    American Home Shield was very prompt in taking care of my claim for the AC and once I got the request through, they gave me numbers. The one thing that I didn't like was I stayed on the line for an hour and a half and then another hour after that but I never got to speak to anyone. But they had Lane Services out in a reasonable time. Then, two days later, the AC was still having issues with temperature. They came back out and they thought they had fixed it again. I'm not really happy with the American Home Shield about the AC units. They only pay like $10 on some of the coolant and the prices of the coolant have gone up a whole lot. They should adjust some of their prices on that too.

    AHS can also have more customer service when the customer calls in and ask for an agent to talk to. The problem was I didn't have anything. When I would call them, it was all automated and it went to a service thing that I have to hold. I couldn't say that I'm still having trouble and when I tried to do that, they would switch me back over to the main menu. It was frustrating. They kept saying they would place my request for what I need. I didn't need anything but for someone else to go back out and check it and I couldn't get anywhere that way.

    American Home Shield is great because if anything is broken in your house, they will efficiently have someone come out to make sure, take action on the problem, and get it resolved. My air was not getting cold and I called and said my AC needed service. They got someone out in the same week and the guy told me to call AHS and that I needed a whole new compressor. I contacted AHS and paid my fee. Extreme Heating and Air came out and they were awesome. The guy that was here went to the side of my house and checked the unit. He said the compressor was not broken and he could find out with wires. My brother was out there with him and my brother said he just did something in the back and the AC turned on. Everything is resolved and I am so thankful for Extreme and this person who was being honest.

    I submitted a claim for a replacement of a faucet for the kitchen. Also, I wanted someone to look at a clog in the basement and a leak on the ceiling of the basement from the tub. It was easy to submit the service call to American Home Shield and they said somebody would contact me within 24 hours. But I needed the faucet replaced as soon as possible. It hadn't been 24 hours and I called TMD Plumbing the next morning. I left a voice message and the rep called me right back. She gave me a time frame and the date and the guy came out. He looked at everything and told me right off the bat.

    He was able to replace the faucet and the clog ended up being the septic or the sump pump, so I had to replace that. He couldn't do it at the time, so he gave me a quote on that. And the leak that I thought was under the tub that ended up going to the ceiling was too much water splashed outside and he gave me ideas on how to resolve it.

    Sometimes, it's a little hard to get the right type of contractor. I had a problem with trying to do it just using the online menu. Usually, I had to speak to someone to make sure I got it correctly, what I needed done, what the problem was. Then generally, it's going to cost $100 to get someone to come out and address whatever the issue happens to be. I got someone I could call directly, and it's been pretty good about assigning someone. But I had a little bit of a problem last summer when my refrigerator went out. It took a while and a couple of different contractors before I could get someone to come out right away. Then, of course, they needed a part, and I had to wait another week. Imagine going a couple of weeks without a refrigerator. It eventually got fixed, so that was the good side of it.

    Recently, my pool heater was not working. The first contractor that was picked couldn't come for two or three weeks, so I asked for a different one. AHS picked another one out. They sent a tech and he saw that a piece of equipment needed to be replaced. I waited another week, they had to get the piece of equipment, and they sent out a tech and fixed it. In fact, he had to look for another part for the display portion, and he found it and came back and fixed it with no problem. Overall, I've got the right kind of coverage and I've been happy.

    When I call AHS, the techs come out in a timely manner. The people, so far, that they've sent, have been very good, especially the last plumber. The tech was very knowledgeable and extremely nice. We had a toilet issue that was backed up a few months back and everything turned out fine. I would definitely tell others to hire AHS if they're looking for somebody like that.

    I had an AC issue and the tech that AHS sent out was great. But it's still not fixed and he couldn’t figure it out. The unit kicks on, then it shuts off, and then it kicks on again. Aside from that, I just noticed today that my monthly payment went up $18 a month and I don't know why. It went from 50.99 to 68 something. I was going to call them about it and it was hard to find how to contact them on their website. Within the last two hours, I was on their website for that.

    The first time Summit Electric came out, I listed four or five issues and they took care of them all. The most recent one was a doorbell. AHS sent Summit again and they corrected that as well. When I had a plumbing issue, I utilized the electronic way to do the claim. There were three issues and when the plumbing company came out, the only issue they could correct that day would be what AHS told them to, which was the faucet. There were other issues that I didn't tell the computer it needed correcting. So, my preference to line these maintenance things was to speak to a person.

    It's good to have American Home Shield and the cost is not that expensive. They usually come out whenever they say they will. One time, the fan on our AC was running, but it wasn't cooling. The tech told us what he was doing and what he was checking. He was polite, and he couldn't find leaks in our AC, so he just put Freon in it. It was good.

    When I submitted a claim with AHS, they had some glitch with their system. It became a little bit harder. So, it took me calling. Then there was still a miscommunication.     When I was with 2-10 Home Warranty, they would get in contact with a contractor and set up the appointment. With American Home Shield, they give the name of the contractor and I have to call and set up the appointment. In the beginning, the AHS reps ask what time I want to schedule for the contractor to come. I have to go through that whole process again after I've contacted the contractor myself.

    The tech for my stove claim recognized the problem right away and fixed it. He demonstrated that the stove was working before he left and asked me if I had any questions. If you don't have an emergency fund, a home warranty can be beneficial. But, if you don't use it, you just kicked out $700 for peace of mind. I've found handymen and technicians and what they would charge me would not come up to the full amount of the home warranty. So, it would be cheaper to just do that. I give AHS $700 and I have to pay $100 for them to come out. I could do better going out on my own.

    Norcal Repair Services did a great job on the microwave. There was a bad heating element that was from the manufacturer that wasn't their fault. So, they’re coming back. They were amazing. Even though it was time-consuming, they were like, “Okay, we got to do this.” My washing machine was grinding while they were here. The tech said, “You need to call in before that thing goes out.” Also, I opened the refrigerator just before they got here. My milk fell out. My shelves fell out. It broke. He was like, “You need to call and put those both in one.” They were very helpful. I would definitely recommend them to my friends because my oven wasn't working, and they came out and fixed that.

    As far as American Home Shield, I would be keeping them when my year comes up. It’s something I feel that is very beneficial to the homeowner because things can get pricey. The service techs that they sent out were competent, professional and did a good job. I'm going to ask them to have Norcal come back and be the people to fix my washing machine and my refrigerator. Both Jamie and Chris at Norcal, and everybody who I spoke with on AHS did a good job.

    I had an issue with my icemaker in my refrigerator, so it needed to be repaired. I submitted a claim on American Home Shield's website and it was pretty straightforward. But I was surprised that they didn't have an app. Then, the tech who came out ordered some parts, came back a few days later, and replaced the parts. The communication was spot-on, too. AHS sent me text messages and emails every step of the way like when they found the provider and when he was coming out. And then they contacted me directly. All in all, the warranty is a perfect security blanket, especially if you're inexperienced as to doing small repairs and things yourself. It's convenient as well.

    When I called and made the appointment, I told American Home Shield I wanted to do a maintenance check. I don't like calling it in because it was a recorded message thing that I kept going through. Also, I was thinking about looking into changing because it seems that other people that AHS had come out were very inadequate. And when they get back to you, they just don't care. I don't like the people AHS uses. Other than that, I was very satisfied with the AC tech when he came out. He was very nice.

    Initially, one of my air conditioner upstairs wasn't working. Airmax found that a board had failed. When they put the new board in, they found that the blower had failed as well. Fortunately, they had a blower motor on the truck. They didn't have to order it like they ordered the board. They were able to fix both items on the same trip. Airmax is my AC service provider and I like them. I've been in my house for 21 years and I've had Airmax for more than 10 of those years. They come out twice a year to check my heater and my air conditioner. Then when something goes wrong with my systems, I request them because of the relationship I have with them and they're really good. I also like American Home Shield. They are really good too.

    The whole thing with the AC claim was great from beginning to end. The contractor came out on time. They fixed everything. It was covered under the warranty and the AC is working great now. American Home Shield is user-friendly. It was really easy to submit the claim. I went on to My Account, hit the request service button, put AC, and then two hours later, some guy called me. It was pretty fast.

    I made another claim because we had a plumbing issue and it kind of fell apart. It was a while before I was contacted. But that wasn’t American Home Shield’s fault. They said the contractor was gonna call me, but the contractor took two days, and then once they came out, you could tell they were tired. It was the end of the day. They said they made a phone call. They also told me two minutes later that whatever needed to be done wasn't covered under the warranty, and then they were trying to bill me $500.

    The contractor said they spoke with American Home Shield, and that American Home Shield told them that I would have to pay out of pocket for the cleaning. So if that is true, American Home Shield didn't back the warranty that they were supposed to. I'm pretty sure draining those main lines is part of the plumbing contract for the warranty, but I don't know if they actually spoke with American Home Shield to see if it was covered. I think they were just trying to get more money. So I haven’t been able to get to fix things up. I’ve been trying to call different plumbers because I didn't want to pay that amount. But it's hard finding a plumber right now. We can’t use any of the showers in the house now.

    The tech from Nunez Heating/Air Plus More came on time and knew exactly what the problem was. He showed the problem to me and took pictures of it. It took about a week for the part to come in and then, he came in and within 10 minutes, he fixed the problem. He turned on the oven to make sure it worked and the burner turned red. I've been with AHS for a long time. I got my girlfriend to sign up with them and she just left because they're getting harder and harder to contact. My contract is almost up and if it wasn't for this good interaction I had this time with them, I was thinking about changing too. The price keeps on going up and the customer service is getting harder to contact.

    Also, the air conditioner went last year and people told me I need a new heater. The heater in the air conditioner was old but it was working so I didn't expect them to change it but they told me I had to change it. It was their choice and then they charged me the cost of the heater because they said it wasn't covered. It cost me $3,000 for a heater and the air conditioner when I just needed the air conditioner because the old heater was working. I knew the heater needed to be replaced soon, so I didn't mind changing it, but that wasn't my choice. That was their choice telling me that it had to be changed at that time and that it wasn't gonna be covered.

    The website for requesting service was pretty cool. I put in what I need and then someone contacted me 12 hours later and got an appointment scheduled. Realty Rekey's guy was super nice and friendly. We have a new puppy here and he was willing to play with her. This is the first time we've ever had a warranty service but everything was as I was told. I hope I don't have to use it again but if I did, it wouldn't be the end of the world because I know it would be pretty easy to get everything figured out.

    The oven couldn't be used to clean it because there was something wrong with the control panel. They called on the phone and had me walk through the problem with a technician on the phone so they get to determine what the part was. They ordered the part and it was mailed to me. When it came in, I called them and they came out and fixed it.

    We smelled gas. So, we called the gas company. They came out, put paper on our stove and were like, “You can't use your stove.” The appliance company came out and he was a lovely gentleman. He was super sweet. He checked some things. He had his little meter out. And he was like, “There's nothing wrong so there's nothing for me to fix. It could be your furnace.” Because we just moved into the home. So, it was the first time we were using a lot of these things. The appliance gentleman explained it to me. He said, “Because the house was sitting for a couple of weeks, there can be air pockets. And then, when you turn it on, you get this whole burst of it.” He said, “I'm gonna go ahead and switch this over to HVAC so you don't have to pay again. Because literally, I didn't do anything. There's nothing wrong. When I get home later today, I will send in the paperwork.”

    American Home Shield has been super sweet too. I've called them a couple of times. They said, “We can't switch it until we get his notes. And we don't have it.” I tried to call the appliances. They've called twice. And at one point, the lovely woman said, “Well, I can just go ahead and reimburse you.” And I was like, “Well, I can wait for him to get in contact with you. I'm not worried about it.” But now I realize I should have just had her do that.

    There was something wrong in the bathroom and the drainage in the tub. The tech who came out did a very good job. He showed me the stuff and how to do it. He didn't have to do that but he did. He also explained things well and was very professional. He was very patient, too. In the end, I didn't have any more drainage issues in the sink and in the tub. Everything was fixed in a timely manner. I also always tell my neighbors about American Home Shield, even my friends and family, because I have good deals with American Home Shield and the cost every year is not a lot. But it went up $7 since I got it and I'm wishing that it doesn't go up like that.

    The air conditioner wasn't cooling down the house. The tech was a very nice guy and he diagnosed it in two seconds. He had it fixed in 15 minutes. He said that because I had AHS's warranty, they jump on my claim right away.     The installer was on time. They did really well in answering questions, installing and with cleanliness. The only hiccup that we had was when they were supposed to fix the toilet. We had a bidet attached, so they had to get the claims process approved by AHS before they could come back and do it. That part could have been improved because when AHS got the order from them, they sent me a voicemail, and I called them back. They said that they were gonna send G & G plumbing another work order, but I guess they never got it, so I was the one that had to call and reschedule everything. The first claim was easy. It was just when they had to get that second work approved, it seemed like there was kind of a disconnect between who was supposed to be calling who or sending another work order. So, that could have been more streamlined. Still, it's overall a simple process, instead of going out and researching plumbers and stuff on my own.

    It’s very easy to submit a claim with AHS because I just go online and my account is already saved in there. The only thing is, sometimes, I don't know if I need to contact them or they will contact me. And if they’re supposed to contact me, sometimes it takes a little while.     We just bought our house, and all the appliances are brand new (the washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher, and fridge). That's wonderful. However, the AC, the furnace, and the water heater are almost 30 years old. We knew that we would be running into issues with them with purchasing the home, and being first time homebuyers, we requested the home warranty thinking that that it would be super beneficial. If something were to happen, our system would be replaced because it's so old. So, we first moved in and had the unit serviced like they suggested, via email. I paid $75 to have it cleaned and checked, so they did that. Allied Air was great. The tech came out and did what he was supposed to do. The AC was pumping cold air and working great again.

    I'm in Illinois and it got cold again outside, so then we needed to kick our heat on. We had an issue with it, so we had to request service for our heat. That was 75 the first time, and 100 the second time. They came out, cleaned the heating coils, and got the heat up and running. Awesome. That's working now, then it got hot outside again and we were using the air. On Memorial Day, a holiday, it was 95 degrees here in Illinois, and the AC went out. I put in a service request with American Home Shield and paid the 100 bucks. The guy came out, thought it was just this one little part, and replaced it. "Oh, look, it's not just that little part. It's the whole compressor." Everyone that I've talked to said if the compressor goes out, they just replace it, instead of paying for a new one.

    I get it's our first year with this home warranty company (that's probably why it's not being replaced), but I'm frustrated with this AC situation. I was sure they were going to replace it if they looked at how many times their people have come and serviced it and how long we've been with them. I'm sure at the end of the day, the company as a whole needs to make money. That's what all businesses are about and that was why I was thinking they were replacing it, but they're not. Now we are on day number nine of no air conditioner. I have five kids between me and my boyfriend. When they finally let me know they aren't replacing it, but they are authorizing to order the parts, I'm like, "Okay. Fine."

    Not only is the home warranty company not gonna pay for the parts, but we're gonna pay for the refrigerant on this 30-year old system as well. I'm not the one that paid for the warranty, so I didn't read the whole contract, but then I found out we have to pay $595 out of pocket for the refrigerant for them to fix the thing, not even replace it. I talked to a couple different people that know HVAC besides the guy that we were paying to fix it. 'Cause I figured I should get a second opinion. They're like, "The same thing's gonna happen every single summer. So you're going to go through this every year. It's 30 years old. Every single year, you're gonna have to call in a thing with American Home Shield, and they're going to do the same thing to you."

    My boyfriend's parents also have this home warranty company and they still go through them. They're not saying, "Don't continue to go through them," but they have the same issue. American Home Shield has replaced their compressor 15 times. It was so much money being poured into it, and it doesn't make sense. Finally, they ended up replacing their own AC unit because it still was never replaced.

    The people I talked to told us, "You might as well just bite the bullet. If they're not willing to do it for you, then just buy one." If something goes wrong, it'll be under warranty with who I buy it with and I'll still have American Home Shield for backup. Overall, American Home Shield is doing what it's supposed to do, but it really sucks that the AC is 30 years old. It's from 1990, and it's now 2021. Everyone's like, "There's no reason to repair it. It's 30 years old." They told me 10 to 20 is a good life of a AC unit.

    I love American Home Shield. They are awesome and I refer them to a lot of people. On my most recent claim, a plumber came out and redid my back behind my refrigerator that had leaked. I also had my sand filter replaced and we had awesome people that came out for that. American Home Shield contracts out to people who have all been good. I can't expect anything different especially with covid. They're out and done within two days.

    My hot water heater in my barn had busted on the bottom. A plumber came out and the home warranty was going to cover the unit but not the plumber. That was $400 or $500. I didn't have that money at the time so I had to wait on that. When I got the money, I ended up buying it outright and paying it. Then I submitted that to get my hot water heater. Normally, it's something I can't afford and luckily I have American Home Shield. It definitely helps me. I get my stuff done and I've never had any complications of them not covering a claim.

    When I put in a claim through American Home Shield, oftentimes, they will tell me when the vendor is going to come and then they don't show up. I have to keep calling. I work for a living, so if they tell me they're going to be at my house in between so and so time, I'm going to make it a point to be there even if I have to take off my job. There should be a courtesy call if they're not gonna make it. Time is so precious and valuable. I am one not to waste time and it really bothers me that somebody wasted my time.

    I also had one problem and I was getting ready to cancel my account with Home Shield because I wasn't satisfied. I called way back in February and put in a claim to have three ceiling fans in two different rooms repaired. When the guy got there, he fixed the two in the master bedroom, but he said he didn't have a ladder for the fan in the den. It's an extremely tall ceiling and he said would be back the following week, but he never showed up. It got to be four weeks. I called four times, and I never got an answer from the repairman.

    I called Home Shield back and told them what was going on. They said to let them call him, and they did, but he never came out. As of yet, we still have not gotten the fan fixed, and I've called Home Shield five times. I had to threaten to cancel my account to get something done. They assigned it to somebody else, which is what I was asking for all the time. The new repairman is supposed to be out at 4 o'clock today to fix my fans.

But on a previous call, the contractor did not do anything and charged me for it. I had to call to get another person to come out. That was difficult because AHS was using a call center in the Philippines and it was difficult for the rep and I to understand each other. Other than that, AHS is fine.     When I first became a customer, I had difficulty submitting a claim. People wouldn't get back to me. Now it the process seems to be a little more efficient. Recently, there was a stoppage in the shower. After I submitted the claim the contractor called within the next day and scheduled me an appointment right away. They were able to fix the issue. Just read through your policy and the fine print because sometimes, the reps say something is not covered but based on the wording, it should be.

    My AC was running in and out. I went to AHS's website, submitted a claim and the techs came out the next day. The problem was fixed. They discovered that the pan underneath the AC was getting full of water. Having AHS is a lot cheaper than having to pay the normal price. For service like what I got, the contractor would probably charge $200 but I only had to pay a hundred.

    I called AHS on May 26 because I had this clicking sound in my water heater. It was clicking on and off constantly. It had this red light that would turn on and off too. I was concerned. American Home Shield sent Geo's Plumbing out. Geo's came out the same day as another company, Fast Tech. Fast Tech did the pipe, which was not connected to the water heater. Geo's did the water heater. Their guy called the manufacturer of the water heater and he said the electrical control board, which is attached to your water heater, needed to be replaced... He couldn't do it. What I needed to do was buy the electrical control board then contact AHS and tell them to send an electrician to install it. He then sent me the spec for the electrical control board.

    I was going to buy it but I thought it might mess up my contract with AHS. I called AHS and told them what the Geo's guy said I needed to do. For a while, no one knew if the issue has been resolved. I told them it wasn't. I called AHS back and was told that they were gonna send Geo's an email to send them a report. They would then send the report to their adjustment bureau or whoever looks at these types of claims. I was told that that had happened and it was based on the automated system and that it was undergoing a review.

    I called yesterday to ask what was going on. I got an automatic message to call Geo's. I did and I asked if they had done what they needed to do. Their guy said that there seemed to be a confusion. They did what they needed to do and told AHS that I needed to buy the electrical board and that an electrician was needed. But I didn't think that I needed to buy the electrical board because when I spoke to a representative a week ago, I was told that AHS would have to do it. Geo's told me to call AHS back.

    I called and spoke to a woman yesterday. She said that I could give them another $100 and they would send out an electrician to look at the problem. I said, “Why would I do that? Because you already sent a contractor who diagnosed the problem. I didn't tell you to send a plumber versus an electrician. I don't know what the water heater needs. But the person came out, he diagnosed the problem and said, ‘This is what is required.’ So are you guys gonna order the board and send out the person and install it?” She said no. What they could do is refund $50 but there would a new service charge to send out an electrician to diagnose the problem.

    I have spoken to at least three people live about this situation. The frustration is I don't know if they understood me. It just seems like this issue is not resolved. We've been doing this for so long and it seems like whatever that panel is, it’s problematic because we have very little hot water left now. If you take a shower first thing in the morning, you get hot water. If not, so sad, too bad.

    This has been a hellish experience of a claim. I understand that it might have been some language challenges we were dealing with. The folks who are answering the phone do not have English as their first language and I’m a little hard of hearing. But the frustration was to keep calling back and told different information. They would say, “Yes, we’ll call you back.” they would also say, “No, we won't call you back unless there's an update.”

    What I expected to happen was AHS would have taken care of getting the electrical board and sent someone out to install it. Instead, they closed the ticket out. That was what happened initially. Someone said they would get back to me when there was an update. I called back again and the woman said it was closed out. I mentioned that it can't be closed out because I was told that there was an additional step that needed to happen.

    The woman said they would email Geo's to tell him they needed to bring in a status report of what needed to happen. But they couldn't do it because of July 4th. They would have to wait for him to get back from July 4th then they would get the new information from him. They can then forward it to adjustment. I asked if they could call me back and let me know what was going on. They said they would call me back when there was an update. I'm always calling and saying, “Okay, it seems to be easy. He says we need this electrical board. There's an electrician. He says he can't do it. How come three weeks later, we're still talking about the same thing?” I have had a very good experience with American Home Shield up until this point. All I want at this point is for AHS to tell me, “This is when we're going to have the electrical board in. And this is the date the person's going to come out and install it.”

    We were trying to turn our thermostat on and it wasn't sending anything to the unit. The unit wasn't coming on at all, only the fan on the inside was coming on.     It's simple submitting a claim with AHS. I can go on my cell phone and pull up their website and submit an order. Within a few minutes, I'm getting a phone call from them, and then, I get a phone call from the contractor that they're trying to do the job. This is the third time we used it, and each time, they've had some really good contractors come out.

    The first one and the most recent one was the Sunbelt Electric, and it was even the same guy. He's a good candidate. He's very knowledgeable, respectful and he does his work quickly and professionally. With our most recent claim, the ceiling fan motor went out. He checked it out and told me that the fan was burned out and then he already had a fan to replace it with. He installed the fan and it's been working great ever since. We're pretty happy with AHS so far. They've been really good for us.

    To submit a claim was easy. What wasn't easy was getting a person on the phone. It's a lot of navigating to get to a person. I had an issue in November and I don't know if it was the technicians that were doing the work or whom. My oven stopped working and I called it in on the 1st of November. Two different techs came out to the house to fix the situation but it did not get resolved until after the first of the year. It was very frustrating for me because I had Thanksgiving and Christmas without an oven. I could cook on top of the stove and I could somewhat use the oven, but I couldn't do any real baking in the oven because of the fact that the part took forever to get here. There was no real actual follow-up it needed to be until I started calling and seeing what was going on.

    My biggest thing is American Home Shield takes my money from my account without a problem but when it's a problem to get something fixed, it seems like they want your $100 upfront and there's no guarantee how long after that before my end of it is resolved. Before I can get service at my house, it's $100 fee then I gotta wait at least 24 hours before somebody calls me to tell me when they're coming or who's coming. It's a little unfair.

    Fred's Appliance fixed our KitchenAid electric stovetop range. They diagnosed the problem and a week later, they came back with the two parts and replaced and fixed the heating element and a knob. They were one of the better appliance technicians we've ever had come out. Not only was the rep prompt and courteous, but she was clean, quick, and professional.

    Also, I've run into issues where American Home Shield assigns a claim to a contractor and the contractor does not promptly get back, reach out, and schedule. But I did not have that problem with Fred's Appliance. They reached out properly and they texted and emailed. They did everything they could to notify me when it would be and how to arrange the schedule, when the parts were going to arrive, and when the technician was going to come back out. They had all of their communication proper.

    Mel came out for the AC issue recently. He was outstanding. He was very good about communicating. He had to come up twice, did plenty of troubleshooting up front, and he got to a point where he couldn't troubleshoot any further and we had to trust it. And he checked back with me to make sure it was working. It worked for two days, but on the third day when it failed again, I told him. And he said, "Yup. Call the AHS, they'll send me back out so I could deal." And he went ahead and made sure the part was in too, which was even better. So when he came back out, he had the part, didn't have to wait three weeks to order it like usually with AC components.

    Customer service is very adequate. The people I spoke with did everything I asked them to and needed them to, and all within their power. It was great. As far as outside the customer service experience, the one area of improvement was the AC checkup I had a month and a half ago. The tech checked my refrigerant levels. Mel verifed my refrigerant levels were perfect, so that made me very happy. But it would have been nice if that guy who came out a month and a half ago could do a small bit of investigating, if there is that option. It would have been nice for him to say, "Oh, by the way, your AC unit's probably gonna go out within a few months, just forewarning, here's what I noticed." Maybe he just passed it along to AHS and they keep track of it until it comes up.

    Other than that, every issue I've brought up has been dealt with timely, within reason of AHS' ability. The organizations they work with are obviously third parties, which are AHS' biggest delays. We've had a few calls. But that big new refrigerator with all the digital stuff, I've seen value in being able to call AHS as opposed to replacing a $7,000 fridge.

    I'm pleased with American Home Shield. The tech did a great job coming in and repairing things. But one of the burners now makes a loud buzzing sound when I turn it on so we're not using it. American Home Shield said they would contact the contractor but I've not got any updates on that. It's been a week or two since I put in that request and I talked to two different people about it too. Also, I've got another call in for our washer. When I go online and look at it, it simply says parts ordered. It would be great if I could get further information on such servicing but I don't know that that's even possible.

    It's been nice that I don't have to worry about trying to find a repair person. All I have to do is make one call or go on the website and American Home Shield takes care of everything. Also, there have been several appliances where they couldn't be repaired so they gladly replaced them without any question. Recently, Sears came out for the freezer and they were on time. The tech discovered that it was a defrost timer issue and he made a special trip to get a part. Then, he came back and fixed it.

    Some of the vendors through American Home Shield are not that reliable. I’m a nurse, and they got windows that go for eight hours a day, and I don’t have that kind of window. Discount Contractors is great. I work 16 hours a day and five days a week. I was running late. My son told me they would turn around and get the job done. The tech was able to come back. He didn’t have to because I was running late, but he totally sent someone out and got the job done. I was very pleased with that.

    The biggest thing that I have an issue with is American Home Shield does not disclose what they cover. I never know what it is that they cover until I get the denial. That is disappointing. My garage door failed, and I called them. I paid $100, but then they didn’t cover the door. I’d like it to be more transparent, so then I would know. I eventually just paid out of pocket. The company that they recommended charged me $3,000. Then the company that I found on my own charged me $1,700. It was almost half price.

    The hose from the washing machine that goes into the drain and then back out to the sewer was overflowing and water was flooding into the kitchen and into the back hole of the house. AHS was very helpful. They set me up with a plumber who was very professional. He did his best to clear the line. The work was satisfactory. The next day, it flooded again. I contacted the company and they sent the same person. We tried to replicate the problem but we weren't able to. The plumber was knowledgeable although he was frustrated that he couldn't figure out what was going on. He advised me to make a record of all the details every time I wash my clothes - how full the washing machine is, the hours in it, and what cycle I have it on. So, if the flooding happens again, I'll have information leading up to it. AHS was a conscientious service. They went out of their way to correct the issue quickly.

    The repair guy was very nice and professional. He told me to rinse my dishwasher once a month. I rinsed it this week, and I put a bit of bleach as well as vinegar to rinse it out. I ran it on the rinse cycle and it overflowed, so I called American Home Shield. The repair guy came to check on it and got the suds out of it. He was just here in April too. Every time I call to let American Home Shield know what's going on, they always get somebody to come out. Everything is always good, and I've always been satisfied.

    The last claim we had was a hassle but we got it all resolved. It really wasn't on American Home Shield but the person that we picked for the plumbing. The company was A-1 Rapid Rooter. We called them and they said they would call back for an appointment. We waited for the appointment for about four or five days. The issue with the toilets wasn't real big at the time so we didn't really push on it. We called them and they said someone would call me back. I had to follow up about four times until I got ahold of the individual that was coming out.

    There were some toilet issues in both bathrooms. It was the same instance and the same design of the toilet. Right at where it flushes, it was pretty much lost. That was why we're having so many issues. The tech said he fixed the problem but it wasn't the case. We called A-1 back out and the tech wasn't going to repair the toilets until we kept calling. They were very rude on the phone. It wasn't a pleasant experience with A-1.

    Other than that, all the other claims we had with American Home Shield were really flawless. We had the fridge issue and we had an AC issue, which was a big one. Techs came out and they swapped out a capacitor. The other plumber that American Home Shield has on file was great. We have recommended the home warranty to a couple of people and they have had nothing but good things to say. Reviews online say otherwise, but it's somewhat of 50-50 just depending on what the issue is. Since we've had American Home Shield, we have paid each month and it's been really great for us. I do my claims online. I submit what the issue is and put a description of what's going on. I already have my debit card already on file so it pulls the deductible from my account. I just wait on the phone call.

    We were out three weeks without refrigeration, waiting on parts, and I was very frustrated. Of course, we've lost our food. We waited for three weeks for The Appliance Guy to come in and take care of that. I've been trying to figure out maybe I should go somewhere else. Because I have had to come back. They got so many loops that you gotta jump through. I've had my refrigerator go out on me four times. And I thought that I would have been able to get a new refrigerator, but every time they come, it's a loophole, as far as they would have somebody come and repair it. This last time, it was the compressor. And it wasn't the exact same thing as the other issues the last time.

    I wasn't able to get a new refrigerator even though I've been with them for about three years since 2018, and I have been paying faithfully every month. So I know that I've put in enough money for them to be able to give me a new refrigerator. But when it's time for me to get the service that I need, yes, they do service you, but it's jumping through hoops to get the service. To get the service, they would send somebody. When I first called for someone to come out to my house, he never showed up. That is what is frustrating to me, the professionalism, with American Home Warranty.

    When I called and told them the guy never showed up, they sent this last guy, who was very kind and he was there. He was helpful. Thank God. He came in, put in a new compressor, which I appreciated. But I asked if I would be able to get a new one and he said probably not, but they can do the best that they could. They won't give you money to go out and get a new refrigerator. Because when you call for the refrigerator, it was for this issue. It's not the same thing every time. It's something within the refrigerator, but it's not the same issue. I know that there are guidelines. I respect that. It may not be the exact same thing every time, but the last time was the compressor and I'm out. I'm frustrated with them. But the last guy's customer service was very good. The guy that did the work was very respectful.

    I filed for the dishwasher and the garbage disposal at the same time because there was something happening between the dishwasher and the piping that was causing the dishwasher to overfill into the sink. The guy who fixed the garbage disposal did great and we ended up needing a new disposal. So, I'm happy that he was able to get that done but he didn't look into the other piping. He may not have understood that he needed to. I was on a conference call because I work remote, so I couldn't be in there with him and have full conversations, so that part didn't happen. Then, when the guy from a whole different company came for the dishwasher, he wouldn't look into the pipe so I'm still stuck with the same problem. American Home Shield was supposed to be sending someone else out but I haven't heard anything from them or from any of their contractors to come out and look into the plumbing or the dishwasher again.

    I am actually having a challenge accessing my account online, and it's been like that for several weeks now. When I called in to request someone else come back out, the gentleman I spoke with said he put in a ticket for IT to have that resolved. I still cannot log in, and I'm not receiving the email. When I go to do a password reset, I'm not receiving those emails to allow me to reset my password so it's been a little frustrating. Typically, whenever I do my claims online, everything goes smoothly. I usually don't have any issues. I don't know what the difference is, but calling them in is not getting it resolved.

    My AC was blowing warm air. The tech was really nice, knowledgeable, and quick. He knew what was wrong right away and he let me know. He switched it and things have been great since he came out. However, AHS needs to let the customer say what the problem is or have more options. The options aren't there. Also, when I wasn't able to speak with an actual human, it was annoying because their system was stuck on the same four options. None of them worked so I ended up hitting one of the wrong options just so I could speak with someone. Other than that, the work and the guy were excellent.

    Requesting for service was easy online. I got a call, and they went ahead and scheduled with me. I originally put in a claim for my icemaker. It was not working, and the repair man got it to work. It was great. He knew what he was doing, and he didn't take too long to figure out what happened. However, the water in the icemaker was very salty. When the ice started to come out, I threw them out and made some more. I did that a couple of times, and then it would still have that salty taste to it. Eventually, I called the repair company back, and I asked them to come and look at it. They didn’t come out, though. They just said that I needed to get an inline filter for the water. I just bought this condo, so I wasn't sure what I needed as far as the ice and the water.     AHS provides air conditioning servicing and free summer checks in Arizona, which is always a good thing. They came out and we especially paid $75 for the service, which was well worth it. I have two units, one upstairs and one downstairs. They went through and checked them, made sure all the coils were clean, checked the coolant levels that were inside, and did all the work they needed to do. They would have provided service if we needed to, but nothing needed to be serviced. Then shortly after that, our washing machine went out . The techs were there the next day to make a repair on it and w were back in business on the same day.

    We've had AHS for about eight years now and they've always done really well. The only time it takes them a little longer is when they're unable to repair the appliance. That happened on a dryer we had and it took them about five days to get the authorization and a new one delivered. But I don't think that that should take that long, they just had to go through their steps try to get it fixed and they couldn't get it fixed, so they condemned it. The repair guys told that to them, then a couple of days later, we had a new dryer delivered. It was a little bit inconvenient, but they did their job. All in all, I got nothing but good words for American Home Shield.

    When we sold our house in Texas, we also provided the buyers one year service with AHS at the house. We had several things go out in that house, too. Our washer, dryer, and dishwasher there went out. So it wasn't only a two-year old house that was spooky about it. Our heat pump had a problem as well and AHS fixed that. We're going to sell this house in a couple more months and we're also going to leave the new owners with one year with AHS.

    I did a claim regarding our oven. It was the stovetop of the oven and I had two burners that would not turn off. They would go to the highest setting I've ever experienced cooking. You could put full tea kettle on there and it'd be ready in three minutes. It was smoking and burning my pans. Also, we had a light that was on which wouldn't turn off. When the stove was off, it was supposed to turn off the light. American Home Shield took about two days to assign the appliance company. The appliance company called, let me know when they would be out and gave a call the same morning to let me know about what time it would be.

    It wasn't resolved the first time and we had to have them come out again. The tech changed everything and I thought it was fine but the left burner was still too hot. It would stay at high even when it was on low. I called the appliance company directly on that one after I submitted the claim to American Home Shield that it wasn't resolved. I talked to them and they were immediately on it. They said that it was probably either a bad element or a bad switch, but that they would replace both of them. They were going to do it that week but the part arrived and it was damaged. So, they reordered it and came out the next week. Ever since, it functions the way it should and I have both burners back to cook on, which is nice, and I'm not burning everything I try to cook.

    The woman that was on the phone was wonderful. Chris was the name of the tech that came out and he was perfect. I have a seven-year old daughter who's very talkative and she talked to him while he was working and he was fine with it. We had never heard of that appliance company before but we were extremely happy with them and we're happy that American Home Shield assigned them. American Home Shield is always efficient. They take care of the problem. It's quick, easy, and they make sure it's right. I highly recommend them.

    Ryco Electric came out to check the lights that were flickering in my bedroom, laundry room, and kitchen. The service was really good and the electrician went above and beyond. He switched out the whole light fixture in my room and he even rewired the closet light as well.     I had an AC issue and Budget HVAC took a little bit longer to come out. But in the end, no parts were needed. It was just user training on my part. The only snafu in the incident was that we couldn't test having the AC on because the house was already cold, so maybe reschedule if the day's cold. But I doubt any AC company does that. It's nothing indicative of them. Overall, it’s worthwhile having this warranty because of the ease and that I don't have to find someone. They send someone out and they're typically good.

    When I called American Home Shield, I asked for two different items to be looked at. When the plumber arrived, he said that only one item was put on the ticket. I clearly said that I wanted him to look at the sink and then the garbage disposal. Then I kept asking questions about toilets because I wasn't sure what they cover. We wanted to get a copy of information that tells us what exactly is covered. When I kept asking questions about the toilet, the rep said, “Well, let me go ahead and put it on this ticket.” I said, “Oh, are you able to do that?” He said, “Yes, it’s for the same service, plumbing. So I can put on the same ticket, you only have to pay the one deductible.” I got off the phone and gave him a great review. When the plumber got here, he said I only have the garbage disposal on my ticket. There was no miscommunication. I clearly asked about both items.

    The plumber said, “Oh, well, I'll take a look at it.” Then he said, “Well, it’s not going to be covered under the homeowner’s insurance.” They gave us a quote on how much it would charge. I didn't get anything from the homeowner’s warranty to say why they couldn't cover the toilet. We've been here less than a year, and everything here has just been what we inherited when we purchased the house. So, I never got any clear explanation as to why that totally couldn't be fixed. Another thing with AHS is, sometimes it's difficult to speak to a person to get your questions answered. You have questions about what's going on, and it's difficult to talk a person.

    The AC was working fine, but it started leaking. Apparently, the drain pan cracked and it started leaking through the ceiling. So, the techs came out, assessed the situation, and told me what was wrong. Then they sent a request to AHS and they took three weeks to approve it. But once it was approved, the techs came in quickly, changed the drain pan, and that problem was resolved. After that, they told me that I could turn on the AC and it should be working fine. But when I turned it on, it wasn't really working. So, I gave it a day and when it was still not working, I called the techs back and told them about it. We made another appointment through AHS, then they came out and they fixed it. They were very professional.

    I had a previous house where I also had AHS and every time I would call AHS for an AC problem, they'd set up somebody who would come out and the work would be done super quickly. It didn't take time for them to complete the service and they were big jobs, too. But for whatever reason, this time around, the service took so long. It was extremely aggravating because there were days that the house was at 90 degrees. And I would call AHS every other day to ask and still, it took three weeks to get resolved. I even considered that once the contract is up, I'm going to move on to another company, but I'd hate to do that because AHS has been so reliable before. There was also somebody else in my community with the exact same experience where they called AHS when something went wrong with their AC and it took forever.

    The garbage disposal wasn't working. When I turn it on, it wouldn't start. I was given a contractor and I did have a problem because they work on business hours and I work on business hours too. I had to wait two or three weeks before they could kind of match on the scheduling part. When they finally came here, they had to replace it. It was done Sunday and they had to wait extra time for them to get another one and bring it. The guy had it on his van and he replaced it right away.

    The only problem is that the working hours that the contractors that I've been working with use are not the greatest. I had another claim for the burners that were not working. They called me to do a review with a video and that one was fine. But they ordered a part and it took two weeks to get here. That was lengthy too though I understand because of covid that there are more delays on everything.

    When I call American Home Shield, I couldn’t really understand the reps. It was like they were talking from a book. I asked one rep if I could talk to somebody in the United States and she said she doesn't have the capability of transferring me. I don't like that. Also, the last time I called, I had to call three times. The first person put me with somebody and I asked if he was sure the contractor services my area. He said they do. Normally, as soon as I make a claim, I'll call the company myself to see if I could get a sooner appointment. When I called, the rep said they had stopped servicing my area a long time ago.

    I had to call AHS back so they can change it and put another person on there. They got me another contractor but didn't put in that I have two air condition systems. I had to call them back so they can put the second condition on to be serviced. I'm not too keen on AHS's customer service. But once they get someone out here, the service is pretty good because of the pricing.

    I had an electric issue and I submitted a claim online with AHS. I have used them before and the contractors have always come out right away. The guy they sent out for my recent claim was awesome. It turned out that I have a GFCI and I didn't that I had one on the plug. Anybody else would have made me feel like a dummy but he told me that somewhere I had a reset on those plugs. Then he proceeded to look for it and when he found it, he brought me out and showed me. It was hidden behind one of my shelves and in that situation, most people would say, "That's a woman for you." But he didn't. He explained to me that sometimes they put it in weird places and you just don't see it.

    It was a good peace of mind having the coverage from American Home Shield. I just moved in and three days later, my air conditioning went out. The claim was handled pretty quickly. There were absolutely no difficulties in filing the claim. I just selected the problem I had, added a comment on what issue I was having and from there, it got pushed out to a vendor in my area. It was at least two to three days before they were dispatched because in the area, it had gotten really hot so with it being air conditioning, they were backed up.

    We've had great service with American Home Shield and a fast turnaround. We've been very pleased. I had a claim on a microwave, and they took care of that very well. Recently, I submitted a claim for our air conditioner. That was my first time to do it online and it was great. I did it in the evening and then, the next day, I got a call saying that somebody would be in contact with me and the name of the company. The repair man called that afternoon. It was awesome.     My air wasn't working. In the unit out back, something wasn't spinning. It was leaking out some fluid that was needed for it to run. Climate Masters wound up repairing something there. The tech said he fixed the crack in the pipe and put Freon in it. He was friendly and professional, and he explained to me what was going on with it and my options. This claim with American Home Shield went really smooth. They constantly sent me updates like what was going on and when to expect the call from who. It was a good experience.

    Everything went well with my claim with AHS. I didn't know where the water was coming from, so I had turned off all the water to the house. The tech went upstairs, and he looked in the kitchen. He said the water was coming from the valve over the kitchen, underneath the kitchen sink and it leaked downstairs. The tech was so good. He did what he was supposed to do. He said he changed the valve and it's not leaking now. It happened quickly too.

    I had an issue with my refrigerator and dishwasher. The contractor ordered parts and I got a call this morning saying that the parts had arrived and they've scheduled an appointment to come on Monday. I also had a claim for the garage door and the tech handled it for me. The device that latches and moves the garage door up became disconnected. He started the garage door, then he stopped it as soon as it got like at midpoint, and then he started it back up, which made it go back up, and click on to that device and move it back in the correct position. He was great. He fixed it and it's working. When the garage door was not working, my car was in the garage not moving. When I got it fixed, I was able to leave my house. It was a very positive experience. I had a need and it was met and life goes on. I'm able to function.

    We've had five properties with American Home Shield and we have never had a problem with them. The only thing is if they could improve their customer service people so I can get on before 20 minutes. I know they're trying to get people to go online, but a lot of us don't like to do that.     I'm not happy with AHS today because I haven't been able to get something done. They advertised a spring tune-up for only $75 and a short turnaround time. I've made three phone calls and I never got anybody to get my spring tune-up done. I'm pretty sure the sale is over. They gotta get better at answering their phones.     American Home Shield did fast in getting somebody out to the house, and it was easy to use the website to schedule for service. I had a toilet that wasn't flushing in my master bathroom, and then I had a broken knob and a low water pressure in one of the bathrooms upstairs. Two guys came and they were pretty good and fast. The only thing is that my water pressure is still low upstairs, but the guy was able to fix the knob. He actually did something else that I asked him to do that wasn't on the ticket as well. They were professional, fast and on time. I'd recommend AHS because they have a good reputation. They do a pretty good job.

    When I called in my second request, the person didn't forward it to the contractor. But, I called back and AHS got that corrected. Things were okay when the contractor came to service my air conditioner but they had to come back. The first time, the technician reset the thermostat. The second time, he replaced it and then my unit quit again. Some different people are back today and they're having to replace my unit. AHS is covering $800 and I have to pay the rest. Overall, I'm pleased with them.

    When I tried to use more than one burner at a time, they won't all heat up. The tech was able to explain to us why it was happening. With that particular brand of stove, it's electric, it has sensors on the coil, so all the parts in the bottom have to be completely flat so it can connect with the sensors. He was good and very helpful. The problem I had with Home Shield is when I tried to renew my warranty. I was going month to month and they set me up for six months then billed me for late fees. I had to straighten that out a couple of times. I had difficulty reaching a live agent. I kept getting customer service and that was a disaster because some of the people, English wasn't their first language, so we had communication barriers. Then they took payments directly out of my account which they weren't supposed to do. I almost dropped them.

    We finished our second year with American Home Shield. I was about to call them tomorrow to renew my policy. We had a claim on our AC because it wasn't cooling. The tech said we had some leaks in the system, and he put some leak repair stuff in there and a lot of Freon. So that worked fine. He was great, friendly, efficient and knew his stuff. The first time, they sent out somebody who didn't know what they were doing. Second time, they fixed it fine. This time, it was great. So, my experience has been great other than the first referral that I got on the first issue I had when I first bought it. As far as American Home Shield, the information that I get in the mail is sometimes hard to distinguish from other things. I would appreciate anything they can do to call themselves to our attention with their name and logo. And I lose their messages sometimes in the stream of mail I get.

    The unit had water standing in a pan and I submitted the first time by phone. Harry was very responsive and quickly sent me a text. Also, American Home Shield sent me information on when he's gonna show up. He came and flushed it the first time and then still didn't work. He came back again and fixed it. Also, he found that it needed to add Freon and that's what he did. Everything was done correctly. So it was a pretty good experience overall.

    The only thing is that when I did the second time, I tried it over the internet and it got to the point that they asked if this was a recurring event and I said yes. Usually, you don't have to pay if it’s the same issue. However, I got the credit card information to pay. I had to call them to make sure I don't pay another $75. I wish on their website when it says it's recurring, they should not come up with the payment information. But it's always good to have that peace of mind of having this warranty when buying a used home so you don't have to worry about any unforeseen event.

    I had a problem with my AC about a couple of months ago. I was not happy with the first contractor that came out. I told their tech that my AC stays on all the time. It still does. He did nothing and didn’t fix the issue. I was not charged for this but it was a big waste of time. I don’t ever want those people back in my house. The second contractor was fine. I turned on my AC with my phone. I got home and I looked at the thermostat. It said, “No power.” I did everything I could do to fix it. I put a new plug and fuses in. That didn't work. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out and he fixed the problem instantly. The issue with the first contractor aside, American Home Shield's contractors are usually pretty good. When I first moved in, the home warranty replaced my entire AC unit upstairs, which would have cost thousands and thousands of dollars. It only cost me 300 so that was good.

    I’m having problems with my microwave installed. Somebody called me one time and told me they would call me when they would come out and install it. But they haven’t done it. A different person has to install it. But American Home Shield as a whole, I love it. They are prompt, professional, and efficient. My air conditioner and oven have been fixed. The air conditioner, twice. They had to do one part. The air conditioner fixed twice and then the oven. The hot water heater also went out and they got it repaired. It’s worth the money having this particular service. If you have to pay that out of pocket and you don’t have American Home Shield, it’s very expensive, versus you just having to pay the deductible. I recommend it to everybody.

    The Northwind AC company sent by American Home Shield was on time. They communicated with us well when it came to finding where we were. AHS is a lot better than Sears' warranty. We've had issues where the tech would not show up or claim that they did but they'd go to the property next door. It was a mess. With AHS, we had to pay the freon cost though which we never had to do before. I heard from someone else to go online because there was a better package where AHS pays for the Freon. But when I went to look for it, it wasn't available. When I called customer service, they said we weren't eligible for that package. They said next year, we would be eligible to upgrade the package we have. That's the only thing I don't understand.

    The AC was running fine but it was taking three hours to cool. So, we submitted the claim and the contractor was out. They called me to schedule it quickly, and then came in, realized it was Freon, filled the AC up, and that was it. American Home Shield has been running very well for us. Contractors have come out once for the microwave, twice for the washer, three times for the refrigerator, and each time, they've been able to repair it. The people that I've talked to think that it should be replaced. That's the problem when people have a negative connotation because they think things should be replaced versus repaired. I said, “Hello. Of course, they're not gonna replace everything immediately.” But not a lot of people get that. This is the discussion in our HOA's Facebook group. Everyone said, “Don't get any warranty.” But I said, “We've had it for two and a half, three years, and it has been wonderful for us. Saved us thousands of dollars, probably.”

    Cooper Appliances was punctual and was repairing everything first shot. They are a respectable company in the community. The experience couldn't have gotten better. I had a bad experience with a company awhile back because the reviews were terrible and they didn't answer the phone. Then American Home Shield called somebody else again and that happened to be Cooper Appliances. They were spot-on. American Home Shield is worth doing.     The bearings in the washer make a lot of noise when it spins. The person I talked to was a little short of patience because she had me download this link and go to my washer so she could hear what was going on. She didn't stay on long enough to really hear the problem. But I understand. It was taking more time than she realized. AHS sent J&A Appliance out to check and tell me what’s wrong with it. The repairman knew his job, what he was doing, and what he was talking about. He recognized the problem right away but he couldn’t repair it, so they’re replacing the washer. The only thing is it's a different brand and a different color but I can't really complain because my washer is 13 years old. They’re supposed to deliver the new washer on Friday.

    We love American Home Shield. We've had them for going on 18 years and they're great to work with. They are very reasonable. Our central heat and air unit had to be replaced and they did. If you wanna upgrade, you just pay the difference. They have had to replace our washer and dryer and dishwasher. They also replaced our two garage door openers because lightning struck. Our home warranty pays for itself every year. They're wonderful to call. They send someone right out and don't let you just sit and have to do without. When our hot water heater quit heating, the tech immediately saw what the problem was, put that part on and fixed it. He wasn't here probably 30 minutes.

    American Home Shield has covered most things, but it hasn't covered some. It's adequate though. Some smaller things like some clogged drainage stuff and some basic kind of home maintenance have been covered. But my AC damper fan was not covered. It got declined. So, I had to pay some money out of pocket on that one. Royal Flush AC & Heating came out and they diagnosed the problem right away, and they gave me a solution. They made the AC cool until I could get a repair guy. But then it was a couple days, and I realized that it was declined. I just went and got my own repair people to replace it.

    The oven started mashing buttons on its own on the digital thing. It would do steam clean and then go to self-clean. Also, it wasn't heating. The lady with American Home Shield said someone was going to be out but they never came out. AHS had another company come and the guy tried to fix it. He told me it was not fixable and that we were going to have to get a new stove. He said he was going to let AHS know.

    A couple of days later, American Home Shield said they were sending someone else out. I called back in and the lady I spoke with was kind of rude on the phone. She told me “No, ma'am. We're going to try to see if we can get this fixed.” The tech they sent came out twice and then he said the oven was all fixed. Three days after he left, it started doing the issue again even with the new parts in.

    We had a leak and the tech replaced whatever needed to be fixed. Everything went okay. It seems to be working a lot better. But we still have a leak because our unit that runs the upstairs AC is not big enough so the AC has to work harder. So right now, we're gonna save up and end up replacing it. But the tech was knowledgeable and really nice. He explained to us that the units outside needed to be bigger. Because one's a three-ton, which is for the bottom part of the house. It needs to be at least a four. Then the one upstairs needs to be a three because it's a two. He explained a lot of stuff to me. I appreciated that. He knew what he was doing.

    Being a homeowner, when something goes wrong, it cost a lot to come out of pocket on certain items. So to only have to pay $100 with American Home Shield, it's kind of a relief to the homeowners that they can have somebody come out and fix it and not have to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket. I would recommend it.

    When I had a guy come out to look at my garage, he wanted to charge $300 to change the motor and something else, and it was actually just a plastic piece that holds the chain in place that broke. I called another company and they came out. They diagnosed and fixed it in 15 minutes and charged me $100 then they left. I felt like I was doing American Home Shield a service by not having to shell out 200, $300 to get this fixed. I understand there's some policies around doing things on your own, but this guy was talking about weeks away in getting it fixed. I got my back issues myself and I couldn't keep lifting up and pulling down on my garage door.

    With my recent claim, I told the technician that there was apparently a leak that was going on with the Freon 'cause he put a kind of Freon. Had he done the proper diagnostics, then I would have known what was going on and how to address it, because now I'm having to get another service company to go out there and look at it again. His communication was good for setting up and coming out. He let me know when he was on his way and what have you. But there was no communication after he completed the service.

    AHS covers certain things but I'm not sure exactly what it covers. If my AC wasn't working, it doesn't say if the policy covers the cost of me getting a new AC. I had used the locksmith one before, so I already knew it and I knew it was gonna be an easy thing. I already knew it was a set amount for so many locks. But as far as some of the other things go that I know are covered on the policy, I don't know how it works, or how fast someone can get here or how much I pay. I've used Steve Rodgers every time for the locks. They have been great every time. From the times I've used AHS, I've been very satisfied.

    I go on to their website and file a report that I need somebody to come out. I pay the deductible that they charge me, and the technician comes out. Then based on the plan that we have with them, like for instance, American Home Shield will cover up to a certain dollar amount per pound of Freon, and then I pay the difference. I love it. I've used them before. It's a great program. I've informed people who owns a home that I know that American Home Shield is a bit of an expense every month. But I've used them three times now in the last four years that I've owned my home and I've only paid out $375 to have three, somewhat major, items fixed or repaired.

    When the air conditioner was blowing out hot air through the vents, I filed a claim with American Home Shield. After I went in and initially placed the claim that I needed somebody to come out, I received some information on who it had been assigned to pretty quickly. Then the individual responded that evening and set up a time to come out to my home the following day. The Freon was low and then a starter type device for the compressor outside had to be replaced as well. The tech that came out was Kevin. He was very professional and knowledgeable. There was a couple of other minor things that he did that he didn't file a claim for. He was great.

    Campbell was good. The pump needed tightened in the Whirlpool and water was running through our kitchen ceiling. The guy I had before them didn't find the leak. But I was impressed with the knowledge that both of the gentlemen had. We had another claim to repair the drain drop and the contractor had to cut a hole in our ceiling. The gentlemen told me that they would be back to repair our ceiling in our kitchen but they never came back. We have quite a beautiful home and it's a little embarrassing after over two weeks.     With my recent AC claim to American Home Shield, everything went well. The tech was fast, efficient, found the root of the problem, fixed it, and was on his way very quickly. His visit was short. I was very pleased with him. He was a very respectful young man, and he did a really good job. The AC is working back to par like it was. The claims process with the AC was very easy. But on the pool process a while back, I was very frustrated with it. We requested for someone to come out and check our pool and that was a nightmare that took weeks. I was very upset with the service for that.

    On the recent claim, the person who came reinstated my staying with American Home Shield. Off of the previous one I had, I was considering changing services because of the fact that it was a horrible service from calling in and never getting anybody out here. It took two and a half weeks to get someone out here. Even then, the problem was not fixed. We ended up having to just go and buy a brand new pump because according to him, it was going to be months before we could get a replacement part. He told us we could buy a pool pump from him for like $625 and install it. My husband said, “You know what? Forget it. I'll just go buy it myself.” So we did. We bought it for 300 and something and my husband put it in and the pool is working fine.

    We've had American Home Shield since we moved in to the house in 2017, and I've never had a problem with them. Somebody comes out as soon as I put a claim in and takes care of the issue right away. What frustrated me with the pool problem was that I kept calling in to the 800 number and I kept getting thrown around. The initial email said that they would be contacting me, but it could take up to two weeks before they contacted me. I called the 800 number and I was like, “Two weeks! That's too long for my pool to go without the pump working.”

    I kept getting thrown from person to person and nobody could help me. I ended up canceling the first job. When I tried to call the company myself, they went and tried to get a voicemail, and I had left a message and I had never heard back from them. I got on American Home Shield and I reached out to the 800 number and I called and I spoke to many different people. The problem never got solved. American Home Shield refunded me the $75 because I had cancelled it. If you're not looking for pool service, American Home Shield is great. When it comes to people servicing the pool, I didn't have the best luck. Hopefully, things will change and that I won't have to have my pool serviced for a while.

    I can get small things done, but if it’s anything major, I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield. I've had air conditioning problems in the past, and I was so hot and miserable for days, I just went and bought a new one. There’s not that many merchant vendors. It could just be my area though. When I call, it’s the same plumber in my area that has to come. I'm on the East End and when I have a problem, I call that plumber. He fixes that, but I have the same problem next month. However, the crew that came out a couple days ago for my AC was very professional. My air conditioning was on, but it wasn’t blowing any air. There was a bug inside the condenser. I did the claim on American Home Shield's website and it was very convenient.

    I start with my air conditioner every year so that I could stay under the warranty with no issues. I was told I had a gas leak so I called American Home Shield for them to fix it. I called on Friday and US Air Conditioner came out on Monday. The service was quick and neat. I showed the tech pictures of what needed to be fixed. He serviced the leak but he told me he didn't have anything to do with the water pan that's collecting water.

    I'm still having an issue with American Home Shield. I'm not satisfied right now because I keep having a problem with my toilet. The issue has been going on since March. If an issue is not fixed and continues on and the customer pays the monthly payments, the customer shouldn't have to keep paying another $100 for someone to come out for service until the issue is fixed. The customer shouldn't have to pay for something that is not running.

    I've never had a good experience with American Home Shield. They make me go through so many hoops and the girls that answer are so rude. They always tell me to keep my phone lines open but I have to work. They're so cold and sterile with what they say. Then, when the guys come out, usually, it's never right away. My recent claim was for the air conditioner and Starlight HVAC came out. The tech said the unit needed Freon and that it needed quite a bit. He put the Freon in and said it was done and he left. It cost me 500 bucks. Then, I didn't realize the fan was running until the next day. But it wasn't getting cold. I called and the tech couldn't come out for days. And when he came out, he found that there was a wire that got crimped and he had to replace it.

    I also had a water heater claim and the contractors didn't put in my water heater right. It sounded like my whole garage was going to explode because the guy didn't know about a bracket that he was supposed to take off. He came out here four times. Then, with my dishwasher, the guy came out and said it's clogged. My dishwasher is still not working right. The dishes are still not getting cleaned and the soap is still not draining. I wish AHS would just improve.

    The service with American Home Shield is horrible. We are changing warranty companies. My tub is still not fixed. My stove was out from February until they sent a check about three weeks ago. I had to have somebody else come back out this past week for my air conditioner because initially, the contractor fixed the wrong unit. I have three units. The first technician that came out mislabeled the unit. But they did fix the right unit. Also, there’s a language barrier. I want to speak to someone that can understand me and that I can understand. The coverage is subpar. There were things that I thought would be covered with our insurance, but it was not. So we ended up paying $2,000 for the air conditioning unit to be fixed. I paid the $75, but they didn’t cover the part that needed to be covered. So American Home Shield is not for us anymore.

    The first time we called, the company took two days to get back to me. Then they said it was going to take 10 days to come out. That was unreasonable as this was an air conditioning issue. I was trying to be patient, we had a little bit of a cold spell anyway, then I went ahead and called AHS back because 10 days was a long time. They were great about getting another contractor who came right out and fixed the problem. The only issue is, when you call AHS, you never talk to a person on your end and it's just this whole recording thing. It's hard because you don't know that you have that option of asking for something sooner or a different person. All in all, I’ve been paying for my AHS warranty for five years and I've only used it two or three times. So at this point, I am probably wasting my money. But we have it more as we don't have the budget for something major if something really big happened.

They defer it up to another company then I've got to get a check back. When I call customer service, I can't understand them. It's very frustrating.     I put in two claims for my bathrooms. In one bathroom, the Whirlpool motor died on my bathtub. I also have a toilet that was leaking on the inside from the parts in there. It was not flushing correctly. I also have a bathtub that had a broken drain thing. The handle doesn't work very well and it's very tight. A tech came and looked at everything to verify what I was talking about. He wrote to me today and said that he had to present his findings to American Home Shield. There was some kind of a problem since I only requested one. I went back and canceled one because I was under the impression I might be able to get everything at one time. I was told no and I didn't know what to do next. A young woman told me that I just had to do plumbing and not just say toilet.

    I have four other houses that are with American Home Shield. I have three rentals that I've been taking care of here in town. The only thing American Home Shield couldn't do for me was pay for the camera that the plumber sent down through the sewer pipe to find out what the problem was. Other than that, the plumber fixed the leaks that were under the house and got rid of all the fluid under the house. He called a restoration group himself and told them that I needed help. He was a fine gentleman. He was very gracious and helpful. He could tell that I was a little bit uptight and he talked very gently. He was probably used to having women like me who have notations at a certain time when they're frightened about things.

    I have recommended American Home Shield. I have an elderly lady here and her daughter didn't know anything about the home warranty. She wanted it for her mother who is living by herself. She ordered the home warranty. Also, I stayed at a great B&B here in my town. We told the owners about American Home Shield and they never heard of it. They were so excited because they had little problems appearing all the time. They got the home warranty too.

    I called in a claim and technicians were here the next day and fixed the problem. I can’t ask for anything more than that. American Home Shield is worth the monthly premium. When things go wrong, you have someone who can come out and repair your AC unit, heat, refrigerator, or dishwasher. The only thing is it would be good if American Home Shield had some type of service for emergencies where someone can come out then. The process can be sped up even if it costs more money. I had a leak and I had to go downstairs multiple times to get water up just because there's no one that American Home Shield has contracted with that could come out within a certain number of hours. My neighbor turned me on to a plumber who could have done the job and he works 24 hours a day. With American Home Shield, people aren't working 24 hours. The emergency option would have been good to have.

    The air was not blowing cool air. It was 90-something degrees out here. We called AHS and Mr. Cool came out. Matthew was excellent. He found the major problems and he fixed everything. It was working just fine. Exactly a month later, it started doing the same thing. We called Mr. Cool directly first because we didn't want to have to pay another $100. We figured it was still under warranty. They were very gracious to us. They came out the next day. The second technician called us and said he'd be there in 20 minutes. He came and found the problem very quickly. He fixed it. They were all very good, professional and had our air going in a very short time. They even called and made sure it was still working and to date, it is still working. We were very pleased that they were able to get us in an early window the best they could. They made us a priority and made us feel valued. We were also pleased with American Home Shield for not charging.

    But AHS always takes your money first. But this time, they didn't take the service fee, until the work was done and we appreciate that. But we had a claim for the garage and they sent someone out, knowing that they don't replace the spring that broke. We couldn't open our garage and the guy got here and said it was not covered. So then, we had to get someone else to come. It was a big ordeal. They ended up giving me my money back. But it was very unprofessional. It also happened with my dishwasher. The guy came out and it was just a joke. $100 for nothing. We didn't get our money back. It’s also not clear on there what is covered. It just says components and parts. A 60-something-year-old woman doesn't know what components and parts are covered. On their paperwork and on their explanations of what's covered and what's not, the average layperson does not understand that.

    My HVAC unit wasn't working and I called American Home Shield. The process was relatively easy this time. It's just that sometimes, you get someone with a language barrier, which makes it a little more difficult. I have a problem if I can't understand someone and I’m calling to get an explanation. After making the claim, I got the email once the contractor was assigned. It said they should reach out to me within 24 to 48 hours. But because it has been terribly hot, I was proactive and I called Cecil and Sons directly so I could get someone out faster than waiting. Cecil and Sons was very professional and upfront about what the next step was with respect to the repair. They had to order some parts then once those arrived, they are able to do the repair. They are scheduled to come back on Saturday.

    I renewed with American Home Shield in April and the price jumped up significantly for the package that I have. Another thing is occasionally when you call American Home Shield, you find out something that is wrong with one of the systems that you've onboarded with may or may not be covered. You really have to read that contract in detail. But not knowing what's going to be wrong with something, you really can't tell whether it's covered or not. That aside, I've been very pleased with the service from my home warranty. I recommended American Home Shield and the person onboarded with them.

    The contractor fixed the problem with my refrigerator freezer. They checked out the unit and found that the controller wasn't working. So they replaced the controller and everything was working fine. But yesterday, all of a sudden the freezer froze up completely and then it quit working altogether. I'm gonna have shut it off because it's got water running through to the freezer itself and I've got water all over my floor. So I will have to put in a new claim on that. But I was happy with American Home Shield's response and their help. American Home Shield gives me confidence that I'm protected in some way from these kind of things. When you have a problem, you have someplace to call and have them come and fix it. Otherwise you wind up having to deal on your own trying to get somebody out here to do something.

    We had a tech named John and he was a super guy. He was very professional, courteous, and friendly. He did an extremely good job. We had somebody clean our tankless hot water heater about a year before and charged $100 but they didn't do a very good job. John, on the other hand, took the thing completely apart and cleaned it very thoroughly. While he was there, we noticed the unit was still beeping and throwing off an error message. He said, “Let me call Rinnai while I'm here and see if they can help me with this.” He did and they said that if it was still beeping, we would need to get a new fan motor for it.

    Three days later, the unit started beeping again so we called John and he said to send in another service request. American Home Shield would get him with that and he could then order the part. That way, everybody would be paid. I did that this morning and I've already talked with John. He's supposed to be ordering us a part. The job's not complete but I feel confident that he's gonna get it completed based on the supply chain getting him the part that he needs to fix our Rinnai tankless hot water heater.

    On the whole, American Home Shield's process was relatively easy. It’s a pretty user-friendly system and I'm currently happy with it. In fact, that was why we went to them. We had another home warranty service for about five years and we had a couple of bad experiences. The company we were using was not rated high. My wife looked at American Home Shield and they had a pretty good rating. We are basically test-driving the home warranty so if they keep up the good work, we will keep using them.

    The air conditioning was just blowing hot air, not cooler air. The tech came in, quickly figured out what the problem was, and fixed it. We've had no problems since. However, we're having a problem with our electrical in our kitchen. We put in a request to have it fixed and it's been horrible ever since. It took over a week for the person to come out. He was here for all three minutes and said that American Home Shield won't fix the HVAC, which had nothing to do with the kitchen electrical then he left. American Home Shield kept on saying that they were waiting on the report from the vendor and then they could address it. They were supposed to have it the next 24 hours within him coming to see us. It's been over two and a half weeks and we still have not had anything.

    I talked to them again on Friday and the young lady was sorry and that she didn't know why they haven't gotten the information from the vendor. She said she'd call the vendor and she would call me that afternoon. Now, it's almost Tuesday afternoon and I still haven't heard anything back. I don't know if the people that we're able to talk to that tend to handle the appointments are trained on that or if they need a separate department for that. It just seems like I've been passed on to three different people and none of them seem to be able to know or handle what's going on. It's very frustrating. This is our first experience with using a warranty company and this last claim has been pretty much a nightmare.

    Initially, our dishwasher stopped working. It was kind of a newer dishwasher, so we called the guy to look at the dishwasher. He said it was not the dishwasher. So, then we thought it was the plug where the dishwasher was plugged into. It was weird because the dishwasher's been here since October. When the guy came, he was like, "Oh, no. Your plug is fine." He said what was wrong was the dishwasher had a three-prong type thing but the plug was a two-prong type thing. So, we just added like an extension plug to it and plugged it in.

    I've had American Home Shield for the last 20 years. I've had it at different properties. So, for me, it's useful. I've had really good experiences at times, and then I've had bad experiences. I get everybody's trying to make money, but sometimes it's like if there's an issue, they wanna just try to fix it. Sometimes, you just need a new one. I had an issue with my refrigerator and by the time I've paid people to come out 50 million times, they ended up just saying, "Here. Here's the money. Just get a new refrigerator 'cause the refrigerator's not working.” Sometimes, you get frustrated.

    The garage door would close then immediately go back up and wouldn't go all the way up. It was only going about two-thirds of the way up. Something was worn out inside that the contractor had to fix. They gave me the option. The opener's 23 years old and they said that American Home Shield would cover rebuilding the part that was broken or I could take that $150 to be the cost of rebuilding and apply it to a new garage door opener, but I would have to pay the rest of myself. I chose to have them rebuild and it's working perfectly. However, it seems to me that American Home Shield is shortsighted in their restriction that they would only cover a rebuild, not a replace. They should have just paid to have a brand new one put in because another part's going to break down next.

    If anything major goes wrong, AHS wants to argue about it and say it’s my fault and it's not covered. And that's not why I pay 700 dollars a year, and have for the last 20 years, for them to argue with me about replacing something that can't be fixed. One thing was my hot water heater. They'd only pay for the water heater, they wouldn't pay for bringing it up to code. The other thing that I got them to fix was when my air conditioner went out before but they weren't gonna replace it because it was bad maintenance.

    My experience with American Home Shield is not always as I expect. They don't understand some of the things that we are going through. I had an issue last year with the air conditioning and it took a couple of days before they were able to get somebody out. It was 115 degrees out here. They advertise on television that within 24 hours, somebody should be here. Now, they tell me it's 24 to 48 hours. It's fine if their customer is in the Midwest but we're in Arizona and next week our temperatures are gonna be up to 117 degrees, people cannot live in a house with no air conditioning for 48 hours.

    Also, some of the vendors that they have are trying to take advantage of the homeowner. There have been times where I've had to call on different things and some of the vendors would say "Oh, that's not covered under your plan." I then call AHS and say I want a second opinion and they would send another company and that company would fix my problem.

    Most of the people that I talk to from there are not in the USA. I had one gal that I started to talk with and I couldn't understand her. I said "I'm having problems understanding you" and she hung up on me, so I had to call again. The gal that I got the second time was fine though. Recently, the air conditioning wasn't working. The tech was nice, prompt, and very professional. He found the problem and was able to fix it. I was fairly satisfied with his performance.

    AHS first sent out Cutting Edge and they didn't fix the AC. They were overcharging because they were saying I had to get some Freon which they said was going to be $1,000. I told AHS I need somebody else to come out and they sent Service Mechanical of Tidewater. It was on a Saturday when I called AHS and it was getting hot. Service Mechanical called me that Sunday and they came right on out.

    They did a very good job. The guy opened up the unit and he cleaned it out real good. He put some of that nitrogen spray and some other spray for the ants and all around and everything. He closed it back up and the unit started working. He had to come out a second time because it was wet and the stuff was gonna wash away. After a day or so, he went back out and he really blew everything. He put that little spray in there for the ants and he even showed me.

    The only thing I don't understand is when AHS first sent out Cutting Edge, I went online and read the reviews. People have complaints. Why is this contractor still their number one choice when people have AC go down? But I have no problems with AHS. When they send these people out that are not doing quality work and I don't think it's right, I could call them back and tell them I want someone else. And they will send someone else because I have that option.

    We had just had our septic lines replaced. We were hearing some gurgling. Submitted the claim online was very simple and quick. We submitted a claim on the 27th. It was a different plumber scheduled to come out that day, because at that point, we were having bad backups. At the last minute, they had to cancel that appointment because the plumber who was supposed to come out had a personal emergency. And the plumber's rep told me to contact American Home Shield and tell them that this was an emergency to see if they could get someone else out. They couldn't.

    So, what I went ahead and did was cancel the appointment and had someone else come out, because we had had our septic tank drained earlier that week and we had a leak that was filling it back up. So, that person came out and replaced our septic line, but we were still having some issues. That was when we contacted Mac Mac. When we submitted the claim, I waited the 24 hours, and we didn't get any contact. So, I called Mac Mac and that was when the tech scheduled the appointment to come out. The tech came out, checked all the lines and made sure everything was okay. He explained everything to me. He told me some things that I could do to keep from having problems in the future. He was very professional and friendly. I'm very happy with AHS. It has met my expectations, even though this was only the first time I've had to use them. Hopefully, it will be the last unless something goes wrong. But my experience has been very good.

    I called American Home Shield to let them know that the refrigerator stopped being cold. I went through a prompt system. It’s not like the old days where you could call and talk to somebody. Nowadays, you have to call and they just do it automatically more or less. It’s a recording type thing. It works out okay but I like the personal contact before when you could call and talk to somebody here. Sometimes you might talk to somebody that might be in the Philippines or wherever. But my claims have been submitted and approved. Whoever they have assigned will call and set up an appointment. Then they tell you the appointment day, and follow through.

    The technician who came for the refrigerator was very good. There was a problem and they had to come back, but they came back and corrected whatever had to be done. The condenser had to be replaced. There was water leaking and there was something to do with the Freon. They came out and repaired that, too. So it’s all working good now. I've gotten good service with American Home Shield. I've had it since ‘08. It started with $50 only deductible per visit, then it went to 60, now it’s 75. I wish that didn’t have to keep going up. But I had good luck with them. Give them a try.

    The AC wasn't blowing out good. But initially, we thought it was a clog. I probably wouldn't use American Home Shield again and I'm considering if I would continue with them because when they thought a drain for the central air was clogged, the techs used my bleach and water to clean it out and it costs $89. I didn't understand that. The tech poured my bleach down, and then it was like $89. He didn't use any tools. Then he went outside and realize I need a refrigerant. But if I didn't say like, "Hey, I don't think that's it," I would have been paying another $100 for somebody to come out. So after he told me I needed more refrigerant, I just ended up going to somebody else for the refrigerant. I didn't use them. AHS is not very helpful. Even once I realized I need a refrigerant, the home warranty only covers $10 per pound, and refrigerant costs $135 per pound. So, I'm still paying the bulk of it when they only take off $10 and I have to pay $125.

    The tech came out the very next day after I put the claim in. He said there was a loose wire up in the attic. It was not recording the temperature, so therefore, the AC wasn't coming on. The fan would work but it never got cold. I asked him how did the wire get loose up in the attic when no one goes up there. He said sometimes, it's because of the vibration of a fan and the equipment up there is vibrating. He had to reattach some wires. So it was a very quick fix. The AC is working great now.

    Our kitchen sink had a leak in it and once the plumber determined where it was from, it turned out to be from a hose in a soft water system that we were no longer using. We had it turned off. The plumber disconnected that hose from wherever it was hooked up that was allowing it to get water, tied that off, and then that was corrected just like that. It was American Home Shield's quickest repair appointment ever because it was so obvious what was wrong and the guy pinpointed it right away. There was also no other leakage and it was a good result.

    I like the fact that they were able to get there, get it done and leave quickly. It was something simple and he didn't try to sell me a bunch of junk that I didn't need because I didn't need it. I had somebody here yesterday that wanted to completely take the garage door opener out and put a brand-new one in for 1,000 bucks. I said, "No way." We finally got down to some actual repairs it needed and that was how we handled it. Just comparing the two, at least the plumber didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need. With American Home Shield, I just call one number and they come and take care of things that are wrong. The only problem is I gotta make sure it's covered.

    American Home Shield did a quick turnaround more than what I have been accustomed to in the past. I was pleased with the timeliness of getting someone out to take care of my AC unit that had gone out. The tech said that the issue wasn't the AC but an electrical issue. So he called it in and then AHS sent out an electrician who resolved the problem.

    Certain things are beneficial with AHS while others are not. I don't like that I have to wait until an appliance completely goes out before they replace it. I called about my hot water heater and I knew there was damage to that. AHS would not replace it until it actually goes out which is a problem because it's in my attic and I risk water damage within my home.

    The techs sent by AHS came out for my washing machine claim. I didn't have an issue with them. I have an issue with the fact that I don't have a washing machine yet. They gave me an option on the washing machine. They told me which one to choose that was comparable to mine. The first one wasn't comparable, so they showed me a second one. So, I chose that one. Apparently, they don't have it in stock, but they did when I ordered it. They kept on saying it's coming out next week, the next week, two weeks, a month. Now, they don't know when it's coming.

    I found the same washing machine in Sumpter Lowe's. It cost $900. The rep said, "You're only getting this price." I said, "You're supposed to provide me with a washing machine and I still don't have it and it's supposed to be comparable. If you can't get it, then you need to find another way to get it." I said they should pay for it but they wouldn't. I spoke to several reps of AHS and they kept on saying the same thing. They said, "Let's find something else different we can do." I said, "Okay. What is it?" They said, "We'll pay you this much." I said, "But that's not going to cover the washing machine." The representative wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor ever.

    The ice maker and the waterline was not working. They fixed it. It was a good experience. Everything went right. The contractor provided good service. I was told that they don't replace filters, which was a disappointing aspect of it. It was one of requests that I had when I made the request for a repair. I gave the filter, serial numbers and everything to have that filter pulled out. Because I've never had a filter like that and replaced.

    When one of the air conditioner’s power plug burnt out, the tech resolved the problem right away. He got it up and running. He was very professional. I was very happy. So far, I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I'm glad that I have it. American Home Shield has really helped me through this whole ordeal. They know what you’re doing and I appreciate it.

The guy did but he was booked so he couldn’t come out for five days. But I understand that it’s that time of year. The guy had to replace the fan motor.     A tech came through to fix the kitchen sink that was backed up. He did let us know he was on his way which I thought was courteous.     The ac guy came out and said something that goes inside the unit outside was shot, and we needed a new one. And then, they would get it rescheduled and they would replace it for us. After not hearing back for a couple of weeks, we called American Home Shield and said, “Hey, when will you have somebody come install our new air conditioning?” They said, “Oh, it’s not covered under warranty. Because there were some exterior damage, and that could’ve contributed to why the condenser inside failed. And therefore, not covered.” So, we're paying out of pocket to have a new air conditioning we need to put in. I am not happy about that. Also, they gave us a lot of trouble on the water heater because they claimed there was a lot of regulatory changes that had to be made. So, we had to spend $800 on the water heater ourselves because they would only cover the tank, not anything that attached to it. I’m thinking about canceling American Home Shield.

    We’ve had A.B. May prior to American Home Shield. We prefer American Home Shield immensely. They are more professional and assertive as far as time goes. I hate calling at 9:30 at night for anything. But I know American Home Shield has the 24-hour number. I greatly appreciate the fact that they were automatically like, “Nope, we're going to get an ad for somebody right away. We're going to go ahead and put a ticket in and you should be hearing back from them before tomorrow.” Within five minutes after getting off the phone, I immediately got a text message. That was absolutely amazing. Whereas with A. B. May, we've had a furnace issue and it was cracked and it was leaking carbon monoxide into the home. But they didn't get back to us until the next morning and they told us that they were coming out.

    I was kind of in cold all that night, and I was wondering what was going on. A.B. May kind of kept us in the dark. But American Home Shield has a great customer service. They are timely and very professional. I would definitely highly recommend them to anybody. They go above and beyond. They say everything that we're going to have to pay upfront. Not only on their website, but when you call in, they also say the same thing.

    I had to give a credit card over the phone to the guy that I spoke to at American Home Shield and he said, “Oh, well hold on. Before you give me that information, I need to turn off the recording. And then, that way, you can give me the information.” I've never had anybody tell me that before. It made me feel at ease that my information was not going to be taken. I love the fact that they did turn off the recording, and then turn it back on after I gave them all the information. It was amazing.

    I submitted a claim for a refrigerator that went out recently. First, I wanted Service Mechanical to come out and I called them to see if they did that. They said, no, they don't do work on refrigerators, so I moved down to their selection. The people that AHS selected for me shot me an email saying that they could not get to the refrigerator until the middle part of June, and then, their suggestion for me was to call American Home Shield and reschedule with someone else. I called back American Home Shield and told them that but they didn't care. The guy on the phone wasn't trying to hear that. "You just gonna have to wait until I get in touch with them." I said, "Switch people, I have a baby I'm trying to fix this for." He didn't care. I wouldn't recommend AHS.

    The people who came told me that the Freon was low. The AC wasn't cooling. The first fellow that came checked it out and he said it appears that there's a leak somewhere in the system. The Freon isn't staying in where it should be. So, he said that he went back to the office and he said that they will send out a second guy to come. He checked out to see where the leak is. He took out whatever Freon was left and then put in hydrogen into the system. He tried to find out where the leak was and correct it. That was yesterday. Now, when he was finished, he told us the leak apparently was in the coil, somewhere in the unit, and that did have to be replaced.

    They're supposed to call me back because they said the coil is covered and some accessory parts. But he said there may be some modification of the unit involved where we may have to get a permit. I said, “What about the grandfather clause while you’re modifying something?” He said, “Yeah, we have to bring it up to code.”

    I had some previous experiences that weren't so great with American Home Shield, but this recent one was totally fine. The technician was knowledgeable. He knew what was going on and solved the problem quite quickly, without a lot of trying to upsell or make an issue out of it that was bigger than need be. I had a very bad experience last year with American Home Shield because I had a dishwasher that broke and it was unusable for three months, while we waited for parts.

    It turned out there was a bad communication between the service tech and the parts ordering department at American Home Shield to find out where the part was, and whether the part was even ordered, which in fact, it wasn't. They said, "Oh, it's coming from Europe. It's COVID. Everything is taking so much longer." The part turned up in three days after I've got on Twitter and made a complaint about it. American Home Shield has a special rep for social media that comes right out. I tweeted at night, the next morning, I had a tweet back with a phone number.

    I've been submitting my claim online lately because going through American Home Shield's phone system is quite painful. I doubt most of the representatives really take severe notes other than, "Oh, we'll schedule a plumber or we’ll schedule an air conditioning guy." But they could say what was happening. Also, when the guy gets there, he might actually have the parts he needs instead of having to make a second or third visit. American Home Shield is supposed to be now offering a new service which allows you to sort of preemptively diagnose the issue with your phone. You should be able to take a picture and show it. But I haven't seen that on their portal.

    I've always used the website when filing claims and I've never had any problems. I just point and click and choose, then they assign me someone. I love it. I knew exactly what company was coming and when they were coming. With my recent air conditioning issue, the technician who was there used his connector thing and determined there was no power to the unit. I went down several floors to my basement fuse box. Right there was the fuse marked AC that was turned off. I just turned it on and it was fixed. After we did that, we talked about maybe the unit's getting old, so possible replacements, roughly how that works, how to get it up there, the cost, and he knew his stuff. It couldn't have been easier with American Home Shield. It's not cheap to get it, so people have to weigh that against the age of their appliances and possible issues that come up.

    Advanced Appliance did a very good job. My only complaint was it took them forever to get me scheduled. It was two weeks after I called till they scheduled the service. For 10 days, I had a leaky garbage disposal. But it got done. The tech was efficient and did the job.     I had a leaking pipe under the hallway bathroom. The guy that came was not able to do it. He said it was put in as a re-eval for the other pipes that had burst in that kitchen. and that we would have to submit a new claim for that particular area. He also said he would have a guy coming from a different company. That guy said he peeked under the house and there was some moisture under there that we needed to get dried up before he would be able to fix the pipe. That guy said that I would need to call AHS again to see if that would be something covered or if I would have to pay out-of-pocket or through my home insurance. The work done has been great.

    Total Air installed our furnace. We had an issue and the first person came and he said it was the plumber’s job. The plumber came, and the plumber said whoever came from Total Air did not connect the pipes. My house has been leaking in my hallway and in my bedroom, and it was from that. The person who came on Friday didn’t even have any tools. He was telling me what he needed. He said, “Well, I could fix it.” I said, “Well, you don’t have any tools. So he said, “Well, I guess I have to come back.” He said he was not a plumber. He really didn’t know what he was doing. Then he said, “This looks like it has been leaking for years.” I said, “No, sir. If it has been leaking for years, I wouldn't have a ceiling.” It was horrible.

    Home Shield is supposed to be sending a plumber out again. The first plumber that was here said that whoever installed the furnace was the problem. I had a roofer to come but he said, “This is not from your roof.” He said the parts are not hooked onto the furnace. They left them undone. Now, carbon monoxide could have come down out of there. I’ve been having sinus headaches for the longest, and it probably was that. It has been just a back and forth thing. I pay Home Shield every month. I live alone. and I got the warranty because I knew I didn't have anyone to do it for me. My ceiling probably will have fallen out if some more rain will come. They’re taking forever. I’m very dissatisfied with everything. Yesterday, I called American Home Shield. The lady I spoke with left me on the line. She told me to hold. She never came back on. I just had to hang up. They have been horrible. I’m an unhappy customer right now.

    Our AC went out and it took the contractor two days till they got out there. But when the guy got out there, he was real friendly and nice. It just took him a few minutes to figure out exactly what the issue was. The issue was a capacitor and he had another one in his truck. So he went and got that. Then he said he was going to check everything else to make sure there were no other issues. He knocked it out and we were good after that. It's really easy to submit a claim to AHS. I just get online and fill out a couple of things. They call or I call them and everything's good. I like having AHS. It's always helpful whenever something goes wrong.

    This is the worst company I have ever worked with. All they care about is collecting your monthly contract fee. I have an open repair in my house for 2 years now. I had to take 12 days off from work for failed service appointments. When I call back to the company for status updates, no one can ever give you the same answer, or a straight answer. The wait times for calls are a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour, just to get on a call with someone who knows nothing about your claim. There is never a supervisor to speak to available, and no one will give you their names or contact information to get in touch with. I strongly recommend you use a different company.
