Whenever I called American Home Shield, we had to wait a couple of times but they came out and did proper work for me. A repairman recently came out and did the necessary repair.

I’ve been with American Home Shield back and forth since ’08 and my experience with them has been good. I called when I had issues with my microwave and my dishwasher. It always takes 15 to 30 minutes to get through to American Home Shield but it was good once I got through. The contracting company I was given was great. Technicians came out and they repaired the dishwasher and replaced the microwave. I was told that the door was not latching. Everything has been great since then.

Sears came out because we had an issue with our dishwasher. To actually submit the claim to American Home Shield, it was pretty straightforward. The problem was getting someone to come out and ordering the parts. Because of COVID, that was the biggest challenge. When they ordered the parts, it was going to take the parts two to three weeks. By the time that the parts were going to come in, we were traveling out of town. We had to schedule the visit for the first week of January. So, it got pushed out from December into January, because we weren't going to be in when the parts came in. But when they put in the new parts, everything is perfectly okay. We had two different technicians. The first technician was fine. He indicated what kind of parts we needed. The second technician was very nice and was very informative of what had to be changed and why they ordered what they did.
I've had a previous experience with American Home Shield that wasn't pleasurable, and that was one of the things that had me considering changing them for a different service. The water heater that came with the house blew up after five years. It was a particular size water heater that, for whatever reason, American Home Shield did not want to support. I wound up having to pay that out of pocket. That to me was unacceptable. What they wanted to do is replace it with a smaller water heater. I have a fairly large home. It's almost 5,000 square feet and they wanted to replace the water heater with something that was almost 30% smaller. In general, with the dishwasher, everything worked out great. But with the water heater, it was a horrible experience.

The heat pump of the air conditioner was tripping the circuit breaker in the house on a regular basis when it was cold outside. A technician came and measured everything. He said that the measurements electrically were good. We then got a referral for an electrician to follow-up on replacing the circuit breaker. He did a really good job of troubleshooting.
Both the companies that came did a good job. They checked everything outside. They came in and when they got to the circuit breaker, they pulled it down and the wires came loose. There was an arcing of a wire in the circuit breaker. Those probably were some of the problems we've had in the past few years and we didn't even know about it.

The igniter in my furnace went bad and Airforce Heating & Cooling came out and replaced it. They fixed the problem, they had the part. They also came before they were expected. It was good.

The plumber was friendly and professional. He did the work for the shower and sinks but my front sink still has a slow drainage. Everything else is good. I did call AHS and they are sending somebody out tomorrow to try to correct whatever needs to be done. Hopefully, whatever is happening with the sink, they can get it cleared up. Most of the time, I would just let it go but I thought about it and decided this needs to be done. If I’ll wait too long, AHS will be charging again saying that it was another call. Sometimes, I have problems of getting things done with AHS. They send out people and whoever company they send out won’t get my problem done. Then, I have to call somebody else to get it done.

If I'm happy with something, I would stay forever. But if I'm not happy, I will quit it. For a claim I had, the first people that were supposed to come didn't even bother to call me and I waited all day. People have got things to do like work or whatever their ongoings are that day. If someone says they're gonna come, they'd better come especially a business like Sears. You would think they would be more professional. Instead, they canceled their appointment with me.
The second person that came was very good. He called me and told me that he had been assigned to come to my home. I told him that I desperately needed for him to come as soon as possible. He looked at his schedule and said he was pretty booked. He asked if I would mind him coming after 5:00 to look to see how he could help me. He said he would be here between 5:00 and 7:00 or earlier depending on how long it would take him to do his other commitments. That was the same day. That was actually a better time as I had to work. Sure enough, he was here after 5:00.
Having service with American Home Shield is like savings. If something breaks down, they can either fix it or replace it. In the long run, I’m not really getting anything out of it except the service. I have one property where I've had American Home Shield for 17 years and it has paid for itself. That's okay because of the given time right now where things are so hard. The only drawback that I have about the home warranty is trying to place an order. It takes a while to get on the line to talk to someone or to even place an order. That's the only thing I don't like about it. But eventually, I do get through because I'm pretty persistent.

Our heater in our house wasn't working correctly It would heat, and then quit, and then heat. I did a claim to American Home Shield and a tech came out quickly and got it fixed right away. He was awesome.

Right now my experience with AHS has been okay. Sometimes it's a hassle trying to get information done or it takes them to call or have somebody come by the house to fix the items. But the people who came here had been very supportive. My other washing machine broke. He had enough to run. But the tech said there was no way it could be repaired because its parts are no longer good. I'm satisfied with AHS. That's why I keep using their services.

I had problems with Plumb Genius previously, and I would like to have a different option if someone has had a complaint about a company. But American Home Shield told me there was no other option. So it's uncomfortable to have someone come back that you had a bad experience with before. But thankfully a different Plumb Genius technician came out when I had a claim for the garbage disposal.

The contractor came out as scheduled, got my rollers back on track and changed out the spring. They did a good job. This was the first time I've had to file a claim with American Home Shield and I did it online. It went well. The problem wasn’t covered but they explained that so I didn’t have any surprises. I would recommend AHS if someone is gonna purchase that service.

I like the guy who came. The ice machine on our Whirlpool refrigerator was bad and he replaced it. He did a good job. I'm satisfied with the timeframe too.

The garage door wouldn't open. All of a sudden, the switch was flipped. I had a little bit hard time coordinating a date. But when Basel came out, he was super professional and he did a great job. He was a very down to earth guy. He used all the COVID precautions, which I appreciated. We're going to continue to do a little bit more work with replacing the door with Basel going forward.
I've had another claim to American Home Shield, which didn't go well. There was a power outage at my house. The master bathroom floor is heated. I put in a claim request for electrician and paid my $100. The electrician came out and said, “We don't know what to do.” We called American Home Shield, determined it was not covered and now I’m just out 100 bucks. So, that was not a good experience. They should have called me and I should be able to get a refund. I tried to read through the fine print and there's nothing on there in regards to a heated bathroom floor not being covered.
Other than that, I used them in the beginning of the summer, and it was a good experience. There was something wrong with the air conditioner and someone came out right away and had to replace a part. He gave me better instructions on that I have to limit the thermometer on it. I can't put it below 72, because it's just not a strong enough unit.

AHS has always been able to have someone out here pretty quickly whenever I've had any issues. I had two recent claims with them - one was for an icemaker and another was for a furnace. It was a very easy process. For the furnace, I called in on a Saturday and it was Monday before somebody came out. For the icemaker, AHS contacted someone that same day but somehow, the person lost it in their email. He contacted me the next day and came out within a couple of days. Both of them needed a part. One came back and fixed it the same day. The other one came back the next day. They were nice and very professional.

The starter was corroded and it wouldn't automatically click on because of all of the corrosion. Higginbottom’s Heat & A/C went in and checked the whole unit. They didn't see anything else wrong so the tech knew that that probably was the problem. He cleaned the corrosion off then it automatically clicked on. Then he would put it off and it would click on. He started it about six times and had no problem. It came on right away and I've not had any problem with it since then. He was great.
I had another company and I was not happy with them with my last claim. They didn't have service people to accommodate my needs. My sister had American Home Shield and she said that she had never had any problems with it. One of the service people that she said that she hoped that they would connect me with was Higginbottom's. They were very professional. They came in with their masks on and did everything with their masks on. I appreciated that. They were here promptly too. All the good things that you could say about a service company, they probably are.

Home Shield was very professional. They were quick in assigning a plumbing agency that's familiar with the North County of St. Louis within eight hours. I expected delay because the person was on a job working, but Budget Plumbing contacted us and asked us what were the issues. When they came here, they troubleshot the leakage and where it was coming from. They added replacement plugs to the assembly there and then they replaced it. There hasn't been a leak whatsoever. Budget did very, very good. They were equitable and professional. They also had an apprentice that just graduated from trade school with them. The veteran person that was there did a wonderful job of instructing that young guy into what should be done.
We also used Home Shield to troubleshoot a starting cycle on our furnace many years ago. They sent a female electrician that was very qualified in what she was doing. She found the problem was faulty contacts within the thermostat in the hallway. She replaced it with a compatible unit that worked. We've also used Home Shield for a dishwasher repair, and once for a dryer repair. They always have excellent people.

I had something going on my pipes. It was screeching. I thought it was a leak. The contractor came in, found the problem, and took care of it for me. They were real professional, quick and efficient. Everything's been fine ever since. So far, I've been pleased with how quick I'm able to get somebody out here. The amount that I've noticed that AHS has covered for me has been pretty good.

I like American Home Shield. The have very fast response. When I sent in a claim for my furnace, I got a notice the next day that the engineer will be at my house. He came in and solved the problem. It was perfect.

Our biggest issue with American Home Shield is their on-call customer service. That is pretty much useless and you can't really do anything. We had terrible experiences with calling in. We spent as much as 12 plus hours on trivial issues. When I asked what was happening or where we were in the timeline, it didn't seem like anyone ever knew anything.
The workers, however, were excellent whenever they came by to fix stuff in the past like the AC, heating, or garage door. They were clean and they took off their shoes if they needed to. They were professionals and they were just doing the job. There was one claim, however, that was never fixed. It was the garage door and I stopped caring about it. I can just lift it open if I need to. The level of effort I needed to put in to get it fixed wasn't worth it. I might as well just do it myself.

American Home Shield has been very responsive. Both initial contacts for the call-outs for the refrigerator and the furnace were great, although somewhat brief. We sent information such as the serial number, the model number, and a couple photos of the damage to the refrigerator. The guy that came out did the same thing. He looked at the model number, the serial number and the damage then he said had to order parts and left. Sometimes it's taking a while for parts to arrive but stuff happens and I think it's because of the pandemic.

The electricity went out on one side of the kitchen plus half of another side. Something happened with the breaker box. The sockets and everything else went dead, so the fridge and the freezer were out. I called it in and then my dad was the one that talked to the electrician. My dad said the electrician was good and knew what he was doing. Any questions my dad asked, the electrician answered. The electrician checked it and did what he was supposed to do. He was a nice guy who was very knowledgeable. I would use him again if I could.

My refrigerator went out. Because of COVID, the claim process with American Home Shield took a little longer than I anticipated it would. Also, the process needs to be more informative. When they told me that my refrigerator parts were no longer available, they did it by Gmail. I'm not that savvy with internet programs and services. So, it took me almost 30 days to find out that my fridge wasn't going to be repaired. I should have been informed with a phone call. When the claim was approved, I went to Home Depot and bought the replacement refrigerator. AHS gave me almost all of the cost. But, they were very unclear with my warranty. They told me that I was going to have to obtain a warranty contract. Then, after I did all of that, they told me that the manufacturer's warranty would have been enough. So, I was out almost 300 bucks.
Recently, I submitted a claim about my furnace and that went great. The tech came at 4 o'clock and I had heat by 6:00. He had to clean part of an electrode that was a sensor for the air combustion chamber and I was back up and running. With AHS's service, I don't worry about my appliances. I know that they're going to get taken care of and usually within 24 hours.

It was reading 80 in our house this weekend and so Florida Construction Authority came out. They turned it off and turned it on again, and it worked. But then, a week later, it would just shut off by itself. I looked at the thermostat and it was 82 in the house. They've been out several times and they've tried to fix it. They replaced the compressor. Then it was making noise and they said it's the compressor again. We had to put out $400 something just to put the Freon in. This thing's costing us a fortune.
I asked them how many times they come out before they could replace it because I don't want to go through this in the summer. They said that they'll just keep fixing and they won't replace it. The guy that came out was really nice. He said he replaced everything on this thing and it's still not working. Now, it’s working, but that’s the usual plan. It’ll work and then just stop working when it feels like it. Florida Construction also came out for the refrigerator that wasn't working and gave us a cost of how much the replacement was. We went to Lowe's and got a replacement. Overall, they've been very good so far.

The last time we called American Home Shield, we had a leak under the house. It cost me $100 for the tech to tell me it wasn't covered and it would cost over $10,000 to fix. The guy who quoted that kind of money was a little outrageous. The tech also said it was gonna take three days while my water just ran down the alley. That was not acceptable at all so we went and found somebody who did the job for $1,800 in one day. The guy who quoted that kind of money was a little outrageous.
Also, if I say one thing different about what I'm calling about, it's a whole new ticket with AHS. My issue was always the same appliance but it was always another $100 for the techs to come out and try again. I spent at least $800 on that kind of phone calls for my GE refrigerator. Also, AHS went up almost $20 from last year. In the end, the repairs were never gonna work because GE's construction of the refrigerator was incorrect. The hose goes down, then tries to come up and in the process, it would freeze.
We just had another claim our shower was losing pressure. The techs came fast and they fixed it right. They said that if the cartridge didn't work, they were gonna have to bust the wall down which I know isn't gonna be covered. Thank goodness the issue was just the cartridge inside. But, one side of me says, “I paid $100 for the guy to change a cartridge. What would have happened if I just called a regular plumber? How much would that have been? I don't know.” Other than that, putting in claims to AHS is really easy and they respond really quickly.

The switch went out on my washing machine. They had to order a part for it and it took almost a week for the part to come in. The timeframe was understandable, considering where the house is. Also, the tech was very professional and very knowledgeable.

The claims process was really easy. I went online, filled out the form, and then they sent someone the next day. The contractor called me back and everything worked out well. They answered everything professionally. American Home Shield's service looks pretty simple and straightforward. Also, they’re reasonably priced. The first time I used them, they were reliable and they got everything covered.

American Home Shield has responded quickly and they've had people come out that were knowledgeable and able to address the problems. I've had the policy for years and never used it, but then all of a sudden, I needed it a lot. It definitely is worth having. They did plumbing and then a guy came up this past week and fixed the garage opener. He did a good job replacing the unit. AHS is also in the process of finishing the refrigerator repair. They chose to try to repair it as opposed to replacing it. Something rusted the rails so the freezer is not operating, so right now, we don't have a refrigerator. It's been a bit of an inconvenience because it's taking a few weeks to get done. However, we were sent the part and the repair people are supposed to be back to fix that on the 19th.
I've done both over the phone and online claims submissions. I don't generally like a lot of phone calls because I've worked at home and get a lot of calls. I prefer to do stuff online. Recently, there were several things we found that needed to be done in the house, so I had three different claims. One of them I did online and the other two, I called. The guy came and he was able to identify the point of the leak and repair it well. He also fixed the water heater. I had been told a couple of times by the two people that looked at it previously that it needs to be replaced and it couldn't be fixed, but he came in and was able to fix it. We got hot water, so we're fine. It was a pleasant experience too. He was polite. He wore his mask. He did what he had to do and it was good.

A component in the hot water heater needed to be replaced because the wires were seared and burnt. Once I put in the service request call, within 48 hours, a guy came out and serviced it for me. It was the same one who fixed the last plumbing issue that I had. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service that I've been receiving for the last four years.

The dryer was malfunctioning. I let American Home Shield know about it through their website. It was easy using it. I was supposed to hear from the contractor within 24 hours, which I did. The tech explained everything and fixed it before he left. It was a great experience and it went exactly as the expectations were set for me.

My dryer was not drying. The tech who came out was absolutely great. He went above and beyond to make sure it was good. He also cleaned up behind himself. The repair wasn't submitted at the time. But he saw there was a issue, and he went ahead and fixed it. I'm good with AHS but they could lower their price.

We had a part go bad on the dryer so American Home Shield had to send someone out to fix it. The claims submission was good and they got back to us really fast. The technician came out, looked at the dryer, and ordered the correct part. He was great and timely. Then I got an appointment the next day to set something up. The technician came back out and he did a great job on the whole thing. We also had a claim with one of our dishwasher last year. It was the same company, so it was good. They tried something but it didn't work. They had to come back out a few times to figure out what was going on and it worked out well.

The tech found out what was going on with the heater. There were two wires that lost contact, which was why the heater wasn’t working. He was professional and the repair went well. I made another claim to American Home Shield so the contractor is coming out. But anything else is good so far and I'm satisfied.

Recently, I needed a service for the heating in my personal property and the techs they sent out were really good and very professional. They were on time and I liked the way that they sent the invoice later with a picture and what they worked on. I also have AHS on a rental property and I'm currently waiting on a part for my dishwasher there. Other than that, all my experiences with them have been really good. I've had the warranty for a few years and it's been useful. I've really liked their service and I feel like it's been worth it for me.

Contract #: **. Service Request: **. To whom it may concern, I am writing about an appeal to a recent AHS warranty service that was declined. A recent service request ‘completion’ was noted on my account. I called in 2/8 to have my spa looked at as it has a CE error code. The tech stated that a wiring harness failed and it would need to be replaced. He stated it was an older unit and that it maybe hard to find. He called me back and said he could not find one so that he would contact AHS about a unit replacement.
AHS marked the request complete and I called as it is not complete. They are stating that AHS will not cover this item due to the following in the contract: 6. AHS is not responsible or liable for repairs or replacements when the malfunction is due to: b. Accidents, fire, freezing, water damage, electrical failure or surge, or excessive or inadequate water pressure;
There has been NO electrical failure or power surge at my home. The wiring harness failed as it is a 2008 unit. The tech would have replaced it, if he could have found one. I am appealing this decision to have the unit replaced due to the wiring harness being discontinued. I have been a customer for a long time and have used AHS services numerous times. I have even posted good reviews online for AHS. I expect this company to honor the contract and not use this clause as an excuse to do the right thing. There were no other circumstances that caused this item to fail and it needs to be replaced asap. If this is the way they do business, I will have to cancel the contract as there are other appliances that are aging and I will not argue every time I want to use this home warranty.

I had to call AHS three times. One time the rep put me on terminal hold and never even came back on the line. Then when I called the third time, I was on the phone with the rep for about 40 minutes trying to get the work order straightened out. I thought everything was fine, but then when the plumber came out, there were four things and two of the things weren’t even on the work order from American Home Shield. They only came out to repair my toilet after they found the water leak and our water heater.

This review is not about the subcontractors who come to fix an appliance. This is about the company itself and how poorly it is being managed. I have a simple problem with this company and I have been calling them every week since December to resolve. I have 3 properties that I signed up with AHS. When I signed up, they twisted my arm to leave my CC number even after telling them that I will pay the whole year by check. They said it is OK, just call to remove the CC from the account. Well, I paid by check for 2 properties in Nov or 2020.
I called in early December and they told me the CC has been removed. Well, 2 weeks later, they charged my card for full year for 2 properties. I have been calling them since December to reverse these two charges without any luck. I spend hours on the phone going through 20 question background check. They recognize they have charged me twice for those two properties and all the agents promise they take care of it. They also say they are different from the previous agent. Two months later, the extra charges have not been reversed. This over $800 charge on my card for 2 months. The next step is to see a lawyer. That's probably the only way to get these guys to do their job. So, this is got nothing to do with services that they will blame subs. This is the quality of customer support by this company. When I first put in the request to American Home Shield, Climate Heating and Cooling came out right away, and they thought it was one problem, and then it turned out to be a different part that they needed. So then, they got the part ordered and came back and replaced it, but there was an issue with another part and I'm still trying to get them out here to replace this part because I keep coming home to my house being 50 degrees because my furnace won't light by itself. The spark igniter is having an issue. I can manipulate the cord and get it to ignite when I'm here. But when I'm not here, I can't do that, and then it doesn't ever ignite, so it doesn't heat.
I called American Home Shield this afternoon and they said that it won't be covered unless it completely fails, which I don't understand. If it won't ignite, how is that not failed? So, I asked them, "What's the definition of failure if this isn't it?" They're supposed to call me back in the morning because I had left a message yesterday to try to get that answer, and then I called them back today because, apparently, their office person was working remotely and didn't have the ability to check messages. So, she had never gotten my message. Since Friday, I've been trying to track them down.

American Home Shield has done an awesome job. The vendors have been very professional and respectful in their job and customer service-wise, they're excellent. We had a refrigerator that went out and all kinds of different things. So far, I haven't had any situations where I can say, "Oh, I don't want to deal with them anymore."

The tech went up the loft, checked out the cooling system and told us exactly what the problem was. I did appreciate what he did with our cooling system. He was excellent. I can't say that for the guy that did the refrigerator though. Also, American Home Shield could be a little bit better. When filing a claim, I have to make an appointment with the service person. American Home Shield should do that. It's a little bit much. I had to reach out to the service people and they weren't very prompt in getting back to me. The other thing is that American Home Shield went up on me. Everybody got to go up every time you look around but I went from 49 to 55. I'm looking for somebody else that's got a lower rate and a lower service fee when you need service.

There's no human interaction with American Home Shield. It's all computerized. You just answer the questions that are in front of you. You can't express yourself exactly what you want to say so you're limited to that aspect. Then when you file the claim, you call the people that they refer you to or they call you quickly, and they're out in a pretty good time. I got the heater serviced by someone and they noticed the plate inside, in front of where the gas flames are, had a crack in the middle of it. I called the warranty company and the guy came out and sealed the crack. He said he was here before for the air conditioning unit, so he knew what he was doing. Now, the window on the inside oven door, the thick glass, is cracked. I have to call a claim in for that. Overall, I've been satisfied.

The techs from Moonstar Appliance were very good and very professional. They repaired the refrigerator but now it's starting to malfunction again. This is the third time I've called American Home Shield for that and they've sent over two different vendors. The first time, the techs said it needed Freon. Then, the guy filled it up with gas almost a year ago. And when I called them recently, they said that it needed Freon again because it had a leak. So they put the Freon and a liquid for the leak. That should have fixed it. But now, I noticed my refrigerator is heating up again, so I'm thinking that the leak has not been fixed. Despite that, the techs cleaned up and I have no issue with them. The refrigerator is quite old and at this point, it cost about 300 bucks to get it fixed.
Other than that, American Home Shield's reps were very polite and were quick to respond. I'm about to call them again and my understanding of their policy is that they'll try to fix my refrigerator numerous times until they decide they can't fix it anymore. Then, they'll replace the appliance with something of equal value. So, I'm hoping they don't send another person to patch it up because each time they do, it costs me $100 service fee. This time, I'm expecting them to say that the appliance is beyond repair because it just keeps breaking down. I'm expecting them to do the right thing and provide me a new refrigerator. Up to now, they've been good and they explained the policy. So in my next call, I'm going to hope they honor their policy. But for now, I'm satisfied with them.

The tech from Doctor Cool was fantastic. He went the extra mile and changed all my air filters for me. The experience I've had with American Home Shield was prompt and efficient. My wife did a claim on her computer for our toilet. The process was very simple and pretty straightforward. It's idiot-proof. A guy came out and he was really good. He knew exactly what he needed to replace. There was a gasket in there that got worn out. We live in a 20-year-old condo so that kind of stuff is gonna happen. The thing, however, is our toilet is not a common one and the guy didn't have the part on his truck. He left to get the part, came back, and put it in. He was only gone an hour or so. And he wasn't here 15 minutes when he came back.
The guy was able to accomplish the mission quickly and efficiently. That's what any consumer’s looking for. I want to be told the straight facts. “This is the problem. This is how I'm going to fix it. This is what I'm going to do. This is when I'm going to do it.” Nobody wants to get some hem and haw around. We are really very happy with every facet of the service. It was a very positive outcome. We've used the home warranty service for a fairly long time. It's all about knowing the local area providers.

American Home Shield worked out really well for me. I wish I started with them sooner because with a large home like ours, something can break. We had replaced some HVAC on our own and it was quite expensive. Had I been covered, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble and money. My only complaint is that I can't transfer that policy outright. We're getting ready to move to another property and we have to completely cancel it out then start on the policy.
Sometimes the vendors vary in different areas, and sometimes they're a hit or miss. We had a plumbing issue a couple of months back and there was one company that came in and had an attitude. They were a couple of hours late then they monkeyed around for two hours and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. Clearly, they were not talented and didn't know what they were doing. They wanted to leave and said they couldn't fix it and that it was not covered. But they wrote me an estimate saying it's gonna cost me 800.
I called AHS and they said they could find somebody else that could at least come and troubleshoot it. They sent Georgia Plumber which was so much better than the other group. They were able to troubleshoot it and said that it was covered under the warranty. Then we had an interior. It was like a little drip in our utility room. They said that it might become an issue. We kept an eye on it and then eventually, it had some problems, so we put in a ticket and then called them back. They were very thorough and they observed COVID-19 protocol. The customer service was really good too. I feel safer with them coming out that's why I always like to request them. When I have a bad vendor, I feel like I've wasted my money. But had they not done sending somebody else, I would just cancel everything.

We couldn't open and close a pushbutton thing to turn the water on. We couldn't get the water without using our whole body to pull it. The rep told me the date the contractor would come and then the timeframe. Lake Plumbing came out and the tech was nice, efficient, and professional. It took him two minutes. It cost me $100 and it's worth it. The repair makes it easier to take a shower. Working with American Home Shield was professional and easy.

My furnace stopped working. The claim submission process was very simple. I called up AHS and told them that I had the issue. They immediately assigned me to a repair company. They told me the name of the company that would be in touch with me. The contractor called me and said that they were sending somebody out and they were going to come out the next day. Also, I said to them at that time that if they get a cancellation, I was available and lo and behold, they had a cancellation. The repair guy came out pretty quickly and made what he thought was the repair. He told me the problem was an air pressure switch so he replaced it.
24 hours later, I discovered my furnace shut down again. I called back the repair people and explained the repair wasn't done. The lady there said I need a work order and that I need to call the warranty company. I called AHS back and explained the situation. They said they would be in touch with the repair company. The repair company lady called me back later on and she explained that they couldn't get anybody out until Monday.
On Monday, at the appointed time, the repair guy showed up. He examined the situation and said that the main circuit board on my furnace had gone out as well. He showed me the board and he said he was going to put a replacement part in, which I assume he did because since then, it's been working perfectly. The repair guy was very nice, efficient, and polite. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions. He was very respectful of my home and of me. He wore a mask the whole time. The whole situation really worked out very well.

I filed a claim for a washing machine that would not drain. The tech was out in about three days and had ordered a part. That's typical and I expected that but I don't like it. He came back the second time and stayed about 10 minutes or so. He said he put the part in and left but it's still not fixed. The last contact was me calling him last week and him telling me that he had ordered the part. Somebody needs to keep me up to date as to what's going on. The length of time that it's taking to get something repaired could be improved. It took several weeks for the last time I had something then now it's probably about 10 days into it. I don't think that it should take that long.
I wish that the contractors that AHS uses would either drive trucks that have the name of the company they work for or wear badges or shirts. I've had it happen a couple times where they just show up in a pickup truck. Naturally, I'm a little bit hesitant in today's environment. If I was not home, I would be telling my wife to not open the door for people like that.

The tech was very nice. He needed a compressor and he had to order it. As soon as he got it, he came back and put it in. When I have a claim, I prefer to speak to somebody and call in, but it's awful. It's difficult to speak to somebody, even to get through on the phone during the regular weekday. The computer puts you through a lot of stuff. Then on weekends, you can't even get in touch with anybody. Also, they're out of the country. But overall, I've had a good experience with AHS. They've come out promptly, and they fixed my items.

AHS is easy to navigate and has great service. The contractor came and got the work done. But I can't feel some of the air coming in in one of the rooms. I didn't recognize if it was the issue before he fixed it. Maybe one day I'd call him back or American Home Shield to see if he can take a look.

The refrigerator stopped working, and nothing was staying cold. So I used Home Shield and they assigned Apex to me. They've come to my house before, so they did a really good job. After the service, the refrigerator has been working perfectly. But I had a difficult time last year when I had a claim for the washing machine. They also sent out Apex but they could not fix it. The tub was stuck. When they tried to take the tub out of the washer, it was tough. It was hard for them to take it out. They told me that they would put me in for a new washer. It was 600 and some odd dollars but Home Shield only gave me $200. Also, they kept giving me the runaround. I would speak to someone and there was a language barrier every single time. When they sent me a check and I went to cash it at my bank, my bank told me it was rejected because American Home Shield cancelled it. It was just drama. So I lost $400 if I had to pay it on my own. I got tired fighting.

My experience with American Home Shield has been positive. I submitted a claim online to have a microwave fixed and it was a smooth process. The guy came out, ordered the parts that were shipped here, came back in two weeks and put it in. We had COVID while they were waiting on the parts to come in, so we had to postpone it a couple of weeks. The microwave works fine now.

I submitted a claim with AHS. The techs came out and put in a new water heater. Unfortunately, right now, they just came back out because it's not heating the same as the old water heater was heating. It seems like I've had to increase the setting. So, they just wrote all that down and submitted it back to American Home Shield. But the techs were awesome and perfect. AHS was timely and responsive as well.

The toilet wasn't flushing. I called American Home Shield and told them. I called them on a Sunday. The girl couldn't understand me very well. She couldn't grasp the concept. I couldn't wait until Monday. I had to have toilets in my home. I had to work through that issue and get them to understand what I needed them to do and pay the additional $75. I talked to the owner of D&S, and he said, "They're good about paying that." They did. He came out on Sunday, then they came out Monday. They thought they fixed the issue. They unblocked the pipe. They were very nice. They can be a little more tidy, but it's plumbing and it's a home repair.
I've always been a pro-American Home Shield customer. But there's nowhere for an agent to pass off. If I needed someone's approval above the person I was dealing with like their supervisor, the common statement is, "I'm sorry, we don't have those direct numbers." "What do you mean you don't have your supervisor's direct number? What kind of company is that?" It is absurd that I could not go above someone else if I needed something else. I don't like that.
I spoke with the lady at American Home Shield. Ironically enough, she was the welcome center of it. I said, "Well, I wouldn't congratulate me just yet." We had a chat about the people that I had dealt with. Then there was another gentleman that had tried to double-charge me. I was like, "There should have been no charges for yesterday because it was a recall." He didn't even know how to do his job. But I discussed things with this lady on the welcome side of American Home Shield, and she assured me she would push it on the line. But you hear that a lot too. Seeing is believing.

I can schedule the request online easily. The only concern I have is when I have any questions, I call and it takes too long to get connected. Except for that, everything works good for me. One time, a technician came over to my house, examined the system, and found out that the igniter was broken. He replaced that.

It took three days for the tech to come out and then everything went well. He fixed our washing machine on the spot and he did a good job. The same company also came out for the refrigerator and they did just as well. I'm happy with the program.

The icemaker was not dispensing water properly into the icemaker itself. Therefore, it wasn't making ice. The contractor replaced the icemaker in a timely manner. I'm pretty happy with them. I've had American Home Shield for two and a half years now and putting a claim in on the line is not a problem. It's just whenever I have a question on a claim, it seems like my call is forwarded to India, and I don't understand anybody on the other side of the line. This was not a one-time incident. In the four times that I've called, I've always gotten somebody that's very hard to understand. It's not a perfect setup, but it is what it is.

I had a plumbing and an electrical claim put in the same day. It was easy to do it online. The contractors were nice. They didn't treat me like I was stupid, so that was nice. Both of them had to come back again. They had to each get parts. But I was notified immediately as soon as they received approval to come back. Everything has been working good since the repair. I've been with American Home Shield for a few years and so far, so good.

When my washing machine was on, I had water coming out under both commodes. It was backed up. Pipe Down Services came out and unclogged it. The tech was very nice. It's been doing good. I had a good experience with American Home Shield.

Someone from Yantra Air came to my house a second time. He was great both times. He was very responsive and he took care of the problems. From my experience, American Home Shield is worth it. My only complaint is the denial of a claim that I made with regard to a faucet in my house. The faucet is frozen, rusted, and doesn't work. I called and American Home Shield said that they don't cover that. Besides that, everything else has been great.

RDN responded quickly. They provided excellent service. As far as American Home Shield, there’s a lack of communication. It's like calling a third world country to speak to someone. Then it just seems a little redundant. It's like going through the channels. It's like there's some miscommunication. It has gotten better though. I've had to use this a couple of times. The first time was a complete failure. I actually thought it was a joke. My experience was better on my last attempt, which was to have my hot water heater replaced. Overall, I would tell anybody that they provide a good service.

I called AHS and told them I was having issues with my stove. The tech that came out was very good. He did the work at a good time and enough speed, and he cleaned up behind himself. Everything has been relatively smooth with American Home Shield. They were pretty good. The process of submitting claims online seems relatively easy. I just put in a request and after a day or so, someone called and tried to schedule an appointment for someone to come out. I had someone come and fix my refrigerator. The technician seemed professional the first time he came in to do some troubleshooting to figure out what the problem was. He narrowed it down to what he thought the issue was and it was a valve that needed to be ordered. That part was ordered and he came back maybe a week later, and that was actually the solution to the problem.

They come through with what you need and if something breaks, they get it replaced. If it can be fixed, it'll be fixed. They replaced my microwave and dishwasher. The techs that came out were all from Sears. They were all great.

The contractor did a great job. They were fast and efficient. They got back to me, they got things done in a timely manner, and they left the work area clean. It was just installation of a water heater, but we were really happy with them. Lately, we've had good luck with American Home Shield and we're very glad we've had it. We moved into an older home and we've needed it. It's been great for us. I would recommend it.

The technicians are professional but in terms of the overall experience, I'm on the fence about if we will continue using American Home Shield. We ended up paying more out of pocket for the Freon refill versus what was covered for the repair parts for our heat pump/AC unit repair. I'm gonna research things to see if that's standard because I know that's not covered in my contract with AHS.
This is my first time going with American Home Shield. When I was living in Las Vegas, I had a different warranty company. They were different and they cover pretty much everything. Also being able to get a hold of an AHS agent is not the easiest. I've rarely had to speak to someone who I thought was stateside. Normally, when I speak to an agent whom I'm sure is in a call center overseas, they have a hard time understanding what I'm asking or what I'm trying to explain or the questions I'm asking about the contract. So, they tell me to call another number.

The microwave door would not shut. When it would close, it wouldn't close all the way and the microwave will still run. The American Home Shield website was easy to use when filing the claim. Then we got notified that the company would contact us and let us know when they would come out and schedule us. Dealing with Gaige Appliance was cordial, convenient, professional. This repair has helped us tremendously, especially with my kids' homeschooling and they can warm up their food for lunch. I love American Home Shield. It's very convenient and very prompt service when needed. I would tell my friends and family to use them.

This was a follow-up to the same claim I had about a week and a half earlier. The system stopped working again so the contractor came out. The process was smooth and professional, and the technician was responsive. He came out the next morning and was able to do the repairs necessary. The air conditioner seems to be working fine.

Sometimes, the connections are not very well and American Home Shield’s response takes some time. Otherwise, everything is okay. When I submitted a claim for a property I rented out, the issue was addressed and the repair was done satisfactorily. It was adequate and timely. The renter was there and he didn't express any concern afterwards.

I had a plumbing repair. It was quick. The plumber was nice and efficient. He advised us to use the warranty on the sink that we have. But he also installed a replacement, which was helpful for us to get something working right away.

My dishwasher was tripping the circuit breaker so I called my home service company, American Home Shield for repair on December 12th 2020. The first tech came out, found that a wire had a short, cut and spliced it and committed to ordering the parts and being back out the following week. I received an email and text that the repair had been completed the following week (which it had not) and I called back AHS. After researching, the associate at their call center said that this claim could not be completed by the tech they had sent out as they were not Authorized to repair the brand appliance that I had so she created a new repair request.
A new tech from Rex Appliance Services came out December 30, 2020. Found the issue and marked down the parts that he needed. He confirmed that he was authorized to repair my brand dishwasher so I felt good about the situation though frustrated that I had been without the dishwasher now for 3 weeks. After several weeks awaiting parts to arrive, I started calling AHS and every associate at their call center in the Philippines that I have spoken to has not been able to provide me with an update other than the fact that they need to send a message to their parts department and they will get back with me. I have called in excess of 15 times over the last 8 weeks and until last week, February 3rd or 4th, I always got the same answer and no one ever got back with me. Multiple times I have asked for a manager to call me and not one time has one reached out.
I have looked to no avail for a US based number for their corporate headquarters and cannot find one. Every number routes to their call center in the Philippines. Last week I was finally able to speak to a rep that told me that the 4 parts had all be received by Rex Appliance Services by 1/25/2021. When I call them, they tell me they do not know where the parts are and they are unable to contact the tech to find out where the parts are. Rex Appliance Services also does NOT have any escalation protocol and the manager there also has not called me back. American Home Shield is very fast to accept the deductible for the repair however they are HORRIBLE at providing the service that would result in a satisfied client.

The techs who serviced my furnace's humidifier thought the fix would work. They opened the vent to see whether the green light would come on but when I went back to the furnace, the light shows its red. The contractor said they are gonna order the parts for it. That's not happening yet and I got a text from Home Shield saying they're investigating things.
I called and the tech came back yesterday. When he was working on the furnace, he noticed it was not humid and the water didn't go through. Something was wrong with the whole device. So, they were gonna recommend to replace it. Currently, my furnace is still running but the humidifier is still not working. The air is too dry. So I'm wondering what would happen my furnace is down and there wasn't any quick response. Other than that, whenever I call, AHS responds right away.

The company called ahead and made an appointment. The tech practiced social distancing and wore a mask the entire visit. He wiped everything down and cleaned it when he was done touching everything. He was great. However, the claim was unable to be resolved. They said they wouldn't be able to resolve the issue and to refile the claim which I did. Right now, it's open without any further action from AHS and I'm not happy with them for reassigning me the same exact company when they've already declared that they can't fix it. Also, the process was difficult because it's all automated and I was unable to speak with a human.

My garage wouldn't close. American Home Shield told me I had protection for that so the garage guy came out. He said it couldn't be fixed 'cause the door would just go up and stop or go down and couldn't be opened back up. He would come the next day to put in the new garage door opener. I took off work the next day. He didn't come out or even call back to say anything.
I called American Home Shield to see what happened with the man and they said that I didn't have protection for my garage door. Why would they tell me that I have when I didn't? The man could have come out and say that it's not covered and that it will be this amount for him to put it in. I would have paid for the thing as I still needed it regardless of whether they cover it or not. I called him and left a couple messages before I knew that they weren't paying for it. I was also having a furnace issue and the furnace company that was sent out had a lot going on in life. I'm getting another company.
Now, we managed to get the door down. But I still don't have a garage door 'cause I'm dealing with another issue with my furnace. Why didn't they know that upfront? With computer systems and everything, I don't really get all that to be a misquote from another person. I'm paying it for the service and I didn't get the service. It was a waste of time.

My refrigerator wasn't getting cold. Tri City Appliance came and the man looked at it so quickly. He opened the door then he looked at the back. He said that it got a refrigerant leak. He gave me my yellow copy and told me that I'd be hearing from AHS. I called Tri City and they didn't know who came to the house. I'm a disabled 100% veteran with mental issues and it scared me to death. They also couldn't find the paperwork. It went on like that. They told me they could send somebody out and I said no because I don't like people coming in anyhow with COVID. They couldn't figure out what to do and so I told them that they needed to find that paperwork.
I contacted the main office and I talked with someone there. She pulled up one lady that answered the phone at the main office and asked me if I have been paying my premiums. I told her my premiums come out of my check automatically. Then she asked me for my contract number and I gave her, but that number wasn't in the system. Finally, this other supervisor called me back and gave me my new AHS number.
This last company that came out, the guy was very nice. He went in and had his tools and checked it out. He showed me and said that a little fuse had burnt. He put the little part in and by the next day, everything was good. The only thing I got to read is my icemaker. When I went back to the book, it said something about turning the water on. I'm going to check that out myself. I've never had this problem before with AHS. But they worked with me as best they could. Just don't send those Tri City people to my house anymore. I wouldn't get rid of AHS for anything. All the years I've been with them, they replaced my air conditioner ‘cause that had gone kerplunk.

American Home Shield sent out Flash Garage Door Service to my rental property. The renters were not able to close the door properly. It was opening and closing. It would close, and then it would open on its own. Then, there was a switch which needed to be replaced, and they came in and they replaced the switch. Everything was smooth. Once I paid my $75 fees, they just came in and did it.

The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. I wanted to make sure that my AC was working properly and he explained to me why I wasn't getting the proper air in one of the rooms. I would have AHS again. I canceled my account because I sold my home but they provided excellent service. I’m very satisfied with them.

The AC was not turning on when I wanted it to cool and it wasn't heating when I wanted it to heat. The contractor was relatively quick and came out in less than a week. It was really a good experience.

My dishwasher wasn't going through cycle and it wasn't draining. When Eric came out, he said it was the motor of something that he repaired the first time. I ran it maybe once or twice and it did it again. What he found was two things have burnt out at this time. Overall, he's very professional and knowledgeable. If he didn't know something, he made a phone call to figure out what was going on.
I've been on the fence with American Home Shield as of lately. Last summer, each time my AC unit went out, I had to wait several days for repairs. I constantly complained about that. So, I'm trying to find what I really liked about it because right now, dealing with my dishwasher, I want to say this has been the best process I've had with American Home Shield so far.

My outside air conditioner for my upstairs was not kicking on. The thermostat control settings were not responsive. My online claim was accepted and responded to within about five minutes and I got a number to call. I called the people that were going to come out and fix it. I left a message with them and then they called me right back and we talked about it. The next day, they got somebody out right away. The technician was a very personable and very well-mannered individual. He came up and we talked. I went around to the side of the house with him. He talked me through what he was doing and all the different steps he went through. I was perfectly satisfied and happy with his work. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield.

A repair guy showed up for two leaks in my faucet and he did a great job. He had to replace my entire faucet on my kitchen sink and then I was supposed to have something fixed on my bathroom sink. He said that it was missing a part, so American Home Shield said that they wouldn't cover it anymore. The repair guy got the part for my bathroom sink and I had to pay him out of pocket. That sucked a little since I already had to pay, but we're able to use the sink, which is necessary. I definitely recommend American Home Shield. I'm not sure how much a plumber typically is but I'm sure it saved me a couple $100 on that visit.

I called American Home Shield because the walls were leaking. They sent a plumber out. The plumber said, “It's not the sink, it's the air conditioner leaking.” So, then AHS sent an air conditioner person out. The air conditioner person came out, said it was not the air conditioner, it was the plumbing. They had four different contractors come out to my house until somebody resolved it. I was just going back and forth with American Home Shield. At first, they were trying to charge me $75 every time they sent a contractor out, and I told them, “No. ‘Cause no one is fixing the problem, so I'm not gonna pay anybody until it's fixed.” I went through all of this drama with them and talking to supervisors, and then they finally said, “Okay, we're gonna waive the $75 until the problem is solved.” But other than that, I haven't had any issues.

Our water heater was whistling and making these really weird sounds. I didn’t want to take a chance on having the thing blow up on us so we had a plumber come out. He checked everything and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. So it was good news. The plumber was prompt and he did a good job. American Home Shield also did a good job when we had a problem with our refrigerator. It took about four visits to get it done, but it works fine now.

The plumber came out twice for the same exact issue but on another toilet. He essentially came out on the first toilet and replaced the wax ring on the toilet. Then we discovered that there was mold in the subfloor there and he helped diagnose that. Then he came out a second time for another issue with the toilet. He even left me the boxes for the things that he actually used to fix the toilet. So in the future, I would know what he used as a product to put into the toilet.
I actually didn't know that AHS was actually my home warranty. And so when I did a search on Google, the only thing that I found was actually negative reviews about them. So I was kind of scared to call them. I didn't know until I talked to my Realtor and my loan gal, that I was with AHS. So I'm glad I confirmed and that it worked out. It's super easy to submit a claim. We just call and I already have a credit card saved on file. So if something happens again, they just run that credit card already for the $3 to $5 deductible and that's it. I didn't realize that I could submit claims online until after the second time that we called.

The Alpha Omega Mechanical tech was very knowledgeable in what he was doing and explained everything that he found. He said that what could be fixed and what didn't need to be fixed. He had a very detailed estimate. But American Home Shield did not authorize the repair. They wanted an extra $75, even though I had already paid it and we never got reimbursed. We paid the money and we received no service. Also, it was absolutely awful trying to communicate with AHS's people and everybody that we spoke to had a very thick Filipino accent. It was very hard to understand them. The last time that we reached out, the gentleman that was on the phone taking our order told us that our refund will take until at least February 21st. And at first, he said he didn't see any notes and then all of a sudden, he saw all the notes that were there to allow the service. It's been a nightmare.

The dishwasher would not drain. The contractor came out and fixed it right away. They were very good. They were on time. They're an excellent company. I also used American Home Shield when the motor went out on my air condition on my blower. It was in the middle of a hot summer and it was 95 degrees in my house. I'm 73 years old. I called American Home Shield and I tried to get somebody out as quick as possible because when you're old and you're hot, it's not good. But they kept putting me off. So I called my local air conditioning guy that took care of my air conditioner and it cost me $900, but American Home Shield paid nothing.
It seems like every time you call American Home Shield, you got to wait until they send their person or whoever they choose, and they're not real quick about it. If it's something important that could affect your life, they should get it done right away. They should prioritize it or they should get their priorities straight. They'll pay for it, but they'll want to wear you down until you say, "No, I can't wait any longer," and you just take care of it yourself. But then, you've already paid their $100, and they don't give that back either. So I'm not real crazy about American Home Shield. I'm probably getting ready to get rid of them. I pay around $50 every month and I don't get anything out of it.

The contractor did a satisfactory job. They had the issue unstopped within 30 minutes and they were on their way. They were very professional. I'm very satisfied with AHS. I've had it for 18 years and all those years I've had to use it so I'm not gonna go complain. Without it, I would have been messed up being I was a single mother with a disabled child for a long time.

Back in October, when it was freezing here and we had ice and snow, I had no heat. It was the heat pump. So, I had to go to emergency heat. American Home Shield sent a guy and some group out of Abilene. They ordered a card, put it in, and it froze again New Year's Day. It looked like an ice cube out there. So, the next guy came out, looked at it, and he opened it up and he said, "What the hell is that?" He said he bypassed all of the stuff and the defroster card was from 50 to 80, which does me no good when it's 20. He said that it needed to be replaced because it was also leaking.
Another week went by and American Home Shield sent another group out to check and verify it. They said they needed to replace the heat pump. American Home Shield approved it, and then about four weeks later, I finally got it. Finally, they got it resolved. Thank God we didn't have any ice, even though it's supposed to be two degrees Sunday night. I'm very thankful that I have it. I've had American Home Shield since 2013, and I've recommended it to several people. It saved me money. The bad thing is the price keeps going up. It started at 400, and now, it's 862. It's doubling all the time. So, I may have to look at other warranty services to see what their rates are.

It was a positive experience with AHS. The tech that came for my dryer was very nice. My son ran the dryer and accidentally got the lint trapped so his socks got stuck in there. The tech had to take it apart and remove the socks. He was very professional.

I was having trouble with my oven. I called American Home Shield in October when it first started and they sent someone out. The first company that came out said they had to order a part. The part came in a week and a half prior to October 2nd. Technicians came out and replaced the part. The oven was working fine for some weeks. I tried to turn the oven on again and there was a strong odor like something was burning so I turned it off and I never used it again. I tried it a second time and there was no heat coming from it. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone else out. This was 60 days right after the first company came back out. I was told I would be charged a copay again.
The guy who came out this time around looked at the oven. I told him that there was something burning. He went behind the oven and said that he knew what he needed. He had to order the parts and the parts came to my house. I got two packages. The guy sent me an email saying that he would be out on the 25th of January. He came out and he told me that the smell I was smelling was burning whatever the first company replaced. The guy replaced that. On Friday, I turned the oven on and preheated it to 400. I went to check on whatever I had in there after 30 minutes and the oven only reached 290. It was just warm and whatever I had in there did not cook. I reached back out on Saturday or Sunday and I was told someone is gonna be sent out on Thursday.
I was in a predicament where I had to keep going through these problems. American Home Shield did what they would normally do which is to send someone out, get the problem diagnosed and, replace what needed to be replaced. I was fine with the service. They have no control over parts that need to be ordered. My main concern was that I had to pay another copay for the same ongoing issue. Also, when American Home Shield sent me the whole listing of the price, I was like, "Why would American Home Shield keep putting out this type of money where they could just replace the stove?" I didn't understand that.

We had a key changed. All I had to do was call Home Shield and they set it up. I had a call back from the locksmith within a couple of hours and he set an appointment for two days out. It was good. He did it first thing in the morning too.

The service itself is okay overall. But I've been having some issues with getting the right vendor at the house. Sometimes you have to call a second opinion because the first vendor for some reason put some incorrect information. So the service hasn't really been beneficial because it takes a second opinion to get things fixed. I have an appliance issue that hasn't been fixed yet. The last time I talked to Jea's Appliance, they said that they needed a part. But that was two weeks ago.

My heater was blowing out cold air instead of hot air. It wasn't heating the house. The guy came in. He was extremely professional, very courteous and did a whole investigative thing into what was going on. He found the problem and fixed it. He replaced my thermostat and it's been working beautifully since then. I was very happy.
The claim submission process at AHS is very simple. I’ve used them twice. One was an air conditioning issue and then the other one was the heating issue. Both times, I simply called them. They immediately had a guy call me to schedule an appointment within 24 hours. They came and fixed it. I never saw a bill other than the copay. I am extremely happy. AHS saved me a lot. I told my sister to do it as well.

We got a new washing machine and dryer. The washing machine people said that the valve has a green-green stuff on it so they cannot plug the washer. They replaced the valve and fixed the leak under the sink. They changed something in the sink and it's fine now. They're good. These last couple of months, I've been telling the reps at AHS that the number they call and the email is my wife's. I've been telling them to put my email and number on there but they haven't.

I almost canceled American Home Shield because I had some issues like I wasn't happy about my washing machine claim. Then I do claims online if I can. But if I need to talk to somebody about something, I try to call because I usually can't express myself when I'm online. The biggest complaint I have is that they're computerized. If they don't give the right option there, I hope I could get ahold of somebody. But they're fine. Recently, Mel's Preventive Maintenance came out to do some AC work. The tech did a good job and was highly professional.

I had a leak in my faucet and the sink in two bathrooms. I called American Home Shield and they said someone will call me in 24 to 48 hours. The repair guy was very good. He changed the faucets, told me what was leaking and showed me what needed to be done. I would get him again.

AHS sent out Complete Air Mechanical of Central Florida Inc. to work on my AC system. Initially, their techs looked at the unit and wanted 1,700 to fix it. I had an issue with that because it was a bit more than what most companies charge. So, I called around and called back Maximum, the company that put the heating and air system in the house when the house was being built. I asked them how much the Freon costs since Complete Air company was trying to charge $100 a pound for it.
Then, I called back American Home Shield and I told them that I thought Complete Air was trying to overcharge us, so I didn't want to go with that company. When I was speaking to American Home Shield, the gentleman on the phone spoke about a cash out option. He said that if I wanted to do that, I had to let American Home Shield know that. Then I could go and find who I want it to fix the AC, which was Maximum Air, because they were the ones who had always serviced my system twice a year. They knew this system and they had been out here before with my system. So I wanted somebody that was already familiar with that system to fix it.
Plus, what they were going to do to this system sounded really off to me, too. They wanted to get a part that didn't necessarily go with my system, which is a Lennox, and they wanted to solder it. Basically, they wanted to retrofit a piece into the system. So, I felt uncomfortable with going with a company that was retrofitting something into a system that could cost me thousands of dollars if it messed up again.
Aside from that, when I asked them what type of workmanship warranty they'd give me, they said they didn't have that. But I've had new homes before and when you do work on something as expensive as an air conditioning system, the company offers a workmanship warranty and if they do some work and mess something up, they have a warranty that stands behind their work. Complete Air told me that I would have to go back to American Home Shield in order to have them come out again if there was something wrong with their work. So again, I would have to pay to have them to come out again and diagnose it. I also went without heat in my house for almost five weeks and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

I submitted the claim for my microwave that wasn't heating up and the technician came out within the next couple of days. He was very professional. I showed him where it was at. He did his test and found out that my electronic board to my microwave wasn't working. He ordered me another one. It came in on a Monday then he came the next day. It didn’t take long for everything to get completed. The other claim didn't go so well. The technician came in and looked at it. He said he couldn't find anything wrong. Within the next couple of days, I had to call again for another service. This guy from General Electric came in. He was more in depth with his findings and he fixed it.

My sister was complaining that when she put a new light, the light blew so she had to replace the light fixture, not just the light bulb. It came back on then it blew again. She had also told me that her brand new vacuum stopped working twice. She had some other electronic purchases that she'd plug into a wall that did the same thing twice. That all sounded electrical to me to have new things breaking like that and the light not working. The electrician came out and I asked him to check if everything was okay with the electricity in that house. He said that it's as safe as it can be for a 20-year-old modular home which gave me the impression it isn't that safe. When he left, the light was working and now it's not. I don't know that it's his fault that it's not working or if there's something internally wrong with the electricity. But he seemed nice. He came and did whatever he was supposed to do.
We've also used AHS for a dryer repair. The contractor repaired it and it's still working. We have a dishwasher repair coming up on the 16th. However, I'm gonna have to let the policy go. When my mom died, she left my sister the house and a small amount of money that will pay the property tax insurance and a little bit of utility. I don't have enough money to carry her through for her life. If I add another $60 bill, I won't have enough. But I would do it again buying a house when it's not new especially if it's modular. I would also recommend AHS. When I sold my house, I bought a two-year policy for the new people even though I knew everything in the house was either new or working. I gave them two years of peace of mind.

Usually, if I put the claim in today, someone calls me the very next day and sets up something. This time though, there might have been a miscommunication or things have changed. When I called back the next day, I said, “Well, no one never reached me. And every time I tried calling, no one answered the phone.” The American Home Shield rep told me I had to wait 72 hours before anyone would contact me for a repair. I said, “Okay. You didn't tell me that yesterday.”
The wait threw me off when she didn't tell me that at the beginning. I've been using American Home Shield for years and that was the first time that ever happened. Still, I left it alone. The guy who came was perfect, but the machine was too old for him to repair. Overall, American Home Shield was great. I've used the repair company before too.

I had something leaking onto my ceiling on the first floor from the second floor. The first time technicians came, they cut holes on the ceiling on the first floor. One hole was where the spot was and the other one was right under one of my toilets upstairs. That was to verify that the leak was not coming from there. The first hole they cut was exactly where the stain was. And it was still like that. They told me to monitor it then call them back and they would come out. That was overnight and it kept leaking. I called them to come back out. The second guy who came said that it was my toilet in my master bedroom that was causing the leak.
He recommended that I have a floor specialist come out and do the place where the toilet seat is properly. The toilet seat is below the floor and not on top of the floor the way it's supposed to be. What's going on is the water is leaking in between the toilet and the seat where the wax ring is. American Home Shield is gonna send a company on the 17th of February to patch that up the ceiling where the holes were cut. But technicians are gonna come and fix whatever needs to be fixed in the toilet tomorrow. From there, we are gonna monitor until the 17th. I'm satisfied with this work order.
I put in a work order about a month ago for a refrigerator and that was never resolved. One company called me to schedule an appointment and they left a message. I tried calling back and this went on for about a month. Nobody ever answered. I cancelled the work order and American Home Shield returned my $100 for the service request. At this point, I have not gotten that refrigerator fixed. That claim could have been taken care of a little better.

I can submit a claim online just fine and that process is okay. I call too, but that process is a little more cumbersome as I have to wait on the phone for a very long time. With my recent appliance issue, I originally submitted it at the beginning of December and it was just resolved this weekend. Warrior Heating & Cooling was the second contractor to come out and they were fabulous. The gentleman listened to what I said and he was wonderful. If he could have been the first person to come out, the issue would have been resolved back in the beginning of December and it would have been great. I have since recommended that company to other individuals.

I've tried numerous Home Warranty companies and American Home Shield has been the only one where it's consistent. With the other ones, you file a claim, and it's a 50/50 toss-up of whether the claim is going to be covered or not. With American Home Shield, I've never had any issues. If something is on my contract, and it breaks and I need it fixed, American Home Shield has always been there to fix it.
Anytime I've had a claim where I've gone online and I've got a company, and then you Google the company, they have two and a half stars or less. They're not very good companies. There have been numerous times where I've called American Home Shield to request a different contractor. But if there was a way to select what companies available for certain claims on the website, I would go there to submit my claims instead of waiting on hold over the phone.
The company Brooks Appliance Repair was awesome. I had them come out for something unrelated to American Home Shield. Then, when I had a claim, I asked for Brooks Appliance Repair and American Home Shield said that they were available so I got them. My experiences with them have all been great. I'm going to be canceling my policy because I'm selling my house but when we buy our next house, we'll be getting them again.

We called the contractor for the furnace that went off. They came the next morning and did an excellent job. They got it up running and everything's been fine. The only thing is my wife has a hard time getting to talk to a person. It's always a machine. It's difficult to navigate through sometimes, but we handle it. We've had AHS for five years now and we're well pleased with the system and the way everything's going.

There are certain things that I'm not happy about with American Home Shield. We had a downdraft range and it wasn't working. They replaced it for us, which was nice. They said that I had two choices. Either they give me the money and I was gonna purchase whatever I wanted or if I could wait and they would order the range for me. The installation would be on them. I was fine with that so we waited three months. After which we got the unit. The unit has been sitting in my house for a month now. I have two kids in my house and I have this large unit sitting on the floor. Every time these kids run around, I feel like they're gonna get caught and get hurt. I don't have a big place.
American Home Shield sent me five different installers that were supposed to install the unit. The first company that came said they only do repairs and not installation. I got on the phone and talked to an American Home Shield representative. He said he had another place for me. The company was Easy something and I told him that those guys had already been to my house. I needed somebody to install the range and I was not needing repair work. We went back and forth.
The second company that came out was Sears but they couldn't do the installation either. I talked to another representative who told me I was gonna be connected with another company. The third company came and it was the same thing. the fourth person I talked to said he had the perfect company that will take care of the installation. I said, “What's the name of the company?” He goes, “Easy.” I said, “No. They don't do that. They don't do any installing.” He goes, “They do. I just spoke with them.” I said, “Sir, I have their number. I spoke with them. They do not do any installation.” When it comes to installing, the companies that American Home Shield deals with are not the top-of-the-line companies. They're just mediocre. If you go and look at the reviews, there are bad reviews about every one of them. They are just trying to shortchange people like me.
Finally, I found a company that supposedly works with American Home Shield. But a representative to me that the company does not work with American Home Shield. I said, “To install something like this is gonna cost me $354 or something. I have the estimate sheet from the company.” The representative said they would give me $125. After the job is done, I need to submit something to them.
I’m not happy. We live in the United States and not some third world country. There's no way you're telling me that a large company like this can't find a company to come in and install the unit. That's very hard for me to believe. I have two different homes with American Home Shield and we are paying over $1,000 a year plus $100 every time someone comes in.
Before, I was with Sears and they were terrible. American Home Shield is good but they just don't put through with everything that they promise. They're lacking. I don't like the fact that every time I call, they connect me to either Mexico or the Philippines. I need to speak with somebody who is here in the United States. You ask them for a manager and their manager is not on site. It's just very annoying.
I had another claim where the heater was shutting off and we had some water in the bottom of the pan. The system was shutting off. I called American Home Shield and told them the issue. It's easy doing a claim with them. I paid $100 and United Air Temp came down. I always them. They told me that there was no filtering there. That was what was causing the problem. The moisture from up top was not getting soaked into the filter.

American Home Shield is the best. When we first purchased our home in Illinois, the prior homeowners purchased us some random home warranty and they were godawful. We stopped using it because they were useless. But American Home Shield is doing something different than what other folks are doing, so they should keep doing it. I'm not at home all the time, so it's been a big help for me. If some thing’s going and I'm on the road, my wife doesn't feel helpless. She knows that I can make a call or she can make a call and have somebody come out and get the issue corrected for us. So they're part of the family.

I had an issue with my heater. It would click on and fire up a few times, but it wouldn’t consistently run the flame. It was because the flame sensor had been corroded out. Super Air diagnosed and fixed that within the hour that they were there. Everything was good with Super Air. American Home Shield has been working fine, so far.

I did a claim for a clogged-up frozen garbage disposal through American Home Shield's online option and that was convenient. A guy came out and was very nice and polite. He practiced social distancing. He fixed the problem quickly and did a good job. It was something that could be done with a broomstick and I should have been able to do it, but I didn't. I tried to fix it but I just didn't dig at it hard enough. I was afraid I was gonna break it. But the guy dug hard.

We had an issue with our garbage disposal. H & K Plumbing came and fixed it. I had a different home warranty company six months ago, and we had to call them out. H & K Plumbing also came out but the service was terrible. Then when we had this new claim with American Home Shield and it was the same vendor, I was worried that the experience was gonna be terrible, but it wasn't. They sent two different people and it was great.

We've had American Home Shield coming up on a year on this house, but we've had them on previous homes. I like the fact that I do the claims over the computer. They take the credit card. However, following up would be one area they could improve on because we had an issue with one of the plumbing companies. The plumbing company ordered a polished nickel nozzle and the set is brushed nickel. On a home that we did a $100,000 renovation in the kitchen on, I got two sinks and the two doesn't mix.
Recently, we weren't getting heat. The repair company went up into the attic, took a look at it and there was some blockage. The guy removed the filters, gave me the sizes and said that we needed to go and purchase those because American Home Shield doesn't cover it. Once he removed all those, we made sure the heat was working, which it did.

Our refrigerator quit functioning on us and it turned out that it was the compressor. It took a little bit longer to get the part than was expected. So, American Home Shield authorized us to get a mini fridge for $150 and they paid for that until they were able to get the part. We were able to get the refrigerator repaired and everything's working A-okay now. The problem was addressed well and I was very satisfied. That was the only time we submitted a claim to AHS and we were new to the process. They should outline the procedure of how to file a claim and how it works for new people. For new home buyers, having a home warranty is very essential and I recommend it highly.

It smelled like something was burning. My husband put in a claim and the guy who came was very good. He cleaned everything off, put something on the wires and it's been working good now. American Home Shield is also cheaper than making the call for a regular heater guy to come in.

Our emergency heat was stuck running all the time even if we turned the whole unit off. This time around was great. It was a lot smoother. But our first claim was a nightmare. When we tried to submit the ticket online, it didn't work. It seems like a lot of your stuff was sent to people overseas. American Home Shield set us up with somebody that didn't show. And then we tried to call to resolve all those issues. We couldn't even get anybody on the phone. Between my husband and I, we had a total of 12 hours on hold on the phone. One time, one lady fell asleep on the phone with my husband. It took months and months to get the issue resolved. I'm also a real estate agent. I was freaking out because I sold AHS' home warranty to other people. And I was like, “Oh my god. Is this the service they’re giving out?” I’m so embarrassed.

Our refrigerator ice stopped and wasn't cooling the refrigerator at all, just the freezer. I figured it had frozen up most of it, but I didn't know how to get back into the coil. I called Home Shield very late on a Saturday night and they sent a man out Monday afternoon. He defrosted it and discovered it was the thermostat. He replaced the thermostat, and it's all back to normal.

We had a garage door repair claim and American Home Shield got what we needed done. I called to make sure it's covered. I don't wanna pay it and then not be covered. The tech who came was great. He went above and beyond because of the time it took to actually find somebody. They had to cancel at first because of the weather. The only thing is it's kind of hard getting ahold of American Home Shield sometimes. The call volume is insane. Also, we had to get a plumber out here. We paid $100, and they couldn't even do anything, so that was kind of disappointing.

I had a lot of trouble with my furnace. There was a company that came out twice and fixed it temporarily. Then this second one came out twice. The second guy they sent really knew old floor furnaces that are run by gas. He fixed it. But the first guy knew that that was the wrong kind of thermostat. He changed that, but it didn't really fix the problem. What I appreciated about them is they listened. And they finally sent me their old floor furnace expert.
I'd like the companies that American Home Shield uses to know more about old gas floor furnaces. The first company was nice and they tried but they didn't know what they were doing. They replaced the thermostat also. But they put in another digital one, which doesn't work with old gas furnaces. It was frustrating because I was freezing. This started in December. So, it took a long time to get the fix. There were two companies with two calls each. With the first one, I was six days late calling back after the 30-day limit, which I didn't know about. They charged me again and I didn't like that. When a technician comes, they should say, “If you have a problem, make sure to call us before 30 days.” They didn't say that. That was also frustrating.

I had an oven issue and I called GE and left a very detailed message of where, who, and when to call. They just ignored it and called me, but I was in a meeting and couldn't take it. I got their message after the meeting ended. When I spoke to their delivery person, he said the guy would not go back there and he gave me a phone number to call. It was a Saturday and that number was closed until Monday so handing me that didn't do me any good either. That was pretty disappointing. I talked to somebody with American Home Shield at customer service and they got it rescheduled for Tuesday. It happened and GE got it fixed. With the plumbing issue I've had most recently, I scheduled it on a Tuesday night and people reached out. It was taken care of by 10:00 the next morning. That was a considerable improvement. Having AHS makes it very easy when there's an issue.

I would recommend American Home Shield to anyone. I told my girlfriend and some more people about it. My sister has some home warranty with her company and I also told her she should go with American Home Shield. She's considering it too. She had a microwave that was broken and it took her almost a month to get it replaced. I told her every time the contractors with American Home Shield came out, my stuff was fixed the same day. Sears was recently sent out for the refrigerator and they were excellent. They said there was a piece broken with the icemaker and told me everything they were doing. They had the part for the icemaker there on the truck and I didn’t have to wait.

I had some electrical repair work done and the first tech that AHS sent out didn't know anything. Then they sent a second one. There were some loose outlets and he fixed them all. It was a good experience. One time, we got our water heater replaced and it was supposed to be all covered by AHS. The plumber charged us $600 when he came in and then he didn't change anything. He just replaced the heater. Then when we asked him, he said it was uninsured stuff. So, then I called American Home Shield to find out what all is covered. They said the heater is covered unless he changed some pipeline. Nothing like that happened. It ended up costing me quite a bit to replace the heater issue.
But overall, it's a good experience with AHS. It's good that we can get a hold of somebody any time of the day. There is no time restriction, that they are available 24/7. The representatives on the phone, normally are all good. It's just a little bit difficult to schedule the appointment with whatever company, ‘cause most of the time, they don’t give us a time. Like, “This is the time we're showing up.” Barely any call and ask for what time is good for us.

C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came out very quickly and resolved my issue. The plumber was very professional and informative. The only thing about them is that their mailbox is full. I couldn't leave them a message and they weren't answering the phone. It was like one or two days that I had to wait for them to get back in contact. But I had a really good experience. American Home Shield is worth the monthly fee. It saves money in the long run so I definitely recommend it.

It took the tech a couple of days to get out here because he's super busy but the experience was fantastic. He got in and out in less than an hour and the clothes dryer works great. He's been out here two or three times over the course of the last year. He is my favorite out of all the techs that AHS has ever sent out. He's very conscientious. He came in masked, gloved-up and very square under these circumstances. If you ever need anything repaired, Mr. Fix It is your guy. We've been in this house for two years and had numerous home warranty repair works done. AHS has been reasonably consistent and I would recommend them to friends or anyone. It's a good value and we're pleased with the experience.

The technician that American Home Shield sent out was very knowledgeable, kept me apprised ahead of time of when he was going to be here and was right on time. He looked at the appliance and quickly discern what the problem was. He had the part that was needed. He went to his truck, picked the part up, and put it in. It went very well. I had a heating problem with my furnace and the guy from A&E Electric came out. He knew what he was doing. I also had a plumbing stoppage and it was easy to submit a claim once I got through the recording (all those prompts). However, the provider they sent out was horrible. The guy claimed he has 15 years experience, but he couldn't fix the problem. He made up lies too. People can Google my address and see how much my home is worth. This guy claimed that I had pipes missing and there was a major problem. He didn’t even submit a request for what was needed until I kept calling and calling to ask when he was coming back because after he came, he tried to clear the line and couldn't.
I tried to show him what was happening. I have a Jacuzzi bath and a shower and toilet. Shower and toilet were plugged, while my two sinks and my tub were not. They feed into the same line, so that tells me the line on the left side where the toilet and the shower are connected was plugged. I know my house, but he wouldn't listen. He kept saying, “No, it's further down the line.” He went under the house, claimed that this was wrong and that was wrong and he came up with some crazy nonsense. I then got a call from American Home Shield that they can’t cover it. I said, “Well, that's not the problem. It's a stoppage.” That man said, “I'll do it later. I'll come back the next day and replace some parts."
That man was from Safe Cali Plumbing and he never called or came back. That's when I started calling. I said, “What happened?” AHS said, “Well, we're going to send another provider out.” They sent the second provider out, and he never showed up. That was CornerStone. I called and said, “Hey, where is he?” I was given a window from 11:00 till 3:00. At 5 o'clock I called, and the people from American Home Shield said that he'll be here in an hour. They called him up and told him to expedite it. An hour passed, I called up. American Home Shield kept saying, “Oh, no. He'll be out. He'll be out.” I called the guy from CornerStone, and he said he wouldn't come out until Tuesday. I told American Home Shield that.
I also said, “This has been going on for eight days now. You need to send somebody else or I'm going to have to pay for a plumber.” I have no problem doing that, but I have American Home Shield. They sent out Accent Plumbing and the gentleman tried to clean the pipe out. He said, “My snake only went 10 feet. There's a blockage.” I have a tri-level home and it's custom made. We were able to go and see the pipes. He went down there and he showed me where the blockage was, but he had to get permission in order to remove that pipe. He called up American Home Shield and they said, “No, you can’t do it because it's removing pipes.” Still, he said, “I'll do it, but it'll run 220.” I said, “Great, do it then. I just need this length cleared.”
The gentleman goes, “No, I can't do it because I have another call that I have to go to. I'll do it Tuesday.” I said, “Okay. Thank you, anyway.” He didn't clear the line, so I called a plumbing company up, and they came out and did it for 250. They removed the pipe exactly where the gentleman from Accent said. He was great, but American Home Shield didn't give him the permission to do so because of some clause. I've been calling American Home Shield, and I keep getting these people offshore to ask for my $100 back for the provider call. They kept saying no because they all came out. I said, “But they didn't do the job.” I was gonna call yesterday, but I said, “You know what? It's not even worth it anymore to be hassling it.” That’s my story.
The first guy didn't know what he was doing. The second guy never showed. The third guy knew what he was doing. He gave it his all, but he couldn't clear the line unless he removed the pipe, and he didn't get permission. Nobody cleared the line until I had to put up $250 and I stopped calling American Home Shield to try to get my money back. It wasn't American Home Shield’s fault. It was the providers. I also told the agents that take the calls to look at the reviews of Safe Cali Plumbing. They had the most horrible reviews I'll ever read in my life. Every one of them said that, “American Home Shield’s gonna send you Safe Cali Plumbing. If they come out, refuse to let them in,” or “They're the worst.“ It went on and on and AHS won't give me my 100 bucks back.
I was really upset with that. It took eight days to fix the problem. Eight days I was without a toilet and luckily, I have three toilets. However, I'm disabled and I had to walk up or down the stairs. My toilet’s in my master bedroom. I called up American Home Shield's departments and told them, “Never ever, ever send that guy.” I hope I never have a plumbing problem, but my home’s getting old. I never had a plumbing problem in the 21 years that I've been here and then I did.

It’s hard to understand what American Home Shield is covering because the cost to pay the technician seems to be the amount of money that it would cost for the product that they're replacing as well as the installation charges. I decided to go and get my own plumber, the water heater and installation for less money.

The plumber noticed a leak. It was a pinhole in the pipe for the water heater. To fix it, we needed to shut the water heater off and the water heater shutoff was also defective. He couldn't shut the water off and he didn't have all the equipment. He said he will have to let the company know what needs to be done so he wasn't able to do anything on the night that he came. He wasn't sure when he would be back. Meanwhile, we had to shut the whole house off so that it won't be damaging further into the wall with the drywall getting wet inside the wall. But my daughter lives there and she has two kids and whenever they need water, they had to go back outside the house to turn the main on so they could use the water. Once they were finished, they had to turn it back off.
We have a neighbor who does plumbing sometimes and I asked him to do something about it. He put a new shutoff and put a temporary patch to plug out the little hole so my daughter can have water. He said that when the tech comes back, the tech needs to cut that section off and put a new piece in it. Then, the tech came back and he saw the pinhole was patched with solder. He said he doesn't need to fix it anymore. I said that was just a temporary fix but he refused to fix it. We started arguing and he left. We called American Home Shield and complained about it. They sent another plumbing company who cut the section off and replaced it. So far, we have had very good luck with American Home Shield. They always try to make everything right so we're happy with the company.

There was a leaking pipe in the kitchen and when I submitted a claim with AHS, it was easy. The techs who came out were great as well. The plumber came out for us to repair the pipe and they sent Mr. Handyman to repair the drywall. The quality of their work was very good but Mr. Handyman replaced the piece that was cut out and they didn't paint it. So, they just left this new piece of drywall that doesn't match the rest of the house and I have to go and repaint the whole house to match that piece that they installed. On top of that, we have some water damage on the kitchen floor, which was caused by that leak, and apparently, AHS does not cover that.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was easy. I just paid my service fee upfront and they contacted Lynch Electrical, who then contacted me. They came out to fix my attic fan. And then, I had a light bulb in the basement that needed to be rewired. And they worked on helping me identify some switches in my garage. The tech was very nice and quite informative. He was able to explain to me the process and what I have to do. Although he couldn't fix it the first day, he came back the very next week and completed the job. There is one more thing that I have to call them back later on. He said it needed to be greased, and he didn't have his grease gun with him. Since it's wintertime and this is a summer kind of thing, there is not a big rush on him coming back.
This is my second year with AHS. Most things that they have done for me were fine. But I had one issue. One of their contractors they sent out here to fix a sink in my bathroom, I told them, “Don't ever send that man to my house again.” We had to find somebody else to come out to work on my plumbing. And they were able to find me a different plumber. Also, there are certain things that they don't cover that other companies do. I've got a couple of faucets outside the house for when you water your grass. They don't cover that, but one of their competitors does. And I was also told about the amount of antifreeze that they will cover when you have your air conditioning unit. They don't cover enough to cover my thing, but another competitor does.
I've learned a couple of things that they don't cover that makes me wonder whether or not I should go without them first. But other than that, most of the time when I've called them, it has been rather quick. The people have come out and done the work. And the folks that they had have been very educating. For the most part, I've had a very positive experience with AHS.

My cooktop controls were flaky. They beep all the time and change the temperature. Also, the microwave was old. I was so thrilled with the repair people who came. They did a great job. They came back and figured out what needed to be replaced on both of them. Then AHS decided that they were going to fix the cooktop and replace the microwave. The microwave is back ordered which is fine. For the cooktop, they got the replacement parts and came and fixed it. It's great now. On that or a different trip, they figured out what's wrong with my dryer but I haven't heard yet from AHS if they're gonna repair it or replace it.
When submitting a claim, they had a few items you could check but you couldn't describe the problem. There were not that many choices. It'd be more helpful for the repair people who were coming if I could explain it in detail. I was frustrated with only having other as an option for the microwave. I thought that maybe they could do it in one trip if I told them more about what was going wrong. Also, everything went a lot slower than I expected. I get that the repair people have a schedule and they have to slot you in. They told me when they could come and it was good enough. But when they left here, they said that I should hear back from AHS if they were going to repair it or replace it within two or three days and I haven't heard yet.

I called AHS because the heater would not come on. The process has always been difficult 'cause I have to wait at least an hour. But the contractor called me immediately within 24 hours and he was here the next day. The guy was great. He knew what he was doing. I would absolutely recommend AHS.

I was disappointed with the furnace ticket that never got answered. The furnace was the most important during the storm and the winter and it was just dropped, with no urgency whatsoever. But other than that, AHS still does what they say they're gonna do and I'm satisfied with the work that they've done. They sent out Ryco Electric and the tech took some time out to educate me on some things instead of just coming in to do a repair and leave. He gave me some information that I can use to use on other appliances as well.

My hot water heater was not working. I did a claim online then I got maybe both a call and maybe an email stating which company would be the one contacting me. That company then contacted me. It took a couple of days for someone to come out because we had a blizzard. The guy came out pretty quickly. It was another two or three days before he put a new water heater in, which was okay. It wasn't untimely and it was 'cause it wasn't an emergency. The guy did a good job. I live in a duplex and the furnace went out too and I had to get that dealt with. The hot water heater had been an issue for a while and while I was online for that claim, I threw in a claim for my furnace as well. Although I went almost a week without a furnace, which was not so fun, the claim was fine. There's a new furnace that's working at the moment.

My ice maker was broken and I was without an ice maker for a couple of weeks. It was easy to make the reservation online through American Home Shield. Then I was told that I could expect a call within 24 hours. Stainy’s Appliance Services was very good. They kept me informed when the parts came in and when their tech came out, he was very punctual. He also kept me aware of how far he was from my home. So, it went well. I’ve been having so much trouble with that ice maker but the tech seems to have fixed it. Overall, American Home Shield was good.

AHS said they would get ahold of the contractor quickly and a guy would get ahold of me within 24 to 48 hours. That happened which was great. The guy came out and did a diagnosis. He said he to order some parts and he'd be back in a week or so. I called him in a week and he said, “I just got the parts in. I’ll be over tomorrow or the next day.” He came over and fixed the refrigerator water dispenser. He did great. I had First American Home Warranty last year and they were horrible. With American Home Shield, it was a welcome relief.

I had my house rekeyed. The tech responded within 24 hours. He was able to be there within 24 hours. It just didn't work with our schedule. So it took a week but that was because of us, not because of the tech.

I put in my first work order with American Home Shield November 3rd 2020 to fix our washing machine. After two visits, the technicians sent out said that the unit could not be repaired and would need to be replaced by American Home Shield. AHS advertises that if a product can't be fixed, they will replace it or provide money to buy a new one of your choice. I have not received any communication from AHS in months. I call every week and someone always tells me they'll have a supervisor contact me. We've been waiting 4 months and haven't heard from them, we still have a broken washing machine and they're still charging my credit card every month for a service they're not providing. This is a scam. I would not recommend American Home Shield as they do not provide the services advertised.

I called AHS. I had an issue with a range. There were three eyes on the stove that were working. One of the eyes wasn't working and something was wrong with the oven on the stove. The technician that went out told me the way this stove had been wired, we needed to put an outlet in so the stove could be plugged in the outlet when they brought the replacement stove. So, I had that done. I was told that the stove was going to be at the warehouse on the 1st or the 2nd of February. I called back this week to check about when the stove was going to be there. When I called back, I got the runaround. I spoke to several different people and one representative in particular, took me to my boiling point, because she was saying that she could not find my account, and then she asked me for my credit card number, which was totally inappropriate because I didn't use a credit card to make this purchase.
Prior to that call, I had spoken with another gentleman who was very kind and ordered the range for me. Finally, when I called back a couple of days ago, it was a two-hour and 24-minute wait before I even spoke to a representative. So, I just put my phone on. I just kept listening to that music play for two hours because I was determined that I was gonna try to find out about the stove and when it was gonna be delivered because I have this warranty on a rental property and I don't like to keep my tenants inconvenienced that long. I'm not extremely happy with the process and had even thought about dropping my warranty. But then, I spoke with the guy and now he's saying the stove is going to be at the warehouse on the 5th. He said the delivery date should be somewhere around the 12th of February.
I like American Home Shield because it keeps the warranty customer from spending excessive amounts of money because you pay that one-time fee, and then if there's a new product, they will service you there. But the protocol needs to be a little bit polished. It's ridiculous to keep a customer on hold for two hours and 24 minutes. Also, in terms of the contact, to find out about the product, those numbers should be a little bit more direct, so I don't have to have the runaround.

We discovered that there was a leak in the bathroom in the basement. We reached out to American Home Shield. They were very prompt in their response. They sent someone out to take a look. The plumber identified the problem and changed the pipes without an issue.

I really appreciate Mike's Appliance. The particular service tech that came out was very supportive and helpful. This was the second time that the washer had performed. The first time, it was fixed. But it has been about a year and the transmission on the washer went out again and the same thing started happening. So American Home Shield is going to replace the washer. They have handled the claims very well. You might expect that they're going to try to fix the issue before they do a replacement. But if a unit needs replacing, it does happen which I appreciate. I would also use Mike's Appliance again just because of the great technician they sent.

Poe’s Plumbing went above and beyond what they needed to. The technician was great. But once we submit a claim to American Home Shield and when we have to have a follow-up for something different, it seems like at that point, there's a little bit of pushback. It's more informational and asking more questions in that regard. There were two separate devices that we had to have three different calls on and on the third call, the item was finally replaced outright. It took a little bit of procedure, which are the parameters on how they set up business.

I had another company before I had Barstow & Sons Heating and they won't even deal with American Home Shield. I was very disappointed because I liked the company I've dealt with for years. Barstow has been very kind to me except I get the feeling American Home Shield doesn't give everything they're supposed to. My other company says, "If you want a part, they'll send the cheapest part or won't even send the right part at all." My experience with Barstow, so far, has been good. But the companies can't help what American Home Shield does to them. I found out that American Home Shield makes you pay for the freon. It's close to $100 a pound. I'm still having to go through where I've got to reschedule them to come get the freon which is gonna cost me $400. I'm not being very happy with American Home Shield.

I had a problem with the first company that American Home Shield sent. When I originally called as far as scheduling, it was very rude and unprofessional. They told me, “Well, listen.” First of all, I had to call them. They never called me. They said they got my claim and they would see how they could fit me in. But the times that they gave me was not the times that I will be home.
I told them I could only do afternoons. They said they only got morning so I had to figure out what I needed to do concerning that time schedule. I said, “Well, sir, it don’t work that way, because I'm not gonna be there in the morning. When is the next available time that you could do anytime after 1:00? Anytime after 1:00 is potentially that I could have somebody there. ‘Cause you need an adult to be there, correct?” They said, “Well, look. We only have this time. The next two or three days, we're so extremely busy. I’m trying to fit you in and you’re not working with me.”
I told him that it was not about working with me. Anytime I’ve dealt with a claim, the contractor usually have somebody call 10 to 20 minutes prior to coming. That would have been perfectly fine. But it had to be after 1:00. I’m a school bus driver. So my hours could be very different and challenging because I usually have a certain window of time. I couldn't make those morning schedules. I felt like I was arguing with him.
I don't want to feel like I’m arguing with a company that I’m about to have them come into my house. Then, it would have been a major problem because the tech would have came with an attitude, and I would have started having an attitude. It might have not been pretty. So, I just went ahead and said that I was gonna call American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield and told them to cancel. They got another company out. They were accommodating. They came in and took care of it. It was done.
I had another issue with American Home Shield, where I’m still waiting for a refund, and there has been no communication. They took my money out fast but they charged me twice, and I have not received my money back. Then I opened up a whole new claim, because I had to open up a new claim if I want to get another company and then tell them that I don't want that company. So that's what I ended up doing and that really didn't take that long. But I'm still waiting for my money to even be posted, which has been going on for a week and a half now.
American Home Shield was giving me a hard time because I explained to them we did not want that company again and I didn't like that. That part really made me angry. I’m the customer, I’m paying them. I needed the service done, but I did not want this company, but they were trying to force me to take this company. I spoke to a manager concerning that, and I explained it to her. They went, “We just got to cancel the whole thing.” Why do I have to cancel the whole thing instead of just switching the whole company and dispatch another company? They’ll make it better if a customer is very specific and stated they do not want a certain company because of the experience that they had, they should not be forced to have that company and they should have the option, especially if they’re making it almost like a complaint.

My stove's broiler went out again. Express Appliance Service came right out within a couple of days. They were nice and seemed to be efficient. They decided it needed three parts, overlay, the computer board, and the element itself. They tried to get it and couldn't get one. They reported it back to the company and I didn't hear anything. I called the company twice. Finally, they said they were looking for it. A day or two later, they sent me a message that they couldn't get the parts either so they would be authorizing a new stove. About a day or so later, they sent me out a list of stuff. We went over it and picked out the one we wanted. It was a little more money, so we paid the difference. Now we're waiting till this coming Monday when they're going to deliver. That took from January about 2nd till now to get it resolved. It was a little long.
American Home Shield fixed several other things of ours too, like our dryer, and they also did something with our dishwasher. However, we're still having problems with the refrigerator's ice maker. It's frustrating 'cause it's a nice accessory to have. We can use it. It's just that it's very slow and it freezes up on us. Even though I adjust the temperature all over the place, it doesn't seem to do any good. Overall, they fix things, although sometimes it takes a while.

When I submit service requests, I do it with the automated thing because if I call, I have to be on hold forever. But now, I'm just gonna wait on hold until they answer me. I'd rather do it with a claim rep. because I found out that some things that I needed fixed could have done together on one service fee because it requires the same kind of service, and I didn't know that when I spoke to an American Home Shield rep. They told me in the beginning that when I call to get service, each appliance has a different service fee. But all the claims that I made have been good. Recently, Hotshot Appliance Service came out for my garbage disposal. They were very friendly and kind in explaining why the problem happened and what was wrong with it. I have always recommended American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is the best money you can spend on, especially if you are single or much older like I am. I'm a real estate paralegal so I see a lot of house closings and sales all the time. A lot of times we have buyers asking about the home warranty process and what it entails. If they ask me, I can always tell them my experience. I've had American Home Shield for three years now and it has always been great. I tell everybody, “If you can get that on your contract, get it. It is well worth you buying.”
I always go to American Home Shield when I have a claim. When my oven died and they couldn't get the parts to fix it, American Home Shield replaced my oven. That would have been a big expense because it's in the wall and it's a different size. American Home Shield was great about paying the claim. I also had a garage repair and a furnace repair. The technicians were perfect. They were very professional and on time. They solved the problem. I'm fixing the sale of this house and buying another one at the coast. I plan on continuing with American Home Shield. You have to trust the people that come into your home to fix stuff and not charge you an arm and a leg. You don’t want them to keep coming back.

Home Shield has a series of companies that they call for service. But I'm having problems with trying to get to the right kind of technician. Last year, I had a problem with my oven and the tech they sent out didn't know what he was doing. They had to send somebody else and it was a very simple, easy problem. However, when I had an issue with my Sears washing machine, the guy that came over was a Sears technician. He was good and did quality repair work. But as soon he finished the washer, the next week, our dryer has gone bad. It was making a loud pitch noise. I called Home Shield and asked for somebody from Sears. They gave me some other company and I've had problems with this other company before. I couldn't even get ahold of them. I'd call and their answering machine was full. We had to call back to Home Shield. They got ahold of them and then got an appointment. They're supposed to come Friday.

I really liked Realty Rekey. He just came in and rekeyed five doors. It was quick. It was like 15 minutes. I asked him to do one key for all of them, and he did. He was really nice. I also used another service with American Home Shield. I had like a toilet issue and I put in an order. That was easy. But then, the next day, I had a heater issue, and I put it in order. Both jobs went to the same person. I just wish it had merged and I didn't have to pay $75 for each one. Even the work guy said, “You guys can call or do something.” It seems like I had two jobs. I had to pay $75 twice for the one person to come down. I think it was just the app didn't allow me to add to my plumbing job. If I had another type of service like a roof service, I wouldn’t merge it with the plumbing service. I could have merged them both but it wasn't obvious from the website. Other than that, I really like them so far. I liked that they have an extended roof protection. I put extra money for that.

Atlantis turned the AC unit on and then it went off. They turned it back on and it went on. It ran for a minute and then it went off. So they couldn't figure out the problem. We knew the unit was working because it came on, but for some reason, it couldn't stay on. So they checked the power, which should be 240 volts to run the unit. But we were only producing 203. So we were losing power somewhere. We have solar on our home and I was wondering if hooking up the solar had something to do with it. The owner of Atlantis called American Home Shield and let them know what was going on. Then American Home Shield called me and told me Jet Electric was going to come out on Sunday, which they did. They were here for 10 minutes and turned the unit on, set it where they told me to set it, and it came up to temperature. It ran just fine. Then it went off after it reached temperature. So they decided to leave.
I asked them if they found out where we were losing power. The tech said the unit's working, so it's getting power, and that there's no problem to fix if it's working. I understand the philosophy on that. But the fact remains that we lost from 240 to 203 volts on the power. I told him I wanted to know what might have happened. He said it was probably on PG&E's end. I said okay and then asked him if he checked the hookup from the solar. He told me again that it was probably PG&E. They couldn't get out of here fast enough, and I wasn't real happy with them. I would never have these guys come out again. But I've never had a complaint with American Home Shield. They have been great. They're right on things and they make sure it's done. I have recommended them to a lot of people. It is so worth it.
The guy from Atlantis called me and wanted to know what had happened with Jet Electric. So I told him and he said that doesn't solve the problem. We still have no idea why it didn't work. It has been working fine. My experience with Atlantis was great. They were very concerned and would call to find out how everything was going. They told me to contact them right away if there's any problem.

American Home Shield sent out Elite Electric Solutions to fix two ceiling fans. On the first ceiling fan, the light was flickering. And the second one, the motor for the fan was broken, and so it was grinding and struggling to spin the blades. I went to their website and filed the claim on there. It was good and easy to use. They said that the contractor would be reaching out directly. It was the next day I got a phone call from them. The techs were great, professional, came with COVID mask and put covers on their shoes and got the job done, so it was very good. The one with the light, they were able to fix with a new bulb. The one that was with the motor problem, they completely replaced the fan. Overall, having American Home Shield alleviates the stress of keeping up with the house and you feel a level of protection if anything goes wrong in the house and that you're in good hands to get anything fixed.

I've been with American Home Shield for years and it has been very helpful. I've always relied upon them. But lately, they've fallen apart. I prefer using the phone to submit a claim. I'm probably of an age where I just don't absolutely love doing things online. It's very frustrating sometimes if you can't get through and I don't find submitting the claim online as reliable as the phone. However, this time, I talked to somebody in the Philippines, which I haven't done before. I had the feeling that they didn't know what to do with me because I was having trouble with one of the people I was put on to fix something. Finally, I just dropped it and I went to the store myself and I was getting somebody to put it in. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. This has been awful and I've had it. When my time is up with them in March, I'm not going to go with them anymore. I would tell people to look for somebody else.

I tried to make an appointment online with American Home Shield because my heater was not working. It was not clear on the website how to schedule a heating because it gave you only a limited number of choices, but nothing for heater, only air conditioner. So, that was difficult. I ended up calling American Home Shield on the telephone in order to schedule the appointment. My heater went out right when the atmospheric river was happening here. We had a big rainstorm that took several days with non-stop rain.
Since my heating and air conditioning unit is on my rooftop, that affected when the contractor could come out. So, it took a couple days for them to come out, but they did. They showed up right on time. They gave me a timeframe of 8:00 to 10:00. It was wonderful. American Home Shield's website was useless in making my appointment for what I needed. Also, the policy is expensive. The deductible is high, too. You have to pay $100 a visit, and it has a lot of limitation disclosures on it too. But I would still recommend it.

I go online when filing claims and I find it very easy to do it self-service. I like the communication and the reminders when folks are coming. AHS texted. We had one situation with the wine fridge where we needed to order parts and they kept us in the loop the entire time. They got the parts in and scheduled the appointments. The guy that was sent out was terrific. The one that was a bit of a challenge was when we called in our garage door opener. The repairman felt very constrained on what he could do. He said the motor’s out and I needed to get a whole new unit. But that wasn't supported, only the parts. He had to come out three times on that. Whereas, if the repair person says it needs a new one, American Home Shield should just provide a new one. Then he kept trying to upsell me, which I was a little uncomfortable with as well.

We were having issues with the AC unit turning off and on and we were having an issue with Freon leaking from the system. When we made the call to AHS, they took it immediately and they assigned an agent. The tech came out within a reasonable period of time. The man that they sent was knowledgeable and very fair in his evaluation of what he found. The tech worked on both issues and everything was taken care of. So far, it's working great and living in Florida, that's what we needed. It's the first time we had worked with them, through American Home Shield, and it turned out nice.

I was having issues with my dishwasher, my microwave and my cooktop. Jack's Appliances was very efficient. They came out on time. They were very communicative and they were able to fix all of my appliances. The customer service at AHS was great as well. Everything was simple with their process.

The unit wasn’t cutting off and it ran for weeks at a time. We didn’t realize it until we got our electric bill because we don’t hear it run. When the manager from the electric company called us, he told us we needed to get somebody out to look at it because it seemed like it was a problem either with the thermostat or with the unit itself. And it was the unit itself. Shepherd’s Heating & Air was very thorough, prompt and handled the problem in one visit.

My shower was not warm enough and it kept getting cooler so I just assumed that something was wrong with it. I had my friend come over and look at it. He couldn't get the pilot light relit and there was water underneath. I called the home warranty for them to look at it and they were able to quickly identify what needed to be fixed with it, and then also get it replaced. I called it in Friday, and Saturday, they were out there fixing it so that was good. Everything was seamless. It worked exactly like I wanted it to and I was happy with it.

It was very easy to put in my service request with American Home Shield. It was very easy to navigate the little app and put that in the website. I did like that especially since this was my first time having warranty and dealing with this. My first experience with North Star was fine. My husband was the one that was here that day and he said they came in, did the repairs and got the boiler working that same day. We were very happy. We had heat for five days or so but now, we have a leak. I don't know if it kind of disrupted the whole system and we still don't have heat. I had to put in a separate request and they're coming but I have to wait another week.
They did a good job with the first time, but the issue's not resolved. There were a couple of boiler sections where the heat comes with the piping in the basement that we had replaced and someone had come in and put them in new. I don't know if they hadn't quite gotten sealed right. When we finally turned the thing on, that was when we realized that there was something going on there. It's in my basement so it took me a couple days to even notice that it was there. But I don't think this other separate issue had anything to do with their skill level in terms of not being able to do it right. We'll find out once they come back.
At the time, I had to work so my husband had to deal with the issue when I called the second time. It took them two or three days to even call me back. I kind of wondered what the process was and I didn't know if I needed to call American Home Shield. I kind of read that when you put in a service request, they assign a company to do the work. But I'm wondering at what point can we ask for a different company to come in 'cause we've scheduled out to February 11th but it's 25 degrees and there's snow outside now. I can't believe that they're the only boiler service in that whole area. I have a temporary gas heater in the house so I do have heat. We're not in a really bad situation but it was much nicer when the boiler was on.

Somebody referred and told me about American Home Shield and I signed up with them because I thought it would give me peace of mind. Recently, the heating unit was continuously running and making the house 80 degrees. No matter what I did, it wouldn't cut off. So, I made a claim with AHS and the process was pretty simple. Then, the techs came out and they said assessed it. They were fast and they said that the thermostat within the unit that tells it to shut off was broken. So, they had to go to get the part, then they came about an hour later and fixed it. That was a great experience and I didn’t have any issues. Everything seems to be fine now.

The contractor came out and looked at the refrigerator. It was a lot of parts that were needed and they said that they were going to put in for the parts. I didn't hear back from anyone for a week. When I called them, the person that answered the phone said they had put in for a replacement 'cause it was too much to fix it. From that point on, I contacted American Home Shield and they told me that it wouldn't be until the end of February before they could get the refrigerator. I didn't want to wait that long and I didn't have to either. They told me how much they were paying for the claim and I chose to get a Lowe's merchandise card. I purchased the refrigerator and I have the receipt here now which I gotta send over to their email address.
American Home Shield processed the claim really well. The only thing was they didn't contact me, I had to contact them. But that wasn't a big thing. It was past a week since they had come out and I didn't have a problem with them handling. They handled the claim in a real expeditious way. One time they called me, they put through for the merchandise card or I could do it the same way I did with my washing machine when it broke down. You have to purchase it then send them the receipt. Whatever the price was, they were going to pay for it. But this time, it was even better because they processed a merchandise card electronically and all I had to do was print it off and take it to Lowe's. That was good. They really stepped it up this time.

The last claim I had was for my garage. I paid my deductible, but I ended up having to pay an additional $400 to get my garage door fixed, which was kind of bizarre. But I went with the technician's advice and got it fixed and paid the additional $400. He was very professional when I was speaking to him. So far, so good. I'm okay with the service, so far.
When I had a clog in my sink, my daughter was home when the guy came out, but he couldn't get the clog fixed. He said it'd have to be an additional $350 for the airtight drain snake. I told him never mind because I already paid the deductible. Then I had a shower issue and the second company came out. They were able to fix it without charging me $300 for a larger snake. Everything was fine.

When we were having problems with our air conditioner, it took about four weeks to get it fixed because they couldn't find a coil. The air conditioner was 16 years old. But our experience with AHS has been fairly simple and easy. When we have a problem, we call them, and then they get back with us. If we haven't heard from the provider that they have recommended, then we call them ourselves.

I submitted a claim with AHS because the garage door was stuck open and I couldn't get it to close. When you push the button, it would just go click, click, click, and it wouldn't do anything. Smokey's came out and he fixed it. He was good. I liked who we got. I've had issues with other claims, but this claim was good.

My light switch was shorting out in the garage, then it completely broke to the point where I couldn't turn it at all and I couldn't flip it. I called AHS and their claims process was pretty easy. They told me to expect the contractor within 24 to 48 hours at the most and I was very happy with the entire process. The light switch has also been working perfectly since the repair.

The refrigerator was freezing all of the food. The guy came out four times and it was one problem after another. Then, he said he misdiagnosed, and he didn't know what was wrong. The last time he came out, he said all I had to do was turn off the icemaker and not have it make any ice and the refrigerator will work fine. I asked him why would I not want that on if I live in the high desert, it's hotter than hell, and in the summertime, I need ice. He said I just have to buy myself some ice and he left. I called in American Home Shield and I put a request in for a second opinion. That guy came out and he'd ordered a part for it. He said there was something wrong with the icemaker part of it, or the vent. We'll see when he gets the part in whether or not it gets fixed.
The first guys that came were all from Sears and they were just not interested in doing a decent job. They didn't know what they were doing, because even the one that came to fix the dishwasher, still never fixed it and never came back with a part. So, the second opinion guy is the one that's going to fix the dishwasher. He ordered a part for it as well.
I have a property in Los Angeles and the sewer pipe there was plugged up. Accent Plumbing is in the neighborhood and for years, I've been calling on them and requesting that they come out because those guys work faster than quick, and they always get the job done. We couldn't get anybody from them to come up that time, they were all backed up. It was also on the weekend, so we were stuck because no toilet was working. We got a plumber to come out and paid him $240 to unclog it. He said it was going to be fine, but it didn't, it plugged up again. He then came out with a camera and told my grandson there that we needed a great big machine that costs $700 that he could bring in to unplug it, because each time he'd use the snake, it would just poke a little hole in the stoppage. Then once toilet paper and everything starts going through, it plugs up again.
My grandson called and told me and my son about it. I tried American Home Shield again to see if Accent Plumbing could finally come out. The guy came out the next day, and sure enough, he unplugged the whole thing. He went in there with a camera, he didn't just poke a hole in the stoppage. Overall, American Home Shield is great. It’s just the people that they call.

Class A Service was good. They were professional and they knew what they were doing. They cleaned up after themselves. They were prompt and they did their job. It was easy to submit my claim online but I like to try and do it on the phone. With the verbal request, I can add input. Whereas online, it's kind of hard to supply exactly what we're needing done. But overall, I like American Home Shield's services.

We had plugs that were bad and there was a plug that went bad. The guy fixed that and he found there was something wrong with the box. He was a good electrician. He did an outstanding job. He was very pleasant and professional. However, American Home Shield did not replace a like item on my other issue. I paid almost $380 for my faucet and they just replaced it with a $69 one.
The company that went to show up gave me pictures of almost the exact same thing I had and they gave me the serial number. I looked the faucet up and they were comparable. But when they came out to my house, they brought something totally different and I was not too happy about that. It was smaller and it didn't do the things I needed it to do. To me, that was bait and switch. I almost went through the district attorney on it because I was very upset about how AHS handled that. I had all the documentation because they sent it to me. I'm no longer with them. I found some places that are much better.

I've not always been pleased with the service we've received from American Home Shield. We mostly had plumbing type of issues. Sometimes when the contractor has come out, they seemed kind of distracted and they've had to come back a couple of times in a previous incident where if they had been paying more attention, they probably would have got it with one visit. That was my poor experience with American Home Shield. When their contractor comes out, you're paying $150 for a service call so sometimes, it seems overpriced. But if you have a significant problem, American Home Shield is worthwhile. A neighbor of ours had a whole floor ruined for a water leak and they fixed all of it. In a case like that, American Home Shield is very effective. Overall, we're satisfied with them. Recently, the water heater was not heating the water sufficiently. When the contractor came out, they removed a regulator on the hot water heater and that fixed the problem. We're satisfied with the service we received.

The tech was great and he fixed my refrigerator but I didn’t get a resolution from him. He didn't say anything when he left. I was on a quick five-minute work phone call so maybe he didn't know how long it was going to take me. But it was strange that nobody followed up with me so, I had to call them to follow up. I also had to call American Home Shield to see where we were at. It wouldn't have been an issue with the refrigerator but with the dishwasher, I had to ask AHS if they've agreed with whatever company that they couldn't find the part and that I could get a new one. I called twice and the reps were both impressive but I had to reach out. Still, I would recommend AHS especially because I'm getting a new dishwasher.

It's easier to call in a claim with American Home Shield. The repair guy who came out for our drywall claim was great. He looked at it, examined the situation, went out to his truck. He came back and did the repair and he was done. My experience has been pretty good and we’re staying with American Home Shield.

I asked for Big Al's Appliance repair because I had problems with repeated calls to fix the same stuff. I don't want to be paying $100 every time because my next wasn't within the 30-day recall period for the previous call. Big Al's ordered the part needed for the issue at my rental and then sent me a message. Then they sent me a message again that they were going to schedule the service when the part came in. My tenant said everything was fine and it looks like the issue is fixed. But, if the problem with repeated calls happens again, I'm going to cancel my contract.

There were two calls - one for the dishwasher and another for the garbage disposal. The guy was pleasant but they were saying they couldn't fix the garbage disposal and recommended kind of running vinegar through it.

The drain system didn't want to drain out in the bathroom. The tech came and cleared it out. I've never had a problem with AHS. I trust them. Anytime I’ve called them with a question, they’ve always answered it for me and took care of it.

I had the request for appliances repair. Active Appliance came and then it took a couple of weeks because they said they had to order a part. They fixed both the stove and refrigerator. The stove is working. But the refrigerator was not really corrected, so I had to call back and ask for another visit. The freezer was making ice inside. Somehow on the wall and the bottom shelf, it builds up ice. They came out and said they fixed it. But now that it's about two weeks past, I have noticed it's building up again. So I called American Home Shield and I requested another visit. They sent me automatic email that the contractor was assigned, and most probably, it's the same contractor who came first time, but I haven't received any calls from them.
I mostly call American Home Shield when I have a claim because the website is not that flexible. You cannot explain on there and it's hard to communicate. I have been their member for a long time and Active Appliance was good overall because at least they were responsive and they tried. But sometimes, I was not that always happy with the contractors. Some contractors come and just brush you, and then they want to do their job on the surface. They don't pay attention. But reaching to them now is better, because this time, when I call the tech, it took about 15 minutes. I have had a situation where I was on the line for one and half hours and then got disconnected.
I pay American Home Shield about 650 a year and then they have raised the service call to 100. So with one or two calls a year, you can take care of that money. If you call someone to come, they'll come within couple of days, not within two weeks. Fortunately, in this recent situation, it was not that urgent because I had another refrigerator. With the stove, two of the burners were not working but the other two were working. So I had means of cooking. But if I didn't, and if all was not working, I couldn't really wait two weeks to get a service. So I'm thinking I may drop them next year.

When I first had made the order to American Home Shield for service, the tech didn't show up. He said he was gonna call me back and he never did. Then, someone else was sent and he did a good job. I also did a claim when I was having a problem with my stove. I was going through a whole lot with my stove. It was so hard to get in touch with American Home Shield. I was on the phone for so long. Even though that happened, I know the virus was going on at the time I was trying to get them on the phone.

The garage door wouldn't go up and down. The spring had busted and I called American Home Shield. They sent me a message and said that Smokey's Garage Door would be contacting me to set up an appointment for the repair and they gave me the number if I wanted to call them. The fellow came out as scheduled. He had external springs on the truck and it's the internal spring that I had. So, they had to order to get the right kind of spring. It took them a couple of tries before they got the right part but it wasn’t a problem. They have done a good job. AHS provided good service and I have no complaints.

The water heater was eroding and it rusted. I was not aware until the technician came to install my heat and he brought it to my attention. Royal Plumbing came and was excellent. The guy took pictures of the pipes and had knowledge of what he was doing. He explained to me what caused the problem. I was very pleased.
