When we flush the toilet upstairs, it will overflow downstairs and then it will back up in the bathtub. The repair guys came out and snaked it, which resolved the issue. No one is living in the home, it was just some things that backed up. Also, I don't know if it's because it's an older home and the things are older in the tub, we still have slow drainage. You can still see water in the faucet area just sitting there. But I like that American Home Shield tries to resolve the issues in your home. They're patient. They call back, ask for feedback and try to get whatever issue in your home resolve. And you can live comfortably knowing that they're there to support you. The rep was amazing. When she talked to me, you would think we were friends. She called me yesterday and asked how everything was going and updated me on what was going on. And there was a guy named Russell who was awesome.
My other issue was we were trying to get some ice made from my refrigerator. Everybody's throwing the ball to the plumber. The plumber says it's the appliance. The appliance says it's the plumber. So, it's a back-and-forth issue with them with that. American Home Shield has now sent another company out and the guy said he was gonna replace the whole icemaker. After the icemaker has been replaced, we'll figure out what's going on with that.

My garage stopped opening. So I reached out to American Home Shield and then the contractor came and replaced my motor. The claims process is really easy for the most part. But the wait time getting the service out is long. Every time I do have service, the contractor will come out and they'll say, “Okay, we'll come back in two, three weeks.” During those two or three weeks, I'll get a call saying, “Hey, we can't find the part. We have to completely replace it,” which makes it longer.
When my fridge stopped working, I had Sears come out and look at it. They said there was ice buildup and they should be able to fix it. When they came out, they also scheduled my next appointment. It was three weeks out. But a week and a half later, they messaged me and said, “Hey, we can't find the part. You have to go pick out a new fridge.” We were given an option to pick a new fridge. But it sucked because there was no Samsung. We’re a Samsung family. But there was only Whirlpool available, or we'd have to pay thousands of dollars and we didn't want to do that. So we were stuck with very limited amount of products we could pick. We picked one and that took an extra two and a half weeks to even get the new fridge in and installed. But overall, we like the price we pay per month to American Home Shield. We do get a lot in our services, which is a huge bonus.

I like American Home Shield. I've had them forever and everything has been good. They save me lots of money. I just call and tell them the issue. They have connections with different companies, and they send out the best one. They keep me from running around, trying to find somebody to do it for me. They had my air conditioning unit checked recently and the tech was fine.

My AC broke and AHS fixed it like they usually do. The techs solved it right then. Why you have the warranty is if something breaks, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to fix it.

Calling the number for repairs was easy. When Right Tech Heating and Air came out for the motor that was making noise, they were wonderful. However, I've been with AHS for a long time and the price seems to go up about $50 every year.

When I initially signed up with American Home Shield, I had a big problem with them. They told me that I would be able to have my furnace checked. That was one of the big reasons why I even signed on with them. But as soon as your package starts, you have to wait one month. I waited a month but when I called in to have that done, they said I couldn't have that done since it was out of the window. I was contemplating on canceling because I felt I was lied to in the beginning to even start off my policy with American Home Shield. I didn't like the way it was handled at all. It ended up having to do the whole process all over again with finding another company and waiting a month for it to be started. But the gentleman that came out recently was very professional. He checked to see if my AC unit was working properly and if my coils were clean. He gave me information about what to check for and keeping the unit outside cleaned off and free from the vines and tree branches.

With AHS, I like being able to get things fixed if you don't have the cash to do it. They make it all very simple and they're easy to work with. Great company to be with. They did really well in my recent claim. The tech got in touch with me right away, came out within a couple of days of speaking with him, and was able to get it fixed within an hour of him being here.

Something was wrong with the dryer. I put in a claim to American Home Shield via the internet. The website was pretty user-friendly. 7H came and they ordered the part in one day, but it took about two weeks to come in.

The two plumbers that AHS had last year were beyond terrible. AHS only has one plumber for this area, Mr. Plumber. They are beyond god-awful. They're the worst of the worst. Last year, it took me eight months to get some work done for plumbing. Mr. Plumber tried to charge me to remove my toilet so they could get into the mainline to clear the drain. They admitted it would take 15 minutes and they wanted to charge me $350. When I asked them why, they said, “That’s what we charge.” Click, they hung up on me.
I called AHS back. They said, “They shouldn’t charge you for anything. Don't pay them. We'll assign you a new contractor.” The person who said that didn't realize that AHS had nobody. After a couple of weeks, they told me, “Go get an outside contractor.” I tried twice, but AHS didn't like the price. On the second one, they said, “We're going to send over a plumbing guy to give us an overview and a comparison quote of the work that your outside contractor gave us.” Then they sent Mr. Plumber again.
After they had already approved to do all the work, they started to do the drain cleaning. When the plumper put a snake into the drain, he took it out of the drain when he first supposedly unclogged it and he dripped it all around the house. He also, not once, followed any of the COVID restrictions. He came here with no mask, no gloves, no booties. He came in with his dirty boots and he stained the carpet.
He then came back to do his comparison quote. He reported back to AHS that nothing was broken and that one of the faucets was covered by a manufacturer's warranty. I have no idea where he got that from, and that I abused my instant hot water dispenser, and therefore, it’s not covered. I said, “Why don’t I just cancel it?” I was going back and forth with them. I couldn’t believe these people. AHS found a company that only does drain cleaning and they came. Within five minutes, they cleared the drain. Didn’t remove the toilet, didn’t need access to anything.
Right now, they were reassigned for my water heater for the third time and they have yet to call me for the appointment. The HVAC guy noticed that there was corrosion at the top of the water heater. I called AHS. They couldn't find anybody to do the repair. They finally found a company called Stellar Heating. He called me up and I told him what the problem was. He said, “Is it leaking?” I said, “Nope.” He said, “If it's not leaking, they'll have me come there, they'll charge you, and they won't authorize me to make the repair. It’s got the be leaking.” I said, “I understand." I canceled the appointment.
Now, an electrician came. He fixed the switch and he was in the room and saw there was water underneath. I called AHS up. The next day, Mr. Plumber was assigned the service call. I called up and told the representative, “I don’t know why they did this. I’ll cancel this order. We’ll do a new order. Again, no Mr. Plumber.” They said okay. The next day, Mr. Plumber gets assigned the contract again.
Through these two assignments, Mr. Plumber has never called me, not once. The third time, canceled the service call and put in a new service call. Now, they didn’t tell me that the washroom faucet, which is leaking, is not covered because it’s covered by a warranty. I said to them, “No, it’s not.” I called up the company, sent them a picture, and they said that that’s not their faucet. I sent a copy of that to American Home Shield.
It’s not covered by a warranty unless it gives me a company that does say it's their faucet. I have no idea. But they told me that the faucet was cancelled with nobody’s name on it, and it said that it's covered by warranty. Yet, nobody has yet to be in the house since I made the service calls. They also told me the instant hot was taken off, not because of any means, it just doesn’t need service.
Also, regarding the dispatch of AHS, it's hard to get them to understand what's going on. They have this script and they work from this script but they just don't get it. They don't communicate it well to their contractor relations department and the dispatchers. The fact that they can only email and transmit, that's where the problem is. We have nowhere above the representative to talk to. They put me over to supervisors and managers, but it’s all the same. But their roof guy, their appliance guy, their HVAC guy, and this drain cleaning guy were really nice people. They were clean, respectful, and did everything they were supposed to do.

My dishwasher broke. They were able to fix it quickly. That was definitely a plus. However, I had my AC issue. My AC wasn’t working properly. One of the technicians came out from Express AC & Heating and gave me a quote to replace my evaporator for $3,000 and that's out of my price range when I'm paying a certain amount of money per month for American Home Shield. I had to get another second opinion from a family friend who does AC work. They said, “That was a bunch of baloney. They tried to sell you on something they shouldn't have.” They came out in August. I let it be for a few months because I had a baby around then. I didn’t really fool with it. Then, it started heating up again. I got a little fed up, and that was when I reached out to my family friend. Outlaw’s Heating came and checked on it as well.
Outlaw’s did a pretty solid job. Their customer service was good. They did not notice anything wrong with my AC. They had a leak detector, and they did the exact same thing the other technicians did. But they couldn’t find the issue. It baffled me a little bit. They had a different opinion from the other technician. They checked on everything, filled up my AC with some Freon and it’s working fine now.

Every time we've needed some kind of service, they've been really quick and professional about it. When I call, their turnaround time’s really fast. And they communicate with me on everything that's going on. And contractors they’ve sent, they've been good too. The most recent claim was for an air conditioner that wasn't cooling right. I took the offer on their website for a $75 AC tune-up and the tech said we had a leak and we were low on Freon. AHS sent a contractor to evaluate the AC and ended up replacing our unit. I was out of pocket $400 plus some portion that wasn't covered, plus two $5 copays. But I have no complaint about that.
But I was still having problems just as of yesterday. They replaced the unit on the 26th of April and I'm leaking Freon still. From what I heard from the contractor, they're gonna cover my outside unit and my Freon lines at no cost to me. So, it doesn't get much better than that.

So far, we've used AHS once for a garbage disposal that was stuck. They had to replace it and we just had to pay the deductible. The warranty is very helpful to me because I live in Hawaii and the house is in California.

I had a leak under the main master bathroom sink and then I had a leaking shower as well. The drain caused a leak in the ceiling in the dining area and then the shower was leaking when you turned it off. Between me and A & B, it took a couple of days for them to come out because of scheduling. Their availability and my availability had a little conflict with a day or two. But other than that, it was pretty much almost immediate. I've dealt with them before, so I call them for all my plumbing needs. Once I get someone good, that's the one I want to stick with. I'll get the little report going on so they're definitely excellent.
A & B had to order the part under the sink and we had to wait for the party to come in. Once the part came in, they came back out and put it in place. Then they fixed the caulking in the shower that was causing a leak in the ceiling. They did that at the same time. Then they had to order a part for the shower. Once that part came in, they came out and put it on. A & B is excellent. I swear by them.
Whenever I call and talk to American Home Shield, they say what I can have and what I can't have based on my policy. They make sure I'm totally aware of what's covered and not covered. So they are very informative. They also make sure I have a clear understanding of how to move forward. I'm very comfortable and happy with them.

The ball valve in the back of the commode was not working properly. I called American Home Shield and ended up speaking to someone on the phone, and the conversation was smooth. I had no issues with the representative who set up something for someone to come out and take a look at it. Someone came out and replaced the ball valve.

Yanping reported a lot of items relating faucet but the major issue is not fixed. She's saying the shower water is cold. They called many times, but it doesn't work. The guy who came out said it was not normal wear. American Home Shield didn't cover that. But it is normal wear. I cannot see them. I cannot visit them in the office. They have no office in St. Louis area that I cannot walk in and talk to. Everything has to rely on the phone.

I like AHS. I really recommend it to other people. The AC unit went out. We were waiting till the part came. The tech said that he gotta wait about a week for the part to come. Then it came. He called me, let me know what day he could come and put it in for me. When he checked the breaker box, one thing he said was that I gotta get an electrician to come out here and look because the breaker was melted. That was a good thing that he told me about that. He did a good job and he came on time. The day that he said he was coming, he came.

My experience was wonderful. I called and requested service for a sump pump that was broken. The techs came, did a replacement and now, everything is working fine. American Home Shield is very good.

American Home Shield in general works well. It seems to do what it says. The only problem we had was when we had our water heater and that was last year. That was not as smooth as it should have been. We had water heaters go out and had to replace two of them. But AHS could not get to us for a long amount of time, nothing reasonable, which to me, reasonable is within 48 hours. You can't go without hot water. That was big and traumatic, and very expensive. They supposed to reimburse us but they never did and we just dropped it because my mom had been in the hospital and I didn't have time, both physically and mentally, to deal with it.
American Home Shield did not work for us then, but they've had several services before between ice makers on the refrigerator, and those were handled great. Recently it was the fan motor. The communication was good. Once he was assigned to us, we heard from them in a very timely manner and everything was all taken care of within close to 36 to 48 hours. So, it was quickly handled. The tech didn't have the parts with him, but he was able to get it. He was wonderful. Very polite.

We've had a claim three or four times with American Home Shield and their contractors come when I call. I recently did a claim for the ice machine. The repairman was here for a couple of hours, and he fixed it. But that was the second time we had somebody for that same thing. The other one was a couple of months ago. The repairman said that he sealed it with something different and that it should last this time. Evidently, the first time, they didn't use that. It only lasted about six weeks.

American Home Shield is always pretty nice and they listen. They gave me someone for my washer recently. I looked up the company and Dun & Bradstreet banned them and they had one star. So I called American Home Shield and said that I didn't want them. They said, “Okay. Let's look for who else does this in your area.” It was actually A&E, which is really Sears. But they ended up sending another company I never heard of. They told me that this American Platinum had gotten much better reviews.
The tech diagnosed the problem and he said he’d be back. Then American Home Shield said, “For a Kenmore washer, you're really better off with Sears. So, we're now gonna send Sears to you.” They fixed it. American Home Shield really listened to me that I didn't want the other store guy and they found me someone who had a good rating. So that’s a good thing. The other warranty places would say, “That’s who available. Take it or leave it.” Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. But it would be very nice if they would send the person that you told them you like.

Last year before I renewed, I lost 100 bucks because the air conditioner people never came back out and fixed it. It was for a fan. I went out of town when the people called me back to come and install it. I called them back after I came back into town from vacation, and I've never been able to get ahold of them. No one on the American Home Shield side can seem to ever get ahold of them either whenever they call, so everything got dropped. Sometimes, the smaller companies that American Home Shield tends to go with are trying to get their businesses off the ground and do this and they don't tend to always have their ducks in a row.
I wish someone called me back about my air conditioning. Home Shield said they’ll follow up then they'll follow up with me, but whenever I call back, there's never any follow-up. I get the same response every time I go with this process and I'm struggling to figure out if I'm gonna stay with American Home Shield or not. I have some times where I feel I'm getting good service then there's other times where it's not very good at all.
Recently, we had a sewer gas smell, and the techs could have come a little sooner than putting it off, but they did a good job. The thing is though, we still have problems going on in the house. Unfortunately, they finished what they can do until they run another test. It's 350 bucks to run one more and I would love for it to be covered as part of Home Shield. ‘Cause I was led to believe that anything that went wrong with the home would be covered under Home Shield. They need to be upfront with what is and is not covered before people buy in and say, “Okay. Well, this is not covered, but if there is problems, then we'll cover the problems.” Like this test, for instance. There's no way of knowing what sewer gas and where it's leaking from unless I want to pay 350 bucks for the test.

I called American Home Shield like I normally do and told them that I had a leak underneath our house, and they referred me to a plumbing company. There was no access for the plumber to get to the leak. So, he had to come out the second time after there was access where he could get to it. I was amazed he was so good. I've never had anybody be so efficient in such a short time ever. I've been very satisfied with AHS since I retired in 2008.

I love American Home Shield. My wife and I had it years ago. I got it back the last year and I've already used it several times for plumbing, a dishwasher, a fan, and a couple of electrical issues. Ark-La-Flow Plumbing was great. The came out the next day, which I was not expecting, and took care of everything. They had me good to go within an hour.

I had a leak in the roof, and the repair people came out to fix it. I had to wait until it rained, and it started leaking again, so they came out again. I thought it was fixed. However, it's still leaking yet again and I have not called them a third time.

American Home Shield sent Main Line to fix a leak. They found wear and tear from the toilets for years. They categorize it as abuse. I told AHS, “Read the notes from the plumber.” They wouldn't read it in front of me. I got two plumbers. I first got a plumber because we had an issue with the toilet. They were gonna repair it. AHS sent another one and they said the same thing as the first one, but AHS still didn't want to pay the claim. I no longer work with them. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody, too.

The AC went out. It was blowing warm air. I booked a claim online. I got a text and email within minutes. The techs were great and quick. They were there the next day and fixed it. It's been great so far with AHS. Their price is high, but still, the ease of use is okay.

I have nothing to say positive about American Home Shield. It has not been a very good experience at all. I've been a Home Shield customer for many years in multiple residences, but what they sell was not equivalent to what we got. Then, after you've paid your money to have someone come to the house to tell you that you're covered, then they send you an email telling you that you're not covered. So, it's a cycle of negativity. I don't trust them at all. In fact, I think they should be investigated. I'm not happy with how they handle things. I'm a pretty intelligent guy who's very fair and understands right and wrong. The way these guys do business is completely fraudulent. It's fraudulence to offer you something to join, and because you're an existing customer, they gave you a 10% discount, which is equivalent to $120 a year, which I've never received.
When you call them and say, "I didn't receive it." They say, "Well, we never made you that offer." I think they're a bunch of thieves. When I asked to speak to an executive of the company, I don't understand how I don't have the opportunity. If I can send the White House, to my president, an email that will be responded to by someone that works directly for the President of the United States, how does a company in America have the ability to hide its executives from answering questions of its customer? I'm angered about it. I was literally stolen from by this company, and they get away with it free and clear. The simple fact that American Home Shield, a successful company that does business the way they do it and the people they do it with, someone needs to review their standards and policies or they're not gonna exist much longer.

The vendors that AHS has been sending out explain the issues and if it is really not being an issue, they explain what signs I should look for and things to maintain. The majority of them give a call when they're 30 minutes out and let me know that they're close. And they have positive attitudes. They're focused on resolving the issue.
I had a guy come out for the furnace. I thought it was an issue but he just changed out the filter. He also checked through the device to make sure that everything was okay and he explained my policy, if there is any real issue that comes up in the next 30 days and I call them back, it would be no service charge for them to come and check to make sure that everything is functioning.
Recently, we had a plumbing issue and the contractor AHS sent out worked very quickly. They were very professional and they explained the issue. Then, they talked to AHS and they were given the approval to proceed with the solution that they were recommending. They thought the repair was going to take two hours and it only took an hour for them to do it. Also, there was no mess. They cleaned up behind themselves.
The customer service has been very good as well. I had to do one thing outside of them and I had to get authorization. It was pretty quick. The vendor called them and they got everything squared away. When I sent them the receipts after making the payment, they sent the reimbursement to me within two weeks. They sent me the check in the mail.

The heat wouldn’t kick on. I called American Home Shield and I had to wait a little bit. I couldn't understand the waiting. But Tommy D came out and fixed the problem. Tommy D went through everything thoroughly and double-checked. The tech found the problem was that the breaker was kicking off because of the furnace breaker had a short in it. He had to replace whatever items he had to replace on that. So far, American Home Shield has been good. I wasn't happy that they raised the rate, but I called them and they said they would discount it, which they did. I'm satisfied with them.

Service with them has been okay. There was a leak out of the faucet in the bathroom. Someone fixed it but it only worked for a day and then it started leaking again. I called back to say, “Hey, you know, it's still leaking.” The contractor told me to call back if it started leaking and I could get a recall. American Home Shield told me that they couldn't get in contact with the contractor, and he hadn't filled out a diagnosis form. So, they were waiting for him to fill that form out so that he could come back out. I haven't heard anything back. I called again and they told me that they still couldn't get in contact with the contractor and that if I gave it a week and if I haven't heard anything, they would elevate the problem to see if I could get somebody else.
Other than that, I've had some previous repairs and everything went fine. AHS responds very quickly. They've been able to assign someone very quickly to diagnose the problem, find the solution, and get the problem solved. With the issue that I'm dealing with now, if there was a way that after a certain amount of attempts trying to contact the contractor, if that's not possible to be able to have someone else assigned to the issue while they figure out what's going on, that would be a lot easier.

Pop-A-Lock did a very good job of coming over and rekeying. They did what they had to do. I have an issue with American Home Shield because they tell you that something is covered, and then at the last minute, when they call in to the department that takes care of payment, then it's not. It happened with Pop-A-Lock, and then it happened again with Cactus Garage Door Openers. I want to file a formal complaint against American Home Shield.
American Home Shield said that they covered rekeying and remote when I called and with Pop-A-Lock are gonna rekey it. Then they said, "Oh, no, there's gonna be an extra charge for us to get into rekeying the unit." So, they charged me an extra $30 and then $3 per key, which I really did not appreciate because Home Shield said that all that was covered already.
When Cactus Garage Doors came over to issue a remote, I had called previously, again, because of what had happened with Pop-A-Lock. They said, "Don't worry, you are covered for the remote." I thought, "But I don't have a remote to give you, an old one or a broken one." I told them my issue. I just purchased a property and I didn't have a remote to give them, and they said, "Don't worry about it." Then when I scheduled with Cactus to come on over, they said, "You need to check with Home Shield to make sure that they're gonna cover the remote. I called Home Shield and I told them, "Look Cactus Garage Doors is telling me that I am not gonna be covered for the remote. Can you please confirm that?" They put me on hold for about four minutes.
Then I spoke to a supervisor and I explained my situation saying, "I just purchased a property, I don't have a remote to give you and I need a remote for that." They said, "No problem, you do not have to give a remote for us to issue you one. And it's not gonna be no cost. It's taken care of. It's covered." I was like, "Okay." Two people have told me already. Cactus came over and before they started, they said, "No, we just want to make it aware to you that American Home Shield is saying that they're gonna pay for the remote." I blew my top and I said, "Okay. This is not right. I called twice and I explained to them exactly what my situation is, that I don't have a remote to give them. All I want to know, is it covered or not. And they told me yes, twice, to confirm, and now you're telling me that it is not?"
I spoke to somebody that takes care of authorization at Home Shield, and they said, "No, it's not covered. I don't know why they told you that." So, then I told the lady, "You have such inefficient people that they don't know what is covered and what is not. And not only by one person, but by two persons. And they put me on hold to speak to a supervisor, and the supervisor doesn't know what is covered and what is not." I was very rude to the person in charge of authorization because I didn't know who to call to make sure then. The lady said, "Well, I don't know who you spoke to." My problem was not getting a name and a number, an ID badge, or somebody so that somebody could get reprimanded. My problem was I thought that it is covered and then it was not covered. That really upset me very much.

I got American Home Shield because I had a friend that had a really good experience with them all and recommended them. I thought it would be a good idea to get. I had renovated my home and have lots of new appliances. I see a home warranty as insurance and I know what insurance covers. I'd rather pay a known $73 a month than, “Hey, I need an air conditioner for $6,000.” I'd rather know I have that fee and that I have that protection.
When you have a claim, you can call American Home Shied or you can go on to the website and request service. It's very convenient and they are very prompt. But it's not within their control to be able to get a technician out here immediately. Based on my experience, it's the next day or within a couple of days. Techs came out to my house last summer and worked on the air conditioning. They were absolutely fantastic.
Also, I have one of those very large glass showers with little mosaic glass tile and it has a large showerhead and a handheld as well. There's a diverter piece that you turn to either have all the water come out on the handheld, no water coming out of the handheld, or you split it. That had not worked for quite some time and we weren't letting anybody come in here during COVID. We did a claim for that and techs came out and fixed that. I couldn't have asked for better guys because they had to try to find a part. This shower was built back in 2009 and if they couldn't find the part, that meant all that tile would have to come out. That was huge for me. Everything is absolutely fine now.
I also had a claim where the fellow that came for my washing machine couldn't fix it so American Home Shield bought a new one. It was handled so promptly, quickly, and efficiently. I was very impressed. That was the first time they had to replace an appliance for me and I liked the way that they did it. They sent me an email of choices that ranged from very basic models to some higher end ones on that were really upgrades. You could also get a gift card to Lowe's and that was the method I chose because I wanted to be able to buy at Lowe's locally. I try to get my friends to do the home warranty and tell them that they're crazy for not doing it.

American Home Shield sent me an email stating that I get a free AC check. I went ahead and took the opportunity and had them to schedule the appointment. They responded quickly. A guy came out, went up in the attic, and checked the unit. I had a couple of other questions about some stuff and he checked that out as well. Then he went outside and checked the outside unit. Everything was good. He asked if I had any more questions. I told him no because he had given me the answers for the questions that I asked.

My toilet was leaking. I submitted a claim online with AHS, paid the 100 bucks and waited for them to set me up with someone locally. The guy who came out was awesome. He made sure everything was good and he preset some stuff. I don't know what he did but it works perfectly and it's not leaking now. AHS has been very helpful for what I need.

I had an issue with my air conditioner and it took them four weeks to get it fixed. The people they used sucked. AHS should find better vendors. Other than that, the other claims I've had have gone fine. The process is easy and I had very good experiences with the techs.

The little thing that clips the dishwasher to close it was broken. I called American Home Shield. I spoke with someone and took a picture of a tag inside the dishwasher, and I sent it to them. A guy came. We looked at it and when he came back a week later, he brought the piece. He fixed it and now I have a dishwasher. He was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable and funny. I've been using AHS for years. They're awesome, so I'll continue to be a long-term customer.

The microwave would not heat up. The whole process was simple. The tech came in, hit a few buttons, said, “Yup, it’s not powering up.” Took the cover off. Said we needed a new switch, and put the new switch in. You better get American Home Shield because stuff break.

The service with American Home Shield was not very good at all. I contacted them to get someone to come and do a preventive maintenance, semiannual check on the air conditioning unit. The air was working before someone came out and the upstairs unit wasn't working after. That company told us to call them back within 30 days if we have any problems. I called them a couple of days later and they said I couldn’t do that and that I have to submit a new request through American Home Shield. So, they lied about it.
AHS said I would have to put a new request. So, I had to pay again and then, they had a different company come out who said there was a leak in the coil. That company said my portion would be $1,800 and I was thinking why AHS would not cover and pay them. I went on my own and got a quote and saved several $100 from someone replacing the coil without going through American Home Shield. I'm considering discontinuing their service because I'm paying for nothing.

I needed my condenser fan replaced. So I went online and submitted the repair ticket. Their website was relatively easy to use. The AC people are really good. I really enjoy them. But the contractor that they sent out for my sewage next door on my other property was horrible. They looked at it for two seconds, said that it was not up to code and that they couldn’t touch it, and then drove off. It was a pretty horrible process.

I let AHS know a few months ago that the icemaker on the refrigerator was not working and then they sent someone out. It worked for a little while, but it never would produce the whole container of ice. It was a couple of months later and I told them that the icemaker still wasn't working correctly. At that point, it had stopped producing ice totally again. The rep told me that I would have to pay for another service call before I'd have someone else come out. I paid another $75 to have the icemaker fixed, which didn't get really fixed in the first place. ADA repair came out and they said they needed to order a refrigerator door. That was about three weeks ago and it's still not repaired. I also had a claim for the dishwasher and they never came back to get that fixed either.

The claims process has been seamless. It's been very efficient, fast and always good to respond and everything's been resolved to my satisfaction professionally. When our basement unit heater no longer produced heat, the techs came out, diagnosed it, and told us they had to order a part. It took a little bit of time for the part to come in, but that was completely out of their control. They just had to wait to pick up the part. Once they got it, within 45 minutes, they came back out and had it done. They were excellent.

I recommend American Home Shield warranty to anybody. I've had them since the early 2000s. This is my fourth house I've owned and with every experience and with every house, they have been superb. The deductible is from 75 to100, which is still not bad. I've also liked the fact that they offer included things such as TVs and games and computers as well. When a heater went out and a tenant in one of my homes had a baby, they expedited her claim. Sears recently had to replace a fan in my freezer. They were very thorough and professional. The repairman came out the first time and he ordered a part that came to the house in a couple days. Then he came back out and fixed it.

The contractor came out and looked at three things. The tech fixed the dryer but he couldn't fix both the stove and the microwave because the parts weren't available for them. They were a little bit older units and there weren't any parts available. So those went into the replacement category. American Home Shield sent me an email that said the stove and microwave were gonna have to be replaced. It said, "Well, here's the value on your current unit," and then below was a little thing that said, "We'll help you replace it." If you click on that, it takes you to their in-store website. It asks you to filter out through brands. I had a Whirlpool, so I put Whirlpool and checked stainless steel and then it shows you what's available. I went and clicked on it to see if it was going to enter that in. When I didn't see anything, I didn't go further with that.
I went online to the price of the same unit. I got the model number off of the AHS website. In Best Buy, it was 827, which was approximately the same at Home Depot. Then I went to the Whirlpool site and their manufacturer suggested retail price was 1,039. So then I called American Home Shield and I asked the rep, "I don't understand. Was the price already deducted or is it going to be deducted at the time I choose it or what's gonna happen?" She told me, "No, that's what you pay." I told her it didn't make sense to me because I could buy the same exact one for $827 in Best Buy or Home Depot. But she said, "Well, that's our price."
I told the rep that American Home Shield was paying well above the manufacturer's suggested retail price. We went round and round with that. I was frustrated with that line of reasoning because I was going nowhere with her. It's either that's the company's policy and they're paying well in excess of retail or they're trying to make money on the deal, or this woman is confused and not trained right.

The refrigerator was making a loud buzzing noise. The day that the tech came out, it wasn't making the noise. He said there was nothing he could do if he didn't know what he was working on. He left. “If it comes back,” he said "turn your phone on and take a video of it" and he said "send it to me". I showed him where I thought the sound was coming from. He came out a couple of days later and said he thought it was the ice machine or the icemaker and he was going to replace the ice maker. It would take a couple of days for him to get the part. I said, “We're gonna be gone for about 10 days." I gave him a call when we got back and they came out and replaced the icemaker. It worked fine. I like the peace of mind of having AHS on larger repairs. I've also had them come out twice for the air conditioner and once for the pool pump.

My washing machine was leaking so I contacted a person that works on washing machines. When he came out, he said it was not the washing machine that had the problem. It was actually a plumbing issue and I had a stoppage. He was an ex-plumber and he noticed the problem right away. He said that more than likely my kitchen sink probably had a stoppage as well. I went ahead and put in another claim for a plumber. When he came out, he corrected the problem and I've been fine ever since.
I've had American Home Shield for over the life of my home loan, which is over 30 years. The service has been great so far. This warranty saves me a lot of money because I just have to pay the $75 that they charge to send out a repair person and their gimmick is they either fix it or they have to replace it. It works in my favor that I just continue paying monthly for the program. If I have any issues, I contact them.

I'm getting really good results from American Home Shield almost every time. We have four houses with them, and I've been really pleased overall. We've had air conditioner units go out that they've fixed. We've had plumbing and furnace issues that they've fixed. Greenway was great. I've had them come out on two of my properties. I've had great service from them both times. AHS has been a great service overall.

Overall, American Home Shield has been responsive. When we call, we get someone we could talk to about whatever the issue is. This last year, we've had a bunch of things go wrong but the service people that they had sent out have overall been good. With one of our air conditioning units, we did have to have several visits. They sent out a couple of companies that didn't work on the type AC unit that we have. So it took a while to get that resolved. Once we got it resolved, the service people took care of the problem and we're everything's going well now. But American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound of refrigerant and the cost of the new refrigerant is $55 a pound. So if you need five pounds of refrigerant, then you got five times $45 to pay.

The icemaker went out and we couldn't get the shelves put back into the refrigerator. I waited forever for the technician to come. It took him four days to get here. When the technician came, he kept trying and finally, he looked and touched the back. I told him it looked like the refrigerator swelled up. He said it did. I asked how did that happen and he said, "There's water been dripping in the back of this refrigerator and is protruding forward. This is unsalvageable."
However, American Home Shield said it's not wear and tear. I didn't go over there and pour water in the back of it and didn't unplug the icemaker but they're not going to repair it. They're supposed to replace it. They're supposed to be sending somebody else out. The other company sent me an email last week. I told them I wasn't available that day and we scheduled it for today. I haven't heard anything from the company. They were supposed to call me between 8:00 and 8:45 this morning but I ain't heard anything from them. I called the company and they said the company was closed today. These contractors are getting sorrier and sorrier. They're liars. I feel like they're working for American Home Shield and are not here to help me. They got the icemaker working, but now my water doesn't work. I told the lady I was thinking about switching my contract.

The claim process with AHS works fine. It's easy. I just go online to the website, put in my claim, pay the money, and a guy comes out a couple of days later. The most recent claim I had was when there was water in my air conditioner pan. It wasn't draining. Air Majesty came out and the tech was fast and real courteous. he told me how to prevent it from happening again. I'm happy. The only complaint I have with AHS is if you have to replace a broken product, they wouldn't replace it with the same quality item that broke. They would replace it with something inexpensive and cheap, which is not fair to me. I shouldn't get a new dishwasher that is just a $200 dishwasher when you're replacing a $900 dishwasher.

My neighbor got American Home Shield and once he told me the price, I was like, “No, that can’t be right.” I called and found out he was right so I jumped on board as well. So far, my experience has been great. I requested a preventative maintenance screening for the AC. I went through American Home Shield online and they did all the work. The site was simple and easy to use. I got an email saying that the work order was placed, the name of the company, and that I would hear from them shortly. Later on that day, they wound up calling me. The tech that came was professional and pleasant. He explained everything that he did. He put little things over his shoes so as not to dirty the house.

One of the toilet was running so I went online and did the claim. The contractor called me immediately the next morning and they were gonna have somebody come out that day. My schedule did not work, so they came out a day after that day. The plumber came on time and asked what the problem was. He listed everything and helped me with the issue. He let me know what he did and gave my son instructions. This is our second time using American Home Shield and it's been very easy. The service companies that have been sent have done a great job.

If I have a problem with any appliances, then I just call American Home Shield's number. Doing my latest claim was pretty smooth. I was given the name of the contractor and then the time and date of the technician. I got all the information I needed for it. The technician was very friendly. He went through the whole procedure, checked it out, and let me know what I needed to do. He needed to submit a report to American Home Shield before anything can be processed. I'm very satisfied with AHS. Everything's very smooth according to the schedule. There was a hiccup in terms of communication. Maybe I didn't get the due process. Other than that, everything is as expected. AHS is a professional company. Even the technician was very professional.

Sometimes it takes a little while to get something done and sometimes I can’t really understand what their reps on the phone are trying to tell me. But once I get away from the people that answer the phone to the people that get the order in, like when they replaced my washing machine, everything was great. They took care of it. The girl put in the order for me even though she said she couldn't and then she called me back and said they didn’t take it. But then they called me back and said they did and it all worked out great. I was very satisfied.
The only thing was it took a long time to get here. I called on Good Friday and the rep said somebody would call me within 24 hours. I told her it's a Good Friday and I didn't think anybody was gonna call me in 24 hours. She said if they don't call me, one of theirs would call them back. I knew I had to wait until Monday and I did. Then, they sent somebody out of Houston. She gave me the phone number and the people called me. They said they weren't coming to Texas City and that they've already informed AHS. AHS called me back and they sent somebody else. The guy came and everything worked out great. But it took a while. It ended up being over two weeks before I got my washing machine.

American Home Shield is good. Our oven was broken and they sent someone out to look at it. They had to reschedule once due to trouble with a vehicle but it's no big deal. They decided that it was too old to find parts for, and they were able to get a replacement. I like that no matter what it is, it's one set fee when it comes time to have someone come out.

The first company that came out to repair the microwave had to order parts for it. Then they came back and put the parts in. But a week later, the microwave stopped working again. When I called American Home Shield back, they sent out a different company, David's Appliances. They were great. They called me ahead of time to let me know when the tech would be here. The tech was very professional and very, very nice. He had to order a part, came back, and fixed it. He was very informative. He did a really good job. So far, it's working great.

Recently, I sent out a request and the plumbing company called me within a day and scheduled the appointment. They did it around my schedule and came out on time. I was putting in a new shower in my house and I had a clogged drain. I didn't know what it was and they went in there. It was dry, so they were able to get whatever was in there out before the new shower went in. They were very nice, friendly and knew what they were doing. They were in and out and it was draining pretty okay. I've been using that new shower now.
American Home Shield fixes everything. I do a few claims a year, and when I do them, they send techs out and they fix it. It's even easier now 'cause you can pay a co-pay upfront. That's very convenient. My claims have been reasonable and I've never been rejected for anything. They've replaced my pool motor twice in 14 years and fixed an old microwave. They also fixed my refrigerator when the compressor went out on it because it was a recall. They've done all kinds of different things to my home and I've never had any issues with them. Still, I'd advise people to read the fine print. If you have a pool, make sure to have the pool coverage. People should make sure that it fixes everything they want because there's peace of mind. Repairs can add up.

I love AHS. Back in '99, I had an AHS warranty through a house I owned before. Back then, they paid whoever the person the $50, wrote them a check or gave them cash. If they couldn't fix it, they replaced it. The first thing that went out was our entire air conditioning system in the house. They came out and it was in and done. The guys that did my washing machine were also great.
When we bought this house, the dishwasher was so old that it still has one of those dial things you turned on it. One guy came out and he was like, “I don't even think we can get parts for this.” A week and a half later, two other guys came out and they were terrific. I moved everything out of the way so they could get into whatever they needed to get into. But they have that thing in, in less than 45 minutes and we were done. Both teams that came out were wonderful and super polite.
The guys that did the dishwasher were totally professional and sweet as they could be. Unfortunately, when they got to my house, it was pouring. But they were like, “No, ma'am. That's all right.” Didn't bring any kind of trash or garbage. Unloaded it out of the box on the truck, and then brought it in and it was perfect. AHS is amazing. I tell all my friends that if they don't have AHS, they need to get it. It is worth every penny.

Overall, we're happy with them. We were having an issue with the kitchen sink. We were gonna get somebody out there. One of their people they had sent from a company called Tiger Plumbing had come at a time when we told him no one would be home and didn't advise anyone that he was on his way. Then later that afternoon, when he intended to come back was our boo-boo, where my stepson was a dodo bird and didn't answer the damn door. So we had to reschedule.
The first gentleman from American Home Shield that had called me was great and we reset things and it was all good to go. About two hours later, at 4:00 PM, another woman called from American Home Shield. We got into it, as she was telling me, I'm going to have to pay 75 for the work when I didn't receive any work. I understand if they constantly come and nobody's home, I can understand if they get pissed off and charge us. But the first one was not on us, the second one was.
When we had them come back out, we were there and we got the work done. She just was very insistent on me trying to pay for work that wasn't done. I told her that it was absolutely not going to happen and I needed to talk to her manager. She said, "We're very busy right now. I'll have someone call you in about 24 hours." They called me in less than 24 hours. The lady was very nice and said, "Since you've been a customer for, at least eight years now, we'll go ahead and waive that and move forward.” I'm very favorable to American Home Shield as they encompass a lot of the issues in our home. We've had air conditioner issues and plumbing issues and they handled just about everything. They're also very explicit about their paperwork as to what they cover and what they will not, which I appreciate.

I had American Home Shield when I was in Maryland, so I just stayed with it. It's good to have everything under one umbrella and I like that it's easy. I just put the request in then the company notifies me. American Home Shield provides the number to the company, so that I can call them as well, if I don't hear anything in a timely manner, but that hasn't been the case so far. Recently, my air conditioning wasn't cooling. I hadn’t turned it on for the season, so I put a call in to American Home Shield. Blizzard Air came out in a day and added some kind of device to it to make sure that it drains correctly for the air conditioning.

I called American Home Shield for a claim and within a week, everything was done. They replaced the refrigerator. When my stove was acting up, they sent somebody out and took some pictures of it. That was three weeks ago and I haven't heard anything from them. I've reached out to them three or four times. The issue with the stove was a lot of gas came out. It had to be shut off until we call a repairman in.

I don't like American Home Shield. They suck. They did not pay for what they are supposed to pay. One of the air conditioning units died and they should have replaced it. When I called, I get to somebody overseas trying to answer questions that doesn't help me. When I bought the policy, it is not in the list of things that they are not covering. But the reps do not even give you an explanation. I asked them to get ahold of their supervisor, but they will not let me do it. I did not want to die in heat. My wife was not feeling well, so I had to call a technician to come and fix it. I paid 3,500 and American Home Shield paid 1,000. I paid big bucks every month for them.
In the past, they were fine that's why I stayed with them. They used to replace things when they go wrong. Now, they don't want to do it. This is ridiculous and unfair. I am moving into another company. I’d want everybody to migrate out of American Home Shield and find another company because they don't belong here. American Home Shield treats their customers like **.

I had an air conditioner issue and a refrigerator issue that I filed a claim for. I reported it online and AHS assigned somebody that took care of it within a few days. The techs were polite, did their job, and answered questions. They replaced the air conditioner and I had to pay out-of-pocket for some of it.

The techs came out in reference to a low-pressure issue that I had. They did a good job. The plumber seemed to be very knowledgeable. I've been with American Home Shield for a while. I'm pleased with them. Anything I had an issue with, they were quick to respond. I also like the accessibility online to submit the claim and get a contractor to come out.

My most recent claim to American Home Shield was for a built-in microwave that was going bad. Everything to me was quite reasonable. They ordered the replacement parts. Something came on for a short time, and a definitive fix was not possible. So, AHS offered a replacement. I'm still in the process of trying to get the replacement because it's back-ordered. Overall, AHS has been relatively pretty accessible. The staff has always been quite professional.

We didn't have any heat or cooling. All we had was the auxiliary heat, which quadruples your heat bill. Our heat pump was leaking refrigerant. The first contractor that came out said that the unit was old and should be replaced. But American Home Shield refused that and they wanted a second opinion. So they called another company and it took them about a week for them to get somebody to come out to give a second opinion. We were paying through the nose for the cost of it. The second company said it should be replaced, but that it could be repaired temporarily, but they didn't know how long it would stay like that. So American Home Shield agreed to go ahead and have the repairs done. It was done really promptly then. The guy that repaired it found there was something else wrong and he alerted Home Shield about it and they said, "Go ahead, repair it." So he did repair that too. So far, the unit is working good.
Both companies that came out were very courteous and prompt. They knew their stuff. So that was awesome. The technicians were wonderful and very quick. As far as American Home Shield, they were really prompt in getting the first company scheduled. But the second opinion took almost a week longer so I wasn't too happy about that.

I was having an issue with my sink and my toilet. Once I called Home Shield, the contractor came out and fixed it, and that made me happy. The guys had a good attitude. They got the job done. Everything's good. Home Shield is great to have, especially being a single mom like me, and you don't have to come out of pocket with so much money. You just pay the service fee and get the job done. I had a claim for my garbage disposal. My grandson managed to fix my garbage disposal before a tech got there. I don't like that American Home Shield collects the money upfront and if the problem is resolved before the service, I'm out of luck. I just went ahead and had the tech guy come in an he educated me on the proper usage of garbage disposal and how to keep it smelling fresh. He even gave me a little tool to use if it ever gets jammed up again. It was really cool. The education, his professionalism, and everything that he gave me was worth the $100 I ended up putting out. I had American Home Shield through the second house that I bought and I was pleased with them. So far, everything's been cool. I also had my heater service with American and the guy that came was really good.

Their service is great. There's a $100 deductible when you call and the techs are usually out within a day or two. My refrigerator broke and they fixed it. They had to come back because they had to order parts.

We just call American Home Shield and let them know that we've got a problem with whatever. And they find a person and send them to us. It has always worked out great. It has always been so simple a problem that they came and thought, told us what was wrong and we fixed it. We had two outlets that weren't working. There was one in each bathroom and they didn't have a ground fault. It was just a ground fault interrupter that was hidden in the garage. We didn't see it so we didn't know. It's simple things we have always called for.
When we first moved in three years ago, it was 119 degrees on the day we moved in and the compressor on the air conditioner went out. That was a Sunday night, and AHS called around and they found an air conditioner repair guy who said, “Oh. I don't have the part but my dad does. I'll go get it.” That was all on a Sunday night, he fixed it and everything was fine. I've always bragged about this service.

I went online to their website, logged into my account, and submitted a claim and asked for service for our water heater. The pipe on the outside kept leaking. Draingo contacted us to talk to us and get everything confirmed. It was a good experience. They came out on time and took a look at everything. American Home Shield does what I need to do. Also, the contractor was good and helpful. They got to me fast. However, they were supposed to get back to me on something and they never had. The tech said he thought that I might be up for an upgrade, and he would find out. But he never called me back. He fixed the problem, but he didn’t follow through. Other than that, they were on time, professional and got the job done. There are always a lot of costs. When I’ve had something serious, I’ve always had to spend quite a bit of money because things aren’t covered. But AHS is good to work with, and they get the job done. They get somebody out here.

I contacted American Home Shield and after 3 days they finally gave me authorization to hire a contractor to come out as they did not provide one. Once contractor sent them bid it took a week of me calling before they would approve replacing the water heater. My contractor was AMAZING and I kept my part which was paying him, submitting invoice and then waiting. A week after submitting invoice to American home shield I called to find out status as I didn't even get an email that my invoice was received.
I was then told I would have to wait 21 days for them to pay me back on an order they approved. So I did all that was asked of them and wrote an $1800 check to fix water heater and now I am told I need to wait at least a month to get reimbursed. Right now I would NOT recommend this warranty company. Also, my garage door opener went out and was told that garage door openers are not covered and I just read another client's review that AHS replaced their garage door opener. WOW. Will not recommend this company to anyone.

There was a water leak on the dishwasher and it was fixed. I just went to the American Home Shield website to submit the claim. It’s always easy but sometimes, you have to package what you are asking for versus one of the main items that they always have. When there was a problem with the water spout in my bathroom, there was nothing for me to select to pinpoint because all they had was leaking pipes or this, so I had to write in and talk to the representative when they called me.
I’m 80% satisfied with the quality of service with all that I've had done over the number of years. The first year paid for itself with a couple of issues that I had. So overall, AHS has been beneficial and saved me money in the long run. I normally call a couple of times a year so when I look at the issues they fixed, the policy pays for itself every year, which was why I kept it so long. I've had it since 2008.

AHS hit me a note saying that because I'm a member, they can do a basic air condition cleaning which I needed. The tech was very professional and I liked his attitude. He checked the air conditioner, made sure it was working right and that the levels were good in it. He did a good job.

I had my refrigerator break about three weeks ago. The techs from National Platinum Service put a new compressor in and they went to update the software, and it didn't work. So they had to put boards in the back and the refrigerator started working. I have a two-drawer freezer on the bottom of the French doors. The drawer got stuck, I could not open it. So, I called them back, and it took me a couple of days for somebody to call me back. The tech came and steamed the seal on the drawer, and I couldn’t open up the freezer drawer at all. I had about three calls in to them and no one has called me back. With COVID, there were a lot of delays in getting parts and that's no one's fault as far as American Home Shield.
This is my first experience with National Platinum and I am not very happy. It's very aggravating to say the least. I've had a lot of problems with the refrigerator, but this is the first time that I don't even get a call back from them. I lost a lot of food in my freezer and the prices of food today are not reasonable anymore. I have a refrigerator in the garage and a freezer, but it's just the principle of the thing that I had to stuff whatever I could salvage out of there, which was not much. Still, I would recommend American Home Shield. It's not their fault, it's the subcontractor. I had their number and I've called several times and I didn't get a reply. I don’t know if I should call AHS to make them aware of the situation. I've never had a problem with them. I use them for electrical, plumbing and for my appliances. The problem was just recently because of the inventory that was delayed.

I did a claim with American Home Shield for my garbage disposal. Process-wise, it was high marks all the way around. A tech quickly diagnosed the problem and indicated that there was a leak. He couldn't fix the leak and had to put a new unit in. He was done in 20 minutes tops. Everything was covered by the warranty. American Home Shield is worth it. It's cost effective and we're happy with it.

AHS has been good. Every time we have something come up, I know how much my copay is. I’m also able to schedule somebody, and they’re able to come out and get it done. It’s definitely worth it. It’s like, why am I paying this amount every single month. But when you need it though, it’s good to have. You're guaranteed that someone will come out in a timely fashion and they'll fix it. They’ll do it right, and then they’ll get out of there. We were hearing a leak in the wall recently. The tech came out and he worked on it. We were good to go.

We enjoy American Home Shield’s service. We've had a few HVAC issues that have been repaired as well as the dishwasher and the microwave. We're waiting on the water heater right now. That's the only little bit of a downfall right now. It's been almost 10 days, which is a lot to deal with, with a family with no hot water. Price Right Plumbing deemed that it needed to be replaced. So, AHS had one delivered and tomorrow would be the 10th day that we have not had it. I’d like to have more of a quick turnaround. Other than this delay in the water heater, everything’s been fine, so far.

We love American Home Shield. It's the real deal. It saved us a ton of money and time. It's affordable too. We've used them several times and we've got the most bang for our buck with them. They've got good customer service, and they're timely. I never have to worry and wonder if they are gonna send somebody out. It always seems like things get taken care of quickly. Recently, we've had a couple of different plumbing issues. I called the plumber here in town and asked if I could do it and should I go through American Home Shield. He said to do it through American Home Shield and they'd get it taken care of. They sent somebody out and it was quick and painless. I trust Rinck's Plumbing and know Doug very well. We actually had them come when we weren’t even here.

The service of AHS has been good so far. We had a refrigerator that needed a lot of work. They were able to take care of it. We're happy with the result. Three of the shelves that are in there now have broken parts on them, so they've got backups coming in and that's what we're waiting on. The techs were very good. We also had another claim and it went well. AHS has been good so far. They've taken care of what we needed pretty much.

A contractor came out a few years ago for the air conditioning, and in the past month, for the dishwasher. It was spilling out a bit. It would go to the floor if I didn't tighten the door well. We just had to wait for the parts to come in. So, it took the contractor a couple of weeks to come back out. But it wasn't their fault. The parts weren’t ready. I like it doesn't come out of pocket if something large breaks down. It's the peace of mind.

I've had an excellent experience with them. My dishwasher wasn't working properly and it couldn't be fixed, so they replaced it. All I paid was the deductible of $100 and I get a brand-new one. I will always keep AHS and I will tell anybody about them. It's really good.

My air conditioner was taking so long to cool anything down. I called AHS because I specifically wanted a contractor to come out. I thought I would be on hold forever but I was not. The claims process went very quickly and I was very impressed. Higginbottom’s Heat & AC Service, the contractor I requested, then came out and everything was fine. I always request them. Also, AHS has always been great. If I find a technician that I really don't trust or don't like, I tell AHS I'll never have them again and AHS follows through with that.

The service has been great. I had a claim and the contractor was very responsive in a very timely manner, which was fantastic. They were extremely transparent with the process, the timeline, and what it was gonna look like, which was good. There was very little for me or my wife to have to do outside of making the initial phone call. We've had a couple of services when the contractor had to come back on a couple of occasions but outside of that first phone call and then the follow-up phone call, the process was simple and easy.

I'm liking American Home Shield’s service. I’ve used the warranty a couple of times and each time that I've had different things done, from electric to plumbing, the scheduling has been easy. The people that come by are very professional and knowledgeable, and you get a resolution fairly quickly. There was a leak in the bathtub and the plumber was able to take care of it. It works perfectly now.
The plumber had to cut through part of my wall to get to the pipe and that necessitated someone else to come out here to patch up the hole that was cut. The process was fine. The way that it could be better is if there's a way for the plumber or for the agency to get in contact with somebody to repair the hole because I ended up having to call back into home warranty to tell them what happened and give all the information myself. But I’ve never had issues with getting things covered. Aside form the plumbing, I’ve had my air conditioner fixed and I had electrical work done last year. I’ve recommended AHS to three people that I know.

For my garbage disposal issue, American Home Shield got me in contact with someone quickly. And within two days, it was fixed. It took two days because of my busy schedule. So, it wasn't even because they couldn't find someone. AHS has two accounts for the address so I always have to click the second one, which is mine. So, that’s a bit tricky because it doesn’t pop up for me. I only discovered that because it said my account is not active but I know it is. I would recommend AHS from how reliable it is and how fast they can put you in contact with someone that can fix it, especially now, because I'm looking to rent the house because I'm moving.

The claims process went very smooth when our washer went out. It was a lot better than I thought it would go. The first technician that came out to see if it was repairable was very nice and professional. He was very quick with his diagnostics and decision. He told us that it wasn't repairable and then American Home Shield sent us the information about getting a new washer. Then the company that came out for the new washer was great as well. They were very professional and nice too. Everything's been great. I feel very confident in having American Home Shield and I don't feel like I'm wasting money every month to pay them.

I just signed back up after not having had American Home Shield for about three years. I've used it once and the scheduling was good. There was also constant and thorough but not overbearing communication. The tech himself was great and showed up when they said he was gonna show up. I’d give it a 10 out of 10 with one exception. He said, “There are four most common parts on any washer dryer that always break. For all the models that are three years new or newer, I can keep all four of those parts for the top models that we service.” My model was one of the top models. It is four years old, so he had none of the parts for mine. They had to make two trips and instead of getting it fixed the first trip, I had to wait 11 days. I was without a washer for a third of the month. The service cost 100 bucks. The part would have been 400 bucks. I paid 10 days to save 300 bucks so still not unhappy.

I had a water leak and it stained my ceiling tiles downstairs. Patriot Plumbing came out and they said it's not a plumbing issue but an HVAC one. An HVAC guy came out today and he said he couldn't see where it's leaking. I'm kind of stuck now and he doesn’t know what to do. Also, I have a home in my ceiling from where they tried to repair it.

Techs came for a pre-season check and checked everything. Everything was in the right place and it was all good. The only thing they couldn't check was the air conditioning and how much psi it had in the refrigerant because they said it was still too cold to be able to test that out. I had another claim where techs came out and did a roof leak repair. I also put in a claim a few days ago for a septic pump replacement. When I did it online, I put septic pump and somehow it went to sump pump. Home Shield assigned a contractor. They called me and I told them it was septic pump. They turned around and said they didn't do that. They canceled that order and I had to call back Home Sheild. They did it online while I was talking to them and they put sump pump also. They called me back again and they had to cancel that one again.
I put another one in again yesterday, which said septic pump and I triple-checked. I called a guy yesterday and we scheduled an appointment. They're supposed to be out today. I've been emailing and calling them and I still haven't gotten a response back. That's frustrating especially since I've already had to pay for the septic people to come and pump the system out because the stuff was starting to back up into the house. I'm just waiting for them to come out and find out what's going on so I can get that done and repaired. I've also been having trouble with people picking up and answering. There is a language barrier when talking to a majority of them as well.

The valve on the sink in the bathroom needed to be done. But in the fine little print, I didn't see that American Home Shield didn't cover the part in my bathtub. So, I haven't gotten it done yet because I gotta still find somebody with a reasonable price to get that fixed. There's always something that breaks that they don't cover. But everybody's still paying them and that's what makes things frustrating. Also, when you are on a fixed income, you can’t get somebody to do things right away. You gotta wait and try to get money up to save a little here when you on a once-a-month income. So it brings things a little tight for you.

I had a clogged line and they had DHS come out. DHS did not have the proper equipment to go in there and the snake that they had only made it to 25 feet. I told AHS that I needed somebody else but they kept on sending me to DHS. It was three times that they put in another request. They finally got it after being on the phone for almost three hours with them and they got me another plumber. The second plumber came out and did a really good job. This was the first time I've ever had a problem. AHS can improve on the people who answer the phone to be more attentive to what somebody keeps on saying. But other than that, I like their service.

The dishwasher would start, but water wasn't moving through the system and the parts weren't moving inside. The scheduler called me and told me the times available, and the gentleman came over and did his assessment of things. He seemed to be fairly conscientious of things. He took his shoes off and was careful where he put stuff. He was very polite and responsive. He said the motor burned out and it was leaking underneath. He said he was going to order them and then cleaned up. Then he came back when the part was available and put it in, and everything seems to work now. I had American Home Shield about three years ago. We initially got it a couple of months before we put our place up for rent while we were gone for a year. It was an easy way to manage if rental comes and then, we've kept it afterwards because it's been nice to have as an insurance policy for situations.

We've had American Home Shield with multiple homes and would definitely recommend them. Recently, our refrigerator froze up and quit cooling. They did a video call and the repairman saw what was wrong with it. He ordered the parts, came in about three days later and fixed it. He was here about an hour.

We had some toilet issues where the water was draining. A gentleman from Silva came over and he resolved that issue. Having American Home Shield helps with the ongoing issue I have. They took care of my first claim. I had a problem with my refrigerator and a microwave and they sent me a service technician. He couldn't fix the appliances so the home warranty replaced both items. I started a few months ago and I'm very happy and satisfied with their approach and services.

I’ve had two claims and the first claim was a disaster. The contractor looked at the issue, said, “Oh, you've got a problem here,” didn't follow COVID protocol, and then would never call back to fix the issue. It was a bad contractor. Then the escalation process took a week. I don't know how many hours I spent trying to talk to their customer service around the world. The level of quality of the customer support companies they're engaging is low. I asked to talk to managers over and over and over again. Finally, I called another department entirely, a sales department, and I pleaded my case. The rep escorted me to the customer service people where she helped plead my case. I found someone who was wonderful and helped me. It took me calling three times a day for a week. But then the next repair I had, the guy that came out was the owner of the company and he was here for an hour to fix my oven. It was awesome.
The people at American Home Shield's customer service call center are not empowered to help me. They kept on escalating and whatever the next level of support for contractor issues, they weren't answering back either. They didn't have a manager they could escalate to. They didn't have anyone else I could contact. It was like a dead end. Another thing is that American Home Shield needs to screen their contractors. When I looked up the contractor that they assigned for my first request, they had really bad reviews online.

My most recent claim was for my refrigerator. American Home Shield sent out a guy, but he didn’t do anything. He looked around and said there was nothing wrong with it. The next morning, the refrigerator was doing the same thing it did when he first got here. It was freezing up. But they never came back out. I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a year and I've been paying them $60 a month for the last year. That’s 700 and some dollars. Then, I have to pay this guy to come out here that wasn't qualified to fix my refrigerator a $100. I’ve been calling American Home Shield for them to try to get these people to do something. I had to pay a technician from Samsung $375 today to fix my refrigerator. It has been broken since the 22nd of April.

I have purchased (American Home Shield) AHS silver, when I purchased 4 plex home in Santa Clara, California. AHS is not for old old homes. There is clause in AHS book to exclude every repair for old house.
Lesson 1. learned: No cleanout installed - no plumbing coverage from AHS.
After 2 months I had kitchen sink clog. Filed a ticket for a plumber company assigned snaked and clog did not got fixed and contractor did not call. They assigned second contractor "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" came and told "no Clean out," no warranty cover. Suggested me to break everything and repipe or do hydro jetting- useless recommendation.
Solution: I went to third-party local experienced plumber and paid 800. They sawed out, replaced clogged joint plumbing line and everything works.
Issue 2 & 3: Preseason heating check ; AC not working.Lesson 2: AHS don't cover AC controls. Inexperienced contractors don't know to open vents before they test. Wasted 150 instead I could have paid third party and saved 3 weeks of time.
Contractor comes, turns heater on and burner stops after 2 min. contractor denies to clean as AC is not working. Recommends file new ticket for AC not working,
paid money again for new ticket. New contractor to repair AC comes and says damper control not working, not covered by AHS, quotes me 2600 to fix controls.
Solution: Called third party licensed AC mechanic, charges me 300 and fixes a screw to open the damper and everything works fine. Told vents are closed on the floor so heater is heated and stopped as temperature is reached the limit.
Issue 4: Electrical outlet loose contact.AHS contractor comes and fixes loose contact within 3 days. I am surprised AHS is able to fix an outlet after I paid more than $950+ in this span of 8 months.
Issue 5: Shower water flow speed reduced.Lessons: Flow restrictions in plumbing line not covered by AHS.
If you see "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" run away. If you use Delta faucet, home owner have to order for replacement parts from Delta lifetime warranty- (this process takes up to 1 months) and AHS will not cover parts. They don't care about customer inconvenience. AHS assigned a contractor in October 2022, he comes to home and said he will be back with parts. After 2 weeks I called AHS, they said will contact contractor and be back within 48-72 hours. Called AHS, after a week gets a reply, wait for 48-72 hrs to contact contractor. After 1 week AHS agent says contractor still not responding, they will have to connect to AHS contractor relations wait for 48 hrs. Nobody from AHS provides status wait for another 2 weeks.
AHS customer relationship agent is not responding, wait for 48hrs, drama goes for 1 month. I lose patience, asks for new contractor if old one is out of business. They tell me I pay again for new contractor because contractor is out of business and he got paid. I explains it is not my fault they assigned contractor: "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing." He shows up on Feb and says: Since I am using Delta faucets I have lifetime warranty. I need to contact Delta faucet company warranty department. After waiting for 5 hrs on phone Delta faucet tells me they will ship replacement. Takes 1 months to get replacements.
In the 1 months they closes ticket. In March 2022 need to call and explain that the issue is not fixed and needs a recall. Person from "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" comes and replaces cartridge and water flow from shower becomes worse than before. AHS will not fix if they are flow restrictions in plumbing line which are common for old homes.
"Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" recommends break the walls and repipe or change the value or I don't know as the problem can be anywhere: All I can say is cost can be very high and AHS will not cover flow restrictions which he has created. Called AHS and asked why does it take them 6 months to say it is not covered? Asked they their contractor made flow even worse can he undo it, they said they will recall and nothing happened. After 6 months of patently waiting to get shower flow ends with disappointment of no coverage. If it is not covered why waste lots of time of customers?
Solution: Hired experienced third party plumber and paid 950 to get shower value replaced.
Summary of lessons for AHS usage:Lesson 1: No cleanout installed- no plumbing coverage from AHS.
Lesson 2: Flow restrictions in plumbing line not covered by AHS.
Lesson 3: AHS don't cover AC controls. Inexperienced AC contractors don't know to make sure AC vents are open.
Lesson 4: If you see contractor "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" runaway.
Lesson 5: Have patience to wait for 6 months to get status on plumbing issue is not covered by AHS.
Finally canceled American Home Shield and got relieved of agony caused by AHS.
Pros: AHS will assign a contractor within a week. Friendly customer care soothingly talk when you are in deep urgent plumbing trouble.
Cons: AHS will guarantee to find a clause to avoid any costly repairs.AHS Plumbing and AC contractors are inexperienced and not motivated to solve the problem.
AHS contractors are motivated to find a clause to avoid repairs.
If you use Delta faucet, home owner have to order for replacement parts from Delta lifetime warranty- (this process takes up to 1 months) and AHS will not cover parts. They don't care about customer inconvenience.
AHS should be named under warranty company. It should be listed under companies who provide inexperienced contractors phone numbers.

My heating and air unit stopped cooling. I put in a request to American Home Shield and they gave me a one-week time frame to have it fixed, but then they changed it to two weeks. Then they changed it back to one week. Since I work from home, it was fine. The tech came out and I gave him a good review because I thought he had fixed it. But it didn't last 24 hours. The house backed up to 87 degrees. It was too hot to wait two weeks to live in the house. My friend's cousin is a heating and air professional and he simply told me to go put my hand over the unit. When I put my hand over the unit, he asked if it was blowing warm or cold air. I said it was blowing cold air. He said the compressor was bad. So he came and changed my compressor out, and my house is great. It's working great.
I called back American Home Shield and I told the rep that I got someone else to fix it. She said, "Well, if you had called us back, we could have sent out a senior specialist." I said, "You should have sent someone out in the beginning that would have fixed it right." And after, I was thinking, I was like, "He was saying he couldn't get to the unit to really check anything or fix it." I've had to have a part replaced in it before. This is the first time I've ever heard that.
I asked for a manager in American Home Shield but the rep said, "I cannot transfer you to a manager. I don't have one in." I said, "I work at call centers, so I know there's always a manager available. I know they tell you to tell the customers there's not one available." I told her to have someone call me after 5:30pm Central Standard Time because that's when I was off work. They called every time except after 5:30. I had to pay $100 for them to send someone out and then another $79 for the guy that cleaned the coils. Then I'm out of another $125 to pay someone that actually fixed the issue. I'm extremely dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

Wayde P. Adams came out for the appliance repair and the tech was the best. I got a new dishwasher and I just had to pay the difference. East Electronics was the worst, though. Also, it hasn't been that great of an experience with American Home Shield because they don't follow up. It's difficult sometimes with some of the representatives because a few of them is hard to understand. They don’t speak very good English. And sometimes they could never transfer you to a supervisor if you weren’t getting the information that you needed from them. They will leave you on hold.

American Home Shield is only as good as their next transaction. So far, I'm not happy. I’m a Realtor, so I recommend AHS. I've had good experiences, so I don't want to take one bad experience and say that AHS is terrible. But the one vendor that they gave me, I wouldn't rate that vendor good. It doesn’t seem like there’s any accountability with these vendors. Who is holding the vendor that American Home Shield is recommending to come to my home accountable for them completing their assignment? I was late getting to my house for them to come back in and complete the job. And I told them, “I can’t get there in 30 minutes.” He came, left, but never came back. Now, they want to send it to another vendor. So, I've got to go ahead and start the process all over again after I've pulled my dishwasher out of the space in my house as this vendor instructed. He turned it off, so somebody else has to come in and do the job. That’s not fair to me.
AHS needs to figure that out because my dishwasher still needs to be taken care of. They said, “We got to send a new person out.” I said, “No.” They’re not holding that other vendor accountable. That’s not good. That vendor doesn’t care about me. AHS needs to have vendors that are in-house, if they can. Somebody that cares about the company, not just their company as an independent contractor. They need to have better relationships with the vendors that they recommend coming to my house. Other than that, they are always able to send someone out. It's just the breakdown of who they're using to get the job done for me, the consumer. They need to tighten up on that.

We needed our air conditioners serviced for the summer and the tech they sent out was very nice, pleasant, and professional. He told me that everything was in working order. It's a very old system but he said it was in very good condition, given the age of the air conditioners, and it should run smoothly for us for the summer. With AHS, I have confidence that we can get things fixed in a very professional way without needing to worry about it. It's a warranty that we know we have someone we can call if something breaks down. That's a big benefit.

I had one issue in regards to the AC but American Home Shield sent someone to look at it. They were supposed to do a tune-up so they came to do the tune-up. I'm supposed to follow up with them just to be sure, but they were able to reschedule it because the first time around, someone came out but they didn't do what they were supposed to come out for. They ended up coming back and rescheduling and getting the repair done. American Home Shield could improve their communication. I don't really get emails of confirmation or any communication. When they say they're gonna follow up, they don't. I had to call several times just to get this AC situation resolved or even get a reach-out with the AC company. They would inform me that they'd send me an email or contact me, but they didn't.

I used them to find someone to give my central air unit a tune-up. I logged into my account and selected AC tune-up and then from there, it went to a site where I was able to get someone scheduled. They sent me an email confirmation. Then the company that was going to service my unit sent an email confirmation with the date and time. The company kept in contact with me as far as being on time or running behind. The tech was very helpful, insightful, and informative. He was really good.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield. Recently, I noticed my AC wasn't cooling for a few hours. I've repaired it myself but I went ahead and let the AC technician go through with the service. He did some checks on it, and everything turned out fine. The visit was scheduled for Saturday, and they called and rescheduled. I allowed him to come Sunday, and he came and did what was needed.

I submitted a claim over a weekend for a microwave that wasn't heating and they were really prompt in getting back to me. The techs diagnosed my issue and ordered parts. Two guys came over the second time because the guy said that they had to have an extra person to help take the microwave out. I had told that first guy, “Well, I'd be around so I can help if I need to.” He said, “No. We'll bring people over to get it done.” So, everything was great.

American Home Shield didn't fix my stove for a while. Seven months. Also, I thought I had appliances. After I was told that I had it until May, I tried to make the claim. The people in the claims department said I didn't have it. But the people in the billing department said that I still had the appliance protection until the new contract started. But I'm still paying between $70 and $79. Other than that, my air conditioning fan went out a few years ago and the contractor came out the next day and fixed it. I was so thrilled that I hardly had to pay anything. That's why I keep American Home Shield. Also, when the air wasn't working, we were given two options. Either replace the evaporator coil and get the ductwork refigured, or get a different air conditioning. We chose the latter. We already got the whole thing. I might have gotten another contractor. But so far, I'm good for this outlay.

Some of the contractors of AHS are good but some of them are scam artists. They sign up to work for American Home Shield, and then they talk their way out of doing anything. I've had two of them. When I called to have my heating and cooling system checked, she told me that everything was good, but it was not. I had him come twice so I figured there was no sense in saying anything until it actually breaks because until it breaks, they aren't going to do anything. Hopefully, when it breaks, they'll send me somebody worthy of fixing it.
I also had a plumber. I told him he wasn't leaving without fixing the plumbing problem. He gave me a line of ** and walked out and told American Home Shield that there was nothing wrong. He couldn't find a problem. But the second plumber they sent was good. He was very thorough and checked everything that I asked him to check. I've also had an electrician. He was very knowledgeable and did the work. I like the service of AHS when I get somebody that’s willing to do the work. I'll keep them because eventually, they seem to get things fixed.

The service of AHS was good. My AC unit went out for my recent claim. I called AHS. They said they’d have a tech out here. The following Monday, he came out and then he came back Tuesday and fixed it. It's been doing good now. The tech was here when he said he would be here.

A lock on our washing machine was broken and the washer would not turn on. The tech went right to it and figured it out. He didn't have the part with him, which would have been helpful. But he figured it out and he went out and put it on order. Then he came back and fixed it. Everything's fine now.

The company that services my heating and air conditioning bi-annually to make sure they’re running said that the coil was freezing up and there was a leak. I called American Home Shield and they sent out United Air Temp of Georgia. The tech that came up said that the coil was frozen. He put in some Freon, which I paid for, and he said that he was gonna send his manager out here to look at it.
The manager came out an hour later and tried to tell me he was gonna give me a quote because I might as well replace my whole air conditioner and furnace. Because once the coil starts to freeze up, it's just going to be nothing but problems. He was leaning on me heavily to replace my air conditioner and I said I was not doing that. A week and a half went by and I never hear from anyone. I called American Home Shield and they were awesome. The rep got on it right away and called the contractor. They said that the contractor never sent in a claim for approval.
The contractor is supposed to come out here but I've never heard anything from them as to whether they are coming or not. It's a wait-and-see situation right now. But at this point, I don't trust this contractor because they were trying to get me to buy a new air conditioner rather than spend the money to fix an air conditioner. They were saying that American Home Shield had a deal going on right now, that they would put $2,500 towards a new air conditioner and it would be worth my while to take advantage of that. But a new air conditioner would cost me $10,000 so 2,500 is just nothing. Why would I go into debt for something that doesn't need to be replaced? Other than that, American Home Shield provides consistently excellent customer service. Whether you put in a claim online or you call them, they’re on top of it. I can’t recommend them enough.

We had a horrible experience with American Home Shield. I called and let them know that our stuff broke. It was the middle of the night when it stopped working. They told us it would be two weeks. I asked, “Can we get a payout? Would that be faster?” The rep told me it would take two weeks for that as well. I told her to forget it but she ended up putting it through even though I told her not to.
I sat around waiting, and it got to be two weeks. I hadn't heard from them. The plumber was calling me asking what was going on and if they were putting a water heater in for us. He kept trying to help us get it taken care of. I called American Home Shield and they told me that they had put in for a payout and that we never responded to the email, which I didn't see. I went and looked and sure enough, they had sent us that. I asked them if they could order another water heater. They told me it would be another two weeks. It turned out that it never got put in again. I never got a reason why it was never ordered. I got told that it was denied because of a part that we needed to pay for out of pocket, which we were told upfront by the plumber when he came out to my house. I told them right then and there, “That's fine. I just need hot water as soon as possible.”
After all that, they had never ordered it. I called again and again, and I kept getting told, “We'll put it through.” After days and days of calling, it still was never ordered and I couldn't get an answer as to why. Finally, it got ordered but it took forever. This was after they told me, after all that, that they would just let the plumber put one in. When all this initially happened, he told me it would take him three days and he’d have one in my house. He said he had done this through American Home Shield before, and they used to let him order it if it was gonna take forever and come out and put it into people's houses.
I didn't get a call from them until days later. He said they approved it over the weekend and that he would be in my house first thing Monday morning to put one in. Apparently, they didn't and nobody bothered to tell me until days later again. I finally got ahold of them and the rep told me, “We ordered it. It'll be here by Friday. You should have one by Monday.” All of this took six weeks which is a little bit ridiculous. They were unhelpful and couldn't seem to ever answer any questions. I keep asking and the rep kept saying, “It's getting denied. I can't tell you why. I don't know why."
It was the most unacceptable situation. I run a cat foster out of my house. This year I had 10 babies, and they all have ringworm, which I ended up getting because I couldn't take a shower to clean myself off properly when handling kittens with ringworm. That put me in a horrible situation that I ended up having a medical issue over because we didn't have any hot water. I was more pissed when the plumber told me that he had another people call him four weeks after this happened to us and they had their water heater within five days and it was through the same company.
I've been using American Home Shield for about 12 years since I've moved to the South. I've had them off and on and never had any problems. I've always told everybody that American Home Shield’s the best. However, we were having the same issue this last two years with them. When our fridge broke, it took months. They kept sending someone out and it kept not getting fixed. It ended up where I threw over $900 worth of food because they wouldn't do anything about the fridge. One guy had gotten a fight in our kitchen with my boyfriend and they kept sending him back to our house. They said would have to cancel the claim and send someone new out and do it. I told them this guy was coming into my house, disrespecting people in our house and arguing with them. I shouldn't have to pay another $100 for them to send someone out here that is gonna be an ** in my home. I shouldn't have to pay another $100 and wait more weeks for them to get this taken care of.”
After threatening the rep that I'm cancelling my contract, she finally offered to refund us our service fee. But before that, she had kept refusing to do anything. I'm pretty unhappy and as much as I wanna cancel my policy at this point, I have one more item in my house that if it broke, I wouldn't be able to afford it, and it's been acting up.

When I file a claim with American Home Shield, they're pretty timely in getting back to me and setting up contractors. As far as customer service, as soon as I put in the ticket on the platform or portal, they call. When techs come to visit, they already know what's going on and they've settled the claim. The only issue I've had is the company's communication as far as rate hikes. Those haven’t been communicated too well. I found out about the increase just by looking at my account. that could be improved upon. If there are going to be rate increases, whether it be the deductible or even monthly fee, they should let the customers know. Recently, I did a claim for my AC and the issue wasn't resolved. Techs came out and looked at it. They're coming this week again and I'm pretty sure they're gonna fix it.

Having AHS, I have the security of knowing that we always have an option of getting things repaired. We've used them for two different houses and they've always been very fair and professional. I highly recommend it. On our recent claim, we didn't think the gas burners were igniting. The repairman checked and double-checked it, and it was an operator error. It was our fault. For the refrigerator, he's come out several times because lines have been clogged. He quickly ordered new parts then came back and got it fixed.

American Home Shield sent someone out twice to my house. I only bought my house in October. I had a problem with my refrigerator, and then I had a problem with the GFCI. I always get a home warranty because I'm not good at fixing stuff. I've made two calls on the current home warranty I have. On the first call, it wasn't quite that easy. I needed to confirm whether or not it was an LG versus a Kenmore. So, I had to leave my office, drive home and find out what kind of fridge it really is, and then send everybody pictures of it.
I wasn't happy because they did not forward that information over to the servicer. So, when they called to book the appointment with me, they were like, "Well, I need to know whether it's an LG" and I was like, "I have no idea." I had to go home again because American Home Shield did not see the information through the tech. But that was the only glitch. Both technicians that AHS sent out for the refrigerator and for the electrical were phenomenal. They were really nice.

It took the repair people a week to come in and take a look at the dryer and because they didn't have any parts, they had to order one. That took another week and that needs to be worked on, but otherwise, their service was good. The belt was broken, so they fixed it. American Home Shield's pretty good too. Their system of going online and putting a complaint and order in is simple. It works pretty well, and they are very responsive. Somebody usually contacts us within the next day. It's just that, in relatively smaller cities like Birmingham, Alabama, they sometimes have trouble finding good contractors. Sears is good. However, I've had some plumbing issues in the past and the contractor was not completely honest. They didn't do a good job. It wasn't anything on AHS though.

My garbage disposal stopped working. A service tech came and said he fixed it. But it wasn't fixed, which was annoying, so I had to get him back again. He seemed competent but he was a grumpy old guy. He actually came out about two years ago too for the garbage disposal. He seemed to have fixed the garbage disposal the second time around but it was never clear to me what exactly the problem was. I have no confidence that it's really fixed now. It's working but I don't know how long it's gonna stay working.
Our plan with American Home Shield covers a lot of things and the response time is usually pretty quick to get people out to fix things. We have gotten some good repairs done for a very reasonable price, which is exactly the point of having it. We've had some problems with an HVAC unit and techs were out within a day or two and got them straightened out. Those normally would be a $300 service call but we were paying $75 with American Home Shield. It makes the wife very happy because it gives her a feeling of security in the house. Everything is pretty much as advertised with American Home Shield. We pay for it and the price is fixed. They get local people out to fix the problem and it works pretty well. We would consider doing it again.

My refrigerator was not cooling and then, some part inside my washing machine exploded and I was having water coming through my walls. So I filed a claim online on my profile and it was pretty simple. The contractor responded pretty quick. They were very informative and knowledgeable. They looked like they knew what they were doing. I would recommend American Home Shield. The guy who came for the air conditioner that wasn't blowing out cold air was able to assess the problem quickly. It ended up that the capacitor had caused a blown fuse, so he had to replace the capacitor and add some freon. My biggest issue is the claim was not covered as much as it should be. For the low freon, the cost to replace it was $180, but American Home Shield only covered $20 of it. I had to come up with $160 out of pocket.

When you join AHS, I was under the impression you pay your $100 and that's it. But there are some little things that you have to pay for out of pocket. Other than that, it's a good thing. Although you still have to come out this $100, you don't have that put away first thing in your budget. It'll be to your advantage because you don't know how to repair the issue yourself.
Everything was pretty smooth except the first time I called. It was several days and the person they told me that would contact me did not contact me. AHS could not contact them. They need to make sure that the people they have on their call list will come out and serve. The claim for my air conditioner went really well and I was very satisfied. The techs came right on like they said they would. When the techs left, there was a little block in it but I did not call back because usually if I do that, that's another $100.

We had not used the AC for six months and when we started using it, we felt that it was not working outside. AHS responded fast to get my call and in the next 48 hours, the tech was in my house fixing it. He took his time, checked everything, and changed the motor. Now, the AC is working. I had a microwave claim and using the online portal was smooth and easy. But the number I was given was for a contractor who said he hadn't been contacted. They put me back with AHS and this other gentleman called and said they would be out that day. Instead of being between 9:00 and noon, it was between 4:00 and 5:00 but they did come out that same day.

One of the pipes that run into the water heater was leaking. All Points Plumbing gave me really good, quick service. They replaced the hose. I was asking them questions about a shut-off breaker line that goes directly to the house. They said, “You don’t need a contract to get one installed. Just buy yourself a meter key, and that will solve the problem.” They were very helpful and were able to give me solutions to what I thought was going to be very expensive work. The AHS rep was also very helpful. They gave me an appointment that worked well for my schedule.

One of the big problems I had was that when I took the policy, the people said I was covered for this and that. They also told me that I could just file a claim for anything that breaks down in my house. But they didn't explain some of the things that are in the contract, including things about preexisting conditions and the things inside the house versus outside the house. So they kind of lead me to believe that the coverage is broader than it is. I received two different welcome calls, and neither of them talked about those things. I'm disappointed on how we were oriented. I was misled during that process. As far as once you fit within their framework and if it seems to be, from their perspective, a legitimate problem, then the process seems to work fairly well.
I called American Home Shield and told them that my washing machine was making a puddle under it. In this particular case, the claim was fairly smooth and obvious. But we've had some other dealings with American Home Shield that were less smooth. There was case where a valve was stuck and you couldn't turn it. But when you look at it, you wouldn't know that. American Home Shield claimed that they don't cover stuff like that.

On my second to the last call with American Home Shield, I got into a situation where the gal on the phone was not understanding what the issue was. They had worked on our air conditioner, and it was working fine for about a month, and when it quit, I called them again. The gal kept putting me on hold to check on the contract, which was fine but then she came back to tell me, "Well, if it's the part they put on, it's got a one-year warranty, so you'll have to call the company that made the parts." I said, "Well, why do I have to call them? I don't know anything about it." I also said, "Secondly, I don't know that that's the problem. It could be something else." She said, "Oh, no, you gotta call them in order to get it fixed." I said, "No, no, that's not right." This went on back and forth for over 45 minutes. Finally, she said, "Well, I can't get ahold of the tech department, so you'll have to call back later." That was the end of that conversation.
I waited a while and called back and talked to another gal, and she went ahead and put me down for a service call. She put me into a different company. They come out, and all their guy did was check to make sure we had the proper Freon and he said, "Oh, it's fine. There's really no problem." That was the end of the call, but it still didn't work. I finally hired another person, independently, and ended up having to pay $150 to get it fixed right. He checked it all out and found out that it was a plugged line. He unplugged it, and it's been working fine since.
Other than that, this first call on that air conditioning went fine. The techs found out that it needed a new heat pump and condenser, and they had to order it, and then had to wait to come in. That was about a three-week ordeal to finally get our air conditioner supposedly up and running and it lasted for less than three weeks. I wasn't too happy.

Both my ACs were not working good. I called the claim in and then they set up the service. The technicians came the next day and took care of it. They were knowledgeable and friendly. I'm satisfied. I also had a plumbing claim and initially, the plumber that American Home Shield sent out did not complete the job. So I called back but the plumber did not even bother responding. The emails and phone calls were not answered. So when I informed American Home Shield, they took him off the contract and offered me cash to get it repaired. I was satisfied with that.

Prime Plumbing Services came and I'm satisfied with the work that they did. My garbage disposal broke and there was a leakage. They had to come and replace the garbage disposal. However, I'm not satisfied with the other requests that I had for the AC. I had to call somebody to fill the freon. The technician came and said it is working as normal. But still, I'm not satisfied with the performance of my AC. It's taking longer time. It's not cooling properly. On a hard day, it is taking four or five hours and my energy bills are up. I had to fill the freon every now and then, a few times a year. Definitely, there are some leakages somewhere. But American Home Shield is not able to fix it.

We recently had a routine AC tune-up. A converter was bad and needed to be replaced, and that's what the technician did. We ran into issues though. The technician needed to put in a new work order for the replacement. The first agent he talked to had no idea what they were doing, was unhelpful, didn't understand what he was asking for, and it was very hard to understand what they were saying. They mumbled a lot. But that was the only hiccup that we had. The next agent that we got was perfectly fine. They were very competent and well-spoken. They did exactly what we needed in a matter of minutes.

The guy who came out was very knowledgeable. He gave me information about duct. I was gonna get some duct cleaning. He fixed the problem. One of my heaters/air conditioning was not working. So, he came and he went up and told me what the problem was and why it was not working. He did some work on it. He told me to replace some filters, and I did. He said, “You shouldn't have any more problems.” Now, it's working. He was excellent.

The tech who came was very professional, seemed to know what he was doing, and did a good job. Unfortunately, we still don't know exactly what the problem is. It's a shower that was leaking. He's gonna file a report, and then we'll have to see what American Home Shield will do. We had a previous claim that was a follow-up on a dryer in our second home. We have two homes under warranty. There was a noise in the dryer that had not been there before. Some previous repair work had been done and they were not able to find it and just gave up on it. It's not as bad as it was, but the technician worked hard to try to find the problem when he heard the noise, but he could not identify what it was. Overall, I've been pleased with the service that we've had at both homes. The technicians that are being sent out are good and qualified, and the response has been prompt and professional and most problems have been fixed.

I sold my house and would be out at the end of the month. Since I didn't want to be billed next month I called a couple weeks early hoping they could simply terminate my warranty at the end of the month. No such service. Your warranty ends the minute you cancel so if you want to cover your home until the last day you own it you have to call on the day you close to cancel. Like you have nothing else to do that day.
Then you get the voicemail robot that knows immediately who you are from your phone number, knows your account, address and everything, but as soon as you ask for a representative they know nothing. Suddenly you must spell your name, your address, give them your email, etc. Then that specialist must transfer you to another person who asks you all the same questions again. And then to top it off you have to give them a credit card number so they can bill you for cancelling! You have to actually pay for this mind numbing experience of wasting 35 minutes on the phone.

The fan was not turning on the heat pump. So, the furnace was working, but the heat pump was not coming on. I made the appointment online, but I did speak with someone from American Home Shield. The technicians were very courteous and kind, and they cleaned up their mess. Everything was fine. AHS is great.

American Home Shield has always been good so I'm happy with them. My experience with them recently was effortless. Lake Plumbing came out and handled the problem. It was a faucet that had a leak and there was a bathroom fixture on the tub. The diverter was bad, so the plumber had to order parts for both. Once he got the parts, which took three or four days, and once we got the parts, he came back out and installed them.

Service with them has been pretty good other than the dishwasher issue last year. But that was just a miscommunication thing. Recently, my water heater decided to die. The process was a lot quicker than I had anticipated. But there were some things that weren't covered. So, we paid out of pocket for that. One thing I don't understand is that when I picked up AHS, it's 55 bucks a month. When I talked to them about it, they were like, "Oh, well, you have to wait till next year." because I didn't know that the price had changed until it was taken out of my account. Other than that, AHS is worth it.

I had American Home Shield when I moved to Ohio. I then moved to South Carolina and went to another business. They were horrible so I went back to American Home Shield. I found that they even got better because I used to be on hold forever and I don't have to anymore. I called them for my refrigerator and dishwasher. The techs that came were really nice guys. There was a delay in getting parts but that's because of the world today. In the end, they were great and they got the units working.

Whenever I call American Home Shield, they charge me $125 on a credit card right then and there for the claim and then they'll send out the technician to verify. The process is pretty easy except for one thing. When you are trying to submit a claim, it has prompts and asks, “Is it a toilet leak? A kitchen sink leak?” But they didn't have my category, which was a slab leak. So I put then that it was a hot water heater leak.
Later on, I called them and told them that it wouldn't let me put the right leak. So I had to cancel the first work order and put for a second work order because if they came out for a hot water heater leak and it's actually a slab leak, that's a second leak. They will charge me 125 for one leak and 125 for another because it's two different things. So in order for them to go out, I had to make sure I told them that it was a slab leak. The rep that I talked to should have been able to cancel my first order. But she was not able to cancel it. I had to call in and cancel that order in order for them to put in the correct type of leak.
At one point, I wanted to cancel my American Home Shield. So in order to get me back as a consumer, they said that they were gonna give me one free service call. But every time I do a service call, they can't find the free service call that I was promised. I still have to pay the 125. I'm trying to let them know I have a free certificate for one free service call. But when you're on the automated system, you have to use your credit card to make the payment before they'll send someone out. So I don't get my little free service call and I don't know how to get it. If they are gonna give you a free service called due to a discrepancy or dissatisfaction with the service, they need to make sure that the customer knows how to get it.
Even though American Home Shield paid up to $500 for the slab leak, which I paid the plumber $1,600 for the slab leak, it would have been 2,300 if American Home Shield didn't step in. But the leak has damaged all my carpet and I don't know how to claim the other damage. So I'm going through my homeowners insurance and that's a $2,000 deductible to see if they will help cover some of the costs. To improve American Home Shield's services, customers need to know exactly what they cover. So that if we do have another claim, we can put that in so that American Home Shield will kick in. Other than that, American Home Shield has been great. I'm glad I have them if I do need them.

They replaced the washer and it took some time. It was during Mardi Gras so I allowed a little leeway because there were parades and stuff going on. I know the replacement won't happen that fast. But other than that, the service was great. AHS comes in handy when we're tight on a budget.

When the technician initially came out, my ice maker wasn't working. So he replaced the ice maker and told me that I should see ice within the next 24 to 48 hours. But I didn't see anything. The technician told me if I didn't see anything to call back because I had 30 days for him to come out and do a revisit if it was necessary. So I called back two days later, and then he called me again to ask me what was going on. I told him and he came back out. There was a fuse that was broken in the bottom that was going to the ice maker unit freeze. He fixed it and I've had ice ever since.
The technician was great. When he came out the first time, he was very descriptive and informative. He provided me with a lot of information on the unit and how it works and what he was doing. I was asking a lot of questions. He was very responsive during both appointments. He did check back with me after the second appointment and wanted to make sure that the ice maker was working. I really appreciated the effort and the time that he put out here.
Everything was easy with the claim process. It was really seamless. Unfortunately, the ice maker wasn't fixed the first time, but things like that happen. I didn't get upset because of how quick American Home Shield responded to my request for someone to come out and do a revisit. So that was all taken care of from the first appointment to the second appointment. It wasn't even a week.

Our experience with Airmax was very great. The AC would come on, but it would be slightly delayed. There was a small malfunction and a small circuit board, and they changed that out. The tech diagnosed the problem, but he didn’t have the part in the van, which is common. They ordered the part. He didn’t take long. It took about 20 mins to tell me what the problem was. The part took two days, and it came right on that morning and it didn’t take the guy 10 minutes to change it.
I like that American Home Shield's customer service is very good. It was really easy to let them know of the problem. I got a call fairly quickly, and they did give me the number if I want to call them to make it quicker. I worked with Airmax before, and I love that company. Everybody that comes out is so down to earth. Back in the day, we could get an actual physical person to do everything for us. Now, you can go online, and you can speak to an AI type of thing. That's one of the things that you kind of have to get used to. Other than that, I have not had any problems with American Home Shield.

I got an email from American Home Shield about their promo to get our air conditioners inspected and serviced for the summer. I have two systems in my house and I took advantage of the promo. I put the request in and then I got the confirmation back. Then the contractor came out and did both of them. They were professional and timely. They explained what was going on. They were great.
I also went through American Home Shield to get my dryer vent cleaned. I answered all of the questions, and they wrote and confirmed that the people would come out on Friday morning. So I took the morning off of work. But on Thursday night, after business hours, I got an email saying my appointment was canceled So I called them and said, “What do you mean my appointment’s been canceled?” They said, “Sorry. It's not working out. We couldn't find somebody to match.” I told them, “Well, what do you mean you couldn't find somebody? You sent me a confirmation that this was going to happen and I took the time off work.” They said, “We're really sorry, sometimes this happens. We will reschedule you for Monday.” I was not thrilled, but fine. So we rescheduled for Monday.
I took Monday morning off work. But on Sunday night, the exact same thing happened. So I called American Home Shield and said, “What is going on? I've now taken two mornings off work.” The person I spoke to said, “I want to be really honest, we don't have a lot of people who are doing this work. I wouldn't wait on us. I think this is gonna keep happening. You should go through a different company.” And I said, “But this is the only company that American Home Shield will connect me with.”
I called American Home Shield because of the dryer vent experience and asked them who could I talk to. But had one of those things where I got bounced around to so many people who said, “That's not our department. We're sorry to hear...” Needless to say, I haven't been able to connect with anyone and no one's been able to make it right. I still don't have my dryer vent cleaned. There are lots of good providers out there, but if I'm paying American Home Shield for a service that I can't get from them, I would rather be paying somebody else.

I love American Home Shield. I can get the service online but whenever I call it in, getting a response from them is easy and fast. It's not a problem at all. Usually, hearing back from the vendors or the technicians is fast as well. In the last couple of times though, the turnaround has been a little bit on the slow side. When I started with them, it was much faster. I would get a call back from the vendor within a day. Now, it's a couple of days afterwards, maybe even a week. That's not too bad but I'm a little bit surprised. And it was not just the last vendor but the last couple of issues that I had. But the actual work has been phenomenal from the technicians. So, I'm happy about that. The net result of getting the issue resolved has always been on point for the exception of one time.
I was happy with the last claim that I had with my microwave. It took a little bit of time but that had to do with not being able to get the part. The technician was phenomenal. But the one prior to that was my dryer and that was a nightmare. It was either the vendor or AHS. If I could have sued them, I would have because I was so upset. My dryer was not working and the technician said that we needed parts and as soon as they get it in, they would fix it. The part did not come in for three months. I literally called AHS almost every day for three weeks after waiting two months, and the response was that they would find out and call me back.
There was no reimbursement. It wasn't even "We're sorry." It was, "Let me find out" from the AHS customer support rep. I even wrote down the names of the customer support reps and they're either badge numbers or employee numbers. Because they would tell me that they were gonna call me back or I could call them. And I did that every day for three weeks. It was frustrating as hell. It was not a technician thing but it was AHS’ customer support. I was livid because I was without a dryer for three months. If it was a part thing, I get it. But they can't leave me hanging for three months and then replace the dryer. It was to the point where I needed a dryer and I was about to buy one. Then, suddenly, I got a call from the techs that they got the part and they were coming in.
Ultimately, AHS got the issue resolved. But they had a disconnect with the technician and I, literally, was getting opposite information. According to AHS, the technician had received the part. But the technician was telling me they haven't received them. Nobody was on the same page and I asked for a manager but I never got to talk to one. So there was no resolution from my point of view. I tried logging in a complaint to the customer support service, which I think I ended up doing, but I never got a response from that.

Our garbage disposal stopped working. I turned it on one day and the floor flooded. I did American Home Shield's automated claim process and that was easy. I was given the name of the service company and when they would be here. The tech was very professional and informative. He let me know what he was doing as he was doing it. He had to replace the disposal and he had the part in his truck. Everything is fine.

My washer and dryer went out. I went and bought a new one. At that time, I was waiting for my refrigerator to be fixed. That took a minute, and then they finally got it fixed. So that was when I called out for the dryer because I didn't want to have too many repairs on my hands all at one time. But everything's working great now. With American Home Shield, I like the assurance that if something breaks down, I can get it repaired and not so much of high cost. I like the idea of them fixing it. When I called American Home Shield for our refrigerator, they went ahead and replaced it. I appreciated that because I didn't think that it would end up happening.

A guy from Mr. Rooter came out recently, and it was a pleasant experience. At first, American Home Shield sent out somebody to come take a look at a leak that we reported in our upstairs bathroom. They came out and they cut a hole in the ceiling to see where the source of the leak was. The guy came out and said, "Hey, well, you have some damage on your wood. There's obviously some more soot damage and so, you'll need to get that repaired." He also said, "I really don't know where the leak is coming from, so you might just wanna re-caulk or whatever." I said, "Well, what are the next steps?" He said someone would call from American Home Shield.
I didn't hear anything from American Home Shield for about four weeks. So, I ended up calling them back and told them I just wanted to get my stuff fixed. I just needed to figure out where the heck the source of the leak was coming from so that I could get it fixed because I want to use my shower. There was a lot of back-and-forth. I finally ended up having to speak with one of the managers of American Home Shield. This person was super nice and said, "Hey, why don't we just give you a second opinion?" That was when the Rooter company came out and took a look at it. They couldn't pinpoint the specific issue, but at least this person walked me upstairs and kind of took me through their process of analogy and just by deductive reasoning suggested, "Okay. More than likely, it's the shower. How old is the shower?" "Well, my shower is about 12 years old."
He at least explained it and said, "Hey, it sounds like it's just due to wear and tear. So you may have to just have someone come out to just give you a whole new shower pan." That was kind of where we landed. I appreciated the fact that he at least walked me through the process. I'm still a bit iffy about that because the previous guy said that it was due to maybe some tiles on my floor or caulking, but this other guy said that it's due to a shower pan. The follow-up action would be to have American Home Shield send someone out to repair the drywall where the first guy made a hole in our ceiling. So, we're still dealing with that too.
Overall, my experience is okay. I had to make an escalation to a point to get some action, but once I had notified leadership, their Escalation Department is getting it resolved. So now I just gotta get someone to come out here and fix it. I just didn't appreciate the back and forth with the initial technician. That initial technician was ridiculous. This person wouldn't listen to me at all. I feel like we've spent way too much time on the phone with her. I asked her, "Could I speak to a manager?" I had to go through another five minutes explaining to her why I need to speak to the manager. I like American Home Shield. They've done right by me for a long time. Overall, I would recommend them because I've had other fixes before, and I've never had any issues with them. They're a great company.

I don't call American Home Shield when I submit claims. They're the worst. Their phone ethics is horrible. For some reason, they have my account joined with somebody else's account so A five-minute phone call turns into a two-hour phone call. If I can't submit the claim over the app, I don't even do it. I've had multiple calls to fix my account and after 50 calls, it's still not fixed. I was hoping to get out of American Home Shield before my contract was renewed but it was renewed without me knowing and now I'm stuck.

I had repairs from time to time. Overall, it has been good. I don't have to replace items and deal with exterior contractors that I don't know anything about. When my refrigerator wasn't coming on, the tech reset the motherboard. It appears to be okay. However, my service fee when I call contractors out doubled in a year. It used to be $75 or 55. But it went to over $100. I don’t like that.

My well pump shut off randomly and then, about seven hours later, it came back on. So, when Aquatek, the contractor, came out and reviewed everything, they said the switch on the pump wasn't necessarily a bad switch. He said that sometimes insects or lizards can get into these and they were attracted to them and they can short circuit them. And it's a couple of years old, so it looked like it needed to be replaced. They replaced it and did a fabulous job and was done in less than an hour. They were very professional about everything.

American Home Shield offered a complimentary service to check out the system to make sure it's running okay and the technician did what he was supposed to do. However, I'm not 100% happy with American Home Shield so far. Whenever I call, I'm connected to the Philippines. Although the people try to help, they don't know what's going on. It's very frustrating. I wish there was somebody I could speak to in the United States that can give me straight answers.
I told somebody that called me from American Home Shield last week that I'm trying to get contracts. I have three contracts with American Home Shield. One is my primary residence and the other two contracts are rental units. They don't understand that. They can't digest certain things. They can't comprehend that there is a customer that might have a rental property with contracts on those rental properties. Even I tried to explain that to them, but it doesn't add up to them. They just are like robots. They're reading their scripts and there's just too much small talk.
I've told them a number of times that all mailings have to come to my primary residence, not to the tenants. I don't know how many months I've had these three contracts, but I still do not have a contract for my two rental units. If any mail goes to my tenants, they're going to throw it out. They're not going to call me and tell me to pick up mail. I need them mailed to my house. The woman I spoke to last week said, "All I have on my computer is to send the contract. I don't know if that's email or mail."
The other thing is I had an issue in my primary residence. My garbage disposal was frozen. When the technician came here, he confirmed that it was not repairable. He got another one on the truck and was going to install it. But the one that he installed was not the same horsepower. I said, "I don't care what brand you put in, but you should put an equal one that I have, not a cheap one or one that's not as efficient." He said, "I'm just working for the plumbing company. This is the one that they authorized us to do. Take that up with American Home Shield." That's what I'm doing right now.
I don't think I'm a regular customer. There are four policies I've written in the past year with American Home Shield so I think I'm a good customer. But I don't think I'm being treated that way. Unless things clear up for me, I don't think I would renew these policies with American Home Shield. I'm paying good money and if they treat everybody this way, I don't see how the company can survive.

American Home Shield's website is very easy to navigate. You simply log in, go in and pick what item that you’re having an issue with and then put a brief description. Before the contractors show up at the property, you will get an email and/or text notification saying the company name, along with the technician’s name. They also send the link where you can track their location to see how close they are.
I sent in a claim when the fan stopped working. The tech replaced it and the capacitor that goes along with it. But later, he had to make a return visit because all of the coolant leaked out. He was very knowledgeable and honest. He was also friendly and trustworthy. When he said he was coming, he called me up and he showed up when he said he was going to show up.
I thought I was saving myself some money by going with the lower level policy which is seven bucks less a month. But it only pays for the first $10 of each pound of coolant and the price of air conditioner coolant is like a commodity. It has gone up. The tech told me that American was gonna pay about 80 bucks but I was responsible for about 900 of the rest of it. But the highest tier policy has unlimited coolant. They cover it. But overall, I'm comfortable and secure with American Home Shield. I'm not worried about having to come up with big out-of-pocket expenses, except for the coolant. The coverage is worth it.

I had two claims last week. One was for air conditioning that wasn't cooling and the second one was for a refrigerator replacement. The claims process went really well. It was easy to make the process and they sent somebody out within two days to repair the air conditioning unit and then the refrigerator was replaced within about a week. There was only a deductible of $130 for each one. The refrigerator alone would have cost me $1,500 to $2,000 to replace it. So I saved a lot of money there. Also, everybody was friendly and helpful.

The hot water heater died and Plumbing Enterprises came out. They had to replace the whole heater but they were supposed to come on a Monday and they didn't come until Thursday because the unit was not at the store it was supposed to be at. Also, when they put the heater in, they nicked the wire somehow or touched the ground to hot wire and it shorted out the circuit breaker. I had to call an electrician to come out and I had to pay for that. I'm going to reach out to AHS and tell them what happened so I could be reimbursed for my electrician coming out. Other than that, AHS could have more American people we could talk to. Their outsourcing is outside of the country.

My furnace stopped working April 2nd, 2022. I put in a work order with American Home Shield (AHS) for the furnace on April 4th 2022. AHS dispatched a company to my house that same day. The company arrived, did their evaluation, and said they had to order a part to fix the furnace. They ordered the part on April 5th, came back to install the part April 13th then told me they still couldn’t fix the furnace because they had to order additional parts. I have not heard back from the company and today is April 25th. Per reviews on the BBB, the company that come to fix my furnace has a bad reputation of doing to others as they are doing to me. I've called the company multiple times for an update but haven't reached anyone nor have I gotten a returned call after leaving messages.
I’ve called AHS multiple times as well to follow up and they keep giving me the run around and telling me they sent the company emails and left messages multiple times, but the company has not responded to them. Multiple AHS reps have said they would call me back in a few hours with an update and they never do. I was also told by someone from the escalation department that someone from the contractor relation department would call me back in 24-48hrs, they never did. We are approaching day 8 and they still haven't contacted me.
Today (4/25/22/) I've called AHS many and still no reprieve. An agent from escalations said she promise that she'll call me be back NLT 1pm EST 4/20/22 with a solution and I haven't her from her either. I have a disabled veteran and an elderly person living in the house with health issues that are being complicated by living in extremely cold temperatures. I’ve called AHS back at 1:50pm on 4/21/22 because no one called me back; I got the run around again by another rep. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor, and he said he couldn’t just connect me with them, but he could put in a request for them to call me in 24hrs. My family is continuously getting sick, and no one is trying to assist us.

Water was gushing out because my clothes washing machine was spinning down. We were freaking out thinking that we had a pipe bust. So I called American Home Shield and the tech came out and said, "No. Actually, that's a clean-out valve and somehow the lid came off or whatever, the top came off." He cleaned it all up and put the lid back on. He fixed it and cleaned up the mess. It was great.
Science Appliance came out here to fix my dishwasher and ice maker. They were wonderful. For the dishwasher, its door would yank your arm off when you would try to open it. The tech from Science Appliance said that American Home Shield was not going to cover it because of the wood on the door. It needed new hinges and I told him that I would pay him so he could do it. He said, "Sure." So they quoted me 175. But when he came back, he said that American Home Shield decided to pay for half of it. I was pleased that they agreed to pay for half because I didn't expect them to. Science Appliance had been very good. I was very pleased with Science Appliance and American Home Shield altogether. The warranty is worth spending the money for me because if something comes up, I just have to call American Home Shield and they send somebody out.

My freezer stopped working. Whatever the part was in the back of the machine, the tech had to use a heat gun to take all the ice away first. That took a period of time. But other than that, he was great. He had everything he needed.

Every time we've used AHS, the service has been great and any of the companies that we've ever worked with has been good. We've filed claims for the washer, the garbage disposal, the dishwasher, the hot water heater, and the refrigerator. We've had some pretty big items that we've used it for. We've had it for a long time and we will continue to have the warranty on our home.
The sensor was messed up in our washer. It would just sit there and spin for a long time. When we called, the company checked it, and they ordered the part for us. When it came in, they came back and put it in. We had to get a refrigerator replaced because it ended up not being able to be repaired We got it minus a difference. That was cool.

American Home Shield let me pick out my own contractor. The dishwasher was leaking and the contractor couldn't repair it. So, I had to get another one. I took the proper procedures. I had to come back to American Home Shield and report it because the contractor had already submitted that they couldn't do anything for it. So, I let AHS know what they said. AHS sent me a gift certificate. I tried to get it from them but they didn't have any. So, they sent me to Lowe's. I printed it out and took it to Lowe's. It was 478 and I had to put the rest to it. And I got just a standard dishwasher. They just finished it today. We're widows, and I told some other two ladies that are widows that they could trust the people that come in and don't have to worry trying to get Tom, Dick and Harry. We liked the quality. My mother likes it, and I can trust somebody coming in.

The handle broke off of my microwave. I called in the claim and paid my deductible. Then they sent an appliance person by. He analyzed what needed to be done. I thought he was gonna replace the handle but he replaced the whole door. So that was even better because I had already replaced the handle once before. It’s complicated. When the handle broke, I called back to the appliance wholesaler that I used before and the parts had tripled. So I was glad I had American Home Shield. It saved me some money in the process. If I have an issue, I can call them for $100. As opposed to, for the microwave handle, the handle itself was 184 and then the two screws that you needed in addition to the handle were $50 a piece. When my air conditioning unit wasn't cooling, I called them and the first couple of pounds of Freon was free. Then I had to pay for the other, but I still got out unscathed.

When I need American Home Shield, it works. They give you the service and the unit is working. I changed the thing that goes under the sink because it wasn’t working. I connected the hoop to that equipment and because it was closed, the water was coming out of the dishwasher. When the technician came and realized that, the first thing that he wanted to check was that thing that will close the water from coming in. So, he broke the thing and after that, everything was fine. I'm an engineer but like 99% of the people, we don’t read the instructions. If I read the instructions, I would have known that I have to take that off and then connect the whole thing. But I'm glad the tech knew what he was doing.

Our dryer wasn't getting hot. I called on a Saturday evening and the service company, AMR, was here on a Monday at about 11:00. It took them about an hour and it was awesome. I love American Home Shield because in our third year here in our house, our air conditioning unit went out. Without the home warranty, it would have cost us about $5,000 to get it repaired. In the past when you don't know something about these appliances, you throw them away and go buy new ones. But with the home warranty, it doesn't take long for people to come out and it's a lot cheaper. I have recommended American Home Shield to other people and they have signed up with them. It's a great thing to have and we get great customer service.

We've had some issues with our AC system and that can typically be a very expensive repair. We've benefited from having AHS knowing that the cost could have been thousands of dollars. We've had a couple of different vendors for AC over the three years, so it's gone through a few people. But their contractor Stockdale did a great job. I submitted a claim on a Friday and they came out Monday for the estimate. They had to order a part so the repair took a little longer because of supply chain issues.

The hot water wasn’t lasting like it should and we figured it was the hot water heater. We called American Home Shield and told them we needed to get somebody to come and look at it. The contractor called and we scheduled, and it seemed like there was a mix-up in the scheduling. But we got it straightened out. The guy who came was awesome. He found the problem within two minutes of being there. He said that somebody had manually turned the heater knob down on the water heater. There was no way that somebody could do that manually. We came to find out that we had forgotten that the week before, we had a baby shower for my niece and one of my grandchildren were down there playing, and he turned the knob down. So, we had to pay a $100 deductible to have somebody come out and tell us to just turn the knob. But we were glad that that’s all it was. 100 bucks is 100 bucks but at least there was no harm done.

We are enjoying American Home Shield. I am a real estate agent and I had never used it before for myself but I referred it a lot to my clients. So, it's good for me to be seeing how the services work. And overall, it's been good. The start was bad because I had a dishwasher that wasn't working and AHS told me that they could have somebody out in two weeks. But I will not let them have Sears because Sears is not good. They would call me the day that they were coming and say they were pushing me out another week and a half. So, there was just some weirdness going on. It took a month to get an appointment.
I talked to our representative in this area in Minnesota and she took care of getting me a quicker treatment. That was good for me but I don't want to see my clients have to go through that. So, that concerned me. The contractor was out here four times before the dishwasher was deemed irreparable. I ended up needing to get the dishwasher replaced and I'm getting a credit. I haven't seen it yet but that experience was good. I had two companies come out, one was for the dishwasher and the other for plumbing. Champion Plumbing and Majestic, who did the dishwasher, were both excellent.
When requesting for service, somebody told me to try doing it online. That would work a lot better for me. I don't love that everybody's all over the country. It's hard. The woman I spoke to one time wanted pictures and videos of my dishwasher and she didn't understand what I wanted because it all came back wrong after the conversation. We were able to resolve it but online would be a lot better. We only recommend AHS right now. We do a lot of transactions and in this market that we're in currently, it's important that our clients have a reputable company to work with because they aren't getting inspections.

We had signed up for an annual inspection by another company and they said our air conditioning needed a bunch of work. We checked with AHS and they sent out Royal Flush who said the AC doesn't need a bunch of work. It was a very good experience and I felt very comfortable with the contractor.

The top element in the oven wasn't working. It was good with Appalachian Appliance Repair, the contractor, and they fixed it. It's been good with AHS so far.

The AC didn't work. American Home Shield told me to call the contracted company. So I called them right away and they came out the next day and fixed the problem. They did a good job.

American Home Shield assigned Hotshot for the washing machine. I called because the washing machine was banging. It was knocking violently. They came out and they said something was wrong with something underneath. So, they had to order a part. Then they came back the next day and supposedly fixed it. I used it a couple of days later and then it began leaking. So, I called them again, and said, “Now, it’s leaking.” They came back and said something was stuck and broken somewhere, and they needed to order another part. They did that and then they came back. A couple of days after that, I did some clothes and it didn't seem like anything was wrong. But then just recently, it's banging again. So, whatever they did didn't fix the problem. So, now I was about to call again.
The contractors were very professional and polite. They did what they had to do and then left and then came back and did what they had to do and then left. They were here like four times within like a week span. I'm very satisfied with AHS. They're timely and professional. It’s easy to just go online and put the service request in. I have recommended them, and if people would’ve asked me, I would say that they are awesome.

Having AHS saves money. The average contractor charges $75 just to show up to tell you what's wrong. Also, the process of putting in a claim is pretty swift. True Vine Appliance came out for a most recent claim. They were really cordial and they answered any questions that I asked.

American Home Shield is okay. Sometimes, they seem to hire low-end contractors. Other times, they seem to hire great contractors. It just depends on the time of the day. The not-so-good ones are the ones that are in it for the money. They rush from job to job. If they can't figure it out within the first 10 minutes, they leave without saying anything. So then, I'm having to call American Home Shield saying, "The guy just left. Didn't tell me anything, didn't say he was coming back." They have to go and call the contractor to find out what's going on. That can take hours to get a response.
The really good ones come in and go. They say, "I know what the problem is. I can't fix it right now. I have to order the part. I have to get in a consultant, but we will resolve this." The air conditioning people were pretty good. They did their job. They told us exactly what was wrong and said, "This is a plumbing issue." Sometimes, they also get rushed. We had a situation where the waterline drain from the AC was clogging up. This is my daughter's house. I told my daughter that more than likely, it was clogged up in the past. I called the AC guy to see if they can troubleshoot it, and the AC guy came out and said, "It's the plumbing," and then he left. We sent a plumber out, who fixed it, but it was still clogged up. So then, we had to call the AC guy out again. He said, "Oh, never mind. It was the plumbing, but it was also the air conditioner itself was clogged up." They're in a hurry to go from job to job.
But I have not had an issue where it wasn't covered. I understand that anything that's major, obviously, they won't cover. Every time I place a service for contract, I read to see what's covered and what's not. So I keep myself educated.

The heating was coming on, but it wasn't getting hot. I called AHS and they sent somebody that was closed for the weekend. I called back and they assigned Rush Heating and Cooling. The tech called that day and came out the next day. He did an excellent job. Now, I have a garage problem and AHS gave it to a guy that doesn’t do garages. I reached out and they supposedly had sent an electrician but I haven't heard from anybody. This has been going on for the second week.

Everything went like it was supposed to. We were satisfied with the experience. Looking through the different kinds of offers however, it was kind of confusing. But for the rest of it, it was mostly smooth. AHS is worth it and we've recommended it to other people.

American Home Shield is an excellent company. I have three different homes with them. When the policy expired, we went with a cheaper home warranty but ended up canceling and going back to American Home Shield. We like their service. They're easy to work with. They follow through and keep you up to date. The dishwasher was the last claim and they are fixing it. The contractors are wonderful.
