    It's been mostly good with AHS. I've had three repairs and two of them are complete. However, they're hard to get ahold of. You stay on hold for a long time. Also, some of the vendors that I’ve used are a little flaky. I had an appointment for someone to come out for my dishwasher. It was scheduled from 1:00 to 5:00. I called that morning to confirm that they were going to be out between 1:00 and 5:00 and they said yes. I got a text message at 3:45 saying the tech was on his way. At 5:45, he still wasn't there. I called the number and said that was incredibly rude and inconsiderate. No one had called to tell me the tech was not coming. I didn't get a call back until 6:50, saying, “I'm sorry, I got delayed. We're gonna have to reschedule.” I was like, “No, thanks. I'm not going to reschedule with you.”

    I had to call American Home Shield three times to get set up with a different vendor. They sent someone who clearly had never repaired a dishwasher. The claim was denied because they were saying there was a foreign particle. I said, “Yeah, That's why the dishwasher is broke. The bearings from the drawer that you push in and out to load the dishwasher broke. They are the ball bearings. It's on Maytag’s website.” I had to call American Home Shield and dispute it. They said they could send out another repair person but if it turned out that it was a foreign object, then I was gonna have to pay another $125 service fee. The person came out a couple days before Thanksgiving and said he'd be out the next week but I didn't hear from him. I reached out to him this week and he said the parts are still on backorder. It would have been nice to have been contacted to say, “I'm sorry. We're not coming. The parts haven't arrived.”

    I'm very satisfied. Budget Cooling and Plumbing is a small business, but they run it like a medium-sized corporation. They run the whole operation in a very professional and smooth way. They follow up before and after. They came when my AC went out. The other issue is a blockage. There's a leak in the ceiling. The technicians identified the problem, ordered the replacement part, and got it all resolved. They did a wonderful job and they are good people. I really like Budget because for the plumbing, I had to wait until they became available. We tried another plumbing company last year on the same problem and they did not truly resolve the issue. For once, Budget Cooling and Plumbing resolved what’s a historical issue from last year.

    The unit was not working and the tech checked it and got a whole bunch of stuff done on it. He determined that the heat exchange was faulty so he put in a new furnace. He was here Monday and it was about four days later when he got a furnace. He had to have it okayed through American Home Shield, which was what took the longest. Still, all in all, AHS has been good. I’ve had three things fixed in a year and a half that I've had it, so it's never been a problem. They’ve always taken care of it in a reasonable amount of time. I’m very happy with what’s been done so far.

    One of our air conditioners started being difficult and when that happened, I decided to sign up with American Home Shield because I have a feeling these difficulties might continue. A garbage disposal was cracked because water was literally running out to the bottom of it. It decided to leak on Thanksgiving Day and the contractor came on Monday after that, which was fine.     I went to American Home Shield's website and filed a claim. That was very easy. I had claims for two different appliances. One was my oven and the second one was a clothes dryer. There are two sets for the oven. There's the top oven and the lower oven. The top oven wasn't heating up. As for the dryer, it wasn't warming up as well. I was provided a notification that Watkins Repair was assigned to my claims and I should receive a contact from them shortly. The technician who came was was polite and courteous. He explained the process as well as the estimated wait times for receiving the parts. I had a good experience overall. Everything has been functioning well now.

    The repair has been essential to our day-to-day functions within the home because I have a family of four and we wear lots of clothes. I do the laundry in the home. Without the dryer, we would have had to go to a laundromat. I was lucky enough to have a second dryer that I installed during that time while I was waiting for the other one to be fixed. It's the same thing with the oven. We cook lots of foods in the oven. It's a hindrance, especially during the holidays like we're in now, when we don't have that oven available.

    I had a service for my air conditioning back in June. I asked the guy what he thought about the warranty places and he mentioned American Home Shield. I googled them and then I got a phone call. The signup process was simple and the lady was really knowledgeable and nice. I still want to make an appointment to see what the different levels are of coverage because I was really impressed with the process and how everything worked. I just can't right now because I'm on a break right now from my job. We’re really happy with the service from American Home Shield. The water heater got done. Heros Plumbing Service was excellent and respectful. They wore face masks and then they stayed away. It was all good.

    I had someone from Home Shield come out to fix my disposal thing in the kitchen sink. He was fantastic. He came out, fixed the problem right away and he was gone in five minutes. A couple of days later, my sink kept filling up with water whenever I'd run the water. So, whatever was clogging up the disposal got into the drain line. I called Home Shield about four weeks later to order the second plumber to come out to unclog the drain. It was just the main drain that goes from both sinks to the ground or to the water system. It was clogged up. He just put in that long snake thing, and snaked it out, and that helped fix the problem. He was perfectly professional, and he was dog friendly. It was nice to not have to lock up my dog since he didn’t bark the whole time he was here. I will never have a house without a home warranty, and I highly recommend American Home Shield because everything is easy with them. I do everything online.

    I would give this company zero stars if I could and I honestly suspect the other reviews are paid for because I could not imagine worse service. We pay roughly $80 a month which as you can imagine adds up very quickly. When our dishwasher broke, it took their subcontractor weeks to come out, weeks to diagnose the problem (only when I called to follow up), and weeks to forget to send me an email that our dishwasher (a fairly new stainless steel Kitchenaid) was "uneconomical to repair". When I called AHS to inquire about this, I got rerouted to their appliance department and was put on hold for 2.5 hours (I'm not kidding) waiting for someone to talk to me.

    Through brute perseverance and calling incessantly day after day, I finally got through to someone at AHS who looked into the dishwasher value, giving us significantly under market value for what it was worth. To salt our wounds, they said they didn't have any replacements dishwashers available "for at least 3 months" so they agreed to write us a check instead (again, for a value that you couldn't buy a new dishwasher for). While the check was said to be coming in the mail, we bit the bullet and bought a new dishwasher out of pocket (it had been months by then since we had a functional one). To summarize, we made our first service request in September, and it's now December and we STILL haven't received this elusive check. I'm currently on hold with AHS writing this review. And yes, we're still paying $80 a month for their "service".

    Going through the webpage is easier, but there are some contractors that I don't want coming to my home. If I'm afraid that a certain company is gonna be sent out to my home, I call in to request specifically that I don't want X, Y, or Z setting foot on my property. For issues concerning electrical problems though, I've never had any problems with any of the contractors. One time, whenever we plugged in something, there was no charge. A gentleman came out and repaired the outlets. He was very courteous, kind and professional. He was here, he was very quick, and he finished the job. It was perfect. We've had no repeat problems as well. On the other hand, I'm currently having issues with my dryer. The gentleman came out five days ago, and he said he had to get authorization to make the repair, but I have not received any word from American Home Shield if the repairs have been authorized.

    The appliance company that came for the washing machine was rude, very brash and did not answer questions. They called for guidance from their boss in another language. I don't want them in the house again. I was surprised because we’ve always had a home warranty and I was gratified that the actual people we needed were following up. But when I asked the original appliance person if that was it, it was done. He was ready to leave because he did his job, without an explanation. Then the technician from Stanford Electric that came out for electrical problems was good. Doing local is always good if possible. But the ones that are not from our area don’t seem to be helpful. Overall, the experience with American Home Shield was professional and we would renew it.

    Our refrigerator wouldn't close for some reason and we thought it was going bad because it wouldn't cool. When a tech came out, we found out that a hinge was broken and the refrigerator wouldn't seal properly. That was why the refrigerator wasn't cooling. There was a little tiny plastic part that was broken off. The tech figured that problem out really quickly and got it taken care of. He had to order a little hinge for the seal. Our refrigerator is working great now. From the time we submitted the claim until the refrigerator was repaired, that took three days which was pretty quick. That issue was handled great.

    We also had a plumbing experience with AHS and I was a little disappointed in that one. Right after we moved in, we had a drain pipe that was leaking upstairs. AHS wouldn’t take care of the plumbing pipe. It was 150 bucks that had to come out of my pocket. AHS should be more specific on what they cover and what they don't cover. On their sheet, it says that if there's any broken plumbing, they will replace it. In my case, it was a pipe that was broken and they wouldn't pay for that pipe to be replaced. I was kind of dumbfounded by that one. My other insurance took care of all the abatement and everything so it came out okay.

    Anybody buying a new or older house should make sure they get something for the home. If you walk into a home that you bought with appliances that are a little bit older, you would definitely want to have something to fall back on. We moved in and we had the refrigerator problem and the little plumbing problem. Now I'm going to be getting a hold of AHS again because I want them to do a check on the dishwasher because I'm having some issues with that. The appliances are older.

    When I did the claim online, it was before Thanksgiving and the holiday was coming up. It wasn't something that was a total emergency, so I told them to call me after Thanksgiving and we would set up a day and the time. When the repair guy came, the service was timely and he took care of the problem. The outlet, and what caused the breaker to trip was because one of the breakers wasn't strong enough to carry the load. He went to Lowe's, got another one, put it in and it didn't kick off. That helped a lot. My microwave burned out too.

    The repair guy also helped with another problem with a live wire that was hanging from an empty house next door. It was over my car. He called Cleco and got them out here. He was very professional. Whenever I had a problem, I called American Home Shield and it has always been great. I've been having them for several years and I've never had a problem. They always came out and took care of it just like the first time I called them, which was for my cooktop. They were gonna replace it and I said, "Look. If I could turn it on and use the thing, I'm happy."

    My wife works with a rental company and some of her homeowners had Home Shield. According to her, they were very satisfied with their service. We've had it for several years now and we have been very satisfied, too. When an appliance breaks, we call American Home Shield first and then they send the appropriate person out. Of course, we don't know the people that Home Shield appoints either but they pick somebody who is qualified. So far, we've been satisfied with them. Their techs always made the repairs appropriate.     I had an outlet that shorted out, so all my outside units were not working. The GFCI blew. The contractor came out and checked and tested everything. They had to order the parts and then about four days later, they came and replaced the outside units and the GFCI that was tripped. This claim process worked great. But for air conditioning, it was horrible. The coil went bad but AHS wouldn't replace it. So we had to replace the whole unit. They only covered $700 but the unit cost four grand. There was another instance when I had them send me a check to replace the coil in the AC because they said they couldn't find it. I know a guy that owns a AC company, and he called the supply house and they had several in stock. So it was a blatant lie. They wanted to get the money.

    The sink was stopped up. I submitted a claim online and I was given the number to call the contractor so I called them. The tech from Budget Rooter who came out was thorough, polite, and respectful. He came with a mask on and covering on his shoe. He got the sink cleared up. He's the only person I've had from American Home Shield that’s been that way. We’ve had some characters in here from them. A couple of years ago, we had a contractor here who wasn't very nice. Also, he didn’t get the product fixed. I ended up having to get my own plumber and I still had to pay the $100 service fee. Other than that, everybody's been pretty much okay.

    American Home Shield's rep was very polite and professional. She took down my information and told me who the service was going to be through. She then told me to expect a call. The claim went very smoothly. TAZ had to replace the wax seal on our commode that was leaking. The tech knew what he was doing. He wore masks and gloves which I requested and he was in and out. He had to go to the store to get another inner ring because we have an older style house but he was great. He did his job and left. Things have been working perfectly since then. AHS is worth it. We're not thrilled that the amount we have to pay, the deductible has gone up over the years. Other than that, we've had good success with them. There are always businesses and people that suck but AHS is definitely something you should consider.

    When the five-year warranty ran out of our home ran out, I went over to American Home Shield. I'm very happy. We've had American Home Shield for probably six years. I use and trust them. They're very responsive if sometimes the teams that get sent out do not necessarily know what they're doing and are not able to diagnose it right away at first. They've fixed my dryer, my washing machine and my refrigerator. Then the repair I had was for a Frigidaire double oven and the last one was the fourth attempt to repair it. Finally, they were able to figure out what was going on.

    A man named Thomas came by himself to work on our faucet. It was totally loose and was corroded around the edges. He brought the box in with the faucet, left it under my sink and said he'd be right back. He spent about 50 minutes out in his truck talking on the phone with someone. I went out the door to check on him because I thought he got sick as he wasn’t coming back in. I don't like for people not to do things properly. I was afraid that he was using some time that he didn't need to be, but evidently he was trying to talk to his boss. He had to find out more information on what he had to do. I feel like he worked hard but I was afraid he was sort of unsure of himself. I don’t think AHS should send someone out if they aren't real sure of what they're doing. On another claim, I’ve had to get a stove and oven. That has not been delivered yet but AHS was very good about attending to that and caring for it.

    The furnace wasn't blowing hot air. Fast Heating & Cooling came out less than a day after I submitted my claim to American Home Shield. The tech who came out, Tim, had done an early like systems check a month before so I recognized him and he recognized me. It was good. The issue with the igniter was the wiring came undone a little bit and he showed me what to do in case it happens again, which was helpful.

    In a particular incident, the plumbing guy and the dishwashing guy have been fighting back and forth saying the claim was not their problem. It was a dishwasher problem but then they said the dishwasher problem was a plumbing problem. It's been going back and forth for about a month or two. I got ahold of American Home Shield and they are going to send the dishwasher guy back out again to document everything then go from there to see if it's really a plumbing issue or not. From that perspective, it's frustrating.

    I do my claims online but once in a while, I do it by phone. American Home Shield is pretty great overall. It's fast and efficient. The technician was good. With exception to the particular incident mentioned, the other issues that I've had were okay. They bring out somebody here right away and fix the problem. But sometimes, I feel like the people they contract are not really listening to us and are not figuring out what the real problem is.

    American Home Shield has helped me with my AC unit. We got two of those and one or the other usually requires service every summer. Recently, one of the units wasn't coming on and we got two up in the attic. It seems like every year, the igniter on one or the other goes bad. Rescue Your Air came out the same day, which I did not expect. The guy must have been hanging around the block somewhere. It was usually the next day or so. He worked on it. It's fine now. American Home Shield also replaced an oven.

    I entered my request early hours in the morning on a Monday (5:30). AHS assigned it and soon after North West Aircare opened, they called me and we had it scheduled early afternoon.     I've utilized American Home Shield quite a bit. It's a great asset. The house is getting older, and then I just lost my husband, it’s like, “Oh my goodness, I don't know what to do, where to call, how to call. Oh my God, is it covered?” The first thing that happens is calling and seeing if it’s covered. Overall, my experience has been great. The last company that came out was Geo Plumbing. There was a leak in the upper bathroom shower, and it caused secondary damage on the ceiling in the kitchen. When the plumber came out, he determined that it wasn't a leak, but a drip. He fixed the faucet.

    The room has been empty for two months, but when we went into the bathroom, the faucet somehow was turned the opposite way. I don't know how, except the kids are back and forth in that room. I still had a drip. The secondary damage that was caused, that was completed. The plumber didn't have to do anything with that because we figured out where it was coming from. Where you have the hot and cold water, I just have one round circle that you turn to get to the hot and cold. That’s where the drip is. He said he was gonna come back and change it, but he never did.

    I called the plumber before I called American Home Shield and he said that it was an add-on. It wasn’t a non-repair. The bottom line is I paid $75, and I still have a drip. Whether they do it as an add-on or come back out, I'm not paying another $75. Geo Plumbing called me earlier this afternoon, and I told them I will call them back within an hour, but time got away. I plan to call them this evening. Even if he can't come until Monday, that's fine too.

    I have been protected with American Home Shield for quite some time. It was my first house and I've been in this house for 10 years. There were some things that weren’t covered and some things that were. I'm okay with that. I’ve had a washing machine as well as a microwave replaced before. The thing with the microwave was a double whammy. They had to replace the microwave and the oven. It wasn’t what I’m was expecting, but I appreciated it because it was an all-in-one. However, I don't know if they changed management or if it's a new company, but it seems a little different. When I had a refrigerator issue, Home Shield came out and fixed the motherboard, but that wasn't the problem. I had a leak inside of the refrigerator.

    American Home Shield had sent me an email and said that they couldn’t repair it, so they were gonna replace it, which I thought, “Awesome.” GE Appliances is where they get it from. Now, this has been since July, so I’ve been calling back and forth. They didn’t have the sterling silver in stock. I even settled for the black because the top of my microwave is black. I wasn’t gonna go crazy over a refrigerator. I wanted a white one, but I would have accepted the black one and then all of a sudden, “Black one’s not available.” “Okay. I’ll wait.” I’ve been waiting and waiting. I was gonna write a letter to the company, but I couldn't get a home address. I ended up contacting the Better Business Bureau.

    COVID messed up life for everybody. I understand COVID and I don't have a problem with that, but since July? That’s a long time. Now they're telling me they want to offer me an e-card. The e-card is from Lowe's and they're only offering $998 on it. The refrigerator was here when I got here and the type that I have is 1,428. I asked them, “So, is GE Profile the only place you can get it from?” If they're gonna give me a Lowe’s e-card, the refrigerator is at Lowe’s. I’ve seen it. I even tried to check it out on Black Friday and see if maybe it went down some. It didn’t. If I accept the e-card and go to Lowe’s, my issue is I have to put up an additional $600 and then I have to have them deliver it and hook it up.

    Also, if they’re gonna give me a Lowe’s e-card, why not just make the e-card for the amount of the refrigerator? Now, if they said at the beginning, “Well, we're not gonna replace it. We're only gonna give you 900,” then I would have had to deal with that, but they said, “We're going to replace it.” It has to be replaced. I was definitely satisfied with American Home Shield before the refrigerator issue and I have recommended it, but they should get me my refrigerator.

Generally, my claims have turned out quite right for 75 bucks. But there have been too many of them lately probably because our house is getting older. For a while, I didn't see the value of Home Shield because nothing broke down. But a slew of things broke down and Home Shield has proven its worth most of the time.

    I had a big issue with my refrigerator and so many people came to my house to say that it wasn't working. It took forever. AHS finally did the right thing, but I was without a refrigerator during COVID and it wasn't working for about a month. It was so unnecessary before they declared what they were gonna do. I was calling them all the time but they were not reaching out to me to tell me what was gonna happen. So I was really disappointed in their service and the way they tackled this whole thing with my refrigerator. In the past, they've always been quite efficient and good. But this time, it was terrible not having a fridge with everybody in the house. So I'm not happy with that. Appliance Tech was the third company that came out and they were great. They did whatever they had to do and then AHS finally took care of it. But I still like AHS. I would still tell my friends it's great if you're not fix-it type of people.

    I had a bad thermostat. It was easy submitting a claim with AHS for that one. The tech replaced the thermostat on the wall. He troubleshot the problem and he did a great job.     I had a leak in my ceiling. The first company that American Home Shield sent was nice but they didn't have a resolution for the leak. The tech was not experienced. It was a younger person who was sent out and he didn't help. So, I called AHS and said that I wanted a second opinion which I know I'm able to do with them. They said "sure" and sent somebody from Accu-Plumbing. The guy was older and highly experienced. He did such a thorough diagnosis of what could be happening and checked so much more than the first guy. He found what the issue was and diagnose it. I was very pleased that they sent him and I kept their card because of how pleased I was.

    For all the 15 years that I've had American Home Shield, I would recommend them. There are times that I didn't think they sent someone that I was pleased with. But, I've learned that I could just call them and say that the technicians didn't know what they were doing and I want things fixed right. They have always responded. Also, the cost goes up some every year. I've talked people into getting a home warranty more than I've talked them into going with AHS. Some of those I've talked to have gone directly to AHS because of my recommendations. Many of my family and friends have gone with a different home warranty though because those were a bit cheaper. I probably get better service, but the costs are high.

    Sometimes, I have to ask for a second opinion with AHS. They can't control every single vendor who wants to work with them. If I have something that's outside of what would be covered, like fixing the outside of my gutters, and I'm very pleased with one of the vendors that I've had work on something with AHS, I keep their information. I've never left AHS all this time and it's been worth it for me as a single person.

    The repairmen came right on out and took care of what needed to be taken care of. Both of them did a good job and everything's working fine now. They were professional and they cleaned up behind themselves as well. Normally, everything works fine with our claims. The only difficulty we had this time around was at first, each company that American Home Shield tried to schedule a repair with told them that they would come out. After we didn't hear from any of the companies, we called them. A couple of them told us they didn't work for them anymore.

    That was disappointing and it upset us about what was going on, but American Home Shield eventually resolved the problem. They got a company that was reputable and they kept their scheduled appointment. We also have another claim, and we're still waiting on the guy with Appliance Ace to return to work on our washing machine. He had to order a couple of parts, but we haven't heard from him and we need to call him. All in all, we had a problem with those last scheduling, but all the years we've been with the warranty company, they've been good. I have recommended three people to American Home Shield.

    The dishwasher was kind of turning on and off whenever it felt like it, and the keypad wasn't working. Axis came out and took a look at it. Surprisingly, they took some time to assess the issue. I thought it was going to be a quick visit. They told me it looked like the panel needed to be replaced. We got it ordered in and it took about a week and a half for them to get the new part. Then they scheduled an appointment the following week because it was Thanksgiving week when it came in. They came in the following week and they were pretty quick in getting it replaced and everything working right. So overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the whole process.

    I also submitted a claim when there was a leak in the refrigerator. They came out and took care of it. The claims process has been pretty good. When I submitted my claim over the phone, it took a little bit longer. But then I was able to get access to my online account and submit a request via online, and it was pretty smooth after that.     A contractor came out for our heater and they said that the AC also needed to be changed. American Home Shield won't cover it unless we open up another ticket for it so we put in one. We’re still waiting for the recommendation for the AC but it's been two weeks of waiting. It’s too cold to wait. We got the AC fixed already. I just need them to look at the AC, tell them the recommendation, and have them reimburse us. Also, every time I call American Home Shield and I say something, they keep repeating what I say.     The garbage disposal in my house was making ridiculous sounds. While I was looking into it, I also noticed that there was some water coming out from one of the pipes underneath, going into the sewer line. I went to American Home Shield's website and it was a hassle-free experience. On my own, I was able to create a ticket online. They confirmed it through emails and text messages. They scheduled this company, BWS Heating and Air Conditioning, very easily. The company called me the next day. They had the name of the guy and a picture and then they emailed me.

    Around Thanksgiving, they told me that it's going to be delayed. They offered me a better date that suited my schedule and the guy was here first thing on a Friday morning after Thanksgiving. He looked at the garbage disposal, talked to me, and then he said he would take care of it. He went in for an authorization. He also took all the right precautions related to COVID. He was masked and covered all his shoes. He took care of stuff, educated me what needs to take place, and got the work done in two hours. It was a very good experience. I was very pleased and happy. I have tried a few home warranty companies before and by far, American Home Shield is the best. I'm really impressed.

    I had a small leak under the sink in my bathroom and the contractor scheduled the appointment relatively quickly. They called me and got back to me. They were also right on time. The gentleman who came out and fixed the leak went above and beyond. He had to exchange out the thing that holds the water in the sink and he had all the parts in his car. He was even a little bit worried because the silver color didn't 100% match, which I thought was very kind of him. I didn’t care because you can't tell the difference. So, he was great.

    American Home Shield sent somebody out to fix my microwave above the stove and compared to the most recent one, it wasn’t as good. The repairman had to call in a couple of times to ask some questions. It made me a little nervous because I wasn't 100% sure he knew what he was doing but the plumber guy knew exactly what to do. AHS is affordable, prompt and does good work.

    I have a smell in my garbage disposal, and I had a faucet that was leaking. My home is very old from the 40s. So, the techs couldn't get the parts to fix the leak. They ordered it, and it took about a month. Then, the guy who did it was awesome. The customer service side of it was awesome in that way. But the part they ordered, the handle only turns the wrong way. It doesn't turn the right way. Our garbage disposal never got fixed.

    When I first bought the house and got the warranty, submitting claims was very difficult. My heat wasn’t working. When they finally came, it was 54 degrees in the house. Then, they couldn’t fix it because it’s such an old house. So, they were just gonna pay me out for it, but they weren’t gonna pay me out for the cost of replacing the heat for what an old unit would have been. It ended up being a huge hassle.

    Finally, just because I'm in California, they had to pay me the full amount. They were going to try to just have me get someone else to kind of like shimmy it together, and then they would pay for that. They just gave me the money so then I had someone come in and completely redo the system. So, it just covered a portion. They weren't gonna give me any money until I showed them a receipt that had the repair done the way they wanted the repair done as opposed to the value of the item.

I didn't know how long it was supposed to take before I heard from the company. Then they had to find another company out of the area. AHS could do communication within seven days of like, “Did your person contact you?” I would have been like, “Oh, no.” Until it was finally a month, and I said, “Why hasn’t anyone contacted me?” That would have helped.

    We had trouble with some of our sockets, and Budget Electric did a fine job. They came out, fixed the issues very quickly, and that was it. We thought we blew a couple of fuses or a circuit breaker. They took care of all of that. The claim submission is really simple. But some of American Home Shield's customer service is pathetic. I was a real estate agent so I referred a lot of people to them, partly because their rates were great, and they covered a lot of stuff. But I would not recommend them at this point in time. There are other companies that serve their customers better.

    I've had several companies and AHS, if I took my whole experience and put a grade from 1 to 10, 1 being terrible, 10 being fabulous, they are about a 5. They're about 50%. They get a C. But that's the overall service. I've had billing problems. I've had other issues. They didn't work very well. AHS replaced the refrigerator, dishwasher, and part of a water heater. They wouldn't do the whole thing. I had things break down within a year and a half and a lot of things had to be replaced. They couldn't be repaired. They just fizzled out. So, AHS did a good job with that. Because I had some high-end appliances. I had Bosch and Samsung appliances, and they replaced those. My refrigerator cost me $1,500 because it was a nice, big, stainless steel Samsung one.

    They all cost money, and in these things, the name of the game is to be cost-effective. Have better training for their customer service personnel, have more customer service personnel so you don't have to call and wait forever. I had that experience several times. I didn't like that at all. I got charged a couple of times for a service call, but they didn't do anything. They just came out, looked and said, “Oh, we don't do that kind of work.” And charged me $75. I didn't appreciate that. That could be a lot better. There are a lot of things that could be better. They don't pay these customer service people very much. They’re entry-level positions. So, it's hard to get quality people if you don't pay them decently.

    My oven is not working properly, and it needs a new part. Home Shield was supposed to order the part. They told me they ordered it on the 4th. But I still haven't heard back about what is going on with it. Typically, it takes them forever to figure out if the part can come in. And then, if the part comes in, I never hear if the part came in or not. I have to call them to find out if the part came in.

    It was like with my cooktop. My cooktop cracked. They told me they would replace the part. I said, “No, just replace the part. I'm okay with waiting for you to replace the part.” But they never called me about the part. They never got it. I had to call them and say, “My cooktop has been broken for about four months. When are you going to find the part?” “Oh, we're sorry, we couldn't get the part.” “But no one called me to tell me you couldn't get the part.” I'm just hoping it won't be four months that I gotta wait for them to find the part. Also, I'm usually on hold for at least an hour. Do not even bother with Home Shield and call someone who could do it cheaper.

Then they had to come back, and I had to call them to check on rescheduling before they’d be scheduled and came back out. They fixed the problem a week later. The toilet performs good now. If you own your home, you're going to need the service. American Home Shield's going to save you money in the long run. But at times, it’s gonna be a little difficult and a lot long and drawn out.

    Mr. Electric Twyman came out for the duplex plug underneath the sink in the kitchen. It needed to be replaced. One side didn't work, and the other side didn't look good. It was that bad. It was there since 1968. That was for my dishwasher and my garbage disposal. Another thing was we paid for American Home Shield for several months, and then this outlet down here decided to give us a fit. The tech talked to us ahead of time because he couldn't come out immediately. He had other things going. But a few days later, he was able to schedule us in and he told us to run an extension cord on the one that was still working so we could run the dishwasher. We didn't use it. We unplugged the garbage disposal and worked with that. But at least we got the dishwasher going until he got out here. He was quick and knew was he was doing. We were pleased with him.

    We have many accounts with American Home Shield. I called two weeks ago and asked for servicing on three appliances in my home. The freezers in my fridge are not working. The dishwasher, for some reason, wasn't working. That one was easy to solve. So, that was a no-brainer. I guess somebody turned the water off under my sink for the dishwasher. That was all done. But then, the headache was I called and the gal that was the agent I was speaking with did not understand that my hood was different than my cooktop. So, she put the order in that my cooktop was not working. I never did say cooktop. I was trying to help her understand. A cooktop is something that sits on top of the counter, and not a range with the exhaust fan attached to the stove.

    As soon as I figured out when I called the appliance company, and that was supposed to be, originally, with West Coast Appliance, I said, “I'm trying to schedule this appointment this week with you guys. You should have all the claim information right there.” The rep said, “Okay, that's fine. But the hood can't be with us because that's electrical, and we only do appliances.” So, I called AHS again and I said, “We need to fix this. I need the cooktop.” I argued with this young lady. I was on the phone for an hour, but she did not still understand the difference from the cooktop and a range with the hood separate. She said, “Oh, no, I have to cancel the whole claim and start over.” So, she went ahead and scheduled only for the cooktop, and she canceled everything else. I sat waiting for three hours with no one showing up because she canceled the whole thing without calling me and helping me understand.

    I explained it very clearly. A range is a slide-in unit that has the oven and cooktop together. Sometimes, the exhaust fan’s built-in there. The cooktop is on the counter. Supposedly, the lady finally put in the hood. So, when I called, they changed the appliance company to AT Appliance because they had somebody that could do the hood. They scheduled that. But then, they didn't have the rest of my repair with the freezer and the dishwasher. She screwed that up. So, now, West Coast is scheduled for my hood. As far as AT Appliance, I had to call back and reschedule the whole thing all over again.

    Finally, they came out and took care of the freezer, the dishwasher, and the hood. West Coast is at my house right now trying to fix my hood. In the last couple of years, I have had the worst customer service with AHS. We lived in another home, and AHS was fine. The customer service was handled very nicely. They knew what they were saying and what they were talking about, and understood what the service call should be about. But since then, the last couple of years have been terrible. With the customer service person that I had on the phone, she would make me not want to talk about AHS ever to my friends. That was that terrible. I'm really ticked off because she got the whole thing screwed up and did not say, “Okay, so let's reschedule everything else.” She neglected that on her part.

    On the other service calls, my husband’s the one that’s been working on that situation. With the other two policies we have for the other homes that we own, I don't think there's been any issue at all. I'm really ticked off about this experience, though. On top of that, I asked for a supervisor. There was no supervisor to speak to to try and help the agent who is misinformed or doesn't have knowledge about that type of appliance, or about what AHS is offering for service calls. She did not listen to the customer. If she's an agent that represents the company, she should have knowledge of different types of equipment and appliance pieces. She should be able to know, “Okay, I have a commercial oven. And if I give her the model, she should be able to pick that right up and figure that out.” She’s not resourceful with her stuff that she has in her office when she's on the phone with a client.

    The Sears tech earnestly tried to fix the dishwasher, which was in great shape except for it would turn on and no water would come in. We had that problem once a long time back and somebody else fixed it. This time, he replaced about three things on it and it should have worked, but it didn't. The issue turned out to be a panel and it had to be replaced but there was no replacement for my model dishwasher so they had to replace the dishwasher. But the replacement is not anything close to our Maytag dishwasher. We had a Maytag with all digital stuff and touch and the replacement has a lever and a knob. And the quality is pretty low. We could have gone up and paid money but if we did that, then AHS wouldn't pay for the installation and all that kind of stuff so we took the replacement.

    I was on hold for over an hour and a half and got hung up on three times trying to get hold of the person that does the buying but once we determined that we had to replace it, everybody that I talked to is fine about that. Also, nobody notified us the techs were coming. We didn't get any more emails and then, 15 minutes before they came, they called us and said they were coming to bring the replacement and install it. But they were very polite and they had on masks and gloves - except for one who didn't have gloves and who took his mask down a few times. The rest of them did a really great job. They were very fast and organized.

    But we've had no furnace or air conditioner for four months now. We have inspections done every year and when somebody came to inspect, he said we need a new furnace and air conditioner. We called AHS and they sent somebody out. He flipped the switch on the furnace and he said it started up, therefore we don't need anything. Also, we decided we had to do the duct because there was some kind of growth in there that was making me sick with allergy. The techs could not guarantee that just cleaning it would get rid of all of the growth so we decided on new ductwork. But AHS wouldn't cover the ductwork.

    Another guy was sent out who told me the air conditioner has to be replaced and the furnace has a part in it which has to be replaced with a part that will match the air condition they plan on putting in. We were gonna just do the furnace and wait on the air conditioner till we need it but the furnace part has to be the right one so the tech said we can't. He told us he was going to give the report to AHS that we need a new furnace, etc, but we haven't heard one word back from AHS. We've decided to just hang in there until the virus gets better enough where we're not afraid to have somebody come in and do all this stuff. The service people that AHS uses are great and the people within the company I've dealt with are very good. But it has not been a good experience with AHS and they're also extremely expensive.

    There were three appliances that we needed help with. That was the refrigerator, the stove and the dishwasher. For the stove, the guy said it was just a bad bulb. I had an extra bulb so we changed it and the bulb has been working. The refrigerator has a bottom drawer for the freezer. The seal on the bottom drawer was faulty and the air and moisture were getting into the freezer. It was getting encrusted with ice. He came back and replaced the seal on just the freezer drawer. The dishwasher was the one that was a bit tricky. There were two problems with it. There are two washer arms and he replaced the lower one. He didn't say what was wrong. We had to wait for the part between the first and second visit.

    It turned out that there was a problem outside the dishwasher that was affecting it. He said that some of the problems inside the dishwasher had to do with excess calcium in the water supply so he instructed me on what product to buy to try to clear up the minerals. I did that once and it did help. He seemed to know what all the problems were immediately and addressed all of them. He was pleasant, professional, very knowledgeable and very skillful. We went through everything and he listened to everything. We had to change both appointments a few times and the company was responsive in changing the appointments for me. He still showed up on the right day and time even though I had to change it. They gave me notice right before he showed up too to let me know that he was coming soon.

    AHS is a good service. I'm glad that I have it because if I didn't, I probably would have just bought a new dishwasher without fixing it. In this case, that would have been kind of a waste. There was a problem inside but that did not require replacing the machine. For the water problem, I would not have revealed that without the technician coming. I was a little bit surprised that I had a co-pay but that was because I didn't look at the details of the warranty when I got it a year ago. I didn't know until I made the appointment that I was gonna have to spend more money. But it was still less than what I would have spent if I didn't have the warranty. I would have spent at least 600 bucks but I spent 75 bucks instead plus the cleaning solution which I needed anyway. Overall, the 75 bucks was worth it. As far as the future goes, I'm not inclined to renew because I feel like if I pay 500, 500, 500, I'd rather put the money towards replacing the appliance than paying for warranties.

    ***AHS will probably reply to this review (as they have to others) saying they'd be glad to discuss the issue with me. If that's the case, AHS you can call me. I've reached out enough and I'm not jazzed by the results. Here are my request #s: ** Filed service request on 11/6, still no resolution. Appliance company has been here 3 times, each time they determine the issue is something different than they thought so they have to schedule another visit, but they have to go through AHS each time (they send a diagnosis report to AHS, and AHS gives them the OK to schedule another visit).

    Meanwhile, on one of the visits, the appliance company determined at least part of the issue is electrical, so now we're trying to work with AHS on both an electrician and appliance company. We STILL haven't had an electrician come (it's been 33 days). We've been bounced between two electrical companies AHS has assigned. Both companies have been BARELY reachable by phone (the first not at all, the second just barely). I've spent over two hours on the phone with AHS trying to expedite the electrician visit to no avail. They were supposed to come today - by late afternoon I hadn't heard anything so I call them, and the electrician tells me his guys are on a job 30 mins away and getting to us is just too much of a drive. Maybe Saturday. Maybe Monday. What kind of service is that?

    Back to the appliance company. It's been a week since the their last visit and no one had reached out to schedule the next (4th!) visit. Called them to see when they'd be back out, and they said AHS hasn't even communicated back with them. Mind you, I have been on the phone with AHS (regarding the electrical side of this same case) 3 times in the last week. Why didn't any of their customer service reps catch that there was an action item related to the appliance company and address it?!

    Between the appliance company, the electrician, and AHS, none of the parties involved seems capable of communicating with one another or taking initiative to get the customer's problem resolved. Each time there's the smallest issue or complexity, the process will stall and the customer will have to call AHS to jump-start the process back up again. Even then, you may still be unsuccessful and find yourself having to call back again days later. Each time, you'll be on the phone 20-30 minutes and placed on multiple holds while AHS reaches out to the contractor to "verify" the information you've provided. AHS does not care and takes no initiative to ensure your issue is resolved. Prepare to be frustrated, have your time wasted, and have your issue remain unresolved months later.

    AHS left an active leak from a pipe in my home for 3 days. On the 3rd day I paid a plumber $623 to fix it. AHS has refused to reimburse this cost. This started on 11/30/2020 when I discovered a leaking pipe in my wall. It was squirting hot water everywhere. I immediately called AHS and reported the problem and the urgency to have it fixed under my account. I turned off the hot water to the home, which reduced the flow of water but the pipe was still leaking. They assigned my order to a plumber who could not come out until 12/15.

    I could not wait 2 weeks, so I canceled the appointment and I called AHSevery day (12/1, 12/2, 12/3, and 12/4) trying to get someone out to fix the pipe, as well as ask to speak to a supervisor. I told everyone I spoke to that I needed a plumber out NOW because my pipe was actively leaking. I was told I needed to wait 48 hours for a plumbing service to call me back. I told them it was urgent and they said they had flagged the work order as urgent.

    On 12/2 I told them I had waited 48 hours, please send someone. They disputed this and said my order had only been sitting in the queue for 1 day. I had them review the order. I requested to be reimbursed after hiring someone to fix the pipe. A representative said my order needed to sit in the queue for an additional 48 hours before that could happen. During my calls, everyone I spoke to said they would call me back. Nobody from AHS or a plumbing service ever once called me back. Not even once did anyone call me back. I had an open leaky pipe inside my home and my family did not have hot water from 11/30 until 12/2.

    On 12/2, I was left with no choice but to hire a local plumber to come out and repair the pipe to stop the water damage and to restore hot water to my home. I asked to speak to an AHS supervisor on each occasion and I was either disconnected, hung up on or told that a supervisor was not available. On 12/4 AHS said they could not cover my plumbing expenses because I did not wait for their approval before having a plumber come out. I explained to her that I had waited 3 days with an open leaking hot water pipe in my home and it was causing damage the entire time it was leaking and my family did not have hot water. I told her I had called AHS every day and told them of the urgency and active leak. I had not heard back from AHS or a plumber for that entire time.

    I had no choice but to fix the leak as I could not allow water to continue to damage to my home. She did not care and said they could not reimburse me because I did not wait for approval before hiring a plumber. I then waited on hold for 60 minutes in hopes of speaking to a supervisor. I never did get to speak to a supervisor, instead I got to speak to the same representative some more. I called on 12/8 and asked for a reimbursement of my service fee of $100. They agreed to refund that fee. I never got to speak to a supervisor despite asking to on 11/30, 12/1, 12/2, 12/3, and 12/4.

    I submit claims online and it's a simple process, but American Home Shield should cover more than what they cover. It was a lot that was needed to be done with my last order. Drain GO came out three times. First time they came out, they didn't find a problem. Second time they came out, "Oh, yeah. You definitely have a problem. I'll need to replace your cartridge." They replaced the cartridge and two weeks later, something started leaking again. They said I needed a regulator, an expansion tank and a pipe. The only thing that American Home Shield paid for is the regulator. I had to come out of pocket with $579. My home is only eight years old, so it's not that it's out of code. They wouldn't cover some parts. I've had other claims, but they were minor stuff, so they covered it. All in all, you won't know what they will or will not cover until you come across things.

    We've had Upland Pool come out for our pool two times now. The first time was for the motor on the pump and the second was because the filter was leaking. Both times they were fantastic. For the filter, the first time they came out, they explained to us that the filter is very old and parts are hard to come by if you can come by them. They put in a claim to American Home Shield for a newer type of filter to replace that one. Then, they were out either that next day or the day after with a new filter.

    I'm fine with AHS but recently, we had our water heater replaced and just last month, we had the garage door opener replaced. They were both covered items. But both of them were not up to California standard and AHS only replaces what you have so we had to pay an additional fee to get them up to code. In California, if you replace the garage door opener, because of all the wildfires, it has to be able to operate 20 times on battery backup, which our old opener did not have. The new opener was 1,000 and AHS gave us 700 towards the new one. We had to pay 100 and something dollars to upgrade. That happened with the water heater too. Other than that, AHS is good. We had them when we bought our home in 2000 and the deductible has gone up but the convenience of me not having to do some of the repairs is worth it to me.

    The guy came out the first day but he couldn’t get it fixed. He was able to bypass the system so I could at least have heat a while 'cause it’s cold here. He told me they had to order a part. He was a professional. He explained to me what the issue was and told me what they needed to do to get it fixed. He also showed me how to work my thermostat and how to get the most efficient out of my thermostat. He was very proficient, very knowledgeable and answered all the questions that I had for him. Then they called me the very next morning and said, “The part is in. Can we come back out today?” I called them on a Sunday afternoon then that Tuesday, they came back to finish it. It was excellent. This time was very pleasant. I didn’t get the runaround. I guess AHS is changing their process on the way they do things. I’m pleased with them.

    The guy who came out was supposed to check my plumbing and the email he sent us was something different from what he told the insurance company. So, we were trying to get it straightened out. The lady told the insurance lady that she didn't want anything to do with it because she sent paperwork over already. SAP, the contractor, sent out someone else. We just bought the house and we were trying to see what was going on with our sewer lining under the house. I just had a bad experience with the contractor in trying to get my information.     American Home Shield advertised a check-up for the furnace for $75. The guy that came out was really good. After he left and the furnace kicked on, I was downstairs and it made a noise. So I called them. They came back in here. The door was caulked and he fixed it. Last week, I got two emails from American Home Shield wanting me to pay $75 for them rescheduling me for furnace check-ups, and I already had that and I already paid the $75. Now, I haven't heard any more, they haven't taken any money out of my account, and I don't know if this is coming from them or from somebody else. I did call him on the first one and they said, "No, you're not even scheduled. You were done in October. No, we don't have nothing on here for you."

    American Home Shield's claim submission process is really easy. I was surprised they had Sears come in here because I didn't think there was any Sears people still around. If they can't fix it, then they usually have someone that comes in and takes care of it. I've only had that happen once. The only thing is a lot of times when you call, everything is automated and it seems like forever to get through. You just want to talk to somebody sometimes.

    I use the web when making a claim with American Home Shield. I did one recently for a broken toilet and that was very easy. The guy who came out was great and he repaired the toilet. It's working well now. AHS is good and I tell all my friends to get it. It's just that when there's a one-off, sometimes it's hard because there's no real recommendation. Sometimes they'll send out a crew that can't handle the problem if it's a weird situation. When we had our oven go bad, we had three crews come out.     My most recent claim was for a malfunctioning dryer. It was turning itself off. Unfortunately, it’s not the first time we used them. I usually book it online, and minutes later, I have a confirmation that somebody was assigned to our claim. Usually within 24 hours, somebody contacts us at least to make an appointment. It doesn't take them long before they send somebody. We also understand that sometimes, it takes a little while because of parts. They have to order spare parts and whenever they have the spare parts, they come and finish their job.

    On the same week that we had a claim for the dryer, we also had a problem with our fridge. It wasn't making any ice and after the ice machine was fixed, it wasn't bringing any water. We consulted American Home Shield three times in two weeks. The person helping us with the fridge has also come in the past, so we know him. Our interaction was very good. The repair people are always good too. They're polite, professional, and very punctual. They follow all the personal protection guidelines for COVID as well.     I had an interesting call because originally, I did the request online and American Home Shield assigned me an appliance service. When the guy called, he said, “You know what? This isn't gonna work. Let me get someone else over.” and then he said to me, “It'll be a week and a half, two weeks before I can get out there.” As soon as I called American Home Shield back, the girl went, “What do you mean a week and a half out? I'll get you someone right away.” She canceled the first guy and went right to the next guy. It was unbelievable. The next guy called me within an hour and a half and said, “I can come by now, but within an hour.”

    I said, “Within an hour?” This was an older man who knew what he was doing. He wasn't a young kid who was new in the business. He's always busy, but he came the same day. He’s such a personable guy and he did good electrical work as well. I bought a thermometer for the refrigerator and now I know exactly what the temperature is. That's also how I knew there was a problem with my refrigerator freezer. It wasn't holding the temperature correctly. The reason it wasn't holding it right was because the gaskets weren't properly closing. The refrigerator was not level, which was a stupid thing, but I never would've thought about that. When the guy saw it, he goes, “Well, it's out of level.” I said, “What do you mean it’s out of level?”

    He goes, "Well, you can see it." and then he did all kinds of things to level the refrigerator up, which is phenomenal. How many people are going to take the time to do that? He got the temperature right on. It was unbelievably good. In fact, it was over and above what the guy could have done. I was really happy with the guy. I have a warranty and I gave him a $20 tip. That's how good he was. It makes a difference when you get someone that's really good. You're paying for service, but you're getting a discount too. It's nice to get someone who comes over and does a nice job. I have two houses. I have another house that’s with American Home Shield too. They have someone coming out to the other house on Wednesday and I hope the other one is just as good.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for years. They used to send people out who were late and didn't know much. But we wrote to the home warranty and they changed the company. American Home Shield is fine. Otherwise, I will not be with them. The only problem is getting them on the line. When you get them on the phone, it’s fine. But you have to wait to get to them and that's the problem. It's not just American Home Shield though, it’s everybody. With this pandemic going on, it’s just messed up.

    Appliance Wizard came out twice. The first time was when we had an oven that would not heat and they put in a request for parts. The wrong part showed up. We could not locate an actual model number because then it got burned off on the plate. In the end, that oven was replaced. The second time they came out was because the microwave literally caught on fire. I'm still waiting for the replacement for that. That’s been over a month now. The Appliance Wizard people were very strong quality. The first person who looked at the microwave before it caught on fire was not good quality. He heated up some water, called it good then told me I needed to clean the microwave. Three days later, it caught on fire.

    To submit a claim to American Home Shield via the internet is easy. But to talk to somebody takes you literally three hours of being on hold because there's an increased volume of calls. The same soundtrack is played over and over again. The response time is atrocious. When I got ahold of somebody last week, they couldn't answer the question about where the microwave is. They said that they are going to have somebody call me within 24 to 48 hours. It's been about 96 hours.

    American Home Shield also offers a payout but it is not the same stuff for what you have to pay out-of-pocket for it. And if you ask for payout, it doesn't include installation. That's an additional fee. In my case for my stove, it was an additional $400 that they paid for the stove on top of the extra $200 that I had to pay to get the stove versus what they gave me for payment. In my case, American Home Shield paid up more than they collected.

    Sears came for my stove and I liked the tech. He was a nice guy and he was very efficient. He knew right away what the problem was. There was a code that came up on the stove and he was able to look it up and see what it was. He ordered the part and then rescheduled my appointment. About a month after I moved into my house, I had air conditioning problems. It took five times of techs coming back before somebody could figure out what the issue was. The techs would leave and I would call them back. Then it would take two weeks for them to come again. One guy told me my filter was dirty and he put a new one in my unit. That was in June and July and it was miserable as I had no air conditioning. The service carrier AHS used then was absolutely horrible. Sears was great though.

    I was in the process of renewing my home warranty because when I originally bought the house, the company that they had put us with was already done. I just did some research. And I have a relative that uses the same company. So, American Home Shield came recommended as well. Recently, the icemaker stopped working. It didn’t make ice anymore. I filed a claim online and the website is good. It then told me that the contractor would make contact with me within 24 hours, which they did the very next day. SRL Services came out and looked at my icemaker on my refrigerator and my microwave oven. Their service was great. They contacted me the next day, made an appointment. They were out there within three days. And then they repaired it.

    I had another issue with the same icemaker three weeks later. Something froze up so the water was spraying and the icemaker was making a block of ice. I just contacted American Home Shield again and went through the same deal. The contractor contacted me the very next day, came back the next day, and fixed it. Since the second time they came out and did what the tech did, it’s working fine. We went from having no ice down to having ice. American Home Shield was great. I have made a couple claims and they both went off without a hitch.

    The refrigerator and freezer were not cooling properly. So, we filed the claim to American Home Shield. The GE representatives came out, and was able to make a repair to the unit and got it back operational. It seems to be okay at the moment. I generally like American Home Shield. The only complaint I really have is, when it comes to air conditioning, there's a real problem with the vendors that they have. If you're dealing with something like GE, you're fine, but when you start dealing with some AC problems, that's when I have some issues with them.

    A tech came here and was supposed to fix my bathroom, the shower, and the toilet. When he fixed my showerhead, he ended up turning my hot water to the cold water and the cold water to the hot water. I jumped in the shower that night and I wasn't too pleased. I was really pissed. I also don't know what he did with the toilet pressure but that wasn't set right. Every time I flush the toilet or run the shower, the water in the bathroom sink started running low. I called and let American Home Shield know. I needed somebody to come back out here. I was very displeased from the beginning because I kept calling AHS and was told that the best technician would be sent out.

    The guy who initially came did a great job but everybody's human and he made a mistake. American Home Shield didn't send someone right out here so I was very disappointed. They were not gonna send somebody out till such and such date. I was a little mad, but what could I do about it? The next person that came out was a young man and I showed him the problem. He agreed with me on the shower and I wanted him to fix the problem for me.

    As for the toilet, the young guy reversed my water pressure back. He checked the thing in the toilet and he explained to me the way the toilets are made now. He then had to put a new pump thing. I've been living in my home since '94 so everything is basically original. I would flush my toilet and the water level was up higher. With this new system that was put in, it makes the water level lower. I would have to hold the thing for the toilet down longer now for the water to go all the way down. I'm not gonna get that powerful flush I used to have ever again, which is fine. He also changed the pressure on my sink. When I turn my shower on or flush my toilet now, it does not affect my sink.

    When I called American Home Shield, I did not want to be charged another $75 to have somebody come out here to fix something. And I didn't appreciate the plumbing company handling it the way they did when I was not trying to say that their person was not good at what they did. They came here then they made a mistake the first time. When I did the review for him, I praised him highly. I gave him all the good standards because he did his job and was polite. It's just that he made a mistake.

    Despite my experience, I'm a happy client and I still talk highly of American Home Shield. I asked for someone to come reverse what was done wrong. It took them a little time to do it but it was done. Just yesterday I was speaking with a friend of mine when she was telling me she had PG&E and I was explaining to her that she needs to go with American Home Shield.

    Leak Seekers fixed my garbage disposal thing under the sink. That went really well. They came back out today because I had an issue going on outside. I didn't know whether it was coming from inside. The guy said that American Home Shield doesn't cover that 'cause he thinks that has something to do with the sprinkler system. But he fixed the issue upstairs which was fine. He did his job well.

    I'm having an issue with my refrigerator. I haven't heard anything back from the guy that serviced it. I was told from American Home Shield that he does not have the part that he said it needed. The lady was supposed to have been checking with the parts people today to confirm that they did not have the part so they can see whether or not they will put it on the replacement list. It's been since last week so I've been without refrigerator since. Other than that, everything has been good. Everybody's trying to do their part and make sure everything is going fine. I told somebody today to go ahead and call American Home Shield. It's good to have in spite of the long hold times especially for the appliance department. I'd be on hold for an hour and 20 minutes or more. But you just gotta wait 'cause the wait is worth it.

    The furnace wouldn't turn on and I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield. It was too hard to get through on the phone right now. They let me know right away who they assigned and then, they told me to give them a call if I don't hear from them within 24 hours. They always give me their phone number. The person came in and went right to it. He took precautions, as did I. He spent some time with the furnace and told me what the problem was. I already knew he had fixed it. Then, he spent some time fixing my thermostat, which was also messed up. So, I was all set to go. It was great. I've recommended AHS to quite a few people already so I've been very happy with them.

    American Home Shield didn’t cover what I thought they'd cover. There was an electrical issue that a home inspector found. He found three faults. The electrician came over and said that American Home Shield would pay for one. But these others weren't broken enough. So I had to pay cash for those. It's really easy to talk to somebody to sign up for American Home Shield but it's very hard to talk to a person when something's not right. Today, I tried to cancel it 'cause I sold my house. But I was not even sure if I did or not because after about 20 minutes on the phone, I kept getting put on hold. It was a bad connection. I could barely understand the conversation. But the person said that I'd be contacted by their cancellation department. So that was frustrating.

    The first claim we put in was a major mess. The faucet was leaking and a person came out. They looked at the sink, took it all apart, told us the parts would have to be ordered but never came back. We called and called and so did American Home Shield. They eventually replaced our money back into our account that we had paid for the claim. It's still a problem that we're going to have to call in now and this was like a year ago. Our first experience made us ask do we really want the home warranty. But we realized it was not American Home Shield, it was on the side of the contractor. Our second claim was the stove. The guy came in, replaced the element and did a visual check of everything. It's an electric stove and he made sure that everything was functioning properly, and that was great.

    The line from the icemaker of the refrigerator was leaking and the valve that you could turn the water off was corroded. The guy replaced the valve so that we could turn the water off from there if anything ever happened in the future. At the actual break where the water was coming out at the attachment of the refrigerator, he cut off the area that was cracked and was able to move it down then reattach it to the refrigerator. We had no problem with him at all and we've not had problems with American Home Shield. They had problems with their contractor that they were sending out and they told us they were no longer using that company.

    I had a blockage and the plumber came out, took pictures of my bathroom, walked outside and said that it was a main line blockage and that there was nothing he could do. He got in his truck and left. That cost me $100. He said there were no places to clean out but there were. I could have shown them to him but he didn’t ask. Then, when I called in to ask about that, I got somebody in the Caribbean from American Home Shield’s customer service, who was as rude as they could be. I told them that that wasn’t what happened but I was told that it was what they got. AHS needs to cut their ties with them.

    The first people who came out for the washer looked at it, said that it was throwing codes and they couldn’t do anything about it. They turned around and walked out. But when the second repair guy came out, he was great. My daughter told him that it was the second time somebody had been here. He said he would check. He ordered some parts, came back and put them in. The washer threw the codes again. I called them back the very next day and he said that it might not be that and he ordered more than that for a part. He came back and put the part in. He was wonderful and very good.

    Those were three different experiences and three different companies that AHS does business with. The first two were bad as well as dealing with the customer service. The plumbers close at 3:30. I had 4 days with no toilets with two little kids in the house. They had to pee in a bucket, which is against the law but I didn't have a choice because that's the kind of people AHS does business with. I wouldn't want anybody else to go through what I went through.

    American Home Shield responded within hours of submitting the claim online. They said that they had contacted a contractor that would be out to diagnose the problem. The guys from Green 2 Crystal Clear Pools are absolutely great. They're really professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. They diagnosed the problem really quickly. I was told that I needed a new pump and some gaskets replaced. But since the pump was not covered by American Home Shield, they had to get authorization. That was surprising. They call it an auxiliary pump and it's part of the pool system. Long story short, no authorization for the repair was given but they came back and repaired it at my expense. Still, it was much better than replacing a pump. Overall, there are a lot of exclusions with American Home Shield so you better read the contract very closely.

    I couldn't get my refrigerator to start. It was making a lot of clicking noises just before it stopped working so I called American Home Shield and the contractor got there in a relatively short amount of time. Fortunately, I had another refrigerator that I could use because once it quit, I had about 24 hours to move everything over, which I did. When they came out, they needed to order parts. So, I had to leave everything where it was in my outside fridge. When I had the parts, they showed up three days later and they replaced it, and it's been working great. They were great and it was amazing. The tech was very thoughtful and cleaned up after himself. It was nice to have this opportunity to have an experience because I sell AHS to my clients.     Some of AHS's vendors have come out and been able to resolve and fix my problems. Other vendors come out, spend five minutes and say that my problem is not their problem or it is not under warranty. Then, they charge me 100 bucks. I had a couple of light fixtures that didn't appear to have power. I put in a ticket for an electrician who came out, spent five minutes, and said they aren't covered by warranty and I need all new everything.

    So, I called American Home Shield and complained. I spent a lot of time on the phone trying to explain myself. I was told they would follow up in 24 to 48 hours but that never happened. I called back, complained some more, and I was told they would follow up. That never happened either. AHS reassigned a different contractor who did a great job and fixed everything. If they get rid of really bad techs and terrible customer service, it would be a great improvement.

    I had a pipe leak and it was pretty serious because I couldn't get water to go into my hot water tank. So I had to get a plumber out to figure out which pipe it was that was running into or that was leaking. He came out and we were able to find the problem pretty quick. He gave me recommendations and he was able to fix it pretty fast. The only issue is that I'm still waiting to hear back about the drywall. I didn't want to fix it, yet. He logged it and sent it with pictures to Home Shield and then I should hear back from Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has been doing a great job as far as taking care of me. I'm happy. I get notification that they’re going to be sending somebody out. It's very easy to use. I like the whole thing. If I plan on renting out my house, I want to stick with them because they're very quick and good. I'm gonna feel comfortable if I put renters in my house and I can still rely on them.

    When you get the warranty, there's so much reading that you have to do. When you have an issue, you know you got some kind of coverage on something, but you don't really know what you're covered up to. For example, when I had to go get my air conditioner/heater worked on this summer, the technician was worried that the Freon would be the issue. But he said it was a good thing that my Freon wasn't out because usually that can get kind of pricey. He added that if I was out on Freon, American Home Shield doesn't take care of that. So there should be more of awareness about that. But then again, that could be because I'm lazy and I didn't read my coverages that well.

    When you put the cup and push the water button, it was clogged. It wasn't coming out. The first time, GE Appliances called. The guy who came out was okay.     Sometimes when I have to call in at American Home Shield, I have to wait quite a bit of time to get in touch with a representative. But that's to be expected with all the events going on with COVID and people working from home. It takes a while but it's not a huge issue. Also, from research, AHS is one of the best that I could find as far as home warranty companies. It seems expensive but you get what you pay for. I would recommend AHS if you have older appliances and an older house that may need that kind of thing.

    Roadrunner was quick to respond to us on our recent claim. They came out and did the initial assessment. They figured out that one of the lights wasn't working on the fridge and they got to replace some parts. They came back out and replaced it. It worked for two or three days. Then, I had to recontact them because it went out. They had some issues they had to deal with so for a couple of days, they didn't respond. But it's a smaller company, so that's understandable. They came back out with a second part and replaced it. They did some troubleshooting and realized that the refrigerator was not repairable. They submitted a claim pretty quick through American Home Shield and the replacement has been ordered. I was very happy with their service and with their communication with us. It was a very positive experience.

    My furnace was not working. Island Breeze came out here three times but they have not fixed it. The first time they came out here, they said the issue was something with a motherboard. So then, they came back again and put that in. But it still didn't work, so they came out here again. The guy told me that he didn't see anything wrong with it. But he was was friendly and professional. He said what I could do is just put my thermostat up to 90, and that should fix the problem. But I put my thermostat up to 90, and sometimes, it turns on and the heat comes on. Sometimes, it doesn't. So I called Home Shield again and they had another company to come out here. The company called me yesterday to set up a time to come out here and they're coming out here on Wednesday between 8:00 and 11:00.

    We just called American Home Shield, told them what our appliance issue was, and they took down the information. They had me FaceTime them so that I could show them the unit and they could get the codes off of it themselves. They then told me who would be calling and gave me a phone number. They told me to make sure that I answered the phone. The process seemed pretty simple. My claim was handled very well. The gentleman who came was very timely and professional. What happened was I could not use the oven and the microwave. I couldn't use any of the buttons. There were no lights on the top and the oven light came on but would not go off. The gentleman said that that is a safety mechanism to tell you to check that there's something wrong. On the whole, everything was okay.

    The vendor on the last visit was great. I have three houses with AHS, and I’ve been with them for at least five years. AHS is a wonderful service and I’m thankful to have it, but I have some issues with them. They can be very difficult customer service-wise in terms of taking forever to get through. Also, three times this past year, I had employees tell me things and it didn’t happen, i.e., “We’re gonna send you a check in the mail.” I never got the check, so I had to keep calling and calling. I found out that they credited the money back to my credit card, but they never told me they were doing that. They told me they were putting it in the mail. It's the little things like that. Call and they say, “We’ll get back to you,” and then they don’t get back to you.

    I’m an AHS expert. I understand how it works. I always call first to make sure it’s covered, ‘cause I’ve had them come out and not be covered. We had a big situation in the spring where I called and I said, “Hey, is this item covered?” I was told yes it was. However, when they came out, they said it wasn’t, so I called, and I said, “Hey, this item is covered.” The electrician was there and he couldn’t wait. It was a big fiasco. He had me sign something that said, “If it’s not covered, you’ll pay for it.” because he had a problem with AHS not paying for things. I signed it because I talked to AHS then it turned out it wasn't covered. They said “Oh, you don't have that plan. We didn't realize.” At the end of the day, I finally got my money back after a bazillion phone calls and different people. It was a lot of effort for $75 though.

    I was dealing with a company that's in American Home Shield's system, but they couldn't find him. That’s the only problem I've had. When they called me back, they were gonna send me another company, which I didn't want ‘cause another company had been out already. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and they kept on till they found Carnell Maintenance. That was the one that was doing my appliances and the guy had also been up here on more than one occasion. He did what he said he was gonna do. He gave me a scheduled time and he was within that time. If he couldn't come, he called me and let me know. I like that. All around, American Home Shield's company has been great.

    Harvey Contractors came out and said something about a secondary leak which was total **. I called American Home Shield back and they sent a second guy out here without having me pay the $75. The guy said, “I know what I need,” and it took him a while to get it. He came back and fixed it within 20 minutes. He was clean. He was an awesome guy with nice manners. He did what he needed to do professionally.

    When I called back regarding the first issue, the rep stated verbatim what the contractor said, why he wouldn't fix it. She showed me where it was in the contract and she was not ignorant in any way. She performed. Nonetheless, I kept asking for a supervisor and she kept giving me an excuse, like, "There’s nothing he can do more than I can do.” At that point, I was done talking with her. I was too frustrated that's why I had asked. It continued and continued until I was put on hold for I don't know how long and I just ended the call. About 15 minutes later, she called back. She was professional throughout.

    I've had American Home Shield in my current house and I've just passed my third anniversary. I had them in my previous home for a little over five years. There was an issue when I was at my last house where a guy came out, lied about what he did, and damaged my air conditioning unit beyond repair. After calling a few supervisors and getting in touch with the correct people to rectify the situation that I was having, they approved a replacement of the condensing unit outside which is anywhere from 3,000 to $5,000 depending on the size.

    American Home Shield has had my back for over eight years that I've been with them and I will continue with them. I've also referred not only a friend but also a colleague. He told me he had problems with his warranty service. I said American Home Shield would treat him right and they did. They came out and fixed what some of his last warranty company would not fix because of some jargon in the contract.

    Submitting claims has never been easy with American Home Shield. It's probably one of the hardest companies that I have to deal with. Their customer service takes forever to get hold of. I’ve pleaded on the phone, many times, over an hour. It was a little bit faster this last time, but I don't know if it's because of the time of day. It only took me 15, 20 minutes to get somebody on the phone.

    I manage multiple properties so every time, my number is associated with it. I go online to submit a claim and it's the wrong property because it's associated with the owner's email account. It's not very user-friendly for property managers at all. When you go online, it doesn't give you options to place the tenant’s information. The tenant ended up bothering the owner which is terrible because they pay us to manage their home.

    American Home Shield sends out a vendor out there and the vendor goes just to blow out a drain line. This is almost every single time. I've gotten to the point where I already know how long it takes for a pinhole sized leak in an evaporator coil to drain out the freon to where it will stop cooling. The vendor knows how long it takes too and that they're going to get a callback to replace the evaporator coil. When it happened last week, I told American Home Shield and the owner, “Give it seven to eight days. I guarantee he’s going to come back and they're going to need an evaporator coil.” Sure enough, they just went out to blow a drain line.

    I do not trust the vendors for American Home Shield or First American but the worst are American Home Shield. They have vendors who are not ethical and who know how to make money. They go and charge for the coil and out of pocket expenses for the owner the same as it would cost to install a coil without a home warranty. The customer not only has to pay a premium every month, but he also has to pay the out of pocket expenses and the service call fee.

    I’ve 2 complaints for last 2.5 months. None of them have been taken care of. Every time I call you are outsourced to Philippines who have no clue and keep promising you they will escalate the matter and will get back to us ASAP. It’s been 1.5 months without dishwasher and 2 months since the plumber came in and took my faucet and never came to replace it. I’m paying 150 per month in warranty plus 75 dollars visit fee. This company is a fraud. I’m going to complain to DA S office.

    Updated on 11/09/2020: Ok Home Shield you answered my email and say you want to talk but you leave no contact information. So if you want to talk call **. I doubt I hear from you. You can tell your people are working from home. One girl's rooster was going off in the background and one guy's music was so loud we had to ask him to turn it down so we could hear him. Remove the illegal collection you put on me or you can pay me. Don't contact me until you fix this.

    Original: Home Shield is a joke. I called for my air conditioner. The guy came out and replaced a wire and said all is fine. 10 days later it went out again. The repair guy melted the contactor, Home would not return my phone calls when and if I could get a hold of someone. After waiting for over an hour every time I called and not speaking to anyone I gave up and canceled my contact. 3 months later I get a bill from a collections agency wanting 161$. After many and many phone calls Home Shield said we never canceled and next guy said we did cancel but will not remove letter from collections. We call back and they say we never canceled. The worst company I have ever dealt with. Still fighting them.

    I had to let AHS go for a while then I needed to get back with them. Instead of just doing my home, I'm doing my son's home too. I recently did a claim and the next morning, one of the ladies were calling from there to ask did I call back the phone number that she had given to me for them to fix my issue. I told her I did and that the technician was coming the next morning. He was there at 8 o’clock the next morning and took care of it all. He had to order a piece so that we could get some warm heat in there and everything's great.

    The AC was making a noise. It was pretty difficult to submit the claim. When I called, it said 24/7 assistance. There was no one in my area. I had to continue to call. It got very frustrating at a point to get American Home Shield to get someone to come out. It took over a week for Total Air Care to come out but they fixed it. It was something about a bearing and they did great.

    My first experience with American Home Shield was not very good at all. We had just bought the house. We had a part break and our sewage plant, which backed up into a tub and bathroom, flooded my house. When I called, they said they didn't have anyone in my area to handle the problem. But we needed a plumber right away. No one even called us back for three days, and we kept calling them. We ended up having to get a plumber to come out and fix the part so the flooding would stop. It cost us at least $10,000 in damage and American Home Shield wouldn't even pay for the plumber. Don't purchase a warranty from them. Use somebody else.

    My heat was not working. I tried requesting for service online, but I was having trouble. I filled in all the information but it wouldn't ever complete. It would just get frozen. I called and the rep was able to do it over the phone. Also, she told me she would put it in for an emergency because it was so cold. I put the claim in on a Tuesday and A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out on Thursday. It was a little delayed but the tech communicated with me and I didn't have any problem. He got everything done and the heating has been functioning good so far. AHS has helped me a couple of times so far so it's worth having.

    The furnace wasn’t working. American Home Shield sent someone out the next day. He had to order a part and he came out the next day and installed it and it worked ever since. I've had other claims with American Home Shield over the years. I had a dishwasher, a hot water heater, a furnace a couple of times, and a stove worked on. The exhaust switch broke and they had to put a new one in.

    I had several problems with my dishwasher. The initial issue was the cycle wasn’t going through completely. Geo Appliance Services came out and they’re the absolute best that American Home Shield has ever sent out. Some of the people they send out are questionable. The only thing is I still got moisture inside of my dishwasher at the end of the cycle. Other than that, my experience with American Home Shield has been fine.

    My icemaker was not working in the refrigerator. I made a claim for it and that was fairly simple.     We came here, we didn't have an issue, but then the furnace started making a lot of noise and we noticed a lot of stuff. We had two different companies come out. The first one said there were no issues. The second one said it needed replacement. We also contacted on our own four other HVAC companies and they all said it needed replacement. But American Home Shield said that it was not a regular wear and tear. They said it looked like there was mud in it like that would happen in a flood because it was the dirt in the water that clumped together and made it look like there was mud in our furnace although there was no water line. The other HVAC people said that it has not been in a flood. Obviously, there were no signs of flood in our basement.

    The former owners never changed the filter and the condensation that collected ruined the whole furnace. We're having to get the furnace replaced ourselves and it's very expensive and it's really frustrating because that's why we have a home warranty. Then recently, Lang's Locks was dispatched out to rekey the house. They were great. Everything's functioning perfectly since they came.

    We bought our home several months ago and I decided that I would sign up with American Home Shield. Initially, I thought I probably wouldn't need it. But it actually worked out really well for us. Ultimately, we've saved money using the home warranty. When in the 20s and you're just really getting on your career and things in life, money seems to be a little more scarce. American Home Shield has really come through for us so I appreciate them. I hope that I continue using them in the future. My wife and I are satisfied with the service and would definitely recommend it to other people. I've told several friends about it. So far, everything's been good.

    I've done three claims with American Home Shield. I did the toilet, the hot water heater, and the air. When I call to do the claim over the phone, it seems that the contractor calls me quicker than when I go onto the American Home Shield site. When I do it over the phone and it's processed, I can actually just call the contractor. This last one with the air, I did it through the site. It said it was locating a contractor and it did that for two days. The phone seems to be a lot quicker in regards to assigning a contractor in response. But this may have been my specific issue for my area and may not represent the issue for everyone. Plus, it's the same time of year when everything all of a sudden got cold. My heat went out probably with half of Americans.

    When my heat stopped working, True Air came out. The guy was down there for a while and he said the problem had to do with a blower or a fan. He would look for the part for me if he could find it. But the part was not available. They had to dropship it and it took a while to get in. True Air came out as soon as they could. The tech was down there a while and he changed the part out. He also gave me a few tips on how to maintain the system. The big one was changing my filters every 30 days which we already do. He also said to try to jack the unit up really high so it can burn off any soot or dust down there. This keeps the burners clean and makes the system last longer. We can do this once a year. Overall, the guy was very nice and professional. He knew what he was doing and I appreciated it.

    Sometimes I have to wait forever, but the last few times I have called Home Shield, they have been fast. Sears recently did a great job. He was on time, friendly and knowledgeable. He explained to me what was going on with the washer. He knew what needed to be done, so he talked to Home Shield and he told them that it would be too expensive. Once he looked it up, to see how the parts and labor, it would be too expensive to repair. Home Shield emailed us and said that they would give us an allowed amount of money to buy a new washing machine. We did that, and then we submitted a receipt. Home Shield is a good company. If something is broken, they will come and fix it. They have replaced two washers of ours. And then, they had to replace a garbage disposal.

    Someone came out and my son took him upstairs where the burner was. He said I was gonna get a call from American Home Shield. He hadn't done anything. He just looked at it. I don’t want him back in here anymore. He didn’t tell it to me, but Home Shield called me and was telling me that he told them that I would have to pay him 1,100 and some because my boiler wasn’t up to ordinance. Now, how can my boiler not be up to ordinance when Home Shield put it in? Home Shield put this boiler in about three years ago for me. So, now, if they put this in, it would be their fault.

    That guy really got me upset. I almost had a heart attack. Where am I supposed to get 1,100? Every month, I make my payments. So, if I didn’t need American Home Shield and if my stuff was gonna last me forever, I wouldn’t be paying up this money because I’m on fixed income. My son said all he did was get down and looked up under the place where the boiler is sitting on the wall, and that’s the switch over there. The boiler is back on the other side. He looked at that and then he drew his conclusion just like that. That ain’t right.

    I've been with American Home Shield for quite a few years. I don’t have a lot of problem with them. When I told them to send me a second opinion, they did. The guy came out and went upstairs. My son took him to where the burner was. He hit the switch and my heat came right on. Then he went outside and looked at the thing outside. He said if the problem starts again, I just have to call American Home Shield again. But this burner I got has been working good. We got heat. The guy wasn’t in here 10 minutes. I like American Home Shield. I got no intention of getting rid of them. They're good. They do their work. I'd tell others to use American Home Shield. I've been with them for years and years and they always come through for me. Whenever I call them, they come right out.

    If I had any other plumbing issues, I would definitely want to use Steinberg Plumbing. He came in and was able to assess the issue with both of my toilets and fix them. It was something that I had not noticed before. We have had trouble before with some water and we thought we had fixed it because we had to almost turn some of the water off when using the toilet. So, bringing someone in that is able to look and say, “Okay. This is what the problem is and this is how I can fix it,” is good. And then, he showed me to make sure that it's fixed. Very professional, very good. Definitely would recommend them again. Home Shield has had someone come out to help out with my stove, with my motor with my pool, and with my fan in the house. I have had them for five years, which means I am paying them for five years since I moved into the house. It is something that I am continuing to keep because I value their service.

    One of the rooms wasn't cooling properly, so we made the claim and the lady got in contact with American Home Shield because it sounded like it could have been like a ducting issue as opposed to the actual unit problem. Doing the claim was very easy. I love that I can do it online. The tech who came out was great. He came very much on time. He was very polite and helpful.

    He couldn't fix the problem. We'd only just moved into the house. The previous owners had put carpet in the two bedrooms that we were concerned about. They've kind of blocked the flow of the air conditioning. The air conditioning pushes the air in through the vents, and then it also has like another vent that pulls out the warm air. Because the carpet under the doors was a thick pile, it was blocking the sucking motion of the return, which is out in the living room. So what needed to happen was to put holes in the walls and put vents in to create the circulation. So, the tech got in contact with his supervisor and they provided me with a quote for that work because that was above and beyond what was covered under the American Home Shield.

    I also did put a claim in for the washing machine. We only just moved into the house, so the previous owners paid for the coverage for us for when we moved into the house and the washing machine was leaking. We had a very good experience with the contractor that came in to do that. He ordered the seal of the front door. That took a couple of weeks to come in, and then he came and fitted it, and I've not had a problem since. American Home Shield is well worth the money.

    My heating went out and I had no heat. It was very difficult to reach a live person at AHS and I couldn't reach anybody so I requested service online. After I submitted it, I was able to call in, speak to somebody, and check the status of the claim. If they had just been able to talk to me in the first place, I could have gotten my order set up properly the first time because I needed emergency service. And I had to pay for the service call, not knowing if I'd be able to get somebody to come out the same day, which is kind of frustrating on the weekend. But the guy from AJ Moore who came out did a really good job. He was respectful and polite. They figured out that somebody had improperly wired the furnace and that was very helpful. AHS's service is really great but they can improve their customer service a little bit.

    Our original call to American Home Shield was around a stove as well as a refrigerator, specifically the freezer and ice maker portion. It's fairly easy making a claim. The local service people have been great but they had to make multiple trips because they didn't have the parts when they came out the first time, which is a standard operating procedure. Their communication has been absolutely fantastic. It's a couple of weeks' response time to get parts but that's through no fault of their own. That is just supply chain issues around the world.

    The other thing is their follow-up and keeping me in the loop has been better than American Home Shield. They know more about what's going on than American Home Shield. I got more information from the local people when required. If I have an issue, I'll call them and they'll get it sorted out with American Home Shield versus the other way around. The service guys are supposed to be here between 11:00 and 2:00 today to finish the freezer part. They fine-tuned it but it's not quite ready yet.

    I also called American Home Shield about a bathroom light that also contains a fan and I really never got a solid answer. They were saying that the fan is not covered. But it's the same fixture and it's a fixture problem. American Home Shield was unclear and it took them a while to do their research. But overall, I'm very satisfied and I would recommend the home warranty.

    I called in a claim and the rep took my order and asked me if I needed anything else. It was pretty nice. Sevier Climate Control came out and was pretty professional and knowledgeable. The tech went above and beyond what I was asking him to do. The thermostat was set up right for the system and the heat pump was turning on when it shouldn't have been turning on. He went and checked both the heat pump and the heater when he really didn't have to do that. He opened it up and checked it out to make sure everything was good.

    HVAC Repairs came out over a period of several days but they weren’t able to get the unit to work. They couldn’t find out what the problem was and they replaced several different parts. Also, the gas valve only worked for a few minutes and it stopped working. The guy had already left and we had to contact American Home Shield. They contacted HVAC, who contacted us and said that they needed a second look at the unit. So, HVAC sent another representative out there to look at it to find out what its problem was. It took a couple more days and the guy finally got it to work. It's been fine since. Throughout the whole process, everybody that was sent out to our house was professional, courteous, very helpful and responsive. Everybody tried to solve the problem of getting it fixed.     I called Home Shield on a Friday but I didn't get any answer back. And then Monday, I called. They gave me the number to call the door people, and I called them to make an appointment. They didn't have anything that Monday, but they told me that I would be the first on Tuesday, which they were out here around the time they told me they would come, between 10:00 and 12:00. The guy was very professional, came in, and told me a price for the spring. He said that wasn't covered through insurance. I said, "Can you lower it?" They called. They lowered it. Same thing for the wheels. They gave me a price and I told them, "Can you lower?" They also lowered it. I ended up paying out of pocket 375 for the wheels inside plus the spring. The sensors were covered with insurance.

    I'm a bit dissatisfied with the fact that Home Shield didn't cover my spring, because that was $275. At the end of the day, it was broken. I needed it in my garage to work, as well as the sensor. The sensor was covered, but the spring wasn't and nor were the wheels. If I'm already paying in a monthly service, so I'm paying $50 for a month, and then when I call them for a service, I pay 125. So, in that month, I'm already paying almost 175. I had to come out of pocket $375. At this point, I needed to get it fixed, so I had to pay for it. But what is the insurance for to only cover partial?

    The experience with American Home Shield is very satisfactory. Their service comes up periodically. It's not very often but the tech comes up to the house if something malfunctions. Recently, we had a small resetting of the garbage disposal, which took two seconds to fix. We were charged the full deductible on that. For this one, we had a problem with the refrigerator and it was resolved. But we needed a recall because it created another problem which didn’t exist. The technician came for the second time and fixed that problem, too. He was very good and he was a nice gentleman. American Home Shield is very good but there are questions in communication. Contacting by telephone sometimes takes a very long time but that is the only downside that I see.

    I saw a leak in my garage. The contractor came out and fixed it. Also, the dishwasher wasn't working. They said they found the part, and they fixed that one. And then the microwave wasn't rolling and they fixed it. But the other things, unfortunately, we didn't put on. In the house, the doorbell wasn't working, but they said we didn't put that one. Now, our fireplace is not working. We don't know what happened.

    Normally, they will tell you if the claims are for home appliances, you have to submit those at the same time. But I paid $200 for the one in the garage and then the appliance that's inside the house. We thought we had the doorbell put in, but they said no. But that's about it. So far, they did the work. And everything is working fine. Except those two things, the doorbell and then my fireplace, which needs to be done because the winter is around the corner. You can't sit in the living room.

    It has been a pleasant experience using American Home Shield and sending people to come and work. I was freaking out about what are we going to do about this, about that. Sometimes there's a bit of delay. It might be from those whoever they give the project to come and do it. And again, there's COVID-19 that's expected. Apart from that, everything has been good experience so far.

    I’m looking for another company and I’m trying to figure out who the best one is. I used to have Black Hills Energy. That one was excellent. You just pay the monthly charge every month, and they fix everything. They didn’t charge any fee, not even to send somebody out, which I really liked. However, they moved out, and they said they were only gonna cover the gas stove, hot water heater and furnace. I needed something to cover everything else.

    I've had American Home Shield for two years now. When they had to put a whole new sump pump in, they covered it. It took me four days to get somebody to come out, but it wasn't their fault. The contractors were booked up, but one thing American Home Shield has to do is get more contractors in certain areas. Recently, a repair guy came out for my dishwasher and he was good. He found the problem, which the other technician didn't find.

    When an installer puts a dishwasher in, they put brackets there. One of the brackets moved over to the middle of the door, and that's what was causing it from not sealing. I asked the repair guy to put the two brackets back where they were supposed to be and he wanted to charge me $180. I’m not too happy about that. He said it’s not covered under American Home Shield’s warranty. He also said the installer was supposed to put them on. I've had this dishwasher for three years. I don’t even know who put it in. Dishwashers are supposed to be stabilized, but my dishwasher moves now.

    There was a leak in the shower, and the water ended up running the tub. Someone came and looked at it and put a new faucet in and said I'd have to go get some caulking material and caulk the faucet. They don't do caulking. I don't understand that. It seemed kind of strange. He's a plumber, but he didn't do any caulking. We got some caulking, got a caulking gun, and put the caulk around it, and it still leaks. I called American Home Shield Thursday, and they referred me to the same people again, and I haven't heard from them. I'll call them again on Monday. American Shield didn't anything wrong. They sent the guy out and the guy didn't get the job done and they gotta come back and fix it. I wouldn't blame American Shield for that.

    The Sears technician was fine and I had no issues whatsoever. But one of the complaints that I have about the process is that the system asks you what you're calling about but it doesn't give you the ability to explain what specifically the issue is. So when the technician arrives at your home, he has no idea what it is. So then you have to show them and of course, he won't have those parts for it. He has to order the parts and they have to come back and install them. So he wasn't here for very long because all he could do was look at what the issue was. There should be a way to have that done in one visit rather than two. But overall, it has been a good experience and I have recommended them to others already.

    Our most recent claim was our hot water heater, which American Home Shield did not cover. We wanted a new regular water heater put back in, but because we have efficiency, they won't put that. They don't cover the one that is already in. The other ones that I spoke to said they would cover that.     I submitted a claim with AHS for the electrical outlets. They said that they put the work order in and that the tech would reach out to me. Then they sent me an email and it had all the information. The tech called me and set up the time to come out. He came out and I told him when I plug stuff in the outlets, they just fall out. The electrical is fine. It's just the outlet themselves. He took a look at it and tested the outlet. He said it was getting power, but it was loose. He said he'd submit the report to AHS and they should take care of it. But it didn't get fixed.

    AHS called me and said it was from neglect and misuse, so they were not going to cover it. I said, “But isn't this covered under an unknown condition? Because I didn't paint the home.” I had it in the report where it said they painted the home this color back in 2016. I called again and the lady helped me and she said she was sending out a second opinion. They have been good at getting a second opinion out and that way, we can try and hopefully get this covered.

    For the most part, they've done well over the years. Recently, they took almost a month to make a decision about whether they were going to replace an item for me. Only after I wrote to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission did they decide they were going to replace the item. But in the meantime, I had gone out and bought my own item. I was tired of waiting. It finally did get installed. They had the people come out. But I also have asked them to reimburse me for what I bought and they have not done so.

    The biggest thing that frustrated me was that they say you can call and check your status on a particular service call. But I called multiple times and the people who answered the phone said that there was a service request in to replace the faucet. The people who make the decision about those things had not made a decision. They said they would give it to the group that accelerates service requests up to the decision group and that they were gonna talk to the acceleration group. But nothing happened. It seemed like a ploy to wear me down until I gave up on them. That runaround made me mad. I was not asking that they replace it. I was asking them to make a decision. Even when I complained to the Better Business Bureau and the FTC, I emphasized that all I wanted was a decision.

    There is a toilet located in the second floor bathroom. It's attached to the media room. That was clogged. The technician came and unclogged it. He was going to change the parts for that toilet and he did not have the parts. That work was incomplete. We created a service request for four toilets. All four toilets were leaking also. One toilet was clogged, and that he unclogged, but they were also leaking. He replaced two toilets’ parts, and the other two toilets’ parts, he did not replace. I put in the call for replacing the other two toilets’ parts and they're coming out tomorrow in the morning to replace that.

    I left the vendor several messages last week, and they’ve not come back to me. I was getting frustrated. Then I had to call AHS and tell them that these guys are not returning my calls in order to schedule. I got to talk to AHS and AHS contacted them. Today, I called them this morning and they immediately picked up the phone and they set up the appointment. I would like to see more professionalism because the day the technician arrived, he said that he didn’t have the parts for those four toilets. He said that he's going to go back and get the parts. He only put the parts for two toilets and did not inform me, so professionalism was lacking.

    My experience with Home Shield has been pretty good and I would recommend them to anybody. There was another service request for a pool repair. That was very bad. That was pathetic. I already called AHS and asked them to blacklist the company that came. They came and botched up the pool and they went back here. It was $75 a charge, ended up botched up work, and I called them several times and they did not return my calls. I called AHS also. AHS did not return my calls. So, that issue is still open right now.

But when you do it online, which I did, they end up sending the same person back out. And they would have already told us that they didn't know how to fix it. Luckily, it got handled. But mostly, it got handled because of phone calls.

    I've had two different things. One of them, somebody came out and replaced a part and a range hood, and it worked. But then the part went out 45 days later. And then when I called the insurance company, they said, “Well, now, the claim is expired.” So, I had to get that done on my own. Then the other one is a bigger one where the oven wasn't working properly. Somebody came out, replaced a part. That didn’t fix it. They came out and said, “Okay, it's this part.” I guess it was an expensive part because the warranty company sent somebody else out to verify. They weren't sure either. And then they said that AHS would have to send somebody out there who is licensed for that particular Maytag. So then, somebody else came out the other day and replaced a part. It will be good, but I wouldn’t call the experience that great. But I still think AHS is a good company.

    Southern Comfort was great. They came for a preventative maintenance on the heating system. I was really impressed that I didn't have to ask the two nice fellas, “Where are your booties? Where are your masks?” They had that. My attic doesn't have a ladder and they had one. They came on time. In the spring, when I have my check up again, I would like to have the same folks come out.

    I was talking to one lady at AHS at one point because I didn't know if I wanted to get an extension to their company. We were going back and forth and I wanted to make a decision. She wanted to give me some prices if I would want to continue to stay. In the hustle and bustle, we lost out of touch but she did call me back at least two or three times. But I didn’t hear from her the last time.

    I have two commodes that were leaking and they would flush on their own. I called the AHS 1-800 number and I talked to a gentleman. He gave me a number and said Mr. Rooter Plumbing would be calling, which they did. They were right on it at the first get-go. Their guy was out here in no time. He replaced a flapper and some kind of valve on one commode. He then cleaned the rim on the top of the other. He did a good job on both but one is not completely fixed. It looks like it needs some more work done on it. I'm still having problems so I called again. They have not called me back to come back and fix the second commode. That was at the end of last week. I guess since AHS already paid them for the first one, they're not going to get paid on this one because they didn't fix it so they're not responding. But as far as the way things went the first time, it was very good. We’ve had our policy with AHS for seven or eight months and it’s fine.

    This is the second time that A & P has come out to help me, and they've been great both times. They were fast in figuring out the resolution. They were enjoyable to work with and they're very friendly. Submitting the claim online was convenient. I could do it any time of the day. I didn’t have to wait for someone. I like that American Home Shield texted me and emailed me the name of who was coming out to provide the service. Then, the company would reach out to me, too, and they would tell me what day and time they were gonna come out. So, it all worked out really easy.

    American Home Shield themselves have a lot to work on. I had a request for a refrigerator repair and ended up having to take the cash out. Two different times, it was over four hours I waited on the phone. Then, when I finally talked to someone the third time, it was fairly quick. It was like an hour I had to wait. They ended up stating that they were gonna send a check. But that was about three weeks ago and we still don't have the check. It's been at least 21 days since I requested that and still don't have the check. I called them and they stated that the check was just mailed last week and that it should be getting here. They thought it was supposed to be getting here on Friday. Still, that would have been over 14 days. We still don't have it either way. I was not really dissatisfied with the price that I got back for the refrigerator. It is a $8,000 refrigerator if I went to buy it brand-new and they only gave me 3,000. That seemed fair, but the service was terrible.

    I got a plumbing leak resolved quickly through American Home Shield but it took them two weeks to get a hot water heater approved so it could be installed in my home, which to me was outrageous. They need to improve their customer service. It was weak, and they were difficult to get ahold of and not responsive. The typical hold time was anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes and their chat was disabled a lot of the time. If you get through, it was probably still 30 minutes and they would still recommend that you call the phone line. I didn't have time to do that very often but I still did it a couple of times. They were very slow to get anything done and because my request went so badly, they forgot about me and didn't seem to care. It's unacceptable to not have hot water for two weeks. So, I worked with Complete Companies to try to help get some resolution through AHS.

    The garbage disposal was leaking water in the bottom of my sink and I put a pot under there to catch the water. The tech called me before he came. He looked at it and took some pictures. He stated that it needed to be replaced. Then, he went outside to his truck, got the garbage disposal and replaced it. He showed up on time and was friendly when he got here. He wasn’t here that long so he was professional.

    I haven't had any problems with American Home Shield. Even the last time when people came out to fix my dryer, they were cool too. They couldn't fix it the first time so they came back and fixed it. They ended up coming back out a third time because whatever they did to it, that didn't fix it. But it wasn't a problem. They came when it was convenient to me and they moved fast. The time before that, a guy came out here and changed the coils on the air conditioner. That was years ago and I haven't had any problem with the air conditioner ever since.

    We had a blockage and a service person got it working. We then did laundry and ran the dishwasher at the same time. It started coming back up to our toilet so we had the service company come out again. They did another pushing through. It works just fine now. The thing with the claim process though is I wish that you could give more information or ask more questions because there is a very broad category. It doesn't necessarily tell the issue that you're having sometimes. There are times where if two things are going on then I have to call back and wait to talk to somebody to let them know that I need to have two issues addressed while the service people are at our house because the AHS system only accepts one at a time. If you don't tell AHS the second issue, the service people will not be able to work on that.

    Via the system, once you say, "I've got a leak happening underneath my toilet," you can't say, "but it's also coming up underneath my sink." The system says you've got a leak and you move on. You pay your $75 and you're done. You wait until the plumber calls to schedule the appointment then you explain the situation. But they could say, "All that they have listed is a leak. We can't work on this other issue because you didn't call this other issue in." That part's not easy. The system doesn't seem to be set up to cover multiple problems at once. That would take some effort on your part to call then wait online.

    AHS has gone from bad to worse. I've had a lot of trouble scheduling and getting stuff done. It's not the same as it was a year back. I don't think they were able to handle the pandemic at all. When somebody schedules, they don't turn up. The time to resolve the issue is 10, 15, 20 times more than what it was previously. The call waiting times are more than an hour. It's almost impossible to get to an agent. But the people who have come to resolve the issues have continued to resolve the issues very quickly once they come. I have not had a challenge where they are not skilled or they don't know their stuff. Most of them know their stuff, barring they have to make calls into their back end to figure out sometimes how and what to do.

Other times, AHS would hook us up with a contractor and then they couldn’t come out for a couple of weeks. When having a broken refrigerator, that doesn't really work. They should work with contractors who are available that day, or the next day, or within a reasonable time period. When we call the 800 number and talk to someone, they've always been very polite and helpful. It's just sometimes hard to understand them.

    I've had American Home Shield since 1991 and I always call in my claims with them. It's always hard to call in and it's even worse trying to get somebody online. I'm always getting people in other countries so it makes it very difficult. I called in about my stove because the oven keeps going out. A guy with Sears came and he ordered some parts. As soon as the parts came, they told me to call him back which we did. A couple of days later, the stove went out again. Another guy came and he said it was something about an adjustment with the sensor in the oven. It was working fine. Two days later, it went out again.

    I called American Home Shield yesterday and they gave me another dispatch number. American Home Shield should get some American people to handle the calls like they used to. They should stop routing all of the calls to these people in other countries that don't understand what you're saying. Nothing really gets done efficiently like the service that I used to have.

    Royal Flush AC and Heating came to fix my heater and the problem still exists. Another time, American Home Shield sent me a contractor who caused $2,000 damage to my house and I've been trying to follow up. AHS is the worst company in the market. They used to be a great company. If I call in my own contractor, I get the problem fixed. If I call with AHS, they drag an order to make money. Also, AHS has an answering machine in the Philippines or somewhere outside of the country. I called them and I talk something and they talk something. That’s the problem sometimes.

    Our oven stopped working. We had to turn the power off 'cause it was beeping. Liberty Appliance Repair through American Home Shield ordered the parts. But unfortunately, one out of the two parts was discontinued so we've got to get a reimbursement. I'm still waiting on my reimbursement check. Once they said that we're gonna have to get reimbursed and that they won’t be able to fix it or replace it 'cause it was so old, we went and bought an oven that night. I replied to the email with all the documentation needed. I submitted it on the 20th of November. This was the second time that Liberty had come out. But we already had the work order on it before through AHS and they had said that the motherboard was probably going to have to get replaced. That part was discontinued but it was not noted.
