    Realty Rekey was my second choice. The first company that was assigned to my claim did not respond until after we have reassigned it to another company. Realty Rekey called me and they did push the original date back to the following week from a Friday to a Monday. But the guy showed up and he was first class. He was exceptional, responsible and did the job in a timely fashion. That experience with Realty Rekey was fantastic.

    My personal opinion of American Home Shield is not flattering to them. Their process is onerous, and their reviews reflect that. There's really not much they do in terms of covering appliances, and I wouldn't recommend the expense. In conversations with them, with little follow up, there was no support whatsoever. I had a very old unit that I just chose to upgrade and replace. The coverage wasn't gonna be very helpful. I haven't had anything else go out in the first year, but I'm not going to renew simply because if you check on the process that they have, it's almost better if you can afford to just go buy something and be done with it. I would not recommend them to someone else. There are other programs that are more effective and efficient. They provide more coverage for your money if it's a legitimate claim. I’m not a fan of American Home Shield.

    Having American Home Shield has been beneficial and I recommend it. We've put in our share of requests and gotten things taken care of. Almost everything has gone smoothly. Recently, I put in two warranty requests the same day, and the air conditioner part was handled, but I also had an issue with our pool pump. The person showed up and said, “The pool pump broke, and we need to replace it. It should be in in a few days, no later than Monday of this week.” I haven't heard from them since.

    Last spring, we had trouble with our refrigerator and we ended up being without it for 11 weeks. It was ridiculous. Some repairman would come out and say, “I think this might be the problem,” then we have to wait for parts to come in. They then came back and fixed it or installed the part, and it didn’t work. That happened five times before I finally got American Home Shield to replace the refrigerator.

    Our unit completely shut off and the upstairs unit shut off a couple days earlier. That got shut off because somebody ran over some of the wires. I requested for service and the contractor came out promptly (the next day) and diagnosed both units. Some of the controller wires from the upstairs unit were simply unplugged. They got the upstairs unit working right away, which was great because it kept the house cooled off. Then, they ordered a part. They told us it was gonna take a while and they kept us up to date on it.

    They gave us an estimate on what our part was gonna cost and within the timeframe that they said it would take to get the part, they received it. They called us, came out the very next day and the technician was the same technician both times. He went through everything, and it's been working ever since. He did a great job. This was the simplest insurance process I've ever done in my life. Get American Home Shield. For whatever it costs, it’s so worth it for the first year. Also, if you have time to look into looking at a lower deductible and maybe customize it better, then that would be the thing to do.

    I'm not super happy with American Home Shield’s service. Everything is not covered. I had a tub leak, and it was upstairs. When the tub drained, it was leaking from the upstairs through the dining room chandelier. So I called them, I paid the $75 service fee and it took them three weeks to determine that it wasn't a covered expense. They told me to pay the plumber $475 more. He was going to cut open my wall to ascertain the problem. They won't fix the wall damage though. I called another plumber and I got it fixed for $200.

    As far as their response, it varies. Sometimes they give you an appointment four or five days out. Sometimes it's the next day. I think it all depends on the vendor when you get the appointment. But this latest experience, I'm really second guessing the whole thing. I'd tell others, “No, I think you're better off just doing it on your own and calling on your own.” Companies they contract with are just second-rate, and they're doing insurance calls to get business because they don't have regular business.

    With the upfront sale made to me, American Home Shield made it seem that the process would be seamless but it isn't. It's not as easy as I thought it would be. They have a list of contractors in our area and it turns out the closest contractor we've ever got to come out the house is at minimum 60 miles away. I also had an issue with a technician so I called the provider to say so. The lady was very rude, told me she didn't care and hang up on me. I was quite shocked. I finally got ahold of a live person at American Home Shield and explained the situation to them. They said they were sorry and would try not to send that person out to my home anymore. Most recently, a technician came out to repair our dishwasher. He had to come out twice to do it but got it finished.

    AHS gave me a great introductory offer but I've noticed that my monthly bill went up. But their claim process was really easy. I love being able to go online and get response right away. They make the appointments right away and I just sit back. We had a couple of faucets leaking and a toilet bowl that was cracked. AHS determined that one of the faucets didn't qualify because it was an outside faucet and it was beyond the foundation. The other faucets, we discussed different ways of repairing it, and we realized that cashing out on that faucet is the better option. With the toilet, we were recommended to cash out on that one which was the wiser choice.

    The outside AC unit was making this loud noise. When the unit shut down, it stopped and then it never did it again. But we wanted someone else to check it because we weren't sure why it did that. American Home Shield sent the Family Heating & Air Conditioning out. Chris, the tech, came in and he treated it as if we hadn't told him anything. He went from scratch trying to troubleshoot and ran all kinds of tests with the unit apart and he found nothing. It hasn't made a loud noise since. He also taught us how to keep the outside of the unit air vents clean. He was very professional, helpful, and courteous.

    We've always had a good experience with the technicians that we've had to interact with. There was just one time we interacted with four different people because they never sent the same person out, which was frustrating because we had to go through the whole thing each time. Then, one time they were supposed to come out, they were supposed to be here by 5:00 but it was 9:00 in the evening before they got here. But I understand when the guys get tied up on something that they're not expecting.

    When I first moved in, I had the locks replaced and that went perfectly. This time, the air conditioner wasn’t cooling as well as it has before and the contractor called me almost minutes after I submitted the claim. It was an excellent experience. We scheduled an appointment and they were able to come out in a week and a half. But that was because of my scheduling availability. When the tech came out, he was very professional and good at explaining. The only thing I didn't like was how much it cost to put more Freon. It was 110 per pound and it was four pounds, so it was a lot and only $40 was covered by American Home Shield. Still, with having them, I have one place to go to so it's convenient. I can call or go online and schedule, and they'll do everything for me.

    United Air Temp came by at the beginning of June. They were servicing my HVAC and blew a transformer. They fixed that but little to my knowing that they had also blown a motor in my fridge. I kept wondering why my fridge was not cold. I called American Home Shield and DMV Pro Tech came out and serviced it. I paid 100 bucks but having a guy to come out there would have been equally as much or more. Also, the part was included in the labor so a home warranty is really important especially for new homeowners like myself. The guy, John, did a great work. The other guy for United Air Temp back in June had to get his senior representative to come out and help. It took two days for them to fix that up for me.

    In general, American Home Shield is decent. It’s kind of on the pricey side but it is beneficial. When I needed them, their contractors came right out except for the refrigerator. I was kind of disappointed with that one. The parts of my refrigerator were covered but I didn't know that until the tech came out to fix it. I've also had to use American Home Shield on the same toilet leak twice. The first time I had it done, I had to pay for all the repairs on the house. The second time, I didn’t. The initial service fee was the only thing I had to pay for. That was within a calendar year and was kind of weird to me. Then when I thought I had some leaking issues, they sent the guy back out again.

    If it's something that's going to be more on the low cost, the process with AHS is really fast and easy. But if it's something like a large appliance, it can be quite painful. On the same day, I scheduled for an electrical and my washer. The electrical got taken care of within three days but for the washer, we're going to two weeks now. AHS could give status updates. I found out through the washer that it's a different approval process because of the ordering of the parts. It would have been good to have that understanding from the upfront, that that could be a longer timeline so families, large ones especially, could prepare.

    After I had submitted the request through the home warranty, I got a timely schedule. But it was a little difficult getting ahold of the contractor on the phone. Their website said give them a call in the morning, and their office hours on the website said 7:00 until 5:00. So I got up and called them at 7:00 and just kept getting a recording. But 8:00 came and I got ahold of them. And then they scheduled me for the next day from 10:00 until 12:00. The prior schedule ran a little longer, so they had to delay me until 3:00, which is understandable in this record heat.

    However, I didn't like their automated system. They tried to update me that they would be late. And then when I called the number, they said they tried to get ahold of me, which they did. But it was just a computer-generated message. Overall, I had a real good experience with The Right Guys. I gave them a good recommendation once they got there. I'm very satisfied with the work that got done. Antonio was very helpful and knew exactly where to go and look for the problems. I would recommend American Home Shield. My experience was positive.

    When I turned the air conditioner, it wouldn't come on. I figured the motor was out so I contacted American Home Shield and they referred me to a contractor. Then they came out and found out the circuit breaker had tripped. They turned the circuit breaker on and the air conditioner came right on. It worked fine until about a week later. I went to turn the air conditioner on and it didn't come on again. So I went and checked the circuit breaker and it tripped. As I turned it back on, it tripped again, so I knew there was some type of problem causing it to trip. So I went online and contacted American Home Shield again, then they set me up with the same contractor.

    The tech came out and did a few electrical checks and found out that the heater motor, which controlled the vent for the signal for the air conditioner, had burned up, and every time you turn it on, it would trip the circuit breakers. So we replaced the motor for the heater and I haven't had a problem with it since. He fixed it in about 45 minutes and knew exactly what was the problem.

    American Home Shield covered the replacement of the motor 100%, but the contractor told me that there are certain things that they will not cover 100%. So whoever buys the service from American Home Shield needs to look the fine print up because although the advertisements show that they will cover everything once you sign up, they don't. Like for the air conditioner, they cover a very small amount of the Freon, and that's very expensive. So anything that's required above that has to come out of the owner's pocket, and American Home Shield won't provide it.

    Overall, I definitely recommend American Home Shield because they do save money. I'm paying them $22 a month, but I'm sure the labor and replacement of the motor for my air conditioner would have been around $500. I'm going to have American Home Shield for every home that I have because I'd rather spend a little bit per month than a big, big bill all at once. I'm certainly going to keep it.

    AHS's claims process isn't too difficult and they've been pretty quick to respond. The challenge is the fact that I would get different people and sometimes the notes may not reflect. The communication can be a little bit better. Also, there seemed like there was an increase in the premium but my experience is well worth the investment. I filed a claim for the HVAC unit. Greenway Home Services came out and did their check. The person who came in was superb. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. He discovered that the water was kind of backing up so he had to drain that and get things taken care of. He got our air going again. Then, I had another for my tub. My jet blower was not working right. Greenway scheduled a time to come out but we didn't realize there was no entry for them to get into it. We had to get one created and they're scheduled to come back this Wednesday.

    AHS has been really fast and responsive. And we've had some solutions. I mostly submit claims electronically but within minutes, I'd sometimes get a notification that there had been a contractor assigned to the claim and that they'd be reaching out to me shortly. Sometimes, they call right then and sometimes, within a day or two.

    A contractor rekeyed the doors. Cecil, the technician, was really knowledgeable. We upgraded and got some things that we didn't think we would need, but we did. And so he did a nice job. Also, we had a pool plumbing issue that was repaired by Oasis Pool Service and that was good. I like AHS. It provides service and repairs and utilizes the insurance policy to pay for some of those and provides a contractor. It's hard to know where to turn to a contractor and they seem to have a good partnership with AHS.

So, we bought AHS and it worked. The tech that came for our AC was good, polite and fast. It works now. He put a dye in it so that if it leaks some more, you can tell where it's leaking from.     We had a dishwasher issue and when the guy came to work on it, he took a wrench to the water valve and he broke it. Then we had to open another American Home Shield case. They sent Dave's Plumbing and Dave's told us what time they were going to be there. They’re running a little bit late and they called us and let us know they were there. The tech said, “Oh, yes. This guy used a wrench and broke the water valve.” So he replaced it. They were very meticulous with making sure that everything is neat and that we’re happy with the work that they did. We couldn't have been happier. Dave's Plumbing was outstanding. If were had to find someone, it would have taken way too much time. The first two issues we've had since we had American Home Shield, we got a rapid response and superb contacts. We have two houses with AHS and we are super pleased.

    The contractor did the Freon, and then the compressor was bad. They got the Freon put in, and then the tech called me and said that something was wrong with the compressor. It had to be ordered by American Home Shield, and they would let us know when it was in. We’re still sitting in a 100 degree house. I've called a couple of times to see if the part is in, but I haven't got any answer in the last couple of days. They were hoping maybe it would be in today, but I haven't heard anything. Other than that, the people were super nice when they came out. Also, we've told people that American Home Shield was a good thing.

    I'm not having a good experience at the moment. My air hasn't worked in weeks. Someone came on Friday and said that it was the compressor. Someone came out this morning and said that it was the insulation. I've been in my home three years, never had a problem with the insulation and I'm still left without air. It works, but I have to put it all the way on 60 and who wants to pay a $400 bill every month? I don't and that's what it's running. But I don't have a problem with AHS. It's the company that they send out.

    The plumber came on the 16th, which was Friday, and the work was done very well. I was just under the impression that I could upgrade it if I felt I wanted to and I had that discussion with that initial plumber. But then the company called on Monday saying that they were in the neighborhood and if they could come over and install the faucet. They did that. But I was a little disappointed. I looked the faucet up and I've never heard the name of the manufacturer at all. I usually buy good brand name products that I can trust and I know you get what you pay for.

    But then if people got some expensive pieces that they're going to need to get replaced in the next few years, they should do it with American Home Shield. It will be worth it. They should just take into consideration the fact that they would want to know what product was being offered before it was just all they had to do it especially big products like a furnace or a major appliance. This was simply a faucet so it was not quite as important a product as a major appliance. AHS might give a number for what they intend on spending on a replacement on the new product and then see if the consumer wants to upgrade that for whatever the price difference is.

    I've had AHS in the past and they were excellent. Their customer service and their vendors that they send to my home are always top-notch. Their website is super easy to use and it's really easy to put in a claim. I put my claim out on a Saturday afternoon, and they were responding to me by 8:30 Monday morning. So, they're very, very on top of it. The gentleman that came out knew exactly what was wrong with my ceiling fan. He fixed it in 10 minutes. AHS has covered everything that I have put in a claim for.

    My wife called American Home Shield and reported that we were having leaking problems with our toilet. Steinberg Plumbing came out and looked at the job first. They changed and put the new apparatus inside the water tank. They thought that was the problem, but it wasn't. The next day, my wife came in and told me that we still got a leak in the upstairs second floor bathroom so then, she didn't use that. We have a powder room the first floor which is right underneath the second floor bathroom and she went in there then she felt water dripping on her head. She looked up and there was water coming from the second floor bathroom going down the PVC pipe and splattering on the ceiling there.

    They finally replaced the toilet and kept us informed every step of the way. We’re taking a look at the first floor powder room ceiling now and there's a little water damage. I might be able to paint over it, but if I got mold or something that develops from the water, then that has to be replaced. Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield.

    The website was easy. I've been using it before because I put it in right after the one for the water heater that turned out to not be the water heater. Initially, we put it in for the water heater. And when the contractor came out, they said that the expansion tank and relief valve were not covered. They said it was not actually part of the hot water heater. And I was like, "Well, I understand they're on the outside of the water heater, but they're connected to the water heater." When I talked to Plumbing Enterprise, they said that the claim was denied and I would have to pay the $325, on top of the $100 that I've paid to get them out here. That was the first time that it was denied. And American Home Shield said, "Hey, look at your policy." And when I looked at the policy, it was one of those things that wasn't approved. And we had to get it fixed.

    Right after that, we noticed a leak. That was when we went online and submitted the claim for the contractor to come out and check to see why that spot was leaking. There was some leakage on our AC unit, right where the pipe comes out of there. I got a message saying that a contractor was assigned. And then I called them and they said, "Okay. We could get somebody out there." They gave me the date. And then I got a text from American Home Shield saying that the person was on their way. And this guy came in, replaced the putty around that, the tube where it was leaking, and then he was gone. I would recommend AHS. I like to equate it to Forex Trading. You're not going to win 100% of the time. That's unrealistic. But if you're in the 90s, then it's still going pretty good.

    American Home Shield got recommended by my uncle and I trust him. It's that word of mouth when you're looking at home insurance like this as, “Who are your friends and family recommending?” Because this is our first house. They've been very responsive. If you got something, from the time I put that $100 in there to get the claim, it was quicker than an hour when I would get a notification that a contractor has been assigned. And they've always been able to come in within a reasonable time. That's always a stress reliever. Also, the contractors that have come to the house have always been professional, pleasant and no nonsense. Which is what you want with a brand new house. If it looks like something is wrong, tell me. It doesn't get better with time. And it was a simple thing. The hot water heater should have been on the diamond. And it was a bit above the diamond, so we had to pay for it.

    I called American Home Shield and made the appointment. They texted me and said that GE was going to give an appointment to come out. GE texted me and gave me a date that they were coming out. The tech took the microwave apart about five times with different parts. He kept trying different things to see if the microwave worked and he had to order something else. Then he came back and fixed it again. It took over a month to get the microwave fixed. A couple days after they fixed it, I went to use the microwave and I noticed that the numbers where it functions was loose.

    I tried calling GE but they would not answer. Then I called American Home Shield and the representative said she couldn't get in contact with them. She was supposed to call me back but she didn't call me back when she said, so I called GE back again. That was when the representative was nice enough to set everything back up for me and have the GE people come back out. When the tech came out the other day, he found that there was a piece broken inside of the microwave. So they have to replace another part.

    When my air conditioner stopped working, a contractor came out the very next day. The tech fixed the unit within a short period of time and was on his way. I felt comfortable with what he did. He didn't try to push and immediately put a new one in. He was very honest. We were extremely happy. We have had another claim which was with a ceiling fan. The light worked but the ceiling fan didn't. A tech came in and fixed it. It worked for a while then it didn't so I need to call him back.

    From one day to the next, our thermostat was reporting that it wasn't receiving any power therefore couldn't control the unit. We tried to fix it ourselves by flipping breakers but nothing was working. We had a contractor come out and it turns out the problem was that the fuse on the unit itself had blown. They simply replaced the fuse that was in the unit and everything was working.

    I have had American Home Shield on all my properties. For the last two properties I've had, I've probably had to use them inside the first two months of having the home. This time, it was an AC issue. For the property before, it was a plumbing sewage back-up issue. I wouldn't ever buy a house without a home warranty and so far, American Home Shield has backed all of the ones I've had and it's been a good experience.

    The claim process is straightforward but I'm not a huge fan of the fact that it's all automated at the outset. Being a homeowner, you're likely going through something stressful because something's broken in your brand-new home. Having to do it through an automated phone system, though it worked and we got to where we needed to go, felt a little crummy and impersonal. Also, I live in a very sort of hot place and since we only got a choice of one contractor, we didn't have the ability to see if anybody was available sooner. It would have been nice to be able to say, "Here's three places that would be covered under your policy. Reach out and find the one that can get there as quickly as you can."

    The garage door was not working. I put in a ticket and American Home Shield assigned the contractor. The gentlemen came out the next day. He was extremely prompt. He came and got it fixed. I have the highest regard for him because he did a very good job. Everything is working good now. My experience with American Home Shield has been different from time to time. This claim was good. But I had a claim before where they sent a contractor that never showed up for days. I had to call American Home Shield and they said the contractor will come. It took almost 10 days for American Home Shield to assign another guy to come and do the work. So that was a bad experience.

    When I put in a ticket, American Home Shield should get somebody. I don't want to hear any explanation that they did not find anybody to fix my problem. It happened in the past twice. American Home Shield assigned my claim to one person but nobody called me. So I called that person's number and he told me, “No, we don't do this service anymore.” I called back American Home Shield and they said, “No, he's the one.” I told them that I called him and he said he was not going to come. Then American Home Shield said they were assigning the claim again. It went on for weeks and then they said they would get somebody else. I was very unhappy. At one point, I thought I will cancel my contract because there was no point in giving 700 bucks a year when I didn't get service.

    You have to through a lot of red tape to deal with American Home Shield. There's a long wait time on the phone and there are times the customer service representatives don't know what's going on. It's pretty frustrating. They don't read the notes correctly and they sent the wrong service provider out. Two years ago, I had an issue when I had a written claim but I was charged for a couple of encounters when the issue wasn't fixed. I just got the runaround a lot.

    Whoever I talk to at American Home Shield was great. But my only concern was, I was so confused for a while because I made a claim and contracted him, and after that, the communication went unclear. They were supposed to send the new stock. I got the email and expected that they call me. I said, “Okay.” They would bring it and were supposed to switch old one out. The guy who brought it in said, “No. We don't do those things. You have to call your contractor.” They could have eliminated those steps. Whoever they contract should take care of it. I called them and made the appointment but I didn't know I have to call the contractor. Other than that, they did a good job. They were professionals and on time. I was very happy with them. I'm not a handyman. When something is down, I don't even worry about it. I call and they take care of it.

    Our air conditioner was not cooling. Last week, the contractor came out and said that it was a leak somewhere and they put in a refrigerant. It took until almost dark before it cooled the house down. Then, it happened again on Saturday. I called American Home Shield Saturday evening and they had assigned someone else. But then I called them yesterday and told them that this was the same thing that was happening last week and that I did not want a new person coming out here. They canceled the other company and sent Legum back out here. It's not finished yet. They have to come back tomorrow or in a couple of days to do some more work. I like the ease that I can get a claim started with having a home warranty. Unfortunately, a lot of times, things go on on the weekend and that could make it a little more difficult.

    When I submitted a claim for a water leak, I got a response and was even able to schedule the initial visit by the technician on that day. The technician came out this past Monday to look around and get the information to submit to American Home Shield for the approval. My only issue is the fact that I still haven't heard anything back from American Home Shield or the vendor and my situation is still not fixed. That part I'm not too happy about. Everything else has been good but a faster response time, especially when it's something like a water leak that could potentially cost quite a bit of money on the water bill if we don't get it rectified pretty soon, would be good. We're guesstimating about 400 gallons a day that's leaking. Now, we're on day five so that's 2,000 gallons of water that is going to be added to my bill as of this point.

    I did have another claim and American Home Shield sent a technician out. But when the technician gave their quote, it was less than the deductible. It wouldn't have mattered and they wouldn't have covered it anyway. But the process was fine as far as getting the technician out here to do the initial evaluation.

    I’ve had two companies through American Home Shield who had outstanding technicians, and I wish there was some application that you could check if there was a company that was favorable to you or that you like. These guys that came by the other day were knowledgeable. They were truly professional. They explained what they were doing, the remedy and how things happen. If had to do it again, I will prefer them. But when you put the request in, Home Shield sends out who's the next on the block. I understand how they do that but when you got technicians who you got a little rapport with, I think that should be something that should be available. As far as AHS, sometimes, depending on the work level, you get instant feedback. Sometimes, you get it a couple days later. I know there’s a 48-hour window when you do your request, but maybe the turnaround could be a little quicker.

    Submitting claims over the phone takes longer than I would like, but doing it online works. Recently, I told my wife I couldn't figure out the issue with our AC on my own. AC in Florida ​in the summer is needed and she said, “Better go and get that in.” She did a claim, and the next thing we knew, we got a text and then the appointment was scheduled promptly. It all went smooth. I knew what to expect as well as when to expect the AC company, and they were professional, showed up on time and did the job. Luckily for me, it was just the thermostat on the wall, which was an easy fix. All in all, American Home Shield has improved over the years, and it's working good.     We bought our house in 2019 and we haven't rekeyed it. We needed to do that. We did a device request with AHS and that worked well. The tech was a gentleman. He was kind and professional. He let us know some things that we could do to improve our lock system. He couldn't do all of the locks but he did enough to keep us secure.

    When AHS sends out a vendor and it doesn't work the first time, they should send a different technician or a different company. I'm having a claim now where the company says, AHS denied the claim and the company can't come out. I've been back and forth with that for the last two days. I'm calling back to follow up on that. Other than that, it is pretty self-explanatory on the website which things you can combine as far as one service call. In the long run, having the home warranty saves money although you don't see it because it's $100 per claim.

    Our air conditioner wasn't cooling the upstairs. My wife did the claim to American Home Shield. We've never had a problem with the website. We like it. Home Shield told me who would be coming and approximately what time they would be here. The one who came has been here before and I really like him. He’s a very nice fellow. There was nothing he could do though. It's a two-story house, and the air is coming up there but it's just not cooling. He said it's the same with every house.     When submitting a claim with AHS, it is better to go online and file it there. It's 10 times faster. There were times where I've tried to call them to do a claim and the person was harder to understand. So I always just go online and do it now. Recently, in our house, on the second floor, we had a drain that got clogged up. And it happened to run through the AC unit. Water was filling up the sink and had spilled on the floor in the bathroom, and was dripping through the top of the ceiling. I was able to get it unstopped so that it would drain properly, but I wanted someone to check that to make sure that it was fine, and just understand where the water was coming from. Because I didn't know the AC was flowing to that sink. We were seeing an issue with cold water on one of our sinks as well. The tech that AHS sent was able to fix that. It turned out that the cold water was turned off there. He flipped it back on and explained that to me.

    Then we have some weak water pressure at times when multiple things are running at the same time, like a bath in one room, and then trying to use the sink in another. So I asked him about that as well. He said that's how the house was built as far as the plumbing. So he couldn't do anything about that. I was fine with the service.

    I've had the twice a year recommendation cleaning and servicing. The AC had a couple of repairs prior. I mostly call in and talk to a live rep. I just like speaking with a live person.     So far, I've had all good experiences with American Home Shield. Recently, I was having some issues with my air conditioner not giving any cold air. I called in a claim to see if there was anything wrong and American Home Shield got back with me really fast. I was able to pay my service fee over the phone and they contracted it out quickly. The contractor is still working on some things. They're not sure if there's something wrong on their install of the new unit. Whenever they checked on it, I told them that the air didn't feel as cold again. At one point, it wasn't blowing any cold. They came back out on their own to check it out and they're going to come back today to see if there's a leak anywhere that happened whenever they did their install.

    The contractor came out the next day after I filed the claim for the AC. They were great. They showed up on time. They got right back with us. They had to order the part and then they came out on Saturday. They couldn't resolve the problem then, and they said they'd be back on Monday. They were here prompt Monday morning and they worked a good eight hours on it.

    I've had good experience with American Home Shield except with my dishwasher. It took three months to get it resolved. They were gonna send somebody out and then, the contractor said they didn't work this area. Then American Home Shield sent me another message that they were gonna send somebody else out. But the contractor didn't serve this area. American Home Shield kept sending me Roadrunner Appliance, who said they didn't serve this area. Finally, they came out but it wasn't repairable. American Home Shield sent me a message stating that it wasn't repairable and that I could either order it through them or get it on my own. I decided to get the dishwasher on my own. American Home Shield said they would send me out a check and that it would take about 21 days. I waited and waited, but nothing.

    I called back American Home Shield and they gave me this line, “Well, you gotta purchase it first. And then, you send in your receipt and everything, and then we reimburse you.” I told the rep that was not what they said. He said, “Well, that's what we do.” So I went around and around with that person. Then he said, “Well, we don't have any record of that.” I told him I have a record and that I have the email.     I've had American Home Shield for about 16 years and I find them to be very responsive. I normally submit the service request online and get a response immediately or within 24 hours with a recommended vendor. It's an easy process.     My icemaker wasn't working properly and it was dripping water out onto the floor. It was also creating a backup of ice and I was getting some in the refrigerator itself. If I put certain things to the back of my fridge, they would freeze. It was really annoying. Also, my dishwasher wouldn't start sometimes. Other times, it would run but it wouldn't finish the cycle. I called AHS and I got an email from them saying that it had been assigned and that someone would be in touch with me. The first person they assigned got cancelled and I didn't get notified. The company doesn't do Samsung. That was kind of irritating. Then, they sent Total Appliance Service.

    The guy who came was really awesome but I put in another call because I need him to come back. The icemaker is still leaking. I haven't seen anyone yet and I think they were supposed to come this week. I'm gonna call the contractor and find out if I misunderstood when they said they were coming but I thought they were supposed to come this past Wednesday.

    American Home Shield sent someone out to fix my AC, and it was a great experience. But during the freeze here earlier this year, we had some issues with our pool pump. We pay about $100 a month for the warranty and it said our pool equipment was covered. One of the valves had burst. But American Home Shield said it was associated with the freeze, so they didn't want to cover it. We were disappointed about that because if you've had the coverage for the past eight months, that's $800 that we've invested in the warranty and it was somewhat unfair to find a stipulation why not to cover a $150 job. We had to fix the things ourselves. The other thing is that it seems sometimes, the legitimacy of things changes based on the circumstances. It seemed like anything that was brought up weeks or a month after was still being related to the freeze. It's not the way it should be. If you're covered, you're covered.

    More Than Plumbing came out and investigated the area for my recent claim. It was really one or two things that it could be, it's either a clogged line or it's a broken line. Since the line is technically broken, the sump pump is working overtime. They were nice fellas. They reached out to me beforehand to let me know they were coming, which I appreciated. They seemed like they knew what they were doing. The one fella was training another fella. They said that somebody was going to call me from the insurance and verify if it's covered. Then, they said something about their boss making a final inspection to determine exactly what it is. There was nothing that the fellas could really do because it required one of those video cameras to go in there to see what's going on.

    They said I had to talk with American Home Shield. Because we're going to extend our service and I didn't want to mess anything up because I realized this may be a claim on my previous service.     I had plumbers out previously and they charged me $234 and they said I had to pay for them to take my toilet off and put it back on. I asked why I have to pay because I paid my deductible and you pay so you don't have to pay anything else. So, I don't understand why I had to pay and I’m upset about that. I'm not supposed to pay anything. I called American Home Shield and they told me that they would check into it and get back to me but I haven't heard anything.     Submitting the claim for the AC was difficult. The first person I spoke with at American Home Shield said that we owe them $75, which I said, "If that's the case, I'll be more than happy to pay it." She took my payment and then told me, “It will be two days until it posts, so you can't get service until two days from now. We can't put the claim in." To which I was irate about because it made absolutely no sense to me. I will admit that I was not nice to her. But she had no interest of helping us. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said there was none available. However, I did get a call back from a supervisor, and we resolved the situation. This happened on a Saturday and then on Sunday, we could get service.

    The tech from Myers Comfort was able to get the AC up and running. The only issue was that I also said that our thermostat on the second floor wasn't working properly and the tech told me, “If it goes on and off, there's nothing we can do about it.” Then on Monday, I called Myers Comfort to ask them about it and they sent someone over yesterday who replaced the thermostat.

    T Mayes Plumbing recently came out for my plumbing issue. The tech was professional and fixed the problem. One of the best ones that I’ve seen. He just walked in and knew what he was doing. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was replaced. American Home Shield jumps on it when I submit a claim, but it takes a while. We’ve had heating and air conditioning units over the years, and sometimes can take two weeks for them to get out there. If I say to them, “I can’t wait till next week.” Then, the contractor automatically cancels the appointment, which allows me to go back to American Home Shield and then they’ll assign another one.     Our downstairs unit wouldn't shut off and it constantly ran. A tech came and he fixed something outside, but the unit still constantly ran afterward so I had to call American Home Shield back. They sent somebody out again and the guy's name was Josh. He was with Carolina Air. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. It turned out the issue had something to do with the thermostat. Josh happened to have the part in his truck. Before when you have issues with the heating or air conditioning system, people coming out would say it was a part and that they would need to order it. That would be another week of burning up for the part to come in then for them to set an appointment. But in this case, Josh fixed the unit and it has been great since then.

    I had to call American Home Shield again because our upstairs unit was not blowing and it was 80 degrees. I thought the unit was gone because my husband said it froze up and it was just bad. The unit was also 20 years old. I paid my $107 and American Home Shield set up an appointment. It ended up being the same place and the same guy. Carolina Air gave us instructions to thaw the unit which we did. Josh came Thursday last week. I asked him to tell me what the damage was and I was going for my checkbook. He held out the part that was burned up and he told me that he fixed the unit. He had the part with him in his truck.

    The only thing with American Home Shield was I had trouble getting a person from there. Also, accents can make a lot of difference for a person that’s hearing-impaired. I don't hear well and a lot of times, the reps that answer have an accent and it makes it really hard for me to understand. There was also a time I called and the lady that answered had dogs in the background. I had to keep having her repeat herself. Other than that, American Home Shield has been good to us. I told people about them. When lightning hit our place, it took out one of our neighbor's TVs. It also hit the pump in their Sleep Number bed. I told our neighbor about American Home Shield and how it's something to check out. The home warranty company has been really good to us.

One issue I had with the home warranty was with vendors following up if you had to order a part or you were waiting for a part. In the past, vendors would be able to order parts.     The agent was very knowledgeable, timely, communicated extremely well and followed up. You don't get that kind of stuff from technical support, just computers and everything. So, it was surprisingly a good experience with him. He truly understands customer service feedback and all those kinds of things. Even outside of AHS, I would recommend this guy to a friend or somebody, to say, "Hey, look. This guy right here is a sharp guy." What I got caught by surprise with was it forces me to go back and look again, to whereas I had to buy so many pounds of Freon, to go in my AC. And that the company will only pay $10 towards it. So, I found that a little bit disappointing. Other than that, everything went okay. The house was cool after almost a week.

    Make sure that you ask a lot of questions when you get ready to buy. And to ask a lot of questions on them if you have to file a claim. Because if I had known I had to pay for eight pounds of Freon in there, and it was a policy rider, I would have considered adding it on because it wouldn't have increased the monthly fees for AHS.

    If the person that you're working with, to secure coverage is rushing, ask to speak to somebody else who has time to talk and explain everything about the policy that they chose. And then, to recommend. You have your options there. For example, they would say, "How old is your home?" "My home is 20 years old." "Have you had any problems with your AC lately?" "I don't know." "Whatever you asked for any major problems?" "No, I have not." "So, these are the plans." "Well, I choose plan A." "Well, let me have you think about this right here also. You may wanna try plan B, because your home is a certain age and things and you had no problems. Maybe something is going to happen. But it's up to you. But I just thought I would in full disclosure let you know that."

    And then vice versa, if you had a new home, “How long you had your home?” “Two years.” “Okay. Well, you can have all these things right here, more than likely a lot of that right there may or may not happen and stuff. So, there's a risk that you have to take. You may want to consider this one here, but the ultimate choice is yours.” Like that when you're doing it. And I know that the agent can't tell you which one to buy, but they sure can explain different things, so that you could make sure that you're getting the coverage that you needed to get.

    It makes me now wonder about my coverage. I have a refrigerator that's relatively new. It’s three years old. And same thing for cooktops. But if something were to go wrong with my refrigerator, say it collapsed, the motor went out or the ice machine broke, is it covered? How much is it covered for? What are the exclusions? I have to go back and take a closer look at that, to make sure that I have the entire coverage. I like non-headache. I like people come in, do they have to do and go, even if there's a small deductible with it. Take your deductible. Now fix this and go.

    I called in the early evening to submit a claim with AHS. The next day, the tech came out and he repaired it. It was just that quick and easy. I've had good experiences but I had extremely bad experiences as well with AHS. I had a hot water heater that needed to be replaced. The gentleman came out and gave me information that was absolutely incorrect. Wanted to charge me an exorbitant fee for the information that was incorrect and American Home Shield seemed very cavalier about it when I informed them of it. I've had a couple of other people on the same thing. So, the people that they use are not as reputable as I would think they would be. But then again, I had other people as reputable as I could ever want them to be. But I've had more not quite great experiences than I had great experiences.

    The plumber fixed the problem but the stool is a piece of crap. When the plumber came out, he said he'd replace it. He fixed it where I can hold it and hold it down. It works, but when you flush, you really shouldn't have to sit there and watch it and hold the handle down. The first plumber that came out said the stool was clogged up. That guy was a joke. But the last plumber messed up something in there. He said, "Just hold it down when you flush it." The technicians should listen to the customer instead of taking the money and running.

    If something goes wrong, my tenants call me and say, this and this is happening, then I either call American Home Shield or go online.     We just moved back from overseas, and we rented the house out for two years. And when we got back on Thursday, the downstairs AC was working, but not the upstairs unit.     The light on the ceiling fan flashes on and off and we've had the electrician out six times looking at it. He kept telling us it was the light bulb and we kept changing the light bulb. Then, he said the remote was not good. At that point, it was just like whatever. Then, I had them come out and look at the other fans because they make so much noise and they said that there's not much they can do about it. Today, my husband told me the fan only spins one way and he said he doesn't know if he wanna spend a $75 deductible for the electrician to tell him that there's nothing wrong with the fan.

    Other than that, every time I've called, AHS has pretty much fixed the issue. My oven went out that they sent an oven guy out for and he said the oven was fine. It ended up being the electrical outlet went bad and they fixed that. Then, we had a leak under the floor and they found out that it was the caulking in the tub. Water was going in there, coming out, and getting under the floorboard. It needed to be recaulked. They cut a hole in the wall and they patched it, but they didn't paint it or anything. Also, we had Orr HVAC come out for the AC and they're really great. We're waiting for a part but they got the unit working.

    My AC stopped cooling so I put in a service request with American Home Shield. I called the contractor at about 7 or 8 o'clock on the day of service. They answered and gave me an arrival time between 10 and 2 o'clock. Their service guy came out about 11 o'clock and fixed the issue. All in all, everything has been pretty good so far.

    AHS usually calls pretty high quality technicians that are good at figuring out what the problems are. That's the number one reason I really stay with the program. I like the people that come out. AHS is timely. They really adapt electronically now, and you can follow the contractors when they send you the message they're on their way, so you know who's coming. That's really nice when you're the only one home. I liked it. AHS is great. The only thing is that they have very expensive annual fees. I don't mind the $75 deductible but every year, it goes up more and more for no additional coverage. I understand the rise in salaries, but it's almost to the point of too much.

    We had an issue with a 5 ton HVAC/ Air Conditioner system. Placed a call to AHS get the AC serviced. AHS sent out a company to repair. That company informed me I needed new coil. This company put a 3.5 ton coil in a 5 ton unit. When I looked at the service invoice I informed the company they had put the wrong equipment in. The service tech agreed. Called his boss to get approval and his boss said no. According to the company AHS sent out: "The system is working and that is all that matters and that this how AHS works. Your system is working for now so your ticket is closed. I don't really care what your invoice says". It broke down the entire system in 2 weeks.

    I placed a new call and $75 dollars more. AHS sent out a new company to repair the same system. This company sent in the service request telling AHS all the issues the first company had done to our home. The second company told AHS that the first company they had screwed up the coil, wiring, attic door, plumbing for drains and the list goes on. Again pointing out the first company put a 3.5 ton coil in a 5 ton unit.

    AHS reviewed the comments from the second company and denied our claim - Said our unit was under capacity and somehow that was my fault. So we place multiple calls, trying to get this issue resolved. AHS kept telling me I would get a callback. Never did. FYI - This has now been going on for over 2 months.

    I was then told I would receive a buyout for the issue on the coil. "I would get a call from the correct department". Guess what - Never got a call. I called them and I was told that my request was denied because my system was under capacity. The person on the phone again could not even tell me what that actually meant. The AHS reps only goal was to say "Oh I am so sorry to hear about this" and try to get me off the phone.

    So bottom line - AHS does not stand behind any of the companies they send out. AHS will do what they can to wait you out so you give up. So in closing - I would not trust American Home Shield to do anything, let alone send someone out to fix anything in my home. I am not sure which is worse - The company AHS sent out to fix my AC or AHS for sending them out. BOTH ARE BEYOND INCOMPETENT and ETHICALLY CHALLENGED! DO NOT USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!

    AHS is usually very quick to provide me with a response anytime I reach out. My only complaint is the wait for typical supply and demand delays. I'm having an AC issue right now and the contractor had to order a part and I had to get scheduled. But I understand I can't schedule something when they don't have the part in hand. Other than that, I absolutely love the service. It’s always been super easy and convenient. I just recently referred them to my mother and sister and they all signed up.

    The air conditioning was not working and Richard, the gentleman from the company that was assigned, C & R Plumbing and Heating, said that he did not get a number that he needed to come out for the claim. But he said he'd come out anyway. I have a 91-year old mother in the house and it was a concern. We needed somebody ASAP and he was here within an hour.

    I called AHS when he was on his way here and I got the claim number. He got here and I went to give it to him but he had already received it via email or text. The issue turned out to be a blown fuse in the back outside the house. He went ahead and corrected that as well as put something in to help in the future in case that happened.

    When I filed an AC claim, the service company directly called me and made a very quick appointment. When the technician was on his way, I had received a message telling me about the expected time and when it was time, the technician showed up. He did a very thorough check on the air conditioner and helped us fix the problem. Then, I had a washer claim and when the technician is very close to the house, he called me. But I was not with my smartphone at that time, so he left a message. He came into the house to check the washer and quickly identified the problem. It was convenient and quality service that I received. The people that were out were very patient.     American Home Shield responds fast. They contact whoever the service may be for right away and the contractor would get in touch right away as well. There's never a long delay. Recently, I had two issues going on. When I turned on the faucet on my shower in the second bathroom, it wasn't going over to the hot water side. The shower technician was informative, and he replaced something that was broken. The other issue was my microwave wasn't heating, and the appliance guy had to replace a part for that. He was a short, matter-of-fact kind of guy and I didn't like his attitude, but he got the job done. That's all I can ask for and so far, they're working good. Without American Home Shield, I would be paying out a lot of money for services other than a deductible.

    When I do the laundry, the washing machine backs up to the laundry drain. When I called in the claim, it took the contractor two weeks to came out. When they were here, they ran a snake through it. Then they ran water through it from the hose that goes to the washing machine and it seemed okay. But as soon as I plugged the washing machine back up and did a load of laundry, the pressure from the pump was going too fast, and it backed up again. Now it's gonna take them another two weeks to come out. It seems like an awful long time for them to come out here and fix it. But I understand because of where I live, they have certain days they come out here and certain days they don't. I'm 50 miles away from them and we're out in the desert. But overall, I’m happy with American Home Shield. I call them when I have a claim and the most I’ve had to wait was five minutes.

    I have two addresses and I've used American Home Shield in both. The quality of service technicians that they are using now is not up to the same standards that they were a couple of years ago. Gator Plumbing is the exception. They were fast, courteous, and prompt. They arrived ahead of schedule, they had the parts on their truck, and we were up and going the next day. They did a good job and they were as American Home Shield used to be. I had a service call at the same address and the people who came were the opposite of Gator Plumbing. They may have been to my house repeatedly, and I've paid American Home Shield a couple of times over the last six months. They were horrible.

    We are going to stay with American Home Shield, but I wish they would improve calling in claims. You can hardly do it over the phone unless you put it on speaker, walk away for 45 minutes, come back and then do something else. It’s very frustrating, especially if you get someone that does not understand you or you don't understand them. It makes it difficult.

    When I have tried to call in, if I might have a multiple problem and try to explain it to them, it's someone that isn't in the field at all and they don't even understand what I'm talking about when I'm mentioning something. It's not like I'm coming up with other vernacular either. I'm using the words that's right off the website. American Home Shield used to be better about that a couple of years ago as well. On the internet, the only part that’s lacking is you can't do a multiple service. If you want an electrical outlet and the garbage disposal checked at the same time, that's not gonna happen on the internet. You can only do one specific thing.

    American Home Shield said if they couldn't fix my appliance, they would get me another one. They did that on the TV but I had to come up with extra money out of my pocket when they couldn't fix it. They didn't come through like I thought they would. They just gave me a couple hundred dollars and I had to come up with the rest of the money to replace the TV that they couldn't fix. There was a dishwasher also. The contractor said it needed some other pipe underneath it. They said I had the wrong pipe. They had to have some kind of dual piping but I had to pay $30 extra to put that on or they weren't going to fix it. But this time, American Home Shield came through. They sent someone that knew what they were doing.

I just went on American Home Shield's webpage, selected a category, and wrote down what was wrong with my unit. They sent me back an email and a text telling me who was going to work on it. The AC guy called me at 12:40 and said he was 10 minutes away. When he showed up, I told him what happened and he knew exactly what was going on with it. He said, “Oh, it's the condenser.” He went out, pulled the cover off (which took the longest), plugged a new condenser in, turned it on and it worked.

    When it rained, I had a leak coming to my dining room from upstairs. I told American Home Shield what the issue was, paid the fee, and then waited for somebody to come out. The contractor came out the next day and the guy that did the service is fine. I was kinda taken aback because they said AHS doesn't cover secondary damage. They didn’t cover the entire thing and I had to call my homeowners insurance.

    Other than that, AHS is good. When I bought my home, the refrigerator was working fine but when we were in the home, the refrigerator was no longer cold. They decided I would get a refrigerator and they replaced it with a brand-new one. Another time, my stove was old and they sent a repair person out. The repair person said that the part that was needed is no longer made. AHS sent me to find a stove and then put a new stove in. They're wonderful in replacing appliances when they can't be repaired. They take care of the customer.

    I called American Home Shield and decided to get the stove fixed. It was a very smooth transition getting everything fixed. A contractor called the day before and called the morning of to say they were able to come out. Then they called 30 minutes before that they were gonna be there. The only thing that was a little difficult was when I called the hotline to get services started, because we had not had a previous claim, it said every account was inactive. I didn't understand that since we had paid for the year in full.

    I was having an issue with the garbage disposal. American Home Shield sent someone out, and the garbage disposal was working when he left. It seemed like it was just stuck. I've used American Home Shield a lot, and the overall claim process is usually very smooth. The only issues I've ever had are if I haven't had the contractors scheduled promptly. Once, I had an issue with that. I was reassigned a different contractor and it was great.

    The only thing is working with GE when they come to do repairs is often difficult. American Home Shield uses them to repair their actual GE appliances, but as a company, they're not super-easy to work with for repairs. So, I am continuously trying to get them to fix the dishwasher that I have. It's not working more than it's working. The techs will say that the dishwasher is not a very good model. The last time, they had parts shipped here, and then the tech hasn’t been back to install it.

    The screen on the refrigerator to push the buttons was fading. Sometimes we can see the letters and the numbers on it, sometimes we can't. I called American Home Shield and I had issues because I didn't know how to make the claim. The woman said, "Oh, we can just do it over the phone and we can take the payment." They made it very easy. With everything that I have going on in life, health and finances, it was very weight lifting.

    The individuals that came out were here in the timeframe they said they were going to be. They had a little map that even let me see where they were at. When they came out, the screen was clear. They said they had to order some thing and replace that part. There were some concerns that I had to have the microwave fixed. They explained to me what the issue was with it and why I was thinking something different. So they seemed very attentive. Their interaction was very good.     I've had American Home Shield on previous houses and it was easier to work with a customer service person that I could talk to than submit a claim online. Because I could tell them what's going on instead of paying $75 for the trip fee and having somebody come out and say, “I can't touch any of this. This isn't part of your warranty,” or “I can't help you with whatever it is that we were trying to accomplish.” So, that's a little frustrating. But it’s been fine.

    Recently, there were a couple of lights in the kitchen that wasn't lighting. I had a contractor out working on the house, and he said that there was no electricity going to the can. Then, the gentleman who came from Turner Electric did his thing and he used a tool. He said that there was electricity going into the can. That solved that problem. So, it was just a matter of trying to figure out why we couldn't get the lights to go and we figured that down the road and he got that going.

    I also showed him a box that was not working properly. When the contractor came out to change the light there, he said he kept getting shocked. So, I showed him that. He wasn't gonna touch that because it was on the outside of the house. Then, I said, “Obviously the wires are moving through the house. There's something wrong if this gentleman keeps getting shocked when he's working on this box, and he wouldn't look at it.” But he looked at the panel and said the panel needs to be upgraded.

    We had a disposal sink in the kitchen that stopped up. Patriot Plumbing was the first contractor assigned by American Home Shield. They came out and they started with the Studor vent. They ordered the part, came back about a week later, and put it in. But I still had a stoppage and the water wouldn’t drain. The technician thought that one of the HVAC system trunk lines was leaning on the pipe and bending it. This was keeping the sink from draining sufficiently.

    This time, M & Holmes was assigned by American Home Shield. A technician came out about a week later. He strapped up the trunk line from the HVAC system. He took some of the pressure off the pipe and that was supposed to alleviate the draining. But it didn't. Patriot Plumbing came back out again. They looked at the problem and they claimed that maybe the strapping of that vent needed to be increased even more. They said they’ll try to strap it up again using two people where one person would be holding and the other strapping. I haven't heard back from Patriot Plumbing. This blockage has been going on for over a month now. I was in the process now of finding American Home Shield’s phone number to call them back and find out what the status is. I'm really displeased with American Home Shield and this whole process. They excitedly take my check every month so they need to excitedly fix this problem.

    I'm assuming I'm one of many stops of the first plumber. When a contractor’s dealing with a third company like American Home Shield, they gotta take pictures of whatever they find, send it back for authorization, and get approval. You can almost forget about something being fixed the first day, if it’s other than running a snake or a plunger. Anything that seems to be needing a part, further evaluation, diagnosis, or any manual labor, it's not gonna happen. American Home Shield contracts out with these companies for a set fee and you're gonna get pretty much the basic services. The contractors know that if they put more effort into it or it costs higher a month, they are still only getting a fixed price. American Home Shield is a big business and the entire process is a machine. For things that nature, you probably should just pay for your services as you go. You can probably get better services dealing with contractors.

    The timing was very good. It was for an air conditioner. I had to wait a couple of days. But everything they did, they came in, they checked my unit. It ended up not being an issue. But the tech is keeping it open in case it happens again. But American Home Shield did a really good job. And even in the middle of a heatwave. I called Wednesday or Thursday. They were out that Monday. And that wasn’t bad. Especially when the tech said, “I have a cancellation, July 5th.” I said, “Aren't you guys supposed to be on a holiday?” And he said, “We gotta work.” I said, “I'm there then.” He was very good. When we used to have to call in, it was painful. But the way we do it now, it's awesome.

    I’m very happy with everything that American Home Shield does for me. I’ve been a single woman living in the house for almost 11 years since my divorce. And I wouldn't have known how to do anything. My refrigerator went and the next thing I knew, I went and picked one out. AHS brought it in and took the other one out.     The technician told me that it would be about seven to ten business days for my components to come in. After about two weeks, I had to reach back out to him to see what the status was of the order. I called him on a Saturday and he called me back a few hours later, ready to schedule an appointment to install the part. It led me to believe that he had the part and hadn't made the call yet to get my part installed yet. Maybe it's coincidence or maybe the part just arrived but that was the only questionable aspect of it all. Otherwise, the service was great. He was timely, friendly and professional, so I have no concerns there. I've had a good experience so far with American Home Shield. It's very easy to submit the request but if they want to charge cheaper rates, I'd be great.

    T.J. Plumbing came out for a hot water tank. I waited a couple of weeks and the plumber said that the elements in the hot water tank was going. I also had one incident with American Home Shield where they repaired my AC unit. It just was fixed Tuesday. Last year, I was having problems with my furnace. I wound up having to fork out $700 because I couldn't wait to get it fixed. I have an autistic daughter so I had to go with somebody else and it cost me $700. American Home Shield referred a guy, but he couldn't tell me when he was gonna get out to the house, and I was kinda bothered a bit. I spoke to American Home Shield and indicated that there has to be a faster response time during the wintertime for major stuff like furnaces. But I have referred American Home Shield to about five family members already. One of my police officer buddies just signed up today

    Liberty Appliance did a great job. It was waiting on the part that took a while but when they got it, they came right out. So, it was quick. It would be nice though if smaller parts that are commonly replaced were on stock instead of having to order and wait for that part. The service with American Home Shield is cost-effective. It's good for people so they don't have to come out and pay for the entire repair or replacement on their own. We had a successful repair on our refrigerator and our dryer could not be repaired, and so we replaced it. I'm happy with the replacement.

    The claim process was really easy and quick. The longest thing was being on hold and waiting to talk to somebody. I waited 30 minutes. I ended up having American Home Shield call me back. Heart of Texas came out had and they were really professional. They explained what needed to be done, what would be covered, and what wouldn't be covered. They ordered the part for me and got it done. I really liked this Heart of Texas company and they have a great relationship with American Home Shield.

    I had a prior contractor that American Home Shield sent out. There was a total of three times that they were sent out for the same air conditioner but for different things to do with it. I ended up calling American Home Shield and telling them that I wanted this particular contractor removed from my provider list. I didn’t want them ever to come back to my house. American Home Shield did that after I told them to. That aside, American Home Shield was worth the money.

    The ac was blowing warm air. When it would shut off at night, it would go “Boom!” And then it would go, “Whreeehrr whreeehrr whreeehrr.” You could hear it vibrating in the walls. I said, “This is crazy.” The contractor was there in no time. I'm familiar with air conditioning. The tech and I talked and I told him what I figured it was and he agreed and went up on the roof. I could hear him working up there. I went back in because it was a little hot, and he came in. I could tell he was done because I could feel the cool air starting. He checked the things on the inside, and we talked a bit and we had cool air.

    In having a home warranty, I like that you have somebody who's got your back. However, I had a little problem with American Home Shield. I called about a plumbing problem. It was the toilet. I paid my $75 and she said, “We'll get somebody out there.” So I figured it would be quick. I waited and waited but nobody showed up. There was some confusion because it got to the point where I called the plumber myself, Lee's Plumbing. He said, “Well, I didn't get any information from American Home Shield.” And I was like, “What the heck?”

    It went back and forth a while and nothing happened. Finally, I called AHS. I said, “Hey, I paid $75. What's happening?” “Well, we're having problems finding a vendor or a repairman.” And I said, “Well, What's wrong with Lee’s Plumbing? He was here once before and did a fantastic job.” “Well, I'll have to clear it with my dispatcher and let you know.” And I said, “Oh, well, whatever. Whatever your guidelines are. But he did a fantastic job last time. He has already fixed the faucet.” I waited and waited and called back. I was ready to tell them to refund my $75 and I'll find a plumber myself to get it done. But I thought that that's kind of stupid. I paid for a home warranty and I'm going to go and get my own plumber and they should be helping me.

    Finally, they must have got ahold of him. I said, “Look, I talked to Lee's and he said he can and will do the job.” I told the AHS lady. All of a sudden, this lady agreed. It was a different lady. That sure was a lot of going around in a circle. It only happened one time, but I I hope this isn’t how it's going to be if I have another claim somewhere down the road. I had one good interaction, and the next one was terrible. I got a different lady and she got on the ball. The tech sent me a text message and said that he would be at my house in the next couple of days. That was great! I was mad because I thought I was getting bounced around here. It wasn't a good experience. But that is the first time, and anybody can make a mistake.

    I can't get into my American Home Shield account. It says my password is wrong. And then they said they'll send me a code. But when I go to their website, I put my password in and it says it's wrong. So here we are again. I can't get across to them because I can't get my password in there. That's a mix-up. I’m going to be 68 years old and I'm not tech savvy. I really don't want to be, because we were the product of a couple of scams so I just don't want any more than I have to have. I don't want any new accounts. It's just one little problem and I can deal with that.

    The techs came out to fix a leak. They looked for where the leak was. They found it, but they haven't scheduled to fix it. So, it's still leaking. I'm not very happy. They isolated it and said, "Yeah. The hot water pipe is leaking at the valve in the master bedroom. And we'll put it on the schedule to get it fixed." That was about four days ago, and I haven't heard a word.

    We called American Home Shield to submit the claim and that was easy, but getting them to fix it is a whole another world. I have four policies with them. On the same property, I had an air conditioning problem. It went out, and they wouldn't fix it. The quote was like $4,000 and they only wanted to pay 1,500. We just settled it. They wrote me a check for 1,500, and I had my air conditioning guy fix it. Our experience was terrible. I'm gonna renew all four of my policies at the 1st of the month with another company.

    The fan of my GE double oven wasn't working so the whole oven wouldn't work. Technicians came out three times. They were both very friendly and professional. On the first visit, the technician diagnosed the oven and ordered a part. When the part came in, it was broken so the technician had to leave again. He back came back last Friday and installed the part. The oven is working fine now.

    American Home Shield is very transparent and easy. Their process is streamlined. A couple of months ago, I added another property to my contract.     True Air Solutions came out due to our air conditioner not working. The guy that came out, Anthony, was knowledgeable and very courteous. The only thing was he said 30 minutes and it took them about a bit over an hour. Other than that, I like True Air Solutions. I've dealt with them about two years ago when our AC went out. Also, I've been with American Home Shield for about three or four years now and I haven't had any issues with them. If I have a question and they can't answer it, they usually transfer me over to a different agent and if they can't answer it, somebody would give me a call back and it's not a long time that I'm waiting. And if something happens and I don't want to make a phone call, all I gotta do is jump onto their website and go ahead and click and put everything in there.

    It was easy to call in with American Home Shield, open a case, and get the right people to do it. But the first one was bad. I still have a problem on my HVAC. It has almost been three weeks. The vendor has not even reached back at all. So we probably need to find a different vendor. I plan to call over the weekend. On the other hand, The second one was awesome. They came back the next day, and they had to fix one of the motor assemblies on the garage door. They did a very good job on that. Adam was superb. He knew what he was going to do.     I like to call AHS to talk to somebody when I submit claims because a lot of times when I go on the internet, it doesn’t have exactly what the problem is. There are certain things I can tell a person that I can’t tell a machine. I submitted a claim online once before. It was on the refrigerator and the guy came out here looking for the wrong thing on the refrigerator because of what I put in online. It was a case of miscommunication between me and the computer.

    Also, I've had people come out before who do not know what they were doing. They started working on something that wasn't the problem and then had to have other people come back out. But the Infinity Home Solutions' guy who came out for the air conditioning unit was very knowledgeable. He checked out the air conditioning unit itself and he went upstairs to our furnace. He made comparison checks and everything else that he needed to check. There was a relay in the furnace that had gone bad so he took that out. He went out to his truck, got a relay, and put it in. He got the air conditioning unit working and once the machine was running, he made sure there's enough coolant in there. He was out and gone in about 45 minutes.

    We were concerned about the condition and performance of our air conditioning unit. The guy who came out was real nice, and awesome. He gave me the rundown. I stood next to him as he worked on it, trying to find out what's going on. He diagnosed it and said, "It looks fine. There's nothing wrong with it." He gave me the answers I needed and then kept me reassured. The unit has been working great.

    There was one claim for the AC last year and the contractor couldn't come out until the next day. It was the hottest day coming into summer. You can't be in a crazy hot house in Texas, so I had to find another contractor to come out and work on it. American Home Shield said, "We have a policy that gives us 24 hours to respond and so we did." But in Texas, the air conditioner is like its life and death. So I had to act quickly and find someone else. Other than that, I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. I've been 90% satisfied with the claims that I've put in. They respond to the request within a matter of hours and they have someone come out as soon as possible in a reasonable amount of time.

    We had a problem with the washing machine. Each time we put the clothes in and wait for them to dry, they would never do. The machine was spinning but it was getting off-balanced all the time. We tried to readjust the clothes inside and hit start again. The machine would start back from the very beginning so the clothes would be washed all day. Some guys from Sears came out and they tried to do a recalibration. But that didn't work. I had to stop the washing machine, wring the clothes out manually, stick them in the dryer, and they had to dry for about two hours.

    My wife submitted a claim with American Home Shield and a service guy came and fixed the problem. He knew exactly what he was doing. Everything is working great now. I wash clothes about four times a week so I have to have a washing machine. If anybody has a problem with washing machines, American Home Shield should not send Sears out and send the service guy instead. On the whole, I love American Home Shield and it's the best home warranty I could have ever bought. The three people I talked to about American Home Shield joined already.

    I had an issue with my faucet in the shower. Logging the call was easy, but finding the vendor who would fix it was hard. I logged the call on Thursday, and Monday was the first day when they could come in. So I waited the whole weekend and a couple of days before someone could show up. And the whole while, the water in the faucet kept leaking. I could not even shut off the water from the house, because if I would shut it off, we would not have any water in our kitchen. And with little kids in the house, it was really hard to manage. So, availability is a big issue. They should make a faster response. And then, they came in, but they didn’t have the full parts with them. And the technician who came here was nice and very helpful. He was able to fix all of them.     Our AC worked fine all day Monday and I raised up the thermostat a bit, but as we were getting in bed, the temperature had gone up in the house. We had the house cooled off and I turned on a couple of ceiling fans, and it was fine. I called American Home Shield on Tuesday morning and we were able to survive with the ceiling fans until late Tuesday got hot. The repair company was out Wednesday noon, and the guy was very professional. The issue was a wire out in the yard was worn. He was able to replace it and we've been doing fine since.

    We have not had an issue with American Home Shield. They don't cover everything though. We have an older water heater and we keep our fingers crossed that it’s not going to go out. Other than that, the two or three times we have had somebody come out from whatever company it is, they've been very nice and good. Sometimes people complain about not being able to fix an issue, but we've not experienced that.

    I've been really pleased with what goes on with American Home Shield. But I've had holes punched in my walls twice. The contractor would do a rough-in, but they don’t do the finished work. So I’ve got to hire somebody else to come back in and finish it. I talked to a guy yesterday for plumbing stuff, and he punched in a 4 by 12 inches hole. He said, “I’ll come back and finish it for $75.” I had to pay a guy $150 to finish it. I have a garage door opener that wasn't functioning properly and the guy said it's some parts are going out. They’re looking for the parts. So, at least he serviced it and it’s working. But we’re not sure whether they'll replace it.

    When I call in a claim, American Home Shield is usually pretty quick to send out somebody. If you don't like someone to come back out, they would send somebody different. I have eight properties and I have American Home Shield on five of them. The three other properties aren’t insured yet. It would be nice if American Home Shield would give me a package deal.

    We misdiagnosed the problem. There was really nothing wrong with the clothes washer. But it interrupted a cycle and we couldn't get it to start again so the clothes were in the rinse cycle. We called American Home Shield and the fella that came out was very helpful. We had to pay $100 for our mistake which we understand. But he stayed here, made sure that there was nothing wrong. I told him it was stupid to sit here and wait to see all the cycles go through. He said, “Just call me if there's a problem and I'll come right back.” That was excellent. Also, they checked with me several times after the repair to make sure I was happy with it. I'm sure he would have been able to repair it if there was something wrong. I had heard bad things about this particular repair company so it shows you that you can't listen to everything you read.

    My friend who lives about a block from me, Anthony, had American Home Shield. Normally, I don't trust those services. We've had it before and there was a depreciation issue. I was assured that with American Home Shield, that wasn't going to happen so I took a chance on it. The price was fair too. But Anthony was the one that recommended it and I filled out his name but he never did get the $25 for his referral. Also, a lot of the contractors come in their own cars and get paid for mileage. But they should put one of those stickers on. It would be more professional. That's the only thing I would suggest to American Home Shield.

    According to my husband, the repairman was super respectful of our home, our space, and the area where he was working. And the dryer is fixed. I was 12 loads behind on my laundry. So, I'm glad he did not show up here again.

    Having a home warranty obviously lessens the cost of what you have to pay out-of-pocket. And just a good thing to having so many items covered under one umbrella. If it were one thing, but there are several items that are covered under our plan. Even if it's going to cost me something out-of-pocket, it still will help that we get some assistance from a warranty company if that is a covered item.

    Express Heating and Cooling was a much better experience than when 24/7 came out. I placed the service call and 24/7 came out and said the unit was clogged. He said to me that he could not determine the source of the leak at that moment. But if it started leaking again, to call dispatch because he was on call this week. I did that when the unit started leaking again. But when I called AHS, the representative I spoke with said that the technician that came out said I had to pay $935 for parts that were not covered on my unit. I had a discrepancy with that because that was not what I was told by the technician when they left my house for the second time.

    I was told to call so they could come back out and diagnose the source. Then there was, all of a sudden, $935 of charges that they wanted me to pay for. I asked if there were any other options. I was informed of a cash-out option. They said they emailed me a form for it, but I did not follow up with because I then inquired about a second opinion. I didn't understand how the technician from 24/7 was able to make a diagnosis without informing me or coming out and finding the source of the leak. That didn’t make sense to me. At that time, the representative said I could have the second opinion. I received the text message that one contractor had been assigned to me, but I was not contacted. Last Monday of this week, I contacted the contractor that they provided. After speaking with him, because he said he could not find an order, he said he wanted to go in and look in the log.

    He called me back the next day and said that the unit was clogged. I did not need a new coil as the representative from 24/7 informed me. He tested my coil and it works. He said I did not need refrigerant coolant or freon and that at my level, he was expecting between 130 and 135, and it was at 140. If I would not have inquired with the representative about other options myself, I would be completely unaware and possibly out $1,000. I really appreciate the second contractor that was assigned. But I didn't appreciate the representative from AHS telling me my only option was to pay close to $1,000, and not providing me with other options when I paid for my warranty service so that I don't have to incur charges like that.

    I have used AHS for other issues that have happened in the house, and I'm very happy with them. Even the contractor informed me that they are one of the best warranties out there because of their coverage. Other warranty services don't cover certain items that AHS does. That is one of the reasons why I kept it, being a single income homeowner, to make sure that when big-ticket items fail, that I don't have to pay all of this money for something that could possibly be covered.

    The techs were wonderful, very professional, and polite. My heating and air unit went out, and they did their work, left and did a good job. American Home Shield honors their contract. They provide the services that need to be established. However, people need to make sure that they understand the full details of all of the things and that there are some instances where they will have out of pocket expenses, even though they have coverage. I noticed some things that I didn't know after dealing with them, but the service technicians so far that I've had to deal with have been great.

If I called somebody to fix it, they would show up in a day or two, but since I was going through American Home Shield, the same appliance company made me wait six days, saying they didn't have any openings.     In the beginning, I had separate calls welcoming me to American Home Shield and it was going over the same questions multiple times. Also, we had an issue with getting our payment applied. We closed on the 30th of June and the check was mailed July 1st. But it didn't get posted until the 12th of July. So I don't think that they got applied timely.

    Submitting a claim was very easy. When it's out there, AHS is responsive and people follow up. The contractors are responsive as well. So far, I'm pleased with the warranty. But there are some things that could have been handled better. The contract says my AC and furnace are covered. But it doesn't say thermostats and balancing the ductwork is covered as well. I would think that if the equipment is covered, the delivery mechanisms are part of it. Frog Pro, the contractor, is stellar because American Home Shield is not going to cover my claim and they said that they'll cover it out of the goodness of their heart. So I’m not as impressed with American Home Shield as I am with Frog Pro.

    One of the islets on our gas range was not working at all and our middle islet was only working 50%. The contractor thought they could order the parts for it but they couldn't get them so, they recommended a replacement. American Home Shield replaced it so we were very pleased with that. Another claim that we had was for our washing machine where it was filling up with water and not draining. Again, the contractor attempted to order the parts and couldn't get them so they recommend a replacement for that. We got a new one and we were pleased with that too. Submitting the claims online were very simple because I do everything online. AHS responds with an email quickly of who the service will be sent out to. The contractors contact us immediately, so we get things resolved within three days.

    I'm one of American Home Shield’s biggest advocates and I tell everyone I know they need to get AHS. If you own a home, this is the way to go because the repairs can be very costly. Not only are you paying a service fee, but then you're paying the cost of the service or replacement. We pay $100 and the contractor comes out and do the service. The first time, they assess it and if they have to come out a second time on the same service, we don't get charged another $100. So, it's advantageous to homeowners to have something like this. It gives us a comfort level to know that we're covered under a whole lot of things. If it goes bad, I don't worry about it. I just put in a claim online and let AHS do the rest.

    The drip pan of my HVAC unit filled up and overflowed. The pump is supposed to prevent that from happening but it didn't work. Also, there's a kill switch in there that was supposed to shut it off but if it gets wet, it wouldn't work. I put in a claim and JW Ultra Air heating & Cooling was in touch very quickly. Their tech was very helpful. He recognized what was going on, did his thing, and told me some things that I could do to prevent it from happening again. AHS is very easy to work with but there are some things where I haven't been all that happy. We have an ongoing HVAC issue that the contractor said I need a new one but AHS won't replace it. The contractor comes out from time to time and puts Freon in it even though it's not a Freon leak. Then, I have to pay for that Freon and it's expensive.

    Unbelievably great and trustworthy service. After you sign up, you need to wait a month for the service to be activated. But, on the day of activation I was able to reach the customer service at 6 AM to be able to place my service request. My AC was not working for close to two and a half to three months and in the extreme heat conditions of this year we were really experiencing a hard time. Repairing the AC unit could put us under thousands of dollars of repair because it could have been the AC circuit board, or even the main central AC unit outside. We simply did not have the finances to bear thousands of dollars in repair.

    We tried, and bore the severely exhausting, weakening, and almost unbearable heat for one to one and a half months thinking we would be able to bear it. But, it was very difficult to the point of becoming almost dangerous to our health and even undignified to our humanity. But, because we did not have the finances we tried to bear it for as long as we could. One day, by chance I received an advertisement email from a company called American Home Shield that claimed to be a leading home warranty for home AC, appliances, as well as electric, water, and many other home machinery, apparatus, and articles. We thought that it would be like all other typical scam companies, but, because of the desperate situation we took a chance.

    The company was extremely gracious and kind even during sign up, lowering the monthly charges for 75 dollars per service request from an even promotional price of close to hundred dollars from to a greatly affordable 75 dollars per month with a limit of 1000 dollars per service request. This plan called Platinum shield plus is greatly affordable for it covers, which includes any needed repair service for appliances from following categories regardless of age of appliance or even if no maintenance or inspection service has been performed on them since purchase as well as other following home warranty services.

    We would be able to place the service request only after one month since signing up for the home warranty, I guess to prevent fraud. So although we had to suffer another excruciating month of exhaustion, severe heat and humidity, and tiredness at the end of it signing up with American Home Services really was worth it.

    Right on the day when the service became active I waited all night so that I could place my service request as early as I could because by this point the heat really was turning into a horror especially we could not even use the kitchen for any length of time, sleep at night, or even clean our house for any more than half hour and the months of exhaustion were building up to greatly defile our quality of life and was indignant to our humanity. But, I was able to contact customer service by 6 AM and was able to process a service request.

    Customer service was very logical since step one, I received due emails with information about my service contractor, their contact information, the company name, as well as their AHS reciprocation service request ID, as well as the expected procedure for setting up specific appointment date and time with the company. I was able to call the company and American Home Shield had already provided them with my phone number and all service request related information on the same day.

    I did not even have to mention my name, they had all my service information ready just from my phone number associated call. And we were able to get the service done within the next business day in an unbelievably professional, respectful, and almost perfect service from our service provider PRIDE A/C & HEATING SERVICE COMPANY which is located in Manassas, VA but they were able to dispatch a service provider of great intelligence, quality, professionality, respect, and kindness Mr. Thomas ** who was able to fix the AC very quickly and with great competence, experience, and perfection.

    An A/C repair that would have cost us hundreds in the minimum and maybe even thousands was fixed duly because of the great coverage, dependency, reliability, service network outreach, great contractor selection, and due service of American Home Shield and their contract partner in this service PRIDE A/C & HEATING SERVICE COMPANY. I am quite thankful. American Home Shield is an honest and trustworthy company. At least, that is what my experience has been.

    My 87 year old aunt has been without and air conditioner for a month now. She was not getting anywhere with American Home Shield so I had to take over. AHS's assigned tech never showed so I was given permission for us to go with a technician of our choosing. The technician came right out and gave us his diagnosis and estimate. Then, his office tried to contact AHS. They tried and tried to reach the authorization department and were put on hold for hours at a time, and could never reach them. Meanwhile, I have been calling AHS almost everyday and am given a new story every call. First of all, they are not allowed to transfer a call to their own supervisor or to their authorization department. They will not give you a direct line to the authorization department so your tech can get through. I've been told twice that a supervisor will call me asap -- I am still waiting for that call!

    Finally, after hours and hours on the phone with their agents, one agreed to get their auth. dept on the line with our tech (this was after dealing with this for almost 3 weeks, everyday). I was to receive an email once that call had taken place (within 24 hours) to find out what AHS would do for my aunt. That email has not come as of today. My aunt is elderly, she lives in Texas, and if not for a technician who had the common courtesy to set up two portable AC units in her house, she would be dying from heat exhaustion. AHS doesn't even know that our technician did this for her. As far that they know, she's living day in and day out in 95 degree summer weather, waiting for them to make a decision about her AC unit.

    Oh, and to top of this horror story, they had the gall to send me an email asking for their $75 service fee. Service fee for what service? They should be paying me for all of the hours I've spend trying to get something done on this. They have provided NO service whatsoever. All they have done is cause my aunt undo stress and worry, cause me to spend hours and hours on the phone with them, to be put through loops where I am told to keep doing the same things that aren't getting us anywhere near an ending to this saga, and lie as to who does what at their company. This company cannot be trusted to keep its word. They are not friendly at all to the elderly. But, they do want their service fee to be paid on time! If you are thinking of signing up for AHS, run and run fast!!!

    The first time the techs came out, there was nothing wrong with theAC unit and it was just the thermostat had gone out. They didn't have a thermostat with them but they came again the next day and installed one. I called in a re-call to American Home Shield because for about two hours, none of the units were running. It's been a few days and I still haven't heard from anybody. But, the AC has been running fine since. With AHS, it costs me $100 to have somebody come out and fix something that at times could cost me in the thousands. They've always been great and I have recommended them to a couple of friends and family.

    The AC was leaking water. The drain was full and there was a crack in the pan. The air conditioning company notified me right away that they were gonna come out and I appreciate that. They said they couldn't fix the crack in the pan but they put a sensor on it so if it gets wet again, it would turn the unit off. I would have thought that they would have fixed the cracked pan but they said that American Home Shield wouldn't cover that. Also, at American Home Shield, you don't get to talk to anybody. I've done it all virtual so it's really very impersonal. I did it all on my phone and I've never had that experience before, but it was a good thing. If the contractor wouldn't have gotten back to me as quickly as they did, then I would have been upset.

    The contractors that were assigned to work on my air conditioning unit took 10 days before they could get out to my house. I also never got the call within 48 hours and I never heard anything. At that point, I had put in four requests with American Home Shield. With the first one where they assigned a contractor, I never got a call. Three weeks later, they called and asked if I still needed service. I said no as the air conditioner stopped leaking.

    The second time I put in a request, I was assigned a contractor and they came out. They did an okay job but they weren't really looking at the whole system. They looked at one problem and fixed the leak. A week and a half later, it backed up in another area and the unit was leaking again. We called American Team, the contractor, and it was again 10 days before somebody could get out. The technician was great and seemed to be a little more thorough. He fixed another problem and left. Half an hour later, the unit stopped running altogether. I called American Team and their rep said they couldn't get anybody out here for another 10 days. It was gonna be 96 degrees this weekend and the unit was not working. It was really bad customer service. The rep said she was putting me into an overtime slot.

    A guy came after 10 days. The unit was still working but it was leaking again. The guy replaced the pump. My air conditioner was working but it was barely pushing air and it was not cool. I could not go with American Home Shield or American Team anymore. The service technicians were very nice but not one of them checked the outside unit to make sure that was okay. Only one took the panel off the inside unit to see if it was something other than the piping to the pump or the pump itself. The second American Team service person replaced the pump then left. That was when it was still blowing air but it was not strong and it wasn't full. This service was not acceptable.

    I ended up calling the company that originally installed the AC unit. The guy said it was a brand new pump and there was a little piece of cardboard in there. It was a little tab that was supposed to be removed right after the installation. Otherwise, all the connections wouldn't be established. He pulled out this little cardboard tab and everything worked fine.

    Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with my experience and it's a shame for this incident. But it is not always like this. A lot of it has to do with COVID and having a hard time finding contractors right now. I'm purchasing an extended warranty through the original installer just so I can bypass American Home Shield on my heating and air conditioning system. That's one of the big things that you get a home warranty for. My system is only two years old. If I'm not a technician and I suspected the pumps from the beginning, why didn't the technicians just say, “Your pump looks really old, looks like it's not functioning that efficiently. Let's just put in a thing and see if American Home Shield will cover a new pump.” That should’ve been done on the first visit.

    I've got a lot of stuff through American Home Shield where they've done good troubleshooting and I’ve gotten good customer service. But this one with the air conditioning unit was just a disaster. I never got a call until three weeks later because they're overwhelmed and understaffed. I work in customer service and I get it. I don't blame American Home Shield. You can't make people appear who are skilled and qualified who aren't there. It's hard because they have a policy that you're supposed to hear within a certain number of hours and a technician is supposed to be able to come out within a certain number of business days. But they are not even close to sticking to that right now. They are not fulfilling the end of their obligations. Customers like me who have been extremely inconvenienced and loyal need to be compensated because I'm paying for service that I'm not getting.

    The burner on the stove wasn’t working. The tech that came out knew what he was doing. He crossed his T's and dotted all his I’s before he determined what the actual root cause and solution was gonna be. So I appreciated that. The burner was replaced so that was good. I've had good experiences and not too good experiences with American Home Shield. It comes down to who they contract to come out. Corporations like Sears tend to be more customer service based because they're rated on that. Big businesses kinda thrive off of that. But when it's just a licensed contractor or a mom-and-pop shop, you don't quite get the same sense of urgency. I had somebody come out to do my plumbing and they didn't put that much effort into trying to figure out what was going on. I had to push it for things to get fixed but at the end of the day, it's still leaking.

    When somebody submits a request, American Home Shield should send out all of what’s gonna be covered in that process. So when the licensed contractor or whoever it is that they sent out comes over, we have an idea of what is actually covered and not covered. Because when the plumber came out, he said, “Well, I don't think your insurance covers that.” So all I got was a "I don't think," and I never got a for sure answer. I don't know if they left my home with a possibility of fixing some of the things that they weren't too sure were covered or not. So that's kinda a loss on my end.

    The tech said he was going to call me back to let me know when the parts are coming. But he didn't message me. When I called him, he said, “Oh, no. Well, it should come later today,” and then he came that day. So it wasn’t a problem. He was very nice, and he fixed the problem. It went well, overall. I always do my claims online. I just fill the form and click. But AHS could put more options online in terms of what's wrong with your appliance when you're not sure. I've had good experiences so far.     The first time the locksmith came, it wasn't so great. They were rushed and they left it in a weird state. And then, the lock ended up breaking. But with the second guy who came out, everything is really solid, and he even made sure he color-matched everything. He was nice about it. We have also submitted claims for some plumbing issues. Everything, with the exception of stuff that they couldn't fix because of the warranty contract, has been fine. I have recommended American Home Shield for friends of ours that have bought houses. But AHS must be outsourcing the help in the claims process in a different country because sometimes, it was difficult for the people who took the claim to understand what it was that I needed or if I had a question. I had a situation with the plumbing issue that I had which wasn't as good as this recent experience and it was because of of the language barrier. Other than that, AHS is great and everyone should get the home warranty.

    Originally, at my other house I was at in Vegas, to replace the AC units, they can be anywhere from 5 to $15,000. Having my AC and the other larger appliances covered was my concern, but the AC was the big one. Recently, I did a virtual call with the contractor regarding my icemaker not cooling properly. I showed him what I had happening. The line where the water gets cleaned before it comes out through a separate spigot on the sink for drinking water ran over to the icemaker, and because it had an issue on that side, the water wasn't getting over to my icemaker, is what I was told. The floor is very low, and that runs through the same system that goes to my icemaker. He talked me through it on the phone. It makes sense to me. I'm not a plumber, but because I've had that issue where that water isn't working very well, I could see that being the case if that same line runs through there.

    The only hold up is the cost of the warranty. Other than that, American Home Shield has always been prompt about getting somebody to get to me. This last call, I called in twice, but the first one, I got somebody that did not speak English for me well enough to understand very well. So that was a little hiccup for me. Otherwise, it has been good.

    There was a noise running when you are dealing with the shower, but it wasn't that. T Mayes came out and he found the problem. It was in the toilet. The flush valve had no pressure to it. It was barely shooting out pressure. With the kitchen sink, he looked at that and he showed me that the faucet needs to be replaced where it was leaking in the kitchen. In the basement sink, he said under the bottom, that faucet there, the same thing. When you turn the water on, it runs. It was leaking water out that hole. He said that the faucet needs to be replaced too. The tech was a nice guy. But he hasn't been back to fix it. They're waiting for the parts.

    Sometimes with AHS, it can get hectic, especially when you're making a call on the weekends when you gotta deal with foreign people. You can't understand what they're saying. A lot of times we'll just ask, “Can you get somebody that speaks American, can speak some kind of English?" They can understand you better. Because you keep repeating yourself. Also, a lot of times, like with Mayes Plumbing, they normally call you Monday morning, but they'll give you that appointment on that Thursday or Friday.

    The claim process is kind of difficult. When the contractor comes out and they find that you need something additional, you have to make another call for that and wait for another contractor. But if the first guy knows what's going on, why do I have to make another call? It's ridiculous that I would have to call several times for the same claim. But other than that, I don't have any issues with American Home Shield.

    We had a claim for the pool and two contractors were supposed to come out that never came until ABNation. ABNation was very professional. They took a look around at what was going on with the pool. They had to replace a piece, they ordered it, and they told me the estimated times. Everything was fixed as soon as possible.

    Mike from Union Express changed a part for my AC. It worked for a minute then it started blowing warm air. Mike came back and changed the motor and the fan blade. It's been working fine ever since. AHS is trying to hire some people to be able to answer the phone and cater to the customers. But, it's taking too much of my day to try to make the call.     My refrigerator wasn't cooling. We also had a sewage pump that started leaking. These issues happened within a week of each other. A guy came out and checked the refrigerator. It was last week. He added a Freon to where the appliance was cooling but he couldn't find the source of the leak. He would have to tear the whole refrigerator apart to do that. The refrigerator is working at the moment but it is still technically leaking and we don't know how long it will last. As for the sewage pump, the people who came out replaced the pump. We are in the process now with the home insurance and getting everything restored because of the flooding. Overall, American Home Shield was very good. The people who came out were very friendly and professional.

    We had a leak in our sprayer and it didn't work on our faucet. The repair guy from Power Plumber tried to fix it and tried to get the sprayer to work. He cleared the faucet and did a cleaning. He said it was old so it wore out and he replaced the whole unit. He was very good. I watched him do it and he knew what he was doing. Power Plumber was the best that American Home Shield has ever recommended. We were almost ready to drop AHS because we've been with them for a long time and their service got bad for a while. I have no problems now. This was the first time I used them since my last episode, which was not good. But this time, it was excellent. I would like though to see their customer service be a little bit more friendly and easy to work with. It's very difficult to get ahold of them on the phone. My husband is 91 and I am 72, and they need to be more conscious of senior citizens.

    The refrigerator has been reported since June 1st and we still haven't had it repaired. I had the first guy out to look. He told me I had to be the person who would move the refrigerator into the middle of the room. I said, “No, I'm 58 years old. I'm not gonna do it. You're gonna have to find some people.” He said, “I don't help people. You're gonna have to do it.” I called American Home Shield and American Home Shield reassigned it to a different company. But we were not able to get ahold of the secondary company and still haven't been able to. I've been on the phone every other so many days to get some help, and get these people in here but I've gotten nowhere. It's been going on for three weeks and we're talking 45-minute holds.

    I called to see what's going on and they acted like they haven't even reassigned it. They went through the history. Hardly any of them speak English. They speak whatever country they're from that they've assigned. Then, they said that they've reassigned me again and to wait 24 to 48 hours. But then, still not reassigned. Still nothing.

    After going through two rounds of this with them, we know that the part isn't covered and we are paying out of pocket if that's the issue. But still nowhere. I've had American Home Shield for 10 years and generally, we don't have a hard time submitting a claim. This is the first time that this has been going on like this. My big thing right now is, “Please let me speak to a supervisor,” hoping that they'll speak fluent English and will be able to help me. I'm still sitting here. Today, I'm getting ready to call them again because it's been 40 hours since I was told I was reassigned and I had many requests for a supervisor to call me back.

    I've already worked with Air One Mechanic before and I knew that it would be difficult to get ahold of them through the phone, so I sent them an email. The service was fast. The motor on the ceiling was not attached well and after the repair guy did that, he didn't check the Freon levels. So, although the AC was running, it was not cooling down the house. I had to put in a request again to American Home Shield to have Air One Mechanic come out to look at the Freon levels and see if there was a leak. The repair guy was very professional, respectful and informative as to what he thought was going on, and it was what my expectation was. I'm hoping that whatever he did during his visit would fix where we think the leak is.

    The contractor got down to work and did their job but they came three times for the refrigerator. They did something on the third time and so far, the refrigerator has been good. But usually, it takes about two weeks and something goes wrong again with the water. So, I’m holding my breath on that. For the washer, the tech had to put a pump in, which seems to be okay but the computer part on top of the washer is not doing right. The tech booted and rebooted it but I don't know if it worked. American Home Shield don't usually answer. I left a message the first part of the week and the tech who worked on it called me back yesterday. I explained to him about the computer part but I’m gonna have to call and tell him something else is happening. Today, there's another problem. It doesn't look like enough water is coming in. He’s probably not gonna like it.

    I called American Home Shield and they’ve got the computer that answers all my questions and takes all the info. So they’re very fast at getting the claims going. It seems like they’re a little better than a while back when we had repair guys come and fix things. They are a good deal so far although the repair guys have to keep coming back.

    American Home Shield doesn’t always use the most competent contractors. They use substandard contractors and I always have to do a recall service. For instance, it took five service calls to get my refrigerator fixed properly. The fan was going out and the service technician that American Home Shield called said he needed to replace it. He had to order a part which took forever. Sometimes, they have to wait for American Home Shield to provide the part. He came back and installed the part but didn't connect a sensor that needed to be connected. A couple of weeks later, the refrigerator broke again. He came back out and said, "I don't know what the problem is. They need to call the manufacturer." The manufacturer technician walked in and said it froze back over because the first technician didn't reconnect all the parts. That happened a couple of times with the refrigerator.

    Most recently with my washing machine, it's the same scenario. A technician came out and said it was the control board that had died. He needed to order a new one. He did then came and installed it. A couple weeks later, I realized that our clothes were not getting clean and that there was an error message on my washing machine. I called American Home Shield back and they sent him back out. He said, “I don't know what's wrong with the washing machine. They need to send out the manufacturer. It's got a lot of error codes.” This time, he forgot to reconnect the water hoses on the back of the washing machine properly so the following day, we had water damage in our home because he caused a small leak in the washing machine.

    When the GE technician got here, he looked and said the first technician didn't reconnect the pressure switch so the washing machine wasn't able to read the water levels. That was why the washing machine wouldn't work again. Now, I have over $10,000 worth of damage in my home from the water leaking into the ceiling and down onto hardwood floors. Even the GE technicians that come out say, “We wish American Home Shield would call us first and stop calling these other places. It's expensive for us to come out and they're trying to save money but they call these guys out two and three times where they could have called us once and we would have done it right the first time. There's no inconvenience to the client."

    My parents also have American Home Shield and their complaint is getting someone on the phone, long wait times, and calls being disconnected. Then when they attempt to describe the problem, the words that they're using are not being captured by the customer service reps so I try to encourage my parents to keep it short and concise. They too have experienced issues with the competence of the contractors that are sent. They had a plumbing issue and I ended up going through American Home Shield’s Facebook page to get them help. They had a contractor come and tear up the bathroom for a plumbing issue and walked away. He wanted to fix it a more expensive way than what American Home Shield wanted to do, and my parents didn't wanna pay the difference.

    American Home Shield is not perfect but things do get fixed. I have had some good contractors come out. I can pay them a $75 fee and I know I'm not getting the absolute best contractor but it's not costing me an arm and a leg either. When I compare that to what I'm paying, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm frustrated when things don't go correctly but when it does go well, it works well.

    Our HVAC unit was working for a minute last year and then it made this really crazy sound when it popped off. So I had the gas company come and check it out. They said I was gonna have to have someone come and take it apart. I got the warranty service from American Home Shield and the rep said that I would have to wait 30 days before it became active. So I said, “Okay, I can do that.” Then American Home Shield sent out Budget HVAC.

    The guy came out and took care of the unit with no problem. He was really nice. He was also really knowledgeable about how to take care of everything. He told me that it would only take about five minutes. So I went doing something else and when I came back to the utility room, he was done. So the experience was wonderful.     Prayco Plumbing came out. I told the tech that the fan wasn't going on the air condition. He did something. He said that the air is on. I said, "But it's not blowing out cold air and the fan is not going outside." Then he went out there. I went to look and he was standing up on the back porch and the air conditioner is in the back and he was standing right there. So I shut the door to let him know that I've seen him just standing there, so then he checked again. AHS has been beneficial. They do well when I submit a claim and they will try to get right on it and send the person out. We just had some shady people. When those people came out and they found out it's just a lady in the house, and then seemed like to me they tried to get over.

    Overall, every claim I've made to American Home Shield was taken care of pretty well. The people they hire are very courteous. So, it's not a bad deal. I get about 1,000 emails, though, which is kind of annoying. Other than that, their claim process is pretty easy. A lot of times, for some reason, they can't find me in the system and I have to repeat myself. I guess you got to pay ahead of time.     I call American Home Shield, and then they send me the contact number of a vendor, then I do that. The only thing is the con of the contractor. The tech was bleeding off the Freon. I walked around the corner and I could hear the stuff shooting out. Then, he closed the valve. And then, they said it needed a bunch of service. And it just felt weird. But I thought, “Well, maybe I don't know how they checked some things.” So, I called for a second opinion. And he said, “No, you should never have to see that. It’s not normal.” And then, I said, “I don't want to spend the money for all this if it doesn’t need to be done.” The second company said it didn't need to be done. I'm really disappointed they sent me a vendor that is not legit. They should make sure they screen their contractors and see that they are legit. Otherwise, everything is fine.

    I was satisfied with the plumbers. Those guys were outstanding. They came in and diagnosed the problem, and then told me exactly what it was, and fixed it within an hour and a half. They had to come in and change the bathroom, the interior that makes it work. There was also a leak and they fixed that with no problem. They did an excellent job.

    American Home Shield's service is okay, but they send mechanics that say anything and they believe it. Some of the people that they call try to get over on you. For instance, the air conditioning guys said, “You need to pay for 12 pounds of Freon.” That was crazy and I was not going to do that. When I got somebody to check it out, they said, “lt’s a 3.5 ton, so all you need is four pounds.” The air conditioning guys from AHS were charging for a difference of eight pounds. Overall, some of the people American Home Shield calls are good about it, then some of them, especially those air conditioning guys, are bad.

    I had a garage door problem and American Home Shield was very quick to act on it. I got someone out very quickly. The only thing is, besides the $106 I paid for someone to come out, I ended up having to pay more money for the work that was being done. The problem ended up being the door, and the warranty only covered the motor and the sensors. I wasn’t prepared to pay extra to have some work done on the door, new rollers and lubrication, but it needed to be fixed.

    I've heard of other companies, but I've had American Home Shield in a previous home I had several years ago and I was familiar with their system. I chose them to do the monthly payments. This is even though I have a newer house and recently had to be on social security, which means, I couldn't afford to just have someone come out and replace a whole new unit, a whole new washer and dryer, or a whole new refrigerator. I knew that it would be covered under this warranty and they always came through when I used them in the past.

    Everything went well. Maybe they should have done a weekend call, but they didn't. But maybe the cost of doing the weekend repair might have been additional. It's okay though. They were really nice. They came in, they fixed the issue. I called in to see if secondary damage was covered, and I found out that it isn't. I've had the leak, but I didn't know how long I had the leak for, so the baseboard to the kitchen sink was damaged a bit, and apparently, they don't cover that secondary damage. That was a bit of a disappointment, but you can't get everything from insurance, so I get that.

    And then, the other thing was having to provide my entire credit card number to the agent over the phone. I declined to do that. I went directly to online. So, I asked the question via the customer service representative, hung up, and then submitted the claim online since my card is already on file. So, if it were easier for customer service representatives to take the call. And then, some of the repair options are slightly ambiguous. It's not that I couldn't figure it out, but I could see someone becoming very easily frustrated with trying to submit the claim.

    I tried to update my policy to include roofing, and I also wanted to make it so that my service calls cost less. So, I wanted to do those two upgrades via the online site, and it was not an easy feat. It's so difficult that I actually didn't get it taken care of. And I knew that if I called the customer service representative, they were going to want my credit card number over the phone. I'm skeptical because I've had a couple of incidences where my credit cards have been stolen and had to go through the entire fraud process. But that would be something that I would consider taking a look at if I were dealing with the web services for American Home Shield.

    I went online, and I looked at Dave's Plumbing and realized that their service call is $88 when I paid $133 to AHS. I'm also paying the monthly fee of $45. So, in essence, unless I have a major issue, it's not worth it. And I've heard some pretty disparaging things about AHS saying that they are going to patch you up until you can be patched no more. So, if my refrigerator for whatever reason had some issues, they will repair it until they couldn't repair it anymore, and ultimately, leading to me pretty much providing the cost of a new refrigerator with multiple visits. Because if each call out is about a hundred dollars, then, by the time I've made so many calls, I could have had a new refrigerator. And they're less likely to replace that larger than items. So, I'm beginning to rethink if I actually want to stay with AHS.

    It's great if you've got a rental property, and you've got people who aren't going to take the best care of your property. Because my cousin is the one who recommended this. For him, it's great because he doesn't have to see the problem, and he's okay with patching it up. But we own this home and live in it, so it's different. Other than that, they did what they said they would do. That they'd find someone to come out, they respond within an appropriate timeframe, which they did, and they came out and fixed the issue promptly at the time that they were going to come and do it. And the contractors were very kind, professional, in and out and resolved the issue.

    But people like to see where their money is going, and they want to make sure they're getting the best deal, but also the greatest work. I had somebody to come out and fix that sink twice, the same person. I had all of this issue because they didn't follow up on their warranty, a year's warranty. That's the other side that actually is the benefit of having someone like AHS that holds that contractor to their word and their work.

    I called somebody out, and they charged me $200 to do this and did it wrong, and now, I'm gonna have to pay a $500 deductible to my homeowners insurance, as well as the $133 that I spent on the call out for the plumber to come in. So, it's a catch-22 like, "Yeah, I don't want to spend this money, but I also don't want to, you know, call somebody in that's gonna do trash work and have to take them to court to recoup all the money that I just spent."

    American Home Shield is well worth it even with the deductible. Every time we've had a problem, they had to have a contractor out within the next couple of days and I can't complain about it. We've had our central air redone thru them. Every year we get that. Their contractor puts new freon in it. A contractor is here now for a leak on our hot water tank. They said it was shot and I needed a new one. They are replacing the water tank.

    The claims process with American Home Shield was very easy and simple to do. I got to talk to a person. I don't like talking on the computer or on a phone by filling stuff out. The contractor did a very good job. The connection underneath came loose at the very top and that was causing water to go down underneath our cabinet. The man came and he pushed the connection back up, tightened it and checked the rest of the faucet. He said it would be $75 and I had no problem paying that.

    There was some miscommunication with my recent claim with AHS. I didn't realize we had a different email address. H & J had the email address. But when I called AHS, I asked them for an appointment time because I couldn't remember the appointment time and they didn't have that. They should figure out a way to have access to the appointment times because I couldn't get a hold of H & J. But H & J made good on it, they came out and did well.

    I have a very bad experience with American Home Shield. The first time they sent a company for my garage door opener, the technician was not professional and he gave them a wrong report. He left open all wires and he said he would come back in two days with a new model. But in a week, I did not hear back from anyone. When I called back to American Home Shield, they told me that my claim was rejected because I did not use the proper plug for the garage door opener. But the garage door opener for 20 years was plugged in the same location. I told them that I do not agree with the report. Then American Home Shield sent another company yesterday. They were good people and professional but American Home Shield hasn't called me back. I'm waiting for the tech that will be coming tomorrow.
