It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

I typically request service online, which is fine, but something wasn't right with my account, and I had to call. I had to wait and wait and listen to that same recording play over and over. It was very annoying. Other than that, it is a very good service. American Home Shield has definitely been beneficial. We've relocated 1,000 miles away, and we did not know service people to contact. I love the fact that I open a request, then they pick from people and just about everyone that they sent has been quality. There's been one that I wasn't a big fan of, but that is just the luck of the draw. I needed to get them to come back out and another person was sent. That other person again was fabulous.

The claim process was smooth. GE Appliances changed the steam sensor in the microwave that wasn't working. After that, the microwave is working just fine.

Everything has taken a long time to be done. You have to go through all these steps. Home Shield writes everything down. They ask you things over and over again every time you call. But the notes are right there. Then they have to write notes all over again. There are too many people on your case, so you don't talk to the same person all the time. So you're constantly repeating over and over again what is going on, which you have already done originally and each time you call in.
The ceiling fan broke down and it was a mess trying to get the contractor to come out, check my fan, and fix it. When I finally had somebody to come out, the contractor looked at it and they felt that the fan was working. I kept telling them it doesn't work properly. The tech said, “Well, look. It's working right now.” But as soon as they left, I turned the ceiling fan back on, and it wasn't working properly. I wasn't getting the three levels that I was supposed to get.
I called back Home Shield and they said, “Well, we have to call them and recall them back out.” But the contractor kept refusing. I asked Home Shield, “Okay, if they’re refusing, why can't you get me another contractor?” But that took a long time to do. Finally, a different company came out. They saw where the problem was and put a fan in because it wasn't fixable.
When I had the problem with the refrigerator door and called Home Shield about it, I had to pay 100 down. But the man never came out. So Home Shield cancelled that order, but they never sent me my money back. Then the contractor that came out had to come back a second time because the refrigerator wasn't fixed. The tech came and said, “I've told you before. You need a door.” I asked him why he wasn't telling that to Home Shield. Home Shield was saying that it was cosmetic. The tech said, “No, it's not cosmetic. You definitely need a door and they need to replace it.” I finally got another call from someone in Home Shield and she told me that it would take 10 weeks for the door to be fixed. So I have to use another refrigerator because there's so much condensation in my refrigerator because it's not sealed properly. I'm waiting for my door to be put on. So I'm not very happy.

I like American Home Shield. Every time that I have a claim, they work out great with me. I don't have to worry about any of my appliances that break, and I don’t have to pay thousands to fix them.

The dryer smelled like it was burning. I did a claim and the process was easy but it took longer than I expected. The tech that came out was excellent and he cleaned up the vent. American Home Shield takes care of everything. The only gripe I have with them is it takes so long to get anyone here. It takes at least three to four days and sometimes a week.

The issue hasn't been addressed yet. Our ice bin in our freezer is not coming out all the way. Appliance Pro has been out twice to work on it. They felt they had fixed it, but it's doing it still. I did call American Home Shield and requested a recall, which they took and supposedly conveyed that on to Appliance Pro. Appliance Pro said once they got that recall, they would be able to come back out. But they still haven't come out yet. American Home Shield could improve the people that receive the calls. They could have a better handle of English. They know their products, but they don’t communicate well at all. They're all of another nationality. American Home Shield could also improve their telephone prompts. When I call, I have to go through the same set of commands four or five times before finally reaching out and get somebody on the phone.

If you open the door while the microwave was on, it would trip the breaker. The technician came out and asked me some questions. He proceeded to change out a switch and provided some operational instructions, and within about a half hour, he was done. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was simple. I have a premium plan, so all I have to do is pay $125 every time I call, and that covers parts and labor.
The only time AHS didn't cover parts and labor was on the previous call when the contractor had to replace a toilet flange in the basement that was broken. So at that time, AHS covered up to $1,000 of the repair and we had to cover 300 in addition to the 125. If you've got appliances, they’re going to break down. It's just a matter of time. You can either cover those costs out of your own pocket or you can use something like American Home Shield. They've been very good. I've called them five times and had great responses every time.

We had a copper pipe that had pinholes in it that was leaking. A contractor came and replaced that section of the pipe. Unfortunately, they couldn't do any of the drywall work so I have to do that. But the leak has been fixed. American Home Shield has always been responsive and quick. They made sure that the problem was fixed. It's definitely a great thing to have on my home.

It took three days to get an appointment. The techs were here the first time for half an hour and found out it was a blower fan motor issue. The contractor didn't have that in stock and it was a week to order the part. It took another week to make another appointment but that didn't fix the problem completely. So it took another week to make another appointment, and another week to get the second part in. It was a lot of waiting. But the system works great now. However, communication wasn't that great on the part of what needed to be done. I still don't know what was done completely. They weren't clear or forthcoming about that at all. They didn't really send me a descriptive invoice either from American Home Shield on the website.

My heating element is down and the guy said that he had to order a part. It took him two weeks and it's hot. But he was good. He tried to get it back on and he tried. I also had a dishwasher claim and I had to get a new dishwasher. That took about three days. AHS's service is beneficial.

American Home Shield was great. My toilet was running non-stop, and when I did a claim, the rep over the phone was very friendly and courteous. The repair company then called me and told me they were coming, and I told them what was going on. They were very professional, friendly, and courteous and they fixed the problem. I sold that house, and I bought American Home Shield at the other house as well. They've always been helpful.

I’ve had numerous claims through Home Shield, and I'm disappointed in the service that I've gotten over the years. A lot of times, when people come out here, they don't want to do the work. For example, the air conditioner people that came out this last spring told me that I needed a new unit. It was going to cost me $7,000. All we did was put coil in it. It cost me $100, and it has worked perfectly fine during this hot summer. I will never use those air conditioning people again. We've been shopping other services over the last couple of weeks too. However, this recent claim, by far, was the best one. Everything was perfect. My garage door wasn't working and the tech resolved the problem on the spot. He was very polite, diligent, and excellent.

My air conditioning thermostat was not working correctly, and this is the second call out on this same problem. The first call out a couple weeks ago, it looked like it was just a loose wire and they thought they fixed it, but apparently, there was something that wasn't connecting correctly. With this visit, the gentleman tore the whole thermostat apart and realized that it wasn't working correctly. He evaluated the situation, put in a new thermostat, and had my air conditioning working the way it should. It was quick. The benefit of having American Home Shield is the availability and knowing that they are there. I was very comfortable, and the gentleman that came out was very courteous, professional as well as explained and looked at everything. It was a very nice experience.

The only thing I find frustrating with AHS is it seems to take a long time to get rescheduled. I had a stove claim and they needed parts. I was out of a stove for a month, which is a long time. Other than that, overall, I'm 90% easily satisfied. I love it as a landlord and I like the way it sort of limit my expenses. Also, I am a Realtor and I sell them as well. Terri, the salesperson, is one of the reasons I like selling them. She is understanding and she backs up that warranty. If anyone needs help, she would get them help.

The hot water heater in the house stopped working and Steinberg Plumbing replaced the upper and lower element as well as the thermostat. It took a day and a half. We've only used American Home Shield a handful of times and my experience has been very low and dissatisfied to very satisfied with this last particular vendor. The guy did a wonderful job and was very thorough. He explained everything and did a top-notch job, not only fixing the issue, but also inspecting to make sure there were no other issues lurking around the corner.
The calling process is horrible though and I’ve been thinking about canceling the service with AHS. Most of the time, the people on the other end of the phone are very difficult to understand and to talk to. AHS has no regard for the homeowner and their problems. The reps have a script to follow and it's very evident and clear that they don't vary from the script, which is to do the least amount for the homeowner.

The company that I had prior, I really had some issues with them. Every call that I made, I came out of my pocket with hundreds of dollars. When they came the last time, they stated that I needed to have a specific wire made for a humidifier. So, I've questioned how this house had humidifiers when I purchased it. The house is 20 years old, and they never had a separate wire. So, when I switched to American Home Shield, I advised them that that was the issue. The person I spoke with said they couldn't go on anybody else's situation. They had to have their guys come up. Their guy who came here was very informative. He actually taught me some things and he told me what to do so I don't have to put it on the wire. So, that was a pretty good experience with them.

American Home Shield has been good for me. There's a standard service fee you'll pay on top of having somebody come out. I do my claims over the phone or online. Either way, it's easy.

I had a stoppage in my kitchen sink. The plumber assessed and serviced it. It did not take very long and the sink has been fine ever since. Submitting my claim online to AHS has worked okay so far. The only thing that I would suggest is a quicker response or appointment time because I had to wait several days for an appointment. This is something that they would have to work in conjunction with the service providers.

I never know who to call if something goes wrong. I'm elderly and I don't have any family around here. With AHS, I just call them and then they send somebody out. Recently, the refrigerator was making a noise where the ice maker is. The tech took the whole side out, the whole freezer, the back panel, all of it out and it was the fan. He just adjusted the fan and it's fine now.

I'd recommend AHS. I've had the service of AHS for 15 years and I'm happy with it. I like requesting for service now because I do it online and I get an answer back immediately. Then, also, they keep up with reminders. Palmetto Appliance Professionals recently came out and the tech was very personable and he's come to my house several times over the years.

My upstairs AC unit wasn't working. Prayco called me later on the day I put my request in with AHS. Their tech came out that evening and first thought it was the Freon. Once he tried to put Freon in, it refroze the lines. He gave a little bit more troubleshooting and found out that it was the circuit board. He ordered a replacement and scheduled to come back on a Saturday when it was more convenient for me. I was appreciative of that. He replaced the circuit board and I haven't had any more problems. AHS made sure that the workers that they sent out were competent and I plan to keep them.

When I came home, my air wasn’t on, and I realized the blower outside wasn’t operating. The technician came and talked me straight through it and said my capacitor went on it. He showed me the unit that went and explained what its purposes within the unit. He's someone that I would definitely use again. I recommend friends to American Home Shield all the time.

We thought we had a problem in the kitchen. A tech came out and pretty much verified what we thought. All the really expensive parts of it were down. We went back to Home Shield to do a parts assessment like if it will cost more to fix it or to replace it. Days passed, and I kept calling the guy that was assigned to me. He said, “They should call you.” They're kinda waiting for Home Shield to call them. It's almost two weeks, and that's pretty long. We’re very pleased customers of American Home Shield. They've come through. It's just this latest claim has been really been slow. I have them in the speed dial, so I can get them. I'm just trying to give them time to do what the local craftsman says that they had to do.

We were good with American Home Shield until this last claim but it's not that it was necessarily their fault. We had to have our refrigerator replaced and it was a long time of a wait to get the contractor out. Normally, they've been good about it being a day or so, but this time, it was over a week and no one called me back. So, we ended up having to wait an extra 48 hours while they put it through the system. Then, it took another week plus to get the gift card to replace the appliance. I ordered the refrigerator the morning that I got the gift card and then, it was delivered the next day.
All of our appliances match and AHS said that they don’t match colors even though that option is available. Currently, they still wouldn't change the eCode so in order to make all my appliances match, it cost me another $400 out of pocket to get the exact same refrigerator that I already have, in the right color. It ended up working out fine but AHS should have a better match system. In our case with stainless steel, they would only pay for the white. I understand that if I have white, I shouldn't get a stainless-steel price. But ultimately, if they’re planning to replace my appliance and the exact same appliance is available and they're not paying for it to be replaced to match, that seems a little bit ridiculous to me.

The bathroom faucets were leaking and even if you shut them off, they were leaking around the edge, where they connected to the base. They were leaking on the countertop. The repair guy came right out and took the faucets apart, and put the little cartridge things in it so they’d stop leaking. On the other bathroom, he attached a handle that I didn’t know could be reattached. I now have both bathrooms that can be used. He was very helpful and said that everything could be taken care of quickly. This claim with American Home Shield was fine and I was very happy with the service I got on this plumbing issue.

JP Williams came out recently for an electric issue. The electrician's customer service, promptness, and knowledge were great. It went well. I just have concerns. I requested service for my refrigerator previously and someone came out five times. Then they said that they would have to contact Whirlpool directly but no one ever contacted me back. Finally, I was told that I was sent an email to respond to because the refrigerator would be replaced as the contractor couldn't fix it. No one ever called me with that as well. The email didn't say American Home Shield, so I didn't know who the email was coming from. That was a little bothersome because I could have been on that a lot sooner than I had been. If I never said anything, nobody's gonna say anything to me.
I also had issues with my AC as I had them both going at the same time. Someone came out five times and it was the same contractor, which was fine, because I didn't wanna deal with anyone else and I didn't want anyone else to start over. But I just thought someone should've said, "Well, is it fixed?" This started in April. Here, it is July, and no one asked about it. American Home Shield was great when I called and I had to request service again and again. Thank goodness, I only had to pay that deductible once, but I didn't feel the follow-up there. I just have to have a lot of patience. AHS is a little costly and I have two properties with it.
There was one contractor I had a long time ago that I told American Home Shield not to send out to my house. This guy came for the dishwasher at my rental property and I told him to let me know what was going on. I thought it was fixed. A week later, it still wasn't, and neither the contractor nor the tenant told me about it, that was why he received a bad rating. He was so angry with me and told me not to call him again for service and he would never come back. That was good because I didn't want him to come back either. He was nasty.
But other than that, there's one guy that American Home Shield sends all the time for my washer or dryer and he's fabulous. One time my son came down and asked him to move his van and he did. When my son went to work or school, he asked if that was the little boy that used to be playing outside when he would come here and I said yes. He was like, "Oh my gosh. He's driving." So, 99% of the contractors have been absolutely amazing and I appreciate that.

We've had several calls for American Home Shield. I've been satisfied with the subcontractors that have come out. AHS has been very responsive too. They are an excellent choice for a homeowner for any type of needs in reference to appliances and coverage that they have for their customers. We had techs come out recently because of our air conditioning unit that went out all of a sudden. The techs were able to find out exactly what was going on. I was also treated fine when I called AHS to submit a claim.

I encountered a few issues with one contractor related to a plumbing issue. Every time I called their number, the agent that would take my call was pretty rude. And it took a really long time to fix the issue. But aside from that, the overall experience is pretty good. I will keep using AHS.

Submitting a claim was pretty easy but the technician can get out sooner. I had an AC that wasn't cooling and the tech from Total Air Care knocked it out in 20 minutes.

There was a leak in one of the little lines in the AC. Submitting the claim was easy but I was charged 100 and I thought my copay was 70. But SMJK came out here and fixed it in two days. It was great.

I like AHS. There’s a website. I can do things really quickly. When I submitted a claim with AHS, it was easy. They called me within an hour to set up the appointment. The sump pump was working, but it wouldn't work without us pouring a lot of water into it. The tech figured out that somehow the thing that keeps the floater in place broke off. He tied it back in place. Now it's working fine. He made sure it worked and he made sure he showed me and I could see what he did. He didn't just say, “It's fixed,” and leave.

American Home Shield replaced the dishwasher right away and We Fix It is fixing a part on the refrigerator. They've been wonderful. It was on the American Home Shield side with the part but as of yesterday, they said they're sending it now. I would definitely recommend We Fix It. I’d use them again on my own if I needed to.

Interstate Heating recently came out for our AC. One of the parts had blown out on the outside unit and that needed to be replaced. It was about 90 degrees outside the house. Fortunately, they were able to come out the next day. Overall, things have been all right with American Home Shield. I have peace of mind.

I had a good experience when I had a recent claim for a commode that was plugged up. The tech got out the next day. The first tech though was not very good. About a week later, the commode plugged up again. I told AHS I wanted a different technician. They sent out a new one, the boss of the company. He did a good job and fixed the commode.
With AHS, the amount you pay for a service call is $100. No company will send one of their techs out if you're not under that for $100. Also, since AHS started advertising, they've been hiring more people and that works out well. My experience with them has been very good lately.

The refrigerator icemaker went out and the tech that was sent out showed up on time. He did what he needed to do and told me what was going on. He said he had to order a part. The part came in a couple of days later and he came back and fixed it.

A microwave kept tripping our circuit breaker. I made a claim with AHS and it took about a week and a half to two weeks before the tech came out. But that was only because I rescheduled the appointment once. Then, when the tech came in, he was here for about 30 minutes and he did a good job. He kept to himself, diagnosed the problem, and left only once just to get the parts from his truck. Then he came back and fixed it. Everything works great now. I'd tell others to get AHS and not to waste time. It's a monthly payment, but it saves a lot of time interest in the long run.

American Home Shield had been great for the several years I had been with them. But in the last six months, I had trouble with them. The people they hired to do the repair work were very slow in getting the work done. Two out of two contractors were less than satisfactory. The first time was a replacement of my washing machine and it took almost two months. There was one problem after another. My husband was handling this issue and he constantly called. They constantly said that parts were on order and techs would be out on Tuesday. They wouldn't show up and sometimes they did not even a call. My husband should have contacted American Shield immediately but he didn't. He kept dealing with the contractor that was assigned to our case and that didn't work out.
The second instance was when my water heater broke. I wasn't gonna take the risk that there was no hot water. I had to keep nagging the plumber. He said he was waiting for authorization from American Shield. That flipped me out so I contacted American Home Shield and they started to get involved. When we submit a claim, American Home Shield usually has someone respond pretty quickly on that, but the job doesn't get done.
American Home Shield should make sure that their contractors are on top of things and they do the work in a certain period of time that is required in order to keep their contract with American Home Shield. That was one of the major issues for me. The second one is American Shield kept not giving authorization. The third time that I do a repair request and American Home Shield does not do it really satisfactorily, I'm leaving them. In the last six months, American Home Shield had fallen down on the job and if they don't correct this, I will leave and try another company that is on a month-to-month basis.

The air conditioner was coming on in the morning, and it would work fine for a few hours. Then at some point in the middle of the day, it would start to be putting out warm air. We live in California, and it's hot. Leo Smith was able to fix it really quickly. He identified the problem within 10 minutes, got a part out of his truck, and had that fixed in another 10 minutes. He stayed here long enough to check to make sure it was working. But then the cool air started coming through. It wasn’t a failure of the entire system, it was a failure of one of the components of the system. We had a lot of hot days, and it's worked fine. Leo Smith is a great company. It was a guy that really knew what he was doing, and I felt good about it.
The way the claim was processed through American Home Shield was fine. They were very quick. I put it in the system through the webpage. Then they identified who the repair person was, and he immediately got in touch with me. When I put in the request, it happened on a weekend. It was hard to get him out on a weekend, but he came Monday morning, and it was really prompt.

We have American Home Shield on a rental property and on our own personal home. Recently, the air conditioning unit on the rental property wasn’t coming on and I couldn't figure out what it was so I contacted American Home Shield. Somebody came out that they set up, and it was a thermostat that had to be replaced. His response and assessment were smack on. The unit was up and running within an hour or two once he walked in the door.

American Home Shield is a good service to have. When I filed a claim for the washing machine, the contractor called and asked me what was going on with it. I gave them the details about it and they told me what day they would be able to come. They were excellent. They said it was some type of switch that had gone bad and they repaired it.

Overall, American Home Shield is good and fast. I had a claim for a dishwasher and a contractor fixed it. An AC company came here on Monday and I heard that I need to replace the compressor. However, they need to contact American Home Shield and see if it'll be covered by the warranty or not. The technician said it might take three to four weeks and it's too hot right now.

There was a pipe that was cracked underneath the house. Plumbrus came out and the tech was very friendly. But they weren't able to address it at that time. They were going to submit an order.

My dishwasher wasn't working. I put it on then it looked like it was going to start. Then, it didn't stop. And you could almost smell the mildew inside the dishwasher because I hadn't used it. I called American Home Shield and they gave me the person who was going to come. The repair guy took care of business. He said it was the starter. When you close the door, it wasn't connecting with the computer and he fixed it on the spot. It was excellent. I've been using the dishwasher and it works perfectly. I haven't been with American Home Shield that long but they were very good. I had to use them before for my air conditioning unit and I hated the guy so, I asked them not to send him to me ever again. They gave me someone else and the person was perfect. I was very satisfied with AHS.

We had trouble with our dishwasher, and a company tried to fix it then we had problems with it within days after they were there. They came out again and thought it was the pump, so they put in a claim for a pump then it took a while to get back. When they got it back, the guy came out to put it in, but then it was leaking. He had somebody come and take my appliance somewhere else then within days again, it wasn't draining. We called American Home Shield then they had ARC come out. We could all hear the pump was bad again. They had to replace the pump, and they got it in. I saw it wasn't going again the first day, but now, it seems to be okay. Although the company before put in a not great part because it broke right before, ARC’s been great.
We have a few properties under American Home Shield and sometimes I haven't been happy with the people. I don't know if they do shady work or what they do, but we've had some issues with that. However, we continue to use American Home Shield because for the most part, especially for the smaller claims, they're good. Also, their online program, being able to put the claim in, is frictionless, which is a big plus.

We would turn on one of the burners on our range and it wouldn't turn off. So, I went online and filed the claim with American Home Shield. Within 24 hours, a gentleman from the Fix-It Guys named Bill called me. He asked what was going on with it and I told him. He said upfront that he probably didn’t have the part in his shop and that he would have to order it from AHS. I said okay and it wasn't 20 minutes after we got off the phone that there was an appointment scheduled. When the day came for him to show up, he was here, bright and early that morning. He fixed the burner and was out the door probably within 20 minutes. It was wonderful. It was very streamlined and effective. AHS was well worth the money I spent for it. It's peace of mind. I'm in insurance sales myself so I understand the importance of having a little bit extra help, especially when you buy a new house, and you don't know what's going to go wrong.

When I requested service for my water heater that went out, it was super easy. The repairman was very professional the first time he came. The second time, he came with another gentleman and they were very professional as well. They were very quick and neat too. The only thing that I would say negative is getting the billing right. When I called American Home Shield, they quoted me for the second time almost double the price of what the contractor was going to charge me. I initially almost said no both times. Their customer service is 50-50. You can get someone who is well-spoken or even with the language barriers, which is totally fine. But sometimes, they're really hard to understand. If I were to say, “I'm sorry, can you repeat that,” they kind of get a little more agitated.

American Home Shield has been very helpful and responsive. It's been a very positive experience. One claim I had was for the dishwasher and a technician came out. He was very nice. He couldn't get the dishwasher fixed because there were too many issues with it, so American Home Shield agreed to do a replacement. It's a very nice replacement and that got installed just a little bit ago. My other claim was for the washing machine that had a broken sensor in it. A repairman fixed that and the unit has been up and running since. On both times they've been quick and friendly. American Home Shield has been very much worth the money so far. I'm very happy I made the decision to get the warranty.

The hot water heater went out. The guys that came out were knowledgeable and they explained everything to me. I was very careful on watching how they operated and I appreciated both of them. They both had on their mask and they didn't take it off around me if they ever did. I was happy about that. The only thing was I did not hear from anybody what was going on. The contractor told me that American Home Shield should be contacting me. A rep told me that they would replace the unit and what I need to do. I just kept in contact with the contractor.
Also, I initially paid for some parts and then, I got a call that a mistake was made. I had the platinum policy, which covers that extra charge that I was charged for. The American Home Shield rep apologized and they're going to reimburse me the amount. I was glad that's how American Home Shield did it because they could have not told me anything and I would have never known any different. And since they called me back and told me what they did, it made me take out another policy on another house. I feel like they are a good company to continue with.

We've had AHS for three years now and we've only recently had to use it. They provided a good service. My washing machine broke. I appreciated that the people came out and they fixed it. But it broke the very next day. It was just fixed for one whole day. American Home Shield sent them back out without recharging me another fee. Then the washing machine was not salvageable, so they gave us money to get a new one.
Then our water heater broke the week after. AHS hooked us up with somebody who wasn't going to be able to come out for two weeks. I called American Home Shield and said, "That's just too long. Can you hook us up with someone more local?" And they did. The company came out and fixed it. We only were out of hot water for a weekend. However, sometimes I end up paying into it more than I pay out of it, but I'm always glad I have AHS when I need it. But if they ever want to randomly make their prices less, that will be fine, too.

The two techs were very professional. It wasn't long before they got out after I submitted the claim. They did the job and cleaned up after themselves. Sometimes it's hard to get a specific trade, like a plumber or an electrician that you need. With a home warranty, you can always get the trade that you need. You can get the ball started on the weekend as well.

The claim with Stephan Lawrence Construction has been taken care of. They came out, did the job, and left everything the way it was supposed to be. However, my recent experience with American Home Shield has not been very good. I have a washer that's broken and I haven't got anybody to come out. I've contacted the contractor, Affordable Services, myself but they haven't responded to me. I'm a little bit upset about that.

Every time we've called with an issue, AHS has made arrangements to have the problem resolved. Typically, when we call, we get a contractor assigned to us that day. If not that day, that morning, and then the contractor calls us. Recently, there was a strange smell coming from the water heater. It got a little bit more pronounced with time. And that was after the tech that AHS sent had replaced the thermocouple. So, we weren't very comfortable with keeping the garage door closed, because the hot water heater sits in the garage, but it's on the wall where my youngest daughter's bedroom is. We had called to have the tech come back out again to check and see if there was a leak.
The first time, he diagnosed the issue and repaired it. Then, the second time he came out, he did a thorough inspection on it to make sure, and he found a tiny leak and tightened up the fittings on there and did another leak test to make sure it stopped. He even checked the meter outside, where the natural gas comes into the hot water heater. He did a very thorough job checking the leak. Now, it's working fine, it was like before the thermocouple went out. There's no smell and no indication of a leak around any of the piping. The hot water works like it should, too.

Our first experience with American Home Shield was a multifunction microwave. It went out in April and we got it fixed some time mid to late July, because of a parts situation. It was not necessarily on the part of American Home Shield but it could have been expedited a little better than it was. Our second experience was on our refrigerator where the icemaker kept acting up. We paid $100 deductible and AHS told us it was a manufacturer warranty issue. So, we called the manufacturer. They came out and replaced the whole unit. AHS didn't have to do anything but tell us that the warranty needed to be tended to. The third was a dishwasher. The tech came out and he was here for less than 30 minutes, taking time to bring tools back and forth. It was a simple float thing he had to flip over. So it was no big deal for AHS.
Our current problem, which is most distressful, is our freezer went out. And AHS sent somebody out and supposedly fixed it. They made their effort but it didn't solve the problem. So, AHS sent a technician back. He said we needed evaporators and would need clearance to order those evaporators. A day went by and again, our groceries are spread all over the neighborhood, which is more than a tiny bit of an inconvenience. He came back with a phone call and said that AHS has decided to replace my refrigerator. That was yesterday and today, we got an email.
My husband is somewhat senior and he took it upon himself to pick an option that he didn't understand. I followed up within a half hour of finding out which option he took, which was not the correct one, and got a hold of a representative in Appliance Replacement. Shae was a very kind and efficient woman. She said that the choice he made, which was an eCard, has not gone through yet and she would make every effort to stop it. She would let me know by a follow up call. An hour or so went by, I got the follow up call from Shae and she said that the eCard did not go through. I asked her if we had all three options open and she said yes. I thanked her, asked her name and if there was a callback that I could have in case there were any continuing issues.
About 45 minutes later, my husband got an email from American Home Services stating that the eCard went through, of which we were told exactly the contrary. I called back again and was asked to be on hold for probably 30 minutes. I spoke to a gentleman named Brian and he checked back and forth and kept me on hold several times, which I totally understand. He couldn’t tell me for sure if the eCard had gone through or not but it looked like it had. I explained to him what Shae had told me and he said that he didn’t see notes to that effect. I said that it was not on my plate. Shae told me and confirmed that all three options were open.
My last conversation with Brian was he would send me an email and someone would call me back within the day and let me know the outcome of that. My time with Brian ended at 1:30pm, Pacific Standard Time. I told him if I didn't hear back, and that if there wasn't an acceptable resolution to this or what was confirmed to us that all three options were open, I would turn American Home Shield over to the Better Business Bureau, which I fully intend to do. At this point, there has been no resolution to the current problem and I was promised a callback, which I haven't got.

I had a claim for the washer and I wasn't really happy with my experience with American Home Shield. The contractor they assigned reached out and they told me they would be doing the diagnosis over the phone to see what the issue is. I tried to find out more detail and what exactly I would be expected to do for the diagnosis. The tech couldn't answer me. I asked him how long it would take because I need to figure out if I need to take time off of work to do it, even though I work from home, and he didn't give me an answer. He said he would walk me through it when we do it.
I called AHS to see if I can get a different contractor because if he couldn't even answer me and tell me what was expected of me, then I'd prefer to have somebody who's going to just come out and do it. AHS told me that the virtual diagnosis was a service that they were allowing their contractors to do. They told me they could call the contractor back and have the contractor come out to the house. I got off the phone with them and the contractor called me back. I asked if they were gonna be able to have someone come out and the guy started getting really rude and nasty. I started to feel uncomfortable with the idea of how this guy was talking to me and him coming to my home.
I called AHS back and I requested a different contractor. They told me that they couldn't give me a different contractor and the rep put me on hold for a really long time. When he got back on, he said he called the same contractor back, explained my concern, and the contractor is gonna send someone out. At that point, I was ready to just cancel it and forget it and figure out how to get my washer fixed myself.
Then, the air conditioner stopped working so I called. It was a Friday morning and a guy from Union Express came out that same day, a couple of hours after I called. He said the issue was the motor for the outside unit and he had to see if he could get the part. He was able to get that part and he came out. But then, when he tried to fix it, there was something wrong with the fan too and he said he was gonna have to order that part. He contacted me throughout the process, letting me know around the day it was supposed to come. As soon as it came, he called me and he came that same day and fixed it. He tried to get everything up and running as soon as possible and I appreciate that.

We were having issues with our tankless hot water heater. Water didn't come out of the spigot in the master bathroom and was just dribbling out. The techs had to replace both bathroom spigots but neither one of them was any good. We had the spigot in the sink done and they had to replace the hot water heater. On the whole, the claim costs us a lot of money, but the techs did a nice job and they were very easy to get along with. The professionalism and quality of service were 100%. We got everything back to normal. We have hot water and the spigots are coming out fine.

The freezer part of my refrigerator was throwing the water out. It was getting cold, and then it would defrost completely and will not get cold again. Then get cold again two or three hours later, and then defreeze again. So it was on and off doing that. I was so upset with the first technician that American Home Shield sent in. He came in on a Friday and he doesn’t work on weekends, so he said, “Well, I need to put this in and I’ll order some parts.” I was okay with that.
My husband has medication for diabetes that has to be cold. We also have medication for arthritis that has to be cold too. I thought the technician was gonna order the parts right away and then he would be back by Tuesday. But he did not come back, so I called Home Shield. The Home Shield rep told me that the technician said there was nothing wrong with our refrigerator.” I’m like, “Excuse me.
The rep put me through the technician and I said, “Excuse me, sir. I got a question. How you gonna tell my insurance there is nothing wrong with my refrigerator?” He said, “Hold on. First of all, you don't call me to my phone upset and screaming at me or whatever. Because that's wrong thing to do.” Then I said, “Well, sir, my thing is, why I haven't heard anything from you?” He told me that I was not gonna talk to him that way. But he didn't say anything to me. Two days later, I got an email from Home Shield saying, “You got a new person to come in and take care of this refrigerator.” So that first guy didn't want to come back and fix my refrigerator.
The second technician was from Martin's Appliance Repair. He had a cancellation and he came right away to look at my refrigerator. He diagnosed the problem and then he said, “I will get it running for you,” which I had to wait for the following week. But he came back and changed what he needed to change. My refrigerator has been working perfectly fine. Martin's was amazing.
When I put in my order for the refrigerator, I told American Home Shield it had to be an emergency because I needed to have medication in there that needed to be cold. But they didn't respond the way they should have. If something that’s really major like that, they should really have somebody that they will say, “Okay, we're gonna do this and order the parts overnight and have it done.” Because sometimes, people do need the stuff working the right way. But it took a little bit too long for our claim.

American Home Shield has been good as far as responsiveness is concerned and getting people out here quickly. The one thing I was afraid of was that I was gonna have to wait for a week till someone comes out, but that has not been the case so far. Everything's been easy. I call them and they have local contractors. I had someone come out today so the timeliness of the response was good too. The tech was professional and diagnosed the problem quickly. He was able to fix it quickly too. We just bought a house, which was probably 20 years old, and it's nice to have a warranty on it, knowing that there's a safety net because you don't know what's gonna break next.

American Home Shield has been great. They recently dispatched ATR for my HVAC unit that was leaking. The technician looked at it, said he couldn't fix it and that he was gonna transfer it over to someone else. He said he would call American Home Shield. When I called American Home Shield, they said they hadn't received the call yet. They said they were gonna reassign Brick Street Plumbing. I thought, initially, they would come out ‘cause I told them it was an emergency. They gave me a date. They called back by the next day and said, “Unfortunately, we can't do that. We can’t come back out until three days later." They called back on that same day when they were supposed to came out and said, “We definitely will be out tomorrow.” They did show up the next day and fixed it. The technicians were nice but Bricks kept giving me different times. But I'm happy that the unit was fixed.

Some services of American Home Shield are fine but some aren’t. I had one service that was scheduled for my microwave and I was told technicians were going to come out. But they didn't show up. I had another claim for my garage door because the handheld things weren't opening and closing the door. American Home Shield set an appointment up and the contractor that came was terrific. Everything is fine right now. The repair made it easier for me to use my garage door.

The pilot light of the water heater went out. When the tech came last week, they informed me that if it goes out again, to have my attic fan checked. So, it went out a couple of days later again and I had the attic fan replaced and the pilot light re-lit. And then it went out again. Myers came yesterday and they were fine. They said it was some error code they were getting, they couldn't get it to relight, and that they had to order a part. I'm just waiting on a part to be approved and ordered. It's an easy process with American Home Shield. They also keep you informed of everything, the name of the tech, even a picture, so it's good.

Previous repairs were done last year. And 45 days after my central air was repaired, it broke again. American Home Shield made me pay another fee because they said it was past 30 days. I asked the guy how long it would last this time. He said it could be 45 days, a year, or six months. He couldn't give me the exact time. But I've come to the conclusion that's how American Home Shield makes their money. They send out repair people who repair things that don't last long. And I got to pay that copay again. Also, when my dishwasher broke, they put in a new one that was substandard to what I had. They do not replace things with the same order that I have. They give the cheapest thing they could find.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Usually, when I turn the air on, it turns right on. I turned it on but I didn't hear it come on. I noticed that when it came on, warm air was coming out. I went outside to look at the unit and the fan was not blowing. It was just the motor. That next morning, I went down and checked out my furnace. It wasn't coming on. I went to the hardware and bought new fuses. I put them in and there was nothing. The light wouldn’t come on on the furnace. After that, I called American Home Shield and got their contractor to come out. It was a fuse in the furnace that was causing the fan not to come on. After that was done, I tried my air. Still, the fan wasn't coming on on the unit outside. That was when I called back and had them come out to check the air conditioner out. A guy came out and I told him I just had somebody out a few days ago. He mentioned I could combine the service so I wouldn't have to pay a deductible again.
He told me to cut the unit on. When I went and turned it on, it went back out. The fan was blowing. It was strange because we had been trying the unit, and the fan wouldn’t come on. It was just warm, regular air coming out of my vent. After that, he opened it up and was looking around. He pressed on something that was on the top and that turned it on. He told me to look and I did. It was sticky, and it had stuff down. It wasn't coming on. That was what was causing the fan not to come on and he changed that. After he said that, I went in and cut the power off so he could go in the little box. After he finished putting the thing back on, it wouldn’t work. He started looking down on the side where something would come out from the furnace. It was the wire that had came loose. I set the service off again and he put the wire back then everything was working. He seemed like he was trying to find out exactly what was wrong with it. He took his time to do it. He did a good job.
I will recommend American Home Shield because anybody that's in a certain business can come out and do whatever they need to do if you call them for whatever it is that you need them for in your home. What put a stamp on it for me was that a year ago, I had trouble with my plumbing. It’s a lot the same thing going on. I was wondering if I call and it's the same problem, do I have to pay a deductible again? I called American Home Shield and we came to a resolution that I didn't have to pay that deductible again. They sided with me after I explained.
I didn’t get a chance to call American Home Shield to tell them I wasn't pleased with the plumbing people that came out because where water was coming up from, the plumber said, “We can't go down there because something is blocking.” I couldn't understand. It's a sewer in my basement. If it's coming up, why would he say there’s something blocking it? It was two guys where one had been with the company a long time, and he had been training this other guy. This other guy came with nice jeans on and nice gym shoes. He was doing plumbing work but he was trying not to let water splash on him. I wasn't pleased with him at all.

Appliance Service Plus checked my washer and dryer. They found out that when the washer would start going into its rinse cycle, it would keep spitting water and it would never go into a full rinse. They had to order the board and then, they had to come back out and put the board in once they got it. General house appliances tend to fail after contracts and American Home Shield worked on those for us. The only thing I had a problem with a long time ago was the plumbing. I needed somebody fast and they had to schedule somebody, and it was way outside. I had to pay somebody local to do it.
AHS tries to schedule a service as soon as possible but it depends on everything with them as well as the urgency with the customer. I had a sink that was backed up and the line was underneath into the wall. I couldn't reach it with my auger so it was beyond my scope. I got a private one to do it and he came and had to go almost all the way down to the sewer line. So, AHS did not have the capability to tell me it was right away. But follow up was always good before with them. We stayed with AHS and we worked all the way through with them until they replaced my refrigerator because it kept failing. But that wasn't AHS’ problem. It was the unit.

I made a service request for the garage door and the website had an auto-response. They kicked it back within a minute or two and there was an instruction that a representative will contact me via cellphone and/or email in the next business day. I received the email that day and sometime that afternoon, somebody from Alliance Garage called me. The tech asked me what the problem was and gave me a quick diagnosis on the phone. That was Monday and he came out on Wednesday. He came out first thing in the morning. The guy pulled up in his truck, did a meet and greet real quick, and then I showed him what the problem was. Within five minutes, it was fixed. Also, he showed me how to resync it if the issue happens again in the future.

Our recent claim was the pressure valve in the garage for the water. I know my contract. I told American Home Shield what it was, verified that it was covered, and the rep gave me Lake. And Lake was great. The tech saw the part, but they didn't make it anymore. He was semi-aware of that because I had sent him a picture of that part. And we had the holiday coming up. They ordered it, and he was back within a week. Put it in less than an hour. He had to cut and form it. I'm very satisfied with what he did.

The techs said I might have bumped my thermostat and that there was a loose wire upstairs. They tightened up the wire and they turned it from being two connections to one connection to just something. It was a pretty simple fix. They were well-mannered and efficient. With AHS's service, I don't have to worry about having to pay for the large things like condensers, compressors and all that kind of stuff. There's the ease of having someone come out. I just call them. The only drawback is sometimes they don't send people out right away like on a weekend. With this claim, I ended up waiting. I found out on a Thursday, and the techs weren't able to come out until Monday morning.

I requested service online from AHS. My problem was with the furnace and I needed to request for service on the AC, but it came up as heat. So, I'm not sure what I clicked that was wrong, but that was one glitch. Then the techs came out, and they were professional and quick. They also came when they said they were going to come and when I had questions, they answered them. They had masks and when I asked them if they could wear shoe coverings, they had their own, which was great. A lot of times, I usually have to provide that.
But they had to come to the house three times. The first time, it was because the AC was low on refrigerant, so they had to de-freeze, which made sense. Then, they had to come back to fix it which was not an issue. But then, one of the guys didn't put the furnace back on properly, so I was getting no air. So, they had to come out the third time. Aside from that, I need to have my house rekeyed and that is one whole service. With the warranty, I have to pay $100 to have my house rekeyed, whereas it's $100 to come out to see if my stove is functioning. That is a bit annoying.

AHS has fixed and replaced everything I've needed and it’s been very quick. It's hard to talk to people when I call to file a claim, though, so I do it online. A recent claim was when my toilet was wiggly. I called and the contractor, NW Sundance Services, came out the next day. The plumber seemed to know what she was doing and fixed it. I have one small complaint, though. The main reason I bought the whole package was for my heat pump and they said that they would replace it 100% if they couldn't fix it. But when I had to have it replaced, the company still charged me $900. They said that the unit was over what AHS would pay them so they charged me the difference. $900 is a lot of money, but it was worth it to get a brand new heat pump and furnace and all the work that they did. I would gladly pay it but I would have liked to have known upfront that that was going to be done.

Nick's Plumbing & Heating fixed the hot water valve for the washer that was leaking, and also the O-ring underneath the toilet in one of the bathrooms that was also leaking. The tech was professional and knowledgeable. Everything's running just fine. There are no leaks. I was satisfied that someone got out here quickly and fixed it. I also didn't have to have someone come back out and fix the same issue. I would recommend AHS.

My dryer stopped working a few weeks ago. I called American Home Shield and the vendor that came out fixed it within a week. In my recent claim, Plumbing Enterprises LLC came for my shower and diagnosed the problem quickly. I haven't had issues since then. There was just one vendor that came out to fix my washer which I ended up being without it for almost three months. They said it was one issue, then they had to wait three weeks for a part. They came back and fixed that, and then when they went to run the cycle for the washer, the Control Panel went out, and it was over a month to wait for that part to come in. It's hit or miss depending on the vendor that AHS contacts to come out to do work.

My garage door openers would not work. I called American Home Shield and customer service did a good job. They told me that Flash Garage Door company would give me a call to set up an appointment. Techs came and found that something happened with the circuit board. They reprogrammed my garage door openers. The experience was fine.

When you submit a claim to AHS, you go through a lot of recordings. But I prefer to speak to somebody. So, sometimes it is a little challenging. But for the most part, the process has worked. Also AHS has done what they've said. But right before we moved into this property, I had purchased a new water heater and had it installed after we had moved in. For some reason, that water heater failed. The plumbing company that AHS had took about 10 days to get there. I bought a premium water heater and I told the contractor that wanted the very same brand. They said they had to order that and it took a few extra days. So it was about three weeks cold showers. But things seemed to work pretty well up until this part.
We had a claim for the AC and the contractor came out pretty quick and replaced one part. It did stop arcing, but we were still experiencing some air conditioning problems. They have ordered a circuit board but it hasn’t come in yet. We've had some AC failures, but it seems to be limping along fine right now. We had two claims to AHS within a couple of weeks. Prior to the air conditioning issue, we had a washing machine issue. AHS called someone and the contractor came right out the next day. They said the issue was a bearing and then we didn't hear anything. I called AHS back and they said, “Yes, the part has been ordered.” But still nothing had happened. A week later, we called the service people that came out and they said, “No. They approved to replace your washing machine.” But no one ever told us anything. We still haven't done anything about it. The bearing in the washing machine is extremely loud.

The electric garage door opener stopped working. I called American Home Shield and as the guy told me I had to do, all claims had to be started online. I found it to be a pain that I had to go back online and start the claim. Finally, Garage Doors of Winston-Salem came out and they ended up replacing a sensor in my door. I had another claim about my TV that blew up and it was between Allstate and American Home Shield. But every time American Home Shield gave me a link to follow, it was a nonworking link and that aggravated me so I had to call them several times. But it's been solved.

I'm happy about American Home Shield. They did good. I called in to report the stove and the dishwasher, and the rep was knowledgeable. The response from the repair team was good as well. The person showed up on time, took care of the stove and the dishwasher and was professional and respectful. He has been to my house three times, and all those three times, he explained the problem, the process of it and left everything clean before he left.

The air conditioning quit working over the weekend and a contractor was out on Monday. They were polite and they got right to the point. They pretty much figured what was wrong before they even really looked at it. The experience was great all the way around.

I'm kind of on the fence with American Home Shield. I‘ve had them forever. I started out at Topeka and out there, they were out within a week or so after I call them. Then I moved down here and it's months before I get anything fixed. My dishwasher went out and it was a month before someone came out and three months before they fixed it. Then, it lasted 45 days and it went out again. They told me they're gonna let me replace the dishwasher so I went and got one. I got the same model they had in their line and when I called for somebody to install it, they said they wouldn't since I didn't buy it from them.
I also had a refrigerator claim and they couldn't find the part in the United States. We found one but we couldn't bring it in. They still sat on it and they finally said they can't fix it. Two months later, the part showed up at my door. In the meantime, I lived out of a cooler. The techs that have come out and worked on my stuff have been pretty decent and pretty knowledgeable. But AHS could improve their timeframe in getting someone out. It shouldn't take them a month or two to have someone out to the customer's house to see what's wrong and that long to fix it. They also need to get the timeframe down a little bit closer - if it's 8:00 to noon and noon to 5:00.

I’m not too thrilled right now with American Home Shield. They could improve on their communication. I used them for my AC unit. They had somebody come out and fix the AC unit finally. That took a week and a half. A contractor came out and looked at my washer. It took them a week to do that. They tried to fix it but couldn’t. Several weeks had passed now and I thought I was gonna be receiving the amount that American Home Shield was sending me but I hadn’t got it yet. I recently called them and asked them about it. They told me that I gotta submit a receipt of purchase for a new unit, when I thought they were sending me the amount to help me buy the new unit. I then sent them a receipt but I hadn’t got any confirmation. I emailed two different people but there was no email or anything saying that American Home Shield is reimbursing my money.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

I scheduled the service through the website, but I never received an actual call back from the contractor, so I called them to schedule an appointment. When I sent in the claim, I was told in the email that it was going to be one to two days for the contractor to reach out. So I proactively reached out to them on the second day and they were able to schedule me fairly quickly. I got a call on the day of the scheduled service that their technician was in the area, but she would be coming a little bit later. She arrived around 4:30 pm, and she was there till about 6:00. She did a great job. I told her which doors to make keys for, and it took about an hour and a half or so, and it was completed to my satisfaction.

The Water Heater Solutions tech was here for about half an hour and straightened out the problem. He had a little plunger thing that goes in the center of the vacuum tank. He brought that thing up and replaced it with a new part. It started working right away.

There was a plumbing leak in my pool equipment. I called AHS and a pool company called within a couple of hours, which was unusual. Breakthrough Pools came out and the tech cut the pipe and installed a new one. Then he glued it back together, turned the system off, and said not to use it for 24 hours. We turned it on the next day and it was fine. Breakthrough Pools was very courteous. The tech spoke with me before and after. He texted me pictures and an explanation of what to do. My experience with AHS has been good. The only thing I will say was when we had the air conditioning go out at the beginning of the summer, it took them 10 days and we had no air for 10 days. That was crazy because it was 100 degrees outside.

There was a lot of water leaking out from the bottom of the water heater. After placing a claim online, American Home Shield sent out a plumber to check it out. The plumber took the front panel off and it was full of water, which he said was not something that could be repaired. The whole thing had to be replaced. American Home Shield replaced the whole unit. I met both the gentlemen who replaced the unit and they were really good. They knew what they were doing. They were very polite, courteous, and professional. Our water heater is working and everything's perfect. I've been down to check and we are getting hot water.
I've always been really lucky with American Home Shield and never really had many problems with any of the warranty claims I made with them. When techs came out a few times to try and repair my dishwasher, American Home Shield didn't want to spend any more money on it and decided I needed a new one. They're going to replace that too. I already placed an order. I am so impressed with American Home Shield and recommend them to everybody that I talk to.

My refrigerator door wasn't closing well and the broiler of my stove was not working. Someone came out and he was fantastic. It was one of the best visits I've had. He fixed the door very quickly and he ordered a part for the boiler. I was supposed to get the part in two weeks but I got it in a week. He called me, came over, and fixed the stove. I also had one major claim with American Home Shield when I had a flood here from a hose that was leaking in the refrigerator. They were great. It's important to have warranties for unexpected events. That is the reason I have American Home Shield. So far, I feel good about my service with them.

The air conditioner claim was not blowing cold. I called AHS and Right Tech Heating and Air came out. The tech didn't tell me much and I had to ask all the questions. He had somebody with him and I was doing more talking with the guy he was training. Then now, the AC is out again and he's supposed to come back out.
What I would like to see modified with Home Shield are some of the coverages and some of the things. I had a leak in my bathtub. When they called me about that leak, they told me that I was getting a bathtub and a shower. I kept telling them I am not getting a bathtub and a shower, I'm only getting a piece fixed in the shower. The guy had to come back and do modifications and I had to pay for the modifications, which I think Home Shield should cover at least some of because we pay them monthly. Also, when I had to put the Freon in the air conditioner, they only covered $10 a pound. That's nothing when it costs $95 a pound. Other than that, I like Home Shield in a lot of ways because being a homeowner, I've tried to get things fixed or done in the house just for renewing things. I don't have to call the contractors and if the contractor calls me and they're nasty, I just call Home Shield back immediately and tell them I can't work with that contractor.

The technician changed the thermostat and the other part that makes the water heat. Our water after that has been good. He was professional and I like him. I was not afraid to talk to him because he wore his mask. I had a problem with my smoke detector and he helped me. He told me to call the Fire Department because they know.

The guy who lives in my mom's neighborhood told me there was nothing wrong with my air conditioner and put Freon in it and charged me 145 bucks. But it sounded like when you throw a pair of shoes in the washer. There was that thunking noise. He said he didn’t hear anything but it was loud and I could hear it outside. So, Larry's Heating and Air came over and I told them. They have a reputation in town as being good and they went out of their way to get things ordered overnight. The only issue I had was they said they were going to order them but it had to get approved through American Home Shield. While they were trying to get approved, AHS closed the ticket and I had to call them back and get them to reopen it.
My air conditioner wasn’t coming on a lot so I didn’t think much about the claim. Then, we had a hot day and I came home from work and the AC was doing it again and it had been a week. So, I called the contractor and they said that they never even got the authorization. The girl called me three times that day then she would let me hear that she was on hold. It was a while that she was trying to get through to somebody to see if they got approval. But it took two weeks. It was a Thursday when she got approval and she had the piece overnighted in and the tech fixed it the next day.

The dishwasher wouldn't complete the cycle. It kept going off. The contractor called and said they would be out. They wanted to make sure we were home. They were professional and told me what the problem was. They ordered a motherboard for it and it was sent to me. It took a couple of months and then, I called them when we got it in. I can't believe the dishwasher is working again and I didn’t have to do dishwashing anymore. AHS is well worth it and I have told people that. They've had some problems and I said that they should contact American Home Shield and get a warranty. It's not that expensive and it may pay off by the end of the year.

My AC unit was leaking. It was a backup of gunk and the tech was able to clean it out. Then, it started making noise and he was able to tighten some screws. So, it's running fine now. He was polite and took care of everything.

Out of all the people that have come to my house to deal with my pool, I really liked the Finkel guys because they came the same day that I called American Home Shield. Everything was leaking and cracked and they ended up replacing the filter, cracked pipe and oxidizer. We paid them separate for the oxidizer because they said the warranty wouldn't cover it. The other thing that I had done recently was my portable countertop icemaker. I don't know what that man did to that icemaker, but that thing stays filled with ice. He was good. It was a little long-winded with him, but I'm satisfied. I didn't even know a countertop icemaker could make that much ice.

Cartrette's Heating & Cooling came in to check my heater. It has a motor that pulls the exhaust fumes out before the heater turns on and the motor itself was not working properly. It turns off for a little bit to make sure that it turns the gases off, but because it was messed up, it didn't go through the whole cycle and it was shutting down. The heater never turned on. The tech ordered the part and they waited for approval from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield twice about the issue and they never called me back. I'm going through the process of selling this house so I can't be waiting for it. I asked the tech how much it was and he said it was $150. I told him to buy the part and I would pay him. Then, he came in and installed the part.
The tech was nice and he tried to help me. Also, I do not have any problem with thes customer support. They did what they were supposed to do. But when it was passed to the person that's supposed to take care of it, it kind of went on the air. I have two more properties that I have American Home Shield and I'm thinking of just dropping them.

I had a leak under my sink and I called American Home Shield. The waiting time wasn’t too long. A&B Plumbing, the contractor, was fantastic. They came at a reasonable time and had a reasonable hour gap in between. They called me the next day of my appointment time and when they came in, they wore masks. I didn't have to ask them. They were very professional. Having the home warranty is beneficial because I can call when I have a problem and I don't have to search for plumbers in this case. I would have had to do some research and see who was the best price.

We had an issue with our air conditioner. It was leaking. We called the contractor to come out and they came out last week. It was the longest I've ever had to wait which was almost two weeks but it was because of covid. I called them to see if they could come earlier but they weren't able to. But it worked out. The guy that came was awesome. We had a different air conditioning company in the past that we weren't happy with but this guy was wonderful. He went over everything with me. The problem was resolved by the time he came and he didn't know if there was some kind of clog in the drain, so he went ahead and did some stuff to clean the drain. He checked the thing out the back and made sure everything was working correctly. He did a full diagnostic and everything was working appropriately, so we haven't had the problem. He was thorough and was here for a good time, even though the problem was gone.

Recently, where the doorbell is hooked up to the electrical was busted. The doorbell thing would stick and it would just buzz and buzz. I typed in "doorbell does not work" and I got a notice that Associated Electric would be there. They've been to my house before and they're great. The experience with AHS has been challenging because I did not know what was covered and what wasn't covered. When Associated fixed the doorbell the first time, I also said, "Well, this light that hangs down over the counter is fried." And they said, "Okay. We'll look at it, we'll put in the claim." Apparently, it wasn't covered. And I'm not an electrician, so I can't fix it.

We called American Home Shield and told them we needed the house rekeyed. They sent out a gentleman. He was very pleasant, outgoing, and took care of all our needs perfectly. We're very pleased with the policy, and I recommend anybody that buys a home that is not brand-new to get it. It’s very useful. I would definitely go with them again.

AHS should improve the contractor reaction time when a claim is called in. Getting in contact with the contractor or trying to get a status on when the contractor is going to come out is also an issue. Right now, my AC’s been out for the almost three weeks and I've had no contractors. I also can't get the person on the executive side that they assigned my case to on the phone or get them to return emails. Other than that, when I put the request in, for AHS to assign it to someone, that happened automatically. They didn't have somebody in my area that could do the work that I needed done previously, but I was able to bring in a local contractor to come in and do it, then they paid that local contractor.

The plumber from Honesty Mechanical was in and out in no time and fixed both of the plumbing issues I was having. I had one vendor that was less than honest and when I realized he was being less than honest, I called AHS and told them I wanted a second opinion. They sent somebody else out.

My washer wouldn't drain. It wouldn't agitate. The technician tried three times to fix it. And the third time, he said, "No, it can't be fixed." He recommended a new washing machine and put that into American Home Shield. They agreed with it and sent me two pictures of washing machine to replace it. They couldn't get me the first one and I didn't like the second one, so I went and bought my own one, and they're supposed to reimburse me for some money. Other than that, they were quick, the technicians were accurate, very nice, and they were in and out.

My unit wasn't cooling down the house enough. American Home Shield gave me May company and I researched about them. I found that they had lots of complaints. I called American Home Shield and let them know that I wanted another contractor. American Home Shield told me that they would not be able to send me another contractor, which was very disappointing. I pay for service and if I find out that one company is not up to my standards, I should have two or three others that I can call. But I didn't have a choice so I went along with it.
I was surprisingly happy with the service that I received from May. The gentleman who came was very helpful and customer-friendly. He told me that the capacitor was bad on my upstairs unit. He was there for 30 minutes. He said it would take nothing to put a new capacitor in there. He had the part so he fixed the unit right then and there. I asked him what my filter sizes were because I was going to go out that day and replace the filters. He gave me that. I asked him a question on how to keep the system from backing up and he pointed that out to me.
I'm a warranty kind of girl and I like security. American Home Shield keeps a lot of worry off of me. If something breaks, I most likely won't have a super major bill. Last year, I did. Even with American Home Shield, I had an enormous bill with something else. On the whole, I would tell others that I use American Home Shield. Their website is very user-friendly and easy to navigate through.
Right now I need to call American Home Shield again because I have a leak in my plumbing. This is a separate entity and I would have to pay a fee again. Mine is $125. If I call, I have two fears. One is I won't be able to get the same plumbing company that come out last year. I really liked the tech. My other fear is that American Home Shield would drop me. I called them two weeks ago for the heating and air. Now, I gotta call them back for the plumbing. Are they ever going to say, “No, we're not going to renew your policy.” That's always in the back of my head.

One of the PVC pipes at the water heater had a crack, and the repair company was out in two days, diagnosed it quickly, and repaired it. It took them all of 45 minutes and they did a great job. The advantage with a home warranty is that you get stuff repaired. The disadvantage is that many times I found out that some items aren't covered. The coverage is hard to decode sometimes, especially when one technician says, "This is what's wrong, " while another one, "No. This is what's wrong" and then American Home Shield, "This is what we'll cover." It happened to me with my air conditioning, a lot.

My air conditioning went out on a Sunday evening. True Air called me after I submitted the claim. I get good service when they come out. They normally explain to me exactly what went out. The tech showed me where one of the problems was up in the attic and then he went outside and told me everything that he had done. True Air was great. I've had other contractors that were not good. AHS sent some people who were not very professional and they were very-scary looking for me to let them in my house. A long time ago, after AHS sent out a couple of other people that did not do the jobs properly and I had to keep calling them out, I suggested True Air for their initial first two times coming. Because they always make sure that they do a great job.

AHS has nice people when you're talking to them. They have really good customer service. But it's like everybody is reading a different form of instructions and everybody has a different memo of how certain things should be done. There was something I had to call and call them about and they kept giving me a different story. But they're great at sending out somebody. TN Appliance came out for my refrigerator and they did an excellent job. The gentleman was a total professional. He didn't have the part and they had to order it. It took a little longer than he expected for the part to come and he called me and wanted me to be aware that it was behind.
But there have been a couple of times that they've been trying something down. My toilet broke and the issue was the inside mechanism. The plumber from Hers and His said it was negligence that it broke. Something inside the toilet is worn and they couldn't repair it. Another time was when I thought I had a leak in my sink. The gentleman said the issue was with where you turn the water off and on on the sink. He ordered the part. I had the soap dispenser as well and he told me it was broken. When he came, he didn't have the piece to replace it so he had to go and get it but I gotta get approval to get it. It took him a couple of days to come back and then when he came back, he brought the wrong one. I lost the soap dispenser and I've been without it. I was considering getting rid of AHS and I've been shopping around to find someone.

The company contacted me very quickly when I submitted a claim with AHS for a water leak, but they weren’t able to come out for a couple of days. It was all great when they came out, except they didn't have the part. So, it took another week before they could come out and make the repair. But I would recommend AHS. It's great to know that AHS is there to find me a contractor and I don't have to hunt around for one.

The only complaint I have is when the contractor came out, he didn’t quite fix the issue so he had to come back, then he didn't quite fix it so he had to come back again. They come out and work on it, and they say, “Hey, we ordered a part.” They don't slow down and say, “We ordered it. It's gonna come here to the house. When you get the part, you got to call us and tell us,” which doesn't sound right. I order stuff all the time. And every time somebody drops off something, I get a ding saying, “Hey, it's been delivered.” Why wouldn't they get a note saying the part has been delivered to the house? And they automatically call and say, “Hey, you have your part. We're gonna come see you.” Why would the customer have to sit around and say, “Man, where are these people?” Nobody calls. And then I call and they go, “Oh, your part came in?” “Yeah.” Weird. That should all be automated.
They're gonna get the call anyway, so they might as well get that note and then make a phone call out instead of sitting around waiting for people to call and wasting days and days. Because people get aggravated. It has been three weeks. If I have the part sitting around the house for a couple of days and they never called, nothing would happen. So, I gotta call them.
We used the warranty a couple of times and it seemed to be a lot easier to call somebody out here and they tell you, “Oh, it's gonna be 500 bucks to fix it,” when they could have fixed it for $50. But American Home Shield's guys come out and their goal is to get it fixed, not to sit there and take a bunch of money from us for making a service call. It seemed to be easier to deal with them instead of me calling the manufacturer reps, sitting around waiting. Their price is high, though. And I am thinking about it. It's $1,000 a year. 80 bucks or whatever it is a month. But it starts being auto-draft, we don’t pay attention to it. But then when we start adding it up in our head again, it's like, “Do I really need to keep it. Maybe not.”
They should maybe make it like what we do in the insurance business where people don't use their policy, we give discounts or claim free credits. And we give them a credit each year that they go without making a claim. That way, when they get a little wind blow and got a little damage, they figure out how to fix it themselves instead of making a claim. Because you go, “Uh-huh. Shoot. I'm about to let this thing go or just go to somebody else or whatever.” It's not for anything other than it doesn’t add up to $1,000 a year.
The guy that came out last time was really good. We had some problems with the person before, two years ago when we had some problems with the icemaker and it was horrible. So, I made sure that he never came back to my house just because it took forever to make an appointment. And then I make an appointment, and guess what? He came in and couldn't do it. The last service was outsourced to somebody in New Jersey. They were professional. The person that came seemed to be well-organized and on time.

My air conditioner wouldn't shut off. It was just blowing air and it wasn't cooling. The contractor called and asked what the problem was before they came. From that, they knew what to look for. They had to get a part to be able to get it going. They provided excellent service. We had a problem but they're fixing it. On a Friday, the leg of the gentleman who came to fix the AC fell through the ceiling. By Monday, they already had someone come out and repair. Today, they come back and paint the ceiling where it was damaged. They took care of it right away and I'm pleased with them. They were very thorough. Having AHS has been great. For someone who is not computer literate, I can always manage their website.

Except for one incident, American Home Shield has been all right. An icemaker, freezer and the refrigeration part of the icebox lights went out so we had Runyon Appliance come out. I paid my $100 deductible and they fixed the issues. About two months later, they broke down. But I was busy so I didn’t get to call American Home Shield until a little bit after 90 days. They sent Runyon Appliance out but Runyon wouldn’t do it for the fact that American Home Shield wouldn’t pay them. They put the buck on me so I said I'd cancel that appointment. I tried to explain to Runyon that they put the lights in and two months later, they went out. There should be some kind of warranty that they can collect payment from whoever gave them the lights. To date, I don't have any lights in my refrigerator or my freezer and it’s a pain especially at night.
I don't like Runyon Appliance. They got zero personality. They just come and go. But American Home Shield keeps on sending them. I've asked them not to send them and assign the claim to somebody else. They said okay but sure enough, they sent Runyon out here again. They're the most worthless refrigeration people I've ever met. They do a crappy job. Everybody talks about them in town and they hate them.
I almost dropped American Home Shield and went with my previous home warranty provider. There should be better communication with American Home Shield 'cause every time I get on the line with them, it’s a foreigner, and I can barely understand them. They don't communicate well. It's broken English and you have to repeat yourself several times. They obviously haven't been trained very well. American Home Shield should not hire people that can't speak English. Nobody wants to work in America anymore but they should try to get people that are trained well and that have good solid English-speaking ability. If they don't, everybody is gonna have a problem with that. I'm hard of hearing, much less not being able to understand them. I hadn’t had time to shop around, but there's gotta be some improvement or I'm gonna get rid of American Home Shield.
They got the capability of being a good company, and they do have good pricing. They're one of the largest or the largest home warranty company nationwide. You know that they're not gonna mess you over, at least from the onset of any kind of service that you need as far as claims. They're willing to go over and above in a lot of respect. I had a heat pump go out and they normally don't cover that, but they did contribute. All I had to pay for was a little bit of labor which would have cost me even more if they didn't help out. That was something that I was impressed with. But they should exclude the items that they're not gonna cover on the equipment. My heat pump is something that's commonly used. It transfers the heat to the back bedrooms or the back part of the house faster so you don't have to run water for 15 minutes. By the same token, it's commonly used widely by a lot of people that have the same issue.

The process on AHS's website is a lot better than waiting on hold to have somebody get on the phone and talk. I liked the fact there's an area where I can leave a comment or something else that has to do with my claim. AHS said that a technician from Expert Pools. was assigned to my claim and that they would let me know 30 minutes ahead of time. Expert Pools was really good. This was an easy experience with AHS. Sign up with them right away.

I love the process with American Home Shield. Recently, the gear had broken on the garage opener. It would start to open but it would stop after about an inch that it would open. I was gonna look for American Home Shield's number online to file the claim, but it was so simple to submit it right there instead. I didn't have to have my account number. I just used my address right in. Then I got the contractor's phone number and a message telling me to go ahead and contact them to to set the appointment up. It was Wednesday that I submitted the claim and Friday, the technician was out here. The issue was fixed within minutes of him arriving. He was awesome.
It's been three times that I've called American Home Shield and two times that they had to do something. Every experience has been awesome and I'd recommend them to others. I did my research before when I was purchasing this house and found out which home warranty company I wanted to go with. It's a rough business out there. A lot of them, either the reps don't know that they're covering something or they try not to cover something.

We bought our house four years ago and kept the home warranty. It worked for us and haven't had any denied claims. We had several things replaced when we first moved in. The oven was broken and that got replaced. We just had them out to do the thermostats for the AC and that got replaced that same day. Techs also came out here and diagnosed our fan motor. They then had it replaced in a day or two and everything went well. I just paid the deductible for American Home Shield. Everything has been great so far. Give American Home Shield a try.

I noticed some leaking from our powder room. There was some water on the ceiling of our garage, which is directly below the powder room. I did the claim online and the website was straightforward. The contractor came in a timely manner. They resealed around the toilet and there hasn't been a leaking since.

The blade at the bottom of my dishwasher that sprays out the water was broken. The contractor was cool. They were gonna come out and put the needed piece on but when they called me, I told them that I already had the piece on and the dishwasher is working perfectly. The only thing that I wish they would have told me was that I could have ordered the piece myself and got it fixed quicker. If someone told me that, it would have been cheaper to order it and put it on myself. The piece only costs $30 and I had to spend $100 for the contractor to come out. Other than that, AHS has done pretty good by me. One of my electrical lightings for my house went out and they were able to come fix it.

River City Electric came out and what they did was very simplistic. They showed me the button in my kitchen to push to reset. It was a very brief appointment but the way they worked was good. I've recommended American Home Shield to several friends that have bought houses. They need to have more for me though because I’m not mechanical and I need that. But it’s a welcome assurance that if I have a problem, I can call and make contact with somebody who knows how to reach out to others that are more skilled and knows how to resolve the problem.
It's been two years that I've had AHS and I’ve got to check and see if my payment is due. This year, they ended up doing it on a monthly basis and that was not what I wanted. I wanted to maybe pay for it either in two payments or in quarterly payments. But it works out fine and that was my only disappointment with AHS. It's not major and it might have been that I communicated it improperly.

American Home Shield is good. My daughter has had them for years already, and she's not had no problem with them. The only thing is getting to a repair person. I have a handicapped husband, so I have to have my air. Recently, the unit all of a sudden made a loud noise. It was a fan blower that went out. The first guy said it was going to be five days away and I couldn't put my husband in the hotel for five days. He couldn't care less and was very sarcastic. He was worthless. He's not acceptable in the workforce. That person wouldn't be working for me. But the next person I spoke to was very accommodating. The next day I had someone at my home. He was very pleasant. The unit worked for about 40 minutes after he left then they had to come back 'cause it was the blower that got stuck. They fixed it and I have not had any problems since.

We recently had a claim for a clog and that was taken care of. The technician told me that American Home Shield approved to have a toilet put in the downstairs guest bathroom. They called and asked me whether or not I wanted to go with a regular round toilet or to upgrade it. I told them I didn't want to upgrade. We don't live in the places where most of the things that American Home Shield is taking care of are. The benefit of having the home warranty is we don't have to go out and search for vendors. I'm pleased with their service. The only thing is having the tenant make appointments or keep appointments to get service taken care of.

Flash Garage Door Service gave us a window of 3 o'clock to 7 o'clock and the tech didn't show up till a little bit after 7:00. But he was very apologetic and they did let us know he was going to be running a little behind. The communication, overall, was pretty good. Also, he had the parts he needed so he was able to get it all taken care of right then.

Most of the time, the service of AHS has been great. I had one issue though. I had a company come to check my ducts up in the attic. He told me that my fan looked like it was going to go out. He said, the minute I see water, turn it off. So, I called AHS. I said, “Can I get a new fan up there?” They said, “Only when it goes out.” If it goes out and I'm not here, it could cause tons of damage. Sometimes, they ought to take the service man's report and make a judgment on that to save money. But that was the only thing that I thought was wrong. Otherwise, I've had good service. I also love the young man who put in the garbage disposal a couple of weeks ago.

The refrigerator was not making ice. It also was not cooling the freezer, and this had been going on for over a week. Once I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, the technicians came out really quickly. I've been very happy I switched over to AHS. I've been a homeowner for years and I had another company and just switched over to AHS after I've seen information on them on TV. The service was phenomenal, seamless, and everything worked great. I actually sent information out to some of my friends and some of my clients and said, “I don't know who you had, but American Home Shield is the lick.”

I was very disappointed with the warranty. I had some problems in the early part of the summer with our air conditioning units. American Home Shield used the Greenway Home Service, which I had some trouble with before when I was in another house, but I let them come out. They serviced one unit and the man said it was working pretty good but it needed Freon and a filter. He changed that and I paid for it, which was 500 and some dollars.
As for the other unit, he said it had needed repairing. He told me to cut it off and said it needed an e-coil. He said they will have to take all the refrigerant out and replace that, plus the e-coil. He said the e-coil was covered by warranty, but the refrigerants weren’t and I needed about five pounds, so I was looking at $800. Also, he told me that I should be able to get it repaired with my part to pay, between $900 and maybe $1,500. He just told me, off the top of his head, that it would be $2,300. He had not even written down to show me all the math and the justification for the 2,300. I said I was not going to pay 2,300 to repair the unit. I just suffered all summer and stayed downstairs. The unit upstairs is still not working. I didn’t particularly like that. I talked with a representative from AHS and she told me that they would email me and tell me what Greenway had decided. But I never heard a thing from them and I was tempted to drop them.
But the experience with a recent claim has been good. The serviceman came out and said the motor was going bad in the refrigerator. The freezer won’t stay freezing but it was at a very low temperature and the icemaker wasn't working. AHS decided to replace the refrigerator and Sears is scheduled to come out on the 14th to give me the replacement refrigerator.

When we first bought the house, the air conditioning quit working immediately. American Home Shield sent somebody out and the techs fixed it. Recently, I had an old pipe that was leaking. The plumber fixed it really quickly. Compare how much AHS costs a month and per service call to what it would cost you to call a repairman.

The microwave handle broke off and the contractor couldn't replace it. They replaced the entire microwave. It came in a week. The contractor did a good job. American Home Shield always responds quickly when we want them to.

I love American Home Shield. I liked their month-to-month deal. I've heard good things about it, so it’s worth a trial and I’ll see what happens. For the first few months, we didn't have anything. Then we had a claim and it was just boom and it was fixed. I had two claims so far. My water heater started leaking and the claims process was perfect. I do interim healthcare leadership. So, I'm in a hospital in Alabama. So, being able to get on the website and click, “I have a problem,” and within hours to get someone responding back and say, “What time would you like for me to come out to fix your problem,” is wonderful. I’ve been incredibly pleased. I would recommend AHS to anyone. I've had two other home warranties since I've lived in this house and neither one of them lived up to at least half of the benefits of AHS. AHS has been more than perfect.

I had a recent claim with AHS for my air conditioning. I have two units. The other unit got damaged and I had to pay the whole fix the previous time. This one was the exact same thing. The Freon was low but it just needed a little tune-up. With my first service, the experience was terrible. The customer service calls were routed to the Philippines and it went from not getting fixed on a Friday that they were supposed to come, until Tuesday. By Tuesday, when they were supposed to send somebody, I had already fixed it on Monday night because I'm disabled and I could not be without air for that long. After that one, I was very reluctant to do a claim because I didn't know if it was gonna help. But this one was absolutely the contrary. Excellent. The people that came the very next day, were very professional. They had to come back for a second time because it did not get fixed the first time. It's working fantastic now.

The old pipe was leaking and Walston Mechanical, the contractor came out. The repair guys went under there and replaced the old pipe that was rotten. They took a picture of the new pipe and showed it to me. I had one problem with the claims process with American Home Shield because the air conditioner quit working and the AC guy came out. He said it was an electrical issue because water got inside the electrical box outside the house and the power goes to the unit. So, the claim had to be resubmitted as an electrical issue. But AHS handled everything. It was not their fault what happened with that air conditioner at the time because I called them and said that the AC wouldn't work, and they sent an AC person out.

American Home Shield should stay in better contact. I had three appliance service requests and I had two different contractors. After one contractor came up and turned in his order, it was a good while before I heard back when anybody was going to come. Somebody came then American Home Shield had to find a contractor who could deal with copper lines. It took them a while to do that, but they didn't stay in touch and say they were working on it. Other than that, the recent contractor, James Appliance, came in, installed my dishwasher that had already been delivered and did a good job.

The plumbing was clogged up on the tubs, the sink, and where the dryer and the washer is. I called AHS and they don't have the brightest people there. When I was trying to talk to the guy, I had to repeat my issue about 10 times. I just told him to send the plumber out here and I'd tell him myself. Then, the tech texted me that he was coming out and it took forever for him to come out. I had to call and ask again. But once I got ahold of them, it wasn't that bad. I'm glad it wasn't an emergency and the water went down slow, but eventually went down. However, if I had a broken pipe, I would have been screwed. Other than that, the tech was great. He poured some stuff down in there, unclogged things, and so far, everything is pretty good.
But, I don't like the way the warranty really works. I thought they'd take care of whatever had to be done and evidently, they don't pay for it all. I've got insurance and I expect them to pay for the works needed on my house. When we bought this house, one side of it had to be leveled and something had to be put underneath it. When the techs came out and did that, the inspector guy said that they didn't have to do the other side of the house. But they should have done the other side, too, because now my floor and walls are cracking and I don't know if the insurance will cover that or not.

The tech came to fix several things. The pressure of water in my shower was too much and he said it was normal and cannot be fixed. Another issue was the water in my shower was not draining, and he fixed it. The sink was not giving hot water. He spent time on that and he fixed it. Also, one of the sinks was leaking water. He tightened some screws and he said it was fixed. Although after that, it leaked once more. We tightened that screw again and it stopped leaking. In my backyard, water was not working and he told me that he called American Home Shield. But he told me that it’s not covered because it’s in the yard. So he did not help me with that. But everything that he fixed is working okay.

I’m not that satisfied with American Home Shield’s service. The biggest thing is when we got the coverage, we spent 500 bucks, and then it jumped right up to $800 the next year. Then you got to enroll into a different program. Once you get that program, you have two or three things that give out on you that week, which is frustrating in itself. They'll call you in 24 to 48 hours. I had three times where nobody's called me. They just showed up, or they have to schedule it on a day that's not going to work most of the time. You pay $100 every time someone does show up unannounced or if they're even able to. So, you end up canceling the past two deals that you paid for because nobody’s showing up. Then I go out and buy new appliances. I get charged for the ones that I cancelled. I had a dishwasher that was broken, got fixed allegedly, and then it’s still broke.
I've been waiting three weeks for a reimbursement for my dishwasher, and nobody's called me back today like they said they would. I am a new homeowner and all of my other friends told me to keep AHS because if something goes out, it's worth it. I'm paying $600 and some a year for it and paying $100 every time something gets broke. But when you need that thing that's broke to be fixed, you have to wait multiple days, take time off of work for them not to show up till 5 o'clock when I could have just gone to work, got paid that day, and then come home for them to come. They might not show up that day, too. It's wild.

We've been calling American Home Shield, and overall, they're doing good. We call them every few months over some problem or the other. Sometimes, they're able to fix the problem right away, sometimes they're not, and sometimes, we call them again and again to fix a problem. They need to pick some good contractors. Sometimes, the contractor they use is not able to do the job, and they come back again and again. On my recent claim, we've called the home warranty company five times and people come and go, but nobody has been able to fix our unit. American Home Shield should replace the whole unit, but they're not doing it right now.

The hot water tap to the washing machine was spraying all over the basement. I sent in a claim and the contractor did a good job. The claims process was easier than I anticipated. American Home Shield did a really good job. I was surprised they sent the contractor out so quickly.

When GE came out to do a repair on our GE double oven, they put it back in but there was a part at the bottom that they didn't put in. They told my husband that it was originally put in incorrectly and that they couldn’t put it back in. But when I turned my oven on, there was so much heat coming out. It must have been 24 inches long and then the heat would just come out when I was cooking. In the wintertime, it was fine because it helped to keep the kitchen warm. But in the summer, it was horrible. It was overworking the air conditioner. It was almost like I didn't have the air conditioner on.
When we called American Home Shield, we explained it to them and they sent out Appliance Protection. The gentleman that came out was able to put the part back on. I have no idea why GE couldn't put it on because that's their product. My husband said the man from Appliance Protection didn't pull the oven out. He knew what to do. I'm still getting heat. The heat is supposed to come out of that part, but at least it's blocked. It's not blowing out like it was before. So he was able to correct the problem. My husband also said that he explained things and that everything was pretty nice and courteous.

Our AC unit was leaking and there was water all over. A tech could have come out the same day we made the claim but I was busy, so I had someone come out the next day. The tech was fantastic and my husband loved him. Everything is working perfectly now. Having a home warranty, I don't have to worry about anything. I just call American Home Shield.

The people that have come have been excellent. But we had a situation where an issue wasn't resolved right away. When my husband had a major surgery, it took longer for a bathroom to be fixed. Luckily, we have a second toilet. American Home Shield has a service that you can call to expedite a claim but our claim wasn't expedited. So American Home Shield could get faster service.
American Home Shield raised their price. In years past, it wasn't as expensive as what it seems to be now. If we don't use the service monthly, the price seems to be a little bit high. But I liked the people they've had coming in now. They're very efficient, helpful and friendly. Some people we've had in the past have not been that good. We've had Lakeshore Plumbing come and help us recently, and they do a really good job. I appreciate having a home warranty. My husband and I are seniors, so it's very beneficial for us to have a home warranty.

I had spoken with an AHS representative and she told me that the water system outside, the sprinkler, was covered. So they deployed an electrician to come out. I paid the $100 fee. I later got a call from the electrician saying that they were denying it, saying that it was not covered. I downright told the rep exactly what it was and she said it was definitely covered. She may not have known that it wasn't, because she thought it was anything electrical. I guess the sprinkler system unit didn't count as part of the household appliance. AHS needs to update their information with their employees.
I also still have not seen a reimbursement. I called about it because it hadn't shown up yet. The rep said, " It will show up. Just give it more time.” We had another issue with our refrigerator. The guy came right out and assessed what the problem was, and ordered the parts. It got approved. He came back out and fixed it. No longer a leak on the floor. So, we were happy with that service.

Overall, I'm really happy with American Home Shield. It's really worked out for me. However, it's been horrible when we made a claim for a refrigerator icemaker. The repair people called on one day, said they'd be here at a certain time, called later that day, and said they'd be here the next day. The next day came by and they never called us. We got upset so we cancelled that. We rescheduled it again, this time with AME. The AME technician is perfect. He installed a part. The part broke which is not his fault but when I called him the next day, he never replied to any messages that we gave them. This has been going on at least a month. We just got an email saying that we're getting the part and another email with the confirmation of the appointment. Next Tuesday, it should be fixed.

The oven heating element had exploded in our oven and American Home Shield had Stuckwisch Appliances come out. The guy said the stove is really old and that they were not gonna be able to replace the panel, which needed to be replaced. American Home Shield decided that they were gonna give us some money to go buy a new stove. We went and bought a new stove. We were happy with the result. I tell my friends about AHS and how it's one of the greatest investments they could probably get themselves involved in because AHS covers stuff. Only pay a certain amount a month and it's worth it. A lot of times, you just don't have that money laying around.

The Home Shield agents are always very nice and helpful. One time, I had a leak in the shower and it was coming through the dining room ceiling. I called the toll-free number and spoke to an agent. I was given the contractor's name and when they would contact me. When the agent said who it was gonna be, I was like, “Yay.” They've serviced my home a few years ago as well, so I was already familiar with them. After the Home Shield people sent the claim to the contractor, they called me that afternoon to go ahead and set up the appointment for that week. Some of the seal had come undone around the drain as it goes in the shower, so the plumber had to reseal that. He ran the water, poured buckets down there and checked the ceiling to make sure that it wasn't leaking anymore and that everything was good to go. This contractor is wonderful. From the receptionist to the plumber, they've always been very nice, thorough, honest, and timely.

My washing machine quit working. The Sears guy was here the day after the next day. It wasn't very long. He was as nice and polite as he could be, and he had the part that we needed on his van. The machine is old and it still makes a lot of noise, but it's working fine now.

I was having trouble flushing our commodes. We would flush, the water wouldn't go all the way down. We would have to hold the handle down. It was driving me crazy. The tech explained everything to me and was very courteous. He did a good job. Everything’s working well. I recommend having a home warranty no matter what the age of your home. It’s so expensive to get anything repaired these days.

American Home Shield is quick to respond and they have a network of service providers, which have been good so far. We've only had a couple of calls to them, but they've all been helpful and met or exceeded expectations. Their price point for the insurance was okay and what they covered was reasonable for that price. I request service online now. American Home Shield's phone lines get busy, so you have to wait, which is fine. But it was much easier and more straightforward to do the request online.
I really liked Sevier Climate Control. They responded in a timely fashion, especially considering it's Texas and it was in the middle of summer. They came out and I told them what I saw. They tested the unit and they said that they were going to replace our start capacitor. They have the part in their truck and they got the unit running very quickly.

I called American Home Shield on the phone, and they set my claim up. The plumbing company in South Carolina was calling me before I finished putting the claim in. The young man who came did what he had to do cleaning the line out, gave me a good recommendation, and he said to get back with him within three weeks if I have any more problems. AHS was very professional and prompt, and I appreciated that because I had a plumbing emergency.

My air conditioning was not working and after I called American Home Shield, the contractor called me. The next available schedule that they had that worked with mine was two days. The tech was on time and very professional. He said that the AC upstairs wasn't working because it was doing so much work because of the one downstairs. He had to put a part in the AC downstairs but there was no issue with the one upstairs. So, everything seemed to be working okay. The claims process with AHS was great and I have not had any issues.

I've had to use American Home Shield for my dryer and my refrigerator as well as my air conditioner, which is the most important thing is I used them for. We live in the desert and it gets to 120 degrees. I was able to call and have somebody out and the AC was repaired quickly. They were professional about it and kept me informed at all time. It would have been a huge bill had it not been for AHS. Sometimes though, you can’t get service on weekends. If something breaks down on a Thursday, you'll have to wait till the following week to get anything scheduled and if it's something big, it's bad. Still, I refer them all the time. I tell people to get it and that they can put it on automatic payment. They don’t even have to think about it but when they need it, it’s there.

We've had American Home Shield for the last five years and their claim process has been simple. Their online portal is seamless and you don't even have to really talk to anyone until there's a technician assigned. It's easy to use and it's self-explanatory. We recently had an issue where we had to replace a washer and AHS gave us a fair value for the machine and a good discount. It was buying a replacement through them. We also used them when our AC unit wasn't blowing cold air. The service people gave me a current status report on the unit's lifecycle and even provided estimates for replacement. Everything we experienced with AHS has been above what we experienced with our previous home warranty. Our home warranty now is leaps and bounds above in service, timeliness, and quality of technicians.

Fast Response fixed my air conditioning. I called American Home Shield and they gave me a number and told me to call Fast Response. They came out, assessed it and fixed the AC. Something was out on the unit and it needed to be fixed. They had to put in some Freon. They were great. American Home Shield has been pretty good for me. There were times that I've had trouble with them like my refrigerator is still not making ice and not working properly. We tried to get that fixed, and I ran into all sorts of trouble and got yelled at the last time because they said it was over a year since we did the claim. But we started the claim in September, they ordered parts, and due to COVID, that lasted like all the way into the next year. They fixed it, though, and got it to work, but then the ice thing never worked. I called back and got the ice thing fixed, and they were telling me I didn't do anything. I had to file a new claim to do it.
I got like 20 parts of this damn fridge over five months. Then, they had trouble coming in and out fixing it. One time, it was a big fridge, and they had to have two people. One person came out. We had to wait weeks for the two people to come out, and then we had to wait weeks for parts. It was a long ordeal. I tried a few months ago to call and the lady told me I was wrong and lying because I was like, "Well, they didn't repair it until sometime this year." My ice machine still doesn't work.

The gas range was constantly popping when it was plugged. I filed a claim and they worked with my schedule. Sears came out and it didn't take them long to fix it. The tech showed up on time and did everything he needed to do. Everything was done timely and I was satisfied. If you have appliances that are getting a little bit of age on them, that's an expense that you really can't afford to have when they break down or when you have to replace them, I would suggest AHS for that reason. They rate high on everything.

We've had two different claims. On one claim, the repair people were able to come out in a couple of days and they fixed our icemaker, dryer and a light in our fridge. With the other claim, it took six days for people to come out here for our hot water heater then when they came, they didn't change the part. They just temporarily fixed it. We've had issues with our hot water for a little over a week now, but they're coming back today at some point to change the part.

My experience with AHS has been really good. Everything moves along pretty swiftly. The call time after you initially make the request and put the request in is really fast. I'm very impressed. I love the service. Bestway fixed the garbage disposal recently. The guy came when he said he would come. He fixed it. He showed me what the problem was and what was stuck inside the disposal. He was very professional.

The contractor came out for the washing machine and I told them that I was willing to pay for the part. I just wanted the washing machine fixed. But they didn't wanna even tell me what the part had cost. I didn't appreciate that. I searched American Home Shield and the contractor, and I noticed that a lot of people had the same complaint. They all said that this serviceman told them that the machine was overloaded. It was word for word of what they told me. I was about to call the Better Business Bureau to let them know.
The contractor wouldn't come back out. I've contacted American Home Shield, and they told me that they were gonna call me. But they never called me. I waited for four days and then I called them back. But they were not going to do anything about it. They asked me why don't I just call the contractor. I told them that I'm paying them for service every month and even though I may not use them, I'm still paying them. I've been paying them for a long time and I expect them to service me sometime in taking care of the claim or whoever they're going to send out to me. If I have a complaint, I expect American Home Shield to take care of it because they recommend the contractor to me. I'm really fed up with American Home Shield. I would never recommend them to anyone. They don't return calls. They don't do what they say they were gonna do.

I liked the service that American Home Shield offered, compared to the other ones. The contractors usually come out right away. I just had to wait a day or two. And the contractors call me the next day after I made the claim. The first claim was the AC went out. Then last month, I had some electrical issues where the lights flickered, and I lost power to my living room and bathroom. The guys came out and fixed it.

I was kind of frustrated with American Home Shield because I got deals after my signup for cheaper rates. Also, I asked them, “Hey, look, is there any extenuating circumstance? I'm in healthcare, I work on COVID. These are all the other things that I have access to that may entitle me for a discount.” They said, “Nope, this is the best rate you can get.” And then I ended up getting an email the next day after I paid for the warranty saying "Sign up now for blah, blah, blah". So I was like, "Are you serious?" It would be nice if they gave me some sort of credit or discount given the fact that I had that annoying experience.
But as far as the actual product and paying $75 a pop per incident, my one experience so far has been fantastic. I'm happy with how well it was resolved. I had a couple of issues with my plumbing. My water bill skyrocketed due to a leaky toilet. Also, the Erator in the sink was not flowing right. My experience with Brick Street, AHS's contractor was pretty decent. Their availability was a little poor and they were pretty booked far out. I called them and they managed to make an arrangement for me so that was okay in the end. I was so happy with the plumber's service that I wrote an email to both American Home Shield and to Brick Street on how good of a job the plumber did.
Do your research on the home mortgage warranty programs that exist because American Home Shield is one of the thousands out there. Check the coverage and what you want as far as roof coverage, AC repair and all the things that can go wrong with a home. But overall, my experience has been great minus that sort of signup issue.

I called American Home Shield to get someone to come out to fix a problem. They started the process and after that, it was pretty much up to the contractor. The contractor was great. It took a little longer for one of the parts to come in, but that may have been out of their control.

I had a water leak coming from the AC. I put a claim in online and the contractor that AHS assigned had been here before. They were always professional. When they came out this time, they cleaned out the air trap. The water was clogged up up there, where the water drains the pan. I had to call them back out because it was still leaking. But the AC is good right now.

The contractor had to come back and work on the lighting. The tech who came out was very personable and knowledgeable. He knew exactly what was wrong with the thing but they didn't have the part. It was on a Friday when he came and he was back by Monday with the new part. I don't like AHS's website though because when I have an issue and if I have to sign up for two things under the same column, I have to call because the system doesn't let me put two in. I was having an issue with my garage door that wasn't opening and that fell under electrical. I was also having a problem with the lighting. The website says if you'd have another issue that falls under that same subcategory, that it’s considered one claim. But it only allows you to put one issue in. Other than that, I'd recommend American Home Shield. The folks that have come out to our home to work on our issues have been very positive and respectful companies.

There was no air coming out of my air conditioning and I went online and alerted American Home Shield. I picked out what was wrong in my house and put the claim in. They called me and sent an email telling me who they were gonna use. United Air Temp called me and we set up a time. AHS doesn’t tell you what they cover though, which is a big part about it because I had a coil put in today and I spent $1,800 to get that put in. So, I'm getting rid of AHS. They only covered the coil so I paid out of pocket on the ductwork that they did and the Freon. People shouldn’t use AHS.

When I turned on my washer, it backed up into the sink. So, my drains were clogged. I went online to do the claim. For some reason, the way that I entered the claim said that it was an issue with the washing machine, and it wasn't the washing machine. It was an issue with the plumbing. So, then I called American Home Shield minutes after I realized that I had entered the wrong type of service request. I spoke to a customer service agent who was able to assist me in getting the right type of serviceperson to come out.
I've had other plumbing companies come out. On my account, there should be a note to never send Bear Plumbing to my home. Accent Plumbing, in comparison to Bear Plumbing, is 1,000% better. But even if I hadn't had that horrible experience with Bear Plumbing, I would still rate Accent as excellent. The serviceperson that came out was excellent. It was hard for me to explain the issue. He was like, "Okay. Why don't you show me what happened?" I ran the washer so that he could see the sink backing up.
The issues that I've had are not with American Home Shield. I've had issues with their contractors. American Home Shield has worked for me which is why I've had their service for like over 10 years. When I do have problems with contractors, I'm able to call them and get a resolution, which helps. Having AHS definitely provides me with a peace of mind. I know that if I have any type of issue, I have someone that I can call to help me get it resolved.

The tech provided good service and replaced and fixed doorbells that had gone bad. My past claims have been good and I pretty much know the companies that are coming at this point. AHS protects my home and my pocket.

They're good at sending someone right away and they're very good at processing claims, but there's always a lot of limitations. When it comes to AC units, they only cover the basics and it's really hard for me to get to pay out of pocket. The coverage should be a little bit better. I used to have another company before, Choice Warranty, and with them, I had no problems with coverage. So, I might have to switch companies with what is going on right now. I'm dealing with an issue with the AC unit and the repairs that need to be done, apparently, are not covered, which I was not aware of. So, I'm gonna have to pay out of pocket. But in the past, I have used AHS and it's been good.

The AC was spewing out water if we turned it on. We submitted the claim to American Home Shield on a Saturday and the contractor came out that Monday. But it wasn't fixed that Monday so, they had to come back the next day. The guy put in a new pump and it’s working now. It's not good though that I’m paying $100 for somebody that does not live in my city or my country for the home warranty to make a phone call to a company that I can call that lives around the corner or works around the corner for me. Then, we have to end up paying that company hundreds of dollars anyway. One day, I called the home warranty and I asked if I have to call or can I call the company myself and then go through my warranty. I was told no.
At the beginning of summer, we were having AC issues and the guy said that it needed X amount of pounds of whatever it needs to run. So, he told me the warranty would only cover $10 per pound. We paid almost $400 for the Freon to go in there plus the $100 for the warranty company to call them to come and do it. I could have kept that 100 and put it towards whatever we had to pay out of pocket. I wish that there was transparency and that AHS would be super honest with what they cover and what they don't cover.

This is the worst insurance you could have. SCAMMER. I paid 1200$ for the whole year. Every time I called for anything, they refuse, they don't send a contractor, they keep saying, "We are not responsible on this, and this, and this and this." When I choose to cancel, they hold you as a hostage, they refuse to pay me back what I pay for the whole year. The lady is rude. Lie to you in your face. I will never ever use or recommended them. I've had a good experience with AHS's claims process. My air conditioning wasn't working and it needed a new part. The claim took several weeks because the contractor couldn't get the part. They put a new one in and the unit worked when the tech was here.

The inside blower of my AC was working. However, it was tripping because the condenser pump wasn't draining properly. Also, the outside turbine was not blowing. We did the claim on a Sunday and the techs were out by Monday. They thought they fixed the problem but then I had to contact American Home Shield because the problem happened again. The techs were out within the next day and put a new condenser pump in. The home warranty is worth it. It has paid off when I need it.

I didn't want things in the house to kind of get messed up because it was gonna be like 100 degrees out there. So, I set up my AC around 78. We went on a short vacation. When we came back, we tried to lower it down to get a cooler temperature, but then I realized that it was not cooling down. Inside of the house was like 84. I started searching online to see what was going on. I replaced the filter and did this and that, but it didn't work. Somebody was sent by American Home Shield, and now, the AC is working fine.
The only thing is I figured out that the person that we purchased the contract from just wanted to sell the contract and get away. I purchased the warranty just because I wanted to have peace of mind and he was talking with me about all these offers. I didn't know a lot about American Home Shield, and he started giving me all these packages and I told him, "I'll take the premium. What does it cover?” He was like, “All appliances in the house are covered.” I was like, “I have an additional freezer. Is that covered?” He said it’s covered. I started naming things that I have. These are additions and not everybody do have them, and not all insurance cover them. He was like, “No, no, don’t worry. All electronics are covered, even plumbing, roofing,” and he started naming things. I said, “Okay, I’ll take it.”
When my freezer was not cooling down pretty good, I tried to work on it myself, it didn’t work out. So, I called AHS. They told me that the freezer is not covered. They said, “Oh, you should have purchased an addition to add it on the service.” I was like, “That was not my intention when I first called you guys.” So, I'm not too upset, but I am upset because the guy was really a friendly talker. The representatives are not as detailed as they should be. They should be more specific. I recommend every customer that’s going to purchase AHS to go through the details.

We were setting the thermostat to a certain degree and it was not getting cool enough in the house so we filed a claim. I received the name of the contractor and their telephone number. Within 15 minutes, a rep called me and I didn't expect a phone call late at night like that. He called following up on the claim. It was very prompt. Jon K Shaffer came out and he was able to inspect everything. He replaced a part that I didn't even realize I needed and he explained to me what it was. It was all covered through our warranty. Then, he left his information in case I needed to do a follow-up or have it serviced on a regular basis.
I would recommend AHS. The only negative feedback is I've had it for a couple of years now and it seems like the rate goes up every year. It would be nice to kind of get into a rate where we would have that rate based on our relationship with them, that they could lock us in and it wouldn't keep going up every year. Other than that, as far as the claim is concerned, it was very simple and it was easy to get online and get it done.

The condenser tubes on the AC were blocked. It was leaking water and soaking the carpet downstairs. The young man came in and took care of it. He cleared things up and stopped the leak. It took about an hour but he did good because he got it fixed. We signed up with American Home Shield around June 3 and the warranty was effective 30 days later. We’ve had the HVAC guy as well as a plumber. My nephew recommended American Home Shield. They've had it for years and they said it's great. It's worth the money and takes care of things. AHS covers appliances, heating and air conditioning and plumbing at a reasonable price. With individual units that you buy, like appliances, they might have a one-year warranty. So, AHS is the way to go.

The AC was turning on but then it made a horrible sound like something was knocking in there. The technician came the next day or two which was quick. He repaired it and we were pleased.

The technician addressed the problem and it didn't take him very long because he knew exactly what the problem was. He explained it to me so if it ever happened again, I can take care of it. On older homes like this, all kinds of different little things happen. Thank goodness, we do have AHS. It covers about everything, so it's really helped us out.

American Home Shield sent ADA for my washer and dryer. The guy said the dryer was working. So, I said it was not working. He said when he'll come back for the washing machine, he'll fix it if it's still not working. So, I called the company, ADA , and told the lady what happened. She said, "Oh, I gotta wait for him to get back at the end of the day, then I'll call you back." I never heard back from her. I called American Home Shield and they told me that ADA told them my dryer wasn't working because it was clogged with lint. The guy never even looked to see if it was clogged, though. Once they said that, I checked and there was nothing. I told American Home Shield, “I need you guys to send me out another company.” The first time I talked to them, they didn’t but when I called back the next day, I finally got them to send someone else out, and the guy came the next day.
ADA took a week to come to my house. The ADA guy showed up in a Honda Accord in street clothes. You wouldn't even know he worked for the company. There was no work company truck and he didn't have any parts. The guy from the new company called me. He came the same day. When he called me, he asked me what was wrong. I told him what was wrong with the dryer, and he told me over the phone what was wrong with it. Sure enough, that was it. He came out and changed the coils. Just by me telling him what was wrong with it, he could tell me over the phone. The end results turned out good.

The first claim we had was a nightmare. They said they couldn't find any company. I called them and they said they don't have any information about me and gave me a phone number to call. It's the number on the payment system. I called them and they transferred me to three different people before somebody was willing to dig around and find my information. Customer service sucks. I was ready to pull everything from them, but finally, somebody helped me out. The second time I had a claim, I did it through the automated system and I was surprised that they took the claim and somebody came out. I was happy about it. Also, the electric people they sent out promised they would contact us right away. They came back the next morning and they fixed the issue, which was awesome.

The refrigerator was not cooling. After I submitted that claim, the tech got out there in four days. He came in, went straight to the job. Diagnosed, told me what was going on and what he would do, and that's what he did. He was very professional. I got a brand-new Whirlpool.

OKC Appliance King was fantastic. They fixed the dishwasher and got it working. They put a new motor in it and a new sealer under the door. It was very good. AHS has been good as well. We have it in Denver, too. Over in Denver, we're very pleased with them. But I like the contractors here in Oklahoma better. Contractors here have been very friendly and easier to work with. I recommend AHS to all my friends.

American Home Shield works on different things in your home and the price is very reasonable. They'll explain to you all the different things if you call them. The representatives are very helpful and pleasant. If they say they're going to call you back, they always do. A lot of places don't do that. The contractors are also certified and trained.

Our AC unit was blowing out hot air. A tech came in and changed a part. Four hours later, the unit started malfunctioning again and the contractor sent somebody right over. It was a different part that needed to be fixed. The tech showed me that it was sparking and that was why the unit would turn off. The contractor did really well because it was on a Sunday when their tech came in. On the whole, it was very simple to get through American Home Shield's claim process. They did great. There is only one thing. This home has solar panels and they won't cover the roof if there's anything additional on top of that. I wish they would cover stuff like that. That would be amazing.

The AC would come on and stay on for just a little while, and then it would turn off for no reason. We couldn't find a pattern. But most of the time, it was not coming on. We called this in to American Home Shield over the weekend. Then, the company called me on a Sunday and said they could come Monday, but I had a prior commitment already. They were able to come Tuesday morning. The tech was very knowledgeable. He dove in and started trying to figure out what could have stopped the AC. He tried one thing after another, kept going and finally got around and found a fuse. He said, “This thing has gotten me before. It escaped me for a little while. But then, I thought about it and tried it, replaced that fuse, and everything worked fine.” That would have been a high-dollar ticket right there. So, the warranty was worth it there.

The coverage is good and the claims process is very simple, but it depends on so many layers. Some items are not related and I have to choose different categories. I noticed those types of items are the ones which break very often, like faucets, microwaves and dishwashers. Also, if you wanna talk to somebody in customer service, it's very hard to get ahold of them, but once the online request is done, they dispatch the people. American Home Shield should also have better communication and choose their contractors properly. Depending on the contractor, sometimes they don't show up, but after a couple of claims, everything is fine. The task is completed and all issues are resolved.

My recent plumbing claim went wonderful. The contractor called, made an appointment for the next day, came out, did the repair, and everything's working great. However, back in May, we had a septic tank issue, and it took another contractor forever to get it fixed. At first, they came out and pumped it. Then they said they had to order a pump for it. They ordered the pump for it, but they said it wasn't getting electricity out there and they needed an electrician. I had an electrician come out twice and both times, they said there was electricity out there at the box. Finally, it got completed at the end of June. Other than that, I've gotten good service on everything else.

I had four water spots appearing on my carpet. American Home Shield's automated system was so hideous that they sent a plumber out. He was not the appropriate person for the problem. He promised to make a further referral to some other provider under American Home Shield. But I have not heard from anyone else. It has been about two weeks.

The AC wasn't running and we were about to move in the following day. The house was a cool 95 degrees but we wanted to get someone out there immediately. The AC didn't meet the degree requirement though. It had to be a certain degree outside for it to be considered an emergency. So, we had to wait till the following day. It was frustrating at first but it ended up being fine. There was an issue with the fan on the air conditioning unit and the contractor fixed it relatively quickly. We haven't experienced any issues since.
The issue happened on a Sunday and if it was something more serious or if we were living in the home at that time, it probably would have been frustrating to have to wait till traditional business hours. I can only imagine if it had happened on a Saturday morning, going through the whole weekend. So, American Home Shield should have a line that has a little bit more urgency to get an issue resolved if it is an emergency because I don't know who I would contact if it was something that was dire. I’m not sure how many times AHS is gonna put a Band-Aid on something before they replace an old unit if my AC continues to go out. That’s a vague area. So, maybe there should be guidelines on what would entail getting something replaced completely.

I've had good and bad experiences with American Home Shield. I have claim for my faucet and I'm still waiting five weeks to get that fixed. Technicians have been out once and they're supposed to evaluate what's going on. I have to call for the fifth time and find out why there is still a leaking closet in my house. I had a claim for my pool too and technicians came out the next day and fixed that. American Home Shield should work on problem resolution and communication. Other than that, it's great when the service works. It's economical and it's generally timely.

The AC unit kept overflowing, which triggered it to cut off so the house wouldn't cool. It took the contractor a few times to come out to get it right. But they finally fixed it. We're very satisfied with American Home Shield, which is why we went back to them. They make it easy to submit online requests.
