    August 2, 2021 my HVAC broke. 20 days later the compressor came in. It was the wrong one. On 8/23/2021 I was charged $520 for refrigerant which did not fix the problem. The contractor stated he would let AHS to reorder the correct part. On 8/24,25,26 and 27th I attempted to reach the escalation department. I was on hole each time and again each time I was told no one was available to help. The staff were rude and uncaring, each day I was told someone would call me back. I have been out of pocket $970 in window units. My dog died of heat stroke. As of 8/27/2021 I have filed a lawsuit. Take my advice and do not use American Home Shield.

    On a Sunday I woke up to water pouring out of broken pipe next to water heater. I was able to turn off water. I contacted AHS who agreed was an emergency, did try & contact first company assigned but they could not reach anyone. Told me someone from "Expediate Team" would call in 4 hours. Of course they did not. I had to find my own plumber as was unable to even flush toilet. I called 5 days in a row, spoke to 5 different people overseas who promised a supervisor would call in 4 hours and each time was a lie. I tried reaching out on Twitter, got someone again not US based who did not seem to understand my issues. I looked up corporate office in TN but phone numbers listed go overseas as well. I am going to look for company that is actually US based & hopefully does not train its employees to outright lie.

    Would have given 0 stars if it would have let me. Our air conditioner broke and we paid the $100 for AHS to send a contractor. The contractor came and said we needed a new compressor. It took over 2 weeks for AHS to approve and order the part. When the contractor went to pick up the part AHS hadn't paid for it so they couldn't pick it up. We went back and forth with AHS for 2 more weeks and nobody would return our calls. Finally, after 4 weeks without air, we paid out of pocket for a new unit. When we called to cancel our contract with AHS they wouldn't refund us our $100 or any of our premiums and the woman refused to let me speak with anyone higher up, she said that nobody else would be able to help me. She also said that she couldn't guarantee that we wouldn't be penalized for cancelling our contract.

    Our refrigerator ice maker's fan went out and was no longer making ice. We submitted our claim to American Home Shield twice. We had someone come out and told us that it was the fan and he would order the part, and then we never heard from anybody. When we called to find out, they said, "Oh, they closed that ticket." So, they set us up a new appointment. It was just a couple of days before the second one came out. He seemed to know his stuff and got it done within an hour. The fridge is working very well now. We have ice. In circumstances like this when we were not ready to buy a new refrigerator, just trying to fix what we have helps.

    The front door of the oven broke. The tech was a lot faster this time to come out and it only took a couple of days. It's just that oven can't be repaired and so we have a new one coming tomorrow. Getting the appliance is what took a little bit longer, but that was also my fault. Nonetheless, this warranty saves me at least $3,000. We plan on extending. We just have to discuss it.

    My air conditioning was not getting cold and it was low on Freon. The guy came and fixed it then he charged it with Freon. He said AHS only covered $10 on Freon per pound, so I had to pay the rest. But that's fine. I'm really happy with AHS. The best part about it is peace of mind. If something breaks, I'll be able to sleep because I know I got somebody that will protect me and they will back me up. They are quick to get me technicians, and the technicians are professional. I like it. They took care of my problems.

    When I first submitted my claim for my dryer with AHS, it took about two weeks for the first tech to come. Then, it took about a week before they came back with a part, but that didn't fix it. So, then it was another 10 days, and they came back with another part, and that didn't fix it still. At that point, I contacted AHS again. They sent out Angel Appliances Repair. Angel came, looked at it and came back in a week and repaired it, and then it worked. They were awesome. But calling the American Home Shield number was frustrating. They were not really helpful. I explained my problem and they just seemed rather disinterested. A couple of the people were very hard to communicate with as well.

    Also, my understanding was after six weeks of all of this going on that, I thought that they would replace the dryer after I had waited so long and had two different repair people here for the first company. Then, they put three parts in and none of them worked. None of them made the dryer work. So, I felt like their policy of replacing something that couldn't be fixed should have been honored at that point. It was repaired after all that time and it is working right now. But that was no benefit to me. I was, all that time, without a dryer.

    We have one of those touchscreen thermostats which would not come on, and the air was not running at all. Our pan was full of water. When the repair people came out, they explained that the thermostat automatically kicks off because they have a sensor in the pan. So, as soon as there's water in it, it automatically kicks off the thermostat and turns the system off. I think the line was clogged up, too, because it's in a room that we don't use very often. Once they cleared the line, everything was up and running. It was a pretty easy fix, so that was good.

    The repair people were great. There were two of them and they were so nice and helpful. They gave me some tips on how to keep the line from clogging up again in the future, which was great. We've used AHS a lot for little things. We've had some drippy faucets and some AC issues. These are things that my husband probably would tackle himself on the weekend, but it's so nice to be able to have somebody come out and take care of it and not have to deal with it ourselves.

    With American Home Shield, making the request is fairly straightforward but I have to make one request at a time even if I have multiple issues. They send out an initial evaluator so a person comes out and analyzes the situation. Unless it's super trivial, they don't fix it on the first call and they send out additional people on separate calls. They're all right but it would be nice if they came out as a contractor ready to solve the problem rather than a multi-call situation where they don't call the expert until after somebody has made an assessment. Recently, I had issues with some outside lights. The contractor did an evaluation and determined that it was outside of the service warranty.

    I recommend AHS to everybody. Our experience hasn't always been great, but it usually has. My wife and I had to get a house for our daughter. She had gone through a divorce and it was COVID time. So, there could be no home inspections when we bought the house. We put American Home Shield on it for two years. Within a couple of weeks of her moving in, she had to have an electrical panel completely replaced. Then, she also had to have a water heater replaced. It went as smooth as could be both times with American Home Shield. So, that was really good. She had been going through a lot of difficulties with the divorce, so it was nice that that worked so smoothly.

    On July 18th, we had a water heater break in my house and it's been a disaster as far as the house goes. But American Home Shield came right through. They had a person come out and checked it over. It qualified for a replacement. So all that went through smoothly there. Just the rest of it hasn't gone through smoothly. My wife and I are still in a hotel and probably will be until January. They have to rip out a bunch of floors.

    However, three years ago, I had a guy come out to check my furnace. He said, “We're going to be needing to replace this at some point, probably. I gotta change all these bleeder valves.” He said he was gonna order new ones. He checked. I was qualified and I paid my $75 deductible. But I never saw him after that. He called me one time, a few weeks later and said, “I got your parts.” He called me at 8:15 and said, “I'll be there at your house in about 10 minutes.” I said, “No, my wife's at school, teaching and I'm just going out the door to head to an appointment out of town.” He said, “Just leave your house unlocked.” I said, “No, that's not gonna be the case. Just call me to reschedule.” Never heard from him again. So, in that case there, I paid for service and never got it.

    But I was surprised that at that point, American Home Shield never followed up with me to see how it went. I let them know a couple of times that person never came back, but never heard anything, still. But they came through for me this time. My son also used them at his house that he bought a couple years ago up in Erie and he had a furnace problem and they took care of it.

    I like American Home Shield's service. But I don't like dealing with them on the phone. I went through a couple of issues with having to talk to them and it was impossible to get to somebody who I could understand. I've started requesting service online now. Other than that, the contractor was very professional and they followed up. AHS is insurance that covers me if I have a big expense to have to replace something. We've had some furnace work done and they covered it. Use them.

    The claim process has been fine, so far. Budget HVAC recently checked the airflow of the heat pump in different rooms in the house. But the system isn't designed correctly so they couldn't do anything. If we repair it, we've got to tear apart walls and ceilings and that's not going to happen.

    I got the place back in July of this year and I wanted to change the keys. So the tech came in and changed the bolt. The bolt was very difficult to open and close. So with the rekey, everything went smooth afterward. It was like a double bonus. The tech was professional, friendly, and really quick. I only had one bolt to rekey and it took 10 minutes or less.

    I sent in a request for my garbage disposal. The plumber came in and assessed the food grinder as part of the sink. He told me that he couldn't get it fixed, so he replaced the unit. It works well now. There was another part of that ticket that has to do with my faucet handles for my bathtub. My faucet handles were all wonky. He checked it out and saw that the pieces were not part of the original structure. Unfortunately, he did not fix that. Last I heard was he was going to check with American Home Shield to see if that's something that they covered to replace or repair, but I haven't heard back since. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my experience with the rekey and the garbage disposal. But I was left hanging with the faucet thing.

    I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. I've used them several times over the past couple of years. I had a hot water line leak from my hot water heater inside my laundry room, and they came and repaired the leak on the pipe. The claims process went very well. It was a smooth and seamless process.     When there was some leak under the sink, the owner of the repair company came out and did a really good job right in the beginning. The person that did the work had a few more challenges but it got fixed. At the beginning of the summer, we put in a claim for an oven door and that was horrendously bad. The first party came out, looked at it, and left us high and dry. I had to talk to American Home Shield 10 times and my calls were going some place where I couldn't understand the person. I was trying to explain to them that even though the report said microwave, it wasn't the microwave. It was the oven glass door. The inside of the oven glass door shattered.

    The first guy that came out said the oven’s too old and they couldn't do anything about it. They don't have parts anymore. He said they'd get us a new one and get it taken care of. We waited and waited, and I called and called. Finally, after three weeks, someone at American Home Shield, said, “The only way we can solve this is to cancel this whole thing, give you your $100 and send out somebody new.” They sent out someone new from another company that had fixed our refrigerator. That guy was a dream. He did the work on time and had the part. He knows appliances so well. He is a very valuable technician to American Home Shield. He is perfect.

    I was having a problem with my back-up pump. It was beeping so I called American Home Shield. I specifically asked not to send Aaron because I've had problems with them in the past. But Aaron came out and it was an older gentleman. He came downstairs, looked at the unit and said he couldn't tell what was the matter with it because it was missing some pieces. I told him there were no pieces missing. It has been there since I moved in and nothing has happened to it. He said he was going to write it up that it was missing some pieces and that he'd give me a call back.

    From that day to this day, I have not heard anything from Aaron and I've called them twice. I called American Home Shield back and told them Aaron came out but did not do anything. Aaron reported it that I was missing pieces but I was not missing anything. I Googled the unit that I had and it said it was obsolete. What the technician was looking for was what they have on the more modern things but he never took the time to do that.

    American Home Shield sent Patel's Plumbing & Sewer. Patel's was spectacular. They were very responsive. When it was time for my appointment, they called to confirm it. I was very pleased with them. When they were here, they immediately told me the system is obsolete and they don't make these anymore. They said the battery power had gone out, that they were going to submit it and they were going to get a new one. They called me back about a week later and said American Home Shield had approved it. They made an appointment, came and put it in. The gentleman sat down with me and said, "This is your system. This is the battery part. This part goes in the wall. If it beeps, these lights should tell you what's the problem with it." He said if there were any problems, to give them a call and they would come out and look at it again. I am a single female homeowner and he took the time out to explain everything that was going on and answered all my questions.

    We heard a really loud noise and the fan broke from the air conditioning unit. So, the techs replaced the fan and they were very prompt. We were out of town and when we got back, they rescheduled the repair the next day. And we were very happy with their service. Submitting the claim with AHS was really easy, too. I did it online and I called them. Then, I got an email right away and the technician called me about 30 minutes after I got the email to set up a time. It was really quick and efficient. The cost of the warranty is very reasonable as well.

    When we purchased the house, we knew there was a water issue. It was called a leveling issue. Sunline came out and they decided they had to get a new part for the dishwasher. Once the tech put in the new part, he had to take off the side of the dishwasher. But during the third visit, it was still leaking and there was still a real problem. So he put in a request to have the dishwasher replaced. It was hard to get in touch with the tech. It took us about a couple of phone calls before we got in touch with him. But when he came out a couple of times, he was very responsive and he did a great job, even though we couldn't get the dishwasher fixed.

    We're not using American Home Shield's replacement system because it doesn't have anything that's suitable for our needs. I had to call them to get the claim re-evaluated because we have a custom front-panel dishwasher and they only put in for a regular dishwasher. But once I talked to the person at American Home Shield, they resolved it and they gave us a bit more money. But they still didn't put in any recommended replacements that they could do that would satisfy the requirements that we have. So I'm having to buy one myself, and I'm doing payment in lieu of them doing it. I'll get the dishwasher purchased and installed, get the warranty, and then send the paperwork in so I can be reimbursed. It's more work.

    I called American Home Shield to ask them what was covered under the policy. I asked if our fans were covered and the rep said, “No.” She also said, “Well, now that you've mentioned that it, even if you bought the upgraded package, you can't have your fans covered.” I don't even know what the hell that means. But in any event, I ended up upgrading the package because I wanted to make sure that if anything happens to my house in the first year, I want to see if I can have it covered. Other than that, I was skeptical about these kinds of home warranties. But so far, or at least for this first situation, American Home Shield came through.

    I was having problems with my dishwasher, and Coastline Appliance came and looked over everything, and they said more than one part is at fault. So, they reported to AHS, and I haven't heard from them yet. This was a second opinion. The first person said that he wanted us to have a second opinion. It's been two months without a dishwasher. American Home Shield needs to expedite the process.

    The refrigerator went out and we had four different technicians that came out. The first one said it was the fan and he didn't specialize for that in LGs so American Home Shield asked for someone else. The next day, we had another one that stated it was the compressor. He didn't have one on them, and he would consider it as a loss because it's an expensive part. Then, someone else came out and confirmed that it was the compressor.

    We also had another guy come out and confirmed it was a compressor. It just so happen that he specializes in LG. His company had a compressor on hand with them so he said he was gonna submit the order American Home Shield and if they approve it, then he'd come the next day and install it. He spoke with someone saying that the compressor was really expensive. They were gonna just pay it out. But he said that they don't have the cheap one and so the AHS rep said if he could fix it, then just go ahead. The next day, the compressor was installed in less than half an hour. It's been working great since.

    American Home Shield was on task. Every single day someone from them or from the repair guys would be calling to check if anyone else came out for a second opinion or third opinion. We've been speaking to our neighbors that they should get this warranty because this really helps us no matter what. We had an issue with our AC, and now we have issue with our refrigerator, and it was well worth it. Every penny that we poured into American Home Shield benefitted us 110%.

    I had to get a mitigation involved and what had to be done was to dry out everything and that didn't work out. So, the repair guy from Merrill Building took so long to come out and repair the holes in the wall. He was patient and I kept informing him what was going on. I also had claim with American Home Shield for a leak and the first time the plumbing people came out, they said it was an air conditioning issue. So, I had to wait five days later for the air conditioning people to come out. When the air conditioning people came out, they kept saying it was a plumbing issue. So it took five times for the plumbing people to fix the issue. This one made me want to cancel American Home Shield because with a situation like this, they wait 48 hours to come out and repair instead of doing it within the next day. A lot of other things has been damaged in your house by the time they come out. Then when they come out, they give you the run around. It's a mess.

    The tech could've come out and see if it's an air conditioner leak before they told me to cut my air conditioner off. It was 103 degrees and I had to do that for four days, and it wasn't even an air conditioner issue. I had another issue with my bathroom and I called on Thursday but the repair guy couldn't come out till Monday. So, I had to go a whole week without using my bathroom. I understand this is the pandemic but if AHS wants to keep people in their program, they need to do better and be more consistent with their work.

    I had issues on my AC and my microwave. On both issues, the techs sent by AHS were very acknowledgeable and they seemed like they knew exactly what they were doing and got right to the issue. On the air conditioner, the person who was here, tried something outside, on the condenser and he tried something inside, in the HVAC system. He eventually concluded that he wasn't sure exactly what the problem was. But there were a lot of places where the wire had been put together, wire knots, which was not after the market, but he retightened some of those. After he did some of those things like that, it started working.

    He told me, “In 30 days if it's still not working, let us know. Because it'd still be under the same claim number.” But right now, it's been working and it's been two weeks ago. He also said, “I'll have to order a new circuit board or circuit panel. It'll probably take about two weeks because of COVID. We can’t get parts near as fast as we used to.” Since then, I have had an email telling me what they were doing. So I'm satisfied. They're communicating with me. I'd recommend AHS to other people.

    Our showerhead was leaking intermittently. American Home Shield sent out the plumber just to see if he could address that. The contractor called me at 4:45 on Friday, and I tried to call them back immediately. I left a message but they never followed up. I had to chase it down. Other than that, the plumber fixed it quickly and we haven't had any issues since. American Home Shield has been good.     American Home Shield's online portal is really easy to use. I was able to go in there and report some issues around my house pretty easily. I liked that they lump everything together so you only have to pay your service fee one time per category. Then I was contacted by the service center that they assigned to my issues very quickly. The guy who came out was really good at what he did. He came in and pulled appliances apart in a way that I didn't even know you could do that. I thought he was gonna get electrocuted the whole time. Also, he was the sweetest kind of guy. He was very quiet and did his thing. He came out a few times. He worked really hard trying to solve my issues.

    He couldn't figure out the issues so he ended up telling American Home Shield that I needed new appliances. I thought they were going to try to give me a $500 Walmart appliance that was going to break after three uses. But they actually gave me a really comfortable amount to spend on replacements. It was very fair. The ordering process for new appliances was great. When I called customer service and talked to them a few times about my options and how to get the stuff ordered, it was pretty much the nicest customer service. With most companies, customer service goes to another country, and sometimes, it's difficult to understand each other. But American Home Shield sends us somewhere in the Midwest, and it's the nicest customer service people I've ever dealt with. I live in a pretty remote area and American Home Shield was the only choice here. But I’m very happy with them. They're doing a great job.

    I put in an order for my air conditioner and they sent me a contractor who gave me a quote of 3800 that I have to pay out of pocket. They said that the compressor went out so I called another company to come out and see if that was what they were saying it was, and it was not. My compressor was fine. The AC was leaking oil so it was not even the compressor. It was something else that was not going to cost that much so I never talked to them again.

    American Home Shield haven't called me back. I tried getting ahold of them and there was no answer. I wish they would communicate and let me know what's going on. The machine says to call the person that came down to do my air conditioner but they lied to me and I don't even know if I want to do business with them anymore. I wanted to tell somebody that these people are frauds and they're making up stuff. These young kids didn't know what they were doing. With this last order that I put in, I'm not happy with it at all. AHS should cover some of this cost and not dump it on me. But I never had problems with any other claims. Lake Plumbing was great. The guy did a good job.

    I wished I would have read reviews before I purchased a contract. I read other people reviews on different sites and I'm going through the same problems. I been with them over a year and now I need my Air conditioning fix and they keep saying the same thing, it is not covered when my contract says otherwise and if you google my plan it says what I need done is covered. I called them over 8 times and the agents are all reading from the same script just to lead you on. If you call all the different phone numbers on the internet listed for them it is all directed to 1 phone. Those reviews are not real. I just filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They responded to me and they forward my information telling them they have 14 days to respond. They are a true scam. This is so unfair. I have a baby at home and I have chronic asthma and it has been 90 plus degrees almost daily.

    When my dryer quit working, AHS sent someone out, but he couldn't fix it. It wasn’t a problem with my dryer, it was a problem with my electrical.     Every time I call to file a claim with American Home Shield, I would get passed to another agent because it would be something outside of the scope of the first one. Then, I would have to repeat my full name, property address, email address, and telephone number. After the second time, that got kind of annoying. But when the contractors come out for service, it's been very good. Most of our interactions with American Home Shield have been with appliances and Star Services come out for those. I showed them where the appliance is and they did the troubleshooting. Then, they told me what they thought it was and what their recommendation to American Home Shield would be.

    I had an experience with American Home Shield in a different city in 2008 and it was way highly unsatisfactory. Now, they're more willing to live up to their contract. I had an appliance replaced where I utilized the American Home Shield buying power. I paid the difference to what I wanted it to be and that worked out very well. Another time, I took the cash payment and then replaced what was there with the exact same model with an additional $200 or $300 of my own money, whereas American Home Shield wouldn't match the aesthetics. They found a like capacity but they wouldn't match the brand name but that was okay.

    The AC unit was running but it wasn't cooling the house. So, I put in a call to American Home Shield for service, and JFrank came out and changed the capacitor, and it was back to functioning again. I've used the service quite a bit. We've had AHS for about a year and a half and I've had some good experiences and some difficult experiences. One of them was especially related to our plumbing. Our plumbing was stopped up and ready to flood, and we couldn't use our toilets, and we kept getting a runaround. They couldn't find a contractor to assign to us because it was a weekend, and they kept putting us off. They kept telling me, “Well, you have to wait 24 to 48 hours.” It was like, “I'm sorry, I can't wait 24 to 48 hours to use the toilet.” But that was the worst experience I had. I had to call that 800 number at least a dozen times to finally get a response and get them to allow me to go out and get my own contractor.

    I called in for service yesterday on something that just happened on my dishwasher. I was quite aggravated that they were wanting to force me to do a video diagnosis. I didn't agree to that when I signed my contract or when I upped my contract. The woman on the line kept pushing, “Well, this would be faster.” It was like, “No, it's more work for me.” Diagnosis is why I pay for the American Home Shield. I don't want to stand there holding a camera and going through this process. That's what I'm paying them for. So, I'm not going to do video diagnosis. That to me is just the company trying to cut corners and save money. I want a technician to come out and do the diagnosis.

    What was aggravating is in all the literature that's come out about this in the emails and stuff that I've seen, it says that this is an option. What I didn't appreciate is that it was treated like it wasn't an option, and I had to fight with her to get her to just send out a technician. I shouldn't have to fight with something that's optional.

    We spent a lot of time researching warranties. We looked at about five different home warranty companies and of all of those, we've found that American Home Shield seem to have the best coverage. And so far, I have been pleased with the coverage and that there hasn't been anything that they've refused to cover. If I was talking to somebody who was going to buy it, it’s like, “Okay, find out if they’ll let you upgrade to different plans.” One of the things that I was told was that they were coming out with an upgrade plan where you could get better coverages on things. If I was a new customer, I could get that. But they wouldn't allow me as an existing customer to get that plan without a 30-day no service period.

    So, I would warn folks that when they're signing up for these home warranties that unless they're doing it at the time of a purchase of a home, they're going to take the responsibility for anything that happens in the first 30 days. The warranty is not going to cover it. Personally, if I didn't get this warranty when I was buying my house and the coverage was starting on the day I moved in, I wouldn't buy it. I'm not going to pay for a coverage after I had been there for 30 days and all the problems have happened. I don't like that part of the policy. You're paying them premium, so they should be willing to cover you from the day you start paying the premium.

    When my water heater was replaced by American Home Shield, I was ecstatic. When they were on the side of "We don't cover," I was kind of disappointed. But then again, I've called on a couple of backups, stoppages, and toilet replacements, and those have all been handled well. Overall, I do believe that it's a good benefit because it curves my expenses, so I don't have to pay like for the water heater, which was a giant cost at the time, especially if we're not ready to pay that.     My dryer stopped working and the tech came out three days after I made a claim which was pretty fast. He explained to me what could have been going on and what he was going to do to try to fix it. In the end, he couldn't fix it because a piece was needed and they don't make it anymore because the machine was old. Right now, AHS is working on the replacement. Unfortunately, they don't have any dryer available in the area that would be equal to the one that I had. But they told me that they're going to get a shipment tomorrow. I would have to pay a lot more for a brand-new appliance if I didn't have AHS and I feel like I can rely on them.

But he gave me only 15 minutes to contact American Home Shield when I had a question about the charges that he was charging me. He said that they were instructed to leave within 15 minutes. And in 15 minutes he started packing his stuff. But then, I got lucky and someone from American Home Shield answered.

    There was a company that came out to do my washer and dryer that I wasn't too satisfied with. The tech didn't do a good job and he was in a hurry. I had to tell him to do stuff. If I hadn't watched him, he wouldn't have done it right. My dryer was making noises and he was supposed to quiet it down. I have to shift it when I use it now to move it around and get it quiet.

    In the last two weeks, I had a small claim that was dealt with very quickly. I had an issue with my air conditioning. I told the young lady at American Home Shield that I'm 76 years old and diabetic and she had somebody assigned for the next morning. That is not typically the way it works but they are being responsive if the customers tell them that there is a medical issue or an age issue, particularly with HVAC. I was really proud of everybody on that last claim.

    I've been a customer for a very long time and prices continue to increase. I had a claim with a stovetop a year or so ago and American Home Shield said it was customer neglect. It was very obvious that the appliance kind of died from the inside out, not from being hit. So I demanded to have a second opinion and the tech said it needed to be replaced. It should have been replaced the first time I called and was declined. The next time, I got a little more aggressive. So they resolved that issue. But the biggest thing is that the amount of money that they are collecting is pretty intense for today's market.

    If you think about AHS as a savings account, you're more prone to be a little happier with the service. Because you're really paying them for an insurance policy when something goes wrong and it's all built upon the actuarial charts to the company's advantage. Because they get to use your money most of the time for a very long time. If you do the same thing at a bank in a savings account that you're not touching, you could probably come out better. But that still doesn't give you instant access to a variety of vendors that do the actual service.

    The hose that comes from the humidifier and the furnace backed up. It was filled with water and gunk and it was leaking. So, I turned the AC off for the night and it was super hot.     I had intermittent power outages around the house. Lights would come on half power or they wouldn't turn on at all. They alternated in-between. I had ceiling fans but I didn't have air conditioning. And when it's 100 degrees, ceiling fans don't cut it inside the house. My air conditioner wasn't running because it wasn't getting enough power. I work from home and I was able to work but not comfortably. It was bad. The claims process seemed easy although I was a little worried because the choices were different online. My wife didn’t know that I submitted one and she was gonna submit too. She called me to ask what I chose and she named a bunch of choices. But when I got it on my phone, I only had three choices and I couldn’t remember exactly what it was. So, the reps from American Home Shield had to call, which wasn't that big of a deal. They asked me what was going on and they were very prompt, professional and quick. I was impressed with them.

    Everyday Electric came out and diagnosed the problem quickly. It turned out not to be a home problem but it was Xcel's problem, which is a local electric provider. They talked to the Xcel person in the right lingo to say what was happening and then, Xcel came out promptly and it got fixed. I've had good experiences as well as okay experiences with people coming out that contract with AHS but Everyday Electric did a good job. They didn't mess around. They got right to it and figured it out promptly. It was my best experience with anyone coming out from AHS. I had such a positive experience because I was desperate to get electricity back on.

    I was having trouble with the water heating up. The tech figured out that it was because the water wasn't running out as fast as it should be. He took a piece out of it and changed out the flow thing. It made it run perfectly. It was so quick. It was amazing. The difficulty I had with this claim was calling in and getting the person to dispatch the plumber. It seemed like she was trying to make it so the claim wasn't covered. It took a long time. She was not understanding me. We had difficulty understanding each other's language. It got very complicated.

    As cumbersome as it may be, in places like American Home Shield, you need to read the contract. It's a legal document. If you don't know anything about certain issues within your home, which most people don't, they make you become a professional in it. Because they look for any way to disqualify you from coverage. So you have to really know how to read every bit of the contract before you decide to go with them.

    We had a leak and there was water under the AC unit. The first that the tech came, he said he had to go back and give his findings to the office, and he came back a second day and taped up the leak. He said it wasn't insulated properly and he had to wrap the coils with some silver tape. Then he had to go inside with the insulation and tape it to keep it from leaking. The previous contractor that came out for the AC should have insulated the inside and the tubes there in the ceiling that he had to re-tape. He also said he hopes it holds because if it freezes up, it may cause some condensation. So it's a wait-and-see type deal.

    Last year, I had to call American Home Shield for our AC unit and another guy came out and he took a blowtorch and put it against the coils. He found a couple holes that he patched up. That helped a lot because they kept the upstairs a little cooler because it will be 79 upstairs and the AC unit is on 72. He said we needed a whole new system, and then he was giving a quote about what they could do. But we couldn't take that cost. So he did the best he could for what he was allowed to do. We were told the previous year that the problem was the coils so we had to purchase brand new coils and it cost us about $1,400 out of pocket. Everything that AHS does is really good, but when it comes to AC units, it's patch-up job.

    We love the claims process. If we didn’t have American Home Shield, we’d spend a lot more money than what we have been spending. We had an extreme amount of gas smell that was coming from our oven. The contractor went in and pulled out our stove, and checked the line to make sure there was no hole coming from the hose itself. They told us that it was a part that needed to be replaced. On the other hand, the AC repair guys told us that we needed to purchase a whole new unit, which didn't make any sense to us. It worked fine when we purchased the home. It’s just not cooling the house properly. The claim has been closed and we're going to get a second opinion and have somebody else come out before we purchase a whole new AC unit.

    Our initial issue had to do with the icemaker and water machine within the refrigerator. 1st Choice came out and the icemaker was fixed, but then the water didn't work. I called them back out, and they were prompt with that. They came out to fix the water. Then it started leaking, so then I called them out again. They fixed the leak. Then they just had to come out again. The water had stopped working again. When the tech came out, he said that the reason the water wasn't working was because somebody had changed the temperature setting on the icemaker, but the only people that are in the house are myself and my wife. It's all resolved now though. We don't have any more issues with it at this point. They seemed to be willing to come out as quickly as I made the claim. They called me pretty promptly and we set up something, and they got it taken care of.

    When the guy came out here, he said it's hard for them to distinguish what is actually wrong with the refrigerator by the selections that you make when you check a box on the American Home Shield screen. I told my wife, "Well, the only box there, it says refrigerator/icemaker." You can't distinguish between the water or the icemaker or just the fridge. Maybe it would be good to have an additional selection there on the menu to single out what the actual problem is or a location where you can explain what the actual issue is and add a note to the service you’re gonna request. Other than that, generally, the subs that American Home Shield uses seem to be pretty dependable.

    When I call American Home Shield, the responses are good. There's not a very long delay to get whatever I need to be fixed dealt with. The service technician who came once for the water heater and another time for the sink was very efficient and prompt. The only issues I have are the expenses. The water heater cost me 400 plus some dollars out of my pocket. Also, there's a deductible of $100 that I have to pay. Then after that, the technician says, "Well, my price for labor is not totally covered by AHS. So you have to cover the difference."

    You need to figure out who the contractors are and research them carefully before using them and go through American Home Shield's list of contractors. Because I wasn't impressed with some of the ones that they wanted to send my way. I was on the phone with them and I had them pull up the names. I looked at their ratings and their locations. Some of them were not even anywhere near where I live. Other than that, American Home Shield's website was user-friendly. My recent claim was a bathroom exhaust fan that wasn't working. The tech replaced the motor and did a great job. I would recommend that contractor and use them again.

    Something happened to the circuits and the lights of my refrigerator. You couldn't stand to open the refrigerator because it was like a strobe light that was blinding. I did a claim online and I got quick action. A tech diagnosed the situation, ordered the parts, and said they would be delivered directly here. By the time the parts were delivered, it was approximately a week and a half before the tech came back to actually install the new light.

    When I first signed up with American Home Shield 25 years ago, they were the only home warranty company that I had ever heard of. It was suggested by our real estate agent because we purchased a much older farmhouse and the appliances were old. When we lived on a farm and we were in a very rural area, there were times that I had difficulty with American Home Shield finding someone that would come out of Richmond or out of Fredericksburg. When we had those issues, American Home Shield would give me the authority to find someone on my own and they would either reimburse me or the contractor would agree to bill them. Through those times, it wasn't really difficult but it just took longer. Here at my new home, I have no difficulty with submitting my request. We've been here for six years. I've had to call American Home Shield a few times and had no problem.

    I referred business to American Home Shield and my daughter was one of them. She's had some problems. Right now, she's trying to cancel her contract and for some reason, it's been very difficult for her to do that because American Home Shield keeps wanting payment and she keeps telling them she's not gonna pay. She was threatened the last time with being turned over to a collections agency. I told my daughter that was unusual. In all these years, I've never had any real rudeness. Everybody has been polite and understanding. I have never had anyone argue with me about anything when I had to call American Home Shield. She must be getting people that were just rude. On the whole, I would still recommend American Home Shield.

    We had a drain line leak under our kitchen sink. The bathroom sink also leaked. Then, when we turned the shower on, the spigot leaked when the showerhead was running. Nussbaumer Plumbing came first and that was not a good experience. The plumber replaced the washer on the drain line under the kitchen sink and that fixed that problem. He went to the bathroom and said that the access panel for the shower needed a new diverter. Now, we have an access panel inside of the linen closet. He said it did not reach up high enough and so he would charge $500 to $800 for us out of pocket to cut a hole in the drywall to get to where he needed to be.

    Then he said that the faucet in the bathroom is older. AHS would either replace the whole thing or give him parts to use and those parts would be generic-y and plasticky and yucky. In his opinion, if my husband and I would go out and buy a sink, that would be much better for him to do the work, and he would just do that. It was really difficult to distill from our conversation while he was here what was covered and what wasn't. I was so confused and I didn't know what to do. I’m reading my contract and it says one thing, while he’s telling me another. I reached out to AHS and they were saying that it was not the plumber’s business to tell me that while he was at the house. His job is to come, diagnose what needs done, write up an estimate, send it to AHS, and AHS will let me and the plumber know what's covered. In reading my contract, the access was covered up to $1,000 and then returning back to a drywall finish.

    The company was supposed to call me back, write up an eligible estimate that I could look over with my husband, and pass on to AHS. This went on for a week and a half back and forth, and the phone calls. I decided to call AHS back on my own and talk to the representatives and see what's happening. They said that Nussbaumer called and told them that I created access to the shower, broke open my own drywall, and then broke my plumbing, so they would not cover any of those. It was a circular argument. I was frustrated and I was telling the lady that I certainly didn't do that. She was like, “Are you calling them a liar?” I was like, “Well, I guess.” She then said that I would have to get a second opinion. I asked if I have to pay another deductible and she said she didn't know. It was terrible and I was so angry.

    Then I reached to Nussbaumer back after I had that conversation. There were three people there that I talked to, Erica. Briana, and then Jordan, the technician. Briana wasn't able to help me with any technical questions that I had, but Erica was. When I called back, I asked for Erica. I also asked when did they review the estimate and I let them know what was happening about us ripping our walls apart. The lady wasn't easy to talk to and so I told her to have Erica call me back as she's familiar with what's going on. She put me on hold for 15 minutes and then she got back to me saying Erica's with another customer and she’d call me back and I was fine with that.

    An hour or so later, Jordan, the plumber, called me back saying he waited so long to call me back. He just got off the phone with his boss who was furious about what the warranty company told me that they said. He said he was totally wrong about the diverter in my shower. It doesn't just need that one part. His boss told him that that piece is a one-piece apparatus and can't just switch out a diverter or a valve, and AHS won't cover that. I just thanked him for telling me that.

    At this point I knew I have to get an estimate from Nussbaumer for Greg and Andrew from the warranty company to really understand how they're treating AHS customers, what they're telling people is out of pocket versus covered, like something unethical is going on. I also talked to my dad on the phone about all this drama. He looked the company up on Yelp and told me to read their reviews. When I read it, half of that stuff came out of Jordan’s mouth to me with all the bait and switch with the pricing. Everything that people complained about happened to me. I called my dad back and he said that I should not let them back in my home.

    Yesterday, Resolve Services LLC came out for a second opinion. They got their tools out and started to work. Two hours later, they said they needed to get the older parts replaced, and they were not sure they would find them right away but they would shop for them until they find them for me. I wrote down some places for them to try and they left. They first went to Etna and they went to Oakmont then they came back. They found what they needed at a place in Oakmont and replaced everything with parts. Everything was fixed. They didn't have to create access. They said everything was covered by the warranty too. They did a great job. It's all working.

They found that the evaporative coil needed to be replaced and they got that done within a few days. They did a wonderful job and they were fast.     GM Appliance Repair came out for the dryer and fixed it. I used it two days and the next day, it broke again. They came back out and said that the part they replaced underneath it broke so they had to order a part. I had to call and ask them when the part was gonna come in. They called me back and made an appointment to come and finish fixing it. Then they were gonna keep the ticket open because when they finished fixing it the second time, the washing machine wouldn't work. It would just start on the spin cycle and cut off. I couldn't understand that so I called and said it broke again. He just laughed and said it was working. But I kept trying, and it was like it had to catch up with what they did, and it started working. The only thing that I don't like with Home Shield is when they replace something that I already paid money for, they give a cheaper kind.

    We picked American Home Shield because I worked with a property management company previously, and I had a lot of experience submitting claims through American Home Shield for a variety of homes. And it was a positive experience then. Recently, our washing machine was not working. I did a livestream with the company beforehand, before she sent somebody out, just so the technician could see it. It was having a couple of problems.     I have faithfully paid my premiums (approximately $45 per month, each property) on three different properties for several years, plus have recommended AHS home warranties to many of my real estate clients in the past (sorry about that!!!). I have had one somewhat successful (at least for a while) service call on one of the properties--minor repair to the water heater that lasted for a few more months. I've since replaced it at my own expense.

    The only other service I've asked for has been on the AC at my rental house. My poor tenants put up with the unit (heat pump) malfunctioning in the winter--had a service call (paid $75) in December, and he did not fix it. Weather warmed up so tenants didn't complain. Same unit (AC portion) malfunctioning during major heat wave (100 deg.+) the following May. They couldn't get the house cooler than 87-90 deg. I called and was put off three times (rescheduled or canceled) by the horrible one-and-only AC company (Lam-Air) that AHS contracts (colludes) within this area.

    When Tech finally did show up in June, he told us that the unit really needed to be replaced since the compressor was burned out, among other problems, but rolled his eyes when I asked if he would report that diagnosis to AHS. So, the unit was never fixed, and I was strung along and ignored for some while, making multiple phone calls to AHS and Lam-Air, waiting for replies, and getting absolutely nowhere. My claim was finally (sometime early August) turned over to their Media person in their Escalation Department, whatever that is. He at first seemed attentive and focused on helping me; he gave me authorization to find my own AC repair company since they contract with only that one inferior company (there are at least 30 in this area). I followed AHS's instructions: At my expense ($190), got two additional companies to come out, give diagnoses (both said "Replace"), and give quotes for new units (ranged between $8k and $10K).

    I submitted the paperwork two weeks ago, and I'm still getting the run-around. My Media person said he could not authorize those amounts and would have to send someone else out. From where? Lam-Air again? Obviously, they are instructed by AHS to not recommend replacement, even though AHS's advertising and contract PROMISES to replace if a system cannot be repaired.

    Note that three AC technicians (2 of them from local, very reputable companies) say the unit needs to be repaired because replacing the compressor is extremely expensive as are other repairs that an older system such as this will need shortly. In other words, it's more economical to replace than repair--not rocket science, just common sense. Anyway, my patience is just about to run out, and I will definitely take legal action against this phony baloney, scammer company.

    Read the other reviews online--there is definitely a pattern here. Many, many more negative reviews than positive, by far! Don't purchase a warranty with them. The only thing they're good at is collecting your money and avoiding you when you have a problem! As I've told them ad nauseam, this is a also a serious health issue. Southern Oregon is experiencing record high temperatures this summer, in addition to Extreme High Level Smoke from Oregon and California fires. AHS does not care, and evidently does not plan to stand behind their promises. This company should be fined and put out of business for insurance fraud. Their poor customers should all be reimbursed in a class action suit, in my opinion.

It is apparent that an American Home Shield Warranty is not worth the paper it is written on.

    I put in a service request for AC on August 6th. It took a solid week for them to get someone out. In the meantime I had an HVAC company out to diagnose the problem. I also talked to 2 other HVAC technicians who told me the same thing that they did. Once the technician that American Home Shield sent out finally got there he confirmed what the others had told me, which in a nut shell, was that if American Home Shield had done a job that they did at my home in March of this same year correctly that the issue I am having now would not have happened.

    AHS has agreed to pay for coils that they should have installed in March but they are charging me $938 in out of pocket expenses for something that is their fault. I have talked to their representatives 3 times asking to speak to a supervisor. I was finally told on August 19th that I would hear from one in 24 to 48 hours. Today is August 25th. I am very disappointed in the lack of communication and response and I am very upset that I am paying for something that should have never happened and would not have if American Home Shield had done the job correctly the first time.

    Overall, American Home Shield is pretty good. However, we've had bad experiences with plumbers. They started charging us $1,000. We ended up paying one of them $2,000 and the problem was still not fixed. So, I called American Home Shield and told them they need to quit sending certain companies out. We have a pipe that got clogged and the plumber won't unclog it. Now, they want another $800. This pipe is right under my house which is up on stilts so the plumber could walk right under there. He said he was gonna come back and do it but he never did. If we have to call a plumber again, it's a waste of money because we pay $75 for our deductible but we end up paying a lot more. And we have nice new pipes down there. It's just something in this one pipe. And the guy that charged us the 2,000 said, "Oh, you'll never have this problem again. I fixed it." He was a liar.

    Other than that everything else has been good. Recently, the AC was not keeping the house cool. That issue was addressed well. The techs fixed it within five minutes. Make sure you keep your air conditioning unit up to date and things serviced as they're supposed to be. Because if the warranty company comes in and finds something hasn't been serviced properly, like with changing filters out, they're not going to cover it. I learned that from Choice Home Warranty when we had them in Oklahoma.

    It seemed like there was a disconnect upstairs because the air was not really pushing out of one of my rooms. I was trying to find out if the ducts were disconnected down in the basement next to the furnace. I did a claim to American Home Shield and they sent somebody out. The tech told me that I could try to get an attachment to go on the unit. He also went to a couple of my outlets, my intake vents, and showed me where there was a slight disconnect, and told me what I could do to fix it because he doesn't do that. I could also just pay them to come back. One of the ducts had dropped down a little upstairs, and he said I could do it, or they would tear out the wall. I didn't want the wall torn out. So, he gave me a quick solution for it. So, I did that but I'm still having the same issue.

    Mae Dae Electric did well. My outlet had went out and even though it wasn't covered under the warranty so I had to pay out of pocket for some stuff, they did what they were supposed to do. The outlet was outside and AHS considers that not being covered expenses. They only cover outlets inside the house. For some stuff, sometimes, you feel like you're kind of paying for nothing but American Home Shield is worth it. It's good for homeowners because it does cover a lot of the less severe things. But if the problem is something that may be more than you probably anticipated, you're gonna have to find somebody else to do it for you or pay the expensive price that is given to you when a contractor comes out.

    Sometimes, for certain services, the wait is ridiculous. I had to get a plumber out. Plumbing is a little bit higher-demand which I understand but it takes forever to get them come out. When you put a claim in, it may take a week and a half to two weeks. Then when they come out, they can't do this or you got to pay out of pocket for this. It’s a headache. I wouldn't be waiting a week for something that couldn't get fixed. I did get my shower unclogged but my main problem was my drain was backed up and they were trying to charge me almost $1,000 because they said it wasn't covered. I also experienced contractors telling me different things. A plumber told my girlfriend different things at different prices then he got on the phone with me and all the prices dropped.

    I had a toilet claim and Whitney T Holdings came out within two days. They fixed the issue but another issue started occurring. Now, when I flush the toilet, the water just continues running down and inside the toilet so I would need to kind of press it again so that the water stops. Also, I had an issue with my icemaker and the guy who came told me that I had to turn on and off my ice machine every day and that nothing was wrong with it.     The freezer top was freezing a little bit. My food was freezing, but it wasn't hard. It was like the ice wouldn't freeze all the way. I called Home Shield and then the contractor that they sent out wouldn't do Whirlpool. So they had to get another one out. The tech said he was so backed up but he would me in three days later.     I couldn't get the air conditioners to work right, and there were two separate air conditioners. They were coming on by themselves. RR HVAC came and put the thermostat up in one and told me that they would be on manuals, so I could just have them come on when I want them to come on. After they had left, the downstairs one was coming on at 3 o'clock in the morning till I would get up at 6:00 in the morning. My neighbor had mentioned it to me because it was waking his daughter up whose bedroom is by the side of the house.

    I called the company and left a message saying that the thermostat downstairs was also defective because it was coming on randomly. I got a callback from some guy in the company who was irate with me and was blaming everything on me. I lost my temper and cursed him and told him not to call again. About 10 minutes later, the guy called back and accused me of trying to get a free thermostat and told me to figure it out.

    Then the girl that I spoke with originally, that called me about the whole thing, called me 20 minutes after this guy went ballistic on me. She asked if anybody got back to me and if not, she would schedule somebody to come out. I started telling her the story and she couldn't believe it. She asked if I knew who I talked to. But she said a lot of their calls go to a call center and so she was going to try to find out who that person was. She was super nice, and then was going to give me a callback, but I never heard back from her. I was thinking maybe it was the owner of the company that was cussing me out. ​I haven't called American Home Shield since then.

    I ended up making the problem worse because I tried to replace the thermostat myself. I took the old one off and put the new one on. All the lighting worked and it would say it was cooling, but it wouldn't kick on the actual air conditioner, even though it was saying that it was on. So then I took that one off and put the old one back on. Now, there's no power. I have to get an electrician to see if there's something wrong with the electricity or wiring. We haven't had air conditioning for about 10 days now. I would tell American Home Shield not to send that company to my house again. But my experience with American Home Shield was fantastic.

We spent an extra 100 bucks and got an electrician out here but the electrician said it was not the electricity. We played tap games for at least two days and eventually, we gave up on that because they kept passing us back and forth. I asked American Home Shield to send a different company and they completely refused and said they have to close the ticket and recharge me. We ended up not even going with American Home Shield.     I said the unit was freezing up because it had ice on there and it wasn't working. The contractor came out on the 13th. And when the tech looked at it, he just went to the backyard, did whatever he did, and then said it was fixed, it started working, and that was it. He must have added their Freon, and then left. But then, it started doing the same thing. So, I put in another order because it wasn't repaired. I paid the $75, and then they came back and gave me a different diagnosis. He said there was a part that needed to be replaced. They had to order it. But he came out on a Monday and we're still waiting on parts. I get it. But I called and they didn't even call me back to say, "Hey, we're still waiting on the part." It's a gap. We are in the 90-something degrees weather. Other than that, it was a great interaction because they responded well. And they came out quick.

    When I call a call center, the rep who answers is not very good with English. I can't understand what they're saying all the time. American Home Shield should have better speaking representatives. I've been with them since I bought my home. That's over 15 years now. I thought about the years I didn't use it. So, me just paying money to it. This time, I'm gonna question if I'm gonna keep it or not. But, so far, I pay because the contractors usually come out, resolve the issue, and I would be like, "Okay, this is why I had this." I'm just waiting to see what's gonna happen with this.

    We reported that the upstairs AC unit wasn’t cooling. The tech came out and did something. But after a couple of days, we noticed it still wasn't cooling that well. I did call the contractor's dispatch and let them know. I left a message but they didn't call or come out in a couple days. I tried to do it online through American Home Shield but the system won't let me do it without paying again. So my wife called American Home Shield and got it set back up. When the tech came out the second time, he had to order parts. A coil was leaking and we are going to be charged $600 to change the coil.

    We also had a claim for the pool heater and it was a big fight. It took too long to get resolved and American Home Shield wouldn't have done that if we didn't blast them on Facebook. Most of the contractors were good. But one thing that's a big issue with American Home Shield is water heaters. They will only cover $75 of it, and their contractors always want to come out. I've had to replace a water heater three times. The contractors want to charge me $500 every time they come out. Ever since American Home Shield had an ownership change, the service has been lacking and the upcharges from the contractors have been extremely excessive.

Right now, they'll be delivered. I also had a claim for the dishwasher. The only thing was, the techs didn't have the parts so they’re gonna come Wednesday. But I didn't hear from them.     The AC was not turning on at all. When I first noticed it was warming up inside and I went out to check on it, it was making a very loud screeching noise. Then it quit doing that and then there was nothing at all. I called American Home Shield at about 9:00 in the morning, and someone was here at 5:00 that evening which was wonderful because it was a super hot day. The tech was very nice and very professional. I had a few questions on maintenance after he got it fixed, and he answered all my questions. With AHS, it's good being able to get someone out to make a repair and have a company that stands behind their work. Plus there are no unexpected expenses, you're gonna pay $100 deductible. My refrigerator also went out and they replaced it. I haven't gotten the check yet but it's nice to not have a sudden expense like that.

    We were having problems with our disposal. We could hear the motor running but it wouldn't turn. It was late when I put the claim in and AHS called back the next morning and had someone out by 10:00. It was a very quick response. The techs found that the disposal needed replacing. I had to go to work at 11:00 and they said they would see what they could do. They called in and waited for a response but they knew the disposal was not fixable.     I had a refrigerator that was no longer cooling. I started noticing that everything seemed to be melting in the freezer. Finally, it dawned on me that it was broken. So, I called Home Shield and they scheduled me with somebody. The company couldn't come out to see me for about a week. So, I called Home Shield back and said, "Okay. I don't have a week. Can you find me another company that's got more availability?" They did and it was JM Appliance. They came out the next day, diagnosed the problem and told me it would take somewhere probably between two to three weeks to get the part in that they needed to replace. The tech said, "Now, mind you, this is worst-case scenario. I don't wanna tell you it's gonna come next week, and then it doesn't come. I'd rather give you worst-case scenario." So, he went ahead and put the order in.

    He cleaned up after himself. When he came in, he had a mask on and booties on his feet, and he was very polite, proficient and professional. About a week later, I got a phone call saying that the part was in. They came out the next day and installed the part. The refrigerator's been working fine ever since. So, it was a very good experience with JM Appliance but also with Home Shield in that they would go and find me someone who had availability immediately.

    Requesting service to Home Shield is very simple and straightforward. They do have a glitch in their system that will charge me twice for a service, but then they always refund it. I pay $75 for a call, and I see it twice all the time. So far, they've always refunded it, but I hate that I have to check and make sure. Other than that, the people on the phone are, for the most part, easy enough to understand. Sometimes, I run into one that really is difficult to understand. But for the most part, I can understand what they're saying. They are courteous. They are very friendly. They are helpful.

    I had a microwave issue and the guy came out and said, "Well, it's because of this part that's broken. And this microwave is really old." "Okay. Great. So, then just get me a new microwave." Instead, he went about trying to fix it and said, "Let me try a part from this. And let me try a part from that." Meanwhile, we had this man in and out of our house. The microwave took over a month to be repaired. Then it was never repaired. It was a constant battle to get it fixed, instead of him just saying, "Let's get you a new microwave." It took me getting a little irate and saying, "I don't understand what the problem is. If the part's unavailable and it's not here, aren't you supposed to just replace the microwave?" Home Shield said, "Yes. But we have to get him to say he can't fix it." "Well, then what I need you to do is to send someone else out because this guy keeps thinking he can fix it and it doesn't."

    So, they sent the second guy out who said, "We can't get these parts. This thing is broken." He took the information, left, came back, and the next day, he said, "We're gonna recommend a new microwave," which they did. I had to have some homework done. My microwave was hardwired into the house. It was here when the house was built. And the new one needed to be able to plug according to code and whatnot. So, I got all of that background work done. Then the guys came, delivered, and installed the microwave. But that was the only time that I felt like that part was difficult.

    I wish Home Shield had a way to tie in everything you need, so when I need my hot water heater replaced, they don't come with just the hot water heater. I need the guy to come out and check the gas line. I need somebody to come out and tell me, "You need a bigger cabinet. And here's the carpentry work." I need something that could help me work it all together. But instead, it is just appliances. So, I am learning to work the system and this latest experience was the best one so far. I have already recommended Home Shield to other friends who have different home warranty services. I've told them I use American Home Shield, and while it has some difficulties or it can be a little frustrating time-wise, it does get the job done, whereas they haven't had the same sort of luck with their company.

They came at 6 o'clock at night and they were there until 7:00 and I had to come back later on. I didn't appreciate that. But they fixed the unit so I can't complain. It's been pretty good with AHS.     We had a leak under our sink, and it was coming from the faucet in the kitchen. Unfortunately, with that kind of faucet, you can't just replace the tubing that goes to it because the leak is up inside the faucet. The contractor determined that was the problem, and they ordered a new faucet. It came about a week later and then they replaced it. We haven't had an issue since. So it was great.

    We also had a claim for an air conditioning issue. The people who American Home Shield sent out wanted to do a whole bunch of stuff. I disagreed with what they wanted to do. So I called American Home Shield and asked them if I had to go with this provider. They told me, “No. If you wanna just do the cash option, that's fine. And then you can find your own.” So I shopped around a little bit and found the people who installed the air conditioners in the first place and they knew the homes really well in the neighborhood. When we went with the cash option, it ended up being less expensive and it covered everything. The whole process for submitting my receipts was very smooth. Everything was good.

    The claims process with American Home Shield was pretty straightforward. The way with home warranties is that you pay for the claim upfront and then you hope it's worth it, and in our case, it happened to be. The online process of submitting a request and then paying for it right up front was easy. Then within a couple of hours, they gave us the contractor. It was smooth. I was happy with both experiences that I had with American Home Shield. The cash option was a little more legwork for me, but it was worth it for us in the end.

    Teksquad was great but my experience with American Home Shield is awful. I have filed three claims in the last few months. The cooktop was filed, and that's where Teksquad came out within a day or two, assessed the problem, got the part, came back within a few days, and repaired it. They were wonderful. Prior to that, I filed a claim regarding my pool pump that quit working. American Home Shield assigned a company to come and look at it. The name of that company was, Moonbeam Pool and Spa. They never called me. I called them multiple times but no one would return my call. I called American Home Shield about that. After dealing with them, they assigned another company to come and look at it. That company is called Howorth Pools. They came out and assessed the problem. They were able to fix my pool pump.

    In the meantime, my pool filter messed up. I filed a claim with American Home Shield about that. To this date, that still hasn't been fixed. I have called multiple times to American Home Shield about it and the people at Howorth Pools have called them multiple times about it too. To get someone to give us any straight answers or making any effort to get it fixed is non-existent. Every time I talk to them, they say that they're checking the account and that it is under review. When Howorth Pools contacted them, they were telling them that they were ordering the part. The claim was filed in June and it's still not fixed.

    Whenever I call American Home Shield, I'm on hold forever. I can't understand the person that I talk to. I've asked to speak to someone in the United States and the answer I got the last time was I could call back and maybe somebody from the United States would answer. I've told them that I've called probably 20 times, and every time they're someone from another country that doesn't seem to be able to give me any answers on it.

    I've talked to American Home Shield and told them twice that I wanted to speak to a supervisor that can give me some answers. The supervisor calls some odd number at night but I don't get their call. But each time that they've called, they've left me a message and it says that they understand that a tech has been out, that it's been repaired, and to let them know if there are any more problems. Each time they're calling us, they're looking at the cooktop order and don't seem to be considering that I have this other claim in there that they're not checking on. American Home Shield comes up for renewal in October, and I'm looking at other options because it's extremely frustrating that I can't seem to get this problem fixed.

    The AC unit outside was turning on but the one inside was not. I was expecting the repair to take at least a day or two but the tech came out a few hours later after I put the claim in, which was fast. He was great. I told him what was up and he went up into the attic and told me he found the problem. It was a capacitor that was blown and he swapped it out, and everything came back up. It was only 100 bucks to have him come out and fix the issue. Those capacitors are usually at least a couple of $100 and a service call would have been at least 60 bucks. So, it was much cheaper than that to have the home warranty. American Home Shield took care of it and I liked the peace of mind.

    A few weeks ago our hot water heater's electrical panel caught fire. It was a sunny day & our home has a whole home surge protector. We quickly contacted AHS. The next day the service tech showed up & determined the unit needed to be replaced due to the fire & stated the cause of the fire could not be established. The service tech report sent to AHS did not mention bad weather or a power surge as the cause of the fire.

    Later on that day, AHS marked the case as "completed." We called the service tech and they told us AHS had declined to cover as it was "an act of God." Since we did not want to be without hot water while fighting with AHS we gave the service tech the go ahead to replace the unit at $1800 out of our pocket. Since then, I have been fighting with AHS to cover the usual portion of a hot water heater replacement that should be covered under our warranty. In a private twitter message to me, AHS falsely claimed that the service tech report stated a power surge caused the fire. I have the reports and no such claim is made.

    Be warned: As a former long-term customer I believe AHS will cover smaller repairs without much hassle, but when a larger item like a hot water heater or AC unit fails, AHS will decline your claim and make you suffer in the summer heat or freezing cold shower. We replaced our hot water heater after a week of fighting at our expense and AHS now says that voids our claim. Trust me! You are better off self-insuring against appliance, hot water heater and AC loss. Put $550 a year into a rainy day fund. You will come out ahead. AHS is a scam!!!!

    AHS after 28 days of no A/C in South TX in Aug 2021, offered me half of my service fee back. I told then $50.00 wouldn't cover the cost of my electric bill with 2 portable A/C units I purchased. They offered 100% of my service fee ($100), told them no thank you, just get my A/C fixed! The servicing company told me they could get the parts in 2 days. AHS would not allow that, as they get parts at a discounted price. I understand why AHS wants to pay a discounted price for all parts. But 28 days later, I would have gladly paid for the parts at 100%. It would be cheaper than my increased electric bill forthcoming, and the price of 2 portable A/C running 24/7 for 3 weeks now), which does not cool the house, only makes 2 rooms bearable. Thanks for nothing AHS, I'll find another company that puts me first, real soon!

    When the tech came out the first time, he looked at the outlet and said that the problem was the plug. Then he changed something inside then left. Two hours later, the power went off again in the same outlet. He came back again and looked at the outlet on the same wall and changed that. By that evening, it was out again. Then he decided that all the outlets, apparently, on that circuit, because of the age of the house, was old. So, then we had to move everything from all the walls so he can check the outlet, what he should’ve done the first time to at least analyze what the problem was. So, again, by the third time out, it was fixed.

    Other than that, I have difficulty with AHS assigning the repairman that's actually knowledgeable and their rep didn't listen when I told them not to send a man out here who didn't know what he was doing. For example, I've waited two weeks for the plumber and he still has not repaired the toilet. He was supposed to fix a shower and what he did was went in there, opened up the shower door, looked at it, said that there was hair in it, and closed the door. He's supposedly looking for a part but nobody bothered to call to see if we've been contacted and let us know the status, or if he was finding or not finding a part.

    I told AHS that this man was inadequate and he just didn't know squat. I got to call AHS again today as it's going on three weeks and my toilet still isn't fixed. I dealt with American Home Shield before and the quality of workmen is not there anymore. If they were to review these people they send out to make sure that they are functionally knowledgeable, then that would be different. Aside from that, in Hawaii, they seem to have difficulty finding proper repair people.

    I've got a red light that comes on to my thermostat. When that red light comes on, my whole system shuts down. The people from AC Wizard are coming out again. The tech is trying to get out there as quick as he can because I've got two people in the home that’s got heart trouble. He is really narrowing it down and getting very close to what’s wrong with the air conditioning unit. AC Wizard is great. They worked like dogs trying to find out what's going on with the unit. They are doing the best that they know how to do, and they are really, really good technicians. The air conditioner has got a board on it that the tech replaced last week. One of the technicians that I dealt with was Chris and he did a hell of a job. Also, American Home Shield is doing a fabulous job. My problem is my machine. I've got Trane air conditioning units and they are just 10 years old but they are hard to work on.

    The capacitor in my pool pump blew up. The whole unit went out. My wife called in a claim and then AHS sent us the contractor's information. Then we called them and they came over. They replaced the capacitor. The only problem I had was they gave me a window between 3:00 in the afternoon till 8:00 at night. I told the guy I wanted to be there when they came. He worked me in and he ended up coming at 1:00. So my wife had to deal with him, which wasn't that big of a deal, but I was on the other side of town and I couldn't get over there to be with him. But it was no problem at all. He was very polite. He fixed the problem. This was the first time we've ever had a claim and everything went great. AHS has great coverage for all your needs of your home.

    Before I even started, I asked American Home Shield, “If there's this particular plumber or somebody that I liked, could I call for that company again?” They said yes. However, that's not the case. You can't use that plumber again. You gotta use somebody else. The last one they sent out never even called nor showed up. I ended up paying out of my own pocket. American Home Shield called the contractor and the guy said he was on his way but it was too late then. I had already found someone else to do it. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to anyone. As soon as I find someone else, I'm going to cancel my contract with them. I don't want to be with them anymore.

    I subscribed to American Home Shield, so I called them when we had a water heater leak and it was semi-difficult. The hot water heater and the expansion tank were covered, but I would like to see an immediate response, an immediate fix, and job appropriate charges. Master Plumbing came out and they charged too much money. They have a flat charge, so if it costs you $200 or $600, they still charge you $400.

    Six months ago, a tech came out for our ac and said he thought we had a leak. Once he gave us the Freon, we need to call back later on so they could do a test. When this recent guy came out, he didn't find any leaks. What he found was a burnt wire. He replaced the wiring and everything is good. However, I’m dissatisfied with AHS because we gotta go through so much just to get somebody to come out. AHS didn’t use to be like that, ‘cause I had AHS years ago. They used to be on their ball and nail that we had the last time because I have AHS for two homes. But we had to pick up a part between AHS and the people that were supposed to deliver the part.

    I don't think that we as a customer should have to go out and order the parts. Then when we get a part, we call AHS. Then AHS calls whoever's coming out to fix it. There were a lot of second, third and fourth people we had to deal with and that was on my other house. There was no communication. I would not recommend AHS to anyone. It wasn’t a good experience.

    I've got a little issue that we're working out but other than that, I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. We have a split unit. It's a mini-split in our kitchen. We've called it in twice to be serviced and looked at. In 2019, we had to have Freon put in, which I had to pay for out of pocket and it was about $400. Now, we just had it looked at again and they're telling us we need Freon again and it's going to be another $500. I'm almost at the point of a new unit at this point, and the only way they can tell if it's a leak is if they put more Freon in it. I'm like, "This is crazy. I'm not going to keep paying for Freon two years later." So, on my last conversation with the American Home Shield representative, she was checking with Family Heating & Air, the company that was providing service, and was going to tell them that I had requested for a replacement of the unit.

    AHS also sent Myers and they were fantastic. Our main unit went completely out. They were scheduled for a 10:00 to 2:00 timeframe and the tech got here at like 9:15. The issue was a capacitor. He had the part, he had everything ready to go and had us up and running in probably 30 minutes. He was a super nice guy and was very professional.

    I don't like American Home Shield's service. I had some work done to my AC and they recommended a company that totally screwed me over. I'll never use that company again. Also, AHS only covered a small portion of the payment. I had a leaky coil in my attic and I had Air Dynasty install a new one. While they were up there, something else supposedly broke. I believe that they broke that on purpose to try to get more money out of me. They replaced it out of their pocket because I told them I wasn't spending any more money with their company.

    Air Dynasty sent a salesman out who said that if I pay $2,100, I wouldn't get the parts 'til seven days. ut if I pay $2,900, I would have the part that night and the AC. I went five days with no AC, and I still had to pay the $2,900. American Home Shield said I should only have to pay $2,300. So, someone is lying. I got scammed out of money.

    I called American Home Shield to complain about Air Dynasty and they acted like they didn't even care. I called Air Dynasty almost every day to speak to a manager or a supervisor and no one wanted to talk to me. They were either out sick, or they don't come in till 10 o'clock in the morning. AHS is not worth it because you can't use the people you wanna use and have them pay for it. If you Google Air Dynasty, they have so many complaints against them and they're scammers. But yet, AHS still uses them. They're all in cahoots together and they're just all scammers. I’ve never heard of anybody having a good experience with American Home Shield.

    Our toilet was not flushing the water, and the Sirius repair people were great, very nice, and seemed professional, even though they didn't resolve the issue after every visit. Every time, they fixed something else and it supposedly worked for two days. It took them three different visits, and they had to replace different parts, but eventually, it got resolved.

    Sometimes having a home warranty is good, but for the bigger parts, for example, I now have an AC problem, and American Home Shield is making my life very miserable. With regards to the toilet, it was okay, even though it took them time to resolve it. For the AC, it's not. Now, they're providing an additional contractor 'cause the previous one couldn't provide the replacement. They needed to replace a part, which wasn't in the inventory and it will take them eight weeks. If you live in Texas during the heat, waiting eight weeks for a part for an AC is unacceptable.

    We had someone come out regarding a refrigerator that failed on us in the house we recently moved into and was covered by Home Shield. Initially, submitting the claim was very difficult. I made several of the calls, and we either got hung up on or there was nothing we could do. There were several different chases here. “You have to call this number here, and you have to call this number….” We stayed after it and finally, we got ahold of somebody who said, “Well, I'm the person who you need to talk to.” The people we talked to were very customer-oriented, and they had information.

    Once we got ahold of a person, then things began to happen. They came out, looked at the refrigerator, and said, “This part needs to be replaced.” They couldn't find the part, so they closed the account unbeknownst to us and that was not helpful at all. Nobody told us this, so we kept waiting for somebody to come back, a report, or a call, “Here's what we're going to do.” When we called back, there was no account, but when we got somebody on the phone, then she fixed it. Once we explained it to her, she said, “Okay, I understand what happened and we'll fix it.” She then said, “We don't have the part. We can't get the part. So, we have to replace the appliance.” After that, it worked swiftly. They gave us a catalog of appliances to choose from. We chose to replace the appliance and set it all up.

    Another one of those little inconsistencies is they said they were going to deliver it on one day, then they called to say they weren't. A week later, the truck finally arrived, the appliance came, and the fellas who delivered it were very nice and professional. They took the old appliance away, put the new appliance in and didn’t wreck anything. They did an excellent job and were very courteous. All in all, it took a while and a lot of persistence, but once we got to the end, it was a very successful experience. It was just the bureaucracy that didn't work so well. I really wish that they have the internal system worked out much better because it's an excellent service. It’s just the stuff in the middle is very time-consuming and annoying.

    When we use our home warranty, it's peace of mind to know that we have it, and that's something that may be more costly. We have paid more into it than we needed to use it, so it's a catch 22. Since we purchased it 11 years ago till now, the prices have increased. They're 75 now and they weren't like that before. But then again, that's 11 years so naturally, the cost of products has increased. We recently had an issue with our garage door.     The garbage disposal was still working, but there had been a leak at the side of the garbage disposal and stuff that was coming out had a really foul odor. The tech checked everything and he replaced that after he assessed the situation. Then he cleaned up and left. As far as the scheduling, the window that I had was from 1 o'clock to 6 o'clock in the evening, which for me wasn't optimal but I understand that a lot of stuff happens during the day. Also, when I went in to American Home Shield's website to make a selection about what appliance or what was going on, I thought that those selections could have been greater. Instead of just garbage disposal, there should be a place where I could just write down that there was a leak and an odor for them to be able to assess the problem better.

It depends if they send you a good company or a bad one, and there's no way you can pick. But since I did take a survey from them and I complained a lot, it seems like now, they're saying that they should have somebody out to my house within 48 hours. I'm hoping they've upped their game. It seems like they have but there's still some dodgy wording in the coverage. They cover your appliances, but if they have to replace a ceiling fan that you paid $700 for, they're going to give you the cheapest one possible. They don't tell you everything and they could do a lot better.

    American Home Shield sucks. If I could get my money back, I would. I have a fourplex and the hot water heater quit when one of the ladies there was in the hospital. No one would return my call from the contracted company. I spent most of my day off on Monday to try to find somebody and Ashley from AHS flat out lied. The company called me and they're like, “Chris what is going on? Because home warranty’s on the phone and they said you're the one that cancelled us.” But then I never cancelled them. AHS cancelled them and then they called somebody else who then said, “No, we can't come till at least Wednesday or Thursday.”. I told them that was not acceptable.

    So my husband and I, out of our pocket, had to go buy our own water heater which cost us $800. We had to put it in so that my lady, who just came home from the hospital, could have water. She's not going to die on my count. I paid all this money for a home warranty that doesn't work because I had to pay for the heater out of my pocket. All I wanted was to be reimbursed for the water heater but AHS said no because I didn't go through the proper chain of command. I sell real estate and I'm in the top 50 of my board of a thousand. So I will tell all my clients. I won't let them use AHS.

    I had a leak on my kitchen faucet and the contractor was unable to fix it so he was supposed to replace it. But he never came back out. So, I was gonna give American Home Shield a call back today because I'm totally unsatisfied with it, having had that paid. Not only did the repair guy not fix the leak, there’s now another leak that caused some damage underneath the sink that we didn't have in the beginning. I called Prime Plumbing back to try to get him to come out and no one was responding.

    I was gonna give AHS a call back today to see if they can get another company out or somebody out here to fix it, because nothing happened. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but I'm getting no response. I called them yesterday and with me having to work in the middle of the day, it's hard for me to stop and ask if I can I call them or stay on the phone with them. Also, my wife is getting upset about it and I had to hear from her because this is an ongoing issue.

    I had a hot water tank that turned out to be no good. The techs replaced it and they did a wonderful job. However, I get a little confused sometimes with the claim process. I pay one fee and then there's another. But it all explains itself after a while. There was one time when I had the same company out and do the same thing but I was charged two fees. It was really weird because I was going to have that company for an annual for my air conditioner. Then I couldn't get scheduled because of COVID but AHS took the $100 to get the contractor out. Then, when my AC broke down, I was charged another $100. The techs did it all at once but I was still charged for two different visits.

    Be aware of what your contract covers. When AHS' contractor did the air conditioning, I did not realize that the Freon is not covered completely. There's only a certain amount. Other than that, AHS is a great system to have. I was very skeptical before I got it.

    American Home Shield has reputable people to work on claims. I've only had one bad experience and that was the very first contractor we got to come look out at our air conditioner. They responded the same day I put the claim in. But after that, it was horrible. It was almost like they collected the service fee to come out, and then they dropped the ball with everything else. They said the issue was the compressor and they wanted us to pay $800 upfront before they even ordered the part. But the issue turned out not to even be the compressor.

    Several people complained about that contractor. So that was how we ended up with Air Force One. It was a better move for us, even though we ended up spending more money because we had to replace the air conditioning unit. The Air Force One tech was honest and great. But he had some issues. The first air conditioner that he replaced didn't work. So he had to get a replacement for the replacement. He's been really busy, but he is a good contractor. The customer service that he presented was awesome.

    American Home Shield's coverage has been fine. I had a rental property that I also had it on and after having it for 10 years, they still charged me a fee when I sold the house. They tried to convince me to transfer it to the new owner. But I didn't know that person and they had their own warranty that they wanted to go with. That's the only issue I've ever had with American Home Shield.

    The techs came in for my sink. It was blocked and it was flooding. In five minutes, they put their snake in and everything was working. So far, AHS has been great and I never had a problem with them. When I call them, they always respond. I pay AHS $75 for every call, then I pay about 900-something, which is not that high. The contractors are decent and I like the contract that I have right now. I have twins and that's why I have the program, to prevent damage in the house.

    Last year, I had claims to get my furnace cleaned, and the contractor did an abysmal job. I complained about the furnace not working in the basement, and they came back, "Oh, nothing's wrong with it," which was a lie. I had to get a private contractor to come in. Also, although American Home Shield's phone people are exceptionally courteous, it takes forever on the phone. The appointments are a long time, but that's in keeping with COVID.

    This year, I ignored the furnace cleaning thing because last year it was worthless. However, I'm still gonna have to put forth another repair and spend another $100 to attempt to get my furnace repaired in the basement. I have two. I was ready to let American Home Shield go and I'm still thinking about it, but the service this year has improved. They need better contractors though. Now they're using more Sears, and the last contractor I had for the washer was good. With the refrigerator, that was Sears, so they were good.

    Generally, I've been okay with American Home Shield’s service but the biggest issue I'm having is with regards to the communication between AHS and the person who has been contracted to fix the problem. When I called AHS, I was told they were going to call the people in. When they did, they got a voicemail. So, they said they were going to call them back in four hours.

    Five to six hours later, I called back and I had to give an entire dissertation of what took place the first time. It took almost 20 minutes for me to finally get to the person that I was talking to at American Home Shield. Then she finally said that she saw the notes where I talked to her colleague and they said they were going to call me back in four hours. But that was a long time after I had already explained that. Then, when they tried, they got a voicemail again and told me they were going to follow up. The rep said she was going to put it on a priority and call them today or this morning but I still haven't heard anything.

    I had an oven that went out and the Sears guy who looked at it said that the control board was bad, and he had to order a new part. The part came in on August 27th, which was probably two days after the oven went out and when the guy came. Here we are, two weeks later on the 8th, and I still don't have an oven. It would have been Friday, the 3rd, when the part got in but it being the weekend, I didn't call Sears back until Tuesday, 7th, because of Labor Day. When I called Sears, they said that there was just one part and the other part was on backorder, and it may be 21 days or more before we get it. I asked what I was supposed to do for 21 days and they told me that I would have to call American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield and stated to them the issue and that was where I got into two separate conversations. The first one being they contacted, got voicemail and so, they were going to call me back. But they didn't. I called American Home Shield and got the second person. It wasn't until later that they realized that there was a note and that it says they would make it a priority. We’re at the next day and I still haven't heard anything.

    I still don't have any resolution on when I am going to have an oven. That's been two weeks already and then, we're talking maybe another 21 days if this part takes that long to get here. So, that's over a month with no cooking apparatus in my house, other than the microwave. This is not the first time that I've had an issue with it. It was Sears the last time that had to order a part and so AHS’ problem may be with Sears. We had the same issue with the washing machine last year and a similar situation where the part was on backorder, and American Home Shield ended up giving us a check for a new washing machine because it was going to be several weeks before a part came in for the washing machine. And It was Sears.

    I've had a couple other instances with AHS where it has been timely and I have a good service. So, it's hit or miss. Myers Comfort came out and they were good. They've come out several times for issues that we've had with our air conditioner and I've not had any issues with them. I have recommended the service with AHS but the problem is not all the service providers are quality. The other thing that I had a problem with is that the couple of times I've had to call customer service, I had trouble understanding who I was talking to. There were some language barrier issues. But I'm not interested in getting rid of American Home Shield. They have come through and helped me when I needed it.

    I wasn't too happy with American Home Shield's service. I had to get another guy to come out to tighten up what the plumber was supposedly had done. He didn't tighten up my pipes after he installed the faucet. I had to spent $40 today for someone else to tighten up some bolts and it caused me to have a leak on the two sinks, upstairs and downstairs. So, I wasn't very thrilled with that.

    Then, my refrigerator stopped making ice after he turned the water back on. I had him to come back out here because I had called, but he kept asking me, "Did I do the kitchen sink?" I said, "No, you did two sinks upstairs in the master bathroom and you did the one in the hall bathroom and the one downstairs, but didn't screw those things tight in the upstairs bathroom and a half bathroom downstairs." The handyman I had to call said that he didn't change the pipes out. He should have checked it after he installed it.

    I'm leaving American Home Shield because of this incident. This ain't the first time this happened with plumbing in my home where plumbing had to come back. I'm really not too happy with the plumbers that are sent here. They should get some better reputable companies that don't have to come back and redo the work.

    As far as the claim process, you got to wait so long. And when you call, you're talking to somebody overseas, can't even understand your language, and you have to ask them to repeat what they said. I'm not happy about getting someone that can't speak English very well. I'm not thrilled about that because you have to repeat yourself, and then you have to repeat your name so many times. That's really frustrating. I got to get with a company that can have people that can speak direct English to you and understand what you're saying. So, I'm not happy with that customer service either.

    When my trash compactor wouldn't work, I went online and paid my $100. It's a good website. The repair man then took out my trash compactor, said, "It's just a jam thing in here," and fixed it. He also cleaned it all and tightened up some pipes that were leaking. He did a good job. The only complaint I have with American Home Shield is the last time that they had someone clean my air conditioner, the guy charged me an extra $100 and I wrote him a check. He said, "Well, there's something wrong with this. And you're gonna have to pay anyway 'cause you have to call them up, and they're still gonna charge you." I didn't like that. Other than that, it's been a good experience, and I tell my friends, "It's a good insurance. The only thing you got to pay is the monthly fees, and then if something breaks, you got to pay 100 bucks."

    The air conditioner made a click, click, click sound all the time when it was running from the inside. I could hear it, like where the air filter is, and it was just getting louder and louder. I made the claim online and got the information online, and the contractor called within 24 hours and came out. I'm online a lot and I've seen some clunky ones. But that website seems to work well. It was efficient and took care of it. I didn't have to be on the phone for hours and hours.

    Once I had the contractor's name, it was easy to search to see if they were any good or not. Because AHS sent somebody out for a repair on my refrigerator and they were terrible. I've talked to several other people that had those same people and they were awful. But AHS has been great. They made me stick with the guy that was terrible, but then I ended up getting my refrigerator replaced. AHS stood behind their contract. So, I've been happy.

    The only other issue I had with AHS and this was at the very beginning, I just bought the house and the air conditioner went out. It was 115 degrees, and it was the day I was moving in. I couldn't get anybody out here. The Realtor had somebody that could change the fuse. And AHS would not reimburse me because the realtor did not contact AHS first. But I realized they have to have rules. It would have been nice if they said, "Okay. Well, we can see this was extraordinary situation." I tried to get that rectified, but it was a hard no. But I have recommended them to my neighbors that they are responsive. The downside is I have to only go with who they send, but so far, that have been good people except for the one. So, they are doing a good job.

    Have been a faithful customer of AHS for many years with 2 properties. They have gotten so bad, so much ** and so much of a rip off that I had to actually take time and make this bad review. Started with a simple, and I mean SIMPLE microwave door clip being broken. This caused the microwave door to not seal properly unless you manipulate it back into place. 1st call - they sent someone out right away OREN in Las Vegas, he takes the door and starts prying the door with a scraper knife and cracks multiple clips and then say, "Oh your pieces are cracked." The door still works and so no can claim warranty (mind you a replacement door costs $350 ) and my service call cost $125. So he claims to AHS that it is still working and thus no repair needed. Now my door is still hanging off the over stove area and so I call to chase them to find out that it was "Not a warranty claim and tough **". So I ask for a 2nd opinion as the door is still broken and even worst now that the 1st guy broke a bowl full of clips.

    Called and chased them since July 20th and finally got a 2nd guy to come and look at it. He said the clip was broken and would report to AHS. This was on 8/12/2021. No reply, no call back, no email, no nothing. I have to chase them to get a response. Today 8/23/2021 I get in touch with them and they said "Oh it was because YOU broke the door due to force and thus we are not going to cover your repair". Well this is the last straw. So I myself ordered a replacement door from GE and will get it here is 2 days at a cost of $398 with tax etc. Cancelling my long time contracts with this crap of an outfit and will tell everyone of the absolute bad service that I got and documented with employees **, **, supervisor Jom, Mesh, and some other foreign speaking person that was worthless. This needs to be taken up to BBB for resolution. Take your bad business practices and shove it where my microwave door is!

    Original review: We had American Home Shield for two years. We used them a few times, and getting them to pay out, was like pulling teeth. This summer after replacing our Furnace (on our dime), the headache of dealing with AHS was clearly not worth it anymore. On July 6th, 2021, I called American Home Shield to cancel my current contract. On the same day, I received an email back from the AHS Cancellation Department confirming my contract cancellation. An attached letter from the email, states that we owed ZERO. On July 25th, I received a notification from Privacy.com (which I HIGHLY recommend!) that I had decline notification from the credit card that I previously used for American Home Shield and then canceled the credit card number after I closed the account.

    Subsequently, they called my wife's phone and said we owed the amount of $60.90 for our monthly payment. I then called them back and reminded them I had canceled the contract on the 6th of July and received notice that I had canceled the account. They then put me on hold to "confer with management" and never came back to the phone (I hung up after 90 minutes on hold). They tried to elicit payment from my dead credit card subsequently on the days of July 31st, Aug. 6th, Aug. 12th, and Aug. 18th. Every time I call and yell at them, and every time they put me on hold until I finally hang up after a few hours.

    The first day that I moved into the house, the toilet and shower didn't work. American Home Shield had to send out three different people. But not one of them could get it right. I had to come out of my pocket and pay $700 to get this fixed. Each time, AHS wanted to charge me $75 to send somebody out. It's just to charge me money. But they sent me plumbers out that have come in, taken my brand-new towels out of my bathroom, spent 10 minutes and walked out. They did work on one of my other son's bathrooms. Underneath the sink was leaking. They made it worse. It's still pulling out water. It's just a damn joke. I call them, they argue with me. They said they would call me back but they didn't.     The AC unit was completely down but fortunately for me, Metro Air Services came through and they fixed it. It was done nicely. I'm very appreciative of the guys that came by. They were young, but they were very professional. At first, I think that they did not know the diagnosis. When they came the second time, which was fine with me, they got the job done.

    The only problem I had with American Home Shield was the pricing. I had to pay out of pocket for the air conditioner. But I was excited having someone come over and fix it even though I pay a lot more than I thought I would pay. I had to pay $780 but I was excited that my room is cool. Having the warranty is a very good idea. It comes in handy. If the out of pocket won't have to be so high, it will be more convenient.

    When I go to AHS's website, none of the pages work. The last time I tried was when I looked for the AC person, and it wasn't working. I had to use the telephone number. That was great and I was able to get my service request in. I got a quick response. However, there's a set price for a service call and some service calls really wouldn't cost that much if we call someone else. The price should be dependent upon the problem.

    There was a loose venting pipe that was causing condensation inside the AC unit and creating a rust situation. Anthony, the tech was fantastic. He had good communication skills and he explained everything he did. He fixed the venting pipe, cleaned up, and checked the system to make sure that the system wasn't rusting anywhere else. He gave me some tips to understand the system better.

    A home warranty is great to have. I do object a little bit though to the $100 fee upfront. Most AC calls in this area are about $85, so the $100 initial fee is really not in step with AC people in this area. Additionally, I've had to call AHS about a couple of things and the procedure sometimes would be I have to do this, this, and this. But overall, I just had to be patient and wait. Things worked out okay.

    Frank's Appliance Repair came out and fixed a leak I had in my refrigerator. They also fixed the leak that was in my washer. Then something happened with the oven and it can't be fixed. None of the burners would light. American Home Shield said they are going to send me a check within 21 days. A couple years ago, American Home Shield replaced my dishwasher, and they just sent me one. I'm very happy I have the American Home Shield. I don't know what I'd do without it now. I've had it for a few years now and it's great. If something breaks down, I'm like, "Okay. If they can't fix it, they can't. But if they can, they will." So it's very well worth it to me. I've recommended American Home Shield to a lot of people.

    American Home Shield's website is fine. I like it. I do a lot of stuff online. I've made claims before and the contractors came out. Some of the stuff they couldn't fit, but some of the stuff they could. The people at Frank's were really nice. We had a guy from Lawton a couple years ago who wasn't efficient. I didn't hold it against him. He was a nice guy, but these guys from Frank's were on top of things. The lady that does their scheduling stayed on top of things with me and let me know if they were gonna make it when we got the parts in. There were a couple of times I got an email saying that the parts were in, so I let them know, and they said, "Well, some of your parts are in, but we don't have them all." So when they got them all, she let me know, and then they scheduled me as soon as we could get it together. I really like them.

    I have a microwave that the latch to open the door broke. My daughter reminded me that I had American Home Shield. So I called them. And the Aro Appliance was perfect. All I did was go online and pay the $75. It took a couple of days for Aro to call me. I was going to call them if they didn't. But they reached out and set up an appointment. And they were there the next day. After I set up the appointment, I was unable to be there the day they wanted to come. So I had to delay it a day. The tech then had to get a part. But he was there the next day to repair it.

    American Home Shield is really good and I appreciate how they call back. But I just had one thing that I don't like and that was when I called for the appliances. They ordered some parts for my stove, refrigerator-freezer, and washer. It’s been over three weeks now or longer that they ordered a part. The washer part hasn't come so I called the contractor myself and they told me that the stove and refrigerator parts were here but they didn't deliver it. I called AHS and one rep told me that since it was taking so long for the washer part, she would contact the contractor and have them deliver and fix my stove so I can use it. I never heard anything, so I called back. Yesterday, when I talked to the representative, this particular person told me they couldn’t do that. She said they will have to wait until they get the washer part.

    If they already have two parts, they should fix what should be done instead of waiting. That part that I was a little disgusted with. Another thing I'm not quite sure on is the refer a friend 'cause I get so many different people that answer. One has given me the wrong website and then the website was free. Also, when I give information to a friend, they can't put anything in it. But the last rep I talked with gave me information and I was able to type a person's email in there and send it to that person. I have had two people that I referred and they had gone through and been approved. Additionally, about the lady that referred me, I haven't received the gift card for that. I should have had three gift cards and I haven't gotten anything from AHS.

    But everything else, I've been pleased with. As far as the plumbing company when they came out, it was just excellent. The ones they couldn't repair, AHS went right on it. One company had given me a permit for two weeks from the date. So, I called American Shield back and they went right on and gave another permit. It was just perfect. That’s why I say I'm really satisfied with everything.

    Recently, with my last two claims with AHS, I'm a little disappointed, because the first one I made once a few months ago in the company where I was referred to, which was a good operation, Bissett Plumbing never contacted me. I waited about a week and a half. I've dealt with them for years and they're terrific. I finally had to go with another company.

    Then now this one with Mars Appliance Repair. We had a leak in our washing machine. The guy came out and he replaced some pump. Took him about half an hour and he left. It seemed to be fine for a couple of days. But the wife didn't use the washing machine for three days. Then yesterday, she washed clothes and it's leaking again. So, I made another claim.

    I'm a little puzzled that I hadn't heard from them yet. Usually, somebody calls me within 24 hours when we set up an appointment and I didn't get one this time. But generally speaking, over the course of my 20 years with American Home Shield, I couldn't be happier. I've gotten a brand-new refrigerator, a new microwave oven and all sorts of stuff over the years. I got a certain amount of peace of mind by having American Home Shield. It's a good thing to have. I'm very satisfied with everything over the years. I'm gonna hang on to it for now.

    The fans in the living room, dining room and kitchen weren't coming on, and the basement light wasn't coming on. The technician who came the next day after I filed a claim to American Home Shield was friendly, quick and efficient. Having the warranty, if something goes wrong and can't be repaired, it can be replaced or it has to be worked on until it's working. So far, I recommend AHS. I just think that the $100 every time something goes wrong is too much.

    My wife was cleaning one of the toilets in the house and we use the cleaning wands that have disposable heads. But the head popped off, and she didn't realize that it come off the end of the wand, and it went down the pipe. There was no way to get it out unless you have the right tools. So we called American Home Shield and they lined up Oasis to come out. The guy's name was David and he was great. He showed up exactly when he said he would be there, and it took him five minutes to do the job.

    We've used American Home Shield’s services twice when we had the exact same problem with our air conditioner two summers in a row. There's a certain capacitor that's part of our air conditioning system outdoors and it went out twice in a row. It was good to have somebody come by and check it out professionally, and then swap out the part that was the actual problem.

    We have two different American Home Shield accounts because we own a rental house in Florida. It's really handy to have an AHS policy on a rental house because you never know what your renters are going to accomplish. We've had some bizarre things happen with the rental house. The one that really surprised me the most was when the garage door opener went out. One of the big, heavy springs that lifts the garage door broke. I've never seen that happen in my life. The funny thing was that our tenants couldn't figure out why the garage door wouldn't go up and down anymore. But somebody got out there to fix it.

    The system ran out of Freon. Cool Heat came out, and they couldn't find the leak the first time. When the tech came out the second time, he found the leak and he fixed it, and everything was great. Cool Heat was great to work with. I moved in here in 2004 and when I bought the house, the gentleman I bought the house from had left a year of service on it, and I just never took it off. I've used it a lot and I really like it.
