    So far, I'm not very pleased with American Home Shield’s service. It's kind of slow with service calls and start resolving problems. I've talked to the representative about getting our new dishwasher. I'm at Lowe's now. I'm only getting $800 for the dishwasher. I have to try and find something on sale. So that's gonna be another week or two. So I’m trying to decide. The installation and delivery charges are all included in the $800 so that limited my spending and what I can pick.

    The tech that came out was very good, very professional, came on time, and resolved the problem. As far as submitting a claim to AHS, it seemed like they don't you have enough contractors to service the area. They only had two plumbers. I waited almost three weeks to get a sink unstopped. I had AHS years ago and they had excellent service then but now, it seems like it fell off with the service.

    Requesting for service with AHS is as easy as it could be. AAA U-Pay-Less Appliance Service came out for the oven and they knew exactly what the issue was. In 15 minutes, the problem was solved. Also, I had a GE guy here yesterday for the refrigerator and he was here for two hours. He wasn't satisfied with how it was going. He said he really believes that I need another part, which will come on Sunday. He said he will be here on Monday morning to do it.

    There was no power to the thermostat and the AC unit wasn't working for my recent claim. The guy that came was very professional. He troubleshot it, found out that there was some insulation or something in one of the control wires shorting out. He had it fixed in about 30 minutes and left. However, with AHS, I sometimes don't like I have to do everything online. It's all automated and I can't sometimes put enough information in there. Like for example, today, I just put in another claim for a hot water issue. The hot water in the house isn't getting as hot as normal. I've got two water heaters and it doesn't really let me explain that.

    Then the other day, I also have a couple of toilets that are running and I put in a claim for that. It just disappeared. It's not even in there, didn't show as a pending claim. I don't know what happened on that. I probably have to go back in. I'm not crazy about the fact that I sometimes can't exchange as much information as I might want to.

    I also live in Houston, Texas. I live in a house with three air conditioners. It's a big house, three zones. So if one goes out, it usually doesn't kill us. But there's been a couple of times on air conditioning claims where they haven't gotten out for five days. The thing goes out on a Friday and I don't even get a call from somebody until Monday or a Tuesday. So if that had been my only air conditioner, I would not have been happy.

    I was initially reluctant with American Home Shield because I had bad experiences with groups like theirs in the past. But I realized that everything in the house that I purchased was old and I had do something. So far, it's been good with American Home Shield. The motor in the furnace died and they replaced that. The motor the techs got me had a broken leg and they put it in because I had no heat. They replaced it as soon as they got another unit. They worked with my schedule too. Someone also came out for my air conditioner. It is under my front porch and the tech was the size of a football player. I felt bad having to send him under there but he did great and was very helpful. I'm about to call American Home Shield for the dishwasher.

    I had a claim back in the early 2000s. It was an automatic deduction from my account. American Home Shield double billed me for the last six months I had it. It took me a while to get the bank to realize that I was paying out twice. At that time, I had a refrigerator in that house and American Home Shield wanted the guy to repair it. I heard him on the phone say, "It's 20 years old. It's dead." The home warranty wanted me to buy a refrigerator then they would reimburse me. But I was not doing that. That was why I have the home warranty. That gave me a very sour experience.

    That aside, American Home Shield's claim process is straightforward. I do it online, they just tell me the amount, and they would get back to me. It's 48 hours but they usually get back to me in 24. I may schedule an appointment with them and I may schedule a little later. If I can go at the end of the day or on a Saturday, that works best for me. That has been easy to do.

    We've had several issues in the last year and a half and most recently, a tech came out and flipped a breaker because we had no air. He gave the unit a tune-up as well. He was awesome. American Home Shield is okay, but you have to wait a while sometimes for service. One time, we had to wait two months for a repair for for air conditioning. They ordered the wrong part then I talked to 50 different people trying to get results and an answer, and nobody seemed to be able to help.

    The person that came out did a good job. My air conditioner stopped working by itself and he fixed it. He was on time when he was supposed to be here, came in, knocked it out quick, and knew what he was doing. He was very professional and I was grateful for him. If everybody works like that, then American Home Shield has a good team. It was on point this time. I had to go a few days without AC, but they told me that already, so I expected that.

    Submitting a claim is super simple. I just call the home warranty company, and they give me a date. They come out here that day and then I just pay the 75. It's well worth having, ‘cause without it, there could’ve been a big bill. American Home Shield is the best that I’ve seen. They're very affordable, and they get the job done. It's the way to go.

    The AC went out and a company diagnosed the burned out fan motor, but they're not covered by American Home Shield. So, they assigned Heritage. Heritage made a different diagnosis. It was actually not the fan motor. So, they fixed it very fast. I was very impressed with Heritage and it saved me a $1,000. American Home Shield's contractors are generally pretty good. I understand that they get to choose the contractor. I wish I had a little more choice in the contractor, but I've been pretty satisfied. Overall, our house has enough issues every year that it's worthwhile for us to have the warranty.

    The pool motor started freezing up and smoking. The contractor said they would come out within a certain timeframe. So the contractor brought a new motor and put it in. They explained what they were doing, all from the beginning to when they left. And they're very pleasant gentlemen. The motor is working great. Everything seems good with the pool. American Home Shield has excellent service, and they are very responsive.

    American Home Shield has been doing a great job. I have an older house so I've had to use them several times. They have been like clockwork in terms of how they handle the claims, and easy to communicate with. I submitted claims on their website and it was quick. It's an automated system, and somebody calls you back within a day or two. I’ve had air conditioning. I have had some refrigerator stuff, we're still waiting on a part. And I've had ice machine stuff. They have just been there. I really liked the recent repair guy. He's a good dude.

    The contractor who came out for the water heater was very knowledgeable. It wasn't quick because something happened between them submitting a request but it still went well. Once we were in contact with them again, they came out very quickly. The claim for the appliance where Sears came out was excellent. The tech was very knowledgeable, kind and very dedicated to what he was doing. He looked for all kinds of problems. He wanted to make sure everything was taken care of. But for the furnace, I did not know that if the repair guy did not fix the problem, I didn't have to submit a new claim. So, the first time, we submitted two claims when it was not corrected before. I logged in online on a site where it said that it could be redone. Whereas, when I called, no one told me to call back and tell them to reopen it if it wasn't corrected. Still, I would highly recommend American Home Shield. I love them so far.

    I had an AC unit issue, and the guy who came out was wonderful. But American Home Shield is pitiful. With COVID going on, I understand but it shouldn't take two weeks to get an appointment. I've had 25 home warranties with American Home Shield. I also have had one on my mother's home, and she has yet to get any help. They have treated her so poorly. We've had one disaster after another. They left her without a dishwasher for six months. She's 77. They kept saying that the motherboard was out. She paid the $100 service fee and never got anything. She finally went and bought her own dishwasher. The exact same thing happened with her washing machine. She paid two service fees. She bought her own washing machine.

    My mother lives in a newer home. It's not like she has an old home she was trying to get a warranty on. Something happened to her refrigerator. They sent a service man out. He took the back board out of it and did not attach the piece he was supposed to. She had asked them that day, “Hey, just don't send them. I'm on my way out of town to a Governor's reception in Mississippi. I'll be gone.” They said, “No, he has to come today.” They sent him and he left a part off. My mother walked back in her home at 10 o'clock at night to open the door, two days later, to her home being flooded due to this service man not installing the correct part and leaving it undone.

    American Home Shield did nothing. They still have not bought her a refrigerator. She had to go buy a refrigerator because the refrigerator was destroyed. It had so much water in it. Her home is 3,700 square feet. The insurance company had to rip it apart. They had to take up all the hardwood floor and the sheetrock was cut up halfway. American Home Shield's customer service was horrible. You get put to Mumbai, India and the only way to get anybody decent to speak with is to pretend like you’re a Realtor calling in and you’re buying a warranty for a customer. That's the only way to speak to somebody in America.

    All the drains were draining slowly. If I turn on the dishwasher, the sink would sometimes fill up with water. The bathtub had pretty much stopped draining altogether. It would take all night for it to drain after a shower. And if I turn on the garbage disposal, stuff were kicking back into the bathtub, which is, obviously not in the same room. So, I had a plumber come out and take care of it. He did a great job. He seemed very knowledgeable. He was very communicative, told me what he saw, what he was looking at, and what he was doing. He determined that the problem was with the plumbing in the house.

    It turned out that the drains for my plumbing are a lot smaller than they should be. They were probably done by a previous homeowner with an addition. So, they just would clog up on a regular basis. He then snaked the line. It's fantastic now. For a while, at the end of a shower, it would drain slowly and leave a scum line but there's nothing like that anymore. Plumbing issues weigh on you until you take care of them. So, it's an enormous relief.

    Originally, Climate Masters came on the 28th. The guy said the problem was the heat pump on the basement, and the water was leaking. Luckily, I had the safety valve system, so when the water reached certain level, it shut it off. The first guy who came said, “Oh, this was clogged.” He put some vinegar and bleach, and he said, “This should work.” After he left, it was doing the same thing. It was all flooded. Water was filling up. I called the company back and said, “Hey, that guy didn’t fix it good.” They said, “The early we can give you is week after.”

    Somebody came after that and checked everything outside and inside. Everything seemed working. But they found something that looks rusted, and that was where all the water was coming out. They said that needs to be replaced. So, nothing can be done. They said they're going contact AHS, get approval, and they'll call me back. Once the part is ordered, they said it would take another two weeks. So, we are stuck without AC for another two weeks. Overall, I like the customer service, and American Home Shield seems to take care of the problem. Sometimes it can take longer, but it works out.

    I wasn't satisfied with the warranty plan I had so I did some investigation and made some determinations on which home warranty plan was suitable for me. Most of the home warranty plans were pretty standard. But with American Home Shield, they had another plan that I can choose as well as an addition to what I wanted to choose. They had an electronic plan for the products for my electronics, TV, and computers. I chose them since they had this additional plan.

    When the power was out in my first floor apartment, I went online to American Home Shield and filled out a claim online regarding the problem that I had. I wanted to have someone come and check my circuit breakers because I was under the impression that the circuit breakers were not working. I got a text saying that they had found an electrician for me and for me to give them a call to set up an appointment then they would come out. The contractor's service was fine. They checked the circuit breaker box and told me what the problem was. The circuit breaker box was fine but they wanted to check the electric meter to see if that was working. They had shut off the service on the first floor. I recommend that others look at American Home Shield to see if there is something that they would be interested in.

    I came home from a weekend away, and my AC was blowing but it was not cold air. The tech who was here said it was the compressor or the starter. It was very easy to submit the claim to American Home Shield, and I was really pleasantly surprised. I've had another HVAC company come out in the past. They were initially scheduled to provide service, and they called and said that they were booked until the 9th of July. So, I was pretty worried that I wasn't gonna have any AC for over a week. But Epic called just maybe 40 minutes after I received that phone call from the initial company. And they were here about two days later, and it was fixed. So, it was very easy.

    The tech was totally professional. He was very nice. I already did recommend him to one of my neighbors who had their AC went out. I would absolutely use them again if need be. I just bought this house. This is the first home I've owned and moved in. The furnace wasn't working as soon as we moved in. AHS has been a really great service moving into a house. There are so many unforeseen expenses. In our case, we bought a house that had been foreclosed upon. So, we didn't get to talk to the seller or the previous owner about XYZ. So, AHS has been really great to have.

    American Home Shield can do good at times. But at other times, they can do bad. I've been with them for a certain number of years and I've run into the problem when I'm making phone calls to get service. They're sending me to the Philippines. That's preposterous. I'm in the United States. Why are they sending me someplace way over there? They have no idea what's going on over here. Then they can't make the contacts that they need to because they are in the Philippines. I don't like that. It might be one of the reasons that send me to another company.

    Some of the contractors are good. Some of them are thorough. Then some of them just go out and they don't wanna listen to what's going on. They think they know what may have happened but sometimes that's not the case. When you try to explain it to them, they put what they wanna put on the form. Then when they call it in to American Home Shield, American Home Shield just accepts whatever it is that they say as opposed to what the customer might say. American Home Shield takes for face value what this guy is saying even though he could be wrong. Over the years, American Home Shield had come through and done what they were supposed to. But that's been periodic. For the other times, they've given me the runaround, especially if it's something that is in question about the coverage or the cash in lieu option that they give the customer.

    My dishwasher came disconnected to how it was fed into the cabinet. If I had a full load on the bottom rack and it was pulled out, everything just fell forward and I had to catch it all. It looked like it had been glued, but the glue had let go and it wasn't working anymore. So, the tech who came out put a different kind of thing in there and screwed it into the side of the cabinet. The claims process through American Home Shield was pretty good. I always thought I'd have to call them and persuade them that I really had something wrong. But they just charged me the $100 and then sent somebody out. Having them as my warranty provider, there's not really a hassle, and I can get somebody out.

    I just use the phone, and submitted the claim by phone. That was speedy. However, the last service was not prompt. It took two weeks or more to get somebody out here. And then somehow or another, they didn't get here. They had to cancel and reschedule. And the first time, it did not get fixed. But this was very prompt, which I appreciated. Also, the contractor was very good and professional. He just didn't fix it the first time. He had to come back, and that required another two-week wait. I like this service.

    There was a leak in the ceiling coming from one of the bathrooms and I called American Home Shield. The repair guy was very professional, knowledgeable, informative, warm and friendly. One leak that he wasn't able to handle because it was coming from the outside had to be done by some other contractor but he did what he could. He looked at where the leak was coming from, and he said it was something that was very loose and he tightened it up. I asked him to look at the ceiling in the basement where it was going and he did. It stopped the leak and it made me feel better. There was more to do to take care of it being workable for day-to-day use but there wasn't anything more he could do. He did what he was supposed to do and it has worked fine.

    My water heater suddenly started leaking. AHS scheduled a plumber and they're still working on the repairs. But it was easy. They have to replace the water heater and it's not all covered. I've had other repairs in the past and AHS has had the vast majority of the costs in the past. Their warranty reduces the out-of-pocket expenses in exchange for a monthly fee.

    I had some plugs that weren’t working. I called the insurance company. They listened to me, and then said they would get me some help.     We've had a policy with AHS for several years and one of the biggest challenges that we've experienced recently is communication. It seems, primarily over the past year, they've outsourced their customer service to other countries. It's really difficult sometimes even just to understand. There are translating machines that interpret and then they respond. And it's sometimes difficult to understand just with that. It's definitely challenging when I call, and I have to stay on hold for an hour or so. Then I'm not able to request them to transfer to another department, because they say they don't have the ability to do that.

    When you ask a question, it’s like they’re reading from a script. I'm like, “I don't want to answer the same 20 questions, again, that I just answered yesterday or two hours ago. Can you please just connect me with someone else?” They say, “Nope, can't do that." We try to be as kind and patient because I understand. If another country outsources to us, they might not understand my language, speaking quickly, etc. So no disrespect to anybody at all, but it’s helpful when they listen, slow down and let me ask questions. And they're not doing that. They're working at whatever timeframe, and maybe there's apprehension about, “No, we need to speak to someone else." Like, “Are we going to get in trouble?”

    Recently, we've had trouble with the plumbing service requests that started back in the middle of May. We had trouble with cancellations from the vendors, and just major discrepancies in what was being communicated. We’ve had to call so many times. We've taken off to be able to just do those things, and ended up in the situation where finally the vendor cancelled. Instead, we asked them to get us a different plumbing company, which was great, because we were very skeptical.

    We've discovered through the past year that American Home Shield doesn't appear to do any background checks on customer service in as far as vendors. I don't know what the protocol is for selecting, but if you go to the Better Business Bureau with the state of California, there are some of the companies that have horrible ratings and complaints have been filed. We have had to cancel an order because we don't want that company and just hope that if we do another request, the gamble will work that we’ll get a different company. So, this past year has been really a challenge more than it has been in prior years.

    We had a problem with our air conditioner and the guy from American Heating and Air came over within two days, which was great. I had no problem setting up the appointment. When he got here on the 23rd of June, he found that there was a motor that needed to be replaced. He sent the order over the next day through their portals. On Monday, I called American and asked what was going on and they said they never got the order. That was not the first time that they said they never got the submission from the contractors saying what the problem was. It's like a delay tactic.

    Nobody called me from American Home Shield and American Heating to tell me what was going on. So I had to call back several times and be on hold forever, and asking them the status of the order. I found out first from American Heating that the part was backordered. They couldn't even get it and American Home Shield couldn't get it. I understand that we have supply chain issues with COVID. But the thing is, somebody should have called and told me that. I shouldn't have to call them. I called back American Home Shield asked how long would the part gonna take and they said they didn't know. So we had to go out and buy a window unit for our bedroom so we could sleep. We live in South Texas and it's 90 degrees with 100% humidity here. We've been without AC for almost a month now. But American Heating was really nice. They've done what they needed to do.

    I called American Home Shield yesterday because I had an issue with my microwave, and it had to be replaced. They told me that they would send me an email about my options. But they didn't send an email. I had to call them back to ask about my options. They said, “Well, you can go out and buy a new one, and you have up to $307.70.” I asked them if I could get that writing and they said, “Well, it's in your record.” It was like they didn't want to tell me anything in writing. Now, they're going to give me money for a microwave, but I gotta pay somebody to install it.

    With our air conditioner claim, I asked American Home Shield how long I would have to be without AC before they were going to replace the unit. They said, “Well, anywhere from 21 to 30 days. I asked them if they have that in writing but they wouldn't give me that either. If they can stand behind their product and their service, then they should be able to give it to me in writing without reservation. American Home Shield needs to improve in their communication and follow up.

    If I pay American Home Shield $75 a month for 14 years that I've been in this house, that's $12,600. I could just be putting that money away and if I had to replace my AC system, I'd have the money. I had another problem with my AC from before and they were gonna send me a check for something. I told them that I didn't want their money. I wanted them to fix it. When they noticed that I never cashed their check, I sent a letter to them explaining why I didn't cash in the check.

    Family Heating & Air did an excellent job for my AC. The only thing is, it took about a month to get everything in, but it was because of the situation in parts and stuff coming in. Once they got here, the crew that put the parts in were very professional. They showed up one time and installed it and explained it to me and I was very happy.

    Submitting a service request online to American Home Shield was kind of complicated because you couldn't really explain everything that you needed done. So I usually just call, and when I call, I’ve been able to get through pretty fast and explain to them what I need. They can probably do something as far as the online experience. They don't give you too many options. They just say, “Air conditioner, blah, blah, blah.” They don't really give you a chance to explain what you want or if you want something else done. But I'm happy with American Home Shield. I've had them for a while now.

    The contractor looked at all the pipes in the basement where the plumbing goes up to the toilet. They put paper stuff underneath it and said there was no leak. He looked at everything and even sent pictures. There's a stain on the floor that we thought was a leak and it's not a leak. So, the guy who laid the tiles is going to come out and see if he can get the stain out. My husband and I are completely satisfied. It was great and I love those guys. They’ve come out every time we’ve had a problem. American Home Shield is available when I call. They always send emails out saying what's going on and what company's coming out to do the service. I have no complaints with anybody who came out through AHS in all the years we’ve had our contract with them.

    All of a sudden, the AC unit wasn't cooling. That was when we called American Home Shield and they sent out A.R.T. Heating & Air Conditioning. The tech looked at it and said a blade was damaged. When he finally pulled that, the fifth blade was sort of half gone. He told me he didn't know about the compressor. We got my water hose and cooled it off. He told me the compressor was still fine. He told me he was not sure about the motor and we had to wait and see. He also told me he would submit it to American Home Shield. Then I had a message to call him and I did. He told me I needed to call American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield and talked to some girl. The phone system with her was terrible because she sounded like she was in a drum and I couldn't understand her easy. She said because of a secondary situation that the shroud was damaged, American Home Shield would not cover anything having to do with my AC unit. I asked, "Do you have any suggestions for options?" She said, "No, sir. All I know is we can't cover it." I'm not happy. Everybody's telling me they're not going to fix it. It's outdated so I'm gonna have to replace the outside unit and the inside unit. I'm having to scurry around trying to find somebody. My house has been without air conditioning now for well over a week and it's Texas weather right now. It's hot.

    My hot water heater went out about two years ago. American Home Shield said they didn't cover that. I also had a deep freeze go out in my garage and they told me they didn't cover that either. But other than that, everything that I have had gone wrong that American Home Shield would cover in my house, I have been more than satisfied with the way things were done. We have recommended them to quite a few of our friends 'cause they've asked about it. I have given descriptions of some things that American Home Shield has done for us and how it has saved us some money, time and trouble. Everything that American Home Shield has done for us with the exception of one or two times they sent us a plumbum repair service has been fine.

    My outside unit stopped responding for about five hours or more. It came back on but I made a service call with AHS because I wasn't sure if it was going to happen again and I wanted to know if the tech could find any issue. The claim process was easy but I reached out on the Monday after the 4th of July, so everybody was off and I couldn't get anybody out here right then and there. But most AC unit repair people work every day, 24 hours a day, doing emergencies. The tech didn't come out until Wednesday and luckily, it wasn't too hot that day and the AC came back on.     Over the last six months, we've had two incidents that I've reported to American Home Shield. And they haven't fixed anything. I'm currently in the process of following up with the Better Business Bureau. It's one of those things where I double-checked after we did it to make sure it wasn't a scam. Because it seems like it. I had one incident where there was something wrong with my fridge, and there was something wrong with my microwave and oven. So, I called AHS. They sent somebody out. He fixed an element in the stove. But the other two things weren’t fixed. And then, I called the guy, and I never got a callback. Then, I called again and never got a callback. I called AHS and said, “Hey, your guy hasn’t come out to fix it yet. Come on. Let’s change it.” I followed up seven times, never sent somebody out, never followed up with me on it. Besides, I'm out of warranty now because why would I keep spending money on it if it ain’t working?

    So, now, I have to pay for it. And I paid for the warranty. Then, it was a day before my warranty expired. I had a leak. I had sweating in my basement because of the furnace. But I was unsure if it was the water heater or the AC unit. It was something with the ac or the furnace. So, the guy came out, he fixed it. He was great.

    I called AHS on a Friday at 7:00, Eastern time. And they were like, “We can't do an emergency, you're gonna have to wait till Monday.” Monday was a holiday. It was something where it was, “No, nobody's gonna call me on that day. I'm gonna have to wait till Tuesday.” And then they're like, “Well, if they call you Tuesday, they might be out Thursday or Wednesday.” I said, “I have flooding in my basement. I have a baby. My wife has postpartum, and a four-year-old. That’s not really working for me. I'm gonna have to sit here all night, trying to get water out of my basement so all my belongings in my basement, finished, aren’t ruined. And the guy was, “Yeah, that's our policy.”

    Then, I ended up speaking to somebody and getting them to do an expedited order. But they said it's not going to matter because all the businesses in my area, none of them are going to call me back because they're all closed. So, they said, “We can do an expedited order, but they're just not gonna order it.” Because I ended up waiting a week with a flooded basement. And they didn't do anything. I paid for nothing. I ended up having to pay the guy because AHS was like, “Yeah, we're not going to cover it.”

    I ended up having to pay the guy 440 bucks for him to fix my air conditioner. Because they said that he had to take apart some things that weren't supposed to be taken apart or something. I stayed out of it. I just want to pay and be done with it. So, I'm currently in the process of filing Better Business Bureau. They said, “Hey, we're going to be there for you. Cover yourself with this and this.” That’s a bunch of **. Whenever I talk to anybody, Realtors are like, “Yeah, it’s a scam. They don't cover anything.” They say they do, but they don't when it comes down to it because of all the policies and procedures that are in place between the call and the fix. I've had three different people over to look at it. None of them do business with AHS because they are such a pain in the ** to deal with.

    I've asked for a reimbursement. I've asked for another year of coverage. Every time I talk to somebody, they put me on hold, and then it hangs up. It's one of these things where I paid the money. I've done all of it. It's only a couple 100 bucks to get it. But I know how to legally file on court to get money back. It's just ridiculous. I'm in the process of trying to get my money back from the initial filing so I can use that towards my air conditioning unit. But I can't even talk to them to get them to give me my money back. It's one of those things where it seems like a company where they will eventually close down because it's ran horribly. One of those things where it’s like, “There will be some lawsuit eventually, and I'll join ship on it.”

    I had a pipe leak in my ceiling. They scheduled me pretty quickly, and the technician who came in did a great job of diagnosing the issue and fixing it. He fixed the leak, but he had to cut a hole in the ceiling in order to access the pipe. So, it took another day for a new person to come out and fix that hole that was created. The main issue I had was the coverage that American Home Shield provided. The water itself caused some damage to my ceiling, and they didn't cover that. That cost me more out of pocket to get it fixed. They said it's their process that they don't cover the actual damage from something like that. They expect folks to go through insurance. Unless it's kind of catastrophic, you're kind of in a place where the insurance is not paying for it either.

    I don’t like how American Home Shield uses that Philippine company on the weekends in the call center. I know that companies got to cut costs, do what they got to do. The one person that I talked to was very knowledgeable, was very good at what she does, and I appreciate that. But a lot of people that are far away don't understand home problems that you're having in Indiana versus in the Philippines. And then AHS assigns people from these area codes that are outside of Chicago. They pick massive area codes, and those people do not even come out to Indiana. 312 is Chicago. We live in Northwest Indiana. It's 219 area code. So, they should get a company that is located in 219.

    Also, AHS sent Sears over here. That guy was a clown. He came and looked at my washer and dryer. But he didn’t want to do anything. He just came out here. He didn’t want to get his hands dirty, and wanted to just drive around his truck all day. We've had another guy out here from Anderson Heating Appliances who is working on my stove. But they don't have the part. They had to backorder it. But they have fixed my dishwasher. Also, we had a storm over here. The power went out. And on the box itself, it says there are two switches to the air conditioning. So I hit those. But the tech said it was the upper switch that was causing the problem so he fixed it.

    We had our AC unit go out so American Home Shield sent a vendor out to replace it. Being on digital, the claim submission process was amazing, and extremely fast turnaround within minutes to assign me a person. Then even the call from the vendor was on the same day, and they said, “We can fit you in today,” the same day I submitted.

    However, the tech was extremely rude. He didn't explain what he would be doing or why he was doing it. I'm in an interracial relationship. He was fine with me and smiling, but then when he met my husband, his whole demeanor changed. Then I'm not sure that the bill was accurate. He said he replaced the water pump and so I'm confused how my AC went out to have a water pump and a capacitor. I only know that because my ex-husband did heating and air. So a capacitor is part of it but I don't know if a water pump really got replaced. So it was a little awkward with the technician but American Home Shield was amazing.

    We found a leakage in the garden and the water was coming out from the ground. We filed this claim to American Home Shield and a contractor tried to find out the leakage. It turned out to be inside, not in the garden outside. It was from the heater and they repaired it. But we paid 2,300 out of our pocket which is a lot. They also made lots of holes on the walls. Now, we have a second thing which is to dry the wall, get out of the laminate and dry the ground. They get the job done but there is probably secondary damage during the process. During the plumbing process, they tried to find the first leakage. After they were gone, we found the second leakage. It was behind the fridge which caused an even bigger damage.

    We filed a second claim to American Home Shield and we got the second fix for the second leakage. But now, we're trying to fix the water damage on the wall. We call American Home Shield one or two times each year. The speed is okay but the service quality, mostly, depends on the contractor which American Home Shield might not be able to control.

    I'm really happy with AHS. They're great. I've had them for many years. The price increase over the past year was another thing that was worrisome though. It went from $65 to 88 something now. It’s a huge jump. I thought that that was quite an increase. I even shopped around. I was thinking of leaving AHS. Because there are places out there that are like $40 that offer the same coverage AHS does. I've been a customer for 15 years and I said, “Isn't there anything for customer loyalty, for being with somebody for so long, to have over a $20 a month increase?” And whoever I spoke with at the time said, “No,” so that was the end of it. But otherwise, service-wise, getting the job done, I have no complaints at all.

    I've been having trouble off and on over the past few years with our AC, where the unit kept losing the Freon. They knew that there was a leak somewhere and they’ve just been filling it up and putting a Band-Aid on it. But this time, the guy from State Heating that came out, said, “This is beyond fixable.” Then the compressor froze up and they dealt with the problem so quickly, I couldn't have been happier. The only problem is my out-of-pocket cost, I wasn't happy with that. Because I had to end up paying 1,824 in stuff that AHS didn't cover, which I thought was quite expensive. I'm grateful because I could have never afforded $4,000. But 1,800 is still a lot. But, I highly recommend State Heating. They were wonderful.

    Some of the selection choices when submitting claims online can be limiting. As a homeowner, you wonder if the issue fits into this certain category and that's been the biggest thing when trying to submit claims online. Also, the policy is not very clear in its language. You don't have a clear understanding of what is covered and not covered until the person arrives. It's better if I have the full details like if they come out for an AC and the refrigerant is not covered. But even though there are little quirks, I still tell people about AHS. Our experience with them has always been really good.

    Right now, I got a claim going with AHS. My AC's out. It's been almost two weeks since I made the claim. I called today and they still haven't assigned a contractor to it. Because the contractor that originally came out couldn't perform the job or wasn't physically unable to do the job because of the blowers in the attic. So, he couldn't get in the attic, that was why they were trying to find another contractor. I did another claim for my AC years ago and it took five days for the AC guy to come out. Then they had to order the parts, it was another four days, and then it was fixed. But, this time, it just seemed like it's taken a little longer. But other than that, I really haven't had any problems with AHS.

    I recently used it on my kitchen faucet and my bathroom faucet which were leaking. I made a claim for three leaks. It went well when the tech finally came out and took care of it. But he said that he was only assigned to do the two leaks. I called AHS and they said that they were going to make an add-on on it. So, I still have a work order for that third leak but they never contacted me yet to schedule an appointment to get that fixed. But AHS is a good warranty company to have for your home.

    American Home Shield's app is easy to use but it is limited. They should add the ability to put in comments. When I sent in a claim, I received a text that it's been assigned, who it's been assigned to, and the phone number to get in touch with them. I've had two contractors come out here recently. I've been having a problem with my dishwasher, and each time I have the problem with it, 4A would come out and they would clean the lines and they would run it and it would be fine. But when they left, it wasn't draining. Later on, we found out the reason it was draining was because they had to physically push the button in order to drain it. So I had put in another claim and American Home Shield sent out a different company. I told the new company that this has been an ongoing problem. Each time, we have to push the button but we didn't realize that because the handyman would come out and they would push it to drain it, it would drain.

    When the new company sent out a technician, I was not home. My daughter in law was there and the technician told her that he knew what the problem was. He replaced something. After he left, the dishwasher was no longer washing at all. So I put in a request for a follow up. When I put in the follow up, I had also put in for the refrigerator, and our contract had expired and I was on a new contract. So instead of being able to put in that this was a follow-up, I needed to put in a new request. I talked to Angelo from 4A and told him what had happened. He said, “Well, because another technician had worked on it, I would prefer that they finish the work they started,” which was very routine for the technicians that I've dealt with. 4A has always been professional. They've always dealt with the issue as I explained it to them. But I'm waiting to hear from American Home Shield and it's been several days.

    We've had air conditioning repair in the past through AHS. Now, our refrigerator's evaporator is broken. Submitting the claim was very easy just like it always is. They email us and say, "Please call to schedule." For the most part, they are able to come and get us in pretty quickly. This warranty, gives you a peace of mind that if something goes wrong, AHS will help find someone who knows what they're doing to fix whatever the issue is. It's a good investment.

    I am not very happy with American Home Shield. There have been some issues with my AC unit and it took a really long time to fix it. It was an issue from last year which got finally fixed in March of this year. Now, the same unit has broken again. They sent someone on Tuesday who supposedly fixed it. But a day later, we noticed that it's really not fixed. It's been really annoying.

    The contractor is good about calling me and they're also very good about blaming American Home Shield for issues. I don't think that I will continue staying with American Home Shield. It seems that they only give new customers a discount and loyal customers that have had the policy for 10 years keep getting their bills going up. I started paying 40 something dollars, and now it's $67 a month. If I put in my same home address on the American Home Shield's website, I can get a better rate. I tried calling customer service to see if they could do anything to give me something because I can get the same policy for the same house at a lower price. They said that's only for new customers so it doesn't seem like American Home Shield values loyalty.

    Our air conditioning doesn't seem like it's staying where it should. It's cooling, but it's still hot. I signed up on American Home Shield's website. I love it. It’s all right there. The tech said at first he thought it was the thermostat. But then he said, “No. The thermostat was sitting at all different settings.” And he switched that over. But my husband came home the other night, and he said, “It says it's 74.” But it was supposed to be set at 72. So, we think there's something wrong with the thermostat. But the tech went out and checked to see if the Freon was full. He seemed like he was new. He kept calling somebody to get information. He went over it. But he was a nice guy.

    The only thing that bugged me was the person that texted me that I thought I was in contact with wasn't the person that came to the door. Because I asked them to go ahead and go through the back door. I have my mother-in-law and father-in-law just moved in last week. I have three dogs and I didn't want them to bark. They came to the front door and rang the doorbell anyway. But that was it. We still think something needs to be done. My husband wanted me to call back and just have that done.

    It's been good with American Home Shield's customer service. There's only been one situation where they put in a wrong order that I had to call and clarify. But it wasn't that big a deal. Recently, Prime Plumbing Services came out for a couple of things. There was a stoppage in both the master bathroom and my son's bathroom. Also, our hot water heater was messed up. We had a plumbing company that came out before Prime and supposedly fixed our water heater. But it still wasn't hot so Prime came to do that.

    We had to recall because a week later, it still wasn’t hot. The plumber did the work but he didn't push the thing on the thermostat on it back over so it wasn't heating. Also, our drain was still stopped. The annoying part was it took a whole week to get it fixed. The person who came first didn't do the hot water heater right. When the second person came, he fixed the hot water heater but didn't have the equipment to fix the drain. We had to wait more days then a third person came and fixed the drain. But even from our water heater being fixed twice and the drains being cleared, American Home Shield paid for itself even just in those couple of visits. It's definitely a good investment and I will keep doing it. Their contractors are certified people that you can trust so it takes a lot of the hard work away from us.

    About six weeks after we had the American Home Shield plan, our fan mode to our air conditioner went out. We've lived here for 20 years, and it was the first problem we ever had with it. We had some guy that came out first that was a real big waste of time. He just ran in, ran out. Then he did some report that said the unit was installed wrong. It was really bizarre because we moved in here in ’99. The unit was in there. It's been running all that time. So, I don't know what the heck he was talking about. AHS sent somebody else out and the guy figured out right away that the issue was the fan motor. He just lickety-split took care of it. Now, it works great. It seems to work much better than it did for a while.

    The only thing that I found a little odd was when we called a couple of times to just check on the part because it had to be ordered. We were leaving town so we were just trying to figure out when the part might be coming. We had to go through the whole thing on the phone each time, down to every little question, and I could tell that that person already had the notes right there. So, I'm not sure why we had to go through the whole story every time we call. One other thing was when I got the contract, my name was spelled C-O-R-Y on the contract. But when they contact me by email or by any other form, they use the correct spelling of my name. It's no big deal.

    The annual fee for the coverage is worth it in terms of having an older home. However, it was difficult for me when I filed a claim for the dyer that was not drying clothes. At first I was referred to one company and no one had a record of it. The mix up may have come in where they texted True Vine to my daughter, but I had been given the name of another company that never did come out. We finally contacted True Vine and made some arrangements with them. Then the technician came out and addressed the issue. My daughter is satisfied with it, but I'm not. We have large drying towels and they don’t get completely dry so we have to do at least two cycles.

    On the AC unit, there is no one here that could come to do the work. But when the water heater was leaking, the contractor came in and fixed it. They had to replace it. They did a good job. Don't hire someone. Call insurance.

    Submitting the claim was very easy and simple. I just went to the website and put it in, and Edelen Door came the next day and everything was fine. I hoped that the same contractor would be used again, and they were. Also, the same guy came out for the service call and when he did the repair, everything was better and it works better.     Borderline Fraud. The American Home Shield approved vendor did a service call on our A/C and reported the parts needed to fix. While the fix was approved it still hasn't been repaired and it has been almost 2 months. I have paid for service call and extra parts. I have called several times and continue to get the run around, told I will get a call back (doesn't happen). Meanwhile it is 100 degrees and no A/C. Asking for a supervisor does nothing, they tell how long the wait is, they can't find one, etc. The A/C repair company is completely incompetent and I want a new company to come out that is local to our area. I have filed a complaint with BBB.

    We bought our home about seven weeks ago. There was an issue with the compressor on one of the aircons approximately 10 days after we moved in. We had American Home Shield send somebody out to do an investigation and they found it was the compressor. The air conditioner company would have had the repair done in 48 hours. We're still nowhere, and we keep getting this massive runaround that the parts are on order and it's in the approval process. The contractor doesn't answer their phone. They both push it back to each other. It's 90 some degrees here in Michigan and nobody cares.

    Then AHS called me and said, "You're gonna have an out of pocket of 500 and some dollars because your contract does not cover refrigerant." I said, "You are incorrect. The language on my contract because I am platinum very clearly says that disregard the cost for refrigerant because we're a platinum policy." After about four times telling him that, a lady came back on and said, "Okay. It appears you're correct." She was reading me the very paragraph on the contract that stated it was covered. Yet she was telling me it wasn't covered and that we owed money at the repair. So, I'm very disappointed. All I want done is to have my AC fixed. My wife is more upset than I am.

    I learned the hard way that in order to get something faster, you have to talk to a representative and not use the automated system. Otherwise, things are slow moving. I had an incident where we had to get service faster than American Home Shield's service provider could do. There was only one service provider in the area for plumbers and they were all booked up. It was more of an emergency service. And we discovered that after we placed the order.

    We ended up using a different company and then cancel their service order. And it just so happened on that same one, when they were processing my payment for the service, they must have done something wrong with the entry of the credit card number. Because it was the same number I used for my monthly payments that always go through. But for some reason that one didn't go through. And they kept trying over and over, kept sending me emails for two months saying, "Your account is past due,” because the payment could not be processed. I called several times saying the service was not needed. And they saw all that on the record. But it was almost like a technical issue in the background, where it kept trying to charge me. And then finally, they resolved that. It took them several phone calls. That was very frustrating.

    We're in the middle of a service one right now where the plumbers are coming out tomorrow. And we had two other small issues in the house over the last month or so. And this system has worked well. And we got service fast, and it was easy to use. Last fall when we signed up, they had on their website, even on the dashboard of my own account, that they were advertising to have a free service for your furnace to be checked out for the season to make sure everything was running okay. So I signed up for it. However, I didn't hear back for over a week. I had to call AHS. And it turned out that none of their contracted people in this area have agreed to be a part of that promotion. Nobody told me.

    I said, "It would be simple enough that when you're promoting that kind of a thing to know where somebody lives,” based on it was on my own dashboard, whether or not you should even advertise that for that individual. Or even easier than that, add just a little catchall or a footnote saying, “May not be available in all regions.” But it went on deaf ears because I kept seeing it on there.

    Read the contract really carefully, which I did. Know what's covered and not. Because there are some things that people might think are covered that wouldn't be. I had been given that advice by somebody who recommended them. And overall, it does seem to be a really good system. It's just a matter of how old your house is and how old the stuff is in it and where do you think you would need it a lot. After my bad experiences, I was about to cancel AHS. But I haven't cancelled. And I was like, "I guess I need them again. So let's try it." And my last two experiences have been great.

    My dryer stopped going round and round so I called American Home Shield to have it fixed. A tech called me when he was on his way. When he came in, he said the dryer was easy to fix. He had it fixed within 10 minutes and it worked out great. I've had American Home Shield for probably 10 years. They are inexpensive and the service person is sent out right away. The only downside is usually, the providers don't work weekends. But we can work around that. On the whole, American Home Shield is consistently reliable. Normally, if something can be fixed, they will fix it instead of suggesting getting a new one. They give me comfort knowing that if something goes wrong, I can depend on them.

    When my refrigerator wasn't latching, American Home Shield took care of everything. Someone came by and assessed the situation, and then they ordered the parts, which took a while. When the parts came in, they put them in the refrigerator so it can latch. I've had other repairs as well and I like them a lot. The only thing I didn't like was replacing my dishwasher. My dishwasher stopped working for some reason and the part that needed to be replaced wasn't being sold anymore. AHS had to replace the whole dishwasher, but they only gave me an amount, so I had to get a different brand. The brand that I had before matched the rest of my appliances. Everything besides that has been excellent.

    My dishwasher stopped working so my dishes were not getting clean. The person came out and fixed the dishwasher. We use our dishwasher one to two times every day so it helped drastically.     I was trying to remove something in the night, but in the morning, the microwave went out. I called and I told American Home Shield what happened, that I turned on the microwave and it gave out a really bad noise and it just went out.     The dryer has been repaired through American Home Shield about three times. Not only as American Home Shield, but we as the insured have paid more than what the thing was worth. We both have a lot of money invested in it, and it's a basic dryer. So, I'm hoping that next time if that breaks, they just replace it instead of repairing it.     We had an air conditioning unit that needed repair. The first time I tried to call American Home Shield, the person had no idea of how to handle the claim. At first, I thought it was a minor issue and had somebody we knew come out to take a look at it. They diagnosed the problem and told me what was wrong. Then American Home Shield wanted to send me to a whole new person to start over. I'm not very happy with it and I don't think they did a particularly good job on this. I'm reluctant to have to use them again.

    The contractor knew exactly what the problem was and had pictures of the unit. The one that came out the second time sent a more experienced person who said the unit can be fixed but they are notoriously low quality and we’d just end up fixing it again in a couple of years. It took three or four days for American Home Shield to send the approval to the contractor. Then the part was on hold. It's been 90 something degrees plus every day so finally, we just had to replace the whole unit instead of waiting on American Home Shield to get it repaired.

    My daughter smelled something burning about three days prior and then, we realized that the thermostat hasn't been shutting off. It would keep running even if you turn it off and the house was not cooling. I called it in to American Home Shield on Saturday and a guy came out on Monday and looked at it. Everybody was closed for the 4th of July weekend and he couldn’t get the part. The very next morning, a different guy from the same company came out and switched out the pieces. The switch and everything in there was burnt and he had to redo the wiring. The outside one wasn't shutting off either and he did the same thing. AHS is great. It was a $75 co-pay and it probably would have been several hundred, especially with it being a holiday weekend, to even get somebody out. So we were impressed that the repair guys came as quickly as they did.

    We've been using American Home Shield's service for quite a few years now and the claims process is not too cumbersome. There have been times when the contractor calls back sooner and sometimes a little longer. But in general, they contact us within 24 hours. But I'm disappointed with the AC claim that we submitted. My wife was here when the contractor came and they found that it looked like there could be a leak of Freon from the unit outside. When I got home, I asked her, “How’s it feel?” She said it feels better. But better doesn't mean that it's fixed. When I put my hand up into the vent, it feels cooler than before, but it doesn't seem like it's running properly. So I'm concerned whether the fix was an actual fix. So as of right now, I'm not satisfied yet. We're gonna wait a few more days. The weather's drop has gotten cooler, so the unit's not gonna work as hard. So it's gonna feel cooler.

    When a contractor comes and services the air conditioning unit, sometimes it would end up being a plumbing issue. But when it becomes a plumbing issue that affects your AC unit, the contractor that comes out won't touch it to confirm if in fact it's a plumbing issue. That was very disappointing when I personally experienced it. So here you're having an issue with the unit not running and they couldn't find the issue. Finally, what happened was that the drainage for one of the units that we were having to use, the moisture was being dripped into the plumbing. It went to our bathroom and it was connected to the trap.

    The trap was clogged so the water was backing up all the way up to the pan. The pan would fill up. The float would rise, and then it would turn off the unit. We didn't know why the water was being filled up in the unit. I told the technician, “Well, I'm wondering maybe if we're not getting drainage because it might be clogged in the trap.” The technician said to me, “Well, we don't touch it. We don't touch that kind of stuff.” So they came out to bill something that they didn't fix.

    I ended up checking it myself and you don't even need tools to disconnect the trap. I just removed a couple things, went underneath, and unhooked everything. It was real simple. It was completely clogged. Then I went up and the technician said, “So, it looks like it's working. What did you do?” I told him the issue was the trap. He said, “Oh, I'm gonna make a note of it.” So now he was gonna make a note that the issue was the trap and yet he wouldn't even check it. This was really strange.

    My water heater was leaking and the repair guy switched something out on it. It worked fine from there. I had one other claim with American Home Shield and they did good on that, too. We are able to get things done by having AHS because we’re not mechanically inclined that much, so it’s good to have someone come out and know exactly what's wrong..

    The AC unit started out not cooling the lower level and that was when I called American Home Shield. Before the contractor was able to get in here, the upper level wasn't being cooled. At first, my son who looked at it thought it was maybe a damper. A tech came out, looked at it, and said that the air conditioner was fine. The freon was good. He went up, looked at the filter and made sure the dampers were working properly. I don't know what he did, but they're working now. American Home Shield sounds good on paper and though I haven't had a big claim yet, it’s worked so far. However, I wasn't aware that when I signed up for, we were going to be limited to certain providers. I would have liked to been able to have the policy, call somebody, have them fix it, then have them bill American Home Shield.

    Contractors use American Home Shield as a lead to make money. And the thing is is they're not just wanting to make what the job is actually worth. They're trying to make all of their money in one place. They don't have any sort of competitive pricing and are trying to milk homeowners for everything they're worth Their contractor May Heating and Air quoted me $1,194 to put seven and a half pounds of coolant that costs 30 bucks a pound in my system. I found several companies that were local that would come out, charge my system, and replace the evaporator coil which is a $250 part. They would do the job for almost $700 cheaper than May Heating and Air.

    With AHS, I've never had issues as far as appliance repair is concerned. But as far as HVAC is concerned, it is an absolute nightmare. I still don't have a working AC in my house right now. because I'm not going to give May Heating and Air $2,100 for a job that should cost like 1,000 bucks. I am so furious with AHS because they have no interest in actually solving the issue. Also, all of their support representatives are overseas. Another thing that annoys me is that I've been telling them to change the name for my policy to Roger Crawford because I'm the one that pays for it.

    We had a plumbing issue where the pressure of the water was very low. I called American Home Shield and they scheduled Draingo to come out. They did a great job and fixed the issue. The second time they came out was because they asked to order parts. We received the parts on time and they came right out and installed them.

    American Home Shield's claim process was very simple. You just log in to your account and do two clicks. They scheduled the service within two minutes. And the people that were supposed to come out came out three days after. They ordered parts that we are going to receive within seven days. We actually received the parts within five days. The only thing is American Home Shield should let the customer have the ability to choose who they want to work with. Some service providers that I’ve had a claim in the past were not good people. Other than that, the home warranty seems okay.

    The contractor was on top of my claim. They came out the same day that I filed it and it took them a couple of days to get the parts for American Home Shield to approve it. It was all very smooth. I've recommended family already to American Home Shield and they have the policy. It's a good policy to have. Sometimes, you look at the monthly cost of it and think it's $30 you could be putting in your pocket. But in reality, when it comes down to having to replace or repairing big appliances, it's well worth the cost in the long run. One thing I wish they did cover though was soft water systems. I have to renew my policy by the 16th and I don't see it on there.

    The signal going to the air conditioning to like to turn on and cool was not working. The techs came out and fixed it. A couple days later, it did break. It was working fine for a little bit. A person I worked with for AHS was very helpful. I had some problems getting the first contractor out here, so they scheduled the AC Pro Heating & Cooling. They came out the next day. I sent them my new requests yesterday, so they're coming out again today.

    I like American Home Shield's service but when we have a service call for the air conditioning unit, it goes out around the same time every year for the same issue. It’s been going on for 10 years. With a recent call, I was talking with the technician and asked him, “How come y’all can’t replace it?” The contractor recommended we need to get it replaced but they said American Home Shield will not pay for it because our unit is an older unit. It's the same situation with our heating system.

    The issue that I have when our air conditioner or heater would go out around the holiday is that when they send the order out, we probably are not going to receive a call back from that company until about four or five days later. This means that if it’s in the winter, we're in the cold for about three to four days. Or if it’s in the summer, then we're in the heat three or four days. It would be nice that if the unit did go out around the holidays and the service request was sent out, somebody would immediately contact us and come out. That would be even better service. Overall, American Home Shield is a good service just as long as you don’t need it immediately.

I called American Home Shield on Friday night to make a claim and the lady that I spoke to was maybe Chinese-speaking, so it was a little hard to understand her.     The garbage disposal was leaking whenever it ran. I put in a claim to American Home Shield, and they dispatched the technician. He came out, and he’s very good and corrected it. The AHS contractors are very professional and very knowledgeable. The only thing was we got hit once when the HVAC unit went out. When the house was built, it was no longer built in code spec. So, the warranty didn't cover it. Unfortunately, the only complaint I've got with Home Shield is they never told us it was never covered.

    I had a leak that was nothing but a coupling that came apart that was supposed to take the water away from the air conditioner out to the exterior. That was repaired within 10 minutes for $75. I don't expect AHS to change their fee but I do think some of the other things they offer needs to be simplified. I called to find out if I could get a resource in order to do a maintenance check on my AC. I've seen emails of that service being offered through AHS. But when I called, I found out they couldn't book me or source me. I had to go to such and such.com and go through this independent partner in order to gain and make an application. The service is offered through AHS but you have to go through a whole ‘nother situation to set up a maintenance check to make sure that your coils are cleaned which is something that's standard at $75. They could improve on that. You want to call one place and get it done.

    I’m glad I’ve got American Home Shield. It’s good if you have a problem, but my air conditioner claim never got resolved by them. First technician that came out found some wires that were burnt, so we had to call an electrician and we had to wait three days for him to come. When the electrician came, he fixed the wires, then we had to wait for the air conditioning person to come back. The air conditioning person came back and looked at it, then we had to call a plumber because he thought the line could be stopped up. It went on and on and we had to go without air conditioning. It was frustrating overall. I spent quite a bit of money on service calls and I still don't know why my unit was doing what it was doing. It never got resolved until my husband finally got to come (he’s been out of town), looked at it and fixed it. The technician that came right after him said, “Well, he did what I was gonna do to it.”

    I don't know that I should have to keep paying a service fee over and over for the air conditioner, but other than that, the people that I spoke to were very nice, and they were very good about trying to resolve the problem. The technicians that came out were very nice except the plumber my son talked to. He was not very polite. On the other hand, the electrician was wonderful. The second air conditioning people AHS sent out, Air Majesty, was very nice as well. American Home Shield seems like they want to please people, and I appreciate that too. I would recommend the warranty especially for someone buying a new house because people don't know what they're getting. Even if they have the house inspected, things pop up, still. Having a warranty is a must and I intend to buy it again next year too.

    My experience this time was quite good. I'd like to see the good service continued. A gentleman came in and I told him what the problem was. He looked at it, confirmed it, and fixed it. It was probably one of the best American Home Shield responses I ever had. In previous responses, they got things resolved but it took forever and it was very frustrating. A lot of the times, I get, “We're waiting for parts.” When you're waiting an inordinate amount of time, you get frustrated. Sometimes, the repair is necessary in a quick fashion. I'm 90 years old and if my air conditioning goes out, I don't want to sit here and wait a week or two before it gets resolved and they’d be telling me, “We have to get you a new one.” That is not acceptable in my senses.

    When something is described as being very bad, American Home Shield should evaluate where they are and not make it such a rigid rule that you've got to wait till four people say it's no good before they believe it's no good. I know a lot of people who are frustrated with the American Home Shield and as soon as they get a claim, they get that fixed, and they cancel because they don't anticipate getting any good next time. Unfortunately, that's the reputation they've built over the years. It's better now though.

    On some requests, American Home Shield's coverage is good, and on others, it's not so satisfactory. The most recent visit was on the washer and refrigerator two weeks ago. Within a couple of hours of putting in the request, the service company who was assigned the job called in and then fixed up an appointment. The technicians showed up on time, spent time diagnosing the problem, and then came back on the scheduled date and fixed it. It went very smooth.

    The visit prior to that was on my water heater. The technicians came out, looked at it and said it had to be replaced. I thought it was going to be fixed and if it couldn't be fixed, it would be replaced and I'd give equal value to that. However, I still had to pay $1,000 on top of the service request call. $1,000 is a big, unexpected expense on my side. The visit prior to that, I had some issues with the flush tanks and they replaced the float valve. To the technician's credit, he asked me, "Is it okay if I replace it with a generic brand? Because the same brand is going to be one week or two weeks waiting time." I said yes, but that was not a good decision on my part.

    One Way Electric came out to look at the ceiling fan. They said the wires were crossed some kind of way. The wires in the wall where the switch is were put in the wrong way. So, the light wouldn't come on. The tech went into the wires in the ceiling fans and the problem was not there. Then he took the bracket off the light switch. Then he went in a light switch and he found what the problem was. He said he had to patch the wires so the right ones will be attached to the right wires. He put the plate back on and then the fan started working.

    He was excellent. He was very professional and on time. He called me and let me know what time he was gonna be here. Then he finished a little bit earlier at the place that he was at so he called me and told me he was gonna come earlier. He asked if I would mind if he would come early and I told him no. He came and he was really polite. I asked him if he wanted to use my ladder. He said no. He had his own ladder.

    As far as Home Shield, they're good but they're a little expensive. At first, they were charging me one price, and then later on, after about six months, it went up $20 and I was already paying a high deductible. Then they don't cover everything. I got a sprinkler system. I was surprised that it wasn’t covered. I thought they covered plumbing but they said that wasn't plumbing. They said they don't do concrete either.

A gentleman by the name of Mike was very pleasant and professional. He was in here, got the unit swapped out, and was in and out in 40 minutes max. Very much so that you don't have to worry about things like that - furnaces and air conditioners and what have you going out at a time when it's less than financially desirable.     Submitting a claim with AHS is somewhat difficult. I hope you could get in touch with a person faster instead of having to press a variety of buttons and waiting on hold. For my recent claim, the tech from Express Appliance Service did a good job. The only difficulty I have is a small issue now with it and I haven't called. Something isn't done quite right. I thought it was complete, but the knob turns in one direction but not the other. It's too tight. I can’t turn it the other way. I'm not sure how to get in touch and ask about it without putting another claim.

    I called American Home Shield and told them that my Maytag wasn't working. They came back within 24 hours and told me that the contractor would be contacting me. The contractor did, a day later, and we made an appointment. The unit needed a new starter panel and a switch that the contractor came and put in the other day. The only downtime was American Home Shield because the contractor had to go through them to purchase the parts. It worked better when the contractor got the part themselves. Other than that, the process is seamless. I love American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has helped us a lot. We've had problems with our washing machine and our dryer several times and they fixed them. But for the air conditioning, it wasn't anything in the air conditioner itself. It was the air conditioner hose and a contractor fixed it. After they came the first time, they said it was fixed. But we kept looking out there and we never saw any water so we called again. Another guy came out from the same place, but he said we wouldn't see water there. It was all cleared out but he showed us where the water was dripping.

    I've been with American Home Shield since 2004 and it’s been beneficial. The only thing that wasn't beneficial was a couple of years ago, my air condition unit went out. It was four months before I could get my air conditioner back up and running. Apart from that, it was okay. They gave me money to do my double oven and then, some ceiling fans. It’s been good for that portion. They were also on point and on time.

    My electrical panel continued to pop. I did the initial troubleshooting as a regular homeowner and reset the breakers and made sure I had power to the house. I could not get power to my bedroom or my office. I went into my contract with American Home Shield and made sure I was covered because I have a pretty extensive contract. I found out I was so I made a claim. They said to expect a phone call within a business day. It was two business days when I finally heard from the contractor. There were extremely low reviews about experiences with this contractor so I was a little nervous. But when their tech came to my house, he was very respectful and knowledgeable. He did his troubleshooting and he fixed the problem. The repair provided power to my outlet and everything is perfect now.

    As far as a home warranty company, we've had great success with AHS. I don't know too much about home warranty companies, but I would definitely recommend them for somebody who's looking for that thing. Their claim submission process has been very easy and they're very informative and efficient. Our recent claim with AHS went well. Somebody came in and fixed the garbage disposal. They were in and out of here very quickly. They took care of the problem and were very nice.

    I've been a customer for many years in New Jersey and because I was so happy that when we got our place in Pennsylvania, I automatically took coverage because American Home Shield does a great job. The service was great as well as the people they used. I had an issue with the refrigerator and the repair guy diagnosed that there was an internal leak of the refrigerant that could not be repaired. The refrigerator they wanted to replace with was not available so I applied for the credit. It seems the settlement is gonna work.

    I bought a home warranty for my clients. American Home Shield stated that my clients would have to pay a $75 Service fee and they would come out and either fix or replace if they cannot fix. My clients have called me complaining that the home warranty now wants to make them pay $1000 so you fix it and this is the second call out.

    An overhead fan was malfunctioning and a security light outside had blown two bulbs. We called AHS at one time to ask for these two things to be repaired then a fellow came out from R&R and fixed the fan. He was friendly, professional, and was in and out in 15 minutes. He did a splendid job and the fan is now working properly. But the request for help with the security light seemed to have dropped down a rabbit hole. When we called R&R, all we got was was this 5-minute recording of how they wouldn't help us.

    About American Home Shield's overall service, I feel good. I have been satisfied with the response from most of the contractors. Most recently, we had an issue with our stove. When I initially called in the work order, we were assigned Silverstar. I just had to call and say we really needed to have another contractor because we had them in the past, and they were nice but they don't know what they're doing. They’re just not high in knowledge of appliances. It ended up with me being out of my appliance, which at that time was the stove, for nearly a month because they ordered the the wrong part initially. Then when the young man came to put it on, he put it on incorrectly.

    What really upset me the most about it was he put it on incorrectly, and when I called to tell them, “Okay, it's not working,” they put me back in the queue in the back of the line. It was like another week before he came back. I was very upset about that. I was like, “He just was here yesterday.” And to me, that should also be upsetting for the person who's doing the work because he had just been here yesterday and it was probably still fresh in his mind. But the lady on the phone refused to put me in the front of the line. I was really upset about that.

    Overall, we have been somewhat pleased with American Home Shield, but all of the contractors are not equal. If you get Silverstar, they are not great. There was another one that was not great, but then we have had some that have been wonderful. For example, the young man that came last week did the diagnostic over the phone with streaming, ordered the part, and in less than 24 hours, it was fixed. So, it’s very hit or miss with the contractors.

    I called American Home Shield and spoke to one of their representatives. They got in touch with the local locksmith and the locksmith got in touch with us. We arranged the time and they came out. They were done with all the locks and re-keying probably within an hour. They did a good job. American Home Shield saved us about $100 as opposed to doing it ourselves. It was worth it for that purpose.

    It has been a long process. This has been going on since March and it was several companies that came out. First, it was the heat then it was the air. I was also told different things. They said "Somebody is coming. They're gonna call you." But they didn't call. I had to follow-up. Comfort First Heating & Cooling was the last one that came and they were really professional but it was the diagnosing that was the issue.

    I had problems with American Home Shield because I waited two weeks. We have been going through this for a while when the house gets up to 98 or 99 degrees and I couldn't keep going places. I kept doing this last year with the air. This last time, it was so bad that the unit that I did purchase before totally went out. They finally came back and I was thinking maybe it was the outdoor system but the gentleman said it was the blower. But they had to make sure it went out again. I've been trying to monitor it but I'm exhausted. My dog died yesterday and I don't know if it was because of all the back and forth with the heat. She was only five.

    If the unit goes out again, I don't understand why American Home Shield won't replace the unit. Also, they give me a company, say it's a different company but it's the same company with a different name. When they couldn't do it and I happened to call a company which they use, they were telling me to pay for the service since I chose them. I was already paying and I gotta pay another service fee which is crazy. American Home Shield should get their quality people that can come out, do the service and try to address it rather than people going through stuff for a long time and I will have to always follow up.

    There have been times when the service has been good. At American Home Shield, some of the representatives are phenomenal. They try to do what they can but I have noticed that it seems like some of these companies aren't reputable. I even suggested that a particular company can do it but they don't use certain companies. I'm praying that it's not about saving money and trying to get certain companies to come who don't do the job right.

    We were having trouble with the touch panel. It wasn’t receiving different signals or pushing the buttons wasn't working correctly. A gentleman with AA came on time and he was clean. He was respectful of my home. He saw what the problem was. He even noticed something else that was an issue that would later on cause me problems. He gave me recommendations on something else that I could do to help extend the lifetime of my appliance. As for my claim, he put in an order and he left me with a receipt. It didn't take long for the parts to come and AA was able to schedule overtime visits quickly. Their tech came out and fixed the part easily.

    American Home Shield's claim process is easy and they even made it easier with this most recent time. When I called in to make my claim, they sent me a link where I was able to take photos of my appliance. That's more efficient and very beneficial so that the contractor doesn't come out expecting one type of equipment but it turns out to be a different type.

    When it comes to insurance, one would always think, “I'm never going to use it. What's the point of having it?" But having a home warranty is essential when you have a home. You rather have it than not have it. You can buy all brand new appliances but sometimes things happen. You would hate to have to pay full price to repair something versus just paying a deductible. For me, that is fairly reasonable so I've always been pleased with American Home Shield.

    Submitting the claim is easy online and American Home Shield generally gets back to you pretty quickly. When All and All Plumbing came out, they were pretty good. I had a leak, and I assumed and said that it was the faucet. But it may have been also the caulking around the sink. So it would have been helpful if they would have done that too. I had to go back out and then caulk the sink. But they worked fast. They did their job. It was all good.

    We had a washer that had parts that had to be ordered. So the contractor came out and looked at it. Then they offloaded it to Sears because it was a Kenmore. So it was dealing with American Home Shield and Sears that kinda created the problem. When Sears came, they didn't have the parts, so we had to wait weeks for the parts to come in. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant wasn't there when they came out one day. They didn't call us. We didn't know that they were coming. So no one was there. We tried to reschedule and that took place from April 29th until the 29th of June, with multiple attempts to get them back out there. I called American Home Shield and Sears. But one would tell me to call the other and no one showed up.

    I had a new tenant moving in. But Sears was gonna show up the day that the tenant was gonna move in after canceling or not showing up for three straight appointments. There was no one to call. When I called Sears, I had to wait for an hour for them to get to me. American Home Shield picked up right away, but they would try to call Sears, and they had to wait too. So nothing got resolved. It was frustrating. I had to literally call repeatedly to American Home Shield, and they finally did it. Getting in touch with American Home Shield wasn't a problem. It was just that they outsource the job to someone that was hard to get in touch with. But other than this one instance, the people that American Home Shield sent out did the job.

    I called Friday but couldn't get through to the serviceperson. American Home Shield said, "Call him direct if he doesn't call you right back." I called a couple of times on the weekend then on Monday, he got right back that morning and had him out Tuesday. The water wasn't coming in to my dishwasher and it was some like lint or string that got around the motor. He took it off and it's been working perfectly.

    I’ve been using American Home Shield since 2009 and I've got a water heater, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a garbage disposal. Now, they fixed my dishwasher. This is a 1969 townhome so things are going to go down. But whatever goes wrong, it gets immediate attention from American Home Shield and I don't have to worry about it. If I call them and they get on it immediately, it gets taken care of, and that's the way it should be. American Home Shield watches my back and I like that.

    My wife works from home and she uses an outlet in our kitchen area to connect all of her stuff. We have a toddler son that was messing around with it, so we had to call someone in.     Sometimes, it's a little hard to get through. More local companies that American Home Shield can get through here would help. Recently, the AC was working and then all of a sudden, it stopped working completely. AHS had put me down for another company coming out of Houston. It was going to take six days to come out. I have a heart condition. I have an elderly parent in the home. And then, I have a baby as well. So, I asked them if they could try to find somebody else.

    I called AHS and they got Air On Demand. I was happy with them. They came out the next morning, they repaired the unit and left, but it didn't cool. They said that whatever was wrong with it, the fan broke. So, they had to replace the fan outside. And then I had to call them that afternoon. I said that the air is not picking up. It was hot in the house. So, the tech came back and found out that it needed Freon. Also, they had to come back again. The little breaker box inside the AC was not touching. Ground was broken. They just completely fell off. So, there was no breaker box that was connecting. He had to redo that. He did a really good job. It just took several things and attempts to get it done. And before they took the ticket and went ahead and submitted it, all these things were wrong with it. Now, it's leveled. Hopefully, we won't have any more problems for a while.

    I had an AC issue and the technicians who came here said that it was working perfectly fine. However, the outside unit keeps on clicking on and off. It's right by my windows, so I hear it. It's 80 degrees in my house right now because the AC is not working and it'll probably get up to about 86 tonight. I told the technicians everything is not fine with the AC. I sent them videos of what it is doing and they got a supervisor involved. They are supposed to be coming out tomorrow with the guy and the supervisor.

    I've had this issue a lot. I've even had to replace the unit inside and out, which American Home Shield didn't pay for. This is an ongoing issue and even the technician that came out said he had been here before. I said, "Yeah, probably like 20 times." Even my teenagers said the technicians would have to be out here at least seven times because it's summertime. A guy that came out said I lost Freon and had to pay for it. American Home Shield would only pay $10. Unfortunately, it would take 20 pounds of Freon and I ended up having to pay $200. When I asked the guy, "Don't you think there's a leak somewhere?" He went upstairs and said something was leaking.

    American Home Shield does not always respond. I understand that the concept is the contractors. But I've been without an AC and it's going on a week now. Not to mention, I have another service ticket open with American Home Shield. My refrigerator went out and I've been without it for the same amount of time. They're saying they can't get the parts until July 11th so it'll be going on two weeks. I have kids and we're living out of a mini fridge right now. I appreciate the assistance and I know that the claim would be covered. I feel more confident in having them than having somebody else come out here because I feel like they would try to take advantage of you. But as far as claims being resolved in one trip, it's never the case.

    American Home Shield started doing a new video Zoom thing, where they look at the appliance and get the serial number. That was very smart because I was like, "They'll bring the part with them, I can tell them what it is." I told them what was wrong and the technicians still didn't bring the part. That was last week and I'm still waiting on parts for an oven.

    I've stayed with American Home Shield even though their rate keeps on going up but I really may reconsider and find another company. My copay and my monthly amount went up. The time that the people respond is taking longer and so is the time to repair and order parts. American Home Shield seems to be getting worse.

    The contractor did really good with our plumbing issue. They were quick and got it fixed. I also filed a claim for the AC unit out in the garage. I tried to call AHS and talk to somebody today but then I got disconnected. We did a service request a while back on the same AC unit out on our detached garage and I've had several different companies come out to look at it sent from AHS, but they don't work on mini split units. We've got animals out there that we need to get the AC working for. I need to find a company that can actually come out and fix it.

    Everything else so far with AHS has been pretty decent. I've had a couple of different circumstances where somebody came out and they weren't qualified to work on stuff. For the AC, I put in the paperwork that it was a mini split, so AHS should make sure that the company they're calling to come out works on what they're coming out to work on. It's been taking forever to get this AC unit fixed. We're pretty frustrated. Also, there's not a lot of communication going on between American Home Shield and the customers.

    There was a blown fuse on the wall and it had to be replaced. After I submitted the claim, the contractor was here the next day. They told me that they were gonna do the repair between 9:00 and 12:00 and they were done before 12:00.

    Our disposal made a horrible noise and it was leaking badly out of the machine. I called it in on American Home Shield's automated service and they assigned a plumber to come. He came out and took care of the job. He was very courteous, clean and nice. We've had him before as well. This time, he was here a short period of time and he replaced the disposal. We took pictures of the unit, so he would know the size.

    I've been recently disappointed in the shabby way in which American Home Shield handled a claim on a pool heater. I was terribly mistreated on it. I could prove that what the contractor said was the issue was truly not right, but the letter didn't say I had to respond in seven days. I went past it, so they disallowed the claim. I now have to buy a pool heater out of my own money after I've been paying the monthly fee to American Home Shield. I'm currently unhappy with them.

    I have an issue with my refrigerator that I called American Home Shield for. Their first attempt was they had a guy do the diagnosis through a video call. But it was not what I paid for. They sent a second guy out but then he said he couldn't deal with it. They were telling me I had a maintenance agreement and I said that I do not. There was an argument there and after we established that I didn't, they sent a third party out. It had been four weeks then that I was without a refrigerator. The third guy said it's the compressor and it has leaks. I tried to get information from American Home Shield - how the process works if they can't fix it. My understanding was that I would pick a refrigerator that they tell me to pick. I told them they're not gonna tell me what to put in my house. It's ridiculous.

    There has been no update as to what's transpiring. I've called every day. I'm sick of calling. Yesterday, I got ahold of the serviceman and he told me he had submitted the work order and they're waiting on authorizations to order parts. I called American Home Shield and the girl on the phone who can't authorize anything says she sent the tech a message that said it's been authorized. I called the guy and he said they need something in writing and not verbal authorization.

    It's been bad service all the way around. I had a girl who hung up on me. She said she was not the right department and that she would put me over to the right one. I said I wanted to talk to her supervisor and she clicked me over back to customer service. But those people can't help. They only give updates. They're very nice people, but they don't authorize anything. After this experience, I swear I'm gonna cancel American Home Shield and do something else because nobody should have to wait weeks. I'm gonna sit here for a month or more with no refrigerator before they get around to doing something. Their process sucks.

    I've had some terrible experiences with American Home Shield. In the past, I've called and it seemed like my calls were transferred overseas. The people were trying to be polite, but it was like they were reading a script, and it was aggravating. Then, I had another bad experience where they sent a plumber out. As soon as he left, I had a pipe that burst from the water pressure. He did something and so I kept calling in to get it escalated. I finally did that and American Home Shield reimbursed me $400 or so to get the hot water heater repaired. But to get it repaired was $1,400. It was stressful. Now, I have a claim with Allstate. My deductible to get the repairs done is $1,000, so it caused me more damage than help me.

    But out of all the different companies that they sent to me, Apalachee Home Services was the top. The customer service was great. He explained everything that needed to be repaired and it was fixed as promised. He had to order a part, so he let me know and kept me in the loop. This contractor saved AHS because I was going to cancel my service. I was not happy at all. The contractors that are selected are low-rated ones. They're not reputable companies and someone that has a little business out of their basement.

    The only aggravation I've had with American Home Shield was waiting on parts for the garage door a few months ago and I told them that I probably wouldn't renew over this issue. I waited several months. The garage door guys left it so that the only way I could work my garage door was to pull the rope, unlock it, and push it up manually. I wish AHS offered upfront to put a new motor up there and let me pay the difference, which is what ended up happening after three months of waiting and parking in the driveway and getting rained on. I could have had the new motor on there the next day by the same people for another 100 bucks more and I wouldn't have gone through three months of that. It was a nightmare.

    Other than that, they've been pretty good about things as far as getting things fixed. But I was thinking about not renewing with them because it had gotten so expensive. I was going to call and see what the options were because I'm at the point where I may have to quit work and have back surgery in the next few weeks. I used their service once in the first year, in the second year, I don't think I used it at all, and this last year, I've used it three times. By the time I paid the premium and then the $100 service call for each one, I would have come out right about the same amount had I just paid for my repairs out of pocket. Also, I could have called who I wanted to call and not be stuck with who AHS wanted. It would be nice if they would give us options sometimes, but I guess that's not gonna happen because I understand that they contract with people.

    Our upstairs AC was not working for a few days. We put in the call to American Home Shield. They let me know the company that would be contacting me to set up the appointment. Within 24 hours of me setting up the claim, the company, Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning, called me to make the actual appointment for the contractor. They did a very good job of informing me when their tech was going to be here and the tech was here when they said he was going to be here. The next day, the tech came. I had a text message with a picture of who was going to be coming and his name. So, I knew what to expect when he got here. He found a problem with the circuit breaker. He also said that the voltage was low on the compressor for the air conditioner and that it probably didn't have to be replaced right now, but if it continued to trip the breakers, then it would have to be replaced. Right now, it's working.

    This is the first time that I've had to use American Home Shield, and it worked well. It's something that I plan to renew once my renewal period comes up. In the future, if I were to sell this house, I would make sure that there will be an American Home Shield warranty on the house before I sold it. It will give the new owner peace of mind to know that they're covered for anything that might go wrong with the house especially the appliances and stuff that come with the house.

    I would run the dishwasher and there'd be water sitting in the bottom of it after it was done running. I did the claim through American Home Shield’s website and it was easy to navigate especially for this particular claim. It was straightforward because they had an option to submit a claim for a dishwasher. For all the claims I submitted, I was given the name of the contractor and their phone number. Then generally, either they contacted me quickly within a few hours or I contacted them. For this particular claim, it was easy to schedule with the tech. I showed him where the dishwasher was and explained what the problem was. He seemed to figure it out quickly. So, I didn’t have any complaints. I’ve ran the dishwasher since that time and it does drain. So, the problem is fixed.

    I have been very grateful to have AHS. I've submitted quite a few claims recently. I just moved into my place, which is an older place and I've been finding a lot of things that have not been kept up with or addressed from the previous owner. So it's been nice to have the convenience of being able to call in work orders and have them addressed quickly.

    American Home Shield is good to have. It benefits you money-wise if you have issues. Recently, my AC was coming on but not cooling. They sent someone out to the house and they fixed it, but it went back out three days later. AHS called them back out and I'm waiting on the person to come again. It was easy to get through to American Home Shield, but people should have a direct line where they can talk to a live representative. The first time I called to make a request, it was not a number where I could talk to a representative. I had to go through another number to call one. When they say, “Contact us,” it goes straight to a machine and there's no way I can talk to someone personally on that page.

    I'm going to cancel American Home Shield. I’m not happy with them at all. The problem is the people that they used to come out and do the service, getting them out here to do the service, and the complications that we had to deal with. A-1 Appliance was very rude to us. They didn’t show up one time, and then they made us go through the whole schmear again because of the part that had to be ordered for it. They charged us $75 twice, first for a diagnostic that he did on the telephone, and then the second to replace the part. Two times before that, we already had them come out and service the refrigerator for the same thing, and they did temporary fixes on it. We had the air conditioner done out in the back, and we had to pay for the coolant and also paid $75 for them to come out. Every time we've had to have them come out, we have not been happy with them.

    We were wanting to have somebody come out and check our attic fan, and the people that we talked to on the phone at American Home Shield had no idea what an attic fan was. We never could get anybody to come out and check it. So we ended up calling somebody ourselves and paying for them to come out and fix it. So American Home Shield has cost us money every month for nothing.

    American Home Shield should have better providers and people that can understand what you're talking about or what you need. I went up to the refrigerator one time with the phone, taking pictures of the model, and they needed to sound turned up so they could hear what it sounds like. But if you have a person come out, then it's $75 each time, and if there's something wrong, they charge another $75 to come out and fix it and replace it. But with just talking to people, American Home Shield will never replace it. They will do everything they can to not have to replace it. They'll fix it 100 times over, which is $75 each time, and then they tell you that they’ll give you so much money for it.

    The techs are here fixing my air again. The issue was with the dampener. They had to replace it again. It was super easy to submit the claim to American Home Shield. I like the cost savings that comes with having the warranty. It's either one big bill when somebody gets here or small, easy payments during the month. American Home Shield's website is super to use, easy to set up, and it's reliable. I’m all about high-tech, and if it’s something that we can fix on our end, that’s great. But if not, then American Home Shield would. We're definitely a for-life customer.

    Their service is great. It’s just that I wouldn’t recommend some of the vendors. Our dishwasher went out, too, the same time our air went out. The dishwasher guy came out and on some of the issues that we have, he was like, “Oh, we can't cover that,” or “I don't know. We'll just try this first.” I was like, “Well, aren't you supposed to investigate that?” So, he tried some other stuff. Where we pour our dishwasher detergent in was leaking right out and he just said, “Oh, it's an adjuster knob.” He went in there. When I poured some more detergent in it, it was empty again. So, that wasn't the problem.

    With that company, the experience was a lot different. We had a loud noise and he was like, “Oh, we don't cover it until it completely breaks.” But we had like four things that was wrong with our dishwasher. For the leak, he ordered a gasket for that one. Then, I told him about the other issues, and he was more interested in the one issue than the other. When he comes out, I'm gonna have to talk to him again.

    American Home Shield is always able to help me pretty much so if I have anything that's going on in the house, I can call them and always have somebody to come out here to do what they need to do. I recently had an issue with my toilet. The two guys that came out did what they had to do and did it in a timely fashion. They had some of the valves and some of the handles and after they did all that, all three of my bathrooms worked perfectly.

    I recently called in to change my plan. I had the Gold package and now I have the Platinum package with the electronics. It's cheaper so I saved money by upgrading. American Home Shield had charged me from the previous plan so I don't know if they're gonna prorate. But I refer American Home Shield to a lot of my friends and family so they are very aware and I tell them I have good vibes on them.

    There are times where if you need service, it might take a day or two, and sometimes you need service immediately. Where if I didn't have the insurance, I would call a local contractor.     My garbage disposal was not working and Travis, the repair guy from Joy Plumbing, came out.     It took three days to get an email response and then a schedule. The very next day, the repair company called and they were out there the same morning they called. They were some of the nicest repair gentlemen I've ever had at my house. One of the great benefits of having a warranty is for unexpected costs. A new garage door opener and sensors and then electrician to come out and rewire all of it is close to $3,000. AHS has been great.

    When there was something wrong with the drainage at the house in Indiana, the process with American Home Shield was a little crazy for a minute, but we got it rectified.     The service of Tri State Repairs was excellent. I was very impressed with these guys. The seal was messed up and then there was a piece broken on the dispenser of our dishwasher.     I called my clothes washer in. I called American Home Shield on 6/25. Talking to those people in the Philippines is horrible. They don't know the rules. They don't understand the American customer. They don’t understand a lot of things. And it's just horrible talking to them. I gave up. And then I just do this online because I don't wanna talk to anybody anymore. But when you call the US, it's a lot better because they understand at least. But outsourcing it to India and, especially, the Philippines group, oh my God. AHS should do a test and really listen to what the customers go through. And they can’t address anything. They hang up on you. It's a total disaster. I do it on my laptop now, and it's a lot more seamless.

    The contractor came out on June something. They fixed it and left. It was the first good experience I've had with AHS vendors. Most of the time, it's very challenging. They don't do the job properly. You have to call two or three times to follow up. Vendors come in. They don't know what they're doing. They don’t know how to assess properly. They don’t know the damages. They come back two, three times. There are times when you get great vendors, like I got a great guy. He came in. Assessed everything properly. It took him 20 minutes. He looked at everything. And boom, he got it done. And he came back in a week and a half. I called them back to say, “Hey, when are you guys gonna get back?” They told me, “As soon as we get the parts, we'll come back.” They came back the next day and were done.

    But most of the time, you have to chase the vendors and they're not gonna assess anything properly. It's not a healthy relationship. And when you call AHS to let them know what's going on, of course, they don't believe you. You’re the customer. I pay over $9,000 to AHS in a year's period. And you think they would believe me? Definitely not.

    I have a refrigerator we bought, and the ice machine was not working. I told them, “Come take a look at it. Can you look at it?” The guy walked in two minutes. He said, “The company, they're having a lot of complaints on the Samsungs, so it's a major issue with them. You need to call them and talk to them.” I said, “But can you fix it?” He told me, “No. We can’t fix it.” I did my homework, I called AHS, got all the information out and gave it to them. They told me, “Oh, no, you're dead wrong. This is 100% wrong. This is what the vendor told us, what we believe.” I said, “But I have all the information. I can send it in.” They told me, “No. I’m sorry.” So, I had to pay out of my pocket $400 to get another guy to come in. And it took him 30 minutes to get the ice maker replaced. He took it out, then put them in. I pay $400 out of my pocket, and I just moved on.

    American Home Shield does not take feedback well. They think everybody's trying to get over on them. Especially, they should have the common sense and probably change their way of managing the customers. You have a long-term customer that has been with you through the good times and the bad times. Learn how to deal with them. And then when you ask for a supervisor, good luck. It's a disaster. When it comes to asking for a supervisor, they tell you, “Sorry. We don't have anybody. They'll call you within 48 hours.” Nobody ever calls you back. The organization is a total disaster. If I can find somebody else, a little better, I'll be gone. I’ll take my $9,000 to somebody else. I want American Home Shield to do better because I deal with them for quite some time. I need them to do better. And I don’t wanna spend $10,000 every single time there. If they get better, I get better service.

    The compressor went out and the contractor came out but it took two and a half weeks to get them to repair it. So, we had to buy a new, smaller refrigerator because we didn't have anything else.     One of the lights is flickering. It comes on, but occasionally, it goes off. And couple of outlets were not working because it seemed like the GFC is getting trapped. When the contractor called, I told them exactly what I saw. The waiting period was long. They did not have any appointment available. The service was good. And they were upfront that, “Hey, this is what it is. Otherwise, we can deny.” And if they deny, then I have to go through the paying again. So, I just said, “Okay.     Omega Force Appliance came to look at my dishwasher and that engagement with them was fine. The person that came out was knowledgeable and very professional. BWS Plumbing also came out to look at my dryer. They said that they called American Home Shield. American Home Shield wouldn't cover it and that I'd have to call somebody else if I wanted it to be fixed. My frustration with that was AHS knew what the issue was prior to somebody coming out but they still allowed somebody to come and check it out. I paid my $100 deductible and was told that they don't cover anything.

    Then I also had them try to schedule an appointment for the dryer previously and they connected me with an appliance repair person. About five minutes after they scheduled that for me, the appliance repair place called me and said, “We don't do that work. We don't touch gas lines. That's a plumber.” So I had to call back American Home Shield and reschedule it. So two of my three engagements with AHS have been extremely poor.

    Our claim with the freezer went very well. It was very simple. The tech came out once and checked it. Right away, he knew what the problem was, that it was the seal around the freezer. He said he'd have to order one, and he'd be back. He told us he’d call when it came in. When it came in, he called and set an appointment. Then, he came in and ripped out that old seal and put the new one in, and it's good as new.

    We've only used AHS one other time, and that was exactly the same. My washing machine died on me. A fella came in and looked it over. He said he took out a whole bunch of it, all the insides, and said he had to order some more parts. Then, he called when the parts came in. Made an appointment. Came in, fixed it all.     American Home Shield is a good thing to get if you're purchasing a house and you don't know the house. That was what prompted me to get it and it was worth it for me. Even though I had a home inspection, things have popped up. I wasn't able to get the air on and I thought it was not working. The heating and cooling guy came out and he did an awesome job. On the other hand, I'm not impressed with the key company that was recommended. They're supposed to come out today, but they have not been very responsive. All in all, it's been a good experience all around, so I would recommend AHS. It's sometimes hard to understand the representatives, but they're nice and friendly.

    We put seven years into AHS. With the AC, they wanted to fix one part but then, gave us the other part but we got to come out of pocket. It was ridiculous. Then, it took them two months to replace the dishwasher. Then, with the stove, they just kept fixing and working on it and it still would not work. Overall, a bad experience. We want to cancel and go with another warranty. But Complete Home Service System was awesome. I didn't have any problems with them.

    My son's refrigerator went out so we requested a service call. A guy from Sears came on April 13th and diagnosed it. American Home Shield kept saying that they didn't get the report. I called Sears and they said they sent the report four times. I called American Home Shield back and told them what Sears told me and that American Home Shiels got the report at the end of May. Finally, they said they were gonna replace the refrigerator so we were ecstatic.

    But as of right now, we still don't have a refrigerator because American Home Shield said that they don't have any refrigerators that are the same as ours. We have a KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator with a water dispenser and icemaker. It's a countertop refrigerator so we can't get anything different. It could be a little bit smaller but it can't be bigger for what the space is. The replacement could be a different make and it could be cheaper. I don't care as long as it has the icemaker and the ice cube maker in the front with the water.

    American Home Shield gave me model numbers but they don't have those refrigerators. GE as well as everyone else is way behind because of COVID. That doesn't do us any good. I asked American Home Shield, “If I find one, can I buy it and give you the receipt?” They said they could only pay up to $1,307. One model they told me is 1,799 in the store. I asked, “If they’re 1,799, why are you giving me $1,307?” The rep said that was because that was what they pay GE. But GE doesn't have the refrigerator. One of the stores does. I’m supposed to call tomorrow to see if a shipment came in.

    When American Home Shield gets a diagnostic report, they should inform the customers. This way I don't have to call twice a week and I'm on the phone for 80 minutes. The worst thing is waiting for someone to pick up then you hear the replacement department is closed on the weekend or that they work from so and so to so and so. And where am I calling? I'm calling the Philippines, Georgia, here, and there. Sometimes, I don't understand the people and I have to tell them to spell the words for me then I get it. It's horrible at times but it's also very good at times.

    I go through hell a lot of times with American Home Shield and it's not their person's fault. It's the policy. There was a time where techs came to look at my son's Maytag washer. For some reason, American Home Shield said they would have to replace it. They told my son to go get one and mail in the receipt. He went to P.C. Richard & Son. He sent in the proof of the receipt. But American Home Shield kept saying they didn't have it. I went to Staples and told them American Home Shield did not get the receipt. But the guy there said they did and that there was a confirmation. After the third time, the guy wasn't even charging me. I tell the guy at Staples, “Can we also fax something and tell them that you're doing it, not me from my computer?” We put a message on the fax and finally, American Home Shield said they had it.

    You can't get anywhere at times with some of the people at American Home Shield and it's very hard. I had asked to speak to a manager or a supervisor and they didn't have any. I was gonna write a letter to the office in Tennessee. There was one time where American Home Shield was gonna send somebody here that was a different plumbing company. The first time they sent him, I was in Florida. My son took care of the issue. When we came up from Florida, we had another little problem. American Home Shield was gonna send the same plumbing guy. He was nasty and ever since then, I told American Home Shield not to ever send that man to me again. When we were calling to say when he was coming, the girl would say, “When he's around in your area,” like I’m a pest.

    I also had a claim for a leak and Fix-A-Leak came out. They are a good company. They said they would be here within 2:00 to 4:00 and they were. They changed the showerhead.

    When my air conditioner wasn’t getting cool, a technician examined the unit and said there was some hole and it was leaking coolant. He said he would get with American Home Shield to place the claim. When I spoke to American Home Shield again, they went into details about what was wrong with my air conditioner. I couldn't understand why the technician didn't express that to me. I have asthma and I'm sitting in a house that is hot. If he would have expressed that to me, I could have better prepared myself and my family for this. He just said it simply had a hole and was leaking coolant so I was thinking that was a quick fix. But now I’m being told that I may have a $3,000 out of pocket charge.

    I received a phone call from someone at American Home Shield today to see how much they could help me. This is an ongoing situation and I still have no air. She found another company in my city.     When my garbage disposal wasn't working, I used the online option and it was very easy. This was the first time I submitted a claim, and the tech was great at explaining. When he finished the job, I went into the kitchen and he explained how one can tell what issue it could be. There were a couple different issues, so he walked me through the different ones. However, when I had a request in for them to check a roof leak, they had a very hard time finding someone to come out to check it for me. Then they even asked me to find someone and see if they'd be willing to. I didn't feel warm and fuzzy about that at all so I closed that particular request and will address it later on. But AHS has very good coverage. My girlfriend has American Home Warranty. American Home Shield covers a little more, particularly the roof coverage, where the American Warranty does not.

    Having AHS is a huge advantage for me because I don't have money sitting on the side. The fee for a year looks bad if you haven't called them for a problem, but if there's a problem, you probably won't have that money sitting on the side to pay a technician to come out, look at the problem, fix it, and then pay for the parts. I had a claim when there was a bit of noise coming from inside the AC fan when it comes to a stop. The technician that came out was way better than all the technicians they've sent out from United Air Temp. He explained things while the other ones want to sell me a new system whenever they come.

    We have a very old refrigerator that we've been dealing with AHS for over a year. They’ve tried to get parts and they couldn't get it. Then sometimes when I'd calling people, I'd get someone that would be reading off a script. When I'd try to ask a question, he would just go back to the script, so I let it go on that old refrigerator for a long time because I just didn't have it in me to have that conversation. It was too frustrating.

    We have another refrigerator and it just had a small leak. I called and got somebody who sounded like he wasn't reading off the script. So then I told him my story about the old one. This was the first person who actually asked for model numbers, serial numbers, and picture of the refrigerators. The company that he sent the information to contacted us and had a few more questions. That's the kind of service that I've expected from them. Somebody's coming out today.

    In the past, AHS had sent people out who had called in and told them, "It needs this part. We're not gonna be able to find this part," and they still ignored it. They just didn't want to replace the refrigerator. This whole thing had me thinking about canceling the contract. I'm paying $88 or $89 a month. I was not far from just replacing the refrigerator myself and yet I'm not sure that I'm really saving any money in having a service. But I'm making it manageable for me. If the hot water heater goes out, I don't have to come up with several hundred to a thousand dollars. I'm generally satisfied with but really unhappy about the refrigerator incident.

    I had an issue with American Home Shield last summer and now, it's bleeding into this year. With this whole AC thing and how it transpired, it's been so frustrating and I'm not happy. I was shown pictures by both guys that came and fixed the AC unit. I asked, “Did you replace with the new wire?” They said, “No, we cut off of another piece.” They're using an existing wire that who knows how old to do a repair. That doesn't make sense. Wire doesn't cost a lot of money. Why would they use wire from within the system that they're trimming off of something else? It was like they were doing a band-aid solution.

    American Home Shield needs to be more responsive but they don't care. They need to have people that respond much quicker than what they do. They sent companies but it's on the companies to perform. The lag in performance makes me mad. We're looking at temperatures in 112, 114 through the next five days. It’s hot and you do not want your AC to go out. I can call other companies who will say, “We're gonna have somebody out there tomorrow.” But American Home Shield’s contractor says, “I can't be there till Friday,” on a Monday. That's unacceptable. I spend under $70 a month on my home warranty and I want some action. Am I the only person out there? No. But when it's 115 degrees outside, you need action. I could have somebody here the next day but I'm having to come out of pocket to pay for it. I just got the runaround. If American Home Shield would cover that, then I would have done that.

    I've been with American Home Shield for a few months now and I had to call them twice. That's really worth the monthly investment.     One of our AC units wasn't producing cold air. The gentleman was out two different times, which was fine. First time, it was storming so I get that he couldn't go in to research what the problem was. He did a temporary fix and then came back a second time to dive in, diagnose and repair the problem. But both times, he just left. He did his work and took off. I realized he was done when I saw that his truck was no longer in front of the house. I found that odd. That's the only thing I would recommend is that Freedom actually get back to the homeowner before taking off so they're not left clueless. I had to call the next day and find out what actually happened. Other than that, my experience with American Home Shield has been very good. At least thus far, the premiums paid versus the potential of mitigating some of the risk is well worth it. I'm hoping that over time, my home warranty will save us money, particularly on bigger expense items.

    I feel good about having American Home Shield. They have a better coverage especially for HVAC. Dawson Services was great. They were quick to respond and they came out quickly. However, my HVAC had some sort of glitch that they were not able to figure out. They repaired it and then it did the same thing within a few hours, and they just can't figure out why it's shorting out this transformer. So, they have referred it to somebody. They said that we need to get a trained person. It's been over a week now and I haven't had the second person call or come out. I'm running since the 27th of June, and it's still not repaired. So, I'm not real happy about that.

    We have multiple units and luckily, we live on a wooded lot, so that makes a difference, too. But it's been 95 degrees. That ticket is marked as closed out. So, I called AHS yesterday, and I called them early in the day and the rep was trying to call the contractor that it was referred to. She said it was listed as a second opinion. They didn't answer, so she said she's going to continue calling and call me back in 30 minutes or so, and she never called me back. I called again in the afternoon and got somebody else. It was around 5:00-ish, and of course, they were not going to get anyone after 5 o'clock. So, he said he was escalating that ticket but I haven't heard anything today so far.

    Working with a home warranty is never quick since you have to work the system. The techs come out, they need a part, American Home Shield has to approve it, they approve it, they order it, and the techs come back out, and put the part in. It's a process. I had a microwave replaced not too long ago and they did end up replacing the whole microwave, which was nice. I feel like that pretty much paid for my home warranty for the year, but it took me three months to get it done. Expediting approvals on parts and service would be beneficial.

    When we did a claim to American Home Shield, it was easy to go online and put in the request. They were quick to text, update some stuff and make the appointment. The problem ended up being the thermostat. There was some kind of short between the thermostat, and the AC itself wasn't clicking on. I just happened to have a spare thermostat, and so the employee changed it out for me just to make sure that was the problem. He thought that was the issue. He said, "It's either gonna be the thermostat or the circuit board." I was like, "Well, I have a new thermostat we just haven't put on yet." He said, "Oh, well, I can put that on and see if that seems to be the problem." He was great, very nice and very professional. The AC has been working ever since. The service was quick and easy with our problem. This was our first experience with AHS and it was good, so I would recommend them.

    I blew a bunch of fuses and I could not figure out where to reset the system. The contractor was able to come out and reset it. He was there early. He’s polite, informative, and fixed the issues super quick. He went around and tested the outlets. And then he realized that I blew a fuse. He recognized that I had a blown motherboard on my sprinkler system. So, he said he would write that up. And then he was able to reset the whatever, and that was it. It restored electricity to half of my house. American Home Shield is worth it, and I would recommend it.

    Getting a warranty service is the best thing people can do for when they're retired and can't do it, and their kids have moved away. It costs only 100 bucks to get stuff fixed. I call American Home Shield three or four times in a year. Claims submission is simple. I decided to do my dishwasher this week, so I went on the computer, logged in, said what was wrong and gave them my credit card number that was already on file. They charged me and they'll bring somebody out. When my ballast went out in my kitchen, the electrician came in here, looked at what was going on, took out the panels, and undid some things. “Yeah, this what's going on. Be right back.” He went into his truck, came back, and fixed the job in less than 10 minutes, which shocked the hell out of me. He was very nice, professional and wore a mask. He was cool.

    I had Sears and I had America’s First Choice the last five years. Neither one of them were very good compared to American Home Shield. I thought I was getting them when I got America’s First Choice, but I got the name wrong. I switched and AHS is the best so far. I just signed up and the first problem I had was my toilet was running, and it wouldn't stop. I did the claim online and I was shocked at how easy it was. That was the best of all. It took the repair people a couple of days because they had a couple of emergencies besides mine, but I appreciated it. They replaced the valve inside the toilet and they were good.

    There's always a two or three-business-day gap between the time I put in the initial submission until I hear back from the service provider. That's kind of a standard operating procedure, so it ends up being a bit of a waiting thing. But that's not on American Home Shield's end. That's got to do with the way the contracts are set up with the service providers. I like AHS so much and I have two houses covered by them. Just having the convenience of being able to make a call and say that we have an issue is so worth it for my wife and me. I recently had the AC worked on. The first group that came out was Comfort First Heating and they identified that it was an electrical problem and not an HVAC unit problem. They called AHS back and scheduled an electrician to come out. The electrician came and got everything all knocked out. I have recommended AHS to a number of people.

    My daughter was taking a bath in the bathtub on the second floor. Then, in our kitchen, we saw water running from the ceiling. I ran up there and had her stop taking a bath. Discount Contractors came out to diagnose the problem. At first, the plumber thought it was the overflow valve so he replaced the seal on that and then he left. Then, my daughter got in the bath and it happened again. He came back and found a crack in the tub. They don't fix that, so I'm gonna have that fixed myself.     I had an issue with a fluorescent light that was in my kitchen. I purchased a replacement light, but I was going to have the tech look at it. When the guy got there, he looked at it and told me that he could fix it easily without putting in the replacement light, and that I could return that. But he ended up putting up the replacement light, then I paid to have the ceiling fan put up in my living room.

    Other than that electrical service, I've also called AHS for my air conditioning unit multiple times and a plumbing issue once. I haven't had any difficulties in making a claim but we need more information on the services that can be provided. Certain things are included in the $100 copay that we pay, but sometimes, there are other things that are beyond that. For instance, if you have to have coolant for the air conditioning unit, you have to pay for the coolant and that's understandable. But for electrical work, you have to pay for anything outside of the scope of the actual project.

    It's very easy submitting a claim with AHS. I don't even have to talk to anyone, I just submit everything online. Then they text and email me back a confirmation. Then once a company is assigned, they email and text me back. Then that company calls me and makes an appointment. My washing machine wasn't draining recently and the techs came out and found in the drain port, there was a raggedy cut up T-shirt. So, they stayed until it was fixed and pulled the T-shirt out. Then they had to order another part and came back with the part. They were great.

    The guys that came out to help with the plumbing were fantastic. I felt really badly for them because it was pouring rain here and they were here for two hours. They were absolutely soaked but they did a good job and they were very professional. They fixed at least what they could fix. It turned out that our house is on septic, so we have to get that pumped. But they were able to unclog what needed to be unclogged. I had another claim because our ceiling fan didn't turn on and the guy who came out for that was really nice, too. But it has not been resolved yet because he said it’s a specific part that he was going to have to order.

    Other than that, I would suggest that AHS allow more than one claim at a time because when I initially tried to put in my service request to have our ceiling fan fixed, I was unable to because I just put in one for the plumbing. So, I had to call to have that addressed. And then I still have to make another service request because our disposer and dishwasher don't work like they’re supposed to.

    I put in my request over the website with American Home Shield. It worked very well. I got back from AHS what company would come out. And they let me know that DT Electric would contact me, and they did. They contacted me a couple of hours after I submitted the claim, and we set up a time for them to come and meet. They came in and just reinstalled a light electrical fixture that was outside of my garage door that had come and separated from the house. It was at a precarious level, especially with all the rainfall that we were having. So they came out and redid that. The customer service was great. They immediately diagnosed the situation and got right to it. They cleaned up after themselves and moved on. It took them 20 minutes to fix the issue.

    We woke up the other night, and our air conditioner was out. We live in South Florida, so that's kind of a nightmare this time of year. We contacted American Home Shield first thing in the morning, and within an hour, a technician had reached out to us. They scheduled an appointment. The tech showed up well within their window, and he was in and out of here in 30 minutes. We haven't had an issue since he left.

    All the appliances in our house are new and a lot of them are probably covered under warranty.     The mechanism that made the flame go on the hot water heater went out on me at least three times. And every time, it was at a shorter number of days and it just didn't last. The last time was last Sunday and my son was unable to light it. He said it was a matter for the pros. So, I have this home warranty and I made an appointment with Ark-La-Flow. They looked at the part that ignited the flame, not the whole hot water tank, and they said there was something wrong there. They tried to re-light it and there was no hot water in the system because it had been off for over 24 hours, but it still registered as overheating. They decided to substitute that with a newer assembly and now, I have hot water on demand. The techs were on time and very professional. They were polite and didn't leave a mess. So, I was pleased with the whole experience. All in all, I would tell others to go ahead and use AHS.

    The toilet was running for 15 or 30 seconds every 10 minutes, and the contractor swapped out one of the internal parts and fixed it. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about seven years and this is the second property I've owned using a home warranty. I would never buy another property without having one. They're worth their weight in gold. AHS seems to assign me somebody randomly though. If I have had an appliance repairperson, I'd love to have the option to use them a second time because they would be familiar with the project.

    We could barely read the numbers on the stove. The head unit was burning out. Reliable Property Solutions came out and replaced the head unit. It was quick and easy. Usually, I do my claims to AHS online. The actual submission is really the issue. I had issues where the techs didn't end up addressing the reason they were called out, which was a service check. I had an AC unit that went down and the subsequent company was saying that this stuff should have been identified on the maintenance check. I tried to work with American Home Shield to avail that issue and had challenges. I had a service check done on both my units. About a couple months later, I had an AC unit go down.

    I called in a second service request, and when that contractor came out, he explained what the issue was, which ended up being the evaporator was over halfway rusted. I asked him plain and simple if that’s something that somebody should have caught a couple months ago. He said, “Absolutely, that should have been caught.” So when I went back to American Home Shield to raise the issue on that company and to try to get another company to come out to do a service check on the second unit that I've got, they told me that they can't refund anything. I wasn't looking for a refund. I was looking for them to just send out a separate company to do an actual check on the unit. I love the company that did the secondary work, but it didn't have to be them. I just wanted somebody.

    I was caught in like, “Do I call another request in, spend 75 bucks for the service order for my well being, or do I just leave it as it is?” That left a bad taste in my mouth because I didn't even get that response until I called customer service to which he said there was no escalation to be done. Then I went to social media and direct messaged them through Twitter, to which they just responded back again, “No." That's not good customer service on that side of it. Also, the price creep has been going up. Part of that is inflation, but I think they're outstripping inflation. The other part is the backside customer support when there was an issue. I stood on the phone for a good 30 or so minutes before I got ahold of anybody.
