    I typically submit claims over the phone. I understand how work is outsourced to other countries but I sometimes find it very difficult to communicate with the person on there because of their accent. A lot of times, their accent is heavy. Also, I did not like the process of when I called about my dishwasher, where they sent me a link and asked me to take a video of what was going on. I don't know what was wrong with the machine. I know it was leaking. And they asked me to do a lot of, “Take a video from this angle, take a picture from that angle.” I don't want to do that. I want someone to come out and assess the problem.

    Recently, the guy from Fleming appliance came out, identified the problem, and said he needed to order parts. But it was over a month before I heard from them. I had to call American Home Shield several times to find out what was going on because the date that they gave me when the parts should be in, which was April 10th, passed. And no one ever told me anything. They just finished it last week, from February. Last week was the end of April. So, I wasn't satisfied with how long it took. I understand they had to order parts. But someone should have reached out to me, either from Fleming or from AHS, to say, “Hey, this is what's going on. We apologize for the delay. But it's parts and we can't do anything about that. We're backlogged.” But the actual service of the person coming to my house was great. On-time, courteous, perfect.

    When my stovetop and microwave were not working, it was a one-month and a two-month process. AHS should have something to cover the consumer in a case where they couldn't cook. I couldn't microwave. I couldn't put anything in the oven. I couldn't put anything on the stovetop. American Home Shield is a good deal. Just make sure you read the fine print on the contract about what is not covered.

    Whenever I have a claim with AHS, I prefer calling in and it's pretty simple to do. But some of the contractors that they pick aren’t the best. If I was calling somebody to come out, I might not call the same type of contractors that they're sending. Other than that, I recently had a leaking main sewer line and the techs from Bishop Plumbing took care of it. They did a good job.

    American Home Shield was gonna put out the service for three more days but I explained to them that it was both toilets and they got the contractor out the next day. The toilet wouldn't flush and it would make this horrible knocking sound when you go to my bathroom and try to flush the toilet. They fixed the issues and they were awesome. Also, the handle on my bathroom toilet hit and they fixed it. They went above and beyond and they were nice. I'm newly separated in a divorce and I had no clue what to do. So, thank goodness that we have AHS.

    I had an air condition issue and American Home Shield sent out two different people. The first contractor said that there was mold but there was none. I asked him directly not to confer with my tenants and he did, and it has created a firestorm with some tenant. I had two other companies come out to confirm that there was no mold in the area or in the attic.

    On the other hand, the tech from Active Air Heating was professional and on time. He diagnosed the problem fairly shortly. He confirmed that there was no mold and he recommended it to be replaced but American Home Shield declined to approve the claim. I was two seconds away from cancelling AHS. The other issue that I have is that every single person I've spoken to with AHS is from the Philippines. The reps are professional but it's very difficult to understand what they're saying. So for all these reasons, I'm not happy. People should not go with AHS.

    We had a leaking shutoff valve. The initial plumbers that were dispatched was a company called F6 Plumbing. They were on time and very courteous. But their solution to fixing the problem was cutting out the drywall and putting a new valve. It just so happens the valve is in the kitchen, and it's wallpaper. Why would they want to replace the valve instead of replacing the internal washer in the valve? They said it was their company policy that they didn't repair that. They just cut out and replace the old one. Well, I was not happy with that at all and they left. I requested a second opinion and that's where Lonestar Water Services got notified. They came out very promptly, replaced the washer in the valve, and solved the whole problem in about 15 minutes.

    American Home Shield should continue to vet the service providers that they have making sure that they're up to standard. There's been very few that have come out that I would consider to be unacceptable. But most of them that have been out have been very good and fixed the problems very quickly. I've been pretty happy with the service they've all provided.

    Same Day Air Repair was dispatched and they found we had a filter that wasn't sitting right in the unit and it was making a sound like an insect, like maybe a bearing or something that needed to be oiled because the sound was coming from the inside. I thought it needed to be done before something big happened. I'm waiting for the noise to go away, giving it some time. I changed the filter out too. It's still not sitting in there right.

    Then I have gotten some weird emails like it was AHS. They're allowing people to access their data. I found it really confusing. I've also got somebody chasing me around for water mains. They're shaking me down for money. One of them was acting like them for renewal. I finally figured out it wasn't AHS, it was somebody else posing as them. Overall, American Home Shield is working really well. I recommended them on Nextdoor.com. I wish they'd run an ad because people are always looking for help and they're getting snookered. It'd be worth the investment to hit Nextdoor.com.

    The contractor replaced some part of the AC that was burned out. They replaced it there. The tech was knowledgeable and professional. The repair work was excellent and made the AC work again. However, I would like getting a receipt. I didn't get any form of what was exactly done for my record. Other than that, when something breaks down, I can just call and American Home Shield sends someone to fix it.

    The freezer part of our refrigerator stopped cooling so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield through their app and let them know what was going on. I let them know the model number of the refrigerator and I also paid the service fee, which is just 100 bucks. They make the process really easy online and it was nice. American Home Shield sent me who they assigned to my claim. It was Sears. I get a date and time that's available. As long as we accept that, we're good. In this case, I accepted because that was the soonest that technicians could come. They made sure that we were good with the time that the technicians would come out.

    A Sears guy came in and he was very professional and efficient. Once he checked it all out, he said he could fix the problem. It was gonna take him a couple of hours which was not a problem since I work from home. He was able to fix the freezer the same day, which was much better than the service we had the last time with American Home Shield. This experience was night and day from my last experience. American Home Shield redeemed themselves and I would absolutely recommend it. This was definitely much better and very much appreciated.

    The freezer was fixed within the same day. Sometimes, technicians come out and they have to order a part. But this Sears guy had everything he could possibly need with him so well-done. The refrigerator and the freezer are working fine. When we had the issue with our freezer, we took a big loss. But the fact that the repair was done within a week of putting in the claim was pretty good.

    Sometimes, I would like to be able to talk with somebody on the phone. Not only American Home Shield, but some of the companies now do not really have people that will answer the phone. They want you to do everything online. I'm kind of old school. A lot of times, I have a question that cannot be answered through a chat. So, I'd like to speak to a knowledgeable person. Also a lot of times, there are people on the phone that don't know anything or can't speak English. That really ticks me off.

    So far, every time I've put in a claim to American Home Shield, the people have been pretty timely in responding and the vendors have been good. I just got to having my air conditioner serviced and that vendor was good and friendly. Sometimes, you can get a vendor who has a pretty bad attitude. Luckily, the last couple of ones I had from AHS were good. On my recent claim, N&K Appliance Service installed the icemaker. It works. It just took a long time for a part to be approved. I hate that AHS patches stuff forever before replacing it. But that's not just AHS. I've had other companies before and it's the same philosophy.

    The website is very intuitive. You simply just submit. It has a couple of options to choose from. And then you also could input additional information. I put in my claim, then I got a response within 24 hours with an email saying that American Home Shield assigned me a contact. The contact from the appliance and the plumber reached out to me because I had two claims. And then, they finished it within two days. So fast.

    The contractor was professional. They wore their masks. They asked me questions about what was going on. Once they evaluated what the problem was, they were very clear as to what the next steps would be. They scheduled an appointment to come back and install the parts or fix the issue with the plumbing. They were here no more than 20 minutes. And everything is working great. My experience has been great and I wasn't aware that this was available. I'm going to spread the word to those I know that own homes and suggest that my experiences have been great so far and that they roll with AHS.

    Once I called in a work order to AHS, it took several days for the repair person to come. Then, when the techs came in, they knew the model of our refrigerator, it took them another several days to get back and get parts and come with that. But All Coast Air came out recently and the tech was great. He did the seasonal tune-up to our heating and air system and he was on time, professional and a very nice guy. He did a great job. I've always had good results if it's a heating and air issue. Anything outside of that, like a kitchen appliance, it seems like it's never quick.

    There are times when I call in to make a claim to American Home Shield when I need to talk to a human being for one reason or another. It's an ordeal to try to do that. So, I would appreciate it if there was a better way to get out of the automated system and talk to a person without first paying my deductible. The issues that we've had with AHS have always been related to whether the contractors that they sent out were confident. There has been times when they've sent out several different companies with technicians that didn't have any idea what they were doing and it sometimes took three appointments before they got somebody out there who knew how to do a repair.

    AHS should do a better job of screening the contractors that they contract with. We had some bad experiences with some of the technicians that AHS sent although eventually, the repairs were made. But it was about the same with my previous company. It depended on what the repair was. Sometimes, the issue would get fixed the first time but often, it would take several different people to come out to be able to fix it.

    I noticed that there was water on my master bathroom floor and the trim of the baseboard was wet. The house was newly painted so the paint was chipping in that area. Also, the faucet was leaking hot and cold on one sink and hot on another. I put in a claim to American Home Shield specifically for the water in the toilet because I didn't want any more water damage. I did that online and I was assigned to SWAT. They weren't going to be able to get out to me until the following week and I thought that was not a good thing because there was water leaking. I was especially concerned about the toilet.

    I called American Home Shield and they were able to call SWAT and they were able to get somebody out that day that would be in the area. I was really impressed because I was leery of this policy. I thought I wouldn't be able to use that bathroom for a week until somebody got out here. But it was handled right away. The gentleman who came looked at the toilet and saw the water damage. He saw the towel that I put down but we couldn't get the toilet to leak anymore or to see where any water was coming out. We had stopped using the toilet altogether until somebody came out. The gentleman said to use the toilet and see if we can make the leak happen. Sometimes, it could be a leaking seal somewhere and it would seal itself.

    In the past, I had a toilet where the base was cracked. It was a little seep and all of a sudden, the whole base broke and it flooded the whole bathroom. I'm cautious about that because it was major water damage to the home. So when I saw water on the floor this time, I immediately called and told American Home Shield that I needed somebody to look at it because I didn't want that to be the issue. It was like about one bath towel that actually got the water up then I didn't see any more.

    The SWAT guy said to keep an eye on it and if I see any more water, to take a picture of it then to call back within 30 days. It's still under 30 days of them servicing my claim. I've been using the toilet and I've been watching it. I don't have any more water that's leaking from there. As for the sinks, the gentleman changed out whatever needed to be changed and told me that those were covered.

    Given this particular instance with American Home Shield, I was very pleasantly surprised. When you have a policy for the first year on your house, you would think you're not going to get it again because no one is ever going to take care of you. But American Home Shield was fair and they opened my eyes. I would give them another opportunity. As a matter of fact, I put in a couple of requests to get done and I have a different outlook that they really are going to honor things. If it's something that's not covered, they just say it's in the policy that it's not covered. You can get somebody to come and help you with it but you have to pay for it, which is fine. Right now, I would recommend American Home Shield.

    I have a KitchenAid stove and it has two lower ovens. The gas cooktop portion but both the ovens weren't working. So I called it in and American Home Shield sent a service representative out. He determined that it was the ignition on both of the units. So he replaced them and it's been working fine ever since. So I'm pleased. Our premium right now with American Home Shield is a little over 500 a year and then we pay $100 for the service. Our house is fairly new and the likelihood of something going majorly wrong with my appliances and different things are pretty slim. So right now, we're at loss because we only made one claim.

    The element at the bottom of the oven burned out. I put in my request. I like that American Home Shield gets my information to the contractor, and that they get in touch with me quickly. I also signed up for text messages, so I get text alerts when appointments are confirmed. Also, the website is easy to navigate. AHS sent the person over. He looked at the element and got the information on the oven, and told me that it would take four to five days for the part to come in. It took less than that for it to actually come in. And then they made an appointment, came and repaired it. The tech was done in 15 minutes. It's $100 every time they come out, so I have to make sure that I am prepared to pay that. It's not a lot, but it depends on what's going on.

    My freezer and refrigerator weren't cooling. The technician came and was very polite and professional. It still is not cooling and I have to wait for Lowe's E-Gift card to get to my email. Nonetheless, having a home warranty is very reliable. If something breaks, it's a good thing to have. I would highly suggest getting American Home Shield.

    We live out in the country and AHS helped cover my well pump, stove, refrigerator repair, and pool pump. That's just over the washer and the dryer over the years. It's nice to know that when something does go bad and it's not something easily fixed, they're just a phone call or a website away. The only issue I had was when my air conditioner went out and parts had to be repaired. They ended up sending the wrong part. This was, of course, during the summer and 100 degrees outside. But AHS was really good with regards with reimbursing extra fans and that type of a thing to get through it because they realized it wasn't our fault and things were taking an unusual, lengthy period of time. They're above and beyond.

    Recently, we had a dryer that was not igniting. The response was fairly quick because I provided the make and the model beforehand and the symptoms. The tech had an idea of what the issue was, which ended up being the igniter. He had the part with him, and he was in and out in less than an hour and everything was repaired to our satisfaction.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been excellent. The best thing is that each time we've called, they had someone show up the next day. It hasn't been like, “They'll be there in a week,” or “They'll be there in four days.” But the first call I made for my stovetop, I had a bad experience with the tech that showed up, just not being knowledgeable and not being helpful. He told me to go to Home Depot to buy some parts. I was very disappointed in that. But AHS eventually sent another tech who did the complete job and fixed everything for us. Efficiency Experts also came out for my AC claim and they were awesome.

    We called American Home Shield when my microwave broke. The process was very simple and easy. My assistant took photos on the problem and sent them then Randolph came.     I'm not always sure that American Home Shield is going to cover everything but for the last couple of times, they've come through. We had some incidents where we called them and they were like, " Well, we don't cover that," or, "We can't be there in many days." There was one time when they didn't have a plumber on the weekend. It was like, "Well, you're supposed to. That's why we have this contract." They call me but that's not responding to the emergency in 24 hours, that's just responding to my phone call and that's not good enough. I tried to say, "Well, one of my contacts said they would get working on it within a certain amount of time, then they should authorize another contractor that was outside network," and they wouldn't do that. So, that was a fight. But the last couple of times I've used them, they showed up when they said they were going to show up. I'm still building up the trust thing with AHS though.

    I had an experience with American Home Shield about 48 hours ago regarding my garage door opener. They sent the first contractor who was unable to fix it but I was very happy that one of AHS’ representatives called me back saying that the contractor filed a report stating that nothing could be done. I said that I'm an electronics engineer myself and there are ways to do it. The lady said that she was immediately going to assign me to a second contractor in my area. She was very nice and receptive and it was solved. This particular contractor was excellent and resolved the issue within 25 minutes. Throughout this procedure, AHS was in contact with me and they were very good.

    I sent in a claim for the shower. You could turn hot, and then the cold was a little wobbly and not working. The contractor that came out found a valve had to be replaced in our main shower. They had to come back because they had to order a part. But that part came in pretty fast and they were able to come back within two days. Their professionalism and quickness to find the issue impressed me. I have a fairly older home and every time we had a problem, I'm glad that American Home Shield was able to find the repairs that we've requested here in the last three years since we've had our warranty. It's really good to have them. The cost would be way more if we didn't have the warranty.

    Our neighbor has the same house built and their air conditioning unit went out last year. And since we have the same house and the same equipment, there was one out. They have American Home Shield and they had them come out and replace their AC. When we saw what AHS did for them, we had it by the end of the week after they had their AC unit installed.

    When the washing machine was leaking, I went on the American Home Shield website, and then within an hour, they sent an email notification for confirmation that stated Able would come out. The guy showed up on time and was thorough with everything. He walked us through the entire process and then provided examples of the model that was before the model that we have and the issues that come up with that particular model.     I could have done without a sales pitch to try and get me to purchase a new pump. I have the warranty so that these things are repaired. That's what was requested, that's what I expected, and that's what I wanted. I don't purchase it to give contractors an opportunity to make a sale and I certainly don't need somebody trying to pressure me into that. I'll make those decisions on my own and I'm perfectly capable of doing that. That's the issue I have and American Home Shield needs to do something to prevent that from going forward.     We built the house three years ago. Underneath it is a water filter. We forgot all about that water filter until we started having sediment coming through the showerhead. We went down to try to change that but we could not figure out how to get the pressure off of the system in order to unscrew it to change the filter. I didn't think that was something that American Home Shield did. My husband was like, "We need to call them." I was like, "I don't think this falls under the contract that we have." "Well, just call them anyway." Because it does not specifically say filter. It does say plumbing. So, the warranty is very important. It was nice and easy.

    We scheduled everything online and the contractor showed up on time, was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and it was done. Whoever built the house put an old system on and there was no pressure relief valve, which threw the guy too, but it only took him 10 minutes. They winded up turning the outside spigot. They turned that on, which drained the line which released the pressure, and it took him three minutes.

    I had two people come out, one was plumbing and the other one was to fix a washer. They were both excellent. The guy that came out for the plumbing was very knowledgeable. He said that it was not the plumbing and he couldn't fix it. But he told me exactly what piece it was in the washer that needed to be fixed. Then he took off the hoses that were on there because I couldn't take them off and then put the new ones on. American Home Shield has really good contractors and the service is great. Even when I requested to change the first service to someone else, they just took the call and they were pretty quick with it.

    The water was leaking whenever the AC was turned on. When the contractor first came in, they weren't able to see the issue. They asked us that we needed to open the sheetrock and create access so they can look. So we did that and then they came back again. They said that there was no drain line, and now, we're waiting for American Home Shield. This claim has been open since April and I don't know what's taking so long. I called Home Shield today and they called the AC company. The AC company just submitted the issue to them, so they're reviewing it.

    I had American Home Shield for at least 15 years when I had my house in Chino and then I sold it. I'm now leasing a property and then I bought another one. But this time around, I've called them and I ordered it, and I wanted the $75 service fee and they ended up giving me $100 service fee. I tried to get that changed and it took a lot of phone calls. I don't understand how it could be so difficult. Two months went by and I hadn't used the service. Then they wanted to charge me an extra $10 for the months that I didn't use it. Instead of $33.74, it's gonna be $43.74. Why should I do that? But I just wanted to get this changed and get it done right so we did it. I approved $20, and then the 43.74 as the monthly charge.

    Well, this month, I get charged with those amounts. But then again, that same day, they charged it again. I called them and it took a lot to get the woman to understand what I was talking about. She said they charged me for June and July and I said no. It said 5-2 on all these charges on my bank account and on their own statement to me. She just couldn't get it. I told her all I wanted was a credit. She said she had to call her supervisor. It took a little bit but we got it done now. I haven't seen the credit yet but I'm expecting it.

    I called them recently and said I needed a service call for my refrigerator and my dishwasher. Once I placed it, I got an email as to who they assigned that job to. At that time, I called them right away and we set up an appointment. Unfortunately, my mother was very ill and we had some issues going on here 'cause she was living with us, and she ended up passing. I had to call the contractor and tell them that I can't have them at that time and I explained to them about my mom. They totally understood and said to call them when I want them to come out. I did that and Daniel came. He took a look at what the problems were. He ordered the parts and was back in a week and fixed them quickly.

    The refrigerator would freeze. Even if we adjusted it, it was getting cold. There was a little flapper valve that controls the temperature and has a little rotary motor that he replaced. Since that, everything's been good. With the dishwasher, he had to replace the wheels on the rack on the top. But we didn't notice that there are two wheels missing on the bottom rack so I need to call him back and tell him about that. I just haven't had a chance 'cause I've been working on other issues.

    I signed up with Home Shield in January. I also had them a couple of years back then I changed to Choice, but we didn't like that company. They were a pain in the neck. I didn't even send them one repair all year and I have to call them 10 times before they even send somebody, which was too long. That was the first time I had that company and they were fantastic. They are out of Wagner, Oklahoma, which is about 15 miles from Muskogee.     The capacitor that actually starts the fan blade in the condenser was dead. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was easy. A couple of clicks on my phone or on my computer and I was good to go. They gave me everything that I needed to know, immediately set me up with an appointment, and told me what company would be coming out. But I was not very satisfied with the whole package of service that I received. I have looked up AMP Mechanical and they're not very highly rated online. They called me at 7:20 in the morning the day after I put in that request on American Home Shield and I was asleep at the time. So I tried to call them back several times throughout the day and unfortunately, I wasn't able to get ahold of them at all. I contacted American Home Shield and they weren't able to get ahold of them either. They did come out and I was really happy with the tech that they sent.

    The technician immediately recognized the problem and replaced it. He was only out here for 10 minutes and fixed my issue and it was more than worth the cost of entry. He even offered to do additional stuff and he checked my Freon levels. He made sure that I was tuned up and good to go for the whole summer. I had a claim previous time last year about the beginning of summer and it was with AMP Mechanical too. My Delta T just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. So I wanted to check the Freon levels and they came out and they did a fine job as well.

    The repairman took four days to come out for my claim. He indicated that they didn't get the work order till that morning. I was notified that the claim had been assigned the same day that I put it in. But he said that American Home Shield told them that the first company they chose didn't have enough plumbers to come out and assess the problem. The first repairman came to assess the problem with the water heater but they didn't pick up that the pipe was also leaking. So I had to put in another work order about the leaking pipe and pay two different deductibles.

    The plumbing company was waiting on the water heater. When I called to inquire about the water heater, the plumbing company indicated that they hadn't got approval from American Home Shield. So I called AHS and they indicated that they would reach out to the plumbing company because they indicated that they hadn't received the work order. So somebody was not being truthful in this process.

    AHS reached out to the company on the day that I called which was on a Thursday, the 29th of April. I then got an email indicating that there were some things that they weren't going to pay for but nobody decided to call me to tell me it was three things that they weren't paying for. I read the email that Sunday and then I called the warranty company to inquire about the three items that I had to pay out of pocket and someone was there to answer my questions.

    I had to wait till that Monday, May 3, to call the plumbing company because they weren't open on the weekend. I called that Monday to know when they were coming out to install the water heater. They indicated that they were waiting for the water heater to come in and that they would call and let me know when they would have it. It took a week for the water heater to coming in. I was given an appointment day and a timeframe. It was on a Wednesday at 10 o'clock. But I received a text message indicating someone was en route on May 3, the day that I made that initial phone call, to come to do the water heater. So I called to make sure that my appointment was scheduled for that Wednesday instead of that Monday. That was confusing.

    In my first experience with AHS last year, the people they sent out seemed almost like a scam to me. They said that I needed a certain thing done to my air conditioner and that it would cost $1500 for permits, and I'd be better off getting a new system. Then, they tried to sell me a system. I didn't buy it. I got other opinions and so, that was alright. But Millennial HVAC was good. They put in some Freon and I had to pay for that but that was expected. The only bad experience I've had with AHS so far is the duct work. It was going bad and it was supposed to be covered and I turned it in. They turned it down for different reasons I can't remember. Still, it’s good to know that AHS is there in case something major goes out, if they'll cover it.

    The rep was real cool. He got here on time. He was real professional and social. He did a good job. He looked at the unit outside, then looked at the unit upstairs in the attic, and made sure everything was good. He gave me a couple of recommendations, and filled the unit up with Freon. Now, everything works good. When I submitted the claim, I did it online but I called the representative afterwards. Because when I did it online, they set me up with the company that was going to do it and the date they gave me was a week out and that was unacceptable. So I had to call a representative up, and then she went ahead and expedited it. Everything worked out.

    Reaching out to American Home Shield is easy. But I don't like the fact that you gotta wait so long, or call back and make things a priority or emergency in order to get service. When you see the advertising on TV, I’d call and then they were here within two hours. That's kind of service I was expecting, not calling or putting the claim in on a Wednesday or Thursday and they tell me they can't get out here till the following Wednesday. So don't believe the two-hour advertisement. It gotta be a special circumstance and then 24 hours is a minimum for someone to come out.

My only concern with American Home Shield is the length of time it takes to get somebody out to look at a problem and address it. In this case, it worked out. The tech had a cancellation. He was able to respond very quickly. But the two times that we've done, we've had to wait a matter of days to get somebody out here.

    A dishcloth went down to the garbage disposal and the tech ended up getting it fixed. He had tools and stuff that he could reverse the blades and he got it out. It didn't cause any damage to the disposal so that was a blessing. I like American Home Shield because they send out people who were screened, reliable and wouldn't hit you up for a new disposal. They'll do what they can and let you know what the problem is. So, I'm impressed with the company.

    I had other claims with AHS and I had the electric dryer checked out and the tech said it was fine and even though it was old, it could last another 20 years. Then, I had trouble with the washing machine. It was on its last legs so I had that replaced. I trust the company who AHS have had as service people to give me the right information. It's better than trying to call somebody out the Yellow Pages. You don't know who you're going to get or what you're going to get. AHS has always expedited the service and they’ve taken care of everything. Even when I had the locks on the doors changed, they got a locksmith out. It was a comforting experience. They’ve checked out the people beforehand and they've chosen the best in the area. Either that's true or not true, but with my experience, I've been very happy with the people that they've sent out.

    The tech from Southern Comfort came out and checked our air conditioner. He also looked at the furnace. The furnace and the air conditioner were old. He found some things that needed to be repaired and he submitted that report to American Home Shield. I asked American Home Shield to let them be the ones that did the work because they had come out through American Home Shield. The older furnace that has been there for many years was not sufficient to go upstairs. So, we put in a heat pump upstairs.

    American Home Shield sent a repair order back on the air conditioner, but not the furnace. So I called them to get an order issued to coincide with the air conditioner because the problems that were being caused were somewhat interrelated problems. Air goes through the furnace to get out. The lady I was talking to was impossible, with American Home Shield. I explained to her that we just needed a repair order to Southern Comfort so they could look at both of them and do both of them jointly. But she sent the order to another company. I didn't want that and I asked to speak to a supervisor. She told me that there wasn’t a supervisor available to talk to me. Unfortunately, English was not the rep's first language but she could understand me. But everybody else I’ve dealt with at American Home Shield has been excellent.

    I'm glad that I have American Home Shield. With my recent claim, the refrigerator part wasn't cool enough. The tech came out and he needed a new hinge on the door. It wasn't closing properly. He did that and I still felt like it wasn't cool enough, so he came back out and fiddled the register on the side. It's not quite as cool as I would like, but it's okay. I kept thinking I should call him back out one more time and see if there's anything else he could check.

    I was just a little frustrated when my air conditioner went out. There was a Freon leak and by the time the tech started calling me how much it would cost to find the leak and the Freon, I decided to just get a new one. I tried to call American Home Shield and they gave me a number to call just to double-check with who they’ve dealt with. The lady said they couldn't come out until it was 70 degrees at least. Since the weather wasn't cooperating, she suggested I cancel and then call back when the weather was gonna be okay, so I did that.

    By the time I called again to reschedule, they wouldn't let me have that company and so I was upset about that 'cause I thought I could have some money towards a new air conditioner. I know AHS wouldn't replace the thing. It didn't work out and the company was scheduled to come out. It was gonna get hot again, and I didn't wanna be without air conditioning, so I went ahead and had Vogel Heating & Cooling put in a new one for me. I didn't call American Home Shield.

    It wasn't difficult submitting a claim to AHS. But I was wondering if I had the right location or company, because when I talked to somebody, it was somebody from overseas, and I could barely understand them. So, I was confused, 'cause I didn't know if that was legit or if I dialed the right number. Because I couldn't really find my policy at the time, so I just googled American Home Shield. But when I talked to the representative, she said she was in Korea.

    She said she was the right person for the claims, but I was wondering was it more than just one person who could come out. They just gave me the name of one person. Then when they came out, they were charging $900 more. I said, "If I already have the policy and I already gave the $100 deposit, then why am I paying another $900 out of my pocket"? I was confused about that so we didn't go through with it. I just told them I have to check with my husband. Then when I checked with my husband, who is a pipefitter, he was saying that he didn't think that it should have been that much, what they were charging.

    I didn't notice that there are two large springs at the top of the garage door, and one of them split in half. So, I couldn't get the door open. The guys who came through American Home Shield did a great job. It took three of us to get the door up with those two pulling while I hit the button to try and get it. They replaced the spring for me. The claim submission process was easy. When I called back to see if I can get my deductible back, they said, “No, you can’t get it back. You put in the claim. And we sent somebody out. And that's part of your process.” I agreed with that. The guy said, “Next time you have an issue, when you call, tell us what it is, and we can tell you if it's a covered item before you make the claim.” That was pretty good of them.     I had American Home Shield twice. The first time, I had it for about a year and a half. We had an issue with a vendor that came out and they took about three months to fix my refrigerator during the summer. After that experience, I was very upset, so I cancelled American Home Shield. I did not have any warranty for about a year, but an offer came in that was really good. I was paying $50 or $60 a month before, but they gave me a discount to where I'd be paying 39. That's why I went back to them.

    I like that I call them and they give me updates, because we had an issue with the dryer last summer and they took a little bit longer, but it was due to COVID. Some company that they got their parts from had closed, so getting parts was the hard part. But it took them a little bit to figure out what was wrong with it 'cause they fixed one thing, then it was something else. My hair falls and it attaches to my clothes, and they said that that was the issue that caused the problem. I asked them how am I supposed to fix that because it's not like I pull my hair out and throw it in the dryer. I called American Home Shield and they told me that they could send out another company. But if it was the same issue, I was going to be charged again.

    At that point, I didn't care because I was upset at what they were telling me and that it wasn't going to be covered. It turns out there was something wrong with the machine and it was going through the filter. They were able to fix it. But then, I don't think we should get charged for a second vendor, because it's not like we mess up our appliances on purpose. Maybe a third vendor charge to then. Nonetheless, the company itself has been really good, in my opinion.

    On Wednesday, we noticed that when my daughter got ice cream, it was melting. My husband figured that it was only the freezer portion of the refrigerator. We pulled everything out. But it turned out the entire thing wasn't cooling anymore, so I called American Home Shield. They put in the claim, and the next day, they called me and they had an available appointment for Friday, which was great because we need the refrigerator. Accord Appliance was supposed to come in between 12:00 and 6:00. But then, they called me and said they would be finished early so they were going to stop by early at my house. Guy came in, he checked out the refrigerator, looked at it for about 5, 10 minutes, and he figured out what was wrong with it, and he was able to fix it in 30 minutes.

    My washing machine went out and I had a bit of an issue with American Home Shield. It was an old washing machine. I had to wait three and a half weeks for them to decide if they were going to be able to find the part so they could fix my washer. I would be happy with that, but it took them three and a half weeks to figure that out even though the washing machine was 14 years old and the repairman had already told me that they were not going to be able to find this part. AHS was going to replace it. But they were going to replace it with something that I didn't like so I had to cash out. I was without a washing machine for two and a half months and it was crazy. But once they decided to do the cash out, I got my cash out money really quick.

    I'm waiting for American Home Shield to pay me out for my air conditioner because we have to get a whole new unit. I haven't heard back from them. Our air conditioner's old and we've decided that it's better to replace it. So, we went with a different facility because the repairman that AHS sent wasn't from our area town. My husband wanted to make sure that I had a good air conditioner in the house. So, he wanted someone local that was recommended that I could call in a heartbeat and they would be out if something were to happen to the air conditioner. That's why we switched. But the repairman they sent out was great, just not someone for us.

    My dishwasher needed a new motor. A tech put one in and he discovered when he was testing it that there was a crack on the wall of the cabinet. That cannot be fixed and I had to have a new dishwasher. My claim started in February. We had to wait for the motor to come when the man first came. That took over a week. Technicians came back and ordered a new dishwasher. That was another wait.

    When that came, the technicians came out to put it in and they discovered that there was a plumbing problem. They went away and I had to call a plumber. After the plumber came, the technicians finally came out, dropped the dishwasher, and installed it. I got the dishwasher this week. What happened was not American Home Shield’s fault. I got a GE dishwasher and the big fault was with GE. They messed up the order and they sent the dishwasher without the installation kit. The installers had to wait for the dishwasher installation kit to come.

    I've had good experiences with American Home Shield overall. They've always been very good about answering any questions or getting back to me on anything. I had a couple of plumbing problems and they were using a local company. They came out three different times on plumbing problems for me. When I would call the plumbing company with a question, the first thing they would ask was if I was an American Home Shield customer. I got the impression that American Home Shield was not a favorite customer of theirs. American Home Shield has a new plumbing company now that they sent out the last two times I called and they have been very nice. I was glad that American Home Shield changed the workman that they were sending out.

    The air conditioning unit wasn't producing cold air. The technician that came out was really confident and perfect. Everything's working great. There is just one comment. I live in a high-rise condo in Las Vegas and all of them have special requirements for the contractors to come in. Most of the contractors that American Home Shield has don't satisfy those requirements. They don't have proper insurance, for example. I can't submit anything online because it's very likely I'll end up with a contractor that can't even get into my building 'cause he doesn't have insurance. This is the problem every time for anything.

    The woman I talked to at AHS for this said that their computer can't search for contractors that can work in high rises and so that's the biggest problem. They have to guess. She had to make a number of calls and she selected one contractor and called them. So, sometimes, if I know of a contractor that's been in my building for another customer, I'll say, "Could you assign such and such?" If AHS can fix this problem, they'll have 300 new clients just in my building.

    American Home Shield sent me an email. Then I replied to the email to them to do the service on the AC. The technician who did the service was doing good, but one thing that he forgot is to close the back door and two of my cats got out. But he didn't notice at all that he left the door open. Then he noticed one of the cats got in, so he closed the door. He didn’t notice there was another left outside. After one hour and a half, I could see a movement on my backyard. I have the cameras, and I noticed that one of my cats was outside for almost an hour and a half. We have Sphynx cats, so they are inside animals, not outside animals. It was a very bad situation on not paying attention on closing the door. The AHS service people need to be a little more careful when it comes to animals. Other than that, our air is working well now.

    KSR worked on our AC, and it went good. AHS also used KSR Air before, and we were satisfied with them. They have to get some more parts in. I am waiting, so I can get this fixed and go home to my other house. I need to call them and find out how long it's going to take for the plumber to come back with the parts. They were here on the 30th and found that they didn't have all the parts for what they were working on. So, they're waiting to get the parts and the approval. I live 230 miles away and I need to go to my other house, too, and get my mail.

    Having American Home Shield has been very cost effective. If we didn't have it, we would have had to pay a lot more for the parts and the repair. As a matter of fact, I've talked several people into signing up for it back where I was. We have two houses with American Home Shield. I do have one problem, though. We have a weird thing that they've sent somebody out. My daughter had to be up here because I wasn't here. I was in my other house. There's a weird set up here where the air conditioner vents are in the ceiling. It’s a bigger one like that over the stove. Then the equipment is up in the attic. My daughter said the guy was not happy that he had to go up in the attic. We told them that they had to go up in the attic because that's where the equipment is. So, we were waiting.

    American Home Shield called me, and the lady wanted me or my daughter to climb up in the attic and go and see the equipment and the name and everything on it. I was like, “Why didn’t that person do it when they were up in the attic looking at it?” I’m 75, I'm not climbing up the attic stairs and going in the attic. My daughter's not going to either, and my husband is no longer with us. I'm not sending my 14-year-old grandson up there either. So, what they told us to do is take a picture of that vent that's over the stove. It's not a regular vent fan hood, it's just like one of those air conditioner vent things and with the heat and the air coming out of it. But it’s larger and looks a little bit different. My daughter lives an hour away and I live three and a half hours away, so she came up here and she took a picture of it and followed their instructions and sent the picture in to them. We haven't heard back from that either.

    Otherwise, we've been super satisfied with AHS because they come out fast. When the plumber came out, the garbage disposal was leaking a little bit. This is the second time this has happened. This is the second garbage disposal. Somebody’s loosening the bolts. I rent this house on the weekend, and it happened around four years ago, too. We replaced the garbage disposal. Five years ago, that's before we had American Home Shield and put a new garbage disposal in and when they came up and they looked at it, they said, “Somebody loosened all the bolts. But it's hardwired. If they were going to steal it, they found out they couldn't because it's hardwired.” They replaced the garbage disposal because they said they didn't know if they damaged it or not.

    We’re thinking of canceling American Home Shield. The contractors end up coming out but there are all these either additional charges and/or, “Oh, we don't do this. We don't do that.” When I signed up for the policy two years ago, I had somebody on the phone for 30 minutes in the car and I had them go over the policy line by line, what they pay for, how much they'll pay and how much they'll allow. All of a sudden, my wife says, "I think if the compressor goes down on the air conditioner, it's going to run us about 6,000.” Normally it would cost 20,000 to 25,000. I said, “Wait a minute. Why do we have insurance?" When you buy insurance on the car and you get into a little fender bender or your bumper, you pay your deductible and they fix the car. It's not a matter of maybe we will, maybe we won't.

    Wicker Installation came out for the plumbing claim and the guy cleared the line. He went outside and said, “I found your problem. You've got a root that's growing into the line,” which is only about 8 to 10 feet from the front of our house. He told us to do the sewer thing outside, they're gonna have to dig a 4 x 4 hole down about five or six feet. When they get to the sewer line, they'll replace the PVC there. I asked what's that going to cost. He said $2,600. He also said to go ahead and call some of the other local companies and I'll find out that they're going to want about 4,500. My wife got on the phone again with American Home Shield and they said they don't cover that.

    We also asked him about our toilet which was a little bit off kilter. I said, “Since you're out here, is there any way you could tighten that up and make sure that it's working properly?” He took it off and said, “It's ruined and this needs to be replaced.” I asked what was that going to cost and does American Home Shield cover that. He called American Home Shield. He came back and said they don't cover it. He's coming out tomorrow to finish the toilet and we're paying 180 out of our pocket. We had our water heater replaced yesterday. The guy on the phone was saying it might cost $600 to $1,000. I was thinking $600 to $1,000 for what? We got a water heater that was busted. It flooded three rooms in our house for the third time in 25 years.

    Another thing with American Home Shield is you call them up and they say, “We'll call you back in a reasonable time.” I ask, "What's reasonable? 30 minutes? One hour? 12 hours? 24 hours? Just tell me what it's going to be. I can accept it." They say, “Well, we don't know. We have to get ahold of the company.” Then they choose the company. We don't get to choose them. I've got a plumber that was coming here years ago that I like. I can't call that company up and say, “Do you guys have American Home Shield?” We have to wait for American Home Shield to babysit us and tell us, “By the way, this is the company that's coming out.” Then a guy shows up. He doesn't take his shoes off or he doesn't put plastic things on his boots.

    The bottom-line is with, American Home Shield, the three fingers pointing back to me means it's ultimately my and my wife's responsibility. What kind of help will we get from American Home Shield? Nothing except I pay them $600 a year at a minimum plus the $100 for this guy to come out to tell us that we got a problem with our sewer line and American Home Shield won't pay for it. We're not happy and we're not getting answers on the phone from people. Like most people these days, they’re reducing the labor of people being on the phone. I totally get that but they want you to hit all these prompts then you don't even have to ever speak to somebody. But sometimes, it's kinda nice to go over what may be going wrong.

    I was hearing a thumping sound from the ground floor where the heater boiler is. I called American Home Shield's customer service and told them the issue. I checked if it's being covered and they said it’s covered. Then I got a message saying the plumber was scheduled for the repairs, and they asked me to contact the plumbing company to schedule the appointment. The plumber came and he replaced one of the pressure valves. The pressure was very high and that was why that wall was making that noise. He also used the pressure monitor to show me the pressure measurement. Earlier, he showed me the pressure was around 100 and then after the fix, it went down to 50 and I'm not hearing the noise anymore. Overall, I was very satisfied.

    The thermostats of the water heater were set around 122 degrees Fahrenheit and the average water temperature at the fixture was only 108.68. The inspector said that indicated that either it was the thermostat or the heating elements needed to be replaced. I requested a specific person from Steven Mills Plumbing. They’re always top notch and their customer service is grade A. Chrissy was right on the money with scheduling and she tried to get them in there as soon as possible.

    I had an experience with one of their plumbers before, Zack, he was the bomb.com so I asked for him again. He came out and walked through everything. He said it didn't need any thermostats or heating elements. He tested everything and it was in great, overall, good condition for it to be 23 years old. It wasn't leaking or anything like that. He was extremely efficient and got it done. American Home Shield is extremely prompt and courteous. I never have to wait a long period of time. I make my claim, they immediately send out somebody who's assigned to us, and those people get in touch with me.

    Both AC units wouldn’t turn on. In both cases, Summer Breeze was able to diagnose the issues and fix them. In one case, there were no parts involved. The technician was able to troubleshoot it while he was here. Then the other case, they had to order some parts, wait for those to come in, and then reschedule a time to come back out. In both cases, the problems were resolved. Summer Breeze has been here more times than any of us would like to admit. Had a lot of issues with our HVAC systems and they've been very helpful, despite the problems with the systems. The online process of AHS is very easy. Sometimes, the phone process is also pretty easy. I'm very satisfied. I've had other home warranties in the past with other companies and this coverage with AHS is better.

    I didn't realize I had water in my utility room. I didn't know if it was coming from the wall or coming from the water heater. When I called American Home Shield, I requested that High Priority come out due to the fact that they installed my pipes before. Andrew came out, identified the problem and rectified it in a timely manner. He said I could do several things, but if I wanted it done today, he was gonna take care of it, and that's what he did. He said that he needed to go outside and clear it from the absolute outside, and he did. He made sure it was totally clear from therein, all the way through.     I always tell my husband when we have an appliance repair, "Don't put it through the automated system." Once American Home Shield assigns you a place, you can’t unassign it. They've always used the same appliance service repair place, and it's beyond horrible. No matter what kind of repair it is, it's a horrible experience and I don't understand why they keep using them. We had our two-year-old oven break and the appliance place scheduled eight different times. We have to take off work for those appointments and they would not show up. If they did show up, they would say, “We need a part,” and then never show back up until we called again.

    Recently, we had to put in a repair call for an ice maker. They came out, said nothing was wrong with it, then we asked them to come out again. They came and said, “Okay. We'll order a part.” That was months ago, and they never came back or did anything. I don't know if this is their strategy that you keep calling them and you give up. We gave up on that one and our ice maker doesn't work perfectly. It works enough that we just don't want to deal with it.

    On the other hand, AHS also uses a plumbing service that's amazing. When our sinks were leaking underneath, we put the call in. They showed up, they fixed it, it's done, and it's great. No problem. We've had them come out three times over the years, and they've always been great. Overall, we've been with American Home Shield for years and sometimes we get things fixed and it's less expensive. We've had our air conditioning go out before. We had one horrible experience, and one great experience. When American Home Shield works, it's worth it.

    I was quite pleased with the way everything went with my claim. The biggest thing was the contractor responded promptly and they scheduled an appointment relatively quickly. They fixed the problem and all the bases were covered. The only thing is, I didn't fully appreciate the cap on costs with American Home Shield. I learned about it later that if you have an expensive refrigerator, they'll fix it and if it ever comes to the fact that they cannot fix it, then they're only going to reimburse you a fraction of what it costs to replace it, which is a problem.

    The caps need to be higher for premium appliances. Because these days, if you have a Sub-Zero refrigerator built-in or a Wolf oven, those things are super expensive. I wouldn't even mind AHS charging a higher premium. If you have an oven that is expensive and maybe some circuit board fails, and at some point that circuit board anymore is not being made anymore, you're stuck. AHS can't fix it and they have to replace it. But the replacement limit is very low. That’s something that people need to understand before they sign up because that could be quite a shock. But that's the only thing you have to worry about with AHS.

    The pulley on the washing machine was down. It was broken. The service guy, Kevin, came out and he was in and out in 20 minutes. American Home Shield hired the right man. There was a time when I couldn't get an appliance person here when I wanted them here within that 24-to-48-hour time frame. I called on a Thursday or a Friday and American Home Shield couldn't have anyone from Express Appliance at my house until the following Thursday. That was hard because my husband was not a well man and we'd use a lot of towels. I put myself on a call me if somebody would cancel their appointment. But they gave me one day ahead and they made it on Wednesday instead of Thursday and the repair person was fabulous.

    I have mostly Whirlpool in my house and they're either Whirlpool Gold or Whirlpool Platinum. So they're the top-of-the-line Whirlpools. American Home Shield was able to fix them beautifully anytime I had an experience. I enjoyed having them so much that my son also bought a plan for his appliances at his house. I wish his plan was a discount because he could hardly afford it. You have to have a few dollars to afford the plan.

    Some of the burners on the cooking range were clicking, and they were not turning on. It would just keep clicking and not start the burner at all, or even after you start the burner, it just kept clicking. The contractor who came was excellent. Compared to last time, I had to open an issue with American Home Shield and that was a nightmare. This was an amazingly perfect experience. They called right away. They sent an email and text message to set up an appointment right away. They were responsive on text messages. I even changed the day and time one time, and they were responsive. They handled all of those things very quickly. They always say upfront like, "Hey, the technician will be there in 20 minutes." They were always on time. They had to wait for parts. As soon as the parts arrived, they sent an email to make the next appointment. Everything was amazingly smooth.

    With the toilet issue that we had, I had an issue with the particular vendor that they used. I had used them one time before. It looks like that plumber is the only one in our area that American Home Shield uses because that issue went on for like longer than two months. It was like an experience from hell, but it was not an American Home Shield issue because every time I talk to American Home Shield representatives, they were really trying to help. The problem was that they kept on assuming that this vendor would take care of the problem. They showed up, but they would not submit the right things to American Home Shield. It just didn't go until I got so tired and I had to escalate it. Finally, they had to assign another vendor who came and took care of the problem.

    The ticket was for two things, one for the dryer, and the other one for the microwave. I received the call the following day of putting the claim telling me that the technician would be at a certain time. They texted and called me again to confirm my availability and that someone will be at home. The technicians came on time. They fixed the dryer and checked the microwave. There was a panel that needed to be changed. They told us that they were going to order the part and it would take a few 10 days. The part actually arrived before the 10 days.     Our AC was blowing the fuses. I submitted my ticket online and I got a reply in no time. The air conditioning company also replied to me pretty much the same day after a couple of hours. The technician did a very good job. I was just surprised that the out-of-pocket cost me 1,150. I know that Freon price is high but the job was a modification and Freon.

    American Home Shield should have an option available with no out-of-pocket costs. You pay this much and you know that when you have a problem, it will be taken care of and you don't have any surprises by paying additional costs. It's an all-inclusive package where it would be the customers' choice if they wanna buy or they are gonna pay more money and no charge for visits or additional things. Other than that, American Home Shield is worth having because if I didn't have the insurance, the cost would have been double.

    I used to pay American Home Shield when the contractor got here. Now, I have to give my credit card, where AHS takes my money once a month for the policy. And they do it before the contractor even comes to service me. That's the only change I see. The air conditioner condenser was stopping and going.     The system stopped working and a contractor came and fixed it. I put in a request for service on a Sunday night. They called me first thing Monday and had a guy out Monday afternoon to look at it. He sent the information in and they sent a new condenser out. He came out Saturday and installed it. I liked the company American Home Shield sent. They did good work.

    The year before, my pool pump heater went out, and it was a nightmare. From day one, it took months to get it straightened out. I told them I'm gonna have to take them to court 'cause they cost me $500 because they kept telling American Home Shield I had 100,000 BTU heater, when I had 160,000 BTU heater. Basically, they came out and said, “It's 160,000 BTU gas heater. It'll be $3,000 to fix it.” I said okay. I would rather have 100,000 BTU since it’s an indoor pool and doesn't quite need that big a unit. They cost the same as the 160,000 when you include putting an electric line into the starter, which is a more efficient, more modern unit than the unit that was there.

    They went back to American Home Shield and told them, “We're gonna do it for three grand.” American Home Shield wanted details on everything. We’re having an electric line and she said, "That’s an upgrade. We can’t do that.” I said, “That’s fine. I’m gonna pay the three grand and put the same thing that’s in there. It’s the same price.” She turned on us and said, “You only have 100,000 BTU unit.” They don’t even make 100,000 BTU pilot unit like I have. She refused to come back out and look at it. We went around and around with the circle jerk. American Home Shield, in the middle of this process, had approved everything then turned around and rescinded it because they thought I was getting some kind of upgrade. They also refused to answer my calls.

    The guy who answered my calls when the pool heater people would not cooperate and got them to cooperate to continue to get the thing done, turned around and stopped answering me after he told them he wasn't gonna pay the 3,000 anymore. I ended up taking a $2,500 settlement from American Home Shield and getting it repaired elsewhere. I got ripped off for 500 bucks and I'm not 100% happy with that instance.

    This instance worked out very well. The tech told me the compressor is bad. He said, “They said they’re gonna give you a new condenser. You should take the cash out. Let me upgrade you to something better ‘cause they're gonna send you junk.” I called American Home Shield and they said, “No, we're sending you a Carrier compressor just like you have,” which was not 100% true. They sent me a Payne. But I understand the differences that you get the Carrier name on it. It means the Carrier guy puts it in. The Payne name is the same equipment. It's just anybody can put it in and I'm good with that.

    It was fairly quick and painless. I paid my 75 bucks to get the tech to come look at it, and it's fixed. I'm very happy with this instance. This one is how I felt it should have been. I understand that American Home Shield is gonna do what financially makes sense for them and putting in a brand-new condenser for me made me happy. Air handlers typically last 15 or 20 years and this thing's only 10 or 11 years old. I’ve got probably another 10 years of good service coming with this with a brand-new condenser. Certainly, the warranty paid for itself in my case on this one.

    We hired a company to do a service on the AC and they're going to do it every year. We’ve had them in service for a while and when they came to look at it, they said that there was a risk that there was carbon monoxide leaking out of the unit. I called American Home Shield and they sent me this guy named Bill. He brought a device to measure, checked pretty much everywhere in the house as well as the unit itself, and confirmed that there was no leak of carbon monoxide going on. He was very friendly and very professional. He also gave me a couple of tips. All in all, I like AHS.     I always enjoy the fellas who come out. They're always really polite. They're really good about the mask and six feet thing when that's in place. I have been satisfied with the work. There was one thing that happened during COVID, and I stopped letting people come to my house because of the COVID unless it was something I really needed. I did have two commodes fixed at one time. One of those worked fine for a little bit, and then it cuts back on and fills back up. There were no leaks, but it was draining down somewhere.

    Reaching out to American Home Shield is easy, and I like that you know right away when and if someone is coming. I do the claims over the phone with a robot. I said, “I’d never get to talk to a person.” It works. The big surprise I had more recently was with my heat pump. The message when I called said that American Home Shield would only pay $10 a pound. I had no idea how much a pound it was going to be and how much I would owe. My heat pump is old, but it's still working. I paid $90 extra on that besides the $100 and the monthly fee. So, that was not awful but when this one goes far enough that American Home Shield says, “Okay, we're gonna put in a new one.” When they do that, I understand I'll still have to pay for the gas. It'll be about over $500. I don't like that.

    Another thing that happened that maybe was my lack of reading carefully was I thought my septic tank was going to be insured because I went with the policy that kind of covers everything. I haven’t needed it, but I happened to read one day that it covered it for just the first year. It keeps going up a little bit, but I don't like that the coverage seem to be going down a little bit. I really liked AHS other than those.

    I had an AC issue and one of the PVC lines had a slight clog in it. Apparently, the previous owners had some fix done, but the people didn't put a notch in it. The guy that came out was really fast and intelligent. He did a good job and fixed it in 10 minutes. Everything worked out well with American Home Shield. The only thing that I would prefer changed is the coverage because that's what's keeping us from renewing. Last year in the summer, right after we bought the AC unit, it went out in the basement. Then we were getting our floors done upstairs, and so we couldn't live there. We had to stay in the basement and AC was out. It took a very long time for it to get fixed, and so we were without AC in the middle of August and July with a very hot basement. It kind of sucks for that.

    On top of that, they only covered so much. We were under the understanding that the whole thing would be covered. But turns out, we still ended up having to pay $1,000 to get the AC unit fixed. They say that the AC units are covered, but it doesn't cover the Freon, and it's the most expensive part. They only cover the $150 part. I still had to cover the $960 Freon. What was the point of me even having this warranty when I could have just done that myself? It turns out I could have gotten it done cheaper elsewhere without American Home Shield. So, I would have come out ahead not doing it. It's not been worth it.

    I like how it’s easy to make a claim with AHS and it's easy to schedule an appointment with the service provider. Also, I have the option to either pay month-to-month or pay six months or a whole year in advance. They're willing to work with you on that. I had a claim on the fridge and they sent out Arizona Value Appliance. The tech addressed the issue and even extended the drain so it should help with it. So far, I haven't seen any issues with the fridge since he left.

    The young guy that came out was wonderful. He diagnosed the AC issue within five minutes, but he said he'd only been with the contractor for three weeks, and so his truck wasn't fully stocked. He didn't have the right part. But he knew exactly what the problem was, and double checked it twice. The problem was we'd already been without air for two days. It's 82 degrees in Louisiana already. So we called a local guy and he came out. He had the part on his truck and fixed it in five minutes.

    I called American Home Shield to make sure they didn't put the guy on the schedule for the next day. He wasn't even sure he could come back out because his schedule was set already. So not knowing whether he’ll be able to come back the next day, we just couldn't wait. So I called to cancel it and when I talked to them, it was like they couldn't tell on the schedule that he had already been here or what day he had been here. They acted on their end like they were canceling him from coming out the first time. There were no notes. But we also had American Home Shield on our previous house, and they've been wonderful. Everybody that’s come out here has been generally wonderful. So far, American Home Shield has worked well for us. It was super easy to submit a claim and they called right away to schedule.

American Home Shield ordered it but they didn't order the right thing so they are in the process of getting the correct unit.     I had a pump house that had a crack in it and it was spewing water out. The tech came in and he replaced that. There was also an O-ring and an actuator that needs to be replaced. He replaced that too. Everything is working very good now. ABNation is very professional. They come in and they do a really good job of diagnosing what's going on. I've also never had a problem with them responding. They always show up on time.

    Last year, I had a problem with my blower motor that went out. The first guy came in and he put in the wrong motor. It took me about almost two months and about 10 other calls afterwards to get that straightened out. I had to go buy my portable AC unit because I live with my elderly aunt who’s in her 80s, and we couldn't deal with the heat. I wasn't happy about that. I know other home warranty companies do provide a temporary AC solution. American Home Shield just did not. After about the 10th call, because I got fed up with the first one, they sent me a second company. Those guys were a lot better but it still took them about three different technicians to come in and finally fix it. They all thought they knew, but they really didn't know what was going on until the last person came.

    I wasn't getting any heat and/or AC ‘cause it all ran from one unit. So, the heating fan or blower fan had to be replaced. Myers Comfort Specialists was dispatched and did the job that needed to be done. I had to use American Home Shield again for a plumbing issue. But the issue wasn’t doing the same thing. When the plumber came, there wasn't too much he could do ‘cause it wasn't making the same noise. I didn't have the same problem all of a sudden. He told me I had up to 60 days just in case it started doing the same thing again. Just record it next time.

    American Home Shield has a lineup of different companies that they use for different things. I don't have to go and search for a contractor. They just send them to me. It doesn't take a lot of time to get things lined up and I'm very happy with them. To fix anything in the house, it's $100 just for most people to come out. But with American Home Shield, I pay $75 and they repair whatever needs repairing. If something needed to be replaced, they would replace it. When my air conditioning stopped pumping cold air, the technician had to go up to the roof and there was a fried wire that was connecting into the unit on the roof. He fixed it and then he picked up on another problem that I wasn't even aware of and fixed that too.

    We called one time about our fan on our furnace and the people came and checked it out. They said our fan needed cleaning and that we weren't covered for that. Of course, we didn't know it. I called and asked if AHS could send me my policy by email 'cause I didn't have mine. They haven't done that yet. Then they said they would mail me one, but I haven't received it as well. I thought we were covered and I thought we had the better plan. We had to pay someone else to come out and clean our fan.

    Recently, a boy came out and checked our circuit breakers. He said everything seemed good and that he wanted us to check out all of what he told us to do. He thought it was our microwave. He told us to plug it into another socket and do all of that. We don't understand why he didn't do it. He also told us to do a recall, and then maybe they could figure out what it was. He was really nice. But we didn't get anything done. It's still is not fixed. We think it's electrical. Our son has AHS and he's never had issues with it. It seemed like our luck has not been as good. However, they responded this time quicker than I thought they would.

    Both of the technicians I had were great. They explained everything to me and it wasn't that I was in the way because I was asking questions. When they said I needed a new dishwasher, American Home Shield automatically sent me the app to shop to find one. When I found it, they called me and told me who would be delivering it. Then, when it was time to get it delivered, they called and told me that the company Dirt Cheap would be installing it. I called Dirt Cheap back the day I got it and they were out the next day. They even worked with me because I had to go to the doctor. So, they made sure the technician came after 2 o'clock.

    The technician we had who put the dishwasher in was fabulous. He had a great attitude and he cleaned up everything behind himself even though I kept saying I got it.     We had been with American Home Shield for many, many years and then our renewal came up, and the prices were almost double. So we left and went to a different home warranty for about a year. We were surprised that my neighbor told me that she had just signed up with American Home Shield, and it was back to the price that we had been paying for all those years.     American Home Shield has a good program and I like it a lot that when you log in online, automatically, they give you a vendor who’s coming out. Now, they even have text follow-up so you can log in. You get the text messages and lets you know that the contractor is there. With AHS, I don't have a wait. I have never had any issue with an AHS contractor. Lowery-Clarendon Heating was a great contractor. I love dealing with him. He came out and did all the troubleshooting of my system.     The clothes dryer started making noise so we called American Home Shield. They got True Vine company come out and look at it. Unfortunately, they had to come out three times before they could fix it. The first time, the technician said he didn't know what was causing it. He thought it was a roller and he replaced that. He also said that the motor mount was bad so he tried to straighten that up himself manually and then it started making the noise again. In fact, it locked up the second time.

    We called it back in again to American Home Shield. They got True Vine to come back out again with all the different parts and they replaced everything except the motor mount because they didn't know that it was the cause the second time. The third time, they came out with a motor mount and replaced it. They also brought a motor, but they just had to replace the motor mount and everything's working fine. It was a little miscommunication within that True Vine company between the technicians. But overall, they did a pretty good job. It just took us a while to get it squared away.

    We've had this since 2000 and this is the second time I signed up for it. I went to a different company, Yahoo Care for a while, but I didn't like their service so I went back. I just wish they drop the rates. Other than that, I've talked to all my family and encouraged them all to join some type of home insurance company like this. I could put out $200, $300 each time one of those came and made service calls, but instead, I only had to pay one time and that to me was a benefit. A lot of money would probably save by doing Home Shield. It's a great program.

    The air conditioner compressor just kept running for about two and a half hours. That was too much 'cause I'd either get a fire outside or my compressor was going to burn out so I turned the system off. I contacted American Home Shield and asked them for service. The guy came and took a look at the thermostat. Then he went outside and looked at the wiring on the AC unit. He saw that a wire was broken so he repaired that and reset everything, started it back up, and it's working super good again. He just knew where to go. Another thing he did was he checked out the AC vents in the ceiling after he turned the ceiling on to check and make sure that the volume of air and the coolant were being cooled correctly. Everything was okay before he left. I'm glad he came out quickly. American Home Shield is good insurance. I got my neighbor hooked up on it.

    AHS has been good though it is a little more expensive than I would prefer. When I started out, it was about $49. But it's nice to know that if something goes wrong, I don't have to worry about it. My dishwasher and my dryer went out at the same time so the contractor came out to take care of both of them. They thought they had fixed the dishwasher. They solved one problem but I guess there was more than one problem with it and I wasn't aware of it. I called them back out and they came back. They took care of everything. However, I don't think my dryer is getting as hot as it used to. It seems like it's taking longer for things to get dried.

    Everything went great when Superior Electronics came out for the dishwasher. They diagnosed it and ordered the part. Came back about a week later and fixed it. And it works fine. Plus he was early one day and exactly on time the second time. Timeliness was great. The downside with AHS though is they're sometimes hard to get ahold of. They like to do everything by email as opposed to by phone. So, finding a phone contact can be difficult. In this situation, the first person that they put me in contact with wasn't returning my call. So I called and they put me in contact with Superior Electronics and everything went fine, after that point. I've had a couple of other claims with AHS in the past and I haven't had any issues with them. Everything has gone pretty smoothly.

    For the most part, American Home Shield is good. But sometimes they don't always have a contractor available right away. And I have to be pushy about trying to find another contractor. My refrigerator was out for a couple of weeks. I had to go and buy a backup refrigerator. It took a long time for somebody to come out. And then people didn't show up. I sat at home all day long. Couldn't go to work that day. But it ended up working out. Somebody was able to come the day before Thanksgiving to get our refrigerator fixed. AHS should have more reliable people.

    In the past, those people didn't show up either. I have two refrigerators now. The compressor went out on one. I called and called but people weren't showing up. Finally, I called AHS and said I needed a new refrigerator. They said, "Okay, we'll just reimburse you for a new refrigerator." That was several years ago. And I was like, "Fine. I'll go order a refrigerator right away." But they deducted the cost to try and repair the refrigerator from what they would give me for a new one. That's terrible. Wouldn’t you be upset about that? So, I went out and got a new one. The service has been beneficial up until this point. But I don't know going forward. I stayed just because I've used them a lot. It's not worth it.

    We learned about American Home Shield's services through my sister and her husband and my parents. They have the service. We decided to go with that service as well because before, we didn't have anything like that where we lived. It's nice to have that available. We initiated a call for our appliance in August. We didn't have any difficulty with the claim process and American Home Shield has been good about it. It's just getting to the root of the issue.

    We are still having problems. The ice is melting and refreezing as it has been from the beginning. This has been a problem for a long time. We are not keeping any food in the appliance. Advanced Appliance Service came out the last two times. There was another company before them. A circuit board was replaced and I thought that would take care of the problem but it didn't. That aside, American Home Shield has been very good about their response. They followed through, which is huge. I would get busy and it would be too late to call a lot of places. We have someone who calls us to check on the service if the problem has been resolved or not. That has been a great service to me.

    American Home Shield has a good website. All our claims have been put in online and the company that's tagged either texts or emails us or both about how something is going. All the companies that American Home Shield assigned to us and had come out were really good. They are on their A-game and hopefully, they'll stay on it.

    We were debating on whether to renew our warranty or not since none of our appliances are really new. They all came with the house. The warranty is $750 for the whole year so that's not bad. We renewed this last December and we already used it once for our refrigerator ice maker. Our ice maker went out once during the first year. A few days later, it started up again. This time it went out about a month ago. After a few days, it started up and ran for one day then was out. I called in the warranty repair and Sears came out on Friday. They happened to have the ice maker part on the truck. This claim ended up being an all at once repair and we now have plenty of ice. The repair could have been $600 but it ended up being a $300 repair. It covered the whole thing except the $75 service fee. You can't really beat that.

    I called AHS's main number and reported what the problem was. They gave me a claim number and told me who was going to be assigned to it. They also told me that they would contact me within 24 hours. They picked super good people for the dishwasher that quit working. Out of however many years I've been dealing with AHS, they've been super good except for one deal. A guy came out for my power ventilators. I couldn't get him and AHS had to send somebody else. A week went by and it was somebody they were trying. I told them anytime it takes a week for somebody to come out, don't even call me. I'm not interested in them.

    Other than this guy, all of these people have been professional and that's what I like. I don't like stupid. I came from the banking world and my deal is that I want somebody that's trained. I want somebody that does a good job and who we can interact with. I want them to take care of business. I'm happy with AHS. It's peace of mind to me. We're originally from Louisiana. We've been in Mississippi for about six years and I don't know who to call. AHS pretty much does everything and I would recommend them to other people.

    When the contractor for my toilet first came out, they observed that the nature of the first work order was no longer applicable because they identified they were gonna have to replace the toilet, whereas my first order was more or less a repair. It was gonna turn into a replacement job and they didn’t have a toilet on the truck at the time, they had to come back out. So, it was up to them to reschedule with the warranty company or at least give the warranty company feedback that that was what they were doing. They took a week to do that and then, they got scheduled for the next week. So, the delay would have been on their end.

    AHS has been good. It’s one of those things where I'm almost hopeful certain things break. Obviously, I'm not gonna make anything break but I am concerned a little bit long-term about the quality of the contractors. More often than not, these are contractors I’ve never heard of. They're not advertising on TV and they don't have websites that are polished. I wish there was a little control over who the actual contractors were that you can choose from in the network. It seems like there's a certain level of contractor that partners with the home warranty companies and some of the bigger operations that have a lot of their own stuff don't.

    I wish I could be more selective sometimes or maybe I can do some research on a couple of partners that the home warranty is considering even though that might make the process a little longer. You can get there eventually but more often than not, American Home Shield just picks one. So, I wish that that was more of a process. But overall, it's decent. To their credit, there is some functionality there. I've seen it before but it hasn't been the case recently. Usually, I put my request in, and then I get a notice that so and so contractor is gonna be reaching out to me.

    I had an electrical repair request out and that was with one company who did a great job. The tech came, assessed, and was able to repair the problem. He was in and out within 10 minutes. However, I have had challenges in the past. On my refrigerator claim, It was extremely frustrating that I had to wait almost an entire year before I was given a cash-out to replace my refrigerator. It was during an incident where I had to put my items in a cooler on my patio for Christmas and I was in the middle of preparing a holiday dinner for my family and guests. So that was extremely uncomfortable.

    I had a repair technician come out several times and I was told that they needed to order a part to repair the refrigerator. Then I was told on several occasions that due to COVID, there was an issue with delays in deliveries. That went on for about eight months and I continued to call every week. Things like that have really turned me away from American Home Shield. Also, have two properties that I am using American Home Shield for. One is my primary home and I have a second property that is much smaller. However, I am paying a higher premium for the smaller property, which I find extremely unusual.

    The beginning with American Home Shield was a little rough with my paperwork. In the end, they fixed it, but it should have been activated right away. But I had to wait three weeks because they kept telling me I wasn't active, but I was active. When I sent in a claim, the first person that came was very good. I had a problem with a leak in my refrigerator and he diagnosed the problem. He fixed the problem. Then I had another leak. So I re-called again and they're coming out. The service is very good. They're very clean. They cleaned up after themselves. The company itself called back right away, but my understanding is that the appointment was supposed to be within 48 hours. But the appointments they scheduled me were a week out. So I called two days ago and my appointment is not until Monday. They said they're very, very busy and they can't come out any sooner. But they were very nice on the phone.

    We've had a number of claims that we've had to pursue and they've been great on every one of them. We're really happy and satisfied with AHS. They've taken care of all the issues that we've submitted. We had a problem with our air conditioning where it was not cooling off. Apparently our coil went bad, which is a pretty expensive part of the system. They replaced it and filled it up and everything works great. So we were really happy about that one.

    We had a dishwasher that went out. The problem was the circuit board and they replaced that without any problems. We also had a circuit board on our microwave that went out. It turned out that the circuit board was more expensive than a new one. So they sent us a brand new microwave and installed it for us. So we were really happy with that. The contractor that came out for the AC was very respectful. They did great and I was really pleased with them. The last claim was for our garbage disposal. We thought we had a leak in it and the tech took care of it and fixed it right up for us.

    The only thing is that it's really hard to get ahold of AHS. After we filed the initial complaint, it goes really quickly. But with our dishwasher, the circuit board took about four weeks to get the new one in. We called the repair person a couple of times to inquire about the status of it and when he thought it'd be in. He kept telling us we had to call AHS. But I could not get through to anybody after two hours on the phone of just being on hold. So it's really hard to reach them after the fact if you just have a question or want to check on a repair status.

    I have a hot tub and a spa, and the motor went out on it. John had to order the part, and then he came back the next day and fixed it by noon. My wife was happy ‘cause she only missed two days of going out there into the spa. I always like it when John comes out here. He does a good job. Usually, if I put in a claim that night, he calls me by the end of the day the next day. He comes out and checks on it, and he goes to get the part. Usually, he has it fixed the next day.

I’m sure I have saved money with them over the years. They keep going up on their price though. When I started, it was at 60 bucks and then it has gone up. They went up this year too. Now, it's 160 bucks. Still, it’s been worth it to me, except my air conditioner would never go out. I was hoping it would, and they would have to replace it. My air conditioning was 15 years old and I kept waiting on it to die. It never died, so I went ahead and replaced it this year.

    I was having some problem with the toilet. The tech came and looked at it and changed something. It helped, but it didn't quite fix it. So, then he had the follow up visit. The second time around, he fixed it. I've had American Home Shield since I bought the house and so far, so good. I've had some bad experiences with some of the contractors, but AHS has been good about sending somebody else and not charging me again. I appreciate that.

    There was one time this person came to check the sink because I said there was a leak. By the time he came, it was a couple days later and it was a little better because I had to take all the water out with buckets. There was still a little leak and he didn't even look at it. To me, that was pretty bad service. I expect him to at least check it. I even showed him pictures. He was already saying there was no problem. I was not happy about that. That was when AHS sent me somebody else to compensate for the bad job of that one company. I wish that we could select the contractor rather than wasting the time having somebody that is not really good come and having to have somebody else come.

    The refrigerator would cycle for a little while then shut off. It wasn't consistently cooling. I called American Home Shield and they told me I would get a tech out. The next day, they went ahead and told me who the tech assigned was. They took their fee out right then and there, which I'd ask them wait till maybe the tech came out. The tech came out that afternoon and determined that it needed a part. He did adjust it and it worked for about half a day. I emailed him back. He called me back and said it would have to be the part. He indicated he would go ahead and get with American Home Shield.

    I waited two days for that to happen. I emailed the technician back and he called me. He did say that American Home Shield had ordered but it would be several days. According to American Home Shield's rules, if it's over a certain amount of money, they have to order. The technician here locally couldn't. That was about five work days of delay. That was kind of uncalled for 'cause I know the tech here locally could have gotten it himself. But he said he had to follow their procedures. Once he finally got the part from American Home Shield, he put it in and it's working fine so far. He knew his stuff and was very professional. He provided real good service and kept me informed.

    I scheduled a pre-summer HVAC unit tune-up that American Home Shield was offering for $75. It was a great deal and it was just a couple of quick clicks to go ahead and get that process started. Oasis Heating and Air Conditioning of Oklahoma sent out a technician and he found that the condenser was faulty. He replaced it and in doing so, had to submit it and do the process through his company and American Home Shield. The communication that the technician provided was fantastic.     We had a gas leak in the house and that claim didn't come out very well. The contractor made it clear that they would repair the leak but they wouldn’t find it. I had to have a plumber come out and find it. It was as easy to have him fix the leak as opposed to going back to American Home Shield. I thought it would be covered by it but there's always the fine print. I should have read the contract before I thought of calling them. With the exception of the gas line, I was fairly pleased with American Home Shield. We had our washing machine which was quite old die and that claim worked out very well. They gave us cash for what we would needed to buy a similar machine. They didn't replace it with all the upgrades which I understood. The other claim was for a water heater. I also took a cash settlement with them as opposed to having to have their person come out.

    The fridge was not turning on and the contractor that American Home Shield sent out is a very good company. The technician is very good. He explained the process. Everything wasn't done the same day and he explained they had to get parts. It was excellent work. American Home Shield has improved because I've had a lot of back and forth with them in the past. But this company they sent was able to work on things efficiently. Also, American Home Shield responded quickly. But I have a problem with the claim for my stove. I called the company because I thought they didn't come back. But I was informed that they have ordered parts and they're still waiting for that, and that American Home Shield is the one who buys the parts. They told us they will come back out when they get the parts.

    The service from AHS has been beneficial and a little timely. But one service that I was not impressed with at all was from S&S Appliance out of Alabama. They took a really long time to call. Then, I set up a five-hour window and they never called and they never showed. The system made another appointment for two weeks out and I could never get in touch with a person. This was my freezer. But the guy that came out and fixed it was fine. He was responsive, although he could not fix the icemaker. AHS has authorized me to purchase a new one.

    The heat had gone out on a Saturday morning. The contractor wasn't able to get out here till Monday to fix it because of the time constraints. But they fixed the problem in five minutes when they got here and explained it. They knew what they were doing. A shut-off switch got blown out because we had a bad windstorm prior to that. We had called for another company, not American Home Shield, on our own to get it fixed beforehand but they were completely incompetent. We had also called American Home Shield about a sink issue but it wasn't covered. Still, it pays to have American Home Shield though I had difficulty understanding the woman on the phone. She spoke English but I couldn't understand the accent.

    My air conditioning was repaired last October incorrectly, which destroyed many parts. October is fall and we don't use the air conditioner in the wintertime. When I turned the unit on, it seized. When the new person came out to look at it, he said whoever repaired it the first time did not repair it correctly and they caused the whole engine to seize. He replaced the motor and the fan 'cause that was seized.

    The first company also exchanged my thermostat and I mentioned to the second company that came out that I wasn't happy that they exchanged it for a lesser value one. The repairman said that he reported it to American Home Shield and that they would be sending them back out to give me a thermostat that was comparable to the one that they took off. I've never heard anything though. I also had to beg American Home Shield to not have to pay the additional $100 since it wasn't fixed correctly in the first place. Still, I'm not dissatisfied with the warranty company. It's the service that they have contracted with that was the problem.

    My son looks after the management of American Home Shield. He emailed the claim first and we were assigned a different company. He called and said he didn't want that company because we had a bad experience with them. He told them who we wanted. Union Services Air Conditioning had been here before, and they're very professional. The tech is very knowledgeable. He called me in the morning, around 9:30, and said he would be here between 11:00 and 12:00. He arrived at 11:30 and tested the system. It was the AC. He found the problem right away, he fixed it, and he was finished in little over half an hour. He was very professional. He was very strict about the COVID guidelines, wore a mask and stayed way back. He didn't even come in the house. He got me to check the thermostat, and he went in the garage and checked the breakers. It went very well.

    The gas company came out when I submitted a claim with AHS. There was a gas leak between the hot water tank and the gas plumbing. But, they said that it’s a plumbing issue because it’s pipes.     I've used AHS many years ago, so I decided to try them again. I had a water heater go out, so I called them and they wrote it up as water heat. It took three weeks to get somebody to do anything about it then finally, I got a little irritated and told them what I thought of their company. They said they needed to send somebody else out to come look at it and I told them that the plumber they sent out already temporarily fixed it. He was waiting for them to approve it. But they had to disregard the first time they came out, sent somebody else out to turn around and replace the water heater which had already been temporarily bypassed because their people wrote it down as water heat and not water heater.

    So I had another company come out and I made sure I wasn't billed my co-pay of it. I don't even know if the first guy even got paid for coming out on a Saturday to temporary bypass it because he got mad at them and told them he waited three weeks to finish the job and they told him they had to give it to somebody else because it was a new ticket going. Despite that, he was awesome and and he came out right away. And even though he knew the whole situation, he looked at the problem, got all the information he needed, came back, and submitted it. The issue was on the miscommunication from the people that American Home Shield had working who did their job wrong.

    The capacitor in my air conditioning unit was not functioning. I didn't know that at the time so I made another call previously for air conditioning tune-up. The contractor couldn't complete that service and Blessed Cooling-N-Heating came out afterwards and fixed that for me. The AC is now functioning as it should. The repair guy, Aaron, was very nice and cordial. He communicated very well and was very accommodating. He came earlier than he said because he was able to squeeze me in earlier so that was great.     I'm still in the midst of trying to get American Home Shield to help me fix my dishwasher, and they're having trouble doing so. There's a piece that's leaking from it. AHS sent someone out to come try and fix it. But our dishwasher didn't have a readily available serial number that the repair person could use to punch in to find the exact part that they needed so they said they weren't able to fix it. But they said that AHS should be able to send someone else out who could potentially fix it. I call AHS every day and they tell me that they're waiting for another person to be authorized to come out and it should be authorized within 24 to 48 hours, but it has been over a week and nothing has changed.

    We submitted another claim for a rekey and that didn't go great as well. The company that AHS had who was supposed to do the rekey kept canceling the request. It took four times for me calling up and saying, “Look. I need to get a rekey, but don't use this same company because they keep canceling.” And then after the fourth try, they finally tried another company. And then we were able to get that taken care of.

The policy is that once you call in a work request, within 24 hours, you should hear from the contractors. Sometimes, it goes longer than expected. They need to work on getting the contractors to abide by the standards. I understand there are a lot of work orders to put in, but the contractors should inform AHS when they can't fulfill their obligations. Recently, the waterline somehow got clogged up and water was leaking inside of the refrigerator itself. But the contractor knew exactly what was going on. He went right to the source.

    We had some stoppage in our line going out to the septic tank. American Home Shield immediately responded that they received the claim that I submitted online. Then they tell me when a contractor is assigned and when to expect their call. Stewart Plumbing came out the next day. I was very happy with their work. Stewart only did the line. But American Home Shield went ahead and had the septic tank pumped the day after Stewart came. Things seem to go out at the same time when you buy them at the same time, and American Home Shield has really helped the pocketbook. This company has really come through for us.

    We have a microwave that's built-in above the stove. First off, the handle to open the door broke off. Then eventually, the frame around it broke. So, in trying to tape it up, it became very obvious that it was not gonna be reparable by us. So, we called American Home Shield and asked if they could get it fixed. A tech came out and did a phenomenal job. He had to order the part. It is an older microwave. He was very prompt. As soon as he got it, he called and came over the same day that he called and replaced it. He did a great job, and we're very happy.

    I’ve got nothing but good things to say about the contractors we’ve used and American Home Shield. I've had AHS since I bought the house almost 15 years ago. I’ve only used them about six times in that period, but every time that I did, I felt like it was money absolutely well spent. We had another situation where our water heater sprung a leak, and they had somebody out within three hours. They looked at it. It's a very small space because I’m in a townhome. We were without hot water for a day. They ordered a new one that is a bigger capacity, and it heated up the water faster. There was a deductible. It was 700 bucks to get an old water heater taken out, buy the new one, get it delivered, and get it put in. I did the research and was not even a third of what it would've cost us. They were fantastic. I have recommended American Home Shield. My dad and his wife use them now. Our next-door neighbors use them as well.

    We have a home warranty with American home shield (AHS) for the past 3 years. We did not need any service until last week and we found out that their commitment and service was a scam. We opened a service request under Electric and Doorbell. They assigned a contractor and these people told us the doorbell needs to be replaced and they said they would be back with the replacement. I received an e-mail from AHS that says "your service was completed, please rate your experience" just after they left our home.

    We waited 24 hours, assuming that it was an automatic e-mail. We tried to contact the electrician, however, he never called us back. After talking to 3 different AHS agents we found out that they had closed our request by stating that it is an intercom issue rather than a doorbell and AHS doesn't cover it. I was on the phone for more than 3 hours trying to get help for my issue, which I'm adding the print screens from my phone.

    1- AHS works with random contractors, there is no paperwork, inspection report and what we were told and what AHS is telling us did not match.

    2- They ripped the doorbell from the wall and left it like that- AHS does not take responsibility for the damage.

    3- After waiting 24 hours we called the electricians, leaving a voice mail without response, and later found out they had closed the request without even checking the electrical problem

    4- After waiting an hour on the phone I was told that I will be talking with a supervisor, named Jessica, she promised to investigate the issue and call us back at she never did.

    I received another e-mail from AHS stating that I was charged a service fee for this fiasco.

    What we did:

    1- Called AHS again, and requested a repair for the ripped doorbell - they said it is not their responsibility (they are sending these people our home and then saying it is not their responsibility which doesn't make sense)

    2- Called AHS to cancel our contract to find out I had to pay an administration fee to be able to cancel - which took another 50 minutes phone call.

    We were left with a broken doorbell thanks to AHS' contractors, I could dispute the service fee through my bank; however, I paid $574 already to AHS this year only to waste 3-4 hours on the phone trying to explain why I now have a broken doorbell. As far as we are concerned home warranty especially AHS is throwing money away. We are very disappointed.

    Sears came out for my refrigerator because it wasn't freezing. Everything in my refrigerator's spoiled. They told me they couldn't find the part for the refrigerator. AHS said they would give me money to replace the refrigerator. AHS sent me somebody right away, but they only gave me five days to make a decision about the refrigerator. They also advertise that you can get a replacement compatible with what you have. But the refrigerator that they gave me to replace my refrigerator had an ice maker, but it didn't have an ice maker with an ice crusher and water. So, it wasn't the same as my refrigerator. It wasn't the same brand either.

    The tech from Sears didn't do a good job too. Because he submitted something to them that wasn't described to me clear enough about what was going on with my refrigerator. He was new. Everything he did, he had to read and call someone else for assistance. I've been with AHS for a long time. They used to be excellent. But right now, they're giving some pretty bad service. They're nothing like what they used to be.

American Home Shield sent an email to the company and never got a response. Then I called again months later, asking what was the status of the service request. One of the agents called the company and was told that the job has been marked as complete. So all these months, the work has never been done, and the company marked the job as complete and apparently received payment from American Home Shield too, as well as my $100 deductible.

    I called the plumbing company and offered to send them pictures of the pipe because it’s rusted at this point because it's been leaking for so long. They said they didn't want pictures and that they were not going to come back out to even look at it. I've had trouble in the past and my experience has always been horrible, but this is the most recent and the worst scenario that I have experienced.

    I first started with American Home Shield when I had a home in Virginia. When I purchase one in California, it was a home that had some other insurance on it. I quickly put them off and went back to my American Home Shield. I've never had an issue with their contractors coming out to service anything or replace something. Whenever I had a problem, it was quickly resolved. I love it.

    When I have a claim, I just log on to my account and submit for whichever property I have a problem with. I go down the list to see which item it is. Once I do that, I submit then I automatically get a text and an email to state that the request has been accepted. Whoever American Home Shield provides to do the service will be in contact with me. I like the ease of the app and being able to do everything online. I also like getting a response quickly. I had a claim where the problem turned out to be the Freon. Someone was sent out and I didn't have to wait for weeks. The problem was resolved very quickly and I paid $200. The tech was great.

    My washing machine was shaking itself away from the wall and out into the room, which was strange. Sears came out, troubleshot it and ordered some parts. I started to get the parts in the mail, but one of the parts that they ordered took a long time to come in. After a couple of weeks, I called them and they said, "Well, this one part's on order. And which parts do you have?" I said, "I have these three." "No. You need the fourth one." At some point, it had gone over 30 days, so Sears said, "Well, we're gonna have to contact American Home Shield and tell them that we can't get the parts. And they'll get in touch with you about a replacement." I waited a week and then I called American Home Shield.

    AHS said, "We don't have the thing from Sears yet," so then I called Sears back. They said, "Oh, yeah. We gotta tell American Home Shield." In between that three-week gap, the part came in then Sears came out and fixed the machine. However, when my wife went to run a load of laundry, the thing is now making such a sound. It seems like it's in overdrive. It's spinning and loud like it's gonna completely blow up. I told the girl to stop using it and called American Home Shield. The Sears guy is coming back out today to address that issue. Hopefully that'll get resolved today.

    I've used American Home Shield on my home when I first got here in Georgia in 2009 and then I kept that policy when the home was a rental. When I bought my second house, I have American Home Shield on it too. They have replaced the refrigerator for me because the guy couldn't fix it 'cause of a part problem. They have serviced and replaced my washing machine. They've done air conditioning work too. They are completely responsive. It's seamless. They've never said they weren't gonna pay for anything. I pay my premium and my deductible and I'm satisfied with American Home Shield as a provider of the service that they do. There are other providers, but they've been great. I'm gonna move soon, and I expect to buy a policy from them on my next property.

    The compressor that was attached to the air conditioner had broke and it need to be replaced. It was the best service I've ever had from American Home Shield in over 15 years. The tech came in, saw the problem, diagnosed it for five minutes and said he had to order the part. The part was in within two days. He got it replaced within an hour and we were good to go. There was no fighting back and forth about what was gonna be covered or not or me having to cover little extra parts. It was the easiest thing I've ever had to do with American Home Shield ever.

    I've had incidents where stuff would break and the contractor would come and fix and then it would break a month later. I've had issues where the contractor would come in and then American Home Shield would say the part isn't covered. I had issues where stuff would break and they'd say, "Okay. We'll cover this, but not the other part." Or I have covered a certain section of labor. I’ve had some hit-and-miss experiences, but mostly missed.

    I've had one thing that had to be repaired and then they weren't able to get a contractor there for about three weeks to even come look at it. Then they've had to order a part. So American Home Shield could expand their services to additional contractors. Also, rather than potentially encouraging contractors to use repaired parts or encourage them to repair mechanical items 50 times, they can just let them replace it. American Home Shield is really good for large, expensive items when they break. They replaced a whole HVAC system for me but then I found as I sell the house, it wasn't replaced with a new unit. It was replaced with an older unit. I enjoy American Home Shield when I don't have to drop large sums of money for repair and frustrated with it when I have to fight the private bureaucracy of it.

    The heating element in our oven blew up one day. My wife was baking something and there was this puff and smoke. We called the service number and Aurora Appliance called us back and they were out on the afternoon of the next day. They didn't have the part but they ordered and was back in a couple of days. They installed it and everything was fine. Having American Home Shield is great because we didn't even know who to call to get the oven repaired.     We had taken American Home Shield up on an offer to have somebody come for spring tune-up special for $75. They sent Warren Mechanical out. Our unit was functioning fine and as soon as Warren Mechanical came out, they said it was completely broken. It wasn't going to work and they'd have to come back out and fix it the next day. We put in another ticket and that was when the other company came out. The tech said, “They turned everything off.” He turned it on and it works just fine and we've had no problem.

    We had a rekeying done and one of the keys is not working so we may have to request it again. I was gonna call American Home Shield to say that one rekey was done, but it wasn’t working. I scheduled for the electric today and I wanted to schedule for the roof. I added an additional $150 for the whole year for the roof and I was surprised that my option was not available on the website to do any appointment for the home.     Every once in a while, American Home Shield does something good but sometimes it's hard to get something done. It took a while to get things happening with my recent claim. It took almost a month. But the person who came out took care of what we needed and did a great job. We also had somebody out from a company a while ago and when we needed somebody again, I called this company and they said that American Home Shield wouldn't work with them anymore. So it seems like whoever works with American Home Shield doesn't work with them very long.

    AHS has been useful. They replaced my oven in December and I looked it up at Lowe's and it's $3500. The Draingo guy that came out for my plumbing issue was so polite, kind and respectful. But it was the GE guy that wasn’t honest about what was going on. He told me he had ordered a boot for my dishwasher. He scheduled me 10 days later. But I noticed it was closed on American Home Shield. They were supposed to send him out again but he didn't come. He called and they charged American Home Shield a service charge. He just called to say, “I talked to American Home Shield and I'm done with it.”

    I had a roof leak on a flat EPDM roof for a house that was built in 2012. I was concerned that it was the base of the HVAC unit. The vendor came out and confirmed that that was not the source of my leak. But there was still a leak but that wasn't related to the American Home Shield. That was just a different household project. But they were on time, courteous, and very professional in helping me isolate the source of the roof leak. Then they checked the size of the system and did a great job. With American Home Shield, I have peace of mind that if my appliances and the core parts of the house like HVAC or microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher have coverage break, it's more of a predictable budgeted expense rather than a huge sudden out-of-pocket expense.

    American Home Shield did good. We’re just waiting on a response right now on something that has to be taken care of. They gave us a quote and it was for Crystal to have to pay, but we asked them to give us another option. Saturday, they came and sent her an email and let her know that they have come to an agreement on a certain amount of money that she would have to pay. But she told them that's not an option for her and that she needed them to give her another one. Yesterday, they were supposed to send her some kind of forms. They were gonna agree on giving her a payout. So, she has to look at those forms and agree to that. This is the first thing she has called AHS for, but they let her know one option and now they're gonna send her another one. I just hope that they call back and they give that right now because she doesn't have an air conditioner.
