American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

There was an issue with our oven door and I couldn't even open it because the hinge was broken in there. The techs came in and ordered the part. We got the part a few days later and we called them up to schedule an appointment. Then they came back and replaced the part. They came pretty quickly, too. When they were here, they found something else that was wrong which they had to replace as well. So, they came back and replaced that also after two weeks. But since they replaced the hinge the first time, we could use the oven already.

After I made the claim, the electrician called me back within 48 hours, and he was out within three days. So, it was good timing. He was able to explain everything that was going wrong and he made the repairs very quickly. So, overall, it was great service. Everything is working better than before because one of the switches on the lights was kind of flickering, and it finally went out. He replaced the switch completely so it's working perfectly fine now.

They called within hours after I submitted the claim online and were able to get someone out quickly and everything was fine. The techs had to come twice. The first time, the techs didn't have a part so they had to order it, but each time, they were nice. They were awesome, quick, got it done and were in and out.

Our dishwasher wasn't turning on. It would light up on the console but it wouldn't start a cycle. The tech from Valley Pro Appliance Repair came out in a super-fast and timely manner. He had to repair some kind of an electrical board and within a day and a half, he had the electrical part that he needed and had it repaired. He was back when he said he would be back and he did an amazing job. I was very satisfied with what he did. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a tech.

The water dispenser in the refrigerator was not working. It took two minutes for me to do a claim online to American Home Shield. I never met a guy more knowledgeable than Bruce. He was the technician that came. Unfortunately, the water dispenser can't be repaired. Bruce explained why. He proved where the problem was and then he told me what was gonna happen and what my options were gonna be. Now, I'm stuck with a $1,350 credit for a new $1,900 refrigerator to replace a $6,000 refrigerator. So, that part's a little frustrating. Other than that, the experience going through AHS and the fact that I have insurance, where they could even come out and handle stuff like this, is great. I wish there was a little more flexibility in the options. But I feel that AHS is an incredible value for any homeowner.

There were a lot of issues before because every time AHS sent someone, they never could correct the problem and they never came back. But AHS refunded me my money so I decided to give them one more year and see how it goes. So far, it’s been going okay. Recently, a tech came to fix my toilet that was stopped up. He was very polite and efficient.

I was not very happy with the first company that American Home Shield sent out. The second company was much better. I had an outside spigot leak and a main water valve leak. They said the outside spigot is not covered. I wasn't aware that anything outside of the foundation was not covered. But then the inside water leak was maybe two inches inside the foundation. The tech pulled out his phone and used his flashlight off his phone to look at it and said, “Yeah, it looks like this water might be coming in from outside. I don't know if this is covered or not. Just keep an eye on it.” Then that was it.
I took out a better flashlight, looked at it, and it was very obvious to me that the water leak was in the elbow and not coming in from outside. I called up my contact, Marsha, and she said, “Well, we can send out another company.” It was not clear I might have to pay if they find the same findings. I was like, “Wait a minute.” Then she told me afterwards that I wouldn't have to pay for the deductible.
The second company said, “Yeah, we have to fix it.” They also said, “If we cut the pipe and we bend it, you might have to replace the whole line outside, which will not be covered.” He was able to do it. It didn't have to go down that road. But still, it’s very disconcerting that I might have to dish out a lot of money. Also, it seems like there's a little bit of a conflict of interest of the companies that come out. They want to upsell you. With the outside spigot, the guy was like, “Okay. We can take care of that. It's gonna cost you $700 to take care of it.” I couldn't turn off the outside spigot. I could turn it off from the inside of my house, but the outside spigot wouldn't shut off. I went on Amazon, bought a two-headed hose diverter with two shut offs. So, I fixed it for $11.

I scheduled the preseason check for my air conditioner. A contractor came out and said that everything works fine. I recommend American Home Shield for any new home purchase. It saves you money when you don't have to pay for the actual maintenance. You just pay for the initial fee.

American Home Shield has been pretty good, so far. The first claim we had was the air conditioning and the AC people were excellent. The second one was the Accord company in Palm Desert here. We've had them before. They had to order a piece. But that has been a while and we haven't heard back from them about our refrigerator. We’ll wait a few more days, and then we'll follow up to see if they've got that piece.

I had an issue with the pilot light of my boiler. I didn't have any hot water. I had to get someone else to come out and repair the pilot light switch. Ace Heating and Cooling wasn’t able to do it. I still have a problem with my furnace. Ace Heating and Cooling was supposed to be replacing that in my house. They told me that they hadn’t received the unit yet. Maybe American Shield found one but never brought it to Ace. It's been going on for about three months now and I’m still without heat.

The washing machine was leaking and after 10 times, they plumber finally figured out what was wrong with it. American Home Shield has been getting everything repaired now.

I've had a couple of recent claims in the last month for plumbing. So far, so good. The sink is not leaking and the toilet works normally. AHS is definitely worth the money. It would have cost more than both my monthly fees and the 100 bucks to pay for them to come out. I like the app because it's like Uber and it shows where the contractors are. With other companies I get an eight-hour window. With AHS, at least I can get a better time. When the contractors get here, they're usually in and out. They're respectful and they do what they say.

The water heater wasn't working. The water was cold and it was leaking from the tank. The guys came in and said it had to be replaced. They took out the old one and put the new one in. They were professional and so we appreciated it. AHS was really thorough. That was a pretty quick turnaround between everything that had happened. It didn't cost us $4,000 like we were originally planning to spend. It was a good experience and great customer service. The people who they contracted out to were excellent choices.

One of the filters in the toilet died and needed to be replaced. It was making a really loud noise every time we flushed it. It had been doing it for years and we didn't realize that it was. We just thought it was part of the house. But it started getting worse. I put in a claim one morning and the plumber came before noon that day. All I had to do was describe the situation and before I could even flush the toilet, he already knew what was the problem. He had the part in his truck. He fixed it and was on his way. Today the sink is clogged and backed up, and we can't run the dishwasher. It just needs to be snaked. But we don't have a sink. American Home Shield is going to send someone tomorrow. It's been very easy to work with them. The people that they've sent out are very professional. It's just that our annual fee keeps going up and the deductible has gone up twice too.

I'm very happy with AHS. I did belong with another home warranty company before them and the difference is quite a bit. AHS assigns your case right away to someone. Sometimes it takes a while depending on what's wrong to be fixed 'cause it has to go through the approval process. I do wish that was a little bit faster but I had no issues with any of the repair items I've put in for.

I've put in claims for washing machine, air conditioner, and refrigerator to American Home Shield. The most recent was electrical. We had a section of the house that appeared to be without power. Things weren't working and it didn't show up on the breaker box or anywhere else, so we couldn't figure out exactly what was going on. The electrical guy was quite good, easy to work with, and took care of it in two hours.

Our refrigerator broke down and it was wonderful dealing with the tech. He came in, asked what the problem was and went right to work. He had the refrigerator working within 15 minutes. The experience with American Home Shield was easy, straightforward and professional.

The techs came out for my bi-annual tune-up of my air conditioning system. The unit upstairs wouldn't work and they had to order some parts. They came back and put those parts in. They were very polite and professional. They've been doing my work for years and I trust them in my house. I know they'll do what they say. AHS can be difficult sometimes in terms of communicating. Sometimes I have a little problem getting to the right person. But most of the time, they're okay.

The power button was off on the AC and the tech turned it on. I had to pay $100 and not to make a total waste of money, he checked out the unit and said that it has got life left in it and had Freon. I'm hoping he checked out the unit as best he could.

The dishwasher was not heating up properly. I did a claim online and it was very simple to set up. Then, the guy came out and he was super nice and friendly. He told me that he didn't have the correct part, so he would order the part and get back to me. Everything was really fast. He came back within a week and fixed it. Then, I did something wrong and I thought the dishwasher wasn't working again, so I had him come back out. But it was just a user error and he fixed it right the first time. Everything's running smoothly now and the service was spot-on. I was very pleased with AHS and I will stay a member.

The main issue was that my furnace went out. Before it could be replaced, the electrical should be properly set up. There was something that warranted an electrician to look at it. The two companies that were used, Peak Performance and 2B Electrical were very responsive. They came out right away and got the information back to American Home Shield. It just took them a little bit of time to approve whatever it was or whatever they needed to do, so there was a little bit of lag time. But all in all, it was a good experience.

AHS can make the claim submission process easier. When I called them to submit a plumbing claim, I had several issues and I wanted to hear them touch on all my issues with it. I had some sewage blockage and a leak behind the washer-dryer. Harvey's Roto-Rootered the sewage blockage and they got it out. But they had to go in my utility room and Roto-Rooter out under the hot water heater. The next day, I went to take a shower and there was no hot water. I went to look and the pilot light was out. I called and asked if they could relight it but they told me it was a completely different issue and that I have to call it in with AHS. For the leak behind the washer-dryer, they tightened the knobs but the plumber had to cut out the drywall for that. He said that he called and AHS said they would come and replace the drywall but I haven't heard a word from them. AHS has to come out and replace that drywall.
Also, Harvey's didn't solve my other leaks. I called back to tell AHS that. But then, it seemed like AHS didn't transfer all of the requests that I had to the plumbing company. The guy from the plumbing company came out and said, “Oh, I didn't realize you had a bathroom issue too." But he got on the phone with AHS and he fixed it, which is great. He was very polite and very considerate of my stuff.

I've had to make a couple of claims over the past 8 years that I've had the contract with AHS. The package that I got is probably a little more comprehensive than some of the others so I kind of didn't hesitate. It's a nice security. Recently, my air conditioner had a cracked pipe. I usually get a text or an email the same night when I make a claim. But it was after five and the company was closed so they didn't call me till the next morning. The tech came in on time and knew exactly what it was. He fixed it and was in and out in about 15 minutes. He was very nice. In retrospect, I probably paid more than I should have for the $75 fee. I could have gotten someone to help me and the pipe fixture was probably $2 but that's not my area of expertise. Being a single mom, it's nice to know that I've got kind of that handyman option available.

I'm enjoying the service through American Home Shield. I've only called them twice and I'm satisfied with the response and the repairs. The latest repair was for my faucet in my kitchen. I called them and I paid and told them what was wrong. Within 24 hours, I got a response from a contractor and it was good to go. A part had to be replaced and they had to order it. It was a while before they got it. The part came to my house, and I called them, and the man came over, he hooked it up, and I'm fine.

We've had two claim experiences with J & M Plumbing and overall, we've been pleased with them. The installs took a little longer but that's predominantly because our house is old and has old parts. They had to track them down to make those fixes. The work has been decent quality and the interactions with J & M have gone well. I have no major complaints and we're thinking about using them for some other plumbing works that we need to do. This time around, they used the apprentice who had been tagging along on the first install. We had him to do this repair for us and he did a good job. He was personable and timely in his installs. We've been able to engage with American Home Shield to take care of the issues that we have. It's a lot more effective than a car warranty. People should purchase the home warranty. It provides peace of mind and support for those unexpected challenges we always encounter with homeownership.

American Home Shield is worth the money and I've recommended it to all my friends. I've filed claims for my refrigerator, my ceiling fans, and most recently, my pool pump. It was an older pool pump so I had to pay an additional 250 to upgrade it but it's working fine now.

I have a forced air furnace that wasn't shutting off and it ended up being the unit on the wall in my house that was broken. So they had to replace the thermostat. The tech was very professional. He came out extremely fast, within an hour of calling me. It was very quick. I've never had somebody come out that quick. I love having American Home Shield. I had never had an issue filing a claim or with having somebody come out. Everybody that I've had come out and actually fix something has been great. I would recommend them to anybody that ask, and I have in the past.

The contractor did their job well. It would be better if they had everything that you needed done in one service, but it is what it is. They got everything working fine. They swept up the floor from all the things that they pulled out of the dryer and cleaned everything up. Anything that they moved, they put back in place so that it looked like they had never been there. I did think that there was an issue with the dryer after they left because it was still sweating and not drying. But they determined that it was the vent that needed to be cleaned. So I called out a vent guy to come out and clean the vent. Once that was done, it's been working fine ever since.
I had some issues because American Home Shield's website was not allowing me to do what I was trying to do and it wasn't accepting my sign-in, even though all that stuff works. But they got it fixed. I was able to sign in a couple of days ago and see what was going on. But initially, it took me about a day and then I finally gave up and decided to call. That was when they told me that they were getting other reports like that.

I had a blockage in the sewer. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came out in a day or two. He couldn't complete the job just because I didn't have a cleanout. They told me I had to pay for it. Then they would take care of the blockage. But he fixed another issue, a sink, while he was there. I tried to text that plumber back and asked him if he could do the cleanout, but he has not responded. So, I hired someone else to do it. And then when I call back, hopefully AHS won't recharge me another $100 service fee.

I had someone come out and look at the water heater that wasn't working. I filled out the request online and AHS had those folks contact us. Then the tech came out within a couple days and he got the water heater running for us. So it worked out well. He did a good job. It would have been nicer to have hot water a little quicker. But I don't know if anyone could have come out any quicker than they did. Other than that, everything went well. AHS was reliable. They did a great job. AHS gives me a sense of security knowing that things are taken care of.

I like AHS and I will 100% recommend them. I like the website because it is simple. It is easy to click and find the actual options. You can just scroll. When I did an electrical claim, I got a few emails about it as well as the confirmation. It also gave me the option if I wanted to track the repair guy. When he came, he explained it to me and everything works perfect now. He was professional, on point and right on time.

Aladdin's Plumbing came out for clogged drains. I had to just submit my request through American Home Shield's online portal. And then, all of the communication came via text and through the system. It was fully automated. The tech was very professional. He gave tips and tricks and took time to explain. No more clogged drains. AHS is a good service. It was fantastic and very user-friendly.

The slop sink in the basement was backing up and not draining completely. I had to call American Home Shield in the evening and they moved pretty quickly on it. Simply Plumbing came the next day in the afternoon and they were very professional. I would definitely recommend Simply Plumbing.

A service tech came for an HVAC claim and he was very helpful and informative. He set my mind at ease. He seemed to be very thorough too. The air conditioning now works so he knew what he's doing. I had an excellent experience with American Home Shield and I'm going to renew my home warranty when that comes due.

The refrigerator went out. The computer thing at the top where it reads the numbers went dead and it all stopped working altogether. SNL Appliance Repair fixed it and they did a good job. They had to order the part and they were honest about how long it took. It took a week to order the part that they needed, so it was fine. I would recommend others to get American Home Shield's service.

Victory Heating and Cooling, the company that was contracted to replace the furnace, was wonderful. We were a little worried because we knew that by going through a home warranty, we didn't have a choice in who we get to use. We felt very comfortable with Victory. At one point, someone from American Home Shield called and I could not understand what she was telling me. There was a language barrier. I was trying to get my claim emailed just to eliminate that step. So, there was a day or two when we were in limbo. But Justin from Victory was able to fill us in on everything. In hindsight after talking to Justin, that rep was trying to let me know what we would have to pay for labor and what would be covered. It was just this one hang up but that was a delay getting our unit. But that was not anybody's fault. Using AHS was a great experience.

My claims in the last month for the plumbing and electric went very well. With the plumbing, I was surprised because I sent the request in the morning and by noon, I was contacted by the contractor. That very same afternoon, they came to see the water damage that I had. The plumber showed me the problem and then having some water damage that I ended up filing a claim for my homeowners insurance. They explained me some parts that I didn't know how to proceed.
I have had American Home Shield for many years when I've lived in Kansas and moved to New Jersey. When I bought the home, they had a different company but once that contract was over, I came back to American Home Shield. I really recommend it. I value the convenience of knowing someone who knows his stuff is going to come and the timing of the repairs I've had. I assume every contractor group of people that American Home Shield has in their database has been proved and that I can trust the service.

The technicians come to do a job and they complete it. I'm happy. Sometimes, for the repairs to be performed, they take a little time, but because of the COVID, they're worried that things are happening. That's been affecting American Home Shield, but they are excellent. For $100, they come and fix the appliances, and it’s excellent to have a warranty.

Everything was good when I called American Home Shield. Their contractor came right in the window they gave. He was a very polite young gentleman.

A tech came to do a checkup of the air conditioning unit. He finished his job the day before and he did a great job. He was fantastic. He went step-by-step, explaining everything, and my questions were answered exactly. I had a claim with my washing machine before and the tech did his job and explained everything to my daughter. The two experiences I've had have been great.

The tech found a leak and he is supposedly gonna be done today. The only thing I didn't like is that he was supposed to come out yesterday but nobody called and then rescheduled it for today. Dropped the ball on that somewhere. But he is working on it right now. A lot of times that I've called AHS, the wait time was crazy. It was way too long. We canceled AHS at one time because they didn't pay for hardly anything. But then, we gave you another chance and see how it goes.

American Home Shield notified me that a check-up needed to be done and I also needed to have the air conditioner cleaned to get ready for summer. The technician came out when he said he was going to. He showed us a part that needed to be replaced. He had the part right there with him, so he replaced it. He also checked the gas heater and made sure that it was burning right. He cleaned the heat pumps. I've been very happy with American Home Shield. It’s very professional. Their techs gave me plenty of notice when they were coming out, and they called before they came. The job needed to be done, they didn't talk me into it.

I was with the technician the whole time he was at the house for the AC check-up. He had a paper thing that he was writing down. Two years ago, they gave me the paper but this time, he said it was digital. But they didn't send me anything. I had to call them twice. They finally sent something, but it was just a quick statement saying the system was working properly and it didn't need repair. It also said that that the system was an older model in fair to poor condition. I'm paying $75 for the gentleman to write down, make sure everything's good, and for him to give me that paper back to me, not a statement. I'm about to sell the house, so I need something to tell the new buyers that everything is working fine.
The fee to come out and check an AC is about $125 to $150. It could be higher. But American Home Shield is only gonna charge $75 for someone to come out. Then if they don't see that they can fix it, there needs to be a replacement. It sells you a unit instead of paying the whole $8000. We pay a little bit less with it. It makes it look like I'm saving some money.

I had a problem with my icemaker. There's a little motor in the back of the refrigerator that keeps the waterline warm that makes the water the icemaker uses to make the ice. The motor had to be replaced and the contractor replaced it. It's been functioning very good since they came out.

My AC was not cooling my house. Submitting a claim to AHS was fairly easy but my issue has not been resolved. The tech submitted the report stating that the coil had to be taken out of the closet and cleaned. He informed me that it'd be cheaper just to get a new system. So, at this point, nothing has been done. When I spoke to AHS about it, nothing could be done as far as help with the unit goes because it hadn't been serviced. I didn't like that and I will not be renewing my contract. This whole time, I had the peace of mind thinking that I was at least partially covered. To know that nothing will be covered is unacceptable for me. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

The refrigerator wasn't staying as cold as it should and each day, it got a little less. So I made the claim on the 27th, Friday. Somebody came out on Tuesday, the 30th. When the guy came out, the refrigerator might have been at 60 degrees. It was the coldest it could get and that the freezer wasn't working at all. The ice was all melting and I had to throw away everything in there. The technician tried to fix it but he said that it couldn't be fixed. It was one of these units that didn't have a port to put Freon in it. It was leaking Freon.
American Home Shield can't do anything without the report, and the contractor won't send the report. I've been waiting for them to file a report ever since. I’ve called them, and they won't return my call either. When you call, you get the answering machine to leave a message. I've never had problems with American Home Shield and I recommend them to everybody I talk to. But If I was American Home Shield and the contractor is treating my customers like this, I won’t deal with that company again. It's American Home Shield’s reputation that’s being damaged.

When the water was not coming out very much with my washing machine, I told American Home Shield what was wrong, and they took the claim. The commercial I saw on TV said they would come out and make the repairs, but that never happens. For this one, I had to wait a week before they even made their first come out. Other than that, the techs were very nice and respectful. The guy recommended something that was not covered to be fixed, and I had them to come in. They had to order the part, and I had them put that on. They did okay.

It has been easier for me to submit claims to American Home Shield online. They send me a notification for someone to contact me in 24 hours. But, I was a little confused when I was trying to do the online claim for the bathroom issues that I'm having. In my coverage, it says, shower and leakage in the showerhead but their system doesn't let me pick that online. When I hit leaks and I continue, their system says something a little different. I don't know what category that will fall underneath. I did leakage but couldn't describe what my issue was.

We had a problem with our dishwasher. The technician that came out was able to evaluate it. He had to order parts. The part actually got in after about six days, but they had plenty of time to make sure that the part would get in before they returned. And so, we had about another week or so of part in the house but no repair, without the dishwasher. Then he was able to return and install the parts. The dishwasher has worked fine and cleaned better than ever.
There's one that they have not been able to wrestle. We have a refrigerator freezer and the icemaker apparently has a manufacturing defect that causes it to ice up or do some leaking into the freezer section and it causes the freezer door to start to bulge with time. They've been out four times to work on that and have not been able to get it right yet. The last guy out got it and it functioned well for about three months. Now, it's back doing what it has always done, so it's a recurring issue that has not been fixed. Although, whoever came out last time was able to band-aid it better, but it's still a problem. My guess is that it is a manufacturing problem. Other than that, it was fine. The person was courteous, professional, COVID-safe, and did the job. He got in and out, and cleaned up after himself.

American Home Shield has sent somebody out right away for any issues we've had. It's been great. We had electrical issues where our ceiling fan was. It would trip the breaker every time we put the light switch or the fan on. Carry-On came out and diagnosed the problem. They were terrific and very efficient. Everything went very well.

I have two furnaces, and one wasn't working. The tech figured out why the one wasn't working. And then the other one stopped working. So when he came back the next day, he figured that one out too. The reset switch on one needed to be pressed, and somebody had turned the power switch off on the other one. It was just a matter of seeing what was wrong. He very quickly figured out what the problem was.
Our water heater turned out to be no good, and we ended up getting a new one. Having our water heater replaced was the biggest benefit we got from American Home Shield. And the fee was only 75 bucks. That was great. Also, AHS was very good at getting our air conditioning working. They just needed to put in some coolant. They also fixed our dishwasher. It had a hose kinked in the back of that that they were able to resolve. When we first bought the house, there was a lot of repairs that we needed to do. And we wouldn't have been able to afford to do them otherwise.

In the past, whenever people come out, they just never had the supply. They'd always have to reschedule and that's what I don't like. I've had AC unit out and I waited two to three weeks to get it fixed. The contractor came out and said that my unit was not up to code and they charged me thousands of dollars. When I looked at what they've done, I didn't believe they brought my unit up to code, which they said they would have to do. That was a really bad experience and that particular issue almost made me cancel the service. But this last visit, I just liked the quick turnaround of Astro Appliance and I appreciated that. The tech was on time. He called and kept me informed. He explained the whole process and the actual repair it took. Once they got the part, which came within three days, they rescheduled, came out and resolved my issue. Nonetheless, AHS should improve in their scheduling.

My water heater wasn’t working right and I was getting a lot of black ** out of the hot water heater and really stinky water. The rod in the tank went bad. I called American Home Shield to open a claim and it was easy. They helped fix the problem too. It was quick. The repair people were on time and very polite. They explained everything good. They put a new rod in the water heater and that was supposed to help fix the chemical reaction that was happening in the tank that was giving me all the crud and smell. They also bleached the tank to kill all of the bacteria. I'm still getting some leftover black ** every once in a while but the smell’s all gone and the water heater is working great.

I don't like the answering machine when you call in and claim. I've only used American Home Shield twice. The first time was a couple months ago for my garage door spring. When I called it in, I didn't get a chance to tell them it was the spring. They just figured it was my garage door opener. And there was nobody to talk to, to say, “It's not the opener. It's the spring.” They could have said, “Well, that's not covered,” and saved everybody a big hassle. But we had to jump through hoops. That part of it, I don't like. But other than that, it has been good so far. AHS lowers the price anytime. Recently, the furnace was smelling. It was burned up. The contractor replaced the blower on the furnace. The tech took it all apart, looked and did what he had to do. He did a good job.

My compressor outside was not coming on. I sent in a claim online and the website was pretty easy to use. I filled up my information and it was really easy. Then the contractor showed up the next day. It was pretty fast. They went upstairs in my attic and they were checking everything with their voltmeter. They went outside and then they finally said there was a little piece that shorted out and it had to be replaced. So they replaced it and everything started working again. They were very professional and knowledgeable about what they were doing. Since they left, it’s worked great. All in all, AHS was user-friendly, very reliable, and always timely.

My heat pump went bad. A tech came and said the compressor was bad. I asked if it was covered. He looked at what was covered under the insurance and what was not. That was when he told me that my compressor was covered but I would have to pay for the Freon. American Home Shield only covers up to $10 per pound so I had to pay the difference. He then said he had to order a part and then they can have it in two weeks. He later did the replacement. Things worked out well. I also did a rekey with American Home Shield and that was cool.

The tech from Myers came out to work on two different issues. One issue was the turn valve on the cold water was leaking in the laundry room and he replaced it correctly. Then in one of my secondary bathrooms, the valve was also leaking on the toilet. He replaced the line and the on-off switch as well. Whenever we've called with an issue, American Home Shield would send the representatives to come out and it’s been taken care of. My only issue is the timing on some of the items. Like last year, it took about a week for the part of the AC to come in and for it to be replaced. This time with Myers, it took approximately about a week before they could come out and take care of the issue. Other than that, everything is seamless so far.

We had a type of newer heating system and it was supposed to kick on automatically when it gets to a certain amount of degrees. Here in Texas, if it gets under 40, it's supposed to kick in automatically and it didn't. I did a service request to American Home Shield. The thing is I hadn't paid in a while. When they said that you make the payment, everything would kick in right away. But what was not told to me was that it would be $100 for the service, which we didn’t find out till after I paid. I was gonna pay anyway. It just would have been nice to know that up front.
The guys who came were very professional. It was like I knew these guys. We talked while they were doing the service because they came with their supervisor. The only thing was, when I made the service, the time got mixed up because I was looking for them to come at a certain time. Then when the time passed, I called. They came later. They were probably backed up from calls because there was a lot going on for that week. But other than that, it wasn't a big problem at all.
Right now, I'm having an issue with the card that was on file, which was the first card. It doesn't work anymore. But it's still on file. So, when they typed it in, it said declined when I know I have money in there. It's like an issue because I think they need to tell me, "Okay. You need to take this card off. We can't use this card anymore because you hadn't paid payments in a few months. And now that this card set on file that we can't use this card anymore." They're not telling me the reason why it's declined. American Home Shield is great. I love it. It's just that I wish we can just get this part resolved. I recommend anybody to get American Home Shield.

I got American Home Shield in Illinois when I bought a condo and I liked it so well that I renewed it. And now, I also have a condo in Arizona. I insisted that I have a home warranty when I purchased this place and I went with American Home Shield. I really appreciated their service anytime I called and I've had service calls at both places. I have appreciated the quality of the companies that are doing the repairs and the employees of those companies. So I feel really good about having American Home Shield. Recently, I had stacked things too high and something knocked an arm off the mechanism of the dishwasher. I didn't know how to put it back on, so I called AHS. The guy came out and he was very timely. He put it back on and showed me how to fix it if it came off in the future. I also talked to him about what kind of dishwashing powder was best to use and he was very helpful.

We went to use the microwave and no lights were showing. It appeared to have no power to it. It wouldn't work. The technician replaced a fuse panel. He was very professional and very friendly. It was excellent service. Having American Home Shield, I have some sense of security. I don't have to worry so much about things breaking down. We've had a couple other calls since we've been in this house. Sometimes, a service takes a little bit longer but it's because parts are delayed.

Sometimes, when I call the office, I have to wait and they ask a lot of stupid questions. They already have my address. Apart from that, the last two guys out here were great. I'm very pleased with both of them. I had a claim for an electrical switch and it was fixed. The electrician was great. I also called American Home Shield because there was water leaking. They sent a plumber out and he fixed it. He knew what he was doing. I've had other ones who didn't know what they were doing.

My refrigerator quit working on me last Tuesday. It started last Sunday evening. All the food was spoiled. American Home Shield set me up with a guy to take a look at it. He came out and said he couldn't work on it. They don't know the model. My washer had an issue along with my refrigerator. The guy took care of the washer really quickly, checked out my refrigerator and he said, “I don't know anything about this. I'm gonna have to turn it over to somebody else.” He called AHS back. They turned it over to a guy here in the local area. He said, “I'm sorry. It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get to you because I've had a lot of calls.” So, I called AHS again. They turned it over to this other guy that came today. He walked in. As soon as he looked at it, he said, “I'm sorry. We haven't had training on these machines. I can't work on it.”
I just went to the place where I bought it from, and they gave me the name of a couple of service people that work on KitchenAid. I'm in Mississippi. A lot of people don't work on it. So, I had all my food spoiled. I haven't been able to do anything since last Tuesday but eat out because I can't store nothing. At this point, I wouldn't refer AHS to anybody. It’s been since last Tuesday, and I can’t get anything done. It’s irritating because I'm spending a lot of money I don't have to spend, but I have no choice. Before they call someone and work on something, they should see if they're qualified to work on an issue.

The warranty is like a savings account to me. I pay them and when I have a problem, I call them. Normally, they come and take care of what I need. I had a problem with my dishwasher and the contractor, Sears, came out. The parts weren’t available anymore and they're supposed to be coming out in the next couple of days to replace the dishwasher. The replacement seems to be comparable to what I had.

I had a leaking hot water heater. My claim to American Home Shield was received quickly and we had a plumber who replaced the water heater within days. It was an old water heater. It was the end of its life. The plumber was very courteous and very efficient, and he cleaned up his area, so I was pleased. We've had multiple claims to AHS. We live a little bit remote, and so sometimes it's difficult to have someone come out here quickly but all in all, my experiences were favorable.

Submitting a claim is difficult when there's a language barrier. When we're trying to hold conversations and get things understood, and it's not being understood because of the language barrier, it just makes things much more frustrating. Recently, we had a guy come out because there was a small leak reported. He started to work on it. He then told us that it was getting worse and he had to go back out to his truck and get some more tools. Then he came back claiming that he was getting shocked severely and we needed to have an electrician come out before he could do anything. He left half of our house without water. Then we didn't know if our furnace was broken or what. It took us forever to figure out. We finally realized that he had turned our furnace off and never checked back in with us at all. It was in the winter and it was freezing. We called the office, and he was supposed to be their best plumber.
We called American Home Shield back and they were saying it's an issue of another $100. We said we’ll pay it and they just get someone out. The electrician came and he found out that there were no live wires. In the meantime, American Home Shield canceled the claim because the guy who initially came out from Whitney alleged that it was from pipes freezing. Usually, when pipes freeze and bust, they don't have any water pressure. We saw water pressure. It was just there was an issue, which he made worse. So then we called American Home Shield back to get a second opinion. The guy came and assessed it and said it was not from frozen pipes. It was from a previous repair. Meanwhile, the leak has gotten worse, and we have no water now because we have to intermittently turn it on and off when we want to use it because the leak is that bad. We're just stuck. AHS should find another company.

When I submitted a claim with AHS, it was efficient and seamless. I called in and the young lady went right away and assigned me a person to come out and provided me their phone number. It was a great experience with the techs. The guys were punctual. They called me like they said they were gonna do. They had all the products they needed. There were two of them and they both tackled the issues and got the job done correctly. They cleaned up after themselves, were professional and very polite too. People need to get AHS if they don't have it because it's a lifesaver. My husband is away a lot. I can't do some things so I can just call and get somebody like this. It may have been minor, but it was major for me.

American Home Shield was advertising a tune-up for air conditioning units. I availed of that and the person who came out was really nice. My only concern is he recommended that our unit wasn't sufficient. I called someone to have it verified and was told that everything was fine. The person who came recommended something that wasn't accurate.

There was a leak in the coils of the AC. The technician came and looked everything over and found the leak in it. He said that it couldn't be repaired and he recommended a new unit. So he's gonna come and put a new unit in. I wound up paying about $500, getting him to come out and his labor.

I was having an issue with my water heater. I have a Takagi T-K1S water heater and I kept getting an error code 21 for a while, I've contacted the manufacturer before and he said it was due to blowback pressure and they've suggested some actions previously. I told them it's still giving me an issue. I had noted a darkening spot on the computer board and I had previously replaced it back when we first purchased the house in 2018. I'd invested enough money into repairing this water heater that I didn't feel comfortable putting more money into it without having a professional come out and look at it because maybe it needed replaced. So, I put in the claim to American Home Shield.
Somebody came out. They said, "Oh, yeah, it's this error code." Using sandpaper, they scored the two little metal prongs for the igniter up above the burner. I wasn't having any kind of issue for about two hours. So, "Hey, your hot water's running, you're getting rated flow. Hey, it's fixed." After that two hours, by dinnertime that day, I was getting an error code three because they had also adjusted the DIP switches on it. Error code three is wrong gas. I had to contact Takagi's technical support. They showed me how to adjust the DIP switches so that those were correct, forwarded me the directions to properly take the procedures to address the backpressure, which included removing, degreasing, rinsing, and drying the burner element itself, and then scoring the igniter elements.
So, these guys didn't use technical support, which was free and easily accessible. They said they would need to have called them, said they would need to follow up but they did not. They just said, "Oh, this is normally what may cause the issue." When I called them and said, "Hey, I'm still having issues." There was no response back until the following Monday when I was like, "I need to get this fixed." I spent the weekend trying to sort it out. I got it resolved Sunday. When they called me Monday morning, they were like, "So it's fixed? Okay, have a good day." I said, "Hold on. Yeah, I fixed it. You were paid to come fix it, you failed to, and you're telling me 'Have a good day'." The person I spoke with said, "Well, at least it got done. Well, it's fixed." I'm like, "No, you didn't fix it. That's the problem. I want my money back." They said it was up to the warranty company.
So, I called AHS and put in a complaint about it. They gave me $50 back on it. This contractor was a bad one. The one that I put in for the air conditioning came out and I understand what they said. They couldn't do the work that was requested because, as I understood it from the contract, the AHS contract is kind of a gray area as to what they can do. More specifically, I've got a vent duct, a supply, send cold air, send warm air from the heat package unit to this opening. This opening happens to be improperly lined up because it's the exhaust from our range hood. And that's not their fault. That is the initial contractor from back in 2007 that installed it wrong. Now, everything that comes out of the range hood gets blown into the supply ducts for everywhere else in the house.
So, they didn't feel comfortable doing the work. "Hey, we're not comfortable. We're not certain about this. So, we're going to have to back out. This was installed this way. It's not like it broke or it came apart. So, we can't really touch it." That was their interpretation of the contract with AHS. I said, "That's unfortunate for me, but I get it. I have my own business, so good on you guys. Thank you very much." I felt that was professional.
When we first bought our house in 2007, we had an AHS for a year on it. We had a plumbing issue, and AHS sent someone who took care of it, and it worked out great. The only thing is I need to understand the limitations of the contract and what is supposed to be able to be worked on a little clearer. I'd tell others, "Just make sure you read the contract so that you know the conditions that meet the criteria to have it covered under the warranty."

Where you get the water from, from the washing machine where the hose connects to into the wall, it was leaking inside the wall. When the tech came, he took the hose out and it was a filter on the hose that was clogged up. The water wasn’t coming into the washing machine. It was like a backwash, going back into the wall. The tech diagnosed the problem and ran the washer to make sure that was the issue. He was efficient, professional, friendly and he was in and out.

When I’ve needed American Home Shield, they’ve been there. Every once in a while, I’ve had some trouble with the website but for the most part, it's easy. If it’s just a regular claim, the timeframe is usually very clear. On a deal like this where there were so many claims being filed all over, they were as precise as they could be. A contractor came to work on my heating unit which died during the freezing temperatures. They were very good and courteous. They explained what was going on and cleaned up after themselves. I appreciated them.
My only complaint through the whole thing was a mix up. I had told them that it was a propane heater and somewhere the wires got crossed. The connection kit that was ordered by American Home Shield was for a natural gas heater. When the contractor came out to put it in, they didn’t have all of the correct equipment. It was still another two weeks before they got back with the correct connection. I still didn't have any heat through the next freeze spell but it wasn't nearly as bad.

Word to the wise... NEVER get a home warranty. Save your money and set aside for future home repairs. Trying to deal with a company who reads from a script and won't transfer you to someone who has a clue or at least will try to help you when pregnant is not advised lol. I bought the largest plan through American Home Shield which for this specific complaint and purpose states it covers our air conditioner and ductwork. We have an air conditioner from circa 1996 that even Helen Keller can see needs to be replaced along with a house of elderly pups and a pregnant mama who can not stand hot days.
They sent a company out twice who agreed with us and said yes it's too old and needs to be replaced. After not receiving a call from either for 4-5 days I call to get the status and they said, "Call back by tomorrow, we are awaiting approval and then you move forward with the company." The next day I call and they tell me it's been approved for a "NEW SYSTEM" and I asked what would be out of pocket and they said only the modifications they mentioned (which this tech never came in the house or looked at ductwork or anything mind you lol)...
Moving forward... My husband asks for a copy of the tech's report to see what we need to pay and they send us an email that looks like a 5 year old wrote describing 3 parts but not the system itself. So my husband calls and they said, "Yeah we will be replacing parts, not the system and then you would owe up to 2200$." "What!? Not what we were told at all?" So back to speaking to someone who has no clue what's going on and their main job is to frustrate you to the point of canceling or letting it go.
We ask again for a report sent to us in a professional typed manner from said company and that ductwork is included in the contract they gave us. The gentlemen on the phone now tells us, "Well you could just cash out and use your own contractor but you would get no more than 500 or 600$." We ask to speak to someone higher up and that we are not happy with his knowledge or lack thereof and he keeps asking if we want to cash out.
Now backtrack to November 2020 when they raised my policy by about 15-20$ a month bc "local contractors raised their prices". I've paid in 2 years over the price of a new system and have had zero claims or anything repaired or replaced by them only my price raised and their said contractors on the list said they did NOT raise prices in years. At this point wanting to swipe my hair to the side and Karen everyone involved I call back and demand a call back by a manager and tell them I am leaving honest reviews of my experience in as many places as possible along with calling the Better Business Bureau and canceling my account which is definitely happening after all of this mess and they somehow figure out how to contact a manager and I'm awaiting a call as we speak.
We started this claim at the beginning of March and have not gotten anywhere. Moral of the story to all you new couples or anyone buying a new home... read the reviews of warranty companies' ability or lack thereof to actually complete a claim! Save your money and do it yourself and research prices before you use a company because they will try to use your lack of knowledge on the matter to get as much from you as possible.

My washing machine was not cycling through. The tech from ARK Appliances was terrific, smart, and on time. Other times, the people haven't been very sharp pencils. One time, a plumber came out and wasn't able to fix what was wrong so I was not gonna continue with Home Shield. But this last time was so positive that I've decided to stay. They could make sure they're sending out good people. I'd also love to get an email letting me know when they're going to re-up my membership. But overall, Home Shield has been consistent and reliable and they have good customer service.

The vent light didn't work and the microwave wasn't closing. Valleywide Appliance had to order parts for the light because the one we had was a fire hazard but they fixed both problems. Everything has been working very well. The claims process has been very easy so far. The only thing is I wish that AHS has a water softener as part of the contract.

Flowright Plumbing & Drain came out recently and fixed a couple of things. They fixed part of a leak in the toilet but it's still leaking. They also fixed the garbage disposal, a faucet, and a toilet in another bathroom, which they did good. American Home Shield's service is okay overall but it takes months before the techs came sometimes. Another thing I was unhappy with, especially last year, was that I never could get ahold of a manager. That was driving me crazy.

It wasn't a very good experience back in the day when I had to call for my air conditioner. It was in the heat of the summer and it took three weeks for someone to come out here and take care of the problem. This time, my husband did the claim online and he got a notice that it had been put through right away. He called the contractor and they got an appointment right away too. The tech came out and was here when he said he was going to be here. He knew exactly what the problem was and took care of it right away. It was very good customer service so we were happy. I would recommend American Home Shield.

American Home Shield always responds whenever I need them. I'm very happy with them. The tech who came out for the heating and air unit was very conscientious. He did his job well and he gave me information that I didn't know. He got everything taken care of right then and there. American Home Shield's claims process can be difficult at times. There were other claims that I had to cancel because it was more of an emergency situation, but it took too long for somebody to come out. For example, my heat wasn't working this winter. Apparently, unless it's under 30 degrees, it's not an emergency. But I have an elderly person in our house so I needed heat. I ended up having to cancel that claim and paying somebody to come out and repair my system because of the amount of time that it was taking. It's fine now. But I had to pay out of pocket for that. Recently the garbage disposal was leaking and the contractor came out five days after submitting the claim. Everything went well with the technician. Very professional.

The electricity in all of the garage area was out. I called American Home Shield and they were able to send somebody out the next day. He diagnosed the problem within a minute. Fixed it, consulted with me on issues how to avoid the same problem in the future, and went on his way. The first claim, we did the rekey. Then, the heater upstairs needed fixed. And then, we had a backed-up sewer. All went well. I was impressed with the service. I had to be talked into buying the warranty by my Real Estate agent and I thanked her for convincing us to buy because it has come in helpful. We didn't anticipate to have four service calls within the first two weeks. Not only were they all handled properly and efficiently, they were all solved. It is well worth the investment to have AHS onboard.

We had American Home Shield for a year when we first moved in. Then everything was breaking in this house. We didn't know who else to go with and we figured it would be easiest to go with them since we already knew them, and we didn't have a whole lot of time to research other companies so we decided to renew the contract with them. Sometimes, when we call to submit a claim, it'll all be just electronic and it's frustrating because we can't talk to somebody to make sure that we're submitting it correctly and that the whole problem is going to be addressed. Then, sometimes we'll get somebody on the phone who just doesn't know what's really going on, and there's a communication barrier. They can't understand us, we can't understand them and sometimes, it's okay. It all depends on luck of the draw.
Then it’s hard to get ahold of the contractors. Sometimes, we get pushed aside because they don't like dealing with American Home Shield and how long it takes American Home Shield to pay out the claim. We get different attention than upfront-paying customers, versus going through the warranty company. Warranties have to have contracts with companies. It would be nice if we could use our own contractors and be reimbursed. One, they know the home better and they know what you're dealing with. Also, it's a comfort level and you build a relationship with them. That would be helpful. Plus, it's easier to get a hold of the contractor. Then the amount of time for reimbursement needs to be better.
When our hot water heater went out, we seriously went over three weeks with no hot water because they were shopping around for the best price of a hot water heater. I have young kids and it was cold outside, so it wasn't an ideal situation. Then, they had it sent to the wrong location and I couldn't call them to see where it was sent because they wouldn't release any information to me as I didn't order it, American Home Shield did. That was a pain and really frustrating.
The customer service needs to be a little more knowledgeable of the company and be able to determine if something's an emergency situation versus non-emergency. We had a problem with a gas leak and they said it's emergency and that somebody will be dispatched out within 12 or 24 hours. That went three days. I called every single day asking what is going on. Nobody called me back and nobody’s coming. They said since it’s an emergency, the contractor's supposed to reach out to me and I asked for the contractor’s information. So, if they're calling about a situation that's an emergency, it's not treated as an emergency.
Recently, we had to call 911 because we were awakened early in the morning from our carbon monoxide detectors. The fire company determined it was coming from the furnace upstairs. I initially called the gas company that I used to fill my propane to make sure we didn't have a gas leak. They came out and determined that we did not have it, but found that there was an issue with the furnace upstairs. I called our home warranty company to let them know that we needed somebody to come out so they dispatched Fick’s Mechanical.
When the guy came out, he was very nice. But he didn't see a problem with the furnace. It seems to be running fine. However, since the fire company was here, he'd just condemn the unit, so I didn't know if he really even looked at it. Then I asked him to check the unit downstairs as well just to make sure that there was nothing going on with that one as well. He also said that one seems to be fine. But I've had my gas company out here now three times because of possible issues with my furnace downstairs. It was leaking propane.

I had a toilet that was rocking and a technician was scheduled in no more than two days. He fixed the problem the same day he came. I like AHS better than the company I was with. They repair the problems.

We had a leak in our hot water heater. I called AHS on Thursday and the contractor came out on Monday. The issue ended up being some kind of valve they had to replace. So they fixed it and everything is good. Whenever I have had something, AHS has always come out really good and done the job professionally and quickly.

I asked for my built-in microwave to be repaired and American Home Shield was saying that our contract doesn't include that. I spoke with a rep when I initially put in the claim and she said that was true but she looked further into it. She said that the microwave was covered so the issue was escalated with a rep. I've been waiting for them to call me back and they haven't, and it's been over a week. The microwave is still broken and I would like for it to get fixed or replaced. It was our understanding that our kitchen appliances were covered. Never did I think that the oven and refrigerator are but the microwave isn't. That doesn't make sense to me.
Overall, AHS has been beneficial. I have been completing my claims. They fixed my faucet and replaced our water heater. But there were times where some of those that they chose to come and do the fix upcharged us, which was frustrating. And I just learned that I should always contact AHS first to see if they would cover the claim.

AHS's website is pretty intuitive. I did a claim for my dryer online and they said that the contractor would reach out to me within 24 hours. All-City reached out and set up an appointment for my dryer claim. They asked me to take pictures of the dryer and the model number tag. They fixed it, gave me a copy of the invoice, and told me how long I had for warranty. They were pleasant, professional, and prompt. The dryer has been functioning perfectly since they came.

We have a microwave which door switches keep going out and we've had it repaired a few times. We're struggling to have it fully repaired where it'll continue to work so we have a new one being shipped in. We've had to call in for service a couple times and it's very quick scheduling a repair and very quick out. The subcontracting is ideal and AHS sends out quality people. They came out to fix the water heater a while back and found a leak on the water heater so they replaced it. That was a great way to cover.

At first, American Home Shield was great. Then they started going downhill and everybody was quitting. They had a bad rep. Now, they are coming back. They are even accommodating me as a teacher. Because we were given no uncertain circumstances as teachers. “Don't you be absent. We have zero subs for you.” On Saturdays, AHS hunts down a company. And the electrical guy came by on a Saturday for me. He did the lights thing for my front porch lights. One was having problems. The tech was professional. Got it done. With COVID and AHS coming through, I'm impressed with AHS now. They are trying hard now after their little dive they took six years ago. They are finding 5-star companies and bending backwards on the phone. I hope they get back all of their customers that left them. They are coming up in the world.

AHS has been above and beyond anything I could’ve imagined and I would highly recommend it. It’s the best experience I've ever had by a warranty service. I had another warranty company before that would take a month to get out there. AHS is better than them. When I call AHS, Above and Beyond Appliance Repair calls me the same day. They come out in the next day or two and they fix the problem right away. This gentleman that comes out is very professional, polite and fast. He doesn't goof around.

The service through American Home Shield took a little longer because they had to get another water heater. Other than that, it was fine. The person that did it was good. I cancelled AHS once because I got very upset with them. My plumbing was down the whole house. I couldn't use the sink and the toilets. It was on a Friday and it was like 3:00 in the afternoon. I didn't expect anybody to get out here that day, but I thought, "I had to have somebody out." I couldn't even stay in the house. It was summer. They said they couldn't get anybody out until the following Wednesday. That was not gonna work. I wasn't going to stay in a hotel until Wednesday to get my plumbing fixed.
So, I called somebody out that came out that evening and fixed it for me. It cost me $300 to get it fixed, but it was fixed. I couldn't live in the house without it. That was what ticked me off. Evidently, AHS had set up an appointment for somebody to come out the following Wednesday and my daughter called and cancelled it. I didn't think she cancelled it and I cancelled it again. I ended up getting billed $200 for that, and I was like, "I never got the service. I cancelled it." It was really frustrating.
I got to thinking about it and I got the service again. It's not like I didn't like the service prior to that, and then I had a problem getting my dryer fixed because they couldn't get the part in. But that wasn't their fault necessarily. It took me almost two weeks to get my dryer fixed because they didn't have the part for it. They couldn't get it right away, but I can live without a dryer. I couldn't live without being able to use the bathroom or even fix a meal in the house. All kinds of dirt and stuff was coming up out of the faucet.

The water heater is 15 years old, so the tech's option is to replace it. I have to reset it every time I want hot water because it’s broken. It's still leaking. They have not replaced it yet. I'm wondering when AHS is going to send somebody out to replace the heater. Other than that, I'm very satisfied. My experience is always good.

My hot water tank was broken and I needed to get it replaced. It took me a few weeks to figure out what I was going to do and find the right people. But the American Home Shield warranty was part of my stellar credit from my house. So price-wise, that was the best option. The contractor I got was really responsive. There was a little hiccup getting the water tank on the day they thought they were going to get it but the techs just came the very next day and it was fine. AHS also serviced the blower for my furnace. They fixed that for the service fee. AHS is the only way. It's a good service to me and it's been very helpful. Their website looks nice too. It's easy to navigate.

American Home Shield used to have an automatic thing that you sign up for where you get three or four visits a year for the AC, but they stopped doing it. When I saw in an email that they were going to do it on a one-time basis, I went to get one of our units, the one that controls the upstairs, checked out. My other one that handles the air and heat for downstairs took a dump on me about two months ago and I had to get it replaced. The techs who came out were really friendly. The other guy stayed down then the young guy went up on the roof and did the thing. They were talking back and forth towards any findings, then they said that everything was good. All in all, I've been AHS for a couple of years and I like that they cover everything that they say they're going to. I have another home warranty, HomeServe, that can fill in for stuff that AHS can't cover. They're also a little bit more in-depth when it comes to plumbing.

I submitted a claim on the 13th, and I still haven't seen a technician. I reached out to the company and they're supposed to be coming today. But that process was really convoluted. When submitting a request, they don't always put the phone number in, I need to check. Then, I have to log back in to find out the name of the company. That's ridiculous. When I submit the claim, my text message should include the name of the company and their phone number.
Most of the time, the technicians that come out are pretty good. But they seem very concerned about making sure that they don't do anything that would be too much. One time, I had a claim where the wall was completely wet because a pipe behind it had leaked. We removed the wall because it was a mold issue. When the technician came out and just fixed the pipe that was cracked. We asked who will fix the drywall. He said that since we removed it, it won't be getting fixed. I told him that he couldn't access the pipe without removing the drywall. He kept saying that we removed it. First of all, how was I supposed to know what the issue was without doing that? It was so decayed and wet and we just pushed a hole to figure out what was going on. Then, all this water came out. Now, he was telling me that. That annoyed me with American Home Shield.

We started hearing a noise from our central AC unit. They came out, found out it was the warped fan blade that damaged the motor. The tech came back within the week, which was great. Everything's working well. The tech was very nice and answered all my questions. We had one other claim and they fixed it. But one thing wasn’t covered so we ended up paying out of pocket for it. But everything was fine. We’ve had a good experience so far. I like the ease, the convenience and that I don't have to pay out that large amount for repairs.

Two techs came out to check our AC and they arrived early. They were both very nice, professional, and quick. They finished up their work and one of them explained everything to me. He had me sign the receipt for everything. But that service was just a check. I had to log another request to have somebody come out and actually look at the AC and fix it. I have contacted the second company to go ahead and order the coil piece that needs to be replaced. I've already gotten the quote through the home warranty on what our out-of-pocket will be for the Freon.
I'm a little disappointed with our coverage. We've gotta do $615 out of pocket to cover what the warranty doesn't. Our service with American Home Shield is coming up two years. We renewed after the first year because it seemed like a good plan and it was affordable. Also, we were getting ready to list the house for sale so it was going to be a transferable warranty. We ended up not selling last summer so we will continue to have this warranty for whoever the buyer may be.

The plumber checked on our toilets. One of them was actually broken and the other one was as leaking and was not flushing well. They were supposed to check the leakage too. In one of the toilets, we have the blue stuff that goes in. So when the plumber finished, he cleaned it up and then we mopped and everything. I used it the other day and noticed that blue stuff in the toilet was on the floor again. The rep said that if we had any more issues, we should make sure that we reach out to them. So, that was what we did. They are supposed to come out today, but they haven't been here.

The socket to my shower broke off and I needed to get it fixed. I submitted a claim online and it was a very fast, easy, and friendly online submission. I got a call really fast to get somebody out here, unlike with my first claim which took two weeks. I told the contractor who came out what the issue was and they fixed it right away.

It was a long time getting my hot water heater fixed. It was two months. American Home Shield ended up having to replace it. But the techs worked through different things that could possibly be wrong. They would come out one week and flush it, and then the next week, they did some diagnostic. Then they waited three weeks for some parts. Then the parts didn't fix it. So, they waited another week or two for the hot water heater. Then they put that on. That worked three days. Then all the electricity went off in that area. I had the electrical guy come, and I was gonna have the plumbing come. The plumber didn't want to come when the electrical guy was here, and got in a disagreement on the phone with those two. The plumber never came back, and the electrical guy fixed it. He was fine. He was trying to fix it. He wanted the plumber there so they could work together too, but the plumber wouldn't.
When the plumber was on the phone, the owner was acting pretty condescending. Before that, the plumbing company had been very nice to work with. They were just not getting anything done because of the warranty company. So, it was not a very good experience with no hot water for seven weeks in the middle of an epidemic. We have a nurse that works with COVID, so it was not good.
Overall, the service did save me money. So it's whether you want to put up with all that to save you money. My electrical started acting up at the same time. The first electrical people couldn't help me. But the second electrical guy that came out got that working, and it's been working since. So, I've been happy about that. That electrical guy really took some time.

The washer wouldn't drain and spin. A-1 came out and was super professional. The guy was great meeting the dog and doing his stuff. Everything was fine. He said that the problem was the drum and the transmission but I heard from American Home Shield that they don't make them anymore type of deal. So, we chose to take the cash they offered, which hasn't arrived. And then, we bought another washer. I took a picture of the receipt and sent it to AHS at their email.
We have used AHS three times now. We bought a house recently in Nevada and the appliances were here. The first time that we used AHS, the guy came out and fixed the dryer. It's working great. The second time, the icemaker in a new refrigerator and the washing machine stopped within one day of each other. So, we waited a little while to see what was going on with AHS. I was without a washer for 12 days. But we could have bought one sooner. We were waiting to go through the insurance, so to speak, paperwork. But AHS was the first service company that we've ever had in our lives. The seller paid it for a year. But the $550 for all the appliances in your house, the $75 service call, and they are able to fix it when they come, I would highly recommend their company. And we're going to make sure that we continue next year. It would be $550 well-spent.

The last claim I had was for the dishwasher and it was pretty good. AHS took care of it and in prompt time. The tech was real nice and good. He did a good job. The dishwasher is running better than when I first bought it. AHS is doing real fine for me. They have a very good program. I recommend them to anybody. They got a good service going on and they are prompt in time and in handling your claim.

I’ve been with Home Shield for about 30 years, and with the way things are run, the company should go bankrupt. I've had two different claims recently on two different properties. I have a house in North Carolina, and one day, I got to kidding around with my son that the prices on the houses have gone up so high and that they're selling so fast that I should take and put the house up for sale. I'd called up to have my refrigerator repaired because it wasn't working. Home Shield said they'd send somebody out. That fella couldn't come out for a week or so, and then it got even longer. Then when he came out to repair the refrigerator, it was gonna be three more weeks before the parts got there.
My sons were kidding around about how fast houses are selling. I bought a sign from Lowe's. My son happens to still be at the house and he said a friend of his called and was asking about the house. So, he said, “Well, we won't put the sign up today.” The fella didn't get the house. So, we put the sign up. The next day, by 10 o'clock in the morning, the house was sold. The man that bought it took the sign up. In the meantime, I'm not too worried about the refrigerator working.
Now, it takes over a month to get the refrigerator finished. Then they said it's gonna cost too much after the man's worked on it for about eight hours. Home Shield said they're gonna send me a check for like $1,900. I told the people that were buying the house, “The refrigerator’s gonna be repaired because it's got a American Home Shield policy on it.” In the meantime, it's taking so long to repair the refrigerator. Now, they say it won't work. I told them, “I'll just take $2,000 off, then go to buy another refrigerator.” The refrigerator cost like 3,000. Home Shield is not giving me the amount of money. Then they tell me they're gonna send me a check.
I've been going through it with them because I can't talk to these people in the Philippines, China or Japan. Most of the time, I have to almost hang up on them. I've asked for a supervisor. I get them. I get disconnected. It is absolutely the pits normally trying to get it done. However, at my other house that I put the policy on, they've come out to fix the refrigerator and the air conditioner. Everything has been absolutely fine with that going on. But to talk to them and to hold on the phone for 45 minutes an hour, then get disconnected, to talk to somebody that can't understand English practically, it's really not worth it. I have four policies with Home Shield. It's probably time to change and go to the other companies that advertise on TV every day and see if they can do a better job of getting out or answering the phone.

American Home Shield is a good company all around. When I submit a claim through the computer, it's easy. The site essentially walks me through the process including what the appliance might be and what the issue is with the piece of equipment. It then sends me to payments. Soon after, I would get an email or a text. It would tell me which vendor would be coming out to do the fix. It's fairly simple.
All the techs that have come out told me exactly what they were doing, “This is why it does this,” “Have you ever had an issue with this," “Try this,” or “Give us a call.” The second time where a tech came out, it was the same thing. He told me whatever he could figure out was wrong with the unit and threw what he believed was wrong with it, why it might be doing what it did, and what I can do if it happens again prior to calling for service.
One contractor was I had was Sigmond Plumbing and they came out twice. The first time was because two toilets weren't flushing and had to hold the lever down for the entire flush. The technicians fixed those issues. They replaced the floats and the mechanism. The second time Sigmond came out was because my water heater was not lighting even though I followed all the protocol and directions. There was another plumbing company that came out previously in October for the unit. I was happy to see that it wasn't them coming out when I put in my service order. Sigmond is a much better company.
Those guys were quick. The first time they came in, they assessed the situation, got the job done, and were gone within 15 minutes. The second time was the same thing. It wasn't rushed and they did their job well. The tech for the water heater went through the protocol and saw that the status light was flashing and it was throwing a code. But he said it looked like the unit cleared itself. He turned it off again just to make sure that it was working then turned it back on again and it stayed lit. It’s been lit since Monday. It seems to be working okay so far. Overall, I would use American Home Shield again.

SJDI fixed the electricity. It was fantastic. It's working well now. However, with AHS, there are always hidden fees and they don't cover really much. They are just a portal to get an electrician here, which I could have just called. They didn’t do anything. Waste of money. I’ll cancel, probably.

It's nice to know that I have AHS to rely on in case something messes up in the house. I did a claim for two different things in my house and I got calls from both contractors the next day for scheduling so that was really nice. For the most part, I had a really good experience with All Out Appliance. They had changed some fuses on my microwave and it was a little finicky still but they did fix it. It wouldn't even turn on at first. Now, it turns on but sometimes, it's registering that my microwave door is still open which sometimes is a little weird. It works nice although it seems like there's still something a little bit wrong with it.

The central HVAC system was not operating and the claim was handled in an expeditious way. The person that was sent out was very knowledgeable. He went right to the problem and rectified everything on the same day. I had warranty companies for about the last 20 years and that was very unusual to happen, so I was impressed with that. But American Home Shield have you pay the deductible up front and that's a little off-kilter. The other company I was with for many years, it was pay once the third person got here. Also, you have to be in that warranty with American Home Shield for a limited time before you can file a claim.

The over the stove microwave stopped working. It couldn't be repaired, so it had to be replaced. The people that delivered it came in, delivered it, but they didn't know what they were doing. They just delivered and said they would put it up. My wife said, "Well, you two?" They went out to the truck and brought it. They didn't even have a lift. For two guys just to lift it, they need to lift it up so they can install it. Those were just delivery guys. My wife told them, "Uh-uh. You are not doing this. You're not going to drop this microwave." So, she called American Home Shield back and told her to send somebody out here that does that type of work. And they did. We have used them several times and they sent out some good people up until the people that delivered this microwave tried to be installers, but they clearly weren't. Other that, I have recommended AHS to some friends.

I had issues with my first claim, so I had to put it in again. On the other hand, my last claim has been fine. I called American Home Shield and told them that my waterline leaked, like there were holes in it. They had plumbers come out and replace it. They told me they would put it in and then, I got an email saying it was approved from the home warranty, so I just had to schedule it. The ones that performed the service were good.

From what the plumber did, everything seems to be fine. I also noticed that the pressure from the water flow reduced a little bit so I think the problem was fixed. Initially, I had a pipe that was leaking water. Apparently, the pipe had a valve that was loose. It's only supposed to release pressure but the water was leaking through that. When the plumber came in first, he cut off the pipe and closed the pipe so there was no opening which increased the pressure when I was doing laundry and the machine was just jumping around. When they came back, they replaced the valve behind the laundry machine. They put it back to the way it was, put in a new valve and replaced the valve from the main water.
When Tim, the service manager from the T Mayes Plumbing company, explained everything, everything made sense to me, like why I needed to replace the valve. But somebody from American Home Shield should have called me to explain these things to me 'cause I had no idea what was going on with the pipe. Nobody from American Home Shield called me to at least tell me what was covered and what was not. I'm still thinking if I should continue with them 'cause if there is no proper communication of reaching customers and explaining to people what's going on, then there's no need to pay money. I've called people constantly for two almost two weeks. I have to follow up but yet I'm paying money. That's not fair.

I continued with my dad's contract with American Home Shield. They're doing a great job and the technicians along with it. The tracking of when the technicians are on the way works. They're slow on some others but that's no big deal. When I was having issues with my garbage disposal, a technician came in and I told him what was going on. I very seldom used the garbage. Just looking at it, he said that it might be frozen. He tried that first and within a couple of minutes, he had the garbage disposal going and running. He filled it up with water and made sure he flushed really well. He just told me to turn it on every now and then.

I called in a claim for my air conditioner that wasn't getting cold. The reps that I talked to were very good. The technician came out and fixed the air conditioner. He told me that he found the leak and put a piece on my air conditioner. My experience with American Home Shield is very good. Every time I have a problem, I have no problem calling in a claim and they'll have people come out within one or two days and get my problem fixed.

When things break down, American Home Shield is pretty prompt about getting the technicians out here. I do all my claims online. It's an efficient process. The people that represent them seem to be professionals and good. Beacon Hill was sent here and they were great. When some GFIs went out, the electrician came in and fixed it. Two of my smoke detectors were bad, so the tech came and replaced them.

We submitted a claim for our garage door opener on the weekend and the guy was out there on Monday. He fixed it on the spot. But when we had our refrigerator go out, it was a nightmare. It took American Home Shield about three months to fix it. Finally, I had it escalated. It was not a good experience. When we had a stove go out, it took another three months but we finally got it solved. So American Home Shield needs to speed it up a little bit. Also, they're hard to get ahold of. You have to do everything online.

My dryer broke and my dishwasher needed repair as well. The technician recommended a new dishwasher but nobody has followed up on it. I don't like that I have to call American Home Shield to follow through on the claim. They should be calling me. But it was a cool experience.

The call service is a little expensive for the things that AHS do. But so far, they're okay. When I had a plumbing issue, I had two plumbers come out and they acted like they couldn't fix it. I ended up calling somebody on the outside after I've already paid my money to AHS. I had to call somebody on the outside and they came and fixed it. I had another plumbing issue and the guy that came out was nice. He told me some extra things about the garbage disposal and he fixed it. It was something I could have done from Home Depot for $5, but I paid $100 to have him do it. That was not the first time I've had somebody come out and pay them $100, but it was a two second job. AHS doesn't seem like it's worth it. It seems like I pay every month and then I have to pay $100 on top of it, but I can call whomever on the outside and get the job done for cheaper.

I had people come out to fix my pool and that was a disaster. The vendor didn't say nor do anything. They left and I called to find out some information. But, they wouldn't respond to me. Eventually, I got somebody on the phone and they told me that the parts for my pool were there. They apologized that they didn't let me know anything and said that they'd be out again on Tuesday. They missed that appointment so I called back on Wednesday. They then said they'd be out on Saturday but they missed that appointment again. It was a complete mess and it took over a month. The problem has nothing to do with AHS. It's just the supplier that they were using.
Other than that, everybody that came out last year did a good job. They were efficient and contacted me quickly. It was a positive experience which is why I signed back up for this year. Recently, I had leaky faucets. They sent S.W.A.T Plumbing who has been out a few times and they've always done excellently.

If I had an issue, I could call in or use the internet to get a service call placed for $75, and then AHS would send somebody out. I'm pretty happy with it. That's why I keep re-upping every year. Recently, my furnace was making a loud noise, and it seemed to be going through filters more quickly. Even though it was near the end of the season when we would need it, I thought it best to get it checked out. Fast Response first looked at it and they didn't see anything jumping out at them, but when they dug into it a little bit, they were able to find the issue. They also explained to me preventative things I could do going forward.

I had a great experience. The only thing I didn't like was the price of Freon, but it is done and fixed. The contractor did a good job. If you have got a fancy house or your first house, you need to get American Home Shield.

Our dryer had a malfunction. It made a really loud noise and it had a rollerball in the inside of it that wasn't moving. After making a claim, we were told that a contractor would contact me and they did. They wouldn't be able to come out for a couple of days, which was fine. Fuller Appliance Repair was the contractor and I couldn't be happier with them. They were great on the phone. A gentleman came to the house and he was friendly and professional. He explained everything very well and took care of everything pretty quickly. He replaced the whole contraption inside the dryer and now the dryer is working as it should. If I ever have to file another claim for an appliance that he can fix, I would definitely request that he come back out.
Before the repair, we could wash our laundry but we couldn't dry it. We had to go to the laundromat. Now, it's much more convenient having a functioning dryer in the house. It just puts us back into our normal routine after a bit of a disruption. Having a home warranty is essential. I tried to have my dad buy a policy with American Home Shield but he went with a different company and he had a horrible experience.

There was a dryer malfunction, so I had to get the technician to come and change the control board. He was knowledgeable and he was able to quickly identify what the issue was and started to work on it. He did the work efficiently. It was good. However, the response times might be faster. From the time I put in a request with AHS to the time the technician was able to come, it was one to two weeks. The dryer was not that big of an emergency but if it was something else, then it would have been a bigger problem.

We smelled a bad smell in our house. It was like a wire was burning. And then we noticed that our heater was not blowing air through the events. So we cut the unit off, and we called, and American Home Shield sent someone out. The guy came out. The guy explained everything to us, what was going on, what needed to be repaired. They did it and were extremely fast about doing it. It was unbelievable service. Couldn’t ask for anything any better. A home warranty is worth the money. I can assure you that because just one repair will pay for the contract alone. Especially for the air conditioning, this time of the year, I highly recommend it.

There didn't appear to be a connection being made between the compressor and the furnace. I called AHS, then I got an email and a text about the contractor. The young man who came in was very helpful and he went right to work. He examined the furnace, said that he wasn't really sure what was going on but the connection was not being made between the furnace and the compressor. The compressor was coming on, but there was no airflow coming out when he turned on the air conditioning. So he said that all he did was tighten a couple of things. So far, I haven't tried the air conditioning again it hasn't been warm enough. He was great though and I'm assuming that it will work again when it gets warmer. All in all, I've had my contract with AHS for years and I intend to keep it.

Access Appliance fixed the icemaker that was not working. The tech was perfect. I had another claim on the air conditioning unit and that was terrible. It took the contractor five times to fix it over a period of over six months. I had to pay almost $2,000 which is above paying American Home Shield. I'm not too happy about that and I still am not sure why I had to pay the extra amount of money. I think that I got ripped off by the people.
At first, they sent me freon so I paid for it. That was back in December. Everything worked fine but it kept on shorting out. In January or February, I placed another call. They came out and I had to pay $445 for a compressor that apparently was not covered and some other reasons that the lady clearly explained to me. I'm still in disagreement that I had to pay the $445. A week later, on a Thursday, the unit again had an issue. They showed up Monday and said it needed a coil. They said it was going to cost me $900 to replace that part which is not covered.
They're very nice but I have to wait 40 minutes to get a real person each time I call American Home Shield. You call the regular line and and it asks you for your zip code. You put in your zip code then it says it's an invalid zip code. When I have 40 minutes to get a real person who sounds like he’s in the Philippines to give me a blah, blah, blah response, I’ll pass on that ‘cause that’s a waste of time. I had American Home Shield for a year when I bought the house and I switched to monthly to extend it but I'm seriously looking at other alternatives.

We just moved here and American Home Shield sent somebody who changed the locks for us. It was super easy to get the claim going. I called their customer service team to make a schedule. They were very helpful. The technician went above and beyond. He was here for three hours because whoever had done it before did it wrong. So, he had put all the new pins in. It was kind of a mess.

Our refrigerator door fell off, and the tech fixed that. Then, our microwave was making this noise. It turned out it was a valve that needed to be replaced. Then our dishwasher wasn't draining right and it was draining into another sink. The tech fixed that as well. He was very timely and courteous. He was friendly too and he did a good job. Everything’s great now. Everything went very smoothly with American Home Shield. I really appreciate the coverage that we have because it saved us money in the long run.

If I call, AHS shouldn’t have to take a whole six hours to figure out who's 24 hours. I'm sure they have a lot of different vendors and they service the whole US, but they should know their area. I had a main line flood that was pouring sewage onto my front lawn and they had no idea who was 24 hours on their vendor list. They wanted me to wait two days. I ended up having to rent tools and doing it myself. But the most recent claim I filed went okay. I had a blockage in my restroom and it was another two days, but it was fine because it wasn't a major deal. Also, the vendor that was sent out was really good.

My dryer claim went well. I just went online, put down the repair that I needed and waited a day. I didn't hear from the repair guy and then I contacted him the next day in the morning. At that time, he said that he was just ready to make phone calls and I was next on the list. It worked out fine. He came that afternoon, so it was right away. The guy inspected my dryer, found that it needed a belt, and then he had to order the parts. He was here within five days after that. He fixed it, and he was on his way. He was clean and did a beautiful job. I'm happy with it so far.

The heater quit from my unit during all the storms. American Home Shield got right on it and I ended up calling the guy. They got on it pretty quickly. He was very knowledgeable of stuff. My house has three breakers on it I didn't know about. He checked everything on it and found the problem. It was my own fault. Nonetheless, it got fixed. The only thing, it was about a week before he could get to it. I called on a Monday and he said he'd be there Sunday. We live in Stillwater and so the ones that I’ve had come out before are from bigger cities like Oklahoma City or Tulsa. I’d like to get on it a little quicker than that, although I figured he was probably busy. The service has been good and the people have been knowledgeable and very easy to work with. They look trustworthy so we take them at their word.

I called CenterPoint and they reviewed the problem and then, American Home Shield sent two different electric companies to check the problem. Both sent me the estimate and they said different things. AHS haven’t approved to fix the electrical problem so I called another contractor on my own and I will make some professional estimate and I will record everything. AHS doesn’t have the right contractors. They look very professional and helpful but the people they send are lazy. I explained the problem in my house and I showed this person some videos I got with the problem and they checked the basic things. They assumed things but did not say what the problem was.

We've had American Home Shield for four different properties for the last 15 years. Sometimes, they have some wackadoodle contractors that they don't control. The warranty company is great unless you have an air conditioner problem. When their contractor Family AC Service Solutions suggested that my AC unit be replaced, they didn't want to do that. Other than the AC unit, I've had stuff replaced by them.

The contractor was dispatched because of a problem that we were having with our heating. We thought the unit was damaged. The guy came out, took a look at it, and determined that it wasn't the actual heater. He said that if it was related to the ducts, we had to put in another request for it. Which was a little bit of an annoyance, but I can understand. It probably gets billed a different way. But I was a little disappointed that they couldn't have taken care of it on the same order. So we wound up having to pay twice for two visits that turned out to be something related to the ducts.
I usually call in and submit my claims since it's easier for me that way. I know that we were able to do them online but I have questions sometimes. American Home Shield explained the policy to me and I understand that. But it seems really wasteful and a little expensive. I had to pay 79 bucks the first time the guy came out and he basically did nothing. Then the second time he came out, he screwed around with vents and the ducks. Apparently, that was what the issue was. I'm a little confused because I don't know how it can be the ducts because the unit itself kept shutting off. But the guy fixed it. So the end result was we got it taken care of.
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with American Home Shield. I've never used a home warranty before. But the people at American Home Shield have been really helpful. They've explained the limitations of coverage. They've explained to me what I needed to do. They were the ones who discovered the problem with the previous homeowner not doing the coverage, which was nice. If I hadn't been aware of it, we could have gotten past the 60 days that we could add to the coverage. The previous homeowner bought the cheapest home warranty and it didn't include the appliances. So I had to call back and I made the extra payment to cover pretty much everything that we could.
We’re satisfied with the coverage so we're going to be extending it when it comes up for renewal in November. American Home Shield did tell me that they had a change to the roofing clause. Apparently, that's going to be offered again but in a different manner. So I'm looking to get that added to the coverage just to be safe. It's really comparatively cheap to what we would have to do otherwise. They told me to wait until that whole system gets implemented because they're in the process of change right now. Then once it does, I can request the roof coverage as a separate option.

I was looking around and comparing different companies. I’ve seen really good reviews for American Home Shield on Google, so I decided to reach out. The very first woman that I spoke with was so helpful and knowledgeable. It really built my confidence in the company and made me want to go ahead and get signed up with them. One time, I had one little thing happen with the electrician that I put in for. But every time that I had to call, AHS, they completely understood my concern and was eager to help me.

I called for a dishwasher issue because the dishwasher wasn't draining. A tech came out and found that he needed to put a new motor in the dishwasher. Once he did that, he tried starting up the dishwasher and found out that the knockout valve of our garbage disposal, which we had installed three weeks ago, was not knocked out so the water was backing up into the tube. This was what caused the backup in the dishwasher and the motor to burn out.
The tech said it was an easy fix and that he could knock it out right there. But American Home Shield didn't want him to do that because it was a different appliance than the dishwasher. That was odd. I had to call back again and make another claim for the garbage disposal. A second tech came, grabbed a screwdriver, hit the knockout valve with a wrench, and it popped out. American Home Shield couldn't let the first guy do that but they went ahead and charged me another $100 to have somebody else come out and do it. I was a little perturbed about that. Other than that, both techs were extremely knowledgeable.

The microwave wouldn't work. It went blank all of a sudden and there was no light. The contractor called me two days after the weekend was over. Then they came and looked at it and determined that it needed a new door. They ordered the new door. The door came in but it was wrong, so the tech tried to wire up something and then for a minute, it was working and then it stopped working. I haven't heard back from them yet. I email them every other day because this is such a big headache for me and then they email me back saying they're working on it.
The issue isn't resolved, but I like the tech. When he came with the part, I was here watching him the whole time and he showed me everything. So they're good people. They're not pushing me around and they actually are working on it. I just don't have a solution yet for my problem. The speed in which American Home Shield responds to the inquiries from the contractor or the customer should be handled a little bit faster.

You submit stuff online, then the company that is assigned contacts you within 24 hours or less, usually less. That's one of the main reasons we got this warranty program when we bought our house. And even though it might be more expensive than the programs you can get through your electric company, they cover way more. It's worth the cost. It's so easy and streamlined. It has been wonderful.
Recently, we would put in a load and the dryer would work. But if we had back-to-back loads, as soon as we put in a new one, the dryer would not start. And it would take at least an hour or two hours for it to start again. The technician discovered that it was a motor issue, so he replaced the motor. Ever since then, it works fine. It just has some squeaking, which the guy thought would hopefully go away because it was a new motor, but it hasn't. I have been meaning to check on my claim to see if it was 30 days old or not for the warranty period. Otherwise, I was planning to submit a new claim, that even though it was replaced and everything is working great, it’s just this horrible squeaking sound that you can hear throughout the house. But it works. That's what I care about. Especially now with COVID, it has to work.
The tech was wonderful. He has been here before because we previously had a claim. It was a year before that that we had a claim where the washer wouldn't do anything. It would turn on, but it wasn't turning, so he had to replace a belt. Sometimes, with the claims I've made, there have been new companies. But it was the same company and that was wonderful that it was the same company and the same people. They had our history. They knew what they had already replaced before, and what they might need to do.
I have always been happy with our American Home Shield coverage. Even if my husband might complain about my cost, I tell him all the costs make it worth it. We had to just pay that $100 deductible. We got a brand new washer because it was beyond repair. And that would normally be a few $1,000 that we didn't have at the time. But we had $100. I told my husband it’s better to slowly pay for these things because you never know when something’s gonna happen.

The tech who came out talked to me every step of the way of what he was doing, went out of his way and ran back to Lowe's or Home Depot to get parts and everything I needed to make sure the vent and the fan and everything with the stove went great. So far, on the dishwasher, he explained what all the parts were. I've never seen something that's this old that still works, but he did really good. Doing the claim to American Home Shield was easy. I just called them and they put everything together for me. It's the first time I'm having a warranty company, so it's just my first time experience and so far, it was really easy.

I did an appointment online for a repair and the technician came, did his evaluation and then the next week, Tuesday, he fixed it. The only thing is that it took very long before we got in touch with him. He said he called me. I checked my records, but I didn't see his missed call. He kept insisting, but that was no big deal. I had to call and insist before getting in touch with him. Other than that, the fridge is working now. We no more have leaking.
When we bought the house, I created an American Home Shield account on the website. I have my information there, the information. We received a message saying that the agent who connected us to AHS took care of connecting the house registration. The first year was paid, then after the first year, we started paying monthly. Almost all the services have been great. American Home Shield works with contractors, and sometimes, the technicians or the way they react might be an issue. I had two experiences that didn't go well and they didn't know how to follow up until we had to hire another person to come and fix the issue. We called and they did the evaluation for the AC that was broken. That was in the middle of the summer, and then the temperature was going up and we have two kids in the house. Nobody was calling us. After six weeks, I was like, "How can a technician come?"
When I called, the lady asked me if I have money to pay for the material that is to be changed. I said, "What?" She said, "I know you don't have $2,000 to pay for it." I said, "Do you know who I am? How can you judge? You don't even know me. How can you estimate that I can't pay for a service?" I was asking, “Why do you have to pay $2,000 to change something in the AC?” I was so frustrated. I told her, “That's not right. You can't tell me that you know that I don't have $2,000. You don't even know me. You don't know what I'm doing. So how can you judge me based on that?” I have never seen that contractor since today and his material is still out here in our house. The technician we called came and broke the seal. The man sealed it so that nobody else can come and work.
With that one, I got mad. I told that lady that they should remove the, “We care,” on the website because that shows that there's no care. They're only interested with money. We called another technician, and it is fixed. We continued with AHS because other services were so good and I said that, "This is probably an issue with the technician, not American Home Shield." I didn't consider it as a big problem.
I was really mad at them that they couldn't send four weeks. I had to call and ask why the technician wouldn’t come and after four weeks, there was no feedback. That was when the lady said there was $2,000 to buy one material, and she was asking me to pay on the phone while I was talking with her. I said, "You can't ask me to pay you $2,000 from my phone, I don't even know who you are." She said, "No, call American Home Shield. Ask them." I called and I did it. I paid for the services, took all the pictures and sent it back to them. For the service, they were asking us $2,500. We did it at $700. That is almost three times the amount of money they were trying to squander from my pocket. I had the money to pay, but I noticed that there was something wrong.
Everything has been going so well apart from that. People just need to know that things are happening the right way. For me, the right way was that I don't deal with technicians. I can call AHS, pay online $75 to book the service, and if the technician comes into my house and say, "Hey, you need to give me out of your pocket $500 for me to go and buy this material for me," that's not the right way because the policy says that we have nothing to disburse from our pocket directly with technicians. We have nothing to discuss concerning money.

I had two leaks, one was a small and the other one was a very large problem. It was causing flooding in my basement and causing secondary damage. I jumped on the website of AHS and filed the claim. The next day, B-N-K called me and set up the appointment. They were out there a day or so later and took care of everything. It was really easy and I was super happy.

American Home Shield's service is far superior to the other ones. The other service does not include a tune-up or a checkup on the air conditioner. Although American Home Shield charges for that, it's a very small amount of money. Then they just tell you to let it go till it burns out. They are right on top of the maintenance, so it saves both of us money. The tech who did the service checkup for us was in and out and got the job done.

45 days ago, I requested service because one of the faucets was making a noise. The technician came, he looked it up and it was fine. Then a month later, the same problem returned, so I called back but it wasn't under the warranty at that time, so I had to pay again. I wasn't happy because I had to pay twice for the same service, which didn't make any sense. But the second technician worked on it. Right now, it's working fine. He was very professional. He educated me about it. He told me that if the problem persists, just call back, buy the part and they will come and replace it for me at no cost.

It was time for my air conditioner's checkup and the technician found the coil inside was dirty. He even took a picture and showed it to me. He told me to make sure to check my filters once a month and pour back Clorox into the little tubing when I do the filter change. He was very professional and he did his job well.

Sometimes, when submitting claims, it seems like it takes a while for AHS to get back to us, but it's just because we're in a situation where we need something done and need to hear something quick and it doesn't work that way. We make a phone call and we want to hear back in less than five minutes, and that's never gonna happen. I hope it could be improved. But then having it has been cost-effective so far and it saves me from guessing on who to have come out and fix things and not having it done right and that kind of stuff. With my recent claim, the guy that came out for the furnace was thorough and made sure the problem was fixed. Evidently, it wasn't what we thought it was. It was actually the air conditioning that was causing the problem. It had come on once.

The first time I used AHS, it took a little longer than I would have liked. It was one service request with two items. It was my washer and then my icemaker wasn't working, and the refrigerator. The technicians came from Burlington, which is an hour away. It was a long way for them to come. They looked at the washer, ordered some parts, looked at the ice maker and made a plan. Then the problem became the parts for the washer weren't available, so we had a lot of phone calls and a lot of head-scratching to figure it all out.
In the end, they couldn't get the parts and replaced my washer, but it was three months later. Then my icemaker never got fixed and I just never brought it back up because I got a new washer, which made me happy. A lot of times, when I would call, the information wasn't readily available, of where my case was, to the person on the phone. There were things that they could see that was being done, but they couldn't see what it was. It was just a lot of confusion explaining where we were at and how long it had been.
But recently, my claim with AHS went super fast and it worked out really great. My air conditioner had quit working. I called them and they dispatched a company. That service company called me the same day and just so happened to have an open slot. A guy came out the same day and was just coming to diagnose it, but was able to determine that it was just the capacitor that was in there that needed to be replaced, and replaced it on the spot. The guy that came out was very professional, friendly and fast. However, he tried to sell me on a service that American Home Shield offers. He said, “We offer this service where we come and check your heating in the fall and then again your air conditioner in the spring.” I didn't say anything because I know American Home Shield just started doing that.

A dishwasher door usually gently comes down. It doesn't fall down, but the spring in the door of our dishwasher broke, so it wouldn't hold the door gently when it came down. It was falling down. I also had an intermittent stove where the front and back burners didn't want to turn on sometimes and sometimes, they would. The repair man put on new controller springs on the dishwasher door and replaced the touchpad on the stove. Now, they're working great. This man was absolutely fantastic. First of all, he was there as we got a call or a text an hour after we put it through Home Shield, setting up a time to come over. Then, when he got there, he troubleshot the units and ordered the parts. When one of the parts came in, it looked bad to him, so we reordered it. He said, “I’m not gonna put trash into your appliances.”
Three days later, we got the correct part. The repair man set it up immediately as soon as he got it. He came over, fixed it, and tried it. He leveled the stove and the dishwasher, thanked my wife, and off he went. First time we've had to use American Home Shield since we got on with them last summer, and I highly recommend. I've already been speaking highly of them around work. I knew there was a reason why we went with them the second time around instead of one of their competitors. Also, if you talk to the technicians around Cheyenne, very few of them, if any, will work for a competitor. All of them like working for American Home Shield, so that's a big plus.

I had a leak and it was a weekend. There are people who don’t go out until during the week, which I get, but other than that, I had no issues. I'm in Pennsylvania right now taking care of my parents but my daughter was there. I talked to the plumber on the phone and he was very nice. AHS responds and sends people.

It would be nice if there were an option for emergency service and online scheduling for some of the vendors. For example, our ice maker is broken. I don't care if it takes two or three weeks. But when the water is running, and we can't figure out how to get it turned off in the house, it would be nice if we could mark that one as emergency, need service ASAP for a house flood. With my recent claim, the water valve in the upstairs bathtub was broken, so the water wouldn't turn off. The guy that came was really good. Overall, AHS has been helpful but sometimes seems unfair.

My dryer wasn't heating and my dishwasher wasn't draining. Matt, the tech, looked at both of them. Both needed parts so he ordered them. He came out the next week and put it in and they both work great now. I haven't had any more problems with them. He was in and out in less than 30 minutes both times.

One of the three units on our house would sometimes kick on, sometimes it wouldn't. And if I touched the thermostat, it went all haywire and wacky. We initially tried to call to do the deal. But calling was almost impossible because I couldn’t get through. Maybe everybody was calling at one time. So, going online was much easier. American Home Shield said that we would hear from the contractor within 24 hours, and we did. And then I scheduled it. It was three days later before they got out. But they came out early. They were there when they said they would be and I was able to be at work by 9 o'clock. They replaced the thermostat and it works perfectly. It's now a lot less frustration trying to get the unit to work. I would recommend AHS.

As far as the contractor coming out when they said they would, that was good. But it took three attempts before they got the job right. They came out and didn’t have the part so I had to order the part. That was another 60 bucks out of my pocket. When I got the part, I called them up and they came back and reinstalled it. After they installed the part, they didn't test it. The water was coming out so scalding hot I couldn't take a shower. I called them back, scheduled another visit with AHS and had them come out. They came out and said the valve was reversed so they fixed that. They were heading out the door again and I told them the new shower thing was starting to leak again. The guy came back in. He said there was some junk in the valve.
Finally, they got it right but I shouldn't have to go through all that. They should get it right the first time. I had also called up for a pool pump that went out and AHS said they don't cover that. That was another 1,300 out of my pocket that I wasn't expecting. They should be more clear about what they cover and what they don't ‘cause from the TV ads, it would seem like they cover everything. I'm dropping the service.

When I owned a home or anywhere we lived, we always had American Home Shield. We've been with them for a long time and we've been very happy throughout the years. They've been good to us. I called them for a hose that was leaking water and they set up a claim for me. The technician ordered a hose and came back out to replace the one that was leaking. He did a great job. Everything was good.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a leaking kitchen sink and no hot water in the master bathroom. It took the company a while to come. But it was worth it, because they did the job and were very professional. And everything is fine. That technician was the best one I've had. It was a year ago when I did something else, and it wasn't a pleasant experience. When some of the companies AHS work with come, they would say, “Oh, this isn’t something they should cover.” And they want me to hire them. But I called ahead of time and told AHS that I didn't want a certain company that they used to come, so they sent these people. They're 100%. If I could give them 200%, I would. I referred my stepdaughter to AHS, so she will get a policy.

Calling American Home Shield is a lot easier than going online. I wouldn't ever know if it went through or not. I've had issues with trying to order an appliance in the email. It's easier to just call and know that you have a confirmation number, you spoke with a living person. They gave me the name of the contractor. And then the contractor called to schedule the appointment and told me who was coming, which was the same gentleman that came out and fixed the other plumbing issue. But no one told them why they were coming. They had no idea of what my issue was when they arrived for either claim. AHS did not tell them what the issues were and I found that interesting.
I had to go through the scenario that I explained everything to the customer service person that took my initial call. A leak, two water stains in the garage. They knew that this is a water leak issue. But those gentlemen had no idea that there was a leak and where it was. They just, “We hear there's a plumbing issue. Tell us where the issue is and show us.” And that was twice.
The first gentlemen that came, one knew more than the other one. The other was a trainee. That was the same gentleman that came back, the one that knew more. The other one, when you’re trying to show a person how to do a job and they make a mess and they leave it, I wasn't happy with that. He had water all over the bathroom floor. I had to give him a towel. It was all wet and he just left it on the floor. I'm not going to wash it. I don’t want it if it's toilet water. But he didn’t clean it up.
When he came back this time, the gentleman that knew more, did a great job. He was very professional. He took care of what he thought it was. And he told me what to watch for, what he thought it was, what he foresees the issue to be, and that if the stain got larger, it would indicate that there was something else going on. He noticed some other issues and said, “If you see this happening, here's a contractor who could probably take care of that.” Instead of having to have a whole new shower put in, because that is not something that AHS covers.
And when I had the other issue, on my contract, it said, “Hose bib covered.” But AHS didn't cover it. That cost me $300 out of my pocket. I wasn't happy about that. I paid them 100. And then because the leak was a hose that went through my kitchen wall to outside, because it was outside, they said they didn't cover it. When you say something is covered, there is some fine print somewhere that is not in the contract.

I had no heat coming from my water heater. The techs came out and they changed the two elements and the thermostat, and now it works wonderful. They were very nice, very polite and very helpful. Sometimes, it's hard to get online and do a claim to American Home Shield, and you can never get ahold of them verbally. I had AHS when I lived in Arizona, and now in Florida. I wouldn't change them. Their prices are great. And other than sometimes, it's hard to get ahold of them, I have no complaints.

I called AHS up and told them that there was an issue with the microwave. I would put food in it, shut the door, put in the time, hit start and it would say, "Close the door." It wouldn't start because it thought the door was open. The tech who came was fantastic. He got the microwave working in a very timely manner. I called Wednesday and he was out Friday. He explained what happened and why it happened. He did some education with me and told me how to make sure that it didn't happen again. He was saying you cannot open the door before it's done cooking. You have to wait until it does all four beats or if your food starts popping inside, you have to hit stop or cancel.
I do wish AHS covered a few more things such as the sprinkler and the pool system. But of the things that they cover, they do a good job. Probably a year and a half ago I would tell everybody not to do it because they don't want to cover anything. But I've had some issues in my house and they've covered things beautifully. I completely changed my opinion. I would now say yes it's a good thing to do.

It’s amazing that we have American Home Shield. The website is perfect and I love it. I'm glad they have it. Some people like the warranty, while some people don't, but I would tell people they should try to work with it. First, the fan on my AC wouldn't spin and then there was no heat. Something was wrong with the switch. The repair man fixed it and he turned it on again.

The air conditioner wouldn't work, and it wasn’t cooling. I let American Home Shield know about it through their website. It said, “Within 24 hours, you'll be contacted.” It said if I don’t hear from the contractor within 24 hours, I can go ahead and call them. Then it gave me the number to call. I just went ahead and called them. The guy who came has been here before, so I am familiar with him. I was very happy with what they did.

The tech was on time and professional. He wore a mask even though I was not too worried about that. I'm supposed to hear back from American Home Shield any day if they're going to be able to fix the oven. Or else, I'm going to get a new one. The technician said that if I don't hear back from AHS today, I should give them a call and see what they're going to do. So far, everything is going good. I would recommend AHS and I've been very happy.

The sensor which is the LED light made to tell you if the stove is too hot was going bad. We had a few problems trying to figure out if it was the sensor but the contractor finally figured it out after two times of trying. They came through and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. I like American Home Shield very much. I put a claim out, I get a response fast and everything gets handled accordingly.

I'm pleased with the service so far. I had it for repairs and it’s all been well. I called in when my hot water was leaking and the water wouldn’t stop running. The repair people came in and they checked it out. They were professional. When they got the part that they needed, they came back and they, in turn, put the part in. I'm pleased with the work that had been done and as of now, it's still working okay.

Our recent issue was a continuation of the same claim. The requirement was that I contact American Home Shield and ask for a revisit on the same problem. And that’s what I did. We had a problem with our sump pump. The contractor replaced the sump pump. After they left, it started spraying. I don't know what he had to do to keep that from happening. But why did we have another $75 copay on our bill this past month? I called the office first because I'm still not sure what their protocol is on things. They couldn't get to it right away. Was there a way for us to block off the water that was spraying out onto the carpet? We found a way to redirect the water back in the area of the sump pump, but it was still spraying out in one of the connections.
I was very impressed with the contractor. But we had a terrible experience with the first person AHS assigned to us. The person came and walked the job because I asked him what his background and credentials were. That question was the result of having had a day or two to look at their reviews on Yelp. They have terrible reviews on there. It was not inappropriate to be sure that this young-looking person was qualified to handle this particular job. He called his boss. I got accused by the owner of a company of being a racist because I asked about the young man's background.
He said I was questioning him because he was a Spanish-speaking American, Mexican-American, and I said it had nothing to do with it. I asked him what his background training was. He told me that he had been a member of a union for so many years. That doesn't make him qualified. That just means you pay union dues. The owner of the company told me that I had no right to question anything about his company. That the only person he had to have satisfied with his credentials was AHS. I resented that they walked the job based on misinformation that was given to his boss. It was a very busy time of the year and they said upfront they had a very busy schedule. So, they just didn't book me. They turned it back over to AHS.
The owner of the company told me that it was my job to call AHS. I said, “You're the one that let your person walk the job. You need to find someone else to come and do the work since you don't think he will come back.” And he said, “We're just too busy. We have important plans to take care of. We just don't have time to mess with this.” I said, “Then call American Home Shield and tell them that you don't have time. Don't tell me to call and do that.” But I did not call AHS on it because I just needed to get my problem solved.
AHS, overall, is only as good as the people they send to your door. I was told that the first person only does business with AHS because it fills in their slow days. That's not good enough for me. Depending on the problem. I may not get same-day attention. A sump pump is important to me. So, when they walked the job on a Friday afternoon with rain like crazy coming in for the weekend, and my sump pump is not functioning right, I'm not happy about that.
Also, AHS is billing me on a house that someone else has owned since November 1st. The letter was to inform them that we had just received a closing date on our property in Atlanta, Georgia, and would they please not bill us after November 1. And we have been billed November, December, January, February, March. And I'm scared to death that we're going to get another bill in April. And they said that the letter was not scanned in. I have no way of knowing that. And they said I have no way of proving it. I have proof that I sent the letter.
I spoke to someone and said that they are not obligated to refund my money over the last few months. They told me that a month ago. So, all these things were happening at the same time. And the frustrating part is the customer service side of AHS. You can deal with a vendor who is rude, inappropriate, or incompetent. But she said that I would not get my money back because it was not scanned into the system. I can accept that it was a mistake and didn't get scanned in, or it got misdirected. But American Express or any of those credit card companies were not going to stand for people being billed for stuff and it reflects back.

Our hot water heater was leaking and the pilot light repeatedly went out. A2Z determined that it was too old to fix the problem. They put in an order to replace it and that was approved by AHS. Getting the replacement took a couple of days. They put the order on Wednesday and it was here by Monday. The only complaint that I have is that we've had a series of problems with this particular water heater since we moved in. I had to pay $100 for them to come out and fix the problem initially. Then, during the follow-up, I had to pay another $100 for them to come out. If it's the same problem, I don't feel like I should have to pay several times for them to come out again. Other than that, I've been pleased. We had a garage issue, too, that a contractor came out for and fixed. That was helpful. It's nice to know that we have the warranty to rely on since this house is really old.

I had a leak coming from my ceiling. CKC Plumbing called me to confirm an appointment. On their way, I got a text message saying they’re coming. They came in and spoke to my kids. The piping wasn’t glued, it was just pushed in. They just added glue to it. It was coming from my kitchen sink, but it was leaking inside my basement. The repair really helped because my basement doesn't stink. It was from the water dripping, the mildew smell. I would definitely recommend AHS because it's fast, easy, quick service, and straight to the point. So far, everyone I met has been very nice.

Within a business day or two, a technician came out for my claim. They found some issues that needed repair. The tech sent his photos to me so that I could put in another request to have those issues repaired. I've also had multiple claims for heating and plumbing and so far, everything has gone well.

Comfort Temp did a great job addressing my claim. They came right out, inspected the furnace, told me the issue that I was having, were able to get the part for me the next day, came out that morning and got my service back up and running fast. I've just been with American Home Shield for about four months and when I had an issue, I called them up, they responded really quickly and gave me a number to call for a service. For my first time using them, everything was great to me.

We got two sinks in our master bedroom in the restroom. When I use the first one, it clogs up a little bit. The plumbing company got the job done and everything was great. The claim submission was really easy and then, American Home Shield got back to me really fast. So, I'm happy with the process.

In the past, American Home Shield has been good. Anytime we would call them for anything, they get a solution for it. They tried to fix the issue. This time, the ice maker on my refrigerator is not working. I called American Home Shield and a guy came and said it’s a factory problem. They cannot do anything about it and I don’t know what they want me to do. I’m paying for this insurance, but it’s a factory problem.

Originally, American Home Shield was provided as a one-year warranty when I purchased the house and then we just continued it. One time, we had water on the floor around the water heater, so we had that fixed. We got the information in on the website. The website said that somebody would call within 24 hours, and then the contractor called us the next morning. The only complaint we had was that the technician didn't wear a mask. Other than that, he said it was just condensation and there wasn't anything wrong with the tank.

When my lights were flickering and we were smelling like a burning, I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The only complaint I have is their people read from a script. What would normally take five minutes to do takes 20 because they're busy reading the whole script. It's agonizing to sit there and listen to them read off a script. On the other hand, the contractor was excellent. I called them directly immediately once I got the email.
With that type of an emergency, I didn't wait for someone to call me. The guy said he'd have to look at his emails 'cause he hadn't even checked yet. He got it and he came out that night. He saw part of the issue and he said, "Unfortunately, this isn't going to correct your problem. But because of the warranty, they're going to make me do this step first and then I'll have to come back out and do the second step." In the end, the contractor was able to repair it.

Honesty Mechanical was awesome. For the AC check-up, the guy who came out and did the service, Jamie, was there first thing in the morning. He was thorough and worked really well. He was fast and on time. AHS explained a lot to me but there are certain things that I wasn't aware about 'cause I haven't had to do certain repairs over time. I just have realized how much certain costs had gone up but I maintain it and I'll continue to pay my monthly dues. The biggest thing is you can customize your plan. That's what I like about it. I pay for whatever's the most expensive plan that they have mainly because I like to be overinsured.

The day we got the keys to our new house, we went and the refrigerator wasn't working. AHS let me know they were contacting someone and I got an email saying it would be Sears. Sears let me know the day and the time of the appointment. They called me when they were on their way. The tech was on time and he knew within a very short time what the issues were and that they couldn't be fixed. He contacted American Home Shield as soon as he decided that it would cost more to fix the refrigerator than to get a new one.
I've had to contact AHS a few times to find out what was going on. They finally sent me an email and I let them know that I wanted to get an e-Card from Lowe's. Now, I'm waiting for Lowe's to send me that e-Card. Other than that, things have been good. I'm very satisfied with my experience. I recommend AHS. They've done a great job so far.

This most recent service call I placed was for a tune-up for my air conditioning and Family Heating & Air seemed to have done a good job. They arrived when they were supposed to and seemed to have done everything they were supposed to. But later in the day, I discovered my air conditioning wasn't working so I called Family Heating & Air and they said I had to make another appointment through American Home Shield. I said, "You don't understand. Y'all screwed up something with my air conditioning and I'm gonna have to wait how many days to get another appointment?" They said that was the way to do it so I hung up the telephone and placed another service call with American Home Shield.
My son-in-law came over and asked if I looked at my outside units. We went out and looked and the breaker box for the outside unit was turned off. The cover on it was left uncovered lying on the ground. We turned the breaker back on, put the cover back on the box and the air conditioning started working again. If that man had done his job properly, he would have looked to make sure everything was done. I don't fault Family Heating & Air for making the mistake. What I do fault them for is not correcting that mistake in a timely way.

American Home Shield has been able to do everything that I've wanted them to do over the years. I've had them for quite a while. They're a little expensive, but they've been great to work with. I made an appointment to have my air and heat system and it was very easy to do. The tech came out and there were no issues and he left.

The other part of the AC burned out because it was trying to run on its own, which it wasn't designed to do. Southern Comfort HVAC replaced that and it seems to be okay so far. AHS takes care of more things than everybody else does and the payments that I make every month are reasonable.

We have a rental house in Cleveland and the central heat and air was not working. I submitted the claim and American Home Shield sent the phone number of the company that would do it. The next day, the company called and they ended up coming out that day. Great company. My daughter-in-law was there and said the tech was professional and nice. He got there when he said he would. He let her know what the problem was, went out there, filled it up, came back, tested it, and then she said he made sure to let her know that the job was finished. We were very lucky. It just ended up having to be Freon. So, less than an hour, he was there, fixed it, gone. We've had AHS on our rental and private home for several years and I've always been pleased.

The control panel went out. When the contractor came out, they had the part and it was broken. Then they got a new part but it came in broken. They checked it, got a new part, and came out. Now, it's up and running. If I have an issue, I call American Home Shield and it gets fixed.
