I had a faulty water heater and I called that in. The process was better years ago when I could actually speak to a person. I don't like dealing with a computer. After that, someone calls you up and Home Shield have someone to fix the problem. For my claim, it was Royal Plumbing. A plumber got out here and he was a young kid. He got to the bottom of things and I worked with them. I'm glad I was there because I had to get the manufacturer of the water heater to answer questions that the plumber wasn't pushy enough to get. They would only give him half the answer. I told the plumber to ask the manufacturer, "How do you do this? How do you test this, and then, what should the results be?" He had to regurgitate that. We figured out that the problem came down to the water heater being the wrong unit.
Royal Plumbing did everything okay and gave the information back to Home Shield. It was up to Home Shield to approve whatever had to happen with the water heater, either repair it or replace it. Home Shield denied my claim saying that this case was a pre-existing problem prior to me signing up for the home warranty two months ago. If that's their opinion, I don't wanna waste time trying to fight because they're gonna stick by their opinion which is just as valid as mine. My rationale is if the water heater is not working correctly then now I'm using my warranty.
American Home Shield put in the email that the people that are assigned to the claim keep things up to code and they hope that everything will work. They were supposed to tell me that they denied the claim but they didn't. I heard about it by having to call back the plumbing company. What happened was I received a bill from Royal Plumbing. They said Home Shield denied the claim and the bill was showing what it would cost me if I wanted Royal Plumbing to do the job. Professionalism was thrown right out the door. I had Home Shield before and I was never declined a work order so this was new. I'm not too happy about this. If I had my way, I would get my 500 bucks back that I paid Home Shield to have this policy. Now, I have to take another route to get this water heater repaired.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I called and submitted my claim through American Home Shield and Superior Heating and Air was recommended, so I've requested for them. Then, I received a call from Superior Heating and Air to set up my appointment. We've gotten a technician out here fairly quickly, and the service was great. Our unit was taken care of in a very quick manner. We’re pretty satisfied with our contract with AHS.

The guy that was sent for my toilet had to come back out, but he did do an excellent job. He was a great person. He did an excellent service, and he was excellent on being on time. He was professional. American Home Shield is a good company and you save money by going that route by having them. It's just that when I made a phone call, I never got a response. I had to call back twice before I got a response but once I got someone, it was great.

This time, submitting the clam is simple. But when I couldn’t understand what the lady was explaining to me, it’s difficult. There’s a lot of language barriers. I had plug ends that were bad. The contractor came in and fixed them all. The one who was here prior to them told me they needed to get ahold of their boss to come out and get the wire fixed. Never heard anything back. A couple of months went, I ended up forgetting about it. I went downstairs because we just had our child, and I was like, “**. That still hasn't got fixed yet.” That guy that came out with the Best Heating and Cooling, the people American Home Shield sent out, fixed it. He didn’t wait any time trying to call everybody. He had enough experience. He did it himself.
The warranty has helped me out a lot in certain aspects, like with electrical. I'm a firm believer in warranties because you never know at the end of the day what you can be dealt. There is one thing I wish AHS would change though. I had a bad faucet and they went, "Well, it's not covered." I wish I would have known that before I got deeper into it and called them. I’m paying them a premium a month. It would be nice if everything was included.

I have a new air conditioning unit put in and it's working fantastically. The technician explained everything and he was kind, courteous, and professional. The service took around four hours from start to finish ‘cause he had to do some soldering inside. It has already been 90 degrees in the house for almost two weeks but it's nice and cool inside now with the new air conditioning unit. I've had American Home Shield for four years since I've had the house and they've been pretty good with me. You call and tell them whatever the problem is and then they assign a contractor. They come out, check it out and fix it.
I am happy to hear that we were able to resolve your claim. Thanks for sharing your AHS experience. Please let us know if you need assistance in regards to your warranty.

Bay Appliances came to do my service on my dishwasher. They came for a couple of services. The tech was a nice young guy. He was very thorough and informational. Everything was good. Home Shield is an all right company. It seems to be quicker and easier for me to do a claim over the phone because I don't have a computer. Things are different now so I'm adjusting to it. For example, it took a month to get my service done. That didn't have anything to do with Home Shield. It's just the way it is. The process is just longer now and that's the only thing that's bad.

I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim by phone. It was very difficult. It was time-consuming waiting and holding. They sent me this thing and said that my contractor had been assigned and that contractor would contact me. But days and days went by, the contractor didn't call me. So I called the contractor and they said that as soon as American Home Shield had contacted them, that they had sent back to American Home Shield that they did not service Carteret County anymore.
I called American Home Shield back and they didn't seem to be too concerned about that at all. By then, it's been a couple of weeks. Then they said they would get somebody else. The rep said she had found somebody else in Denver, Colorado. I said, "Ma'am, I do not think anybody is going to drive from Denver, Colorado to North Carolina to look at my garage doors." She said, "Let me find." Then she came back and said, "Yes. I guess they have two offices. They said they would do it."
They sent me an email and said somebody was gonna be here. This delightful young man came out. He got it so that I can at least open and close the garage door. 'Cause for a year, I hadn't been able to open and close the garage door except manually by pulling them up and I'm just too old to be doing that. But he's got them so I can work them from indoors and that's all right 'cause I don't put a car in there anyway because everything else is in there.
I've had AHS for over 20 years and I'm going to cancel because it's just not cost-efficient anymore. Over the years, I paid them over $10,000 and I haven't had $3,000 in claims. What I'm going to do is just put the same amount of money I gave them into an account every month and that'll be my repair fund. 'Cause it's so difficult to ever get somebody that you can actually talk to and file the claim with.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We do apologize that your experience and service requests over the years has caused you to cancel your warranty. Your feedback is important and we look forward to your possible joining the AHS team in the future. Have a great day!

I had an AC problem and everything on the part of the tech was above average. He was excellent in his explanations of what he did for me and how he did it. He even told me how to fix another problem that I had. So, he was very thorough, professional, and very neat. But I find it difficult to submit a claim with AHS in a lot of issues. Before the AC guy came, I had another plumber come out. I have three bathrooms and if I call more than once about them, AHS would not combine them into one issue. I have to call three times to get three different things fixed, so that's a pain in the butt.
Also, I called yesterday because I have a leak and this plumber hasn't called me. It's been over 24 hours. All in all, I'm in a new house and the home warranty came with this house, but if I had chose a home warranty, I more than likely would not have chosen American Home Shield because they don't cover the necessities of a new homeowner.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

We had AC tune-ups scheduled. One company turned up to do the inspection and the tune-up. They highlighted a few issues with the system that needed to be followed up. Another request had to be placed for somebody to come out. It turned out it was The Montz Company who came out and they had no previous information about what was wrong or what needed to be done. Fortunately, the gentleman from AHS left a note on a piece of paper so I knew what to ask for. There were two different companies that came out and the continuity could have been a bit better. The second company coming out trying to pick up the previous company's comments caused a delay.
The gentleman from Montz turned up on time exactly as requested. There were a few items that were reported by the previous company when they did the AC inspection. He was here for about 40 minutes and managed to clear everything then he did a review where he showed me everything that he had done and the issues that were there. He was very impressive.
As an improvement to cut down American Home Shield's costs, they would want to be right the first time. The first engineer comes out, does a tune-up, and finds there's an issue there. There should be communication to be able to do that repair there rather than scheduling two or possibly even three repairs. Other than that, American Home Shield is a very good value for money. I'm quite a busy person so having those reminders that come in that say, "You need to get this tuned up or you need to get this looked at," works really well. The online ordering is excellent too. I don't need to hang on the phone to get in touch with somebody. When I have a problem and I called up, American Home Shield has been really good to respond. I have recommended them to people because the service is excellent.

When there was water coming from the bottom of the washer, the response was very fast. A dispatcher got ahold of me and said that Ivan with ADA Repair would be calling me and he did. They said that they would be here between 12 or something and Ivan called me 20 minutes before. Apparently, my flooring gentleman who put the appliance back did not seat the draining tube deep enough into the drain. There was nothing wrong with the appliance itself. Ivan showed me exactly what the problem was, got the zip tie and secured it, and ran the cycle to make sure that that, indeed, is what it was, and all was well. I was very pleased. I hope I don't have any more problems but I have the security of knowing that I can just make a call to American Home Shield and an experienced provider will come out.

We hadn’t used the spa in a long time and I couldn’t turn it on. We’ve lived here for six years but whoever lived here before rigged the spa so that the button to turn it on was over at the box where the timer is and not at the actual spa and it had fallen off. We tried turning the dial and it still didn't turn on. The guy found out that the breaker was tripped over a wall outside. He told us to stand back and he hit the pump. It was no good. So, he replaced that. He put the button back on temporarily and he said that he was going to set the timer and to let him know if it works.
We have two separate pumps for the pool and for the spa. I asked him if he could combine them and he said he couldn’t because the drain was underground. It would be a lot of digging stuff. There were little clips on the timer for the pool for the turn on and turn off and I told him that I didn’t know if I was doing it wrong. He said the gears were bad so he put new ones in. So, that works fine now. He said that moving the button back over to the spa where it's supposed to be wouldn't be covered. So I said it was okay. He was going to give us a quote to do that through their company. He asked me to check the timer for the spa but that still doesn't work. Maybe that needs new gears too.
I called him back because he said he was gonna email me a quote to move the button over. He said that all we had to do was clear out the piping and put the button back over. But I never got the quote. I left a message on his voicemail and I told him that the timer for the spa does not work. I'm assuming that's covered as well under warranty. So that would probably have to be another time he comes out and another $100 deductible.
Also, when I turned on the spa, I noticed that one of the jets wasn't working and the bubbles that are supposed to come up from the bottom didn't work anymore either. I told my husband that I would wait a couple weeks because I didn't want to spend another $100 right away. I would put in another claim for him to come back out and fix the timer and also see what's going on with the jet and the bubbles. I'm assuming that's covered under the warranty. Moving the on and off button wouldn't be covered and that was fine. We were willing to pay extra for him to change that out.
I was very happy with Daniel, the guy from the pool service. He was very well-versed in what he was doing. He was very professional and he was early to the appointment. I pulled in the driveway and he pulled right behind me. It was perfect timing. He's been to our house twice now. He was here two years ago and our pool filter was leaking. We kept trying to patch it ourselves using the Flex tape, which didn’t work and then my husband said that it was covered under the warranty. Daniel replaced our pool pump. We had a D.E filter and he said he could get one of those on Thursday but if we wanted the cartridge filter, he could get one on the next day. I said that I wanted the cartridge filter. It's a little less expensive but it's less hassle cleaning it. So we've got that. That was two years ago and that works great. We’ve also had the panel on the dishwasher replaced because it was under $350.

My commode was wobbling and High Priority Plumbing did a great job getting it locked down well. I also had an issue with the kitchen sink and they got that cleared too. They were fast and efficient. If I have a plumbing issue, I’ll request High Priority Plumbing. If you get a vendor that you like, record them and make a request for them to come back out. A year or two ago, a major Achilles’ heel in the claims submission process with American Home Shield was getting somebody on the telephone. But that has gotten a lot better. I was close to switching but they handled the claims process very well. They were horrendous with phone customer service but they improved it and so I’m very happy with them now. Everybody always runs maybe right towards the cheaper deductible but I chose the cheaper monthly premium and the higher deductible. So that's something people should do the math and see which one they think works best for them.

The washing machine’s motor and transmission were shot and when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, it was very easy, effective and efficient. The contractor ended up replacing the washing machine. It was more cost effective to replace it than to fix it. The tech had broken English and I could hardly understand him but everything else was perfectly fine. AHS sent an email to us saying it’s gonna be about three weeks before we get a reimbursement check, which is the only hang-up I’ve seen so far. When I turned in a call sometimes, trying to state the problem according to what American Home Shield have to check off is a bit off. I can't give enough details. But that’s from the past. I recently tried to submit a claim online, but this time it wouldn't take my credit card so I had to call them. The tech was timely and efficient. Everything was good.
Sometimes AHS is slow to get around when something needs to be replaced. In the past, I had to have my air conditioner replaced. That took some time. And the contractor that I had tried to sell me a whole system when I kept telling him that AHS had to okay everything. Same thing when my heater went out. They tried fixing it but they couldn't, so they had to replace the heater. But that one took four weeks. And we were very cold. So, AHS is very good on the small jobs. But on the big jobs, they tend to slow down. Part of it, I understand. They're trying to get different bids. But if you're freezing your ** off, that’s not very good. But on everything else, they've been doing a good job.

I called American Home Shield to see if there was a way to have the schedule on when the contractor was supposed to be out. The lady called AHS and said that the office was closed but she told me that since the service call was still on, I could call back on Monday and make arrangements for when we could meet. I was under the assumption that it was only gonna be one part but the other part arrived yesterday. The contractor is now waiting on another part, which was why they didn’t come out on May 8. But I didn’t receive a call or email. I talked to the contractor this morning and they’re scheduled to come back out this Monday between 1:00 and 5:00. The contractor was professional as well as the lady. She walked me through and explained about the part. I’m still waiting for one part for my microwave too and that’s supposed to be towards the end of the month.
When I had AHS in the past, sometimes, they were hard to reach in case of an emergency. But that’s the cons with subcontractors. They don’t work directly for AHS. But now, there are more numbers. Or on the computer, you can set your profile and they’ll answer your text or an email confirmation. The service has improved and the notification has improved a lot within the last year or two. One of my coworkers, who is a single homeowner, was asking about AHS and I said that the $50 a month is worth it especially if you’re on fixed income or you got kids or caregivers, and especially with this COVID and what’s going on. It should give you a first leg up or if something breaks that’s major and you don't have that type of money in your savings or disposable income to fix it or buy something new.

I had two recent claims, one for the circuit panel outside of the house, and then the other was for air conditioning unit checkup. Submitting them was good. But with my experiences, I am definitely gonna cancel. I'm not happy with their contracted vendors. Home Shield sent out a technician that was not thorough and professional. I paid $100. He was very quick and then in his report, he reported that he checked everything, and the levels were good, but that I needed a new unit.
When I called into the Home Shield to complain, I told them I wanted another technician to come out 'cause I spent money and he was here less than 10 minutes. They said they would have to follow up with the technician to get his report first. His report came back with the same result and so they wouldn't give me my money back or send somebody else out. When I had the two quotes from air conditioning companies come out, they said that the levels were low and the unit needed to be cleaned. He was supposed to clean it. I ended up replacing it the next week. I'm very disappointed in that.
Then the electricians that came out for the circuit panel were nice, but it took a couple of weeks to get them out. They said that they were gonna be recommending that we replace the panel and I haven't heard anything back from Home Shield. When I looked online, it said that the work order was completed, and that was another $100. I pay monthly. Now I paid $200 out of pocket that was wasted. I would not recommend Home Shield to anyone.

We got a new water softener through American Home Shield. Just before we did that, the dryer was acting up. So, I decided to have the techs come out and take a look at it again. It was overheating. We weren't sure what was going on. They opened it and cleaned it up. There was something that wasn't quite working. The tech also found out that the lint had backed up in the hose going out, and we're going to have to get that fixed separately. It's been there for 40 years, but they used a flexible hose. The theory is that it's probably been punctured at this point and that's why it's starting to accumulate. We had the same problem a year ago that should have been fixed. They did a very good job and took that in.
The next day, the washer was running, but it wasn't pumping water. I was concerned at the time that it had something to do with the changing of the water softener because the tech had to flush in that same area. He assured me that he hadn’t touched anything. So, I called that in the next day. That was a completely separate issue. As it turned out, the filter coming into the machine was clogged. The tech said that's not particularly an unusual occurrence over time. He cleaned it all up and fixed it and it's running fine. There was no direct repair other than doing that. It kind of questioned me if it is something that a user would be able to do and not really had to test the machine up and get behind it and unhook the hoses. I would have never figured out where it was even at or what it was doing. It was a repair that needed to be made. The good news was we can get the repair without having to change anything.
I used to call in my claims to American Home Shield, but it takes so long to call in now. Nobody answers. So, I submitted my latest claims online. It was instantaneous and I got a callback from a local company really quickly on each one. The tech was really good. It was the same guy that came both times. He did the work reasonably and got it done right away and checked some stuff in addition to making sure everything was okay. He properly diagnosed it and made sure it was running. He told me what the problem was. Even when he was done and signed it, he stood there a while and watched it to be sure everything was still working fine. So, he did a nice job. My experience was quick and efficient and I was satisfied.

But I almost wanted to discontinue the warranty because when I called on a service, I was told that it was not covered and I wasn't aware that it was not covered. Then, I got charged for the service call and I felt like it was a rip-off. But AHS told me that that's their policy. I understand that, but to charge someone $100 when nothing was done is a lot of money. That part of their policy should be reevaluated. If I called someone else, most of the time, service calls cost about $40. Then if the techs fix the work, then it goes towards the repair cost. Other than that, whenever I make a claim with AHS, it takes a good week for me to see a tech. If it's an emergency, then it's still between three to five business days.

I love AHS. They helped me out with everything, like my washer, my dryer, my plumbing and my air conditioning. The air conditioning guy was amazing. The plumbers that I've used have been amazing too. Everybody AHS sent to me I have felt great about. They've masked up when they've come in my house and they've been respectful. I'm not gonna stop using AHS ever.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our members is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

My water heater is not brand-new but the same part was going out all the time. Heros Plumbing replaced the part last year and they replaced it again in January. Then, they replaced it again last month. Either somebody needs to replace my water heater or they need to do something. Heros Plumbing said something about the pipe going up to the vent. It wasn't installed right by whoever installed the water heater and the carbon monoxide was not flowing correctly. They didn't charge me because they said that wasn't covered under my home warranty. So, they did it out of courtesy, which was very nice of them because I had already called them multiple occasions.
Heros Plumbing was very professional and they're good. I was hoping that they would fix the water heater. It's been two weeks since the last time they were there and it hasn't gone bad. But I have to wait because the last time, it went out within three months. The service with American Home Shield has not been beneficial because I had another issue with plumbing. I called about three months ago. When we turn on the hot water in the bathroom, it vibrates loudly and you can hear the vibration throughout the water pipe inside the house. AHS didn’t approve because they said it just needed to be strapped on. So I’m very dissatisfied with that one. AHS never called me to let me know that it wasn't approved. I found out because I called the contractor.

I did a claim online with American Home Shield and it was fairly straightforward. The hardest part was getting my model number on my washing machine but I figured that out eventually. On the whole, the submission process was easy and I'm happy with the end result. The technicians worked through some challenges with the refrigerator but they figured it out and the problems were resolved. The technicians were very professional and personable. The house was left in a nice, clean state. American Home Shield has been good so far. We've been fairly lucky that we haven't had any major issues.

Our washing machine started to make squealing sounds. At first, I thought it was just something that a piece of an article of clothing was making. It continued to happen and continued to progressively get worse. At that point, we made the claim with American Home Shield. A repairman came out and did an inspection. He found out that there was a piece that supports the entire drum that was broken. That piece is no longer manufactured or available. The repairman said that the machine was not fixable.
The repairman submitted his paperwork and we got a response from American Home Shield within 48 to 72 hours. They had seen the claim and it was being processed. They sent us a link to some washers through avenues that they have and it was supposedly for greater discounts. Unfortunately, none of the washers that we were interested in were on that list. We preferred to have a check to put towards the washing machine of our choice. We are now waiting on that check to be mailed to us.
We had another claim with American Home Shield. A repairman came out and said he saw what the problem was. He sent it up through the chain of command at American Home Shield. American Home Shield's claim adjuster didn't agree with the findings and the claim was denied. There doesn’t seem to necessarily be much mediation just because it was the way they saw things even though neither myself nor the repairman saw it that way. They said, “This is the way we see it, so this is the way it is.” We were frustrated with this one. The process is more cut-and-dry.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

For every time that I've had a problem, American Home Shield sent someone and the problems were fixed. The recent tech was good. He solved the problem quickly. If I submit a claim online, AHS just automatically assigns someone. I try to do it online because when I call them, it's a complete disaster. And this is coming from a person whose main language is Spanish. The people that they have can barely speak English. You try to explain things to them, but they don't get it. They would not listen to you. They go by the script. I was like, “No, I'm trying to explain to you.” But they don't understand because their language ability is close to zero.
And then the other thing was, I didn't have access to the account. They were having problems with the system and they didn't let us know. So, I tried to reset. I was just trying not to call because I knew no one would be able to respond to what I was saying. Finally, I got a guy. I was trying to explain to him, “Hey, I am not receiving the email to reset the password. And I know that the password that I have is the correct one.” “Oh, well, we don't have an IT department.” They're aware of the situation, but I don't know when it's gonna get fixed. I was like, “What? You have to have an IT department. There's no way. Whoever designed your webpage has to be able to help you.”
I called another number. And a guy told me, "Create a new account, and what it’s going to do is gonna merge it.” I said, “That is not even an IT-secure procedure.” That blew my mind, coming from the IT world. I created a new account. It asked me for my address, and it merged the old account with a new one. I said, “First of all, you needed to let us know you're having this problem.” Send an email saying, “Hey, we're having problems. And this is how you fix the problem.” I was months and months without access. I was even going to cancel the policy because how can something so simple as logging in, I can't? Even if I am not an IT person and can see the problem, imagine someone that’s clueless about IT, they would not know.

My pump wasn't functioning properly so we called American Home Shield. As soon as I put an issue out there, I got the contact information of whoever was coming out. The process was way easier than I thought it would be where it would be a whole bunch of back and forth. A service person was there the next morning. He initially said between 8:00 and 9:00. He was there at 8 o'clock. He called on his way to let us know. He was very quick to diagnose the problem. One of the propellers inside the pump broke so it wasn't pumping all the water appropriately. The afternoon of the next day, he came out and fixed the problem. Since then, the pool has worked perfectly. There was also a crack in the lid to the filter. The person replaced that lid as well since he was already there. Everything went so smoothly.

We kept getting disconnected with whoever we were talking with on the phone and we were about to email a supervisor some literature that said American Home Shield was supposed to cover what they were trying to make us pay for, and we got disconnected again. She never called back. So, we waited all day Friday and never heard from them. It was 6:00 already and it was the weekend, so hopefully they would call Monday. We got busy with kiddos and we were going to call today. I have no idea where we stand with our case. Meanwhile, our water heater is still leaking and broken. So, we're trying to get that fixed but we're upset about the whole process because they were saying that we would owe $1,185 for this stuff and what we saw that they should be covering.
Larry, the guy who came out with the plumber and the plumbing service, was fantastic. We were having a different issue completely and he wanted to help us figure that out. He couldn’t put it on the call but he went above and beyond. We had a water consumption issue and no one could figure out what was going on. So, that intrigued him and he went out and looked at our meter, did things that he didn't need to do while we were waiting on American Home Shield. The plumbing company was amazing. Larry was trying to get us all the deals that he could get us and they said they have some discount if we use them. So, that part was great. On the other hand, we had the opposite experience with American Home Shield.
We just bought this house and the air conditioner and the water heater were the two things that we wanted to keep the home warranty for. They were original to the house and we knew that they would need to be repaired or replaced soon. Our AC went out first. The first time, we paid the lump sum upfront for the policy and this time, we've been paying $67 month to month, which is a lot for us. My husband's a pastor and that's all the income we have. So, we're relying on AHS to be a good fix for us whenever those problems arose. Instead, you have to pay the $75 service fee for them to even come out and look at it.
When our AC broke, we did the cash out option because AHS wanted to repair it and it was very broken. We have an AC guy that we know through church and he said that we were not leaking Freon and that we couldn't repair the AC anymore. We need to replace the system. It was frustrating because AHS gave us $400 for what ended up costing us $5,000.
It's the same thing this time. Our plumber recommended replacing the AC instead of putting a band aid on a broken leg like we thought he was gonna say. And we still have to pay this huge amount of money for something that we thought was going to be fully covered. We should have saved our money and paid ourselves that much money a month because we're out hundreds of dollars and now $1,000. Everyone told us how good AHS was and how it’s beneficial and that we should have it. But AHS is not doing what it advertised or called to do.

I got the highest package, the triple package, but I couldn't talk it over with the intake customer service rep 'cause I didn't have the package yet. So I went ahead and paid the $100 for that claim. Other than that, the service was good. The service person fixed the issue with the stove.

They hustled and got the job done. I've been very pleased with their work. But I've had a previous challenge in the past with a claim that I filed with American Home Shield where there was a plumber that we ended up using and then causing damage. I was trying to get a different plumber assigned to us to treat the claim but they only had one provider that worked the area so that was a bit problematic. So it seems like you end up being confined to the providers that they have and working in your specific area. If you end up having a problem with one of those providers for any reason or you're not satisfied with the work, I don't think there's many alternate options that they offer.

We had some air conditioning work done and the techs were able to come out at the end of that week, which was fairly good for American Home Shield. It wasn't really that hot, so it wasn't a big deal. But the technician, Rick, pretty much saved the day. We've dealt with American Home Shield for many years and he was probably the best that we had. And we had three properties at one point where we had to do a lot of stuff. One issue took four months to resolve in the dead of summer and it was just terrible. So, AHS has improved some things.
Other than that, they don't really care how long it takes for someone to fix the issue unless somebody complains and it would be great if they could somehow get into some more local companies. Their contractors are local-ish, but they're so big. There needs to be an option where you can get someone quicker, because all that the current policy does is help American Home Shield and the companies that they use. It's not helping the consumer who's paying the fee every month. When you can't get someone a little quicker than a week without air conditioning in Florida, it's not a good thing. At some point, there needs to be a cut-off point where if the techs can't get there within the week and fix the problem, then AHS needs to expand out to local companies that can come quicker.

When our Whirlpool tub wasn't working, I went to the American Home Shield website, created my account, and then selected what service I needed. It was really easy. At the time of service request, I was not given any information other than somebody would contact me. I then received an email within 24 hours that said it would be this company and they would get ahold of me to schedule. Then I got a phone call from someone from the company and I scheduled the appointment. The technician showed up but my husband had just left the house. He waited there for my husband to turn around and come back. He looked at the tub and found that it wasn't an actual mechanical issue. The tub worked fine, and it was an electrical outlet issue. He showed my husband everything he was talking about. Unfortunately, he couldn't fix the issue because it was an electrical outlet. But he was very informative.
I also did an appliance claim and American Home Shield sent out a different company. They said that they were going to have to put in a service ticket. But that was a week ago, and we still haven't heard back from that. But so far, I'm pleased with American Home Shield's service. The pricing was reasonable compared to other home warranty packages. It's probably got a hole and we gotta find the hole. If we put it in and it starts leaking out, we'll have to come back.” He quoted me a price. He was going to work up the work order, how much a new one would cost. He said we’ll have to put new air, new furnace in. It was like $10,000. He said the AHS people would pay 3,000. Then I got a text message from somebody from Fast Response. I'm assuming that it’s this guy's supervisor. He told me he's working out of Indianapolis and he sent me a quote for $8,000. So then, I reached out to American Home Shield.
I just didn't feel comfortable with Fast Response coming back into my home. Especially after the guy that sent me the email said that he was going to take American Home Shield out of the equation and he wanted to do it and all of this was in. We had a three-way conversation with American Home Shield. First, they wanted to charge me $50. My daughter said, “No, she should get it for free."
They had sent out somebody from AirRite and it was totally different from what the Fast Response people said. What the AirRite man said made sense. He said something about the motherboard and why it wasn’t going through and why it wasn’t cooling up. But they still hadn't sent me a quote on that. I’m waiting on AirRite. It seemed like AHS wasn't looking out for my best interest. I would not recommend them.

My KitchenAid dishwasher was making a horrible noise. The serviceman was out there previously to work on my oven. He listened to my dishwasher and said that it sounded like the motor. So, I put in another request. Sure enough, they ordered the part, came in, and installed the new motor. The claims process is super easy. Just log in, tell them what you need, and they get back to you quickly. So far, we've been very satisfied.

Smokey's Garage Door was awesome. The serviceman was very helpful, personable, courteous, friendly, and explained what he was doing. I only had one question with them, and I called American Home Shield and spoke to someone who did not speak English very well. She kinda took the lead on it and made sure that everything was okay. Smokey's Garage Door sent me a copy that they evidently invoiced to American Home Shield. I mistakenly thought that I was being charged an additional amount, but I was not. I just got confused. They handled it very professionally and very well and the process from American Home Shield was very good.

We've had a couple of different guys come out over the couple of years we've been here and you can tell when they're knowledgeable or not. The tech that came out for the dishwasher had a lot of knowledge and a lot of science and helpful information. So we were definitely happy with him. Unfortunately, this is the fourth call-out we've had on this dishwasher. He looked it over and he explained things to me, but there was not a whole lot we could repair. But he let us know that American Home Shield also gives us the option to sometimes cash out or get money for a replacement. He let us know what our options were while giving me the science on what was wrong with the thing. Also, it was pretty quick and easy to submit the claim online. But I wish I could get the technician that I liked before we go to another company. Because every time we've called out for something, we always get somebody new every time. Other than that, everything's been good.

A lot of times there's an English barrier. I only speak English. So, sometimes, that's a bit frustrating to understand some of the folks on the phone. But that's my biggest complaint. The company had to replace the whole furnace, which was odd. But that's what they needed to do. However, I had to pay $830 out-of-pocket because they said they had to do modifications, which meant when they removed the furnace, they had to cut pipes, and then reattach the pipes. And for some reason, the warranty didn't cover that.
They couldn't repair the furnace. It's like fixing the engine in your car. You can't fix the engine without removing spark plugs, wires, and all the stuff that’s in an engine. But then, they charged me for all that extra stuff that was part of the repair. That was a bit much. But I didn't have time to argue about it because I was busy and I needed to get it fixed. And I wound up paying $830. AHS should have reimbursed me for that, or part of that, because it was all part of the furnace being repaired. Other than that, the claim turned around within a couple of weeks. Everything, back-and-forth, worked out well. I'm gonna use that contractor in the future.

We had a problem with the icemaker and submitting the claim was pretty simple. The service went fairly well but it was a little bit lengthy in the time to resolve. There were some issues with the tech being able to get the part and there were some things where it was on backorder, so that took a little while. But he was very communicative with regards to informing us of delays. He was also listening to some of the information I had about troubleshooting and different replacements that had been done prior to him coming out, in order to get to the final resolution, which was satisfactory.
So far, we've had a couple different claims with AHS and two of the three claims have been resolved to satisfactory level. The third, we're still waiting for the final resolution. We had a dishwasher issue and the claim went through. The service agent came by and it was determined that the dishwasher was not serviceable, and we had to get a replacement. I had some problems with one of the previous places I tried to buy the unit, so that was on me. But we finally got a replacement and we submitted the information to get reimbursed. And we're still waiting on that process. Other than that, we would be interested in extending the home warranty on this home and potentially getting one on our primary home.

My water heater was making this really loud banging noise and I made a claim for it on the 21st. AHS assigned Alpha Omega as the contractor and I called them. They had a guy come to my house within 30 minutes which was pretty cool. He told me that my water heater is 30-plus years old and it needs to be replaced. The gas control valve is not functioning properly anymore. It's hard to stay lit so we have hot water intermittently and it still makes the really loud banging noise. He submitted a request to AHS.
That Friday, I called to find out if there was any traction on the request and was told that the people were out of the office so I won't hear anything until Monday. I waited until the following Friday and I called again. AHS denied the guy's claim and sent it out for a second opinion. I'm not very happy with AHS over that because the water heater is no good. Another thing was the gentleman that I spoke to that day told me that Alpha Omega requested a second opinion. I called the Alpha Omega and that guy seemed very upset because he said he did not request a second opinion and said that he recommended the replacement of the unit. AHS lying bothered me.
The technician from the second contractor, Van Allen Plumbing, now turned in his quotes saying the same thing that the water heater needs to be replaced. He called me back afterward to tell me that it was approved and now, I'm in a holding pattern waiting for a water heater. In the meantime, since the 21st, I've had hot water intermittently. It's really frustrating if we don't have any hot water in the early morning because it's not warm. There's also the loud banging noise and because of it, everybody thinks the unit is gonna blow up. I'm happy with that whole process. It has dragged out longer than it should have. It's irritating. Did the contractor charge too much money to do a new one? If that's the case, then why does AHS use them? That bothered me. I'm just sitting here waiting in limbo.

Submitting claims is a simple process. But American Home Shield's contractors don't want to work. Two of their contractors, previously, cheated me. They took the money and then they said, “Oh, this is a problem. This is not the problem that the washing machine was leaking.” I told him I saw the water and foam out there. He said, “No, no, no. It is the pipe is leaking.” And he lied to me. I had to ask for a second opinion I had to call five times to get back.
The previous one, he came and ruined my thing. He made me spend three weeks without a fix. And then the second opinion guy came. He said, “Yes, the washer is leaking.” He fixed it. AHS' contractors tried to shrug off the work, said it was not their problem. The rep pushed it to plumbing, plumbing pushed it back to appliance, appliance put that back to plumbing.
AHS' contractors do not do a deep analysis. They just want to run away saying it's not their issue. They do not do a good job. AHS's contractor selection process should be very thorough because if the contractors are cheating people, it's a bad name for them. We would think AHS sent us a bad person. If there are some issues with the guy, just take them out of their list. The first washer dryer guy who came cheated me and wasted almost my three to four weeks. And then a good appliance guy came. He said, “Yes, it's a problem with the gasket. I will change it.” He changed it and the problem was fixed. Spartan Plumbing coming was very nice, and the tech was a very good person. He did the right thing.

The contractor called and told me a time and a date. I just had to call him about when the part arrived, ‘cause he told me when the part arrived, he would call me. I felt it was taking a little too long. I had given them a call myself and asked them about the part, which he told me there wasn’t any yet. When the part came in, he called me and told me when he would be coming over to the house and he did. The contractor was good. He explained everything before he left.
The stove is working perfectly fine now. The problem that I'm having right now is the dishwasher still hasn't been fixed. Some things we have done have been quick responses and quick turnaround times. Others just seem like it takes a long time to get approval for any type of parts or replacements. Plumbing, garage doors, electrical, all that stuff were always really smooth. The heating and air approval seem to be the harder ones and longer wait times. Most of the companies that come out providing that service in our area will not use American Home Shield because they say it's hard to get payment and hard to get approval for parts. We're limited on who we can use in our area. Like the electrical person that came out, he drove two and a half hours away and we have electrical people here in town. Our plumber had to drive an hour away too, which were all great people and I would recommend them any time. That's the only thing.
We have a friend of ours that owns a Heat & Air place here in town and they had to drop American Home Shield just for not getting paid timely. That didn't really affect us, AHS has taken care of us, it's just sometimes, we'd like to use local if possible. With my recent claim, Danny Larcom Heating & Air took care of everything on their side. American Home Shield just didn't approve them to order the parts. That took a little longer than I would have liked, but I knew that the Heating & Air place had to go through the process of getting most of that stuff approved.

Nana who was doing that Samsung refrigerator took ages. They kept in contact with me, but they couldn't find somebody to come and do the work at the times that I was available. They kept saying, "Sorry, we can't get somebody on that date. Here, have some more dates and choose from that." And they sent five boxes worth of whatever we needed. That was sent very quickly. I have a hard time understanding the reps taking the call for service requests. It's kind of frustrating sometimes because I would have to keep repeating, they would be saying the same thing over and over, and I could kinda get aggravated with them. I had one bad experience with one of the ladies and she hung up the phone on me. I was very upset about that. I called back because I never got through concerning my situation and it was a guy that next answered the phone. I told him what happened and he told me he was so sorry that happened. He was able to give me the correct information and he did a good job of handling it. That was very nice of him.
Other than that, the companies American Home Shield assigns do a good job. I had an issue with the showerhead that All American Plumbing came out for and they did a good job. The plumber identified the problem right away and fixed it. I liked the guy because he's like a well-trained person and he was an older gentleman. I'm sure he had been with the company a long time so he had a lot of experience. Everything is working fine right now.

American Home Shield is a third party to initiate contractors to come out and work issues, and they do that fairly well. The cost of subscription is less than the cost of repair for major issues. But they could do improvements in the process time and the trust between the contractors and the company. For instance, if one contractor is assigned an issue to resolve that when one contractor says that the issue is not fixable and that they must proceed with replacing a unit that they trust that the contractor is telling them the truth and that they are experts in the field. But it took six months to almost eight months to fix a dishwasher when the first contractor indicated that they had done all that they could and the unit was not repairable. It took three to four contractors with more than one, second opinion or third opinion, to proceed with that process.

The garage door opener would go up, but it wouldn't go down once it goes up. You couldn't let it back down from the remote in the car or from the panel on the outside of the door of the garage. American Home Shield had a technician out here the next day. We thought we got it repaired that day. It was working. It was on that Wednesday but on Sunday, when we got ready to let it down, it did the same thing that it was doing before. So, I had to call the technician back. It was a different issue supposedly when he came back. So, based on that and the age of the garage door opener, I told him that I wanted to replace the whole garage door opener. Everything's working fine now.
I had a lot of past experiences with the company. I've been with American Home Shield for a lot of years. It all worked out, but sometimes, they're kind of hard to work with. I had some experiences with air conditioning units and having to wait for parts. On one event, we had to wait for like two weeks to get a part in. We had to end up getting a hotel because it was so hot and we had to wait for almost two weeks for them to get the part in for our AC unit. They ended up replacing that whole unit.

But a couple of days after, the stove was doing the same thing and I haven't told AHS about it because I don’t want to get charged another $100. Other than that, the guy was a nice person and after I made the claim online, someone called me back within 24 hours.

I had trouble with the air conditioner before and the ductwork had to be changed. However, American Home Shield didn't want to cover it and there was no other way of having it done since it was an older model. With that, I was going to cancel out after all these years. But then finally, they gave me some credit on it on the extra money that I paid so it helped me out a little bit and I appreciated that. Recently, the AC didn't seem to work in conjunction with the thermostat. Appalachian Craftsmen checked everything over even the filters. It's working okay now. They did the original installation of the air conditioning. They're a very nice company, I prefer them, and I wouldn't want another company to come out. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. If you're with the company for almost 18, 20 years, there must be a reason, right?

The spa emptied itself. It wasn't climbing for a couple days 'til it got hot. When the pool person came to service my pool and turned it on, it started leaking and spraying out from the motor and the prime area. We thought the motor burned out and he told us to keep it off until I get somebody out here because this will drain my pool. I had issues with the spa equipment too but I can't check it until I have it looked at for leak detection and American Shield does not cover that. But the pool person was very well-versed and polite. He changed out the gasket of the pool. He was very thorough. He was on time. It was a very good experience. Also, American Home Shield scheduled the service around my schedule, so it worked out fine.

I reached out to American Home Shield over the phone. It was my first time using it and I wasn't sure what was fully covered. The representative was the one who told me that this was covered. It's a home that I've just moved into that I've had renovated. When I told them that, they said that a locksmith can take care of doing the change-out of the keys. I did not know that until they made me aware of it, so that was very appreciative. I followed up and used them once I moved in. There was a quick turn on scheduling someone. He was very professional, he showed up when he said he was going to and was very quick in resolving the issue. I was very satisfied. American Home Shield is something that everyone should get. You never know what's going to happen and when you're going to need it. When you need it, you're grateful you have it.

The water heater went out and it leaked water all over my house, the hallway and a little spot in my closet in my master bedroom. It also went into the front bathroom and it messed up the floor in there. This house was built in 1981 and it looked like it might have been the original hot water tank. But the service guy got in there, found things that wasn't up to code, and that was wrong. He said that if he'd pull all this out and put the new in, the water heater would be up to code and we'd be good to go. That was what he did and I was quite pleased with his work. I've told people at work that if I didn't have American Home Shield, I wouldn't know how I would pay for the stuff that had to be fixed 'cause it was so expensive.

Requesting for a service is easy once you get in online and I've had no problems. I spent a good week and a half trying to get back into my account. It looked like I had to add all my service addresses and attach my username again. But once I figured that out, it went very smoothly. Normally, four seconds after you click the submit claim button, you know the service contractor that's coming and you have their phone number information in case they don't get in touch with you. A&E Services came out for the dishwasher and then, I had Realty Rekey. They came in the same week but both of them went exceptionally well. There were no issues and they were very clean.
I try to do the service requests online but a lot of the follow-up has to be done on the phone. The last time with the dishwasher, I had to call AHS about replacement. They answered the phone within five minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised with that experience. Normally, especially in this environment with COVID and working at home, it's been some hours when you have to call. AHS is great for a house that has all the standard appliances. I wish they would offer some kind of plan for people who have pools or above-ground spas. I would switch everything I had over there.

There was a leak in the mixer that turns the shower off and on and the service provided by the contractor, AM PM Plumbing, was very good. The only problem that I had was that on the gentleman’s second visit which was when he put the mixer in, he just left. He didn't leave me any paperwork as to what he did or even ask if I wanted the part. He should have left the paperwork right then and usually, they do and have you sign it. The man who came out was very polite and explained but maybe because I had company come in from California, everything got very chaotic. Other than that, he was very fast and efficient. I called AM PM and they said that they would check on it for me. I finally got an email from somebody that said that he had already thrown the part away and the lady sent me a copy of the paperwork that the gentleman signed.

I'm happy about the service with American Home Shield and how they responded and treated me. I’ve been a customer for about more than two years. But I'm just unhappy about how they allow the contractors to charge their customers an exuberant amount of markup for Freon when Freon is totally affordable for everyone. But I'm happy we got the air conditioner back working. Also, American Home Shield is committed to standby the customer or the consumer and they've been loyal to what they said they would do. They've replaced an item in my home that would have cost me several thousand dollars. They replaced my microwave and oven, one piece unit. So the loyalty of American Home Shield to its customers is very satisfying.

The contractor didn't really do much for me. They came in and they told me what the issue was and to make a claim. As far as making the claim, nothing was approved. So, I'm going to go ahead and try again with a different vendor. Professionalism-wise, they were pretty good. No complaints. It just wasn't fixed. That's the only issue. I'm a first-time homebuyer, so this is my first time with home warranties, and I feel that American Home Shield is only good if it's just little items to be fixed, like a lightbulb switch needs to get fixed, a refrigerator. But they're not that good on anything major. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield for any major appliances. Look for something else.

There was a leak that developed in the plumbing for an upstairs toilet and the contractor showed up right at the front edge of that appointment time. They were very professional. They had to saw through parts of the sheet rock and they took the time to clean that up and vacuum up any of the dust. They picked up after themselves much more than I may have seen in the past with other contractors. The guy also took the time, after doing all of his investigative work and everything else, to come find me and bring me around and show me and explain to me what the issues were.
I did the claim via the website of American Home Shield and it was not difficult. But the specifics that were available on the website didn't give a whole lot of options. It could have been a little bit more specific but a leaking pipe was good enough to get what we needed out of it. A leaking shower, a leaking toilet or some form of plumbing leak may be different than some of the other options that they gave. I had to check Other. Still, the service has been beneficial. I have peace of mind in the sense that I'm not going to have to fork out a ton of money to get the fix accomplished.

I had a seasonal cleaning tune-up and when we turned one unit on, we noticed that cold air wasn't coming. The tech said that it was a problem with somewhere in that air conditioner and that I would have to submit a second claim to have it fixed because he was just there to do the tune-up thing. I put in an order to fix for a repair and AHS contacted a different HVAC company. The guy came out and said that the problem was not in the compressor, but in the unit that's up in the attic. That thing has to be replaced and it's inaccessible. He couldn't fix it and then he left. I called American Home Shield back and the rep said it didn't sound right to him because he could get into the attic and see the air conditioner up there and get to it.
We put in another work order and they contacted Strix. Their repairman came out and went up in the attic. He accessed the coil and opened it up and said that there's just one little valve in there that needs to be repaired. It's not the whole unit that needs to be replaced. He could fix it but he has to order the part. Then he left and put in the order for the part, and then it came in and a guy came back and fixed it. Now, it works.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was a disaster. I put in a request for electrical service. I have four electric outlets outside the house that don't work. Now, had I known upfront that outdoor receptacles are not covered, I would have saved the $100 trade call and not put in the request. But American Home Shield is always pushing people to put in the request online as opposed to calling. Had I called, they would have caught it and said, “Hey, wait a minute, this isn’t covered.” So, I put the request in. The company came out. They called me in advance and said, “Okay. Exactly what outlets are there?” I told them, “I’ve got four outlets outside the house that don't work. Two of them are in the pool filter. One of them is at the back deck, and one of them is underneath the deck.” They said nothing to me about it.
Then, they came out in a couple of days. The guy spent less than 10 minutes here, plugged that little thing in and said, “Oh, there's no power.” I said, “Yeah, I know there's no power. That's the reason why I put in the request.” He said they had to talk to American Home Shield and get approval from them, and he left. The next day, I found out it was denied because outdoor outlets aren't covered. I just thought the way that whole thing went down was really disingenuous. The electric company claims they had no idea they're not covered. Every contractor is different but I suspect they probably did.
I called American Home Shield. First, I got the call center in India. The second time, I got the call center in the Philippines. We just went round and round. All they said was, “I'm sorry, it's not covered. And this is the section where it says it's not covered.” I read that section, and it’s very ambiguous the way it's written as far as the outlets are concerned. I understand there's a definition of what is considered home, and that's kind of buried in the beginning of it before it gets to the exclusions. It says it’s the area within the confines of the foundation of the house and the attached garage. But who reads that part? I don’t look at what's the definition of a home and decide, “Okay. Well, wait a minute, it’s not within the confines of the foundation of my house or the attached garage. So therefore, it's not covered.” It’s very vague.
Nobody's gonna bother to put in a claim for something that they know right off the bat, on a technicality, is not gonna be covered. I threw $100 down the drain, and I was upset about it. I called. I got nothing. I called a second time because I got a message from American Home Shield saying, “Your claim is partially covered. Call the company.” I called the company, and the company said, “No. It's completely disallowed.” The call center just said, “Nope. There's nothing we can do. It's already been decided.” Then, I ended up calling again. After 30 minutes of going back and forth and me threatening to cancel my service, they promised me a $30 credit, which I haven't seen yet. They said, “We can't give you the $100 back. Because the company already came out, and we paid the company.” I get it but there should be more transparency, and people should know upfront what is not covered.
So, my biggest gripe was the electrical claim. I’ve never really had problems with American Home Shield. I've gone back and forth on some things that I understand were big ticket items that they wanted a second opinion, or they wanted to fix as opposed to replace. I get that. But this whole electrical thing was absolutely wrong. Other than that, I was happy with the one where they patched up the ceiling. I didn't even know that patch in the ceiling was included. So, that was kind of a bonus. It saved me a couple of bucks from having to have my painter do it. Also, the pipe thing worked out really well.

It was easy to submit the claim to American Home Shield for our washer dryer. But in the report, it came out different. Initially, Accord Appliance came in. But Steve’s Appliance fixed the dryer. AHS should stop using Accord. I had two instances that I had problems with them. Also, I'm having second thoughts about having the warranty because every time the contractors come out, I have to pay $100. And then if the first report is inconclusive, I have to get a second opinion and pay another $100. AHS should have choices on servicers for the area because they're contracted to only one, and now I have a problem with the second one here. I have a problem with my water heater right now.
The second contractors gave us a very high quote on the repair that’s not covered by American Home Shield. I wish is that you could sort of explain what the problem was but since that part of the service ticket doesn't go to the contracting agency, it makes sense not to have it. After I submitted the claim, the techs came out within at least a week and the service was relatively quick. They were able to repair the dishwasher that day. Unfortunately, they had to order a part for the oven and due to everything being in short supply at the moment, that took about two weeks for us to get it. I thought all my appliances were covered, and yet, there is no dishwasher choice for a problem like a leak or just function on the dishwasher. I'm not happy about that. It's something that might make me want to look for another company. Then when submitting a service request, sometimes online doesn't cover the subject matter that I have a concern with so I usually phone it in and make sure it sits in the right box. Sometimes I can't tell which box to tick in the choices. I wasn't sure if the leak was at the dishwasher or the sink. That's what made me phone in because it was a gray area and American Home Shield didn't clear that up for me. We took it as a leak at the sink itself because of the faucet problem I had.
The technicians that came out were very polite and on time. They notified me about coming like they said they would. They went the extra mile when I asked them to let me know they were in my front yard. It allowed us to put our big dogs away instead of getting to face them. The guy had a trainee with him. Both of them acted very professionally and did a very fine job. They verified my dishwasher was fine, all the hookups were good, everything was tight, and working properly.
I hired them for secondary work to be done and they did that the same day also. The cut-off valves under all the sinks in the house were not installed in any of lines when the house was built. I took the responsibility as the homeowner to install those so now, American Home Shield will have less to do. The service call turned into a $500 service call, and I was only out of pocket $100. That was quite pleasant. The additional work I had them do for me was over $400 worth of plumbing work in the house separately from what American Home Shield could do.
Also, American Home Shield has been able to provide local service. I don't have to wonder who they're going to call or if I'm gonna have to get stuck paying the bill upfront and they'll contract the bill, they'll get the guy on the phone, make payment arrangements or reimburse us. I've had immediate responses pretty quickly from the local folks within 24 hours usually so I’m really thankful that I have contract with them. I would just have to contact a plumber and deal with my dishwasher on my own.

My electrical circuits went out in half of my kitchen and instead of just me normally doing my due diligence and taking everything one step at a time, I instantly called American Home Shield. Hopwood Electric came out and snapped my breaker, that was all it was. Also, my bulb went out in the second layer of my ceiling fan and I've never changed the bulbs in that layer. They showed me how to change it out. They took the bulb out and gave it to me so I could take it to Home Depot. I've done business with them a couple of times when I have put in claims through American Home Shield.
It's just having this warranty is a waste of money. But it's a security that I choose to pay for. Over the years, when I first started with them, a site visit was $25 regardless of what it was that I had done. Now, the way they have it is broken down into $75 based on whatever feature or service. If they come out to look at the icemaker and the sink, that’s two different service calls. That’s $150. I can go on YouTube and figure it out myself by then and fix it for probably $5. I've been considering changing out and looking for somebody else. The value for what I get in comparison to the security and services that I receive are pretty much outweighed.
If you're a new homeowner, it may be something that you may need. But with me being here as long as I've been here, I'd rather take the $75, put it in a deposit in a separate savings account, and I’d be able to pay for whatever I need to have done in this house. I won’t have to pay anybody $75 each time they come out to change a light bulb or to pop a breaker. I just don’t see the value for the money like I did when I first started.

The washer was leaking when we ran it and it wasn't obvious to us as homeowners what the problem would be, so we called the American Home Shield. They dispatched the company quickly and the gentleman came and fixed it faster than I thought possible. I was pretty surprised. In general, home warranty companies use cheaper vendors and suppliers. And there's naturally going to be some that just underperform. But this vendor that AHS used on this particular call was a qualified professional vendor and I was quite happy with them.
Aside from that, American Home Shield's claims process was simple and straightforward. We've used them several times and on the whole, they generally are reliable and willing to help. There were also a few people with American Home Shield that have gone above and beyond for us when I had an issue in the past, particularly over a vendor that was not very good. It took several calls, but eventually, someone worked through the company's bureaucracy to really help us out and I still think of that individual very highly.

They determined that there's a hole in the line. They’re gonna have to come back and fix that, which they said is going to take about an hour and a half. They'll have to feed a new line down to the wall. They haven’t called me yet, but they're really nice and polite. I was real pleased with their courtesy.

I called Chesapeake Comfort Systems originally for ductwork because my daughters aren't getting air through their vents and for a leak in the condensation line. Then my thing kept freezing outside. That was strange because it didn't start doing that till they came over. The tech told me that I needed a sensor and a board in my outdoor unit replaced and he did it. He came out and he had to get another one because that one didn't work. Then he said I was out of coolant and it’d be $900 to fill it up. I asked if there was leak in it. He tested for leaks but he didn't see any.
So, then I had a service. The tech came and said there were tons of leaks inside and outside. There was no point in trying to fix it and there was nothing he could do to keep it going because it was so messed up and it would just keep leaking out. I just have to get a new one. I called American Home Shield and asked what was going on. Every time that he will come out, something else is going on, and something's going wrong. They said they need to verify that it's actually leaking so they sent him out again. He kept saying that there were leaks inside and outside, that I have to get a whole new system, and he got to talk to his boss about the cost. Then it just kept going around and around with them.
I said I wanted a second opinion because this isn't making any sense and I was getting really frustrated at this point. American Home Shield didn't wanna give it to me yet so they sent out Chesapeake Comfort Systems again, and they were gonna measure my thing for the indoor unit only because they said they could fix the outdoor unit, even though I was told there was no way they could do it. They could just do a couple of things to keep a little bit of coolant in it, but it would still be leaking. All of a sudden, I was completely 100% out of coolant and my AC stopped working, when I was told I had a couple pounds left just a week prior. I begged that I needed a second opinion.
Finally, Vic’s Heating and Cooling came to my house. They said I needed a whole new system and they would put in that I need a whole new system replacement. Then I called them because I didn't hear from anybody. They said they told AHS what was wrong and it was something different from the first people and they got kicked off the ticket somehow. I called AHS and asked about it. They told me that what Vic said was the same thing as the first company said. I said no because the first company only said the indoor unit needed to be replaced and that they would just put coolant and a couple of nuts and bolts on the outdoor unit. They also tried to tell me that I had to pay them three grand out of pocket because AHS wouldn't cover my outdoor unit, that I had to go through them to get my unit, which was not right. I would not do that with them and I would rather have a second opinion. AHS said okay.
I went down a line of a bunch of different people through phone redirections and I finally got ahold of a woman who was gonna help me. Her name is Jessica. I've got emails from her. She's been contacting Vic. He's been talking to her. I've been talking to both of them. I spoke to another woman today who said that nobody's heard from Vic, he hasn't put in his full diagnosis, and that he only put in the outdoor unit needs to be replaced, not the indoor unit. She said she needed to hear that from Vic. I was put on hold and she called him, then left a message. She told me that she couldn't get ahold of him, so I sent Vic a text message asking what is going on and to please help me.
He called me personally and told me that he put his information into them twice. He said the last woman he spoke to was like a squirrel and she didn't know what was going on. He thought that was where I got messed up down the line and that he would call AHS again and speak to somebody and hopefully get this going soon. I told him to please do that because it's about to get really hot outside and I've got kids at home doing virtual school. I've been going through this for a couple months now. I had to go to Lowe's to buy a $300 window unit and it's only heating the portion on my house ‘cause we got a 2,100-square-foot one.

We had a refrigerator issue and Sears came out. They were timely and showed up the day that it was scheduled for, so I thought they were good. I can understand the scheduling challenges. I was out about a month or so from the time that I called to schedule, so that was understandable. Also, there were a lot of technicians that they sent out. It wasn't the same guy for the same problem.
However, every time I'd call, my claim was going to be processed to whatever next level decision needed to be made. No one ever called me back. I had to call and then I got the same thing. After the third call, the rep finally said that there's a 21-business-day period that they have to evaluate whether they can find the part or not, and then they will evaluate if they will replace the item. Well, I had been waiting almost a month at that point in time and finally, someone told me. I made several calls to Sears, and they were going to evaluate it, then their evaluation would go to American Home Shield.
It could have been better that in the beginning, those reps were trained to say, “This is how the system works. This is what we're up against. We were able to locate two of the three parts. We can't locate a third. If we can't locate the third, this will be your option. But per contract, we have that 21-business-day evaluation time.” I would have understood. More transparency would have been better. Then I didn't call for 21 days. I called on the 22nd day and then things moved along. However, it was really frustrating and annoying having to find time and it's a two-hour wait whenever I'd call for the next representative. But there were some times that the lines were not busy and someone picked up within a minute of my call.
I'm thinking that American Home Shield is telling Sears to tell the customers this in hopes that they'll go away. Also, I got the sense that the reps that I was talking to wanted to help, but their hands were tied and didn't wanna lose their job. They were going down a company Q&A. If client says this, respond with this. So, whoever the executive is in part of that training should be much better in training people that really wanna do a good job for other people instead of having them lie. But then American Home Shield fulfilled their part of the contract so I am now happy. They followed through on what I had signed up for.

I've been without hot water for a week. The techs are coming out today.
The only reason I got American Home Shield was because I thought they took priority over all the other ones, but they don't. The techs were already here once and said they fixed the problem. I called the very next day and they said they couldn't get to me until Tuesday. I called American Home Shield and they said there was nothing they could do about it. He then said he couldn't do it and left. That was a waste of money. I called Home Shield and told them what happened. They said that the plumber came out so I couldn't get my money back. If there is another issue in the future, they can come out. But they didn't fix the issue that was there so why would they come out again?
We were going to have to have a construction project. Our contractor was going to have to cut the countertop to get the sink out. I called Home Shield and they said they don't cover that. If it was a plumbing issue then they would cover it. But because it's a crack in the sink, the rep said that was considered maintenance. I got frustrated and dropped that claim after that.
Until this issue, I've been extremely happy with Home Shield. They are amazing. I can call and within 48 hours, I'll have somebody calling me and telling me, "Let's set up a time to come out." You can also go online and tell Home Shield what the problem is. They take care of the rest. Everything's so easy. If they can't fix something, they replace it. The company enjoying wasting customer's time by putting them for hours on a phone call with customer services whose reading non-make sense scripts ends with the customer paid additional costs or do it himself. I spent more than 10 hours following up with my request until I decided to do it by myself which cost me less and save me time. They don't cover appliances in reality. I typically submit claims over the phone. I understand how work is outsourced to other countries but I sometimes find it very difficult to communicate with the person on there because of their accent. A lot of times, their accent is heavy. Also, I did not like the process of when I called about my dishwasher, where they sent me a link and asked me to take a video of what was going on. I don't know what was wrong with the machine. I know it was leaking. And they asked me to do a lot of, “Take a video from this angle, take a picture from that angle.” I don't want to do that. I want someone to come out and assess the problem.
Recently, the guy from Fleming appliance came out, identified the problem, and said he needed to order parts. But it was over a month before I heard from them. I had to call American Home Shield several times to find out what was going on because the date that they gave me when the parts should be in, which was April 10th, passed. And no one ever told me anything. They just finished it last week, from February. Last week was the end of April. So, I wasn't satisfied with how long it took. I understand they had to order parts. But someone should have reached out to me, either from Fleming or from AHS, to say, “Hey, this is what's going on. We apologize for the delay. But it's parts and we can't do anything about that. We're backlogged.” But the actual service of the person coming to my house was great. On-time, courteous, perfect.
When my stovetop and microwave were not working, it was a one-month and a two-month process. AHS should have something to cover the consumer in a case where they couldn't cook. I couldn't microwave. I couldn't put anything in the oven. I couldn't put anything on the stovetop. American Home Shield is a good deal. Just make sure you read the fine print on the contract about what is not covered.

I've had bad experience in the past with American Home Shield. We went through a bunch of hoops and we're still trying to go through hoops with them. So I was extremely concerned about doing a claim with them again. But it turned out for the best. So I was very happy. The claim for our air conditioning unit was great. It was unbelievably fast and helpful.
We had a previous claim that they sent a plumber out to. But the plumber was a real jerk. He was real obnoxious and an unprofessional individual who claimed that I must have broke the pipe. Then he got out of here as fast as he could. We had to get another plumber to come out. But by then, we were getting water damage on the upstairs bathroom. So we called in our contractor to get it fixed as quickly as possible. That was an emergency situation and it took that first plumber 49 hours to get here. That was well outside of Home Shield's 24-hour for emergency. Home Shield ran us around and ran us around and ran us around. Meanwhile, water damage was accruing in the upstairs bathroom and running down into the garage. So we got that fixed.
The second plumber that Home Shield sent out showed up and said it was obviously a wear and tear function and the wearing of the item. Home Shield accepted the claim and I had tried to get the invoice paid for fixing the problem. But Home Shield has run us around. This is going on three months now trying to get this other invoice paid that our contractor did it. It's $857 and they keep going, "Well, they need to call this number," or "No, they call this number. No, call this number." But every time my contractor calls, it's not the right number.

So, I would appreciate it if there was a better way to get out of the automated system and talk to a person without first paying my deductible. The issues that we've had with AHS have always been related to whether the contractors that they sent out were confident. There has been times when they've sent out several different companies with technicians that didn't have any idea what they were doing and it sometimes took three appointments before they got somebody out there who knew how to do a repair.
AHS should do a better job of screening the contractors that they contract with. We had some bad experiences with some of the technicians that AHS sent although eventually, the repairs were made. But it was about the same with my previous company. It depended on what the repair was. Sometimes, the issue would get fixed the first time but often, it would take several different people to come out to be able to fix it.

I asked him directly not to confer with my tenants and he did, and it has created a firestorm with some tenant. I had two other companies come out to confirm that there was no mold in the area or in the attic.
On the other hand, the tech from Active Air Heating was professional and on time. He diagnosed the problem fairly shortly. He confirmed that there was no mold and he recommended it to be replaced but American Home Shield declined to approve the claim. I was two seconds away from cancelling AHS. We had a leaking shutoff valve. The initial plumbers that were dispatched was a company called F6 Plumbing. They were on time and very courteous. But their solution to fixing the problem was cutting out the drywall and putting a new valve. It just so happens the valve is in the kitchen, and it's wallpaper. Why would they want to replace the valve instead of replacing the internal washer in the valve? They said it was their company policy that they didn't repair that. They just cut out and replace the old one. Well, I was not happy with that at all and they left. I requested a second opinion and that's where Lonestar Water Services got notified. They came out very promptly, replaced the washer in the valve, and solved the whole problem in about 15 minutes.
American Home Shield should continue to vet the service providers that they have making sure that they're up to standard. Our house is fairly new and the likelihood of something going majorly wrong with my appliances and different things are pretty slim. So right now, we're at loss because we only made one claim.

Same Day Air Repair was dispatched and they found we had a filter that wasn't sitting right in the unit and it was making a sound like an insect, like maybe a bearing or something that needed to be oiled because the sound was coming from the inside. I thought it needed to be done before something big happened. I'm waiting for the noise to go away, giving it some time. I changed the filter out too. It's still not sitting in there right.
Then I have gotten some weird emails like it was AHS. They're allowing people to access their data. I found it really confusing. I've also got somebody chasing me around for water mains. They're shaking me down for money. One of them was acting like them for renewal. I finally figured out it wasn't AHS, it was somebody else posing as them. Overall, American Home Shield is working really well. I recommended them on Nextdoor.com. I wish they'd run an ad because people are always looking for help and they're getting snookered. It'd be worth the investment to hit Nextdoor.com.

The freezer part of our refrigerator stopped cooling so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield through their app and let them know what was going on. I let them know the model number of the refrigerator and I also paid the service fee, which is just 100 bucks. They make the process really easy online and it was nice. American Home Shield sent me who they assigned to my claim. It was Sears. I get a date and time that's available. As long as we accept that, we're good. In this case, I accepted because that was the soonest that technicians could come. They made sure that we were good with the time that the technicians would come out.
A Sears guy came in and he was very professional and efficient. Once he checked it all out, he said he could fix the problem. It was gonna take him a couple of hours which was not a problem since I work from home. He was able to fix the freezer the same day, which was much better than the service we had the last time with American Home Shield. This experience was night and day from my last experience. American Home Shield redeemed themselves and I would absolutely recommend it. This was definitely much better and very much appreciated.
The freezer was fixed within the same day. Sometimes, technicians come out and they have to order a part. But this Sears guy had everything he could possibly need with him so well-done. The refrigerator and the freezer are working fine. When we had the issue with our freezer, we took a big loss. But the fact that the repair was done within a week of putting in the claim was pretty good.

I also signed up for text messages, so I get text alerts when appointments are confirmed. Also, the website is easy to navigate. AHS sent the person over. He looked at the element and got the information on the oven, and told me that it would take four to five days for the part to come in. It took less than that for it to actually come in. And then they made an appointment, came and repaired it. The tech was done in 15 minutes. It's $100 every time they come out, so I have to make sure that I am prepared to pay that. We live out in the country and AHS helped cover my well pump, stove, refrigerator repair, and pool pump. That's just over the washer and the dryer over the years. It's nice to know that when something does go bad and it's not something easily fixed, they're just a phone call or a website away. The only issue I had was when my air conditioner went out and parts had to be repaired. They ended up sending the wrong part. This was, of course, during the summer and 100 degrees outside. But AHS was really good with regards with reimbursing extra fans and that type of a thing to get through it because they realized it wasn't our fault and things were taking an unusual, lengthy period of time. They're above and beyond.
Recently, we had a dryer that was not igniting. The response was fairly quick because I provided the make and the model beforehand and the symptoms. The tech had an idea of what the issue was, which ended up being the igniter. He had the part with him, and he was in and out in less than an hour and everything was repaired to our satisfaction.

I'm not always sure that American Home Shield is going to cover everything but for the last couple of times, they've come through. We had some incidents where we called them and they were like, " Well, we don't cover that," or, "We can't be there in many days." There was one time when they didn't have a plumber on the weekend. It was like, "Well, you're supposed to. That's why we have this contract." They call me but that's not responding to the emergency in 24 hours, that's just responding to my phone call and that's not good enough. I tried to say, "Well, one of my contacts said they would get working on it within a certain amount of time, then they should authorize another contractor that was outside network," and they wouldn't do that. So, that was a fight. But the last couple of times I've used them, they showed up when they said they were going to show up. I'm still building up the trust thing with AHS though.

Our refrigerator is a very large KitchenAid like Sub-Zeros. One of the lights inside was flashing and said, “Call for service”. The tech came a day after AHS released the service and he adjusted the temperature. Our temperature was off and my husband turned it up so it wouldn't be going so much. The tech wanted to make sure that that wasn't the issue and he said to give him a call back and let him know if that light didn't stop flashing. The next morning, it was still flashing so I called him back and and he came back the following day after the first time he was here. He figured out what was wrong and repaired it. So we had really good service with Hornet.
At another time, on of the eyes wasn't lighting on our gas cooktop and when the tech came, he worked on it but he didn't come with the right tools. He ended up breaking something on that one eye that needed repair. He broke one of the metal pieces he was taking out and he said he didn't have the right tool. Then he came back again but he couldn't fix it. He couldn't find the parts anymore for that one eye that was broken and he came out three times already.
So now, I still have a broken gas cooktop that only had three eyes. We are eight in our household, so I have to buy a new cooktop now. To replace the whole thing, I've got to get a granite man out. Then I've got to get a carpenter out to change the whole island because they're not making that particular cooktop anymore. It's a high end appliance and they changed the sizes out there of that particular design. So it's kind of an open ticket for us and I don't even know if we're still on the book for it. But it is an unresolved situation.
One time, we had a pool guy out that told us we needed all this stuff and we wanted to get a second opinion because we didn't think that was right. And when the second opinion guy came out, he fixed the whole thing and did an excellent job. So that's the only pool person we use now and we got them through American Home Shield. All in all, we've had good experiences and bad experiences with things.
We've had American Home Shield for years and the cost has gone up a lot. We have shopped around for other services and the other companies that we've talked to have costs that are reasonable. But we get constant calls from these companies and they're harassing us so we're not going with them. And unless we can find someone that does the same kind of service but better pricing, we’d consider that.
But it's really important to have a home warranty and over the many years we've had American Home Shield, they have improved. They're getting people out to us quicker and answering the phone quicker. But on the website, you can say plumbing but you can't specify what kind of plumbing and it's really hard if there are certain issues going on because if they would break it down better, we would know how to go about it. They should give us a comment box so we can say this and they can say that would be under a certain category. It would mean more information then the people can come with the supplies they need to our house, and not come and have to tell us that they have to come back.
Despite that, we're mostly pretty satisfied with AHS. Right now, we have a leaky faucet in my master bathroom and it has some issues. I was going to buy a new one and have them replace it. But I don't know what I need to do with that. To me, that seems like a plumbing issue that would be a good thing to include in the coverage.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

Sometimes, I would like to be able to talk with somebody on the phone. Not only American Home Shield, but some of the companies now do not really have people that will answer the phone. They want you to do everything online. I'm kind of old school. A lot of times, I have a question that cannot be answered through a chat. So, I'd like to speak to a knowledgeable person. Also a lot of times, there are people on the phone that don't know anything or can't speak English. That really ticks me off.
So far, every time I've put in a claim to American Home Shield, the people have been pretty timely in responding and the vendors have been good. I just got to having my air conditioner serviced and that vendor was good and friendly. Sometimes, you can get a vendor who has a pretty bad attitude. Luckily, the last couple of ones I had from AHS were good. On my recent claim, N&K Appliance Service installed the icemaker. It works. It just took a long time for a part to be approved. I hate that AHS patches stuff forever before replacing it. But that's not just AHS. I've had other companies before and it's the same philosophy.

The contact from the appliance and the plumber reached out to me because I had two claims. And then, they finished it within two days. So fast.
The contractor was professional. They wore their masks. They asked me questions about what was going on. Once they evaluated what the problem was, they were very clear as to what the next steps would be. They scheduled an appointment to come back and install the parts or fix the issue with the plumbing. They were here no more than 20 minutes. And everything is working great. My experience has been great and I wasn't aware that this was available. I noticed that there was water on my master bathroom floor and the trim of the baseboard was wet. The house was newly painted so the paint was chipping in that area. Also, the faucet was leaking hot and cold on one sink and hot on another. I put in a claim to American Home Shield specifically for the water in the toilet because I didn't want any more water damage. I did that online and I was assigned to SWAT. They weren't going to be able to get out to me until the following week and I thought that was not a good thing because there was water leaking. I was especially concerned about the toilet.
I called American Home Shield and they were able to call SWAT and they were able to get somebody out that day that would be in the area. I was really impressed because I was leery of this policy. I thought I wouldn't be able to use that bathroom for a week until somebody got out here. But it was handled right away. The gentleman who came looked at the toilet and saw the water damage. He saw the towel that I put down but we couldn't get the toilet to leak anymore or to see where any water was coming out. We had stopped using the toilet altogether until somebody came out. The gentleman said to use the toilet and see if we can make the leak happen. Sometimes, it could be a leaking seal somewhere and it would seal itself.
In the past, I had a toilet where the base was cracked. It was a little seep and all of a sudden, the whole base broke and it flooded the whole bathroom. I'm cautious about that because it was major water damage to the home. So when I saw water on the floor this time, I immediately called and told American Home Shield that I needed somebody to look at it because I didn't want that to be the issue. It was like about one bath towel that actually got the water up then I didn't see any more.
The SWAT guy said to keep an eye on it and if I see any more water, to take a picture of it then to call back within 30 days. It's still under 30 days of them servicing my claim. I've been using the toilet and I've been watching it. I don't have any more water that's leaking from there. As for the sinks, the gentleman changed out whatever needed to be changed and told me that those were covered.
Given this particular instance with American Home Shield, I was very pleasantly surprised. When you have a policy for the first year on your house, you would think you're not going to get it again because no one is ever going to take care of you. But American Home Shield was fair and they opened my eyes. I would give them another opportunity. As a matter of fact, I put in a couple of requests to get done and I have a different outlook that they really are going to honor things. If it's something that's not covered, they just say it's in the policy that it's not covered. You can get somebody to come and help you with it but you have to pay for it, which is fine. Right now, I would recommend American Home Shield.

I'm glad that I have American Home Shield. With my recent claim, the refrigerator part wasn't cool enough. The tech came out and he needed a new hinge on the door. It wasn't closing properly. He did that and I still felt like it wasn't cool enough, so he came back out and fiddled the register on the side. It's not quite as cool as I would like, but it's okay. I kept thinking I should call him back out one more time and see if there's anything else he could check.
I was just a little frustrated when my air conditioner went out. There was a Freon leak and by the time the tech started calling me how much it would cost to find the leak and the Freon, I decided to just get a new one. I tried to call American Home Shield and they gave me a number to call just to double-check with who they’ve dealt with. The lady said they couldn't come out until it was 70 degrees at least. Since the weather wasn't cooperating, she suggested I cancel and then call back when the weather was gonna be okay, so I did that.
By the time I called again to reschedule, they wouldn't let me have that company and so I was upset about that 'cause I thought I could have some money towards a new air conditioner. I know AHS wouldn't replace the thing. It didn't work out and the company was scheduled to come out. It was gonna get hot again, and I didn't wanna be without air conditioning, so I went ahead and had Vogel Heating & Cooling put in a new one for me. I didn't call American Home Shield.

I had other claims with AHS and I had the electric dryer checked out and the tech said it was fine and even though it was old, it could last another 20 years. Then, I had trouble with the washing machine. It was on its last legs so I had that replaced. I trust the company who AHS have had as service people to give me the right information. It's better than trying to call somebody out the Yellow Pages. You don't know who you're going to get or what you're going to get. AHS has always expedited the service and they’ve taken care of everything. Even when I had the locks on the doors changed, they got a locksmith out. It was a comforting experience. The repairman took four days to come out for my claim. He indicated that they didn't get the work order till that morning. I was notified that the claim had been assigned the same day that I put it in. But he said that American Home Shield told them that the first company they chose didn't have enough plumbers to come out and assess the problem. The first repairman came to assess the problem with the water heater but they didn't pick up that the pipe was also leaking. So I had to put in another work order about the leaking pipe and pay two different deductibles.
The plumbing company was waiting on the water heater. When I called to inquire about the water heater, the plumbing company indicated that they hadn't got approval from American Home Shield. So I called AHS and they indicated that they would reach out to the plumbing company because they indicated that they hadn't received the work order. So somebody was not being truthful in this process.
AHS reached out to the company on the day that I called which was on a Thursday, the 29th of April. I then got an email indicating that there were some things that they weren't going to pay for but nobody decided to call me to tell me it was three things that they weren't paying for. I read the email that Sunday and then I called the warranty company to inquire about the three items that I had to pay out of pocket and someone was there to answer my questions.
I had to wait till that Monday, May 3, to call the plumbing company because they weren't open on the weekend. I called that Monday to know when they were coming out to install the water heater. They indicated that they were waiting for the water heater to come in and that they would call and let me know when they would have it. It took a week for the water heater to coming in. I was given an appointment day and a timeframe. It was on a Wednesday at 10 o'clock. But I received a text message indicating someone was en route on May 3, the day that I made that initial phone call, to come to do the water heater. So I called to make sure that my appointment was scheduled for that Wednesday instead of that Monday. That was confusing.

The technician immediately recognized the problem and replaced it. He was only out here for 10 minutes and fixed my issue and it was more than worth the cost of entry. He even offered to do additional stuff and he checked my Freon levels. He made sure that I was tuned up and good to go for the whole summer. I had a claim previous time last year about the beginning of summer and it was with AMP Mechanical too. My Delta T just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. So I wanted to check the Freon levels and they came out and they did a fine job as well.

I signed up with Home Shield in January. I also had them a couple of years back then I changed to Choice, but we didn't like that company. They were a pain in the neck. I didn't even send them one repair all year and I have to call them 10 times before they even send somebody, which was too long. On the other hand, AHS is very prompt and they take care of the problems and we can talk to somebody else. If there is an emergency, they can put it on emergency calls, so that's nice. When we had a problem with our boiler, we called AHS. They sent somebody and it was taken care of.
Taking care of our members is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Everything went through fine when I submitted a claim with AHS. It was good when the tech came out. He replaced the faucet and he had all the parts. Everything was good.

I had American Home Shield for at least 15 years when I had my house in Chino and then I sold it. I'm now leasing a property and then I bought another one. But this time around, I've called them and I ordered it, and I wanted the $75 service fee and they ended up giving me $100 service fee. I tried to get that changed and it took a lot of phone calls. I don't understand how it could be so difficult. Two months went by and I hadn't used the service. Then they wanted to charge me an extra $10 for the months that I didn't use it. Instead of $33.74, it's gonna be $43.74. Why should I do that? But I just wanted to get this changed and get it done right so we did it. I approved $20, and then the 43.74 as the monthly charge.
Well, this month, I get charged with those amounts. But then again, that same day, they charged it again. I called them and it took a lot to get the woman to understand what I was talking about. She said they charged me for June and July and I said no. It said 5-2 on all these charges on my bank account and on their own statement to me. She just couldn't get it. I told her all I wanted was a credit. She said she had to call her supervisor. It took a little bit but we got it done now. I haven't seen the credit yet but I'm expecting it.
I called them recently and said I needed a service call for my refrigerator and my dishwasher. Once I placed it, I got an email as to who they assigned that job to. At that time, I called them right away and we set up an appointment. Unfortunately, my mother was very ill and we had some issues going on here 'cause she was living with us, and she ended up passing. I had to call the contractor and tell them that I can't have them at that time and I explained to them about my mom. They totally understood and said to call them when I want them to come out. I did that and Daniel came. He took a look at what the problems were. He ordered the parts and was back in a week and fixed them quickly.
The refrigerator would freeze. Even if we adjusted it, it was getting cold. There was a little flapper valve that controls the temperature and has a little rotary motor that he replaced. Since that, everything's been good. With the dishwasher, he had to replace the wheels on the rack on the top. But we didn't notice that there are two wheels missing on the bottom rack so I need to call him back and tell him about that. I just haven't had a chance 'cause I've been working on other issues.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.
