    I appreciate AHS sent Island Breeze to do our air conditioner. I was pleased to find out that company donates part of their income to veterans. I thought that was a good idea. The old unit couldn't be replaced so American Home Shield replaced the old unit. AHS was pretty good. It's a little slow at times, trying to figure out what they’re gonna do with an appliance. But once we get started, it seems to work pretty well.

    The AC unit wouldn't come on. When the contractor came out, they said the issue was from the wiring. It almost backfired and caught on fire. Both of the technicians jumped away and then they submitted a claim. But I didn't get any feedback on what needed to be redone. When I called about it, AHS said that the claim was denied. But I thought the replacement of the unit was covered. I didn't get any paperwork telling me what was going on. I did get a follow-up stating I had to pay for $2,000. But the two guys that came out were okay. They were professional. They let me know what was going on. But I thought they would have wrote that in when it had backfired.

    AHS is an overall good company. But they need to follow up with their customers. I shouldn't have to chase them down when I'm paying them for coverage. There's lack of communication and not emailing me any information about the denial of the claim. I had to call myself to find out what was going on. I still have an outstanding claim on my refrigerator and I haven't heard anything from them regarding what is going on with that.

    The dial on my dryer stopped functioning. I could turn it and hit Start, but the dryer wouldn't start. The contractor came out and they replaced it with a good one. The tech showed me where it has a knob that comes out that's flat on one side and round on three quarters of the sides. The knob just slides on. The one that wasn't working was busted. He replaced it with one that had a metal thing that slid on to the sleeve and it works perfectly. American Home Shield has always been great when I've called them. I'm very pleased with them. People need this kind of coverage.

    The air conditioner was frozen, and it overfilled. The water came into our garage because of it. I made the claim at 5:30, and the tech was there by 9:00 AM. The lines were clogged and he had to blow the lines out. I had a wonderful interaction with him. My experience with AHS has been pretty good so far.

    We have seven policies with American Home Shield and we use it all the time. The response time is within 24 hours. Then it’s within 24 hours when somebody comes out. They fix the majority quickly and get out. I recommend it to everybody.

    Green's Appliance did the repair of the ice maker on my refrigerator. But after that repair, we noticed that we had a water leak and it was coming from the refrigerator. So I had to call AHS back about that. I've had American Home Shield for a while now and they dispatch the people in a timely manner. This time is the one that's been the longest though because water leaks don't stop and wait for the repairman to get here. They got someone scheduled, but they're not scheduled to be here until Monday. So, I'm dealing with the water that's constantly leaking in my kitchen.

    It was pretty easy to submit the claim when my dryer wasn't working properly. AHS got somebody out here, and then he said he was going to order parts. Then I got an email saying they couldn't get the parts, but it told me to go ahead and order a dryer. So I ordered a new dryer, and they delivered it. I don't very often have things break down, but when they do, AHS is pretty easy to deal with. My experiences with them were all smooth.

    Tropical Pools was wonderful. The repairman called me within the hour and I've never had that experience before. He told me to send a picture so he could see exactly what was wrong. He showed up the next day with what he needed to fix the issue and within less than 24 hours, everything was up and running. However, I haven't had a refrigerator for four weeks now. The compressor has gone out of it so American Home Shield said they opted to replace the compressor versus replacing the refrigerator.

    The contractor ordered the compressor. Yesterday, they were supposed to come and install it. They realized that morning that they didn't have the proper tool for whatever linear compressor that my refrigerator takes. They reached out directly to American Home Shield and American Home Shield automatically assigned another contractor through Sears. They never showed up today. I called and finally got in touch to them. They said that the ticket had been submitted but they didn't have a technician to assign. But nobody ever called to let me know so I sat here from 8:00 to 12:00.

    Every time you call American Home Shield, you can't talk to the same person. That is what is frustrating when you're experiencing a problem because you have to go through the whole story every time and there's nothing the frontline person can do. I need someone beyond them and they won't put you through. The one today told me their supervisor was off. But I would still recommend American Home Shield because I hear stories of friends who have home warranty companies that are not American Home Shield, and they sound like most of the time, their stuff doesn't get repaired. It sounds like it's a lot more trouble to go through with other companies than what I had experienced with American Home Shield, until now.

    Everything went well with my claims with AHS. I used the service four times in the past year and the technicians that came over were very professional, very courteous, worked well with them and the jobs were done right. I would certainly recommend AHS. It's worked for me. The only downside was that, on two occasions, I called for different services and I had to back out of the program I was in and resubmit it again instead of just staying on the same site and then just clicking if I had another job to do. If there was just a quick way to just go from one request to another with the same call or the same online entry, it would be a lot better. But otherwise, the service is great and the selection of technicians was good.

    There was a capacitor on the air conditioner that was out. I called American Home Shield, and the claim process was good. I'd recommend AHS. We haven't used it a lot, and when we do, most of the time, it's been on the air conditioning. It's been fine every time. It's been a good experience.

    We've had several claims. One, our air conditioner wasn't working and it was 80 degrees. The guy didn't even respond to us for about 10 days so that was unacceptable. It gave me poor taste. Also, the dishwasher took four months to fix. We also submitted a claim for something else, and it took months to fix that as well. With our recent claim, the dishwasher stopped working. It was easy to tell American Home Shield it was happening, but we didn't get it fixed for months. They said that they couldn't get the part. I don't know if it's who they're hiring, or for the price they're hiring, or they're getting the cheapest help they can get. In the end, they're getting the money, but we're not getting timely service.

    We've had American Home Shield for a few years. It seems like they split the contract into different sections. If I call for the washing machine and the stove, I would have to pay twice because I would have to have two people come out. But when we signed up for American Home Shield, they said, "Try to save it, if you can. One service pay for one call, you can fix two or three different items." We tried to wait until we get two or three items and do the claim as American Home Shield recommended. That way, we're not wasting our or the serviceman's time. When we tried that last time, the rep said we could do the refrigerator, stove, and something else but we couldn't do the dryer. It would have to be a different service call.

    They couldn't do the knobs on our stove too. We have two knobs on our stove that we can't use because the plastic is broken on the inside. When a guy came for our refrigerator and put new rubber on, he ordered the knobs too because he saw the knobs were broken. They came in the mail but the guy had to return them. American Home Shield would not replace the knobs when they are part of the stove. We were really disappointed.

    As far as the service, it's great and we like it. Even though the price has gone up, we love American Home Shield. Both the servicemen who came for our claims were great. The one who fixed the dryer said that he used to do refrigerators and stoves but now, he can only do certain items. Another guy does certain items. With American Home Shield's service, we would like to have paperwork that says what is covered under each thing. That would be extremely helpful. That way, we would know if we can wait and hold on and see if anything else breaks or get the other category.

    We always thought the washer, dryer, hot water heater, refrigerator, stove were all connected. But the hot water heater's separate. Our water heater was fixed a few years ago but now it's leaking again. It rusted out where it was fixed. American Home Shield told us that it was too long of a time in between. We didn't mind that. They said they were gonna charge us another 83 something and change.

    American Home Shield is excellent. They have been good at answering and taking care of my needs. I had no problem with the contractor that came for my garage. They were very prompt. They called me, asked for service and they were here the next day. The tech was very patient. He explained to me that the springs aren't covered under my contract and I understood that. He did the repair, so I was okay with that because it was just me not knowing that the contract that I had didn't cover the springs.

    I had an experience where I had to ask for a refund because the people who were supposed to do the service, A-US Air of Texas, were not very good service providers. I had to call them three times and American Home Shield did have to reimburse me. Then I had to go out of my own and find somebody because A-US Air of Texas was the only company that they were dealing with at that time. I intend to continue being a customer of American Home Shield, but I do expect for them to give us reputable contractors.

    The service is very easy to use, and everyone is very professional. The tech that came out for my appliance issue was very good. He was very communicative about what he was doing and the timelines. He got it done pretty quickly. American Home Shield's claims process works well. When I have a claim, I just went on to the website and then, there's a bunch of categories there. I select the category that's closest, then typed in a brief description, and hit submit. After that, I’ll go with the confirmation, and then someone will contact me. We’ve used the service a few times. If something isn't working or breaks, it’s easy to get it fixed without having to worry about myself getting parts or having to do the fix myself.

    Our upstairs pipes leaked so technicians had to cut through the ceiling to get into the pipes. They did what they needed to do. But the work is not done yet as I still have a hole in my ceiling and in my wall. They're supposed to send somebody out to drywall it. The only thing about the whole experience that I had an issue with was the length of time to get people to come out and work on my house. I reported this claim initially in February and the technicians finally got the pipes fixed two weeks ago. And it takes another three months to get the hole in my ceiling and my wall fixed. Other than that, everybody that I talked to on the phone as well as the technicians were great.

    My central air wouldn't run. I called and made an appointment then American Home Shield took out my $75. They said I could call the contractor if I wanted. I just left a message ‘cause they were busy and then the next time I checked my tablet, they already gave me an appointment for Friday. The tech came and fixed it. After that, he showed me the part that was broken that he replaced. It looked like a little burnt up, sad looking can. Then it’s not a new unit and so I don't know what it's supposed to sound like. He checked everything before he left. He just said it's running. Well, I got my air and that's really important because if it’s gonna break, I want it to break before it gets red-hot outside. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. There's a gentleman that works for me from time to time. He's a contractor and he said that it's a good arrangement to have American Home Shield so I wanted to keep getting it.

    The refrigerator was not blowing out, so the tech put a fan on. But it’s doing the same thing again so that must not been the problem. So I called and he was supposed to come back Wednesday next week. But when he was here, he was very polite and professional. He was good. So far, Home Shield has been good. If we didn't have it, it would cost us much more than what we pay to have the appliance fixed. But sometimes you got to wait so long for them to get somebody out, especially the summertime when our air conditioner broke down. So we just got a new air conditioner.

    The water faucet coming out of the bathtub was stuck. The plumber who came out had all the tools. He knew what he was doing. He finished it up and left it clean. He did everything it was supposed to be done. I would recommend American Home Shield just based on the timeliness and the actual contractors they were sending out here. So far, there's been one guy that came here a couple of times for a dishwasher and refrigerator, icemaker. There have been one or two guys come in for my AC. The guys that American Home Shield is using are pretty much five-star contractors. Submitting the service request is too simple. You log in and do the service request. Then most of the time, a contractor or somebody is assigned within or less than 15 minutes.

    The guy addressed the situation well. It’s something with the shower. When he was here, it wasn't a leak. But when he left, it was a leak. So when he comes back, I’ll let him know what I think it is. But all in all, he did a good job as far as putting a hole on my ceiling to see what was going on. It was a simple process. I'm a first time homebuyer so I didn't know that when you call for something to get fixed, that you need to tell American Home Shield all at that one time instead of calling for each individual thing because you would have to pay a deductible each time. But other than that, everything is fine. I should have also educated myself a bit better as well. I could have as far as knowing how it goes with the claims.

    I had a basement issue and I had to call for that. If you flush the toilet, it wasn't flushing. It would come back. And then it was a leak. First, I was like, “Man, was it the seal?” But it wasn't. AHS got a company out, and they fixed it. I also didn't know that AHS didn't pay for getting the floor done. Because the tech had to dig up the floor. I thought that all came with it, but it didn't. My house was totally remodeled so everything looked great. But the guy had to cut and break up my floor in the basement to put down a new pipe. And he somewhat put the subfloor down, but he didn't even it out. But my floor didn’t get fixed as far as laying the tile down. That was upsetting. But the plumbing is great. He did a good job.

    I wanted a spring setup for my air conditioner and when I submitted a claim with AHS, they got right on it. They set up an appointment with a service company then the tech came out and took care of it. He knew what he was doing and I had everything ready for him. He went to work, got it done, and was out of here. Twice a year, I request service on my furnace and the AC. And twice a year, AHS takes care of it.

    K&B HVAC came out to fix my air conditioner that wasn't working. There was only one technician, and he was pleasant and quick. This is the first service call with AHS where the contractor didn't come out more than once. My microwave needed to get fixed, and it took three times. One person said it was a part, and they came back and said it was something else. Then, AHS sent me another company that fixed it. Outside of that, if you call AHS, it's pretty fast. You can schedule a service online and have somebody usually respond within 24 hours. So, that's the good thing.

    I'm having a problem with my electrical board of the pool. It's basically the control panel that controls the water pumps, the heater, filters, the salt cell and everything. I finally got around to having a tech be sent by the company and he said that he needed to replace that electrical board. One of the readings on the malfunctioning electrical board says no salt cell power. So, the electrical board is bad. It's not sending power to the salt cell, which is one of the dozens of things that the electrical board does. But since the words salt cell was in the tech's report, American Home Shield is refusing to cover it, even though I'm clearly covered for electrical and this is clearly the electrical board that needs to be replaced.

    I told American Home Shield that it was just a misunderstanding and that there was nothing wrong with the salt cell and it was the electrical board. It literally says in this report that the board must be replaced and it has nothing to do with the salt cell. So they said that they would call the technician. That was last week. I've called every day, once a day for last week, and they keep saying that they will call the tech and get clarification and it's the same thing every day. They're telling me they can't get ahold of them. So I asked them to send another person.

    Every time I call, I'm getting a different customer service rep and the customer service rep will say that they have the report here and it says that there's a problem with the salt cell and they don't cover the salt cell. Then I have to tell them that if they read closely, it says it's a problem with the board. That's what the last person said, and that's what the person before them said, and that's what the person before them said. If I can't get this rectified this week, I'm going to cancel my business with them.

    When I bought the home warranty from AHS, they said it would cover anything from the time I purchased it on. But they denied the claim I made on the air conditioning. There were three other units that I made claims on and I didn't understand why they weren't covered as well since it wasn't my fault that they weren't working. So, I've been talking to the person in charge of claim denials. In the meantime, I have replaced two units. The tech they sent out gave me an estimate of $30,000 to replace the two, which I thought was excessive, and I was able to get them both down for $9,300. So I wanted to be compensated for part of it at least and AHS just said no because I had already gotten them replaced. But you can't rent something if it doesn't have air conditioning or heating. So I wasn't very happy with the whole situation. American Home Shield should have paid for what they were going to pay for as per my contract with them.

    The whole idea of the home warranty is a good one. It's just that AHS didn't live up to their end of the bargain and they wouldn't even give me the $100 back when I had to pay for the inspection. Those people said that the ACs weren't any good and they told AHS that, so they denied my claims. Then they gave me an exorbitant price to replace the units, which I thought was sort of a scam.

    Description of Complaint: I have been with American Home Shield for last 18 months. I pay them on time and in return I get nothing back. I have a rental property where the A/C stopped working. I called AHS for help. They assigned a contractor. 3 Days later the contract came out randomly without any notice. The HVAC guy from AHS said the condenser is shot, and cannot be repaired. After 3 days I call them to see how the situation will be handled. The Hvac guy says they are waiting for a new condenser to be shipped from AHS.

    I then call AHS, they said they are waiting on the HVAC guy to send in some paperwork. About 7 days later I call them, AHS says they have approved a repair of the leak, not replace the condenser. Keep in mind the AC condenser cannot be repaired. Their method of repair? Just add more R22 refrigerant to the a/c. This does not fix the issue, as there are cracks in the condenser, it will just leak out in a matter of months. Second, that is illegal by EPA regulations.

    I called the HVAC vendor yesterday, 2 times it went to voice mail (their voice mail says, "If we don't pick up call again"). So I called a third time, picked up and started yelling, "Why do you keep calling us?!" and hung up the phone. I let AHS know that I don't feel safe with this vendor, they said the system cannot change it and they will tell the HVAC vendor to schedule a time to come out. I'm about 12 days in now, still no reply from AHS and A/C still not fixed.

    I have always loved American Home Shield and have used them for years. However, on March 3, I contacted them because my dishwasher was having issues. They sent someone out. He ordered parts and came back out to replace the parts. Still didn't work. The same contractor came out 4-6 times, replacing various parts. Finally they said they could not fix it. They sent another contractor out. He could not fix it. They sent a new contractor out, who has been out 4 times. It is now May 11 and my dishwasher still doesn't work. I have had several different contractors coming out, several different times. All this time, I have to deal with taking off work, and calling AHS many times, they will never let me talk to a supervisor.

    Last week when I called, the agent told me this would be the last time they sent someone out. Well, he came out last night, replaced a part and it still does not work. I called AHS again this morning, insisted on speaking to a supervisor, but she would not let me. She once again made an appointment for the same contractor to come out again to diagnose my dishwasher. This is ridiculous. Why can I not speak to a supervisor who can do more than just read off of a script? Why do we need a contractor to come out again, when they know the dishwasher will not be fixed. At this rate, they could have probably replaced the dishwasher 2 or 3 times over, with the amount of time, cost and my time off of work this has taken. I tried going onto AHS website to see if I could talk to someone other than an agent who is just going to read off a script, but there was nothing. So I am having to make this complaint.

    The light that the contractor sent by American Home Shield repaired hung down from the ceiling and there was a big gap where it was supposed to be flush from the ceiling. They said they couldn't, but they didn't have any caulk with them at the time. So, they put some silicone, but the silicone didn't work. It looked like almost an inch and a half gap from the ceiling. That was when we asked them to come back out and take care of that, which they did. They did a good job. Because they explained the way the hole was and the wood around it, that they couldn't get it up any higher. They made a sincere effort to do it and they did the best they could.

    Something was clogging the drainage, and the contractor was able to twist it and it's working now. They did good. When I had a claim for my washer last year, I couldn’t find a washer that was within the budget that American Home Shield had given me. So they have to keep up with the current prices for that. I had to add an extra $200 from my pocket just to get the washer that had the things I was looking for.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is extremely easy. But there is a trick. If you submit a claim and you don't know what's wrong, just tell them what the problem is and not what you think it is. Because the claims are submitted based on what you tell them. For instance, I had water coming into my basement, and I thought it was a leaky pipe. It wasn't a leaky pipe. But if I had just said, “I've got water coming into my basement,” they would have suggested how to go about fixing that or what the next steps were, as opposed to me just saying, “I need a plumber.” I did that. And I was like, “Oh, that’s my fault.” And not only that, but if you speak to somebody and you have more than one thing wrong, it can all go on one ticket as opposed to submitting separate tickets.

    The tech was very respectful of my property. It was the second time he came out. He had come out a year earlier. He remembered us. I got to the door and I didn’t have my mask. I was like, “Oh, can you give me one second?” He said, “Oh, yeah, no problem.” He just stepped back and waited for me to come back to the door with a mask on. “No problem. How can I help you? What's going on?” I'm very satisfied with AHS.

    The first gentleman who came in was looking at my microwave and he was too short. I had to give him a stepladder to look at the problem. He wasn't being very detailed about it so, I didn't appreciate his service. Then, I had a young man come out here to look at my dishwasher. He said it needed to be lined and he also made the statement that it was too old. He said that they would probably fix it or replace it.

    I had just gotten a letter a couple of days ago that it wasn't gonna be covered but that's the part I didn't understand. The dishwasher was not leaking but if you turn it on, water goes all over my floor. The tech said it wasn't lined but that's the way the dishwasher was when I moved in here. It’s a very old dishwasher so, I wanted to know if it was working properly because I had intended on getting a new dishwasher. I had just had this house fumigated so we were still sweeping up some of the dead roaches. When I got the report back, it said that they could not repair my dishwasher due to the fact that it had roaches, and this and that. But that had nothing to do with it. He didn’t mention that when you turn it on, it leaks. I was very disappointed with that.

    I was seriously thinking about finding me another company because I’m paying American Home Shield $100 in my monthly fees but every time somebody comes out here, the next thing I know is that this can't be done. Then, I'm coming out of pocket anyway so, what's the use of having a warranty if I'm not getting anything out of it. On the other hand, United Garage Doors was great. The tech was knowledgeable, courteous and explained step-by-step about what’s going on with my door. He told me about how much it would cost so, we called them back and we paid them out of pocket. He fixed the garage door and I have a guarantee from the company that he works for if anything else could go wrong. I understood that the warranty couldn't cover the garage door itself and I explained that to the person when I was asking them about sending somebody out here to repair my garage.

    American Home Shield was beneficial when it came to the garage door only. But not for the other two. I'm not 100% satisfied with the work that was done. If friends would ask me about the garage door, I would recommend AHS. But if they asked me about the other things that I've gone through, I would not recommend it.

    The fan is set to off, but it would come on randomly throughout the day. American Home Shield set me up with whatever that company was. And then, there was a guy who called me. They told me when they were coming out. It went smooth. We had one guy come out. My wife was there and he explained it well. The guy changed the filter, did a couple of things, but it didn't solve the problem. I put something to have them come back. I was able to meet the guy. And we were up in the attic. There was a little switch. He explained this is a feature that they put into newer homes where it vents in outside air randomly. If you have it on, it just vents in outside air in, just to keep pressure in the house. He fixed it. He flipped the switch and that was it. It was a good experience for us.

    Two of my friends got AHS and they said that when they had a problem with their pools, the repairs were covered. AHS sent JWC Pool to them and they both loved the tech. They said that he was great and that he went above and beyond. At the time, I just put in a pump and it cost $800. But with AHS, $800 would be one service for the year. So, I signed up with them and got the contract for 1,200. After I did a couple of things to make sure I liked it, I took a contract out on my second home.

    When I put in the claim for my pool, I asked to see if I could have the same people that my friends told me about because they came recommended. I also told them that I lived in the same town as my friends who were serviced by that company. AHS refused and said that they were sending this other company because of whatever reason. But that vendor was part of their program and I didn't understand why I couldn't request the same guy. Other than that, I recently had a slow drain that someone took care of and I had a tune-up on my air conditioning unit. Submitting claims with AHS was also very easy.

    We had an air conditioning problem and I was calling American Home Shield every day asking what was going on. They told me that they didn't have the parts. It took five days to even okay some of the parts and then they still needed one of the parts. Then they texted and said that they would get a part on Monday. But that would have been over two weeks with no air. So I called an air conditioner guy and he drove over the same day. He said he had the part in his truck and he fixed my air conditioner. So American Home Shield had us in 91 degrees for nine days without fixing it. I am not happy about.

    When I called American Home Shield, all the people I was getting was from another country talking to me about all these things. I couldn't get anybody nearby or anybody from American Home Shield to not only call me back but talk to me from this country where they understood that at Orlando, when it's 91 degrees, it's 100 degrees index. So that was horrible.

    When I first had American Home Shield years ago, they were right on top of stuff. You call them and then they had somebody out at your house. Now, it's not like that at all. You have to wait days for the work person to come to your house. It will take two to three days at least for somebody to come out, even if it's an emergency. My refrigerator was an emergency and it took a really long time for the company to come out. When the tech came out for the refrigerator, he didn't realize other things that needed to be fixed. But he was a very nice man. A few years back, American Home Shield sent out a guy to repair my stove, and he broke something. But they were on top of that right away. They bought a new stove because the guy broke it. But now, I don't know what happened to them. You can't even talk to them anymore, so they've gone downhill.

    For the air conditioning claim, I called American Home Shield at least three times a day. I would stay up sometimes till 4:00 in the morning with cold washcloth on my dogs because they were suffering so badly. That's ridiculous when you're paying somebody $70 a month for years. I called American Home Shield and said that I wanted my money back for the air conditioner. Then they gave me another song and dance about that and never heard anything. I asked for a manager every time I called and every single time, they said, “They'll get back to you in 24 hours.” But not one time was I called back. It was more than disappointing. It was deadly too. My dogs have MVD and that they're on heavy-duty heart medication. I also have a heart condition.

    The plumber was here when he said he would be and did good work. We have pumps attached to the water heaters and one of them had rusted through and started leaking. We had to turn off the pump there, had to get a whole new pump and installed that. It took a little time to get the part but he was good about getting it in as soon as he got that. We also called out the furnace folks to repair a solenoid and they were fantastic as well. I'm glad we went with American Home Shield.

    The refrigerator freezer stopped working, and they ended up having to replace the whole unit. It took two and a half weeks to get the unit but everything has been working fine so far. American Home Shield has given a satisfactory service. The claims process is pretty good. But a problem here in Augusta is that we're so small and we don't necessarily have service people that are nearby. So it sometimes creates a problem for getting somebody out here.

    Sometime last fall, the upstairs unit stopped working. It would still be blowing but it would be blowing hot air. United Air Temp came out on numerous different times and replaced several different parts. The system seemed to work. We had an actual winter in Florida so we weren't running the unit as much. United Air Temp started having to come back out because of the same issue we had. We had the unit set for 78 and it was 86 degrees. I called AHS and had to pay another service fee. United Air Temp replaced the same item that they had replaced in the fall which felt was a little weird. But I can only go by what they tell me because they're "the professionals". That seemed to be a fix for a few days. But the unit stopped working again so they had to come back out and replace some T21 hard kit because they were thinking it might be the compressor. They've done a couple of different things but had to come out again.

    The guy that comes out is the one I like. He's a sweet guy and knows the headache we've been going through. But they keep coming out, does a temporary fix then we're back at this another issue. We have to work around our schedule when they have to come out. I love American Home Shield and they're still my go-to warranty people 100% but I'm a little disappointed because I don't know why United Air Temp keeps coming out. There's obviously something more wrong and I'm not sure why no one's understanding that. I'm tired of calling. We're okay right now but how long will the unit work? I'm just waiting for the ball to drop.

    Having AHS gives me peace of mind 'cause we're on a fixed income now and we have a brand-new home. So, everything is new within five years.     Purchased a home owners insurance policy for a home purchase in October of 2020 and have had several issues with items in our home that were advertised to be covered under the home owner insurance policy, after calling to make the service request American Home Shield proceeded to inform us that all the items fell into different categories and each one would require a $75 dollar service fee.

    The lack of transparency with this company failing to inform the customers that water heaters fall under plumbing and stove top falls under appliance and an AC unit falls under HVAC and stovetop over can falls under electrical. When being informed of this and requesting a refund the agent on the phone said well it works like an HMO referring to Healthcare insurance and letting me know that no refund would be provided for the purchased homeowner association policy. The agent refused to give her full name and said her name was Elle, was able to get employee number of **, extremely disappointed.

    Original Review: I have nothing good to say as a customer for the past few years. This time around it the basic water heater that needs replaced. Their 'provider' wants $995 for modifications for the install that AHS won't pay. I have called each day for the past 6 days and requested a call back. NO ONE calls back after they tell me a manager will call today. They are clear liars and have no intention of communicating. Their system with the approved providers is almost criminal, they work together so both make all the monies back. The current plumbing company actually told me better warranty companies to use. From what I read, they are all basically scammers, it's just which one is the least painful to work with.

    There was water underneath the sink. We ended up having to change out the faucet then we had lots of blowers in the house to dry out underneath the sink. The contractor pulled out the dishwasher so they could dry behind it and I need somebody to come back out and reconnect my dishwasher.     The dryer started making a horrible screeching sound and was rocking. American Home Shield got it dispatched out and we got a call from the company right away. They got it scheduled for the very next day. They weren't able to fix it that day because they needed to order the part but they were back in three days and got it fixed. The claim was addressed great. Requesting service from AHS has gotten easier. The last couple of times we've had to call them, we've had a repairman out quickly. So we've been happy with the service from AHS. It pays to have the warranty. People will see it as a monthly cost and think it's too much, but we've been able to keep our older appliances. I understand from the servicemen that the older appliances are better built and you don't want to get necessarily new ones if you can, at all, avoid it. We've been able to keep our older appliances going with the warranty program. So, I recommend it to anyone.

    The previous issue was the hot water tank, and there were some plumbing issues. It was in a bathroom area. A1 came out, did all the work and it was great.

    The tech was professional. He wore a mask and was super friendly. That experience was okay. But I'm having some difficulty with American Home Shield now on another claim. There was a problem with a washer and dryer. It was an ongoing problem and that was solved. So, for having to deal with that for so long, they gave out coupons, which was for two free service calls to have to use. I used those. Now, they're saying that there's a fee due.

    When calling in for your claims, you need to get someone that understands. AHS is outsourcing the calls, and they don't understand what you try to explain sometimes, or you're explaining something and it's not being filed. Therefore, someone else calls and has no recall, or they ccouldn't pull up the record of what you’ve explained several times before.

    A front aisle of my stove was out and GE was doing it. They told me since they had replaced that thing, I was supposed to use their warranty so I went to use theirs. When their repairman came out, he said, “No, that's a separate issue. You gotta cancel that ticket and redo another one.” I did that and this was the beginning of March but I had an appointment for March 29th. I was out of my stove for about a month and a half. When I called to verify my appointment for March 29th, they said I didn’t have one. They canceled that appointment. When I called American Home Shield, they switched me over to FNA Appliance Repair and I was fixed within five days. I've been with American Home Shield the last five years and I only used them a couple times but it's been a great experience. It's a must to have a backup plan. If you get one of these major repairs, what would cost you at American Home Shield for a year could cost you that one time.

    I had two toilets that were acting up and I put the issue in online to American Home Shield. It was responded to with a text. They reached out to DNS Plumbing and because I didn't have any patience, I called DNS Plumbing in the morning to see what their schedule was. They were easy to work with. They came out and replaced the toilets. The co-pay or the visit fee is steep when you add it to the monthly fee that you pay American Home Shield. But I get it.     The tech explained everything that was wrong and he was very good. But I'm disappointed that American Home Shield does not offer more credit when Freon needs to be put in the air conditioner. Two years ago, I had to spend $300 on Freon and evidently, there was a leak that was never fixed. Now, I had to spend another $500 to put more Freon. American Home Shield gave me a new air conditioner and they never offered me the choice of upgrading it so I wouldn't be faced with the high cost of the Freon. Other than that, they've done everything I've needed them to do for me.

    Nussbaumer Plumbing has been out a few times in the last few months. One reason was to replace the garbage disposal that was acting up. They ended up having to replace it. I asked if they would need to come back and order the garbage disposal. The technician said, "No, it's here." I had a new disposal in 20 minutes. The technicians were very nice and professional.

    I really like American Home Shield because neither my husband nor I am very handy.     American Home Shield called us, they explained most of it, and the customer service is good. The gentleman we talked with when we initially bought our house was knowledgeable. He was honest and that's what I like. Our washer broke and the tech said, "Hey, maybe we'd get you a new washer." It would cost too much to fix it. So I have my new washer and thank God. It's smaller but I don't need it to be huge. My kids are grown now, so it works for me. It's a trusted brand and I'm cool.

    When my main was drained, it took the guy three days to go over. It sucks when your main is drained but I didn't have $300 for a plumber to come out. Other than that, I love AHS.     The water dispenser was making a loud, ugly noise and was not dispensing the water properly. It would come out in spurts. It was so loud that people in the household thought it was like a machine gun going on. Within minutes of me filing a claim, American Home Shield sent me a text telling me who was going to call and within an hour after that, the servicing agent called, set up a time and came by well within the timeframe. He looked at the dispenser, told me he would need a part and that when he received the part, he’d call me and set up another date. That was exactly what happened. While I had him here, I asked him about some other issues with the refrigerator and the fact that the racks don't stay up in the freezer. He looked at it, and he told me that it looks to be a design issue. In terms of the issue I called about, it was handled in a very expert way.

    We had had American Home Shield on homes before that were older. My husband grew to appreciate it when he needed it when we had a problem with our refrigerator. I recommended them to about three people already. People should be clear on everything that they can have protected by American Home Shield.     The contractor followed up with us before the appointment to let us know when they'd be here. They knew their stuff so they were in and out pretty quick. American Home Shield is definitely worth the investment and filing a claim is easy on the app. The hardest thing that I've run into before was not knowing exactly what the issue was. I can say it's our refrigerator or our pool or whatever the case may be but when it's anything beyond that or what part of it, I don't know.     We have a fridge freezer, the fridge is on top, the freezer is on the bottom, and the freezer was causing ice to collect and it was becoming a challenge to use the drawers and close the freezer. We called American Home Shield and they gave us the list of providers first. While I was on the phone, I Googled and when I saw the stars that were associated with the review, I asked them to send me someone else. So, they sent me this company. They were very easy to work with.

    The contractors vary based on your location, because I owned a home in Florida before I moved to Texas, and the vendors that they used that came out were a lot better. The first time I had problems, it was with my air conditioning unit, and I looked up the vendor and the reviews were horrible. So, I just canceled that appointment because they couldn't get me anyone out. So, we just went with someone and paid out of pocket. AHS should take a look at their vendors and the reviews that are associated with them to make sure that we are getting quality for what we're paying. It's not every day that we have to have someone come out to our house, but when we do, we do want to know that it is someone that others have had a very pleasant experience with.

    American Home Shield is usually quick about service requests. I normally get a call back. With my plumbing, what they did was perfect. The company that came out was wonderful. However, my dishwasher has been broken. I've been waiting for a month now or longer. AHS ordered one part for it, it came in a week and a half, it's still not working. They're trying to find a motor now, which is the stupidest thing because the dishwasher is old. It would probably be cheaper for a cheap dishwasher than a motor. I'm waiting on that. I haven't heard a word back from anybody. I even raised my deductible to $100. So they came out and I've got nothing back on them.

    I called AHS about the last one because when I went online, it said it was closed out and I said, “It is not closed out, I have no dishwasher, nothing's working.” And the rep said, “Well, I'm sorry, I should have called you back and told you we're trying to find a motor, but we can't find a motor for it.” My brother already said the motor is not going to work. They're wasting money. But that's up to them. I just want it fixed or replaced. But they fixed my washer that same time, right away. The tech fixed it within a couple of days. It’s just I've been waiting for the dishwasher forever. This was the first call I've got and very disappointed in it. But everything else has been perfect. I have always had good service, up until with the dishwasher.

    My experience with AHS is going well. I just had my washing machine fixed. They had someone come out and fix the machine, and then it's working fine. I also had a claim for my water heater, but with that claim, I ended up paying $400 out of pocket for it because my water heater was more expensive. Also, when I first started, American Home Shield was only $60. Now, it's close to 70. Then, the service fee was only 75. Now, it's $81.

    We called in for our furnace that wasn't working. We had a great experience when Oasis came out. The tech did the check and the repair. He told us there were other things that seemed to be wrong with our system. My AC is blowing good now. We had another air conditioning company come out through our own and it was not the service that we received with Oasis. Oasis went above and beyond. We were highly satisfied with their service.

When I called back American Home Shield, they told me they don't cover anything outside the house. I wish somebody would have told me that or they had some kind of disclaimer on the website.     My washing machine stopped full of water and it wouldn't do anything else. I called Lowe's Appliance and told them that I was filing for my warranty and asked if they could come out that day. The tech said they could come out first thing in the morning. So I called American Home Shield and told them that Lowe's Appliance said they could come out in the morning.

    The tech from Lowe's came out and something about the washing machine wasn't draining. He said it was not going to work and that I have to get a new one. He also told me that I was going to have to wait and that I was not going to be able to get one today unless I get it to Lowe's. I told him I would call American Home Shield to see what they would say. American Home Shield got back to me fast. I wasn't gonna be able to get from Lowe's, but they were going to send a washing machine for us, so I just waited for it and went to a laundromat. The tech that came out was nice. We live in a very small town, so I knew him from neighbors. Our neighbors had used him in the past and they said he was good. He was the one that come out to do my dryer also.

    The claims process with American Home Shield is super fast and easy. You just get on the website and submit the claim. You don't have to wait on hold for anybody. My boss has somebody else that she uses for a warranty company, and she's always complaining that they want her to pay for the work up front and then reimburse her. But American Home Shield don't do that. I'll pay them $25, and then I don't have to never pay another dime out.

    The drain from the kitchen sink clogged and when the plumbers came out, they had a water jet available but I don't believe they used it. Either they had a more powerful snake or larger snake, and they didn't even know what was clogging the drain. But when he got done, everything's been fine. We've had a couple of other issues along the way and if we call AHS, they respond. We have filed claims for the heat pump and the main drain. Then we had a claim for a sewer drain after we first moved in and they were able to send somebody out who recognized the problem, but it was something that wasn't covered. Then they sent somebody out for the dishwasher when it wasn't working correctly and they fixed that. So, AHS gives me peace of mind.

    But when you call somebody and it's covered by your warranty, you expect a little bit faster response.     American Home Shield's policy say that they will pay up to $1,000 per year on the well and that they will find the contractor for it. But they’d never found a contractor that called me back. They would not allow me to select my own contractor. My tenant was without water for three weeks. I had to pay for the tenant to be in a hotel room. American Home Shield was very difficult about it. They wouldn't return my phone calls. I had to wait on hold for a minimum of two hours each time that I wanted to talk to someone. It was just a pain and impossible. So it was very, very difficult to deal with them. That's the second time I've had trouble with them of that kind.

    My experience was good when I had an air conditioning claim. I paid the deductible, then American Home Shield sent a guy out to fix it and he fixed it. But it's been bad overall with American Home Shield. I have five policies with them. I've got all my rental properties with them. When I tried to cancel one of the contracts, they continued to bill me and said I never cancelled it even though I sent them a certified letter.

    American Home Shield needs to be more consumer-friendly. They should try and help you out rather than argue about why they can't do it. I do realize they're using an international contract basis. But it's much easier if you could understand some of what people are saying. American Home Shield is not screening the people that the clients are going to be interacting with, so you're getting English Second Language people, which is completely fine. That works in a lot of circumstances. But in this particular one, it didn't work and I asked for a supervisor. I finally talked to a supervisor and she was no different. She said, “Our employees are not wrong. And if you're having trouble, I'm sorry.” Then they kept disconnecting me. The whole thing was nasty. So it was a very bad experience with them and I won't renew that policy.

    Their selection of contractors is not so great because they do the selection based on a small bid kind of thing. They select the contractors and say, “We'll pay you 40% of your going rate.” But then the contractors kind of give you 40% of what you should be getting. I wish American Home Shield did a better job because it could be a great system. I have another warranty company that I've had pretty decent luck with. They actually want to help you. They actually want to provide a service to the consumer. I do not get that with American Home Shield.

    The website is a little funky. I managed to work through it but the problem is that I had one type of plan which gave me access to one website. Then it was switched to a real estate warranty which gave me access in a different way. My biggest problem with American Home Shield is I can't seem to get a copy of the contract to tell me what I'm covered for. They keep charging me $75 for each request. It cost me $75 for someone to tell me that the missing remotes on my garage door opener were not covered.

    I don't need to pay $75 to be told about my coverages. If American Home Shield is required by law to provide me the contract of what I purchased, then they can't charge me $75 to send somebody out to tell me that a claim is not covered. If they continue not to give me the contract that I paid for, it's illegal. They can't just sell me a contract but refuse to show me what the contract is. But the claim with Dockside Plumbing went well. It was a bad faucet and what I thought was a leak and a garbage disposal that didn't work. They made up for the shortcomings of American Home Shield.

    I liked the claims process because it was all on the web. So, there was nothing needed. I filled out a form and then, they communicated through email. So, it was very easy.     Our water heater was leaking. The tech was very nice and respectful. American Home Shield had to replace the heater but I didn't know that I had to pay $625 out of pocket. I wish that American Home Shield lets me know what is not covered so I won't be caught off guard. They can't do that though until technicians check the problem. Other than that, there is an advantage to having a home warranty. A lot of times, you don't have the money to go out and cash out. Whatever the warranty covers, you're covered on replacement.

    The biggest benefit of having AHS is that most of the major things in the house are covered with a minimal fee. Recently, I submitted a claim with AHS for my AC. One of my units wasn't cooling. The techs came, cleaned it out and fixed it. They had to come back because the unit had frozen over so it had to thaw. Then, they came back at their earliest convenience, which was about two days later. The AC has been working great.

    I received the email that American Home Shield sent out and I clicked on it and made an appointment for the annual maintenance for the air conditioning unit. I was able to pick my three options for available day and time so that worked out better for me. Then, the technician on their side looked to see which of those three was good. They had to go out twice but it was fine. They had to diagnose it and then go back with the part. American Home Shield's customer service is good. Once they put you in touch with a contractor, their job is pretty much done. But that's fine.

    The ice maker went out on my refrigerator and after I submitted a claim with AHS, the tech did something over video. Then, he had to order a motor and he came out about a week later. He put it in and he was pleasant. So far, the ice maker has been working okay. I've been with AHS for a while and I like that you don't have to pay the whole thing to get something fixed. I've been pretty happy.

    One time, I had a problem with the man who was fixing the electrical outlet and my dishwasher garbage disposal. He tried to tell me that my garbage disposal wasn’t broken but I knew that it was. Then, he had to come back. He cleaned it or flipped it and said that that was all he needed to do. But I told him that I already did that several times before calling him and it kept going out. When I called back again, they sent him out and he put a new garbage disposal in. Other than that, I don't understand why AHS can't get the techs to come out within a week. When I submit a claim, they call the people and the people schedule me a week or so out. But I guess it's because they only contract with AHS and not really getting money from us like they would from their own customers.

    The contractor didn't get a chance to repair anything on the refrigerator that wasn't working because the parts aren't available. They're now in the hands of American Home Shield. I've spoken to people but they've sort of given me the runaround. It's in the department that's supposed to provide approval if a replacement is going to be done or not. One department says it's okay to get a replacement, another department says it's not, and another department says they still need to try to find the part. In the meantime, I have no refrigerator. All the food is spoiling so I have to use it as quickly as possible. Anything that's frozen is thawed out. I'm feeding one of my kids a pizza that's totally thawed out from the freezer.

    These items are pretty pricey when you have to go out and buy them. But when they go out, paying a fee for them to be repaired is reasonable 'cause repair fees are high. That's the reason why we've had American Home Shield for over 20 years because every year something will go out that requires somebody to take a look. It'd be either a water plumbing issue or a garbage disposal issue or a refrigerator, a stove, a dishwasher, a microwave issue. Plumbing is really expensive so to have someone come out and undo toilets or repair a leak comes in handy. Those things happen quite frequently. We'll have a service once or twice a year so to me, American Home Shield is valuable.

    However, it's really sad when you're talking to a customer support person and they tell you, "It's going to a specific department for approval but they still need to speak to the technician to find out what's going on. But let me put you on hold and let me call them directly to find out." They find out then they say I have to wait because now that department needs to speak to them. I would say, "You just spoke to them so why not just transfer the info over to your coworker that works in that department to let them know you spoke to them? Why am I having to wait another 24 hours?" It's always that waiting 24 hours.

    They could also improve on them not sending me the emails that they say that they're gonna send me. One person will say, "I'm gonna be there to support you and help you and let's get that done for you." But once you hang up, nothing happens. Then you got to start the calls. I'm gonna be calling them shortly because I haven't gotten a response like they promised.

    A guy from Chadwell Comforts came out after we had Fast Response Heating and Cooling. It was a big to-do. The guy at Fast Response was trying to sell me a new unit and once I found about that, I contacted American Home Shield. Whoever the guy was that came to my house was on the phone talking to someone in my kitchen, stating that the home warranty would pay $3,200 toward a new double unit, the air handler and the air conditioner. Then he proceeded to tell me that their unit, which was a Goodman, was $11,000. And after the home warranty paid the 3,200, I would still owe them $7,400. I told him I was going to have to go rob a bank if I agreed to that. That was crazy and I told him that we had to think about it. He said to let him talk to the home warranty and he'd get me my new unit in here. He also said that they could do it Tuesday but I told him that I'd let him know.

    So, I had another company come in there and bid a new unit out because everybody was telling me that the price I was given was crazy. When the other company came in, they bid it out at $6,300. The tech didn't even look at my air. I just told him what the other guy had said and he went out and looked at the unit. He said there was Freon leaking, too. When I called the home warranty, I asked them why they were paying Fast Response $3,200 when they could just pay this guy $3,200 and it's $6,300. They said they got to get somebody else out for a second opinion.

    So they called Chadwell and he came out. That guy found out what the real problem was and it turned out that back in the winter when my furnace went out, Fast Response came to fix my furnace, put in a new thermostat and did not correctly do the wires back. So I didn't have to have a new unit at all. And my unit's Freon was okay but the guy from Fast Response said that our AC only had a half pound Freon in it. When the other guy came out, he said the only way he could possibly test that was to start the air conditioner up and the Fast Response guy never did because it wouldn't start up since it wasn’t hooked up. So, how in the world did he come up that the air conditioner only had a half a pound? Nobody knows and he was just trying to rip everybody off.

    Other than that, with anything I’ve done through AHS, they act like they got to have the say on who works on it and they shouldn't do that. We should be able to go get somebody and have them work on it and get the job done right. Last winter when our furnace went out, Fast Response was there seven times before they ever got the thing running. And then they didn’t even hook the air conditioner up. So I don't think there's really advantage to having a home warranty.

    AHS is expensive and they don't cover our basement sump pump. But when I called in a problem, submitting the claim was easy and he issue got fixed. One time, I had a problem with a Moen faucet that I had. My wife was at home when the contractor came and he said that since it was a Moen, we'd get free replacement parts. He told her to let him know when we get them, then he'd come and install them. But that was it for the $100 fee and he left my wife hanging. So, I was not happy with that. When I checked, they didn't have the replacement parts. We were also told that since we were not the first owners, they weren't going to provide anything except a new faucet. So, I canceled that appointment with American Home Shield and had a local plumber install a brand-new one.

    Recently, the swimming pool pump motor was making a really bad grinding noise. Water wasn't circulating. There was an air leak and when I take the skimmer off to take the leaves out of the pump, it wouldn't seal properly. The tech was good. He came when he said he'd be here and he did the job. We've had American Home Shield in all four of our houses since the middle '90s. They've come work to work on the air conditioning, the oven, and the refrigerator. They generally know what they're doing. We started with a $35 service call and now it's up to $75. Then we still have to pay a monthly fee. But, it's good to know that the warranty is there. I'm happy with AHS. I call them at least a couple of times a year and I'm glad I have the service.

    We initially wanted someone to come out to the house because there was leakage from our apartment into our neighbor's apartment. When we initially got the plumber out, he couldn't go into the neighbor's house to find the cause. We asked him if he could try and find the cause from our apartment because there wasn't anything obvious. So he went around the house, and he said it was probably coming from the toilet or the bathroom. He did something there and then he left. But our neighbor told us that there was still leakage coming down.

    I called American Home Shield again and then a different plumber from the same company came out. He told us that it was the sink and he did a replacement on the sink. But it didn't solve the problem. I called the plumber, and he said it was probably the dishwasher. So I called American Home Shield and told them that the plumber said it was the dishwasher. They told me that if I wanted someone to come out with a dishwasher, I had to pay another service charge. They also said that I had to wait till someone for the dishwasher came on. This was really ridiculous.

    I told our neighbor that we would just get their plumber to solve the problem. We then got a bill of $550. So not only it hasn't been a great experience, I'm concerned whether I really want to move forward with American Home Shield. Because if something like this happens, no one is really taking true responsibility. When you call American Home Shield a few times, you get nowhere. They say the same thing over and I'm thinking if they actually understand what I’m trying to say or my problem.

    American Home Shield's app makes the process super easy. It's super efficient. American Home Shield has been good with booking everything through their vendors. Then they do get back to me and schedule something within the next couple days. But the problem is that nothing is actually fixed. I have a problem with their second party vendors because the issues are not being resolved.

    I had claims for the washer and the garage door. Both were completed, but I had problems with the washer a week later, and then a day later with the garage door. So they are still broken and the technicians need to come back. So I'm not totally pleased right now. The washer was leaking and the first time that the tech fixed it, it worked for about a week. But now, it's doing the same thing. So it seems like they just put a band-aid on everything. I'm a nurse and I don't have time for this every week to do repairs and pay $35 every week for another repair. So it's been a little bit frustrating. With the garage door, I've called them multiple times after the first visit. I got a new remote but it doesn't work at all. The garage door still stops halfway as it was doing.

    With my refrigerator claim, I could tell that it wasn't fixed when the tech walked out my door the last visit. He really didn't make an effort to make sure that it was fixed. There are rusty parts that you can hear don't work. He had turned on the water line off to my sink, so my sink wasn't working correctly when he left because it shares a water line to the fridge. So I had to make an appointment with a plumber. They had to switch back the water lines and then the sink worked. But then, my icemaker again didn't work, so I had to call them back. They came back and then they had to order a part to repair the icemaker correctly. So it's been multiple visits and nothing's been repaired.

    The oven’s problem was when you're baking, it suddenly shuts off. The tech that came said it was the temperature sensor that was the problem and the motherboard. He said, “I'm gonna tell the warranty if they can order the parts. If they can, then I'll come back and put it on. If not, they will call you.” He called me back and told me American Home Shield was able to get the parts. He came back and installed it. American Home Shield was recommended by my coworker and it's perfect. I would again recommend it to another friend because I’ve tried it myself. I don't have to pay out of pocket. I already did my AC tune up too and paid $150 for our two units.

    I have been with AHS for at least 10 years. The service has always been on point until recently. I agree with the person who spoke of speaking with someone overseas. There was a huge communication gap which caused problems with the service. She would have to go back and clarify what she told the contractor after speaking with me. She also set up for me to pay for a follow up service and didn't understand when I was telling her when one contractor came to fix the toilet he also found the leak was actually coming from a sink a previous contractor had worked on.

    My sink is still damaged to this day because the plumber knocked the plumbing loose. Water leaked all into my garage. I've never had these issues before with AHS so I believe the company is going through changes. As a single mom I have to have a warranty service but hope AHS gets back to how diligent they used to be in taking care of their customers. I also use them for my rental property and haven't had any issues with those claims.

    My house is 15 years old and I wondered what was gonna start breaking. There is the furnace, the refrigerator, and all kinds of stuff on this house that are probably getting toward the age of breaking. We've had American Home Shield for two and a half years and we have used them several times now. I had my AC system installed about three years ago and every year, it needed to be refilled, which didn't seem right to me. The original company was going to charge me $650 to do some kind of pressure test. But I had Americans Home Shield so I called them.

    I go on the American Home Shield portal when I have a claim and I have to wait for them to get back to me. It's a little difficult to actually contact a person. If I were to call a different company directly, I would just call and some receptionist would answer and start my information. With American Home Shield, there's a little bit of a delay. But with my AC claim, I got an email within a day. American Home Shield dispatched Mountain Heating and Cooling and their tech came out the next day. Within 10 minutes, their tech figured out that there was a leak and he sealed that up. He had to wait two days to make sure the soldering was complete then he came and filled the unit up. It has been working ever since.

    I also used American Hoem Shield when my water heater and my refrigerator went out. Technicians fixed those. I'm having an issue with my washer and dryer. It doesn't always work on all the settings so I'm going to have to have American Hoem Shield look at that soon. The home warranty is worth it for the cost of home appliances these days.

    I have an AC heating unit and it's outside. That entire unit was replaced in December by Southern Comfort HVAC. In March, the brand new unit went out again. So they sent this company back out, but they said it was a part. They ordered a part, part came in, they replaced it and that wasn't the part. That didn't fix the problem. So then they said it was a gas pressure problem and they said I had to call my gas company.

    I called my gas company. They sent a person out and he said, "You don't have a gas pressure problem. You probably have a gas problem with the part where they replaced the gas line with the people who replaced the unit. It probably got a leak." They sent Bestway Mechanical out. When they came out, they said, "You got a gas leak and it was bad." They said, "They didn't even tighten this line up. It's been blowing gas off. If you came out here and lit a match or a spark, your whole house would have blown up."

    The guy from Bestway Mechanical said, "I'll go ahead and fix it, but it should be these guys fixing it because they did this.” I ended up paying $900 for that gas line for them to make when they put a new unit in, ‘cause they said they had to make a new line. So for the next two days, my family and I stayed at a hotel 'cause we could smell the gas and gas was just pouring out. Then they sent someone out and the gas leak problem was fixed. Then the guy contacted and said, “I fixed your gas leak so your heater should be working now.” But I got home and checked it, my heater was not working still.

    I called back to American Home Shield to let them know and they said, "It should be working." I said, "It's not." I was really frustrated. They sent Southern Comfort out to look at the heater again. The guy said, “You need an igniter. It's gonna take a couple of days for the igniter to come in." A couple of days later, I hadn't heard from him. I called them back and they said they're gonna come out in the morning of the 15th of May and put that part in.

    I got a survey from Southern Comfort HVAC. I gave them a 2 because as of now, my problem is still not fixed. They endangered my family's life. The next day I went to work, I got a call from Southern Comfort HVAC. She said, "I was wondering why you gave us a 2." I explained to her, "Your service to me has been terrible. I'm just being honest with you."

    Then she got nasty with me. So the appointment that I had on the 15th, she said, "I'll just cancel the appointment that we have for you on the 15th." At that point, I hung up the phone. I gave it an hour, maybe she had calmed down. I called back and she was a much better person. I called AHS so many times and half the time, they didn't even know what was going on. I ended up having to call the contractors to find out what was going on. I'm so disappointed with American Home Shield and I’m disappointed with the contractor they're sending out. This has been a total disaster.

    AHS keeps inching up on pricing every year. But other than that, they usually take care of me. Sometimes, it takes a few trips, which is hard for me because I work.     The initial issue that I had was that the garbage disposal wasn't working. I've had work done before by the vendor that American Home Shield sent out. The tech has done a great job. He fixed the garbage disposal this time around but the rubber wasn't sealed properly. So it leaked underneath my sink. I called the vendor and couldn't get ahold of them. I also called American Home Shield twice to get somebody to come back out, which was really excessive. It took about four days to get somebody back out here. That's a big issue with the service. To me, if they come out and fix something and it causes another issue, they should come back around. But I had to do another claim. It was a cumbersome process. In the meantime, I've got to address the leaked water underneath my sink. But that could have been mitigated a lot sooner.

    My stovetop is not functioning, it's to be replaced. I received a portal from AHS but the stovetops on their portal that fit my stove space are all out of stock. So, that then is the problem. The washing machine has been repaired. I was surprised that the washing machine was not replaced because the technician initially said it was going to need a lot of parts and take a lot of time. He felt that AHS was gonna replace both, so I was surprised when they didn't replace both.

    The disappointment came because I was told by the service person that the office will be closed the following week. They were at our place on Thursday and said that the paperwork would be submitted that evening when he returned to the office so that we would not be further inconvenienced by not having service with them being out for the week. And they left us a copy of the paperwork saying such. But AHS said they never got the paperwork. Somewhere there was a disconnect, and I'm leaning towards AHS as the disconnect because it was so thorough everywhere else. So, we were delayed for two additional weeks, because it took AHS that time or longer to get the paperwork. This last service has been the worst service I've received from AHS over the years that I've had this protection plan. But as long as the washing machine works, I'm happy.

    Integrity fixed something upstairs that had come undone with the AC and they put Freon in. Two Sundays ago, we woke up to find that there was a leak coming from near three holes they made. I called Home Shield right away and the Integrity guy came back. He said he would get back with his boss. We were waiting on them to come out but then I found out the past few days that Home Shield had canceled the claim. I called the contractor back and I'm still waiting to hear from Integrity to see what they can do to get in touch with AHS all over again. I'm not too happy about things until this gets fixed. Up until that point, everything was fine.

    One of the racks in the dishwasher broke and needed some parts to fix. The gentleman came out, diagnosed the problem, and ordered the parts. He came back a few days later when the parts arrived and installed them. He was knowledgeable, courteous and friendly. He did a great job. I would 100% recommend him and use him again. American Home Shield is pretty easy to use. We also used them for the icemaker on one of our refrigerators and it was taken care of. I like the confidence in knowing I’m covered if I have an issue.     We had two claims within 30 days. The one that didn't work out was with On Time Plumbing for a circulating pump that was making noise and not circulating water from the water heater. We had turned the pump off 'cause I didn't want to create any more damage. On Time has been here over the years and they have always been terrific. The two guys they sent checked the pump, turned it on and they heard the noise. They checked that it wasn't circulating the water. They turned it off and said they'd have to get American Home Shield's approval to replace the pump. They tried to call American Home Shield while they were here, they claimed they couldn't get through to them. So, they said they'll have to make a report and they'd get back to us. But, they did not.

    I called them several times and I got a recording. The same time, I called American Home Shield to say I hadn't heard from On Time. The first several times I spoke to American Home Shield, they said they hadn't received a report, so they couldn't make any decision. Finally, I got ahold of American Home Shield three, four days later while I was still trying to get through to On Time Plumbing who never responded. AHS told me "Yes, they had a report and there was nothing wrong." I tried to be calm and I said, "Well, if there's nothing wrong, why did they turn it off, tell me not to use it, and they acknowledged it wasn't working and it wasn't doing its job?"

    American Home Shield asked, "Well, would you like another opinion?". I said, "Yes, from somebody else." They sent Bear Plumbing out and they said the heater needs a new pump. They got the new pump and put it on. They came right on time and they were incredibly pleasant to deal with. They knew what the problem was immediately and tried to remedy it. But when they installed the thing, it wasn't tightened down and the pump connection was dripping. We called them and they fixed it. It's working beautifully now.

    American Home Shield was really good at communications for many, many years. But they are terrible now. It's difficult to report something unless you want to do it online. While that may be good for the younger people, we're in our 80s. I can use a computer if I have to, but I still like to use a telephone. When you have a problem and you're dealing with the kids in the Philippines who are all very polite but they have absolutely no authority to do anything. When I ask to talk to the next one up the ladder, they invariably say, "The supervisor is busy, but they will get back to you," and they never do. Nobody ever calls back from American Home Shield.

    The quality of the service once I get a claim going is still pretty good. But, American Home Shield's service has gotten worse and worse as their prices go up and up. AHS could improve their ability to get ahold of somebody and explain something to them. Other than that, the people they send out are usually pretty good and very polite. They get the job done and that's really what we have them for.

    When the tech came he called. Communication was great. He said a junction box needed to be installed which was aimed at springing it up to cool. Because the issue was the whole wiring, he had to call and find out whether American Home Shield would cover it. AHS said my claim didn't qualify and then they charged me the service fee. The tech didn't do anything. Do more research and find something a little better.

    The timeline that took for someone to first come out and look at the issue was not the best. Besides that, the individual that came out to do the repairs was professional. He looked it and knew exactly what he was doing. He needed to order a part. He did everything before he left. He requested through American Home Shield to authorize to get the part and he validated that before he left. It took about a week or so for the part to come in. But as soon as the part came in, he came in and put it in. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish. It took a little longer to get someone out there initially, but the work is always professional so far. So I would definitely recommend American Home Shield 100%.

    I'm so upset with American Home Shield. My husband and I are currently looking for another home warranty company at this point. We had Nicor Home Service before we switched over to American Home Shield. We switched over to them because I have a relative who thought they were good company and they could save us some dollars because we were looking to do some cut back in our budget. But I told my cousin that was the biggest mistake I ever had because you get what you pay for. I was paying a little bit more for Nicor but I was pleased with their service every time they came out. With American Home Shield, it's been an issue from day one. Every time we call, we have an issue. Either they can't fix it or there's nothing wrong, and then we have to pay $125 out of our pocket. So we're not really saving anything. We're in worse shape now with American Home Shield than we were with Nicor.

    We called American Home Shield for a plumbing issue. The guy came out here and didn't really do anything. The issue was with the showerhead and my daughter took it upon herself to get a new showerhead and fix it herself. But it was a waste that we paid $125 for the guy to come out. So I'm really disappointed.

    We first put the order through for a leaky faucet on April 1st. I have called American Home Shield at least five times since April. Here it is, May 13th, and the faucet is still leaking. There's no recollection. We went to two different contractors. The first one came out and the tech initially told us that we had to get a new faucet. He said he would order a part. Once we get the part, we'd hear back from him. A couple of weeks went by and we didn't hear anything. So we called him back and he told us he was trying to call us. We never got a call from TMD. But come to find out, they had the wrong phone number. So I wasn't pleased with their service. I called American Home Shield and they told us what they could do was send out a different contractor, which they did.

    American Home Shield sent out Patrick Murphy. Peter came out here and looked at our bathroom. He said, “Well, you may not be able to get this part, so we're gonna probably have to do our cash out.” He wrote up the sales receipts and said he would submit it. That was April the 26th. Here it is, May 13th. I've called three times since then, trying to get heads or tails on what's going on. When Peter left here, he said it was a done deal. He put the work order through and we should hear something within 24 to 48 hours. Two and a half weeks later, the problem is still not rectified.

    I spoke with someone last Wednesday and she said she was going to follow up with the contractor and let us know something. I told her we would get back in contact with them on Friday. I didn't call back on Friday because I was still giving the benefit of the doubt and giving them a little extra time to figure out what was going on. So we called Monday of this week, and still felt the same thing. They said they haven't heard from the contractor and that they were still trying to get in contact with them.

    I called back on Thursday and spoke with Christina. I told her I know it wasn't her fault, but I'm tired of doing the follow-up work. They should have something in place to follow up with these contractors and follow up at least with the customer to let them know that they're providing some customer service to them. I shouldn't have to do all those things and follow up just for a leaky faucet. It's ridiculous. I'm very upset and frustrated. They don't waste no time when they're taking our money payment. But their service sucks.

    I told Cristina to let me speak to a manager. But she said there was no manager available due to COVID. I told her that was totally unacceptable. So I told my husband that I don't think American Home Shield is the right company for us. We're now both on a fixed income so we need somebody that's going to be able to help us. If they can't help us with just a leaky faucet, what's going to happen if something major that we got covered happens? We're not gonna get appeased there either.

    I also called Peter from Patrick Murphy Plumbing and he told me that when he left our home on April the 26th, it was pretty much a done deal. He sent it over to the department it was supposed to go through but he said he had some difficulties submitting it because when he tried to call, he was initially on hold for forever. He said no one ever answered the phone. Then he said it wasn't going through the system that he was sending it over to. So he's been trying to get the information over there to them. He was under the impression American Home Shield had it. When he got a call from them that they didn't have it, he tried to send it again. But American Home Shield keep saying they don't have it. Patrick says he sent it. He says American Home Shield’s system is messed up, so somebody is lying.

    The guy that was here did a good job on tuning up the air conditioner and he was professional. I turned on the AC before he got here to see that there was nothing wrong with it that would have to be serviced and it was working, so I had turned it off. But when he got here, he turned it on, washed the condenser, and did whatever he was going to do to the unit. In the years I’ve had AHS, they've replaced the dishwasher and the refrigerator.     We've been able to get our repairs done that we needed and in a fairly quick time frame with American Home Shield. We've had people come out a few times when we've needed service and everything's been taken care of. The only issue we've had is there was one service provider who came out last year who told us one thing and then told the warranty company something completely different, and it was going to be a huge charge, so we asked for a second opinion. The second opinion was a very minimal fix and everything's been fine since then. Then we had another issue with one of our other AC units and American Home Shield tried to send the same person out that we had an issue with before. I told them I don't want that person out here ever again. They were able to get somebody else out. J&J Mechanical came and did a great job, so we've been satisfied with it.

    My furnace would try to turn on then it wouldn't fully circulate heat. I did a claim with American Home Shield and with their online tool, it is super easy to select what you need help with. You just go through the prompt. Somebody then contacted me that day. It was a local company. Their technicians knew what they were there for and they knew that it was a home warranty situation. They had to come back but that was easy too. There was another button to click on the home warranty site to re-engage the same company. I called American Home Shield for an electrical issue as well. Technicians came out and fixed the problem. I didn't have to pay anything so it was good.

    The oven was not working. The contractor called right away and got a technician out. He came early and got it done in 20 minutes. It was great. I'm happy with American Home Shield. But they're having some problems with their online application. Normally, you can go into your account, and then at the bottom it'll say "Request Service." Then it will go to that link, and then you can put your information in and do it online. But it has not been working. I had mentioned it to them the last time, and the gal did walk me through to get to the right link so that I could do it myself. But it's still not working in the account. So I always have to call. When I go to write my review, the link does not ever show up. So you can't write a review. I contacted American Home Shield and the problem is trying to get to somebody who's in IT that deals with that stuff.

    I had a claim for the stovetop and another claim for the oven. The oven got resolved but they're still gonna fix the stovetop. Originally, 2 Bald Guys thought the issue with the stovetop was a switch. But it turned out not to be the switch. It turned out to be a part that had to be replaced and they don't make the part anymore. So American Home Shield offered to replace the actual glass stovetop and get me a new one. It was delivered, but 2 Bald Guys has to come in and install it. Now we have a date set for them to install the stovetop. Overall, 2 Guys did a great job. They were friendly and quick. They did everything. They wore masks, and they were polite and informative when I asked them questions.

I had two refrigerators on the front porch so they can check it out. But they left and said they’d be back next week. No one called or came by.

    Original Review: I had two service calls, one for my hot water heater and one for the refrigerator. For my hot water heater, the plumber showed up on time. It's a beach house so I have to go up there and meet him. Then the refrigerator guy called me after the fact that he was there. I told him I left the refrigerator on the front porch because I'm not going to be there. We did not connect. I couldn't get ahold of him because their phone system automatically shuts down if they're driving or in the vehicle so we missed one another. Also, there was no follow up from Home Shield that my appointment did not get satisfied and that was last Thursday.

    When we can make the connection, it works out. But unfortunately, I've been trying to get the refrigerator looked at. It's fried now. It's been months trying to get it evaluated. The guy said it needed a new keyboard. I asked him how he could say that as he hadn't even seen it. Home Shield needs to get in touch with A & E and have them contact me to reschedule. The plumber said he rescheduled it for me for yesterday but I never heard a word from him. For those who are new to American Home Shield, find someone else 'cause they don't follow up. I've been with them for a good while and it's always a battle.

    Nothing would come on from the thermostat itself. I called American Home Shield and they didn't have anybody at the time. It took a day or two and then KSR Air came out.     There was a power failure and then our air conditioning wasn't working. So we called American Home Shield. They charged me 100 bucks to get somebody to come down here to take a look at it. The tech was great. He knew what to look for and he wasn't here very long. He told us what happened. He knew exactly what was wrong, and got it done and up and running. The only thing was that we knew somebody that could have came down here earlier to look at the solution. But because we couldn't use him, I had to wait three days without an air conditioner in Florida. We were miserable.

    I submitted an air conditioner claim to American Home Shield by telephone. That process was somewhat difficult because they try to get you to go to the computer and I'm not a computer person. They did say that the contractor was going to call me and give me a time when they were going to come. They gave me the phone number of the contractor in case they didn't call in a timely manner. They said that they would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. Total Air Care was pretty nice. The air conditioning serviceman came in and he knew right away what the problem was and he went straight to it. There was water dripping in the little catchment pan that we have there. I was kind of concerned about the dripping. He said when it's dripping like that, it gets clogged up. But it's not dripping anymore.

    One day, I opened the refrigerator and the lights were blinking like a strobe light. So, I went online, requested assistance, and it was pretty simple to get through. AHS dispatched David’s Appliance who had came out once before for another issue, so I was familiar with him. He looked at what was going on and he took down the information as far as what I needed, which included two lights for the refrigerator side and one for the freezer side. He ordered the lights, which were coming from China, and they took about a month to get here. Then once they got here, he came in and replaced them. And I haven't had any issues since. He said that instead of just placing one, he went ahead and placed all three of them.

    My daughter and her husband just recently purchased a house within the last nine months and we recommended Home Shield to them for their home warranty.     The garbage disposal wasn't working properly and Top Notch Home Services came out and fixed it quickly. They were very friendly and had good service. We also had someone come out to look at the broken microwave as well as someone to look at some of the light fixtures which weren't working properly. The microwave person is coming tomorrow. The fixes are still ongoing but AHS has been responsive. My wife complained though that during the claims submission process, she had to give them all the information multiple times and it slows things down. You have to go through the whole account verification process and it takes a little while.

    Through the years, American Home Shield has worked on my Samsung refrigerator, the dryer and my washing machine. On my washing machine, they fixed the spring in it. That was kinda simple. The dryer, the parts were so old, it would have cost too much to get it fixed. I've got to get the paperwork in and get my money for that. With my refrigerator, they came out four times. That's how bad it was. I bought it in 2013 and it started acting up in 2018. So, that was a blowout.

    One of the things that the plumber helped us with our recent claim was that the toilet seemed to clog when someone goes number two. He felt pretty confident he cleared it, but it happened again, twice. He suggested I call and ask for a recall and then he would schedule me as soon as possible. I'm gonna have to call American Home Shield about it.

    We also did our keys, changed the locks, and that was easy peasy. We made another claim for our appliances, but then we cancelled because the person that they referred us to was a flippin nut. He said he was still at a family home and he couldn't leave it. I told him I just wanted communication because I built my whole day around him being here. He told me not to blame him for my appliances being broken. It's the real estate agents and they're making tens of thousands of dollars then everything falls on him. I was just like, “Whoa.”

    We had a couple more text exchanges and he wouldn't commit to a time or a day so I called AHS and asked them to never refer him to me and cancel that. I don't want him in my house. However, the one thing with AHS that annoyed me is that they couldn't transfer me to another provider. I had to cancel that request, and then wait for the refund, unless I wanted to pay another $100 out of my pocket. I was just having a low cash for a day that day. Now I have to call back, go through the whole process, and spend my day doing it again. They’re still convenient and helpful though.

    Our AC unit was not running properly, and it turned out there's no refrigerant in the AC unit. Submit that claim to AHS was incredibly easy. The technician that came out was wonderful. I work in customer service as well and so I have a pretty high standard. He was probably one of the best customer service representatives that I've ever worked with. The reason that the coolant was out was due to the last company who was out here last year. What he could do only was really just fill it up a little bit. But he stated that they put in a new system last year, and it shouldn't have been low anyway. So, he just did what he could and then he advised me, "Hey, this is what the next steps that you need to do to get that previous company out here to fix their mistakes."

    He's really good at doing what he could for the time being. However, there's not a lot he could have done. He put in enough refrigerant to kind of tide us over until the previous company could be out here and fix their mistake. AHS is doing what they can and as fast as they can. So, it's good. It's really simple to get what you need taken care of. So far, the companies that they choose are pretty good. It's very easy to work with them.

    I told the company when I requested service that I had two items. One was my Thermador microwave that had problems with closing the door and setting up the temperatures. The other was for a stove oven which is also a Thermador. Techs came out and they evaluated the situation. They ordered the part for both. When they came back, the guy fixed the microwave then he got a call and he left. He told me “I can’t do the oven because it takes time. I have to pull it out of where it’s at and I have a call.”

    A couple of weeks later, I requested that somebody be sent out to fix my stove oven. The part was already in. The guy was sent back and he came with another person. When they worked on the oven, they removed the front door. They thought it was the ignition and they fixed it. They told me the oven was ready and that I could start using it but they didn’t show me anything about it. They left and I had to do my errands because I had been waiting for three and a half hours for them. When I came back home, I started the oven on cleaning because it needed to be cleaned. I turned it on and the same issue happened again. The oven was not warming up. I tried again on bake, and broil, and nothing.

    I called first the appliance company and I told their guy that the issue wasn't fixed and that the oven was not warming. He said he would address the issue by sending the information to AHS so they could send a Thermador technician. AHS sent Stella whose guy spent about two hours working on the oven. He made several calls. He took the oven out of the wall and got it working again. He said that the problem was some wiring that was put on wrong. The wires needed maintenance so he went ahead and he fixed them. I've been very pleased with AHS. The people address issues right away. I have three houses with them, two of which are rentals. On the times that I called, they responded well.

    I had issues with one of the guys who first worked on my dishwasher and microwave in October when we started. American Home Shield ended up sending somebody else out to finish the problem. That first guy came in with somebody and didn't even attempt to fix anything. Because my washing machine was on, and at that point, he just went through and got the serial numbers to automatically have them replaced. And then he kept saying he would come and replace a part on my dishwasher, but then said that he would have it replaced. I sent screenshots to the lady that was helping me with my case. All the excuses that he kept giving me, that he didn't make it out because his mother-in-law died. And then he didn't come out because he was involved in a bad car accident on the highway, and something to do with a ladder. I just kept getting excuses of why he didn't come and I was like, “Okay. Accidents happen. Whatever.”

    And then we finally got our replacement. It took him a while to come and he had to keep going to get tools or he needed this and that. He came in at 9 o'clock in the morning. He left to go to town to get a part. And at 12 o'clock, he said he was having lunch and picking up his partner and would be at my house. Come 5 o'clock, I was like, “Look. My water's been turned off since 9 o'clock this morning and I have two kids here. I need my water back on.” So he came out and turned my water on and left. And then he didn't put the microwave in correctly. The dishwasher was incorrectly working and he kept saying he would just come back and do it. When he left, I just googled the code that it was pulling up and all it needed was my filter taken off and the dog hair cleaned off of it and my washer was working again.

    We had so many issues with this guy that the lady just sent somebody else out. And the Brandon guy that came out didn't need any parts. The thing that he needed was on the old dishwasher, he took it off, put it on the new one, set up the new one, did a new installation request. They sent me out a new microwave because the other guy messed it up and broke the thing that turns, the little gray thing with the rolls. They just put in a brand new microwave three days ago.

    Michelle ended up taking on the case and I told her everything this guy did and said, and I sent her all screenshots of the text messages. She reported him to his business company, and had a new person come out. That was when the new guy came out and fixed my dishwasher, did a re-request for a new microwave. As soon as I got it, the next day, he was here, installed it, and that was it. He showed us everything that the guy did wrong. And he was like, “I don't know how this guy is still licensed with American Shield.” He took pictures for himself of how bad he installed my microwave and he broke the thing. And then the hose was kinked on my dishwasher because the guy kept saying it was leaking. When he turned it on, it was spraying out. So when I put in a new request for my dryer that went out, I emailed that lady and said, “Please do not let them send that guy out.” I would never let him set foot in my house again.

    The AC unit upstairs was not cooling properly. American Home Shield's website is great. I put in a claim via online, and they did send a text to alert me who the contractor would be. ATR Heating & Cooling was excellent. They came out twice because the problem still persisted. So, they came the second time. I wasn't here for the first technician who came, but I was home for the second technician, and he was excellent, very thorough and quite efficient. He narrowed down the problem and made a call to his boss. He explained what happened and what to expect. He tested everything. Everything was working the way it should be. He also advised if the problem does persist or returns, they would make themselves available via American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield's turnaround time for someone to call you is unbelievable. My experience thus far in any situation has been quite efficient. One time, within a couple hours, I was getting a call. I didn't expect the call. My own expectation was I won't get a call till Monday morning at the very earliest. It was the weekend by the time I got a call. I just put that request in. That was fast. Also, the contractors that they do have seem to be excellent in my experience thus far. I've had a few incidences and all of them have been really outstanding experience. They came down, solved the problem and exceeded my expectations time-wise and what they did.

    The only thing was when the first guy from ATR came and the issue didn't seem resolved. But that wasn't a big issue for me, especially when they have a turnaround time and then someone comes out and says, “Oh, no. We will adjust it again and see what happened and go from there.” My sister who was here for the first fellow said he was wonderful. His customer service was great. It could have been the system didn't work properly after repairing it. The experience overall was really what matters to me because ultimately, the issue was resolved. American Home Shield has been excellent in every way.

    Finally American Home Shield hires reputable people to come out and service orders. Before, I was going to cancel because they were sending what it seemed like unlicensed service people that would come out and half-do jobs, or come out, and then three or four months later, I was having the same problem. Leak Seekers and the heating and air guy both came out and they were reputable and very professional. The latter was nice. He didn't find the problem, but he cleaned the coil. I've had it on since he cleaned it. He said he didn't see where there was a delay with it coming on. Because my system was serviced twice last year for the same problem. He went on and did the pre-weather maintenance, in preparation for the hotter temperatures. I like him.

    I also liked the guy. He came out, told me that my sink was cracked. It wasn't covered in the warranty. I called to confirm. Because like my garage door, AHS told me that the coil was not covered, charged me for a bunch of other stuff, and then ironically, which I could guess that with my eyes closed, the stuff that they charged me for still wasn't covered, and probably was not needed. But I needed my garage door fixed, so they charged me for a bunch of other stuff. But the guy was thorough. He came back the next day, put my sink in, and put my new fixtures on.

    I was late for my appointment and dead set in the middle of work when they called me for my appointment. So, the tech and his wife called me. I was a bit short with his wife, but I apologized to them. They have already known how happy I was and how apologetic I was for cutting them short in the middle of a workday. But they waited on me. They came back and did my job.

    Having AHS takes the edge off of having to take care of things that will break or wear and tear over time in the home. It requires me to do a bit more research as to what is covered and not. But if something is not covered, and the guy comes out, at least I know that the person that AHS is sending out is capable of fixing what needs to be repaired, and even diagnosing the problem and getting it done.

    I had issues with my toilet running. I've had problems with this toilet. I’ve had four calls about that toilet. So, I paid four times to have the issue addressed. Because it was past 30 days, I always had to repay the $75 charge. Normally, when I put the order in, I call the contractor or they'll call me after a couple of days. This particular plumber called right away. So, there was no lag time in terms of the call. He explained to me how old my toilet was, but he would be able to take care of the problem. It was a really good experience.

    Then I had a backup with my sink. Something was backing up in my bathroom sink downstairs. So again, they called immediately. They set the appointment up. Within a day or so, they came out. They called to let me know that they were en route. Then I got the text message also about how far they were out. They were on time and were very professional. When they came in, they looked at the issue, told me what was wrong and what they needed to do. They had to go and grab a piece. They were quick. There was no mess. They were thorough. I also had an electrician come out prior to the plumbing company. He fixed my baseboard heaters. He was awesome as well.

    I didn't realize that if I wanted to request a certain vendor, I would have to call in and tell American Home Shield. They need to change that. There should be a line to say, “Do you have a preferred vendor with us?” And if it's not a current vendor, then they could just email me saying, “Hey, it's not a current vendor. Would you like to go with so and so?” It should not be the next person in the queue. Also, when you're calling about the same problem, you shouldn't have to constantly keep repaying if it’s the same issue.

    I bought my first house in ‘98 in Philadelphia. I've had American Home Shield on each house that I've had. Now, the people in Philly was great but this last year, I wasn't as impressed with the vendor selection since I've moved to South Carolina. I don't know if they flipped some folks around, but I've been very impressed with the latest two companies that they used. I was gonna let go of my service and try to find a different company but they brought me back to the other side. So, I’m gonna stay with them. I'm gonna rock it out a little longer because within the last 30 days, I've had two vendors out and they've been everything. They were really great.

    The first people American Home Shield assigned us to do the air conditioning was not a good company and were bad. They are not anybody I will ever call. As it turned out, I just bought us a new air conditioner. AHS' policy on replacing the component, then this company wanted another $1,000 on top of that to get a building permit, and then they lied. And then, they were going to sell me an air conditioner and they said we could get one with an interest-free loan for nine grand. And then, what chapped my hide was they hooked me up with a third-party company to do the financing, and to me, they set me up with a $35,000 credit line which I didn't ask for. So, I had to call up Synergy and canceled. What they were trying to sell us for 9,000, we got for 4,500. And that thing where they set me up with some sort of weird credit, there was a card involved. But I don't need 35,000 worth of credit. I didn't like their way of operating.

    We had the feeling that Anthem Mechanics that showed up were using the referral as an opportunity to do a bait and switch. He had this whole rap down about, "Oh, you don't want to just get it fixed because you're going to have to wait for a whole month without air conditioning," which was not true. Because I would have to wait to get a building permit, which was not true. It would cost $1,000 for the building permit, etc.

    Also, there was no Freon soaking the concrete pad underneath the air conditioning unit before the tech came, but there was afterwards, and part of what he wanted to do was sell us a bunch of Freon. We have a five-ton condenser which we got from someone else, a good brand with a 10-year guarantee for $4,500. He was going to sell us one for $9,000. And there are several complaints with the Better Business Bureau about this particular company with things that sounded very similar, where they charge somebody several hundred dollars for a building permit, but they haven't pulled any building permit at all, and so on. That company was just looking to scam people, showing up and doing what he was doing. We ended up deciding to just go ahead with another company and get a new condenser from them rather than just have a repair made.

    The garage door was fine. We were happy with them. But what I don't like about the way AHS does business is that they won't give me a list of vendors that I can evaluate and then tell them, "Okay, I do not want this vendor, I do want that vendor." It's cosmic potluck on what I get. So, the first time out was not pleasant. And when I insisted, they balked at that. They said, "No, you got to give us $75 first." We're probably going to fire them.

    We were told this by the garage door vendor that we did not need to have the whole mechanism for the garage door opener to be replaced. But when we talked to her ahead of time, she told us American Home Shield will not pay for a battery backup unit. They make you pay for it as if it's an upgrade. But the state of California requires that all units installed after some date to have battery backup. So, all the other home warranty companies are paying for the battery backup unit as a replacement for the door opener, and AHS will not. That's the main reason we're going to switch to someone else.

    I noticed that I had a puddle on my floor but I didn't know where it was coming from. I mopped the water one night and came back that morning with another puddle of water. I opened my sink and the pipe had expanded. I had a busted pipe under my sink and it ran all over my whole house. It was a mess. It had been running for a while.

    I called in the claim on Friday. A rep called me and told me who the provider was. I left him a message. He called me and said that he was on a job. He would be here Wednesday and he would call me Tuesday night. But he didn't call me to tell me of his arrival. I had to stay home all day Wednesday. He called me to say he was 30 minutes away from my house. He just showed up sometime after lunch. That was the only thing. I would have preferred a time for him to come. The tech was an older gentleman so he had to have help. He did the work excellently and he knew what he was doing, but he was a little slow. Having a home warranty provider alleviates having to pay out of pocket with the exemption of the 125 service fee.

    I called American Home Shield because my dryer wasn't working. The dryer guy came out. He said, "Well, you're not getting enough voltage out of your breaker box for this. It's supposed to be a 220, you're only getting 110 amperage." Therefore, I called American Home Shield and had the electrical company come out and work on it. They fixed the breaker, and then I was able to call the dryer people to come back out, and they fixed that problem.

    On every occasion that I've called AHS, everything seemed to be pretty simple except when I had an issue with my washing machine. The company came out, they looked at it, the guy ordered the parts and told me it'd be 5 to 10 days. 10 days went by, and there was nothing. So then, I called the gentleman who was fixing the dryer, and he told me that the part still hadn't arrived and he was waiting. I called American Home Shield. It was a good 10 days before the parts were even ordered through American Home Shield.

    It took probably a month and a half to finally get to the resolution that when they got the parts, the guy came, he fixed the washer but it wasn't fixed. That wasn't the problem. Finally, they said it was unrepairable. My biggest complaint with that was the amount of time it took them to come to that resolution. I would call them often and say, "Listen, it's been almost a month and a half. I have a family of five. I have to go and do laundry off-site to do the laundry." Their rep said, "Well, we'll give you your $50 fee." You pay a $100 fee for them to come out and do the work, and they offered me 50. I said, "Well, I think I deserve the whole fee back, the $100, seeing that it's a month and a half of how much money I've had to pay out of pocket to do laundry because it's taken this long." Somebody dropped the ball along the way.

    After calling for three weeks, finally, they were able to get to the correct person. They would always say, "I'll have a supervisor call you. I'll have a supervisor call you back tonight." They never call me back. So, the part with the washer, I was very discouraged with American Home Shield. But every other issue that I've had in my home with it, to this day, they have been fine. My refrigerator went and they were great about that. They came right out, they got two opinions on it.

    I used American Home Shield when I had my rental in Charlotte, North Carolina. When I bought my house here, I chose to stick with them. My advice, make sure you have all the items that you would want covered initially. Otherwise, you'll have to wait ‘til the next enrollment period. Recently, my heat wasn't working. The repair company came out and miraculously, it turned on. Later on though, I discovered a leak.

    I had to call back and they came and supposedly fixed it by relieving some of the water. That didn't fix it, so they came back again. They had to replace something and that was supposed to have fixed it, then I found out that it’s still leaking. I had to call back again and it’s straightforward whenever I call in and when I needed to get the recall. Although I've had to have several recalls, the repair company has been very professional, courteous, and kind with trying to get scheduling.     We have one unit upstairs and one downstairs, and we noticed that the downstairs kind of stayed warm. We looked at the thermostat and noticed that we have it cooling at like 74, but it kept showing 77 in the house when it was not that hot outside. It's kind of weird that the AC would struggle to keep up. It turned out the AC was not turning on because there was a lot of debris and a lot of gums with it in one of the pipes. That was our most recent ticket to American Home Shield was for. When the repair guy came, that was kind of what he diagnosed. He really explained it to me as far as what was going on and what I could do to prevent it in the future like kind of preventive maintenance. That was really nice of him. We cleared out the piping and before we know it, the AC was running up pretty good. He checked all the vents in the entire house to see what kind of temperature we were getting. It worked out. It was a very positive experience.

    I have another ticket out to American Home Shield for a refrigerator issue. When the winter storm happened in February, our water dispenser was being really weird. It would dispense immediately and then shut off immediately. Then it would go on, off, on, off even if you're holding down the button. We were confused. I just put a brand new filter on there. Then the storm happened and something messed up. When the folks came out the first time, they went behind the fridge, and there was a hose back there where the tech said it was kind of clogged up and he cleaned that but it didn't really help. Then he ordered some type of valve regulator. We assumed that was the problem. And he ordered a filter as well.

    When they come back the next time, it was another set of people. They only came with a filter. So, we put the filter on and it didn't do anything. I told them, "Okay. Well, maybe it's not the filter. What about that valve regulator that you guys ordered?" They never got it. So, I was confused. The other people were confused because they weren't the ones who placed the order. The other folks did. After that, I told them, "We've been dealing with this issue for a while. We are like at the end of March at this point. This really needs to get fixed." So he went and did whatever he does in the car and he left. Then the next day, I got an email from AHS rating my experience on the closed ticket. I was like, "Okay. This isn't closed. This is really weird. They're saying that it's resolved, but it's not."

    I called AHS. They open up another ticket. Then the people who came the first time were the ones who came back. I'm not sure what they ordered because their return is scheduled for the 18th. We'll see what they will end up doing. It's been like a lot of back and forth, miscommunication as far as parts and diagnosing what the actual issue is. It's been really frustrating. We're in May now. This happened in February. I've had pretty good luck with things for AC, but with this fridge situation, it's another animal.

    Submitting the claims is easy. You can just go right on to their website. Once you get a contract, you just go in and say request service. If you don't see your item on the list, you give a little detail. You don't even have to call in like they used to before. So, them implementing the service requests online was a huge improvement versus staying on hold for hours, trying to get in touch with somebody.

    American Home Shield did an awesome job with my claim. I called in that morning because our heater, all of a sudden, sounded like a jet plane under the house. I got a call from Comfort Connection within two hours of me submitting the ticket to AHS. And then, they were out that afternoon and were able to get the part and fix our heater, so we’d have heat. We were having another night with a dropping down in the 30s. That last group that came out was awesome. However, some of the people AHS sends out are not as easy to deal with. We've had plumbers that have come out before that we almost feel like we're an inconvenience. They’re there to help you but they just don't give you that warm, comfortable feeling. But American Home Shield does a good job when it comes to most of the items that we have problems with.

    When you have an appliance that actually dies, AHS needs to move faster on replacing the item. We had a washer one time that had to be replaced, and it took them over a month to do it. We had to keep escalating because we were sick of going to my mother-in-law's house. And then, finally somebody got online and said, “Oh, yeah. They should have just done that. Here, go pick out a new washer. Send us the receipt, and we'll send you an X amount for this.”

    We've been with American Home Shield since 2005. We wouldn't have been with them for 15 years if we were unhappy with their service. I've recommended them to numerous other people because it is a good service. There are years when we go where we never had to call in an item. And then, there are other years when we had several items that we have to call in. Out of reviewing them and Choice Home Warranty and the other one, AHS has done the best out of all of them. The warranty is a good program. I just don't understand how warranty companies can stay in business with all the stuff that gets called in.

They were very professional, and they followed up. They thought they fixed that, but it was still leaking. So, now I have to get a new evaporator, but I like when I just pay my fee of 125 and somebody comes out and does what I need them to do. I liked the price of American Home Shield in general. I really liked that if they were not able to fix a problem, then they will replace it. Submitting a claim is super easy. I do it online and I can do it at any time of the night. Everything has been working out great for me.

    American Home Shield is a little bit on the expensive side at $100 a call and $60 a month. But so far, the quality of service has been good. I had Choice before and they were terrible so I dropped them after six months. I did the claim online with American Home Shield and it doesn't allow any messaging. It's just what appliance or whatever it is that you need to be worked on. You can't expand upon it. Other than that, a service guy worked on my freezer and it's working now. He was outstanding.     When I first purchased my home, there was a mix-up with policies. When I called in initially, they were having difficulty finding my policy, which was frustrating because, as it is, buying a new home and having everything lined up is crucial in that time of high stress. But it's just making sure that everything that is discussed with the previous homeowners is included in that policy. I was told that my swimming pool and my spa would be included, so in my mind, that was included in the bundle. But come to find out, it was two months after when I actually was able to get ahold of somebody from American Home Shield, because I had no clue what it was, I was notified that it was not included in the package. After reaching out to the homeowners, they were also under the impression that it would be included.

    I didn't get a rundown of everything that would be included in that package because I didn't have access to the policy itself due to the fact that there was an issue with the policies. And it was a lot of back and forth with my Realtor and AHS. It was a couple of weeks after we had closed that the policy was obtainable and I was able to look through it. But by that time, we had already closed, and my spa and the swimming pool were not included in that.

    Recently, my water was leaking and it appeared to be an older heater anyway. But the contractor came out two days after I placed the call. They got ahold of AHS and ordered a new one. They then came out on Friday of last week to place the new one in. But I felt like nobody reached out to me to let me know what would happen.

    I was told that they would come out and just look at the unit and see if it would be repaired or replaced. But when somebody came out, they didn't tell me, "Oh, it's gonna be replaced," or "It's gonna be repaired." So, I ended up calling back to KAA and just asked, “Hey, a question. Are we gonna replace it?" or "Are we waiting for parts?" or "What are we doing from here on out?" And then finally, they told me that they would go ahead and replace it and that they were just waiting for the water heater to be shipped to them.They should keep the customer in loop with everything, about what would take place after they came out and troubleshoot. But on hindsight, everything went well. Very professional, quick to respond, and polite.

    We had AHS before. With the house we had before when we moved in, the air conditioner was shot. The techs came out and fixed it. It broke down about a month later. Came out again. Then finally, they determined that they needed to replace it. It took forever to get their air conditioner unit in so we can get it installed. When they did, it worked. But about a year later, it broke down again. Only this time, I was getting tired of it so I got my own person to come out look at it. He said the unit that they put in to my house was so old, it wouldn't be covered by any warranty by the manufacturer. So obviously, they had some air conditioner units sitting in their warehouse. When it came up, that's the one I got, which shouldn't have been done. I should have gotten a new air conditioner.

    Recently, AHS was given to me as part of the negotiations when I bought the house and East Ohio Furnace came out for our claim. The tech was polite, professional, did his job and didn't get in my way. I've also had no issues when I went online for the dishwasher. Wasn't working right when I moved in the house. They sent somebody out and they said they had to replace some of the parts.

    I've been having problems with my toilet and it's mainly my upstairs bathroom. I had two technicians come out here and they were supposed to have done something. But the toilet wasn't flushing. So I had a technician come out here, had a problem, and another one came out. I was complaining because it was for the same issue but American Home Shield said that it had been 60 days since the last one came so they gotta charge me my copayment.

    I just had a guy come out last week and he said that since I had been over 30 days, they gotta charge me the $75 copay. But then they would reverse it. I just accepted what he said because he was telling me that it was a sensor, a dual flush and all this other stuff. I still didn't agree with him but I was not paying another $75. I just have to flush the best way I can. This last tech came about two weeks ago. He was saying something about the fitting in there. He showed me that when you'd flush it, you gotta do this crazy stuff to it.

    I liked that American Home Shield didn't have exclusions for pre-existing conditions. That's one of my fears because my house is 10 years old and they're gonna exclude the pre-existing conditions and just say, "Well, your house had problems before we got there" and blame everything on pre-existing conditions. American Home Shield said, “As long as the machine and equipment is working properly now, we won't ding you for anything that may have happened in the past.”

    I had a problem with my downstairs air conditioner. It was hitting the float switch and cutting itself off. The contractor came out quickly and got it all taken care of. The tech was there for an hour and a half testing everything because we initially thought it was low on refrigerant. But he checked it all out, said the refrigerant levels were good and didn't need to do anything there. He did a full diagnostic on the system and flushed those lines out. Everything seems to be going good after that.

    We had a leaky toilet and the tech replaced some part in the back of it. It was easy to submit the claim. I wish I could choose my own people, but I haven’t had any issues with the contractors that I had. Sometimes the deductible is a little high. Because when they fix the issues, it costs less than what we pay for the deductible. Overall, AHS is a good thing to have. But if you are a little handy, you could probably do the work for cheaper price. I could’ve saved myself a couple of $1,000.

    Technicians came out initially to do a regular check on my AC to make sure it got ready for the season. When they were out here, they noticed that the compressor wasn't coming on so they added a booster to get the compressor to kick off when the fan did. The work was done quickly and professionally.     The garbage disposal didn't work and it was the same disposal that American Home Shield's last couple of people gave me a lecture about. This time, they sent out Water-Source Plumbing and they are the best contractor AHS ever sent. I love them. They looked at my master bathroom and the leak ended up destroying my cabinet. Then in the kitchen, there was a piece that had come unloose. They fixed the leak right off and they were professional.

    But I was a little nervous about the other people that AHS were sending. Some people who have come out here were the type that I wouldn't let in the house whether I was there or not, I just didn't want my kids to see those kind of people. I used to be a licensed social worker and I specialized in trauma and addiction. And they sent one guy over here that was active at it. He was high while he was here and I could see that. It was ridiculous so, I was so upset with AHS about it. But I try to be a loyal customer. And while some people think that they paid too much into their home warranty as much as they've gotten into it, for me that's really not true because I get peace of mind. I don’t sit around and worry if something breaks.

    Recently, I ended up with COVID and lost my job because I had it. And I got the job because I had just taken sole custody of my youngest child. So, we were stretched thin and I couldn't even get unemployment benefit. But I always have $100, so I didn't have to worry. When my refrigerator went out here, they said it was trash and found me a new one. And that was cool. Even though I lost 300 bucks worth of groceries in my refrigerator at the time, I only paid AHS 100 bucks and I got a refrigerator. So, it cost me less than it cost my groceries. In the end, I was able to go and buy food with the little bit of money I had instead of having to worry about buying a refrigerator then trying to get food. So, it's the one thing I didn't worry about. I also just bought a car and I'm worried about it than I am with my house or my appliances.

    So, I've been blessed and God has really been good even through all the difficulties. We have a rental property in San Antonio that I'm about to move in to and I'm going to purchase another one. But my brother didn't put Home Shield on it, so when I move into the house, I'm going to put it on the house. I just didn't know if I could get a discount if I have three or four houses on AHS. Other than that, I love them.

    We used AHS when our dishwasher broke. They got someone in and fixed that, so we decided to buy another year with them. Then recently, the AC was blowing air but wasn’t getting cold. I submitted a claim online and it was super easy. We got the name of the company that was going to come out, so I called them briefly,. They said that they had gotten the notice from AHS and they were able to come out the next day. So that was a win for me. The repairman who came out was awesome and on time. The guy was super knowledgeable and he walked me through what was going on. He fixed the AC and it was a super quick thing. Other than that, we're moving in the next couple of weeks overseas, so we had to drop AHS. But we're glad we had them for the second year, just for the AC alone.

    American Home Shield has been very beneficial. We had these items that had been here for a while when we purchased the house. We thought that there could be something that could go wrong with them in the next couple of years.     American Home Shield's website is pretty simple to use. But I would personally change it and put some categories where you could really spell out the issue because the issues in the website list didn’t really explain things well. I did a claim for my washer, dryer, and dishwasher. Xigent Appliance Repair was our given contractor.

    My dishwasher was not drying and it turned out it had a bad heating element at the bottom so the technicians repaired it. The washer had a bad transmission and the dryer had a faulty door switch. Those were replaced as well. Everything is working beautifully. The technicians provided great service and they were nice, quick, and efficient. They did everything they said. They were the gold standard. The only thing I didn't like was American Home Shield billed me twice and I need somebody to refund me.

    American Home Shield was a contingency for us buying the house. We wanted some protection on some of the major items in the home like the HVAC and AC as well as appliances. We have a two-year plan and we will probably continue it. Other than the billing issue, I had a fantastic experience. And I will call Xigent for everything as long as they’re around now. I'm really big on customer service, especially in this day and age. I want things professional and quick. Xigent had the best staff.

    We closed on this home that we own at the end of February. We noticed about two weeks ago that there was a water spot in the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom. Right above that is our laundry room. Before we called American Home Shield to have somebody come out, I had gone up to the laundry room and pulled the washer and dryer out from the wall. You could tell that the wall had been patched and repainted. So, it was probably something that the previous owners of the house also dealt with. We went ahead and had someone come out. It turned out that when we moved in and we had our washer and dryer hooked up, the people that hooked it up did not connect one of the hoses all the way and it ended up being a leaky hose.

    I was interested in seeing what the technician was going to do just in the event that it was something more like a different issue. I kind of hung out with him just so I could get a feel for what it was gonna entail. He was very thorough, very polite and respectful. I told him, “I don't want to hover over you. I've got stuff I can do. But if you don't mind, I just wanted to kind of see what was gonna go on.” He was very accommodating. So, I took a look and he walked me through everything that he was going to do to check. He saw that one of the hoses was leaking, but then he went ahead and he ran the washing machine just to make sure that as it was running, there wasn't something more to it. I was grateful that he didn't just say, “Oh, well, this is obviously it.” He did a couple of other steps to make sure that it wasn't anything more.

But that's the only thing I don't like about doing it online. Whoever AHS gets to work in your home, it would be important to look them up or look at their reviews as far as the background.     I love American Home Shield. They're great. I have a good experience with them. The most recent claim that I've had service people out for was a drippy faucet in the bathroom and the kitchen. The service tech came out in a timely manner the next day and assessed the situation and said he had to go get parts. It was five days because it was over a weekend before he came back. So we're without kitchen water. When he got back, the parts that he got, said wasn't the right one, that it had to be something in the faucet. So they have reordered the faucet and now it's going to be another week before they come back to fix it. But the one in the bathroom, they fixed.

    I don't have any problem with American Home Shield. Most of the time, American Home Shield itself has been very prompt when I have placed a claim, to call me back, to assign it to a vendor, to send me notices and updates of what's going on. I have some issues with their vendors. They’re slow. I was expecting them to come out and assess the damage and have the parts on truck like most plumbers that I have dealt with in the past and be able to just fix it rather than assess the problem, go back, order the parts and come back.

    The website has some issues. The chat doesn't work. I can choose multiple appliances, and then they'll call or send someone out and take care of one of the appliances. That's a broken part of their website. I wasn't trying to take advantage of it. But they issued the work order for the dishwasher, and the tech came and did that. But then no one came to look at the refrigerator. So I called but they didn't understand. Then they issued a new work order and cancelled the work order that had already been completed for the dishwasher and sent out She Fixed It. It was a great company. The tech was a great lady to work with. She works for herself. She was thorough and very kind. She took her time, made sure that she analyzed and looked over every aspect of the refrigerator and listened to the issues that I was explaining. So she was very good.

    I don't like that American Home Shield uses a calling center. Every time I call in, I'm speaking to someone who has a script. English isn't their first language. I don't have a problem with that. But they're not super knowledgeable. They have one job to do and they do it to the best of their ability. If I really need something or help, then I get transferred back to the States. Then I talk to someone who can actually help me. Overall, I feel good about having the warranty. The only dissatisfaction I have is that they use a third party or outside source for their incoming calls and scheduling.

    I've had American Home Shield for the past five years and saved me thousands of dollars on repairs. They stand by the technicians that come out to the house, which is fantastic.     The tech found out that there was a crack or something in the furnace and reported it and said it had to get replaced. I got a little $100 deductible that I'm paying for Home Shield, and come to find out later, after everything's all said and done, it's gonna cost me $2,000 out of pocket along with the install. I’m not really happy about that because I don't have $2,000 sitting around to just go towards this. I'm in the middle of a problem that I have with a leak in my floor under my kitchen sink and I already had to pay 1,000 for that. I also had a bike situation and I had to pay 1,000 for that. Now I gotta pay $2,000 out.

    This was last week so that was a cold day. After that, it's been hot ever since. What I didn't know was that when he turned off that furnace, it turned off my AC in my upstairs, so my bedroom stays on scorch throughout the night and then goes into the day, gets really hot, and then comes back down again. But nothing can be done until I get that taken care of. When I called my insurance company, they said I should have called them first instead of calling them. I didn't know it was even that type of situation. Now I don't get any assistance and it just is what it is.

    The first people who were called out was for a dishwasher claim and the guy who came out was going to install a new cable. There was a valve that he needed to turn off under the sink and it would not turn off completely. So, he needed to pull the dishwasher halfway out. If he pulled it out and unhooked that cable, it would still be leaking water all over the place. So, he said that I needed to have a plumber called out. Wicker came out and installed a new valve on there so he could shut it off. And then, Lakeview Appliance came back out yesterday and installed the cable. So, I've had three different calls and they did their job. The only thing I didn't like is I called out for a contractor to come out to fix the dishwasher and I was charged another $75 fee because a plumber had to come out. It should all be done within the one service call.

    The claims process with American Home Shield has always been easy. If it wasn't, I'd have been done with them. We've been in the house for 10 years and I've never let the warranty lapse. AHS has always been spot-on. The contractor stayed in constant contact and told me which day they would be out, and sent me text messages and emailed me as well. It’s easy to communicate and to get things handled with AHS. I'm not a handyman, so these are for somebody else. I’m paying $75 for somebody else to take care of it and I know it gets done right without me tearing half the house apart.

    Recently, AHS has been great. I’ve had experience in the past on an air conditioner or a hot water heater and we got to get it up to code. At the time they got it up to code, it was more than what I could have bought the hot water heater or the part myself and had an air conditioner person come out. It was not a good deal. That should be left up to the consumer if they want it up to code or not because it's going to be me. If I go to sell the house, it's got to be up to code. So, I'm going to have to be responsible for that. But at that time, when I was having something fixed, I shouldn't be responsible to have it up to code unless it was going to cause a fire hazard, then I could understand. They needed the coils upstairs and that was gonna cost me 700 bucks. Two times of that and I could've got a whole unit.
