My pool pump was dead so the contractor came in and changed it. I thought that they were going to change it to a new one but they said it was a refurbished one. But it's okay. I have my pool back again, and they did a great job. When I called in this claim, they followed up the next day. The timeframe was fast enough. But everything was fine. I was very satisfied. The only thing is the wait when you try to tell AHS exactly what's going on and the waiting to make that appointment for someone to check the appliance. But after that, it's great. AHS did what they're supposed to do. I was just hoping that they don't give us refurbished appliance because it might break again before a year.

We pulled the refrigerator away from the wall and it pulled the waterline to the fridge, which started leaking all over. I needed somebody fast because I had a big leak and I couldn't use my fridge. I called American Home Shield who has always been there for me. They had somebody calling and talking about appointments. I told them I had the water turned off so I had no water to my kitchen. Technicians couldn't come that day, which is understandable, so they scheduled to come the next day. A guy came out and he saw that it was a copper line, which doesn't make for a very flexible system. He clipped off the copper and put on some good clear plastic. He did that fast and was very efficient and professional. I love him.
The only time we've had a problem with American Home Shield was a year ago when we were getting an electrician. Sometimes they don't have as many companies to cover. But that's the way it is out here. Sometimes in the more rural areas, people don't trust a company like that as much because they have to pay American Home Shield to have them listed. But I've noticed that American Home Shield is more popular than they had been and they have a better coverage ratio. If they had somebody that could sell the home warranty to the service companies a little bit more, maybe they would have better coverage. Overall, I'm happy as a clam with them.

My claim with Americna Home Shield went through perfectly. They contracted a company, Cal-Home Construction, and they said that they would notify me within 24 hours from the time that the request was set up. At the time that I set up the claim, they gave me numbers I could call to reach out to. I used that to call Cal-Home Construction to schedule the service. They already had me in the system and they were to come out the following day. They said that they had called before. It must have been some miscommunication with my phone. The tech that came did an awesome job. He fixed the problem and I paid for the service.
From the period I started with American Home Shield until now, I've noticed that they have evolved as far as setting up appointments. It’s a lot more user-friendly and you have a lot more options. The times are changing as far as communication and things. They’re really on top of it and don't have the customer waiting for a contractor to come out or not being able to get in touch with them or the contractor. They’re really good about that. Also, I've never had a contractor come out and make a mess of any sort and walk away not having cleaned it. The only thing is I hate the fact that American Home Shield goes up every year.
Taking care of our members is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done.
We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The tech that AHS sent for our claim took the dryer apart and he showed me what was wrong with it. I also asked him if he needed to replace the belt, he said no. He was very nice. He didn't have the part and he went and got the part. He came back later and put it on.

My washer was making a lot of noise so I called American Home Shield and they referred Wilk's Appliance Repair. The guy came and took the front of the washer loose and found that something was broken and told me I needed a new washer. We've ordered it through American Home Shield and I'm waiting on a replacement to come now. I talked to GE today looking for the washer. It hasn't been picked up, but it's there. I'm just having a problem with the company coming through New Orleans. It's delayed a little bit due to the hurricane. Nonetheless, Wilk's did a thorough job and I would use them again. Also, having American Home Shield is worth it and I recommend them.

There were two appliances that decided to act up within a day of each other. The first thing that happened was I noticed that the freezer wasn't freezing right. I took everything out, checked the tablet built into the refrigerator and hit the reset settings. After two days, I put the food back in and it seemed to freeze again. But then I noticed the milk was spoiling and my butter was starting to melt. When I moved the milk and other stuff out of the way, I could see that the vents in the back were packed with ice.
I contacted American Home Shield and they had somebody contact me right away. They also came out right away and fixed the refrigerator. They were great. That very morning they came out, the dishwasher decided to flood the kitchen. While they were out, I asked, "Can you guys do this if I contact American Home Shield and request you?” They said sure. The guy even took a look at it. He said, “I can already see. You've got some bad seals here.”
I notified American Home Shield and the only issue I had was they tried sending my order to Sears and Sears never reached out to me. When I called Sears, they said they had no record of the request from American Home Shield. I had to call American Home Shield probably four times saying the dishwasher was still leaking on the floor. I was getting upset because what if the water would start doing damage to the subfloor. Each representative at American Home Shield told me that they were reaching out to Sears and calling them, that they could see it in their system. But Sears could never see it in theirs.
By the second time I called, I requested for the first company that came out. They told me, “We can't move it until we hear back from Sears." But it had been a week or more and they haven't heard back from Sears, and I've called to complain numerous times. I wanted it changed. If a customer is having problems scheduling the appointment with the recommended service provider, there should be steps to where it's easy to cancel to get with a new provider and not drag it out for a week or two. You can wait a week or two if an electrical outlet is out but you can get damage, especially if there's a water issue. If the customer says, “No, I don't want to use Sears. I'm tired of calling them and getting the runaround. I want it changed,” they should be able to change that without saying, “We have to hear back from Sears first.”
It took almost two weeks before I finally got a rep at American Home Shield who was able to cancel the one for Sears and send it over Appliance Repair Specialist who called me right away and came out to double check. Before, the guy just took a quick peek and checked the seal. The second time he came out, he did a very thorough job and checked everything. There was a lot more wrong with the dishwasher that we knew and he ended up fixing everything. He was fantastic.
I've always been a fan of Sears, but not now. They never responded to American Home Shield or to us. But other than that, it was great. Being able to have a serviceperson promptly respond is very important and Appliance Repair Specialist did that so I’m grateful for them. This was the first time we've had to use American Home Shield. My sister, Shelly, has been encouraging me for a long time. But this house isn't that old so I was thinking what could possibly go wrong. She told me about the issue she had with her stove. They've had to use American Home Shield twice in a couple of years and both times, it gave them peace of mind. It's a good value for what you get. She told me, “For 50 bucks a month, wouldn't you rather have that peace of mind?” My husband checked and for the price, American Home Shield didn't look like a bad thing to do. I would recommend American Home Shield to anybody regardless of the age of their house.

I like the convenience of having American Home Shield. I could just call them and they're gonna send somebody out. I don't have to look for anybody to come. Recently, a wet spot was on my ceiling in my living room and that was coming from my bathroom. The plumber came out twice. First, he came in and got a stopper thingy, and then he came back and did something with the toilet. The second time, he called me and let me know what was going on. I wasn't here but somebody else was here to guide him and show him what was what. He did an awesome job. It's just that I've seen the wet spot again. But I'm still trying to see if it gets dried out and see for what he did, it'll clear up. Overall, I recommend American Home Shield to everybody.

American Home Shield's service is fine. But when it comes to certain things, like the cost for the $100 service fee, it could be cheaper. When we had the garage serviced and we found out that it was just a prong that was poked in, that was not $100. It was just a matter of us unplugging the garage system and pulling the prongs out. The service fee should be reevaluated depending on what the service was provided. But the contractors with American Home Shield have been pretty honest as far as what we can see with diagnosing what the problems were.
We recently had a service where we had the contractor come out for the air conditioning. We have a 26-year-old system and since it's an older unit, the Freon that goes in there is not really available, where you have to pay so much more for it because it's not a common Freon anymore. So we had to pay almost $600 to get that. I understand replacing parts is sometimes cheaper. But we get that fixed and then something else goes wrong where we’re out of the $600 that we wasted for Freon that you can't even really buy anymore. American Home Shield should be doing what really makes sense for the end result for the company and the customer.

American Home Shield is doing a good job. I had a little bit of an issue with some of the representatives when I was calling them, but their actual service overall was pretty good. There's a small service fee, but I have the peace of mind that I don’t have to worry about things breaking and me having to fork over or pay a large sum of money to get an item repaired. Plus, the service is quick. The technicians get here quickly. They are knowledgeable and professional on how to get the job done quickly. I had an issue with my plumbing recently and a technician came by and fixed it. I had to coordinate between my homeowners insurance and American Home Shield to get the repair fixed because it was behind a wall. I had to coordinate to remove some of the cabinets where the pipe was behind. But other than that, I had them come before and I haven't had any issues with scheduling since then.

My last two calls with American Home Shield went well. The contractors came and they knew what they were doing. They got in and they got out. They came at the scheduled time that they were supposed to. In the very last thing that I used AHS for, I was able to schedule my appointments using the phone or using the prompt system. That was excellent because I didn't have to wait for long periods of time and it was 24/7. But prior to that, I had some difficulty with one company getting one thing fixed due to a miscommunication. The open windows were vague, between 9:00am and 4:00pm, and then at 5:00 I got a call that the contractor would not be able to make it. You do that a couple of times and I get little aggravated. I would suggest a narrower window for people who work.
I had American Home Shield for years, even with my last home. I had another service and I didn't like their services, so I switched back over to American Home Shield. At the time, it was the same price, which was about $50 a month. It went up about $17 and no one told me that. So, that was a little disturbing. I was considering switching to Cinch, which was about the same price I was paying before, because if you add it up after a year, it was a little bit more.

AHS sent an air conditioning guy for the thermostat but he said that the issue was for an electric person. AHS sent an electric person who said it was for an air conditioning guy. Days went by and AHS finally sent someone that knew what they were doing but it was very aggravating. There were tons of phone calls and they kept saying they would fix it and they didn't know what they were doing. An air conditioning guy came out and fixed the issue finally. It didn't take that much, either, it just took somebody that knew what they were doing. If anyone asks about AHS, I'd tell them to get somebody else and use another service.

There was no air coming out of the second-floor AC unit and the tech found out that it was a malfunction with the damper. It wasn’t opening and closing to allow the air to flow. He did everything great. He got in there and it took him about 5 minutes. I've always had a good experience with American Home Shield, which is why I continue to use it. They're good people to work with. They understand and they seem like they're sympathetic to your needs and concerns.
With this incident, I had a problem with a company that supposedly was issued the work order. I called the company the next day to find out what kind of set up or window, and the voicemail was on saying the voicemail box was full. No one called me that day. I tried throughout the day and the voicemail box continued to be full. I started off with it the next morning and the voicemail was open. I left a message but nobody called me back. I waited about noon and I called them again. The voicemail box went back to full again. I called AHS and told them the situation and that I would like to request somebody else. It wasn’t professional and I didn't feel good with having that particular company. I mentioned a company I had in the past that was good and they looked up the previous company who came, which was Advanced and they reassigned them. They worked with me because of my shift as well as my wife’s so the tech came out on a late Saturday afternoon.

I started making my calls and Beaches Air Conditioning on the second go-around, finally told me to shut it off outside and that they would be here that following week. The techs seemed okay and they were great with the attitudes. But everything is good and my AC is fixed now. It’s working good and I haven’t had any problems since that day. Do not waste your money on this company. Their customer service department is more than terrible. First of all "American Home Shield" only is headquartered in Tenn by paper only. Every time I call, they forward me to another country, of which you can barely understand them. I have been going in circles with them since Jun and this is Sept. My ac doesn't need to be fixed but their contractor, Macks ac. says that I need a bigger unit. This is not true, at the time my home was built this unit was code approved and maybe the code has changed. I just need my directional dampers replaced, they all know it. Any time I ask to speak to a supervisor, they say that there is not one available. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They won't get another contractor to come out to fix my problem as Macks AC has refused to do so.

American Home Shield (AHS) customer service is among the worst I have ever dealt with. I have a serious issue that needs addressing and ALL customer service issues are handled by overseas operators who barely speak English and have NO ability to affect any issue. The AHS website itself has no way to contact customer service. (Their website search engine has "nothing found" when I searched for "customer service"!!!) - A home warranty company is only as good as their contractors and AHS seems unable to pick good ones. The issue I am dealing with right now is a serious A/C issue (17 days now without A/C in TEXAS!) that AHS seems unconcerned with. While we have had good results sometimes, it is literally hit or miss with AHS and customer service for issues that need resolution is non-existent.

I opened an account with AHS thinking that it would help with my home maintain needs, but nothing could be further from the truth. Over the course of a year while being a customer in perfect payment status I requested service on three different occasions and all resulted in me getting the runaround and ultimately having to pay to have the problem fixed myself. I tried to cancel and kept getting the runaround by customer service about calling at a certain time which I think is a ploy to keep you paying for a useless service. They got annoyed when I spoke about canceling the service and I was blind transferred to a non-monitored line.
I called at least 6 times and this happened. In all scenarios when I requested service after learning it would be up to 14 days before someone could come out I called in and tried get an earlier visit as the surrounding infrastructure was being water damaged I was told the service provider couldn’t be changed. Which is also very unreasonable considering if I waited 14 days for someone to come out I would have incurred much more damage from the leak. I feel completely slighted that I trusted AHS and now I’m out of $600 for a year of service I never received. The one star this review is receiving is because I could do it with no stars. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY.

The ac was just blowing air. I had to call in to American Home Shield for it because there was something wrong with my account where I couldn't submit it online. But even the call was great. I waited for 10 minutes, then I got right through. I wanted the tech to come out on a Thursday and he made it work. He came out for us. Great personality. He does everything administratively himself, too. He was just so busy. Because when I called him to schedule a time for him to come out later that week, he said, “Oh, yeah, I have to call you back.” And I said, “Well, can I ask for this date around this time?” And he said, “I gotta look, let me call you back.” Within five to 10 minutes, I got an email confirmation. He scheduled it for the day and time I asked for it. The AC works. It’s blowing cold air now.
Some of the repairs could be cheaper, but it's not always going to be that every time. It’s that peace of mind. I was just joking with my husband, “Man, this might be the year nothing's gonna happen.” Then that happened. It was so close to the one year. I plan on renewing because of how well AHS has been taking care of us this year. I used to have another provider, and they would pick almost the worst rating contractor. They were good, but it was like pulling teeth. The contractor they picked left the work and never even came back until five months later, supposedly waiting on a part. But the contractors that AHS picks are top-notch. They have great reviews, and are friendly too. And that’s what a lot of homeowners don’t expect, is that they expect home warranties are going to go with the low balling people, because that means they are not putting out money too much. But AHS doesn't do that.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together.

My air conditioner unit outside wasn't working. I have two of them and the one on the other side of the house was down on freon. On the second one, there was some kind of wire that wasn't connecting. When I did the claim, I was impressed with American Home Shield's website. It was perfect. Everything went through and they got back to me right away. They gave us the name of the company that was coming and the name of the individual that would be showing up at the house. Everything was as they said. They gave his phone number in case there was a problem.
The technician was awesome. He came in and asked the right questions. We showed him where the problem was and he was able to diagnose the problem. He filled the first unit with freon up to where it should be and replaced the wire on the second one. He was very respectful and wore his mask. I was pleased. It was 98 degrees that day and after he left, the house started to cool down. American Home Shield came through for us and we were pleased with the response time and the service provided. They were able to send someone in about three hours after we put in the request.

I went onto the website of AHS and submitted a claim. Then, they contacted me in an hour to let me know when a technician was gonna be out in a few days. When the tech first came out, he ordered a part for our AC. Two days later, another guy came out. He had the wrong part, but he had the right part at the office. So he left, went to the office, came back, and then he fixed it. I'm happy with how the AC is performing now. I tell everybody to use AHS. I never had any issues with them. It’s so easy. It’s really basic when you go into the website to tell them the problem that you have with your AC, or your refrigerator, or anything that you’re having problems with. Our shower upstairs had been leaking for a couple of weeks. I made a claim with AHS. Regarding the claim submission process, it was easier this time to find out, probably not knowing that that was covered. The hardest part was to figure out if it was. Then, when we did it online, that was the only part you couldn't be really specific about what your problem was with the shower and a water faucet outside. So, we just had to put plumbing issues. The plumbers suddenly called and said, "Those things are usually covered by American Home Shield. Our technician will come out and he'll submit it before he works on it when he sees the problem, and then he'll fix it if it's covered." And he did.
The tech was one of the better ones I've ever had with American Home Shield. He was very professional. He had a helper that he was training. So, he asked if he could come in with him because he was worried about COVID. It was fantastic. They had masks, they had their feet covered and had gloves on. He had to leave and go get a part for the shower because an internal part there that was leaking and letting water run up the line to the shower and dripping. But he was very quick, courteous and cleaned up after himself. It was a pleasant experience.

I've had better warranty companies than American Home Shield. I had a slab leak and they said they would cover 1,000 of it, but the guy that they sent was about $2,900. They were like, “Okay, well, if you go with another company, we'll give you $1,000 towards the fix. And then, because we didn't do our services, we'll also reimburse $100.” They reimbursed the 1,000, but they never reimbursed the 100. I probably talked to five different people. Three of the five said, “Yeah, we'll get you the 100 back. We're just waiting to get it the processed.” The other two were like, “Well, we don't do that. They were wrong. No one ever told you that.” I was like, “Okay, just go back and listen to the calls.” I finally gave up on that.
I also had an issue with my AC. Something got clogged, and then the pan overflowed into the ceiling. So, the ceiling was dripping down, leaking water into my entryway. They came out and they were like, “Oh, all we can do is clean the line out.” That was all they did. I had to call another AC company and had them come out and strap up the pan so it wasn't leaning a certain way, so it would drain properly. It's very hard to get AHS on the phone, and it's very hard to get them to do or cover anything. I'd tell people to pick a different company.

We were getting a lot of rain back to back then it started to smell, so I thought, “What's going on?” Our sump pump stopped working, and when I had it looked at, the repair company said, “Oh, we just need to replace it ‘cause it's just not cutting on the way that it's supposed to.” The guy taught me some things as well about how to check it and keep it maintained in between times to make sure it doesn't happen again. That was helpful too.
I enjoy American Home Shield's service. It's very convenient. I've only had to use one request, but I'm also a new homeowner, so reading through and getting tips on the website is helpful to at least know things about homeownership. So far, so good. Being my first time as a homebuyer, having a home warranty is beneficial. It's the convenience of knowing that if something goes wrong, I'm paying into a service that can potentially remedy it quickly. I've learned from other family members who recently purchased that sometimes when you have to reach out independently, there's usually a backlog or they have to wait a while. With the ease and how quickly American Home Shield responds to the submission that I put on the website, it's definitely something that I was really glad to have gotten. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have this ‘cause it could have possibly taken me longer to get ahold of a plumber or a contractor for any housework.

We're waiting on some money from American Home Shield, and I just got a $50 bill in the mail that I don't really understand what it's for. We had to get special approval for them to come work on our heat pump. They told us we had to pay for it upfront, and so we did. Then they said that they were going to reimburse us, and so we submitted all our paperwork, but we haven't heard anything back from them yet. It's been about six weeks.
They did fix my pool heater, so that was really good. But one thing I'd like to see them do is not be so rigid on the area that they get people from. We live in Kitsap County, and they're trying to get people from Pierce County or from King County to come over here. Those people don't want to come over here to work on stuff because it's too far away. So, if AHS could get more companies that are more local, it would make it a lot easier for us to get people to come out. Everything else has been pretty good other than that.

We've had an issue in the past with a previous home, and part of the problem was that American Home Shield had not vetted the plumbers that had come out as well as I thought they should, and they were non-responsive to my concerns or complaints. We were with a competitor in the interim, but now, we're back. I did a claim for my faulty garbage disposal online and the website was much better than average. It was functional. Some websites are very difficult because the programmers either don't have a lot of experience in dealing with whatever it is their programming, so they don't cover all of the possible outcomes or problems. American Home Shield's website handled my issue just fine and I was able to get it done in short order and move on.
The motor on my garbage disposal was freezing up when you turn the switch on and if you left the switch on too long, the thermocouple cut in and would stop the power going to the motor, so it was not spinning at all. The unit that was put in was not the same brand. It was a generic unit and it has a completely different sound in terms of garbage disposals than what I'm accustomed to. However, I'm getting used to the new sound, and we'll see if it continues to work well.

American Home Shield has been doing well for me for the years that I've had it. Claims usually are always taken care of. I only had one incident that wasn't due to mechanical failure and one out of the couple times that I've had them come out is okay to me. The only thing is, I keep seeing the price steadily climb. When I started, I was paying under $70 a month, and now, I'm almost paying 81 when their competitors are offering the same services for 70 or less.
American Home Shield should review their competitors' prices and give their loyal customers the same range that their competitors are. Still, my advice to people would be to always have a home warranty regardless. I would go with American Home Shield because I want my stuff protected and myself covered in case anything happens. Accidents happen all the time. My oven broke. I couldn't use it for a year and I totally forgot I even had American Home Shield. They came out and fixed it for 75 bucks.

We've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years, and I would tell anybody, "Just make sure they're living by the ad that they're putting out there and saying to people." I want American Home Shield to live by it. Even if they don't do it in 24 hours, at least say, “Okay, well, it might not be 24 hours. It might be 48 hours.” I don't like the fact that they say, “24 hours, we will have someone out, or we will get back with you.” That's not the case. It usually takes them up to three or four days before someone calls us back then the contractors that they get, a lot of them run late sometimes. The central vacuum system was seized. The motor was not working on the one I had. I called American Home Shield, and then they set me up. I had two claims. I paid them twice. The one was for my electric for my house and the central vac was one of them. The other one was for my cooktop that didn't work and it had a hairline crack in it. So, I paid the difference and I upgraded with them. That was great. But the first people that they set me up with for my electric and central vac do not do central vac. The tech doesn't know anything about central vacs. So, AHS had to schedule me with the second person that came. Both people that came were great.
The repairs helped big time. We couldn't cook at the house. That was pretty hard. Also, we couldn't vacuum the house. We had to go buy a temporary small vacuum just to use in the meantime until we got it replaced. The central vac guy knows what he was doing. He was very educated in what he did. He knew what the problem was. On the other hand, for the cooktop, it was diagnosed over the phone. They knew what the problem was. Then, AHS deemed it was unrepairable and had to replace it. So, the whole puzzle went great with everything. I'd tell people to go with AHS 100%.

I logged in a report for three appliances on the 5th of June of this year. Up to date, my refrigerator issue has not been fully resolved. Express Appliances was the contractor and they are a mixed bag. The gentleman took two and a half hours to do a little fix and he was very diligently doing it, but I'm not sure of his competence level. He installed the gasket and after that, the fridge door was not closing properly. I have heavy-duty boxes placed in front of the fridge to keep them closed. Every time I have to pull out stuff, I have to first move those boxes then open the refrigerator.
That aside, the refrigerator was cooling. I was given a temporary fix and was told that he would order some new hinges for the door. The parts arrived in bits and pieces, which is an American Home Shield’s issue. I made at least seven calls to them every few days to remind them about my part and they kept on saying they would let me know. I’m disappointed with American Home Shield.
I want the service to be faster. You cannot have a refrigerator at home that is not functioning in the month of summer. For the whole of June, July, and August, I lived without a refrigerator and a microwave. Even the microwave was repaired after two and a half months. If my report was logged in on the 5th of June, the latest repair should have been by the 15th or 20th of June. These are simple fixes. But the techs didn’t have the right parts. There was also a communication gap between American Home Shield and the contractor.
We have a very good social network here. By rotation, we have parties. We were not able to throw a party at our turn and people were laughing saying, “How can you have a refrigerator not working for three months?” When we told them that it was because of American Home Shield, they were laughing at how it is such an incompetent company. They gave names for some of the competitor home warranties they are using and told us how they have been much happier with those companies.
American Home Shield had a few contractors who were very good like the one who came and repaired my microwave. The tech tried to go out of the way to help me with certain things. But there was one tech who I had to run after. He walked in with a lot of attitude. The guy said, “I want everything on the floor. You didn’t keep it ready. I’m going.” He did that twice. I told the manager, Nicole, that I do not want that guy ever in my house. I'm not a handyman that I'm able to uninstall a microwave, which is fixed on the wall. It took me and my son half an hour to do that. But that tech was very rude.
Another thing is most of American Home Shield's call centers are in the Philippines. They used to speak to me with no answers whatsoever. I asked them to have the call escalated to a manager and I was promised seven times that within 24 to 48 hours, a manager would call back. But there was not a single manager from American Home Shield who called back. I then would call them back.

The unit was going on and off very quickly and we could hear this swishing noise coming out of the air conditioner in the basement where the unit is. We heard that last year too. We had a new air conditioner, which American Home Shield helped us with four years ago. So, I was pleased with that and I thought about calling them and have them come and take a look at it. The tech came and he noticed that there was gunk totally caked on the outside of the air conditioner. It was terrible. So, he undid it all and washed it down. He checked the condenser and the Freon and everything worked great. He put it back on and told us what we could do or how we need to do it ourselves. And everything has worked fine since. We don't hear the sound. He was very professional, courteous and did everything the way it should have been.
We also had some issues with the leaking water heater and the same company fixed that fine too. The only thing is, when we had the air conditioner replaced four years ago, it was right before my daughter's wedding and it was in the middle of July. We were sleeping in the basement for two weeks. So, the timeframe was a little long in order to get that air conditioner replaced. But I'm not complaining. We were good with it and we made it work. It’s still a response. AHS was in touch with me the whole time. For what I have them for, it has worked very well.
Some of the homeowners look at it asking why they have to pay for a warranty service and that they already have house insurance. We pay American Home Shield $50 a month but when your air conditioner goes out, your furnace goes out, it's $5,000. When you're fortunate enough that you don’t have to pay that $5,000, it's worth it. My son-in-law is thinking about doing it and my mother-in-law is on American Home Shield. It’s like having an insurance policy that you never use but it's there if you need it.

However, I had a previous claim with the air conditioner that has not been resolved. Some days it comes on, some days it’s not. I don’t know the nature of what the last contractor did because they don’t give any documents when they finish. They just say it's fixed, and they leave, and yet, the air conditioning still does not work properly. But they do what they say they’re gonna do. Then the hold time is very long when calling in for a service. When you're transferred, they don't transfer you to the right department. He had it fixed in five minutes. He was super easy to work with. My experience with American Home Shield has been really good. I've decided to renew my home warranty and keep it going with them. If you're the type person who doesn't like having to schedule a bunch of different service people to your house it makes it easy where you just let American Home Shield handle all that. I pay $100 for each service call. But other than that, it’s covered. For instance, the AC job, that would have probably cost me $300 out of pocket. And even with my monthly membership fee of like $70, I'm still at $170 for that service call. That's totally reasonable.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our members is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point.
We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

My first claim with American Home Shield so far has been good. I'm very satisfied. My AC was clogged and the process was fast and quick. I put it in on a Wednesday then two days later, someone was out. He was wonderful. He informed me that I needed a new one because mine was a little bit older. I'm in the process of buying a new one from him as he was so helpful.

American Home Shield’s service has been very good. The contractors they usually send out are professional and knowledgeable. We had to have our refrigerator fixed twice and I recently got a new set of hinges for my dishwasher. They've repaired our stove before and we also had them out to look at our washing machine. I recently had my garage door repaired too. The claims process works well and I haven't had any problem with any of the technicians that have come out. They have all been very pleasant. With having AHS, I like the convenience of making one phone call and then having people come out and fix the issue. We're very satisfied.

My washing machine wasn't draining. When I went to take my clothes out to put it in the dryer, my clothes were soaking wet. The contractor that AHS assigned to me was fantastic. I used to deal with the old Jack's Appliances owner and these are the new people that took over. The lady in the office was very polite and the gentleman that came to the house to do the work was very professional. Now, my washing machine works like a charm. I was so happy with my experience and even though I had to wait a few days for the part, it wasn't like they left me hanging. They let me know in the beginning that it may take a little bit longer since because of the COVID, everybody is behind a little bit. But as soon as that part came in, the tech called me and asked if he could come out at 7:00. I said yes because I get up early to make my great grandson's lunch for school. And when he left, I put a lot of laundry in and everything was wonderful.
I read somewhere that AHS is getting more people in our area instead of waiting for people to come from Vegas and for my last claim, I liked that they didn't try and send me somebody from Vegas because we live 65 miles outside Vegas. The people that they sent are local where I live, in Pahrump. I hate it when they want to send me somebody not from Pahrump. I also hate it when I'm speaking to people overseas that don't even know where I live. But when they said Jack's Appliances, I said that was great.

Last year, the other condenser went. This same guy came out and he fixed the unit. When I had an issue with my heating system last winter, I had another company came out and I was not happy with them. The guy was rude. That aside, I was happy with my service this time. My water heater would never shut off and my bill was really high. Mark the tech explained to me what the issue was and where they were happening. He told me the first thing he was going to do was change the valve and if that doesn't work then we would probably have to get a new water heater. It turned out that was the issue and now the water heater is working. The claim process was very simple and smooth. I liked it.

Our air conditioning went out in August in the desert. Crispy Air & Heating came to our aid very quickly and efficiently. I would recommend both American Home Shield and Crispy Air to anybody. I am 100% satisfied with their work. It was very easy to submit the claim. I was frustrated though because you get the girl in the Philippines, and the first thing she asked was for 75 bucks and I didn't know about that. I thought, “I'm sitting here in a 110 degree house and you want 75 bucks before we even talk?” Other than that, she was very nice and she handled it very well. I asked for a supervisor and she talked me out of it, which is her job, and she did a great job. Then she processed my claim and they came out and fixed it. I'm happy I bought AHS.

All American's scheduling method was interesting, but they did it via text just like they said. The tech showed up a little bit early, which was great. At that time, he was diligent. Everything was leaking in the air conditioner. There was a block of ice that melted. He cleaned out something and rinsed out the pump. For future reference, he took the little pump thing and showed me how to clean it once every three months. He was very thorough in his explanation and my unit is working fine now. I've dealt with other AC contractors in the past and one in particular took 56 days to get it right. They had to go back and forth, and back and forth. But the tech from All American was very punctual.
I hate American Home Shield's automated service. Everything is automated and it does not allow for all options as to what's going on. I needed service and when I called, I was immediately charged to my credit card $100 for the call-on fee. I turned right around and canceled because this was free to me. Before this happened, my bill went up and I was never notified. It increased by $14 and that's a big jump for me for a bill.
The rep at the retention department told me, "Well, you know what, everybody's bill has increased. But since we didn't notify you, let's try to balance this thing off. The next time you have to do a service call, I'm going to give you a no-charge service call. And it's too late, your bill will be processed." This was in August. I was also told that in September, I wouldn't have to pay them, and moving forward, they would keep my fee at $77. That was fair to me. But when I tried to call initially to American Home Shield to place a service call, I was charged for it so I canceled. When I called American Home Shield, a lot of the reps didn't see the free service call but eventually, somebody said, "I see where you've been given a free one-time no-charge service call on anything that your playing covers."
When my refrigerator went out, American Home Shield sent a company out. But the company said, "We don't even work on this." I don't like that American Home Shield does not follow through. Whatever the service tech tells them, that's what they buy. But if the issue is not fixed, this is not correct. You have to keep calling and calling until you get it correct and somebody finally comes out. I don't know how many times I had to escalate that call with my refrigerator until it was right, which meant a lot of food was spoiled and I lost a lot of money. It was over a month of this back and forth until American Home Shield finally sent somebody to set it up. They said they were gonna fix it and make it right. Making it right meant that they had to replace the refrigerator. They couldn't fix it. They couldn't find the part. But they kept doing trial and error. It was stressful. I had to keep going through until I finally got the right people.
Everybody at American Home Shield reads a script. When they read a script, it does not matter what you tell them. You can't even schedule an appointment. You can't talk to anybody. But they automatically charge your card as soon as you say you want an appointment. For me, that's a bit much. $100 is a lot of money for a service call. But usually, when the contractors come out, they can't fix the issue and American Home Shield doesn't cover it. So we wasted money on both ends, paying American Home Shield every month and paying for service calls.
If I could find somebody better, I'd leave American Home Shield. Any event that something goes wrong, it's a fight. It's a struggle to get people to come out here and service the stuff. American Home Shield is a ripoff. But this last experience I had with the air conditioner was a very pleasant one. The tech was very professional.
I do apologize that there is a service issue related to the refrigerator. Please let me know if there are any other questions or concerns. I look forward to hearing from you.

They're pretty quick. I have a pretty good service, so somebody comes right the next day or so. If I put some claim in the system, I will have an answer right away. I recently had an AC issue. It was lacking coolant and the drain was clogged. So, the techs had to do some sort of drainage out of that specific drain hose and it was okay right after that.

In my recent claim, my washing machine was out of balance. It wasn't wringing clothes well. It was just like the clothes were sopping wet when they were finished washing. The repair person that came out told American Home Shield that it would cost too much to repair it. AHS has a program where you can go to their site and pick out a washer from there. But they didn't have one, they were out of stock on a lot of their inventory, so they offered me to go to a local appliance store and get one up to a certain amount of money. I did that and I put it on my credit card. I had to give them my receipt and they're supposed to reimburse me. I also had a claim on the ice maker on my refrigerator. They sent somebody else to fix that and they replaced that ice maker. Overall, AHS is good so far. I pay for months, I'm an elderly woman and I live by myself. I live next to my son, but I don't want him to come over every time I have something to repair.

When Royal Plumbing came out, I had a leak on my second floor. Our house also had a leak in the bathroom but the plumber was saying it was because the toilet is old and it was cracked. He said I would have to replace the toilet. He ripped out a portion of my ceiling to get to the leak. These are the original pipes on the house that was built in the late 1940s. He said that it was a preexisting problem due to the age of the house and the plumbing was put in wrong. He was young and I don't think he knew what he was doing.
He said that he was to see where the pipes had rusted. He said, "You're gonna have to wind up getting your whole ceiling redone 'cause your ceiling is going to fall.” I told him, "Of course, it's gonna fall 'cause you had to rip it out to get to the leak.” I asked would American Home Shield fix it. He said, "I don't know. They'll get back with you," and left. I had called to follow up with the claim myself in the evening time because I didn't hear from American Home Shield. The operator didn't speak English too well. He said it has to be reviewed by American Home Shield and if it's approved, they will contact me. I didn't hear from them but I heard from Royal Plumbing. They said my claim was denied. I asked why was it denied and they told me to call American Home Shield.
I called American Home Shield and told them I wanted a second opinion. The plumber didn't even do a thorough investigation 'cause he didn't even look in my basement. He just went upstairs and in my kitchen. You got to look at that whole line 'cause it goes in the basement down to the sewer line. I told the rep but he couldn't speak English. He had a strong accent and I had to really listen. I had to make him talk slow, so I could understand what he was saying. He recommended a claim. He was saying that due to the age of the house, it was preexisting. I said, "If I hired a plumber and had the leak fixed, and the plumber did put the pipe in there wrong or did something wrong then I called American Home Shield to come out and fix it, that's preexisting.” But these are the pipes of the original house and the plumbing was not done right in the house which is not my fault.
American Home Shield sent another contract out. I told them I was not trying to be age discriminatory, but I wanted a grown man with some experience. I didn't want any 22-year old coming out. They sent a company that was not too far from my house. They sent a grown man out and he did do a thorough investigation. He didn't even have to look upstairs. He did look in the basement and confirmed the pipes are really old. He said the plumbing was put in differently. He knew plumbing more so than the first one.
My issue now is that when I called American Home Shield, the customer service rep said they were going to refund the deductible back. This was on Tuesday and I asked when should I get it. He said they'd post it to my account within 24 hours. I called today and the customer service rep said the other rep never documented that I was going to get my $100 back, but he could give me 50. I asked him could I get something in writing stating that. He said no but he said he was going to put it in the system then. This company is a bunch of liars so I'm already pissed off. I gotta pay for somebody to do the demo work to rip my whole ceiling out. Then I got to pay again to have them sheetrock and put my ceiling back up. Then I got to pay for somebody to come in and put the plastic 'cause they both said that I need plastic pipe.
I'm about to leave American Home Shield after this experience. I can understand if they couldn't cover the full amount but I felt as though they should at least cover a portion of it. When I called customer service, the rep said, "The main reason why American Home Shield didn't cover it is because you only had the policy since August. If you would have had it for a year, they probably would have at least covered it or cover a portion of it." Regardless, that doesn't make sense because if the policy is active, and the situation occurred, then it’s active.
Thank you for your feedback. We show that the service fee is in process. Please allow time to receive. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

Westside Air Conditioning recently came out for our claim with AHS and they found a problem that the air conditioner had since the house was built, and they were able to solve it. They diagnosed the first problem and then they had to wait for the parts for two weeks to come in. Then, once the part came in, they came out the next day. After they did the initial repair, they also found other issues, so they had to come back three days later to fix out everything. We've owned the house for 10 years and the AC is working better than it has ever worked for us. I've had American Home Shield since I bought this house four years and I've used it about four times. Last year when I used them, I was on hold about an hour and a half to talk to somebody. But this time when I've called, it's been three to four minutes. They've gotten a lot better. That $100 deductible may seem pricey at first, but in the long run, it's not going to be at all especially in an AC situation. My premium is about 1,000 bucks a year but if something major goes wrong and I'm covered, then it's gonna pay itself off.
The previous claim went well. The service provider called me that afternoon, popped in the next morning and fixed it. They gave me a couple of tips to avoid having to call a plumber. However, I'm waiting on a service provider right now for my dryer. It's been three days, and I can't get ahold of them. Their phone goes to voicemail, but the voicemail box is full. I called American Home Shield yesterday and the rep was supposed to give me a call back, but he never did. I'm having problems with my refrigerator. I had a repair person come out and work on the refrigerator a couple of times. He was very professional and he worked well. After he left, the refrigerator worked. A couple of weeks later, the problem started again and the refrigerator stopped working. American Home Shield sent out another contractor. He come out on Friday as scheduled. Unfortunately, the problem was not diagnosed correctly. They will have to order another part then reschedule another visit.
It's been quite an ordeal doing this whole process. This has been ongoing for the past couple of months so I am very distressed and disheartened. With the refrigerator going in and out, so much of my food has been spoiled. I've spent a fortune having to throw out spoiled food then having to go to the grocery store every day. It's quite an inconvenient process for me. When you don't have a refrigerator that is operating properly, you can't live and you're losing money. Prior to the refrigerator issue, I've gotten very good and professional service from American Home Shield. All of my needs have been attended to and every time I called, they were right on top of it. We had an issue with the AC and luckily, it was a simple fix. Roman came out and he actually worked on our AC last year. He was with Air Climate Solutions and he was really top-notch. He is punctual and kind. He goes out of his way to make sure we understand what the issue is and he always makes sure we feel like our AC is running top-notch. He makes sure that there's nothing else wrong. We thoroughly enjoy having him work on our AC.
We also used American Home Shield for a leaky pipe this year. The tech could have fixed the whole problem but instead, he needed to come back. AHS didn’t wanna cover it, and then, he wanted to charge us outside of the insurance. So it felt a little fishy. He seemed like he didn't care that much. He only fixed part of the problem. Then he said he only couldn't fix it because he didn't know the part. It was a bummer that our problem wasn't able to get fixed based on how he worded the problem and then offered to fix it outside of the insurance.
When I have a claim, I go online and request the service. It's really easy. So I'm a big fan of that. Also, American Home Shield has a fair price that you're allowed to pay monthly, which is really nice, and the service has always been prompt. The people that come out do give good service. South Belt helped me upstairs. I paid $1,200-something for the inside unit. I told the guy that we were struggling to pay then it broke again. We called the people and my wife talked to them. We wound up paying $70-something. They gave us a little discount because they had just been out there to fix the unit. But it was difficult to get the rep to understand what we were going through. We have been calling back and forth. The unit kept breaking and we would pay so much money. My electric bill was over $1,000 a month because the unit broke. We don't mind paying but if we’re paying the same amount of money or more money for the same thing, why can’t American Home Shield replace it.
It's so hard to replace things through them but they tell you on the commercial if it's hard to fix and they can't fix it, they’ll replace it. American Home Shield doesn't value their warranties as far as if something breaks and they replace it. The only thing they do that on is little microwave issues. For the air conditioner, I've been fixing that same unit for the last couple of years. We should have had one of these air conditioning units replaced. Every two to three months, it breaks.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for close to eight years, and for the last year and a half, their customer service and their follow-up are absolutely terrible. You're communicating with people that do not understand. They use offshore call centers. If I talk about a garden hose bib on the side of the house to someone here in the US, the person would understand. It took me 15 minutes to explain to this woman on the telephone. She kept thinking it was a faucet inside the house. It was ridiculous. Then, they have the hold wait for the supervisor to get on. It can run anywhere from 1 minute to 45 minutes before I can get a supervisor. Generally, at a supervisor level, they at least get some understanding of the issues or the problem.
What happened to us was the contractor that they were to send out never showed up. So, when I called back and asked for a second contractor to come out to address an issue with the air conditioning unit, that contractor did come out, but that contractor quit the company that they sent out, so he never filed his paperwork. So, our job was left unattended. But American Home Shield doesn't have a follow-up procedure. Once they assign a contractor to your home, they don't have any way of following up. If that contractor doesn't follow the paperwork, or turn the paperwork in, or show up, they leave you hanging with no follow-up unless you call back. You could call back and say, “Gosh, it's been two and a half weeks and I haven't heard from you guys.” But why should that go to the consumer? Why should that not be the company's follow-up? They don't have a program.
Then they put a charge on my credit card for the service call where the contractor never showed up. I've never received the refund back. I thought about finding a competitor on the last one, and what they had offered to do was, for all the inconveniences, they were going to discount another year for a couple $100 off. I said, “That's fine.” When I got my statement, it went through at full charge. I just renewed with them but I'm tempted to cancel.
My daughter and son-in-law just bought a new home here in the Portland market two weeks ago and they had an opportunity to have two different companies. Their realtor was gonna buy them a home warranty. I told the kids, “Absolutely no way get involved with American Home Shield. Go with the other company.” I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. What’s sad is that the home warranty concept is a neat concept. The problem with American Home Shield is they're looking at the bottom line like any good company does, but they're jeopardizing their bottom line with customers.

When I call American Home Shield, I'm able to get in touch with them. They've gotten somebody out to take a look at what's going on. The contractors have been very accommodating. I've just had one or two that were a little sharp and impatient. The first time I called them was about a gas furnace and I happened to know the gentleman who came out. He told me that everything needed to be replaced, that it was in bad repair, and home warranty wouldn't agree to that. They told him to just do what he could to patch it. He patched it and it worked a little while, and then I had to call someone back out again for another patch job. That didn't start really well as far as that.
I've also called them at least four times on the air conditioning unit. I've called them on a couple of plumbing issues too, and those got fixed. They were minor things that didn't require a whole lot of expense on a part. I had to pay a $100 service charge when someone comes out, which is going up a little bit. It was 75 when I first started. I didn't even realize it until I called them. I looked at my emails and I didn't see anything in there about it. It'd be good to keep everybody aware that they're going to make those changes to give people an opportunity to decide if they want to continue that service or not.
The help desk is staffed by a foreign source, and sometimes, they're a little difficult to understand, although that's just the nature of the operations now with help desks. But we work through that and be able to get through it. It just takes a little bit more effort to be able to tell them what I want and understand what they're telling me back.

I love American Home Shield. When my AC unit was putting out air but it wasn't cold air, they took care of it, and I will highly recommend them. The repair man was gonna come on the same day, but I had to reschedule 'cause I wasn’t gonna be working from home until the next day. He worked around my work schedule and fixed my AC. American Home Shield is really beneficial to have, especially if you don't have a lot of resources to go to. If you need something fixed, you can call them. I paid for a plumber to come out. He came out but he didn't even look at the problem. He tried run a snake and said it was a blockage. Then, he left. I wasn't satisfied because telling me it was a blockage didn't mean too much. He didn't say whether it could be unblocked. So, I ended up paying again for plumbing services and AHS sent the same guy out. He went to another area of my home and looked behind my washing machine. Then, he went to my bathroom where I was having a problem and he looked. He didn't touch nor do anything, and said that he couldn't do it.
AHS never came back with an explanation. They just said the contractor said that it was not covered. I asked why it wasn’t it covered. I have a blockage and the guy didn't give any detailed information about it. AHS told me that I can get a second opinion but if the second opinion comes out and says it’s something that’s not covered, then I have to pay. I should not have to pay because the person who came out never did anything. I haven't got anything written to fill me in detail why the technician felt like he could not repair it.
My services with American Home Shield are usually well, except for this last time, which was terrible. I'm very dissatisfied. This guy didn't even seem like he was qualified to even do plumbing work. Anybody can get a snake and try to run down and see that there's a blockage but the contractor was unskilled in explaining in depth about the blockage. I recommend AHS to a lot of my coworkers but it's just this time, I've had a bad experience and they don't want to rectify.

The guy had put Freon in so I didn't understand why it wasn't getting cold. I called American Home Shield back and they sent another person out. Every time I have something done, American Home Shield finds somebody or does it the cheapest way as possible. I had the hot water heater go bad recently and instead of replacing it with the original model, they went out and they put me on hold for five days, and I had to wait with the water heater leaking. They found a cheaper model to put in and that's not right.
About a year ago, I had a furnace problem in the middle of winter. American Home Shield sent some guys out here that I didn't feel comfortable being around because it was some off-brand company that I've never even heard of. But they did their job and left. I don't know why American Home Shield couldn't get a well-known company to come in and work on it. Also, I didn't realize in my contract that American Home Shield doesn't cover if the contractor had to be doing some repiping. I had to pay for that out of my pocket. Plus, I had to pay the deductible for the guy to come out and look at it. So then it cost me almost $300 more than what I thought it was going to. With the experience I've had with American Home Shield, I'm really considering getting another company.

I put in my initial request on the 28th of August. It was in reference to my refrigerator that kept shutting off from the breaker box. First, American Home Shield said that they were gonna send an electrician out. I asked, "If you send an electrician out, do I have to call for the request for the refrigerator?” They told me no. When the electrician came, he checked the breaker switch and a breaker box. He said it was short, so he changed it. Then he told me that he was putting in a request for an appliance guy and left. American Home Shield said that the electrician found that there was nothing wrong with the breaker box but he did find something. He changed another switch instead of the refrigerator switch.
When I called for the appliance guy to come, American Home Shield told me I had to put in a new request and I couldn't understand that. When the young lady went to investigate and looked at the notes, she came back and said the refrigerator was not not on the system but the claim for the garage was. I told her that was from a different week from a request that I thought was also involved with the breaker box. She told me I had to put in a new request for the refrigerator and I told her my original request was for the refrigerator. I was told that if the appliance guy says that there’s nothing wrong with the refrigerator, they’ll send the electrician back out with no additional charge.
I had to pay for the appliance guy that came. He pulled out the refrigerator and checked it. He said there was nothing wrong with it. He said that if it was the refrigerator, it wouldn't be working at all. When he went to put the switch back over to the refrigerator, the box was hot. He said, “There's gotta be a short over here.” He believed it was the refrigerator. The next morning, he called me and said he reported it. He wasn't treated very nicely.
I called back to American Home Shield and they said that I would have to pay again because I have to pay for the electrician to come back out. So I did pay the $225 for one problem. The electrician should have checked the refrigerator switch because that was what the original call was about, to make sure that the switch wasn't short. He did not do that. He came yesterday and put the refrigerator switch on. The refrigerator hasn't cut off any more after that. American Home Shield needs to give me my money back. The have foreigners doing these requests and they are not good in English. I've had to keep repeating the same thing and one of them hung up on me. I have called American Home Shield two or three times, and I never had problems from them until this incident.

By virtue of an inspection on the home that we're selling, we had some write-ups on the inspection, and one of the write ups was the upstairs shower faucet didn't have a stop. For the shower mixer, when you turn the handle, it kind of hesitated or hit a little spot, but you could make it go 360 degrees. Nick from 5 Star Air Quality came out and said it was the mixer valve. He pulled the mixer valve because he couldn't figure out what the brand was.
We were moving and almost four days later I was told we were closing off parts of the house as we got the stuff out. We had gotten the stuff out of my office which is downstairs from that upstairs shower. We had a desk left there that we were selling. When I went to show it, I was sloshing in water in the carpet. I thought it was my hot water heater because it's about four feet away in the garage, on the other side. But I went and looked at that and it was upstairs.
I went up there and saw water trickling. I pulled my phone out real quick and videoed it. It was the valve on the hot side. There was water coming out of it and it was leaking straight down the wall. Nick left the handle and the faceplate off, which I wouldn't expect otherwise, but the valve is inside the wall. I turned the valve and closed it and the water stopped. Nick believes the valve is bad, and maybe it is. I love the guy but we had a non-leaking faucet and when he left, the walls filled with water. We are now in our seventh or eighth day of drying. I had to call out a first response there. I'm kind of an insurance ignoramus, so I was trying to get ahold of American Home Shield and 5 Star. But the gal that answers the phone for 5 Star, unbeknownst to me, had a sinus infection for five days, and I was getting no answers from anyone. Nick's on the road. He's busy and not answering his phone.
I finally called first response about two hours later then they got out about two hours after that in the eve. By then, it was 5:00, and they started treating it. There's still one fan left, and it should be done tomorrow but they had to pull some drywall off. Nick is on the schedule to replace the valve tomorrow because American Home Shield turned down my claim.
The gal that I finally got a hold of, all she could read up was this thing saying that somebody would get back to me within 24 hours. This was when I had just fixed the leak, and I was trying to figure out a way ahead. English is not her primary language. Maybe I missed some nuance but I've been overseas a lot and I couldn't get her. They have that menu of what they can say and can't say, and I understand that. But that doesn't make me less frustrated because I felt like I should be able to talk to the supervisor. In fact, I became so irritated.

Then, once you finalize the payment, they will say who your contractor is and that they will contact you shortly here, and you'll receive an email confirmation, etcetera. It was a very smooth process.
The first contractor that AHS sent was Airboss. They came in, looked at the AC and said that it was working fine. But on the handwritten report, it said it needed maintenance and they reported to Home Shield that there was nothing wrong with it. But the AC still wasn't working so I had a second opinion. Ace Heating & Cooling came out. The tech listened to what I had to say and fixed the issue. So it's working good and it was taken care of fast. AHS is a great company. The on and off valve for my washer was leaking and I made the claim to American Home Shield on my app. I loved it. It was so much easier than having to call and wait on hold. The first contractor was supposed to be at my house between 11:00 and 1:00. They showed up at 9:30, which was perfect, and they had the repair done within half an hour. They changed the bushings on the faucet.
I also had an issue with my bathroom. My toilet was going down but it was making noises like air that was there in the system. The contractor said that something might have been in it and it might have gone through. He was very courteous and explained what he was doing. He was running the water in the shower and flushing at the same time. He must have flushed 40 times to make sure everything was okay so that whatever might have been clogging had been pushed through from all the flushing. On the same claim, my shower was not draining. It has this little grate over the hole for the drain that comes up. It's not even mounted down. So I picked it up and there was a little bit of hair on it, and I cleaned it off. But that's gonna be a pain. The plumber said the drain was maybe an inch to an inch and a half wide, so it's clogging. If a little hair gets on the grid, it backs up.
This morning, my feet were in an inch and a half of water instead of it draining down. Whoever put the shower in only put an inch and a quarter drain pipe in there according to the repair guy and it should be much larger than that. The shower is still having issues and I don't know if AHS would turn it down first, saying that this is not a covered issue or if they'll go ahead and send through and then say that they’re not going to cover that. Everything I've done was all interaction over the internet. I'm gonna have to call them and see. Still, AHS is great. I've only done the plumbing and everything has gone through. There wasn't anything that was turned down.

The guy who came out for my oven was courteous. He introduced himself and he wore a mask. He was very careful. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it. My oven is back to normal. When I sent in the claim to AHS, they asked me to share the video of the appliance and I liked that. That was new and it was very helpful. I didn't have to bend any kind of way to try to read the serial numbers. All I did was do the video and took a picture of the appliance with the serial numbers and that was a whole lot quicker than just explaining to them. I've dealt with AHS before and it wasn't that great. But this time, it was a whole lot better.

I had an issue before and when I called to have a company come out, they never came out. I had to keep calling them, and they actually came out after I made the call. There was some bad communication and they canceled three times. They had to keep rescheduling. This most recent time with the AC, my husband got a little bit confused. He thought that the company was supposed to call us, but come to find out he needed to call them so. But it did work. They came out and fixed it and they were gone. We had a problem with the flapper on the toilet and Murray's Plumbing came out and replaced the flapper part on the inside of the tank. Also, there was a problem up in the shower head and so they had a shower head that they swapped out. Everything is perfect. I made the claim through the website for American Home Shield but it didn't ask me for any details. It just asked me if it was plumbing. They usually ask you to write out a description but for some reason, I didn't get that on the site. Also, the site could be more user-friendly if it had radio buttons to let you select not just one but multiple things happening.
I was a little worried about what was gonna happen because of the website, so I called Murray’s and told them what was going on because I didn't want them to come out here and not be prepared and have to come back another day. They were great. They went above and beyond in helping us out. They've been out before for another issue and I like them because they're family oriented. American Home Shield has been there for everything. They haven't backed out nor dropped us and they've done exactly what they said they were going to do, and I've been impressed with that so we have now both homes covered by American Home Shield.

I called American Home Shield and somebody answered the phone right away. The young lady was very helpful and she told me that the next day, a technician would contact me. At first, I kind of did not believe her but the next day, the contractor called me very early and asked if they could have a technician at my house between 11:00 and 1:00. The guy came out and worked for about an hour. He changed the motor and that was it. It was a very good experience.

American Home Shield is good. They send specialists out when you have an issue. I had a leak that went from the upstairs washroom down to the bar. It was 4:00 in the morning when I noticed it ‘cause I was on my way to work and I filed it online as a leak right away. As soon as I put it on American Home Shield, I already had it assigned to someone. Then at 9 o'clock, I called the company right away. Initially, the plumbing company didn't come when they were supposed to come. They came a day later, but AHS did their part.
The guy came, was out here 10 minutes, pushed the little plastic thing in and said it was my water softener. He just looked at it. I asked him to check to see if it was a pipe, and he said, “Well, if it's not leaking since that one day, then that's not what it was. It was your water softener.” I said, “That was the first time it ever leaked ever. So, if you're not checking anything, how do I know it's not gonna happen again?” He said, “Oh, it won't.” He left it at that.

Sharper Solutions came for the dryer. It was taking four different times for my clothes to dry and there was a clinking in it. So, the tech took the top off. He found some change had gotten stuck in the things that come in on your dryer that help tumble your clothes. So, he got the change out of that. He checked my air flow and let me know that it had medium to light air flow coming from the house and that that portion had to get cleaned out. They couldn't do that but right now, it's working fine, since we paid somebody to come out and clean that vent.
The tech from Sharper Solutions was wonderful. He was very professional, nice and helped me understand how the dryer worked. He explained to me why the airflow wasn't working right and told me what to do to test it if I had the problem again to see if it was from the house or from the dryer. For this claim, American Home Shield was good. Overall, they have been absolutely fabulous with everything except for my washing machine. Sears came out to fix my washing machine and I contacted AHS when the part came and told them this was the wrong part. So, they sent somebody else out here. The guy said that I needed a new washing machine. The thing wasn't working right and needed $960 worth of work. So, he reached out to AHS who didn’t want to pay it out. They wanted the tech to fix it and this was during Covid.

My experience with American Home Shield was horrible. The men that come are very nice. I have nothing against them, but they don't know the first thing about fixing a machine. Before the guy left the last time, he said, "Oh, it's increased now. It doesn't cut off as fast." I said, "Well, that's wonderful." He walked out the door, I went to do a wash, and there was no heat. They have not fixed it. Now, I had called them once before about the same machine. They told me, "Oh, you have to blow out the thing." I had the vent blown out twice. It was not the vent. Then, they changed all the circuits. It was not the circuits. Then they said, "We have to order a thermostat", so they ordered a thermostat and put it in. It doesn't cut off as fast, but it's not drying a wash. I'm pouring out money, and the dryer has to be replaced. If they cannot fix the machine, the warranty was supposed to replace it. I am extremely frustrated.
Also, their customer service number has the same woman that answers the phone, and you can barely understand her. When I tried to explain my situation, she just said they have to talk to the contractor. I said, "Okay." Then she came back and said she couldn't reach them. She said, "We'll call you later after I've reached them." That was maybe 8 o'clock this morning, and I have not heard from them since.

A tech came in for the washer and he said the reason the washer wasn't working is that the water wasn't turned on. When he turned the water on, it was leaking so then we had a plumber come out. The plumber said it was leaking because the hose wasn't screwed on tight. We tried to get the washer to work again after he got that to work and the washer still isn't working. We decided to just replace this washer and dryer. But when Best Buy came to remove the washer, they said that there was a plumbing issue with the hot water. Now, we're having plumbers come out again because they can't detach the water hose at all from the washer because it will just leak.
With this whole having an appliance guy come out first, then a plumber, another appliance guy, and now another plumber, it doesn't feel like there's a desire to fully fix the problem. But the customer service from AHS has been great. There are times I wait on hold for quite a while but whenever I talk to anybody, they've been very pleasant and apologetic. But then they had to come back about a week later because the compressor outside stopped working. So they replaced the capacitor in the compressor. It seems to be working since. All the tech seemed real nice. The only downside was on their second visit, they gave me a window of 9:00 to 2:00 but they were running behind that day and they didn’t show up till about 5:30. We had a leak problem and there was water everywhere. It damaged my walls and the whole bottom of the tank was rusted. I did a claim online with American Home Shield and I normally do it that way because customer service reps over the phone never know what they’re talking about or they hang up on you. The techs who came for the were great. But I called American Home Shield and asked them stuff. They sent me an email and said it was some price. I called and they said my appliance was not covered. I asked them to explain what was not covered and if they were going to replace my water heater.
On my receipt, it only said what was not covered, which was very unprofessional. I wanted an itemization of what I paid for. The techs did not replace the drain on the floor and the two tubes for my water heater only cost $35. But I paid $327 and no one explained what that was for. The wife of the owner of the repair company called me back and she ran down itemization of everything they were supposed to do.
Other than that, the techs were professional. I just did not do a follow-up call with American Home Shield because it has been impossible trying to talk to somebody from there. I called twice and customer service hung up on me both times. I ended up buying a water heater for $500 and putting it in myself. I didn’t save anything.

They asked me to take a picture of the refrigerator, then the ID tag from the inside. Took a picture of what was wrong with the refrigerator. The drainage line of my AC unit was plugged up and condensation was leaking into the pan below. A girl who works for the contractor called and said they had a change in schedule and asked if they could come earlier. They weren't supposed to get here 'til the afternoon. I said, "fine" and the techs came right over and fixed my issue. They answered my questions and they were very professional. They even walked me outside to the AC unit and told me what had caused the problem and what I could probably do myself in the future to fix it. It's the first time I've used AHS and I'm completely satisfied with it so far. Go online and check AHS out.

American Home Shield provides very good technicians when you need them. The compressor failed on the refrigerator and we got quick service. The technician didn’t have all the parts the first time on Saturday morning but he got them and finished it that evening. So, I was very satisfied. It worked out well. The repairs can be costly so, comparing the monthly cost for the service with AHS against the repairs, we are at least break even or we come out ahead. It's good to know that we can get our critical things repaired. And if we had multiple failures in any given month or at a time, then we'd certainly save.

I've had problems with vendors in the past. I kept telling AHS that somebody who used to come to fix my air conditioner all the time wasn't nice. He talked down to people. But every time something broke, AHS would send the same guy. Also, AHS should make it a little easier to get in touch with them. When I call, I wait for a long time on the phone just to speak to a representative. Other than that, having this warranty is peace of mind for me because if I don't have a lot of money to put out all at once to get something fixed. Recently, my dryer was smelling like rubber and it was making a high-pitched squeaking noise. About five days after I submitted the claim, the tech came. It would have been great if it was a little sooner but he fixed the dryer in a matter of minutes.

The problem that started with my garbage disposal, when I called back, the contractor came out in a couple of days. They had an opening available so they called me up. The two folks that came out were very nice, professional and did a great job. Unfortunately, it sprung a little leak underneath my sink. Someone has to be here between certain hours for them to come back to redo something that should have been done right the first time. But we're all human and things happen. I'm certain that when I call them back, they will come back out and take care of it.
A lot of people are wary about aftermarket warranties. I'm in the automotive industry. The feeling that I get from talking with a lot of people when they come in to say, “I have a warranty and it says it covers everything,” is that they're possibly misled. That has nothing to do with me, because I understand what my policy covers, and I'm not blind. But in general, American Home Shield has been fine. This is the first time I had to use them and everything went smoothly. Hopefully, it will continue that way if I have an issue with a covered item.

My air conditioner stopped working Saturday night before Labor Day and I put in a service request on Sunday. The only thing that I didn't like was that AHS said I would hear from somebody the following day. They gave me a case number and I didn't hear from someone. I'm sure it's because it was Labor Day but that was a little bit disappointing.
I called the contractor, CTR, and left them a message on Labor Day but I didn't hear anything. I called them on Tuesday morning and they were pretty swamped with calls from the weekend. When they were able to call me back on Tuesday, they told me they'd be out Wednesday and they were. They came at the time they said they would be here and they fixed the problem in 20 minutes. It's all working now.

The AC breaker switch would periodically trip when the air conditioning was running. I was told that it was probably not the breaker switch that was the problem. It was something that had to do with the AC so I called American Home Shield. The guy who came out was very professional. He explained to me what he was doing and he fixed it. American Home Shield is an A rated company. I've been with them for many years and I've never had a problem with them. I have a son who just bought a house. I encouraged him to get American Home Shield and he got it. So far, he's had to have his dishwasher fixed and American Home Shield ended up replacing his dishwasher.

I like the service and the quick response. I recently got the garage door opener fixed and they fixed it in no time. When the contractor said that they were coming, they let me know the date and the time and they came on time. AHS is always there when you need them. I love it.

The gentleman from Greenway came by and looked at the bathroom. I was pleased with that. Fixed the bathroom commode, then he looked at the shower, if everything was okay with that. Looked at the sink. Fixed the leak in the sink. I had one problem. They are going to return on this coming Monday to fix the drainage where it will hold water. But all went well. It was a wonderful experience. They were friendly. And they came in to do what they said they would do, then they left. I appreciate of American Home Shield's services, because us women can't do that kind of work. And if something breaks down, I know that I can rely on them to send professional people to my home.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved.
We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

I typically request service online, which is fine, but something wasn't right with my account, and I had to call. I had to wait and wait and listen to that same recording play over and over. It was very annoying. Other than that, it is a very good service. American Home Shield has definitely been beneficial. We've relocated 1,000 miles away, and we did not know service people to contact. I love the fact that I open a request, then they pick from people and just about everyone that they sent has been quality. There's been one that I wasn't a big fan of, but that is just the luck of the draw. I needed to get them to come back out and another person was sent. That other person again was fabulous.

Everything has taken a long time to be done. You have to go through all these steps. Home Shield writes everything down. They ask you things over and over again every time you call. But the notes are right there. Then they have to write notes all over again. There are too many people on your case, so you don't talk to the same person all the time. So you're constantly repeating over and over again what is going on, which you have already done originally and each time you call in.
The ceiling fan broke down and it was a mess trying to get the contractor to come out, check my fan, and fix it. When I finally had somebody to come out, the contractor looked at it and they felt that the fan was working. I kept telling them it doesn't work properly. The tech said, “Well, look. It's working right now.” But as soon as they left, I turned the ceiling fan back on, and it wasn't working properly. I wasn't getting the three levels that I was supposed to get.
I called back Home Shield and they said, “Well, we have to call them and recall them back out.” But the contractor kept refusing. I asked Home Shield, “Okay, if they’re refusing, why can't you get me another contractor?” But that took a long time to do. Finally, a different company came out. They saw where the problem was and put a fan in because it wasn't fixable.
When I had the problem with the refrigerator door and called Home Shield about it, I had to pay 100 down. But the man never came out. So Home Shield cancelled that order, but they never sent me my money back. Then the contractor that came out had to come back a second time because the refrigerator wasn't fixed. The tech came and said, “I've told you before. You need a door.” I asked him why he wasn't telling that to Home Shield. Home Shield was saying that it was cosmetic. The tech said, “No, it's not cosmetic. You definitely need a door and they need to replace it.” I finally got another call from someone in Home Shield and she told me that it would take 10 weeks for the door to be fixed. So I have to use another refrigerator because there's so much condensation in my refrigerator because it's not sealed properly. I'm waiting for my door to be put on. So I'm not very happy.

The dryer smelled like it was burning. I did a claim and the process was easy but it took longer than I expected. The tech that came out was excellent and he cleaned up the vent. American Home Shield takes care of everything. The only gripe I have with them is it takes so long to get anyone here. It takes at least three to four days and sometimes a week.

The issue hasn't been addressed yet. Our ice bin in our freezer is not coming out all the way. Appliance Pro has been out twice to work on it. They felt they had fixed it, but it's doing it still. I did call American Home Shield and requested a recall, which they took and supposedly conveyed that on to Appliance Pro. Appliance Pro said once they got that recall, they would be able to come back out. But they still haven't come out yet. American Home Shield could improve the people that receive the calls. They could have a better handle of English. They know their products, but they don’t communicate well at all. They're all of another nationality. American Home Shield could also improve their telephone prompts. When I call, I have to go through the same set of commands four or five times before finally reaching out and get somebody on the phone.
