    I had a leaky pipe. I called the plumber. He came and fixed the pipe. He was really nice about everything. He wasn't disrespectful. He's very cordial and kept it moving. The only bad thing that happened is they put me on the list and then instead of coming out the day they said they were supposed to come out, they wound up rescheduling for the next day. Other than that, it worked out fine. The dude was extremely apologetic about it. American Home Shield's claim process was pretty simple. It was the first time I had to use them. Having the warranty is worth it. It saved me a whole lot of money.

    I called American Home Shield and it was good because they said that since the claim was necessary, they would get somebody out right away, and they did. It was in a very timely manner because it was winter. We had to run on just a space heater for that one night, but it was okay. The repair guy fixed the heater quickly and gave me advice not to buy the expensive filters because it impeded the air flow to the unit, which it is not doing now. It was a good experience.

    I had an issue with my heat pump and we had to keep doing recalls. So American Home Shield stayed on top of that and didn't charge me for the refrigerant that they used. They charged me initially but then for the several recalls we had after that, they didn't charge me additionally. Other than that, the techs were here when they said they were going to be here and they made the repairs. Thomas from May Heating and Air stayed on top of things and he pretty much got the unit repaired the way it should be repaired.

    Paying out of pocket expenses for these repairs can be very expensive, so it's much better to pay a $75 copay versus the entire cost. But American Home Shield should cover more of the cost of the refrigerant. I've checked other home warranty programs out there and they cover the entire cost of the refrigerant. But American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound and my unit takes seven pounds. So that's $70 which really doesn't do anything for me. For my last claim, I spent $884 for the refrigerant and $75 for the deductible. But other than having to pay that much for the refrigerant, American Home Shield is pretty good.

    We had a leak in the kitchen sink area and a plumber came out right away. We had to have a mitigation team come and dry the area out. They kept following up with that. The plumber had to replace a part in the dishwasher. It was a good experience and American Home Shield was very proficient. We had other claims replaced or processed. It was a microwave and we had a plumbing problem before that was a different area in the kitchen. American Home Shield had taken care of everything that we requested. It's handy to have in case you need something repaired. So far, it's been good. They're prompt, respectful, and professional.

    My washer made a horrible noise. The first person that came ordered parts for it. The parts were put in. But the washing machine continued with the same noise. A second call, I had another person come order other parts. And the machine made the same noise. The machine is not repairable, so the parts were sent back. I just talked to American Home Shield, and I ordered a new washing machine. So, I've been without a washer for more than three weeks. If it couldn’t have been repaired, that should have been addressed right away, and I could have had a washing machine by now.

    AHS uses an awful service repair company - Universal 1 Repair from Allentown. They were supposed to be the first ones to repair the washing machine. They asked me to do a video of the washing machine. And because of that video, they said, “We're just gonna order parts instead of coming to your house.” I said, “Okay. Fine.” I found out from AHS that they stated that the washing machine was abused, so AHS denied my claim. How can the company say that when they never came to the house? Would we take our washing machine and destroy it? No. Because we need it. We wouldn't destroy a washing machine on purpose.

    They told me one thing and told AHS another thing. A company like that should not be used because they have to come and look at the item before they can determine whether it was abused or not, or whether it can be fixed or not. Other than that company, AHS' service technicians are excellent. They're very courteous and they keep our areas very clean. They always try to help me. Even though it took too long, I understand they were trying to get the machine fixed for me.

    United Air Temp came out and made sure my furnace was functional because of its age and there weren't any issues. It's old but it's in good shape. It’s still running and producing heat. Whoever the contractor is, they get it scheduled that same day, and sometimes the service is also that same day or at least the next day. The company that came out recently did a good job.     Around this time last year, I had an issue with my heat. I paid the $75 to AHS and this gentleman repaired it. But in December, I had the same problem again. There's a barrier in communication with the people we talked to. I was under the assumption someone would come within 24 hours. But they told me it's a case-by-case situation and my situation was not considered an emergency. So, I was without heat for almost two weeks.

    AHS shouldn't advertise 24 hours if that's not going to be the case. The places they set me out with are not open 24 hours and I have to get an appointment with them. Plus, they don't always have someone who can come out. I called my claim in at night on Thursday and I had to wait to get in contact with somebody. When the gentleman called on a Friday afternoon, he had no spots available. When he was told to come on Monday, he could not. I had already taken Friday off thinking that somebody was going to come based on the conversation that I had with the young lady on Thursday. Other than that, everything was fine when the tech came out.

    When my washer wasn't working, AHS got somebody out there. The control board, we thought, was out ‘cause it wasn't draining properly and it wasn't working. As soon as the tech got the part, he got it done and did a good job too. It's working well right now. I like the plan that we have with AHS. It covers everything. We even paid extra to get the electronics covered. The price is good and everything they cover is good. The only problem we had is with the first issue we had with the washer. We had to wait two months to get it fixed. The person that was scheduled to fix it was from too far away. It took a lot longer to get the part. To find out there was a secondary part that had to be ordered to put that new part on, ‘cause it was our push-start button wasn't working. It was flattened in. But once they got it fixed, it worked. The guy was also friendly.

    I put in two claims with AHS. One was for a heating repair claim and the other was for a gas line repair. My gas line repair still hasn't been fixed yet and I don't know what is going on there. The heating thing was more of a placement of my thermostat. Before this year, we typically would keep our room door open and now that we have a little one, we close it so that noise doesn't wake her up in the other room. With the thermostat in our room, it was cutting off and leaving the other rooms cold, especially if they don't open their doors. I thought it was an issue with my upstairs unit. But it turned out that more of an issue with the placement of the single thermostat. They gave a couple of options to fix that. The simplest thing was to leave the door open. But we were looking at potentially adding another zone or moving the thermostat from our room into the hallway.

    The tech from Hospitality was really good. He was really easy to talk to and a lot better than the one I had. The one we had before wasn't really paying attention to what I was saying when I was asking about Freon. They just discarded it then ended up coming back and saying I needed Freon. I asked them if I needed Freon in the other unit. They said no and that the other one was fine. They came out again and said that I got to replace it. That was a big headache going through that with the other company.

    Hospitality's tech got to the solution really quickly and was honest about potential price changes if we took our time to move on the other thing. He also gave a ballpark of what we'd be looking at. I told them that we would like to have an official quote and I know it was not a part of the service request, but I have not seen that part come over yet. My only gripe is that they didn't follow through with that last piece.

    Prior to this gas hold thing, I've always recommended AHS for service for people that are new to a house or buying a used home. This whole gas line deal has really put me in a bad spot and I’ve even been contemplating cancelling American Home Shield because of that. The person they sent out for the ticket came out immediately, but they don't work on that type of issue. So, we've been fighting like crazy trying to figure out who's going to do this. The second person they sent out doesn't even work on gas lines at all, so now it's just left in limbo. I've been calling for days. The last time, they said they'd call me and give me some options. That was two days ago.

    Yesterday I was busy all day at work. I kinda was slammed and didn't get a chance to call them back. But I'm definitely gonna call them back today to see where this thing is at. Our gas stove is off right now, and we can't use it. We're buying lunch and dinner and breakfast to accommodate not having a stove. When I call today, this is gonna decide whether I’m still a customer or not. If it’s gonna take this long, I might just buy a new stove. I buy AHS' service so I don't have to deal with it.

    I had an electrical concern with my water heater. It kept tripping the power switch on the panel. I made a claim with AHS and the tech fixed it temporarily. But now, it's not working again and I haven't had time to call Home Shield to tell them that I need somebody to come out again. The heater stopped that next day after the tech came. But I am able to engage the switch again, and it'll work for a day and cut off again. It went off about three times in one day. So I don't know whether it is the water heater tripping it or there's an electrical problem. When he fixed it, it seemed to be working and he felt it was just a switch.

    I usually call AHS for my claims and for the most part, my experience with their reps had been great. But one time, I had one representative who had such a big accent, I had difficulty understanding that person. Mostly, they'd tell me, while I'm talking to the person, who the contractor would be. The last time when they sent out a plumber, they were going to send out one company, but I'd had such good service from another company that I asked them if could they send that company back and they did. Then I got an email and a text message about the contractor. I also got something from the contractor, saying what day they would come in. Besides that, the service from the techs had been excellent so far.

    It wasn't clear that I can have more than one item when submitting a claim. I had a claim and while the contractor was here to work on it, I asked a question about something else. They told me that I would have to make another phone call and put in another claim. Then, yesterday, I had a toilet that was running repaired and while the gentleman was here, we could hear the other toilet running. He said I can put up to six things on a claim and I didn't know that. I wished I had gone ahead and called in another claim while he was fixing the original issue. He's not allowed to go repair something else without me making another claim.

    I've also had claims for the air conditioning units that Myers Comfort Specialist came out for. One time, they had to replace a part but because my units were 15 years old, there's a newer part now. In order to put in that part, they had to modify something about the connection and I had to pay an additional charge. It was kind of upsetting that I didn't know.

    The same thing happened with a different air conditioning unit. They came out to repair it and it was leaking Freon, which costs 10 times what it used to cost. I would need like 100 pounds and it was going to cost me $1,000 because AHS would only pay for $10 a pound. They said that if they can't repair the issue, they would replace it and now, they're telling me that they can repair it but they're not going to pay what it's going to cost to repair it because the prices have changed. They should have put that in their contract when I was buying it. "Unless prices change, then we may charge you more." To initiate a claim is $125 and there always seems to be something. When they fixed my faucets and my toilet, though, it didn't cost me anything else.

    But when I went online to put in a claim for my leaking faucets, it told me that my account had expired. I renewed in July last year, which is good for a year, so I called them on the phone. The rep told me where to click and he gave me my account number and it had a thing to add an account. I would have thought that meant I want to buy another AHS but it was like some kind of way to add my account. It popped up my name and address and there was my contract and all the stuff. But it shouldn't be me having to do that. They ought to have access to do that.

    Other than that, I like the service and AHS does everything good. I like the fact that when I call, I immediately get emails or texts telling me what's going on. It says I would get a phone call from the contractor within 24 hours but it's usually within an hour or two. Then, they let me know when the contractor is on the way. They give a phone number to call.

    American Home Shield’s plan options were good and I went with the highest one because I wanted the HVAC and all that covered, too. The seal on the master bathroom’s shower was bad for the drain. So, it was leaking into my ceiling and doing water damage from the ceiling in my kitchen. The plumber came out, looked it over and replaced the sealant. The water damage wasn't bad so he said I didn't need to cut into my ceiling and have that replaced. Everything's working great now and I had no problems with the guy who was sent out. He came early. He was quick, very knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend AHS. It's way easier to have a warranty and only pay a $100 charge for plumbers than pay whatever it could have been.

    Every time I've had a problem, AHS has been there to fix it. But I had a problem with my hot water heater and nobody explained to me that anything was messed up. I had a water company come out to redo my water heater that went out and they wouldn't replace it. I had to do it on my own. I spent the 125 to have him come out to be told, “Something about it wasn’t up to code. Can’t do it.” And he left. I called the company up and I said, “Why didn't anybody tell me about this?” I had to put up over $500 out of my own pocket to get me a water heater. Other than that, AHS has been a good service.

    My pool maintenance guy said my pump was not working. So I put in a trouble ticket online and within a few hours, I was contacted by SunBright Pool. They arranged to come out and take a look at it. They replaced the pump and it's been fine ever since. It was really seamless. I was pretty impressed. The claims process was all online. American Home Shield made it real simple. I got a response back from them as soon as I punched in my claim, acknowledging my claim and telling me who the vendor was. Then I got a text from that vendor within an hour, letting me know that they had gotten the work order, and then they called shortly after and set up a time. I expected a hassle and there wasn't any. It was done pretty well. So I'm very pleased.

    The toilet wasn't flushing properly and the repair guy who came out fixed the issue. He was knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. He has to come back though because the same issue came up. By having American Home Shield, I don’t have those expensive fees come out of pocket. The hourly fees for a plumber and an electrician are expensive but I can pay this one deductible and then have it fixed and that works. I’m glad AHS is around. Everything’s working well and the service is fine. They’re on their game and do a good job.

    I called American Home Shield a couple of times. The first time, they were able to schedule someone right away and he came out and fixed the problem in just a short time. He was great. He was on top of it every step of the way. He showed up when he said he was going to be here and kind of gave me a heads up when he was on his way. He saw exactly what the issue was and took care of it. The second time I called AHS, it was taking a little longer, but it was with the refrigerator. I understand there was a long backlog with that. Overall, the service gives great peace of mind because we came into the house with all these items and we don't know what kind of wear and tear is on them. So, it's nice to know that we have a backup to get things taken care of. I like using the website. It's very easy and the communication with all the parties has been really great, so far.

    I'm pleased with the service. There was a problem with the HVAC unit and the claim process was smooth and easy. The technician was very timely and he explained the problem in a manner that was easy for me to understand. I was very pleased with that part. My only issue with American Home Shield is that for the number of years I've had the warranty product, the copay amount has increased dramatically.     American Home Shield replaced the garbage disposal. We paid 100 bucks for it plus the monthly payment. That was nice. I also liked the contractor. They were quick. However, we got American Home Shield for our air conditioning unit and we've called them probably four times to service it. It's an old unit and probably needs to be replaced. But American Home Shield is not going to replace it 'cause it's so expensive. That was something they made me aware of when I was doing this but I didn't understand how hard it was actually going to be to get it replaced.

    When I submit a claim, it has been efficient. Sometimes I'm lucky and it's a couple of days, sometimes it's not. The most recent time, it was our kitchen sink backed up. They were good. However, I don't like the fact that some of the vendors that American Home Shield use, I rate them and they get two stars and some of them are good, some are bad. They used to have it where I could actually decide to choose another vendor, but I don't see that they do that anymore online. And they had done that up to a year and a half ago.

    We have our pool heater covered under that warranty. We paid extra for it. And we had our pool heater go out and the guy who came out said, "Oh, that's just old and it's the water. You've got a saltwater pool. It's salt water, but salt water does corrode." But it has so little salt in it, it's not a factor. And they didn't cover it. It was 2,500 bucks for a new heater and they wouldn't cover any of it. They just had some guy come out and say, "No, it's your pool guy's fault." And the pool guy said, "No. We've been in business 25 years. We know what we're doing. Here's the deal. These guys are wrong. They're just trying to get out of paying." And they did get out of paying, which did not make me happy.

    Another problem I have is their fee keeps going up. I try to call them, it's like calling the CIA. I cannot get hold of anybody. It rings and rings, or I get on hold and I'm on hold for 45 minutes or an hour. There's no way of doing it online if I have an issue. So, they don't let me talk to them so they can get away with the pool heater, et cetera.

    Communication would definitely be a better thing. They do the job if it's a minor plumbing, or a minor electrical problem. But another problem I had was with an air conditioning unit. We have two. We live in Las Vegas so it's hot, and air conditioning usually breaks down in the middle of summer when they're busy. So, they finally came out and said they fixed it but they didn't. It kept not putting out coolness and it took forever. They wouldn't pay to replace what the air conditioner had originally, the old type of Freon, which was still available. It's R-22.

    And I know that there's a whole environmental problem with that old Freon and they're converting to the new Freon. It's even worse now. You can't get it at all. But they're also limiting the amount that the repair guys can even have to put into a system. So, they may not even have it available because the guy told me the other day that they give each company that repairs air conditioners one container per workman per month, which is not enough. And it's very expensive.

    This is my first service request that I had to initiate with American Home Shield and my experience was wonderful. When we first used the ice maker after my husband replaced the filter, there was this horrible grinding noise so he tinkered with it. He said he didn’t know what was going on and we needed to call a service request in. I loved that the lady called me immediately after I submitted the service request and got the email. We chatted and set up the appointment. I even requested for the contractor to call me before they arrived, because I have two vicious dogs so I had to make sure that they were put away.

    The guy called and when he came, he was right on time. He wanted to know what was going on. As we were talking and I was describing the issue, he got down on the floor and started tinkering with the filter. He was here less than 20 minutes. We had improperly installed the filter so he installed it. He did a little bit of cleaning and even tested it and made sure the water was running, and did something else to the icemaker. So, we’re back in business. I am highly satisfied.

    We had such a simple request and next time, if I need a service request from AHS, I will use the video option because they may have been able to fix it without even having to come into the home. I liked that option being offered to customers. It was very easy and I was able to maneuver through it. I was embarrassed and forgot we had the home warranty but when AHS nudged me with a helpful tip email, I remembered that we could go through them and get our refrigerator serviced. So like the option of being able to know that you have something that you can fall back on when you go through any type of home issues with your product. I like the service. A lot of times, I question whether or not I actually want to continue it. But now, definitely. It was worth the $100 investment because I'm not sure how we would have lived without our water and ice.

    I've used American Home Shield about four times now in the last couple of years. They’ve replaced a microwave and fixed an icebox twice. The people that worked on the icebox and the microwave were prompt. The service was good, but the microwave had to be replaced and instead of American Home Shield replacing with like kind, they said they couldn't guarantee what color. This is a new house and all my appliances are black stainless. I wasn't happy that they might bring a white one. It's a convection oven, too. It's expensive. I wasn't too happy they'd get one out of their warehouse units and send it up here. I told them no so they gave me the cash value which wasn't quite enough to replace it with. I had to kick in $100 or so. When American Home Shield is replacing appliances, they need to replace with like kind. But as far as the service goes, it's good. They have the contractors here in this town that fix Samsung and a lot of people do not do that.

    My experience with them is going pretty well. It started off shaky though. The first time I called, I needed someone to draw my septic tank and they didn't have someone to do that. So, I had to pay for that on my own and that was disappointing. Also, I needed some service for my heating. The first time the guy from A-US did that, it wasn't right and the problem persisted. Three days after he left, my heating shut down. I asked AHS to send someone else who was more experienced and they did. That other technician got it right and the problem was fixed.

    Other than the septic issue, everything has gone well. I opted to get a more comprehensive plan so that I would have the full range of coverage that I wanted for my home. I really wanted to not have to come out of pocket. But so far, it's okay. I have no problem getting through to AHS and that's what I like about them. This is why I gave them another chance when I called and the rep spoke with a very odd English accent which was almost a deterrent. But she got me where I needed to be and turned things around for me. She was persistent and understood me. She provided a resolution. So, I said, “You know what, it's worth it. It’s a good trade-off.”

That repair was six months of not working with the previous warranty company I had, and on the first visit, AHS fixed the problem so it was a much better experience.     Overall, the service of AHS has been good. But there have been a few things, especially with our AC unit, where we know that there's a group that AHS uses. But then when we called and asked for them by name, AHS sent us somebody else. Because a lot of times, when AHS sends somebody out, they're sending them out from two hours away. The people that we know that go through them are locals, like in 10 minutes. And we know that they have openings because we've talked to them directly before we called AHS. But the majority of the contractors are good. We haven't really had any issues with them. The tech that came for the furnace was good. The guy was an electrician too. He was able to look at some things that a normal person wouldn't have been able to look at.

    We had a dryer claim issue during a spike in COVID and the plumber would not come out. At the same time that he wanted to do a video call, we were having a bunch of stuff happening in our house. So, we had to reissue that claim to get a plumber out to fix the appliance in person, not over the phone, because that wasn't gonna work. But that got resolved. Our dishwasher broke so many times and American Home Shield was very positive and gave us a rebate amount. They were not repairing the dishwasher again. It was an old dishwasher, but they gave me x number of dollars towards the purchase of a new one through Lowe's. It took us about six months to get that dishwasher in because of COVID and not because of American Home Shield or Lowe's. Now, we have the dishwasher, the door is not staying shut and it's leaking. But that has nothing to do with American Home Shield. That's just my luck.

    American Home Shield is very beneficial. At one time in my life, I had a number of young people living in the house with us so, appliances would break on the regular because they would leave pencils or whatever in their pockets, and then that would break the washing machine or the dryer or things being used inappropriately by young people or roughly. Oftentimes, we were on the phone with American Home Shield getting them out to fix things in the house and they were very dependable.

    I love AHS. We've had it for years. It's like a security blanket. Everything works great, especially now that we submit claims on the computer, so it’s easy and I also get an instant reply. When my dryer went out, it was replaced. I was offered an upgrade if I wanted to pay a difference. But the one that was equal to the one I had was much better than the one I had. I’ve had small repairs, like my stove and my garage door opener. A few months ago when my ceiling collapsed because the water overflowed up in the attic from it, they replaced the air handler and paid a good part of it. Right now, I'm waiting on a part for my furnace.

    My fridge wasn't letting the water flow out at the filter and GE Appliances was out within a few days of putting on the claim to American Home Shield. The fridge was replaced and the whole process took a week. I had a problem with my cooling unit and the contractor came out and fixed that. I like the safety and security of knowing because a friend of mine’s AC unit broke and he had to pay $10,000 out of pocket out of the blue. Knowing not to have to worry about that is worth the price because when I do the math, even if that happens once in 10 years, the warranty pays for itself.     I had a leak in my garage, and we didn’t know if it was coming from the washing machine or from the bathroom. I called American Home Shield and the representatives speak English, but they don't speak very good English. I wish there were more American English speakers. But the contractor responded quickly. It was within a day and made the appointment within two days. I was very happy with them. The washing machine people and the bathroom people were responsive. The one thing that I did not like is the plumber replaced all the parts that were leaking, but there was a rusted part that went to the floor and I wished he would have replaced that too.

    I have four warranties with American Home Shield and they have been good and bad. Sometimes they'll approve one thing, and they'll deny another. It depends on who you talk to on a particular day, and you'll get your problem resolved. If not, you'll have to keep on calling and keep on spending money to get a right technician out to solve your problem. When you call American Home Shield, sometimes you're on hold for 30 minutes to an hour trying to get a representative on the phone to get a redo of the service call. I pay my money faithfully but sometimes I pay two, three times for one service call or even a service call that wasn't repaired the first time.

    In one of my properties, I had a claim for a range, a washer and a dishwasher. The guy who came was cool. I've dealt with him before. He told me straight up that there was nothing wrong with the range. He checked and fixed the washing machine. For the dishwasher, he said it ran for him but I haven't been to that property to double check. In the next property, the oven was broken. American Home Shield is gonna replace the oven but it was my fourth time calling to get that one repaired and I paid my $100 fee every time.

    I became friends with some of the vendors. They're fair. But for certain things like the HVAC services, I'll have to call numerous times with numerous contractors, and they'll give me a different scenario with a different amount. Then when they go back to American Home Shield, American Home Shield will deny the service or the request for what they're asking. American Home Shield could vet their vendors a little bit better. They could also have a little bit more transparency. I know they have their rules and regulations and guidelines but if they had a consultant to actually go over it, that would be good. When you initially sign up with the program, there could be someone to reach out and understand what you're signing up for 'cause sometimes the language is a little tricky.

    I would suggest others to get American Home Shield. They answer any time pretty much. Recently, the refrigerator started leaking water and the water came through the wall and into the flooring that was in the living room. When I called American Home Shield, they were going to dispatch Greenway, but I didn't know how to turn the water off and I was trying to see if they could get anybody any sooner. They said they would try to find someone. They did and found Champs Construction. They had a shorter day but left a wide gap of when they would come which was 10:00 to 5:00. I work nights, so I had been trying to get them to give me a closer scale of time.

    The repairman came the first time and had to get a part. The part he said he needed was the filter. When he came back to put the filter on, I had him to go ahead, check everything and turn the water back on. He did and tried the water dispenser. Even when you let the lever go, the water was still running. He noticed that and said he would go ahead and put in another order for that. He did that then came back a week or so later to put that in.

    When he left after he put that part on, my daughter and he had been talking about the ice maker. He told her the ice maker was going to work fine. She should have ice later that night. But when I got off work the next morning, she asked me to check. I checked and the lever was down, which meant the ice maker was on but it wasn't dropping any ice. I made another call to him then he questioned we were not having this problem before. I told him he got me mixed up with my daughter because I didn't talk to him. They were supposed to come back out yesterday to check the ice maker, but nobody called or said anything.

    I filed a warranty claim with American Home Shield and Shield Plus came in. Their plumber opened the covering and told us that the pump was not working because it was an old pump. He ended up replacing the sump pump. We upgraded to a different model than the one American Home Shield had under warranty and they charged us $160 for that one. One thing I would have liked American Home Shield to do was have more clarity on what was covered and what kind of options we had in terms of getting a new device. If, for example, my dishwasher goes bad, I would like to see what is the replacement value American Home Shield would pay me and what are the options if I wanted to get a new dishwasher installed.

    Our air conditioner went out and we had no air conditioning in the middle of July for three weeks. They said they were doing everything they could but it was miserable. I had to spend more money on buying a standalone unit just to keep my house somewhat comfortable. The contractor, Conklin Plumbing, was fine. They worked with my schedule and they always do what they can do when they're dealing with American Home Shield. The problem with American Home Shield is they do not allow contractors to keep anything in stock. They have to wait for American Home Shield to ship the part to them and then once they do, they can make an appointment to come out.

    Other than that, American Home Shield has always taken care of everything and it's very beneficial. They replaced the oven and the replacement was a very nice oven. American Home Shield does everything they can to replace what you have and if that's not available, they will go up into the price range to get you close to what you have.

    My garbage disposal was leaking, so I scheduled an appointment and I got a call back the same day that I scheduled the appointment. That was on a Friday, and the techs came out on Monday. They replaced my garbage disposal, which was surprising, but I'm not going to complain about that, and we were good to go. They did everything in one appointment. I also had an issue with my dishwasher where the techs came out and fixed it one time. Then I had the same issue within the first 90 days and the second time they came out, my dishwasher was replaced. That was for $75 and that was a small price to pay. Aside from that, submitting a claim with AHS is pretty simple, straightforward, and I've never had any issues with getting a call back or anybody assigned. All in all, you may not think you're going to need the warranty, but you definitely will.

    I call American Home Shield and and let them know I have something going on. The first time was hard because I had a stoppage and my basement was flooded. I didn't know that I had to put it as an emergency, which was my fault. American Home Shield said they called a bunch of places. But this was right around Thanksgiving time so it was gonna take a week, which was time I didn't have. They finally got somebody out. He was there within a couple thousand he was awesome.

    I had another stoppage and the tech cleared the main line. It was the same clog. The line between my main line and my other line backed up again. I called and that was 32 days out from when he came last time. Since it was past 30 days, I would have to pay the the deposit again. I didn't know about the 30-day thing. That should be a little clearer. In the end, they waived the fee.

    You could save a lot of time and money when you have a home warranty because they help out. Everybody told me that it was a waste of money. They’d give you the lowest bidders and you don't get to choose. But it's better than mostly forking over thousands of dollars. You only pay the $100 deductible and the monthly payment of 60 bucks a month. It's better to be safe than sorry.

    There was a leak under the sink and I had a clogged under sink. The plumber who came was great. He saw under the sink that a pipe wasn't tight enough. For the clog, he opened it from under the sink and cleaned it. However, I am about to switch to another provider. I'm not super happy with American Home Shield. They don't have a good selection of contractors. They just take whoever is going to give them the cheapest especially when it comes to the appliances. So far, I haven't had anyone that is with a degree to be a technician that's why I'm still having issues with those appliances. At one point, American Home Shield has to replace these appliances.

    My LG washer that's about a year and two months old has been leaking since December. I had three technicians out. They don't know where the leak's coming from. They don't know what's wrong with it. It’s still leaking. American Home Shield hadn’t called me at all. I'm not too happy about the claim process. I can use the washer. It's got a drip pan underneath it. It doesn't overflow underneath but there still should not be water under the washer. They also can't tell me where it's coming from.

    Sometimes when I call American Home Shield, they have people that I can't understand. They contract outside the States. A lot of times, I don't understand. If I call directly to the office, I still get the same problem. Also, the time for the contractors to come out could be improved. In addition, I had some problems with one of the plumbers and AHS sided with the plumber instead of me. So I was upset about that. Finally, they gave me my money back. That was three plumbers ago. So they don't want to send me the same one. They were supposed to give me my money back, but I already hired somebody else to do the repair work on it, only because they couldn't unclog it. One time, they sent me a man out there to do my heater and it wasn't working. But he wanted to charge me more because he said he saw some problems there. I thought they would just take advantage of me because of my age.

    I had a whole lot of things (water heater, a whole HVAC system, and some electrical stuff) fixed and replaced over the years with American Home Shield that would have cost me thousands and thousands of dollars. Initially, the quality of some of the contractors wasn't very good. But I liked the guy with Prime Plumbing. He was very professional. I showed him what the issues were and he diagnosed them pretty quickly and went to work.

    There was some stuff I wasn't that happy about, but that was during pandemic. I didn't like the technician they sent out for the dryer. They asked me what was wrong with my dryer and I told them. We even did a video but when the repairman got here, he told me what the problem was but said he didn't have the part. They made an appointment two weeks out and I gave them all the information and did the video but he still waited till he got here and saw it in person for him to say he got to order parts which took another two weeks. Then he got back with that one part, put it on and said it was something else too.

    The repairman was very friendly, quick, and extremely timely. I was impressed by that. He answered any questions that I had. He came out to look at my oven and my dishwasher. My oven was not cooking properly and the dishwasher would not cycle through when it came to releasing the detergent. He took the little door that was on there and said there was a spring that was broken. He took that off and said it was okay to use it like it is. For the oven, he said it is extremely old and he couldn't find parts for it anymore. It needs to be replaced and I've already spoken with American Home Shield about that.     My water heater wasn't heating water. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they've been good to me. They usually send me an email to tell me there's been a contractor assigned. I use the phone numbers in there, and it says, "You should hear from them within two days." I can then go online and get the contractor information, too.

    The quality of the contractors is good. I only had one problem. Our air conditioner went out last summer that I had to call them. Our furnace went out this past winter and I had to call them, which is always a bad thing. The contractors aren't allowed to get the parts and fix them. We had to wait a month or so on our air conditioner and also on our furnace to get them fixed. We had to go without a heater and air conditioning in the winter and the summer. In the case of our furnace, it was right around Thanksgiving. The parts were all backed up on ships. I understand that American Home Shield orders in bulk and get them cheaper. If it's something big, expect it to take a while. For our claim for the water heater, it was an upper element that was needed. The contractor was just allowed to get that small part. I'm satisfied on the whole. The home warranty was worth it to have and I'm glad I had it. They respond well.

    American Home Shield's responsiveness and coverage are a little bit better than our original provider. There was a leak that was occurring from an upstairs bathroom in the shower down into the room below. So, the ceiling started bubbling up. The techs were able to find that it wasn't a pipe or plumbing issue but an issue with the integrity of the shower. They did a good job.

    The contractors AHS sent out are way better and have way better reviews when you look through Yelp or Google. A lot of the companies that were being sent out by the previous warranty company were 1.5 stars and had really bad reviews on Yelp or Better Business Bureau. So, it's nice to see that. Having somebody out for 75 bucks to make sure that your house isn't falling apart is a really big benefit. We've had some pool piping replaced and different things where it would have cost us significantly more money. Our house is older as well and having the warranty for an older build is really good for us.

    We're having an issue with the thermostat for our furnace/AC system and the contractor, NW Sundance, has come out twice. They've confirmed that there's nothing wrong with the furnace and they were not able to identify any problem with the thermostat. But I'll be sitting in the TV room, which is 12 feet away from the thermostat, and it will read 68 degrees at the thermostat, which is the temperature that we like, but over in the TV room, it's registering about 73 on some days and 66 on other days. There's a wild fluctuation in a short distance, which makes me think that the thermostat is not being an accurate reflection of the temperature that we're experiencing.

    The refrigerator is not cooling properly and is not making ice. If we leave food in there, the food will go bad the next day. The first time we had a contractor that came out, it wasn't fixed. Then, AHS assigned Watkins on there and they have been in our house three times. When the tech first came in, he said he needed to order parts. He ordered the parts then came back out. And he went again and came back another time. But it's still not working and this has been going on since January. A refrigerator is something that is very critical to anybody's well-being at home but they just treated it as if it's something that is not really important.

    We also had an issue with our heater. I called AHS, paid the $100, and the techs came out. They said that it needed to be replaced and we asked how much would it be. They said I had to pay about $6,000 and I told them that I couldn't afford to pay that. I asked AHS if I could have somebody on my own who could fix it and if so, how much was it going to cost. Somebody said it would cost $900 for the equipment itself, then plus for labor, it would have cost me half of the amount the techs gave me. They said that if I wanted to do it on my own or get my own contractor, they could only reimburse me $375. That didn't sit well with me but I haven't addressed that with them yet because somebody came in and fixed the heater for us since it was really cold. That was in January and even at that, it took days for them.

    All in all, I'm not satisfied with AHS and I have another family member that told me AHS did the same thing to them. It seems as if all of the warranty companies have the same mindset right now that they cannot help us as a consumer when we are paying their monthly fee. And they come back and treat us as if we are fools.

    My experience has not been great. I placed two service calls, and neither one resolved the problem. My refrigerator door wasn't closing and the repairman said he adjusted the door, but it still doesn't close unless you push it shut. That's not how it's supposed to work. It's still dropping ice cubes randomly for no reason. I work at home, so I hear it dropped during the day when I haven't used it in three hours. That wasn't resolved. For our heating and air, the fan is still blowing. American Home Shield could provide better service people. I used to be a home builder and know how things are supposed to work. They're not working right. Also, American Home Shield keeps you on hold too long. The last time, it was 45 minutes. I tried doing it online and it said my contract didn't cover that. I called and they said it did. They had to change something and charge me more. I wasted $200 on service calls that did nothing for me. I'm gonna change providers as soon as I have time to find a new one.

    I'm disappointed with USA Plumbing who came out recently. I was pleased in the beginning when they did the garbage disposal. But the tech kept saying that the plug doesn't reach and the cord wasn't long enough but it reached because when he left, I had my nephew go into the sink and it plugged right up. Then, one of the pipes in the hot water heater was leaking and the heater was malfunctioning.

    He said that American Home Shield was not going to fix it but I think this guy didn't want to work because he already got his contract fee for doing the garbage disposal. I didn't bother pushing him. He said it's a maintenance issue and it's not. He sent that in to American Home Shield and I never got a chance to follow up with them because it's stressful. Sometimes they go by based on what the technician says but sometimes, technicians don't want to do the heavy work - like with this water heater. They should follow up with their customer and ask for a video or a picture of what the tech says they're writing up. They could have heard my video and seen my picture of the issue with the water heater. This is the poorest experience I've had with them. I have not had a problem in the past and when I had an issue one time, they sent another tech out who fixed the problem. I still recommend American Home Shield.

    We had a claim for our furnace that was not working and they sent out a technician who inspected it and said it was because of a certain reason. It didn't really make sense to us. Then, we had the actual gas company come out. They said, "This is exactly what's wrong with it. It's this one part and it needs to be replaced." I called AHS and I told them. They said, "Oh, but it's been too long. You only have seven days." I said, "The reason why it's more than seven days is I was waiting for the gas company to come out." They said, "Okay, that makes sense."

    They sent somebody else, finally, and the person said, "Okay, I will order that part." That took a while, but the part finally came. They installed it and now it works. They also reimbursed the first amount, the $75, which we're charged every time a technician comes out. What was good is that I got a call from AHS. There was one person who was working on the case. She kept me informed all the time and, that, I found to be very helpful and it worked. She kept calling and saying they ordered the part, they were still waiting for it. It took a long time, but it finally solved the problem.

    There was another situation with our clothes washer and it was leaking into our neighbor's backyard. They sent somebody and he said, "This is caused because it wasn't installed properly, to begin with. But if you want my company to do it, it's going to cost this amount of money." I called another plumber, who fixed it for half of that. We've had that a couple of times with them, that they will claim that it's not usual wear and tear, it's another reason. That happened with our dishwasher. It didn't close properly because the door fell down, and so the spring wasn't working. They said, "This is not normal wear and tear." I said, "What do you think? I pulled the door out? It just happened."

    The heat didn't turn on and I called American Home Shield that morning, and the techs were out within two and a half hours. They did a good job. It ended up being something fairly simple. The lighter switch would attempt to come on, but it wasn't lighting. But it’s working now. By having the home warranty, there was a decrease in cost associated with the repair because I paid just $100 for the call and probably for the techs to come out, it would’ve been 300 at a minimum. AHS put everything out there well since I've been dealing with them and their rates have gone up in the three years that I've had them, which would probably be my only complaint. I was only paying $40-something initially and now, I'm paying maybe $70-something. I've had to call them a few times. So, I'm not sure if that goes into the decision to raise the rates.

    I like American Home Shield very much. It has its ups and downs with the people that do the services, but American Home Shield has backed it up. We had a bad experience with the dishwasher wherein Stillhouse Heating and Air Conditioning picked up the service contract and marked it as done, but they never showed up. When I called in, American Home Shield got it rectified. They got ahold of the people that were fixing my washing machine and got it fixed. The repair man was amazing and super polite. He was in here, fixed the unit, and got out. He covered his shoes and wore his mask. I like him very much.

    I just call American Home Shield when I request for service. We've lost contact while trying to do the video examination, but our rep calls us back. If everybody expects everything to be perfect, then they're going to be really unhappy. We had American Home Shield several years back, then we went to a different company and we learned the difference very quickly. We went back to American Home Shield. It costs a bit more, but I get my stuff done and it works out. We're really happy with the service. I need to call tomorrow and cancel one of my contracts, though, because I'm closing on selling the house.

    Service with AHS has been good and I like them. I just wish they had better providers for the service technician. There have been a few things that haven't agreed with me. I had a request out for a dishwasher that had a timer that was busted. Somebody looked at it, ran through a few cycles and said that nothing was wrong with it. He had to come back another day to fix the washer but the timer never worked. So, I called AHS to get somebody back from that company to repair the timer. They were unable to contact the provider that day. I called the provider myself and said, “Hey, what's going on?” And they said, “Well, we can't do anything for you. You got to go back to American Home Shield.”

    I went back to AHS and they said that it was outside of the contract period. I said that because on February 8th, I called about this, it was within the contract period. I asked them a number of times to get somebody back out to look at it, and I insisted that I don’t be charged for anything that hasn’t been repaired. Last I spoke to them, I told them they should inform the repairman to bring a timer. And they said, “No, we have to have him diagnose it.” I said, “He misdiagnosed it the first time.” So right now, I’m waiting to have a technician come out next week to re-diagnose the problem with the timer.

    I also had AHS repair a washing machine with a different provider a few months ago. That went fine. It took a while for the parts to arrive but then the technician came in. With my help, we were able to get access to the washing machine so that we could replace the circuit monitor.

    American Home Shield is pretty good about getting people out here in a reasonable amount of time. When they couldn't find the parts for my exhaust fan in my kitchen and also the parts for replacement on the microwave, they replaced them. I couldn't ask for more than that. They gave me a fair price on the microwave. But I don't have one yet on the exhaust fan. The people that they sent out for my garage door opener were such nice and kind people. It was a father and son that worked together. They got the part and then came right back out. They were here on time. They knocked it out and it worked out really well.

    My ceiling fans aren't installed yet, but I expect the contractor to know what they're doing because they got up there twice to test it to make sure what was wrong with it. The young people that they've sent here were nice and polite. That means a lot when you're inviting somebody in your home to check things out. I'm very impressed with that part. So far, I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. It's been a very good investment for me.

    The only thing I don't like about them is the electronics warranty. I couldn't get ahold of those people. They want you to file the claim only online, so you can't talk to anybody and explain to them what's going on. You can't get past their robot. Then what happens is they don't want to send anybody out here to do what I need to on my computer. I can't get it hooked up and connected to the internet. My printer is not communicating with my computer. I just needed somebody to come out here and help me set that back up so that I can get some work done.     The process of submitting a claim is pretty simple. I go online and I hear back pretty quickly unless it's kind of going into the weekend, then I got to wait a while.     I used to sell real estate and I would promote American Home Shield for my clients. So, when we came here, I went ahead and got it again. In the beginning, I was extremely happy with it because none of my clients were ever disappointed. Recently, Lost Key came out and they were awesome. The communication was awesome. I had been very dissatisfied with American Home Shield though. The thing that bothers me most is the lack of communication and the feeling that nobody gives a damn.

    I decided to give it another try this year. I had the same issue with the same company that did the repair. They were like, “The parts, they're not here. Oh, the parts, they're not here.” There was no communication whatsoever. It took much longer than I would ever have anticipated to get the item fixed. I felt a lack of care, but this experience on American Home Shield’s part was even worse because I couldn't get anywhere. They were bringing me in circles. There was no one that could do anything until Trustpilot and Jan got involved. Jan was awesome. The claim process started on January the 16th and it did not culminate until yesterday.

    The latest experience I had with John from D and D wasn't that great but at least he's always been respectful. AHS assigned me to D and D again and I said, “Okay, we'll just give this another shot" but this experience was even worse. In this last incident, I was thinking of dropping AHS because I'm paying a monthly fee for them. I would like to keep the program, but I can't keep going on issues like this. My worst experience was with customer service on the phone. They don't listen. The customer service sucks.

    I just had a claim today and the tech replaced a garbage disposal. But the gentleman I called in to wrote trash compactor but my garbage disposal was the problem. When the people who were supposed to come realized the issue was the disposal, their people said, "Oh, sorry, we can't fix that. You'll have to have a plumber come." So AHS had to switch the company.     The freezer was melting down all the way and the techs fixed that. About a week later, my compressor went bad and they also fixed that. Aside from that, they fixed my dryer about three months ago. All the work went well and they were very professional. Aside from that, submitting a claim with AHS is pretty simple. But it's very irritating when I get someone on the phone that I really can't understand. It's like they're speaking a foreign language and they're doing the very best that they can. But that's bothersome to me.

    Also, when I first called someone for my air conditioner about two years ago, the gentleman that I spoke with said that they were going to deny my claim. I got uncomfortable with that and I talked to someone that referred me to American Home Shield. She said that they wouldn't deny my claim and to call back. When I did, a young lady answered the phone and we talked. She said they were denying my claim, but I had to buy some parts, and that was what the other guy should have told me. So they should make sure that everybody is telling their customers the exact same thing as that would be much more helpful. I also called in to cancel about less than a year ago and it was very kind of the lady to suggest that I shouldn't pay for two months. Then, if I really wanted to cancel, I could call them back before the warranty would expire. So, I thought about it and decided to go ahead and pay them.

    In essence, I would tell my friend or someone that I'd refer to Home Shield that if they could just save the money for repairs, but something always comes up at end of the month that you spend the extra $100. So, if you go ahead and get Home Shield, just pay that because you're obligated to pay it. I used to get contractors over here that didn't have a license. They would do the work, then they'd disappear. But I could always go back to Home Shield.

    When we were using our warranty for our dishwasher, we had problems where to get it serviced before we got a new one. That was troublesome because we had to do several work orders for it. It resulted in us getting a new dishwasher and everything was great. But when selecting a new one, it's what AHS has in inventory. We were hoping that we would get something that was close to what we have that's similar to our existing appliances in the kitchen. Being able to get a new appliance is great. Unfortunately, due to AHS' limitation on inventory, I recommend giving customers a longer window to select an appliance.

    Sometimes, calling in for a claim takes a little bit longer and I have trouble contacting because there aren't many people answering the phone. But other than that, it's been good. I called the contractor immediately because the garage door wouldn't close. So, they adjusted their schedule and was able to get out here the same day. The tech was very nice and gave us good advice. He said to call and ask for him if we ever needed help with anything. So, that was great. AHS could adjust the price though, because sometimes it's not even something that should cost $75. I like it when it's something more expensive. The $75 is good but for my garage door, the tech just came and took out something. He adjusted a bolt and that was it. I'm glad that I did it because I didn't know that that needed to be adjusted, but $75 was very expensive for that.

    AHS has really made sense based on the fact that we've had to do repairs before and pay out of pocket for the cost of labor. So far, things have been good with them. I've taken advantage of using the warranty for a repair once and the process was smooth. I initiated it online and within a couple of hours, I had someone assigned to me. I just had to contact them and it was smooth from there. I had to cancel the appointment because I had COVID and they were very understanding. They even called back a week later just to check in to see if I was ready yet.

    But when I had a potential issue with my heating system and I wasn't sure what the issue was, I wasn't sure if I could go through AHS to do a diagnostic test as opposed to the contractor coming out and fixing the issue. They should differentiate between diagnostics to figure out if something's wrong or actual like "We need an action. We need this repair explicitly."

    When I apply for services to American Home Shield, a phone call usually works sufficiently. I've been mostly satisfied with their customer service. I've been disgruntled with a few of the technicians but I've been satisfied with most of them. AHS has been gracious enough. If something was not up to my satisfaction, I got another tech. Not everything is gonna be perfect all the time. We're all human. Some people just had a bad day.

    As far as benefits to having the home warranty, I get service. I get things repaired within fair reason. When you consider the service call and the amount that you pay monthly, it's not always the least expensive but to have the peace of mind that it can be done without a whole lot of hassle and without having to try to find the best technician, I stick with having the home service.

    I've been very unhappy about the electricians they sent. They were not knowledgeable. I guess there was nothing that they did because even going outside away from the service, I've not found someone to solve the problem yet either. It has been more than five years. It's still something that's not fixed yet, and there's no real rhyme nor reason for why it can't be done. They sent two different techs. Finally, I was a little frustrated with them and said, “Forget it.” So, they returned the service fee. We let it go. I decided they’re not servicing it. I've got two remote control fans and it got to the place where one was not working at all. Then it came around to where you could turn on one and it would turn on the other one. It still has not been serviced.

    One technician came in. He said it doesn't have a pull chain. I said, “That doesn't make sense. If it's a remote control, why would it need a pull chain?” He said, “Well, I don't know what to do.” So, I let American Home Shield know and they sent another electrician, and he just couldn't service it. He said, “I don't know why.” I've been searching for an electrician for the last five years to figure out what's going on.

    AHS's claim process is better now than it used to be. There's difficulty sometimes in understanding the people who work there. Also, for the most part, the contractors they work with are a little subpar. It's hit or miss and you have to use who they use. Even if you have a reputable company, they won't work with American Home Shield anyway. They don't know who the local favorites are, but the people who are reputable around town don't want to be involved with them. AHS could maybe give incentives to some of the local contractors.

    Recently, I had a slow drain in a bathtub and a severed septic line in the yard. The tech addressed the slow drain but the septic line is not covered. A lot of people in this neighborhood have dropped them just because it's not financially beneficial any longer. I could have paid somebody else to fix this drain if I knew they weren't going to fix the problem in the yard too. It would have been a lot cheaper than my monthly fee and the co-pay.

    My garbage disposal wasn't working. There was a blockage and the tech got that cleared out so fast. He's such an expert. But my issue with AHS is that they deduct money from my account on whatever day they feel like it when I have my draft set up for the 15th of the month. They're violating the EFTA and the FDCPA. That's causing my account to be overdrawn sometimes and I get charged from the bank. I have asked them to go back in the notes and read them to me and they never have records of my call-ins in my notes. So they’re essentially not taking note of my calls.

    AHS needs to step it up with customer support and definitely they need to get my payment date right. The rep was like, “Well, no. We're absolutely not covering the bank fees.” And I was like, “Well, it's all your fault.” Also, not being able to speak with the supervisor then was terrible.

    When we first used American Home Shield, we would fill out a form online of what the issue is, they would assign it to a local contractor, and then the contractor would contact us. Initially, we had responses right away. For plumbing-related and for our furnace, they were great. But then when we tried the last two times with the furnace, they said they had so long to assign it to someone. We must have hit our pre-set limit that they have in their own heads. Then when they did assign it, the people didn't come and didn't come and didn't come. Then they were supposed to order a part, and it took them five days to even put the order in then wait another week, and this was on our furnace in the middle of winter last year.

    This last time for the furnace, when we called to find out why we hadn't heard from a contractor, they said they have three working days before they even assign it. We told them that it was already been a week and a half that we had no furnace and it was cold. Then they said they couldn't find anybody in the area. We hired someone on our own and we found out that the previous contractor put the wrong part in then we paid for it out of pocket. We're gonna cancel them and go with Liberty and see if they're okay. They seem to have a fairly good rating on the Better Business Bureau.

    A kitchen ceiling light burned out and a ceiling fan wasn't working. Electrical Service Professionals fixed the ceiling fan but unfortunately, as usual with Home Shield, there's always something not covered and the light wasn't covered. But the electricians came out very promptly. It was the fastest service I've ever seen from Home Shield and they did a good job. Other than with the coverage that Home Shield gives me, I'm happy.

    Also, if I ever have more than one problem, I have to call them to report it as opposed to online. Their online system will only allow one problem and if I had submitted it online, I would have had to have them come out twice and pay double. That's one thing Home Shield should improve. I've had so many problems -- slow service and problems over the year every year. When it's time to renew. I'm always on the verge of canceling, but I keep it more for security.

    Service with them has been pretty ideal. I'm very content with the home warranty. My first claim was for the heating unit downstairs. AHS was able to contact a company and have it rectified within days. Recently, I had to test one of the AC units, and it was not working properly.     I called American Home Shield by phone because I was on my way to work and had a flood in my garage. I told them the water heater was broken and this was Saturday morning. They said they couldn't get anybody there till Monday. I said that was unacceptable to have all weekend with no water. They told me to turn my water off. We had to wait a long time for them to get to certain things, but, eventually, they fixed them.

The heating people came out and it took 15 minutes tops. They found out that the people who I bought the house from had the wrong thermostat. I was running emergency heat the whole time.     The two times that I've used American Home Shield, the issues have been solved very quickly. I like the promptness of when I put in a claim, the fact that AHS will have somebody out the next day is really nice, and very transparent. The contractors are professional and know what they are doing. And they fix every problem I've had. The recent one was for my furnace, just to get a second opinion, if it was going out or not.     I thought the fan was just blowing and there was no heat going, but it was fine. To try to save money, which is probably the worst thing you can do because it costs you more, I used a Groupon thing. The guy came out and he was sleazy. He tried to upsell me and I didn’t trust him. I had an assurance it was gonna cost me more, which was when I called American Home Shield.

    I like that all the things are being covered with AHS. I have this and I have a rental property, so I have them both covered.     I rented a house a couple of years ago that had American Home Shield and I saw the benefits of it. For my first claim, the dishwasher wouldn't cycle and the contractor did a great job. They replaced the motor and then, they found another issue while they were there. They were able to replace whatever it was that they needed to order and they wrapped it up last Monday. The contractor was slammed and it took forever to get it done but that's the unfortunate world we live in right now. It wasn't anything crazy. We understood, going into it, that it was going to be a little bit. It takes a while to get parts because of supply chain issues and you got to be patient, which no one likes to hear.

    There was some kind of a relay that was defective that would not allow the AC unit to kick on. The techs showed it to me. It was a swollen and screwed-up and our unit would not cool at all for a couple of days. So then, I was trying to decide whether I'd wait till it started to really get hot because, down here in New Orleans, it's off and on. The weather's been crazy. But then, it was just too hot. So, I called and American Home Shield sent out Higginbottom. They've been here before. They're very good. They come in and get the job done and they're gone.

    Generally, it has gotten a lot easier to request service from AHS. The early years, it was very hard. You'd be online forever or waiting on the phone. But I use the internet now. I don't mind paying with my credit card ahead of time with the deductible. It saves me hassle. I really haven't had a problem with any of the technicians that they've sent out the last several years. For what it is, I'm very happy with it.

    When you have an issue in a home, especially with a garbage disposal down, you go through a number of prompts to get ahold of a live person at American Home Shield, and then by their contract, they have 24 to 48 hours to respond. There is no emergency type service. If the issue happens on a weekend, then you have to wait till Monday where they would contact one of their providers. But when we had a down garbage disposal, we could not cook food reasonably well because of that condition. We were refraining from throwing garbage into the trash can because it might cause some problems with our ecology.

    When we finally got a hold of the company who would do the work, American Shield said, “Well, the final decision may have to wait till Monday, because we have to evaluate their summary as to what the problem is.” My wife and I both said, “Ma'am, you don't understand. The garbage disposal just does not work.” I spoke to the technician before he came over here, and I gave him the diagnosis of the problem. He said, “It's no doubt it's a defective garbage disposal. Fortunately, I've got one in the truck that I can replace it very quickly.” So we communicated to Home Shield and then they said, “No, no, we have to follow our procedure.” We told them that if they don’t get back to us Monday, then we have to wait an additional two or three days. But she said, “Well, that's just the way it is.”

    Fortunately, the plumber was a reasonable guy and he said, “Look, I'm just gonna replace it outright because it needs to be replaced.” After he removed and disassembled it, he said, “Yep, it's a defective garbage disposal unit,” and then replaced it lickety-split. But my concern is that there’s no common sense with American Shield. They're following these strict rules that they have at the management level, and there's no deviation based on common sense and what's best for the customer. We're paying about $900 a year for services with American Shield, and twice, we've had problems. They've caused nothing but a headache. In addition to that, we pay $75 for service charge on both visits, one for the refrigerator and now this one for the garbage disposal.

    When my wife initially spoke to them about the garbage disposal, she pleaded with them that we have to have it fixed because the weekend was coming up, but the supervisor hung up on her and didn't even talk to her. My wife was very persistent and called back. Finally, someone from the mediation department called us, and all they said was, “We're sorry.” That was the whole conversation. It was outright terrible. It should be an easy process, especially when you're paying the kind of money we are for this type of service. So right now, we’re pondering if we want to pick it up again when our contract expires with American Shield or run the risk of having appliances break, but we control the technician coming here, and we have more power as to how quickly they can fix the problem.

    Not enough of the people at AHS speak English well enough to understand what I'm saying. And I'm educated and fairly articulate. I get tired of being told that they're to take care of my issue and it doesn't get taken care of. I complained and complained three months ago about something that was going on. I got charged for it and I wasn't supposed to be charged. Then, no matter how far I tried to run it up the ladder, it seemed like everybody wanted to be a damn pit bull and blocked me. I continued to ask to speak to their supervisor but they'd insist that they could handle it. But they couldn't. I've been promised that people would call me back and they never called me back. I was assured that they'd have a supervisor call me back, but they didn't call me back. Their service sucks.

    When I get what I want done done, everything's fine. But if you've got a problem with what took place and you want to reopen up a claim, it's a different story. I gave AHS good reviews when it was necessary, but one time, I didn't give them a good review. When I was trying to get up their ladder, they had a script and they wouldn't not deviate from it. You might as well be trying to ask the pope not to pray. It's also like somebody dropped a seed in their head and say, “Start every sentence off with I'm sorry.” Then, it's like pass the buck and pass the buck. It's a total disregard.

    The furnace had a leak and putting in the claim was not as bad as it had been previously. I had had another issue with some plumbing about four months earlier, and it was a whole different thing by the washing machine. It was not easy to get in touch with AHS but after we got in touch with the company that AHS contacted to come and do the work, they came out three times to try to fix the problem over a month and a half. They had even gone to a situation where they ordered a pump to the washing machine and it didn't fix the problem.

    I've had good service from the local people that AHS has sent out, except the time that I had before that with the washing machine. AHS didn't have people and their guys were totally overworked. They had two guys working that were doing service and it was for Sears. So, they had to run their business through them and it was bad. Every time you would call them, they'd have to start you over in that same queuing line to get service. So, if they came out on a Monday, and said that they would have to come back, it would still be two weeks before they would be able to get back out because it didn't matter when they got the part. It depended on them being scheduled for the service calls that they had.

    I'm not into the insurance and I wouldn't have even bought that because in the long run, it cost us $70 a month. And we've been paying since 2007 every month. We ended up having one appliance that we needed done and it cost about $2,000 and that was a bang for your buck, but still, it added up to $1,000 a year that you're paying for the service for that many years. It's been 10 or 15 years now. You're not really ahead. Still, American Home Shield does a good job. When you let them know what the problem is, they'll let you know specifically if it's going to cover it or not. So, that helps right there.     The whole track had come off of the top rack of my dishwasher so it was broken. I placed a request for service from American Home Shield and techs came out in two days. I've had American Home Shield for multiple homes. I've had them since 2015. We've had some big projects with them like our furnace was getting trouble and we had to change it. For the most part, the home warranty works well. It's just when you want to have an immediate or an urgent scenario, they cannot guarantee a quick turnaround always. That's the only negative part.

    When I call for service, there might be seven or eight days before somebody comes out. Then, the contractor comes out, fixes the issue, and it would go off the same day. The 24 hours to 48 hours starts over every time they call somebody new. I had a water heater claim and the contractor fixed it but it went out on the same day. I had to wait another whole weekend to another week for AHS to send somebody different. They sent Prism Plumbing Systems and Prism fixed it. Then, I had to wait another four days for the same company to come back and fix it again. I had to pay two additional $75 for the same problem because between the first and the second one had been 30 something days. Also, I went without hot water for two weeks straight but they told me that there was no way I can get an emergency work. They don’t consider that an emergency.

    I also had a claim when the toilet overflowed and it was on the weekend. I called them and told them it was an emergency and they didn't call me back. I had to call my own and paid $660. Then, I called them to get us some reimbursement and they told me they don't do reimbursement. I’ve had them for years but I’m looking for another place to go.

    The control panel on the oven needed to be replaced. I submitted the claim back in November and there was a breakdown in communication between American Home Shield and Coastal Appliance. It was at the time when supply chain was backed up and there was a delay on the part. Then the original order on the part never got to the contractor but American Home Shield marked it delivered. Coastal Appliance went above and beyond in working with American Home Shield to get the part reordered and to finally get it installed. It saved us a bunch of money. That was $1,000 control panel. The technician was fantastic. We were in communication over the course of many months trying to get the part delivered. It would have been so easy for him just to write it off. American Home Shield also replaced the water heater last year that again saved $500. It's more than paid for itself at this point. Everything that we've ever needed to get fixed got fixed.

    AHS has saved me three times in a row. Last winter, an icicle dropped down on my heat pump and it bent blades. A repairman was right out there. A few months ago, my gas range wouldn't stay on. The techs took three trips because the young man they first sent didn't know what he was doing. Eventually, they sent the boss out and they got that fixed. Last week, I suddenly had no electricity in my kitchen. The contractor called me back immediately and set an appointment for 8 o'clock the next morning. When the tech left, everything was fixed. He was fantastic.

    I've used AHS a couple of times since I bought the home and it's hard to understand what's covered or what's not covered. Another issue that I've had recently, is that I've got a certain type of part, and then they brought me something that doesn't really have the same specs. They got it cleared up, fixed and repaired, but it took me going back and forth for some time. Other than that, everything with AHS has been good. For the most part, the techs have been good. Sometimes they're very delayed. Like, the water person was not able to come out right away, so we've got leaking water and water damage that I had to deal with if I couldn't stop it.

    We were having a problem with the electrical. Every time we'd turn the electrical switch on, we hear a power surge or static. So, we gave Home Shield a call and they contacted Alltech. Then, the tech contacted us and he came out. He did a evaluation and he was very knowledgeable. He identified the issues that we had, that the control panel was outdated, and he told us that it was no longer in service. They had been coded out as this home was built in 1964. So he told us that the circuit box and a few other things needed to be replaced to get the control panel up the standards. And after that, he told us either they would contact us or Home Shield would contact us within the next four days. But no one contacted us for almost a week. I had my wife call Home Shield to find out what was going on and that was how we came to the point we're at right now.

    They should have a little bit more contact with the customer. I know they're a big company and they service a lot of people. But still, they should let the customer know what's going on, at least within 24 to 48 hours, not a week passed. Especially when you're dealing with something like an electrical system and a heating system. They should also give a detailed list of what is not covered by the warranty and have no hidden agendas. For instance, if I called in about my electrical, I need to know what part of that would be covered because we didn't get that information until that tech came out. He also told us what were some of the things that they would not cover. So I'm going by what the tech told me, not what American Home Shield should've told me.

    My last experience with AHS wasn't the greatest, but I was sent to the retention department, and they helped me out. I'm very impressed with the customer service, so far. There has been a couple of issues with customer service getting tossed, from one person to the next. But in the end, it took going to retention to get it taken care of. But every time I've had anything, so far, they have been taken care of by AHS. When I put a service request, AHS would send somebody out right away.

    When National Platinum Service came out for our appliance, they did a great job. But A and E through Sears came out the first time. The guy said he didn't know what was wrong. They were sending somebody else out. But nobody came. A week later, they sent him back out and he still couldn't fix it. He claimed it was some ground wire, but he replaced some other parts. He left and it was even worse sounding. I was really upset ‘cause it's a brand-new dryer. After the third time, it sounded even worse. I told AHS I did not want A & E back in the house because they kept making it worse, not better. They sent National Platinum Service company out the fourth time and the tech took care of it. The guy from A & E was here two to three hours each time and the National Platinum guy was here 30 minutes and he fixed it. He was also here one time and it's been working fine since.

    I had broken my wrist in February last year. I was due to have surgery on March 8th. Before that, I went online to have somebody come out because my dishwasher wasn't working. I got an email from a company that American Home Shield said they've paired me with this company. But no one called me and asked me, “Is this a good appointment for you?” They just emailed me and said the appointment was on the day of my surgery.

    I attempted to call them. But they did not answer the phone. They said that the voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message. No matter what form of communication I used, I could not communicate with them. Finally, I called American Home Shield and said, “I can't get these people to stop confirming an appointment for a day which I'm going to be on the operating table. I need you to help me. Please don't send these people to my house." The rep was very apologetic and I had it cancelled. But, that wasn’t American Home Shield’s fault. That was the company that they, unfortunately, paired me with.

    I looked the company up onlineand there were really bad reviews. Next time when I scheduled with AHS, I said, “Please don't pair me with this company.” I have Kenmore appliances, and I want somebody from Sears. And they did. I have not had any more problems. It's been Sears only people coming out and doing a good job, and respectful. I'm very pleased.

    Recently, two of my burners on my range don't work. The tech checked it out, and said he had to order them. It’s supposed to come to the house, and when I get them, he would come out and put them in. He was out here last week as well for my dishwasher. He said it couldn't be repaired. So, now I'm waiting for the new one to come. It hasn't come yet.

    Consumers have choices. Do yourself a favor and choose a competent reputable Home Warranty service instead of American Home Shield. The call center for this company is outsourced to a foreign country, and paying customers are unable to speak with any manager or supervisor if problems arise. You are promised a return call or email only to learn that neither is provided. I have been attempting to repair my Heat Pump system for almost 2 months without success. My system is covered under warranty, and a technician was dispatched quickly. A part was ordered and apparently arrived a week later. My assigned contractor never answered the phone (after numerous attempts) to complete the repair.

    After trying to have AHS intervene, they decided to assign a new contractor and reorder the part which seems to have been misplaced. I've been promised return phone calls and follow up emails from AHS for weeks, but only one has been received. That associate promised to resolve the situation and that call was followed up with an email asking if my situation had been resolved to my satisfaction. NO! IT HAS NOT! SOMEBODY HELP ME! I'm writing this call while on telephone hold waiting for a manager. So far I've been on hold for about 15 minutes. I have no doubt that I will be unable to speak with any human being. BEWARE: Paying your monthly fees is easy. Receiving the service for which you've paid will prove impossible.

    I negotiated American Home Shield as a home warranty when I bought my place. I have tried to use them 3 times by paying the $100, each time I did they didn't do anything. They did call a technician but they are usually the worst contractors in town who need the work. I had a leak behind my kitchen sink and the plumber said that they wanted me to tear up my floor so that he could take a picture of the leak. I assumed he would do it since I am not very handy but he said that he has to access the plumbing to do any work. Every time I had him come back out, he said I needed to pull out more so he can get a better picture to send to American Home Shield. He could feel the leak and we knew where it was coming from but again he wouldn't do anything until half of my wall/floors were ripped out so he could take a picture.

    In the end, I ended up calling another plumber and he knocked it out in an hour. This is just one of the three encounters. Another one, I called to have my ductwork fixed since some of my vents weren't blowing air. This again was covered by my policy, but whenever the guy came out he said that American Home Shield would not allow him to walk across my ceiling beams to get to the spot where he could hook it back up. Total waste of $100 bucks for the deductible, I ended up just watching a lot of Youtube videos and going to do it myself. So far, I have not got any value from the policy, you will be better off just finding local "qualified" technicians to come out and fix your issues and save yourself the headache.

    Dealing with American Home Shield can be really challenging because some of their service call reps are very difficult to understand, although they're very polite. It seems like they're reading from a script and they don't go off script. Also, I could never get to a supervisor if I'm having challenges. But when you deal with the repair department, they're all domestic. It's a much different user experience than a regular service.

    Also, it was a hassle to get them to replace the oven with the color and size that match because they don't look at the size. They're recommending the 30-inch oven and I'm recommending 26-inch stainless steel. It was a real hassle to get them to understand the oven is not gonna fit. But once I got to the right department, things went very smoothly.

    Overall, I've gotten my money's worth. They stand by their commitment that if they can't find a replacement, they would give me money or I can go buy one. I would recommend them but one has to be a savvy consumer and one has to have a certain level of patience -- step back and say, "They're getting thousands of calls a day, put yourself in their shoes."

    I had a leak. I was upset because I'm dealing with cancer. I was in the hospital for six weeks. After I had the first leak and the person came out, then I've been in the hospital ever since. When I called American Home Shield, they were giving me a whole lot of problems because they said, “You have 30 days.” I said, “Ma'am, I have cancer.” The attitude that I dealt with was very unsympathetic.

    The only thing I could do is pay to have them come out again. So I went to Twitter and Facebook, started complaining about American Home Shield. Soon as I did that, somebody got on the phone with me in the next few minutes and said they had booked an appointment in 48 hours. Someone came out and fixed the problem and I didn't have to pay any more money.     One of the toilets continually gets clogged. We also had another toilet where the tank would not refill very quickly. The plumber got out in a timely fashion and was professional. He had protective booties for shoes so he didn't mess up the floor. He solved both issues and did a good job of getting the work done quickly.     The service is great. The problem is the wait time. It may take a while to get an appointment. When my oven went out, it was right about three weeks before it got fixed. There were no appointments available from the servicer that they use. If they had more than one servicer, the client could choose and see who's available the soonest. But besides that, the claims have gone smooth. I pay the $100 fee and they take care of the rest. It could have cost me just under 400 to get my oven fixed, whereas I only had to pay $175 - the monthly fee to American Home Shield plus my deductible.

    I can never access requesting service through the website, because every time I try to put in what I think I chose as my password, it doesn't work. And when I forget password link, they say that they would send an email with the reset, but I never receive a reset even though I've checked spam and trash mail, and promotions. So, I always end up having to call. The only drawback is that I always get somebody that maybe English isn't their first language. But it has become easier to reach them by phone than it used to be. The first couple of times I had to use them, that when I went to call, I was told it was a long hold time and that I was better off going through the website, which if I couldn't log in to the website, that's not very helpful. But they have gotten better with answering and not having such long hold times.

    We had water all over our laundry room floor from our washer. And the contractor was very prompt. We were very impressed with their service. They had to order a part. It came in before the end of the week, even with all this supply chain issues stuff. They came that afternoon and fixed it. And it has been good to go. Get the full coverage, because the first time we did it, we only got the basic. When I realized that they weren’t able to help me with an issue because I didn't have coverage for that, then I increased my coverage to include appliances, the pool and the garage.

    A&R is an excellent appliance people. They did a wonderful job when they worked on my microwave. But the plumbing fixer that American Home Shield has are probably the worst people I've ever seen. I ended up buying a hot water heater myself out of my pocket because they lied and said they looked at it and fixed it. I had water running in my house and I ended up putting a new carpet in and a whole lot of other things. So, I got very angry. When AHS gave me my money for me hiring somebody, I paid over $1,000 to have it fixed, and they gave me $200 and said that they could have bought it for the same price. I don't want City Plumbing ever to come near my house again. We've told AHS never to send them anywhere near us again.

    I still have AHS and I probably will always keep them but they hire the worst people in the world and send them to people's houses. They shouldn't do that. That's wrong. In the last one, they sent out a young man. He looked at my microwave and said he couldn’t do it because it was a two-man job, and walked out. Then, AHS sent someone out. He came and he had somebody with him, but he could do it alone, he said. He did an excellent job. So, AHS has sent some good people out too.

    I called American Home Shield about the dishwasher because it was broken. I was also having problems with my ice maker and my microwave. I asked American Home Shield how much would all that be and they told me that I only had to pay one $75 and they could look at all of it. Submitting the claim wasn't hard but they had a hard time getting the parts. The tech put one part in the dishwasher but that same part broke again. So they had to order it again. But the contractor was real nice. I like them. The tech got my ice maker to work again after three times. But when I had anything to do with American Home Shield, it seems like it takes forever for people to come and look at what was wrong. Then it takes the contractor a long time to come back and fix it. Nothing ever happens quickly with American Home Shield.

    Our air conditioner was not cooling. They changed the compressor out. It seems to be working fine now. However, they have never really fixed an issue that I have with my dishwasher. The people that came out to check the dishwasher changed all the components on it. They kept going out. Finally, they said, "Have an electrician come out and check the circuit breaker." They thought it was something to do with the circuit breaker. The electrician came out to check the circuit breaker but there was absolutely no problem with it. It had electricity going all the way to the dishwasher. They said that part was fine.

    The dishwasher people came out again. It was back and forth, one was blaming the other. It got to the point where the last person I talked to at American Home Shield about the dishwasher was even getting snippy with me on the phone. I wasn't happy either and it wasn't a productive call. Somebody was supposed to call me and they never did. I called this person twice. They never called me back. It was just dropped.

    I got fed up with the whole experience because this was going on over a few months period, especially the last month. I kept asking them, "Are you going to get me a new dishwasher or what?" They kept hemming and hawing about it. I gave up and just bought one myself. It was a very upsetting experience. I put some money into buying a new one. I was spending all this money intermittently for them to come out. Over time, you have to pay again for them to come out. This was three months, but the problem was never resolved. I spent more money. I could have bought another dishwasher in between there. I am very dissatisfied with that.

    AAA Heating & Air Conditioning was one of the most outstanding companies that I've dealt with. Over the years, having a household for 45 plus years, you get people who try to cheat you sometimes. We even got one of those people who was called Four Seasons which advertised on radio or TV and when we had to get Home Shield out here two years ago, we ended up getting most of our money back from Four Seasons after one of AHS’ vendors came out and told the truth about what we needed. I had forgotten that I had this Home Shield and when we called them and got servicing, it was a fraction of the cost.

    Besides AAA coming out, we requested help at 2:30 in the afternoon and we had a phone call by 7 o’clock in the evening telling us they couldn’t get out that day but would be out first thing in the morning. We called in the middle of the day so we weren’t really expecting that night. It was very cold and the tech came out the following morning as promised. He talked my husband through everything he was doing. He didn’t mind that my husband was shadowing him, watching what he was doing.

    The quality of the two contractors that I’ve experienced with the heating and air conditioning was very good. These were very well-trained people and they cared about their work. American Home Shield is a good company. People should find out what their monthly cost is and evaluate that with what they could spend on the major items. If they find that it’s something that they can afford monthly, I would encourage to do it. My husband has talked a lot about the other service we got for heating and air conditioning. I don't know if it led anybody to get a description but we would do that without even being asked.

    Recently, I had a crazy experience with American Home Shield. I had some issue with the heat. They sent one guy who could not fix it. After like three months, the heat got down again but it was not within that range for the recall. They called one guy and he screwed up everything. It was a disaster. He came twice. He tried to fix as much. He did some damage somehow. Then somehow he gave up. They sent another person who fixed the heat. It took me a while to go back to the normal life because the weather was really cold. Usually, that problem should not take one day but it took almost more than one month back and forth and changing the technicians. So, it was a really bad experience but eventually my problem was fixed, which is good. Still, it is a big challenge to find the right person who can fix things in a professional way.

    When I call American Home Shield and submit a claim, they keep me on hold for a minute and right away, they say, “Okay. You're going to be assigned to so and so. We're going to contact them and they're going to be reaching out to you.” So that's the good thing. But then sometimes, like when my garbage disposal broke and it was pouring out every time I use the sink, I tell them that I can't wait. Then they assigned me to a plumber and they didn't call me. So I called them and the guy says that he can't get out to my place for two weeks. So, I had to call American Home Shield and be on the phone for I don't know how long to tell them that.

    Also, when I talk to one technician, they tell me one thing and then I get a phone call from someone else telling me a completely different thing. Or, I call AHS back and say, “Hey. I haven't heard anything. What's going on?” They said, “Oh, no. We can't refer that to that company. We gotta go with this company.” And I'm like, “No. They already did. They already gave me the work order.”

    For my garbage disposal, I called up another guy whom I know of and he works with AHS. He said, “I can be there tomorrow.” I said, “Okay. Well, let me call AHS back and let them know.” So I gave them his name and his number” They said, “Yeah. He's one of our guys.” All of a sudden, somebody comes knocking on my door, and he says, “I'm here to fix your garbage disposal.” I said, “Oh. Who are you?” He said some other brand, some company. And I said, “Well, are you going to fix the sink faucet also and the toilet that's leaking? Because they’re all on the same claim. He said, “Nope. I'm here to fix the garbage disposal. That's all I'm doing, lady.”

    I let that tech do the job only because I needed the disposal done right away. Then, when I called my plumber guy and told him, he said, “No problem. I'll just do the faucets and the toilets, and that's okay.” And then when I called American Home Shield to thank them for sending this guy, they don't know what I'm talking about. They didn't send him. But that tech said everything was taken care of. He gave me a receipt and it says they were referred by American Home Shield.

    Lastly, never once did anyone ever tell me that I could have more than one of the same kind of item for the $100 deductible. An electrician was the one who told us. If I have four outlets that are broken and they're going to fix them for me, I can put them all on one claim and pay only the $100 deductible.

    Other than that, I've had nothing but good experiences with AHS. I've been really happy with them. For my recent claim, I liked Zip Appliance. They were very respectful. They explained everything that was wrong with my refrigerator and what I needed done. The tech was trying to get the job done before Christmas. He went out of his way to tell me, “You know what? I'm really sorry. I've tried everything to try to get that part but's not in yet." I appreciated that because sometimes with other places, I'm waiting and waiting. I would have to keep calling them.

    American Home Shield is an evil necessity. I don't enjoy contacting them because it's always a challenge. They seem to always direct me to their website, but sometimes I need to speak with the individual because there may be something unique. And if I need to speak with a rep, it could take days to finally get through to someone. That's my biggest qualm with them. On the other hand, the contractor did a good job of communicating, letting me know when they were coming. I got a call shortly before they showed up. To their credit, I forgot they were coming and they would have got to my house before I was able to get back. So, they moved some things around and got to my house a little later, giving me time to get home. In one instance, they had to come back, but they took care of the issue the second time around. But do some research. See if there's someone better out there than AHS.

    I love American Home Shield. I just spoke with Mariah today, and I sent her the email with the voicemail message about the guy from Virtual Sears that I had a problem with. His name was Richard. He had me do a diagnostic on January 31st. I voice memo-ed it, and I told him the guy was coming on Friday the 4th. He didn’t want that. He wanted the guy to come on the 16th. I said, “No, I’ve been waiting already a couple of weeks.” The guy got here on the 4th, and he said there was no work order. Richard didn't put anything that was wrong with my washer. So, the guy wouldn't have the part. I had to wait until the 16th to get my washer fixed. So, it was almost six weeks because of Sears Virtual Tech.

    Then the guy finally called me and had me diagnose it and told me what to press on the washer. It said it was the thing that makes it wash at the bottom, and all he had to do was say that was what was wrong. He refused to do that. I have him on recording arguing with me. “No, I’ll just make it so that the guy can come out on the 16th.” I said, “He’s scheduled to come out Friday. Why do I need to wait till the 16th?” “Because he’s not gonna have the part.” I said, “If you tell him what’s wrong with it, he will.” He wouldn’t tell him what was wrong. He refused. As far as American Home Shield, I've dealt with them several times and there has never been an issue with them. I can just go online, and I can say what's wrong with my appliance. I'll pay the $75, and they’ll assign somebody to come out, which they've done twice. Those people were great.

    American Home Shield's service has improved. When I used to put in a claim, I couldn't understand the person that the claim was sent to because there was a language barrier. Recently, I had a leaking faucet and Anywhere Plumbing was prompt. They called me two days after I put in the claim, set up an appointment, and told me that they were available the same day. Then, they came out, troubleshoot the problem, and replaced the faucet that was unrepairable.

    AHS has been doing well. Our dishwasher and refrigerator were messed up. They assigned a person to work on those. The tech did a good job. We also had a previous claim where the oven shorted out and that went fine. AHS is a good deal. It's expensive if you don't have any claims because the payment each month is a little high. But if you have a claim or if you have to spend quite a bit to repair or replace something, it works out okay.
