    The hot water heater was showing an error code on the device in the unit. So, we had someone come out to take a look at it. I kind of explained the situation and the history where the pilot light had kind of kept going out on it and I had trouble restarting that pilot light just following the instructions on the side of the water heater. I took a video of the error code that it was blinking. The tech assessed what I submitted through American Home Shield, confirmed everything I was saying was indeed true and recommended a replacement of the unit.

    The contractor came out twice. The first time and the second time, both the techs were fantastic. They were timely, the communication was very good, and they were able to kind of like describe the problem. The second time a tech came out was to replace the unit. He called and said, "Hey, I'll be there in this amount of time," and he showed up exactly when they said they would and did the service timely. Everything's been perfect. I've had no issues with any error codes. American Home Shield was exactly what I was hoping for. They went above and beyond with customer service and friendliness.

    The furnace was running, but when it was shutting off, it was making a really bad cranking noise when it cranked down. I was concerned that there was something wrong with it and so I called to have somebody come out and look at it. He came out and checked the furnace and everything on it, as well as the other unit. He said they were both fine. He ended up putting four pounds of Freon in it and that seemed to take care of the problem.

    I’ve also had the rekey guy come out and he’s been phenomenal. For now, on the rekey that we originally had, we just had an issue with the deadbolt. For some reason, it’s not connecting. It just spins when we put the key in it. I didn’t know if I needed to call back on that or is that something I had to get fixed on my own. But then the repairs have given me peace of mind on any issues that we might have now or in the future with buying this new piece of property. I feel comfortable that if something's wrong, it's money well spent for the protection.

    Service people came for a plumbing issue and they were professional. They diagnosed the problem quickly. Water was leaking so there were some rust and corrosion. The thing was not turning on because the water was leaking and it was blocking the normal air from getting inside. The service people replaced that whole thing. It was good all in all and I'm happy with the service.

    Another service request I made with American Home Shield was for the door handle of a microwave that is above the stove. The service people for this request have ordered the part and they are going to fix it sometime this Friday. Whenever I have a service request, I go to the American Home Shield webpage if the internet is available. If it is not, then I have to make a call. Doing the process over the internet is easier because it's logging and just creating. When I call, there’s a little bit of a waiting time and some conversation.

    Almost everybody that I know said they were dealing with American Home Shield. They pretty much liked the fact that if something happened, there was a deductible and the home warranty gets the appliance fixed or replaced. The claim process was really easy. When my washer stopped working midway through a cycle, techs came out and they said the board burned up. It was gone. The biggest thing about getting anew washer was it took a little over a week but that was not really noticeable. We had to go out of town and the very next day we came back, the washer was here. Things worked out. On the whole, everything is going fine.

    Things have been easy and worry free with American Home Shield. They have the best website I've seen in terms of a home warranty. It's the easiest to use and it's great for managing rental properties because I can just pay with my credit card right there. The contractors I've gotten have been good so far. JED Plumbing and Gas has been to my house twice. They fixed the hot water in one of my bathrooms and also fixed the noise coming from another bathroom faucet.

    I did a plumbing claim for a leak. The contractor was not able to get it done the day they came because they needed a second person. We rescheduled for about a week later then they came out and finished everything. It was my second claim with AHS and on the first claim, the problem ended up being our Nest. They couldn't replace it which is kind of a downer but we added it. We had a warranty through Best Buy so they just switched it out.

    My recent claim with AHS was the thermostat. The techs came over and fixed it within 20 minutes. Now it works well. That home is a rental. I'm the landlord. American Home Shield has come out numerous times to fix the plumbing problems, air conditioning problems, heating problems, that's why I've been with them. I'll stay with them as long as I'm the landlord. Resolves problems. It's worth getting.

    The heater wasn't functioning correctly and Budget AC took care of it. Everything was fine. But when we had an issue with our air conditioner, American Home Shield didn't cover it. Then when we had a problem with the water heater, we had to really pay a lot of money but I saw it somewhere that it would be covered more than it was. Other than that, everything has been okay.

    All Brands Appliance Repair Service installed my microwave months ago. Several months ago, it stopped working. I had someone come in through, a Jeff, and he found the problem. They ordered the part. The part wasn't available, so I needed a new microwave. It was around the holidays, so I decided that I would just go ahead and pick one that I wanted. But then, since it was around the holidays, it became difficult for finding something. I just went back to American Home Shield and they had someone bring the microwave, but I thought they were gonna install it. They just brought it and dropped it off. So, then I had to wait another two, three weeks for it to be installed.

    However, the All Brands people were wonderful. The guy that came by was very efficient, very professional, very personable. Got it done. It's working fine and we're very happy. American Home Shield is very responsive to my needs. When I called that very first time, they made an account for it. Then, I got scheduled for someone to come out. I just appreciate the overall responsiveness.

    I've used American Home Shield three times so far, twice for the pool then on Sunday for the sewer line backup. The pool repairs both went really nicely. The same guy came out on both times and he was friendly. He explained everything and fixed everything really fast. He did a really good job and I was very happy about that.

    On Sunday, I called because we had a sewer line backup. The toilet in the bottom floor of my house started overflowing from the floor up. I called American Home Shield because there was no way on their website to file a claim with an emergency status. I had to sit on hold for an hour then get somebody to do it. Their process for emergency service is absolutely horrendous. To them, an emergency service still allows them 24 hours to fulfill a call. When you have water coming up from underneath your floor, you don't have 24 hours to wait. A rooter service or 24-hour services usually come out any hour of the day to deal with stuff like that.

    American Home Shield called and spoke to the service provider. The service provider said that they could come out. I just have to call them to schedule the visit. I called the service provider and they told me that they told American Home Shield that there was no way they could come out that day. I had to hang up with the service provider then call and sit on hold again with American Home Shield for another half hour only to be told, “As long as they can come out within 24 hours and they fulfill their obligation.” But that was not gonna do me any good. I couldn't wait 24 hours. The first floor was flooding and not a single bathroom in the house was usable.

    We went around and around in circles for a while. I asked to speak to a supervisor, which apparently isn't something you can do anymore. I got told the supervisor would call me. It has been almost four days and a supervisor has still not called me. I'm quite frustrated with American Home Shield. I've been lied to by customer service twice and not taken seriously when I have an actual emergency call.

    In the end, I had to go outside of American Home Shield. I was able to get somebody out there in 10 minutes who resolved the immediate situation, though additional work still has to be done to correct the problem. I have not had the time to call American Home Shield and sit on hold again for an hour and fight with somebody yet so the claim has not yet been resolved. I'm not happy and at this point, I doubt I'm gonna renew with American home Shield. If I can't get this solved, I'm gonna cancel my policy. And I don't have any problem telling anybody else that's considering buying a home warranty that American Home Shield is not a good option.

    It was very easy to communicate with AHS and get the service here. The tech who came to do the refrigerator and the dryer was good. He did it really fast. He said the lint was getting into the dryer that was why the clothes weren't drying. He came back two weeks later with a piece that he needed and put it in. He didn't want to keep coming back to do multiple things so he waited for the part then came and did the refrigerator and the dryer at the same time. With our refrigerator, we needed a new filter. The ice machine was doing something crazy. He fixed that too. It was easy and simple. I just had to tell him what we needed and he did it. He was really cool and on time. He explained the situation and told us what he did to fix it.

    The garbage disposal could be turned on and you could hear it click, but nothing would hum. It just didn’t work. So, we submitted a claim with AHS and when the gentleman came out, he flushed the line, then he reset it and he realized that something was clogging it. There was a valve on the bottom and he was able to release what was in there. He showed that to my husband and put it all back together. And the garbage disposal was operational within about five to seven minutes. It’s been perfectly fine since then. The tech was also very good and explained what the issue was. And when it was all said and done, my husband knew what had happened.

    United Air Temp came out and fixed my leaky tub faucet. The tech was on time and very professional. He wore his mask and put covers over his shoes. I took him upstairs where the problem was, showed him the bathroom and what it was doing. He noted the model, went out to his truck, came back with what he needed to fix the leak, replaced the parts that he needed to replace, cleaned up where he had some little stuff that fell, and then said, "I'm finished."     The attic fan was not working anymore. The technician came right out, went up there, checked it out and said, “Yup. This is busted.” He made a call to American Home Shield and they approved the work. He was in and out in less than two hours. He was great. However, it would be nice if AHS had more options as far as technicians. I've had AHS for three years. I have run into problems where they sent a particular technician out for a job and he really didn't do a good job. Then for the next job, I asked for a different technician 'cause that was who they automatically referred me to, and they refused to give me anyone else other than who they work with. But I've had a couple of home warranties and I always tell everyone, "Go with AHS. They're simple. They're good. They don't give you the runaround when it comes to filing a claim."

    They fixed the dishwasher in place after they got the part in, which was quick. It was about a week. Then the washing machine, they had to take it back to their shop to rebuild it and replace it 'cause they had to disassemble the whole thing to get through it. At first, we thought there was still a problem with it because it was a lot louder, but they said it was because the transmission is not the same. The part is produced by somebody else, so they said there's a difference. But the washing machine's been working fine. The tech was professional. This is the second time we've had them out and they've done a great job both times.

    A blower on my HVAC unit was not coming on. So, the technician came out and showed up on time. He also called ahead of time. It took him just a couple minutes to troubleshoot it, then he figured out the problem and repaired it. replaced the startup capacitor and he was on his way. The blower is working fine now.

    My claim to American Home Shield for my stove was really good. I called in. I had to wait a while. But eventually, we got it figured out. The technician fixed the stove and he was friendly and helped me through it. There were two other claims that I had. The one with the garage door, I'm still waiting on something. I had a garbage disposal thing, and they're still working to fix it. It's going to be a couple of weeks for them to fix it, but it's not a huge issue. The timeliness has been not the best but overall, it's been satisfactory.

    Our stove wasn't lighting. I sent in a request on the online portal, and then someone called me. The tech was knowledgeable and did a fantastic job. I liked him. It was the ignition switch at the bottom of the oven. But it’s lighting now. He fixed it. We also had American Home Shield for two other items. One of them was something in the furnace had to be cleaned. The tech cleaned and fixed it. And it seemed to be working fine. After that, we had a problem where the furnace shut off every once in a while. It was weird because we had a separate furnace-cleaning company out prior, and they must have just done a bad job cleaning. I wasn't sure who to trust. Because the furnace company just wanted to sell me the furnace. But AHS wants to not have to pay for new stuff. The tech came in, said it just needed a good cleaning and he did it. The other furnace guys out here just wanted to sell me a furnace and didn't clean it. That was not cool at all.

    We also had an issue where the dishwasher was leaking. We were not as impressed with that one because they were like, “Well it's not leaking right now. There's nothing we can do.” But it was a situation where our dishwasher sometimes leaked, and we weren't able to replicate it. The guy was here for 40 minutes. But overall, American Home Shield is good. They are responsive. They were able to come out within a day or two. Also, they are knowledgeable and they fix the issue. Sometimes, it's just an issue of being able to replicate it exactly.

    The repair people came in and had me identify where my issues were. They told me up front what they needed to do and helped me resolve them. Everything's like brand new. All in all, American Home Shield is a good service to have. It depends on just being able to know what coverage you're getting and what it covers. I always have to call and ask.     My furnace went out and it had been out for two days. We thought it was just out of propane but all the propane companies were backed up because we were in the weather was negative 14 for a week and a half. The propane guy thought my gauge was just frozen and when he came out to fill it the propane, he told me that it wasn't just that and that something must have been wrong. So, I called my home warranty and the guys they sent out were here 15 minutes later. The propane guy gave me a tip as to what the needed part might be, so I described it to them. They said they got that part with them, then they picked it up and headed out. And I haven't had an issue since. They were super nice, too. That was my first time using my AHS home warranty and they were quick. It was also way easier than I expected. A lot of times, for those things you call, you can't get through a person for a million years.

    My hot water tank keeps going out and I have to keep lighting it. When the hot water comes on, it makes all this noise and just ticks and rattles. The tech was nice and polite.     We were having heating problems and the room was very hot. We had our service provider come out and do an inspection, and he condemned the unit. He shut it off, turned off the gas, and said, “Don't use this.” So, we froze for a couple of days until we could call American Home Shield and get United Air Temp out. They discovered a hole in the back of the furnace and they had to order a part. They replaced the back shield and did whatever they did. But they had to take the whole thing almost apart to get to the backplate to replace it. The unit should have been replaced. AHS was a bit on the do it the cheapest possible way you can to make it work, and then if it fails in the future, they will deal with it. I wasn't happy with that.

    I got that feeling because of the way the guys were looking at it and going, “Well, we don't know if we can get the part. If we can't get the part, then you're gonna have to pay for new installation and inspection,” and all these things that I would have to pay for that AHS didn't cover. That concerned me because I would think my home warranty would cover if the unit failed. It was condemned for Pete's sake, and we froze for a few days, yet they opted to fix it rather than replace it. So, I was a little disappointed in AHS.

    Other than that, the repairmen seemed to know what they were doing. The one guy couldn't make the decision and he had his manager come out and look at it and make sure that his findings were correct. I appreciated how quickly they were able to get out here. And their professionalism was okay. The guy that fixed it was young, but he was very courteous. All in all, I'm satisfied.

    I noticed the outside unit was blowing air inside but it wasn't kicking on. I called American Home Shield and the process was not very easy. I didn't like it at all. When I finally talked to somebody human, I let them know about it. I was not the nicest person in the world at that point, because I had talked to an automated robot in the beginning and it was trying to collect my fee for the service call. I had to sort of be non-compliant on the phone options in order for someone to finally come on the phone, as opposed to selecting options given to me by this automated robot.

    I called early Saturday evening and the rep said that it would be Monday or Tuesday before someone got with me. I was pretty well fed up at that point. I said, “You're advertising on TV where you have these customer claims that, 'Man, I called them. They were out the same day.' That's false. Because you're actually telling me this is more of a five-day a week. And then when you call after-hours, you get this stuff where you're gonna be responded to on a business day." So I wasn't too impressed.

    The technician that came out was great. He looked at stuff and I told him what was going on. He identified the problem, and it was an indoor thermostat issue where they had two AA batteries that were running the indoor thermostat. So he changed the wiring to go directly to the unit because if power goes out in the house, the indoor thermostat displaying something is not gonna do any good. It's not gonna run anyway. He checked it and turned the air conditioner on, and then turned it down low and got it going.

    Our electrical claim with AHS went fine. They had to change the socket and that went smooth. However, when we had a plumbing claim for a hot water heater, it was the worst experience I ever had. I was without hot water for at least three weeks. Then, after the techs got the hot water heater, American Home Shield took a long time approving it. They also told me an inspector was gonna come out. But the inspector never showed up. I have a lot of people that I know that are complaining and talking about moving away from AHS. A lot of stuff that they were covering before, they're not covering them anymore.

    I've done two claims with AHS, so far, and both of them had been very easy to do. I started doing it online but eventually, I ended up calling them because whenever they assigned me a contractor, they ended up assigning me someone local who was very inexperienced. And they put me in a long waiting line for the type of claims that I was putting in. The two claims I've put in were the same type of claim and AHS always put me with some local contractor. And they put me three weeks away, and I always ended up calling them and getting Sears to do the job. AHS is a big company but before they assign contracts to local people, they should make sure they check feedbacks because I was checking the remarks, and the feedbacks on the local contractors they assigned to me were very poor. AHS needs to read the feedback on people before they assign a local contractor.

    Other than that, there was a misunderstanding with my last claim. There was a part needed to make the job and the guy that came here ordered the part. After the part got here, a second part of the same one got here. So, I had to decline that one from the people that were delivering it. But other than that, the guy who came in was perfect and everything was good.

    The oven wasn't heating up properly. After submitting the claim, I got an email within 24 hours with the contractor who was assigned to it. I contacted them first and it took a while for them to get me on the schedule. It wasn't their fault. There was inclement weather in the area and they got backed up. But when their technician came out, he was on time. The technician was very nice and he was wearing a mask. He explained the problem that he found and what parts he needed to order. Within a week I got an email from the American Home Shield saying that parts could be delayed for three to five weeks. But I got a call from the contractor that the parts were in within two weeks. Everything has been great and the oven is working like new.

    I cannot curtail the daily flow of email from this two-bit company. Two of the "unsubscribe" links redirect me to another AHS offer site. The third opportunity to "unsubscribe" does not process because my McAfee Security will not connect me to what is considered a "Malicious Server". AHS Customer Service cannot help me and the Chat Line does not function. Additionally, the "clever" sending party variable addressing in the emails prevents me from blocking or responding with an "unsubscribe" reply. Other than that, I am sure these are lovely people. My next step is to contact the CEO.

    American Home Shield is the warranty company for my home. I called them for repairs/replacement on my water heater. They sent out a contractor who was not licensed in my county to do work and would not send anyone else. The work required a permit which the company did not get and when they installed my water heater I was left with a carbon monoxide leak that I had to pay another licensed contractor to fix. When I requested a repair for my furnace that had a faulty pump on the exhaust line they denied the claim even after showing them that a licensed HVAC repairman had deemed the unit unsafe. Both times I have had to pay out of pocket for Licensed Contractor to make repairs. There no reason to have a home warranty if they won't even pay for basic safety.

    American Home Shield has done good on everything other than my heating and air. We've been in our house for eight years and every year the air quit working during the summer and then it would start working during the winter. I work for the railroad and I travel. So, my wife and kids are at home with no air and no heat during the winter. It would take like two weeks to get somebody out and they never would fix it. I would have thought as much money as they had spent on repairs, AHS would have replaced my unit. Last year, I got fed up with dealing with them about it. I paid $8,000 out of my pocket and bought a new system myself.

    Recently, we had small leaks with our faucets in the shower that has a little rubber seal on the plunger. The plumbers came and fixed that up.     My garbage disposal was leaking water all over the place. We had great technicians and they replaced the garbage disposal. I also called American Home Shield for my furnace because it turns off by itself. Technicians came out but they couldn't fix anything because the furnace turning off wasn't happening when they were there. I have to wait for it to happen again and record it with my phone to show them what's going on. To me, that's waste because I still have the same problem.

    It seems to happen only at nighttime when it's cold and the heater's trying to cool down the house. I can't really record the furnace struggling to warm up the house. They could come at nighttime when it's 50 degrees in the house and I'm trying to raise the temperature. But when it's 70 degrees outside, the furnace is not really turning on and off like that. It's something that is worth looking into. I called the home warranty today and I asked how long I had left. My 30 days are already up so I have to wait until the furnace really breaks. We'll try again when it gets worse.

    American Home Shield couldn't get anybody out for the weekend. So, lost time there. But they came out on Monday. AHS made those arrangements. United came out and a guy looked at it and said this thing is still under warranty, or “The issues you're having are still under warranty. So I'm not going to do anything. Contact LG.” I'm still waiting for this refrigerator to be even looked at by LG. They're not coming out until Monday. The technician who looked at it was knowledgeable. He went out of his way to explain what he thought to be wrong and was able to show in our owner's manual that the issue that he thought we were having was covered by the five-year warranty for parts and labor. He did good.

    There is a way for me to get to the people that are supposed to be doing the rest of the assessment. But it's cumbersome and frustrating. Thank goodness, it's not the middle of the summertime in Las Vegas, and the air conditioning is out, and two weeks later, we still don't have it. We have a second refrigerator and we were able to put a lot of the stuff in there. Still, we lost a bunch of food that thawed. But at the end of the day, American Home Shield, did their part. I just wish that this was taken care of by now.

    I signed up for American Home Shield because my sister told me that she had had it, and I said, “Gosh, is it worth our while?” And she said, “Well, I really think it is. You ought to check into it.” When I checked into it, I just went ahead and signed up for it. I thought, “Well, it is a pretty good deal.” We’ve been without heat for the week. AHS got somebody out here. The gentleman that they got was from a different town. He did an awesome job and he was a nice gentleman. But he replaced the part and he left our whole thing open, stating that we might have to have a furnace replacement. He told the company, “They'll probably need a new furnace.” He explained it to us. Something was going on with the furnace and it will probably blow down.

    We waited another week, put numerous calls into the company to find out what the update was. But he couldn’t come back out because he was so busy. Our furnace then went out again and it has been six days that we've been without heat again. I talked to somebody again today and I said, “What is going on, guys? Come on! Does it really take this long?” And she said, “Well, they've been out looking for a company that could come and do some work on your furnace or check it out.”

    I called back AHS again today and the rep said, “We finally found a company.” It was funny because this company that they told me they would hook us up for is from the same company that is right here in town. I started chuckling and said, “Oh, my goodness! That company’s right here in town. How come you didn't start off with them?” Because the first guy was from out of town and these people were in town. "Do you realize our heat now will be off over the weekend? And we’ve had a bit of a warm up temp here but it’s supposed to start getting cold again next week."

    However, the fellow from this other company called and said, “Ma'am, we can't come up to your house because we no longer have a contract with American Home Shield.” I called AHS back again and said, “These people can't come out because they don't have a contract with you.” “Oh, okay. We'll see what we can do.” The holdup seems to be between them trying to find a company to come out to the house. When I talked to people on the phone to call in, they were very nice. You couldn't ask for nicer people. And I got different kinds of people because I called numerous times. But the ball dropped when they handed it over to these people who scout around from different companies that could come to your house.

    I prefer calling in when I make claims to American Home Shield and the process is fairly easy. Their IVR talks over you and it doesn't give you an opportunity to say what you're going to say or to answer them before it goes on to the next thing so sometimes, it gets a little frustrating. But it's pretty straightforward. I had a claim recently for a breaker and the tech who came was great. Even though the problem was an easy fix, he checked everything to make sure that that everything was in good order.

    I also have an open claim on my washer because the part is on backorder. I've been getting a little bit of information going this way from Sears and different information from American Home Shield. I'm still waiting. But I'm sure everything will be fine in the end. They are still trying to find the part. On the whole, American Home Shield has done exactly what they said they would do and I have peace of mind.

    My experience with American Home Shield has always been great. I had some work done for my air conditioning unit and my refrigerator. I also called American Home Shield for the replacement of the garbage disposal. The repair person was really nice and efficient. The work was really quick. I actually needed to do two things but I couldn't afford to. I was told that there was another plumbing issue that I'm going to have to get taken care of. The garbage disposal is fine now. I also put in a claim for my smoke detectors because my fire alarm was going off in the middle of the night. My ceilings are high and I couldn't get up there to do anything. The only thing I could do was turn them off at my circuit box. Technicians came the same day or the next day and they put in new smoke detectors.

    Some ring on my washing machine was not working. Repair people came out and they did a fantastic job. They found out what the problem was and said it was going to take a week to get it in. Two days later, their repair person was able to fix it during a snowstorm. We also had an air conditioning thing. Every person that was sent out for our air conditioning unit was horrible. But Sirius was the best and they were amazing. Their person fixed the air conditioning unit. American Home Shield should keep using Sirius because they get the job done. I also don't have to call back 50 million times. You don't want to keep calling back for the same problem.

    My experience with AHS might have been a little long-winded but everything went well. So far, my freezer and my icemaker are working. At first, none of that was working. The serviceman who came out was awesome and very professional. He had to order the part and come back, which would have been a week later. But they didn't have a technician. It was three days that a technician was supposed to be in here and there wasn't one here. I don't know if it's on AHS or if it's on the contractor as far as the prolonged period of getting things repaired. Sometimes, I feel like it's a little prolonged and I don't like that.

    The repair prior to this, which was for my furnace, was my worst experience with American Home Shield. The issue happened when they were waiting for the furnace to come in and I was calling to ask what was going on. They gave me a time when the contractor was coming out, but nobody came and when I called, nobody, again, knew anything. I understand about the pandemic and the prolonging but nobody knew anything and I felt like they were just passing me around because they kept transferring my call. I kept talking to the same person with five different names because everybody's got an accent, so I didn't like that. Then finally, when they decided to assist me, I ended up getting someone else because it was cold and I was in my home for almost three weeks with no heat. So, I ended up calling another company out to do the service, which I felt like I shouldn't have to have done, but it worked out. AHS has to be a little bit more professional and be more consistent. At least they should have called me but they didn't and they didn't let me know that nobody was coming.

    We've had three recent claims and they very easy to deal with. For the electric work with Beacon Hill, the guy came in my house. He automatically put me at ease with the way he spoke with me. He went over things with me. When I asked him to do things, he did it with an open heart. When we had something American Home Shield didn't cover, he explained that to me. It was something that he could cover at a later date. He told me he could not give me a quote but he reassured me that if I called his company, they could take care of all my needs and give me a quote. He was great.

    We've been with American Home Shield on and off for four years. Before, it was different but in the last six months, we've had amazing service. Some guy did call me the other day when they sent the technician out and said they were reassigning me another company. That was great. Their contractors are the best companies to deal with as far as getting things approved for repair. That is very comforting for the homeowner 'cause we don't have to look forward to unsavory expenses. We pay our 75 bucks every month and we're good to go so we enjoy that. However, sometimes when you call in, you get someone in a foreign country. It takes longer than it should because they use a lot of double negatives and a lot of rephrasing statement because they have to clarify.

    The claim process with American Home Shield varies each time. Sometimes, you have to wait for a good period of time before you get a call back from a repair service. If you're dealing with a refrigerator, you would want the service ASAP. You don't want it three days from now. For my refrigerator claim, the unit is still working which is good. The downside is it's the same part that has been replaced three times. I'm not happy with that. American Home Shield has a service that says repair or replace. After three times with the same problem, the whole refrigerator should have been replaced. That aside, my experience with the home warranty has been fairly good for the most part.

    I got up in the morning and I had no heat. Nobody told me that inside a thermostat are batteries. The technician came. He showed it and said, "Did you put no batteries in?"     Calling American Home Shield for a claim is a lot better. Doing it online is confusing and a little crazy. I usually call and talk to a human to set up a claim if I have to. I did one when our light started falling apart and it shortened the circuit. The techs that came were awesome.     I had a horrible experience with American Home Shield involving a refrigerator. Things were melting in the freezer. I called American Home Shield and it was gonna be a week before their contractor could get out. So, we lost a week. The tech said that they needed to replace the compressor in the refrigerator. They scheduled another appointment to do the work and that was another week. At that point, we were going on two weeks without a refrigerator. The tech then called me to say that they were not licensed to handle Freon in North Carolina so I had to call AHS back again.

    AHS assigned another contractor and that took another week. The tech didn't have all the parts and so we went an entire month without a refrigerator. I was buying ice and putting stuff in coolers which was a nightmare. I finally got irritated with AHS and I wanted a cash-out deal. I was told that what I wanted had to go to another committee. It took another two weeks for them to come to a resolution. They sent me an email saying what they would offer and they sent the check. Even worse than that is getting information from AHS as their call center is in Egypt or Saudi Arabia. Every time I talk to their reps, I can barely understand what they are saying. They are very nice but they can never give me anything. When I asked to speak to a supervisor three weeks into my claim, I was told that the supervisors would have to call me.

    The biggest problem is that AHS's call service people are not allowed to forward my calls to somebody above them to deal with it. It's almost worthwhile to just go and buy a replacement appliance myself rather than have to deal with them because they want to fix my older unit to save money. They don't want to buy a new one. The process just went on and on. I was extremely dissatisfied with that. I almost left AHS over that.

    In other things, I have always had a decent relationship with them. They're very quick to take my complaint but I question the subcontractors they sign with. AHS is spending money and so they're not gonna go to a top-of-the-line person to do a lot of the work. AHS guarantees work to be done but it takes time. For my last claim, I had very nice people who came out immediately. My old heating and cooling unit was extremely loud in running. The tech replaced something which quieted it down but not as much as I thought it should have. But, he did everything he could do. He was very responsive and nice to deal with.

    A dysfunctional company & department! After AHS's contractor failed to reply to multiple calls to install a new dishwasher, this Dept. then made a promise to find a suitable contractor that didn't materialize. There is no accountability because customer service representatives will not/cannot provide any identification other than their first name. After agreeing to the unsuitability and unresponsiveness of their selected contractor, and despite a specific promise to find an acceptable replacement to install the dishwasher, a week later this Dept. reassigns the SAME contractor who had failed to respond to calls, voicemails, and did not show for the requested installation date & time.

    Moreover, I was told to call this Dept. first thing in the morning, that it opens at 7am EST, but it has an automated message that states you've called outside of normal business hours or a holiday, to call again later and disconnect, without stating the days & times of their normal business hours. I have not literally wasted several hours on hold waiting to speak to someone to simply get AHS's Appliance Purchasing Dept. to reassign a reliable contractor to install a dishwasher that was delivered a week ago. Incredibly poor customer service combined with an absence of accountability!

    I had a problem with my heating system and I'm not pleased with the way it went with American Home Shield. They sent a contractor out. And when the guy got here, he told me he didn't work on the kind of system I had. But he looked at it anyway, since he was here, and then gave me an opinion. I called AHS. They said, “Well, we'll get you lined up with somebody else.” It took two days for them to do that. Now, my heating system is not working, and it's winter. The next person didn’t work on the type of system I had either. I called AHS again and said, “Can I get my own person?” And they said, “Well, you have to wait 48 or 72 hours.” I waited a few days. Nobody ever called me. I tried calling them back. They said they were still working on it.

    Finally, I just had to have somebody come and fix it. It was cold, right? So then, I got it fixed. AHS called me three days after that and said, “Well, we can't find anybody to fix it, so you can get your own person.” I said I already had it done. They gave me an email address to where to send the paperwork. I emailed it to them. It has been a month, nothing. I called them up the other day to try to find out what was going on. They couldn't figure it out. And the guy said, “Well, I'm gonna have to call you back later.” The line then just went dead, and I haven't heard a word since. So, I still haven't been reimbursed. When we first bought our house last year, we had a couple of problems and AHS was fantastic. It's a different ball game now. You can't get ahold of anybody you can understand. They can't understand you. They won't help you. It's ridiculous. I want my money.

    I received a very good and quick resolution from AHS when my air went out. There was a secondary problem and the tech came back right away. It was a simple issue that I didn't understand. I called on a Sunday, I understood that it was under a weekend, and the tech came first thing Tuesday morning. So I couldn't ask for much more than that. He resolved the problem and he taught me a little bit more about how to manage and maintain my system. Since the service, my unit has been working greatly.     The furnace wasn't working. A-1st came Monday and they were very nice. They got it working. However, it stopped working yesterday. They were supposed to come today, and they couldn't make it. So now, they're coming on Monday again. Also, I got a stove three months after I reported the problem and two months waiting to get it installed. I put in a complaint on October. I had to issue several complaints from October to December before they finally bought me a stove. Because they kept screwing up. Very bad miscommunication from one department to the next.

    The stove came in the second week in January. And American Home Shield has yet to find me someone to install it. Also, they want me to take 120 and cover the difference because they can't find me someone to install it. This isn't a stove that you just plug in. You have to connect the downdraft. I'm not an appliance technician. It took them three months to replace the stove that they knew was broken. And now here I am, waiting for them to actually install it. And then, they wouldn't give me a number to management. My attorney had to look it up. An honorable company will not give you that information. I asked AHS and they said, "We don't have supervisors. We don't give those numbers." "Do you have an address?" "No, we don't have to." I have to put in a small claims complaint because AHS failed to complete their contract.

    I am 54 so when submitting a claim, I feel more comfortable picking up the phone and having somebody to talk to who is able to make some notes and give some resolution and not just somebody to placate me. I can give a quick diagnosis to the person that I'm talking to. Therefore, they can put notes in and make the fix it part of the problem faster.     Our toilet was not stopping and we couldn't fix it ourselves. The techs installed a new system in the tank so it would flush properly. But, I think that the fee that we pay out of pocket to the repair folks on top of the annual fee is more than the service is worth. We've had American Home Shield for a long time and had repairs that took months to get resolved.

    Within the last six months, we had an awful electrician company and they kept messing the job up. So, we had to get our claim reassigned. I still paid another fee even though the first contractor was so bad. We gave AHS feedback about that one electrician and said that the contractor was terrible. When we had another issue come up, AHS still assigned that same contractor. So, I told my husband, I said, “Absolutely not. They're not allowed back in our house. Call them back and get somebody else.”

    I used to have coverage with a different company and it was awful. One of my friends had American Home Shield and suggested it to me. It worked out and I really liked it.     One of the issues I have with American Home Shield is the devil is in the detail. The repair was for the garage door and when I reached out to them, it said garage door. But in the detail, it was the garage door motor and a part was assigned to the motor. I had to explain and call back. The rep was telling me that the part wasn't covered. I went back and forth for days before somebody finally approved the repair to get it done. Whoever they have answering these calls should have a picture of what a motor is so they can identify what's covered and what's not covered. But the who came out was good. He went above and beyond with the level of service. It was pleasant.

    I like AHS. I had them and I went to a different extended warranty and I came back to them. So they're good. The hardest part was trying to file a claim. I explained to the person that I wasn't gonna file the claim because they take your 75 bucks right away and then, you find out when the guy comes out that it’s not covered. Once we were able to confirm that it was covered, we were good to go. I'd recommend AHS but you should read the details of the contract, like anything else.

    I went through the web portal to file a claim for a plumbing repair. One thing about the web portal is as I was describing the conditions, it didn't pick up everything. It truncated a lot of it because by the time the electrician got here, he didn't quite understand everything I needed to have done. But we talked that through and he was very knowledgeable and professional. He went above and beyond what I expected him to do. The experience was better than I expected.

    I've had many experiences with claims and AHS is a good secondary insurance to have. I would recommend it to friends and I have. One claim I had was my sump pump but I'm still not quite sure where that is. My sump pump isn't working. I don't have a way of testing it with as much water as we've had. I haven't heard it kick in. When it was installed, there was a lot of water underneath the house. The new sump pump was working overtime to get rid of it. It may have burned out or was installed improperly. I haven’t called back to have that resolved and I don't think I would want the same company.

    I called AHS and the tech was here within two and a half hours of my calling. He fixed the problem. I was really pleased with it. The process was very simple. I didn't have to do anything. But I have an electrical claim that hasn't been fulfilled yet. The tech was triggered to come yesterday, but he talked to me on the phone first so he did not have to come out. When I called in yesterday, I had another circuit breaker problem, which was my initial problem. He told me that he couldn't come out and that he'd have to start a new work order. Therefore triggering me to pay another $75 deductible. But I said I didn't want to do that.     I saw a leakage in my ceiling around the shower area. There was some dampness there. The vendor came over in two to three weeks after I made the complaint. It turned out the leaking was not in the bathroom. It could be something in the piping that is behind the wall, not necessarily for the bathroom, but it’s just a common pipe. He went down to the garage. He cut open the wall and looked into pipes in different locations and turned out that was a showerhead problem that he resolved. And then, there was a lot of dampness in the garage as well so he looked at it. He told me that that could be because of some leakage in my roof, not necessarily with the plumbing, but it was leaking through the plumbing lines, and then dampened the walls.

    I was skeptical about buying a home warranty in the first place, that's why I didn’t buy a warranty until now for my home which I've owned for the last two years. But then, based on my experience, this was the right thing to do. Buying a warranty is a very valuable thing to have for our house because issues do come up, like electrical or plumbing. It was very convenient. The only issue I have there was the wait-time. I was given a lead time of four weeks because the plumbing company was very busy. I would use this service for something that is not urgent. If there is a different response for any emergencies, that would help. Otherwise, for non-emergency situations, I love it. I would use American Home Shield again.

    With our recent claim, we had to have our dryer replaced when we were down here and it was good. But last July, we had flooding in the bathroom and the service was horrible. When we called American Home Shield for service on that, we had the water going into our bedrooms. We had to wait three days and when we finally got a contractor out, they were extremely rude. They were going to leave because they said we were not paying customers. They had other customers who were paying.

    We ended up paying $200 out of our pocket. The contractor broke the pipe in the wall and we had to pay for repairs out of our own pocket. Our homeowners association had to fix the wall. The contractor would never come back and do the repairs. I also paid the service call twice because the water was coming up in two of our toilets. When I called AHS, they were going to take one of our $75 service charges and they never did. It was a horrible experience. I almost canceled our protection on both of our homes that we had. I got so tired of dealing with it and I just said, "Screw it." It was the worst experience I've ever had with a home warranty service in my whole life. I got a running sink on our house at that time for vacation and we were three days without restroom service. They didn't seem to be too concerned that we went all those days without the toilet service.

    The tech had to order a part, and then came back. He was very good at providing information to make the freezer perform better with relationship to where temperature control dial should be in winter and where it should be when it's hotter, which we didn't know about. So, that was informational. He was professional, very friendly and outgoing.

    My claims with American Home Shield have been fine except we had a problem trying to get our air conditioner fixed last year, and it took a tremendous amount of effort. It took my daughter, who's a Realtor, to call American Shield and talk to a representative because they scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and see what the problem was and estimate, and they never showed up. They brought it back and installed it. But after installation, they left and then we realized that there was some extra setup that needs to be done with the new part.     I had a stoppage in the plumbing line and because it's a condo, it unfortunately was leaking in to my neighbor's shower. The tech that was sent through American Home Shield took care of everything that day. The guy came when they said he was going to come. They have a cool system that updated me on when the technician was going to arrive. He was very courteous. He arrived with a mask on.

    I have maintenance guys in the building. So I had them come up and talk to him and show him the different areas of potential issues and explain how the pipes all run together.     The air conditioner stopped working about two weeks ago. The guy who came here spent almost six hours on it and he kept telling me that he had 24 or 34 years of experience. At the end of the whole thing, he said that it was all fixed but I'd see a lot of humidity because it had not been working. He then said that it’d start up on its own in the next 24 hours.

But Max Air Cool could have sent a more experienced person. The one that they sent today was very experienced and he knew what he was doing.

    Our water heater was totaled and I couldn't get any hot water out of it. I had the people that had put it in originally come out and their tech was very good. He replaced the unit. The new codes required that there should be a pressure tank on it now. That had to go along with the water heater that was replaced. By the time the smoke cleared, it was $1,410.     There was water under the sink, possibly coming from the garbage disposal or the dishwasher or the faucet. There was some dripping sound in the downstairs underneath the sink and the faucet was leaking. So, some part on the faucet was leaking, traveling down the lines of the faucet, and they were just dripping under the sink. We submitted a claim with AHS then the tech came out. He said the garbage disposal looked like it was okay, so he couldn't do anything with it. It was weak, but it was working. For the dripping water downstairs, he told me it really wasn't dripping water from the sink. It was just pipes compressing and expanding and tit makes the sound that sounds like a drip. Since he came out, there's no more water under the sink. The service was pretty good and after I got the faucet, the tech came the very next day and put it in.

    I want to have this home warranty thing because it does help me sometimes, especially with the air conditioning and heat pumps. But the website is bad. American Home Shield has to work on that website because I don't want to give my personal property’s information to the other property managers. I have multiple accounts. So, when I give my accounts to the property managers, they are able to see my account too. I don't want them to see my account too. I'm not able to separate the account. And the other one is, if they have to do it, they change the email. I'm not getting any emails from them because the property managers are changing it to their email address.

    When we call AHS, it's hours and hours. It is a long wait, a long wait to even talk to one of the representatives. One time, I had to stay online for an hour. That's not a good thing. I told them at that point, and they said that you were going through some changes. The other problem is, AHS' contracted people are sometimes available and sometimes not. In the Farmville area, where one of the properties is, AHS doesn't have too many contracted people.

    In my personal property, I had a problem with the refrigerator. The first guy came in, and then did nothing and went back. I have a big refrigerator and one freezer. I didn't know that part. The guy that came didn't know that part too. We had to call another guy. That guy came but then he didn't do anything. The third guy just changed the settings. But later, we figured out, “Oh, my God, that could be this.” He didn't even tell us about that. So for that refrigerator thing, it was that many times. Other than that, AHS is good to talk to and I want to keep it just in case I have a major thing.

    There was work done at one point and it required that they have a guy come back out to fix the hole he put in the wall. If I didn't stay on it, it would have never happened. Also, there was a problem where I have to look in my spam email for email correspondence. If I don't do that, then I won't find the follow-up sometimes. They've been very slow. They say it’s COVID. But it's been like that for about a year where it's a little bit slower. But with the most recent claim, Grade A Plumbing came out and did a good job. They were in and out. That worked seamlessly. However, I don't like it when I call up to open a claim with AHS and they make me pay for the visit upfront. But AHS has been good for me.

    Something had fallen in our garbage disposal and made a lot of noise. So, there really wasn't any repair done to it. It was such a shame that it was just a small article that cost me so much to get taken care of. I wanted to get something out of it. So, I asked the plumber from Tiger Plumbing to explain to me the processes of what garbage disposal could or couldn't do and he was very helpful in explaining a little bit more about it.

    The claims submission with American Home Shield is very easy. It's not cheap but that's the way it is. Every time that I've done it, it's very fast and most of the time, it's a really good service. There were a couple of experiences that I had that still linger in my mind. It was last year and wintertime was hitting and I had a really rough time trying to get my burner situated. I was pretty much arguing between American Home Shield and the electrician that had to come out. I was always running around in circles. At the same time, I was freezing because it was cold. So, that was really a bad experience and it was very frustrating. But eventually, it got fixed. Sometimes, some things just go that way and you can’t really hammer over it and frustrate over it. I'm just glad that it has turned out good in the end. Everything else has been fine after that.

    The company sometimes comes through a lot better than some of these so-called professional people, which there can be a lot of different ones of those too. I’m still fighting sometimes with them and that’s another issue with somebody else. But it’s a shame that a lot of them are really good about starting it. But for some reason, they don’t wanna finish. But American Home Shield is so quick about jumping back on it.

    My expansion tank burst. The tech looked at it and turn the water off and on. He even took the expansion tank off and gave us a book 'cause it wasn't covered under my plan. But, he was really courteous and he did a good job. It has been really easy to get through to AHS when I submit claims. The only concern I've had is with my refrigerator. I've made orders on it three times and all the techs do is patch on it and see if it is still not working. I gotta come out with my $75 so I can have them come out and look at it again. Other than that, AHS is pretty good.

    With the overflow of snow and melting and everything came up, there was water coming up. I have a three-car garage, and on each side of the garage is a drain there.     My heater was not working correctly. So I called American Home Shield and it took the contractor about five days to get out here, which is too long. The temperatures had gone down to about 28, close to freezing. Plus, it was due to the power outages here in Texas, so there was a lot of issues going on. American Home Shield should contact the customer as soon as possible when it deals with air conditioning or heating or a broken pipe. Those kind of things are very important to homeowners.

    The part did arrive this week. The service tech provided me with incorrect information. Waiting three months and the difficulty in communicating with AHS was frustrating, but happy to have the dishwasher repaired.

    I opened a service request at the end of November for a dishwasher that won't run because the door latch is broken. The tech ordered a part to complete the fix. The part is on backorder from the manufacturer with no estimate of availability. I've called the tech almost weekly for 3 months for a part status update. I've also called AHS four times for an alternate resolution, possibly replacing the entire door instead of waiting on the latch. Three times they told me the only option would be a full replacement, they would submit for review, and someone from AHS would call back with details once the claim was approved or not approved. I never received a callback.

    On the second and third call, they couldn't give me any information if my request had been reviewed or even sent for review. On my last call to AHS, the rep put me on hold and said they called the tech and the part would be delivered this week. I called the tech today, and they told me that they have no information on a delivery date or when the part will be available to ship.

    The long hold times, unclear communication, and lack of follow-up are extremely frustrating. Falsely stating that the part would be delivered this week is inexcusable. I understand that parts can be on backorder or have shipping delays. Waiting indefinitely for a part (I'm now at 3 months) is unacceptable. I regret using AHS to complete this repair and will switch to another company when my warranty contract expires. Has there been any value with AHS? Sure...creating the service request was easy, but every step since then has been tedious and disappointing.

    The sewer line clogged. We had the water coming out of the metal drain out in the garage. However, it's like I'm paying American Home Shield for contractors to just come out and diagnose what the problem is, and then if I need a part or something or extra, then I have to pay for it myself besides what I'm already paying them. This is the first time I understood what they have done. Because before, I've had the icemaker. It stopped and it was clogged. The tech just came out and unclogged it so I didn't need any part. But now that I need a part, I have to pay for them to come back out. And the plumbers is charging me 200 some odd dollars. I'm gonna pay for the part. He would order the part and I have to pay for him to come back out here and put it part on. And AHS, he said, doesn't cover that. He said all they do is diagnose the problem and that's it.

    My first service call was for the dryer and the microwave. The technician was great. He knew how to repair them. He took apart he dryer and it seemed like one of the sensors failed. So he replaced it. With the microwave, he said something with the timer and then it was making some noise. He took the panel out and he got it to work. He was very professional. He did what he needed to do. I was very happy with the service.

    I signed on with American Home Shield after I got the recommendation from my sister-in-law who started using their service. I was very happy signing on. I then found out that they covered the pool, which I didn't know when I had signed on to the policy. So I called them over the weekend and spoke with a guy that told me that I need to talk to the salesperson about more information for the cost and that I was still within the 60 days to add it to the policy. I said, “Okay.” But I didn't have time at that moment so I said I was gonna call back.

    On Monday, I called back and I spoke with the sales representative who told me that if I would’ve added it on here originally, then I wouldn't have paid the whole fee in one. So she went over what was covered and what wasn't covered. I told her that I have an issue with my pool heater and that the pool pump was not working. She said that the pool pump is not covered, but pool heaters are covered. I have a pool heater and it sounded like it would be covered, so maybe they could take a look in to see what can be done. I paid the service fee and the person from ABNation came out on Wednesday. He was a little rough with me. He said, “Oh, this is it. This needs to be replaced. And this is already rusted and corroded, and Home Shield’s not gonna pay to replace this.”

    I was put off by his response to me and the way he came at me. He was kind of attacking me for even putting in a service call for this because it was broken. I told him that I called somebody else to see if it could be repaired and he said, “No. This can't be repaired.” He went on and on. I told him, “Listen. I didn’t call to scam anyone.” I felt like he was accusing me. He could have been a little nicer. He gave me the paper and told me that either somebody would email or call me from American Home Shield, but I haven't gotten a response yet.

    I didn't know what I read on the website, and I didn't have a contract at the time, but then I saw the email that they sent me the contract after in a link. I looked into it, and it does say preexisting conditions and if things are rusted. I'm not the expert in this of whether things are covered or not covered, but I thought that the pool heater is an item that is covered and could be repaired.

    ABNation emailed me yesterday, asking me about how they were guided and if I needed anything else. So I wrote them back saying that I didn't get a response yet from American Home Shield as to whether or not they were covering to replace the item. Then I went and I looked on the website where I can see that my two service calls say completed but nothing more after that. I was expecting some kind of response within 24 to 48 hours from American Home Shield. When it comes to the combo package of what they cover for the plumbing, electrical, and the appliances, it's worth the service and I've been happy so far. But I'm not so clear about this whole pool thing. I’m still waiting. I’m left in limbo right now.

    I’ve been with AHS for a couple of years now and I've never had any problems. Anytime I filed a claim or paid my money, they always sent somebody out quickly. I had a leak in my toilet. Bestway Mechanical came and tightened the bolts. But there was damage to my bathroom because of the water leak. Todd, who came out, recommended a restoration service. They came out the same day to be able to assess my problem. I was able to file a claim with my homeowners’ insurance and get them to come and repair my bathroom.     I've had American Home Shield for about two years now. I've loved them and had no problem with them until this particular service call. It was extremely frustrating because the whole problem occurred because the person that took the call doesn't have good command of the English language. The first person wrote down, apparently, that there were eight things wrong. It was one thing wrong. My toilet was leaking. The hoses were rotted when I first bought the house and they needed to be replaced. It caused a leak out onto the floor and into the whole part of the house.

    I was trying to explain to her what had happened and why it was so urgent that they send someone right away because I had to turn off the main water line and I didn't know for sure where the water was coming from. Then, I got the notice that said my service order request had been assigned to Hers & His Plumbing and they should be calling me soon. The next day, they hadn't called me so I called them to see when they were coming. I also took the day off of work. When I reached them, the rep was very nice and said, "I'm really sorry, Dr. **, but we can't come out because you have eight things wrong and we only accept five." When I asked her what she was talking about, she explained it. She also said, "You'll have to call American Home Shield and have them cancel the order, send us another service request then we can come out."

    When I called American Home Shield, the person, again, could not understand what I was saying. I know that they have to read a script in response to what you say to them, but she was so bent on getting the script right that she was not listening. I got really upset and asked her to connect me to her supervisor. She couldn't connect me to a supervisor because, apparently, they all work from home in the Philippines. She said she was going to send a message through email to a supervisor and someone would call me.

    A whole 'nother day went by and there was no call from any supervisor. I've got no toilets in my house working and no running water and I have to take another day off of work. I called the following day and I got another rep in the Philippines. That young man was very nice and he said that he could see the notes in the system where the requests had been assigned for a manager to call me, and he didn't know why a manager or a supervisor hadn't called me yet. But he said he was going to escalate the request to the next level so that they could get someone out right away.

    They assigned it to another plumbing company here locally, and the next day, they did come and they repair it very easily and very quickly. But there's absolutely no reason that this should have happened and I'm not sure I'm even gonna renew my contract with American Home Shield because I was so frustrated by that whole event. Given this last incident, I'm very dissatisfied. I don't care that they farm their call center out to the Philippines or Mexico or India or wherever they want to farm it out to, but the criteria should be that the people that they hire should be able to communicate enough to understand that there aren't eight broken toilets in my house. People that have eight toilets don't need a home warranty.

    I sold my mom's house and we signed up for a home protection plan as she was selling it. When I called the home protection plan, they said they were associated with American Home Shield.     We were having issues with a higher voltage power and it ended up being a master circuit breaker. The tech addressed the problem, came back later in the day with a part and fixed it. American Home Shield has an app that makes it easy to submit but it can be a little generic as far as what the problem is. So, we've called a couple of times. It's been easy on the phone and I had very short wait times. The contractor has been responsive and come within the same day or the next. For people who are considering a home warranty, they should run their numbers and see what they think is going to break, and if the warranty is worth it or having emergency fund savings and having it fixed or repaired separately. Typically, I'd had warranties associated with home purchases, which is the only reason I have it.

    We had one key for the front door so we utilized the opportunity to have them rekey, which was what American Home Shield offered. Cathedral City came and was excellent. We have one key now for all of our locks. It was just that we were having problems with American Home Shield getting our policy. We called our Realtor, she called her contact, they called AHS, and AHS reached out to us. I wasn't able to get online yet because I didn't have a contract. They hadn’t sent me anything yet. Nonetheless, they were great. We've only lived in the house for a month and we’ve already utilized them three times.

    I was very happy with the tech who came out. He fixed the problem and he was very pleasant and clean. Everything is working fine now. He also told me that if there was a problem, I should to call the insurance and let them know. But I have no problem so far and he did a good job. I'm also happy with the claims process of AHS. In fact, I was thinking I should call and ask if they have any specials or a longer plan than just one year. Maybe I could save some money that way a little bit.

    Our current claim came out as an unsuccessfully completed claim from another provider. Because of that issue, we opened a new claim and because of the failed previous claim, we were promised that we wouldn't have to pay for this new one. But we had to call several times to make sure that that happened. I got invoiced a couple times for it, which was frustrating. But the contractor came out and replaced a part. It's been good so far. American Home Shield has a great product but their customer service can leave you wanting better.

    The tech that AHs sent out did his job and everything was good. But the hose didn't get put back in correctly, so now we have a flooded laundry room and we’re still trying to clean and soak up all the water in the carpet. This weekend, we've got to completely move out the washer and dryer, as well as the freezer, to get the carpet from underneath there. I haven’t said anything to anybody at AHS and we had just been cleaning it up as we've been going along, trying to make sure we don't get the mold in the house. Other than that, there is no customer service anymore from AHS. You call, they immediately charge you your money, and that’s it. There’s no feedback and it's all computerized. So the computer can't do wrong and there’s no interaction with people. But besides that, the guy who came out did great.

    The refrigerator was not getting cold. I called AHS then they sent a tech out. His name was Abdul and he was good. He followed all the safety guidelines and diagnosed the problem. He said that the compressor was not working, so at least he let me know what the problem was. All in all, I tell others that AHS is really good. But I had one bad experience with them where I had an issue with Sears. Otherwise, I love AHS and I have no problem.

    Initially, I didn't feel great about the contractor for my furnace claim, Air Dynasty. They were pushing me to buy a whole new system and they were trying to charge me $13,000. The whole time, they were trying to not go through a warranty company. They just wanted me to do it out of pocket, which didn't feel great.     My dryer was making a lot of noise all of a sudden. It sounded like the rotator area was coming loose. The people from American Home Shield that I called gave me a name quickly and they texted me the name of the place. I set up a time with the contractor and their tech came out as quickly as he could and took care of it. He was very good, prompt, polite, and personable. He was on time and he got right down to it. He explained what the situation was, what he was doing and how long it'd take.

    I've had a few claims in the past and American Home Shield have been good except for one. I had a plumbing leak on Thanksgiving Day. I did what I could to stop it. I couldn't just let it keep going. So I tried to reach American Home Shield and I couldn't get an answer. So I went ahead and did the work. It was just a simple repair and it wasn't a massive amount.     It smelled like burning plastic and it was coming from the furnace. It might start a fire if I use it so I had to turn it off. I called American Home Shield and it was great when the tech came out. We had no problem at all. He was timely, prepared and knowledgeable. He had all the equipment he needed and even had the motor with him. It just happened that he had the size. He had been here a year or so ago so he probably knew what kind I had. He was up there for about 10 minutes replacing the motor. The furnace is in the ceiling but the thing on the side of the house was also leaking and he went out there and did something. Everything is working beautifully.

    Something in the microwave was hot and it somehow melted the little three-prong deal inside there that the turntable sits on or connects to. The door itself had a crack in it. So, the repairmen came out and replaced that, and then replaced the turntable. They were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. They did a good job. We were also having some issues with our oven heating up, but we still haven't heard anything regarding the parts. I didn't like that.     I had a bad gas initiator. When I submitted the claim, all I had to do was call and request my claim and make my deductible payment by phone. Then a day later, they called and said they were gonna send somebody out. They got on the problem really quickly. That was great. The guy came in and looked at it. He said it needed to be replaced. So he replaced that. He also said that I needed a motor and I needed to have a vent sealed. Some other guys came out and they handled that. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They explained to me and showed me what was going on so that I would know. It was a good experience. I'd tell anybody to get AHS. It's great to have, especially with this pandemic. You have to pay bills and you don't have that extra money to pay for something that breaks down. All you have to do is pay your deductible and it’s handled.

    The refrigerator went out. We lost everything in the freezer. It made the box itself stinky and I tried cleaning that with baking soda and some other stuff but I couldn't get the smell out of it. The guys from Good Guys Home Repair said that they would recommend that it be replaced. I had to deal with sending it into somebody that's going to make a decision on how much American Home Shield is going to pay. They're going to want to pay me the amount that the Good Guys Home Repair people said it would take to fix it. They're taking Good Guys Home Repair at their word.

    We bought a new refrigerator and I don't know how to handle what American Home Shield wants us to do at this time. There's something about sending in the receipt then somebody would determine how much they were going to pay. They did and it was like $500-something. This refrigerator has been repaired numerous times. We fixed the refrigerator about four times with the same situation with the freezer freezing everything on the refrigerator side and for what it took to fix it on some of the repairs, it wasn't $75.

    I've been with American Home Shield in the last four homes that I have owned and for what I've paid in, I probably paid for that refrigerator and they weren't into buying me a new refrigerator so I'm not happy with them. I'm going to continue to have it on my home because it's easier for me to pay month by month to have things protected in my home but it's more aggravating sometimes to have to deal with the claim through them.

    In my current home, I have a jacuzzi tub and the little impeller on it doesn't always seem to work. If you open the panel and tap it with a knife, it'll start working. A couple of times the contractor came out, I paid $75 and they fixed it. They said they got a rock out of it which is kind of normal. If you worked hard, you might have that in your hair. But that's about what they've done. I've not wanted to use American Home Shield in the past because I'm kind of tired of paying $75 for a little trivial repair that, if somebody can look at it and diagnose what it is, then it's fixed.

    American Home Shield sent somebody out three times and the stoppage would go away, but then it would come back a day or two later. It has been two weeks now. The people they sent don't have a camera to put down the pipe and see what is causing the stoppage. All they do is snake it. And they said their company doesn't use cameras and that they don't have them. They do the best they can with the equipment they have. Like the last time they came, we ran the water in the house for 15 minutes and it was all still going down, but when you flush the toilet and put toilet paper in the toilet, then after a while, the toilet paper starts to gather wherever it is. And then it starts stopping the water.

    I asked AHS to send somebody different or at least have somebody that has the equipment they need to determine what's wrong with it. The first time we called them back, the guy would escalate it and see if they could get somebody else sent out. This was last Friday. And then he said somebody will call us but nobody ever called. So, I called them back yesterday and they were gonna escalate it again. I then called them today and the guy said that they were going to send out the same plumbers one more time. And then if they still didn’t fix it, then they would send somebody else. But I'm still waiting for them to call me back to see what time they’re gonna come.

    Crouse Home Services put in the new faucet and did some work on our toilets. They were professional and friendly. But one thing with the faucet that they put in, there is still a metallic taste in that particular water that comes out of that. It's in the kitchen. They tested it and said that it might be the newness of the faucet. But it has been about a week since their people have been out here again to look at it and the taste hasn't improved.     Our furnace went out when the electricity was out here in Texas. We went online immediately on Monday morning and we got a quick response. We got an email saying that someone had been assigned and the contractor showed up Tuesday night at 7:30, which was amazing considering the situation we were in here in Texas. The guy assessed the problem and found out there was a motor that had self-destructed. He said they may have trouble getting the part and that he would call immediately when it’s available and get it installed. I was contacted and I was told that all the warehouses are closed because there's no electricity.     My drain was backed up. There’s water coming out of the bottom of the toilet. I went up online and made an appointment for service. The contractor called me to tell me they were coming out. The tech inspected the problem then told me what he can do and not do. He also told me how much it was gonna cost more to pull up my toilet to fix it as well as what the insurance would cover. If they are going to pull up the toilet, it's going to be $385 just to fix it. I told him I didn't have the money to fix it like that. In the end, he didn't do anything because he said it was not covered on the home insurance. That aside, it’s good to have a home warranty to fix your appliances and stuff.

    The first time the tech came out, he changed the thermostat on our water heater because the thermostat was bad. It worked for one day, and then, I had to call them back out again, because it was cold water again. He noticed it was tripping it but he thought it was because the temperature on the top was different from the temperature on the bottom. He adjusted that and reset that. Then, he said in about 45 minutes, it should be hot again. It was hot, but it only lasted a day. It's ice cold again. So, I have them coming out tomorrow morning, between 8:00 and 9:00.

    I'm okay with the claim process of AHS. But I have called them out for other things where it wound up costing me out of my pocket that I wasn't real happy about. I don't know if I'm going to keep them after this year or not. I keep thinking I don't want to, but then, stuff like this happens. But when I had a claim on the refrigerator because the ice maker wasn't making any ice, they fixed that problem. I would recommend AHS to someone else because they've done me justice except for what I've had to pay out of pocket.

    I call American Home Shield for my claims and it's usually, easy. Most of the time, I've had good experiences as well. One time though, we had a repair that was supposed to be done, and then the item that was supposed to be repaired was broken more. Apart from that, there was no problem with the technician when he came. He was pleasant. There was supposed to be another company that came out and they never did. So, it's still broken.

    One of the GFCI plugs went out. I made a claim with Home Shield and that was easy. I just pushed the tab then hit a little note. They knew exactly what to do. There is a big old listing of what is covered on the house so whatever issue is close to that is what I put on there. I then put a little note on there of what exactly the problem is. The contractor gave me a call ahead of time to set up an appointment. On the day of, the contractor gave me a call about an hour before the tech came over. He came over, asked what was going on, pointed it out, and did his job. He was out of here within five minutes. That was easy. The plug is back to normal and it's good. The GFCI that went out was controlling my security system so my day-to-day was all off because we had no security in the house. Getting that fixed improved the security around the house. I tell homeowners I know about Home Shield. You can’t go wrong with it.

    Accurate Service did a good job for us. They came out, tried to diagnose the issue and then they thought that it was fixed. then it acted up within the time period that it was not supposed to act up. They came back out and diagnosed it and fixed it. They were very professional. They were really good to work with. When they schedule an appointment, every time that they have given us a time window, they've been right on it. The technician who came out was great. He showed on up on time and was professional. He seemed to fix the issue pretty quickly. So, all in all, it was a good experience.

    We have another service call that’s pending. The cooktop on our range cracked while we were using it. Accurate Service Company was dispatched. They came out and took pictures. So now, we're waiting to see what the decision is. Other than that, we're really glad that we have the protection. The American Home Shield website is very easy to use. The only issue that I've had with it is where I go to renew the contract. My contract would be up in two days and I was going to call and see what my options were because it wasn't giving any options on the website.

    One of my faucets of my bathroom sink was leaking. I called and they said that they would send me those things on the inside. The water here in New York is so bad that it corroded the inside of the faucet. When we took the handle off, it was all corroded and you couldn't fix it. It had to be replaced. So, AHS is gonna be sending me another handle The tech said he could come back and I could ask for a do-over. He said that AHS wouldn't charge me another $100 because the problem wasn't fixed. He was very polite. Everybody at AHS is helpful and they listen to me. They are concerned and they make sure everything is okay. I also like the idea that they followed up right away.

    The dipstick of the hot water heater went out. We weren't getting enough hot water. From the time we submitted the claim to the time we got it fixed, it took about three days because it was during the snowstorm. It wasn’t bad though. It was still warm. It just wasn’t as hot as we would like it to be. When the tech came, he had the part. He did well. We've been part of American Home Shield for 15 plus years, and it’s been very beneficial.     I had an issue with American Home Shield when it was difficult to get an appointment. There wasn't good communication from the people working in the office.     We've had American Home Shield for 25 years or so. I had two policies with them. But I'm letting them run out. American Home Shield just got too expensive and we weren't happy with some of the services that we received over the past couple of years. I thought they were supposed to do a replacement if they couldn't repair something. The air conditioner went out on my tenants' place three times in the same summer during the hottest part of the year. Technicians just kept coming out and putting a Band-Aid on. The air conditioner worked for two weeks then it would go out again. They recommended that I call American Home Shield and say the thing was shot. They can keep replacing it and replacing it but it was going to go out every other week.

    American Home Shield said that as long as they can keep fixing it, they were not going to replace it. I couldn't allow my tenants to go on any further. It was 120 degrees out here in Hemet and it gets that hot in the summer. I ended up replacing the air conditioner out of pocket which cost me $7,000. All American Home Shield would give me was a couple of hundred dollars towards replacing it. That was the final straw though I still kept them another couple of years. I was mad about that situation.

    There was also a claim where Accord Appliance came out and verified there was a problem with my tenant's dishwasher. It needed parts. They said they would put them on order. My tenant has been calling and calling but it's still the same. I called last week after I talked to American Home Shield and they said, “The parts are on order. That's the best we can do. We have no control over when they get here. With this COVID, it’s slowed everything down.” I understood that. I said I would just call once a week till they get here. A rep called back yesterday and made an appointment for the technicians to come out on Monday to fix the dishwasher. They finally got the parts in about two months.

    This time around, my tenant’s refrigerator and icemaker went out. Technicians came out and said they could fix it but they would have to shut the whole thing down. This meant they were going to have to take out the main board of the thing, take it into their shop, and it would be about two to three weeks before they could get it back in service. Nobody can do without a refrigerator nowadays.

    American Home Shield said, “Forget about it. We'll do the buyout thing.” They were going to take about $300 in a buyout. My tenants waited and they kept calling and asking for the money. American Home Shield said that the check was in the mail. Finally, I called because it had gone on long enough. My tenants wanted to get the buyout so they could go out and buy themselves a new refrigerator but they needed the money to at least put towards it. American Home Shield told me, "That ain't the way it works. They have to buy the new refrigerator first and then send us a copy of the invoice or receipt.”

    I called and my tenant said, “We can't buy a refrigerator now. I guess we just have to live with what we've got until we can afford to buy another refrigerator when things get better and we can all get back to work.” I wasn't really happy about that and that was the final nail in the head. When my policy ran out here at my own home, I let it run out. I already signed up with another company which gave me a great deal over a three-and-a-half-year period. I did the same thing with the other house. I was given a deal on that too. It turns out that the warranty companies all use the same contractors. Also, American Home Shield's call-out fees was going to $80 this year for me and the yearly annual cost was almost $900 a year from $700. That was too much of a jump. My warranty on the other home is going to end early next week and my other policy picks up right where that leaves off. I'm just waiting so I can get this squared away and move on.

    I don't understand why American Home Shield is one of the most expensive out there now. They used to be the most reasonable. I was really happy in past years that was why I was with them for so long. But over the past couple of years, things have changed. You almost can't talk to a real person anymore and that was fine with me. I only had one or two problems a year and my claims were all done online. I was pretty satisfied with that. The contractors always followed through. The contractors would tell me that they put in a suggestion for a replacement but American Home Shield would tell me that they would to fix the problem as long it could be fixed.

    American Home Shield is more of an average company now than they were a good company. This year, it wasn't all just bad service. It's just things have changed. They don't do anything and I can't see paying more if they're not going to do anything. Hopefully, after everything scores away and we're back to normal or as close to it as we can get after this pandemic thing is over, things will change for everybody including American Home Shield.

    My dryer just completely stopped working. Fixon Appliance was able to come out and verify that it was the control panel. They had to place an order for that and it took a couple of days to come in. They were able to get back out that weekend and fixed it for me. The claims submission was really easy and I was told that it would probably be about a week for a technician to come out. But they were able to do it in a couple of days which was pretty cool.     I had a garbage disposal that wasn't coming on. I went online and did the request for service. The guy was supposed to come between 12:00 and 3:00, but he called me earlier to see if it was okay for him to come, and he came. Something was caught in the garbage disposal and he was able to quickly fix it. He told me about resetting the garbage disposal. He was efficient and timely. He did a good job.

    I reached out to American Home Shield before so the claims process was user-friendly. When they send out people to repair, it works out well. But I had a couple of times where I had to meet with customer service and it seemed so programmed or robotic. It's like they're not listening to you as the customer. Sometimes, there's a language barrier. But when they recommend service, the different vendors have been okay. I will recommend them.

    The technician may have taken care of an immediate problem, but then, the issue reoccurs. I don't know how to take care of that problem. When I tried to call the repair company, I said, “Well, it’s still not quite working properly.” They said, “Well, you have to call the insurance.” In other words, they don't come back for another visit to take care of the same problem. The technician was fine when he was here, but there should be a bit more of a follow-up. I understand it was a different problem, but it seems like it's the same. I set the thermostat, and sometimes, it will go on, but sometimes, I have to reset the thing.

    Just this morning, my wife said, “Well, the thermostat’s set at 75. But then, the room is 73 or 72,” so I had to go down the basement. There’s a switch and I had to turn it off, and then turn it on again. If this thing keeps going the way it is, then I have to pay another service call, which is $100. That’s what happened last time. This past visit is the second time they came and it's not quite keeping the thermostat again. I'm disappointed in AHS because of that. I paid twice already.

    Southern Comfort HVAC has been here four times and the furnace is still not working. I feel bad for the young guys that have come out here. They've been awesome and if they don't have the parts or the thing doesn't work, it's not their fault. They've had to come out and check it out, and they had to order a part to see if that would work. That didn't work. I was approved for a new furnace and they came out with it but couldn't install it because some part was missing. They got that part and came back. The furnace is still not working and this is during the coldest time of the year. They had to order another part and I had ended up paying $400 more than I was told in the beginning that I would have to pay. I had already paid over 1,000 and it's very frustrating. I don't know when they're coming back. The people I've talked to on the phone are so genuine and I love doing business with them. I just would like to have a furnace that works.
