    I feel very confident about submitting claims with American Home Shield. The technician was very professional. He took the time to explain what the problem was. And more importantly, he fixed it. I have to follow up about a service we’re supposed to have completed. I know there were some parts that needed to be ordered for our microwave and washing machine. But other than that, everything has been going good so far.

    I have an active water leak in the yard and yesterday I scheduled an appointment with them for a plumber to come out and take a look. They said no problem and the plumber will be there between 10 and 12 tomorrow. This morning I wake up and somebody calls from a toll-free number so I let it go to voicemail and they leave a message that they could not find a plumber to come out and that they need to cancel the appointment. Keep in mind this is for an active water leak and I could’ve had somebody else come out but instead they booked it for 24 hours with the water running into the yard and then called to say, "Guess what? We couldn’t ever find a plumber..."

    Do not ever use this company if you are in need of anything serious. When I called them back they even have the audacity to say that it’s “no big deal”. They said the earliest they can reschedule was for the 26th which is three days from the original booking... with an active water leak. Do not ever use them if whatever you’re trying to fix is of any value.

    My microwave would not turn on. A technician came out and repaired it by changing a part that was needed. He fixed it and did a wonderful job. He was very knowledgeable about what he was doing and he explained everything. He also reminded us not to slam the microwave. The microwave started working again. American Home Shield provides excellent service. When I call them, I get quality service from the service providers they use.

    I renewed my contract with American Home Shield because they have people in my area that are good technicians for what we needed to do. It’s also easy to get a claim started, but it’s like pulling teeth when the people that they hire out to come out and do repairs aren’t doing the repairs. I called American Home Shield a month before thanksgiving and it took them two and a half months for the people doing the repairs to get back to us on whether or not they were going to fix our stove and our fridge for us. When I kept calling the American Home Shield for support on this, they just kept saying, “Well, they’re saying that the parts are on backorder.”

    We had to go two and a half months for Christmas dinner and Thanksgiving dinner with no stove or oven. With kids, it was a pain. Every time I tried to call American Home Shield, I just kept getting the, “Well, they’re saying that it can be repaired, so we’re going to repair it.” No one’s repairing it though. It was a bad experience on that part, but when the people that come out are good technicians, I have no issue. Our house as a whole had been backed up somehow recently. When we contacted American Home Shield to set up the appointment with Taylor Plumbing, Mr. Taylor himself reached out to us promptly and was able to set up arrangements to come out. He wasn’t able to come out the same day, but he came out first thing in the morning and took care of it.

    Mr. Taylor was extremely professional. When he realized that it was outside of the contract area, he repaired what was required as of the contract area, and then notified me that he’s going to help me this one time, even though it wasn’t part of the contract. It was just so that we can make sure we get running water back in the house because we had kids. He informed me to where the contract covers, where it doesn’t cover it, what the separation is, and how it works. He was so good with it that I hired him for an additional job later.

    I advise people to make sure the coverage they are purchasing covers the specifics in which they have in their house. I would also recommend that American Home Shield sends them a contract before signing up so they can confirm what the contract is versus what they’re paying for so that there are no discrepancies in what the agreed terms were.

    We had one of the air conditioning preseason services done and it was fairly easy to schedule. The guy who came out was great. He was very personable and friendly. This is the first time we've used American Home Shield and went through Doctor Cool. I told them when I talked to them that I will ask for him every time I have a service on my air conditioner or furnace. I've got a couple of people that are with AHS and I've read the reviews. Most are good and some are bad. It's always scary when you have somebody come out and they're saying this is wrong. But right now, I'm very happy.

    The water heater wasn't producing hot water. I tried to file the claim on the web but it wasn't working. You'd fill it in and then submit it, then it’d say, “Something went wrong. Try again later.” So, I tried to call and they told me that they would contact me that evening or tomorrow to set up a time. The contractor contacted me the next day and we set an appointment for them to come out. I was very pleased that they came out and solved the problem promptly. While the technician was out, there was some additional work that I would like done so I asked him if he would like to them. He said that he would and he gave me a price. He said that he would be back on a specific day and he never showed up and never called.

    I've called American Home Shield a couple of times and they've addressed the issues I've had. Also, submitting claims has been seamless. I call them, they assign a contractor, and usually, the contractor calls back within a day and schedules an appointment. Recently, we were having water leakage in the basement. The guy from Aaron Plumbing inspected the sump pump. He was knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. He got it working and since then, we haven't had any problems with it.

    The hot water heater was making sort of a little low whistling noise. When I Googled it, it said it could be anything from nothing to it getting ready to blow up. So I had a professional come and let me know that everything was fine. She was wonderful. I asked her if she was ever given a hard time because she was a woman, and she didn't elaborate.     About a week ago, we started smelling gas behind our gas range. The gas company came out and detected a leak. They said we needed to get a plumber out here to find the leak and get it fixed. This is a severe gas issue and American Home Shield is sending out these small organizations that do not have the proper tooling and equipment. Now, they're going through the hassle of trying to find a fourth plumber to send out. Our range is still disconnected and we haven't had a range in over a week. I told them I either needed to get my case elevated or they needed to refund all my service contracts for the warranty.

    Also, when I call in, there's a language barrier between me and the individual on the other end of the phone. I was trying to confirm if they were going to dispatch a fourth plumber and hear back from them and the response was, “Okay, so you need another plumber.” There's a disconnect and because of that, my frustrations are not necessarily heard the first time. It gets really frustrating when you're on the phone with them. I don't feel that we've gotten our money's worth out of it at all.

    We had an icemaker that quit working and when we called AHS to submit a claim, the rep we spoke with was very professional. We were told that the techs would be out within 24 to 48 hours from the time that we got the call and when they did, they were outstanding. But you don't repair those icemakers, you have to replace them. So, they ordered a new one, which took about seven days to come in, and they installed it. But for some reason, that particular refrigerator is prone to icemakers not working or failing. It quit working again for the third time, so they're replacing the refrigerator. We submitted what they asked for and we're getting what they call an E-card for Lowe's. We would go down to Lowe's, pick it out, then they'd deliver and set it up. All in all, I would tell my neighbor that he'd better get AHS, too.

    The furnace wasn't working. The house would just get very cold. We called AHS. The guy came out there and he was quickly able to assess what the issue was. There was some sensor that we would never have known to check and he just wiped the sensor off, and it fixed everything. It was really a quick fix and we were super happy.

    With the rekey claim, the tech was professional and pretty fast, didn't take very much time. He worked from his van that was parked on the curb of the property. Then recently, my dryer wasn't turning on. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent out a local guy. He came and diagnosed the problem. Just the fact that it took several days for him to come back and fix it was off-putting, but it wasn't super pressing. That was done in a matter of 20 minutes. Also, the fact that I paid only 75 bucks kinda makes it worthwhile. It worked out.

    The tenants had not cleaned the gutters on a property that I own, so the water ran over the gutter and the ice formed on the fan. The unit was vibrating violently. It was off balance, so the repair person threw some hot water on it, and now it works perfectly. It was addressed very well. I haven't had any trouble submitting claims to American Home Shield as well. I'm a real estate agent and some of my clients have had trouble once in a while. If they want to talk with somebody, they have to wait a long time. I usually have to wait 20 minutes to get ahold of somebody. That's the biggest thing I've heard. Even in our office, they said the biggest problem with the home warranty company is getting ahold of somebody when they call in.

    A plumber came out for my hot water heater, but since it wasn't leaking, even though it was making noise, he couldn't do anything about it. He hated to take my $100 that I pay American Home Shield just to come out and tell me this, because I stated clearly when I set up the appointment with American Home Shield that it was making noise. The plumber said when the hot water hits the cold water in the tank, that's when it starts making noise. He said to keep an eye out and if it leaks, then I can call them back and then they'll be able to replace my hot water heater. Other than that, the plumber was very nice and professional.

    I called American Home Shield because I don't want to wake up to a flooded garage. We're supposed to wait until it floods is what the plumber was saying. But there has to be a way a plumber can actually tell that a hot water heater needs to be replaced. Because I do have the highest contract. So I would think American Home Shield would say, "This is what you can do." But plumbers are at a standstill. All they can do is come out and see if there's anything wrong. If nothing's noticeable, then they can't do anything about it. So their hands are tied. Then you pay your $100 regardless.

    It's really hard to get ahold of anybody at American Home Shield. I've tried many times calling and nobody answers, but you have to go online and send an email out. Sometimes they don't take it because you haven't made payment. But sometimes you don't need to make payment. You just want to reach out to somebody. But overall, American Home Shield haven't actually done me wrong. I've used them a few times. Nothing major. But just for my own safety-wise. If I want something checked, I'm gonna call them out because I'm covered. I would recommend them, but they're going to have to tweak their customer service a little bit.

    It was a smooth experience with my dishwasher claim. I went online, submitted the claim and then they proceeded to send me a technician who looked at it. It was replaced and now I’m waiting for installation. I also had submitted a claim for an ejector pump, but that one was not resolved. I was disappointed with that one. On the American Home Shield website, there's no category for a sink ejector pump. So I was dealing with them for almost six weeks, calling almost on a daily basis to follow up and they kept giving me the runaround. I just gave up.

    I called AHS to submit a claim. There was a shutoff valve underneath my toilet that broke. If I turned it on, water just spurted all over. It didn't take me long to get ahold of anybody at AHS. Usually, it takes forever. But this time, it was really quick. The techs who came were also very professional, very personable and made sure they cleaned up everything underneath real good. It was very nice.

    I am happy with the service of AHS now. I was not happy with the service before. There are shorter wait times on the telephone when I call and the people that come out now seem to be more professional. I had one tech out here one time and he was absolutely wonderful. He went over and above. But some of the contractors, I just didn't like. Also, when I've called to get somebody to come out, I couldn't understand the English of the people that I talked to on the telephone at all. I also do not like the fact that when I had my microwave went out, they told me I had to get one of theirs. I didn't want what they offered. It wasn't what I had before.

    American Home Shield is a real good company as far as getting a response back to the clients. The only problems that we’re having are the contractors that they're sending out. We thought it would be some company but most of the time, it's some mom-and-pop coming out and trying to fix the problems. And they would come out two or three times before we really get results.

    Ray Stovall Plumbing came out for our sink and when they came out the first time, we explained to them what was going on with the faucet and how it was leaking. The tech put some kind of glue on the nozzle of the faucet and claimed he fixed it. But under the sink, he didn’t do anything that we could see. We called back and told them the same thing. He came out the second time and I showed him pictures. It was leaking from the faucet because it had some little holes in it and he changed the whole faucet out.

    AirMax had some issues with our furnace and the way it was connected incorrectly before. They were able to fix the problem, but they did have to come back out a second time to get everything working correctly. But overall, they actually did really well. They would call and promise to do this, but I never heard about it again. Or they needed to do something else to tighten up the work, I didn't hear from them again.     This faucet is the third time I'm paying $100 to call for. The first one came in and said that there was a piece that was broken. Then I told him that that piece controls the water temperature. They said because that piece was missing, they couldn't do anything. I paid again. They came and said the same thing. The last time that came, the guy was efficient. But what he did was not properly done. He just kept managing it. There's already a hole from my second floor to the living room because of the faucet leaking. It needs to be changed. There was one who came to ask what is behind it and I said that it's another shower. He looked at it to be something difficult and didn't want to do it. I called American Home Shield to explain to them. They said I should call the company. They didn't want to listen to me. They should listen to their customers.

    I also had an issue with my cooktop. Thie contractor came out and replaced it. When it cracked after a year, they came in and told me that it was not normal wear and tear. I called again and they refused to purchase a new stove again. Those were some issues that I was not happy with. But I was paying my money and even due to the fact that AHS even stepped up the monthly without letting me know. With all the other aspects, they were good and they did the work.

    My toilet didn't flush. I made the call on the weekend and the first available appointment was on a Tuesday. When the tech came out, he went right to the job, did it, and got out. The toilet flushes beautifully now. AHS is a lifesaver and I would tell others that it would be much better going through their warranty than going to a regular plumber. I did that at first and the tech was going to charge me a lot of money just to do a snake and he was here for five minutes.

    I only have one complaint. Anytime there's a situation where American Home Shield cannot address the issues through their normal process, and they have to ask the person, like myself, to go and solicit their own individual to do the work and stuff, then there's a problem when that happens. Typically, the problem is because if I have to solicit someone to do the work outside of AHS, the likelihood is they are not going to be a vendor that AHS ever used before. And because of that, although that's not denied, AHS will allow you to do that, they expect that vendor to operate the same way as the in-house vendors operate with AHS. And I've had issues with that.

    I had some plumbing work that needed to be done. They wanted the person that was going to do the work to call them before they did the work, which they did call them before they did the work. Told them what was needed, and what had to be done to fix the problem. But AHS wanted to know about the cost of the parts and where they were buying the parts. And then the vendor did not want to give that information out. And the person that was working here didn't deal with that part. That was handled internally by someone else within their company.

    And because of that, AHS would not pay for the cost, and that's not fair. Because it’s one thing for a vendor to register with your warranty company and agree to the terms. But if they're not registered with your warranty company, they don't have to abide by those rules. And I'm sure they're trying to cut cost. I get it. It's a valid concern. But if the cost is less than 1% difference, I don't see why that's an issue. Other than that, I have four houses on AHS and everything is going great.

    The thermostat was clicking on and off but the heater pump was not engaging. The tech said the motherboard on the unit went out. He had a spare one on his truck which was great and he got it fixed the same day. But we were five days without a heater because we had to wait for the time then the company. That's one of the things that we found out. When you go through the home warranty, you got to wait an extra day or two normally than you would if you call them directly. I’d like AHS to have a faster service call time. One time, 24 hours passed. I went back on and it said that I needed to contact that company directly to get them to come out. But in the past, they had contacted the company for me. I didn’t get an email response that I had to do that. It was a good thing I checked.

    I know that the cost of labor is going up in this country to get quality people. But there's one time when I had to talk to a gentleman from out of the country. He got the job done but I had to make sure that we were both on the same page. The call probably took twice as long than it needed to be. But the other lady I talked to before, she sounded like she was from Tennessee and she was really good. She was very down-home to earth kind of person. Other than those, everything has been good. I'm glad my realtor snuck AHS in on the contract because we’ve had to use it.

    Our hot water heater was replaced and that cost us another $300. I question that because we had to upgrade it. All the techs did was put new piping in. They just replaced old copper piping and put a wrapping around it. I thought "I paid $300 for that?" I also had three guys for a toilet issue but only two reported. There was a missing part and the guy who was in first said that they didn't replace toilets. I asked if he could fix my toilet and the tech said no as the issue was a missing part. I said that maybe the guy who had tried to fix it took that part. The tech said there was no record of that. It was frustrating.

    When I have to call back for a second issue or when the techs don't fix it right, American Home Shield has an attitude. They have more of an attitude now than they ever did. Still, I've had a pretty good experience with them. The people they send out have been pretty good. They're courteous and they do the work. Also, $75 for a visit is reasonable to me.

    I've had multiple claims with American Home Shield, and I'm happy with the results and the way they handled them. The only thing is, is after you submit the ticket in with AHS, you don't know if the vendor is gonna call you or are you gonna get called back. You have to log in and check the account because sometimes the email doesn't go through. I had an issue one time like that and I didn't know I had to call the vendor to schedule. I didn't get a call back, so I checked my account two days later. It said, “You've got the vendor at this number.” I thought, “Well, then I just wasted two days, instead of just calling.”

    It wasn’t like that with my recent one though. I had the claim logged in and I just refreshed the page. A couple hours later, and it was, “Oh, call the vendor.” The vendor communicated well. They came out, identified the problem, resolved the situation, and was done within an hour. It was a quick and easy fix. I'm still keeping American Home Shield, and I'm hopefully gonna continue using them.

    I had an issue with the plumber recently. He came out to look at the hot water heater and he tested the pressure. He said there was no leak, the pressure is fine, and I have hot water. He said there was nothing wrong with it. He told me that it had to be drained and he told me how to do it but he did not tell me the correct way to do it. Also, it turned out that the water pressure wasn't fine and was rather low. I just had another plumber come in because I had a sink stopped up. I asked American Home Shield if the new plumber could look at the hot water heater because the other guy did nothing. I also asked if I would have to be charged for it and the rep said they can have the plumber look at it at no charge but I was charged anyway. But the second plumber did a good job.

    The wiring was burnt clear off the inside of the water heater and the tech did a good job. He was very quick, efficient and knew what he was doing. I was happy with it. American Home Shield replaced the water heater. I had to pay for some extra costs to bring stuff up to code but that’s understandable. The claims process was smooth. You can call them and put in a claim or do it online. With AHS, it seems like every year, you got to at least have the air conditioner fixed. It's an older one, but either way, they seem to get somebody out here right away and get it fixed up for me. AHS was great and the service was good.

    We moved into our house in August. Having the peace of mind of not having to replace something extremely expensive as soon as we moved in was really helpful. I have a two-year-old and I have to be worrying about her and not about appliances. The first thing we had to do was change a garbage disposal that was already leaking.     Dalton the plumber fixed the hot water handle that I couldn't turn all the way backwards to the wall. He also fixed my toilet flush. This was the second time that AHS sent someone out and since the last guy came to the house three months ago, the toilet flush has broken again. I was very pleased with Dalton. He was very nice, professional, and knowledgeable.

    But, I have been disappointed with AHS a couple of times. We thought that some of the items next to our swimming pool were on the policy but they were not. Because of the freeze, my heater went out which is going to be very costly. There are also a few valves that need to be replaced. AHS said that the pool wasn't included in my policy so I just had to go with that.

    Also, we had just bought a brand-new washing machine and dryer and because of the corrosion in the wall of our older home, Home Shield really fought with us. I circled on one of the sheets that I have in the policy where it says that they do cover corrosion and things that are worn over time. My oldest daughter had to get involved. She talked to a supervisor, Al, who then made the contractor come out because my issue was covered.

    We were supposed to have the house rekeyed and but we only have two doors to be rekeyed, the front door and the door leading to the patio. The company AHS recommended said they don't come out to do just that. They would have to replace the doors and I thought that was ridiculous. I'm tired of going back and forth with AHS every time I need a claim.

    Shortly after the winter storm, what happened was our electricity came on. Atmos started to send through gas to everybody. What Air Majesty and the builders told me was I have a little bit more elaborate train system in my house. And so, it turned on, but it didn't heat. I've tried it again, and it didn't heat. It has this mechanism in it that Air Majesty told me that after two tries, it'll shut itself down. That was very helpful for them because by the time they came and turned it on to get it working, it was the third time. They said if I would have turned it on, waited a while the third time, if Atmos sent enough gas through, the system would have just started working right away. So, they helped me understand a little bit more about the system I have.

    As far as the claims process with American Home Shield, I've never had any difficulties. Sometimes, I call. This last time, I did an online request. They responded fairly quickly and assigned Air Majesty to it. During all of that, it took them a couple of days to get to me, but that was fine because the weather was warming up and we were fine here and we had another place to go if we really needed to. So, as far as scheduling, I don't think I've ever had any issues with them getting on schedule. The one thing I like now is that we're not giving the money to the provider to come out and do the work. We're paying it. Then you're not charged until the work is completed.

    Regardless of the age of your home, you should have some type of coverage. What American Home Shield has provided us over the years, which in this house, they're covering even more things under the contract I took out of this year. Heating, cooling and electrical have always been my job too. But I also noticed plumbing and several other things on this contract that I don't think I've had in the past. So, I feel even more comfortable knowing that they're there to call and send someone qualified out to do the work.

    We've been satisfied. In the 15 years, I've only had one company come to my house that did not provide what was asked for but AHS turned around and sent another company out like the next day. That company became my heating and cooling in my old house until we sold it. What I would like to see is that we could ask for a certain company to come out. SInce I had a good experience with Air Majesty, I would like to be able to ask for them to come out instead of AHS just assigning somebody. Other than that, the people they’ve sent out have been noteworthy of getting the work done. But I would like to ask for a certain company if I could.

    I had a refrigerator that quit working. It wasn't keeping stuff cold. The repairman thought that the relay had gone on the computer board. But it had fried, and the compressor was out on it. He replaced both. Then he looked at my washing machine because it intermittently won't drain. It also didn't have any codes and he couldn't get it to do it. We thought the drain pump is getting weak, but he says it's just a coin toss until it actually goes for good. He knew what he was doing. He's been out here before and worked on my stove.

    American Home Shield is a good company. I've also used them before when I first bought the house. I don’t like calling because they take forever to come to the phone but I don't have any issues with any of the contractors that I've had to use. Recently, a contractor came out for my hot water heater and my sump pump. The hot water heater had water around it but they couldn't find a leak anywhere. My sump pump was running and there was nothing in there to be pumped out. With pumping the water out, the little float got stuck.

    They charged me for a full month of premium although I cancelled the policy on the first effective day of the month. They have cancellation guidelines that they instantly brought up when I asked about the reason for not refunding the money, but am sure they never discuss this when a customer is shopping for a home warranty policy, just like what happened to me. I remember I had asked about cancellation and all they said was there is no cancellation charge and I can cancel anytime. I would not recommend anyone to get policy from AHS.

    Our furnace stopped working and I wasn't quite sure what the reason was. So, I called American Home Shield. Within 12 to 16 hours, the contractor was out. I put in the submission the night before and I called them in the morning. They said they were gonna try to squeeze me in while they were in the area. They were very professional and polite. They fixed the issue and made sure everything was up and running for about 20 minutes before they left. So I have no complaints. They did a great job. They were about 20 minutes away from where I live but they still made it work for 30 minutes away.

    My only complaint was I had to submit and cancel a request, maintenance requests or whatever I did on the website of AHS. I did that about six times because every time, they were matching me with a company that had no reputation. Usually when I pick somebody or at least if I want somebody inside of my house, I want to have good reviews and a good reputation. I went through a list of 10 with the customer service rep and I couldn’t find the first three anywhere. The reviews of the ones that I could find were not that great. AHS should give the consumer a little bit more of a selection so you can do your own research. I’d like to make sure that I'm at least dealing with a reputable company. Thankfully, I found after a little bit of searching. But the beginning was annoying and frustrating trying to find somebody.

    The dryer wasn't drying. We filed the claim online and AHS told us who the contractor would be and to reach out to them. They reached out to me before I could and they came right out. The issue was the thermostat and they fixed it. We only have to dry clothes once now. When it was broken, it took five times to dry all of our clothes. Their service was great.     I'm very satisfied with AHS. I called them. It was the second day after that huge ice storm. No power for three days. The pool operates off of power. I had no juice into that and the pool was frozen solid. It was thick enough where my big fat cat was out there walking on it.     There have been a few things AHS hasn't covered, which is irritating. But I have eight houses with them and it would be too much work to switch. There was one instance where there was a hole up in a wall by a company they use, and I told them. Then, out of nowhere, I got a phone call from a person who does sheetrock and they said they're scheduled to go there and fix it, which was nice on their part. They could've just brushed it under the rug and said, "Sorry." So, that made up for some of the issues they don't cover. With our recent heating claim, the tech that came was awesome and he took care of it. I've had to use him before, and he communicates really well. Having AHS saves me money so that's good.

    There was somebody that has been coming out to my home that didn't do what they were supposed to do. And they turned the contract over to somebody else.

    When the contractor came out, they looked like it was all mixed up. And they were young kids. They didn't know what they were doing. Mannerism was not good at all. I asked about my refrigerator, and I told him yesterday I still have the issue with the leak. When they moved it out, I wasn't aware it messed up my floor.

    I talked to American Home Shield. They told me they don't cover my floors, but the cause of my floors being messed up was my refrigerator, which now I got to get my floor fixed because the water been leaking, and I still have the issue. AHS doesn't want to take responsibility. But I told them that was the problem. And if I put new floors down and I have the same issue, I'm gonna sue them. And I told them that because I understand that floors is not in my contract but the refrigerator is the root of the cause. They told me I have to pay another $75 and I don't want to do that. They ordered the parts for the dishwasher and refrigerator at the same time. Right after they installed the parts in the dishwasher, it started doing the very same thing. They keep putting parts on it. So, I told them, “If the refrigerator needs to be replaced, replace the refrigerator. Stop trying to put parts on something that needs to be replaced.”

    The contractor came out three times. I was scheduled to come put the part on the dishwasher a third time and nobody showed up. I took off my job because my window was between 1:00 and 5:00. Nobody showed up. So, I called them. Nobody responded to me. I called AHS, told them. They reached out to them. They didn't get a response either. A quarter to 9:00 that Monday night, the technician called me and said he was on his way to my home but I told him, “I don't think so. Not at a quarter to 9:00. My window’s between 1:00 and 5:00. You're not coming out to my home.”

    I kept calling them days later and then AHS called me and told me that they told them to transfer the contract to someone else and that was when the new party got involved. They came out, looked at my dishwasher, and said that from their examination, it needed to be replaced. So, I have ordered the replacement. It’s not here, so hopefully, I'll get it soon. This has been a nightmare and I’m sick of it. I pay for membership. I didn't deserve this. I still don’t have my issues resolved.

    I talked to AHS yesterday and I went ahead and ordered the dishwasher. I was trying to get an upgrade. However, they wouldn't honor the upgrade because I have Kenmore Elite. And they don't make Kenmore appliances anymore. I went ahead and picked what they had. Someone called me this morning to get an installation date. But they had me on hold for 30 minutes, so I hung up.

    I mentioned to them about my refrigerator. They told me I had to pay another $75 service fee. And I told them I don't think that's fair to me. But they told me they were sorry because they had done went past the time date. They told me they can do another work order, but I didn't follow through with it because I had already paid the $75 when they came out for my dishwasher and refrigerator. And they ordered some gaskets to put on my refrigerator. They asked me if they put them on and I told them, “Yes, they put them on but I can still hear water running.”

    Our central air conditioning system was malfunctioning. It was sporadically shutting itself off. American Home Shield's whole system was efficient. I had to pay a $75 service charge, and it was only a very short period of time before I got a confirmation that I would hear from the contractor. We had an appointment the next day. The guy who came was very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain what was wrong and I was quite pleased. As it turned out, it was a small problem and he was able to resolve it with no parts, just a bit of service. It made the air conditioning system function more reliably.     We're a little concerned with the heater that we have because we've had a couple of issues so far. But other than that, the warranty we've had with AHS is perfectly fine. We're going to renew it. The first guy that we had come out was a total jerk. He came in and listened to what I had to say but you could see from his body language that he didn't want to have anything to do with me being that I was a female. I showed him where everything was and he talked down to me like I knew nothing.

    When he was done looking what he needed to look at, he told me it was going to take him a week to get the parts and for the warranty to approve it. I said, “It's the middle of winter. We’re without heat. Are you sure there's nothing we can do to get heat sooner than that?” He said there was nothing he could do. The way he talked was nasty. He did wind up calling my husband the next day and told him that the part was in and came to fix it. He was a little nicer the next day but not much at all. I would never let him back in my house to do work. I noted that with the guys that came this last time that they looked broody and didn't look very nice but they were absolutely wonderful. They answered all my questions and gave me a business card. I really liked them a lot. If we have to do anything with this heater, I would love for them to come back out again.

    When we noticed there was a small leak in the toilet, we checked our warranty to make sure that it was covered. The warranty is pretty straightforward. We re-read it again so we knew to contact AHS first before doing things on our own. If we did it on our own, it was likely that it wouldn't be covered. We did a claim online and AHS set us up with a plumber very quickly. I heard from the plumber directly and that was within a couple of hours. A seal had broken around the toilet and the plumber reseated the toilet and fixed it. He was here for 30 minutes. Everything's going great.

    There was some part that was broken that was allowing water just to flow into the dishwasher and flood everywhere. That part hasn't been repaired yet. But the plumber guy helped us turn off the water. He thought it was gonna take a long time for the part to come in, so we had to make his appointment later. But the part actually came in within two days. It's a real major bummer to have to schedule the guy so late because we can't use any hot water in our sink.

    Now, we had to reschedule because I had a doctor's appointment and that made it even worse. So it was gonna take too long for something so critical. Having hot water in your kitchen and not having a dishwasher means we have to turn on hot water for just a very short amount of time to get hot water, to be able to wash dishes. The other way to do it is to camper style, heat water on the stove.

    It would've been nice if we could have had somebody come that day the part came, especially for a big deal like not having kitchen sink water. But we didn't try getting another plumber because we liked the plumber guy we had. But American Home Shield has done that before. We had a plumber who was obviously drunk. He was replacing a broken garbage disposal and was intentionally going to give us a worse model probably because he was going to get paid more. So during the service of this drunk guy being in my kitchen, I called American Home Shield and told them that the guy was clearly intoxicated and that he was telling us that he was going to replace our machine with something inferior. American Home Shield replaced the plumber and so we were happy.

    We also had another incident with a crazily old dryer and it wasn't heating up. This wasn't a short time also. The dryer had a huge part that was broken and the service guy had it on hand, for a really old dryer. He fixed the dryer in a day. We're happy that it's working but it's like a miracle.

    The guy that came to look at the unit and was gonna try to repair it was great. Brought his own blanket in, had all his tools, his mask, gone. He was very thorough and asked questions. The only issue I had was the delivery, and it wasn't the owner’s fault. It was his worker. When the delivery was happening, I called the company that was delivering and asked them if the guy, instead of giving me a half an hour, to give me an hour notice. They told me that they didn't have the guy's phone number. And then when I talked to him when he got here, he told me that they talked to him that morning. There was no reason they could tell them.     Last year, the AC unit in my parent's house kept freezing over. I called American Home Shield and they advised me at the time that we were at the end of the season for the air conditioning. So for someone to come out and service it, I was probably wasting my $75 deductible because of the fact that we were getting to the point where we weren't gonna need the AC. If it was leaking Freon and it was low, and they put it in there, it would just be leaking over the season, so they advised to wait 'til spring to have it serviced, and that was what I did.

    The technician came out and I told them the problem and what was happening. He checked inside to make sure the coils weren't frozen over and then he went on the outside and I showed him where it was freezing over. He took it from there. He said the seals on the two caps on the AC unit where you put the Freon in were rotted and they were no longer good. So he put two new caps on. He said that might have been the problem. I was very impressed with this company.

    I like American Home Shield. It helps out a lot. With what my mom and dad had, it was great. But with what I've had, I'm having issues. I've called on my dryer about three or four times. The first guy came out and said it was a belt and he was going to order it. The second guy came out, put the belt on the dryer and he dropped the drum on the garage floor and it dented it. So they had to order another drum for the inside of the dryer. Then they put the belt on and the dryer was working fine. But we're not even six months into it, it's making the same noise again.

    Our water heater unit was not working even though the power was on. When I went out to take a look at it, the reset button was not even attached to the unit. I pressed it and turned the unit back on. The water got scalding hot. There was steam coming out of my faucet that the water heater sounded like a hot water kettle on the stove. I immediately shut it off again. I called American Home Shield on a Sunday night and let them know the situation. They gave me Blue Collar Plumbing and I called them Monday. A tech got back with me early Tuesday and set up his earliest appointment. Unfortunately, it wasn't until Friday but that was fine.

    He got here and saw the unit. I have a 1988 unit. The reset button and the thermostats were shot. The unit had to be replaced. He put in a claim and I got confirmation that the claim was accepted that following Tuesday. The unit was ordered and the tech scheduled me for Wednesday even though the soonest he could come was Monday. He was right there exactly the time he said he would be there. He did the replacement and got it all up-to-code. It's a water heater that has the same yearly cost as the one they replaced. The only difference is this unit is taller.

    The tech dealt with the electricity and the central water shut-off. He double-checked the power was shut off. He had his power meter right there. He was extremely professional and thoughtful. American Home Shield is wonderful. They are quick to respond and everything within their document fits exactly to what I have needed to have done and my unit was repaired exactly as it says in the document.

    We had a heating issue. They checked to make sure that everything was running because we were told that it wasn't working properly. Apparently, it's running okay. We also called in for a refrigerator repair. There was a problem with the refrigerator freezing food. The freezer door handle had also broken off. When I spoke to American Home Shield’s gal, I asked her if that handle was going to be covered. Because if it wasn't, I would have probably gotten rid of the refrigerator. She said, “Yes, absolutely. All parts are covered.”

    The technician came out and told me, “Yeah. They'll take care of it.” He fixed the icing problem. But then American Home Shield denied and told me that the handle had been broken from force and that is not true. So, I was not happy about that. It’s frustrating because I would have gotten rid of the refrigerator and replaced it. I wouldn't have spent the money to have them come out. I called them, “I'm sure it was recorded. You need to go back and listen to the recordings. Because she absolutely told me it would be covered.” But they haven't taken care of it. But it's been a good experience with AHS. They are quick to respond. The customer service reps that answer the phone calls just need to be more aware of what's covered and what's not.

    My first claim with AHS was a plumbing issue and they didn't cover that. They said that it was the city's fault and not theirs. But the line was all clogged up. Come to find out after I got the third person out there, the tree root had nicked the line and over time, mud got in the line and clogged it all up. So, I had to get all that replaced.

    With my second claim with AHS, I was having trouble with my heat. The temperature wasn't staying the way it should have. I called them and the tech came out and said that some switch that’s outside by the air conditioner was broken. So, they’ve replaced that. He said that would fix the issue. The damper had broken and fallen. So, he had to come back out for that. I told him that when I was looking down in the heat exchanger, it looked like there was water down there.

    The first time he was there, he said he didn't see anything. Then, the second time he was there, he said he saw it and he put the new damper on. They said that that was something that they would not cover because water had gotten down in there. But it wasn't anything intentional that happened. It had rained for 18 days and water got into the crawlspace, my ducts and the heat exchanger. So, they denied the claim saying that that wasn't covered, which I thought that all ductwork was covered.

    The contractor came out right away for our oven claim. It was scheduled quickly. The first time, I thought they fixed it because it started working and it heated up. But it wouldn't go beyond 350. Every time I would push the button for it to go to a higher degree, it would go down instead of up. The appliance repair person came back out the following week and he found out that it needed an interface replacement. Then he got back to AHS. The part wasn't available and so they decided to replace it.

    I've been trying to get the oven since February and when I've called there, it was never in stock. AHS had me make a decision whether I get the oven or the reimbursement. I went and bought one and did the cash-out option. I was happy that it was available, because if not, then I would be stuck. I submitted the receipt a few days ago. The oven was obviously more expensive than what AHS had to offer, so I had to put out of pocket. But I needed the oven either way, so I had to replace it. The service was good.

    We were having a banging noise in our dryer. The guy who came spent plenty of time, showed me everything he was doing, took apart the entire dryer, and what we found was a safety pin had come loosen off of something and got stuck in the fan. That was the banging noise. He cleaned everything up. He did a great job. He kept his appointment when he said he was going to be here. He called me when he was 30 minutes out like I had asked, so I could leave the office and be at the house when he got here. He followed up three different times via email to make sure we were not having any more issues with the dryer. The guy was absolutely terrific.

    American Home Shield is pretty good. The one issue I do have with them is that if you're having an issue with one of their vendors, it's very difficult to get anybody to talk to and I've only had an issue with one vendor. I've had a couple out but the only one I've had any issue with, and I've had them out twice is Greenway Services. They're not that responsive. Both issues, they came with the wrong parts. They had to go order the parts and it took forever to get them in and to get ahold of anybody. The other people that have come out have been terrific. With Greenway, it was an HVAC issue on one and a hot water heater issue on the other. In the heat of the summer of last year, we had almost a month with no air conditioning. Dealing with Greenway was ridiculous.

    I have recommended American Home Shield for other people, even in spite of the problem with Greenway. I wish they would have another vendor for major stuff. Greenway left a bad taste in my mouth. AHS should get rid of Greenway or get Greenway to give them better service. Also, it would be nice if they had agents in the United States.

    The microwave was just clicking smoothly and then all of a sudden, it started making a loud sound and smoking. MS Appliance was good. Their people had been on time and accurate. The only thing is that they schedule appointments 12:00 to 4:00, Monday to Friday only. It's an inconvenient time if one is working. Unfortunately, this time, they had something go wrong. They were supposed to come out and put in a magnetron yesterday between 12:00 and 4:00, yet they called me yesterday and said that they ordered the wrong part. But they would expedite the new one, and it'd be here in two or three days. So, that's no problem with me.

    There was an issue with the washing machine on our first call. The contractor they called out fixed a small problem, but then they broke it worse. American Home Shield didn't pay for the new damages. This particular time, it’s working. But that other time, we felt like they really found a backdoor on us. Then better to call American Home Shield before 5 o'clock because they have customer service representatives that have more abilities at that time. They're able to actually help. After 5:00, it’s more just basic questions or call back. Overall, this warranty good. It'll cover anything big, any major repairs. They'll repair appliances, but they will do anything possible to get out of replacing anything. If it gets too expensive, they'll start throwing regulations and stuff at you.

    The water in my shower was getting cold and we were getting to the point where we had almost no hot water. So I put in a claim to have the contractor inspect the hot water heater. I went through the American Home Shield website and it was pretty easy to use. I paid the $75 and put the claim in there. I was told that it would be 24 to 48 hours before I would get contacted and then the contractor would send me a message when they were on their way.

    I got a text message when the contractor was on their way. They were very professional and courteous. We asked them a couple of questions about it and they were happy to answer them. They did their job in about three minutes and then they were gone. We've had hot water ever since. The water has been hotter than it's been since we moved into the house. It's been fantastic. I started to learn that whenever you go to sell a house, people really like to know that the home is protected by American Home Shield. Also, I live paycheck to paycheck, so it's easier for me to pay the monthly fee for the ultimate package than to replace a major appliance.

    We go online to submit claims and home issues are sometimes not standard and take a little bit of extra description. When we want to follow up on the status, we do a phone call. It's a good service but it could be up to 30 minutes with all the wait time. And when we do it online, we get an automated text back and if it doesn't answer the question, a whole day has gone by so we just call. Also, when a job gets done, I get this alert but it doesn't say the property or even the vendor. It's just some code. The text could include the vendor's name and the property. Other than those, Home Shield has contracted with good contractors and it's hard to find good help on this island because it's a small population. We have different types of AC systems out here and they are pretty good about sending the correct specialist.

    My washer was having some problems with the cycles changing and the water was continuing to flow in even when the washer was spinning. Also, the cycle would not complete. I called AHS on the phone and after I've put the claim in, they sent an email with the appointment time and date when the repair company, Lake Area, would come out.

    The tech was very professional and friendly. My only concern was that he had to come out four times. The first time he came out, he said he had to order the panel for the washer. The second time he came out, he brought the panel and installed it. Then, I had to call back because it still wasn't working. Water was still coming into the washer when it shouldn't have. He came back out to relook at it and said it was something going on with the control on the faucets. I felt that they didn't really listen to what I was saying in the beginning. When he realized what the issue was, it was the same thing I was telling him before. He had to order another part and come back out.

    The water wasn't draining and was backing up in the attic underneath the air conditioning unit. The contractor came and repaired the drain line upstairs. I recognized the company name. They had come out once before and took out two pounds of Freon 'cause the other technician had overfilled it. Then we found out that our other unit needed two pounds. I asked if they could just transfer that over there instead of us having to pay $300. He was a good worker. I'm happy that American Home Shield is able to send people out pretty dang quick, especially down here when it's hot. I just wish they paid more on the Freon instead of $10 off for 1/2 pound, it still was gonna cost us about 300 bucks. So, that has yet to be rectified. But I'm hoping water is not backing up upstairs.

    We called for service and the tech came out and did a repair. But, it was still doing the same thing. So then he swung by and said he was gonna order some part. But, it took a long time to get the parts. The problem is we sold our house in the meantime. We were getting ready to move and we wanted to take this stuff with us.     My dryer wouldn't cut off and it was making a whole lot of noise like it was falling apart. I called that in and the claim process was okay. The only difficult part about it was where American Home Shield got me hooked up with the first time. That contractor was no good and that really upset me. They weren't even answering the phone. American Home Shield should not deal with them anymore. I've been paying the home warranty for two years and I couldn't get any service.

    I called American Home Shield a hundred times. The bad part about it was that they were taking so long to hook me up to a new contractor. I was getting ready to fire American Home Shield the first time because of that. They were trying to keep me waiting until I got in contact with the contractor. I had to pay the price for that. I told them "If they don't answer the phone for me, they don't answer the phone for y'all, why do I have to keep waiting to get a new contractor?" I got a second contractor and those are the kind of people that American Home Shield ought to keep on the table. Their guy got the part mailed to my house then he came right out and fixed the dryer. On the whole, American Home Shield is a good investment and I would recommend them.

    With my recent claim, the heat was no longer being produced by the dryer. DC Appliance Service came and diagnosed the situation and found that it was a controller board, which was the first thing they replaced when the part came in. After they did that, it looked like it wasn't quite working yet so they checked and it was the heating element. They went and replaced that while they were still here 'cause they had one and that resolved the issue. They were very professional and they did their job efficiently. My only lament is it’s usually the case when parts take a long time to deliver, just makes it inconvenient. That's not their problem, though.

    Whenever I have something that happens related to air conditioning, it's more than an hour waiting to speak to someone in order to ask to use one of their particular preferred air conditioning folks that had to repair things in the past, because I know that they get it right the first time. When I just let it go to chance on the air conditioning piece, it's happened more than once that the people that have come out made it worse or improperly diagnosed the problem. I would like it that if I have to call in that it's more efficient to get to someone quickly in order to make that request, or if making an online request, it should have the option to specify a vendor, which it is possible. It's just it's not made convenient to do so. I've always been pleased in the end. It's just been painful in the process.

    Nobody called me back to fix the hole in the wall that the contractor made about three weeks ago. I called and somebody was supposed to get out here but that never happened. But before that, the experience with American Home Shield was good. I had a couple of claims and they took care of all of them except when the heat went out and it was 30 degrees outside. I called AHS all night long and we couldn’t get anybody on the phone. They couldn't find a good company to come out because nobody wanted to respond right away. So, I ended up finding somebody on my own and I had them come out and do it. Maybe sometimes, the reaction time is a little slow with AHS but overall, it’s not bad.

    I’d still recommend people because it's better to have AHS. My mother-in-law had warranties on everything and she ended up paying more money than you would have if you had AHS. Sometimes, some people doesn't realize the benefit of having them. They got a bad publicity though in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were the only thing on the news channel on one of the major channels. They did a 15-minute segment on people dissatisfied with American Home Shield. Still, people should get them. We benefited from it quite a bit.

    Some of our products and equipment such as the stove and microwave were repaired. Right now, they told us that they will give us another microwave because the tech couldn’t fix it. So, AHS will give us over $600 to get a new one. We found one already so we got to pick it up and then submit the claim. Usually, when you submit the claim, you get the money right back and hopefully, I will. So, I still like American Home Shield. I just wish I can get somebody to rectify the hole in the wall problem.

    I've had to do two claims with American Home Shield since I bought the house and they're very good. They recently sent out a plumbing company that did a great job. At the point when the plumber first came here, he couldn't complete the repairs because there was more damage under the house.     The wire connecting to one of the breakers just broke into pieces. It had to be reconnected. I called and it was a bit hard for me to understand the person that I talked to. She said they would call to set up a time 24 to 48 hours after I made the claim. Then I got a phone call within about 10 minutes of hanging up and the people were at my house within 15 minutes. They were extremely professional, helpful, and patient. I would highly recommend taking out a policy from American Home Shield. I've had great experiences and it was definitely peace of mind.

    My furnace was not coming on. It'd be cold in my house and if I go downstairs to see what was going on, I could hear the furnace humming on and off. It wouldn't stay on and it wouldn't heat up the house at all. The guy that came out to look at the furnace told me he had to look at it all the way through. He went out to his truck for about 15 minutes and then came back in. He got on the phone with his boss, telling him what was going on after he worked on it. Then he told me it needed to be changed. He also told me that the wire was cut and his boss told him he could go no farther because it's dangerous. As he got ready to leave, he turned the furnace off. He said, "Well, it's shut off for now, but you can turn it on if you want to. There's the switch right there." So I had to ask him, "Why would I turn it on when you're telling me that it's dangerous for you to even work on?" I don't think my cord was cut.

    The regulator on the water heater was bad and was causing thumping and banging every time the water was turned on. Also, we had a commode that was leaking through, the water would run out of it, and a shower faucet was also leaking. The plumber from Royal Flush Plumbing replaced the regulator on the water heater, the commode, and a mechanism on the shower. He was great and very timely. We requested to have him come back to do some plumbing stuff we needed. The only thing is that AHS gave us a lot of flak when we had to have the water heater replaced. It was pretty soon after we had just gotten the contract but we got that done.

    Half of our electricity was off. We called it in on a Saturday, the contractor was closed but they came out Monday. This claim was handled in a timely manner. It turned out that it was an issue on Dominion's part so they had to come out there and fix some things. Right now, it seems like everything is okay. I'm going to keep American Home Shield. I'm going on five years with them so they do pretty well. There is one thing, though. They automatically take the payment out. A lot of people don't like that part. It was better when we pay when the contractor got there. I would like to go back to that because sometimes, the service might get canceled. Once they come, they still take the money out.

    It was determine that my furnace's igniter wasn't working. The tech who came was very efficient, thorough and quick. Now, my furnace works.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield is a very difficult process. Last week, our clothes dryer was not working properly. So, I put in a claim but there is one contractor that I will not let back in my house. The only way to assure that contractor will not come is to talk to someone and set up the appointment. All the prompts were in English and by an English-speaking person. I kept pressing 0 and finally I got someone who was speaking English but with a heavy accent. I couldn't understand a word he was saying. I was put on hold twice because they had to go back to GE Appliance to set up the appointment. After all was said and done, I got an email follow-up after the call to say that the claim had been assigned to GE Appliance and I would be hearing from them.

    The next day, I get an email saying I'm supposed to call GE Appliance to set up the appointment. So I called GE appliance and they have never heard of me. They didn't have the claim number and they didn't have my name in the system. There was nothing they could do. I was not happy about that so I called AHS back. I talked to someone who had less of a heavy accent that I kind of got through. She said I was right. I had talked to someone and no appointment was made with GE Appliance. So I was able to remake the appointment through this person with another contractor and things are in the process of being fixed.

    I understand outsourcing and everything. But it's a real problem. There's a lot lost in translation. Every time I make one of these calls, I usually put the call on speaker and my wife sits there to try to help me understand as she sits there and shakes her head. Also, the reps listen then hang up the phone and say "screw you", then go about their business. This is not the first time this has happened with American Home Shield. It's, for sure, the second, maybe the third, where I finally did get through to them and I've asked to talk to supervisors, and they say, “No one's available.”

    Other than that, we've been pretty satisfied with AHS. We're in an older home and they have replaced the refrigerator freezer at $0 cost to me other than the deductible. We're extremely pleased with that. But the process is a bit cumbersome. Recently, it was determined that my furnace's igniter wasn't working. The tech who came was very efficient, thorough, and quick. Now, my furnace works. Other than that contractor I will not let back in my house everyone else that AHS has sent has been professional and knowledgeable. They take care of my issue.

    We've had to use American Home Shield twice this year and both times, it's worked out really well. We had our water heater go out. I called it in and they sent a guy out. What had happened was, we had one put in several years back through American Home Shield and the place wasn't real reputable at the time that they had sent out, and nobody knew that. They didn't tell us what all had to be added on to make it work properly. So they didn't put this compressor thing on it.

    So in the winter, when it got really cold outside, the water was so cold, when it hit our lines, it ruined our newer water heater because there was no filter compressor thing on there to warm it before it got to the water heater. So they cut a bunch of corners. American Home Shield went ahead and replaced what should have not had to been replaced, which was great. Any additional items I had to add on, I had to pay, which was totally fine. But it was quick, they had it taken care of within a week. We were up and running and had no problems with that. We've had AHS for five years now and they’ve been phenomenal every time we've had something.

    The people who came out did a wonderful job. When they said they were coming, they showed up. They told me what they were gonna do but then they kinda left me hanging because they couldn't get the parts, which wasn't their fault. As far as the ending of it, I didn't appreciate it because I was told that I could get another washing machine but no one notified me.     The hot water tank was leaking real bad down the front. The contractor was super friendly and clean. They were real well-mannered. I really like them. I would use them again. They cleaned their mess up. The experience was real well. It all went so smooth. But I've had heck with Home Shield when I filed an air conditioning claim back in August of the past year. I got an air conditioning heating unit replaced because it could not be repaired. Home Shield kept saying they needed invoices and that was $6,000 in my part. So I still haven't gotten anything on that. Other than that, they've always done fairly decent.

    The limit that American Home Shield paid or allowed for the dishwasher was 500. We used the $500 and got an average to slightly below average dishwasher. It would be phenomenal if we can increase that. There was also a bit of a challenge with our claim. My wife said the first gentleman that came out to try to repair the dishwasher was great. However, he tried to order some parts in. By the time the parts came in and the second person came to install them, he said that it wasn't going to fix the problem. The second person said the issue wasn't fixable and we needed a new dishwasher. My wife wishes that would have been done upon the initial diagnosis, so the process could have been a bit faster and more efficient. The first person was wrong in their assessment, so we were without a dishwasher for a longer period of time. It took an extra three weeks before we had a functioning dishwasher again.

    I have an issue with billing that I do not understand. There were two different charges and exceeded $100. I've seen that numerous times. Sometimes I tend to think AHS just haphazardly charges right and left without authorization. I've not been happy about that and if I decide to go a different direction, that would be one of the reasons.

    Also, during the pandemic, I had issues getting people on the phone. It's almost impossible. The hold times were unbelievable and I had people who said they would call me back but they didn't. And I've always had difficulty with the language barrier. It seems that a lot of the people who are in customer relations for AHS might be a bit challenged with English. I'm older so I always have a little bit of a difficult time understanding. As for the contractors, it's kind of hit or miss. But I was satisfied with J. Coppock International when they came out for my washer. They came back until the issue was resolved.

Then, I called early in the morning to check up on the claim and they were able to schedule somebody out that day. The technician showed up and completed the job. The claims process with American Home Shield was good but there should be another option online to get emergency service because that was why I had called in the AM to follow up. A month ago, I did another claim and I called for a plumbing issue for a different problem in the house. It was an emergency but they weren’t able to get somebody out until the next day. Still, whoever I spoke to from AHS was very professional.

    At first, I didn't know how to do submit claims by phone. I called again and I got a live person who gave me my contract number. Once I had that, it was pretty smooth sailing. I just walk through with the automated system aspect. I had a claim for the dryer and I told the tech what was wrong with it. He said I need to clean my vent out. I went up in the attic but there was nothing really in it. He came back out and I told him that it was the heating element. He put in an order for that, came back out, and replaced that part and it was fine.

    Our refrigerator's ice maker was making ice but wouldn't push it out. Also, the rubber gasket around the edge of the door was worn and was not keeping the refrigerator cold.     It wasn't as easy to get in touch with the first place AHS assigned me to. But with Astro Appliance, it was very easy. I even got a call and they gave me an appointment. I told them I needed it faster or sooner. The lady called me 10 minutes later and told me she got an opening. That was very nice. Astro was definitely better than my first experience with the first company. The person who came was very professional. This was the fourth visit for the same fridge and I hope it's fixed now. This happened over the course of about two and a half months. What I care for is not a replacement but more like fix the problem. I don't feel like American Home Shield has a lot of control over the way they give the contracts out and how they assign the contractors. I don't feel like there was a lot of diagnostics done. There are error codes in the fridge and I don't think anybody looked at those. I felt they changed a part based on what I said the problem was.

    American Home Shield is sending me out another plumber. I had a horrible experience with Infinity. She thinks I threatened her. I have the text exchange. It wasn't a good fit at all. Her plumbers came out here and they delivered a set to her office saying they delivered a set to me. Then, she said something about double billing. I said, "Y'all should be the one getting the part, not me. I'm not a plumber." She got highly offensive. I paid my bill and they're gonna send me out another plumber on Tuesday. Infinity Plumbing has poor customer service.

    The lady from Infinity said that she sent a text to whoever she was talking to. On March 11th, she said, "Good afternoon. Can we come out Wednesday at 1:00 to 2:00 to fix your faucet?" I said yes and on March 11th, she said, "Great. You should've received the text with the appointment time and you will get another when the plumber is on the way." Yesterday, I said, "I have part. Please keep my scheduled appointment." She said, "Unfortunately, your appointment was canceled as we cannot send our plumbers to a home without having confirmed parts are there. Our scheduler will reach out to reschedule." I said, "Parts are here in my hand." I sent her a copy of it and it came through the manufacturing. Then, I said, "Please call me immediately. I've waited long enough. I needed it fixed today. I took off work." "Yes ma'am. When we called you yesterday to confirm, you said you did not have the part."

    She didn't call me. She just said she was coming out. I told her, "I said I wasn't sure. I need a plumber. This needs to be addressed immediately. Please have the owner call me." She said, "Like I said, our scheduler will have to take a look to see where we can add you back to the schedule." I sent her a copy of my business. I said, "That is not right. I will take this up with the Better Business Bureau. You are passing your job onto the customer. You ordered the part, it should have been sent to you. I expect a call and a plumber to fix this issue immediately. I have been without water in my kitchen for over two and a half weeks. Do I need to call my state rep or city councilman? I will call Justin **." She told me, "I'm guessing this is not an emergency if you received the part on February 27th but did not contact us to let us know you had received the part."

    I told her, "It is. I don't have a mailbox key. The mailman brought me all my stuff. I moved into a new house." So, she called me and basically said that I was hard to understand and that I didn't seem like I was interested. I said, "One, ma'am, I had a medical procedure, and two, I'm legally deaf. So, I'm sorry if you don't think that I'm clear enough or whatever." She said, "Well, you're threatening to give me a negative review. My godfather is an attorney and you of all people that you can't be threatening people." I said, "I'm not. I'm one of these people that they're talking about on the news that is still going without water. I've been without kitchen water. I can show you my hotel bill. I'm a single mom with three kids."

    She said, "Okay, but we canceled you and we are taking an 80-year old lady who doesn't have water in her house." I said, "If you're going to do that, then you can also include my parents who also have a bedroom here, and my dad is an amputee, a veteran, and lives with me part-time so I can help my mother with his diabetes." Then, she responded, "It's a personal problem." She said she texted our whole conversation to whoever she was talking to at American Home Shield. She mentioned all these warranty companies and she said, "So, I'm not worried about you." Then, she hung up. Yesterday, I got an email and I spoke to a real nice lady that said ASAP #2 Plumbing. She said, that they would come out Tuesday. The first thing I did was I apologized. I said, "Look, I am legally deaf. So if you need me to use an actual landline, I will." She said, "No, ma'am. You're fine."

    Infinity Plumbing was beyond rude. When the guys came, they weren't wearing badges and they have nothing on their trucks that say that they're Infinity. One of them told me, "Ma'am, do you want me to help to try to get water or we can leave?" I was like, "Well, come in, but can't y'all show me something that you are who you say you are?" Gina, the owner, said, "They don't need to be wearing company T-shirts and this, that, and the other." I said, "Well, they should at least have some sort of identification." She told me she didn't need me to be telling her how to run her business.

    Anybody at the end of the day can come up with an invoice for me to sign, and I really didn't even sign anything. I have nothing showing that I paid the $75 to American Home Shield. They came with nothing. They didn't ask me any ID or if I am the homeowner. I was very dissatisfied with that contractor. Thankfully, the new people said that they would be out Tuesday. American Home Shield needs to re-evaluate who they are using, but as far as the customer service, I could not have asked for better customer service.

    The first time we called American Home Shield, it was on a Friday and the furnace wasn't working. We could not get ahold of anybody because the answering service, apparently, does not forward the call. It was a while before the tech got here and the temperature was dropping consistently. The guy was perfect and extremely helpful. I appreciated his help. The problem was the communication time regarding something that was urgent. The second thing that happened was the garage door stopped working and again, it was the weekend. But this time, it wasn't an emergency. The tech got the call on Monday instead of any other time. He came and he was very helpful and courteous. AHS has been beneficial but not efficient. That’s part of having things break down on Friday. If it's an emergency, I want a response and if it's not, it's perfectly fine to tell me that they will notify the contractor on Monday and he will call me.

    I've had a couple of situations lately where AHS doesn't have enough personnel working. There was a cross-up with something that I had tried to put in a request for services that weren't covered and then I got charged for it. I was told that I was going to get a refund for it and it took five phone calls over a couple of months to get that resolved. But the experience I had for my garbage disposal claim was easy.

    I went online and filed a claim but it didn't let me explain that besides the garbage disposal making strange noises and seemingly not working, it was spewing water all through the bottom. The website didn't have the extra option of giving more explanation. But the people at Prime, the dispatched contractor, were fabulous. I filed the claim after hours and they called me first thing in the morning. They had somebody to my house before 2:30 in the afternoon and the plumber was very professional and knew what he was doing. I've been using American Home Shield for 20 years and he was one of the best contractors that I've had.

    I can't stand Service One Air. I had to call them three different times to get the same thing fixed. We were out of heat in the most coldest time and they didn’t come right on. I have a 9-month old grandbaby and a 78-year old mother but they didn't care. They took their time because their servicemen reported something that was not true to their supervisor. When the supervisor came out, they saw that their work didn't even add up. I had to call American Home Shield and raise a lot of hell about it for them to send someone else out. Service One Air kept saying it was my thermostat and I kept asking them, “Would American Home Shield allow me to get another Nest?" The repairman said he did not know but he went back and reported to them that I said we didn't want it.

    I talked to the supervisor and said, “That was never said. My paperwork doesn't read what you're saying that he gave me.” I started explaining to him what was said. He sent another repair person out. They took out my Nest and threw it away then put a Honeywell in. But they didn't put it in properly. They miswired it. We had to send somebody else out. On the third time, the supervisor came out then on the last time, it was a young lady. These were all a week and a half of each other. I haven't had a good experience with them at all. They're not professional. Their whole thing was, “When it first came, you should have got them.” I kept trying to explain to them that I didn’t refuse service. They even went into their system and lied. They said that they were trying to get in contact with me but they never called me.

    The only thing that was bad on American Home Shield’s place was I felt that it could have been better. They could have done more. When I was telling them that this was the issue, they were like, “We still have to go through this and that. We’ll give you a call back.” They didn’t give me a call back. I had to call them back. The second time I called American Home Shield, they got something done. I was satisfied with them because they didn't just take Service One Air's word for it. From the very beginning when I called and complained, they had notes in their system that showed that I was following up and I was trying to get it fixed then. I am satisfied with some of the services that I have gotten through American Home Shield. I also had another request through Hinkle for my oven to be fixed during the same timeframe.

    A tech from Home Service Plumbers came out because the toilet and the shower were backing up. He said that the septic must be clogged somewhere and he said if it's still a problem after the septic service company comes out, to call him and he would come right back out. He was very nice.     Our thermostat had stopped working after a power outage. My wife submitted a claim online and she was told to expect the contractor in a day or two. It turned out that the tech was not able to repair it so we switched it out for a new thermostat. He also found that we needed to change the filter on our furnace. We had an issue where he had to come out a couple more times 'cause every time he left, the heat would stop working again. He was good at getting back to us when we contacted him and let him know that there was still something wrong. Also, he was quick about coming back as quickly as he could. He did a good job and our heat is working fine now. I would probably call them again.

    We got really fast service in the middle of really bad snow and freezing temperatures. A lot of people were calling HVAC specialists. The fact that we got a response as quickly as we did and that the tech was able to keep coming out when things didn't work out so well was great. We got a sense of security knowing that we could rely on calling someone out even in a really difficult time.

    There was a leak from the bathroom into the ceiling in the floor below and the plumber said that they couldn’t do anything to fix it. I've got a homeowner’s claim open. It looks like they’re gonna have to bring somebody in to tear out the shower in that bathroom. I’m not happy with American Home Shield.     The first technician came out to do the dishwasher and he told us that it was the pump. So, he replaced it. A couple of days later, it wasn't the pump because it did the exact same thing so I called them back. I asked if I need to put another work order in because the dishwasher was not fixed or if they would come under the same work order. They said that they would schedule me an appointment. They didn't call me back so, I called American Home Shield back and said that the dishwasher wasn't fixed. They said that they would put a work order in or a service order and get the technician back out here. They set us an appointment for Thursday and they said he would be here between 12:00 and 4:00. The guy never showed up.

    I tried calling at 4:30 and got a recording. For three days, I called and got recordings. My call was never returned. On the fourth day, I called. The young lady that works in the office and schedules the service appointments called and said that the technician had an emergency, and they were very sorry that he didn't show up. I said that I left two voicemails and asked if there was a reason I didn't get called back to reschedule. She said she was waiting for the guy to come back to work. She said she would schedule me a different technician. So, she did.

    The guy came in and pulled my dishwasher out. He had a tool. He plugged it into the back of my dishwasher and he said that my pump was perfectly fine. I said that it was a brand new pump but the old pump is still good because it's still doing whatever it was doing. So, it wasn't the pump. He told me that it was the thermostat. He ordered one and the heating element just to be safe. He came back and put it on, and it's been running fine ever since.

    The first guy was good when he came. He took an hour and a half of sitting there on his tablet and trying to figure out what it was. I almost thought that he was YouTubing it at one point. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was just having an off day. When I first called, he was out the next day. But the second guy who came was awesome. The experience with AHS was very good. There's only me and my husband so it wasn't an inconvenience to have to wash dishes. But it could have been worse. It could have been weeks without a dishwasher and that wasn't the case. So, I would still recommend AHS.

    The technician came out and he was really good. He got the job done and he was very professional. So it was good. The toilet is working great. I also had the same company look at a faucet and the tub faucet handle, but it's still stripping. So we got to submit a claim for that and replace it all together because I thought it was fixed. The technician did a temporary fix on it. While he was here working on the toilet, I asked him about the tub handle. So that was sort of an add-on. Overall, the claims process seemed pretty seamless. Having American Home Shield is an affordable way to make sure you avoid catastrophic claims.

    My recent claim with AHS was for my ice maker in the refrigerator. It wasn't working and they came and replaced the icemaker. It went well. I called AHS three times. Two times, it went really smoothly. The other one, we're still working on. My dishwasher broke in December and they were going to replace it. I still don't have a new dishwasher yet and that's been three months. They didn't have any available and they did get with Whirlpool, then Whirlpool didn't have them. Then it took them a while to get it. Now, I'm waiting for them to deliver it. It's been a long process. They should speed things up a little bit somehow. They offered me a different option. But the other option would have been for me to buy the dishwasher. They would pay for it, but then I would have to pay to get it installed. So, I'd still end up spending another couple hundred dollars.

    I could hear electricity buzzing behind a light switch and one of the light bulbs had exploded a couple of weeks earlier. So, while I thought that it was a loose connection, I was not sure and did not want to take the chance that there was more going on. The claim was addressed greatly by American Home Shield. But it used to be simpler to submit a claim than it is now and you used to be able to get an emergency service. You could go online and do it, and that works fine if it isn’t an emergency. I pay for this on my mom's house as well and she had a faucet in the bathroom that broke and nobody over there knew where to shut the water off. It was a mess so, I called AHS. I was told over the phone that the plumber would be out that day. It was on a Saturday when I called and when I got ahold of the plumber, they said that was not true. So, in that case, I got the impression that the person that was on the phone was trying to get me off the phone.

    The person who came out and repaired the fixture did great. It was the person who answered the phone on Saturday that I was not happy with. If they can't send somebody out, then they should let me know that. They should tell me the truth and not tell me what they think I want to hear. Still, I always recommend AHS when new people that move to the neighborhood asks for a home warranty.

    The motor was going out in the freezer and the two icemakers were not working. I called it in to American Home Shield and a guy came out. He said that the refrigerator was not repairable and that we needed to get a replacement from American Home Shield. I talked to American Home Shield. I've probably called them 10 times to get an update on what they're gonna do. I've talked to someone every time, but I haven't gotten anywhere. The last call I got, the rep said it would be no longer than 48 hours. It's now been over 48 hours and I still haven't heard back from American Home Shield on the replacement or the options.

    I did a refrigerator claim to American Home Shield. They're good. The only thing was having to wait for the part to get here. I waited for about three months. I put the claim in on November 20 and then they just came in about two weeks ago. I was given the option to purchase a new one because of the amount of time that I was waiting. I did try to reach out to the company because I need my refrigerator, but it’s very hard to get through the customer service.     I had several visits within the last few months and I had no complaints. The most recent one, they had to take care of my faucet in the shower and the time before that, it was my clothes dryer. He got the parts in and he came right on out and fixed it. I also had a hot water heater and air conditioning unit repaired through American Home Shield and they were good.     I used the website of AHS when I submitted a claim for the AC and it was super user-friendly. I like that I can pay through the website instead of having to cut a check. It was great when they sent the tech out. He was very polite and professional. We also had a claim for the faucet, that was leaking from the input lines. I had to have a whole faucet replaced and it took about two weeks. So it was apparently American Home Shield’s part, the plumber they assigned to us didn't have the faucet in. It took a week to get diagnosed and then a week for the faucet to get installed. But AHS has been everything that I thought it would be. It’s definitely cheaper than 2-10, which I've dealt with in the past.

    The contractor needed to replace some shut-off valves to the washing machine. They had to get approval, so they come back another day. They came out on last week Friday, and then they came back yesterday to replace those valves. The technician did the job really, really fast. I'm surprised that it costs so much money in addition to the $75 fee, and then I paid 135 on top of that for the modification they said. Also, we have to have the drywall fixed. Somebody else is gonna come out for that.

    The water dispenser was broken and the gentleman came out. He was very thorough and professional. The locksmith came too and changed the locks on our home. He was a very good gentleman. We have not had anything but good experience with American Home Shield but they did not explain to us when we bought the home that it would cost $75 service charge every time we used them. It should be explained to the person that's buying the home and purchasing the insurance policy. A lot of things that aren’t covered should be covered. They have mostly large appliances, etc. We've paid a lot of money for the parts and it covers not enough items. We had the house inspected and the inspector did not catch that the wall and the ceiling do not match. There's a gap between the wall and the ceiling and I'm concerned that down the road, we're going to have a big problem with that and that's not covered with the policy.

    I am waiting for the company that came out for our stove claim. There were three or four parts that they said that they were waiting on and there has been no follow-up. Recently, a contractor came out to install the dishwasher and said they couldn't do it because the drain hose was too short. I had to go out and purchase the drain hose. And someone is supposed to come and try to install it today. I have a dishwasher sitting in my kitchen for over a week now. But the tech from Sears for the original diagnosis was courteous.     All I had to do was give American Home Shield a call and let them know that I had the issue. It turned out that it was a wrong setting on my thermostat. Someone did something to it.     My washer went out a few weeks ago, the washer is over fifteen years old and is an LG. I was using the washer on the day it went out and I smelt a burnt out smell. I have an American Home Shield warranty and from previous experience with them knew they probably would balk so I called another technician in for a second opinion before calling AHS. The technician looked at the washer and he determined the washer motor was burnt out. He told me the washer had to be replaced because the washer was obsolete and parts were not available anymore. I got a written statement from this technician and on it he wrote the motor was burnt out. So after this I called AHS and put a service request in to have them send a technician out to look at the washer. They sent one out on March 2nd.

    When this Sears appliance technician arrived he took the washer apart looking for the problem. After a few minutes he stated he had to go out to his van to retrieve a part. He went out and sat in his van for about fifteen minutes talking on his phone and returned with a small plastic part. I asked him at this point if he found the problem and he showed me the part and told me that this part would fix the washer. I told him I did not think so and he became upset and told me he had fifteen years experience and he should not be questioned. I told him go downstairs and put the part on and after he was finished call me and I would go downstairs to run a cycle before he left, he refused and walked out the door without putting the washer back together.

    After he left he called AHS and told them he could not fix the washer because I chased him off. I told AHS he was lying and that my son was in the other room and heard the whole conversation. AHS told me they would send another Sears technician out and they did so on March 8th. This technician arrived on the 8th and plugged the washer in and attempted to start it, I told him the previous technician had took it apart and as a result it probably was not going to work. Besides this I told him the motor was probably burnt out. At that point he told me that LG's warranty should cover the problem. I told him I had just purchased a new LG washer and their warranty only extends ten years. Again my son overheard our conversation.

    After this he left and told me he would make a report to AHS. I had to purchase a new washer (attached is a receipt) because to date AHS has not replaced the washer. Because of Covid-19 all laundromats are closed and it is unsanitary to go without a washer for too long. AHS has told me that it against their policy to make a replacement for an appliance until the technician makes a report, to date the second technician has not made a report. Finally under extenuating circumstances I felt I had to purchase a new washer because of the spread of Covid-19. Because laundry mats are closed it is unsanitary to be without a washer for too long...

    The tech came out twice. The first time, he tried to check and fix it but he couldn’t. It was during the snowstorm and when he was coming to install the part, he told me it was not for sure when he could get the parts so I was ready to wait a little bit.     My heat was out. The technician came out very quickly. He was excellent and very professional. He had to get a part. I live in Minnesota, so it's cold a lot. He actually had heat restored before he left to get the replacement and came back within an hour and had me up and running. The next day, I was without heat again. I called on a Sunday night or 3:00 in the morning. Then I got the text the next morning saying they would have a technician to me the following day. I told them that I was without heat that time and so the lady at their center got someone out the same day. They were fantastic. I was very pleased.

    My furnace is ancient and I have had a complete module replacement. American Home Shield replaced the blower.     The contractor came out for two things. One was for my oven that wasn't working and they found it was something simple. Something was misaligned. Apparently, I tried to put something in the grill part and it kind of knocked something off. All they did was just put the piece back on which is really sad. The next thing was my dryer. They said they have to order some parts for it then they would get back with me when the parts would come in.

    I've had AHS on and off at least for the last 20 something years. I stayed with them for the most part. Every time I've switched over, I was never happy so I've always come back to them. I would never switch again. I tell all my friends about them and 100% go with them. They usually tell me who the contractor is and the contractor will be in touch with me. They also give me the phone number to the contractor. If I wanted to call before I got a call, I could give them a call.

    Submitting the claim was easy. The only hiccup that I had with the service was when they initially put my information in from the very beginning, my information was incorrect.     I had a partial outage in my living room and part of another room. The company that came out is great. They are very good about getting to me and letting me know what the issue is and how to address it. The technicians addressed the problem quickly. However, I now have flickering in my garage, master bedroom, and master bathroom. The lights flicker all the time now.

    I would recommend American Home Shield because I got it from my mom. If they have an app, the claim would be even faster. You could just click what you need and it would be submitted. You could say which type of process are you messing with like if it's electrical, plumbing, or a particular appliance. You click that and you could type what the issue is so that when a person sees it, he could say "Oh, this, this, this, we know." It would be a smooth transition. It could be there and everybody can see it. You can get the responses via text and it would be so much easier versus using the automated system where you're trying to tell it what you need but it doesn't understand and you have to wait for someone.

    The heater started making a weird noise and stopped heating. I was assigned NW Sundance Services and I was afraid after reading the reviews. But they were awesome. They were very friendly and on time. They gave me a heads-up 5 to 10 minutes ahead of their visit. I had a good experience with them. They looked at the problem and after the diagnostic, the technicians found that something was off. They replaced the PCB board and inductor motor then they tried starting the heater. They realized the rotor motor was also messed up. They scheduled another call and another follow-up appointment after a few days. They then replace the rotor motor. Now, I have no noise and the heater is heating properly.
