own then pay for it. I called AHS and asked if they could reimburse us the amount that they would have paid for this. They were very easy to understand. But I got people that were foreign and could hardly understand them. They would just not understand what I was saying. I never got paid back so I was frustrated by that. AHS should make sure that whoever they have on the list that they contract with is reputable, upstanding, and knowledgeable. Then five days before the warranty was up, we had a horrible stoppage problem. The people from Hers and His came and they were great. This last hurrah worked. But I was overall very disappointed with AHS.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

There was a leak from the upstairs. We had water spots in the downstairs bedroom. The techs came out and they cut some holes in the ceiling, found the drain from the upstairs shower, but couldn't find any leaks. Upon further review in the master bath, it looked like there were some holes in the tile that had let water from the shower get down into. They did a good job there. I'm just waiting on the holes in the ceiling to be patched up.
Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is simple. You go to their website, and it pulls up your account. You set up an account with them. Then on the account, they have a pick list of problems that you choose from, and then just elaborating on it from there. They could improve on their follow-up though. I did ask for follow-up on who was going to repair the holes in the ceiling, and I haven't heard from anybody on that yet.

I was having trouble with my machine. It was making loud noises. When it was on its final spin, the machine starts rocking and moving out of place. The techs came out and looked at it. They had to order for a shaft. They told me that the people who send the parts out would take a little longer than usual because of the pandemic. So it was okay. The tech came back out a week later and fixed it. It got fixed in a timely manner. I love American Home Shield. They do a great job so far. My experience with American Home Shield was fine once they understood it was an emergency. The heater failed when it was freezing outside on a Friday, and they said they couldn't send someone until Monday. It was very annoying to have to talk to someone in the Philippines to get it escalated. But once they did, they sent someone over in a few hours. I would suggest that when you call up, you can indicate if it's something that can wait or if it's something that needs fixing right away. The repair people were excellent. They had to get a part. The service was 5-star when they came out. But until we had to get them, there was no human being to explain to that it needed to get fixed quickly.

A lot of times when you call for service from AHS, it takes more than the 24 hours they say for somebody to contact you back. When I had a dishwasher claim, it took two days before East Electronics got back to me. But it worked out. The tech was friendly and he did what he had to do. The part that he had didn't solve the problem so they had to get a different part, which was where the hang up was.
Also, he couldn't get the dishwasher out because the people who originally installed it, didn't install it right. They didn't put brackets on it and they put some granite grabbers on it, which they couldn't get out. The people who sold me the dishwasher had to call another person to come over and get it out. Then, the East Electronics tech had to come back and put the part in. It was a long drawn out thing. But AHS usually does a good job. I've had them for quite a while, then I quit them because I was having some problems with getting things done right. This was my first experience since I got them back and things worked out good.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The beginning started out really rocky. On the American Home Shield side, it took three to four heated conversations for me to get to the point where I could have something that was scheduled that was effective. My first couple appointments were scheduled but no one showed up and no one called. It was a mess. Eventually, it worked out. Universal 1 Repair came out and it was good. They were professional and friendly. They answered my questions and helped me solve something else that was going on. The guy had the knowledge. He offered it and it worked. I was happy with both of the service gentlemen who showed up. I had to follow up but it was a lucky coincidence that the day I called, the part was there. With American Home Shield, make sure you follow up and make sure it's done. Don't hang up the phone and assume it's gonna be done. Things still fall through cracks even when they're happy and smiling and tell you everything's good.

A Advanced came out for a heating claim and I paid $994 for a compressor and Freon. Then, American Home Shield sent out another company for a second opinion and I didn't want the second company. United stood in my house and told me that I'm in a worse position before the problem even started because the emergency heat thing just kicks on but there's no heat. It's ice-cold air like the AC is on. They took the Freon out and they said that AHS approved it because they sent them for a second opinion.
Also, AHS keeps saying they don't have the paperwork from A Advanced and they don't have this and that from United but both companies were telling me AHS has it. They keep sending it to them. At first, I was upset with United but they were telling the truth. They emailed me all the notes that were sent over to AHS. In the notes, it said what they had to do. The note stated that they had to disable everything and go in to see exactly what was wrong. But now they did that, AHS said the company needs to replace the Freon. But I would have to pay 1,400 for United to put another one back in.
Then, I had to go back with A Advanced because they told me AHS called them. A Advanced said that United's diagnosis is not what it is. The problem is the outside condenser needs to be replaced and AHS is not covering certain things they told me they would cover. I bought the 994 with the modification fee just for the compressor and since I already paid for it, A Advanced said they will put the fee towards a new unit. The manager approved it. I'm paying $2,700 for a whole new outside unit. I had to go into my retirement yesterday to take out the $2,700. But A Advanced was so nice. They asked me if I can give them a postdated check with the date on it. I told them the money would be in the account on Thursday. They're on the way now with the machine and the system took about four hours to do and they're going to take the check from me and not take it out till Thursday.
I was going to call AHS today. I have made so many complaints with them. I want a claim form or something so I can submit the receipt of the 2,700 to see if they will reimburse me for something. I feel like they're gonna deny me, though, because they keep talking about this paperwork that they said they haven't received. It's so overwhelming and I got so upset. I have no heat and I have two grandbabies living with me - a one-year-old and 10-month-old - and the 10-month-old just got discharged from Children's Hospital with a major stomach surgery.
I've been dealing with this since October 28. AHS promised me they would call me back but I have not heard from them. And we stayed on the phone so long. The representative was very nice. She stayed long on the phone and she did try. But she was honest and she told me she doesn't even know what to tell me what to do. This is my third home and I've had home warranty plans before but I haven't experienced this. I've never used AHS before and I never will again. I'm not happy at all.

I submit claims with AHS online and the process is easy. When I call in, it is like I'm dealing with somebody from another planet so I do it online. But he asked me to call AHS for something I need to let them know about and when I called in, it took nine minutes for me to give that information. It's a lot easier online.
Another claim I had was when the pool heater wasn't working. It needed to have some new igniters and some parts need to be replaced. I had to have a gas company out, a plumber for the gas line, and then my pool equipment people. I had four different service providers and it took nine different service calls to do it right because everybody was blaming the other one. It was fixed by Watertight Pool and Spa. The tech was very professional. I would call him back after-hours and he would answer the phone almost every time and if he didn't, he would call me back. The pool heater is now performing as expected.

He also put in a quick start kit which I had no idea I needed such a thing. I was impressed with the guy, the level of service, and the ease of requesting the service. Our pool pump was so loud that my neighbors asked what was going on with it because they were watching TV with friends. We had to turn off it because it was making so much noise. We turned it back on after the next day and it wouldn't even come back on. Advantage Pool and Spa Repair was our designated service company and their tech James asked me what the problem was. I texted him about it. He said it sounded like some bearings went out and there were some nails tapping. My pump was gone. James said to take a picture of the actual pool pump. It was on the left hand side and I was to send the picture to him. He would see about bringing a pool pump with him when he comes and that was what he did. Our pool pump is working right now. My experience with Advantage Pool and Spa Repair was awesome.
I've been with American Home Shield for 15-16 years now and I always recommend them all the time. All my friends and family have the home warranty. I've been pretty happy with them over the years. But I have another open claim right now for my ice maker and the service people are not willing to work. I've said that to American Home Shield three different times and asked for somebody else to come and help me get my ice maker fixed. It's been over two months now and nothing has happened. They kept saying they would escalate the problem. But that was what they told me the last time. They said they were reaching out to the Coastline company but they were not responding back to American Home Shield.
The first time a tech came out, my son was at the house waiting for him. He did not ring the doorbell and all he did was knock on the door lightly then he turned around and left. He was pulling out of the driveway before my son got to the front door. When he came back, I left the front door wide open so he would know I was home. He just walked in and didn't want to work. The last time when he left, he said he put on all three parts that he ordered but the ice maker was still not working. He said I needed to need to figure out what to do with American Home Shield. I'm not real happy with my ice maker claim. I normally ask for Sears to come out because the guy from there knows what he's doing at all times. But this Costline company is horrible.

The dishwasher guy showed up and said there was no water coming to the dishwasher. A valve wore out. It's a 15-year-old dishwasher so I'm not surprised. He tested it but I haven't ran a load yet to see if it works. I had a little problem with Austin Heating and Air on the air conditioner. That was replaced in July and they charged me $2,500 to install that air conditioner. I didn't expect that much out of pocket expense. One thing they would charge me for is the smoke alarm in every bedroom so I installed them. They would charge me $250 if they had to do it. They had to come to do a final inspection and they would have given me a refund. They never showed up.
In November, I called them and said, “That was July. Now it's November. You guys never came back by. When are you going to come back to inspect for those?” They came by but I still haven't heard a word about my refund. They had a little paper for the permit people to come look at and it's been up there for a good two weeks but no one's come by. I don't know if they just don't follow through very well all the time but I'm still expecting a refund. Austin Heating and Air usually fixes the air conditioner-heater right away then I'm fine. This is the first time I had an installation of a piece of equipment and an air conditioning that they had forgotten about. Also, when they installed the heater, there was a big gap where there shouldn't have been a gap so I had another air conditioning company fix it.

When I called American Home Shield’s number to report a problem, I got a recorded voice and the options that I was offered did not meet my requirements. So, I ended up calling the plumber after they were assigned and adding on to that work order. But the paperwork part of it seemed to have gotten messed up. There was a mix-up or a misunderstanding or someone didn't follow through, and they only got the work order for the clogged drain and one tub.
The gentleman who came out explained that they could not do any work that wasn't listed on the work order, which I totally understand. He told me what I needed to do to request another visit without having to come up with another $100 service fee. I had a little bit of trouble understanding the gentleman I spoke with at the home warranty place. We had a hot water heater replaced through American Home Shield. The other one was leaking everywhere. The service was fine. One day, my husband was sitting over in the garage, and he noticed water running down the front of the hot water heater. The young man used the wrong kind of fittings, and we have a well, which isn't the young man's fault that did the work. The minerals in the well ate up the fittings. So, my husband had to replace a couple of them. Then we had one of our AC units worked on. That went really well. The young man that came out was very knowledgeable and did a great job. But I also asked him if he could get us an estimate for something else, and I never heard back from him or the company he worked for.
My washing machine decided to start walking around the laundry room when it was going through spin cycle. With the first guy that came out, I was very unhappy by the time he left. I was trying to be nice without throwing him out because he didn't do anything and I learned too much about him and his family. I had Trump flags out there. He made it known immediately that he didn’t support Trump or Biden. He hated both of them. It was like, "I don't care. Fix my washing machine." He didn't do anything and he didn't help.
When I called back, a different guy came out, and he did an excellent job. He actually pulled out the washing machine and replaced a part and did what needed to be done. AHS doesn't have any services locally though. They have to come from New Braunfels or San Marcos, which is like 34 to 40 miles away. But as long as someone comes and helps me, that's all I care about. I keep wondering why, though, every time I look at my credit card, the cost goes up monthly. I thought that was kind of strange.

It's been warm and cold here in Arkansas. So, some days we shut the heat off and open the windows, then the whole system cools down. When we turned it back on when it got chilly, we got this rattling noise. We were getting heat but you could hear the noise all over. Over time, it would go away. It seems once the system got warmed up again, it would quiet down and then go to nothing. You wouldn't hear it any longer. It turned out, it was nothing more than one of the exhaust pipes upstairs. It just came loose and slightly moved. The vibration of the machine just would start it rattling. It was rattling up against another thing and making all the noise.
The guy showed up, and he went up there. We had turned it off. We turned it on. Apparently, it still was warm enough, and it didn't make the noise. He said, "Okay, here's what to do. If you can video it with the audio or just audio." He knew what it is. He had a suspicion that it might be something. What happened was he said, "If you hear it again, record it. Call in. 'Cause in 30 days, you get a recall." He went in his truck, started driving away and the machine started with the noise again. I said, "Woah, stop." My wife caught him before he left. He came back in, and it was rattling away. He went up there and he found it. So far, so good. There is no noise.
He was really good. He came over and he checked everything while he was here. He said, "You're in good shape." I was very pleased with it. They responded right away. They had a tracking thing. When he was on the way 20 minutes out, I looked at that and I could track him coming down the highway. It was a map and I could see where he was. He showed up right on time. American Home Shield has been good so far. We've used it a few times on the air conditioner. I'll renew it one more time because the air conditioner in the house is working fine. It rattles. Even after they fixed it, they filled it up with water to make sure the suction was good. Overall, I was pleased with their visit.

There was a great deal of leaking happening underneath the sink and a questionable smell coming from the garbage disposal. The technician was here for 15 minutes. He felt that he couldn’t do anything without American Home Shield’s approval, which I totally get, so he took pictures and sent them in. The guy said it was gonna take a week or two to hear back before he could do anything. Then on Thanksgiving morning, there was a flood of water coming from underneath the sink. So, I had to rip everything out and do all the U-bend and piping stuff myself, which was mildly annoying. It wasn't that complicated to fix that sort of stuff, but what made it more questionable about moving forward was because the previous owners of this house had installed a shelf that went across the mid part underneath the sink. That meant that there were certain holes that they had cut into this board so the drainage pipe could go through.
It was a huge mess and now, things have gotten worse because of the large amount of water that came out of four large cracks in the fittings. A lot of water got between two boards that were underneath the sink. So, there's a lot of water damage under there. I understand that American Home Shield wants to ensure that there aren't faults and requests but in this kind of situation, it would have been nice if the plumber had a little bit more autonomy to be able to fix the situation without having to constantly check in with them.

Just in case something went out like a water heater, or something with the plumbing, faucets, or furnace, I could just easily call someone. SeaBreez came out three times because there were constantly problems, but eventually some problem has been resolved. Home Shield put my heater back together and I had my heating installed. That was all I really wanted. I wanted to pay for my contract for the full year but I've had trouble doing that. But I was told to call back in January.

My electric bill was really, really high, and I couldn't figure it out. Then I realized that the heat pump had been running 24/7. There was a defective switch. The techs found the switch and replaced it. It just cost the original $100 charge for the guy to come out and do all that. So the insurance covered whatever the balance was. When the guy was here, he answered the questions and he seemed very competent.

The Whirlpool washer was not moving to the different cycles of the wash. The nice guy who came out knew what he was doing 'cause when I saw him, just put it on rinse and spin. I told him that it was the only place where it would work. And he was telling me that that was how they reset the machine. He repaired it. But two days ago, I noticed an issue. The washer is not going full circle. It senses, but it doesn't go past the sensor. It’s one of those machines where it senses, then it washes, and then goes into all the other cycles. So it uses all the soap and the fabric softener but it doesn't go past the sensing. I'm wasting a lot of soap and water and energy as well. So, I'm still having the same issue. I was gonna call them back ‘cause he told me it was guaranteed for 30 days.
It's easier to call in and talk to a person from American Home Shield. It was very good dealing with their techs. But in purchasing something, I had to talk to his boss who actually translated it to him in Spanish. But he was very accommodating. Overall, American Home Shield is a waste of my money but I just can't get myself to cut them off. I talked to other people who told me that they got a brand new washing machine from them and I'd ask them if they were sure if it was American Home Shield. I've had them for years so I don't understand what's going on when it comes to claims ‘cause most of the time, my claim is not covered. We've had to buy a new fridge, cooker and microwave on our own.

The plumber wasn't able to fix the sewage backed up and now I have to pay out of pocket because American Home Shield doesn’t cover the camera. I did a claim for the same exact issue 2 weeks ago and it was horrible. The service at American Home Shield is horrible. To get a technician is virtually impossible. They say that they're going to call. They tell you to call back in an hour. You call back and they still have no idea. They have no one. I called the company that they said they have a contract with. I got a call back in 20 minutes and was able to schedule my own attempts at resolution.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

My washing machine wouldn't work. I was afraid to file a claim because I thought I was gonna be charged an arm and a leg but it worked out fantastic. The tech from David's Appliance Service who came out was very good. His mask was down when he was working on the machine and then when I came to the door, he put the mask back up. The machine's working great now.

I went for two days with no heat in that 20-degree weather at night. The first guy that came out told me it was the breaker. When he checked, he said I needed an electrician so I had to call American Home Shield back and tell them what he said. They had to wait till he filled out his report. Then they sent out an electrician and it was not a bad breaker. It just needed tightening up. When he finished that, he said, "You're gonna have to call the heat and air guy back out there." It was a rigmarole. I thought most heat and air people will have electricians on staff that could do both of them. That was two different people who came out three different times to get that completed. But they were very nice and very knowledgeable. It was pretty rough for a couple of days with no heat, especially I'm older and sleeping during the night with 27 degrees outside wasn't very easy. But it finally got resolved.
When we lived in Texas, we had American Home Shield for several years. We got it again when we moved back up here in January 2013. The people at American Home Shield are very pleasant. However, it seems like I get the very same person and sometimes she's a little bit hard to understand because she has an accent. But they try to work real hard to get your issues resolved. Even today, I have a call. My washing machine is out and the people that they assigned me to could not come out here till next Monday. I've been out of a washing machine since last Friday. I called American Home Shield back this morning and told them I really need it fixed before then. The rep got me somebody else who's coming out tomorrow so that's good. Thankfully, I have American Home Shield when I've got situations like I've had recently. I don't know what I would do without them right now. I keep telling my children they all need it.

I had a problem with my freeze and the claim for that was very good. But then, the second issue I had was a leak. American Home Shield sent out a contractor too and he said he was going to get back to me to let me know if it was approved and never did. I have been waiting for 10 days. They haven't even followed up to let me know what's happening with that claim.

We had a leak on our water heater and Reliable Plumbing came in and fixed it. The work took a while because they told us that we needed to reduce our water pressure. We had to have a pressure regulator put in first at our expense. We then had to call American Home Shield back so that they could reissue another order. Reliable Plumbing then came back and they finished the job. They were very professional. Everything's good now. American Home Shield is doing really good so far.

Quality Air HVAC Trust came out to service my heat that stopped working. The techs were awesome. They took their shoes off when they came in the house and put it back on when they got downstairs in the basement, every time. I had an issue with when they said they ordered the parts and they weren't sure how long it was going to be. I reached out to American Home Shield and the guy told me that he was going to give me a call back. He called me back the next day and they had an appointment for me ready. Somebody was coming out to fix it that same day. Everything works good now.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

We lost the ability to heat the house. Our heater wasn't working through the heat pump. Handy Bee Repair came out following a claim we made. The first visit was on Thanksgiving Day and my wife was the one that talked to him. He told her about the thermostat. He said he thought it was a wire out at the heat pump then something to do with the thermostat that couldn't automatically transfer over to the propane, which it has been doing for years. We were having to run it on emergency heat, which was forcing it to run propane.
I asked him if he was going to close out the job and he said yes. But the job was not completed. Needless to say, my wife wasn't happy so she gave him a bad rating. The guy came back and found out that it was the heat pump that was bad. It had discharged its coolant. He diagnosed it and turned it in for replacement. That was on Friday or Saturday. On Monday, he called and said he had already picked up the unit that American Home Shield approved. He was out there that Thursday. It took a week from the first time we saw him to the time the issue was resolved. That's pretty fast in the HVAC world so we're more than impressed and happy with the overall procedure. The tech did a good job and everything turned out fine. He was there on time and was professional. He solved all of our problems.
We've been with American Home Shield for a decade and the few times we've had to use them has been tremendous. American Home Shield has been efficient and we will be keeping it. It's cost-effective as well, especially when you look at what it would have cost us to replace the unit. We would have to pay for it for almost 10 years but we get our money back with one major incident. We own another house in South Dakota that we're going to be moving into. We'll probably put the warranty on that too.

For the longest time we were paying the vendor and it was a little strange once they shifted to pre-paying for the co-pay, but paying through the portal is easier. I don't have to worry about that, especially if I'm not the one that's home and somebody else is there to take care of it. When I had a leaky faucet, AHS had a plumber come out and fix it. He was very professional and he was very nice about it. He came in, did his thing and then left. It was quick and simple. I also had a question about what sounded like a drip and the plumber let me know what was going on with that and what that was. It was the reverse osmosis filling the tank. I've had AHS for a long time and I use them a lot. It's a godsend. I always recommend it too. I always ask people why they don't have a home warranty. It doesn't make any sense to me.

The repairman wasn’t here very long but he was very nice and I was satisfied. I called and he was here in a couple of days. The problem wound up just being a fuse. I've only been in my house two and a half years and I signed up shortly after I moved in, and I renewed the program. I haven't had that many problems since I've moved into the house. This was the second time that I had to call American Home Shield and it's in the second year of my membership. My first claim was in the first 12 months of my membership, and it was not the same. It was a little difficult.
