I get ahold of AHS and somebody comes out the next day or within a couple of days and fixes the issue. We had a clog and 4M Plumbing came out and unclogged it.

I'm good with the service I get from American Home Shield where I live but not with the service that I get in my second home in Florida where my parents live. Recently, we've had our faucet replaced and prior to that, we had our garbage disposal replaced. AHS has taken care of our garage door as well as our washing machine, and we've had them for a long time. When we lived in Florida at our other home in Cape Coral, they replaced our air conditioning unit outside. So, we've had lots of work through them. When you're there, it's great. But when you're not, it's not so great.
The only time I was extremely upset with AHS was with the faucet they just replaced here. It was busted. I set up an appointment Sunday evening when it broke and we couldn't get anyone to come out until after Thanksgiving. So, we had to be with no running water in our kitchen for Thanksgiving. It's hard when you're speaking to people who are in a third-world country. He handed me four other locations and said that I could call them and see if they were available. I was thinking why I was doing his job. It was what I was paying them for. But he refused to do it. So, I had to sit down and call out all these different places to see if we could get someone sooner. I told my husband that maybe it was time we start looking for someone new that does it because we've been with AHS so long and it seems like it's getting harder and harder sometimes.

The tech was courteous, on time and he explained to me what he was checking for. He advised me that if I had any more complaints related to the call, he would let me know that there would be no charge if I needed them to come back within 30 days for the same problem. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It's been a benefit knowing that my out-of-pocket is gonna be $100 and that's big savings over something that has to be replaced. It's easier to come up with $100 as opposed to 1,000.

I was cooking one day, and I heard a loud pop on my stove when the oven was preheating, and when I was also using the stovetop simultaneously. Immediately after the pop, a large amount of smoke poured out from under the console center. The contractor called me back the next day after I phone AHS and they came a week after my stove broke. That was pretty good.
The techs did a very good job. They were able to move my stove out from the wall and immediately identified the problem, a blown power cord and blocked terminal. It was a very basic procedure. The tech had the part but the issue was the wrong power blocking core terminal when he came back for the next visit. He said the electrical prongs were close. They looked very similar, but they did not match. He realized 15 minutes right before he tried to plug it in. So he took the old, damaged one and he came back about a week later and repaired it. So far, it has worked fine. He was very polite and very quick. He keeps it less than half an hour every time. So, I’m amazed. He called me when he was 45 minutes out both times, so I had plenty of time to get ready.

There were some electrical plugs that weren’t working and the electrician that AHS sent out was great. We're in a new home and their service has been really much better this last year. In our prior home, we had a nightmare with a washer and dryer claim. So if it's something that is a bigger item, it's kind of a pain. But if it's something that they can fix timely, it's a lot easier. They should also improve their process in making a decision that we could move forward with getting a new item. They tried to repair a 20-year-old washer and dryer and so we were pretty much out of a washer and dryer for six weeks until they decided that we could get a new one. The same thing happened with our microwave.

My downstairs heating wasn't coming on so I filed a claim. I saw the company that I was assigned to and they said that I could call them or I could wait for them to call me. I called and made an appointment. They were able to schedule me for an appointment the next day. They let me know if they had any cancellations that they would be able to squeeze me in. It was two people who came and they wore their masks. The young lady that was a part of the team gave me some additional tips on taking care of my heating and air system. They were able to find the issue very quickly and resolve it. They were in and out in not even 15 minutes and I'm saving money with the tip they gave me. American Home Shield beat any expectations I could have had.

Our dishwasher would trip the power box. It was happening frequently every time we used it. The person that arrived explained to me what he was going to do. Once the job was completed, he stayed a little while and let the dishwasher run to make sure that it didn't trip again. It was a positive experience.

The garage motor went dead. I had a LiftMaster. But I didn't get a LiftMaster when the contractor did the work. I got a regular garage door opener that AHS covered. So I had to spend extra money because LiftMaster had both lights on each side. I had to buy a motion detection to put it in my garage. So when I step out, it'll be totally dark. AHS should match what you already had. But everything else was pretty much self-explanatory.

The water in my sink kept shutting off and nothing was coming out. American Home Sheild assigned Circa to me and it seemed to take forever for them to come out. They do not open on the weekends or late nights and they don't do emergency calls. They only open at 9:00 then close at 5:00. American Home Shield said they were getting the message over to Circa but those guys never showed up. I went to Home Depot, found the tubes, opened up the clogged piece on the sink, and did the work myself. I changed out the screen and the sink hasn’t clogged back up since. The process was good with American Home Shield until this recent incident.

In every interaction that we've had with AHS, they're very consistent as far as their time management. One service never takes longer than the other. They're always very quick to reach out to someone and have someone call me immediately. I'm assuming they have lots of clients, so it's a little surprising how quick they are. My most recent claim was when the garbage disposal went out and the assigned vendor called me a couple of hours after I submitted a claim. The tech took 35 minutes to do the repair and called the next day to see how everything was going. I really liked that.

Most recently, we had plumbers come to repair the spigot. Previously, it had gotten very tight and then we couldn't fully shut it off. It was running and dripping. The plumber had opened it and found that the internal piece was corroded and he replaced it. But the faucet is a bit loose. We don't feel secure about whether or not it's going to hold. But for now, it seems fine.

American Home Shield sent out a company for the garbage disposal that was not working. The technician just looked and said something was stuck in the garbage disposal and it wouldn't be covered. He said, "I can change it and give you a new one for $400.” They were trying to rip me off and take advantage of somebody who did not know what was wrong. I told American Home Shield that we don’t want that company to come to customers because that's taking advantage of people. They sent out Circa Service and their technician was very efficient and did the work. He knew what he was doing.

The refrigerator was not cooling. The part where the ice comes out was not coming out properly. It was stuck, and it's still stuck. It worked for a few minutes, but it's not working anymore. I don't know if it's a result of taking some of it apart. But now, the light is not working and where I just get the water, that's not coming out. The tech tried to order a part and he couldn’t find it. So, he went back to American Home Shield to see if they could research and find it. Other than that, I have gotten good service from AHS. They come through with what they commit they would do.

I've had American Home Shield for several years and they have always worked out well for me. I've had my AC fixed a few times before I replaced them, and I ended up replacing them and they helped me with that. I have also had the garbage disposal and my refrigerator fixed. A washer at one point. I just had to call them for my heating unit and opened a service request. The fact that they follow up to make sure everything is happening, from a consumer standpoint, that's wonderful. Normally, you have a conversation with somebody then they're gone.
AHS has called me a couple of times. And when I call them and things haven't happened the way they were supposed to, they tell me what I need to do and I got myself service and they call back again to verify that everything happened. The tech was great as well. He came in, did what he was supposed to do, told me what was going on and what happened and got me all fixed up. I would recommend AHS.

When I first filed a claim for the water heater, AHS sent me two different contractors and neither one of them showed up. AHS suggested that I get my own contractor and when I did, it wasn't until the next day that they sent me a notice that the contractor was to call them before any work is to be done. By the time they sent me the notification, the contractor had been in the house and had reinstalled the hot water heater. But through negotiations and me providing them the information that they needed, they resolved the problem and reimbursed me for the claim.

I had an issue with my toilet and I only had to do the $100 upfront to get it repaired. The repair guys were very courteous and gave me information as far as what was going on. Since the repair, everything has been good so far.

A hose came out on the water heating tank and I had a water condensation problem in the system. I submitted my claim online through American Home Shield's app and I was able to track its progress all the time. The contractor was on schedule and quick. They did their job. This is my first experience after being with AHS for one year. So, for my first time, it was good.

We’re on a private well and we pay extra for the well pump coverage. When the well pump went out, American Home Shield was supposed to find a contractor but they couldn't find one. They said we should find one, which we did, and spent a lot of time doing. But they wouldn't pay it. So that was bad. But the recent electrical call was good.

I was with a different warranty company before and the people that American Home Shield goes through for service seem to know what they're doing better. Also, AHS seems to stay on top of it. I had a claim that City First Electric came out for and the tech was friendly, polite, and professional. I had called out my previous warranty company for the same issue but the guy AHS sent out found the problem. The box on the plug in the kitchen was out so he replaced that and I’ve got electricity in that room. I’ve only used AHS twice but they seem to use more professional service people.

I used American Home Shield recently for my range and the process took three days. The technicians couldn't repair the appliance so American Home Shield replaced it. Everything so far that I've had done has been quick and I've been quite very satisfied.

A & B was coming to close the hole in the drywall after the plumbers came to repair a leak. They started doing it, cleaned the cut and then left. They said they didn’t get the authorization, that I have to pay them $360 in order for them to do it. The guy was super rude. The first time he came, he said I only sent them the picture of the hole. I sent hom four pictures and then he said I made the hole. Why on earth would I make a bigger hole? What do I get from that?
I was trying to get an understanding of what he was trying to say, that it’s because of the plumbers, and the plumber said they didn’t make that hole. I said they didn’t, that when they opened the small hole, some of the wall fell because of the water that had sat there. I called the same day to AHS to follow up. The AHS rep said I had to call within 24 hours because the claim is new. Then the other day the A &B guy called me and he said he’s coming on the 15th to fix it. He finally got the authorization.

American Home Shield really saved us during the first year after we bought our house. If something's gonna break, a lot of times, it's that first year and the warranty helped us. Also, not only do they get someone out here, if they get someone and that company doesn't do a good job, AHS will send someone else out and they will make sure that they ensure the work. That means a lot.
I especially like the fact that AHS offers the premium service that they offer. They replaced our entire HVAC system, which we wouldn't have been able to afford. I'm extremely grateful for the service. Recently, H&S Floors & Furnishing came out and they were great. It took a couple of days for them to come out because it was near a holiday but they came out. The tech fixed everything. He had to get a part and he came back the next day and the work was completed. A huge malfunction with one of these systems in our home could mean losing the home and it is totally worth it for us to continue having AHS.

Everything was fine with my experience with ABM. My washer was broken. The hose was off of it. I also had them check my dishwasher because it kept running for four hours, and I thought there was an issue. They were really good. Everything is fine now.

The tech was very nice but my heat has been popping off and on. It just so happened the day he came out, the heat popped on when it had been off for three days. So he said just to call if it pops off again. AHS needs to upgrade their vendors.

The light in the microwave wasn't coming on. When we would close the door, we would hit the button. It kept saying the door wasn’t closing. I submitted a claim to AHS that weekend and they assigned me a technician who then came out on Monday. I'm paying American Home Shield every month, so if it was something major, I pay my deductible and I don't have to worry about it. If I didn't have this, I'd probably come out of my pocket a pretty chunk of change to get a new microwave. I like the convenience, too, of having it. Every time I called them and said, “I need this,” they’re there. In one of the houses I own, the dishwasher went out. I called and they couldn’t fix it, so they replaced it.

American Home Shield's service is great. The couple of times that we've had to call the contractors that came out, they did a great job. There was a little bit of a delay with one because of parts but because of COVID, many things may get a little bit difficult. They got great customer service though. They kept in contact with us on what was going on and as soon as they were ready and got the part, they came in. They fixed it. Everything's been great.

We have a two-side door refrigerator and the refrigerator part was not cooling. Once the order was submitted, someone from 1st Choice contacted me. Then, their tech also contacted me and did a virtual consultation where I was able to hold up my phone and he was able to view the inside of my refrigerator. He was very knowledgeable of the model and the make of my refrigerator so he knew right away what the issue was. He came out the day before Thanksgiving and he kept me informed. I know he was very busy and to me, it was beyond what a regular repair person would do. I'm very happy with 1st Choice.
But with the repair company that American Home Shield sent out for the same issue back in March, I was not very happy with their service. I was frustrated. Our refrigerator went out about the same time we had that deep freeze here in Texas and lots of people were out of electricity. I'm sure that American Home Shield was overloaded with claims but I was very frustrated through that whole process of trying to get them to help me. They kept putting it back on the repairman. Other than that, I've been with American Home Shield for five years and usually, they're pretty prompt. If I call in, they address my questions. It's just within the last year, trying to get a timely response back from them has not been very good.

The heating cycle on my HVAC system was stuck on. I called American Home Shield and someone contacted me right away. When the tech came out, he had everything with him. It all went very well and American Home Shield was very responsive.

The lights in my master bedroom and all the outlets weren't working. I reached out to American Home Shield and had the contractor come out. It turned out that it was just loose wiring in the electrical box outside. Everything's working absolutely perfectly after the service.

It's been a hard year and a half with American Home Shield. I noticed during the pandemic that it took me almost a month to get a water heater replaced and my tenants didn't have hot water for a month. The tech that AHS sent out seemed like he was more concerned with trying to get the water heater replaced so that he could get the full job and pay for the 1,500 than trying to resolve the issue. It was the gas valve that needed to be replaced, so I had to pay another contractor after he left because his recommendation was to replace it, but the water heater was only a year old. And he said it was a refurbished water heater, but it's not. I had a receipt from Menards from a year and a half ago. And on a sticker, it showed it was manufactured June of 2020 and that we purchased it July of 2020.
Then, I was supposed to get $413 back and I've called at least four times. AHS said they were going to put it in the mail. Then, I had some issues with the water heater once it was replaced but they told the contractor that they couldn't help me with the issue because I received the cash-out payment. But I still haven't received that check. Right now, my tenants are still without hot water and it's been three weeks.
Aside from that, I've been paying all these $100 fees for AHS to send technicians and they tell me that this isn't covered, that's not covered, this and that. So, I've been out of more money with paying the $100 fees for contractors to come out than if I would've just paid for contractors straight out without the warranty. Anyone thinking about going with AHS should understand what's covered and not covered because there's a lot of stuff that's not covered. When the air conditioner was the issue, before the techs even came out, they were saying that if it was a Freon issue, I had to pay this and I had to pay that.
Then I ended up having to pay an independent contractor and it wasn't a Freon issue, it was a capacitor. But I had already paid the other contractor because the stuff wasn't covered. So, I felt like I've been going in circles with all of their clauses, making it difficult to get things done because, as a consumer, how do you know what all these clauses where stuff isn't covered and then you have to pay the $100 fee for people to come out to tell you that? But then, you still have to pay another contractor in addition to you paying the fee and in addition to you paying for the service call.
Dealing with AHS was also a nightmare for me during the pandemic. I would hold on the phone for an hour or 45 minutes back then and I was calling from overseas. So, it was an international thing. Then I was transferred and I was hung up on. Things have gotten better recently with getting through, but it seems like it's always another department that you have to be transferred to or they have to escalate it to someone else and get back to you. But things aren't resolved on the first call.

Gilmore’s Home Solutions came out for the microwave when it wouldn’t heat up. The light would come on and everything would work, but the heating element wouldn't. They looked over everything and ordered parts. Then, they came back and repaired the microwave. They were quick, efficient, and very friendly.

The furnace was blowing cold air and it would never get hot so the upstairs was freezing. Airmax came out and the tech said that some type of electronic board would kick off. The air would come on hot but it immediately had some type of safety valve kick off to make it blow cool air. They had to order a replacement for the board and they came back out on a Monday. They put in the board and now, the unit is fine. Airmax was great.

I put in a claim for the garbage disposal and some faucet repairs. I got a four to five-hour window wait, which is the part I hate most because I can't do anything more than just sit there. The tech said that he was coming so I said, okay. He came, looked at it, and then left without saying anything to me. The following day, I called American Home Shield and they put in another order for the contractor to come out. But I didn't know that the previous contractor had changed.
A guy called me and I realized that it was a different contractor. I called American Home Shield and I got a representative who was really understanding. She really helped me out. She understood what I was saying and what I was going through. She did her due diligence, told me what was going on, and fixed the issue. She put me onto a new contract. They came and did a marvelous job. I was upset with them but in the end, I was pleased with how it turned out.

My most recent claim was for a gas leak and Leak Seekers came out. I was told that they didn't find a leak through a test. But my natural gas company came out and located a leak. I'm waiting on Leak Seekers to submit their findings so I can have American Home Shield send a second opinion. I wish it was something else put in place that can handle issues like I'm going through this week. But other than that, whenever I talk to someone, the customer service is good.

We had a pinhole leak in a pipe in the kitchen. AHS suggested a plumber but I did some research on the plumber and they don't have a lot of good reviews. I called AHS back and I asked for someone specific but they weren't in the network and AHS referred me to someone else. The tech came out and we showed him where the leak was. He assessed the situation and he proceeded to fix it.

Both of my drains are clogged on my tubs, and Lone Star did a great job of coming in here, identifying the problem, being nice, courteous, professional, and clean, and getting everything done and out the door fairly quickly. They were knowledgeable. American Home Shield is really good. The coverage is good. I like that it's online. It's easily accessible. You can do everything. You don't have to call anybody. If you're buying a used home or an older home, I would definitely carry it. It's worth it. I've got my money back both years, easily, with just one claim. It's a really good service. It's affordable and I would definitely keep it.
I've had to call for the same issue three times. I've had the same problem three times in the last two years. I’m optimistic that it will be resolved this time because they did send out Lone Star Contracting out. Before that, they were sending a company out that was at least an hour away so they would have to get it scheduled, drive all the way down here, then all the way back, when there’s plenty of contractors in my city. But now, they got a local company, which is good.

The contractor did an awesome job. It took them a while to reach out, but it was around the holidays. As far as them getting back to me, they took care of me. The tech told me that the cart was rubbing back and forth on the back of the shelf. It eventually caused a hole and that was the reason why the leaking was happening. He told me he wasn’t able to repair it and the next day, American Home Shield told me that I was eligible for a new dishwasher and they will be shipping out my dishwasher some time in December. I also had American Home Shield on my first home and have no complaints. Everything gets done relatively soon. I'm looking to use them for another home I'm looking to buy in the near future.

The level of the water was rising and rising, and the repair people's solution was to check a few things in the pool pump, but also to point out what it is that I need to have fixed. American Home Shield's claim process works. The online claim website is very black and white. So, you have to check about 12 different boxes on there for whatever your problem is so that you don't get cut out from having something that needs covering really covered. That happened to me once. I didn't check the right box and they said, "Oh, we didn't come out here for that." So, the website should have a place for text that says, "Here's my problem."
Sometimes, if you do a claim by telephone, it is better because at least you can chat with the person on the phone and say, "Well, here's the problem, but it's really this," then they make sure that all that stuff is covered. So, I prefer to do it by phone. It used to take between 30 and 45 minutes to get somebody on the phone. I don't think it's that bad anymore if you call at an odd time, but the problem is the length of time to get a person on the telephone.

The exhaust fan was not working over my range. AHS had to replace the exhaust fan in the hood. The contractor came out the very next day, but it took them about five days to get the parts. Then there was a weekend that came in there, and then Thanksgiving came in too. They didn't work on those days. But they did a fine job.

The tech was able to come out within the next business day for the garbage disposal. I like that he was very thorough. Also, he was nice and showed good customer service. It was a great experience. I recommended American Home Shield to friends and family. It cut down the stress of what to do if something goes wrong and I have that extra something that I can rely on.

I had an issue with my water heater. The technician did a great job and resolved the issue. He is the best technician I've ever dealt with. But I didn't have the greatest experience with a past repair with my HVAC. I didn't like the people who came out. There was also an issue in getting AHS to pay the claim, but they did finally pay it.

At first, it was pretty rough with American Home Shield but they seem to be doing pretty good. I don't call them unless I absolutely have to but each time I call them, the service and everything get much better. They have been stepping up and they've improved. The first couple of times were a little sketchy, but I think it was mainly because I was a new client and they had no idea where I was. Maybe as time goes on, the computer gets more focused on where I live.
In the beginning, I had them bring a plumber out and they called somebody from Los Angeles. We live up in the northern end of Santa Barbara County and the girl that I was working with was from the Philippines. She was sweet and super nice but she had no idea where I lived. Then, it took a couple of months to get everything done because the plumber didn't finish. The first time, he said he didn't have the right tools and then we didn't hear from him for a few weeks. I had to call a lot to make sure that he came back and finish the job. But even then, he got just so far. He wasn't able to really do what needed to be done.
But this last time, they found a really good plumber. The plumber they sent out was here right away and did a great job. He had to come back but that was not his fault. And even when it backed up the second time, he was there that day. It was awesome. We also had an issue with the appliances and they took care of it. They fixed the problem with the oven, which was pretty easy for the repair guy. With the dishwasher, it was not repairable and I had to order a new dishwasher. It took a long time, but that's okay. AHS makes an effort to improve. They always ask for feedback and it seems like they always work hard to get better. I appreciate that.

I'm about to stop my coverage with American Home Shield. Their customer service has gone so downhill. I was talking to somebody just yesterday trying to resolve an issue. I've had a broken dishwasher for two and a half weeks now. It's been two weeks since we made the call and I'm getting the runaround. I still don't know how they're going to resolve this. I called a few days ago, the guy who came over to take a look said there are multiple parts broken and we also reported a leak, which I think caused the short. He said he didn't think it could be repaired, but AHS decided to repair it. They're giving me no information about when the part is going to come in, and I told them, "Look, you're spending $300 on parts and I think there's still something wrong with the dishwasher. Why don't you throw in $300, I'll throw in $300, and we'll just get a new one?" I just can't get through to anybody with any authority to do that.
You call their customer service and ask to speak to a supervisor because they can't do anything and they absolutely refuse to let you talk to a supervisor. This has not been my experience in the past. In the past, if I asked to speak to a supervisor who has the authority to make a decision, I get put through. But with this dishwasher, I've called three times, and every time, they just stonewall and say, "Well, a supervisor's already been notified of the situation."

I needed a new washing machine. 2 Bald Guys came and said, “Absolutely, you're gonna have to have a new washing machine. This one will never work again.” American Home Shield had already received their input and we ordered the washing machine through American Home Shield. They ordered the washing machine. They arranged for it to be delivered and installed and the old one carted off.
American Home Shield ordered it from the warehouse. The delivery people brought it and they were at my home for five minutes. They said, “We can't install it because we can't turn the water off.” I said, “I can show you where to turn it off for the entire house.” They said, “No, you’re going to have to have a plumber come first because the pipes are too old." Then, I called American Home Shield again. They had Ace Plumbing come out. They got a tool and turned the water off. But they first turned it off downstairs, which is what I'd recommended for the first company that was delivering. Ace Plumbing said, “They didn’t look like they tried very hard.”
Ace Plumbing left. The original delivery people had said, “We'll probably be the ones that come back and install.” So I called AHS again and said, “Ace Plumbing came. They fixed everything." Then, I had talked to five people, because they kept saying, “Who delivered it?” I said, “I don't have that in front of me, and I'm gonna have to hang up to get that information. But you all should have that in your system because you made those recommendations.” After talking to four people, they said, “We need to give you to the ordering people that ordered the washer in American Home Shield.” They did and then we resolved it very quickly. There were several people that needed to forward me to other people. It took about an hour and a half. But it worked out okay and they understood. When I finally got the right person that I needed to, things were handled very quickly and professionally.
They said they would not be calling the original deliverers, they would just call another provider to come and hook it up. That other provider was Ace Plumbing. Ace Plumbing had already been out there in the morning, and then they came back later in the afternoon and hooked it up. Now, I was told that there was the $100 charge for when way back the 2 Bald Guys came to either fix it or tell me that I needed a new washing machine. AHS ensured me, that the second charge, if there was a second charge, would be just to Ace Plumbing. That I would be charged $200, not $300 and $400 for all of this. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to other people because I've had American Home Shield off and on for over 21 years.

I don't know whether AHS benefits me. For what I'm paying monthly and how I use their services is not equaling out. I spend $71 a month for service, which equates close to $700 a year and I've only used them four times. Each time I have to pay a $75 charge. I could be putting that $71 aside and just pay for service on my own instead of using them to cover. Because right now, I really don't have any products in my house. Everything is practically new. I feel like I'm just giving away my money, especially when I have to pay $75 for the charge.
They need to lower their charge for service first. When I first started with them, it was $50 for a visit. Another thing, their policy is to come in and try to fix it. If they can't fix it, then they want to replace it. Then they want to replace it with whoever they're dealing with. I don't have a choice in the replacement part. They came in and they couldn't fix a faucet. Now, they wanted to replace it. I want the faucet that they're going to get for me, but I have no choice. I should have a choice in what I'm going to put back into my home.
I told them in advance that I had my own faucet and that I was just looking for a plumber to come in and replace it. When he got there, he said that according to the policy, they either fix it or then they replace it if they can't fix it. In order for me to install the one that I had, I had to pay them for installation. I've ended up paying the $75 to American Home Shield and additional money for having it installed through the plumber that they sent over. When I called American Home Shield, they were like, "You know this is the policy. They either fix it or replace it. You can’t purchase your own." I was never really told that.

The fridge was leaking water underneath the cool frost compartment. I went through the online application where you can fill up what the issue was and then AHS sent me the link with Sears coming by to fix the issue. The guy came in time and he did everything. He explained to me what happened to the fridge, and drained the water from that, and to defrost it. I'm really satisfied with AHS and how it works. It was easier to file the claim and everything went through.

American Home Shield has always been able to get someone out there for me. I've had to use them for quite a lot of repair and they've been prompt. I had a toilet leaking and the tech from Plumbing Enterprises was there quite a while trying to fix it. The seal had degenerated and he had to replace it. He did a great job and he was clean.

We had a water leak coming from our water heater, the main pipe. The techs were to the point and expressed, unfortunately, that it just needed tightening. But they said if I would have tightened it and something happened, it wouldn't have been covered under home insurance. The experience went well.

The last claim was regarding my washing machine which was out of balance. The shocks and the rotor below had to be replaced. The tech was very polite, attentive, and knew what he was talking about. It was resolved that day and it was smooth. I like American Home Shield.

I called in a claim for the stopped-up master bedroom shower and American Home Shield assigned a plumber, Tex Pro. I talked to them and they showed up. The plumber could not get the screw out of the drain cover so she packed up and left. She said she would call back but she never did. There was a screw that was rusted in the drain cover so I decided I was going to undo the screw and make the drain accessible. When I started to do that, I found out I could rotate the drain cover about the stuck screw and have 100% access to the drain.
I called back Tex Pro quite soon after they were here and told them the drain cover can be rotated around the screw and they can get complete access to the drain. They never returned my call. Then, I called AHS and explained what the problem was. If they did anything, it wasn't evident because I never got another call. I had to pay $168 to get a real plumber to come down here and get the drain cleaned. I told AHS they ought to refund my $75 because Tex Pro didn't do anything. The rep said she had the refund form in her hand and we concluded the phone call. I never heard anything again from AHS.
The assigned company and AHS never communicated with me, except through this letter that came six or seven days after I reported the drain clog and after I had already gotten it fixed. I was really unhappy and I was really considering not renewing my contract, which was due at that time. But then, I had this business with the kitchen sink and they sent Maclin Plumbing. The plumber did such a great job that I changed my mind about American Home Shield and I re-upped my contract.

There was a GFI in my garage that kept tripping. I called American Home Shield and Electrical Service Professionals came out. They replaced the GFI. Then I started experiencing the same problem. So, they came and they stated that it was my freezer that was causing the GFI to trip. When the freezer starts running, it does some type of spike, and it’s causing my GFI to trip.
I've had American Home Shield on and off for years. But this year, it’s about five months now that I signed back with them. Putting in a claim is not complicated. When I had a problem with the washer, it took several weeks, but this electrical problem didn't take long at all. I did have a problem with getting this electrical person to come back to handle this problem. I had to talk to some type of manager and he said that I had a refrigerator and a freezer in my garage. I never told him that. That's not the situation. He really never wanted to come back out. So, that was a little frustrating. When it comes to dealing with different vendors, what American Home Shield does is one thing but what vendors do is something totally different. Sometimes, there are tech attitudes when you're dealing with some of the people that they send out to your house. American Home Shield could provide a closer type of follow-up as the process goes instead of afterwards.

I sent in a claim for the dishwasher and it took me about a week and a half to get an appointment. On the day of the appointment, the guy didn’t come until five o'clock. He said he had a lot of clients ahead of time. When he came and looked at the dishwasher, he said my parts were outdated and that they had to charge me an additional fee to do it. So I said, “No problem. I can pay that.” He said he was gonna come back. But three days in a row, he didn't show up. When I called him, he was negative. He told me that I needed to update my house because it's old. I’ve had other appliances that I had to update. The contractors told me I need to update them. But I didn't get the negative stuff like I got from this guy. I got a lot of negative stuff from this guy. So I requested someone else but Home Shield won’t give me someone else.

I had a rekey and some plumbing stuff done with American Home Shield and those were fine. But I'm disappointed that they can't find somebody to service my refrigerator. It's a Sub-Zero and they said I could find somebody to do the job and they would reimburse me. Any time I got to put the money out, they can deny the claim.

The oven element burned out. I filed a claim and Appliance Express came out about four days later. They replaced the oven element and it was fixed that day.

I had a Central Heating system damage 10-20-2021 and as of today 11-27-2021 the problem has not been resolved. The contractor that they sent ALLRIGHT MECHANICAL INC. is totally incompetent. First they came and even though PG&E recommended replacement of the unit they decided to repair it and before they would do anything I had to pay over $700 to clean the unit. Then they ordered a part to fix it and when they came to install it they discovered that it was the wrong part. Then about 10 days later they came back with the part and supposedly fixed the unit but that day the unit run totally out of control suffocating the tenants who had to call PG&E to stop it. The contractor does not respond to phone calls and AHS is not doing anything to resolve this problem. The contractor was supposed to clean ducts and vents but refused to do it and only cleaned the fan and motor. What a mess, worst experience ever. Don't recommend AHS.

The heater was not getting hot and the guy said that that was the thermostat. So he changed it. But it had an issue again and the second time, the tech said that that was something in the thermostat, so he fixed it. The persons who came out were nice and very professional. Everything has also been functioning very well since the repair.

Lake Area Appliance Service came out for a claim and they did a great job. They were very professional. I was able to do a virtual visit with them to figure out the issue. Then, they sent a tech out after I got the part that I needed to put it.

I had an issue with the icemaker on the refrigerator. It was addressed quickly and professionally on all sides. It's been pretty simple doing the request for service to American Home Shield. I had a claim when my heater wasn't coming on. The guy came out and went upstairs to where the heater is. He moved debris away from it and it worked. So, that was good. He was quick. Then I had a claim for the ice maker in my refrigerator. The contractor came in and I got a new ice maker put in. It was prompt and quick. Everything was good.

Norrods Appliance Repair came out twice. The first time was to diagnose the issue. The refrigerator needed some new valves. But because of the supply chain, it took probably three weeks which we understood. A technician came out to replace it and he seemed like a very nice young man. He had to go to Lowe's to get the part then he installed the new valves and put the tube in. While he was back there, he said the piping was fragile. He put it back and it worked for two days. It felt like he was very rushed and seemed a bit stressed but he said he had just lost his grandfather. He gave me a card but I couldn't find it. I reached out to American Home Shield again but we haven't heard about a schedule yet to fix it. We have some damage on the floor that we'd like to fix, but we can't do that till the refrigerator is working.
It's been a godsend to have American Home Shield in our house. We're waiting for a sewer guy to come today. We just put in a new sewer last year but we're backed up again. It was $6,500 to put the new line in, and the plumber was through American Home Shield.

I've used AHS twice and they've been very efficient. The most recent one was for a plumbing issue. The contractor said it was the faucet and they had to change the shut-off valves underneath the sink. The servicewoman that came and did the work was pleasant. They didn't have the part so they had to come back two days later. But today, I found water down there again so I called up the company and they're coming on Thursday. Before that, there was an issue with a fan that's inside the freezer that circulates the cold air. That's why the icemaker wasn't making ice. The guy came and took the whole freezer apart. He replaced the fan and the icemaker has been working ever since.

Our electricity didn't work as far as the outlet and I got an outstanding tech who worked the issue. Having a home warranty is beneficial. In my situation, the cost for an electrician to come out is more than the $100 plus the repair.

I wanted the AC system checked out because I thought it was running too hard. The gentleman that came checked it over. He said the motor outside on the condenser was running too hard. So he put a condenser on it, a solenoid. The tech was very friendly and helpful. I also had a problem with the roof. The techs that came were really nice and helpful. The only problem I had was after about a month, the roof leaked again. I called them and they came back and fixed the problem. It's been a pleasant experience with AHS.

A-US Air called within 12 hours after we filed the request. They came at a time that they told me that they were going to be there. I asked them to give me a call an hour before arrival. They did that. They spent a good amount of time, but not too long, to figure out what was wrong with it. After that, they told me, “Okay, we have to check on their part.” They got back to me within an hour about the availability of the part, and the schedule for them to come back. They have several schedules for us to choose from, which is really convenient.
They were really polite and knowledgeable. The thing that they fixed doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. Two days after they fixed it, they gave us a call to check on how things were going. If I have to pay out of pocket myself, I will probably use them too, because this is a totally different experience from what we have with other people.
I have an issue with the lighting that has been ongoing. AHS sent the company, A to Z Electric, to come out and fix it. Went away for about three weeks and the problem resurfaced again. They said, "Is it okay if they send the same company?" I was like, “Okay, if they're gonna fix it for good this time.” But the company doesn't have a lot of availability. The way to schedule with them is inconvenient. When I call them, they don't answer the phone. They text me back. When I text them back, they say, “Oh, that availability is no longer available anymore.” We have to figure out other schedules.
It's not a major issue, that is why we didn't persist on sending the provider or getting them to come in to fix it right away. But we would love for things to get fixed, because we got charged every time that they have to come out. But this time, American Home Shield was so nice to say that because it's the same problem, even if over than 30 days, they're gonna waive the second call charge for us.
The problem with American Home Shield is my service call right now is $100. I want to see if I can change it to 75 or lower. Because this is a rental property and my tenant seems to be really picky on everything. So we call them quite a bit of time. In order to share in the service call cost, we have to wait until the end of our annual contract to share it.
I have three properties. My husband also has another in her home in San Francisco. We have been using AHS for many years and we've had a good experience, that's why we keep on renewing our contract. AHS covers what they say that they were going to cover when we have an issue. They explain to us what the issue is. If it's not under the warranty, we would like to know why, and we understand that not everything can be under the warranty.

The back porch GFI is a nightmare. The guy from New Dawn said the front one works, but you can't push the black button, so it's not right. I even had him come back, and it’s still not right. The second electrician came in there and flew through like it was nothing and like I did not matter. He wanted to tell me that everything was fine and he didn't have to fix anything, even though I told him the GFIs are not working. You can see New Dawn did something with the one on the back porch. The back section and the front section are separated, and some kind of tape is involved, and it’s not good.
Something happened during their visits that burned out the motherboard in the stove, and the dishwasher, and the garage door opener. I had to pay $75 to get somebody to come out there to assess the issue. Two of the motherboards were burnt out and we’re waiting for a part. But American Home Shield never sent me a person for the garage door opener. So I had two nightmares with electricity. I don’t like it at all. Neither one of the electricians were good. However, the plumber was good.
The guy that came by to assess the damage with the stove and the dryer was nice. But the New Dawn guy was five hours late and he was so tired when he got there, so he shouldn’t have even been working on my electricity. He said the job before me was very taxing. He even had more work after me, and he was going to do it, unfortunately. You could tell he was so tired, and he could hardly function. I paid $700 for this home warranty, plus $75 twice to different electricians, but my circuit panel is a nightmare. My dryer and my stove, and the garage opener are not working.

The pipe was leaking from the bathroom. The plumber came in to fix it and he was professional. It's not leaking now. But the plumber tore the ceiling down and the ceiling is still open.

We've had American Home Shield every time we've purchased a new property. Recently, we had a plumbing problem. The kids' toilet has not been flushing since we moved to the house. A gentleman came over last week but whatever he did didn't fix the issue and whatever tool he used scratched the toilet bowl. It's a white toilet bowl and now it's full of scratches at the bottom and on the sides. There was another gentleman who came over this afternoon and said that they will be replacing the toilet bowl. He's hoping that that will fix the issue. He was wonderful. We're super happy with American Home Shield. The initial visit didn't fix the problem and but they had a follow up. They're super professional and going to be taking care of it. We have them do some other work around the house as well. I would recommend them.

The compressor outside was extremely noisy. I filed a claim with AHS and got a response in three days. The contractor scheduled someone to come out once I received the call and the guy was nice and knowledgeable. But he said the compressor sounds like it's about to go but it's still technically working. There's nothing they can do until it breaks, so it wouldn't be covered.

Techs came for a claim I had and they were very professional. I was really impressed with them. Unfortunately, they couldn't do what they were asked to do. They didn't handle the Dacor exhaust fan. American Home Shield reassigned another vendor to come. It was Three J and they're coming on Wednesday morning. I am pleased with American Home Shield and everything is going along just fine. It's just nice to know that you have security with the warranty and that the job will get done. But it'd be nice if you didn't have to wait for half an hour on the phone. The nice feature is that I can use a callback, so I don't have to hang on the phone. Also, there's a problem with understanding the person on the other end of the phone periodically. I have to discipline myself to listen. But everyone that I've chatted with has been knowledgeable and helpful. I ended the conversations feeling good about things.

We were told by a refrigerator installer delivery person that the water supply valve for the refrigerator was corroded and wouldn't shut off. I filed a claim and Iplumb came out to check it. The plumber said everything was fine and that it must have been back pressure in the hose.

Had a backup in the main sewer line in my house. Came up and flooded the laundry room at the floor drain. The techs got the main cleaned out and fixed the problem within an hour, and I was very happy. Having AHS has been really convenient for me personally. Every time the thermostat would kick on the furnace, the furnace was making a very loud noise aggressively. Once I've made the appointment and paid the deductible, I got an email saying that a contractor had been contacted and assigned. Then, at some point, the contractor contacted me. I really appreciate the contractor. The guy who came out was very professional. He was very good. He was very thorough, took the time, and answered all my questions. I like the contractors that American Home Shield has and that's why I stayed with them. We've been satisfied with them.

My icemaker broke on my refrigerator, and it would not push any ice out. I called American Home Shield, I paid my deductible, and the guys came out. They diagnosed the issue and had to order a part. They had to go somewhere and pick it up, which took maybe an hour. Then, they came back and they fixed the icemaker quickly.

I had a claim for a stainless steel front loader washer that Brothers Appliance Service came out for. When I filed the claim, the lady from American Home Shield asked me to let her take control of my camera so she could take these photos of the serial numbers and what was wrong inside. I didn't understand that. She did that on my washer and my dryer. When I asked Brothers about it, they knew nothing of it, so I thought it was kind of fishy.
But other than that, I've had Brothers before and when I was trying to set up the appointment for the washer, I told the lady that I would like to have the same person that came before. That tech came out and he had to order parts. But he fixed the little bars inside the washer that toss the clothes to where the little edges would remain down so I could go ahead and use the washer without it carrying my clothes. Then, he was back within three days. He put the parts on and told me that everything seemed to be running fine. He also told me to make sure I call him if I had any trouble. Even if I didn't have AHS, I would use Brothers and I would recommend them to my kids who don't have AHS. Also, I would recommend AHS, especially to younger people. They raised my fee but during the time that I have paid the warranty, I'm sure I'm well over the appliance repair if I would have had to pay it out of my pocket.

I called American Home Shield to let them know that we couldn’t get hot water. That was on a Saturday, and Price Right told me that the soonest they could be out was that following Wednesday. They were fast, efficient and professional. They had to replace a valve that was kind of loose.

The unit was not heating and a contractor with American Home Shield fixed it. However, the contractors need to be a little bit more accountable for the work they do. I had a leak on the garbage disposal. A contractor came and fixed it but there was a leak again. They came again and for every little thing, they said, "This part is covered, but this part is not." The U-shape is covered, but the other shape is not covered. I don't know if the contractors want to make it difficult for us or it's just the rules that apply to them, because, to me, it didn't make sense.

I was having a leak in one of the pool equipment. While the tech from JT Ultimate Pools was doing it, there was another problem with another seal that's also going to create another problem. But they fixed the leak and they took care of the problem. We had another company that came out from American Home Shield and they were very bad. They were trying to fix a problem, instead they created another problem. They broke a valve on my property. He said, “I'm going to go get a valve. I'll come back to you. But let me shut off the gas.” He shut off the gas for the whole house. I had a sick son in the house. My fireplace, my gas stove, the water heater run on it.
I called their company, begged them to come out, and they said, “No. The technician said he only shut it off for the pool.” I said, “That is not true. You guys can come out and check it.” But they still wouldn't send somebody out. I called American Home Shield. I said, “Can you guys do anything with them?” American Home Shield was like, “The best thing we can do is refund you on that $75 that you paid, and that's the only thing we can do.”
I had to buy food for the whole three days that they didn't show up. I said, “If anybody is going to come out again, please make sure it's not them. Because I don't want them on my property ever again.” They were very rude about it. I asked to speak to the owner of the company just to tell her what happened. She would never call me back. AHS is struggling just as much as we are. Maybe they are finding problems getting vendors. But whenever a vendor is doing something horrific like this, not using them would be very wise because I had a bad taste in my mouth because of them. If they did it to me, they are going to do it to somebody else.
Whenever I'm looking for a company, I would make sure it's somebody that's reputable, that's been in business for a long time, that has outstanding contractors that work with them, and somebody that's willing to back me up as a customer. And that's exactly what AHS did. As a customer, they backed me up. It was fixed by sending another company out that came in and fixed the problem instead of making a problem. So, that was very nice.

There was a hose up underneath the dishwasher that had backed off and it had come detached enough that it had been leaking. We didn't know that it was leaking for a week or so until I noticed that my hardwood floor was starting to bubble. American Home Shield assigned a contractor to us and this was the second time that they were here. They fixed my icemaker before and they were very professional and clean. They did their job and got it done. They were in and out. I like them better than anybody American Home Shield sent out.
American Home Shield is wonderful and it keeps us free. We're older people and when something goes bad, it's nice to have somebody to call. They take the stress off knowing that you don't have to deal with setting up appointments and figuring out whether the service people are going to fix the issue. With American Home Shield, the technicians say that we can call back if something is not fixed and there's not going to be a $100 charge. The cost is reasonable. My only complaint is American Home Shield raised me a little bit and they didn't contact me to let me know they were gonna do that.
I also sent them a complaint about my furnace when it went out a while back during the summer. The technician that came wasn't really professional and he was scroungy-looking. He wasn't really a technician and he couldn't fix the furnace. American Home Shield got back with me and said that was just the process now. I was without air conditioning and it was a holiday in July. I had family in from Nebraska. It was three days later before American Home Shield got anybody else. I waited two days for the first technician to come then I had to wait again. It was not a fun thing. When the other guy came, he knew what he was doing and he fixed the furnace. But that shouldn't have been that long of a process.

Recently, we had two ceiling fans that broke and the tech from Luna Luce was friendly and very fast. He said to give him a call if we have any problems and he would come right back out. We were able to do a buyout so we could pick our own new fans and have them installed. That was really nice. I've recommended American Home Shield to a couple of my friends. We've had mostly good experiences with them since we've been with them.

The ice maker wasn't working. Swift Appliance Repair came out, they had to order a part, and then they came back last week to install that part. The ice maker is still not working though. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. Their claims process is easy and their reps always answered my questions or give me the information that I need. However, I would like to see AHS repair what I asked for. They deny most of my claims.

We had two calls already with American Home Shield and I really enjoyed them. The people were very professional and gave great service. They answered a lot of questions. I was very impressed. We had a pool service and a plumber come out. Both the contractors went above and beyond and explained the situation very well. I'm a real estate agent and I deal with home warranty companies all the time. I will be using American Home Shield home warranties from now on for my clients.
One of the other home warranty companies that I've used, we've had a struggle getting my clients to get their portal to work so they can order stuff. It seems like it's been on a two-week lag time, whereas ours with American Home Shield seems to be activated and set up right away. It was very user-friendly and easy to schedule our service calls. As soon as we scheduled them, we were contacted by both the plumber and the pool guy immediately. I'm impressed with who they align themselves with for the vendors and the simplicity of everything and it was ready to go right away when we needed it.

I had two or three running toilets in my house, which caused my water bill to go up to hundreds of dollars. I called American Home Shield and at first, they didn't listen to what I was asking to be done. They put one toilet when I said there were two to three toilets in my house. They also did not put down a water leak when I said there was a possible water leak.
The first contractor AHS assigned to me never called. I called AHS back and told them that. While I was on hold, they called the contractor and said the contractor was gonna call me in the afternoon. But never received the call. I had to call AHS back and I wait a long time again for them to get the contractor changed. This all started on a Thursday and it was Monday or Tuesday that I called and said that nobody called me.
I asked if High Priority was still on AHS' list and they were and they had openings for appointments. I finally got them to come out and it was a Wednesday. They first called and they talked to me about what my problems were and what I was trying to get done. That was when they said, "According to the thing from AHS, it says toilet. We can only look at one toilet. And if you have more than one toilet possibly leaking, then we need that changed."
High Priority transferred me over directly to AHS. I waited until they answered and finally, I talked to them again and that's when they changed it to me having more than one toilet. I had to hang up then High Priority called me back. They said the changes were made on the request and they scheduled an appointment for me next day. That's why I chose High Priority because I can trust them and they actually come out and respond to the call.
The High Priority tech told me everything. He put the covers on his shoes and checked the toilets. He found the one in my master bedroom and the one downstairs in the main level were running. The tech told me, "If it runs like this, you're looking at gallons and gallons of water just going through your system, and that's why your bill was so high." He went out and looked at my meter to see if it was running. He said, "You can check the meter, and if it's continually going and you don't have any water running, then you have a leak underground." He fixed the issue and he did something to the inside. He showed me that the toilets were not running. Since then, I haven't had that running going on.
I'm really satisfied with High Priority. I've had them several times and they've always done well. But I'm canceling my AHS. They were not very productive. I had to make several calls to get the right thing done. It takes so much time. My sister had AHS and she canceled it too. You get repair after repair then they say they are gonna replace something and that is gonna be three months.

American Home Shield is a good system. I dropped it, and then I got back into it. I have quite a few systems in the house that still needed coverage. The first time I dropped it was after I replaced one of three air conditioners, which I had been worried about. It just made more sense to have everything covered. Most recently, I did a claim on the cleaner pump on the pool. It sprung a bad leak and it was draining quite a bit of water to the pool. It was original and it was like 17 years old. The overall claim process for it was pretty quick. I called them up and they came out a couple days later. The guy confirmed it was a bad pump, and I had to wait to get it ordered. Everything works great now.

The furnace went out Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. I called AHS and the representative told me that she would be getting ahold of Jungle Cat, the contractor, on Monday. It was so cold so I asked if she could expedite it but the contractor came out on Monday. The furnace was repaired that same day, though, and it's been working great.

The air and the heat weren't cutting on and off. Nothing was working. I called the 800 number of AHS and submitting the claim was easy. I got an email and a text message saying that the work order was processed and they'd be contacting me soon. The techs were good and everything is fine now. I'm very satisfied with AHS. Whenever I have an issue, if I call, within the next day, I'll have somebody out to look at the problem. It's quick.

American Home Shield is doing fine. I have more of a problem with the people they outsource. My hot water heater is still not taken care of. It's still leaking and I'm hoping it doesn't bust my basement that's furnished. It's been since November 8th. The contractor has never called me though I've called them personally. American Home Shield has contacted them several times too.

In the past, we've had people come out to do the service, that even though we paid the deductible, it appeared that they were doing their best to try to find a way to add additional charges, like as if they were using American Home Shield as their foot in the door to get something else, and that's an unpleasant experience because the whole reason we're paying for that is it's supposed to be all covered. It might have improved already because this last time with the dishwasher, the people didn't try to do that. They were timely and they ordered the parts. It was a good experience.

I sent in a claim for two stoves. With one stove, the electric igniter wasn't working on the burners. The contractor resolved that in two visits. They were very efficient and professional. On the other stove, the oven wasn't working at all. They resolved that the first time they came out. Everything worked out like clockwork.

When I called AHS, it was a little bit cumbersome. I had to call more than once. After we got through the robots, it got better. When the tech, Michael, came out, he was following up on an initial call where the problem was not completely fixed. But Michael fixed it. He was personable and knowledgeable. When he says he's going to do something, he does it.

I bought the house in May and some of the appliances are not brand new. A few things have broken down and for one year, they have to come out at least three times before anything gets fixed. Then, a dishwasher needed to be replaced and I wish that it could have been fixed. But they said they couldn't get the part anymore so they replaced it. It was a high-end KitchenAid dishwasher but I believe they replaced it with the cheapest model possible. They could have provided a better replacement. I'm afraid that if the other items break and need to be replaced, they're going to give me the cheapest models possible.
The people on the phone are not the best, as well. They don't seem to understand what I'm saying sometimes and they ask the same question over and over. They make you take pictures and install the camera. Then the person comes and they have to do the same thing. They're wasting my time. I'm waiting for the contractor to come and look at the microwave tomorrow. The microwave is not working now and I'm hoping for the best on that.

I like AHS's professionalism. They've always referred really good people besides this last person. The company canceled and rescheduled. Then they said they came by and no one was home. They did not and I was home the entire day. So, I called them and said, “No, someone needs to come out. Because I've been sitting home all day. And I've been waiting over a month because you guys canceled and this was the rescheduled date.”
The next time they could do it was the day before or the day after Thanksgiving which was just ridiculous because I had been without a dishwasher for two months at that time. It was damaging my floors because the water would leak onto my floors when I wash dishes. Then there was a foul smell. But other than that, they have been really responsive with any of my concerns that I've had with the contractor people to come out. They’ve been very helpful. The last company, Appliance Professional was awesome. The tech couldn't fix my dishwasher because he needed some other part. So he was fine.

Originally, the garbage disposal broke. AHS replaced the garbage disposal but it is a smaller one. I had a big heavy-duty garbage disposal in there. So, then I noticed the water started backing up. I called it back in. I didn't think there was something wrong. The tech came over, and cut the plastic piece that's in the garbage disposal. He said it was too big that's why the water was backing up. My sink is still backing up with water.

It's more preferable to file claims online because when I've called in before, they're all from the Philippines, and I can't understand anything they're saying. Their accent is so thick. In my recent claim, I didn't have heat and JW Ultra Air Heating & Cooling was dispatched. They had a gentleman named Moe who came out and he told me that I had a broken part and it had to be replaced. And so, I didn't have any heat for about seven or eight days. Then the part finally came in and they called me and they put it in that day. Overall, I like American Home Shield. They did a good job.

My stovetop stopped working and Glyn's Appliance Repair Service came out. They had to order a part for one of the eyes on the stove but they fixed what they could when they came out so that we can continue using the stove until they brought back the other one. They did a great job. The only thing was I didn't know that I can call AHS for more than one appliance at a time. The door of the refrigerator broke and I didn't want to call in because that was $100 but I didn’t know I could’ve put it on the other claim.

I was having problems with my hot water. The tech that came out was from Greenway. He took parts off my water heater and he was supposed to change a part but that part never worked. He said that I needed a new hot water heater. But mine was technically a new hot water heater and it hasn’t even been in this house for six years. When I called American Home Shield, they sent me an email telling me that Greenway was gonna charge me a thousand and some dollars to bring things up to code and put in a hot water line or cold water line. I said no and asked for them to bring the part.
I called another plumber and this was the one that originally put the hot water heater in. He stated that there was nothing wrong with my hot water heater and that parts were missing from it. I complained to American Home Shield and to Greenway but they still did not return the parts. I had to pay to get new parts for me to get hot water. The only issue I have with American Home Shield is they don't cover this and that. They would cover the hot water heater but they were not going to cover what Greenway was saying needed to be done. They reported the water heater to be busted but I told American Home Shield that was not the case.
When looking for warranty services, ask about what is covered and how often is the fee gonna go up once you place a call. I'm paying $96 a month and I had to pay American Home Shield a thousand and some dollars to get something done. Check the warranty and make sure it is something that you want and you're interested in.

AHS sent Express for an AC claim on a rental property. The tech changed the heating coil and then he came back and said it was the transformer. He had to get a transformer and the unit ultimately came on. It went pretty well with Express, although the tech that was originally gonna come out got sick. They said they could reschedule me a week later but I told them my tenant has been in there for a week and they worked with me.

Initially, the first person that was assigned for the microwave didn't come. He didn't work out in the area where I live, so American Home Shield had to reassign the claim to Champs Construction. A repairman came out a couple of days after and fixed it. I got an email the same day to get a replacement microwave. When the hot water heater was leaking from the bottom, American Home Shield assigned the order that same day, and the contractor came out the next day. It was fixed fairly quickly.

The compressor was broken and the tech came out the first time and assessed it. He was very professional. He placed an order, came back a few days later and had it up and running. It was good. But the contractor is gonna come back to recheck it because something’s still wrong with it.

A contractor fixed the door hinge that was leaking on my washer right away. But they had to come back for my ice maker. It should be working now but it seems that they are having challenges getting that fixed. I got a message to call them tomorrow if there's no ice in the morning. I hope they won't have to come back because this will be the third time. American Home Shield is being responsive to it but it's the people working on it. I've had American Home Shield for years and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with this. Everything else has been perfect. One thing they've really improved on is answering their phone. They must have gotten a new call center or hired people. It's a thousand times better.

The idea that we have a warranty kind of makes me more at ease but so far, I haven't seen anything good. The first claim I had was a week after we moved in. I saw a drop of water on the floor right next to the toilet. I called American Home Shield and they realized that this was pre-existing and they wouldn't cover it. Also, I scheduled a rekey service twice and nobody has shown up.
Then, last Sunday, the water started coming out way too hot and I barely touched the knob to the hot water and it was so hot. I had a cleaning crew come in to do the floors and I wanted them to disinfect it. They started using the hot water and they started complaining that the water was boiling. The following morning, there was no hot water. I called American Home Shield and told them they need to send a technician to check the heaters.
They sent a technician who was very rude. I don't like his attitude. But he checked the water heaters and told me that both heaters were messed up. I asked him for details and he was one of those people that did not want to be at work that day. I was left with the impression that he has very little to say. Then he said he needed to take it up with AHS and that I needed a tankless water heater. He kept saying that I needed to pay $5,500 to get a tankless water heater. I said I need to talk to AHS first and he said he would put that in his notes. He would not actually look at my eyes and tell me what the problem was.
I was very unsettled after he left because he wouldn't tell me whether the heaters need to be replaced or whether they need to be repaired. He wouldn't say anything other than they were messed up. He changed a different word later on before he was leaving and said, “Both heaters are busted inside.” I asked him to elaborate on what busted means and he wouldn't tell me. He just walked away, made me sign the document that he had come here to collect his 75 bucks, and then he left. Then I called AHS and they said it would take 24 to 72 hours. But I called Friday and they said that they still don't have any notes. Is this guy actually competent to go into the house and give an estimate like this? To this day, I do not know what the problem is and I'm without hot water. I am still waiting for AHS to call me.

When I put in a claim, it is normally timely that American Home Shield's contractor comes out to service the equipment. Recently, a technician came out and looked at three appliances. However, he wouldn't look at the icemaker because he said that we needed a plumber to turn the water off behind the refrigerator which was not true because American Home Shield sent a plumber out who said everything was fine. There was a shut-off and the guy just didn't move the refrigerator to see that it was a shut-off.
The same technician also said that there was a screw missing in my dishwasher. American Home Shield said that they couldn't repair it because there was a part missing. There's no screw missing so I'm going to call American Home Shield again to let them know that they need to send another person out for the dishwasher because the person who should have fixed the icemaker didn't. There were three things going on and the only thing that was repaired by that technician was the stove. Another technician came and repaired the icemaker. However, the dispenser where the ice comes out in the front is still not working so he's supposed to come back this week.

I used to have a warranty before and when I had a plumbing issue, the plumbing was covered, but none of the secondary damage or access to the actual issue was covered. American Home Shield was good with explaining that when I first signed up. Recently, I had water leaking from a pipe in my guest bathroom out onto the drywall in the living room floor. Infinity Plumbing capped and replaced it. I've had a great experience with them. Overall, I've had a faster response time with American Home Shield than I do with my home insurance.

The AC unit wasn't working at all. The tech that was sent for it was exceptional. I'd use him again. He came out in a timely manner and he fixed the unit. It's working now. I'm glad I have American Home Shield. My sister-in-law has been talking about it for a long time and I just decided to get it and I'm pleased. I highly recommend it.

American Home Shield has prompt service and I get somebody most of the time right away. We had a claim for our dryer that quit working. When I put in the claim, I put it under electrical because I thought there was something wrong with the electrical circuit board. The tech that came was professional, looked at everything, and was very thorough. But he said they don't do dryers so the issue is not yet resolved.

I opened up a claim on the AHS website late at night for a broken washer. Then I received an email a few hours later saying they had assigned the case out to a contractor and I would be hearing from them. They emailed me again the following day saying if I hadn't heard from the contractor, to go ahead and reach out to them. So they were responsive and quick. The contractor was able to diagnose the issue fairly quickly from the symptoms of the washer. It was declared unrepairable so they replaced it. I was able to select the replacement off of the American Home Shield selection and I'm still waiting for the replacement to get here. I've only opened up two claims with American Home Shield in over a year that I've had a contract with them and they've been excellent to deal with.

I'm very pleased with AHS. I've been with them for 30 years. I had them with my other house years ago. I had a claim for my heating and air and they replaced the unit. It was a quality unit. American Home Shield takes a lot off our shoulders. I really like it. I've always had great customer service and timely responses. The people who have shown up to fix the appliances or whatever we needed have been great. The tech for the washer showed up when he said he would and went right downstairs. I was down there with him while he was fixing it and he talked me through everything. He told me what to check in the future so that when I call someone out, I could give them a better understanding of what's wrong.
Make sure that you buy the best plan that covers the most stuff. Because you might have something that you think you won't need, and then that will be the only thing that breaks down. Always go for it. You'll pay a little more in the beginning, but it's worth it.

I recently had a discrepancy with American Home Shield because we had purchased the house and we transferred over our contract. And the day that my contract was active with the new house, they told me that they couldn't fix our water heater because it was a pre-existing issue, which was not. So, we had to come out of pocket for that one, even though we were paying AHS to be covered for that. I was also out the service money that I had to pay on top of my monthly. They had two other companies come out and look at it and one said they could fix it, and I guess one said that was because they said it was pre-existing, which I don't understand.
The other thing is the contractor comes out to check for issues when we make the appointment, and the company has to go back through AHS before they could do anything if it's a bigger job. Let's say drywall is damaged from a leak. So, they don't fix it. They have to call and get approval through their approval side of things. In the meantime, secondary damage could be done because they have to have it approved before they could come out and fix it.

The door handle on my refrigerator had broke and somebody came, he saw what needed to be ordered, ordered the part, called me when the part came in, and came in and installed it. So, it was handled quickly. I just wish American Home Shield had a quicker process. One time, I had an issue with my AC and it took the tech almost a week before they could come out. And with certain things, I feel like there should be a process that can be escalated. They could have different providers that can come within 24 hours or 48 hours for certain instances. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very helpful for me. They helped me when I had a water heater go out. With the AC problem that I had that ended up being an electrical problem, it just took a long time to kind of fix it, but they assisted with that. I have the electronic thing, so I was able to get the money back for the TV because they couldn't fix it. So, overall, they've been pretty good.

We had a leaky valve in the faucet. APC Plumbing provided good service. The guy was friendly, knowledgeable and got the job done right the first time. I don't have a problem at all recommending either AHS or the contractors they use. When we needed something repaired, AHS was Johnny-on-the-spot. I can be all the way across the other side of the world and they are fast, friendly, and reliable. I don't have to second guess what's going on.

My microwave had a mind of its own and was turning on and off by itself. Also, there was a leak in my dishwasher and the guy came out and figured out everything in literally 10 minutes. Juan, the rep, was amazing. He called when he got the parts in and he came and put them in. I was extremely satisfied. I used to have Choice Warranty and they were crappy so I switched to American Home Shield and things have been great. It was the first time I’ve ever used it so I was very pleased.
The claims process is cool because AHS has a system where they can call you and look at the issues you're having at the same time. The only issue that I have is that they don’t have a lot of people who are working to come out to fix things. So, it took a month for the tech to come out. People should ask a lot of questions before signing because we didn't do that previously and there were some fine line things that they didn't tell us about. Before I decided to go with AHS, I did that because I needed to make sure that things would be covered if I called them.

My double oven worked on a Sunday and didn't work on a Monday. I called and placed the claim, and American Home Shield scheduled like they normally do. They scheduled someone to come out within 20 to 48 hours. The person was supposed to come out Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The timing was not a big deal as far as Thanksgiving. At 1 o'clock in the afternoon, the guy cancelled and said that they didn't have a technician to come out as I sat in my house from 8:00 to 5:00 waiting for someone to show up. I had to take off from work. AHS needs to try to find contractors who are going to show up. Because when you have customers sitting in their homes with a window from 8:00 to 5:00, and these yo-hos call at 1:00 and say, “Oh, by the way, we're not coming,” it's annoying.
So, I called AHS and I got a girl on the phone. I said, “Look, I've been with you guys for years and I'm supposed to have service between 24 to 48 hours. Him canceling at the last minute is unacceptable. I want someone out here today.” She told me that she couldn't do it. So, I told her to cancel my contract and she was wonderful. She got on the phone, found Joe's Appliance Repair and he was an hour away from me. He has been here before to service my dishwasher. He said he could come right out and he did. Unfortunately, he didn't have the parts to fix it because they were a special order thing. He ordered them. AHS approved them right away. He showed up here the following Wednesday to fix my oven. It is fixed.
But I am going to tell AHS when I put my service requests in for any appliances that I want them to specifically call him. Because we're in an area down here where service people are horrible. And if you find somebody who is willing to come out and is half decent, then you need to hold on to that person. And that is definitely him. In the long run, a warranty saves you money. When we had my previous home, we had our heater system go out. AHS replaced it and all I had to pay for was the refrigerant. So, the program pays for itself.

I've been with American Home Shield off and on for 30 years. They're courteous when they answer the phone. You can get them quickly. I've always enjoyed working with them. However, there's a big variety of contractors in Houston where I moved from but there's not so many in this area. Usually, with American Home Shield, somebody calls you the same day but on this claim for the dryer, I didn't get a call in a couple of days. I called Tri-county and asked them what we were going to do. The rep said, "Let me walk you through some of the things you can do to make sure that we really need to come out there." She had me doing all this stuff to my dryer, trying to fix it. I told her, "I'll do all this but I know it's an electrical issue that I'm not going to be able to fix."
I spent a day working on the dryer. I called twice to get Tri-County to call me back. I left a message but it did nothing. I still needed a service appointment and didn't get a call back. I called American Home Shield and told them what was going on and immediately got a call back from Tri-County. American Home Shield did everything they needed to do. It was a matter of Tri-County not having the staff to make all the calls they were getting. They came out, diagnosed the issue and ordered the parts. A week later, they came back out. It took them 10 minutes to replace the part and everything was fine.

There was a small hole in one of the AC ducts and over time, there was a little bit of cold air coming out of there. I reached out to American Home Shield and I explained to them what was going on and it was covered under the warranty. So they sent out a technician and she sealed it up. Our air conditioning was not working properly and it was the thermostat that was causing the issue. The claims reps from American Home Shield were very nice, understanding and helpful. They sent me the name of the company and a phone number so if I would not have heard from them reaching out to me, I would have been able to contact them as well. The gentleman who came out was extremely courteous and professional. He diagnosed the problem and put a new thermostat on. The service was excellent. The issue was solved and everything is working properly. I would recommend AHS. It’s a good thing to have.

The tech from Cactus Garage Doors didn't have great bedside manners but he took care of the problem. He showed up in a timely fashion and did an adequate job. He changed the motherboard and I had some questions, which he answered. The garage door was good for a couple of days but then I had the same problem again. It was opening and closing all by itself. I called up to tell them that I needed somebody to come back. I was at work and I was a little stressed out. I don't know whatever was going on with the girl that answered the phone but it just was a little much for me.
I ended up hanging up and then calling American Home Shield asking if I could have a different company come out. They said that I'd have to pay a $75 claim again, which I didn't want to do but I didn’t wanna deal with that person again. I went through and called them this morning. They've scheduled somebody to come out. But I've cancelled the claim because I'm just gonna replace the garage door opener.

The dishwasher stopped draining so I filed a claim with AHS and I was contacted by the contractor in two days. Then, around a week or so, they came out and did the work. It took them about 20 minutes to diagnose the issue and they had to order parts. It took them two weeks to get the parts in and they finished the repair yesterday.

American Home Shield has been great. I've used the portal and it seems very intuitive. It's been easy to select the issue and get an appointment. But I did have one claim that was a little problematic. The guy kept rescheduling and couldn't make it. So American Home Shield took control and found somebody else that was able to come. We also had somebody out for a boiler the other day and they were very good.

I submitted a claim for my unit through the Home Shield's website. It seemed pretty easy and straightforward. At first, I got a notification that someone would be contacting me. Then I got a notification of who the company was and their phone number. Not too long after that, I got a phone call. The first guy came out and he replaced something on the unit and said that it should be cooling after that. The AC ran for four hours straight and it wasn't cooling. My unit faces north. So, it doesn't get really hot. I just noticed that it shouldn't take so long for it to cool. So, I reopened the claim up and called Crispy Air. The rep had me on hold so that she could call the tech. Then she told me that the tech told her that it looked like something else was going out on the unit. So, she said that she was going to be sending out a senior tech out over here to fix it. He came out and they replaced some motor and not too long after that, it started working.
Crispy Air has been out here multiple times since they're the only ones that can really service condos. My unit is on the top floor. I've never had any issues with them. They did a good job. I used to work for First American Homebuyers Protection and I know that they can share the same contracts as some of the companies from American Home Shield. I would pick Home Shield over First American Homebuyers any day. I've seen more issues working at First American than watching my dad have Home Shield and him have no issues and then replaced things with no problem.

We called in two claims. One was toilet repair and the other was a leak that was coming from our master bedroom to our second floor family room. The technician stated that it was due to the faucet in the master tub that needed a filter replacement. So he stated that, “You should call Moen to get the part, and then we'll come back out and install it.”
We called Moen and within two days, the part came. Moen sent the part and an entire replacement. So they sent more than enough. But when the technician came to the house, he started talking about his personal stuff and it had nothing to do with the work. Then he didn’t have enough tools. You could tell he didn't know what he was doing because he kept messing with it a lot. You kept hearing this turning, and twisting, and turning, and stuff was dropping. I would go up and watch him. Then he stated, “Oh, I don't think this is the right part. I'm going to have to come out another day. But you should be fine, what I temporarily did.” But sure enough, it even leaked more.
We called back to American Home Shield and we stated that they need to send another company back out. They said, “We’ll try to get someone out there to you guys. Here are these two companies.” But we never received a call back. At that time, the agent from American Home Shield said, “Just shut off the main water for the house.” So I stated to him, “If I shut off the main water to the house, I have a family of five, we’d have no access to water.” So that was what happened all weekend. Every time we needed water, we needed to maintain or watch the tub so it wouldn’t drop down to the second floor.
I kept trying to call Brick Street over and over and over again, but it would go right to voicemail. We finally got a call back from Brick Street. The lady called us late Sunday night and she said, “Hey, we haven't gotten anybody out to you. I’d try to get somebody to you on Tuesday at the earliest.” In the meantime, we were complaining to American Home Shield and we were getting nowhere. When Tuesday came around, I got a call from Brick Street saying the plumber called out sick. At this point, they never came back. But we had to get the issue fixed. So we took our own money and spent it outside of our insurance with American Home Shield. A plumber came and he used everything he needed and repaired it within 45 minutes.
A week later, Brick Street called us and asked, “Are you okay? Has the issue been resolved?” We told them that we were gonna report them and that they were a terrible business. At the same time, we put a complaint in at American Home Shield. But we were never reimbursed for paying for our repair outside of their plumbing company. So nothing was ever rectified from the entire issue. Trying to get through to talk to someone was also a task that slowed the process. We kept being automated to a system, and then it would say, “We’d call you back.” But we never got a call back.

I had Reliable Plumbing come out and take care of two issues, a leak in the bathroom, one in the commode, which they took care of and my water heater. They made an adjustment and the water heater is not working. They did a pressure check at the hose bibb and we also have a pressure regulator on the hose bibb and now it's leaking. But they took care of the issue quickly. We were about four days without hot water. Other than that, it was okay.

My washer went out in Sep of 2021. On my dashboard the work order was closed and said possible replacement. I received a email stating they would give me $379.00 for a thousand dollar washer or they would order parts. I let them order parts and waited my 6 weeks. I called them and got nowhere with customer service. I had to call sales and told them I want out of my contract. They asked why and sent me to another department. That department was a bust and they sent me to another person. Her name was Cladia and she stated that they would have a answer in 24 hours and I would receive a phone call.
That time came and went so I called them again. Got the same basic run around until they got me to appliance replacement department. They again said they need 48 hours for an answer. I asked, "When is the drop dead time for a answer." Again I was told there is no deadline for answer. I asked if it could take another 3 or 6 months. The answer was, "Quite possible." Every time I have a repair I go through this same process. Customer service only has certain responses to questions. They cannot connect you to a supervisor. They say a supervisor will contact you in 24 hours. Twice I call back about supervisor when they don't call. The service people suck. Would highly recommend shopping elsewhere for insurance if you value customer service.

I had an air conditioning system leak and the contractor came in two days. I showed the service technician where the problem was. He didn't do a whole lot of diagnostic from there and fixed the problem. It was not the most impressive repair that I've seen. He cut some PVC piping and just left it in the yard without even telling me he was doing that. It's not a huge thing to address, but he could have been a little more professional about it.
Also, the repair he did in the attic was haphazard. There was a drain line from the evaporator unit that he ended up propping up with a plastic water bottle which wasn't very professional. He could've used a strap, hung it from the ceiling or supported it in some other way, but he chose not to do that. So, it felt like he was rushing and not doing a thorough job.

American Home Shield's claim process is fairly smooth in comparison to other companies. We recently had a leaking shower drain and the techs they sent did the repair the day that they came out. They were pretty professional and efficient at getting the job done. AHS has also improved in terms of the customer service and having a representative that understands your claim. When you call in and speak with someone, it's a little bit easier relaying information.

I paid $75 for the contractor to clean the furnace and at that time, I told them that I was having problems with my thermostat. They had to write another ticket up and I had to pay $100 and I was thinking how come they couldn't look at the furnace at that time. It wasn’t American Home Shield but the company. They were saying they couldn't do a repair on the ticket so, that guy left me the number and I called and set up the appointment. The tech was very nice, professional and friendly. He came in and got what had to be done when he found out that I needed a thermostat. The same guy came back the next day and did a fabulous job. But this was initiated by American Home Shield by what came through my email. So, I hope that if anything else happens in the future, it will go that smoothly.

The AC wasn't cooling. It wasn't cutting on. When I called American Home Shield to submit the claim, I couldn't understand what the reps were saying. It was terrible. There was a lady that acted like she was going to sleep. It was difficult. When we finally got in touch with a man, it wasn't too long after they really got on top of it. Comfort Heating and Cooling was real nice. They came out and did the job. So far, the AC is operating good. But it's so difficult to get in touch with American Home Shield.

Technicians come out to my house to fix my air condition when it gets hot and in the wintertime but never fix the problem. They had me spend money for a private electrician and it's not the electrical panel that has been updated. They didn't put the original equipment back into the unit and it's causing it to constantly have a shortage. I'm back into winter now and they told me it was my thermostat. It's not. It has something to do with their system that constantly shuts off. Every technician that comes put a wire and hotwire it so that the heater will run. But in the summertime, when I need to switch back to cooling, they have to come back out and remove that wire. So they never solve my problem. I've been having problems with my air conditioner for over eight years and they never send the same technician to do the job. They need to send the same tech out.
It's not fair to the other air condition guys that come out because I noticed that it's first available, and usually, first available is not the best guys. Because AHS just sends service techs and some of them just know the basics. And it seemed like the quicker they respond, the worse they are. The guys that you have to wait for, they're the good guys. This is just one guy and he's trying to answer all the calls. And if AHS sent me a good guy and I want him to come back, they wouldn't send them back. Because I understand that the first available guy could be the cheapest quote and might not be the best guy.
Every technician is going behind each other. And that's what makes service bad because they are just doing what they need to do to move on. They tell American Home Shield they change parts that I believe that they did not change because I'm having the same problem. I'm at the point now where I've had so many service calls about my unit, it’s almost like they need to replace it because I didn't do the damage. It's the technicians that they sent out that did and I'm suffering for it. Now it's cold and my unit is not working. My wife just recently put a service call in and she canceled it, then she called back because the unit kicked on on its own. We went three days, it was 47 degrees, and we had to buy electric heaters and plug it in in the house, and the unit kicked on so now the unit is kicking on and kicking off, and it's still some kind of short problem.
When they come out to fix my plumbing, that is excellent. They come and fix it, and they move on. Our electrical, they just left me hanging so they forced me to the point where I know I got insurance that is supposed to help me. But I ended up having to spend out-of-pocket to do it myself because I couldn't afford to wait.
I have had AHS send a contractor to work on my refrigerator during the quarantine and they got it up going. I understand it was hard to order parts, but even that process and me waiting and dealing with that was better than me dealing with my air conditioning service. I had to wait for six months or more for a refrigerator. In the meantime, they kept the old one running until the new one came in. And they treated me good compared to what I have to deal with with my air condition and heating unit, which is still a nightmare.

American Home Shield’s service is great. I had to call them a couple of times when I couldn’t get into the website for some reason, and they assisted me. They're a good company. normally go online to request for service. They're really quick to reply when I put in a request. Normally, there's somebody there a couple of days quicker. They always send out reputable people to do the work, and they've always got the issue fixed.

There's a lot of stuff that I had covered before that they don't cover anymore. They went up on the price and then gave us less coverage. I didn't appreciate that. I had them replace my garbage disposal before but with my new contract, I had to pay out of pocket for a replacement. I don’t have money to give away every month just for them to be taking my little fees and then when I call them, they're not covering it.

It's really easy going through the claim process. I log on to the website and American Home Shield pretty much provides all the different types of symptoms that I may have. I click on it, hit okay, and I would be done in less than a minute. The only issue I may have is with the email they send out when the contractor is going to come out. I'm assuming maybe American Home Shield just contracts somebody out and they really don't know when the contractor is going to come out. But the contractor calls me and lets me know when. Other than that, everything else seems pretty seamless. I had a claim when my toilet and shower were backing up. A&M Plumbing came out and ran a snake and unclogged it in about 45 minutes.

The claims submission process wasn't awful but when I had a garage door issue, it took almost two weeks to get it done. There was multiple rescheduling. I heard that American Home Shield was better than other companies but it was still bad. American Home Shield should have better customer service. They reschedule many times because the technicians couldn’t get to me and then having to spend another 500 in addition to the copay makes me think that I’m not going to renew next year.

I like the process of how to report a claim. It is very simple online. I like the short time it takes to get back to me with a contractor. So far, I've been very pleased with the quality of the contractors. When the icemaker in our refrigerator stopped working, the contractor fixed it promptly. My upstairs air conditioning and heating lost power, and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and got a call back. But it was four days before the tech came out. It happened over a holiday weekend so that was the problem. I put a second ticket on so I can just have my downstairs serviced and from start to finish, the tech was at the house for an hour and a half. He was very quick and knowledgeable. He explained what the issue was and what he did to correct the issue. I have nothing but high marks for him. This is the second time that I've had to use AHS since I've had them and both times, it has been a good experience. I would highly recommend them.

N & K did a great job on the refrigerator. The tech knew exactly what the thing was, where the coils are and defrosted them. He said he needed to order a part and he cleaned up. They came back within a matter of days and replaced the part. AHS could improve their process. They expect the customer to know a lot about everything. We don't get to talk to anybody. Everybody is off in La La Land somewhere. I have to open the ticket. I have to tell them everything is wrong. They wouldn't have had to order a part if I had been talking to somebody that knew what I was talking about, but I said the refrigerator didn’t get cold anymore. The model number was easy to find. But, there's no customer service anymore. When you get somebody, they’re in another country. They don't speak the same language that I speak so there’s a lot of, “Excuse me?” cause I don't know what they're saying and they don't know what I'm saying.

I like American Home Shield. They've been quick to get me assistance. Everything worked out fine. I'm happy with them. I had a claim for the furnace and there's a fuse box in there and it was turned upside down, which caused this problem that all we were getting was auxiliary air and it wasn't heating. So the tech fixed the fuse box and it was back to heating.
We pay American Home Shield $50.99 a month. The only thing is that we have to pay $100 right up front when we'd make a request, which is fine. It pays for itself eventually because I know if they had to replace my heating system, it would have been very expensive. I've also had to call and make a request for when I had some problems under the sink, and they fixed that for me. I'm very glad we have American Home Shield because things aren't getting better.

The upper shelf on the dishwasher came off the track. A young man came out and did a very good job. He was informative and he showed me why I was having the problem and that nothing was really broken. I just didn't know I didn't know that there's a latch that I had to close so that when I pull out the upper shelf all the way out, it doesn't come off the track.
One thing about American Home Shield is you always have to wait a long time to get through to them when you have a claim. This time, it was interesting. They sent me a download so that I could take pictures of the problem so that they could see it right as I was speaking with them. I liked the service but it was cumbersome because I've never done that before. There should be some tutorial on it.
People ought to have coverage and what to look for in one is how quick the response time is. American Home Shield was quick this time. But I had times that there was a wait time. What American Shield has done since I first started with them is if you call for one appliance and they ask you if you're having any issues with any other appliance, you can bundle it all together for that same one fee. I like that.

I had to pay for the new refrigerator and I charged it to my credit card. I have to pay the credit card but I haven't been reimbursed yet. They said it takes a while to get reimbursed and that put me in a bit of a bind because instead of paying my card off in full like I always do, I'm going to have to pay part of it and I'll have to pay interest. Other than that, AHS has been fantastic. They fix whatever problems I've had immediately. Also, the technicians have been wonderful and pleasant. They work nicely and they come in wearing masks -- I don't have to ask them. I had the replacements for the microwave and refrigerator arrive at the same time but the contractors were both very nice that they worked around each other. I'm very happy.

Submitting the claim was extremely easy. I did it on Sunday morning and on Monday, I waited 'til about noon and I called the company, Air Pro Master. They were able to send somebody out Tuesday. The tech replaced my garbage disposal that was leaking from the bottom. I'm extremely satisfied.

I just got my refrigerator replaced through American Home Shield. I like it. This is much better. They were going to repair my Samsung refrigerator, but I got an email saying that they couldn't fix it and that they were going to replace it. They came in and took out the old one and put the new one in. They did a great job. The only thing with AHS is if you're filing a claim over the phone, it's kind of hard to reach somebody. It takes about 20 minutes, but this experience was fine.

The contractors are sort of hit and miss. It's especially true when it comes to heating and air conditioning guys. We've had to use HVAC contractors several times during our time with American Home Shield and sometimes they're great but sometimes they're really bad and they don't know what they're doing. Unfortunately, when the ones that don't know what they're doing show up, they can do more harm than good because these systems are very complicated. Also, what happens is, it's never a one-time call. The contractor comes, tries to fix the issue, and they get it sort of right. But then, I would have to call them back. That happens very frequently. But with plumbers, not so much.
We had a plumbing guy from Lockhart come last week and he was great. I mentioned a couple of things to him that needed to go on the work order and he took care of everything we needed. He came back the next day to finish up. Prior to that, I had a group called Discount Contractors come and they used to be great. They came to the house more than once. I had issues with drains or toilets and they got it all done. They would be in and out of here in no time at all.
But then all of a sudden, they started sending this really young kid who doesn't want to do work. I was having issues with the safety valve on my hot water tank. It kept leaking every once in a while. I also had a faucet in the kitchen that was relatively new that for whatever reason, stopped. One side of it wouldn't put out water. It was running very slow. The tech put a pressure gauge on my faucet outside and said my water pressure was really high. He said he couldn't fix any of the other issues because my water pressure was too high. He couldn't touch the water heater because I had substantially higher water pressure coming into the house and said that my faucet was damaged because of that high water pressure.
The water pressure didn't seem like it was unusually high to me but he said he had to change the pressure regulator valve, which is an expensive fix. He also said that for American Home Shield to be able to address future issues with my water heater, I have to have a pressure tank installed on my water heater. He said my water heater was not up to code because I don't have a pressure tank.
He didn't touch anything and put a note in with American Home Shield. I talked to American Home Shield and they said I have to have this $600 job that I have to pay for. The tech gave them an estimate for what it would cost to put in an expansion tank, which is nowhere near the right price. When Lockhart came out, I mentioned it to the tech. He looked at it and he said my water tank is perfectly fine. He called American Home Shield and he explained to them.

My refrigerator recently had quit cooling, wasn't doing anything. The tech couldn't fix it. It wound up being a wire chewed into by a rodent. He said it could be spliced, but he wasn't allowed to splice it. The entire wiring on it had to be replaced just to get it. He told us we could splice it ourselves, but we couldn't do it. I have a son who is an electrician, and he did it, and it was back up and running. We also had our inside air conditioning unit that went out. When I called American Home Shield, they sent someone out that said it could not be repaired, so they replaced it, which is their policy. I've had that happen with a refrigerator as well where it could not be repaired, so they replaced it with one of equal value. So, I have no complaints.

The dishwasher stopped cycling through the cycles. The techs came in, replaced a part, and everything's been fine. Filing a claim with AHS is pretty simple. Once I make a claim, a rep would tell me that someone would be contacting me and reaching out. I had to use them a couple of times and the techs came out and did great work. The warranty can help the homeowner save a lot of money, especially on their appliances or anything that need to have insurance and warranties on. If you look at that same repair out of pocket, it’s a whole lot more, even though you’re paying them the monthly charges. Once you pay that service fee, your payment is pretty much done, unless it's something that's not covered. But so far, my dealings with AHS have saved me money on my air conditioner that would have cost me a lot more out of pocket.
Other than that, the lady that referred me to American Home Shield was supposed to get a referral fee and she never got her referral as far as she told me. I did not even know anything about them and she told me that it was a great product to have that she'd been using for a long time. If I refer someone, I would want that credited to my account as well.

My refrigerator wasn't staying cold and the techs that came out repaired it, so it works great now. I let American Home Shield of my issue with the refrigerator online. That's the way I usually do it. The website is fine. I got an email saying the name of who was gonna come and their phone number. It was Fidelity that came out and they were amazing. It took them two tries to get it. The first time, it was working for a few days. Then, it started having problems again. So, I called them back. They came back and fixed it, and it's still working great now.
Out of the last several times I've had to use American Home Shield, this was a rare good experience. I had several in a row that we really were not happy with the way things went. We had an issue with our dishwasher where we ended up having it replaced, and it took me eight months to get the check because no one was taking responsibility. It was a terrible experience. I'm happy that the refrigerator claim worked because Fidelity really came through. The key was they did what they said they would do. Then they followed up and made sure that it was repaired when they came back to fix it. All's well that ends well.

The service is quick. But I had an issue getting my refund back. It took almost six months for them to do the tracer on it to remind me, because I had forgotten that I had gotten and deposited it. So part of that was my fault. But I had to call about seven times before I got the good answer. Different people gave me different information. But they were all very nice. The service that I do get when people come out is relatively good. I just had a service done on my garbage disposal. My home costs a million dollars, but the tech replaced this garbage disposal with one that goes in apartments. So I’m not sure that’s a good or bad thing.

My oven would never reach the temperature required and it took too long to reach anything. Lucas Appliance was able to get in as quickly as I needed them to. They wanted to come in like that same week, but I wasn't able to because of my own issues so I had to wait another week. They did a very good job of diagnosing the issue and did really well. The gas portion wasn't working so the sparker was replaced. The oven and the cooktop work better overall now.
I'm very satisfied with how Lucas Appliance did the job. But overall experience since during the time it took between contractors, that one I would rank pretty low. ‘Cause it took a really long time to fix this for what it was.

I filed my first major claim with American Home Shield and I really wasn't sure about the process and how it went. But everyone that I've dealt with has been really great and kind of reassured me what the next step was. Also, they were very expedient in getting back to me. The claim was for the refrigerator and the first tech, Chris, came out on a Friday. He checked it and said that he couldn't repair it so he referred it out to another person. He thought it was either leaking Freon or it just wasn't working because of that. He told me to call American Home Shield if I didn't hear from anyone by that Monday. I didn't hear anything so I called American Home Shield. The young lady that I spoke to said she would contact Chris to verify what I was saying. She verified that the information that I gave her was what he recommended off of the service call.
They sent out a second company, The Fridge Guy. Their tech pulled the refrigerator out, looked at it, and said that it was leaking. He said it was inside the refrigerator and it couldn't be repaired. He said he would contact American Home Shield to let them know. He seemed very professional. I asked him a couple of questions and he answered them for me. Then, I got an email from American Home Shield about a replacement. I spoke to a gentleman and he explained that I could go shopping or if I purchased the refrigerator myself from someone else, he explained to me how much money the company would reimburse me. I've purchased one online and I haven't heard from any company about delivery and setup. I'm hoping that will go well. Other than that, with this being my first claim, I've been very pleased with the company for the most part.

When I call AHS, I usually get a call back within an hour or two with the scheduled appointment. Overall, they've been very good and helpful and they resolved the problems that I had. Accent Air recently came out for the AC and the tech, Cole, was outstanding. He knew what the problem was and explained it. The part wasn't available and he got the part within two days. Then, he was out here promptly and took care of it. The AC runs perfectly now.

My washer would not go through one cycle and it would cut off. The first people AHS sent out didn't figure it out so AHS had to send somebody else out. The second tech figured out what was going on and since the repair, the washer has been working perfect.

I had a heat pump issue. When I would turn my heater on, it would blow out cold air. I called AHS to tell them about the issue and I needed somebody to service my heat pump. They referred Sevier Climate Control and the tech came. He said that all I had to do was switch some wires around. He got my heater working and it was blowing out hot air. But a day or so after that technician left, it got cold and I turned my heater on. It was doing the same thing it did prior to him coming. I took pictures of my thermostat dropping down in degrees because the house was getting colder and colder.
I called AHS again and they referred the same company to come again. But instead of coming to me right away, they came the following Monday, which was three days later from the time I called. The technician, not aware that his company had already come, told me that I'm out of Freon. I immediately texted the previous guy that came and asked if he checked the Freon. He said he did, that I was full, and that he sent me a picture. But the new guy was saying that I'm completely out of Freon and that there's damage to my unit like somebody stole my Freon. While that technician was here, he had my AC constantly running and he would not let me turn it off. And I heard something that sounded like a generator.
Then, he went upstairs in my attic drilling something. The first tech said he would talk to the guy and next thing you know, that guy in the attic gets a phone call and was rushing out of my house really fast. While he was out there talking, I noticed that there was another man with him that I had never seen come in the house. The guy said it was his service manager. He didn't know why the first tech was saying there was Freon in there because there was no Freon in there. I asked if somebody was trying to mess with my unit and the guy played on the fact that I'm thinking that. He did all this damage to it and siphoned my Freon. I contacted AHS the same day it happened and said they need to send another guy out here to see what that man did to my unit.
Instead of AHS sending somebody out right away to inspect this man's work, they kept saying they need to investigate and talk to the service guy that just came out. For three weeks, I kept getting the runaround to American Home Shield. Since this guy left, I no longer have AC and I still don't have heat and it took three weeks for them to get in the resolution. By the time they called me back, I'm speaking to two different supervisors. Their solution was I got to pay another $75 for them to send another technician out and for that technician to see that this is not normal wear and tear. I just got the house inspected. The AC works and I have Freon and stuff in order for me to get the house.
I asked why I gotta pay $75 again. I told them I had the text messages and the picture of the results from their technician originally came out and they refused. They didn't even ask me for the proof. All they're trying to do is find a way not to help me get my heat pump fixed or give me Freon. I asked them for my money back. I paid close to $2,000 to get the whole full package for them to service everything in my home and instead of me getting all my money back, they only cut me a check for $900. They got all that $2,000 minus $900 plus $75 for each technician I've called and their hidden cost for service, application fees, and all this kind of stuff too. I'm still without money to get Freon in my home.
I had the information and AHS refused to get my proof to help their customer. Also, I didn't get to talk to an American person my whole time asking for a supervisor. Nobody was an American person until it came time for me to ask for my money back. I made like nine phone calls to these people, all foreigners, and they kept saying they couldn't transfer me to a supervisor. I have to wait up to 48 hours to receive a phone call from a supervisor and half the time, I still don't get a supervisor. I get someone in the escalation team who still doesn't want to transfer me to a supervisor. I would never recommend AHS to anybody.

I had difficulty the last time I used American Home Shield two years ago. I just swept it under the rug because it wasn't worth the time and I couldn't get anybody on the phone. Compared to this time, I could. So this time was a better experience. One of the switches of my breaker box kept tripping and it would turn two of the lights off in my house. The tech came out and said he changed the strip that it belonged to. It worked fine for a few hours. The next day, it started again. I tried calling the tech directly. I left three messages. He wouldn't return my call. That was when I decided to call American Home Shield. The process they're doing is great because I got someone on the phone, and I did this Saturday. So hopefully, they would answer their phones and get their customer satisfied.

My ice maker quit making ice and the tech who came out was prompt. A piece of ice got back there and froze up against them. It was a simple fix and the ice maker is working back fine like it was. I've submitted things to American Home Shield over the years and they were all good. They replaced my microwave. I pay AHS $75 and if it’s to my disadvantage, it doesn’t sound great. But if it is, it’s wonderful.

The website is easy. You just have to have your account number. When you put that in, the site directs you which way you want to go if you're looking to upgrade your plan or file a claim. I have a Maytag dishwasher and when the dishes were turned face down, they weren't getting clean. The techs could have come the very next day but because of my work schedule, I had to plan it four or five days out. The techs were great. The first guy called me and told me what time he would get here. He told me he was on his way, and then I got a text verifying that the tech was also on the way. He was on time. The second second gentleman called me and he wasn't as friendly. He didn't really give me a time and just told me he'd be there sometime during the day. He wasn't as nearly as planned out and coordinated as the first guy.
The techs looked at the sprayer and told me it was driven by water pressure and that calcium deposits had clogged up all of the openings. So, they put in a request to find a part and I got that part in the mail less than a week later. Then they scheduled to come back and put the part in on November 24th. AHS is definitely needed if you have any kind of older home. It puts your mind at ease and lets you know that you're not going to go bankrupt if something happens at the house.

The deductible is not that cheap and I feel like we shouldn't pay any deductible because we pay monthly but it's worth it. The guy who came out for a claim was very professional. He was very fast and fixed the issue right away.

Most of the techs I’ve dealt with have been good. But the original people that American Home Shield sent for our range didn’t even know how to install it. So, they had to send another guy more local. AHS could improve on some of their communication. When they set up something with somebody, they should have a little input from that person as well. If we're not getting contact from the people or whoever AHS is sending, we can at least talk to them but oftentimes, once they send them, they don't have any idea what the people are doing. But other than that, AHS does an excellent job as far as responding when you call. You can get ahold of them fairly quickly and it's not a big runaround.

Submitting a claim with AHS was pretty easy. But when I'm talking to their agents, some of them don't understand what I'm trying to say. Also, when I had a claim and I paid $100, they brought out the person and he told me that he couldn't do anything for me. So, I've spent a lot of money in the last month having people come out, but then they would say I would need somebody else.
I was trying to get somebody to come out and fix the ceiling, but the techs who came out didn't do tiles that were not covered under that. Then, I had to get a commercial plumber to come out before I knew how American Home Shield worked. They recommended that somebody come out and caulk around the tub and the shower. So, AHS sent me a plumber and they said they don't do that and that I needed a tile person. So, I never got that fixed. Aside from that, somebody came out for my fireplace, but I found out it's a heater. So, I paid $100, but they don't cover heaters. I was a little bit frustrated with AHS but I got a couple of other things done. They rekeyed my door, which was excellent, then a guy did my garage door and he was wonderful. Everything has been working perfectly since he came out. He replaced what needed to be replaced and he was courteous and professional.

My neighbor had AHS and he was telling me that any time that something broke, the job was good and it wasn't expensive. Recently, the furnace was on, but it would never cut off when it reaches a certain temperature. It would just constantly stay on. We called the technician back and he adjusted it. That was what he said he did the first time - he adjusted it. AHS is very professional and their contractors come out as soon as possible. Compared to the pandemic with everybody putting you on hold for months and months, that was very good timing.

The first two vendors couldn't fix the issue of the microwave that was not powering up. There was the same issue about three weeks after they fixed it. It requires a special tool to remove the microwave out of that existing condition where it's installed. They know this but they didn't bring a dolly to pull it out of the cabinet, so they couldn't do anything. There were a couple of repeat calls in the same issue for not having the proper tools with them. There was a lot of wait time in between because they didn't have the right tools. All said and done, it took five months, which is not good. But I was impressed with the last guy. He came prepared and knew what he was doing. He read this wiring schematic and took care of it.
American Home Shield should hire somebody that's a reputable company to take care of these affairs. I've been paying them with a smile just so we can have this peace of mind. But I had to go buy a tabletop microwave to accommodate for the five months that we were waiting. I should be compensated for it. They should let me go for one to two months for the inconvenience.

We have great service with American Home Shield. When my washer and dryer stopped heating, a contractor came in and changed whatever that was bad.

A repairman had the AC issue fixed in 20 minutes. Something had come loose near where the fan is mounted on the outside unit. But I'm not pleased with American Home Shield. The send out whoever they want every time. There's this one company called 3 Boys Appliances. They came out here five times and didn't fix anything. Each service call was $75. I told American Home Shield not to send those people back to my house.
I've also paid 13 times for service calls on my refrigerator for the same problem. That's $975. I could have bought a new refrigerator by now. The issue has something to do with the water dispenser/icemaker because they're all part of the same system. It leaks water out onto the bottom of the inside of the refrigerator, then it spills over and out onto the floor. It's not every day, but it's all the time. You never know when it's gonna happen. The bottom of my refrigerator is full of water right now. American Home Shield told me I can't initiate anything. It has to come from the service techs. They have to tell American Home Shield that it cannot be repaired. I talked to the owner of the service company and she said she was going to push the issue, that they can't repair the refrigerator. But I haven't heard anything from American Home Shield about it and that was three weeks ago.

I have dealt with American Home Shield for years and they've been good to me. I appreciate their communication and would recommend them. They save me the trouble ‘cause I don't have to go and research people. They have done that part, so I can trust that they're gonna send a quality and knowledgeable person out, and somebody that’s been vetted. I've had electrical issues, a water heater issue, and an AC issue. It looked like a car that's been in an accident a thousand times, but they still made it work.
Sevier Climate Control came out when the house wasn’t cooling off. They were really good about communicating. I asked them to please give me an hour cushion so I could get to the house, and they did. I got a text message as well as an email. The guy who came out was fairly friendly. He looked at the unit and said it was something with the circuit board. He said we had to order the part but he made it come on. He handled his business and explained everything to me. Within a week, we got the part in, he came back, put the part in, and we were good. The only issue I've had was for the heater issue where I want them to get the whole unit replaced without replacing the one part that's broken. But it's gonna have to be what it is until the other parts break.

I had a toilet that was stopped up and a leaky faucet. The contractor fixed both but the communication was what bothered me. It seemed like I was pursuing them to do a follow up because nobody was calling me. When the plumber came, he fixed the toilet off the top. The faucet was a little bit more of an issue because he didn't know why it was leaking. When he figured it out, he had to get the part. He said as soon as he had the part, he would come back and fix it. For two weeks, I was the one calling asking them if they were coming back.
When American Home Shield has somebody coming out to your house, they don't set up the appointment for you. You have to call that contractor and set up the appointment yourself. Since I knew that already and when I called American Home Shield and was put on hold, I thought of going ahead and calling the plumbing company myself. When I called them, they said, "The part came in. We'll go ahead and send the plumber out to your house."
Once that call was complete, not only did the plumbing company sent me an email saying my appointment had been set up but also all of a sudden American Home Shield sent the same text and email saying somebody was coming out to my house to fix the issue. But if I hadn't called, I wouldn't have heard from anybody. American Home Shield failed me in that aspect. Also, when I called, they said the service was closed out. That was where American Home Shield slacked with me because they should have kept the call open and communicated with me to make me feel that I have not been forgotten. It shouldn't be closed out because the faucet wasn't fixed.

I'm very unsatisfied with the service and I'm unsatisfied with the company. The service is lousy. You can't even get in contact with the company that American Home Shield is using to supposedly come out and look at the customer's issue. I've called over there a couple of times. My other complaint is one of the young ladies I was speaking to hung up on me.
We put a request in on the 31st of October and it took a week before a repairman showed up. The worst part is he just submitted the paperwork for what was wrong yesterday. Apparently, American Home Shield is not covering my heating and cooling unit so what do I need them for? The slightest problem was a leaky coil and May Heating and Air wanted to charge me for $385 of freon and $1,800 for a motor. Nobody said about a motor. It was just a coil leak. That sounded like they were trying to rip me off. On top of that, every time I called American Home Shield, they said they would escalate. How many times were they gonna escalate something that nobody even went to? I’ve had a bad experience and it’s left a bad taste in my mouth. I am gonna call them and cancel my policy because this ain’t working for me.

The techs who came out recently did very well. But they are the only one so far out of all the people that AHS sent that did such a wonderful job. As for American Home Shield themselves, I don't like them. They don't take responsibility when they hire contractors and they push it all on to their customers. The contractors come from them. They call and send them out. So when they don't show up with the part and actually fix the appliance that I ordered to be fixed, they take the money and run. People dealing with AHS should document everything, including who they speak to and when they speak to them, because down the line, they're probably going to need it to file a complaint.

Every time we've had an issue or a question, it's always been answered and/or handled. Recently, the toilets were backing up, so there was a clog. When I called, the AHS rep said, "I'll put the service in. Get a tech out there." I asked about how long she thought that would take and she said, "You should probably get a call Saturday, maybe Sunday at the latest." She asked, "Is that okay?" I said, "It's an emergency because we can't really take a shower or do laundry, do anything like that because I'm worried that it's just gonna back up and then cause more damage." She said she'd give me a callback. I said sure. So, she gave me a callback. She called somebody, got ahold of somebody, and had somebody out there Saturday morning.

The most recent claim that I had with AHS went very well. It normally doesn't take too long to get a provider or contractor out there. This was three days from the initial claim. The issue was the boiler went bad and I didn't have to pay to replace the whole thing. So, that was a huge benefit. I've had AHS for four years now and we've never had any major issues since we've had them.

We had an icemaker problem. They put a new one in, but it didn't work. Then they came out yesterday and put a new one in and it's working now. It made ice last night. The tech was very knowledgeable. I'm very satisfied with AHS. We have two different contracts with them. One, we did our home and another one we did a condo that we purchased.

I reached over to American Home Shield by phone because I had a specific contractor in their network that I wanted to use, Hornet. I’ve used them over the years and they have been my go-to repair facility for my appliances. American Home Shield outsources their customer service phone calls. The young lady I first dealt with didn't understand me completely nor did she get the proper notes into the file. There were two appliances. There's my refrigerator icemaker and I had some sort of blower motor out on our gas oven. The first lady did not get the gas oven in there so I had reached back over to Hornet to make sure that both items were on the to-do list when they came out. It was not. It took another phone call to American Home Shield to get it straightened out. Eventually, it was fine.
That issue with customer service aside, the process is flawless. I would suggest, however, that instead of having to make an actual phone call to request a specific vendor or a repair service, I should be able to do that online. There ought to be a place for that somewhere in the notes section when you're listing the items that are wrong, the model numbers, or whatever that you could specify. As long as you know a certain contractor is within their network then you can request those guys.

I've utilized American Home Shield on a few occasions. When I needed something, I called them. If there is some out of pocket money, it was not as extravagant as if I would have had to absorb it all myself. I had two AC units, one on one side of my house and one on the other side. And I got a furnace in my garage and everything's covered. They've already replaced both units, the control unit and the heat pump on both sides. But it cost me $1,000 because of the recovery of the Freon. They don't have where they recover it and put it back in. You have to pay for the Freon, which isn't covered. In a way it should be part of it because when they were removing it, I didn't have a leak.
We did the recent claim online and set it up. AHS had somebody call me. Murray’s called me within the 48 hours that AHS gives, but I missed the call. I get a lot of spam calls and I didn't recognize the number. When they left a message, I said, "Oh, that was Murray’s." So I called back, and it must have been too late. So they called me the next day, and that was when I called them and lined it up for that Friday and I took the day off, and it worked out.
Murray’s did a great job. They came out and looked at the unit. I knew that they would have to replace it. And when they came out, they got to look at it, sent it back out, and they got to verify that it is bad. Not go by my word. They then turned around, and were there five minutes. They said, "Yup, you need a hot water heater." I got to reschedule another day. That's the only bad part about that. Because I would have had to take another day off from work.
Luckily, it was a Friday, and Murray’s turned around and said, "Nah, we don't work Saturdays or weekend." They called me three times Friday, and by 3 o'clock, they said, "We got the hot water heater, if you want we'll come out Sunday and put it in." They came out Sunday while I was off, and they did it. The service that I got through Murray’s was good.
I've always had a good thing with AHS. But the bad part is when I already know that they would replace it, they come out, and they got to go and do all the research. It takes three weeks to get my new washer and dryer or my hot water heater. They came out on a Friday and they would have ended up scheduling it the following week, some time either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, the following week. And that would have required me to take another day off from work. Other than that, everything went well.
I'm pretty handy for myself. I could have put the hot water heater in myself and it would have cost me just for the hot water heater. And that depends on what I would have got. I could have went to Home Depot. It might have been 400 bucks. It did save me half the money on a hot water heater. I asked Murray’s what they charged to do a hot water heater, and I couldn't believe what they told me what they usually charge not on AHS. It was 2 grand. Get American Home Shield.

Our refrigerator was not cooling or freezing correctly and I can't function without it. I have a very hungry six-year-old and a big husband. We went through the American Home Shield website to make a claim and it was fine. A tech came and replaced the condenser. When he pulled the refrigerator out, he noticed an issue with the ice maker. It hadn't been making ice well for a long time. He fixed both issues. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He knew what he needed to do. I would recommend American Home Shield but would advise people to call to make sure they get the best rate. My problem is the rate just keeps going up.

I'm very happy and satisfied with American Home Shield. But I had a little recent hiccup when the contract expired on November 2nd and I didn't authorize it to be renewed, but it was renewed without my knowledge or permission. I called and spoke with someone and I told them that I'm living on Social Security and I have a lot of medical bills, and I can't afford the new monthly payment that they quoted, even though it was only about $15 more than I had paid. But even that much for me is still kind of a lot of money. The rep told me, "Okay. Well, let me see what I can do." Then she came back on and said that they could do a concession and lower the yearly price by $100 and get it back in the monthly range that I could afford. That was fantastic so I told her to do it. She said she was doing it and then I asked her if she could send me a copy of the new contract. But she said she couldn't and told me to call back in a few days.
I've been calling back for almost three weeks now, and every time I talk to someone, it's something different. But each one of them acknowledges that it shows in the notes that I do have a $100 concession and my monthly payments would be $36.90. They always say, "Well, they're working on it there. It's in billing, they're changing it, they're adjusting it." But so far, I still haven't had a resolution on getting the new contract or seeing it on my customer portal, and it's still showing the old amount and the old monthly payment.
I like that I can order the service at any time 24/7 on my computer immediately. But initially, I didn't like that I can't choose the provider. American Home Shield selected one provider and he came out and did a great job. Then I had another issue with it and they selected another provider. I asked them, "Can't I have the guy who came the first time? He's already familiar with everything, I liked them, and everything's good." But they said, "No." I complained about that. But then, I understand the fairness of the system where they say they want to make sure that all the vendors and providers have an opportunity to get work. They have their own queue system, so I'm not guaranteed to get the same person again. I told them that was fair. So I was kind of okay with that. Everyone who has come out has been really good as far as quality service, coming on time, and good communication. So I'm really pretty happy with everything.
