I had three toilets that were running, so the tech that AHS sent out changed some component inside of the toilets. He was wonderful and perfect. Everything is working fine now. I would also use AHS again. But when I made the claim, I put it through the internet and I didn't talk to anybody.

I’m having so many problems with American Home Shield and these vendors that came to my home starting on January 11. The first plumber that came caused all these horrible things in my house. They vandalized and demolished it and I cannot get my furniture from the second party that took them out in the first place. My house is still a mess and the matter is still unresolved.
Right now, my focus is to get my house back to where it was before all this drama took place. I figured if I reached out to American Home Shield, they would have tried to help somewhat, but it looks like I'm in this all by myself. I made so many calls to them up to this morning. The last person I talked to absolved American Home Shield from my issue. That, to me, is not right, because they're the ones that send all these vendors to the house.

The contractor handled the claim very professionally. They tried to come out that day at noon but I had an appointment. They came out that afternoon and it took them like 45 minutes to fix the thermostat that was not working properly. They even checked the unit itself and did everything. It ended up being that they had to replace the thermostat. The only thing was I had to file a different claim prior for my hot water heater and I did have an issue. The repair part was great but when I called it in, the lady with American Home Shield that called me back to schedule it said, “I need three dates that you’ll be available.” I said, "That's a problem because of when I work. Can I just tell you one day?" She said she had to have three dates. She wasn't the most pleasant.

So far, my experience with AHS has been good. I know a lot of skeptics out there have bad experience with a lot of different companies but I haven’t experienced that yet. I had a 27-year-old gas heater for the pool and it was falling apart. I asked Aaron Pools to come over and remove it. The guy was by himself so he had to go back and find a second person. He called back within an hour saying he found somebody and they’d be out within the hour. They took it out and cleaned up the whole area. They were very nice and fairly quick.

For the heating, my experience with American Home Shield was good. But for the stove, it's not been really good. It took a while to fix the stove so I was not happy. I call American Home Shield for my claims all the time. I'm on the road all the time, so I find it easy just to call. As far as the heating, the contractors are good. But when they order the parts, then it comes in broken, so they're having to change the parts. The guys that have been here have been good but the problem was with the parts. The package was not good. They send in the parts in a plastic bag and those are very sensitive. It ended up broken. The heater has been working good. They came twice. The second time, they did a good job with the heater.

I needed the service for the heating expedited and when I spoke to someone from American Home Shield on Sunday, they said that they were going to reach out to the company and that the company said they will be there by 5:00. But nobody came and I never got a call to say that anybody wasn't coming. So, I called AHS back on Monday. I was very upset and I wasn't happy with that situation. But AHS went through another company which came on Monday. The tech was a nice, young man and the repair went well.

American Home Shield has been good but it's more costly than I expected. It gives me peace of mind because I go on a lot of travels, so it's just my wife at home. If something comes up and I'm not around to look at it, she can set up an appointment, somebody will come and look at it. When the contractor showed up for the furnace originally, they said that the control board had shorted out. So they ordered one and replaced that but the problem still existed. So they came back out and that was when they found a relay pack that was bad. First, they tried to replace that by ordering it but it was not made anymore. Then they tried the whole blower but that was not made anymore. So the next is to replace the whole thing and we're scheduled for Thursday.
H and J Heating and Air went through everything with me. They even called when they realized the parts weren't made anymore, explained that this would end up being more likely things I would have to pay for. So even before they did the quote, they kind of walked me through what to expect. They also called me because we went with the upgrade option since it made sense to replace everything at once.

Updated on 02/12/2021: I wrote a review on how American Home Shield are are crooks. Somebody responded and said they would like to resolve the problem. He was a liar because I left him my number and he has yet to call me back. He only wrote under my review to make everyone think he wanted to resolve the issue. They know exactly what they are doing and that’s why Carolina One dropped them because of how they kept ripping people off.
Let me explain how to avoid company’s like this sailing snake oil. If I pay them $50 a month they for 12 months that is $600. If your A/C breaks they will pay you $340. You are better off putting $50 a month into your savings account for a year. Don’t give these lying thieves a penny. I know a personal story where somebody had the same thing happen to them. American home shield tried to pay them $340 towards their bill. This person paid American home shield a total of $15,000. I really hope nobody is ever deceived by this company again. On another note I called them back and talked to 7 different people and nobody would help me with the horrible price they gave me!!!!
Original: I recently had my air handler have a leak in the coil. I am a Contractor and signed up for American Home Shield from a reference. I called in a work order on January 6, 2021 and the technician diagnosed it as a leak in the coils. He suggested the air handler be replaced because he could make more money. I didn’t want to use him because of his dishonesty so I requested the cash out option. The technician would only give me the breakdown price of what they were charging me but would not tell me what he was charging American home shield.
The total cost for me was $1800. The cash out was $340. American home shield was trying to claim that they get some special discount on the air handler and that’s why they were only paying $340. This $340 supposedly covers the air handler his labor and $10 per pound of Freon. This was an absolute complete lie. The air handler alone was a minimum of $1000. What American home shield did is they work out a lie with the technician. The technician in turn charges me for the material and calls it labor. They use the word modifications. They don’t pay for modifications.
When I called them and talk to seven different people all they did is say, "In section 5 blah blah blah this is all we’re going to give you." I explain to them what I said in this review and they said the same thing over and over and over again. The biggest mistake they made is a contractor buying their warranty because I know their lies because I see what other contractors do but I don’t do the same thing. We seem to be in the world of the United States where lies are supposed to be truths.
I know somebody who works for Caroline one and they told me they used to have American home shield. After they ripped off about 500 of their customers they finally dropped them. One person paid into them 25 years and they only gave them $340 to replace their hot water heater and their air handler. You might as well use the money you were paying them monthly put it in the savings account and within three months you will get back with all pay you for the next 25 years. They are the biggest scam artist I’ve ever come in contact with.

One of the fan motors in my air conditioner went out. I called American Home Shield up. They assigned the person who came out the same day. I did the claim at night. He came out the next day. They said he would be late, and they kept updating me throughout the day, which was great. He came at night, and he said “Hey, this is what's got to be replaced.” He did a temporary fix to get me going. He said, “We might be a day for the part.” He called me 10:00 in the morning, say he's got a part and he'll be here in a half hour, and it was fixed by 11am the next day. He was professional, quick and wore a mask. I use American Home Shield all the time. I like them.

I'm a young single mom in her first house. It's a three-year old house and I had it built. I knew I was going to be having a new set of expenses. Once those new home warranty things were off and they become limited warranty on parts, not labor, I knew that I needed to be able to have a dependable plan for when something happens to one of my appliances or a garage door opener. I needed to make sure that my daughter and I can be safe and get whatever we need fixed, and then for me not to go broke over it. I really looked into it and the reviews and I chose American Home Shield because the deductibles are reasonable.
I'd much rather pay $100 versus having something done out of my own pocket. Most people right off top, it's 150 or 250 just to come out. It doesn't include the part or the labor being done on that. For me, that makes all the difference in the world. It's my income. AHS also covers a slew of stuff that other people don't even cover for extended home warranties and they are very clear about what payments are going to be taken out or if something changes in the plan. I never felt like they were trying to pull the okey doke 'cause they keep good communication with their customers or if there's an update in the policy. I thought, "Okay. Let's see how this goes.”
My first time having used them was an easy process and I appreciated that. I called the gas company before I called American Home Shield because I smelled gas. When they came and checked it out, the guy cut off the water heater and said, "This is dangerous because any little spark could have ignited an explosion." When the repair guy from AHS contacted us to come out before they came to the house, I gave him all the insight and the paperwork that the gas company had given me. He was professional and very knowledgeable about what happened. He did extra precautionary measures and he was careful about keeping his distance. The issue got fixed quickly too.
My dad and I both have American Home Shield and he's told me his experiences with it as well. People need to realize that when they get in their house, there's no landlord. A lot of people get resale houses and neither the real estate agent nor the title company informs people, especially younger homeowners like myself or even younger. I had a new build and I had this happen. Think about people that have resale houses. You don't know all the history of the house, why wouldn't you get an extended home warranty? It's a no-brainer.

As soon as the guy from the first company came in the door, he started evaluating stuff and kept saying, "The only problem is if it's covered." He didn't even have a snake to even try to unclog it. Then they would charge me 740 something dollars because they gotta rent a snake to come back out to my house. He called AHS saying it's roots in it, and this and this, and so AHS wouldn't pay for it. He told me to call the city and ask them to get the camera first, to see where the roots are at, because that was not my fault. Then I could call them back out and they would charge me just to dig. He also said that when the city comes out and shows me, I've got to point and make a mark where it's at and make them do the digging as it would be cheaper on me. If they do the camera, it would have been 400 or something. But at least that company came out and helped me out.
If thinking about it, I had to pay American Home Shield 100, then I still got to pay these other people 'cause it was something in the line, then 700 and something just to snake it out, knowing that I still have this issue, and yet they would rent a machine. It doesn't even take that much if you rent one. I was so confused. I live alone and I learned to catch on to stuff like this because they see me coming and I'm an old lady, and they gonna try to get me. I felt like this company wanted me to forcefully use them with that money because the guy knew that my waste would be in my yard. He looked back at me and I asked if we could use the bathroom. He said that if we'd use it, it would go in our yard, and he just left abruptly.
That night, I was getting ready to give them the $700. The girl called back and told me what they said. I was trying to get it where I could pay half and half. The lady called back saying they couldn't accept that. It's the whole thing at the time. I called AHS back and told them that I wanted another company out here on second opinion. I explained to them what the first company told me. The guy from AHS understood and said he'd get another one. I had to keep the cap off the thing all night. Me and my daughter tried to not go to the bathroom as much.
Pro-Tec came out the next day. The guy took his time and he asked me several questions. I told him what the guy had and he said that the guy didn't have the right thing. He snaked it out it and cleared it. As a customer, you gotta watch some of the companies that come out 'cause if you ain't smart enough, you ain't gonna catch them. It didn't take that guy anything to snake it out, and he did a minute. He said there were a little bit of roots in there but he still stuck it out and he told me what to do. I recommended AHS to people because that was not their fault.

My dryer wasn’t heating on all cycles. A tech got there when he said he would. Even though I had that four-hour window, he still called me and said he was en route and he told me how long it would be before he got there. He was extremely nice and professional. He knew what the problem was once he looked at the dryer. It turned out that a plug wasn’t plugged all the way. He really didn't have a lot to do but he double-checked everything like the settings. He cleaned it out. Everything's working fine now.

My Tek Services came out. It was regarding a dishwasher that wasn't working properly. I called American Home Shield to file the claim. The process was very easy. They are absolutely amazing. They understand high-end appliances. They're very professional and they always keep the client informed. The biggest issue we have with American Home Shield is that they don't really replace things, they repair them. Their service is a little bit misleading. If a heating and air system goes out, they're probably not gonna replace it.

My recent claim was to replace my thermostat that wasn't working on my heating unit and I was real pleased with Southern Comfort. They were really good. They were coming from out of town and I thought, “Why aren’t they using somebody close,” but the guy was very courteous and prompt. He got it taken care of.

Eric was the last one who gave us repairs. He did the AC and he was on point according to scheduled time. He did a phenomenal job and the problem was solved. I love American Home Shield. They're pretty much up to par with what needs to be done.

The icemaker from the fridge was leaking and the repair guy fixed the line that connects the fridge to the pipe. I was surprised that it was very easy submitting the claim to American Home Shield. The person that I talked to explained everything good to me. I was not on hold for too long and the process was very fast. I was very pleased. I called and told them what my problem was and then, within 24 hours, they sent one of the contractors who responded to me very soon too.

The company that AHS sent out didn't have the part and I had to wait. It took a long time and it could have been because of the virus and everybody says that. But as far as anything else, it's hard saying anything negative about AHS and I don’t have a complaint. But I would suggest for them to bring their customer service back to the United States. They have an overseas phone service and sometimes I would have a little issue speaking with them.

American Home Shield sent Days Appliance Repair out to do some work. Dave was cool, but we still have problems. He came out. He looked at it. It took forever for them to come back. It's like a 1990 stove that still doesn't cook right. He fixed the dishwasher but where you put the soap in don’t close now. Then, the refrigerator couldn't be fixed. Dave only had so many ways he can do things. It's up to Home Shield. It’s really not his fault, but Home Shield’s.

I had to have the refrigerator turned all the way up in order for the freezer to freeze. I called American Home Shield and they took care of it. The contractor already brought the part and replaced it. My refrigerator has been functioning fine. But when submitting a claim, it's difficult getting through. You're on hold for a long time. Also, things could be done faster. My stove needed to be replaced, and that has taken about two months. It took a long time for them to send somebody. I'm supposed to get the replacement on Friday. But everything has been two to three months before things are replaced.
American Home Shield also replaced my washer. It's a stacking washer and it had shipping bolts. The little tag on it said it has four shipping bolts and to make sure to take them off. But the people that brought it only took off two. They did not attach the dryer to the washer at all when they put it. When I tried to use my washer, the dryer came down and hit the wall. The wall stopped it from falling over because it was a tighter space. I had somebody else look at it and they took the shipping bolts off. Then they bolted it together for me like it was supposed to be.

I've never had a problem with American Home Shield. They do excellent work. Several years ago, my water heater died. They came and replaced it, and everything was fine. Recently, our garbage disposal wouldn't work, so I called them. They contacted the repair company and I got an email from Air Pro that everything was set up. I also got an email from American Home Shield confirming everything. They made the appointment for the following Monday.
Air Pro Master called me and said they had a client who had an emergency flood. The guy that was licensed to work on mobile homes (which we have) had to go there, which was not a problem. They came the next morning and they were excellent. They said between 8:00 and 1:00, and the gentleman was here at 8:15. He fixed the problem in five minutes.

My washing machine broke down. It was leaking and it wasn't spinning anymore. Sears came and said that they couldn't fix it. Now, somebody is here installing one in. He is great. Everything was very good. We're very happy with American Home Shield.

My recent claim experience with AHS was amazing. I like the tech. He came to fix the heater. When he left, I realized that the temperature was not changing. So I called him back and then he told me that I had to submit another order for him to come back and see the thermostat. He came back the day after. He fixed it because the thermostat was not working, so he replaced that also. Now the heater's working. The AC broke down one time. The guy who came said that it was the pump. He took it out and then it took almost a week to come back and fix it. I told my friend and my sister about AHS, that they should look into it. It's better to have it than be sorry.

I've had AHS probably two years and I've had to do three claims so far. I've had all good experience. They're easy to deal with. Recently, I had to call them on Wednesday or Thursday and they were able to get somebody out the next day. The person who came to me was Joe. I liked him. He was very personable and he explained everything.

I submitted a claim with AHS because my fridge wasn’t working and then Alfa Appliances did a virtual inspection. They had decided that they couldn't fix it and it was a preexisting condition. But then they had to revisit it again and then they fixed it. It took them a while, but then they were able to fix it, including my icemaker, which they replaced. Overall, they did a good job. American Home Shield was very diligent. Kudos to Patricia. She was very good, very professional and she helped me a lot. I'm very happy with American Home Shield.

Submitting a claim was okay, but the reps on the phone didn't know exactly what I was talking about. It was like a language barrier. When I called for the heater thing, they asked me if it's the furnace, and I said we don’t have furnaces in Texas. They also asked if it's the boiler, and I got so frustrated with them. They finally got it when I told them the HVAC system. But they didn't know about that. The issue was on the relay switch. They're supposed to turn it back on, and it needed to be replaced. The last people that Home Shield sent were very timely, professional, and got the job done quickly.
When we had the leak under the slab, they sent somebody out and diagnosed it, but it wasn't covered. They also had someone come out to look at our dryer. But it was three or four returns before it was fixed and that took at least six weeks. Sometimes the people that come out don't have enough knowledge to know what's wrong. The six weeks was really hard during the holidays for a dryer not to be working.

The heating element in our dryer was out and the tech fixed it. With AHS, I like that I can just pay a copay and somebody comes out and fixes what I need.

Our heater wasn't heating up at all. When we turned the heater on, cold air was coming out. The claim submission with American Home Shield was pretty smooth. It took me about five minutes to do it. Their website is very user friendly and it provides every step you need to take before you submit. Then it said they'd reach out within 24 hours and they made an initial contact to set up an appointment. The contractor came out and got it taken care of. My heater was up and running very quickly. It was phenomenal. I live in Nebraska, so it can be freezing cold right now. The repair has worked out perfectly and my heater has been working better than new. I was very pleased with American Home Shield.

All my dealings with AHS have been very normal. It's the service one expects. My most recent claim was when the motherboard of my range was defective and it was affecting the oven function. Yakima Appliance went ahead and replaced it.

I'm happy with AHS. I get good service from them. I like the fact that I can budget my cost for repairs. When their contractors had come out, they had consistently only charged me the service fee to get the repairs done. I don't feel like I've been ripped off at all. It's gone up over the years but that's not a big deal and the repairs are completely done. The companies they have contracts with hire professional people because I've never been bothered by the people in my home. I had a couple of issues recently. One was an icemaker and one was a washing machine. The technician diagnosed that there wasn't anything wrong with the washing machine and it is true. For the icemaker, that was the second time they'd come out to try to repair it and it's still not working.

My sockets weren't working and I had an appliance that was out. The initial appointment was scheduled within a week. The electrician reset things and then the sockets started working. He was super nice and very informative about how to look after stuff.

The freezer was not working. I sent in a claim with AHS and it was very easy and quick. Then, a tech came out and he was very professional. He figured it out pretty quickly and got it resolved that day. This was the third claim I've had with AHS. The first one was for a pipe that broke at the pool and my experience with that was very good. The other one was for the element in my oven that broke and the techs who came out fixed it. That experience was wonderful as well.

The guy who came out for our plumbing claim was good. The toilet was leaking and it was fixed. Then the shower was leaking behind the wall. I thought it was plumbing behind the wall leaking but it wasn't. So I fixed it myself. It just needed to be caulked and the shower had a crack in it and water was spraying and getting behind the tile. But AHS doesn't replace showerheads. It wasn't the guy's fault and it wasn't a big deal.

The process of doing a claim online to American Home Shield is very easy. Sometimes, to get an actual appointment for a company to come out takes a while. But I understand that. They're busy. In a perfect world, they’d come out like today and get our hot water going again. I understand it takes a couple days. But I think the process went well.
My Georgia Plumber came out recently. We had a window that they communicated to us. Then, on the day of, the window changed on one of the appointments. It was fine because my wife happened to be home. She's working from home right now. Had it been non-COVID times, we probably wouldn't have been here. We were told 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Then, the day of, they called way earlier than 1:00 and said, “Hey, we're on the way. We'll be there in 20 minutes.” There was some kind of drastic shift in the time. It wasn't a big deal but had it been in the past when we were both at work, that would have been a problem.
We had a complex thing this time. We had a tub faucet that was leaking, and we also had a water heater that was broken. Our water heater needed to be replaced, as well as some gas line work. The faucet needed to be fixed. So, we were waiting on the water heater to be shipped to My Georgia Plumber so that they could bring it and install it. We called American Home Shield and they said, “We don't know when it's shipping.” We called My Georgia Plumber and they said, “We can't make an appointment until we get an ETA for the water heater.” We were like, “Okay, so who knows? At some point, somebody sent it, and the company should tell you something about a shipping estimation, maybe.” My Georgia Plumber was like, “Well, we don't know, so we'll talk to you later.” Meanwhile, we didn't have any hot water, and we were having to go shower at gyms and at work.
It felt a little bit like neither party really took ownership of the situation and was trying to get to the bottom of what the plan was. We were told it could be a week, two days from then or the next week. So, that was a little frustrating. My wife eventually called American Home Shield and got some more definitive information. Then, they changed the appointment to a sooner date and it was fine. But sometimes, we wish that there was a little more coordination on the part of American Home Shield to tell us, “Hey, this is what's happening. This is when something's going to arise. This is the plan, we'll let you know if it changes or whatever.”

Fast Response Heating came out for the defrost board on our AC that was frozen. They were so helpful. I didn't understand what wasn't working and the tech sat down and explained it to me really well like he was talking to a fifth-grader. I was thankful for him 'cause I always felt kind of out of my depth and I wanted to understand better as a homeowner. He gave me intro into how the AC system works so now I feel much more confident in my knowledge of how our system works. He replaced the defrost board and it's been perfect. AHS is great. They got back to me so fast and I was surprised. They were all super professional and the service was impeccable. I know that if I ever have any problems, I don't dread having to deal with it because I know that everyone will get back to me. It'll be professional and easy which is a big relief.

I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and it was pretty seamless. United Air Temp came over last week to repair my heater. It was just making a lot of noise. I was up on the terrace door and I could hear the heater cranking up whenever it was starting to heat the house. The service that was provided by United Air Temp was excellent. The tech was really good. So far, our experience with AHS has been good. We switched over from Sears Home Warranty and so far, we’ve been happy with AHS.

I had a little trouble with my washer. The water was all over the place. I called and made a complaint. AHS told me the information. I called the appliance place and told them what's going on, I've got my confirmation number, and I needed help. I knew I was supposed to wait 24 to 48 hours. I drive for a living. They made the appointment on Thursday between 3:00 and 6:00. The gentleman called me a little after 2:00 asking if he could come in 15 minutes. I told him to give me 30, 35 minutes. I was on my way home. Then he was already in the house because my husband was there. The man was extremely informative and concerned about how the washer itself was put together. American Home Shield then sent me an email that Friday afternoon saying they were replacing it.
I've had not an issue with everybody that AHS sent out. They've been straight up with me. They've been 100%. It was just that when I signed up, I was under the impression my septic tank was going to be covered. They said it was and then it turned around the next year. They said that was only the first year. It pissed me off. They won't cover my hot tub because it's not in my house. Other than that, they're very helpful on the phone. People really need to get this warranty.

The tub in the guestroom wasn’t draining at all. I went to the American Home Shield website on my phone and was able to put in a request. It was pretty easy to do but some of the issues they have listed on the website are a bit vague. I realize they can't list every single problem that might happen but some of them seemed a little bit weirdly worded to me. Within an hour after I put in the ticket for the tub, the contracting company called me. I was surprised at how quickly they called. Then the guy came out the next day and fixed it lickety-split. It was really good.
American Home Shield sent out a different contractor for a plumbing issue before, and I ended up having to call them after a couple of days because I didn't get a contact back. Then when I was calling them, their voicemail box was full. So I couldn't even leave a voicemail. I ended up having to call American Home Shield and say that these people weren't answering and I couldn't get through to them. American Home Shield had to call and contact them. It was several days of waiting to hear back from that company.
We've had to call American Home Shield several times on the same issue because the contractors come out and they are instructed to do the littlest possible to fix the problem. Don’t go overboard, fix the problem but try to spend the least amount of money doing it, because that's their business model. It’s a little bit frustrating at times but I appreciate that that's the position they're in.

The faucets were leaking. American Home Shield got with me on time and got somebody out here to fix it pretty quickly. The contractor was very professional. They gave me the right time when they were gonna be back and do everything. They did one in one day, and the other one took about a week. It's working pretty good now.

McClerklin's Electrical Service was very professional. They arrived on time. Even though a part had to be ordered and there was an extended period of time, they were still in touch with me and kept me involved in the process as far as what was going on with them searching for the part and at the point that they found the part and ordered it. So, I wasn't waiting those two weeks in the blind. I appreciated that part of it. They came back and the service was great. They expedited it and the technician was just as professional as the first. For my friends that are women who live alone, just like I do, I felt very comfortable with the technician inside my residence.

The electricity wasn't working in my son's room and the master bedroom. It was pretty simple and straightforward to submit the claim. The electrician came to my house and embarrassed me in a joking way. He just had to go to the electric box and switch something that I overlooked. So, we laughed about it. He was good and he explained certain things. I avoided getting American Home Shield for quite some time because I wasn't sure about how it worked. But a lot of people who have it had said how simple it was, so I decided to get it and it worked out.

American Home Shield sent A-US Air Conditioning of Texas for our air conditioning issue. The technicians came and they were in the attic and they were fixing the coils. My husband was here that day. I had to leave. But when I left, they were upstairs fixing the coils. They came down, went to finish it and it wasn't turning on. So they said they were going to call one of their other technicians to come by. The gentleman came back later and said that the Freon needed to be topped off. A wire was loose in the connection to the thermostat. Once he did that, it kicked on. The AC seems to be fine. We have noticed that now when it kicks on though, it kicks on hard. The return vent is right outside our door. Every time it kicks on, it kicks on to where we wake up.

My dishwasher wouldn't dry. It wouldn't go through cycles unless you keep punching buttons, opening doors, or try to make it skip over to make it go. I made a claim with AHS and the first guy that came out said that the motherboard was going bad, so he ordered some new wiring to put on there. Then, the second guy came and he didn't hook that up. He was also asking for some vinegar to try to change the filter thing. He used up my two gallons of vinegar, my two boxes of baking soda, and he still couldn't get it in. But he returned the ordered part. In the end, I got the dishwasher replaced, so I'm happy now. Everything is awesome and I love my dishwasher. All in all, AHS is reliable and having them gives me a peace of mind. I call them, they come out, and they get everything done.

The tech that came for our washing machine was a great guy. It was leaking but it wouldn't recreate when he was here. But as soon as he left, it started up again. It's an old machine so we decided just to get a new one. American Home Shield always provides really great service people and customer service. I had a really wonderful experience with the gentlemen who came out with Precision Door that did our garage door fix. He came back two days in a row and he didn't have the exact right part. But he worked and worked and worked to get it fixed. That's really been our experience with everybody that they have assigned to work on different things in our house.

American Home Shield usually takes care of whatever the problem is without any issues. One time, I was told the heat wasn't working. The repair company looked at the furnace and they determined they had to put a new furnace in because parts were not available on that furnace, which other people have told me that as well. When the unit dies, eventually, it's going to have to be changed. I was a little leery at first, but I knew they weren't making it up. They got it reported fast and it was approved then they had it all in and working in two days. They were here on a Monday and they were done by 3 o'clock on Wednesday. They were quick.

My recent claim experience with AHS was really good. It was very professional. However, the communication was a bit missing, where I have to reach out to American Home Shield to ask for updates, rather than they providing me periodic updates. But it was still a good service. One time, we had to do some maintenance work on my AC. That was all good and they were very prompt and very responsive.
Sometimes when I submit a claim on the web page, it takes a long time to get a reply back. Also, it can go back and forth multiple times before all the questions are answered. When I use the number, I can directly talk with a representative and get things resolved. It's a good experience with AHS and I would recommend it to my family and my friends.

Greenway came out for the sink and the other plumbing issues. But I had to do another order because they didn’t do the work the first time. They said that they didn’t have everything on the work order that was supposed to have been done. So the only thing they did was the sinks. They had to come back because they had to put an all-new faucet in. But they did a great job. The second technician that they sent out was very nice and professional.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield is no problem. You submit it and they charge you the 100 bucks. And then they assign a company or a technician to you. Our home is five years old. We had it built. Appliance Express honored our warranties on refrigerators, microwaves, the wall oven, most of those appliances. Before AHS came along, Appliance Express has been phenomenal. They know what they are doing, and they are professional and courteous. And this was no different. I have a freestanding ice maker which is underneath the bar. Had a guy walk in, it took him two minutes to think he found the problem, which he did. They ordered a part. Three working days later, the technician came out, put the part in. Those guys spent no more than 30 minutes in our home. And we've got ice.
I had a rare situation two months ago where we couldn’t flush a single commode in the house. We found this at 8 o'clock at night. I gave AHS the order, they came back within two hours and said, “Your contractor has been assigned.” I looked up the contractor. He opens his office at 8:00 in the morning. I give them a call at 10 to 8:00, to make sure he had my message to set up an appointment. Never called me back until 8:20. I called him. He said he couldn't get out for two days. We don't have a single commode in this house. A new and expensive home. We can’t flush it. When I called back, AHS was nice enough to take the time to find me another contractor. But it was a plumbing problem. Roots had gotten into our piping between the house and the street. But they wouldn't cover it.
We've had several minor things, like our fault circuit breakers went out, and that was done quick and easy. I could probably do it for the same amount that I pay AHS. But anything of a major expense, to this point, they have found a way not to pay for it. I had to pay. We had a garbage disposal problem. They told me, “Well, you put meat down the garbage disposal.” I did. But it's not like I put a whole roast down there. I put meat scraps. They wouldn't cover that. I'm disappointed in AHS, but some of their contractors have been excellent. AHS should cover some of these things that one would think are supposed to be covered, instead of trying to find a way out.

The valve under the bathroom sink leaked. I called AHS and it was easy to submit a claim. High Priority Plumbing & Services gave good service. Evan came out and he put some valves in. They broke while he was here and water went everywhere. He could not control that. The valves were malfunctioning. He had just stopped and bought them on the way over to my house. He was really good to us. He answered all of my questions. I went down in the basement and he talked about the valve because he was asking me questions about the pressure valve, and that's not on the warranty. He put new, higher quality valves on it. He was never unprofessional. He never got out of line.

I had a leaky kitchen faucet and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They told me that they would contact somebody and that somebody would reach out within 24 to 48 hours. A day later, Street Plumbing and Rooter called. They were pleasant and showed up a little early. They were professional and got the repair done quickly. Now, there’s no leaky faucet, which means there’s not water going down the drain that one is paying for. I've only been with AHS for about six months but so far, I’ve had a good experience with them.

The heat was not staying on. And when it was running, it was loud. The fan was loud, like metal on metal. We placed the order. East Ohio Furnace Company came out the day the order was placed. The tech was very professional. He followed all COVID procedures. He got right to work, knew what he was doing. H+e fixed a bunch of stuff. And the system is beautiful. We have not had any problems since he left. It was the easiest claim I've ever had. Have that company come out for all the problems. They were fabulous. American Home Shield has been very helpful.

I filed a claim with AHS via a phone call for an exhaust fan in the bathroom because the website was down. Submitting claims with them has always been wonderful and for this claim, the contractor called me within 24 hours and made an appointment. The techs who came out were professional and they gave me a follow-up call after they were out there. They haven't fixed the problem yet, but we will have heat in the bathroom. I lost the heater and the exhaust fan, and they are ordering the part or a replacement if they can't find the part. All in all, I've used AHS several times and my experience with them has always been easy and professional.

The contractor came in really quick and fixed the water back-up in the tub. They were very, very efficient. They were in and out in in less than 30 minutes. They were super friendly and very knowledgeable. I had some extra questions on the drains in my sink and the tech took a quick look at them and said those were fine. The back-up was caused by a big old blob of hair stuck in the drain. The tech gave me some tips on how to kind of prevent that from happening again. So we put something in place to trap all the hair so it doesn't happen again. We've always been super happy with AHS.

American Home Shield has saved me quite a bit of money on a furnace. The process went smoothly but I was a little disappointed that it took over a week for us because I was struggling with cold weather for that week. I bought a couple of space heaters and kept the house from freezing. The contractor said that American Home Shield had to order the furnace and they were waiting for it to come in. As soon as it came in, they scheduled the install the next day. The tech was nice.

My toilet kept running and I couldn't fix it. I went online and told American Home Shield the problem and they assigned a plumbing company and charged $100. The guy came out right on time and he was terrific. He fixed the toilet. He was very knowledgeable and he did a good job. It was a great experience.

I went onto the webpage to submit a claim. I called every other day to follow up because no one was calling me. A company originally came out and told me that my AC unit needed to be fully replaced. However, they were charging me for items that in my contract said should be covered by American Home Shield. I brought that to their attention. The company refused to change the invoice to remove those items that are covered in the contract so that I would just pay for the items that were not covered. I was constantly following it up and I really didn't get the resolution that I was looking for.
I ended up having to wait a few more days afterward in order for another contractor to come out. It was inconvenient and uncomfortable because my house did not have heat at that time. I wish it could have been a little bit more streamlined of a process, but I couldn't ascertain if it was American Home Shield’s fault 100%, or if it was the contractor that was scheduled to come out to my home the first time.
The ease of making a claim was very easy. But this experience soured my taste towards American Home Shield. The people that I spoke with were very apologetic when I called, but when I raised my concerns, no one ever called me back to follow up with me to make sure. The company that were contracted out to me have reached out to me twice in the past two days just to make sure everything is working, that I was satisfied with the services that they rendered. American Home Shield did not do that.
In my opinion, as the customer, to have to continue to call about a claim that I put in day after day was not the most professional way to handle things. But I also understand that it's a company that has lots of customers, I'm not the only one. I just wished that it was a little bit better customer service-wise that was provided to me. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience. I was given a one year warranty when I purchased the home and it was already included in the sale of this property. But I would not renew my contract with American Home Shield at this time. I would probably go with another company once this one year is up.

I had an electrical and a microwave problem at the same time. It took a little time, but we got them both fixed. The electrician was trying this thing and that thing and this thing when he finally came. And then, he said, "Can I put a hole in your wall?" I was like, "Yeah." But it was behind the microwave, so we covered it up. Then, he followed the trail of the cord, went into the living room, went to the socket, that was the issue. It took him some time to troubleshoot, but finally, we figured out what the problem was. And then, once he fixed it, it was good. He was good at what he did. But it was a problem that wasn't readily repaired. So, he stayed a whole hour until we finally figured it out. Also, it has ripped out all the sockets in the kitchen. The other things have been relatively straightforward, except for the microwave. It took a little more time, but it did get fixed.
The tub, no matter how much drainer I put in, it wasn't working. The contractor came and snaked out the drain. That worked fine. My guy for the garbage disposal said, "Your garbage disposal's leaking. It's old and needs to be replaced." I looked at it. I told the guy when he came out, and he said he had them on his truck and he put a brand-new red one. It's pretty. So, everything in my home is fixed now and everything is new. I have a new refrigerator, range, water heater, HVAC, and now I got a new garbage disposal.
What helps me out is I'm a new homeowner, and for two years, I've lived in this condo. And even though everything in it has been refurbished, we've had the problems that I've listed. I live in that apartment for eight years, and when you live in an apartment, if I had a maintenance issue, I would call the office, and then they would send somebody out. They usually get out in a couple of days. For me, American Home Shield is so valuable because I'm not that handy. You can't do plumbing, electrical, garbage disposal, microwave. These are things that takes an expert to do.
As a new homeowner, a single woman and prior apartment owner, it's really nice to have this service. I know there is a cap. It's 75. It used to be 50, but it went up. I pay that, the guy comes out and we're good. I'm very happy with the service. I never added it up to see was I getting the value for what I'm paying. But the thing is the convenience. If I'm working, I can just call and get somebody and get the thing fixed. I have a peace of mind, knowing I can get my stuff fixed when they break. I love AHS.

The repair guy came in on Saturday and he was able to walk me through the issue of the dishwasher and fixed it. He explained to me why my icemaker wasn't working as well. When he checked the dryer, he said that he was going to submit a report saying that something else was required and that it would require a follow-up visit. I have not heard back though. I called American Home Shield on Monday and they scheduled something in two weeks. I asked customer service if there was any way they could send someone else since I can't dry my clothes, but I'm still waiting.

The garbage disposal was leaking. Two guys came. One of them was more like a supervisor. One guy did all the work under the sink. They were very friendly, nice, and talkative. I enjoyed their company. They did a really good job. They were in and out in 20 minutes and didn't leave behind any junk. It's the first time I've used the service. I'm very impressed with what American Home Shield did. My central VAC went out. So, they had someone dispatched to come. They had a company that was called Beam Easy Living. They came out. I have never been so impressed. My central VAC, which has been here as long as I've been here, just died. A young lady came out. Her name was Britney. She said, “Okay. I don't even have a circuit board to replace, so I have to take it back to the office.” She took it back to the office. Two days later, I got a call and they said, “Okay, we got it. We fixed it. It kept blowing out. We didn't know what was going on. We got it. It's working.”
They brought another guy out named Ryan who was just as nice as Britney. He fixed it, but he said, “Something's wrong with this electrical.” First of all, it shouldn't even be where it is, and the central VAC people installed it themselves. So, I said, “Oh, really? ‘Cause it's worked for 20 years. It’s never been a problem.” He was concerned because when he left, it didn't work. I tried to use my vacuum cleaner, and it didn't work. He went to the whole house with me to check every place it plugged in. It worked, and then it didn't work.
So, I called him up. I said, “Hey, Ryan. It’s not working.” He said, “Really? Okay. I want you to do me a favor. Go find another plug, plug it in, and see if it works.” I did that, and it did. He said, “Okay. It's something wrong with that outlet.” I was like, “Oh, God, I gotta get an electrician now. What's going on?” I was thinking they're just gonna say, “Call me back,” and “No. We don’t do the central VAC. I'm sorry. You gotta fix that.” I got a call from an electrician. American Home Shield called an electrician and said, “We need you to go check on this because it's not working. It's not safely working.” They didn't want my house to blow up.
So, I'm waiting. Today, the electrician’s supposed to look at it and see if it mounted right or see where the source is. What they don't know is where's that source of electricity coming from for that outlet and why did it work for 20 years and now it's not working at all. I'm very impressed with how quickly they respond. Their website is amazing. The people are super nice.
As a matter of fact, I didn't have American Home Shield and a friend of mine, one of my neighbors, told me about them. I live in Sacramento where we get three-digit days, and I'm living in summer because I couldn't afford to get a new heater. When I heard about them, I signed up with them and had to wait three months. They came out. It was a big job. They said, “This is the minimum it's gonna cost you.” They did it. I have stories like that all day long for them.
I had a refrigerator that's just as old as my house, and it was custom front with the wood, sort of like a Sub-Zero. It died. I went looking for a new refrigerator because I forgot that American Home Shield will do all my appliances. My brother said to me, “Don't you have that American Home Shield? Just call them.” I did and my deductible was $100. Someone came out. They totally replaced the panel in the back of my refrigerator versus me having to spend $2,500 to buy a new refrigerator. So, I am grateful because one of the guys came out.
My dishwasher died. I've used them. I've got my money's worth. My molding around my floor, the bottom, my base, the wood was starting to crumble. I was like, “What’s going on?” My brother said, “You got a leak in your dishwasher.” I said, “No, I don't. There could’ve been blah, blah, blah.” He said, “No, sis. It doesn't work like that.” My brother's a contractor. So, I called AHS. Somebody came out and fixed it. I had a garage door issue. They deal with the appliance, but not the door. So, my problem was with the door. They gave me my money back. They didn't charge me the deductible. American Home Shield's contractors are very solid. They never send you junk. They really do their due diligence on vetting their service providers.

When I first started using American Home Shield, submitting a claim was easier and they did a better job. But now, it's too hard to get back through. For example, I’ll go a year and a half and not need them. But then I'll have a couple of things happen at one time. I had a garbage disposal that went out two weeks ago. I called and got the plumber. The plumber had been out before and had no problems. But there was a 10-minute lapse in the time my wife had gone to pick up the grandkids and when they called me, it was 2:20. The plumber said he could be at our house in 20 to 25 minutes. But my wife usually gets back home exactly three o'clock and I couldn't leave work that day. So I asked if he could give me a 10 or 15 minute window? But he didn't even call me back.
At 4:30, I called the plumber to find out what happened because he didn't call me back. He said the owner of the company told him to go to the next job and he wouldn't be able to get to me that day at all. I had already waited three days to get somebody there, so I called and I explained to the receptionist at the plumbing company the importance of them getting back to my house because I was without the garbage disposal. It was leaking all under my sink. Everything had been out for four days and I wanted to get it fixed. I didn't want it put off another couple of days. He said they would get somebody here the next day at three o’clock. It was scheduled 3:00 to 6:00. The guy showed up around 5:30 and he did a great job. He was in and out within 30 minutes. I was very pleased with the service.
When the washer went out, I told American Home Shield that I didn't want the guy that worked on it before. He was from Shinmen and he cussed in my house. He worked on the microwave and then he had to work on the same washer. He had such an attitude. He slammed stuff around. I called the company back and found out that he had been with the company for two weeks. There was no training. So this time around, American Home Shield sent out Sears. They came in Monday of this week. They told me the part for my washer was no longer available. So I've been waiting since Monday to hear about that and now it’s Thursday. They promised me last night after being on the phone for an hour that they would call me today and let me know something about the washer. Overall, American Home Shield has good service. But the quality of some of the repairmen are not as good as they used to be.

There was a leak and we weren’t initially able to locate where it was coming from. We eventually did and we were able to get a plumber to come out. He needed to replace the laundry box, which he did. But, in doing so, you have to cut a significant section. Then, there were leaks coming through the garage and he cut some right there too. Nick, the contractor, came out today and rough patched both of those areas. He was prompt and professional. It would be nice if everything could get resolved just in one ticket. But for something like this, we had to involve a number of different contractors. Given that it was a complicated issue, everyone handled it well. We're satisfied with American Home Shield.

An outlet in my laundry room was not working. The electrician came out and determined he was unable to find the wiring. He would be back in contact with American Home Shield to potentially request another visit out to locate the wiring through, possibly, the ceiling. American Home Shield seems to be a good service.

At first, there was a company that was supposed to contact me and they didn't. So, I called American Home Shield and they connected me to Tom Melton Services. They came the next day. The repair guy had to unclog some water from my basement. The water was bad so he had to run his machine there to clear it. I was satisfied with the service. AHS is something you should have because you never know what might happen in your house such as calling the plumber. It helps a lot.

When I had my recent claim for my furnace, everything was done in a timely manner. The tech did his job and everything is working so far. I like AHS. The only thing I had that I wasn't aware of in the beginning was the coverage. I have a well and a septic. The septic was only covered the first year which I wasn't aware of. It's important to me that it would be covered all the time in case I had a problem with it. Other than that, everything is good and I'm pleased with my AHS warranty.

Do not buy this warranty. If there was an option for zero stars I would have given it. Horrible service, no follow thru and they do everything they can to not replace appliances they know can not be fixed. My 80 year old parents have been waiting over 2 months for a refrigerator repair and they refuse to replace the unit. 3 repairmen have been out, nobody can fix it. Keep your money, American Home Shield is awful.

I own properties all over California and Utah, have felt with many home warranty companies after escrow for other homes and this one is by far the single worst for customer service, response time, and helpfulness! I am in a state of complete shock for how I have been treated as if my claim is a bother to them. I just purchased a condo, cleared inspection for the heating system in my place which is a hydronic system, split system that runs off of my water heater with no furnace in my place!
The hot water regulator is broken due to normal wear and tear and since the system is obsolete, the parts don’t exist anymore for a heating company to replace this part as Home Shield couldn’t even find a vendor to work on this unit and authorized me to use a third party who has worked in this condo complex since it was built and spoke to the authorization department once on site to diagnosis the hearing issue which requires running the heat off of the compressor because the old unit now doesn’t exist to update it with the same parts.
We had three people and myself on a call with Trisha in authorization who was so rude and unprofessional and antagonistic towards all of us, everyone was shocked by her demeanor and complained about it. She denied the authorization claiming that no work would be allowed on a part of the compressor that is in working condition but what she failed to understand is that there is no fixing the current system that is obsolete and runs off of a water heater. In order to get heat into my place currently with temperatures at 50 degrees inside my home, means that a heating company has to route it through the condenser adding a part inside the confessor on the roof which means substituting hydronic working off of water with working off of refrigerant.
I was told that Home shield would only pay for the part that is broken. But they can’t find anyone to give me heat because this part doesn’t exist on the open markets. Systems are being updated because the old is so obsolete and then I am told that my maximum payout is 2000.00 for water system failure when this job to get my heat costs 7,200.00 by heating companies estimates because the current system can’t be fixed as is. I’m expected to then come up with 5000.00 on my own for which I don’t have in order to get heat and apply the 2000 towards a repair that costs far more than 2000.00.
I am left with no heat and the ability financially to get heat into my place because Home Shield can’t solve this problem. What is the point of paying for a home warranty when your heat stops working off of an old system due to normal wear and tear and that part that doesn’t work isn’t replaceable at all. I am in tears over this, feeling as though customers of Home Shield don’t matter to them as they cut as many corners as they can to not make things right!

The heating claim went well. The problem is I also had plumbing issues. The shower in my main bathroom is not working. They put a new showerhead in there but I can't use it because the water is too hot. The only way it's not hot is I turn it off. No matter how low it is, it's still extremely hot. I'm kind of losing hope with American Home Shield. The first time somebody came out, it was some guy that had a stank attitude and didn't want to keep his mask on. This is my home, not his, and in my home, we wear mask when we're in mixed company. If you come in my house, you need to have a mask on and he didn't want to honor that. He left and said nothing was wrong but there were things that were wrong.
I called and the next person came out and fixed all those things that were wrong. But they tried to bill me another $100 for the guy coming out and not doing anything. I'm paying monthly then I have to pay $100 for a service call but I'm not getting things taken care of that I need taken care of. Now, if I call again because the shower is not doing what I need it to do, will I be charged another $100? It seems like the bottom line is money rather than customer service which I guess that's how things are in the world.

When we did a request over the phone, it was easy and then American Home Shield had somebody contact us. It was the next morning when we got a call from the people that came out and did the job. During the crazy 24-inch snowstorm, it took two days for them to get out to see us. It would have been nice to try to have them come out sooner because our heater was off. It was 12 degrees, so things were a little chilly. We’ve got animals in the house too. Other than that, they did a good job getting out here during the middle of a snowstorm, at least. I'm sure there's a ton of calls going on city-wide with heater issues when that kind of a storm hits.
The contractor came out when they said they would. They arrived on time, and the gentleman was very knowledgeable. Our unit’s located on the roof and he got right up there. He only spent 45 minutes, and he found the problem. He fixed it, and we’ve had no problems since. Everything was done very orderly and professionally. We also have a rental property and because of how well AHS did, we want to reach out and add another location.

I had a leaky refrigerator and a leaking dishwasher. The tech came and determined that the refrigerator had a clogged water line and the dishwasher had a faulty valve. He replaced the valve and so far, everything is working okay. The service was fantastic. I'd use them independently and I would recommend AHS.

The tech came out three times for the furnace. On the third time, he found the problem. It was some pressure switch. He changed that, and it's been working fine. We also used AHS last year with the air conditioner and everything went well with that. Everything has been great with AHS.

The work that I called about was split into different sections. One thing, the repair company was able to fix immediately. Another thing, they had to send out for repairs, while the other one, they don’t do that type of work. They were very honest and upfront of letting me know what they were and weren't capable of doing. Being that there's a part that couldn't be replaced, we had to find another model. AHS paid us for the worth of one of the appliances, and then we just had to go out and find it at one of their affiliates at Lowe's, which was a good experience. I was very pleased with American Home Shield.
The technician sent out here was outstanding as well. We wanted him to look at the door handle. It was loosened and it wasn't closing the oven correctly. He took everything off and it was almost like he did a check on a car. Once he had it open, he did his checks, and then he explained to me what he was doing and why he was doing it to make sure that the error codes didn't pop up. He was very informative and he really checked everything to make sure everything was good. I appreciated that. I was pleased with him, his customer service and his professionalism.

The faucet was not shutting off. I’ve tried to shut it off on the bottom, and I wasn't even able to turn that. So the water kept coming and dropping. I called American Home Shield and they scheduled the service. Sirius was fairly quick with their response. They came out and they had to replace the parts. Overall, the service was excellent. But the first couple of times when I had to call on American Home Shield for other stuff, the voice prompt was a bit annoying for me to get through. It's gotten better last couple of times, as per their response and dealing with Sirius.
The first time I had to call American Home Shield, some other company came over and they didn’t diagnose the problem correctly. They said it had to be cleaned from the top. But when the Sirius guy came out, he was able to fix it without having to go to the roof. That’s why I preferred to go to Sirius and their turnaround was faster and more friendlier service.
Sometimes when I call American Home Shield, they directly answer the call. But if I have to go through the prompts and they're experiencing high calls, the voice prompt can take a little bit of time. When the automated computer voice prompt asks what the problem is, it doesn't recognize what I'm saying, and it transfers to some other group, and it gets to be further delayed. But once the reps get ahold of me, they schedule it pretty quick. But the last couple of times I had to call on Sirius or American Home Shield, the experiences has been excellent. I've had to call on American Home Shield a few times and they were able to fix the problems. Overall, I'm grateful that they're there to help me out.

The hot water tank quit and the contractor replaced it. It took a couple of days because they came out the first time and the tech wasn't sure how they would do it, and he had to get approval. We have used American Home Shield a few times since we moved into the house.

The dishwasher wasn't working. Everything went great when I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The techs came right away, but they had to order a part and it took a couple of months for all the parts to come in. They were very professional. We had a plumbing claim a couple of days before that, and the tech was excellent too. He gave me some good tips on how to keep the pipes clean. American Home Shield responds right away. All of my issues have been addressed, so that's good.

We put in a claim and Tommy D Appliance reached out to me. Due to COVID, it took a while to get the parts but once the parts came, everything was great. They came multiple times to ensure that the equipment was up and running. AHS did save me money. The one claim covered my refrigerator and my stove.

There was a leak from the washing machine. American Home Shield sent the plumber out and he couldn't find the leak so that was a little concerning. The plumber suggested that maybe the leak was a fluke and maybe the washing machine was overloaded. What the plumber suggested was that we watch the equipment for a while and see if the leak comes back. My contract says that if something is wrong within 60 days, they come back and they don't charge me again.
I have another issue that's still unresolved. I'm still waiting for approval from American Home Shield for a furnace that's pushing out through the air ducts. It's really gotten me a little upset. The people that they assigned it to came and diagnosed it as a cracked heat exchanger. They said that you can’t replace them. I googled it and confirmed. The company that's prepared to replace the furnace found the furnace. It was a special thing because of the size. They've got the furnace sitting by and American Home Shield who has not yet authorized it even though they said it was expedited. It's a serious issue. If the furnace continues to operate this way, it will either run or conk out then we'll have pipes freezing. Or worse than that, it will cause a problem throughout the entire house which will cost me a lot of money which will make me wanna sue somebody.
There was also an oil burner issue on one of the houses. They couldn't get anyone to come out on Sunday last week to help and the furnace was dead. So, my son-in-law had to call and ask for the emergency service from a company in our town. They came out in 15 minutes and fortunately fixed it and only charged a couple hundred dollars. But that's a couple hundred dollars I didn't plan on spending. I have five policies and the fees are 600 bucks a month. That's a lot of money that I'm investing in American Home Shield. For that reason, I thought that they should have some kind of emergency service. The temperatures here were dropping into the 20s. Without having the furnace, having my daughter, my son-in-law and my four grandkids in the house with no heat was very upsetting.
The people that I’ve dealt with from the actual company have tried their best to help me. Sometimes it's difficult to understand them because they're not speaking English very well. That’s especially when it's an odd time that I call them and sometimes, their communication breaks up. But as far as American Home Shield getting someone to respond to contact me, that all works fine. Their responsiveness to putting through a request for service to a vendor is good.

AHS was referred to me by my uncle and I would also refer them to other people if they need a warranty company. My most recent experience was with Hotshot Appliance Service and they had the problem with the washer identified in 15, 20 minutes. They changed out a part that was bad. They were very kind and did a great job. However, it took two or three days before I had a lady call me to set up service. It would be nice if somebody could respond back online and do it online versus having to answer a phone call.

American Home Shield has been very consistent with me. I had a sewer smell and it's from an old washer hookup that I have that was never capped off. It was happening about the time that we were having heavy rains. So it was very complicated. I sent in a claim and asked for Bestway because they came out on another issue and they did a really good job. So they came and they did a good job. They did not fix it because it was not covered. But they're supposed to be calling me back with an estimate.

There was a problem with the heat exchanger. It was overheating. The tech thought it was something that was plugging either the filter or something else was plugging the vent leading to that. He had to get a new filter and that seems to have fixed the problem. I did the claim to American Home Shield online. It was easy.

The service provided by Fix-It Appliance didn't repair the problem with the refrigerator that isn't getting any water. I called a different company and didn't notify AHS because I don't want to talk to that stupid computer thing. That robot doesn't listen to what you have to say. I'd like to talk to a human but it doesn't ask if I want to. That's the first time I've ever used AHS and I'm wasting my money. I'm dissatisfied with them. I wouldn't recommend the tech because he didn't fix the problem.

I submitted the claim back on January 18th. Messina Plumbing was assigned to come over and get me taken care of. But I didn't hear from anyone, so I called American Home Shield and talked to several people. I talked to a supervisor on January 22nd and the supervisor assured me someone was going to call me immediately. Messina Plumbing called the same day that I talked to the supervisor. Messina Plumbing scheduled an appointment with me the following week, Wednesday, to get it done.
I also heard from Elite Renovations. Elite Renovations was the same company that came and did the job first time back in March of 2020. They said they got the garbage disposal to work. It worked when they left. But months later, I didn't use it, and then it stopped working again. When I discovered it, I called it in. They didn't do it right. So this time, when I realized Elite Renovations was that company, I told them that Messina Plumbing was going to be showing up. Messina Plumbing came over and fixed the problems. They got me a new garbage disposal. The old one was defective.
The tech from Messina was a very honest man. But I don't like the fact that Elite Renovations didn't do the job properly. They could have discovered what was wrong with it. I was close to canceling everything. The experience with the customer service reps were very horrible. American Home Shield's customer service is all overseas. Mostly, they were foreigners. The last person I talked to wanted to spite me. I called because the tech from Messina had to call me and say that he was not paid. But the rep said there was no claim in the system, which I know there was already a claim. She was very, very rude. I've had great experience with American Home Shield until this claim for this garbage disposal that I had to repeatedly call back in. It's like they only have two companies working for them in my area, which are Messina Plumbing and Elite Renovations.

The techs that AHS sent out rekeyed doors to our house and they were good. But on a separate claim, AHS approved a reimbursement for us and now, they've been silent about it. We submitted the receipt and we haven't been able to get ahold of them. They're not returning our calls or acknowledging our emails. They should be more transparent about reimbursements.

American Home Shield has always been there for me. I've heard other people had problems with claims but I've never had any issues. When I needed someone, AHS went beyond. They couldn't find anybody but they kept pressing to see if they could find someone because the service tech that they gave me never even got back to me. They found this contractor and I was very impressed because the tech came out on a Sunday. Most of them don't work on Sundays. My refrigerator was leaking water and it was running downstairs. It looked like it was coming from the icemaker. He fixed the problem and then, there was another valve he was uncomfortable with. So, he came back and changed that even after the ticket was closed. He went over and beyond what he should have done.

The lady that enrolled me to American Home Shield didn’t inform me that every time they came out, I had to pay $100. She told me I only had to pay $100 every time they did a different thing. I had to pay a one-time fee for the heater and one-time fee for the air conditioner. But that was not happening. Every time I call American Home Shield, they take $100 out before the contractor ever get to my house. But that's not what I was told. So that was false advertising. My neighbor told me the exact same thing. She was the one who talked me into getting them, and when she found out, she let them go. So I'm thinking about the same thing. These people are not telling the truth when they enroll you and that's not fine. If you look at my account, you can see how many times I paid $100 on the same claim for my furnace.

The heat pump fan went out and the guy from S & L Air Conditioning called and texted the very next day. They sent somebody out promptly. The techs came out and addressed the issue. They ordered a new motor for the fan but someone sent them the wrong motor. So, they came out to fix it. Once they got the motor in the next day, they realized that they got sent the wrong fan, so, they had to reorder the motor and come back out. They finished the work last Saturday so I was very happy with them. They were very prompt and got it done before it snowed here. They were great. I've had contractors come out on a number of things, whether it's a stove or another inside HVAC issue. I’ve never had any issues with American Home Shield covering the service and with people they’ve assigned. So, I’m very satisfied with them.

I had EaZy Appliance come out and try to fix three different appliances. The dryer and the dishwasher were fixed. There were a couple of broken parts. The washer was leaking and I said I needed it fixed, and it was just adjusted. They looked at it and they said it was not leaking. The second that they left, it continued to leak. So, I resubmitted another claim, and they're coming back out later. Overall, the tech did his job and it was great.

We had a bathtub that wasn't draining properly. I called American Home Shield's 800 number and the submission process was relatively simple. The rep I spoke to said that she didn't have the information on when the tech would come out and said that I had to call the contractor for that. Then, a tech from APC Plumbing came out to fix the issue and he had it fixed within about 10 minutes which was pretty amazing. There was a clog that was too far into the pipes for me to be able to get on my own and he put sodium hydroxide on the drain which cleared everything out. Since then, the bathtub has been working beautifully. All in all, our experience with AHS has been pretty darn good so far.

I woke up one morning and my thermostat would not go above 58. I would have to restart the system every single time. I would have to switch a little button off then turn it back on or I would press a little button on there a bunch of times so it rolled over and it would restart the system. Over the phone, the DCS guy said it sounded like it was an automatic off. Every time I restart the system, it would turn the air back on but it would eventually shut off every time. He came out and fixed it in 0 minutes. It was great.
When I first called AHS, it took me to an automated voice message where you could state your problem and that was fine. But it got to the portion where you had to pay the $100 to get your house serviced, and I didn't feel comfortable putting my credit card over an automated service. So I did call back and I found a human being. They should also let new customers know ahead of time like in big bold letters that they don't cover foundational issues for houses. I'm bummed about them not covering the foundational aspects of the house. But working with them is very pleasant. Both the HVAC person and the Budget AC person called within a couple hours and I saw them within a couple days. It was very fast.

We have a bottom oven with a microwave on top and the turntable in the microwave was not working. The guys that came out were helpful. At first, it was just the first gentleman that came out to diagnose the issue. When they came back, there were two gentlemen. I like to talk, so they were chit-chatting with me and they answered all my questions. They did excellent.
Normally, I call when I do my claim. For me, it's easier because trying to do the automated one through the app or on the internet doesn't give you the best choices. Also, once something's scheduled with the contractor for repair (or whatever it may be), AHS should keep following up with them to make sure that they're doing it. I had an issue with something and it took a little longer than normal because it got lost in limbo for a bit. This could have been all because COVID was happening, but they could follow up once they give the authorization to do something to make sure that all parties involved know the status and what's going on with it.

My furnace kept firing up and I could hear the burner turn on. The burner would shut off then it would blow cold air. I contacted American Home Shield and within 2 hours the tech had it fixed. He was professional and he knew what he was doing. It was wonderful. I'm glad I signed up for AHS. It makes me feel good that in case something goes wrong, if I don't have the money right away to fix it, I can get the job done.

There was a leak from the bathtub, a leak in the kitchen and a leak from the sink. There was one pipe that was not fixed though. It leaked along with the others, but it was kind of home-fixed by my husband, so the plumber did not think that it was included in the job that he was given at that time. Since it was not leaking when he came around, he just left it alone. But he was really good.
There's damage to the flooring, too. I'm not sure where we stand if Home Shield has that coverage also. I have to check my contract if Home Shield covers that. The first time that we used the service, we struggled. We did a cash settlement because the one that was quoted to us from our contractor was so high, so American Home Shield offered us a cash settlement and we had someone do it for less, which is equal to the amount of the cash settlement that they have given us. We have a little overage but it was doable. Overall, American Home Shield's response time was very good and the experts that they sent for that particular job did their job as well.

I had a claim for the doorbell. American Home Shield set up the appointment quickly and the doorbell guy was quick to give us an appointment. He came out and turned out to be something really small kind of fix and it was easy and done very fast. Then just today, I had the fridge guy over, and no one told me I have to defrost the fridge for three days. He's gonna come back to fix a part. Overall, American Home Shield is worth the price, but they could cover a little bit more.

I called American Home Shield when I had a leak in the kitchen and the bathroom sink both at the same time. The two gentlemen that came out were fantastic. They did a phenomenal job. I thanked them very much. They went directly to the source, and I had to leave work to meet them here because my wife was here. By the time I got here, they were halfway finished.
I had one guy come here that I was highly disappointed with, but I left it alone. What the guy was doing was unreal. He came to my house and told me what had to be done was gonna cost me about $700 to $800. I just had a second opinion come in here and the guy took the screwdriver and went to my panel where the breakers are, and all he did was stuck the screwdriver in and tightened up the breakers. I haven't had a problem since. I didn't spend the $700 like this other guy was saying, so I felt good with that.
I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. When I call, they directed me and they told me it'd be about 48 hours. They told me if I wanted, I could call the plumbing company. I called the plumbing company, and the person I spoke to was able to get them out here the very next day. American Home Shield has been great so far.

My claim with American Home Shield went great and I appreciate them. A tech came and he was very professional. He threw the switches in the box out in my garage. He then went in the bedroom and he checked the receptacle behind my armoire. He found there was a burnt wire and within 15 minutes, he had it fixed. He was fantastic. Everything's working great.

American Home Shield always fixes whatever breaks in my house. When our air conditioner wasn't working, two different companies came out because one did something and it still didn't work. So American Home Shield sent a different company and the technician actually fixed it. Now, my refrigerator is not working. The contractor was gonna fix it on Monday but I work 12-hour shifts and I work Sunday through Wednesday. So they are supposed to come on Thursday to fix it.

When I called American Home Shield, they gave me the number of the contractor for the dryer. They responded. I told them that I am taking care of elderly people and I need the dryer ASAP. They said they were following protocols because they had to order the parts and wait for it. I understood that one. I was just frustrated because with almost a week, we could not use the dryer. Imagine how hard it is for us. When we put things in the dryer, once it's done, it's a little bit soft. Whereas if we dry it outside under the sun, it is a different kind. I was telling them that I am regulated by the Bureau of Health. If they come and see that I'm not using the dryer, I will be penalized. But they did their best.
With things like this, I suggest that contractors respond ASAP because I already told them from the very beginning. Sometimes, when I call, the contractor will not call right away. I call them. But once they come, they do a good job. I always have good experiences with American Home Shield that's why I always recommend it to my friends.

Sears came out to repair my freezer portion in my lower portion of my refrigerator. It was totally frosted over and nothing would work. The fella who came was really great. We're on total lockdown here where I live at that time. So, I was in my bedroom the whole time. My daughter handled it because I'm older and she won't let me near anybody. She talked to the gentleman, but I was right here. It's right off my bedroom where my kitchen is and I could hear everything. He explained what he was doing. He cleaned the whole thing, scraped it and made the repair, and he was gone. He was really good. I've had no problems with this freezer since he was here.
I've had American Home Shield for close to 10 years now and I have recommended it to other people. As a matter of fact, I recommended it to my daughter and son-in-law, and they now have American Home Shield. They do immediate response. Over the years, I've had either three or four calls that I've had to make for things that went wrong here, and they were right on it immediately, and they got out the repair people. Where I live is kind of far away from a metropolitan area, and they had to have one time a man from Vancouver, Washington come, and I'm in Oregon. Another time was a man from Portland, Oregon, which is 70 miles at least away. Vancouver is even more. I've had Sears come twice, but they were only 20 miles away. But everything was done so efficiently. I had someone else when I lived in Arizona and I will say American Home Shield is excellent.

I had a problem with the fridge and the tech that AHS sent out couldn't fix it. So, our home insurance people replaced it. But as far as the quality of service that they were trying to give us, it was great. The tech was polite, on time, and very knowledgeable. He was also easy to work with. Our new fridge is amazing and overall, our experience with AHS was easy and amazing.

I had a broken dishwasher and it was the first time I made a claim to American Home Shield. So, I didn't quite understand the process going into it. But talking to a representative, I got the claim submitted and it went off without a hitch after that. The experience was great once I understood everything that was going on. The tech was great too and we would have him again anytime. There was one other contractor for a leaking pipe and another one on my furnace going out, and everything has been fixed.

We had a problem with our stove and I called AHS around 10:30 that night. Someone answered the phone, the rep took care of it right away, and the next day, somebody from Sears came out to repair it. I was so impressed with that. The tech who came out was very nice and professional. He went right to work and he even had something he made himself to help slide the stove out from a tight spot. He seemed to be well prepared.

I had a claim for a water heater and this company called and came out. But it’s been over three months ago and they haven't solved the problem. When they first came and installed the water heater, they said they were going to come and pick up the old water heater the next day. But it was out there for a month. I was calling and they never answered my calls or messages. They ignored me completely and I'm very unsatisfied with this company. I hope Home Shield will never refer their customers to this company because they're not good at all. But it was Home Shield’s fault. It’s these contractors that are not responding to what they’re supposed to do. They came four times and never fixed the problem.
Finally, they said that the unit needed to be replaced and I haven't heard from them since three weeks ago. And I'm not willing to waste my time anymore calling them. One day, I spent two hours calling them and they never answered or called me back. So last week, I talked to Home Shield and they said they were going to take care of this. I haven't heard from Home Shield either but they were always trying to help.

We had a stoppage somewhere deep in the pipe in the basement, which was going on from the kitchen sink towards the main pipe in the basement. This was the first time I used the website to request a service online. Previously, I usually called for assistance, which took a bit longer, and somehow, the request handling itself took sometimes much longer. I filed the claim late in the evening, then, next day, I already got a call from Gaithersburg Plumbing. We agreed that in one or two days, they would be coming, and this was all very fast. The gentleman who came was very professional and knowledgeable, especially considering his age. He wore the mask and some special covers on his shoes. He helped us and he used a special tool to clean the stoppage. It took about 40 minutes to complete the task and after that, everything was working fine. I was very satisfied with the service.

Our water heater quit working. AHS initially said on the call that it would be a couple of days. When my wife said, “We don't have any hot water. Can we get someone sooner than that?” then they were able to escalate and then someone came out that day. So that was good. It ended up being a cracked flex hose above it, which had dribbled water and it shorted out the heating element. The tech fixed the hose, cleaned up the heating element and got it going again. Also, it may have shorted out a recycling pump and they replaced that too. However, that day, it didn't seem to be heating up as quickly anymore, so I called them again. They came back and noticed something. They fixed it right away and got it working again.

I had two issues at the same time. The electrician was great. They were polite, respectful and professional. The switch wasn’t working and they changed it. They fixed the problem. With the plumbing issue, I'm angry and not satisfied at all. We've had this very high squeaking noise in the bathroom with the pipes. I called American Home Shield and specifically told them what the issue is. They said it's covered. Also the tubs are clogged up. Grade A plumbing came out and the plumber was terrible. He was rude and disrespectful. When I spoke to him on the phone, I did ask if he was going to be wearing a mask and he seemed annoyed by that. I believe in wearing masks because there's a virus and he seemed annoyed by that so I don't know from the get-go if it wasn't going well.
When he came here, he said, “If I don't hear the noise, I can't do anything. If you were a private customer, I'd be able to do more.” Then he was calling his boss. He wanted me to stand there because he didn't know what to do. He was dismissing me as a woman by saying, “I've got this woman standing here.” That's sexist and completely inappropriate language. It's totally unacceptable. He told me to stand there and this is my house. He was so obnoxious. I asked if I could talk to the boss and explain the situation but he boss didn’t want to talk to me.
There are two other people who live with me and they hear the noise too. He was making it like I am crazy and hearing this noise when I'm not. I told him to look at common causes of pipe issues and that it's coming from the main bathroom. It's probably the toilet. Also, he did absolutely nothing with the bathtub. I asked, “Are you going to fix the bathtub?” He said, “No. If you're going to call American Home Shield, they could send someone else out to do that.” American Home Shield has charged me but he did nothing. I don't want this guy in my house. I don't need to be treated like this.
The tubs are not draining well and there's something wrong with the toilet. It's not happening as often as it was, but it still makes this high noise. I've called American Home Shield numerous times. Three different people insisted they would look into this and have the manager call me back but nobody called me back. It's ridiculous. I've had American Home Shield for years. They don't charge as much and they've also paid for some things before so I appreciate that. But the companies that they work with, typically, are bad. I would not recommend them to someone else and I'm looking into finding a different warranty company.

I've been with American Home Shield for almost 20 years and my only complaint would be that it's expensive now. It wasn't always as expensive and if I was a good saver, I wouldn't have it. $65 a month times 12 is a lot and then there's the $75 fee. It doesn't need to get any more expensive, or I may have to get rid of it. Also, the warranty can be a little more inclusive. As expensive as it is now, it should cover everything.

I've submitted a claim on the phone a few times with AHS, and usually, the people weren't so nice. So, it's easier to just do it myself online and be done with it. I've had some bad experiences before with the techs but Discount Contractors were really nice, respectful and on time. They were here when they said they would be and they made sure to call me to get the appointment in. They did the job. It works. It's not leaking anymore.

The water dispenser was not functioning properly. The system that dispenses the water was not working properly. It was nothing we could do to make it continue to work. I let American Home Shield know about it. I got a text message fairly quickly to let me know who the contractor was and who I was going to be looking for. The tech understood what I needed. He understood what the problem was. He was knowledgeable. He knew what was going on right away. He had to order a part, and it came in pretty quickly. It came in like a couple of days. Then, he called me and said he had the part and when could he come, and he came out right away. Everything is functioning as it should.

When the dryer wasn't working, the contractor was able to schedule the repair the same week. We were kind of afraid we would miss it because we had appointment to get our covid-19 vaccine shot but it worked out okay. Come to find out, it was the door switch. It took the tech about 20 minutes to fix it so I was very pleased.

My dryer broke so I called the service and they called in a technician. He came in on schedule. He was nice and very knowledgeable. He checked the situation and said he needed a part and ordered it. Then he put a quick fix on the dryer and said that will last until the part comes in and it did. The part came in, he called me back and scheduled another date. He came back, put it in, and it was done.

I had an AC repair claim to American Home Shield and they got it going. The contractor was great. They came the same day and had it fixed the next morning. They were really nice people. I've been with American Home Shield a long time and I've had good and bad experiences. Right now, my air conditioner is 26 years old and you can't get new parts for them. It's gonna die here before long, and they just keep putting band-aids on it. They're just spending more money on it. I like American Home Shield when I have it but as long as I've had it, I could have paid for everything that I've had done. I've not used it enough to get my money's worth. I pay for it on two homes.

EJ's Appliance came out twice 'cause I put in two claims for my dryer and dishwasher. They called me within 10 minutes of me submitting the claim and then they had someone out to my house just within two hours. In both cases that they came out, they had to have a part ordered, but they were both back out within 72 hours and were in the house less than an hour, and both of the appliances were working great. I was very impressed. Both times were amazing.
The problem with the dryer was the fact that it wouldn't stop unless you open the door. It'd just keep going even when the power went out. On top of that, when the guy was done, he explained that wherever the lint goes through and then passes out of the house needs to get cleaned. He gave me some tips on that. He also gave me some tips on how to keep the dishwasher maintained and running good moving forward.
I've had more wore out since I've had this contract. It wasn't expected. It was a security blanket for the HVAC and the heater because if they'd go out, I wouldn't have the funds to replace them right now. We've used AHS now five or six times the last year and the servicemen have been great. It's been really good this year and I plan on renewing just to keep the security blanket going.

The tech was great, very friendly, and got everything done in a timely manner. We had a refrigerator-freezer repaired and an icemaker, and it is working fine. American Home Shield is very easy to deal with and the problem was handled very quickly. Everything is good.

The most recent claim we had with AHS was a dishwasher repair. We weren’t getting any water into the dishwasher. AHS has an excellent website and the claims process was very easy and great. The techs contacted me the same day I submitted a claim. The gentleman they sent out was fantastic. He looked at it and told us what it was. I was so impressed because it was right around the Christmas holiday and I was so worried about not having it for Christmas. They came out and repaired it within two days on Christmas Eve. We haven’t been with American Home Shield for very long, but we've been very impressed. I would definitely recommend them.

NW Sundance came to reset and recalibrate our oil furnace. The guy was super quick, efficient, and friendly. Then it stopped working again. He came out again yesterday. It was just that the follow-up appointment wasn't clear whether I was charged for that or not. But I could check my account to verify that. Then the only thing that is sometimes tricky is when submitting the claim, it's sort of very generalized. Like for me, it would just be oil furnace. But I didn't see, necessarily, a space to write what the issue was, and so I was not sure what information was conveyed with the technician before he came out. If it'd be possible to include more information when submitting the request, it might be easier for the technician to know ahead of time what he would be working on. But it was a good experience overall.

Water was coming from under my toilet and up in my tub and it wasn't draining. The contractor that was sent was very friendly, knowledgeable, and talked us through everything. They got the job done. American Home Shield is very fast and efficient.

The price from American Home Shield is affordable and it's best to have a home warranty plan to keep from having to pay thousands of dollars out for things if it goes wrong. I used to file claims on the web page but this time, I called to do it. If you had two things, it'd be easier to call them. The guy from Flash Garage Door Service was nice and professional. My garage was fixed and it was great. Then we'll have someone come in today to fix the electrical stuff that I'm having.

I'm totally satisfied with my experience with AHS. They sent a very professional technician. I was happy to see he was elderly. He went in, did the job and there was no fooling around. He was qualified, polite and clean. I couldn't ask for a better person. I wasn't afraid of having him in my house. However, with another agency that I use for my air conditioner, ACE, the guy charged me $799 for a thermostat that costs 100 bucks. When I called them and told them I was gonna sue them and I was gonna put them on blast, they returned the money. But, they kept charging me a monthly fee. I had to go to the bank, change my bank account number on the card, so they wouldn't continue to take it out.
One time, I needed a rim. The bathroom was damping the toilet bowl. The tech came in and he did it all by himself. There was no mess in the bathroom, just quick and fast. The only thing he asked was, he was going to check my contract to make sure that that was covered and it was. I couldn't ask for better. I feel good that I know that my stuff is covered. I love AHS.

The tech from West Maintenance did a good job on my heating claim. He came in and told me what was wrong right away. He said that he gotta get the motor and he came back with one. He changed out the motor and I had heat. It was a good experience.

Our hot water tank hasn't been heating and working up how we wanted it to. So we went to American Home Shield because we've used them for other things in the house. They sent somebody out and looked at it. It's not broken where we could get a new one, but he gave us some tips to flush out the system to hopefully get it working a little better. We did the flush a couple of times, like he suggested. It's still not holding the hot water as long as we'd like, but it's enough to kind of get through until we can save up some money and get a new hot water in there.
Our furnace went out within the first year of buying our house. We had to have a whole furnace replaced and that experience made us continue on with American Home Shield. They are very reliable and quick. I like the website because you can see your home contract and then immediately schedule service, to see what's covered and what's not.

I thought that my heat wasn't working because it never got warm. Only one room at my whole house stays warm and the other parts are always cold. I submitted a claim with AHS and they sent out a tech. The heating unit showed that the heat was working right and he said that it was. He just verified that the temperature was correct and that the unit was reading 68 and he didn't do anything. Other than that, everything's fine and I like AHS.

My oven nearly burned the house down on Christmas. So, we had a tech come look at that, so that we could make sure that the oven didn't need replaced, or what was going on. We also had him look at the dishwasher that hadn't been cleaning very properly, and the washer and dryer, which just kind of had some slow runtimes. He did a nice job of diagnosing everything. I was without an oven for less than 24 hours. We waited until the day after Christmas to file the claim to American Home Shield. My friend’s a real estate agent, and she said that they would send somebody out Christmas Day because they are so fast, and we didn’t wanna pull anyone away on the holiday. I put the request in at 9:00 AM on the 26th. The tech was here by 1:00, and he was here maybe an hour and a half. It was very reasonable for what I had him look at.
When he came in, he said it just needed recalibrated. He read the manual, showed me where the manual was and showed that it wasn’t holding temperature at all, which explained why I kept yelling at my husband for cooking too slow. Nothing was cooking to temp. So, I felt bad. I had apologized to my husband for being rude about his cook times.
AHS has done a great job. Power of Red did an amazing job. AHS looked at our AC earlier in the fall. The guy that came out and did it was fantastic. We will use the company he was from again in the future. The only comment I had was at the time, the contract was really unclear and I couldn't get the customer service rep for the AC repair to adequately explain why something wasn't covered under the contract. In the end, when I talked to the sales rep who sold us the plan, I told him that I don't mind paying for it. I just wanted to know why it wasn't covered.
The rep kept referring to the wrong provision of the contract because he didn't know the reason why it was being denied. I just wanted to know the reason, so I could note it because it was a $400 out-of-pocket expenditure. I just wish the customer service rep was a little bit more knowledgeable about the contract terms. But as far as the second call with Power of Red, he was a really nice guy, and was delightful to have in the house. Especially after Christmas, it was nice to have him. Overall, we’re satisfied with it.

I, like most, researched Home Warranty Companies before selecting American Home Shield. From information available I thought they were upstanding...Not so much...My A/C unit is an older one so I mostly wanted to get protection in the event in would fail. Since replacing this would cost upwards of $10.000.00 I made sure I got the plan that covers mechanical items in the home. When purchasing the contract I was told that the most I would have to pay would be $1,500.00 should it fail. After 8 months my garage door broke a spring and wouldn't open/close. I called and paid the $100.00 for the service call.
After 1 week of not being able to get my vehicles out a service tech came out. He told me it would be $150.00. I didn't think I should have to pay since I paid the deductible from AHS. After getting o customer service rep on the phone they said that the spring wasn't covered... So I looked closer at my contract and it said (Section A 2.) "Coverage includes normal wear and tear" so yes this got me to review the remainder of the contract more closely and I found (in Section E. SYSTEMS PLAN that the max payout by AHS for A/C or Heating equipment failures is ONLY $1,500.00 MAX... Long and short my experience has shown that they are untruthful and really don't pay out what they say they will. DO NOT USE THEM!!! TELL YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY!!! BEWARE!!!

The contractor I had for my first claim was Home Service Contractors and they seemed to have charged too much money for what they did. They also broke some things while they were working and charged me to repair them. I was a little disgruntled with them. I ended up buying three air conditioning units from them. Several years later, I was having a problem so I pulled out the warranty. I told the contractor that the air conditioning units had a 10-year warranty. They said that wasn't any good as I should have gone online to register it. I asked why they didn't tell me that. They said they did. But I am certain that if somebody had told me that I needed to register, I would have done so.
I said, “Look, if you can show me the document that I signed where you told me that I had to go online and register for the warranty, then I'll believe you.” In my world, if you have something important like that, you get a document signed that you told them. My dad had the same experience with them. He said Home Service Contractors installed his air conditioner and they didn't tell him he had to go online to get it under warranty. I'm hoping I never have to work with them again.
That aside, my service with American Home Shield has been really good so far. I like the fact that I can go online when I want to and put my problem in. I don't have to try to find a provider of service. That's a huge bonus. I put a claim and Anderson was the contractor. They were good. They called us right away and they came out very quickly. They ordered a part and got it in as soon as they could. I was pleased with that. I put another claim in on Saturday but nobody from the HVAC place has called me yet. I need to call them.

We asked South Valley to come out and take a look at our washing machine and dryer because the knobs that manage what cycles you're in were a little bit off. They turned but they didn't always advance to the next cycle when you're trying to change it. The first time that the man that came out, he took a look at the appliances and told me and my husband that there were parts needed, and they would need to be ordered. Then he said he would be in touch with us after the parts came in. After the parts came in, he called my husband back. Overall, we've never had any issues filing claims with American Home Shield. Anything that we've ever needed is taken care of by the company that they sent out.

The water pressure wasn't working and wasn't pumping up enough pressure to come out of the faucets. I called the 1-800 number and I liked the service that American Home Shield provided. I. J. Larsen Pumps came out and ended up replacing the well pump that was bad.

When you call American Home Shield, maybe the prompts could be a little better but they do answer. Sometimes it’s someone who doesn’t speak English very well, but they’re usually very polite and helpful. They try to help. So, getting the appointment has been easy. You get emails saying, “Your service person is on the way,” and all that is good. It's fine to submit a claim to American Home Shield. Sometimes I find the companies that come out are not up to par. The last plumbing company we had was good, but the one before that did the job and left a drip, and it caused damage to a ceiling we had just repaired. I had just paid someone to cover a popcorn ceiling and put drywall up. That was outside of Home Shield. The last company I had for plumbing finally sent someone out to clean things up, but then the ceiling fell out of the insurance. They said it was not part of the claim.
Someone was at the house once, and it happened to be at the house that was being worked on. They said, “You need to get a plumbing company. This doesn’t happen.” But also my husband had to go back recently. There was still a drip from something that had been fixed and he had to tighten something. Sometimes maybe they're limited in what they can do.
My concern about staying with American Home Shield is that an appliance will get so old, and it's almost not worth the repair. They did repair a refrigerator some years back, but that refrigerator is so old. The shelves are falling out of the door, and it's really something that should be replaced. But they seem to find a way to patch it together.
They have improved in the wait time in getting the appointment and setting it up and communicating with your email about your appointment. In the past, when I first was with Home Shield, you would have to hang on the phone forever to even set up the appointment. The biggest to work on is the companies that are hired. I don't know if they can do better on that but I'm sure they have their cost to consider.

We submitted the claim to American Home Shield online and then Patriot Plumbing reached out to us that following day and asked when would be a good time to come out, and they set it up. They typically take anywhere from 4 to 24 hours to respond, and then I set something up that following day. Patriot was great. They have come out twice. Once for a water heater, and then this last one was for sinks and dishwasher that were not draining. The tech came out and did our water heater too. He is personable, knowledgeable, quick and efficient.

I have a built-in microwave and everything was working but it wasn't heating. I went online and booked an appointment with AHS. My mother-in-law recommended we get their service when we came to Virginia and submitting a claim with them was easy. Then, the tech called me and scheduled a date. When the tech came out, my experience with him was excellent. He did a thorough job and afterwards, he showed me what the issue was. He had to change something in the microwave and now, it's working fine.

The line that comes out of the wall to the refrigerator was leaking. The guy that came out was phenomenal and knew what he was doing. He didn’t have the part with him so he came back the next day, which was no problem. It was just that trying to call when submitting a claim was challenging. When I finally got through, I couldn't understand the agent on the other line. Their accents were so thick. It's hard to commit to anything over the phone when it's like that. The automated process to get through is very challenging too. Then personally, I don't like the idea of them putting the $75 on the card before the people even come out. I don’t think that’s right. That almost made me decide to go to somebody else. I'm a loyal customer and there's gotta be some loyalty on their part too.

I had a previous home warranty company, and they kept trying to repair various different things. I've been fighting with this for almost two years. This is the second call we've had to make out with American Home Shield, and they paid to replace the big part, and so now it's working fine. I do my claims to them online. It's easy. The people who comes to my home are professional, clean, timely and communicates well. American Home Shield did better than the last company I had.

I had a third party company come out and do a furnace tune-up. When he checked the furnace, he said that my unit, the motor was making a noise that it shouldn't be making. That meant that there was some component that was rubbing. He couldn't really get into it without taking the whole unit apart. He said that it could last a day or it could last 12 years. That was what I called them for. But they said because it's not broken, they're not gonna fix it. If you purchase a home that's not brand new, things are gonna have to be addressed. Something as vital as an HVAC unit and a furnace shouldn't have to break before it gets fixed if we know there's something that's wrong. But overall, the people that I dealt with at AHS were very friendly and helpful.

Our water heater was at its maximum warranty and it gave out on us. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. I pay monthly and they charged me $100 for someone to come out. They got back to me pretty quickly about replacing the water heater. But I had an additional $600 something I would have to pay. I was told to replace this and that. And none of it was covered under my insurance. Only the water heater was covered. The tech took some time to do the work today. I'm paying probably the same thing out-of-pocket so I don't know what the point of having the insurance is. I've never had an experience like that with them before so I was a little frazzled with that.

Our toilet was flushing by itself and the repair guy did good. So far, everything is good too. However, if for example I schedule plumbing and the kitchen the same day, I don't get why I have to pay $100 each for a service fee. If you schedule something and it's under two different things, something could be done about it. American Home Shield could at least do something like a half price for both of them.

I have recommended American Home Shield and a couple of people have signed up. Doing a claim online is a good process. As soon as you put your information in, you get an email back. Within minutes, you get assigned to a vendor. The only thing is, like anything, weekends can be a problem. It depends on how the person is working on bad weather. But other than that, my experience has been great. American Home Shield responded promptly and got someone out. The tech has been here before and I was pleased with everything. He went in the unit because he cleaned up some stuff. But I'm kind of having the same problem that's why I called back. American Home Shield responded to my callback and reassigned them to come back out. The unit is working but not like it should be working to me.

The igniter in the heater went out. It wouldn't turn on. It’s a big furnace and the tech had to come over to replace a part. He was very professional. He was able to get out to us within 48 hours of my call. It was finished in 15 minutes or less. The heater is working, so we're doing good. Also, we had a dishwasher fixed last year. They were both good experiences. American Home Shield is a good program and I feel more secure in an older home, knowing that I have the coverage on all those major appliances.

I've submitted claims with AHS both ways, online and thru call. Either way, it goes quite well. Our recent claim experience with AHS went well too. Sunbelt Electric determined what the problem was quickly and resolved it. Then we agreed they're gonna come out and put up some new electrical fans for me. That'll happen in a couple of days.

I was running the dishwasher one night then there was a loud noise and sparks were coming out of it. I had to go call it in to AHS and do the $75 service request. I waited on the phone for an hour 'cause I called late. When they opened it up, they did notice that part of the panel was burned inside. The guy had said that there were several things he needed to order but he was also gonna put down if I needed a replacement. He came in when the parts all came in and replaced them all. It was a long time to get everything in but I am satisfied. Once they were here, it went by fast. The techs were very nice and professional and the dishwasher works good as new now.

I filed the claim over the phone and once I got through to the right person, the process ran smoothly. We had two separate people trying to fix the problem. The first people were not good. The second people were very good. They were the last ones that came to the house. They ad to come back for the heating two or three times. The final time was last week and it seemed like for the moment, the problem was cured. Home Shield contacted the contractors, and they contacted me within the specific time, so that was good.

My pool pump was not circulating and the contractor fixed the problem in a timely manner. They were polite and everything was good. Some companies are better than others but the majority of the contractors from American Home Shield have been good. I had an air conditioning company when we first called out that was not professionals and I did not trust their opinion, which was why I got a second opinion from AHS. But otherwise, everybody else has been fine.

My claim on heating went very well. The contractor had to get a part. It took about a week to get it and they came back. They were in and out of the house in 15 minutes and everything was fixed. But we had a nightmare the time before that because it was a twofold thing that needed to be done with the air conditioning unit downstairs. They kept saying that I had to pay $750 and that was because a section was not covered. They were going to cover the repair of the inside of the unit but not the external pipes. They never told me what the $750 was and I made ten different contacts between the company here and American Home Shield. I was emailing them, texting them and trying to find out what the $750 was for. Nobody would tell me. Finally, I found out and it cost my husband and my son $50 to replace those pieces. Then, the contractor came out and put the other part in. I was irritated badly but we resolved the situation.
I've had good experiences with American Home Shield other than that one. I used them a couple of times on the AC unit because the house is getting older as well as for my oven. It got fixed and there was no problem. People should contact AHS if they're going to look for that kind of service but also compare it to other services.

We had a claim with AHS for the cooktop that went horribly wrong and it still has not been resolved to this date. We called a number to get somebody on the phone and the phone was busy for two months. Nobody ever called us back and it was ridiculous. I know it’s the middle of a pandemic, but their customer service was lackluster.
Two guys came in and one guy refused to put a mask on. I told the one who didn't have a mask on that he couldn't come into the house until he wears a mask. But he said that he didn't have to wear a mask. Then, the other guy told him to just put a mask on. So, he took the plastic bag that was the wrapping for the stovetop out of the bag and put it over his head. I told him that I didn't want him to suffocate in my property and I told him that I had a disposable mask that I could give to him. But he said that what he had was fine.
Aside from that, we have all granite countertops in the kitchen and they dropped the big cardboard box on top of the granite. I asked them to take that off the countertop and at least put it on the floor. Then this guy said that the granite was okay. But I wanted them to respect my wishes. This is my property and I didn't want the big cardboard box on top of that granite, sliding it and moving it around. The other tech told the other guy who was being erratic to wait in the vehicle and he went out and waited. So, the other guy installed the appliance then he said it was ready to go. He also asked me to sign papers for the work and after I signed it, he left. It's for a black cooktop that was installed into a black granite countertop. But when my wife and I walked over to look at it, we saw that the thing is cracked on the edge.
So, I tried to stop the techs from leaving but they drove off. I called one of them on his cell phone and he told me to take a picture and sent it to him. I asked what they were going to do about it and he told me to just send a picture because he was not responsible for it. He said that somebody else was responsible for it. So I sent the pictures and he texted that he sent it to somebody.
Then he said that I needed to call this 888 number that he gave me. We called the number for two months and to this day, nobody followed up or asked us how it went so we could have told them. And we still have cooktops here right now. But we started using what they put in because that was back in August. We called the number they gave us every day and the guy said we got to try and call it first thing in the morning. He said we got to try and start calling at 7:59 and we kept calling but that didn’t work. I would get up 2 o’ clock in the morning just to see if someone would pick up and nobody picked up.
Other than that, we had a recent claim with them for an electric repair and things went very well with that. The tech came to the door and had a mask on. Before he stepped inside my house, he put on some shoe coverings because we have wood floors. So, we appreciated that. Everything's been good and smooth with AHS. We just had something with our washing machine as well and the techs are repairing our dryer. I would still give AHS high scores despite that particular vendor with the cooktop and I recommend them to people.

My recent claim to American Home Shield was to fix the fan. The ventilator from my furnace was broken. I submitted it online, so it was really easy. Somebody came out the same day, but because I contacted the customer service via chat and I asked urgency because we're so cold that day. After three or four hours, no one called me back from the company that was assigned. So, I called again via phone. They put me together with that company that was assigned, and they could attend me at the end of the day. They fixed it the same day. I was well supported by American Home Shield. It was a good experience.

American Home Shield is doing a great job with the way they handle things. I like their plan. They come as soon as possible and they are prompt. They call and let us know they are on their way so we could be waiting for them. With my recent claim, the hot water heater had a leakage at the time. Hendricks Electric came and they told me it was the electric circuit. They fixed it and were very courteous explaining it to us. I recommended AHS to a couple of my friends.

Our sink wouldn't drain. First, it was draining slow. And then, we tried to treat it, but then the drain wouldn't drain at all. At the same time, we found that our washing machine wasn't draining either. It was leaking into the baseboards that we had just recently put, and around the thing. The plumber came out. And the same day, he went and fixed the issues. Dude was super polite and super respectful for the space. He had a mask on the entire time. My wife and I have a two-year-old, so that was considerate of him to have that on for the whole time he was there. As soon as he went in, he did whatever he needed to do and fixed the issue.
Everything that he did, he was open as far as explaining what it was that he was actually doing for us to get a visual. Nothing in the dark. The work, everything that he did was very transparent. So, it was comforting. He suggested that we continue to put some boiling water down to clear the drains. We've been doing that. Ever since we haven't found that issue rise up again. I recommend that plumber to anyone who would need it. If my parents down the road needed some repairs with their house, he would definitely come recommended.

My central heat and air unit was freezing up and it wasn't putting out warm air. Everything was pretty easy when I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. It did take a few days to get somebody out here being this time of year, everybody's busy. But I can flip the unit over to the emergency heat and still have heat, so I didn't go without it. The tech who came was a good kid. They're still trying to find a part. They had to order something and they're still waiting to get it in.

American Home Shield is convenient. We just pay our premium every year to have someone come out and everything else is taken care of. When submitting a claim, we call them up, explain the problem and then they give us a name or number or someone calls us or we call them. So far, it has been relatively painless. They have responded quickly and professionally. The people that they've sent out have been really good. The timing element went out on the dryer and it quit working. So, the technician ordered a new one on a Wednesday and it didn't come in until the following Tuesday. He came back out as soon as the part came in. He was able to squeeze me right in and between appointments that day and install it.

We had a backup between our kitchen sink and the washing machine. It was a plumbing issue because it was leaking under the kitchen sink counter and I was sure that there was pressure in one of the pipes. So, we called American Home Shield and the contractor came out. This will be the third time that they’re coming out. They came out before to run the snake line through the pipe but it’s still doing the same thing. My husband called AHS and they were trying to charge us again for the same issue. This has been less than 30 days so, he was trying to tell them that this is the same issue. He hung up with the representative that he had and called back in. He got another representative and they went ahead and put in the order with no charge.

My heat pump stopped heating. The technician came out, assessed it, and informed me that it was a smart board that needed to be replaced and everything else looked good. He came back out, repaired it, and I haven't had any issue since then. He was super friendly and professional. I loved how he explained what he was doing and why the heat pump stopped working. He also explained to me where he saw the issue. I've had issues with it in the past and I've had several people come out to take a look at it. It will work for that season, and then it wouldn't work anymore. I was glad to see that the guy from Budget came out and explained to me exactly what was going on. He also informed me that it was set up incorrectly. He fixed everything, and everything's working as it should.

There was water leaking out from between the toilet and the floor and it was clogged. I had the same issue two times last year and I had somebody come through American Home Shield. I thought the problem was fixed the last two times. This time, I requested somebody else. The service people came and they got it unclogged. They then came back and did something else. They said that they fixed the problem. They did a good job. I've used the toilet twice and it seems to be working just fine. This time, American Home Shield did wonderfully.

American Home Shield sucks. I placed my call on January 8th and the contractor, Avant, called me to tell me how busy they were and when they could come out. They came as planned and right on time. Then, they submitted their report to American Home Shield and it took a number of days before I heard anything from American Home Shield. I must've call them about four or five times and every time I'd call them, I'd get a different story.
The first time I called, they told me that Avant recommended that the washing machine be replaced, but they couldn't tell me when it would be replaced. Then, I didn't hear anything from them. I called them again to find out what the status was and they told me that it was not going to be replaced. On the third time I called, I asked to speak with a manager because I needed to know what was going on as my clothes were piling up in the house. So, they told me to hold on. But I held on for the longest time yet no manager came online. Then, on three occasions, they told me a manager would call me within the hour or no later than the next day, but up to now, I've never gotten a call from a manager. I eventually called again and they told me that the machine is going to be replaced. But it was close to three weeks later that I got the final disposition.
Since I was told that the machine was going to be replaced, dealing with the purchase department had been more pleasant because everything has worked the way they told me. The only thing is that I was supposed to call their rep today to find out exactly when the machine is going to be delivered because they told me that it would be no earlier than Friday, but I would get a call from the company that's going to come out to deliver, and I haven't heard anything yet.
All in all, if AHS is sending the technician out and the issue is something the technician can take care of, the service works fine. But if the problem gets more complex, then they lack a lot. The other thing is that I went to a local appliance store and told them about the machine that AHS told me I'm going to be getting, and they said that it's pretty good. So from that point of view, at least AHS is not giving a substandard product, which is good. But American Home Shield must do better in terms of customer service on the phone. If I call and I'm not happy with the customer service, somebody from their leadership should be able to talk to me or call me so they can explain to me, especially when I'm dealing with people who apparently are in the Philippines and they're working off a script. No judgment, but that part of the service is poor.

The claim was one of the toilets that kept running. Also, the bathtub drained really slow, like something was clogged there, and the guy fixed both of them. He replaced the stuff in the back of the toilet and then fixed the plug. All of them that we have ever had out have been good. My husband seemed to like American Home Shield a lot. It works out great.

We've used American Home Shield quite a bit, and this recent experience we had was by far the quickest, fastest, easiest transaction that we've had with them. The tech from United Home Air was great. He was on time, professional and quick. He wore his mask and he put on booties before coming into the house. He had the parts that were needed but the first part didn't work quite right. He called me and said he wasn't sure about the part but he said that if it stopped working, to let them know and I did. Then he was out the very next morning with a better part. The unit has been working fine ever since, so I'm very impressed and pleased with them. This was by far the best interaction we've had with American Home Shield and their contractor.
Our previous experiences were a little bumpy but the worst was on our furnace. It took two weeks to get anybody out here and it was constant calls with American Home Shield. The first contractor didn't show up. Then finally, the second one did show up but it was a couple of days later. So it has been a real hit-and-miss as far as service and timing. But we've been pretty pleased with the coverage.

I have American Home Shield on two properties and I pay too much for it. But they have been beneficial because we let them handle finding someone to do repairs. We like Ashman Appliance, the people that we always request. Their technician is timely and very personable.

The unit wasn't heating properly. When I filed the claim, the online system was still a little clunky. But the website feature was nice. I wish they continue to work on developing the online side, making it a little bit more user-friendly. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas got out relatively fast. Anthony was the one who diagnosed the problem and Israel was the one who fixed it. They both did a great job.

We had a funny noise coming out of our furnace. Since we heat with natural gas, I called the natural gas people. They came out and they told me those were unfamiliar sounds, so I had to call a heating and air company. So, I called Home Shield and they told me that they would have somebody, a vendor, reach out to me. That was at three o'clock in the morning and they told me that if nobody contacted me by 7:00 or 8:00 the morning, I should call them back. So I did, because the vendor that they had originally set me up with never called. Home Shield then told me that they would reach out to that vendor one more time and when they didn't get a response either, they sent out this last heating and air company. And their tech came out on the same day and the man seemed to know what he was doing.
When he arrived, the heat didn't make that sound anymore because Virginia Natural Gas told me to turn the heat off and not to turn it back on until the company came out. The tech said that the filter needed to be changed, so he changed the filter. Then, the foil wrapping around the furnace that seals the two pieces together was loose and he rewrapped that. He told me that if I heard the sound again, I should record then I should call him and he would come back to see. But he looked inside the furnace and said it was running smoothly as far as he could see.
Other than that, I'm still having one issue with my refrigerator. I called in a ticket before Thanksgiving since my refrigerator was not cooling and the icemaker was not making ice. The techs came out they fixed the icemaker, but the refrigerator was still not cooling. So, I called back the company who came out to fix the icemaker and they came back out. They ordered a part and they put the part on the refrigerator. They said to give it a day or two to see if the refrigerator starts to cool with the new part.
When it didn't cool down like it should, I call them back and this was on December the 8th. They came back out and said they had to order another part as the other one was defective. We've been going on since then about this with the refrigerator and it's still not cooling properly. I've called the contractor that came out and they said that they're going to look in to see if the part that came a particular day was our part, but I haven't gotten any feedback from the company.
I've called Home Shield back and told them that my refrigerator is still not cooling. The company was going to order parts. And Home Shield, the last time I talked with them, they told me that the parts had been delivered and they reached out to the contractor and they didn't get an answer so they sent, I guess, a text or email and I hadn't heard anything from them yet. So I don't know what's going on with the contractor. But the refrigerator still is not fixed.
Nocona: Is there anything that you think American Home Shield could do to improve the process overall? What would you like to see them do differently to make it an easier process?
MONICA: Really, I guess it just depends on the contractor. Home Shield, they take the complaints. They get you paired up with a contractor and they text you the information who's coming out or who's supposed to be coming out and all. And now, let me tell you this. I had my washing machine to go out on me and they could not replace it because they didn't have one in stock equivalent to the one that I had. So then they sent me the check to purchase one on my own. I had to go out and purchase one on my own.
That process was fine. I would say it just depends on the vendors that they use, the contractors that they use. Like I said, for the most part, I've had a smooth, I guess, fix to my appliances, but this particular one for the my refrigerator, and this company had come out to do my washing machine too. They fixed my washing machine too. And the freezer, like I said, the icemaker’s making ice but I don't know what broke down in the refrigerator process. I don't know why they have been responding back to me. And Home Shield, they're very nice when you call them. I can't see what else they could do to make the process any easier because it’s fairly all cut and dry. [Laughs]
You call them. They take the complaint and then they set you up with contractors, whoever’s gonna come out to fix the problem. Right now, I can't say. I can't think of anything.
Nocona: If you were going to rate your overall experience with American Home Shield from one to five, a five means you'd still recommend the program for other people and a one means you're very dissatisfied with how they've handled your claims, where do you think you’d put them?
MONICA: I would give them a 5 because it's very convenient to me when something breaks down and you don't have to worry about well, who am I gonna call, looking in the phonebook or online as to who you can call to come out to fix the problem. The only thing is this particular problem with my refrigerator, the last time I call Home Shield, they said that if I didn't hear anything, to call them back, and they would move my request up the ladder, I guess, to the next level of service in the company, I guess. And I don't know if they will send somebody else out to fix the problem. I just hadn't had a chance to call them back myself because I've got other things going on [Laughs] and I'm trying to get things -- one fire put out before the other. But I would rate them as a 5 because it takes the worry out of trying to find somebody to come to fix your problem.
Nocona: Is it okay if we do share your comments as a review for American Home Shield to help people that are considering getting coverage?
MONICA: Sure. Sure. Yeah. Like I say, it takes the worry out of trying to find somebody to come to fix the problem. And you can dial a number and they can find somebody for you and send them out.
Nocona: Right. It takes out some of the legwork.
MONICA: Yes, yes. But since I'm talking to you -- I don't know if you know or not -- but if I can't get in touch with the people that are coming out now or did come out, will they send my request to another company to have them to come out? I don't know what the problem is. I don't know if the person is sick.
Nocona: I think there is a time limit on it. But I think you should definitely call customer service back at American Home Shield and let them know that you haven't heard or been responded to, and that you're kind of concerned that maybe they've dropped the ball and you might need somebody else to come take care of the problem.
MONICA: Yeah. Because with the pandemic going on, you don't know whether people are sick and can’t do what they promise to do. And then too,, if they're sick, you don't really want them coming in your house. [Laughs] You don't know. But yeah, but I would give them a 5 because it takes the worry out of finding somebody for your troubles.

We had four different companies come out. It was two HVAC companies and then two electrical companies. Back in September, Interior Air came out because we didn't have AC. They had to order a part and it took forever. Then they changed the part and ever since they did that, our breaker would trip every so often. But we didn't really pay too much attention to what was going on.
On December 15, we finally turned the heater on but we couldn’t put it above 70 degrees because the breaker would trip. It was every single time that we put it above the 70 degrees. So I had to file another claim and then Interior Air came out. They said that it was not an issue with the HVAC system or the furnace system. They said that it was an electrical issue. So an electrician company came out. They said it wasn't their issue, and that it was an HVAC issue. I was on the phone with American Home Shield for a very, very, very long time and they scheduled an appointment with them again. Both companies called me and said that they were going to be going out here for no reason.
At that point, I called American Home Shield again, canceled those appointments, and said, “Please send me a second opinion because this is what both companies have said. They have both said, it's each other's fault.” So they assigned West End Mechanical and the gentleman that came out was amazing. He told us that there was electrical stuff where the wire was loose. But he said that the part that had been changed by the previous HVAC company was installed incorrectly. He mentioned that it was wired incorrectly. So he rewired that. But he thought that there was still some electrical stuff going on. So Seven Hills Electric came out, which was also amazing. Both West End Mechanical and Seven Hills Electric explained everything. They didn't point fingers at anybody else.

It’s super easy submitting a claim with AHS because I just do it all online. Recently, Discount Contractors came out for my claim. The tech checked everything out and said that there wasn't a leak in the pipe. But some tile was loose in the shower and the caulking around the handles was missing. He said that’s not anything that they did. Then, we called a local contractor who said there was a leak coming out of the main drain at the bottom of the tub and it had been damaged before, so we're going to pay them to repair the work. But there was snow on the ground when the tech came in and he had booties. He put them on his shoes before he came to the house. So, that was very nice. He was also professional and explained everything that was and wasn't covered with the warranty.

My dryer was burning some of our clothes. There were little burn marks or what appeared to be burn marks. The claim was submitted on a weekend and by Tuesday, they had assigned a contractor and informed me that they'd be contacting me within two days. Baldwin’s Appliance Repair was great. They were very communicative. We called a couple of times to line up a good time for us and they were very accommodating to our schedule. Everything worked out fine. They ended up having to come out twice - one to review the issue and another one to order the parts to install them. Now, we can use our dryer again. I've done multiple claims with American Home Shield and they're very easy to submit. It's very clearly communicated when to expect the service guy out. I've referred American Home Shield to numerous friends.

It's nice that you can call one number and American Home Shield takes care of it. It's easy to use and they come right out and provide professional service. The first time I used them, I got my house rekeyed right when I moved in. Then my recent claim was terrific. I called American Home Shield and they answered right away. F. Ritter Plumbing came out the next day and took care of everything. They were very professional and got it done nice and fast. I would call them again in a minute.

They were coming out for a gas leak and a second opinion on if our furnace needs to be replaced, and if AHS would pay for it. It was all resolved. AHS will pay for it. But we haven't heard back yet from the people that are gonna install it. I just talked to AHS yesterday. They said they're waiting for the person who was going to do the installation to get back to them and then they're going to send me an email. AHS is slow in responding. They should get back a little faster.

The dishwasher wasn't draining properly. I gave American Home Shield a call and within two days, they sent somebody to fix it. The contractor provided a great service. They were fast and they fixed the issue. I have not heard any issues from my tenant, so everything should be okay.

As soon as I submitted my claim with AHS, someone called me right away from the contractor and they set up several options on when the techs could come out. When their schedule cleared up, they even called me to say if I wanted them to come early, so that was great. When the techs came, they explained everything to us and what was needed and kept me informed on how far they were at. The switch to the ceiling fan in my bedroom would spark anytime we turn it on. So, my husband removed the fan and I had to buy a new one. I was told that I have to pay 65 to install so the tech could diagnose. Without the fan, they would not know what the problem is. The tech was good and professional. As soon as the new fan was installed and the switch was turned on and off, it was not sparking. AHS is a very good warranty.

When I submitted a claim with AHS online, it was easy. I got a swift response and then in 24 hours, I had this great company come and taking care of the problem. They were very hospitable, professional, courteous and then also let me know when they were on the way and their scheduling, and then they took care of business in a very proficient way. They resolved it in 15 minutes. There was a pump that had stopped working and they shifted it out and explained what they were doing. I felt confident in the whole process, before and after. AHS should use that company again because they had communication skills and customer focus.

My wife complained the water was cold in the house. H & K Plumbing was sent out. There were two thermostats. One thermostat was set at 110, and one was set about 125. Both needed to be 125 degrees and they adjusted those and that cost me $125. That's something I could have done myself. The only thing was that American Home Shield said they would respond within 48 hours. They talked about they could respond between 7:00 am and midnight. I didn’t want anybody coming over to my house at midnight. I wanted to get the best sleep so I did not make myself available. Then they said they’ll be in the house from 8:00 am to midnight. I told them to come during regular working hours as we got things to do. I didn’t like that, that was why it took them four or five days to get there from the initial call to the day they fixed it. But other than that, they did fine. They did not try to sell me a new hot water heater.

We asked DT Electric for a couple of things and a gentleman came out pretty quickly. He tested some outlets that we had in the kitchen because our home inspector had previously mentioned that they were not the GFCI outlets. The gentleman mentioned that switching those out would not be covered by the warranty so he didn't do that work. But he did switch a non-functioning switch for us on the stairway. He was great and very friendly. He walked me through what was going on and he let me know what was and wasn't going to be covered. Luckily, the issue didn't turn out to be something with the breakers, just with the switch itself. He explained to me what I could do to get a couple of lights fixed up in the house too since we had a very high ceiling. So it was a good experience.
I've had two good experiences and two not so great ones with American Home Shield. DT Electric was a phenomenal one. Then the garage company that came out to do the garage was pretty good. Even with that, we had to pay some out of pocket returns for it and it was not really explained why it wasn't covered. But my biggest issue that I had was we had a pipe that burst. It was on a weekend and I called the number to ask if we could get someone to come out. I had to go out and shut off my water main. But the representative didn't seem too knowledgeable. I tried explaining to him what the situation was. But he just kept trying to lead me down different questions instead of listening to what the issue was.
Finally, the representative said that he'd call someone and that they would reach out to me to schedule a time. I waited about an hour or two. I called the company and the company had a pre-recorded message saying that the home warranty representative should have called to schedule via an emergency line that they had. I had to call back again and explain the situation and I was put on hold and they tried to figure out what happened. All of this was wasted time. I mentioned before that it was a pipe on the exterior wall for my faucet for where the water hose was connected out front. But when the plumber came out after waiting all this time, he just looked at it and he said that it was not under warranty. He said that it was going to be $700 and he couldn't do it now. So that was really not a great experience.

We had a toilet issue recently and J&C Plumbing did fine when they came. Submitting a claim with AHS has been very simple. it's hard to figure out what they are covering and what they're not until we're in it, but that's fine.

I had trouble with the icemaker on my refrigerator and another appliance. I did a claim on the webpage of AHS and it was easy. Then, two different technicians from AT Appliances, Inc. came out and they did the repair on the two items. They were both done this week. All in all, my experience with AHS seemed seamless.

Our dishwasher was not coming on and when we figured out how to turn it on, the lock button and cancel would not go off. I hate hand washing dishes, and we couldn't turn it on to start. We did a claim through American Home Shield and I liked the website. It was very easy to navigate, but I had to call to get an update on when someone would be out. Mr. Appliance then came out and the repair person was very professional. He was very explanatory, telling us what was going on and what would have to be done. He was a very nice man and knowledgeable of what was going on. My experience was exceptional. Definitely use American Home Shield.

The tech for my request on my lock was very thorough and he took his time. He's the best. But, I was very disappointed with the tech for my electric stove and washer. Normally, what I do before calling to submit the claim is that I look at the catalog and see how to use the warranty. But, there wasn't one so I called to have it. I wanted that the electric stove tech to fix the light on the vent. He said that it would be too expensive for him to fix it and that he suggested for me to go to Home Depot, get the vent and have them service.
So I went to Home Depot and the salesperson suggested that I talk to American Home Shield and see if that's what they want me to do. I told the salesperson that I came to check how much the replacement vent would cost. Home Depot's salespersons said that I would have to go online to get the brand that I wanted. All I wanted was for the tech to fix the light that wasn't going on. I don't know if AHS wants to replace the vent because the tech didn't want to do the job.
Soap wasn't draining into my washer that has a little gadget on one side where I put Clorox on one side and the other side would have soap. Apparently, I was doing it wrong. So, I used one of those pods and threw it inside. The same tech pulled the pod out and said "Eek! It's so dirty.". I said "My god, what's wrong with him?", washed the pod, put it together, and put it back. I don't know what that technician put in his report. I've never had a technician tell me to get a replacement at Home Depot and have Home Depot put it in. I've always had technicians saying that they can get the replacement or that they will be back. Other than this experience, I'm very pleased with AHS. They took care of everything and responded quickly. When I call, their contractors make the appointment the next day or the day following. Everybody should have American Home Shield's warranty.

We asked the contractor to come because our registers were not registering. They were not heating properly so we needed to have the heat pump checked. The technician was terrific. However, I wanted him to check another heat pump and he said he couldn't because there would have to be a separate order. We've been part of HSA for many years and apparently things have changed. He was only allowed to look at one. The other two heat pumps should have been checked at the same time as they had been before previously if we had a problem. AHS should send out information to policyholders to what their rules are and if they've changed from what they were that I had before. I also didn't know that HSA was brought out by them.

I called Specialty Services and would leave messages and give them my phone number. But then nobody called me back so I assumed that they had the wrong number for me. I called American Home Shield and they got ahold of that guy then he called me right away. When he came, he was a really nice man and got the light working for me. But he said he had to replace the fan and the light because there was a part that the don't make anymore. He brought me a new fan with the light attachment. I tell everybody that they need to get American Home Shield.

My hot water heater was leaking. I went online and I filed a claim. I'm not real technical so it took me a bit to figure it out, but I was able to. The contractor sent me an email the next day and said that somebody would be there that day, and what time and hour they would be there. It was handled quickly. The tech was extremely nice. The heater has been going and doing great since. I'm very pleased with how the claim was handled. I have recommended American Home Shield to several people.
