    A friend recommended American Home Shield. I feel very good about the service. I had an issue and the plumber showed up on time, he was very efficient, very helpful and did a great job. He was wearing a mask all the time. We kind of both kept our distances from each other. Everything went very well. As far as filing the claim, it was okay. There was nothing in their selection that really fit the problem that I had. I just kind of picked something that was the closest thing that I could find. Then when the plumber got here, I had to kind of really explain what was going on, so he kind of understood what was going on.

    They've come quickly and they've answered the questions. If it wasn't within the contract, they would explain it. I've called them twice and I only had one thing not being within the contract. But it's been helpful. It's been a good experience. Sometimes it's difficult getting them on the phone, though. Sometimes you have to wait a long time. They offer chat and email but sometimes, you just need to talk to someone. If I had been with American Home Shield for a long time and I was used to their website and how things are filed, using chat and email and filing claims online would be a lot easier. But for new customers who don't understand and not familiar with how things are, it's difficult. They could have a line for people that are new and don't know anything. Because you feel nervous as a new customer and then having to wait is difficult.

    The most recent claim went well. It was for two different things. My refrigerator wasn't working. So someone came in for the refrigerator plumbing, but it wasn't the refrigerator. It had something to do with the outlet switch, so then they called. But they came and it was $100 payment deductible. I had also other concerns, so the electrician helped me with them. But with the outlet issue that needed to be replaced, American Home Shield denied it because someone else worked on the refrigerator before I had American Home Shield and it damaged the outlet. So because it was a damage done by someone else, they didn't cover it. But both reps that came were very good. So far, I've been happy.

    It's been a month now since we originally filed a claim for our dryer and it's still not fixed. The problem was misdiagnosed the first time a tech came out. He changed one part but that wasn't it. But we couldn't get them back out for another week. Plus, we were gone for a couple of days so it wound up being another two weeks in between the first time and the second time the tech came out. I was there the second time a tech came and he was nice enough. He figured the problem out that time. It was something that he didn't quite catch the last time. We also had to wait for the part to get here. American Home Shield could not get it because of COVID.

    I have renewed with AHS every time and I'd tell others to get the home warranty. It's worth the money, especially if you have an older home. If you bought a home that was pre-owned, you just never know. I had to put another call in today with AHS. This weekend, we noticed we were getting a soggy piece of our yard. After my daughter and her boyfriend dug down to it, we found that we have a broken pipe between the main and the double-stop on the sprinkler thing. They were able to put in a patch and get that taken care of. But there's another small leak somewhere else and service people are coming out tomorrow. It was pretty fast.

    Updated on 12/10/2020: Please be advised, these guys are scam and steal your money. Today, the third contractor was sent to my home, this is in total 9th visit. Guy was literally starring at the dishwasher for 30 minutes and then says my heating element is not working and that need replacement. When I ask how he know that he said just a guess. So I had him prove that to me, after opening the entire thing and using an external device he concluded heating element is working. Then he was again starring at the machine for another 30 minutes and says I can't fix it, he agreed that dishwasher is not able to dry the dishes.

    For entire 1.5 hours, we were using a translator to talk to each other. Guy had no information on the history of the machine and couldn't understand much. As per AHS, contractor has concluded that machine is working fine. When I asked to talk to supervisor or do a conference with the contractor they are not willing to do so. When I called contractor their manager said that he never told AHS that machine is working as expected. Please stay away from these guys, they don't respect your time and have horrible customer service. They will tell you someone will call and resolve the issue but you will never receive the call.

    Original Review: I have a dishwasher that's not drying dishes. Called these guys to fix it. The technician has come to my home over 8 times now in the last 8 weeks and this problem is still not fixed. They broke the entire unit and now fixing taking it as slow as possible. There is no way to escalate the issue, their customer service is a joke, they don't know any details every time they will put me on hold for over 20 minutes and end the call with one answer we will fix it as soon as possible. There is no way to escalate this issue so I am just stuck with a broken unit now.

    Recently, our dining room light suddenly wasn't working, even though we replaced the bulbs. The tech that came ended up doing a reset. It was a very simple fix. We had a hallway light that has never worked, so he had to do some rewiring there to get it to work. Also, in our daughter's room, we wanted to have the light switch connected to her ceiling fan. He was great. He was super friendly, super helpful and explained everything he was doing as he was doing it. I have kids that were running underfoot the whole time and he was super nice to them too. I also really appreciate that.

    We've had American Home Shield for two years and this year is the first time we've ever used it. We've used it three times and we're just so happy with it every time. I usually submit my claim by phone 'cause that's how I feel most comfortable rather than trying to submit claims online. They're always really easy to get ahold of. I'm not sitting on hold for 30 minutes. Once I get the claim put in, right away, the ball is rolling. Within three business days, I've got my service worker out here fixing it. It's been great. We are definitely a customer for life.

    The heater was on but the air wasn’t coming through the vent. There was no push behind it. American Home Shield had an air conditioning man that came in last August. Apparently, he went and put in a vent some type of a filter inside my big unit out in the garage and it was blocking the circulation of all the air. That thing could have caught on fire and I had no clue that that was done. But the guy from Gibson took care of everything. Everything works fine now and I don't smell any of that burning of that one filter. He was really nice. Everything is wonderful with him. I love American Home Shield and I recommend them all the time. It's dumb not to have them.

    I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. The fact that I can go online and put a request in and someone checks back in fast, I would recommend the company. In my recent claim, the tech was able to open up the compartment of the air conditioning unit and he noticed one of the plugs had come out. It was the one with a blue color. It goes into one of the sockets but he said it wasn't in all the way. He pushed it back in there and that was it. He was always nice, courteous, greeted us and introduced himself when he came, showed his card and badge, and then came on in. He was professional.

    My thermostat was on 70, but my house never warmed up. I called American Home Shield and made the appointment. The only thing I was questioning was why I was being charged two separate charges. It's $100 every time because it was different trades. I wasn't aware that there were different trades or subcontractors under American Home Shield. I figured I get the protection, I call somebody, it's all under American Home Shield, they can fix whatever I have covered. No one explained to me that it was different trades that would have to come in. So, if there was an issue with plumbing, plumbing would be one trade. If there’s an issue with electrical, electrical is another trade. A problem heating will be a different trade.

    Overall, the gentlemen that came out both times were excellent. I had two trades in two separate days. The one who came in for the heating was, by far, an excellent person in terms of being professional, knowing his trade, knowing how to fix the issue and holding conversation. During the pandemic, he came in with a mask on. I was making sure I was protecting him. He was protecting me. He walked me through all the issues and why it was an issue, explaining to me what was going on, and what he was doing. That's what I appreciated because if I could fix it myself, I would know the reason that it was broken in the first place or was not working. He explained to me everything that went wrong and what I could do if I had an issue in the future.

    My suggestion to American Home Shield is to explain, at the beginning when someone's signing on, that the reason that they charge for separate systems is because you utilize subcontractors, so it would be a separate charge for each system. They should explain why there are separate charges. The person who signed me up was excellent, but the thing was when I called them afterwards to schedule the appointment, and I was questioning why it would be $200 for the two separate things. The issue was a language barrier. That should be communicated better. Other than that, I've had a great experience.

    I had a leak. Submitting the claim for it to American Home Shield was pretty good. It took a while to get the tech out because the weekend was in between. It took about a week. But the tech was very good. I was telling one of my friends about American Home Shield and she said she didn't like them because there were things that weren't included in the package. She said, "You don't get refrigeration unless you get swimming pool." I said, "That doesn't seem right." She said that I needed to check and make sure that I had the right package. I've just been busy. I haven't had a chance to check and see. But I didn't get the plan in the mail. I had asked the agent I spoke to to please email me the contract that I had. I still haven't gotten it, though.

    For my garage door, American Home Shield sent a technician out. He was excellent and it was fixed very quickly. The technicians for the microwave were also great. What I don't think is fair is that since American Home Shield was not able to procure on their own a microwave that was suitable for me, they made me go pay for it and gave me a very small allocation. I ended up paying a lot and I don't remember signing anything that said if they can't uphold their end of the deal, then I have to pay more. I had to go to the store, buy a microwave, arrange for the installation, and pay everything up front. They only ended up giving me about half. I've been using American Home Shield for years and I've had a lot of success with them. But in this particular case, I think they made a bad policy call. It's not like I tried to get the most expensive. I got the only white, over-the-stove microwave that was available.

    We had an issue with our washer. It was making a noise. I described that in the website for American Home Shield, then maybe 48 hours later, I got a call from Tommy D. The tech was very professional. He came over that afternoon and checked out the washer. He needed a part that took a week to get and that was the only thing. He told us that and he said he'd get it to us as soon as possible. About six days later, he gave us a call and said, "Hey, it's here." He first gave us a call late in the evening because he wanted to ensure that we got the information the night before that. He put it back in, and our washer was back up.

    I've only had the policy this summer. That was my first time submitting a claim. The only issue I had was I didn't know if I had to contact Tommy D or they were going to contact me because on the website, it said to contact via the point of contact that they have there. I was kind of confused. But then, by the time I was thinking about that, Tommy D gave me a call.

    American Home Shield saved me a lot of money. I looked up how much the labor and cost of the pump would have been as well and along the line of getting the washers fixed and replacing it. I went through the pros and cons and even with the $100 I had to pay for Tommy D to come out, it was definitely a lot better than the alternative if I didn't have American Home Shield where it would have cost me about $300 to $400. American Home Shield is definitely a must-have if you're a homeowner because you never know what's going to happen. It was nice to have that assurance that I didn't have to worry too much.

    Top Notch Plumbing did well. There was a leak in the bathroom and the guy came out and assessed the issue. I have 30 days to see if the problem's still consistent. If not, they'll come back out. But he seemed professional enough and knew what he was talking about. I do have family and friends who have had issues with American Home Shield but from my personal experience, I've had no issues with this company as of yet. They responded within 24 hours which was fast enough so that was good.

    Express Appliance came last week to fix my washer and dryer. They fixed the dryer. The washer, they said it was fixed. But the night that I tried to use it, I couldn't use it because it was not working. It was stopping in the middle of the cycle a couple of times. I called them the day after and they told me that they need to contact American Home Shield to open a new case. I did immediately. Then they want to give me an appointment they said like a week later. Even when I booked it online, what happened was they changed my timing that I picked by the website. It was supposed to be 2:00 to 6:00, and they changed it to 11:00 to 2:00. It was very annoying because I'm working and I already took two days on vacation for fixing the washer, and I need to take another one, and I was trying to take half a day vacation, which they basically messed up. 11:00 to 2:00 means morning and the afternoon.

    I already waited for 10 days that they show up for the first time with the hope that it's getting fixed. I need to wait another week. This is not a normal timing. With COVID, as somebody who's out there working with COVID patients, where can I take my clothes to wash? Who feels comfortable and who can wait three weeks to wash the clothes? I need to frequently change my clothes because I don't want to be spreading the virus. I was very upset about that. I had a long discussion with them. They said, "That's what it is. We have a shortage of contractor and that's what it is." Then it's useless for me.

    Submitting claims is fine. I can do it and it's pretty fast, and it's pretty straightforward, if it works, not that I do something online and they change it through the text and say, "Hey, this is going to be your appointment time." They offer three time slots, morning, midday, in the afternoon. I picked the afternoon that works for me. They texted me that they change it to the midday the same day. Then what's the purpose of putting different timeslots during the day? If you want to change it, then just put it the day and say you need to stay home for the whole day that they may show. That's not something that they expect in 21st century. Now, I'm not very satisfied. I was counting. Was it really worth the money that I paid? I could buy a washer with $700 that I already paid. I'd tell people I know that they can find a company that's better than American Home Shield.

    There was a little leak upstairs from the faucet and there was water coming out everywhere on the second floor. The techs came by and it was just a loose pipe. So they got it fixed up and that was about it. But I wasn't aware that they were going to cut a hole on the roof to access it. AHS told me that they were going to cover the small access hole where the techs made it at but they were not going to touch it up. So I had someone come out so that they can do this full job of touching it up and texturizing it so that it doesn't look misplaced.

    My husband usually submits the claims online and then somebody gets back to him. The only difference with our recent experience was the contractor, A-Advanced, asked us to call, which was fine. The claim was for our rental property and I didn't hear any complaints from the tenants about how the techs looked or how they behaved. We've been pleased with AHS. We've had to use them a few times and we're glad we have the service.

    Right now, I'm not happy with American Home Shield because I have a second repair going on with a washer. It's been going on since the 24th of November. It was turned over to one company, and that particular company reached out and said they don't even service my brand of washer. Then, they gave me another company, which I talked to that company on the 24th of November. They ordered parts, and right now, the end result is that the washer is not fixed to this date just yet.

    Regarding Sears, it worked out perfectly. The guy came out, he analyzed the problem with the refrigerator. He said he was gonna order parts and he set me up for another appointment two weeks from that date. The parts arrived early, they came out and did the repair on the day they said they were gonna do it. So that worked out just fine. But this second one, I have a major problem with American Home Shield and this company. It's been too long to get a repair on a washer from and it's December 14th and it still hasn't been resolved.

    But so far, I can't complain about the service that I get when I call AHS. They take your call, they set up you a contractor to do the repair, they follow up and so far, that's been okay. I'm not ready to leave American Home Shield just yet. But, if I get some problems with my washer and that doesn't get resolved, then that will cause another issue. But I would encourage others to go with AHS. It's a good company.

    I called and submitted a claim, paid the fee, and Highway Plumbing & Rooter was assigned to me. My toilet was running then I called back and told them there was more than one plumbing issue. My sink was slowly draining and on the other sink, the mechanism to raise the stopper up and down wasn't working. I did it all through the customer service. I had to call on a Sunday and they said that the first available was Wednesday. The company did a good job. They were efficient and in and out in a timely fashion. AHS has been good too. I've called a couple of times over the couple of years that I've had it. I'm satisfied.

    I called on the telephone and this time, the process was good. They gave me the name of a company and I contacted them. That company was gonna come out in five days so I called American Home Shield back and I told them I needed the order to be expedited. The representative I spoke to the second time was awesome. He even called the company that came out to set everything up and then while I was on the phone with the American Home Shield representative, the company that was supposed to be coming out called. That part was great. The repair guy who came was good as well.

    Sometimes, when you call American Home Shield, you have to wait a week for somebody to come out to have something completed. A prime example is we have a problem with our washing machine. I called last Thursday, but someone won't be able to come out until Wednesday. American Home Shield needs to get more reliable contractors to come out to do a job. Also, when those contractors come out, they should make sure they are trained. We have had somebody come out and it seemed like I knew more than they knew about whatever the item they were coming to work out.

    The first tech came out to check our furnace and they found that the motor was no good. They had to replace it. The man mentioned that while he was replacing the motor, he noticed the fan was extremely rusty. There was so much rust, a lot of it fell to the ground as he was replacing the motor on the fan. I went out of town almost immediately, but when I came back, I noticed it was very loud. It made a rumbling sound. The same guy came back. He said it might be an imbalance in the fan, but he was not sure that that was covered. He suggested I call AHS and have someone else come out and take a look.

    Detroit Heating and Cooling came out. I turned it on for him and he also observed it was very noisy. At this point in time, the furnace works, but it's extremely noisy. He was very good and very knowledgeable. He understood. He also concluded that it was imbalanced and that's what's causing all the noise. He said he was going to submit a report right away. This was on November 20th. I called Detroit Heating and Cooling yesterday and they said they were very busy and it took a while. They apologized for having taken so long to get the report sent to AHS.

    Some of my friends have had American Home Shield, so I went on and got their warranty as well. Their is very beneficial and it helped me out a lot because I was worried about my furnace. The tech that AHS sent out pointed out some things that I needed to know though I didn't really need the service. There wasn’t anything happening and I thought it was the water heater. But it wasn't the water heater and it has something to do with the pipe and the floor. It comes from the roof and that's bringing the water inside. So, I have to have some roofing done. But everything worked fine with AHS and I was glad that I called. I got a verification and the tech was great. He did a very good job explaining things and he had a mask on during his visit.

    Spartan Plumbing came out two times. The first time they came out was the water heater wasn't working at all and they replaced a part. T hen they had to come out about a month later. It was a different part. The water heater was not leaking, but the overflow valve had busted. So the water was shooting out from the overshoot into the backyard. The woman I spoke to was very nice and helpful. But the only two problems were the amount of time you have to wait on the phone to get to a human being and then getting somebody out there in a timely manner.

    The operator from American Home Shield had given me the number from Spartan Plumbing. I originally called on a Tuesday the plumber didn't come out till Friday. That was a long time not to have hot water. The plumber said that if he could come any earlier, he would. But it was the earliest he could come out and was very apologetic about it. But he was very nice once he got here and he was quick, too. The first time he came out, he had the part and even the second time. It was not the same problem but he fixed it pretty quick, too. It was the middle of November when they came a second time and the same thing, I called on a Wednesday but he couldn't come out till like Friday evening late. Before, when I used to call American Home Shield, they would come out the next day. But this seemed a long time to wait for the technician.

    I've had American Home Shield for a long time ever since I've bought the house. I've kept it 'cause I'm not handy. But overall, I had a good experience. It's good enough that I've recommended American Home Shield to a co-worker. She had similar problems with her washing machine and she recently just signed up and she said that American Home Shield was very helpful when she submitted a claim.

    It was pretty easy to navigate through the American Home Shield website. It was perfect dealing with Control Plumbing. Nothing is wrong with the plumbing since they came. I also had a claim for the air conditioning and the experience was great as well. But when we renewed my contract, the woman that I spoke with got me a really good price. But she didn’t say it was gonna be $100 every time they came out. I thought it was gonna be the same as what I had, which was $75. When I looked over the contract, I read that but it wasn’t clear when I was doing it with the rep. So it was a little bit sneaky, but I did it anyway.

    I had a claim for the heater and I found out if I ever did have a problem, like with my air conditioner or heater, and it had to be replaced, I would have to get three people to verify that. If I was in the dead of winter or in the heat of the summer, that would be a little annoying to have three different people to come out. Also, when they sell the program, they can be a little more explicit on the fact that the customer pays $75 to have somebody come out. Then, if an item is replaced, there are other fees that have to be paid that are the connection fees.

    We used American Home Shield for the first time and we didn't know what was covered. We looked at what is supposedly covered and listed like plumbing and pipe. We reached out to AHS and their process of requesting service was pretty easy and straightforward. And the $75 was a reasonable amount to fix something that someone else is going pay $2500 for. It all worked out well. Everyone was really quick to reach out. I was surprised by how quickly it all came together.

    I talked to the one main guy and he was terrific. He was so friendly. He explained what they were doing and what was happening the whole way. They were really respectful about going in. They had to go inside the house and had to go to their car a bunch. They would always be knocking on the door to make sure it was okay to come in. They also kept everything clean and didn't leave any mess in my basement. The guy was able to walk me through how to bleed my radiators and what I have to keep an eye out for. It was a really great experience. To anyone getting a home warranty, American Home Shield a company that in our one use of them, have been really responsive and great.     Pro N Stall came out for a plumbing issue and they did a great job. However, we're having an AC issue and my husband texted me not long ago to indicate that the company will be coming out Friday between noon and 5:00. The switch that they have to fix causes the unit to lose freon. The unit's full of freon but they are going to let the freon out to fix whatever the problem is then charge us $560 to put freon back in. My husband had already looked it up online and said that there was a way to release the freon so that it could be put back into the unit and you wouldn't have the expense of the freon. It's 80 bucks per pound and American Home Shield pays $10 per pound for it. Why are you charging a customer that kind of money when there's a way to drain it out, fix the problem and put it right back in? How many other customers have not looked it up and didn't know that there was a way to do it and they are just charging them?

    You need a warranty for when something breaks. Working with American Home Shield has been fantastic. But there was one technician that I didn't like. I let American Home Shield know about that immediately and they never sent that contractor out again. When my dryer wasn’t working, American Home Shield assigned Sears to my claim.     We had a ceiling fan that wasn't working very well. It was like the light wouldn't turn on even though we had a light bulb replaced. Then sometimes, it just wasn't turning on at all. Certified Electrical Technologies came out came out. But before they came out, we realized that the electrical panel just needed to be restarted. That way, the fan could actually work. But then the light still weren't going on. The tech investigated that and realized it was a huge issue in how it was connected. It could have been a fire hazard. He fixed everything with that. Then he also helped with our smoke alarm because it was super sensitive where it was. He gave us some light troubleshooting advice on how to deal with cooking in our fire alarm. It was a really good experience overall. We paid $75 for him to come out. He came out within two weeks because they were kind of busy. They gave us their first available. It was a pretty seamless process.

    As far as American Home Shield, I would love to be able to not have to be pigeonholed into only being able to request an electrician to come out because sometimes you have multiple issues. It would be nice if it was all one price to be able to have an electrician come, but then also have somebody else that needs to come and look at a plumbing issue, all within that same kind of one fee. I don't really like their pricing model. It'd be nice if I could just pay $100 to have a couple people come out at once versus having to pay $75 here, $50 there.

    Choice Plumbing and Heating replaced a water heater and they were great. On that particular claim, the experience was really pretty easy. We live out of state so that house, at that time, was a rental house. They were fantastic. But I can't say that has always been the case with American Home Shield. When I call American Home Shield, I can always expect at least a half an hour to 45-minute wait. But this last time, they had it set up where there was a callback. Previously, that was not the case.

    We live in Traverse City and American Home Shield has just not worked here at all. A part of the problem is that when I call in, most of the time, I'm getting some kind of phone banks in India and they do not understand what I have to say. I've called in where I've had something scheduled and nobody ever showed up and I have to call again. Then they say that they don't have anybody. It has just been a nightmare.

    American Home Shield saved us about $14,000 in one year of what would have been just all repairs. It allowed us to do upgrades, and those upgrades went into places that needed to be done in the home rather than fixing things that are old and falling apart. We had an air conditioning unit that we were told would be $7,000 to $9,000 to repair. Manufacturers don't make them anymore, there's no part. This was pre-existing, we just sent it out, and they said to wait a month before we submit it, so we did. The guy came out for a $75 service charge, looked at it, and said that he had it in his warehouse, drove back, picked it up, and fixed it. Other providers would just say that they couldn't afford and I would have to shovel out $7,000 to $9,000, and maybe even replace the furnace. These guys did it for 75 bucks. With my recent plumbing claim, Thomas Brothers Plumbing came and addressed the problem as we couldn’t identify it. They were great.

    We called for some leakage at a couple of our pumps and AHS assigned the claim to Expert Pools. They came over here the next day, diagnosed the issues and identified where the leaks were. The guy resolved the issue and answered all of the questions I had regarding the piping and the gaskets that were used. He was very knowledgeable. He definitely educated me on some parts of the pump that I had no idea about. There was a question I had regarding the DE or DF pump which is the main pump on our pool. He kind of tested that as well and made sure everything was functioning even though he wasn’t required to for the claim. He went above and beyond what we asked for. This was the first claim and it was quick. He was in and out within half an hour. The other was the plumbing which is still pending. Someone came out here at the same time and gave us an estimate, and we're gonna go ahead and do the work.

    I have no problem with American Home Shield's contractors. I had an electrical issue and the tech who came was fine. But American Home Shield is outsourcing their work and a lot of the people didn't understand what I was saying. I didn't understand what they're saying too. There was a big cultural barrier. I talked to so many people and I think a lot of them are new. Everyone told me something different. I got disconnected and I got transferred to somewhere where I heard the conversation that we just had replaying to me. I also got transferred to a survey and to the wrong places. I was supposed to be put on hold

    I've called in now maybe 25 times and only three people knew what they were talking about. No one would transfer me to a manager. They all said that they had to take the call. I spoke to two people in Retention that knew what they were doing and they fixed the issue. The third person that knew what she was doing was the one that figured out my account was in the wrong name. She was in Purchasing Electronics.

    When the people that came out couldn't fix the issue, AHS referred me to somebody else. But one day, I waited 50 minutes then I turned around and I had to call and wait again. I waited 30 minutes and I finally got on the phone with this lady. It took me two days to get in contact with the one who said they were gonna refer me to GE. The guy came out and looked at it and said he couldn't repair it. I don’t want to go to the laundromat because it’s cold. She told me she was gonna replace it. We got it delivered on the 17th. But for some reason, GE sent a drum to the house. Who bought this drum? That means there was a waste of money somewhere. I need to know how to send it back because this is a waste of money. But GE was very professional. I've been with AHS for almost 10 years and they've been good to me. But they need to let me know how far a person will come and work to do the repair job.

    Thermostat Mechanical came out for our water heater issue. I have two and they said they got one working, but that one controls the flooring in my garage. The other one that controls the hot water to all of the bathrooms and sinks is not working. They said that they had to order a part and the part should have been in last Monday or Tuesday. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was Thanksgiving week. I called American Home Shield and said that the part's not in. I have six children and with the pandemic, COVID, we couldn't go anywhere to take a shower. I'm not really happy. I haven't had water for over two weeks now. I've called the office and spoke with a rep. I left her numerous messages and she never called back. But the technician was amazing. He's been calling and telling me about the part.

    In the event that there is something that is going to be a long process, there has to be some contingency plan for expediting or overnighting, especially when it's something that's critical. Then I asked if they could install the part if I locate it. They said no and that I would be fully responsible. They should allow me to locate the part and still cover it under the warranty. Another thing is that if it would really take 10 to 14 days to get the part, then just replace the water heater. It can be bought anywhere and there's no delay in that. The technician, upon arrival, said that he had to do a process of elimination for troubleshooting, so he was not even sure if it would fix it. Nevertheless, I am happy with my past experiences with American Home Shield and overall, I would still recommend them.

    The contractor called either the same day or the very next day. I got an appointment. It was very quick service. They were efficient. They came out and reviewed everything. He quickly fixed it. It was fixed that day, and that was it. I’m a happy camper. The other claim was dealing with our water heater. I did the same process of placing the claim. I went online, it was easy. It's always easy.

    However, the company put in the claim saying that it was 100% finished. But it wasn't, and I noticed that happening several times. Because the companies on the other end want to keep up their obligation and meet their obligation to whether to contact the customer within 24 hours, or to handle the issue. They have up to 48 hours. They go ahead and they input if the situation is resolved or they contacted the customer and the customer didn't answer, in order to just update the records and make sure that everything was okay. It wasn't okay. But they finally came out and did the water heater but when they installed the water heater, they did a lot of external damage.

    I told the American Home Shield rep never to send that company out here again for anything that I do. They were like, “We won't.” That company's name is Air Pro Master LLP. It was a couple of times back and forth and I understand that with water heaters, they need to find the right size. But they finally came in and installed it. However, the guy was snippy. He was from a foreign country and didn't speak good English. But he tried to act like he clearly understood what we were saying. I asked him to call back to the company. The company didn't offer the service of installing a drip pan. And because this water heater stands on its own feet, they took our water heater out. The water heater that they took out had a drip pan with it.

    I assume this was gonna come with a drip pan, but it didn't. I said, “Can I get a drip pan or can you give me some time to go get a drip pan?” And they were like, “Well, no.” And then they tried to ignore me. I said, “Well, can you call the office and ask them if you guys have a drip pan or can we get a drip pan?” He was huffy puffy, then he called the office, spoke to them in a language that I can't understand, and then he came back to me annoyed. He said that the office manager said it would be almost $400 for a drip pan. And then they would have to not complete the install. Also, they couldn't get the drip pan today. I said, “I can go get a drip pan.” “Well, no, we can't wait for you to get a drip pan.” It was a big old hassle and a headache with him. He was annoyed by me even asking about that.

    As far as I'm concerned, you’re a water heater company. You should have to offer the service towards repair and it shouldn't be nearly $400 for a drip pan. A drip pan was not very expensive. Because they were here, everything was disconnected. Obviously, you got to go ahead and install it as I was installing out a drip pan.

    Meanwhile, they were standing on my pedestal. You know how some water heaters sit up on a pedestal that is about 18 inches off the ground? That pedestal was made with a metal trim with an outer coating, like that plaster and then they paint it for a smooth finish. He stood on all of that. My house is fairly new. It's a nice finish. And by the time he finished, it's cracked up, the metal is bent, the surface is coming off of it, there are a bit of gashes and scratches from when they would just slide it in, and it's a hot mess. I have to refinish that and make it look new again, or just make it look decent. So, I was not happy with that service and pissed off about the whole attitude and the way it went down.

    And then, they supposedly checked it. A couple of days later, when I was coming to my garage, I smelled gas. There is a gas leak in it. So then, we had to call them back or send somebody else out and of course, the gas leak was fixed, but it was a bit of a rigmarole with that company. And the service was awful. It had nothing to do with American Home Shield. However, their contractors are their reputation. They are as good as their contractors. At the end of the day, I still have to deal with the repercussions of the damage that they did. Nobody is gonna fix that damage for me.

    I had another issue with the dryer. It took seven days to get an appointment. And it goes back to the issue. You go online, you fill it out, immediately you get a text message and an email saying this is who your contractor is going to be. But then, again, it was a big issue with the contractor, and him even getting us on the schedule. At the end of the day, it was seven days later. I spent almost three hours on the phone with American Home Shield. On the sixth day, I was trying to get American Home Shield to get somebody else and do that so I could at least get my situation evaluated.

    American Home Shield needs to understand that their reputation and their service is as good as the contractors they sent out here. I’ve dealt with them for a very long time. Back in the day, my parents had American Home Shield. And then, between my parents, I've dealt with five other warranty companies, and I'm back to American Home Shield. I deal with some real estate, so I've dealt with other warranty companies and I chose American Home Shield for myself. I've got several properties with them at this time.

    If I pay for a service, and you provide a service saying you're going to do something within a certain amount of time, then we expect you to do it. I understand things happen. I understand that things need to be ordered. Those are all okay. But when there’s indecisiveness, and the contractor does not contact you properly, the contractors are putting information in the system, the contractor will say, “Oh, we reached out to the homeowner and we're not able to reach them,” that is a bald-faced lie. You can reach me or the tenant there.

    We tried to call back. The lines are busy all day. Sometimes we call that contractor but there was no answering service. I was like, “Who is this? Is this a company or is it an individual trying to get some side hustle?” That's not what I hired American Home Shield for, to be hired and contracted for a side hustle. And you go and call me back whenever you can. You possibly don't have an answering service, or you don't have a receptionist. You don't have to have a huge company, but you have to be professional. However, I'm not going to run out and abandon American Home Shield at this point in time. If this happens again and it's gonna be a problem, I'm gonna abandon American Home Shield and just try somebody else because I can't go through it on a professional level with not only with myself, but with my tenants.

    There were some things since we moved into this new house. I went to the site, and I was surprised to see that they offered rekeying, so I signed up for that. And rekeying came out, and that was awesome. So, I tried my luck again. I had all this stuff on my side, the knobs that needed help. The gentleman showed up, knocked it out. He was gone in 30 minutes. It was a good process. Some of the things that I needed some help with just were not a part of American Home Shield based on coverage. For example, we have a mini split AC and that's just not covered. But other than that, the stuff that was covered, so far, just the rekey, went just fine.

    In terms of getting a technician out and the technician coming to your home, this is the second claim I've had with American Home Shield since we bought our home in October. Both times, I was contacted within a few hours at most of filing the claim. The technicians were out that day or the next day and they were wonderful. My problem was if there is now something further that American Home Shield needs to take care of, I haven't been able to get the right people on the phone. I'm not getting the information I need from them about the status of the appliance that is being replaced.

    We were having problems with our washing machine and with our dishwasher so we filed the claim, and I heard from Apple Appliances within two hours. They gave me a phone call, said they would be in my area the next day, gave me the time range, and wanted to see if we were going to be home, which we were. They came at the promised time.

    They looked at everything. They were very thorough with their investigation. The dishwasher was fine. There was a way that we were loading it that caused the problem but he checked everything and made sure everything was fine even once he identified that issue. And then there was a problem with the washing machine. The motor died. He told us he checked everything out. He tried re-leveling it. He tried a few different tests, but it was ultimately that it was no longer working and then he told us that he would submit the claim for us to receive a new washing machine. He did a very good job. There wasn't a speck of dust left behind. At one point, he laid out some tools if he needed to check on things. Everything was cleaned up. You wouldn't have known that he was there. Very professional, polite, prompt and efficient. Those were things that were important to us. He was in and out but still very thorough.

    I've always submitted my claims online because it was quicker and easier that way. I didn't like calling in because I didn't know who I was going to be speaking with. I was a little frustrated with American Home Shield for a little bit because it seemed every time I called and had an issue, I talked to somebody over in a different country and I couldn't understand a word they were saying. But then, they've kind of got that straightened out because I haven't had any issues at all in about the last month. Sears came out and they were here within a day and took care of the problem. Two gentlemen from Sears came and they were both very professional and extremely nice. They were very knowledgeable working on the dryer.     We had an issue with the circuit breaker. American Home Shield sent out Illuminate Contracting. They were a little lazy and they were tracking mud inside the house.     We had an issue with the dishwasher. A plastic-handled utensil fell out of the basket and melted on the heating element. The dishwasher was still working fine but we didn't dare run it. We thought that that element had to be replaced. A guy from Superior Appliance Repairs handled it and he was nice. He was able to very carefully chip the thing away. He sat there and picked it up piece-by-piece. Then, he tested everything. We've been using the dishwasher heavily ever since and it's fine.

    But I'm having a huge problem with a current claim with AHS. I called a week ago today for a service call for a toilet that is not flushing. I got my contractor's name, number, and confirmation. I was supposed to hear within two business days but I didn't. I waited for three days. Then, I called back AHS and their rep tried to contact the contractor but was not able to. She said to call her back later, to which I said, "No." I was not going to call her back later, go through the phone tree, and get a new agent. I said she needs to call me back when they've got it straightened out. She tried. And we tried to stay off the phone all day, but she must have hit it when I had an incoming call. She left a message.

    Then, I started all over again with another agent whose name was Gerald. He said that he called a number of contractors and wasn't able to get anyone to come out this week. He's still trying. I also asked him to let me talk to a supervisor, which he said he couldn't do. He was working from home. I've got to call in to get the supervisor. Also, it was quite difficult talking to the representatives whose first language is not English. It was very difficult to get them to listen to what I was saying, to understand it, and to understand how to deal with it. They give their little spiel of whatever they're supposed to say and I just end up shouting at them to listen to what I'm saying. That happened with both of the reps I talked to.

    At this point, I'm really unhappy with AHS. I'm considering whether I need to start looking for a different warranty because I'm really not satisfied. The minute I call for service, they take my credit card and get my money and I pay my monthly fee. I'm holding up my end. But I have gotten no satisfaction, whatsoever, and nothing is timely with this current claim.

    Service Contractors was unbelievable. Charlie, the guy they sent out, was phenomenal. American Home Shield got on the thing quick, so we had heat the very next day and it was great. I did the request one on the computer and got an immediate response by email or text. They said, “This is the people that are going to be calling you, but it's okay for you to call them.” I called Service Contractors and they said, “Yeah, we'll be out tomorrow between 10:00 and 2:00.” It wasn't a complicated issue, but Charlie knocked it out in short order and we were good to go.     There's a drain that's backing up. I alerted American Home Shield about it and then they contacted the other place. They came out to service it and it didn't get fixed. I was about to call American Home Shield as soon as I get some time because I called them on Saturday but nobody ever got back to me. The problem’s not fixed.

    Prior to the techs coming out, they sent a text message and a phone call and then they came and then they couldn't fix it. They sent someone back and the other guy did fix it. Then it backed up again. He never came back out because I just submitted through American Home Shield. They're supposed to come out three times but they came out two times. The first time, the guy couldn't do it. They sent another guy back and the other guy did it. It was fixed for about a week or two and then it backed up again. I just called American Home Shield and started to go about submitting the claim. Then I talked to Air Pro Masters and they said they don't have the tool to do it. So, I have to find a new contractor.

    That was last week and there's water still backing up. Once it hits drywall and baseboard, American Home Shield’s gonna be liable for that. I've been with American Home Shield for 20 plus years off and on in different houses. It's hard to contact anybody down there. A lot of things have not been handled. If I don't pick up the phone and make a two-hour phone call at least to try to get somebody on the phone, it's not going to get fixed. On my plumbing issue, nobody ever called me back like they said they would. Nobody ever checked on it to make sure it was good the first time. It really sucks. All my friends in the service business know. “Oh, you got American Home Shield?” They laugh at me. It’s a known fact in the service industry.

    The heating unit outside started making a lot of noise. Initially, I called a company because I didn't know the protocol for the insurance. They came out, charged me $125, and said the unit needed to be replaced. There was coolant all over and they had shut it off. I called American Home Shield and the rep said they had to look at the unit through their agent so that was another $100. Two young men came out from Jeff City. They said there was nothing wrong with my unit. It was making noise but it was okay. I was very pleased because I felt that they had a lot to lose. They could have come in and said everything needed to be replaced as the other company did. Also, the young man said that I had not lost any of the coolant although it was down a little bit.

    Everything is running okay now. The heating unit outside doesn't seem to make the clanging noise as before. I was very pleased with the company. I would recommend American Home Shield solely because it was my understanding that had my furnace needed to be replaced, it would have been replaced completely. A lot of the places would cover $500. But I was told American Home Shield would replace it entirely and that is worth the premium to me.

    Submitting a claim with American Home Shield is pretty simple. I get them on the phone and they file a claim for me. They contact the repair company and send them out. They usually give us an appointment within 24 hours, which is their policy. We haven't really had too many issues with regards to needed repairs. Also, their rate is pretty reasonable. It only increased slightly over the last five years.

    The last major thing that we had done was two years ago. We were having a problem with the refrigerator. The water line would freeze and we couldn't get any water out of it. The part was obsolete so they weren't able to get the part to fix it and they stepped up and gave us a brand new refrigerator. People say that that's unheard of because they usually just put a band-aid on it. But there were no qualms about it at all. Then, when the door latch on our refrigerator broke, TGM Appliance's tech came out and took it off, repositioned it, and put it back on. It was an easy fix. He was in and out in no time. I really like American Home Shield. They have been fantastic. It gives us peace of mind because we don't have the resources to just go out and replace an appliance if it goes out.

    The dishwasher was not cycling properly. It was not turning off, and it left water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Aurora Appliance Repair came out, worked on it, ordered parts, and Monday brought parts in and fixed it. And then, we didn't run it until today this morning. It didn't work.     Legacy 4 came out for my faucet and the leak under the sink. They fixed the leak under the sink but for the faucet, they said that was going to have to be replaced and they would send in a thing to American Home Shield. They haven't sent that in yet but I think the work they did was really good compared to the reason it was broken. I had a dishwasher installed and the installer from Lowe's caused the leak under my sink. So, I called Lowe's and told them about it. They sent out another plumber who came out and looked at my sink, made the leak worse, and broke my faucet. I was mad enough that the installation department is giving me 75% off not just on my next purchase, but on my next project. But Legacy 4 came out and they were courteous. They showed up on time. They texted me before they were gonna get here. They went to work pretty quickly and got the work done very quickly too. They also cleaned up after themselves.

    This is the second thing that I've had to have replaced. I know that American Home Shield has to check their balances and quality control but they could improve on simplifying the process between getting something broke all the way to getting something fixed. It's not really hard but it's just time-consuming. I had to deal without a dishwasher for two and a half weeks and one of those was through Thanksgiving. That sucked.

    My cooktop broke and three contractors had come out. All three said they couldn't repair it. It needed to be replaced. But I couldn't get anybody from American Home Shield. They would take the call and say they would look into it and call me back within 24 hours. I never got a call back and never got an email. I would have to call and wait on hold for a minimum of an hour at a time until I can get another person to say the same thing. That went on for two months. Finally, I got ahold of the purchasing and they agreed to replace it.

    They sent me the new unit and they said a contractor would call to put it in. The contractor called and said they don't install units. Another month has gone by. In the meantime, when I call the company, they say I have to wait an hour for someone to pick up and then after an hour, it says the wait time is another hour. It's horrible. I've been paying $39 a month for years.

    The shower diverter stopped working. When I would turn it on, water would come out into the bath, but not out of the shower. So, when I would turn the lever, the water would just completely cut out, nothing would go through the shower. American Home Shield sent someone out. He was really great, very friendly and fixed it very quickly. He just dealt with just a washer. He said the washer had popped out of place. He was good about answering questions about it. He put on those little footsie things so he wouldn't track anything in on the carpet or the floor, which I appreciated.

    I sometimes do my claims online and sometimes over the phone. I prefer it on the phone if the wait isn't too long. I’ve never had any problems with technicians who've been here.     In November, our dishwasher kind of smoked and smelled like electric fire. The service people did a great job. They made sure everything happened and they talked to me about it.     American Home Shield is really good and they're providing great services. But the experience really depends on who the service provider is. If the service provider that they are assigning is good, then it's a completely good experience. If the service provider is not, then that is completely messed up. There was a leak on the toilet and I did my claim through a representative over the phone. The folks really helped us. The guys who came were really good and they fixed the problem.

    I reached out to American Home Shield four times this year and three of my experiences were super. But I had a very tough time with one and it was because of the service provider. I let American Home Shield know about that and I hope they are working on it. I'm just being extra cautious now. If I get assigned a service provider, I go check their rating online. If I need to change the service provider, I do so. That is one thing that the consumers have to be very careful before they accept the service. That's what I learned from my experience.

    I got to use American Home Shield probably five times in the last five years and they've been terrific. Recently, there was a stopped up sink in the master bedroom. J & K came out and they're super. I always request them. They're close by, they show up and they do a great job. When I call in and I say J & K Plumbing did the last time, they tell me that's who they're going to use. It’s in their system. For 75 bucks, the issue is gonna get fixed.

    I got American Home Shield like 10 years now. I'm 72 years old and it's like peace of mind. I started using them when I was still working in sales and I traveled a fair amount. I had one of my good friends who'd come in my house and always check on it when I was gone. One time, I was on the road and he said my refrigerator was out. I called American Home Shield and by the time I came home, it was fixed. That was all good. It's more expensive and the price keeps going up but I'm happy with it. It doesn't cover everything but for things like plumbing, I can use it. I got a few bad experiences but that's been several years ago. American Home Shield hasn't been perfect but the nice thing about it is if it doesn't get done right, then you just call. You're not gonna pay anymore. As long as it's not an emergency, you're going to get it done.

    The last two claims that I had with AHS were for the air conditioner. The air conditioner itself was producing cold Freon but the blower motor that circulates air to the house went bad. So even though it was able to produce cold Freon, there was no air movement over the coils to make the air colder or conditioned. The servicemen from All Brands, I requested him. He was stellar. He's one of the best repairmen. This time, there was no delay. But the last time, it was 10 days in the middle of summer because they didn't approve the repair. I caught AHS in a few lies back at the time. I had to buy portable air conditioning units. It cost me about $700 in addition to the repair cost because it took so long. But I still recommend AHS because it's still worth the money.

    We had to call AHS several times and they seem to get the right person and get someone out here pretty quickly. Recently, we had an issue with our hot water heater where the heating elements had corroded. They sent someone out here the next day and the tech was able to fix the problem that day. One time, we also called AHS for our shower. It's been tiled and everything's new but the grout is coming apart. And because we had an issue in another bathroom with a leak, we called and said it was a plumbing problem.

    AHS sent the plumber out and we pay $75 every time someone comes out, which is fine. But when the techs got out here, they were not the ones who could work on the grout. So if we called back on that issue, we had to pay again for someone else. It was a little frustrating because as the homeowner, you don't always know what the fix is always going to be. So it's hard when you have to call then go through that process and be charged again.

    I called American Home Shield to file a claim for my hot water heater that wouldn't come on and I got someone from another country. We could not understand each other so I couldn't get what I want. I wanted the original people that set up the water heater to do the repair and she said she couldn't do that. That was my understanding.

    I liked SDL Plumbing. They're decent people and the tech who came out was great. He did the repair the day he came out. I was pleased with him. But there are other warranty companies that I'm thinking about going with for renewal who could cover my septic tank because AHS doesn't do that anymore. Also, it's sometimes hard to get them. Then, when you get somebody, it's difficult to find who you want. I’d like someone I can understand.

    Submitting a claim online to American Home Shield is very easy and there’s no problem with doing it that way. They don’t wait five days to answer your question. I usually hear from them within 24 hours. The technician from Budget HVAC came and snaked out a drain. He was very professional and did the best of what he came out to do. He wore a mask the entire time and cleaned up whatever it was that he did. I just told my brother about AHS and he signed up yesterday. It’s a great company. They want to help and it's not expensive, which is the good part about it. You get very good quality service for the amount of money that you're paying.     Platinum Heating and Air came and serviced my HVAC system. I've had about four claims on it. This summer, the coil in my HVAC system had to be replaced. After that, it was the blower motor cage, and then the heater was setting off the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. There was something that burned or spilled.

    I usually call the sales rep or text her when I have a claim.     When our toilet wasn't flushing properly, I called American Home Shield and I wanted somebody out right away, but it took a few days.     My situation is my wife and I had been with this company for years. When it started, I could talk to a person and request a specific AHS provider. Now, when I file a claim, I can't do that. I'm dealing with whoever answers the phone for the most part. The problem is, I have issues understanding that claim agent because of their dialect. We've had the same issue for about the last six months to a year. But things are better now that I can actually talk to a live person.

    With my last situation, it wasn't Home Shield's fault. We had to go through two technicians to find somebody that could actually fix the problem. The problem was getting the part. The part is now shipped to Home Shield. In years past, the technician could just find the part locally then take care of the problem. Now, Home Shield orders the part then shifts it to the technician. The technician has to make sure that the part's going to be provided then wait for the part to be shipped. I was out of a refrigerator for almost two months.

    We initially had a home inspection on our house. We have the report that everything was fine and working. We had no problem when we bought the house. But there was a mess up on the paperwork when we closed. I ended up buying the home warranty after we closed because it was supposed to be added. Two weeks after we closed, we moved in. Within 30 days, we started having problems with the water heater. When we turned the propane back on, some of the equipment was not coming back on. We had called the home warranty folks and they sent somebody out. We have two water heaters in our house. One of them heats the water that comes into the faucet while the other one heats the furnace. The first plumber that came out turned off the furnace or he tried to fix one because he thought they were connected. He ended up getting the system back up and running but it went down again.

    We called back and we had another plumber come out. They said that the water heater that heated the water that came into the house was shot and needed to be replaced. That was when we were informed that apparently our account was flagged and that there was a denial on the system. Home Shield was not going to replace anything. We provided them documentation that we had a home inspection that stated nothing was preexisting. We were told that the claim was resolved because we got permission to have the water heater replaced. One of the water heaters was replaced. Because of code requirements, they had to cut some lines and put some new piping in. They had to shut some valves off, which we found out later they basically killed our other water heater which went to the furnace.

    Once it got cold out, we tried to turn the furnace on but it wouldn't come on. We then called the home warranty and they sent out an HVAC specialist. They took one look at the system and said they didn't deal with this type of system. We needed to work with a plumber. We went back to the home warranty people and said, "We want the plumbers that put in the new water heater to come back. Because they cut, changed, and turned the stuff off." They sent that person out. They said that it was a quick fix. It was just the valves that needed to be replaced for the other water heater. It should be back in a day or so. We were very concerned because we were heading into a 30-degree weather. That was going to be a couple of cold nights. We were concerned about not being able to heat the house. We have pets and kids. With COVID, there's no place that we can go to like and friends. We're kind of stuck.

    We started getting the runaround with the plumber. They weren't going to come back. They didn't want the liability. Talking to Home Shield, they were trying to convince the plumber to come back because they are liable because they were the ones that rerouted the system. We started hearing that the claim was being rejected. Everything has to be out of pocket.

    When the water heater was replaced, we paid an additional $800 out of our pocket that Home Shield did not cover because of the code changes. There were upgrades that the warranty wouldn't cover. It took two weeks. We had to pay $600 to have the Sigman company come back to replace the valve so that we can get our furnace working because Home Shield was not covering it after they said that they would and that everything was resolved. We were pinned against the wall because no one would touch the system because somebody else had altered it. I couldn't bring another plumber in because they didn't want to take on the liabilities because Sigman screwed it up.

    Things got very heated. There was an exchange between my husband and the plumbers because they set the appointment then cancelled it. They said they were never coming back to our house again. I called Home Shield and they said no plumbers were available. We were getting referred to attorneys because this is our furnace on a brand new house that they altered and they refused to fix. Home Shield basically backed the plumber and screwed us. Overall, the claim did not go very well. We're very pissed and very disappointed with American Home Shield. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

    We made a claim for our microwave and Andy’s Appliance Repair came out. Placing the claim was the easy part. But I called Wednesday last week about an electrical problem I was having. They told me that Oak Electric was going to take care of the problem. Come Friday, I hadn't heard anything so I called the company to say, “Home Shield’s got you lined up to come look at my electrical problem and I haven't heard from you.” I called four times on Friday and nobody ever answered the phone. I wondered if they went out of business. I kind of let it go and I was going to call American Home Shield today. But about an hour ago, Oak Electric called and asked if they could come on Friday and take a look at the issue. I agreed and that was fine. It's not that it needs to be done right away.

    I also called two weeks ago about a problem I was having. One of my toilets was leaking and American Home Shield sent out Patriot Plumbing. They got ahold of me right away and made an appointment. They came out and were as nice as could be. They've been out before with another problem I had and they were absolutely great. But it's kind of hit and miss. There are probably a lot of different contractors American Home Shield works with and probably 99% of them are good while a couple of them are just “argh.” Overall, American Home Shield was fast and our experience was good. The contractors that I've dealt with were very efficient and knowledgeable in their work.

    I’ve used American Home Shield's service twice and they've been good. The contractors contacted me pretty quickly and it was a pretty fast service, which was a bonus. My most recent claim was for my microwave above my stove. The light would turn on inside when I would start the microwave but it wouldn't heat up. The tech came earlier and was good. He was fast and he didn't make any noise.

    The way I did the claim this time was, I was on the phone with the guy because I had to get a refund. I had scheduled a heater tune-up but I came down with COVID so I had to cancel it. But American Home Shield still charged me 75 bucks for the service so I had to call them to get my refund. I've done a refund with American Home Shield sometime last year and they were pretty quick about it. It was within 7 to 10 days. While I was on the phone with the guy, I scheduled service for the microwave as it had been broken for a couple of months.

    I have been with American Home Shield here for about 20 years. In my home in Dallas, I have had them about 30 some years. The only problem that I had was on a situation at this house in Trinidad. The time before this last time, I had been trying to get someone here to fix this dryer for about six months. When they first came out, the guy told me that I had to stop the vent and that was not covered under my American Home Shield policy. After I spent $300 getting the vent taken out and replaced, I called them and told them that that was done. When they sent another guy, he told me that it was not the element, it was my electricity. So, I paid another 80-something dollars. They sent an electrician out here but there wasn't anything wrong with the electricity. It was still something in the dryer. Then I had to pay him for the service call and that was another 100 and something dollars.

    I just gave up on it because I went back to Dallas and I needed to be here when they came back. When I came back was when I called again about it. It was very nice to have Mr. Appliance. The young man had the part on his truck. He wore a mask and made sure that he explained to me what he was having to do and why he was having to do that. He put an element in quickly and efficiently which is what I needed in the first place before I spent all that money for what American Home Shield didn't cover. I also want to compliment the company because they kept me advised as to when he was coming and how long it would be. The girl called me back the next day and said, "We can come Wednesday instead of Thursday if it's okay." They were very personable. My dryer's working well but that was a terrible situation with American Home Shield. I felt like they should have refunded me at least one of those $80 that I paid them.

    I’ve used American Home Shield in three homes over eight years and they’re good getting back with you. Overall, I’ve had six good experiences and one bad experience. You call them, tell them your problem, and they take $75. Whatever the problem might be, they give you a third-party company and then somebody will call you a day or two later. I liked my dishwasher claim, but two weeks before that, I had a claim for garage door and the guy came out for two minutes. I understand the guy had another business besides that (cleaning buildings, fogging buildings for the COVID). He called his boss and he said, “Oh, no, I can’t fix it. I’ll send you an estimate next week.”

    I called American Home Shield and said, “I'm not paying $75 for a guy to come out for two minutes and do this.” I said, “This guy is ridiculous.” It was a bad deal and American Home Shield said they were gonna refund half of my 75. I've had to get somebody else to do my garage door, which I know that the guy could have done some if he didn't have another business. However, I was a little more upset that American Home Shield didn't refund my money like they said they did.

    Going to American Home Shield's website, describing my problem and scheduling the service was great. It was easy, clear and almost effortless. The technician came out and looked at the problem. He said he needed to get a part and described what was gonna happen. Then, he left. The part was delivered later that day by another person and that was easy-peasy.     I did a claim online with American Home Shield on a Sunday night. I’m not very computer literate and I was able to do it. It was pretty easy. I got an email and a text notifying me that someone was going to notify me on Monday. South Valley Appliance got in contact with me. I got some email and text alerts. That's how I knew that I did a good job on the computer. American Home Shield acted quickly on my claim.

    A gentleman came within that week. When he pulled out the switch and put it back in, he said it was the compressor. He had a piece on hand to test if it was a certain piece. He then let American Home Shield know that my claim needed to go to a different person because he doesn’t do compressors. He can’t handle that because of the restriction on the use of Freon in the state of California. It’s a hazard type of thing.

    That same day, another gentleman came out. He checked things out and said he would get the compressor ordered. The company ordered my compressor that Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I just contacted them two days ago asking where we are at and was told that the compressor still hasn’t come in yet. I’m still waiting for the refrigerator to be repaired. I’m happy with the quickness of American Home Shield getting back to me but not with the service of getting my refrigerator repaired in a timely manner. It’s taking a long time.

    I have submitted all my claims online. I had five claims with Home Shield this year. And every time I've submitted that claim, they have scheduled the work and got what I needed done completed. I've had some issues, so they've worked through them all for me. I had an air conditioning unit go out this summer and they were good about helping resolve the issue. It went three weeks without air conditioning when it was 90 degrees out. But they got the issue resolved, so I can't complain. They have been good to work with. Everything went well.

    With Patriot Plumbing, they had two guys show up. They wore masks. They had to take my toilet apart. There was a clog in the sewer line going out to the main line and they were very helpful. It was a dirty job and they're very professional. Got the job done. And then, they followed up and explained what clogged the line and what they had to take out. And then, this summer, when my air conditioning unit went out, that situation was a coil went bad in the air conditioning unit and they ordered a new coil, and then the technician came back on site.

    It was bigger than just replacing the coil, and they had to order a new unit, and they put that all back in. That was why there was a three-week delay. But they got everything resolved. I've had to use Home Shield more than the normal person over the last year, unfortunately. I had my dishwasher control panel go out, they got that fixed. The temperature thing went out on the oven, they had to replace that. I've paid the $85 each time, and then they had technicians come out and fix it. All professional technicians and local people.

    I would recommend Home Shield to anybody. However, when there is a delay of getting one of the items in your home fixed, they need to figure out how to get that communication back to the customer. I had to go out and buy a $500 portable air conditioning unit because I didn't know how long I would have to wait because of the delay on whatever part that they were trying to find, that whoever was contracted to do it had to get approval through Home Shield and wait to get that approval to purchase the part. If they could improve that, they would own the market. People want things done quickly, right? So, that communication's full circle back on why there's a delay. All these companies that offer the service for homeowners, whoever can get the best communication back during those repair delays, win the day. It would be the top choice for everybody. Other than that, Home Shield has treated me good, so I would stay with them.

    The man who helped, his name was Nick and he was wonderful. He kept me abreast of what was going on. He had to do something that impacts the paint a bit, not his fault, a different size thing. He explained it. He was very helpful. When he finished everything, he explained what he did. However, it has been a little confusing the last few times about the $75 service fee. I just rack it up to COVID. There was a bit of a problem trying to get something resolved, a previous request for some plumbing, and American Home Shield did a good job of resolving. But they weren't quite as communicative. I ended up getting a decorative part that didn't match what I should have had. Had there been a little more communication, that wouldn't have happened, but the work was done.

    Recently, my garbage disposal wasn’t working. I called AHS to submit a claim and it was very easy. The tech that AHS sent said it was plugged up. He was very nice. He explained to me exactly what he did and he was in here 15 minutes. I was very satisfied with that experience. However, when my air conditioner went out, it was an awful experience. The tech that they sent out said it was not normal wear and tear. I told them the unit is up in the loft over my garage. It's not like somebody is up there playing with it. They sent another tech out and the second tech told me he was going to order the part. It was leaking and it wet up my wall. When I called to ask the company if the part was for it, they told me, “No, ‘cause American Home Shield said they weren't going to pay for it because it was not normal wear and tear. There was no part to be ordered.”

    They just kept giving me the runaround. I told them I'm going to call somebody to fix my air conditioning because I'm 80 years old. I cannot be in this house with no air. I called another company and he came out and said that it was all corroded. They pulled it out. I took pictures of it. I was getting no response from American Home Shield so I got an attorney. They told me they had sent them two letters and AHS did not respond. But when a person called me to ask me about my experience and I told them, it was the next week that they called the attorney and told them how much they were willing to pay towards the changing of the air condition. It was resolved.

    The washer was not washing. METRU Appliance Repair came and found out what was wrong with it. The guy was pretty knowledgeable. We were glad to have him come out. American Home Shield is pretty good with getting things fixed. If you got somebody like them, they'll come by and really find out what's wrong with it and fix it. Some people you ask about it tell you one thing and try to charge you too much. Most of the time, it doesn't require all of this but they're trying to tell us that we need it.

    Our furnace crashed and we had someone to come out to visit. It took them like three weeks before they could finally come out and check. So technically, we haven't had a furnace since the middle of October. And it's not expected to get fixed until the 15th of December. So that's quite a long time not to have any heat. Luckily, we live in California, so it's only cold at night. Other than that, the people were very professional. They knew what they were doing and knew exactly what the problem was. They basically warned us not to turn this furnace on because it could blow your house up and gave us all those warnings. American Home Shield has been very helpful. We've had some success with them keeping our house maintained. The claims process works okay. It's electronic, but that's cool. It's hard to actually call and talk to somebody, but you have to leave messages.

However, I check the contract before I submit something to make sure it's something that's covered 'cause I have had a couple of issues where it seemed like something should have been covered and it wasn't.     Golden Appliance was professional, very clean and they wore their masks. They were in and out.     The claims submission with American Home Shield has gotten faster than it used to be with some kind of idea who will be coming. A different group came from what has come before.     During the summer, the unit downstairs stopped working. I called Home Shield and Air Design came over. He came, looked, saw the problem, and he was gone within minutes. He was very polite, premier customer service. When he came in, he had his mask on. It was a part that was needed. They got the part, put it right on and cleared it up. I knew something was wrong because it was so cold in here. It was cold in here than it was outside. But it's working just perfect now. I'm so grateful for that. I couldn't have asked for better service. And then, my doorbell was not working. He came and said something about the wiring in it. Just recently, the bottom part of my refrigerator is not freezing. A part has been ordered for that one. As soon as the part comes, they will come and repair it.

    My microwave made noises one night and I didn't want to touch it again. A day later, a tech named Ariel with AJ Abella Appliance came out and said that there was no noise in there. I then had him look at my fan above as the lid kept falling off. He reordered that for me. That came in within two weeks and Ariel put that up. I also had him check the level of the microwave. When I had work done on my house, the people kind of changed it around a little bit. The microwave is not gonna fall down but it looks like it's leaning a little bit. Ariel assured me of that as well and he was wonderful. If I need anything other than Home Shield, I would call AJ Abella and I'd refer them to anybody because I was really impressed.

    The first time I called to ask about my pool pump, I never could get anybody to answer. That was one particular time I never got through and I just gave up. Also, I was referred to American Home Shield by my friend. We were both supposed to get a $25 Amazon gift card. It was a hassle trying to get 50 bucks so we both gave up on that. They made you go to a different department to write about it or telling us we needed to do this. Those were discouraging about American Home Shield but those were my only issues.     For our plumbing claim with AHS, the tech did awesome with the tub. He was very quick, efficient and everything worked fine. He checked it before he left. He had me check it and everything was good on that. With the toilet claim, the tech didn't do anything. He just recommended that I replace the toilet per se. I told him sometimes it was getting backed up. It wouldn't flush properly. He asked how old the house was. I said it was 11 years old. He said it was probably time for the toilets to be replaced. Other than that, he was professional.

    But I haven't been pleased with American Home Shield overall. When I called them to do the AC, they said that the board may need to be replaced. The tech came out and did that. But the technician that did it didn't complete or he crossed some wires. It still wasn't working. They had to send another technician out there. They said, "he didn't do this and that.” He called the supervisor and he did it correctly and I was fine with that.

    Then I called AHS for the stove and the range. The fan wasn't working, and also the outlets didn’t work and it had sparked and shorted out. They replaced it. But then the same thing went out again so they ended up doing my stove twice. My thing is, if it wasn't working the first time, where I'm calling AHS for the same thing, they should replace the stove. Because the techs coming back out over and over again, it was not doing me good because it was Thanksgiving. They got someone out there in time. But I had to rent a stove because the parts had to be ordered now and the oven wasn't working. It was a big thing. I paid $92 and I have to do a minimum of a month renting a stove. It was just that double fixing is what I don't get. I was looking about changing to someone else.

    I originally put a claim in for my refrigerator. At the very beginning, it was freezing up. If I would have known this, I would have never bought this refrigerator. I had to defrost it every two to three weeks or a month. I called American Home Shield and their people came out the first time. They did something and left. It worked about four or five weeks then I had to call him back because it started to freeze up again.

    The second time he came out, they did something. They removed the line and he fixed that problem from the refrigerator freezing up. However, the freezing-up problem transferred from the refrigerator over to the icemaker. I called again and it cost me another 100 bucks. I don't think I should keep paying 100 bucks deductible when the problem was never rectified from the very beginning. All they did was move the problem from the refrigerator over to the icemaker and it’s still freezing up to where it's not making ice. The problem was never rectified. If I keep paying 100 bucks, I might as well go and buy a new refrigerator and don’t call American Home Shield to try to fix it.

    When I cut the faucet on, the water would come out slow. I called Home Shield, I told them what my problem was and they said, “A contractor will get in touch with you.” They called me, set up an appointment, and they came out to fix it. The repair guy screwed a little piece off the faucet and took the strainer out, and the water flowed easily. He did a good job. The trouble was simple, but I didn't know. It made me feel embarrassed. It's something that I could have dealt with right then. If it's something big like a heater or an AC though, I’d like to see a contractor come out a lot sooner. Besides that, everybody should have a home warranty because you never know when something’ll go wrong. You might not have all the funds to pay for the contractor to come up.

    I got two claims and we had a disagreement on the first one. But I will let discretion be the better part of valor. It's a matter of wording, whether an air conditioner is a through-wall or window unit. Home Shield's contention was if it is a through-wall or window and can be mounted in a window, then it's a window. The fact that it's mounted through-wall doesn't count. So I said, "Okay. Well, whatever."

    Our recent problem was we got a 50-gallon tank and two people live in this house. And it got to where one person couldn't take a shower without running out of hot water. The techs came out and looked at it. I knew ahead of time they were coming. I knew their names and all that stuff. The tech was here in a day. Excellent individual. They caught two issues. This is a 12-year-old hot water heater. They found the lower thermostat wasn't functioning like they thought it would. So, they replaced the thermostat. It helped but it's getting close to the end of the line on it. We understand that. But they couldn't replace the heater because they could fix it. That's what they said. So, they fixed it. You can get in there and take a shower. If you hurry, you won't run out of hot water.

    It's been a rash of issues with this home and our experience with American Home Shield has been fantastic at times. The hot water heater began to leak and the claim was handled very well. Our only expense was they had to add something to bring the water heater up to code. But we had an oven and a refrigerator issue and those were less than pleasant experiences. For the oven, they found a part for it and fixed it. We're happy with the oven now, although it seems like it took a while.

    The biggest issue was the refrigerator. It needed a new control board but they don't make them anymore. It seemed like six weeks of back and forth and waiting on hold and getting transferred to the wrong departments. It was maddening. They offered $300 just to have them get a new refrigerator. But that was pennies on the dollar. They said they can come pull the control board and send it off and that'd be 7 to 10 days. It's been about two weeks and still nothing. I was talking to the repairman and he said that's laughable that American Home Shield said it'd take that time.

    Every customer service agent I've spoken with has been professional and polite. They knew I was frustrated and they kept their cool the whole time. I've been very impressed with that. But what is extremely frustrating is when I ask to talk to a supervisor, I almost never get a callback. Also, they said that because I'll be without a refrigerator for a period of time, I can have $125 credit to go buy a minifridge. I told them I found this used refrigerator for $100 and I've already rented a U-Haul trailer. I asked if I could buy it and after a little while, the rep said the supervisor said yes. I also asked for that to be put in the notes.

    I took the U-Haul receipt that this private party gave me for the refrigerator and AHS said I can only buy a new minifridge. I tried to call and speak to a supervisor but the rep said no. I also asked him to read some of the notes and he couldn't find it. I'm out 125 bucks because what was told to me is not what American Home Shield decided to do.

    The first plumbing company that AHS assigned to our claim never got back to us. My wife called them multiple times. But the second company was wonderful to work with. They set up a time frame with me and I told them my wife and I are both at work during that time. They said they would give us a courtesy call so we could leave work early and get back to the house. They set all that up for us and they came out, identified the problem with the T trap being disconnected, and got that fixed right away. Then, they identified the problems with the faucet that they replaced and came back out as soon as they got the parts in and got those replaced for us. They did a weekend call for us to install the faucet and they were very pleasant people. Now, I have no leaks and the new faucet works great.

    My wife likes the claims process most of the time. Sometimes when she calls in, she doesn't get to speak to a person and the automated system is kind of clunky, so she can't give a good description of what's going on. But whenever she gets to speak to a person, she says it's great to get to talk to somebody and she can better explain the issue. Also, it's a hit or miss with some of the contractors that have been referenced to us. Some contractors have shown up and some won't even return our phone calls. I'd like to not see them put back on the list because we kind of get a runaround from them. Other than that, we've been happy with everything with American Home Shield. We've had quite a few service calls and they get it taken care of every time. I've always bragged to my friends about how they need to get a homeowner's warranty and told them about all the things that AHS has done for us.

    American Home Shield has been great. However, when stuff breaks, if you constantly have to keep calling them to come out and it may be the same thing that's constantly breaking or various things in there that's breaking, why don't they just replace it? We had an issue with our air condition. For five years, we were calling them out several times a year, and they never replaced our unit. We would be days without our air condition, and it was our compressor that was going out. They would continually want to repair it knowing that they were already called out two times earlier in the season for the same thing. It cost us every time someone came out. We ended up paying out of pocket to have our air condition and our heating system replaced.

    Also, for certain things that could go wrong in your home, it would be good if American Home Shield has someone that they could contract with seven days a week, 24 hours a day, such as drain and plumbing, things like that where the damage being caused to your home is active. Depending on what you call them for, it may not be a priority or they may not contract with companies that could come out the same day. For instance, when we had a leak in our house and water was coming from our ceiling, we explained to them what the damage was. They tried to find someone to come out on a Sunday, but they don't have contracts with people who come out seven days a week for certain things. We had to wait till the next business day. Sometimes, we still have to wait to get on the contractor list, whoever they send us to. As a consumer, I will have to call American Home Shield to follow up.

    When we had a water leak from our refrigerator, I initially did the request online. Once it was set up, I waited for a contractor, and then I called. We had to have someone come out very quickly because we were having a leak and the ceiling fell. American Home Shield got someone else the very next day. Once they called A 3 Aces, they were able to get out the same day. For them to be able to put us into their schedule, I appreciated that. The gentleman came out and he fixed the leak the first time, but there was definitely a language barrier. He had a difficult time understanding what my husband was saying. Besides that, he did his job and he was pleasant.

    We still had a leak in another part though. The part that was replaced malfunctioned and we had to have him come back out. When we called him, he immediately came out and repaired it. All in all, I don't think that American Home Shield sucks, but my husband says they do. With him, if you don't do something the right way, and if you come back out and it’s the same way, he disregards with it. All of our experiences have not been bad. I would say some of the major things, especially with our air condition, that was a big one for us. I paid for insurance, but American Home Shield didn't cover that.

    In the past, my garage door stopped working and I was locked in the garage. I couldn’t get out because I couldn’t lift the garage door. It was a solid one. I didn’t have time and I needed to get out. American Home Shield couldn't get somebody out immediately so I had to fix it on my own and they wouldn’t reimburse me to have it fixed. It cost me a new garage door opener so I was a little bit upset about that. This time, I put the filter in wrong on my icemaker and the tech had to pull the filter out.     The icemaker in my refrigerator wasn't making ice. My husband did a claim to American Home Shield by phone. They gave us a date as to when to expect someone out. A tech came and did his job and left. He was very knowledgeable about the job and the product. He was great. The icemaker is working well now.     I reached out to AHS online and their claims process was pretty easy. I signed in to the website and answered questions about what it was that I wanted. Then, they reached out and had someone come up to my house to look at what was wrong. I had two visits from the techs. The first time, they were looking at both the washing machine and the dishwasher because I had issues with both of them. They were professional, stayed six feet apart, and wore masks.

    But they closed out the ticket even though the dishwasher didn't get repaired. So they reopened it and sent someone again. And he was very nice and very professional. He came in and looked again. Then he ordered a part and came back a few weeks later to replace it. All in all, having AHS has been convenient, but it takes a long time to get anything done. For my last claim, it was two months between when I put in the request and when everything got fixed, which was a long time to be without the appliances. But everything's fixed now and I'm very happy.

    Everybody should do AHS. I got a lot of homeowners friends and they're having so many problems. I was with a whole other company that gave me problems too but I didn’t get any of that from AHS. I’m glad I switched companies. Recently, my stove went out. I needed an igniter and they came out and put my igniter back. I just paid $100 and that was it. The guy that came out had the piece all ready. He wasted no time. He did my stove and put it back to normal. I'm happy with him and I'm happy with the program. The process was simple.     I like AHS and the warranty is well worth it. If my dishwasher needs a repair on it, someone's come out Monday. For a first time homeowner, it's a great way if you don't have the money to replace something. It helps out and gives you that trust that the issue can be taken care of for you. Recently, I noticed that there was a bubble in my shingles and my roof was leaking. I submitted a claim and the techs came out the next day. They looked at it then they came out explaining what the issue was, which I was not used to. They were able to get the bubble back down and they readjusted the shingles for me, so there wouldn't be a leak anymore on the inside.

    They also told me that my roof, where the wood is, is most likely compromised. So, I would have to fix that in the springtime. Plus, they said that the home warranty wouldn't cover it, which is understandable because it's something different. They were really nice guys and they were very courteous. I would hire them in the future if need be.

    The dishwasher wasn't working correctly. National came over and checked it out. The tech fixed something, but that didn't quite take care of the problem. So, he determined that it needed a new front display. They ordered it, and they kept me up to date as well as I get emails from AHS as well. And then, when it finally came in, the tech texted me and said, "Oh, they accidentally sent the wrong color. Do you want it? To keep it?" Because he ordered white, which is our dishwasher, and it came in black.

    And then, I asked him if he can send me a picture so I could think about it because it's rather inconvenient not to have a dishwasher. And we thought with the pandemic, if there was another shutdown, we might be without it. So, he sent us pictures and gave us a bit to think about it. And we said, "Yeah, you know what, it actually goes with the kitchen because our fridge has kind of black panels and it's white." We figured it would look nice and they said, "Okay." Also, we asked another question and they gave us a quote on that too, which was very nice. And then, he set up an appointment. It took him 45 minutes. It was the same tech with the first time. He was very professional and pleasant. I had a very good experience.

    Sometimes, I would rather deal with a person, so I usually call in and the phone waits are a little long, but that's the only thing. Other than that, we're very happy. We had two claims last year and we're very happy with all AHS' techs. They are very professional and they keep you up to date. They call before they come. I'm very pleased with the service and the technicians.

    One time, we had an electrical issue. AHS sent a service tech and we used them afterwards for things that was not related to our contract, so it would not have been covered. But the guy is so great. He's a young man and he's really good at what he's doing. He lives down the street. He just has a knack. It didn't take him long to troubleshoot. He finds out what the problem is quickly, fixes it and it's very reasonable. And he has a year warranty if he does any work, so we're very pleased with him overall.

    The people that I talked to are very knowledgeable. The response time is quick. I'm very happy and we're planning on renewing AHS next year when the time comes for that. We have the seven store upgrade with AHS that made it a little more expensive, but it's worth it. Also, last year at renewal, we decided to go with the electronics coverage as well.

    The claim experience with American Home Shield was easy and I did a claim online with the login. Somebody called right away and the service people came out that next day. The problem was the AC was not turning off from the thermostat. It had to reach a temperature. It would just keep going, if it was hot or a cold. So, if the heater’s on, it would be 80 degrees inside, or the AC was on, it would be 60 inside. Now, it's not warming up. It’s 60 in the house even though the heater’s on. But so far, everything's good. I made another claim for them to come back out, and they are going to be here today. I feel like the turnaround time is good.

    The service guy was nice. He was here before I even made it home. Then he was helpful and he was telling me he was going to go check this. He tested things and found a problem, but there was something else besides what he found still causing an issue. He was polite and professional. American Home Shield is recommended. I’m a new customer, but so far, I'm not having any issues at all and everything has gone smoothly.

    I like the service that I've been getting, so I'm happy with American Home Shield. I put in a request and it's usually 24 to 48 hours, and I get a response back. It's pleasant. Other than a couple little glitches, they're very good and I've even told other people about them. I had an electrical issue and I was told Sears was coming out, but they didn't. They never even told me they weren't coming out. I called, made a complaint and they came out a couple of days later.

    At another time, American Home Shield showed me the offer about getting my dryer trap cleaned by Porch. I went for them and they never showed up. I called them several times and they said, "Oh." They keep putting me off. I asked for them to come out and they keep rescheduling. That's been since September and they still haven't showed up. We rescheduled all the way to December 19. Why would I wait that long to have my dryer trap cleaned?

    For our recent claim with AHS, I had outlets along the wall that were not working. It was a heat and air conditioning company that they sent out first and it didn't work out so well. So they sent a heat and air conditioning company out first. That guy spent about three hours there and he couldn't figure it out. So then, they sent a young guy out. He came out a couple of days later and he stayed until he fixed it. He did a great job. So far, submitting a claim with AHS has been easy. I just get online and pay my co-pay. Usually, within a couple of hours, I get an email saying somebody's gonna contact me. We used it twice and I haven't had an issue either time. They've taken care of all my issues.

    Our house got hot so we made a claim for our AC online and that was easy to do. It was the Thanksgiving weekend so nobody came out Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.     The burner was not turning on and one of our two electric furnace things wasn't turning on. AHS sent out a tech and he was there early, which was kind of nice. He checked everything out and figured out the problem pretty quickly. He was able to fix the issues quickly as well, so I was happy with them. I had another claim for the other air conditioner that needed a new motor and the techs came out for that one, too. Then, we had a plug that blew and the guy came out and replaced the outlet.

    Submitting claims with AHS has been easy. I went online and in all three claims, they responded quickly and we had the person assigned. The electric guy was excellent and quick. But the first contractor who sent out a tech to replace the motor on the other air conditioner was not a great company. I talked to AHS about it and they said we didn't have to go with them. They gave us an allotment and we worked with somebody else. Other than that, things have been good with AHS.

    I called for my bathroom plumbing recently and the worker who came out was excellent. He did everything. He explained everything, ordered the part and everything was done. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield, except the price. I've told three other people to call and they did. There are also four members in my family who have the home warranty and they're all happy. Submitting a claim has been easier over the years as well, but personally, their price has gone up so much. From 49.99, now it's 62 something monthly. It is a lot. That's one of the major issues that I always have.

    American Home Shield should give people a break because people don't call somebody every month to fix something. It's the same with insurance. You might pay years and years and not visit the doctor, but you have to have it. I understand that, but it has to be reasonable. Before, I never complained and every month, I would pay, but with COVID, it's terrible times. Employment has stopped. My husband and I are only working part time. We're having a very difficult time and I would hate to shop around, but I'm starting to think that I have to.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is a super easy process. I put it on the phone and they sent me an email with the contractor and the time. A contractor called me the next day, I got scheduled, and it was over and done within 72 hours. The oven was not working and the young man came out and fixed it straight away. With their phone system though, you talk to a computer and not a human being. So, that's always frustrating. But in today's digital world, that's just the way it is. It’d be nice if you could speak to a human but I understand why they do it the way they do it. It works fine. AHS is a good company. They do what they say they're gonna do and we've had nothing but good experience in keeping them for 20 years.

    We just moved in and the HVAC was really dirty. You could tell that the condenser outside hadn't been serviced in a very long time. I wanted to make sure that a professional looked at the unit. All the coils were filthy and I could clean them myself, but I wasn't sure how the pressure was. It’s a new home, so we wanted to make sure it was all in good shape. The heater will be kicked on a lot during the winter and in the summer, the AC, so I wanted to make sure all the lines were good. I filled up the service request online and it was easy. I like that I didn't have to make my account first. I just put the zip code in that brought up my policy, and then I checked off a box, and clicked submit. It said, “In the next 24 hours, someone will reach out.”.

    The next day, Absolute Refrigeration gave me a call and said they would be there that afternoon. When they came out, they hosed everything off and cleaned it all out. The pressure was good, and all the hoses were good. They said everything was in good shape. The unit wasn't performing bad before they came out, but when we bought the house, my home inspection recommended having it cleaned. I figured I better have it serviced all the way. So far, American Home Shield has been great.

Home Shield offered the service to have the heating and air condition serviced once a year. I noticed a couple of days ago that the heater was hot when it was running, but I thought that was normal. The service people told me the date that they would be coming out and they came that day. They came twice because they checked out the problem and realized that they needed to order a part.     I like American Home Shield's service. When we're having an issue with the house, we just call in, get an order, and the repair guy comes and fixes the problem. Recently, the water wasn't draining properly from the sink in the kitchen, so I thought it was a back-up over time because we had our house for about 14 years and never had an issue with the kitchen drain with the water going out. But the sump pump, since we got an island, helps control the airflow to push the water out and that ended up going bad. So, the tech had to replace that and it started working. He's the only one that ever comes out and I like the guy. The claims submission process of AHS is also outstanding. For this claim, my wife called the 1-800 number and created the job through that. Then, the tech was dispatched the next business day.

    I like doing stuff over the internet. It takes forever to do claims over the phone, but I'm under the impression if you do it over the internet, it's quick and easy. With my heating, I just had to call American Home Shield about it, and the company that came was great. They were in and out. The noise was driving me bonkers and I was scared that it was going out, but it wasn't. It was just two little screws that this blonde couldn't figure out. The technician figured it out quick and that went great. More or less, I had to pay $75 just for a couple of screws to be tightened and it is what it is.

    I was with American Home Shield for a long time when I bought my first house in '06, but when I moved in this house, I was with American Choice. I transferred it back to American Home Shield and I'm upset that I did for the simple fact my double oven went out. They should have covered it and they didn't. That's why I bought the warranty.

    Not to be rude, but they didn't even do anything. I ran a daycare inside the home. I stressed that to them. I didn't have a double oven for two months, and then I had to go out and buy it, have it installed and have the other one removed. They only gave me 1,604, and it cost me $2,700. I showed them the receipt. I also showed them that that's the cheapest one American makes because I had to get the cheapest one because I was out $800-some out of my own pocket.

    We love AHS. They are very professional and the people that they send out do a thorough job. They also meet our expectations, which we set high because we're true believers that if you're going to do something, you do it right the first time. As a matter of fact, I'm having electricians come out this week. We also just sold our house, we're moving down to southern Ohio, and we want AHS to be our home warranty there. We had a home inspector come and he had written up everything under the sun that didn't need to be done, but we still had checked out. So last week, we had a plumber come out and they tightened and sealed a toilet for us. They did caulking as well and they checked underneath the faucets for us to make sure there were no leaks. They were in and out of here, plus they wore masks and kept distance. I would recommend AHS to anybody. Their fees are a little higher but we pay the service is really good and we want the full coverage.

    Home Shield is very good and they check the problem. It's also very easy making a service request with them. I made one for my washing machine. The first technician that came didn't find out what was wrong with the washing machine. He was scared to take it apart and walked away. One week later, I had the same problem again. I call back and was sent a good technician. This second guy figured out what's wrong with the washing machine. He ordered a part then he fixed the washing machine a week later. He was very good.

    My electrical safety switch wasn't working. The guy from RJ Wiggins came out and fixed it and got all my outlets back to work because it rendered my outlets useless.     We were having trouble with our lights flickering in a couple of spots in the house. The repair person came in and he was very courteous. He was a good guy. He addressed the issue right away, figured out we needed some new switches put in, and he did it quickly. I had a very good experience.

    We had a stoppage in one bathroom and the kitchen. The tech who came was early. He was very professional and he had his mask on. Everything was good with him and the company. Everything was rectified and everything is working in the end. I filed a claim before with American Home Shield and it took several days. But this time, I put it in the claim in the wee hour in the morning and early that morning, they responded and somebody would come out. I like that about Joy Plumbing.

    Recently, A, R came out and fixed my furnace. The whole problem stemmed from the original contractor that came out here and fixed our AC unit earlier in the year. They replaced the main unit and they had to put a coil on the inside piece in my basement, which is where the furnace is. My heating unit kept blowing fuses and the company that fixed the AC was called out again. They came and replaced the little fuse, and it started working, but their solution was to hand me a handful of fuses and said, "If it does it again, just replace the fuse." At the time, we were getting ready to turn the AC on, so it didn't ever happen again.

    When we went to turn the heater on many weeks ago, the heat wouldn't come on. It blew a fuse again, so I went down and pulled the fuse out, stuck another fuse in, and it did it again. It wouldn't ever stop. The unit kept blowing the fuse. When I called it back in to American Home Shield, I told them specifically to not send out that original contractor back here because we've had problems with them. They've worked on our house for the last two years and every time they showed up, something else happened or broke. American Home Shield said okay and didn't push back on it.

    They sent the A, R guys out to see what was wrong with my furnace and the guy ended up telling me it was wired back up wrong when the other contractor put the AC in. Evidently, two wires were swapped and when it kicked the heat on, it would blow the fuse. Once the A, R guy figured out what the other contractor had done, he fixed the problem, and so far, we've not had any problems with it. All in all, American Home Shield sent me another contractor that was knowledgeable enough to find the problem that was there, and they fixed it from the other contractor. I'm pleased with what they did. The only problem I have with American Home Shield is not being able to get in touch with somebody that can make decisions on the phone.

    Every time I call, I tell the people I talk to on the phone the problem and then somebody has to call me back. This is stemming from the fact that I've had problems with that other contractor. They supposedly came out and fixed the problem under whatever warranty claim it was and then I'd have to call back again and have to start explaining, “I've already paid for this and they didn't fix it.” It takes forever to get to a real person that can make a decision, but other than that, I don’t have any problems. American Home Shield has been great and I've kept my service for three years now.
