My dryer wasn't drying. I made a claim with American Home Shield and the first technician who came out said that he had to reschedule because he had to order the parts. But I was told that when I get the parts that the next technician would put them in. On the second schedule, it was a lady who called and told me that she would be at my house. She said she was about 15 minutes away, but then she never showed. When I got back online to check to see what was going on, she rescheduled saying that she had to order a part, that she came to assess my dryer and it was working properly, but she still needed to order a part. But she never came to my house, so how did she know that I didn't have a part already? And when you order a part from Sears like my first technician did, I had to sign the part slip for him to order the part. So, that meant she forged my signature on that to order the part.
Then, when the third technician came out, he kept bouncing back and forth that I was the next stop. That went on all day and in the end, he never came and rescheduled. Every time they said they would come, I had to take the day off from work, so I was losing money. Then, the fourth guy came and at the time, I was at work. But he was able to fix the problem. I don't understand how American Home Shield works with a company like that because I couldn't get in touch with them in any away. That was crazy. I got on Sear's website and gave them a bad review. American Home Shield should not deal with them.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

There were two things going on with my dryer. One was the heating element and there was another part. American Home Shield sent a tech from Sears and he was able to address the problem. He ordered the part and within two days, he had it. Then he came back the same week and fixed it. He was very professional. He really wanted to make sure that the appliance was fixed and understood that I needed it. American Home Shield is very responsive and I've had a good experience with them. I've had other things done through them as well and I've never had a problem. I'm happy with the service.
Dear Ruby,
Thank you for the 5-star review regarding your customer service experience. Providing timely repairs completed by knowledgeable and friendly service professionals is exactly what we strive to do, and we are happy to hear how pleased you are with the level of service and support you received.

Poletski's Appliance came out twice. The first time they came out, they looked at a cooktop. The tech was extremely thorough. He said it was just older. It works and it’s fine. The second time they came out was for my oven. You couldn't set the heat. He actually turned it on as best he could and then he stuck a thermometer in there and he said, “It does heat up." I said, “But there's no dial to tell you where you're setting it." He said they don’t make them any more and the size is the problem, too. The tech said I needed a replacement. A couple of days later, I got ahold of American Home Shield and then they said, “Give us a couple of days." Then, that all went good. They were very responsive. They told me what I needed to do and they offered me a specific oven. But American Home Shield went ahead and cut me a check because they couldn't order one and then Poletski's couldn't order one, as well.

The roof had a little bit of wood rot that allowed water to come through and damage our ceiling in our daughter's bathroom. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, then the tech they sent out was able to fix that and take care of everything for us. He didn't have all the materials on his first visit, but he came by the next day and finished the job. So on the first day, he patched up some areas and caulked it so the water didn't get through. Then he can replaced the piece of wood on the area and fixed everything. His name was Jarrett and he did an amazing job. His company did what they said they were going to do, explained everything, and provided updates on the repair.
So far, I'm pleased with everything that American Home Shield has done. This is the second time I've been with them. The first time was for my first home and they also provided a great service there. If something would go wrong with the vendor that they assigned to us, they would get a new vendor in place to get the job done and make sure everything was done correctly.
Dear Oscar,
Thank you so much for the 5-star rating regarding your customer service experience with American Home Shield! Cooks Heating & Air came out for our AC. The wires had fallen down and gotten in the fan blade. The tech was really good. He was better than the people that replaced my furnace. I also got very little contribution from American Home Shield on the furnace that was replaced. They paid very little. It cost me a lot.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We truly appreciate your positive remarks about Cook’s Heating and Air technician handling your AC issue professionally. It’s encouraging to hear that they surpassed previous experiences.

We've always had a good experience with American Home Shield. They've made referrals to the company that was needed in a timely manner and the work that we've needed done has been done professionally. Initially, I always submitted claims online. But for this plumbing job, I called the number and they had a robo secretary take the information and it was done just as quickly. We had two faucets for the contractor to look at. One was a shower head that continually dripped and there was a loose kitchen faucet. They had to come back. In order to replace what was needed for the shower head, we had to cut out some additional tile because they couldn't get to what they needed. The new shower handle completely covered the hole, yeah. For the kitchen faucet, they had to order a part.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that American Home Shield has consistently been able to deliver great service and connect you with reliable professionals like Patriot Plumbing. Your detailed insights into the smooth resolution of your plumbing issues are invaluable, and we're grateful for your recommendation. The first people that American Home Shield sent out fixed something in my refrigerator that didn't need to be fixed, and I still had a problem. I had to call them back. They supposedly ordered a part. It took them a year to fix the damn thing. They never came. So I complained to American Home Shield and after three complaint calls, they got me Creative Connection, who fixed my problem for now. They fixed my refrigerator perfectly and on time. They were good.
The warranty is pretty good. It's just that the diagnostic fee is high. You're paying a monthly fee for the service. It covers a number of things, but not really. You still have to pay to visit and they may or may not cover the parts. When you can get through somebody, American Home Shield is pretty helpful. But it took me multiple calls for them to do a claim with another person and they wanted to charge me for it and I refused. I told them, "It wasn't fixed the first time. I'm not gonna pay again for having something in which I've been complaining about for a year." So they did not charge me for it.
The American Home Shield website itself is fine for you to get the claim. But for follow-up, it's complicated. You can't really follow up online. Even if you leave a message, they're not responsive or it's responsive a few days later. So if this was an emergency, what do you do? Then the second thing to be cognizant about is that even when you call, you're trying to go through the process, and then it keeps kicking you out. Sometimes it's easy to connect and other times it's not. You have to dig for that number. It's not obvious. So the website is missing a few things in order to make the customer have a better customer experience.
American Home Shield wants you to use the website. So they have now a telediagnostic, which is useless. I haven't used it, but I don't think it's the most efficient way. That said, if you do your thing, they'll tell you this is an order and then they ask you to call directly the company that is doing the issue. So if you have an issue with the company, but you can't get through the company, which is what my problem was, I had no other way to state my complaint, that even though I said they're not coming, whenever I had to call them to let them know that this was an issue.
I waited a long time because my refrigerator wasn't working, and then it worked, and then it wasn't working again, and then it worked again. There was really no recourse other than complaining on a regular basis. I have other issues that I'm dealing with. The first problem happened on August last year and the company came on October. They were supposed to come back but they didn't. I complained in May and I complained again in August this year and they finally sent me this new company. I had to let them know the machine that I was using because not all repair people repair all machines. But I will work again with Creative Connection because they were very efficient. Plus, they're Caribbean. So I trust them better.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you encountered with your initial service contractor and appreciate your patience while the matter was resolved. It's wonderful to know that Creative Connections provided you with the swift service you deserved.

South Sound Appliance came out and installed a new dishwasher. This time was probably the best experience I've had with using American Home Shield always. In the past, it's been a little more difficult to get things accomplished for whatever reason. Our HVAC system had to be redone this spring. The person that I initially contacted from American Home Shield could not follow my requests, which I'm hearing-impaired. He would talk over me, would not listen to me, and spoke so very rapidly that I ended up losing my temper, which is not appropriate on anybody's part.
It was a very frustrating experience and trying to get him to transfer me to someone else was very excruciating. I nearly canceled everything right then and there, but I desperately needed the HVAC system so I couldn't. It was probably one of the worst experiences with any customer service I'd ever had. This time around, there were no problems at all. It was as easy as could be.
Dear Barbara,

We had the Kenmore Elite and we have to pull the freezer out from the bottom. One of the tracks was destroyed. It was messed up during the service repair when they were putting the chip in. They ordered the new rails. But when the rails got there, they won't work for our refrigerator. By the fourth visit, a different technician concluded that the refrigerator was irreparable.
Now, we're going back and forth with American Home Shield. They were saying they haven't gotten the diagnosis report from Sears and they couldn't reach Sears. Sears came out on the 21st of August and we've been going through this whole issue since July. At this point, I'm getting a runaround. Also, when I call with the number provided by AHS, it's just an AI representative. I can't talk to a human being.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I called in an issue with my AC on a Friday, and the company American Home Shield assigned the work order to wasn't able to get out until Tuesday. When they first came out, the tech told me exactly what he changed on the unit. He said, “I believe it's gonna be the compressor,” but they put a kickstart to it. That worked for one day, then it stopped working again. They had to order a compressor and they told me I had to go through AHS again to reschedule, which I did. They were good, but for my AC to get fixed, it took three weeks. I was without AC during that period and that was very uncomfortable for me because we had some very hot days.
Before the last craftsman left, I asked if it would have been wiser for the company to replace the unit because my unit is very old. He explained that they can't do that that. I would have to talk with AHS and tell them I want to look into getting a new unit. He explained a bit of that, and I said, “Okay. Makes sense.” However, I'd appreciate a better explanation because going without AC for three weeks was brutal. Last year, I had issues with the AC as well, but they said it was because the refrigerant was overcharged. It was a different company that came out then.
We apologize for the disruption and inconvenience caused due to the delay in addressing your AC issue. We understand the challenge of waiting over the weekend and the extended wait for the compressor replacement during the hot summer months. Our goal is always to provide timely and effective service.

My experience with Sears was very professional and very good. A rack that holds the shelf had broken, and they replaced it. They had to come out, investigate, and then order the part. They came back and put it in the day they received the part. Ever since I've been signed up with American Home Shield, they have the property address wrong. I cannot get it corrected. Sometimes, that causes me a problem when parts are ordered. They have my address correct as the owner, but they have the property address wrong. I've had sometimes technicians trying to get here, and they would call me and say, “Your address is not in in the maps anywhere." I say, “I agree.” Multiple times, I've tried to get that corrected.
Right now, there's nobody to call. It looks like they don't want any customer calls. I've tried to go in and self-correct it, but they won't let me do it. So, that's been my frustration. Other than that, they've been good about the services. The technicians have been good. They've been responsive and they've done well with the repairs.

Summer Breeze was sent for our AC claim. Their technician was professional, kind and efficient, and he was able to do the repair the same day. As far as American Home Shield, I would like to have the opportunity to upgrade my policy so it covers roof problems. However, with the way that their policies are done, they're not able to upgrade in the middle of a term of a policy. It has to wait until the renewal of the policy, which doesn't makes sense. I should be able to upgrade at any point that I have a policy.
I left American Home Shield and went to Choice for a while because they were offering that service and AHS wasn't. When I came back to American Home Shield and signed back in for my new policy, I thought that I was getting that service in the renewal of the policy. It did not turn out to be the case. They signed me up for what I had previously ha, and that was not what I asked for. Once I'm already locked in for this new policy, I can't get the policy that I actually asked for in the first place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad to hear that our technician was able to resolve your AC issue promptly and professionally—that’s the level of service we strive to deliver every time.
We understand your frustration regarding the policy upgrade limitations. Strong Appliance was an awful company. They lied that they came to my house. They even supplied the time that they came. They gave a diagnosis that wasn't true. They said that the consumer tried to fix the machine and they messed it up. They even ordered parts. AHS got another company that wasn't much better. It took over a week for them to come. Their company was located at the state next to us. I'm in Ohio and they're in Pennsylvania. I just wasn't happy with not getting a local repair person to come to my house. Even the first tech that was supposed to come, his company was 50 miles away. Finally, we got it taken care of just last week. And it really took a while. I canceled my service with American Home Shield. It was horrible. I paid for a service that I cannot receive and AHS canceled requests without communicating that they don't have the technician to dispatch. I was their customer for four years. Paid premiums, had a call or two, nothing major. I recently had an issue with my AC. I called and had a service technician come out, paid my $100. The technician came all the way from Georgia. I live in Central Florida. However, AHS doesn't have techs in my area. The technician who came was unaware, because he lives in Georgia. He has never been to my property. He doesn't know the history.
It is the first technician call that I've had that I was not there for because I have purchased a new property that is now an investment property. The tenants did not know the history on the service that has been provided. AHS serviced my AC in August of 2024. I called in about the AC again on August 2025. The technician came and said it was misuse and abuse. I said, "Absolutely not," because I had a service plan on my AC unit before I became an AHS customer. A technician was out last year to look at it. That doesn't sound like the definition of misuse and abuse. I don't fit that qualification.
I called AHS and requested a second opinion. However, several days passed but I haven't heard anything about it. My app showed that the second opinion service request was canceled. I called because I didn't cancel it. AHS said, "Dispatch canceled it because they couldn't find a technician." I said I still wanted a second opinion. First, they tried to tell me, "It's been more than seven days so we can't submit the second opinion." I had to wait for a supervisor to call me back so I could get the second opinion resubmitted. They resubmitted it, but they cancelled it within 48 hours. They never communicated it to me. I called back again to find out what the heck was going on because I saw it was canceled. I've been escalated to a supervisor twice to get the second opinion request put in and both of them got canceled, and neither time AHS communicated them to me.
I was done. I called to cancel. It took 30 minutes to cancel my plan because AHS kept trying to upsell stuff and, "We can refund you this and you don't have to worry about that. You do not have air conditioning technicians in the state of Florida, ma'am." Florida, Texas, California, Arizona. If AHS doesn't have AC technicians in those states, they should not write home service policies for AC units in those states. It's hot as hell in Florida. The technicians that I have talked to don't like working with AHS. They would rather work with the other home warranty companies.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I have a house with a tenant and the air conditioner stopped working. American Home Shield had an HVAC company come and fix that. They did a great job. They were very quick, knowledgeable and completed the service without any problem at all. I put in a second claim for that same house and it was for a water valve underneath the sink as well as a faucet. Both were leaking. American Home Shield sent USA Plumbing and they were terrible. They came to my house and looked at the one problem. The service guy said that the water valve was loose and he fixed that without a problem.
The service guy was outside already when I said, "What about the faucet?" He said, "Nothing's wrong with the faucet." I said, "I put in the ticket for two things." He said, "No. The person said that nothing else is wrong. I turned the faucet on and off, and it was not a problem." I said, "There is." He went and looked, then he came out and told me it was a pre-existing condition 'cause it was an old faucet. I said, "What do you mean it's a pre-existing condition? That whole damn house is old. Everything is a pre-existing condition at that house." He told my tenant that the leak has been going on forever. I said, "Wait a minute. He just told me outside that he couldn't even find it, and now, he's gonna say it's forever?"
So, then the service guy paused and said both of them are a pre-existing condition. There was no water damage in the cabinet where the water valve is, so that wouldn't be a preexisting condition. I work for an insurance company, so I understand the whole concept. The service guy put in a ticket and said that both of them are pre-existing, that they're old, so the claim was denied. I called American Home Shield and they said, "Let's send a second opinion out." However, they couldn't find a second opinion, so they canceled it. I'm still having the issue in the property 'cause the service guy fixed one bad leak and didn't fix the other one.
Overall, I'm not happy with the home warranty company or the plumbing company. Truly, American Home Shield is gonna be a one-hit wonder in one year. I have a contract for one year and as soon as that's over, I'm going to somebody else because it was wrong for them to offer me a second opinion and then cancel the request after 48 hours when they couldn't find one.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

So, another technician had to come out, look at it, order parts, and come back out, and then put those parts on. So far, the part is working fine. The AC went out and when the tech from May Heating checked it, he reported back to American Home Shield that the compressor was out and that the unit was off before he got there. The unit could not work without the compressor, so it kept triggering the breaker box. AHS misperceived how it was written out by May Heating. They contacted me three times and said that they told AHS that the compressor was out. They weren’t saying that the unit broke down or was damaged, and I'm trying to file a false claim.
American Home Shield didn't want to pay for it and they haven’t been responding. I’m going to drop them because I don’t want to keep paying money if they’re just looking for ways not to pay out or honor what they say when I have a problem. This wasn’t a preexisting issue. Processing the appliance claim went well, but it didn't go in my favor so I'm upset. American Home Shield sent a crew out here. The technician told me one thing and then it was denied because of reason B, which he never told me. I was asked to approve out of pocket expenses to fix the item. But I told them that I wanted to get a second opinion before we do that. We got the second opinion and he said it was bad. But it was denied because of an act of God. I didn't go down quietly. Define act of God. So, they cover rust and corrosion, but they denied it because of rust and corrosion. I live near the ocean. It was considered excessive. It's an act of God. So, American Home Shield didn't live up to their warranty. When you call them, they direct you to the website.
I had to pay for two service calls. That's 250 bucks. According to the second guy, the repairs may not fix the bigger problem. So, we're looking at if I can afford a refrigerator or not. When I tried to go back to the out-of-pocket expenses to fix the rusty and corroded water valve, American Home Shield said, "Well, the company that comes out here doesn't do that." I'm not a happy American Home Shield customer.

It was like they didn't care what I had to say. The policy was this, and that was the script they stuck to. That was so discouraging. It was almost like not talking to a human. Everything else has been perfect. The latest call I made was to install an oven that AHS had replaced, and all went perfectly fine. In fact, it's a heavy oven, and I was able to give the service person some assistance. It went well. Overall, American Home Shield's service is good.

Sears came out quickly. They diagnosed the AC, ordered the part, and got it to the house. They came out and installed it. That was over the course of three visits. They recharged the Freon and told me to call them back if it still didn't work. Things were okay for two days. It didn't work again, so we called them back. They looked and ordered more than one part. They thought they ordered a compressor too, but they didn't. So, they came back out, replaced the part, said the same things. Again, it was not working after two days. When we called back and reported it wasn't working, Sears stopped coming back out. It has been a month without a refrigerator.
I couldn't reach the new company that has been servicing the fridge to get an update because there has been some confusing communication. American Home Shield sent out a tech who diagnosed it as a compressor shortly after Sears wouldn't come out. We got that taken care of. They ordered the part and gave me the timeline for it. But for some reason, they sent out another tech close to a week later, who diagnosed and suggested the problem was bigger. I've been trying to call them to get some sense of what this all means and what they have to do. They weren't picking up the phone. The voicemail was full.
I talked to AHS about it. AHS reached out to the contractor and got back on the phone with me to say that whatever they ordered would be in tomorrow. However, the guy that I talked to today said they don't know if they can get the parts and they will know by the end of today. I don't know if I was satisfied with American Home Shield's approach.

The capacitor on the outside unit needed replacement and the technician from Royal Flush AC arrived at the end of the day and didn't look very happy. He replaced the part and he said he needed to check the inside unit. I told him we remove the shoes inside the house, which is what I tell everybody, and I’ve never had a problem with technicians. I offered bags, but he refused, and we went back and forth before he agreed. He went in and while checking the temperature in the attic, he tripped and fell down. He hurt his hand and was bleeding a little bit. He tore down my attic insulation as well. I talked to the company and they came back and replaced it.
The AC has been working fine since with no further issues. But after the technician hurt himself, he removed the plastic bags while inside and just walked out. But no worries. American Home Shield deals with a couple of companies. So, I can just tell them I don't want this company. I want another one. American Home Shield was good with me.

I have a refrigerator in my garage, and at one time, it was covered. Then, American Home Shield did some changes in the plan and didn't tell me anything. When that refrigerator needed a little plastic seal that go around it I was told me they didn't cover that. But before, they told me they cover anything at your house, outside or inside. But they changed it, so that's not cool. I won't worry about it though. It's an old icebox. I'll just use it until I can't use it anymore because I'm not going to pay $800 for the little seals to go around that. I could buy a cheap $800 ice box and put it in my garage. I have been with American Home Shield for five years now and very time I had to call them, it'd been a good experience. Recently, they sent Appliance Tech out and they were very professional as always.

The tech came out because the washing machine was just stuck in sensor or something. So the first time he came out, he said that the part needed to be replaced. He ordered the part and then came back a week later and replaced the whole part. The washing machine is working now.
The tech was good and honest. He also replaced a part on my dishwasher that melted. He ordered the part and he brought it at the same time with the washing machine. American Home Shield is s really good company, so far.

I am displeased with American Home Shield and Subcooling Services because I felt that I was made to pay to get some work done that I shouldn't have had to pay for. The AC leaked water and did not cool. However, I don't understand why they charged me when I'm supposed to be covered on the American Home Shield. I had to pay them $125 to do whatever it was they needed to do when they came out. I already paid the service fee and they took the service fee out of my account. Then they charged me $125.
I told the contractor I'm covered under AHS warranty. But they said they have to charge for that. I didn't appreciate that. The contractor said that it's how they do things when they come. I said, "No. You're supposed to be paid by American Home Shield no matter what you do so that needs to be filed with American Home Shield." The tech said it does not. If I want them to look at my air conditioning and do cleaning, I would have to pay them. I called AHS. I asked the lady that I talked to why did I have to pay. She said she didn't know why, but she didn't bother to look at it.
American Home Shield sent another tech from Subcooling out, which was the last one who just called. They came out and looked at it. They said that the water that was in my unit, the thing was stopped up. And because the drain is not at the bottom, it's why the water sits there. They supposedly have connected it where the water will drain out. But that's not happening. Other than that, he said that was not what he does. He would put in his report for AHS to send out a plumber.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experiences. I put a claim in for a cracked tank. When the guy from K & S walked in, he said American Home Shield was probably not gonna cover it because it's not natural wear and tear. I asked him why he took my 125 if he already knew that. I'm a little upset about that. When I made the appointment, I told the lady on the phone what was wrong because I know that AHS is very specific on what they will and will not cover. I did have another call and I put another work order in. The tech came out and he fixed my air conditioner. He knew exactly what the issue was. He was in and out of there in 15 minutes. He was very nice.
Wendy, we appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that you're overall satisfied with our home warranty service. We understand how frustrating it can be to learn that a repair isn’t covered. The techs from One Stop came and put my brand new washer in, then after I week, as soon as I started to wash, the unit just stopped. It developed the water in the tank, then I didn't hear it washing. I opened it up then all the lights went out. Nothing worked at all. So, then we had call in a claim with American Home Shield, then we had GE Repair Service's guy come out. He said the wiring was hooked up incorrectly and because of that, it burnt out the motherboard. He was able to get me a new motherboard out of his truck and said that I had to contact the people who tried to set it up for them to fix it. He took pictures and sent them to One Stop.
But after a dozen phone calls, they refused to come back and just said it was the machine. One Stop kept saying it was a faulty equipment. So, American Home Shield finally got Sears that's supposed to come out tomorrow. I didn’t see it on the app, but the rep told me they were coming and I hope they are because I'm staying home tomorrow. I had other claims done on my dishwasher and the toilet. But this one for my washer is the only one that's giving me so much problems. It's so inconvenient and it's been such a headache. I've been going through this for almost a month now. American Home Shield tried their best to help me. They tried to send someone else before Sears but they didn't respond because it looked like they don't cater to the Norwalk area. So, American Home Shield had to find another person and I like the way they found Sears quickly today, and got them to come out by tomorrow.

Christian Plumbing did a wonderful job. We submitted the plumbing claim to American Home Shield. The same day, the plumbing company called us and set up an appointment to come out. They had their estimates ready before they left, and it was a matter of going through the procedure with American Home Shield. We've been a customer of American Home Shield for over 20 years and we've used their services a number of times, so this is an isolated incident. The toilet had to be replaced because it would have been more expensive to replace all the tubes and lines to it. There was a valve that was messed up on the outside, so it would have been much more expensive to do it that way. So, they sent in an order for a replacement.
A few days go on and it kept saying that it was in process. Finally, after about five days, I called and they assured me that by that Friday afternoon, it would be fully processed, and that it was being reviewed by their team. That didn't happen. So on Monday, I called. They said it was still under review by the team. What we were gonna need is a second estimate. We've never had to do a second estimate on anything. We even had a heating unit that had to be replaced, and there was no second estimate on that.
I live in Murphy, North Carolina, which is a small mountain town. There's not a whole lot of full service plumbers out here. There are a lot of handymen, but not service plumbers. In fact, they had to come from North Georgia to do this. So, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and one did call me back the next day. Her name is Mavis. She said that they needed the second opinion and that I could call around. I said, “Well, I'm not supposed to be doing that. That's part of your job.” I asked to speak to her supervisor, and she said she is the supervisor. I asked for whoever is above her, and she refused to give it to me. At the end of the second week, I finally got a call from Christian Plumbing. They had received the okay from American Home Shield. That was on a Friday afternoon and they said they could be out that Monday morning.
They came out on Monday morning. They got there about 9:30, and the tech took the old one off and called it out. It's up from upstairs. About 10 o'clock, I got a call from Mavis at American Home Shield. She said it was approved. I told her that the plumbing company called and we've set our time, and that he was already replacing it. She said there would be a $724 co-pay. I had her on speaker so that my husband could hear the conversation, too. The tech upstairs looked over the rail and he was mouthing to me, “We don't have anything that's $700.” I said, “Hold on. We paid our monthly premium, $123. We paid our $134 service fee for them to come out initially. That's supposed to go towards it if we choose to do it that way.” Mavis said, “Well, there's still gonna be a $727.”
Mavis asked to speak to the tech. She started talking to him, and the tech said, “Ma'am, I've already taken the toilet out and put it in the truck. Ma'am, we've never had to do a second opinion either. It was really broken beyond repair because of the lines going to it and the bad valve on not only inside but outside.” She kept on saying there was gonna be a $727 co-pay. When the tech asked her what it is for, she said it was for the toilet seat.
Apparently, my husband's disabled and he had put on there that if possible that they had a seat that would extend the height of it. Mavis kept going on and on, and finally, I got her away from him because he had nothing to do with it. I just told her, “Ma'am, if you had told us initially what this was for instead of continuing to say it’s a co-pay that we owed, we wouldn't have had this long conversation.” We talked for over 25 minutes, going back and forth about this, and she still refused to give me her supervisor's name. She never even apologized. We were not happy with that because the process took 2.5 weeks.
Other than that, the plumbing issue had been fixed. Christian Plumbing was on time, spot on, and cleaned up everything. You never even knew anything had been in there, so I have 0 complaints for them. We were just both put out so much with American Home Shield that we probably will not renew in October. We've been satisfied with them all along, but it seems like they're taking a different turn. They've gone up with their price, too. When we first started using them, they were $40 a month for the same coverage that we receive today. Currently, we're paying $123.
Thank you for your loyalty and for sharing your recent experience with American Home Shield. I am happy to hear that Christian Plumbing provided excellent service, but I'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience you faced regarding our process and communication. Your feedback is incredibly important and noted, and I would love the chance to assist you further and work towards resolving any remaining issues. Please don't hesitate to reach out. When Fire & Ice Heating came out, the tech seemed unprofessional and biased. After asking me if I lived in my house, he said that there was a pre-existing issue with my A/C system, which was not true. Instead of fixing my issue, he suggested it was due to an old problem which they wouldn't cover. I ended up hiring an independent technician. It seemed that there was no significant oil spill, a problem that had been exaggerated by the first technician. By then, I'd realized there seemed to be a pattern of poor service when reading reviews, especially from customers who shared my ethnicity. I also lost confidence in the service of AHS. They had me wait for a week just to get a tech out. Then, at the end of the day, I had to pay it from my own pocket.
Good day Josh. Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. I was able to locate your service request, and I will be reaching out to you via email within the next 24 hours.

I have been a customer of AHS for several years and have only needed to use them a few times. I mainly wanted to have it if my A/C ever went out. My experience with AHS has been nothing short of a nightmare. As a dishonest company themselves, they contract with other dishonest contractors to do shoddy work. It took them over 5-months to repair a dishwasher (it never actually got repaired). I ended up just replacing it, which AHS is supposed to do per my contract. The repair company came out three separate occasions in which they destroyed my cabinets, caused a leak, and lied about replacing parts. AHS is a scam! Buyer beware.

This company has been a complete nightmare. My AC has been broken for a month, and I still don’t have an answer on when it will be fixed. No updates, no timelines, no sense of urgency at all. Meanwhile, I have my 84-year-old mother in the home, and we’ve been suffering through temperatures in the high 90s with heavy humidity. This isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s dangerous. The fact that a warranty company can leave a family in these conditions for months is beyond unacceptable. A warranty is supposed to give you peace of mind, but all I’ve gotten is stress, frustration, and excuses. They clearly don’t care about their customers. If you’re thinking about choosing this company, do yourself a favor and look somewhere else.

American Home Shield needs to improve in terms of communication. Heavenly Winds Heating & Cooling came out for our AC unit and there were parts that were ordered, which took a couple of days. When customers have something vital out like an AC unit in the state of Florida and the customer has told them that they’ve been without AC for a couple of days and a part needs to be ordered, communication is vital. AHS needs to let the customer know that they’ve submitted the order and that they’re waiting on the parts, which should arrive on a certain day. If it doesn’t come on that day, AHS should also communicate this to the customer. In our case, we had to follow up ourselves, and that was a little concerning for us.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the coverage American Home Shield provides!

American Home Shield is absolutely terrible. I had a claim for my AC unit and things spun out of control when contractors sent by American Home Shield failed to fix the problem. The original contractors informed me I required complete replacements of my AC unit and water heater, totaling around $4,000 out of pocket.
I reached out for a second opinion. It turned even more frustrating as American Home Shield sent a plumber who insisted it was an AC problem, while the AC contractors claimed it was a plumbing issue. I got both of the contractors on the phone together, and then it became a macho contest. I called an outside HVAC. The tech came and fixed it in 15 minutes. It just got fixed a week ago. My property was leaking for an entire two months and neither of them would change it.
We sincerely regret to hear about the difficulties you faced with resolving your AC unit issue and navigating the responses from American Home Shield. Your situation is indeed frustrating and points to a breakdown in communication and process, which is far from what we aim to offer our valued customers.
It is discouraging that sufficient support wasn’t offered to address the various concerns promptly, leading to further complications. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We wish to assure you that your feedback is pivotal.
Please allow us to revise and understand more about this situation—or other pending concerns—with you, as we hope to amendment procedure. For any immediate further discussions, feel free to connect with our customer service team at your earliest convenience.

American Home Shield is good, but the company that they use for appliances are the worst company I've ever seen in my life. Everything that ATL Agile ever fixed is not fixed. They came multiple times fixing the dishwasher over and over again and misdiagnosing it, and it keeps coming up with the same problem. The water keeps going in the overflow pan. They keep changing stuff, and it's not fixing the problem. I keep paying money for someone to come out, and I just had to pay another 100, and it's the same exact thing. It's been probably almost eight months. They came out about five times. I've been having problems with my refrigerator as well, and it's been ongoing for about four months. The same company keeps coming out and they're fixing it, and it's still not fixed. I still don't get ice.
Overall, mainly, the issue is not with American Home Shield. It's ATL Agile. However, for improvement, if the customer keeps saying, "Hey, they're not doing the work. I'm still having issues," especially when it's been almost a year with one of the appliances alone, they should send a different company out so they can address the situation. They're sending a different company out, but I don't think I should be responsible for spending all this money because the issue was never resolved, and it's been ongoing to the point where the overflow pan at the bottom of the dishwasher had to be disconnected to pour the water out that goes in the pan that sets off the sensor every day. Yesterday, I had to do it three different times, and I kept trying to run the washer. I just got frustrated and had to call.
When I contacted ATL Agile about the problem with my refrigerator, they didn't wanna fix it. They were trying to convince me to cancel the work order because they would be responsible for the work order some way. I told them I was not doing that. So, they canceled the work order, and I had to call AHS with them on the phone because they were lying.
They're supposed to come back and fix the same icemaker that's been ongoing for the last four months, and when I called them, they were gonna schedule me right away. They thought it was a new work order. But when I told them it's the same work order from the item that was never fixed, I don't have an appointment until the 16th, and I made it last week for something that they're supposed to be prioritizing because I'm going for months. They kept trying to get me on a Friday, but I'm saying that Fridays is difficult with our schedules for work.
Another thing is the contractors can barely speak English. They don't communicate well. When you call, the lady that work in the office, is very rude. Then they just don't know what they're doing. They randomly change parts. I don't know where they come up with these ideas of how they figure out what needs to be changed because they don't add up to the outcome of the repairs. Everyone else that AHS sent for AC and stuff like that was very good.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience regarding the appliance repairs. I’d be happy to speak with you further to address any concerns or issues you may have.

If I'm doing a service request, I always use American Home Shield's online website, but if I need to talk to them about something, I call them and I've never had a problem reaching out. I also have not had any problem with American Home Shield except for this one thing where I told them that the light fixtures in my garage did not work. They had Sure Foundation come, and they found that the problem was the ballasts for the light fixtures, but they were not able to do anything because American Home Shield would not allow them to. They said the ballasts were $50 apiece and they would not allow them to fix it.
American Home Shield charged me $100 for the service fee and I have yet to get that back from them. I've called them three times about getting it back, and they said, "Well, you should get it back." Last Monday, I talked to them, and they said, "You should have it in the next day or two." I said, "Well, this is the third time y'all told me this and I've had to call you back. And I still hadn't got it." American Home Shield would not fix a $50 part when I was paying them $90 a month.
I got a survey by email from American Home Shield and I did not give them a very good report, then the guy that owns the electrical company called me and said that was against him. It was bad because the email came from American Home Shield. The guy told me that that report moved him from a 5-star to a 4.2 star, which means that he will not get as much work from them as he once would. I called American Home Shield about that, and they told me that they couldn't take that report off. I told them then, "I would not have given a bad report against that guy because his hands was tied. He couldn't do anything because y'all wouldn't allow him to do it.” Overall, I haven't had a good experience with this, but I haven't always had this issue. I would still probably get friends and family members to use American Home Shield.
Dear Paul,
Thank you so much for the 4- star rating and providing thoughtful feedback regarding your customer service experiences with American Home Shield warranty! We truly value your loyalty and look forward to serving you in the future.

I've been paying American Home Shield for almost two years now. Every time they come out, it costs nobody but me. I had to buy a whole new AC unit. They gave me $200 on a $5,000 unit. When they came out from my washer, I had a belt put on it. I had to pay them $125 plus my monthly fee of $50. I could have just paid somebody to come out and put a belt on it. They came out not long ago for my washer and dryer and did not do anything. They told me that I just need to get a heating and air person out to clean out my vents because that's why my dryer is not drying. I haven't saw any reason why I should keep the service with American Home Shield.
Prior to me buying a new AC unit, they came out once before and it cost me $800. They said that I needed some antifreeze coolant. I said, "Well, okay. It's out now." Then they said, "Well, we're gonna have to fill it again. And then, if the coolant or whatever goes out again, then we'll replace it." To put the coolant in it was $1,200. I tried to cancel with American Home Shield and then they offered me a free month of service. I said, "No, you can just cancel it." Then they said, "No, just keep the service. Because if your washer or dryer goes back out, we'll send somebody back out for you." But every time they send them out, they just don't help me. So why do they keep sending them out? I pay every time they come out unless they come right back out.

I pay American Home Shield 59.99 monthly. I call them for claims, but they get more money out of me than I'm getting out of them. They assigned an AC company that had to come out four times over the course of two weeks because they couldn't figure out what the issue was. That was a little challenging for me, but the problem kept persisting. However, we've got it done now and I have not had a problem since the last time.
Initially though, when I called American Home Shield, they gave me this company. I wasn't sure where the repair was gonna go and what was going to be covered, but I said, "No, I want another company to come out that has come out before." The rep said they're the only ones that are accepting their ticket and I didn't understand that. What does that say about American Home Shield? It's only one company. I immediately went to checking reviews for this company and I was reading reviews more so from people that look like me. So I was comfortable in the reviews that I saw online.

I've had American Home Shield for some time. I've had claims on different appliances and I've had good vendors as well as bad ones. My appliances are all working now. When they had Handyman come out, it was to fix my dishwasher. The service person found that there was something wrong with it, then he put the thing in it, and then that was that. He did a good job. I haven't tested it, but I assume it was fine.
American Home Shield's claims submission process is easy and good, but they need to have more categories. That would change everything if they fix that one little thing. When I submit claims, I use either my laptop or the app. If I'm in front of my laptop, I'll use my laptop. If I'm on my phone, I'll use the app. Often, I speak with representatives because usually my situation is a little unique or there's a little twist. For example, when I put a service request in, there was a plumbing section, but there was not an other category or a notes section. Even the vendor called me and said, "So you need a faucet fixed?" I said, "No." "Oh, well, we may not be the right vendor." "Well, yeah. Because that's all I could put in there."
I'm all about trying to fix a product and service and I see that there could be some really good things if American Home Shield does a couple of different things. There's a lot of different challenges. For example, the process I'm in right now, I feel that I submitted something that AHS should cover and they don't feel like they should. I've asked for a second opinion and their answer was, "Sorry, sir. We can't find a second opinion in that area where you're at." I said, "What if I provide you a couple of them?" The rep said, "No, that may be seen as biased." I said, "I don't care who they are. You choose. Here's five." He said, "No, sir. I'm so sorry. We're gonna deny this." American Home Shield has a process, but they don't have one as well. They just said, "This is where it ends. Sorry, we can't find one there. And I know we say we're gonna give you a second opinion. You're allowed to get a second opinion. But nah, we just write that up. It's not real."
The home warranty company is trying to process very difficult things to process. They put them in a box, a process flow, but it's too rigid and there's no flexibility. It's also very hard to have consistency when they have a lot of vendors to deal with and different types of customers. This is a new era and they're not familiar with the product. The customer service people don't know. They're not trained to know certain things and ask, and maybe they don't need it at that level, but they need more categorization so the customer, like me, can write more so it gets into a specific tier. That would help get it to the right vendor or at least explain it to the vendor so they can sort and see if it's correct.
Customer service is starting to sound like AI and AI sounds like them. Even the scripts are shared. The home warranty company is trying to push down the cost and they're trying to automate. I understand that, I'm for that and I even have a company that does that. However, the customer service people get tripped up and I have to restart and restart every time. So I get them kicked off or I can't explain what happens to the specific service I need, but it's someone new. It's really annoying to hear, "Okay. Why don't you tell me from the beginning."
American Home Shield is reliable. They have vendors in this small little town and they'll find them and they'll follow through. If it's not a complicated issue, it's a low-hanging fruit and it's a smooth process. They're quick and it's been a clean service. On the other hand, when it's slightly off a little, that's when everything goes to crap. The vendor doesn't know what they need to do, nor does AHS. Nobody wants to talk to the customer and when they do, everything's new because the help desk person on the AHS side doesn't understand it or they can't get ahold of the vendors.
The request floats there for a couple of days, then someone picks it up. There's not a lot of follow-through there. AHS stands behind their statement. "If we can't fix it, we'll replace it if it falls within the requirements." The requirements are good except for this one issue I'm having right now. Overall though, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield and I would recommend them.
Warm regards,
Marc

I had a refrigerator that wasn't working, a stove, and a dishwasher. The first technician came out, said the refrigerator was a bigger job, and that the owner of the company would come out because he was the only one that could fix that. Eventually, somebody called and said parts would be ordered, but that took forever. Then when a box came, I didn't even know that they were ordering parts. And it was extremely heavy. They just left it by my garage when it was delivered.
I called AHS because I was not hearing from anyone. I also called the company and they asked me to open up the box to see what parts were there. I gave them the index number. Then that took days 'cause they were waiting for all the parts, for everything to come.
The owner came and said it was the compressor for the refrigerator. He said, "Give it till later or the next day." My refrigerator still isn't working. This is going on for three weeks now. He did something with the stove, and that worked for one day. The next day, the same problem occurred. I have spoken again to American Home Shield and I put in for a complaint.
Someone called from a company and said they were coming out. I waited all day home. No one called, no one came out. Called American Home Shield again and they were telling me they couldn't even reach the company twice. This is ridiculous. I'm very frustrated.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience regarding the appliance repairs. I’d be happy to speak with you further to address any concerns or issues you may have.

Avoid AHS at All Costs – Dishonest and Unreliable! American Home Shield is by far one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. They are incredibly friendly and persuasive when signing you up for a policy, but the moment you actually need to file a claim, their support disappears. I submitted a claim for my A/C unit and provided everything they requested a professional inspection report and maintenance invoices clearly showing the unit was in good condition. Despite that, they denied my claim without any valid justification.
Their representatives dismissed my concerns in minutes and refused to take any accountability. It's clear now why they have such a terrible reputation, they will do anything to avoid paying legitimate claims. I’ve already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and, based on what I’ve seen, I am far from the only one. If you’re considering AHS for home warranty coverage, do your research and beware, they are not a company you can trust.

The initial request was pending for 4 months with no communication from AHS or from the locksmith they contracted with, although I was promised I would be contacted within 24 hours. It was not until I called that AHS was able to determine that their local contractor no longer offered the service. They then tried to find another local contractor but were unable to, so they cancelled my service request. In sum, poor communication, lack of attention to the local providers that they contract with, and ultimately they were completely unable to deliver on the service that they had committed to.

I paid an additional $150 for a technician to come out and say I needed a plumber to clean the hose from the dish washer to the drain. I paid another $150 for a plumber to come that said that is the dish washer technician's job. I cancelled before paying another $150 for the tech to come back out.
I also paid $150 for a roof repair company come out in November for a leak. They said due to weather, they should return for the job in the Spring but they would keep my account open. When I contacted them in spring, another estimate was required from a new company once again charging me $150 because too much time elapsed. The new company left 2" of metal sticking out of the trim work on the front of my house on 1 window. They tried to claim this is normal but it is not on any of my other 9 front facing windows nor any neighbors window. Save yourself the headache and money, work directly or with someone else.

I have one of those great big refrigerators and the freezer part was putting water out and freezing it on the sides. I called American Home Shield and they assigned AVA to my claim. I called American Home Shield on a Friday and their tech was out on Tuesday. The gentleman that they sent was very cute and although he seemed like a foreigner, we got along fine. I used my translator for the words that he didn't understand and he was very knowledgeable.
He ran a check on everything, then he brought me in and showed me that it was the icebreaker. Where the water was coming in, it wasn't coming down right. So, he told me they had to replace the icemaker and he would have to come out again. I asked how long it was going to take and he said it was hard to say on the part because my refrigerator is one of those built-in humongous things and it's a 2006 model. Then, the company told me they could have the new icemaker in by Monday or Tuesday. I asked if they could do it on Tuesday because I had physical therapy on Monday and they agreed. So, the tech came back and fixed it. He checked everything, showed me the difference, and that was it. All in all, they had my refrigerator fixed within a week and a half.
I thought American Home Shield was going to take forever to resolve my claim, but they didn't. They were also very polite on the phone. I've had them for a couple of years and so far, everything has been really good. I'd recommend them and let others know that they understood it was important to get this done, because it was the freezer and I was afraid it would go out. So, when they were setting up the schedule, they were very quick about it and I got a call from a contractor that same day. But that company didn't fix the great big refrigerators. So, American Home Shield had AVA call me and their tech came out right away.
We are committed to providing the best possible service and your feedback is instrumental in helping us achieve that goal. Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We look forward to serving you in the future and continuing to build a strong relationship.

The technician from Same Day Air arrived on time and looked professional. I showed him around the house and stayed with him while he checked the AC. After he finished, he left the house to write his report. About 15–20 minutes later, he let himself back into the house without knocking or ringing the doorbell, which I found strange.
When I went to speak with him, he ignored me, walked past me, and went straight to the living room to talk to my wife, asking if she was ready. He said he needed to speak to her because her name was on the work order. I understood that explanation, but his behavior felt rude and unprofessional. He didn’t inform me that he needed to speak with her, ignored me completely, and didn’t acknowledge that I was upset. The technician said everything was fixed and there was nothing to repair. I told him I would get a second opinion because I didn’t understand his behavior or conclusions. And that was my last interaction with him.
The AC generally works, but on very hot days it doesn’t reach the set temperature. I called because I don't wanna wait till it goes out. I have dogs and worry about having to move them if the AC goes out. In the past, another technician told me I needed a major repair costing around $3,100. I got a second opinion, and that technician said it wasn’t really a problem. He added Freon, and everything worked fine. That experience felt like a scam, and I reported everything. I usually submit my service requests online and I’m puzzled why the same contractor is still being used even after receiving bad reviews. They’re tarnishing the reputation of American Home Shield.

American Home Shield did service on some items that I had not working. But not until I called them back that they let me know that it was gonna be declined due to the reason that it was pre-existing. When I bought the house, everything was working. But when I moved in the house, things didn't start working. So, I was already paying for my homeowner's American Home Shield but they didn't do anything. When I checked the house, the faucet wasn't leaking. When I moved in, it started leaking. My husband even told American Home Shield, "How come? Did you come and inspect the house to see if they were leaking or not? 'Cause I turned on the faucets, they weren't leaking." They said that everything was pre-existing. When we turned on the mini-split air conditioner, it turned on. So, we turned it off. But now, we turned it on and tried to leave it on, and the mini-split did not work. So, everything that I put a claim on it was denied.
When I called American Home Shield, I do not understand a word that they were saying. I don't know what nationality they're from. All they can say is, "I'm sorry. Thank you. I'm sorry. Thank you." They kept on saying that. Then I said, "You know what? I cannot talk to you because I cannot understand you. Goodbye." Then I hung up. I'm not very happy with American Home Shield right now. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking very seriously in dropping them.

MaxAir Heating & Cooling came out for our AC. Then we called again because they did not fix it. Then it was a different technician who came out. Then, with this recent time, the other day, it was the same technician from the first service call, and he was very pleasant. He explained everything. The only thing he said, if it was the other unit, I would be charged a different $100 fee. Because we have two units. He said AHS may contact us if it was the other unit, but it's a good thing he verified it was the same unit. Because technician number two, who came out the other time didn't take a picture, and he didn't get the serial number, but he said, but he saw it was the same unit.
There was a little bit of back and forward before they were able to address it. We were concerned that it was the third time they came out and it was an intermittent issue. But a good technician came out and explained everything thoroughly. The only reason why it stopped running is 'cause it was getting overheated.
The process with AHS was really great. I just went online with my app and said, "Service call," and then they sent me a ticket, an email notification with the company name. And that company that they sent, MaxAir, were great and responsive as well. They called me the next business day. I appreciated their timely communication as well.

The first time SWC Plumbing came out, it was to just inspect our hot water tank. It was making a popping noise. We believed that it was time for it to be replaced and the technician confirmed that. He said that he put in for a full replacement for the hot water tank. A couple of weeks went by, I reached out to American Home Shield because we hadn't heard anything. The guy said that it would take a few days to happen. He was there on Friday and that whole next week, nothing happened. I was calling that following week because I still have yet to hear anything on the approval for this and there was leaking water damage in our hallway.
I finally reached out to American Home Shield and then within a matter of a few hours, SWC called, saying that it was approved. So, I don't know why it took me having to call for that to happen. They came at the end of that week. I've been pretty upset with how it's happened. The technician came out again with the hot water tank to replace it. Unbeknownst to the technician, my husband is a licensed inspector on plumbing, home, and every form and facet in Oklahoma. He has his license for inspections so he knows the code and what's required for installs on these things and what's not required.
Instead of installing a residential tank, the technician installed a commercial tank. He did not have the TP valve. He did not have the drip pan. It wasn't even properly vented from the hot water tank through the ceiling. He didn't call the gas company whenever he lift the switch, which is required. My husband was trying to tell him, “No. This is required. This does not meet code setbacks.” He said, “Well, American Home Shield doesn't pay for updates, code updates. They don't require that.” That was bonkers to me because the guy was just arguing with him, and was telling him every which way, “No. This isn't required. That shouldn't matter on certain installs.” My husband knows what he knows, but the technician did not treat it that way.
My husband let me know what happened. I immediately called SWC Plumbing because I was not happy with how this happened. A permit was not pulled whenever they did this, which is required. The gentleman tried to tell me, “I can come and give you an estimate for the drip pan and the TP valve. But we're not required to do those. But I can give you an estimate to let you know how much it would cost you.” I told him, “No. You're not doing that. This is a warranty claim. And you're telling me you're not required to at least make it set to meet code standards, but you're okay just to go in and put it in however you want? And it doesn't have to at least meet code standards whenever it's a warranty claim? That makes no sense.” Also, the gas shutoff valve was in the back of the tank where he positioned it to where there was no way for us to reach that. It's covered by three walls.
There was no way for us to get to the gas valve on the hot water tank. SWC tried to leave it that way. Whenever the owner of SWC called and tried to tell me, “I can give you an estimate for more work,” I said, “No. You're not. I'm not giving you anything. You didn't even complete the job.” So, again, he simply wasn't aware of whose house he was in, because my husband knows these things. I told my husband, “Well, I just got off the phone with him. And he's trying to tell me he can come give us an estimate for more work.” So, he called American Home Shield and told them the situation. SWC also told us that American Home Shield didn't cover the code updates, so my husband called American Home Shield to verify that we do. We pay $81 a month and it is a part of our plan for code updates.
When my husband spoke the owner of SWC, he told them, “Look, I've already called the city on this. And I've called CIB on you guys. This is not okay. I'm not happy with how this went. I tried to tell your technician what is required. That shouldn't have happened. He needs to do this. And he argued with me the whole time. He tried to tell me that certain venting with certain things isn't required.” The owner said, “Well, that shouldn't matter. It's in a residence.” My husband said, “I realize that, but he did not.” So they were aware that they did not do this right.
It took them about a week to come back out, but they did eventually come back out and give us a proper hot water tank with the drip pan and the TP valve. It is also properly insulated. So, now, we're square. But I was not satisfied with how long it took for American Home Shield to let me know that this was approved to get this process going whenever I have to call. That's not okay. That shouldn't be my job. It's their job to call and let us know when these are approved or not. Also, American Home Shield uses companies that are sending technicians out that don't even know what they're doing.
I apologize for the challenges you've experienced during the repair process with our service. We understand how frustrating the delays and installation issues must have been, and this didn't meet the high standards we aim to uphold. Please know we take these concerns seriously.

I had a garage door issue and the two techs that came out from Smokey's were amazing. It turned out to be caused by a tension spring for the belt and they had whatever they needed so they were able to resolve it. For this service, I reached out to the American Home Shield in the morning, and by the afternoon, the techs were already here. As soon as I put the call with American Home Shield, they sent it over to Smokey's, Smokey's ended up calling me, and they had availability that afternoon. Best Care Home Services came out and they assessed the situation on my claim. They said that something was going on with the dampers and they needed a part. They're gonna order the part, and when the part got in, they would bring the part in and schedule to come back out. When the part came in, they came back out but come to find out they had the wrong size. Once they got the right size, they came back out and put the correct part in.
I've had American Home Shield for some years. At one point, I didn't have them and went to another company. Then I came back because I overall liked American Home Shield better. They seem to be efficient with things. However, a lot of times when these contractors come out, they are assuming that you're going to do side deals with them, or they tell you things that may not be appropriate like needing the whole unit replaced. But they’re gonna just do enough to patch it up to keep it working.
But overall, American Home Shield has been good. The people have always been professional and accommodating. The time frame when you do a service request has not been long. Even for the home that we own and live in and the home that we own and rent out, we also have American Home Shield. I have recommended them and I continue to do so.

The dishwasher wasn't starting. The contractor sent the referral to American Home Shield who denied buying the part, saying that instead I needed to replace the appliance. The contractor is one of the most reliable, like they say. And when their techs come, they don't give creepy vibes. When I had a leak, the technician that was sent to my house was weird. And when they couldn't resolve it, they sent another one who I liked. Whoever did the plumbing, those are the ones that I want to come to my house. I don't want that other company to come to my house because that guy was such a creep. So, I like Reliable. I've used them for other things, and AHS had used them. I hope AHS never changes them.
I had to go a separate route because I had to buy the appliance myself. It was easier for Lowe's to do it versus having to coordinate multiple things. AHS gave me an appliance to buy that was the same, but in Alaska, the prices are different, even to install. I have to take what's here. With the tariff situation going on, if I wanted what they said and it's not here, it would have taken six weeks.
AHS sucks as far as trying to get me service because when my refrigerator went out, I was without a refrigerator because of HSA for almost two months. I'm not happy with that part. And it has nothing to do with the local. They need to take into consideration like Alaska and Hawaii, where we're not part of the continental US. With that refrigerator thing that happened, they should have let me replace it like what they did with the dishwasher. Because on top of we had to wait so long for it to get here, when the part got here, one of the parts was damaged. All of it had to be sent back and come back.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re pleased to hear you value the dependable service from Reliable Appliance technicians and are happy with their professionalism. We recognize and deeply regret the challenges you faced with our warranty service. Your insights regarding delivery timing and logistics in Alaska are invaluable.

American Home Shield sent out Complete Air Mechanical to diagnose and fix my air conditioning unit. They fixed the problem as far as the air, but it was leaking water afterwards. So, the technician had to do a recall, and he's still working on it. He's been out a couple of times. The job was not something that could be done in one visit because Complete Air Mechanical elected to repair the unit rather than replace it, even though American Home Shield had told me when I talked to them that they would authorize replacement if that's what the company recommended. However, the company recommended to repair the coil, which they did, and then that didn't solve the problem.
I had to call Complete Air Mechanical out a second time, and they came in and changed the dryer on my unit because it was still malfunctioning. Once he changed the dryer on it, the unit started leaking. The technician came out yesterday and he said he has to order another part, some kind of shield to stop it from leaking. So, I'm not sure what's gonna happen next, if he's just gonna keep throwing parts at it, or eventually, they'll say, "Okay. Yes, we should have just replaced it in the first place." That would have been the logical course of action.
American Home Shield should have more input from the property owner as to whether or not they elect for the replacement or not, but they said that they would rely on the technician, which unfortunately, the technician is gonna possibly go with what's gonna make more money for him in the company. That's what I think happened in this case. The company can get a lot more money by billing for repair work, than just for R&R.
At this point right now, there's a lot of labor that's involved, and my air conditioning unit is still not fixed, but I'm hoping that the technician can fix it. I spoke with American Home Shield about it, and I told them, "This is not gonna make any sense. And what's gonna happen is he comes out here, and then two months later, I'm gonna have the same problem." They said, "If you have a problem within 30 days, it's covered." So far, I've had two problems within the first 30 days.

American Home Shield's customer service is helpful in answering whatever questions I have. However, the first time they scheduled Sears to come out, I was told a technician was going to show up somewhere between 8:30 and 5:00. I needed someone to be at the house until I got there, so I had my son stay until my wife got home. She left work early and got home, but the technician still hasn't shown up. I got home from work and waited there. The technician didn't call and didn't show up on the scheduled time that was set. I called American Home Shield at 5 o'clock because that was the cut-off time. They wanted to have me wait an extra half an hour, which I wasn't gonna do 'cause I had other things to do. I told the lady at American Home Shield that I wanted a refund for the technician not showing up and to reschedule another technician to show up the following day.
I have no problems with him. The first guy, on the other hand, wasted a whole day for three people, and American Home Shield did not issue a refund. The lady breezed over the comment that I made about the refund and just rescheduled the service for the following day. After that whole experience, I shopped around for other companies that provide the same service, and they were cheaper.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Diego. We’re glad the second technician resolved the issue quickly and that our customer service team was responsive and helpful. So, I paid for a new part, they sent it out, and the Sears tech took care of it when he came out. About two months ago, I had a service call on my washer that was leaking and the guy that fixed it said we were okay. He checked and he showed me. A week later, the same thing started leaking and I just didn't call American Home Shield. I found out, after 30 days, you gotta pay again. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield when one of the burners went out on my stove and it took All Brands Appliance Repair forever to get me on the schedule. None of their people on the phone was compassionate. My stove was out for a whole month, but nobody there cared. "This is what we got and that's it. I'm sorry. You can get your money back. But yeah, we're not gonna try to go the extra steps to help you at all." That was the worst customer service I ever seen in my life. It took about a week, but the man that came out was nice. He was pleasant when he arrived. However, this is the second time that that eye went out on my stove and I told All Brands it was the same eye that they fixed last time.
I thought that when the man comes, he'll already have what he needs to fix it. He came out and said, "Oh, same problem we had last time. We're gonna have to order the part." after the man ordered the part, I didn't hear from All Brands. Nobody reached back out to me. I had to call them to find out if the part had come in and that's when the lady put me on the schedule, which was another week or so out from getting it put in. By then, I was three weeks out without having my stove right. When the guy was supposed to come back out, I had to go to work and I had already told the people at my job that I had to leave for about an hour or two. I asked All Brands if they could give me a courtesy call of 20 to 30 minutes. They said, "No, we can't do that." I needed my stove and they couldn't make a concession. The only thing they could do was reschedule and they put me out for a whole 'nother week.
When my washer went out, I put my work order in and American Home Shield tried to give me All Brands again. When I told the rep I didn't want All Brands to come out, he honored it and I'm grateful for that. American Home Shield was very supportive and gave me a company called Adept and their guy came out today. This was done in one week. I put in my work order, and the people came out just like that. That's the kind of service people need.

I submitted a claim for my ceiling fans with AHS. They sent somebody out. But, since my ceiling fan was working and making a lot of noise, they said that it’s not covered until it's completely nonfunctional. And they're usually not like that with most stuff. Years past, I had one that did that and then they replaced it. But this time, they said, “No. The way that it's written now, with this new one is it has to be a nonfunctional form.” If the blades are still rolling even if it's making noise, they won't cover it. But with other stuff, like on the plumbing, the AHS warranty works great. They send somebody out quickly. It used to be better value for the money, but now they've gone up so much. Then they also want you to do a monthly instead of a pay-in-advance subscription.

When the techs came out, it was for my washing machine. The whole center piece came unattached, so when you put the clothes in and the water filled up, that whole center piece just floated around. It wouldn't agitate. You couldn't put it back on. The screws got lost. The man glued the agitator back in place and told me I couldn't use it for 24 hours, that I had to let the glue sit. It's working. I haven't had any problems.
For the most part, I'm pleased with AHS’s contractors. But there is a situation where I was not pleased at all. I had a small leak from my bathroom into my closet, discovered when I noticed damp clothing. After calling American Home Shield, they dispatched EcoDry, a contractor who demolished more than necessary parts of my bathroom, claiming a $13,000 charge they assured would be insurance-covered. However, my claim was denied as they classified it as an ongoing issue, which was frustrating as I consistently keep check of those areas only to see issues with all but my main bathroom while swapping seasonal clothing. The contractors just quit answering my calls altogether. American Home Shield was saying they couldn't do anything without it being an active problem. Now, I’ve called other plumbers out to come and fix it.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

My pool company said that I needed a new filter and some other things. I called American Home Shield and they had Erin's Pool come out. They said the problem was not the filter. That's one thing that I've been meaning to call Home Shield about. I pay too much money and every time somebody come out, it's totally different from what my pool company or any other company said, so I don't know if they're hiring these companies just to do the minimum.
I had to get my AC replaced last year, and they have been coming back and forth. I knew I needed a new AC because this house was built in 2003, and I've been here since 2013. So I knew I needed a new AC instead of me paying $125 for them to come back and forth. They had someone come out in April and then it went out again in August. So, they hired this company that company came out. They were very efficient. They said it was a compressor and it was gonna take two weeks for them to get the compressor. So I went ahead and purchased a new AC. I got approved. It cost $10,000, but after I got this taken care of and I spoke with American Home Shield, they said, “Oh, I don't understand why you did that. You’re Platinum. You have the Platinum deal. We would have, at least, put 4,000 towards that.” But they're forcing their customers to do that.
I have two accounts with American Home Shield. I have a condo, and same thing happened with that. I had problems with the AC and they kept sending contractors out that wouldn't even get on the roof. I explained to them. “Oh, we have to get this approved for somebody else.” They barely spoke any English. They have somebody taking the calls from a different country. So I had to come out-of-pocket for that. It was 700 and something dollars. I'm very disappointed with American Home Shield. They're just patching stuff up. The only thing they replaced was the garage door. The price is too high for not getting what I'm paying for. Their rate went up last month.
Thank you for choosing us as your home warranty provider. We’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you’ve experienced. American Home Shield sent out Efficient Air for my AC claim. They have been out twice and their techs were on time. They were professional, friendly, informative, and currently, I'm not having a problem with my AC. In contrast, my experience with American Home Shield has not been great. I've had two experiences with my air conditioning in two weeks, which happened on a Friday afternoon both times. Living in Arizona, that puts an exclamation point on everything that I'm saying.
Everything is outsourced with American Home Shield and I could not get a number for anyone other than where the call was being outsourced to. They were following their scripts and doing what they knew how to do. They assigned someone right away, but it was aggravating if you were sitting in a house that was quite warm, and you were asked to wait because the assigned person could not come until the following Wednesday in Arizona where the temperatures were over 111. So, I called back and I was assigned to someone else. I'm disabled and my sister's disabled. So, they put me to another team to try to find someone who could come out because it was going to be the weekend. They asked me to give them four hours and I did. Then at 4'oclock, I called back and the option they gave me was to give them more time. Then, I did not hear back from them.
But I checked an email that said that they’d assigned me to Efficient Air. And by the grace of God, somebody at Efficient Air called me late on a Saturday afternoon and got me scheduled for Monday. So, Efficient Air was on point as far as trying to get their customers taken care of. But American Home Shield just sent me an email when I was already frantically suffering from heat. But the air conditioning was fixed and it ran great up until Friday again. This time, it was early in the day and a weekend with a holiday was approaching. So, they called back Efficient Air and Efficient Air got me, as a priority, back on their schedule for their very first available appointment, which was Tuesday morning because of the holiday. They were not open Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. So, that was just my luck. But they got me taken care of the next business day.
When I spoke to American Home Shield, I told them we were looking at a three-day weekend but they did not give me the option of putting me in a hotel over the weekend. Once they knew that Efficient Air had gotten their message, however they contacted each other, and I was on the schedule there, they were done with me. The company I had before American Home Shield was OneGuard and they bought OneGuard. I have been with this company for over 15 years as it's gone through the different ownerships. My experience with their outsourcing is enough to where I'm considering not having a home warranty anymore. Also, my monthly payments with American Home Shield isn't much more than I used to pay. However, my service fees are a lot higher. When techs come out, it's 125, where before it was 80 bucks. But there are other things that American Home Shield now covers, like Freon in air conditioning, that the OneGuard didn't.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience with us. We hope you continue to enjoy the coverage the home warranty provides.

I prefer doing online claims to American Home Shield than over the phone. It's more direct, it's quicker, and it's straight to the point. I did the dishwwasher claim online. My brother-in-law's mother has had American Home Shield for years and she was happy with their service, so I signed up with them. I had an electrical issue and they assigned Fix It, then a young man by the name of Q came out. Q was a kind man and he was quick about what he did. He did a good job. On the other hand, I've got electronic devices that no longer work and I tried to file a claim for them, but I was told I didn't have coverage for them. It's frustrating to pay for a service I can't use.
I've also had the work done by American Home Shield in the past that I wasn't happy with. The company that came out to do the work tried to insinuate the problem I incurred from the installation was already there. I don't believe that to be true either and while I didn't raise a fuss about it, I was very unhappy with the installation from Whitney LLC.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Roger. We’re glad to hear that Q from Fix It provided professional and efficient service, and that your electrical issue was resolved. We’re sorry to hear about the earlier challenges with Whitney LLC and the frustration around coverage for your electronic devices. There's a low standard for the companies that home warranty companies work with. Usually, they're 1- or 2-star rated if people Google them, but when American Home Shield had Ancient Service come out in regards to our dryer, they were good. The service guy identified the problem, and he fixed it the first time around. So, he was knowledgeable, and he took care of it. Usually, it takes a couple times. I'm brand-new to American Home Shield. I come from a different home warranty company where I've had horrible experiences. With AHS, it was very easy, and they fixed it quick.

The gentleman I dealt with was good and very precise of what he was going to do. He also messaged me when he was on his way. I am satisfied with American Home Shield and I also told my daughter-in-law about them, so she purchased the warranty.

I had discussed getting a home warranty with an appliance repairman that had come come out. He said he has dealt with different home warranty companies and he recommended to get American Home Shield. He said they do a real good job with everybody. I signed up with American Home Shield and they have helped me out. I have recommended them. I pay $63 a month and it's like any other kind of insurance. The only thing that I don't like is I have to pay $125 to get somebody to come out here if I've got something that needs fixing. Sometimes they don't cost that much to fix it. I could go to a different company for the veterans and I wouldn't have to pay the $125 fee. Right now, I've got a broken door on my dishwasher. My dishwasher is not that old and I can still use it, but I've got to get it fixed. But I'll have to pay $125 just to get a contractor to come out here and it may not cost $50 to fix it.
The cost could be a little bit cheaper. We could drop it down to $75 for someone to come out here 'cause they're out here five minutes, look around, and that's it. But I get it, American Home Shield has to pay somebody to come out and look. The biggest problem I had was right at the hottest time of year, they were so busy. The contractor didn't get to come that day. It took them three days to get here. It was inconvenience to be without air, but that happens. We're a smaller town so it's a little harder to get people as fast as in a town where they got more vendors.
I've got their app on my phone and if something goes wrong, I put it in and they get back at me within minutes. The minute that you go on there, they have all your information already so you don’t have to give it again. When I did it the last time, I got a phone call right back and within 15 minutes, they already had me hooked up with Buffington's and told me who would be coming out.
Buffington Bros has been great. When my central air went out, a repairman came out and checked it over. He fixed it pretty fast, and did real good job. He was a really nice guy and very informative. He told me exactly what was going on with it. At first, he thought it was something else. But our unit was 12 years old, so he wanted to make sure there was nothing else going on with it, and it was capacitor. On another claim, American Home Shield gave me a new refrigerator. Our old refrigerator was two years old and it quit. It was a Menard's brand and we didn't know it at the time that they don't even carry parts for them.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

My American Home Shield experience depends on who stopped by my home. It seems that they're not vetting them correctly, and they do not justify what they intend to do sometimes. For example, the first tech who came out for my refrigerator wrote a story about our fridge. He said that you had push it, then the door was broken, and none of them were true. There was no sign that the door was damaged. The second person who stopped by for the same situation was from a different company that had the worst review on the internet. But their guy was focused and was able to fix the issue without any additional charge. Other than that, the price that I pay American Home Shield is pretty high. It's twice the price I could get from other companies. But their reps are pretty good and professional. I am happy with them, but not with some of their servicers.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Arian. We’re glad the second technician was able to resolve the issue effectively and that you had a positive interaction with our customer service team. They came out the next day and they were very prompt. The tech was very professional and knowledgeable. The garage door opener has been working good since the service. But the opener itself was over 25 years old. So, I was kind of thinking they would replace it because if it breaks again in the next six months, I don't have another $100 to put down on it.

American Home Shield sent contractors to service a dishwasher and a refrigerator. The guy came out four times, troubleshooting the issue, and was unable to resolve the issue with the dishwasher. I was given a replacement for that. Then, the refrigerator had a freezing problem. It wouldn't make any ice. They replaced the ice maker itself and the tray that it sits in. But after 24 hours, I waited for the thing to make ice and it still didn't make ice.
So, American Home Shield has now sent out a second company. They would arrive tomorrow to replace another part that they think could possibly be causing the issue. After the first guy came out a handful of times, I was expecting the device to be replaced. It’s stated within what's advertised by American Home Shield. But they opted to send out a second company, which I didn't know was a part of the deal. I was disappointed. I didn't think this was a part of the process.
The first guy was very professional with the work he came out and performed. He was very thorough and explained to me what was going on. For a refrigerator that has an ice-making problem, it’s hard to troubleshoot that when you come out, ‘cause after you replace something, you would then have to wait until ice is made, which takes time. So, it's not like the technician can sit in my house and get the issue resolved. So, I'm very understanding to that point.
He's been out five times. That seemed a bit much for me. Five is an adequate amount of time to come out and give it your best shot. I was told that if that doesn't happen, that if it's unable to be fixed, that it will be replaced. But they said, “We're gonna send out another company to come to your house and do this all over again.” I wasn't expecting that. Moving forward, I know now what to expect.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Rodney. We’re glad the dishwasher issue was ultimately resolved and appreciate your recognition of the technician’s professionalism. We understand your frustration with the decision to seek a second opinion on the refrigerator instead of moving directly to a replacement. While our goal is always to resolve issues efficiently, we sometimes dispatch another provider to ensure all options are explored before making a final determination. Your feedback is important, and we’ll use it to improve clarity around our process. If you have any questions or need further assistance, we’re here to help.

I called in because I would set my thermostat on 72, and it would stay on 74. It would go down to 72 at 9:00 or 10 o'clock at night. Although it would occasionally reach the right temperature late at night, the issue persisted, leading me to call for service. The experience I had with the selected repair company, A-US Air, was less than satisfactory. Initially, the technician failed to contact me as promised, forcing me to call them the following day to confirm the appointment time. When the technician finally arrived, his demeanor was unprofessional, lacking basic courtesies like greetings or an apology for the appointment confusion.
During the service, the technician did not thoroughly check the vents or ensure the temperature settings were functioning correctly before leaving. This lack of thoroughness was concerning, especially since I never received an invoice or report detailing the work performed. Repeated attempts to contact the company for this documentation were ignored, with my calls going unanswered or abruptly disconnected. Adding to the frustration, the technician was condescending, suggesting issues with my home's insulation rather than addressing the AC problem itself. I've built this home in 2006 and it has always been running fine until recently, indicating the technician's commentary on my home’s setup was unfounded.
Despite paying for American Home Shield, I had to consider getting another technician to rectify what their contractor couldn't, which was both frustrating and costly. Communication mishaps, compounded by a lack of professionalism from the technician, certainly marred my experience with American Home Shield this time. While my primary goal was to have the air conditioner fixed and documentation received, the unprofessional conduct and poor follow-up left a lasting impression. It should not fall on me to chase after what should be standard customer service practices, especially when dealing with issues that impact my home's comfort and energy efficiency.

We lived in Alaska. We were selling our house there to move to Montana. Our realtor bought a home warranty program for us because she said it never fails. We put the house on the market and something happens. Sure enough, within days of putting the house on the market, the water heater started leaking. It needed to be replaced. American Home Shield came in and took care of it. We were astonished. We haven't even been with them for a week, yet they took care of it. We were impressed. So, when we got to Montana and bought this house, I told my husband, “We're buying a home warranty. We're not gonna go without one.” It seemed the right thing to do.
I had two claims through American Home Shield in the last couple months, because I think that's how it works. If I had a problem, I would have another problem. Our microwave went out too. That ticket has been a joke. That guy rescheduled with me eight times. On the other hand, AHS scheduled the appointment for the air conditioner for the next day, thank God, because we were going out of state the following day. I needed to get it fixed. We woke up at 1:30 in the morning and our house was 86 degrees. We went out and realized that the air conditioner was not kicking on. I called AHS and they scheduled for a contractor to come out. He was here the next day. He said he would be here at 10 o'clock that morning. He called me and said he was on his way. He showed up, did the job, and left. It was fantastic.
I like that everything in the house is covered. I don't have to call different people to try and find somebody to come and fix it if something goes wrong. The convenience of it is fantastic. However, the callout charges are getting expensive. It's a turnoff. But if we didn't have the home warranty, and we called somebody out, we would have to pay that anyway. But we're paying on top of it to have the home warranty. And when you're paying $60 to $80 a callout, that's crazy. However, it wouldn't prevent me from getting it, because if something major happened, it covers the cost. Our microwave needed to be replaced because the contractor said the seal on the door went out. My microwave was $600. AHS paid for it to be replaced. That covered the cost that we paid for the home warranty for the year. It's nice to know that we have the protection, especially for the boiler and things like that.
A couple of years ago, our ice maker and fridge went out. AHS sent somebody out to fix it, and they did. Three months later, it broke again. AHS sent somebody out. They didn't charge us for the follow-up. The guy came out and fixed it again, but it broke again. They came out and said, “We're just gonna replace the fridge.” They took the old fridge and had to buy a new one. That was great. That year, that paid for itself. If we did not have the home warranty and had to buy a new fridge, the fridges were $1,200. I wish AHS would cover the water pump for the cistern system, because it's part of the electronics in the house.
We tell people all the time that they should get AHS. It's like having insurance, but it's insurance that I'm not forced to have. Our house is 15 years old. It has all the original equipment. We have all the stuff serviced when they're supposed to. Eventually, it's gonna go out and that will be a huge expense. So, I'm all about it. When my parents moved here to Montana, we got one for them on their condo.

I talked with American Home Shield when we were having problems with our smoke detectors. I had changed the policy because the monthly cost of the policy was going up. I went to a slightly cheaper monthly fee, and it turned out that the smoke detectors weren't covered in that. I wish I had known that when I switched. It would have been smart for me, but it would also be smart perhaps for AHS to just say, "Okay. With this change of policy, here's what we used to cover that we are no longer covering," or "Here is how your coverage will be different. You will lose this, or you will have to pay extra for that." That would have been something good to know. We are definitely gonna go back to our old policy. While the monthly cost went up a lot, the service providers that AHS sends us are great. The fact that they make the phone calls and do the arranging is really great, too.

We've had problems over the years with our air conditioning system where it would work and then on a really hot day, it would stop working, and then it wouldn't work for a day or two, then it would start working again. About two years ago, we spent about $1,500 getting the system serviced, and for the last two years, it's been fine. About two weeks ago, all of a sudden, it started that weird behavior. On a really hot afternoon, it stopped. It kept blowing air but it was not cooling. I panicked and I put in a service request to American Home Shield. The next day, it started working just fine. So, the tech came out about a week later. We canceled the original service guy because they did show up but they didn't have insurance. I told the guy who came out about how the AC wasn't working, but it is working.
He checked the system over briefly, and he said it's not unknown. Our HVAC units are on the roof of the building and near each other. And apparently, when it gets really hot, sometimes it triggers something inside the compressor that shuts it off. That may be the problem but he said, “It's not just you.” They didn't really do anything except reassure me that there was nothing wrong, and it's fine. I just turned it on half an hour ago when it was 83 in here, and it's now down to 78. So, everything's working fine.
Overall, it's fairly easy for me to access online and book service appointments to American Home Shield. One thing I don't really like is, we had a very expensive plan, and it turned out we ended up with a much less expensive plan that covered about the same thing. We were spending over $1,000 a year with the plan that we're now spending just a couple of hundred dollars on. Last year, they changed the rates, but online, you could get the same plan for less money.
I couldn't cancel the plan and start the new plan and have full coverage because it takes 30 days, apparently. I had to keep both plans active, so I started the new annual plan at $25 even though I had the old plan at $35, and I had to wait a month until the new plan kicked in, and then cancel the old plan. It's kind of annoying. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very responsive. They get people out here. If the people aren't acceptable, they get someone else out.
Your insights are incredibly helpful in guiding our efforts to improve and ensure we’re meeting your expectations. We're committed to delivering the best possible service, and your feedback plays a vital role in helping us achieve that goal.
We look forward to continuing to serve you and strengthening our relationship in the future.

American Home Shield sent Appliance All Stars who then looked at our washer. My son was here with them, and they said that parts needed to be ordered. There were two separate parts. They left the parts on the washer. My son said, “Well, I think he's gonna come back in and tell me what he's gonna do, but he never came back in and just left.” They said that they were gonna put an order in to American Home Shield. That took two days, and it wasn't done correctly. This was a Wednesday and my washer had already been out for about five days. They had first offered someone else to do this, and then I guess that person was sick in the hospital, which is understandable. They had to change it to the Appliance All Star people, so it was an extra two days.
It just went on and on for another week. They finally came back after me calling a million times. They said that the parts can't be ordered, and that they were no longer made. We just bought that washer six months ago, so that was disturbing. We never saw Appliance All Stars again. I called them three times to try and get answers from them, and they never called me back. After two weeks of this, American Home Shield sent an email saying that they would replace the washer or give us a gift card to Lowe's to go buy a new washer, which we took the gift card to replace it.

I couldn’t get anybody to help me, even American Home Shield. So, we're upset. The technicians finally came and supposedly fixed the dishwasher, but it still didn’t work. For the dryer, they ordered parts, and they never came. When they ordered the second time, two sets of parts were ordered but when they diagnosed it as being the motor, it wasn’t that at all. It was just a fuse in the back that they could have fixed the first time they came out. But nobody actually looked.
After the right diagnosis, both appliances have been fine, but it was awful. American Home Shield should find better technicians than Sears. They were horrible. I asked if we could just go with somebody else. But if we do that, we have to start the process all over again and it’ll be even longer.

I submitted a claim online with AHS for my fans and navigating the site was challenging because it doesn't give you the specifics. All I could do was hit “other”. But the tech who came out was fine. There was one portion that he said he couldn't do. But everything else has been fine.
My uncle was using American Home Shield also and then he subsequently changed. This will be my last time, too. Because one, it keeps going up. And there has been a number of issues with American Home Shield for me - the lack of correspondence, the patronizing, the cynical conversation, just not doing what they said they were gonna do. This October will be my last one.
Dear Terrance,
Thank you for contacting American Home Shield! We sincerely apologize for the frustration. A service specialist will review the service request and follow up with you directly. Thank you for contacting AHS!

We had scheduled the contractor two weeks in advance to replace a card in a dishwasher. I had my son come down from Los Angeles, a two and a half hour drive, to meet with them, and he got there on Friday. They're supposed to be there on Saturday. We got a call from the appliance people, and they said, "I'm sorry, we can't come out 'cause we didn't get the part." We could have got a bit sooner notice so my son didn't have to spend five hours of driving just because someone didn't have a part. I said, "It'd be another month or so before my son gets back down there."
They just canceled everything like it never happened, which ticked me off. I said, "I will contact you when I know when I have somebody at that particular residence." I did. I contacted them, said, "I'm gonna have someone there this weekend," and they said, "Everything's been canceled. We can't come out." I would have to get ahold of Anerican Home Shield and set up a new appointment. So, we started all over again. Hopefully, tomorrow morning, they have the part because I haven't heard anything. Sometime between 9:00 and noon tomorrow, they will come out and put that in there. I have another gentleman making a special trip to that particular residence. It's a winter residence for us. We will find out if they show up on time and if they have the part.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience with your appointment and interactions with our staff. Your time matters, and we’re committed to resolving your dishwasher claim promptly. A service specialist will be reaching out to assist you further.

I had some issues with my sensors and Amin Maintenance came to fix them. He was able to repair them the same day. I’m glad he came because he came out and helped us before on another service call. So, when I saw him, I kind of like smiled. I was glad to see him. I hope whoever has a service call, they could get him. They'll look forward to good results. I’d recommend American Home Shield.

In my daughter's bathroom, if you flushed the toilet or emptied the shower, water was coming up through the sink. We made a claim with American Home Shield and the tech they sent out snaked it. I liked him and everything is fine now. Also, after a year of roof leaks, I have to put a new roof on my house. I put in a roofing claim last year and nobody came out. But I paid for it. When you pay extra for roofing coverage, and you pay the $125, but nobody comes out, that's wrong. Aside from that, I asked for the refund multiple times and I never got it. So, I’m disappointed.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed experience with us. It's wonderful to hear that your plumbing issue was resolved efficiently, which speaks well of the professional service provided by our contractor. However, we sincerely regret the difficulties you faced with the roofing claim and any inconvenience it may have caused. Customer satisfaction is paramount to us.

My AC wasn't operating efficiently and it was having some issues with the dampers inside of the ducts opening and closing when they're supposed to. The work order through American Home Shield was opened on May 1. Somebody came out on the 9th of May for the first one, and evaluated what was wrong. They said that there were some parts that needed to be replaced. They had to get with American Home Shield to see if the warranty would cover them. About a month and a half later, I was trying to call American Home Shield, and I found out the work order is complete. I just thought we were waiting for parts to come in. American Home Shield said they didn't receive any paperwork from the contractor. That paperwork was never turned in, so nothing moved forward on it.
So, I played the phone tag game between American Home Shield. I would call them and they would say that they have to get ahold of the contractor and that they would call me back or the contractor would call me back. Then no one would call me back. After doing that about three times, I asked for a three-way call because somewhere along the lines, the ball gets dropped. After that, Mike, the owner of the repair company, called me and said, “Hey. We dropped the ball on this, so we're gonna make it right. I'm not gonna go through American Home Shield. My company's gonna cover it. We're gonna pay for it to replace these parts.” That was great.
However, in the process, I'd already submitted a complaint against American Home Shield. Here we are, three months later, with an AC issue that's unresolved. I live in southwest Georgia. It gets hot in the summertime here. So, trying to work through all that, Mike sent another contractor out who looked at it. He said two motors need to be replaced. He took pictures of them. So, that way, they can order them. He told me he would get back with me once he had parts in hand and then he would schedule a time that was good for him to come back out and install them. I didn't hear anything from him. It had been about two weeks. So, I called him. He said they were in. I had a Thursday, a Friday or a Saturday that was available for him to come out. I didn't hear anything, so I called on Friday.
I got ahold of Mike and he told me, “Well, I was trying not to go through American Home Shield, but you made this complaint against us.” I told him I didn't complain on them. I complained on American Home Shield because it's more of the companies that they choose sometimes. But he said due to the complaint, they're no longer gonna honor where he was gonna fix it.
In the meantime, the report that they turned in talked about a piece that was missing off of the system, and that was what was in the thing. American Home Shield wasn't going to pay for a piece that was missing. I told them a piece isn't missing. It was just these two motors that need to be replaced. Within that whole process, nothing ended up coming of it. So, then I ended up calling them back. Whoever I talked to said he was just gonna close that work order and open up a new one. I would have to pay the $100 service fee again but then since nothing was ever done with Mike's Clean Air, the $100 from that service order was gonna be refunded. I haven't received it yet. This is just two days ago. He said it would take three to five days.
I was shopping around for other home warranty companies. I was gonna cancel my policy because of this. I have had other claims with American Home Shield that took six months to reach a conclusion just because American Home Shield seems more interested in just throwing as many parts as they can at an appliance before finally breaking down and choosing to cover to replace it. I've had a washing machine where they had guys out and they tore it apart three or four times. Finally, the technician’s like, “I'm not taking this apart again.” American Home Shield finally decided they wanted to pay to replace it.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Fred. We’re glad the technicians were ultimately able to assist, but we’re truly sorry for the delays and communication issues you encountered. We understand how frustrating it can be when follow-up falls short—especially when it affects your comfort and peace of mind. The tech came out and did an assessment, and he said he had to order the parts. But I didn't know the parts were getting delivered to me. Then, it took him 30 days to come back to tell me he can't fix the washer. It ticked me off because when he first came on the 8th and saw that he couldn't fix it, he should have said so. He ordered some kind of tension belt, some rods and something else, and when he came, he said he couldn’t get the plate off. It was bent and unfixable. This is the same guy who came the first time. He made me wait for two months for a washer that we could have solved on the first day he came. I had to call American Home Shield four times, and I finally got a lady named Crystal. She would not give up. So, she solved the problem.
Sears told me they couldn’t fix it and the guy said the unit was unfixable, but they never reported that to American Home Shield. The other three times I called, I was told someone would contact me within 48 hours, and that never happened. I called back frustrated because it was taking too long. Crystal finally contacted Sears directly and found out that they never submitted that it was unfixable and needed to be replaced. Once they told her it could not be replaced, she was right on it. She sent me information on ordering a new washer. But after that, I never heard anything back.
This was my first claim with American Home Shield, and it was frustrating. I kept calling and was told the same thing every time, that they hadn’t heard back from Sears yet. I was repeatedly told to wait 48 hours. I finally received an email about ordering a new washer and submitted it. I was told I’d hear back within 48 hours, but that time passed and I still didn’t receive any follow-up email.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

The refrigerator was not working and there was an issue with the dishwasher. We asked American Home Shield for a service and we had a virtual visit wherein the diagnosis was done by the tech over the phone. He directed me to show him the refrigerator and the dishwasher. He decided that the reason for the refrigerator's problem was we needed a new compressor. Then, American Home Shield calculated and figured out that I needed to pay extra $527 because it was above the limitation on the refrigerator. They never showed me how they arrived at the number 527.2, but that was okay. So I paid the money then the technician came in, and couldn't fix the refrigerator saying that the compressor was fine and we didn't need a new one. He said that there were some minor things that needed to be done, and disappeared. Then, for months, I was getting very confusing signals and refrigerator never got it fixed.
So I put the $527 in dispute because the job was not done. I asked to get a calculation of what was going on, why the money was charged, and why the refrigerator is still not working. So it was going back and forth and back, we had many calls, and we talked to many people. Finally, American Home Shield offered the solution. We would find our own repairmen or company, and they should do the job. Then we pay them and American Home Shield would reimburse us. So now, we looked for a technician and one is supposed to come in today to check.
I was with American Shield for 27 years and I was satisfied. Everything was reasonably all right. But this time I don't know what happened. There's a number of people involved who were completely clueless. They wouldn't return calls, would not commit, and didn't do what I asked them to do. Bottom line, the claim for the refrigerator was put in July 8th, and we're in September now. Also, it turned out that I had to have surgery and my wife was overwhelmed running back and forth in trying to prepare food and to conduct normal things without a refrigerator.
The dishwasher was a different story. The technician came in, diagnosed things that needed to be done, then made an appointment to come and work on the dishwasher. Then on the same day that I was expecting him to come, he called and said that they canceled the appointment because I put this $527.2 in dispute on the refrigerator. But that had nothing to do with the dishwasher. So, all in all, the experience this time is a zero. American Home Shield used to be very good. But my recent experience with them was extremely bad.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience regarding the refrigerator repairs. I would be pleased to speak with you further to address any concerns or questions you may have.

I'm not a big American Home Shield fan. The first vendor for the dryer diagnosed the problem. It was more like an online diagnosis, and it was a very neat and innovative feature. He was able to diagnose it very accurately just from me FaceTiming him with it and him hearing the noise. That was a great feature. He ordered parts and on the website, it showed that parts were ordered. I kept calling that vendor afterwards, and they said they still had not received the parts yet from American Home Shield. That went on for a month and then, all of a sudden, I get a thing from American Home Shield saying, "Okay. We've closed off the service order," and asked me for a survey. But before I could do the survey, it disappeared.
American Home Shield reassigned the dryer repair to Able. When the guy came out, he diagnosed it pretty much the same way, ordered the parts, and this time, the parts came in about a week and a half. I was out at the time when they did come in, but as soon as I was back in, we scheduled and the technician came out and changed out the parts. The dryer has been working fine. In this instance Able and American Home Shield did fine. From the time I placed the original service to waiting 30 days to not get anything to getting these people involved, seven weeks had passed so that wasn't a favorable piece of mine with American Home Shield.
Part of my plan with American Home Shield is that I bought extended service to cover ejector pumps, which I understood that would be the ejector pump part of my sewage system. I had a problem with that and I paid my $125. It took a month for them to find a rep. They couldn't find a rep, so I suggested one who had installed the system come, and they said that would be fine. So they came out and diagnosed the unit. They weren't able to fix the unit because they had to get clearance from American Home Shield first to order the parts.
I was charged $500 just to make that service request and then American Home Shield said, "Hey. Well, this is an outside sewage ejector. We don't handle outside sewage ejectors, only inside sewage ejectors." So I told them, "My policy does not discriminate between the two. And you've been charging me for four or five years for sewage ejector service, and if you charge me that service and you don't cover it because it's an outside unit, although you didn't even say it was outside, I should at least be refunded what I paid for the additional service 'cause I bought insurance for something that's not covered." But they still said they were not gonna cover it.
I had to pay the firm who came out the first time, who could have fixed it right then and there, another $500. So, I had $1100 by the time I put the co-pay in upfront on this for something that would have only been $500 in the first place. Plus, God knows how much I've paid extra over the five years that I've had American Home Shield to handle this. So, to me, that was just a waste of my time. It was mild scale fraud, and it left me with a bitter taste. I've been trying to shop for another warranty service as a result of that. But due to time limitations, I haven't got there.
Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience regarding the dryer repairs. I would be pleased to speak with you further to address any concerns or questions you may have.

Our oven was not working. FNA Appliance Repair came out and fixed it. They were awesome. They asked us for the oven make prior to coming, so when they came, they had the part that was needed. We've never had anybody ask us for the number of the oven before. We've had other things like our microwave fixed, and the service people would have to come. They would look at it and then they would get the part. So, I was impressed that FNA thought presumptively and got the number of our appliances so that when they came, they had parts that may have been used or needed on that one. They got our stove working.
This claim was one of the better ones that we've had. They were prompt. They got to us right away. So, I was super pleased with this latest service. We've had American Home Shield for years. We told American Home Shield the model of our refrigerator that needed repair, and they assigned this person. He took one look at it and said, "I don't handle these kinds of models," and he left. I'm already six days without a refrigerator. Then Sears came out. They took one look and they said they were gonna order the parts.. They claimed the part was ordered, and I was calling on a regular basis. Between calling American Home Shield and Sears, I determined after a couple of days that the part was not really ordered. They were still looking for the part because the manufacturer discontinued the part. American Home Shield said we have three weeks to try to find it. So, I was supposed to be five weeks without a refrigerator.
Finally, after a lot of pushing and calling lots of times, American Home Shield agreed that it was time that they would allow me for an appliance replacement instead. About two hours after they left, I got an email from Sears saying they found the part and it's ordered and it's on the way. American Home Shield kept the replacement going because they didn't pay me the money. I got two more emails from Sears in the next couple of days saying the part is delayed. Today, I have an email from them that also says the part is delayed.
There's absolutely no way to expedite matters in the case of emergencies or in case of something like being without a refrigerator that would need immediate attention. Their vendors were clearly not prepared by sending me one that couldn't cover the appliance. They should not have a three-week window to try to find a replacement part when you have a broken appliance. As far as the customer service, they are required to read scripts and they're not allowed to do anything out of the box. There was one nice person that called back, though. AHS also has increased the price over the last few years a whole bunch of times to the point where I'm considering canceling especially when I have headaches.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

I've had American Home Shield since we moved in, which is about ten years. We stopped their service a little bit last year for about six months because their price went too high. We didn't see the value in it at that point because there are so many other places that have lower monthly payments. But everything’s been great the second time around. They doubled the price again this year, but it's still way below what I was paying previously. So okay with that. But if they go much higher than what they're at now, I'll probably change again. It all comes down to the monthly cost. I understand that their cost is going up, too. But that's a them problem, not a me problem.

I submitted a claim with AHS and Kemp Heating and AC was here the next morning. The tech was good. However, I thought, when I paid my $125, that that would cover whatever they did. But I had to pay more because he had to put in Freon. AHS only covers 1 pound of Freon. I'm 75 years old and I bought AHS because I have to live on Social Security only. So when you say you have that deductible, and then up comes this additional cost, it really hurt me as far as my bank account. To top it all off, I put the claim in twice and my granddaughter tried to cancel one of them for me because I didn't know how to do that. She said she got it canceled, but they took out two $125. The tech ordered a part and installed it, and then it started working again. I couldn't ask for better. However, AHS needs to get more contractors. They only have one for electrical and one for plumbing in our area.

The technician from Myers Comfort determined that my washing machine can’t be fixed because the part is no longer available. After a few days, I hadn’t heard from American Home Shield, so I called them. They had it noted that the technician was supposed to return to the house, and I told the representative that the technician said he couldn’t fix it and that he was putting that in. I called Myers, and the woman figured out that the technician had accidentally marked that he was supposed to come back out, when in reality the part couldn’t be found. She was very nice and said she would get everything in the pipeline so I could finally get a new washing machine. I was a little put out, but people make mistakes, and it was merely an accident that the technician accidentally put down that he was supposed to come back out. I liked the technician and he did a good job.
My main issue with American Home Shield is how long everything takes. I found out two Tuesdays ago that my washing machine wasn’t working, but they couldn’t get a repairman to my house until eight days later, the following Tuesday. Right now, I also don’t know how long it will take them to offer me a replacement washing machine, or whether I’ll have an issue with the amount they offer compared to what I had.
In the past, American Home Shield replaced a hot water heater, and that seemed fine. The next was my air conditioner. It went out in the middle of the summer, and they couldn’t get anyone out for a long time. I ended up using my own technician, but American Home Shield paid for at least most of it. It's frustrating that you pay, but it takes a long time from when you call until a repairman comes out, especially in situations like 95-degree weather without air conditioning or when you need a washing machine.

The two outlets on the front and the back of my house were not working. I tried to submit a claim online, but I didn't do it properly so I called. A representative put it in online for me. Service Electric was the contractor that was assigned to our claim and they were great. They showed up on time. The tech called before he arrived and he identified himself, and came in and identified the two locations that needed to be checked. He took care of the problem, which was, according to him, pretty simple.
I wanna increase my AHS plan to the next level because I really like it. I've purchased three homes since I've lived in Arizona. American Home Shield's plan has been, by far, the most efficient. An easy to use, friendly customer service. I haven't had any issues when I call. I like that they treat me like a human being and not just a number. It's been amazing.
We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience with American Home Shield! The air conditioner was not cooling anymore. Shamanski Air Conditioning was assigned by AHS for the claim and the tech who came out was courteous. He came about the time he said he would come. He looked at it, diagnosed it, and then told me that it needed to be replaced and they would contact me. AHS is a good company. I'd recommend it. I like the ease of getting an appointment made. But they can have more active communication on what's going on. I occasionally get, "Your contract has been assigned," but that's pretty much it.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us so thoughtfully. We're delighted to hear that your overall satisfaction supports your 15-year relationship with us, and we appreciate your candid suggestions regarding communication improvements on claims. The washing machine was putting grease all over my clothes. This is the first claim I've ever submitted a claim to AHS and it was easy but the process was not. I called on the 4th of August. A man came out from Sears on the 5th. He was having a dispute with them on the phone about which parts he needed, because he felt that one of the parts did not come together. He had to order four parts total.
He set up my installation for the 22nd of August, which I thought was pretty far out. But they said they don't have a warehouse where they keep parts, that the parts were gonna be shipped to my house. I got the parts on the 14th. I called them if they can move my appointment up. Instead of moving the appointment up, they moved it back to the 26th.
On the 26th, the service man did not show up. I called to check if there is a time I can expect him in particular. They told me that he was due at my house between 11:00 and 2:00. It was already 3 o'clock and so I knew that wasn't gonna happen. The repairman who came the first time to evaluate the problem came back with another guy. They did the installation on the 27th.
The techs were great. They obviously knew exactly what they were doing. They said it was a very easy install because of where my washing machine was. It wasn't in a closet somewhere where they would have trouble pulling it out.
One thing I didn't like was that I misunderstood what the man was saying while he was out evaluating my problem. He asked when was the last time I cleaned the inside of my dryer. I said that I empty the vent, the lint catcher. He said he can do that. I asked if it was included in the service today and he said yes. He took it all apart and vacuumed it all out, which was great. At the end, he gave me a $50 bill. So, I had to pay $50 for that. I would have never done it had I known it wasn't included in that trip. But I like the fact that they responded so quickly on the first call for the claim. I would recommend AHS. I got a discounted rate for the year. It was a very good value. Use them, but be smart about what you're doing.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience, Frances. We’re glad to hear the initial claim process was smooth and that the repair was ultimately completed successfully. We also appreciate your kind words about the technicians and the value you see in our coverage. We sincerely apologize for the scheduling confusion and the missed appointment—it’s clear how frustrating that must have been. Your feedback about service clarity and communication is incredibly helpful, and we’ll use it to improve our processes moving forward.

Express Appliances came out once to diagnose my refrigerator's problem. And when they came to diagnose the refrigerator, they also installed a part that was preordered for my dryer, which was perfectly fine. Everything went really smoothly with that. Once the refrigerator part that was needed arrived, they came out to install that. I wasn't present for that but my husband was. They fixed everything fine.
Everything was fine service-wise in terms of the problem was assessed and fixed. Communication with the office and scheduling and diagnostics by phone was excellent. The technician reportedly, according to my husband, was not super professional in how he was handling the appliance and how he left all the unneeded parts just laying all over the kitchen. It wasn't terrible but it is not the best performance.

American Home Shield was easy to use. You just click on a button on their website to file your claims. We got the warranty when we bought a new house in Houston. The previous owner gave us some money for it and we added the extra to have a better coverage. Recently, they sent out Astral Appliance to work on my laundry machine that was leaking. They replaced the rubber, so it doesn't leak anymore. But there was a few other issues. In the beginning, the softener wasn't going through every 10 times, so it was almost never going. Some place was a little bit obstructed, so the tech de-obstructed it.
Then, because sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesn't go through, I called him back. But he said that was perfectly fine which I find weird. He explained to me that there is water coming and that it can be normal. I then realized after I signed the paperwork that it says water in it. But the problem was with the softener. And now, when I checked the website, it says my last request for service was denied. So, I don't understand why he didn't fix it because he told me that if it doesn't get better, he'd come back and fix it. And now, he said there is nothing to fix.
Hopefully, I'm not going to have to pay for the fact that he came and didn't fix the thing that he said is not fixable. I really have some doubts about what he said that it's normal to have water, because it's not water. It's a mixture. I also know that the softener sometimes goes through and sometimes it does not. Other than that, I'm really satisfied with American Home Shield. I'm planning to use the service again to have the TV mounted. But I'm still waiting for my husband to buy the fixture.
Thank you for your detailed feedback, Veronique. We're glad to hear your first claim experience went smoothly and that you found our online tools easy to use. We also appreciate your interest in exploring future coverage options. We understand your frustration with the denied washer claim. While the technician determined the issue was within normal operation, we recognize how that can still feel unsatisfactory—especially when it differs from your past experiences with similar appliances. We also apologize for the delay in updating your service history and will share this with our team to help improve follow-up and record accuracy.

I needed my salt system replaced and Premium Pool wanted $6,000 to do a $3,700 job. I ended up going out of network and American Home Shield gave me $2,975 to do the cash option. I would love to see that statement removed from the contract, saying that unless I contact them first, they won't approve the service.
I had the HVAC guys come over to my house a few days ago to service the HVAC and check the Freon levels. They found out during that time that the disconnect box was wired incorrectly. It fried our Google Nest 4th Gen that was just installed, and the fan compressor motor was overworking, which was making the lights in the house dim. While they were there, they told me that my fan compressor needed to be changed and my disconnect is unsafe because it's not actually disconnecting. The electricity is still flowing even when you pull the plug. When I contacted American Home Shield, they said they were not gonna pay for that. So, I had to pay $2,900 out of pocket for all of that.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Willie. We’re glad your pool and HVAC issues were resolved, though we regret that the process didn’t meet your expectations. We understand your concerns about pricing and reimbursement. Our cash-out option is based on the AHS estimated cost of covered repairs, and we always aim to be transparent about the process for out-of-network services. Maybe it is the service providers, but I have had a very poor service experience. I own/manage four rental properties in two states, so have four policies. This year I had to order services at a vacant property. One service went smoothly as planned, scheduling through the property manager flor keys and access. The other service provider, Platinum, informed me that I had to be at the property in person. I am a senior citizen who does not drive so had to hire a person to drive me the 120 miles to the property. That service provider's office set the date and time of the service, Friday, August 8th from 2-6pm. I verified that in phone calls and texts with the company, even calling the day before to verify date and time.
We drove to the property manager office to get the keys. Around 1 pm on the 8th, I received a call from the service tech saying he would "be here soon." I told him we were across town and would get there asap. Our appointment was for 2pm. We were over half hour away in traffic. He said he could not wait and hung up, telling me to reschedule while I was begging him to stop by later. He never called or came by.
I called his office to see if they could message him that we would be at the property until 6pm and would wait for him. The office told me that my appointment was for 1pm and I had "failed" my appointment! When I told the Platinum office person that I have a written message from them confirming my appointment from 2-6pm, he said they never make such appointments! I let him know that I have it in writing and will provide the information to whoever needs to see it! He was not pleasant.
I called AHS and they set things straight with the provider and told me to set another appointment with the provider, which I did, paying a fee for what was not covered by my policy. I had at least two more calls from the provider asking for payment. When I reported it had been made, they checked and verified that. Then I got another call, who checked again and verified that the payment had been made. This person told me that they could arrange access with the property manager, whose information I provided again.
Apparently, they did call the manager, but did not meet the appointment they set with her. She reports they showed up on a different day without notice. AHS shows an entry for service on a Saturday. When I called the provider, I was told that the tech went to the property and nobody was home, then he called and left a message and left. I watch my phone and never had a call from the tech. He should have called the property manager anyway, this was vacant property. Of course, nobody is home! The tech failed the appointment with the property manager, then showed up on a different day without notice or appointment--and reported to his employer that the owner failed to be there!!!!!
This is the worst kind of service, wastes time and energy and money for all concerned. I would not recommend Platinum for any work. It appears that their systems are not connected. Their office does not know what their techs are doing and the techs do not know or care what the office had told the customer. Everyone is ignorant of what has been said or done, but very sure of themselves, annoyingly so!

They let me know who they assigned the job to, then I looked them up and contacted them myself. Our interactions were good. They explained the problem and the limitations of the contract, which can be improved. We don't know things are installed improperly until we find out the problem. It's not like people go through a house when they buy it and take the toilets out to see if it was installed properly or not.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that the claims process was smooth for you. It's wonderful to know that Dom Plumbing provided satisfactory service and clarity on coverage. We’re glad everything is functioning well now and appreciate your recommendation. Should you have further feedback or need assistance, we're here to help!

I always do a representative when I file claims with American Home Shield because I wanna make sure that what I selected is what I actually need. The AC unit that was completely out needed a coil and another part that goes with it. When the other guy came out to put it on, he said, "I don't think that's it. I really think it may be the compressor." I said, "Probably." I had somebody on the side to come and look, and he said it needed all of that. I just wanted to see what they would say. It needed the compressor, but it didn't work. It needed a thermostat. It needed four things. When the other guy came out, that is what happened. The unit came on. It's loud compared to the newer unit, but that's okay. I could tell that it's on.
When MaxAir came out, one of the technicians was very thorough. He said I may end up paying something, but it wouldn't be as much, depending on what it is. With the other thing, I had to pay 580 as opposed to 8000. Also, AHS was thorough with everything in my contract. However, don't do the Gold membership. I had it, and it's 105 a month. It's a bit pricey. I've been paying out of pocket for one unit, but I can't afford it for two units. You gotta go all the way up to the top tier, which is the Platinum. You have to wait until you're ready for renewal so you can get your membership changed.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We’re glad to hear that, despite some complexities with your AC repairs, you found value in our service and were satisfied overall. Our goal is always to provide efficient support while working through any necessary repairs, and it seems this was achieved with substantial savings for you. I'd recommend American Home Shield. I bought my home where my son is in December 2001 and I've had AHS the whole time. When I got married, moved in with my husband, I got AHS for that home. My daughter-in-law was the one who was there at my second home when the contractor came for the garbage disposal. I gave her full access to do whatever. The only thing I don't like is the price keeps going up and up. But I recommended AHS to my niece in Houston years ago and she got them.
Thank you for your longtime trust in American Home Shield. We're delighted to hear that you've been generally satisfied and comfortable recommending our services to your family. Your experience underscores our commitment to providing reliable home protection that you can share with loved ones. We acknowledge your concerns about the price increases and fully appreciate your decision to remain with us despite challenging areas. Your feedback is invaluable as it helps us continue to improve. United Air came out and diagnosed that my system was tripping the circuit breaker. They weren't able to fix the issue, but they put in a ticket for an electrician. Then someone came out and inspected the circuit breaker to verify that it was tripping and indicated that I needed more amperage. But right now, I'm still without air. So I'm gonna have to redo a service call or I'm gonna get an electrician to take a look at that. It's not the original issue so there may be an additional service charge. But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. In fact, have recommended them to a friend. The key piece is how they service. Each service technician or each service organization is different. I've had good service techs, and I've had very bad ones.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate your recommendation and understand the frustration of your ongoing issue with the circuit breaker. Our goal is always to ensure that your service needs are addressed effectively and to offer comprehensive service. We value your feedback and are continually working to improve our responses and partnerships to better serve you. Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance, and thank you for recommending us to others. The air conditioner was running, but the temperature kept going up and it would stop cooling. The technician from Affordable Heating tried to do something and it didn't work. So, I had them come back out again. They claimed after that that there was mildew and water inside the air conditioner, which was why it wasn't working. American Home Shield denied the claim because of mildew and water. I told them that an air conditioner is going to have water and mildew over time. It's 20 years old. But they wouldn't pay to have it replaced. I had to pay it out of my own pocket.
AHS did great at the beginning. It has become a little bit tighter now with regard to what they're willing to pay for. I've never had this issue until this particular AC unit. AHS had replaced another one of my AC units, so it was weird that they denied this one. AHS is willing to repair things but not willing to replace them.
Sincerely,
American Home Shield

With the way that American Home Shield works, people open a claim then they assign a vendor to work it. People pay the $100 fee and they come out and repair whatever needs to be repaired. I did a claim online and the contractor they sent out was good. Everything is working properly. On a different note, American Home Shield has been making changes in the way they do business lately and I wouldn't recommend it because they keep going up in price and they want to narrow the scope as to what they are covering.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're pleased to hear that the claim process was straightforward and the repairs performed by our vendor met your expectations. We understand your concerns regarding pricing and appreciate your feedback. We're committed to providing valuable service and we aim to justify your confidence in us. My refrigerator was leaking and after it was fixed by the contractor, Asset Services, the base of the refrigerator started heating up. I called American Home Shield to let them know, and then I called Asset Services. But the lady said I need to call AHS back. I just got a runaround and AHS never reissued the claim. The icemaker was supposed to be fixed, which was an additional issue, but no one came to fix it. So, I'm not satisfied with the service. The refrigerator is still hot.
It's becoming very frustrating with American Home Shield, and I'm about to cancel it because I’ve also had ongoing issues with my air system. AHS patched a refrigerant leak instead of fixing it properly, and when it failed again, I was told repairs would cost thousands out of pocket. I ended up replacing the entire system for $5,800, and AHS only contributed $300. They are a rip-off. They can never fix anything, and I spent all this money with them. I’ve had this warranty for about 15 years, pay $146 a month, plus $125 to get someone to come out, and am repeatedly told my issues aren’t covered. And they don’t give my money back. At this point, it’s a waste of money.
I deeply regret hearing about your experiences and appreciate you sharing them in such detail. It sounds especially frustrating to face ongoing issues with no satisfactory resolution, and the difficulty you've encountered in getting coverage truly concerns me. I'd like the opportunity to discuss how we could better assist and work on a solution specifically for your needs. Please reach out directly so we can address your concerns.

This is an absolute disgrace of a business model, and I can't believe anyone would fall for this blatant rip-off. If you're dumb enough to buy into this scam, prepare to throw away $100+ for each service request, only to have American Home Shield send out a shady, unreliable repair company that refuses to even finish the job. When you finally find someone who’s actually willing to do the work, AHS will deny the claim outright, leaving you with nothing but empty promises and a pile of out-of-pocket costs.
This so-called “home warranty” is a complete joke. Don’t even bother trying to get through their nightmarish call center where no one has a clue what’s going on. It’s like they’re purposefully designed to waste your time, ignore your complaints, and bleed every last cent from you. They thrive on preying on vulnerable, hard-working people who get nothing in return. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this scam as possible. All you'll get is your $100+++ down the drain, denied claims, and the insulting feeling that you've been utterly swindled. It’s nothing more than a legal way to steal from people.
Hello Jimmy. Your name and email address do not pull up any records in our system. If you have an account with us and you are unhappy with the outcome of a service request, you can feel free to reach out to us directly via socialmedia@ahs.com. We will be happy to review that service request.
Regarding your other comments on our service: while I understand that there are times when we at AHS miss the mark - there are many more times that we succeed. AHS could not have lasted over 50 years while providing service to over 2.09 million Americans without providing quality coverage. AHS is the most extensive home warranty service in the United States. Reviews by outside agencies show that our customers are among the most satisfied of home warranty holders.
AHS does not deny claim coverage out of hand as you asserted. We authorize or deny coverage based upon the diagnosis of certified, trained technicians and per the terms outlined in the contract agreement.
If you have a warranty service issue, we are happy to help. If not, we wish you a good day.

When I moved in my home, the people that lived here had American Home Shield. I decided to keep it because it was cheaper at the time. Also, it has not been difficult to get in touch with anyone. The difficulties lie in trying to find someone who I can understand and can understand what I'm saying. There's a language barrier there. The premiums and the contractors that AHS uses need a lot of improvement.
My air conditioning went out and it was 100 degrees outside. When I first called American Home Shield, they assigned me to Heber Air Conditioning. They never called me. They never replied. I kept trying to call them but couldn't get anybody to answer. I kept going to a voice message. I called AHS back and said I need them to assign me someone else because it's 100 degrees in this house. However, they said they had a 48-hour wait before they could give me anybody else.
I pay $100 a month as a premium, and I have to pay $100 when the technician comes out. One came out recently to fix my air conditioner. I needed Freon, which is $110 a pound. However, AHS only paid $10 a pound. How are they helping me? It was a rip-off. I was out of $500 myself for the air conditioner. Don't get AHS. Save your money in a home improvement account. When an emergency comes up, you'll have the money.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and your longstanding relationship with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with the air conditioner repair and the difficulties faced during the resolution process.
We genuinely value your loyalty over the long years and hope we can earn your trust back with better practices and service procedures.

Sometimes American Home Shield takes too long to get somebody out, but they did really well this time. I had outlets that stopped working in two of my bathrooms and they sent someone out who replaced one of the GFCI outlets. That resolved the problem in the bathrooms. However, I also have a light in the dining room that was flickering and that problem was not resolved. He checked it all out and told me the switch was not right for the type of light bulbs that were in the lamp fixture. He was very helpful.

I would think long and hard about buying any warranty from American Home Shield. Their service used to be wonderful.. I had three policies with them. I haven't had to file a claim in a while but noticed their rates increased greatly. I just this week had to file three claims; one for bathroom sink issue which was resolved quickly; one for a kitchen sink that needed a new faucet.. for which the contractor told me I'd have to pay for the faucet myself and just left; and one for a pressure tank that they denied.. calling it a storage tank which it is not.. even though my policy covered pressure tank regulators...
I'm cancelling my policies with them.. Their service time is too long.. This has been going on over a week now.. My kitchen sink is still leaking.. I had to buy the faucet myself; and now I have to pay for a pressure tank that their contractor said he could install after he sent paperwork and waited for approval... Not playing that game again.. Been having to turn water on and off for a week now.. Just called another company... They will be here today.
This policy cost me over $1000 a year and I haven't filed a claim in almost two years... and this is the service I get now... PATHETIC! I'm filing a complaint with the NC Insurance Board and I'm taking them to small claims court to recoup my costs... Customer service was a joke.. Could hardly understand the girl but basically.. it was like she was reading off a script... She just kept repeating the same lines..no matter what you said... Tried to find a phone number for parent company... They keep that pretty well hidden.

Terrible First Experience – Avoid This Company. This was my first time using this company, and it has been a horrible experience from start to finish. I submitted a repair request for a brand-new washer, and the service provider they assigned had numerous one-star reviews — many of which included warnings about scams and unethical behavior. Despite these serious concerns, the company refused to assign a different repair provider. When I contacted customer service, I was met with a representative who clearly had limited English proficiency and seemed to be reading from a script. No matter how clearly I expressed my safety concerns, I was repeatedly told they would not consider any other repair company.
To make matters worse, I was forced to pay a $100 fee upfront before I could even view or choose a service provider. That fee is now lost, and I received no help at all. When a company refuses to listen to customer concerns — especially regarding safety and trust — it’s a huge red flag. Between the lack of support, poor service, and non-refundable fee, this entire experience feels like a scam. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
The Mary Alice Melwake,
Thank you for contacting us regarding your concerns with the AHS pro we assigned to you. I read and understand your concerns. I will be contacting you via email on your washer work order and the concerns you have with the AHS pro.Best regards,

I've used American Home Shield for so long that I've lost count of the years. I recently had them send out DrainGo of Alabama to address an odor issue with my toilet. There wasn't a leak, but there was an unpleasant smell. They replaced the component under the commode, and since then, everything has been in good working order. When it came time to alert AHS about the issue, I called their support. I dealt with their automated system, which I don’t like. However, I didn't notice any delay or change in the time it took them to respond because of it. If a family member or friend were to inquire about my experience with American Home Shield, I'd recommend them as a beneficial service to have. I handle most things over the phone, as I don't use their online services.
Rosalind, thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a positive review. We're happy to see that our service has been a benefit to you over the years !

I like American Home Shield. But they contract out to different companies. They just have to be aware of the company. Hoback came out here before for the furnace and I didn't like their service. The gentleman that came out was on the phone on hold. I went in there to talk to him and I didn't know he was conducting business. You can't come into a client's house and be conducting your own personal business on the phone. He didn't do anything. He went straight to the unit and then he hooked something up to the wire. Then he went outside and told me that my wires needed to be replaced. But the wires didn't need to be replaced. The issue was something else when Precision came out and they got the unit working. But I was very dissatisfied. I put in a complaint with American Home Shield about Hoback and the gentleman that they sent out to me.
When the gentleman came out who said the problem was the wiring, I had to pay a $125 deductible, and then American Home Shield was going to charge me an additional $125. But I told them, “Well, why would I have to pay an additional $125 when my problem wasn't resolved? And I'm still working off the other $125.” I had to explain to them that I was dissatisfied with their response because they said they couldn't waive it. I told them that I've been a customer with them for 10 years and if they're willing to lose a customer over $125, then so be it. They said if they came up with the same issue, I would have to pay the $125. If they came up with a different diagnosis, then I wouldn’t. But I told them, “Well, I feel that either way it go, I shouldn't have to pay an additional $125, period.” When the rep came back, they waived it, so that was fine.
I'm always recommending American Home Shield. But you have to be mindful as to who they're sending out to you. You never know who's going to come to your home. I've dealt with Precision before, and they're a little more sufficient. The young man who came out was pretty good. I haven't had a problem with Precision except the last time. Something else had happened because it went back out. But that's not a problem because if anything goes wrong or you have any more problems within that 30 days, they'll come back out. So they came back out and fixed the problem. When I originally started out with American Home Shield, I was paying $50.99 and now it's $109. It constantly keeps going up but nothing has changed with my plan. So, I don't understand. They constantly keep going up on their prices, but I am not aware that they're going up.
Hello Norma, and thank you for your review. I'm sorry to see that our technician from Hoback incorrectly identified the service failure, but I'm glad that the next vendor we assigned was able to resolve the issue for you.
I'm also glad to see that per your rating, your overall service experience from AHS has been a good one. Please know that we truly appreciate your business.

There was a couple of times that Sears came out on the same item. I did the initial service call online using American Home Shield's website. The second time, I contacted the customer service at AHS and they made arrangements to have them come out again. The Sears technician, initially, said that the cooktop itself was functioning the way it should, but it wasn't receiving enough power to take and correct the problem. He checked the electrical connections and made a recommendation that an electrician come out and look at the situation, which after he filed his report, American Home Shield arranged for that and the electrician came up. Everything worked properly after the electrician.
The cooktop is working fine now. The only thing is American Home Shield sent Sears out twice. The same technician came out and he assessed the problem the same way twice. So, I think that was a little bit of a wasted effort. Otherwise, Sears themselves was fine. Their service technician was very good at what he did. The electrician was very good at what he did as well. I just think they got caught up in the red tape a little bit.
