The first issue I had with the well pump was for a valve that the well inspector turned and we had Perry's Pump Repair come out. They turned that for me and they were on their way. It was pretty pleasing. I also had them come out for the foundation and the tech was really relaxed about everything. He was very upfront and honest. But this recent experience threw me off because the tech was very confusing. The well pump kept shutting off and Perry's Pump Repair had a guy come out. He was telling my girlfriend that it could have been an armadillo that dug into it or It could be the motor. Then when I talked to him, he said that it was wear-and-tear in the casing. The tech ultimately decided I needed a new well pump and was condescending in his tone.
I had my buddy come out. He’s an electrician. He said that we didn't have a hole in our casing at all because it wouldn't be holding pressure. He showed me everything. His guess would be the motor and that it was probably an electrical issue. I actually suggested the motor issue to Perry’s but the tech said that it could be multiple things. But he didn't even check it. Also, my girlfriend told me that he electrocuted himself three times when he was here, so he was not very experienced with that and he just decided not to do it.
When I transferred the claim to an electrician, I talked to American Home Shield about how condescending and difficult Perry's were. Not only was Perry's condescending and saying they wouldn't really fix the problem, they essentially were telling American Home Shield that a new claim had to be opened even though the problem hadn't been fixed. So they were stepping on my toes a bit too. But American Home Shield got it resolved. They didn't sit there and tell me I was wrong. I like American Home Shield but I don't think I'm gonna go with Perry's anymore. They were not very consumer-friendly. I trusted American Home Shield to send out the best person and the last company wasn't that. Other than that, A home warranty is very important to have in a house and I absolutely recommend the service.

Walston Mechanical came out to do plumbing work and they were very professional and very fast. They knew what the problem was when they got here. They took the old disposal out and put a new one in. Also, they had masks on. It was wonderful. AHS is a great company and they're worth every penny we spend every month.

The overflow drain PVC pipe had broken. On the AHS website, I was able to click on “other” then put that particular problem on there but AHS could have more options to choose from. I would have also liked that to be a little more user-friendly. But the overall use of the website itself was great. There were no issues getting on or getting to where I needed to go as far as navigation. Also, their response to my claim was right on time so it was a very good experience.
Once Fast Response got in touch with me, we scheduled the appointment. The gentleman, Jason, came out, and he was marvelous. I love his professionalism and his overall courtesy. He was there when he said he was gonna be there. He did what he said he was gonna do. After that, he explained again what he did and why he did it. It was a very friendly encounter. I'm very well satisfied with him.

My recent claim to American Home Shield was a dishwasher repair. On their site, submitting the claim was fine. I had a lot of troubles with the various contractors. We ended up having to have two different contractors out over a period of almost two months. The first contractor replaced two parts at two different times. It still didn’t work. They argued that they worked when they left, which, they didn't stay to test it. So, then they sent another contractor who said that one of the parts that they replaced didn't get attached properly. So, they attached it and it seems to work when they left. However, after we ran it a few times, we found that it wasn't cleaning the dishes on the top rack.
They came back out and they replaced the part that was not attached properly. After a couple of trips out, they were able to get the part, and get it installed. It worked. The whole thing doesn't work as well as it did before. We had trouble back in September, but it does work again. It's frustrating, but it's technically working, it's just not working very well. Usually, I have a pretty good experience with Home Shield itself. If I have trouble, it’s usually with the contractors.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The washer made a god awful noise and it would not wash any clothes. The guy came out and he was very good and personable. He took it all apart, tried this and that part in it, but nothing worked. He said it was the transmission. So, the washer was no good at all. I talked the lady at Home Shield and she said that I could either wait until the 29th for Whirlpool to get more washers that were similar to mine, or buy one and then they would reimburse me. I chose to wait until the 29th but she sent me a text saying that I said that I would buy one and be reimbursed. They should listen to me. I didn't choose to buy the part and then have the money sent to me 10 to 15 days later. I chose to wait until the 29th. Other than that, after I report anything, normally the next day I get someone out. Also, the contractors are usually right on time, very professional, and quickly repaired.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. We had trouble with our garbage disposal. We called AHS and we had to pay for it. The techs just turned something underneath the garbage disposal and got it to working. But about three weeks later, it went out again. I told the tech the second time that he came out, that it's been doing it. It went out again yesterday. So it goes out every week or two, and I don’t want anybody coming here and fixing it, and then we have to pay another $60. We don’t wanna pay again for techs to come out. We want a new garbage disposal. But the tech was very nice. He called his boss to see if they could get us a new one. But since he got it started, his boss said, “No, you got it started. It's working. We can't get them a new one.” The garbage disposal still doesn't work. If we have to pay a fee again, then I'm not gonna pay it. I’ll just go and buy the garbage disposal and have a friend or somebody to put it in.
When our garage door quit working, the tech said that I had to pay him $225 and that American Home Shield would pay them and then they would pay me back. But it took almost two months before I got my money back. So that was not very good. You shouldn't have to wait that long on your money. If the garage door people were to send American Shield the right thing, then American Shield should call him and say, "You're not sending me the right thing. You're maybe sending me just the invoice. I wanna know what was wrong with the garage door.” After about three calls, they told me what they were supposed to do. I had to pay the tech before he would even fix the garage door. But he was nice, so that was good. He fixed it and it’s still working.

I had two appliances with issues. One is my washer that would not spin. The gentleman who came out seemed very knowledgeable of what was going on. I had a leak under my refrigerator. I'm not sure of the amount of time he stayed, but it was very short. He told us what we needed. He said he had to order some supplies, and one would come back before the other. But luckily, they both came back around the same time within a few days. We scheduled an appointment. Everything went smoothly. I was very pleased with the results of what happened and how quickly it was done.
I called the claim in, and everything was very simple. That was the best part because I couldn't find my contract. It was very smooth. We went on the American Home Shield site. I just put in some personal information. Everything came up. I was able to call them and give them my information. It was very user-friendly. Most of the time, you'll be put through a whole lot, but this was very simple. They did a wonderful job. Everything was smooth through both, American Home Shield and the contractor. American Mechanical came out to the property for the faucet and the guy said that there was a seal that was leaking so he had to replace the faucet. He replaced it with a burnished nickel and that didn't match the rest of the house. I have chrome. Also, it continued to leak so I called and I was told by AHS to ask for a senior tech to come out. A different guy came out and he saw it dripping so he tightened it, said it was done, and that it was fixed. But it continued to leak.
I called AHS again and they sent out the same guy who originally came out. He replaced the faucet back to chrome and he said he had to replace this part to the hot water line. Then, because it wouldn't tighten anymore even though he says he put sealant on it, he had to do a cut. He had to saw that part off and then put a metal piece on instead. Since then, it's been perfectly fine. I was dissatisfied because it took three times for them to come out but the guy was very polite, mannerly, and respectful. Also, there was this one time, I had a problem with my garbage disposal. I called AHS and Carl's Plumbing came out. Their guy was very good. He got his work done right away and he did it within a short period of time.

I called out for a leak on an outside faucet and it was fixed professionally that day. It’s still not leaking, so I'm glad about that. Then, there were two other leaks in my bathroom that the plumber took a look at. He saw that one was definitely leaking but the other one, at that time, wasn’t leaking enough. It was an intermittent leak so it leaks sometimes and other times, it doesn't. And because he didn’t see it, he didn't think there was a problem. So, that didn't get fixed.
The plumber came back three days later for the other sink after he received the part and replaced it. It was all professionally done. There were no issues with the work that he did. It was just that one piece that he should have replaced. But he did what he had to do. He was clean. He made sure that when he was working under my sink, he took everything out, which I should have done myself, and put everything back the way it was. It was probably neater than the way I had it. He put on a little bootie on his boots when he came in the house, so I had no problems there.
I recommend American Home Shield to friends but there's just one hang up that I have. American Home Shield had that as resolved but it's not resolved on my end. I had a washing machine that broke. Somebody came out, took a look at it and marked it off as a total loss. They weren't going to get a replacement washer so I had to get one. They told me that they were gonna cover a part of the cost and I haven't seen that check. It was supposed to be done with an outside agency. Other than that, American Home Shield is great.

My experience with American Home Shield was all right. The people who sold the house had the AHS warranty. They paid for it for a year so we continued the coverage that they had. I figured that it covered everything because we were told AHS covers water heater, water leaks, plumbing, heating, air, and all that kind of stuff. I had an emergency at my house and I thought it was a water heater. But Mr. Rooter said it wasn't the water heater that was leaking. It was the plumbing and broken pipes. AHS didn’t cover the drainage, the removal, and putting the water heater back. The service wound up costing me $325 plus the 75. That kind of put a crunch in my pocketbook but I had to pay because it has to be done.
We worked with AHS to go and do the drains. They were excellent. It’s just that I was surprised that something wasn't covered. I would have liked that they explained a little bit better that certain items weren't covered. Also, we as homeowners can’t diagnose what exactly is wrong at our house. I had no idea that the problem was not the water heater because water was coming from the water heater and flooding the hall. Maybe AHS could put it more clearly on the app that what we think might be the problem may not be what the actual problem is.

My recent issue was a hot water heater. I called and the contractor called that same day, and then came the next day. The day before, it was the plumbing man out there, and I thought I wasn't getting hot water. He must have cut the water and he didn't know it. So, the tech didn't have to do anything. He just turned the water back on, and then waited about 45 minutes to make sure that was the issue. Sometimes AHS sends people that don't do good. But I haven't had people come and they weren't good. This man was excellent.

AHS is very responsive and easy to deal with. They do have different plans that you can choose from. If you're just looking for appliance coverage, they have a policy just for that. You can combine certain things you want coverage for so that's what I liked. Also, the reason I went with them specifically was because of the deductible. The deductible in other places was higher. AHS's was reasonable for the coverage. They have limitations on how much they cover. If my refrigerator had something that was more serious, they covered a lot more if they replaced it. Other companies go up to maybe $2,000 max, where AHS went up to 3,000 for the same thing. I did like that. You're already putting money monthly into the warranty so if they can replace it if they can’t fix it, that works really well.
Recently, my refrigerator wasn't making ice anymore and Sears replaced the icemaker. Now, it works fine. The process with AHS is very simple. You just go and do it online. You don't even have to call them. You just state what the problem is. In this case, they replied within a couple of hours. They already had someone and they sent them out the next day. It was cool considering the covid situation.

We were staying with my mother for a little while and using the second bedroom in the home. We noticed that there was water coming in on the carpet and the carpet was just soaked. But there was no visible leak that we could find. We figured that we should stop using the shower. We dried it up as much as we could then wanted to find out where the leak was coming from. I did a claim online then received calls. It was very fast and the process was easy. American Home Shield was very responsive. We felt very good about it but not with the actual outcome.
The service people who came didn't do any repairs. That was the disappointing part. The guy said we needed to put caulk around the edge of the shower. It's one of those pre-formed shower enclosures. Where the wall met the base of the unit and when you push on it, you could see that the caulking had come loose or had separated. He was thinking that the water was coming from the wall then dripping down behind because of the caulking. He said since he was a plumber, he didn't do caulking. We've been afraid to use the shower without taking the whole thing apart. All we could do would be caulk it then keep using it and see if it leaks again. We just haven't done that so we're sort of in limbo right now. I would not recommend American Home Shield.

We noticed that there was water under the flooring in our downstairs room. I had gone online to do my little request of an appointment thing. When the people called me back, they said they couldn't come out for several days. It was another company. I told them that I have water standing on our floor. They said I needed to call American Home Shield and ask them to do an expedited visit. When I called American Home Shield, the person I spoke to first just said that he couldn't get them on the phone so he couldn't do anything. I just have to wait. With water on my floor, that was not okay with me. I finally got through to a supervisor. He told me I just needed to delete my request online and then they could initiate a new expedited request. So, the first person I spoke to didn't know that we could do it that way. It would be good if people could know that.
Iron Mountain Drains & Plumbing came in the door. They were great, professional, and communicated well. They also wore their masks. They assessed the issue, which was that there was a pipe that was broken in the slab. They came back the next day and kept the pipe and rerouted it from the kitchen and dishwasher. It would go directly to the septic system. Then they put a little access panel back and they were on their way. It was a good experience. We also took advantage of the rekey service and AHS also did our heating inspection and getting ready for the winter. Everything's been pretty seamless with just the one little hiccup, and it was several hours on the phone with that one service rep.

I've had service with American Home Shield for a year and they were referred to me by my son and daughter-in-law. The wiring of our dishwasher burned up during a cycle. It took almost two weeks to get a repair person. I knew it couldn't be repaired, but you’d have to go through the whole motions with AHS. A repair person finally came out and he said, “Oh, yeah, the motherboard’s totally fried. We can’t get these parts anymore.” So right then and there, he called American Home Shield and told them. I got an email shortly after saying, “Okay, you can go to Lowe's, and we will allow you to spend $530 on a dishwasher, or we can send you a check.”
I tried calling them several times, and I get put on forget. One time, I held for an hour and 45 minutes, and I finally just hung up. They wanted to replace my dishwasher, which is a GE Profile, with a Whirlpool. And I thought, “No, I want it replaced with the same thing.” We went to an appliance store here in town and bought a GE Profile. It was double the price than they were willing to give us. I've been trying to call them to say, “Just send me the $530 check, because we've already replaced it.” And I can't even get ahold of them to tell them to send me the check. I probably won’t keep AHS.

I had a claim for my dishwasher and that was fine. The only issue was the first person that came determined that the circuit board needed to be replaced and it took a while to get the parts. When the service people finally came with the panel board, they found that whatever it is on the door was actually missing the circuit board so they couldn't repair it and they would have to wait for the actual board to come in. At that point, they just replaced that and not the other parts that they had brought the first time. But the dishwasher has been working well. The service people were also friendly and punctual.
Before this, I also had a claim for the air conditioning unit. The service people had to replace the coil and they took care of that well. This was a different company and they also had to order a part and wait until it got here. The only thing that I was a little bit disappointed with was they charged me for the Freon. I didn't realize when I signed the contract with American Home Shield that they're not like the other companies where the Freon is included. First American Home Warranty was the company I had before and they didn't charge separately for the Freon. Other than that, American Home Shield has been fine and they seem to be on par with the other companies that I've dealt with. Overall, it's a good experience.

American Home Shield has come through. My only thing is I’m not a patient person at my old age. I always tell the contractors to call me if they're gonna be late and I ask them to leave a message when they're gonna be here so somebody will be home. I don’t wanna be waiting on them to get here and they don’t show up. We had Sears came out for the dryer and they went straight to work. The tech fixed it and it’s working okay now, except we keep it on low heat.

One of my refrigerators was leaking water. It was a clogged drain issue and the guy took care of it. Then in my garage, the freezer line was leaking. He also took care of that. Once he got it back going, there was another issue with an engagement piece to get the icemaker to work. So he went ahead and took care of that as well. The guy had all the parts in his truck, which was surprising and nice. I was thankful for that. He knew what he was doing. I've also had claims for my rental property in South Carolina and for the most part, American Home Shield has been pretty good for me. So I intend to keep the service. I recommend them all the time. But I should be getting a better rate being that I have two properties with them.

The only reason I got the coverage through AHS is my daughter vouched for them. But they didn't do anything. My refrigerator is still broken. Their people came out, checked it out and told me they were gonna order parts. But I never got anything from them. I called to ask what was happening and AHS told me Samsung was supposed to do this and that. But I ain’t giving Samsung any money. I’m giving AHS the money. They should not try to pass the buck. That ain't right. If the refrigerator can't be fixed, they should go buy another and put it.
It ain't fair if I'm giving them money for nothing. All I want is service ‘cause they got my money but I've been back and forth with them. All they want to do is collect. That ain’t the way the business runs. They should pay for what they're going to pay, get stuff out there so people can put them out and blow their name up saying they're good, they do what they’re supposed to do and they fix what they’re supposed to fix. Ain't nothing like word-of-mouth. I'm gonna say all over the world that AHS ain’t good.

My garage door was all jacked up. American Home Shield sent a guy out three days later and he came in, took two pictures, and left. And then, they called me back and said it was not covered. I had to call another guy to come here because the previous guy didn't do jack **, and he said it had something to do with the opener. The opener is stuck, and then it caused a rip on the top of the door. They were like, "Well, that's not what our guy told us." I said, "Your guy was here for 10 seconds, took two pictures, and left." I screamed at them and told them I was going to cancel. They told me I had to go to cancellation services, I was then put on hold for 20 minutes, and then I planted the phone down. It was terrible. I've had one other claim and it wasn't covered either. The warranty is already paid for the year, so I will just run it until it expires and not get it again.

My sister in California has American Home Shield and when things broke down in her house, she told us that they were very good and she really referred them. She really liked them a lot. So, I decided to sign up for me and Daniel and we liked it. We're on Social Security and we can't really afford all these other expensive cases. Our air conditioner stopped working. I called American Home Shield on the phone. Their claims process was easy. They said a guy from Crispy Air would call us to make an appointment. And so, we made the appointment. The first time they came, it was Cory who was here. He was very nice, he introduced himself, and he came in. We told him what was going on. He went up into the attic and he took pictures of it and he said it looked very dirty that the stuff up there had come down. The air conditioner stopped four different times after he fixed it, and then it stopped again. The air conditioner is about 13 years old now.

It's been very easy to submit claims to American Home Shield. I usually do it online. Aim High came out recently and the technician was really nice and informative. We were kind of concerned when he pulled out the thing. He kind of just went over, "This is normal for home stuff and things like that." Apparently, they had put two GFCI on one wall. So, with one plug, it knocked out one side, and then the whole back wall. So, we had like a whole room that was knocked out. We thought we had another room that was knocked out as well. He said, "No, it's fine. This switch is attached to that." We didn't know this whole time. In the second room, he said, "No, it's the switch." On the other room, he ended up changing out one of the GFI. He was very nice. He made sure that he set everything for us. My whole experience with AHS, so far, has been relieving.

He did all that on his own and I really appreciate that. He wore his mask too. He was very professional.
When you go online to submit your claim, once you submit the claim, it allows you to choose additional items that that service would be able to combine on to one so that's always very helpful. The only thing I suggest is a follow-up. When they called back to make my appointment, I was able to tell them that there was still a problem with the toilet so they added it back on. I don't know if that's the best way to do it. I tried to go online to see if I could add some type of an additional note saying that I was still having problems. Another thing is when the technician comes out and they have to replace parts, I don't know if they don't know that they're doing an American Home Shield job but they say they have to call and get permission to replace things. I had to go another week with my sink leaking before the guy was able to get the part and come back out.

Recently, I had somebody come out and fix my washing machine. Then, I had somebody come out and fix my kitchen sink and one of my bathrooms. Both guys did a really good job. The guy with the dishwasher, was on time, professional, and answered all my questions without rolling his eyes, which was really nice. In terms of American Home Shield, they give me GPS coordinates of when the person’s coming and arriving. They tell me they can send me an email, letting me know when people are on their way or when they're 15 minutes away. And usually, all the people that are working at American Home Shield send me an email and call me as well to let me know that the techs are on their way. So, they've been really nice and I'm very satisfied with their service so far.
But when I had a claim to unclog my shower in the bathroom, the gentleman messed it up. He broke the seal on the shower and caused me a bunch of damage. But I never reported it because I didn't take pictures of it before or afterwards. When he went in there, he tried to do the work the old-fashioned way. Instead of putting the snake down the drain, he tried to do it with his plunger and he broke the seal on the shower. We got a little shower pan that only sticks up an inch-and-a-half and water was up over six inches. So, when he broke the seal, it ran down the side of the wall where the living room is. So, there was water damage on the wall, then it ran down and it got into where the air duct comes out through the wall. So, black water was coming out of the air duct and running along the baseboard.
I didn't realize what had happened until the next day because he came in and left at 2:30. When he did, the water was gone and everything looked fine in the bathroom. But the next morning, I woke up and my wall was all black. I should have taken some pictures and told AHS. I just went in there and had the plumber come over. He put some caulk and fixed the hole inside the shower, where the shower pan lifted away from the wall. It's a freestanding shower, so there's just a shower pan and it’s got tile. He pushed the shower pan down and there's a line where the tile was, so he caulked and filled that up. He fixed the drywall and everything else.

I haven’t had any problems submitting claims with AHS but they could do a little better screening on the people they have come out and represent them. We had a plumber who fixed a simple valve on the toilet and he ended up making two return trips just to get the same valve fixed, which was a $9 valve. A-1 has been out to the house multiple times over the last year and a half for issues with heating and air conditioning. In the past, they did real well but this last time, they fell flat.
We called them was for an annual heater service and we had a couple of problems with the thermostat. They never called me to set an appointment. I ended up having to call them and got an appointment three weeks after AHS had already taken the $75 payment. Then, they were not able to fix it. And with AHS on the heater service call, we don't get a call back for the same $75. We had to pay another $75 and a different company came out who got it fixed. Other than those, we've had pretty good luck with AHS.

The icemaker was worn out and when AHS sent out Angel Appliances Repair, they replaced it. It was wonderfully done and the contractor was an excellent company. Their techs were prompt and wore PPE when they came out. But I have two other claims with AHS and my experience has been terrible. One item is for a noisy ceiling fan and when the guy came out and looked at it, he said that it didn’t look the right size motor to him. Then he went away and we never heard from them again. The other claim is for the boiler repair and when the first guy showed up, he said he didn't do boilers even though American Home Shield sent him. The next guy who showed up said that the issue was more complicated than he thought. He said he didn't do Rinnai borders and that he had never looked at one. So, he went away.
AHS then referred my claim to Furnace Doctors. They came and tried to analyze the situation. They said they would call Rinnai who was the manufacturer of the boiler, then they came back a week so later and got Rinnai on the phone. They said they were punching buttons back and forth, and Rinnai was uncooperative. They wouldn't admit that their boiler was not performing per the specification, so the serviceman from Furnace Doctors said that there was nothing he could do because Rinnai wouldn't admit that the unit was not working right even though it got these codes on it. So, he went away and I haven't heard from American Home Shield since.

On the third day, the lady in the Philippines told me to wait another 4 hours before I could call a local contractor. After the four hours went by, I called a contractor who came out and fixed my well pump. I submitted the claim for $2900 and they DENIED it because I didn't use one of their contractors. Honestly, I should file a lawsuit but I can't ever deal with this company again. When I say they are the worst, trust me it doesn't do it justice. I have no idea how they are still in business. Thompson Plumbing, Heating & AC did a great job. They showed up on time. Right now, we're waiting for the furnace to come in. But American Home Shield is another story. I've been with American Home Shield for five years now with two homes. This is our new home. Our older home is over in Monroe. Everything over there was wonderful in Monroe. We had a furnace and a washer and dryer replaced and had them come for incidental things. That was good. When we moved in here, a lot has changed with American Home Shield. I'm very disappointed.
Last year, we were having furnace problems and the tech who came out nearly blew up my house. I heard this big pop with my husband. I went downstairs and it smelled like the house was burning. It was throughout the whole house. The guy put two wires together that shouldn't have gone together. The guy spent two weeks to fix the problem. He inserted the motherboard and then he told us the motherboard wasn't it. Then we had to wait for another part. We were on space heaters for almost two weeks while this guy tried to figure out what was going on. AHS needs to check out their contractors.
Trying to get ahold of people from American Home Shield takes forever and everybody's from India and we can't understand them. For this furnace problem, air conditioning, this summer, I was on the line with AHS for an hour and a half. I pressed the option to call me back but they never called me back. Got back on the phone for another hour and it was frustrating.
In mid-November, American Home Shield already took the $75 out of my account for the service call to fix lighting in my hallway. But they still have not sent me anyone because the contractors they work with are so filled up that they cannot set up an appointment with us. I called and asked them why they took the money out of my account and then they said that I needed to contact the contractor. I did that and they told us that they could not get to us for six weeks. So I asked them were they not contacting somebody else. If this would’ve been my furnace, I would not be doing without a furnace for six weeks.
I'm so disappointed because, in Monroe, we had no problems and I told all kinds of great things about AHS on Facebook and social media and told all my friends. They were really good for a long time and then suddenly, we had just junk to deal with. I started looking at other warranty companies 'cause I was so frustrated. Our recent experience with Thompson has been good. They have redeemed American Home Shield and they've done well. I'm paying almost $100 a month, 1,200 a year. I appreciate getting a new furnace. We're doing an upgrade and the whole bit, and we're getting a good buyout for it. But the frustration that we've had to go through was unbelievable. This should have been replaced last year as many times as it went out.
I worked with other contractors in Monroe and they said that if they could do without American Home Shield, they would. AHS would make it so difficult with the paperwork and all of their questions to replace things that it would better to just not even work with AHS 'cause it was just such a headache. So, that frustrates me because we pay American Home Shield good money every month. They should get better contractors and make the contractors happy. Don't put them on the phone for two hours waiting and argue with them about replacing stuff and make sure that their customer service is up to par.

I had called AHS to service the microwave because it didn't work. The first technician came out and he said he was going to order a part. Two or three weeks later, I was called by American Home Shield to tell me it couldn't be repaired. They were going to replace it. I went to the whole thing of ordering a new microwave. They came out to install it within the week of determining that it needed to be replaced but they couldn't take the existing microwave off. They couldn't unscrew it to replace it. So they left the new microwave there and told me that somebody else would have to come out to remove the microwave then install the new one.
The guys that came in were nice but I was disregarded. I haven't heard anything else about it. I got a big old box in the middle of my kitchen just sitting there and I can't use my microwave. I've called them three or four times to get this resolved but I'm always put on hold forever and I just hang up. I called today and I’ve held for at least 20 minutes at least. Recently, I had a service call to American Home Shield and I called because what had happened the last few times was somebody came out here and the warranty didn't cover what the repair was. But AHS never said anything. When you go online and place a service call, it never says specifically all that. So, I was a little disappointed. I pay $80 and have to pay the guy a couple of 100 to fix what I needed to be repaired. I mentioned it to the lady when I called this time, and she said that has been known to happen. She said, “That's why it's always better to call.” But sometimes you can't get through or you're waiting on line. I'm not paying all this money every year $700 to pay for a service call, and then they come out, and I'm paying even more because it's not covered.
Overall, it's paid off. But those little glitches gets me a little upset. I'm satisfied. I did recommend them to a friend of mine when I was telling him about some of the issues. He's a homeowner. I’ve been a member for a while. Over the years, it has paid off my air conditioner. During peak season, sometimes the appointments are a little longer than you’d like to wait. But I’m happy with it. If I wasn’t happy with it, I would have went somewhere else.

AHS is great home warranty company. I enjoy having them. They send people out like they said to fix my bathroom and my drywall. The plumber was good. He was very nice. The issue was with my showerhead. When I had a plumber out there before, he didn’t tighten it or do something right. So, the plumber this time had to cut in the drywall and remove that, put another pipe in and tightened it up. Everything was good.

I called AHS to file a claim for the microwave and the rep was really helpful. Something was wrong with their online system and I couldn't do what I needed to do. The tech came out and had to order parts. It took longer for the parts but he couldn't help that. Other than that, it was good and the tech did everything he was supposed to.
Also, our pool pump just went out and AHS replaced it. We called them for it on November 30th and Jasper’s Service Pro was the one that handled it. The guy came out a couple of days afterwards. I really don't like the pool people in Arizona because they do not do what they're supposed to do. I spoke to Laura, the manager from Jasper's, and I told her what happened and told her to tell their techs to do their job. That night, at 6:30, the guy came out with a pool pump. It pays to talk to the manager.

We had signs of water damage coming through the ceiling from our upstairs to our downstairs. I initially thought it was on the wastewater side of our system coming off of the kitchen and one of the two bathrooms upstairs. The people who came out were extremely professional throughout the entire visit and were timely. They diagnosed the problem to be a leaking shower pan and not part of the actual drain system. It was just the shower pan was cracked and was leaking through. The tech gave me a recommendation for somebody. I highly recommend this service company and would use them again. I've had great service with American Home Shield since I've owned the house. The only thing was they didn't offer me a discount to re-up until after I let it lapse. If they are willing to do that, why not just do it upfront and offer an incentive to renew.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

I had an electrical issue with the heating system. The system didn’t seem to be warming properly. The rep that I talked to was very helpful and they gave me information regarding the company. A Advanced was the name of the place. It took a bit to kind of coordinate when the person was coming but as they got the day of what we scheduled, they sent me something to let me know when he would be arriving, so that was helpful. The service went very well. They checked out the internal of the system and outside as well. The guy did a really nice job explaining what the circumstance was with the system. So he was very helpful.

Sometimes, even though I like to talk to people and I like to hold somebody accountable, sometimes it's more of a hassle the way that the companies make it because they want you to go online. That was my first experience and I enjoyed it. It was quick and it was efficient.
I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. They seem to be a company that they make it easy for you to work with them. Whether I choose to go on the phone and talk to a live person or on the computer and do things that way, they really have good customer service, which is important to me. I've been very pleased since I've joined American Home Shield. I've talked to other people with other companies that they are with. I love it. Someone came and repaired the microwave, but unfortunately, I had to make a new claim. It went out again. I just did it this morning, so they're coming back out. They've already called and scheduled for tomorrow morning. Every time, I've been very satisfied. If a friend asked me about it, I would tell them not only does it have great cost effectiveness, but everything that I have requested has been met above what I ever expected from any warranty. I thought the striker had went out in the oven part. Every time I kept trying to light it, it wasn't keeping a light. The guy came out, looked at it and tried to do what he could to fix it. He went out and made his phone call. His supervisor told us that because the oven is 16 years old, it was best to replace it versus trying to repair it. I appreciated that he told me that. He closed it out. He was very professional and prompt.
My problem has been with American Home Shield because I only got a call back with someone asking me what color is my stove. After that, there was nothing. I've been calling back and forth. When I first initially was calling in, they would pick up the phone immediately and someone would respond to me. But when it was time for them to connect me to someone in another department, I never received another call. I would listen to the automated system, 45 minutes one time, 30 something minutes another time and almost an hour another time. The only reason why I got as much of a response as I did get was because I said to the young lady, “I'm at the point where I'm about to cancel to go with Select Warranty because I did my research.” That's when she told me, “You're eligible for a cash-out.”
I am very dissatisfied only because I'm coming up on another holiday. This is another holiday I'm probably not going to be able to cook for my family. This isn't also a good moment having to constantly ask other people if I can cook at their home or ask if I can be invited into their home because I can't prepare dinner for me and my children.

We had a plumbing claim and it took quite a while to get a technician. We were without hot water for two and a half days. Having none is a bummer and there wasn't an immediate response. That claim was actually expedited by a day for us. But on something critical, the response was not that good. Once the plumber got there though, he did an excellent job. He knew what he was doing and he pinpointed the problem very quickly. The plumbing is fine now. We got hot water. Six years ago, we had some experiences with American Home Shield and those were done satisfactorily also.
Everything worked. The only problem was the timeline between calling in the problem and having the repairman out there. It took 48 to 60 hours to get someone out there. American Home Shield is contracted with different contractors and we understand that. But there ought to be a sense of urgency depending on what the claim is. If it were a dishwasher or a refrigerator, you could probably find alternatives. But with the hot water, you can't wash clothes and dishes. You can't take a shower too.

Sears did my washer and they were great. Submitting the request was easy as well. I just asked a lot of questions to the person, how fast they were getting in and out and the timeliness. I had a window from 8:00 to 12:00 and the guy was there at 8 o'clock. He showed up early and I like that. The guy even explained the issue to me. I'm not used to that. He kept his mask on and he showed me what went bad (the switch). That was really cool. A lot of guys don't usually come out and show you what's going on. They just fix it and leave.
I've told a couple of my friends about American Home Shield, and I sent them the information too, because they had other companies. Initially, I looked at American Home Shield's reviews, and that's what made me switch over. When I saw that they use Sears, I was so happy. I even asked for Sears to come out for my furnace, but they had another company. Still, I was satisfied with the other company that came out for my furnace. That guy explained and showed me stuff that was going on too, because of how they built the furnace in my house. That has been two good experiences so far that I used American Home Shield.
I wish they would shoot us an email if they have a referral program so we can have some kind of code. It would be nice if American Home Shield did something like that for us that have their warranty. That way, we can pass it on and don't have to write down a number and remember everything. We’ll have something to pass on through emails or post on Facebook.

I had an inspection done one month ago for the air duct system and I paid the $100 deductible to American Home Shield. The technician came out from Freedom Heating & Cooling and he did the diagnosis. He told me verbally what was going on and that during the construction of the house, the air duct system wasn't done properly. It's cold and when I turn the heat on, there are loud banging noises that happen every five minutes. The pressures build up and I haven't gotten a good night's sleep. The tech told me that whoever constructed the house didn't put indentations in the air duct system and a bit was needed to relieve the pressure coming in, because that's where all the popping noises are coming from.
I called AHS three times to find out the status and I've been told several times that my claim is still under review. So, I'm still having the loud popping noises and I'm experiencing what I researched. It's called oil-canning and the noise is so loud that I had to get earplugs for visitors. It's been a month, almost to the date, that nobody has followed up other than me talking with American Home Shield last week. Today I'm going to follow up again, then I'll call the Better Business Bureau because I paid my $100 deductible with diagnosis only. That's where it stopped and I'm not satisfied.
It is a system problem and yet, it is under review so long. But the major work is noted, well documented, and Freedom Heating & Cooling is waiting to find out what AHS is going to do about the issue. It’s also not clear how the program works. I have the Premium Plan and I paid my $100 deductible a couple of times. Plus, when I had a claim for the 20 year old air conditioning in the house, AHS sent out the heating and cooling person from Budget Heating & Cooling. He inspected the system, told me I needed a new AC, and told me to choose the size. They said that AHS would only approve a $750 discount for the $5,000 air conditioning. It would be 1100 off if I chose a $10,000 air conditioning unit but my house is only 1,900 square feet so I didn't choose that one. I wasn't told that it would be like than and in the end, I paid $4,023 and something, but that was after the $750 was deducted. So, AHS was not clear about what they would cover and what they wouldn't.
Hi Anissha,
I hate to hear about your most recent experience to have the air conditioner malfunctions repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

I only had to do two claims with American Home Shield this year so I’m pretty happy about that. Getting the claims going is easy. Once I figured out that I could do it on the website, it was pretty simplistic. One claim was for the air conditioner that was making noise. I paid the $100 deductible then I got a call within 24 hours from the service agency. They went out there and fixed the air conditioner. No muss, no fuss. It was reasonable because it wasn't, “You guys need $10,000 worth of work.”
It turned out that the noise had something to do with the belt. I asked how everything else was and the tech said it was good. He checked a few other things. He charged back to the warranty company a little over 100 bucks, which was really reasonable considering it was early summer, late spring. The process was very upfront. It was the same for the second claim. CNJ was the service agency and they called me within two hours of me submitting the service request.
For the first claim, I didn't go out there. I interacted with the first gentleman regarding the AC on the phone and he was great. He called me and told me what was going on as well as what they did. They sent me the documentation telling me what happened and thanking me for allowing them to come out. For the second claim, I went out there because of the fact that I wasn't sure if we were going to have to rebuild the interior of the shower. The problem appeared to be a water leak and I knew that that may or may not be covered. The tech was masked up before he got out of the car.
I have a tenant living there in the house so I wanted to be there so I could make the call and what we had to do. I explained the situation. The tech was super professional and very nice. We stood outside for maybe 15 minutes. The tenant had a young child so we were asked how we were feeling. We both said we both felt fine, which is reasonable in this day and age. The tech did quality service. You always worry about it. Are they going to tell me something so that they can earn business or make something up? Sadly, there are companies out there that will pump up the business.
For the second claim, the tech said it was not a water leak. What we were seeing was common for the way the shower was built. He added that the cracks in the grout was common. I asked if he was 100% positive because if it was something else, I wanted to know now so I could fix it. I would rather know that this was a $5,000 problem today than a $10,000 problem in six months. I was fearful because the house is 16 years old and I didn't want it to be something that we were glossing over. We had a very honest dialogue. The tech referred another company to come out and do a moisture test. That company came out free-of-charge and did the test. They swore up and down there was no moisture.
We're going to move back into that house next year. I'm going to continue with the warranty because I didn't realize how reasonably priced it is and what it covers. I got the call in December last year saying that if I paid early, I would get 20% off. I renewed the policy for 450. This year, I didn't get that call and I was kind of waiting for that. I renewed for 630. I hope that it’s not tied to the fact that we filed a small claim. It shouldn’t matter if it's a roof or a service call.

The tech just walked in and looked at it. He didn't even make five seconds and he was out.
I don't know how I will pay $100 for somebody to come in and do that type of assessment. He was in a rush. When he left, he said he was gonna put in a request for a replacement of the starter so I could at least turn on the burner. But, he put in a review that my stove was covered in grease when there was none. I got so frustrated when I called back to check if the tech was coming back to replace my stove starter. The tech from East Coast Garage Door Sales and Service texted me that he'd be here if it was alright and gave him a number to call him back if it wasn't. He was here when he said he would be and everything went smoothly.

Our AC claim with American Home Shield was fantastic. But I've had a bad experience in my last transaction. It was an issue with the oven and the stove. There's something wrong. The current claim that I had was about 10 days ago and the guy came about last week. I couldn't understand what he was doing exactly, but he replaced a part and then told me not to play with the power. Then the following day, we were using the oven and we found smoke coming in. So we stopped the oven completely. So what he did was completely wrong.
First of all, I called the guy. I told him that what he did was completely messed up and that he needed to come back and fix it. But he said he was not gonna come back until I fixed something with the power, which didn't make sense to me because it was working fine. Then there was no issue with the power before that part got ruined. He refused to come so I called American Home Shield again and told them the story. They said that they would have to check with an electrician to come back. I told AHS to get a second opinion 'cause the guy might be wrong. He was not correct and what he was trying to explain or try to blame it on something else. So the guy told me that if we would hire someone else, then I'd have to pay the copayment for $100. But he will waive it if it's a different issue if the new guy will be able to fix it.
Since then, nobody called me. I tried to call even the other company that they gave me the number. They're closed and I haven't heard anything either from American Home Shield or even the new vendor that they assign to come to fix the problem. The problem has been there for almost three weeks now. Because the first time, when I filed a claim, the first contractor told me that he was busy and that he would come in a week. And it was before Thanksgiving weekend. So I said, that it was fine since we could faith after thanksgiving. We waited after Thanksgiving. The problem happened again. So I requested a little rush service or someone to come as soon as they could, not just to keep me like this. I'm still waiting for someone to call me and nobody's calling me, neither from American Home Shield nor the other contractor that they assign to me.
They're not doing the job. The guy was arguing with me about why I'd have to pay the $100 copayment since it was the same issue happen again. Then in the end, the guy tried to convince me. We met in the middle of the road. I told him that if the issue was different than what the initial guy said, then he should waive the $100. He said he would do that. But I shouldn’t have been charged a copayment again for the same problem. It’s not my fault that AHS is hiring a contractor that doesn't know how to do the job.
If the first contractor is correct and the issue is from something else. They should've just reported that the issue was from something else. Not blindly they tell me that it's the issue from the power which doesn't make sense. They were fixing the oven. What does it have to do with the power? It was working fine. I have that stove for the past four years now and it's not a very old stove.

The tech came out for a routine furnace check. He wasn't even out there 10 minutes and it cost me $75. The service was nothing but just overlooking. It also took me a minute to get to them. Then I got to turn around and do the same thing for the summer. If it's all-in-one, why can’t they check both of them? He said, “We’re only scheduled to check the heating unit.” But other than that, they were okay. They were in and out. Regarding AHS, the price keeps going up, but it seemed like the service is not what I want it to be. But they're good.

We were with another company and we weren't very happy. So, we switched to American Shield. We did a claim this past summer on our AC unit. So, this is the second claim. There was an issue on the hot water heater. We called on a Tuesday and the contractor came out Thursday. The technicians ended up having to replace one of the heating elements. The compressor of the big 5-ton unit was making noise, and then all of a sudden, it stopped working. Rogers Heating & Air was our very first claim with American Home Shield and so they came out and requested to get a whole new outside unit. Then American Home Shield approved a new reverse valve. They ordered the compressor, but they didn't order the reverse valve. It was an ordeal to go back and forth with Rogers and American Home Shield, but they finally got it all taken care of and got the right part ordered. When it came in, the guy went back and replaced the outside compressor and reverse valve. Since then, it's worked perfectly. Then, when we had to change over to heat, and it worked perfectly too.
Recently, the A-coil was rusted through the heating unit on our house and so it ran out of Freon. I went to submit the claim on American Home Shield. I got on my account and clicked on the button, "Request service". It was pretty easy. They said that it was sent to Rogers Heating & Air again. They immediately came out the very next day, looked at it, and ordered the part. They got it within two days, came in, and installed it. Within less than a week, we were back up and running with heat. So, great experience. The guy was very nice and friendly. His staff was very respectful of the house when they were up in the attic area. They cleaned up before they left. It was like they weren't there, so that was very good. Overall, American Home Shield has a fast service call. To get a service tech out is either the day or the very next day.

There was a valve leak on the heating unit. The tech came in and he had the part and he fixed it. So it was all done the same day. It was a good experience. But I had a different one that was not so good. This is a new purchased home. The home is old, but we just moved in. When we moved in, we discovered that the ice maker on the refrigerator was not working properly. So we put in a claim for that. They sent a technician and he told us that it was a certain part that needed to be ordered. So he came back approximately two weeks later to install the part but it was the wrong part. So he had to reorder the correct part. When he came back to install the correct part, he told us that it was something different, and they had to order another part.
We're now in the house for five and a half weeks, and we still don't have a fixed icemaker. When the technician first came and thought that the part that was broken, he should have done a more thorough inspection to determine if there were other issues in addition to that issue. As far as ordering the part, he should have checked before he came here that it was the correct part.

My issue was addressed expertly. The problem was caused by a contractor who worked on it and had not reattached a piece properly. But he was a plumbing person, not an appliance person. So the appliance guy, Precision Appliance, came. He diagnosed the trouble. He was unable to fix it himself because he couldn't move the unit. He made a couple of visits and we eventually got the problem solved. I couldn't have done it without his help.
I have other claims and they have been miss. My doorbell never worked. I had a guy come out to look at it and all he did was pull the cap off and say, “This doorbell is not wired and I can’t fix it,” and he walked away with my $75. I wasn’t very happy about that. My garage door stopped working. There are two doors. One never worked since I bought it, and one stopped working. I had him come out and he said, “Which one of these do you want me to fix?” He would only fix one for the visit, which I was disappointed in. I hoped that I would have a technician come and have both my doors fixed for the same claim. I told him to fix the one that had been working, and he twisted the sensor for about two seconds, and that resolved the issue. That was a waste of $75 and I still have a door that doesn't work. I'm not satisfied with that.
I'd like to see more self-diagnostic issues before I spend the money on a claim that ends up being a five-minute, $75 waste of my time. That would save everybody a bit of trouble. I would not renew personally. American Home Shield is indispensable when you buy a new home, which is what I did. But I was not self-paid for this. I would put it in the bank and save it towards the full price of fixing.

I've had National Platinum Service out here twice for the microwave and stove. It turned out that it was a flipped. It was a power outage and the breaker box, whatever it did, it turned off somehow. The technician turned it back on. I was afraid to do it because it was listed as dining. It wasn't listed as the stove and microwave so I didn't want to touch it because I didn't know if I did, something else would happen.
I went online and it wouldn't allow me to do two service requests. It was asking me to pay again. So I had to call in and have it added to the service request. You need to be able to speak to somebody and not have the frustration of going through the entire process all over again, and then not knowing if it went through. The automated system sucks. I had to repeat myself several times. I say microwave and stove and they didn't understand what I said. So it would just be better if that could be modified a little bit to be more user-friendly. But their techs were always great. We laughed about the whole idea that it was a breaker box and nothing else. But trying to get it done was frustrating and time-consuming. So I'm dissatisfied.

The technician spotted the problem straight away, ordered the part, and came back and fixed it the next day. It was a regulator - the part that regulates the water that comes into the house that goes to the water heater was not working. When my dishwasher is not working, American Home Shield was fast in sending a technician to check my dishwasher. But he wasn't a very efficient technician. I had them come back six times. And then, they claimed AHS closed the case, did not repair it, and said that it must be under the warranty of KitchenAid, and so they would not handle it. So, I'm extremely disappointed with Home Shield.
The techs assumed that it was covered. But they didn't know. I didn't know because it was in the house when I bought the house, and it worked perfectly. Then, we removed it to remodel, and then we placed it back. No reason why not to. It's only about five years old. And then, it started to leak and we started to have problems. American Home Shield closed the case and would not even talk to me. I asked for a supervisor and this Asian lady told me that she could handle it. There was no supervisor. The case is closed and I don't know what to do. I now have to buy a new dishwasher on my behalf. They did not fix it.

But sometimes when you wait until the next day, the appointment won't be made until one or two weeks out. That's the issue I have 'cause I have an elderly mother that lives with me. It's easier for me to call in. I got so much going on right now and the phone is quick. When the repair guys came out, they were professional and nice. They had to come out twice though. The first time that they came to fix my unit, they thought the issue was something minor then it stopped working that night after a few hours. They came right back out within the next few days to fix it and they replaced whatever needed to be replaced. Right now, my heater is working good and things are well. I'm warm, which is so important 'cause it's cold. I hope nothing else is wrong. The only thing is that when I called into American Home Shield, I was told that when the repair guys come out to service, they would also clean the floor if needed, but they don't. It's another service.
If people use the company next time, American Home Shield should clarify that. I was looking forward for the repair guys to do that, but they informed me they don't do that. Also, sometimes I wish that the service fee was a little lower or the price per month was a little lower during this pandemic time. That'd be nice. American Home Shield is good, but every now and then you'll get someone that you're like "Hmm." I've used them in the past and I had one time where the person never called me at all, even after I left a message. Other than that, the service has been good. I'm very satisfied.

The service company came out the same day. The tech had a garbage disposal in the truck just in case. He evaluated our garbage disposal and determined that it was just old and the parts inside had broken down. He replaced the unit and was done.
I had an issue with AHS before. My email was transposed incorrectly. Between the title company and AHS, something went wrong. I checked the mail that was sent by the title company and my Realtor. That was correct. But whoever edited it at American Home Shield misspelled my name and my email. When I went to set up an account to make a claim, I didn't exist as my email was not in the AHS system. Multiple phone calls were required. Many of us waited on hold for over an hour. Finally, my Realtor got through to someone at the top.
I made a claim with AHS for my air conditioner that burned out. We had only been in the house for a couple of weeks. My 93-year-old mother lives in the house and she was hurting as she was swelling. We had to put cold cloths on her to keep her cool. It had taken so long to get the request for service through and we couldn't wait any longer. We had to get somebody and have them come fix the air conditioner. We paid for that service.
AHS finally assigned a contractor but it was too late. It was after we had already had the air conditioner fixed and my mother had already been involved with the doctor. AHS was sorry that my email was wrong. They could see that it had happened on their end. They reimbursed me. They rectified the mistake and that was hard work. Now, my account is accurate. If I was recommending AHS to somebody who still was younger and had all their wits about them and could maybe go for a fight, there would be about a 2% to 5% chance that a mistake will be made.

As it was spinning, it was jumping all over the floor, so I had to stop it. I thought I had too much clothes in it, so I took some clothes out and I put on a small load. But it was still going bonk, bonk, bonk when it was spinning. So I called and I reported it. They said they would send somebody out. They sent somebody back out but he said I wasn't home. My car wasn't here but I was across the street at my neighbor's. My neighbor and I never saw him come to the house. When he called to say he was on his way, he left a message on the house phone. I didn't notice it until two days later when I was checking the house phone because it hadn't been working. But I told them I keep my cell phone with me 24/7 because I do a lot of work for the VA.
The tech told his boss he had to go and order some more parts. I told him that if he was gonna spend all this money on parts, American Home Shield gets the majority of stuff from Home Depot and they got a big sale going at that time. He could buy a washing machine the same type I got for less than $600. But he said, "No. We're gonna repair it." So it's still not working right.
I also used AHS for a leak repair in the kitchen floor. They also ran my hot water through the ceiling. I had a sink repair and I also used them for the refrigerator. I've been pleased with them. I’ve never had any problems so I continued to pay. But I'm still trying to figure out what they're gonna do with the washing machine because I was on hold the first time for 35 minutes when I called the phone number that they gave me for the appliance division. Nobody picked up. All I wanted to do was give them the extension. I couldn't even do that because I was talking to a recording. I also called the repair people and they said they were having as much hard of a time trying to reach them as I do and some of the other clients that they work on. I need a washing machine. I'm using my neighbor's washing machine and bringing the clothes across the street to dry them.

I had an electricity problem. In two days, a tech got to my home. He was knowledgeable about his job and it took him 20 minutes to do what he had to do. He was very professional. Everything has been fine since then. AHS is a good company. I had their warranty at my old house under my mother-in-law's name. We moved and got our own home and we got American Home Shield as well.

I had technicians who helped me do the dishwasher repair. The first tech couldn't repair it. The second tech said that my dishwasher is too old and that he couldn't fix it. He said I needed a new dishwasher. American Home Shield immediately referred me to buy a new one. The third tech who helped me install the new dishwasher was good. If the first contractor AHS sends is not could, I can't change it to the other one. They will charge me another $75 for it if I want to change the technician that I don't like. That's not fair to me. Also, every time I call Home Shield, it takes me over an hour to reach customer service which is normal because it's pandemic. Other than that, I still recommend AHS.

It wasn't going down when I flush the toilet. More Than Plumbing was assigned and AHS gave me the contact person if I needed to call. They sent a plumber and he snaked the toilet but there was a foreign object there, so it wasn’t fine. They suggested replacing the toilet and AHS doesn't cover it because of the object, it’s not a natural thing. I don’t have $500 so we didn’t have it done. But it would have been nice if they replaced the toilet.

We have a claim for our valves in the garbage disposal. I had to reschedule that from last Thursday and nobody contacted us yet. At the same time, our heat went out a week and a half ago. We went four days where the unit was not working. We checked our warranty, American Home Shield, called, set up a claim. I called a 1-800 number, and the person on the line set up and did the claim. They sent us emails to verify the information that we spoke about. They connected with a local company who came out here that Monday. He was here first thing in the morning, didn't take longer than an hour, went up in the attic and looked at the issue. He noticed our unit was about 20 years old and the things that needed to be fixed. He prepared some quotes for a potentially new unit or for his company to come service our current one. He explained everything to me, took pictures, fixed it, and was on his way.

My dryer was stuffed up with junk. The thing that goes into the wall had all kinds of lint. It was a mess. It was drying, but it took an inordinate amount of time. The guy that came out was wonderful. I couldn’t have been more pleased with him. He was kind and considerate. He explained to me that an animal was building a nest in there. I was very satisfied with him. He’s one of, if not the best that I’ve had come out here for anything. That was a very good experience. The dryer worked, and it’s working now.
I’m just not quite clear on American Home Shield's billing process. Sometimes, they want me to pay, and then, I was ready to pay this time to the guy that came out but he said, “No, no, no. You don't pay me.” I haven’t bothered to call but I’m sure they’ll get their money. I also have this air conditioner and they fixed it for about three times. It really needs to be replaced and they said they will replace it. It’s held up. Yearly, I used to have to have someone come. But the last time was over two years ago. So it is working as of last summer. I just feel that it’s overdone. I know they’re trying to save money, and they don’t want to replace it.

I like AHS. We had it originally when we bought the house and we kept it for about four or five years. We had let it lapse then we went back to them about a year later. When I call, they give me an appointment. Their people usually show up on time and the problem's always resolved. We've only had an issue with one in the years that we've had them. They're a good resource. They are reliable, dependable and very reasonable. They pay full price for a lot of things they've replaced like the garbage disposal. They fixed the refrigerator that we would have had to pay like $3,500 to repair, and it cost us 75 bucks. We had an issue with our heating and air and they repaired that. So, we've saved a lot of money not having to pay retail prices for it. Recently, the garbage disposal wouldn't turn on. The guy showed up when he was supposed to come. He was personable and he wore his mask. He connected two wires that had come loose. It fixed that so it was good.

I ended up sitting for a week with no heat and they didn't have enough people to come out and do the work. I don't know what was going on. I was treated by several people like a child and there were several people that I asked to return phone calls to and I did not get phone calls. So, I'm not happy with them. My dishwasher quit working about 10 or 15 minutes into the cycle. It quit working and it flashed auto heavy, and they just stayed like that. The circuit board was out. Then, we called, the contractor came out, and he looked at it. And of course, when he came, he was on the run. He was like, “There's nothing I can do.” He told me it was probably a fluke and would never happen again. I was like, “Okay, cool.” Two days later, I went to run the dishwasher. It ran for 10 minutes, and it started flashing auto heavy. The exact same thing. I called again and AHS said it would be almost three weeks before the tech would get out here, and I said, “That's not acceptable.” I wouldn't wait three weeks. AHS got me somebody else to come out.
Steven was awesome. He came out quickly and looked at the dishwasher. We had recorded what was going on with it, and he took a minute and looked at it and said, “It's a circuit board.” He ordered one and it came in, he then came out and the thing has been running great ever since. He was so nice and very knowledgeable. He took care of it right away. My dishwasher is amused doing everything by hand because we're all spoiled. So, it just makes it easier.
Initially, I was a bit frustrated. Part of that was speaking with AHS. And they wanted to keep putting me on hold. I spent an hour and a half on hold, waiting for them to get ahold of somebody. When they came back on, I said, “No, I'm done. I'm done waiting. Get ahold of somebody and call me back.” They wanted to place me on hold while they were trying to contact someone to come out here. I let them do it twice, and then I said no the third time. “No, I'm not doing that. Call me back when you have somebody.” But overall, it ended up being a pleasant experience. AHS got it fixed in a timely manner.

The techs are very good and I’m very pleased with them. But every now and then, they have to come out again because, for example, it was a different part. I suggest they only come out once. Also, I have situations with some contractors that don't answer the phone, that I have to call three times and reschedule, and that I have to call AHS until they give me somebody else. Then, I have to get charged and wait like a month to get refunded because I have to pay for the service first.
But when my orders go through people like Liberty, I'm the happiest person. Liberty does my AC and heating and they are the best technicians AHS has. I have a rental and the tenant got the kitchen sink clogged. The first people that were assigned never answered. It took a little while. But once the technician got there, it was all taken care of. Liberty also came out for my most recent claim and everything is working terrific now. I tell my friends and my family about AHS. I tell them that I save money in the long term.

The issue I had on November 25th was a leak in my kitchen. We thought it was something underneath the sink but it turned out that all my pipes have to be redone in the house. I called American Home Shield and they said they would cover anything within the walls of the house. They sent out a plumber from Robert Phillips Plumbing and he replaced the valve shut off. They offered a temporary fix for $189 but AHS wouldn't authorize that. They assigned another plumber who's supposed to come out.
It's been almost a month with water pouring into my house. I'm going round and round with them. When I called in December 2nd, one lady told me everything will be covered, including any walls they have to take out and they would cover all the refitting of the pipes. But then I get a call back and they're not authorized to do that. They will never let me speak to a supervisor or somebody else.
Then it came up to last Saturday. I called and spoke with Rose. I was told to get my own plumber, which I had to do or my homeowner's insurance is gonna say I'm dragging my feet and they would deny my claim. I said I want my $100 back and I want them to pay for the plumbing. I had to call Roto-Rooter on a Sunday, which was almost $500. It's been a nightmare. Other than that, I've had them for two years and they've been wonderful when it comes to appliances and sending people out. Somebody comes out and if they don't fix it, I ask for a recall. My dryer went out and that was repaired. Then, it was my refrigerator and they're sending me money for that.

I've had AHS for a year and a half and I was ready to cancel them. There was an incident where my dryer broke and they may have gotten my orders mixed up with somebody else's. They kept telling me that the technician was saying that I needed to clean out my lint filter and that wasn't the case. I needed a part. AHS wouldn't budge from what they said the technician said. When the part came in, the company called me and said that the part was in. They asked if I still needed the service. By that time, I had already had to buy a new dryer because AHS refused to believe I needed a part. That cost me $1,000.
Then, the electronic pad of my stove stopped working. Express Appliance had to come out and fix it and everything went fine. The tech was quick and thorough. He had to order the part and have it sent to my house. When it came, I called the tech back and he installed it. The stove has been working fine since then. AHS is a good service. If you have a home, you really need to have it.

Royal Flush came out, but I did not feel like the AC claim was addressed well. I had a dripping noise. They've gone, and I still have the same dripping noise. But the noise in the unit has quieted down a little. I sent the claim in to American Home Shield on a Sunday, and they were here on a Wednesday. Then, I had them come back a second time. It was like a week later. They still said there was nothing they could do, and that it was just gonna make that noise. They could not find any reason for the noise, and it’s still dripping.
American Home Shield's claim process is simple. I typically do it online or I just call in. The contractors I get, I've loved so far. The contractors have mostly done my AC unit, and they've come out fairly easily. The most recent thing I had before the heat issue was the hot water heater. That went well. They came out, told me what the issue was. It wasn't working, so they replaced it.
With the situation now, I could get a second opinion. But I didn't like the fact that I would have to pay another service fee if the second opinion didn't come to a different conclusion than the first. Everything else has been fine. They're doing everything they can do. It seems that their customer service people have a script. They're going by the script. They know the script. So, they're doing good.

The last techs that they sent out were prompt and they let me know when they were on their way. They described the situation as well as my discrepancy in my system to me adequately. They also provided documentation shortly after and they were awesome. All in all, the coverage with AHS is superb and they fixed any issue I've ever had. When one of my appliances went out, they replaced it when they couldn't fix it. And they always describe in detail what I need and what the situation is. Then I have a choice to make at the end of it, so I never feel forced and I never feel like they're trying to sell me on anything. Plus, the coverage is only $50 a month, so it's worth the money.

It was a terrible experience. I had called in American Home Shield to have my ceiling fan repaired, to check the doorbell, and to check my smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detector. When the guy came, he fixed the fan and the doorbell turned out to be okay. But he didn't get up and test the smoke detectors. He didn't tell me whether they needed batteries so I was left hanging not knowing whether I had working smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detector.
After phone call after phone call with the contractor and back and forth with American Home Shield, they couldn't seem to get it resolved. It took almost a good week or so to get all this resolved. I kept calling the company and the lady I was talking to kept telling me she was going to contact her supervisor to find out what the guy did, but to no avail. She never called me back as to how they were going to resolve it. I called today, spoke to American Home Shield and explained to them what was going on. The guy told me that they told him that they took pictures of the smoke detectors. I said, “You don't need to take pictures. I'm asking you to repair these or tell me do they need to be replaced?" I have a high ceiling so there's no way I can get up there and test it. That was the main reason for me to have them come out and look into it.
After going around and around with American Home Shield today, they finally gave me a new contractor guy that came out in five minutes. He looked at them all, looked at the batteries and pressed the buttons to see if they were beeping. He did a very thorough job but American Home Shield doesn't cover smoke detectors that are battery operated after all that we went through.
I've had some good people that came out and some that are not so good. I don't know how American Home Shield gets these people to come out but I was very disappointed with that contractor. The lady that worked in the office kept giving me story after story but she was not very helpful at all. I was just about ready to cancel this contract today because I was so disappointed with their service. I couldn’t understand why they could not fix the situation. The guy was here and all he had to do was test them but that was something he couldn't even do. I had to complain and tell them I was gonna make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because that was totally ridiculous. Then they were going to charge me another $100 for a service call. I said, “Oh, no. You will not when this job hasn't even been completed.”
I called in three items on that first work order and I expected them to be completed. You’re supposed to know whether this is something they're going to be able to do or not before they even come out. But they went on and sent this other company and they didn't charge me a second time which I didn't think they should have anyway because I never got my full service. Whoever they assign to you that's going to come out, you better go online and see what kind of reviews they have so you can avoid any frustration. I'm assuming that the people that they contract with are reputable but see what other people have to say before you say yes to it. Maybe that can save you some wear and tear and stress.

I like American Home Shield. My daughter and I have a house and we always got leaky faucets. Whenever we call for something like that, the guys come when they say they're going to come. They're very dependable. Every one of the contractors thus far has exceeded expectations. American Home Shield has that $75 fee, but it seems well worth it if they can solve the issues. We're pleased with them. One time, under the sink where it would run in the vanity or at least down the sink, the repairman tightened stuff up, resealed some stuff and fixed it.
I do claims online most of the time. I just say it's a plumbing, electrical, with this or that then they forward the call over to the company and the company then calls me. It works good. I'm content with it. All in all, American Home Shield has got a good service, they're fair price, and they come and do what they're supposed to do. During the summer, the heat wouldn't shut off. So American Home Shield sent Cutting Edge out and fixed it. Then when it started getting colder, I needed the heat and I thought it stopped working again, so I called American Home Shield about it. They sent another company out in between. That company said that wires were disconnected for the heat. They said that they couldn't work on it because alterations were done. That was why I had to call American Home Shield back and tell them that the people that they sent out during the summer disconnected wires and overrode the system so it would only put out the AC. Now that I need heat, the heat wouldn't work. After all the stuff went down and I had to keep calling American Home Shield. They had someone come back out and they said they would replace the part. The unit has been working with no issues since they've come out that last time.
I haven't had any problems with American Home Shield until this last one. But this last incident was really bad because I had to keep going back and forth and they put me on hold two times for a whole hour and then they just kept giving me the runaround, telling me that they would call me back but never did. So for certain issues, you would have to stay on American Home Shield for your claim to be taken care of. These are things that they want to keep repairing and not replace. Then you keep paying your money to get a serviceperson to keep coming out there instead of them going ahead and replacing it. They also need to review the people that they subcontract. After a certain amount of reviews that they've been getting on that, they need to replace those people and not do business with them.

I work in healthcare and I need my clothes to be washed and clean for work. We also had to make arrangements to shower somewhere else. There were just logistics and never a good time for those types of things to go out. Overall, the outcome was exactly what I wanted. The unit was put in and everything is working properly. The tech was great as well.
Then the dishwasher wouldn't turn on. Someone came out and checked the plumbing before the call and someone came out and checked the electricity before the call. Then, they had the appliance guy come and tell us that it was a motherboard issue and that it was not covered under warranty. We never talked to American Home Shield about it. We just took his word for that and bought a new dishwasher.

About the electrical issue, I had two lights in different areas of my home that just continuously burned out and we didn't know why. Whitney ended up fixing three things for us, and got it all taken care of. Everybody made me feel very comfortable. They were very helpful and listened to all my concerns, and took care of everything that day. It was wonderful. AHS was very easy and kind to work with.

The condenser on the AC needed to be replaced. The guy who came out was excellent. He did everything he needed to do to fix the issue. He ran into some issues trying to replace it, but he knew exactly what to do to make it work. I was impressed. That was the first time I had someone actually come out and repair something, and everything was okay. The AC is working but there is one more step we have to take. It has to be filled with Freon because it’s blowing warm air. But I haven't heard anything yet.

We had a couple of small leaks. One was on the main water line that could be fixed in a couple of minutes. Then we had a leak under one of the bathroom sinks that took an hour and a half. American Home Shield sent a plumber and he seemed very competent. He was great, very friendly and he solved the problem. It was an easy experience. This was our first claim and the process was straightforward. We were very happy with how it went.

I had a washing machine that could not be repaired. It was working, but it had a problem with the motor not running properly. American Home Shield sent two repair people out, and they could not figure out how to fix it. So, they could not find any model numbers or certain things on the washer. They turned it back to American Home Shield, and American Home Shield told us to buy a new one, and they'll refund us the amount that we agreed upon. They sent me the refund of the purchase of a new one.
Since we've started the account with American Home Shield, my experiences have been very good. It seems that each problem we have always happens on a Friday. Nobody's open on the weekends. We're kinda always stuck with that weekend waiting period. Then, it's 48 hours, so it's usually Monday or Tuesday that someone comes out.

United Air Temp came out for our heating. Everything was fine. The tech did a little maintenance on one of the pieces and so far, so good. My overall experience with American Home Shield is a little different. First of all, their waiting time for their calls can be a little expensive. It seems like there's a slight language barrier, too. Sometimes, I'm trying to understand the technicians, and they're trying to understand me. This has happened multiple times. Recently, when I placed several calls, it’s like that information is not getting communicated to the actual contractors. I have put about three items on the ticket, but only one of them got transferred over to the contractor that was going to do the work. As a result, I've had to call American Home Shield back to ask them why the other request didn't get transferred over. So in addition to their extensive waiting time, it's a little frustrating and a little hassle because you have to go through the whole process again.

The dishwasher stopped working. When the company called, they asked how I wanted to be set up. I chose the date that they would come out and put it in. They came on that date and their tech diagnosed the situation. It seemed like the tech could go ahead and order the same dishwasher that was in there. They’re supposed to get back with us to replace it but we haven't heard from them.

My recent claim was for my dryer. It was high volume of calls that day. I had to stay on the phone for almost two hours. I was upset about the claim before because why didn't they clean out all that fuzz that was in there because you can't get to it. I cleaned up my filter every time, but it still gets way down in there. And then it gets stopped up. That's why I had to call to clean out my dryer. And it cost me $85 for servicing. The tech fixed it. But I was aggravated. The guys that worked on it last time had to take everything off of it, and they could see all that stuff. Out of courtesy, they would have vacuumed it. When you're fixing the heating element, you see all this dust. Go ahead and vacuum it. Why wouldn't somebody do that? That's what I don't understand.
I love American Home Shield. I recommend that to anybody, as far as insurance and especially with older appliances that don't have the warranty anymore. Several people this past month were questioning me about it. I agree that American Home Shield is great. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have a lot of things that were fixed. It's just I was aggravated with the service. Whoever they contact, they should beef up the services.

American Home Shield sent a contractor out for the electrical and the plumbing. The plumbing is not that good. My toilet is still not working the way it should work. They were supposed to come out to fix the stoppers in the sink. He said, “That's not a stopper, that’s a pop-up.” So, he couldn't touch it. I call it a stopper because it stops the water from going down. They call it a pop-up. He didn't do anything, and still hadn’t done anything on that.
He had to come out twice and tried to fix the toilet. You still got to hold it down for the water to go on down. I didn't call him back for more. They called, the same guy came, and he came out again the second time for the same thing. The toilet kept running all night and I couldn't sleep. I said, “Lord, have mercy.” And then a guy came out and he said, “Oh, okay. It’s fixed now.” Same guy. I still got to hold it down for the water to go down so it could stop. They probably need to find another plumber. I called American Home Shield and told them about the toilet wasn't working. They don't have to send them out again. And I’m not paying that $100 again. He had to fix that. I said he didn't even fix my sink stoppers to hold the water in. I just said, "Forget it." I didn't call back for that.

I do like the service and I do promote American Home Shield. I always call all of my service requests. At one point, I was very dissatisfied because I had to be on hold for so long. I don't know if that was due to staffing or due to COVID. But overall, I'm satisfied with them. I've been a member with them since I've owned my home which is over 10 years now. I don't have any problems with the technicians. They always give a timeframe and I ask that they call before they come, and they do that. However, if they raise their prices more, I am going to discontinue the service. For me to have to pay monthly then to pay for the service technician is okay. But the price is still a bit high for them to be as large of a company as they are.

I look at AHS's service like life insurance. Our home is built in '86 and things break down. We're making a small monthly payment for any repairs that need to be done in the house rather than me going out, buying what's needed, and having to pay somebody to put it in. One time we had a claim and there was a sink part and the pipe under the sink had to be replaced. If we didn't have this warranty, we would have been out $200 or $300. I liked that two-for-one. Also, it doesn't take long to call a claim in and I can tell AHS the contractor I want. We have a contractor who has been here on at least three different occasions. Service Contractors Plumbing is a good plumbing company and we're pleased with their work.

American Home Shield is usually prompt about getting somebody out. Our dishwasher broke down and within a week, techs came out and the techs diagnosed the problem. They said the problem was the control board and it took almost two weeks for them to come out again and replace that. The tech said the dishwasher worked and then he left. was doing some home teaching so I didn't go into the kitchen and try it myself. Later that day, I loaded the dishwasher and turned it on. I came back to finish my teaching and noticed I didn't hear anything.
So, I went back into the kitchen and found that there was no water. I called Home Shield immediately to let them know that the dishwasher wasn't working still. They told me that the earliest opening they had was today. It has been four weeks now that I've had no dishwasher and that's hard with three people in the house. AHS needs to hire people who can actually diagnose problems. I recommend that they work with companies that can actually come out and fix problems on the spot rather than customers having to make repeat calls. I've had other issues with my heater and I've had to call them three times for one of those issues.

American Home Shield is one of the most efficient warranty companies that I know of. I've had them for over 11 years. For the most part, I've always had good service from them. The only time I may have problems is when they tell me that the issue that I have is not part of what I've signed up for. We get that sometimes, but that hasn't happened recently. I had an issue with my washer and dryer and I called in. The technician who came was very good and very professional. The first time he came, he tried to look 'cause he couldn't replicate the issue on one of the appliances. But as soon as he left, I was able to record it and send it to the department. They emailed it to him and he got the parts, came back a few days later, and got the issue fixed. I haven't had the same issue since then.

We've had our oven replaced through AHS and they were so generous and kind. The issue is American Home Shield but the people they hire. One of the two technicians who came out for our heating claim told us that we needed to replace parts. When I heard from American Home Shield, they said we were missing parts and that's where the claim was denied. Then, we had somebody else come and first, he told us, “You guys need this part, but it's not covered. It's an upgrade but you need it.” My husband and I both have been struggling with the COVID and we've been really ill. We needed heat in the house. So, I asked how much it would be to fix my heating. The tech said 175. I asked if that was the best he could do as we had no money.
The tech said he could bring it down. But then, he called us and said he was going to come out but we needed another part that was going to be another $175. I told him we couldn't do that. We have a friend who is an air conditioning guy and he told us that our pilot igniter is sticking and that we needed to replace that part. Because our unit was so old, the manufacturer doesn't make the needed part anymore so he would have to order a retrofit one. I told him what the techs had told us about replacing and he said that was a lie.

I had a very good experience with Advantage Air Conditioning & Refrigeration all the time. When I call, that’s the company that I want because I'm more familiar with that company than another. One time, I had another one, but I'd rather be with them. I have extreme OCD. I like everything clean and picked up. Normally, if I have a plumber or someone, sometimes I have to tell them, “Hey, guys, you need to wipe the floor or something.” But these guys have been really good. They clean up everything. They even cleaned my filter and replaced it, so that was good.
I always call American Home Shield for my claims. I'm old school. I realized after being with them for years and years, they went up in the monthly payments. Other than that, I've given them hundreds of people to enroll. My first year that I started with them was when I became a widow because I was very scared to let men into my home. Being alone sometimes, men don't respect, unfortunately. So, I had a bad experience, and that was when I learned about Home Shield. And now, I tell everybody about it because Home Shield is going to protect me from those people coming in. They know better because we can report them to Home Shield. This was like the best thing that I did. All my friends that are either widowed or elderly, and even my family, cousins and sisters all have it.

He was very into making sure that I had my needs met.
I had used American Home Shield several times and it was a relief to have it. I’ve never had an issue with their performance in doing the subcontracting for the outfits they use in my area. Now, I want to cancel it because I’m doing rehab and my concern is there’s going to be some things done that I’ll have to either contract out. I wouldn’t be able to use them during that period.

I've had AHS since 2016 and it has always been easy and to the point when submitting claims. However, I don't always agree with the repair people they sent to me. They send the most inexpensive ones and not the ones that actually know how to do the work. Other than that, I've gotten work completed and they have saved me a lot of money. A&S Plumbing has come to my house twice and each time, they have been very professional and helpful. The guy knows his job and he's patient. He is willing to talk even through his work. If I'm standing there, I go talk through it and ask him if I have any other issues.
I have also had Sears and they've been the only one who has been able to diagnose and fix my 'frigerator satisfactorily. I bought a Frigidaire years ago and it freezes up inside and leaks from the bottom. If I can get Sears every time whenever I have a 'frigerator problem, it would be great. Before, AHS sent a repair person who had to come out five times and couldn't even figure my issue out. So, I got tired of calling and I just called back again when the problem got bad. The Sears guy knew exactly what he was doing and I would love to have him back again. I haven't had a problem since he came. I think AHS works from the bottom of the list and I don't always get the best repair person. But, we worked through it and I don't stop until I get my issue fixed. We plan on keeping AHS. I've already recommended them to a lot of my friends. They have sent people out when I needed them most, like if my bathroom and toilet back up. They've always sent somebody out immediately, especially on weekends. If they can't get somebody out that evening, the next day, somebody would.
