    Our home is a bit older and we have galvanized pipes. We had a pinhole leak in one of the pipes. So SAP Services came in and made a repair to stop the leak. They were able to come out and make the fix in less than 24 hours. We've had American Home Shield for a couple of years and the claim submission is fairly easy to do.

    I called American Home Shield one morning and called the next night. One was for my faucet, and the other one was for my water heater. The faucet only had some particles in it. The plumber just did that and then he went and fixed my water heater. There's one thing I was a little disgruntled about with that last visit though. The plumber did both on the same trip, but I was charged 250 (125 each). I complained and asked to speak to a supervisor, but they said no, that they had to charge me. It was the work order, but they were not willing to make that one trip and I had issues with that.

    If the plumber made two separate trips, I would expect two separate service calls. American Home Shield also didn't send somebody else. They sent the same person. Other than that, the plumber who came was was very polite and clean. When he came in and put on his booties, gloves and mask, I was more than elated. I really appreciate him doing that and I would highly recommend him. If I didn't have American Home Shield and I personally needed a plumber, I will call him. However, I have American Home Shield and I've been pleased with them. I'll continue to keep them.

    The most recent claim with American Home Shield was put in my heating unit. My heater was not working. Climate Master came out. The tech discovered that I needed an electrical person to come out. So, they issued that. But the problem is still not fixed since Monday. I've been calling around yesterday and today, and I still have to wait for someone to come out and fix my unit.

    Eco Air came out promptly and looked at our unit. We had to wait about a week without heat because they had to order a part for our heat pump. We wish we had a little more contact with the contractor between the time they came out the first time and ordered the part. It was a week and a half, and we didn’t have any contact with them. That made us nervous, but we had an okay experience. On the other hand, we've got a current claim with American Home Shield for a plumbing issue and we’re having significant problems with them right now.

    Our water heater isn’t working. I’ve got a large family, and we haven’t had hot water for over a week. Every time I call AHS, they give me excuses about they can’t get a contractor out. When I talked to them last night, they said that I can get a contractor, but they gave me this giant list of contractors that I’m not allowed to use. The contractor that I contacted said that they won’t work with American Home Shield because they’ve been done wrong by them. I live in a small town, and I can't get a contractor out to take care of it.

    American Home Shield refuses to move forward with my claim too. I was hoping I could buy a water heater from Lowe's, and they would reimburse me, but apparently, that would violate my contract with them. We've already paid the $80 service charge to have the contractor come out. So, they’ve taken my money, but they’re not doing anything about getting us hot water, which is upsetting. Our current experience has been gnarly. If I could, I’d leave AHS. I wouldn't use them if I had the choice now. If I knew what I was gonna go through now, I would use somebody else.

    I've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years and they have improved a lot, especially in the service calls. They respond right away now and the people who have come out are really good. I have nine houses with American Home Shield. I have one problem with one of the houses. We had a service guy come out and he did a very good job on all of them, except on one house. He quoted the wrong amount. It was 300 something and then it was 572. It's a small house with two-bedroom and one bath. Other than that, I'd recommend American Home Shield than the other companies.

    There was a leak from the shower down into the garage. I did the claim online through AHS' application and it could be a little more detailed. I don't know how they do their stuff internally but if they could give a little option to fill in what your specific concern is, that would be good. There could be a space to give a little bit more information of what the issue is.

    They sent me an email to let me know when they were on their way. They also sent me several emails: one - when one’s been assigned, two - when the appointment’s been scheduled, and 3 - when the plumber was on his way. I had three different contractors come out and Plumbers, Inc. which was the last one was the only one that fixed the problem so they did their job. They fixed the washer that was installed upside down and the overflow valve for the bathtub. However, I still need to have the drywall done. The plumber had to cut into the ceiling of the garage and that has not been repaired yet. It's hard to get through to AHS on the phone because you got to jump through a million different voice prompts. If they have something like a chat on their website where you could communicate with them easier, that would be good too.

    I would not recommend AHS. They don't follow up. The plumbing claim was fine, but I had an issue for a year and a half with my refrigerator. I spent at least 48 hours trying to call them on hold and talking to people. It was awful. The fridge got replaced, but it was not an easy process.

    The heater repair went very well. The technician was very knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. It took a while to get the new heater in. They had to find one that matched the specifications. But the time between them showing up at the door, and them leaving was about three hours. We’ve used American Home Shield for a couple of years now and it has definitely paid for itself over the years. Their website is pretty good and intuitive.

    Having American Home Shield, I can call and get someone to come out and fix something. I don't really know if the price every single month is worth it in comparison to what I would pay with just the repair but it saves some of the middleman work. When my water heater wasn't working, techs came out and they were good. They were really helpful, quick, clean, nice, and right on time. They replaced the part on it. It's not working fully anymore though. There may still be an issue with the water heater. I would like to get in touch with the repair company again and see if they can come out and take another look at this.

    We had a faucet leak in one of the bathrooms and I had the part to repair it because I had repaired something else and I had an extra one. And then, our faucet in the kitchen had a leak, but it was a Moen faucet, so they sent me the repair, but I didn't want to do it. I had all the parts for stuff. And we had one other toilet that was hard to flush and the repairman said it was just a washer. He was in here, repaired all three things, in 10 minutes and no charge. He was terrific. He responded quickly, he was here, in and out, and everything works great. I have some other plumbing issues now. We're getting ready to sell our house. There were a couple of things that popped up and we need to have them fixed, so I'm going put an order in today for American Home Shield. Also, we're going to put AHS on the new house. We've been pleased.

    We have had coverage with AHS for 10 years and they have come through. It's always a function of who they send out. But with HVAC, plumbing and electrical, it has been good. The only issue was we had four different guys come out to repair a motor in a Jacuzzi bathtub and it ended up being a simpler fix than what it was. We were pretty displeased with that. But in the end, it got repaired. It's just that there were some follow-up things that had to be done and it was time-consuming. We have a 40-year old Maytag dryer that they fixed a few times and different things and it still hums along. Refrigerator, a couple of times on a Bosch dishwasher.

    When we were looking at this North Carolina move, my Realtor suggested somebody else, but they were on the worst on any list of the best or worst. There were a number of not so good things. And then, on the best, when I looked at somebody else other than AHS, their rates were good. What it cost to come out was better. However, they didn't cover everything.

    So when we added other things in that are covered as part of AHS, it would be more expensive or we would get that, "Oh, I'm sorry, we don't cover that." We have never been turned down with AHS on anything, and we pretty much know what's covered or not. Make sure you know what's covered and not, and know what the cost of coming out is, and look and see, "Do they get good marks in terms of coming out and finishing the job?" In 95% of the time, AHS has delivered.

    All things considered, if it's just the appliance side, is there good value in that? I don't know. If we're paying 65 a month. But we have the combo thing, it really pays off when you have a major repair. Like in our case, in 2019, we had to have a furnace replaced, and either that same year or year before that, we had to have a compressor on the other unit replaced. That's a big expense if you've ever had that done, and that more than covers the things that we have to have had done. But it adds up. We had a disposal replaced last year. Not a lot of money, but it's 300 bucks and we still had to pay the fee for them to do that. And the other key thing too is to make sure you lump stuff together.

    On this case, we knew we had a leak, but we had three other issues. So, you don't pay three times 125 bucks, you pay 125 bucks and they do all three things. We've got another couple of things like that. And if you can group things together under the same thing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, whatever, then there's some benefit to that. And they do some other things. There's an additional charge, but they will come out and hook up all your TVs and mount them and do stuff like that for a fee, as opposed to having to call the Geek Squad.

    We're in a house that's 25 years old, so we didn't do it right away. But we're going to move into a house that's 13 years old. We requested that the sellers pay for the first, which they are going to do. That's a good deal for us. Hopefully, if there's anything that's wrong with anything, that will catch and I would expect we'll continue that. It's good insurance.

    My heat wasn't getting hot so I called American Home Shield. They always tell us to expect the tech between 24 and 48 hours. I called early Monday morning and the tech called me back the same day and came right out. He said he wasn't that far from my house. He could be here between the hours of 11:00 and 2:00. He checked everything on my heater. He checked to see if the filter was incorrect, if it was dirty. He also told me that it needed to be cleaned out and relit. He checked it twice. He waited until it got really hot and clicked on.

    Now, it’s getting hotter since he came out and cleaned it. He also was telling me that the heat and the air should be maintained every year to get cleaned. I had an excellent experience with him. He was really nice and knowledgeable. He was talking to me and my son, explaining things to us. I would definitely tell others to go with American Home Shield. I had them since I bought my home and everything has been really good. That's why I'm keeping them.

    K & S Plumbing is supposed to come to my house tomorrow to fix their problem because the guy that they originally sent out did not change the part out. I know he didn't change it out because on the hot water heater, you have a pressure release valve, and it is dripping water. The first time the guy came out, my wife told me he was only there about 15 minutes. I used to be a maintenance supervisor for a residential group home facility and there is no way you can change a pressure release valve out in 15 minutes. Because the first thing you have to do, you have to cut off the water going into the hot water heater. Then you have to drain the hot water heater down below the pressure release valve before you take the pressure release valve off. That takes at least 20 to 30 minutes by itself before you can ever get to the process of taking the pressure relief valve off.

    K & S is sending another technician out because the last technician they sent out the second time reeked of alcohol. I told them that I didn't want him back at my house, which was the same one they sent out the first time that didn't change it at all. The claims process is good, except for when people come out and don't do what they're supposed to do. The only problem I ever had is the problem with K & S Plumbing that I just had. Other than that, American Home Shield has been fine.

    American Home Shield is really good. When we replaced the washing machine, we had no problems with them. The problem was only with the delayed stuff. Our washer was making a loud noise when it went on the spin cycle. We called them and told them about it and they said they’d send someone out to look at it. Sears came out and they said the washer was bad. They said I had to get another one so I looked online. The one I wanted to order was no longer in stock so I had to choose a different washer. I picked out a washer and it was delayed because they didn't have the washer in stock yet. It was delayed twice and we had to wait a while. But the people that came out to install it did an excellent job.

    However, I was dissatisfied with the dryer issue. When it wasn’t working, the guy got it working again. He put a new monitor but it wasn't heating up properly after that. So we called and we had three different companies come out for that and they said everything was fine. But there are times where we dry it and sometimes it comes out damp. But the brand-new washing machine works very well.

    Everything was fine when Wicker Installation came out. It was very difficult to get a response back but I attribute that to the inclement weather that we were having. They took care of the issue, which was a shower that would not stop running and a sink that was having problems in the master bathrooms.

    A tech showed my husband the part and said it would cost $25 but he would have to charge 250 to put it on. He said the service wasn't covered in my Home Shield plan. That wasn't great. We went down to Home Depot and the part was on the shelf. We called somebody and they came and put the part on for us. We fixed this issue. This was the only time I used Home Shield and I was so mad that I was going to cancel it. Both my daughters have the home warranty. They said to give it some time and see how that goes. I told a lot of people about Home Shield before I ever used it. I told them my daughter used it and that has done a good job for her. She recommended it.

    Another thing with Home Shield is I've had them for about one year now and I never got a booklet nor the details of what the warranty covers and what it doesn't cover, for example in a plumbing situation or when I get my air conditioning unit service. I'm going to call Home Shield to service it. When I have a claim, I just dial the number on the Home Shield card. I asked them if there is a pamphlet that they can send me to detail what I'm getting done instead of being told, "No, that's not covered." They said they were gonna send me one but I never got anything.

    My refrigerator's drawers were broken. Getting a contractor out through American Home Shield was a pain in the butt. I called them and it took forever. I was put on hold and then they called me back in an hour and a half. It's a horrible process. A lot of people go online but I don't remember my new contract number. I had AHS in my old house so I only remember my old one. Other than that, AHS has been wonderful about giving me an expectation as to when to expect their contractors. Majestic Appliances came for my refrigerator claim and they were amazing. There was a contractor before that was sketchy but Majestic has been very competent.

    AHS should check who their contractors are. Also, they need to use people in the US. Most of the people whom I've talked to are outsourced and there's a language barrier. There are other warranty companies that I've used in the past. Out of all of them, American Home Shield is the most reliable and the most efficient.

    I had two service calls. The first one was a plumbing one that just went horribly wrong. That was through a plumbing company in San Antonio that tried to rip me off and just told lies to American Home Shield. Told them what AHS wanted to hear. They refused the claim and gave me a ridiculously high bid to get it done, which was $1,300. I eventually called a local plumber that I could get. Got the whole thing done for $157. But Safari took care of that, refunded me my money, and made sure that ASAP Plumbing refunded me the half that I paid up front. She followed through with everything, all the way. She was very professional and nice to deal with. I was furious when I called and she was very kind.

    But then going through Quantum, which was the furnace repair, I was very happy with them. They were very good. They came out as soon as they could. It took a few days. We had a horrible ice storm here. My electricity went out, and the roads were blocked because of the ice and the snow. So they came out the Saturday before and that was the earliest they could get out. My electricity only just came on that Friday anyway, so it was fine. But they handled it, there was no repair that needed to be done. Because of the ice storm, it just knocked the igniter out. And it just had to be manually fired up to get it going again.

    I have to call in another claim. It's a plumbing waistline that is leaking. And I'm trying to decide whether it's worth my while to call it in or just get my plumber in to fix it. Because it's probably going to cost $200 to get it done. And it's probably not worth the hassle to go through AHS. First of all, it’s calling the plumber that would be assigned. Calling the other plumber that they originally assigned me, talking to him about it, sending him photographs, and asking him what he thinks. And then, calling it into AHS and see if I can do it that way. I used Old Republic prior to using AHS, and Old Republic allowed me to do that. They’re the ones that taught me, “Go through it backwards and see if it'll be beneficial to you. And if it will be, then putting the claim the way you would normally do it.” They were always very easy to work with because of that. And their deductible is a lot less than AHS.

    AHS tends to be difficult to work with. However, Quantum air condition, the people that came out to repair my furnace, had very good things to say about them. And I had very good things to say about Quantum. The tech was very kind and professional. So, I don't know if I should give this one more shot and go through the frustration of dealing with AHS, or just bite the bullet and take care of it myself.

    My dishwasher was stopping then it wasn't draining. My icemaker was going out too. The next day, service people came out on time. We had snow and we didn't have electricity for four days. When the service people finally came on, the pipe burst in my laundry room. They said that they don't repair busted pipes so I would have to pay for the plumber myself. American Home Shield should reconsider that if the issue was due to weather, they should consider the emergency part of it. Other than that, I've been really satisfied with American Home Shield. Ever since was the service people came out, I haven't had any issues with anything. Everything was done properly and I didn't have anything to worry about.

    I had American Home Shield when I first purchased my home. When it came time to renew, I went with a warranty company that was cheaper and that was a big mistake. They didn't cover anything and I was out about $6,000, which was way more than I would have been out of with American Home Shield. The warranty company I went to didn't cover anything. People should be aware of what the coverages are with home warranties and how much your out-of-pocket is going to be. For my air conditioning unit, only bits and pieces of it were covered. I was still out of almost $2,000 and only 800 was given to me.

    Every time I put in a request to American Home Shield, no matter what it is and whether it is small or big, there is a flat charge. It's effectively a deductible but it's not like I can make a request, figure out what the cost is and then figure out if I want to go forward. I have to make a request to get in touch with these people to notify them of an issue that is under warranty and I have to pay the charge. It pisses me off and if I had known about that, I might have gone with a different warranty provider. Other than that, the service has been great. Usually, the contractors that they assign to fix things are good but there's no flexibility on the request order and you can't get in touch with anyone until you make a request order. So, it's very frustrating. It creates tension in the relationship.

    We had one of our heat pumps go out during the surges of the storm. The contractor came and troubleshot the issue. They discovered what was wrong in really quick order, and replaced it. Everything was done under an hour. They did a great job. It's very easy to get through American Home Shield. They have their website set up, so if you don't know your account number, you can put in your address, and it will pull up your account for you. It's very user-friendly. American Home Shield is one of the easiest home warranties I've ever used. We like them and we keep it on our own DIME mail.

    I had three repairs done after the storm because of the surges that created an issue with our dishwasher, and we had a ceiling fan and heat pump go out. So I had three different calls and separate charges, but each issue was resolved relatively quickly and professionally. The technicians gave us a heads up who was coming. They kept us on track with when they would be here. They were always here when they said they would be. All the technicians wore their protective gear. They were polite and efficient.     Everything went smooth with submitting the claim. American Home Shield itself was good in terms of sending out somebody to get to the root of the problem. But I don't like the process that happened as it took me to get to Airsmith Pro because Western Heating and Air couldn't get the problem together. I sent a report to their tech to know, “Hey, this is what you missed.” So, the next time they go to somebody else's house, it won't be the same inconvenience. They can learn from their experience. I had to call several times before a company finally came out there and figured out what was the issue. Airsmith Pro got to the root of what was going on.     The furnace people came out and sent a tech, who was a very nice guy. He came back out twice and the second time he came to check on it, it was still not working. He said it wasn't an HVAC problem and we have to set up an appointment with an electrician. I went back and I made an appointment with an electrician to come out. The electrician came in and he said that there's no problem with the wiring. The wiring from our thermostat all the way down to our furnace are intact and working fine.

    Then, I went into labor so I had no time to figure it out. At that point, they were referring me to another HVAC company. But I stopped dealing with it because I live in Minnesota where we've had three weeks of sub-zero weather and I have a newborn and two kids in the house. It was more of a hassle than anything else. I got a loan and I got a new furnace. I ended up buying a whole unit myself out of pocket.

    I’ve done a few different jobs via American Home Shield, and it's always done pretty well. You file the notice on their website, and they find a guy. The guy contacts you usually within 24 hours to set up a date. As far as the plumbing repair, the techs came out, they assessed it and took pictures. It did take a little while, they said, for them to get the parts that I needed, because it was kind of a weird cartridge in the faucet. It was discontinued. They did get it and then they scheduled the service the day after they said they got it. They came back, and it worked out pretty well. They were really knowledgeable.

    I've had a very good experience with AHS. However, I asked to have R&R Refrigeration to come but they sent Hochstatter, which was fine. Other than that, Hochstatter examined it and said the machine was operating as it should. I thought it was far too noisy and the bearings were going out of it.

    I have a gas heater in the attic and every time the techs come, they get it to work. But, there's a thermostat on that heater and once it gets to that temperature, then it clicks off. When the temperature drops again, it clicks back on and no heat comes out. The recent appointment was the fourth time they have been out to service my heater. There were some parts that the tech is going to order to try to correct the issue. He took some photos as well. He's looking at coming back out on Monday or Tuesday of next week to see if he can fix the problem. American Home Shield has been consistent and the technicians they have sent have been good people who know what they are doing.

    We had an issue with the thermostat recently. The tech had to go into the furnace 'cause it wasn't coming on. There was a part in there that he fixed. It was making a very loud noise when it came on. He had to do an adjustment on the inside of tightening some stuff so that it wasn't rattling when it came on. He got that fixed for us also. I've asked him several things. This one has a different type of filter than we've ever had before and he answered all my questions on not only what kind of filter but how often I needed to replace it. The tech was really good, very professional and very helpful.

    We had an issue when we first moved in with water backing up in our basement. We used the people that AHS recommended. They did a great job. But we had a 10,500 bill and AHS only covered 2,000 of it. So I have a very hard time recommending AHS. 'Cause I've had home warranties before and I've had very good luck. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with a claim. The people that have done the work, I would recommend. I just don't know if I would recommend American Home Shield.

    I have had a great experience with American Home Shield. I put in a claim for our air conditioner and it was a heat pump. They are a little bit hard to work on and Comfort King is the only one in the last 20 years that knows how do that so I’m glad that AHS has them. Without Comfort King, people would come out and do it backwards. They got everything repaired. Whenever I call AHS, they are right on it. I’m usually calling from work and I don't know my service number. They are good and quick about looking it up for me. Another thing I like is that they put on there for the contractor to call me before they come. I'm only three blocks from my house but that gives me time to go home and not lose all my work. They don't put me on a one-to-five list.

    Aladdin's Plumbing came out and checked the garbage disposal for us, which ended up not being broken. The garbage disposal was making a loud noise. We thought it had something stuck in it. Then they fixed the toilet. A gasket had come off and I didn’t know how to replace it. They put a new one on, and then they put a new handle on. The service was pretty nice. The techs were friendly. They seem to be knowledgeable and efficient. American Home Shield works fine. They respond to your request in a timely manner.

    The tech from Holland Plumbing came out for the shower that was dripping, the tub faucet that was not turning correctly and leaking, and a leak under the sink in the kitchen. He was great and he repaired all three. He was professional, very kind, and he did the work quickly. He also had a mask and gloves on when he came in and he got everything taken care of. I would highly recommend him.

    The last lady that I had with AHS was freaking phenomenal, too. But I had to get through to the loyalty department to get to that point because the customer service now for American Home Shield sucks. The overseas communication that’s now coming in is horrible and it takes you a while to try to get to somebody in the state that understand. They were not supposed to charge me a certain amount of money, but they’ve charged it every month. I've called in then I've been passed around several times. I've called multiple times, left messages, and people said that they were going to escalate it, and get back with me. But no one ever did that, until I finally got this young lady who went on and took care of my service call for me. She gave me peace.

    All in all, I was glad to have my stuff fixed but customer service-wise, all the stuff I had to do just to get through to the last lady who helped me, my experience with AHS overall was very substandard. Also, I had a plumbing team to come out before that did not fix and finish the job. Their company was called Prime Plumbing and American Home Shield sent them out. It ended up being a really bad experience and we did not want them to come back because it was a mess. I reached out to American Home Shield to try to rectify that problem, but I couldn't get through and could not get anybody to help me.

    So, I sat down and wrote a letter by hand and mailed it to the corporate office of American Home Shield. I did not get a response back from that letter until months later. And when I finally got an email from somebody who said that they were trying to see if I still had a problem, I responded back to them immediately, but I never heard anything else. I tried to reach back and I called the corporate office’s phone number multiple times. But somebody there said that she closed the case because she couldn't get in touch with me. So, even from the corporate level, my experience with their customer service was a negative. The problem is happening from the head on down and it wasn't always like that.

    We've mostly had a positive experience with AHS, but there was an issue that took a really long time to resolve. It was the first claim we put in with them. Our refrigerator was not working. It turned out that the fridge was from the '70s and it just didn't work. They were ultimately not able to replace it. But there was a lot of confusion on their side as far as how long it would take to do a part search. Then when they did a part search, they sent out a part that looked like they had pulled it out of a junkyard. The repair technician was like, "This is just not going to work. I'll try it." But when he put it in, the fridge completely died. It was a little bit difficult to get them to agree to replace the fridge.

    So, we were without a working fridge for over a month, so that part was not so good. Other than that, we've had them out for a few other claims. The house that we purchased had not been lived in for almost a year and so, there were quite a few issues. The majority of the issues have been easy to repair and very quick for them to take care of. But when it comes to something that clearly is not working that needs to be replaced, they're very reluctant to replace it. I understand that that's an expense, but it was a little frustrating working with them through that process.

The tech came out and researched what he could and discovered there's a part needed and turned that back over to AHS.     There’s a pot filler in my kitchen that the plumber wasn't able to get a replacement part for but he sort of made it work. It's not leaking. It's not perfect like it was but everything else that he did was fine and the repairs were done. On another claim, I'm waiting for a callback from American Home Shield so someone would come back to complete the repair on the garage door. This is the first time I’ve ever had American Home Shield and so far, it's working okay. They're just a little slow when things don't go exactly the way they should. Just like this garage door, I haven't heard back from anybody in reference to them sending another company out. If everything goes smooth, it's fine. But if there's a little bit of glitch, it seems like there's a lot of internal paperwork that happens which delays the repairs.

    I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and they sent Absolute Comfort and Heating out. Other than the fact that frequently AHS's phone is busy and you’ll have to call several times, I didn't have any problems. Absolute Comfort and Heating also provided very prompt service. They were very professional. We had a fan in the furnace that had gone nuts. They tried to resecure the same fan. But it didn’t work. It sounded like a threshing machine going off. So they had to come back and install a new fan to get everything to work properly. They ordered it, came back and installed it, and it’s working fine now.

    However, this summer we had no air conditioning for over a month when it was 101 to 104 degrees. They had ordered a compressor but it didn't work. I finally got the regional manager involved. The dryer broke too and I was out without a dryer for over a month. They could never get parts for Maytag. So they finally settled with me to buy a new dryer.

    I had one experience with American Home Shield and they had my AC fixed, but there were some delays. I told them it was so cold here. I have electrical heating with the AC system. I don't have gas. They had ordered originally the parts as normal. There was a fan motor which was burnt out, and they said the contractor will replace it. When I called them, they didn't seem to be really nice and understand my emergency situation because it was very cold, it's freezing temperature, and I didn't have the AC on and we don't have gas here.

    They later on expedited it and the fan motor was installed after 10 days. The contractor just has to depend on American Home Shield, how they expedite and order the parts. So, they came in and replaced it. It was not a very bad experience, but sometimes these people don't understand the situation of the customer because they're trying to save money by not putting extra money for expediting. I got it done eventually. The system was back and the house was warm enough again.

    I joined this company because somebody referred it to me and it was my first experience and first call for a repair. I had never called them before. They're not super good to take care of customers right away. They don't understand emergencies unless you are really hard with them. Maybe they don't trust us. They don't trust the customer. Maybe some people have taken advantage of them. Maybe they understood it late. I was not very happy with their initial response because when I called, they didn't seem to understand emergency and they did not seem to care much.

    The furnace was turning on and off downstairs. About six months ago, we had the same issue with the upstairs unit, and it turned out that the issue was like a circuit breaker. The same thing was happening downstairs. The technician from Tempal came out and went upstairs to look at the unit. He said the door wasn't put on right. So it turned out that the technician who came out six months ago put the door on backwards and he didn't shut it right and he tried to tape the switch close. He was in a rush and even left his tools there. When the technician from Tempal got the door taken back off, he saw that the switch that was in there was taped, and that the tape came loose, so the door wasn't hitting the switch and it wasn't allowing the furnace to come on. So it was a really quick and easy fix. He was very courteous. He wasn't rude and he didn't talk down on us. It was a really good experience. I'm pretty satisfied.

    It was a great experience when Air Doctor came out. I received a couple of different quotes and then realized, "Oh my gosh, I have a home warranty." ‘Cause I haven’t used it, I forgot. I called AHS up. They sent the guy out the next day, which was awesome. He saved us thousands of dollars based on the other AC companies that came out before him. So we were very thrilled.

    When I submitted the claim, it was fine. The rep asked me some questions that I really didn't have answers to, 'cause I was driving. They tried to be thorough. They were trying to get exactly the right technician or what we need out. But I don't know how to answer some of the questions. They should have simpler questions for those of us that aren't in AC or construction. Also, some people don't understand that when they come out, there is a service fee. It was $75 and now it's $100. It's good to educate consumers on exactly what happens.

    I had an issue with my AC. In the beginning, I had to call a couple of times. We were out of the heater and the air for 3, 4 days. The technicians came at beginning of last week, Monday or Tuesday. This has been going on for almost three, four weeks. The technicians said they needed a part. In a couple of days, they came to put a part on but that didn't work. I had to call the American Shield again to make an appointment. I wasn't really happy about the first two weeks.     AHS has been really good at getting folks out. Recently, my heat in the house was very uneven. It was really hot upstairs and really cold downstairs. The tech helped me balance that out but what he did was just open the dampers. He felt that there wasn't anything that could be done unless I got a new unit. What he did has helped a little bit. But, it's still markedly cold downstairs compared to upstairs.

    Reaching out to AHS is a hit-and-miss. I've gotten some great people. I've also gotten some people that have not been great at helping me get situated. The last time, I had a leaking pipe under the house. I called and they said somebody would get ahold of me within 24 to 48 hours. I told them that I needed somebody to get ahold of me ASAP. So, sometimes when I call for an emergency type thing, I can't get the service and that's my only complaint. And so then, I'm just like, do I pay for this out of pocket or do I wait for it to be covered under warranty? Thankfully, my utility company came out and turned off the water 'cause I couldn't.     The issue started with what I thought was a leak because my water meter was moving. Third Generation came out and said that they could not detect a leak and needed to have a leak detection company come out. That was okayed by American Home Shield. They sent out a leak detection company and the leak detection technician said that I didn't have a leak but I needed a backflow something put in. So that went back to Third Generation Plumbing.

    Third Generation Plumbing came out then and had a work order to put in a new pressure overflow tank. But I questioned the plumber on where he got the information because the leak detection guy said nothing about that to me. We talked at length about what was needed and that there wasn't a problem with the water heater. I suspected fraud because that was never an issue with that water tank. But the plumber from Third Generation went ahead and put a new one in. So it didn't solve the problem. I still got my water meter spinning. I called Third Generation and told them about it and their rep said that the issue was closed and that he wouldn't listen to what I had to say. I got irate at that point. But he insisted that it was closed and that if I'd continue to call, he was gonna call the police.

    Third Generation has always been great. Everybody I've dealt with has always been good, in my opinion. The technicians were good and the phone was good. I called back a few minutes later and got a woman on the phone, who I had spoken with in the past. I told her that I was that glad I got her because I was talking to somebody else who wouldn't listen to anything. Then she handed the phone to him and he got back on the phone and said that he was going to call the police. I asked to talk to the manager and the guy said that he was the manager. At that point, it was a done deal. I knew that they scammed the home warranty. They wrote up a work order that was bogus and sent it to American Home Shield to be paid.

    American Home Shield sent out another company to look at things and they couldn't find a leak. The guy said that I needed a backflow but I'd have to get with American Home Shield and see if they would cover that. Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. The only issue I have with them is that I end up in a call service in the Philippines and the people there that we're talking to don't know anything about what I'm talking about. But they've always been on top of things to get a contractor there. This last time, they were good enough to find a new contractor so I didn't have to deal with Third Generation again.

    We called in the garbage disposal claim on a Friday, and the contractor got back to us on Saturday and then they came out on Sunday. I told the tech what the problem was. But when he got here, he knew that I needed a new garbage disposal by the problem I told him, and he didn't have one. So he had to go back and get one. But he brought it and got it set up. So I was very happy with it.

    We had a problem in November with the icemaker in our refrigerator. The fella at Hayes Appliance came out and discovered that they needed a part, so he went and got it. Then he came back and fixed it, but it didn't work properly, so they came again and had to order another part. We waited for about a month and didn't hear anything. We called Hayes and they said they haven't received the part. My wife called American Home Shield and they said they sent the part. So they said they would send another part. Then my wife followed up a couple weeks later and talked to American Home Shield and they said, “Well, we'll check on it. We'll call you back today or tomorrow.” But they never called her back.

    A week later, my wife did the same thing. Never got a call back. Finally, it was resolved. Hayes came out. They got the part and fixed it. But the problem was with American Home Shield. They weren't getting back to us. Also, if we wanted to talk to a supervisor, the supervisors weren't available, but somebody would call back and they didn't call back. Overall, we're very happy with American Home Shield, except for the problem with the refrigerator. We went almost two months without water, and we're on the well so that's our only filtered water.

    I came home after having the washing machine working and there was water everywhere. A Sears technician came out and really spent a lot of time looking at the washing machine. But he could not find anything wrong with it. Just before he was ready to leave, he turned it on again, let it fill up then it started draining. When it started draining, he realized that the problem wasn't the washing machine but the drain system. I had to get two different plumbers to come out. The issue is completely resolved now.

    I had American Home Shield in Maryland and they were wonderful. Now, I moved out to Washington State and they are still very good. They have always been responsive and they've always sent a technician out as soon as possible. They repaired things well and things that they've had to replace have been very good too. The technicians have been really helpful with a lot of information and things that maybe I should or shouldn't do.

    A&P was wonderful. They did an amazing job. As far as the appliances, most of them were irreparable. Our washer was shaking violently and it wouldn't rinse the clothes out. Everything was still sopping wet. So I called for the repair on that one and it turned out that it was one of the issues with that washer. So because there was a recall on it, I had to contact LG. AHS wouldn't cover it. I've called LG twice and I've left messages to whatever department it's supposed to go to but I have not heard back from them on that.

    On our dryer, I didn't feel safe using it because there was so much lint built up inside of it and it still smelled like burning even after it was cleaned out and the coils. Also, the dryer was so much older that I figured that it wasn't worth it. So, I just cashed out and I went to see what I could get and got a new one that same day. I also cashed out the double oven and refrigerator. I'm waiting on delivery for those. It was terrible. The stovetop is a downdraft and that isn't working. They gave me an option to wait 10 to 14 weeks to be able to use it again or cash out at $170 towards a new one. We can't wait 10 to 14 weeks to have a cooktop, so we have no choice. It's disappointing. $170 is not gonna cover much towards a new one, but it's something.

    When we bought the house, we had the inspector come and we paid the upgrade to double-check the appliances. But we're not happy with a lot of things. There was a major issue with our furnace. It was a dangerous issue. There was soot everywhere and the cap would keep getting full of soot. We just had the oil filled and it was clogged with soot. I had the chimney sweepers come out and sweep, but it was still clogging up. Something was broken inside of it or cracked where it was not heating right. Where the stack from the harness meets the chimney, there was a large gap that was leaking, going into the house rather than going into the chimney. It needed to be cemented closed. The repairman said that it was not safe and my inspector should have caught that issue.

    The oven went out. I phoned in then AHS hooked me up with a repair person, and then he called me and told me that he was coming out and asked me what type of range that I have. He was really nice, very knowledgeable, and went right to work. He told me what was wrong, he got the serial number, had to order the part, it came to my house, and then he came back. If I was able to give him that serial number over the phone, he could have come with the part. It could have made it simpler for him. Nonetheless, the oven now is just like new.

    The log-in process with American Home Shield, for whatever reason, is not good. It constantly says I have the wrong email or I have to do something. So I have to find a different portal to go in. I don't enjoy that so I typically call Tammy, my rep, to process a claim for me. I had a heating issue and it was 4:00 PM when we asked for someone to come out and the contractor came the next day. It was a little longer than I would have expected. It was cold but luckily, it was the basement.     Septic isn't covered under American Home Shield. But we had the septic company come out and they just basically did the whole thing. They just were able to get further than we were able to in the underground pipes and it was just a blockage. It was our first time using the American Shield and the claims submission was quite easy. We paid the fee and the turnaround was quicker than I thought. Originally, the rep said that it would be up to 48 hours till the plumber would come out and I was concerned. But literally, they came the next day which was great. I’m very pleased with the experience. It was good and efficient.

    We bought the house about seven months ago and the seller included American Home Shield as a perk. I’m happy with them. Hopefully, we don't have to use them again for anything but we're glad that we have them. I definitely would recommend American Home Shield to others and I would like to renew them ourselves once the time comes to renew in July.

    My icemaker on my refrigerator is not dispensing ice. The tech came out and fixed it on January 26. It worked fine for three weeks. But a couple days ago, it started doing the same thing it did in January. So he is coming out next Thursday to look at it again. He didn't replace any parts in January. He just kinda cleaned it and got it unjammed. But so far, I've been really pleased with American Home Shield. I've had them for a long time and if I had a problem, they get it fixed.

    I am tired of AHS sending companies in my house that are one-star rated. They come in only to write up tickets, so that AHS will deny absolutely everything. My husband wanted me to cancel five years ago but I told him that we needed to keep the warranty and I have kept on. He's gone now, so I probably need AHS more than ever, but I'm done because I'm not going to let these men come in here and talk to me like they did and take advantage.

    My furnace not coming on for three days during the winter storm of Houston. A friend back home told me how to reset it and I tried to reset it myself because I knew there was a way to do it. I was told me to just turn it off, leave it off all night, then in the morning, turn it on, and see if it resets. I did that and it came on but I couldn't get the flow in them. Nothing would come out in the kitchen and I had to get electric heaters and plug them in the kitchen, so my pipes wouldn’t burst in the kitchen.

    Then, I put in a claim with AHS and the technician from Air Dynasty came in. He said my ductwork could needed cleaning, which was not covered. But I told him that it was cleaned in May. It was taken out of my house and I had an access door put in in May because I had a brand-new air conditioning system put in. At the time, American Home Shield also denied my air conditioning claim because the techs put in that my old unit was dirty and that was why it was broken, which wasn’t the case. It was 30 years old and that persons that came for that said that they would put a brand new motor in and it was going to buy me a couple of years, and it did. But they said that AHS would buy us a new air conditioning system but they didn't.

    The next time I got a person to come out, he was from another one-star company. He said that it was close to 30 years old and that was causing the problem. But my husband was an engineer and he said that that was not why the unit was not working. So, he told them to tried to figure out how to get the engine to work. But they just put a brand-new motor in it instead of figuring out how to get it working.

    So, when Air Dynasty’s tech came out and I told him all that, he said that he would come back with his supervisor at 3:00 o'clock. Then, he stood over me and said that he needed me to rate him. I didn't want to rate him until my claim was over but he wouldn't leave my house till I rated him. I put a 3 down and he said that he needed a 5. He also said that I could rate them again when he came back with his supervisor. Aside from that, he told me that I needed my ductwork done and it would cost $8,000. That was how much it was going to be to get my heater working and it had nothing to do with my furnace. But I already had an estimate for that from another company and it would cost only $2,400 to $2,800. The tech then walked out the door and did nothing to my furnace to figure out why it wasn’t coming in the kitchen.

    Then, the warranty states that if the techs couldn’t figure how to get an appliance working, American Home Shield is supposed to replace it. But in the way that that guy wrote up his report, the problem was all our fault because the unit was dirty. I'm also not really happy with AHS right now because I called them on Monday, and it's Friday now. So, it's been a whole week and nothing has been resolved. I called the company that put my AC in and asked them to get back out here. I told them to test all my ductwork and make sure it's flowing. If it's not flowing, I’ll rip it out the next day and they can put in a new one. When they came out, they tested it and told me that it was ripped up in the corner, but it's still flowing through there. They also said that that's not where the problem is. The problem is over somewhere. Now, I've got another ductwork people coming out on Monday to see if they can figure out why it's still not fixed.

    At the same time, I have a hot water heater that's been out since the day of the storm. Houston cut our electric and gas flow off then everybody’s hot water tank blew up. Then, all the pipes froze but my pipes didn't freeze because I cut my water off at the street. When I submitted a claim with AHS for the hot water, the same thing happened. Plumber came in and did not even try to start it. It's in the attic and I agree that it’s in the worst place possible. It’s a hard place to get to. But he didn't even bend down and put a lighter on it. I didn't hear from anybody after his visit, then I got an email saying that they might have to bring something up to code. I thought it couldn't be that much but the plumber said that it was going to be $1,400. I told him that he was out of his mind and that I would be calling my own plumber.

    Before this claim, American Home Shield replaced the other hot water heater that I had on on my ground floor a few years back. That was when it was a good company. I paid 30 bucks and AHS paid their price. And the techs came in and replaced my item. But it’s not like that anymore. American Home Shield is getting thrown through the wolves and I'm surprised they have have any customers. If you Google the companies that they send out, the first line in every one of these companies is American Home Shield, and those companies have one star, so American Home Shield has one-star.

    AHS ended up sending the same repairmen that I had when I was with Sears Home Warranty, so I was a little surprised. I thought I'd be getting different contractors out to fix my stuff with them, but the one who worked on my fridge was fine. The tech did a good job, knew what the problem was, and was very nice. He was in and out in no time. And thankfully, I didn't have to buy another refrigerator. At the time, there was water coming out from the freezer door and I thought maybe there was a kink in the line. But it turned out that the part at the back where the grates are had gotten frozen and the water didn't have anywhere to go but out. The tech had to defrost this and clean the filter. The fridge is fine now and submitting the claim for this service was pretty easy. Things worked out pretty well.

    The company that came out for the microwave was really great. They checked it and it was the motherboard. They said, "We'll have to submit a thing to order the part." A month went by. Finally, the part came in but then they realized that it wasn't the full part of the motherboard. So then they chose to replace it. I had to call back. The claim was approved for us to get a replacement through American Home Shield, but they didn't have a comparable over-the-range microwave. So they sent us a check.

    But the only thing that I'm not satisfied with is the fact that I can't get a decent over-the-range microwave. They were like $600. I already paid $100 'cause that was my deductible for them to come out. I'm also having to pay because I don't know how to install it and that's over 100 bucks. So that's the annoying part. But if they had had one in stock, it would have been much easier because then everything would have been covered.

    Everyone is always very kind when I call AHS to ask about a claim. But they're always really nervous to make a mistake. They have been foreign and they always seem super cautious. I almost feel like they're scared. But then when I talk to someone, like the lady in the replacement, I feel a totally different vibe from that person versus the person who answers the call to submit the claim.

    We put in a claim for our oven at the end of November. I have to wait so long for the part. But with the company as a whole, the people have been very polite and kind about it. I talked to a lady yesterday at Home Shield and they are still waiting for a part. They said the part was in transit. That’s what the appliance place told them. I told the lady that if at the end of this month I haven't gotten the part then, I don't want to keep waiting. That would have been four months by then.

    I've been going down to my daughter's house to cook. It would be nice to cook in your own house. The burners still work but I had to turn the power off in the garage because it would be like a fire alarm going. That aside, everybody I had talked to was professional so far.     The technician who came for my dishwasher was excellent. He got it fixed and it was great. I had Sears Maintenance Agreement and they were a dumpster fire. They used to always send somebody and every time that they would come out, they would send a guy in a car with no parts. They would order the parts, mail the parts to me weeks later and I would be without a washer or dryer for weeks at a time. Then, they would call me to reschedule and then put the wrong parts.     The stovetop claim was a long time ago. I was sent an email asking me which option I would pick but I never got the email. I still rented the home and when I went to the home, I saw that the stovetop wasn't replaced. I asked the tenants, but they never came back. So I called American Home Shield and told them that they were supposed to replace the stovetop. The AHS rep said that she would resend the email. She said that I could pick one of the three options, so I picked the third option and I just purchased a stovetop and I sent the receipt.

    The furnace was making a loud noise. So the tenants shut it off. A company came and put a blower on it. Then again, it went out and they came back and they said it needed to be restarted. It was something minor. They left and then it went out again. So AHS called the company back but the company couldn't come back. So they sent a different company. The technician from the new company said that it was a switch and he installed the new one. Everything's perfect now. I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield.

    The plumbing company we've had is pretty cool to work with. They’ve been here before for another problem and they seem to be very quick. They do a really good job and they don’t leave a big mess. The claims submission with American Home Shield is pretty easy. Their reps are very good when I call them. The only thing I would change is I would like to see the price go down. It has gone up almost $20 since we've started it four years ago, and that's quite a bit of an increase. We started out at $52 a month and that was cool. But now it’s at 69.87 or something. It’s quite high compared to four years ago and we haven’t had very many claims.

    There was a bad smell coming out of our master bathroom and we thought it was associated with the toilet. We submitted a claim with AHS and the techs had been out here twice. The first time they came, they found that the toilet wasn't securely sealed to the floor, so they sealed it. Two weeks later, we smelled it again and went back on American Home Shield’s website. We put in there that we needed them to come back out and there was no fee, which I was happy for.

    When the techs came back out, they found that we needed to run water in one of the bathtubs that we're not using often. We use the shower more often and something about the P trap in the bathtub was allowing the smell to come through. So they've given us an explanation, but I'm waiting to see if it's true. All in all, filing a claim with AHS appeared to be a simple process and it was all done online. I also received the emails to help me with how to create an account and log in. Before using AHS, I rented a home from someone who used a different provider and their process seemed to be a little more cumbersome.

    I had a water heater that was rusted out and leaking. It needed to be replaced. American Home Shield sent a plumbing company to check on it. The plumbers told me that they wanted me to tell American Home Shield that I didn't want them to do the job, do the cash-out but they would do the work anyway. That seemed weird and sketchy to me.

    So, I told the plumbers that I'd rather have them do the job. I then got a call from AHS asking if I wanted cash in lieu. I told them I never asked for that. I was provided a different company that never even came out to look at the water heater. They dropped me and then transferred me back to the original guys. I felt like I was a volleyball and it was a hard situation. It's the middle of January, there’s no hot water, and these companies don't even want to do the work. They kept transferring me to different people and kept ignoring me. That was a bad experience and it made me reevaluate whether or not I wanted to be a customer of American Home Shield. I asked people at American Home Shield never to let me work with those technicians again. I don't trust that they'll do a good job if they don't even wanna do the job in the first place.

    Eventually, I said “Fine. Just give me the cash in lieu. And I will replace it myself since these companies don't wanna come out.” AHS gave me $400 but to replace the heater costs $1,600. If I were to do the replacement myself, it would cost me way more than $400 to purchase a water heater and put it in my own pickup truck, and bring it home, not including delivery. There wouldn't be any amount left over for installation if $400 is all AHS is giving me.

    Other than that, my experience has been mostly good. Recently, one of my water heaters went out. It took a while for the techs from Reeder to come out. When they did, they got here on time but they had to go get a part. They came back, fixed my heater and it has been great ever since. Reeder has been so amazing that I have them do maintenance on my furnace once a year. While sometimes I get a bad experience with AHS, there are good opportunities to network with good technicians.

    We had issues with our washing machine. It wasn't jumping from cycle to cycle. The quickness sometimes of the work that needs to get done and get corrected is sometimes slow. But I understand. They are going with probably the cheapest work possible, which is fine. Most of the time, it's good. A repairman came in and he did an excellent job. He showed us everything that was wrong and explained everything that needed to be explained. Everything went very smoothly.

    We were out of a machine for about a week and a half before they finally got parts sent over. But the claims process was pretty quick and straightforward. It was just getting the work corrected, which was the slow part. When they finally got the parts in, the repairman was out here maybe 20 minutes. He took care of everything that needed to get taken care of.

    We had an issue about two summers ago with an air conditioning repair where we went without an AC for about two weeks, if not a little bit longer. The first company American Home Shield sent out was horrible. The tech didn't know what he was doing. After I called and got on American Home Shield, they sent out a second company and the issue was taken care of.

    On the first claim with the appliance, we had Sears Appliance come out. They looked at the unit and they said that they couldn't get parts for that thing. But

    American Home Shield came through. They were within 24 hours of that guy being there and said that they were gonna make a cash settlement. It basically covered what I needed to do. It was really great.

    I had the furnace go out on the same property. All of a sudden, American Home Shield sent a guy out. I didn't hear anything from him. I called their representative and he was professional and responsive. After I talked to him, by the end of that day, I had what I was looking for. He reached out to the contractor, rode them until they gave him what he needed, and then he responded. It took a week and a half for the tech to come out.

    I wanted to do a little something different. The furnace had an old heat exchange but with the climate change, we'd be getting colder temperatures. Heat exchangers don't work anymore. They only get 20-plus degrees over what the ambient temperature is. When the temperature was running 65, I didn't notice anything. I could get it up to 85 in the house. Big deal. Now, the temperatures are running 45 and it's a different story. It's gonna cost me seven grand to get this thing fixed. American Home Shield came through but only offered me $2,000 on a $7,000 deal. I've owned that property 10 years and I'm paying $700 American Home Shield a year. I could’ve just bought a furnace out of my pocket. So, I have one good experience with American Home Shield and a bad experience with them.

    Our most recent claim to American Home Shield was a hot water heater that has completely quit working. It was installed in 1999, so it's old. They sent a technician with Super Plumbers here in Tyler. He took one look at the hot water heater, said, “Yes, it needs to be replaced,” and he gave me the receipt and the work order that he wrote up. He said, “I will go back to the office. We'll contact American Home Shield. They will get the information for me. They will give the approval.” I reported it on the 20th of February. The plumber came out on the 26th. I know that everybody is super busy because of all the ice and snow and below zero temperatures that we've had. But he made it out here on the 26th. I haven't heard from American Home Shield since. I looked at my account yesterday, and there's a note that they've put in. It's “The work order is out for review.”

    The day before yesterday, I called Super Plumbers to see what the status was. The agent told me that American Home Shield had requested additional information from the service man. They sent that the day before yesterday. So it's like they were waiting on some information from the plumber’s company. I also had a heating unit issue. We've got two heat pump units. One of them I thought had quit working. They sent a technician and he replaced a part within the unit. Then when the temperature started falling below 30, the unit quit heating again. They explained to me how a heat pump works. Once the temperatures go below 30, the outside unit will stop working. The inside unit, the air handler has heating coils in it, and that portion of the unit will kick in and that will heat your house.

    However, mine, on my one unit, the heating element had been disconnected for some reason. The A-US Air technician hooked that up. They came out a second time. There was no charge because you have 30 to 60 days of if it's the same issue, they'll come back out at no charge, at which they did. They fixed it, and everything's great. I also used American Home Shield in one of our other homes, and they were very good. We were very satisfied with them.

    When it worked with AHS, it worked good. In the beginning, it was crazy because it was 100 degrees and the air didn't work. When I called, I got in like a circle hell of messages where I couldn't talk to anybody. They kept saying it was not my account number and that they don't recognize it. My Realtor put a piece of information wrong so AHS had no idea who I was. I was dying in the heat and trying to figure that out. The options were all way too automated. They didn't give me like a, “If we didn't give you a solution here and you really need to talk to somebody, this is what you do,” thing.

    But once my information got fixed, it seemed to work fine. I opened up my account online, went in, and requested services. I had them out there for the water heater, kitchen sink, and two other issues. The people were nice and they knew what they were talking about. But I didn't always get things fixed. Sometimes I pay $75 for somebody to come out and Home Shield doesn't cover it.

    The wire was not getting hot. The claim was not addressed correctly. When I called to set up the appointment, the service was horrible. And then, she gave the wrong information. So, I had to have three different people come out to fix one issue that only the last person was able to fix. The first person came. He thought that it was a radiator in the bathroom. But he couldn't do anything. The second person that came was from heating and air conditioning. He said that there was nothing that he could do. The third person that came was the one who fixed it. He was good. I don't like the fact that you have to prepay. I guess it's a part of the policy for someone to come out.     I had an air conditioning problem and when I first submitted my claim with AHS, I told the person with whom I spoke with that it was an air conditioner issue and that it was about water dropping from the unit which is in the attic. But they assigned Mr. Rooter to me and I remembered that they work on plumbing. They don't have anything to do with air conditioning. So, I immediately called back and I spoke with someone else, who then assigned my claim to an air conditioning company. Then, the tech came out and from what this gentlemen told my husband, he was going tell AHS what needs to be done and from there, they'll do something. He said that AHS has to decide as to what steps going to be taken next. But nothing has been done right at this time.

    Other than that, I've been very satisfied with my past experiences with AHS. One of them involved the stove that needed a control panel and the techs came out on that job on February the 2nd. I was told that the part would be in on the 18th and the job was completed last Thursday. I would like to have had more information from time to time with where we were because when I called back the next day after the 18th, I was told that the part was in and that someone would call us. This is a rental property and we'd like to be notified that we’d be present when they go into these homes and make sure that they have masks on since we had one experience with one man who wasn’t wearing one.

    The webpage of AHS was easy to make the claim on because it had the exact criteria that I can select. The first claim I had was for rekeying the locks after moving in. It was straightforward. But I had a little bit of trouble locating the guy. He said he was going to come the same day but he never showed up. The next day, he came.

    For my recent claim, I had a gas leak in the furnace. After the utility came out to shut off the gas I called American Home Shield and they sent out Brown Air Conditioning. The tech came out twice. The first time, he diagnosed it and realized it is a leak. It needed a part. Then, he came back about three days later and installed the part. Thank goodness it was fixed because we had a cold spell. This was the third time I've used American Home Shield. The second time, it was a total problem. AHS came with the house when I bought it. Now that I've used them, I would consider using them if I was selling or buying another house in the future. But I also have to read the contract very carefully and make sure there's no wiggle room for some of the not-so-scrupulous contractors to give them wiggle room to make problems. Overall, my experience with AHS was good. They get the job done when they send the right people out.

    A sewer gas backup smell was coming into my house. The smell would come and go and we were able to get it to happen once, just really short but not in a really strong manner. So a plumber from Conklin Plumbing came out to try and identify the reasons for the issue. He was good. We walked around the house and he checked everything that could be checked and he could find no apparent reason for the issue.

    The plumber was stumped as to what was causing it because everything looked fine in terms of water in the P traps and things being set and running the way they should be. He said that if it would happen again, a couple of things that might have happened were that during the freezing weather that we had two weeks ago, there could have some venting out the vent stack that froze over. That would seal up the vent stack and was forcing the sewage smell to come back into the house at the only open location which was in the laundry room. Everything works fine right now but if we get those sewer gas smells again, we have to call out for another trip.

    I had another air conditioning place come out the day before to keep my air conditioning unit in shape. They told me there was something broken and they figured that there was a hole in the ductwork. I didn't have them touch anything. We stopped and went to open a claim with American Home Shield. Max Cool Air came out and said that the flute spout was not broken and there was not a hole in the ductwork but the ductwork needed to be completely redone. So they did that but I paid for it separately. Now, it's working better.

    The technicians were fine but I didn't like that the person that I talked to was not a technician. He was more of sales so what he told me didn't necessarily happen. He said that there was going to be a team of five that would come in and they were going to add all these ducts. They were going to come the day before and do this computer program to make sure that it was all laid out correctly but none of that happened. Max Cool Air subcontracted it to two other people, which is fine, but it took me a little bit because I had to have a translator to ask my questions.

    We've had two claims with AHS. They've sent people out and that's been great. But neither of the claims have been resolved yet. One of them is for our jetted tub. When you press the button, the jets don't stay on. You have to hold the button down to keep them on. The company that came out figured out that there's a problem with a part and they needed to get a part ordered. We didn't hear anything for a month so we called and asked AHS what was going on. They said they'd have to look into it and they'd get back to us. It's been over a week but we haven't heard back from them.

    The other claim we put in was for our heat that stopped working on the first floor. May Heating and Air came out and reset it. They're great. The unit was fine then it stopped working again. They came back out and figured out that it was shutting down because there was a problem with it and they needed a part. What they told us was AHS would order the part then once it would come in, they would come back out and do the work. But we haven't heard anything about that and it's been a week. The guy had called the supplier and the supplier said once they get the order, it should take 24 to 48 hours to get the part. It's taking a long time when I don't know that it should take that long. I’m hopeful that it's all going to get resolved but I would have liked for it to be resolved sooner.

    I sent in a claim online when our refrigerator wasn't getting cold. It was pretty easy to do and the then website said it would take the contractor about 24 hours or so to get back to me once the claim was put in. When the tech came out, there wasn't any repairs that needed to be done. He just taught me how to help my fridge breathe a little bit better. I did that and it's worked so far. Everything was fine. So far, American Home Shield's service has been fine. They seem to be responsive whenever I need them to be.

    I had a leak. It was showing up in the crawlspace. The plumber came out, found a cracked drain pipe and fixed it on the spot with something out of their truck. They did a great job. The only thing that was kind of questionable was they had to cut into the wall in order to find the leak. The plumber was under the impression that the warranty would also cover repairing the drywall that had to be removed but it doesn't sound like that's part of the process. But it's not a big distraction and we're happy with what they did for us.

    I had a dryer issue and the tech that was sent was very nice. The problem ended up being the nozzle and he ordered some more nozzle for the dryer. Since he put that on the dryer, it has worked fine. I ended up spending 100 bucks for them to come fix my problem but there was no problem and it's all good.

    We paid the $75 fee to have AHS come out and fix our washing machine. They came out and looked at it and claimed that it was the motor. Which was covered under a 10 year extended warranty. The extended warranty only covered the motor. I was expected to pay for a $99 diagnosis fee to confirm the it was the motor plus any additional parts and labor of at least $109 = $210 minimum. AHS closed my work order and refused to pay back the money even though my washing machine was not completely covered under the extended warranty. I would not recommend going with this company. The first time I used them they aren't willing to call and work out some way to resolve a way to get our washing machine fixed.

    I was not happy with the service that the man from Total Air Care provided. I asked him to check the Freon because last time when they came, the Freon was low and they had to add Freon. He said it’s 59 degrees and I don't need the Freon check. He didn't bother checking it and I would have to pay for somebody to come back out to do that. I was not happy with that. But the man that came out to do the ductwork was fantastic. He knew what he was doing and he did a really good job. I told him my bedroom is always really cold and the back bedrooms were a different temperature and he went up in the attic and checked the ductwork. He made some adjustments and when he left, my house was all now the same temperature. Also, I had a guy that came out to put in my garbage disposal and he was awesome.

    I don’t like to pay a $100 deductible but American Home Shield is a good company. They respond to me quickly and has been finding the certified people to work on for claims since July.     My furnace quit and the contractor came in. The first time they came, they changed the part on it. I paid the $100 deductible. Two or three days later, the furnace quit again so they came in and said that needed to be replaced. He ordered the furnace and I got it but I waited nine days. My house was freezing and I worried about my water freezing too. The technicians were both very nice but it was ridiculous that I had to wait nine days in the middle of winter. I also paid another $100 deductible and I should get that second one back because it's the same issue.

    The first time for our heating claim, the thermostat was changed but it was the end of winter. We turned the heater back on in the fall. Then we were having the same issues so we called AHS out again. This time, the technician was really great, clean, and nice. He went up in the attic, looked at the furnace, and found some corroded parts. Overall, AHS is good. I may just not use them in the future. They're getting pretty high priced.

    I tried to replace the handle but the stem inside was broken. I tried to submit a claim online but the issue wasn't on the list so I called and talked to an agent about it. Super Plumbers came out and it was great service. They texted and emailed me saying what time they were gonna come out and they called me when they were on their way. My shower handles were so old, the tech said that he had to order a special stem for it. It now works perfectly.
