The claim process is easy and straightforward and the contractors get out pretty quick. But there was one company I dealt with which I wholeheartedly feel AHS should be taking off their network. They were one of the worst I've ever dealt with in my entire life of doing property management. He was being very combative with me. I had to videotape him and kick him off my property. They flooded my backyard and weren't even kind enough to pay me back for the money that they wasted in water.
At the end of December, a tech came for my pool claim and he had to switch out my pump. I'm pretty happy with the repairs. He's really good about diagnosing the issue and making sure the issue is taken care of. He got things taken care of then, but unfortunately, the pump seized up again and I had to call him back out. My only thing is that I was under the impression that with my home warranty my pool pump would be swapped with a new one. It looks like it was swapped with a refurbished pool pump. There are going to be continued issues with this and it's going to be $75 out of my pocket every few months, which I don't want to deal with.
Other than that, AHS is worth it. Go for it. They've been very good about taking care of things for me and they've been very prompt about making sure all the work is done. So I've been very happy with that.

I've been very happy with American Home Shield. Attwoods has always been very good. They come in and check my issues out. I've had them before. When I first bought this house, I had Old Republic Home Protection, and they were with Republic. They're excellent people. I know the guy. He comes out and he's very efficient. He's always on time. He's polite, and he cleans up his mess.

I had an electrical problem and it took 24 hours for them to get back with me to schedule the next day. The tech was very experienced, knowledgeable and easy to work with. He was very efficient and he took care of the problem. If something bad goes wrong, it's good to have a warranty that won't clean us out cost-wise.

I gave American Home Shield a call and explained my issue. The technician came out to assess the issue, determined it was a faulty part of the microwave and ordered the parts. About two weeks later, they went ahead and installed it, got it tested, and now it works. I have another claim with them for a refrigerator. Another company came out, assessed the issue and found out it's another part that it needs. Right now they're waiting for the parts to arrive so they can go ahead and send a technician back and install it. The process is fairly easy and straightforward. The communication was good. I'm happy with American Home Shield.

When filing claims, I'd just call up the AHS number and give my policy number. They'd rout me through to the people I need to talk to. The last five years haven't been as good as it has in the past, but they've always met my needs. It's a $75 service fee for someone to come out to service me, and most of the time, if I would have just called a technician, it wouldn't have cost me any more than that as I haven't had any big claims before. But AHS has always performed well.
We've had an issue with our microwave door. When we opened it and if we didn't hold it, it would always go down fast. It didn't bother me because I always hold the door every time it goes down, but my wife complained about it a lot. A couple of weeks ago, I went in to use the microwave in the morning to warm my oatmeal and I opened the door. As I was opening it, the whole outer panel just fell on the ground and shattered on the floor. There were little glass pieces all over the place. I also noticed there were several little screws in there with the glass. I looked at the inner panel that helped that shade in, and there were two that were loose on the end while they were still on the inside, and I thought that was the only thing holding the glass in place.
The technicians were out within a matter of a week. They looked and assessed everything and filled out all the paperwork. They said that they advised American Home Shield that there were no replacement parts available for that because of the age. Now I'm waiting for American Home Shield to get back through it. I got a phone call a day or two afterward from someone there wanting to verify my address as she wanted to know where she should send their response. I told her to send it to the same address where the service was performed.

American Home Shield responds almost immediately after we notify them. The technicians have done a great job. First we had a leaky filter system. We also had a washing machine problem where no parts were available for that. It was so old so they replaced it.

I had to do two fixes last year, and both were done timely. The first claim I had was related to my washer and dryer and the second service was a leakage on my toilet. The payment is a little bit higher though. For the leakage, it cost me $100 but if I did it by myself, it was a $10 fix. But other than that it’s okay. So far, I'm pretty much satisfied with the service.

American Home Shield sent out technicians that were really good. They’re very knowledgeable. They sit and listen to what I have to say and about what’s going on. I had one that was nice and easy to get ahold of. He did a really good job and I like him. He did everything I asked him to do. The only thing I'm working on now is waiting for the new dishwasher to come in. I’m also waiting for my ceiling fan that's supposed to be reordered to come in. That's been about a month and a half. I haven't heard anything back on it.

The dishwasher wasn't draining and the repair guys fixed that but the handle on it was broken. I figured they would have taken care of that as well but it’s still broken. So, I had to wait two weeks for the other part. I've never been happy with American Home Shield. They should not have a person wait three weeks in the middle of summer when it's 100 degrees to get the AC repaired. They told me there was nothing they could do about it. They were very busy. I stayed in a hotel for a week because it was so hot I couldn't stay in the house. I dropped AHS before I moved to my new home because of that situation and when I moved into my new home, my Realtor provided a year's free membership. My family should stay as far away from AHS as possible.

The washing machine was making a lot of noise and OC Electronics came out. They said the issue was bearings. But it took a really long time to get the part and I was not getting any updates on it. I would call the contractor and I couldn't get to them for about a month. So I would like for American Home Shield to have more contact, and to be able to tell their contractors to give an update to the person they’re working with. When the contractor finally got the part, they came back and fixed it. We got another problem developed. But then they came back and fixed it. So, I’m satisfied with that. It only cost me $100 to get it fixed.

We had a problem with our dishwasher so I called American Home Shield and a repairman came out. He saw the problem, ordered the part, came back, and installed it. When the dishwasher was making this horrible clanging noise, I called again. The tech came out and checked it. He found something else wrong. He ordered a part, came back, and put that part in. He ran the cycle so he could actually hear what was going on and discovered something else and said the machine was dead.
I have been going through American Home Shield's portal trying to pick out a replacement for the dishwasher. I've been having trouble because I like to go to Lowe's or some store and see what the inside of the machine looks like. I can't always find some of the models I want to look at. I want to look at it before I order it because there's a lot of difference. Also, we plan to upgrade. We haven't replaced our dishwasher yet and it's been almost over a month.
On the whole, I'm satisfied with our service. The repairman tried everything he could to fix the dishwasher and discovered what was the main cause was. It's just a matter of trying to figure out which model I want and how to go about it because it's hard to order it online. I'm going to call in an order because I don't see that well on my iPad. I'm still more comfortable speaking with an agent. I talked to somebody yesterday and she was very helpful. She gave me some tips and I appreciated that. I want to talk to her again but when I asked if I could call back and get her, she said that there are so many offices.
The only criticism I have is American Home Shield can't get parts. They always have to send away for the parts. I understand that it's nobody's fault, but the supply chain. You have to wait for everything. Otherwise, American Home Shield has been prompt. They use the company AM PM and they are very good. They keep in touch. When they first schedule you, they say, "He'll be here Monday morning between 8:00 and 12:00." The day before, they will narrow it down for a two-hour window. The repairman texts me or calls me when he's 10 minutes away. They've always been on time and I have been happy with that company.

So far, my experience with them has been outstanding. I've been happy with them. No issues with at all with reporting claims or submitting them. And I usually have a person out that same day either within a few hours or maybe close to closed business. There was a leak on the pressure tank above the water heater. The plumber addressed it right away. He put in a temporary part to stop the leak. That way, we could have the water turned back on until they return on Friday with the part.

We do enjoy American Home Shield's service because it's reliable. Some of the pricing has shifted a little bit. But other than that, on the last two instances, American Home Shield was very responsive and was able to get the order fill quickly and then assign a technician and get it repaired. We had claims on our garbage disposal recently and our ice maker and both went very quickly and really well.
I came to American Home Shield from 2-10 Home Warranty. It was definitely a better experience on all fronts, technicians, the timeliness of resolving the issue the first time, several other pieces like materials they used and dealing with the customer service if there was something else that needs to be handled. So far, the associated technicians have been pretty good. I'm familiar with some of the companies in the area that works out. If I had to get a reassignment, that wasn't difficult to do.

I had a claim for my dishwasher and it took six months to get it done. But the people who came and repaired the dishwasher did fine. I have huge complaints for American Home Shield. The first would be that anytime I want to get something done, it took forever to get on the line with a person. Then when I did get on the line with a person, half the time, they lose the call, or somehow I get hung up on. I end up having to call back and wait again for however long until I get back through to someone. It would be common sense and common courtesy for them to have my number, and if somehow we get disconnected, it'd be really nice if they just called me back. So I didn't have to go through the whole hour-long spiel of getting someone on the phone again.
I've had times where I've been disconnected about five times, and it's not my phone. I have no connectivity problems when I've talked to anyone else. But for some reason, when I'm calling into American Home Shield, it seems like suddenly I had connectivity problems, and it's not like I'm being rude or shouting or screaming. I'm always very polite.
I've used American Home Shield a lot. When my oven gave out, they gave me $1,200 for a new oven. It would cost me 4,400, so that really didn't do me any good. But they were like, “Well, if we were going to buy it, this is what we’d get it for.” Also, it takes six months to a year to get stuff fixed in my experience. So it takes so long. I would never recommend American Home Shield to anyone.
Mary,

American Home Shield sent someone out here. They said there was a little part that needed to be covered up, and that the heat should be on within an hour to an hour and a half. They told me just to leave the unit on. So, I left it on. All day long, no heat. I called them back and told them that. And they made another appointment to come back out here. They looked at it, and the little part was frozen. It was covered with ice. They said that was the problem with it. So, they had to order the part. They said it would be a little while. A week or so later, they called to make an appointment to come and install the part. We made an appointment. A half an hour later, they called me back and said that it would be $600 out of my pocket. I said, “Woah, woah, wait a minute.” That is where the issue started happening.
I got in touch with someone in American Home Shield. They told me that I have to pay it, and that was in the contract. So, I looked at the contract. And lo and behold, there was a little thing where they paid a small portion of it, but I had to pay the lion’s share. And not being a contractor, I had no clue that something like that was so expensive. Because I thought I had the best that they had to offer, but apparently not.
I had a very hard time getting customer service because it was all outsourced. And that was very frustrating. I talked to more than a half a dozen people, trying to get things taken care of. Finally, I talked to someone who wanted to me get a second opinion. I said I didn’t know that was an option. So, I got that, and it was different from the first one. Still, no one told me anything about how much it would cost me. So, I said that they sent me an email saying they gave me a choice of fixing it myself or having the contactors come out. I talked to someone in customer service who said that they would reimburse me the $100 that I paid for it because of the length of time that it took to come out, to get the issue resolved, which still hasn't happened.
It would be better if AHS would, in the beginning, tell people that there are certain exceptions to certain things. Because no one knows that there will be a cost out of pocket until it actually happens. And it would have been nice to sit down and go over certain things, especially high-cost items, like the refrigerant. Because that’s the whole purpose of me getting insurance in the first place, so that I wouldn't come up with that. I’m a senior citizen and disabled, so is my wife, and we’re on a fixed income. So, trying to come up with money at the spur of the moment is very difficult.
The first contractor was the one who came out and looked at my unit for the summer to prepare it for getting cool, to get the air conditioning, make sure it was all up to date. He was the same guy who came out here to do that. And he came out again to fix it for the heat, and that was when all the problems started. He talked about the unit outside and didn’t mention anything about the unit upstairs. Apparently, that’s where the big problem is. And my big problem is if the refrigerant is leaking and they put more in there, and it leaks out, do I have to pay another 600 or $700 to do that again? The first one said it was $600 worth that had to be put in, and the second one said it’s about $700 that need to be put in. I figured they knew what they were doing.

I'm still waiting for my air conditioner to get fixed, which has been going on since last year summer. The tech put a temporary part on it while they were ordering the original part because of the pandemic and the supply chain management issue. They told me the part came in, and they were supposed to come and put it in. But the technician who was supposed to bring it went on some emergency leave. I've called American Home Shield several times and I've been getting the runaround.
The last time I spoke to somebody was last week. It’s very sad to have a company tell me somebody is going to call me and I've called back at least 15 or 20 times, and nobody's ever called me back. The problem is still going on, which I've already paid for. AHS should improve on their customer support and follow-up. I also had a claim with a dishwasher and that was done with no issues. The guy fixed the problem in 30 minutes. But for some reason, we can't seem to get this air condition situation resolved.

AHS gives a security when things break down. I had a claim for a garbage disposal and the tech did a good job. But I have a bathroom that I had worked on several months ago and I'm having a problem with it even after the tech got to work on it.

We had an issue with the hot water heater and it took AHS almost a month to get us a new hot water heater because AHS kept screwing up. At one point, AHS told the vendor to go to a place to pick it up. When they went to that place, the vendor went there to pick it up, and the place said, "We don't have any hot water heater for you." AHS told the vendor to go to the wrong place. So that was a whole big mess.
It seems like over the years AHS has gotten worse. It seems like the vendors and contractors that AHS is using are getting goofier and goofier. It gets to a point where I start to wonder, “Why am I still using AHS?” I'm paying $600 a year and everything becomes a struggle. I've been a customer for 17 years, in the beginning, we never had a problem. After we moved into this condo, the hot water heater that was here prior to us living here went, within two days it was replaced. Then here it is, years later, the hot water heater went. We needed to get a new one. It took AHS almost a month playing games. We had to go to somebody else's house every day to take showers.
They also came last night for the microwave. The techs installed it. But I didn't expect anybody to be coming at 5:45. They said between 12:00 and 5:00. When the guys arrived, they said they were running late. I was like, "Okay, fine. You're here, put it in." When the guys came at 5:45, I said to them, "Somebody was supposed to call me to let me know what time to expect you." He said, "Oh, nobody called to say we were running late?" I said, "No." I had called the vendor and their office closed at 4:30. So all I got was the voicemail. I left a voicemail saying, "Here it is. 5:30, the workmen are not here yet. I want that microwave installed. I need somebody to get back to me." Then 15 minutes later, that was when the doorbell rang for the condo, they were here. Going through the process was dissatisfying. But once it got installed, everything was okay.
I should not have to be the one micromanaging this process. When I make a call to AHS, I expect AHS to make the arrangements, deal with the vendors. Then I expect the vendor to call me with a simple, "We're getting it and this is the date we're bringing it." I shouldn’t have to make follow-up calls to the vendors. I shouldn't have to make follow-up calls to AHS. Then, it seems like every time I call AHS, I'm routed to some call center in some other country. Then I have to explain everything to them. I have to hope they understand the English I'm using.

I know that would have cost me a lot and that was like the regular 125 for the call and they paid for the rest. Then, I found a leaky pipe under my sink. I bought a special kind of policy, which was a buyer’s policy because this is a new home for me. Sometimes, you go into homes and you don't know until you’re there for a couple of months and you find out some things. American Home Shield's policy is that if you go in and if you discover something, on day one, I can start making claims and get them out there to fix it. So I'm trying to take advantage of that situation because I paid for it. I had a couple of leaks underneath my sink and the plumber fixed one of them. The other one is still outstanding and I called AHS last night to inquire about that. According to their notes, the plumber didn't report on the second, which was the garbage disposal. So, they were going to reach out to the plumber to see what was the problem with it. When the plumber responds, they said they’d get back with me.
When I first called AHS, the rep was friendly. I got a rekey maybe a day before I got them and I didn’t know that you can rekey or get them to pay to rekey your home. But their policy is if I didn't go through them, they couldn’t reimburse me. So that was the only little gripe I had. But other than that, the customer service was good and I have no complaints there.

I had six different calls to come out and repair my refrigerator. It was not cooling, and the freezer part was not freezing. This was a Kenmore Elite, and the first fellow came out and indicated that he did not work on that type of refrigerator. Someone else was assigned to work on it, and when I told him what kind it was, he didn't work on that kind too. That happened again with a third person. Somebody came out later and decided that it was a part that needed to be replaced and he couldn't replace it. Somebody from Sears then came out, and they couldn't repair it then somebody else from Sears came. They repaired the problem, but while repairing it, there was a leak from the water line that was created by a previous contractor
The last person that came out from Sears, it seems to have alleviated the problem as far as the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and I'm satisfied now. The dissatisfaction comes in because it took so long to get the problem fixed. All my food that was in the refrigerator and the freezer had to be discarded. If somebody from Sears had come out in the initial call, then I could have saved a bunch of food. The other thing that I'm dissatisfied with is without notice, there was an increase in cost. The cost was 70 then the next time I looked at it, it was 80.
I had Sears prior to American Home Shield, and I find them much better than Sears. Am I going to continue with American Home Shield? Yes. Customer service was outstanding. As soon as I talked to someone, they were interested in getting that $100 upfront, which I don't have a problem with. Every time I called and talked to someone or they called me, then they moved. It was a great turnaround time.

I like the security of having American Home Shield. Recently, ACS Plumbing came out and they fixed the plumbing issue that I had. Then they charged me money, which they should not have. What happened was that the toilet was broken and they came and said they fixed it, and it doesn't flush now. Then they did something under the sink where they told me it was gonna be $250 over what American Home Shield would pay. Then when they came, they said, "Well, that problem really wasn't there." So, they fixed it. Then they gave me a bill for $50 that I now have to turn into American Home Shield, which is a pain. They did put on the faucet, which was fine.
An electrician also came in. I've never used the remote. I always use my turn off switch. The new fan isn't working in the ceiling, but he can't test it because I don't have the remote. So now, I'm gonna have to go buy a remote so he can test it. That was annoying as well. Then, a guy came in for the refrigerator, which was for an ice maker issue. All he did was exactly what I do all the time. The ice maker gets stuck, and you have to empty it and it starts working again. He just came in and emptied it. I want to know why it's getting stuck all the time. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield right now. I am thinking of looking at other home warranties because I'm very disappointed with this that's been going on.

They outsourced the call center overseas, and I can’t understand the rep most of the time. You assign contractors who are so busy they have trouble scheduling, so then I try and get a different contractor assigned and I face GREAT resistance from the call reps! Not fun. Then I go the cancel and you slap an “ADMIN” fee to cancel, that’s such **. Never be a customer again, cancelled all 3 polices and my GF she also cancelled. So much work dealing with these people!
We do appreciate your feedback and apologize that this issue has caused you to cancel your warranty. It is not our intent to cause a difficult experience, and hopes that you would consider joining the AHS team in the near future. Have a great day!

On Christmas Eve, I had my family over and while we were talking, the power went out in my family rooms, but the rest of the house had lights. So I thought maybe a breaker had tripped. I went to the breaker and it hadn’t tripped, so we had no power in my family room and my garage, which are next each other. I put in a claim and the contractor called me. They asked if I have a space heater and I said yes but it wasn't plugged up. Then, they sent the guy out and he saw the breaker hadn’t tripped. Then he just started testing each plug socket. The first one he came to was the problem and he changed the socket for me, the plug part, and everything went back to normal. He wasn’t here 15 minutes.
Other than that, I was with AHS before and every time I made a claim, nothing was covered, so I left them and I tried another warranty company but they were worse. So it was going to be wintertime and if nothing else, I needed my furnace and the electrical to be covered. Everything else is brand new because I've been remodeling my house, so I went back to American Home Shield. The price was within my budget. The other one was almost $90 and now I'm paying 40 something for the same type of coverage.
On another note, their commercial showed that when something happens on a customer's house, he'd make a claim and the techs would come out on the same day. But it doesn't work that way and I wish they would quit advertising that. It takes 24 to 48 hours. In my case, because it was Christmas Eve, I had to go without power on that Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. Once you made a claim, they got to see if that's going to be covered on your warranty, then they got to dispatch the person and that person has to call you back. It’s not easy as they make it seem.
Also, American Home Shield does not cover a lot of things. Even with toilets. If it's a valve problem, they’re not going to cover it. There’s a lot of exclusions in it. I got the warranty for my AC unit, my furnace, and electrical. Anything else I know more likely I'm going to have to come out-of-my pocket. There’s no sense with me putting in a service call with them and spending $75 for somebody to walk into my house, look at it, say that it's not covered, and walk back out. Also, when I referred somebody to American Home Shield and she told them about it, I haven't heard anything about it. But for referrals, I was supposed to get $25.

Last year, I called about the temperature of the fridge and when the service guy came, he said it's destroyed and that is when they can replace it. Recently, I called in for the bathroom and the kitchen faucets. The service guy fixed both of them. Unfortunately, what he was was smaller than the actual size of the toilet. So, we called, and immediately, they responded and sent somebody right away. The toilet was fixed. There was never a time we had any issue with American Home Shield.

I'm enjoying American Home Shield's service. It's pretty good so far. Whenever I put in an order, they're quick to have someone come out and get the work done. The premium that I pay every month is very affordable for what I'm getting covered. I have the platinum for my home and I had nothing but positive experiences so far. Recently, I had a tech look at my toilet and then he looked at the garbage disposal. He was in and out. He was very friendly. He taught me some stuff about the toilet. He did a good job.

I had trouble with my dishwasher overflowing into the basement. The techs came out. They didn't fix it because we have a clogged pipe in the wall, which is not their fault. But they did, in fact, find the piece. It had a hole in it. It was part of it. So, I'm gonna have to have them come back out because it's just not doing well. But so far, the claim process with AHS has been good. I just wish I had a little bit more control over who came out, but that's okay.

When you apply for something, they should let you know if it’s covered before the person comes out. When the plumber came, he walked around the house, came back and said, “Oh, American Home Shield don’t cover it.” He didn’t do anything and I still had to pay the $100. It was a waste.

Our only source of heat is radiant floor heat. A week ago, I reached out to American Home Shield and started the process to get that fixed. A contractor came out right the next day but we're going days now without heat. It’s very cold in here and there's no solution. They said they couldn't find the part and they don't make that particular model anymore in that particular company. I called American Home Shield and told them I needed to get the issue resolved. If there’s a special part, it may take more time. But to not have any solution and not to have any response to me is unacceptable.
The other two issues were quick fixes. There was a part loose in the garbage disposal. The plumbers came out and fixed that right away. The second one is still in progress. It’s the glass top for our electric stove that shattered. But that's workaround-able because there are a few other burners that are still safe to use. The part has been ordered and that was communicated to us.

With American Home Shield, I like that I can pay a small fee to have someone come out and fix things in my home and I don't have to search for technicians and contractors to do that. I just wish they could improve on the price going up every year. But I recommend them to a bunch of our friends that purchase homes.

The convenience and peace of mind of having this warranty has been good. But it's a hit or miss in terms of when people come out and look at something and what they say and what they can do or not do. I've put in four service calls and the most memorable one was the pool company. The contractor was very responsive, very timely, and fixed my issue immediately. However, I have not had the best experience with my heater repair in terms of the timeliness of response. Originally, the first two or three times the contractor came out, they just sent a freshman technician who didn't know what he was doing. Then from the time of that I would go into American Home Shield and request service, the fact that it took them a week or two just to get me on their schedule when it was 30 degrees was not okay.
Another thing, like American Home Shield, the first time they came out, they were like, "Oh, it's this, but we don't have the part. So we're gonna have to order the part. And that might take us about a week before we get back to you." The last time around, I just called a heater company and pay for it out of my pocket because it was the fourth time the contractor had come out. It just wasn't worth going through my warranty to continue to have to deal with a company like that. The timeliness and response time considering that a consumer is paying a $100 deductible just to get someone out is important.

The whole garage floor was wet. When I touched the hot water heater, there was water coming from the heater from the top. So, I filed the claim with AHS. It was very easy filing the claim. The rep was very good. Then someone came out from High Priority and he looked at the hot water heater. He said that the hot water heater was not good. It needed to be replaced. If I wouldn't have had AHS, I don't know what I would have done. Because they took the claim and right away, depending on what it was, somebody was here and fixed the problem. I was satisfied. I never plan to be without them.

We live in a rural community and we don't have a lot of technicians in our area that will accept American Home Shield. We're finding out that it's because they don't pay their bills. Not only do they not pay their bills, but they also charge us as a consumer. For the last two years, every time I have something break down, they give me the okay to have it fixed myself and then I pay for it. But it takes a series of about seven hours on the phone to get them to come through and pay for anything. This process doesn't take a day or two days as they're saying.
We started a claim for a furnace about three weeks ago and I paid the $100 deductible. But it hasn't been resolved. We are in suddenly low weather. I watched children in my home, and I have small children of my own. This is a problem. I run alternative, tiny electric heaters to keep everything going and fine. American Home Shield takes your $100 right away. But then they don't come through. I still have to call them and get the authorization number. But by the time that they can release you to find somebody to fix your own, it’s a good week and a half out. That's not doable when you have a fridge or a furnace that needs to be fixed. That's not fair. I have paid American Home Shield very well for a couple of years. But I am looking to see what else is out there. If I can replace American Home Shield, I will.
The other problem is that when you do get a technician, nobody wants to solve your problems. Nobody wants to help you. They just want to give you the, “Yes, yes. We're dealing on it. We're dealing on it.” There was one lady that was absolutely rude and would not help me. So I kept asking her, “Can I please have your supervisor?” But this lady left me on hold for a good hour. I was determined enough to sit there. When the phone system has this music playing in the background, you can hear that she checks to see if I'm there. Every 20 minutes, that music will kick off. So it was a waiting game on her part to see how long I would wait.
I know that American Home Shield is an equal opportunity employer. But it's tough when you get people that you can't understand from so much broken English that don't even speak the language. To get somebody that sounds like, “I can hear everything you said this entire call” has never happened with American Home Shield. I usually get somebody that’s from a different place or country, and I struggle through it. I'm already frustrated and then the rep is not even here.

I had to send two messages to Murray's, their contractor, to say, "When would you be contacting me?". But Murray's came and everything went smoothly. About two days before Christmas, my washing machine quit. I called American Home Shield and the lady took my information over the phone, and then took my deductible over the phone and filed the claim. It was done in a matter of five minutes. With it being a holiday, it might take a little longer. But within a week, I had someone here. They checked my washer and told me that due to the age of my washer and the fact that even though parts could be bought because of stuff with shipping, there was no telling how long it would take. The tech said he was going to request that my washer get replaced with a new one.
After two days, I had a phone call and an email from a rep with Home Shield that told me I could do several different things. They said, "We can send you an email with the available washers. At the end, there will also be washers that you can upgrade to and pay extra. If you pick one out, you can do it online, you can hit which one you want. It'll be ordered. We will contact you with the company that would be delivering it. And if you do it that way, the company that delivers your washer hooks it up and takes your old washer away." They also gave me the option of getting a voucher and me going to pick out my own washer at stores like Lowe's or Home Depot.
As I looked on Home Shield's website and started looking at the washers, I picked one out and knew that they would take mine away. When I picked out my washer, they immediately sent me an email and said, "You've selected your washer. Your order is being placed. We will let you know." They gave me a roundabout time frame. But mine was actually a quicker turnaround than the time frame they gave me. Within a week, I was contacted and told what company would be delivering my washer. I made arrangements to be here at the house. Then they came in, hooked it up, and took my old one off. I love my new washer. Other than me picking out what I wanted, Home Shield pretty much took care of it. The contractor did the job in 15 minutes. It was great. That made it worth what you pay each month just to have Home Shield.
The only downfall I had with Home Shield a few years ago was with an air conditioning issue. I'm not pleased with that part of it. I had to wait for a bit too long for someone to come out. When the contractor did come, they were a fast-talker. They said, "Ma'am, actually, you need a new unit. However, American Home Shield, your warranty company, and they're going to make us order the parts for it and fix it as long as those parts are available, and they are available. So we will have to go that route. And we're going to have to drain all of your Freon, antifreeze, whatever. And that's going to cost you $975 for us to put that back in. That will not be covered by Home Shield and that will be your expense." That upset me and I almost cancelled because of that.
I did file a complaint because the company that they sent out was from Montgomery, which is about an hour and 15 minutes away from here. The guy said, "Ma'am, granted, you know that you need to go ahead and get a new air. Since I'm the one here working on it, if you go with us, we'll go ahead and knock off $1,000 on your air unit since we're the ones that come out to check it." I didn't feel good about that person they sent out here. I ended up calling a local person that came out and checked my air conditioning unit. But other than that, as far as appliances, I'm okay with American Home Shield.

We get an email saying, “You're scheduled at this time of day,” Contractors show up, everything's taken care of. If I have an issue, I would call American Home Shield and talk to somebody who speaks very good English. And they can understand me and I can understand them. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was great. They came out. They found out that it was just a loose cover on the intake. And it was just one of those things that we tried a couple of things, a couple screws, and we put a new air filter in, and it was fine. He was there in less than 10 minutes. So, it was good. This last time, it was scheduled for a hot water tank. I got the email confirming with AHS the plumbing company will be there at X date at whatever time. But they didn't show up. So I called the plumbing company, but no answer. So, I called American Home Shield.
I talked to somebody who was very hard to understand. I guess a call center. And they said, “Nope, they’re there. They're supposed to be there.” I said they were not here. She said, “Well, you call them.” “I did, they're not picking it up. I left a voicemail.” Finally, the company called me back, “No, we didn’t have your schedule. Just because American Home Shield says you have an appointment at a certain time, doesn't mean you have one with us. You had to verify with us.” Which I wasn’t aware. Okay, no big deal. They rescheduled. They came up positive for COVID. So they said, “Hey, we can't do it. We'll let American Home Shield know.” Fine. Luckily, we still have hot water.
A week went by. I said, “Okay. We’ll give it some time.” Nothing. I called AHS. The individual said, “Nope, you’re still with Pro Plumbing Services.” Tried calling them, they told me they’re under the impression it was reassigned since they couldn't do it, since they had COVID, which was miscommunication. Finally, they came out. They did the initial email saying they sent what we needed to AHS. I got an email from AHS saying, “You’ll have to owe extra charges. Please call us.” This is where it got interesting. I called and wanted to know what extra I had to pay. Because a new hot water tank was approved but there was an extra cost.
I have known before that people got burnt because a plumber said they had to pay for a disposal fee. And they would only cover so much of the hot water tank. The person on the phone couldn't answer what I had to pay for. She started listing stuff off. She mentioned about a breaker. I said, “Is that a circuit breaker?” She said yes. “There's a circuit breaker right beside the hot water tank. Are they supposed to have a different breaker?” “Nope. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a breaker. You guys figure that out.” “Okay, but maybe somebody else needs to come take a look? Because it's double protected by two circuit breakers.”
And she mentioned about the expansion tank by code. “That's fine. However we're outside the city limits. The code doesn’t apply to us. But if we need it, I have no issue paying for it for safety of our house.” She kept on referring back to the contract. And she said, “Well, if you want to cancel this, we'll just cash out and pay you for the difference.” “No, I want it fixed. I’m just curious what I'm paying for.” So, resolved it. It was very tough. English wasn't her first language, very tough time communicating. I got frustrated. I couldn't understand. I’m wearing a hearing aid. So when I can't hear or understand, I speak louder.
Pro Plumbing Services came out a couple of days later. They fixed it. Phenomenal service. I asked them what those extra charges were and they pointed everything out. I said, “She was saying something about a breaker. And she couldn’t understand. She said, electrical breaker.” The tech said, “No. We put down the TPMS fault breaker, which is the temperature pressure monitoring that’s on a breaker.” He asked if there was an issue. I replied I just wanted to know what I was paying for. They were great. I was just very upset with the last person I spoke to with AHS.

After about a week, I had this huge dripping of water underneath my toilet. I called them back and it took them two days to get here. The tech admitted that it was his fault and he didn't make the bolts tight.
I also had a request on the faucet on my tub and I told him that he has to make sure he has it just in the right place for the water to stop dripping. He said it's supposed to be like that. But the cold water stops. It's broken. He ignored it the first time. The second time, when he came back to take care of the toilet because of the bolts, I brought it to his attention again. I've dealt with American Home Shield many times in different issues that I've had. I had an issue a year ago with my AC, and they sent out this company that was very shady. They broke our AC and tried to blame it on us that it was an issue before they got there, but they literally took the thing apart and it broke. AHS didn't want to cover it. It was a big deal because the whole thing had to be replaced.
I was going back and forth with them. AHS didn't really help us much and just mediated when they heard our complaints. They were taking the side of the people that they hired. We eventually came to a common ground where they were going to cover some of the costs. But once American Home Shield sends these people out, they don't do much. Like if something like that happens, they don't really help much as far as getting things taken care of and getting this company to do what's right.
It left a really bad taste in our mouth as far as who they contract through. I was very skeptical when the next company came out. Like when they were replacing the outside unit, I was watching them and asking questions. Because I didn't really trust them because of my experience. But they did an excellent job, I just feel like sometimes American Home Shield hires the cheapest possible companies.
Recently, near my water heater, the line to it was rattling when we would use water. So, I submitted the request online with AHS. By the next day, we had received notification, AHS had assigned the plumbing company, and then they called us shortly after to set up an appointment, and then, they came out. They assessed the problem and told me what it was, addressing my questions and concerns. They gave me an explanation of why it needed to be replaced, and they went from there. I waited about a day for their approval from AHS exactly what they were going to cover. Then they called us back within 48 hours from the initial visit and told us what we were gonna have to pay out of pocket.

American Home Shield has been very accommodating. I only had one negative experience with a vendor that AHS suggested that I use when I requested not to use that person anymore. It took me three days to try to make an appointment. I finally called back to AHS and they were able to reach this person after I left several messages with him. Once he called back, he sounded irritated. And he mentioned that what I wanted wasn't what he was supposed to do because it was not in his area of expertise. I needed to have our icemaker replaced and the water line in the back of the refrigerator was leaking. So, he was a refrigerant company for the refrigerator. He was very rude and unprofessional. I said I didn't want to work with him at all. Other than that, AHS has been good. I like having everything in a one-stop shop. I don't have to search around and do my own research to find other various vendors for what I need.

I was having problems with the gas water heater. The pilot went out and I tried to relight it but wasn't successful. The techs came out and they were able to relight it without any problems. So far, my experience with AHS has been positive for the most part. To see a contractor, they're supposed to contact you within 48 hours and I've always had them contact me within that amount of time. Then, when we set an appointment, sometimes they can't get there immediately. And on other times, it doesn't work out for us. Then occasionally, it seems to me that their base of service people is rather small. One time, I've had a problem with one contractor that they sent out. When I relayed that to American Home Shield, I don't know what action they took, but they were happy to send another contractor out to look at the issue and it worked out just fine.

I called American Home Shield and they sent me a referral over to The Plumber in Lancaster. The plumber happens to live in my area, so that was nice. He came immediately that night, and he stopped the leak and then came back the following day to do the proper job. There are no leaks now. I'm just waiting on the other part as far as the repair on the wall and the flooring.
I like that American Home Shield is reasonable, but I did have an issue that has not been resolved. I have called them numerously regarding some follow-up that has not been done, and I keep getting the runaround. I keep being transferred to different people, and nobody calls me back. This is going on a year now. This was a follow-up that was supposed to be providing the smoke detector and some other things, and they have not sent anyone back out. Every time I call, they look it up and see the person came out, but no follow-up has been done. They said they're gonna email it and expedite it, but nothing has been done.

For my recent claim with AHS, I had an issue with a wax seal in a toilet. It was leaking from the bottom of the toilet. I'm a senior citizen. I can't lift up the toilet. So, I had to call the plumber out. The gentleman that came out was very polite and knowledgeable. He did a great job. After he did his job, he tested everything out to make sure it wasn't leaking, found that it was still leaking, and then removed the toilet and discovered that the seal that he put in was a little shorter. He had a taller seal out in his truck. He went and got the other one. It's because I had some tile work done and it raised my toilet up. So, he discovered that and took care of it immediately, put the taller seal in the toilet, and everything worked fine. No leaks.

I had an issue with my fridge. The first contractor was not able to fix it in 40 days. The contractor was changed by American Home Shield to Wayne and they did an awesome job. They came on Christmas Day and knocked it off. They finished it all in one day. I was very impressed. I'm very happy that my issue was fixed, and Wayne did an excellent job.
But, as far as the contractor before him, it sucked. It was an extremely poor business process and coordination between the contractor and American Home Shield. They changed a part and the part that they changed came with 60 days warranty on it. The guy went in hiatus and stopped replying to calls, or making his appointments, or replying to American Home Shield. He left me hanging for two weeks. Meanwhile, American Home Shield did not change the contractor because they had their own process. Eventually, after 40 days of give and take, the contractor was changed, and I went to somebody else. This contractor was changed not because of American Home Shield. The guy just gave up, said, “I do not know how to fix it.”
AHS has have customer support, they're very empathetic. They also are very good in trying to relate to the customer. But in the end of the day, I'm not calling for empathy, I'm going to resolve a problem and they were not able to resolve my problem in over 40 days. In terms of submitting a claim via their website, having somebody scheduled, it's seamless and very good. But if the contractor is not a good one, you get zero support. You get into the rabbit hole of, “Well, we have to give it some time, then we'll have to escalate to the relationship management team.” In 40 days, I heard about that team, but they were not engaged.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I've just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Our heating unit was barely blowing hot air. You could tell it was on and something was happening, but it wasn't performing the way it should have. We made a claim with AHS and the tech was out there within a couple hours. Apparently, it wasn't a major fix and there was a clogged pressure tube. So, it wasn't allowing the unit to fully evolve and turn on. Once he cleared that, everything was good to go, so he was able to fix it on the spot. That was the most impressive thing and I have not been entirely satisfied with AHS prior to that incident. This time, the contractor that they chose was knowledgeable. He was in the area and it worked out fantastically. The last incident that I had prior to that was the absolute opposite and I ended up losing a lot of money on it.
They assigned my claim to somebody that was not very knowledgeable and this was an electrical issue where we had some power outages going on in the house. I had to reach out to them the next day. They didn't even send somebody out for days and when the techs came out, they said there was something that needed to be replaced in a fuse box. They said they ordered the part but weeks went by without the part. This went on for a while and it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I ended up having to pay AHS the fee that I typically pay for someone to come out, then hiring somebody else just to come out and take care of it so it would be fixed. I called AHS and I told them I wanted my money back, but they wouldn't refund it.
Then I got a call, so I thought I got it resolved in a few days, after I found out this vendor wasn't providing a part. They had no idea when it was going to be in, but they were going to call me back. They never followed up though and I followed up with them all the time. They never had any better answers, too. When I hired just a random handyman to do it, he was able to fix it on the spot. It turned out that there an outlet that needed to be replaced. That was really disappointing because we went through all that trouble and time without power. Also, when I started looking up the contractor and dealing with them, their customer service was awful and their reviews were terrible.
So, the root cause of this issue was who AHS was assigning some of this work to. There needs to be more focus on the urgency when these issues arise and quality of the contractor doing it. When I looked at some of the reviews of some of the contractors, it was a little weird and almost all these are contractors just specifically to serve AHS. And some of the reviews aren't very good.

I had American Home Shield when I was in Maryland. That's why when I got here in Arizona, I continued with their service. I also upgraded from their regular service to their electronics service, which covers my TVs, computers, and stuff like that too. Now, when the techs come to my house, I pay a higher amount of money. I was paying $75 a service call but because I upgraded to the electronic package, I now have to pay $100 when they come. I've already used them once for a TV repair and it only cost $100. The TV is working beautifully.
Recently, I had a claim with my washer. It was a little tricky and it resets itself. But AHS asked the question, "Do you still want them to come?". I said, Yes, I still want them to come. I already paid my service fee." They set up an appointment for the next day. But it was working when the tech got here. There are policies that are cheaper than American Home Shield but you should get a policy no matter what because as a homeowner, things break. Next thing you know, your dishwasher, garbage disposal, refrigerator have issues even though they're new. It's nice to have somebody that I can immediately come and look at them. I have friends that have AHS who have had worse experiences than I've had. AHS doesn't really give you a true replacement. They give you something as close to what needs to be replaced as they can. But I haven't had a bad experience with them yet.

I used American Home Shield once to fix my washer, and the process was straightforward and easy. It took some time to get everything done, but I understand COVID played a part in that. The dude who came was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what was wrong with my washer. The only thing is, we did a telephone interview first and did a video conference call. They knew exactly what was wrong with it and it would have helped if they would have ordered the parts at that point. Instead, they did the video conference, then two weeks later, we had a technician come out and took a look at the washer. They then had to order the parts and two weeks later they came back out to replace the parts.

The techs were very professional and gave a lot of things outside of what they were supposed to be doing. They gave a lot of educational information which was helpful. We had pool issue and they were like, "Well, we can write on the valves if you like so that you can know versus happen to go on memory." I don’t have experience with American Home Shield located in other cities but the service is worst in San Diego. I recently bought a home and from friends' recommendation from cities, we bought American home shield. Within 5 months we realized that was a big mistake. Our refrigerator was not cooling and completely stopped working on January 5th, 2022. We immediately informed AHS, they dispatched a tech from Expert Appliance couple days later. We informed him that the compressor has to be replaced from our experience but he ignored our words. He unplugged our refrigerator and plugged it back and said he resolved the issue and the fridge will start cooling in 5hrs and nothing happened.
We called this guy again the next day and asked him to order the compressor. He said ok and mentioned that it will take a week to get the parts. We were fine waiting a week hoping to get this resolved. He came back after a week and replaced a thermistor instead of compressor. That’s when we realized this guy doesn’t know anything about repairing and shows up as technician to unplug and plug the appliance.
We called AHS and told them that we need a different technician as we are happy with what he did. AHS made a new service ticket and asked us to pay another service fee because they can’t assign a different tech in the same service ticket. By now we were not worried about money and want to get this resolved because we were already without fridge for 2 weeks. So it took another 3 days for new technician to come and this guy is pretty knowledgeable about the LG refrigerator that he brought the compressor with him. But the twist here is that he says he doesn’t have time to fix this compressor because it takes 2 hours to fix. He showed his appointments and told us he doesn’t have time. He gave February 1st as the earliest appointment which is 2 weeks from his first visit. My question is why do you even visit the customer if you don’t have time to fix their problem????
We kept calling AHS to address our problem as we have babies and elderly who store medicines and can’t live without the refrigerator. We spent in whole 10hrs of our time on phone. It’s January 23rd and we are still without working refrigerator. Again with my experience with AHS in San Diego, they don’t have technicians available in San Diego who can address your problem immediately. You literally have to wait a month or even more than that. Fingers crossed for my technician to come on February 1st to take care of my refrigerator.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

American Home Shield sent out a thing and said I could get an AC tune-up for $75. My fee to do anything with them is $125, so I decided to do that. But after that tune-up, the AC didn't heat up. It just stopped working when I needed the heat a week or two later. So a tech from Family A/C Service Solutions came out and said that the lines were messed up. My unit is 17 years old, so I was not really impressed with him because after he worked on the unit that I've been using for 7 years, it all of a sudden stopped working. And it's been cold temper in Florida. So, another tech came and he ended up getting rid of all the Freon because he said it had a leak.
So, two different technicians came out from Family A/C Service Solutions and they were very nice, but I still have no heat. When their guy came back out, he said that I needed a new system because all the Freon has leaked out and I needed at least 8 lbs. to get it fixed. He also said that American Home Shield only pays $10 and they're a $159 per pound Freon. They said that I could keep pouring money and fixing the same unit, but it would be ridiculous because in the long run, it's going to cost me more money. So to keep me from putting money into it, I agreed with him. But this has been an awful experience because my problem is still not fixed.
So I called American Home Shield and they wanted me to pay them another $125 for a tech to come out here and assess the system to see what needs to be done. Bu they are the ones who sent Family out here to look at the AC and gave me the diagnosis. So I'm really upset with American Home Shield and when it comes time for renewal, I will not be renewing unless they make this right. I'm not giving them another $125. I'd understand it if the person came out, told me the air conditioner was leaking, fixed it, and it was going to be $1,000 to put the Freon back in it. I'd understand American Home Shield if that was not the company they sent out here, but that was the company they sent out here. They have just left me sitting here with nothing unless I pay them more money.
Before this whole heating thing happened for their tune-up, I had a bathroom sink that was leaking, so AHS sent a company out here. The guy said that it was running and that AHS wouldn't pay for it if it was running water. But it was leaking everywhere in three places, so of course it was running water. And he wouldn't stay here long enough to even let me watch when it turned on. So I called American Home Shield and I was very happy they called that contractor, Circa. They said they'd come back out and check it out again. When the guy came, he said I needed a second opinion as he didn't see anything wrong. And he was so rude. But I told him that I've already okayed it through American Home Shield that if I bought a faucet, he would put it in. So he put the faucet in, not wanting to do it. Then, the plunger doesn't work and it's on crooked.

I had no heat and it was during the snow. I was running on emergency heat and when the techs came out, they checked the unit and it needed a new compressor. So they had to order that. It took a week to get it and for them to get back out here and get it put in. But they came earlier than when they were supposed to, got it put in, and did a great job. They explained everything to me, and they were very polite and professional. For this claim, I called AHS and it was easy to get through. Out of all of the warranty companies, and I’ve kind of dealt with several, American Home Shield is the best one. They cover more, they're faster, and they are more professional. This is a first-class home warranty program. I originally bought this house three years ago and the sellers provided me American Home Shield. For some reason, I changed companies the next year and I really got messed over. So, I came back to AHS. I've had two calls on my warranty and they've done an exceptional job. Everything has been great.
Recently, I put a claim in on a Sunday and AHS provided a contractor that same day. Myers, the contractor, called that same day and said, "Is it okay if we come out tomorrow between 9:00 and 10:00". The techs were very knowledgeable. They provided me quite a bit of information and took care of the problem.

They have good service, good coverage when it comes to all the repairs, and good technicians on their behalf. The guy from A+ Comfort Air came out for a claim and did work for quite a few hours but in those hours, everything was fixed. But the online aspect of the claim process should become a little more user-friendly when it comes to breakdowns because it doesn't really explain what can be broken down on the machine. It's just in general concept of, “The furnace is broken.” It doesn't really give an explanation on what it could be. But when I called, the rep was very knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to help out a little more on what the issue could be.

The furnace wasn't keeping up with the cold. As it went down, there was water coming out on the floor, down into the drain, where it shouldn't have been. We called American Home Shield and Always Air responded quickly. The technician did a lot of troubleshooting to make sure he could try to fix it. He wound up coming back and forth and eventually, the furnace had to be repaired. On the second time, they had to order a part. They weren't able to get it on the same day but were back early the next morning. They tried not to have to replace it. But they got it up and running and he told me this could go for forever. It could run for a day or two and have problems again. He told me what to look for, where the water was gathering. He told me also how to drain it. Essentially, the water was backing up and causing a switch to fail. He showed me how to troubleshoot it myself to keep it running well. I had to call them to come back out but I'm very happy with Always Air.
I never had an expectation that when American Home Shield got to replacing the furnace they would pay for the whole thing. But I got more than a fair benefit from them and they worked with the contractor on the back and forth. They kept me aware of what was going on because they would send me texts and emails, letting me know about on their side what was happening with the contractor. The contractor also told me what was going on so I had a very good experience with both.

I had a broken hose on my washing machine. The tech was out in two days. He was very professional and it took him five minutes to find the problem. They ordered the part and he came back two days later. He took five minutes to put it back on. Having a home warranty will save you on the back end especially if it comes down to an air conditioner unit. Nobody has thousands of dollars. It's easy to pay the service fee, let techs come and see what's going on and let them fix it. But AHS should lower the service fee agreement. When I started off with them, it was $50. Now, it's 100.

The dryer was making a loud knocking noise. The tech came right in, identified the problem and resolved it. I did everything with the claims process online because trying to get ahold of someone was a little difficult. There are too many different steps you got to do. AHS should have a better way to get in touch with a live person, instead of pushing multiple different buttons. It seemed like they were asking you the same question just to get you to a certain individual. It should be faster, especially if it's an emergency situation.

AHS is a good company. What they say they're gonna cover, they're gonna cover. However, in Florida it's different. Most people have their pumps for their water inside their house. But since Florida is a slab, they put them outside the house. So, anything outside the house, AHS won't cover. But it's the same sewage stuff that they would cover if I lived in Indiana or Chicago because that's all kept inside the house.
But when I lived in Chicago, we had American Home Shield and my heater went out and they came out that day to fix it. Then, my air conditioner went out and, though they wouldn't fix it, they gave me some money. But I paid somebody, one of their technicians, to do it, and he screwed the whole thing. He used the wrong parts. AHS said, "Call another air conditioner guy and see what they say." AHS covered the whole $8,000 to repair what that guy tore up. They've given me good service and if something's broke, I have no problems calling them and getting work done. I even use the service guys that American Home Shield sends over here. They're my regular guys now when I need something done that AHS doesn't cover.

There were two dampers in the heater that needed to be replaced. The guy came about a week later to replace them, but he had the wrong piece of equipment. That was on the 4th of January. Since then, I had absolutely no news. I contacted May Heating and Air at least three or four times. But I get all the time the answer that they didn't get the part yet.
I talked to one lady at AHS and she told me that the guy was there. I told her that he was there but he didn't do anything. It was a complete miscommunication. We couldn't understand each other. In the end, I just gave up. I tried calling May again and again. The last lady that I talked to said that the part is on order. But they have their suppliers. I told her I could get it on Amazon and delivered within a day. She insisted that they were waiting on their suppliers. But it's not possible that they wait since the 4th. It's already three weeks.
American Home Shield was recommended to me by my neighbor here. He said that he was happy with them. When I approached them, they were very fast. But the problem is mainly to do with the repair people that are not doing their stuff, and possibly, the system of American Home Shield is not letting them know that it's not done. American Shield should follow it up.

The repair guy was nice and instructed my wife on what the issue was and what he was gonna do. It got done in a timely manner, so she was happy about that. Bur we then had an issue with the oven getting extremely hot. We actually ended up burning a couple of meals. It started giving us that F code again. I had the techs come out for the garbage disposal. The first guy who came out said it obviously didn't work and he would process the paperwork. I didn't hear anything so I called back and found out that he said that it couldn't be repaired, it was my problem. AHS sent somebody else out and the guy came out and replaced it right away. That was the positive part. The negative part was the first experience.
Then I had another person come out and they replaced the lint holder in my dryer, which they did fine. But then the icemaker in my refrigerator was not working. They came out and they had thawed out all the ice that had built up in there. They looked at it and they said they would order a part. They ordered the part but they couldn't get the actual part. They were turned down on getting the part so they had to use their own ingenuity to try to fix it and they did, but it never made any ice.
I called back and they came out, and the guy said he knew right away what it was, that if they'd been allowed to get the part that they needed, it would have been fixed and working fine. So he was going to apply something else but he saw you might have something in his own shop. Apparently, he didn't, so now they're sending somebody else out.
The problem I'm having with them is their timing. They'll tell me someone will be there between this time and this time, and they’ll call before. The first company that came out that I thought had done a pretty good job and was waiting for them to get this replacement part never called. I happened to be working at home in my office, which looks out into my driveway, and the truck pulled up. But I never got any pre-warning that they were on their way.
Then this last one, they said they would be here between 11:00 and 2:00, and nobody called to remind me. I waited that entire time. I waited to 2:15, to 2:30, to 2:45. Finally, I had to go. I needed to pick up my granddaughter from high school. While I was in the process of doing that, I got a phone call from the company. The man was at the door. I said, “I'm sorry. I waited the time that you said and 45 minutes extra. No one ever called to say they were going to be delayed. If they had I could have made other arrangements for my granddaughter to be picked up. But nobody did.” So I was in another town.
Now they're going to send somebody else out, and I hope that they know what they're doing ‘cause I'm getting a little bit annoyed that I keep getting these promises and it doesn't get repaired. I'm debating whether I'm going to call somebody or just call somebody independently to come and look at it because I don't think that could be worse. I'm not sure I would recommend AHS to somebody else because of the experiences I've had.

When the air conditioning went out, the contractor came out and fixed it. Everything was fine and dandy but it went out again and Home Shield sent somebody else out. That person said that we tampered with the unit. We didn't know anything about it. We went round and round and round and Home Shield didn't want to fix it. They wanted to blame the existing condition on us. Each time somebody came out, it was a different company and one company is pointing blame to the company that came prior. We were so frustrated, they offered a payout program of half of what the expense was and we'd go find somebody else and get it fixed on our own. That's what we ended up having to do. Going through customer service and claims was the worst because they did not want to take responsibility.
But within the last month when we got trouble with our heat, they sent out Ultra Heating and Cooling who was fabulous. Their tech was on time and knowledgeable. He communicated and he was courteous. Also, our first experience with Home Shield was when the refrigerator went out and they got us a brand new refrigerator. The only frustration I had was when our toiler wasn’t working and we only have two in the house, we were stuck with waiting till Monday. This happened on a Friday and if they had said that instead of 75, it’s 100 if I want it expedited and they would send someone out on Saturday, I would have selected that option. It was an emergency situation, but there wasn't an option for emergency. It was simple fix. Once the repair guys were able to get here on Monday, it was taken care of within a matter of moments.

We bought this house and the inspector we had told us that we would have to have the outlet worked on. It was an emergency so I had our private plumber come out. We found the same kind of problem in the rest of the house so I used Home Shield to have the other plumbers come out and do the other job. I used the chatbox and Home Shield got back to me right away. I was very pleased with that. The technicians' office contacted me the first time. The second time, I just went straight to the chase. Home Shield said that if within a certain time period they don't contact me, I should contact them. I was under time constraints so I called the technicians that they paired us up with.
The technicians were very conscientious. They told us when they were arriving and they were wearing masks, which was one of my requests. The second time they came, I didn't request the masks. They automatically did it. They did good work and they were very careful. I told them that our private plumber said a valve needed replacement. They said, "We don't replace the valve unless we can't fix it." That was making it clear what they were willing to do within the confines of whatever contract they have with Home Shield.
I would recommend this home warranty. They have been very conscientious, especially about making sure that somebody is paired with us right away. It's beyond their control how fast somebody gets out here because technicians have their own style of how they schedule their services. This was the first time we had a home warranty plan like this and I would definitely extend it when it's up. It's good that they can pair us up. I have a feeling that if I were dissatisfied with the service that we got or any of the technicians, Home Shield would probably follow up on that.

So I called back American Home Shield and tried to talk to three associates and they didn't understand what we said. It's been very strange to try to get to them and to make them understand what you're trying to say. It's very frustrating at times.
There is an air gap that's located above the sink, but it's not plumbing. It's part of the dishwasher. I was trying to tell the American Home Shield associate that that was put under plumbing but that was not a plumbing issue. It is an appliance issue. So I asked if she could get me an appliance technician who will take care of my AC that was dripping outside and the air gap, which also falls under appliance. She said she didn't understand. It was 40 minutes trying to explain and she refused. She said, “I cannot help you anymore.” So I called back Lindsay Company and talked to them and told them, “Could you tell me what the notes say?” Because they also send the notes in to American Home Shield saying that these were not covered. I've already paid for the service. But it's been almost three weeks, and we've not made any progress. I've just given up.
I like American Home Shield. I recommended them to all my friends. I like their policies. I like every part of American Home Shield, minus the customer service reps. I would just say that the contractors should get in touch with Home Shield if they were out of the area.

I had a clogged sink that Dimitresse Construction came out for. It was Christmas time when I filed the claim so it took a while for them to come out but when the tech got out here, he was nice. He came out twice because the first time, it didn't work but it was fine. The only thing with AHS is sometimes they only have one guy in the whole area and they have nobody to send out. One time, we had to find our own person, which worked out, but still, it was doing all the work.

I had an issue with a faucet. When I changed the showerhead, some of the water was leaking. The tech did his best job to fix it and I was really satisfied with that. I also had a toilet issue and it was the handle that was not working properly. So, the water valve was not closing. The tech changed the handle to fix it. He was professional. They are really well-organized. It took some time to get parts to deliver but that was clear and it was easy to work with them. I recommend American Home Shield.

Everything was automated. Everything was through text messages and emails, which is great and wonderful, and the system seemed like it worked okay. But I wanted to talk to somebody. Prior to coming, A&E had a window of five hours and that doesn't work for me but I couldn't get through to them. It's an automated service. One time I got through but if you don't say what they want you to say, they hang up. It's all computer. That was my first hiccup. I would like a little more interaction with the technician or customer service, where they can talk to the technician and we can go back and forth a little bit. Also, AHS said the contractor would contact me prior to coming and I was expecting a phone call. It would be nice to hear from the guy where he's at and where he's going.
The tech came in and he diagnosed the problem. He told us he has to look into ordering a motherboard and a computer board. He said he's gonna order the part, AHS is gonna drop-ship it to our house, and they're gonna come back out. But there's no way it is all gonna work out that way. I asked if he could give me a card and if there is someone I can talk to but all he keeps telling me is to call the number for A&E.
A few days went by and I did not hear anything. I went online to AHS and it showed the job to be completed. It was nowhere close to being completed. We haven't gotten any parts and the guy hasn't come back out. I called A&E and they told me to call AHS and do a recall. I called AHS and told them I do not want another technician from the same company coming out here seven days later to tell me the same problem and that he'd order the parts. AHS is the middleman and they're just doing their part but they need to work on their communication with who they hire.

The process with American Home Shield is quicker if you do it on the website. Calling in to talk with someone is a bit clunky 'cause of the steps and the procedures to try to get to a live person. Pacific Home Appliance was competent but lately, I've had some different experiences with some of the vendors. This is the third technician in two months to repair the burner elements in the oven. They started in the beginning of December. A technician came out, checked out the stove, said there are multiple parts that needed to be replaced and he was gonna submit it. I didn't hear anything and called back in, and he hadn't even submitted the invoice. Then he did that but we didn't hear from them again.
About a month later, I called in and got someone else to come out. He was training someone. They checked out some of the things and they worked what he was gonna order (some burner dials), then they'd come back on a date that he said. No parts came so I called back in, and found out he closed that order. We didn't hear from them again. The third technician is coming out today. Hopefully, we'll be successful this time.

Things were good with Antech Appliances. My washer was getting error codes all the time and they replaced some circuit boards in it. They ordered the boards and let me know when those came in. They promptly came out and the tech was good. But, the people AHS sends out are usually not very good. They sent somebody out to work on AC and they were basically useless. Three people came out and they wanted to cut the system in pieces and pressurize it all in order to find out where the leak was. They told me that it would take six weeks to complete the pressure test and to fix the machine which in the middle of summer when we're going through a heatwave is completely ridiculous.
AHS has sent some really good plumbers before but I've had some issues about what they choose to be included and aren't included. So I'm really thinking about looking into other companies.

The kitchen plumbing had a problem with respect to a leak into the basement. So we called in some support and the contractor came in. The first time around, they said it was an issue with the head of the faucet. They said something was loose, so they tightened it, and they said everything would be all right. But three days later, the same wet spots were noticed. So we call them back and then they looked at it. They said it was a different place that leaked. Some other thing was loose and they fixed it. I would have expected American Home Shield to follow up and asked me if the issue was resolved or not. Also, the contractor itself was not up to the quality. The contractor left in a rush. If that would have been better, I didn't have to deal with the problem twice.
Earlier in the year, there was another issue with respect to AC tune-up. We made a request and we paid the copay upfront. But the contractor never called for scheduling. We kept calling and the call was never taken. We were told that our copay was going to be refunded, but it never come back. So hopefully, American Home Shield changes how they handle these things. They should find better contractors who respond.

The warranty has been helpful so far. The providers were knowledgeable and professional. They fixed the microwave. The other one they did was for the ice maker in the fridge. They told me exactly what they needed to do, they placed the orders for the part, came back when expected, and did the work and the time frame that we discussed. It was the same person that came out every time. He made sure that everything was working. He tested the units multiple times before he left. The microwave took a bit longer than a month, just because we had to wait for parts to come in. The ice maker took a couple of weeks. Everything works great now. Get American Home Shield.

AHS's website is great. It tells me everything I need to know and what to choose, to pick, to verify what I need to be done. They sent me text messages and emails stating that they had a contractor for me when I had a clogged drain. They also sent me emails and texts that the contracting company was notified and they’d be notifying me, and if they don't notify me, to call them.
The young man was very nice, respectful, and polite. When he came out the first time, took care of the job at the time that need to be done. Later on, there was another slow drain. Called them out. But when he came out, they weren’t able to find any small drainage going on in the kitchen sink, which probably got taken care of by whatever we poured down the drain to loosen everything up or the suction we were doing with the plunger to help unclog whatever was there. But other than that, the young man just said, “Since you don't need anything and we can't find a slow leak, just contact us again when you need us. If you still have a problem, we'll be glad to come out.”

Came to find out, the GFI was dysfunctional and then they had to replace the GFI. Then, the keypad to the garage was replaced. American Home Shield, as always, made a claim, I paid, and they contacted me through text as always.
The company called, and then the guy said, "Okay, we made an appointment." He was able to come out that same day. Then he had to come back for the garage opener about a week and a half later once he got the part to it. The tech was very good, educational and informative. He looked at everything, went to the circuit breaker, the GFI, went outside to the garage, did a couple of testing. Then, he was able to explain what the issue was, giving us the diagnosis, what he needed to do, and then he pursued to do that. I would recommend AHS.

I've been without a stove since June. The very first appliance repair company that AHS used was terrible. They really didn't do a full assessment. They just automatically thought they knew what was happening. I didn't hear back from them. I constantly called and tried to get on their schedule. If you go to their website, you'll try to plug in a date and it's like two months away. I called American Home Shield, "Can you guys help me?" They were like, "Okay. We'll do it again." They claimed they showed up the second time. But they never showed up, even when I scheduled the date. So it was a bad experience.
But American Home Shield has been very good to me. I really like them. The claim process is very easy. They're very eager and enthusiastic customer service representatives. So when I call for a claim, they put my mind at ease, that it's okay, that's why I have insurance. Their customer service was great. They treated me very well.

Customer service has been fine. However, I was without heat for 35 days and it was in December and January. American Home Shield blamed it on distribution. I’m sure the supply chain is goofed up but when I told the rep, “It’s warmer in my garage than it is in the house,” she told me, “Maybe you should sleep in the garage.” Recently, a contractor came for the refrigerator on a Tuesday, and he found the part and was back on a Thursday. It was quick. I was thinking that it was going to be at least a week. My parents have a policy now with American Home Shield because of me. It's kind of a safety net for them. They've had to use it for their icemaker and for something else, and they've been very happy too. My former boss and his wife also got a policy through American Home Shield because of the level of service that I was getting.

We had a claim for our refrigerator and and to get someone out, it took three weeks. The tech said they couldn't repair it, so AHS sent us a check about a week after I called them. Then we went out and bought a new one. Other than that, I've had some really bad experiences with some of the people that AHS contracted. I had one gentleman wanting me to pay him all the work ahead of time and I refused. I told him I've never had to do that to a contractor. I also spoke to a friend of ours who's a plumber who said that he didn't need certain things that he charged me for. I Then, I had a couple of contractors that never came back. I had one who fixed our washer and ended up breaking another part. They said they’d get back to us and when we called them back a couple of times, they never answered. Aside from that, the dude that came out left all his trash here. He just picked up his one tool and walked away.
So, I don't know if some of the companies are getting paid correctly or they're not and they're giving us half-service. Aside from my plumber friend, I have another one who does appliances, and they said that AHS don't pay out as much as somebody could come and get independently. So, the service they give is not that great. But other companies have been great. I had Sears recently where the guy came out and told the truth. We ended up getting a refrigerator and he explained to us how to keep that one up. So, it's been a hit and miss sometimes, 60-good, 40%-not so good.

J&A South Park came out to fix my furnace and I really liked them. When my hot water heater was leaking, I called American Home Shield and requested J&A. They replaced my hot water heater. J&A was also excellent about coming right out. When I had an issue with a light switch, Omega came out and fixed it. American Home Shield's claim process is easy and they will put in a work order. Sometimes some of the companies they use put off for warranty customers. Omega was good about it and they came right away. They gave me the time that I wanted.
I’m going to renew my home warranty. When I bought my house, the previous owners purchased the home warranty so I had the benefits of that. Right now, my furnace, hot water tank, and air conditioning unit are old. I saved a lot of money on the hot water tank by using American Home Shield. On the other hand, some companies oftentimes don't want to use the home warranty. J&A is debating whether they're going to continue having warranty customers because they don't make as much money on it. It's a good company and I would hate to see them leave.
When my furnace was broken, it was on 16 degree day. The first company American Home Shield gave me was going to put me off for three days before they would come to fix it, which was a real problem. If that's the case, you're going to go outside the network and pay yourself. But J&A came the next morning. As long as American Home Shield has companies like that to cooperate, the home warranty is worth it.
The other thing is the first time I used American Home Shield, I was having trouble with my swimming pool. They only have one person who works on swimming pools and he didn't want to come out so they had nobody for that. I had to go outside of their network and I did not have a good experience. We had a huge problem with our refrigerator, which was a bad experience because American Home Shield kept sending out techs that didn't have the expertise for a KitchenAid. And come find out that AHS had people that specialized in that particular brand. But it took us multiple business, multiple calls, to even get the right person here to take care of it. If AHS got a specialized piece of equipment, like a KitchenAid that everyone doesn't work on, and they have someone under their umbrella that specializes in it, give us that person the first time instead of having us hook up with different people who don't know that brand. They should try to mirror the contractor with the product since they are going to service.

American Home Shield needs improvement as far as their contractors go. Whenever they have to dispatch Sears, it is a nightmare. Two years ago, it was the year COVID started, my freezer stopped making ice so we called them. After a few months and many times different contractors coming out, they finally got the ice working. But then my whole freezer itself wasn't working. They finally got the freezer working, then the whole fridge stopped working, just for my icemaker. Once that was determined that they couldn't get all of them fixed in sync, it still took quite a while before they approved a replacement refrigerator. We were given more of a hassle than anything. During COVID, I didn't need all these people coming into my house constantly.
We just bought an amended package with American Home Shield that covers Freon for the heat pump, whereas, before, they only covered some pounds of Freon, and if we've got an issue going on and they have to take that Freon out, then we're being charged to put it right back in, so that was not right. Nonetheless, we have been very happy. The refrigerator instance, and I don't know where the whole thing stemmed from. I wish they could get a little bit more local vendors. They dispatch somebody from an hour and a half to two hours away.

Recently, ADA had one part to one of my appliances, and they were waiting on the order of another part. It was my washer and dryer, and both of the dates that ADA had for the order to come in and to repair were two weeks out. They instructed me to call American Home Shield and get authorization for them to come out and repair the part that was in-house that they had there and to keep the ticket open so that when the other appliance part came, they will come out a second time. I got the authorization from AHS, but when I called ADA back, they told me that they don't do that, even with the approval from American Home Shield. I had already been going to the laundromat, and I was done. I went and purchased a brand new set.
I've had this warranty company for so long that now that I just started to use them, it's been frustrating. I thought about checking into another company, but I know better. I've worked in property management and one is no better than the other, so I'll just stick with American Home Shield for right now. I wasn’t very happy with American Home Shield. It was a very lengthy claim for the hot water heater that was leaking as far as the turnaround time and the explanation of the extra cost that we had to pay out of pocket. I felt yanked around for that whole month we were waiting for a hot water heater. My husband met with the technician the first time and he seemed fine. But when I would try to email or call them, we never got ahold of them. He came out the 20th of December and said they would submit what was wrong with hot water heater. From then on, I called them. My call went to voicemail. They were supposed to call us back but never did. When I would email them, they would ask if I agreed to the charges. I asked them if they could explain to me what the charges were and they would never answer me. I wouldn’t want to work with them again. I even called American Home Shield to ask if they could send someone else out.
I kept calling back to American Home Shield. Somehow, someone sent me to the payout department and I was able to understand that person. It was $650 worth of modifications. I didn't understand that and no one would explain to me what exactly it was for. She had said we could do a payout or find somebody. But when I understood what it was, that amount probably was cheaper. Then it still took some time because they said their supplier needed to reorder it as it was not in stock.
When the contractor finally came out and do the hot water heater, they put it in. The only thing is they thought something went to the filler so it didn't have water to our last bathroom and bedroom. They came back out last week and fixed that. However, there's still a leak from something. The repairman told me if it's still leaking over the week, they can look at it. I'm confused and don't even know what this is and what this is going to cost. That would be another claim.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you about your unresolved concerns.

I had a plumbing issue and American Home Shield's claims process for that was quick. The technician was quick, too. He explained how to fix it myself next time. AHS has been reliable. Every time I've called, they send someone and they fix the issue right away or they replace whatever they're fixing.

I had trouble with the heater making an impeller noise. Within a few minutes of submitting the claim, I had someone calling me to say, "We're ready to schedule an appointment for you." So the process was pretty seamless. It was simple and that's what I want as a consumer. Then the contractor came out and lubricated some components they felt might have been aging. After they did that, the noise was completely gone.

The dishwasher was not running a full cycle. The company came out, assessed the situation, and did a diagnostic on it. They ordered the parts and then 10 days later, they scheduled a time to come out and replace them. Since then, it’s been working fine.

The fan or the motor of the refrigerator went out. The young kid came three times and he wasn't able to fix it. I talked to AHS again. It's been about five days and there was supposed to be a second opinion and it was supposed to be within 24 to 48 hours. Well, I haven't heard from anybody. It's horrible. It gets so loud sometimes and sounds like it's going to blow up. American Home Shield gets on the problem right and calls the people for me. They have set up things. But I'm not getting any return calls from those people they've set up so I don't understand that. They should get rid of those people that do not answer their phones and find somebody else. They have a machine to do it. Overall, they've been great and they get right on it.

My AC is working again so I feel like Billy's A/C Service did a great job. This was the second time they've come out. They've been very quick both times to get out and get me heat. The only thing is I normally just pay for the $100 copay, but they had to put Freon in my unit so I had to pay for the Freon which was about another $100. Also, I paid for the more upgraded versions than my friend. And it seemed like she had more benefits than I did, which I don't know if it's because I had it longer. I did call Billy's back and asked about that and they said something that I would need to cancel my service through AHS and get a new policy to be under the new changes, which I thought was kind of ridiculous. Other than that, everything's good with American Home Shield.

I wasn't getting electricity to my kitchen and part of my front room. The contractor was able to figure out that two outlets were causing a circuitry issue and replaced the outlets. Before having American Home Shield, I was with a different home warranty company that kept on trying to make me go find a provider. I paid them upfront and then I had to wait for six weeks, and that is unacceptable. But with American Home Shield, I did a service request, and in 20 minutes, I had somebody already assigned to the case. They were amazing.

American Home Shield provides excellent service for me. If you do submit a service request online and you don't know the internet, it can be a little difficult but still doable. They have an option where you can call them directly. The people who have been out here have been thorough. I watched them. They were friendly. They wore their masks. I gave them shoe covers to put on. They didn't say anything about it. They just put them on. They explained to me step-by-step what they've done, so I would know what was done. Then after that, they were gone and I got something indicating that the job was complete.
When my HVAC unit went out, Above Par came out, inspected it, ordered a heating strip and they put the heating strip back on. What I would suggest to other people now, with the experience that I've had, would be to find out what AHS means exactly by if they can't fix it, they will replace it because it doesn't mean what it says. I've learned from Above Par that they'd rather fix it a million times than replace it.

You have to pay a co-pay for having this service. But for example, with the hot water heater that could have cost anywhere up to 1,000, that was beneficial not having to pay out-of-pocket. It was just that American Home Shield didn't cover the hot water heater issue we had because of something dealing with the state, which on the other home warranty, we didn't have that issue. The contractor that they sent for that were nice people. Then with our garage door issue, the tech that came out got it fixed.

The tech showed up and did his job. It was good. The only thing that wasn’t great was the five-hour time window. That should have been shortened down, instead of, “We can make it between 12:00 and 5:00.” So, that screwed up my entire day. There was one time that they got the wrong part, and they had to cancel the visit. So half my day was wasted there. Then the guy got sick and he couldn't go, so they canceled that also. But when he showed up, he was fine. He was in and out in five minutes. Everything worked when he was finished. It was a $100 deductible for the guy to come out. But the service call generally in the area is about 75 bucks just for someone to show up. For a $20 repair that takes five minutes, it shouldn't necessarily be a $100 deductible.
The first problem that I had a claim with American Home Shield was for the evap cooler. It turned into a major issue because I did something that seemed to be the right thing to do. I had a major leak, so I capped off the water supply. But it was the wrong thing to do. When the guy came up, he said, “That's defective. The water supply is capped off. We can't approve it.” So this was a catch-22. I had to cap off the water supply so I wouldn't continue to have a flood. But because the water supply was capped off, it meant that there was an alteration to the system, by American Home Shield's definition. So it turned into a major fight.

We were having gurgling sounds in the pipes. A technician was out here in about a day and a half. He was professional and he seemed to have fixed the problem. The noise stopped for about two days. But now, it was starting back and I may need to call again. A home warranty saves money because the cost could be pretty expensive, especially with labor. The warranty is a reasonable rate.

I have a little bit of an issue with American Home Shield. Our order was supposed to be acknowledged and the information sent to us because our washer was not repairable according to the gentleman that came out and checked it. So, we ordered a new one from the company and we hadn't had any response back. We had called for the exception of the response for who the person that was supposed to be bringing and delivering and installing it. I had that number and we've called that twice. The first time, we got hung up on. The second time, they didn't know about the order. So, we waited two more days and called Home Shield. They sped it up. We just got a notification today that it's going to be delivered on the 9th of February. We had an order that we did have problems with in the beginning, but it was between the shipper and the installer and Home Shield did straighten it out.
We had a previous repair for the garbage disposal right after we moved into our condo. The gentleman came out and fixed that the first time. We've been here about a little over a year, and we had another call that we had to put in because it was leaking all over the bottom of the cabinet. It was not related at all to the first gentleman that came and repaired it because it worked for quite a while after that. But it was something that they had to replace.

American Home Shield has a fairly simple claims submission process. You could call in or do it online. When my exhaust fan in the master bathroom wasn't working, somebody came out and repaired it. He addressed the issue and he was professional. Overall, AHS could send notifications that prices were going to be increased for my plan.

My washer, dryer and refrigerator had issues simultaneously. First was the call for the dryer then two days later, both the washing machine and the refrigerator broke. The repair man had to fix the springs in the washer and the tumbler, and now, it's working great. The dryer had the clip in the front that couldn't shut the door, so we had to replace that. With the refrigerator, ice had built up and was stopping the fan. It was the heating mechanism that wasn't heating and the repair man had to replace it. He had to come out a couple of times because he didn't know that was the heating mechanism till he started pulling apart the refrigerator. He was great.
Overall, everything's well and I've been happy. I'm waiting now for the plumber for my toilet and sink that's decided to break down on me. Every single time I turn around, something else keeps on breaking, so American Home Shield has come cost-effective for me. Because if I was to have the plumber and everybody else keep on coming in, it gets expensive.

With AHS it's always been a really good process. I pay the $120 deductible and they schedule the service. I’ve never had a bad problem where they didn't take care of something or didn't cover something. I had a leaking faucet in my bathtub. AHS gave Patriot Plumbing a call and they called me. They thought the issue was a bad cartridge in the faucet control so they fixed that as well as a weepy sink in the bathroom. That went really well.
I have another claim there's an electrical company that AHS sent out to replace a basement bathroom fan. The only issue is that the fan unit they found for replacement didn't have a light on it where my previous one did. So they said they were going to come back with the internal guts of the replacement to put a light in. They have come back yet and it's been a week.
AHS's warranty is a good value. Like in the case of the bathroom cartridge for the leaky tub faucet, the cartridge itself was $90. So if I pay the $120 deductible, and the part itself is 90 bucks, the warranty closely pays for itself with the service.

We've always been pretty good with American Home Shield. We've only ever gotten one bad contractor but that was many years ago, and then American Home Shield didn't make us use them again. They've always come through for us, and they're always prompt. Also, the price is good. When the washer quit working, the technician got it working but he said it could go out anytime. So he had to replace the pump and he had to order it.

American Home Shield is really nice and really, really friendly. They are very helpful. But it takes a long time to connect and get things done through all the subcontractors they give you. My refrigerator broke down on December 28 and the parts were ordered on January 12. The guy from Express Appliance just installed the parts last week and it’s still making the same noise. Express Appliance is no good. When I had something else happen and American Home Shield said they were going to give me Express Appliances, I told them, “Please give me someone else.” So they sent me GE Appliances. American Home Shield is great but their subcontractors are not up to spec. I live in South Plainfield, New Jersey and most of these subcontractors are coming from 30 or 40-minute rides from me. Also, a lot of their subcontractors close at 4:00.
I have a dishwasher that still hasn't been installed. It's been a month now. Mr. Appliance was supposed to do the dishwasher. I called the lady and said, “You're supposed to come to do the dishwasher.” She said, “We don't do dishwashers.” So I’m wondering why American Home Shield connected them to me to do the dishwasher. I called American Home Shield and they said Mr. Appliance handles dishwashers. Then someone from her office called me on Friday night at 7:00 and said they're coming Monday. I asked her, “Aren't you the one who adamantly said, 'I don't do dishwashers'?” She said, “We're making a special deal for you.” That makes no sense.
