The ice dispenser on our refrigerator wasn’t working recently. The tech said it was the little plastic part inside that had to be fixed. So then he had to come back once that part came in. It took about eight days. It's okay now. We've been satisfied with the people AHS sent out. This is our second home and we're not here all the time. We like AHS for its convenience. AHS is worth the money to spend every month for that.

A tech from Oasis Heating and Air came out. He had the parts needed on the truck and fixed the issue I had on the same day. He was also timely and responsive. He let us know what time he was going to be there and the next day, he gave us updates on times. You don't get that from a lot of contractors anymore and AHS should put more companies that kept time like he did.

American Home Shield is good and saved us a lot of money. I utilized the service ‘cause the blower motor went in my heat and they were able to help. A technician came out but didn't have the motor to fit my system. They had to order the motor, and someone else came out. The second guy was good. But I was a little confused about my contract. I thought it was 60 something dollars, but apparently, it’s 70 something dollars.

The unit was not coming on. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for a contractor to come out. It was really cold so I'm glad American Home Shield was able to get to it the very next day. We had to spend a day and half without the heater. But it has been fixed. Prior to that, we had an issue with the actual service on the dishwasher that was to be replaced and we're still waiting for a new dishwasher to be brought in. The one that they brought last week was damaged when it arrived. Luckily, we found out that the dishwasher was damaged when it got to the house before it was unloaded off the truck. So, we're still waiting on a dishwasher. It has been more than a month. Things like that should be expedited.

So far, the service is good. The only thing is sometimes I wish they're a little more timely. I had a pool heater, and they ruled that it was completely dead. They needed to replace it, but it took forever to get the approval to move forward. Generally, they are fast when you first contact them. But when you kind of need a part or a replacement, that takes a long time to close the deal. I have a claim right now with a stovetop where the repair person said there's no way to repair it because the parts are so old. No one's contacted me to tell me how they're going to go about replacing it.

All the vendors American Home Shield use are decent. Recently, the control switch went dead so the contractor came out. They were able to get to work and they ordered it. Within a couple of days, they had it back in my house. I had one issue a year or two ago with AHS with my microwave but we got that resolved. But I gotta call them back for the same issue. It was two different companies. It was a little cluster, but overall, it's a good service. It's very hard to understand a lot of their representatives. And when I ask for a manager, there's always a, “Oh, somebody’s busy. We can't do this.” They've been good so far, but they always can improve. The price is going up. And sometimes, the service is not as good as it should be.

The service has been really good overall. The last guy took six times to fix my dishwasher but he fixed it without buying any parts. He figured the problem out. I would recommend him and AHS to anybody. Having AHS is very good. But my husband made a decision to transfer to another company. So we're going to have to cancel.

We had three claims with AHS. One with burners on a stove, one with a washing machine, one with a dryer. The technician seemed to know what he was doing. The issue on the stove was the burner. He had to replace it with a like-for-like because that's all he was allowed to do. The product that AHS paid to put in, we already know, is going to go out again. The better alternative product was cheaper, but AHS wouldn't allow him to put that in. It would have been a cost-savings and it would have been a better product. But because it didn't have the UL listing number on it, he wasn't allowed to put it in. As far as the dryer, they paid for a replacement heating element, which he replaced. On the washing machine, the issue was a bearing. Because they don't source the bearing separately, he had to order a completely new tub, which is on backorder. We're still waiting for that.

I had issues with my washer and dishwasher and the service that I received was good. The person came almost immediately to check both. The washer was fixed a couple of days later but I'm still waiting for my dishwasher that should be replaced but I have not heard anything. The person did what he was supposed to do. But it seems that this was outsourced to a different place so it's a different company.
I paid for the difference of the price and I have been following up with the tracking and it’s stuck. Nothing has moved. Apparently, the shipment should have been completed but nobody has come with the dishwasher to install it so that's what I need to figure out. Still, I highly recommend American Home Shield because in all these types of things, the repair can be very expensive. And sometimes, because of the new technology, there are things that cannot be repaired and you need to replace them, which is when American Home Shield comes handy.

AHS seems to be doing the job, so I'm happy. I've had the same repair company out twice and they did excellently. They would call me right away, the same day when I'd call in a claim. They were also out the next couple of days. They were good.

My microwave went out. The technician was at the house. We tried to take the power off of the microwave because it's a 230-volt microwave. So, he went through the breaker panel to try to find the breaker that isolated the microwave. When he left, I noticed that the heater no longer worked in my upstairs part of my house. So, that was another call. The people that came for the heater said that the problem was there was no power to the heater, so I needed an electrician. So, we put a call in for that. When he showed up, he replaced the breaker. The heater is working fine now. So, the issue for that was all breaker-related. The original technician was taken off of the project. I don't know why. And they are coordinating a new one for me. Overall, things are working well. The people that American Home Shield have sent seemed knowledgeable and have been very polite.

The most recent claim I had was for the garbage disposal. The claims process went pretty good but there was a point where they were trying to replace the garbage disposal with a cheaper unit because they had similar specifications. They eventually put the right one in, I just had to be like, “Hey. No, you gotta put the right one in.” Other than that, we haven't had any problems with AHS.

It was cold outside and someone external from my household used my water hose without asking me. So, it caused the hose bibb to crack and it ended up flooding into my basement. The next day, I called the plumbing company that was listed on the tags on my pipes and they were unable to come till a week later. Also, they're not under American Home Shield. The next day, I called AHS. They tried to give me another company, which I declined. Dave and Sons was the third company and I said that I would rather go with them. They called me and we made an appointment, and they came out the very next day. On the same day that they came out, they came back about five hours later and fixed it.
American Home Shield needs to do a better job, in general, of vetting what contractors they have. If you look up a contractor and it has a bunch of bad reviews, they probably should take them off of their list because they're going to represent them. I'm googling these companies and declining them, and I had to get to the third company. American Home Shield sometimes pick companies that aren't that reliable.

My dishwasher stopped working and the claim process was easy. I went in and gave the model number. J&W called me and scheduled an appointment. Techs came out, spent 15 minutes, fixed the dishwasher, and it's been good. So far, American Home Shield seems good. It's a little pricey but there'll be other things that I have to have fixed. A lot of the warranties I've had on other homes were not American Home Shield and they were a pain. It was challenging to get someone out there to fix something, like an air conditioner.

I had a claim for the pool and the guy was out here the next morning. It was amazing. When I have a real problem, I'm a super happy customer in a lot of ways. But then, when I really, really need AHS, I'm not really sure that the delivery is there. So their service is kind of a hit or miss. Sometimes, it's amazing. But getting through call times is so frustrating. I'm about to put a third house with AHS but I do debate that because what I'm paying for my warranties are astronomical figures.
I put a house with AHS back in October and everything checked out in inspection. It was awesome. Then I got here and I did tile and some remodeling and updates, paint and stuff. I used my microwave it wasn't working. So I called AHS and they put a service request in. But I never heard from anybody. I was here for five solid weeks working. Then I put another request in and I paid the money and no one ever showed up or followed up. Because I didn't hear from anyone, I just bellied up and bought a brand-new microwave. But overall, I am a happy customer. I've had good experiences with their vendors when they come.

American Home Shield is a good service to have for homeowners. I scheduled two different contractors to come this past Monday. One was coming for the dishwasher and the other was coming for the garbage disposal. The contractor who came for the garbage disposal arrived and completed the service request. The other one was supposed to come on Monday but they never contacted me to say they weren't coming or that they were running late. I contacted American Home Shield to let them know and if they could take that request out of the system and top dispatch another company, which they did. Another company came on Wednesday and started the work on the dishwasher.

Last year, I had a leak in my shower leaking down to the main floor and the people who came out said there was nothing they could do about it. I was out of $100 for nothing. I called AHS and told them the contractor didn't fix anything. No one ever got back to me during this pandemic. I wasn't happy and I almost canceled the warranty. Then, I filed a claim for the heating and AHS had a glitch in their system. They asked to enter my information into the automated system and it didn't read it. I had to request for a person to come on the phone. That was two weeks ago. But it wasn't a major issue, it just took a little longer to submit the claim. Also, the contractor who came out for that, AAction Air Conditioning & Heating, was wonderful.

I submit claims online, which is very easy, and I haven't had any problems with American Home Shield. I've been in a house for four years now. I came from out of state, and almost immediately, we had a problem with the air conditioner where a wire burned out. It was 100 and something degrees, and they were right there, and I've been in love ever since. A-US Air Conditioning recently came out and I like them too. They came, figured out what it was almost immediately and they never spent over 20 minutes taking care of the problem.

The contractor gave me a window of 12:00 to 5:00. I was here until about 12:30, but I hadn't heard from them. So I called and I asked if they could narrow the window or tell me what was going on. They said that the tech had me last on the list, so it'd be more like 3:00 to 5:00 and that he'd call me 30 minutes before he arrives. So I said okay and since it was 12:30, I decided to drop my vacuum off, pick one up, and bring it back to the house, which was nearby. I went over there and came back 30 minutes later. Then, I got a message saying that the tech had been at my place and gone. So I called them and the rep talked to the dispatcher. Later on, they decided that he would come back. So, he came back and he appeared so disinterested in the job.
He looked at the dishwasher, made some minor adjustment, closed the door, and said that that was it. I told him that that door was not hooking right, there was an opening at the bottom of it, and it was not drying the dishes. He said we probably needed some parts for it, so he'd take a picture. He opened the door, took a picture of the top part of the dishwasher, then asked me to put my initial on a lot of different spaces on the back of a page and sign it. He said that it was just saying that he didn't break or destroy anything in my home while he was there. Then on the way out, he started complimenting me about the house.
I've been with American Home Shield for years and usually, getting a tech out doesn't take too long and the service has been acceptable. That’s why I continue to have it. But this time, it wasn’t a good experience at all and the tech didn't fix the dishwasher. I already paid for somebody to come out here to check it out and I thought they would follow up themselves. So I guess I’ll get a call from American Home Shield about the parts and somebody coming back. But I don't think he took enough pictures to even know what parts to even order or what to do.

It was really easy to do an online claim to American Home Shield. I got the contractor's name, address, and their phone number. The guy that came out was awesome. He was on time. I called them and said, “Please call us ‘cause we don't live with my mom.” My mom doesn't like to have strangers in the house without somebody being here. So, they called us and they let us know that he was coming. He was very polite. He troubleshoot the situation. We thought we had it remedied but didn't. So, I called them back and he was back out within the same day. He capped it off and he gave my mom an emergency number and said, “If it goes out again, call me right away.” They went above and beyond what most heating companies do.

The water tank released randomly on its own without hitting the handle and I had pipes leaking from my third floor. Anywhere Plumbing was able to come fairly quickly and they fixed both problems. So, it was smooth and the technician was experienced and knew what he was doing. He was a very nice person. The plumbing experience was good and Anywhere Plumbing did a great job.
From a customer's standpoint, I would like to see broader coverage being offered by American Home Shield, especially where I am located. The service is hard to get sometimes. If they cover, great. Everything falls into the radar. But if they determine it's not in the scope, then it's not always easy for the consumer to send a reliable provider. I understand there's a higher cost for broader coverage but there's a market for that, especially in where I live.
I lucked out by using American Home Shield. It’s a good service and I especially like that they don't just come out for one problem. If you have multiple plumbing issues, you can group them so they can solve the issue for you in one trip and saving you the trip fee too. But in the past, I had used companies that only solved one problem. Even if both your ACs had issues and they're next to each other, they had to call for two trips to solve the two ACs. So, you have to look up on the detail levels of coverage when you consider which warranty to buy. Sometimes cost is not everything to consider.

I am appalled at the level of bad service from this company. If I could give them less than one star, I would. This company partners with one star contractors. They tell you which contract you have to use and if you have trouble with that contractor, they provide little to no service to assist you in resolving your issue and getting your service call completed. The representative are very good at asking for your credit card before placing your service request. They are also excellent at informing you that they don't employ these contractors, they just refer them. If you need a receipt for any work they have done, you have to call the contractor and get it yourself. If the contractor doesn't call you back, please keep trying them. If their representatives give you wrong information, they take little responsibility. They are excellent at taking your monthly payment. I do not recommend this company at all.

The drain on my faucet was slow and the hot water was not coming to the drain. I submitted a claim by phone and dealing with American Home Shield's rep was frustrating because they kept saying that they didn't have somebody in my area. So, I had to wait for 24 to 48 hours before somebody would get ahold of me. I had placed numerous tickets for various things and there were no workers in my area. Then, the only way that you speak to somebody in the United States is if you're asking to come on as a new client, which they can't help you because, again, their call center is in Singapore.
But the next day after the initial call, I received an email about the company, Janicek's Plumbing, that would come out. As soon as I got that info, I called that company and asked the to put me on the list because I needed the repair ASAP. I was trying to coordinate the two appointments that I had made, so it was quick once the ball got rolling. The tech who came out was 100% prepared. He had to replace the filter valve and he was great. I like their company and I'm trying to seek them out independently for a tub install.
But I also had a claim for my dishwasher because the racks are rusted and I'm missing some tines, but most importantly the upper rack is not washing appropriately. So, I asked the tech to come out and when he did, there was no signage on his truck. I was also told that he would call me within 30 minutes of him coming, but he didn't call. So, I had this random vehicle in my driveway and I didn't realize that was going to be him. His name was Chewy and he tested the dishwasher for a few minutes. He noted that I needed some kind of new motor and said that he didn't know if AHS would approve two racks, but he would for sure get me one.
So, I asked if it was something that he had in his truck but he said no and that it'd be a couple of weeks. Then, I got an email notification saying that the part was in and if I was available that day. So, I texted the person back saying I was available after 4 o'clock and asked if got both racks. And the person said he didn't know what had been ordered and what had received since the one who ordered it was a different person.
So, the gentleman showed up to repair my dishwasher and he didn't have the racks with him. He went to repair the motor and needed my husband's help, who has hernia. Then, the tech proceeded to cut himself but when my husband asked if he could get him a Band-Aid for he was bleeding, he said no. Then he had to take a minute because he was about to pass out because of the sight of blood, which was not a lot of blood. But my husband said that that man was out of it. Then, I was very direct and told him that he promised me that he would put in an order for both racks and I would most likely get one rack. So, I asked him where were the racks.
All in all, AHS hook you in very nicely by having American representatives answer the new calls for purchasing the warranty but when it comes to calling in and tracking down claims, there's nobody ever in my area. I've had numerous claims over the years with appliances that needed repair and it was always the same thing. At one point, it was some weeks into months that they didn't have somebody, so I had to end up paying for it out of my own pocket. Then it was months later of getting reimbursed and making constant phone calls to Singapore. It was horrible. And the thing auto renews, so I'm stuck.

I noticed it was leaking. So, I put in a claim. The guy came out, didn't even tell me he was here. He just came through my back gate and sawed off the PVC pipe and said, "It's gonna be two weeks." I never heard from the guy who said he's gonna have to order the part. So, I had paid someone $1,200 out of my pocket to come to fix it so we can swim that weekend. He did it in a couple of hours.

Submitting claims with AHS has been fairly easy. Just go on the website and choose from the type of issue that you're running into. Plumbfix Plumbing came out recently. There was a leak that I had fixed myself and then there were some other issues, too. Our gas appliances weren't running very well. It turned out that my earthquake emergency shut-off tripped, so it was a fairly simple fix. The tech was great. He came the same day, so that was very nice. He was very helpful and definitely did a good job.
Not all of the issues we've had have been resolved, but the two that we had issues with were resolved really quickly. I have one claim that's outstanding that I'll have to go to arbitration over because it's something that AHS is claiming is not covered. It feels like American Home Shield is trying to do everything they can to not cover something when something needs to be fixed. Which I understand is a business, but for something that's not super straightforward that hasn't been covered, that's a little bit frustrating. But the other things have been covered well.

I heard dripping in my ceiling and that's when I filed a claim. They sent out One Flush Plumbing to assess the situation, who responded to me quickly. But after that, it went downhill with One Flush. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone, Rob, and set up a time. He told me that he would be going out of town and he was sending his friend, Dwayne, to come over. When that guy came out, he cut a hole in our kitchen ceiling to inspect the plumbing where the sound of the drip was coming from and then he left. I communicated with American Home Shield to find out what the diagnosis was and how we were going to proceed with the problem. I came to find out that American Home Shield was told certain things on their diagnosis report and they were just going off of that.
We got in contact with Dwayne and he told my husband that if he could have fixed it, he would have. He said we should get a second opinion and not to bother him because he was dealing with family problems. We tried to get back in touch with Rob but he said he was going out of town. Then, I called American Home Shield back to find out what was going on because now they're sending out a second person to patch the hole up and the problem wasn't even fixed yet.
I explained to the person that One Flush told me to “get a second opinion,” and the rep said to me that it doesn't say that in the diagnosis. He said that in order to proceed with getting a second opinion, it has to be in the diagnosis. He got in touch with One Flush and Rob told them about getting a second opinion. He's going to be calling back American Home Shield today to have that documented. I was told to wait 24 hours and then call back to see if that's been done so that I can release another company to come out.
American Home Shield is doing as best they can. I had the situation elevated to a supervisor at one point and that was difficult to get to that point. I got through to someone on that first level and they said they'd elevate it and then they hung up on me. I called back and they said I'd need to answer some questions first but I had been through that process. Then, when they did connect me, the supervisor said, “Well, I understand that you didn't wanna give any information.” I've just been trying to be patient.
Also, I was connected with sales at one point during this recent claim. I was told I didn't have the Platinum, which would include the extra protection. They transferred me to a salesperson who upgraded me and assured me of certain things. Then I came to find out that what he told me wasn't exactly correct. They had to apologize for that and said the sales rep shouldn't have told me that. And when I approved for an upgrade, he accidentally put my premium for the whole year instead of doing monthly payments as we discussed. I had to call back and have that changed.
There's still some pending payment out there because they took out taxes right out of my checking account that I was waiting for them to put back in. There's a whole money part of this too that's been frustrating, but I'm trying to wait and see if it rectifies itself. American Home Shield's guys come in on time. The recent guy did a good job. The appliances I have were different. One is for my washer, the other for the refrigerator. Both times, he was really good. He did everything by the book. I appreciate him. I would always like to have him. However, when I started it was only 50 something dollars. My bill is going up to $79 now. I don't know why AHS keeps changing the price every year. They never call me to say what the reason is for changing. They just keep taking the money out of my account. Other than that, I'm okay with them. That's why I'm staying with them. They should keep doing what they are doing.

The furnace was making some crazy noises. It didn’t sound like it was working properly. It was easy when I submitted a claim with AHS. I told them I had an issue. The rep looked at whatever he needed to and got somebody else to me. I was pleased. The contracting company called pretty soon, a day or two, and then they scheduled an appointment and got out. The tech showed up on time like he said he would. It ended up nothing being wrong, said everything was normal. Said if there are any more problems, to give him a call. I'd recommend AHS. We have multiple issues. The contractors fixed everything. One of the things was the faucet, and the guy couldn't fix it. So we had to get it replaced. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the exact model that was earlier there. It was older. So, they didn't make those models before. But it was a brass faucet. Apparently, American Home Shield doesn't cover the same type. So they were okay putting a chrome one versus a brass one. But what difference does that make? I’m not sure why they couldn't cover the full thing. That was my only little concern there.
There were some drainage issues in some kitchen, bathroom sinks. The main reason I called AHS was, there was a leakage underneath the kitchen sink. And one of the pipes had broken. So, they replaced that pipe as well. And as far as service goes, everything was fine. I opened the service request and everybody came on time. Since they said they cover the appliances, I hoped that they could have covered that brass faucet.

This is the first time that American Home Shield haven't done a great job. When the pool pump and the dishwasher broke, they fixed it. They could have said that they believe me and they would cover the pool heater. But I know that’s not practical. I recommend American Home Shield to anybody who buys a house. The package that we got with American Home Shield was really nice because we've used it, so far, in the last five months on our dishwasher and our clothes dryer. So, it's kind of nice to have it when you buy an older home to be able to have a little fallback benefit. The first time I did a claim, it took forever. If you put the request on the website, the availability may not be for several days. It was like two weeks before the person came out to do our dishwasher. Also, the first time, they didn't show up. Then the second time, maybe there was a weather day. It was ridiculous.
I talked to someone from American Home Shield on the phone. They said, normally, it’s like 48 hours. The next time we needed it, I've called and made an appointment on the phone rather than scheduling it on the computer, and that response time was a lot faster. It was a couple days. We had a policy with American Home Shield in California for years. Because of the service they gave us, we chose to go with them again here in Texas. We've been in Texas for two years. Everything that American Home Shield has done for us has been a plus. We had a couple of things that had to be checked. American Home Shield's policy is, if they can't fix it then they replace it.
We had an air conditioner in our 1984 condo that went out. We had to bring the wiring up to meet the new air condition they put in. That was in the paperwork so that was no surprise to us. All in One Appliance also came out because there was noise with our washer. There was something that had to be replaced in the washer, which is just two years old. Our technician was amazing and had great customer care. He was knowledgeable and he shared with me and the wife what was actually going on with the machine. They didn't have the part and it had to be ordered. The same technician then came back and fixed our washer. Again, he told us what he did and made sure everything was working before he left. We're grateful for him.
Having a home warranty relieves the headache of, “How much is this gonna cost me?” In California, we paid 75 for the service fee. Now, it’s 100 bucks. I know that's all I'm gonna pay and when technicians come out, they're going to either fix the unit or replace it. I don't have to worry about the per hour charge, plus parts, etcetera.

I have an investment property and unfortunately, renters broke a lot of things. The washer, dishwasher, and microwave pretty much were no longer working. The refrigerator issue was more cosmetic like having handles off but it was still working. So, that was not covered, but American Home Shield replaced everything else. It was not of the same value, but at least they replaced it. Royal Appliance came and then took a look at the appliances and pretty much deemed that they needed replacement. The parts were not available.
Requesting service is pretty easy. I'm not thrilled with some of the contractors they pick, but then when I do bring up the issue, they send a second opinion. So overall, I've been happy with American Home Shield. They cover a product even if it's old. A lot of places won't cover it if it's old, but they will cover even my 28 years old water heater. That's the last thing they're replacing.

I've always enjoyed the service of AHS. Not having to evaluate whether you're finding an expert who knows what to do for your situation is beneficial. If you have needed similar types of repairs with different appliances, getting to know one of their providers is better than just anybody coming in your home at different times. The familiarity and the expertise of the providers have been excellent.
Appliance Avenue has come at various times. I had a dryer and a dishwasher go up. This time, the refrigerator had a problem. The tech has been excellent at diagnosing the issue and letting me know whether or not this is American Home Shield covered or not and sharing with me what he knows about the appliance from a purchasing consumer point of view. He's also good at sharing what he finds aren't working well on the public. He's been very timely. He has to order it based on American Home Shield vending for it. His company calls and sets dates and expectations. They set you up to the point where you know where you stand with it.
American Home Shield had an upgrade program two years ago. I was able to pull the money together and replace the HVAC on two levels at a very good price. Not only was it a good price, but the vendor was able to allow me to explain problems I'd had throughout the years in the home. He could tell me why I was having those problems. He also stayed on schedule. He had good staff that cleaned up their metals, fittings and filings. All little pieces of sharp material were all cleaned up properly. That was a really good program and we have been so satisfied with what we got done. However, my price is up to $80 a month and it's too high. I was at $60 a month just 12 months ago. I don't understand the cost creep up.

I have no complaints in that respect. I had a problem back up in Canton, North Carolina 10 years or so ago, about the people that they had subcontracted with to come out to work on the issue, but that was all squared away.
Whenever AHS increased though, I never received anything. The price went from 80 something dollars up to $99 every month. However, I'm human and it may have gotten slipped out and not noticed. My wife called and that's in the process of getting taken care of. Other than that, we're in the process of moving and we just had another house added on on American Home Shield of ours, down on the coast of North Carolina.

Our furnace was not heating the house properly and we suspected what the issue was, but we called American Home Shield to have somebody come out. Dawson Services was sent out and they confirmed that we had the wrong type of filter in and that was causing some issues. So now it’s got the right filter and it's doing better.
We've also got this issue with our stove and we've had it a couple times. The stove was pretty much new when we moved in the house and we've had pieces replaced on it. This is the third time we've had to replace and it's starting to get expensive when you have to pay every single time to have somebody come out and replace something on it. We're a little frustrated that we keep having things replaced on it. Twice before, it was the same company and on the third time, it's a different company. So, our hope is that they figured out what was wrong and we won't hear from them again, or we'll have a problem again. But it remains to be seen.
No one is in business replacing stuff. AHS wants to fix it but there should be at least some sort of path where they say that they’re going to fix it this many times and then, they're going to call it a lemon and replace it, instead of guessing whether they’re gonna fix it this time or if they’re gonna replace it. It would be nice to have a regular understanding of that.
I'm not a huge believer in warranties like this so I'd be hard pressed to recommend them but people should look at the age of their house and their things, and understand when they're supposed to break down and fail. Then, they should weigh that against the cost of spending for the warranty per year. If you’ve got $25,000 worth of appliances that should fail on that year, it might be a good idea. Last year, we had our water heater go out and we had some issues with our furnace. We saw a return on our investment but that doesn't mean we will every year so I would caution people to do that.

It's the worst service I've ever received from anybody in my entire life. We've been with them now for 21 years and the only reason we haven't canceled this service is they've been piecing our units together for 20 years and eventually, they will have to replace them. They deny claims and they send service people out who tell me that I need permits for things that don't require permits. I have two elderly parents here and that's of no concern to them. Every year, our air conditioning breaks and every year, they have somebody come out and do something different. Then, they try to overcharge me and sell me something I don't need.
Fortunately, I pay somebody to clean and service my units twice a year, which I have to do because if not, the warranty is null and void, and that man lets me know exactly what's going on with our units. Right now, in both of our heating units, the heat exchangers are going to crack eventually. AHS refuses to preempt the problem. They would just rather it crack, we get the carbon monoxide poisoning, then they'll come and fix it.
I wish that somebody would do something about the service. They raise their fees to come out and service the customer every year and every year, the service gets worse and worse. We now request only one company come out and service our units because that company helps us and makes sure that they're keeping records. They let us know something should still be under warranty.
These units are gonna blow up any minute and AHS will then have to do something about it. But the sad thing about that is they're gonna charge me thousands and thousands of dollars to do it because I will then have to upgrade the system to whatever the new system requirements are for 2022, 2023, 2024. They're not going to cover the entire cost as they should, because there are so many little tiny type disclaimers that nobody is aware of.

Also, when I signed up for American Home Shield, they had said anything to do with heating and cooling was covered. Over the wintertime, my unit went kaput and they sent somebody to come fix it. I called American Home Shield to get a tune-up for the summer for my air conditioner. But they didn't do that. My contract says on there that my contract comes with one free tune-up a year that I get, and I don't have to pay the $100 fee. So, it was supposed to be waived for this year for the tune-up on my air conditioning unit, but I still ended up paying that $100 and I didn’t even get a tune-up. I talked to customer service and he said that they would credit me back $100. But they never did.
AHS should allow their yearly tune-ups on air conditioners, at least one year for their customers, especially if I’m a platinum account holder. So, I have it at platinum when I paid the extra money for it. But it would have been nice if I had the free where they came out and just tuned it up and made sure it was all ready for the summer. Also, someone going over the policy with someone would help out a lot because people don't know what's covered and what's not.

I've not been real happy with American Home Shield lately. We have not been pleased with their service. We have asked repeatedly for a copy of the contract to be mailed. We asked this the last time. They still didn't mail it. They sent it to me as an email where I'm supposed to buy a printer and cartridges and print everything. But we don't want that. We want a copy of the contract mailed to us.
The other thing is they upped the rate and never notified anyone. We just know it when it comes out of the bank account, which has cost about $800 in the last two years, and overdraft fees. The last thing that really pissed us off was nobody told us that this is when it's going to renew because we never got a copy of the contract. Not once, not twice, but the third time now, we've had to pay $600, $700, $800 out of our pocket for Freon. AHS has a policy that covers Freon. If we had known that, we would have upgraded to that policy, given the fact that the techs have been out there at least 15 times on this air condition system and they just won't replace it. They just keep Band-Aiding it together.
Then the last time we called, the guy said, “You can't add that new policy. You are two days past that” We said, “We don't know ‘cause you didn't even tell us when the hell our contract was due. You didn't tell us that you were renewing it automatically.” We asked, “Can we add it now?” Then they said, “No. You can't add it now because we're sure you're gonna have to have another $700 worth of Freon.” Then we said, “Okay. So can we add it after this claim?” Then we heard 40 different things. They were like, “No. You have to add it 30 days before it's due, 30 days after its due.”
My biggest complaint was about my stove. The burners don't regulate. When you have a glass top stove, there's a red light that indicates the stove may still be hot. Finally, after four months of messing with this and three different carriers, AHS sent somebody out but it still doesn't regulate. The red light never went out. I told the guy when he left. He said, “Oh, it doesn't matter. You don't need that red light.” Then I tried to call back. They said, “Oh, no. We can't cover that now.” So I still have a stove that doesn't work correctly. It's just been a mess. Then when we called AHS back, they said, “We want 100 bucks.” Nobody has called me and said, “Can we do a courtesy call out there to fix your stove that was broken a year ago that we never fixed?” With my HVAC system, AHS got us a good company. But with small appliances, the guy that came out to fix our dryer, busted the whole pan on my dryer. I had to call back to get that replaced for free.
The biggest thing AHS needs to do is start telling people when their premiums are going to go up. They also need to start sending out paper contracts when elderly people ask for them. They also need to start letting people know, “You’re within your 30 to 60-day range you make changes on your policy. If you're going to do it, do it now.”

A lot of people I know use American Home Shield, and they may have had a great experience, but for us, it's not worth having American Home Shield. My dryer broke almost two weeks ago, and today was the first day they could send somebody out. I also got to order the part, or they don't even know if they can get the part, so now another week or two is going to go by that I don't have a dryer. There's got to be a better system. This is not the first time it's happened to us too. We had this issue with our washing machine two years ago and it took forever. Whatever company they contract out, they're very busy and they don't have time. I'm aggravated. Because I'm doing laundry right now and I have to hang everything up, even my underwear.
AHS should get more subcontractors, instead of having to wait 12 to 14 days for somebody to come out. They probably don't work weekends, but we still have a household to run. This is the first time I've ever given anybody a bad review, but that's how unhappy we are. I'll probably cancel everything once this is done and put something on Yelp about how unhappy we are.

AHS has emergency service, but they don't have emergency service for the same day. One time, my toilet was backed up on the floor where my mom was. She was sick and elderly, and they didn't have anybody that could come out that next day to come out and fix the toilet or do repairs for the toilet. So we had to wait a couple of days. If you have electrical problems and the person is on the ventilator, they need to have a company that can come the next day to fix that and the claims process needs to be more easy for emergencies when you have elderly or children sick that’s on breathing machines.
Their customer service support is also terrible because they contract it out to outside the country. Everybody that's on their support team is from somewhere that doesn't speak English or doesn't know the English language good enough to represent for you to talk to, so it becomes very difficult. And when you ask for a supervisor, they really get nasty and do not want to transfer you to a supervisor. Last time, I asked for a supervisor and they put me on hold for the longest. Then they came back and said there was no supervisor available. But two days later, a supervisor called me and by that time, everything was starting to fall into place.
Recently, my water heater started leaking. The techs came out and said that it couldn't be fixed. So American Home Shield purchased a new one and it was sent to the techs. But instead of them sending items to a company, they should send it to the house so it could be at the house when the company comes to prepare it. Other than that, the techs came out right away, put the new water heater in, and it's working nicely.
All in all, I would recommend AHS, but I'm still a dissatisfied customer because of their customer service. If they're going to do outside countries, the reps need to be able to speak and be able to fully grasp the understanding of what you're saying to them. I also don’t understand why the contract goes up so often. It should be locked in at a certain point in your contract and you should be locked in every year. You should not have to worry about whether your contract would go up. It would go up two pennies, but that’s still two pennies too much when you have locked in. I could see that if you’re starting out with new people there's a different price. But for customers that's been here for years, why keep going up on their services?

When the dryer stopped heating, we called somebody to have them come out. They were supposed to come out within two days, and they gave us a 4-hr window. The window came and went. My father called them back and they said they weren’t gonna be able to send anybody out. They pushed it back almost a week for the next appointment. When a gentleman came and looked at it, it was the thermal fuse, and he replaced that. But as far as the vent cleaning, I had to go in two days later, take apart the dryer myself, and clean out the air duct vents to ensure that the excess lint was gone. He said that was why the thermal fuse went out. It was a buildup of the air lint. He said we could hire somebody to clean it out but I looked online and realized it wasn't that big of a process. I ended up buying a couple tools which are things that I can use around the house forever. It was not money lost but I just thought that he would have done a little bit more for the service call.
We had a problem with our dishwasher, and American Home Shield was going to replace it. But the guys that brought it in were not allowed to install it so we had to wait a couple of days for a plumber to come in and install it. Logistic-wise, American Home Shield could have the plumber and the guys come at the same time. But I like American Home Shield. So, I had a claim out there for a whole month before Sears ever came out. It was a terrible experience. American Home Shield needs contractors that are gonna have great customer service. It's been three days and nobody's called me yet to tell me if they found somebody to come out and fix my water heater. On the other hand, I had to pay $100 for someone to come out here for my AC unit. It was functioning on auxiliary and my electric bill kept going up the last couple of months. I called American Home Shield and they sent Shepherd's out here a month ago. The guy couldn't find anything and he didn't know the system. My next electric bill came and it was $200 higher than the bill was before.
I called Rappahannock and got somebody to come out here. They told me my air conditioner was staying on auxiliary most of the time and it's got a problem. I called them back and the guy just left here a few minutes ago. He's got to file a claim with AHS to get it approved. The air conditioning unit we have is a Bosch, and right now, it's not fixed. I had 2-10 Home Warranty and I didn't like them, so I called this company. One of our kids has it and he was happy, but until you file a claim, you don't know anything. We had a toilet that kept running after you flush it. I tried jiggling the handle, it would go away, then it came back. We decided to call it in and the tech who came out was wonderful. He did a new plug and some other stuff, and the toilet was fine. But then later on that night, I noticed it was running again. We called it in again and that was when I thought that since he had to come out again, we should just buy a toilet that sits higher. So, we asked the guy how much was it to have a new toilet so we didn't have to worry about the issue because we thought it was the mechanism inside the tank that kept failing. He said they could do it since they were a plumbing company.
So we went to Home Depot and got the toilet. Then, the tech set up an appointment to come and install the new toilet. But when the guy showed up to install the toilet, all hell broke loose. There was stuff leaking under the toilet and he thought it spread to the walls. He never even got to repalce the toilet with the new one and he had to get his supervisor involved. Now we've got our insurance company, Hippo, and our homeowners’ insurance company involved because American Home Shield only does so much. They'll do the plumbing part and they'll do the toilet. But a part of the floor needs to be repaired since it's all wet. And they had to get some remediation service that checks for mold and asbestos. It's a mandatory thing, so someone else had to come out.
Other than that, I have no complaints about American Home Shield and I recommend them 100%. They've always come through and the plumbing company that they assigned to us has been great. Everyone has been very kind, nice, and respectful. We just don't have a toilet yet. The last gentleman that came through the restoration has to do the floor and correct that problem before the plumbing company can come in and do their job. We also had we had to pay 125 out of pocket for the tech to come and install the toilet. All in all, we rely on American Home Shield for stuff that our family cannot help us with and even though the price went up from 40 something to 60 something dollars a month, it's still 100% worth it.

One of the burners was also bad, the one that was always going, and they replaced that too. Mr. Appliance is very good. They’re very nice and courteous. It’s just the way they keep going with this cooktop, they keep replacing this and that. And it’s all within a matter of weeks at a time because of the ordering process that takes time, especially with COVID, trying to get ahold of parts. In my opinion, it winds up costing more than what it would have been to replace the cooktop right from the beginning. One of the repair people said to me, "That’s the way they work. If it’s not completely busted out, they won’t replace it."
Another thing is when the coverage started out, American Home Shield didn’t say that after the first year, the price is gonna go up. Every year, they keep raising the price on it. It started out at $45, and now it’s up to $50 something a month. Also, some of the people's speaking is very hard to understand, and at times, it's hard to get through to them. They were two different times, and it was the same contracting company that came out and did both the first and second one. The primary concern was that the oven wouldn't turn on and the self-cleaning cycle wouldn't work with the secondary.
My husband did the claim online, and it was very simple. We got an email that said who had been assigned and then we received a phone call. J&W was coordinating a date and time then we got a call 30 minutes before they showed up. They came in and were very efficient. They evaluated the issue and found the two items that needed to be replaced. It was an igniter and a switch, and they came back and replaced them. They did a great job. But I was kind of surprised that when they took the call from me, they said that they would have a contractor coming out to meet me and that they would contact me. The heating and air went fine. They referred it out to somebody. They also referred the oven out to another appliance place but I didn't hear from them and I don't know how many calls I made. Finally, on December 6th, some guy came out and evaluated the oven. He said, "I can't do this. I'm not certified for it. But I can order the parts for it and I can write it up."
I had waited after Christmas. I knew I wasn't going to get it fixed before Christmas. I called the people that I was referred to but they didn't call me back. All through January I didn't get any calls back. Finally, in February, I called and got the guy that came out in December. He said, "I am really sorry. I gave it back to American Home Shield to give you another person." When I had canceled the claim in January, I told American Home Shield to send me somebody other than the first contractor. American Home Shield takes a lot of pressure off our shoulders because we know that if something goes wrong in this new house, we're going to be covered for it, 9 times out of 10. We know it's a very quick and easy process. We hop online and just submit the claim through the form and pay the $100. The last time we did it, we did it in 10 seconds when we were on the way to the grocery store. Once we submit the claim, we can just call and get an update. They were able to get me somebody out here within a day or two and the gentleman came out within the time frame that they said he would come out. He was very professional and nice. I got the feeling that he was a very honest person just by virtue of what he was explaining to me. He explained the problem as he saw it at the moment and made some adjustments to our pool equipment. Then, the water in the spa was at the level it should be and I'm accustomed to having it at that. Everything seemed to be operating fine.
Unfortunately, the same situation reoccurred. So, I notified American Home Shield that the problem still wasn't resolved. Expert Pools called me yesterday and they have somebody coming out today to take another look at it. All in all, it's worth it to make sure that you pay extra money to cover everything that you have the warranty provider cover and the warranty certainly comes in handy. Our 2-10 warranty experience was horrible but American Home Shield was very fast. So far, I've had really great contractors come out through them, but under 2-10, I had some really strange and even unprofessional contractors come out in a prolonged repair process, and it drug the entire process out to ridiculous lengths. Submitting a claim with AHS was also pretty easy. You do the whole thing online, then everything else happens.

They are easy to file a claim with. But the last HVAC technician that we had for another claim, they were horrible to work with. They left a huge compartment open underneath the house. So we were sucking in the air from the house, but then it would blow out in the crawlspace. So our gas bill was astronomical. That was what the last claim for the ductwork was for because we thought we had a huge hole there. But it was the compartment door that was left wide open.

Majestic Heating came out because our furnace was out. It happened twice when it was as cold as possible outside. The first time they came out, they did a cleaning of some kind of a sensor and that failed again. The second time they came out, they replaced the sensor and it's been good ever since. It would be good for American Home Shield to have their contractors, when it is extremely cold out like it was, to prioritize service. We had to wait for the second call which was about a week. Fortunately, we have a gas-powered fireplace in our family room, which made the absence tolerable. It might also be a good idea for the company to create a directory of their contractors so that they know ahead of time that these are the people that they might be dealing with and they can do a little bit of checking that way. But their service was good. Once they got there, they fixed it.

He told the warranty company that it had been broken. Right now, American Home Shield can't find anybody to come here to put my timer on my pump. They got me paying another $100 to find somebody else to come out and do this, which is money wasted. This warranty company is not as good as it was when I first started. They should keep the service in the USA as I’d rather talk to an American person. If they could do that, we will be better.

With American Home Shield, I like the consistent price of having someone come in for a visit for the $75. It's not exorbitant at all if you gotta have something fixed and it's an important appliance. Most recently, ours was a furnace. It wasn't sustaining. The pilot light didn't continue to be on to warm the air. When it blew the air, it would shut off too quickly then blow cold air for a while. The repairman had to come out a couple times ‘cause the thing kept doing it. He replaced the thermostat first. Then there was some kind of a fan, and they replaced that as well. That seems to have taken care of the problem and it's an important thing to get the furnace fixed in the winter. We're definitely pleased with that.
We've recommended American Home Shield to my daughter-in-law. One of my daughters just purchased a home and the other one has purchased a home in the last year. We have talked it up with them that it's something they need to have when they own a home. The contractors are very helpful. They wanna make sure the job is done correctly. They've got their own warranty within their own company that if something continues to happen, they'll come back and try to make it right before we have to recall American Home Shield to make another repair ticket for them to come out again.

A tech with Central Ohio came out and totally redid everything because it was clogging and water was everywhere. He fixed it all. I had an issue with the air conditioner and it took about 60 days to get it fixed. It was something about someone telling AHS one thing that was expensive and then they got three more vendors, and then a vendor finally got it done. But the experience was horrible. I tried to call in and get someone on the phone, and the person I was talking to seemed like they spoke a different language and was not very willing to help, and kept transferring me and I was on hold. I've noticed with a lot of companies, they do chat services where you could just chat with a rep, and that seems to be okay. So AHS just needs to get someone as knowledgeable and have managers that are available to answer questions.

I've had American Home Shield since 2013, and I will never not have them. We had a leak in our water heater on the New Year's Eve and we were having a party that night. They had somebody come out that day. One time, a plumber came over to fix a leak in the sink, but he found some other things, and he just said, “Don't worry about calling that in. I'll just fix it while I'm here.”
Recently, the fan motor was broken on the unit and it was going to be a week before the contractor could get here. But it was really cold and they were out within two days. They were good. However, I ended up buying one instead of going through American Home Shield because I wouldn't get to pick which one I wanted. I wanted a Trane. They also don't cover the installation, just the product. Their product was going to be about 700 bucks so that’s going towards the purchase of the unit. I've used American Home Shield a dozen times. They do great work on the repairs, but when it comes to replacing stuff, they buy the the less expensive model. I've had my HVAC go out and I didn't have them replace it. I paid for it. The very first time I used AHS, I was not very happy at all with their response and the way that things were handled. There were roosters crowing in the background of the customer service people that I dealt with over the phone. It was very irritating and I had to hang up from the conversation. These people were working from home and I got absolutely nothing accomplished with that phone call. I waited for somebody to call me back with regards to the issue but nobody called me back. I had to call back and I got the same thing going on. It was terrible.
I had two sinks that were stopped up. They got in touch with me very quickly. The techs were able to diagnose the issue quickly and they cleared the drain. However, there were small leaks in both of the sinks after they left. They were very slow and the tech would have had to hang around for a long time to see the amount of drops that were dropping. But he came back and did the repair. This experience was a good one.

When you open my microwave, it continues to spin and run. The techs from Fleming came out three times. At first they said there was problem with the switch and they replaced the switch. It worked for a while, but the same problem occurred. They came out again and they replaced a different switch. The microwave worked for a while, then the issue happened again. They came back, and I don't know if they replaced all the switches but the microwave worked for a while. Now, it has an electrical burning smell, so I unplugged it and it's just sitting there for a week and a half. I've called AHS recently on the 2nd and I'm still waiting to hear from them. I've also texted Fleming. I'm trying to get someone to come and I've asked AHS if they would assign a different service group because Fleming is not responding.
I explained to them that I called AHS three times and each time, they said they called the provider or that they had emailed the provider for an urgent response. Then, the person I talked to today said they called Fleming and they said they were sending some kind of report back to AHS but I don't know what that pertains to. They also said they had to call three times before they could assign someone else. But I told them that they called and contacted them three times. I respect what they need to do, but I still don't have a repaired microwave. If a service person has come out multiple times for the same thing, then at some point, they should just say that they need to replace it or send a technician who is more skilled who can fix the problem and not fix the symptom.
Other than this claim, I've had other experiences with AHS and they've been very responsive. The people who they have contracted with sent emails or called that day or the next day. They came out after we scheduled a time and made repairs. I had a claim for my refrigerator and on July 4th, the individual came out and said it needed to be replaced. AHS said that they'd send someone else to confirm that and when the other guy came out, he said they could replace the compressor. He replaced the compressor, the control board. Then, the ice maker wasn't working and he replaced the ice maker. The refrigerator has been working fine since.
All in all, AHS is a great group. Their online process is easier than calling because when you call, oftentimes, you have to call back and you're never talking to the same person and I'm not sure how detailed their account notes are because you tell your story several times. But my recent experience with the microwave is a singular incident that I have had and I would recommend AHS to anyone.

I've had AHS for a home warranty for a while now and they keep sending out crappy repairmen. They've had to replace the same parts three times. One guy they sent out was supposed to fix some electrical outlets. Instead, he talked about racist crap, offended my mother with a bunch of racist comments. He looked at the outlets, said, “This is not my problem.” Fixed two and then left. So I had to call AHS again. They charged me another $75, sent somebody else out who finally did the job right.
Another incident I had was my dishwasher was broken. It took them a month to get it fixed and replaced. I had to constantly call them every week and harass them to get them to do their job. Another instance was my AC unit. Lightning struck it. They changed the compressor. I went to buy Freon. The company that they partnered with told me, “Oh, no. We're not going to give you the part. It's not your part.” I said, “Yes, it is. I paid for it.” Until I bought Freon from them, they wouldn't accept that I was buying Freon from somewhere else where it was a little bit cheaper. They blackmailed me into buying it from them. It's not even been two years since that repair, it blew out again. So instead of changing the whole unit, which is what their tech recommended, they just bought another compressor, and then charged me $1,075 for more Freon.
One time, I just paid $15,000 to have all my floors redone and to have a bathroom redone. The plumber they sent out said there were no leaks. But my floor was going bad. So I said, “If there's no leak, maybe there's previous damage when I bought the house." Two contractors that were here to fix the floor and redesign the bathroom found the leak in less than 10 minutes. AHS is not very good at what they do. They send out these third-party companies that are the cheapest companies that they can find. These guys, because they don't get a great rate or whatever the contract did, don't put any real work into it. As soon as my contract ends with AHS, I'm not renewing.

I've had a relatively decent experience and an absolutely horrible experience with American Home Shield. The good one was a maintenance call for a dryer, which they responded promptly, and the technician handled it. The other one was dealing with a problem with the oven and the microwave. The oven was staying on and the microwave door handle was broken. The repair company responded out and said that they'll get the part and it would be X amount of days, but they were a no show. I called back. “Yeah. We'll be out.” I called back again. “Yeah, we'll be out. We gotta get a part.” I made repeated calls to speak to a manager with American Home Shield, and it was very difficult.
Finally, after two months, the repair company came out. Instead of replacing the handle on the microwave, they picked a door from somewhere and put it on the microwave. It's not the same company so it looks mismatched up there. This is the microwave I put in an after I remodeled the kitchen, so it was one of those high-end GE microwaves. When you put that mismatch, it totally ruins the aesthetics. The oven issue still isn't resolved as well. There's a call on that now to be resolved. If I hadn't been so busy, I was going to cancel the service. That’s how disgusted I was with it.

I demanded my $100 back one time. I called up and put in a work order. I took off work and this guy came rolling up and acted like he was upset. My water bill was almost $300 because I got a leak. He confirmed I got a leak and when I asked where it was, he said, “It's out here somewhere.” Then he took off and left and American Home Shield charged me $100. They said they don't do irrigation. I told them, “Then why did you waste my time and not tell me that?”
Another time, we had a plumber come out. When he came in, he said, “We can't fix this. American Home Shield won’t cover it.” I asked why not and he said, "Your husband broke that whenever he was trying to put it back on. But I could come back after 3 o'clock, charge you $650 and fix it myself.” We called our own plumber and ended up paying $900 out of my pocket to get it fixed. American Home Shield has three different tiers and I have the highest tier that covers everything, like drywall repair and stuff like that. For my townhome, I took the lowest tier. And we did had a leak there. So they came and fixed the plumbing. But the drywall damage, they did not cover it. But I was surprised that even the highest tier policy, covers drywall. I could do that by myself, but not everybody has the liberty to do it or physically, some people cannot do it.
I had a leaking standing shower above my kitchen. So, the water came into the kitchen. The tech was prepared with what needed to be done. He told me, "Hey, I have to break a drywall," before he did it. The way the pipe was, he could not put the gasket on. So he needed somebody to help him from the bottom so he can lift the pipe up and he can push it in. But with both calls I made, I could have found a plumber to get the leak fixed. It would have probably cost me $100, which is what my deductible is through AHS. At least, in both experiences that I have so far with AHS, the people who are coming in are coming with good rapport.
Today's call was for a garage door keypad that had a battery leak. The car remote wasn't working either because it had a battery leak also. But my garage door is working. AHS should put a field to put a comment when I'm putting my request in online. If I just say, "Garage door is not working," they may think that the garage door opener is broken. But that wasn't the case. But because there is no field for me to put a comment there, the only way I could put this claim is by calling. So I called and then the lady understood my problem. And then the guy came and he fixed the outside stuff.

Last night, I tried to get it lit again but it wouldn't stay lit. So I had to shut down the entire water heater and turn it off so gas fumes would not go throughout the house.
I've spoken to Brandywine twice this morning already. Not only could they commit to even telling me that they would fit me in today, but they told me that the guy that was there the other day would reach out to me after his first stop to tell me how we proceed from here. I don't even know what that means. All I know is that my family is without hot water. I've got a wife and a 10-year-old daughter. I need hot water in the house and I can't rely on them. When I brought this up to the company, they said they do not cover secondary damages and denied the claim due to it not being normal wear and tear. I had an issue that originated back before the 8th of January in the washroom when the washing machine was leaking and it just filled up a lot of water in my washroom. I thought it was the machine itself. I called Home Shield and they had someone come out to check the appliance. He checked it out and then that was when we could see that the water was actually coming from the pipe when it was emptying. It was backing up and coming into the house. Home Shield then sent A & B Plumbing out.
A & B Plumbing had a late appointment to come out. It was almost 8:00 when they came. They said they were rotting out the connector in the washroom, which they said was successful. When they left, I started the machine and I was having other issues. I called the tech straight back and he did not answer. He shot me a text message telling me that he was on the phone. I texted him that I was beginning to have some issues in the bathroom because it was beginning to bubble in the toilet and it was beginning to come up in the bathtub. He texted me back and asked if I had a cleanout in my yard. I stepped out there and looked. He said to send him a picture, which I did. The tech then told me to screw off the cleanout. This would be something that he should have come back to screw off to see. However, my last text to him at that time was, "I don't think I have the strength to do it." There was no other response after that. That was a Saturday.
The next Saturday, I tried the machine again. When I did, it was not only bubbling and not only spilling over in the washroom. This time, the toilet was filling up and about to overflow. I tried to call the tech again but got no response. I call Home Shield and explained to them what had transpired between the communication between the two of us. They tried to contact him then they said it was the weekend so they were going to try and contact him on that Monday. I kept calling back and they said that he had closed the ticket saying that I did not have a cleanout in my yard and that the only way to do anything was to do it from the roof, which was not covered by a warranty. Home Shield was gonna send the ticket back to the etch and give him an opportunity to recant to fix this.
When I called back again, Home Shield said the tech was still stuck with saying I did not have a cleanout. I didn't want the original to come back out if they went to that extreme of not coming back to see what my issue was. Home Shield was going to move the claim up to a second opinion. K & S came out. I showed their tech the cleanout and he was trying to work with it. He established that a camera and something else he said would be needed to see what was causing it to not reach from the actual cleanout to the main cleanout, which was the city's line. He called Home Shield while he was there to explain to them that I did have the cleanout. He sent them pictures and he was stating that perhaps their feet need to have been held to the fire for putting me through all of that because the other tech didn't even come back out.
I'm still dealing with this and K & S did me a little favor. He took the cap off of the cleanout. But it's in my driveway between me and my neighbor's house. I tried not to do anything but just normal stuff, like taking a shower and flushing and not using the dishwasher. I've been having to go to the laundromat and spending about $30 trying to wash then I can come back and use my dryer. I've been dealing with this for over a month.
I had this problem before with my heating system. Someone came out and they gave me a little runaround. He would come out, do something, and get the unit blowing for a minute then it stops. From my perspective, it looks as if the tech wanted me to purchase a whole system and I was a little concerned with that. I paid him the service charge and I asked Home Shield not to send the tech back out. Home Shield accommodated me with recognizing that I was having an issue with the tech. They understood the pain and that I went through some cold days because of the tech filibustering.
Home sent me someone else who immediately told me, "I know what that is" and fixed it right away. The first guy told me that the system was so old but I told him that when I had an inspector in here, he didn't tell me that because I recently bought the house. I asked the second guy for his opinion on the system. He assured me that the system would probably outlast me. There is nothing wrong with it. That gave me a little bit more comfort.
Home Shield was a part of my closing when I bought this house in 2019 and I've kept it ever since. I love them. With my last renewal, I moved up to platinum and I'm thinking, "I'm not only paying $75 for our service call, but I'm paying 100."Where Home Shield has held up their end of the bargain is where you can replace a person and give me someone else then I can move on.

We're enjoying our service with American Home Shield. But sometimes we have to call them back a couple of times for appliances that their contractors repair. The maintenance person would have to come back out because the appliance got back to where it was. On the washing machine, they came this week. The other time we waited too long so we had to pay for the service. The recent claim we had was for the lights in the bathroom, kitchen, and downstairs. You had to turn one on for the other one to come on.
Our home warranty is beneficial but it's expensive. My monthly fee is high and I have to pay the $75 fee. Everything's going up right now so I'm trying to consider my home warranty. Other than that, their customer service is very polite and professional. I've had a couple of problems here lately. They get on it right away because I get a text right after I call. But when COVID was spiking, I had to call and tell them I hadn't heard from anybody.

When I called American Home Shield, they sent me a request for Action Plumbing. The Action plumber came to my house but didn't do anything. He just took a look and went out. He told me, “Your cleanout for the sewer is not existing.” I told him I have one outside in the backyard. American Home Shield sent me another contractor for a second opinion. The guy from Short’s Plumbing and Drain Cleaning came and checked. He said I have the cleanup outside but it’s too small. I told him about the other faucet that was dripping. He said, “I have to check with American Home Shield for me to fix it.”
The first day when I called for those things, I had three problems. The toilet was stopped up and the faucet was broken. I took care of the toilet. Since the cleanup is too small, my husband went and fixed it himself. But American Home Shield needs to fix two other things for me. I've been calling and calling since January 28. Today is February 25th, almost a month but nobody has come.
When I called American Home Shield, they told me the Short plumber had been cancelled and they were sending me the Action plumber. I told them I didn't want to deal with Action Plumber anymore because they never fix anything. They said they were gonna look for another plumber and send it to me but nobody has called me. I didn't receive any message from them and I'm still waiting. My husband told me to go ahead and cancel this contract with American Home Shield. But I told him, no. I've been with them for many years and I don't have any problems. I had a problem with my fridge and they sent me somebody who took care of it. I was so happy. But this last time, I'm really disappointed.

I thought they could have checked the power supply first, and that would have cut down on some problems. It seemed like it was an issue of finding what the problem was, but everything finally worked out okay.

American Home Shield has been horrible. It's been the worst amount of money I've ever spent. They don't call back. They don't follow up. Most of the people they send out here don't know what they're doing. After they do come out, then they try to say that something was installed wrong, even after it was an American Home Shield person that did it. Once I prove that to them and they acknowledge it, then they say I'm not covered and want me to pay for the difference.
Rentz has been the 1% that's been good of the 99% that's been bad. They did a great job. They came out and fixed one thing and has been incredible to the point that I'm not gonna renew American Home Shield, and I will probably start calling Rentz and pay them myself to come work on my stuff. I would never again tell anyone to use American Home Shield. I'm done with it.
I have an older heating and air system, so I thought, "Hey, it might be worth it. They'll come out and fix stuff." I have spent $75 after $75 on service calls, and I'm still having issues with it. Once I've done that, then American Home Shield says things aren't covered. A new homeowner would just be better off getting a good heating and air or a good plumber or a good contractor on their own to just handle it rather than going through American Home Shield. It will be far less headache.

My water bill was really high and then I noticed that my toilets were running in my master bath and in the upstairs bathroom and in the shower. I did a work order for the faucet and for the shower separately. When High Priority came out, I thought it was two different work orders because I had two different guys come the first day. The first guy came and then he said that I needed a pressure meter for my home. So he left because he didn't have the part. Then the second guy comes out unaware that the first guy came and I was like, “Oh, I already had a visit.” I got a call from Home Shield saying that because they had already changed the meter, they weren't going to cover the shower. So I ended up paying another $300 to High Priority to change the shower cartridge but it is still leaking. The tech said that he would call me back to reschedule for them to come back, but they haven't.
Having Home Shield is convenient because, without it, I would have to find reputable companies to work with. I also have to establish the time for them to come by versus with Home Shield, they call you within 48 hours, so that part is very convenient. But Home Shield's hold times were astronomical the whole time but recently, it has been better. Also, you don't really get a clearer understanding of what you're responsible for, like with this visit that I had here where I went from paying my service fee and then paying an extra $300.

American Home Shield has been good so far. We just pay the $100 deductible, and then they come and fix the problem. We had a power outage with our electrical in the condominium. It would have been at least $500 deductible out of our pocket on our condominium homeowners insurance policy. But we saved $400 by just using the American Home Shield. The electrician came and changed the wires and fixed the breaker box, under that $100 deductible. It's just that now, I have a bathtub. I've been a customer for a little over two years and the last month I've had to use your service for the first time and it's been horrible since. My most recent issue is I had a leak where water was coming out the wall on 02/04/2022. The rep did not treat my issue as an emergency after asking her several times. I was given the info for a plumbing company that I contacted because they hadn't call me. The guy said, "I'm driving. I'll call you back." Hours later around 6:30 he called back and said that he couldn't come out until Tuesday of next week. I couldn't wait that long (No water in my house). I called you back and was given a different plumbing company but the rep said that there is no emergency service and there was nothing that can be done until Monday. I spoke with Danco which scheduled me an appointment for Monday 02/07/2022 and they never showed up.
I called AHS again and got a rude representative that refuse to hang up the call or escalate my call so I can speak to a supervisor. I called back and my call was escalated. I spoke to Val who stated that she will waive the $100 service fee because I had to stay in a hotel room and I still had no service contractor scheduled to come out. I called back to see if I could get a different plumbing company out but was told by the rep that I need to give Danco time to come out and fix the problem (After they didn't show up).
We called Danco and they schedule me for the next day between 9-12. When they didn't show up the next day I called and got my call escalated to another person in the escalation dept. We got Danco on the line and they promised to come out by 5pm (which they did) and I spoke to the rep in the escalation dept regarding my reimbursement because AHS charged me for the service fee anyway. I was told that it would take 3-5 days to be refunded.
Today 02/16/2022 I have not been refunded. I called a rep and asked her to escalate my call today at 10:05am. She refused and said I will be refunded next time I need service at my home. I asked for her supervisor and she said, "I'll put a request for a call back." I advised her that she did not assist me and asked her to end the call so I can do the survey. She didn't end the call, put me on hold so I wouldn't have a chance to complete the survey. I've been on hold for 28 minutes and still holding because she refuse to release the call.
This is not how customers should be treated. I also was told that I had to pay out of pocket because my warranty didn't cover access to my pipes, looking at my contract it shows that access to the pipes are covered. As of today I'm still dealing with rude representatives, still don't have my 100 service fee refunded, still on hold for 30 minutes and I've been out of pocket for $250 when my contract should have covered the repairs. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER AT ALL.

We had problems with our washer and dryer not functioning properly. The washing machine had a leak. The dryer just shut down. It was no longer heating or running and that was what prompted the initial call with AHS. They sent me the contact information and the name of the contractor and then let me know that he should be in touch with me within 24 hours to schedule a time to come out and check the appliances.
The tech was outstanding. He showed up when he was supposed to. I like his knowledge, his honesty and openness on what was going on and what was going to be done. He informed me also that he had to submit the information to American Home Shield and let me know if they would, in turn, have to authorize the repair. So he made no promises. He just figured out what was going on. They had the part on order within a day. The only thing that I wished was if it could have been done a little bit quicker. But I would definitely recommend AHS.

I got the heating unit checked out last year, and then my sister and my parents had this company come out and check it twice a year for the heating and for the cooling. So, that's a good idea because I don't know anything about it. I've never had this kind of heating unit. So, I had their people come out to check the furnace, make sure that they change the filters and all that stuff that they do. Since it was their first time, I guess they did a pretty thorough check and they found some cracks in the -the heat exchange part. They showed it to me. They weren't totally perforated though because they weren't getting off carbon monoxide yet. But it's an older unit. I said, "Okay, well, What? Do we just call?" They said, "Yeah, it's covered."
I called AHS and they said, "Yeah, it's covered," and they determined that they needed to put in a totally new unit as opposed to just repairing the cracks. That was what happened. They sent out the company and supplied the unit and they installed it. American Home Shield is well worth the money. It's definitely something to consider. I'm very satisfied with it.

There was no heat coming into the house. When a guy came and checked it, he said the compressor. He was very nice and professional. He had to come back a week later to do the replacement because the compressor had to be ordered. The only thing was the guy told me American Home Shield was going to cover everything but they modify it. the home warranty said no and I had to pay $425. I was not expecting that. It was a lot of money but I paid it. The tech came and got the job done the following week. I haven't had any problem with the unit since then.
The only problem that I had was the breaker is tripping with the light downstairs and upstairs. The tech said that it was the AC compressor that was doing that. After that, it was still doing the same thing. I call about that and was told that it was an electrical problem and had nothing to do with the compressor. I had to call an electrician to get that taken care of. But I thought it was a compressor because the tech told me it was a compressor that was causing the breaker to trip. Once we replaced the compressor, I shouldn't have had any problems with that but I was still having the same problem. I called American Home Shield again and booked the electrician. They came over here and they said two of the circuit breaker thing were out and they replaced them. It's been a rough roller coaster. We've only been here a month and I had to do a few repairs here and there.
American Home Shield gets the stuff done. When it comes to when I call to get anything booked, they get it booked right away and they'll send somebody out. With the TV thing, I put an order in since last week. The breaker tripped a light upstairs in my son's room and then the TV broke. I had to go buy another TV. Someone was putting an order in for me to get the TV replaced but I haven't heard anything about that and it's just so frustrating. I called American Home Shield a couple of times already and I'm tired of it. So far, I pay American Home Shield a lot of money. When I moved into the house, the owner bought the insurance. I then upgraded it. I added an additional $175 or $200. I ended up having a problem with the thing. I had to pay two or three different times for someone to come out here to look at and fix stuff.

But this last time was a good experience. They sent somebody out promptly and he determined that the old refrigerator was no good and it couldn't be fixed. The parts arrived in about three weeks. Then they came out and replaced it. It was good. The guy was very knowledgeable. He wrapped his feet with booties. He was very thoughtful and considerate. Overall, it was nice.
American Home Shield's website was fairly straightforward. It was a little confusing but it was super nice. I was on the phone when I was requesting my claim and it was great that I was able to lump multiple claims under one deductible. That was done with the customer in mind, which was extraordinary. When I did the claim for the appliances, I would have done two or three more electronic submissions and it would have been $75 per issue. Instead, they were able to put them together and make $75 cover one group category. It was great.

I'm just going to get the stainless steel one instead of waiting for white because where it is positioned in my kitchen, nobody won't see it but me. But AHS gave me a choice and I was able to find a white one 26 miles away from my house. Everything that I've asked them to do so far, they've done.

Our heater wasn't working so I call American Home Shield. The wait was long but the rep was very good. They send a text about whoever was coming out. The techs did their job and were very professional. I'm a super picky guy and American Home Shield is the best out of all the home warranties.

We have a humidifier on our furnace that needed fixing and the furnace itself needed some repair work. The guy who came was good and did work for us in the past. It’s an older home so we've done a few repairs with American Home Shield. Having them gives me peace of mind. It’s insurance, which was why we got it.

The refrigerator and freezer weren't working properly. Someone came out a few times and thought he fixed the problem. The last time he was here was about two months ago, and he said that he had to order a part. It was going to be about three months but it came back earlier than anticipated so that was good. The guy was here with the part on Wednesday and thinks that he fixed the problem. We've been really pleased with American Shield.
