American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

The vendor was very accommodating and the follow up was fantastic. The only problem I have with AHS is in soliciting the requests for work to be done. It’s hard to get through to the reps. Their English is not always very good. Sometimes they're a little quick on the draw. They’re not listening to you. I'm not picking on them at all, I'm saying that from a standpoint of trying to get something taken care of. Except for that, I'm very satisfied. The people that AHS had come to work on my stuff in the past have done a wonderful job. They are great vendors. I've got two policies with AHS and I’m probably gonna add another shortly for another home I got. I would recommend them to anybody.

The tech had to replace a flap in one toilet and had to replace the whole deal on the inside of the toilet in another one. I had a leaky faucet upstairs and he fixed that too. He had to replace something with a knob. Everything is working perfectly. He was very professional and he did it in a timely manner.

My daughter had had a policy with somebody else, and it was a lower deductible, but it wasn’t a good thing. I saw the advertisement several times, and I decided to go with American Home Shield. I’ve had two claims, and they've taken care of both of them. I did the claims online and both times, the claim went right through without any problem. One claim was for the garage door opener. I had the policy in place a month and a half, and the garage opener died. It was considered obsolete, so they put a brand new one in.
The garage door opener would have been extremely costly and close to 1,200 bucks. I talked to someone else about the icemaker on the refrigerator that was repaired and they said, “Oh, if it's the motherboard, it’s going to be over $300.” 100 bucks is my deductible, and it was done, so it’s great. Both repair men were great too. The one who came for the refrigerator was very nice, professional and wore a mask and booties.

The tech people came out and checked out the stove. They said that it's doubtful they're going to find the parts but American Home Shield said they needed to research it. I wish they had taken into consideration and paid attention to what the tech was telling them. Then, I was told that I would have the stove yesterday but I got a phone call from the people that are bringing the stove and it's not coming until Friday. I like to cook and I've been without an oven for quite some time now.

American Home Shield sent out an email to me, saying to remember to check my AC so I got it checked out. I needed two additional bottles of Freon and the tech was running a little bit late but I got a phone call. He was nice and very informative. He had little things that you put on your shoes to make sure he didn't track in a whole bunch of stuff. I like the website of AHS where you talk about the other things that we need to make sure that we keep the AC clean, like our dryer vent.

I had American Home Shield years ago. But when I bought this house in 2012, the seller already had a policy with somebody. I kept that policy until 2019 and then I got American Home Shield in 2020. With my experiences from years ago and this time, American Home Shield has been on point.

A contractor has come out twice in the last two months and I'm disappointed in the repairs to the fridge. It's working but it's not 100%. They modified the repairs so that it would work but my fridge is uneven because of what they did to make it work. But the washing machine job that they did was awesome. They did a good job with the cleanup. I would refer others to American Home Shield 100%. So far, I've been very happy with their service directly.

The tech came in, fixed the problem and left. He did great. The service was fine. The problem was something about a pipe leaking around the toilet. American Home Shield has been beneficial. That's why I keep it. We've used it a couple times, and it's been great.

Eventually, everything works out well with American Home Shield. But, it takes forever to get them to answer a phone call. Sometimes, I have to wait an hour and a half to be on hold. It's been very difficult on a computer as well as that doesn't give me a person that can individualize my care. I've had them for 20 years and it's getting more and more difficult. They should have people answer the telephone when I call. Also, while some of their contractors have been very good, others have been very poor. I like the air conditioning company though. They do a good job.

There was an issue with my pool capacitor. The contractor contacted me almost immediately. They came out and fixed the problem right away. That went well. I also had a previous service for my AC and that was not great so I probably wouldn't call American Home Shield for any HVAC stuff. The gentleman from Mr. Freeze HVAC who diagnosed the unit gave an inaccurate opinion. He was just trying to charge me more for some Freon that I did not need. I replaced the circuit board on my own and that was $900. The AC guy was questionable. At that point, I questioned what kind of contractors American Home Shield was working with.

The oven wasn't working. I contacted American Home Shield, then they contacted the contractor. The company gave me a call to set up a date. The came. He was great. He did the service and he was gone. It was fixed the same day, so that was a plus. AHS is a 24-hour service, so that's always a great thing. If anything happens in the middle of the night, I can always get on the phone and call and make a claim. Also, they've got great customer service and they're a great company overall.

There was water leaking under my furnace in the house. American Home Shield set someone up immediately to have them come out, so that was a good thing. Except that they kept raising my rates. Their pricing is ridiculous. I started out at 49.99, and now, I'm paying 71.99 a month. But Kemph Heating and Air were the ones that came out the last time and they were very good. They went up the roof and found the problem as to why the stack leaked into my furnace. The cylinder wasn't pushed down and they fixed that.

Someone came out and fixed my garage door. It was not opening and closing. American Home Shield didn’t pay for it though. I had to pay for it out of my pocket. When I got this coverage, they told me it was covered but when I got ready to use it, I soon found out that it wasn’t covered. Their customer service was fine. As far as the techs, they can get more quality people here. There was one that came out, and they didn’t do quality work. I told AHS, “Don’t even send them back to my house.”

AHS is worth the monthly amount. Whenever something happens, you just make a phone call and submit a claim. You could literally do a claim from your phone if you can get on that. It's very easy. I just submit the claim and forget it. Then boom, right away, I get a message. They respond right away, which is good. Recently, I submitted a claim for my heater for the pool. WorryFree Pools came out a while back and put in a filter. Then, because of that, I use them every year to open and close my pool because they do good work and I can trust them. I don't have to worry about being there. They’re gonna do it right.

I went to the website, and then clicked on the Make Requests, and then, selected things. What is not easy is, for example, I included a pipe leak, but then it turned out that it wasn't part of my contract. But it was still available in the options for me to select. I also reported one of the faucets was leaking in the bathtub, and that's not included in my particular contract. I selected it when I made the request. But when Brick Street Plumbing called me to make the appointment and I reported what the issue was, they said that that was not part of my contract. But they listened to what the issue was and then, they came twice because I reported three toilets.
The first time they came out, they worked on two of the toilets that they treated. And then, they had to come back for the third one. The solution that they put in place at that time was not working. They were professional, asked relevant questions and tried to understand what the problem was and resolved it. In general, I have a good experience with American Home Shield. But I'm questioning the overall value of the contract, whether it's beneficial to have something like that or not for the few times that I have those issues. Because if I look at the list of issues a lot of them are not stuff I would call for because we don't have anything related to that.

We submitted a claim about two weeks ago for our washing machine. It was making noise but the repair people said it was not broken so it was not covered. We used it for three months then the drum really became loose. A technician came out because we can not use the machine anymore and it was making a loud noise. The technician said we overloaded the washing machine and that it was overused. But it's just the three of us. We wash our clothes practically every day because we do not want to accommodate the COVID virus in our laundry. Once we get home, I take off my clothes and I wash them. But before, we only washed three times a week.
Another technician was sent to see if they have the same diagnosis. I asked the guy the cause of the problem with the washing machine and he said it was wear and tear. I asked if it was from overloading or overuse and he said no because you can use your washing machine every day. Right now, we are waiting to know if American home Shield will replace the drum or if they are going to give us another washing machine.
We had a claim for our refrigerator that started last year. We got approved this year on our refrigerator. American Home Shield said we could buy the refrigerator that we wanted but they would only cover so much. All we had to do was to send the proof of purchase and proof of the licensed installer. That was months ago and American Home Shield has yet to send us the reimbursement.
Overall, American Home Shield sends a technician in a couple of days in order to fix whatever needs to be fixed when we request service. And the problem is solved. The only thing is when it came to a point that an appliance cannot be fixed. It takes them a long time to evaluate how are they gonna take care of the problem like if they are gonna give us a new appliance. If the repair is costing too much, they will not fix it.

The Sunshine team came out. They were good guys and they did a good job. Everything was fine. They made a few suggestions on things that should be looked at. But unfortunately, American Home Shield doesn't cover any of it, which was frustrating. But the actual vendors themselves were responsive and helpful, so that was good. It's also easy to file a claim with AHS, but it's painful to get someone out here. It always seems like two-plus weeks. We had a few people come for the washer-dryer set. It was two weeks delay to get someone out here, which was really frustrating. But the people are okay. It's just the scheduling isn't very accommodating.

The Freon was low on the AC and when we called American Home Shield, they gave us the company who would be coming. They called my wife immediately to confirm when they were gonna come. They came on time and fixed the AC.

Sam was very professional. He brought his own set of towels to soak up the water that came out of my icemaker. He cleaned up everything upon departure. Everything went well. Submitting the claim was a very easy process. I went online, and followed the text, and it took no time.

I've had several contractors. One of them came recently and they were very punctual, professional and knew the moment they walked up what needed to be done to correct the problem. They went and got the parts. They showed back up at the appointed time and repaired it. Everything went well and I could not have asked for more. Those guys were great and I could highly recommend them.
Get American Home Shield. You've got the annual or monthly fee, but you find out these days that so many things can go wrong and there's a lot of comfort in a $75 fee. When something goes wrong, it's overwhelmingly covered. You never can say it's 100% covered, but the specifics of correcting the problem is there, so I'm very pleased with it.

The light of my microwave stayed on forever and it got hot. So, I turned off my microwave, waited a while, and turned it back on. It wouldn't work. The contractor scheduled a time out the following day. The tech came out the next day. He took the microwave apart and checked everything out. He showed me the problem and he happened to have that little part. He put it in and it was an easy fix. I was so worried that he might have to take it in. I'm very satisfied with my experience. I've recommended AHS to a friend of mine whose husband had died and so she has to make all the decisions. I told her "Just do them. AHS is easy and less trouble."

Having American Home Shield is convenient. We had a leaky faucet in the bathroom and we made a plumbing claim. The process was a lot easier than it was in the past. The company that they assigned the claim to was very responsive and they took care of what needed to be taken care of. The repair was a lot simpler than what I thought. There was something that had disconnected under the sink which was causing a flow of water. We shut the water off. The tech took care of things and let me know about my other issue as well with plumbing. I was really happy because not all service people are honest like the one we got with that company. Everything was fixed. I was pleased overall.
I had a pool claim with American Home Shield in the past. The person American Home Shield sent out told me something that was a total lie just to get extra money. My pool operator is certified and he treats the water, cleans the pool, and maintains it. He told me that the person American Home Shield sent out was just trying to get a new pool motor off of my insurance or through American Home Shield. If I have a pool operator that's certified, I would like to be able to choose who I would like for certain things especially if I have a relationship with them and I trust them. I would feel much more comfortable with that than going through a longer approval process.

American Home Shield sent someone for my heater that wasn't working. I was trying to get the scheduling done right away, but I had to wait until the next day. I understand because they can be pretty busy this time around. So, I called back and I've been switched to a different vendor. I was happy with it. The first vendor could not do it. So, I had them switch to a different vendor, but the other vendor also was all booked. I ended up just going with the second vendor, and early the next day, they came out and took care of my issue.
I had quite a few stuff done with American Home Shield. They worked on my stove, my oven and my water heater. They worked on my sink, too. I'm pretty satisfied with them. There was one instance that was for a washer, and the tech took multiple trips and a lot of back and forth. I wasn't too happy with that one, but I also understand, with the pandemic, a lot of the parts were not available and the vendors were not following up on a prompt manner. But eventually, we got it settled, and then they gave me a check to replace the washer.

I spoke with the tech on the phone and told him what the issue was, so when he got there, he already knew exactly what he was gonna be doing. He got there at the time he said he would and got the problem fixed pretty fast. I'm pleased with the service. I definitely will recommend American Home Shield. It's worth having.

We had a problem with a dead thermostat. Technicians came and they were knowledgeable. We had no heating or cooling so the repair helped tremendously. AHS is a good company and I'd tell others to use it. When we got a home, we were going to be given a different home warranty but I asked that we get AHS.

The hot water tank started leaking water. I was on guard at first. They wanted the cash upfront. I wouldn’t give it to him till they did the job. I put it on the table and it worked out. The tech that was sent was cool. He did a really good job, waited to be paid the cash, and actually turned around. AHS replaced it, which I could have bought and replaced for cheaper than what this service cost me. But I didn’t have to tussle with the hot water heater, so it was pretty good. The only thing with AHS is that you have to wait forever after something’s broken to get it fixed.

American Home Shield is very good, helpful, and efficient. Once I telephone, they help me solve many problems. I got a broken air conditioner in the summertime, a broken toilet, and the oven recently. But the company hasn't come for the oven issue. I've been waiting for more than two weeks now. But the toilet, they came very efficiently. The toilet leaked a lot of water. The plumbing came several times to fix it. It's very good so far. The plumbing is a good company. I will continue to use AHS next year.

Initially, our claim for our refrigerator was scheduled for this week. But I reached out to the guy and he came earlier. So it was really very good service. I would highly recommend the company that serviced me. AHS provides excellent service too.

The overhead microwave went out. When the tech came, my wife was there and she told me he was in and out pretty quickly. We explained to him what was going on over the phone and from there, he had a pretty good idea of what it was and brought the part with him. He repaired it. I've had numerous claims with AHS and everything was wonderful. I've used the plumber that they sent out couple of times. I've had the same microwave worked on a couple of times. I also had an air conditioning problem and then I had the thermostat worked on in the last year and a half. I've had my automatic garage door opener redone here a while back, and also had to have a hot water tank put in. I've had no problems. But unfortunately, anytime I've talked to American Home Shield, it's been with someone overseas, and I haven't been real happy with that.

I just got the policy and it was like as soon as I got it, everything fell apart. That was good timing and a blessing for me. Recently, my stove was getting too hot. The next day, one side of my oven was hot and the other side wasn't. When I looked in my oven, I thought it was on fire. I filed a claim and was told that I would hear from a contractor within 24 hours to schedule an appointment. It was maybe a couple of weeks or so before they were able to get out here so we weren't able to cook anything but we were very happy that we didn't eat at home. For my stove, the tech said that they had to replace something that was on the inside of the stove. Then he had to put a new heater coil on the bottom and everything went well with that.

It took about a week for someone to come out to fix my malfunctioning refrigerator. Then the tech just diagnosed the problem and ordered the part. He said that it would take one to two weeks to get that part and he just came yesterday. We also had to have a microwave replaced and I was satisfied with that claim.

The most recent claim was for my microwave that wasn’t working. The contractor had to order a box. It must have something to do with a heating coil because it would run and you could smell something but it would never heat up. Everything was handled in a timely fashion which I was used to because that isn’t the first time I've called AHS for something. Everybody that I had dealings with with my water heater, with my furnace, and now with the microwave, has been very professional and pleasant. I'm very satisfied.

Home Shield was very informative when I made my first claim to them so I was happy. They answered all my questions and they got me someone right away. The young man that worked on my sump pump seemed to be very knowledgeable but he missed something that was part of what was wrong with it. Instead of getting to replace a part, he's wired it. He said he will put it like this for right now because the water will drain from under the house, which it is doing. But it's not a permanent fix. I'm hoping he would come back and fix it. If not then I would have to call again, which bothers me because he wrote on the report that he completed the job when he hasn't. The man told me he is going to come back to do the fix but I don't think he is. I'm concerned about it.

We've used AHS a few times and it's going well. It's come in handy though I wish they did vinyl siding repair. We replaced our microwave recently with it. We also did have somebody come out and look at the AC because we had a musty smell and they were able to resolve the issue. They're a good company. It seemed like they had to travel far. Their van didn't have Columbia as a location. The people that came out last year for the AC repair were local but we found them less courteous and less thorough.

The guy from Angel Appliances was very polite. He did what he needed to do, ordered the parts, and fixed the issues, except the microwave. I got an email that I have to pick a microwave. But I had another claim, which is for the furnace, and the furnace is separate from regular appliances. It was a different call and instead of paying $100 for what I believe to be everything, it turned out to be $200. That’s not the way it used to be back in the day.
Then, we wanted the furnace guy to check the entire system. Rooms were cold when they should not be and they're hot when they shouldn't be. It wasn't until my husband pushed and prodded that he finally went down the crawlspace. He found there was a big hole and he repaired that. But I expected them to scope it or something to see if there are other holes. The unit still runs all the time so the air flow is not being evenly distributed.
Years ago, we had another house before the big old market crash way back when. And we had one service call. They came out, checked every appliance in the house. We didn’t have to ask them. We just said we were having trouble with the stove and the fridge. The guy checked all the appliances because it was part of what was covered, and that was awesome,

We got the walls replaced in our shower stall and after we realized that we could not replace the piping that goes with the new shower set we bought, we had to put the old set back on. But then the handle broke. The plumbers came out and said that they wouldn't cover the removal and replacement of that other part because it was already busted. I really enjoyed them both. One of them was an apprentice. The main guy gave us some advice and then the other one was checking to see how everything was done. I appreciate that they are willing to give us advice rather than trying to charge a bunch of money for stuff.
When we first moved in, the air conditioning went out. So we had to claim against that and we got that dealt with. We also had a hot water heater replaced. So we had a couple of claims with American Home Shield and always had good service. Mostly it’s Budget Heating Cooling & Plumbing and they're always very professional.

There was a small drip at the water main as it was coming into the house in the basement. The technician who was sent out was very kind, answered questions and took his time. He didn't seem hurried. Now, the drip is fixed. I had American Home Shield in the past at a previous home. The service was okay. It wasn't as good as it is now. It's much easier to request a service now. I like that there's follow up in a digital format like in emails or text messages.

The refrigerator was working but the bottom of the seal was shredded and had to be replaced. I got an email that said my claim had been put in and Sears would be my provider and if I didn't hear from Sears in two or three days, I should give them a call. I gave them a call and they had not received the repair request. So, I had to go back and have it refiled. When the first time that Sears came out, they didn't have the right seal for the refrigerator. It took another week to get the seal but they came in, installed it, and everything was fine.

The contractor fixed the ice maker but you can't take the ice from the inside of the refrigerator because the whole thing freezes into one block of ice. We have to call them back and tell them to come back out. American Home Shield’s copayments are too pricey but it's better than having to deal with the problem. It's convenient and they’re doing their job.

The techs did an initial assessment of an issue that I had with my dishwasher and determined that it was unrepairable. Today, they're bringing out a new one. American Home Shield has done a great job. I've been very happy with their service whenever I have to take advantage of it. I have recommended it to others.

I refer a lot of friends and co-workers to AHS. When things go out at home, I explain to them the process and they appreciate that. If I have a really difficult situation, for example, my furnace and my air conditioning, whoever they contract with call us and come right out. The visit for my recent claim went well. We did a claim to American Home Shield for the air conditioner for the house. It just froze up. We had a power surge in the house with all the big storms that came through. After the power came back on, for about 15 minutes, the AC never came back on. I called the claim in, told them what we had, and they scheduled up a contractor to come out here to repair it, and then we had to wait about three days. We were comfortable with it. The tech came out here, and he responded fine. He was very courteous, did great with us, and he got it fixed. Every time, AHS has been great for us. The contractors they hire have been doing good. Everything's been satisfactory on our end for them so far.

My hot water tank started leaking around the bottom. I called late morning as soon as I found the leak and that afternoon, Brick Street had a guy here. He examined the tank, took pictures of it, and said they would have to send the pictures in to American Home Shield and see if they would authorize the repair. That was either Wednesday or Thursday. Friday came up and of course, the weekend. I called AHS and they said they don't do anything on the weekends. Monday came, I called both Brick Street and AHS. They said that they were working on it. It was Tuesday or Wednesday before the guy finally came out and replaced my hot water tank. And all that time, it was leaking in my basement.
The plumbers that were here were outstanding. They were very professional, knew what they were doing, super good. The thing that just upset me was the amount of out-of-pocket that I had to spend. The extras that I ended up paying for, I almost fell off the end of my chair. It was almost $700 worth of extras. And they said that everything had to be up to code. They put up a little aluminum pan under the hot water tank which they said was code. And that must cost a couple hundred dollars. It was probably a $2 item if I got one myself. Then they put a mixing valve on top of the hot water tank because the tank they took out was an 80 gallon and they could only put a 50 in.
But they did this water mixing which is nothing but two valves on top of the tank where one, water comes in, one, water goes out, and they connected them across. I didn't understand the whole gist to that thing. It was just a hell of a lot of money on my part. I figured, I would maybe have 150 bucks and the extras. But I could have went and got a tank and hired a plumber myself and saved myself $500. But everything is working fine.

We're very happy with American Home Shield. We had a water heater replaced and the whole claims process, from call to installation, took six days. We also had a claim for the washing machine and it went good as well. We have to have the unit replaced, but it seems like they're covering it.

My most recent claim to American Home Shield was the same issue I had back in September when the first technician came out and he said the receptacle in the front porch needed to be replaced. By the time I got home, he had already done it. I asked them to not come out again because he didn't give me a chance to ask any questions.
This time, when they came out, they were very helpful. The tech told me that the reset button just needed to be pushed, which runs the current up on my house. He was professional and friendly. He gave me some information on the weather and stuff that can cause it to trip. So, before I ever had a need to call again, I can try to push the reset button. They checked all the outlets on the outside and confirmed the power from the house was working. Everything's still working fine right now.
The only concern I had was I thought AHS said that when you file a claim, you don't pay the deductible for the same claim. When I first signed up for it, the customer service rep told me that if I'd have a problem, and it's the same problem again, I do not pay the deductible again. But then, they told me that it's within 30 days. I just didn't know about that part.

The handle on the microwave was broken off and the temperature on the range was not consistent. I'd set it at 400 and it would only go up to 300. AHS sent a technician out. He was efficient and he determined that the microwave was not fixable. It was their second attempt to fix it. For the range, he ordered a part and replaced it. We waited about two and a half weeks and it turned out they ordered the wrong part. We had to wait another week for the real part to come in.

I smelled smoke and the air conditioning wasn't running. American Home Shield told me that the contractor would be out. They were punctual and efficient. They came in and found where the wires. The ac overheated and there was no fuse. They corrected it and that was it. I've had AHS for years. And before the air conditioning, they sent contractors out for my washer, dryer and the refrigerator freezer. The only problem with the freezer was the availability of the compressor. And before that, I had two calls on a microwave. We have always been satisfied with them. They're good and fast. It's worth the money. Air conditioning can run a lot of money to replace.

The refrigerator side wasn't working properly and everything was spoiling. Also, on the door of the freezer side, the water doesn't come out, it's broken. It had to be replaced. I called GE and they said that they would be sending somebody out to fix it and they gave me a date. Then, they canceled it because they knew they didn't have the part for the door. It really aggravated me. I told them that they had to fix the refrigerator side because my food was spoiling. They got somebody that same day to do that. He was fantastic, nice, and did a good job. Now we're waiting for the freezer door side to get here, but it hasn't come. I was always pleased and impressed with American Home Shield.

AHS has helped us tremendously. There was a leak that Ken Tyler Plumbing detected and fixed. Also, when the icemaker on the bottom of the refrigerator wasn't working, the tech fixed that wonderfully. But there's another issue with the refrigerator and I've called the number but the tech didn't answer.

They must be going through some type of vetting process 'cause they always seem to come out and do a professional job and always act courteously and professionally. They were professional, wore masks, did everything, great at questions, did some extra lock stuff for me that wasn't covered, and it was great and it was cheap. I had an outlet behind my couch that's connected to a switch, and if we plugged anything in, it would blow a fuse. I went online and I submitted the claim on American Home Shield's website. When I call American Home Shield, my issues are addressed. This is the first time that I will have them do some follow-up work. The repair guy fixed one part on my plumbing claim and on one, I needed a new faucet. He told me he can order it and that I can also choose one that I like and he'll put it in. So, that's probably what I'll do. Northeast Florida Contractors was very good but one other group that I had that I got from American Home Shield wanted to tear down the wall. I wasn't crazy about that so I waited a while and I called again. This guy went in there and I told him what the problem was. He looked at both areas. He opened it up and fixed it. He said that I shouldn't have any more leaks there. The service with AHS is beneficial and good. It's like having someone you can call.

AHS will help you with whatever issues you'll be having for your appliances. My first claim was for the refrigerator that stopped working. I called for a technician to come out. There was some delay in getting them out because of COVID. A couple of times, I questioned the American Home Shield people and they were able to assign some tech. He came a couple of times and after that, he mentioned that we needed to replace the refrigerator and refrigerator has been replaced. For my second claim, AHS sent a tech and he diagnosed the water damage in the vent. He said that needed to be replaced. Within the week, we scheduled another appointment and within the three weeks, I got a part over that particular company. The next week, the tech came and installed as he promised. Yesterday, I submitted one claim regarding my dishwasher. AHS assigned a contractor but yesterday evening, the dishwasher started working so I canceled my service request.

I had some backups and stoppages. The claim went really well and the plumber was out that same day. He had to snake the drains and check my septic. He recommended that we have our septic pumps cleared. He was very professional, informative, and patient. I can get annoying but he was very understanding and he answered all my questions.
I wish we could have a different plan with AHS that didn't triple our monthly cost. I would also like to see a few other things worked into a monthly plan. Other than that, I love AHS and I tell everybody about it.

My water heater was leaking. In a day or two, I got a response from a technician. They came out immediately, surveyed, and gave a diagnosis. Not soon after, American Home Shield contacted me to discussed their diagnosis and what my plan covered. The technicians kept me informed every step of the way from the diagnosis, to the ordering of the parts, to the length of time it would take to get the parts in, and then the length of time in which they would come to do the work. I really didn't know how AHS's process goes but they walked me through it every step of the way. So, I'm very pleased with them.

We had a water heater that went out. It was leaking. We had a little bit of trouble trying to get in contact with the plumbing company. The plumber and American Home Shield weren’t in sync on how long it was gonna take to get things moving as far as getting the materials together. The plumber thought it was gonna be a next-couple-of-days thing, but it ended up being a week and a half type of deal. Other than that timeline issue, everything else was in place and the actual work went well. Communication went pretty good and the app was pretty straightforward.

When I first placed the problem with the plumbing, the rep was telling me that if there was a problem with an appliance, it would be replaced with the same model. I don't think that that would be possible as a lot of these appliances that are in my house are like 20 to 30 years old. Those models don't exist. I asked, “Wouldn't you give a similar kind of coverage to what was there rather than trying to find the same model?” That was kind of confusing.
It was frustrating trying to talk with people that had absolutely no clue about the actual repair that was needed to be done. They tried their best but they did not speak good English and it was hard to understand their accent. I couldn't get across why was covid a factor. I kept asking the rep, “I need to know exactly what they're planning on doing. Are they going to dig?” She'd go and make calls, come back, and still wasn't able to answer my question.
I took notes on what she said. She said there was gonna be carpentry. There's no carpentry. She had no clue about what the actual process was and the plumbing materials that they were going to be using. I didn't know until the contractor walked in today. I asked them, “Are you going to be having to dig?” They said no but I was told by two different people they were going to dig up my basement. Nobody knew because they wouldn't let me talk to the actual people that were going to do the work. It’s interesting also that it was covered when it was considered a blockage. But because they couldn't snake and get it to work and clear the blockage, then it became not covered.
Other than that, American Home Shield has been okay. I come from a position where I have not had to use the service before. I've dealt personally with the contractors rather than having an in-between. That is frustrating to me as I'm not used to having the in-between. Before the contractors could do work, they have to get permission from American Home Shield. That is like a new experience for me but I'll get used to it. It's nice having the coverage and the actual contractors have been professional, very informative, knowledgeable and friendly. I've been very pleased with them.

Our dryer broke in May 2020. They were quick to send out technicians for repair but when it came to replacement, we are still waiting. It’s March 2021. We did get an email 2 weeks ago confirming a replacement has been ordered, but we still haven’t received response from customer service—though we have emailed them twice since receiving confirmation of the order.

I had American Residential Warranty for two years and I changed over to American Home Shield in March because of ConsumerAffairs. I went online on my phone, and they asked me a certain amount of questions. I answered them and they said they would suggest the best warranty for me. I already had American Residential Warranty, but American Home Shield also came out first, so I chose them. I didn't get the runaround once I made the call to American Home Shield. Even though I was disappointed a bit, it was not the same thing. Once I called American Home Shield and I told them I needed my garage door remote changed, they said that would be a separate charge. I didn't do it, but I understood.
The rep said it'd be $100 for each service because of the different kinds of services. The rep explained to me that if it’s two services on the same line of work, I could pay them $100 and get more than one thing done. It’s best to wait to do something under one service as opposed to having people come out three separate times and pay a $100 service fee each time. The service fee is more than what I paid at American Residential, which was 55, but I did not like the service that I got from American Residential. I like this service.
I had a roommate who moved out and returned my keys, but I wanted to be sure that no extra keys were made. I had to have the locks on my front door rekeyed. American Home Shield told me they contacted Pop-A-Lock, but I wasn't sure they’d come out that evening. Once the technician from Pop-A-Lock contacted me, he said he could come out at 4 o'clock, so he was out here the same day and he did the change.
I have four locks on two doors, two locks on the wood door, and two locks on the screen door. The guy made new keys for that. I had to pay extra because they didn't do the large door keys because he said it was outside my condo. Other than that, he was friendly and he knew what he was doing. It was a good experience. There was also a survey that came on my cellphone and I put a good report.

We didn't have any electricity in the two front rooms of our house. Come to find out it was a GFCI outlet on the outside of the house. It was connected with that. So, the electrician had to replace the GFCI outlet. He was great. He even told me what he was doing and explained to me why he was doing it. He had to check each one and how each outlet has two sections to check, a positive and negative. This experience was great. The first time I did a claim to American Home Shield, I was told I could get a maintenance on my air conditioner for $75 and they charged me $100. They were supposed to look into it and I haven't heard anything. So that experience was not great. As far as I'm concerned, I was overcharged $25.
Also, I would like to have English speaking people. I feel like the call center is in India and that they're just reading off a script. I don't have a racist bone in my body but that just irritated me when I could not get them to understand what I was trying to ask. I kept calling the maintenance because that was what was told to me when I was sold. Come to find out it's called preseason check on the AC. They did not understand what I was talking about at all. They had no clue. Finally, after my second call, the guy had to call back, he had to put me on hold and he looked. He said, "Yeah, it's $75." When I had $100 taken out of my checking account, I called back and they said, "No. Your claim is $100." Overall, if you're dealing with just online, it's fine. But if you have to call customer service, it needs improvement.

When I had American Home Shield in Washington State, I was thrilled. I told everyone to get them and everyone did. Then since I moved to Nevada about seven years ago before this time, I had called AHS twice. Both times, the service was bad. Them not paying for a lot of things was bad. I had some plumbing stuff done, and the guy left and he didn't really fix it. I have five kids. When I called to say, “Hey, it's still an issue,” I got a, “Well, it's past the time we can do anything about it.” I was like, “Whatever, life is too hard. I'm not dealing with this.”
This time, the person that they got to come out was wonderful. He fought hard on the phone to get things approved. So, it was a much better experience. I had been thinking of dropping AHS and this one was like, “Oh, this is why I have them. This is how it used to be.” So, that was very encouraging. I had to call the plumbing place because he did some pretty big work in my master bathroom shower for a new faucet. The previous homeowners had Jerry-rigged it all funky. So, he fixed it. I'm seeing that it's dripping just a little bit. I do have to call him back for that. Everything else is wonderful.
This is the first time I ever did a claim online. I had tried twice to do it over the phone and that was taking way too long to get anyone. I hate online, but it was pretty easy. I was a little worried because with the things I had to click, there were so many options. I was like, “Oh, no. Are they gonna say, ‘This isn't exactly what you said?’” It turned out to be just fine. It was quick and easy online.

I did a pre-season check-up and the technicians showed up on time. They did what they needed to do and told me that I need to replace my whole system. The thing is they still haven't filed their report, which is a little annoying. They were supposedly doing it this morning. I had other people look at my system and everybody agrees that it needs to be replaced.
My bigger complaint is with AHS. Today, I was finally able to get them to state, "Even if there's a recommendation for the system to be replaced, we will not cover that and we will only fix stuff." I wasted five phone calls just trying to get them to tell me what they would do. I was talking to a call center in Manila or somewhere and the rep was very nice and wanted to be helpful. But essentially, that person was just reading my policy back to me, which is something I can do. AHS has a good process but it's not very efficient on their end with the way that they do it and that it has to be their contractor. You are completely reliant on their system working for you as opposed to being able to call someone out and getting things taken care of. That's unfortunate, but that's the way it works.

I had American Home Shield for a good many years. Last year, I was so disgusted, because last year was our pandemic, and my refrigerator went out. And they sent the crappiest company of all. I've dealt with that company before years ago. And I said, “You're sending me this person?” I had somebody come before that because my refrigerator went out, we were in a pandemic, I lost all my food. We couldn't even find any food so I didn't want to lose any more than I had to. If I had an opportunity to buy some meat, I needed somewhere to keep it.
I called a reputable refrigerant company to come and look at my refrigerator. And the guy said, “I'm sorry, ma'am. You know what, I am in the repair business, and I would want your service, but to be honest with you, this refrigerator is not worth fixing. Your compressor is shot.” So, I called AHS and said, “Look, my refrigerator is not working. I did call this other company, he said the compressor is shot.” And they said, “Well, they’re not listed under us. So we have to send one of our technicians out.” I said, “Are you kidding me?” And they said, “No, that’s just the way it is. We have to send our own repair person out.” “Okay, so that's another three days that I wait now.” That repair person came out and that person said, “Oh, no, it's just the switch or something."
Recently, none of the outlets worked on one side of the house. The contractor came out to see why I had no electricity. In the bedroom, I have listed all the outlets that weren't working and I told them which outlets and switches that were not working. When the technician came out the first day, he checked all the ones that weren't working and checked ones that were working. And I said, “Well, that's odd that you’re checking.” He says, “No, I have to check it because it's probably on this circuit.” He checked every one that was following in that circuit. And sure enough, that was the problem.
Even though I had something plugged into that one outlet, the wires were burnt. He repaired a strip that was in that. And then he left, and I thought, “Oh my gosh, maybe I should have had him check the other one.” Because then I got scared. The other one in the bedroom works too, but what if those wires were bad? So I called them back and I said, “You know what? Can you just have him come back and check that other outlet that's in the bedroom?” He came back, checked it, and changed the outlet.
I also asked him to check my fuse boxes, because I said, “It’s really odd that this happened and none of my fuses were tripped.” So, he did. He came on. And he said, “Well, they’re all okay,” but he explained to me how the circuit runs, and that one bad outlet made the whole circuit go bad. But because you still have one hot and one cold wire, even though the others weren’t working, they still had a hot wire. So they weren’t completely dead. Because when he checked them, he said, “Well, you have power here.” That was why the breaker didn’t trip. But the circuit, somehow or another, with the bad wiring, it caused them to not meet the full circuit. That’s why I have no power. It sounded so darn scary to me because we could plug things into our outlets that have burnt wires in them. And if it had been gone on left untreated, I could have had a house fire.
He seemed like he knew what he was doing if he went to go and check the outlet that I thought was the only one working, and he was led to it. And he got it fixed. And all my other outlets that I thought were bad were working. I had two other people come out to look at it. And none of them went to the source. They all stuck their little thing in the outlet and said, “Well, this is not good.” I said, “What do you mean?” “Well, you got power, but somewhere along the lines, something’s not working.” I told them, “Well, this one’s working.” None of them said, “Well, you know what? I still have to check it because of how the circuit runs.” I was very grateful and highly impressed.

Every technician that has come out to my house so far has been professional. Recently, my upstairs HVAC was not heating and because it's cold out, it was just throwing around whatever the room temperature air was. By the time the repair man came out though, it seemed like the issue corrected itself. He didn't fix anything. He cleaned out a filter in the HVAC unit and he just double checked to make sure everything looked good with the system. He didn't see anything wrong, and the heat just started working.
Overall, I've had a good experience American Home Shield. The company is responsive and assigns a contractor fairly quickly. However, it would be nice to have a pass for emergency cases, like heating or a water heater that went out. Something that is usually an emergency case where the consumer would want to get someone out quicker. The last case I had, I had to call in, and I still had to wait almost two days to get someone out here. If there was a way to escalate to get someone out here sooner, even if it's for an additional fee, that would've been nice.

I had an icemaker put in through American Home Shield. I feel good about the installation because the techs came in and did what they needed to do, and they were gone. Everything was good. Overall, I like what AHS does. When you give them a call, it won’t be long for them to call you back with the information of the people that would come out to your home. They asked different questions like if I had been in touch with anybody with the virus. Everything that they do right now is good.

The dryer wouldn't heat. We called American Home Shield, and they originally referred Sears. But, apparently, Sears never got the work order. American Home Shield said they were coming on Thursday, and I called them on Wednesday just to confirm everything. They had never gotten the work order. So, I called American Home Shield back. They pulled that work order and then assigned Speedy Air. Speedy Air came out and fixed it within 15 minutes. The tech was very professional. He went out and got the part that was needed and installed it. Everything's working fine. Overall, the AHS contractors are very professional and very good at what they do. The claim process with AHS is fairly easy. It is a quick 100 bucks, which I think is a little expensive but they respond fairly quickly.

American Home Shield is one of the better investments I've made. I was kinda leery about it. I did the pros and cons thing to figure out if it was worth it and it is. I've had to replace my home furnace system and American Home Shield assisted me with that. Also, the contractor, A-Advanced Home Services, gave me my options, told me what was going on, and laid it out nice and concise. I really appreciated it. I've had nothing but a great experience.

The ice maker on the refrigerator was freezing up. The contractor that was sent was quick and in and out. They had to order parts and it was fixed. We've been happy with American Home Shield so far.

We had a refrigerator and the ice maker wasn't working. The tech checked it out, ordered the part, and called us when it came in. He replaced that part and now everything's working fine. We also had an issue with our microwave which ended up being a fuse. He checked to see what could have possibly blown the fuse but he couldn't find anything so he replaced it. I'm happy with my experience. AHS is a great product and I recommend them.

We have a home warranty on two homes, on a vacation home andon our primary residence. The vacation home is very easy. It's been a piece of cake. On our primary residence, we have higher-end appliances that people are not used to working on to. So it created a little bit of a hiccup at the outset that we ended up having to have three repair contractors come out to finally get it fixed. That was a little frustrating. But after we got through a rough patch, everything had been going quite well.
The first tech came out and just basically threw his hands up and said that he couldn't fix it. Then the second one came out and he ordered what he and Miele maybe thought was the issue, and it was a fan module. The tech couldn't figure out how to get the entire module out. So all he did was just take the little, tiny motor off and replaced that. But that didn't fix it. So the third guy came out and he also dealt with Miele, and Miele recommended some sort of module again. He replaced that and he replaced what the other guy couldn't replace. This claim was a time-consuming and a little bit of a frustrating issue. But it turned out well. Once the AHS rep, Stephanie, got involved, everything went swimmingly. She was absolutely excellent. She kept on top of it. I'm glad that at least we had another refrigerator that if we'd needed to, we could put perishables in so we didn't freeze them to death.

My oven wasn't working so I put in a claim and Antech Appliances came out. All we had to do was remove an oven liner at the bottom. The technician just took it out, ran it, turned on the oven and everything was working fine. Then he did a few tests to make sure that was it and that was it. He also told us, if we did want to have the liner, what we should have. It was really easy and convenient to use American Home Shield. I just went online, put in a few things, and then I had a call. Everything is all in one place, which I appreciate.

I booked everything online and the process works for me. It works for my husband too. When our AC wasn't cooling, the repair company fixed it. There was something additional wrong, so they had to come back and fix it before the ticket was closed. They did a good job.

The techs who were here were very courteous. They called when they were gonna be late and asked if they could send somebody else. I couldn’t have asked for a better service. That was the smoothest claim I've had with American Home Shield. I’ve only had two, but that was the better of the two. I spoke to a representative for Home Shield and they put me in touch with Pro Service. Then I was able to contact Pro Service themselves and talked to them directly as to making an appointment.

The bathroom fans shorted which in turn took out my light switch in the bedroom and also whatever was connected into that lights within my garage. They are all daisy-chained together. My wife called in a claim to American Home Shield. When the tech got there, I told him what happened. The service was decent and everything’s fine. Now I have light and basic needs were met. I recommend American Home Shield.

We're moving here from Vermont and a friend of ours told us about the Home Shield policy and how they have all these coverages. They moved into a house and the very next week, their AC went out. Our friend said Home Shield has this thing down here for preventive maintenance and everything else. We never heard of that before so we just got Home Shield.
The first thing that went out was our refrigerator. It produced water but no ice. Come to find out, there was no ice maker. We bought a new refrigerator. The dishwasher went out. Before we moved in, the people who owned the house probably switched out the unit with somebody else because they had a brand new cooking stove and range. There were some other minor things that went down that technicians came and fixed. And then the pipe burst. Also, our slider won't open because it's just the mechanism in it. It's not working and I'm trying to do it myself but. Now, I have an electrical problem by my pool. Some people do things by themselves without having a professional do it and that's what happened. Having Home Shield has helped us with some of these added costs because I wouldn't be able to afford all this stuff at once. The policy has helped pay for itself.
We also had a claim where my wife set preventive maintenance on both our AC units. A technician came and checked one unit and wouldn't touch the other deal. My wife's said that was stupid because the claim said "AC units". But the technician said only the upstairs unit was specified. The best part was the units are sitting right next to each other. The tech wouldn't go two feet to the left and check out the other one. He was just being lazy. My wife said he was rude as well. I was not impressed and would never use that company again.
I had a checkup done on those AC units. The guy who did that gave us a free checkup to see if we could do a maintenance deal with them. He asked me flat out if we had Home Shield. When I said yes, he said, "You're gonna want them to come out and service these first before I can touch them." Compared to the company Home Shield sent out, I would use this company called Semper Fi HVAC if I could because they did a phenomenal job. They were very informative. On the whole, I'm satisfied with Home Shield. But some of the communication back to the vendors need to be a little more detailed on Home Shield's part.

Recently I had a leak in my ceiling, and when People's Plumbing looked at it, it was a pinhole in one of the pipes. They had to cut a hole and replace the pipe. Whatever mess they made, they cleaned up, so I was pleased with that. I found them to be very professional, and they explained everything to me exactly what the issue was, and how they were repairing it. This was the second time I had a pinhole repaired and I was quite satisfied with them. It's just sometimes, I don't like that the issue can't be addressed right away. I have to wait for the contractor, and sometimes, I have to call back. One time I even had to get a different contractor. It's a little frustrating sometimes. If it's an emergency, I would have to call electricians or plumbers right away. But fortunately, I haven't had that issue.

The washer was making a really loud noise. The technician took the old part out and put the new part in. It took a couple of weeks for the part to come in. But that's understandable with what's going on. It was my first time using American Home Shield and it went very well.

American Home Shield is affordable, and their process in trying to get repairs is easy and efficient. It was my first time submitting a claim. It was a Sunday. I knew businesses open on Monday. So, when I submitted my request, I was glad that I was able to submit it on Sunday. And then Monday, things went into action. The timing was good because I didn't have any hot water. The contractor was able to come out right away, assess the situation, and then make the install very quick as far as opening up their schedule.

I've done claims a lot for a few things, including the refrigerator and washing machine. When we had a leak, someone came out and observed the problem, but it entails a lot of different things. I have the home insurance picking up the way for everything else and I'm gonna call him back to give me an estimate on the plumbing. Other than that, the guy was great. He came in two days from when I called. With other contractors, they take a long time to come out sometimes. I've had to wait a few weeks for the contractors and I wish it was a little sooner to take care of the problem. Still, everything was wonderful and professional.

When I filed a claim, it was answered too quickly. Within a few hours, the vendor called me and set up an appointment within a couple of days. The tech was very pleasant. Half of the plugins were not working and he changed out the first plugin on the circuit and cut tips of the wires off. It was fixed. It was an extremely positive 5-star experience.

A guy named Rudy from Swift Plumbing Incorporated came out for a gas leak and he took care of the problem. He did a thorough check. He went underneath the crawlspace and checked the piping that leads up all the way across and out to where the meter is. He checked if there were any leaks and he couldn't find any. Then he went and checked the flex tubing. I had somebody else come out before that. He checked and everything looked fine underneath. But Rudy found it was on the stove and he showed me where it was at. He replaced the valve and that was it.
American Home Shield first had a contract with Plumbers Inc. and they didn't do the job. I had a problem with my water heater and the tech came out and checked it. He didn't check anything else. The gas kept on shutting off and it could have probably had something to do with the leak with the stove. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody else. Their commercials on TV are very misleading. They say one thing then do another. I've had problems where they came out here. There was a leak and it did damage. They didn't cover the damage which I understand. But they replaced the bibs on the washer in the utility room where the washer is and they did damage. I called American Home Shield and they were saying that they'd get a guy out here. Plumbers Inc. came out and the tech took care of the problem. He said that it doesn't cover that so I put a claim in there and they still haven't responded about that problem.

I had an air conditioning tune-up and the tech found stuff that were wrong. He replaced the capacitor on one but he's got to order parts to fix the other one. He was very clean, laid down a blanket before he put his ladder down and wore these slippers. He was very respectful. So far, AHS has been good. A contractor also came out on a washing machine and AHS had to replace it because they couldn't find any parts.

I’ve had good experiences with American Home Shield. My air conditioning wasn’t working and when I called them, I was told once I submitted the request that the contractor would reach out to me within 24 to 48 hours. And if I didn't hear from them, to reach out to them to schedule a time. The contractor was great but we had to work around the weather and it took two weeks. They couldn’t work on the air conditioning until the weather situated itself. Still, they were very responsive and informative. They did what they came and needed to do.

We didn't have heat one day and it was getting kind of cold. I have diabetes and I just got kind of cold that day and it was kind of cool outside. I guess the igniter quit on us. It wasn't kicking on. Our heating has been working all winter long and we shut it down because we had a couple of warm days. When we turned it back on, it wouldn't kick on. The tech who came was very polite, went straight and did the job, and was done in no time. He did everything he was supposed to. American Home Shield's service was excellent.

AHS is a good service. The contractors, for the most part, had been professional. It works pretty well. There had been times though where I've had problems getting in touch with the contractor. I had to call American Home Shield to get another contractor to come and do the work. But with my recent claim, it was satisfactory. The guy was on time and prompt.

Our AC wouldn't come on. We would turn the unit to AC and nothing. It wouldn't even click over. We submitted the claim and American Home Shield sent it to a local AC repair shop. The gentleman came, and it was our thermostat that was bad. He had the part in his truck and he got it taken care of very nicely. I've had American Home Shield for several years and I've had different things off and on. There was one experience where I kept getting dropped on and they were having issues with their phone service one day. But other than that, my experiences have been really good.

My washing machine wasn't spinning. In a week or so, a guy with Sears came out and he fixed it. The washing machine is louder now than it once was but it's working. We've been with American Home Shield for 15 years and we haven't made that many claims over that time period. Some have been good while some have been not so good.

We had a garbage disposal that there seemed to be a light switch for but it was not functioning. Then there were some lights that were hanging over the kitchen area that if you plugged something in to an entirely different outlet in another part of the house, those lights would go off. We had a contractor come try to figure out what was going wrong with those two electrical issues. I did it through the AHS website and it was helpful enough for me to figure out exactly what I needed to do. It wasn't complicated. I've seen a lot worse. I was told I would get a call within a day or two to schedule the time which did happen. The contractor called the next day and set up an appointment for a time that worked for me. When the technician came out, he was super helpful. He not only fixed it really quickly but was also able to explain what had gone wrong and how he was able to fix it.

I had a garbage disposal issue and when I submitted a claim with AHS, I did it on the website and it was really easy. Then, the tech who came out was very friendly and very professional. It was a little smelly outside but it wasn't a big deal. He tracked in some water and wiped it up. Everything was in great condition and I got a better disposal than I had to begin with. I was very impressed. All in all, having AHS is cheaper than paying to have the work done piece by piece. With AHS, I'm just paying the one thing a year and the service fees. So, I'm real happy and I'll keep the warranty for a couple years here.

The tech of Heros came out for my claim. I had a leak but we didn't know where the leak was coming from. It was in a carport in the storage. So we went to the apartment above it and we looked under the sink. The tech said he could hear water so he cut into the wall under the sink upstairs. He said he could almost get to it but he couldn't quite get to it. I had to get access for them to get in there to repair it. I ended up getting somebody else go out there and I showed them the leak. They said the leak was coming from the storage closet. They cut into the ceiling in the storage closet and that was where the pipe was at. They exposed it all. I called Heros. The techs came back out and they repaired that. I'm happy and satisfied.

When I first came to American Home Shield, when I first bought my house, they left me without water for 10 days. I was so upset. I said, “I just wasted my money. This is insane.” Also, some of their claims representatives are awesome but some of them don't have a clue. It’s because their English is not great. With the pool stuff, there was an electrical problem, and the rep was telling me that the electrician could handle it. I said, “No, I have an electrical problem in the house and a problem with the pool, and it's two different things.” She argued with me and said, “I will take care of it.” But then it took several times and tries before that got straightened out. But the techs of AHS have been awesome. If they had to come back, it was because they didn't have the part with them. They came, they looked at the problem, they ordered whatever and they came right back and put it in. I've been very pleased.
The pool is much better. But they missed the hairline cracks of the housing for the filter and it was shooting water everywhere. I called right back and said, “I got water everywhere, worse than before.” They came back out and said, “You need a new housing. For a pool this size, you should go up to a larger filter. But American Home Shield replaces like-for-like. So if you want to go up, you pay the difference.” I did go up and it has been wonderful. It has made the biggest difference. They were very knowledgeable and quick to answer and show up. I've been recommending AHS. It's the best deal I've ever found. They are awesome.

I had to reopen the ticket, but I reopened it Saturday because it was backed up again. He again came and ran that snake through. He told me when the issue happens again, I should request or have them run a camera down in there to see exactly what the issue is.
AZ Plumbing came recently and they seemed more professional than the previous plumbing company AHS sent before. He did not know what he was doing. He did not want to do anything. He didn't even want to run a snake down. That was a while back. Also, some things are too expensive while some things are worth the price. This year, I had an InSinkErator, my garbage disposal that wasn’t working, and all the repairman did was go underneath and tighten some screw, and then it’s working fine. But I paid the $100. A $100 is a brand new garbage disposal.

I had flickering lights and the electrician that came did a good job. He wasn't able to fix some of the things that we discussed because of preexisting conditions. He went through it and tightened all the breakers. He told me that's definitely been the lesson.

I have been dealing with this claim since September of ‘20. Initially, the claim was for an ice maker that stopped working. J Coppock International here in Columbia was contracted for the initial service call. They came out on three different occasions to diagnose the problem and order some parts that they suspected was the issue but the problem never got resolved.
Sears came out on the fourth try about four months in. They diagnosed the problem for something else but it turned out not to be that. They sent another representative who diagnosed the problem right away. From my understanding, that refrigerator unit probably had a flaw in the design. But at the bottom base where the door opens and closes, there were wires that had frayed. The next thing was to order a freezer door and I had to call back and follow up on it. It took so long to get the freezer door. That may have been about five weeks of not hearing anything and following up on it. When the freezer door was delivered, the technician came out and installed it and the icemaker started to work. This was within the last two weeks.
I kept looking at the door and realized that one color wasn't the original. He ordered it from what the serial number was from the inside of the refrigerator. They sent a steel door and my original door was sunset brown. So, I got two different color doors. The representative that I talked to last week told me that they're not concerned about the color of the door, just the functionality of it. Whatever part that was to make it function, so be it. I'm totally disappointed at this time because this is what I have left. I don't think that I should have had to wait almost a year for this thing to kind of have some type of resolution only to still not be satisfied.
What I did find out is that Whirlpool discontinued that color. I've been trying to search different parts places that carry it and there may be a slim possibility that I can get that exact match. I still have the original door. They wouldn't haul it away for me. I was going to see if I can get someone in refrigeration repair to see if there is a possibility that they can rewire it so that it could work.

The service provided by the tech was good. First, he checked my thermostat. Then, he went and checked the furnace. He told me that I need to change my air filter and to update my system because it's an old system. Then, he went outside and checked the box outside. When he unscrewed it, a battery fuse was blown. He also told me that my insurance covers $10 of Freon and I paid. Then, he filled it up and replaced the battery. My AC works now. I haven't had any issues with the companies that have come out and checked. Everything's convenient within my time. They come out, check it, let me know what's wrong right then and there, if they are able to fix it, or if I have to call the actual company that I purchased it from to fix it.

My stove went out and it couldn't be repaired. They said that the manufacturer is not making any right now and I asked the rep if she would call me whenever the factory made some. She said she can't and that I will take whatever they give me. They wanted to give me something that doesn't fit in my cabinet and wanted me to pay $400 to have somebody cut my cabinet out to put that stove. Also, they wanted to give me a white one and we got stainless stuff in our house. That's not right. I've been with Home Shield a long time and this is the first time I've been treated like this. My experience has been fine until this.

We had the yearly AC tune-up done. There was special. It was 75 bucks to have someone come out and do a tune-up. The technician did a quick job. I also had one other claim for a pipe leak and I was very satisfied.

The guy who came out for the garbage disposal was very professional, very respectful and very knowledgeable, too. The disposal has been working very well since he came. Doing claims to American Home Shield is usually not a problem. I could do it online, I could do it over the phone, or I could talk to one of their associates. One problem is if you have an appliance and then it's very old, they keep putting a new part, so you never get it changed. But I guess that's the way home repair works.
Also, my monthly payment was raised and I didn't get a notice that it was gonna go up. But they told me it probably came to my email. Sometimes, you don't get to read every email. They tried to work with me for that, so it's okay. I had a good experience. When I called because I wanted to stop the service, I was offered a free service and then I was offered two months free. I was treated well. I was treated very professionally and with respect.

I have two houses under American Home Shield and I've had good experience. A claim was recently put in for a garage door opener break. It would go down and come back up right away. I had a response very quickly when I did the claim and the tech, Brent, was very good. He got it fixed that day. I also had people come out work on a refrigerator. There were two different issues at two different times and that went well. It just seems to be the air conditioner vendor that they had that wasn't any good. The first people that came out didn't look for the root cause. They just threw refrigerant in it and that wasn't the issue. So they had to come out a second time and said they repaired it and put more coolant in it. That still had an issue so I called back American Home Shield and said, “You have to send a different company to come try to fix this air conditioner.” They gave me another one and from that point, the air conditioner has been working fine.

The last time we used AHS, our dryer was out and I made the appointment at 10 o'clock at night. Then, the tech was there at 8 o'clock the next morning. Fixing the dryer took longer than one day because he didn't have the part and it had to be shipped. But the very next morning, he was back here once we got the part in to fix it. But when we had a claim for the stove in our rental property, they gave me an 11:00 to 3:00 timeframe and the tech said he would get to us at around 5:00. The next one was scheduled two weeks out. I cancelled that, called in, and was able to schedule another appointment.
Scheduling was done online, which I thought was very convenient. With the dryer, instead of having to go through the wait time to speak to someone, once the part came in, I was able to schedule an appointment right away and with the stove, rather than that whole two weeks that the tech initially said, it was two days out once I updated the appointment.

There is more than one way to submit a request with American Home Shield. You can submit it online and it can go pretty quickly. For a claim I had, the technicians who came did a good job. They diagnosed the problem quickly and worked to get it fixed. One thing that I really liked was that they communicated with me what the next steps were, how long it was gonna take, and what they were doing.
Having American Home Shield is a good idea to get things fixed in your house. It's also a good idea if you purchased a home that is new to you so that you don't run into any issues that you're not aware of. My only thing with American Home Shield is I have had some issues with vendors recently at my primary home not communicating. American Home Shield needs to make sure and follow up with them. You also have to follow up with American Home Shield if you're having problems with a vendor. You are the one paying for the service.
American Home Shield used to have an option where you could put a vendor on a list if you didn't want that vendor to come back out to your home. I would like for them to have that back because there are some people that just don't do a good job. It is frustrating to pay your fee then a company that you’ve had issues with comes out and they don't fix things or make things worse.

The technician who came was able to provide answers to all of my questions and he kept me informed on what was happening, what he was doing and what needed to be done. It was a great experience because I did ask him difficult questions because I didn't know. The claim process with American Home Shield was very easy this time more so than ever before. Before, I was having to call the service provider, but this time, they call me. I missed the phone call, and a rep sent me a text message.
I know a lot of my friends that currently have houses that do not have home warranties. They suffer the consequences because they have to come out of pocket with all those expenses. I would definitely tell them to invest in a home warranty, and I would definitely recommend American Home Shield because, so far, for the three years that I've had them, they have been awesome.

A pipe inside my bathroom wall broke and started leaking. American Home Shield sent a couple plumbers to repair it and they did. The pipe was inside my wall, inside the two sheet rocks. They had to cut a hole on the wall to get in there and remove that piece of pipe and put a new one in. But they're just plumbers and they don't repair the walls. There is another company that is supposed to come out and look at the wall and see if they can repair it. But it has been over a week and I don't have any confidence in them. They sent me an email saying that they were aware of the issue and they would get somebody out here. They do not want you calling and checking on them. The phone calls just delay them even more. They scheduled ad appointment but no one ever called and no one ever came. So, I'm going to cancel it to American Home Shield, and I'm going to call someone else to repair it.
I've had American Home Shield for years. They are very expensive and a lot of the people they send are not qualified. If I'd call somebody about a problem in your home, I'd expect them to come real soon and to repair it. But some of the people just keep putting me off and they charge you $75 every time I call. If they cover the issue, they will pay for everything. But if they don't cover it, then you get someone that you might not know.
The clerks that you work with are really nice. They will try to do their best to make sure everything is the way you want it to be. Their employees have limitations that they can do. Everything being covered ain't a thing. They don't always know about that and it's hard to figure all that out. I thought if they'd fix that line, that water leak, that meant everything was fixed but that was not true.

My air conditioner has been heating and cooling fine. It was just making a clunk noise when it was shut off and that didn't sound right. Two technicians showed up and I explained to them what was going on. They checked everything out and everything looked good on their meter. I was told that the issue was because of the type of compressor unit that was installed on the AC unit. Depending on where the impellers are when it shuts off, it would either make or won't make that noise. American Home Shield has been pretty responsive in getting things done. Everything has been good so far with them.

Island Breeze did a really good job. They came in for the $75 annual checkup with the air conditioner. They did discover during that checkup that there was an issue with the zone board for the unit. They told me the procedure that I need to do. I had to add a repair to my request and they ordered the part and gave me a date they were coming back. They came back and fixed it, and it seems to be working fine since then. They seem to be very professional. I didn't have any issues with cleanliness. They left everything in order.
The first time I reached out to American Home Shield was about my heating system because the heat wouldn’t come on back in the winter. Nobody was able to come out for like four days. That was my very first experience with them, which was something I hadn't anticipated. Before I signed up for the program, I was told if my heat went out, I’d have somebody here the next day. So, that was a little bit of a learning curve. In the middle of winter, four days without heat would have been tough. But luckily, that night, I had gone through a reset process with the heater, and it came back on the next morning. So, I called and canceled that.
Also, my water heater died and started leaking. When I called for service, they weren't going to be able to come out. I called them on a Thursday and they weren't going to be able to come out until the following Monday. My main issue has to do with the time. That was going to be four days without your hot water heater, which is kind of an essential thing, just like heat. The first company said they were not gonna be able to come out until Monday. I called AHS back and I said, “No, that's too long. Do you have someone that can come out sooner?” They got another company that could come out that Saturday. They did come out. Unfortunately, I was not here when they came because I had my COVID vaccine scheduled for the same exact time. Since it was an emergency, I didn't want to turn down that appointment. But I couldn't not go for my COVID vaccine neither. So, I had someone else meet them here at the house.
It might have gone a little smoother if I had been here to ask them some questions on the spot, but I wasn't. The second company determined that the water heater was not repairable. That meant it's going to be the first of the week before anything could be done at the earliest. In the meantime, I got an email from AHS saying that I needed to call them. I was told that I would need to pay $950 directly to the company for the repair, and then they would fix it. That was a little off-putting because I was thinking, “Oh, I've got a warranty. I'm covered. If the water heater’s dead, the warranty’s gonna replace it.” But that didn't quite pan out that way.
When I understood that I needed to pay them $950, I started being a little more concerned about who was going to repair it. One of the things that they were going to charge me for was putting in a brand-new shutoff valve for the hot water heater. The guy that was here to look at it said that there was not one on there. He told the person that met him here that we would have to turn the water on and off at the main shut-off until we could get it repaired. Whenever we needed water, we'd have to turn it off and on at the main shutoff and shut down everything. I thought, “Okay, that's not gonna work.” So, I went back up to the attic, which is where the hot water heater is, and I was able to locate the shut-off for the hot water heater and get it turned off myself. Luckily, that part worked out. We would have to turn the main shutoff off for the number of days it took to figure out what we're going to do with it.
It concerned me that they were going to charge me to install a new valve when there was a valve already there and they couldn't locate it. To further get my concern up, while I was waiting to hear back from American Home Shield, I went ahead and got an estimate for a private, local dealer to do it. That guy was very informative and helpful. He told me that, by code, that shutoff has to be within three feet of where the cold water line enters the hot water heater. So, then, I was thinking, “Okay, these guys are professionals. Did they know that?” If they did know it, all they had to do was look within three feet of that cold water shutoff line and follow it down three feet. On some hot water heaters, it’s right at the top. I did find it. I lost confidence, at that point, with the particular company doing it.
They also wanted to replace the drain pan for the hot water heater, which seemed fine. Thank God it was working because the hot water heater was in my attic, and the water was going out the drain pipe that was set up to take that water once it started leaking. I informed AHS that I didn't feel comfortable with that company during the repair and they informed me if I wanted to have someone else come out and look at it, I had to pay another service fee. In the meantime, I continued to get estimates while I was back and forth. It was like at least a 24-hour turnaround every time there was any kind of inquiry.
The customer service people were really nice but they never could resolve anything. All they did was submit it to whoever they submitted it to once you call their main number. I ended up having it done myself. I paid a little bit more. I'm still wondering when I'm going to get my reimbursement because they weren't really clear about that. When I looked through the manual, there's like one line describing a hot water heater. It didn't say anything about the fact that it would not address accessory parts. They insisted they had to replace the expansion tank. I felt like if that was required to replace the hot water heater, that should have been covered under the warranty.
Overall, I would recommend it. It’s good to have that peace of mind. Hopefully, if anything else goes wrong, it’s not going to be $1,000 out-of-pocket. The service, response and the initial contact with the repair person were prompt. All of the repair people have been pretty responsive when I called them directly. But I would definitely warn others about the time and that a repair might not be done in a timely manner.

The heater wasn’t coming on. I did a claim for it online to American Home Shield. It was pretty quick. They sent me somebody to call, I called them, and they were excellent. It worked out really good. They were very professional, wore masks and explained to me what was going on. They had to order a part. It came in within a couple of days, and they were able to do something to get it to work, and it worked until we got the part. I would recommend AHS to anyone.

We went online for our claim and it went well. The furnace kept blowing fuses, and they had to install a new thermostat then the fuses have been working fine ever since then. The tech was very professional and knowledgeable of the trade too. AHS, keep up the good work 'cause we're very satisfied.

My dishwasher was not cleaning. It took a long time for a tech to come out. But when he did, he was wonderful and I loved him. He was very professional and he fixed the dishwasher in three minutes. His work was 100% quality-wise.

A guy came out for a ceiling fan and I told him it was the light. He fixed the light but not the ceiling fan. He said he checked back with AHS and it wasn't covered. He told me that he didn't know what the brand was so it wasn't covered. But when I called the other day, a rep told me that it is covered. With some things, you have to really pay attention to what's covered before calling American Home Shield.
I also filed a claim when there was water accumulating on the floor in the bathroom. It had happened before and I assumed that it was the same thing over again. I called AHS and they contacted Service Contractors Plumbing. But I figured the water was coming from my refrigerator before they got here. I got a new refrigerator and they didn't connect the hose right so the water was going through the floorboard in the bathroom. I called and canceled the appointment. But Service Contractors Plumbing had done a good job. Their plumber was quick and really helpful.

The tech was on time and professional. He got right to work. He identified the problem immediately. A cable had come out of a pulley. I watched him do it. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. The whole thing took about 30 minutes. Before he was done, he lubricated all of the moving parts and the hinges on the door. I was very satisfied. It was a good experience. When our year is up with AHS, we're gonna go ahead and do a continuing thing. I'm very happy with how it works.

I've had American Home Shield for three years now and I've had some issues with them in the past. I had a claim for an air conditioner and it took them five days to get somebody out in the heat of summer, so that was a little bit of a headache. But this time was a lot faster than I experienced in the past. The spring on the garage door was broken and it would not open. The technician was able to do the repair the next day.

I had a broken handle in both my showers and the repairman provided great service. He showed up on time and he replaced the handle. Everything was quick and easy. I wasn't happy I had to pay out of pocket for the part though. I've also had someone before and it wasn't a good experience. I had a pipe that broke on my furnace and the company American Home Shield sent out never fixed the issue at all. They never came back out to finish too.

With American Home Shield, I have the security of knowing that all the expenses won't necessarily be on me, that I may have a little help with some repairs taken care of. One time, I smelled gas in my home. I had CenterPoint Energy take a look and the guy smelled the gas as well but was not able to detect where the gas leak was. He recommended that I have a plumber come out. I reached out to American Home Shield and I was appreciative of the promptness of getting someone out. Drain Go went through their whole process of trying to locate the gas leak and they were not able to locate it. They recommended that the meter we use returned and the gas be turned back on. They still didn't find where the gas leak was coming from and there were no repairs that were required, but I have not smelled any more gas.

I've always been impressed with AHS but I had an issue with submitting a claim online for my stove. It was like it never went through. The company that was coming out to do the job didn't get the confirmation to do it for some reason so it was delayed. When I had a problem with my heat and air system, I just called Home Shield personally and it was a lot better. Also, the tech knew exactly what he was looking for and gave good recommendations.

At first, the contractor for my AC that stopped cooling was somebody based out of a different area. I called American Home Shield and requested someone locally who could get to me sooner than five days later. That was really easy. With the repair, I was able to stay at home and not worry about the AC not working. Use AHS.

I got a notice from American Home Shield that I should get a checkup on my air conditioner. So I had the service guy come out and look at it. He said that the fan motor and the outside unit were cratering and that I should get that motor replaced. So I called again and set up another appointment, and had the man come. The same man, nice man, came and replaced the motor and it was really quick. He got out there, took it all apart, put the motor in, put it all back together, and it was good. I told him that I was glad that I had this check-up done because it wouldn't have been fun waiting four days for somebody to come and get my air conditioner going when it's 102 degrees in the summer.

I got a replacement of my water heater through American Home Shield. The technician came on site and determined that it was the pilot that was broken. They don't have the right part for it, so they had to replace the whole unit. The technician was professional and friendly.

We had four different people come and look at our fridge and we were without a fridge for over a month. It seemed to be a real competition between American Home Shield and Whirlpool and no one was taking responsibility to pay for it, which was really frustrating. I had several long calls, sometimes up to an hour, with people from American Home Shield. Most of them are doing the best they could and they were helpful but they weren't really good at coming up with a solution. They were just kind of parroting company lines. Then, they sent Fuller's Appliance and the guy who came fixed the fridge in no time. It finally got done and I felt like someone kind of pushed through for us there.

My stove range was messed up. When you turn the knob, it was clicking and it took some time in order for one of the burners to turn on. AHS told me that they would contact me within the next two to three business days. Then, the tech came out and I was very happy with him. He said that usually, that clicking should not happen and that we needed a new knob. Then, he checked everything and went over the whole process of how the range itself didn’t turn on at all. He also needed to change one of the burners and now, everything is perfect.

Everything has been great with American Home Shield. They're very responsive. The only issue I have is the vendors come from a further distance and can only come certain days of the week. But it's companies that sign up to these Home Shield warranty plans. Maybe in my neighborhood, they don't sign up for it. I wish AHS would use some places a little bit more local. Other than that, it's been perfect and AHS has been excellent. It is worth getting.

When we submit claims, American Home Shield would notify that they contacted somebody. Within about 48 hours, we get a call from whoever is going to do the service. And the people have always been good. They have always fixed the problem, and everything has gone well. We had a hard time getting the part for my dishwasher. It was about three months to get the part in. The part just wasn't available. But with everything going on, AHS was having a hard time and I'm sure it came from China or someplace. It was beyond their control. But when the appliance place called me and said it was in, they were out here the next day installing the part. Other than the part taking so long, everything went good. AHS sent a contractor out for something else last week. So, I've had them out twice in a month - one for the dishwasher, and one for putting some new steels in my pool pump. Everything went great both times.

I had two water heaters that were both old. One of them was leaking terribly and the other was making all kinds of noises. The contractor assessed that they did need replacing. The one making noises is 26 years old so it was probably due to be switched out. After they checked it, they told me what was needed. They had the products on hand and they would go ahead and do it that morning, and they did. They were gone before noon. They put tarps down over my tile and carpet and did not leave a mess. I appreciated that. Everything was positive about the experience.
In the past, it was difficult to do a claim with American Home Shield. I live in a small town and I may have specific people that I would prefer. I would make a call and it would take forever. When I finally got someone here, they had to call American Home Shield and get permission to do anything. I wasn't aware of them doing that. It could have happened and maybe they have a more direct line now. Making the calls was always a long process and delayed everything but that seems to be much improved.

I had a bad leak under the sink and the plumber came out within three days to repair it as it was a very busy time for plumbers. It did fine. We have since replaced the sink. But we had to have a different plumber come out to put it up because replacing the sink wasn’t covered under American Home Shield. This warranty seems like a good deal in the beginning, but the prices went up the second year.

The contractor came in and told us that we had to upgrade the hot water heater because our stuff wasn’t up to code. They exchanged it for another one because it was still under warranty. So, they did a great job. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was wonderful. It was over the phone and the person who did it was great. I talked to a few people saying they don't have a home warranty and I told them that they can always get a home warranty because it’s guaranteed that the company will come and fix it. All they gotta do is pay whatever they charge but a lot of people just don't wanna do it.

We were dealing with a plumbing issue where the water would come on then it would stop. Something was blocking the water. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. I selected plumbing and tried to describe in the comment section that water was stopping. Somebody called me and they were gonna send Greenway. But I told them that Greenway is no longer allowed on my property and that I don't want anything from them. I've had so many bad experiences doing different services and the last one took the cake. I asked American Home Shield to make the note again.
American Home Shield sent Tech company. Their guy called and I explained to him what was happening. He said they would be out to take a look at the issue and fix it. But they had another job so they didn't come that day. They came the next morning at seven o'clock. That was the best service I've ever had from American Home Shield. They were young guys but I was pleasantly surprised. I was really appreciative that they took care of the issue and they explained the entire time what they were doing. Apparently, my pressure gauge thing was no longer working. They had to replace that pressure gauge thing that made my water flow. I've referred American Home Shield to some of the new homeowners and one of them signed up with the company. I told them, “Tell them to not send Greenway out.”

I put in a claim for 3 different things - a stove, a microwave and a refrigerator. All was included in one bill. But the first contractor was ridiculous. They wanted two weeks so I called American Home Shield back and they found somebody else that would come out within three days. The refrigerator problem has been resolved and the stove is in backorder. It has not come in yet. The only thing on the first claim is they wanted me to replace the air conditioning unit but I refused to do that. I ended up paying $100 for nothing because they did not want to do anything to repair the air conditioner, they just wanted to replace it and I could not pay out of the pocket for a central unit.

I was asked to provide pictures of my door because it was a rekeying. But they didn't quite make their way to the guy who actually did the work. But, it didn't matter because we had a phone conversation before he got there and everything worked out great. Good quality work, easy to set up and schedule too.

I love the service. When I call, I always have to go through the automated service but whenever I do speak with the reps, I'm very satisfied. They had to come out to do my unit forever last year and the year before last. They've never said, “Sorry, you're calling too much.” They ended up just changing it. Even if I've ever had something to say about a person that came out, they listened. They've been perfect. However, I haven't heard from them regarding my refrigerator. I called twice last week. The lady said, “They'll be calling you.” I called them again and she said, “They're going to replace a part. Someone should be calling you to tell you when it’s coming in.” It's almost been two weeks.

My dishwasher wasn't draining. The tech came once and thought he had fixed it. It didn't work again, and he came again. He was pretty sure he fixed it. So, we're waiting to see if it stays working this time or if he's gonna have to order a new pump. I've had multiple calls with American Home Shield. I had one experience where they charged me the $75. The guy got here and told me it wasn't a covered expense, and I had to pay him. I still had to pay the $75 to American Home Shield, and I wasn't very happy about that.

The contractor looked at my garage door and told me it was discontinued. They didn't do much, very short and brief. They told me they'd let me know if they're going to be able to get a new one out there for me. I've called in, got put on hold, and I haven't heard back on what they're going to do to resolve it.

The tech got the unit going and put the fan belt that was gone in it but that was burnt out so he wound up coming back. It wasn’t on his schedule for that Friday because he didn't have the part on the van on the same day that he came. So, we had to wait an extra day for him to go back to the office, get the part and then come back to our residence. He didn't leave anything lying around or anything behind that he had to use on the outside. It was clean environment around. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was a smooth process but in the future, if they take the work order, they should make sure that the technician has the equipment or whatever is needed at the time of service. They could make sure that it is notated in the work order so that will not cause another day delay.

Pamela's Plumbing came out and they worked on the commode. Water was leaking from underneath and they put wax over. But now, when I sit on it, I'm like in a rocking chair. They called and they said they're gonna come back and take care of it. We got a schedule set up for Monday. Pamela's Plumbing was great. I would tell others to get AHS but the monthly payments can come down a little because everybody else a little lower. It’s really aggravating. You’re paying 60 a month and you can pay somebody to come out here and do the job for cheaper. Also, I wish AHS would recommend their contractors to replace the parts with new ones. The contractors just fix the old part and that way, they have to come back over and over again. I had that problem with my air condition unit.

The process of submitting a claim with AHS seems to be okay. I just wish they could somehow get the automated system corrected where it doesn't cut me off after one thing. They're also trying to raise prices. They may be trying to raise them too fast because we're in the middle of a pandemic. I understand prices going up 3%, 5%, but they're trying to increase their prices at a much more rapid rate than even the highest inflation projection. But it's been a good experience with them overall. The techs that came out for our recent claim did a good job. They were really professional and very clean. They had to take care of some switches and everything's working fine.

I've been with American Home Shield for 30 years. I used to have them when I was in Virginia, and then I've had them the whole time I've been here. Of the 30 years, I've maybe had eight claims at the most. Usually, the techs they send over are good. They're honest, and they do a good job. I never left American Home Shield, but I also wanted to see if the other companies could do what they claimed. I tried somebody else for a while, and they were terrible.
Recently, my air conditioning and everything else stopped working. AHS answered right away and the repair company called me right away. They scheduled. They came when they said they were coming and they told me what the issues were. They gave me several different ways to resolve it and the prices of each one. I suggested to just replace the unit with a new one instead of patching it up or doing some of the other opportunities they had. It went really well.

We've been with American Home Shield for a long time and we've never had any problem when we submit a claim. They do what they say they're going to do and we've been proud of having an opportunity for them to warrant our house and for them to serve us. We had someone come out to assess the toilet, which wasn't getting enough flow of the war. When he came in, he had his mask on and he was very amenable. He broke everything down, he answered the questions that we needed to be answered, and then he showed us what we needed to get done. Then, he did his job and he left. I always tell other people they need a home warranty and I always share American Shield with everybody I know.

My icemaker was not making ice. I did a claim through American Home Shield's website. It’s simple to use. It said I should expect that within 24 to 48 hours, someone should be contacting me back. It did happen. My icemaker still ain’t working though. I called Apex when I found out the next day that it wasn't making ice. It took me forever to get somebody. I left a message. Nobody called back. I really don't need Apex to come back but I do want my icemaker fixed. I wouldn’t recommend Apex to others. It was poor service. Their communication was very poor. They had been out three times, and it's still not fixed.
So far, everything went pretty good with the services until now. But I would recommend American Shield to somebody else. Their rates are pretty reasonable for the service. They're a good company. They are legit. So far, every time I had to use them, they did what they said they’re gonna do. The contractor that they send out usually are pretty good, except for Apex.

The oven wasn't turning on, the microwave wasn't heating up and the dryer wasn't drying. The techs fixed the oven the first day and then they had to get parts and come back the next week for the dryer and the microwave. It took two weeks total. If it's an appliance like that, it's not a big deal. It's been an annoyance when it's the air conditioning or when it's an emergency plumbing. They should have emergency services available so that if your air conditioning is out in Las Vegas in the middle of summer, they can guarantee somebody comes out within 24 hours.

We had water in our basement bathroom and we contacted American Home Shield because we need a plumber to take a look at it to find out what was going on. K & S Heating was sent out and the plumber checked the line between the toilet and the shower. They did not find any sort of clog. The next step would be to check the section of the line that runs in the foundation of the home. The problem is that to access that and to perform that check, they have to remove the toilet. The policy doesn't cover access to that line and we were willing to pay that portion of the bill to remove the toilet and to provide access to the line.
But there's coverage for repair or replacement for areas that are located within the interior of the main foundation of the home. The portion of the line that needed to be checked was the portion that was encased in the basement slab. There’s a paragraph in the policy about what’s covered and what is not covered and it said "Leaks and breaks of drain and waste line, drain line routing with rotary machinery," which in my understanding is what they had to do through an accessible cleanout. What’s not covered, though, are drain line stops that are caused by roots. It was an issue what section of the line needed to be taken care of.
I had several calls with the customer service folks at AHS. I went through the policy language with them and they said it was covered. But when we called the plumber to schedule it, they told us that they were told it was not covered. I called AHS back the same day, got a different person, and was told that there was a mixup and that it’s not covered. I asked to speak with somebody else and they said they would escalate it and that I would get a call back within an hour or something.
That was on February 26th and by March 5th, I haven’t received any call from anybody. I contacted them again and I spoke with an employee. I, again, went through the policy with them - the coverage, the definitions, the covered component parts - and they said it's covered. I told them we would pay for the portion of the estimate that covers the access in the line. That employee authorized the repair and the plumber then contacted us to set up an appointment. They came out and performed the work but then they said it's not covered and that I need to pay them.
I called AHS and I explained what had occurred. We went through the contract again and I was told it wasn't covered. I just kept having the same conversation over and over again with people. I spoke with an employee and I was told that a supervisor would contact me within an hour but I didn't hear anything back. I called back a couple of hours later and I spoke with a different employee and I had to explain everything over again. It was almost as though there weren’t any notes in the system or anything. All I was asking for is to speak with somebody who had some decision-making authority and who could look at the policy and make a decision. We have had other claims that went fine but it bothers me that nobody was calling me back for this one.

We were having an issue with rust on the washer. American Home Shield was looking to see if they could replace a part so there was a delay. They were not able to do that so they replaced the washer altogether. The new one has been working great and is comparable to what we had. We submitted the claim in December and we got the new washer a week or two ago. We're patient so that timeframe was fine. We are not repair people so when things come up that we can't fix on our own, it's helpful that we can do a quick phone call to American Home Shield. The turnaround time is pretty good to get a technician out to take a look at whatever the issue is.

When the racks on our the dishwasher were not going back into it anymore, the repair people from Sears came out and repaired the dishwasher to the standard that it is supposed to be at. They were on time and they explained clearly. They also left and went, got the parts right away, had the work done, cleaned and adjusted the dishwasher to make sure it fit in there snug. They left it better than when they got there.
I initially went online to do the claim, but I wanted to talk to someone to see if the issue I was having was covered before we paid for the call. That wasn't an option, so I just had to pay to have someone come out to let me know if our dish racks were covered or not. Although it was covered, which was good, it was a little frustrating to not be able to talk to a rep to see if it’s something covered before I paid to have someone come out. If the repair people would have gotten here and told us they couldn't repair it, or it wasn't covered, I would have been really mad that I paid 125.
The other thing that we seem to have a bit of an issue with was the payment. When we placed the call, it had us put a credit card down. We used a debit card and then the day after the service, we got an email saying, “You still need to make your payment. It has to go through,” which initially, I thought, was possibly a fraudulent email. When I went to the website directly, it was still showing as unpaid. I put in the same card info again and the next day, I got another notice that it's still unpaid. When I went back into the website, it was showing as paid. That left it confusing as well that when I placed the service call, it was the same card that I used. I wasn't sure what the issue was with the debit card or why it wasn't picking up, but other than that, everything was fine.
All in all, having American Home Shield is beneficial. We could have just paid the 125 we were paying to Home Shield to have Sears come out on our own instead, but it was nice knowing that if something ended up being drastically worse, we had a little more protection. While we're still at a break-even point, it was nice knowing that we have a backup.

There was a bend in the exhaust from the dryer to the outside of the house and the tech said that was inhibiting it. He had ordered the parts but my machine is an older machine and the company called me back and said that the part is on backorder I've been without a washing machine for four weeks now and it’s a bit aggravating. But AHS sends out good techs and they respond quickly to my request. The service has been beneficial.

We were pleased with the company that came out to do some appliance work. He did a good job. He knew right away what was wrong with it and ordered the parts. My only complaint with American Home Shield is the amount of time that you sometimes have to wait for someone to come look at it, and then they always, once they look at it, have to order parts. Sometimes you have to wait quite a long time to get those parts. But in this particular case, it was our microwave. It wasn't an air conditioner or a refrigerator or something that we were going to be in bad shape not having. So, it was not a big deal to have to wait weeks to get the thing fixed.
American Home Shield did work on our washer too and they stood good to their word. We were pleased with that experience. The repairman came out right away, looked at it, told us what was wrong with it, came back out and fixed it to the best of his ability, and said, "I think this is a temporary fix. I think the washer is on its last legs." He came out several times and did a few other things to it. Eventually, they wound up replacing it. It was a pretty timely experience with that washer and the repairman that came out to fix that was excellent as well. We have a really bad experience with American Home Shield and that was over an air conditioner incident years ago. So, overall, we're satisfied.

I put in a claim to Home Shield that my furnace was having some kind of foul smell to it and Steinmetz HVAC came. When I told the tech what was going on with it, he said he knew what it was and he looked at it and put water in my P-trap. He explained to me that I needed to put water in that at least once a month or when changing my filter. He said if it persists, I need to call back and have a plumber go into the wall and see if something's busted or something. But the furnace has been performing good since he came out and I haven't had any smells. This is my very first experience with Home Shield and it was a very good experience. They're a great company and they stand by their word.

The microwave just stopped working. The guys that actually came were nice. But whoever was calling the shots was trying to go the cheapest way possible because they left, they came back, and supposedly, that was a fix, but it didn't work. They needed something else. It was a challenging situation. They took a long time to get through the process. In the end, they replaced the unit due to the extended period of time that we had to wait. AHS should have multiple contractors to work with. These guys are just overstretched. But everything is fine now. We're up and running.

It's really hard to get ahold of American Home Shield. You could be on the phone for hours waiting to speak to someone. So it's assumed that everything can be taken care of through the website. We had filed for an air conditioning unit claim online and then someone came out that said, “Okay, yeah, everything does not look good. I’ll submit the claim.” We paid the $75. Then we were told that whatever we had submitted the claim for was not covered under our policy. It was too complicated to get ahold of someone to try to resolve that situation.
Everyone who's came out has been professional. We've submitted a handful of claims and they've been really nice, helpful and knowledgeable. But processing a claim, unless it's done online, is not very convenient. Until this air conditioning claim, we also did not know that we could reinstate a claim. For example, we had called about our pool and submitted a claim. The man came out, didn't think anything was wrong, but we knew something was not right. A few days later, we realized that we could reinstate the claim, and the man came back out and realized there was something wrong. So we did not have to pay the $75 again.
In the past, we have submitted the same claim on multiple occasions in a short period of time for the same appliance. So we wish that we would have known about reinstating the claim before. Because if you have a refrigerator that continues to have problems, then you can continue to submit claims for $75. At some point, you just need to buy a new fridge. But overall, American Home Shield has worked out well with the older house and a pool.

My air wasn't cooling right and it wasn't running good. First, I called and did preventative maintenance. When the company came out, they discovered that the condensation coils in both units were leaking and needed to be replaced. I went on the website and filed a claim to have it repaired. I had to pay upfront and I had questions about what was gonna be covered, if it was two systems, one system, and what was the difference. I researched on condensation coils and normally, it was ranged from 400 to $1,000, and it usually included a 5 to 12-year warranty. I tried to call AHS and they never answered the phone. I've always had to leave a voicemail and have them call back.
I had the meeting scheduled for Tuesday. When I called back on Monday, ‘cause I wanted to get that information before they actually started the work, they said that if I would cancel the reservation, I needed to cancel it 24 hours in advance. When the company called Tuesday to let me know when they were coming, I asked what is the warranty on the condensation coil. They said that I need to talk to American Home Shield on that. I have to pay them for the installation.
The lady came back saying the warranty was one year on their stuff. I told her that's not gonna work. I'm supposed to have a five-year warranty on it. I don’t want, because of the quality of work, that my condensation coil fails in a year. I then said to cancel it. She said I have to pay it. I said I won't pay the cancellation fee because I tried to call them and they never answered. She then said that she'd talk to the service manager and get back to me. She then called and said they would cover the five-year warranty on their installation, which is what I needed. If anything happens with what this claim is in the next five years, I want it to be covered.
They could have answered my call and returned the call promptly if they couldn't answer. I would have liked to have spoken with someone before because, for instance, I paid $150 to get the free service, and we weren’t able to do that. I still don't know if I'm supposed to get that money back ‘cause they didn't do that service. Those were the only things I have negative feedback on.
The company sent me a quote and told me what was covered and what wasn't. Then they came out yesterday and replaced both condensation coils. They were totally professional and stuck to doing the job. There was no small talk. They got right to work and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. Everything was put back together, closed up, and cleaned up. They tested the units. The system's working fine now.

I did a thorough study and looked at the different plans with different companies. I also checked references and talked with people I knew who had that warranty and who used it (whether or not their experience was good). I went with American Home Shield because the people that I talked with had never had any major problems and were very satisfied with their service and the cost of it. I've had to use it a couple of times for very minor things. I ended up doing my claims online. As soon as I put them in, they asked for the trade fee. Paid that. I got a email saying that it had been assigned and they gave me the name of the company. It was simple and they were very prompt in getting the appointment. The technicians have been very knowledgeable too.
The only negative thing was I had them come out for the garbage disposal. The first time, the technician that they sent was wonderful. The second one that came out for the same thing was from the same company and he was a little short with me. I asked what the problem was, and he kept saying, “well, it had locked up.” I don't know what causes that. He also said, “I'm going to leave this little tool here. So if you ever have a problem, just use this,” but he didn't show me where to put the little tool. Also, when the individual came, he had a mask on, but he didn't wear protective booties. I just had my carpet cleaned, so I was uncomfortable with that. Other than that, I've not had any concerns with it.

I had a problem with the washer making a lot of noise. It sounded like it was going to fall apart. All In One Appliance checked it out. The tech came on time and called before he came. It was working fine afterward and didn't make any more noise. I would use them again.

There was one issue when the contractor had to come back a couple of times before the stove was replaced, which was clearly not working. But besides that, American Home Shield was very responsive. Even though I have a management company, I don’t give them the money or the go-ahead. I have to go see the property before I submit any claims. My husband had a house in which it was all the tenant’s fault and I didn't want to get in that situation. So, I submit most of the claims but after I do, AHS deals with my management company.
Sometimes, home warranties nickel-and-dime you about the replacement cost, but it's worth it. You might not get exactly what you're replacing but you're not replacing something that's brand-new. When I bought the stove, it was a great one but so many things have changed. So, the replacement cost is fair. People should understand that you have a warranty first and once your warranty with your appliance comes out, that’s when AHS becomes helpful. If you can get that under your mind that it shouldn't be free all the time, then you'll have a lot less sticker price shock.
AHS saves me money in the long run. It’s not always money but the headache, knowing that I have someone who’s gonna come check out the appliances and me not having to worry about having to call someone who’s an expert in everything. I call AHS and they send their expert to look at it. I don’t have to find someone who could fix the stove or the refrigerator. AHS worries about it so, it’s great. People should not be allowed to buy houses without it.

My husband tried to turn on the AC and it wasn't running, but the heater would run. He tried it again and thought that it had just been a while since he tried to turn on the AC so it was something fixable. The tech called to see if he could come earlier. He walked through the process and told me that the AC might need to be replaced, but he would report that back to his company. He had to let me know that he couldn't fix it. He was great. However, I haven't received any updates on when they would be coming out to put in the new unit. The fortunate thing right now is that it hasn't been consistently hot. I'm hoping to get this settled before we really get into that season.

There was a leak on both faucets in the bathroom and everything went really smoothly with AHS. I was very impressed. The techs also did a really great job on both times that they came out. They had to move furniture around and they put everything back perfectly.

In the years I've had them, they've been fantastic and the people they send out are very professional. We’re very happy with them. We recently had a water leak and the technicians capped it. Then, PG&E had to come out and do the resetting and everything else. But the contractors that came out were great.

Our dishwasher would leak water. I would turn it on and my floor would just have water all over it. Always There plumber came out and looked at it. They told me that it was something wrong with the dishwasher. It wasn't my fault. The tub coming loose in there and the heat drying had burned a hole in the tub and that's where the water was coming from. So, he told me that he would turn it in to American Home Shield to let them know what was the problem. Then I received a letter from American Home Shield telling me that it was not gonna be repaired and they sent me a statement saying that I had $380-something dollars to purchase another one. I went online and looked, and there was nothing within that price. They were all over that price. The cheapest that I found was secondary. If I was going out to buy a dishwasher, I would not have bought a dishwasher for $380-something.
Before this dishwasher claim, I had put in a claim for my washing machine. I bought the washing machine that was all right, which was almost $900. I sent down the bill and they sent me the exact of what they said they would send. I would not have bought a washing machine at the price that they told me. We have been members of American Home Shield for years and they have never come up with anything and it's unfair. I am paying American Home Shield monthly and when I have a claim, I get the garage sale prices. If I wanted to have a good quality machine of any kind, I've had to pay.

Everything went well except with the appliance. It turned out that there was nothing wrong with the appliance that I needed a plumber for that. I had a plumber here for another matter, and the plumber could have taken care of everything, but I had to call back and have a plumber come out to fix the problem with the dishwasher. The person that checked out the dishwasher told me exactly what the problem was and wrote it down on the invoice, so that when I call back for a plumber to come out, they would know exactly what needs to be done.

AHS is great. I put in a claim for my plumbing and the water tap. It was very smooth when I submitted the claim. I was having some issues online. But I called them and they helped me out. I'm very happy with the service. The tech was also knowledgeable and did a good job.

Our dishwasher stopped working. The technician said that there were two broken pumps on the dishwasher and that he would have to go back to American Home Shield to see if they would be able to order parts and they ended up doing an appliance replacement instead. I am still without a dishwasher. It took a long time for the technician to get assigned to our case. Then American Home Shield assigned someone who was not really local. So it took a little longer than expected for them to make it to our house to do the inspection. Then I had to call back a few times to get status updates on either the parts order or the status of getting a replacement dishwasher. At this point, we have a company that's local assigned to the installation task of the new dishwasher, but I haven't heard from them yet.

I have a leak, and I submitted the claim a week ago. I still don't have a plumber here. They said it would take 24 hours for the plumber to call me back. They reached out to the plumber but nobody called me back. Then they said it would be 4 to 24 hours for someone to call me back. I finally got a call from the plumber four days later, and they have scheduled something for tomorrow. But it's been over a week for a plumbing leak. The last two technicians that have come out prior to this plumbing issue have been fine. But AHS should expedite something as serious as a plumbing leak, rather than going through a phone tree and trying to find somebody to talk to, and then they have to find someone else to talk to. This experience has been inefficient.

My smoke detectors weren't working. I removed the batteries but whatever I did, it just kept beeping. The tech was professional and he explained to me why the detectors were beeping. He did everything and gave me some suggestions of things to look out for and do. I was very satisfied with my experience. AHS is very reliable. For me and my roommates, not having smoke detectors connected is a problem. The place could burn down. Now that everything is connected, everybody is a little bit more secure and happy. American Home Shield has kept going up on me on the copay. There are some providers out there that are less than them. But, I'm a loyalist so I stay with AHS. I would recommend the people far as the services. Been always right on time.

I had a friend who had American Home Shield and he was satisfied with it and I trust him. For my recent claim with AHS, my microwave wouldn't kick on. The lights worked but it wouldn't ignite to run. AHS took the information when I called and they assigned me a repair person. The service provided by the technician was fine. The guy was nice.

Something was wrong with the faucet. It was squirting water. It took about two days for the plumber to come out. American Home Shield has the contacts with the companies for repairs and we don't, so it's very handy.

We had water in the kitchen. The kitchen faucet was leaking, so I had to get it repaired. Submitting the claim to AHS was easy and they got great customer service. Everything got situated and handled. The technician gave me great information and great feedback. He did take his time, made sure everything was situated and tightened up correctly and made sure that both cold and hot water work out. He was a great technician. The most recent claim was for my oven. Submitting that was very simple and guided. Just click on what you need and the system takes care of the rest. The regulator that keeps the temperature control where it's supposed to be, we set it at 350 and it jumps up to 550. It wouldn't stop. American Home Shield replaced that. The tech was professional and timely. It was a good experience. They had to order the part, which took seven to nine days to come in. The oven has been working the way it is supposed to.

All three outlets in my outside patio quit working and one of the light switches in my kitchen outlet had a shortage in it. When the tech first came out here to assess everything, he had to order parts for my outside and so, he ordered them. He came back the next week and put everything in. He was completely professional both times. I like that American Home Shield pays a lot of out-of-pocket costs with fixing the major appliances in the home.

When our garbage disposal was not working, the plumber had to replace the unit because he said it couldn't be fixed. He did very well and he explained stuff to me. In my bathroom sink, the stopper I pull down to stop the water needed fixing. I didn’t put that in, so the plumber said he couldn’t fix that, which was fine. He told me what part to order because the part was still under warranty for the bathroom. I got the part, and he came back and he fixed it. Everything went well.

I had a little stumble the first time I filed a claim. American Home Shield emailed me and told me that Sears was gonna contact me. But Sears had the wrong information about the dishwasher. So I had to call someone else and then they called me back. Then that was that. They never came. So I called American Home Shield and I found out that I needed to pay the deductible. Once I paid the deductible, someone was able to come within the following week. Unfortunately, he didn't have the piece that I needed for the dishwasher. So we had to wait for it to come. When the part came, somebody came back out to repair. But each service person was very good.
Now that I know how American HHome Shield works, I've had a great experience. When I called to file a claim, the rep said she would call me back and she did. She said she had an appointment for that same day. I called her at 12:30 and they had someone there by 1 o'clock. The technician came, looked at the stove, and diagnosed it right away. Then he went through his truck and he had the needed part in his truck. He fixed my stove and I was able to use it when he left.

A tech came in for a tune-up, and he noticed that the blowers weren't working. He fixed it immediately. He was able to do it on site at that moment. So, it was very helpful for me. I've had American Home Shield since September and they've come to fix my microwave. They've been really quick and responsive, so I'm very happy with them over the company I was using before. They've done a great job over the company I used before.

I heard a few positive things about American Home Shield. Other people that I spoke with who had a home maintenance plan would always mention AHS. I went online as well. I looked at some of their reviews. I like the fact that there were some negative, but I also liked that AHS was mentioned often by the people that I spoke with over the other companies that I saw there because there are quite a few.
Recently, our washing machine wasn't emptying properly so we had to have a valve replaced. The contractor called ahead when they were on their way. And they were within the window that they gave us. The tech was very quick and nice. AHS was helpful and we didn't have to pay anything. The $100 charge covered the service call. It was unexpected, but I was delighted that I didn't have to come out of pocket additionally. Our house is relatively new. It's only three years old. With us and the service calls that we're going to call in, the fixes aren't that major, but I could see how the experience might be somewhat different if someone was in an older home or the expenses were more expensive where they had to come out of pocket, with more money.

I would recommend American Home Shield, but I would tell the person to make sure they know what they're not covering. I have done service requests for my garbage disposal and my microwave and they went good. However, I didn't know that AHS doesn't cover outside water damage. One Saturday, my whole house went out. When the guy came out on Sunday, he checked it and said that water from the outside got into my circuit breaker box. He was very nice, but AHS didn't cover that and he didn’t repair it. I'm a little peeved. It was nature that did the damage, not me. I have to get up to $4,000 to get that done.

My AC wasn't working. Repair people came in and it turned out that whoever installed the new thermostat had the wires crossed. They fixed it in five minutes. The AC seems working okay. Things are all good with American Home Shield and they seem to have a pretty straightforward claim process.
