My range was an older unit and the display stopped working. Sometimes food would come out cold after I preheated it. I did a claim and had a scheduling issue. When the service guy came, he was there for 20 minutes and diagnosed the issue. A replacement part wasn't available so American Home Shield offered two choices for the replacement. I opted to take the cash and get my own unit. They are sending me a check for that.

I also had a problem with a gas pipe so I requested service from American Home Shield. They charged my card 100 bucks then a guy came out. He looked at the gas pipe and said it was outside the foundation. He would have to call his manager. I didn't hear anything for three weeks. When I finally heard back, American Home Shield said my claim was not covered because the pipe was outside the foundation. That was extremely frustrating.

There was a guy from the plumbing company that AHS sent and when he left, I looked up their company and found they were really poorly reviewed. It would be helpful if AHS gave the customer an option to choose between a couple certified plumbers, at least then it would be on the customer to decide which of the companies to pick to come out. American Home Shield does have the option to go with an alternate provider but you would have to jump through hoops and your contractor would still have to be certified with American Home Shield.

When we cut the oven on, we'd set it to the temperature, but a minute later, we'd hear, "Poof." So the contractor that came out had to replace the igniter on our gas oven. They were very friendly and the oven is working as expected. It's nice having American Home Shield. I have a known monthly payment that happens and then a deductible if something goes wrong versus an out-of-the-blue expensive repair of an appliance.

A lot of times, American Home Shield has their customer service outsourced to another country, which I get. They want to save money. But they don't really help. It's hard to understand a lot of them to get help with certain claims and explaining it to them. That's what sucks about it. The contractor recently came out and fixed the pump. I had another claim even before that. It was something underneath my floorings in my house of the kitchen. It was covered up to $1,000 to get the access to it. AHS didn't cover it. I had to go through other sources to get it covered. And then, once I got it fixed and got access, AHS wouldn't cover it. So, this is my second claim, with the pool pump, and that is how I feel it should have worked out. But the first time was a horrible experience.

American Home Shield is perfect. Every time we call them, they get somebody out here quick or they contact the contractors within 24 hours after I call. The contractors that they get are local people and they get here within a day or two days to come and fix our problem. So far, everything we called about was taken care of by AHS but there was one issue we had that we thought was covered but it wasn't. We had a power surge and our air conditioner went out. The contractor came and after they fixed it, we were having a power surge but we didn't know what it was. So, they referred them to Leslie Electric Company.

After the contractor fixed the air conditioner, we still had the power surge and we lost some power. We didn't know it but it burned out electric bulbs and we still didn't have the power in the yard light out in front. We have fluorescent light bulbs down in the basement where they had to put two new types of a transformer type thing in the light socket that they had to replace. They put the new bulbs in and did all the work. And then, they told us that wasn't covered. So, that ended up costing us money. We thought it was under the AHS protection plan but they said they don't do things like that there. If we would’ve known that wasn't covered, we wouldn't have had it fixed.

Still, we have referred AHS to other people. But other people don’t know that they could go ahead and buy the it without having to buy a home. So, we’ve told quite a few people it’s well worth it. The initial $600 is much but you can always make a payment plan on it. My one granddaughter has it. The other granddaughter just bought a new house and we told them it’s a good investment. You can’t have a house without it.

The AC wasn't coming out cold and when Service One Air came in, they did an excellent job. The only difficulty I had with American Home Shield’s claims process was when I got my water hater replaced. The original people who were assigned to my case to do the repair had terrible ratings. A lot were from customers who had AHS. The contractor wasn’t getting the work done or there was some deception. So, I ended up calling back AHS and I requested another contractor instead of the one that they had assigned. That particular representative was good and I got to pick between the two which one I wanted. I wish though that there was more knowledge about what I can potentially be paying out of pocket. That wasn't very clear so when the request was sent in, they had to review to see what AHS covered. I didn't get any letter or an email so I didn't understand nor the terms that they used to make the decision of why they wouldn't cover all of it.

I'd like more transparency in the decision-making process whenever it's under review and that would be beneficial for a lot of customers as well, to know what's going to be paid out of pocket, especially if the item is covered under AHS. They are good and I've had nothing but positive experience with them. But the people that are contracted under them have terrible reviews.

The garbage disposal was leaking and the motor would turn on but the blades weren’t spinning. So, either it was jammed up or the unit had gone bad. There was probably more that has been jammed up until it was leaking at the bottom. So, we put the request in for that to American Home Shield. The contractor got the whole thing fixed in less than 24 hours. It was fast and the garbage disposal is working great now. The guy who came out was super helpful and friendly. He diagnosed the issue and replaced the unit and the associated plumbing fixtures. It was easy-peasy. This is a good experience with AHS. We got the work done cheaper and faster than if I would have tried to do it myself.

Atlanta Air first came out back in June. The first air conditioning was completely out and the motor had burned up in it. Then we had another issue with another unit that just quit cooling. They were very good. But the first contractor for the refrigerator was a lot of trouble. He never came out and would never answer phone calls. I even had my daughter try to call him from a different number but he wouldn't answer the phone. Then, AHS tried to call him but he didn't even answer the phone for them. So I told AHS I wanted somebody new to come out and they sent Sears out. The tech said that there was no way to fix the crack in the back of the refrigerator and there wasn’t anything he could do. He was very knowledgeable and nice. He was gonna submit that to AHS and they're working on taking care of it. AHS is good but I would like them to follow up on stuff a little better.

The claim process seems fairly self-explanatory. Luckily, we didn't have to dispatch American Home Shield contractors out that very many times. But when AHS does, they usually are quick in responding back, with either them calling or the assigned contractor calling. And it was only once where we had an issue with them, which took me a half a year to resolve. I've had some contractors, especially for the AC companies, that I wasn't particularly fond of. But it is what it is. Recently, our air conditioners stopped working. And it turned out to be a capacitor that the tech said was dead. And that was why the compressor ran hot. So, he changed out the capacitor. And we haven't had any issues since then that I'm aware of.

The Freon is hardly paid for and I to pay most of it out-of-pocket, which comes at a costly price. They may purchase the hardware and the unit itself, but whatever you have to fill up, they only a small fraction of that. But I would still recommend them because all in all, I pay a small fee. And most of the time, if everything goes well, they replace the item that is broken, free-of-charge, except for the service fee that I have. It’s still better than having to pay out-of-pocket myself.

My air conditioning unit had been intermittently not working over the past year and I had several people come out for it. Some of them were iffy. I had the same problem over the years and nobody was able to identify it. The best contractor I had was Ohohna. The tech came out because the unit stopped working altogether. It was blowing but the fan wasn’t cooling. He immediately fixed the problem, so I'm thrilled. He replaced the compressor and the unit is working beautifully now.

Making a claim with AHS is easy. But I wish there is an easier way to cancel stuff. I would call AHS and say, “I haven't actually utilized this claim yet. Can I cancel and get my deposit back?” They would tell me that they would have to call the contractor. A streamlined process would be nice. Other than that, I really enjoyed the service and I appreciate AHS.

American Home Shield was widely known, reputable, and not a lot of headache to deal with. We use them in our other home, and there was an issue with the washer and dryer. It was taken care of without a problem. Also, there was dripping in our vent. We didn't know what it was, so we reached out using American Home Shield and they assigned the company to come out and take a look at it. And when they did, it's just there was a blockage in the line. They were able to clear out the blockage. Get coverage and maintain it. Even if you're buying a house and the sellers offered it, it is helpful to go with a company that is reputable. Don't go by a local company. Go with a national company. They are going to have better resources.

The claim process of AHS is very straightforward. Whenever there's a problem, it's addressed a lot faster. 'Cause I had a different one before American Home Shield at a different property. No comparison. Like the 24-hour turnaround, and then the contractors that AHS has on file are pretty good. The other one had bad contractors. So far, so good. I'm happy to be with AHS since I moved over to them. For my recent claim, my heat wasn't turning on. The tech looked at the thermostat, at the boiler, at the pipe, at everything that was needed to be looked at, and figured out what the problem was. Ordered the piece, put the new piece, and then tried it again. It communicated fine. It started up the boiler right away.

I have to enter the claim online and I don't know whether I'm going to get some kind of service. That aside, a service guy showed up exactly when he said he would. He was very knowledgeable. He looked at the unit and knew what the problem was. He said it was a capacitor. He had the part in his truck and he replaced the capacitor. He was here for 15 minutes. Everything has been working wonderfully since and we are not roasting down here in Florida. I would recommend American Home Shield to anyone. I had their sister company in Ohio when I bought my home and I continued to pay the monthly fee because they saved me a ton of money over the years.

My washing machine didn't work and it was leaking. Service technicians came and tried to fix it. But water was still leaking all over. They ordered a part and that came in the same day. The technicians came back that evening and put the part in. The machine was propped up so they were underneath the machine trying to fix it. There was flooding so they fixed that too then cleaned up the machine. But it was still not working. They said they were gonna have to order another part.

I saw some computer piece, panel, and other things come in. A technician came back yesterday and installed the parts. He was here for a couple of hours. The machine kept flooding and he had to vacuum up the water. The tech did the best that he could and he explained everything, but the machine still didn't work. It’s done. I told the tech, "At this point, I'm gonna need a new machine. I've been without a machine for about a month. I have nowhere to wash clothes. I have an elderly cancer mom here." I have to struggle and go to a laundromat. It's been really crazy.

With all the pieces the technicians put in at that point, a new machine is warranted because they tried everything and there was nothing that was working. The tech said he was gonna do a write-up and added that maybe they would come back that night and try again. But no one came back. This aside, American Home Shield is a great company to use and I have given their name to a couple of family members who bought homes. I advise to definitely use the home warranty because you can always get someone to come out.

I had a big issue with my washer and my dryer not too long ago. Unfortunately, they both crapped out on me at the same time and I told American Home Shield about it. The guy that came out fixed the issue about the washing machine but ended up breaking another stuff that was a big deal there. I called and told AHS about it. Then it took two months to wait for the parts. I didn't have a washer and a dryer at that time. I would go into a washateria, which I didn't like to do, and that was costing me about $100 per week, which was ridiculous.

It was going back and forth and big misunderstandings. Whenever I requested for somebody else to come out, AHS sent the same guy that messed it up the first time. In fact, he messed something else the second time. I told them not to send him, and that was another thing, communication-wise. One time, he was here till about 11:30 at night and I didn't like that. I told him that it was time to wrap it up as I needed to go to sleep. He was literally here for six hours and he didn't get what he had to get done. As a matter of fact, it ended up getting worse.

I like my washer which is $1,300, $1,400, but I had to replace it with a $700 one because I got paid out, which sucked. AHS ended up covering it which was great. But I had to pay for my dryer because I wasn't going to wait around. The washer was washing okay enough to wash. But it was still banging all over the place and making a lot of sound. I told my wife that I would just buy the dryer as I couldn't do without drying clothes.

I'm a Realtor and I use AHS for my contracts all the time. But I told them that I would stop sending clients to them. I hope my clients are not being treated like the way I was treated. It was pretty unfair. Mostly everybody in my office uses American Home Shield also, but at the same time, we should be taken care of in the sense that that's what we paid for that service for.

In getting a home warranty, make sure that everything's explained from the get-go. Especially when a company is sent out, make sure that everything is discussed right away. My issue was that as soon as the company left the first time, I just waited around and I didn't check up because they told me they would give me a call. But we should have discussed the issues. As soon as the person leaves, AHS could give a call and say, “This is what's going on with your washer. It’s gonna be this long before we get the part.” That would be really helpful. But then every other time, I've had great service that’s why I keep them. In my recent one, the AC had a clog in one of the drain pipes. The contractor came out and fixed the issue right away. Overall, it has been pretty good experience.

Someone already worked on the kitchen and this tech's company doesn't do refrigerators so he was there for the other leakage. He looked underneath the kitchen and he fixed the leak. He was very good.

American Home Shield's claim process is super difficult. My experience with them has been poor and I’m trying to get rid of them. There is poor service and a lack of communication. It is extremely annoying having to walk through robotic things to get to someone. It’s even more upsetting being transferred all the way to the Philippines to try to conduct a service.

At this point, I have to put another claim so that American Home Shield can refund me my money. They just take the money but they don't approve this and that. The delay of things is beyond ridiculous. My cholesterol level goes to a very high level with this company. An insurance company is supposed to cover things and help us and not give us a feeling of being attacked. I wouldn’t ask them for a favor. This is something that we pay for.

So, my wife called whomever she called the first time and the tech is scheduled to come out again this Monday.

Our house is getting to be 18 years old so we figured we would try out American Home Shield and see how it works. We investigated the different options and plans then picked one that worked out best for us. We did a claim for our refrigerator. The first guy that came out said he couldn't do the job because it had to do with Freon. American Home Shield gave the job to another company that contacted me and was out within two days. They were quick, attentive, and professional so we were happy with the service. They had to order a part so we had to wait about a week to get that in. They put the part in and let the refrigerator sit for 24 hours then we were good to go.

I was having trouble with my thermostat, and Air Resolutions by AirMack came out and changed it out. I did my claim online, and I liked American Home Shield's website. It's good. It was very easy to use. Also, AirMack notified me right off. When they came, they were changing the thermostat out. It wasn't working. They tried to put new batteries in it and they did everything to it. They couldn't get it to work. So, they put a new one on. American Home Shield is the oldest and the best. I put a claim in recently for a sump pump. It was running constantly. A contractor came out and said they saw something that was wrong with it that was causing the malfunction, and they replaced it. The first time we submitted a claim this year happened to be the same company that came out to do the warranty. It wasn't anything American Home Shield did, but the company that they assigned us, More Than Plumbing. The claim was kind of sitting out there because nobody was available to do it. It turned out the ops manager had rejected it because she didn't understand the scope of the project.

Eventually, I called her and talked to her, and everything made sense. We got it all squared away. They came out, did the necessary work, and it was perfect. I completely understand why she did what she did. We said that we felt that there was water in our basement coming from our well pump. Her assumption was it was pouring in. She wasn't going to be able to have anybody come out for a few days because the main person was going to be on maternity leave. I told her it was not pouring in. It was kinda like a pinprick-sized hole, but it was something we wanted taken care of sooner rather than later. She said, "I got somebody who will be available next week. Is that fine?” I said yes and she said to have American Home Shield rerun the request and she'd accept it.

That’s been the only hiccup so far. But the company itself that we’ve been working with both times has been great. One of the things that I found out from her was when the contract says that American Home Shield covers the well pump, that it covers just the well pump. When I saw that there was water coming in from the water treatment, it turned out to be the pressure tank and the pressure tank wasn't covered. According to her, nobody has those covered. It would be nice if the home warranty company could educate us on it.

The icemaker in my refrigerator went out and American Home Shield replaced it. It was no problem and I was very satisfied. Then, I had an upright freezer go out and AHS told me they were sending somebody out. I called the contractor and they said they don't do freezers. I felt like the person that I talked to at AHS wasn't very knowledgeable about that. When I called back, the rep said that the freezer was not in the contract and I was wondering why I wasn't told that when I first called. Recently, I was having trouble with my dishwasher and it took a while for the contractor, Axis, to get out. But it wasn’t an emergency. The tech diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and replaced it. But it's not fixed. I had to call them back today and they're supposed to call me back.

We went to the website and put in the two items, the gas range and microwave. When GE called us, I asked about the other thing but they said it was not on there. I said, “Oh, I have a print out of what it is, and this is what the claim number is.” It had two items. For some reason, it didn't hit. So, GE resubmitted, and it was fine. They said, “You're absolutely right. You don't have to pay any more money.” Because when we did the estimate online, it would tell us how much money we have to pay.

The microwave quit working. The tech came back a couple of times and finally fixed the microwave. Then my gas range, the knobs went out where the igniter wouldn't work. So the tech ordered a part for it and came back. When he put the parts in, it doesn’t stop clicking when I turn the knob off. If I don't do anything, I turn it on so I can set my clock, it just starts ticking. And my concern was if one of my grandkids hears it clicking, I walk in to turn the gas on, then I get fire. American Home Shield deemed it unserviceable.

The process went great. It was spot on. The contractor came when they said they would. They did their assessment. “Hey, I ordered this part. It’s going to be mailed to your house. When I get here, open your door, and we’ll put it in.” And that’s what they did. He was an amazing guy. He came, was courteous and clean. He didn't leave any messes. I put in the request to get the payout because it would cost me a bit. It’s 654 AHS would send me. They said I would have it in 10 days. Don't wait until something breaks down. Get American Home Shield now. As long as it's working, they will cover you.

The issue with a ballast on the fixture in our bedroom started a few weeks ago. The contractor came down and fixed it within minutes. They were very professional. The electricians they sent knew exactly what to do, they did it, and cleaned up, and off they went. I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years with five different homes. I've always had a good experience with them. In fact, I turned my sister and my son on to them. Every time we've moved, we've made sure we had them. But I might not renew this year because they went up a lot on our premium.

When I spoke to the girl at American Home Shield, I told her, “This is not right. I've been with you guys 20 years.” But she said, “There's nothing we can do. There's nothing we can do.” So I probably will be going with someone else, even though I've been with them all that time. My husband and I are retired so we don't have the luxury of earning money and going out there. We live on a strict budget. So to us, a $200 increase is a lot in the course of the year.

The contractors were all very competent. They came when they were supposed to come. The first two couldn't figure out what the problem was, or they couldn't fix it. The third guy found the problem and ordered the right part. When he came to put it on, he said he couldn't do it by himself. It's a built-in old Kenmore. He said he would find someone.

After a couple of weeks, they never called, so I called them. The lady was very nice and said she would call American Home Shield and get someone with a team to come out. They got Caltech to come out. Within a week or so, they were out to fix it. The three of them were able to put the final piece on. We're satisfied it got fixed though it took so long to do it. However, we found out that American Home Shield fixes everything but icemakers. If we had a new icemaker, that's not covered. Also, they're very hard to get ahold of. But we are happy with them. We had several things that they fixed and checked on things for. We like the $75 service then they take care of everything. That's very nice.

The repair took two trips and our unit is fine now. When you have a home warranty, there is the ease of knowing that if there is a major repair, you don't have to worry about it.

I only have one issue. I have a technician or company that I've been using to service my air conditioner every six months. I knew they could come out that day to get me up and running. But Home Shield had already tasked out the other company. I couldn't transfer the work over to the company I know. It's not a big deal. But when it's the air conditioning in Alabama and the heat is 90 degrees in the house, I've got to get somebody in there. A transfer process would have been easier.

Furnace Doctors was our contractor this time and they figured out what the problem was. They ordered a part then came back and did a replacement. The unit now works. The only thing is I had to pay the $100 fee twice to fix something that the first tech didn't fix completely. I shouldn't have to pay to fix the same thing twice. That was a little frustrating.

I called AHS and told them that I had a sprinkler pipe bust, that I needed somebody to come out. The rep scheduled it. I said, “I need it now because I had to turn off my water to the sprinkler system.” And she said, “Okay, that's fine. So you're looking for a plumber?” I said, “Sure, if that’s who fixes that.”

A very nice young man came out. But when he walked up, he said, “I don't do sprinkler systems at all.” Because the sprinkler system right on the foot of the house was leaking. And on the pipe, he said, “Well, that's not on immediately on your property, we don't do that. However, a different plumber would do, because we don't do anything with plumbing with regard to sprinklers.” I said, “Okay, that's fine. Thanks for coming out.” He was professional but he couldn't provide the service I needed because it wasn't anything that they do. I said, “Do I get a refund?” He said, “Well, you have to take it up with AHS.” I'm still waiting to hear if I'm gonna get a refund.

The issue with my dishwasher, the tech didn't fix it. I never even saw that individual. He dealt with my kids because I was at work. So he never even acknowledged me or reached out to me. People need to read the fine print in home warranty policies and go through it line by line to see exactly what's covered and what's not covered. If they don't take the time to research that and they’ll buy a home warranty, they'll think that they're covered for certain things. Then if something goes boom in the middle of night, they’ll be shocked to learn that their policy got nothing covered. When I was looking at policies for the air conditioning, furnace, and hot water heater, I specifically went through to make sure the furnace, their air handling motors, the ventilation system with the dampers and the thermostats, the entire system are covered.

One could have gotten another policy that wouldn't have covered all those things, and he would be paying $15 a month cheaper. But those are thousands of dollars. It's better off paying the extra $15 a month because it is insurance to get that coverage to have all those major systems and components. Then if reading those policies, one would find things that are covered that he may not even think were going to be covered. I had no idea until I actually got the policy and I read it that our garage door openers are covered.

A couple of years ago, a company was dispatched to fix our dishwasher. When shutting the door, it doesn’t latch properly. There’s a sensor that senses like, “Don’t run the dishwasher if the door’s not fully closed.” It was saying that the door was not fully closed, even though it was. It was just that the metal on the sides of the dishwasher was failing for some reason. They continually repaired and replaced the digital control boards and everything else on that dishwasher. We only paid $75 for one service call, and AHS spent $5,000 with that contractor, and it never got fixed.

The thing that made me angry about that one instance is after the serviceman comes out, the dishwasher works for three days and it stops, then I have to call in and say that it's still a problem and it needs to be fixed. AHS notified the contractor and that they’d be out in 3 days. We went for three days doing dishes by hand. Then, they'd come out and fix it, or they'd come out and say that they would have to order another part and it would take seven days. Now, 10 days had gone by without a dishwasher. They came back out, put that part in, it worked for three days, and then it stopped working again. I had to call the company again and they dispatched somebody. It’s another three days, it’s another part.

We spent nine months without that dishwasher working because AHS kept dispatching. I kept telling them and I even talked to one of the supervisors that they should have replaced it instead. They would have saved a lot of money and I wouldn't have gone a better part of a year. But they never suggested it. Finally, we had enough of it. We went to Lowe's and bought a brand new one. AHS completely failed on that, and they wouldn’t listen to anything, so that was bad. They did the same thing with the microwave. It worked, but it took them three tries to figure out how to fix it.

But we’ve called for something over the course of the last four or five years that they’ve fixed. Recently, the upper story of our house was not getting any air conditioning. Prayco Plumbing Heating and Cooling came out, did a diagnosis of the whole system, and determined that one part of the thermostat-controlled damping mechanisms had failed. The guy was great because he figured out a workaround. The damaged damper defaults into a closed position, which means it blocks the airflow from going upstairs, like a gate, and he removed that entirely so that there would be airflow going all the way up to the second floor.

Normally, there are some dampers in the air conditioning system and they open and close at different times based on which part of the house needs heat or cooling. In this case, we’re just running wide open, so everybody gets the same cooling, and it works. Then they were able to find and order the part, and they’re coming back on Thursday to install the part they need to replace it to get it back into 100% working order. We couldn't have been any happier.

My refrigerator went out and I had to have a contractor come out. Due to the pandemic, I had to wait almost a week for them to come out. But they were able to assess and come up with the findings of what was going on with my refrigerator. Then I could not find a replacement refrigerator on the site and so I chose to go out and buy my own fridge. The actual site also does not explain the process clearly. I thought American Home Shield would send me a check and I waited for it. When I called back to respond to whether or not they had sent it out, they told me that I need to purchase the refrigerator and they would reimburse me, so it was a misunderstanding. They need to rework the process to make it more clear.

I had a flushing problem with the toilet, and evidently, something got stuck down in there. When the first guy came out, I thought it was fixed because it flushed for about a day. A second guy was out saying it was with the reservoir and that he altered the flush pressure I was getting. That didn't last about 10 minutes and he was gone then. A third guy came out and I wasn't here but I left an instruction. There were some baby wipes on there and he said that those can't be put down there. First of all, nobody was putting them down there. Secondly, those wipes on the package said flushable, so nobody was throwing anything down there. But even if they were, that wasn't the problem. Even if that were the problem, my john could be flushed, but it would take seven or eight minutes for it to drain. One might pee in it, but he could not do anything else in it.

Everybody knew this thing needs to be snaked. It has nothing to do with the reservoir. This water is not draining properly. I was gone for 10 or 11 days on a holiday and it was my understanding from my last conversation with them that AHS had to get a report back from the plumber they contract with before they could turn to another plumber. But I never heard anything while I was gone.

I got back yesterday to john. It's not working. I called AHS back up this morning and they put me on hold for a while then came back and said that they would get me another appointment and that the plumbing company would call and they would come out again and see if they could fix it. We've had a very good experience with American Home Shield in the past. It's been as good as this has been bad and it's just hasn't worked. They're just not fixing the toilet. I am dissatisfied with this experience. But I understand stuff happens. As long as they'll make good on what they're supposed to do, I'm gonna be happy and continue to use them.

The most recent claim was with the oven. The repair person talked to us then looked at the issue. Through the diagnosis, they determined that the part was no longer available, told us that it couldn't be repaired, and that it was being left us to try to determine if we could purchase a new appliance. American Home Shield offered us amount that you could not purchase anywhere an oven like we had. They offered us 650 for a 1,500 oven. When we found that we could not get that, we made a call back and American Home Shield made a greater allowance for us to be able to get an oven. They did send us the money but it took a lot of work on our part and it still is not what an oven would cost. American Home Shield needs to understand that the cost of appliances appreciates.

This is a built-in oven and we have to have what will fit. The cheapest one that we could find was 1,499. American Home Shield says, “If we can't fix it, we will replace it.” But they never say that you have to add money to the amount in order for it to be replaced. We're going to have to add a minimum of $200 to get back to where we were. Then you gotta get it installed and make sure you can even do that without trying to change the cabinetry which can really get expensive. If we had accepted the $600, we would have been way off. We would have been even less than half of what it's going to cost us to get a new appliance. It's kind of false advertising.

They would be sending an estimate or report to AHS what kind of service we need to do as well as the diagnosis they had. We also talked about the possibility of an upgrade. We waited for several days but we didn’t hear anything. My husband called AHS and he said we didn’t receive the order right. So, we followed up with the plumbing company three days ago. AHS and the plumbing company communicated and things started moving forward. We asked for the upgrade but we still haven't got it scheduled to when the techs are going to install. It’s been almost 10 days since they came and we still have no air conditioner.

I called AHS’ customer service yesterday and they said that they already ordered but they need to check on something else to tell us when it will be scheduled. We hope they can ease their schedule today or tomorrow, but we haven’t gotten a call yet. We will wait until lunchtime and then do a follow-up. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. When I reported the issue, they immediately processed it.

Another company came in yesterday to take a look at the issue, and the guy was super rude to my wife. She told him what the issue was, and he didn't believe her. He turned it on and said it was working. My wife said "You got to run it and it's not draining. We have to open it up and let all the water out." He said he didn't have time to sit there and recreate that issue. He said, "I'll let you guys know," and left.

I wanted to change to a different company. American Home Shield couldn't change the company but told us they'd send a senior technician out. A technician came out right away for my air conditioning unit that wasn't cooling. He's been here before and I like him. He held something over the vents that showed the temperature of the air that was coming out. Then he went back and checked it. He looked at the thermostat and went outside. He got a hose and cleaned off the outside unit and added freon. I did call back yesterday to find out why the freon got low but I haven't gotten a callback yet. But I was pleased with that claim.

There have been times that I have to wait a long time for service in between the time that I place the claim and the time that somebody comes out. One time, it was three weeks from the time they finally got to come out. They looked at it, ordered a part, and it took a long time. I have another claim on my refrigerator freezer that went out, and it's been 11 days. A contractor came yesterday and replaced the parts that they thought was having an issue. Then it turned out it was something else. Now, they're trying to find me a contractor to come out and look at it. They said 24 to 48 hours on that. I've been with no refrigerator and I'm working out of an ice chest. They said they need a freon specialist and they have to find one. They found one place but they didn't do it so they sent it to the dispatching office to find somebody.

My son talked me into American Home Shield as he thought it was a good deal but he canceled his policy the other day. He wasn't happy. He wasn't getting the air conditioning unit to blow air in the bedroom to cool it off. They told him that it wasn't part of the contract to fix it. But American Home Shield saved me money on the air conditioning unit I had to have put in. It would have been probably $3,500 instead of 800 or 900 that I had to pay.

They couldn't because their contractors were so booked up. I had American Home Shield look for somebody else and they were giving me something even further out. I told American Home Shield to just send me the guy for the day that they originally gave me. They did.

A tech came out in the morning and looked at the issue. He went back to his truck, got a whole new fixture, and put it on instead of trying to fix the one I had. He said it wasn't repairable just by looking at it. He did the repair in about an hour and I was really impressed. Everything worked out great. I was surprised that the tech was able to fix the issue the same day because usually, techs don't carry the parts with them. They would say they would have to order parts then come back another day to fix the issue after they get the parts.

I've compared American Home Shield with some other companies doing the same thing and they don't come close to American Home Shield. But American Home Shield should get a lot more subcontractors. They seem to only have a few contractors that serve High Desert. This way, the guys they have aren't booked up and customers don't have to wait so far back.

The door of the fridge that came with the house when we bought it was popping open on its own. 10 days after we made a claim, someone came out and he was super nice. The fridge is designed where if you close the fridge door, there's a damper in between the two so the freezer door will pop open. If you close the freezer door, the fridge door pops open. He adjusted the door so it suctioned to close when you close the door and that resolved the majority of the issue. The door still pops open if you don't really pay attention to it. The tech was a good guy. We just upgraded our range and had the old range in the garage. He asked about it and said that when they run into people that are down-and-out, they fix appliances up and donate them. We donated our range.

A home warranty covers all the appliances and the HVAC. When you buy a new home, you don't really know how things were taken care of before you bought them. We'll probably keep American Home Shield moving forward because we bought quite a few new appliances and it seems like newer things break down more often.

It's been a lifesaver having American Home Shield. We've bought over 60 policies with them for the second year in a row. At least we can always tell the tenants immediately that we're on the issue but the thing is they have to wait for the provider to come and service them. It takes time and you have to be patient. These home warranty things are not done in a day. I've got an open order for a dishwasher that we've been working on for two months. Sometimes American Home Shield resolves the issue, sometimes they don't.

I find that the prices vary between the vendors for plumbing on water heaters and that's frustrating. Water heaters has become the biggest problem because sometimes, if we have to pay an overage, some say 900, some say 1,200. It should be standard overage pricing. But the service has gotten better. At the beginning of the pandemic, the hold times were an hour to an hour and a half. Now, the hold times are 2 to 10 minutes. It's not that big of a deal. Also, the language skills of the operators were really bad at the beginning of the pandemic but they're getting much better. You can understand them.

Anytime that I need anything, American Home Shield sends someone out immediately - two times, without question, they cover the repairs. I've been happy. There was rust coming from the air conditioner so I had someone check that out. We were told by a regular air condition guy that either the unit or the whole coil would need to be replaced. I called American Home Shield and Consolidated Mechanical came out. It got done right away. The tech showed me pictures of what he did and gave suggestions. This is the second time somebody has come to look at this air conditioner. I want to make sure that it was a company with a 5-star rating that's coming out and that's what American Home Shield sent me. I liked Consolidated Mechanical very much.

Xclusive came and diagnosed my fridge and my oven range. They did a pretty good job because they fixed one of the fridges. I was happy with that. The fridge was leaking and the drain was clogged. The tech cleaned it up and it doesn't leak anymore. For the other fridge, we needed a motor for the compressor. The tech ordered it, came back, and replaced it. The freezer now freezes. But Xclusive could not resolve the range issue so American Home Shield contracted someone else, who came in and did a decent job. It was not completely to my satisfaction but they said it was the best they could do.

I had other issues that I wasn't happy with. I had a plumbing claim and I had to leave because of an emergency. I told my two teenagers what the issues were. A guy came, took advantage of them not knowing a lot, and brushed them off. I had to do another call. The guy came back and fixed the issue. Again, it was not completely to my satisfaction.

There was also the claim for my showerhead that was making a lot of noise. The tech said it was the showerhead. As a process of elimination, I asked him to replace the showerhead with one from another bathroom. He put it in and said, “Nope, that is it. You need a new one and it's not covered. For the toilet, he said the bidet was leaking. I said it was not. And whether it was leaking or not, I knew my bidet was not covered. He fixed it. There was another bathroom that he needs to come back to. We're all busy and I have no time to follow up unless it's a huge thing that I get reminded about all the time. The toilet is for my son's room and he's not here. But just because I forgot to follow up with American Home Shield does it mean they should forget.

There was also a time when I tried my oven and the igniter wasn't turning on. I started smelling gas. I initially thought it was because I was trying so many times. I waited till the afternoon and the smell was getting worse and worse. I called the gas company and they came in and they shut it off. I called American Home Shield and a guy came in. He looked at the oven and said it was a manufacturing defect and it was not covered. He did not even review nor look at anything. I fought it one whole week with American Home Shield.

I had to raise my voice and escalate in order for me to get a semi-decent service. It should not be that way. Some people are not as resilient as I am. I had to go to my account manager at American Home Shield and they assigned me a resolution guy who was great. I didn't have to stay on the phone for an hour and repeat myself 100 times. I would just write him an email and he would fulfill the request. He would investigate it.

The inspector went through everything. I had to give them a copy of the inspection report in order for them to know that it was not a defect that was there before. And even if it was there between my inspection and closing, it was almost 45 days. Anything could have happened. That's why sellers buy an insurance policy for the buyer and there's no waiting period.

American Home Shield ended up sending someone to fix the oven. But I went through pain and I spent time every single day on a call for almost an hour waiting and nothing happened. It wasn't until I went to my account manager who assigned me someone else did things get better. But now, that person is no longer there. I don't have a lot of big issues but I'm questioning the value. of my home warranty.

When American Home Shield was on my rental property, the AC was dripping so we called. They replaced a little part but it didn't do the job. I called an electrician myself and he gave me a diagnosis. That was when I told the tech to look at this, this, and that. They came out two times. The AC unit itself was shaking and it was the fan. They told my tenant to put a lock on it because they won't fix it until failed completely, which was dumb.

Some of American Home Shield's contractors are horrible. They had two good plumbers and the rest were garbage. There was this guy who came and disassembled the faucet then couldn't put it back together. He lost a cartridge that was inside the faucet. I could not use my vanity in the master bedroom for almost a month because American Home Shield ordered a cartridge but they could not get it. They wanted to replace the faucet but I said no. I wanted it to be identical because the whole house has the exact same faucet. If I replaced one in the master bedroom, I would have to replace the other one.

At that point, I told American Home Shield that I do not want anybody, except a particular guy, to come into my house. He came in and he finally fixed the problem. We end up taking a faucet from another bedroom and putting it in my master bedroom. American Home Shield brought me another faucet similar to it and I put it in the casita because it's outside the house. It won’t show that it's not the same as all the other faucets. American Home Shield could do a better job with their contractors.

Our furnace stopped working and AHS sent someone and they repaired it. They had to replace a part. Then, when spring came around, our AC wasn't working and I had to pay another $100. It was a quick visit and the tech said one wire wasn't connected. It was working the previous year so I can safely assume that the furnace guy disconnected the wire and didn't connect it back or accidentally disconnected it. I feel like I shouldn't have had to pay that because it was caused by the previous person and it's really hard to communicate that with AHS. That's my only complaint. But with our plumbing claim, Scott from Thomas Brothers Plumbing was excellent. He had to come back because something else happened but he got it cleared out. They should give Scott an award. We never get the kind of knowledge and service that he offers through a warranty.

They scheduled a time to come back and they were really great. A few months ago, when I first got the plan with AHS, I picked the most common one. But it might not have been the best plan for me. So, I was trying to figure out how to upgrade the plan. But there doesn't seem to be a link or anything that says to upgrade.

A couple of summers ago, my air went out and I thought I was gonna die. It was 80 in the house and it was a bajillion outside. The tech wasn't a young person in a hurry trying to treat old people badly. It was an older man. It was hot and he went up in that attic. He came back down sweating and said, "I know what it is.". He fixed the issue right away with no problem. It didn't take long at all and I've had air ever since.

Recently, my dryer was crazy. The tech said, "How'd this hole get in the top?" I said, "I don't know." So then, when he lifted the top up, the drum had actually rubbed the metal of the top of the dryer down to paper-thin. It looked like somebody had put a piece of tape over it and painted over the tape. He took a picture and said that he has never seen that before. The heating element had gone out and I was drying on air for a month. He called American Home Shield and said that the dryer was not repairable. In a couple of weeks, I had a new dryer.

I absolutely love and appreciate my American Home Shield. When I call, there's always somebody who's ready to help. I don't feel like I'm getting on their nerves. They're ready to help and that is awesome. I don't know what I would have done without them these last few years.

Every year, since they've repaired it, I've been having little issues. All of a sudden it would just go out in the summer. I would call AHS and make a claim, and then they would come out and then they would fix it, and then everything is fine. The contractor is supposed to come out tomorrow to work on the dishwasher for the fourth time. I got the part in my house. They're supposed to install it tomorrow. They worked on my washing machine four times already. And they're supposed to come back to finish the job on that. And on my oven, they said they could come and take the panel out of it, send it off, and I have it repaired. And it would take 10 to 12 weeks before they could get it back. So, that means I would be without my oven through the holidays, and I would have my kitchen disfigured.

American Home Shield's advertising said that if they couldn't repair my appliances, they would replace them. I paid them all this time, I paid all this money, and I paid them every time they had to send someone out to do the same work over and over again. And now, my oven is broken. They told me all they could do for me is give me $250 because that's what a service repairman said would cost to fix it if they could find the parts. They said 10 to 12 weeks because they don't know when the part would come in, or if it could be repaired. Because they haven't seen it. And that $250 doesn't buy anything. I paid them more than $250 waiting on them to try and patch it up. That's what I'm displeased about.

We had a problem with the hot water heater and it was the same thing. So, I went on and repaired it. I put a brand new hot water heater in and called AHS. They said I had to call in and talk to them before. Can you imagine a woman living in a house with two kids and no hot water? It takes too long for them to send someone out and do a repair.

AHS sent three different people out here to work on my air conditioner. The first one came out. It wouldn't turn off. But my house was cool. When he left, it wouldn't run at all. My house was 90 degrees. I called them back and they said they would see me Saturday morning. Saturday evening at 4:30, they told me they would see me Monday or Tuesday. So, I called out a repairman to put it back like it was and I was cool until that time. They finally came in with another board and repaired it. That has only been a week. I don't know how long it's gonna run. I'm very displeased with all of this. I just can't wait to get caught up.

I used another company when I first bought the house. I bought the house for my daughter to live in. And it's three years, and it came with a company called Old Republic Home Protection. We had a major leak problem with the plumbing in the walls two months after they moved in. They said, “We can get someone out there in two weeks.” “Who's gonna pay the water bill and the damage to the walls?” They were horrible. That was a month-long process. They couldn't find anybody and had to cancel and get somebody. So when I took American Home Shield, I was a little nervous. But home warranty companies are really helpful. So I got them and I've used them twice now. And they're so responsive. It's just a different world from that other company. They seem so professional, right on it, I get my help in a timely way. So I appreciate them more because I have a contrast or a comparison to look at.

Filing claims has to be online. And for an older generation, it's a little more problematic. But it worked out fine. My problem is when turning something in online, they are very limited in their picklist. I can't say, “Leaking toilet.” They say, “Plumbing.” What should I pick? It would be better if I could even have a free narrative to just put in, this is what it is. But I know I've got to pick something in order for it to sign me. But that would be my only concern. You have six things wrong with your house when there could be a thousand things wrong. And I've got to decide, “Plumbing is going to be what I choose.”

The nice thing is the assigned plumber call. Then I can discuss the whole thing. I could have a slab leak or something huge, or a leaky toilet. They do call and get all the particulars. So I guess that that's how it's supposed to work. But it gave me some angst because I'm in there trying to think, “Oh, what do I pick? What do I pick?” But then the actual company that's going to service you call and they get it all. And they turned around really quick. So that was nice.

We had a leaking toilet. And we ran into a problem that the water had to be turned off in order to repair it. But the city that I live in had to come out and turn off the water. So that would throw the tech off because we would think, “Oh, great. You're gonna wait on the City.” That could be this afternoon, but I called them. And he called his boss and his boss said, “Give it 30 minutes at least. If they're not there, you'll have to go on.” Because that would put him behind all the other people waiting with me. Plumbing needs are so important.

Luckily, the City came. And in the meantime, I had to get back to work. So I left him there and asked him to call me if he ran into any trouble, or if he had to leave because the City didn't come. He called me within 30 minutes and said, “They got here, they turned the water off. It's all fixed.” But I had to call him back to have him turn the water on. He was so apologetic. It wasn't his problem. It's just our city. His name was Travis. He was so pleasant and professional, and fixed the problem. He even told me, once the water was turned on, a couple of things that I need to do to just clear the line. Very clear instructions, very nice that he and his boss both gave me the extra time for the City to get there. I will ask for them again when I use my home warranty.

Several times over the past few years, the contractors that would come out to fix the air conditioner would try to tell American Home Shield that the unit needed to be changed. Six years ago when the compressor went out, the unit was going on close to 20 years old, and American Home Shield didn’t wanna do it. So in the past five years, I've had nothing but issues with it every summer. The compressor gets changed, this gets changed, little things they changed with it. Doesn’t matter what the contractors would tell American Home Shield. That part has been frustrating.

Last year, I called somebody three times, maybe even four. It starts in the springtime when there are a couple of hot days where I have to start using the AC, and there's an issue with it, and have somebody come out. A month later, another issue, and have somebody come out. What gets me is because it's not within that 30 days. Every single time that I have to call somebody out for another problem with the unit, it's another service fee. Granted, we didn't have to pay the cost of the repair. But still, the fact that if I have to call in one summer, which is May, June, July, August and I've made three or four calls, which is almost once a month, that's $300 or $400 because my service fee is $100. I don't know if they're just doing it to get that service fee, but it's not right. Recently, the air conditioner was dead. The technician said it couldn't be fixed anymore. It's just too old and he can't do anything. The whole unit’s got to be replaced.

We're in the middle of the desert and the AC always goes out during the hottest time where there's some sort of heatwave. Being able to try to talk to somebody stateside to explain the situation that I have a 90 something year old father in the house and it needs to get fixed sooner than later is basically impossible. There's nothing on the website that says that I can contact somebody stateside. They avoid putting any information, phone number, address, or email to be able to email to so that they don't have to deal with it. They just push everything to their call centers in the Philippines and it's difficult to talk to somebody there. Then I don't know if they have the ability to talk to somebody stateside. That's frustrating as well.

Sometimes I'll put in a service request and they want to send somebody who's 30 minutes or further away. Since the contractor only comes up to where I live twice a week, they would tell me that they couldn‘t come to the house till next week. If I have a leak in the house in the kitchen, which I did last summer, or the AC is out, am I supposed to wait a whole week to go without those while I'm in the middle of the Mojave Desert during a heatwave with 110-plus temperatures? American Home Shield doesn't care. All they want is the money. In the beginning, it wasn't always like that.

Whenever I put in a request, American Home Shield gets somebody to come out pretty quickly. It's easy to put a request in the system and we get a response from the provider pretty quickly, and then the issue gets taken care of. Sometimes we have to pay more than I like. But it is a smooth process. We've liked all of the vendors except for one. We were having issues with our AC unit. It was working perfectly fine during the morning hours, but there were issues in the peak of the heat hours. We couldn't get the first vendor to come out during the peak hours. They only wanted to come out before it got really hot. We tried making an appointment with them several times. We finally circled back around American Home Shield and asked for another vendor and they got us one.

The second vendor was wonderful. They were easily able to come out in the afternoon, where the first vendor was not. The tech was able to explain to me what was going on. He talked to somebody that knows absolutely nothing about how an AC unit works, to the point where I think I understood what he was saying the issue was. He fixed it and went on his merry way.

I had an issue with the oven range and Green Wire Bay Area came out. The first time, the guy couldn't fix it because it needed some parts. He came back the second time after a few days and some of it was fixed. Then he discovered a few more things that needed to be ordered. He would come back when he gets the parts, but he didn't, so I called. I talked to the manager who thought that the job was done, but it wasn't. The thing is not fully fixed. Internally, it sounded like they were not communicating or not keeping good records because this guy didn't know what the other one told me when he was here. They know their job and they can be very good, but they need to be a little bit organized. Now the repair guy sent me a text saying he still needed to call AHS to reopen the job so that he could order the part.

Then I had some minor electrical work that needed to be done and the electrical company that was sent did the job nicely. I also had a claim for the plumbing and the plumber came and looked at it. He said that it was gardening, and gardening is not covered. I didn't agree that it was gardening as this was not a sprinkler system or hose. It's a tap water. The plumbing is connected to that to get water from it. He also thought that since it's outside the main home, it belongs to the city. But it's in the driveway in front of the house, which is part of the property. That was not, in my view, accurate either.

I asked him how much it would cost if I wanted to do it myself without insurance. He told me that it would be a couple of hundred dollars and then he would send me some estimate that same day, but he didn't, so he wasn't reliable. I wasn't also convinced that it was not covered. He didn't do anything and left. Nonetheless, American Home Shield cares. They just need to be a little more in touch with these repair places they introduce to make sure these places do the job or what they are saying is accurate. Some of them are excellent. Some of them are in the middle or may be lower than that.

I've had trouble in the past where American Home Shield didn't want to cover an item, or it would be days before they could get to it. I don't live in the unit that is covered by them, I rent it out, so the tenants can't always afford to wait days before something is fixed. Then sometimes, I wasn't pleased with their vendors. Things would break again and then they would say that that's another $75 fee because it's been over the 30-day warranty period. Also, the service fee used to be $50, and then it went up to $75. I was pretty unhappy. For a short period of time, I resorted to another one of the warranty companies, and they were even worse, so I went back to American Home Shield.

The last time I used American Home Shield, they were out of the ordinary nice. They called me as soon as they got my service request, which I created online. My service request was sent over to a vendor within the first 30 minutes. The vendor called me 30 minutes after that and they were able to fit me into their schedule. Then the service guy called me to tell me he was on his way and gave me an ETA, so I was able to have somebody meet him out there. They called me back, said what they found, what the problem was. I was like, "Am I talking to American Home Shield?" I was pleased with them for the first time in a long time and I've probably had them over 10 years.

He came out with a part of the plug that should have been taken out that was supposed to be between the dishwasher and the disposal. This little puncher plug didn't either punch it out fully or something was with it. I told him that I put my hand down there and I didn't find it. That Friday night when the unit first went out I said, “Well, if I do Friday, it could be at least 24 hours to 48 hour for someone to get in touch with me.” While I was in New York, the only thing that ticked me off was I kept getting the recording. But I kept asking for customer service. And it didn't want to do that. When I called back, it did the recording, it placed the order, but I didn't want to use it on the card on file. So, I called back the third time to get a customer service, which I finally got one. That was when the lady set me up, took the card that I want the money to come out for to pay for the service. And Sunday, I got a text and the text told me they would get back in touch with me to let me know that the serviceman would come out.

I got a phone call as soon as I got in the car to the airport. And when I talked to the lady at A-US, she said I missed my appointment. I said I sent in a text that said to let me call them once I arrived in Dallas where I can go ahead and make an appointment. That was when she made the first appointment. It was Tuesday. So, the tech came Tuesday morning, took the machine. And Wednesday, he said he would come and do. But I asked him to come Thursday because I had to go to work. And that was when he came back. I made arrangements for Thursday for somebody to watch my dad so he could come back and put the machine back in. Wednesday is when the machine stopped, then I placed the order Thursday, which was yesterday.

The tech was good. He took the thing and said that it probably needed a part. He said, “I’d get back in touch with you when the thing is ready,” which came a day after. He came back, plugged it back up, and that was it. He left and I didn't have any problem until the day it showed back out which was three days later. I called AHS yesterday and the same people came back out there to see what was wrong with the air conditioning. I thought it was the same person. It was another guy today. I got on the phone and told him what happened and he said he would take care of it, and that was it. My son said he asked for his email. He said he was supposed to call me to let me know what the situation was, which I never received a text.

Whatever the situation that I had AHS, between my washer and dryer, and air condition, everything was perfect. Because at the end of the day, I call AHS to solve the problem. I knew that that’s AHS' thing. That's what I pay them for since they are the insurance. They are the ones that know how to handle the contractors. Since they are the insurance and they are the one that does the claims, I accept the situation. But if I have a problem or issue, I would be the one that has to call AHS and talk to them because they are the people that I have to talk to about whatever the issues or problem that I'm having with my appliance. I'm trying to get my daughter when she moved in her house to insure her appliances. Save her money, time, and stress. AHS has been excellent all the way around.

Within a day, they arranged a local person and it was very quick. I did not expect that. If I had known that, I would have done this long ago. My bathroom was bad for more than a month. The person who came was from Keilly's Plumbing and he was great. In under 30 minutes, he fixed the problem. He put a small equipment in and that was it. Everything is done and I'm so happy. The person also called back and made sure everything is okay.

I've been telling to a couple of people that it's better to take this insurance with Americna Home Shield. There are two winning factors here. He went up to fix the toilet and said that we had hard water here. He shook the handle and left. I replaced the insides of the toilet myself and didn't let him look under the sink. The first time the vendor came out, they said that we were out of Freon, and the guy pumped it full of Freon. We were good for a week. Then the next week, half of the Freon was gone. A different company came out the second time which identified a leak outside and fixed it. I wish it was caught on the first trip. But then these people came out quickly and it was done fast so that was a good experience.

However, we were not happy with our claim on our water heater. It went out on a Monday and we called AHS on Tuesday. The company came out on Thursday and said that the heating element is gone, the system is old, and we need a new one. We need a pressure relief valve because there's too much water pressure coming in. They said they could be out on Monday. Then AHS kept telling us that they've ordered it and told us the date. I don't call and complain and ask for supervisors, but at this point, after two weeks of not having hot water, we were fed up.

Finally, the plumbing company that was going to do the work said that they have issues with home warranty companies all the time doing this so they'll just give us one of their water heaters and take what AHS gets whenever it comes in. When I called AHS, they could not tell me if it was ordered or if it wasn't ordered. They told my husband one thing. They turned around and told me something else. They couldn't give us a date. They said that they would get back to us and never did. I was on hold for 20 minutes for a supervisor, and then they hung up on me. There was no communication. We didn't know if we were going to be without hot water for two months. It had already been two weeks. It was very aggravating.

Then we didn't know if we have a choice of what company to use and that was our concern when we were dealing with the water heater because it was taking so long. We started looking up the plumbers' qualifications and their complaints and they weren't great. But then again, everybody has complaints. At that point, it was not the plumbers’ fault. It's the home warranty people. It was not a good experience and it almost made us not want to go with American Home Shield.

My AC went out, and we called American Home Shield. They sent the AC people out who said there was no power to the unit. They left then I had to call American Home Shield again. They sent 3H out for it. The line was buried underground, and they said American Home Shield won't do anything with underground buried line. I had no idea that they don't do underground wiring. I did the electrical myself and got power to the AC unit so that American Home Shield can have the AC guys come back out and give me AC. It cost me an extra $156 on top of calling the home warranty company out twice. That's $356 that it cost me to get this fixed.

The amount of time that it takes to get the scheduling done can be improved as well. My wife works from home, and we were a solid two weeks without any AC during the hottest part of the month. It was very miserable. I developed a head cold because we were sleeping with the windows open and fans on at nighttime, and I had poison ivy at the same time as well. I know it can't be helped though. Different companies have different businesses and schedules and they've already got people on their schedules. Apart from that, all of the technicians that the warranty company has sent out seem to be up and up. They're all very smart, informative and cordial.

When my husband purchased the policy, he was sold it would cover all of the built-in appliances in the house. But not everything was covered. We have a built-in under-the-counter ice maker and that was not functioning. We were told by other people that should be covered under our policy. But when we put in a claim to get it repaired, we couldn’t get it repaired. This ice maker is not an essential item in the house and we are working without it. But things like that are frustrating.

The house also has 250-gallon water heaters and they are plugged in parallel. One of them blew and we really had a hard time with the repair person that was sent out to do the work. Some of the repair people we had were great. But this person had a huge attitude problem and he was going to charge us as much to move the first water heater to replace the second water heater as the replacing of the whole water heater. We ended up back and forth until we were finally told that there was a cashout option. We got that and we had our own plumber do the installation. We paid for it out of pocket.

We also have two different air conditioning units. Last summer, the first air conditioner went bad. The service people that came out were really great. The units are older so it has the old coolant that is so incredibly expensive per pound. It was over $100 a pound. He said they were gonna have to charge the whole unit and I was gonna have to pay for all that. When that goes bad, then the home warranty would cover fixing that. We went through all that with them. They at least explained the process of what we were going to have to go through in order to get the repair done. It didn't feel like we had to argue with them. They were reasonable to work with, unlike the water heater guy who may have been frustrated and took it out on us.

This last summer, our second air conditioner went out. The technician, again, explained the same process. The refrigerant is getting very scarce to find and very expensive. Last year, it was $100 a pound. It’s currently $165 a pound this year. The tech expected it to be over $200 a pound after September 1st. But we were able to put in the call right before the price increase.

The main reason we took out the policy was because of the age of the mechanicals. American Home Shield has saved us money. But I have to gear myself up to make a claim when something goes out. I don't know what hoops lay ahead of me to get the repair done because there is no clear process of hoops and it's not a consistent process of hoops. That aside, there are parts of the process that are working.

American Home Shield has been very good. We've had three items that needed servicing over the past year since we bought the place. The only thing is the service people that are assigned to us tend to show up at the very tail end of the window. If they were going to be here between 12:00 and 5:00, they showed up at 5:05. But that's okay because we're retired and we get every day off, so it's not really an inconvenience. The service has been all very good and we're quite satisfied. It's well worth the money. Having to be able to work with Home Shield and having them take on that responsibility of assigning contractors to us is a great convenience, in addition to the good work that these guys have done.

The water was coming back into the house from the unit. I called AHS and the rep told me that we needed to get it taken care of right away because we didn't want damage done to my home. And by the end of the day, somebody was calling me to come the next day. Their service was great. They had to blow it out and put bleach in it. Then they had to run something in it and they replaced a little part in it. Since then, everything's been fine. I've been checking it and there's no water. Now, I'm not worried about the water and continuously putting towels in. So the service has taken the burden off of me worrying that it's going to damage the floor or the walls and it's made things a lot easier.

I also had an experience on my son's house where I also have AHS and the claim was really taken care of. I've suggested AHS to several people, too. I'm hoping I don't have to do a claim again, but at least I know I'm protected. Hopefully, if anything goes wrong, they will take care of what they done this time efficiently as they did the last time.

American Home Shield's claim process needs work. We submitted a claim back in March for a boiler that wasn't working. One of the buttons on the stove wasn’t functioning properly. It took us a long time to get to this point where the boiler was repaired. One time, a guy came out and he worked on something and he couldn't fix it. He had to order parts. Somehow that claim was closed and he didn't complete the repair. That was an issue. That part of the process could be a little faster. The boiler finally got repaired. When the tech came out to work on the boiler, all the parts were here and he was able to complete the work. Everything is working fine at this point.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling and my wife called American Home Shield. We had someone else come a year ago and I thought we would have those guys come back. But they weren't selected by AHS. They had Lane Services come over. They came once and they tried to do a technique that would be less expensive and time consuming. It ended up it wasn't effective, so they came back out and replaced a larger component there was under the manufacturer warranty. They were very prompt and worked fast. Everything has been working great now and the repair has made a big difference. It’d be cool enough. We have very young babies, so we don't want it to get too hot.

When the air conditioner was not working, it was burning our electricity. So we’ll probably have a huge bill next month based on that. But the day that it was fixed, the electricity has gone back to normal. So we’re much happier. It’s not wasting all the electricity. We had to call AHS on some appliance issues as well as the air conditioning, and it has worked out well. I’d recommend AHS. Unless people are handy and they can fix everything, there's probably gonna be a time when something big like the air conditioner won't work and they’d want the coverage.

Complete Air recently came out and fixed our AC. But after they left, we started hearing when the fan motor would come on. The new motor that they put on was making a strange noise so I walked out to look at it. I took a video of it, but it wasn't giving me the audio that I wanted to send to American Home Shield. There are wires sticking out of the top of the AC unit outside that any kids could come along and pull or get ahold of. Even though they've got wingnuts on them to tie them off together, I didn't want to leave those wires out of the top of the unit where they could be accessed by someone inappropriately. I'm also concerned about the noise that the fan motor is now making.

I first contacted Complete Air and they said that they would have to have a new work order ticket. I told them that it was the same matter. But they said they've closed out the ticket and so American Home Shield will have to provide a new work order. I tried to call American Home Shield, but unfortunately, I was on hold for some time. I had another call to take so I haven't had a chance to do that yet.

I also don't like the AHS claim process for the most part. The last one was okay. The problem that I've had in the past is they've overcharged me with the bathtub issue I had with a faucet. They spent months and months, wasted my time, and never fixed it. They charged me at least twice, if not three times, to have people come out say, "We were just out here to assess." Then they went back and rescheduled another appointment to the point that I had to have another plumber fix it myself at my own expense. I was not very happy with it. But my experience on this recent claim was pretty good, up to the issue of having a fan motor noise and the wires. I would like to see AHS take care of it.

I called in a claim for two refrigerators. The one in the garage wasn't cooling on the refrigerator side but the freezer was cold. Then the main refrigerator in the kitchen completely stopped working and before it did that, it had issues with the ice maker. the first contractor came and they figured that there was a part that was bad on the refrigerator in the garage and I happened to have a spare part on top of the refrigerator because I was googling it and I purchased the part. But since we had insurance, I didn't want to touch it. They ended up using my part and the refrigerator worked. They then said they would ship me the part back. When they looked at the refrigerator in my kitchen, they declined the repair on that because they didn't have the people that would repair the compressor on it. I went back to the insurance and they said they would send a different contractor.

The second contractor came and they had parts for the ice maker and fixed it, but again, they declined the repair on the compressor part. I asked them, “How do we know if it's gonna work if the refrigerator is not working, the freezer is not working?” So, they replaced parts and then they declined again the repair on the compressor. I went back to the insurance and asked them what's going on, if they could find somebody, or if they couldn't find one, would they replace the refrigerator. They said that they would send Accord Appliance to look at the compressor. I told them to put a note on there that if they couldn't fix it, they had to replace the unit because I was tired. It was my main refrigerator and we couldn't keep anything in there as it’d go bad.

The technician was sent out and he saw exactly what was going on. I have a Kenmore refrigerator, he explained how it had an LG compressor, and basically my refrigerator is an LG. He said that he'd put in the order to order the parts needed to repair the compressor or replace it. Sure enough, they ordered those. They came back out, did the repair, and it’s been working since.

Now, I noticed that the part that was replaced in the garage refrigerator is freezing a little too much on that side. I called the insurance back and explained that to them. Then I'm still waiting for my spare part. They said they couldn't do anything about it and they gave me the number of the first contractor and said that I have to call them and see where they're at with the part and talk to them about the repair that it’s still freezing. Even though they replaced the part, the refrigerator is still not working 100%.

The experience was frustrating because it was a lot of calling in for service and the phone call took a lot of waiting time to get somebody to answer, and not getting a straightforward answer. At first, I understood that the insurance would have to replace the whole refrigerator in the kitchen, if they couldn’t find anybody. But they kept sending people to try to fix it and still couldn't fix it. It was taking so long and we had to keep going to the garage to get food and we couldn't put so much in there because it was a hassle.

BAD. I was hoping that American Home Shield would cover things, but in my experience so far, it's been really hit or miss. I just used the warranty to get my AC repaired and it was like a whole debacle. They sent out their preferred first choice. The guy came and he tried swindling me. The air conditioner uses R22, which is expensive, and he was trying to charge me $280 per pound of it. I needed four pounds, so we were talking close to 1,000 bucks. He was adamant that that's what it was. I declined because I don't have $1,000.

I then started calling around to local AC people and they were blown away that the guy was trying to rip me off for an extra $200 per pound. I had people come out that afternoon and they charged me $80 per pound. When I called American Home Shield, the agents that I spoke with refused to believe me and said that it was my word versus him. My response was, “Why would I waste my like making this story up?” They didn't do anything. I had to pay that out of pocket.

Then I had to call American Home Shield back and had another AC guy come out for the capacitor that starts something in the furnace. This was a completely different company, as I told them that I did not want to have that same person come out. This person was absolutely wonderful and fixed the capacitor quickly. But it was hard to get to that point. It took two weeks to have anybody come out. He also inspected the furnace and AC and said that both are going to have major problems soon. My neighbors right next to me had the same thing. We have similar-style houses, and they had their warranty through American Home Shield, and they already discontinued because they had issues with a furnace claim. American Home Shield doesn't have my back at all. I hate this service warranty.

We've had American Home Shield for three years and while there are some exclusions and inclusions and things that haven't been covered or covered to what we would have hoped, still it’s been a worthwhile use. I'm enjoying it. We had a dishwasher issue that ended up not being fixable. We did the cash-out option so they covered a certain amount towards a new one. We've had a couple of issues with a refrigerator that would have been remediated more inexpensively than replacing it or having a service company come out and fix it so that's been useful. There are plumbing-related items that have helped. The overlying or overarching issues with things that haven't been covered are just items that are more of a maintenance issue rather than a breakdown of the particular mechanism.

We've also had a heat pump issue and they sent out a company that effectively said it’s gonna be cheaper to replace. That particular provider was helpful in working through American Home Shield, through their partnership, and working with us to develop a new solution to provide heating and cooling on one side of our house. It’s the second time they've been out and in this new issue, they did an excellent job. They are very available in terms of having techs come out and are really good at problem resolution. The new virtual diagnosis is better than what was in the past where they would actually send someone out, they would diagnose it, and then it would take a week or two for them to get the part and to fix it. They were fully prepared to fix the issue that we had with our freezer this time.

My dishwasher was leaking, and it wouldn't work. I went online to American Home Shield and requested service. That's easy, but no one ever calls me and says who they're gonna send. I can't even wait for that 'cause I know no one's gonna call. People need to take it upon themselves to do their own calls and their own footwork because they'll be waiting a lot. The longer they wait for somebody to call them, that's a delay in the service to get their stuff fixed.

When I put in the service, it all depends on what time of day I put it in. The next day, I will call American Home Shield to see who I'm going to be contracted to. I get the number and call the people myself to set something up to save time. Also, I pay $75 for people to come out and everybody's blamed everything on COVID, COVID, COVID. It can take anywhere from 7 to 10 days when something is contracted out for somebody to come.

My air conditioning unit needed to be replaced. It wasn't working. Healthy Duct Cleaning came out and replaced everything. Now there's a leak in the brand-new unit, and I've called them to come back and repair it under warranty. I spent $10,000 on this system, and it’s leaking again. American Home Shield's claim process is pretty easy. I just wish they would have covered more on the air conditioning. The coverage PDF said ductwork was covered. They didn't cover any of that. I had no choice. I had to get it done. So, I had to pay out of my pocket, and that's a little disappointing. I don't know why they put that in there when they don't cover it. I also had a hot water heater leak, and they only replaced a portion of that, too. So, it sounds like they don't replace the full amount of what's broken. I don't know how they come up with the dollar amount they do replace. I have no idea. They won't tell me.

Filing a claim with American Home Shield is rigorous. It's like making a doctor's appointment. Sometimes you can get someone to come out but sometimes you have to wait a while. When I had a problem with my oven, I called and American Home Shield sent out a person. They wanted me to wait a few days so my daughter called back and asked if we could get someone sooner. They did send someone out sooner but unfortunately, I had this same repairman again and he was not capable of doing anything. I had a bad experience with him prior to this, about the year before. It took him about six months before he would respond to my calls. It ended I had to get a new stovetop. When he came in to check my oven, he didn't even take out one tool to measure the heat of it. He just looked at it, said it was okay and left.

I had another guy come for my refrigerator. He was ready to walk out because he didn't know what he was doing. I told him, "If you go on YouTube, this is the procedure they do.” He stayed and did make an adjustment on it but it's still not fixed. Then I had another item that the handle broke off the refrigerator. He sent out a part but it was not the same make of the refrigerator. It's not been a good situation and we're going to cancel American Home Shield.

For the past three services I've needed, there's been a lot of miscommunication. I've had, unfortunately, very dire situations where I needed immediate service. I insisted on AHS trying to find a contractor to service me the same day. One time, they booked it for the next day. I said, “That's not good enough. I need to find somebody today. What can we do?” All they did was cancel the service they had scheduled for the next day and never found anyone for the current day. So now, there was no service at all.

If I hadn't called back to verify, that's how it would have been left and that happened twice. The second time, where I've got my water heater broke and my garage was flooding, they said, “We can try to find you somebody for today.” I said, “Okay, that's perfect.” They found somebody that could come six to eight hours later. I said, “I'm going to be in a really bad spot in eight hours. We need to find somebody that's more accessible to come sooner.” Again, all they did was cancel the one for six to eight hours later and never found me a replacement. I was so frustrated. I was calling 20 contractors, asking them if they were AHS's providers. Then I was gonna call back and say, “I found somebody that can service me today if you guys open up a ticket.” I shouldn't have to do that.

They should have at least left the original service until they found somebody else that could come in the meantime. Both times, they didn't. If I hadn't called back to verify, because usually, I get the emails and the text to back it up, I would have had no service on both communications. I know that the people are in the Philippines. This has nothing against the countries or race or backgrounds, but I've had the communication with who I'm speaking to and they were not understanding fully what I was saying or what I needed. And I was suffering in the meantime.

I asked to speak to a supervisor, there weren't available. I've tried to call, find a corporate number, there wasn't one. So there was nobody to speak to other than these customer services representatives if you need something escalated, at all. I've never seen that with a company and organization for anything that I've dealt with. I'm very frustrated and I'm scared to ever use AHS again. I've got three homes and I'm considering not renewing all three of them because of how the service is and how the service calls are made and the miscommunication and the lack of escalation.

That happened with the electrician but the electrician was very knowledgeable and very thorough. They've also charged me the fee for a plumber to come out. They said when I’d get the plumber on a particular day but I wasn't available so I didn't make the appointment. I'm gonna call again and make the appointment and hopefully, AHS wouldn't charge me again, although they said they won't. I don't think I should have to pay before the actual work is done. I'm not accustomed to having to pay for a service that I haven’t received.

I submitted claims for an appliance repair, an electrical repair, and a plumbing repair. The electrical repair was great and the guy was very respectful and quick. He communicated through the entire process. He repaired two attic fans and then talked to me about a few other issues that weren't covered by the home warranty. With the plumbing claim, I gave the plumber a bunch of issues. I showed him the faucets that were above the foundation, under the roof, and inside the structural wall as my warranty dictates. He said on the phone, before I even talked to him about things, that he doesn't know if that's gonna be covered and the only thing that might be covered is the showerhead. He immediately said that he wasn't going to be able to get anything done. Then, he showed up and he didn't have anything that distinguished him as a plumber on his vehicle.

Of all the issues that I had, he decided to correct the most simple one and he didn’t even do that job correctly. I had a leaking showerhead because there’s no diverter and he didn’t replace the cutoff. He replaced just the showerhead so it’s still leaking. I called and had to sit on hold for a very long time to speak with some girl who barely speaks English. I explained it three or four times so that she could say she would call me back. She called me back an hour later to tell me that another technician was going to come out. That guy came out yesterday and he was a real professional. He was straightforward and didn't automatically say that none of that's going to be covered. He said he would submit the report but he has a high workload and to give his shop a call if I don't hear from him today.

For the appliance repair, the contractor came out and it took a while for them to get scheduled. All the other guys had already come out, even though they're all scheduled at the same time. The work was completed with the electrician before the appliance repair came. They came out, looked at the stove, and said they were gonna order some parts. It's been four days and I haven't heard from them since.

Also, the contract terms and the contract agreement don't match. Mine says that any pre-existing condition is covered. It doesn't talk about limitations or anything like that. But when you get the contract from AHS after it’s enacted, that statement is no longer listed on your coverage and it then becomes that not everything is covered. For example, they'll only pay to replace part of the faucets that are under my roof above my foundation, in the structural wall, and I have to pay $350 per faucet to replace the rest of it according to the plumber that showed up yesterday.

Recently, we've been having some issues with the dryer not drying on one load. It'll take a couple of cycles for it to actually go. Previously, we got a water dispenser fixed from the fridge, and then, we also got our keys rekeyed, and it all went well. American Home Shield follows through with everything. The first tech from Rocket Repair came out and assessed the problem with the refrigerator. I was told that it went out the first time because of a compressor. Then, it had stopped and the second guy put Freon in it. He told me to let it sit for 24 hours. I put a bottle of water in the refrigerator and see if would it freeze. If it froze, the problem was going to be solved. But the next day, it wasn't frozen and the temperature went back to 80. So, I called and told him that the repair didn't work and he said that there was nothing that could be done with the refrigerator because there is a leak somewhere in the hose. So, he assessed the problem and forwarded it to American Home Shield. But I haven't gotten a response back yet. I keep calling every day, but they’re saying that my claim is still in queue and to call back in 24 to 48 hours. So it's been longer than that.

AHS should speed up the process. At the moment, I don't know whether or not they're going to give me a new refrigerator. They say it’s backordered, but so far, I’m without a refrigerator for about a week now. Despite that, this is the only problem I've had with AHS. I've had other issues with stoves and the first time with the refrigerator, they sent someone out in a timely manner.

He said it wasn't the AC unit but he came out and looked at it anyway. It ended up being the AC unit. I showed him where it was leaking. We went downstairs to look at both the hot water heater and the furnace. He cleaned out the pan because the pan was also bad. Then we went outside and looked at it. We saw the little tube and disconnected it. He blew it out then we put it back together. He tested it two more times to make sure that it was working properly.

I'm really satisfied. As far as American Home Shield, I'd spoken to a couple people, and they've been very helpful. The other times, I'd gone online and filled out a request. I had a claim for the refrigerator and it was fixed. The contractor was great. They came out when they could and they fixed the problem the same day.

AHS is pretty straightforward. They let you know the issue and you can submit the claim online, yourself. I had an AC issue recently. It was leaking from the attic and the ceiling, and then, the techs came and fixed the leak. It was leaking was because the drain pan was cracked, so that was why the pan wasn't holding it. They told me I had to replace the pan, replaced the pan, and then it fixed the leak.

AHS had Arizona Sunrise Lock and Key come out for a rekey and the process was very easy, although it took a little longer than I thought it should have for them to come out. It took a couple of days and for a rekey, I thought it would be immediate.

I like American Home Shield's service a lot. I like the punctuality whenever I make a request. They would send somebody right away. The coverage is pretty good too. I used the home warranty when some water was leaking from the vent of the air conditioner. Service people came to fix that and they were good.

I needed to get somebody out here quick because my toilets were overflowing, and I wanted to find out how things worked. I called one day, and some man that spoke with a deep accent, like from India, answered. I told him that I wanted to see if I can get something on how it works so I can get one of my toilets fixed. He said, “Oh, no. I looked. No, you don't have nothing like that on your policy.” I said, “What are you talking about? I pay the 69 something for it. I see it here on my policy that I do have it, and I have refrigerator, everything on it.” “Oh, no, I don't see that. What I can do, though, because I'm a manager, I can change it.” I said, “What do you mean you're going to change it?” He said, “I can upgrade it, and then you can pay again.”

I said, “No, they take it out of my account every month. I'm not paying for another month to change it. I see it here. I downloaded it from my computer when they sent it to me. And it says I have it.” “Well, no, I can do it.” He insisted on changing it and me paying and giving my credit card. I said, “No, I'm not giving you my credit card. It should be there. You shouldn't have to take it out of my account again.” This went on for 20 minutes. He kept going on, and on about it, and I said, “Well, then you look it up and see what my account number is.” He said, “Well, oh no, I don't need to look up.” He didn't have it, so I said, “Okay, you know what? I think you're scamming me. Because you should know.” He should be able to have access to all my information.

He asked me a lot of things, and I was going along with it because I wanted to see if he can find out for me, which he was unable to. I said, “No, you know what? I'll call later.” All he wanted was my credit card, and I didn't want to give it to him. I hung up then all of a sudden, I got a callback from some number and it was him again. I could tell with the voice. It was the same. I said, “What are you calling me back for? I said I would call you back.” He said, “Oh no, I tell you. I can give you what you want, but you have to pay.” I said, “No I shouldn't have to pay. That is not my fault if it's not there. But I know it's there because I just downloaded what I can use it on.” He was very persistent.

I hung up again and he called again on a different number. I said, “Okay, who is this?” My son got on the phone and told him, “You know what? My mother said she will call back when she's ready. Stop bugging her.” He kept yelling, “No, no, no,” then I said, “Okay, this has gone far enough.” I called and got a hold of a lady that said that she was from this place. She had an accent, too. I also heard chickens in the background, then I said, “Are you working from home?” She said, “Yeah, we're working from home.” I said, “Okay, well, can you help me, then? I was talking to someone, but I'm not getting through to him.” I said, “Obviously, he didn't know my account number or anything.” She did.

This lady brought up my account, and she knew exactly what was covered. She went over it with me, and what I had downloaded from the computer was right. I said, “Okay, so what do we got to do?” She said, “You just pay the $100 and we will send someone over. It might not be today, but it might be tomorrow.” I was skeptical already by this time because I already had gotten calls from this other man, but she was legit because she made it happen. We got somebody out here to check out the toilet. It's just difficult when you don't know how it works, and I didn't, but now I do. Hopefully, I didn't get re-billed.

I got another phone call from this gentleman from a different number. Every number that he called from, I called back and it said I couldn't get through. I said, “Okay, what does this man want?” He called from various phone numbers, and he kept calling and calling. I said, “You know what? This is wrong. This is not right.” This guy did not sound like he was in the best interest of me, and he didn't know anything about my account. If he works for American Home Shield, and a manager, why? He also said his name was something Jones. Jones? Really? I worked with a lot of people from India. Their names are not Jones. I didn't tell him that I'd already gotten it all done.

I played along with it because I wanted to see what he was going to do. I said, “Why are you calling me?” “I’ll make it good, give me your credit card number.” I said, “You know what? You need to stop bothering me. Stop calling me,” so I hung up. Two days now, I haven't gotten a call. Maybe he got the hint. I don't know if he really works for American Home Shield or he broke into the line, but he didn't sound like he was working for Home Shield. That was weird. My son said, “Mom, you need to call the people.” “I don't think I can even get ahold of anybody to tell anything about,” I said. I called the lady and she was working from home, and I told her, “I need to report something.” She said, “Just call back this number.” I thought, “Oh, God. No. I'm gonna probably get the same person.”

The man kept calling me and harassing me, and his name was different every time too. I don't know if that's a sign that somebody is hacking the phone calls. My son said, “If he does it again, then we can call and then report it.” I said, “Yeah, but it's from Home Shield. And that's what he was saying he was.” However, my son said somebody hacking the phone calls could be done. I said, “Yeah, but why Home Shield?” “He wants your credit card, mom.” I said, “Yeah, but they should have all that already. I already gave it to them.”

When the repair company came out to check the toilet, I wanted them to snake the tub also. I didn't tell American Home Shield about the tub, so the guy couldn't do it. Only the toilet, and he did it, but then he told me, “Well, you probably need a new toilet because it's old. It's one of the older ones. But that's going to take a lot of work." "Hey, if it's going to take a lot of work, let's get it done now ‘cause I'm going to need it. It's going to cause me problems.” He said I had to call back and make another request for that. All this for this? I said, “Why can't you just tell me what you think I need to get done so I can get it done?”

I said, “So, I have to wait again, and put another order in, and go ahead and spend another $100 for you to come out and tell me, ‘Okay, well, we'll do this?’” It was not fixing anything. They can snake the thing, but if it's not working properly, then something is wrong. He wasn't able to do anything but just look at the toilet and make it flush. I wasn't happy with that. I rather had known that I needed to get all this stuff done and get it done. It was not a good experience at all.

The AC was working but it was making noise. The technician replaced one part, but the noise was still there. I asked him to check my fan inside and he didn't do that, although it seemed it was working okay. The AC's running the same and it’s not making as much noise as it was before. Home Shield is good. I don't have to go on the internet and call somebody. They right away make the appointment and do the stuff.

The washing machine was coming apart. There were plastic pieces showing up in the laundry. We had it looked a couple of years ago and a new part was put it. But it just got worse and it finally gave out. AHS ended up replacing it. But a complaint I had was one of the people I talked to gave me a lead time and then I got an email follow up and the lead time went from being five to seven days to being two to three weeks. I called back to try to get some clarification on that and it was like they weren't quite getting what I was saying. But that was just my concern. I wasn't quite getting the information I thought I needed but it still worked out so it was all good in the end.

I've had AHS for over 20 years. I love it because it's fewer headaches, going through AHS. They have the contractors that meet your needs, get them fulfilled, and get things, what’s broken or needed to be fixed as soon as possible. I had a broken dryer door recently. The tech that came was on time. He did an excellent job. He tightened it up. The door was already off. He screwed it and put new nails in.

American Home Shield's service is fine. But when it comes to certain things, like the cost for the $100 service fee, it could be cheaper. When we had the garage serviced and we found out that it was just a prong that was poked in, that was not $100. It was just a matter of us unplugging the garage system and pulling the prongs out. The service fee should be reevaluated depending on what the service was provided. But the contractors with American Home Shield have been pretty honest as far as what we can see with diagnosing what the problems were.

We recently had a service where we had the contractor come out for the air conditioning. We have a 26-year-old system and since it's an older unit, the Freon that goes in there is not really available, where you have to pay so much more for it because it's not a common Freon anymore. So we had to pay almost $600 to get that. I understand replacing parts is sometimes cheaper. But we get that fixed and then something else goes wrong where we’re out of the $600 that we wasted for Freon that you can't even really buy anymore. American Home Shield should be doing what really makes sense for the end result for the company and the customer.

The guy came out the first time and he said that the motor had gone out in the fan. So, he did something with that. But a few days later, hot air was coming out at first and then, I couldn’t turn the thing off. It would run and run. I started making my calls and Beaches Air Conditioning on the second go-around, finally told me to shut it off outside and that they would be here that following week. The techs seemed okay and they were great with the attitudes. But everything is good and my AC is fixed now. It’s working good and I haven’t had any problems since that day. I have had a problem in the past with American Home Shield but I got my money back so, I’m not angry about any of the stuff that happened.

AHS has been very good, so far, and they have a good response time. When the first company was two weeks out, they got a different company for me right away. And the tech came the next day. He was amazing. Took care of it, said it would be two weeks to get the part in, and somehow, he got the part the next day and came that next day to do the installation.
