We had a claim for electrical issues. We had to have some breaker panel work done and it was $2,400. But I guess American Home Shield didn't wanna pay that much. The only other issue is when we first signed up for their service, they covered septic work and wells, but they dropped that. And we didn't realize it until it was too late. If we switched companies, that would be the only reason. Other than that, we had a claim for a refrigerator that was still under warranty, and American Home Shield changed it out.

American Home Shield's response has been pretty good. We had one situation with a garage door where it took a while to get a decision on our garage door. We were just without a garage door for two weeks. But they ultimately got it taken care of. Also, the techs have all been very professional. I'm happy with the experience.

I was very happy with my garbage disposal claim experience with American Home Shield. Abdul with AH Appliances Repair was really on top of it and was really willing to go out of his way to kind of help understand what was going on. They had to order the replacement, and he was in touch with me the same day that it was available. Then we were able to coordinate. He even came out on a Saturday.

Submitting a claim with AHS was great. I was hoping to do it myself online, but I wasn't able to find all the options. So I called the representative and she was able to help me with that. I had a bit of a clog in the bath pipe. I thought it was a bit of a clogging situation in the faucet, like when you switch from the faucet to the showerhead. The third one was the toilet bowl was making noise. Every time you flushed, it stayed on and continued to make noise.
It was good when the tech came out. He was able to explain what the issue was and what were the ways to fix it. There was a bit of an issue with water pressure for the faucet, from faucet to shower. That was something that he wouldn't be able to do unless it's additional service. So he just fixed the problem a little bit. Everything else was done in record time. They were done in 20 minutes. Having AHS is almost a must-have, especially for a single woman living in the house, because this is not something that I can just jump on any appliance and fix myself.

The tech who came out replaced my faucet in my kitchen that wasn't working. The kitchen sink sprayer was not working. It was broken off. And the tech said he had to replace the whole faucet because of a tubing. He told me what he did. He said that he couldn’t just replace it. So, he had to leave and get another faucet, come back, and replace it. Everything is working great now. The sprayer wasn't working and now that I have it back, it's so much easier to do dishes.
American Home Shield's site is a fairly easy website to use. I just put my claim under “faucet”. I was given the contractor name, phone number and was told that that they’d be calling to schedule a time. Having American Home Shield has been great. I don't have to call a handyman, and I just pay my premium, and then the service fee. Then they take care of everything under my contract. I really love the company and I would recommend other people use it if they’re looking for a home warranty company.

American Home Shield’s automated system sucks. You need to speak to a person sometimes. For instance, I came to realize that the electrical wiring in the house was freaking out because it's so old and brittle that even when you attempt to change your light switch, it falls apart. I tried to call American Home Shield back and asked if we could just let the technician do the whole thing because he came in. The wiring was working but it was so messed up. One of the outlets upstairs is connected to the wiring downstairs. If someone turns on the microwave and I'm doing something down, it would flip the switch. All that needed to be rewired.
Even though I was very irritated, I tried to speak to a live person with American Home Shield. By the time I got to somebody, their English was not very good so that was a barrier because I had to keep repeating myself. They also didn't have the knowledge base to do something. I was in the CSR help desk support. If I didn't know something, I would go the extra mile to try to figure it out. If I didn't have the credentials to do it, I would contact somebody and get this taken care of. You don't just say, “I don't know. We'll call back when it's complete.” That's not how it works. We could have looked at the time when the technician could have come and do all the electricity in my house and called it a day.
While the technician was sitting here, I had to leave. He didn’t have the fixtures on his truck so I had to go to Home Depot and bought them. I asked him how I could get a reimbursement for the two fixtures I got. He said I had to wait until the work was completed. I need to speak to somebody at the top about getting this wiring redone. I already paid the $100 deductible. I don't wanna call again and pay another $100. This issue aside, American Home Shield is beneficial. Some people said they sucked but I took a risk and I tried it. I plan on keeping American Home Shield and utilizing it for my future endeavors.
We appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

Initially, I called American Home Shield for a plumber. It was Friday, and it was on the Fourth of July weekend, so it was hard to get ahold of people. The gal called me Saturday morning, and at that point it had been raining as well, so I thought, “Well, maybe it isn't the plumbing." The problem could be the roof and the HOA where I live was working on getting a roofer out, so I said, “Well, can you just postpone it, because the roofer is coming out.” She did that for me then I called her back sometime later and said, “Can you please just get them back out here to confirm.”
My homeowner’s insurance came out and looked around, and they told me it was the pipe. By then, the plumber was out here as well. He took a look at what was going on and said, “No, this is not a plumber issue, but rather it is an AC issue.” I called the home warranty people and asked them to reissue the claim for an AC expert. They went ahead and scheduled somebody then the AC person came out and fixed the issue right away.
The thing is that we live in Arizona and the heat is terrible. When the air conditioning goes out, it could be life threatening, depending on who's in the house. In any case, AHS was prompt. They called me back within 24 hours, and we had somebody out here within 48, which is the response time. I’m grateful I have somebody to call and come and take a look at the issue. I have $125 for my deductible, and that amount doesn't fix a whole lot. I could adjust it a little better, so I don't pay out as much, but in the end, I'm paying $125 for something that would have cost me much more.

American Home Shield's billing department is horrible. We have had three claims in the year of our warranty we've had with them. One was like months ago and that's all water under the bridge but it was mishandled and not charged to my card. The next thing I filed a claim, they told me that I owe money. The outstanding deductible has to be paid before I can file another claim. I paid it by phone and they said it was fine and I can file a claim, which is for the range. I did that and they promptly emailed me and got an appointment scheduled. That was last week.
Today, I had a missed phone call and an email that says I have a past due claim again. Why I need to call and authorize payment numerous times when I'm the one needing the service is a little concerning. Also, there are some customer service issues. We tried to get an air conditioning guy out here last summer and we could not get a live body on the phone. When I did, the lady promised me a callback and it never happened.

I called on the 16th for my central air and the part came on Tuesday. The guy who serviced us came out. He thought it would be within 48 hours that I would hear something. But the point that got me real bad was that nobody could give me a roundabout date on when it’s gonna be done. I couldn’t get a definite answer from anybody at first. Then I called and asked them when they were going to go do the work but they couldn't give me a date. A guy came out, looked and told me what he saw. He said I needed to exchange the unit.
When I called, they said it was approved. When I called again, they claimed American Home Shield hadn’t approved it. In the meantime, I'm in a limbo in my hotel room because my house has been 100 degrees inside and we couldn’t stay there. We’re still in the hotel. The guy called yesterday saying they’re gonna come out on Monday. As soon as he called me, I asked for a supervisor but they wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor. But the last guy was the nicest person I had talked to. He told me I booked a call from a supervisor but I didn’t get a call from a supervisor today.

If you call AHS for service, if they give you a person to fix your system and you don't stay on top of it, then it falls between the cracks. Other than that, the service went great and the guys are really nice. The tech did a great job with my air conditioner but I don't think what he did really fixed the issue. I don't feel that it is cooling. The tech said I should give it a chance to get all the moisture out of the room, and then see what happens. But right now, I'm still running my fan with the air conditioner.

I like that American Home Shield has a nice one-time fee for almost anything and it's simple how they take care of finding the contractor to come out. When our dishwasher wasn't draining correctly, the repair company came out quickly. My time was supposed to be between 9:00 and11:00, and they got there at 9:00. They were nice too about it all. They fixed it, and it's working fine right now. However, they also suggested that our dishwasher is going out, and we should look into getting a new one soon.

My dishwasher stopped working so I put in a request for service. The original company was Sears and the appointment was from 12:00 to 4:00 last Friday. At 2 o'clock, they sent me an automated text saying they changed my appointment to August 11th. American Home Shield eliminated that vendor and gave me HBC. Their tech came out on Monday and was super professional. He had a mask on and he put booties over his shoes when he came into my house. He also answered all my questions. He checked the control panel of the dishwasher, looked up the part number, and put the information to American Home Shield. He said that when they get the part, he would be back out to finish the service.
I then received an email from American Home Shield that they would have to replace the whole dishwasher. I had the option of either to cash out or to purchase one that they had on their side. I received the email that the dishwasher will be delivered in two weeks and that they already assigned a company to come out and install it. American Home Shield's claim process worked and I appreciate it. The online filing is easy.

The water pressure was too high and messing up the pipe so we did get it replaced. American Home Shield got somebody out pretty fast and paid a portion of it. We had to pay the difference, which was fine. Unfortunately, afterwards, when there's air in the pipes, it makes loud noises. We knew that was gonna happen for a few days. It went away, but it came back. We called American Home Shield back but unfortunately, they didn't cover that, so that was gonna have to come out of our own pocket. I was complaining 'cause I felt like it was all connected. We didn't have that noise until the regulator was changed. I think there was something that happened when they changed the regulator.

Plumbing Expresso was very good. It was the second time I've worked with them. They speak Spanish and my tenants speak Spanish, so that was very helpful. Also, they were very quick to contact me as soon as American Home Shield finds the dispatch to them. Then, I gave them the tenant’s contact information and they were very quick to contact the tenant. They accommodated the tenant’s schedule to get there and I appreciate all that. They called me as soon as they left my unit to give me a report about what was the problem and showed the tenants how to use the item properly.
I have not had any major problems with American Home Shield. There was just one minor thing when there was only one vendor available, Brick Street Plumbing, and I don't like working with Brick Street Plumbing. The communication with their customer is bad. We tried to submit again for the second issue and it would take a long time so we cancelled it. They called an agent directly and had them set it up. They came back out and fixed it. They solved it as fast as they could possibly resolve it and did a great job. They also gave us information on how to prevent it in the future. We would like to get them to come out every time. I've had American Home Shield for years, and it's been great. It's saved my bacon many times. I've had things break and it would have cost a lot of money to fix. American Home Shield was there for me, and filing a claim is pretty easy. The only problem I have is sometimes, if I do need to speak to a representative, there's a little bit of a language barrier. They're not native English speakers, so that can be a bit of a challenge. Also, when I do put something online, the system only lets me select one thing. If I have an air conditioning issue and also had an issue with the duct work, I wouldn't be able to pick multiple things that were wrong. I can only pick one thing. So, the ability to choose multiple items for one claim would be helpful.
I've heard complaints from the service people, too. When they come and look at something and need a part, sometimes they have to get that approved through American Home Shield. They've told me that sometimes, they have trouble getting ahold of someone to do that. It takes a long time and it's a lot of wasted time on their part. To me, AHS is a lifesaver, and that's what I tell everybody. I'm not handy with things so for me, American Home Shield is perfect. Plus, even if I did have the skills, I don't have time to monkey around with it.

I don't like calling my claims in. You have to do it automatically on the internet. Otherwise, a lot of times you wait on the phone for 40 minutes, and then the person types it in. So when you type it in yourself, you get better results. And then, normally, American Home Shield sends me a text. And then I get online, find out where they are and call that company. I call them as many times as I have to. Some of them, you have to call a lot of times to set up an appointment for them to come out. But they never call me. Because the bottom line is, I don't wait because if I do, it would be two or three days before they call me. I'm not gonna wait because my microwave is broken. They might not call me back for a week. So, I call them until I finally speak to somebody.
The fuse inside the microwave kept blowing. The tech fixed the problem while he was here. He recognized what the problem was as soon as he did his analysis. He told us exactly what the problem was. And he went out of the vehicle and got the parts, came back, replaced the plastic part, and then the hooks and the door, and it worked. We’re very happy. Also, he was very personable.
We have a claim in for refrigerator now. We wanted the same guy to come out. But even though I filed that claim a couple of days later, there's no way for us to select the same company. Because I was pleased with him, I didn't want somebody else. I filed a claim on my microwave. The guy came out, he actually did what he was doing. I felt confident with him. So the next time I file a claim, there should have a thing that says, “Oh, we see that you filed a claim. Would you like the same company to come out to fix it?” There should be a way for us to contact the same person. Unless we didn't want them, we say, “No, I don't want that company to come out again, because I didn't like them.” And then AHS can give us a new company.

30% of our house was without power. A tech from DNZ diagnosed it and figure out what the problem was. He said something with the line wasn't connecting right. My wife went online and filled out a request for service form. The company said they were going to be here at a certain time and they showed up. The tech was very thorough but he didn't end up finishing. He said he couldn't find a neutral and there had to be a piece that was rewired to something. He said he would call us but I didn't hear anything.
I called American Home Shield and they said they hadn't heard anything either. I call the company and compliment them on doing such a thorough job. I said, “Please call me back and let me know.” I never ever have talked to them since. When I talked to American Home Shield, I said, “Can we have a three-way call? Because all of a sudden, we’re rejected. And AHS is going to do nothing on the house.” AHS calls the contractor and he denies the call as if I've been harassing him but I've been very nice.
It's been almost four weeks. Our garage won't open and the outside lights won't come on. We have family coming in so we need them fixed. Then the tech reports something about how our whole house needed to be rewired. He never said that and that's not the case. Now, we're stuck with calling an independent electrician who's making a different report about it. AHS should get much better contractors. When DNZ didn't work out, I told them, "Don't put me with City Electric because I read the reviews. They're all awful.” And they put with City Electric!
The frustrating part besides getting inconsistent reports and being denied is that I'm a realtor and I work with the local American Home Shield rep, who’s very good. But I write my contract for my buyers who are buying homes and I write in American Home Shield as the provider. But I'm going to have to reevaluate and start talking to some other companies because if this is the kind of service and contractors that come out for American Home Shield, then why should I continue to send my customers to them?

Zen Appliance came out for the washer, microwave, and stove. The washer was leaking but the tech found that it was not a leak. The leak was in another place. But that was already fixed. It was something additional here. With the microwave, wherever you entered information was not working. And then, the stove was not turning on. What was wrong with that was the heating element.
Right now, I have issues with the air conditioner and it has been back and forth with service providers and American Home Shield didn't give me the information. What was the service provider checking, and what he recommended. The first service provider that said that he could not service my air conditioner. He doesn't service that type of air conditioner.
I informed that to AHS and they said I have to call the service provider. And then, AHS assigned me another one, the person came, but AHS did not inform me what his recommendation was. And then AHS turned again to the previous one that does not service the air conditioner. It's wasting the time and it's going back and forth. And still, it's a hot summer over here and still I don't have an air conditioner. It's gonna go for three weeks already.

The technician came to our house and inspected the units and gave us a diagnosis that although the unit was working correctly, it was a dated unit and it needed to be replaced. He was just not able to do that based on age, so at that time, no repairs were made.
We've had other repairs done through other companies and one of the things that we never fully understood is we had some out of pocket expenses with other repairs, and I never understood what American Home Shield was helping pay for. Other than that, they were able to get us in touch with somebody quickly. Being that it was the end of July, beginning of August, to call an HVAC company and have them respond within 24 hours, I was pleased with that. It's been easy to submit the claim to AHS. It's relatively pain free. I'm satisfied with AHS. But I wish that when submitting a claim, I could pick the contractor based off of reviews, even if they only gave me two or three options. But everything was smooth in terms of getting my request in and getting a contractor assigned. I was a little bit surprised how casual the plumbing service was, specifically because they asked me how I wanted to receive my paperwork after service. I said I would like for them to email it to me and the contractor said, “Okay, no problem.” They sent me a picture via text message of the paperwork, but then they never emailed me the formal paperwork. I've followed up with them a couple of times and I told them that I need it for expensing purposes. A contractor came out and addressed. About a week later, they came out and installed the new drain pump. The second claim was for a sink in my upstairs bathroom that was not draining. They came out with whatever tool that is to dig down into my pipe and remove whatever nonsense was in my pipes. That took about an hour. Both of them were done on time and I was very satisfied.

My AC was leaking and there was a flood right by my back door. The fee came out before the guy even got there. He said the AC was normal so he didn't do anything. AHS is good in case something needs to be fixed. But as of now, nothing has happened.

The Dawson Service tech who came out for the AC was pretty cool. Also, I was happy that this time, I got a local person. I like working with local people. The last time I had a claim, I had someone from Columbus and it took a while for him to get out.

American Home Shield was very efficient. They kept me informed on when the contractor for my ice maker would be there. When Coastal Appliance came, the service tech was very knowledgeable and quick to diagnose the problem. He said we'd have to order some parts and then they'd come back. He told me when the parts would probably be in. The parts came in three days and they came back right away. Two guys fixed the ice maker and they tested it.
AHS's claim process is pretty good. But with the refrigerator, we have to fix this and this, and that's all included but the filter is not. It would be helpful to know, “Okay, we're coming out to look at X. And so, if it's a problem with this, that's not generally covered.” But if you ask them upfront, they'll tell you. I asked the tech about pipes outside and they said they don't do that. Even when AHS's monthly rate went up a little bit and I called them and asked why, they explained. So it's a good deal.

American Home Shield called me and said that there was a special for when you move into a new home. They would send a locksmith out to change out or to rekey six key doors, and I said okay. ASAP Plumbing was excellent. They came out for the seating for an antique cold water valve. It had been fixed years back. So, it started leaking again. The man was able to show up to diagnose the problem and to repair it without needing to leave to go get parts even though this was an antique fixture. He knew the type of fixture it was, even though it was unlabeled and unbranded, and was able to fix it within a short period of time.
As far as American Home Shield, the difficulty we've had in getting through is that the number that I have for them doesn't usually ring through to them. I've had to go on to the website to get the number to reach them. Somewhere, there's a number mismatch for the number that we originally had for them and the number that is on their website.
Also, I'm not sure what systems we have covered. I want to expand the service but I'm not sure what systems are covered right now. AHS could maybe send an email to let us know what we got because I don't want to make phone calls. I made one phone call because we had a leaking sprinkler system, and I didn't know if that was covered. I called AHS, they dispatched someone, but it was a non-covered thing. I don't want to waste anyone's time or money on a non-covered thing. They could perhaps have an app that would allow us to bring up information that lets us know what's covered just at a glance.

It's been so blooming hot here, and we've been running in three digits for a long time. I had my thermostat set on 80 and the temperature had gone down to 79, and my AC wouldn't shut off. I called American Home Shield for someone to come out and see what was wrong with it. It used to be that I could set up an appointment online, but I couldn't this time. I had to call and everything was automated. There was no live person. I tried to do a chat online and that didn't work.
After I called, I thought, “I'm not supposed to do this because of the electronics in it," but I shut down my AC while it was running. I was told that it could mess up the settings. When it started getting hot in here again, I cut the unit back on and it started working fine. I figured, “Okay, I've paid my 125. They can just come on out and check it,” but everything checked out fine on it, and the guy that came in from Epic had no idea what caused the issue. It was so weird. I asked him if it's possible that there might have been a glitch in the thermostat. He said, “Normally, with the thermostats, when they go, they go. There are no glitches.” He also said that what I paid is good for 30 days with them and if there were any problems like that again, to call and they'll come back out. So far, my AC is still working like it should.
American Home Shield is the best around, and I don't mind paying what I pay each month because it's worth it. I had to go through them one other time a couple years ago for my dryer. It wasn't drying the clothes, so they sent someone out here. One thing that the warranty company does is they check the brand, and they send someone out that deals with that brand. I like that idea ‘cause if the repairman is familiar with the brand, then they ought to be able to take care of it with no problem. The repairman replaced the motor in the dryer and that only cost me 125. That was fantastic.

American Home Shield’s a horrible company. It took them two and a half months to get me a dishwasher. They kept putting it off. I had a really nice dishwasher but they couldn't fix it. It was the top-of-the-line Maytag. They tried to give me a bottom-of-the-line Amana to replace it with after they waited six weeks trying to fix this dishwasher. I fought with them for another several weeks trying to get a half decent dishwasher.
My last experience was great because it was a simple issue. We had to change the capacitor for the fan that wouldn't come on. I probably could have called somebody out cheaper than my copay to them because it was a simple problem but I didn't know that when I called. But if you have a major problem, American Home Shield is not the company you want to be with. I wouldn’t go with them again.

Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Robert and I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

The compressor fan on my refrigerator had stopped working. The refrigerator was still functioning fine. However, the compressor was overheating because there was no fan cooling it. So, there was no warm air coming out of the front of the refrigerator, which should be typical. The side of the refrigerator was heating up, so the machine was working harder than it had to. I called American Home Shield and I got to an agent first. My experience was focused, professional and it was done well.
Before somebody came out, I was told through American Home Shield that I could do a video diagnosis. When I called the actual contractor to touch base with them before they came out, they didn't appear to have any idea what I was talking about a video diagnosis. That was the only issue though. The service from them was great. The repairman was excellent. The refrigerator is operating as it should now. I get the warm breeze from underneath the refrigerator, so I know the fan’s working again. The side of the refrigerator doesn’t heat up anymore, and it runs a lot less. So, there are definitely some energy savings going on.
Overall, American Home Shield does what they claim to do. They provide a service and do it well. I see the value in it. Thankfully, nothing major has gone wrong with my home, but the price point of both the work orders that I put in were just about at the break-even point of doing it myself. So, unfortunately, at this time, I've come to the conclusion that I don't need it going forward. But it is awesome to have that peace of mind knowing that when I bought the home, if something becomes a lemon right away, I didn't have that extra expense at that time.

I had a leak and AHS brought out a plumber. But the plumber didn't go through the crawlspace and he put two holes in the wall, one at the base of the floor just above the floorboard, and one behind the shower stall right about where that on/off spigot is. Then, he didn't fix the issue and ended up going back up to the top of the crawlspace to replace the waterline. But he didn't go far enough and the actual leak was farther down that line. So, he had to come back out another day and put another hole on top of the wall right where it meets the ceiling. So, while the plumber was not horrible, he needs to put more attention to detail as far as the leak.
But American Home Shield was great with getting the subcontractor out and getting the work finished. And now, they got in contact with the drywall folks to bring them out. But there was a little bit of disconnect between the American Home Shield and the plumber about how many holes were actually put on the wall. I was telling American Home Shield that I didn't put any holes in the wall and that that was the plumber looking for a leak when he should have just gone to the top. But all is well now. The fix isn't complete, but I've been pretty pleased so far with the warranty folks.

I called back because it went back out, and then they came back a couple of days later. They told me that it was a grounded compressor. They did that. Then, they were saying that they couldn't get it to work properly and that was it. They said they will call me today to get it fixed. But no one, not Myers nor AHS has reached out to me, to tell me how or when they're gonna resolve this. But submitting the claim with AHS was pretty easy. However, I didn't know that I can expedite it. It didn't give me that option online. I tried to call and talk to the rep, I could expedite it live. Every time I’ve had a problem, American Home Shield has responded. I have two rental properties that I use it for. I shopped around when it was time to renew but American Home Shield seems to be the most cost-effective when it comes to when you shop à la carte or even in their packages. The other companies offer you free time where they're not very clear on what they're covering but American Home Shield is. The only thing is I am able to give the contractor the information on the problem when I contact them but I would rather have a spot on American Home Shield's website that I can fill in myself. Instead, when you submit a claim, they give you a drop-down and you'd have to choose one of the problems.

They got me another date, which was a day before, but they did their end of it. The representative I talked to seemed like he cared and wanted to get ahold of the problem and get it solved for me. The techs came in, diagnosed it, got in, got out and the dryer works. They were on time like they said it was gonna be. It was fantastic. We've been in this house for 23 years. I brought AHS here from St. Louis. My wife was in real estate up there in the '80s and early '90s, and we picked it up on a house that we had up there in the '80s in St. Louis. I have been with American Home Shield for a long time. The benefit is that you really don't have to pay for the repairs. You just pay your deductible and if the claim is covered, they repair it or replace it. I do claims over the phone or the computer. The phone one is faster and that is the best for me. I used the home warranty for my garage door and my garbage disposal. They didn't do so well with the dryer. We bought this house and the dryer went out. I was told they could not pay for that kind of dryer. I replace my appliances but I'm not going to see a benefit if anything should happen to the dryer washer that I have now because they're brand new and they're not cheap either. Other than that, American Home Shield's service is great. I'm going to call them and have them send a repairman back out to take a look at my air conditioner again because it's still making noise.

My recent claim with AHS has been addressed fairly well, for the most part. The only bad thing is, I've been with no AC for nine days now. I'm in Texas in the middle of July. I know it's not their fault. I'm almost 50 years old. I take care of my grandma who's on oxygen 24/7. So it's been rough. My issue is I didn't have hot water and I didn't have AC. My house is all electric and my dryer would turn on, but it wouldn't heat up.
We thought that it was electrical, something to do with the breaker box. Because every time we put on this one breaker, it would trip. I paid for the electrician to come out. He searched and searched. He found some issues. I've only been in this house a year. So he couldn't really figure out why I was sharing breaker. But he said that my power was okay. So I still have an open service with that. He said he was going to need to come back and look in the attic and find out what is all sharing. Because when he went to go do the disconnect for the AC, it kept tripping that breaker. He said, "Everything is fine on this end." I called the AC technician to come out. The AC technician tested the fan and it came on. He tested the capacitor and it was fine. Which they should have been because I just had it replaced with my other home warranty five months ago.
He tried the compressor, and every time he tried to test it, the breaker would trip. It sounded like it was blocked up, it wouldn't do anything. He told me that my compressor was bad and that I needed a new one. It just stinks that I've been waiting so long. My out of pocket was 655, which I had already known I was going to be paying for the refrigerant. I just think that maybe they could make an exception and make it a little bit faster.
I had to go buy a $400 portable AC. My grandmother is 91 and I cannot transport her like that. I only have small canisters of oxygen. It just wasn't feasible. I figured if I was going to go stay in a hotel room for $100 a night, I might as well just buy this portable AC. But it's only good for a room. I have two dogs, three cats, and three kids and we're miserable. If they would have offered some type of service like when you order something from Amazon, you could pay three days shipping or next day shipping and that's something I would have probably gone for.
My parents in Las Vegas use American Home Shield. They live in a house that I grew up in. They've had lots of claims and they've never had any issues. If AHS couldn't fix it, they always replaced it. So, I said, "This is what I need." The last home warranty company that I had, I had to call my own person. Nobody wanted to work with us 'cause we're with a home warranty. I appreciate calling American Home Shield and then sending out somebody that they have a contract with. It was a lot easier to find somebody to come to the house. My overall experience was very good. I just wish that I could have gotten something sooner.

But the last time I called, I met a young guy who was very helpful to me because I was about to cancel my contract. A tech came out, something happened and they never gave me a feedback. I waited and waited and I called American Home Shield. They said the contractor said that my copay was supposed to be 300 or 600.
Wades Plumbing was the one that found out that the leak was coming from the washing machine from underneath and not the pipe. We turned on the machine, put some laundry in it and the tech from Wades Plumbing stood there and watched. Meanwhile, the whole downstairs ceiling was all soaked. Water was pouring down from the machine. So, I had to go there and try to remove the water and throw it in the sink. But whatever was left, my whole ceiling has to be replaced. Palmetto Appliance is supposed to come and take care of my washing machine and assess it.

I have an issue with a refrigerator right now. The demand and the supply are lagging because of COVID. One of the problems is why are we paying a warranty if it's taking just as long to get the job done. American Home Shield has a 24-hour call then it takes 10 days. I have a family of five kids and they don't have a refrigerator. The whole purpose of paying insurance is so I don't have to pay property management because I have the home warranty. American Home Shield needs to provide rentals until they get the parts because of the shortage that's going on because of the COVID. We're not getting the service that we need.
That refrigerator issue aside, I have a tenant that had a plumbing issue and that got repaired promptly. The only thing is anytime you have a plumbing issue, the service fee is 100 which is a little bit pricey. I understand plumbing in general but the issue was just the gasket. I also had another refrigerator part that got repaired promptly as soon as the refrigerator item came in. But again, they had to wait for the parts. Other than that, the service was very good and there was a 24-hour return. The vendors have been awesome. I have no qualms with any of them so far. As soon as they call, I submit the service and within five minutes, I have the vendor. I also have who's gonna come out and I have their contact number so that the tenant feels like, "Okay. She took care of it. Now, I have to deal with the vendor."
overall, I'm really happy. American Home Shield is saving me a ton of money. I probably had seven calls in the last 18 months. I have two properties and I have them leased. I'm getting ready to buy another property and I requested that they go with American Home Shield because I preferred them on the contract. We discovered a leak on Sunday morning. We saw that there was some water dripping on to our first floor ceiling. We called American Home Shield as soon as we saw the leak. They sent someone out that day, and he could not figure out where the leak was coming from. He cut into the drywall and removed some insulation. Everything was wet there, so he couldn't initially tell where the leak was coming from. So, he said to give them a call back and they'd come out and fix it once we saw where water was coming from. We put a new request later that day when we saw where it was coming from. I ended up calling in the morning, trying to get them to come out. They said they couldn't be here until Friday.
This was a real problem because we had an active leak in our home, and we had a bunch of wet drywall on our ceiling. We needed to get the water restoration people in to make sure we can get the mold and not have further damage to the house, and they wouldn't come in until the leak was fixed. So, we needed them to come out sooner. I called them. The plumber said that was the earliest they could come. I called American Home Shield and said, "This needs to get fixed sooner." They kept blowing me off. They would say, "We'll talk to the plumbers and call you back in four hours," and then repeatedly failed to call me back. Eventually, I gave up and called the plumber myself and paid with my own money. At that point, I demanded my money back because they had failed to fix the problem for which we paid a deductible.
American Home Shield should fulfill their promises. I called them multiple times and was like, "Can you call another plumber? Can you talk to these plumbers? Can you try and get them out sooner?" They said, "We'll do our best and we'll call you back in four hours,” and then no one called. After the first time this happened, I made them promise to call me back. One person even said, "I take my promises very seriously. I'll call you back." Then there was no call. Also, they have to be timely with their repairs. You can't leave a leaking pipe in a house for a week. It's not feasible. It's gonna cause more damage to the home.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

American Home Shield's process of getting a company out here has been streamlined and it is nice to not have to deal with that. Additionally, they've included the ability to do a remote triage for some things. That would be a lot easier most of the time than trying to schedule with the contractor between three to four-hour windows, which doesn't really work well with a family of seven. Unfortunately, my particular microwave didn't qualify for that remote triage.
Generally, I've had really good luck with the technicians who came out. The only ones that I have had consistent issues with have been with the HVAC technicians. They are not very responsive and I had a horrible experience with one of them. We had a unit that was worked on several times before and we needed a new one. The technician reported to American Home Shield that our unit wasn't in compliance when it was installed. That had been after five years of work that had already been done on it. It voided our warranty so we ended up having to pay out of pocket. We later found out that what the technician said about not being in compliance isn't required in the State of Texas. That was a $5,000 expenditure that was unnecessary and it was caused by the technician because he wasn't interested in doing the work. Other than that, I recommended American Home Shield on several different occasions to different folks.

The Service Mechanical of Tidewater people who came out for my water heater and AC got here when they told me they were coming. They were here on time and they immediately fixed the problem. Both times I've used American Home Shield, there was no hassle. I have had really good experiences so far. I have referred my best friend to American Home Shield and she signed up with them. I'm still waiting on the gift card.
I had another claim for the water heater back in March. The plumber that American Home Shield assigned came out and he turned up the heat on my water heater. I have small children and the water was so hot that it was burning us. So it didn't fix the problem. From March until now, the water heater went out. But then now, I had to pay two service fees. So that kind of sucks because American Home Shield only covers for 30 days. But other than that, I'm very happy with Service Mechanical. I will be trying to request them for plumbing or heating and air.

The techs were diligent on their schedule and they tried to minimize work that could have been avoided. They tried to focus on just the work areas at hand and they tried to avoid really making a mess of things. The communication between myself and American Home Shield was good as well. At first, they tried to do things through their automated system and I deterred from trying to do it that way. I wanted to speak with an actual person and eventually I did speak with a person and told him my concern. They were good with getting me set up with a contractor, allowing me to set up an appointment with them and moving forward until the job was completed.
It was an experience that I didn't want to go through but things happen, and I was glad I have American Home Shield. The service that AHS provides is excellent and I'm looking to recommend them to my sister and to my relatives. Them being homeowners, the warranty is something that’s crucial and important. For my recent claim with AHS, the oven wasn’t heating. The techs needed to replace the heating element. It was fine. They repaired it and it's working great now. I've had issues with the company that American Home Shield has recommended though. They didn't call me. They crossed two of the numbers on my phone number. So they couldn't get ahold of me, which made no sense because I’ve seen the claim go through. But that's what the guy stated. I had to call him a week later and get it all set up. He apologized and he sent somebody out right away.
Right now, I am dealing with the AC unit having to be repaired, which I'm waiting for somebody to show up today. I'm not too thrilled about this one particular company. It took a long time to get them out and then they didn't provide my phone number to the technician that's going to come out. But American Home Shield has been amazing, especially in comparison to other companies and how I've heard that they handle their business.
The copay is also very low. Their claim system is amazing online, as well. I know that some of these other companies that people are dealing with don't even have that option. They usually have to call it in. In this case, AHS is pretty good about that. The four by four coverage is amazing too. They cover anything that you needed to be done at your house. They just need to be a little bit better screening when it comes to the people they recommend.

The contractors have been okay for the most part. But one of them dragged their feet forever to submit the claim with me and American Home shield calling them multiple times. There was a point where I was thinking, "This is just pointless. Let me just cancel this and move on and figure something else out." But eventually, it did get resolved. I wound up hiring somebody else to do the job. And I still have to submit that claim to American Home Shield to get reimbursed.
We've only had this warranty for about a year and usually, the claim submission process is okay. It's just the finalization that can take time. I have some frustrations with American Home Shield's ability to expedite or resolve an issue in a reasonable time frame. Over the 48-hour window that they say they need to arrive at a decision, I can wind up having to call American Home Shield multiple times.
I had a water heater that needed to be replaced and they told me they were only going to pay a certain amount. But if you looked at the average cost of a water heater and replacing a water heater, it was well above the amount they gave. There was no way for me to challenge their decision or give them a couple of estimates in the local community and say that they should match those.

My toilet wouldn't stop running and I couldn't figure out how to do it. And then I turned on and off the water, and then the water wouldn't shut off from the house. So there were two things wrong with it. I was able to get it to stop, but when you flush the toilet and it would fill back up, it wouldn't stop. You would have to mess with the ball mechanism that slides up and down to float to make it stop. And then when I shut off the water to the house, it wouldn't shut all the way off. Finally, I just got it to stop by messing with the flow. I submitted the claim online, and American Home Shield assigned a contractor who then contacted me, came out and fixed my problem. AHS previously sent out some shady people. That was by far the best company that I've dealt with so far.

They got the job done, and American Home Shield paid their part of the A coil replacement in the air conditioner. Unfortunately, I had to pay 1,000 bucks for the Freon.
I've had different houses, and we've had American Home Shield for a long time now. Our monthly payment is now a lot more than it used to be, but we've gotten our money's worth out of it. They've replaced Freon, A coils, and a motor in the condenser outside on this house. On another house, they replaced the sump pump. The air conditioner stopped working, which was the second time in 20 days. When I called to set up an AC appointment, I was told by the AC people, who I'm not pleased with at all, that I was going to have to have an electrician come out there as well as them. Diamond Electric then came out. I was completely happy with them. They did everything the right way, fast, efficient, no problems whatsoever with them.
American Home Shield is okay. But they set me up with a company to come out but that company could not come out for eight days. So, for eight days, we had no air conditioning in the hottest part of the summer so, I was very upset about that. When I called American Home Shield to complain about it, they said that they would try to contact another vendor, and they would let me know. But they never let me know. I called back a second time complaining because I still had no AC. I was told that not only were they going to be an extra day longer, but they also pushed the time back three times within the same day. I'm not happy with the air conditioning people that they chose.
Then, when the guy came out, he said, "That's a bad breaker." It really wasn't a bad breaker at all. It turned out, it was this wire that was underneath the house that the electrician found. I was so frustrated. What it was is a critter had gotten under the house, had chewed the insulation off of the wire, and the condensation from the air conditioner was dripping on that wire, shorting it out. So, that was why it kept blowing the breakers and why had no AC. And within five minutes after the electrician was here, he had that figured out. But the AC man was here five minutes, and said, "You need to go buy a new breaker" after eight days of no AC.
As far as the American Home Shield, themselves, I love them. I recommend them. I was a customer of theirs years ago, which is why I went ahead and bought the policy again. However, my policy went up and I was never informed that it was going up in cost. I just know that I've always had it on auto pay for $60, and I've paid that amount forever. Then, all of a sudden, I went to check the bank account to make sure that I have enough money in, checking off bills that are coming through, and I saw $75 instead of 60. So, I called them and they said, "Didn't you get the email?" I said, "I would not be calling you if I got it." It's not that I didn't get the email but it did not catch my eye that it was an increase in payments. I told him that what they should have done was sent out a quote, a paper notification along with the email in that case.

The latest time we requested service with American Home Shield was pretty quick, but there was one that is still pending from a year ago. It was terrible. I put a complaint regarding that. The claim was regarding the washing machine in which American Home Shield sent about four contractors. I don't know what was the issue with these contractors because they were saying that they couldn't fix it. Then they were saying that they are going to replace it. They took maybe a month, and they didn't want to replace it. So I put a complaint, and then they agreed to replace entirely. That request was put in May. Then I got the resolution in July. They agreed to reimburse. The maximum would be between 900 and 1,000. So now, I need to get a washing machine and go through the process of reimbursement.
With the recent claim, everything went smooth because I already had the same issue. It was our water heater. We already knew which company should we use because they were the ones who installed it last year. I didn't go through any hassle. American Home Shield contacted the same company. This company, JED Plumbing and Gas, came right away. The water heater works now.

When I had an air conditioning problem, we had to wait a month. That was ridiculous. I called the air conditioning company and asked what was going on. I told them I got kids that are asthmatic. It was too hot. I had fans in the house going on, but they were not enough. They talked to American Home Shield, ordered the part and had it put together after that in a couple of days. Because it was a Friday that they came out, so they had to wait until the following Monday or Tuesday. And that was fine. My landscaper guy said he's done everything he can to prevent it. He went out in the backyard and dug up everything, changed all the valves. When the tech was there, like anything else, it never happens. But I reset my sprinklers for 5:30 in the morning and I can hear a little boom when it first comes on. Then, I do a little irrigation on my deck with my plants and I can hear that noise. I spent 100 bucks but the noise is still there. I need to call and see if they want to send somebody back out to check in again.
When I call American Home Shield, I get transferred from one person to another person. I also have to go through all this again, my phone number, my email address, my residence address and that's a lot of waste of time. They also increased my price so much that I'm probably not going to renew. The last time I took a look at it, it was 90 bucks and I was paying 50 in the beginning. So that, I'm not happy with. My claims through American Home Shield are horrible. My AC wasn't working, and they sent this company out, Summer Breeze. That was not a good experience. They came out and they said that we needed a coil. What they were telling me really wasn't correct. They were saying to replace a part. But if I replace that part, it wouldn't match the unit and it could cause some issues. So, I ended up not using them. I had to pay for someone to get it fixed outside of them. I was going to put it in a claim and to have them do a cash out. I just haven't gotten around to do it yet. The AC was just fixed like two weeks ago, but they really didn't give me much. I couldn't go straight with them because they were not willing to fix the AC. So, I lost out on that.
I feel like sometimes the companies that they contract are not the best ones. I found that one of the companies I had before was not a good and reputable company. When I did some research on them, they had horrible reviews. They could make sure they're using reputable contractors. Also, they should make it clear what would be covered. When my AC was broken, they were telling me that they don't fix that, they'll only do the parts, and it wasn't clear to me. So ultimately, they didn't really do me any favors. I couldn't use them.
Recently, my stove's fuse blew in the circuit breaker. So, American Home Shield sent someone out. Originally, my microwave was not working as well. They sent someone out. He couldn't fix it. So, they had to send someone else out to fix the circuit breaker. He came out and did it. I pay $75 when somebody comes out. That's not awful because it could be more awful using someone else. I've had varying responses from different people. It's kind of hit or miss.

My microwave wouldn't turn on and my washing machine would wash, but when it got to the spin cycle, it would just shut off. The repair company came out and repaired both units. For the washing machine, they got the code and said it was the suspensions. Now, the microwave works, but I had to leave and I haven't had a chance to run the washing machine through an entire cycle. Apart from that, the repairman was excellent. He explained what he was doing, what was going on, and he was very professional.
What I look for is consistency and timeliness, when someone makes a report and puts it in. With my old home warranty, the first repairman came out, looked at my dishwasher and said, "Oh, well," and then he ordered a part. Someone different came out to replace the board and said that the first repairman ordered the wrong part. A third person came out and said, "Oh, we don't think it can be repaired. We're going to meet you halfway." I paid almost $1,000 for my dishwasher, and that person said that. It was supposed to have been repair or replace. Come to find out, the man across the street from me who's not a repair person came over and fixed my dishwasher.
I got rid of my old home warranty, and I am satisfied with American Home Shield. I didn't have any trouble getting in touch with them or getting the request assigned. One of the positive things based on my experience was the camera that they had me hook into, where they could get all the information off the device before they came. They ordered in the parts and it was so much easier because they didn't have to come out, look at it and get the model number. They already had that.

I love Appliance Mavericks. They were fabulous. I will be grateful to have them come back and do work at my house. They did my installation wonderfully. They were super clean, put down the mats where they were working and did not a scratch on anything. I wanted to get them for this most recent service call with All Pro. They are horrible compared to Mavericks. When Mavericks was at my house, they said they could do the issue too but couldn't do it that day. They said they were booked up.
When I called American Home Shield they wouldn't drop All Pro, who has very poor communications with me. They came to my house and diagnosed the problem on my freezer and refrigerator. However, there was a part I found on the floor. It came off of my freezer drawer. I sent a picture to them but they never replied to me. They were also supposed to come last Wednesday but didn't. They said they had me down for Thursday but I couldn't take another day off work. They were able to reschedule it for Friday but when I tried to get them to confirm it on text messages, they just would say between 11:00 to 3:00. It was very frustrating.
They came Friday and I was expecting some kind of reply from American Home Shield, which I got very quickly with another situation that was for my dishwasher. The guys that did my dishwasher sent the request in and they had the answer for me before they left. American Home Shield was covering my entire dishwasher to be replaced 'cause it was that bad. The process with the dishwasher was amazing. I never thought I was going to get anything covered under the warranty. I'm very pleased that American Home Shield handled it. But with All Pro, they didn't submit the request right away to American Home Shield. I am waiting still to hear from American Home Shield and I know All Pro didn't include this other part that I found on the ground.
Sometimes when you're calling American Home Shield's regular customer service, you can tell they're from another country. They still are very professional but I always wonder if they're understanding what I'm saying. Also, there are little tricky things in the language that's not stated in the contract clearly. I got a plumbing service call. I did it online and chose faucet. I didn't see anything saying anywhere in my contract that a faucet outside of your house is called a spigot and it's not covered. I had a plumber come out and paid $100. I also ordered an electrician to come out thinking the claim would be covered. The electrician was kind enough to explain to me, "They're not going to cover your circuit board at all. They're only going to cover an outlet." I have a ceiling fan with a problem and they're not going to cover that too. I went and looked at all these things and found that those were more detailed but it didn't detail the electrical very well.

We had water behind the washing machine but it wasn't from the washing machine. When I called American Home Shield, I thought it was an issue with the hot water heater and that was what I said. I thought that because the water was extending from where the water heater is in the garage all the way to the opposite wall where the AC behind the washing machine is. I saw some condensation too. It was inside the unit but I couldn't get to the very back to see where it was coming from or what it was.
When the hot water heater guy got here, he said that the problem was the AC. I called American Home Shield back and they said to call another guy. I did that last Thursday and he came on Friday. He replaced some kind of tubing and he said we should consider replacing the machine. It's running at a much lower efficiency at maybe 40%. He was professional and he did the job. He was very gracious because he wasn't telling me anything I didn't know. He said he could make the unit work, which he did because it's cooling the house now.
Other contractors told me that our AC unit has been patch-worked by all sorts of different parts by all sorts of different techs that have come out through American Home Shield. It's been totally rebuilt. I wish that American Home Shield would be willing to help us invest in a new machine because this is ridiculous. We called them out in May and asked for a service update before the heat came. Initially, they said we would have to find somebody on our own but they must have thought about it because we got a notice that said American Home Shield will pay for servicing of our unit. We got the unit serviced through their recommendation. We were told we should be fine but we weren't.
I appreciate the service of American Home Shield and being able to address various needs. But I need them to step up. We've been customers for a long time. It's disappointing that I'm on my own in terms of trying to get this done because my home warranty is not really being of service. It's more of just putting a band-aid on the problem until it can't be done so anymore. In Arizona, the AC issues that people like ourselves could have really need to be specialized for this part of the country because we deal with extreme heat. We're dealing with realities that go beyond the home warranty company. But if they could help us make it better, then there would be more customer loyalty to the company. If there are discounts to get a new unit or if there is some kind of incentive to get a new unit on the part of American Home Shield, I would be interested.

But other than that, it was constant noise and that was the problem. The gentleman was in and out quickly but he got the problem solved. He was very good. My microwave is working but sometimes, it takes a long time so I’m keeping an eye on that. But right now, everything is fine. My first problem was the garbage disposal and that was handled just as easily and I've been very happy with American Home Shield so far. We have running water in our kitchen now. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. Getting someone out was really easy. All I did was make one phone call and everything was set up in place. AHS gave me a phone number for a company and they contacted them and sent them out. I had two orders. One was the dishwasher and they repaired that. But the microwave has not been repaired yet. They want me to go online and shop for one and I'm not comfortable ordering a microwave and having it be incorrect. I could leave it up to them and they give me a cheap microwave or I could order the microwave. If I order it, then they're gonna send someone out to install it. I'm going to work on ordering the microwave but the only problem is I got some rubble-like thing up around the top of my microwave and the ones that I looked at on their website didn't have that.

I didn't have hot water so I called American Home Shield and then they got somebody out there the day after that. The guy replaced the whole mechanism that’s associated with the pilot and lit it. He told me I’d have hot water in 30 minutes or so. I had hot water for a short while. But then, I called back to tell the contractor that I no longer had hot water. He came out again and lit the pilot. He told me everything was fine. But I had hot water for a short time again and I called back the contractor. They sent out a different guy. He looked at everything and said it looked fine. He said it would probably need to be flushed out, which was the first time anybody has mentioned anything about that. He lit the pilot and also upped the temperature because the other guy had the temperature on the lowest setting. After that, I have hot water and then I called somebody else out there and got it flushed out. I have hot water now.
The first guy that came out twice said that American Home Shield would not replace the water heater unless I had a leak. He advised me to get a leak detector, and then the second guy told me where to place it. So I went to Lowe's and bought a leak detector. The second guy also showed me how to turn the water off if this alarm goes off very quickly. He seemed to have more knowledge of what our water heater really does and doesn't do, and what you’re supposed to do and don't do. He seemed to have expertise and helped me out more. Throughout the process, contacting the contractor on the phone was not that easy. The first guy told me to call them directly and I was trying to do that but they wouldn’t answer. I couldn’t get ahold of him. It was a mess. Also, I had to pay for the flushing and the leak detector.

We had a broken washer and EJ Appliances needed to order the parts. At first, they said the part will come in five to seven days, and then it took a lot longer. So the better option for us was buying a new washer. EJ Appliances was fantastic. I was really satisfied with them. They called us before we heard back from American Home Shield every time. They called us to let us know the status and asking if American Home Shield contacted us about that one. But American Home Shield did not contact us back until about two days after EJ Appliances let us know the status. We ended up buying a new washer so we just need to get the instruction and submit the receipt to get the money back.
I had another claim with American Home Shield and the contractor that came out was really, really good. They fixed the problem and explained great detail with us. So we were happy with that. But overall, I have problems with American Home Shield. I keep calling and checking people giving me information. They don't give me the right information. I keep having to wait and call back. Occasionally, I get an idiot, but I understand the process. My biggest complaint is, a couple of times, I was trying to explain what my malady was, and they didn't understand what appliance I was talking about. The CSR's understanding about the individual products could be improved. There are so many different things American Home Shield covers so it may be really hard but a little bit more training on individual specifics would probably be good.

My clothes weren't ringing out. A tech was sent out and I saw that when he turned it on, it was out of balance. On the machine, he showed me how you have to lift it up and off the floor in the back. He got it back in balance. He also fixed my soap dispenser. He was really good and professional. I would recommend Fixon Appliance. I would ask for him again. I submitted my claim to American Home Shield by telephone, and that was easy. I was given who was coming out and their phone number. I was also told that if they didn't call me, I had to call them back.
The only complaint I have about AHS is that when they raise my monthly fee, they don't tell me. So, I go about deducting the same amount, and then all of a sudden, my checkbook's messed up. It happened once before and when I did call, I had the automated thing and it was telling me, "Well, this contract is null and void." I was like, "Wait a minute, I just made a payment." So, I pressed the buttons to get a live person and she said it expires next month. I said, "So was somebody going to raise it again? Is anybody going to tell me what's going to happen?" She said I'd have to call sales. That didn't make me happy. I think they should be contacting me and telling me, "Hey, we need to raise the rates or whatever." Other than that, it's great to have something covered because I've had my air conditioner, dryer and a faucet fixed.

There was nothing they could do other than check and make sure that the ducts had no damage and were all connected, and that the size of the air conditioner in this house now wasn't enough to fully air condition the whole house because this is a three-bedroom, and suggested either a larger air conditioner or either adding another zone to the house. So, I went online to redo my order and it said it's still not working. And then, it automatically prompted me for another $100 payment. So, I searched for the phone number and called in. But that minor glitch in their system caught my attention. If it's something that you're still having problems with, which just got fixed, the website should not lead you directly to put in another $100 payment. Other than that, everybody has been great and everything has been very timely. It just so happened that for this claim, the appliance worked for a week, but then the tech had to order a part.

I used American Home Shield's website to make a claim and it was a very seamless process. The website told me the name of the company and the contact number. Outside of that, I got a text message from the home warranty company stating that my ticket had been assigned to that contractor. That contractor called me in less than an hour and said, “I'll be in the area. I received your ticket from your home warranty people.” It was very quick.
The person who came gave very good service. He was very polite and professional. I showed him where the garage was and pointed out what the issue was. I then allowed him to work. Once he got done, he came back and explained to me the short-term resolution he could offer. He installed a button that was almost doorbell-looking right next to the actual switch. That allowed the garage door to come up more easily. He told me that the lifespan of the garage door is coming to an end. He showed me where the garage door was bent which was causing it to slowly come up. He told me that I may want to start looking at replacing it. For that type of garage door, it would be around $1,500.
On the whole, the initial welcoming was a little shaky but I got the right person on the phone that resolved things. As far as putting in the tickets, that has been very user-friendly on my end and very straightforward. With the pandemic and the COVID, family members wanted American Home Shield but a lot of them didn't have the money to pay, so I helped them out. I've got three people, then seven of my relatives, and I've had three other neighborly people that I've referred to them. There was a plumbing issue where my sister is. The maintenance guy said that there was a leak with the cartridge and it was coming down to someone's apartment below. Apparently, the guy's ceiling on the third floor was messed up from a leak from my sister's plumbing. When the guy from the American Home Shield came out, he checked the cartridge and he checked everything. We thought that it was going to be just a matter of changing the cartridge. He said that American Home Shield doesn't go into anybody else's apartment to see where a leak is coming from, so he was limited to what he was able to do.
There were certain vendors that the cousins had had some experience with that weren't good. And so, if they tried to get one of my relatives to go with that vendor, they should actually listen. Like for plumbing, there were vendors that came out and didn't do anything as they didn't see any leak even though the cousins were telling them that there was. I didn't like that. I told my cousin to call American Home Shield because when they'd do things like that, they'd still bill the company as if they've done something and that's not true. I have issues with that when I know that there's a bad vendor, I'd tell them not to send that vendor out. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with American Home Shield.

I tried to tell them that I don't want to do business with that company and they made it really difficult for me to try to work with a different company. Then, I had someone from A+ Appliance come look at my washer. He listened to it and said my drain has failed. I got an email from AHS and I gave them a call. They said AHS is not going to cover the cost of getting the washer fixed because there's a foreign object in the drain. But the guy did not open up the washer at all.
I called the technician and he said the foreign object that may be blocking the drain pump may be a part of the drain pump itself. There is absolutely no reason that AHS should not be covering the repair. AHS said they would send out a second opinion. If the new tech finds the same thing wrong, then I would have to pay another $75 service fee. There’s no guarantee that I have to pay the service fee, but there’s a guarantee that my time will be wasted. It seems like my time and my money are not being valued. I just installed a new drain pump on this washing machine and I got it for $30 off of Amazon. There were no foreign objects in there. I don't want to renew my home warranty with AHS.

American Home Shield has improved the phone call. It used to be complicated and it was hard to get to them. If you got something broken here and you mention it, the computer handles it. So, it's a lot better than it used to be. The last claim I had was for a garbage disposal. I had it before and there's a tool you use to work it under the bottom. The tech came here and all he had to do was crank it a couple of times and walk off. It worked fine. That one was my mistake. The plumbing company that comes here, Truss, do a very good job. I used them before a long time ago. They do excellent work.
This house is probably a little over 35 years old so, you're gonna have things constantly wearing out. AHS works good. It covers a lot of stuff and a lot of little stuff that goes wrong. So, that has been a big advantage to us. They keep increasing the price per month though. You're paying $87 a month and you're paying $75 for the work they're doing. So, you got to figure out somewhere in there where there's a happy medium. But we’ll continue to use AHS. Right now, we're satisfied with it.

The electrical box on my patio started smoking. It's an enclosed room and I wasn't sure that was enough to call the fire department or not. But it stopped and everything calmed down. I called American Home Shield and they sent out an electrician that came out within 48 hours and was very prompt, clean and well-spoken. Replaced the electrical box and explained that it was probably due to having had water come into the area. That sometimes happens. I was very pleased with what the contractor did and the promptness and how they responded. They also followed up several times with a text and the electrician called me on his way. The contractor did excellent service. This is the first time we’d had a warranty service and so far, I'm pleased with what I'm seeing with AHS.

Submitting the claim to American Home Shield has been very positive. I had to add an item to my work order and it was a very simple process. They called the appliance store for me and added it to my ticket. I only had to pay the $100 deductible one time for both appliances, so I can't complain about that. That was good. The contractor was awesome. I liked him because he was an older gentleman and he was old school. He knew what was wrong with my dishwasher before he even tried to trouble shoot it. People should consider AHS especially if their appliances are older, like mine, which are all 15 years old. I'm paying about $50 a month and I could have bought a new washing machine with the money I had put into premiums. But then, if something else goes out, who knows? I would recommend AHS.

Ark-La-Flow Plumbing did a good job but when you're waiting on them to call, you're limited on what else you can do. After they found the problem, got it approved and called back to schedule when they were going to make the repair, they gave me an eight-hour window from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The issue was in a rental property and I like to be around or check on it after they're done. So, that's all day and you're tied to your house. You can't get out and do very much because they can call you at any time. So, the appointment time needs to be more direct. They're busy and sometimes they don't know how long the job they're on will last. But anything greater than two to three hours is too long of a window. Also, I have an issue on what was covered. I had bad plumbing problems into the foundation and it was only so much that AHS was gonna pay. It was going to make it expensive for me.
In the long run, American Home Shield is costly if you’re not using it often. The yearly amount can add up and not only am I paying the monthly fee, but there’s also another fee on top of that when I use it. So, it would be better if we paid the monthly fee because we're paying anyway although I don't see why I have to pay the co-pay too. But as far as the service, it has been okay.

Everything was automated when I submitted a claim with AHS. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't speak to somebody about scheduling. They just said, “A technician will be assigned, and they'll be contacting you for an appointment.” We were gonna have to go out of town for a couple of days. I ended up writing down the information of who the vendor was because it said who would be doing it with a phone number. I ended up getting up really early, calling them the next business day and said, “We need an appointment in three days, not today or tomorrow.” If I'd been in town, that would have been great about how responsive, to get something really soon, but it didn't give me an option for like, “Do you have a day that you want them to come?” It just auto-assigned you.
Also, I find it pricey that every time I call, I pay a service call. For our garage door, we paid the garage door company to come to fix it, and literally two days later, it didn't work. Then we already paid those guys $249 to supposedly fix the issue. I forgot we had AHS. So I called the AHS rep and had to pay $79. Luckily, the tech was able to fix it. But every time, if it breaks down again, I’ll have to pay another. I just find that that adds up a lot. There shouldn’t be such a high fee or should be included as part of the policy.

The contractor took care of the leak. They came quick and they were good. However, I feel like American Home Shield tries to get out of more claims than they want to pay us. This particular one was covered. They didn't have anywhere to go. But in general, I'm not crazy about the pricing of the AHS considering they don't pay for much. I'm probably not going with it next year because I found a company that's a lot cheaper. My mom uses them and she said that they pay a lot more claims. I've read their contract and it does cover a lot more.
People should read the contract and just know what they're willing to cover, if it's even worth it. You have to do the math. So, you got to pay $75 fee for every visit, and then you got to pay about 900 a year, in my case, for my pool and my house. So, what's your break-even point if you have a claim? Because it sounds like you're always going to be in the negative. And when they don't want to pay anything over a couple of $100, you're not really benefiting. I'm better off either not buying a warranty or buying one that's half the price that covers more.

The claims process was pretty straightforward. It was pretty easy to do online. I just picked from a dropdown menu, put it up, and then AHS would try to set a contractor up for it. The tech that came out for the AC was really good. The capacitor went out and he knocked it out pretty quick and then took off. I also put in a claim for ductwork. AHS set me up. They took the deductible and then they contacted the contractor.
The first contractor didn't answer the phone. I called for a few days in a row but it went to voicemail. I told AHS I needed a different guy. They set me up with a different contractor. Then that contractor said they didn't take American Home Shield claims at the time because they were so backed up. The third contractor put me in a queue. So for easy fixes, my experience with AHS was nice. But trying to get somebody set up for that ductwork call was kind of a letdown.

We had a plumber come out because I had gotten three emails about a possible water leak. He came out a day later but they had to reschedule for the next day because the guy who was gonna come wasn't feeling good or got overheated and he had to go home that day. Luckily, it was just the seals on one of our bathtub faucets that was leaking. The plumber was very polite and knowledgeable. He fixed the issue quickly and got here on a timely manner. It was the same thing for the air conditioner and it was also within a couple of days that the techs were able to come out and fix the issue. The fan blade was not moving on our AC’s outdoor unit. The contractor came and replaced the capacitor and it's been working ever since. I would highly recommend American Home Shield because the service fees are not hellacious and all around, within the first time you have to use them, it definitely pays itself off.

When the technician came, I had just drained the pool. He told me that I had to refill it so he could figure out what was going on with the pump and check the filters. But he diagnosed what he thought the issue would be. Once I filled the pool up, he came back out, and we realized that there was air that had gotten into the filter that made it so the pump wasn’t blowing. He was able to fix it the same day when he came out the second time. I would recommend and continue to use AHS because they were very professional.

Our house is vacant now because of all the damage due to the storm so we thought we’d have everything else checked that wasn't affected. We knew that one air conditioner probably had a leak. It was the tech's attitude. He lied about the filters not being in place. They were sucked up further where he couldn't see them but they were there. Whoever called me from American Home Shield said, “You didn't have your filters in place.” But that has absolutely nothing to do with Freon or a leak.
I didn't like the fact that he lied. I'm not used to people lying about something so silly. He finally settled down. At first, he was rude, just expecting that we wanted something for nothing. But we knew we had a problem. And now, of course, we do have a problem. The air conditioner is out in the bedroom. So I was irritated. The feeling I got was that they're gonna do anything not to get me an air conditioner if I neede one. My unit is fixable but Freon is extremely expensive and to put Freon into a 20-year-old machine makes no sense whatsoever. It’s money down the drain and the tech didn't even mention fixing the leak.
I'm looking at other companies now because I'm at a loss. I have the insurance in case something goes majorly wrong. I wanted to be covered because we've had enough expenses with the storm as it is. The garage door people were phenomenal and fantastic people. Overall, I like the way AHS responds. They’ve always followed through and up to this point they were good. This last AC tech was supposed to be representing American Home Shield but he's not AHS. I do not wanna query a whole company based on one person that was a liar.

We got a call from somebody in his office later that afternoon confirming that they had ordered the part. Then, I got a next call that said the part was in and the technician could reschedule for the following morning, which was much quicker than I expected. We set a time. I've had air conditioner problems, appliance problems and water well problem, and American Home Shield pretty much every time has come through. Their claims process is good. I've never had to request reimbursement. I usually go through their service provider. I do sometimes don't like the amount of time it takes for their vendors to respond, but majority of the time, it has been good.
When there was something with the water well, I was told it was not covered. I called the person out to fix it and he works through AHS. He knew it was, and it should have been covered. It just took a lot of time for them to respond. I finally just gave up on that one, and I didn't get reimbursed for the service that I had paid for directly. But luckily, I got the person out here to fix it that usually comes when they put a call out, and he knew it was something that should have been covered, and I was given incorrect information.
I do like that they have covered things in the past, and made it easy. One time I had an electric range that went out, and it was fast. As far as anything else to improve, when you do call them, sometimes their hold times are really long. They tell you you can go online but after working all day on a computer, sometimes I just don't want to do my personal stuff online. It's the last thing I want to do when I get home.

So I have to use the auto and then I have to run it a couple of times, but I'm good with that. I don't even care at this point. If there is a part that needs to be ordered, somebody either needs to reach out via email or text message to let the customer client know that there's a delay in the repair instead of me having to pick up the phone and calling. If I had let it go two weeks, it would have gone two weeks. A week was way too long with nobody getting in touch with me. Still, I would recommend American Home Shield. Recently, I had a problem with the attic fan and the techs replaced it. The only problem I've ever had with American Home Shield is with an air conditioner and that's because instead of replacing it, they just kept replacing parts over and over again. Patching is not often the solution to something, and that seemed to be what they wanted to do. All the patching probably could have paid for another air conditioner. So I ended up replacing the AC I had and not using American Home Shield for that. I suggest that you read the fine print.

Recently, I had to have some work done on my central air conditioning units. The claims process worked easily and the tech who came was very friendly, capable and did the work. Everything works fine now, so I'm satisfied with him. On the other hand, I had some frustration with American Home Shield with one of the technicians they sent out on a different type of repair situation, but that was two years ago. Overall, I've had several repairs and the benefit with a home warranty is that if you have a major repair, you don't pay the full price for it.

I've had American Home Shield off and on for probably five years at different points in time. I used to live in California and the service there wasn't as good as it is out in Texas. The service providers that we've been dispatched out in Texas are a lot better and service-oriented. American Home Shield does a good job with what they do. There's quick turnaround and their communication's good. They have been the best of the home warranty companies we've used. We've had two other ones other than American Home Shield and we've struggled with both of them. American Home Shield is the one to go with.

Submitting a claim has always been extremely easy to do. I go online, make my request, and pay my fee upfront. Then American Home Shield always sends me an email or a text right away, telling me who's going to be my provider and who to contact. The only time I've ever had a problem was when I had my refrigerator fixed because there was only one person in town who could fix it. It took a while for the person to get out and fix my refrigerator. But overall, using American Home Shield is way easier than trying to get issues fixed on your own. It will cost you a whole lot more for plumbers and electricians than to pay the fee to American Home Shield every month.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together.

American Home Shield does what they say they do. They were prompt at getting the call over to the contractor and then I set the appointment. We had a drain stoppage a year or so ago, and a different plumber came out that time that was not nearly as good as F6. On the other hand, I highly recommend F6.

One of our air conditioning units wasn't working. American Home Shield was prompt to get connected and we had a good contractor. A tech came out and said something about the capacitor of the unit. He fixed it and so far, so good.

Something came loose and my dryer was making noise. The tension arm was broken. I put a claim online and that was okay. I usually call but it was late at night. It was easier to do the online option at night than to call at that time. An hour later, I was informed that so and so was gonna be my person. Someone from HCK place came over. He was professional and on time. HCK let me know their guy was on his way so I could be prepared. The tech took my dryer apart, and saw what the problem was. He needed to get a part so he went to his local vendor that was close by and got it there. He came back, fixed the dryer then left. The dryer is much better now and it doesn't make a lot of noise where that it's broken.

The guy who came to service my AC said something wasn't hooked up in the back. He did a little quick fix and was out for 30 minutes. Everything's been working since then. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield.

The contractor came out to work on the water heater and they said everything was good. But sometimes, the water heater doesn't work. They told me to contact them if it keeps doing it and they’ll come back and probably replace the unit. They also said that they can't just replace the water heater because of American Home Shield's policy. But when they came and checked it, they said that since the water heater had not shown anything wrong with it, they couldn’t diagnose it. But when we're in the shower for not even five minutes in, there's no hot water.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I will email you shortly as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

American Home Shield was quick on getting someone out and I appreciate that. When I'd turn the water on, it would come up through the actual spigot around the base rather than out where it's supposed to come. A plumber was scheduled to come at 4:00 and he called earlier that he was free and could he come on out, which was super fine with me. He came out, figured out what he needed, went to Lowe's, and got the part. He came back and repaired it.
Getting a little bit more explanation on things would be good. When the plumber was telling me what might happen, that he might have to replace the whole faucet, he said that American Home Shield would not replace it. Either they would go ahead and order it and it could take a week to two weeks to get it, or I could go ahead and buy it then he could come out and replace it for me for a $50 charge. Or if I let his company go ahead and order it, then it could take a week to two weeks to get it in.
My understanding was that if they couldn't fix it, American Home Shield would pay for it. They just replace it if it could not be repaired. But according to the way I understood him, if it couldn't be repaired, then the plumbing company would work with American Home Shield and get reimbursed. My brother-in-law's sister had had American Home Shield for 20 years, and as far as I know, everything that they've had to have repaired that couldn't be repaired was replaced. That was why I got American Home Shield.
I also don't like the automated system. The voice that answers the phone and get you through all the different things is so irritating. Additionally, I'm paying $70 a month and they automatically charged my Visa $100 before the rep even said she'd get somebody out. I know they have to get their pieces of pie, but it seemed a little bit presumptuous that they would automatically pay my charge. I would rather have written a check and given it to the plumber 'cause I don't necessarily want it on my charge card. There should be an option for that. They may feel that it's more convenient for me and for them to go ahead and charge it but that was a little bit unpleasant. I can understand why they're doing it though.

Our thermostat was completely shutting off for some reason. It was randomly turning back on. The contractor came out and they replaced all different kinds of things. They put in a new thermostat and it went back on track. My house is finally cold again. The contractor was professional and they were early, which I appreciated. They fixed the thermostat quickly. So they were really good. American Home Shield is affordable and I always get service within one business day, which is so awesome. Also, their website is easy to access and I like it. I submitted the claim for the thermostat at 11:00 and the contractor was there at 12:30, which is crazy. I had air by 1:30. I love American Home Shield. It's so easy to work with them and they're very punctual and professional. They always get the job finished in a timely manner. I don't have to go days without getting service.
Taking care of our members is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done.

My furnace was leaking and I found out that the drain was clogged up. The technician unhooked the drain, unclamped it good and put the new one on. And it was good to go. I called in the claim to American Home Shield and I spoke with a representative. Everything was easy and they were on top of it. I recommend AHS. I got what I paid for and more.
