    I've contacted American Home Shield twice, and both times, it's been a good experience. Once was when I had a problem with the toilet leaking. The plumber was great. He was very friendly and the issue was resolved on the same day.

    Two months ago, I requested repair of several appliances. I had delayed repairs due to the pandemic, but when my clothes dryer crashed, I could not wait any longer. I was assigned an appliance repair company who sent a representative to my home and wrote up each item but failed to research part availability, even after I called them several times. Upon research I discovered American Home Shield had contracted with a company with very poor reviews which echoed the experiences I was having.

    I was finally able to persuade AHS to authorize an out of contract appliance repair shop. Their technician came, diagnosed and completed a parts search in under 24 hours. He discovered there were no available parts due to the age for two appliances and so reported to AHS. He did receive permission to fix one and did so promptly. But I had to pay him directly and seek reimbursement from AHS. He advised me to do a follow-up call to discover the next step for the other two appliances.

    I have called many times over the past three weeks trying to find where I am in the system. I have spoken to regular agents, to escalation representatives and to people who work outside the country and do not even have employee identification numbers. I have been told the parts search department is trying to find parts, the escalation parts search department is trying to find parts, and that I will receive a call with information in 10 minutes (no call), 24 hours (no call) and 48 hours (yet, no call). I have received many apologies for the failure of anyone to contact me and for the length of time it is taking to get an answer – repair or replace? And I have been told that there is no time limit on their side.

    In the meantime, I am attempting to dry my clothes on hangers in the yard in the dead of winter, am sending sheets to the laundry at great expense, and am losing hope AHS will honor the contract we have with them. And there appears to be no recourse; no appeal course short of a very expensive lawsuit. I am also wondering if I will receive the more than $450 that I have spent to get one appliance fixed and the remainder diagnosed. I am fearful, based on the delaying tactics being used by representatives of AHS that I am either out the money or will have a difficult time receiving a refund. Only time will tell, as the saying goes. I will report on my success or failure in a couple of weeks. This is a shame that this company appears to be so disorganized and unable to provide timely service.. I purchased the contract in good faith. They do not seem to be able to honor it on their side. I cannot, therefore recommend this product.

    Called claim 11/11. Appt set, stayed home for appt. No show No call. Contacted company. Was told they no longer would work for AHS. Called AHS again. They rescheduled appt. Waited all day. No call, no show. Finally daughter found out they had given company wrong phone number. Guess so they could not contact me. Faucet still leaks. Took this so would have help when needed. Older widow and this is extremely stressful.

    This company is an absolute scam. I don’t know who is reviewing them online but apparently it has to be paid actors because they do not offer a service worth paying for. I recently bought a house and the previous home owners had bought home warranty from them. When our toilet got blocked up within the first month of moving in we called them and paid $75 for them to send a technician to see what the problem was only to catch the technician on camera wetting blue paper towel that he took out of his back and saying that he took it out of the toilet when he did not and the problem has not been fixed. They are now declining to send someone else to fix the issue or look at it when the first person they sent didn’t even look at it.

    GE said they were coming but then they didn't, and then somebody said they were coming but they also didn't. They then said they came but they never showed up. And then, another guy from some furniture store came but he didn’t even bring tools in. He wasn't even there 15 minutes and said it needed all these parts, and he didn't know if he could get them because of COVID.

    And then, we got the GE man. He came in and said, “There was nothing wrong with it. It just had a piece of trash in the Freon.” Just wonderful. It took forever to get the right repairman. But when we got GE to come, it was perfect. They all are good because that was a pain in the butt. My husband is diabetic, and we lost groceries and his insulin. I went out and bought a cooler, but it wasn’t keeping things cool. Home Shield did me a solid. I told everybody they need to get it. I would not buy another new home without it. I love them. We got our house re-keyed, and our air conditioner and my refrigerator fixed. It was a move from hell, and Home Shield made it a lot better. They have been my saving grace.

    Durant Plumbing is excellent. They have always come when they said they were going to come. They were very polite and efficient and they knew what they were doing. They also had masks on. We wouldn't have let them in without masks because my husband is high-risk. I had American Home Shield for well over 20 years in South Dakota. But when we moved to Michigan, the home warranty that the Realtor had was a different one. We were not at all happy with them. So, I contacted American Home Shield to see if I could get coverage back with them again because they had always been good. So since we moved here, we got American Home Shield. And I've had them ever since. The only thing I don't like is that it's hard to ever get to talk to someone from American Home Shield. It's an automated system. I'm old-school and I like to talk to someone.

    It took a long time for the oven to pre-heat and on my microwave, none of the buttons on the panel worked. The claims submission was fine and it did not take long for the tech to come out.     I've had AHS for over 20 years and I definitely always recommend them to other people. The home warranty is a great thing. I've had to use it a few times on some major things like my refrigerator and dishwasher. Recently, I was concerned about my water heater. It's 25 plus years old and it's making weird noises. The water isn't getting as hot as I think it should. So I called AHS to put that in. I love calling AHS 'cause they call people who come and take care of my issue. I'm in a rural area and it's really great for me. They contacted me that day, we set up a time, and the guy was here the very next day. He was great. He checked it out and explained everything. He said the water heater looked fine and was in better shape than some newer ones he's seen.

    I like that American Home Shield follows up and follows through most of the time. I'm a real estate agent, and we use them on a lot of the properties that we have. There are issues that we have going on and we have to get in the trenches when there are issues on who's telling the truth when the vendors come out and who's not telling the truth.

    Recently, I have a problem with my freezer. The Active Appliance representative found a problem with one of the thermostats, and he replaced the thermostat. He told me to turn the whole freezer unit off for 24 hours, which flooded the floor in the kitchen. The ice maker and water dispenser then started leaking, and it would not stop. I called in another service call. Customer service called me and said they were rerouting the call back to Active Appliance last Thursday. American Home Shield tried to send the same people back to tell me what the problem is of why this thing would not stop leaking. It wasn't leaking before, but I have no clue that it has any bearing. Maybe it's something totally different. This has been over a week. I'm still waiting for Active Appliance to come back out.

    I submitted a claim with AHS because the fridge was not cooling and that was on a Saturday. They sent first a technician on Monday but he couldn't fix it. He didn't have any equipment to repair it. We wrote it out to another contractor. The tech came on Wednesday. He was prepared with the parts and finally replaced a compressor of that fridge.

    In November, the contractor got the heat pump and the furnace running together. They got the furnace as the back up and the heat pump on first. Then, a couple of weeks ago, both stopped working. I put the request in to American Home Shield for the techs to come back out. So, they did. They tried to look for the problem and they found out that the heat pump computer board was probably fried and shorting out and blowing the fuse in the furnace. So, it is running on furnace right now. AHS could try to find a way to get emergency calls because our house was without heat for a weekend. It got cold in the house and there was no way of getting somebody out that day. Other than that, it’s all good.

    Someone through American Home Shield came out for the air conditioner. They had repaired it. Submitting the claim for that was kind of slow, but it was good. Somebody came out, they looked at it, they saw what was wrong, and then they put in the request. Then it just took a while to get approved. They actually sent out two people because the first contractor was a little pricey, I'm assuming, and then the second contractor that came out, put in his claim, and then they went with his claim. I'm happy with American Home Shield overall.

    I was having problems with my heat. The techs that American Home Shield sent out were very good. But it was extremely expensive. I had to pay for a new furnace and American Home Shield didn't cover that. I also had to put in a claim for plumbing and the service from May's Plumbing was terrible. It almost took at least two and a half months for me to finally get the work done. There was always something and it took that long for them to finally get out. So I wasn't happy with their service at all. But, they did okay at the very end. Most customers probably would not have put up with that. But because I had a leak, I wanted it done. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very good.

    American Hi-Tech Appliance came out for the washer and the refrigerator. The tech came and did a diagnostic, ordered parts, and then came back to do the repairs that he could do. He was very professional and fast. He wore a mask and kept his distance. The refrigerator wasn't able to be repaired, so we got that replaced but the dryer is working fine since the repair.

    My dishwasher wouldn't drain. it would flood the floor. I called American Home Shield and the lady was nice and got the work order in. The guy from Prodigy Appliance called the day prior and very nicely said that he would be there by a certain time. He was and he found the problem really fast and got it fixed. He cleaned up all the stuff. It's good to have a backup that you can just call up and get a work order going quickly if something goes wrong in your home, and you typically get a call the very next day.

    Our dryer was running excessively long. It listed a code on the panel that it was airflow blockage, supposedly. I thought I had cleaned this out about six months ago. The guy AHS sent examined the dryer, tested it and said that there was still a blockage in the exhaust. We have this very high roof type exhaust. He tried the dryer without the exhaust attached on it and it worked fine. He gave us a suggestion, what to do and someone to contact. But I had materials to clear it so I went in, did some clearing, and found out that the exhaust flap on the roof had gotten material into it and gotten all wet and formed a kind of a cake. That was the issue. I hadn't thought about that before and he suggested that we check these things. They don't do those types of issues though. I cleaned it out and it works fine. It was a good experience. We've had several other things including one with our refrigerator and one with garbage that they've come out for and they've been very helpful and very professional.

    My garbage disposal was leaking and it had a hole in it. I called the company and they set up an appointment for the next day. They came out on time, and they replaced it. They handled it perfect. I've got two homes that I have American Home Shield on, and they've done an excellent job. I'm happy. We've called them several times, and they've always handled it very well. If they didn't, I would change companies.

    We were having a problem with, primarily, the kitchen sink draining slowly and backing up. I contacted American Home Shield, and they contacted ASAP Plumbing. I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the reviews for ASAP Plumbing are pretty negative. So, I was somewhat apprehensive that that was who American Home Shield had assigned us. But to their credit, their communication was excellent. They were able to come out in a fairly timely manner. The plumber was professional and had the problem fixed in less than an hour. I was very pleased with the service.

    I imagine that American Home Shield has contracts with different contractors, which is understandable. Being able to have, though, some selections would be good. So if in the future, we would have a similar issue and they were to give us three options. I'm big on reading reviews for anything, and I try to write reviews when I can too, and including a positive review for ASAP Plumbing in this case. But it would be good to be able to kind of do our own research and have some option as far as who's going to be coming out to our home versus just being assigned somebody.

    I've had American Home Shield for 30 years. It used to be a lot easier just calling, getting somebody live and explaining to them. Now, on the phone you press this button and that button. Sometimes you can't explain to a computer what's going on ‘cause it doesn't compute. Also, what I don't like is that I have to pay upfront before they dispatch anybody. It should be after the job is done because I don't know if they do a good job.

    It happened one time where they dispatched somebody for my air conditioner in my attic. The guy must have weighed over 400 pounds. There was no way he was gonna be able to go up into the attic. He just went up the ladder, looked in and came down. It took him 30 seconds and said there was nothing wrong with it. I had to call, argue with American Home Shield and tell them, “You need to send somebody else because this guy didn't do anything.”

    We moved into this house probably 22 years ago. I have had an issue with my air conditioner unit. This is every year that I have to call them. Their techs come, tinker with it, and fix it for the summer. The next year, I have to call them again. It's over and over and they told me they were not gonna replace it. I would not recommend American Home Shield at all. They’re here when I need them but they fix the issue for the moment and don't follow-through.

    I had two of claims within one week. One was for a pool pump. The guy did good and now, my pool pump purrs like a kitten. On the other hand, American Home Shield didn't cover everything on the latest one and it's still waiting on parts for the repair for leaking faucets. Apart from that, the technician that came needs to get a raise. He's a young guy, very knowledgeable, and wanting to do the right thing.

    The front touchpad of the dryer wasn't working. As the dryer was spinning, it would beep continuously like something was wrong. The tech came. He also acknowledged that the touchpad wasn't working. I also showed him a video of how the dryer was beeping, so he could get an idea of what the problem was. He assessed it. He opened up the dryer top, he pulled it out and he opened it up.

    Then I went downstairs and he called me later. Then he said he figured out what it was. He looked, and the wire that was connecting to the touchpad, the clip was off. It's like a computer so it wasn't reading properly what you were touching. He pushed it down. It was an easy fix. After that, it’s been working perfectly and it's not beeping. The tech was very professional. He had a mask on the whole time and he was very prompt. He was out of here within 30 minutes. We're pleased with American Home Shield.

    Usually, I'm pretty happy with AHS and overall, they're way better than First American. Recently, they sent out All South Air to work on my AC. My unit wasn't cooling and there was a leak. They did something and put Freon in it. Submitting the claim was easy but the online would be better if their website had more options to describe better what's going on, especially if you're filing a claim on a pool. Besides that, the techs I've had here have been fine. But I called and canceled some of the ones that they were going to send and they've been very good to respect that if there's somebody that's worked in my home before that I don't want, they don't send them back out.

    The lady that I spoke to at American Home Shield was great. She got everything turned around really quickly. Then Mr. Appliance got in touch in the same day, came out and did what they needed to do and got it done. I looked online first and thought about submitting the claim that way, but I'd ended up calling in. I just felt it was easier to talk to somebody personally. The guy who was here was great. He wore a mask when he came in and out and while he was in there. He brought in everything he needed. He kinda told me a few things on how to troubleshoot some problems with it moving forward.     I like LA General Contractors. The technician was really nice, polite and he wore a mask. When he came out, we had heat, but then it went out and he did something. It’s working. As far as American Home Shield, sometimes, I don't like when they have foreigners customer service reps. I can’t understand them. I would just call back another time because I can’t understand them.

    We got the home warranty hoping we would never have to use it, but it's been great for us. Claims submission has been smooth and when I say painless, that's putting it lightly. I haven't had any problems at all. Not long after we got American Home Shield, we ended up getting our money completely out of it for the whole year when the compressor went out on our refrigerator. They came out and fixed it quick, and we're very satisfied with that. The contractor and American Home Shield did a great job. It was very easy. We just had our dryer go out a couple of weeks ago, and again, very quick. Both companies were also very good about their approach. Before they came in, they called and told us what they would do about their precautions due to COVID (wearing a mask and mirroring what most companies are doing today). Both of them were very similar on how they did it.

    I had a heat pump issue and the guys that were here had to order parts for that. They were really good. They've been here before and they were really good in diagnosing the problem and getting it fixed. They were very professional and very clean. It was kind of muddy out here. We had had some rain and they didn't really want to walk in the house and they said, "I might get your floor muddy." I said, "That's fine." Having American Home Shield is definitely worth it. Last year, we had a compressor go out on our central air unit, and then this year, we had to deal with the heat pump. When we bought this house three years ago, it came with Home Shield, and then we've re-upped every year since we've had this.

    Having AHS has been very good. I have a hot tub that I need to be repaired. We're going on eight weeks and they can't find somebody that can repair it. It's freezing temperatures here and I'm concerned because I've got the hot tub full of water and it’s not working. I just wish that they could find somebody. This is a large enough town that, definitely, there's got to be repairmen around. I also had a freezer that went out and they said they don't cover freezers. That was disappointing. But all in all, any claim I've had, they've done very well. Recently, Jeffrey’s Appliance did my dishwasher. They diagnosed what the issue was. The gentleman was extremely nice, very clean, very good and explained things very well. He ordered the parts and they came in. He came back and he put it back together and it's working awesome.

    I did a claim for my washer dryer and my hood range. The dryer was squealing and it seemed like there was a buildup of lint in coins in it. So the tech took that out and it fixed the problem. Then he cleaned the washer and took care of the problem. But the hood range was not repairable. The wires had started melting so he put in a claim for it. Then American Home Shield let me pick out a new one and a company came to install it.

    Right now, the hood range is sitting off the wall. We had to turn the electricity off because when they took it off the wall, there was no junction box behind it. The wall almost looks like it may have caught on fire. I was trying to call American Home Shield to find out what our next step is. The guys that came out for that said that they were just there to install it and they weren't electricians. So they couldn't do anything any further. When I called American Home Shield, it said the wait time was 60 minutes to 70 minutes. I've been on hold for about 35 minutes.

    There was a leak in my ceiling and it took the plumber a little longer than I would like, but he got here. He was great and very friendly. However, he had to cut a hole in the ceiling and he didn't follow through to get back to American Home Shield with what he needed to get back to them with.     My water heater went out so I did a claim online which was very easy. I was told someone would be assigned within five minutes then I got a follow-up message saying that it would be assigned within 30 minutes. Sirius Plumbing & Air Conditioning called me early the next morning at 7:00 am. They were phenomenal and were better than I expected. Everything was great after their service.

    The only thing that I like to see different with American Home Shield is when a claim is processed and something is denied, they should tell me why certain things are not included versus directing me to call them. An explanation that's posted online would be so much more beneficial than me spending the time to call them. But that aside, everything was done so timely and so fast. They employed very professional contractors and they did the job within the same day. We didn't have to have to take cold showers. I really appreciate that.

    The service through the company is good. The only issue that would need improvement would be some of the vendors have long turnaround dates. Everything else has been good. Last week, our heater went out. It was Thursday and then I called them on a Friday. They're closed on the weekend, so on Monday, I had to call them three times before they called me back. They said that the earliest they can come out would be Friday, so almost five days away. It was 30 degrees outside and we didn't have any heat in the house. That was a little rough.

    Home Shield said the automated system assigned the closest date available contractor, but that wasn't the case this time. I kept calling back, and luckily, they were able to find somebody to come out the same day. It turned out to be an okay experience. The tech was able to fix our heater that same day and now, our heater is working. Home Shield came with our house when we closed on it and then we had some good experiences with it during the time we had it, so we kept renewing it. I still recommend it to a family when they buy a new home. This is the first time that we had an issue with the time. Usually, they come out the same day or next day.

    AHS has been great. They send people out and they fix the problems. My friend has another home warranty company and it takes them forever. She’s still waiting on them to come fix her heat. I told her, “You better swap over because I haven’t had any problems with AHS." The process is simple if you do it online. If you call, it takes forever to get somebody on the phone. Recently, a plumbing line was stopped up and everything was backing up. I filed the claim and AHS told me that the company had been notified and that I could call them or I could wait for them to call to set up an appointment. I called them and I had to wait 5 or 10 minutes because they hadn't got the work order. But once they got it, they were here in about 15 minutes.

    One of the dishwasher's hoses leaked and Premier fixed that. And then it was also missing the part that's underneath the appliance next to the floor. They ordered that, came back and put that in. They did very well. However, you have to submit claims online to get quick service. It's very hard getting Home Shield on the phone. And sometimes, when they select a vendor to come out and do the work, it's not that swift. I'm anticipating at some point, I would have to replace the hot water heater. And when you lose that, you can't go a week without it. That's a concern for me. The dishwasher was not a problem. But if you have an urgent issue, you want to make sure that they can get on it right away.

    Other than that, it looks like Home Shield covers a lot of things that go wrong in a home. They also replaced my thermostat. I had a very expensive Wi-Fi thermostat that broke. I was shocked to see that that was covered and they took care of it. I also had an issue with my washing machine. But it was a stackable unit so they are connected. They took care of that. I've had three issues with them, and they've handled all three of them. The fact that you can get these repairs done for $75 is wonderful. I just renewed with Home Shield for another year.

    It's easier to do a claim online than to do it on the phone. They don't seem to know what you are explaining to them. But the technician was great. He displayed very good professionalism. The guest room shower bathtub faucet wasn't working and he had to replace the whole thing. So far, it's working. He said something was broken inside so we couldn't get it to work. When you turned it on, it just turned around 360 without any water.

    My wife was freaking out because her oven was not heating to the correct temperature. The guy that was out here was nice and seemed very knowledgeable. He thought that calibrating it would fix it but it didn't. It's still over 50 degrees off.     KN Repair called in advance so I could get my kids either out of the house or put them down the basement. Also, they wore masks. However, I'm waiting for parts to be delivered. KN Repair came out the first time and the parts that they ordered did not fix the problem so they had to order another part. And they said that Home Shield requires them to do it that way as opposed to just getting both parts at the same time. I wish they would be delivered more quickly. I've been without a refrigerator for four weeks. Other than that, I had somebody out to do a heater or furnace repair and they were great. They fixed it. My husband travels for work a lot and I find Home Shield beneficial because I just have to call one number, then get the issue taken care of. I don't have to search for somebody to fix it.

    Liberty came once, but then there was something that had to be taken care of because it is not 100% right. They were ready to send somebody a couple of days back. We just told them that when the temperature goes really low, at times, the thermostat is not able to hold on to the temperature. So, they told us that we could call them back whenever necessary and they would send us the person who would take care of it. If everything was taken care of in a better way during the first visit, it would be much better, instead of them telling us that we only have to wait for a couple of business days. We have a shockingly high premium. We also have to pay every single time we have an issue. We have to pay for the visit. But as of now, in terms of service, they are quite good. They are very responsive.

    There was a noise in the AC and it was not cooling. Walker Air Conditioning sent me their information and said that they would be coming by or reaching out to me, which they did. Then they reached out right before they got here as well. Our interaction was very social distanced. We walked to the back where the unit was and they had their masks on the entire time when they came through the house to look at the actual wall unit. When they went outside, they still kept their mask on, even though they were working out there, which is what I liked about it.

    My freezer can make and maintain ice but it's not cold enough to keep things deep frozen like it's supposed to and the refrigerator doesn't get cold enough to have drinks. Things ruin faster in there than they're supposed to. The tech came before Thanksgiving and looked at it. He said he was going to recommend it for a replacement and I haven't heard anything else back. I've already threatened to cancel my account with American Home Shield three times because they came in and charged me $100, like they did for the refrigerator, and nothing happened. It was the same thing with my dryer. The guy came in, threw a quick fix on it and it still didn't work. They came back out again and threw another quick fix on it but it still didn't work. It takes three hours to dry one load of clothes.

    My dryer is 20 years old and so is my refrigerator. A whole part of AHS is that if it doesn't work, they're going to replace it. But they don't replace anything. I'm still paying my monthly premium and I'm still paying for when they come out to look at something. They've been out three times to look at that dryer. That's $300 I've spent on them coming out to look at it plus the $50 I pay a month on my account. Before they fix it, the repairman says he's got to put something else on there. So now, I gotta wait till he can come out and put another piece on there. If it works, then my dryer is good but it cost me $450.

    The refrigerator is a whole different story. The first time they looked at it, the guy did something to it. It worked for about three months and now, it has stopped working again. This person came out, looked at it and said that it's an old appliance. There was nothing he could do and he would put it in for a replacement. But I'm still spending money. AHS is costing me $54 a month and I'm still not seeing a result. They should fix my stuff or replace it like they said they do when they got me to sign up.

    If I go by what the repair people say, they're getting paid to come out. So, they're not going to say, "Replace this." Out of the three times they came out for the dryer, I've had to pay twice. With the refrigerator, I had to pay once. AHS should stand by what they say. But they're going by what the repair people say and the repair people doesn't make money if they replace it. If this isn't resolved, then I'm canceling AHS. I can replace my own products and I won't have to pay somebody $50 a month for six months before it gets done.

    I had American Home Shield several years ago and I got upset over something and left them. I looked around and I couldn't find anybody else that I liked so I went back to American Home Shield. Recently, my kitchen sinks were plugged up and I could not get them unplugged. I called American Home Shield and spoke to a lady. She took all the information down and got back to me with the name of the company that would be contacting me within 24 hours. I got a call from a guy named Richard who’s the owner of Watkins Plumbing on Friday evening saying he would not be able to have a technician out until Tuesday ‘cause it was approaching the weekend, and then Monday, the technician would be back and he's booked up. I said it was fine but I couldn't wait that long.

    I called AHS and talked to this lady. She said that she would do her best to find somebody for Saturday. I never heard back from her. But toward the evening, I got a call from Watkins Plumbing. This technician named Jerry said that he's in the neighborhood and that he would come by and look at my problem. Bear in mind that he had already worked all day and he was on his way home. But he took time out to swing by my house to check out my problem, which I thought that was very commendable. He snaked out the line several times, got it repaired, great, had a professional attitude, and was a very pleasant young man. He cleaned up my problem, cleaned up after himself, bid us goodbye, and took off. I was very pleased with that young man. He was a tribute to his company. This is my first time that I've had to put a claim in and if American Home Shield continues to work and take care of me like they did this time, I'll never leave again.

    There was a water valve leak. We had to have another person come out and give a second estimate ‘cause the first contractor overdid it and missed the mark. The second contractor was able to figure out how to fix the job for us. It wasn't as much as the first contractors said. But both contractors were nice. The part that they needed to do was done. We still have to deal with some water damage from our insurance company. But American Home Shield has always been pretty great. It’s pretty easy to submit a claim. You go online or you call in. They've always been very responsive. For the most part, they've always done what they said they will do. I always tell people that they should get American Home Shield.

    I'm a person that likes to ask a lot of questions, and when I called to get the warranty, American Home Shield was very, very helpful. So far, it's been a great experience. When I had an issue with the compressor of the air conditioning unit downstairs, the techs had to order parts and with COVID, so many thing were delayed. But the whole experience was wonderful. The communication was there. I kind of missed a little bit about what American Home Shield covered, and then they communicated and said what would be my responsibility.     We had a leak with an old pipe and when we submitted a claim with AHS, it was fairly easy. The techs that they sent out were wonderful, too. They put a flexi pipe there instead, but they had to come back out since we had to cut the water off because the leak started doing water damage going under our floor. It also messed up my husband's pressure on his hot water side of the master bathroom in the shower. I called AHS, explained everything, and they gave me a tough time for a minute. I had to call back and follow up, but they got it resolved, so no complaints on that.

    We've been paying for the insurance faithfully until we had an issue with our hot water tank. But we went a whole month with no hot water because we were going around and around with the company. Then, we just got a furnace because they told us we needed a new sensor, which worked for a minute and then it conked out. We had to go another whole month with no heat and we're here in Pittsburgh.

    My realtor gave American Home Shield to us as our welcome-to-the-neighborhood gift for our new home. I was told I should do a warranty and my Realtor did it all for me. But it has not been beneficial. I could have saved a lot of money without it. I didn't pay the original fee, which is nice. But even the $75 copays that I have to pay is more than was needed for the jobs. And when I had something that was more than $75, AHS said they were not gonna do anything for it.

    I had an issue with my oven and a person looked at it. I was told that it wasn't normal wear and tear. I was kind of confused because I didn't know what else it could be. We did nothing. We didn't beat the oven up or anything. But AHS wouldn't cover it for me. I probably won't be continuing the service after the life of the contract because I was kind of disappointed with the oven.

    Home Shield sent out Quick A/C Solutions to check my air conditioner. He is a very nice gentleman, but it seemed like he didn't speak English. It just sounded to me like he did not know and he would not answer my questions. He motioned to me that I needed a new filter. And when I asked him, he shook his head yes to that. Maybe he did understand, but to me, he didn't answer my question. Just with a yes or a no shaking of the head. They should go to their own nationality if they can't speak English. They shouldn’t go to a person who wants to ask questions. If they don't speak any more than he did, do your own people because then you will understand each other. Other than that, I was satisfied with what happened. Everything with the AC looks fine.

    Worst service ever! Been with American Home Shield for less than a year. Had my first claim with them for a dryer belt that had to be replaced. The technician informed AHS that the part could not be replaced. AHS agreed to provide a replacement/cash payout to resolve. After almost 3 months, I am still without a working dryer. I have been lied to on numerous occasions that my file was sent to escalation for replacement. However, when I called today 12/03/2020, I was told that my service order was closed and new one was requested on 10/10/20.

    This is not accurate because a technician never showed. They did not come because they previously informed AHS that the part could not be ordered. Now AHS conveniently has no documentation from the technician that could not fix the dryer. I was basically told by the AHS representative that I was a liar for even suggesting that my dryer was sent to escalation for replacement. When I kindly thanked the representative for her help and asked to be connected to her manager, she refused. Informing me that there is not a manager at her company to help me.

    So I am to believe that AHS warranty claims department does not have a supervisor or manager overseeing employees? What a joke. Their solution was to place me on hold to be connected to the escalation department, in hopes that I would just give up and disconnect. I am currently still on hold with them and it’s been well over 2 hours. What joke. TERRIBLE COMPANY, HORRIBLE CS, STAY AWAY!!!

    Myers had installed the thermostat a couple of months earlier. They came back three months later after it stopped working when it went from the air conditioner to the heater. That was when we found out that the guy installed it wrong the first time. He put the wrong thermostat up and that caused the problem. So far, I'm dissatisfied with American Home Shield.     My dishwasher wouldn't drain. Precision Appliance Repair was dispatched and they took really good care of me. Jennifer was their assistant. She was super nice and set everything up. Then Philip came out and he tried everything he could to figure out why it wasn't working. Then he realized it was the pump. He took the pump from the dishwasher to his truck, and he tried fixing it. Then he said he would have to order a part because of the age of the dishwasher. It was a hard part to come across, so he said it would take about anywhere from three to five business days. The very next day, he called and told me he found a part locally and that he would be able to come by the next day if that was okay with me. It ended up working out perfectly. I was super impressed with their service.

    With COVID and everything, AHS has an automated phone service. But when I first filed my first claim to them, it was very hard to get contacts. I actually had to do the online chat, which they were able to take care of me there. It was just kinda confusing 'cause I tried calling on the phone and they sounded like they were super busy so no one ever picked up. But other than that, I've been super happy with them.

    It was an excellent experience. The technician who was out here doing the work we had requested knew his business. He told us exactly what the problem was and fixed it. We're very happy with it. He was working on our refrigerator where the freezer had frozen and there was ice all over the place. But what happened was the refrigerator door wasn't closing good and he had to correct that and check out the gasket. Now, everything's working perfectly. He was outstanding.     The guy helped me. My daughter's toilet had been running and was leaking water from around the bottom. He repaired it and put a new flusher on it. He was thorough. He was also very detailed with me. He said, “Let me check out what's going on and I'll repair it to the best of my ability.” And he did. It’s not running any longer. It’s not leaking any water. He did exactly what he was supposed to do.

    We've had to use Home Shield a few times so far. It seems a simple process. The first one I called, and then there was another one that I did online and made a request. They got back to me quickly and got it fixed right away. The tech who recently came out was very professional and efficient. I liked him. It's good to know that there is a flat rate, the $75 rather than 100 and something, like we had a part replaced on the refrigerator. I asked a technician about how much does that usually cost, and he said 170 something. So, at least we have saved some money.     We had some problems with the air conditioning which we called our regular air conditioning people for and had them fix it. After that, I was talking to a neighbor and told them I had all this work done and it was so expensive. He said I should have American Home Shield and they really love it. He said, “We pay monthly and a service charge. They come out and if they can fix something, they fix it. If they can't fix it, they replace it. It's good to have that insurance.” So I decided I'd have it.

    Recently, it appears that two of the dampers for my heating system are not working appropriately. We have three zones and when two other zones are calling for heat, instead of sending it to those two zones, the third zone is doing something and sending all the heat to the third zone so all the heat is going upstairs. I put in a request for the service and the tech was very nice. He explained everything to us and said that they have to order the parts so they haven't been back yet to fix it.

    The guy deprogrammed the garage and he reprogrammed the garage door opener but he forgot to reprogram the keypad. As a result, we had to go through a couple of inconveniences to make that happen. He let us believe we might need a whole new garage system which was not what we needed at that moment. However, we got a second opinion and found out that if we looked into this and that, we were good to go.

    What disturbed me with American Home Shield is they got a lot of little clauses where if you need something fixed, they go through the fine print. I needed someone to replace my faucet. Their people came out and found the plumbing issue but they don't do faucets. For single women who are not inclined to do stuff like that, that's a real inconvenience. That's not intuitive in that line of work. But for the most part, it's a very good process with American Home Shield. They are real good about taking your concern and getting someone out as soon as possible.

    I was getting dirt and like a drizzle of water coming from the faucet, and it wasn't the first time. It's a new faucet, but it happened with the old faucet also. The contractor had hit the faucet, and it kind of cleared it for a minute, and then it would return. We couldn't get the water to actually come out. So, it was suggested that it might be dirt in the line coming from the street. I explained the issue to the plumber, but I thought what he did was unusual. I wasn't 100% certain that it was going to work, but he did tell me I had 60 days in which I could call in without paying another service call if the problem returned. So, that made me feel good. He took a washer out of the spigot, and cleaned it, and ran the water. So far, it's been acting fine.

    American Home Shield has been extremely helpful because I have a pool and I took that as one of my additional coverage. Within six months later, I needed to use them. They've come out, and they've replaced one of my pumps and did some other work that would have cost considerably had I not had the warranty. Since then, they've also came out and replaced my waterline in my freezer, and the part inside the freezer that churns the ice because it was rusty. I got the line when I got the refrigerator. Then, one day, we discovered that the part that cuts the ice up and stuff was rusty. I'm like, “We're drinking ice tubes made with rusty water.” So, for a while, we had stopped making the ice and just bought the trays. It was very inconvenient. They fixed that. I've had them out twice for my washing machine and they replaced parts. So, I keep them because they're very handy.

    They take care of my problems. I don't have to do all the hunting and worry about whether or not I'm getting somebody that’s qualified. I've only had to turn one company down that they had initially recommended. In that timeframe, the contractor that they got in touch with to service me didn't call me back in like three days. But that was the only incident that I've ever had with them, which was not their fault. If I had called this person, got them out of a phone book, I’d have been very upset.

    Budget AC helped me out, but my furnace still will go in a loop. It takes about four hours for it to clear itself and kick back on. When they came out and checked the furnace, they told me I got 60 days. They wanted me to monitor it, and if I have challenges, they'll be right back out to go to the next step, and clean it out and put it back together. The only problem is now you get the condenser and all the water from the heat comes in. That part is just not draining properly. Their fix was a simple clear up. They just cleared the line and showed me how to clear the line and wanted me to monitor it. If it absolutely does not work and I go through a whole day without heat on the first floor, I'm gonna give them a call and have them come back out. I am happy with what they did thus far. American Home Shield delivers on time, great customer service.

    I love Home Shield. They're fantastic, as well as C & D Doors. I gave Home Shield feedback about adding more dialogue on what they cover for garage doors, because I felt let down on part of it because of the way they had written it out. What the problem was the spring is busted. It's not part of the door track, so I had to pay for the spring, even though it's a door track. It has to do so much work, it burnt out the motor and that's why we had to put a new motor in as well. Other than that, Home Shield has done a great job of covering what I need.

    GJC came out to look at the doorbell and then they came to look at one of the light switches that we had. They also looked at some of the lights that we had in the kitchen. It was a really good experience. The tech gave us some good advice on what possibly could be done. He gave us a bunch of alternatives in case one situation didn't work out. It was all around a good experience. He didn't just come in and be like, "Okay, well, we can't fix this," and then leave. He actually gave us some other options to look at and he gave very good feedback.

    Submitting the service request was really easy to do, but AHS should allow the customer to put in exactly what's wrong so the service guys will have a better idea of what they're coming to look at. Even though when they come out, they are doing a review to see what exactly is wrong. But it would be better if the customer could give them a better understanding of what they're dealing with. But I would definitely recommend my family and friends to AHS because it was really efficient. I put in the order for something to get done and they called me 10 minutes later. That doesn't happen with any company whatsoever. The service guys came out the next day. So that was really great.

    It was a little confusing with the second request that I had for the guy to come out and look at the appliances. I wasn't aware that I had to wait for AHS to give me a call to set it up. But on my first experience with electrical, I submitted the claim, and then the guy called me 10 minutes later to set up the service and he came out the next day. With the other situation, I didn't get a call for at least another two weeks. So that was confusing on whether the process was still the same or where if it was different or if they just forgot.

    We had a leak in our upstairs bathroom. We didn't know if it was coming from the shower or from the toilet. So, we had one guy come out through American Home Shield, and he just caulked around stuff, and went in the little access panel. I told him I didn't think that's what it was. But he's a plumber, I'm not. So he did that. Then, the leaks still happened. A second guy from a second company came out. He took the toilet up, put a wax ring under it and did a couple other things. He thought that was gonna do it, and he left, and it still wasn't it.

    Another guy came out from the same company and took the toilet up again, and put like two or three wax rings under it. Unfortunately, that still didn't do it. So we called, and the same company came back out. This time, we finally went through the downstairs up in the kitchen ceiling. They cut a little one foot by one foot spot out, and there was a pipe that we couldn't see, and then there was a crack in it that was slowly leaking. The final run did good and it’s fixed. The technicians were very professional. They were here on time, wore masks, and did a great job.

    The AC wasn't working. AC Rescue came on out, shut down the bad breaker, and got back to the AZ electric and they came right back out to fix it. We have American Home Shield for multiple houses and the only thing is that the deductible is still so high. Nevertheless, I still recommend it because it's quick to submit a claim.

    When I call American Home Shield, it’s a fee to pay before they come out. They take so long to come and fix whatever is broken like my stove. I've been waiting and it’s aggravating because the holiday is close. The tech said it would be the 22nd of this month. Then a few days passed, and the techs called me and said it was gonna be a little longer than that. At the same time, I submitted a claim for the electric outlets and Acadia Electrical Contractors came.

    In my bathroom, I had a leak under my sink and my showerhead and the water spout to the tub were loose, so I needed those repaired. American Home Shield. set me up with H & K.     The gas heater was making a funny noise that had gotten super loud when it was turning on. The tech came out and I told him about it. He was quiet but he explained to me what was going on. I asked him if there was anything we need to watch for because he said they had to order the part to get it in and he explained to me about the emergency shutoff, such that if the blower motor was to go out, it would shut off and to let them know so that they could schedule it to get out sooner. So, he was great. My parents don't have a home warranty and I told them that they should contact American Home Shield if they had any issues.

    The service is very quick and responsive. We get a phone call back from A-US within 24 hours from putting our claim in, or less. We get text notifications that the tech is coming out. The timeframes have always worked with our schedule. And they're clear on what's wrong and if they have to order a part or with the timeframe. We're lucky that our house is very well-insulated, and we don't live in like a super cold area. Because the part took a few days. But that's not an inconvenience to us. They were back Friday and got the work done, and everything works great. But if you were in a really cold part of the country, going a few days without heat might be problematic.

    The other thing is there is some level of comfort with the fact that at least, we believe that Home Shield has vetted the contractors. As a homeowner, trying to research somebody, and verify, and find reviews before you have them come out and do jobs in your home, knowing that they have selected somebody for you, that they have been vetted, and they're coming out saves a lot of time. It would take me all day or longer to find a reputable contractor to come do major repairs.

    We're in an older home. But even though it was renovated 10 years ago, just having the peace of mind that the heating, air, plumbing, electrical is covered if something catastrophic happens. That is the peace of mind we are willing to pay. Anytime you have to have major plumbing, electrical work or heating and air, you know that you are upwards of thousands of dollars. This particular repair was not that much. It's just some small items. But I feel better knowing we have that kind of coverage as opposed to not. Some people might get a bank loan or something. We had a problem with a dishwasher years ago, but they ended up getting it all resolved. We have utilized the service and have been very happy.

    We submitted a claim for our heater and that was fine. My husband talked to the technician that came and according to him, the technician could not figure out the problem. The heater was a mini split and he didn't deal with those kinds of heaters. The technician was supposed to call American Home Shield to let them know about that and that they should send a different technician that knows about those units. But we haven't heard anything yet. That aside, we're satisfied with American Home Shield. We have a wall heater and someone came out and fixed that. We also had another service for plumbing. There was a stoppage and people that came out fixed it right away.

    I bought my first house in the beginning of October and did not move in until a week before Thanksgiving. Six days into me living here, I had an issue with my ceiling leaking and the plumbing issues. My realtor told me I had American Home Shield and she told me to contact them to submit a claim.     The company did great for each time that they came out. I have old machines, but they're General Electric. They're basic machines and initially, the machine was making a noise and the belt had worn out. We had to order the belt, which made me have to wait four weeks till the belt came in. They came back and put the new belts on. When I did laundry, the heater wasn't working, so the repairman came back. He came in and said, "Well, I've got it working. But if it gives you any trouble, let me know, and I'll come back and I'll replace the heating element." I was like, "Okay." I called them immediately, but the schedule made it five weeks more. He then he came back and replaced the whole heating unit.

    I did my laundry one more time and it made such a hellacious noise. It was absolutely horrible. First, it was vroom, vroom and then it was metal on metal. It was a high-pitched thing, so I had to call them again and waited a week. When the guy came, he looked at it. The spindle that the drum sits on, which is usually very robust, gives out after 25 years and he had to replace that. Through some sheer luck, he said he came across that earlier in his career and he had one in his van, which was bizarre to me and to him, even more, because he knows what the likelihood of having that part in his truck is. He replaced that and now my unit is running perfect three months later.

    It was above and beyond. Meanwhile, at one point, my washer was giving me trouble, and someone came in and looked at that too. It hasn't done that since. It was a bad couple of months (September October, and November), but my daughter lives close by, so I was not going to the laundromat all this time. I was fine. American Home Shield responded every time that I requested additional service and only charged me what I felt was fair. When I had to call back, they were like, "Okay.", so it kept continuing. They didn't overcharge me. I'm thrilled that I have the warranty.

    A tech from Service One Appliance came and looked at an icemaker that wasn't working. It started working again so they closed the account. But it continued to leak water so I had to go back to Home Shield and have them reopen the file. They haven't come back till the 17th. They're busy. We've used American Home Shield quite a bit this year. We had a problem with our air conditioner and I was really happy with that person who came. It is pretty good and it's pretty fast to submit a claim online. There's a $75 charge for each service call, so it's really more of a pay for service and you get a discount. It doesn't cover everything.

    Home Shield still hasn't replaced our microwave. We've been waiting on a replacement for a little while now and still, nothing is moving. The buyout option was nowhere near what in actual it would cost us. So, we're waiting for them to replace it with something in stock. Our microwave didn't turn on anymore. The oven works, but the microwave portion did not. So, we called them to set up an appointment, and then they sent somebody to our home.

    First, a GE Appliance guy came and he got that working. Then about 25 days after that, it broke again. So, we called American Home Shield and reported it again. Universal came out the first time then. The guy was was very nice. He tried his best, but it didn't work. He did it multiple times. He came back three times to try different things, but nothing worked. Their claims process is extremely difficult. Every time you call into customer service there, you’re on hold for about an hour to an hour and a half. Then you talk to them, and then they transfer you somewhere else. Then you're on hold again until somebody comes back.

    The first guy that came out for our recent claim was from Oreon Appliance and he had no idea what he was doing. He told me they were gonna replace the door switch, then turned around and told AHS there was nothing wrong with the microwave. ABM Appliance came out on a Friday. The guy knew exactly what he was doing.

    He said it was an old microwave, which it is. It’s 26 years old. He said it was either some grease in the touch panel or some grease in the system. Or there was a wire in there that was loose after 26 years of service. I agreed with him. He said he would submit his report to AHS and he did. He knew what he was talking about. One thing I dislike about the whole process is the hold time with AHS is terrible. An hour and a half to talk to a living, breathing American, no excuse for that. But I talked to Briana yesterday in Arizona because we were trying to figure out how to replace the microwave and she was a great person and got things resolved.

    I got familiar with Home Shield because my brother has been dealing with their company for 10 to 11 years. I signed up with them because of his recommendation. I called on the phone and I talked with a representative. There was a question on could I pay for the bill monthly, and then they talked about that I owed $125. I don't know where that came from. But they somehow rectified that problem and made contact to Pinnacle HVAC. And that was resolved, so I was happy about that.

    The gentleman came out on the 20th of November. He diagnosed the situation of my furnace and said that it needed a control board, and that he would go back to his company and notify Home Shield. I called Home Shield yesterday and they reached out to Pinnacle HVAC. And somehow or another, the paperwork got lost in the minutiae with the holiday. It went one way which should have been another way. They said that they got the invoice and they sent the approval back to Pinnacle. I haven't heard anything from either one. I was just waiting to hear from Pinnacle, when they can receive. Other than that, Mike was excellent. He has been doing this for 15 years, so the professionalism was to my expectation. He came in, looked at it. He is well-versed with his experience with the problem, so I feel good about that.

    I called about Home Shield and they told me their coverage. Then, I explained to them that we don't use our furnaces all the time and they said they would come out if I turn it on during the wintertime and something is wrong. I would pay $100 and they would fix it. And if they can’t fix it, they would replace it. That doesn't sound bad so I signed up. This winter, I turned the furnace on and it started making a noise.     Once American Home Shield finally listened to what I was saying and fix the right piece, it was great. The dishwasher was leaking. When the techs got here, I told them that it was leaking. I tried to get them to go downstairs with me so that they could see where it was leaking from, and they didn't do that. They just started taking things off of the dishwasher, which has been replaced, I didn't realize that, but they still did not address the issue of the leak. So, when they left, and I turned it on, my laundry room was flooded because that was where the leak was going into. So, then I called American Home Shield back and they sent somebody else out, and he specifically fixed the leak, and now I have no problems. They were pretty efficient and very polite, and they did a good job. It took them less time to fix than it would have taken me.

    American Home Shield was great. It was easy and they did it quickly and professionally. Lately, we've used them more than we normally do. We had the water heater and then the sewer. The sewer ended up not being covered by anything. It was a couple of crack pipes on the lawn. The guy from Stellar Plumbing who did the repair was excellent.

    We just had our brickwork redone around our flower beds and the plumber had to dig up a couple of really ornamental bushes and to get to the line. But they did it really carefully and they fixed the brickwork. They also planted everything back perfectly. They were very professional. They came out twice. He ran the whole line and he was pretty sure that it was the problem. Then it ended up being two cracks and he was amazed that we were having no problems at all until now ‘cause it was bad. Then most plumbers would have charged 2,000 but he charged 900. They did excellent work. They were really methodical and very clean. I was very impressed. In fact, I'm keeping their card.

    American Home Shield has been great. If it was something that they would have covered, it would have cost me $75. Just to have a plumber out can be anywhere from $100 to $130 so in that sense, it's great. Then this past year with the water heater going, that alone saved us over 1,000. We've had American Home Shield the whole time since we bought it. It was a year old. Now, the home is almost 20 years old and things will go. So I'd much rather have that support than not. It just makes no sense to me not to have American Home Shield. There was a weird time that American Home Shield had where they weren't very good. But it seems like you've corrected a lot of that, which is the right thing to do.

    We had our washing machine go, but American Home Shield wasn't doing the product match anymore. We also get our ACs and our heater serviced every year for efficiency and hopefully, longer maintenance. But we have to fill our Freon and I know each year, there is going to be a point where they're just going to be done with them. Also, the cost for what was being replaced is becoming not effective. But I'm glad that we have American Home Shield for those kinds of things. But at the same point, I know that there was a dip there. I'm just glad to see that they worked that.

    The heating place was good service. They were very respectful, especially with the COVID thing. I wasn't sure how people were going to be doing with masks, and they were great. It was like, "You need to see the thermostat, to get in the house and look at that." And he made sure he kept his distance. I was very happy with them and their work.

    And then, a man came and looked at the dishwasher, and they were also good. He told me the problem was with the garbage disposal instead of the dishwasher. And he was able to just do a quick five-minute because I never used Home Shield's services before. We just recently purchased the house in April. So, I didn't know what to expect or how things were going to go. And each time you had a different service done, you have to make a different call. I was like, "Well, wow, I'm gonna have to call somebody else just to do this one little thing for the garbage disposal?" He said, "No."

    My dishwasher wasn't draining, and I have never had a dishwasher before, so I didn't know what to look for. He went straight to the garbage disposal and he said, "Well, somebody put in a new garbage disposal, but they didn't take the plug out." And it's just a quick little five-minute pop with a screwdriver and he got it up and going. I was like, "Ugh, I've been going without a dishwasher since April, doing it all by hand." They were great. They were very professional and personable.

    I have one complaint that there was an offer that Home Shield made for cleaning out dryer ducts, and we called to have someone service ours. We set up an appointment, we waited at the house, no one ever came, no one ever called. I finally called them and they said, "Oh, well, we're just really backed up and we were really busy and we just neglected to call you." I was like, "So my whole entire day, I could have been getting other things done, but I was waiting for you to show, and you never called." I would suggest that they try to do better on calling their clients if they couldn't come to do a service call. Other than that, I would recommend Home Shield's services. It's definitely worth it.

    My husband and I had never owned a home before, so when we were going through with the Realtor and they suggested Home Shield, and I was like, "Well, I don't know if this is gonna be something we'll ever use or not. It might be cheaper just to skip it." But my husband explained it to me, "What if our refrigerator goes out?" Compared to what we're paying, and I was like, "Okay, yeah, you got me on that one." We got a notification from Home Shield in the mail that we're going to be coming up to renew our services with them in April. That is good too that they do some things through the mail to notify people to let them know way ahead of time that it would be time to renew.

    Grade A Plumbing came to replace a kitchen faucet and hook up a washing machine. During transit when the machine was being moved, a hole got poked in the drain hose and I had to have it replaced. I went out and bought a generic one at Home Depot and it would not fit. The plumber showed me the right hose and I was able to order it online and install it myself. Grade A was helpful and they were able to show me a few things that I wasn't aware of. Everything has been working fine since then.

    In the early part of last year, I made a claim with American Home Shield about my electric. First, they sent one group out. When the problem started off, they sent another electric company. This went all the way back into the summertime. This latest time I called, the person I talked to was Jay. They claimed that they didn't see any follow-up appointments or anything in regards of this problem. I said, "I don't see how because I've been dealing with this as early part of summer." They sent out one electrician at first who didn't really do much.

    When they sent out Advanced Electric, David came out and he figured out what the problem was. It was like a shortage of something in the ceiling fan in my living room. He told me not to use that for a while. I asked why and he said, "Well, I'm going to have to call American Home Shield and let them know about this problem and everything. And I'll get back to you." He had given me his cell number. I never heard from him from that day on. I turned around and reached out to American Home Shield again. I told them what the situation was because it did happen again. I called back after I didn't hear from David for about a week because he told me within 24 hours and that was when the problem started.

    From then on, about every week, I was calling American Home Shield. I know you have 30 days when you don't have to pay again. I got the runaround from American Home Shield numerous times. I asked to talk to a supervisor and then a lady came on. I talked to her on July 15th at 9:30 in the morning. I explained to her my problem. I said, "You know, this is not right. It's summertime. Y'all don't even reach out to me. I've been with American Home Shield for a while. I have referred practically my whole family and friends to American Home Shield. And for me to be treated like, 'Oh, well. Hey, if you don't like it, you know what you can do,' type of attitude."

    I also said, "My hand is tied because you're giving me the runaround. You keep saying, 'Oh, we'll call you back in 24 hours.' And then that 24 hours goes into a week, seven days. And I'm constantly calling y'all back. I got a list of how many times I have called about this problem. And not once have y'all lift a finger to reach out to me. I have left numerous calls. When I talked to the people, when they couldn't help me, I said, ‘I have requested a supervisor.’” They tell me they're gonna put me on hold. That hold sometimes goes into an hour. But it goes to show them how determined I wanted to talk to a supervisor to the point that they hung up on me.

    This latest time, I had to turn around and pay another $75 two weeks ago for them for Advanced Electric to come back. The guy, David, lied because then when I finally got in touch with him during the summertime, he said, "Oh, the owner, he's out sick and the secretary. So I'm pulling this all by myself. And Jane, I promise you, I'll get back to you." He never did.

    I called on 11/20, and I had to pay another $75. I told them, “I'm on a fixed income. Now, you're gonna charge me." I was told, "Well, ma'am, it's past the 30 days." I said, "But I was calling before the 30 days had left. And you didn't reach out to me at all." Now, I'm getting the runaround again.” They were supposed to contact me over two weeks ago that American Home Shield was going to okay about the panel and stuff. Now, this week, it'll be going into three weeks. That means if I make another call and the 30 days is up, I have to drop another $75.

    I love AHS. I’ve referred several people to them. It is the best thing that I could have ever done. I’ve had no problem with American Home Shield. I've had other companies try to get me to go with them, but no. AHS has been good for me. Recently, I was having a problem with my dishwasher and my microwave. Suncoast came out and they took care of the dishwasher. When it came to the microwave, they don't make the part anymore. So, the microwave had to be replaced.     I received a reminder from American Home Shield that if I order the annual service on my furnace to make sure it is functioning correctly, it's only $75 instead of a higher amount if I just call them up and say, “I want my furnace looked at.” I took advantage of that. The only thing that was discouraging is that happened in October and I didn't get an appointment until late November. But as it turned out, the young man that came out from Climate Pros was very professional and very clean. He wore a mask the whole time and did a good job. I was happy with his work.

    Summit Plumbing did really well. They were quick and efficient. I know a bit and they trusted my opinion too. It was easy to talk to them and communicate about the repairs that were done. They did what was necessary. There was only a slight hiccup because we had to pay for an additional modification. Still, that wasn't major. I don't like AHS's automated entry though. It should be a little faster especially when I'm submitting a claim. We had an issue with our pipes one time and we used AHS. It took a long time just to talk to someone. So, it was confusing.

    The guy was great. We agreed upon a time for him to come. He did let me know up front that there were some supply chain issues with parts that it might be delayed. But he diagnosed the problem. Then it turned out that we have a parts place very close to where we live. Once he took apart the dryer and saw what was needed, he went over, got the part and fixed it. He was very nice. He brought in a vacuum cleaner and cleaned up everything afterwards. We were very satisfied with the service. Sometimes American Home Shield sends somebody over who I feel is very capable and professional but we've had a few incidents with them where that was not the case. The problem didn't get resolved but eventually did. I've been with American Home Shield close to 15 years and overall, our experience is positive. We are glad we have them. It's a good safety net.

    We're grateful to have the service. It's already paid for itself. The customer service was great and they worked with our schedule. There was one door that the gentlemen could not rekey and he gave us some advice on how to how to rekey it ourselves so we’ll probably end up doing that. My wife was home for when he did the rekey and from what I heard, he was a little bit slow. Other than that, it was fine. We also had an air conditioning claim and that was great too. The first contractor AHS sent was from far away. The scheduling issue was inconvenient but they worked it out. They sent a different contractor who came unbeknownst to the first contractor so the first contractor was still trying to contact us. It didn't hurt us but it made it inconvenient for one contractor.

    The first time that Appliance Express was called, the dishwasher had stopped. It wouldn't finish the draining cycle. Then when the tech came out, he said it wasn't latching properly. He fixed something to the effect that now it was draining. But after he put the faceplate back on, we tried to load it up and run it and it didn't go very well. The lights would come on when we hit the start and then it would do the flashing green light saying that it wasn't making a connection. The second time that the tech came out, he said he had fixed that where he changed out the latch where it would latch properly. Then today, he was still confused by it.

    Apparently, the metal portion that the latch attaches to still wasn't making a connection. It's a safety device and that's what gives the power to the machine from the wall. So if that wasn't making the connection, even though it was in there and it would become latched, it wouldn't make that proper connection. The tech has done something in it and it seems to be working now. He said he still might have to order some other pieces to fix it properly, but he said it should work temporarily until they could get the pieces in. They're pretty good and they're always on time. It was just disappointing that I had to call them out three different times to get it done correctly.

    The hinges of the dishwasher were bent. Kimbros had to order those and get them. They corrected the problem. Now, I can use it. And then, the icemaker went out. That was the first time. I've had that for 17 years, so, I thought I got my money's worth out of that. Kimbros Appliance was very professional and pleasant. They communicated well over the phone. They tried to help me out. Because even my refrigerators, I wasn't sure it was the icemaker because it would work for a while, and then it would go out for a couple of weeks. It wasn't reliable. But I kept hating to spend the money to get it fixed right now at this particular time. And I'm on a fixed income. But they made me feel really good, and they answered all my questions. I wouldn't have anybody else come in my house to repair my appliances.

    I like Home Shield and the way they operate. But there are two things I don't like. I don't like the automated service because I had a problem with this particular situation because I had to do an add-on. It was hard to get to a representative. Once I did, he didn't put it as an add-on. He put it as a recall. And that caused some confusion on everybody's part. But for Kimbros, they asked me, “Well, you need to call,” and then, “This is what happened.” The representative sometimes was not that helpful. Other than that, I appreciated Home Shield so much. I started with them in ’04. And then, as I moved, I have continued the insurance.

    Oldham County Electrical was great. They were very professional and on time. They were also friendly and were easy to get ahold of. I forgot the date and time they were coming so I called and left them a message and they called me back. They did a good job. Our unit is working fine now.     My water heater had been leaking and Neely Brothers came out. They were wonderful and there was a girl who kept calling me and keeping me posted with what was going on. They weren't supposed to install the water heater until last Friday, but I had some water damage so they had to come cut walls out and take floors out. She kind of sped the process up for me and they came out on Wednesday evening and got it taken care of.

    I always call AHS when I have a claim and they automatically take my payment. One time, my air conditioner went out a couple times and they called and had the heating and air people come out. But it bothered me a little bit that it seemed like the American Home Shield people are kind of on the back burner, because they were taking care of their customers first because it would take sometimes several days for somebody to come. And when something like your air conditioner goes out, you want somebody to come out as quick as possible, especially when it's 95 degrees outside. Still, I would highly recommend to have American Home Shield. My home was built in ’86 and you never know when something unexpected is going to happen. So far, they paid for my water heater and all I had to pay was the 315 for the pan and some vents that they ran out of the storage room.

    The first guy who came out was horrible. He completely changed the settings on my dryer when he checked it and he put it on manual. And he kept saying, "I'm gonna check and see. It's probably the sensors." But when you put it on manual, the sensors are not in play. It's a manual dry. I said that to him and I said, "Well, maybe you need to put it on what I use." "No, no, no, this is what I need to do to check it." He couldn't get it to do anything wrong. It tumbled. I even asked him, "Why don't I put some laundry in?" "No, no, that's fine." My impression of the first guy was that he just wanted to get in and get out as quick as possible.

    On the other hand, the second guy was wonderful. He was personable, knew what he was doing, and immediately knew what the problem was. He tried it on the settings that I used to dry my laundry with a full load of laundry in there drying. Sure enough, it was having a problem. The second guy was great. The only complaint I have is it takes a long time for AHS to notify me that the job is closed. It takes three weeks. Other than that, I found submitting a claim to be very easy. I was very pleased.

    The process to get someone is very easy with American Home Shield. We call and they send somebody out usually within days. The $75 co-pay is taken out of our account. I don't have to worry about sending a check or giving them my credit card. It's all automatic. The problem that we're having is with our washing machine. AHS sent somebody out and he took probably two weeks because he kept saying he had to get the parts. He said he finally fixed it so he left and the washing machine was still doing the same thing. So, we called him back and this guy was supposed to come out and he never showed up. So we called AHS and they sent somebody else out again but it cost us another $75. The second guy was from Sears and to this day, our washing machine still leaks. It still sounds like a thrashing and it's not fixed. We should not have had to pay another $75 to get it fixed but that was what they told us. So, I'm a little disappointed in that.

    On the other hand, we had a problem with our dishwasher and a guy came out. He ordered a part, came back out and fixed it. It was fine. Then, our heater went out and the guy had to order a part. Then he found out that he had the part and he came back the next day. He worked forever on it but it worked. I was astonished and in awe that he would stay that long to make sure it was working. So, we were very pleased with him. To our way of thinking, it’s worth the money. This is not the fault of AHS but the contractors they're hiring. Still, we've recommended AHS to our daughter and to some other people.

    The unit is leaking. We found that out two days ago when AAction Air came back out to do a recheck. They had to put some dye into the system when they first came out to see if there was a leak probably. Because of that leak, it causes water to build up in the pan at the bottom of the system due to the installation when the system was put in. We also found that there's a hole in the pan. When the water builds up, it leaks into the house and drips down into the living room area. But the experience went pretty good because AAction Air was very knowledgeable. The guy knew exactly what to look for. I also had called American Home Shield for my microwave one time when it went out. The guy literally came over within two days or so and fixed it on-site so it was good.

    I like the process with American Home Shield. You log into your portal through your account online and there's a button there that says, “Submit Request for Service.” It gives you the options of what you want the service to be for. Then you put your own notes in there, hit submit, you get a text message, somebody will contact you within 24 to 48 hours and set you up an appointment. American Home Shield is worth it. I recommend it to everybody who at least is a homeowner. Something can break down just like that and to know that you only have to pay $100 for somebody to come out to look at it is worth it. I recommended it to one of my co-workers and she now has it because of all the different plans you can choose from.

    We requested AHS as part of the sale. You'll never know when you're buying if the appliances are not new. It's nice to have that coverage. We were protected with AHS for a year from September ‘19 to September ‘20 in my daughter's house. We are protected presently for our condo in Florida from February this year until February next year.

    I recently had some electric wall heaters that needed to be repaired and they ended up being replaced. I called AHS and there were two claims we did at once. They said a contractor would get back to us in 24 hours but it took a few more days than I expected. But it wasn't an issue because it wasn't an emergency. The guy called me the night before and when he was on his way. His morning appointment got canceled so he asked if he could come early. I told him I was not there but to give me a few minutes. He said it was not a problem. Once he got here, it was fantastic. He was very professional and very thorough. He had to go out and get parts then he came back. It was really nice to work with him.

    My furnace was acting up. It was blowing cold air. I reached out to American Home Shield. Immediately, I was contacted by S & L. They made contact for an appointment to come out really quickly. In about two days, a technician came out and did the first analysis of the problem. I had a very good experience with American Home Shield online doing the claim. I also had an excellent experience with setting up an appointment with S & L to come out for the initial appointment.

    The technician was a very professional young man and courteous. One thing I liked, he was prompt. He also had on full protective gear. He kept more than 6 feet from me. He went into the basement and he cleaned up the mess. He made sure to do the whole analysis of the furnace and got the heat working. Then he also scheduled a second appointment to put in a switch. He came back within a week and he installed it just this week. When he came back into the home, the same thing, he had protective gear, was timely and not wasting a lot of time, had very professional conduct and spoke to me very clearly. He broke down what was going on. I definitely would have him come back again.

They did have to go to the supply house here in town. They didn't have it on the truck, but it was the same day. I've also submitted a claim for my refrigerator. The claim submission process was easy. I was turned on to the service because my father-in-law has had it for quite some time and he made mention of it. The external light was outside the front door. I was looking for it in the garage and all over. So, he just pressed that and he tested, and he said that it was functioning.     We weren't getting heat from the furnace and it kind of made me nervous because of the cold weather. The tech from All Temp came out and he set it up so it would run and would kick in automatically until he could get the part. Then he went to get the part. They gave him the wrong one, so he had to go back and get the correct one. He went beyond what he should do. I'm very satisfied with him. He was a really nice guy.     When there is no insurance, everybody feels that we can postpone maintenance. And for the long term, it is difficult to maintain the house. So insurance gives the plus point and it does not matter if in one year, we don't need any repair. But maybe on the third year, we'll need some sort of repair regarding heating and cooling, so we'll need the insurance. Recently, we were having a heating issue where initially, the furnace was okay.     It would be nice for AHS to communicate a little better. We keep having the same issue with our AC unit. We did not appreciate the first guy who came out for the AC very much. He told us that the issue wasn't our AC even though there was water dripping from it and there was a big puddle of water in our hallway. He even pulled the carpet up and saw the water everywhere. At this point, we have mold all over our AC. The people who came yesterday were very sweet. They said the issue was the AC getting clogged up. They fit one of the pipes and blew it out. They said that if we have another issue with the AC, they might have to come back and add a condensation copper pipe.

    I put the claim in then someone texted me right away when they could come out. They came when they were supposed to and texted when they were coming. They were very swift in finding the problem.     When I called American Home Shield, it took a couple minutes to get through. With COVID it makes it a little bit difficult no matter how you look at it but they answered fairly quickly. I told them what I needed and they took the information for my deductible. It was relatively easy and I had an appointment the very next day.

    The guy from Sears showed up on time as he said he would. He put shoe covers on and had a mask on. He went to the location. I showed him where the washing machine was and when he was done, everything was cleaned up. There was no mess and there was nothing that I had to do. Everything was fine. We talked a little bit and he told me about how much soap to use or how much not to use. He said a lot of people over-put soap in there and it gets clogged up. He cleaned up the part of the unit which was needed to be cleaned up and did a very nice job. American Home Shield is well worth it. It's worth the effort and the cost.     I was not able to close the garage door with the garage door opener nor the keypad and when I pushed the knob on the side of the house, I had to keep it pushed all the way in before it would close.     I had a problem with the oven. I'm old school, so it took me a little time to dial this and dial that and finally got somebody when I asked to speak to an operator. Then I was good. The tech came out, looked at it real good and said it needed another board. He had to put a board in it. He ordered it, came back in good time, and fixed it. Everything was up to par. He had a mask on. He was dressed professional, and he acted professional. He spent a lot of time checking this and that to make sure he got the right diagnosis for it. He told me to monitor it to see was it still gonna have that same problem. But we haven’t had a problem out of it and she has been doing plenty of cooking. So, she’s satisfied with it.     I filed a claim online with AHS and the process was easy. Then, someone called me really quickly, within two minutes, which was a great experience. The tech came out because our third-floor toilet was leaking and by the time we caught it, it had leaked through the walls all the way into the first floor. We knew it was coming from the toilet, there was water all over the floor, but we weren't sure what exactly it was coming from. We were able to turn the water off and drain the toilet. Then the next morning, things were clearly drying, so we could tell that was the source.

    But I was really disappointed with the gentleman that came out to address our issues with that. This is our new home and we haven't had any issues or had to use a home warranty company or a plumber before. So, really went with the flow, no pun intended, but then, I had a lot of questions after the fact. He didn't wear a mask and we're in Columbus, Ohio where the covid cases are really high right now. But I didn't say anything to him as I was trying to avoid conflict because I so desperately wanted someone to tell us what the problem was and help us fix it. He was only here for four minutes though and we have security cameras. He just looked at the toilet and didn't take anything apart. He said he knew what the issue was and that he could fix it. I was taken aback and I asked how he knew. Then he left and I haven't heard anything else. He wrote me a diagnosis to give to our insurance company, but I'm having to get a second opinion because I was told that the repair wasn't covered by the warranty company.

    I was really surprised that there wasn't anything further than just a visual assessment. The mask thing was disturbing, too. I’m really displeased that I spent $75 to have a tech come out, not wearing masks, spend four minutes, and tell me he couldn't help me. It was a complete waste of time and money. I had to take time off from work, so I lost revenue there. Now, I'm going to have to pay another plumber to hopefully tell me what's really wrong and fix it. So, it’s like double jeopardy.

    The service guys did a great job. They did come back last week and they installed a furnace for me. AHS did do a good job as well. But yesterday, around 5 in the afternoon, the thing just died. So I had a friend come over. He looked around and couldn't make sense with it. So I called and I emailed them. I got up this morning and called them again. They said they’d be out. They came out and the problem was the old thermostat. They corrected that and put in a new wiring. So far, so good. The guys that came out to do it did an excellent job.

    We had multiple things go wrong with our appliance. The icemaker was freezing up all the time. It would make 10 cubes of ice and freeze up solid behind the wall where the fan was, and we’d have to defrost it by doing stuff to it. The temperature inside the refrigerator was also getting up around 50 degrees and then none of the controls were working on the pull out drawer down below. They would not function. We couldn’t change anything like we used to be able to.

    The technician who was sent out was great. He's been out to the house before on our microwave and he’s a really good technician. He's knowledgeable and he was great to work with.     My refrigerator door would not close all the way. It would stay ajar. The refrigerator warning bells kept going off because the door was not closed all the way. The Sears rep came out and fixed it properly. On the hinges for the door, it just needed some washers that apparently were not originally installed when the door was delivered to me. I had service calls through American Home Shield two times in the past and the reps did not fix it properly and the problems remain. They just put like a Band-Aid on it. It was fixed for a month or two, and then it came right back. But Sears had gotten it right.

    I called my claim in. It wanted me to do it automatically through the telephone prompts, and I wanted to speak to somebody about it. This was like the same claims that I was doing multiple times. When you call, you go through the automated system. The automated system tried to get me to process it, which is normally okay, but I wanted an operator and that was a little difficult to try to get to an operator.

    Your experience with American Home Shield is really dependent upon the contractor that they send to you. They send a poor contractor, you got a poor experience with the company overall. That was kind of what happened to me the first two times. If they can do a good contractor in someone's home to make the repair, they'll be happy and satisfied. It's all a question of the contractors American Home Shield uses. The contractors, when they come into your home, are American Home Shield. If they do a good job, you're happy. If they don't, then not so much.

    I’m very satisfied with AHS and I just re-signed up for another year. For the most part, they’ve taken care of our claims very well. They're taking care of this one but it just took a week or two before I even got an answer. It takes a long time to get some feedback when you do put in a claim, but it should be done in a day or two, at least, to acknowledge that they're looking for someone and they haven't found one yet. A little follow up would be better. It took a long time to find out that AHS couldn’t find anybody to help me on my roof issue. I ended up contacting our contract company. We’re contracted through an organization through our nationwide real estate site. So I just contact the person who works corporately, they contact American Home Shield, and they will finally get some results. I still recommend AHS but I tell people they have to be patient and sometimes, they might have to call again.

    Myers Comfort Specialists came out to look at the heater. When you would turn on the thermostat, it would sound like it was coming on and it would shut itself off. It was easy to submit the claim through the website. Within 10 minutes of submitting the form, we got a text from Myers and it allowed me to schedule my favorite time, the next best, and the third-best time for them to come out. I liked it a lot. We did it on Friday and the tech came in on a Monday.

    Myers called us when the tech was 10 minutes away to let us know and that call was very helpful. He was there on time and within the timeframe that we selected. He got the repair done within less than 30 minutes. He was nice, respectful to my mom, and then was good to go. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied.     When the guy from Drain Masters came, he went to fix the drain upstairs but it got worse. He came back right away and fixed it. We haven't had any problems since. So we are really happy. We’ve done our claims largely over the phone. Once we’re able to get someone, the experience was great. The only drawback is that it takes a while to be able to talk to someone. You're usually on hold for quite a while.

    My dishwasher wouldn't drain so it was causing some bad smells and it wasn't completing the cycle. The guy ordered what he was supposed to but the wrong part came. It took two or three weeks but everything else was fine. The company was a son and a father. They were both nice gentlemen and did good work. But I called somebody out probably a year or so before and it was kind of the same issue. They kind of did a little something to get it passed. The same issue kept on happening probably about two or three months after that. I hate when you call in again about the same issue and you're paying your fee again.

    I've had a similar situation with the second claim I had with my basement AC unit. There's something funny with the wiring in the unit. When I try to cut my heat on, it won't work. It would just blow cold. They'll do something with the wiring but when it gets hot, then I gotta call again because now it's just blowing hot. They're not fixing the actual problem. They're just hardwiring whatever it is. Also, when I call in, I'm talking to somebody in the Philippines and they can never make any decisions. When I was complaining about the thing in the basement and told them it was the fourth time I've called, they were reading a script almost.

    This is the first claim that I've attempted to file that has been filed successfully. It was for the garbage disposal and I did it online so that made it easier than talking to a person. The guy who came was wonderful. He was prompt. They usually give you a window and he texted me at the beginning of the window saying he was on his way. He got here and he was professional and clean. He didn't come in with dirty shoes and he wore a mask the whole time. He did try to repair it but when he was testing it, it was still leaking underneath. He said it was a bad unit and it needed to be replaced. He ended up replacing it. He took care of business and was out of here within the same window time. It was really good.     I'm not happy with American Home Shield. Their accounting department is supposed to call me back to tell me why I've been overcharged 20 bucks a month for the last two months. The payment comes out of my account automatically. Their reps were pretty good, except I was on hold for about a half-hour the other day and it was the most annoying holding music. They have this horrible jazz that doesn't even meet the definition of music. So, by the time I got back on the phone after a half-hour, I was not in a good mood. The people have been pretty decent but some of them have trouble speaking clearly. The lady I spoke to used this term and I had to have her spell it. It didn't sound anything like what she was saying. They really need to learn how to enunciate the correct language.

    When I talked to the original gentleman when I signed up, the statistics spoke for themselves as far as home many people that American Home Shield had. They have a couple of million customers, so it's quite a few. I've had a good experience with AHS. But I don't like fact that they take more money than they're supposed to and no one really knows what they're doing in the accounting department. They actually put a pool coverage for my pool on my coverage and I didn't ask for it. I would never have done that because for the $100 fee, I could fix most problems on the pool myself.

    I had a refrigerator icemaker claim and I had it taken care of with no problem. Then they're coming out to rebuild the clothes washer next Friday. Appliance Care Experts did the refrigerator. Their tech was a little abrasive but he did a nice job. He knew what he was doing. I was trying to be helpful so I had done some research on it and told him that I had pretty much figured out what the problem was. But ultimately, I was wrong and it ticked him off. I gave him a tip when he left and apologized to him. All in all, it was a good experience. If I had another appliance go out, I would definitely be okay with them coming back out to work on it.

    American Home Shield is a pretty good setup and I've already recommended them to a couple of people. Now, I won't be needing it. But I had another place I was thinking about getting that coverage. It's a good investment. $100 is a big hit to a lot of people nowadays but at the same time, if you're talking about a $1,000 washing machine, it's nice. I also like that they stay on it until you are satisfied. That has been a plus rather than calling somebody and they come out, look at it and don't know how to fix it where you're just wasting your money or your time, and time is money. Overall, I'm satisfied and I'm not canceling the insurance. I just wish they get my billing situation cleared up.

    American Home Shield has a hard pass rule of not looking to replace and forcing the consumer to have to take a piecemeal fix. If the unit calls for a replacement, whatever it is, it should be replaced. I informed American Home Shield that because of COVID-19, the manufacturer that deals with my unit was shut down throughout the whole summer. I was given a piecemeal situation until the manufacturer was back open again. The unit was not functioning properly, but the servicer said that they don't replace them. They just fix them. It is working, but I know that I have a unit that is not efficient and that’s my biggest concern. Everything else was fine. The servicer showed up on time and serviced the unit.

    I had to use Home Shield twice this past month. Once for my refrigerator and once for my swimming pool. Home Shields’s response was excellent. I called them and they had somebody come out within two or three days, which is the best you can expect under today's circumstances. But Home Shield could do a little bit better job in vetting their vendors. I wouldn't let the guy I had with the refrigerator in my house a second time. I took care of it myself.

    The guy was awful. He tried to sell me a $700 computer chip for my refrigerator when all I needed was to clean the coils. It was like he was trying to rip me off and I realized that. But some other person who's not as knowledgeable would be very susceptible. But it wasn't Home Shield’s fault. They send the person here, thinking that they're going to do a reputable job. Sometimes, you get a bad vendor. But I'm satisfied with Home Shield. The consumer just have to do due diligence. But the guy that took care of my pool was outstanding. I have a regular pool guy, but this guy did a great job. He came in, looked at it and told me what the problem was. He said he gotta come back, but he would fix it temporarily. Then he was back in two days.

    I usually do my claims over the phone. I don't like to do it online. I'm leery of putting anything online anymore. I usually call or use the automated system on the phone. If I call at 9 o'clock, I have an email from them by 11 o'clock saying that the vendor has been notified, and the name and telephone number of the vendor. I can get in touch with the vendor. They're very good in terms of responding immediately and setting up a vendor. Within 24 hours, I always get an email or call from the vendor.

    As soon as the vendor gets here, I take his temperature, I ask him a lot of questions, and then, you can get a feel for what's going on. I've had a problem with my pool a couple of times, and they keep sending the same company. They are great. I'm on a first-name basis with the guy. But I had an interesting incident with Home Shield about three years ago. I had water tank leak so they sent a vendor. This guy was awful. He tried to talk me into replacing what I had. The tank had to be replaced. So I called American Home Shield and I said I wanted to replace the tank that I had. They said the contract only calls for $1,000. I asked if I could have the money and they said, “Sure.” They were very good in that regard. But the vendor was lousy.

    Sears was out here for a dishwasher repair and the oven, and they were perfectly fine. I've got seven contracts with American Home Shield. The only problem I really have with them is that, you ask them if something's covered, they tell you yes, and then sometimes you find out that it's not, after the service person has come.

    I always call AHS for my claims because I'm low vision. It's just a very long wait, sometimes as much as an hour. But there often is a thing where you can opt out and have them call you back. I have suggested American Home Shield to some people. They have replaced some items with me. The other day, I had plumbers here who were great.

    The Sundance Company came in for a leaky faucet. When the guy was changing the faucets, for some reason, the plumbing started leaking everywhere and he had to replace it. He replaced it with an older tubing that is no longer used in new constructions or to fix anything. Apparently, that was something that he shouldn't have done. Five months went by and the faucet just fell apart because it wasn't tightened because the tubing wasn't placed correctly. So I called the second claim for somebody to come and fix this faucet.

    Ally Plumbing changed the plumbing. Their plumber did a good job. And it’s working. The plumber was very good, not like the other guy that came over and didn’t have any time. Since that guy didn't have any time, he started throwing things around and breaking stuff. But the faucet is still not placed correctly. So I'm just gonna go ahead and pay, on the side, somebody to place a new faucet on it. The tubing that is now there is not the right tubing for the faucet. It’s separated from the wall and there’s a huge stain. It works but it's just not the way I like it.

    The burners on our oven have been working but the igniter in the baking part of the oven wasn't working. We replaced the igniter but that didn't do anything. So, we had the technician come out to look at it to see if he could figure out what was going on. He was able to repair the unit. He fixed the panel on the back of the oven because there were some wires that were loose.

    However, it was ironic because it happened again the day after Thanksgiving. We took the back panel off to jiggle the wires but that didn't do anything. And the igniter is brand new so I'm not sure it solved the problem. But then it was broken a couple of days later. I don't know if we need to pay the $75 again to have them come out or if there is a way to see if we can have somebody else come out without the deductible since the tech didn’t fix it the first time. Other than that, we had our furnace go out right after we moved in and AHS saved the day with helping us get that replaced without any out of pocket. It’s exceptional. We’re happy.

    There was some water leakage from the ceiling in the kitchen. Proven Professional Construction came and looked at the ceiling and said that there was an internal piping issue. This is tenant-occupied and I'm not in that home. They did the inspection last week and were supposed to give me a written report within 48 hours but that never happened so I'm still waiting on that.     I just moved into the property and I was going off of my inspection from the purchase of the home, things that I needed to rectify, so I called a plumber out. He came out to do an inspection, and he said, “Oh, yeah, we can do a flush for 175.” He said there didn't seem to be any issues. I have a tankless water heater and I wanted to get a water heater flush, but then the plumber said that the hot water valve was broken, so he wasn't able to do the flush. I was a little leery of it because his shirt was all wet, so it looked like he broke it. I went along and called my warranty, and American Home Shield sent out Jorge.

    I paid the $75 to have Jorge come out and assess everything and he told me initially that it wasn't broken. He also said it would just be a 185 for the flush, but when he came back and tried to do it, he said the valve was broken. Knowing ahead of time whether or not something's broken so that I can be more prepared to request what I needed to get done would be nice, but maybe you’re not able to see that it’s broken until you go through with the flush. That’s what happened with the previous plumber as well.

    I had to get the valve repaired. Because it was a second opinion, it made me believe that it was broken. I went along and got it all done in one sweep. He was able to do the flush and repair the valve. I paid a total of $700. It was way more than I anticipated to spend, but I was prepared because the other guy said that it was broken, and he gave me the same quote. Jorge was nice and helpful, and he talked to me about in the future, getting a water conditioner to help keep the water and the pipes clear. I had a pleasant overall experience besides having to pay more than what I wanted to pay.

    Our experience with AHS has been very good. The furnace quit running altogether. I like the idea that when I called them, they called back very quickly. Then, they got somebody set up and the company that had set up got up here right on time and it was good. They tested it out and they thought it was the low-pressure switch. They replaced that. But he got a bad part, so he had to bring another part in. He put it in there. It ran good for about 24 hours, and then it would kick out. So they came back up and they tracked it out and it was the control board down there. He put it in and it's been running like a champ ever since. These guys that came up with the furnace were very good. We also had a claim with the microwave. It just absolutely quit. They brought a guy up here and looked at it. He said, "You can't do it." So we got a new one.

    We're very happy to have American Home Shield. We had our repairs done and everything was good. We highly recommend them because we've had the service for years and we've had nothing but good experiences. When our refrigerator went out and there was a short in the house, North Coast they fixed that and everything came back working. They also fixed a fixture on the outside of the house. Everybody was very professional and helpful. They made things happen fast.
