    The first claim was associated with a toilet that was leaking. It was the first time that I used the process, so it was confusing to not be able to ask somebody exactly how they did this. I got a notification that I could use a video call about it. What you would see is water on the floor, so I'm not sure exactly how that was supposed to work. Also, it seems onerous to have to pay American Home Shield $100 when somebody has paid $500 or $600 for the contract. But I was satisfied with the quality of the work that J&M did. Because they did three different things, and all of them were well done. They did an excellent job fixing the problem. The people that came out from J&M were journeyman plumbers, and they were careful, courteous, and made sure we understood what was going on.

    I did American Home Shield mostly because of the rate that I got and the customer service turnover was pretty good. It makes my life easy when something is broken, especially living by myself and juggling so many different things. It's nice to be able to rely on someone. It definitely justifies the membership subscription. So far, everything's been great.

    I call the 1-800 number whenever I have a claim and I let them know what's wrong. They take down the information and they get me connected with the appropriate servicing company. They call me, take information, and set up an appointment. They then come look at the problem. I had my washing machine fixed and that was great. I have another claim for my HVAC and I'm waiting on the service call. The servicing company fixed an appointment on Friday.

    I was getting water in my basement because my sump pump went out. I put in a claim with American Home Shield and it was nice to be able to reach them after hours through their automated system. I really appreciated that. The tech, Chris, called me the following day and set the appointment up. I wasn't at the house when he came, but I had my sister come here and meet him. He said it was a covered claim and he had a sump pump in his van. He also said that it wasn't a very good pump and he could sell me another pump that was better, but my husband said, "No, just go with the one that American Home Shield uses." I'm very satisfied with this experience. It was nice and easy, and Chris was very professional, timely and knowledgeable. He fixed the problem, and if he didn't come as quick as he did, we would've had a real problem. I've had American Home Shield for years and I always recommend them.

    I had two things, my washer and water heater. It's easy to submit the claim. With the washer, whoever that vendor was was wonderful. That guy was wonderful. He came on time, stated the issue, what it could be, and did all his testing. He identified the problem, said it was this, and he rescheduled the appointment for a week later. He cleaned up after himself well. We were out of use of a washer for a week, but we dealt with it. And when he came back, he came back at the time of his appointment, and he replaced the part. It looked like it wasn't that part. He identified the issue. After ongoing tests, he found the issue and he replaced that part, and now the washer works great.

    But getting the correct vendor is bad because we had problems with our water heater before. That vendor for the plumber constantly kept canceling. I would see that he would be on his way when I checked the status of him coming out, but it kept getting pushed back by hour. All of a sudden, he couldn't come out. He's bad. We were over two months without hot water. It took that vendor that long to get it. And when he put it in, he didn't do it right because less than a month later, the water heater thing blew up. So, we ended up replacing the hoses ourselves. So, we had a bad experience with that water heater and the vendor that American Home Shield provided us, even after we told them of the number of complaints about them with the Better Business Bureau, AHS still continued to do business with that plumber.

    Also, they were supposed to replace a comparable water heater or better. But they gave a much less water heater. Also, they were supposed to refund my service call for that water heater. They haven't done that. I told them I still haven't got that refund because I ended up doing it myself.

    The outlet on the pool and the pump weren't working and when I put in the work order, it couldn’t be done because it's not attached to the house. But the contractors from American Home Shield have been good as well as my experience. If people own a home, they should consider getting AHS.

    It was great with First Choice AC. There was quick response. There was a part on the outside of the AC unit that was burnt out so the fan wasn't wanting to kick on and my house wasn’t cooling. They fixed the issue the same day and I haven’t had an issue since. American Home Shield is very affordable and saves me a lot of money. The service is fast and so is the feedback.     When you have a claim, you can call American Home Shield or you can go online. I go online and it says "submit a request". You hit yes and for what property. If it's air conditioning, heat, water, or whatever it is, you check that off and you send it. Usually, within 24 hours, you're contacted by somebody to do the fix. But what they don't tell you is they might tell you it’s next week when they can come to fix it. I had a water leak and it was nine days before someone could get out there. You're looking at a week most of the time for a lot of stuff.

    American Home Shield doesn't necessarily give you the service that they promised you on the phone. But the advantage is you pay the $75 and techs come out and they fix or replace. I have rentals and the whole heat and air conditioning unit in one of them went up. Techs went out there to fix one piece and they found something on the other piece. They replaced it. It cost me about $1,500 because they don't tell you about connecting to ducts, rewiring, and some little petty things they threw in there. Overall, it was about $7,500 to $8,500 a unit. When it comes to the techs, it's not the same one all the time. I've had Sears come out. I also had one boy that was young and he did not know stuff about the hot water on demand. I knew more than him because I had fooled with the unit a little bit. The rest of the techs were very professional and nice.

    I also had a claim for my refrigerator and that was the killer. My refrigerator started not cooling on November the 4th last year. American Home Shield sent six technicians out. The first guy that came out said it needed to be replaced, which was probably about $2,600. American Home Shield said I didn't have a contract with them. I talked to two or three people about that. They said it was a mistake. The rest of the techs came out. They would walk in and say they don't do sealed units.

    I called American Home Shield and I complained and I cussed them. This was over the major holidays. Customer service was extremely difficult to understand. After the sixth one, I said I was going to get the unit fixed and asked if they were going to pay for it. The guy that I talked to said to find out the price and submit it to them. I did that and called back. I got somebody else. You can never talk to the same person. She said, “No, let us try one more time.” I said, “I can't let you try one more time. I need my refrigerator.” I called my guy and he came out for $725. I submitted the invoice to American Home Shield and they said I didn't have the authorization to have the refrigerator fixed. I said, “You couldn't get my refrigerator fixed in 10 weeks over two major holidays.” In the end, I didn't get reimbursed for that.

    The other thing with American Home Shield is they won't let you talk to a supervisor. A call is not escalated. Instead, somebody will call you back. I asked if the person who called back if he was a supervisor and he was not but he said he could help. What you end up doing is, if you have an issue, you tell the same story every time someone calls. The same person does not call you back.

    Our air conditioner unit had a leak. When we submitted a claim for it, it was great. The response of the vendor was fast. They were supposed to come out on a Friday.     There was a sink and a tub in the same bathroom that were draining slow so TMD Plumbing came out. They didn’t find any major problem. They snaked it and everything was working fine again. That went well. We've had TMD out a few times and they're always very good. The contractors that AHS has sent out have been great. They're very professional. They come on time, diagnose the problem quickly and fix it quickly as well. We have an older house so we like that if there's ever anything that goes wrong with an appliance or plumbing, we just call American Home Shield and they send somebody out, and it's just the copay. The issue usually gets fixed or we've had a number of things that have been replaced.

    Typically, we've been happy with AHS but I'm a little disgruntled with them at this moment because our dryer broke and it's been five weeks. They kept sending the same guy out to fix it and he kept bringing the wrong part, and then he'd have to order a new part. And then it was another week. AHS decided to order me a new dryer and when the dryer came, it was for an electric hookup instead of a gas, which is what I have. So, I'm now on Week Six without a dryer. They were supposed to call me yesterday with an update but I didn't get a call yesterday. I don't know if they're having trouble keeping employees or what's going on, but I have to do a lot of legwork and spend a lot of time on the phone just getting follow-up lately. I don't remember it being like this because we renew our contract every year and it’s $800 at least a year.

    I had platinum coverage with AHS... I had a water line near the hot water heater, start to leak. The request service, paid $100 -- contractor arrived - accessed. Worked was denied, I ended up paying for the repair myself, plus premiums, plus the $100 fee to AHS.. So this ended up costing me more than if did not have a policy at all. After the contractor left, I called AHS to discuss what happened and request a refund of my $100 or the $300 I paid the contractor. Both was denied... They used some type of technicality to get out of paying for the service call. Very bad company - I am cancelling my policy, I would not recommend doing business with them.

    The people I was talking to on the phone did not speak English very well. I think I was going to a call center somewhere outside of the United States. Very difficult communication, and these people are the ones who are making the decision to deny the claim. On the platinum coverage, leaking pipes is specifically covered, until the contractor arrives. Resolution they offered, they would select a different plumber and send out for a 2nd opinion, but if the AHS selected plumber did not agree with me, then I would be billed for a 2nd opinion, causing more expense on the problem already... Very bad company.... Do not waste your money with them.

    We turned in our order for my air conditioning tune-up and they sent out a contractor who had been here before. The tech said we needed a part and he said it had to be a separate order. We thought we could get ahold of AHS and have him come back and put the part in. But there was no way that we could get ahold of anybody to tell them we wanted the same people back. We tried online and on the phone. When we find a company that does a good job, we like to use that same company over again. I've had some employees that I'd love to have back and some, I should have never hired. It'd be nice if I could get some companies back again when I have a problem. I would really appreciate it. But the company they sent out to bring the part, Ramsey Air, was very good too. We'd be happy to have them back.

    I took advantage of getting my AC unit checked for the year. And that was a fiasco. Found out my air conditioner was faulty. It wasn't holding its temperature. The tech never did anything. He tried to charge me 200 and some dollars for Freon. In the middle of that, he got a call that said the work order was canceled because something happened with my payment. He left in the middle of the job and left my gate open. I had to call my own air conditioning guy to fix things and he let me know that the AC really needed to be replaced. So, I called American Home Shield back, and that’s when they sent Cabot out.

    But the situation I went through was uncalled for and very unprofessional. The guy was upset because the work order was canceled and he wouldn't be able to get any money. So, he tried to get money from me. The $200 for freon had been a waste. I still had to pay the $75 for the checkup. Then, I had to pay $130 for Cabot to come out. And, I had to pay $520 for the Freon. So I was out about $900. I was very disappointed in the whole ordeal. I also was very disappointed with American Home Shield. For as long as I've had them, I pay them $70 a month. Then, I'm out almost $900 to get a unit replaced. I was expecting them to come out with a new unit, and it wasn’t. Other than that, the guy from Cabot was amazing.

    One of the burners in our range wasn't working. Submitting the claim was pretty easy. I did it online and it all went good. The first guy checked it and he told me that the burner was bad. He had to order the parts and then another tech came back to put them in. Both of the techs that came out were very good. I had another claim to fix my heater.     I’ve had one claim recently with AHS and the service has been fine. The new contractors have been okay. But the past contractors were not. I went without air for two months last summer. I kept being told that my parts weren't in. I was told several different things. I finally ended up having the product repaired myself, paying $3,500 out of pocket to have it repaired. They said there was one part that was wrong with it. It ended up being two parts wrong with it. The day after I had it repaired, the person that was supposed to repair it called me and told me the part was in. I could have saved myself $3,500 because I had a warranty with them.

    Also, when I was talking with the reps, they weren't knowledgeable of the information when I went into my problem. I'd call back and it wasn't in the notes that they should have had in there. They kept telling me the things that I had discussed with them. I was promised through retention two free service calls. But I've had a service call this year and they charged me.

    We had part of our water heater system burst recently. Silva Plumbing contacted me the next morning and they came that same day. I sent them some photos and the tech was able to diagnose it over the phone. He was also able to get the part and bring it with him to fix the same day. Sometimes, it's just a little frustrating when claims are submitted with AHS. We have an open issue with my oven. The first contractor came out. Whatever he wrote on the paperwork, he determined that it was a pre-existing problem. But nobody knows when something cracks on an appliance. I’ve had lots of things go bad within the months of owning my home. So, I had to go through an appeal to get another one out. Now, we’ve been waiting on parts for six months. It isn’t all American Home Shield’s fault. But, sometimes, the system for sending out contractors and claims and approvals can be a little bit flawed.

    My husband called American Home Shield and said that our garbage disposal wasn't working. They said, “Okay, we'll send somebody out.” Somebody called me and said, “What day can we come out?” I said Friday. I let them come into my house. They opened up the sink and looked at the garbage disposal. The blades were stuck, and they were able to get the blades unstuck. The disposal works now. They resolved the issue and taught me how to keep it from happening again. This experience was good. The last one was terrible though. AHS could choose better companies to work with.

    I love American Home Shield. I just pay the deductible and they got the technicians take care of my claim. Quick A/C Solutions came for the circulation fan on the unit that kept continually running. The technician diagnosed the problem quickly and it didn't take him time at all to fix it. I also had a claim with the washer and the dryer. For the dryer, there was an issue with a belt and the wheels for the drum. The washer was leaking up the bottom. The technician diagnosed it and opened it up. He saw that a rubber piece had a hole in it and that was leaking. However, it's been two weeks and the technician still hasn't gotten the part back here to fix it. It's been great so far with American Home Shield except for the washer.

    I'm single, and I have American Home Shield for security. I requested to have a preseason check done and it was great. The tech came out within a week. On the other hand, I was never happy with the way my plumbing claim went down. Somehow, somebody quoted that an earthquake was the reason I needed the toilet replaced.     I was assigned Foster's to repair my oven and I waited a few days but I hadn't heard anything from them. When I called them, they told me that they already told American Home Shield that they could not service my oven. I said it was fine, but nobody had notified me that they needed to make a switch. When I called customer service, they looked at the records and said they declined the order. So, they assigned somebody else. When the guy came, he looked at my oven, but he didn't pull it out of the wall, and left. He said he would have to order a part. But then I received another email from Foster's, indicating that they were setting up an appointment. So, when I talked to them, they came and repaired my oven.

    Both companies have been to my house twice. But the other guy who said he was gonna order the part but didn't come back, did that the first time he came. I felt like when he saw me, that he didn't want to work here. I can't be sure that he didn't say anything rude. He wasn't personable at all nor friendly. He didn't kick my dog but I didn't have a good feeling about it. And that was the second time he had been here that he did not complete any kind of service.

    When Foster's came back the second time and I asked the guy if he had been here before, he said he didn’t remember. But he did everything he was supposed to do. He pulled the oven out of the wall, ordered the part, came back and took care of it. So, Foster's was not a problem for me other than the initial mix-up with them declining the service at the beginning. When he left after he came and diagnosed the issue, he said it might be one thing and he was going to order a part. He was not positive but he was going to order what he thought was wrong. When he came back that second time, he wasn't able to fix it with that part. But he did let me know that he wasn't sure the first time.

    When he ordered the second time, he said he would be back in about a week and that it would be about five days to get the part. It was about a week and a half but they did call me and I wasn't concerned in a half of another week. So, they called me and set up the appointment. He came out, put it in and everything has been fine ever since.

    I've been very happy that I have this service now because for many years, when I first started getting those little postcards about home warranty, I thought it was something I didn't need. But I had to have my oven repaired and it cost me $1,200. Then, I spoke to a friend of mine and she mentioned that she had American Home Shield or she had a warranty service and they were coming to fix something of hers. I was thinking that it works. There are two different individuals that I know that used a warranty service and they had used it and said it was good. And once I've gotten AHS, I've used them at least three times.

Within two days, water was coming out of the bottom of the furnace and AHS sent someone out. It was just lines that got plugged. Those two things would have been a major hassle for me but AHS addressed them right away and had very good conclusions. I didn't anticipate I'd ever use it because it's an expensive home and it's eight years old. The guy who owned the house had it so, I decided to get it.     My dryer wasn't working. It was cutting off. I called and I submitted a claim with AHS. The only thing I had problems with was I got a lot of non-English speaking people and it was hard for them to understand me sometimes. There was also never a manager to escalate the problem. Also, right now, I'm having to deal with a roof that's having problems. The roofing guy came today and knocked my AC off and he was telling me it was not his fault. He didn't mean to or he was really careful, he didn't do anything. But now my AC isn't working. I'm trying to figure out how can I get my $100 to have somebody come out to fix my HVAC.     I've been successful with American Home Shield for quite some time. But there are a couple of things that could be a little bit better. When a claim is submitted, they seem to only look at companies that are registered with the provider even for cases where we have fixes that require emergency assistance such as a refrigerator being out. Based on the people registered with American Home Shield, they are not able to provide a service within two weeks or so. They should be able to look in the area. If that service provider isn't available, who will be next? They should base some of the services on categories, which is considered an emergency compared to standard repair work.

    The home warranty is beneficial every now and then. We didn't get the name of the plumbing service that we used the last time. He was a hardworking worker and was very professional but the toilet thing broke off two days after and one of the flushes isn't going down. We're in the process of trying to reach back out to see who provided service to us last. I'm quite sure the tech will be able to come and adjust it.

    Most of the appliance people that came out left a business card in their brochure. Fred's Appliances was outstanding. The plumber didn't have any type of business card to say, "Hey, if you need some extra work done, here's my number. Give us call if you got any problems. If it's something that's covered that we did, we'll come back out or if it's something with American Home Shield, just put it back in."

    I would also make a suggestion that America Home Shield give us the opportunity to rate the quality of the person so they get the overall observation of what type of people are coming in. If they're receiving feedback for one particular vendor and the rating score's really low, they might want to discontinue their service because that would help them to identify that there seems to be a problem with the vendor that's coming out. This will lead customers not wanting to stay with American Home Shield.

    We have other properties that we have covered. Sometimes the customer service in the duration of reimbursement, the process can be quite long. For my claim, it took 23 or 28 days to get some service done. By this time, we're looking to try to see what we can afford out of pocket because it falls into that category of an emergency basis and it doesn't always line up with American Home Shield's timeline. At times, we might have to pay somebody out of pocket. On the whole, I've had American Home Shield for years and I'm happy with the service that's why I keep them around.

    As our house gets older, I thought about getting a home warranty. I had American Home Shield back in the late ‘90s when I purchased a home and had great service with them. It was a no-brainer to go back to them when we decided to go ahead and get a home warranty. We have peace of mind and we absolutely love having them. When something happens, we pay our monthly premium and when you're having to call somebody, you're not worried it's going to be thousands of dollars. It's simply a deductible that you pay and whatever needs to be fixed is fixed or replaced.

    When I have a claim, I just go on through the app and tell them my problem. I get a text immediately letting me know who's been signed. We did a claim when the AC stopped working the weekend before last. We had to wait until Monday to get a call and that was a little bit frustrating. But under the circumstances, it was a weekend. Weekend rates are higher because it's considered an emergency call and I get that. It also was a little bit cooler that time.     American Home Shield is a safety net and I'll never get rid of it. I had an issue that started to be an electrical fire and the wires were melting. And I called 911 and they shut it down at the breaker box. Flowertown and Air came and the tech replaced some wires. He was friendly and professional. I said, "Is that a normal thing?" He's like, "Yeah." But, I would have liked a little more information. There was another guy I had before and I could tell he was thorough and that he knew what he was doing. He really wanted to teach me and said, "This is how this works and this is why it did this." So, there's a very big difference. But this other guy did the work and he was gone. But would definitely recommend Flowertown Heating and Air. I've had them come out quite a few times. They're always professional, courteous, and quick.

    With my last claim for my oven, this guy showed up with a screwdriver an hour and a half late on the first visit. I called because I kept getting text message updates that said that he's on his way, and then there's a little map you can look at and it shows that he's 15 minutes away, but the number of minutes away kept growing. He didn't touch the oven at all and just said it needed this and this. So, my oven caught fire. He ordered the parts and he's going to fix it but they're supposed to be here from 12:00 to 5:00 and I haven't heard anything today. The last time I waited from 12:00 to 5:00 and at 5:00, I started going, "Okay, so are they not coming in?" And they came at 6:30. Other than that, I've been with AHS for three years and we've been very impressed.

    The rep at AHS told me they would submit the claim and that I would get a call from the appliance company. They also gave me the appliance company's contact information. The appliance company called me within a couple of hours. I told them how my washer was and what had happened. The appliance company came out and diagnosed. The day they came out, they knew right away what the problem was. There were certain parts that needed to be ordered. They ordered the parts, came back the following Monday and replaced everything. In the meantime, when they had to remove the agitator, it broke. They had to order a new agitator, came back out the end of that week and replaced the agitator.

    A starter on the pool went out. The tech came out and fixed it right away. It worked out. The first time that my hot water heater went out, American Home Shield fixed it. But three years later, the hot water heater that they replaced went out again. So I have to pay the service fee again. But all of a sudden, I had to pay additional fees for permits. I've never paid for a permit. That same hot water heater has been replaced at least four times thus far and it hasn't even been 10 years. There was also an instance when I tried to tell them, “Listen, you guys put this hot water heater in there. It’s damage. It has dent and dings in it.” It's not safe, but they couldn't resolve it and wouldn't resolve it. I couldn't speak to somebody that could speak English.

    There was another issue with my washing machine and I had major water damage because American Home Shield sent out a company who jimmied jack bootleg internal parts within my washing machine that made it back up into the wall. I had water damage in the garage and the walls in the laundry room. But American Home Shield doesn't cover it. They just said, “Oh, well, we'll send another technician out to fix your washer.” They couldn't tell what company did it because at this particular time, they had two different companies that were documented that came out to work on my washing machine. For the most part, the customer service has been horrible over the last four years.

    In the beginning, my experience with AHS was not good. The beginnings are rocky and I even had a person on our neighborhood app mention it. I told them I'm giving it a couple of chances because I think it's not the company itself, it's the first providers they sent out. But then, six months later, it didn't work again.

    The guy came and he said it was a different contractor that had been here before and he said that the heat exchanger was bad and that it was cracked.     AHS is a great plan for getting things repaired and taken care of. Requesting service has been a good process. It usually takes a day or two for the repair company to get there. But none of the repairs that I've had to have done had me in a dire straits situation where it had to be done right that minute. So, that has worked out. The warranty covers all of my electrical, washer, dryer, stove refrigerator, and air conditioning system. The price has gone up twice in the three years that we've had it and that's the only thing I have a problem with because the first year, we had no repairs. And then the next year, it went up.

    I see American Home Shield as like a dispatch. So, talking to the individuals on the phone, everything was good with that. I get the best deal, but not the best quality. And the cheaper that they got under the contract, they take advantage of that. I had American Home Shield before in my rental property. The problem that I had with it is they kept on sending people out to fix my air conditioner and it was band-aids in it every year. The amount of money I spent in it, I could have bought a new AC unit. Before I sold that home, it went out again. It went out every year. And I said, "Just go ahead. Don't even worry about it. Replace the whole thing." And I got a discount. But I rather had just done that in the beginning than having them band-aid it. The company told me that they could fix it but it was hazardous because it was leaking antifreeze.

    My first claim this time was I had a pipe leak. So, I looked it up. The contractor came out, did the inspection. I already knew the leak was outside because I checked with the water service. I wish AHS would have let me know that, if there's a leak on the outside, they don't do it. I just bought the house, moving in in January. I didn't think I would have an issue. So, when the people from Prime came, it took them a week or two to come back. My bill is still going up because of the water leaking, but they haven't turned in the report for them to make the claim or for them to go any further.

    So, they came out, did the work, fixed everything, and I called them back. And when they did, and I told them once they fixed the line, the zone in the front yard didn't work anymore. I called them, they said they would call me, figure out what was going on, and they would call me back. The weekend passed, I called them that Monday but no one called me back. I said, "I wait on y'all and you didn't call back." "The guy didn't mess with that zone in the front yard," which I understood. "No, you didn't mess with that zone in the front yard. But after you fixed my line, y'all probably hit a line or something, mess up something, causing that zone to go out." So they said, "We're gonna give you a call back." But they didn't.

    Thursday, when I called them back, they told me they wouldn't be able to get here until after the 16th. But before they did anything, I needed to call the water service and have them come out. I said, "What's wrong is the water is on my side, not the city side." So, I ended up calling somebody else and they are supposed to come out and work. If anything, they didn't do anything wrong and they told me what was wrong. I was, "If nothing was wrong, then that's business for you, then you can fix it when you come back."

    On another claim, AHS replaced the garbage disposal. After the tech put it up, my dishwasher started leaking. I just did some research on my own. He forgot to knot the little cap out for the water to drain from the dishwasher into the garbage disposal. That is something an expert is supposed to be able to do. I would have ended up calling AHS to come fix my problem. I would have been out another $100 just to call AHS and tell them about my dishwasher leaking out.

But generally, they've been responsive. I like the proactive emails I get regarding the claim. I had somebody come in and take care of our air conditioner and do some preseason service to it.     I go online when I submit a service request with AHS. I tried to call but I never could get through. They always have a long wait. But it works for me. It's so easy to go and put my address in. I already have the app on my phone. Then, I call them within a day or so and within 24 hours, someone is contacting me, telling me they're gonna come out.

    Our washer went out then our dryer went out next. The claim for the dryer was done quickly and efficiently. However, the washer claim took some time because of things not being in stock. American Home Shield ended up giving more from the original amount that they had offered. If I ordered one through them, they ended up upping that because of things being out of stock. We were able to get one but we were without a washer for three or four weeks. That was longer than we would have liked, but I'm not sure how much of that was in their control.

    The contractors that have come out for these last two things have been wonderful. It was A&E Appliance. Sometimes you hear nightmares of having crummy people come out with different home warranty places. But we've had great, knowledgeable people come out.     AJS Services is the best. I don't want anybody else to work on my stuff. I had two claims with them. NI had a leak in my basement, in my air handler. The problem was the air handler was a 1988 model. They came out and had to put a new air handler in. After they put the air handler in, I couldn't get my heat pump to work right. They came out and found that the reversing valve was bad. It's a 1998 model also and they repaired it. I would never think about not having American Home Shield. I have two houses, and it's in both of them. It's not expensive and they handle everything. There are a lot of people I know that have bought American Home Shield because I told them to.

    We sold our home and moved out, so obviously we don't need and can't possibly use this policy, yet they are charging us a cancellation fee. Essentially, they are charging us for a service they are not providing. Their excuse is that it's "in the contract". The policy was originally chosen by the people who sold us the house, so we didn't have any choice based on what was in the contract. I notice that whenever someone posts a negative review, they apologize, but don't do anything to remedy the situation. There are other home protection companies available. I've dealt with them at other homes, and much preferred them in terms of both service and attitude.

    There was no hot water. I went back and looked at the hot water heater and there was water. It wasn't leaking, but it was wet in the tray. The breaker was still on, but the water heater wasn't heating up. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a guy. He determined that the internals of it had burst and the heating element had gotten wet and shorted it out. American Home Shield ordered another water heater and the guy came back and fixed us all up. It went flawless. We had to call American Home Shield two different times. One time, we had a natural gas leak underneath the oven. That was just two or three weeks ago, which made me feel guilty about having to call them a second time on the water heater.     The washer acted up. It was a spin cycle thing pump that had to be replaced. A guy came in and fixed it. He did a great job. We also had a claim for a leak coming in the bathroom. The plumber came out and he looked in the crawlspace and said it was a leaking pipe. He said he repaired it. He did a decent job. But days later, we still kept getting water on the bathroom floor.     American Home Shield is fantastic. We had another warranty company before them that didn't do anything. With American Home Shield, anytime we have a problem, they're right there to fix it for us. They work to try to help the people that have an issue with something that needs to be repaired in a home. We've had them out to look at and repair our furnace. It couldn't be repaired so they replaced it. Recently, I had problems with my washing machine. They couldn't be repaired so they're replacing it. They also took care of some plumbing that we had problems with. For the washing machine, they sent somebody out who didn't even look at it. He said we had a problem with too much soap.     We had American Home Shield at the last home that we owned. When we sold the home, we got rid of it. So, when we bought our new home in 2019, we went back to them again because they’ve always been good with us. They’re reliable.     I feel more comfortable having contractors come by because I know that American Home Shield follows-up and they make sure the technician does it right. Plus, they're certified. If you want to see that they're certified, they'll show you a card that shows that they're certified and trained to do what they do. I've had better experiences with them than other people. Because sometimes I've tried to go outside the network to get things fixed. And I ended up just not hiring somebody because they wanted to do something that was destructive to the property.

    The contractor came out here and fixed the problem. Sand got into the motor. The unit started working again perfectly. It went by good. The last time, there was a problem with the washer. Something with the motor. I thought it was going out. The first time the contractor came out, they said to record it so I could show them what was going on. So I did, and the tech said it was the motor going out.

    The second time they came out, they said there was nothing wrong with it. He showed it to somebody else, and this other person looked at it. They inspected the washer and they said there's nothing going on with the washer that they could see that was wrong. But during the couple of times it hiccuped where it would fill up with water, in a certain cycle, it would stop. And it would start up again. But it would start up later than it should. It would make a humming noise. They said it could have been just old. And they just make noises or they do what they do when they get older. It would start up and stop. But now, it's working fine. Other than that, I had a good experience overall. I'm satisfied with AHS. If they can't do something, they explain why they can't do it. There are certain things that they can't cover, but there are a lot of things they do.

    My refrigerator door has a flap when you open the left side of it that connects into the door to seal it. The spring was broken on the flap. I called in to report the claim and when the representative completed the claim, she asked me to take my phone and she videod the problem that I was having on the refrigerator door. She also videoed the model and serial number on the inner right-hand side of the refrigerator inside. She told me that they would submit that to Stephen's Appliance so they would know exactly what they're coming out for.

    American Home Shield sent Royal Flush to do my AC tune-up. They were good. They explained what they were doing. Initially, it was great. They were knowledgeable but not talking around us and not trying to sell us a whole bunch of stuff we didn't need. But then, they did sell us on a couple of overflow buttons, knobs, and something for the upstairs. Then they installed them incorrectly. Now, we have a huge leak into the overflow pans, and it's leaking outside the house now.

    I contacted AHS about it four times. I talked to Royal Flush twice. When I spoke to them this morning, they said that they needed a work order. So, then I called AHS back. By the time AHS reached out to them or got me situated to have somebody come back and fix it, Royal Flush said they're no longer taking work orders. So, I've got to wait on another AC company to come out. This is the second time I've had some sort of issue with a claim. Trying to get the issue resolved is time-consuming, and I can never get ahold of a supervisor. I get told the same thing over and over again.

    Having my American Home Shield warranty is a benefit. With me being the age I am, I can't go out and shop and do the things that I used to do for myself. I like them a lot. I only had one bad experience with them, and that was when I went about three weeks without hot water. I had to find my own plumber. They said they didn't have anyone in my area and I had a bad experience with the lady that was helping me. She kept telling them that I was rejecting the help. She was just not understanding me. I wish that I didn't have to run into this, but I know I got no control over that.

    Mr. Appliance had to come out recently. They're perfect. I love them. AHS constantly tried to fix my dryer. They waste money and their time. It was not repairable. But Mr. Appliance was good. Their guy said they have to follow a protocol and try to fix it first. He never said anything negative. He just said, “We gotta do what we're told to do.” He said, “Obviously, you're absolutely right. We can't fix it. But this is what they want us to do.” He tried everything and it still wouldn’t work. He finally said, “Hey, I'm just about to let them know it can’t be fixed ‘cause it keeps doing the same thing.” He worked with me.

    There's a company that American Home Shield uses out of Louisiana, and I had a bad experience with them when they delivered my washer. I had to ask the guy to leave the premises. He threatened me. I almost had to call the police. AHS is sending that same company back out here again and I told them about it today. They were like, “Well, if you have another bad experience with it...” I was like, “Why would he have to come back to my house?” I talked to the lady at AHS today. I was told that sometimes they have a problem getting ahold of them too. When they came out, they were in a rental truck. The tech set my washer under the carport and left it. I had to pay $180 for someone to come in and bring my washer in the house because my hands are still twisted. I couldn’t do anything. Still, overall, American Home Shield does stand up to what they say.

    American Home Shield follows through with everything that needs to be done. There were a couple of times that they couldn’t provide stuff, like the septic tank stuff, and they couldn't find a company so I had to find a company then they reimbursed me. They did that quickly. Other than that, it’s been good. They answer the phone well and they follow up with the company. The company calls quickly and the job gets done quickly too.

    I had on a tech that was a young short girl. She could not even reach the filters if she had to change them. I know they were supposed to change the filters but I didn't have any for one part. I told her not to worry about it. I didn't look over her shoulder so I'm assuming she tuned it up okay. But it says in the checklist that they're supposed to wash the unit outside. I don't think she did that.

    This was the house from hell when we first bought it. We had trouble with the refrigerator, the stove, and the air conditioner three or four times. When we had an issue with not getting suction in our pool, a guy came out, took a look at it, and everything seemed to be okay. He gave my husband some information on what to do moving forward before we had to call in and it was really good information that he provided. The guy was great.

    We had one issue with a contractor years ago. What he said needed to be repaired didn't necessarily need to be repaired and he put a bid in for some equipment. This was for our air conditioner. American Home Shield sent somebody else out right away who was a million times better. This second guy said, "Everything's great. This is all we need to do."     Having American Home Shield, I like how quickly an issue gets addressed. Everything's good as far as the communication and the efficiency in getting somebody out. However, the contractor has been out twice and still haven't got the problem with the AC resolved. They've replaced the part and it's still messed up. It doesn’t blow. I have two units in my house, and the one upstairs is fine. The one that's messed up is my downstairs unit. The problem with that is that downstairs unit is the big one.

    The inside unit is in the attic and the first guy that came out was determined to tell me that it was the unit that was in the closet. The next time before the other guy came out with the part, I turned off the AC upstairs and kicked on the one downstairs. Sure enough, it was the unit that's in the attic. He went up there briefly and said everything was fine. I kind of feel bad because they replaced the part on the outside but it's still not turning on so I don't know if it's something up there. The guy who came out was cool. He did the job. The initial issue was I didn't have an option to put on my AC on on my thermostat. He told me it was the configuration. He said it was a coding error in the thermostat and he managed to get it back on quickly.     American Home Shield's service has been good so far. I don't have to look for any contractor so when I call in, they find one and that's the most advantageous to me. I also know how much I'm spending in terms of the deductible so I can plan accordingly. If something goes wrong, they will take care of it. I recently had an issue with my ceiling fan. I called AHS and they sent somebody. Getting to them was difficult and I got an appointment after a few days. Once they came in, they were very professional and proficient. They couldn't fix the unit and they ended up replacing it. That was a good experience.

    I have come across a couple of bad incidents as well. AHS always sends us a thing for a free air conditioner checkup or free heating checkup before the season. That costs $75 which is fine. But if something is wrong, they open another service call and take another deductible. I strongly believe there should not be another deductible. If there is a repair cost that is not covered, customers are happy to pay. But since techs came and checked, that should be covered under that service request. Also, if I call them for any billing questions, it's a nightmare and I never get any solutions. For a duplicate charge, I called them seven times and I ended up paying them because it was not worth my time. That’s the one thing I would like AHS to improve on.

    For two weeks, American Home Shield lied to me. During the first time, they said, “Oh, I'll send an email of what you need.” Then I said, “I’m gonna stay on the phone so I’ll get the email.” But I was told that it would take 24 hours and that they would have to send it to their manager, and then their manager would approve it. I didn't like that, but I waited 24 hours. I called them back the next day. The next person that got on the phone told me, “No, he was wrong. It’s a 48-hour wait before we can get the email sent to you.” Then two weeks later, nothing came. I asked them for a receipt of every hundred dollar service that came. Their customer service is the absolute worst of any company I have ever spoken to in my life.

    American Home Shield doesn’t give me receipts for what they charge me. They don't tell me that they have been out there or leave any kind of information as to the date, the company names, the things that were fixed, the things that weren't fixed, or things that need to be fixed that you will have to pay for. No details whatsoever. I have to beg them for these for tax purposes. It is insane.

    When I call American Home Shield to get a live human being, it can take up to 45 minutes and that's a major problem. I give American Home Shield the note of what the contractor is coming out for, but when the contractor comes, they didn’t write down everything I told them. Then the tech is not allowed to do anything that's not already marked on the order. I don’t even get a copy of that order when completed. It’s a real nightmare. As soon as I finalize whatever I have to finalize, I'm canceling American Home Shield and rating them horribly all over social media.

    I filed a claim recently with AHS. It was relatively quick and easy. My refrigerator went out. They had the service tech come out to see if it could be repaired, but it could not. They provided the process to go to their appliance portal in hopes of getting a similar refrigerator. From what was available, I didn't see any in stock that was readily available. Because my refrigerator was the only one for the home, I needed one that day. I ended up having to go to one of our local appliance stores to get a refrigerator instead. They notified me that the payment would take about 21 days, so we're still within that 21-day period. Up until this point, I've been rather pleased with the support I received thus far.     The tech came out for my busted AC. He was professional. He actually texted me 50 minutes ahead of time and he told me he was on his way. When he got here, he walked right in and I took him to the unit. Once he was there, he explained to me what was the issue and what was covered. It took him less than an hour to get it all done. I also had a plumbing claim and it took a little bit longer because the plumber didn't have the right parts. So he had to order the parts and then he had to come back the next day. I called Connie from American Home Shield and got a call back from their people who work in the Philippines, which is not what I'm used to after 12 years of working AHS. But got the thing done, and I got a call from Sears. It was a sharp lady that has been doing it for 12 years, training a gentleman who seemed sharp.     My electrical panel needed to be replaced. The first company that American Home Shield assigned to the claim never came. They never called to schedule an appointment. Deltex was the second company that they had and they came out two days after. It took about an hour for them to diagnose the problem, and then the new panel wasn't available until that following Monday. So then on Monday, the tech came out and replaced the whole panel for me. He was wonderful. I like American Home Shield for the warranty that they provide for my home.     Having American Home Shield, I don't have to look for somebody. I just call them up and they always send qualified people. Once in a while, they'll send a lowball guy, like a local guy that's not really a dealer repairman,. He comes in and says, "I don't know what's wrong with it." But then American Home Shield always sends somebody better. So that's okay. When the microwave went out, they sent a factory repairman type out and he said it had to be replaced. So a truck brought the new microwave and they sat it on the floor in the dining room. I had to call back American Home Shield and asked them who was going to put it in. That was when they sent out the next guy and he did a great job. I've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and they keep raising the minimum for the call out. It used to be 45 bucks, then it went 50 and 75. Now, it's 100.

    Our garage door wouldn’t open. The techs came out one day and then came out again to make the repair. It was really fast. We also did a stove and that was really fast, too. Recently, I have a double oven and the lower oven wasn't working. They came out and said they needed something and extra people.     I have American Home Shield in two states and Oklahoma, and I have homes in Arizona. My service has been hot and cold. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes, I have some outstanding work orders that were filed in February, they're still not resolved. The Arizona seems to not want to approve much. So, they get back to me quick and tell me why they do not approve it. But the Oklahoma experience is they approve a lot, but getting it resolved is the issue, getting the parts or getting the replacement funds actually sent because they have to send me an email approving it, then I send in my receipts. And I am sent after a certain time over to Asia so I have Asian people answering the phone, who don't seem to understand what the company is about and it's hard to understand what they were saying, and they couldn't understand me.

    But once I fight through all of that, in Oklahoma, I'm happy with the resolution. They've been fair about supporting me with getting the appliance replaced or repaired, but it takes so long. Whereas my Arizona experience, I'm not sure what I'm getting for my monthly fee because it seems nothing is ever covered. There's a small percentage of things that they will cover, but I would go out of pocket and pay vendors. So, it's interesting. But it's the same company.

    I've had American Home Shield for eight years and they're responsive. I appreciated that. They're good about coming out repairing. We had a dryer repaired, a stove repaired, and things that kept us from having to replace them. I'm fine with that. American Home Shield swore to me that if the contractor says something needs to be replaced, then they would replace it. In the end, they don't pay for anything. I was paying American Home Shield $50, to begin with. It's now $62. I paid $125 for the service call for a tech to come out. This warranty has not paid off for itself. I had a claim for our HVAC and it's been back and forth with them. Everything that's needed to be repaired on the unit has to be covered out of pocket. We didn't even go with the company that was brought out by American Home Shield.

    My husband said, "AHS is only gonna give us X amount of dollars." They just keep wanting to repair it. When I called to cancel, the rep said, "Let me send out a different tech and give us a chance." I heard her out and agreed but it was the same thing. They said they didn't cover that. It was just frustrating. My system is old but we've maintained it. We have everything serviced and I take care of stuff. I get my dryer vents vacuumed out by a professional company every year.

    With regard to the AC, I was explaining to the rep that the reason I am coming back to them about the issue was that it's the same repair that keeps being done or it's a similar repair from an older part that's in it. It's thousands of dollars worth of Freon that I have to put in every year. I put another $2,000 into the unit. I've paid for the cost of half of the AC unit or almost the whole AC unit when I'm thinking of the cost. I'm including the furnace, too.

    That aside, the techs that came were good. They're known to be more of a, "We're here to fix it, not to replace it." That's the problem. The first technician that came out said, "You guys absolutely need to replace that. That's what I'm gonna put in the notes." I said I was fine with repairing the unit but the problem I have was that it keeps leading back to the same issue. We've had several contractors for HVAC come out and they said that with the number of things that needed to replace in here, it was just going to be the same problem over and over.

    I said to the second contractor that came in, "You're our fourth person in here, not including the people that we have regularly service it every year, like cleaning and all that. I would love to hear your feedback on what you think is wrong with the system. But I'll tell you right now, we've been told by four different companies, we have a leak and that it doesn't matter how much Freon they put in, it's still going to have a leak. We can replace the coil, we can replace all these different things. But it's basically like rebuilding the whole unit, which makes absolutely no sense." We just had our HVAC replaced today. As boring as it is, read your policy. I read mine very well and it seemed like the stuff that American Home Shield "won't cover" is to the point of, how would a consumer know that that's even a normal part that would need to be replaced? I don't understand the loopholes because pretty much nothing is covered.

    The service of AHS has been good so far. For the things that we have had to use it for, they've been quick to respond and get people out here. Air Designs AC & Heating recently came out. The tech was really nice and on time. They called and said when he was going to be here and then gave us a 30-minute time window, to let us know when he was on his way. He checked out everything. There was a follow-up that we had to do on a repair that needed to be done that he didn't catch, but I don't know if it's something that was even included in his tune-up coverage. It so happened that it was right after he came that we had to call in for something else. But I don't think the two were related. He probably just didn't look at whatever the problem was. It was internal.

    The service request that I did the second time was online and that was really easy. The contractor that they used sent me a text and said, “We'll let you know when we’re coming.” They sent me another text to let me know and asked me to confirm if that was a good time.     It’s the second time I had called American Home Shield out to fix something and it worked good both times. I had the leaky faucet and a toilet that was running and needed that part replaced in the tank. I told the plumbing company in advance that I had some new carpet and I wanna make sure that the plumber wouldn't be walking across it with shoes. They said he'd already been told about that.

    American Home Shield seems like a good idea. However, my experience just hasn't been the best. I thought I had water leaking in my bathroom because the pipes made a noise. Apparently, it was just the pipe. When the guy came out, that's what he said. When the water runs in the sink or if they flush the toilet upstairs, it sounded like dripping inside of the wall. So, my initial call to AHS was to have them come out and check that for me. When Josh came from Water Control Plumbing, he said, "There's no issue. However, I can make sure just to ease your mind." He put a hole in the wall above the tub to show me that the pipes weren't leaking. And I said, "Okay, that's fine." So, they had another person come out the very next day in order to patch the hole. Days later, I saw a water spot on my ceiling. I called back and it was a recall.

    I was told by the person whom I spoke to on the phone, "This is just a recall since it's the same room. You won't be charged." I said, "Perfectly fine." They came out once again. There was no issue. So, I thought I was done with it. I received an email a week later saying that AHS received a request for service. I instantly called and said I didn't make that call. When I asked what was going on, they said, "We received your request for this service call." I said, "I don't know what this is about. I don't know what's going on with this. I didn't make the call. No one is authorized to make the call in my home except for me." So, they canceled that one. The last person I spoke to said it was April 29th.

    On May 1st, I got another email for the same thing, "We received your request for service." I once again did not make that request. So, I called again and said, "I thought my account was supposed to be investigated or whatever because, apparently, someone is making requests on my behalf. It was not me. I don't have a reason at this point because they told me nothing is leaking." They said someone named Mr. ** called. But there's no Mr. ** here. The only Mr. ** is my father. He lives in Missouri. So, I don't understand why.

    I called back because I saw that it was a $100 debit being taken from my account. I said, "There's no one who is supposed to come out. I called to have the thing canceled. Can you guys issue me a refund?" That was last week. They said it would take three business days for it to be refunded. I said, "Okay, fine." So, I called again today after noticing that it wasn't refunded. They said, "Sean from Water Control said he came out." I asked when. They said May 1st. So, I called to have the thing canceled. Why would he still come out and why would AHS still charge me?

    The biggest issue has been sometimes we would get assigned a contractor that doesn't respond at all. We've had that happen a couple of times. And that has been problematic, because we would get a message saying, "Oh, the contractor contacted you. And they didn't get ahold of you, so they didn't set up an appointment." But it would be false. Nobody has reached out. I've given American Home Shield feedback via the website when we get a review thing. But that has been the most challenging part with them.

    Sometimes, that has been emergency situations, like here in Florida, with the air conditioner going out. We have an elderly person here on hospice. And I've said, "Hey, you can't just assign me a contractor that won't reach out and is non-responsive." There was a company who wasn't even open, because when we tried to contact them directly, nobody picked up the phone. That's my biggest issue with them.

    AHS needs to update their list of contractors more frequently or hold them to a different standard. Because if these are folks that aren't replying or reaching out to the consumer to get the service set up, that's a problem, especially if it's something emergent, like air conditioning in Florida in the middle of the summer. That's a life-or-death situation with the heat index here. It's not like a washing machine. So, they need to be more vigilant, and certainly the communication with the contractor. Because if AHS sends me a message saying, "Your contractor has been contacted. Oh, they didn't reach you, so we canceled the order," but nobody has reached out, so they shouldn't cancel the order. That has been a cause of grief for us with them.

    The coverage is good. I appreciate when the contractors come out, the stuff that they cover. But our recent experience was annoying. We ended up having to find our own contractor to come and fix the issue and pay out of pocket. It's just getting folks that actually can come out and do the work. We're still with our contract. We don't wanna cancel it, but they can do better.

    When the reps delivered the item, my shutoff valve was broken, so they were unable to install it the same day. They asked me to fix it with the help of a plumber and asked me to call American Home Shield so someone can come and install it. So, I called them and they assigned a technician. I asked him to come by Thursday and he said he would check his schedule and let me know. I’m not staying in this home and I came here and waited for him. I called him and he said that he couldn’t come but he would come the next day. He told me that he would call me and let me know but he didn't do that. And he said he was not doing my install and he was going to cancel it. I immediately called American Home Shield and asked for them to open another work order for me so they could reassign that to the other technician. They said they didn't get the chance to find one for me.

    The installation is not finished yet and AHS is telling me that they are still looking for the technician to assign for my work order. It would be helpful if they can complete it. My other experiences with AHS are okay. I had to call a couple of times but they are working fine and the things are completed. So as long my work is completed, I’m good.

    We had some issues with the garbage disposal in our sink leaking, and the tech came and quickly diagnosed it. The garbage disposal was significantly loose, and he tightened it. It was a quick task for him. He also confirmed that there was nothing else wrong, and since then, we haven't seen any leaks. It was good. We like American Home Shield’s service.     American Home Shield sent MJS for the air conditioner that was not working. It's all repaired now. The other people that were here before didn't know what they were doing and they messed it all up. They just connected some wires wrongly and then they came back. Then, when I called to repair this, AHS wouldn't honor it because it said they were gone too long. So, I had to pay AHS again and somebody came out and fixed it. The first people that AHS sent out were no good, but MJS was pretty good.

    I had a claim for my icemaker and AAR worked with me till they got it right. With the icemaker, a big block of ice was causing the jam in it. The tech came out twice and tried to get the icemaker loose and I appreciated him coming back out. The ice hadn't defrosted overnight and they had to order a small heater and replace that in order for my ice to slow. Finally, I got ice again. He was very patient and understanding. He explained everything. He even pulled it up on the screen and on the internet. He was an awesome person.

    But I was pretty salty with American Home Shield because I kept reaching out to them for a claim. My drain was stopped up and it was more than just a regular stoppage. I called and called and I had to get the supervisor. They kept putting me off. But in the end, they got a serviceman out. The tech knew his stuff. He had to come out two or three times too but he kept on till he got it fixed. Everything is working perfectly and I appreciate it.

    I had the dishwasher installed and I had problems with the first people who came out to install it. They said they couldn't install it because they couldn't turn the pipe to unloose it from the hose to install the new one. American Home Shield sent out another company, Book's Appliance Repair. The tech did a great job. All he did was turn it, take one part off, put the other part in and install the dishwasher. He cleaned up behind himself and I was very pleased with him. I just had to pay $125 for them to come out and check it to see what the problem was. I’ve always had a warranty and it has very good having AHS.

    You have peace of mind when you have a home warranty, especially when there are unexpected bills. Breakdowns happen all the time. AHS has always been good with their service and reasonable with their prices. For a claim I had, I got online then I called because I wasn't sure if it went through or not. My washing machine is a little over a year old and my warranty ran out. It's just me and my wife, so it's not like we do a ton of laundry. I had AHS so I called them and they sent a guy out promptly.

    He was professional and he knew what the problem was right away. It’s just simply a filter. He took it off, cleaned it, and said, “No charge.” He noticed that I had pretty much new appliances and he explained to me how dangerous a dryer is if it's not cleaned out. He took the lint trap off and vacuumed it all out. He also helped me with a couple of other things and it cost me 50 bucks for a service repair on that. He was in and out of there. We have a two-door refrigerator. We forgot how to get the glass out to clean it. He looked it up and showed us how it was done. And it’s done.

    Most of the vendors don't like American Home Shield so it's hard to get a service person out to your area. We have had to get people from Sacramento because nobody local will work with them. We live in Chico and Sacramento is an hour and a half from us. We never had bad incidents with them but there was one guy they kept sending for our electrical or refrigerator and stove. And I told them time and time again that I did not want this vendor coming. They kept telling me they didn’t have any other vendors in the area and I have to have them. I said that I didn't want this guy. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's outdated, very rude and condescending.

    It took about seven phone calls and a month and a half before AHS could send me another vendor. It was terrible. He argued with me that he knows what he's doing and that he fixed my refrigerator door. But he didn’t. It was still doing the same thing. He said he fixed it. And it's been very frustrating working with the vendors because the vendors that will use them aren’t professional or adequate. But the one thing I like with AHS is they offer free AC tune-up for the year. So that’s nice with them. We got our AC checked on and cleaned and ready for the new year.

    My experience was horrible. A technician from A-US Air came out one day and diagnosed the issue to be my inside unit. They said what needed to be done and that it would be no cost to me. A couple of days later American Home Shield, called me and reviewed with me my out of pocket cost. They indicated all the issues that needed to be done per the agreement and what I was responsible for. I told the rep it sounded like they were revising my outside unit as well and the rep said yes. I told him that was not what the guy told me when he came and diagnosed the inside unit. The rep said, "This is what we have here. This is your cost and we can't move forward until you agree." I told him I was gonna agree to the charges because I needed my unit on.

    After doing the agreement, I was told that they were going to contact this guy, Kenny, with A-US Air so he would know that I have agreed and we could proceed. It took weeks before American Home Shield had the agreement in their possession. Every day I was calling. A-US Air said I needed to agree to the charges. I'd call American Home Shield and they'd say, "We have already told them we were going to pay our portion, and you have agreed to your portion." That went on day after day. I was making four to five calls a day between American Home Shield and A-US Air. I finally asked someone with American Home Shield if they could send me another contractor and she said they couldn't because A-US Air already came out and did the job.

    I called A-US Air and as soon as they got my name and address, they automatically transferred me to Kenny. I asked if there was anybody else that I could talk to other than Kenny because Kenny was not returning the call. I left six messages on his voicemail. That went on and on until I spoke with American Home Shield. They said they spoke with A-US Air and A-US Air was going to give me a call within 24 hours. I asked, "Ma'am, are they open on Saturday? Today is Friday. We need to know whether I'm gonna have air and when." She said, "According to our records, your service should be installed Monday, the 9th."

    Early that Monday morning, I called A-US Air. They sent me to Kenny's voicemail again. I called A-US air again. That time, they said, "If you would like to leave us a text message, we will respond." I sent a text message thinking someone would get back to me but there was no response. I called American Home Shield again. That time, I got the most helpful young lady. Her name was Shay, and she called A-US air. She asked to speak to someone, and the lady said, "Let me connect you to Kenny." Shay told her, "We don't want to talk to Kenny because the customer has left numerous messages on Kenny's machine. Kenny is not returning any calls." The lady said she'd connect Shay to Chuck. Shay waited for the connection to Chuck but didn't get a response for seven minutes.

    Shay told me the rep either disconnected or she had her on an extended hold. She said they were leaving her no choice but to file a complaint because they were not operating business the way American Home Shield expects them to operate. But before she would do that, she called one last time and spoke with somebody named Cheryl. She told Cheryl the extent of my calls and that I had been waiting right into day 15. Shay also told Cheryl they needed someone from A-US Air to call me back. If not, they would have no choice but to file a complaint. Cheryl took that information down and told Shay she would send it to someone and if we did not hear back from them, to call them back.

    Later on that afternoon, someone texted me and said, "Hi, this is Keith. I'm returning the text message." Right after he sent me the text message, he called and asked, "What can I help you with?" I said, "Can you start by reviewing the notes that's been going on for about 15 days." Then he said he could get somebody out for me on Friday. This was Tuesday. On Thursday, Chuck called me and said, "Hi, this is Chuck. I just got a message that said for me to call." I said, "Chuck, that message probably went to you on Monday. Keith called me on Tuesday and had set an appointment for me tomorrow." He said, "It doesn't matter who set the appointment as long as we are gonna get you taken care of tomorrow. Did he tell you how much you owe?" I said, "I've been told for the last 15 days I owe 2475. I'll write you guys to check. But can someone give me a detailed listing of what I'm paying 2475 for?" He said, "I can send it to you now."

    He sent it to me and as I was reviewing it, I asked what the actual bill was and if it was for my inside unit and outside unit. He said they were just doing my inside unit. I told him the man from American Home Shield said it was the inside and out. He said the rep from American Home Shield didn't know what he was talking about. They got this bid rolled up where American Home Shield was paying a portion and I was paying a portion, and they got American Home Shield thinking it was the inside and out. Yet, he was saying American Home Shield didn't know what they were talking about.

    I had a client in my office when he called me and he said, "Let me call my air conditioning man. Let me see if he's available to go out and at least give you another diagnosis." He called his air conditioning guy and asked if he could come out to my house and see if he could put some refrigerant in my unit. The guy came out and checked the inside unit. He asked, "Where's your leak? Who told you you had a leak in your unit? What did he show?" He took out the core and said, "I don't see any refrigerant stains." He was all in the unit and I told him that guy who initially came didn't do that. He said, "If he didn't do that, how did he know that the leak is here? Where is your outside unit?" I told him it was around the patio. He went and looked at the outside unit. Then he came back and said, "Ma'am, your leak is on your outside unit. There's nothing wrong with your inside unit."

    These people from A-US Air were coming in the morning to change out my inside unit and there was not an issue there. My son asked how much would the new guy charge me to fix the outside unit. He said $2,500. I got to pay $2,500 to fix the outside and $2,475 to fix the inside, but they were not gonna work together because the refrigerant is different. It was gonna be at my advantage to change some bolts, which is $5,500. I asked when could he get it done. He said he could be back the next day afternoon. I told him I would pay him $5,500 to come and fix my unit because we had no other choice. The inside had to be correlated to the outside for it to work properly. I called American Home Shield and told the lady exactly what happened. I also told her I was going to file a complaint against American Home Shield and A-US Air.

    The icemaker would make ice but it wouldn't dispense. The unit inside of the icemaker operates and turns the blades that will allow the ice to dispense and because the tray was cracked where the blades will turn, the blades would grind into the plastic. It would sometimes dispense plastic shavings in the ice. After a while, it got to the point where it didn't want to turn at all because it had gotten stuck. So the whole entire container that held the ice had to be replaced. It's working beautifully now. We have had American Home Shield for a long time and every time we call them, they give us excellent service. They get the best individuals or the best companies that they feel can handle the job. It's a wonderful company and we never have a problem with it at all.

    American Home Shield has been here for a variety of my appliances and whenever I call them, it's a simple fix and they initiate the work order. I call the contractor and they make an appointment with me, and they come out when they say they're going to and do the work they're going to do. So, I'm happy with them. I don't know what I would do without AHS. I started with my air conditioner and then, they did my washing machine. Then, they did my dryer, the dishwasher and now, the hot water heater. They also did some plumbing and some electrical work. In the last plumbing claim, my hot water heater exploded and I got a brand new one installed.     The warranty’s been fine but I don't think the customer service has been that great in this last experience. There was lack of communication. I had an inspection come out for our air conditioning unit for the spring. The technician that came out was phenomenal. He explained a lot of things that we didn't understand. He talked about what he expected to be next steps. He didn't promise anything but was thorough and patient. I highly recommend him. He told me that one of the units went bad and couldn't be fixed.

    When I called two days later to American Home Shield, they said it was denied and that there was an invoice due for $2,500 that would have to be paid in order to get the work done. I told them I would be happy to do that if I needed to but the case was closed. I asked if somebody could send me the invoice of what was expected and they said yes, they could email it to me. I never received the email. I waited 24 hours to call back. The next person could not send me an email. They could mail it. I never received anything and to this day, I have not received anything in an email.

    I contacted the contractor to see what they could do. They said they could go back to American Home Shield and follow up. They eventually got it worked and we're going to have the air conditioning replaced, which is great. I recommend the warranty. It's nice to have it in case when I need it. But American Home Shield probably needs to find a better outlet to get customer service. I understand certain situations happen and not every agent knows every detail, but the first line of defense in their customer service seems to lack a significant amount of insight and knowledge either about the business or the client.

A guy came out and saw that the faucet was leaking but said he didn't know where the water was coming from. He didn't stay here long enough to find out. It was 20 minutes at the most. I had to call a plumber to come out because it would have messed up my kitchen cabinets plus floors. The guy came out and found exactly what it was. He took the time and found out where it was coming from. I used to have American Home Shield years ago when I was in my other home. They replaced the washing machine for me. They also replaced a stove. I haven't had that problem with them. If they couldn't fix an item, they replaced it.

    The plumber came out to fix the stoppage in my pipelines going outside. He tried to snake it from the inside of my sink and from my shower. After five minutes, he said he couldn’t get it. I asked him what we needed to do in order for him to be able to get it. But he said, “I've already been paid for this service.” He then said we needed to find our clean-out. I asked him where was the clean-out normally located and he said it was in the backyard. Then he walked around the yard and he said, “Well, you don't have one, so you'll have to call somebody else to do it.” Then he left. But it was not resolved.

    I saw a water supply guy in my neighborhood and asked him if my house has a clean-out and he said it does. So I came back to my house and located the clean-out. Then I called American Home Shield and told them that the plumber came out and left not too long ago, but I've located the clean-out. I said he should come back out and try to fix my problem because I was still having the same situation. American Home Shield said that the plumber wrote in his summary that no clean-out was located and that he couldn’t fix it. So they asked him to resubmit his summary, which I assumed never happened. I had another backup that happened to my house so I had to call and pay again for another plumber to come out.

    When we have a claim with American Home Shield, we just go online and do it. It's easy. We had techs come out and do the free AC inspection. I'm set up for it and they called my wife 10 minutes later. That was pretty fast. Also, we put in one claim work for our dishwasher. Techs came out and they had to order a part and then did a replacement. It actually still wasn't working right but it's not been a problem. They ordered another part and we're waiting on them to get the part in. Everybody's been communicative. I get an email saying that our parts were ordered and they'll schedule to come in as soon as it comes in. American Home Shield has been super-fast and efficient. Everybody's been professional.     We've liked American Home Shield's service so far. We just go online and do our claims, and they send it out to whoever they have that works with them. We had a claim recently on our heat and air unit that had gone out with the motor on the fan thing. The fan apparently was broken, so they had to replace that, too. The tech did a great job. She had to come back because when she got the motor and brought it to put it on, she found out the fan had come apart off of it. So, they had to order another fan but they got that the next day.     I noticed that something wasn't quite right with our AC. We did the annual check-up, and they discovered that it had a leaking coil. We're still waiting on the contractor to receive the part for what we called about and we're without air conditioning, but as far as American Home Shield, they did an excellent job. It's so much easier to get contractors with AHS than with a previous warranty that we had.

    American Home Shield sent us a letter and said the insurance was due, and asked if we wanted to renew it. So, we called them, and we renewed to their better one because we figured it would be a better deal. It was a bit more money. This house that we bought is fairly new. It's only six years old. But stuff goes out. I highly recommend anyone that buys a house to get AHS, especially if they're buying a new one.

    American Home Shield and Victory who came out for an air conditioner problem were both great. Victory was out here fast. It was coming up on a weekend and they actually came out. It was in a day. This air conditioner had an issue last summer, and I used American Home Shield also. The contractor came out and ran some stuff through it and the tech said that the coil was going bad in it and that they have to go through procedures. So, he did whatever he did and sealed it up. It ran for the rest of the summer, and it went back out again. As it started to get warm out here again, I turned the AC back on but it wouldn't. He came back out and said the coil was giving up the ghost. So, he put in the thing to order the new coil and he said it might take a minute because of parts. It might have been a couple of days. He said that AHS decided they wouldn't put a new coil in. They would put a new unit in. So, that's what they did. The tech did a great job.

    American Home Shield is very good compared to others who are on the market. We recently had a pool problem and the guy they sent was easy to work with. He fixed it in a day, too. I like that AHS doesn't scam people. I had another company which is a total scammer, trying to take money out, referring to very small, incorrect contract information. American Home Shield is the best. They're trying to help you. Their cost is higher, but the service is good.

    There were a couple of problems with the dishwasher. It needed a part that was defective. As soon as American Home Shield found out that they couldn't replace the part, they offered me a replacement and gave me a selection to choose from or to take a gift card and do it myself. That was fairly good. I would have liked for them to have given me the option to go pick one out, but I understand how it works. It's been easy to work with everyone though I'm still waiting for the replacement and it's been about four weeks.

    Every time I turned on the water, there was a funny noise under the house and if I turned on both the water and maybe the shower or flush the toilet, there was a noise that was very loud, like a rumbling noise. But it turned out to be the PVC joint or pressure valve. I did the claim online with American Home Shield and the website was very user-friendly. I have my account number so it was easy to access. They pulled up all that information and all you had to do was click on what claim you want to file. It was very workable and easy to get along with the contractor to get the nature of the problem correctly. They were good. I just need to have a little bit more follow-up because they had to come back out again but they didn’t. Somebody from the office could have said that they would get it resolved on that day or that they would be back out.

    I sent in a claim was for my electric range. The burners were not coming on and going off at the proper time. This is the first time I raised a claim, and they were pretty quick about responding to that. When I was not satisfied with the initial contractor, I had to do a little bit of more follow ups, but they did send another technician for a second opinion. He actually figured out what exactly was the issue and he fixed it up for us. But American Home Shield's follow up can be a little bit better. I understand that there needs to be a little bit vetting from a customer's perspective when the customer receives a complaint. But the diagnosis can be a little bit deeper, so that we can avoid the hassle and that I have to do a second follow up. It will save a lot of time on both sides.

    When I first had AHS, I didn't have a really good experience because it was cold and I was waiting on someone to fix my furnace. It took forever for them to assign me someone and for someone to come out. Once they assigned me a contractor, they didn’t come right out and I had to call and explain to them that I have a medical condition and that I needed my utilities to be on. But it didn't make any difference, they still took their time. So, I wasn't happy about that and with AHS. When the techs first came out, they said the issue was not electrical. He said it's not the circuit breaker but the heat. So he had to put it back in and have a furnace person come out. So for me to get this matter taken care of, it took almost four days.

    Other than that, the preseason check up went really well. The guy was on time and I did not have to pay for the service. It was a complimentary thing. AHS assigned it to a contractor who let me know when he would come. He came within the window and contacted me and said he was in the area. He checked the furnace and the filter.

    My microwave went out so I put in a request with American Home Shield. We got assigned a contractor within 15 minutes. Everything was good from there and the microwave got fixed. I also did a service request when I was having a small issue with my stovetop. A guy came in last Tuesday. Every time I turn the unit on, there was an electrical popping. He replaced the switch in it. I hadn't used the stove until this week when I was trying to sanitize my baby's bottles. I turn the eye on and it wouldn't come on. When I moved it, turned the second eye on and moved the pot over, that first eye came on. As I was testing it, the eye would only come on if another eye was on.

    I did a quick Google search. Whenever a new switch gets installed, a lot of times, it’s very easy to bend a wire and that causes the issue. I called American Home Shield today to do a re-call because I didn't think I needed to put in a new ticket since the cause of the issue is from the repair. I was told that I had to do a completely new ticket because it was a different issue so I was a little frustrated. I went online and did it there. I already got the contractor. I didn't open a new ticket so hopefully, I don't get charged for a different issue when the issue is now because of the repair. I haven't heard anything but I've already got an appointment scheduled for them to come out next week to fix it.

    I could not get the dishwasher to turn on and neither could the technician. He did all kinds of things. He had me go get an extension cord. He said it was working. It was getting electricity, but the electricity was not flowing through. He asked were my outlets are. He turned the outlets off then on, and the power came back on. He started the dishwasher up for me. There was also a guy that came out for the disposal and they were both very nice. The disposal was not turning on at all. He took it out and checked it. He said it was dead. He put in another one and it started right up. It was very quiet and nicer than the other one I had. American Home Shield worked good.

    American Home Shield referred me to Budget the first time. I needed a brand-new furnace but this is the first time I ever lived in a mobile home so I was thinking that the furnace and the air conditioning was all in one unit. But it wasn’t. So, they gave me the furnace. Then one day, it got hot and I tried to turn on the air conditioning and nothing came on. So, I called back AHS and they referred me to J and J. The tech came out and explained that the air conditioning was outside and had nothing to do with the furnace. He did what he was supposed to do. He put Freon in the air conditioner and changed the thermostat. So, he did a good job.

    We've been with American Home Shield since we bought our home. And because we have a well pump, we were worried about the expense if that went out. Also, air conditioning. If something big went out, we wanted to have protection so it wasn’t a huge amount of money only from us. We'd rather pay an amount each month and have the protection.

    There was a burner on the stove that was no longer working and it wasn't repairable. There were multiple issues with it. It's a stove that's over 15 years old or less. The contractor had to leave and make phone calls. Also, I haven't been happy with the refrigerator service because it was no longer dispensing water. So, the contractor came out and supposedly repaired it but we started having water leaking out of the bottom of it on our hardwood floor, which is ruining our floor. That didn't start until after they came out to repair the water dispenser. We have never had water coming out of it before.

    The contractor was supposed to come after 3 o'clock in the afternoon. They kept coming before then. And I have no way of getting in touch with anyone to make sure, “Do not come until after 3:00. Because I'm a teacher. I'm not home till after 3:00.” There have been two service calls where they've shown up at 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock, and they were on our front porch, I'm not here, and they just left. And it looks like they submit paperwork as if they did the service call. Because from the emails I get, they look as if they said they were here, but they weren’t. So, we'll try again tomorrow for them to come between 3:00 and 5:00. And once again, I got a message that they would be here between 1:00 and 5:00. So, that’s an ongoing problem. And I am not able to solve it no matter who I call.

    If the customer could have a number to call if anything came up and needed to be changed, that would be very helpful. There's the option to do it through the website. There's a link that you can click on if you want to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If I understood how to give them the reminder, if I could reach a certain department or person who could help me with that, that would be good.

    I've had two claims with AHS. One of them was the water tank heater that was leaking, and the other one is the heater and the air conditioner of the house and that's not done yet. The tech that came for the water heater said that they had to replace it. They asked me for $698 because they had to do changes. They did a good job. But it was really expensive because I didn't have the money. I had to get someone to lend me the money. With the other claim, I'm having big issues. I've been calling AHS a few times. It's been three weeks and I still have no heater and air conditioner. But the tech called me this morning and said they are going to pass tomorrow. Now, I have to get the day off and I'm gonna lose another day of job, stay there in the house and wait for them to do it. But American Home Shield does a great job. The last time that we had a problem, they did it really fast. I've been telling everyone that it’s a good deal to have them.

    I had a bad whole hot water heater. It was leaking water and it had something making a whistling noise. I went online to file a claim to American Home Shield. Their website was okay. I liked it. As far as the contractors, I like them as well. They do pretty well. They do really good business. The tech who came out and looked at the water heater said he’d have to have to replace our water heater and American Home Shield replaced it.

    I just feel that a lot of things about the company like in the policy are not clearly rolled out. I also did a claim for my oven last year. It took almost nine months to a year to get an oven and, finally, they said, “Hey, we can't get one. If you buy one, we’ll reimburse you.” When I bought the oven, at first, they didn't wanna reimburse me but they eventually sent me a check. Overall, AHS has been okay.

    There was some issue with my hot water and United Air Temp diagnosed it and there was a part that was leaking. So, they replaced it and fixed it in two days. It stopped working on the weekend. I tried to contact American Home Shield so that I can get early appointment. And they came and the first day they checked something, and then they replaced a part. They came back, and the second day they fixed it. The only concern I have is that sometimes you have an emergency on the weekend and you don't get a good response on that. There should something that could be fixed on the weekend.

However, it was ridiculous that I had to pay the $109 when I had already paid someone to come out, look at the unit and knew that it was broken. American Home Shield wouldn't accept what I had paid for that one. I got pictures but they wouldn't accept it. I'm not making it up that my air conditioner doesn’t work. I'm very unhappy.
