    American Home Shield could improve in the amount of time it takes them to get back to you for a claim. I've only filed two claims. One was approved within a week, and the other one took a month before they could approve it. The contractors that were hired were pretty professional though. They would call about an hour before they were coming out to make sure somebody was home, and they would get there at the time that they said they would be here. They were respectable, did exactly what they said they would do, and they took care of the claim professionally. American Home Shield could do a better job with having people answer the phone that you can understand. Most of my phone calls were with people that didn't speak very good English. You kept having to ask them to repeat themselves, and it just makes it really tough to ask questions or have your questions answered when you couldn't understand what they were saying.

    The upstairs unit or vents were blowing hot air. It was set on 78 so it should have been cool. The fan outside wasn't turning so it wasn't cooling the air. The place I called said it would probably be 10 days and for me to call my home warranty as it could be done in two. I did and the repair people that came out replaced a capacitor. The unit is working great now.

    American Home Shield is doing a good job. Having them saves money. $75 is a pretty good deal for the part that was replaced. I would tell others of my experience with American Home Shield. Within the first month of getting it, we used it and it probably saved us a couple $100.

    The services that AHS offer are not comparable to some of the other home warranties out there. Because one, if you have a home that's older and you have issues, a lot of the other home warranty companies do not cover them. I love that AHS doesn't hold that against you. I'm a realtor broker, so I definitely will be referring my clients. AHS is a great company to go with and they're very reliable and dependable. Ambient Air also provided great service when they came out. The HVAC system needed to be serviced. The tech was very professional. Everything was running great.

    We had two different leaks. One in the upstairs bathroom. I thought that it was coming from the showerhead. The tech noted that it was from the faucet in the bathtub. So, he replaced that. Then, in our bathroom in the basement, it was leaking out behind the wall into the storage area of the basement. I didn't know why. That bathroom is not used very often. But he also found that on the faucet for the tub, there was a piece that had worn. So, he replaced that. Submitting the claim for that to American Home Shield was fine. Because these were not like Oh-my-gosh-things-are-spilling-out issues and we have other bathrooms that could easily be used, it wasn't a big deal to get someone out here super speedily.

    Previously, we had called about an AC, and the AC company had called us back. They were over a week out. It was summertime, and it was the AC. So, I called American Home Shield back and I talked to a customer service gal, explained the situation to her, and said, “You know, if there's anything else you can do, can you please help us?” She went out of her way to check with a supervisor if she could try to find another company, and she did.

    That company was able to come out the next day. I was very impressed with them because they had a window of time for us. It was a long window which was from 2:00 to 10:00 PM. But the tech assured me that he would be out to our house to take care of it some time that next day. We've had good experience with American Home Shield with the way that they work with us when we do call in. We've had them in the past as well. When we bought this house, we chose American Home Shield again. I'm happy with the responses that we've been getting from them.

    We were noticing a red light on the control panel of the AC of the house we bought two years ago. Service Max came and remedied the problem. The emergency heat mode had somehow been kicked on. A month later, the AC had the red light again. I put another work order through AHS and Service Max came back. At that point, our system was fried. Luckily, we had the original paperwork from the homeowners and the whole system was 15 years old. The techs tried to get it back up and going but it wasn't coming back on. They said I needed a whole new system.

    So, it was getting approval through American Home Shield to get the new system installed. Then, we had to pay our portion for parts that weren't covered. I still don't understand why not everything is covered when something like that is replaced. But it is what it is. Service Max responded to my messages and set up appointments fairly quickly. They installed the new unit and it's been working great. I was happy with the work they did. I've also been happy with AHS. It just saves so much just to pay that $75 co-pay, have a company come out and solve my problems.

    American Home Shield quickly responds back when we submit a claim. The companies that have come out on the claims have been great companies. We've had pipe problems or water leak, we had an air conditioning compressor go out, and then a dishwasher that ended up not being able to be repaired, so they replaced it. The entire experience went just as we would like it to go. American Home Shield is the best homeowner's investment.

    My disposal had something in it that I couldn't get out. It was good when I submitted the claim. It was an easy process. It would be nice if once you're putting in your issue, you could select a vendor that you like. But that probably wouldn't work in my area since it's small. The vendor rescheduled. Their people had COVID. The second time, the tech called when he was ready to go while we were all at work. We just got the disposal fixed last week. But it was good when they got there.

    I had a stopped-up drain in the sink and then, when you turn the hot water on, it was a trickle. The contractor went around and started checking other things and said that they couldn’t do anything until they address this other issue. It seemed like they were trying to get more out of the deal. I talked to my brother who’s a master plumber and he said that the work I need to be done needs to be done but the way that the contractor went about it was wrong. So, now it's going to cost me an extra $1,000 and I'm still waiting on them. They're supposed to be here now. It has been a long process and I’m not happy with the company that American Home Shield contacted to do the service. But I've had different issues with AC and appliances and the people that AHS has sent out for those issues have been dealt with and remedied or repaired in a timely manner.

    The AC was blowing hot air and the tech fixed it. It was apparently a weird issue that the guy had never seen before. He might have been there three hours because he had to troubleshoot it. It ended up being the wiring switch that's behind the thermostat, which was not a part that people carry so they replaced the whole thermostat. American Home Shield was nice to have. It came with the new house I bought.

    I’ve utilized American Home Shield twice in the last couple of months for my plumbing. They said that the pipe burst. They let me know that the way the pipe was, it was probably that time, and they had to replace it. The floor got a little damaged, but I didn’t report that through. Then, another company came in and replastered the walls. They worked with my schedule because the first time I had to have it done, I was out of town. We had to wait another week, and we had to wait for the wall to dry, and they did that. Overall, American Home Shield is timely and gets the work done. People should get it because they really do a good job. I'm glad I have it.

    Updated on 08/05/2021: Update from my July review of AHS. Dec 2019 AHS tech came out to replace the lower heat element in my hot water heater. AHS replaced the until not long before this, so it was "brand new." Yesterday we had no hot water again. My contractor came out today, and reported the following:

    1) "The element had been fried." The AHS tech "turned the main breaker on before the tank had time to fill, causing it to fry immediately."
    2) My tech also replaced the emergency valve that AHS tech refused to replace. It took literally 2 minutes to complete that task.

    3) His professional experience has been that home warranty companies put profit before people. Prioritizing money over the quality of the service they provide.

    My experience with AHS has been disappointing.
    1) They made no further attempt to find some sort of resolution to my July review.
    2) When I tried to cancel my service, the rep was persistent in trying to talk me out of it. Then informed me that department was closed, and I would have to call back at another time.

    3) Poor response time for service emergencies. I have to wait several days for hot water, HVAC, or plumbing issues.

    Do yourself a favor... Instead of paying AHS a monthly fee, put that money into a "home repair" account and find a good local tech. That way you have the funds when you need them. If you do have AHS, then I hope your experiences are vastly better than mine have been. If they aren't, then please don't my experiences be yours. Good luck!

    Original Review: I don't typically leave reviews. But after 12+ years of being with AHS, I felt compelled to share my experience. I have only requested AHS repair services a handful of times, and I feel they have repeatedly offered substandard performance. Several times I actually had to cancel my AHS service request, and hire outside technicians.

    1) Replacement of hot water heater - unfinished service and rude/sexist behavior from tech: Repairman did not replace the ER shut off valve on top of the water tank when the repair was completed. Wife asked if he would please put an ER valve back in place, like it was before the repair. Tech told wife "you don't really need it." Wife stood ground in wanting it to be put back the way it was supposed to be, and tech said he "didn't have a valve in the truck." He said he would have to come back out another day to add the valve. Wife spent the next 2 weeks calling this tech with no response. AHS site showed service as completed, and AHS would help make this right.

    2) Repair of a hot water heater - AHS-contracted tech left basement floor flooded: The AHS-contracted tech said "there's a little water down there" as he was leaving post-repair. Actually, the floor was left flooded, and numerous possessions where damaged beyond repair. Apparently the tech tried to use the floor drain, not realizing it's a slow drain. So the water backed up into the he basement. So then he resorted in snaking a hose out the basement window. However, he didn't let the hose drain before pulling it (and all the water inside the hose) back into the basement.

    3) HVAC issue - lost heat, temps were below freezing: After 48 hours of below freezing Temps in winter, waiting for AHS to locate a tech, I asked if I could call a local tech to help get some heat. I was told no, and I that I had to wait until AHS located a tech. There was no ETA, and they kept telling me to call back later to follow up. I had them cancel my service request, refund my service fee, and I hired a local tech who came out and had it fixed within 2 hours. I was told by AHS that my next service fee would be covered in full, for my inconvenience. So I decided to give them another shot. 2 months later...

    4) HVAC issue - lost AC, Temps in excess of 95 degrees: I called AHS to request service, and let the rep know that my file should reflect AHS's offer to waive my next service fee. Rep told me they "still have to collect the service fee, then pull the other rep who handled my last request to see if they remember granting this exception." I told her that I would be canceling my account, and would no longer be using any of their services.

    My intent is only to offer my personal experience and perspective, in the hope that someone may find some objective value. I found AHS customer service to be substandard and unempathetic. I found the repairs to be substandard. AHS received a monthly paycheck from me for over 12 years, and the handful of times I reached out for help I was met with excuses and empty promises. It has been my experience that they prioritize profit over people. AHS lacks integrity and professionalism,. I'm hopeful you may have a more positive experience. As for me, AHS will no longer be receiving my patronage.

    The initial repairman was a very kind man, but I had to wait two weeks after he came out and said that the unit couldn't be fixed. I called American Home Shield to say, "What is the status? I haven't heard anything." They said, "Well, he just turned the claim in today." That was a little disheartening, but everything from American Home Shield was easy. Everybody was kind and they completed everything within 10 minutes on the phone. I haven't received the tech yet, but I expect that won't be an issue. This home warranty company has a brilliant process and I've already recommended them.

    We've been having trouble with our air conditioning unit and there was a young kid that come out. He had been out of school for about two months and he worked on it. He tried out a part and he left, but it wasn't fixed. So we called him back the next day. He tried out another part, did something else, and left. Then an hour later, the AC wasn't doing anything. What happened was that he had gotten the wires crossed and instead of pulling air in from the sides and going out the top of the unit, it was doing just the opposite. So he came back out, switched the wires, and left again. But the unit still wasn't fixed and he didn't even check to see if it was blowing cold air when he left.

    So we tried for a day and a half to get in touch with the company that we were dealing with. We sent four texts and we called several times. We sent an email as well and they weren't responding. So finally, we called the home warranty company then they called them and they answered the first time. So this air conditioning company was dodging us. But they finally called us and they're supposed to be sending out a senior agent sometime today.

    We've had other repairs with AHS aside from this ongoing issue. On our first month in this house, our stove went out, which was a burner unit, and they could not find one to fit the stove because the stove of that time was seven years old. So, they replaced our stove for us and we got a brand new stove at no cost to us. As for our air conditioning unit, this is the fourth year that we've had to have it worked on. We've always had somebody come out and work on it, and not had any problems with them.

    When I first had American Home Shield, I was somewhat a little disappointed because at the time, I had an older air conditioning unit and the repairman who came out wasn't able to repair it. I wasn't pleased with his service. After I couldn't get the necessary service I needed, I cancelled. But I just recently picked it back up. I still have to call in the claim, but I've had better service with the serviceman who I'm using now, who will be coming out now to service my repairs. I'm still waiting on one more part for my dryer. He tried everything to fix it. Now, he's going to try to get LG specialists to work on it to come up and see what the problem is because it's still not drying properly.

    I really liked that American Home Shield's contractors call me right away. They call me that same day I do a claim or the next morning. I had some electrical work done and the tech from JD Garage Door was excellent. He assessed, took pictures and said, “This doesn't work anymore.” It took a little longer to come in and install the garage door, but that didn't matter to me because he was able to assess the problem and just tell me, “Hey, I will call you when we have availability to come over.” It wasn't necessary for me to put the car in the garage, so it wasn’t critical for me. It’s a good neighborhood. When the tech got his material, then he called me but I was out of town at the time. So, we rescheduled. He was going to be back in about a week, and he was pretty timely on that but I wasn't available.

    I had two services recently done through American Home Shield. They knocked the air conditioner out of the park. The dishwasher was kind of a bust. The air conditioner and dishwasher both went kaput the same time. I got online, ordered an air conditioner repair guy and he came the next day. He was super. The company was super. The guy who came fixed it super fast. I could not improve one thing about the air conditioner repair. That was amazing.

    The guy who came for the dishwasher blamed out my plumbing. He said my plumbing was faulty. I was like, “That's weird because the dishwasher worked, and now it doesn't. So it seems like it's the dishwasher.” He was like, “No, It’s your plumbing. Yeah, no. We can't help you,” and he charged me $100 to tell me that my plumbing was bad when the dishwasher doesn't cycle. It doesn't do anything.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for six years. I come in and file a ticket online. And usually, I hear back within a couple of hours. A couple of years ago, there were spotty issues where suddenly, I was unable to get help in a timely manner. But the last couple of years have been good. I know the prices have gone up a bit, but that's normal. I have a contract that says that all of my appliances, electrical and plumbing in the house, would be covered by the insurance. And AHS has always kept to those expectations. We’ve had some faucets that were misbehaving. The contractor resolved the problem fully and timely. I've been happy. Go for it.

    I called AHS and told them that I had an issue with my unit. They asked me for my $100 to do my service request and I paid that. They told me the name of the company. They also gave me a phone number to call them myself to make sure that they were coming. I touched bases with the company. The lady told me on the phone that she would call me back and let me know exactly what date they were coming out. Four days later, they called me back and told me what day and time that they would be there. Then, the day of, they called me two hours prior to the time that the tech was supposed to be in there and told me that he was coming early, was I at home. I was an hour and a half away. So, I had to get my son to come out of school just to get there so he could open the door for him.

    I came home when he was still working on the AC. He had already put the part on. He turned around and was telling me that he troubleshot the inside and the outside, checked it to make sure it didn't have any leaks. He said my Freon was good and that he had already exchanged the part and showed me the old part that he took off. I waited for him to do everything that he had to do. Then we let the system run to see if it was gonna shut off and run properly, and it did. I asked for a service plan put on there. That way, I could have my system cleaned. Because it didn't look like it was on my contract. I ended up buying the $15 a month plan to add to the contract so they could come and clean my system if it needed cleaning. Everything's been running good, so far. I've had a very good first experience using AHS.

    I had American Home Shield in my home in Panama City, Florida. When I had a problem or two there, they were Johnny-on-the-spot. But I had a different warranty here and it didn't have technicians in this area. We had a problem with our heating about two years ago and since they don't have any people, I went back to American Home Shield because I knew they have technicians here.

    For three years now, I have had similar problems in the summer since I lived here. I have a split unit and the upstairs doesn't keep cool when it gets above 85 degrees outside. It can't keep up. Each of the three years, I called American Home Shield and they called Myers for the job. They found solutions each year. The first time, there was some sort of overflowing water up in the attic with the unit. It was dripping down through the ceiling. Myers always dealt with it but it's not fixed. It's a different sort of problem every year.

    When I make a claim, I can either call a number or use the internet and put in a work order. The only thing is you can't talk to anybody before you pay the $75 fee to get a tech assigned. It would be great to talk to a person but maybe that's more efficient for American Hoem Shield. I wanted to have a tech come back and check something again. I want to talk to a human instead of having to pay again for a recall on the same order within a month. Other than that, customer service is good. One tip is if you wait until a few items within a category need fixing in your home, one tech can be sent for the same fee to fix all of those items. I've had multiple things fixed on one call and that's helpful.

    The people that came out for my AC claim did absolutely a great job and got a great response. They put in a claim for a new air conditioning unit. But that's the only thing, I haven't heard anything whether that was approved or not. But I was happy with everything. My son highly recommended AHS. So I went ahead and took it out.     The element that's in the oven that heats it up had totally broke which I didn't even notice till the technician got here. That was why the oven didn't work. The door wasn't closing tightly too. It was always open a little bit while the oven was on. He changed the brackets on the side and there's a ring that goes around the door to help it stay closed. He did a phenomenal job. I had an emergency that day that he was supposed to come. I had to go to the hospital and left a note at the door. He did come by while I was gone but he called later that late afternoon and said, “I'm in the area. I could come back and fix your stove." It was kind of his after hours and he still came.

    When our sink was leaking, I couldn't get anybody to take care of it. The first person that came out tried to rob me like crazy. Because I know of the people that handle this area, I was able to get in touch with somebody at American Home Shield. We did finally get it resolved but we had to get a different plumber out here to do what we needed done which was to fix the water leakage on our spicket. That wasn't a good experience at all. Also, the problem with a lot of companies is that they give you some other country and these people just have a thing they say but never can you get any help. That needs to stop.

    I called in for the kitchen appliances and the washer. AHS had me explain things, take pictures, and then created a work order. They sent out a technician and he fixed what he could fix. He knew what he was doing and I didn't have to answer a lot of questions. The other stuff that no longer has parts available or couldn't be fixed was cashed out. It's just hard finding the replacement appliances because a lot of people are on backorder with stuff. I have other repairs. I just haven't made a claim for them yet. With AHS, I can call someone to help me because I'm a single mom and I don't know how to fix these things.

    My microwave stopped working, and when I would open the door, it was hot to touch and it was humming. When I set the appointment, I paid the $100 co-payment. Usually, the contractors do a service call, but this one was just virtual. We did a video appointment and I described what was happening and they took pictures of everything via the phone and the model numbers. It's an oven and microwave combo. I turned the power on for them so they could hear it and I turned the power back off. When the repair guy came out, he pulled it all apart, replaced a solenoid, and put it back together. He tested it with water to see if it would make the water hot, and it wasn't working. He pulled it apart again and tested some other stuff. The magnetron had to be replaced.

    I've had good luck with American Home Shield. Good service, easy to work with and easy to set the appointments (just use the online function). I like the company. They've done good for us for things that we've had go wrong previously and for the fees that they charge for the monthly rate. The deductible for them to come out definitely beats the cost of replacing a whole oven-microwave combo. It was also a fast service call (it was a few days). It would have been done quicker, but it was 4th of July. They ordered the part and their communication was really great. They sent text messages to confirm. The repair guy was Russian so he didn't speak very good English, but he got his point across. I had a couple of questions that he did not answer though. He just gave me the same answers.

    Submitting the service request is fine because I can go online and do it. It works great. The contractor that came for the AC was quick. They showed me everything that needed to be done. They came back in a timely manner and fixed it quick. The AC work was great. I'm totally pleased with it. But I got a refrigerator claim that was put in on May 15th that has not been fixed yet. It is entirely too slow. There was a part ordered but it ended up being the wrong part. The icemaker has to be replaced. When I called back AHS, they were answering the phones at first, but then they wouldn't answer the phone. I kept leaving messages. One time, I held on the phone for almost 20 minutes. So that was a horrible, horrible experience, and I'm still going through it.

    I love American Home Shield’s service. Putting in a claim online is very easy and they're prompt with getting in touch afterwards and calling and setting up the appointment.     The first time my AC was out, American Home Shield sent somebody out and they said they fixed it. The same day, it went back out. I called AHS last Thursday, and they said due to the holiday, they weren't able to get anybody out until the following Monday, which is five days later. Here we are Friday and I have not been able to get any answers from them in regards to if they're going to replace my AC. I have two small children and my house is 110 degrees. I had to stay in a hotel two nights in a row because it's so hot and they're not able to cover it. That's expense out of my pocket.

    I pay my dues every month diligently with no issues, but I'm going in my third week without AC. My only option is to call somebody, spend the money and get it done. I am not very happy with American Home Shield at all. I would love for them to be responsive and come out and let me know if they're going to fix my AC or not. If they're not going to fix it, that's fine. I'll find somebody to fix it for me and pay the money.

    I didn't like it when AHS changed to online submissions, but now I really liked it. Because I've had a couple of instances with the stove when it's been over the weekend, and with COVID, I can't get anybody to pick up the phone. So when I file online, they take the information and then electronically, they assign a contractor right away. I also liked it better when they didn't take the deductible till the service was done. But it's okay. I've had a couple of things where something started working again and then all I had to do was reverse the claims and I got my deductible back. All my neighbors have AHS because I've recommended it and family members too and they are very happy with American Home Shield as well. However, I have a son and a daughter-in-law in the Amarillo, Texas area and they can't get good contractors where they live. But I have a huge advantage here 'cause we have excellent contractors in the area.

    My heating-cooling unit wasn't working well so I put in the claim online to American Home Shield and got a response from them quickly. The heating and air conditioning company responded very quickly and was very professional. We've had them out every year for the last three years for the same thing. I would love it if we could have that entire unit replaced but I also understand how the home warranty works and that they always try to fix before they replace. The rep, Shane, fixed it that day. He came and recharged the unit and did his best to put in a sealer so that maybe we'll have a couple of years of it working well before I have to call him back. Shane is great, very helpful and nice. American Home Shield is a little bit spendy. If the deductible was $75, that would be perfect. But for what it is, I understood it before I got into it.

    My washer was making a grinding noise during the rinse cycle. The claim process was very simple. I did it online and it took me five minutes to submit the claim. The tech from Butler's called me before he came to get the information. He told me over the phone what he thought the issue was and once he got here, the pump had gone out like he said.     On 6/6, I called for service and American Home Shield gave me the name of Acclimate Air. And 6/6 to 6/10, Acclimate ACC never called me back, returned my calls or anything. And my air conditioning was only blowing hot air. It was 108 degrees here for a month. It still is over 100. A couple of times, AHS referred providers that were terrible. So, I always let them know this Acclimate Air was terrible. You can't find a physical address for them. And they never returned a call. AHS needs to get rid of them.

    I did another call to ask for another provider. I was crying. I was dying in my house. I'm an elderly person. And actually called my insurance. They had to wait 24 hours was the answer I got from the person I talked to before they could assign a new contractor, so I waited. And they assigned someone. 6/14 was when they actually changed it. My insurance company changed it. So, I went from 6/6 to 6/14 with no service.

    6/15, I called Austin Air. They came out almost immediately. The young man and another man with him found that the capacitor and a small unit that the capacitor worked with were not working. So, they replaced those. It worked for about three days, and then it went off. 6/16 is when they came out and changed the capacitor. And then on 6/26, they came out again. And that time, the tech replaced two fuses that had burned out, but he left. It was on. It was blowing out, but he never checked to see if it was cooling. And it never cooled. I left it on for six hours and it never cooled. They stayed with it until they found out what was wrong. And on 7/1, he found out what was wrong with it. They were very nice and helpful. I talked to the owner. They finally fixed it, but it was a long time. But as far as knowledge as far as wanting to help you and trying to solve a problem, Austin was good.

So, I called American Home Shield and made an appointment for my air. The techs came out. They did the work, cleaned my unit and all, and that evening, water was still coming from somewhere. I called American Home Shield back and said, "Look, this guy didn't complete the job because my floor still got water." They sent a guy from another company, and when he was checking out the air, I happened to look down by my water heater and that was when I saw where the water is. I said, "Oh, my god. The water is coming from here." So, he looked at it. He said, "This thing is old. This is no good." I said, "Well, let me call American Home Shield and have them send someone out to look at my water heater."

    I called and I made another service call for them to come and look at my water heater. I was right. They sent United Air out and the tech got from underneath and said, "This is shot. It's gone." I figured it would be because it was old. He wrote the ticket up and then he said they would let American Home Shield know what was going on and American Home Shield would contact me. I had to end up calling American Home Shield to find out what was going on. I was still getting water in my floor every day.

    Once I called American Home Shield, they said it was up to the contractor. They had told the contractor what they cover, which is a new heater and removing the old heater and the installation of the new one. Then to make it up to compliance, I would have to pay out of pocket to the contractor. So I said, "Okay. Well, let me call the contractor because you all are telling me what you're going to do, but you're not telling me anything about the contractor's price." They said, "Well, you have to call the contractor."

    I called and talked to the contractor. He gave me a price. I told him, "Give me a couple of days to think about it, because it's quite a bit of money. Well, okay. I'm gonna have to talk it over with my husband. In the meantime, I will call American Home Shield and let them know, ask them how much time do I have to make up my mind. Because I want to go over it with my husband and all." I called them back and told them that I hadn't made a final decision, and I would get back to them. With me saying that, the gentleman that I talked to had put in a cash out slip. I never asked anybody for a cash out slip. When I didn't hear from them, I called them back the day before yesterday. I was like, "Okay. Can somebody tell me what's going on? Because I've talked to my husband, we're gonna go ahead with the contract, so I need to know what's going on." They said, "Oh, well, you requested the cash out." But I didn't request such thing.

    Yesterday, I had to call American Home Shield back to find out, "Well, what's going on with the cash out? Because you're telling me I have to wait on the email from you all to decline it and tell you I'm gonna go on with the estimate and stuff that I was given. And I talked to you days ago, so it doesn't take that long to send me a damn email." The rep said, "Well, give it another 48 hours." I said, "No. I will not because my floor is wet and yours isn't." This morning, I woke up and called American Home Shield back again because I've never received anything once again from them. I talked to this young lady, and she went on and put the order through for me with United Air Temp so I can go ahead and start getting the work done. She sent them an email. The contractor was great. This guy would call me. He would update me.

    I kept American Home Shield for the simple fact that I felt like in the long run, if something did happen, I'd have some protection. I just would like for them to have better response time and better communication. I'd also like them to go through the verbals when they're making this contract. If I call and I ask them, "Well, what's covered," and they tell me, "Your stove, your heater, your air, your this, your that," they should let me know, " We cover the water unit itself. But if there's any extra work beyond that, that's an out of pocket cost for you." They should not have me thinking that I'm paying them this money for a month, year after year, and then when something breaks in my house, they're gonna tell me, "Oh, we're gonna replace your water heater, and we're going to replace them to take it out and the installation cost. But any other work besides that, that's on you." What the hell am I paying them for if they didn't tell me that beforehand?

    People need to know that beforehand, especially during this time going through this great pandemic. People are already stretched. People can't even afford half the things they could afford. People are out here surviving, just trying to keep a roof over their heads. American Home Shield needs to be more compassionate to their customers, instead of more compassionate for their company. Before now, I would tell people, "Oh, I think it's probably a pretty good investment." But now, I would tell them to weigh their options and look into other people that offer the same type of service and make them thoroughly go over that contract with them.

    My AC was not working. The tech said he fixed it. The air is coming out. But he didn't stay enough to make sure it's working well. So I realized after, "Okay. Maybe we'll give it some time." But it's not cooling. So there is air coming out, but it's not cool air. I called him back and I didn't get an answer. So I called back American Home Shield to dispatch him back because the work was not done properly, but he probably didn't know that it needed something in addition to what he did. He came back yesterday, and he said he wasn't sure what it was. So, he's gonna call Carrier and let us know. That's the last I heard from him. AHS was friendly and available. But I would have liked this to happen faster. It's a longer wait time than expected. I'd rather bring the person I know to fix it and fix it properly from the beginning. I know AHS has tried their best, but it's a hassle at this point.

    I paid thousands of dollars to American Home Shield for their home warranty. The first time I needed it they couldn't repair my dishwasher because the parts were backordered. I still haven't heard back on whether they will refund me for the new dishwasher I had to buy with my own money.     The guy from ID Mechanical came for the air conditioner that wasn't working. I put in a request to American Home Shield on their website, and it was very easy. Once I hit submit, I immediately received the email that said that they would let me know who would be the contractor assigned to me. Then, a few minutes later, I got the email of who was assigned to me. But that person never called, so I had to reach out to that person. That was where the drop off was, but I don’t think it was American Home Shield's fault. The first contractor they sent out here didn’t know what was wrong with it. So, we had to do a second request, which is why they dispatched the ID guy. He worked with my husband. Eventually we got the AC fixed. He had to make about four trips back and forth here, and the hubby never complained. So, the ID guy did real good. He put some antifreeze and he double-checked to see if it needed some kind of pipe.

    As far as American Home Shield, overall, they're good. I just feel like they never return calls. Every time, I feel like it's a hassle. I'll go to the website, put the request in, but that person never reaches out, so we have to drill down on that person. Then when we call back, we have to start it over with American Home Shield because for some reason it's not in there. It’s a lot of going back and forth. Also, I don't have anything bad to say about them, but I don't feel like we get what we probably should get out of it. We're not getting a lot of the services that we need because it's not covered. But we're not willing to not have insurance with them because we need them more than they need us.

    I have some issues with American Home Shield. When I've placed something in or I had a recall on an order that was placed, nobody ever calls me back. I do the calling. I had an issue with my refrigerator icemaker. It worked for a while and then it started doing the same thing again. When I called American Home Shield to do a recall, it was, "Okay. We'll try to get the contractor back out." The contractor called me and said that he was coming, but he never showed up. I contacted American Home Shield back to let them know that he never came and they kept trying to contact him. I called and asked what was going on 'cause it was a month after that. They said they couldn't get him. He was not responding. I said, "Well, just get another contractor." "Well, no. I have to have it escalated."

    Nothing came back and then they closed my ticket without even contacting me. I called back and the representative said, "Oh, you don't have any active ticket." I said, "No. That's not true." I said, "I'm still waiting on someone to contact me back. It didn't escalate to whatever department they were supposed to escalate it to.” He said, "Ma'am, there's no ticket." I said, "No. This was for my refrigerator icemaker." I was on the phone for two hours and they ended up getting someone to come out. They did the recall in January and it took until July to have it completed. The repair man wasn't there five minutes, diagnosed it and then the part came in a week and a half ago. He came out last Tuesday and fixed it, and that's from me calling. Even with my AC unit last year, that took almost five months.

    We’re very happy with AHS. We were impressed. They work quite well. We had a claim for a whirlpool tub. It turned out that there's no access point to the whirlpool tub in our bathroom, so it's not repairable. But that wasn't a big deal. We don't have to have whirlpool tubs, we just thought we would see if we could get it fixed. There was another issue with toilet plumbing. The plumber came, he fixed it and everything worked. He just had to replace one of the valves. Our pool heater wasn't working recently. We submitted the claim, and then we waited three days. Then we called the company, and then they scheduled it a few days later. They came for the first visit to figure out what was wrong, and then they discovered they need to replace a few parts. They ordered those parts and they’re coming on Monday.

    I'm probably not going to renew my contract with AHS. It's something that I really haven't used the entire year. And the one instance that I did use it, Neely Brothers came in, did a repair, but I've got them scheduled to come back again and do a follow-up. They didn't get it right the first time. But they were polite and clean. The tech removed the old part from the toilet tank and put in a new part. On the first day, it seemed to be okay. But now, when I go in and I listen, I can still hear the water running, which makes me think that the replacement is faulty. But if they had come and replaced it and I had no problems afterward, I probably still wouldn't be renewing AHS because I haven't had any issues for the entire year. It was the only one time that I ever phoned in a need for a service.

    Someone came out on February 16th to fix my microwave. I was told the parts would be there in a few days then the company said they needed to order the parts. Months went by and at the end of March and April, they said the parts were lost or damaged. I asked to speak to supervisors with American Home Shield but there was never one and never an email. They said they were going to reorder the parts. They did and the appointment was rescheduled for June. But the parts came damaged again.

    I had to buy a microwave in the meantime while waiting for my over-the-oven microwave to be fixed. I got a call that the parts are in again but I spoke to several different agents that said that my microwave was going to be put in for a replacement. Every time I called back, the other agent wouldn't put it in the notes. It's been ridiculous. My whole thing with my microwave is after five months, how can they not replace this? There has got to be a time limit of how long this should take. American Home Shield says one thing and the people that are doing the service are saying another thing. An agent said, "We can replace it. But we need the company to do that." The company would say, "No, they have the authority to do that. We now have the parts that are coming again."

    This claim started February 16th and we're almost on July 16th. I've spent probably 15 hours on the phone with these people. Things have not gone the way they should have and American Home Shield has not handled it in the way they should have either. It's been a really bad experience. There should be improvements in communication, with the notes that their agents are taking, with the fact that is there was never a supervisor I could speak to, and how they would never do an email address out. It was a lot of not being transparent and a lot of wasting of the customer's time.

    I pay a premium for this appliance to be repaired but it hasn't been repaired in a timely manner. COVID or not, I've been more than patient. I'm leaving American Home Shield. The follow-through and the communications are not working. I kept getting, "we'll call you back" and "we're talking to our parts people". No one ever would call me back from there with American Home Shield. Their customer service is not where it should be.

    I have used American Home Shield before and I was also happy with the plumber they sent. My air went out recently and I was desperate so American Home Shield got someone out here. The first company didn't respond. I called back and told American Home Shield to choose another company. This claim turned out great and they sent out people. I was happy. But I started realizing, "Is it the company that was the problem? That’s out of their control."

    The microwave claim has definitely been a sore subject. This has wasted so much of my time and stressed me out so much. The number of hours I've had to be on the phone, repeating the same story then finding out that the agent before didn't do what they said they were going to do was disturbing. The fact that there is never a supervisor that I could speak to didn't make sense to me. For the amount of time and energy and what it cost and what my premium is, I could have bought a new microwave and paid someone off the street to fix the microwave.

    My air conditioner was out for three weeks, but the contractor was able to fix the problem. My problem is trying to get my refrigerator fixed through American Home Shield. It's been nothing but a nightmare. My refrigerator broke the same time my air conditioner broke. When you try to talk to American Home Shield, you get a foreign call center. One of the people I called was a gentleman with a super thick accent, which was okay. I was trying very hard to understand him, but he had five dogs barking in the background. I asked him if he has some dogs and he said yes and that he was working at his neighbor's house. He told me his internet went down and that they were working from home. I ended up having to hang up on him. I couldn't understand a word he was saying plus the dogs. I hung up and then called back.

    I got another foreign call center with roosters crowing in the background. I said, “Are those roosters? I can barely understand you.” She said, “Yes, it’s morning here where I am. The roosters are waking up.” These people are polite, but they read from a script. If you have a problem that you're trying to get solved, they don't deviate from any script. They can solve the easy stuff, but the hard stuff they cannot assist you with. I've made about 10 phone calls trying to get somebody who repairs LG Refrigerators. American Home Shield has sent out two companies, and they don't work on LG Linear refrigerator.

    I called LG. But I'm having the same hassle with LG as I'm having with American Home Shield, trying to get someone to come out here. I explained to American Home Shield that I needed someone specific to LG Linear compressor because that was what the first guy said. The rep said, “It’s the LG Linear compressor, and we don't service that.” So American Home Shield can't help me. I can't get anybody who speaks English as a first language to explain my problem. So I still have no refrigerator.

    American Home Shield needs a much better call service company. I understand foreign call services and the cost, but when these people can't deviate from their script, it's not helpful. I've spent more time dealing with these people trying to get my stuff fixed. I'm ready to just throw my refrigerator away and buy a new one. So I asked the reps, “If you can't fix my refrigerator, what can we do to get a new one?” Again, they couldn't deviate from the script and they didn't know the answer. I asked for a supervisor, but they didn't know. I asked for an English speaking as a first language call center supervisor. The rep said, “Just hang up and call again. And it's the luck of the draw who you get.”

    If I'm living in America, I want American employees. I would expect people that can help me in the language that I'm speaking. When I lived in Germany, I was expected to learn German. I don't want to deal with people that can't deviate from a script. I'm paying for service, and it's not helpful to me. I'm on week four of no refrigerator because they can't deviate from that script, or get me to who can help me. It's taken a lot of my time.

    My blower motor and my condenser went out in the attic, and Cool Line did a great job. The repair guy came in and diagnosed it. He gave me a call, let me know what was going on and went right to work. Everything went well. He verified my other blower motor was okay to make sure and he handed me my receipt and left. So, he did an outstanding job. American Home Shield is a great thing to have. Once you have it, file your paperwork or you can remember to get it. Because I file so infrequently, sometimes it takes me a little longer to figure out where the stuff is. An app that you can load on your phone would make it easier to store that and if they did, maybe I need to get on that. If they don’t, an app would be great for signing in the file claims.

    I was able to get the house rekeyed the day that I closed on it. The only thing that I'm concerned about on that house are it's got an old AC unit and stuff like that. And I just wanted to make sure that if something goes wrong in the first year or so while I'm a little cash poor after making the transaction, that I can handle that. I called American Home Shield and said, “Hey, I see that you guys will rekey the house. Can we do that?” And they took care of everything. And then they scheduled it. The tech just pinged me when he was getting close. Super good job, friendly dude. Changed out the tumblers. He moved the plates a bit around so that I don't have to pull hard or push down the door to get the lock to click. He was very thorough so I appreciated it.

    American Home Shield’s service is very iffy. They have a long hold time when you call them on the phone. This time, the techs came very quickly for the refrigerator. But sometimes, it could take a long time for them to come to do work. The premium is high, too. Then, whenever you call them, it's $100 for someone to come out. Now, apparently, they're giving me a new refrigerator. It was supposed to be delivered today as what I was told. Then, when I called the delivery service to follow up about it, they had no idea who I was. They couldn't find me by name, record, or the confirmation number that I was given. I did some research. It turns out they don't have it in the system until they receive the actual product that's going to be delivered to you. When I called the American Home Shield back, trying to figure everything with that, they told me, “Yeah, that's true.”

    When they told me the refrigerator would come today, that was a week ago, and they said that it was just an estimation. You'll hear from them when it's gonna come. A few months ago, I had trouble with the same refrigerator. They put in a new compressor for it, and the moisture caused a lot of floor damage. A company came and put fans there and dried it out for a week or so. Unfortunately, there was a lot of damage. The floor got replaced, which is actually kind of nice but that was not from American Home Shield. It was from a claim against my home. But now, my premium went up to $2,000 because of that claim. I was told it wasn't going to go up. Now, a few months later, there was a flood in my kitchen again. So, I quickly called American Home Shield, made kind of a thing about it, and they did send a worker the next two business days later.

    He was the grouchiest worker I've ever met in my whole life. It was really crazy. I said, “What are you going to do about it?” He said he was going to make a report. So, I wasn't clear what was going to happen. The next day, I called American Home Shield to find out what happened. They said, “Oh, you're getting a new refrigerator.” I didn't know about it, but they said they sent me an email. But then, when they put me through to the people who do that business of replacing, they said, “Yeah, it's going to be delivered on Friday.” Lo and behold, it really isn't being delivered today.

    In a way, it always seemed like you kind of even out at the end of the day. It's a little bit of a security blanket that if something big happens, they're there for you. So, we're not really sure that it ever pays off. I'm getting a new refrigerator, but I've been paying $100 service fees for many times. American Home Shield is as good as any company. When you call, they're very nice on the phone. They have their people who answer the phone and they're very well-trained to be like, “That must be very frustrating for you that your washing machine is broken. I understand your frustration.” I'm like, “Oh, yeah? You have eight kids? You understand?” But they do their job and it's okay.

    AHS is very good at getting back to you. Anytime we've called, they've given us the name of the company and they set up the appointment. We were without an air conditioner recently and it was the hottest it has been. The tech came out, he knew exactly what it was and fixed it. Although I wish we could have had somebody that could have come out sooner because they gave us somebody that was closed on the weekend. But other than that, AHS has very good service. They were also very polite.

The technician was well informed and knew how to perform his job. Time is always of the essence. The quicker, the better.     American Home Shield has been good to me. I got a question about this bill though because I ended up paying twice when I should have only had to pay once. The tech had already been out to put the valve on the gas thing and I didn't know that he was the one who was supposed to do the shut-off valve for the stove. So, the stove and the gas shut-off valves should have been done at the same time. Still, people should get a home warranty because it comes in handy as something is always going on with the appliances. If it wasn’t for American Home Shield, I would be out of pocket a lot of money.

    We had a leak in the bathroom faucet. It was relatively easy this time to put the claim in to American Home Shield. The tech who came was very professional. He listened and explained stuff to us. I was really satisfied with him. This is his second time coming out for different leaks, and he worked efficiently. He worked fast, cleaned up after himself, and he was very amenable and very professional.

    One of the advantages of having the warranty is I don't have to look around for a service provider. AHS does it for me, and I'm satisfied with who they find. When we had a leak with our refrigerator and some electrical problem, they had to send three different technicians out. Finally, we got the one they sent out from Sears, and he finally fixed it. One problem I have, though, is sometimes, we'll get somebody with a heavy accent when we call in to AHS, and it’s hard to understand or communicate with this person. It happens all the time.

    I told American Home Shield that the provider that we ended up going with is more of a local provider, and they've done service for me before, but AHS insisted on going with someone closer to the vacation home down in Rockport. That didn't go so well. The people down there misdiagnosed the deal. We had to go through three service providers before we finally got the one that we needed. They got down there and got the issue fixed. The provider that I used work for American Home Shield and I'd like to be able to do that in the future, knowing that it's someone that's reputable and gonna get it done. I've had some issues with American Home Shield of late on trying to get stuff done. The providers seemed to be a long distance away from where I am, but I’d still recommend the product.

    AHS could be better. But for the most part, I like their service. They’ve come out and fixed things when I've called about them and gotten stuff done. But they assign whoever's going to do the work and some places don't have a good response time. Then, you have to call back to American Shield and have American Home Shield step in and do something. A couple of people, especially the plumbing people, when we had them come by, we had to call to see if they were going to schedule the appointment. We had to wait for until the work is assigned and even when the techs were coming, some of them had voicemail and they didn't have good contact numbers where you could call them. So I've had to call back to American Home Shield.

    I also have a case that's still open right now because the techs came out to fix the icemaker of my refrigerator and they put in the new part. But it's still having the same problem leaking the water. And I couldn't just call the company and tell them that it isn't working. I had to call back to American Home Shield and have them open back up the case. So right now, I'm waiting for the company to call me back to tell me what they're going to do.

    Other than that, when you call and submit the claim with AHS, they take your money upfront then they assign somebody and you have to wait until that company calls back. It’s not immediate. One time, I had some techs out from the Appliance Network and they were pretty good. I was given their number and I called them, then they scheduled an appointment with me right there. But it's not the same with the plumbing people. AHS needs to improve on some of the processes and they should look into these companies, especially if you're telling them that they don't have good response times. I looked up the person that they gave me for the plumbing and they had some bad reviews on there. So American Home Shield shouldn’t even partner with people like that.

    We had a prior company come out. We've had some issues stating that we needed work done that I don't necessarily think that was needed. We were receiving conflicting information from the company. So, K & W Heating and Air came out. The tech was very patient. Because I was really frustrated about where I was at, given what had happened with the other company. He walked through everything that I had questions written down and looked at the units outside and upstairs. It really was a good experience. I was really happy that he came.

    However, we have used American Home Shield for our refrigerator and our microwave and both situations were not positive. I was hesitant to have the air conditioning people come out because it seemed like the quality of the people that were coming was like the bottom of the barrel. The microwave guy didn't fix the microwave. He left parts on the floor when he left, which we didn't realize until after he left. The refrigerator guy made me pay money out of pocket to do something to fix it that wasn't even correct and ended up getting the money reimbursed. But the guy was horrible. I would never work with that company again.

    More than anything, there are monetary benefits to having a warranty. If something breaks, AHS is good about coming out and fixing it. My AC was going out and the repair company put in some Freon with some dye in it. They thought that was gonna solve it, but it didn't. They still have to come back out.

    When I would open the door to the dryer, it wouldn't stop spinning. Richard's Appliance Repair came and I told them the problem. They said it was the clicker and they had one in their truck. They got it, came back, replaced it, and tested the dryer before they left. They had their masks on and those little booties on their feet so they wouldn't track in mud. Overall, American Home Shield is excellent. I would tell others to join.

    The vendors are very professional. They come and ask what the problem is and look for it. Because I'm older, I do sometimes get the attitude that, “You're just an old lady and you don't know what you're talking about.” They don't say that. With my most recent appliance issue, the tech turned on the machine. The leak was a little hard to find because it wasn't obvious. It wasn't the plumbing. He had ran the dishwasher for about 15 minutes and no leaks showed up.

    Finally, I said, “I wonder if it's a gasket,” and he did listen to me. He did go in, turned it back on and looked at the machine. In the front door, they're not gaskets but they’re little plastic or silicone kind of flap that is right in the corner of the door. When you close the door and the gasket seals, it helps to keep the water from coming out. He was sitting there, watching and said, “I see some drips.” That apparently was the problem and he replaced that. There's a similar thing that goes all the way across the bottom of the door and he replaced that too. We've ran it twice since then and everything seems to be fine.

    I've told people about American Home Shield. It's a good idea particularly for someone in my situation because I don't have a family member that can repair those things. I have American Home Shield who can get the vendor here and if there is an issue, they work with the vendor or let them know so that it can get fixed. In the long run, it probably does save me some money because I don't have to worry about who to call. I've also had American Home Shield when I lived in Wichita Falls. When I called them then, everything worked out fine. Sometimes, like with an air conditioner or a big appliance, it would take the serviceman about three or four times to finally get the problem resolved. But they always came and get it done. Most of the time, they get here pretty promptly.

    There was one tech that was a little rude but we got that resolved. We had a faucet in the bathroom that was leaking. He came out and looked at it. He said he fixed it but he didn't. When I would question him about what he did, he would kind of give a smart** answer. I called and talked to a nice young lady. She said she had to send the same vendor out. The tech came out and the second time he came, everything went fine. He did finally get the problem fixed. But he had seen that I had turned in the evaluation that was a little critical of him before so when he got here, he said, “I'm not going to come in if you don't want me around.” I told him we were fine and he did finally come on in.

    The freezer was making a humming sound and we noticed some ice particles that needed to be defrosted. We wanted to make sure that was all that was the issue so I called in a claim for someone to come out and check it out to make sure the motor wasn't going bad. The process was pretty easy and it was voice automated. But I wish I had known that American Home Shield was 24/7 because I waited till Monday morning. We discovered the problem on Sunday evening.

    American Home Shield gave me the name of the contracted company and their phone number. I was glad I received that because I called to ask them what day they would be coming and scheduled the time with the person when I called him. The contractor was professional.     Recently, I had a bad receptacle and there was a switch with it. My garbage disposal wouldn't work without it because it's connected. I put in a request through the online platform and it seemed a little faster. Everything was great, and the electric guy was fast and very good. I would recommend American Home Shield. Their service has really saved me a lot of money and repairs over the years that I've had it. There are also things that AHS is improving on, so they're getting better with the service part of it. I've had some issues in the past with a few things, but it's the contractors more so than American Home Shield's issues.     Our AC was not kicking on, so I called American Home Shield and they put me through to Lemanski. It is a horrible company. I couldn't get ahold of them. I left two messages and they never called me the next day. Home Shield tried calling them the next day as well. They were a royal pain in the butt. I then got Family Heating and they talked to me all the way through. There was an electronic part blown on my unit, so they replaced it. They even hooked up a thermostat for me. On top of that, they went outside and cleaned my AC compressor. There was a part on it that was blown so they fixed that too.

    The guys from Family Heating even looked at my furnace for other stuff and answered a few questions I had about it. They told me my one part that I had a question about was completely shot. As a handyman, I knew they weren't lying and trying to scam me. They were very nice and helpful. Next time I call in, I'm going to tell Home Shield I want to stay with Family Heating and Air. I recommend Home Shield over the other companies to most of our friends at work that check into home warranty companies. They're a little picky here and there on what they fix, but overall, they're fantastic.

    A contractor came out two times. The first time, they said it was something fixable so they fixed it. But the unit was not working so we called them back. They said a part was something they had to replace and I had to pay for the replacement part. It was about a couple $100. They were giving me a whole different story all the time and I don't know which one is right, which one is wrong. I ended up having to pay out of my pocket. I thought it was all covered but American Home Shield only covers certain amount.

    All of the technicians that have come out were great. My problem is trying to reach American Home Shield. They have commissioned with a company in the Philippines, and there are some language challenges, not in terms of the words but comprehension. When I first called in, I was on the call with the person for an hour and 45 minutes to request service. He kept apologizing, and saying, “Can you hold on?” Then he would check with somebody and then come back. It was absolutely awful. I finally had to ask for a supervisor or managers available that I can talk to. I said, “Is there somebody else that I can talk to?” I asked the supervisor, “Is there somebody in the United States that I can talk to with American Home Shield?” She said, “We have no contact with them.” That is totally unacceptable. When they put in the order, as it turned out, it wasn’t right.

    The technicians and the contractors were good. The first guy that came out was from GE. He did my GE refrigerator. The way the guy made his thing when he put in the order was that one person would be coming out to service my needs. I tried to get the most out of my $75. I don't call them often to pay my bill every month, and I tried to get the most. With COVID being last year, I didn't let anybody in my house. When he came out, he was good. He did the refrigerator only. I said, “What about my other products?” He said, “This claim was only for your GE refrigerator.” I said, “What about at least my GE washer?” He couldn’t do that.

    He said he can only do the GE refrigerator because that’s all that was written on that claim. So, I called back. They said, “Oh, the person didn’t write the order up right.” They apologized. The order was resubmitted. GE came back. Guess what? The same person that had been here for the refrigerator did the washing machine. He said, “Because that’s how they wrote the order.” It’s good I’m retired because if I was taking off for these service people to be coming in, that would be problematic. My husband refuses to deal with American Home Shield. I have American Home Shield on my daughter's house also. He says American Home Shield sucks. He does not like it. In my sister’s house, American Home Shield is awful. However, we haven't found a replacement, but we're looking.

    If another company comes up and it looks like they provide the service that American Home Shield professes, I’ll be gone. I used to use Sears because Sears used to cover all the products. But Sears' service was awful. If you’d have something scheduled, they'd call back and say, “We’re gonna have to reschedule. We’re gonna have to reschedule.” I’ve been with Sears, and American Home Shield was the replacement. I’ve had them a long time. Overall, I like the service, I don't like how I get the service. I really hope they would get better, and I hope they would listen.

    The claim submission process can be a little difficult sometimes. Sometimes you have to have a nice extra cup of patience. It takes a while to get through quite a bit. I had a big problem last year, I put two issues on one claim and AHS got it all screwed up. It took all summer to get it fixed. That was a bad situation so that was quite frustrating. They need to get a system or something that their customers can get through faster on. We're already having problems with whatever we need fixing. Just the whole communication process could use improvement, whether it be getting more people or more lines to get through to their company or just better communication, especially when there's a situation going on that's taking a while to get fixed. They don't really do follow-up calls too well.

    I used to have First American and they're a lot better than my experiences with my current warranty. But I'm a lot happier with American Home Shield overall. They're not too bad once I get through. They take care of stuff. Homeowners just need to be aware that they may have to do a little extra to stay on top of their situation to make sure things get taken care of. Despite the issues, it's a pretty good company. Everything has been followed through as they advertise their service to be. I recently had a problem with my pool pump. The tech came over and diagnosed it then he had the replacement within the next day. He was in and out and got the job done. He's actually coming back again for my filter. It was a great experience.

    I super love American Home Shield. It's been super helpful for us on multiple occasions now. When our garage door opener busted, we had a very nice gentleman that came out and fixed it up for us.     AHS sent another company that they were contracted with and they didn’t do anything. They came after 9:30 at night and there were no markings on their car to identify themselves. It just so happened that a lady out of Augusta called me and said the contractor would be there but when they showed up, I didn’t know. They came in and were not professional at all. They took something out of my dishwasher and said they would be back to call me when the part came in but I never heard from them. I waited and waited. They didn’t even suction the water out of my dishwasher.

    I called American Home Shield and requested that they replace them with someone else. They sent me Appliance Professional who came out this week to repair my dishwasher. They did a great job. However, I received a bill for $100 which I shouldn't have because I always have to pay before the repairman comes out. American Home Shield is billing me for Appliance Professional and I shouldn’t be billed.

    For one instance, I had to call American Home Shield seven times to get something done. They kept sending a company out and after the seventh time, I refused to let them come back out again. It was air conditioning issues, and it was hot. I wasn’t happy with them sending someone who did not do what they needed to do out seven times. There have also been times when I’ve held American Home Shield for an hour and a half to two hours, waiting for someone to answer my call. I am really considering switching companies.

    One of the air conditioners was leaking from the central unit in my basement, leaking water into the overflow pan at the bottom and cutting off the float switch. A tech came out to address that. He diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes and had the parts on his truck. Within 45 minutes, I was up and running.

    Suffolk Appliance Parts had been out for our washer four times. They had to order a piece and then it didn't work. They also had to come when it didn't pump out. They fixed a little something on the side, then it worked for them. But then when we washed clothes, it didn't pump again. We had to take the clothes out, wring them out, and hang them on the line without being washed.

    Then one day, we had washed clothes and put them in the dryer. The dryer didn't work. A different technician came out, not from Suffolk. He said we needed a switch when closing the door, so it would work. But that switch is not yet installed. Either the technicians didn't do a good job, or the machine needed to be worked. It's very tricky, one of those computerized crappy machines. We’re okay with American Home Shield and there are benefits the majority of the time. But what it is, some of the time, the people that come out don't find anything wrong and we pay them $100 each time. That's what we're concerned about.

    I had an issue with the garage door opener. Someone came out and it was a fantastic experience. The guy didn't take very long and the improvement after the repair is outstanding. I punched a button the other day and I thought it wasn't doing anything. The garage door was so quiet. I'm a happy camper with American Home Shield. I'd tell others that the home warranty is worth it and to get it unless they are buying new construction. I would also advise that if they have something that's going wrong, they should read the fine print of what is not covered. There are some things that I would think would be covered that aren't.

    The people from AHS that I speak with are very nice. I'm just having a terrible time getting a contractor out here. It's been over a week and I have a water leak. I have talked to six people from AHS and I know they're doing their best, they're very helpful, but I keep getting a promise that I'm going to hear something in 24 hours and it's expedited. The first plumber came out and he said, “We have to get a different plumber here. It's not a water heater, you have a water leak somewhere in the house. Hopefully, it's in the garage.” So I had to wait a week, which would have been the 6th of July because of the holiday. Unfortunately, that contractor cancelled due to a family emergency.

    The problem was he said he’d be here between 8:30 and 12:30. I put my whole morning on hold and by 12:30, nobody was here. I had to call that company. Then they tried to get another plumber but they were not able to accommodate me within a week. So I've called American Home Shield every day. I just need somebody to get here. I did customer service for years. I don't understand every time I get on the phone, I have to give the whole spiel all over again. I don't understand how they can’t pull the computer up and they should know where I'm at. They should be able to pull it up and say, “Here's the deal. I can see this happened and this happened. I’m on it.”

    My concern is I have American Home Shield because I bought this house last July 15th. So this is only good until July 15th. I hope I'm not being postponed and they say to me, “You don't have any coverage anymore.” On top of that, I don't even know at this point. Because they're gonna have to jackhammer this cement slab to find out where the pipe is. I don't even know if this is covered with American Home Shield. I don't know if I'm wasting my time and nobody can give me an answer on that.

    We like American Home Shield's services for the most part. Master Tech Appliance Care came out for the dryer and the tech knew exactly what was wrong before he got here. I sent them a video so they knew what was wrong and then, he came with a belt and a pulley. It went very well. But we're kind of going through some things with the oven. They wanted to do a cash option for like $250 to get a new double oven and that wasn't going to work. We had to send off the part to get fixed. That was kind of frustrating.

    We're also going through some things with an exhaust vent. I would rather Home Shield just find the replacement and send somebody out to put it in. I called the guys that have been working on it and the guy said it was out of their hands and I gotta call Home Shield and have them send somebody out to install it. But overall, we're pretty happy with the services. I'd tell others to get it because you save quite a bit of money in repair bills when things break.

    My niece introduced me to American Home Shield. She said she was doing it with the rentals in her house and told me it was good. And I said, “Well in my condition, I can't do anything anymore.” And what I have had, because I was the kind of person that fixed and did stuff, I have lots of friends I can call all the time. But I'm 66. I'm handicapped. I need somebody who can do it, and do it now. And that's when I said, “Well, if I can afford that, we’ll go American Home Shield.”

    AHS made arrangements. I got emails that said On Time was my contractor. Shortly after I got the email, they said that they would give me a call and said that they didn’t have anybody for that week. And it wasn’t gonna be until Monday when they would arrive. They then called early in the morning and gave me a heads up that the tech was on the way, who then arrived on time. I met him at the back door, showed him where the thing was at, and he checked it all out. He knew what they were doing. He decided that because it was the easiest way, he cut the line and put in a cleanout, and cleaned it out, fixed the line back. So now, if it gets clogged again, all we got to do is take the cap off the cleanout. I'm happy.

    I had a hot water heater go out. Come to find out it wasn't covered. And not only that, I had to buy a hot water heater from one of the guys that came in to look at it in order for them to have a warranty on it. Because they said that American Home Shield did not cover the size that was in there. It said it covers the hot water heater, but mine wasn't covered. I had to buy the hot water heater myself. And as far as I know, AHS is not going to service it or have anything to do with it whatsoever now. I don't know why. I don't know if they will replace it if something happens to it or not, since I bought it. All I know is I paid $1,000 for the hot water heater out of my pocket. And they turned around and sent me $522, saying that they were sorry. And then I had to pay $750 to have it installed. So, it was quite an expense for me just having moved in here seven months prior at the time.

    I had one other one claim, which was the garage. The contractor came out and fixed the gear inside. It works now. Unless it falls apart because it wasn't replaced with a new one. If it does, that will be another $100. I also had a garbage disposal that had a hole in it for some unknown reason. A big hole just came in it, so we had to replace that one. That was great. That guy did great.

    I've utilized American Home Shield for a dishwasher and some minor plumbing issues. I've also taken advantage of the special for the annual tune-up for my central air and heating system. The very last thing that happened, which was a lifesaver, was my AC went out and found out that my central air system needed a compressor. I liked the tech that was sent out. He came right in, assessed the situation and did the job. It took him less than 30 minutes to deal with the problem. My only complaint about that is I had used American Home Shield for the special for the tune-up three months prior. If the compressor was that bad, I’m not sure why it wasn’t discovered three months ago by the service provider that did the tune-up.

    The service has been good and I like it but I'm a little concerned about the expense. It went up again on me so it's getting to be kind of expensive. When I originally got the policy, it was 36.99 a month. Then every year, it's gone up. Now, I've increased the coverage but even after I did that, the cost has gone up. I'm now paying 62 or something a month.

    American Home Shield has no option for an emergency, which is one thing I don’t like. Recently, our hot water tank blew up and I did not know how to shut off the water to it. I was trying to get a claim submitted and let AHS know it was urgent, and I was on hold for 45 minutes. I ended up calling the contractor directly which AHS doesn’t want you to do. But I needed somebody. ARM Mechanicals, the contractor, came out and they were great and wonderful. The guy was here within 20 minutes.

    Our air conditioner wasn't working about a year after we got here. AHS gave me a hard time about that because the people they kept sending out weren't fixing the problem. Then, they didn’t want to send new technicians. So, it was a mess. But all in all, I've had good experiences and that was the only bad experience I've had. I recommend AHS. It’s a one-time fee and everything is fixed as long as it's something that they cover.

    I called American Home Shield and had them send the contractor out. And I paid the $75. After I went online, AHS told me who my contractor was and that they should call me within 24 hours because it happened on a weekend. I knew I wouldn't get a call until Monday or so. But I had the information. I wound up calling them so I knew right after I made the appointment who they assigned it to and the information for it. The tech came, I told him what the issue was, he did what he needed to do, and within 45 minutes, he was finished. He had to switch out one of the breaker pieces because it had blown out. The bathroom switch caused one of the breakers to blow. My lighting in three of my rooms in the back part of my house would not cut back on, so he had to switch that out. I have power and I have no more problems with that switch.

    My washing machine just quit working, and it's a fairly new washer. American Home Shield assigned us a provider. They were at us really quickly. They had to order a part, which meant I had to wait like a week for it. But they contacted me when the part was ordered and when it was supposed to come. It came when they thought it would. The tech was out here and he fixed the whole thing in probably 20 minutes.

    Every claim I have ever had with American Home Shield has been just like that except for one issue I had with my pool. They told us just to keep clear, and an eye on the drain pan on the thing, showed us where the float was, and we just said, “Now we know that when the thing builds up with water and it’s plugged for whatever reason, the thing turns off.” American Home Shield gives us service right away.     My washer has been broken for three weeks and the guy is just getting to it today.     Usually, American Home Shield is not easy to deal with. This time, they got the refrigerator fixed, but it took two months to fix it. I understand that some parts are hard to get. But they didn't communicate with us. Sometimes we almost don't wanna call them because the process with them is not easy. It’s hard to get through. And then you wanna find out what's going on, it’s hard to get back with them. When my wife called back to find out about where it was, they wanted to charge her again for it. And she finally just got off the phone with them.

    It worked out okay this time, but it's also the second time this refrigerator had to be fixed. The tech explained it to us. It was more of the refrigerator make than anything. Maybe they were just using COVID as an excuse that the parts were slow to get and the tech had a hard time. But I would’ve thought that the young man that was working on it for us would have communicated with us a bit better, but he didn't. So, we had to call him. But we couldn't get ahold of him for a while. I wish we could get rid of AHS. We've used them a number of times, and most of the time there is always something about them that irritates us.

    The thing about the website is it doesn't give an option to put the details. It just has a dropdown box that only lists specific things and there's no textbox to where I can add what's actually going on. But then, I pay the premium per month and even with the $75 charge for the call, it's so worth it. I have an older home, so things are going to naturally start breaking. It's a relief to have that maintenance to where it may come out of pocket, but it's not going to be as extreme as it was if I was just calling on my own.     We had to have Complete out a couple times because I think that it was more economical to try to fix the problem than to replace the unit. I admire their tenacity. On our end, it was a little frustrating, but the techs were nice and kept trying things until they finally just threw their hands up and said, “Yeah, you need a new model.” I feel like the technician was super kind and patient. His boss was kind of like, “Come on, people. Stop calling me.” In a service industry, there has to be a little bit of frustration when things aren't going well. But I would recommend that company, especially that technician, if somebody had trouble.

    We are switching my dad's home policy from a policy he has with another company over to AHS. AHS has done a far better job of being able to answer the phone much more quickly than in the past, and that's awesome. Now, they're more responsive in answering the phone. In the past, sometimes, it could take me anywhere from 20 minutes to 50 minutes to get connected with someone. But recently, it's been less than 10. There's something that used to be on the website that I wish would come back though. There used to be a chat button. When you're on the phone, trying to call people or you're on their website, instead of emailing them, you can chat with them. I like that because we have a favorite appliance repair person. And whenever I have an appliance repair, we really want this one company. So, I can't necessarily just call in and request service. I have to call in and wait to talk to somebody so I can request them.

    The AC unit which is an older unit wasn't cooling. Best Care Home Services came out and did a very good job. They were much better than Green Way. I will expect Best Care every time I do it now. But American Home Shield is very disappointing in how they communicate. I call and get someone in the Philippines. I am not satisfied with what they're telling me because I know that there are other options that I can get to. When I ask for a supervisor or someone in the United States, they would not give me the answer. They would not transfer me to anyone in the United States. It's dead air every time I call. That's very disappointing which will likely lead me to not renew with American Home Shield. Customer service does not get escalated when there's an issue and I would definitely tell everyone that.

    The middle burners of my stovetop were not working. Fleming Appliance Repair came three days after I was assigned to them. When the tech came, the burners were working perfectly. He said that happens sometimes with the kind of stovetop I have. When I clean them or if something spills, they get a little wet and they won't turn on. They dry off and they continue to turn on and not turn on. But because it's a circuit of six burners, you cannot detect where the problem is until it doesn't turn on permanently. He then opened the stovetop to see if there was something he could do there but everything seemed normal. He was very careful to check everything. He was courteous and knowledgeable.

    So far, we've been satisfied with American Home Shield. However, I have a pending claim on my 11-year-old washer. The parts were not available so I claimed for a cash option by email to buy my washer and I got a reply saying that I'll get that in three to four weeks. But I haven't heard from AHS. Three weeks have gone by and I would really appreciate it if they would send a follow-up email.

    My washer been giving my clothes oil stains. It started six months ago. I would notice oil stains here and there. She's 12, but I have a kid that sometimes waste a little too much food on her clothes. So I just assumed it might have been food. But over the months, I would notice that it went from being on one or two clothes to being on all of the clothes. It was getting worse. So I put in a claim and the contractor came out. But he just looked and said he didn't see anything. He said normally, when it’s oil situation, it’s from a top loader, but I have a front loader. He gave me a tip on how I can fix the issue. He told me to buy Washer Magic, which is a tub cleaner. Because before that, I was only cleaning the tub with water. I have a tub clean option. So he told me to buy a tub cleaner, and make that clean my machine every two weeks and that should clear up the problem. But I've been doing that and there has been no change at all.

    I'm literally throwing clothes away every time I wash. Depending on the color, I can get away with because you can't see the oil as bad. But light stuff, I can't keep anymore. It looks like you're putting on a dirty shirt. When he left, I told my mom. I said, “I can't believe I just called a washer out here just to tell me to clean my machine, that I wasn't cleaning my machine with a product.” So I was embarrassed that the issue was just that I wasn't cleaning my washer properly. But he was very kind.

    I’ve only called American Home Shield twice and within a few days, got a call from the company to schedule an appointment. That issue not working wouldn't stop me from recommending AHS to anyone. My experience is worry-less. I’ve only had the service twice, one with GE and another was with an electrician. And both times, it was a professional experience. They were timely. I've had timeframes with other companies that never made the timeframe. I would just have to plan of being in the house all day because no matter what timeframe they gave me, they never came. But when AHS contractors give me a timeframe, not only do they come, but they would text me along the way. Letting me know, “Okay, you're my next house.” So I would be like, “Okay, let me get prepared. They coming to me next.”

    We called about our air conditioner last year. The repair company put some Freon in it and it's been working since. Recently, my original hot water heater went out, so I had to order another one. I had to pay for the shipping. I live in a small town and because of the virus, there wasn't any in town. It was also a different tank because the old tank was 30 years old. They had to do a minor replumbing, and I had to pay for that as well, so I wasn't happy. Things that I expected to be covered weren't covered. Apart from that, the plumber was excellent.

    When I turn on the hot water, it goes from scalding hot to lukewarm to cold in just a few seconds. The gentleman from Service One Plumbing that came out said that there should be some cut-off valve in the way the plumbing comes off in the hot water tank to the furnace and he couldn't fix it. He said that they were gonna have to get an air conditioner guy in there. I have been on the phone back and forth with AHS several times and it's been going on for about two weeks. I talked to them on Friday and they said to give them 24 hours and they would have a contractor assigned. But that being the weekend, I figured I'd wait until today to see if they contact me. I still don't have hot water.

    Also, when I first moved in, the air conditioner didn't work. AHS's contractor came out and looked at it and they said it was pre-existing. But it was all inspected and signed off by inspectors. AHS did not cover it and I had to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. There's a lot of things I've had to pay money out, including the AC and the exhaust fans in the bathrooms that didn't work.

    The air conditioning was not working. I called American Home Shield and it was quite a pain in the butt. There were too many automated messages and it took too long to get somebody on the phone to help me out. I wish it were easier to be in touch with them on the phone. American Home Shield sent me a text message and an email with the information of the company and the technician that was coming out. The technician came and did his own diagnostics. It seemed like he was in a rush. I said, "If you want, I'll go turn the AC on and you can hear this noise it's been making." His response was, "That'll take five minutes." He didn't wanna wait so he just replaced the capacitor and left. The AC stopped working again two days later and hasn't been working since. The technician came out again yesterday and was there for five minutes. He said it was an electrical issue and I needed to have an electrician look at it.

    It would be nicer if it was easier and quicker to get in touch with somebody that you could talk to in person at American Home Shield. When making a claim, you have to go through some prompts. Because this was the second time for the AC claim, I had to go through the whole thing all over again. The process took a lot longer and there wasn't an option to open up the same service. When I got somebody, I said it was for the same service call as before and not a new one. Other than that, my experience has been good for the most part.

    When I set up for someone to come out, I went through the online service. However, I wind up having to call in, because online, it wouldn't allow me to request service at all. When I called in, they went ahead and set up for a plumber to come out. But then, I waited all day for the technician and then I wind up calling to find out what time he would be coming because he had never contacted me. Their system was stating there was no service call for me. So I had to call back to American Home Shield and find out what was going on with that. That was exhausting to say the least. But I haven’t had any issues prior to that with the service itself.

    Recently, there was another leak in my house, and they sent the plumber out. They moved pretty quickly. The plumbing company was on time and very professional. I liked them. They couldn’t find the leak so they had to send someone else out to get a moisture test done. The people came out today to do that and then they have to report that back to the plumber so that they can find the leak. I’m a little annoyed with the whole process right now. I still have a leak and it’s damaging my ceiling.

    J.G. Services came out five times for my claim. The first time, the tech couldn't get the air conditioning unit free so he could look at it. There was a tree that grew around it and it held it there. He couldn’t get to the back so I ended up having to get the tree removed. Then he came back out and said that the motor blew out. He would bring one back if it had one in their warehouse. If not, he had to order it. So then, it took another four or five days and another tech came out and said that it won't fit and that the first guy didn't measure the door right. He couldn't find the part. But he tried everything, even going over the gate, so I really appreciated this last guy. Everything's fine now since he put a new one in. I would recommend AHS because I had a neighbor asked me what home insurance I have.

    The dryer blew up. We were sitting in the living room and we heard this thud and a bang and the lights flickered, and then the dryer stopped. We went over and there was smoke coming out of the dryer. We quickly opened it, and vented the house. Did the online for American Home Shield. And then, the guy came. After all of that, all it was was a wire had came loose and shorted out on the body of the dryer. So, the tech replaced that and some other piece in there that had been blown apart. And then it worked. It was that simple.

    It's reassuring just to be able to call and know that somebody will be there within a couple of days. The item will either be fixed or replaced. We had a dishwasher replaced two years ago. It could be fixed, but it was going to be way too expensive. So, we ended up getting a brand-new dishwasher. So, just that comfort reassurance level that is going to be taken care of.

    I had a plumbing issue and Prime Plumbing was excellent. I had a ceiling fan issue going on as well and my experience with that was good. But they bought the wrong fan, so now I'm just waiting for another phone call from that company to figure out when they are going to put me on the schedule to come back out and do it. Also, there were two ceiling fans that weren't operating correctly and in the midst of the technician going back to get the right fan, I called American Home Shield. I told them that I also have a second fan going out, but that one couldn't be put back on the ticket and I don't understand why. So, I'm going to have a technician come back out to my home to replace a fan that should have been replaced and I'm still not going to be able to get my other fan done within that.     On May 19th, I put in a service request for a washing machine that wasn't working. American Home Shield sent a repairman out. He said it was the timer and he would have to order the part from A&E, which I found out is associated with Sears. Every time I called them, they said the part’s still on backorder. I have communicated with American Home Shield and I've got pages of notes that I've taken from talking to different agents. I understand that the part’s on backorder, but I would like to know how long they're gonna just keep saying, “Well, we're following up.” I'm following up too, but it's not getting anything done. They said that they've tried to contract A&E, which I called them too and just get a recording that the part’s still on backorder.

    On the 7th, I spoke with Kelly, an agent with AHS. She said that she would try to contact the authorization department and see if they could speed things up or if they would go ahead and replace the washer since the part is not available. I didn't get a callback from her. I spoke with Christine this morning. She said that she would attempt to contact the authorization department and call me back, which she did. She said she was on hold for an hour with the authorization department so she said she would send them an email and that she would get back with me either by phone or by email.

    The agents that I've spoken with are very pleasant and they're doing the best they can, but all they can do is pass messages along. I'm very disappointed in American Home Shield and I'm seriously thinking about canceling my membership with them. I've been with them for quite a few years, but there are other home warranty companies out there.

    Bencraft Mechanical was awesome. They were very nice and got my AC unit in as soon as they could. They even lent me a cooler for one room until they could get my AC installed. But, American Home Shield, they took forever. The AC went out on the weekend and they didn't have any people that they could get out here. I know there are people that come out on weekends because I've had them before. Then it was a holiday, so they couldn't have anybody out either. Then, they were so backed up. It took another week and a half to get the part in. So, I was without an air conditioner for two and a half weeks. AHS could have had somebody that they used for emergencies come out. I've had trouble with them too before on other things.

    We're almost to where as though this policy is paid for the year because of the different things that we’re finding. We noticed that some things were not included which we ended up having to pay extra money in order to have it covered. Our microwave blew out. I tried to get it covered and when the lady added it, it dropped off our pool. She wanted me to pay another $256 to add the pool back. That didn't make sense to me bcause not only did I have to pay 256, but then I would have to pay $100 for the service call. I told her that she should have given me all that information ahead of time before she did that, so I had to get her to revert it back. Then when I got paid, I had to turn around and add the additional. The original policy was 786. It then went up to 1,000 or something when I added it so I had to pay extra.

    Right now, there's a claim that AHS referred for our garage. The company that came out was the electrician and he referred it back out. The service call is still open, but nobody has called to say that this is the company and this is when they're gonna come out. The only way I knew that it was sent back out to another company is I looked online. But the technicians were good when they came.

    I've used American Home Shield for several homes and I've never had a problem before. They've always been really good so I'm really surprised with what happened when they came to do my air conditioning. The unit wasn't working. The contractor came and checked the electrical and this and that but they didn't fix it. They did send out a very knowledgeable and professional person. He said it needed Freon and it was $129 a unit. Unfortunately, the warranty only paid $10 a unit so it would be at least $300. I was really disappointed.

    Also, there was a leak inside and there was a part that the repairman had ordered. He said he would just let me know. He also said he has families around here that have been waiting for months on American Home Shield for the same thing. They're really good about fixing or replacing things but not this time. And they've never bothered to call me back. I just moved to Indiana and it's unbelievably hot. That was very poor customer service. But I'm still waiting to see if they will even reach out and make some effort.

    We filed the original claim back in June and we were denied. Family Solutions was a second opinion and we're still waiting for American Home Shield to approve them to fix it because my evap coil is leaking. I knew when the first people came out that the evaporation coil was leaking. There was no freon in my AC system and it's a closed system. American Home Shield has been terrible. Total Air Care and Family Solutions were great up until Total Air Care tried to tell American Home Shield that it was due to preexisting conditions which is complete **. A leaky evaporation coil can't be due to preexisting conditions because it only happens over time. The unit is 20 years old. It went in in 2005 when the house was built. It's an R-22. They don't even make them anymore. It's an 8 SEER system and federal regulation is 14 SEER.

    American Home Shield's customer service has been awful. My husband called them five times one day. Half the time, he couldn't get somebody that either understands him or he understands. We were supposed to have a supervisor call us because we weren't getting any answers. Family Solutions was saying we've been denied but American Home Shield is saying it's in final approval to get fixed. We're wondering what is going on but we can't get answers from anyone. We never get a phone call from anybody and my husband has to call them all the time. It was the second week of June when we called and we haven't had AC since then. We're right on the water and that's the worst part because it's so humid. We've got some portable fans going in the house and three portable AC units that we had to borrow from friends and family to try and keep our house relatively comfortable.

    We had a policy previously when we bought the home. We didn't renew it because they were terrible when we tried to get a toilet fixed. We had to get a second opinion for that. We just got a new policy this year because we knew that we might end up needing it so this is our second policy with American Home Shield. We got it before the summertime came in and if I can't get my AC unit fixed, they're gonna be refunding me my $700 that we paid for their platinum plan so I can then buy an AC unit out of pocket. That is going to cost me upwards of 10 grand because they don't want to replace a $2,000 or $3,000 evaporation coil to get a 20-year-old unit to work.

    I did the claim online, so it was super-fast. I like that a lot better than calling in ‘cause it was nice to just get it in and not have to be on hold. I then got an email and the guy was here within the 48-hour window. He was here before he was even expected, walked me through the whole thing, and answered all my questions. He was super sweet, very kind and courteous. I'm gonna request him whenever we have something else go down ‘cause he was amazing.

    On the other hand, our refrigerator went out, and the guy that was here said, “Okay. I sent in the order. You should have the email within 48 hours.” I said, “Okay. Cool.” He walked me through what we’d do. American Home Shield sent an email and said, “Hey, we’re gonna give you $1,100, or here's some refrigerators you could pick from.” The first refrigerator on the list was a side-by-side, which didn't look anything like our fridge, and it was out of stock. There are only five on the list and the next four refrigerators were like dorm refrigerators, which were not gonna work. That was disappointing.

    We called in and the first gal was like, “Well, I'm sorry. That's just the way it is.” We said, “What? That cannot be right.” She transferred us to somebody else and then they ended up transferring us to cash in lieu. We got Monique and she was amazing. We talked to her and I said, “I'm not asking for anything crazy. The fridge is dead. And we would like a replacement, just equal.” She said, “Yeah.” Even she didn't understand why we got that email. At that point, we ended up getting a replacement. She totally rectified the disappointing part. That was a nice thing.

    The unit had no Freon left. It was just blowing hot air, kept running constantly. I called it in. And within 24 hours, Alltech called me and said that they were assigned to the claim. Sure enough, they came out and addressed the situation. At first, we thought the coil was leaking. But the tech determined it was not the coil. It was actually where you put your gauges on, the little valves were leaking. So they replaced those valves, put Stop Leak in the system, and had to add Freon.They were very professional. We were very pleased with them. The ac is running fine. Just this morning, I told my wife she keeps it like an iceberg in the house.

    Being this is the first claim, it was simple and cheap. We paid the $100 up front, and then the only other thing we had to pay for on this situation was the Freon. The tech had to add four pounds, so we had to pay for that. If we have anything else, like refrigerators or water heaters, we’re gonna pay the one-time fee, and American Home Shield will either fix it or replace it for that fee. That's reassuring. We don't have to keep thousands of dollars in savings account just for home appliances.

    My water heater started leaking and then it went out. I called American Home Shield and the contractor was out the very next morning. The tech was really friendly and nice. It was a good experience. So far, American Home Shield has been really quick, except when it's something they can't get. When our washer and dryer went out, it took about two and a half weeks to get the part because it was fairly old. They got it fixed, but we didn't have any washer for a while. Overall, American Home Shield has done very well with me.

    A contractor came out five years in a row and just kept adding Freon. And then they changed the fan at one point and the motor to the fan. The last guy who came out stuck some sort of device in it. He said there were too many leaks. They approved a new air conditioning unit. It took a couple of weeks for them to get it and installed. But the guy was very nice. He did a very good job.

    We had a heat wave going on. And my wife left the house for two weeks and stayed with my daughter because she had air conditioning. He said, "It takes a while. You just got to submit it." They had a question and they resubmitted, then they said they had the part. And with everything going on, he said, "It takes about a week or 10 days to even get the part." So he was right in the timeframe he told me. I didn't understand why I had to pay 1,170, though. He said there are parts that American Home Shield didn't cover. But they replaced the unit, finally. It was better than footing the whole bill. The guy that came out was very nice. He knew what he was doing. He was fast and efficient.

    I'm satisfied with all of my claims. But when the icemaker went out, then everything in the refrigerator started melting. It was at Thanksgiving time. American Home Shield sent two guys out. One guy collected $100 from my wife. And I called up. They said, "Well, you got to call him back and he'll give you your money back." And I did and he did. But they said I had a sealed unit. And the two guys they’ve sent out said they didn't work on sealed units. So I called back. I said, "You don't ask them if they work on sealed units?" "No."

    They said, "You can call anyone you want except for four different companies. You can't use these companies." And it turned out to where they came out and fixed it. And I had to pay $800 up front. They reimbursed me. I was shocked how fast they gave me the 800 back. So I'm happy with that. They waived the $100 fee because it took so long to do it. But the refrigerator is making noises again. It's not making ice again. I'm waiting because I was waiting for the air conditioning. That was more important. I have a freezer out in the garage. I put stuff in the freezer. But you'd be sitting there and this thing just makes screaming noises. They put a condenser in or something. The first time I called, I'd be on hold for an hour. But they've really streamlined it. And everyone I've ever dealt with is very nice. It has gotten better every time I called. I recommend AHS to everybody I know.

    I have a valve that leaks. It’s in the confines of my basement but it’s to an outside system which is for my sprinkler system outside for the grass. I have to shut off other valves to stop it from leaking by. The thing is, the contract says that anything that is diagnosed to repair has to be in confines of the foundation. That’s the thing I don’t get with the verbiage that American Home Shield has in the contract. It controls an outside system but it is in the confines of my basement. The contract does say that if it's in the confines of the foundation, they’ll cover it. But because it's a system on the outside, it will not be covered.

    A technician had come here a couple years ago and did notice it was leaking. He said, “Because it's not covered, I'll just go ahead and tighten it up.” I’m afraid that during the winter, it's gonna freeze outside and have my waterline freeze. It is part of my household plumbing because that's where the water comes from. Other than that, American Home Shield covered everything else. I recently had some faulty switches and an electrician came out, tested them and replaced them for me.

    My air conditioner went out, and I live in Las Vegas and it was a full week of 111 to 115. I went online to my account, and I was able to request the service straight from there. American Home Shield immediately assigned me a company. I tried to call the air conditioning company to see if I could get an appointment the next day, but nobody answered. So, the next morning when I woke up, I had a text message from them saying that the service would come the following day.

    The service provider told me they would come on Tuesday between 10:00 and 2:00, and the tech showed up promptly at 10. He was a very nice man. The issue was the capacitor that had gone out, so he fixed it and tested everything to make sure that the air coming out of the vents in the house was appropriate temperature. He was literally here for 15 minutes, so it couldn't have gone any better.

    I had one other claim with American Home Shield that was a little disappointing. My water heater was making some noise so I called to make the claim and specifically asked if noise was covered, and American Home Shield told me that it was. But when the service provider showed up, he said they don't cover noise. I later found that in the contract. But the fact that I was on the phone with American Home Shield and they told me that it was covered was a waste of 100 bucks. So that was a little bit annoying.

    The service provider also told me that they have a call center that's in another country, and he said they often tell people that things are covered when they're not. I definitely should have read the contract in more detail, but that's how it goes sometimes. I was really happy that this most recent service worked out so well and was probably the way that things should have worked out. They gave me tracking information for the service providers, and it was very, very easy that I didn't have to call and hound people.

    Our AC unit was not cooling. The fan wasn’t turning on, and the guy from the company that came out knew exactly what the issue was and he just repaired it. Then he explained to me what he did and how he knew it was that and how to know it was working. I couldn't tell it was working right away. So, he showed me what to do to show me that it was working.     We had an issue with the air conditioning a year ago. The person came out and did an estimate, and it was a compressor, so I was offered the opportunity to just refill with Freon, which was going to be expensive because AHS had limits on the coverage. What I was disappointed in was that he was trying to sell a new unit and didn't seem very interested in doing the replacement because it was not going to be very lucrative for them during that busy season.     AHS is worth the money. I like that with having AHS, most of the time, I can have somebody that they think is reliable to come out and do the job. And most of the time, I can get some things done with them in two days. Recently, I had a leak in the ceiling and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. So the first guy that came out put a hole in the ceiling. But he couldn't find where the leak was coming from. The last guy came out and put a hole in the ceiling and found out it was coming from the air conditioner. The pipe was clogged and it was causing the water to build up in the air conditioner on the inside of the house. The water just came down like a water fountain. The tech was great. He explained everything he had to do, what he needed to do and what caused the problem. I'm just waiting on them to call me back about repairing the ceiling.

    I could hardly understand the person on the phone. I asked the person if they could speak up louder and slower. I said I’m very hard of hearing, which I’m not. They tried, but I had a hard time understanding the person. I had to have this person repeat themselves numerous times so I could understand. Other than that, Abbott came out, fixed the problem, and it didn't work. They got back out a second time, fixed the problem, but still didn't work. So I called Abbott again. My air conditioning is leaking, and we live in a senior citizen place. It is 100 degrees again today.

    When I called them yesterday to say it was still leaking, they already closed out the bill and they said I should get a second opinion. They told me that I got to call the insurance company. So I called American Home Shield yesterday and they said they would contact Abbott, and then they will call me back today to give me the other person to come give me a second opinion to try to fix it. But they have not called back. So I am a little upset about that.

    The person I talked to yesterday was fine. But when I called the other three times for my hot water heater and my air conditioning, they couldn't find my policy, it doesn't exist. So you got to talk to another person, and that other person found it. So yesterday, after the second phone call, it was the first time they recognized the contract number. When they didn’t recognize my contract number, I had to go through the whole spiel again with my name, address, phone number, and email. So that should be updated in American Home Shield's system. Also, some of the people that are in the boiler room should speak more clearly and knowledgeable with the English language.

    The ground fault interrupter in the kitchen and the garbage disposal switch weren't working. The electrician came and fixed those two and that was good. Recently, the thermostat wasn't lighting up. The guy came and looked at the unit. He wrote up in the report, “System is wired up as a dual fuel. Customer had someone change out the thermostat. Shorted out board and thermostat.” He told me that American Home Shield would get back to me but they didn't. I kept calling. Finally, when I called the second or third time, I spoke to someone and he told me that my claim was denied because somebody worked on it before. I called the company that came out and they gave me an estimate to repair it that was beyond belief. I'm gonna have somebody else come out, look at it and work on it, and hopefully get it fixed, seeing that Home Shield is not going to honor the terms of the contract.

    The water filter system people were doing their maintenance. They looked at the water heater and saw that one of the pipes had a brown color to it. Then they said, “You might need to get that fixed or replaced.” So, I put the claim in to have it checked. I immediately got a notification, and then the contractor called the next day to ensure the appointment dates and times. People come out usually within a couple of days to take care of any needs. The contractor came out and looked at the system, and they told me that that wasn't the case. And then, I had a couple of other questions about the plumbing and they answered those as well.     As soon as I moved in, American Home Shield provided a rekeying of the whole house. Also, I've been getting regular maintenance checkups on the HVAC system. They help me stay on top of the maintenance of the house. I'm living here alone as a woman without a whole lot of technical skills in maintaining household systems, so it's nice to know there's one number I can call. I make one call and they'll have someone out here in a day or two. And they answer right away. If I don't like the automated system and it's not getting me what I need, I can manage to get to a real person fairly easily, which is nice. Last week, I had two different services - one for a plumbing issue and the other for an electrical issue.

    There was all this debris in the basement shower, which had happened before, and I cleaned it up and thought I'd gotten rid of the problem. But I realized stuff was backing up from the laundry room sink or something. The plumber went through and tested. He could not recreate it and whatever was causing the clog seems to have cleared up. But he did a really thorough job trying to diagnose where the stuff was coming from. He was there quite a while and he did a lot of testing. He ran the water for a long time and tried running water from different places. Also, he put down some industrial strength drain cleaner down there. Then, there's a homeowner thing that I need to be able to do, which is changing a water filter, and he taught me how to do that.

    Then, I had issues with a circuit breaker going off. Sometimes, it would happen when I'm not using any appliances, but it would always happen if I tried to use two appliances in the house at once. The electrician tested the whole system and everything was correct. But everything is on one circuit in this house, which is the problem, and it's not a repair with the current system. It's adding capacity and that's not covered by American Home Shield. He wasn't able to tell me exactly what to do but he recommended adding an additional circuit for the refrigerator or I could try getting a new refrigerator. He said it could be that the refrigerator is drawing too much energy.

    Both of the guys let me see what they were doing and how they were doing it. I was convinced that they were indeed testing everything that could be tested and diagnosing problems. With the electrician, he had a tool to test the electrical current, each one of the breakers, and I was able to see that everything is working the way it should. It's just that the electrical system for the house needs to have an update. It's good that they were able to diagnose the problem.

    I was catching a vibration in the toilet and tub area. The techs looked at it, addressed it and took care of it from an internal point of view. Then they checked outside and said it was caused by low water pressure coming into the house. That was the closest plumbing to the outside connection. They addressed the internal issue and that was all taken care of by American Home Shield, but I found out that the work that they wanted to do or suggested outside was not going to be covered. Although they handled everything well, I was disappointed that outside the foundation was not covered. But they did everything right as far as I was concerned about taking the problem and finding a resource and getting that resource to get in touch with me immediately and coming within a day or so and taking care of the issue.

    My washing machine was filling all the way to the top, so that the water would begin to spill out of it. The sensor that keeps track of the water level inside the machine wasn't working. I had a guy who had done some work for me before have a look at it and he said it couldn't be repaired. I thought I was going to have to replace my washing machine. I have the policy with American Home Shield, so I called and their guy came out. He was able to fix it in 20 minutes and it’s working fine.

    American Home Shield is well worth looking into. Some years may go by and you don't use it at all, but when you do need it, it's a good thing to have. The advantage is that you just have one number to call for all of these things. They have well qualified people who come out and show up, and usually, you're able to get them in within a couple of days. You get them out and if it's fixable, they fix it. If not, they replace it (like with my garbage disposal), so it’s a good deal.

    Rob's Appliance Service came out and fixed my refrigerator. It was thawing out. The refrigerator part wasn't keeping the food cold. I called HSA to submit the claim. It was right before the 4th and I was panicking because I thought I wouldn't be able to get it fixed and all my food was gonna spoil in there. I was expressing that concern to the representative at HSA, and she said she understood the situation. She made me take pictures of the inside of the refrigerator for the codes. I never had to do that before. Then she gave me the number of the person that was coming to fix it and the reference number, so I called and left a voicemail.

    I waited a couple of hours. He hadn’t called me so I called back and he answered the phone. He was in Milwaukee but he was from Camelsford. I said, “What? You're coming all the way from Camelsford to fix appliances in Milwaukee? That's kind of far. That's how many miles?” He said it is about 50. But he came that same day. He said he was in Milwaukee for another client and that he will be stopping by because he was not gonna be in Milwaukee until the following week, which would be after the 4th. He fixed the refrigerator. He kept referring to it as being old and that I could probably get one for $800 at Home Depot. I said, “Well, I don't know why HSA won’t replace this knowing they came out here a million times fixing the same thing over and over.” I don't know why they would not replace it because it's not gonna last long.

    I've been a client of HSA for 15 years, and I kind of didn't like them always fixing something with the same problem and never really wanting to replace it. And when they do replace things, they charge you an arm and a leg for it. The last time I got something replaced, it’s the furnace and I had to come out of my pocket of about $1,300.

    I'm not overly satisfied because they want to fix these old appliances and have a difficult time wanting to replace them. Out of all the years that I've been here, they replaced the faucet in the kitchen, I had to pay for the furnace for 1,300 and I had to pay $600 out of pocket for a water heater. I thought to myself, “My god! What is this insurance for if I have to pay out of pocket for everything?” That’s a lot of money for me to have to pay out of pocket when I also have to pay the $75 fee.

    Moreover, they went up to $66.99 a month instead of $58.25 a month. If they have come out to your home and fixed your refrigerator more than three times, they need to replace it. My problem is they don't like to replace old appliances. For the last three things I had to have done in this house, I'm not satisfied with two of them because I had to come out of my pocket big time. The latest thing they fixed was this refrigerator and I'm kind of torn up about that because this refrigerator’s got to be at least 30 years old, and it came with the house. I didn't think I would be having this refrigerator this long without them having to replace it.

    They didn't even want to replace my washing machine. They kept saying I did something wrong to it because they had some appliance place come out here and said I tore it up by putting some heavy shoes in it. I never put any shoes in this washing machine. So I said, “I want another opinion.” They called somebody else and they came out here and told me that this is the way Whirlpool washing machines break down. It has nothing to do with the load. They’re always fixing the dryer, too. They'll never replace that either. They fixed the dryer and the refrigerator numerous times.

    The thing about replacing is they only give you a certain amount of credit. Then you have to come up with rest. If you don't like the replacement, you have to buy your own. It’s only a $400 credit. I'm not gonna buy a used refrigerator for $400, and refrigerators do cost a lot of money. It's at least 1,000. I have to eventually replace this one because they will never replace it. At today's market and the way things are built, they’re not going to find the same kind of refrigerator that I have in here. The tech was pointing that out to me. He said, “This has been here a long time but you'll never get refrigerators that last that long anymore.” I had a Whirlpool washer machine and it was really good, too. I said, “Oh, they’re replacing this with a GE. Lord have mercy.”

    We have been customers of AHS for many years and we are very pleased because they just replaced our refrigerator. Not long ago, they replaced our washing machine and a couple of years ago, they replaced our range. We live in a house where all the appliances are getting near the end of their life, so AHS have stood true to their word. If they couldn't fix the appliances, they replaced them. Usually, the claims process works pretty smoothly, but when you need to call and talk to somebody, you have to wait a long time on the phone holding. As for contractors, we tend to ask for ones that we know and AHS has been good about giving us somebody we've already used.

    Recently, we had a toilet that wouldn't stop running. The guy came and fixed it within probably 15 minutes. He just had to replace a part and he knew what he was doing. He was polite and there were no issues. We have also recommended AHS to our friends because of all the problems we've had and that they've replaced appliances.

    The AC wasn't cooling down my house. So, I called HSA and they had J&A come out. They've been out several times for various things. The guy who came out explained to me what was going on and added more of whatever they have to add and recharged it because the unit's old. It seems to be working pretty well. He explained to me about what I can do in the future. So, I had a good experience.

    Submitting claims is usually pretty easy. I usually call the 800 number and set up the appointment. This past time with J&A, they called me right away and got in the same day that I made the request. But usually, it's pretty quick as far as putting in the request and then having the service people come. There have been a couple times where I've called and I've been directed to a call center. I'm pretty sure it's in Asia. They're speaking English but sometimes it's difficult to understand because of the accent or because of the explanation with the language barrier. That would be my biggest complaint to American Home Shield.

    When I was having issues with my furnace and needing to get that replaced, I did speak to somebody. They're very knowledgeable. But with that language barrier, I spent a lot of extra time on the phone going over different things and different options. Having to confirm and then misunderstanding and then having to go through the whole process again to make sure was kind of a nuisance. I think that is something that AHS could improve on.

    I can do the claims process online, but there's always an occasion where I have to talk to folks. The verbal customer support system side of it is rather lacking. It's an offshore outsource situation and those people read from a menu and they have very little decision-making authority, so it's cumbersome when trying to talk to somebody. With my sump pump issue, the first vendor that AHS put totally failed in fixing the problem. My wife finally wrote some significant emails that got some attention at corporate level as opposed to offshore customer service support. Once we were finally able to break through that barrier to corporate people, action was taken immediately to move away from the previous vendor and bring in J&J Mechanical, who was very good at what they do.

    I have AHS at two properties, so I'm not thinking about cancelling or changing. We had some good experiences at one of those. We were able to replace an appliance at a very low cost because we had that contract so there were significant savings there. What I'm looking for right now is the recent visit that All Coast Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning performed at my other site. There seemed to be an issue, but when they got there, there was none, which was good to hear. I've called that vendor twice to try to get a copy of what they're going to submit to AHS and I haven't heard yet on that. I'm waiting for that information. I've mentioned to friends a couple of times that our overall experience with AHS was reasonably satisfactory.

    I put the claim at night, and it was the second day when American Home Shield called and they assigned a time. It couldn't have been easier. My garbage disposal went out and it was replaced. And the day that the tech came, it was completed. He cleaned up. It was a good experience. The contractor was in great shape. They knew the problem immediately. And it had even stopped humming. They had it fixed. They just have to leave and go find a part. But they were back soon and took care of it. The only thing is most of everybody gives you a four-hour period. And it's difficult to give somebody four hours. But it wasn't any problem this time so it all worked out.

    AHS recently sent out All Brand Cooling and the first time that their tech came out, he did the work then he wanted $160 to be given to him. I told him that I needed a receipt and he said he didn't give receipts. He also didn't want to give his driver's license for the condo to hold on to while he was given the keys in order to get into the condo. He was asked to give his driver's license so the condo could get back the keys later.

    So, I filed a complaint and told AHS that this guy hadn't sent me my receipt. Then all of a sudden, he came back and he didn't even take five minutes. He said he saw the problem and that I needed new coils. He said the coils were dirty but I told him that that was how they were. I told him that the unit is 17 years old and it was frozen up. He said that the leak was coming from that and that the unit looked like it had been cleaned before. I told him that it had never been cleaned before but he said that to him, it did. Then he asked me to let him continue his work and not even 10 minutes later, he said he'd let me know how much the part would be. Then, I got a call from AHS saying that the work was not covered because it shows that somebody cleaned the unit.

    So, I had Southern Cooling come out and their tech said that the coils did look pretty bad. Then he went upstairs and said that the problem was with a switch. He replaced the switch and now I have cool air. Southern Cooling was very good and they did their job properly. But the guy from All Brand was horrible and very unprofessional. He didn't even have All Brand Appliances on the side of his van, which was really bad. Right now. I'm still waiting for a report from AHS about him because I am going to send him a demand letter through my cousin who's an attorney. He's going to send him a letter demanding for an apology and demanding to retract the statement because it's slanderous.

    Other than that, we have three policies with AHS, including an investment property and my mother's, and we're about to buy two more investment properties. We want to grow with AHS but at the same time, I can't have people who would do something that's not right when all I asked for was a receipt. AHS is also not working with me on my issue with All Brand and I would hate to have my cousin turn around, file a suit, and demand that AHS give us a copy of his report. I'm entitled to the report because I pay a monthly fee.

    Having AHS is very good. We definitely need it. The only thing I am upset with was when I called in to have one of my homes cancelled because I have sold the house and moved and they had taken out last month’s premium. I called and told them the second time. They said they had no record of me calling me before and that they had already deducted and they couldn’t reverse it. I said, “That doesn’t make any sense. I was gonna transfer the service to our new house,” She said, “We’ll stop the cancellation fee.” "You may stop the cancellation fee, but you're still not refunding my $40." But recently, the plumbing was backing up in the bathtub and the techs took care of everything that needed to be done. We were also having trouble with our heating and come to find out when the techs came out, it needed a new thermostat. They did a great job with that.

    I bought their services based on the reviews that I read but unfortunately I had a very bad experience with them as I opened a service request almost 6 weeks back and had to call them each and every week to ask when will it be fixed and always get told that it will be done tomorrow and then I will again call them back a week later and ask and they repeated the same message.... After 6 weeks of continuous follow ups and escalation I eventually gave up and cancelled the contract. The problem is still outstanding and they have charged me for it already and will not get the refund of this service and they have given back to me the pro-rated amount as of today.... Not 6 weeks back. I spent multiple hours with them over the phone waiting and talking to reps and all has been wasted.... I have had other home warranties and have had much better experiences.... This is the worst experience I have ever had with any home warranty service provider.

    I first opened a service ticket for a totally non-functional air conditioner on June 16th. The contractor contacted me to schedule the appointment for June 21st. That was a little too far away considering the temps outside, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, I went along with it. On June 21st, the assigned contractor was a no-show with no call. I attempted to reach the contractor's main office at least 10 times on this day with no answer or returned voicemails. The contractor showed up on June 22nd, did some testing and decided it was a bad thermostat. He closed out the call and left. I went to purchase a new thermostat, installed it an hour later and the air conditioner still didn't work. So I placed a recall and the next technician was scheduled to come on June 24th.

    On June 24th, after waiting all day I found out I was the last house on the route and it would be very late. I was leaving to go out of town so they rescheduled me for June 28th. On June 28th, a great technician named Don visited and accurately diagnosed the problem, and it was not the old thermostat or the new one I had purchased. Unfortunately that same night, the starter motor on the fan unit died, I imagine from all of the stress put on the system that day. So I called AHS on the night of June 28th to place a recall. I never heard back from the assigned contractor so on June 30th I called AHS again and found out the agent never opened the recall, but had added notes about our conversation on June 28th.

    On June 30th the AHS agent opened a recall ticket and assigned it to the contractor. I just received a text message appointment from the contractor for JULY 6th. If you're following along here, that is TWENTY ONE DAYS without a working air conditioner. I have tried to call the assigned contractor at the contact information supplied to me, probably 100 times over the past two weeks and have gotten someone to pick up exactly ONCE. My hands are so tied here and there's nothing I can do about it other than wait for the service that I have paid for monthly for over three years for this house alone to take care of me. There seems to be no way to escalate a severe customer service issue beyond their offshore contact center. This is just totally unacceptable, I just want to speak to someone who can understand my problem and has the power to help.
