    A contractor came out for my AC. It took a while for them to come in and do an assessment. Then they had to file a claim with American Home Shield. I had to go through and approve an estimate with them then pay for parts that American Home Shield didn’t cover, which is about $1,800. Also, there was something that they drained out in my son's bathroom sink that left smut on the walls and floors. It splattered everywhere so I had to get that cleaned up. I’m satisfied with American Home Shield though there have been situations where things were not fixed and I would have to go back in and pay again for somebody else to come back out to look at the same issue.

    I've had two claims with AHS. One of them was the water tank heater that was leaking, and the other one is the heater and the air conditioner of the house and that's not done yet. The tech that came for the water heater said that they had to replace it. They asked me for $698 because they had to do changes. They did a good job. But it was really expensive because I didn't have the money. I had to get someone to lend me the money. With the other claim, I'm having big issues. I've been calling AHS a few times. It's been three weeks and I still have no heater and air conditioner. But the tech called me this morning and said they are going to pass tomorrow. Now, I have to get the day off and I'm gonna lose another day of job, stay there in the house and wait for them to do it. But American Home Shield does a great job. The last time that we had a problem, they did it really fast. I've been telling everyone that it’s a good deal to have them.

    There was some issue with my hot water and United Air Temp diagnosed it and there was a part that was leaking. So, they replaced it and fixed it in two days. It stopped working on the weekend. I tried to contact American Home Shield so that I can get early appointment. And they came and the first day they checked something, and then they replaced a part. They came back, and the second day they fixed it. The only concern I have is that sometimes you have an emergency on the weekend and you don't get a good response on that. There should something that could be fixed on the weekend.

    When the contractor that American Home Shield sent out installed a toilet for me in October of last year, it wasn't level. It was rocking and they never came back to repair that. American Home Shield said that they told them it was not ordinary wear and tear that caused the toilet to rock. After I had a complaint against American Home Shield, I never got the service done that they were supposed to do.

    I contacted American Home Shield for another service to unstop the toilet. Proven Professional Construction came out and they were professional. I asked them for a quote since American Home Shield wouldn't do it and they gave me a quote of 1,600-some dollars to get it fixed. I told them they were crazy and that I wasn't paying them $1,600 to get it fixed. So I ended up calling someone that I knew from my church who was a plumber and fixed it for about 300 dollars.

    There was a small leak in the vent over one of our bedroom and bathrooms. I requested service by phone, talked to a person and it was very nice. Somebody then came out the second day and the service had been good. However, we don't know yet if it's fixed because we have to wait for rain. We had to have some work done too. I had to fix the ceiling first then paint it to see if there are any more leaks.

    My heat and my air were not working and the tech got it to work. Everything's working awesome. I love having American Home Shield. I had problems with my water heater in 2021 and the tech came out and couldn't fix it and they had to replace it. AHS is very well worth my $72 a month that I pay. It is great. My daughter just bought a house and I told her about it. I said that she needs to get it.

    American Home Shield has been reliable, timely, and cost-effective. I had a free service where techs came out and checked the furnace and the AC unit. They let me know where I stand with my unit and they gave me recommendations. I have the AC unit checked every year. Previously, I had a hot water unit checked and it was just the pilot light that was out, so the techs lit that. I also had the dryer checked before I bought a new one.     When something breaks down, AHS, most of the time, will repair it or replace it. When I submit a claim, the techs usually respond within a few hours, sometimes very quickly, within an hour. The tech that came out for the repair of my cooktop was a good guy. He tried a couple of different things, but didn't work. It was not repairable. We also had a claim for a dishwasher. But it took a while for them to diagnose it and attempt to repair it.

    We like AHS a lot. We had it at our last home and continue to use it here at this house. It's been really good. They recently sent us a deal about getting the AC checked for 75 bucks. But I didn't know who they were gonna use. I was like, “I don't know if I wanna just do that when I don't know who's gonna be coming.” I wanna make sure it's a good company, but I couldn't figure out how to find that out.     I reached out to them and they booked me for an appointment to have my AC checked. The tech was very knowledgeable. He was able to answer all my questions. My major expectation was before the summer started, I should have checked my AC, how the things are, what has been installed, what is there and what is not.     I have several doors with a knob lock and deadbolt. The deadbolt is a KW10, and the lock is a different type of key. The previous tech said that he rekeyed them all, but in reality, he only changed the whole lock mechanism from a KW12 to match the KW1 that matches the deadbolt. In his paperwork, he said that he rekeyed everything, but he didn't actually touch the deadbolt. He also asked my fiancée for help finding something near his van, which I found a little odd and unprofessional. I had an issue getting another tech out there to make those knobs with locks the same key as the deadbolt. Finally figured out how to get another tech out there without having to pay the $85 fee. Then he rekeyed the other deadbolt making them match which resolved the issue. That second tech did a great job. In and out in 5 or 10 minutes. He rekeyed the other deadbolt in the garage to match the front door, which worked well enough for me.

    As far as doing the claim to American Home Shield, I wasn't able to do it over the phone. I tried through the app. I had to pay another $85 for the service. When you move in, you get the free service, but any other calls after that is not. So I had to call a representative to explain to them what was going on. The next guy came out, verified the work wasn't actually done and at the same visit, finished the work. I tried contacting the company telling them the work wasn't done and not having to get American Home Shield involved and they were saying, "No. It was done." I was, "No. It wasn't. I promise you."

    The toilet in my daughter's room was stopped up and we couldn't correct the situation so we called American Home Shield. A guy came out and unstopped the toilet. He used that snake to do that. With regard to mannerism and professionalism, he was excellent. Everything's fine now. I have had two horrible experiences with American Home Shield in the past but they corrected that. I dropped them at one point and got back on. They have gotten rid of those terrible contractors and have provided me with better contractors. I would recommend them highly now.     I just bought this house, and the Nest thermostat was not corresponding correctly. When I needed heat on for that initial night that I spent in the house, it was extremely cold. It would not register properly because it wasn't calibrated properly for our new system. I had to call American Home Shield and a gentleman came out and calibrated everything. He also checked everything thoroughly and gave me a detailed walkthrough of how to operate the Nest thermostat. Because I had never seen one of these before. The man was excellent, and I wrote something about the service company back to American Home Shield. I appreciated him very much. As a matter of fact, I would recommend him highly to everyone.

    Requesting for service was very quick and very easy. I had put in a request at 8:00 PM on a Sunday and was able to follow up and ensure that an electrician was at our place the following morning. The DT Electric electrician showed up in the timeframe that he said he would. The breaker on our kitchen lights popped and remained out the entire time. He did some testing and discussed different scenarios. He swapped out the breaker switch for us. He was very explicit, like we have 30 days where if we noticed other issues with it or if it happens again, we can go back through the portal or contact him and let him know. He was very helpful, polite, and chill. He did his job and did it well.

    This year, we have had our refrigerator worked on three times, replaced our dishwasher as well as our microwave and the circuit board in our oven. We had to have the air conditioner dealt with and four times with the plumber. So the warranty was definitely worth having. It’s peace of mind. In the most recent time that 4M Plumbing came out, the toilet overflowed and we weren't sure if it was completely clogged but they realized it was cracked. They ended up having to replace the toilet and do some plans. It was groovy. We recommend American Home Shield and we plan to renew it.

    We've had good luck with American Home Shield. We've had to use them several times for little things over the past almost two years and our issues have always been resolved and we've been happy with the results. We had a ceiling fan replaced upstairs. It had a bad fan motor and it was tripping the breaker. There was some miscommunication between the contractor and my husband when they came out to repair. So, there was some back and forth about repairing the fan. American Home Shield really stayed on top of it and called me. Once we figured out what the issue was, they called me every day to make sure that the contractor was in touch with me and that they were setting appointments and were getting it done. They stayed in touch every day until the day after it was completed and made sure that we were getting done with what we needed.

    We also thought we had a leak, and AHS sent someone out the next day to make sure that we didn't. There was also a spot on our ceiling and they're getting that repaired for us. Our AC wasn't cooling as it should and it needed to get a really deep clean. That was taken care of for us. I feel like our deductible has more than paid for itself. We would have been out of pocket a lot more had we not had the coverage. It is absolutely worth the $76 a month that we pay for it. I would recommend AHS to anyone. Even when we had a miscommunication about the ceiling fan replacement, they were quick to resolve the issue and to get it replaced and stayed on top of making sure that it was done. Anytime that I've had questions, they've always been answered. I feel like we have gotten more than our money's worth for it.

    We had what we thought was gonna be a backup issue but the pipe seemed to have cleared themselves before the repair guy came. He was very professional, on time, knowledgeable and helped make sure that the line was clear, and that we weren't having any further issues. With American Home Shield, if you have a problem, you call them and the techs come. But if you need a list of contractors or things you want for home improvements or things you want to do to your home, they could have maybe a list of people that they will recommend or general contractors that you could pick from to come and do, not necessarily repair repairs, but home improvements.

    I was having problems with my wiring in my sunroom and Advent came out and determined what the problem was. It was a loose wire. They fixed it and it probably didn't take 30 minutes. It was great. Several years ago, I had a problem at Christmas time with my heater and I kept getting the runaround to get it repaired. American Home Shield would say that the vendor needed to take care of it and the vendor kept saying that it was American Home Shield. I sent a message to the president of the company, explaining what was going on. He had his secretary call and they took care of the problem pronto. I appreciated that. I have gotten Green Tree a couple of times and they're a little bit slow about taking care of the problem. I don't know if they're overstretched or what the problem is but that’s the only issue that I've had. With AHS, I like the convenience of having one number to call to take care of any problem I've got.

    AHS's website is easy and friendly and I don't say that about a lot of websites. Every time I submitted a claim, I always got a phone call the next day. Typically, the technician would call me and we'd talk about the problem. He would show up with the parts and they'd be in and out in 20 minutes. But I have a claim in and this is the first time I'm in waiting and in limbo. I have a little leak in my utility room roof and AHS is having a difficult time finding a contractor. I finally got an email that said they found one and he would call me the next day. Other than that, as far as the electrical and appliances, AHS has been exceptional.

    The dishwasher kept stopping before the cycle was over. Eagle Eye came out the first time, tried to take care of it, and replaced something. The second time, they tried to take care of it, too. They were just here for the third time, and we're gonna have to call them back. So, it’s gonna be the fourth time. It’s actually the fifth time we've had the dishwasher serviced, but I'm not sure if American Home Shield has to replace it at this point.     I've had American Home Shield for 20 years or longer and they take care of everything. However, some of the times, I haven't been too happy with the people they've sent out. Some of the companies don't know what they're doing and try to rip you off. But this last person they sent was the best I've ever had. I had a water heater issue then I had an issue in one of my bathrooms with a toilet and a shower that was leaking. The plumber knew exactly what to do. I would recommend him highly to anybody.

    The AC wasn't cooling very well. So, I thought I’d just do like a tune-up on it. I paid for the pre-season tune-up that American Home Shield offers. The tech who came was great. Apparently, we had never had our coils cleaned. So, they couldn't do the pre-season tune-up. I had to do another claim with American Home Shield to get my coils cleaned because that was why it wasn’t cooling. The AC is working fine now. Having the warranty really saves a lot of out-of-pocket money.

    The contractor came out to fix the dryer. The thing wasn't working well because of just making a lot of noises. We thought something was wrong with it. So, I decided to call because I had the plan. I got in touch with the American Home Shield customer service. The whole thing was done online. I didn't have to talk to anybody. It's simple. Just go online, tell what's going on, request the service that I needed.

    The next day, the subcontractor called me. The day after that, they sent out someone to take a look at the dryer and was able to fix it right away. Something was stuck in it. He was able to remove it and the thing started working correctly again. He did a good job. He had to open the whole thing though to look at the issue. But as soon as he did, he fixed it. The whole thing took three days and that was it. I used it a couple of times and it was okay. American Home Shield works fast. I had a good experience with them taking care of this issue and a previous issue that I had a long time ago. They took care of the problem very quickly and easily with the company that they worked with that they sent out to the house. They've done a good job for me.

    I am beyond disappointed with American Home Shield (AHS) if I could leave 0 stars I would. I had an issue with my water heater in March and the issue was not resolved until May. Since American Home Shield uses third party contractors, they seem to have contracts with each other and take advantage of clients by coming to your home and guesstimating what the issue is without any tools, nor visible proof of what is going on, adding issues that are not there without evidence, wanting to charge more for additional services.

    Therefore, we had to contract our own plumber and upon sending receipts to the company, I was given the runaround in both English and Spanish. Upon requesting to speak with management, they ignored my call and never followed up. Somehow, they came up with a payout amount two times lower than what we paid without any evidence on how they came up with that amount and why.

    According to the California Department of Insurance § 2695.7. Standards for Prompt, Fair and Equitable Settlements. 10 CA ADC § 2695.7 BARCLAYS OFFICIAL CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS: “Every insurer shall conduct and diligently pursue a thorough, fair, and objective investigation and shall not persist in seeking information not reasonably required for or material to the resolution of a claim dispute. No insurer shall attempt to settle a claim by making a settlement offer that is unreasonably low. The Commissioner shall consider any admissible evidence offered regarding the factors in determining whether a settlement offer is unreasonably low”.

    Which is something American Home Shield did not do or followed. In addition, I never received a letter from them stating why they made that offer, their basis of coming up with that amount nor the breakdown of items that made them come up with that solution, which they have 30 days to do so and never did. Therefore, I cancelled my account and no longer want their poor services. Instead of helping, they added stress and worry.

    I purchased a home warranty from American Home Shield when I purchased my house last year. My water heater went out and they won't resolve the issue. The contractor they hired never responded to calls from me or AHS and now I've been without hot water (with children) for a week with no resolution in sight. The manager at AHS won't return my calls, they've gone silent. This is a scam, do not purchase a home warranty from AHS, you are better off paying for the work out of pocket.

    I have been waiting since March 17, 2022, for a contractor to be assigned to my claim for a broken hot water heater. I was charged a $100 fee on March 17, but still have not been assigned a contractor. The status shows as "pending assignment". Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer contractors willing to work with this company. The very poor English speaking customer service agents only follow a written script when you call them. They refuse to let you speak to a supervisor, and they have no authority to allow you to find your own contractor. I couldn't go without hot water so I have since contacted a plumber on my own and paid for my own repairs of the water heater. I have been paying for this home warranty since 2018 and this is unacceptable!

    On the most recent claim I had with American Home Shield, they just did an air conditioning check. It went fine. The guy was really professional. He told me everything about the AC and about the temperature. He was really detailed. I had another claim on a previous time where I had initially called for a smell in my front restroom. I asked for a plumber to come out. The plumber came out and he said, “It’s the P trap. We’ll have to uproot your bathroom to get to the P trap.” I'm waiting and waiting and thinking that I was gonna get somebody to come out to fix that issue. He had then called American Shield and said, “No issue found.”

    I called American Home Shield and I told them what he told me. They were like, “Well, there’s nothing that we could do about it because he closed the account.” They said if I wanted a second opinion, I would have to pay another $100. I was like, “I'm not paying $100. I'm telling you what the man told me, but he didn't put it on paper. I still have the same issue because they never came out. And the problem was never solved.” I didn’t pay again because I didn’t think that it was right to get another person to come out to tell me something I already knew. I escalated the last call. They just kept saying it was nothing that they could really do and I didn't want to pay another $100 because of what the contractor said.

    Whitney Holding came out was for our water heater. On the website, there's a link that says, "File a claim" and I just went in and filled it in. And they asked if it was an appliance or whatever. I checked which one it was, and there's a drop-down for what the problem was and I just said it was not heating the water. It was very easy. We had gone down and lit the pilot because we had cold water. But the pilot would not stay lit. So, we had cold water again. That's when we had the contractor come out and there were some parts that had to be replaced. It's a brand-new water heater. It's only a year old. Whitney Holding put it in as well. So, the guy that came out this time said, "There's a five-year warranty on this." But what happened was he had to order the parts. So, we were without hot water for a few days.

    Whitney has done a good job whenever they have come out. 15 minutes is what it took them to do what they needed to do once they had the parts. With this last time, the first time the tech came out, he said he would be -- because they set certain times -- between 12:00 and 6:00. He did not show up and there was no phone call. So, at 25 after 7:00, that was when he called, after I contacted American Home Shield and tried to contact Whitney. The problem with them is I couldn't get ahold of them. When I call, I get an answering machine. So when they came back on Monday, they said they would come between 2:00 and 7:00. It got to 9:00 and they were not here yet. They did not come until 25 after 10:00.

    I let AHS know that I was not happy with the situation as far as the contractor not contacting us or their customer service. I also left that same message right on the contractor's line, and lo and behold, right after I did that, isn't that funny how all of a sudden they called me? The same thing happened last Friday when they called at 9:00-something when they came. They do a good job when they get here, but who wants to have somebody come into their house at 25 after 10:00. And we needed hot water too. There's not a lot AHS could do when they couldn't get ahold of the contractor either. But I made sure they are aware of the fact that maybe they need to find another contractor because we had difficulty with the customer service with them when we got the water heater as well because I couldn't get ahold of them. And I call American Home Shield and they call the same number I have. What good does that do?

    They have no control over the amount of time we have to wait because of not having parts, especially now with the parts shortage. I would hate to see one of my major appliances go out now because that's where people wait for so long. So, I'm thankful for that, that we don't have to worry about that. Just the other night, right after they left, our ice maker in our refrigerator acted funny. That's a little easier to troubleshoot because I just pulled the stuff out and looked, and the troubleshooting book told us that. So, as soon as I took care of that, the ice started making again. Sometimes, when it rains, it pours. But that's a minor issue compared to not having hot water.

    I've contacted other home warranty companies and they don't cover near as much in dollar-wise. We got a brand-new furnace several years back. It could have cost us a lot more. So, AHS comes through with what they promise generally. I'm disappointed because they came through with an offer to have the air conditioning, the pre-season thing for $75. We paid it. They charged our account but came back and said, "We don't have that available in your area." But there may be a shortage of contractors. We like American Home Shield. We've had them for several years. I've referred people to them before and we've been happy with them.

    Last year, I had a refrigerator go out and the first people that I was referred to told me it would be almost a month before they could get out to check it. I called American Home Shield back, and another guy was referred out here. He came out, looked at it, and said, "Well, I have to go check and see if I have the part." I never heard from him after that. I never got anything done, so I ended up spending $2,500 for the refrigerator. I wasn't happy about that. This year, I had a problem with my dishwasher and my washing machine and it was taken care of quite quickly. The same guys did both, and they got them working for me within a couple of weeks, by the time that the parts were ordered. They're nice people and I was really impressed with them.

    I'm happy to have American Home Shield when both my washing machine and my dishwasher went out the same time. I've had this house for 17 years, and most of my stuff has been replaced once. I keep thinking, in case something does go wrong, I want to have the service. I know it has gone up $5 since it started. I never received any notice that it was going up, but it went up from 45 or 47 to 49 now. I just saw it on my credit card, and I went ahead and paid.

    Gen-Tech Appliance was really good, very professional. The repair guy came in and had his booties off at the door so as not to track any mud into my house. He went straight to the refrigerator, saw it and heard it right away. He said, “That's a bearing going out on your fan. I'm gonna order the part.” He then saw the button and the digital display that was broken in the same spot. He was just there for five minutes and said, “Yup. I gotta order all these parts and I’ll come back. I’ll get it with American Home Shield.” He was awesome. I had my own tech come out there right before that, and the guy was there for about 45 minutes. He just was terrible, telling me that the Freon was the problem. There's a big difference on the people who came to repair this and Gen-Tech.

    Right now, I'm dealing with a guy for my ceiling fan and I haven't heard back from him. I left three messages on his phone, and he has not contacted me back yet. I don't even know what's going on with my ceiling fan. I had to call American Home Shield on Monday. I talked to a guy that said they're gonna replace it, but I couldn't understand his English ‘cause he had a little accent on there. That's the biggest problem I have. I wish American Home Shield would give their clientele a number where they can contact somebody who’s in America, then I could contact somebody who speaks really good English instead of getting somebody outside of the country. I'm asking questions and trying to figure out what's going on.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield. However, the amount of people that work through them is not very many so you don't have that many options if one’s busy. Last winter, I had to call three different repair people that were hooked up. The first one they recommended couldn't get to me and so was the second one. Finally the third one could. Recently, Frank's Appliance came out for our dryer heating element. The dryer would heat but wouldn't stay running for very long. My only issue on this claim is it took a month to get the part.

    The warranty typically pays. I had two hallway lights that were not working and needed to be replaced. Within three days, the techs were out. But they had to get authorization and it wasn't approved. So it’s a fix that I had to do myself. Other than that, service is good and they’re even more responsive. I appreciate that they're using a little more common sense. Before, I had to get an appointment, the repairman comes out, sees what the problem is and then I had to make another appointment. They're gonna have to order a part. Now, AHS gets specific information on what the problem is. I can even have a diagnostic call with a repairman before he comes out. I can also text him a picture of the make and model and if I have an idea of what the issue is, I can tell him that. They can try to get the part before they even come out.

    The tech looked at the AC system on the inside and the outside and then he did a little bit of patchwork. Whoever the previous owners were for the house did a crappy job on the AC on the inside. They just duct-taped this one piece. The tech removed the duct tape and said that it was not a proper seal. He put the correct sealant tape, detected for leaks and said, "Hey, you got these leaks". He was really professional.

    There was a contactor in my air conditioning unit that was fried out from an electrical fire. A tech from Sure Electric had to change it. He didn't even come into the house. He went to the back. He took out the circuit breaker and changed the thing. He was in and out in no time. The air conditioner guy came in and told me it was electrical. He tuned up the air conditioners, and he said that my contactor was burned. He showed it to me. Doing the claim to American Home Shield was very easy. They gave me a basic of where they're coming from, and their name, which it was very easy to look up.

    The subcontractor came out and fixed the dryer. But the tech had difficulties with the washing machine. I was disappointed with them. The tech told me certain things that needed to be done, but every time he did it, he told me he couldn't fix it. But he repaired my dryer. He also repaired my refrigerator. Other than my washing machine not getting repaired on time, that was the only gripe that I have. We got a different contractor, which was Sears, who came out and repaired the washing machine. They ordered all the parts, parts came in on time, and they replaced every part that came. Great service. I like American Home Shield's promptness and efficiency. They should keep up the great work. I'll use them as long as we have a house. I'll recommend anyone to use them.

    When it rains real hard, there would be a drip in my main bathroom and 5 to 10 minutes later, another drip would come from the fan up in the ceiling. I talked to somebody about it and they said it sounded like it's an AC issue. A tech came out and said that it was not an HVAC issue but an electrical one. People came out for the electrical and they said it was an HVAC or a roof issue. A guy then came out and asked if I have a short ladder. He said he could go up and tell me exactly where it's leaking from. The issue I had with him was he had three different size ladders on the top of his van and he didn't even go out there to attempt to get one. Myers came and they said the tube wasn't inserted right.

    Also, AHS doesn't cover the roof and when the plumbing people came out, they said that they were gonna have to run the snake through the roof. I would have to pay $400 out of pocket for them to do that. I told them to not worry about it. I just let the water run and then I know where to cut it off, which is so inconvenient. But I just don't have $400 to pay out of my pocket for them to drain and stop my sink from the roof. Other than that, AHS's service is fine.

    Sears was sent by American Home Shield and they fixed my washer that was making a terrible noise and showed me what I was doing wrong on the dryer. Everything's been fine since. The tech was very cordial and friendly. I vacated the washroom because I didn't want him to feel crowded. When he was done, he put it all back together and caught up. He said, “I'm all done. Any questions?” I said, “No, sir. If you say it's done, I’m satisfied.” As far as American Home Shield, /i liked that they replied and did my service work. The people I talked to were also very friendly and polite to me. That means a lot to me when somebody takes interest in what I have to say, and then they do what they say they're going to do.

    Whenever one of my appliances break down, it's easier just picking up a phone and calling American Home Shield and putting in the service request. And whenever they schedule for someone to come out, they always do a good job. The dishwasher was leaking water and the tech from Albatross Appliance came out. It was in and out. The second time he came, he was very polite and was there to do the job. He also noticed that the top of the dishwasher constantly comes off. So, he screwed it down to prevent it from coming off.

    AHS is very convenient when you live in a house. You owning a house and you don't have a landlord or someone to come in and fix your stuff, you can call somebody you trust. So, it's easier being a homeowner and I would recommend it to other people. The only thing is, from when I started American Home Shield, that it was a lower price. And I'm noticing every year that its cost is going up. So, I'm hoping that they don't continue to constantly go up as the years go by. Because it may be difficult for me to pay it. It was $40 and now, it's close to 70.

    There was a backup in the basement and in the garage and since the contractor has been out, everything’s good. They noted what the problem was and said what part was needed to take care of the problem. They were upfront, very friendly and knowledgeable.     A year earlier, I had a pump that failed. The tech replaced that pump and my washing machine still worked. I said to the tech, " It's doing three hours on a load of wash, and it's still wet. And it won't cycle properly. He rebooted it and cleaned it up. He said there was too much soap on the sensors. He cleaned those and it's been running fine since he was there. Also, my oven blinked out and gave me hieroglyphics. It wouldn't reset. When the tech got there, everything worked perfectly. He goes, “That's fine. I didn't see anything wrong with it. It's functioning properly." But, the main board is starting to go and I wanted it recorded that there was an issue.

    With the ice machine, the tech said, “I reset that, it should be working.” I said I threw a bag of store-bought ice in there so, I’m just using it as a dispenser. He said, "When we run out of the ice, then we’ll find out.” A week later, we ran out of ice and the machine did not restart. I called him on that and for a dryer that crapped out on me. They said, “You pay the $106, and we'll come out and look at both of them.” The tech took the dryer completely apart and he got it all cleaned out and working. He also pulled the mechanism of the ice machine and you could see where moisture had gotten up and corroded the motor. He's gonna change that out tomorrow. He's thorough, nice, and courteous. AHS is worth it, especially for new places.

    I took advantage of the email for somebody to come out and check the air conditioner. When I solicited that information, immediately, they set me up with somebody. Because I didn't get back to them to give them a date for the email, they sent me an email saying somebody was coming out the next day. They set up an appointment but I did not confirm it. I wasn't home and they charged me for it. It has been difficult with American Home Shield. Other than the person that sold me the policy, there has been no one else that I've communicated with effectively. There was a language barrier and we did not understand each other. It frustrated me to the point where I was about to cancel the policy. I also have a bill with Climate Masters. It was the $100 deductible that they said owe them. I sent them a check but the check bounced. When I realized that it was negligent and has gone to legal, it was 400 and something dollars.

Many other representatives from AHS failed to fix the problem and continued to place blame on the customer (me) instead of accepting responsibility for the company's actions. Their failure. However, Robert from AHS took to the bull by the horns (so to speak) and rectified this issue rather quickly. He deserves to be the employee of the year for this company.

    On Thursday, April 14, 2022, I contacted AHS for a service request regarding my air conditioner for my upstairs as it was not blowing cool air. It is extremely important to note that there are two air conditioner units for my four story home. When I say upstairs, I am referring to the 3rd & 4th floor of my home and downstairs refers to the main level and basement. Also, it is important to note that the air conditioner for the downstairs level was OPERABLE when I placed this request on April 14, 2022.

    Nevertheless, a company was assigned the service request on April 14, 2022. Upon their arrival and assessment, they advised that their company does not handle issues that are outside. After several phone calls placed to AHS and being uncomfortable in my hot bedroom, finally another company was assigned this service request on Monday, April 25, 2022 (11 days later). Reminder, this service request was for upstairs, NOT downstairs as it was working fine. On April 26, 2022, the company came to my home in the morning (son granted access) regarding the service request. I arrived home at approximately 5:00 PM, and attempted to turn on the upstairs air conditioner to ensure it was operable, and it was not.

    Unbeknownst to me, at 3:49 PM, AHS had sent me an email advising me to give them a call which I did not see until I attempted to turn on my air conditioner upstairs and realized it was not working. Therefore, I called AHS and was advised that the company would need over $700 to repair the wiring and AHS would not cover the cost. Later on in the evening, I decided to sleep on the main level so that I would not be uncomfortable another night upstairs in the heat. Well, I attempted to turn on the air conditioner for the main level, and it also was not working. So now, both units were INOPERABLE. Mind you the downstairs air conditioner was working fine PRIOR to TRU Tech’s arrival on April 26, 2022 (same day).

    On April 27, 2022, I placed ANOTHER service request this time for the downstairs air conditioner. A third company was assigned and arrived around 5:00 PM on the same day. This contractor ALSO advised that the wiring needed to be repaired and he required $250 for the repair. So CLEARLY, it did not take a rocket scientist to conclude that the 2cd company had messed up the wiring for downstairs. AGAIN, the downstairs was OPERABLE prior to the 2cd company's arrival. I tried to explain this to the AHS representative that was on the phone however; she advised the wiring was my fault and I had to pay the $250 as AHS would not cover. I paid the $250 to 3rd contractor as I needed at least one unit in my home to be operable.

    Needless, to say I was fed up with AHS. Since, I was getting no assistance from them, later that evening I had a licensed contractor to give me an estimate regarding my upstairs unit. During his assessment, he also mentioned that the wiring upstairs was a mess, there was a leak which is why the upstairs was not cooling, he showed me rust, etc…regarding this upstairs unit. The estimate was for $3810.00 and he completed the work on April 30, 2022. The licensed contractor took pictures, provided a detailed invoice, and gave me receipts for the work completed. Also, he confirmed what I had already concluded, that even if I had paid 2cd company the $700 for the wiring (that they messed up) it still would NOT have fixed the upstairs air conditioner as there was a leak.

    AHS is not accepting any responsibility for sending the 2nd company to my home and botching up my wiring for both upstairs and downstairs, AND 2cd company wanted to charge me over $700 and I would have still have had an inoperable system upstairs. Not only that, because of 2nd company, I had to pay $250 (to 3rd company) for their mishandling of wires for downstairs that was working fine until 2nd company arrived. I also find it disturbing, that one company that AHS sent charged $250 while other wanted to charge over $700 to fix the wiring that they messed up in the first place.

    On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, I contacted AHS to ascertain if I could get reimbursed for any of the $3810.00. The representative advised that AHS would not reimburse me anything since I used an outside contractor. This is absolutely NOT true. My neighbor had the same issue with AHS last summer. She utilized an outside contractor to repair and was reimbursed by AHS. So why am I not getting any reimbursement? ESPECIALLY, since it was AHS incompetent company they sent not only messed up the wiring but also failed to give a proper assessment.

    I have been with American Home Shield since 2015 and have noticed since 2018 a decline in the professionalism of their company. Their call centers are not “English Friendly” and if you need a follow up assistance due to contractors or continual maintenance the call center cannot help you. It’s apparent the call center is reading from a script and if your problems deviate from the script they aren’t able to help you effectively problem solve.

    In the event of an unresolved problem there isn’t a corporate number to call, or a supervisor available to speak with during a problem, and the business lacks a dedicated customer service support network. American Home Shield does not offer follow up assistance to ensure contractors are dispatched or they’ve completed the work to standard, instead they will recharge you a service call to open up a new ticket for an issue that was never fixed. Do not do business with this company.

    When I called to get the AC serviced for the summer, the tech serviced it and he came back in and said that there was a leak that was leaking out my Freon. I told him that I have a home warranty and I want to go through them. I didn't wanna go through the person who put the unit in. So, the techs came and looked at it. They checked with American Home Shield and said that because of environmental issues and the laws that had passed, I only had a certain limit for the Freon and I was gonna have to pay an additional $720 to get it done. I could have bought an extra policy to cover that but I never got anything about that. So, I'm ticked off because that's a lot of money. AHS should keep people notified and make sure they're notified. They should not send just one letter in the mail that could get lost or accidentally pitched. If something is big as that, you need to know. But the providers were very good and I was pleased with AHS.

    When the contractor came out, my house wasn't cooling off. So come to find out there was a leak outside of my unit right there. It was gonna get repaired, but it was gonna cost me almost $3,500 just to put refrigerant in my unit because the unit that I had here was using a refrigerant cooler that they're phasing out. So they were selling the refrigerant $190 a pound and Home Shield was only paying $10 on that. I've been paying Home Shield all this time for service and then when I needed it, I've still got to pay for a coolant.

    With car insurance, your car is fixed after you pay the deductible. You don't have to pay anything else. But why is it that American Home Shield couldn't have paid for the refrigerant that I needed after they fixed the leak. I'm upset about the issue and the situation. So right now, I'm kind of put out and I had thought about canceling my service. Why would I pay almost $3,500 just for refrigerant when I can get a brand new unit or they could have fixed it.

    My dishwasher broke. They were able to fix it quickly. That was definitely a plus. However, I had my AC issue. My AC wasn’t working properly. One of the technicians came out from Express AC & Heating and gave me a quote to replace my evaporator for $3,000 and that's out of my price range when I'm paying a certain amount of money per month for American Home Shield. I had to get another second opinion from a family friend who does AC work. They said, “That was a bunch of baloney. They tried to sell you on something they shouldn't have.” They came out in August. I let it be for a few months because I had a baby around then. I didn’t really fool with it. Then, it started heating up again. I got a little fed up, and that was when I reached out to my family friend. Outlaw’s Heating came and checked on it as well.

    Outlaw’s did a pretty solid job. Their customer service was good. They did not notice anything wrong with my AC. They had a leak detector, and they did the exact same thing the other technicians did. But they couldn’t find the issue. It baffled me a little bit. They had a different opinion from the other technician. They checked on everything, filled up my AC with some Freon and it’s working fine now.

    I had a leak under the main master bathroom sink and then I had a leaking shower as well. The drain caused a leak in the ceiling in the dining area and then the shower was leaking when you turned it off. Between me and A & B, it took a couple of days for them to come out because of scheduling. Their availability and my availability had a little conflict with a day or two. But other than that, it was pretty much almost immediate. I've dealt with them before, so I call them for all my plumbing needs. Once I get someone good, that's the one I want to stick with. I'll get the little report going on so they're definitely excellent.

    A & B had to order the part under the sink and we had to wait for the party to come in. Once the part came in, they came back out and put it in place. Then they fixed the caulking in the shower that was causing a leak in the ceiling. They did that at the same time. Then they had to order a part for the shower. Once that part came in, they came out and put it on. A & B is excellent. I swear by them.

    Whenever I call and talk to American Home Shield, they say what I can have and what I can't have based on my policy. They make sure I'm totally aware of what's covered and not covered. So they are very informative. They also make sure I have a clear understanding of how to move forward. I'm very comfortable and happy with them.

    My garage stopped opening. So I reached out to American Home Shield and then the contractor came and replaced my motor. The claims process is really easy for the most part. But the wait time getting the service out is long. Every time I do have service, the contractor will come out and they'll say, “Okay, we'll come back in two, three weeks.” During those two or three weeks, I'll get a call saying, “Hey, we can't find the part. We have to completely replace it,” which makes it longer.

    When my fridge stopped working, I had Sears come out and look at it. They said there was ice buildup and they should be able to fix it. When they came out, they also scheduled my next appointment. It was three weeks out. But a week and a half later, they messaged me and said, “Hey, we can't find the part. You have to go pick out a new fridge.” We were given an option to pick a new fridge. But it sucked because there was no Samsung. We’re a Samsung family. But there was only Whirlpool available, or we'd have to pay thousands of dollars and we didn't want to do that. So we were stuck with very limited amount of products we could pick. We picked one and that took an extra two and a half weeks to even get the new fridge in and installed. But overall, we like the price we pay per month to American Home Shield. We do get a lot in our services, which is a huge bonus.

    When we flush the toilet upstairs, it will overflow downstairs and then it will back up in the bathtub. The repair guys came out and snaked it, which resolved the issue. No one is living in the home, it was just some things that backed up. Also, I don't know if it's because it's an older home and the things are older in the tub, we still have slow drainage. You can still see water in the faucet area just sitting there. But I like that American Home Shield tries to resolve the issues in your home. They're patient. They call back, ask for feedback and try to get whatever issue in your home resolve. And you can live comfortably knowing that they're there to support you. The rep was amazing. When she talked to me, you would think we were friends. She called me yesterday and asked how everything was going and updated me on what was going on. And there was a guy named Russell who was awesome.

    My other issue was we were trying to get some ice made from my refrigerator. Everybody's throwing the ball to the plumber. The plumber says it's the appliance. The appliance says it's the plumber. So, it's a back-and-forth issue with them with that. American Home Shield has now sent another company out and the guy said he was gonna replace the whole icemaker. After the icemaker has been replaced, we'll figure out what's going on with that.

    I deal with American Home Shield on a regular basis. I do three homes (mine and my two sons', Brett and Kenneth) with them that I go and call in then go and wait for them to come. They're usually pretty good, but when I use them so many times, I'm bound to have some bad experiences in there. At Brett's house, a garbage disposal was broken, and someone came out pretty fast. The technician was Chris. He had to replace the garbage disposal, and he was excellent. He told me to ask for him if I needed them again. On the other hand, the techs came out twice and had to come back for the toilet flushers at my house. Now, they've got it rigged up, so when my husband flushes his toilet, water sprays out. I've got to call again and have somebody come back for that.

    Another thing I have to call on, I get offshore people, and they're not always up to par. You can't talk to somebody that can understand what you're trying to tell them. Just a while ago, I called for a garbage disposal and the rep put in for a garage door. I said, “Magic City Door doesn't sound right for plumbing.” “Oh, let me go check that.” I then had to call back and the girl said, “Oh, we'll take off that fee. We won't charge you for that,” and I gotta go and check. With three homes and a life, I don’t have a lot of time to be chasing after American Home Shield. Still, I've been pretty happy with them and I would recommend them. Once in a while though, I'd like American Home Shield to do something for me and say, “Hey, here's a gift card or a credit or something.” It’d be very nice.

    American Home Shield has saved me a lot of money. I have a pool and everything is covered in it. They have replaced the pool filter, which was a surcharge on it because it was something that had to be upgraded and it cost me money. They have replaced my hot water heater and I had to pay a cost on that, but still nowhere near what I would have had to have paid if it had just been a regular service call. So, all in all, it's well worth me having the home warranty. I wish I could get the price that was quoted to me on the phone. I could still do that.

    But it seems everything that AHS does, it's always an upgrade and I get charged. I pay $85 a month and it would be 60-something a month, which I felt was a scam call because I don't give my information to anybody. Nobody gets anything from me on the phone. So, I called AHS and they said, "Oh, yeah, it was because they were doing this work." They should have given me the price. And the one thing that I was a little disappointed with with AHS was my credit card was different, which was not true. It always has been in Discover.

    Thus far, I've been okay with the service. Sears replaced my Kenmore kitchen stove. There were two of the eyes on the stovetop where a fire came out. When the service guy came, he said, "We just need to replace it." The one that I chose, fortunately, was a Whirlpool and it was no cost to me. A lot of them would have been a $500 charge that had the air cook. But I didn't want anything that I need a computer to work. It was well over a week before they delivered it. But they did it and I was very pleased with it.

    Something was wrong with the dryer. I put in a claim to American Home Shield via the internet. The website was pretty user-friendly. 7H came and they ordered the part in one day, but it took about two weeks to come in.

    Yanping reported a lot of items relating faucet but the major issue is not fixed. She's saying the shower water is cold. They called many times, but it doesn't work. The guy who came out said it was not normal wear. American Home Shield didn't cover that. But it is normal wear. I cannot see them. I cannot visit them in the office. They have no office in St. Louis area that I cannot walk in and talk to. Everything has to rely on the phone.

    We've always had great luck with American Home Shield. We're users of it for years. We like the convenience. We used a competitor but that wasn’t as good so we went back. We recently had an AC claim. The technician told us what to do and gave us an estimate of what it would cost or if we could do it ourselves, we’d just have to do it ourselves. It turned out that we had to do another claim because there was a different problem. We fixed the one problem and did a different claim on the next one. When we have problems, we have to wait 30 days. That's kind of what happened this time. We had an AC problem 30 days prior to us using American Home Shield.

    When I initially signed up with American Home Shield, I had a big problem with them. They told me that I would be able to have my furnace checked. That was one of the big reasons why I even signed on with them. But as soon as your package starts, you have to wait one month. I waited a month but when I called in to have that done, they said I couldn't have that done since it was out of the window. I was contemplating on canceling because I felt I was lied to in the beginning to even start off my policy with American Home Shield. I didn't like the way it was handled at all. It ended up having to do the whole process all over again with finding another company and waiting a month for it to be started. But the gentleman that came out recently was very professional. He checked to see if my AC unit was working properly and if my coils were clean. He gave me information about what to check for and keeping the unit outside cleaned off and free from the vines and tree branches.

    Every time we've needed some kind of service, they've been really quick and professional about it. When I call, their turnaround time’s really fast. And they communicate with me on everything that's going on. And contractors they’ve sent, they've been good too. The most recent claim was for an air conditioner that wasn't cooling right. I took the offer on their website for a $75 AC tune-up and the tech said we had a leak and we were low on Freon. AHS sent a contractor to evaluate the AC and ended up replacing our unit. I was out of pocket $400 plus some portion that wasn't covered, plus two $5 copays. But I have no complaint about that.

    But I was still having problems just as of yesterday. They replaced the unit on the 26th of April and I'm leaking Freon still. From what I heard from the contractor, they're gonna cover my outside unit and my Freon lines at no cost to me. So, it doesn't get much better than that.

    We had American Home Shield before and on a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 7. We just got a new home and we got an American Home Shield warranty with it because there are some older appliances. It was a wise decision. When we moved in, we ran our dishwasher once then the dishwasher stopped working. It wouldn't drain. We ran the microwave then it stopped heating all within a week of us moving in. We had somebody come out last Friday to take a look and they had sent their suggestions to American Home Shield, but we haven't heard back from them yet. It would be a great thing if American Home Shield would call me and say, "We need to replace it. We're gonna go ahead and take care of that for you." I've also had experiences where they try and offer us a payout and it's a fraction of what it would cost to replace something.

    The person that re-locked the locks was fine. He was on time. We were trying to get all of the locks rekeyed to one key and he did what I asked him to. The problem was the prior owners had multiple types of locks. He was only able to rekey about half of the locks because the other ones were different brands and that's not an American Home Shield problem or a his problem. The only issue I had with it was there was a particular lock I had with a heavy door and, apparently, that's not covered under the rekeying. I had to pay an extra 35 bucks.

    The very first time someone came out, they had said that the fans were kind of fried. The tech said, "So, they're no good anymore. So, I'm gonna submit the claim to the insurance, and then I'll get back to you." That took a while. So, I was calling and calling, and finally, they did it and they did a good job. So, I'm happy with what the turnout was. The people from Energy Control were professional and very nice. The only issue with that was the waiting for them to be out here. The services that I had requested were all unfinished and that was my frustration.

    Energy Control wouldn't come out for whatever reason. American Home Shield really didn't tell me exactly why they wouldn't come out. But I'm assuming because I'm way out like 40 miles from town. I live in a very rural area. They never mentioned why they wouldn't come out. Our electric water heater's switch is kind of weird. So, I wanted an electrician to come out and see it. We're still waiting for that, and that was supposed to be Morongo Basin.

    The two plumbers that AHS had last year were beyond terrible. AHS only has one plumber for this area, Mr. Plumber. They are beyond god-awful. They're the worst of the worst. Last year, it took me eight months to get some work done for plumbing. Mr. Plumber tried to charge me to remove my toilet so they could get into the mainline to clear the drain. They admitted it would take 15 minutes and they wanted to charge me $350. When I asked them why, they said, “That’s what we charge.” Click, they hung up on me.

    I called AHS back. They said, “They shouldn’t charge you for anything. Don't pay them. We'll assign you a new contractor.” The person who said that didn't realize that AHS had nobody. After a couple of weeks, they told me, “Go get an outside contractor.” I tried twice, but AHS didn't like the price. On the second one, they said, “We're going to send over a plumbing guy to give us an overview and a comparison quote of the work that your outside contractor gave us.” Then they sent Mr. Plumber again.

    After they had already approved to do all the work, they started to do the drain cleaning. When the plumper put a snake into the drain, he took it out of the drain when he first supposedly unclogged it and he dripped it all around the house. He also, not once, followed any of the COVID restrictions. He came here with no mask, no gloves, no booties. He came in with his dirty boots and he stained the carpet.

    He then came back to do his comparison quote. He reported back to AHS that nothing was broken and that one of the faucets was covered by a manufacturer's warranty. I have no idea where he got that from, and that I abused my instant hot water dispenser, and therefore, it’s not covered. I said, “Why don’t I just cancel it?” I was going back and forth with them. I couldn’t believe these people. AHS found a company that only does drain cleaning and they came. Within five minutes, they cleared the drain. Didn’t remove the toilet, didn’t need access to anything.

    Right now, they were reassigned for my water heater for the third time and they have yet to call me for the appointment. The HVAC guy noticed that there was corrosion at the top of the water heater. I called AHS. They couldn't find anybody to do the repair. They finally found a company called Stellar Heating. He called me up and I told him what the problem was. He said, “Is it leaking?” I said, “Nope.” He said, “If it's not leaking, they'll have me come there, they'll charge you, and they won't authorize me to make the repair. It’s got the be leaking.” I said, “I understand." I canceled the appointment.

    Now, an electrician came. He fixed the switch and he was in the room and saw there was water underneath. I called AHS up. The next day, Mr. Plumber was assigned the service call. I called up and told the representative, “I don’t know why they did this. I’ll cancel this order. We’ll do a new order. Again, no Mr. Plumber.” They said okay. The next day, Mr. Plumber gets assigned the contract again.

    Through these two assignments, Mr. Plumber has never called me, not once. The third time, canceled the service call and put in a new service call. Now, they didn’t tell me that the washroom faucet, which is leaking, is not covered because it’s covered by a warranty. I said to them, “No, it’s not.” I called up the company, sent them a picture, and they said that that’s not their faucet. I sent a copy of that to American Home Shield.

    It’s not covered by a warranty unless it gives me a company that does say it's their faucet. I have no idea. But they told me that the faucet was cancelled with nobody’s name on it, and it said that it's covered by warranty. Yet, nobody has yet to be in the house since I made the service calls. They also told me the instant hot was taken off, not because of any means, it just doesn’t need service.

    Also, regarding the dispatch of AHS, it's hard to get them to understand what's going on. They have this script and they work from this script but they just don't get it. They don't communicate it well to their contractor relations department and the dispatchers. The fact that they can only email and transmit, that's where the problem is. We have nowhere above the representative to talk to. They put me over to supervisors and managers, but it’s all the same. But their roof guy, their appliance guy, their HVAC guy, and this drain cleaning guy were really nice people. They were clean, respectful, and did everything they were supposed to do.

    Appliance Tech was here to fix the cooktop and the washer. The tech did great with cooktop. It had leaked gas and the igniters didn’t work properly on all of the burners. He diagnosed it and fixed it quickly. With the washer, not so much, but we replaced it anyway. It didn't drain the soap very well. He cleaned it, but it didn't help. It still retained the detergent. For our toilet claim, we called plumbers two weeks ago but nobody ever called me. It's the same plumbing company that we used through American Home Shield as well for two other times.

    American Home Shield in general works well. It seems to do what it says. The only problem we had was when we had our water heater and that was last year. That was not as smooth as it should have been. We had water heaters go out and had to replace two of them. But AHS could not get to us for a long amount of time, nothing reasonable, which to me, reasonable is within 48 hours. You can't go without hot water. That was big and traumatic, and very expensive. They supposed to reimburse us but they never did and we just dropped it because my mom had been in the hospital and I didn't have time, both physically and mentally, to deal with it.

    American Home Shield did not work for us then, but they've had several services before between ice makers on the refrigerator, and those were handled great. Recently it was the fan motor. The communication was good. Once he was assigned to us, we heard from them in a very timely manner and everything was all taken care of within close to 36 to 48 hours. So, it was quickly handled. The tech didn't have the parts with him, but he was able to get it. He was wonderful. Very polite.

    We've had a claim three or four times with American Home Shield and their contractors come when I call. I recently did a claim for the ice machine. The repairman was here for a couple of hours, and he fixed it. But that was the second time we had somebody for that same thing. The other one was a couple of months ago. The repairman said that he sealed it with something different and that it should last this time. Evidently, the first time, they didn't use that. It only lasted about six weeks.

    Pop-A-Lock did a very good job of coming over and rekeying. They did what they had to do. I have an issue with American Home Shield because they tell you that something is covered, and then at the last minute, when they call in to the department that takes care of payment, then it's not. It happened with Pop-A-Lock, and then it happened again with Cactus Garage Door Openers. I want to file a formal complaint against American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield said that they covered rekeying and remote when I called and with Pop-A-Lock are gonna rekey it. Then they said, "Oh, no, there's gonna be an extra charge for us to get into rekeying the unit." So, they charged me an extra $30 and then $3 per key, which I really did not appreciate because Home Shield said that all that was covered already.

    When Cactus Garage Doors came over to issue a remote, I had called previously, again, because of what had happened with Pop-A-Lock. They said, "Don't worry, you are covered for the remote." I thought, "But I don't have a remote to give you, an old one or a broken one." I told them my issue. I just purchased a property and I didn't have a remote to give them, and they said, "Don't worry about it." Then when I scheduled with Cactus to come on over, they said, "You need to check with Home Shield to make sure that they're gonna cover the remote. I called Home Shield and I told them, "Look Cactus Garage Doors is telling me that I am not gonna be covered for the remote. Can you please confirm that?" They put me on hold for about four minutes.

    Then I spoke to a supervisor and I explained my situation saying, "I just purchased a property, I don't have a remote to give you and I need a remote for that." They said, "No problem, you do not have to give a remote for us to issue you one. And it's not gonna be no cost. It's taken care of. It's covered." I was like, "Okay." Two people have told me already. Cactus came over and before they started, they said, "No, we just want to make it aware to you that American Home Shield is saying that they're gonna pay for the remote." I blew my top and I said, "Okay. This is not right. I called twice and I explained to them exactly what my situation is, that I don't have a remote to give them. All I want to know, is it covered or not. And they told me yes, twice, to confirm, and now you're telling me that it is not?"

    I spoke to somebody that takes care of authorization at Home Shield, and they said, "No, it's not covered. I don't know why they told you that." So, then I told the lady, "You have such inefficient people that they don't know what is covered and what is not. And not only by one person, but by two persons. And they put me on hold to speak to a supervisor, and the supervisor doesn't know what is covered and what is not." I was very rude to the person in charge of authorization because I didn't know who to call to make sure then. The lady said, "Well, I don't know who you spoke to." My problem was not getting a name and a number, an ID badge, or somebody so that somebody could get reprimanded. My problem was I thought that it is covered and then it was not covered. That really upset me very much.

    American Home Shield is always pretty nice and they listen. They gave me someone for my washer recently. I looked up the company and Dun & Bradstreet banned them and they had one star. So I called American Home Shield and said that I didn't want them. They said, “Okay. Let's look for who else does this in your area.” It was actually A&E, which is really Sears. But they ended up sending another company I never heard of. They told me that this American Platinum had gotten much better reviews.

    The tech diagnosed the problem and he said he’d be back. Then American Home Shield said, “For a Kenmore washer, you're really better off with Sears. So, we're now gonna send Sears to you.” They fixed it. American Home Shield really listened to me that I didn't want the other store guy and they found me someone who had a good rating. So that’s a good thing. The other warranty places would say, “That’s who available. Take it or leave it.” Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. But it would be very nice if they would send the person that you told them you like.

    Last year before I renewed, I lost 100 bucks because the air conditioner people never came back out and fixed it. It was for a fan. I went out of town when the people called me back to come and install it. I called them back after I came back into town from vacation, and I've never been able to get ahold of them. No one on the American Home Shield side can seem to ever get ahold of them either whenever they call, so everything got dropped. Sometimes, the smaller companies that American Home Shield tends to go with are trying to get their businesses off the ground and do this and they don't tend to always have their ducks in a row.

    I wish someone called me back about my air conditioning. Home Shield said they’ll follow up then they'll follow up with me, but whenever I call back, there's never any follow-up. I get the same response every time I go with this process and I'm struggling to figure out if I'm gonna stay with American Home Shield or not. I have some times where I feel I'm getting good service then there's other times where it's not very good at all.

    Recently, we had a sewer gas smell, and the techs could have come a little sooner than putting it off, but they did a good job. The thing is though, we still have problems going on in the house. Unfortunately, they finished what they can do until they run another test. It's 350 bucks to run one more and I would love for it to be covered as part of Home Shield. ‘Cause I was led to believe that anything that went wrong with the home would be covered under Home Shield. They need to be upfront with what is and is not covered before people buy in and say, “Okay. Well, this is not covered, but if there is problems, then we'll cover the problems.” Like this test, for instance. There's no way of knowing what sewer gas and where it's leaking from unless I want to pay 350 bucks for the test.

    The little thing that clips the dishwasher to close it was broken. I called American Home Shield. I spoke with someone and took a picture of a tag inside the dishwasher, and I sent it to them. A guy came. We looked at it and when he came back a week later, he brought the piece. He fixed it and now I have a dishwasher. He was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable and funny.     American Home Shield sent Main Line to fix a leak. They found wear and tear from the toilets for years. They categorize it as abuse. I told AHS, “Read the notes from the plumber.” They wouldn't read it in front of me. I got two plumbers. I first got a plumber because we had an issue with the toilet. They were gonna repair it. AHS sent another one and they said the same thing as the first one, but AHS still didn't want to pay the claim. I no longer work with them. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody, too.

    I got American Home Shield because I had a friend that had a really good experience with them all and recommended them. I thought it would be a good idea to get. I had renovated my home and have lots of new appliances. I see a home warranty as insurance and I know what insurance covers. I'd rather pay a known $73 a month than, “Hey, I need an air conditioner for $6,000.” I'd rather know I have that fee and that I have that protection.

    When you have a claim, you can call American Home Shied or you can go on to the website and request service. It's very convenient and they are very prompt. But it's not within their control to be able to get a technician out here immediately. Based on my experience, it's the next day or within a couple of days. Techs came out to my house last summer and worked on the air conditioning. They were absolutely fantastic.

    Also, I have one of those very large glass showers with little mosaic glass tile and it has a large showerhead and a handheld as well. There's a diverter piece that you turn to either have all the water come out on the handheld, no water coming out of the handheld, or you split it. That had not worked for quite some time and we weren't letting anybody come in here during COVID. We did a claim for that and techs came out and fixed that. I couldn't have asked for better guys because they had to try to find a part. This shower was built back in 2009 and if they couldn't find the part, that meant all that tile would have to come out. That was huge for me. Everything is absolutely fine now.

    I also had a claim where the fellow that came for my washing machine couldn't fix it so American Home Shield bought a new one. It was handled so promptly, quickly, and efficiently. I was very impressed. That was the first time they had to replace an appliance for me and I liked the way that they did it. They sent me an email of choices that ranged from very basic models to some higher end ones on that were really upgrades. You could also get a gift card to Lowe's and that was the method I chose because I wanted to be able to buy at Lowe's locally. I try to get my friends to do the home warranty and tell them that they're crazy for not doing it.

    I have nothing to say positive about American Home Shield. It has not been a very good experience at all. I've been a Home Shield customer for many years in multiple residences, but what they sell was not equivalent to what we got. Then, after you've paid your money to have someone come to the house to tell you that you're covered, then they send you an email telling you that you're not covered. So, it's a cycle of negativity. I don't trust them at all. In fact, I think they should be investigated. I'm not happy with how they handle things. I'm a pretty intelligent guy who's very fair and understands right and wrong. The way these guys do business is completely fraudulent. It's fraudulence to offer you something to join, and because you're an existing customer, they gave you a 10% discount, which is equivalent to $120 a year, which I've never received.

    When you call them and say, "I didn't receive it." They say, "Well, we never made you that offer." I think they're a bunch of thieves. When I asked to speak to an executive of the company, I don't understand how I don't have the opportunity. If I can send the White House, to my president, an email that will be responded to by someone that works directly for the President of the United States, how does a company in America have the ability to hide its executives from answering questions of its customer? I'm angered about it. I was literally stolen from by this company, and they get away with it free and clear. The simple fact that American Home Shield, a successful company that does business the way they do it and the people they do it with, someone needs to review their standards and policies or they're not gonna exist much longer.

    The vendors that AHS has been sending out explain the issues and if it is really not being an issue, they explain what signs I should look for and things to maintain. The majority of them give a call when they're 30 minutes out and let me know that they're close. And they have positive attitudes. They're focused on resolving the issue.

    I had a guy come out for the furnace. I thought it was an issue but he just changed out the filter. He also checked through the device to make sure that everything was okay and he explained my policy, if there is any real issue that comes up in the next 30 days and I call them back, it would be no service charge for them to come and check to make sure that everything is functioning.

    Recently, we had a plumbing issue and the contractor AHS sent out worked very quickly. They were very professional and they explained the issue. Then, they talked to AHS and they were given the approval to proceed with the solution that they were recommending. They thought the repair was going to take two hours and it only took an hour for them to do it. Also, there was no mess. They cleaned up behind themselves.

    The customer service has been very good as well. I had to do one thing outside of them and I had to get authorization. It was pretty quick. The vendor called them and they got everything squared away. When I sent them the receipts after making the payment, they sent the reimbursement to me within two weeks. They sent me the check in the mail.

    The heat wouldn’t kick on. I called American Home Shield and I had to wait a little bit. I couldn't understand the waiting. But Tommy D came out and fixed the problem. Tommy D went through everything thoroughly and double-checked. The tech found the problem was that the breaker was kicking off because of the furnace breaker had a short in it. He had to replace whatever items he had to replace on that. So far, American Home Shield has been good. I wasn't happy that they raised the rate, but I called them and they said they would discount it, which they did. I'm satisfied with them.

    Service with them has been okay. There was a leak out of the faucet in the bathroom. Someone fixed it but it only worked for a day and then it started leaking again. I called back to say, “Hey, you know, it's still leaking.” The contractor told me to call back if it started leaking and I could get a recall. American Home Shield told me that they couldn't get in contact with the contractor, and he hadn't filled out a diagnosis form. So, they were waiting for him to fill that form out so that he could come back out. I haven't heard anything back. I called again and they told me that they still couldn't get in contact with the contractor and that if I gave it a week and if I haven't heard anything, they would elevate the problem to see if I could get somebody else.

    Other than that, I've had some previous repairs and everything went fine. AHS responds very quickly. They've been able to assign someone very quickly to diagnose the problem, find the solution, and get the problem solved. With the issue that I'm dealing with now, if there was a way that after a certain amount of attempts trying to contact the contractor, if that's not possible to be able to have someone else assigned to the issue while they figure out what's going on, that would be a lot easier.

    I let AHS know a few months ago that the icemaker on the refrigerator was not working and then they sent someone out. It worked for a little while, but it never would produce the whole container of ice. It was a couple of months later and I told them that the icemaker still wasn't working correctly. At that point, it had stopped producing ice totally again. The rep told me that I would have to pay for another service call before I'd have someone else come out. I paid another $75 to have the icemaker fixed, which didn't get really fixed in the first place. ADA repair came out and they said they needed to order a refrigerator door. That was about three weeks ago and it's still not repaired. I also had a claim for the dishwasher and they never came back to get that fixed either.

    I recommend American Home Shield warranty to anybody. I've had them since the early 2000s. This is my fourth house I've owned and with every experience and with every house, they have been superb. The deductible is from 75 to100, which is still not bad. I've also liked the fact that they offer included things such as TVs and games and computers as well. When a heater went out and a tenant in one of my homes had a baby, they expedited her claim. Sears recently had to replace a fan in my freezer. They were very thorough and professional. The repairman came out the first time and he ordered a part that came to the house in a couple days. Then he came back out and fixed it.

    The contractor came out and looked at three things. The tech fixed the dryer but he couldn't fix both the stove and the microwave because the parts weren't available for them. They were a little bit older units and there weren't any parts available. So those went into the replacement category. American Home Shield sent me an email that said the stove and microwave were gonna have to be replaced. It said, "Well, here's the value on your current unit," and then below was a little thing that said, "We'll help you replace it." If you click on that, it takes you to their in-store website. It asks you to filter out through brands. I had a Whirlpool, so I put Whirlpool and checked stainless steel and then it shows you what's available. I went and clicked on it to see if it was going to enter that in. When I didn't see anything, I didn't go further with that.

    I went online to the price of the same unit. I got the model number off of the AHS website. In Best Buy, it was 827, which was approximately the same at Home Depot. Then I went to the Whirlpool site and their manufacturer suggested retail price was 1,039. So then I called American Home Shield and I asked the rep, "I don't understand. Was the price already deducted or is it going to be deducted at the time I choose it or what's gonna happen?" She told me, "No, that's what you pay." I told her it didn't make sense to me because I could buy the same exact one for $827 in Best Buy or Home Depot. But she said, "Well, that's our price."

    I told the rep that American Home Shield was paying well above the manufacturer's suggested retail price. We went round and round with that. I was frustrated with that line of reasoning because I was going nowhere with her. It's either that's the company's policy and they're paying well in excess of retail or they're trying to make money on the deal, or this woman is confused and not trained right.

    Overall, American Home Shield has been responsive. When we call, we get someone we could talk to about whatever the issue is. This last year, we've had a bunch of things go wrong but the service people that they had sent out have overall been good. With one of our air conditioning units, we did have to have several visits. They sent out a couple of companies that didn't work on the type AC unit that we have. So it took a while to get that resolved. Once we got it resolved, the service people took care of the problem and we're everything's going well now. But American Home Shield only covers $10 per pound of refrigerant and the cost of the new refrigerant is $55 a pound. So if you need five pounds of refrigerant, then you got five times $45 to pay.

    The icemaker went out and we couldn't get the shelves put back into the refrigerator. I waited forever for the technician to come. It took him four days to get here. When the technician came, he kept trying and finally, he looked and touched the back. I told him it looked like the refrigerator swelled up. He said it did. I asked how did that happen and he said, "There's water been dripping in the back of this refrigerator and is protruding forward. This is unsalvageable."

    However, American Home Shield said it's not wear and tear. I didn't go over there and pour water in the back of it and didn't unplug the icemaker but they're not going to repair it. They're supposed to replace it. They're supposed to be sending somebody else out. The other company sent me an email last week. I told them I wasn't available that day and we scheduled it for today. I haven't heard anything from the company. They were supposed to call me between 8:00 and 8:45 this morning but I ain't heard anything from them. I called the company and they said the company was closed today. These contractors are getting sorrier and sorrier. They're liars. I feel like they're working for American Home Shield and are not here to help me. They got the icemaker working, but now my water doesn't work. I told the lady I was thinking about switching my contract.

    The refrigerator was making a loud buzzing noise. The day that the tech came out, it wasn't making the noise. He said there was nothing he could do if he didn't know what he was working on. He left. “If it comes back,” he said "turn your phone on and take a video of it" and he said "send it to me". I showed him where I thought the sound was coming from. He came out a couple of days later and said he thought it was the ice machine or the icemaker and he was going to replace the ice maker. It would take a couple of days for him to get the part. I said, “We're gonna be gone for about 10 days." I gave him a call when we got back and they came out and replaced the icemaker. It worked fine. I like the peace of mind of having AHS on larger repairs. I've also had them come out twice for the air conditioner and once for the pool pump.

    The claim process with AHS works fine. It's easy. I just go online to the website, put in my claim, pay the money, and a guy comes out a couple of days later. The most recent claim I had was when there was water in my air conditioner pan. It wasn't draining. Air Majesty came out and the tech was fast and real courteous. he told me how to prevent it from happening again. I'm happy. The only complaint I have with AHS is if you have to replace a broken product, they wouldn't replace it with the same quality item that broke. They would replace it with something inexpensive and cheap, which is not fair to me. I shouldn't get a new dishwasher that is just a $200 dishwasher when you're replacing a $900 dishwasher.

    The service with American Home Shield was not very good at all. I contacted them to get someone to come and do a preventive maintenance, semiannual check on the air conditioning unit. The air was working before someone came out and the upstairs unit wasn't working after. That company told us to call them back within 30 days if we have any problems. I called them a couple of days later and they said I couldn’t do that and that I have to submit a new request through American Home Shield. So, they lied about it.

    AHS said I would have to put a new request. So, I had to pay again and then, they had a different company come out who said there was a leak in the coil. That company said my portion would be $1,800 and I was thinking why AHS would not cover and pay them. I went on my own and got a quote and saved several $100 from someone replacing the coil without going through American Home Shield. I'm considering discontinuing their service because I'm paying for nothing.

    My washing machine was leaking so I contacted a person that works on washing machines. When he came out, he said it was not the washing machine that had the problem. It was actually a plumbing issue and I had a stoppage. He was an ex-plumber and he noticed the problem right away. He said that more than likely my kitchen sink probably had a stoppage as well. I went ahead and put in another claim for a plumber. When he came out, he corrected the problem and I've been fine ever since.

    I've had American Home Shield for over the life of my home loan, which is over 30 years. The service has been great so far. This warranty saves me a lot of money because I just have to pay the $75 that they charge to send out a repair person and their gimmick is they either fix it or they have to replace it. It works in my favor that I just continue paying monthly for the program. If I have any issues, I contact them.

    Sometimes it takes a little while to get something done and sometimes I can’t really understand what their reps on the phone are trying to tell me. But once I get away from the people that answer the phone to the people that get the order in, like when they replaced my washing machine, everything was great. They took care of it. The girl put in the order for me even though she said she couldn't and then she called me back and said they didn’t take it. But then they called me back and said they did and it all worked out great. I was very satisfied.

    The only thing was it took a long time to get here. I called on Good Friday and the rep said somebody would call me within 24 hours. I told her it's a Good Friday and I didn't think anybody was gonna call me in 24 hours. She said if they don't call me, one of theirs would call them back. I knew I had to wait until Monday and I did. Then, they sent somebody out of Houston. She gave me the phone number and the people called me. They said they weren't coming to Texas City and that they've already informed AHS. AHS called me back and they sent somebody else. The guy came and everything worked out great. But it took a while. It ended up being over two weeks before I got my washing machine.

    The first company that came out to repair the microwave had to order parts for it. Then they came back and put the parts in. But a week later, the microwave stopped working again.     Recently, I sent out a request and the plumbing company called me within a day and scheduled the appointment. They did it around my schedule and came out on time. I was putting in a new shower in my house and I had a clogged drain. I didn't know what it was and they went in there. It was dry, so they were able to get whatever was in there out before the new shower went in. They were very nice, friendly and knew what they were doing. They were in and out and it was draining pretty okay. I've been using that new shower now.

    American Home Shield fixes everything. I do a few claims a year, and when I do them, they send techs out and they fix it. It's even easier now 'cause you can pay a co-pay upfront. That's very convenient. My claims have been reasonable and I've never been rejected for anything. They've replaced my pool motor twice in 14 years and fixed an old microwave. They also fixed my refrigerator when the compressor went out on it because it was a recall. They've done all kinds of different things to my home and I've never had any issues with them. Still, I'd advise people to read the fine print. If you have a pool, make sure to have the pool coverage. People should make sure that it fixes everything they want because there's peace of mind. Repairs can add up.

    Overall, we're happy with them. We were having an issue with the kitchen sink. We were gonna get somebody out there. One of their people they had sent from a company called Tiger Plumbing had come at a time when we told him no one would be home and didn't advise anyone that he was on his way. Then later that afternoon, when he intended to come back was our boo-boo, where my stepson was a dodo bird and didn't answer the damn door. So we had to reschedule.

    The first gentleman from American Home Shield that had called me was great and we reset things and it was all good to go. About two hours later, at 4:00 PM, another woman called from American Home Shield. We got into it, as she was telling me, I'm going to have to pay 75 for the work when I didn't receive any work. I understand if they constantly come and nobody's home, I can understand if they get pissed off and charge us. But the first one was not on us, the second one was.

    When we had them come back out, we were there and we got the work done. She just was very insistent on me trying to pay for work that wasn't done. I told her that it was absolutely not going to happen and I needed to talk to her manager. She said, "We're very busy right now. I'll have someone call you in about 24 hours." They called me in less than 24 hours. The lady was very nice and said, "Since you've been a customer for, at least eight years now, we'll go ahead and waive that and move forward.” I'm very favorable to American Home Shield as they encompass a lot of the issues in our home. We've had air conditioner issues and plumbing issues and they handled just about everything. They're also very explicit about their paperwork as to what they cover and what they will not, which I appreciate.

    We didn't have any heat or cooling. All we had was the auxiliary heat, which quadruples your heat bill. Our heat pump was leaking refrigerant. The first contractor that came out said that the unit was old and should be replaced. But American Home Shield refused that and they wanted a second opinion. So they called another company and it took them about a week for them to get somebody to come out to give a second opinion. We were paying through the nose for the cost of it. The second company said it should be replaced, but that it could be repaired temporarily, but they didn't know how long it would stay like that. So American Home Shield agreed to go ahead and have the repairs done. It was done really promptly then. The guy that repaired it found there was something else wrong and he alerted Home Shield about it and they said, "Go ahead, repair it." So he did repair that too. So far, the unit is working good.

    Both companies that came out were very courteous and prompt. They knew their stuff. So that was awesome. The technicians were wonderful and very quick. As far as American Home Shield, they were really prompt in getting the first company scheduled. But the second opinion took almost a week longer so I wasn't too happy about that.

    I love AHS. Back in '99, I had an AHS warranty through a house I owned before. Back then, they paid whoever the person the $50, wrote them a check or gave them cash. If they couldn't fix it, they replaced it. The first thing that went out was our entire air conditioning system in the house. They came out and it was in and done. The guys that did my washing machine were also great.

    When we bought this house, the dishwasher was so old that it still has one of those dial things you turned on it. One guy came out and he was like, “I don't even think we can get parts for this.” A week and a half later, two other guys came out and they were terrific. I moved everything out of the way so they could get into whatever they needed to get into. But they have that thing in, in less than 45 minutes and we were done. Both teams that came out were wonderful and super polite.

    The guys that did the dishwasher were totally professional and sweet as they could be. Unfortunately, when they got to my house, it was pouring. But they were like, “No, ma'am. That's all right.” Didn't bring any kind of trash or garbage. Unloaded it out of the box on the truck, and then brought it in and it was perfect. AHS is amazing. I tell all my friends that if they don't have AHS, they need to get it. It is worth every penny.

    I had American Home Shield when I was in Maryland, so I just stayed with it. It's good to have everything under one umbrella and I like that it's easy. I just put the request in then the company notifies me. American Home Shield provides the number to the company, so that I can call them as well, if I don't hear anything in a timely manner, but that hasn't been the case so far. Recently, my air conditioning wasn't cooling. I hadn’t turned it on for the season, so I put a call in to American Home Shield.     I don't like American Home Shield. They suck. They did not pay for what they are supposed to pay. One of the air conditioning units died and they should have replaced it. When I called, I get to somebody overseas trying to answer questions that doesn't help me. When I bought the policy, it is not in the list of things that they are not covering. But the reps do not even give you an explanation. I asked them to get ahold of their supervisor, but they will not let me do it. I did not want to die in heat. My wife was not feeling well, so I had to call a technician to come and fix it. I paid 3,500 and American Home Shield paid 1,000. I paid big bucks every month for them.

    In the past, they were fine that's why I stayed with them. They used to replace things when they go wrong. Now, they don't want to do it. This is ridiculous and unfair. I am moving into another company. I’d want everybody to migrate out of American Home Shield and find another company because they don't belong here.     We just call American Home Shield and let them know that we've got a problem with whatever. And they find a person and send them to us. It has always worked out great. It has always been so simple a problem that they came and thought, told us what was wrong and we fixed it. We had two outlets that weren't working. There was one in each bathroom and they didn't have a ground fault. It was just a ground fault interrupter that was hidden in the garage. We didn't see it so we didn't know. It's simple things we have always called for.

    When we first moved in three years ago, it was 119 degrees on the day we moved in and the compressor on the air conditioner went out. That was a Sunday night, and AHS called around and they found an air conditioner repair guy who said, “Oh. I don't have the part but my dad does.     I contacted American Home Shield and after 3 days they finally gave me authorization to hire a contractor to come out as they did not provide one. Once contractor sent them bid it took a week of me calling before they would approve replacing the water heater. My contractor was AMAZING and I kept my part which was paying him, submitting invoice and then waiting. A week after submitting invoice to American home shield I called to find out status as I didn't even get an email that my invoice was received.

    I was then told I would have to wait 21 days for them to pay me back on an order they approved. So I did all that was asked of them and wrote an $1800 check to fix water heater and now I am told I need to wait at least a month to get reimbursed. Right now I would NOT recommend this warranty company. Also, my garage door opener went out and was told that garage door openers are not covered and I just read another client's review that AHS replaced their garage door opener. WOW. Will not recommend this company to anyone.

    There was a water leak on the dishwasher and it was fixed. I just went to the American Home Shield website to submit the claim. It’s always easy but sometimes, you have to package what you are asking for versus one of the main items that they always have. When there was a problem with the water spout in my bathroom, there was nothing for me to select to pinpoint because all they had was leaking pipes or this, so I had to write in and talk to the representative when they called me.

    I’m 80% satisfied with the quality of service with all that I've had done over the number of years. The first year paid for itself with a couple of issues that I had. So overall, AHS has been beneficial and saved me money in the long run. I normally call a couple of times a year so when I look at the issues they fixed, the policy pays for itself every year, which was why I kept it so long. I've had it since 2008.

    We love American Home Shield. It's the real deal. It saved us a ton of money and time. It's affordable too. We've used them several times and we've got the most bang for our buck with them. They've got good customer service, and they're timely. I never have to worry and wonder if they are gonna send somebody out. It always seems like things get taken care of quickly. Recently, we've had a couple of different plumbing issues. I called the plumber here in town and asked if I could do it and should I go through American Home Shield. He said to do it through American Home Shield and they'd get it taken care of. They sent somebody out and it was quick and painless. I trust Rinck's Plumbing and know Doug very well. We actually had them come when we weren’t even here.

    The claims process went very smooth when our washer went out. It was a lot better than I thought it would go. The first technician that came out to see if it was repairable was very nice and professional. He was very quick with his diagnostics and decision. He told us that it wasn't repairable and then American Home Shield sent us the information about getting a new washer. Then the company that came out for the new washer was great as well. They were very professional and nice too. Everything's been great. I feel very confident in having American Home Shield and I don't feel like I'm wasting money every month to pay them.

    I’ve had two claims and the first claim was a disaster. The contractor looked at the issue, said, “Oh, you've got a problem here,” didn't follow COVID protocol, and then would never call back to fix the issue. It was a bad contractor. Then the escalation process took a week. I don't know how many hours I spent trying to talk to their customer service around the world. The level of quality of the customer support companies they're engaging is low. I asked to talk to managers over and over and over again. Finally, I called another department entirely, a sales department, and I pleaded my case. The rep escorted me to the customer service people where she helped plead my case. I found someone who was wonderful and helped me. It took me calling three times a day for a week. But then the next repair I had, the guy that came out was the owner of the company and he was here for an hour to fix my oven. It was awesome.

    The people at American Home Shield's customer service call center are not empowered to help me. They kept on escalating and whatever the next level of support for contractor issues, they weren't answering back either. They didn't have a manager they could escalate to. They didn't have anyone else I could contact. It was like a dead end. Another thing is that American Home Shield needs to screen their contractors. When I looked up the contractor that they assigned for my first request, they had really bad reviews online.

He couldn't fix the leak and had to put a new unit in. He was done in 20 minutes tops. Everything was covered by the warranty. American Home Shield is worth it. It's cost effective and we're happy with it.

    I just signed back up after not having had American Home Shield for about three years. I've used it once and the scheduling was good. There was also constant and thorough but not overbearing communication. The tech himself was great and showed up when they said he was gonna show up. I’d give it a 10 out of 10 with one exception. He said, “There are four most common parts on any washer dryer that always break. For all the models that are three years new or newer, I can keep all four of those parts for the top models that we service.” My model was one of the top models. It is four years old, so he had none of the parts for mine. They had to make two trips and instead of getting it fixed the first trip, I had to wait 11 days. I was without a washer for a third of the month. The service cost 100 bucks. The part would have been 400 bucks. I paid 10 days to save 300 bucks so still not unhappy.

    The valve on the sink in the bathroom needed to be done. But in the fine little print, I didn't see that American Home Shield didn't cover the part in my bathtub. So, I haven't gotten it done yet because I gotta still find somebody with a reasonable price to get that fixed. There's always something that breaks that they don't cover. But everybody's still paying them and that's what makes things frustrating. Also, when you are on a fixed income, you can’t get somebody to do things right away. You gotta wait and try to get money up to save a little here when you on a once-a-month income. So it brings things a little tight for you.

    For my garbage disposal issue, American Home Shield got me in contact with someone quickly. And within two days, it was fixed. It took two days because of my busy schedule. So, it wasn't even because they couldn't find someone. AHS has two accounts for the address so I always have to click the second one, which is mine. So, that’s a bit tricky because it doesn’t pop up for me. I only discovered that because it said my account is not active but I know it is. I would recommend AHS from how reliable it is and how fast they can put you in contact with someone that can fix it, especially now, because I'm looking to rent the house because I'm moving.

    I had my refrigerator break about three weeks ago. The techs from National Platinum Service put a new compressor in and they went to update the software, and it didn't work. So they had to put boards in the back and the refrigerator started working. I have a two-drawer freezer on the bottom of the French doors. The drawer got stuck, I could not open it. So, I called them back, and it took me a couple of days for somebody to call me back. The tech came and steamed the seal on the drawer, and I couldn’t open up the freezer drawer at all. I had about three calls in to them and no one has called me back. With COVID, there were a lot of delays in getting parts and that's no one's fault as far as American Home Shield.

    This is my first experience with National Platinum and I am not very happy. It's very aggravating to say the least. I've had a lot of problems with the refrigerator, but this is the first time that I don't even get a call back from them. I lost a lot of food in my freezer and the prices of food today are not reasonable anymore. I have a refrigerator in the garage and a freezer, but it's just the principle of the thing that I had to stuff whatever I could salvage out of there, which was not much. Still, I would recommend American Home Shield. It's not their fault, it's the subcontractor. I had their number and I've called several times and I didn't get a reply. I don’t know if I should call AHS to make them aware of the situation. I've never had a problem with them. I use them for electrical, plumbing and for my appliances. The problem was just recently because of the inventory that was delayed.

    The service of AHS has been good so far. We had a refrigerator that needed a lot of work. They were able to take care of it. We're happy with the result. Three of the shelves that are in there now have broken parts on them, so they've got backups coming in and that's what we're waiting on. The techs were very good.     A contractor came out a few years ago for the air conditioning, and in the past month, for the dishwasher. It was spilling out a bit. It would go to the floor if I didn't tighten the door well.     Techs came for a pre-season check and checked everything. Everything was in the right place and it was all good. The only thing they couldn't check was the air conditioning and how much psi it had in the refrigerant because they said it was still too cold to be able to test that out. I had another claim where techs came out and did a roof leak repair. I also put in a claim a few days ago for a septic pump replacement. When I did it online, I put septic pump and somehow it went to sump pump. Home Shield assigned a contractor. They called me and I told them it was septic pump. They turned around and said they didn't do that. They canceled that order and I had to call back Home Sheild. They did it online while I was talking to them and they put sump pump also. They called me back again and they had to cancel that one again.

    I put another one in again yesterday, which said septic pump and I triple-checked. I called a guy yesterday and we scheduled an appointment. They're supposed to be out today. I've been emailing and calling them and I still haven't gotten a response back. That's frustrating especially since I've already had to pay for the septic people to come and pump the system out because the stuff was starting to back up into the house. I'm just waiting for them to come out and find out what's going on so I can get that done and repaired. I've also been having trouble with people picking up and answering. There is a language barrier when talking to a majority of them as well.

    I'm liking American Home Shield’s service. I’ve used the warranty a couple of times and each time that I've had different things done, from electric to plumbing, the scheduling has been easy. The people that come by are very professional and knowledgeable, and you get a resolution fairly quickly. There was a leak in the bathtub and the plumber was able to take care of it. It works perfectly now.

    The plumber had to cut through part of my wall to get to the pipe and that necessitated someone else to come out here to patch up the hole that was cut. The process was fine. The way that it could be better is if there's a way for the plumber or for the agency to get in contact with somebody to repair the hole because I ended up having to call back into home warranty to tell them what happened and give all the information myself. But I’ve never had issues with getting things covered. Aside form the plumbing, I’ve had my air conditioner fixed and I had electrical work done last year. I’ve recommended AHS to three people that I know.

    The dishwasher would start, but water wasn't moving through the system and the parts weren't moving inside. The scheduler called me and told me the times available, and the gentleman came over and did his assessment of things. He seemed to be fairly conscientious of things. He took his shoes off and was careful where he put stuff. He was very polite and responsive. He said the motor burned out and it was leaking underneath. He said he was going to order them and then cleaned up. Then he came back when the part was available and put it in, and everything seems to work now. I had American Home Shield about three years ago. We initially got it a couple of months before we put our place up for rent while we were gone for a year. It was an easy way to manage if rental comes and then, we've kept it afterwards because it's been nice to have as an insurance policy for situations.

    My air conditioner was taking so long to cool anything down. I called AHS because I specifically wanted a contractor to come out. I thought I would be on hold forever but I was not. The claims process went very quickly and I was very impressed. Higginbottom’s Heat & AC Service, the contractor I requested, then came out and everything was fine. I always request them.     My most recent claim was for my refrigerator. American Home Shield sent out a guy, but he didn’t do anything. He looked around and said there was nothing wrong with it. The next morning, the refrigerator was doing the same thing it did when he first got here. It was freezing up. But they never came back out. I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a year and I've been paying them $60 a month for the last year. That’s 700 and some dollars. Then, I have to pay this guy to come out here that wasn't qualified to fix my refrigerator a $100. I’ve been calling American Home Shield for them to try to get these people to do something. I had to pay a technician from Samsung $375 today to fix my refrigerator. It has been broken since the 22nd of April.

    I had a clogged line and they had DHS come out. DHS did not have the proper equipment to go in there and the snake that they had only made it to 25 feet. I told AHS that I needed somebody else but they kept on sending me to DHS. It was three times that they put in another request. They finally got it after being on the phone for almost three hours with them and they got me another plumber. The second plumber came out and did a really good job. This was the first time I've ever had a problem. AHS can improve on the people who answer the phone to be more attentive to what somebody keeps on saying. But other than that, I like their service.

    I have purchased (American Home Shield) AHS silver, when I purchased 4 plex home in Santa Clara, California. AHS is not for old old homes. There is clause in AHS book to exclude every repair for old house.

    Issue 1. Plumbing clog:
    Lesson 1. learned: No cleanout installed - no plumbing coverage from AHS.
    After 2 months I had kitchen sink clog. Filed a ticket for a plumber company assigned snaked and clog did not got fixed and contractor did not call. They assigned second contractor "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" came and told "no Clean out," no warranty cover. Suggested me to break everything and repipe or do hydro jetting- useless recommendation.

    Solution: I went to third-party local experienced plumber and paid 800. They sawed out, replaced clogged joint plumbing line and everything works.

    Issue 2 & 3: Preseason heating check ; AC not working.
    Lesson 2: AHS don't cover AC controls. Inexperienced contractors don't know to open vents before they test. Wasted 150 instead I could have paid third party and saved 3 weeks of time.
    Contractor comes, turns heater on and burner stops after 2 min. contractor denies to clean as AC is not working. Recommends file new ticket for AC not working,
    paid money again for new ticket. New contractor to repair AC comes and says damper control not working, not covered by AHS, quotes me 2600 to fix controls.

    Solution: Called third party licensed AC mechanic, charges me 300 and fixes a screw to open the damper and everything works fine. Told vents are closed on the floor so heater is heated and stopped as temperature is reached the limit.

    Issue 4: Electrical outlet loose contact.

    AHS contractor comes and fixes loose contact within 3 days. I am surprised AHS is able to fix an outlet after I paid more than $950+ in this span of 8 months.

    Issue 5: Shower water flow speed reduced.

    Lessons: Flow restrictions in plumbing line not covered by AHS.

    If you see "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" run away. If you use Delta faucet, home owner have to order for replacement parts from Delta lifetime warranty- (this process takes up to 1 months) and AHS will not cover parts. They don't care about customer inconvenience. AHS assigned a contractor in October 2022, he comes to home and said he will be back with parts. After 2 weeks I called AHS, they said will contact contractor and be back within 48-72 hours. Called AHS, after a week gets a reply, wait for 48-72 hrs to contact contractor. After 1 week AHS agent says contractor still not responding, they will have to connect to AHS contractor relations wait for 48 hrs. Nobody from AHS provides status wait for another 2 weeks.

    AHS customer relationship agent is not responding, wait for 48hrs, drama goes for 1 month. I lose patience, asks for new contractor if old one is out of business. They tell me I pay again for new contractor because contractor is out of business and he got paid. I explains it is not my fault they assigned contractor: "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing." He shows up on Feb and says: Since I am using Delta faucets I have lifetime warranty. I need to contact Delta faucet company warranty department. After waiting for 5 hrs on phone Delta faucet tells me they will ship replacement. Takes 1 months to get replacements.

    In the 1 months they closes ticket. In March 2022 need to call and explain that the issue is not fixed and needs a recall. Person from "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" comes and replaces cartridge and water flow from shower becomes worse than before. AHS will not fix if they are flow restrictions in plumbing line which are common for old homes.

    "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" recommends break the walls and repipe or change the value or I don't know as the problem can be anywhere: All I can say is cost can be very high and AHS will not cover flow restrictions which he has created. Called AHS and asked why does it take them 6 months to say it is not covered? Asked they their contractor made flow even worse can he undo it, they said they will recall and nothing happened. After 6 months of patently waiting to get shower flow ends with disappointment of no coverage. If it is not covered why waste lots of time of customers?

    Solution: Hired experienced third party plumber and paid 950 to get shower value replaced.

    Summary of lessons for AHS usage:
    Lesson 1: No cleanout installed- no plumbing coverage from AHS.
    Lesson 2: Flow restrictions in plumbing line not covered by AHS.
    Lesson 3: AHS don't cover AC controls. Inexperienced AC contractors don't know to make sure AC vents are open.
    Lesson 4: If you see contractor "Water Heater Solutions and Plumbing" runaway.
    Lesson 5: Have patience to wait for 6 months to get status on plumbing issue is not covered by AHS.

    Finally canceled American Home Shield and got relieved of agony caused by AHS.

    Pros: AHS will assign a contractor within a week. Friendly customer care soothingly talk when you are in deep urgent plumbing trouble.

    Cons: AHS will guarantee to find a clause to avoid any costly repairs.
    AHS Plumbing and AC contractors are inexperienced and not motivated to solve the problem.
    AHS contractors are motivated to find a clause to avoid repairs.

    Some of the contractors of AHS are good but some of them are scam artists. They sign up to work for American Home Shield, and then they talk their way out of doing anything. I've had two of them. When I called to have my heating and cooling system checked, she told me that everything was good, but it was not. I had him come twice so I figured there was no sense in saying anything until it actually breaks because until it breaks, they aren't going to do anything. Hopefully, when it breaks, they'll send me somebody worthy of fixing it.

    I also had a plumber. I told him he wasn't leaving without fixing the plumbing problem. He gave me a line of ** and walked out and told American Home Shield that there was nothing wrong. He couldn't find a problem. But the second plumber they sent was good. He was very thorough and checked everything that I asked him to check. I've also had an electrician. He was very knowledgeable and did the work. I like the service of AHS when I get somebody that’s willing to do the work. I'll keep them because eventually, they seem to get things fixed.

    American Home Shield sent someone out twice to my house. I only bought my house in October. I had a problem with my refrigerator, and then I had a problem with the GFCI. I always get a home warranty because I'm not good at fixing stuff. I've made two calls on the current home warranty I have. On the first call, it wasn't quite that easy. I needed to confirm whether or not it was an LG versus a Kenmore. So, I had to leave my office, drive home and find out what kind of fridge it really is, and then send everybody pictures of it.

    I wasn't happy because they did not forward that information over to the servicer. So, when they called to book the appointment with me, they were like, "Well, I need to know whether it's an LG" and I was like, "I have no idea." I had to go home again because American Home Shield did not see the information through the tech. But that was the only glitch. Both technicians that AHS sent out for the refrigerator and for the electrical were phenomenal. They were really nice.
