    The refrigerator in one of my rentals wasn't cooling enough. The contractor that came out communicated very well. They had to come back with parts and to get it approved by American Home Shield. But I haven't had any other complaints since the repair. With American Home Shield, I can just call them, put in a ticket and I'm assigned to a repair person right away. Then I usually speak with them within a few hours of that happening, which is awesome.

    The fan motor stopped running on the one of the air conditioners. I got online, made the claim, paid $100, and by the next day, it was fixed. It went smoothly. The tech seemed very knowledgeable.     There was no hot water. I went back and looked at the hot water heater and there was water. It wasn't leaking, but it was wet in the tray. The breaker was still on, but the water heater wasn't heating up. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a guy. He determined that the internals of it had burst and the heating element had gotten wet and shorted it out. American Home Shield ordered another water heater and the guy came back and fixed us all up. It went flawless. We had to call American Home Shield two different times. One time, we had a natural gas leak underneath the oven. That was just two or three weeks ago, which made me feel guilty about having to call them a second time on the water heater. But those guys came out and figured out what it was. I'm extremely pleased with American Home Shield's work and promptness.

    American Home Shield is fantastic. We had another warranty company before them that didn't do anything. With American Home Shield, anytime we have a problem, they're right there to fix it for us. They work to try to help the people that have an issue with something that needs to be repaired in a home. We've had them out to look at and repair our furnace. It couldn't be repaired so they replaced it. Recently, I had problems with my washing machine. They couldn't be repaired so they're replacing it. They also took care of some plumbing that we had problems with. For the washing machine, they sent somebody out who didn't even look at it. He said we had a problem with too much soap. I let American Home Shield know that it hadn't been fixed and they sent somebody else out. He took the whole thing apart, looked at it and found the problem. It depends on which person gets sent out but most of the time, we don't have any problems at all. They do their job well.

    It was really hard to schedule an AC tune-up with American Home Shield. I'm not really sure it's gonna be worth the cost. They didn't call me back for several days in the first place. Then, the first time they could schedule something was several weeks out. The date scheduled is next Monday, which is over two weeks from when it was requested initially.

    Having AHS, my budget doesn't get interrupted when something goes wrong. Also, they were very helpful with my hot water heater when it went out years ago. Most recently, the compressor on my refrigerator went out and Atomic Tech did a fantastic job of getting it repaired.     We had American Home Shield at the last home that we owned. When we sold the home, we got rid of it. So, when we bought our new home in 2019, we went back to them again because they’ve always been good with us. They’re reliable. Things don’t happen always, but when they do, it’s good to have a warranty that’ll cover things that they say they’ll cover.

    I had put a request around September last year because my AC stopped working, and the first people they sent out, which was Island Breeze, stated that I needed a whole new AC unit. So, I put another request in and paid the fee again, and they sent Mandolin out. Their guy told me that it was just the heater coil and that they had one nearby that they could replace. He was excellent. He was very knowledgeable. Overall, American Home Shield stands by their words. If it’s in the contract, they will cover it.

    My central air unit is old. I pay for people to come out and keep it clean, but it's barely kicking. It was very easy to put in a claim to American Home Shield. They responded very fast.     American Home Shield sent Royal Flush to do my AC tune-up. They were good. They explained what they were doing. Initially, it was great. They were knowledgeable but not talking around us and not trying to sell us a whole bunch of stuff we didn't need. But then, they did sell us on a couple of overflow buttons, knobs, and something for the upstairs. Then they installed them incorrectly. Now, we have a huge leak into the overflow pans, and it's leaking outside the house now.

    I contacted AHS about it four times. I talked to Royal Flush twice. When I spoke to them this morning, they said that they needed a work order. So, then I called AHS back. By the time AHS reached out to them or got me situated to have somebody come back and fix it, Royal Flush said they're no longer taking work orders. So, I've got to wait on another AC company to come out. This is the second time I've had some sort of issue with a claim. Trying to get the issue resolved is time-consuming, and I can never get ahold of a supervisor. I get told the same thing over and over again.

    Having American Home Shield, I have no worries and I can get in touch with them if a repair seems like something that my husband can't do on his own. The air was blowing from the AC but it wasn't cool. A tech from Comfort First Heating came out and he was really nice. The issue was the capacitor and we were happy that it was able to be repaired. Also, he showed us some pictures of what the unit looks like under the house and that we'd wanna consider replacing it in the short term, which we were kind of aware of.

    The techs replaced the AC motor. After almost 20 days, it went off again. Then they fixed it again within a day. I'm planning to extend AHS for my next year because earlier I used to go directly for each appliance. I opened three service requests.     The icemaker water unit stopped working. I couldn't get ice and water. I called Connie from American Home Shield and got a call back from their people who work in the Philippines, which is not what I'm used to after 12 years of working AHS. But got the thing done, and I got a call from Sears. It was a sharp lady that has been doing it for 12 years, training a gentleman who seemed sharp. And she taught me how to remove the ice compartment and clean it every two months. I had just replaced the filters a month ago. Apparently, the filter I got from RC Willey wasn't good. I went to the store. They went and did another call, came back and put the new filter in. My husband likes his ice. And I don't have to make ice cubes anymore. Dumping it out of the ice tray, putting it in a bag, very good. I recommend AHS because I always get fast service.

    My AC was down. A tech said my motherboard was not working properly. He told me, “I have a new one for you for $1,500, and we could put it in right now.” I said, “No, no, no.     My electrical panel needed to be replaced. The first company that American Home Shield assigned to the claim never came. They never called to schedule an appointment. Deltex was the second company that they had and they came out two days after. It took about an hour for them to diagnose the problem, and then the new panel wasn't available until that following Monday. So then on Monday, the tech came out and replaced the whole panel for me. He was wonderful. I like American Home Shield for the warranty that they provide for my home. But I didn't like that when I called on Tuesday to inquire or to request a new company to be sent out, the young lady at American Home Shield told me I had to wait an additional 24 to 48 hours.

    Having American Home Shield, I like how quickly an issue gets addressed. Everything's good as far as the communication and the efficiency in getting somebody out. However, the contractor has been out twice and still haven't got the problem with the AC resolved. They've replaced the part and it's still messed up. It doesn’t blow. I have two units in my house, and the one upstairs is fine. The one that's messed up is my downstairs unit. The problem with that is that downstairs unit is the big one.

    The inside unit is in the attic and the first guy that came out was determined to tell me that it was the unit that was in the closet. The next time before the other guy came out with the part, I turned off the AC upstairs and kicked on the one downstairs. Sure enough, it was the unit that's in the attic. He went up there briefly and said everything was fine. I kind of feel bad because they replaced the part on the outside but it's still not turning on so I don't know if it's something up there. They're supposed to come out on Friday which would be the third time they'd be out.

    American Home Shield follows through with everything that needs to be done. There were a couple of times that they couldn’t provide stuff, like the septic tank stuff, and they couldn't find a company so I had to find a company then they reimbursed me. They did that quickly. Other than that, it’s been good. They answer the phone well and they follow up with the company. The company calls quickly and the job gets done quickly too.

    I had on a tech that was a young short girl. She could not even reach the filters if she had to change them. I know they were supposed to change the filters but I didn't have any for one part. I told her not to worry about it. I didn't look over her shoulder so I'm assuming she tuned it up okay. But it says in the checklist that they're supposed to wash the unit outside. I don't think she did that.

    This was the house from hell when we first bought it. We had trouble with the refrigerator, the stove, and the air conditioner three or four times. We still have a little bit of problems with the refrigerator. A guy came out and worked on it before and I asked American Home Shield about these parts. They're not being made anymore so we got cracked shelves in the refrigerator. The refrigerator makes a noise sometimes too. One of the issues I had with American Home Shield was they didn’t give me a new refrigerator and a new stove.

He was very knowledgeable, did his thing and gave us information. He was good. On the other hand, I had multiple claims before, and one was for a plumbing issue.     American Home Shield is a good home warranty. I get covered on a lot of things. It'd be nice to get an earlier scheduled appointment but everybody's kind of short, so it's not a huge deal. The guy who came out was cool. He did the job. The initial issue was I didn't have an option to put on my AC on on my thermostat. He told me it was the configuration. He said it was a coding error in the thermostat and he managed to get it back on quickly. It didn’t take him that long to check my refrigerant levels and he said that my refrigerant levels for my AC unit is good enough to par. There's only one little problem. I don't know how to fix the configuration. My AC won't kick on until the house reaches 77 degrees.

    Having my American Home Shield warranty is a benefit. With me being the age I am, I can't go out and shop and do the things that I used to do for myself. I like them a lot. I only had one bad experience with them, and that was when I went about three weeks without hot water. I had to find my own plumber. They said they didn't have anyone in my area and I had a bad experience with the lady that was helping me. She kept telling them that I was rejecting the help. She was just not understanding me. I wish that I didn't have to run into this, but I know I got no control over that.

    Mr. Appliance had to come out recently. They're perfect. I love them. AHS constantly tried to fix my dryer. They waste money and their time. It was not repairable. But Mr. Appliance was good. Their guy said they have to follow a protocol and try to fix it first. He never said anything negative. He just said, “We gotta do what we're told to do.” He said, “Obviously, you're absolutely right. We can't fix it. But this is what they want us to do.” He tried everything and it still wouldn’t work. He finally said, “Hey, I'm just about to let them know it can’t be fixed ‘cause it keeps doing the same thing.” He worked with me.

    There's a company that American Home Shield uses out of Louisiana, and I had a bad experience with them when they delivered my washer. I had to ask the guy to leave the premises. He threatened me. I almost had to call the police. AHS is sending that same company back out here again and I told them about it today. They were like, “Well, if you have another bad experience with it...” I was like, “Why would he have to come back to my house?” I talked to the lady at AHS today. I was told that sometimes they have a problem getting ahold of them too. When they came out, they were in a rental truck. The tech set my washer under the carport and left it. I had to pay $180 for someone to come in and bring my washer in the house because my hands are still twisted. I couldn’t do anything. Still, overall, American Home Shield does stand up to what they say.

    American Home Shield's service has been good so far. I don't have to look for any contractor so when I call in, they find one and that's the most advantageous to me. I also know how much I'm spending in terms of the deductible so I can plan accordingly. If something goes wrong, they will take care of it. I recently had an issue with my ceiling fan. I called AHS and they sent somebody. Getting to them was difficult and I got an appointment after a few days. Once they came in, they were very professional and proficient. They couldn't fix the unit and they ended up replacing it. That was a good experience.

    I have come across a couple of bad incidents as well. AHS always sends us a thing for a free air conditioner checkup or free heating checkup before the season. That costs $75 which is fine. But if something is wrong, they open another service call and take another deductible. I strongly believe there should not be another deductible. If there is a repair cost that is not covered, customers are happy to pay. But since techs came and checked, that should be covered under that service request. Also, if I call them for any billing questions, it's a nightmare and I never get any solutions. For a duplicate charge, I called them seven times and I ended up paying them because it was not worth my time. That’s the one thing I would like AHS to improve on.

    For two weeks, American Home Shield lied to me. During the first time, they said, “Oh, I'll send an email of what you need.” Then I said, “I’m gonna stay on the phone so I’ll get the email.” But I was told that it would take 24 hours and that they would have to send it to their manager, and then their manager would approve it. I didn't like that, but I waited 24 hours. I called them back the next day. The next person that got on the phone told me, “No, he was wrong. It’s a 48-hour wait before we can get the email sent to you.” Then two weeks later, nothing came. I asked them for a receipt of every hundred dollar service that came. Their customer service is the absolute worst of any company I have ever spoken to in my life.

    American Home Shield doesn’t give me receipts for what they charge me. They don't tell me that they have been out there or leave any kind of information as to the date, the company names, the things that were fixed, the things that weren't fixed, or things that need to be fixed that you will have to pay for. No details whatsoever. I have to beg them for these for tax purposes. It is insane.

    When I call American Home Shield to get a live human being, it can take up to 45 minutes and that's a major problem. I give American Home Shield the note of what the contractor is coming out for, but when the contractor comes, they didn’t write down everything I told them. Then the tech is not allowed to do anything that's not already marked on the order. I don’t even get a copy of that order when completed. It’s a real nightmare. As soon as I finalize whatever I have to finalize, I'm canceling American Home Shield and rating them horribly all over social media.

    Anytime I had a claim with American Home Shield, they took care of it right away. When we had an issue with not getting suction in our pool, a guy came out, took a look at it, and everything seemed to be okay. He gave my husband some information on what to do moving forward before we had to call in and it was really good information that he provided. The guy was great.

    We had one issue with a contractor years ago. What he said needed to be repaired didn't necessarily need to be repaired and he put a bid in for some equipment. This was for our air conditioner. American Home Shield sent somebody else out right away who was a million times better. This second guy said, "Everything's great. This is all we need to do." He fixed the issue and it's been fine since. I got the impression the other contractor was trying to replace equipment that didn't necessarily need to be replaced based on what the other gentleman from the other AC company told us. Overall, everything's been satisfactory. American Home Shield is a little more expensive than some companies but you get what you pay for.

    I filed a claim recently with AHS. It was relatively quick and easy. My refrigerator went out. They had the service tech come out to see if it could be repaired, but it could not. They provided the process to go to their appliance portal in hopes of getting a similar refrigerator. From what was available, I didn't see any in stock that was readily available. Because my refrigerator was the only one for the home, I needed one that day. I ended up having to go to one of our local appliance stores to get a refrigerator instead. They notified me that the payment would take about 21 days, so we're still within that 21-day period. Up until this point, I've been rather pleased with the support I received thus far. With the way things are going, it seems like they are taking care of business and I appreciate that.

    The tech came out for my busted AC. He was professional. He actually texted me 50 minutes ahead of time and he told me he was on his way.     Our garage door wouldn’t open. The techs came out one day and then came out again to make the repair. It was really fast. We also did a stove and that was really fast, too. Recently, I have a double oven and the lower oven wasn't working. They came out and said they needed something and extra people.     Having American Home Shield, I don't have to look for somebody. I just call them up and they always send qualified people. Once in a while, they'll send a lowball guy, like a local guy that's not really a dealer repairman,. He comes in and says, "I don't know what's wrong with it." But then American Home Shield always sends somebody better. So that's okay. When the microwave went out, they sent a factory repairman type out and he said it had to be replaced. So a truck brought the new microwave and they sat it on the floor in the dining room. I had to call back American Home Shield and asked them who was going to put it in. That was when they sent out the next guy and he did a great job. I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and they keep raising the minimum for the call out. It used to be 45 bucks, then it went 50 and 75. Now, it's 100.

    American Home Shield seems like a good idea. However, my experience just hasn't been the best. I thought I had water leaking in my bathroom because the pipes made a noise. Apparently, it was just the pipe. When the guy came out, that's what he said. When the water runs in the sink or if they flush the toilet upstairs, it sounded like dripping inside of the wall. So, my initial call to AHS was to have them come out and check that for me. When Josh came from Water Control Plumbing, he said, "There's no issue. However, I can make sure just to ease your mind." He put a hole in the wall above the tub to show me that the pipes weren't leaking. And I said, "Okay, that's fine." So, they had another person come out the very next day in order to patch the hole. Days later, I saw a water spot on my ceiling. I called back and it was a recall.

    I was told by the person whom I spoke to on the phone, "This is just a recall since it's the same room. You won't be charged." I said, "Perfectly fine." They came out once again. There was no issue. So, I thought I was done with it. I received an email a week later saying that AHS received a request for service. I instantly called and said I didn't make that call. When I asked what was going on, they said, "We received your request for this service call." I said, "I don't know what this is about. I don't know what's going on with this. I didn't make the call. No one is authorized to make the call in my home except for me." So, they canceled that one. The last person I spoke to said it was April 29th.

    On May 1st, I got another email for the same thing, "We received your request for service." I once again did not make that request. So, I called again and said, "I thought my account was supposed to be investigated or whatever because, apparently, someone is making requests on my behalf. It was not me. I don't have a reason at this point because they told me nothing is leaking." They said someone named Mr. ** called. But there's no Mr. ** here. The only Mr. ** is my father. He lives in Missouri. So, I don't understand why.

    I called back because I saw that it was a $100 debit being taken from my account. I said, "There's no one who is supposed to come out. I called to have the thing canceled. Can you guys issue me a refund?" That was last week. They said it would take three business days for it to be refunded. I said, "Okay, fine." So, I called again today after noticing that it wasn't refunded. They said, "Sean from Water Control said he came out." I asked when. They said May 1st. So, I called to have the thing canceled. Why would he still come out and why would AHS still charge me?

    The biggest issue has been sometimes we would get assigned a contractor that doesn't respond at all. We've had that happen a couple of times. And that has been problematic, because we would get a message saying, "Oh, the contractor contacted you. And they didn't get ahold of you, so they didn't set up an appointment." But it would be false. Nobody has reached out. I've given American Home Shield feedback via the website when we get a review thing. But that has been the most challenging part with them.

    Sometimes, that has been emergency situations, like here in Florida, with the air conditioner going out. We have an elderly person here on hospice. And I've said, "Hey, you can't just assign me a contractor that won't reach out and is non-responsive." There was a company who wasn't even open, because when we tried to contact them directly, nobody picked up the phone. That's my biggest issue with them.

    AHS needs to update their list of contractors more frequently or hold them to a different standard. Because if these are folks that aren't replying or reaching out to the consumer to get the service set up, that's a problem, especially if it's something emergent, like air conditioning in Florida in the middle of the summer. That's a life-or-death situation with the heat index here. It's not like a washing machine. So, they need to be more vigilant, and certainly the communication with the contractor. Because if AHS sends me a message saying, "Your contractor has been contacted. Oh, they didn't reach you, so we canceled the order," but nobody has reached out, so they shouldn't cancel the order. That has been a cause of grief for us with them.

    The coverage is good. I appreciate when the contractors come out, the stuff that they cover. But our recent experience was annoying. We ended up having to find our own contractor to come and fix the issue and pay out of pocket. It's just getting folks that actually can come out and do the work. We're still with our contract. We don't wanna cancel it, but they can do better.

    It’s the second time I had called American Home Shield out to fix something and it worked good both times. I had the leaky faucet and a toilet that was running and needed that part replaced in the tank. I told the plumbing company in advance that I had some new carpet and I wanna make sure that the plumber wouldn't be walking across it with shoes. They said he'd already been told about that.

    Things went very well when they came. It was a simple thing for both of them. It didn't take very long. They replaced the part in the toilet.     I've had American Home Shield for eight years and they're responsive. I appreciated that. They're good about coming out repairing. We had a dryer repaired, a stove repaired, and things that kept us from having to replace them. I'm fine with that. American Home Shield swore to me that if the contractor says something needs to be replaced, then they would replace it. In the end, they don't pay for anything. I was paying American Home Shield $50, to begin with. It's now $62. I paid $125 for the service call for a tech to come out. This warranty has not paid off for itself. I had a claim for our HVAC and it's been back and forth with them. Everything that's needed to be repaired on the unit has to be covered out of pocket. We didn't even go with the company that was brought out by American Home Shield.

    My husband said, "AHS is only gonna give us X amount of dollars." They just keep wanting to repair it. When I called to cancel, the rep said, "Let me send out a different tech and give us a chance." I heard her out and agreed but it was the same thing. They said they didn't cover that. It was just frustrating. My system is old but we've maintained it. We have everything serviced and I take care of stuff. I get my dryer vents vacuumed out by a professional company every year.

    With regard to the AC, I was explaining to the rep that the reason I am coming back to them about the issue was that it's the same repair that keeps being done or it's a similar repair from an older part that's in it. It's thousands of dollars worth of Freon that I have to put in every year. I put another $2,000 into the unit. I've paid for the cost of half of the AC unit or almost the whole AC unit when I'm thinking of the cost. I'm including the furnace, too.

    That aside, the techs that came were good. They're known to be more of a, "We're here to fix it, not to replace it." That's the problem. The first technician that came out said, "You guys absolutely need to replace that. That's what I'm gonna put in the notes." I said I was fine with repairing the unit but the problem I have was that it keeps leading back to the same issue. We've had several contractors for HVAC come out and they said that with the number of things that needed to replace in here, it was just going to be the same problem over and over.

    I said to the second contractor that came in, "You're our fourth person in here, not including the people that we have regularly service it every year, like cleaning and all that. I would love to hear your feedback on what you think is wrong with the system. But I'll tell you right now, we've been told by four different companies, we have a leak and that it doesn't matter how much Freon they put in, it's still going to have a leak. We can replace the coil, we can replace all these different things. But it's basically like rebuilding the whole unit, which makes absolutely no sense." We just had our HVAC replaced today. As boring as it is, read your policy. I read mine very well and it seemed like the stuff that American Home Shield "won't cover" is to the point of, how would a consumer know that that's even a normal part that would need to be replaced? I don't understand the loopholes because pretty much nothing is covered.

    I submit claims over the internet and sometimes, it seems like it's a little harder to navigate than picking up the phone and talking to a rep. But other than that, almost immediately, I'd get an email letting me know that the request for service has been seen and that they'd have a service person contact me within the next 24 hours.     I have American Home Shield in two states and Oklahoma, and I have homes in Arizona. My service has been hot and cold. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes, I have some outstanding work orders that were filed in February, they're still not resolved. The Arizona seems to not want to approve much. So, they get back to me quick and tell me why they do not approve it. But the Oklahoma experience is they approve a lot, but getting it resolved is the issue, getting the parts or getting the replacement funds actually sent because they have to send me an email approving it, then I send in my receipts. And I am sent after a certain time over to Asia so I have Asian people answering the phone, who don't seem to understand what the company is about and it's hard to understand what they were saying, and they couldn't understand me.

    But once I fight through all of that, in Oklahoma, I'm happy with the resolution. They've been fair about supporting me with getting the appliance replaced or repaired, but it takes so long. Whereas my Arizona experience, I'm not sure what I'm getting for my monthly fee because it seems nothing is ever covered. There's a small percentage of things that they will cover, but I would go out of pocket and pay vendors. So, it's interesting. But it's the same company.

    The service of AHS has been good so far. For the things that we have had to use it for, they've been quick to respond and get people out here. Air Designs AC & Heating recently came out. The tech was really nice and on time. They called and said when he was going to be here and then gave us a 30-minute time window, to let us know when he was on his way. He checked out everything. There was a follow-up that we had to do on a repair that needed to be done that he didn't catch, but I don't know if it's something that was even included in his tune-up coverage. It so happened that it was right after he came that we had to call in for something else. But I don't think the two were related. He probably just didn't look at whatever the problem was. It was internal.

    The service request that I did the second time was online and that was really easy. The contractor that they used sent me a text and said, “We'll let you know when we’re coming.” They sent me another text to let me know and asked me to confirm if that was a good time.     When the reps delivered the item, my shutoff valve was broken, so they were unable to install it the same day. They asked me to fix it with the help of a plumber and asked me to call American Home Shield so someone can come and install it. So, I called them and they assigned a technician. I asked him to come by Thursday and he said he would check his schedule and let me know. I’m not staying in this home and I came here and waited for him. I called him and he said that he couldn’t come but he would come the next day. He told me that he would call me and let me know but he didn't do that. And he said he was not doing my install and he was going to cancel it. I immediately called American Home Shield and asked for them to open another work order for me so they could reassign that to the other technician. They said they didn't get the chance to find one for me.

    The installation is not finished yet and AHS is telling me that they are still looking for the technician to assign for my work order. It would be helpful if they can complete it.     Most of the vendors don't like American Home Shield so it's hard to get a service person out to your area. We have had to get people from Sacramento because nobody local will work with them. We live in Chico and Sacramento is an hour and a half from us. We never had bad incidents with them but there was one guy they kept sending for our electrical or refrigerator and stove. And I told them time and time again that I did not want this vendor coming. They kept telling me they didn’t have any other vendors in the area and I have to have them. I said that I didn't want this guy. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's outdated, very rude and condescending.

    It took about seven phone calls and a month and a half before AHS could send me another vendor. It was terrible. He argued with me that he knows what he's doing and that he fixed my refrigerator door. But he didn’t. It was still doing the same thing. He said he fixed it. And it's been very frustrating working with the vendors because the vendors that will use them aren’t professional or adequate. But the one thing I like with AHS is they offer free AC tune-up for the year. So that’s nice with them. We got our AC checked on and cleaned and ready for the new year.

    I had a claim for my icemaker and AAR worked with me till they got it right. With the icemaker, a big block of ice was causing the jam in it. The tech came out twice and tried to get the icemaker loose and I appreciated him coming back out. The ice hadn't defrosted overnight and they had to order a small heater and replace that in order for my ice to slow. Finally, I got ice again. He was very patient and understanding.     American Home Shield has been here for a variety of my appliances and whenever I call them, it's a simple fix and they initiate the work order. I call the contractor and they make an appointment with me, and they come out when they say they're going to and do the work they're going to do. So, I'm happy with them. I don't know what I would do without AHS. I started with my air conditioner and then, they did my washing machine. Then, they did my dryer, the dishwasher and now, the hot water heater. They also did some plumbing and some electrical work. In the last plumbing claim, my hot water heater exploded and I got a brand new one installed. I only had to pay 875 out-of-pocket to bring it up to code. The contractors that AHS sent out were excellent, professional and knew what they were doing.

    You have peace of mind when you have a home warranty, especially when there are unexpected bills. Breakdowns happen all the time. AHS has always been good with their service and reasonable with their prices. For a claim I had, I got online then I called because I wasn't sure if it went through or not. My washing machine is a little over a year old and my warranty ran out. It's just me and my wife, so it's not like we do a ton of laundry. I had AHS so I called them and they sent a guy out promptly.

    He was professional and he knew what the problem was right away. It’s just simply a filter. He took it off, cleaned it, and said, “No charge.” He noticed that I had pretty much new appliances and he explained to me how dangerous a dryer is if it's not cleaned out. He took the lint trap off and vacuumed it all out. He also helped me with a couple of other things and it cost me 50 bucks for a service repair on that. He was in and out of there. We have a two-door refrigerator. We forgot how to get the glass out to clean it. He looked it up and showed us how it was done. And it’s done.

    American Home Shield took care of whatever they needed to take care of. So, I haven’t had any problems. There was a minor glitch, but they took care of that also. It was concerning my water heater and the refund. But they bought it out. DNG Appliance Services was great. They told me the service would probably take a few days. But when they came out, they took care of everything quickly, and everything's up and running.

    My experience was horrible. A technician from A-US Air came out one day and diagnosed the issue to be my inside unit. They said what needed to be done and that it would be no cost to me. A couple of days later American Home Shield, called me and reviewed with me my out of pocket cost. They indicated all the issues that needed to be done per the agreement and what I was responsible for. I told the rep it sounded like they were revising my outside unit as well and the rep said yes. I told him that was not what the guy told me when he came and diagnosed the inside unit. The rep said, "This is what we have here. This is your cost and we can't move forward until you agree." I told him I was gonna agree to the charges because I needed my unit on.

    After doing the agreement, I was told that they were going to contact this guy, Kenny, with A-US Air so he would know that I have agreed and we could proceed. It took weeks before American Home Shield had the agreement in their possession. Every day I was calling. A-US Air said I needed to agree to the charges. I'd call American Home Shield and they'd say, "We have already told them we were going to pay our portion, and you have agreed to your portion." That went on day after day. I was making four to five calls a day between American Home Shield and A-US Air. I finally asked someone with American Home Shield if they could send me another contractor and she said they couldn't because A-US Air already came out and did the job.

    I called A-US Air and as soon as they got my name and address, they automatically transferred me to Kenny. I asked if there was anybody else that I could talk to other than Kenny because Kenny was not returning the call. I left six messages on his voicemail. That went on and on until I spoke with American Home Shield. They said they spoke with A-US Air and A-US Air was going to give me a call within 24 hours. I asked, "Ma'am, are they open on Saturday? Today is Friday. We need to know whether I'm gonna have air and when." She said, "According to our records, your service should be installed Monday, the 9th."

    Early that Monday morning, I called A-US Air. They sent me to Kenny's voicemail again. I called A-US air again. That time, they said, "If you would like to leave us a text message, we will respond." I sent a text message thinking someone would get back to me but there was no response. I called American Home Shield again. That time, I got the most helpful young lady. Her name was Shay, and she called A-US air. She asked to speak to someone, and the lady said, "Let me connect you to Kenny." Shay told her, "We don't want to talk to Kenny because the customer has left numerous messages on Kenny's machine. Kenny is not returning any calls." The lady said she'd connect Shay to Chuck. Shay waited for the connection to Chuck but didn't get a response for seven minutes.

    Shay told me the rep either disconnected or she had her on an extended hold. She said they were leaving her no choice but to file a complaint because they were not operating business the way American Home Shield expects them to operate. But before she would do that, she called one last time and spoke with somebody named Cheryl. She told Cheryl the extent of my calls and that I had been waiting right into day 15. Shay also told Cheryl they needed someone from A-US Air to call me back. If not, they would have no choice but to file a complaint. Cheryl took that information down and told Shay she would send it to someone and if we did not hear back from them, to call them back.

    Later on that afternoon, someone texted me and said, "Hi, this is Keith. I'm returning the text message." Right after he sent me the text message, he called and asked, "What can I help you with?" I said, "Can you start by reviewing the notes that's been going on for about 15 days." Then he said he could get somebody out for me on Friday. This was Tuesday. On Thursday, Chuck called me and said, "Hi, this is Chuck. I just got a message that said for me to call." I said, "Chuck, that message probably went to you on Monday. Keith called me on Tuesday and had set an appointment for me tomorrow." He said, "It doesn't matter who set the appointment as long as we are gonna get you taken care of tomorrow. Did he tell you how much you owe?" I said, "I've been told for the last 15 days I owe 2475. I'll write you guys to check. But can someone give me a detailed listing of what I'm paying 2475 for?" He said, "I can send it to you now."

    He sent it to me and as I was reviewing it, I asked what the actual bill was and if it was for my inside unit and outside unit. He said they were just doing my inside unit. I told him the man from American Home Shield said it was the inside and out. He said the rep from American Home Shield didn't know what he was talking about. They got this bid rolled up where American Home Shield was paying a portion and I was paying a portion, and they got American Home Shield thinking it was the inside and out. Yet, he was saying American Home Shield didn't know what they were talking about.

    I had a client in my office when he called me and he said, "Let me call my air conditioning man. Let me see if he's available to go out and at least give you another diagnosis." He called his air conditioning guy and asked if he could come out to my house and see if he could put some refrigerant in my unit. The guy came out and checked the inside unit. He asked, "Where's your leak? Who told you you had a leak in your unit? What did he show?" He took out the core and said, "I don't see any refrigerant stains." He was all in the unit and I told him that guy who initially came didn't do that. He said, "If he didn't do that, how did he know that the leak is here? Where is your outside unit?" I told him it was around the patio. He went and looked at the outside unit. Then he came back and said, "Ma'am, your leak is on your outside unit. There's nothing wrong with your inside unit."

    These people from A-US Air were coming in the morning to change out my inside unit and there was not an issue there. My son asked how much would the new guy charge me to fix the outside unit. He said $2,500. I got to pay $2,500 to fix the outside and $2,475 to fix the inside, but they were not gonna work together because the refrigerant is different. It was gonna be at my advantage to change some bolts, which is $5,500. I asked when could he get it done. He said he could be back the next day afternoon. I told him I would pay him $5,500 to come and fix my unit because we had no other choice. The inside had to be correlated to the outside for it to work properly. I called American Home Shield and told the lady exactly what happened. I also told her I was going to file a complaint against American Home Shield and A-US Air.

    I had the dishwasher installed and I had problems with the first people who came out to install it. They said they couldn't install it because they couldn't turn the pipe to unloose it from the hose to install the new one. American Home Shield sent out another company, Book's Appliance Repair. The tech did a great job. All he did was turn it, take one part off, put the other part in and install the dishwasher. He cleaned up behind himself and I was very pleased with him. I just had to pay $125 for them to come out and check it to see what the problem was. I’ve always had a warranty and it has very good having AHS.

    American Home Shield sent MJS for the air conditioner that was not working. It's all repaired now. The other people that were here before didn't know what they were doing and they messed it all up. They just connected some wires wrongly and then they came back. Then, when I called to repair this, AHS wouldn't honor it because it said they were gone too long. So, I had to pay AHS again and somebody came out and fixed it. The first people that AHS sent out were no good, but MJS was pretty good.

    American Home Shield is okay, but sometimes whoever they send out doesn't take time to find out the problem. I had a problem with my sink. A guy came out and saw that the faucet was leaking but said he didn't know where the water was coming from. He didn't stay here long enough to find out. It was 20 minutes at the most. I had to call a plumber to come out because it would have messed up my kitchen cabinets plus floors. The guy came out and found exactly what it was. He took the time and found out where it was coming from. I used to have American Home Shield years ago when I was in my other home. They replaced the washing machine for me. They also replaced a stove. I haven't had that problem with them. If they couldn't fix an item, they replaced it.

    The plumber came out to fix the stoppage in my pipelines going outside. He tried to snake it from the inside of my sink and from my shower. After five minutes, he said he couldn’t get it. I asked him what we needed to do in order for him to be able to get it. But he said, “I've already been paid for this service.” He then said we needed to find our clean-out. I asked him where was the clean-out normally located and he said it was in the backyard. Then he walked around the yard and he said, “Well, you don't have one, so you'll have to call somebody else to do it.” Then he left. But it was not resolved.

    I saw a water supply guy in my neighborhood and asked him if my house has a clean-out and he said it does. So I came back to my house and located the clean-out. Then I called American Home Shield and told them that the plumber came out and left not too long ago, but I've located the clean-out. I said he should come back out and try to fix my problem because I was still having the same situation. American Home Shield said that the plumber wrote in his summary that no clean-out was located and that he couldn’t fix it. So they asked him to resubmit his summary, which I assumed never happened. I had another backup that happened to my house so I had to call and pay again for another plumber to come out.

    The icemaker would make ice but it wouldn't dispense. The unit inside of the icemaker operates and turns the blades that will allow the ice to dispense and because the tray was cracked where the blades will turn, the blades would grind into the plastic. It would sometimes dispense plastic shavings in the ice. After a while, it got to the point where it didn't want to turn at all because it had gotten stuck. So the whole entire container that held the ice had to be replaced. It's working beautifully now. We have had American Home Shield for a long time and every time we call them, they give us excellent service. They get the best individuals or the best companies that they feel can handle the job. It's a wonderful company and we never have a problem with it at all.

    American Home Shield sent us a letter and said the insurance was due, and asked if we wanted to renew it. So, we called them, and we renewed to their better one because we figured it would be a better deal. It was a bit more money. This house that we bought is fairly new. It's only six years old. But stuff goes out. I highly recommend anyone that buys a house to get AHS, especially if they're buying a new one.

    American Home Shield and Victory who came out for an air conditioner problem were both great. Victory was out here fast. It was coming up on a weekend and they actually came out. It was in a day. This air conditioner had an issue last summer, and I used American Home Shield also. The contractor came out and ran some stuff through it and the tech said that the coil was going bad in it and that they have to go through procedures. So, he did whatever he did and sealed it up. It ran for the rest of the summer, and it went back out again. As it started to get warm out here again, I turned the AC back on but it wouldn't. He came back out and said the coil was giving up the ghost. So, he put in the thing to order the new coil and he said it might take a minute because of parts. It might have been a couple of days. He said that AHS decided they wouldn't put a new coil in. They would put a new unit in. So, that's what they did. The tech did a great job.

    The warranty’s been fine but I don't think the customer service has been that great in this last experience. There was lack of communication. I had an inspection come out for our air conditioning unit for the spring. The technician that came out was phenomenal. He explained a lot of things that we didn't understand. He talked about what he expected to be next steps. He didn't promise anything but was thorough and patient. I highly recommend him. He told me that one of the units went bad and couldn't be fixed.

    When I called two days later to American Home Shield, they said it was denied and that there was an invoice due for $2,500 that would have to be paid in order to get the work done. I told them I would be happy to do that if I needed to but the case was closed. I asked if somebody could send me the invoice of what was expected and they said yes, they could email it to me. I never received the email. I waited 24 hours to call back. The next person could not send me an email. They could mail it. I never received anything and to this day, I have not received anything in an email.

    I contacted the contractor to see what they could do. They said they could go back to American Home Shield and follow up. They eventually got it worked and we're going to have the air conditioning replaced, which is great. I recommend the warranty. It's nice to have it in case when I need it. But American Home Shield probably needs to find a better outlet to get customer service. I understand certain situations happen and not every agent knows every detail, but the first line of defense in their customer service seems to lack a significant amount of insight and knowledge either about the business or the client.

    When we have a claim with American Home Shield, we just go online and do it. It's easy. We had techs come out and do the free AC inspection. I'm set up for it and they called my wife 10 minutes later. That was pretty fast. Also, we put in one claim work for our dishwasher. Techs came out and they had to order a part and then did a replacement. It actually still wasn't working right but it's not been a problem. They ordered another part and we're waiting on them to get the part in. Everybody's been communicative. I get an email saying that our parts were ordered and they'll schedule to come in as soon as it comes in. American Home Shield has been super-fast and efficient. Everybody's been professional. When we did the video analysis thing for the very first time, which was interesting, that worked out fine. We're pretty happy, so far.

    We've liked American Home Shield's service so far. We just go online and do our claims, and they send it out to whoever they have that works with them. We had a claim recently on our heat and air unit that had gone out with the motor on the fan thing. The fan apparently was broken, so they had to replace that, too. The tech did a great job. She had to come back because when she got the motor and brought it to put it on, she found out the fan had come apart off of it. So, they had to order another fan but they got that the next day. So far, AHS has been great. It saved us money on repair bills.

    There were a couple of problems with the dishwasher. It needed a part that was defective. As soon as American Home Shield found out that they couldn't replace the part, they offered me a replacement and gave me a selection to choose from or to take a gift card and do it myself. That was fairly good. I would have liked for them to have given me the option to go pick one out, but I understand how it works. It's been easy to work with everyone though I'm still waiting for the replacement and it's been about four weeks.

    I had American Home Shield last year and didn't have any issues. I did it again because I needed it but now, there are issues. American Home Shield takes too long to fix stuff. Whoever they send to the house doesn't report completely what they do. Then when they send somebody else, they don't even come. I have to call American Home Shield for them to call the company to send them back. It's something that's been happening a lot.

    The first time when the contractor came to my house, we were thinking that was an issue with the septic tank. The first company that came couldn't find the issue. American Home Shield sent somebody else, and that person immediately found the issue. He corrected it, but it wasn't completely done and he didn't do the report correctly. I'm still waiting for the electrician and it was scheduled for last week. He apparently said to the company that he called me. He called me when he was outside my house. I was waiting for him the whole day. I called American Home Shield yesterday. When I call, the reps are very fast. The guy contacted the company that was assigned to my problem, and they said, "We're gonna call her today." That was yesterday. Today, nobody called me.

    I sent in a claim was for my electric range. The burners were not coming on and going off at the proper time. This is the first time I raised a claim, and they were pretty quick about responding to that. When I was not satisfied with the initial contractor, I had to do a little bit of more follow ups, but they did send another technician for a second opinion. He actually figured out what exactly was the issue and he fixed it up for us. But American Home Shield's follow up can be a little bit better. I understand that there needs to be a little bit vetting from a customer's perspective when the customer receives a complaint. But the diagnosis can be a little bit deeper, so that we can avoid the hassle and that I have to do a second follow up. It will save a lot of time on both sides.

    Every time I turned on the water, there was a funny noise under the house and if I turned on both the water and maybe the shower or flush the toilet, there was a noise that was very loud, like a rumbling noise. But it turned out to be the PVC joint or pressure valve. I did the claim online with American Home Shield and the website was very user-friendly. I have my account number so it was easy to access. They pulled up all that information and all you had to do was click on what claim you want to file. It was very workable and easy to get along with the contractor to get the nature of the problem correctly. They were good. I just need to have a little bit more follow-up because they had to come back out again but they didn’t. Somebody from the office could have said that they would get it resolved on that day or that they would be back out.

    When I first had AHS, I didn't have a really good experience because it was cold and I was waiting on someone to fix my furnace. It took forever for them to assign me someone and for someone to come out. Once they assigned me a contractor, they didn’t come right out and I had to call and explain to them that I have a medical condition and that I needed my utilities to be on. But it didn't make any difference, they still took their time. So, I wasn't happy about that and with AHS. When the techs first came out, they said the issue was not electrical. He said it's not the circuit breaker but the heat. So he had to put it back in and have a furnace person come out. So for me to get this matter taken care of, it took almost four days.

    Other than that, the preseason check up went really well. The guy was on time and I did not have to pay for the service. It was a complimentary thing. AHS assigned it to a contractor who let me know when he would come. He came within the window and contacted me and said he was in the area. He checked the furnace and the filter.

    My microwave went out so I put in a request with American Home Shield. We got assigned a contractor within 15 minutes. Everything was good from there and the microwave got fixed. I also did a service request when I was having a small issue with my stovetop. A guy came in last Tuesday. Every time I turn the unit on, there was an electrical popping. He replaced the switch in it. I hadn't used the stove until this week when I was trying to sanitize my baby's bottles. I turn the eye on and it wouldn't come on. When I moved it, turned the second eye on and moved the pot over, that first eye came on. As I was testing it, the eye would only come on if another eye was on.

    I did a quick Google search. Whenever a new switch gets installed, a lot of times, it’s very easy to bend a wire and that causes the issue. I called American Home Shield today to do a re-call because I didn't think I needed to put in a new ticket since the cause of the issue is from the repair. I was told that I had to do a completely new ticket because it was a different issue so I was a little frustrated. I went online and did it there. I already got the contractor. I didn't open a new ticket so hopefully, I don't get charged for a different issue when the issue is now because of the repair. I haven't heard anything but I've already got an appointment scheduled for them to come out next week to fix it.

    My microwave quit on me and after I called American Home Shield, the tech came out the next day and took care of it the same day. This response was good. The last time I called for service from AHS was for my air conditioner and that service took too long. So, I was pleased that it didn't take long because I depend on my microwave so much.     We've been with American Home Shield since we bought our home. And because we have a well pump, we were worried about the expense if that went out. Also, air conditioning. If something big went out, we wanted to have protection so it wasn’t a huge amount of money only from us. We'd rather pay an amount each month and have the protection.

    There was a burner on the stove that was no longer working and it wasn't repairable. There were multiple issues with it. It's a stove that's over 15 years old or less. The contractor had to leave and make phone calls. Also, I haven't been happy with the refrigerator service because it was no longer dispensing water. So, the contractor came out and supposedly repaired it but we started having water leaking out of the bottom of it on our hardwood floor, which is ruining our floor. That didn't start until after they came out to repair the water dispenser. We have never had water coming out of it before.

    The contractor was supposed to come after 3 o'clock in the afternoon. They kept coming before then. And I have no way of getting in touch with anyone to make sure, “Do not come until after 3:00. Because I'm a teacher. I'm not home till after 3:00.” There have been two service calls where they've shown up at 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock, and they were on our front porch, I'm not here, and they just left. And it looks like they submit paperwork as if they did the service call. Because from the emails I get, they look as if they said they were here, but they weren’t. So, we'll try again tomorrow for them to come between 3:00 and 5:00. And once again, I got a message that they would be here between 1:00 and 5:00. So, that’s an ongoing problem. And I am not able to solve it no matter who I call.

    If the customer could have a number to call if anything came up and needed to be changed, that would be very helpful. There's the option to do it through the website. There's a link that you can click on if you want to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If I understood how to give them the reminder, if I could reach a certain department or person who could help me with that, that would be good.

    I could not get the dishwasher to turn on and neither could the technician. He did all kinds of things. He had me go get an extension cord. He said it was working. It was getting electricity, but the electricity was not flowing through. He asked were my outlets are. He turned the outlets off then on, and the power came back on.     I went on the American Home Shield website and submitted the claim that way. I always do it if I need something fixed. It's very easy. AHS tells me who the contractor is. They send their names, number, and email. And even a picture. We know who is coming out because we have pictures. The tech came out the first day and put up a whole thing. It was more than the light. When I came home, I told my son, "Look, I know he's putting a new unit, but it's still dim.” It was very dim. My husband called my son and said, "Look, I'm going to order another one 'cause one had to go in your refrigerator and one had to go in the freezer.” So, the tech came out Thursday, went ahead and put it in. He did a great job. I have the magnet on my refrigerator because if I were to have refrigerator problems again, I would call him.

    When the contractor that American Home Shield sent out installed a toilet for me in October of last year, it wasn't level. It was rocking and they never came back to repair that. American Home Shield said that they told them it was not ordinary wear and tear that caused the toilet to rock. After I had a complaint against American Home Shield, I never got the service done that they were supposed to do.

    I contacted American Home Shield for another service to unstop the toilet. Proven Professional Construction came out and they were professional. I asked them for a quote since American Home Shield wouldn't do it and they gave me a quote of 1,600-some dollars to get it fixed. I told them they were crazy and that I wasn't paying them $1,600 to get it fixed. So I ended up calling someone that I knew from my church who was a plumber and fixed it for about 300 dollars.

I had to go through and approve an estimate with them then pay for parts that American Home Shield didn’t cover, which is about $1,800.     I had a bad whole hot water heater. It was leaking water and it had something making a whistling noise. I went online to file a claim to American Home Shield. Their website was okay. I liked it. As far as the contractors, I like them as well. They do pretty well. They do really good business. The tech who came out and looked at the water heater said he’d have to have to replace our water heater and American Home Shield replaced it.

    I just feel that a lot of things about the company like in the policy are not clearly rolled out. I also did a claim for my oven last year. It took almost nine months to a year to get an oven and, finally, they said, “Hey, we can't get one. If you buy one, we’ll reimburse you.” When I bought the oven, at first, they didn't wanna reimburse me but they eventually sent me a check. Overall, AHS has been okay.

    There was some issue with my hot water and United Air Temp diagnosed it and there was a part that was leaking. So, they replaced it and fixed it in two days. It stopped working on the weekend. I tried to contact American Home Shield so that I can get early appointment. And they came and the first day they checked something, and then they replaced a part. They came back, and the second day they fixed it. The only concern I have is that sometimes you have an emergency on the weekend and you don't get a good response on that. There should something that could be fixed on the weekend.

    I've had two claims with AHS. One of them was the water tank heater that was leaking, and the other one is the heater and the air conditioner of the house and that's not done yet. The tech that came for the water heater said that they had to replace it. They asked me for $698 because they had to do changes. They did a good job. But it was really expensive because I didn't have the money. I had to get someone to lend me the money. With the other claim, I'm having big issues. I've been calling AHS a few times. It's been three weeks and I still have no heater and air conditioner. But the tech called me this morning and said they are going to pass tomorrow. Now, I have to get the day off and I'm gonna lose another day of job, stay there in the house and wait for them to do it. But American Home Shield does a great job. The last time that we had a problem, they did it really fast. I've been telling everyone that it’s a good deal to have them.

    We had what we thought was gonna be a backup issue but the pipe seemed to have cleared themselves before the repair guy came. He was very professional, on time, knowledgeable and helped make sure that the line was clear, and that we weren't having any further issues. With American Home Shield, if you have a problem, you call them and the techs come. The DT Electric electrician showed up in the timeframe that he said he would. The breaker on our kitchen lights popped and remained out the entire time.     I have several doors with a knob lock and deadbolt. The deadbolt is a KW10, and the lock is a different type of key. The previous tech said that he rekeyed them all, but in reality, he only changed the whole lock mechanism from a KW12 to match the KW1 that matches the deadbolt. In his paperwork, he said that he rekeyed everything, but he didn't actually touch the deadbolt. He also asked my fiancée for help finding something near his van, which I found a little odd and unprofessional. I had an issue getting another tech out there to make those knobs with locks the same key as the deadbolt. Finally figured out how to get another tech out there without having to pay the $85 fee. Then he rekeyed the other deadbolt making them match which resolved the issue. That second tech did a great job. In and out in 5 or 10 minutes. He rekeyed the other deadbolt in the garage to match the front door, which worked well enough for me.

    As far as doing the claim to American Home Shield, I wasn't able to do it over the phone. I tried through the app. I had to pay another $85 for the service. When you move in, you get the free service, but any other calls after that is not. So I had to call a representative to explain to them what was going on. The next guy came out, verified the work wasn't actually done and at the same visit, finished the work. I tried contacting the company telling them the work wasn't done and not having to get American Home Shield involved and they were saying, "No. It was done." I was, "No. It wasn't. I promise you."

    The dishwasher kept stopping before the cycle was over. Eagle Eye came out the first time, tried to take care of it, and replaced something. The second time, they tried to take care of it, too. They were just here for the third time, and we're gonna have to call them back. So, it’s gonna be the fourth time. It’s actually the fifth time we've had the dishwasher serviced, but I'm not sure if American Home Shield has to replace it at this point. Sometimes, it takes a really long time to get ahold of somebody at American Home Shield. The biggest frustration probably is that you're sitting on hold and waiting for somebody.

    This year, we have had our refrigerator worked on three times, replaced our dishwasher as well as our microwave and the circuit board in our oven. We had to have the air conditioner dealt with and four times with the plumber. So the warranty was definitely worth having. It’s peace of mind. Somebody then came out the second day and the service had been good. However, we don't know yet if it's fixed because we have to wait for rain. We had to have some work done too.     I just bought this house, and the Nest thermostat was not corresponding correctly. When I needed heat on for that initial night that I spent in the house, it was extremely cold. It would not register properly because it wasn't calibrated properly for our new system. I had to call American Home Shield and a gentleman came out and calibrated everything. He also checked everything thoroughly and gave me a detailed walkthrough of how to operate the Nest thermostat. Because I had never seen one of these before.     AHS's website is easy and friendly and I don't say that about a lot of websites. Every time I submitted a claim, I always got a phone call the next day. Typically, the technician would call me and we'd talk about the problem. He would show up with the parts and they'd be in and out in 20 minutes. But I have a claim in and this is the first time I'm in waiting and in limbo. I have a little leak in my utility room roof and AHS is having a difficult time finding a contractor.     I was having problems with my wiring in my sunroom and Advent came out and determined what the problem was. It was a loose wire. They fixed it and it probably didn't take 30 minutes. It was great. Several years ago, I had a problem at Christmas time with my heater and I kept getting the runaround to get it repaired. American Home Shield would say that the vendor needed to take care of it and the vendor kept saying that it was American Home Shield. I sent a message to the president of the company, explaining what was going on. He had his secretary call and they took care of the problem pronto. I appreciated that. I have gotten Green Tree a couple of times and they're a little bit slow about taking care of the problem. I don't know if they're overstretched or what the problem is but that’s the only issue that I've had. With AHS, I like the convenience of having one number to call to take care of any problem I've got.

Some of the companies don't know what they're doing and try to rip you off. But this last person they sent was the best I've ever had.     The toilet in my daughter's room was stopped up and we couldn't correct the situation so we called American Home Shield. A guy came out and unstopped the toilet. He used that snake to do that. With regard to mannerism and professionalism, he was excellent. Everything's fine now. I have had two horrible experiences with American Home Shield in the past but they corrected that. I dropped them at one point and got back on. They have gotten rid of those terrible contractors and have provided me with better contractors. I would recommend them highly now.     We've had good luck with American Home Shield. We've had to use them several times for little things over the past almost two years and our issues have always been resolved and we've been happy with the results. We had a ceiling fan replaced upstairs. It had a bad fan motor and it was tripping the breaker. There was some miscommunication between the contractor and my husband when they came out to repair. So, there was some back and forth about repairing the fan. American Home Shield really stayed on top of it and called me. Once we figured out what the issue was, they called me every day to make sure that the contractor was in touch with me and that they were setting appointments and were getting it done. They stayed in touch every day until the day after it was completed and made sure that we were getting done with what we needed.

    We also thought we had a leak, and AHS sent someone out the next day to make sure that we didn't. There was also a spot on our ceiling and they're getting that repaired for us. Our AC wasn't cooling as it should and it needed to get a really deep clean. That was taken care of for us. I feel like our deductible has more than paid for itself. We would have been out of pocket a lot more had we not had the coverage. It is absolutely worth the $76 a month that we pay for it. I would recommend AHS to anyone. Even when we had a miscommunication about the ceiling fan replacement, they were quick to resolve the issue and to get it replaced and stayed on top of making sure that it was done. Anytime that I've had questions, they've always been answered. I feel like we have gotten more than our money's worth for it.

    The AC wasn't cooling very well. So, I thought I’d just do like a tune-up on it. I paid for the pre-season tune-up that American Home Shield offers. The tech who came was great. Apparently, we had never had our coils cleaned. So, they couldn't do the pre-season tune-up. I had to do another claim with American Home Shield to get my coils cleaned because that was why it wasn’t cooling. The AC is working fine now.     When something breaks down, AHS, most of the time, will repair it or replace it. When I submit a claim, the techs usually respond within a few hours, sometimes very quickly, within an hour. The tech that came out for the repair of my cooktop was a good guy. He tried a couple of different things, but didn't work. It was not repairable. We also had a claim for a dishwasher.     The contractor came out to fix the dryer. The thing wasn't working well because of just making a lot of noises. We thought something was wrong with it. So, I decided to call because I had the plan. I got in touch with the American Home Shield customer service. The whole thing was done online. I didn't have to talk to anybody. It's simple. Just go online, tell what's going on, request the service that I needed.

    The next day, the subcontractor called me. The day after that, they sent out someone to take a look at the dryer and was able to fix it right away. Something was stuck in it. He was able to remove it and the thing started working correctly again. He did a good job. He had to open the whole thing though to look at the issue. But as soon as he did, he fixed it. The whole thing took three days and that was it. I used it a couple of times and it was okay. American Home Shield works fast. I had a good experience with them taking care of this issue and a previous issue that I had a long time ago. They took care of the problem very quickly and easily with the company that they worked with that they sent out to the house. They've done a good job for me.

    I am beyond disappointed with American Home Shield (AHS) if I could leave 0 stars I would. I had an issue with my water heater in March and the issue was not resolved until May. Since American Home Shield uses third party contractors, they seem to have contracts with each other and take advantage of clients by coming to your home and guesstimating what the issue is without any tools, nor visible proof of what is going on, adding issues that are not there without evidence, wanting to charge more for additional services.

    Therefore, we had to contract our own plumber and upon sending receipts to the company, I was given the runaround in both English and Spanish. Upon requesting to speak with management, they ignored my call and never followed up. Somehow, they came up with a payout amount two times lower than what we paid without any evidence on how they came up with that amount and why.

    According to the California Department of Insurance § 2695.7. Standards for Prompt, Fair and Equitable Settlements. 10 CA ADC § 2695.7 BARCLAYS OFFICIAL CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS: “Every insurer shall conduct and diligently pursue a thorough, fair, and objective investigation and shall not persist in seeking information not reasonably required for or material to the resolution of a claim dispute. No insurer shall attempt to settle a claim by making a settlement offer that is unreasonably low. The Commissioner shall consider any admissible evidence offered regarding the factors in determining whether a settlement offer is unreasonably low”.

    Which is something American Home Shield did not do or followed. In addition, I never received a letter from them stating why they made that offer, their basis of coming up with that amount nor the breakdown of items that made them come up with that solution, which they have 30 days to do so and never did. Therefore, I cancelled my account and no longer want their poor services. Instead of helping, they added stress and worry.

    I have been waiting since March 17, 2022, for a contractor to be assigned to my claim for a broken hot water heater. I was charged a $100 fee on March 17, but still have not been assigned a contractor. The status shows as "pending assignment". Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer contractors willing to work with this company. The very poor English speaking customer service agents only follow a written script when you call them. They refuse to let you speak to a supervisor, and they have no authority to allow you to find your own contractor. I couldn't go without hot water so I have since contacted a plumber on my own and paid for my own repairs of the water heater. I have been paying for this home warranty since 2018 and this is unacceptable!

    The warranty typically pays. I had two hallway lights that were not working and needed to be replaced. Within three days, the techs were out. But they had to get authorization and it wasn't approved. So it’s a fix that I had to do myself. Other than that, service is good and they’re even more responsive. I appreciate that they're using a little more common sense. Before, I had to get an appointment, the repairman comes out, sees what the problem is and then I had to make another appointment. They're gonna have to order a part. Now, AHS gets specific information on what the problem is. I can even have a diagnostic call with a repairman before he comes out. I can also text him a picture of the make and model and if I have an idea of what the issue is, I can tell him that. They can try to get the part before they even come out.

    Whenever one of my appliances break down, it's easier just picking up a phone and calling American Home Shield and putting in the service request. And whenever they schedule for someone to come out, they always do a good job. The dishwasher was leaking water and the tech from Albatross Appliance came out. It was in and out. The second time he came, he was very polite and was there to do the job. He also noticed that the top of the dishwasher constantly comes off. So, he screwed it down to prevent it from coming off.

    AHS is very convenient when you live in a house. You owning a house and you don't have a landlord or someone to come in and fix your stuff, you can call somebody you trust. So, it's easier being a homeowner and I would recommend it to other people. The only thing is, from when I started American Home Shield, that it was a lower price. And I'm noticing every year that its cost is going up. So, I'm hoping that they don't continue to constantly go up as the years go by. Because it may be difficult for me to pay it. It was $40 and now, it's close to 70.

    I took advantage of the email for somebody to come out and check the air conditioner. When I solicited that information, immediately, they set me up with somebody. Because I didn't get back to them to give them a date for the email, they sent me an email saying somebody was coming out the next day. They set up an appointment but I did not confirm it. I wasn't home and they charged me for it. It has been difficult with American Home Shield. Other than the person that sold me the policy, there has been no one else that I've communicated with effectively. There was a language barrier and we did not understand each other. It frustrated me to the point where I was about to cancel the policy. I also have a bill with Climate Masters. It was the $100 deductible that they said owe them. I sent them a check but the check bounced. When I realized that it was negligent and has gone to legal, it was 400 and something dollars.

    Whitney Holding came out was for our water heater. On the website, there's a link that says, "File a claim" and I just went in and filled it in. And they asked if it was an appliance or whatever. I checked which one it was, and there's a drop-down for what the problem was and I just said it was not heating the water. It was very easy. We had gone down and lit the pilot because we had cold water. But the pilot would not stay lit. So, we had cold water again. That's when we had the contractor come out and there were some parts that had to be replaced. It's a brand-new water heater. It's only a year old. Whitney Holding put it in as well. So, the guy that came out this time said, "There's a five-year warranty on this." But what happened was he had to order the parts. So, we were without hot water for a few days.

    Whitney has done a good job whenever they have come out. 15 minutes is what it took them to do what they needed to do once they had the parts. With this last time, the first time the tech came out, he said he would be -- because they set certain times -- between 12:00 and 6:00. He did not show up and there was no phone call. So, at 25 after 7:00, that was when he called, after I contacted American Home Shield and tried to contact Whitney. The problem with them is I couldn't get ahold of them. When I call, I get an answering machine. So when they came back on Monday, they said they would come between 2:00 and 7:00. It got to 9:00 and they were not here yet. They did not come until 25 after 10:00.

    I let AHS know that I was not happy with the situation as far as the contractor not contacting us or their customer service. I also left that same message right on the contractor's line, and lo and behold, right after I did that, isn't that funny how all of a sudden they called me? The same thing happened last Friday when they called at 9:00-something when they came. They do a good job when they get here, but who wants to have somebody come into their house at 25 after 10:00. And we needed hot water too. There's not a lot AHS could do when they couldn't get ahold of the contractor either. But I made sure they are aware of the fact that maybe they need to find another contractor because we had difficulty with the customer service with them when we got the water heater as well because I couldn't get ahold of them. And I call American Home Shield and they call the same number I have. What good does that do?

    They have no control over the amount of time we have to wait because of not having parts, especially now with the parts shortage. I would hate to see one of my major appliances go out now because that's where people wait for so long. So, I'm thankful for that, that we don't have to worry about that. Just the other night, right after they left, our ice maker in our refrigerator acted funny. That's a little easier to troubleshoot because I just pulled the stuff out and looked, and the troubleshooting book told us that. So, as soon as I took care of that, the ice started making again. Sometimes, when it rains, it pours. But that's a minor issue compared to not having hot water.

    I've contacted other home warranty companies and they don't cover near as much in dollar-wise. We got a brand-new furnace several years back. It could have cost us a lot more. So, AHS comes through with what they promise generally. I'm disappointed because they came through with an offer to have the air conditioning, the pre-season thing for $75. We paid it. They charged our account but came back and said, "We don't have that available in your area." But there may be a shortage of contractors. We like American Home Shield. We've had them for several years. I've referred people to them before and we've been happy with them.

    When it rains real hard, there would be a drip in my main bathroom and 5 to 10 minutes later, another drip would come from the fan up in the ceiling. I talked to somebody about it and they said it sounded like it's an AC issue. A tech came out and said that it was not an HVAC issue but an electrical one. People came out for the electrical and they said it was an HVAC or a roof issue. A guy then came out and asked if I have a short ladder. He said he could go up and tell me exactly where it's leaking from. The issue I had with him was he had three different size ladders on the top of his van and he didn't even go out there to attempt to get one. Myers came and they said the tube wasn't inserted right.

    Also, AHS doesn't cover the roof and when the plumbing people came out, they said that they were gonna have to run the snake through the roof. I would have to pay $400 out of pocket for them to do that. I told them to not worry about it. I just let the water run and then I know where to cut it off, which is so inconvenient. But I just don't have $400 to pay out of my pocket for them to drain and stop my sink from the roof. Other than that, AHS's service is fine.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield. However, the amount of people that work through them is not very many so you don't have that many options if one’s busy. Last winter, I had to call three different repair people that were hooked up. The first one they recommended couldn't get to me and so was the second one. Finally the third one could. Recently, Frank's Appliance came out for our dryer heating element. The dryer would heat but wouldn't stay running for very long. My only issue on this claim is it took a month to get the part.

    We haven't had a ton of problems with the house, but whenever we have, AHS has been quick to respond. It's been good service, so far. We renewed for a second year. One of my favorite parts about it is that they have a network of technicians that can help, so I don't have to try to figure out who's the best plumber in my area to call. I just trust them to pick a good one. Recently, our kitchen sink was plugged completely and a plumber came and fixed that in one visit. The person that came out was kind and helpful.

    I didn't have any waterflow in one of the showers. Also, there was a big crack in my toilet so every time I flushed, a little water would seep out. The tech took care of that and did some stuff with the pipes inside the wall to get the shower fixed. Plus,I got a new toilet. Everybody was nice and professional. I appreciate everything they did.     The tech looked at the AC system on the inside and the outside and then he did a little bit of patchwork. Whoever the previous owners were for the house did a crappy job on the AC on the inside. They just duct-taped this one piece. The tech removed the duct tape and said that it was not a proper seal. He put the correct sealant tape, detected for leaks and said, "Hey, you got these leaks". He was really professional.

    Gen-Tech Appliance was really good, very professional. The repair guy came in and had his booties off at the door so as not to track any mud into my house. He went straight to the refrigerator, saw it and heard it right away. He said, “That's a bearing going out on your fan. I'm gonna order the part.” He then saw the button and the digital display that was broken in the same spot. He was just there for five minutes and said, “Yup. I gotta order all these parts and I’ll come back. I’ll get it with American Home Shield.” He was awesome. I had my own tech come out there right before that, and the guy was there for about 45 minutes. He just was terrible, telling me that the Freon was the problem. There's a big difference on the people who came to repair this and Gen-Tech.

    Right now, I'm dealing with a guy for my ceiling fan and I haven't heard back from him. I left three messages on his phone, and he has not contacted me back yet. I don't even know what's going on with my ceiling fan. I had to call American Home Shield on Monday. I talked to a guy that said they're gonna replace it, but I couldn't understand his English ‘cause he had a little accent on there. That's the biggest problem I have. I wish American Home Shield would give their clientele a number where they can contact somebody who’s in America, then I could contact somebody who speaks really good English instead of getting somebody outside of the country. I'm asking questions and trying to figure out what's going on.

    There was a contactor in my air conditioning unit that was fried out from an electrical fire. A tech from Sure Electric had to change it. He didn't even come into the house. He went to the back. He took out the circuit breaker and changed the thing. He was in and out in no time. The air conditioner guy came in and told me it was electrical. He tuned up the air conditioners, and he said that my contactor was burned. He showed it to me. Doing the claim to American Home Shield was very easy. They gave me a basic of where they're coming from, and their name, which it was very easy to look up.

    Last year, I had a refrigerator go out and the first people that I was referred to told me it would be almost a month before they could get out to check it. I called American Home Shield back, and another guy was referred out here. He came out, looked at it, and said, "Well, I have to go check and see if I have the part." I never heard from him after that. I never got anything done, so I ended up spending $2,500 for the refrigerator. I wasn't happy about that. This year, I had a problem with my dishwasher and my washing machine and it was taken care of quite quickly. The same guys did both, and they got them working for me within a couple of weeks, by the time that the parts were ordered. They're nice people and I was really impressed with them.

    I'm happy to have American Home Shield when both my washing machine and my dishwasher went out the same time. I've had this house for 17 years, and most of my stuff has been replaced once. I keep thinking, in case something does go wrong, I want to have the service. I know it has gone up $5 since it started.     A year earlier, I had a pump that failed. The tech replaced that pump and my washing machine still worked. I said to the tech, " It's doing three hours on a load of wash, and it's still wet. And it won't cycle properly. He rebooted it and cleaned it up. He said there was too much soap on the sensors. He cleaned those and it's been running fine since he was there. Also, my oven blinked out and gave me hieroglyphics. It wouldn't reset. When the tech got there, everything worked perfectly. He goes, “That's fine. I didn't see anything wrong with it. It's functioning properly." But, the main board is starting to go and I wanted it recorded that there was an issue.

    With the ice machine, the tech said, “I reset that, it should be working.” I said I threw a bag of store-bought ice in there so, I’m just using it as a dispenser. He said, "When we run out of the ice, then we’ll find out.” A week later, we ran out of ice and the machine did not restart. I called him on that and for a dryer that crapped out on me. They said, “You pay the $106, and we'll come out and look at both of them.” The tech took the dryer completely apart and he got it all cleaned out and working. He also pulled the mechanism of the ice machine and you could see where moisture had gotten up and corroded the motor. He's gonna change that out tomorrow. He's thorough, nice, and courteous. AHS is worth it, especially for new places.

    The subcontractor came out and fixed the dryer. But the tech had difficulties with the washing machine. I was disappointed with them. The tech told me certain things that needed to be done, but every time he did it, he told me he couldn't fix it. But he repaired my dryer. He also repaired my refrigerator. Other than my washing machine not getting repaired on time, that was the only gripe that I have. We got a different contractor, which was Sears, who came out and repaired the washing machine. They ordered all the parts, parts came in on time, and they replaced every part that came. Great service. I like American Home Shield's promptness and efficiency. They should keep up the great work. I'll use them as long as we have a house. I'll recommend anyone to use them.

    On the most recent claim I had with American Home Shield, they just did an air conditioning check. It went fine. The guy was really professional. He told me everything about the AC and about the temperature. He was really detailed. I had another claim on a previous time where I had initially called for a smell in my front restroom. I asked for a plumber to come out. The plumber came out and he said, “It’s the P trap. We’ll have to uproot your bathroom to get to the P trap.” I'm waiting and waiting and thinking that I was gonna get somebody to come out to fix that issue. He had then called American Shield and said, “No issue found.”

    I called American Home Shield and I told them what he told me. They were like, “Well, there’s nothing that we could do about it because he closed the account.” They said if I wanted a second opinion, I would have to pay another $100. I was like, “I'm not paying $100. I'm telling you what the man told me, but he didn't put it on paper. I still have the same issue because they never came out. And the problem was never solved.” I didn’t pay again because I didn’t think that it was right to get another person to come out to tell me something I already knew. I escalated the last call. They just kept saying it was nothing that they could really do and I didn't want to pay another $100 because of what the contractor said.

    Robert from AHS did a great job resolving a major issue I was having with reimbursement from AHS. Many other representatives from AHS failed to fix the problem and continued to place blame on the customer (me) instead of accepting responsibility for the company's actions. Their failure. However, Robert from AHS took to the bull by the horns (so to speak) and rectified this issue rather quickly. He deserves to be the employee of the year for this company.

    Original Review: May 3, 2022

    On Thursday, April 14, 2022, I contacted AHS for a service request regarding my air conditioner for my upstairs as it was not blowing cool air. It is extremely important to note that there are two air conditioner units for my four story home. When I say upstairs, I am referring to the 3rd & 4th floor of my home and downstairs refers to the main level and basement. Also, it is important to note that the air conditioner for the downstairs level was OPERABLE when I placed this request on April 14, 2022.

    Nevertheless, a company was assigned the service request on April 14, 2022. Upon their arrival and assessment, they advised that their company does not handle issues that are outside. After several phone calls placed to AHS and being uncomfortable in my hot bedroom, finally another company was assigned this service request on Monday, April 25, 2022 (11 days later). Reminder, this service request was for upstairs, NOT downstairs as it was working fine. On April 26, 2022, the company came to my home in the morning (son granted access) regarding the service request. I arrived home at approximately 5:00 PM, and attempted to turn on the upstairs air conditioner to ensure it was operable, and it was not.

    Unbeknownst to me, at 3:49 PM, AHS had sent me an email advising me to give them a call which I did not see until I attempted to turn on my air conditioner upstairs and realized it was not working. Therefore, I called AHS and was advised that the company would need over $700 to repair the wiring and AHS would not cover the cost. Later on in the evening, I decided to sleep on the main level so that I would not be uncomfortable another night upstairs in the heat. Well, I attempted to turn on the air conditioner for the main level, and it also was not working. So now, both units were INOPERABLE. Mind you the downstairs air conditioner was working fine PRIOR to TRU Tech’s arrival on April 26, 2022 (same day).

    On April 27, 2022, I placed ANOTHER service request this time for the downstairs air conditioner. A third company was assigned and arrived around 5:00 PM on the same day. This contractor ALSO advised that the wiring needed to be repaired and he required $250 for the repair. So CLEARLY, it did not take a rocket scientist to conclude that the 2cd company had messed up the wiring for downstairs. AGAIN, the downstairs was OPERABLE prior to the 2cd company's arrival. I tried to explain this to the AHS representative that was on the phone however; she advised the wiring was my fault and I had to pay the $250 as AHS would not cover. I paid the $250 to 3rd contractor as I needed at least one unit in my home to be operable.

    Needless, to say I was fed up with AHS. Since, I was getting no assistance from them, later that evening I had a licensed contractor to give me an estimate regarding my upstairs unit. During his assessment, he also mentioned that the wiring upstairs was a mess, there was a leak which is why the upstairs was not cooling, he showed me rust, etc…regarding this upstairs unit. The estimate was for $3810.00 and he completed the work on April 30, 2022. The licensed contractor took pictures, provided a detailed invoice, and gave me receipts for the work completed. Also, he confirmed what I had already concluded, that even if I had paid 2cd company the $700 for the wiring (that they messed up) it still would NOT have fixed the upstairs air conditioner as there was a leak.

    AHS is not accepting any responsibility for sending the 2nd company to my home and botching up my wiring for both upstairs and downstairs, AND 2cd company wanted to charge me over $700 and I would have still have had an inoperable system upstairs. Not only that, because of 2nd company, I had to pay $250 (to 3rd company) for their mishandling of wires for downstairs that was working fine until 2nd company arrived. I also find it disturbing, that one company that AHS sent charged $250 while other wanted to charge over $700 to fix the wiring that they messed up in the first place.

    On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, I contacted AHS to ascertain if I could get reimbursed for any of the $3810.00. The representative advised that AHS would not reimburse me anything since I used an outside contractor. This is absolutely NOT true. My neighbor had the same issue with AHS last summer. She utilized an outside contractor to repair and was reimbursed by AHS. So why am I not getting any reimbursement? ESPECIALLY, since it was AHS incompetent company they sent not only messed up the wiring but also failed to give a proper assessment.

    I have been with American Home Shield since 2015 and have noticed since 2018 a decline in the professionalism of their company. Their call centers are not “English Friendly” and if you need a follow up assistance due to contractors or continual maintenance the call center cannot help you. It’s apparent the call center is reading from a script and if your problems deviate from the script they aren’t able to help you effectively problem solve.

    In the event of an unresolved problem there isn’t a corporate number to call, or a supervisor available to speak with during a problem, and the business lacks a dedicated customer service support network. American Home Shield does not offer follow up assistance to ensure contractors are dispatched or they’ve completed the work to standard, instead they will recharge you a service call to open up a new ticket for an issue that was never fixed. Do not do business with this company.

    Yanping reported a lot of items relating faucet but the major issue is not fixed. She's saying the shower water is cold. They called many times, but it doesn't work. The guy who came out said it was not normal wear. American Home Shield didn't cover that. But it is normal wear. I cannot see them. I cannot visit them in the office. They have no office in St. Louis area that I cannot walk in and talk to. Everything has to rely on the phone.

    We've always had great luck with American Home Shield. We're users of it for years. We like the convenience. We used a competitor but that wasn’t as good so we went back. We recently had an AC claim. The technician told us what to do and gave us an estimate of what it would cost or if we could do it ourselves, we’d just have to do it ourselves. It turned out that we had to do another claim because there was a different problem. We fixed the one problem and did a different claim on the next one. When we have problems, we have to wait 30 days. That's kind of what happened this time. We had an AC problem 30 days prior to us using American Home Shield.

    When we flush the toilet upstairs, it will overflow downstairs and then it will back up in the bathtub. The repair guys came out and snaked it, which resolved the issue. No one is living in the home, it was just some things that backed up. Also, I don't know if it's because it's an older home and the things are older in the tub, we still have slow drainage. You can still see water in the faucet area just sitting there. But I like that American Home Shield tries to resolve the issues in your home. They're patient. They call back, ask for feedback and try to get whatever issue in your home resolve. And you can live comfortably knowing that they're there to support you. The rep was amazing. When she talked to me, you would think we were friends. She called me yesterday and asked how everything was going and updated me on what was going on. And there was a guy named Russell who was awesome.

    My other issue was we were trying to get some ice made from my refrigerator. Everybody's throwing the ball to the plumber. The plumber says it's the appliance. The appliance says it's the plumber. So, it's a back-and-forth issue with them with that. American Home Shield has now sent another company out and the guy said he was gonna replace the whole icemaker. After the icemaker has been replaced, we'll figure out what's going on with that.

    The washing machine was broken. I submitted a claim with AHS, a technician came out, assessed the situation, ordered some parts, and then another technician came and completed the repair. Both the techs were respectful and the washing machine is working fine. AHS has been beneficial. It saves money in getting stuff repaired.

    When the contractor came out, my house wasn't cooling off. So come to find out there was a leak outside of my unit right there. It was gonna get repaired, but it was gonna cost me almost $3,500 just to put refrigerant in my unit because the unit that I had here was using a refrigerant cooler that they're phasing out. So they were selling the refrigerant $190 a pound and Home Shield was only paying $10 on that. I've been paying Home Shield all this time for service and then when I needed it, I've still got to pay for a coolant.

    With car insurance, your car is fixed after you pay the deductible. You don't have to pay anything else. But why is it that American Home Shield couldn't have paid for the refrigerant that I needed after they fixed the leak. I'm upset about the issue and the situation. So right now, I'm kind of put out and I had thought about canceling my service. Why would I pay almost $3,500 just for refrigerant when I can get a brand new unit or they could have fixed it.

    American Home Shield's service had been great. I call one day and I get service the very next day. It's perfect. I recently had a claim with them. I'm just moving into a new house and the washing machine hose where the water goes in and comes out needed to be replaced. The plumber came in on a Saturday, he fixed it, and he left. Someone was supposed to come back and put the drywall in where he had to cut it. I haven't seen that guy yet. Overall, AHS is saving me money.

    The two plumbers that AHS had last year were beyond terrible. AHS only has one plumber for this area, Mr. Plumber. They are beyond god-awful. They're the worst of the worst. Last year, it took me eight months to get some work done for plumbing. Mr. Plumber tried to charge me to remove my toilet so they could get into the mainline to clear the drain. They admitted it would take 15 minutes and they wanted to charge me $350. When I asked them why, they said, “That’s what we charge.” Click, they hung up on me.

    I called AHS back. They said, “They shouldn’t charge you for anything. Don't pay them. We'll assign you a new contractor.” The person who said that didn't realize that AHS had nobody. After a couple of weeks, they told me, “Go get an outside contractor.” I tried twice, but AHS didn't like the price. On the second one, they said, “We're going to send over a plumbing guy to give us an overview and a comparison quote of the work that your outside contractor gave us.” Then they sent Mr. Plumber again.

    After they had already approved to do all the work, they started to do the drain cleaning. When the plumper put a snake into the drain, he took it out of the drain when he first supposedly unclogged it and he dripped it all around the house. He also, not once, followed any of the COVID restrictions. He came here with no mask, no gloves, no booties. He came in with his dirty boots and he stained the carpet.

    He then came back to do his comparison quote. He reported back to AHS that nothing was broken and that one of the faucets was covered by a manufacturer's warranty. I have no idea where he got that from, and that I abused my instant hot water dispenser, and therefore, it’s not covered. I said, “Why don’t I just cancel it?” I was going back and forth with them. I couldn’t believe these people. AHS found a company that only does drain cleaning and they came. Within five minutes, they cleared the drain. Didn’t remove the toilet, didn’t need access to anything.

    Right now, they were reassigned for my water heater for the third time and they have yet to call me for the appointment. The HVAC guy noticed that there was corrosion at the top of the water heater. I called AHS. They couldn't find anybody to do the repair. They finally found a company called Stellar Heating. He called me up and I told him what the problem was. He said, “Is it leaking?” I said, “Nope.” He said, “If it's not leaking, they'll have me come there, they'll charge you, and they won't authorize me to make the repair. It’s got the be leaking.” I said, “I understand." I canceled the appointment.

    Now, an electrician came. He fixed the switch and he was in the room and saw there was water underneath. I called AHS up. The next day, Mr. Plumber was assigned the service call. I called up and told the representative, “I don’t know why they did this. I’ll cancel this order. We’ll do a new order. Again, no Mr. Plumber.” They said okay. The next day, Mr. Plumber gets assigned the contract again.

    Through these two assignments, Mr. Plumber has never called me, not once. The third time, canceled the service call and put in a new service call. Now, they didn’t tell me that the washroom faucet, which is leaking, is not covered because it’s covered by a warranty. I said to them, “No, it’s not.” I called up the company, sent them a picture, and they said that that’s not their faucet. I sent a copy of that to American Home Shield.

    It’s not covered by a warranty unless it gives me a company that does say it's their faucet. I have no idea. But they told me that the faucet was cancelled with nobody’s name on it, and it said that it's covered by warranty. Yet, nobody has yet to be in the house since I made the service calls. They also told me the instant hot was taken off, not because of any means, it just doesn’t need service.

    Also, regarding the dispatch of AHS, it's hard to get them to understand what's going on. They have this script and they work from this script but they just don't get it. They don't communicate it well to their contractor relations department and the dispatchers. The fact that they can only email and transmit, that's where the problem is. We have nowhere above the representative to talk to. They put me over to supervisors and managers, but it’s all the same. But their roof guy, their appliance guy, their HVAC guy, and this drain cleaning guy were really nice people. They were clean, respectful, and did everything they were supposed to do.

    I deal with American Home Shield on a regular basis. I do three homes (mine and my two sons', Brett and Kenneth) with them that I go and call in then go and wait for them to come. They're usually pretty good, but when I use them so many times, I'm bound to have some bad experiences in there. At Brett's house, a garbage disposal was broken, and someone came out pretty fast. The technician was Chris. He had to replace the garbage disposal, and he was excellent. He told me to ask for him if I needed them again. On the other hand, the techs came out twice and had to come back for the toilet flushers at my house. Now, they've got it rigged up, so when my husband flushes his toilet, water sprays out. I've got to call again and have somebody come back for that.

    Another thing I have to call on, I get offshore people, and they're not always up to par. You can't talk to somebody that can understand what you're trying to tell them. Just a while ago, I called for a garbage disposal and the rep put in for a garage door. I said, “Magic City Door doesn't sound right for plumbing.” “Oh, let me go check that.” I then had to call back and the girl said, “Oh, we'll take off that fee. We won't charge you for that,” and I gotta go and check. With three homes and a life, I don’t have a lot of time to be chasing after American Home Shield. Still, I've been pretty happy with them and I would recommend them. Once in a while though, I'd like American Home Shield to do something for me and say, “Hey, here's a gift card or a credit or something.” It’d be very nice.

    American Home Shield has saved me a lot of money. I have a pool and everything is covered in it. They have replaced the pool filter, which was a surcharge on it because it was something that had to be upgraded and it cost me money. They have replaced my hot water heater and I had to pay a cost on that, but still nowhere near what I would have had to have paid if it had just been a regular service call. So, all in all, it's well worth me having the home warranty. I wish I could get the price that was quoted to me on the phone. I could still do that.

    But it seems everything that AHS does, it's always an upgrade and I get charged. I pay $85 a month and it would be 60-something a month, which I felt was a scam call because I don't give my information to anybody. Nobody gets anything from me on the phone. So, I called AHS and they said, "Oh, yeah, it was because they were doing this work." They should have given me the price. And the one thing that I was a little disappointed with with AHS was my credit card was different, which was not true. It always has been in Discover.

    Thus far, I've been okay with the service. Sears replaced my Kenmore kitchen stove. There were two of the eyes on the stovetop where a fire came out. When the service guy came, he said, "We just need to replace it." The one that I chose, fortunately, was a Whirlpool and it was no cost to me. A lot of them would have been a $500 charge that had the air cook. But I didn't want anything that I need a computer to work. It was well over a week before they delivered it. But they did it and I was very pleased with it.

    We had American Home Shield before and on a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 7. We just got a new home and we got an American Home Shield warranty with it because there are some older appliances. It was a wise decision. When we moved in, we ran our dishwasher once then the dishwasher stopped working. It wouldn't drain. We ran the microwave then it stopped heating all within a week of us moving in. We had somebody come out last Friday to take a look and they had sent their suggestions to American Home Shield, but we haven't heard back from them yet. It would be a great thing if American Home Shield would call me and say, "We need to replace it. We're gonna go ahead and take care of that for you." I've also had experiences where they try and offer us a payout and it's a fraction of what it would cost to replace something.

    The person that re-locked the locks was fine. He was on time. We were trying to get all of the locks rekeyed to one key and he did what I asked him to. The problem was the prior owners had multiple types of locks. He was only able to rekey about half of the locks because the other ones were different brands and that's not an American Home Shield problem or a his problem. The only issue I had with it was there was a particular lock I had with a heavy door and, apparently, that's not covered under the rekeying. I had to pay an extra 35 bucks.
