    1 Source is awesome. Their customer service is doing good work and if something’s going on, you could call them and they'll come back out. They let you know when the part is ordered or if there’s something that they don't have. They’re on a couple of my rental properties and they're professional. American Home Shield saves me time assigning somebody as well a lot of times. They could just stretch out some of the coverage that needs to be done. It’d be unfortunate sometimes that they don't cover certain things. Also, calling the customer back, it’s hard getting ahold of them and if you need some time, they don't answer. When you have to get your own person to come out and do the work, as far as going in and getting their process done, they're giving you your money back, they don't do a good job of approving that. They gotta improve on that. Other than that, it’s okay.

    In the past, when I submit a claim, I might be on hold for 15 minutes. This time, I was not. Within a few minutes, I was able to get a live person and tell them what my issues were. The issue I have however is when I have multiple issues, if the reps tell me to go on the website to submit the claim, I cannot do that. I always need to speak to a live person.

    The plumber fixed my bathroom faucet. He asked me if I had any other problems regarding that and I said, "No". He also told me what I need to do if the problem occurs in the future. I appreciated that and told him, "Thank you." I have American Home Shield on three of my properties and I've been with them 20 years. They've been responsive every time I've called. That's why I'm consistently with them.

    I had troubles with my online account when requesting for service with American Home Shield. It asked for passwords and I put in what I though it was, and it was not. It would ask if I wanna change it and I go yes. But you have to get into your account to change it. So it's a circular reference. So, I just call and it’s easier that way for me. The tech said I didn’t need to fix my problem. He tweaked something and I appreciate that versus trying to upsell me on something I don’t need. Also, he was here first thing at 8 o’clock in the morning, so that was huge. If AHS brought prices down, it’d be better.

    American Home Shield has been great. We've used it several times and they've been pretty prompt. The follow-through has been good. We got back from our trip and our house was 88 degrees. The fan of the unit outside wasn't spinning. We scheduled the claim 1:00 on Monday morning and the techs were out by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The tech replaced the fan motor and had the unit up and going.

    We wanted to save a lot of the hassle of trying to figure out what's the issue is. The plan I'm set up on is a $100 deductible. I pay that and the techs check my problem out and fix everything. I don't have to worry about extra costs. It doesn't matter if it was a $100 or $1,000 repair. I've paid my 100 and everything else is covered. It makes budgeting easier 'cause I know I have the monthly cost of the warranty and then just have some set aside for the deductible. I've recommended AHS to several people especially somebody who's looking at buying homes that may be a little older or someone who's not very handy at fixing things or even knowing what's going on.

    My toilet was leaking at the bottom and my carpet was wet. The contractor came and they had to take the toilet out and put a new toilet in. It's good now. The claim process was easy to me. It was just the long line. It was so much wasted time. Nobody wanted to talk. I know there were a lot of people that were calling, but I was on the phone for about 45 minutes before somebody came on there. Other than that, I like American Home Shield. I've had a problem with a contractor, but not with Home Shield. They took care of it and sent somebody else out. So I was good. They back up what they tell you.

    I called Wednesday and American Home Shield said that the services would be completed on Friday, but I haven't heard anything. I called today and left a message asking when the part would be delivered and when the contractor would come out to repair the HVAC. I didn't receive any at the close of business today. I was very disappointed with the first contractor. This HVAC is awful. This has not been a good experience. But I've had three other contractors that were fine.

    I was having difficulty with the hot water heater. Water was getting colder faster than it normally does. Cesar from JED Plumbing & Gas came up to check it for me and he was very helpful. He didn't find anything wrong with the water heater per se but told me about some maintenance tips and things that I should be doing all along. He was very friendly and very professional. I keep recommending AHS to all my relatives and people. I had the dishwasher completely go out and I had refrigerator repairs. For 100 bucks, they work on things and if they can't fix it, they replace it. I’m gonna stick with AHS. I’m a single homeowner and some of these are things I can't do myself.     It's fairly easy submitting my claims to American Home Shield. I like to do it over the phone. Their customer service representatives are helpful. The only thing that would need improvement is how soon the calls are picked up. J C Plumbing came out recently, and there was some sort of communication deal where I don't believe they got the order but once it was clear that they had received it, the tech came out pretty quickly. The tubs were clogged and when he was here, he needed to test out the water. It turned out that something else was also wrong with the plumbing. The tech was very helpful and everything went really smooth. So, I was very comfortable with him.

    I did have an issue with my washer, and I didn't do it through American Home Shield because they were expected in two or three weeks. To me, it was too long of a wait. The washer is something that I couldn't wait for. Also, I was referred by my husband's coworker to AHS and we were told that we were gonna get a $25 Amazon card each. We didn't receive it. I called several times for that, and the issue was never resolved. I gave up on that because it’s been a while. Other than those, I'm satisfied.

    The refrigerator would work for two days, then it would stop cooling for a couple of days and would start working again. This has been an ongoing thing for a month or more. The contractor said they changed the compressor. And after they changed it, it worked. The next day, it went out again which went on for another two to three days. So, that's when I called American Home Shield. They said those refrigerators are known to have that kind of problem. I have thrown so much food.

    Now, I don't put a lot because when I do, I wake up in the morning, the fridge is not working. And the freezer where the ice melts, it would start leaking. It even messed my wooden floor. So, AHS said it just has to be replaced. The only thing that I don't like about them is the wait time. I call and I'm kept on hold for so long. It's not easy to get in touch with somebody when you wanna talk to somebody. Other than that, we had another fridge and that one had to be replaced. AHS did very good about it.

    We have everything that we can have with AHS. It's like life insurance. You hope you don’t have to use it, but you have it in case you need it. Way back in the beginning when we got the icemaker of the refrigerator fixed, AHS did not cover it. But, the last time we had it fixed, they had it covered then. We've also had a claim for the garbage disposal. It was working, but, when I would turn the switch on, nothing would happen, unless I would really push it hard to try to hold it in the on position, and then it would work. We also had a claim for the stove. I was cleaning the whole thing, down below where the drip pans are. When I opened it up, I looked at one of these wires, and it was black. I was scared to death of having a fire start because of a wire problem. So, the techs came out and fixed that. We are also getting a fan replaced next week in an upper bedroom with a light attached to it. The fan works but there’s something wrong with the light.

    Our AC started making a very loud noise for a couple of hours. After that, it completely shut off and wouldn’t come back on. It turned out that the motor of the AC fan was blown. I put in a ticket on the American Home Shield website and had it in within five minutes. Unfortunately, I submitted it on Saturday so technicians couldn't come in until Monday. The technicians were quick and they seemed to know what they're doing. They also let us know everything they were going to be doing ahead of time. So far, the repair has been good and I hope it stays that way. I'm hoping that if anything else goes wrong, I’ll get to use American Home Shield. Having a home warranty, there is efficiency. I didn't have to figure out who I should call. It was just already there for me. Also, the cost of the repairs wouldn't have been something I would have been I was willing to pay out-of-pocket.

    We had a claim with the air conditioning. American Home Shield sent out a company and the company was here for about 30 seconds. The guy took a picture, walked off, and guessed that the issue wasn't due to normal wear and tear without inspecting it at all. We called AHS and asked for a different company to come because we didn't feel it was appropriate. The second company, Ample Air Systems, came out and they said that it is normal wear and tear. The fan came undone and it kind of spun around in there. They said they could fix it and they would submit the claim to American Home Shield.

    But then, American Home Shield denied the claim and when we called back to ask why, they said that their system was down so they just automatically denied the claim. We asked for them to reopen the claim, which was covered, and the AC ended up getting fixed eventually. Ample Air Systems was very helpful and knowledgeable. They told us exactly what was wrong with AC and they were very communicative and kept us in the know. That made it a lot easier because we have not had the best experience with this warranty company. Had we not called back and stayed on it both times, they would have just denied the claim even though it was covered.

    Also, American Home Shield could do better on vetting their companies because they're sending out companies with very low ratings. They could also do better on their customer service. If they're having an issue on their end, I don't think it's appropriate to automatically deny claims. If our claim got denied, I'm guessing a lot of other ones did too. That part could be better on their end. We're dissatisfied with the way AHS handled this experience and past ones.

    The recent issue was a leak in the back of the toilet commode. The tech was nice. It's not leaking anymore. I had an issue one time before. One of the ladies' whole attitude wasn't quite right. I was like, "Okay, ma'am. I don't know if you're having a bad day or not, but I was asking certain questions because I need to know how this works so on and so forth.” That was the only episode. I still like AHS. I like the warranty because I don't have to search all over and try to find somebody to come out and fix it. It comes in real handy. I gotta just call American Home Shield.     The refrigerator wasn’t getting cold at all. The tech came out and he put Freon in it. He said that it’s possible that it might have a slow leak, but I just need to keep watching it. So far, it’s okay. The claim process with American Home Shield is pretty good. The only thing is I reported it being a Samsung. When the first tech came out, he was in a hurry because he had something going on. he looked at it and said, “Well, I’m gonna go and look on my computer. If I come back in, that means I can help you. If I don't, that means I can't help you.” He didn't come back in. I thought that was rather rude, too. He could have come back in and said, “Hey, we're not going to be able to service it.” I called him back on the phone and he said, “Well, I don't service Samsung.” I was like, “But you knew it was a Samsung before you made that run. So, to me, you're just trying to get money off of the company that sent you here.”

    AHS did eventually send somebody else out, but I had to wait for that individual to file the report saying that they couldn't service it. I don't know what they put on there to say why they couldn't service it or what they did. I didn’t like that process. The customer should at least know what the person that's doing the work is saying happened because anything could happen. They could be putting down anything. I had to wait a couple days for that to go through before I could even get a new person.

    I called AHS to submit a claim. There were roots in the sewer line, not allowing the sewer water to leave my home. So, it was causing leaking in that main pipe in my basement. It wasn't too difficult to get through AHS. I just had to wait a little bit. I called a couple of times because when I called the American Home Shield, at first, they sent somebody out who looked at it but they didn't do anything. They just looked at it, and then they said that they had to get back to American Home Shield to make sure that that what they needed to do was going to be covered. But nobody has come out to fix anything yet. But the guys who came out and looked at the pipes were very nice. They explained stuff to me and answered my questions.

I called American Home Shield Monday and they placed the service schedule immediately, so I got information about who was coming. Although the repair company was not coming right away, they had a service time. They came Friday, and they let me know ahead of time. The technician took a look at my water heater and filed a report for replacement then American Home Shield made the purchase order the same day. When I checked with them on the weekend, they gave me the purchase order number. The repair company changed some lines, and I had to get some money out of my pocket for that. Other than that, it was a good experience. The water heater has been installed, so everything is good.

    The AC wasn't blowing cold air and when I made a claim with AHS, the tech came out within a few days. He said that he was going to inspect it and see what was wrong with it. Then, he was going to submit it to American Home Shield and see if they were going to take care of it. He was very professional and he knew what he was doing. He said that he was going to come by and fix the problem in two weeks, but he hasn't gotten out to fix it and it's been two weeks now. Other than that, it's nice that with AHS, I don't have to pay all that money for the repair. Before they got a tech out there, I had three companies go out and quote me a price. I thought it was a system issue and they were up there in the $6,000 range or more.

    I called and complained to American Home Shield and to the service company several times. But it's like a nightmare that I'm going through to get this air conditioner worked on. Two Wednesdays ago, the guy was here the next day, which was what I expected. Even with the refrigerator or anything else, a day or two and they're there. We had no air conditioning and I told him that was the problem. It was hot upstairs at 82 degrees and we had it set on 74. He was polite but he could speak English hardly at all. It was very hard to communicate with him to make him understand what I was saying. But he knew what the problem was. He listened to it even in the back. It's a tube. It's got a delivery system inside and it's got the unit in the back of the house. He looked at everything, put meters on them and tested them. He said, "Look at this. 53 degrees it says. You don't need any freon. You don't need anything."

    Then he went upstairs in the attic unit where the delivery unit is, and he said everything was good. He came down, apologized to me, and told me there was nothing wrong with the machine. We were downstairs which was not the problem. The problem was upstairs. I did feel a little tiny bit of cool air coming out in the living room and I was thinking it was working then because I was not really paying attention to what it was doing before. I asked what did he do. He said he didn't do anything and he inspected the whole thing but it was working fine. That was how he left it. I told him American Home Shield has sent me emails to get my air conditioner serviced. I asked him to do my annual service for me. I figured if he did that, maybe he'd find a problem and it'd be working fine. But he didn't do anything and said it was working fine.

    The next day, my wife said it was still hot in the house. I was looking at the thermostat and it said 82 degrees but we got it set on 74. It was almost another week later by the time I got back to call them. I called JET first, the service people, but they did not return my call. I had to leave a message. It was a Sunday and on Monday, I said, "I left you a message on Sunday and I'm leaving you a message again today. Please call me back. This unit is not working. You got to get your guy back here. This house is so hot. It's unbearable. My electric bill is gonna be ridiculous because the unit keeps running."

    I called them on Thursday and they said, "I'll have to get a guy to you on Monday." I said, "Don't send me the same guy because that guy couldn't figure out what was wrong. I need you to send someone with experience that knows this kind of unit and let's get to the bottom of the problem because there's definitely a problem." He said he'd send somebody different. I didn't hear back from anybody about who was coming and when they were coming. I called American Home Shield because I was getting fed up. It was a week later and I still got the problem.

    They said they were gonna send a different service which was ANS. ANS was in my system and they were supposed to be making an appointment with me but they never called me. It said on my account to call them for an appointment but the guy that I spoke to on the phone that set that up never told me I got to call them for an appointment. He just told me, "A service guy will call you and set up an appointment." That was a kind of a backwards thing that they pulled. There was miscommunication and I feel like that a lot.

    JET was the one that came back Wednesday this week, and not only did they come back, but the same guy came here. He found three things wrong with it. The fan was not working properly, the whole thing was packed with ice and it doesn't have enough freon. He found all three this week but couldn't find them last week. I called JET back yesterday and said the guy was here and finally found out what the problem was. I asked when are they sending somebody here to finish the job and fix my air conditioner. The rep said to let him check which is always the same routine. Then he said "I haven't talked to the guy yet to see what the problem was." I said, "I'll tell you what the problem is. He told me. It's the fan upstairs is not working right. It's full of ice."

    The guys I spoke to at JET sounded like they're in their 20s and were polite enough but they seemed like dumb** who were just gonna pass it along to somebody else and not follow up and make sure it gets done. Every time I communicate with them, I speak to a different person and there's no one person in charge that you talk to. Then, to top it off, whatever I say to them, they either don't get it or they don't move on it and have anything done. You would think I would have heard back from them yesterday but no. In fact, when I got the text from JET, they said, "Your service technician is coming out today." I wrote something back to them and said, "You guys should be ashamed of yourself. It's been a week and a half now." They never even replied back to that.

    Today, I've not heard back from them. It's been a nerve-wracking experience. My wife is fit to be tied right now. She wants to get rid of American Home Shield. Up to now, I was very happy with them. The realtor gave us the service when we came here and we decided to keep it and it's been handy. We don't have real old appliances, but my refrigerator needed to be looked at a couple of times as well as the dishwasher. We had a guy that came here who was very professional, told me a lot of shortcuts and a lot of things I should do to prevent things in the future.

    My dishwasher was making a weird noise and it was not cleaning or functioning properly. It would always go into a 4E code. Sometimes it would turn off or it would just flash a 4E, then it would correct itself, then it would start washing again and then sometimes, it wouldn't. Most of the time, it would just flash the code until I turned it off and then back on again then sometimes, it would or would not start back up again. I did a claim online then the technician called me up and asked me what was going on. I explained to him, then I sent him a video of what my dishwasher was doing.

He went ahead and ordered the parts, which took three weeks to come in. Once the parts came in, he called me up and scheduled a day to come out. He came, replaced it and now, it’s working like it should. I’ve used American Home Shield several times over the years and it has always been good. They’ve replaced two air conditioning units and a dishwasher, so I can’t complain. I’ve recommended them before too.

    I've had two services done already and they've both been excellent. The first one was to rekey my house, and the second one was to have them come out and look at my air conditioner. They came out and looked at the unit. The repairman checked on a whole bunch of stuff because I told him it was making a really loud noise. He said, partially, it was because of the age of the unit. It's much quieter now and he said that the rest of the noise is the actual unit running. There's a grill on the top of the unit and it wasn't bolted down.     The signup process with American Home Shield was really easy. We got to pay for the policy within our closing costs. The service cost is really reasonable. It's $70 to have someone come out and do the work. American Home Shield has been really good. They have an online portal too. When I had a claim for the dishwasher, I put in the request online, checked the box, and they assigned the contractor to me. It was that easy. It was really straightforward.

    My house wasn't cooling. They said that it needed a little Freon and I had a leak. But the Freon was expensive, so we opted to do something a little bit different. It was $130 a pound and AHS only paid $10 toward that. With me paying my service fee and them coming out looking to tell me that, and then I had to pay for the majority of it, I really didn’t see a need to have a service and pay that service fee. Kinda against my contract and why I have it. So, I could just have called someone just to do that for me without paying American Home Shield and not being able to afford the other part of it.

    AHS is a rip-off because they are more in the business of not trying to fix your stuff than fixing it. I would not recommend a home warranty. Maybe for the very first year for a homeowner, but after that, I would definitely get rid of it. I calculated I've been spending an excess of 17-plus thousand dollars on American Home Shield and haven't even gotten six out of them.

    Our heating wasn't working and the contractor replaced a conductor upstairs. They also added almost five pounds of freon because they suspected a leak in the line. But according to the policy, they can't look for a leak until they put in five pounds of freon which is $100 a pound. I paid almost $90 out of pocket because American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound. A week and a half later, they came back again because the fuse on the same unit busted out. I asked them again if they would check the leak. The technician said, “We can't do it right now because it's working fine now.” But the last week and a half after they fixed it, the weather has turned for the better, and the AC unit hasn’t been on for the last week and a half. Hopefully, when I turn the AC on in the near future, I still have freon in the unit.

    The hardest part with American Home Shield is trying to find a service guy to do stuff. Sometimes it’s within 24 hours and sometimes within 48 hours. But when you finally get a service guy, the service guy will then make an appointment within 24 hours or 48 hours. Instead of 24 to 48 hours trying to find a service, they should be within the same business day. If I file a claim at noon or before noon, American Home Shield should be able to find a service guy at the end of business day to set me up for an appointment for the next day.

    For the very first claim I put, another service company put me on a schedule four days after I put the claim in. They claimed that they came to my house for the service. I work from home and my office is close to the front door. The front door never rang. They said they knocked and rang the doorbell, which is bogus because my doorbell is computerized and it rings the whole house.

    My sisters and 3 of my neighbors are with American Home Shield now because I told them about it as I was happy with the service. Customer service is the key. Everybody has the same rate and deductible. But when they help you out and try to get it fixed sooner is the thing I go for. American Home Shield’s been good with that, except for this last time. But it was not their fault. It was the service people they gave my service out. When I asked, “Can we try to get different a one,” the rep said, “The service people already got this call and we can't switch it now.” It took a next level person with American Home Shield to shift my service to Fayette Heating instead of the unreliable first source. Fayette Heating was a little more prompt and eventually fixed it so I'm happy with that.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas's tech, Israel, came out and added Freon and got me back up running. He had been here before and he's excellent. AHS is pretty good about picking good companies. He said that it was gonna have to be somebody who can come in and either I would have to get the cabinets torn out or I could get somebody that can go on top of the roof and go through the drain that way. So, they didn't fix that. They said they don’t do that and that American Home Shield wouldn’t pay for somebody to go on the roof.     The first time I called about one of the issues we have, I was assigned to a company, Ryco. Ryco called me and they asked about the three items listed. I told them about one, it's a light in a high ceiling and they said that because of access and that they are not certified to go up to 18 feet, they could not come. They declined the job and put a note in the system. They also recommended that I communicate with AHS to tell them what was going on and to find another company that would come and do all three for me.

    I did that and every single time I talked to a representative, they would say the contractor cannot do that and they don't see anything in the system. They said they would confirm with the company but no one would follow up with me. These calls took anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes while I'm on hold and they were trying to reach the company. They said no one was answering and they would call them the next morning and get back to me but none of the three that I talked to got back to me about the issue. I asked to talk to a manager and a manager called me back. I was told they put the claim back to Ryco because the issue was not covered by the warranty, anyway. That was a really bad experience. I gave up on it and I had the light fixed myself. Last week, I had somebody come out and fix it. But with the other issues, they are following on it so that's a good thing.

ACT Appliance called me when they were supposed to. We made arrangements for them to come, and they came. The person who came was good. I told him that after the dishwasher stopped working and it started back and it wouldn't drain, my faucet now has low pressure and it makes a sound. He said that I had to call again to get somebody out for that since after I called, it was still making it. So, I will do that.     I put in the work order for the AC unit that was blowing hot hair first thing in the morning, and Ultra Heating & Cooling showed up that day. They diagnosed and fixed the problem within a matter of 15, 20 minutes. I was super happy with that. From my experiences, some of the vendors are a lot better than the other vendors. A couple of vendors have been kind of subpar. One of them had to come back a few times to fix an issue. Some of them don't show up for a few days, whereas others are pretty responsive quickly.

    I had an experience where a plumbing vendor came in. There was a leak, and they said, "We can't do anything about it. We don't know how long it's been leaking. There could be mold behind the wall." They didn't do anything with. I ended up calling another plumber on my own dime to get them in there and fix it. I had a slow water leak and I didn't want to let it set. I was charged the $100 fee for the claim. That was kind of unfair because the vendor that was sent out here didn't do anything. When I called and spoke to American Home Shield about it, they said, "There is nothing we can do if the vendor showed up. You got to pay the $100." But for the most part, most of my experiences have been positive. American Home Shield has been well worth it. I'm glad I have it. It's been a peace of mind that knowing when something goes wrong, you call, put it in a work order, someone shows up, and you get the issue fixed.     I filed a claim for my washer and the experience was terrible. I was without a washer for three months. American Home Shield would tell me that they would give me an update in a week but they would never call. It was bad enough that we had to go to a laundromat every week. I understand that things go on backorder but the lack of communication made it impossible and I got so upset. First, a contractor told us they were going to come out. My wife took the day off but no one ever showed up. She called and they rescheduled to talk to her. We weren't going to wait another week so they did a zoom meeting to diagnose it.

    They came back about a week late ‘cause they had to order a part. They replaced the pump and told us that the pump was fixed but they needed other parts. We called American Home Shield back up and they scheduled Sears to come out. They came out about a week later. They said the unit was missing these other pieces and placed them completely on order. One of the parts came in and they scheduled us for them to come out to fix it. I got an email verifying that they were coming out. I took the day off and waited till about 5:30. I called back up and asked were they ever going to show up. I was told they could be as late as an hour so it could still be 6:30. I waited till 6:30 but one ever showed up. I called again and was told, “Not sure why they would tell you that. There's no way they're going to come out and there are still parts that need arrive.”

    It would have been useful to get correct communication. After I talked to Sears, I called American Home Shield. I was told by the lady there that I'm already a month without a washer and that they were gonna replace it. I was supposed to get a call from their approval department that they couldn't transfer to but I never got a call. I called back and they said they haven't heard from Sears yet. I called Sears and they said they had already contacted American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield back and said, “Sears says they contacted you. You say they didn't. One of you is lying.” Then I was supposed to get a call again from the approval department but never got a call.

    That kept going until I got so frustrated with American Home Shield and stopped calling. My wife called and eventually, they ended up fixing it. It was the worse customer service than anything else. It wasn't the wait, it was the lack of communication, not by Sears but by American Home Shield. I even posted to their Facebook page and got a response. They said “Maybe we can do it. Can you give us the case number and the address?” I gave all the information but never got anything back from them either.

He then told American Home Shield that the burners were dirty, that two out of four didn't light, and that the appliance had been abused. He reported that the oven was so old, he could not find the serial or model number. But on the receipt he left me, the serial number and model number were written down there. I looked the company up on the internet and they have nothing but bad reviews.

    American Home Shield didn't call me back and neither did the company that came out and did the repair. I called American Home Shield and they said they won't warranty the oven. I told the rep it would have been nice if somebody called me. Also, I wipe the burners down and all four worked. That aside, the last people that came out fixed the oven.

    The same thing happened with my washing machine at my other house. The company that came out said that my high-capacity washer was abused and they couldn't fix it. But prior to that, they came out and put a new door screen. It worked fine. Three days later, it started leaking again so I called American Home Shield. They had me pay another $100. The second person that came out said the machine was beyond repair because it had been overloaded. But the machine was empty. American Home Shield said that if I paid another $100, they could send somebody else out. I ended up having to pay a total of $300. The third company that came out fixed the problem.

    I spoke to somebody at American Home Shield about both the problems I had. One of the reps said he was gonna charge me $100 but refunded 100% of that. For the second one, he charged me $100 but only refunded 50% of that. I have not received refunds on either one of those accounts. I'm not satisfied with American Home Shield at all.

    BestWay was originally assigned to our claim. The person who came out stated that my claim wouldn't be covered. I tried to tell her that it was covered because I called American Home Shield to confirm it while she was there. She didn't want to do the work. She told me that she was already looking for another job. So, I could tell. It was the Friday before Labor Day. That's why I pushed for the second opinion because she told me to pay for it and fix it. But I pay AHS to have it fixed.

    So, Prime came out for a second opinion and they fixed the flush valves. They looked at the sink and they said it was fine. Because the lady did fix the pipes under the sink.     The claim process was pretty fairly easy, for the most part. The first contractor wasn't able to fix the AC, but AHS did move it forward to the next person. The problem wasn't with the actual AC but it was with the electrical wiring to the HVAC system. The wires needed to get tightened. The guy from the first contractor put the notes in and that process took a bit longer than I thought. But other than that, he was able to transfer the matter to the next company to do.     The TC AC people had come out and fixed our AC a while back and it was working fine. It was the Sunday before last, I was outside and I heard a loud bang and went over and there was an electrical fire at the connection. They hadn't touched that, but it was still part of the AC in the house systems. So I know they hadn't worked on that, but they had been out there, so I called AHS and they assigned it back to TC, thinking it might have been something to do with that.

    TC came out, said they don't do the electrical hookup, but also, he opened it up and looked at the compressor and made sure there were no issues with the compressor, and said everything was good to go there. We thought maybe the compressor ate itself and caused the draw that caused the fire. But that wasn't the case, so AHS assigned it to an electrical company, another one that came out and did nothing. The guy said, “I gotta buy some parts. I'll call you back in an hour,” but never called me back. The next thing I know, AHS had assigned it to another HVAC company, which I got on the phone with them, told them what was going on. They said that the first electrical company said it was water damage. There was no water damage. It wasn't raining.

    AHS sent another electrician that come out after my hour-long conversation with them and they talked to both contractors. There are two different agreements there as far as the AC people said it was electrical problems. Electrical people first said it was an AC problem. Then they said it was water damage. So the first company didn’t want to do anything. They were useless and didn't want the job. But AHS reached out to the initial company they gave it to, which is very good, JT. They came out, took it apart, looked at it, and it’s exactly what we thought it was, a short in the connection. But they had to order some parts. They're coming back Tuesday to finish it all up. AHS agreed to the fix, so everything’s good. I've been very happy with AHS. They're great.

    My first experience with American Home Shield was not very good. When I got ahold of American Home Shield, the people they had were all in the Philippine islands. I wanted a burner on my stove fixed and I talked to the person who said that they would do it, but he couldn't get the thing. Finally, we got it all taken care of, and they fixed it.

    It would be better if American Home Shield had their call center in the States versus the Philippines. But the guy who fixed my problem was from the Philippines, and he was a good guy, and he handled it. In fact, I wrote a thing and I said they should give this guy a raise because he was that good. When I got ahold of American Home Shield, they have a supervisor somewhere in the States. But this American lady was not friendly at all and I couldn't get anything from her.

    My second experience with American Home Shield was very good. I had some problems with the air conditioner. So I called American Home Shield and told them about it. Then the next day, I got a call from the air conditioning company and they said they could be out the next day. They came and found the thing was short on Freon. American Home Shield only pays $10 for the 50, but I understand that. It was taken care of very quickly. It restored my confidence in American Home Shield. I'm going to probably renew my contract with them this October now.

    American Home Shield sucks altogether. I submitted a request for my refrigerator on April 2nd. All of the vendors that came in, which was approximately nine of them if I'm counting the last guy, said the same thing - that it was inoperable and they couldn't fix the issue. I know that if getting a replacement unit, a vendor has to tell AHS that they cannot repair it and each and every one of these vendors that I had spoken to told me that they had already advised AHS. But I didn't get a remedy until 9/7/2021 and that is insane to me. We're pretty disappointed. I had also called multiple times and I've given three separate diagnostics the same way. It sounds like it's with the same person.

    I've got two claims open and the one for the AC was a little disappointing. The coil went bad on the unit and the total bill was 2,400. American Home Shield only paid 500 so it ended up costing me $1,900 out-of-pocket. But all the techs who came out were very good to work with. They told me that there was a probability that AHS would not cover a lot of this repair. But most of the time, AHS is easy to work with. They always tell you what's covered or not covered in their contract, but it doesn't go into specifics, like that coil. So, that was a large expense. I've had other claims like with the dryer and that went well. There were also pipes that were leaking and those were okay.

    The breaker that controls the master bedroom air conditioner flipped off and would not come back on. The tech came out and he thought the issue was a faulty breaker. I bought a breaker and put it in, and then he took an extension cord and ran a wire from a plug into that so I would have some air conditioning until I could get an electrician out to install the breaker. That worked for a while, but now the air conditioner has quit working again. I got the breaker installed but we don’t have it hooked back up. I called the contractor two days ago and again this morning. I need them to come back. I need to file a new deal with American Home Shield or the contractor needs to finish what they were doing.

    American Home Shield has been a lifesaver for us. I swear by them. I have three air conditioners and they had to replace the biggest one of them. They also replaced one refrigerator. I'm very satisfied. The only problem I've ever had with American Home Shield was with my microwave oven. The guy they sent out here had had a stroke and was trying to recover. We felt he was very incompetent. We spent 40 minutes helping him find his phone. He laid it down and he said, “Well, I’m gonna order this thing for it, and if it doesn’t fix it, I don't know what to do.” So he ordered this thing and the first time he came in, it was broken. The second time he came in, he put it in and nothing happened. Then he said American Home Shield would have to replace the unit.

    American Home Shield asked for a second opinion. Some other guy called me about three times and set up an appointment but never came out here. When he called, he wanted me to tell him what was wrong with the oven and I told him, “If I knew what’s wrong with it, I'd be repairing it.” He jacked me around so much, I just said, “I called your people and told them to cancel the claim.” We still don't have it fixed and I got aggravated with this guy calling me three times. I called American Home Shield's headquarters one time and told them this guy is not doing anything. So I dropped the claim on it and I bought a microwave.

    On Time Plumbing came out on the two claims I had and both times, they sent the same guy, Willie. The first time, he came for the leak from the ceiling coming through. Water was running down the side of the shower and going behind the spigots, running down the pipes, and then that caused all the Sheetrock to get wet and drip. He did a great job on that. The second time, he came for the flapper in the toilet. Then the main piece inside the toilet was old and busted so he replaced them. When he was done, he showed me that when flushing it, the arm handle broke on it, so he replaced that.

    In between those two service calls, the faucet in the bathroom was really tight and I couldn't even turn it on. I have children and they were not strong enough to even move it. Normally, the hot side would do something like this. But this was the cold side. I called American Home Shield and spoke with a representative at that time. She said that on my contract, they don't cover faucets. I told her that I've had the same contract with AHS for 13 years and they came out and replaced faucets and done work on faucets for me before. She was just like, “Well, no. We don't do faucets.”

    What's funny about that is when Willie came out, I had mentioned that to him. He said it was not true and that they must have had somebody new or doesn’t know what they're doing because his company works on faucets for American Home Shield all the time. So, that was a little odd. I went to Lowe's and bought my own faucet and changed it myself. That is something I would like American Home Shield to look into.

    I was having standing water in the shower, which was causing the toilet in the same bathroom to bubble and also the slow drain in the bathtub in that bathroom. The problem fixed itself 12 hours after I called and scheduled the appointment, but I still wanted somebody to come out and look at it because I didn't know if it might have just partially cleared. The plumbing company came out, and the problem did not repeat itself.

    The process time, not necessarily the response time, is too long. American Home Shield said the plumber would call me within two days, so I had to wait two days to hear from the plumber then another two days for the plumber to make it out to when they could come see my issue. It makes me a little concerned that if it's an emergency problem, how long is that going to take? Another four days for somebody to be able to come out and look at the issue?

But for air conditioning, they have marginal response teams and it takes too long.

    We've used American Home Shield twice so far. The first time was an icemaker. The contractor had to order a part, so it took a little bit to get fixed but it wasn't an inconvenience. The other one that we've had is our washing machine. That one was a little more critical. It was the sixth day or the seventh day that a repairman came out. That was a little bit long to get somebody out here for what I was expecting from the service. He also had to order a part, unfortunately. That is supposed to come in on the 27th of September. I am wondering if it depends on the type of appliance that break. Maybe some are easier to find people in this area. I got the impression with the washing machine that it wasn't easy to find someone in the area where we live.

    But the contractors have been fine. The refrigerator person had a trainee with him but that was fine. The washing machine guy was also very polite and efficient.     The toilet in my son's bedroom sometimes flushed and often times would not. I was told that the reason it did that was because it was an old toilet from the early '90s. The tech said that it wasn’t stopped up and nothing was really done. I was advised to buy a new toilet. Older toilets didn't always have enough water in the tank to flush the debris down. I went in my son's bathroom today to straighten up a little and it was stopped up. I'm 74 years old and I was in there trying to plunge the toilet.

    I have American Home Shield on our lake house and it's a four-year plan. We're entering the third year for that one. We also have the home warranty on this house that we bought in 2018. The first year was paid for by the previous owner and I've had it ever since. I have the home warranty because there are many things that I can't do anymore. It's also a security to me because I have a 76-year-old husband that goes ballistic anytime anything has a fault with it. It's easier for me to call and hope to God that someone would come out timely and fix whatever the problem is. For the most part, my service has been okay. But I was saddened about the air conditioner this time. I can't live in South Carolina without one so I had to get a new air conditioner.

    American Home Shield's customer service also talks really well. This year has been much better about not being on hold for so long compared to last year which was painful. You could wait an hour easily and I'm not good with that. The technicians who came also fixed the little things well. But there are a lot of things that I think should be covered by the warranty that aren't. Overall, I like the idea of American Home Shield and I would recommend them to anyone buying a home that's new or not and to people who just want to keep the home up and running. I just wish American Home Shield is more timely about getting out to solve problems. This last claim was very fast but it hasn't always been that way.

    I fell and hit my head on the toilet. I was in the hospital for three days and when I came home, the toilet was leaking. I called and talked to a rep named Han on 9/7 and he put an order in. On the 8th, the contractor called and scheduled an appointment for the 9th. On the 9th, a plumber came out and I liked him a lot. I got a hold of the plumber's office on the 10th and they told me American Home Shield was not going to cover the claim because they don't cover accidents. They only cover wear and tear.

    I called American Home Shield back to confirm that the coverage was just wear and tear. The rep Jericho confirmed that and said they already sent the plumber so they were not giving me the deposit back. But I was upfront and I told them from the very beginning that it was an accident. Jericho said I didn't and that I didn't talk with Han and that I put in the claim myself online. That was ridiculous and insulting. I was so angry and I told Jericho I wanted my $100 back or I would go through Visa and get it back. I also wanted my policy cancelled. I got a payment that went right through the next day.

    American Home Shield should have listened from the very beginning to what I said because they could have saved me three days. I had to go through the entire weekend with a broken toilet. This is the third time our home warranty has failed us. The first one was when a plumber put us off for days and days. I yelled at that plumber and it was horrible. They had 80 bad reviews from working with American Home Shield. That was scary. I cancelled the service. The second one was for the air conditioning unit and it was during a hot spell in the summer. The air conditioning people said it would be two weeks before they could see me. I asked if it was because they only did a certain number of American Home Shield in a week or in a day. They said that was right. I cancelled the service.

    The dryer stopped drying, so AHS had somebody come out and service it. The service was great and I liked that you can do request for service over the internet. The process is very straightforward. But it seems like their providers seem to take longer than usual. When I was first with them, they had providers that were readily available and they came out in a timely fashion. But now, that is far and in between.

    I've even heard from some people that I did business with before with American Home Shield that the customer service is really bad for the companies that are working with them. They also said that the payment is really bad. They claimed it was because of the pandemic that the customer service centers were not staffed properly and it took too long to get their payments. And I've had a company that we've used through them before that refused to service us. They said they didn't want to deal with Home Shield and that we had to pay out of our pockets.

    I like American Home Shield’s service. So far, they've connected me with good people, except for one plumber that I'm going to call them about. They didn't fix what I called them about. They're supposed to come out and fix it. Then they said I needed new piping and charged me 2,250, and it was just the seal on a toilet bowl. We still can't use the plumbing after two weeks. We're on our third week. What they did was really underhanded and wrong.

    We also had our AC worked on. Beaches Air Conditioning came out. They're wonderful. I love them. They don't do what this plumber did. They're gonna come back out for me again in a few months. Their customer service is good. They're always friendly and they always respond. The guys who come in are helpful and honest. They're not arrogant.

    I had an AC issue, and apparently, it was just the fan blade that was bent. The tech came out and told me what was going on. He didn’t have the part on him, so he said he’ll try to make it back but he wasn't sure, as his company's based out of Las Vegas, and we’re in Pahrump, which is about about 45 to an hour and a half. Then about two and a half hours later, he showed up at the door with the part in his hand, so it was a good experience. I've only used American Home Shield one time and they got on it, and everything got fixed right away.

    The only issue I have with American Home Shield is trying to get ahold of somebody. It is frustrating and I can be on the phone for hours. Other than that, I set up claims through my phone, which was pretty easy and I’m pretty much computer illiterate. Recently, I had an AC issue and Total Quality Air handled everything professionally and in a timely manner that they could. The compressor went out and the only hold up was waiting on American Home Shield because the part wasn't in stock. I had to wait an extended amount of time before Total Quality Air could get back out to put the part in.

    I've always gotten good service with American Home Shield ever since we've had them. They've replaced my microwave, oven and air conditioning unit, and I have no complaints. Whenever I call them, within 24 hours, I get a response, and customer service is outstanding. Recently, I did a claim by phone and gave them my account number. They asked me what was broken, and I told them my air conditioner was blowing hot air.

    The rep looked it up and told me what I had to pay, which was $75. She asked me if I wanted to pay that then, and I said yes. She gave me Advanced Air's number as well as the contract number. They called me then we set up a meeting, and everything went well. The technician was courteous and professional. He said the thermostat on the wall where we control our air was bad, so he said he was gonna let American Home Shield know to order one. He did good, but I haven’t heard anything from the home warranty company. I have to call them sometime today and tell them about putting in an order for one.

    I have had some positive experiences. I had two air conditioners replaced. On one, I put in my ticket for the repair on one and the company was great. My anticipation was they would come on Monday or the next week. They came early on a Sunday morning. The guy was nice, super efficient and repaired the unit. Right then, he told me something was wrong with it. He repaired it, and it worked immediately. He even let me know that my hot water heater was damaged and I didn't know it was leaking. He did a good job. The other one was a hot mess. I felt the company that was assigned to us did not follow through on the paperwork. The air conditioner was out for months in the summertime. I complained and complained and American Home Shield finally reassigned it to someone else who did a great job, and he was very efficient.

    If an item is not available and it has to be repaired, I found that if the person has to order something, they don't always follow up. I had two items that were broken at the same time. One item, they were able to repair, and the other, they had to order a part for which is understandable. The person never came back to repair the second item, even though they were supposed to. So, I had to call back to AHS and they had to send somebody else. I didn't have to pay another fee. But it was just the whole follow through on it. Overall, I've been happy except for the air conditioning units. And I felt that value of the two of them have been well worth my money that I've spent. And in most cases, both with the hot water heater that I just had replaced and the air conditioner repair, both of them went smoothly without a problem.

    The air conditioner was not cooling and the condenser in the outside cooling unit was all frozen. Once I submitted the claim, everything was done within four days. The tech diagnosed the problem and got it fixed within a week. But in one of my previous claims, American Home Shield wouldn't pay people to fix somebody's air conditioner on a holiday and in the summer here in Alabama, when it was 100 degrees. They don't pay people to come out and do a service call on holidays because it costs extra money. But I pay $100 for a deductible with American Home Shield when I have to call, and a service call is $75 to $100 for the contractor to come out.

    American Home Shield saved me a lot of money. It does what it says it's supposed to do. But they don't fully explain all of the plans, and it's hard to understand them. I am a Realtor and I sell their product. I tell people about their product. But I didn't know that there was a Realtor plan and that I could get a different plan. Therefore, in one of my previous experiences when they had to replace the coil, I had to pay about $300. But now, I'm hearing that there's a Realtor plan there that would have covered the Freon. I told them that I’m a Realtor but they never brought up the special plan to me. They should provide people with that extra.

    First Choice AC was horrible. I was having the same issue with the AC and they were out here two or three times. When the two owners came on the last visit, they knew the problem and fixed the AC within 45 minutes but with the other guy, no. But everything's working right now because of the two owners. They said I was missing a valve and they ordered it.

    Also, American Home Shield's customer service sucks. I know when something's written down and they have to read it word for word. They're calm and collected but they don't understand a freaking word I'm trying to say. They are the worst customer service I've ever dealt with in my entire life and I've dealt with some crappy ones. AHS does exactly what the contract says and I love the website. But what kills them is their customer service and the wait for the contractor to come back out when getting parts.

    The tech came two days after I submitted a claim and then he checked. What happened was it needed a new part. He put in the request to be able to get the part, and then he came back two weeks later with the part and fixed it. He was great. He gave me a time between 9:00 and 12:00 and showed up right at 12:00 because it wasn't his fault because of nature stuff. But he made it there and he fixed it. He was done within 15 minutes and cleaned his area and then he left.

That's a lot of money. I called once and got rejected. There was also a time I called a claim for an oven and I had a technician in. My oven is still not okay.     When I call American Home Shield to submit a claim, their reps are simple and very friendly. The contractor normally comes out in one or two days. When they come out, they already have my complaint in their work order so they look into it and then they show me what is missing or broken.     I had a garage door problem a while back, which never got fixed. So, I wound up doing that myself. The people who American Home Shield contacted for the microwave couldn't get the part. But I couldn't get ahold of the people because they had an answering machine. And AHS talked about, "If you ordered a part, we'll get in contact as soon as the part comes in." That has been since April. Never heard from AHS or anybody. I already contacted AHS a couple of times. They said they would contact. I say there was no reason to because the contractor will not to answer. AHS emailed them, supposedly to send out another person, but I have never seen another person either.

    The toilet in our spare bedroom kept on running and wouldn't shut off. I went to AHS's website and I thought it was really easy to use - enough that we'll wanna renew our contract when it expires in November. I could find everything really easily. Then, they gave me the name of the contractor and I immediately got a text saying that my claim had been assigned and a telephone number. Someone from High Priority Plumbing and Services reached out and they were great with the service. They called to let us know when they were coming and they were here and fixed everything. It was super quick. Inside the toilet tank, they replaced a seal and some sort of mechanism. It was nice to see them replace the whole harness-type thing because it was really old and needed to go.

    My air conditioning unit wasn't cooling. It's the second time that we put in for it over the last three years. The first time American Home Shield sent someone out, they did was put Freon in the unit. But the contractors told us, “Hey, your coil is bad.” But they put the Freon in. We had to pay American Home Shield $100 for the inspection fee. Then we had to pay an additional $600 for the Freon that AHS didn't cover. So that was a band-aid on the problem.

    This year, the same thing happened. We paid another $100 for the inspection. The contractor came out, told us and AHS the same thing. “Hey, your coil is bad. We can put Freon in it, but you'll need a new coil.” AHS said, “Yup, you need a new coil. We're gonna pay $750 to replace the coil, and you guys have to pay $2,257.” It was mind-boggling.

    I understand all the fine print and what they pay and don't. They suckered me, but that's fine. But the nightmare was my repeated phone calls started on August 29th through whatever Sunday's date was this past Sunday. I made at least 23 phone calls to AHS. And each time I called, they said someone would call me back in 24 hours. This is after we have paid out of our pocket to have our air conditioner repaired.

    AHS offered to pay us $390 on a covered repair that's over $2,100. If I got to pay $2,000, I'd rather do it myself. So we ended up having the same work done for $2,100. So, I paid AHS $100 to tell me what the problem was. And we're paying them monthly for coverage that is worthless. But going forward, that won't happen. Because as soon as I get back in town, the first thing I will cancel is American Home Shield. They are the biggest fraudulent rip-off racket that exists. What they are doing should be illegal.

    I have two contracts with American Home Shield. I have one out here in Vegas and one back in Pennsylvania. I've only had three claims so far. I've had two out of here in Vegas and one back in PA. In residence back in PA, the call was for the air conditioner. The only thing that disappointed me about the whole deal was I had to pay for the Freon. When the technicians put a new compressor in at the unit back east, the Freon was 800 and some dollars. I didn't realize that the Freon wasn't included.

    The AC here in Vegas was acting the same way where it was blowing hot air, so I was freaked out. I called in a claim and talked to someone. At the time this AC went out, it was like 110 degrees out here. I'm 71 years old. I asked the rep, "If it was the worst case scenario and if the problem was the compressor, how long was it going to take?" He said it could be anywhere from two to six weeks. That was unacceptable.

    I called back the next day and I got a lady on the phone. She said that if it was the compressor, she promised to handle it personally and that the process was not going to be two to six weeks. She added that the person I talked to earlier was a dispatcher and not a technician. She put my mind to rest a little bit. She was very helpful and sympathetic to my situation. We were to wait and see what the problem was and we would go from there.

    A guy came out on Thursday. We went to the back of the building and there were two units sitting there that were three feet apart. He asked which one was mine and I pointed to the one on the left. He kept saying, “Something doesn't make sense here. I should be getting contacts. I should be getting this, I should be getting that.” Come to find out that the one that I told him was mine was wrong. It was the unit upstairs. In the end, the tecnician diagnosed the problem with the AC unit to be a fuse that had blown. He fixed it so I was glad. I'm satisfied.

There was the main valve that could be cut off so that water won't keep flowing in the house and the gentleman from United Air Temp told me that it was stuck. But he said I needed to call AHS back and he would come back out and fix that portion. But when I called back, I found out that I have to pay an additional $100 for a new claim. I didn't feel like it was a new claim, all of that was connected, but they would not do it. I paid $100 for the new claim and when the gentleman came out, the water heater thing was not stuck at all. I complained about it and they reimbursed me the $100. But this was just a little kink in it. Other than that, I really liked the technicians at United Air Temp.

    The contractor was right on time, very polite, had to replace a part on a connector and it's working well. But when I signed up, it was online and I got a $50 discount on my premium. And everything went fine. I paid a whole year's worth in full. And for three months in a row now, I've been getting a bill for $50. Wednesday, I was on the phone for an hour and a half trying to get it straightened out of why I don't owe it. And I have thought it has been corrected three times, but nobody knew how to get it off my bill.

    The customer service is probably the worst of any company I've ever worked with. It sometimes takes two to three hours on hold to get ahold of somebody, and then I'm lucky if I don't get disconnected before they send me to the right person. I've had several claims for service. And usually, the people that American Home Shield sends are fine. But there are a lot of them they get from not even in my area. So, they come to my town once a week. For example, I had a clogged drain. And it was clogged for five days before a service person got here. Because he had to come from a place 100 miles away.     I've been with American Home Shield for quite a while. When the techs got there and looked at the water heater for my recent claim, the techs discovered that it had a leak. It's working fine now. The only problem I had was when the plumbers were coming out of the attic with the water heater, the weight of the water heater and the gentlemen broke my stairwell at the bottom. They told me I would have to call American Home Shield. But American Home Shield said that they would not warranty that.     We had our dishwasher repaired and AHS took out the $125 service fee from my credit card. But when the vendor showed up, he asked my wife for a $125 check and she was not aware of the previous payment. I tried to get AHS to take care of that and my account still hasn't been refunded. And that was in April. Other than that, I just got my dishwasher replaced when it broke again, so I'm very happy with that. They gave us a variety of different options, none of which we were happy with, so we took the cash option, picked one ourselves, and just paid a little extra for it.     The problem with the garage door is totally fixed and the repairman did a very good job. We had a garage door opener which was not very expensive and he had a very high-end garage door opener. He did not get approval from American Home Shield's side whether he should put that on the door. In spite of that, he went ahead and installed that one. Then they started sending the invoice to me. I had to call up American Home Shield to ask what was happening and why were they sending all the bills to me. American Home Shield worked with the contractor and got it settled. Right before that one, I had another claim that was awful. I placed a request and a person came and said that it was not covered. But all other requests were serviced.

    The pool motor wouldn't turn on and Expert Pools was sent. There was a flap that was broken on the intake of the pool, where the water gets sucked in. It wasn't pulling water in and so the unit wasn't getting fed water and it shut down. They made the flap go down and water started flowing and it started working again.     American Home Shield has failed to make any progress against my air conditioning service order almost 3 weeks after the original order. The company makes you use their contractors (which in this case was very poorly rated as well), and the contractor must use their parts provider. I could have easily had this work done locally in 48 hours but I was determined to have AHS live up to their obligation. The contract provides no limitation on the amount of time AHS can take to do the work, which I believe is used intentionally against the customer. Customer Service is located outside the US and hard to understand; completely useless. I have been sweating in my home for almost 3 weeks with no end in sight. Save your money because it won't produce the results you expect!

    The bathroom sink was clogged and I had a problem with the faucet in the kitchen sink. When I filed the claim, the rep couldn’t understand what I was saying and she wrote down whatever she wanted. When the first contractor came in to work on the claim, the tech said they need to replace the kitchen faucet but that he could not work on the problem in the bathroom because it was a faucet problem and not a clog issue. Then, a lady from G & G Construction Services came out. She unplugged the bathroom sink and she was very persistent. She took her time and found the problem. But I’m still having issues. American Home Shield told me they would send the okay for the guy from the first contractor to come and replace the faucet in the kitchen. But the company that they referred me to complained that they’re from out of town. They’re not always in the area so it’s taking them a long time to come and fix it.

    The only issue we had when we submitted a claim for our AC with AHS was that it took a long time, but I don't think that was avoidable. They were very responsive and they kept us aware of exactly what was going on at every point. The techs came out in Tuesday. At that point, the condenser was frozen up. So, we had to wait overnight for it to defrost. Then the next day, they came and put Freon in. It cooled a little bit, but it didn't work. So, they determined they needed to order an expansion valve. They came out Friday of that week and put an expansion valve. At that point, they saw that they didn't really need to put in the refrigerants that they'd put in, so they recaptured it. It's been working fine since then.

    I couldn't get a response from the first contractor that AHS assigned for my AC claim. When I called, it would ring two or three times, a guy would answer, and then it would go automatically to a voicemail. I thought it was possibly something wrong with my phone and I called using my mother's phone but it did the same thing. I called back three or four times and it was the same exact thing. Then, I got my son to call them and he got the same thing. He looked up the contractor and found out that they did this to a lot of different people. They got really poor reviews.

    I called AHS and at first, they said that they weren't going to do anything. That we just got to wait. But then it was really nice because they changed it over to the Same Day Air company. The rep gave me the name of the lady at Same Day Air that would be contacting me. Same Day Air called me on a Thursday and they had me scheduled on a Friday between 3:00 and 10:00 at night. They called before they came and sent me an email and came at 11:00 in the morning. They were awesome. It started out a little rough but overall, I'm happy. All I had to do was call in and be a little bit more persistent and they did what they needed to do.

    American Home Shield should be a little bit more flexible in the people that they send out. I have one issue going on right now and it was requested six or seven days ago that someone fix the dishwasher. It goes through the cycle but it's not cleaning. I talked to a lady from the contracted company and she was a little unprofessional. I waited for her to do something so she didn't forget. She then got back on the phone and I told her what the issue was. She was going to send somebody out and it was either going to be one or two days, but she was going to call me.

    The afternoon before the first date that she was going to have somebody come out, I called her. She said they couldn't come out as they were too busy with compressors. I asked when they could come out and she said, “I don't know. If we get more calls on these compressors then we're going to have to do it.” We set up another three possible dates, which now takes us out to close to two weeks on this thing. I told her to please call me and let me know. I'm sitting here waiting for the dishwasher to be repaired. We aren't here at this home all the time because this is only a seasonal secondary place. I also have better things to do than sit here and wait for somebody to not show up.

    We've had multiple things go wrong and I had to make multiple calls. All of them were answered satisfactorily in terms of the VRU. The contractor J.E.M. was very good about getting back to us and so was another contractor, Rotor King. There's somebody coming out this morning because we had a flood from our refrigerator because the icemaker wasn't working. We had to have another contractor come out and put a shut-off behind the refrigerator because the one that was here was inoperable. My husband managed to get it turned but it wouldn't shut off because the refrigerator flooded again. We paid out of pocket to get the thing done so we could turn water back on here.

    My original call before we came was for the water heater. That was on on the 6th or 7th of September. We still don't have any hot water. The microwave went out and that wasn't done. I also discovered there's a leak in the toilet now. I have spent my entire time down here waiting for contractors to show up. I'm not completely dissatisfied because our orders have gone through. There have been some issues with different things and I understand that people are shorthanded. But there have been a couple of things that could have been improved on. I put in a call yesterday to a supervisor asking a question, which she could not answer. She said she would have someone call me back within 24 to 48 hours. It has now been 48 hours and I have not heard anything. I'm not happy with that.

    We've had various appliances malfunction and we have used American Home Shield a number of times, and it has worked well most of the time. However, it’s very hard to get a human being on the phone and talk to AHS about what is needed. We've had two recent visits. One on the icemaker in the refrigerator, and one on the clothes washing. The icemaker wasn't producing any ice. The technician came out and said we needed a new icemaker. He charged over $400 for the visit, the icemaker, labor and tax. It seemed extraordinarily high to me. After he left, I noticed the icemaker wasn't making ice. So I called GE Appliance and AHS, and I requested another technician to come out. I was getting ready for that then I realized all of a sudden that the switch was on off, not on. The tech somehow turned the switch off and never turned it on. I did and it was fine. So I canceled the appointment for the second tech.

    We have been with American Home Shield since 2008, when we moved into this home, and we've had a great claim process with them. At the beginning of the year, we had a sewage backup into the house, and it was bit of a nightmare. The first plumber they sent out stuck an auger down there. He pulled it up one wipe, closed the cap, and said, “Nope, can't do it ‘cause you got a wipey in there. And that’s not covered.” I said, “What?” He said, “My company can come out, and we'll come out and do it.” It was a company through American Home Shield. We paid them $500, they came out and still didn’t fix the problem, and then stopped taking our calls. We contacted American Home Shield about it.

    AHS said there was nothing they could do because we did it on our own after they said they couldn't help us because there was a wipey. We also found out that they had a lot of complaints about this particular plumber. When I went online and searched, there were a lot of complaints as well. I don't believe they use them anymore though. Other than that, we've had very good responses, and we were shocked at how quick this last response was. I requested service for our hot water heater and the repair company was super quick about it. I put the request in on a Saturday, and they came Monday then replaced it Wednesday. All in all, we’ve been happy with American Home Shield over the time we've had them. They've been quick and efficient with anything that we have had.

    The contractors are fine. But the problem is with American Home Shield. They take their time sending people to me. It's like they deal with people based on their social-economic status. I live in a certain sector of Dallas and American Home Shield takes their time doing things for me. But I spend just as much money as everybody else, and I'm faithful to it.

    When I had COVID back in December, my washer and dryer went out. It took American Home Shield forever to send out someone. I was constantly telling them that I need the washer and dryer. I couldn’t go anywhere. Even though you had to wait 30 days before you could come to my home, but still, I had clothes that needed to be washed. I was mad because I shouldn’t have to fight for a washer and dryer when I already paid them for a washer and dryer 20 times. I made a call back in January about three times, but no one came out to my home until March. It was really bad. Also, when I call American Home Shield, I’m always talking to somebody out of the country. I don't understand them and they don’t understand me.

    I've been with American Home Shield since 2004, and I've never had to make calls. But when I started having to make a call, they gave me the hardest time ever.     The only issue that I had was when I called in for a plumbing and there were multiple issues, the AHS site didn't allow me to choose multiple issues. So, when they came out and something wasn't fixed, they had to come back. They were saying, "No, it was only the one issue." I didn't have the opportunity. It didn't allow me to choose multiple issues when I did it. It's the same with the air conditioning and stuff like that when you have to do it online. When you call in, it takes a long time, then you have to do it online, and it doesn't give you the opportunity to say what the multiple issues are.

    Two of the people that American Home Shield sent out for my refrigerator did not do that type of repair work. This last time, I was given the authorization to find a contractor myself and have them assess the situation to see if they can repair the refrigerator then American Home Shield would do a reimbursement. The guy I hired came out and did what he had to do. He said the refrigerator couldn't be fixed because where the leak was at, there wasn't any access to it. He now has to contact American Home Shield before they could give the approval for a replacement. American Home Shield has been good. The only thing I don't like about it is it takes so long and everything is on a wait basis. I don't have another refrigerator so this is the problem. This issue has been going on for a month now and I live in Arizona. You can't just have anything in the refrigerator if you don't have one.

    An issue was caught on the home inspection and the homeowner had said that they took care of the issue. When we moved in, it wasn't taken care of. My real estate agent set up the first service call. Two gentlemen came and they were very professional. They sent me a picture and their names prior to coming to the house. They were here 15 minutes and took care of the issue.

    I went through the real estate agent to get my first year with AHS and we picked the entry level. Then, AHS services called me to extend the offer to cover the appliances and I took them up on that offer. But one thing I wasn't thrilled about was the rep told me multiple times that she was only going to charge me for that one-month fee and then it would be charged and that wasn't the case. Also, they suggested that I put a safety valve on there so that if it were to happen again, the hot water heater would automatically shut off so it wouldn't overflow.     When I would try and wash some clothes, the electrical panel would go partway through a cycle, and then it wouldn't finish. I had the contractor come up and they diagnosed it right away. The serviceman was very responsive to my texts and kept me abreast of when the part would be in. I had to have parts replaced, and those work great. However, I would like a faster response on American Home Shield's end for updates. They seem to lag behind the actual repair folks. That would be helpful. And I wasn't sure if I should go to them or the repairman for updates. So I just went to the repairman. People need to be patient because even though my experience was good, that's probably not the case every time. I'm sure the process is a little longer than mine was.     My AC wasn't cooling anymore. The tech put refrigerant in. He said it needed some but didn't say how much. He didn't test nor repair anything. He also didn't put a dye pack in. I spoke to the contractor when they sent a bill because they said they had tested and repaired it which they didn't do because six weeks later, AHS sent a different company out and I paid $340 more for refrigerant because the techs said the AC needed it. Two hours later, my AC is leaking through my ceiling again. It leaked through three more times in three different rooms.

    So it's been a huge mess. It's September and I still don't have air conditioning. Now, the contractor is waiting for another part to come in. Whenever I've called American Home Shield, the calls generally range from 30 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes. It takes me that long sitting on hold, having to go to somebody and getting somebody who doesn't understand. I have to explain my issue every single time and then get put on hold.

    American Home Shield started off great many years ago but it has gotten very difficult to get a resolution if you have an issue. If you have a straightforward repair and can use the internet all the way, you're good. But if you have any kind of issue that needs to be resolved, then the process is aggravating. There are long wait times on the phone then all of a sudden, you get disconnected. There is also inability to speak to a supervisor or someone else who can comprehend what you're describing. Right now, it seems that American Home Shield is having issues with service companies. I talked to my sister the other day and she's very unhappy. She had started a service call back in August and her washing machine is still not repaired. She's in the process of chewing on somebody there.

    The worst issues have a longer delay. They've got to argue and justify everything. I understand that to a big degree, but I don't agree with making it inconvenient for the customer. Make the rules and stick with them. But for my last experience, I was able to do everything 100% over the internet and the service provider was wonderful. Even the lady that answered the phone was a jewel at their office.

    The actual service calls I've had with Americna Home Shield have gone well. But not so much with the pool where there was a billing dispute. The first person who came out didn't do so well with the pool and created some additional problems. We then had to get somebody else to come out and fix those. There was also some confusion about how to build that. It was two service calls. This experience with the billing was probably just somebody who didn't send the right adjustment form through the system and I kept getting bills. In the end, the issue was resolved without a lot of pain so that was okay.

    The more recent service call I had was for the air conditioning. An air conditioning guy came out and it turned out that it was an electrical issue more than an air conditioning issue. American Home Shield sent somebody else out and I paid for one service call. The techs got the work done pretty quickly and they were all very nice. It all was seamless. I'm happy enough that I'm about to sell my house and I already purchased another American Home Shield policy on my new house.

    American Home Shield's claims process is easy. I can do it right online. One time, I had an electrical issue and I was just outside of the 30-day timeframe. I had another problem with that same problem, and they said I was too late. Clearly, I was outside of the timeframe that they established, but I thought, “Okay, it's one or two days.” It is what it is though. Also, I'm not always sure on what's covered, but I don't know that that's American Home Shield's fault. I need to read my documents more closely, because I sometimes forget. The documents are a lot to look through though. I had another electrical thing where I just need to change the light bulbs and I thought, "Is this a problem?"

    Recently, two of my GFCI outlets stopped working, and they were almost back to back. One was on the inside, while the other was on the outside. They were connected and needed to be replaced. American Home Shield assigned a gentleman who got right in touch with me, came out the next day, and had it fixed in 10 minutes. It was great.

    I have an older home and when I bought it, the previous owners had the home warranty. I've extended it since because I've found value in it. Even these little things, I paid $75 for an electrician to come out. I don't know what that would have cost otherwise, but it would have been more than that. To me, American Home Shield has been worth it, and it gives me peace of mind. I have a really old HVAC system and should that go, that's a hefty repair. Knowing that I've got American Home Shield to rely on for things has been helpful. It's a worthwhile service and they've helped me with a variety of different things.

    It’s hard to get ahold of someone to talk to with AHS because every time you wanna talk to someone in the call center, it’s out in the Philippines and you can hardly understand what they're saying. You’re trying to explain what the issues are. Then they wanna try to solve the problem. I tell them I wanna talk to a supervisor or to someone who can speak English. But they’ll be avoiding me or avoiding that situation. They should have an office somewhere here in the States to take care of that, instead of everything being done remotely.

    They had sent out someone from Plumbers Inc. for the hot water tank. I’m handicapped, so I couldn’t get out there to see what was going on. The plumber was not professional. He just left us a note. “They’re not gonna cover this, and they're not gonna your hot water tank.” He was making decisions. It’s not his job to tell me what they're not gonna cover because his job is to go out and assess the problem and then let American Home Shield know. And then they’ll tell me. With that happening like that, I got my hot water tank leaking and running this water, and he’s gonna tell me they’re not gonna cover it. I need it done. I got my house shut down. He also told me I had mold there but it wasn’t his job to do all that. I was just pissed about it. So, I went on and got another company that’d take care of that.

    When I finally got ahold of someone at American Home Shield, then I had to pay to get the thing straightened out and redone. But they only were gonna pay just for a tank that is not gonna be completely up to standards or code. I had to pay all the difference. I told them, “I’ve got it done. Don't ever send the company to our house anymore.” They never called me back for weeks. Then finally, someone did, then they apologized. ‘Cause I threatened that if I get no call back on this thing, I’m gonna cancel American Home Shield. But finally, they did.

    They wrote me out a check of 500-something dollars for that. But I paid over $1,500 to have it done and up to code and it was very professionally done by Roto-Rooter, which is a very reputable company. AHS wanted me to send them the paperwork and invoice and I did that and showed them everything. But I didn’t like the way that was handled and I didn’t like the way that was done. I was really perturbed about it because I figured they’re too big for something like this. I’ve been dealing with them for quite a while. For them to have a company to come out, whoever they sent out to do it like that, then that’s a representation representing them.

    It could have been solved a lot earlier if they have a phone number I could call and talk to someone in their service department, with somewhere I can talk to a supervisor, instead of talking to someone that you’re trying to understand what they're saying and then they’re still trying to talk to you about that, trying to solve the problem, which they get paid to do as a call center. I need someone that has more power than what they're trying to do.

    I also had two issues at the time with that. I had a toilet leaking too. Because I didn’t tell them about the toilet, I figured all is under plumbing. So, I had a guy look at it while he was here. I needed to have it adjusted to two work orders. And that was another fight I had with them, ‘cause I’d already paid the $100 for the guy to come out just to turn around and leave. I didn’t wanna pay another service call when I could’ve done all under one umbrella with that. So, I ended up having to pay half of another service call for them to come out and fix a leaky toilet.

    We have two accounts. We have one for two different avenue addresses. The one that was for the AC was on Beacon Field. American Home Shield fixed it once. Then 10 minutes later, it turned off again. It was still under the warranty, so they called the company back. And they came and fixed it for good. That went well. We've been with AHS for a while. We haven't had any issues until recently. And that's regarding the company that they hired, which was A&E. They were having trouble getting somebody out. We first made the claim on July 28th for our refrigerator, but we haven't had it resolved because we're still waiting to get the refrigerator replaced. It turned out that the refrigerator was unfixable, so we're waiting on cards from Lowe's. They purchased another refrigerator. We were supposed to receive an email from Lowe's, but we're still waiting. It has only been a day and a half. And I know they said it would take some time.

    I had a recent experience trying to get another service, and it was extremely difficult. I had a clogged vent and I tried to get someone out to fix it as part of the service. American Home Shield said, “No, we only cover the dryer.” In another section, they said they cover all ventilation, but they meant ventilation associated with heating and cooling. It’s an ambiguity and that should have been covered. What they say they cover is not specifically called out in their contract and in the end, because it's ambiguous, they can arbitrarily deny it because of the lack of specificity in the contract. That would have been good for me to know.

    My past claims with American Home Shield were not always easy. Some of the people they wanted to send out were not very good. Every time I had to call in, I was anxious that the people coming out were gonna really be able to do the job and not cheat. American Home Shield should check the reliability and professionalism of the people that they have on their list.
