Unfortunately, the techs who came out were unable to fix my air as of yet. They said it was a compressor, but it wasn't the compressor. Now they're saying I need a new unit. It's been about 30 days that I've been out of air so far. They said that they were gonna replace it. But that was about a week ago. But past services with AHS were great. I also submit claims online with AHS and they usually respond relatively quickly.
Hello Kahil. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. I apologize that your repair for the HVAC system has been delayed.
Our team will be reaching out to you directly to assist with this matter. We will reach out to you via the email address listed on your service account.

I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield because their contractors are so bad. It's good, but they hire the contractors. Ice was accumulating outside of our AC unit, so I did a claim for it. They had Metro Air Services come but they didn't do anything. They didn't even spend one minute in my house and they said, "This is the problem," and it was not. I wasted my money. I hired a private company and they came and said, "Oh, the motherboard is not working." The AC is perfect now.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience regarding the air conditioner repairs. I’d be happy to speak with you further to address any concerns or issues you may have.

I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield. People will have the issues with the service technicians coming out and diagnosing the correct problem. I like the customer service, but they need to make sure that they have technicians that are local. My washer wasn't agitating correctly, the dishwasher wouldn't turn on, and a burner on my stovetop wasn't regulating properly. To submit the claim, I initially used American Home Shield's app, followed by a phone call, which was an easy process. However, it's the part after that that gets sticky. It's regarding them sending out reputable service providers.
They wanna send people from Tennessee and I'm in Louisiana. They wanna send people from Baker and that's still a long way off from where I am. It's hit or miss. You get a provider that would come out, and they would complete the job but I would have to call back because I haven't heard again from them after their initial visit. Or they came out and gave a report that they couldn't fix it, but I would call and get a second opinion and the next technician AHS would send out would actually provide the service. I've had them for 20 years. That's why I'm so upset about what's going on.

The fan in the unit would come on and blow while the unit was off. I was trying to find out why it was doing that. Each time the person from American Home Shield came, only thing he did was turn it off at the thermostat and turn it back on. He came three times and did the same thing. They never looked at the unit.
Now, if I hired them as an independent company, they would go and look at it. But through American Home Shield, if the unit is functioning, if it turns on, it turns off when tested, they consider that no defect and they can't do anything else. So that was the end of that. That was on the third visit. I didn't call them anymore.
According to AHS’s contract, even if they have to replace something, they're only gonna go up to $5,000. And a new heating and cooling system is double that. So I didn't even want to be bothered anymore. I even asked them if they could send somebody else, another contractor. They said, no, they couldn't. If the same problem is going on, that person that they assigned has to come back. They came back three times. Three strikes, you’re out.
I said, "I have had other home warranty companies. They would at least go and see and try to pinpoint what the problem is." I had to go outside of AHS and call somebody who identified the problem, but I had to pay for it. And then I canceled American Home Shield.

It took almost a month for my AC to get repaired. When I made a service call with American Home Shield, they assigned a contractor who scheduled an appointment. But on the scheduled day, it rained. So they could not open the AC. Then they ordered the parts and it took more than three weeks to get finally get the AC fixed. Also, I had to call American Home Shield a couple of times for me to get updates on what was going on. It was very hot and I had to cancel a lot of plans with my family because they weren't able to come since my AC was not working. Overall, I have mixed feelings about American Home Shield because getting tings repaired takes way too much time.
Thank you for your honest review, Gouri. We appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give us another chance in the future to provide you with a more positive experience. Sincerely, Marc

I got the new water heater installed and something got switched off. The guy from Precision Engineering came and checked everything. He was able to get it back on for us. He was very professional, and the service was good, quick and efficient. I recently closed on the property I'm living in now and I got American Home Shield at around the same time, which has been less than a year. It’s been a good experience. Everyone throughout this process has been professional. I got a phone call where the rep explained all the services offered and what my specific plan offers. Everyone's been very respectful during the process, and the price is very reasonable.
Thank you so much for sharing your positive feedback! Our goal is to be there for you whenever repairs are needed in your home, and your review shows we’re accomplishing just that. We truly appreciate your trust in us and are grateful to have you as a valued AHS member.

I had to wait two weeks before I could have air right in the middle of summertime. The guy from Cold Air came out, diagnosed a problem, and said he was going on vacation and would be back until the next week. I was without air. He said he told American Home Shield that he was gonna be away. So, that was between him and American Home Shield. It's just if he was gonna be away for a whole week, he could have conducted that better. There was a part that has to be ordered and he had the part delivered when he got back, which was a week later. And when he got back and got the part, what they ordered was wrong. So, I had to wait another week for them to readjust the order and for him to come out and complete the job suffocating in the heat. If he was gonna be away for a vacation after he discovered the problem, he could have had another technician come out and finish it.
Rita, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry for the delays and lack of communication you encountered during a critical time. We understand how difficult it must have been to go without air conditioning in the summer heat, and we regret that better coordination wasn’t in place to avoid the extended wait.

The quality of American Home Shield's service is decent, but the cost to get someone out went up $50. It was $75. Now, it's $125 within the last year. On my recent claim involving Waldorf, they were supposed to have a camera snake and they didn't have it. So, they didn't do anything and just referred everything back to American Home Shield. I waited for such an extended period of time. And then when I call back to try to follow up, they told me I had to pay again before they could send somebody else out. I had to end up finding a service myself. The other services were really good. The plumbing services just didn't benefit me.

Our AC needed a part replaced. The work that the technician did was fine. They had to order a part and had to come back in about five days. In the end, they addressed the issue. The technician and American Home Shield are two different things in my eyes. The technician, at some point, was refusing to get a ladder which he knew he was gonna need. When I was waiting for someone to bring the ladder, he was trying to leave. We were having to call his supervisor to get him to stay. It was really a lot. Other than that, his work was good and the AC is working.
As far as American Home Shield, they are the worst. I'm actively looking for other services. This is not the first time I had this issue. It took them three weeks for me to even get a technician out, and then another week for the technician to fix it. We had no air in our home for almost a month in the heat of July. When I first reached out to them, they assigned a technician. That technician called me that same day and told me they don't do high rise apartments, so they couldn't come. I asked them if they would let American Home Shield know and they said I could tell them.
I immediately called American Home Shield who then said they had to reach out to the company to confirm that they said this, and then they'd assign somebody else. So, they called the company. The company confirmed. AHS said they were gonna assign somebody else. I waited a couple of days. No one was ever assigned. I called back, and they said, “Oh, well this has been marked as unable to get access.” I told them that was not true. No one ever came out. The technician told me that they couldn't do the work because it was a high-rise. Not only was it marked as that, but they had closed it out. I told them that was unacceptable. They said they'd see if they could find somebody else. They said I would hear from a supervisor because at that point, I was frustrated.
I didn't hear from a supervisor. I called back in a day or so, and no one was still assigned. Then they said they don't have anyone who could do the work so they were not able to help me with it. I paid for someone out of my pocket to come look at my system. I called them back and said, “No. You all need to find someone. If you have a list of technicians and none of them do it, then you need to find someone else or give me the money to find a technician. I've already paid somebody out of my pocket.” They said they could find somebody, but I'm gonna have to pay again. I just paid another guy $100 to come out, and they were telling me to pay another $100.
They said they refunded the first $100, so I could just give that back to them. At that point, I haven't received the refund. They said there was nothing they could do if I didn't pay again, so I paid again. I finally got a person out. Because of all these conversations back and forth and me arguing with them, I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. It took three weeks for them to even get a person out the first time. It was a mess. This is not my first time having a similar experience with them, too. I don't like them.
Hello Natasha,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your experience on the Air conditioning work order. I will be contacting you via email regard the work order that is currently open and the service fee refund you should have received.Best regards,

The tech from A-US Air didn't communicate very well. I wasn't really impressed with that company and on the man. Then I got charged $275 extra because he said that the cleaning of the AC outside wasn't included in my plan. I put out the $100 service fee, so I paid 375 for this whole visit just for him to go outside for two seconds. He just cleaned one side of the AC outside. He didn't take it apart. For 275, he did very little, and he wasn't very informative about anything. I’m thinking about just going to a different home warranty because if that's gonna be the case, then I'm gonna be double-charged and I can't afford that.
Thank you for allowing us to provide home warranty services to you. We understand your concerns upon learning that the repair was not fully covered. While your HVAC system may be a covered item, there are specific exclusions outlined in your warranty terms.

Extreme Heating & Air kept coming out and they kept telling me to turn the AC off before they came for at least 12 hours, so when he would come, he would be able to turn it back on. The first time, he said there was nothing wrong with it at all. It just needed new air filters. But they’re only six months because Home Depot comes out to my house and does a check on them too for me. The AC turned cool for a day. Then, I had to call the techs back. They came again and put some more Freon in the AC and changed the coolant. It lasted for a half a day, and then went out again. When I called him and he came out again, I was told to turn it off and he said it was turning back on and cooling. I told him it does not cool and my house is 95 degrees. They said there was nothing wrong, so I requested a second opinion. I called American Home Shield again because the house was still hot, and they sent someone back out who again said there was no issue. After that, AHS approved a second opinion.
The second technician immediately said the motor was blown. Once it was confirmed, they replaced the motor. Because it was a second opinion, it had to go through an additional approval step with American Home Shield, which took about four or five days. The system is working fine now. Overall, AHS is very responsive but with this latest experience, they did not take into consideration the weather conditions with expediting my second opinion. They made me go another round, so that was not a good experience.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We're glad our response time met your expectations, but we're truly sorry the A/C repair process was frustrating and prolonged—especially during the summer heat. We understand how important timely and effective service is, and your experience highlights areas where we can improve.

I had a six-week long problem with an oven, and it was simple to fix. I made a service request with American Home Shield and the first tech they sent out was from AG. At this point in time, the oven worked except on bake mode. So you could broil and use the convection. The tech was a really nice kid and he was right out of trade school. He said the oven was 20 years old, so he didn't think they'd be able to fix it because he didn't think they'd be able to get the part. Then he said he was going to order two parts. I then called American Home Shield and I had to wait 40 minutes to get somebody on the line who was in customer service. However, they said they couldn't anything until they got the report from the technician. And that kid took three days to file a report.
American Home Shield's reps also had this complete talk track that they understood you were frustrated and that they were there to help. They said they were going to call AG Appliance and I told them good luck with that because I've been calling them for a week and their answering machine was fool. In the end, it took 10 days before the tech came back out and he still couldn't fix my oven. I don't know where American Home Shield gets their technicians, but this is Southern California and it's a lot more expensive than $99 to make a house call here. And these people are not competent. They have no idea what they're doing.
I finally told their customer service rep that I need them to escalate this and I asked to speak to a manager. When I got to her, she was really nice. She gave me her name and the same cellphone number which gets you absolutely nowhere but in a 40-minute loop line. Also, you couldn't rely on the website for the status of the claim. At the time, we were at two and a half weeks into this simple repair. American Home Shield then called back and said that they moved my service request over to Techno Appliance, which I am familiar with because they fixed my Bosch and GE Profile appliances. I've had them out before and their tech was a perfectly confident guy who doesn't speak English, but I don't care about that. He always has a handler with him who's the English-speaking person. He said it was going to be 10 days to get the part and this is the same part they just got from AG.
So he gets the part two weeks later and I hear nothing from them. So, now, it's been six weeks. I called American Home Shield, then I called Techno again to get an update. Then I got a text that said he would be at my house next Thursday at 9:30. By then, I had been at home waiting for these people. The first time was when the first tech came out to look at the oven. The second time was when he ordered the part. The third time was when the second tech came out to order the same part. So, I am not happy with American Health Shield. It's a scam.
In the end, my oven got fixed and it took six weeks. But I could have probably done it with a YouTube video. American Health Shield needs to do a better job with their customer service and with the technicians that they employ. They get the bottom of the barrel because who is gonna work for that low price? So we get what we pay for. I've had that this policy for seven years and I've used it twice. There were many times I didn't bother calling them because I couldn't wait six weeks. But it happened to be the summer and I don't use the oven that much in the summer. If it had been my washing machine or dishwasher, I would have just gone around it and got a new appliance. Because you cannot waste this kind of time with these people. Other than that, their online call in thing does work effectively. Because you sign it up and they have to get back to you in 72 hours, and they always do, which is fairly amazing.
Cathy, thank you for sharing your feedback with. We apologize for the delay in servicing your oven as we understand the appliance is essential in your everyday life. We appreciate your recognition of our online service request system and will use your comments to help strengthen the rest of our service experience.
Thank you for being a long-time customer—we value your trust and are committed to earning it back.

I'm very disappointed with American Home Shield. I have a claim for my refrigerator that has been going on since June 20th. The techs have come out four times already but it's still not fixed. When the first tech came out, he unsteamed the ice and did something with the water plug in the back. But four hours later, the problem was still be there. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent them back out. The second guy said it needed a part, so they ordered it. When it arrived at our home, I let them know and two days later, the first guy came out and put in the part that the second guy ordered. But the next day, I still had ice in the back and I had water coming down at the bottom on the refrigerator. It was putting ice all over my food and everything in the freezer.
So the second tech came back on a Tuesday and ordered another part. When it arrived, he came back out. But the refrigerator was still not fixed. They ordered another part then a guy came out and he did everything over. We told him that they keep doing the same thing, replacing the parts, but it was not working. Something needed to be done. The manager is supposed to call me on Monday, but since it was a holiday, I haven't heard from them yet. American Home Shield says that they have to have the service guy say what they think and if I need a replacement or not. But the tech we talked to said that that was not true. He said that American Home Shield told them to replace everything as long as they can. So, I've been back and forth and I'm very upset right now.
I've been with American Home Shield for 11 years and I never had this problem before at all. I will also tell my friends not to go to them anymore. After they resolve this, I'm looking for someone else. Before this happened, they got my problems fixed. But for this refrigerator, I have been complaining with them for four years now. They have replaced everything else like they were supposed to. They even went up to $104 a month but the service is getting worse. They're wasting my time and the contractor's because I only pay $100 deductible when they come out. But if they don't fix the problem, they're still coming out.
We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience with your refrigerator claim. We understand that this unit is an essential appliance in your home, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
We’d appreciate the opportunity to discuss your claim further and work with you directly to find a solution. A service specialist will follow up with you to address your concerns.

I'm paying American Home Shield on a regular basis for this coverage, but when there was an issue with my hot water heater, I ended up having to pay out-of-pocket because American Home Shield didn't have a vendor who could get to my home overnight and there was no way to stop the water from leaking without having the technician come.
Recently, the upstairs AC unit stopped working and there was a leak from the attic to the ceiling upstairs in the hallway. I made a claim and American Home Shield assigned Air Design to come out. Their tech got the work done in a timely manner because I was able to assist. He came without an extension cord and thankfully, I had one that was long enough. He needed it for the wet vac in order to remove the water that was upstairs. I was told that the technician used bleach to clear the line of the HVAC unit that's upstairs in my attic, and that he also cleaned the two units that are outside on the side of my home. Since the service, I have not had any more issues with the HVAC.
But I am still waiting for the tech to reply to my correspondence. I received an email from Air Design on July 30th asking me to give feedback regarding my experience, so I responded to that email on the same day. I also let him know that I am a student attorney under Georgia Rule 91 and that I was quoted one price for the cleaning of the units on the side of my house but I was charged a different amount. I let American Home Shield know that as well. I still have yet to hear back from him, so I followed up and told him it's been 30 days and still haven't heard from him.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. At AHS, our goal is to provide a smooth and reliable experience for every member, and we’re sorry to hear we fell short in your case. A service specialist will be reaching out to you directly to address your concerns.

I was hearing a drip when the AC stopped running. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they sent some techs out. It turned out that when the house was constructed, the ones who did the work didn't do what they were supposed to do in order to prevent things like that from happening. So, the techs took care of it. We were outside sitting in the garage while they worked. There were two of them. One of them went into the attic and was doing some stuff, while the other one went around the side where my AC unit is. They were very professional, not talking about this and that. They just came here to figure out the problem then once they figured it out, they told me what was going on, and they got on their way. Since the service, we haven't had a problem.
This experience was really good because I wasn't at home at the time. I was taking my mom to a doctor's appointment when they were enroute, and the tech held up so it didn't have to push me off to another date where I had to wait. I appreciate that. But I've had other issues with American Home Shield in Louisiana, not here in Georgia. My dad has American Home Shield in his home and my mom had it as well. Some companies they're contracted with are good and they communicate very well.
But one time there was one guy who was assigned to my mom's house that we had a problem with. My mom was disabled and he said he had to have somebody pick up the phone before he could head enroute. But we already decided the time for the appointment and I made sure that my mom was there. She knew he was coming but she couldn't make it to the phone because she was on a walker. He said if nobody picked up the phone, then he wouldn't go and I just couldn't understand why didn't he just show up. In contrast, I've had great experience in Georgia. I was very impressed with how they did things for me here, but not so impressed with how the guy did it in Louisiana. So, the quality of the service depends on the market.
We are committed to providing the best possible service and your feedback is instrumental in helping us achieve that goal. Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We look forward to serving you in the future and continuing to build a strong relationship.

American Home Shield is good to have. I recently dealt with them when the sprinklers were not coming on to empty the septic tank and the tank was near overflowing. I made a claim online then I was informed of the name and phone number of the assigned contractor. Then, the tech came out and gave us information so we wouldn't have to call someone out for the same problem again. Since then, everything has been functioning great. I like that American Home Shield is quick to respond, but I had to add additional services for my septic and my well. That should be part of what's included in a home warranty because a well and a septic are required.
Thank you so much for your detailed review and 5-star rating! We’re glad to hear your septic system issue was resolved and that the contractor provided exceptional service and helpful advice. It’s great to know everything is running smoothly now.
We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding coverage for septic and well systems. Your insights are valuable, and we understand how important these components are to your home’s functionality.

I was happy with ProTex Plumbing Heating and Air when they came out for my AC claim. They did a good job. He ordered the air conditioner. But, it just seemed like it was forever before it came in. When it came in, he put the air unit and set it up. But then when he tried to connect everything at the heat unit upstairs in the attic, it wouldn't connect. Because the furnace was so old and they weren't compatible. He tried to make it work but it wouldn't work. Then he had to order that other part. I still couldn't have my air until AHS sends the other pieces so that he could connect everything and get it all up and running. I was the whole month without air. But I didn't feel like it was the tech’s fault necessarily but it was just the way it turned out. I was also very pleased that I've got a new air conditioning unit now.
I had a problem with my water heater and they replaced that. And the guy that they sent was scary and rude. He didn't seem legit. But another time I had my heating looked at, the tech they sent was very friendly, clean, took care of things and nice. I liked the guy.
Then when I replaced my dishwasher, the amount they were gonna give me wouldn't have gotten me near than that. It was an old dishwasher, but it was a really good quality one. What I could have replaced it with would have been not a very good quality. I looked at the reviews. I ended up putting a lot of money with the money that AHS provided and I got a nicer dishwasher.
Thank you for seeing past any shortcomings to leave a review. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

The filter was leaking on the spa was leaking and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. They assigned Worry Free Pools and they were able to replace the broken sand filter. They did it in two days. It was perfect. In the nine years that I’ve been with AHS, the customer service has gotten better. It's fairly good now. There are a couple of items that I have had broken that they wouldn't cover. I wouldn't necessarily agree with them in the way they interpreted the contract versus the way I did. Also, I'm to the point now where I might shop for a different warranty company because my premiums are getting too expensive.
We truly appreciate your long-term commitment to American Home Shield and are pleased to hear about your positive experiences with our contracted repair services, including the timely resolution of your spa issue with Worry Free Pools. American Home Shield is a decent place to deal with. I had a claim for my AC and since it was old, it needed to be replaced. But American Home Shield would not replace it. They kept putting band-aids on stuff. The contractor, Cardinal Comfort, attempted to repair it, but it's still not working properly. They recommended that I put in another request to get it repaired again, but that takes money. The last time the techs were out, they had to replace a part for the heat because that wasn't working either. The heat and the air were both not working. So what they ended up having to do was replace a part for the air to work and they ended up having to barely clean it, then they replaced some kind of motor on it for it to work. But we're still suffering and the only reason why we're not complaining now as much is because the weather is changing where it's not as hot.
Other than that, American Home Shield's customer service reps were very helpful and excellent. They were returning the calls like they said they would. But I hate how much time it takes for some people to come out, because some people just don't want to do their job. And I can't hold that against American Home Shield because some might call one company, they might not even return your call. And that was an incident that I did run into. For my last claim, that was the reason why Cardinal Comfort was brought up was because the other company stopped picking up and returning calls. They just fell off. Also, American Home Shield did not want to replace the bigger priced items like my AC unit even if a request had been put in twice to have it replaced. Not only do I have problems with the air, I also have problems with the heat. And I'm afraid to turn my heat on because I don't know if it's even going to work.

The service with the AC was good. Express came for two different ACs. In one unit, they did what they could. I had to get a plumber out because it kept backing up. It kept leaking water. They tried to make me pay an additional fee and I told them it was all pertaining to the same issue, so they didn't charge me. They did the repair and it's working fine so far.
The only thing is I was disappointed because American Home Shield went up on my price, and I didn't know because my email was not working. It went up $26 and I thought that was a big jump. So, I called and I tried to explain to them that I live on a fixed income and that didn't work for me. It just was too much. I spoke with one of the representatives who must have gotten in touch with one of the supervisors and said that it was too late because it was two months later so I had to continue with the price. I asked her for someone in billing. I spoke with someone and explained the situation to her. I spent three months paying $26, but then she told me that they had a special offer, which brought me below what I was paying at first. I was really pleased with that but I had to go through hoops and loops to get there.
I do have some plumbing issues that I had going on. I have three bathrooms and it was upstairs in one of the bathrooms. I have been trying to get the issue solved since December of 2024. AHS sent three different plumbers out and companies. The first time, the first company wasn't good at all. I wouldn't want them to come back out. The other company came out, but it was just too long trying to get them to come out. I had to keep calling to schedule. I kept leaving messages and finally, they came out. They thought they fixed the problem but within a week or two, it started backing up again. I had to get my own plumber to come out, and the issue was solved. They couldn't do it. With American Home Shield, you can do whatever with plumbing. But to really get to the problem, you would have to pay that particular company out of your own pocket to go further because American Home Shield only let them do so much.
We greatly appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that your heating and air conditioning issue was resolved satisfactorily. It's reassuring to know that despite the bump in service charges, the special offer ultimately reduced your costs. We understand how important it is to manage unexpected expenses, especially on a fixed income. However, we're sorry you've faced some challenges with the plumbing issues. Thank you for bringing your experiences and suggestions to our attention, and for your continued trust in us. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

American Home Shield did wonderfully. There have been times where it's been really nice. But there are times that they send these people here, and they break the machine instead of fixing it. One of the guys from Agape that came up here was standing on my sofa to look at the aircon instead of going and getting his ladder. I had to scold him to get down. But they ended up fixing it. I've had other people with my plumbing for my water heater. They put in a new water heater that's less of a gallon. So now, we run out of hot water. I'm not happy and then American Home Shield is charging me around $300
American Home Shield has been pretty good about customer service. They tried their best. The workers were the ones coming to fix my place that some of them, I had to tell them to leave my home. They wanted me to sign something that wasn't even what they were doing. They didn't fix anything but they wanted me to sign. So there were people that they've sent up that was very questionable from what they were doing. The rate with American Home Shield started off good. Even at $200, I would get replacements off and on. So I thought that was good. But when they get up to almost $400 a month, I said, "Done." Plus a $100 if I have somebody come. It's almost $500 a month if I had something to fix every month. I didn't want it anymore. So I stopped it.
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback with us. Our goal is always to provide reliable service, and we're truly sorry to hear that this hasn't consistently been your experience.
We appreciate your input, as it helps us stay mindful of the areas where we need to improve.Best regards,

My system seems to have recovered and is running the way is intended to run. He did a good job. This is the second time I’ve spoken to American Home Shield and the customer service has always been courteous. I appreciate it, because I hate the digital setup nowadays. Speaking with a living person is a good thing. They were efficient and consistent with how they dealt with me.

My AC was not cooling and it needed an evaporator on the inside. Air Technical came out but didn’t do anything. They provided a quote to American Home Shield but won’t provide me one. I’m very dissatisfied because I bought a plan that's supposed to cover all my repairs and they are denying all of that. I asked for a second opinion and they still want to do the mom-and-pop shop. I told AHS to give me somebody recommended because I pay for reliable people. They could have sent good customer service out to my place to do repairs on these since they have a lot of small contractors. For some reason, they always talk about permits. I need to see a quote from the contractor because they're talking about $3,300 because they got a full permit. But the city of Fort Worth does not consider this in a permit. And AHS is talking about $1,000 to pull a permit and it's only $75 for to get one.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I understand the frustration this has caused and I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further to work toward a resolution.

Our air conditioner unit was not working. I called for the service for them to come out and check the unit. When they came out, there was a little bit of air blowing through the vents. They were supposed to go up into the attic and check the unit in the attic, as well as go outside and check the unit. However, I wasn't home but my husband was. He said that all they did was open the attic door and heard the unit turn on and never went up to the attic. That's number one.
Number two, because it was two of them, when they were supposed to go out to check the unit before he was done with the guy upstairs to look at the attic, the other guy was coming back from the unit. As it turned out, if they had looked at the unit, they would have seen that it wasn't working. They didn't do anything.
They never returned my call. They did not come out. I tried for several days. I even reached out to American Home Shield. No one came. American Home Shield said, "We're gonna call them." Every time I call them, all I got was the voicemail. I kept leaving messages and no one ever called back.
No one ever reached out until the last week. I already knew by then, that the unit needed to be replaced. I said, "Okay. Can someone come out and check this?" No one ever came out to look at it to see that the unit needed to be replaced and it was the hottest day of the summer. We got the unit replaced ourselves. So when they called me two weeks ago and said, "Oh, yeah. We're here." I said, "I don't need you now. Don't come out."
Cool Tech was horrible. But when I spoke to AHS, they were at least trying to help. They're also pretty good about getting people out, too. But, they're supposed to be reimbursing me the service fee since they did absolutely nothing. I haven't checked yet to see if it occurred or not.
Olivia, we would not be able to grow and improve without feedback like yours. Although we’re disheartened by your experience, we’re grateful for your feedback so we can work to prevent service delays and miscommunications from happening again. Sincerely, Marc

American Home Shield is a hit or miss. They are not always fair and most of the time, they do what's in their best interest, not to replace the item that needs to be replaced. More than once, they have used vendors that did not know what they were doing and did not fix the problem. I had a plumbing issue and AHS initially sent a dishwasher technician who said it was the plumbing. The plumber came and did the trouble assessment and said it was the machine. I requested somebody different to be sent but AHS sent the same company. Now, I was told that the problem they found is not covered under my policy. American Home Shield is a service that is necessary, but it's not a good company. It's not a loyal company to the customer.
The customer service is not a problem solver. They're more loyal to the company than to the clients or customers. They'll find any little bitty reason to deny a claim. And sometimes, they are accusatory. They will make it seem like that's something that you personally did, and that’s very offensive as well. I'm paying way too much for that poor quality of service. I wish I could find another company that I could switch to, because I'm not happy with AHS.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

The first time that American Home Shield sent out air conditioning people, our air conditioner wasn't working. They couldn't get out for a day or two, which was not a problem. My husband went around and messed with it and kind of got it going the morning that they came. So when they came, he said there was something wrong with it, but he got it going. They said if that was the case then there was nothing they could do. My husband asked for a service call but they said they couldn't do it because it was not on the ticket. One guy didn't even get out of the truck, and the other guy was rather short. We just left it at that. But then the next week, the AC started doing it again. So, my husband had to reset it about every day. So, there was something wrong with it.
In the meantime, I gave a bad review to the first company that came, and they sent me a really ugly text. They sent me this long text about how my husband threw them off the property. All he wanted was a service call. I told them, "That is a lie. Please call my husband," in this text. They never called and we never heard anything.
We kept having problems with the AC. So, I put in a request for a second review. We're supposed to get a call within 48 hours. I never heard anything. I gave it about a week. Still never heard anything. So, I called American Home Shield and they said they they sent them an email asking them what was going on. About another week or two, I called back and they had turned in an authorization to refuse service because my husband had thrown them off the property and would not even let them look at it. So, I told the lady, "Why would we request service and then throw them off the property? They're mad because I gave them a bad review. They were not nice. And I didn't give them a good review and it made them mad. So they don't wanna come back out."
The rep said since they've already got it authorized that they don't have to come, I'd have to turn in another request and pay another $100. I said, "No, that is not right, that is not right." She put me on hold and she called them, and they again said that we had refused to let them look at the air conditioner. She came back to me and I just kept arguing with her and then I said I wanted to file a complaint against this company because that was not right. I don't know how long I was on the phone. She finally put me through to somebody else and talked to them for a while. They also said it was over 30 days then so I'd have to put in another request.
I wanted to at least file a complaint, and they put me through somebody else. It was really odd because she had a rooster. It was really loud. I argued with her for a little bit and finally, she said, "Well, how about if I give you the $100 credit back from the first time and we turn in another request?" I told her that would work fine. I'd be happy with that as long as it's a different company. So she did her thing and she said they'd send this other company out. They came and they were very nice. We haven't had to reset the AC and it's been working fine. I had to do a lot of arguing, but at the end of it, I was satisfied.

We’ve been very disappointed with American Home Shield. In early July, we reported our GE refrigerator leaking from the filter cartridge, and soon after it stopped cooling below 56°. AHS dispatched Astro Appliance, whose technician claimed the filter head issue was due to “misuse/abuse/mistreatment.” Because of that one statement, AHS refused to cover the part and would not authorize the repair.
I repeatedly asked AHS for help—requesting a supervisor, asking for a second opinion, and trying to get clarity. Each time I was told “that’s what the tech reported” and there was nothing more they could do, unless we pay another service fee for a different co. to come out. So that means our regular monthly fee to AHS plus two. Meanwhile, weeks turned into over a month and a half without a working refrigerator for our family.
The same tech came back, replaced a motor, but the fridge still has not cooled below 50. AHS continued to point to Astro, Astro pointed back to AHS, and we were left stuck in the middle. In the end, we paid Astro $125 for a service call that resolved nothing, were denied coverage for a part that should not have been labeled as “misuse/abuse,” and ultimately had to buy a brand-new fridge out of pocket.
AHS failed to provide the support and service we pay for and offered no real solutions when their vendor mishandled the job. This experience has shown me that AHS does not stand behind its promises or customers. Bottom line: American Home Shield is quick to take your money, slow to provide real service, and even quicker to deny claims. Be warned before signing up.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for your experience, as we understand that your refrigerator is an essential appliance in your home.
We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you regarding your claim. Please feel free to email us directly at socialmedia@ahs.com for additional assistance.

American Home Shield assigned my work order to AirMax Heating and Cooling, and they were terrible because they never called me. I had to call them. The first time they called me, I had the home warranty company on the line, and they called AirMax and made them call me. I got my first appointment, and the kid came out and replaced something. He was awesome. He said the bearings were bad in the motor. He didn't like how it sounded, so he was going to replace the motor and put a new order in. When I talked to Trisha, a rep from AirMax, before the thing was ordered, she said, "I don't know the status. I'm not sure of the status." I said, "You don't have a part number you can check to see if it's in stock?" She said, "I don't know what to tell you. When we get the part, we'll call you." This was what she kept repeating over and over. She was not helping me at all.
That Tuesday, the kid had finished his work, but the notes haven't been keyed yet when I called about an update. Once they were keyed, I was told it was read incorrectly. AirMax Heating and Cooling closed my call and said everything was great. I called American Home Shield back, and they said to call and let them know if my issue isn't fixed by the 27th, where I wouldn't have to pay another $100 fee.
I called AirMax, left a voicemail, and got no response. They told American Home Shield they called me numerous times to try to schedule an appointment, and I told the AHS rep, Nicholas, "They are a liar. I got my call log right here. I have no missed calls, no voicemails, no nothing." AirMax finally called two days after American Home Shield followed up, and someone named Jenna said they tried to call me. She said, "Oh, I'm sorry. Somehow your number got transposed on the last couple of digits." Two weeks passed, no updates, then they tell me that. I said, "How did that happen when I was already in there in your database with a completed job?" Short story, they finally got me on the books, then a tech, William, came out last week, Thursday, and put the new motor in. The work order has been completed, but it took a month.
I love American Home Shield, but I wish they would broaden their contractor pool for options for customers. So, if I didn't like a person or had a bad experience with someone, I'd want another option, 'cause AirMax Heating and Cooling was not the only contractor I had problem with. I had a problem with my refrigerator with the A&E Factory/Sears repairmen that I will never ever want in my home again, but they were the only option for repair. That happened the same way with AirMax with the phone calls, not being able to call anyone and not getting any emails or any feedback.
American Home Shield's price is okay for the service, but when I started paying them 13 years ago, it was only $87, and now, it's $125. Inflation affects all kinds of things, so I'm not dissatisfied with the fee, but a nice, "Hey, your price is gonna go up $20" might be okay. If they do send them, clearly, I don't see them. Another thing is, when setting up a work order online, some of my problems are not on the list of options. They have an "other comments" section, but it doesn't allow a lot of characters to be typed in it. If, for example, my AC went out, and all the list has on there is "heat." Maybe an HVAC person would understand that's AC in the summer and heat in the winter. But for me, it's summertime, and my AC isn't working. My heater is a non-thing in my mind. I could explain it in the "other comments" box, but there isn't enough room for my explanation. Other than that, it's easy scheduling the appointments.
However, when closing a chapter and getting invoices or receipts, that has changed. I don't have any access to getting the work that was done to my home anymore. They used to email me things, but they don't do that anymore and I have to figure that out. I no longer have access to the portal for getting my receipts. Now, I have to call American Home Shield's helpline to see why I don't have the access to get my closed work order to put in my home improvements file that I keep for my home work. I don't have any records showing that anyone did any work on my home for my AC problem, and I don't like that. I need to try to fix that with the home warranty company.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience. I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with your AC repair due to the miscommunications and delays. I can understand how frustrating and inconvenient this must have been. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your persistence and American Home Shield's support in resolving the issue. Please let us know how we can be of assistance in the future.

That same contractor had to come out once before for our washing machine. Initially, someone else was supposed to come out, and that guy blew me off twice. He didn't show up. When I called American Home Shield, I said I wanted someone different, they sent Sanders. The tech was very professional, very understanding of the age of the appliances. The second time for the refrigerator, he was booked up, and I had to wait for a week until he made it out there. But he was upfront, and asked, "I can't get there until next Wednesday. Will that be okay?" I said that was fine because the fridge worked, and it was just the ice machine and water line that didn't. I was very happy with Sanders. We took a payout on the refrigerator. It was 17 years old, and the tech said we had to replace the whole door.

Having AHS gives me peace of mind. But what I don't like is that I gotta pay once they come out also. Not only am I paying 100 a month, but then they charge a fee when they come out, which is really ridiculous. At the end of the day, I'm not really making out with this. We pay a lot of money for this. But I’m satisfied with AHS.

American Home Shield sent out US Comfort here and they fixed my air conditioner. It had stopped cooling and wasn't running correctly. I put this claim online and their response time was good. It turned out that something had leaked and once they repaired everything, I haven't had any issues. I first got the warranty when I purchased my home and I was required through escrow to get a one-year warranty on the home. Then, I've been harassed a little bit by some of their employees lately trying to get me to renew my coverage.

My contract is up in June and I will not be renewing my contract with American Home Shield. I had my refrigerator broken and the ice maker will never work. American Home Shield approved the people to come out six times, and it took almost a year. I live in Mandeville, Louisiana and they have people who work here, but the company they were sending out is based out of Florida. Every time one of their people would come, it would be a different person, so they also have to get up to speed on the findings. Each time they leave, something else is wrong. I personally think they broke something each time they came out. On the seventh time, the company said, "It needs to be replaced." I did not understand that each time they came out was reducing what my replacement amount would be.
American Home Shield does false advertising. They explained their policy, which is each time a person comes out, it deducts from what the warranty is. To American Home Shield, they did nothing wrong, but to me, I was penalized because they allowed the same company to come out six times. I did a Better Business Bureau complaint with them. I have a top of the line refrigerator freezer and all I got was $1,094. I accepted that amount because something is better than nothing, but I couldn't even buy a regular refrigerator for that amount these days. We got a new refrigerator that was on sale and ended up paying $2,600. I also disagree with American Home Shield closing the case because I was very dissatisfied. I asked them, "Why would you keep approving them to come out when obviously they could not fix it?"
We understand your concerns regarding future repairs and the limitations of the contract. I’d be happy to speak with you further to address any questions or issues you may have.

My AC wasn't cooling the house. I was running at 85 degrees Fahrenheit and the first company American Home Shield assigned to me was horrible. The guy didn't show up or even answer any questions. I had to call him multiple times and nothing was happening, so I had to cancel the service and get a new one. It took me a week to figure things out and every single time I called, everybody acted like dumbass. They didn't know what they were doing. When I kept asking the reps to give me to somebody, they said, "No. We couldn't do it." I was on the phone for hours and hours for five days to get somebody to come fix the unit.
The next company American Home Shield assigned, DenPro HVAC System, was good. They were able to do the service. They looked at my AC unit and they couldn't fix it, so they had to replace the whole thing. On the other hand, Home Shield was not so good and I'd tell people not to sign up 'cause I still had to pay over $3,000 even with the warranty.

The original problem was a blocked pipe and the contractor, High Priority Plumbing, came out and fixed that. But after the plumbing work, I couldn’t use my washing machine. It said the water wasn’t on, even though my clothes were wet and the rest of the water in the house was working. I called to find out if there was something specific they could do. I thought I would have to pay another fee, and I was dreading that, so I didn’t go back to American Home Shield about it. I’ve also been in and out of town for the past three weeks, so I didn’t have time to deal with it. I was taken aback that only part of the repair was covered. I had to pay a lot out of pocket for the complete repair because the insurance only pays so much. The techs said one part wouldn’t be covered and would be a separate issue. I could have used that money for something else.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm glad to hear that the technicians assigned were polite and knowledgeable in fixing your blocked pipe. However, I'm sorry to learn about the issues you experienced with your washing machine afterward and the surprising coverage limitations you encountered.

I had a capacitor issue and the contractor took care of it quickly. American Home Shield has been handling the claims good. Many years ago, it was rough, but I stuck with them. They couldn't get the right service people out and we had some issues with service. They were recommending one thing, and AHS was not willing to move forward. But I have not had any problems with them, and they have done very well on both of my houses. I like the convenience of being able to call and place a service call, plus the response back is quick. AHS has great value and it saved me money in the long run. If people have a house, it is worth the money that they put into it.

I'm not totally thrilled but happy with American Home Shield. I renewed for the next year. I just need to read my fine print a bit better. I almost didn't renew. But I asked for a bit more of a discount. AHS's rep gave it to me, so I went ahead and renewed it. We had a garage door issue last year when we first got AHS. I didn't know they work on a garage door, so we paid somebody to come out. That was my fault. When I started reading the things that they do, it could have saved me money had I known they would’ve worked on my garage door. I figured it would come in handy next year. It's a good deal for the price.
The air conditioner wasn't cooling and I went online and paid the $125 for Advanced Air and Heating to come out, which surprisingly happened on the same day, unlike a previous experience when it took a few days. The communication with Advanced Air was smooth and they even notified me via text when the technician would arrive. When we called AHS a few months ago to have the AC worked on, it would be a couple days before the contractor could get there. We ended up fixing it ourselves. It was just a backed up line. My husband got into it and did it.
The tech gave me a couple of options to fix the issue. He said he could do nothing. It had frozen over that night. I had to let the coils thaw. He said everything looked good, but he didn't know what the problem was. He said there might be a leak. He would spray some stuff in it to possibly fix the leak if there was a leak. He didn't know. But he said if he did that, it would be an extra 150. I went ahead and did it. I was under the impression that American Home Shield took care of repairs. I thought we paid the 125 for the visit and they took care of stuff. When I questioned, the tech didn't know what to tell me. He said it was just what they charge. I'm fine with it. He was very nice. He said whatever he will do may not fix it.

The Beaufort Bath tech acted like there was nothing wrong with what I requested. But my drain was backing up and my dishwasher smelled horrible. He stuck his hand into the drain disposal, cut it, and then was bleeding all over my kitchen. I offered him a towel to stop the bleeding because it was pretty bad and he said, “No. I'm okay.” So I didn't push it. But it was gross. It was all over my kitchen countertops and then my sink and on my floor. He told me, “There is a piece of glass in there. Who broke a glass?” I said, “I don't know. I just bought the place. And what does it matter who broke a glass? It's a freaking kitchen. People break glasses in the kitchen.” He said he dislodged it.
I told him that it's been slow since we bought the house and the smell under the kitchen cabinet and into the dishwasher was concerning. He said, “No. I think it was just the glass.” I asked him, “Well, is there something else you can do? Can you just clean it out, make sure that nothing is clogged? That's why I had you come.” But he said it was running fine now, and then he left. It's fine now, but it still smells at times under my kitchen cabinet. I don't know if it's the garbage disposal, which I don't even use often. So, it's weird. It's better, but I put some vinegar in my dishwasher and let it sit and down my drains and bake, which was what he did. He googled what to do and I told him, “I already know that. I can do that.”
After that, I went to get my HVAC unit serviced for regular maintenance, and I was trying to have a conversation on chat, asking a question to the American Home Shield people. They were really rude and wouldn't answer my question and then just left the chat and kept telling me to do a service call. All I wanted to know was could I choose who I want to put the air in, but American Home Shield wouldn't answer me. They just said to put a service call in, and I said, “But I don't need a service call. There's nothing wrong. I just had it maintenanced because I'm trying to take care of it. So, you don't cover maintenance. So, why would I put a service call in when I just paid $190 to get it maintenanced?” I just wanted a simple answer to my question. So, it was a little frustrating. I don't have anything wrong with my air conditioning right now, but it's getting older.
When the gentleman came out, he said, “You may need it replaced soon.” He checked on my air to make sure everything was up and he cleaned it like he was supposed to do. Then he tried to say that American Home Shield was really bad, and that they're gonna send somebody out like you sent out to do my drain plumbing issue, and that they're not gonna pay for the whole thing to be fixed, and they're gonna have some shoddy company do it. It's misleading. I was frustrated because what if it's a large amount of money and what if something happens between now and May? People should be cautious with American Home Shield. They don't always send the best people.
Sincerely,
Marc

On my last encounter with American Home Shield, they did a good job. I did the claim online and it went well. They wanted to deny it at first, but then I told them they'd already been out to work on it before. They said, “Okay. We'll send the same guy to come out and work on it.” He came out and fixed it. However, I had an issue with American Home Shield as far as I've got some unit heaters in my garage that hang from the ceiling. When I originally went with Home Shield, I asked them if everything was covered. They said, “Absolutely. Everything in your garage. Everything is covered.” When the unit heater died, they said that because it wasn't hanging on the wall, they wouldn't touch it.
I called and talked to their sales people again, and I talked to four different sales people. I specifically asked them if that would be covered, and all four of them told me it is absolutely covered. I called Home Shield back and said, “I called your sales people. I asked them specifically about it, and they said it was covered,” and they came back and said, “No, it's not covered.” They refused to work on something that their sales people claim was covered. They lied to me. I was very unhappy about that, and I ended up paying for it out-of-pocket myself.

The experience I've had with American Home Shield has been okay. Every year I have an event that pays my monthly and I usually break even with them. The best part of their business is their online service. It's usually not the people they send out that I have a problem with. It’s actually American Home Shield. I have a built-in ice maker at my bar. It's not in our freezer. It's just a stand-alone ice maker under the cabinet. It broke a few years ago. American Home Shield sent out a company and they fixed it. But about two years went by, it broke again. I called them and they said, “We don't work on this.” But I said, “Well, you do ‘cause you already have.” Then they told me it was not covered under my policy. But it was covered before. So I went through this whole thing with them and ended up I had to fix it on my own. That was very frustrating for me.
My Thermador dishwasher went out and American Home Shield tried to give me $600 for it. It's a $2,000 dishwasher. I told them, “Guys, it's not even close to the replacement.” I argued with them and I finally only got $1,100. But I was out of pocket for that one as well because their replacement value that they gave wasn't even close. They were trying to sell me a cheap Maytag instead of the higher end that I had. So that was frustrating. When the door latch on my Thermador microwave broke, American Home Shield couldn't find the part, so they tried to give me another microwave. But again, not Thermador. They were trying to give me a cheap microwave built-in, but all of my appliances are Thermador.

The first gentleman diagnosed the microwave and said the magnetron was bad. He ordered the part and left. A couple of days later, another gentleman came back and put it in, but it still didn't working properly. He said it needed an electrician because it wasn't getting power to it, so he ordered the electrician. As the electrician got there, I realized it was a GCFI. That was what ran the unit. I didn't realize that I pushed the GCFI switch in the other room, but there was a GCFI switch on the counter that needed to be pushed. So, I turned the GCFI on and it had power to it, but it did not run properly. He left.
I'm waiting on a unit to be changed out but I haven't heard anything from American Home Shield. They will send Sears out of North Georgia. AHS had a microwave that they said was similar. I looked it up. I said, "That's a Whirlpool." I looked at it at Lowe's and saw it's alike, but the price was different. The unit was on sale. But to replace it and have someone come out and do it was $38 more expensive. I went back to AHS and told them that I'm good with getting it taken care of by Lowe's. But I requested an additional $38 on the money they will give me. The young lady said, "That unit is now back in stock. I'll set it up for you and they'll come out." I've been waiting ever since. It's almost 10 days.
American Home Shield has done a good job for me. It's an expensive service, but it's worth it especially if you get into a house that has utilities that you're not sure of the history. You get what you pay for. I've had them for eight years that they have gotten better with their customer service. They use groups around the world, but they've all been adequate. After my conversation with them, they go through the process of what transpired and repeat it. I have confidence in them. They have been doing a good job.

I've been telling others for years to get American Home Shield. It's good and it works. Contractors show up right away when you make an appointment. They fix it right away or order the parts, and within a few days, it's done. It's very good peace of mind having AHS because we don't have to worry about anything. If something broke, we just call and that's it. We have already been fixed on the refrigerator, washer, water heater, and twice on dryer. It's amazing. We even got a plumbing coverage for our house. It's well worth it. However, I don't know why American Shield doesn't have coverage for televisions and other items besides appliances. My big screen TV broke and it's not covered. Big screen tvs are expensive but fixable. AHS can send techs to fix them and I don't have to dismount mine, throw it to the trash, and get a new one.
Recently, the dryer wasn't coming on. We would press the start button, but it didn't do anything. We had a contractor dispatched through AHS. The appointment was for 9 o'clock. We were already at home early in the morning. The tech showed up at 8:30, and by 9 o'clock, he was out of the house. He told me that the dryer vent was broken. He gave it to me. It was all messed up. He also told me the pulley was worn out and that is probably what caused the vent to break, besides the years. He replaced the pulley and vent. He was out of it in no time.

The whole claim of American Home Shield is that if they can't fix it, they will replace it. But then I had to pay for it. I already pay $70 a month, and then I pay $125 for any work order visit. So, that's consistent. But they're hiding under these modifications and sections, like, "Oh, that's a modification. Freon is a modification," even though you have to get a new unit because it couldn't be fixed, it needed to be replaced. Freon is a modification, even though the machines don't come with Freon. So, how is that fixing and replacing for me?

My dryer and the refrigerator ice maker and lights weren't working. I first submitted the claim online but then I had to call because I wanted to add the refrigerator on too so they could look at both of them at the same time. The tech who came was very knowledgeable and nice. I loved him.
He replaced the fuse in my dryer and cleaned it. He thought it got too hot and flipped the fuse. And then the refrigerator, it was broken. He looked at it and the wires that go from the refrigerator to the door were broken and he couldn't replace them. He recommended to either replace the door because the wires were too short or get a new refrigerator. AHS replaced our refrigerator. It was wonderful. Now we have an ice maker.
I'm glad we have AHS. In the past, our washing machine broke, and it couldn't be repaired and we got a new washing machine. We told our in-laws that they should get one, because they had to replace their refrigerator. The only thing is, every year, the payment goes up by $5. We started out at $75 a month and we're up to $107 a month now. But we live rural, so having AHS is still a really good deal for us.

American Home Shield is a good insurance company. They provide good services and their website is easy to access. They constantly offer deals like, "Hey, you want to install this or do you want your pipes cleaned that are connected to your laundry equipment?" I don't necessarily take them up on those deals, but I like that they're proactive in helping homeowners with the maintenance of their home. When our heating system died out during the summer, they jumped on it. They said, "We'll get you this contractor right away." I don't have beef with the insurance company, but I have beef with the contractor company.
The contractor came out and said, "We just need to order this part," but it took them a week to get it. We said, "Can you give us updates? What's going on?" There was lack of communication or sympathy from the business to the customer. They did not acknowledge that we were suffering in the heat. There was nothing like that to assuage our problems and there were no updates like, "We've ordered the parts. We can see that it's in transit." The communication side was really frustrating.
Once the contractor brought whatever part it was, I asked him to show me the box and he wouldn't let me see it at all. I wanted to do my own investigation to figure out why it would take so long to get this simple part. I was curious. Was it a unique part or was it an expensive one? He would not share the box with me, and I found that odd. Other than that, the installer himself was a nice guy and I don't have issues with him. I just have beef with the company overall in the handling of this thing, where it took a week and there were updates or any acknowledgement of what we were going through.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with AHS. We're delighted to hear that you received excellent service and that the necessary repairs were completed promptly. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and helps us continue to deliver high-quality service.

LA Contractors was supposed to assess my AC, but they didn't work on it. They are awful and dishonest, and they are the reason that I am still in this process with American Home Shield. They lied about my property being a commercial property so that my claim would be denied through the home warranty company. They said that I did not actually live at the property and that it was not my primary residence. I have been arguing with American Home Shield about the property being my primary residence and being a residential property, not a commercial property, ever since. Also, the AC has not been repaired as a result of that.
I've been with American Home Shield for two years and this is the first time that they've worked on this AC. I've had other claims for other things and it is very clear that American Home Shield, in my perspective, trains or coaches their contractors to utilize specific types of language or make certain types of claims in their assessments so that the claims are denied or so that the customers have to pay out of pocket for items that should have been covered or may or may not even need to be repaired.
The contractors lie about what needs to be repaired, about doing assessments and about modifications. They know how to utilize specific language to try to get claims denied. This is not LA Contractors. This is American Home Shield. I am getting ready to file a complaint against American Home Shield and several of their contractors related to my AC with the Better Business Bureau and with the Ohio State Attorney General.

My air conditioner would not turn on. It would not function. I submitted two claims with AHS. The first one was in June. I went through the system and paid the $100 online. Majestic came out and diagnosed the problem. And then I worked with them to complete that claim. They left and things were fine. But after almost a month, my air conditioning didn't turn on.
I called AHS back. They said they’ll send somebody right out to look at it today and that was perfect. I had already spent two months of the summer without AC. The guy who came charged me $100. So, I paid the 170 to him. I never went through the system. So, it was basically a second claim because he ended up replacing the thermostat. Everything is working fine since he came back and fixed the thermostat.
On my first claim, I was waiting for my air conditioning unit to be replaced. There was some confusion that caused a delay. But partly, that was on me, too. It was a couple of weeks in the middle of the hottest part of the summer. In my warranty system, it didn't show me that I had a payment due. I was using the website to check on my claim. It was telling me I was good to go and that looked like at some point, there was gonna be a payment link in there.
I kept refreshing it every couple of days to see when I was gonna be needing to pay for the product. Then, I called Majestic and they told me it's a third-party site I have to pay on. So, that was a big delay, which was a bit frustrating. It ended up taking two full months to get the air conditioning installed from when I submitted the first claim.
Overall, I like AHS. I don't really know a lot about what needs to get done in my home and I'm a newer homeowner. I'm the only person in charge. It's nice to have a place where I can go and, at least, get a referral for some of the stuff I need, because there are a lot of greasy sales people and stuff like that.
I'm a big proponent of insurance and I would tell anybody to have it. It's hard to understand the benefit of it if you're not in the industry, if you're just a standard citizen. But I'm willing to acknowledge that I don't understand what I don't understand, so I need to use AHS. I would recommend them to a friend or a sibling.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're happy to hear that overall, you're pleased with how your issue was resolved. We're particularly excited to know Majestic Custom Heating and Air Conditioning provided prompt service and a creative solution in replacing the thermostat. Your valuable feedback about payment processing difficulties helps us make our service easier and more seamless. We're delighted that you’re confident using our system as a new homeowner and encourage you to reach out if any further questions arise. Enjoy the peace of mind your home warranty brings!

I had trouble with my air conditioning unit. I called American Home Shield on a Monday and submitted a claim. I told them that my air was out. I didn't have any air and it was almost 100 degrees. However, I didn't get anybody out till Wednesday and I had a problem with that. The contractor told me a gap between 8:00 and 12:00, so I had to pay somebody to come sit here 'cause I told them I had to work that day. I was only off Monday and Tuesday. The contractor didn't come till after 1:30 and whatever it was they fixed, they didn't even wait to see if the unit cooled off, for which it didn't cool off till late at night.
I'm disappointed with American Home Shield. It was easy to file a claim, but when I called and asked them if they had anyone else since the contractor wouldn't be available till Wednesday, they told me no. I didn't have any AC and knowing how hot it was, they should have accommodated me and gotten somebody else to come out within 24 hours. I would tell people to try to find somebody cheaper or somebody that can service them better. My rate went up $10 more than what it was and that's another problem I have with American Home Shield. I wasn't notified about that.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We understand your concerns regarding the delay in servicing your AC unit and the increase in your warranty plan. The price adjustment is driven by several factors, including new product features, rising incidence rates, and increased costs for parts.
Please know that we remain committed to delivering the best value while ensuring reliable service. A service specialist will follow up with you to discuss your concerns in more detail.

American Home Shield will never be someone that I would take my business to. I'm frustrated over the entire experience. I'm their customer. If they will send someone out, I trust and believe that they send someone out who is honest will not try to bully me. That is not what that company did. The contractor was one of my main reasons why I got rid of AHS.
My air conditioner went out. First, they couldn't come out until four days. That's how they did me both times. It was 94 degrees. No company had ever insisted that I give them money or that they would leave. He told me there was a leak in my line, which all my coolant was gone. I still don't believe that. He stated it would be $1,400. He showed me some paperwork as if AHS had submitted it and said all they would be pay was $10 off because they didn't cover the coolant. I told him I don't have $1,400 to give him asked if they could just fix the line or whatever AHS covered. He said no. He couldn't do anything without doing everything, which is fine and well. He told me, "Call us back when you got the 1,400."
When I called AHS, the rep said, "You were not supposed to take any extra services because we haven't got the paperwork." I raised my voice with her and she changed her tone. I said, "You sent these crooks to my house. No one has required that I give them money on the spot. I've never went through this. But they showed me paperwork and said this is coming from American Home Shield. So how dare you talk to me in this manner and say something about me being wrong?" I don't know anything about this company. I've never used this company. I didn't call them.
As he was wrapping up, I took my credit card out and I let him do it because I couldn't live in that. I feel like I was strong-armed. He said, "Not by me." I said, "If it's not by you, who is it? You are the one who sat here and told me that if I didn't give you $1,400, a 94-degree house with a sickly child, you were not gonna do anything and I can call you back. So what do you call it?" He said, "What do you think? We're gonna work for free?" "You're not working for free, sir. You're coming out from a company that I pay every month. You are contracted with them. You are not contracted with me. So where is the free money? Because my deductible and everything has been paid. Not one time have they ever had an issue with my payment."
I did not respect the way he talked. He said, "I don't know about all that. You'll have to take it up with the company." AHS did call me and the rep apologized and said, "He didn't use 10 pounds. He shouldn't have charged you for it. He only should have charged you for what he did." They refunded me the additional. It was 420. It was right short of $1,000 that they charged me and that was it. They gave me that back because of what I went through.
I had to call AHS right back out. I told the lady that day that my air conditioning is still not working. Maybe the Freon had to work. But the house was getting hot again. The contractor came back out and the guy said, "Your line was severely stopped up." I cleared it all out. It is cooling now. My whole thing is you take $1,400 from me and you didn't even check the system to see what the issue was.
I have Red Cap and I'm a member. They come out twice a year and service the units to make sure everything is up to date. They had told me that my Freon was fine and it was perfect. Every time, I've never had anyone come out to tell me that I had issues with my Freon. They had just come out a month before. Between then and now, I was supposed to believe that something went so wrong that all the Freon leaked out. I know things can happen, but I didn't believe it. They only thing they told me was a capacitor went out. But I I got insurance. I'm not gonna pay Red Cap all this money. They always tell you that it's the capacitor.
Thank you for being a valued member and for bringing your concerns to our attention. We understand how important your AC system is to your comfort at home, and we sincerely apologize for the delay and the inconvenience you've experienced during the repair process. One company came out for the water heater and it was a gentleman who came up. He said there was nothing wrong with the water heater. So, I said, "Excuse me? This water usually comes out boiling. Over the last few weeks, it's been steadily becoming less hot." He went back up and checked them again. He said they're old and it can happen with old units, and left. He said, "You might have to find out if they're gonna replace one or both of the old units, because they're in line." They're in line, so they worked in tandem. AHS might only pay for one of them.
They went back, and they changed it to a surge, which the tech never mentioned. He said they were only because they're old but suddenly he came back and said something different. I called and told American Home Shield. The guy was lying. It had nothing to do with that and he knew it. He first didn't know there was anything wrong with them. Then he decided they were just old units and they're starting to fail. He was very clear on that. He called his boss, and I spoke to him over the speakerphone too. We talked about it on the way down to his truck. AHS will send over a new company to come out to look at them.

We put in a claim for our refrigerator and had Aurora Appliance come out multiple times, each time thinking they fixed it. Sometimes it would work for a day and then it would break again. It was just a back and forth for two months till finally American Home Shield said that they would replace it. But they offered a replacement appliance that wouldn't have fit quite in our space. So we took the Lowe's gift card and applied it towards a new refrigerator.
I initially set up the claim online and I did it a couple of times. American Home Shield would promise that the technician would contact me within 24 hours, but they didn't. So I'd have to call, and the calls never got anywhere. They just said, "You'll have to wait." Once the replacement was done, it was good. The technician was good. But American Home Shield would take forever to get back with us. They could never schedule anything very quickly. The whole process was a disaster. I don't think we'll be working with American Home Shield much longer.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your refrigerator repair and replacement process. We understand how essential this appliance is to your home, and we apologize that the delays and communication issues caused such frustration.

The contractor said my motor is insured, and the spring is not covered, which is fine. But the motor got broken and they said it's because of the wheels. So, it is not covered. I clearly told them it's not about the wheels. It's because the motor's spring sprocket was broken. All I have to do is pay the deductible for the motor problem. But they said it was not due to the spring sprocket, and I had to pay more money. I can do it by calling any handyman, and they could fix that motor, which is what I exactly I did, because they said they are going to charge me $1,900 to fix the wheels. They said there is no problem with the wheels. They just sprayed some kind of grease near the wheels. And the problem was with the motor so they changed it. I need to have that American Home Shield then? They do the same thing for everything.
I had a problem with my dishwasher. The service technician came in. First time, he changed the motherboard. The same problem happened. Next time, he fixed the panel. The same thing happened. Third time, he fixed the motherboard. The same issue happened. They do the the same thing again and again. I had that problem since November but it is still not fixed.

We had a problem with the refrigerator. American Home Shield sent a technician out and he replaced some relays. I got easy communication with him because it just happened that I speak Russian and he is Russian-speaking, so I didn't have any problem with him. He was very professional and knowledgeable. It was surprising because I know nothing and I still know more than most of the technicians that they sent here. This was surprising to me that they really sent someone who came fast and finished the job. He was very efficient. Now the refrigerator is working just the way it is designed to work.
We had a case when we had to wait for 4.5 months for American Home Shield to send someone finally to fix the water in the kitchen. We had to carry water from the bathroom to the kitchen. I'm 80 years old, disabled man with a bad heart, and my wife is older than me. She also has bad heart. I had to every day carry water from the bathroom to the kitchen so we can wash the dishes and things like this for four times a day. When somebody came, it took him about 15 minutes to replace the bath faucet and install a new one, and yet the technicians that American Home Shield sent before that were jokesters. They were absolutely ridiculous. We had one that made an appointment with us seven times and canceled seven times.
We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. Where we used to live in Oregon, in both of our homes that we lived in, we had that because we were real estate brokers for a living that we used to own a real estate company, so we used to sell American Home Shield to our clients. At that time, American Home Shield was absolutely different. Now they got their people answering the phone from overseas. They would say, “I'm going to try to make things better,” but they're much worse for the last few years, but we're still sticking with them because I'm not used to make changes. I would never recommend to American Home Shield. We're still with them, but we are not happy with the service.

The Air Max guy who came was very, very nice. He was very kind and prompt. He said the unit needed maintenance, and they'd have to come back with a three-story ladder. That was the last I heard of them. I sat here with my mother who's 93 in two weeks of very, very hot weather without air. They never called. I called three times and still couldn't get anything figured out.
I call American Home Shield every so often and they said, “Yeah, we're trying to connect with Air Max.” So I called Air Max an dthey said, “Yeah, we have to connect with American Home Shield.” This went on and on. In the meantime, my 92-year-old mother was sitting in this hot condo on the third floor. That's not healthy. After the hot spell we had, I finally called Air Max and said, “When are you guys coming? We can't even sleep at night. My mother's old. If she ends up in the hospital, I'm gonna talk to a lawyer.” But the Air Max lady said, “Are you threatening me?” I did not threaten her.
When the weather broke, American Home Shield told me that I was not covered for maintenance. But they still took $125 for all that and they're not gonna give me my money back. I had no clue I was not covered for maintenance. I thought I had insurance and it covered everything. It was a pretty bad experience. My son-in-law came up, squirted it with a power hose, and it started working fine.

I had an issue with my dishwasher and when American Home Shield sent out a technician from True Appliance. He was a bit condescending and spoke to me in a way that was off-putting. But outside of that, he did an okay job. It was just a buildup of soap in the dishwasher that caused it to go into safe mode and not drain. But he checked one of the drains that sits above the sink and noticed that there were soap suds there, so he vacuumed that to get any remnants and ran a cycle. Things seemed to be okay, but the dishwasher did it again on the very next cycle that we did. So, I had to run it through a whole bunch of rinse cycles and it seemed to work okay. I'm still not quite sure that anything's ever been fixed. We've now run four cycles since this has happened and it seems to have worked okay without any issue. So, we'll just hope for the best.

So I called American Home Shield on a weekend and they assigned A-1 to come out. I called A-1 on Monday and they said they couldn't do it on Monday. American Home Shield sent Aqua-Brite but they did nothing. The tech walked off my driveway and came back to my driveway. He was on the side of my house for 60 seconds and he said he would get the part ordered. He didn't say anything else. When I saw what he sent to American Home Shield, it that the filter was clogged and that there was a blockage in the system, which was an inaccurate statement. I tried texting with the guy and asking him what happened. He said he took my filter apart, and it was really clogged. I told him I just serviced my filter less than 60 days prior. The fins in it are new. Everything in there is good to go. I also told him there's no pressure and no blockage in my system.
He still said he took it apart. However, I told him he didn't. He was there for 60 seconds. I have a DE filter that needs to be decompressed. It takes like 10 minutes to decompress it. And then you got to take it apart. It's a 30-minute process to do that. I told him he couldn't have done that in 60 seconds because it's physically impossible. He then said, “Clearly, you want a second opinion. Oh, well, I can still do it for you for $650.” It was a horrible experience.
I reached back out to American Home Shield and I told them about what happened. I even researched the company, and the guy's got a 1.5-star rating. All customers of American Home Shield are saying the guy doesn't do what he says he does. There were lots of complaints. So, I told AHS I don't know why they're using this guy. Clearly, all he's getting is a service fee call from American Home Shield. He doesn't care about actually diagnosing the issues.
As far as my claim, it took me four different phone calls to get it escalated and over a week to get someone else to come back out there. They wanted me to pay for the second opinion. I told them I wouldn't because they sent out a Service Pro that wasn't a pro and didn't do the job. So, I wasn't gonna pay that someone else come out to do the same thing. Ultimately, it did get resolved, but it took me making four different phone calls and asking for it to be escalated and having to wait a day or two for a return phone call. If this was a key component of my home that needed immediate attention, it would have been a very bad experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with our service and the difficulties encountered during the repair process. It’s concerning if the technician did not resolve the issue accurately and that you had to exert significant effort to have it properly addressed.

My home is 10 years old and I wanted to protect it from unexpected expenses, so I bought American Home Shield policy. I bought it in first week of June then my AC went down in the end of July. So, with a lot of hope, I reached out to American Home Shield. The contractor came and found what was wrong with the AC. American Home Shield decided to go with second contractor and the second contractor came. They submitted the same report as the first contractor. But American Home Shield decided that my situation was preexisting, and they denied my claim. So, I did not really get anything out of it.
The first week of August was terrible across the state and I spent two weeks without AC because American Home Shield was evaluating my claim. But at the end, the claim was denied. I ended up fixing it on my own by calling the contractor and they did the job in less than two hours. Also, everyone that I spoke to was really rude and not really willing to understand the problem, but more willing to convey that it was their final decision. Then, the price is extremely expensive compared to Choice Home Warranty. So, I'm extremely disappointed with American Home Shield.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've faced with our service. Dealing with the summer heat without functional AC is undoubtedly distressing. It's disappointing to hear about the delays and your dissatisfaction with the claim process. Thank you for kindly sharing your experience with us.
Sincerely,
Kim

I like that American Home Shield saves me a lot of money when a major appliance goes out and it's always a quick response. The total of five times I've used them in my two homes, I've got a callback within that day and somebody was coming out within the next day. If you don't have any supplemental insurance for your home, you need to get AHS. Recently, I called somebody out for the air conditioner. The tech came out and had it assessed within 20 minutes, and he was done with the repair in about 35 minutes. He replaced my capacitors.

I like how easy it is to file claims with American Home Shield. I also like that they're pretty quick. I just wish they'd be more proactive instead of reactive. Recently, my pump wasn’t working. The guy who came to replace the capacitor was good. He told me that they wouldn't replace the pump until the pump itself died. We know that this pump is gonna die. Why not just take care of it this time? It sounds bad. It's blowing capacitors. So, in the meantime, I keep having to buy capacitors. Every six to eight weeks, I keep spending $100 to get the pool fixed
I appreciate you sharing your feedback with us regarding your pool pump. It’s encouraging to know that the claim process with Breakthrough Pools was straightforward, and it's great to hear about the positive service from the contractors. I understand your concern about the ongoing issues with the pump and the inconvenience of having to frequently replace caps. Your suggestion regarding a more proactive approach is noted, as preventive measures can often save a lot of trouble down the line. Again, thank you for your comments, and please let us know if there’s any other way we can assist you.

This company is a complete disappointment. They refused to repair my AC, claiming it was a “pre-existing problem,” which is absolutely untrue. Their strategy seems to be avoiding coverage for any major or costly repairs, while still collecting your monthly premiums and charging a $125 service fee every time a technician comes out. Don’t be misled into thinking they will cover big-ticket items like AC systems—the very reason most of us purchase a home warranty in the first place. They are quick to take your money but will look for any excuse not to pay when you really need them. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

American Home Shield is nothing but a scam. I filed a service request for a leaking dishwasher with a terrible stench. The contractor never even came to inspect it—He just submitted a “diagnosis” to replace the gasket. I rejected that nonsense and asked for another check, but AHS refused. They kept my $100 service fee and forced me to buy a brand-new dishwasher out of pocket. To make it worse, they then refused to warranty my new dishwasher and insulted me with a measly $16.70 refund for the cost of a gasket. I decided to cancel my plan, and that was another nightmare. I had to talk to four different reps, repeat myself over and over, sit through aggressive sales pitches I didn’t want, and spend more than 2 hours on the phone before they finally agreed.
Then came the refund games. I paid $835 for the plan. According to their letter, they deducted $121.11 (pro-rated) and $50 (admin), which should leave me with $663.89. Instead, they claim my refund is only $567.64—meaning $92.25 is completely unaccounted for. To make matters worse, their cancellation letter was dated August 4, and it’s now September 1. I still have not received my refund. This company cheats customers, denies valid claims, and drags its feet when refunding money. Do NOT waste your time or money with American Home Shield.
Thank you for bringing your most recent AHS experience to our attention. I would be glad to speak with you to assist with a revolution.
Thank you,

Recently, I had one of American Home Shield’s providers come out to my home and the contractor did not do anything. It took them over two weeks to call back for a second appointment to actually fix something. The contractors never sent their information to American Home Shield. When I called American Home Shield to follow up, all they kept telling me to do was to wait. They don’t have good problem-solving skills when the problem is very obvious. Since it was something I really needed to get fixed with my sewer system, I went back into the portal requesting a new service to bypass waiting for the provider who never responded. I got my repair done that way within three days. It was a very bad experience. I had to pay service fees twice.
American Home Shield will make you wait. If something is not working multiple times, they keep trying to put a band-aid over it instead of replacing it. They don’t read the notes. If it’s the second time you said you had a problem, they’ll still avoid replacing it. They’ll say, “Oh, well, you only said you have an issue with the top oven. But if it’s a two-oven attachment, we won’t pay for the bottom ones.” But they come in twos.
They have some good providers, but I don’t know how they vet their providers. When the dishwasher wasn’t working properly the person that came out told me not to use the dishwasher tablets to clean it, but to use baking soda, instead. That doesn't make any sense. Baking soda is a really good cleaner. But it won't do the job. So essentially, he never fixed my dishwasher and I paid him $100.
American Home Shield will then take the side of the vendor. If the contractor diagnosed a problem, he said that he fixed it and then he got paid, then American Home Shield takes the side of the vendor. So you have to just do a waiting game. For some stuff, you just deal with it. For example, with our dishwasher, maybe I'm rinsing off my dishes more or maybe I'm doing a little bit extra. But something like an oven or a sewer pump where I can't do anything about it, because I'm not a plumber, then I have to double pay until I get a better service. Recently, I literally paid double to get a provider out. He fixed it that day and he cleaned up.
American Home Shield will definitely make sure that you pay your bill on time. I’m paying my monthly bill and I have to pay a $100 service fee when they come out. It seems like I’m paying the provider and they’re just paying for the parts. My advice, if your house is new, you may be able to get away with not getting home warranty insurance. Just use the warranty for your appliances. But if your house is old or getting old, then look up for some other home warranties. You can use American Home Shield as your final resource if you can't find another one.

At the last minute of schedule day, I got a message saying the technician has a unforeseen circumstances and won't be able to make the appointment. It has to be pushed back until Monday, which is another two days later. I ended up calling the service company and AHS, staying on the phone either with voice message or useless representatives and even with the expedition team. Nothing can be done except waiting on Monday. The reported plumbing leaking issue stays without resolution.
The dispatched company is Aladdin's Plumbing in California. I've had the difficulties with it before. They have never improved. The fact is if I've had called a local plumber, I'd have got much quicker response. I am wondering what I am getting by paying AHS? This is the last thing I'd do with AHS!

I would give zero stars if available. THE WORST COMPANY. They take your money, make you jump through 567 hoops, and you get nothing but a headache (and an empty wallet). I called in a septic service request. 3 weeks and 12+ phone calls later, I had to get the work done on my own, out of pocket. Their lack of response, knowledge and legwork almost caused me more damage (which is why I just took care of it on my own). The request from 2 months ago still sits open and unresolved.
What if this had been a furnace breakdown in the winter?! I tried to cancel coverage via online chat, and after requesting the cancellation more than 4 times in that chat... still not canceled. Told that I have to call in to cancel. Now I sit on hold "for 15-20 minutes as all reps are busy" and so I write this review. I know that once I do get to speak with someone, I will be given the "rest assured" language they love to use. And maybe in 45 minutes...maybe, I just might be free of this awful company. Seriously! What company just takes your money and does nothing in return?!

Save yourself the money and hassle from ever signing a contract with AHS. You will regret it. Our first service request was for a broken pipe. They proceeded to send somebody out, who looked at the problem. A couple days later they claimed it wasn't covered because the pipe broke due to foundation shift. We followed up with our foundation professional who stated there is no way the foundation is what caused the pipe to break.
Problem #2 was a leak in our kitchen ceiling. Took 5 days for a person to come out. By then the water had caused irreparable damage to our oven. They eventually paid for leak and ceiling damage, but we were stuck paying to replace the oven. Shot number three, our washing machine stops working. They send out a 1.3 star yelp review company. A week later they order parts, two weeks later they attempt to repair washer to no avail. Now they're assigning a new appliance tech person. This after saying the 1.3 star yelp company was the most highly reviewed in their portfolio. That should tell you a lot about the people they work with. They're qualified and experienced at nothing besides finding something in contract clause so they can deny claim, even if they have to completely make something up like a foundation shift.
A month later and they want to essentially start over with washing machine repair. If we didn't have a warranty we would have replaced washer within a couple days, but now we're stuck another month going to laundromat. Finally canceled and not sure I'll even bother dealing with letting them try to complete the service. Take my losses and just buy one to be done with it. Run away from them, don't walk.

I signed up with their service this year as well and paid about $700 for the annual contract. My garage door opener broke, and they sent a repairman over. The flat fee service charge was $100 which is ok. The repair man needed to replace two items and American home shield denied them both. in the end I ended up with paying $330 to the garage repair company as well and ended up with $430 from the pocket. American home shield is not here for an honest business. They will find any kind of loophole to make sure they pay little or nothing from their side and shift all the expense to the customers. The contractor’s visit was good. P.G. was on time and professional. I gave them a review right away. But American Home Shield took a long time to get the paperwork from P.G., which delayed replacing my oven.
I wasn’t happy with that part of the process. The warranty told me I’d hear back within 24 to 48 hours, but I ended up waiting a full week. When I called in, they said they still didn’t have the paperwork. That meant American Home Shield had to wait a few more days to get it, which delayed my replacement.
I also asked American Home Shield today how they came up with the price for my oven. None of the major stores, like Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Best Buy, sell an oven for $1,639. There isn’t any oven microwave combination at those stores for that price.
The warranty gave me multiple choices, but for anything comparable to what I had, I would’ve had to pay more. Their prices were so overpriced that I decided not to go that route. Some of the options also would’ve required modifications on my end, which would have cost even more. In the end, I chose the cash in lieu option.
I just got the replacement today. It’s in the back of my truck right now. But I was without an oven for a long time, so I was a little disappointed with that part. However, it’s not enough to make me want to cancel their service.
I’m also not happy with the Allstate Protection part of this and would like to cancel it. When we talk about the total price, I’m also paying for that Allstate protection plan. I bought Allstate through American Home Shield when they offered that package two years ago.
I don’t even want it. Allstate is separate from American Home Shield’s service. It was an added service they offered to cover other things in the home, and that was a horrible experience.

I strongly advise against doing business with this company. They misled me about pricing and failed to honor their verbal agreement. I called to ask about the cost of a service call under my existing plan. They quoted me a price, and I agreed to proceed with the claim. However, they later changed the price, citing state sales tax—despite not mentioning this during the initial quote.
I told them I expected to pay the original price, as that was the amount verbally agreed upon. Since then, I’ve repeatedly requested a callback from a manager, but I keep getting routed to the same department with no authority to resolve the issue. Each time, I’m told a manager will call me the next day, but that never happens. Due to the lack of transparency, poor customer service, and broken trust, I’ve filed a formal complaint with the BBB and am currently waiting for a response. If you value honesty and reliability, I suggest looking elsewhere.

I was with American Home Shield for nearly 9 years. They responded fairly with repair issues. However, the longer that I was with them there were fewer and fewer service techs within an hour of my home meaning that wait times for service increased considerably. Also, when I started with them the annual fee was $740 per year with a $75 service fee per occurrence. My renewal was about to be $2,423 per year with a $125 service fee. I cancelled. Cancellation has been a NIGHTMARE.
I first called to cancel in July and was talked into keeping my contract one more month because they would cover the monthly cost. When I called on August 24 to cancel I was told that I would need to call back because another rep was handling my account. This actually violated my contract which clearly states that I can call and cancel at any time. I received a call back the following morning in which after 20 minutes of trying to talk me into keeping my plan, the rep cancelled my plan. He said that I would receive an email in about 5 minutes confirming everything. This email contained a pdf showing an outstanding balance of $137.01. This was not correct. It took another 4 phone calls speaking with 7 different individuals. This process wasted another 2 hours of my time to get everything fixed. 3 years ago I would have recommended them and did on many occasions. I will never recommend them again.

After 5 years of paying thousands of dollars for their so‑called membership, I’ve learned the hard way that their “repair or replace” promise is nothing more than flashy marketing spin. Refrigerator stops dispensing water/ice? They did nothing. Microwave fails? Ignored again. And the final straw: in the middle of August, my AC starts leaking, forcing me to shut it down during triple‑digit heat. Their response? Denied the claim over a minor code technicality that wasn’t even required when the unit was installed. In short, you pay faithfully, they collect happily, and when something major actually goes wrong, they hide behind fine print and excuses. This isn’t a protection plan – it’s a very expensive illusion of one. Save your money, your time, and your sanity.

AHS has gone down the tubes. They have denied my claims at least 3 of the last 4 times I have used them. All over a technicality. My blower motor on my Furnace was not working properly, it caused the airflow into my house to be very weak. I put in a claim, paid the $100 service fee. The technician who came out said everything is working fine, but recommended the blower motor be replaced because it was vibrating and rattling. But because he didn’t put due to normal wear and tear, they refused to cover it.
Now I’m sitting at home out $100, and an AC that is not fixed. I reached out and demanded I talk to a supervisor, they gave me the run around and told me report said everything was working. Well, when your house only cools down 1 degree in a 12-hour period of being on, I don’t think it is running good. This has happened multiple times. Then each time I talked to somebody different, they say something different. As if I’m being lied to. They are a scam artist company who will just take your money and pick and choose what they want to pay for. Half of them don’t even speak English very well so it’s difficult to understand. Avoid at all costs, unless you wanna be out $1,000 a year for no result when needed. Awful company.

However they weren't quick enough because the company and I had to call them to get them to push something through, and AHS was dragging their feet. So, the company was really good. They stood with me.
We got AHS on the phone and told them to get their act together. And they claimed that there's something that the company sent to them to get back here, but they never saw it. The company had justified, had the reference number and everything, and they wouldn't move with it. AHS just took their time. We were asking for a supervisor. They were not proactive, but I would take Certified Electrical Technologies any time and not go through American Home Shield. I would call the company myself directly. They did their part and everything they were supposed to do.
AHS’ information is not very up-to-date, and they're losing customers. And if they couldn't get their act together, somebody's going to pull them and then they're going to be sitting there looking silly.
On my other account, AHS had a company come out that was very rude, very nasty, came in with the wrong attitude, gave them false information, told them they ordered a part. We never saw the part. Refrigerator's on the blink and can't do anything, and they didn't care. And I can't deal with that. I would not recommend them to anybody. And they requested us to give them a good rating because they did the job but they were very nasty about it.
AHS needs to vet their vendors. They're not vetting them because even right before we had the electrical, we had another call for a washing machine, and nobody ever came or called us. I had to call and tell them to cancel.

This company is terrible! Do your homework before you get blindsided with poor service. In our case, we had poor customer service through ** “script readers,” that don’t care to listen to anything outside their scripts, nor do they take the time to listen to their customers and adjudicate issues. We recently had our water heater go bad. We called in and they had a plumber come out to check the system. The plumbers submitted for a replacement water heater and annotated “modifications & Labor (bundled) in the estimate for AHS.
AHS was passing on the $1K modifications/Labor fees onto us because of the word “modification.” In our case, it was to cut three copper pipes on top of the system and reconnect the pipes to the new system. In addition, they were unscrewing three screws for the standard electric cord and re-screwing the cord onto the new tank.
When we called for a supervisor to discuss our frustration, we were routed into the void-loop where nobody wanted to listen or follow-up with the complaint. AHS was content with taking our service payments all this time and thought it was best to pay $650 for a new water heater and charging all associated labor ($1,000) to us. Nothing was rerouted, added, or different other than a downgraded water heater from 66 gallons to a 50-gallon that they claimed was “efficient.” What company thinks that’s good business???
I recommend doing your homework… do not go off their website ratings. Call to see if you get professional representatives on the line when you call for support. I also strongly recommend reading your contract because there are gaps - what is written as “covered or not covered” is genetically written and AHS will pass those costs to you.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

American Home Shield has bad communication. Any time that a ticket was in, I had to be the one to come digging for answers to move processes forward. I'm under the assumption that their contractors from AirMax Heating & Cooling stole from me, and I don’t have positive things to say about them. They came out and did one service, but the appliance was still broken after they left. Then they said another repair was needed. I questioned why they didn’t say from the beginning that two things needed to be done, because I would not have paid for the first repair. I would have chosen to replace the whole system instead of paying for two separate repairs.
American Home Shield is not worth the money nor the headache. They don’t have good local support from vendors that they can just call and schedule on their own. They take shortcuts so that they don't have to pay the appropriate amount of money to have things fixed. But, when it was time for them to pay their portion, they did that. They were easy to get a hold of, but they were never proactive. I always had to go get them.

A technician from A & S Plumbing sent by American Home Shield did a great job. I like working with that technician. He's got a very nice personality, and as a picky person, if I say he's nice, he's really nice. I have had outstanding experience with American Home Shield. I got permission to go out of the network to have a water heater replaced. They told me that when it was finished, which has been quite a while, I should make a copy and send it to them. I would need a name and address where I should send the bill so it can be reimbursed.
As far as American Home Shield goes, I was a little disappointed with the job done by Air Solutions. These technicians know what's covered and what's not covered. I do property management and know how these guys work. They don’t get paid enough, so they sometimes claim something that’s not covered has to be done. I didn’t have time to verify if they were truthful.
So they said a piping in one of my properties had to be connected and quoted $600 to $650, which I felt was ridiculous. I called others I’ve worked with to compare prices. We argued back and forth. I said I would call for a second opinion. So he checked with his boss and reduced it to $300. I paid it because I had no choice, but I feel that the whole thing should have been covered. My tenant was without air conditioning in really hot weather, so I didn’t want to cash out and get somebody last minute.
I’ve been lucky because I have been with American Home Shield for many years and have contacts in higher positions, like the West Coast supervisor and the East Coast supervisor. When I have a problem that I can’t resolve, I have a number that I can call. I am happy with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield has been quite good and reliable. The only time I ever had any problem at all is sometimes, when you first call, you get a recording but the recording isn’t what you need. But eventually, if you ask for a representative, you can get one.
Recently, a contractor came out and saw right away what the problem was with our toilet. He had to wait for the part and when he came back, he put it in in about 10 minutes. It has worked very fine since then.

We had our AC and furnace replaced by American Home Shield. They first tried to diagnose the failure and rooted it to a component where fixing it wouldn’t guarantee that everything else would work properly or that it wouldn’t create long-term issues with the other components later on. So, we opted to take the credit for what would have been the repair and then apply that towards the purchase and installation of a new AC and furnace.
Our experience with AHS was pretty seamless. The only complaint I have is that I didn’t have much of an option of picking a company or going with my own and then getting reimbursed from a claim, kind of like you do with cars.
Thank you for sharing your experience with both Majestic and American Home Shield. We understand there were challenges along the way, and we appreciate those insights as they help us continue improving our service.
We're glad to hear that, despite the initial hiccups, the new equipment installation went smoothly and that Majestic's service helped rebuild your confidence. Buyer BEWARE! I have had AHS for close to 2 years now. Never had I used them until recently. My 13 year old Samsung washer started making noise and smelling of burnt rubber. I contacted AHS and they sent out a local appliance repair company. The technician assessed the issue and told me that it was a broken bearing (broken component) that was causing the inner drum to hit the outer drum and cause the imbalance.
According to the AHS contract they are supposed to cover broken parts. AHS twisted this saying that it was a bent inner drum from abuse and misuse that caused the inner drum to hit the outer drum. They did this to avoid covering the cost to either repair or replace the machine. My machine was neither abused or misused. DO NOT waste your time or money with this company! In talking with one of my work colleagues a very similar situation happened to him as well. What a shame and a scam. Find another warranty company to cover you if you feel like you need one.

I have two properties with American Home Shield, and this refrigerator was my first claim at this property. My electrical panel breaker tripped. And when Right Refrigeration came out, all the guy did was plug the refrigerator up, and then left, and said it’s an electrical issue. But the refrigerator continued the trip. So, I just reached out to Whirlpool because that’s the refrigerator I have. And I just paid a tech from Whirlpool to come out and diagnose the refrigerator, and then let me know what the issue was.
So, when I found out what the issue was, I reached back out to American Home Shield, and I told them what the issue was. And for two weeks, they kept on saying that I gotta call Right Refrigeration to get them to close out the ticket or to try to get them to come back out and redo what they needed to do, but they never answered the phone. So, I had to wait a while after that. And when they finally responded, American Home Shield sent a different company to come out and take a look at the refrigerator.
The first time the second company came out, they did the same thing. They just plugged it up and said it was an electrical issue. So, when they came today, I was actually there, and I just watched them do a diagnostic of the refrigerator. So, this time, because the homeowner was there, they actually did what they needed to do. But when AHS sent the second company out, I did not have to pay another service fee.
So, American Home Shield needs to get better certified companies to do the jobs, because the back and forth would just delay the process. I put in the request July 18th. Today is August 25th. And now, everything just got resolved. So, all I wanted was a guy to really diagnose it so I could know what the issue was because it caused me to come out of pocket, spending all this money on food and things that I can’t get reimbursed for because I don’t have a refrigerator.

The contractor was perfectly fine, but it was American Home Shield that gave me problems. It took eight weeks before I got service on my air conditioner. I called six times and kept getting these people from another country until I finally threatened to cancel my policy. I wasn't paying $95 a month for service that I wasn't getting for two months. I have a husband with a heart condition, and he cannot be without air conditioning, and I had to go out and buy a window type air conditioner until we could get our system up and running. When the people came, I had no problem with them.
We've had this service for 10 years, and in the past, the service was quick, sufficient, and I had no issues. They've replaced a refrigerator at a compatible price, and that was fine. They've replaced the washing machine. I don't know if they've switched over their customer service lines overseas, and I don't mind that as long as I still get service. But I want to speak to Americans. We are an American household, and I want to speak to someone that can actually reach out to me and I can understand, and I don't feel as though they're going around the globe to get me a service call.
A year ago, I was getting service from someone around here, and the service people that were gonna come out called me the next day, made the appointment, and I had no problem. And that was with the same issue that I had with the condenser, and he came out right away. For the most recent service, they said he hasn't sent in his liability insurance, so they couldn’t use him anymore. That was a shame because he was very efficient, was in and out in half an hour, and I liked him.

The rep came out and looked at my dryer and microwave. From what I understand, the microwave is not covered because it’s not mounted into the wall. The rep told me he would have to order it through American Home Shield, and that took almost a month. I had to keep calling them. For the dryer, they did fix it. It’s an old dryer with no handle. I have to stick a knife in the hole where the handle used to be. The guy who came out told me he can order a handle for it. When he came to fix it, I looked for the handle part, but he didn’t have it. I’m still opening it with a knife.
The customer service on the contractor’s side was very unprofessional. Nobody answered the phone the first time I called. The second time, I left a voicemail. When they called me back, I found out they didn’t check their voicemail. After a period of time waiting, I called from my cell. They didn’t answer. I called from my work phone, and they didn’t answer either. Finally, somebody called me back on my work number. It was the same scenario. I don't want to use them again.
I let American Home Shield know about my experience, and their customer service kept it professional through my frustrations. But it’s not worth paying the price for it, just with the inconvenience of waiting.

I went to Costco for it. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield, though. It’s not been good. The price I pay is not bad but the service is rough. That's why my brother said we need to go somewhere else. Plumbing had to be done and they sent somebody out here. They looked at my plumbing but did nothing. They went on the side, and said we need to tear it down to get to my plumbing. Then they called me and told me it would cost me $600 out of pocket. I knew I didn't have to because they came out before and unstopped it with a snake.
This is not the first time. I have another property and it was the same thing. We have to tear it down and go in the back, but it'll cost me money. I said, "Let me have the same company I had come over my mama's house.” I had to argue for a whole hour. The next thing you know, they came out there with the snake and unstopped it again, but then my stuff is still stopped up. A plumbing place is supposed to have the equipment to do all this, but they didn't. I know they got paid for them to come out, though.

He tried calling my phone and I tried calling him back, but it went straight to voicemail.
The second time he came, he was here for five minutes and basically told us it was the brain of the washing machine, and more than likely, we would be getting a new one. He said it would be up to American Home Shield, but he was guessing. He also told us we would probably get a new one rather than it being fixed, because the part would cost more. It was hot in the house. The website is very easy to navigate for submitting claims online. The contractor who came out was great. He was knowledgeable, pleasant, and patient. He fixed what he thought was the problem, and it worked temporarily, but two days later it went out again.
I had another claim with my stove. I didn’t realize the coverage was only 30 days. Whatever was fixed by the technician went out again on the 35th day. I haven’t filed another claim yet, because if I have the technician come back again, I would have to pay another $100. I won’t do it, so I just opted to use half of the stove right now.
Despite that, the service has always been good. The technicians were all professionals. It is also easy for them to send someone out and stay on schedule. I just hope that the response time could be improved when a repaired item goes out again. There weren't any emergency visits, so we had to stay without air conditioning for five days. It would be good to have emergency slots for follow-up visits.

American Home Shield uses this practice as to not have a set term to replace HVAC units. They transfer you to different countries and none of the departments can help you, they refuse to escalate the problem and continue to give you the run around until you give up. Have carried AHS home warranty plans for a number of years. You would think I would have learned my lesson by now in dealing with a company like this. Had a hot water leak earlier this year. Took a week to come out and fix and coverage was denied. AHS called it a "modification". Same type of hot water heater, nothing modified. Had an AC problem. Diagnosed to a leaking coil. AHS once again called it a "modification" and denied it. Now I have a water leak occurring at my property under the covered plan. Called on 7/11/25 (It is now 8/2625 by the way and still not resolved). Company took a week to send someone out. 1st plumber determined there was a leak and referred back to AHS since they could not find the source, but plumber said get a "second opinion". AHS never called me back, tracked them down and had them send out another plumber.
Took another week for that plumber to come out. Kept the water off entire time. 2nd plumber arrived, said they needed to do an "Air Test" to find the leak. AHS said not covered, although policy covers leak detection to locate repair. Escalated with AHS and was told it is in fact covered and the plumber will be dispatched. Plumber scheduled and waited at home for them to arrive. No show. Called plumber and they said AHS once again denied coverage. I escalated with AHS again. Told it was covered and expect the plumber to reach out and reschedule. Got an email on 8/7/25 saying not covered because this is "Normal Wear and Tear" and a new line needs to be ran which is a "modification". Problem is they denied coverage without even finding the source of the leak.
My plan covers plumbing, covers wear and tear, and covers under Section 5 (a) Leaks or breakages of water, gas, drains, waste or plumbing waste vent lines and pipes that occur within the Covered Home; and (b) All parts and components. A new plumber was contractor by AHS. Has come out and did a round of leak detection. Scheduled to come out today another week later to do "isolation testing". AHS once again denying coverage, this time calling it an "Act of God".
My complaint is they are using a tactic (AHS) by denying my claim by citing terms like "normal wear and tear", "Modifications", and "Acts of God" as an exclusion, even when the damage is from everyday use. While AHS plans generally cover breakdowns due to normal wear and tear, they are stating that the specific damage falls outside this definition, leaving me with uncovered repair costs. The other issue is the plumber still hasn't come out to do the "Isolation Test" to pinpoint where the leak is and if there is a need for the new line, yet I am getting a quoted cost and not even sure yet if this is the amount need. This has been the worst experience. I am done with this company. Not from this latest issue, but all of the denied claims.

American Home Shield people are very professional. They used to hire good people. Then it just started going downhill. The contractors who came for my dryer before did a wonderful job. Then, another guy came for the heating system. He said that it was broken. To me it didn’t sound right, so we got a second opinion. It ended up being something simple. He was just trying to charge American Home Shield. In another instance, a plumber came to fix the heat for the air conditioning. It was one of the two. He said that we needed a specific part. He left and never came back. We ended up calling American Home Shield again, and they tried to charge us again.
Recently, D&J Appliances came out, damaged the drum of the washing machine, and accused us of putting heavy stuff on top of the washing machine. How heavy can clothes be? Dry clothes on top of the laundry wouldn’t bend that. The washing machine is a piece of steel, a metal on top and then it’s a piece of metal separating the top from the drum. In order for us to bend the top of the washing machine, we would have to put a dent in the top of the dryer and then to the drum. None of that happened. They weren’t able to fix it. My wife reached out to American Home Shield and they said they were going to send somebody else out. I told them to send somebody else because the last ones were so unprofessional. The new contractor hasn’t come yet.

I'm not really pleased with American Home Shield because basically, they didn't try very hard to fix the problem, as far as I can tell. And I went back and forth with them for a while. Every time I have called them, I have to sit and wait on the phone for 30 to 45 minutes before they get somebody to talk to, and their website is not terrible but not really wonderful either. So, I made a request online. World Class Air came out. The project that we were concerned with was getting some ductwork rationalized up above the ceiling and then getting some insulation into place because the insulation above the ceiling was rather thin. This is an old house, and it has several sections to the crawlspace above the ceiling. Their people came out and told us that they couldn't get to the back section of this thing because there was a rather narrow opening they had to get through in order to get there. The only answer was for us to get a contractor who could cut a new hole in the ceiling in another place so that they wouldn't have to go through this narrow passageway. Well, that did not strike me as being a good answer because I had been up there, I understand. I'm 82, and I have been up there in the past, but it's been quite some time. But I did remember that I was able to get through it all right. And some other contractors we've had in here have been able to get through it. We did reach back out to American Home Shield to let them know that World Class Air had not been able to do what we wanted them to do. We didn't get much help from them. So, we went out and hired another air conditioning contractor who came in and did the work. And just yesterday, the insulation contractor came out and got heavier insulation up there including that space. They worked on that yesterday afternoon and the job is essentially done. But I did not have the feeling that we were getting much help from American Home Shield. I wasn't at all comfortable that their recommendation for somebody to do the work was the best. At least in this case, the contractor they recommended really wasn't able to do the work. And so, we ended up going out and getting it done ourselves. They really did not give us any help. If American Home Shield had been doing it properly, they would have paid for part of it. But we just ended up paying it out of pocket. We’ve been with them for three years. And they’re saying that they couldn't cover the ductwork and shortage of insulation because it was a longstanding problem and not something that had just developed. Well, we paid them to be the insurance company that would come back and help us pay for work to be done. But they didn't. So, we ended up spending more money. And from my point of view, it was a significant amount of money.

American Home Shield helped in a pinch and saved us from having to drop a lot of money on big expenses. The initial problem that we had was short cycling on our system. It was the first thing that happened. It was causing the house to get pretty warm, and the AC wasn't working.
It was not ES that came out initially, but a different company, Oasis. They switched out the thermostat, but it was still having issues getting the house to the proper temperature. We called them back. So, they came back out, and checked things.
He said everything was fine and we could call them whenever it heated up again. Because sometimes it would work, and then other times the temperature would get up to like 87 in the house. And it was super hot.
We tried getting him back, and he kept telling us that everything was fine. And then he just stopped responding to my phone calls. The issues with them were less than ideal. So, we just submitted a second claim. And that was when ES Heat & Air came up.
They came out and immediately said that it was the compressor. It was old, and not good. And they switched it out. We haven't had issues with our AC since then.
I submitted the claim through the app, and the online website for both of them. The communication was great. He was a good guy, friendly, and got down to business. I'd probably just say the fact that there's something wrong with heating and air.
AC and those types of things are usually really expensive. So, it is nice knowing that I'm not gonna have to get quoted $1,000 for a whole new unit. And usually they'll come out and just fix the problems, without having to pull out of my pocket any more than what was needed to fix.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of your AHS warranty and the service it provides. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’re here to support you whenever you need assistance.
Thank you,

We're pleased with American Home Shield. I came home one night, and the dishwasher had unloaded its soapy water in the kitchen. It took a while before we had an available tech, about five or seven days. Once he came out, he ran a couple of tests.
And for whatever reason, it wasn't doing what it had done that night. Obviously, you're thinking that this is gonna have to be repaired at best or replaced at worst. But he did a nice job. He told us what he was gonna do, and how he was gonna do it. And when it was all said and done, he said sorry, he can't do it.
And I said we don't necessarily need to see that much water on our floor again. Well, a lot of my appliances have to be bordering. I moved in here in November of 2005, and I've lived in this house for 20 years. It was a brand-new house, just built.
I'm still using the same washer and dryer that we bought when we moved in here. Now, let's see, TVs are different. And I replaced the microwave in the first three to four year, which hasn't been replaced since. We did get a gas range here a couple of years ago, a new stove, and a refrigerator that’s probably about five, six years ago.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the benefits of your AHS warranty and the service it provides for your appliances.
Thank you,

I’ve been with AHS since I got my first condo in California in 2003. I like that I could get someone to come out most of the time when I call. The only concern I had was when my washing machine went out years ago. I have been paying through my insurance for many years but they hardly gave me any money for this issue.
I’ve also had an air conditioner issue recently. The techs came, only to find out that I paid for somebody to tell me my vents weren’t open. But they took care of everything. They marked my unit outside so I know which one ‘cause there’s about eight out there.
Overall, AHS provides good quality service and they take care of you within a short period of time. You don’t have to wait weeks. Most of the people that come out to service are professional and they do a good job. I’ve had some bad experience where techs would say they know what they are doing but they really don’t. That’s why I wanted to go through American Home Shield because they can back up their service.
We are delighted to hear about your positive experiences with American Home Shield, especially the professionalism and excellent service of our technicians. Because that was so unsatisfactory, I had indicated that I will not be supporting the business and that I needed them to send someone else. American Home Shield sent out technicians from All Tech Air Conditioning LLC when I submitted my claim. They came out to check the initial issue and said the compressor needed to be changed and that they had to submit a report to AHS for approval. The report was supposed to be sent within 24 to 48 hours, but it took almost 10 days.
During that time, I called both sides many times. I spoke with two team managers at AHS, but they said they could not make a decision whether to reimburse me or tell the contractor to go ahead and do it until they received the report. They called and emailed All Tech twice, and All Tech never responded to send them the report on time. I also called All Tech five or six times and spoke with several people. They told me they would mark it urgent, but I don’t think they did. Once they finally sent the report to AHS, it took about three weeks to get the new compressor. During that time, it was so hot in Oklahoma—almost in the triple digits. I have kids in the house, and the house was burning from the heat.
I have been a customer of American Home Shield since 2001, and until this particular case, I hadn’t had any problems with them. In this case, I was dissatisfied because it felt like there was a disconnect with both AHS and the contractor. AHS recommended All Tech, but when I asked them, “What about if he didn't send the report? What am I going to do? What kind of solution do you have?”. I was told their hands were tied and that there was no supervisor available to talk to, and I was left waiting for All Tech to send the report. I was hoping AHS would step in and find a solution and solve the problem faster than that.
The people who answered the phone were nice, but in a problem like this, I would like to see American Home Shield have someone who can make a decision, who I can talk to, and who I can rely on to solve my problem and understand what I am under. I could not find anybody to do that.

My air conditioner stopped working, and I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield. The technician who came out explained the problem, gave me both a temporary and a permanent solution, and got it running temporarily. The service itself was fine. However, I am very dissatisfied with AHS. I have been with them for 12 years, and this will be my last year. As much money as I pay each month, the amount they paid out when I chose to go with my own contractor to get my service fixed was not even a fraction of the cost to replace the system.
Also, trying to reach someone is frustrating because I end up speaking to someone in the Philippines, and I don’t always understand what they’re saying, and we have to go back and forth. I also don’t like that it takes up to 48 hours for a contractor to call me back. Overall, the process is just long and frustrating, and it’s better to just pay a reputable contractor to come out and get things fixed the way you need them fixed.

I’ve had American Home Shield for 20 years since I first bought my house. I had really good experiences that I used to refer them when I worked as a Realtor. My washer or dryer broke, and that was a successful outing. When my air conditioner went out, American Home Shield helped to replace what needed to be replaced. I submitted a claim online with a garage door opener that wouldn’t go up and down. I got a text within two minutes that they're sending somebody, and those people came out that day. Because I had such good success with them in the past, I decided to get another policy. I’ve had this policy now for two or three years.
I had a gentleman come out who didn’t do anything for my dishwasher. I was very, very unhappy with him. He just opened my dishwasher and told me it shouldn’t have soap because it can’t recycle. He told me what to do to run the dishwasher. After I ran it 10 times, it wasn’t doing any better. I googled how to take out the suds, and I managed to do that. There are no more suds, but it still doesn’t go. I called and called to get someone out again, but I didn’t get anyone. I just gave up and put in another claim. Somebody did come who was very nice, looked at it, and determined that it wasn’t cycling because there was a problem with the pump. He went to order a part for the pump, but I haven’t heard back from them if they received it.
I had a little bit of difficulty figuring out how to contact customer service. It was not very obvious on the website. I ended up calling the chat line. The guy I chatted with was very nice and put me in touch with customer service. The customer service guy tried calling the company, and he said they don't even answer the phone and there’s no voicemail. He then switched me to another company.
I don’t really have any complaints with the American Home Shield directly. Their policy is reasonable. They're very responsive and helpful, except for that one company. American Home Shield should take them off their list because it was not a good experience.

But the service was lacking because they weren't responsive. A lot of times, I would have to call them to find out the status of the parts, and they told me they were still waiting for the parts. It took five days for them to come back out. But usually, they work fast and get the job done.

I’m not getting a good deal out of this. Since July 28th, we haven’t gotten anything. No one’s calling me. TCA HVAC came out, but they couldn’t do it. Then we got another technician from that place, and they couldn’t do it either. Our AC needs Freon, but it doesn’t take Freon, so you have to get a whole new unit. American Home Shield just keeps putting us off and sending different people.
We’ve been calling, and they know that nothing’s been done. They don’t follow through, and you have to fight to get what you need. I’ve been with American Home Shield for about 30 years, but it seems to be going downhill. Sometimes we can’t understand the people who call us back. They’re foreigners, and sometimes you have to have them repeat what they say. I was getting ready to cancel them.

American Home Shield changed their application. I ordered accidentally to the wrong address, so I was charged $100. The mobile app doesn’t work. During the confirmation, you guys don’t have even the address where it will be sent. The problem is more American Home Shield.
I have a freezer issue. Because it was completely frozen, in order to pull it out to inspect the freezer, it broke. They said it’s my fault it’s broken, so they would not cover. They told me it will cost $350 to replace the container, when online, the same container on Amazon costs $69. I had the same issue five years ago and you guys replaced 100%. I was super happy. But right now, I have to spend my money and buy the part and drive there to install it instead of an appliance company. I’ve been a client for many years. Right now, I don’t see any point to have it. I’m very upset that their application doesn’t work.

I strongly caution anyone considering American Home Shield (AHS). I filed a claim for a broken garage door spring. My contract clearly states that torsion springs are covered. AHS’s own vendor quoted the cost of one spring at $300, yet AHS only offered me $125 as a cash-in-lieu payment. That doesn’t even cover the cost of the covered part, and I already paid their $125 service fee just for someone to come look at it.
To make matters worse, every garage door professional I spoke with — including AHS’s own vendor — said both springs must be replaced together for safety. AHS refused, leaving me to either pay hundreds more out-of-pocket through their vendor or hire someone locally. I ended up paying $395 total with a local company for both springs and adjustments, which was actually cheaper than AHS’s vendor would have charged for only one spring.
I appealed multiple times, escalated to supervisors, and even submitted a formal appeal in writing. Each time, AHS refused to honor the contract. I’ve now filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for failure to honor their warranty. This experience has been extremely frustrating and feels like a bad faith attempt to avoid paying for covered repairs. Homeowners should be aware that AHS may not honor the clear language in their contracts, leaving you to pay out-of-pocket for repairs you thought were covered.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I was with AHS for five years. The warranty seemed to help cut down on my overall costs when my A/C went out but more recently, they did NOT cover $1,500 in "upgrade" fees their contractor said I had to have to bring my water heater up to code. Getting other quotes for the heater, I found it would only cost $700-$1,300 to pay someone else in total. I also couldn't get another $1,500 covered for a fridge and range I had to replace myself. Trying to cancel was a hassle too as the representative wouldn't stop trying to "compensate" me to try to stay on, even after I told him there was no way they were going to compensate me for the $3,000 I was out. I won't ever use them again.

The first time the technician came out was diagnostic in nature. My AC wasn’t working. It was determined it didn’t make sense to fix it, and American Home Shield was gonna pay for a replacement. The first technician was awesome. He tried like heck to get it working, and had no luck because of what the issue was. The next two that came out for the install, they were great. They did what they needed to. I was happy dealing with the guys from DenPro. No problems with dealing with those folks.
I don’t know whose end this falls on, if it's on American Home Shield or the supplier they deal with. Multiple contracts went back and forth for me to sign, one, they forgot something, one, they didn’t include something else. Then we updated it. There are two units, one that goes inside and one on the outside. They were gonna be shipped on Monday. We were gonna get them Wednesday. Thursday, DenPro called and said the parts that we wanted weren’t in stock. How was it four days after the day it shipped that they finally realized that? If it wasn’t in stock on Monday, why wasn’t that disclosed so they could figure something out?
The technician said he could get one in York, but we had to do a new contract because it was an upgrade, bigger tonnage, at the same price. That was another day or two over the weekend. It just seemed like everything that was supposed to happen didn’t happen. It was a 95-degree temperature; that was my only concern. If that communication would have been a little more open, freer, cleaner, it probably would have been easier to digest.

My hot water heater quit working, and I had water leaking on the floor. I did the request for service with American Home Shield, paid my fee, and the contractor came out. He replaced it with a brand-new hot water heater after getting it approved by American Home Shield. I liked the contractor. I thought he was very interactive and professional. The only negative would have been the timeframe of how long it took. It would have been nice if it had been a day or two instead of four days, but it is what it is.
I’ve actually referred two coworkers to AHS in the last three months. I had friends who kind of laughed at me and said that I shouldn't have American Home Shield. It’s not worth the money. But when they looked at the total install cost, they realized I had made a good decision. I feel that I got my money’s worth and didn’t overpay for the value provided. It actually probably kept me with American Home Shield. For every time you see that monthly charge come out and aren’t using it, when something finally does hit, it’s worth its weight in gold.

I had an experience a while ago with an electrician that tried to scam me. He disconnected the switch and said that my house has incorrect switches. My house was only three years old and I got it inspected, so I didn’t believe him. He said I had to pay $300 for a scaffolding, so I called American Home Shield to find out what’s going on. Apparently, the company called him. He got upset and yelled at me. He wanted me to buy a fan for $100, but the fan is covered in my plan according to the company. He insisted it’s not covered. It just sounded really shady to me.
I called the company and told them the guy’s trying to scam them and trying to scam me. I complained three or four times. I asked them to send me somebody else. They ended up giving me a rebate of the service, gave me whatever I had paid, and gave me a certain amount to do it on my own. They told me that the switch and fan was covered, just not the scaffolding.
I’m upset that American Home Shield sent three people out to my house prior and none of them covered the service that my house needed. I took time off each time they came out. But after everything, I still stayed with them. I’m happy with how they handled it. They took care of my situation right away after I complained to them. They asked me if I wanna take care of it myself, and I did.

My refrigerator was not cooling on top and not making ice, so I went through the American Home Shield app, submitted a request, and paid a $125 service fee. The app was pretty simple to deal with. The fun starts when you’re waiting for a company. You wait, call the company, and if you’re lucky, they’ll answer. In the situation with Sears, I had to download their app, and their system is almost all AI. Every time I try to speak to customer service, the system would hang up on me. They made appointments two or three times a week and cancel within minutes of the appointment or past the appointment time. If I call American Home Shield, they couldn’t get in touch with Sears either, so they try to email them.
My refrigerator broke on the 8th of May. Somebody came out and changed out an evaporator or the cooling thing on the bottom. It lasted about three to four weeks. We had a death in the family, so we had to leave and were gone for a few weeks. When we came back, all the food in our fridge had rotten. We called American Home Shield the Monday of July 4th and paid another $125 because it was past the 30 days. They reassigned Sears to come back out. Again, Sears made appointments, but did not show up. My wife and I were alternating days to take off for almost two weeks before they showed up.
I was so frustrated speaking with American Home Shield. It was someone in another country because I couldn’t understand what they’re saying. But one lady said that she’s sorry that I’m dealing with Sears because nothing positive comes from getting maintenance done from Sears. She said Sears uses a third party. I asked if they can’t do something about it, and they said that there’s a process in place.
By July 25th, Sears finally came and serviced it. He charged it. The guy said that if doesn’t work again, let American Home Shield know, and they’ll come back out. The very next day, it was not cooling again, so I called him back. He came in on a Saturday and was at my house for maybe five minutes, opened the fridge door and checked. He said the leak has to be inside the walls of the fridge and it’s no longer repairable. He’ll try to reschedule me, get back to me on Monday, and tell the company the fridge needs to be replaced. I received a text message that parts were ordered. All the appointments they scheduled were cancelled. Finally, they came out the weekend of the 25th or 27th of July. The guy said they can get it fixed with the parts and they should be available the next week. Nobody came. American Home Shield then sent out a different company, a guy that’s come to my house before. He’s a little old dude, but he looks high. He spent a lot of time on the phone talking with someone.
I was so stressed out with my experience with American Home Shield that I doubled up on my anxiety medicine. My wife developed an autoimmune disease because we have not been able to eat healthy since May when our fridge broke down. I had medication that I had to put in my neighbor’s fridge. My other friend let me borrow a small freezer. But we can’t cook because we can’t store anything. It’s been a complicated hot mess. I even wrote to their executive corporate team and got a call back from a lady who was demeaning.

City First Electric came and said I needed parts and three pounds of Freon at $170 a pound. I called Home Shield and told them what was going on and asked if I should pay him. The rep said to let City First Electric submit the report and they would take it from there. I told the technician that, and he walked away and closed the ticket without doing the job. He said that I refused to pay him and I wanted to deal with American Shield. He didn’t seem knowledgeable and just wanted to get paid and leave. So I asked to get another opinion. I paid somebody from my pocket $250 to tell me exactly what was going on. He said my compressor was burned, the whole thing was bad, and not only did we need to change the compressor, we needed to change the Freon.
I told American Home Shield this, but they were not going to take his opinion because he didn’t work for them. So they sent another person. The person said I needed to change the Freon and change the compressor and that this is what they were working on. I said I was covered for everything. He said I don’t have the platinum membership, so American Home Shield would only pay $10 to cover the Freon. I was in shock. I personally did not know there is Platinum and another type. I thought I was covered, including the Freon. Every time they come, whatever they do, I never pay anything.
I called American Shield and asked them to at least cover it this time and I would upgrade. I called to upgrade to the Platinum, and they said I can only do the upgrade after a year. They were not allowing me to upgrade Platinum until after one year because I have a claim open. If I had Platinum, I would not have to pay now. This is so frustrating. I paid 100 when they sent somebody out. He was not knowledgeable. He didn’t say anything about the compressor or changing the whole Freon. If I listened to him for three pounds, it would not work and my money would go to waste. I paid my guy 250 for his opinion, and I still have to pay 2,100 for Freon.
I’ve been with American Home Shield for eight years, and I have been happy with them. Then I fall into this trap with my air conditioner. They haven’t been helpful and they’re not listening. They don’t do that and can’t do that. Now there’s no communication. I pay $188 every month, and I still don’t have air conditioning for a month now. I was sweating after I showered. It was awful. It’s so hot outside. It is hell. I talked to escalation, and they said a supervisor would call me that day or the next day. That was three or four days ago, and I haven’t heard from them. I would be lying if I say I’m very happy. I am very frustrated.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

There was some rusty-looking stuff around the base of the toilet that should not have been there. The contractors sent out by American Home Shield were nice people. But, the issue was not fully resolved. The first contractor took the toilet off, replaced a small circular part, and left. There was no liquid or water at the time. Within a couple of days, I had to call someone back. When they returned, there was a small leak at the base of the toilet, and the toilet itself rocked.
The toilet still isn’t functioning properly because they need to replace the flange. American Home Shield doesn’t feel they need to cover it, so it is costing me $525 to fix a problem caused by the first people they sent. I don’t think I should have to pay $525 to correct a problem their people caused. The plumber was supposed to come today after he got off from work at 5:00 PM, but the company said he would come between 2:00 and 6:00 PM. I am terribly dissatisfied with this particular situation because I am paying $525 for something I didn’t do, and the first person they sent did not do an adequate job. The second person has already come out once and now has to come again to fix it.
Several years ago we had a plumbing company sent by American Home Shield. The people and the job they did were horrible. American Home Shield should send me somebody that is trustworthy that will do the job and will not be a threat to me, my house, or my disabled daughter. They should also have people answering the phone and ensure those are able to speak English. You shouldn’t have to fight to just understand somebody who supposedly speaks your language. I don’t care where people are from, but I do care about communication.

We had a leak in the roof. I put in a work order request through the online portal, and American Home Shield connected me with a company. They came and assessed what was wrong. They completed the bulk of the work. There was one item that they weren’t able to complete, which was part of the package, which was the removal of a satellite dish that was causing one of the leaks. And they came back, I’d say, within five days, and finished that last part of the job.
From the pictures that were sent of the work completed and the explanation of what was wrong, I have confidence that the fix will work. But until we have that kind of next big rainstorm, once we have that, I’ll be going into the attic and looking at the places I took pictures and video of previously and looking for those same leaks to see if indeed everything is fixed. But the workmanship looks good, I just need to test it out.
We’ve been protected with American Home Shield since we purchased our property, for about eight years, but haven’t had to use it too frequently. AG Appliance Repair was bad. They're unprofessional. They had no idea what they were doing. First, they diagnosed it and they ordered the part. The second time they went there, they said they ordered the wrong part. The third time, they said it was missing a component. Now, American Home Shield is not covering it. How is it possible that, at the beginning, there was no missing component, now suddenly something is missing? American Home Shield didn’t do anything about that either.

The wiring would not work, so he had to take out the whole light fixture and put a different kind but nothing fancy. With this issue, I was very unhappy with the customer service folks that I talked to on the phone. I called them to see if I could get this issue taken care of. They told me that if the fixture wasn’t working, that I could get it fixed. The first electricians who came out were pissed because they know it won’t be covered. There was another light that needed replaced, and they didn’t want to do that. I ended up having another electrician come out and paid $300 out of pocket because American Home Shield wouldn’t cover it.
It's been hit-and-miss with their coverage. I was told I had the top of the line, and then I found out that if there are wiring for lights that don’t work, they won’t cover it. We called American Home Shield because the dryer was making a loud noise. They made an appointment for a Thursday and gave us a really wide window from 8:00 to 5:00. One of us took off from work and waited the whole day. When we called, we just went into an automated voicemail, so we couldn’t ask where they are. Their online tool is not well-designed since we weren’t able to contact a human being to found out what was going on.
Nobody came. About five minutes before 5:00 or 6:00, we got a notice that it had been rescheduled to Tuesday without our knowledge. We wrote back that we wasted a whole day and nobody called to see if that day was workable for us. We never heard back. By the way, it was also very difficult to contact American Home Shield. They weren’t accessible to us during the whole day we were waiting.
After five days, they did come and the machine has been repaired. The whole issue is they wasted a whole day and gave us a window of a whole day again on Tuesday. The scheduling was so much of a hassle. We took two days off from work to do a 100-dollar repair. I would have called a regular repairman to come out the next day or I would have just bought a new dryer. It’s not worth it to take two days off from work for no reason at all.

The entire process with American Home Shield has been disapponting. Nussbaumer did absolutely nothing. The company came out and said they cannot do anything and if they do anything, that would be $700. And you need to pay them that day. But they can't do any service because they don't have anything in their truck.
I called American Home Shield and told them I want a second opinion. They told me what the company was, and I called directly to tell them what’s going on, and they sent whoever was the first one available. The technician said they would need to cut the pipe, which they didn’t need to. So then we went ahead with the plumber that we know, who has been working on our house before. He came out, snaked the drain for 45 minutes, and cleared the issue we were having without having to cut pipes.
I have called American Home Shield multiple times to try and see what they can do since the companies they're sending out are obviously doing everything in their power to either overcharge or not have anything done under coverage.
We've been with AHS for six months. When you call them, you cannot understand all the people you talk to because they’re all foreign people. Then they send out a company that will make an excuse for it not to be covered. It's extremely overpriced for them to basically just say, “It's not covered so you gotta pay for it yourself,” every time.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Joshua. I sincerely apologize that the issue with your plumbing was not resolved to your satisfaction with the assigned contractor. I would be happy to review the matter further and follow up with you to offer any assistance that may still be required.

I’ve had good things to say at American Home Shield. My kids use them, and my daughters have had some really great experiences recently. I’ve also referred it to a couple of people in my neighborhood.
The first time I made a call, they came out and I thought they had fixed it, but it really wasn’t. They made a second visit and fixed it perfectly. I'm happy with the service.
I was an American Home Shield customer about 15 years ago, when they were starting up, and I had some very good experiences back then as well. The technician who came out was great.
When I first started with them, they didn't have the video option. The video is a great addition, and it's perfect for what I need it for.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and endorsement of our services! We're thrilled to hear that you, your children, and your neighbors have all had positive experiences with American Home Shield. It's fantastic that our technicians were ultimately able to resolve your issue perfectly on the second visit, and we're glad you've found the new video claims process useful. If there’s ever anything more we can do for you or if you have further questions, feel free to reach out. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to serving you in the future.
Best wishes,Marc

I had a claim with American Home Shield for a broken garage spring. It was assigned to someone else, not the Snowy one. That company was very unresponsive and wouldn't get back to me. AHS tried escalating. And I never heard back from the guy.
It got assigned to Snowy. I forget exactly what they're called, then when it was assigned to them, they responded the next day, came out, and fixed the spring right away. The technicians they sent were very good.

My wife submitted a claim online because my furnace wasn’t working. The contractor came out to look at it, thinking it might be the control board, but it wasn’t. It turned out that there were multiple issues with the blower. That’s when they recommended a replacement.
The contractor was great, and everything was working fine now. I had no issues since the repair. I liked that American Home Shield seemed to work with good contractors, but the process itself was very inefficient and took a lot of time and calls.
I’d say it's better to sock away the premiums you pay for American Home Shield rather than paying them directly. Set up a savings account and put that money in it monthly. It will come out better.
Thank you for sharing your insights about your recent experience with American Home Shield. It's wonderful to hear that the contractors from Fix It Now Heating and Cooling provided professional service and addressed the issues with your furnace effectively. We’re committed to improving our processes to ensure a more efficient experience for you and other customers in the future.
We appreciate your feedback about the time taken to complete your service. We’ll use your comments as valuable input towards enhancing our operations and speeding up our response times. Your suggestions about maintaining a separate savings for home repairs instead of depending solely on our services are noted, and we understand the concern driving those sentiments.
If there’s anything further you'd like to address, please don’t hesitate to connect with us. We value your feedback, as it guides us in striving for a superior customer experience.
Thank you for choosing American Home Shield, and we hope to confidently restore your faith in our services.Sincerely,

I had a leaking valve from the water pump of my Bosch dishwasher. American Home Shield sent out Roman from Aurora Appliance Repair. He’s super professional. He got right to the bottom of what my issue was with my dishwasher. He didn’t have parts readily available. It was about a week and a half before the part came in. He came right back out and was done within 30 minutes. I had a really good experience with them. Having the American Home Shield warranty is worth it. I definitely recommend them.

Submitting the claims through the American Home Shield website was easy, but I had the worst customer service interaction. Our air conditioning was broken, so we requested them to come out and take a look at what was wrong with it. It took them forever. I called them to schedule but they said that I can’t call them to schedule me. They need to call me. After I scheduled with them for a week out, they wouldn’t give me a specific time. They only gave me a date and said that they’ll call me between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning on that day to tell me what time they might be there. That morning, I never got a call. Around 8:30, I called them, and they said that they called but I didn’t answer.
Because the window had already passed, they could no longer actually come out, I needed to reschedule. That took another week. The scheduling was extremely annoying. When they finally came out, they didn’t manage to do their job. The first technician said that I needed refrigerant. I asked if he could put refrigerant in, and he said, he couldn’t and he had to come back. He was there for about five minutes and said he properly diagnosed it. It took another two weeks for him to come back. He put in five pounds of refrigerant. I don’t know how he arrived at five pounds. I found out after the fact that it was a ridiculous amount, and there’s no way he could have known that’s what was needed. He charged $250 and said American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound.
The air conditioning worked for about 15 minutes and then stopped working. It turns out he didn’t properly diagnose that we had an extreme refrigerant leak. He should have done a proper diagnostic test to identify where the leak was coming from instead of just tightening a few nuts and bolts. I had to call him back out, which took another two weeks. He ripped all my air conditioning units off the wall inside the house and tightened more nuts and bolts. Then he decided to do a leak test, but instead of identifying which line had the leak, he just wanted to confirm that there was a leak in the system, which we already knew because he had put five pounds of refrigerant in and there was none left when he came back.
I found out that the technician should be able to identify where exactly the leak is coming from, because if he only confirms that there’s a leak, he doesn’t know what to repair. He was half-assing the whole situation. He said that he would come back just to confirm that there was an actual leak. Then I got a notice from American Home Shield that Furnace Doctors contacted them and closed the claim, saying they had fixed it, which was absolutely not the case. When I called Furnace Doctors, they told me I needed to call American Home Shield and reopen the claim. At that point, I couldn’t work with Furnace Doctors anymore.
I called American Home Shield and asked for a new technician. They told me I had to open a new claim, and when I did, they assigned Furnace Doctors again. I was on the phone with American Home Shield for hours several times. Eventually, they assigned a new technician who actually knows what he’s doing. The new technician properly diagnosed where the leak is coming from, but he still needs to come back to fix it, which takes another week or two just to get on the schedule. They did reimburse me for the $125 service fee because I’ve had such a bad experience, but they didn’t reimburse me for the $250 I had to pay for the refrigerant. It’s been a two-and-a-half to three-month process without air conditioning during the heart of summer. It was a horrible experience.
We understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and AHS truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to follow up with you further and address your concerns. We will have a representative reach out to you via email within 24-48 business hours.

The guy that American Home Shield sent out to fix my dishwasher was terrific. It was leaking so he put a seal in and some other part. If ever I have a problem like that, I would request for him ‘cause he was wonderful. We’ve had people come out who didn’t know what they were doing, and if they were working for me, they wouldn't be, because they give American Home Shield a bad name. But that man in particular was nice and very knowledgeable. He was excellent.

I filed a claim online because a belt on our dryer had torn off. Prodigy Appliance Repair came out and inspected it and replaced it right there on site, so that worked out really well. Their online service is very easy to use. It was simple. They got back with me quickly, so I'm extremely satisfied.
American Home Shield is a good program. One of the small issues I have with them, though, which is understandable, is scheduling. It takes a while to get crews out to do work. But other than that, it's great.

Altstadt Hoffman Plumbing came out and they had to replace a hot water heater. The replacement I got was an off-brand, and getting the water to get warm is fine. They were able to do it without any issue, and it was done in a timely manner. It took me about two weeks without having hot water, which was American Home Shield’s fault because they insisted that they order the water heater. In that experience, I did not save any money, and it just gave me a lot of headaches and more problems by having to wait two weeks for not having hot water.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent service experience, Gary. I am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We understand how important it is to resolve repair issues as quickly as possible, and apologize that was not your experience. I would be happy to follow up with you and speak about your concerns further.

Terrible experience with American Home Shield! You guys are refusing to fixed or replace my non-functional HVAC system, claiming it's working because it's running. Newsflash: if it's not cooling, it's not working! After months of back-and-forth, I'm still stuck with a broken AC. - the technician lie and said they fixed a leak. They don't stand behind their promises or provide adequate service. 1/5 stars.
I am truly sorry to hear about the issues with your HVAC system and the overall experience you've had. This situation falls short of the quality service we aim to provide.
I want to help resolve this for you as quickly as possible. We are committed to resolving this issue to your satisfaction and restoring your confidence in our services.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we are eager to make things right.
