I had an electrical issue that somebody worked on, and everything went fine with that claim. There was only one particular situation with a plumber where I had a garbage disposal replaced, but originally, the technician that came out said that he would have to deny the claim even though, apparently, technicians don't have the power to deny anything. His reasoning was that he saw some surface rust in the garbage disposal, which was odd. Then he offered to replace the garbage disposal for 360 bucks or so, but I ended up talking to American Home Shield and they did tell me that that wasn't correct protocol and that he should have never done that. AHS actually covered it, because within the contract, rust would be normal wear and tear.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that the initial claim process was smooth and that your electrical issue was resolved professionally. We apologize for the confusion regarding the garbage disposal replacement, and we're glad that our team addressed the coverage under normal wear and tear swiftly. It's gratifying to know our support proved to be responsive and fair in the end. We appreciate your feedback and are here to assist you with any further needs.

Rotor Drain Cleaning did something very simple for us that we did not know was the problem. A toilet in one of our guest bathrooms was not flushing, and because it's a spare bathroom, I go in every couple of weeks just to flush. I noticed the last time I flushed it that it had a hollow sound like there was no water in it. When I went back in to flush it the next time, it wouldn't flush. There was no water coming in. When the representative from the plumbing company came, he found that the water had been turned off. My husband and I had not done it. Maybe one of us bumped up against it or maybe the last time I cleaned it, I brushed up against it, but it was very simple. The representative was very professional and nice.
As far as American Home Shield, the price is a little high, but you get what you pay for. They have resolved the issues when I placed the call. I would recommend them. For the most part, they responded quickly. With this latest service call, they exceeded the 48-hour turnaround time. It was over the holiday which might be the reason, but I had to place a second request because no one had responded. So, I was dissatisfied with that but once a gentleman from the plumbing company responded, the solution was very quick.
Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed review! We're glad to hear that the plumbing service provided by our technician was efficient and professional. We also appreciate your understanding about the delays experienced due to the holiday—your patience does not go unnoticed. It's wonderful to know that you've experienced reliable service with us consistently, which led you back to American Home Shield. Your continued recommendation is highly valued, and we are committed to maintaining our efforts to promptly address and resolve all your home repair needs moving forward. The techs who came out were professional. They listened to what I had to say, took a look at it, verified right away, and got right to work. It’s been a good experience with AHS. They do exactly what they advertise.

We had a leak on the main water supply to the house where the shutoff valve is. I called AHS to submit a claim and calling it in was easy. It was hard to get somebody out. But some of that had to do with the timing. It was right after Christmas. A lot of companies weren't working and we had to wait several days. At least it wasn't flooding the house, but it was a constant leak.
The first technician they sent out didn't act like he wanted to do the repair. They sent him toward the end of the day and he made an excuse and left. I had to call their office and they apologized. They said they would send somebody else out the next morning. The next morning, I didn't hear from anybody. I called their office again and she said, “We're having a meeting. And as soon as the meeting's over, we'll send somebody out." I told her that the guy didn't act like he wanted to work, that he acted like he just wanted to go home. She said, "I'm gonna send somebody different." She sent out a tech the next day, but it was later in the day. But he got it fixed and it was fine.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with American Home Shield. We appreciate your feedback regarding the claim submission process and are glad you found it easy to initiate service. We're sorry to hear about the delays during the holiday season and the initial visit from the technician, which did not meet your expectations. We're grateful that the eventual repair was completed adequately.
Your suggestions about improving follow-up procedures and checking on customer service timeliness are invaluable. Should you need any further support or if there's anything else we can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact us. My husband had turned our heater on, and it smelled like there was something burning. He went downstairs to check the furnace, and everything was turned on, but it wasn't blowing heat into the house. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online through my computer. They sent me the Eagle tech's information. It was on a Sunday night that I had done it, and he called first thing the next morning. He was very quick and really good. I loved him. When he came, he checked it and he said that our motor had gone out to blow it. He ran out and got us parts because that night, it was supposed to get really cold. He came back, and he fixed us up. That claim went very well.
I've never really had a problem with American Home Shield. There have been issues before, not with AHS, but somebody didn't want to pay something and I called AHS, and they worked on the phone with me. AHS is wonderful. I used to have First American Home, and I didn't like them, and I switched to AHS, and we haven't had a problem since then. The only thing that is a little bit hard is sometimes their customer service is overseas at call centers, and not everybody who answers the phone is really good in English. It took me a couple of calls to get through to somebody who understood what the issue was the last time, and then she worked with me, and she did a great job.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with AHS. We truly value your feedback and remain committed to providing dependable service that makes caring for your home easier and stress-free.

I had a water heater that needed replacing. I made a claim with American Home Shield and when the plumber came in, he said it would cost me an additional 750. I also had a leak in the wall, and when we contacted American Home Shield through their website, they said they could get somebody out in two days. You'd think that they would realize you got a leak in the wall and that it was an emergency. But they informed us who the plumber was, so I called them and told them our issue. The tech came out the next day and in the meantime, we had to turn the water off to the house.
The guy who repaired the leak did a great job and he fixed it right away that night. He didn't get here until 6 o'clock with traffic and stuff here in California, but he did a fantastic job. Other than that, American Home Shield was supposed to schedule somebody to come back and patch the walls. That never happened and I ended up doing it myself. They're also not very clear on what they cover. So, I know we're not going to go with them when our contract is up.
Lester,
I sincerely apologize for the unsatisfactory experience you encountered with American Home Shield. It's particularly concerning to hear about the unexpected expenses and service delays, along with the issues related to communication on coverage. While I'm pleased to learn that the plumber successfully fixed the leak, I recognize your frustration with the improper follow-up for wall repairs. We value all feedback and hope to have the opportunity to restore your trust in our services. If there's anything further you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. Thank you for taking the time to provide your insights.

When I put in a service request with AHS, they originally quoted me out three weeks before the techs could come. But then they called me back a few days later with an opening. We took advantage of that. The first time that the tech came out, he said what was wrong with it was a belt and he replaced the belt. The next day we used the dryer, it was still broken. We had to wait a couple of weeks before they could come out a second time.
The second time they came out, it was the same service person. He diagnosed the problem and said it was the pulley. He had to get permission from AHS to do that and if AHS gave him permission, then it would take time for the part to come in. Then they'd have to reschedule. We waited another several weeks, before the part came in.
The same person came out for a third time. He replaced the pulley. When he turned on the dryer, the drum was working again, which was the original problem. But now the dryer is making a really loud grinding noise. We looked at him and he lifted up his shoulders like a shrug and lifted up his hands like “I don't know.” We said, “There's something clearly wrong here.” He said, “This is just a noise. And American Home Shield doesn't fix noises.” Which it turns out to be true. AHS wouldn't make them fix it. We ultimately bought a new dryer. But the one good thing that came out of it is, American Home Shield gave me a credit for the service call.

There was a light fixture that was not working right and my handyman said that the wires were screwed up. When the techs that AHS sent came out, the wires were not screwed up. But they changed the light bulb and it works. They did very little, but they were well worth what I paid because it was not working before.
I've had two service calls in the last four months with AHS and both times, they've called me within 30 minutes. They were not always that prompt. Maybe I've just been lucky. But both have come out by the next day, too. I have had American Home Shield for seven years with this house and 18 years with my last house and I've been very happy with them and the people.

My first claim with AHS was for the garage door opener which wasn't getting any power. They were able to fix that without any problem. We put the batteries in backwards on the wall remote and then it unpaired the thing.
My other claim is for a hot water heater that is not making enough hot water. The tech just raised the temperature, claimed it's the temperature gauge. But I know where I live, a 15-year-old hot water heater needs to be replaced. I also indicated that I had a leaky pipe. I've got a shutoff valve that's leaking. He said, "You said that was on the hot water heater." I said, “No. I just said I had a leaky pipe.” He couldn't say exactly what the issue was. I didn't think the guy was interested in being here and doing the job. Once he found out we put the hot water heater in, he was like, “I don't wanna deal with these people,” is the impression I got. Now, we're still waiting for the part.

I submitted a plumbing claim with AHS. When the first vendor failed to show up, I called AHS and they assigned a different vendor. The tech who came out was okay. He showed me pictures of the clogged drain itself. He said he took it out in the back, he was able to get the clog out, and then he was able to attach everything.
I also had a claim for a fan. There was a ceiling fan that we still currently have, but the light kit on the ceiling fan is not working with the remote. I felt like they should have either figured out how to get a new remote for us or they should have replaced the fan, and they did not. That's been the only issue that I've had with AHS. I would tell others to get it. For us, it's been a lifesaver.

American Home Shield assigned someone to fix my dryer. I provided the dryer's information and company, and the technician was supposed to detect the issue and fix it. The person who arrived was so rude. He came a little late and I was taking a bath at that time, thinking that the technician may not arrive. My wife was there, and she asked him to wait for 5 minutes so that by that time, I can come out and explain the problem. However, he was not ready to wait. That was okay. I went ahead without taking a bath, came out and started explaining the problem, but he did not even look into the dryer. He just assumed some issue and said that he doesn't have the parts for that particular dryer. He went back.
On the way back, he explained that there was some problem with the pulley in the dryer. I asked him, “Okay. There could be a problem with the pulley or the belt itself.” I asked him to bring all the parts next time whenever he comes so that he can fix all the parts at once. He rudely said that he will not bring all the parts. After that, I called American Home Shield and said “The detection has not happened yet.” I asked for a refund because the first $125 is supposed to be for the detection, and then the service charge, but the person did not even spend 10 minutes in my home to find the issue.
When I called American Home Shield's customer care, I had a bad experience there as well. I asked them to escalate the issue because this was not the right thing to do for an insurance company. The rep said that he cannot escalate it further, so I asked him if he was the CEO of the company. There is always a way to escalate an issue until it goes to the highest level of management. The customer care rep was not that rude, but he did not do the work I asked. After that, I hung up. What else I can do? I will probably cancel the plan in a few days.

I had a leak under our sink, and American Home Shield's online request for service doesn't have anything like that except “Pipes” or “The faucet.” So, I incorrectly chose the faucet because it's the line that goes to the faucet. When the man came out and looked, he said it was the valves and they probably need to replace them. So, he called American Home Shield and they said it was not on the service request, so the man couldn't touch it. He could do nothing, and it cost me $125 for the service call even though they wouldn't let him do anything. So, I was displeased.
I have not spoken to AHS yet because I haven't had time to call them. Plus the last time I tried to call them, I spent an hour and a half on hold, so I haven't really wanted to waste the time because it would just irritate me. The man wasn't allowed to touch it, but he was allowed to stand there and tell me how to at least keep it from drowning the bottom of my sink so it's not a problem. It will become a problem again, and then I'll have to figure out how to word it so that American Home Shield will let them come in and replace the valves.
I have been with AHS for years and my experience has been fairly well. It's just their online request for service has such limited selection criteria, and it doesn't have a box in there that you can type in your problem and clarify what the issue is. If they have that, it would make everything so much easier. They could fix that easily by putting a dialogue box there.
Sincerely,
Marc

My air conditioner broke for the fourth year in a row. American Home Shield sent an incompetent company out. They look at it and the technician told me, "There's a mold in the plenum. But you got a leak in your A-frame, which is away from the plenum." But American Home Shield said, "Well, yeah, molds caused a hole in your A-frame." I worked in the oil industry for 35 years and I never heard about a mold eating a hole through aluminum. So I get stuck using their company having to buy a whole new air conditioner. With the way they were dragging their feet when it was 100 and some odd degrees with the heat index down here for the third week in a row, I ended up having to pay $14,000 out of my pocket to get a new air conditioner. They didn't care.
When I had a claim for my washing machine, we had no washing machine for over six weeks. Then on the day that we were supposed to finally make the decision on them replacing it, the guy gets the part and I get my washing machine fixed. But when you watch the American Home Shield commercials, it sounds like five minutes later, you get everything fixed, which is just false advertising. They don't care about their customer. They keep cutting how much they'll cover. When I first started with them, they were supposed to cover everything to replacement. But they don't do that anymore. So I'm actively looking for a new company.

I am so disappointed with American Home Shield. I cannot recommend them to anyone. The refrigerator stopped working and we reported that on November 10th. It is still not fixed. This is a 33-year-old refrigerator that American Home Shield sent the repairman out multiple times, and each time, he changes a part and discovers another part needs to be changed. I do not trust this repairman. I've asked for a different repair company to come in. I will not let the repairman back in my house. He's destructive.
AHS is so rigid in the fact that they say that their contractors are all great and that this is just the process that they have to go through and they cannot do anything to replace the refrigerator until it is deemed unrepairable by the repair company. Tthe repair company has no reason to disqualify the refrigerator from repairs. They will keep doing repairs time and time again because that's what they get paid from AHS for. They will repair this refrigerator until our contract runs out. They will not offer a replacement.

American Home Shield was recommended to me by a friend. Every issue I've had has been fixed. But I have to jump through hoops to get it done the right way. The contractor came out because my water heater was leaking. However, the tech did no diagnosis. He came, looked at it, but didn't inspect the water heater. He looked at all the components around it to point out all the things he would have to replace. He suggested maybe it's a bad pressure regulator valve. He put a gauge on my hose bibb outside. The pressure was 65, which is well within accessible range. But he came in and told me he had to replace that valve, too, and he would call AHS and let me know what they said.
He went out to his van and talked to them for 20 minutes. He came back and said AHS will not cover me because it was determined that it was high-water pressure going to the water heater. He told me that he could do it for 3,400 bucks. I said, "Nope" because I didn't believe that he did any troubleshooting. I called AHS and told them I wanted a second opinion.
AHS told me that if the report came back the same as EMET, I'd be charged another service fee. So, I requested the report. They said I'd have it in 24 hours. 24 hours went by. I called again. I was told that the request was never put in. But now that was put in and it happened in 24 hours. I still have not received the report. It has been about a week. I still haven't received the report that I was told twice I would have. The reps are very polite when I call them, but they're not effective. I've been unhappy with it. The second opinion people came out, came up with a different diagnosis, and replaced it yesterday. I'm good to go.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret to hear about the inconvenience you experienced with the handling of your water heater issue. It's concerning that the diagnosis and communication did not meet your expectations; we'll certainly look into this matter further.

Updated on 06/30/2026: I spent three months between November to February getting my AC unit fixed. It was a nightmare process. Now, only a couple of months later my unit isn't working again, and the technician sent to evaluate the problem informed me the original work is bad and needs to be redone. They were able to tell me the previous company (Fletcher Heating and Air) was a bad company, and they are always fixing their mistakes. I did not tell the new technician the name of the original company - he just knew. He stated their company has told American Home Shield this is a problem. Now American Home Shield will not respond to my attempts at contact to get this resolved.
Original Review: I have a warranty with American Home Shield. My heating (AC) went out the week before Thanksgiving. I immediately filed a complaint, and a service company was dispatched within 24 hours and identified the problem. Since then, there have been continual excuses from the service technician at Fletcher Heating and Air and American Home Shield on why they cannot get my unit fixed, even though it falls within the scope of the warranty and is an approved claim. It is now January 2026, and my unit is still not fixed, with no date on when they will fix it. I have called daily and am continually told someone will call me from escalation, but I repeatedly do not receive these calls.
At this point, American Home Shield is in breach of contract, and I will seek ways to resolve this through third parties. I have had this warranty for two years with no claims, and they cannot fix this claim, which is ridiculous and not the service they sell. At this point, it feels like a scam. My electric bill was $200 in December because I had to run auxiliary heat to ensure my pipes did not freeze in 20-degree weather, on top of the fact that I had paid the service fee.
Previous information documented January 5, 2026. Update below from January 15, 2026. I have now gotten an estimate for the repair, requesting that I pay almost $800. However, the online estimate provided no details as to what is covered, what is not covered, or an itemized list of charges. I called their customer service center to ask for this information. They began explaining, but when I tried to ask why this wasn't covered under my warranty and pointed out sections that would mean these charges were covered, they just kept repeating that there was a limit that was not written in the contract. I asked them to please send me an itemized list of charges, which they informed me they cannot provide in writing. I'm sorry, I will not pay anyone $800 if they cannot tell me exactly what I am paying for. I also asked if I could speak to the authorization department to get a clearer picture of this information, but they told me I could not.
Yesterday, I was told that my complaint had been escalated to the highest level of complaint, and because the complaint was so high up, I couldn't get any information because customer service has no way to get me in touch with that team, and "they are so high up they don't speak to customers." I am sorry, but if you are in a business with customers, at no point should you be too good to speak to those paying for your service. I was also informed that in emails between the contracted dispatcher and AHS, they wouldn't talk to me because I had submitted a BBB complaint.
It is extremely inappropriate that at this point, I cannot speak to someone in the United States or Memphis who can actually talk to me about this issue. The only way I can speak to someone on the phone is to call customer service, which is being handled overseas, and they do not have access to transfer calls to the main office in Memphis for a real resolution. I do not feel that asking for a phone call from someone who is making coverage decisions to explain to me the decision process and provide me with an itemized list of charges being covered and not covered is too much to ask.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience, and I greatly appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. I'm sorry to hear about the frustrations and confusion you've faced throughout your claim process. The situations you've outlined with the services we've provided, especially regarding the outstanding repairs and related communications, are certainly not the standards we strive for.
Again, I deeply apologize for the distress caused and we are committed to rectifying this situation for you swiftly.

This is the second claim I've made with American Home Shield in five years. I utilize whatever is most convenient in submitting my claim. I put it online, but I've called before. We had some plumbing issue. At first, the contractor said, "We can't do much about this because there were fears that the pipes would break." I submitted that I was unhappy with what the service was, especially for what I'm paying for AHS. They came back later, were able to pull the toilet off, and left me some extra wax rings. They tried their best to figure out what the issue was. The coverage only covers what's in the house or underneath the surrounding of the foundation. The issue never got resolved, but they did their best.
I always argue what I get for what I pay for. There's significant value for large appliance ends or fails or something that needs to be replaced, but there are many restrictions on all the other things that AHS claim they cover that we're at the point of questioning if it's valuable for us. Evaluate and know well what's covered, and decide if it's worth your money.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

We had AHS for years because canceling was just a hassle. We used them two times. The first time for a refrigerator repair where they sent the lowest rated repair company who ruined the back of our refrigerator and it still didn’t work correctly. I contacted AHS who said they don’t guarantee the work and to contact the company. I contacted the company who basically told me to get lost. I then had to get LG involved to fix it properly. It has never worked the same. Then I was going to get an AC tune up and the company showed up an hour a half after the 8 hour time window and we had left and still charged us the service call and company reported they were here.
I tried to use them a third time for a plumber but again they were trying to send out the bottom of a barrel plumber who I wouldn’t even want in my house. I called them and they wouldn’t change plumbers. Then when I finally got around to canceling them on 1/7/26 I was on the phone for 20 minutes ensuring a non stop high pitch sales tactic where I kept on asking them to just cancel and they told they couldn’t. I had to listen. I received an email of cancelation and they charged me again today. Horrible company. Run just run!

I did the initial claim for my fridge three months ago and it's still not fixed. I had good interactions with the contractor in the beginning but it got sour because they have come up to my house about seven to eight times, and they still have not been able to fix the fridge. They keep telling me that it's fixable, but it really isn't. Because they've tried sending their senior people and they couldn't fix it. They sent the same parts over and over again. Even though the parts weren't working the first time, they ordered the same parts again and again.
I told them to, "Please stop ordering the same parts. The fridge is not working. You guys have sent out all these people. Can you please just tell the American Home Shield the truth that you can't fix it?" But they refused to. They refused to say that it's irreplaceable or it can't be replaced. Their management refused to call me back. They gave me an email to email management. I've emailed them three times and they haven't responded once.
I've had two contractors come out from American Home Shield. The first one said they couldn't fix it. So, they sent out the second one. The second one is the one that is pretty much billing American Home Shield, getting all the money for the parts and for coming out there. They refuse to admit that they can't fix it even though they've been out eight times to my house to get it fixed.
American Home Shield doesn't call back. They repeat the same thing. They don't really review anything. I've been begging and pleading. I've been calling every week for three months to try to get this fixed and get it replaced, and they refuse to. I keep telling them, "This contractor, they are just milking you for money. They're lying. They cannot fix the fridge. Can you please replace it?" They just said, "Oh, we can't until we get an approval from the contractor." I told them, "But the contractor is not gonna give it to you because they just wanna keep billing you. They've been out. They can't fix it. They've sent their senior people. It's not fixable. And I've been without a fridge for over three months now." They didn't care. They kept saying, "Oh, well, we'll escalate it." But nothing ever got escalated. I never spoke to management. I haven't spoken to anybody and nobody calls me back.
American Home Shield also told me that in my contract for the fridge, there's a limit of only $2,000. They said that out of the $2,000 that the other company has used pretty much all the money for them coming out the eight times. All that is left is $495. So, they're telling me that all I can get is 495 to replace my fridge, which obviously is not gonna replace the fridge. I even told them, "That doesn't make any sense. If you guys didn't fix it, you're supposed to replace it." They said, "Oh, yeah. But we only have 495 left." I told them that was not my fault. I called them every week, several times in a week, and I pleaded and I said, "Please stop sending the contractors. They cannot fix it. I just need you to replace it." But their response to me was, no, they need to send the people again because they have to be the ones to determine that it can't be fixed. I have two small children and no working fridge in the house.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I put in a work order for my furnace through American Home Shield's app and when I went back in, there was no way to follow up on the open ticket through the app, so I wound up calling customer care. This was my first time having to call the home warranty company and when I tried to ask for an update on the status of my claim, the system wasn't seeing the ticket, so I had to ask for a customer care person.
I was very unhappy with the way my claim was going initially when they sent out the first vendor, Sawyer Construction. I was upset about it and I had to press to get a manager. I requested a secondary vendor, and Central Valley came out with more knowledge and customer care. They were also more professional than Sawyer Construction. American Home Shield is slowly earning my trust.
When Central Valley came to evaluate my furnace, they came prepared. They put their gauge on it to see what part was not working properly so they could see what was going on. They determined that there were two issues (two types of motors) and I was impressed that they could see where the initial problem was happening. There were a couple of challenges, but once American Home Shield authorized the work, Central Valley called me back, scheduled an appointment and came out quickly.

We had water leaking into our ceiling and my husband made a request over the phone the other day. The automated system said that they will get back to us within a business day while the website says the next business day. We really hate the automated system, it doesn't have a place to put it's an emergency. It would be nice if we could talk to a human.
But I did get an email back that gave me Pruitt's information. The email said they would call me to set up an appointment. We called Pruitt ourselves and they came right out. From the time my husband reported it till they got here was probably max six hours. They stayed late and got it taken care of.
We purchased American Home Shield at a reasonable rate when we bought the house four years ago. If you purchase it later and it's a new contract, it costs a lot more. We've used it a few times since then and every single time, it's been very pleasant and easy to do. Their contractors have all been great.

A Sears tech came out and checked the ice maker. I told him that it was making a block of ice. He proceed to pull out the ice basket and he noticed that there was an ice at the end of the ice maker. He mentioned that that is something that is very common in this kind of refrigerator. He proceeded to clean up and to unfrost the ice block so he can clear all the area. He noticed that there was an air flow that was going inside the ice maker that possibly that was the cause for the ice on the end of the ice maker that is precluding the ice maker to do the ice. He put some kind of a glue to cover that area. He also noticed that the ice basket was broken inside out. The ice was inside the ice bucket and made pressure and broke it from the inside to out. So, he asked for a new ice bucket.
The tech was here for more than an hour working with the refrigerator. He made the order and he left. He was very professional. He explained to me everything that he was doing. He looked very proficient. He showed me how he was trying to melt the block of ice. The day after he left, I received the ice bucket. I received a text message saying that a technician would come, but it didn't say that it came for to install that repair part. So I wrote back on a text message asking for instructions what to do, and then I received a call saying that I could put the ice bucket directly. I said, "It's okay.” My wife know how to do it. Promise is made. Promise is not kept. Since American Home Shield (AHS) has been purchased by Frontdoor, Inc. their customer service and claim speed and accuracy has significantly suffered in my opinion. We made a claim for a significant leak in our plumbing and they promised to have a plumber to our location either the next day or the day after. Three days later, the plumber never showed to our appointmentand we called the company. I was told that they rescheduled us for three days from now. We called AHS and had the runaround for several hours including escalation and contact with the plumbers. Hey HS told us that they had spoken to the plumbing company and someone was going to come out to make the appointment that we had for that day. We called the plumbing company and they said no nobody called.
We escalated again another two hours on the phone and finally the escalation person said we’ll have to wait for Friday cause they can’t do anything or go to a different plumbing company. Of course their rep told us on the phone that it was our fault that we made changes in the appointment which we did not do no phone calls. No heads up, no warning at all. CAVEAT EMPTOR buyer beware. We are currently looking for other alternatives. Impossible to contact corporate officers reps on phone do not know numbers or say they have the authority for that escalation.

They have been to my house 5 times. Replaced two boards and still doesn’t work. And everytime they come you have to set a four hour window. Here’s where it gets good. They gave a total of four recall to get it fix which doesn’t include the first two times. The first they order the part. The second they show up with the parts. Then after that 4-5 more times to get it right hopefully. Still waiting. Going on for months. Please please don't take my word. Read the contract. Definitely not worth it if you add all the time, frustration, and deductible. One last thing I bought a Maytag 'cause I thought they were the best, but not anymore. They were bought out by Whirlpool.

The American Home Shield policy was transferred to us when we bought the house years ago and it’s been amazing. My husband and I are getting older. It's harder to get into smaller spaces and try to fix things and our appliances are getting older. I love that if the contractors come out and can't fix the unit, AHS would replace it. The economy right now is terrible and the cost of living is so high. So, American Home Shield has saved us. They do right by you.
We had problems with our heat one season, and we tried a couple of companies that did a quick fix, but it didn't work. The kids were little then, and it was freezing in here, and we were gonna go to a hotel. Finally, a guy came out and said the heating needed to be replaced. AHS replaced our entire HVAC unit. One of the workers fell through the ceiling into my daughter's bedroom. But they took care of all of that, too. There was a time when the dryer was blowing a fuse due to lint clogging the vent. The technician from Beyer Appliance said it is supposed to be expelled through the pipe and it must be clogged because when that happens, that blows the fuse automatically, so you don't start a fire. He told us we had to call a specialist to blow that out. He replaced the fuse but told us not to use it until the company that handles that comes.
I’ve been able to call American Home Shield’s customer service when there was a company I didn’t care for and they switched it. I’ve also called when a company couldn’t come out for several days and asked if they could find someone sooner. They searched and, oftentimes, were able to find another provider who could come out earlier. AHS is a type of coverage that everyone should have. It’s great for families because if something fails, they get you up and running right away.
Thank you so much for your loyal partnership and sharing your fantastic experiences with AHS over the years! It's truly rewarding to know that our services, like replacing your HVAC system during a critical time and handling unforeseen inconveniences, have been beneficial to you. American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp to look at the repair work that was done by another company. The gentleman that came out said that there was nothing that he could do, that there were some items that were messed up previously by another company. I asked him to explain what he meant when he was telling me that there were some other items that were messed up, but he told me that he didn't know. He stated that he had the part to fix it. He attempted to fix it, but when he did, I wound up getting a gas leak in my house later on that evening. I've been exposed to gas for two days and was really bad off with headaches and nausea.
They just wanted to go back and forth instead of fixing the issue. The president from United Air Temp was supposed to call me back, but he never did. He said he was gonna reach out to his legal department and they were gonna reach back out to me, but they didn't. American Home Shield didn't know anything either. They just gave me a check for $100 and told me to find another company to come out and do it. I had a really hard time finding somebody else to come out and do it. They did it, but it took about a month for the issue to get resolved.
If you have American Home Shield, you have to stand firm in getting what they pay for ‘cause you pay them a premium every month. They only sent out another company to fix the issue once I threatened to sue them. If you have any issues with the overseas representatives, ask to speak to someone in the US that can really understand what's going on with your problem. Make them provide you with documentation of everything they do so that you can go back when a customer service rep say something that's gonna be done so you're not arguing back with 15 or 16 people who all have different stories.

My only complaint is that they charge a $125 service charge to come out and look at your appliance needing service. That's a rip off. Plus they take too long to set up an appointment with a technician.
We appreciate your feedback to help us learn areas of improvement for the better of our customers. We hope you continue to enjoy AHS and the customer service we provide.

When I started with AHS I was happy with their services but every year the price went up, and my deductible went up. We decided it was no longer the best option for us. I got on their website and sent in a chat to cancel my policies (I had 2). I was told that could only be done via phone. I called in and spent forever on the phone attempting to cancel. There is a huge language barrier. After telling them multiple times, "NO I do not want to continue, I want to cancel, I am canceling," I got off the phone. I later received a statement for a past due balance. I chatted in again, was told I had to call, called, was told they had no note that I canceled. I explained that I had canceled in June which is why no payment or services have been made since then.
The lady refused to help then transferred me to the cancellations department where I was again told that I in fact had not canceled AND they refused to cancel the policy. Today I received a call from a debt collector. I have filed a complaint with the BBB as well. This company REFUSED to cancel your policy then continues to bill.

Terrible company and tough to get a hold of. No chat or email options and no way to talk to anyone who can actually help other than an escalated callback days later. American Home Shield sent service technicians four separate times to address ongoing problems with my washing machine and dryer. Despite repeated visits, neither appliance was fixed.
The dryer consistently failed to dry clothes properly. The temperature and dryness sensors stopped working, cycles took excessively long, and even after I paid out of pocket to repair the vent pipe to eliminate that as a cause, the dryer still did not function correctly. The washer had the agitator replaced, but afterward began frequently going out of balance even with normal loads. On the most recent visit, the technician said the washer was “fine” without recreating or resolving the issue.
After multiple failed repair attempts and no meaningful resolution from American Home Shield, I was left without functional appliances and ultimately had to purchase a new washer and dryer out of pocket. The new appliances work perfectly, confirming that the old units were worn out and beyond reasonable repair. American Home Shield refused to authorize replacement despite the repeated failures, wasted service calls, and inconvenience. I believe this is an unfair business practice — continuing to collect premiums while failing to provide repair or replacement as promised. Would not recommend.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I have an issue with my oven. After awhile it goes into an F15 Alarm and shuts off for approximately 15 minutes before it can be restarted. I paid the Service charge twice to have this issue fixed but it keeps coming back. This problem was "repaired" on 7 Nov 2025 for the second time, the same issue reappeared on 5 Jan 2026. I was told I had to pay another service charge.
When I explained to the customer service person the there should be no service charge, he said a new service call would have to be started with a new service charge. I disagree for the simple fact it is the same issue. If it was a different issue I would totally understand. But this is the same issue and for the third time. He tried to explain to me that the repair is only warranted for 30 days and would not escalate the issue to another level. I tried to explain to him that the problem was not repaired, only the symptom. The other day it went into anF15 alarm 5 times and had to through out what we were trying to bake. Working with this company has been the worst experience. They sent out a subcontractor and the technician who came out indicated that the equipment needed replacing. But they made the subcontractor write it up as maintenance. So I got a second opinion, and once again the technician indicated a replacement was needed, but when American home shield (AHS) denied the claim, upon investigation I found out that once again it was written up as maintenance issue. All this while I was paying annual maintenance for my HVAC through another company. The subcontractor then sent me quotes through AHS for replacing the unit., but AHS said they wouldn't cover any part of it. So an absolute waste of time and effort over 1 month, and more than 5 years of paying for this insurance resulting in no advantage at all.
We apologize for the difficult situation you've faced throughout your experience with us. It's disappointing to learn that our service did not meet your expectations and that communication issues led to both confusion and frustration involving the submission of your inquiries as maintenance rather than replacement. Your feedback is invaluable, and we'd appreciate the chance to investigate and address these concerns more thoroughly. We will reach out directly; we're here to help make things right. The contractor that American Home Shield sent out to look at my air conditioning unit completely misdiagnosed the problem with the unit resulting in a determination that it would not be covered under the warranty. The contractor then offered to do the repair outside of the warranty for $3,500. They were either completely incompetent or scam artists. Eventually I just wound up hiring my own contractor who properly diagnosed the problem and repaired it for $542, which included wiring things back properly that the American Home Shield contractor messed up when they were out here. Of course American Home Shield refused to do anything to compensate me for my costs and inconvenience. Now, I can't get them to stop calling me to renew my warranty. Avoid American Home Shield like the plague!

I have multiple American Home Shield home warranty plans in effect. I sold one property so need to cancel the plan, as is permitted. AHS does not provide for online cancellation from the account dashboard, but instead requires the consumer to call a number to cancel plans. I have done so, and after slogging through a poorly crafted phone tree, reached the line to cancel the plan. If I wanted to pay a plan premium or purchase a plan, I believe I would be speaking to someone in minutes, if not seconds. To cancel a plan, the line advised that there will be a 50 minute to one hour hold to speak to a representative. I listened to the hold music for 56 minutes before someone came on the line to then tell me he would need to transfer me to the "cancellation team."
Simply put, the system is set up to make it difficult to cancel a warranty plan. For anyone trying to do so from work on a break, or from home after work, the system seems either to be designed to wear the consumer down so they give up or, giving AHS the benefit of the doubt, an allocation of resources that starves the "cancel plan" line.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We regret the challenges you faced during the cancellation process and understand your frustration with the lengthy hold times. We aim to make all interactions seamless for returning or parting customers, such as yourself. If there is anything that you feel further requires addressing, please feel free to respond to the email sent so we may assist. We appreciate your patience in the matter.

The technician's truck broke down, and they didn't have anyone to send out. Instead of coming, it took four extra days for them to get out there. By the time they got out there, we had damaged it to our house, which wasn't covered by American Home Shield. I was frustrated by that. AHS should have sent someone else out. If the technician couldn't get there right away, I shouldn't have had to wait four days. Other than that, we've been happy with the majority of the technicians.

The contractor who fixed the water heater were very efficient. They got it done quickly and kept the appointments on time. They didn’t mess around. The technician was fast and professional. But the $100 fee is pricey. When you call American Home Shield and if it doesn't require that much work, that's an expensive call. Then, the technicians only do one thing. So, if you got a couple of items, unless it's the same, each one of those becomes a $100 charge. I’ve had two calls lately and it’s been very positive. The biggest thing is when you can only do certain things because the provider that comes is only a plumber versus if you had a handyman that could do multiple things on a call.

If we're rating American Home Shield, I do not have a problem with them because when I had a problem they escalated it for me. But sometimes I would run into some vendors that couldn't get the job done. AHS has always been good with me, but I had a bad experience with ATL Agile. They were not competent enough. They had to come out 9 to 10 times to fix my refrigerator, and still didn't fix it. I had to go with another vendor. That vendor is the one that we've had before that still was through AHS. But they came out and had to evaluate it. They missed a thing on it. They came out to fix the second part but had the wrong fan. They came out for the third time.
They initially came out because I got a controller board error. They fixed that problem. But when they fixed that, the ice machine stopped working. They tried to fix the ice machine, and it took seven additional visits. They kept replacing it, but it didn't work. It was the condensing fan with the compressor. Those two things weren't working properly. They didn't diagnose it. The last time they came out, they diagnosed that the condensing fan was bad. They will try to get approval from AHS to replace that, but I asked AHS to give me a new vendor because I wasn't sure if I was confident that was the problem. The new vendor came out, diagnosed the compressor but not the condensing fan. I could have told them that. I let them do their thing, and they ended up missing that. My refrigerator has been out for three months. Everything before that has been great.
I have three homes on AHS. They've done great work. They've replaced one airconditioner in my other home. They've replaced the water heater in another without issue. The only thing is I always get surprised with these extras that are not covered, like Freon, and if I got a water heater that's older, when I gotta get a new water heater that's new standards, so I gotta pay the additional cost of those new standards. That's the only thing that I didn't like. But if I gotta upgrade the plan, it covers some of those. I reduced the cost because it was very expensive. I paid a lot of money. I went from being $30 to really $140, and I didn't like that. But I called AHS, and they were willing to bring it down to $60 something. I ended up picking a plan that was better at $90. It was nice that I was able to call in and negotiate with them to get a better cost on the plan and a better plan.

The first guy came out and said something fell on it and it was an induction stove. American Home Shield denied the claim that was why people called me back and I tried to explain to them. It took four repairmen to get it done. The second and third repairmen don't work on induction stoves. The fourth guy came out and looked at it. He said nothing fell on it as there's no point of impact. He also said it's not an induction stove. He ordered the part, put it in, and everything's fine. They got me satisfied, and I'm happy with the outcome. However, it seems they've changed their policy. When I call and try to speak to somebody, they're all foreigners. When I first came around, Home Shield was great. We had a water heater replaced. The customer service has been good, except for this last deal that is just crap. We had a dishwasher that we turned in on September 21st, and we just got it resolved the other day. I called American Home Shield 25 times, but they kept giving me the goddamn runaround. I kept telling them that this guy that was working on the dishwasher was full of shit. I get that they wanted this guy that started it to try to finish it. But I said, "I can get this part in my hometown," I kept saying to him, "In one day. This guy's saying it's gonna take three weeks." Well, then three weeks came, and he still was jacked. He took a chip out of our countertop and denied it, and it's his word against our word. I'm just all ticked off about it. There's nothing Home Shield can do about that part of it, but we gotta get a new countertop because of the deal. The floor is no good now because it was leaking water all over. So, we gotta have half the floor replaced. That's gonna cost 1,000 bucks that we don't have. It's supposed to be fixed in 24 to 48 hours but it was far from that. It was a nightmare.
I like that Home Shield answers the phone, and you can talk to somebody. They do the best that they can and I usually can get somewhere with them. With the other companies, you cannot get anywhere with anybody. I like Home Shield. They communicate with you, and they talk with you. The only thing is this deal with this dishwasher. It shouldn't take three months. I was looking for Home Shield to respond quicker, and they kept trying to give this guy an opportunity. When they finally got rid of them, then we got somewhere with the other company. They were really good. They really took care of things fast, and said the first tech bought the wrong part and still wasn't working. The second guy did his best to try to fix that guy's screw-up, and finally got it resolved. They said that part was too much and the part was gonna take too long, so a credit is coming in the mail to buy a new dishwasher.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your experience with American Home Shield. We are pleased to hear that you generally find our services reliable and appreciated the swift replacement of your water heater previously. We take your dishwasher issue seriously and regret the inconvenience caused by the unexpected delay, especially given the impact on your kitchen. It was something he needed to see because my system gives like SOS beacons with the light. He told me about that, and I recorded it, and it gives a code. It was number 14 code. He looked up the code, and it was either one of two things. He came back. He had one of the parts. The other part had to be ordered. He tried the one part just to see if it worked, but it ended up being the other part. It took a few times, but sometimes that's gonna happen if it can be more than one thing. But they were very professional, very good, nice and they explained everything. Also, when I had to call back so that AHS could send MaxAir back out again, they said, "Is it about the same thing?" We had a dishwasher issue. They came out maybe three times but could not fix it. Every time, they would go back and order another part, come back, and try again. We were without a dishwasher for more than a month and eventually, they agreed to replace it. They didn't replace it with the same thing, but they did install it and it never worked right. The problem was that the installation was not good, so the new guy that came out actually installed it right.
The most recent one was pretty decent, it was relatively painless. They weren't able to reach me by a phone call so I texted them. They scheduled the first availability that was a week, so it’s reasonable. And the guy that came out showed up at a time that he said he was gonna do, which is not the norm. He found the problem which was a bad installation from a previous installer. So, this third party contractor was pretty good. It took about two weeks, which is the best service I've ever gotten. Every other experience I've had with AHS has taken months and months to fix. They can wash their hands of this and say it's a third party, and their business model is like they're the middleman. But the reality is that what I’m getting for my insurance is pretty poor.
I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. If it's a small problem, it could be handled like this last person. But if it's an actual problem that you need insurance for, they just are useless because it takes months for something to get fixed. Meanwhile, you're out of a dishwasher, clothes dryer, whatever you need to actually function. So from that perspective, they're completely useless. It’s not worth the effort.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I have no idea that there was an additional process because I thought if I have the Platinum Plan, I got coverage. That was what the people sold when I got my contract. I got denied, and they offered another company to come over. I got a different company that time, but it took three weeks to get any information from them. I never heard anything from American Home Shield or Omega Heating.
After I called Omega three weeks later, they said they were waiting for American Home Shield for an approval. I called American Home Shield and they said they were waiting for Omega to send them a quote. A few minutes later, American Home Shield called me back and told me they got the quote and they got everything approved. That was three weeks later. My husband was so mad, and we hired someone who then came here and he fixed the issue that same day in less than an hour. I felt like a ping pong ball. I'm very disappointed because I was expecting, if I got a Platinum Plan, to get everything. It's not worth it to me to wait three weeks for someone to come over to fix something. I don't have so many claims. When I had a big claim, they closed the door for me.
The contractor from the first company they sent only took five minutes. I requested in the same order to review my other two units, and that guy didn't review anything other than the older unit downstairs. The second guy from Omega Heating was very detailed, and he reviewed everything and took off some parts. They just didn't send me the quote on time.

A repair guy came out in a couple of days, which was quick. However, he was kind of crabby. He kept telling us that we need to stop throwing grease down our sink, and we don't do that. Then he snaked it three times. He kept on saying that a snake only goes 100 feet, which should be just fine. He finally got through it, but he said we're gonna need hydro jetting and he doesn't do that.
I called American Home Shield and told them what happened, and they did refund me the 125 service fee. It came after 7 to 10 days. We had to find another company to help us. I'm very appreciative that they refunded my fee, but as far as the service, it didn't help. In fact, we made a decision to terminate our contract with them.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by your recent experience with our contractor and the resulting need to seek external help. While we're pleased that your service fee was refunded promptly, we understand this is not the complete resolution you were seeking. Your feedback regarding the service contractor's approach is important to us, and we will ensure it is shared with our vendor team to improve future interactions. Should you consider reconsidering or need any assistance in the future, we're here to support you. Thank you for having given us the opportunity to serve you, and we regret any dissatisfaction regarding the termination of your contract as well.

The furnace was installed in November. However, the front of my house still does not warm up. I'm now wondering if the furnace could be fixed. They told me it couldn't be fixed so I paid for a brand new furnace. I ended up paying $4,200 out of my pocket even with the $6,000 that American Home Shield had given. They also told me originally after the installation they were gonna come 10 days after to make sure everything was running okay, but they never called me. I called them and asked them about it. They scheduled an appointment on Monday a week ago which I ended up taking the day off. But they called me on that Monday and said they wouldn't be able to keep their appointment. They rescheduled it. I had to call them because I never got a phone call back. They told me that they would come in today, which they did.
The guy came and looked at everything. He said the furnace is running fine, and that I just need air ducts to help with it. Part of me is now starting to think was the furnace the actual issue or was there something underlying else and they just thought it would be an easy fix by replacing the whole furnace. I think I overpaid significantly for it. The upstairs stays about 5 to 6 degrees lower than the other part of the house. The first floor bedroom that we have stays about 3 to 4 degrees lower. Now I'm thinking that this is gonna be another couple thousand dollars on top of the $4,000 that I've already spent. I am disappointed.
American Home Shield also significantly raised my rates this year. I have two quotes with them - one's my house and the other's my condo. They were able to get the quote for my house down. But for my condo, it almost doubled in price. I'm shopping around right now to see what type of pricing I can get. I told a friend that's looking for a home warranty last week to hold off on American Home Shield for right now and that I would let him know if I find a better deal and possibly switch over. Another thing is I've referred one of my friends, but when I look at my monthly bill, I don't think I got a credit, because I was supposed to get one month for free for that referral.

American Home Shield has beautiful customer service. However, we're talking to people in another country. They try to do the best job they can but we're dealing with too many people and by the time it gets to the right person, it's too late. We need to be dealing with people from the United States so we can work more efficiently and effectively.
When my ovens went out, Home Shield sent out Pacific Coast Air Pacific Coast Air, and they took a report. They never sent it to me, so I never could get ahold of them, because then it had to go through Home Shield. It took a while and I need my oven to cook. I felt it took a little bit longer than it needed to get the resolution. Then they couldn't repair the oven as what the guy told me when he came. I paid $125 for them to come out. I never got an acknowledgement back from Pacific Coast. The gentleman was on time and he was nice, but the follow through wasn't there. When I called the company, they said they still needed some more input, which they never shared with me. Then they said it had to go to the next step, which took a while. So, by the time it did, they did a replacement.
The ovens were almost 20 years old. When they bought these ovens, they were like $10,000. These were good ovens. When Home Shield gave me refund for it, they only gave me an oven that was worth $1,044, and then they told me to make sure that the oven would fit because they won't take it back. I had to pay again for somebody to come out to measure the area, and the oven that they gave me wasn't gonna fit. It took me forever to get back to them. I had to end up buying my own oven. I went in the medium, and it was almost $3,000 with all the installation and then coming out. I have a premium service with Home Shield, but they are only giving me $1,400. I still haven't got refunded, too. If I have a premium warranty, I shouldn't be getting the end of the stick.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We value your feedback and apologize for the challenges you faced. Delays in communication and out-of-pocket expenses for replacements, especially when dealing with high-end ovens, can be frustrating. We're pleased to hear our team was courteous during your interactions, yet we apologize for the cumbersome process. Additionally, we recognize the concern of navigating complex systems with deductibles that complicate warranty payouts. Should you require additional assistance or have unsolved issues, please feel free to reach out directly. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we're committed to enhancing your experience.

My AC was malfunctioning so I called American Home Shield. They sent me Austin Heating and Air. Since they came over, I've been having issues with them. First, they rigged it to make it work. Then they came back and they rigged it again because it gave out again. They sent me an invoice saying that I had to have a new AC put on my roof. It ended up costing me almost 4,000. In that invoice, it said that they were gonna put a new system in, make it work properly, and have a safety inspection done to it. Then I talked to the owner because I was a little bit skeptical about the almost $4,000 that I had to come up with. He gave me his word. It bothers me a lot, saying that he was guaranteeing that he was gonna come and finish everything that was on that list. That never happened. About a week later, my AC shot out again. This was during the summer. I called a few times. I emailed them and I was getting no response.
So, I called American Home Shield. They sent out another company. The AC shot out again. So, we went through it. Now, we're in winter, and they said that they were gonna come back and fix it. I never got an answer from that. My ductwork was really bad. When the AC was working, there were particles coming out of my bathroom and my bedrooms. I called them because my AC shot out again during the winter and nobody was coming through.
I just called a personal AC tech, and I had to pay out of my pocket. He went up there. He said that the wiring up there was so messed up that I was lucky that my house had not caught on fire. He took it apart and rewired it. Until this day, my AC has been working perfectly. Overall, I feel like I got robbed. My family was put at risk. I've been trying to resolve this for a minute. I'm not really getting anywhere with American Shield. I just need to get compensated and get this over and done with. I'm getting ready to switch my home warranty.

My recent claim with AHS involving a broken glass stovetop has been frustrating. We got our repair guy out here. He was supposed to uninstall the broken one and install the new one. He looked for the electrical outlet to do that. Turns out that it was missing a junction box. We were told to call an electrician to get that taken care of. We ended up having to call American Home Shield. But they said they were not gonna pay for any additional modifications. We're trying to go back and forth with American Home Shield. But, we haven't had the stove since Thanksgiving. We're gonna have to get an electrician to come out here and see if they can do it and get the reimbursement for it.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us, and we're sorry for any frustration caused by the handling of your recent claim involving the broken glass stovetop. I submitted a claim with AHS for my washer and it was assigned to Aurora Appliance. The tech came out and he ordered parts for the agitator. He came back, he fixed the agitator, but the spin cycle, he still was waiting word on getting parts to repair the spin cycle as the whole washer was shaking extremely violently. I called American Home Shield, and said, “When is this going to get done?” American Home Shield conveyed to me that Aurora told them that there was no repair needed, that it just made a noise, and that it was a wiring issue. I was never told there was a wiring issue.
After 20 phone calls with American Home Shield over the course of November and into December, I started getting very mad that AHS was not doing what they were supposed to be doing because I pay a monthly fee to have repairs done. I was told that they would send Premier HVAC out. I called AHS back and explained that I did not want another poorly rated vendor. I was told the request would be sent to dispatch, but instead, Aurora was reassigned to my claim again. After yet another refusal from Aurora, I was informed I would need to open a new claim and pay another service fee because Aurora claimed no repair was needed. That was unacceptable. I agreed to let Premier come out and I’m waiting for them to assess the washer.

I had no problem submitting the claim with AHS. I was happy about them getting someone out quickly. Because when I had a claim for my faucet, it took them over almost two months to do that. I had to call another plumbing company out to turn it off, because they couldn't come to at least turn it off because it was leaking. One time, my garage door wasn't working. They repaired that. But it took them a while to come out. I had another garage door people to come out because I needed somebody else to come out quicker and they checked. They told me the motor was not working. At least, I knew that. They showed me how to lock it from the inside. They do not have any people to do service in Warner Robbins. We had a claim for the dishwasher that wasn't washing the dishes. The dishes were greasy and still had dirt on them. They were gross. It was pretty easy to send in the claim online and the contractor that American Home Shield sent out was really great. He was wonderful. He knew right away what was wrong. There was a part of the motor that was not working anymore. He said that that's something that goes wrong on these dishwashers a lot. He put in the order for the part. Then he came back in a week and he fixed it in five minutes. It was so easy. He fixed the dishwasher. It works so good.
I have had no issues with American Home Shield for the last two times that we put in a claim. The only issue we had with American Home Shield was years ago and they did finally fix the issue, but it took forever. It was a hot water heater and we didn't have any hot water and it was so bad. But now, I have had no problem whatsoever putting in the work orders.
When I first put in the claim for tthe refrigerator, it said something about waiting for the new year. But I told them, "No." So I waited a couple of days and I put it in again and they were right out that same day. They were going to come out two days, and then they said, "Well, someone's in town. So we'll just come out now." The refrigerator can't be fixed, and they told me that I have to find the email because they're giving us money to replace it. It was not the whole money for the whole refrigerator, but money towards it. So I'm very happy and I have had no problems whatsoever. Overall, American Home Shield is very prompt and they actually do what they say they're going to do.
Thank you very much for sharing your positive experience! We are thrilled to hear that the services provided were prompt and to your satisfaction, particularly with the dishwasher repair. It's wonderful to know that the technician was knowledgeable and efficient in resolving the issue quickly. Your previous experience with the hot water heater, while slower to resolve, benefitted from our commitment to make things right. We greatly appreciate your trust in American Home Shield over the years and value your feedback on service Speed and effective communication for the repairs, such as with the refrigerator. But when they discovered it needs a total replacement, they said that I had to pay $7000.00 out of pocket. I pay AHS $98.00 a month with copay of $125. So I shouldn't have to pay anymore. It was also taking so long. We are senior citizens, one of us has advanced cancer, and we have been without heat for 2 weeks. I've been calling everyday. And they keep telling me my claim will be processed in the order it was received. I explained the circumstances but they keep telling me it should be processed within 48 hrs. They've said that everyday this week. But still nothing.
After 2 trips to the emergency room, I called another company and had my new system installed within 24hr. I had to pay $15k out of pocket. STILL AHS won't even tell me how much they're going to give me towards a cash out. And then when I try to talk to someone to complain they say they can only give me the customer service number, which is the same number I've been calling. Went to website. Couldn't get ahold of anyone through that. So now I'm on this website just trying to be heard.

Absolutely horrible and unacceptable service. American Home Shield sent Sears to repair my refrigerator. During the initial visit, the Sears technician informed me directly that they do not perform the type of repair needed for my refrigerator. Based on that information, I immediately contacted American Home Shield to request a different contractor.
I was told that assigning another contractor was not possible because a follow-up appointment had already been scheduled. American Home Shield then contacted Sears, who claimed that parts needed to be ordered to complete the repair. This was extremely confusing, as it directly contradicted what the technician told me during the initial visit.
I was then scheduled for a second appointment with an arrival window of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which required me to take an entire day off work. Throughout that day, I received multiple notifications stating the technician’s expected arrival time was being pushed back. At the very end of the day, I received a notification that the technician would not be coming at all. An entire day was wasted.
I called American Home Shield again and spent several hours on the phone, only to be told the issue was escalated and another appointment date would be scheduled. I again requested a different vendor and was told that was not possible. Unfortunately, the exact same situation occurred again on the next scheduled date. I waited all day, received delayed arrival updates, and once again the technician never showed up.
Now, after being without a refrigerator for nearly a month, American Home Shield is asking to schedule yet another appointment with the same contractor who has already failed to resolve the issue twice. This is completely unacceptable. I have lost multiple days of work, spent hours on the phone, and still do not have a functioning refrigerator. At this point, I see no other option but to escalate this matter further, including filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This entire experience reflects a serious lack of accountability, communication, and customer care.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with American Home Shield and would not recommend this company to anyone. Their customer service is poor, with little to no follow-up and a complete lack of clear or reliable timelines once a service request is submitted. Communication is vague at best, leaving customers guessing about next steps and resolution. Another major issue is their apparent lack of service partners. It routinely took two or more days just to assign a contractor, even when the issue was urgent. This delay is unacceptable, especially for a company that advertises peace of mind and protection.
Most concerning, I experienced two emergency situations where timely response was critical, and American Home Shield failed to act with any sense of urgency. These delays only added stress and risk, defeating the entire purpose of having a home warranty in the first place. Overall, this company does not deliver on its promises. Between slow response times, poor communication, and inadequate emergency support, my experience was frustrating and costly. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for reliable home warranty coverage.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Shawn. We’re very sorry to hear that the process did not meet your expectations. American Home Shield is a SCAM. Do not believe for one moment the monthly fee quoted on line. They say a certain price to sucker you in and once they get your credit card information they hit it with 12 times that amount they quoted. In my case the charge went from $25.00 to $300.00 And when you need a service call you get a recording with all the stuff they don't cover. Also they don't have a live person for customer service. All they have is some recording instructing you to put in a credit card for payment. Example I signed up for a 25 dollar a month plan. It was actually a "promotion" they were running and I believed I got the "Gold" package.
I had to wait until the month ended to begin my coverage. I got an email that they could not process my payment and to give them an updated card. Well thank God I did not do that because I thought they would have debited $25.00 as a monthly fee but in actuality they were charging me $300.00 and I had made no claims because the policy was not in effect until the 30 day window. I never agreed to pay them $300.00. And also for all service calls there is a deductible of over a $100.00. You are better off just finding a trusted plumber, heating mechanic or appliance repair person. And you should also always get warranties on any appliance.
On the recording they have when talking about what they won't cover they immediately say call a plumber or contact your home insurance provider and file a claim. Why does a person need American Home Shield when you still have to go out of pocket for repairs? To protect myself I called my bank and had my card cancelled. I then went into my local bank to get a new debit card issue and requested a Visa "Updator" to prevent them from debiting the unauthorized $300.00 out of my account. Make sure if you cancel your card when you go into the bank tell them to Turn Off your previous card called (Updator) otherwise American Home Shield can still make the deduction out of your new card. Scammers!!!!
Hello Sharrieff. Thank you for the feedback.
While I understand your frustration with the situation as you describe it, AHS is certainly not a scam. We make it clear in our promotional offers that they ARE promotions, and that the regular pricing will be applied after the promotional period ends. If customers feel that the warranty is not worth the regular price, they are free to cancel before the regular pricing period begins.
AHS does not hide the fact that there is a service fee for each work order. These fees are the cost of the diagnosis from the licensed, ensured technician in our network. All of our service pricing and contract details are readily available in our sample contracts, and can be viewed online at https://www.ahs.com/contracts/. This allows buyers to see the coverage and pricing before they sign up for any plan.
You are correct when you state that homeowners should also try to get a manufacturer's warranty on any appliance or system. However, these warranties expire relatively quickly when compared to the total lifetime of a home. A home warranty plan offers peace of mind and coverage protection for appliances and systems which are outside the coverage dates of the manufacturer.
In reference to the denials of coverage, please be aware that all contract plans have circumstances that will not be covered; if everything was always covered, no one would ever need to offer a contract describing terms. That is not singular to AHS. In the event that a denial is issued, our authorizations team explains why the coverage was denied, and they offer alternative courses of action as the situation warrants. This can include the option for a second opinion from another vendor.
Finally : if a member ever decides to cancel their contract, their banking information is removed from our system. There is no need to cancel bank cards, as we will act in harmony with privacy regulations in order to protect customer financial privacy.
I was not able to locate any account for you within our system. If you still have concerns, please reach out to us directly via socialmedia@ahs.com. We will be glad to answer your concerns.

In other words, recently released convicts that reek of cigarettes and don’t know their ** from their elbows. Company: American Home Shield. Issue: Failure to repair or replace covered appliance within a reasonable timeframe. We have an active home warranty policy with American Home Shield that includes appliance coverage. Our refrigerator failed and is a covered item under the policy. The contract requires repair or replacement within a “reasonable amount of time.”
We have been without a working refrigerator for over three weeks as of Christmas. We were informed the required repair part will not be available for an additional three to four months. Despite this delay, American Home Shield refuses to replace the unit, forcing a family of four to go without a refrigerator for four to five months, which is unreasonable for an essential appliance.
American Home Shield offered only $150 toward renting a refrigerator, which does not cover months of rental, or $450 for the part, which is far below replacement cost. This would be the third repair attempt. The first two attempts failed, and there is no assurance this repair will resolve the issue. American Home Shield accepted payment but refuses to resolve the claim within a reasonable timeframe, appearing to violate the contract. During a call with an escalation supervisor on 12/31/25, the supervisor was unprofessional and disconnected the call.

American Home Shield is a total SCAM. There is no place to leave zero stars or Negative 10 stars. They charge you $1000 a year and then deny all claims you file and charge YOU for sending out warranty workers that have no idea what they are doing to try and diagnose very simple problems. Then because these sub-par techs can't fix your problems you end up with MORE repairs cuz they wrecked something else in the process of trying to fix the first problem (even though the first problem never actually got fixed) and NONE of the repairs are actually covered because of the very small print in the contract that says they are just scamming you.
But you don't find out this warranty repair (and any other warranty repair ever conceived) isn't covered until everything is done and they deny your claim. then they send you a bill for Collections if you don't pay the cost to FILE a claim with them (EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING BUT RATHER SENT OUT SUB-PAR WORKERS AND MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE). What a scam. How are these people still in Business? DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! TOTAL SCAM.

After paying monthly and paying for service calls American Home shield is definitely not worth what I put in! The last service call was the worst! My hot water heater went out so I put in a request for service. After they diagnosed the issue they determined I needed a new water heater and it would cost $3000. American Home shield denied it because of age and wear and tear. It was 8 years old. I am on a very tight budget so a friend of mine whose husband has plumbing experience offered to help. I ended up paying $600 for the water heater and $50 for him to install. Where did this shady plumbing company come up with this pricing? I know they charge quite a bit for the time to install, but where did they come up with $3000?
Then the final straw was after being called numerous times to schedule them to come fix the issue I was berated and threatened by the plumbing company. I was told “I hope your house doesn’t burn down since we didn’t do the work” and if someone from the city came I would be in trouble if the person didn’t install it properly. They also contacted the water utility and reported that my water pressure was too high, so I now have to install a part on my meter that cost $600 plus whatever the time to install costs. Bottom line, I canceled my warranty. Any company that would contract with a shady company like the one they sent has no morals and isn’t looking out for their customers.

We canceled a claim earlier because we thought the refrigerator was starting to work better. But it went back out so I put a new request in for service and Sears is coming out tomorrow. Whenever I file a claim with American Home Shield, I find it odd that I submit the make, model, and serial numbers when I ask for the service. Then I'll get asked for those again by the service company. Sears has asked me for it twice on this particular claim. I'm not sure why it's not better communicated from the beginning. It's not a real pain to answer it, but I've gotten several requests for the same information.
What I like best about American Home Shield is that they take my order easily online. They're reasonably quick on appliances and things that are not urgent so I'm altogether pretty happy with that. The thing that needs improving is things like HVAC work. When I've had air conditioner problems, the experience has not been very good. The summer before this last one, we needed service but it took us weeks to get it done. When it's 100 degrees outside, you need something a little faster. However, American Home Shield had trouble finding a vendor to work with them. We ended up eventually finding our own vendor then American Home Shield paid them.
I had needed work on a hot water heater and it took quite a while to get that done as well. It looked like it was about to bust out on the seams but it took American Home Shield quite a while to find somebody that would do that. I was very concerned I was gonna have a major mess all over my basement before they found somebody. Other than those, I have told friends of mine that don't have a home warranty program that they ought to look at American Home Shield because it's been valuable to me. I've also heard from contractors I've used that American Home Shield is the best they work with and that they find them to be the best for the customer.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. It’s wonderful to hear that your overall experience with American Home Shield has been positive, particularly with appliance repairs. We apologize for any frustration you faced with service regarding HVAC and urgent appointments. Ensuring quicker turnarounds during urgent situations is a crucial commitment. American Home Shield may not be worth the spend, but it might be. It's possible. We've been there two years. We decided to quit because the amount that we were gonna have to pay to replace the heat pump was too high. The heat pump had gone out and we took a cashout, which was $300-something, instead of having anything fixed. Since the heat pump was bad, an option was to replace the heat pump, including the gas for that new heat pump, new Freon-type stuff. But the contractor was very competent and nice. I've actually been pleased with all the service people that have come out for American Home Shield.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We’re pleased to hear that you found the process easy and that the contractor met your expectations. Some of them do not give proper diagnosis on the job, which sometimes leads me to get declined. That really pisses me off at times. The latest work order that I put in about a month ago is still not resolved. The one before that, the plumber gave the wrong diagnosis, and the claim was declined. It cost me $650 out of pocket. The last couple of contractors wasn't up to par. I'm hoping for the best right now. I've been with Home Shield for more than 20 years and I have four properties insured with them right now, which leads me to about nine different units.
American Home Shield's customer service is good. Sometimes with some of them, the language barrier is off but at the end, they still try their best. They're okay in trying to find the right contractors, but they're not okay in terms of getting the right contractors. Sometimes these owners act as if they don't care. They get out of control in terms of how they speak to people.

The AC motor that spins and pushes air out broke. That was the diagnosis Summer Breeze gave us. We had to call them several times because they were not telling the truth about the scheduling. One minute they say they're on their way out, and then the next minute they say they’re not. There were several calls over the course of a month before our issue was finally resolved. So that is something that we find very unappealing.
There was one other claim we put in for plumbing. The first plumbing company AHS sent out came out three times. They never really got the issue resolved. They told us that our toilet seat was broken. I refuted that claim and asked AHS to send out different plumber for a second look.
The second plumber came in and did his magic. He didn't say that our toilet was bad, and whatever he did seems to have resolved the issue. It's been two weeks since and we haven't had any backup with that toilet.
American Home Shield have a little bit of work to do with the quality of technicians. We've already made them aware of our concern and dissatisfaction on several occasions.
Thank you for bringing your recent experience to our attention. I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you encountered with the contractors coordinated through our service. Particularly, the delays with Summer Breeze and difficulties with securing dependable plumbing services should have been managed better on our part.
Your satisfaction is vital, and we hope to serve you much better in all future interactions. If there's anything ongoing in which we are predicted to assist further, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Submitting the claim with American Home Shield was very easy. However, I wasn't thrilled with the tech. When he got here, he said he only takes cash, checks, or Venmo. He would also take PayPal or Zelle. I don't even know what Zelle is. He would not take a credit card. This large, sweaty man, saw the broken garage door spring, went to his truck, and installed two different springs. One didn't match. He had a hard time lifting the garage door and had me come in and help him do that. If you're running a business involving lifting heavy garage doors, you have an assistant. I got to do labor and didn't get paid for it. I did this a couple of times during the whole thing. At the end, he wouldn't give me my garage door clicker until I paid him. We will not use him again.
American Home Shield raised our rates recently and it was an unnecessarily large amount of money. We briefly canceled the service because of that, and we came back. It didn't make any sense. When it comes to what's going on in the country with the tariffs, everyone charges more for this and that. A service-oriented industry such as AHS doesn't merit having the tariffs affected. But that's the only gripe we had.
Based on the old $75 co-pay, if my stove broke, I can go out and buy a new one for $100, or if I'm covered under AHS, pay my $75, and they come and put another stove in. That's what we did originally. We had an electric stove here, which the coils were not even, and it was very dangerous because the pot would slide off of the burner onto the floor. So, we picked up another stove after AHs helped us. We brag about the services we got. That's how we sell the service.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and for being a long-time American Home Shield member. It's great to hear that the convenience of our online claim submission has been seamless for you from the start.
I apologize for your disappointment with the Quick Fix Garage Doors experience, as professional service is a key expectation. It’s concerning to hear about the payment limitations and having to assist with work, which should not have been the case. While we're happy to know your experience over the years has been mostly positive, particularly with appliance replacements, we're keen to address your concern regarding vendor quality and any unresolved disputes about rising service rates.

A tech did a heat tune-up. He provided a recommendation to change and May Heating & Air came and fixed it. They called me on the day of the service and notified me that they would reach me in the next hour. They also told me what they did in detail. The experience depends on who you are engaging the service with. If that service provider is good, American Home Shield is also good. If the service provider is not good, AHS is not because they recommend these services. They should always refer someone who has good experience with handling this. The guy who came for the tune-up did not check much in detail. But May Heating was good.
We truly appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear that your experience with May Heating & Air was positive and efficient. I called American Home Shield to file a claim for my air conditioner/heater combo. I spoke with a cool representative. It took about a week for someone to come out for the initial visit. We had the brand-new unit installed through Austin Heating back in May and then, just a few months later, it went out. AHS used a different company to fix it and then they couldn't fix it right away. It took a whole month to fix it. The repairman went up there, and he said, "I can't fix it. I need another part. I'm gonna come back. I'm gonna order it." I couldn't understand him very much, but I knew what he was talking about. Since the repair, there was a humming noise coming out when the heater turns on. I didn't have that before.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for your longstanding trust in us. While we're pleased you've had a generally positive experience over ten years with us, we sincerely apologize for the recent delays and inconveniences with your new air conditioning unit's repair. We understand how waiting for service and dealing with language barriers can be frustrating, especially when you've had such mixed results in the past.

American Home Shield sent AirMax Heating and Cooling out after I did a claim for my furnace that wasn't working. It took two days for the tech to come out. It was quick. He was able to fix the issue the first time, and it was working, but then it stopped again. I contacted American Home Shield again, and the same guy was sent. He was great, but the interaction with AirMax to get them there was challenging. They would tell American Home Shield that they had called me multiple times and they had never called me. It took a month for the furnace to be fully fixed. I could make it run, but the tech was like, "You are gonna get electrocuted doing what you're doing."
The tech had to come three times. When he came to my house the second time, he was like, "I don't know why I'm here. I put a note in that said, if you call back, to make sure we ordered the part because we know what we have to do. This is a wasted trip." He came back within two days and it took him less than 10 minutes to fix the issue. AirMax just hadn't contacted me. They could have just said that they missed the order, but they were trying to say I wasn't responsive to them while I was just waiting for them to contact me. As far as American Home Shield, they did fine. They were calling me every day telling me what was supposed to happen.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're delighted to hear that the initial claim process and our regular follow-ups were beneficial. We acknowledge the inconvenience the contractor's part delays caused, which certainly fell short of our standards. Your feedback is a crucial element for us. I spoke with an American Home Shield representative and they had a company come out in about 2 weeks to examine the refrigerator to let me know that it was not going to be fixable. Then American Home Shield contacted me and said they would be replacing the refrigerator. They told me they were gonna send me money or I would go out and pick a refrigerator then they'd send me the money for that. I could have the people come and install it, which is what happened. Everything was good. I understand they had to try to repair the refrigerator but when that didn't work, they told me they were gonna get me a new refrigerator. The process was fairly timely. The only thing was when they initially fixed the refrigerator, it went completely out and the compressor was gone two weeks later. I had to throw away a lot of food that was in the refrigerator.

I had a technician come out and he had to replace some parts for the ice maker. It lasted for a little while and then it started back freezing over. I had to start using my blow dryer again to unthaw it so it could make ice and that's nuisance having to do all that. So he came back out and he unthawed it and he did something else and it's doing good now. Plus, he showed me how to make it stop making ice because the ice piling up in the tray caused it to freeze over too. So I know how to make it stop using ice until I can use what's in the bin. Everything went well. The technician was real friendly and he got it back working like it should.
I've been with American Home Shield for a while and I never had any problems. Plus, I'm on a fixed income and they got my payments down to where I can handle it. I talked to them before about letting the policy go and they lowered my payments so I was able to keep them. I understand that I have to pay the $100 for someone to come out. The only thing I didn't like one time was when I was dealing with my washing machine. I had to turn the child lock thing on some kind of way and I didn't know it. It only took the technician five minutes to undo it and I felt like that $100 was a waste when someone could've told me over the phone how to do it.

In case of any heavy outage with a major appliance, it's good to have coverage like American Home Shield. My mother has coverage through them. I replaced my HVAC earlier this year. It had an old, dilapidated system. I was eventually replaced for a large sum of money. I figured if another appliance like my refrigerator went out, I would want as much coverage as possible.
I wanted a maintenance checkup on the system but it ended up being a complicated process where the contractor did not end up doing maintenance. They said they couldn't do it because there was nothing wrong with the system reported. The contractor said it had to be an emergency thing where it wasn't working. I called back to American Home Shield and they said I have a 30-day notice to see If there was any emergency. Otherwise, the charge of $125 still took. There should be more notice reiterating that I'm not allowed for just general maintenance checkup. It has to be an emergency checkup. I had one plumber come out. I thought the flow of the toilet wasn't working well and the plumber said there was nothing wrong. Maybe what I could do better is not overreact to the difference between general maintenance and emergency.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We recognize how valuable clear communication is, especially concerning what constitutes emergency coverage versus routine maintenance. We apologize for any confusion and for the inconvenience of the associated fee. Your trust in American Home Shield matters greatly, and we're truly grateful that you find peace of mind with our plan's coverage for unexpected appliance issues. Fire and Ice Heating did a maintenance check to make sure the system was okay for heating. The tech did his job, and everything is functioning okay. While American Home Shield’s service providers have been good, I would appreciate one that is local to my community. All the service providers that come through American Shield do not have a team here in Tuscaloosa, even though there are several plumbing companies here. AHS's service providers all have to travel over an hour to get here because they're based somewhere else. If there’s an emergency, that can be an issue.
Right now, I have a plumbing claim, and the technician was supposed to come today between 12 and 5. But the technician is sick, which I understand, and the repair must be rescheduled. The problem is that I’m traveling, so now I have to wait until the 8th. There’s no one else available to take his place, and this company is coming from over an hour away. My concern is more about who AHS contracts with.

I told them I don't have a garage door opener and they didn't want to provide one without a fee.
I pay for the more expensive plan, which covers more, but I just think the deductible is too high. I don't really wanna use it because I'm already paying $100 a month and another's $125 whenever something happens. I think the monthly amount that I'm paying should be lower. I had a leaking sink that I couldn’t use, and it took American Home Shield almost three weeks to get someone out here to fix it. The first contractor used a snake for the shower and claimed there was grease in the pipes, and I had to pay $800 to hydro jet it. Then the tech said he would do it for $500 if I paid cash on that day, and I said no. I called AHS back and argued with them. I wasted two days with 20 calls back and forth. Eventually, American Home Shield sent Emergency Plumbing and the tech was able to fix it after five minutes of snaking it. So, that was good. That was the only time got something fixed from American Home Shield. Every time the techs come, I get the walkaround and the runaround, saying that they're not gonna fix what's broken.
I submit claims by phone but every time I call, I get agents from overseas and there’s a language barrier. They’re not courteous and a lot of the time, we’re left to figure things out on our own. It comes down to whatever their technician says. If the tech says no, then they’re not going to do it. If I want a second opinion, I have to pay for it myself.
I paid to get something fixed, and I got lies to my face several times. When I had an issue with my toilet upstairs, AHS sent out a company called Alpha Plumbing. My toilet was loose and the repair guy said it needed to be replaced. So, he took my toilet off, called American Home Shield and told me it was not covered because I didn't have an O-ring on my toilet. But there's one. He lied to American Home Shield and they won't warranty the toilet. But if I was willing to pay him $400 on that day, I would get a new toilet. So, it's not only American Home Shield. It's the contractors they use, too. They're shady.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you’ve faced. Dealing with facility issues within your home is concerning enough on its own, and we're sorry that the customer aspect added to your stress. Timely, effective, and informed service is our goal, and the delays and incorrect initial assessments are genuinely unacceptable.
We value your feedback about the communication struggles and lack of support offered by our team.

I've done two claims with American Home Shield. The first one I did was for my garage and it took a month for them to get somebody out there so that didn’t make me happy but I kept it. The next time, I called for my ice cube maker which wasn't working, and they came quickly.
Filing a claim was simple because I could figure out quickly that nobody was going to be able to help me. The garage door people were fine, but they tried to upsell me and the icemaker tech that sent out was very no-nonsense. He did his job and left.
I was going to use them again for a drain but I couldn't book anyone until Monday because they didn't work with anyone who would come over the weekend. It’s not efficient. When I went to cancel, it was a hassle. I can't do it online. You have to call during their hours which I work so I had to get up early one day and do it. The person I talked to couldn't cancel me. She had to send me to some other department. She really tried to get me to stay, lower my price, the next job was free.
It took me 15 minutes to say I didn’t want this anymore. I did not like at all. I had tried to cancel a year before but they talked me out of it. This time, it was hands down the hardest thing I've ever had to cancel. They always raise my price every year but it wasn't worth my time or my money.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I understand your concerns regarding the inconsistency and challenges you've experienced with our service, from delayed technician appointments to issues scheduling certain repairs. We strive to provide prompt and efficient services, so it is disappointing to hear your experiences varied significantly between repairs. Additionally, I apologize for any confusion when explaining our pricing – annual renewals should provide clear value, yet your feedback indicates room for improvement there.
It's great to hear that your experience submitting claims via the app was seamless, yet I'm sorry the cancellation process could have been better. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I had a toilet issue and American Home Shield sent out 5 Point Plumbing for the repair. They came out within 24 hours of me filing the claim and my plumbing issue was fixed to my satisfaction. While everything has been going well since the repair, my experience with American Home Shield is a 2 out of 5. It covers hardly anything.

American Home Shield's response time is fairly decent. We had one issue one time. They came out, they looked at the washer, and they said it needed a whole bunch of parts. And then, one person told me over the phone that they were gonna replace the washer. The other person said that they were gonna fix it. It took them six weeks to decide before we got our washer fixed. But other than that, it's been pretty good.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. It's wonderful to hear that you generally find our customer service satisfactory and experience prompt responses with your claims. We apologize for the delay you encountered with your washer incident, and we understand how important a timely resolution is. Your feedback is valuable to us. I call and talk to American Home Shield. The contractor came out and worked on my washing machine. They said I needed a part and they had to order it. They ordered the part and they came out. They put that part in. It didn't work. The unit still did the same thing. They ordered another one and they came out two days later. They put another part in and the unit worked. I told several people about AHS. I got three to sign up.

I had a plumbing claim and an electrical claim on the 23rd, right before Christmas. That was a very positive one. It was just a simple solution, but I filed the claim the same day that repairman was able to come out. He said he was in the area and would be here in a few minutes. He was very helpful, and I appreciated that. He told me that the hot water heater did not need a repair. I had been told by a couple of plumbers who had done some contracting work that a new a retaining tank might be needed. But he told me it didn't need it yet. He was honest and I appreciated that integrity. You don't have it often. Most people wanna make the money.
Filing a claim with American Home Shield hasn't been a problem at all. I just go online, access my account and request for service. It has a little algorithm of what the issue is, such as electrical or plumbing, and it seems to pop up with the contractor right away. I often call them before they call me as it's easier to schedule an appointment that way.
I've maintained having American Home Shield for going on 20 years. It was on the house when I bought it in 2006. At that point, I didn't know how long I would live in the house, but I knew to maintain a warranty because that would make the house more desirable in a sale. American Home Shield has been a great warranty. Most years than not, it pays for itself. I also have had the good fortune of meeting some good contractors who've done some non-warranty work in my house. That helps, too. The contractors American Home Shield sends are professional ones. They call when they are on their way and are here at the time of the repairs. Before the pandemic, I may have had trouble with one or two contractors. But other than that, they know what they're doing. They're helpful, polite, and clean. There have been glitches here and there, but overall, it's been a very streamlined process working with American Home Shield

I had a problem with my washing machine and two different companies came out. For the first company, it took one week to send somebody to inspect the machine. This company was the worst ever and they didn’t do anything. Their technician was not a professional and he didn't know what he was doing. He checked the machine and he saw the problem. I was told they were gonna order a part and they would be back to fix the washing machine. I was given 10 days to be sent the part.
When the technician left, he lied to his manager. He told him there was nothing wrong with the machine. They sent an email and they declined the service. When I called the contractor to complain about his employee, she told me, “Send me a video.” I sent her the video for the machine. She told me I was right. I still have the message from her when she said their employee made a mistake when he lied saying there was no problem with the machine. American Home Shield has to know who to recommend to send. I read the review for the first company and nobody was happy with it.
We called American Home Shield and I didn't talk to a person. There was a machine. They sent me a different company for a second opinion. The company responded in less than 24 hours. They came and found the same problem. In a few days, the part was sent and they set an appointment again. They came and they fixed the washing machine. It was good service.

My washer was on the blink. A young guy from Foster came out and he had to go get some parts, and he came back and fixed it. I had to replace some other parts that were old in it. I thought it was a little pricey, but it's better than going out and buying a new unit. The young man was extremely approachable. It was a good experience with him.
As far as American Home Shield, I've been paying for them for a while, and I have never used them before. I thought I was just throwing my money away. I pay them a monthly fee, but I have to pay money upfront for somebody to come out. I guess that's just the way the business operates. If anything else happens again, I'll definitely use them again. I was satisfied with them and I'd recommend them to a friend.

I've been with American Home Shield for the past five years. As of late, their customer service has been exceptional. Starting out, the company we received the service from didn't fix the problem. But overall, it's been okay. The timeframe from the time I submit a claim to the time that the technicians come out is contingent on what the problem is and availability. So, sometimes it's a long time, and sometimes it isn't. The last couple of technicians have been great. Overall, American Home Shield should be sure that the customer is updated as to exactly what's going on upfront before assessing cost.

The vast majority of the time, there is no issue with the individual agent or a customer service rep when I call. Even when I've had a concern, it wasn't the individual's fault. My microwave oven's open latch was not functioning properly. The contractor came out and replaced it. The appointment was set within 24 hours or later the same day. It was very quick. All Brands has been to my home a number of times. So, it was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction, and still working. However, a few years back, in November, I called in a report for a problem with my washing machine, and it wasn't until April of the next year when it got resolved.
I was unhappy to think that after three calls, techs coming out, and they're replacing this, replacing that, and it kept going on. Finally, American Home Shield junked the washing machine, and I got a new one. But I was very unhappy that they kept going back. They suggested that, "If you do get a second opinion, then you'll have to pay for that." I pay them too much money in my annual premium, and $100 a call for them to tell me that to get a second person out here, I would have to pay for when they are the ones who send the doggone companies.
I didn't have to pay any money for the machine and for the second company to come out. But I was disappointed because of this, not that the agent was doing anything wrong. They're doing what they're trained to do. Whether what they're trying to do pleases the client or customer is another story. But the one woman said to me, "This one is really our best company to come." I felt badly to think, "Why in the hell didn't you send your best company the first time around?" When she went on to say that the first company they sent had limited capacity compared to the company that they're now sending out.
They felt that company was sufficient for the job, but it wasn't. And to think that they would charge me after not sending their A team, I don't think so. I did not call them on any accounts for so long, not that it hurt them, because they get my monthly premium, and it's no lost revenue to them, but I was that unhappy that I wasn't comfortable to think they're gonna send out the best that they have. I got past it.
I pay $700 a year. When I think about that, and if I have four calls in the year, it's another, $400 max. 1,100 bucks. When I look at what I can get with other vendors that I've used over time, I'm now of the mind that I'm not persuaded that I need to pay this kind of money annually for services that I need. I have up to $4,000 allowance on appliances and something about coolant. But I'm not convinced that it is worth it now because of some of the packages I can get with the plumbing and electrical company that I used before AHS. We bought a new AC a few years ago, and they have some arrangements. I partner with AHS that you all come out once a year for my HVAC cleaning. I have a little thing with the company who manufactured the system, where they come once a year.
I get the cleaning twice a year, and I'm happy. But I'm not sure that I need to keep a $700 a year relationship with AHS to accomplish that when it costs me so much less to get one cleaning from the other place complimentary. Well, it isn't complimentary. I pay for it. But because of the HVAC with AHS, that twice a year was nice. But their plan to give me twice a year cleaning is way less than the 700 I pay to have the partnership that gets me to.
I'm not sure I'm gonna renew, but not because I'm unhappy or angry at AHS, it's just when I look at the numbers, persuaded that it's going to be to my economic advantage. And now that I'm a widower, there's less income stream. I don't know that I can afford to easily keep paying the $700 plus $100 a hit. It's not working for me as well numerically, but it can be a very good thing for people who aren't in the circumstance that I am.
Warm regards,
Marc N.

I had to call the city of Wyoming and the contractor who installed my furnace because they didn't do it right and they didn't get an inspection. The plumber who looked at my water heater said that American Home Shield won’t pay them because it relit. When I called and told the lady my water heater was going out and I had to keep relighting it, she still sent them out there. They took the money. She said, “What we can do is we can send another company out there. And if it's the same diagnosis, you'll have to pay again. But if it's not, then we'll fix it.” How is that gonna be the same diagnosis? It still goes out. I relight it.
I am not happy with the company at all, and I've been with them for 10 years. As soon as my contract's up, I'm dropping them because they have turned into a scamming company. Five years ago, they were excellent. I had 10 people who signed up for the company over the last couple of years. Now they're not the same company. I will tell people not to use them. Even the companies they use are crap now. They don't even pull inspections. Once they found out an inspector was coming, they came out again because they said they had to fix things before the inspector comes.

The experience with NexGen was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend them to anybody. The technician that came out was knowledgeable and professional. He was able to assess what was wrong, quickly order the part and come back in a timely manner to get it resolved. Making my appointment online or putting my service request online is perfect. But ever since American Home Shield moved their contact centers offshore, it has been a horrible experience if I have to call them. They have people who don't speak English as their first language. They have not lot of understanding. I can tell they read off a cue card. I try to use online as much as possible to not have to talk to them.
I had to have something reassigned to NexGen because the repair company that they auto assigned couldn't get me in for over a week. When I called to have it changed, I had to go through multiple escalations and it's ridiculous. The only reason why I stay with American Home Shield even with it offshore is they're one of the most reputable companies and I know I'm not going to have my premium go to nothing like I had when I left them one other time and went to a smaller company and they went belly up. I had paid all in full. I was out the money.

I got a separate claim with my dishwasher. I wanted to put the sink faucet with it, but I still had to pay American Home Shield twice. The contractor found the leak, but they had to go and come back another time. The jury is still out on the dishwasher too. The technician said there's something going on with the panel and it has to be replaced. He said that's common. He's supposed to be bringing it back. So, I don't wanna pre-judge it.

My garage door was making a strange popping noise. I didn't know if it was secure, so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The process was easy, but I'm not really excited about what they covered. I had to pay out of pocket for the repairs that ended up getting done. The technician replaced the wheels. He made an adjustment. It's still making the noise that had concerned me. I need to call them back and tell them to come back out and take a look. It's just that the stuff that was replaced was out of pocket. I have the impression and the expectation that my home warranty will cover for whatever reason I'm calling about. Then there's the fine writing that says they do not cover something.
Coincidentally, there was another garage repair company in the neighborhood, and I had him come over. He wasn't gonna touch it because he wanted to make sure that he didn't null and void any warranty work that this garage company did. I did the same thing with him. I just opened and closed the door a couple of times. His recommendation is to call the tech back and tell him to do a reset on it.
