    Last March, I had someone come out to do a tune-up for the summer and they charged $200. They said they need the liquid to make it cool so they came back. I had to request another order and they charged $200 again. Then, they came out and said AHS doesn't pay for Freon so I paid like $700. Then, three months later, it broke. But the last time someone came out for the air conditioner, the tech did good. They put in Freon and said that the motor was burned out. Everything worked great after the repair. But I have a request for my ice maker and I requested that in June. Mr. Appliance called me and scheduled but they never came. I called AHS about it and they said the tech is a subcontractor and would come when he feels like it. It has been going on since June. That's ridiculous. They said they can come tomorrow. I hope they come.

    Recently our AC went out. The contractor came out the next day. There was a little electrical fire inside of the box. So, the contractor just replaced some wires, and it was up and running again. I like having hassle-free fixes. We've had other repairs in the past and we were very satisfied with them. American Home Shield was very customer service oriented and I've been very happy with them.

    I submitted a claim with AHS when the air conditioning wasn't working. The capacitator was down. But it took a while to get them out here. But it's the way we live. Everyone's booked up and there are shortages of personnel. But, the actual claims process was easy and setting up the appointment was good. We also had an excellent experience with the contractor. They got it resolved the first time.

    I paid for nothing for my garbage disposal. It just needed to be reset underneath and the man came out. Then my two doorbells were not working and he said that those would have to be changed, but I didn't understand why he didn't do that. He could have said that he'd be back to change it. That's gonna make me pay again when a person comes out.

    Now, I'm waiting for the tech to come. He called me one time and said that he has never been in my area. I told him the only day I won't be here is August 5th because I have an appointment. He said he will contact me back this week. Hopefully, I hear from him soon because I'm done paying for the service and I would like for him to fix it. I need it because people come to my home, and I could be in the basement, and they don't knock. They just think the doorbell works, and they think I'm not home. My husband also needs it because he would be picked up by ambulance service. He is on dialysis and when they come for him, I'll just put a note out to let them know. Nonetheless, Home Shield always did me right. I've always been pleased with them.

    I'm very happy with the service and I tell my relatives what a good service American Home Shied has. The technician that came out recently was very prompt and thorough. He spent a lot of time on my dryer which is 20 plus years old. He came up with three items that needed to be replaced. Also, I told him that not only was the heating not working correctly, but when it was turning, it was screeching. He couldn't get the screech. He’s an older tech and he seems very knowledgeable. When he came back, he put the parts in the dryer and it heated up. He ran the dryer with no clothes in it and there was no noise. My son living with me is the one who uses that dryer and he started one load of drying. The next load he put in, it started screeching again when it turned. I informed the technician and he said, “I’ll go back to you guys. We have to reopen it again.” He's coming tomorrow to take a look and analyze the problem.

    I used American Home Shield this week for my AC unit. The technician’s name was Israel, and he did a very good job. He was on time. He checked the air conditioner out, found out what was wrong with it and fixed it. I've had American Home Shield for over 30 years and when I call, I know I'm going to get someone that's qualified to work on whatever is not working. I've used the service for air conditioning, washing machine lid, refrigerator, garage door, and doorbell. Once in a while, I have gotten someone who tried to charge me more than I should have been charged or someone out that I didn't particularly care for. I didn't like their manner. I'm almost 79 so I have to be careful.

    My washing machine keeps leaking and we've had the repair company Moonstar out five times this year. The last time they came out was the 27th of June. The service people fix the washing machine and 32 days later, it's leaking again and making a lot of loud noises. I called American Home Shield a couple of days ago to tell them the washing machine is leaking. They said, "I feel awful that your washing machine is leaking. I hear your frustration. I would be frustrated as well. So, can I take your debit card? And we will have them come out again." I said no. I'm a little upset.

    We used American Home Shield in other situations and it has been beneficial and cost-effective. But I'm not happy with them right now. I didn't realize that there was a 30-day strict cut-off. There should be a little flexibility on that. I called on Monday and probably would have called over this weekend because the issue has been happening for a few days. There was nothing they could do. Their only answer was that I have to pay $100 for another service fee and have service people come out again. That's $500 this year just on this washer. I can't pay $100 to have people come out to fix the washer for just four weeks. There wasn't a solution.

    I called AHS and told them that I was not working. I lost my job because of my sickness so I'm trying to get a disability. I tried to compromise with them to give me a lower rate or a lower package they could do for me and they told me that they couldn't. And I've been a client for so many years. Also, I was paying like 68 and now I pay 70 something. But the experience with AHS has been fine. I've had a few claims all the years that I've had them and that's a good benefit.

    My garbage disposal was leaking, and I called on a Monday, but because I was at work, I was not available till Friday. They had an appointment that Friday and the repair man came. He was very prompt, and he ended up replacing my garbage disposal. It was great. I've had other repairs done through American Home Shield ​as well and I've been very satisfied.     My air wouldn't get cold upstairs nor downstairs. The first man came in and he didn't come in. He just went outside. He did not really check anything. He just said that something wasn’t working out there and so he did something. But it never got cool. I had called in and another man came out. The other man came in the house and he had the little thing to check and he checked the filters. He made sure everything was supposed to be like it’s supposed to be. He said he could clean it the best he can. He said, “Other than that, you have to take it all out and put all the antifreeze back in. Since it's upstairs, it's gonna take a lot of antifreeze.” His cleaning didn’t do any good. It really needs a new one ‘cause it's rusted out. I'm okay with AHS. It's just that I'm having that issue and it's not getting resolved. I called back again today to let them know that it's really not yet cool in there.

    We had something going on with our pool pump and the guy from Fox Pools fixed it. The contractor was great. The only complaint we've had with AHS up to this point was when our water heater went out. We were without hot water for three and a half weeks. That part was really frustrating. The whole process was a lot of he said and she said kind of stuff, dealing with AHS to order the part and then us dealing with the plumbing company. We almost canceled AHS. But the guys who did the work, Price Right Plumbing, did a good job.

    I went with American Home Shield because they're reliable and their rate was affordable. It’s 500 bucks for the plan I'm on now. And it pretty much covers everything I needed to for the most part. The AC unit was pumping air into the house. It wasn't cold air. So, the house was just very hot. When Reep's came out, they were able to get here to my home quickly. It was within three business days of me submitting the request to American Home Shield. They quickly identified the issue. And they were able to put more of the refrigerant liquid into my AC unit, which immediately resolved the problem that I was having. So now, my house is able to stay cool and I'm not having that issue anymore at this point.

    I submitted a request to AHS earlier this year for a plumbing issue that I had. And the provider that they sent out that serviced my area did a very poor job. And the service was horrible. I don't know if there's a way for them to go through some sort of vetting process through the vendors that serve some of the more rural areas, We’re much less populated than city areas where there are more vendors available. Other than that, they've done a great job. They've been very quick. And I pretty much call them and go over stuff. I've had to do that when I was going through all the plumbing stuff. I had to call several times because those guys weren't coming out here when they said they would. And American Home Shield would always give them a call immediately and expedite things for me as best they could. Do your research beforehand and look at the reviews.

    We've been struggling with the dryer, and the person that came out was from J & A Appliances and he was absolutely horrible. He would just come in two seconds, look at it, say he was gonna order some parts, and then come back, replace it and leave. I would call him to follow up and tell him that things were not working properly. We had been dealing with this forever. It has been like a nightmare. American Home Shield should definitely not contract with J & A. If you read the reviews online, there are tons of customers complaining about their tech. He's so unprofessional.

    We also had another claim and Garrett's came out the other day. They cleaned it up, did whatever they had to do and told us that we had to buy the vent. So, we're just waiting on the vent. They were very professional. They were on time. They did explain everything to me. They kind of let me know what was happening. They told me to replace that vent, and if I still had issues, I should give them a call.

    American Home Shield is terrible. They have not been helpful at all. When I first moved into my new home, there was a shower leak. I reported it to them and requested a service call. It took forever, like a month, for them to get a plumber to me. They would assign a plumber and they wouldn't come. I had to make so many phone calls to get a plumber to my house, and they reassigned the claim to someone else. A plumber finally came out and said that there was a problem, that there was a screw that was rusted in there or something that he was going to have to go back and talk to his boss and talk to American Home Shield about what could be done. They came back and told me that because the screw wasn't protected, they couldn't fix it. It wasn't going to be on American Home Shield. There was a missing part and that it was supposed to be covered.

    I hired my own plumber at that point because I was tired of dealing with American Home Shield. I bought a brand new handle faucet to go on there. He said that there is no cover over that screw even on a brand new faucet. I reported that back to American Home Shield too, that the plumber told me that with the brand new one, there's not a covering over that so there was no missing part. I pretty much had it with them after that.

    I did have to do another report with American Home Shield because my central air went out, and I wasn't pleased with them on that coverage either. Summer at Southeast Texas is extremely hot. I put the claim in on a Friday night, and I had to wait till Wednesday to just get a technician out. The technician they assigned me came from Houston, which is two hours away from here. That was a pretty long time to have to wait when you have no air in the heat of the summer. But he came out and told me that pretty much, my compressor was out and I needed a new unit. But he said that American Home Shield was not going to do anything but give me $1,000 dollars toward a new compressor. He said that wouldn't even pay for the compressor.

    Those have been my two claims, and they both have not been satisfactory at all. Also, on that first one, I called American Home Shield so many times, talked to so many foreigners and never got any results. With this claim, I just went with the recommendation of the serviceman and haven't messed with calling American Home Shield back at all. I don't recommend it for anybody. It's a waste of time and money.

    The air conditioning unit wasn't blowing cold air and the fan wasn't moving. I called American Home Shield and they were helpful. They told me who was coming out but I was a little concerned about the time and when they might come. The American Home Shield rep told me if I wasn't satisfied with them, they can try to get me somebody else if they feel like can't get in a timely manner. They worked with me. I wanted a company that was open 24/7 and somebody that we could get right there. So the rep changed it. The company that came out was straight and professional. They did what they got to do. They had to put a part in the air conditioning unit. Everything is good now. All my experiences with American Home Shield have been good. Every time I call to get something fixed, I've been able to get it fixed.

    We had called AHS because the air conditioner wasn't blowing. All of a sudden, it started again so I cancelled. A week later, I called them because it had flooded out my kitchen and laundry room. When Chesapeake Comfort came, there was nothing wrong with it. They told me that what had happened was the week before, we were having a terrible heatwave, and it had frozen up. Then it thawed out a week later and flooded everything out.

    It was strange, though, because the first thing the technician said to me was, “So you're trying to get a new system on the warranty?” I was not pleased at all with that comment. I told him I was not trying to get a new system with the warranty. We have a warranty because it's expensive to replace a system and we want to make sure we're up to date, keeping repairs and parts. It's $12,000 to get a new freaking system. He said, “You're better off saving the money you spend on the warranty, to have that money go towards a new system because you're gonna have to get a new system eventually. There's no way your warranty will ever pay for a new system. They'll just nickel and dime you. This part or that part will be need to be replaced, and they'll never get you a new system.” I told him I don't care about a new system. I just wanted to make sure the thing works.

    He could not find anything wrong with the system except that it was old. He checked for leaks in the coils. He checked the drain but couldn't find anything wrong with it except for the fact that we don't have a sensor if the drip pan overflows. I'm seriously looking into what in the world to do at this point. We have friends who are in the same community, and they have AHS the same way we do. They don't have it for appliances, they have it for the main systems. They did have a problem and got a new system two years ago. They had to come out of pocket for freon and other things that were not covered.

    We're just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean. We have the heat waves like everybody else in the Mid Atlantic. Then it gets really cold. We need the system to work. American Home Shield needs to find somebody that's closer or maybe who’s not as overwhelmed with business. We waited four days until Chesapeake Comfort could come out. I wouldn't be happy about that with 110 heat index. There are plenty of places that they can look into to have service for this area rather than 90 minutes away and having a very large area and a lot of customers.

    The AC stopped cooling and the guy was able to do the repair from outside the home, so he didn't even need to get in. It was the fuse for the condenser and now, the AC is cooling fine. The guy was very good and accommodating. He told me to let him know if I have any follow up questions or issues and gave me his cell phone number. I just started with American Home Shield on this home but I have another home that I have them now for three years. I like that I can do the claims online. I don’t need to talk to anybody and it goes quick.

    It's been a few years that we've been with American Home Shield and I do tell friends about them. It's the best deal going and will protect them all the way around. It's extremely convenient to have it because it's a matter of just opening a ticket, paying your share of the fee then somebody shows up and takes care of the problem. When we had the exhaust fan in the bathroom go out, a repairman came and replaced it. He had everything he needed with him.

    The condensate line of our AC was stopped up. I made a phone call to American Home Shield, talked to a young lady, and explained to her what happened. She did everything and she gave me all the information and the number that I needed. The tech who came spent less than half an hour doing the work and everything is perfect now. I'm comfortable that I have my home warranty. If something bad happens, all I have to do is make a phone call. I'm not worried about having to look for people. Somebody’s gonna call us.     The fridge was not cooling and it wasn’t making ice in the icemaker. The contractor got it where the refrigerator was cooling, but they still got to come back out and do something about the icemaker. The biggest problem is sometimes the claim is dragged out a long time you had to do without the refrigeration. It's slow getting the people out. Maybe American Home Shield just uses two or three people.

    I had a relatively new refrigerator and the ice maker wasn't working. When a technician came, it turned out that the ice maker was frozen solid so he had to spend quite a while with some sort of machine defrosting it. When he did that and got it out, he was finally able to figure out what the problem was. A line was broken or a part that monitors the water coming into the ice machine needed something. It was on a Tuesday that the technician came. He had to order the part then he came back on a Thursday and put it in. Everything was working after that. The technician was awesome. He was very nice and informative. He was very respectful in general and he cleaned up after himself. I was 100% pleased with everything.

    I'm glad I did American Home Shield. The appliances were new in my home but being that it was purchased a year before and nobody left any kind of warranty information, I didn't have anything to follow up on as far as getting somebody to come to the house and take care of things. I recently recommended the home warranty to a friend who also just bought a home.

    We had an icemaker that was freezing up. It was very quick getting the service scheduled. The tech came out and he was there about five minutes and said the icemaker needed to be replaced. When they got the icemaker, they called us and made an appointment. Then they came out and they were there for 10 minutes, changed it out and left. It works fine. Making a claim to American Home Shield is not too bad. But they drop the ball when you have to talk to a live person if you have an issue with a claim. Their personal customer service is not very good. It used to be a lot better. The reps don't seem to be able to make decisions. You can't talk to anybody that is in authority. Other than that, I'm a very satisfied customer. We've had many claims with many homes over the years, and we've had very good luck with American Home Shield.

    On our basement faucet in the shower, the faucet was broken off. The techs from Prescott were able to fix it so now we're able to get hot and cold water instead of just one. Upstairs, they were also able to change out one of our faucets in the bathtub because that was one temperature. But with the claims process, I would really like it if I could talk to a real person instead of just computerized. I don't even know if I did it correctly 'cause I was only charged $75 and the tech ended up fixing both of my issues with no problem. Also, I wish I could pick the people coming 'cause I really liked Prescott plumbing. They were the best contractor that's ever helped us.

    I would definitely get a home warranty. It has helped us out a lot. The only thing is our air conditioner is pretty bad, but AHS guys will not help us buy a new one until the compressor is completely shot. We're paying a lot of money a month for the air conditioning because it's not cooling the house like it should which is a bummer.

    My refrigerator went out in January. AHS got me a service company to come out and work on it. That service company came out with a technician that really didn't know what he was doing. That technician ordered a new compressor for the refrigerator. It took three weeks to get the compressor in. After that, he installed the compressor. He said, “I've got it all running. It's gonna take a couple of hours for it to cool down the refrigerator, but you should be good. Call me if it's not working right in a couple of hours.” After a couple of hours, I went in there. The temperature in the fridge was still 70 degrees. It hadn’t moved one bit. So, I called him. He didn't answer. I called his company. They didn't answer.

    Finally, they answered and said, “The service technician called off sick and he's gone home for the day.” I said, “Who are you gonna have come out here and look at this?” They said, they would have to get back to me. Needless to say, that was that guy's last day. He quit. Then they finally sent out another technician. The next technician came out and said, “I think it's the motherboard ‘cause you were not getting electrical power go to the compressor.”

    They got back with American Home Shield, and they decided they were going to repair the motherboard. They took the board out, sent it out to get repaired. Took about a month. I've been out without a refrigerator for seven weeks at this point. They got that board back in. They came out and installed it. Every time, it was somebody different. They came out and installed it. But it didn't work. Then they said, “We're gonna have to get an inverter board.” They ordered an inverter board. This took a couple of weeks.

    Meantime, I was on phone calls with the repair company. They were telling me that the inverter board had been received into their warehouse, but because of their COVID procedures, it was gonna take a couple of days for it to get through receiving and be brought into the distribution spot so they can get it to their technician. I waited a couple of days. But I didn't hear anything from them.

    At this point, I was getting really frustrated, so I decided to look up this company and find out where they are. I was gonna go talk to them. I found their address and it's a little shack. I walked up to the front door. It’s one of these rental buildings and it's no more than 500 square feet. There were three women in there, doors wide open, fan blowing in the doors because they had no air conditioning. There were parts scattered throughout everywhere. This is their call center, these three women.

    I said hi to them and they all dropped their jaw. They said, “How can I help you?” I was looking at their inventory, COVID procedures right in front of me. I said, “I wanna know who the technician is and where the inverter board is, ‘cause you say you have it. Let's get a technician to my house today.” They scrambled and got that done. They got a technician come out there, got it installed. But it didn't solve the problem. Then I said, “We're gonna have somebody in your company figure out how to solve this problem.”

    In the meantime, they'd already closed the claim with American Home Shield. But it was incomplete. I contacted American Home Shield, told them about the problem but got nowhere. Then I went back to this company and said, “I need the right technician.” They said, “We don't have the right technician.” So, they hired a contractor that they use, their troubleshooter.

    This guy came out and he worked on it for three hours. One of the biggest problems he had was getting this system to take in the Freon. After four hours, he said, “I got it.” And the temperatures were coming down. Everything was good. I trusted the guy to get it done. The refrigerator worked for two months but then it went out again.

    In June, I got back with American Home Shield, put in another claim. They sent out a new company and this guy showed up and said to me, “Oh, it's a GE Monogram. We don't like to work on those.” He had no tools. He looked at it. I told him the history. He said, “I think we're just gonna write this up as a full replacement.” I said, “No, you're not, ‘cause that doesn't work for me. ‘Cause my replacement value is $3,000, and this is a $15,000 refrigerator. That does nothing for me.” He said, “We really just don't like working on these and everything you told me says this is a piece of junk.”

    I said, “No, it's not. It's a very expensive refrigerator that has a long life expectancy. Something's wrong. Let's figure out. Go get your gauges. Let's check pressures.” He said, “I don't have any gauges.” I said, “Let's get the technician in your company that does.” I said, “How many technicians you got?” He said, “Five.” I said, “How many of them have gauges?” He said, “I think one of them does.” He said, “Let me get with the sales guy. And we'll get that one guy out here.” The guy left. They closed out the ticket with American Home Shield and ran, never called me back.

    I got back with American Home Shield. They said, “We'll send it back out to another company.” The next thing I know, I got a phone call from a girl named Jordan. And this name sounded familiar. It was the first company that I started with. I said, “Jordan, we've been through this once before. I don't think this is gonna work. I’m gonna get back with American Home Shield and reject you guys and have them get me somebody else.”

    I got now company number three, All Home Appliance. They called me. They were very professional. I told them my story and said, “Yeah. We've often followed those other two companies because they don't have service technicians. We have technicians. We know what we're doing.” They came out and were very helpful. They ended up just recently replacing the compressor, the condenser, the fan. The tech came back out yesterday. He got it all installed on Friday.

    The refrigerator was still not quite working right though. He thought the motherboard, which was repaired. He said, “I don't know why they repaired the motherboard. These are commercially available boards.” He said, “They're $210 apiece. I don't know why you went four weeks without a refrigerator waiting on the motherboard to be repaired.” He said, “Nobody repairs motherboards.” He went back to American Home Shield and requested a replacement of the motherboard ‘cause there's a voltage problem with the fan and it's coming from the motherboard.

    I had another problem with another appliance, and it was the same thing. The guy came out, had no tools. He looked at the model number. I had a built-in microwave oven setup. He said, “I'm gonna write it up as a replacement.” I was okay with that because its cost was underneath the number of the replacement value. So, I would get a full replacement.

    That took about two months because the item wasn't available internally. I said, “Wait a minute. It's right down the street at Best Buy. They have the exact one available.” They said, “We can give you a credit toward that. But the credit is only $700.” I said, “It’s a $1,900 microwave.” They said, “Yeah. But we can buy it for 1,000.” I said, "But you don't have it and you can’t guarantee me when you'll get it.” They said, “Yeah. But that's all we can get. It’s either that or you take the $700 credit.” So, I waited and finally got it and it works fine. It’s been hit-and-miss for sure.

    I had 2-10 Home Warranty when I bought my house. Then after that expired, I switched over to American Home Shield. It's my second year now with them. The quality of contractors is much better with AHS, and the ability to reach out to American Home Shield is a lot easier than it was with 2-0. However, it would be nice if there was a chat feature on the website, like once you are logged in. The one thing I noticed was that when I would call back, I had to re-explain what the situation was each time. Then they'd have to put me on hold for a couple of minutes and then read the notes. So that was just one of the issues, but wasn’t pressing. I got everything worked out. For my recent claim, I had issues with the first company that was assigned to me. I had to have another follow-up call, and there was another issue. But when I talked to the scheduler, she got me assigned to a new company. So that was really good.

    The pressure relief valve was not working properly, so there was no water going into the house. I called the number and said we weren't getting any water in the house. The techs replaced that and reconfigured something with the connection, and they got that fixed. And within an hour, it was all done. They did a good service.

    I used ASAP Plumbing two years ago in June and July because two of my toilets were leaking from the bottom and they had to replace the flange. And then, I needed an expansion tank. It's this tank that's connected to the top of the water heater to regulate the hot water. I requested ASAP because I used them before and I like their service. Having certified experienced people to check, other than getting your neighbor to come over or a handyman, is a benefit. That's why I like having American Home Shield, because the contractors are all vetted people, they're professionals and trained.

    My AC was broken in the second floor. I requested for the company that came out before for the downstairs AC. They came on a Monday and fixed it. They were very punctual and honest. This claim was good. But I have one other issue with AHS that I'm dealing with right now. I have placed a claim for a washer and the dryer. A guy from Rusty's came out and he was so rude in the house. It seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. He ran the washer, and then he was repairing the dryer. He said there was nothing wrong with the dryer, but he cleaned the lint and he collected money from us.

    I called AHS saying that I don't like this contractor, because it seems like he was not even knowing what he was doing and I was not comfortable with him. For example, he asked me where the breaker was and I told him it is in the garage. He said, “Okay, can you go turn it on?” So I went and somehow figured it out, and I did it. Then he said, “Can you go turn it off?” It was like he was not doing the job, but I'm doing the job. So I asked AHS to switch the vendor and they said they couldn't do that. Two and a half weeks later, the guy called us, but unfortunately, I was not available on the phone. Exactly 15 minutes later, I called him, and he said, “Ma’am, I cannot come back to your home because I’m going to a different job.”

    Usually, what happens with AHS is I get a text. Like for example, All Around Home, I get a text or an email saying that the person is enroute, and he’ll be there in half an hour. So when he called and left a message, I thought that's what happened because that's how it has been happening since the beginning. Also, when I called him back, he said, “I cannot turn around and come back for you. I’m already enroute to my other job. And you should answer your phone. You should keep your answer, that’s why you have the phone near by you.” I asked him, “Will you come today?” He said, “No, I have two more. I will see if I can come. Otherwise, I will come next week.”

    This is the third week since the washer is not working. So I called AHS, and the lady said, “Sorry, ma'am, we cannot do anything. Because we have to transfer the claim, and you have to pay another 75.” At that point, I said, “Okay, I'll pay for the 75. But can I talk to a manager? Because I need to explain what happened and why I'm so mad. Because he was so rude to me, right?” She said, “No, ma'am, you cannot talk to her manager.” I asked her why and she said, “According to our policy, this is what we need to do. And they will not say anything different. So at this point, I'm telling you to just go with Rusty's and maybe he will come to you, and then you can fix it. And next time, we will put a ‘do not give this contractor to you.’” But I told her that I don't want him in the house.

    After insisting that I need to talk to a manager, she finally said, “I’ll put a claim. But even if I put a claim, we don’t know if they’re gonna call you or not. It’s not gonna be a legitimate call.” I told her, “I’m an AHS customer since so many years. Don’t I have a right to talk to a manager about my experience? And you’re putting me in a difficult situation also with this person who I don't want him to come.” After that, I called another person because my husband was so mad. He also said he will escalate the situation and send a note to the management. Nobody has called me yet. But in their defense, they said it might be 48 hours.

They replaced the whole piping system because the old one was rotten through and it was leaking all over the place. Everything was covered by AHS. I like that the job gets done and covered. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes when I get on the phone, it's a long time till I get through to anybody. Also, there was one time I didn't like the people AHS sent out.     My claim recently was put in for a thermostat issue on my air conditioning and heating system. A contractor came out within an hour. I couldn't believe it. They fixed the problem and were gone within an hour, too. They happened to have the right part on the truck. The past claim that I had, American Home Shield sent out a contractor here that tried to rip me off. I called American Home Shield and told them what the issue was. They immediately signed another contractor to resolve the situation, which they did. I told them never to use that contractor again.

    I've had other issues with heating contractors in general. They seem to be out there to make a buck. They don't want to fix things. They want to replace things especially if they see a unit that may be older. But so far, with American Home Shield, I've been pleased with them. The only thing is I can't use their automatic call in. I've had this happen with them twice where they would send somebody 40, 50 miles away from me, in another county, to do a service call. I’d rather deal with somebody who is operating in my local area but American Home Shield doesn't look at where I am. They take the first available contractor that will take the call and send them out. So I call them and tell them, “I want to use this contractor. Are they approved on your list?” Than they will tell me yay or nay and we'll go down their list and figure out who I would accept to come in to service my unit.

    Our air was not cooling and when I put the claim in, Advanced Heating came out the next day. They had to come out twice. The first time, they told me that someone left the cap loose and that the Freon leaked out. They put more Freon in and that lasted six days. Advanced Heating had to come back out a second time, and an older guy came. Within 15 minutes, he knew and said that there was a condenser coil that had a crease where the copper and aluminum crossed and the Freon leaked out then. A part was ordered, but I got a unit. With COVID going on, you're at the mercy of others as far as getting parts, so I expected to be without air for at least a week or so. Advanced Heating was prompt and they did things in a timely manner.

    When I first did this claim online, the system kept giving me an address that was different from mine, so I had to call in. On the phone, I have to be on hold to talk to different representatives, but sometimes I'll get bounced around and the problem doesn't get resolved. With this call, I was really appreciative that everything was accurate. I already gave two people American Home Shield’s number. This is something people definitely need to spend a few extra dollars on.

    The compressor went out on the AC and the contractor, Cool Blew, had to order it and get it in. As far as Cool Blew was concerned, it wasn't an issue. The waiting period was probably the most annoying part because you gotta wait. But as soon as it was okayed, they were out there in three days. They did their job and they were awesome. American Home Shield did what they said they were gonna do. I'm a facilities manager, so I understand that getting products or parts is difficult right now and it took a little bit. But overall, it was a great experience and we were happy.

    Sometimes it's like pulling teeth to try to get American Home Shield to work with me. They sent a technician out for a refrigerator that ended up costing me $1,500 and with no refund or help. He came out three times. One of the times was with the new part to put in. Each time that he left, he left with the understanding that it was going to work. He left it plugged in but it would not cool down. The third time he came out and I told him it was not working, he said, "I will let American Home Shield know that it is not able to be fixed.” This was in the heat of the summer. I was living out of ice chests for five weeks, trying to get this stinking thing fixed.

    On that day, I ordered a refrigerator with the knowledge that that's how American Home Shield worked. I would do the cash out. There were countless phone calls. There was supposed to have been a supervisor that was going to call me but that never did happen. American Home Shield could care less because it wasn't them that had to put the money out. They had told me it was because they had sent out another contractor. When I found out that they were emailing me and sending out another contractor, I had called American Home Shield and gotten ahold of somebody who understood. I said, “Don't send out another contractor. This contractor told me that he was reporting to American Home Shield it could not be fixed.” American Home Shield wiggled out of it and I was not appreciating that. The refrigerator was a huge disappointment. They did not do the cash out.

    When my contract comes up, that's something I've got to think about because that's not the way to do business. Sometimes, you'll call and get somebody outsourced and so it's difficult. I pay my $75 a month on time and American Home Shield take sit out automatically. I'm paying my end of it but they let me down on their end. It shouldn't take but one contractor. American Home Shield should be confident in who they send out. If the contractor cannot do it and contractor tells the customer, “I am reporting to American Home Shield I cannot fix it,” and that's what the customer goes off, American Home Shield should live up to their end of the contract.

    I had an electrical issue with my air conditioner unit. I reported it through American Home Shield's website to have somebody come out and look at it. I hate the website because there was no way to describe what the issue was. The issues listed didn't match what I was able to describe, and I don't call because the phones are irritating. I just go online and figure, “Well, the vendor will call me and I'll tell him what it is.” When I file claims, I get an email confirming that the contractor has been given my information and my card has been charged for the fee. Then the vendor calls me the next day. As far as the AC unit, it needed a new whip. It's the power cord between my air conditioning unit and where it plugs into the actual power. It had a breakage, and it was a fire-risk. I’m perfectly satisfied with the warranty company, and I've never had an issue with the vendors here.

    It's hit or miss with some of the contractors with American Home Shield. Some of them don't have the best reviews. When they come into the home, it's not the greatest service. They are kind of whinny, and you could tell they don't want to do the job. One of them accused me or my wife of breaking a product. The American Home Shield supervisor sent out a new company and these people were fantastic. They said they could fix the issue in about an hour or less while the other company was saying we were gonna have to cut open all of it.

    I've had the hot water heater go as well as my garage door and the companies for those claims were good. On the garage door claim, one side of the garage door spring broke. A repairman came out and took care of it. He told me that typically, when one goes, the other one's gonna go very shortly thereafter but he couldn't do anything until that one goes. It could be a week, a month, or a year. It would have been nice if they did one side to do the other. But that's more of a coverage thing, and I get it. The deductible is a little bit high and American Home Shield raised the rates pretty decently from last year to this year. It went up about $200. But I keep them based on the fact that once that air conditioner goes, God only knows what that's going to be so I'd rather pay a little each year.

    Chesapeake came out this week to repair my refrigerator and the freezer because it wasn't cold and it wasn't freezing. The technician called to say he was on his way and I told him I had unplugged the refrigerator. He asked if I left the doors open and I said no. I did leave the door open on the freezer. When he came, there was still ice on the element at the back of where the freezer compartment is. So he worked on it and he told me to plug it back in and to put a bottle of water in the freezer. Once the water was frozen solid, it was okay to put my food and stuff back in there. But the bottle of water is still not frozen. When I called back yesterday to Chesapeake and I said, "Look, the gentleman was here. Am I doing something wrong? Because the water never froze. It's still liquid." The ice packs that you can put in a cooler are still loose too. So, my food was wasted and I've had to throw food out.

    I left Chesapeake two messages but they never called me back. Then yesterday, I called, and their voice mailbox was full, so I couldn't leave a message. I called American Home Shield again to say, "Okay, what's going on? By now, anything should be frozen in there." Chesapeake did not fix the problem. So the rep said, "Okay, well, let me reach out to them, contact them."

    Chesapeake claimed that they called my residence at 8:54 yesterday morning. However, they didn't leave a message and there was no indication that a call came in from Chesapeake. So then, I called back to American Home Shield yesterday afternoon and they said, "Well, call back tomorrow," because it was after 6:00 when I called them, just seeing if Chesapeake was going to call me during the work hours. But they didn't. American Home Shield told me, "Call back during the work hours. And if you don't hear anything, call us back." That was when I got the game being played this morning with American Home Shield. Now, I continue to call.

    American Home Shield called me back and I told them that I called Chesapeake and I left another message with them but I did not hear back from them. So the rep said that she contacted them and they said they will be back in touch with me today, so be close to my phone. So, I've been close to my phone. The reps that I've dealt with at American Home Shield always seemed to be very polite and they tried to work with me and they are apologetic about my appliance being broken. However, this morning, I called three times before 8:30, and each time I called, the call would be disconnected. Some kind of way, I would get the recording saying, "All representatives are dealing with someone else..."

    A friend of mine told me that American Home Shield was sold to another company, and ever since the new company bought American Home Shield, their service has gone down. Now, you're getting a lot of Asian people answering the phone, where before when it was under the old American Home Shield, you would have to wait on the phone, you'd be on hold forever and ever. You would not necessarily every call get an Asian woman answering the phone. So, that's another thing that perked my interest. I thought, "Am I talking to the same person?" No, it's different people and they give you American names, but they're all Asians that answer the call. The wait time doesn't appear to be as long as it was under the old American Home Shield.

    Last year, I had an issue with the same refrigerator. I called American Home Shield and the first guy from Chesapeake that came was Bryan. He was very nice and he fixed the problem. The second technician that came out was a different guy, but his name was Bryan as well. He said he had been here before. So, that got my mind thinking he was one of the ones that did the exact same thing that they're doing to me now a year or so ago. They came to my home, they got the $75 payment, and they would not come back to fix the problem. I had to call through the new American Home Shield, and continue to call back and request. I demanded to American Home Shield that if they were not going to fix my refrigerator, they need to replace it because that's their warranty. Instead of doing that, they sent another technician. That technician didn't solve the problem. So then, the third technician came out and he was the one that fixed it. He worked hard.

    I've been with American Home Shield for about 15 years and I am at the point of cancelling out my warranty with them because the service is not as good as it used to be. Their service has definitely declined. It's not as good as it used to be. They hurry up and assign you someone. However, they keep passing you off to the same guy.

    I've got a rental property and it was the drain line that was messed up in it. It looked like the drain might need to be replaced. The first time a technician came out, he didn't do anything. He didn't even turn the unit on. I had to tell him to turn it on. He kind of Jerry-rigged the drain line, which is some kind of a lie. He said everything was okay. We turned the unit back on and it started leaking again.

    I called American Home Shield back the next day. They had already taken out the $100 deposit they normally take out, which I also asked could they send me an email and I'd authorize it. The second guy came out and said the drain lines and the drain pan needed to be replaced. American Home Shield took out another $100 when they weren't supposed to because it was for the same service. I called them and wanted to know what the status is. The air conditioner is off because it's continued to put water in the drip pan and it's leaking through the ceiling. Also, for my home, it took two months and a half to replace the air conditioner and this was in the middle of the summer. American Home Shield didn't want to fix it or replace it like they state. They just wanted to put a band-aid on it then move on. I'm not satisfied at all. As a matter of fact, depending on how this recent claim will come out, I'm probably going to cancel it.

    At first, I was a little disappointed with American Home Shield. This is not my first contract. I had several homes in Jersey and the fees went up considerably.     The refrigerator wasn’t staying cold at all. It was fairly easy to submit the claim. I told American Home Shield what the problem was and they sent out a worker. The tech put a part in it but it didn’t last and I lost food. I just got the new refrigerator this morning and I got something close to what exactly I had. The only thing is that the handle is not on the refrigerator to open the door. There are only two screws and the handle didn’t come. So I called up Best Buy where I got it, and the handle is $160 more. So I got to call American Home Shield and find out what they're going to do with that.

    We had a fairly new sink installed in April and it was leaking. It turns out that the person who installed it hadn't tightened some screws. So, the guy from T Mayes Plumbing came in, immediately assessed the situation and fixed it. He tested it and stayed long enough to test to make sure it was done. He was in and out in 10 minutes. He was great. We have another ticket open with American Home Shield for the microwave and we’re supposed to hear back from them but I haven't.     We’ve used American Home Shield several times and this time, we had problems. FTA Services at least came out to look and see what was wrong but Wright Appliance never even came out, which was part of the problem. It took forever waiting for parts and I made three payments and that was more than what the part was. The cash-out offer was $157, which was ridiculous and we got the runaround. They dragged their feet on it. It took forever to talk to somebody that spoke good English and who would even help us. When this started out three months ago, you can't even talk to somebody. It took a lot of talking on my part to get a phone number or anybody that could tell me something that wasn't scripted. All I kept getting was, “I'm sorry.” They never called and I had to call every time, which was annoying.

    I have a stackable washing machine and it doesn't cycle. It's not even that old. It's a Sears and it's a good one. I called AHS. They sent Sears out and the guy just came in and looked at it and said, “There's nothing wrong with it. You just have to balance your clothes.” I said, “I'm not that stupid.” So, they sent another Sears guy out. Apparently, he just said the same thing the other guy said.

    I asked for a different company. They sent this other guy out here and said, “I don't work on Saturdays and I'm just coming as a favor and I got another client. I don't have time to sit here and watch this thing to see if it's gonna work or not.” He just left and he told them I put him out. That was not true. We have a nice home and we asked him not to park in our driveway ‘cause his truck leaks oil. He got mad and left. They had them come out again and my washing machine still doesn't work. He said the other day, “We'll just get a dial for it.” I thought, “He's really not into this.”

    With the other incident with the air conditioning, the guy was really nice. He worked really hard. The air condition exploded because it was so hot out here. He fixed it. But then, it hasn't been a week and we smelled something burning outside a couple of days ago, and it blew up again. It doesn't even come on. Whoever I spoke to last night said they were gonna send a senior tech. I could understand the air condition thing. The guy did the best he could. But on this washing machine, they just don’t want to fix it and I don't understand why. I thought that's why I was buying this warranty service so that when something happened, I'd be protected. But this is the worst experience I've ever had.

    Our air conditioner stopped working. We called AHS. Then AHS called the company, and they came out and diagnosed it was the air conditioner was froze up. So they told me what to do so that I could shut off and they could work on it. That way there was no delay. They were very helpful there. Then they charged it, diagnosed it and found the leak in the coil. Then came back a few days later to do the coil once it was done. They put a new coil in and it was off in the morning. They came out early in the morning so that it was not off for the heat of the day, too, so that was nice. Everything's working after that. I was very happy with everything.

    The two guys with All Comfort Specialist were timely. They identified what we thought the issue was and went right to it. They kept me informed of what they were doing and finished it up. The capacitor was supposedly the issue on the system. We've had that problem with that system before. They told us that they do blow, especially if they're running a lot in the heat. They checked the freon level on both systems and kind of looked to make sure the other one was running normally. The other thing I asked them to do was to check on one of the rooms in our house that doesn't seem too cool. They shone a light into the vent to make sure they were blowing properly. But right after they left, my son said it was still doing it. I don't know if the venting is proper or not, but it still seems to still overheat.

    I'm not super happy with AHS mostly because of the policies and you find out that you don't have certain coverage at the last second. We just did another claim this week. My garage door spring broke. If we had known we didn't have the coverage, there would be no need to call AHS. But we spent extra money on AHS for the vendor to come out and tell us that we're not covered. I still had to pay $400 to the vendor to fix the spring. A way to say up front, “That's not covered” as opposed to telling me that I need to go look at my policy or add it in would be good. I understand that sometimes you don't know the problem until they diagnose it. But in this particular case, we knew the problem and there was no need to have AHS send someone out here. I've had that problem again before. The vendors that AHS has always come out and naturally, nothing's ever totally covered.

    We just did a claim for a hot water heater. AHS paid $600 but the vendor wanted 1,100 more just to say that we're out of code. I knew he was gonna say we were out of code, even though they were putting the same system back in. They come out and their job is to bypass AHS, and with the customer to go ahead and have to use more money. We've done drains or we get plumbers out but usually, everything else is never covered. It's kind of one of those situations where you're thinking you got one-stop shopping and you're paying for a service that is going to complete the service for you. But when you find out what you're getting, it's so minor and you question why you are paying for the warranty.

    You've got up to 48 hours before somebody calls you back and if it’s on the weekend, it becomes longer. All of that stuff is frustrating but the marketing makes it sound like you got what you got and don't have to worry anymore. When you buy AHS, you think you're protected. the salesmanship is perfect. But it's almost like a bait-and-switch. Some things are covered if it's minor. It'll tell you plumbing is covered until you really get into the weeds of it then you find out you're not covered. There's value in having AHS but I've talked to several people who've had them, and they would say, “I'll never use them again.” Nobody's happy and a lot of folks have dropped AHS' service. Folks are still saying they're not getting what they thought they were going to get.

    My washer was giving me problems. AHS's online navigation was easy to get around but I had to put in the comments that my issue was the washer. Also, I don't know if their system would tell me whether the issue is covered or not. Other than that, the experience with the contractor was good. When they're about 20 minutes away, I got notified that they were coming and then I can track their thing. The tech was professional and he explained a lot of things.

    The benefit to having a home warranty is the cost. I would think that the fees are buried and it wouldn't have to come up with a deductible but having it still seems to be a bit cheaper. The only drawback is everything getting blamed on COVID and there would be no parts. Also, I don't understand why contractors have to come out to diagnose my issue, and then I have to wait another week to get parts ordered. That seems to happen all the time.

    American Home Shield seems to have a more comprehensive coverage and they also have one of the largest market shares, which is comforting. I use them and they do what they are supposed to do, which is to have people come out and solve my problems. I'm paying $100 for them to come out. Sometimes, the problem is a user error where I just didn't see something I should have. That's okay. But if something really is wrong, technicians fix it and I don't have to worry about it. The turnaround time is also generally the next day, which is very acceptable. I had tech come in for a service and he was professional and was everything I expected him to be.     When my AC wasn't cooling, I submitted the claim through the automated line but it wasn't specified to me whether I was going to call Global or Global was going to contact me. But then I discovered that Home Shield sent an email telling me that Global would call me, and if they didn't call me within 24 hours, then I could call them. Global was very professional. They did a very good job. But I was a little disappointed that American Home Shield only pays $10 a pound of Freon. I needed three pounds of Freon and the cost of Freon is $100. Then we paid $360 out of pocket on top of the $100 service fee. So it was very hefty for us.

    Redwood Coast Plumbing came out for a few different reasons. I have two bathrooms and the seal at the bottom of the toilets in both were leaking. I also had one shower drain that was clogged. The other shower drain was leaking underneath and they were able to tighten up the fitting enough to make it stop leaking without having to cut it. Then we weren't getting hot water. It was in and out and sporadic. They diagnosed the hot water system and determined that the hot water heater wasn't working. That got replaced. They were thorough, but they stuck to what they were tasked to do.

    It's just that the biggest hang-up in the claims process is when I talk to the person from Home Shield and I tell them the list of things, it somehow gets jumbled up by the time the contractor comes out. I have to do a little bit of callback. It's almost like a game on the telephone. By the time the contractor tells me what they're here for, I'm like, “Well, that wasn't quite what I said.” But then I would recommend this warranty. A lot of insurances don't really want to cover, but within the confines of Home Shield's rules and regulations, they back up what they said they're gonna do.

    Our air conditioning unit stopped blowing cold air so we called American Home Shield and they sent out Cold Snap. The claims process worked great but we were disappointed that Cold Snap was so impacted that we had to wait a while. One time, I followed up to make sure that they were going to come on the 26th and they said they were scheduled for the 29th. I said that the claim is through AHS and once I said that, the rep said they could fit us in on the 26th. It made a difference that our claim was through AHS, although we had to wait two weeks. Once Cold Snap came, it was great. They replaced a fan and a motor and the unit works fine now.

    My toilet wasn't flushing correctly. I'd have to hold the handle down for a while to make it flush. And then sometimes, it wouldn't. Normally, AHS is pretty good. We had a couple of times when they'll send somebody that doesn't want to work or deal with our claim. But other than that, we've been using AHS. They seem pretty well.

    They have deeper resources. The benefit of having them is the reliability of being able to just grab a contractor to come on over and take a look at it. I've recommended AHS in the past and they're still pretty good. They just got to figure out that sometimes I get billed, and then they say they're gonna credit it, and then they don't. But billing is always a separate issue. As far as the service goes, it's good.

    When we tried to turn the fan in the living room on, it cut off and triggered one of the circuits of the house. Once the service request was made, less than 24 hours, I got a phone call, then after that, I got a date. And then, the contractor went out at that time that they specified, they did what they needed to do, looked at what they needed to look at, came up with a resolution on how to repair or replace the fans and set up another date that they would set up. Done. It was very easy.

    I thought we had an electrical issue, but the technician that American Home Shield recommended came out and looked at the problem, and he was like, "Oh, no, no, this is not an electrical issue. It's only the motor." One motor in the living room and another in the bedroom were bad. He took them out because he felt like the motors were doing something that they shouldn't be doing. And we can't use the fans without a motor, so we both fans were replaced. Everybody likes the work that they did, and everybody likes the fan that we have.

    The first time that the contractor came out for the AC, they had to order the part that they thought they needed. Then they came out the second time and got it fixed. They were real nice. They were good to deal with, and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. Overall, American Home Shield has been fine.     My bill is over $700 every month. I cannot afford to keep paying $700 every month. I have two units. I have an upstairs and a downstairs. The way the house is set up is the upstairs is open to the downstairs, except for my kids’ rooms. So, the thermostat for upstairs, that one runs all the time because the hot air rises. Then my downstairs unit runs all the time and it doesn't keep up. The tech came out and he was nice as can be. He even did it thoroughly and checked everything. He said that the Freon was low, which none of the other people said Freon was low. So he put two pounds of Freon in it, which was a lot. The AC unit shouldn’t lose Freon.

    But he came out on Saturday and I need to call him back. Every time I called AHS, they were like, “Are you sure you're having this issue?” I said, “Okay, I'm not sitting in my house at 76 degrees at 5 PM. I'm not just calling you.” They asked if I was trying to get a new unit. I said, “I don't care if you put a bunny rabbit in my unit, if you put a red Solo cup and have to wire it to my neighbor's house and my neighbor just says the magic word. However, it gets fixed, I don't care.” It's running all the time and my bill being almost $700, I was like, “What in the world?”

    We were in the process of getting our crawlspace encapsulated and the people who came out for that told us that we had water under the house. We had leaking from our hot water heater and from a pipe in our bathroom. We called American Home Shield and they sent someone out. They told my husband that we only had leaking from our sink in the bathroom and none from the hot water heater. We were told that the pipe had come loose. I called and asked who would be responsible for getting the water up since our warranty should have covered that. AHS said they would be responsible for getting the water up if it was coming from normal wear and tear. We got a person to come out to get the water up. They said most of the water had dried up. Since the repair people fixed the pipe, there is no more leaking under there and we didn't have any further issues.

    We have a tankless water heater and it was getting cold. We had to go outside and flip it off and flip it back on, and this was happening very often. American Home Shield sent the plumbing company out here and the first time that the tech came, he couldn't fix it. He tried to but it didn’t work so he came back and said that it needed a part. So, they sent the part to my house but when he got out here, it was the wrong one. The first time, it took about two weeks because they were waiting. One person thought the person ordered it and didn’t. But the tech came and flipped it on so I suppose it’s fixed. We haven’t had any problem yet.

    When you call in to AHS, the calls are being rerouted overseas and a lot of times, you're talking and the reps don't understand you and you don’t understand them. The first time I called, I didn’t to have to pay $75. Then when I called back, the person was arguing with me that I had to pay. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they didn't have one. It’s hard to get transferred to someone who can talk to you and explain to you what's going on. People should cross their T’s and dot their I’s if they are looking into home warranties. It said garage on the warranty and when we had a problem with the garage, I thought it covered everything but it didn't. So people need to make sure to be exact of what they're asking for when they speak to the warranty company.

    The last few times, the service has been prompt. All American Plumbing is the best company American Home Shield has sent out. They called immediately to schedule an appointment and were here when they said they were going to be here. But when I filed my claim for my refrigerator, it took quite a while. I understand American Home Shield has their process that they have to follow. But when the serviceperson came, he did tell me that it was the condenser. The instructions that he got was to try to fix the item first, but the condenser is an expensive part to begin with, and the refrigerator was about 10 years old. He did fix it because he told me anything is repairable, it's just how much money you are willing to put into the item. When I called, they didn't want to honor the warranty. But it had been exactly 30 days so they did come and replace it. It took us about a month to get it back but American Home Shield was beneficial to me because I did get a new refrigerator in the end. It's better to have it than need it and not have it.

    The AC started making a weird noise. I called American Home Shield and they sent out A-1 Quality Care. The tech came out and did something, and the sound wasn't there. It kind of went away. But then, it came back, and I videotaped it. I realized it was making this weird sound all the time. I called American Home Shield again and they sent the tech back out. It was making the sound when he came and he said the compressor was going to go. Four days later, it went completely. The tech ordered the compressor and American Home Shield rush ordered it for me.

    A-1 Quality Care was supposed to come back out on Friday but American Home Shield put a rush on the claim and he came out on Wednesday. A-1 Quality Care was notified when American Home Shield got the compressor. The installer picked it up and then came over to my house and put it in. American Home Shield did a great job. A-1 Quality Care was so polite and they explained what was going on. I'm old and on medication, so it's kind of nice to have somebody come out that knows what they're doing. I feel confident with American Home Shield and A-1 Quality Care coming out. So far, the AC is working fine.

    There was a time that American Home Shield sent out a contractor and I begged them not to. They came out about six years before for the air conditioner, and the installer was really rude. I was trying to explain what was going on but they didn't want to know anything. The installer ended up hooking something up, but he hooked it up backwards.

    I had some problems with my refrigerator and American Home Shield sent a company out to work on it. It took forever for that company to get here to do the job and the tech didn’t diagnose or do anything. They didn't know what they were doing. I contacted American Home Shield. They got me a different contractor, which was Andy’s Appliance Repair and they come right out. They were very punctual. They diagnosed the issue properly and the tech got it fixed. I've also had American Home Shield work on my air conditioner. There was a pan of some sort inside the furnace of the unit that condensation drips into. It had a crack and it had to be replaced. That didn't take too long and the unit is great now. American Home Shield is a good, reputable company and it was worth having the service.

    I had a leak that was going on in one of my guest bathrooms on the third floor of the house. It’s connected to the tub and it looked like something pooled at it. But I discovered that it was water damage and the water was coming from up above. So, I called Mac Mac Plumbing and their plumber saw that the problem was a pipe that was open and dribbling water. He got the supplies needed and fixed the problem. He did an excellent job. AHS is a really good service and a very professional company.     Claim-wise, for us, American Home Shield taking care of it was good. It was more so the people that they have actually doing the work. That company that came out, it was brief and quick, in-out. And then, it was younger kids, so I assume that they would need to get workers who know what they are doing. One says, "This was happening. What was going on with this?" And then, Richard comes out, finds something else. They guess at it, more so. AHS got the job done with this experience. I've had some bad experiences with them, but in this claim, no bad experience. But they have their ups and downs. Everything can't be perfect. But I'm still here. I would definitely recommend them.

    I called and told American Home Shield that I had two different spots with leaks. I just asked for a representative and waited. I figured out how to manage through the system. When you do it online, you can't say what you have. All you can say is, "Oh, pick one of these." So, if I say I have a leak, they don't know how many. And if somebody comes out, he'll say, "Well, you told one thing." They can't look at something else. So, I never go through the system. I just get ahold of somebody.

    The representative I spoke with regarding the leaks was very good. She asked me what my toilets look like. I had two toilets that needed to be fixed. The tech, Mario, came yesterday and fixed the leak in the kitchen and in the bathroom. The pipes were leaking underneath the faucet. We really like him. He's really a good guy. He takes his shoes off. He wears a mask.

    The AC company came out and put in a bunch of Freon in the unit then the next day, the unit was not working. They charged me $500 for the Freon, which I knew if they had to add Freon, we had to pay. If it didn’t work, why was I charged that? Right now, only one unit is working and the one up top was making a funny noise, so I just turned it off. I didn't want it to do something even worse. The working unit is having problems because the other unit is making it so hot. It's not cooling as well. When they came that Friday afternoon, the worker couldn't figure it out and said he would get Jason, his boss, to get back with us. That was Friday, and I was giving Jason a little time, but today is the day I'm gonna call him.

    I left American Home Shield and went with someone else. But things didn't go too well with them. The service fee and the monthly fee were lower but I didn't like the customer service. I bit the bullet with the high service fee and went back to American Home Shield. I’m just praying that I don't have too many other issues because it takes me out of my budget. That aside, the monthly fee is fine as it’s low.

    The freezer on the refrigerator stopped working and we put in a request online and immediately found out who our technician was. He called the next day, set up the appointment, came out and did a diagnostic on it. He let us know what the issue was with the freezer and that our refrigerator was running red, which means that it was on the verge of going out. American Home Shield wanted to do a second opinion. But before the second opinion guy even came out to diagnose it, American Home Shield decided to replace the refrigerator. So, I got an email saying I would pick out my replacement and I did. It will be at my house on the 4th, which is super awesome.

    AHS did their due diligence and I understand the second opinion, because if you're gonna shell out a whole lot of money for a new refrigerator, I'd want a second opinion too. Once they figured out how much it was gonna cost to fix it, it was probably cheaper to buy a new refrigerator. The process is easy and I love that as soon as I submit a claim, I know exactly what company is coming out. We had a different home warranty company and it wasn't like that. We battled for six months and finally, I dropped them and we went with American Home Shield.

    We had a problem and American Home Shield had someone out here within two weeks, which I really wished was a little sooner. But I was fine with the tech. He checked everything out thoroughly and he was talking to someone on the phone about the problem. He was knowledgeable. Last week, I spoke with someone and I couldn't understand everything she was saying. Apparently, I was getting a check put in the mail. It was for me to hire somebody to have my microwave installed.     The contractor didn't fix anything when they came out. The waterline wasn't hooked to the refrigerator and they forgot to put the little bar on the inside of the ice faucet that connects the ice for the ice maker. They said they would come back after the guy who did wiring would hook the connection for the waterline. I'm not quite sure I like AHS' claim process.

    From what I saw, the issue was the icemaker. The door had rusted and some part was not working properly. I went online initially, because I had to pay the fee.

    When I ordered my refrigerator through Sears, the guys from J.B. Hunt is delivering the refrigerator. However, their policy states that they cannot touch the copper. So, I need to call Ladd to have them come out and finish the installation of my refrigerator. But the tech was very patient and answered my questions. I'm the type that repeats for clarity. He did an excellent job on that. American Home Shield is okay, but the prices have gone up. But I would recommend them because of my experience.

    A water company came out because I wasn't getting any pressure in my house. The tech was very professional. He did the diagnostic and came up with the issue, which was the PVC PAC P7. You have to turn it to adjust the water pressure. The valve was damaged on the pipe. He had to take it off and put a new one on it. He did really well and I appreciated him. Everything is working fine.

    I like the fact that the contracted company has some type of app that lets you know exactly who's coming, a photo of the person, and what time they arriving. You can see them en route. I really like this company because it's hard when you see a company saying they would come out between 8:00 and 11:00. As for American Home Shield, I like that I don't have to pay a lot of money out of pocket when we’re paying.

    Our refrigerator issue is almost a yearly event. It ices up in the back of the refrigerator. Kimbros, the contractor, has had to pull the back out and de-ice it three times now and they take care of it without any problem. But right now, I'm having a little battle with AHS. I had already paid the $100 fee for the call and all of a sudden, they charged me $75. I have no clue what it's for and they don't tell what it's for. I've called three times and I've got different people looking into it. I've also sent them a copy of the notice I got that my checking account had been charged. Other than that, I've had a good experience with getting my repairs done. Also, I live in a more rural area now so the service people are limited and I'm getting better service. Unlike when I lived in a large metropolitan area and I had problems getting the service done by someone that I felt was reputable.

    The first guy came out. The issues were my faucet in my kitchen and bathroom, my toilet downstairs, and my toilet in my bedroom which it was running. So, he snaked the bathroom downstairs. And then the bathroom upstairs, he put a new one inside the tank. But every time I flushed it, it would get stuck. So, a guy had to come back out yesterday and fix it. On my bathroom faucet and kitchen faucets, I'm waiting on parts to come in from Delta. And then, they would have to come back and fix the two faucets. I just joined American Home Shield this year. But the service fee to come out is very high, so I might leave them next year.

    We had an issue with the plastic lining that secures a shelf in place. That cracked from things being on the shelf. Now, the shelf is becoming unstable so we requested that the plastic liner be replaced. The issue was that the piece was not going to be covered. AHS said the problem was due to misuse or wear and tear when that wasn't what happened. The rep said that's what the report said. We asked if we could get a copy of her report because the report that we have does not state AHS's reason for not covering our claim. But, the rep kept repeating the same thing over and over again as if she was reading off of a script. She would not change her answer even though we kept rephrasing questions.

    We called AHS and we were trying to speak to somebody. The rep had an attitude problem. She said she couldn't help us. Also, there was a child crying in the background. We requested the call be escalated to some kind of supervisor or manager. She left us on hold for over 30 minutes. She would come back on and say, “I'm still trying to get ahold of them.” Every couple few minutes, we would say, “Hello, what's the status?" Eventually, she stopped responding to us and continued to leave us on hold for about 30 minutes or so. We wanted to make sure the call was being recorded so that it could be reviewed. She stated that it would be.

    So while my wife was on the phone on hold with her, I called, attempting to speak with a second receptionist. She said there were no notes in our file that we were on the phone with anybody. We also requested that our call be escalated because she couldn't help us. She left us on hold also and said that we would get a call by the end of the day from escalation because she sent them an email. We received no phone call and it's been several days.

    I’ve had two problems with my air conditioner. The most recent was it needed a fan. It took the contractor a couple of days. We were almost out of air for about four days. That was rough. They came one day and said that they needed a part. They didn’t get exactly what they needed. The next day, they came out, had what they needed and fixed the unit. They worked really hard to get the part they needed.

    We did have trouble with the air conditioner not too long before. We had a hard time because the men came out and said it was a plumbing problem. American Home Shield wouldn’t pay for something. They sent two different plumbing companies and that air conditioner company but couldn’t fix it. Finally, we called the air conditioning people in town. They came out and it was just a hose that was disconnected. They connected it back, glued it, and left. It turned out to be a really simple fix, but we had to pay $200 because it was on the weekend.     I was having an issue with my toilet in the main bedroom. I called the American Home Shield and they were able to set it up for me and have a contractor come out. The day before the tech came out, I was able to fix it. But he was able to help me out with the other areas like the sinks and tubs. He went above and beyond. He tried to help me with my situation, then asked if there was anything else that I needed help with since he was there. So I would recommend him back if I have any other issues. I'm glad he was able to get here to help me with the other issues I have or prevent future problems, either with my bathtub or my sinks. This was my first time having to contact American Home Shield and it was great. It was fast and prompt. Their service fee is kind of reasonable. Other places charge 50 for the service fee, and some other places charge 100.

    With both of the requests I had, I got a good, quick response and excellent service. I got what I needed from that, so we're all very happy. The techs and I had our little discussion on what went wrong and how it could be fixed. It was a gas range and a refrigerator. They got the parts needed very quickly, came back and fixed it. Overall, I absolutely like having the warranty, so I'm going to keep it for a long time. However, it’s almost $600 a year and it's a lot of money. Some of the appliances are not as expensive, and sometimes, you'd think, "Is it worth it?" any promotions or discounts that they can provide in the future will definitely help us maintain the long term relationship.

    I would get off of work and the house would be 80 degrees. It was just super hot. I went online and submitted a claim with AHS. Grady's Air came out. I would change my air filters every three months. The tech said I should do it more often than every three months. Then he went and inspected the AC unit outside. It hadn't been cleaned in a while. So he cleaned it and while he was cleaning it, he said the outside of it was corroding because we live so close to the bay. He said that one was installed or was made in 2009. He said that the unit is older. Because it's so corroded, it's having such a hard time cooling down and keeping up with itself. Then he went up in the attic and said everything was perfectly fine up there. It's just the unit itself can't keep up with itself. The guy was pretty helpful. That was the first time we've ever had someone come out, look at our AC. He knew what he was talking about and everything he explained to me made sense.

    Recently, we had a plumber come out, and we had somebody come and fix the drywall. American Home Shield has a process they have to go through, and I get that. But with the plumber issue, the contractor had to come out three separate times because of different things. One is they cut into the wall, and then they had to wait for approval, and they came back. It took them a while. And we just got the drywall fixed. It took them another five weeks to get somebody out to fix the drywall.

    The whole repair process was almost two full months for just one leaking faucet, which is a little excessive, but it was not anything that was a huge inconvenience. It was a little annoying that we had to continue calling AHS to get updates and to get somebody out for the drywall repair. It took three different phone calls. And then they were like, "Oh, yeah. I guess we need to send somebody else." They got it fixed, and it's fine now. I'm happy. I'm keeping the service. But there could be more efficiency to it. Things could move a little quicker. I do property management. I've had a lot of my owners sign up for AHS. I'm familiar with them and we recommend it to a lot of our clients. And I've got a few relatives that have the service now, too. We have encouraged other people to reach out and see about getting their own home warranties.

    I kept getting a statement saying that my credit card has been denied. I called my bank, Navy Federal, my monetary institution. They said, no such claims have been put through. They had not denied anything. I ended up having to pay with a separate card to get American Home Shield satisfied. I called back. But, the rep, didn’t know anything and said, “I can’t tell you why.” I said, “My card is good. You take out my monthly payment from the same card. I have no idea why it would not I process.” So, I went on and gave her a new card to get it processed after my third email saying that I hadn’t paid my bill. I called whatever number I was given or she transferred me to. There was no answer, but I was told I would get a call back at 7:00 PM, which did not happen. I'm still at a loss as to who will give me that information.

    With my recent claim, the only problem was the tech was extremely late. But I got a call to say that the man was held up on a previous call, and I understand that. So, he came in and he was able to fix my refrigerator. I haven’t heard the noises anymore even though he said something about my damper on my refrigerator was stuck. He pulled things apart and he reset the frost. He explained to me what my warranty covers and that it was electrical or mechanical. Those were the things that he could address. But he said my damper was stuck, so he did that piece. But there were no parts. He made adjustments and it’s been a week and my refrigerator has been just perfect. The tech knew his job. He understood the mechanics. I would recommend that person who was Sammy.

    I called American Home Shield because the shower faucet handles have started falling off. The bathroom was remodeled before we purchased the property, so the hardware and the bathtub are completely new. We've found in the last month that the hardware has not been installed properly so it keeps falling off. I also needed the drainage for the bathroom sink in the same bathroom repaired. The water wouldn't go out of the sink. I was buying Drano and putting it off. I decided to see if my Home Shield covers it, so I looked up my contract. It did covers the bath sink and the shower faucet.

    The contractor came out. He looked at it and said, “Oh, this one’s an easy fix. It needs to be cleaned with alcohol wipes. And you need to put silicone glue on it, tape it with duct tape. And this is something that you can do yourself. Your insurance doesn't pay for it.” Then he went to the truck. This man stayed here all of 12 minutes. I timed him. The first part of the 12 minutes, he explained to me how to put the shower handles back on my shower with silicone and alcohol wipes and duct tape. The second part of it was four minutes of him walking to his truck, which is directly in front of my door, back in here, and running a snake in the sink that was stopped up. Then he said, “Go on Amazon. Buy some $20 enzymes, drain all of your drainage areas inside your home. But don’t do it close together from one drain to another.” That was it.

    He was respectful. He was covered up. He had his mask on. I shared with him that I had been vaccinated. He said that he had been vaccinated. But he was straight to the point. He was blunt. “This is a easy fix. It’s something about 8 inches between some inches. And Home Shield doesn't cover the shower faucet handles.” The shower handle nozzles are new. They were installed improperly, and I wanted to know what Home Shield covers and have a licensed contractor to come and install them properly. I still don’t have my shower fixed.

    My AC wasn't heating and there was a noise inside my house. The AC was freezing up. I went outside to check the unit and it had ice all over the compressor and the hose was all iced up as well. A serviceman named Gabe said it was low on Freon so he put some. I ended up paying an extra $77 for that. That lasted for four days and then we started hearing a really loud noise outside like an air compressor when its hose breaks off. The neighbors knocked on our door saying that the AC was doing the thing again.

    I called AHS a second time and a serviceman named Rob came. He was very thorough and professional. He checked everything and even went up in the attic. He noticed that the fans of the core in the attic were really dirty and weren't allowing air to go through. That was the problem and he called it in. The next day, a man named Junior went in the attic and cleaned all the cores. After that, my AC has been fine and it's still working really well. We were really happy and pleased that they fixed the problem. Having a home warranty gives me peace of mind knowing that if something happens, I'm gonna be okay and that I'm not gonna have to dip into my savings to pay for a costly repair. I feel I'm being protected.

    I had three claims with American Home Shield. One was for my refrigerator, one for my washing machine, and one for my AC. Their service has been inconsistent and customer service has been lacking. There were a lot of representatives that didn't work to help resolve the issue. There was a lot of passing on to another department then finding out that it was actually that other department that could have helped with getting the issue resolved. It took way too long to get to a resolution.

    I called in and created a case for my air conditioner. American Home Shield sent a company out but I did not feel safe with the representative that came. I reported that and American Home Shield had to send someone else out. But due to me feeling unsafe, I did not qualify initially to get the credit that they would apply to what they were willing to pay to get my AC fixed. There had to be a lot of back and forth between my husband and me in order to get someone to really look into it because it didn't make any sense that they were telling me that I was no longer qualified to get that reimbursement.

    The second instance with my home warranty was regarding my refrigerator. The technician recommended a replacement. However, we had a problem with the amount that was approved based on the sizing and what was qualified for replacement. American Home Shield didn't have a replacement within their warehouse so they approved a certain amount. It was pulling teeth working with a few representatives who just kept reading a script. That was very obvious and they were not willing to listen to what my concerns were with the sizing and what was comparable to what I was looking to replace.

    I escalated with one of the home warranty's representatives and she transferred me mid-sentence because she did not like that I was asking for help and was probing a little bit more into the matter instead of her moving me to another representative to speak with. Each time you ask to speak to a manager, they decline. They say a manager’s not available and they will send you an email. I still have not gotten any response from a manager when I escalated.

    When I was finally transferred again after being on hold for over two hours, twice, I got the right representative who listened to what I had to say, looked into the matter, and saw that I qualified based on the replacement that I was looking for to get an increase in the allotted amount to replace my refrigerator. That issue was resolved after a week of back-and-forth and arguing with the representative. There needs to be a better system in place when American Home Shield customers are escalated. There should be a next step where a manager is involved so that we feel like they care. There also needs to be better training for those associates. They had horrible customer service and lots of attitude.

    My experience with AHS has been all right. But, if they are having difficulty, they should call and let me know. The dishwasher wasn't working properly and AHS decided to replace it. But, they haven't replaced it yet and that's over a month ago. The tech also said he had to order an igniter for the stove and a part for the washing machine. They haven't gotten the igniter in and I guess the tech is gonna make one trip and that's why he hasn't come back. But, I don’t know if he got the stuff for the washing machine or not.

    Recently, I had an issue with my air conditioning unit and Comfort Pros was the first company to come out. They said the claim was not covered. I didn't understand 80% of the conversation with customer service because American Home Shield's call center is in the Philippines. When I could understand them, they were misinformed and were giving me the wrong answers. They kept telling me that the claim was covered when it was denied. I already heard from the district manager that my first claim was denied. It was very frustrating that they didn't know what the bottom line was. They would say yes then it turns out, you would have to spend $1,000.

    It was really a mess. You get the run-around and not everybody really knew the true answer. Another company was assigned to the claim and that seemed to be going okay. They came out and what they did to try to rectify the issue didn't work so they had to come out again. It turned out I needed a whole new unit. That went smoothly.

    The contractor was great. Took care of the issue immediately. The tech knew what to look for and he fixed it fast. In the garage, there were three outlets. The tech showed me it was a very simple matter. The reset button had popped off during a storm so my garage door wouldn't go up and down. My sprinkler system wouldn't work. I didn't think to look for something that simple. He showed me where they were and what to do, so that if I had a problem again, I could take care of it.

    I like knowing that when I call somebody out to look, it would be $75. And if it was something simple, they would fix it. The tech came in carrying a breaker in a box. He was prepared when he got here. He was able to fix it while he was here for the one fee. And my washer, the contractor came out and I paid the 75, but then I had to spend $307 to get the washer fixed because it wasn't covered. Because it was something I did. I just sold my other home, and I'm going to give them the same policy I have.

    I called and asked for someone to come and have a look at the dryer that wasn't working. Sneed had been out here about three months earlier and replaced some things in the dryer. It worked but when you turn it on, it did not do anything. Once you press the button, you'll hear a noise, but there was no agitation. Once you took your finger off the start button, it didn't work. I told American Home Shield not to send Sneed back on any occasion. But this time, when I called for assistance, they sent it to Sneed. I called them back and told them that I requested I didn't want Sneed. They gave the ticket to Win Win Solutions. The person who called to make the appointment to come and examine the dryer was very precise as to what time they would come in. They came quite promptly, examined the dryer and recommended replacement.

    I got the email giving me a choice and telling me to choose. I did that and they called back and said they're going to bring the dryer on Monday, which they did at 7:30 in the morning. But Sneed is still calling me every day. They call me on my cellphone and my house phone automatically. When you get one call from them, you get two calls because they're going to call both numbers. They send me email too. I'll send them a text saying I don't need their assistance, but they still keep calling me. Everything is automated and I can't get in touch with them. But American Home Shield worked for me. They don't have to replace anything or check anything every year but when it's necessary, I know I can call them. I tell all my friends, whether they're in New York or New Jersey, to call American Home Shield, get their coverage, and rest assured that they'll get the service that they need whenever they need it.

    I was very disappointed that American Home Shield doesn't cover the Freon. I know that’s American Home Shield’s policy, so it wasn't the contractor making up something but I really was disappointed that American Home Shield doesn't cover more of that cost. Still, AHS is definitely worth having. I've been with the company almost 19 years since I've had the home. I would never go without a home warranty. So, I appreciate having AHS. I definitely will continue to be a customer. When I worked for another particular agency, I did refer American Home Shield to my boss who was buying a house at the time. It wasn't a huge savings with the little bit of stuff that we had done on the refrigerator and the dishwasher, but should our furnace go out and they're as easy to work with as they were with the little things, it’s well worth it to us. Plus, I don't have to deal with having to find somebody to fix a problem and wonder how much is it going to be. It's my deductible and that's it. For new homeowners that get in and don't have any experience in fixing things, American Home Shield is awesome. They warranty older appliances, too, which is great.

    My parents also have American Home Shield and the folks that have come out there, they've talked to them and to me. It says a lot when you ask the person that comes out to work on our appliances how the company works with them. My parents had a company out of Topeka and mine came out of nearly the Nebraska line. Both companies that we asked said American Home Shield works very well with them. That makes a big difference. Prices are great. But if the companies don't work well with the repair folks, it doesn't matter how cheap the prices are if they don't work well.

    My refrigerator was leaking water from the bottom and the ice maker wouldn't dispense. I called in a claim and then a lady called me and said that the contractor would be out between 9:00 and 11:00 for the first initial visit. My wife was here when the tech came out and she said he diagnosed what was going on with the leak, and then he said that something was going on with the dispenser and that it needed parts. So he ordered the parts and it took about two weeks to come in. He called me to say that he ordered parts and that he was waiting on the parts to come in. About four days later, I got a call saying that the parts would be in on a specific date and that he would call me Monday because he was gonna come out Tuesday. He never did call on Monday, but he did show up at 9:15 Tuesday morning.

    I had an AC problem two years ago and the company that came out sent a little young guy. I had to call in and file a complaint on that company with American Home Shield because this little young guy acted like he didn't want to be here. He said the issue was we put in Freon in the system, and then he said that was gonna fix it. Two days later, we were hot again in this house and it was in the summertime. I told them to not send the same guy, and they sent another guy. The second guy was still young, but he was a lot more friendly and informative. He replaced the compressor outside in the unit.

    Several years ago we had an icemaker which we’ve been able to get fixed with American Home Shield. We had to get the local appliance guy to come. Also, we've called AHS to do a trash compactor and the guy fixed that. Recently a technician came for our washing machine and replaced parts but it still didn't work. I'm in the process of calling them this morning to get them to come back. But as far as the promptness and service go, we're happy. The service guys that AHS sent, Star Services, were very professional and very polite. They did what they said they were going to do.

    Over here we live, if I was to call my heat and air guy, if I was to call AHS, it would take me a week to get my issue fixed. I've got friends in both of those businesses who would be here within 24 hours. Also, we are now financially at where we don't need American Home Shield. We're contemplating whether to keep them or not because if something breaks, I have money to fix it now and I can take that $100 a month for AHS and put it back in the savings account.

    I filed a claim for a backed-up sink over a snail call and the rep I spoke with was proper and respectful. We got it done fairly quickly.     In general, the claim process is fine except for the issue of when someone calls, AHS has an explanation for why something is this and that until digging out in the contract and finding out. Things need to be clarified for both. Then we shift from remote and multimedia and I'm asking, "What's the multimedia"? But there's no explanation.

    With my recent claim, the techs visited the first time and said they had to order spare parts. When they came back, they did not use a spare part. They mentioned that they repaired the wiring and that there was a problem with the remote system. They said that was not covered. So, I thought it wasn't a remote system and the issue is just the controller behind the wall. I called and they said it's not covered. I don't know why it isn't. The warranty says multimedia but I don't understand what they mean by multimedia system. When the contractor came with a behavior issue, that was fine. But to say, “I want to go get spare parts,” and then come back later on and say, “No, I don't need to replace spare part,” then find another issue, it just sheds doubts on why the issue came up to this point.

    There was a leak in the outdoor water pipes that lead to the house. The plumber came, took some pictures, and looked at the situation. Basically, in our county, the water access for our home is right at the street, and then anything within our yard to the house is our responsibility to get a repair, and there are a couple of leaks there in the yard. We haven't heard anything back because no work has been done. It was just sending in a report to AHS. We have another claim that we've started working with an appliance repair company, and we're only partway through that. So, we haven't had a completed job yet, but it looks promising.

    I pay my bill through American Home Shield's app and it gives me all the information. But one thing I don't like about the app is if you want to pay the bill before the exact due date, you can't do it. You can only pay on the due date or after the due date. I also went on the app and put in a request when my dryer wouldn't start. I was told Sears was coming out. I was very satisfied with the tech that came out. He got my dryer working again.

    AHS is a good company to go with. But I do have a couple of issues before that I wasn't satisfied with. When COVID was starting, my washing machine broke and it took over six weeks for the contractor to come and fix it. I was getting kind of mad with them because it shouldn't take six weeks to get a technician. Before they even tried to send someone, they've had my money for that long. I had to have my husband talk to them and tell them that if they didn't get somebody out here in a certain length of time, he was going to call an attorney. That was how frustrated we were.

    The washing machine had to be replaced and then it took another two weeks. So I was about two months without a washing machine. But I had to fight to get the washing machine. AHS said the claim was closed. But I said, "Wait a minute. The claim isn't closed. You haven't rectified the situation. I've paid you the money. You came out. And you're the company that said that, ‘You needed to replace the washing machine. Replace the washing machine.’” But I've had success with other things that I submitted to American Home Shield. It’s $125 for the service guy to come out and it's too bad he can't fix everything at one try. But I get it. They're here to make money too.

    I like that I haven't had to pay anything extra with my recent claim. The company just came out, I paid the $75, and they fixed the issue. The only complaint I had was that I called on a Monday and the company couldn't come out till a Friday. I thought that five days was a bit much. I've had some plumbing issues, and normally, they come out the next day or the same day, but it was the same company. But then this next time, they changed me to a new one, and that took time to come out. But then since my toilet was running, they didn't feel like that was a big deal. Other than that, it's been okay.

    I also had a claim for the pipe burst and the tech had to cut a hole in the ceiling. He came and fixed the ceiling after he fixed what I initially called for. But since he cut the hole in my ceiling to fix that, he had to come out and patch up my ceiling. Overall, having American Home Shield’s service is good to have because you never know what's going to happen in your house.

    I had a problem with my toilet since February. American Home Shield's claims process was very good and the techs came out right away as soon as they were available. They were very respectful and they told me that they were getting it done. They let me know what they were doing when they needed to. Other than that, they told me that they would have to come back and that they would check if American Home Shield covered the T-pipe. It wasn't covered, so I had to pay $250, but other than that, the service was good. Having American Home Shield is very beneficial. I've tried Roto-Rooter. Nobody solved the problem but American Home Shield. That was my most important point. There's nothing like a broken toilet.

    Submitting claims is a simple process to get through but I got to wait too long to get service. Also, although I pay a monthly fee, I pay a deductible of $100 every time I request service and that was not explained. Then, they say 24 to 48 hours but if it's an emergency, paying for the repair is gonna come out of pocket. When my refrigerator went up, the contractor wanted me to wait 24 to 48 hours. My food had already thawed so I needed someone immediately and I ended up paying for repairs out of my pocket. I also had a pool claim and the tech from Pool Wizard did great, but I had to wait a week before someone could come. It's the same thing with my stove right now. I can't get anybody until next week. And when I first joined, I had an issue with the shower and they denied it so I ended up coming out of pocket with that.

    They have a horrible phone menu. It takes a while to get through to somebody. When I get through with somebody, there's about a 99.9% chance that they don't speak good English. It's very difficult to communicate with them. The other thing is the service providers that they use aren't top-notch and they don't speak English. It’s very hard to communicate with them. They also don't complete the work.

    I'm still waiting for Silver Star Appliances to fix my dishwasher and repeated calls to them are not returned. The same way with Appliance Magic. It's been three weeks for them to get a couple of lightbulbs for my refrigerator and they don't return phone calls. So I've decided to no longer use American Home Shield for those reasons.

    The other thing is the cost. They play the cost game. I used them for several years and it was always the same thing. When it came up for renewal, the renewal cost was 20% higher than what I paid for the previous year. Then after talking with them, it was worked back down to where I thought it was reasonable. The same thing happened this year. I'm just tired of playing games with them. From here on, I'll self-insure.

    The air conditioner is about three years old and a brand-new unit, inside and outside. All it did was condensation was coming back and keeping the floor wet. Then every so often, it would freeze up. American Home Shield took our $100 and sent somebody out. He came in the back door to the air conditioner, opened the door, and said we need new coils. He wanted us to pay $500 out of our pocket. We don't have it. That's why we had warranty insurance. Then, there was nothing wrong with the coils. He said it was dirty. He could have cleaned it or give us our $100 back. He also said the Freon is full. If the coils were leaking like he was saying, then it shouldn't have Freon. He ain’t done anything. He hasn’t even turned a screwdriver or removed the panel.

    We've been with American Home Shield for over a year, and one time we had problems, we have to pay out of our pocket. They could at least call us back when we called them more than once a week and they could at least send somebody out to clean it if that’s what it needs to be cleaned. We're in our 60's and we couldn’t do that. We would not recommend this warranty.

    We're still waiting for the stove to be fixed and I'm frustrated. My stove has been broken for a while. I asked American Home Shield to fix it and they sent somebody out. They said they fixed it. I turned the stove on to cook dinner and flames started shooting out underneath because of the gas. Instead of coming out the top, they were also coming out the bottom.

    The guy came out and said some pieces were broken off. I told him, “If you knew they were broken off, then why didn’t you fix it?” He left and said that he would call back when he got home to see if they had the parts. But he never called me so I left him a message the next day asking if he had the parts. I didn't hear anything back from him. I called him again yesterday and he said, “They don’t have the parts. We’ve got to order them. I’ll call and see if I can get an update.” He called back and told me they do have the parts and he'd be here Thursday morning. Supposedly, it’s gonna get fixed tomorrow but I don't know that it will.

    I loved the guy at first. I truly thought he was amazing. It may just be that he's busy but I feel like maybe something could have been done a little better somewhere. The only other thing would be we had a really hard time renewing with American Home Shield. It took us four or five days to be able to renew for whatever reason. Whenever my husband would hit the button to submit renew, it just would spin even though we have strong internet connection. We almost didn't renew because it was a huge hassle.

    When I went to American Home Shield’s website, there was a link down at the bottom for creating a work request. When I clicked on that, my screen was flashing and I couldn't figure out what was going on. It wasn't bringing me into that form to request the work order. I called the 800 number and they said that I was in the system but my account was not active. They said that they could tell it was from a Realtor but they have some authority to go ahead and do that. So, they put in the work order for the rekey. That was fantastic.

    The company contacted me very quickly. They had an opening fairly soon because somebody else had cancelled. I said that I would take the appointment. They're busy slammed right now but I got in very quickly and their work was fantastic. They showed up on time and did all the rekeys, and everything was fine. The next time I had to request for a service, I called it in and they told me the same thing. They had to check with the supervisor and then, they came back and said that they could go ahead and put it in the system. It was for a broken dishwasher and the guy came out two days later. I'm in the middle of that now because he had to go back and request parts. You can't find everything with a microchip now and I’m waiting to hear on that and what's going on with that. I'm perfectly happy and I will be renewing AHS. They’re very easy.

    The control panel of the dishwasher where you set the buttons didn't work. The tech ordered the new part and then he came back and put it in. He ran rinse cycle, which we hadn’t before, and then he left. We loaded it up, ran it, and it worked great. But when we put in some stuff, it didn’t work again. It was the exact same problem. So I called back AHS and they sent him out for a recall thing. He’s thinking now it may be the control board.

    We have three air conditioner units and the techs have had to come out for a different unit a couple of times. For my last claim, the contractor first sent me a message and said “Here's the available times. We're gonna assign them to this date.” Then they sent me a notification to say the tech is on his way. The last unit they came out for was for the unit that's in my office above my garage. It was blowing out warm air. The tech looked at everything and said it needed a pound and a half of Freon. I've always had great experiences with this contractor. They're very friendly and polite. The techs came in wearing masks. They were very respectful and got the job done really efficiently. The bulk of the time, they're the ones who get assigned by American Home Shield. This time was no exception.

    AHS has been really easy to use. They're always very quick. Anytime I've had an issue, I've been able to call and get it resolved. I wish they paid for Freon but other than that, I'm happy with the service.

Then half an hour later, she came in the kitchen and she had a pool of water in there. She didn't understand where it was coming from, but then, she realized that she was running the washer out in the garage. So, I called American Home Shield and they got someone to go out that same day. But when the plumber came out, he said that we had water damage. He said that the pipes were behind a drywall underneath the kitchen sink and that he couldn’t do anything at that time.

    So, we had to call our house insurance and they had to send a restoration company out there. They destroyed the floor and made a big hole on the wall. Then, the plumbers came back and fixed the kitchen sink. But when our tenant used the washer, it started leaking again. So, the plumbers came out a second time and fixed the plumbing to the washer, which is in the laundromat in the garage. So they did their part. But they said that we had to call American Home Shield and that it was going to be a separate fee. So, aside from the $80 and some change that we normally pay, we got charged again a couple of days afterwards. My husband was trying to talk to someone in the billing department about it but the person that was talking to him said that that was the rule.

    In my personal opinion, even though I'm not a plumber, since the washer and dryer stand in the garage, there is a wall, and all those pipes are linked together to the same drain, we shouldn't pay a separate fee when the plumbers came out three days later to be able to fix the problem. That wasn’t fair and initially, we didn’t pay it and my husband was fighting it. But American Home Shield went and pulled the money out because they have our bank information.

    Diamond Garage Doors & Openers came out and repaired the garage door. It wasn't opening or closing. It will go part of the way down and then it'd go back up. I did the claim for it to American Home Shield online. The website was good. I like it. They had sent a text saying that the contractor would be giving me a call, which they did, and they sent an email saying what day and time they would be out. The service was excellent. The tech was very efficient. American Home Shield is a reliable company that you can trust.

    I put what I need and do the best that I can. Sometimes, it doesn't elaborate, but then American Home Shield will comment. And that's fine. My biggest thing is that they are very prompt and I love it. I usually land up doing it on a Friday or Saturday, just sitting down and going, "Okay. Let me do this." I always get a response by that Monday from somebody. They all respond right away through text or email. Recently, water was leaking from the spout, from the front bathroom shower. I changed the knob but it still was leaking. So, the tech replaced the cartridge.

    I love American Home Shield. My daughter's house is only three years old. She said, "Is American Home Shield really worth it?" I said, "Let me tell you something. My house is 25 years old. All of a sudden, God has looked down on me and saying, 'Everything's falling apart.' They're always there for me. Forever." I used to have an old contract that when I talked to the girl, she said, "Wow, we don't even write that contract anymore." I said, "Well, I've had it for a while. But I'm looking for something now that will cover plumbing, just in case." And thank God, I did. She said, "Well, we have something like that that covers a lot more. It covers electronics and all this." I was like, "For real?" And it was twice as much, but it's worth it. So, I stick with AHS.

    We called for our air conditioning and the guy who came out said that the issue was just an electrical plug. I called back to American Home Shield and I had to pay another $75 to have an electrician come out. He put in a new plug. He was here for five minutes and everything is working now. I've had American Home Shield between 20 and 25 years. I've had a few experiences that I wasn't happy with, but on the whole, they've been good. That’s why I keep them.

    We had a washing machine that was knocking, and the control panel wasn't working. I just got an email saying American Home Shield is going to replace the washer. The price for the service call was not too bad compared to what it would have been if we wouldn’t have a home warranty. Make sure you have a good replacement plan and a low deductible.

    When you're a homeowner, and the prices of things are steadily going up, you can just pay a service fee in American Home Shield and have the contractors come out and repair whatever. A lot of times, things aren't covered, or a lot of times, you have to pay extra if it's Freon in your air conditioning unit, so that's one kind of disadvantage. Sometimes, you think that when they say it's cut, like that system's covered, it's covered. But they don't tell you there's extra stuff that you may have to pay for. But it's better to have it. I file claims online and I like the fact that I can get updates through text message, and I don't have to wait and talk to someone. With my recent one, the AC was leaking. The contractor that came was fabulous and repaired it.
