We've had American Home Shield off and on at several of our properties over the years. They are inconsistent in terms of getting people out on time and the quality of the work. Sometimes it's excellent and sometimes it's not. For the last repair we had done, it was the third time we've had to have it done by three different people. One guy said it should be covered, the other guy said it wasn't and another guy said it should be covered. The first two times, we had to wait for days and it didn't get fixed. We were afraid that this last time we were going to have to wait for days. But they got somebody out there pretty fast.

When it's good, it's good. When it's inconsistent, it can be aggravating. When you do a claim online, you don't have a chance to say, "This is the third time it's been broken. Please don't send me back the same person." You're starting over every single time. If you don't call, you don't get a chance to talk to somebody to explain the situation. Whatever is wrong is not necessarily showing up in their little drop down box. They could have a box where a customer could explain what's going on. It would also be nice if a customer could get more than one thing done at a time without having to start over.

Our hot water tank was busted and I did a claim for it. It was the worst experience I've ever had with American Home Shield. I paid the total amount that I needed to pay. It was $2,000 and they sent me $1,000 back. They refused to pay for the service to be done so I had to pay for it myself. We went a whole month without hot water and I had to call somebody that's supposed to call me back. I talked to the reps Dion, Omar, and Chantelle. They were supposed to call to rectify what was going on with that problem. They have yet to call me back yet.

The water from the hot water tank went down to my crawlspace and damaged it. I had to call a claim to my insurance company because American Home Shield will not contact me and there's mold and water down there. That has to be cleaned out. It was horrible. We got these little bugs that were coming up by the washing machine. I had Terminix come and check it all out and it ended up the tech went under the crawlspace and it's all damaged. We're breathing in the mold and it's wet down there. I wish that American Home Shield would do something about it or compensate me. Now, I need somebody to check because they're seeing that I canceled my policy. I do want to cancel my policy but I don't want to cancel it until this is all taken care of. I want the water damage to get taken care of and get reimbursed.

The contractor they sent out was B&E and they were ignorant. They said they were coming and we were waiting for them for three days. They then canceled and said they couldn't come because American Home Shield won't pay them for what they have to get, which was the water tank. I had another claim with American Home Shield and the tech that came out for the circuit breaker was excellent and he fixed that issue. I'm also trying to get American Home Shield to send someone to come and do my air conditioner and do the air filter. But I can't even get that because I need to get past this hot water claim first.

The first technician that came for the air conditioner that would not cool was good. He checked one thing, and it seemed like it was resolved. It even seemed it was resolved to me, but it wasn't. I had to go back online and submit another request. They came out a second time then had to come out a third time because I had to have the unit defrosted. They went over what was wrong with the unit so now, we're waiting for a repair. I'm not too happy about the cost 'cause I'm wondering what am I paying for? If people are paying for insurance, it's a peace of mind. But I have no peace. Summer is coming and I got this extremely expensive fee.

I had a wonderful experience with American Home Shield at a house I had before. I had an old washer and dryer and there was a repair that needed to be done. The repair people ordered a part and when they were trying to fix it, they broke something else that pretty much rendered it inoperable and put it in for replacement. They gave me a new one, but my tenant at the time had to wait two weeks. He was mildly inconvenienced, because he had to come upstairs, but after that, it was fine.

Home warranty companies have varying reputations, and American Home Shield’s reputation is at the top of their peer group. That's how I feel from personal experience as well as what I've always told people. I'm a real estate agent. I've also often had very good interactions when I've had to deal with anyone from the company. The people are very courteous. They seem to be knowledgeable about what their company can and cannot do. They take the time to educate you on things you can have as a claim and things that are not covered. That's both helpful for me, as well as my clients, when I'm explaining to people who often call me and say, “Hey, I have this issue. Is this something that American Home Shield covers?” I always start off with, “I don't work for American Home Shield. But these are things that they typically cover.” I also tell them, if they have questions, they can call American Home Shield or the regional account manager.

My furnace was making a noise so I went online and requested service from American Home Shield. That was very easy. They then gave me the name and phone number of the service company. That company did an excellent job and they fixed the furnace. They found that some part in there was leaking a little and humming a lot. This repair was a tremendous help. My wife and I can sleep because we don't have that stupid noise anymore. Sign up for American Home Shield.

The hot water heater was leaking water. I went through the website and submitted the claim. But I would rather speak to someone before I have to pay $100 for something so I can get a better understanding as to what the charges are. The tech got out there and said, “Oh, yeah. The hot water heater needs to be replaced. But I have to charge you additional $1,400 out of pocket.” If American Home Shield would've told me beforehand that the only thing they were gonna cover was $380 for the water heater and that I was gonna have to put in all the supplies and all this kind of stuff and labor, I never would have submitted $100 claim because, to me, that was a waste of my money.

I told American Home Shield that I wanted to find somebody else to do the job. But they said they can only offer me $380 to purchase a hot water heater. I told them that I was dissatisfied with that because I went to Lowe's and the cheapest hot water heater starts at $600. The rep told me that it was only $380 because they buy stuff in bulk, and that's how they get the charge. This hadn't been a very good experience at all. I'm not going to continue to pay them a monthly rate and get the same feedback that I get.

I liked American Home Shield's plan versus the other providers. I used them when the thermostat was stuck on 65. It was cold and there was a loud noise coming through. A tech came out the same day and he said that it was just in lock-out mode and that it was fixed. Two days later, the problem happened again. I called American Home Shield. The first time, I paid the service fee. The second time, they took care of it because it was a callback. They sent the company back out. This time, it took a couple of days for the same guy to come out.

The second time the thermostat was locked on 75 and it was too hot. The guy was paying more attention. He changed out the thermostat and located the bane for me that wasn't furnace-related that I thought was furnace-related and walked me through the process. It was a good experience. I just wish the furnace guy would have done it the first time.

Also, the first time I called in the claim, it wasn't difficult. The second time, I had difficulties or wasn't too happy with the person I was talking to on the phone. I was having so much difficulty with them so I went online. With the second call, I wish it was a little bit more consistent. With the first call, American Home Shield was prompt and I was able to get the service request in and I got my email. The second time, customer service was really weird and brushed me off. That aside, American Home Shield is the best decision I made. Being a first time homebuyer, it gives you that peace of mind that you're protected and somebody's actually helping out just in case because you never know what could happen. It's still a little easier when you're protected in the sense that if you don't have that couple extra bucks, you're covered and protected.

A tenant in the home that I own said that the bathtub was not draining. The tenant coordinated with them and they got it fixed. AHS advertised offering the free maintenance before the summertime. So I did that and The Right Tech guy was real good. They cleaned and cleared some stuff on the air conditioning unit. It looked like everything was working and functioning. I was happy to do it because it was the first time I did it.

The vendors were good. But there was one vendor that was not good in terms of being flexible with scheduling. It was rough. Overall, American Home Shield is a good service. It's a good portal to find the right vendors instead of me looking and googling and finding people that are not verified. I have trust in AHS that the vendors that are being utilized are verified and are good. Customer service has been really good also with AHS when I call and they are pretty accessible, and there's no long waits, which is always nice. But some way to explicitly say in plain English what's covered or not covered with each category would be nice. Because sometimes I'll put the request in and then it goes through and then I get a call from the vendor that tells me that, "Oh, we got a request from AHS for this, but it's actually not covered." Then I'm surprised because I assumed that that category covered it all.

I kept American Home Shield because it would have been wasting my money to turn them away. I would have turned them away a couple of years ago but the customer service changed over the last two years. They've improved a lot. The customer service people that I talked to were not nasty nor were they irate. They talk to you like you're a human being. Once you get a person on the phone, they talk with respect to you and that makes the whole difference.

I called American Home Shield when my air conditioner was out and I told the gentleman that I spoke to that I needed air. The person I talked to earlier said that I couldn't get anybody. It would have been a month out. I asked the second gentleman if he would please help me. He got on the phone and I had somebody out within the day. I give this gentleman kudos. The tech was very nice and he made the air conditioner work with whatever he did. It didn't take more than 10 minutes. I had a recent claim for my stove and everything went fine. A tech came in and he did what he had to do then left within 30 minutes. He took the back off the stove and did his thing. He changed out some units because he had to order them. The stove is fine.

I recently had a slab leak and the techs from Legacy 4 were awesome. I called that evening and the very next morning, they responded. They were out by 11 o’clock. They knew what they were doing. I got the guy’s card and I told him that if anything ever happens again, I’m gonna request Legacy 4 and not the other company called Affordable Leak.

When I thought my hot water heater was clogged because it was leaking underneath the water heater, a tech from Affordable Leak came out and said theyw ere going t have to order a hot water heater. He added that it had to be brought up to code. He gave me this bill that American Home Shield is not gonna cover and it was $1,800. He was triple charging me for things like the pan and the stand. This happened in the middle of April. He said, "We’ll get on it and we’ll make an appointment for May 16th.” That was three weeks away. That was not service. I felt like they were putting American Home Shield customers at the end of the line. We found the leak and I busted the concrete out then we called the other plumber. They came out and fixed the leak. I put it all back together.

I like American Home Shield. They always answer the phone. It doesn't matter what time or what part of the day. Sometimes, customer service is hard to understand because they're in the Philippines. They don’t speak really good English and you have to really listen to what they’re saying. Sometimes, they don’t understand what you’re saying. But they always come through in the end and do a really good job. I would recommend American Home Shield to somebody that's worried about stuff like that going wrong. You have to be able to pay that monthly premium. When I first started, it was 50 bucks. Their prices have gone up to $64 so I was thinking about dropping them. They have good service but they're pretty expensive.

I got an email and a text message confirming that a contractor had been applied to the claim. They gave me the name and the phone numbers to contact the contractor in case they didn't contact me within 24 hours, but they did. A tech came out and found out that it was some sort of circuit thing on the outside unit that had blown out. He was very informative and talked my son through this issue. It was a really good experience. He replaced the part and the unit now works okay. It always runs a little hot because it's Central Florida with no trees around, but the unit is cooling the house. I would recommend American Home Shield. They're very reliable, they answer right away, and there's usually no problem with the technicians. The only time I had a problem was when we had a replacement fridge about a year ago. But we got that sorted out.

This is an ongoing problem with the microwave. This was my third microwave. We put in the same claim about being shocked. The guy came out and replaced the coil of one burner on the stove. American Home Shield didn't give us anything for the microwave. All the insulation on the cord of the microwave was burned off so you can see the copper wires in it. We took the appliance to where they told us to take it. They said there was nothing wrong with the microwave. They told us we could come and pick it up. We just left it there, and we bought another microwave. That one got defaced also. There are sparks flying off that thing. Whatever touches it, sparks fly like a 4th of July.

When I first noticed it happening, we were stirring in a pot. And you stand there and your arm may touch it, and you got a shock and you got away from it. And I placed a pan out of the oven on the top stove. It was wrapped in foil, and the foil touched the side of the microwave. It fused the bottom of the pan to the coil burner. And there was a hole in the pan. You have to pry the pan from the burner. We now don't use that side of the stove. I don't know if it's just the stove, or if the house isn't grounded right. I don't know what's going on.

The electrician put the tester in the outlet, and he put the tester on the stove and it lit up. So he said that it's the appliance. But my countertop looked like somebody put cigarettes out on them from the sparks flying when stuff touch it. The microwave I have now, its face got the stainless steel on it, that’s all crispy now. And my countertop has burnt spots where the sparks flew off once the current hit it. I was doing something that he just stood back. He said, “I wouldn't touch it.” Sometimes I can be stirring in the pot, and I can feel the current coming up the spoon.

The guy said he would say that it's the appliance, and I waited to see if anyone would get back with me about the claim that I put in. This has been going on for a while. When they call me back, or I'm gonna try to call them, I should not pay another $75 because my issue is ongoing. They haven't solved it. I want them to get out here and give me some results. My daughter has been with them for some years. And I had called them out before and I got response quickly. But if I can't get any results, I have to go somewhere else.

I had Blizzard Air come out. They did fine. They were way backed up when I first called. It took them over a week to get here. They were supposed to do a tune-up, and that never happened because I turned on the AC and it didn’t work, so they came out and fixed some minor things and got it working again. So, it was a good experience.

I was a little displeased at first with Blizzard Air because they were non-responsive when it was the free checkup. But when I was a paying job, they seemed to mobilize a little bit faster. They get paid either way to do it. That was kind of what I took away from it. But other than that, they came out, they did what they needed to do, and got us moving in the right direction.

I like the range of coverage that American Home Shield gives. I used to have Fidelity, and Fidelity sucks in comparison. They would deny claims and things like that. As a homeowner, there's a lot of stuff that can go wrong in your house. What I appreciate about having American Home Shield is that they're there when you need them to be. That's a blessing.

He also said that somebody from Home Shield would call me back. Now that I know how to work their system, AHS too many departments. American Home Shield is on my mother's house. She has done all sorts of stuff with it, mostly plumbing issues she has had fixed. And every once in a while, air conditioning goes out. And for someone on a fixed budget, it certainly helps her. Submitting claims, for me, is easy. For her, it's difficult, because she is very hard of hearing. People with accents she doesn't do well with. So the majority of the time when AHS calls, it’s someone who has a very heavy accent, so it's difficult for her.

We've had one plumber that was terrible. Constantly didn't show, cancelled a few times. And one time, showed up at 9:30 at night to an 83-year-old person's house. So the next time we called and had to have a plumbing thing, we asked if there were other contractors available. And AHS found us someone else that could come out. AHS is a good product for my mother. It gives peace of mind that if anything major was to happen, we would be able to afford to get the system fixed.

I have three accounts with American Home Shield. I have with them my primary, my daughter's home, and a two-flat that’s also my primary. I pay for all these. American Home Shield was offering a free air cleaning for the air conditioner at my daughter's home. I had my daughter schedule it in March and then American Home Shield scheduled it in April. But they rescheduled. They said they had to wait until the temperature get to a certain temperature in order for them to test and get it cleaned. Earlier this month, they gave my daughter a call and said they had to cancel. They had to reschedule for the people that has no air and they had had to address them. I respected that.

I called my daughter today and told her that I keep getting these emails. So I asked her if they haven’t done her air conditioner? She said, “No, they rescheduled again.” I said, “Wait a minute. I know they rescheduled.” She said, “No, ma. They did it again.” I then asked her when is the schedule for now? Because they're supposed to come out this week for her. But they rescheduled it for next week. That’s stupid crazy.

I’ve been having problems with American Home Shield for my Lynwood location. I had them come out to do electrical work. The work order was to address two outlets in the house. My garage door wouldn't open up from the keypad electrical, and the light in the garage wouldn’t come on. The outlet in the garage was not working properly and I told them the light on the rangehood was not working. When the guy came out, he said, “Ma’am, I can address these outlets. But this rangehood, that's for appliance.” He said I would have to put in a call for an appliance guy to come out. He also said, “And as for the garage, for the light not coming on and not opening, it’s a garage door.” But I told him that it still deals with electric. He said, “No, ma’am. I’ll put it in for that. No problem.” So he did the two outlets.

When the garage guy came out, he said he didn't deal with the light issue. I told, "But they don’t come on when you open up the garage door. And we have problems with it opening up. Sometimes, the keypad don’t work.” As he was doing the job, he said, “You know, I’ll tell you what. It has to be at the point that it won’t open up. Now, it is sometimes. There’s not much we can do. But so far, it’s working. But you need to call for the electrician to come back out and address that light part you have.” So I called back American Home Shield and told them what the garage guy said. The lady put it in. It was supposed to be a recall. But when the guy came out, he gave me a bill. When he submitted, he said he had to put a light bulb in. But he never fixed the problem because I still have a shortage in the switch coming in and out. So I have a bill right now with American Home Shield, saying I owe them $100 for an electrician for coming out. But they’re trying to address it now because I’ve been dealing with that since February.

Today, I was on the phone with American Home Shield. I was also on the phone with them yesterday and a couple of weeks ago. It's just ongoing. This service stinks. They said that they would credit me $100. But I don’t want the credit. I want it removed all for there. I still can’t get the guy to come in to clean my furnace because that mark is on there.

For my building, I was having problems with the heater in November. I gave American Home Shield a call. Then somebody came out and took a look at it, and said they could do a couple of things. But American Home Shield denied it. So I told them that I wanted a second set of eyes on this. The second guy came out and told American Home Shield that this heater hasn’t been working for years. But I said, “Well, if it wasn’t working, how do you think I was getting heat in here for the last past years before y’all came about?” They said, “Well, ma’am, we have denied your claim.” So I had to pay about $8,000 to get the heating system put in. I was having the system put in around December but I have rusty pipes. In the American Home Shield contract, it says they address rusty pipes and leaks. My pipe is leaking and corroding now for my heating system. But they said it’s pre-existing.

At the same time that my heating system had to be replaced, I had a bad toilet leak. My son’s unit upstairs was leaking down the stairs into my bathroom. So the plumber came out and I had a water valve that was leaking real nice and slow. He put the wax ring on and replaced it because that was worn out, and then said he need to come back. He needed to get the approval to do the collar because it was going out on the toilet stack. American Home Shield approved that. But the plumber didn't come back.

By February, I gave American Home Shield a call and told them the plumber was supposed to come back out and fix the issue. He didn’t close the valve that he was supposed to fix for the water. He said he didn’t have it. He was going out to get it but never came back. American Home Shield said, “Ma’am, we have to give you escalation.” I told them that I was not gonna pay for the same thing twice. The plumber didn’t finish repairing what he came out to repair. So they allowed to waive that and call it as a recall. But the plumber didn’t come back out until March. He finally replaced the water valve and did the collar to the toilet. You can see where the water leaked in the ceiling downstairs on the first floor and American Home Shield covered to repair that. But it wouldn’t have been that bad if it had been addressed in December.

When that plumber came out to fix the gas leak, he did not put back on the shutoff valve and that was a health and safety issue. By law, you’re supposed to put a shutoff valve there before he walked away from my home. I said, “Wait a minute. Plumber, you didn’t put the shutoff valve on there.” But he said, “Oh, no, no, no. I’m too old for this. The gas people have to come out first and test it. Then, give me a call, and I’ll come back out.” So I called people gas and they came out and tested it. I told them that it doesn’t have a shutoff valve.” He said, “No, your plumber have to come back out and do it.” I said, “Okay, I know that. But I just want to see if you’ll agree to do it.” He told me no and that it didn’t make sense.

I called American Home Shield and told them about it and that I didn't want the plumber back in my house under any circumstances. Every time he came here, he did not complete his job. But American Home Shield said, “I’m sorry. We got to give it back to the same plumber.” I said, “Wait a minute. This makes no sense. You all know he’s not doing his job. You all see I'm constantly being inconvenienced.” They told me that they were sorry. But I told them, “That’s all you all ever say. But what good does that do? First of all, he’s jeopardizing me and my grandkids.”

I was breaking everything down to American Home Shield and then I told them to give me a supervisor. But they said, “Well, we can put in a request, but it's gonna take 24 to 48 hours.” I told them that I didn't care how long and just have someone give me a call. I ended up speaking with the supervisor who said, “Ma’am, I’m sorry, but there’s nothing we can do. We have to give it to him because he had the job.” I said that didn't make sense and gave them examples of how much of a health and safety issue this was.

My hot water tank went out on May 12 and I called American Home Shield. They gave it to Sears. Sears came out on the 18th and they said they didn't know what was wrong with it. But then, they reported back to them and said that it needed to be cleaned. But the problem is that the gas valve was worn out and the safety device on that gas valve is old and worn out over the years so it would not allow you to light it because that’s the safety mechanism on it. But Sears didn’t know how to report it. After they couldn’t do it, American Home Shield assigned it to S & C Heating and Cooling. I told them, “This is the HVAC company that you all are assigning it to. Call them and make sure that they do it, and that you all will pay them to do the repairs.” The young lady in the escalation department said, “Oh yeah, that’s not a problem. I’ll give them a call.” She gave them a call and then told me, “Yes, they’ll do it. It’s not a problem.”

I called the company and asked them if they replace or repair hot water tanks, and are they allowed to do it under American Home Shield. They said, “Sure, yes. We have the work order. The technician knows exactly what he needs to do when he gets there. But he has to take a look at it.” Then the technician got there yesterday and called American Home Shield but denied him to do the work. They said that it needs to be reassigned to a plumber. So my hot water tank is still not repaired or replaced.

So, we did some pre-maintenance things and everything was fine. The tech was very informative and it went very well. Having AHS is great because it takes care of all the small worries and some of the big ones.

My daughter recommended American Home Shield and she told me, "They helped me out and I think you need this." She said they would come through for me. I have the home warranty on two houses and I would highly recommend them. They have been really good. I was surprised. Most companies give you the runaround and I didn't think I would get faster service. I had two appliances go out and American Home Shield's contractor contacted me quickly. One appliance had to be replaced while the other had to be repaired. I also had a claim for my dishwasher because it started pouring out water from the door.

They sent out a service person and he fixed it. I was surprised because that dishwasher is probably 40 years old. I was afraid because I thought I was gonna go through the same process when I did a claim for my stove where I was made to wait two or three months. The burner kept going out on my stovetop and by the time I did a claim, I was told "They don't make those anymore." That was the hassle trying to replace my stove. It wasn't American Home Shield though, it was the store. As far as the dishwasher, the tech came out here and fixed it. He was wonderful and he told me I had 30 days and gave me his number to call him.

We had a garbage disposal that was stuck and they replaced the part. It worked out within 24 hours. The plumber did a good job. But it's not like that all the time. I had my heater having trouble and they sent somebody who broke the pipe and claimed the entire condenser unit needed to be replaced. They quoted for 3,500. When I talked to another provider, I was able to fix the issue for $400. That was a bad experience with AHS. What is covered and what is not isn't very detailed. I had to replace the part and it was on me. I had a good experience with my dishwasher and other small things but the bigger problems, AHS did not do well with.

AHS needs to take responsibility if something happens by the vendor they're sending out to us. Instead, they say, "We do a second evaluation" but that guy is also saying, "Oh, the pipe is broken. You have to replace it." But that pipe was broken by the technician they sent the first time. So it was all messed up.

My experience with Jet Heat & Air was okay. My unit looked beat up 'cause it was old. The tech looked at it and decided something had fallen on it so it wasn't covered under the warranty as it wasn't a mechanical failure. I was like, "I guess I'm gonna have to use insurance to get this replaced." So I called my insurance and I started getting quotes from other HVAC companies around this area. Both of them that I went to told me very flatly, "Yeah. This is absolutely mechanical failure. You can see this thing came apart and then it got thrown around the inside, and it got thrown out the top.

That's why all these little pieces are outside the unit and not inside the unit." A fan blade had cracked because it's just so old and the crack got wider. It started cutting up the inside of the unit and then the fan blade broke off and got thrown out of the unit. So, I got a completely new unit. Anytime a home warranty comes up in conversation, I'm always recommending American Home Shield.

I'm about to switch services because I don't like anything about American Home Shield. They raised my price and didn't tell me, and there's a lot of things they hide. They're not upfront with any of the customers. I had a claim last year with plumbing and I had to cover $800 out of pocket even though they got $800 worth of money from me monthly. I had to fight them to get my deductible back too. I had a really bad experience with them when it comes to their customer service. Plus, the people that answer the phone don't speak English. A lot of them are sourced out from the Philippines and Hong Hong, and we had difficulty filing claims because of the communication barrier. I'm about to call a guy named Ethan today for another service that's pretty similar but they're $10 cheaper a month.

The other thing that I also don't like about American Home Shield is, when I paid for my deductible, they deducted the money from my account right away, but it took them anywhere between four to six weeks to get to my address to service the AC unit. The guy who was to come out for my AC had to cancel the initial appointment, then it took him an extra three weeks to come out to my house. Other than that, the pre-season check was awesome. The tech said everything looked good.

American Home Shield sends an email that if you don't keep your AC up to service, they're not going to cover it if something happens. I used to do AC work, so I can pretty much do the maintenance on my AC unit myself. I can't do the Freon because I don't have a license to do it anymore, but I know how to clean my AC and what chemicals to buy. I just have service companies come do their checks to make sure. However, I would be very skeptical to whether or not they would fix any of the claims because they always look for something that's not in small writing to cover. I'm not saying that's what they do, but that's how I feel.

They solved that right away and replaced a panel. But I had to pay a $75 service call two different times for the same issue because it wasn't within the 30 days. That 30-day call-in for the same issue should be extended for a lot longer time because it was probably 45 or 60 days in my case and I had to pay. That aside, my service with American Home Shield has been good. The challenging part is when I call for service and I have to speak to a rep. Unfortunately, they're not in the United States and sometimes there's a challenge with the language.

When I called American Home Shield and reported a problem, somebody reached out to me within two days. The tech came when he said he would. He checked out the issues and ordered the parts. When the parts came in, he called and said he was gonna come and put them in. He put them in. He was pretty good. There were several issues that he took care of. He got parts for the stove, the parts for the oven, the thermostat and the light. The light I thought just need a new bulb. It needs a new light switch. Then the burners would click, and he put a new sensor. When he took the wall-mounted microwave apart, there were some old parts in there that when he checked, they don't even make them anymore.

The guy put in a report. AHS sent me some money for the part to replace it but they are all on backorder. I can't get a new combination microwave and wall oven right now. They said it could be probably till the end of the year. When I get the new part, I’ll notify American Home Shield that the part is in. I got to show them that it's a new part and it has a warranty.

My dad’s wife had passed and I drove approximately 400 miles to be with him. My understanding was he had no hot water as well as a gas leak, and he was occupied with grief and making funeral arrangements. I tried unsuccessfully to get the company to help him. I called at least 8 times, each time the company read a script and promised that there would be resolution. For the five days I was at my dad’s home he had no hot water. Each day I called I was told that the Inquiry was being addressed and resolution would be within the next 24 hours.

The only thing this company did was send a repairman out on the first day I was there and that person recommended a complete replacement. I paid $89 for this and 4 days later he still was waiting for the company to complete their end of the agreement. After 10 days, and AHS still reading their scripts and promising resolution within 24 hours, my sister decided to have the water heater replaced and have the company reimburse, which they NEVER did. In my opinion this company is a scam, thank God it wasn’t his AC in the middle of summer!

I was with AHS for over a year and I when I started having problems with my air I called about it needed to be repaired. They sent out a tech from Beaches heating and air and he said a part would have to be ordered which I waited all last summer for and they supposedly replaced. A day later had problems again. Again they came out. I did this at least 5 times. I requested a new company. They wouldn't send out a different one. Well the last straw was that the same company came out told me my freon was low and it was going to cost over $100 to fill.

I told him I don't have that much money at that time. He said I will fill it and when we get the money to call and pay him personally. I didn't feel comfortable with that. I called and cancelled my policy. Now I had a tech from different companies that I paid out of pocket for say that Beaches Heating and Air who was sent out by AHS rigged my air and burned up the motor in my fan and now I have to pay over $7000 to have the whole unit replaced.

DO NOT USE! I have had similar home warranty protection for more than 20 years, so I believe in the product. But, over a YEAR has passed trying to fix my free-standing ice maker. Multiple subcontractors sent to my home. Some show up, analyze, and then never contact me again. Some take the unit away and return it, still not working. Another has replaced multiple parts at different times, and it still does not work. In fact, it appears the unit is more damaged than it was originally, But at least they have a customer service department. Polite, but a joke! Try calling 20+ times with no resolution. Jump through countless hoops only to be met with shallow apologies and empty promises to resolve the situation. I am actually on hold as I write this. Seriously, this shield has gaping holes in it and you should look elsewhere for your home warranty protection.

I had a claim for my garage door and that was good. The techs got it fixed in only about 30 minutes. Another claim I had was for my AC that went out and needed to be replaced. Home Shield said that they have to put in a new one but I would still need to pay 3,000 something dollars. What was the purpose of me paying for 20 years and I still have to pay that much money? Even if I took the unit that they're giving me, it's only a three-month warranty on the unit that they are providing. If I didn't get that unit, Home Shield would only pay the company that did the inspection $1,800.

I'm starting to think that having the home warranty is not a benefit. Right now, my wife and I are thinking twice about letting Home Shield go. We pay them the fee every month and when techs come out, we have to pay a service call. There's really no benefit. If I was to save that $80 a month, I should have enough to pay for repair by the time something happens. When I call, Home Shield does get somebody out right away. But if someone asks me if they should get one, I would not recommend it unless they have a lot of old appliances.

There was an error message in the thermostat, which generally indicates that there's a stoppage in the drain line to the air conditioner down into the second-floor bathroom sink. I initially filed a claim on the internet but I was unable to express the precise nature of the problem and the provider wasn't able to do anything. I had to follow up through a phone call in order to get the appropriate allocation for the repair. The contractor came out and they were able to diagnose the issue. But the difficulty was in the diagnosis itself.

The diagnosis suggested that it was something that we in the house have done. But since we don't go up in the attic, it's not possible that we had done it. The net result is that I’m out of pocket for $4,000 in order to get the issue replaced. There's a plastic connector that connects the perfectly serviceable heat exchange coils to the drain line and that little connection point costs about 35 cents. But it cannot be replaced and I ended up having to buy an entirely new set of coils. It would have been nice to be able to appeal the decision and express that the only people that could have caused the damage, which we were supposedly responsible for, could have come from people that were employed by American Home Shield. Those are the only people that have been up in the attic working on the air conditioning unit.

We came home and water was running out of our garage. It turned out to be a rather simple problem in that there was a crack in a pipe. We live 40 miles out and the technician went in, bought parts, brought them back and didn't complain. He put them in and showed my husband, in case it ever happened again, how to fix it temporarily so we didn't have that much water until he could get back out.

We also had recently an air conditioner that had a part that needed to be replaced. That went well. I like the promptness of American Home Shield and the ability of the providers. The people providing the service are very knowledgeable in what they are doing. The only problem we've ever had with anybody from American Home Shield is the appliance person. He had replaced the dishwasher, the washing machine, the dryer, the microwave, but he'd call and say he was coming in but wouldn't show up. We were sitting there, waiting, then he'd call and say he was coming the next day. Two or three days later, we'd call him and he'd say he just got the part. I will cancel my contract before I have him at my house again.

Back in December 2020, my furnace went out. It took American Home Shield three weeks to get it to heat. Finally, it was because the lady I talked to noticed that I had 30-degree weather. Nobody called, nobody came, they didn't send anybody. I called somebody on my own, and they ended up not paying for those people. They sent somebody from another county who were three teenagers. They looked at the furnace and said what I told them the other man said. They didn't even take it apart and look at it. That wasn't professional. They just said, “Oh, yes, it’s old. It needs to be replaced.” “Okay.” So, they gave me $1,500 for a furnace. That is not what a furnace costs. That is way less.

January, the electric water heater went out. I had a young college student living in my guest house temporarily. Because of COVID, he couldn't go back to in-person class. He lived there from January to June, and he moved back to LA. The water heater went out. I could not leave him there with no hot water, and I wouldn’t call and wait three weeks again. So, I paid for my own water heater without even calling.

It was March 3rd I called and said I had a problem with my ceiling fan in my dining area. I didn’t know if it was the switch or the fan. And AHS said I could have up to six electrical things fixed when I made a call. So, I listed some of these items, one of which was my garage door, which had to be a separate claim. But they sent me a garage door person from another county that also took a long time to get here, when I couldn't get my car in and out of the garage because I don't have a walkthrough door, I only have big doors. So, I had to leave it disconnected all the time. And my son was afraid somebody could be hiding in there when I came home. He really hated it that I had my garage door disconnected. And it took a long time.

AHS got me somebody who doesn’t work this area, but he came and replaced my garage door opener. That turned out okay. But the problem was the people do not speak English. They do not understand what I'm saying to them. How do I get somebody that speaks English that I can understand them? And when they don't send me an electrician, they do not understanding me. They gave me the phone number of an electrician, and I called him. He didn't want anything to do with AHS. He was far away. He wasn't even local. I paid for my own ceiling fan to be fixed, and the other two items that needed repair because they never sent me an electrician.

A few years ago, AHS fixed both of my wells and I was very pleased. But something has changed. The main issue is they made people in this county unhappy by the way they pay them. They would agree on a price for an item, and the contractors would told me they changed it after the fact, and don’t pay them what they agreed on. So, they don't want to deal with AHS. That was the issue with our garage door company, for sure.

I had another problem. I live in a rural area, and I have a septic tank. And the policy says that if it’s full, AHS will pump it. AHS sent a plumber, not the septic people, who didn’t charge very much. They charge less than a plumber. They sent this plumber from another county here, who ran a snake down. He didn’t open the thing to the septic tank, he ran the snake down. And there’s a bit of grass on the snake when it came out. He said, “We can’t do anything about that.” I called the septic people, and paid them after paying 125 for this guy who did nothing.

The septic people came out and said the tank needed pumping. I found out afterwards, my granddaughter did five loads of laundry, “No, your septic tank is supposed to do two.” A septic tank goes through a process so they don't disturb the top. They have a pipe that goes down to the bottom of the tank. It was down 18 inches below the sludge, and that fell off. And this guy they sent out didn't even know that. It would have been covered because they cover pumping. So, I had to pay for all that.

I do not call AHS often. They haven’t talked to me last year. Just this year and 2020. I’m thinking of discontinuing it. My daughter said, “Mom, put your monthly payment in the bank and then have the money to pay for whatever you need.” That makes sense. If I needed a new kitchen faucet, I don’t know what to do. I don’t know whether 125 to call AHS and wait forever, or call somebody else and put that money towards a plumber.

I was happy with American Home Shield until I had this last episode with my air conditioner. I didn't know the protocol, first of all. They didn't explain everything upfront. It took me a month to get the issue fixed. I called them a couple of times, and they told me it was ordered. Then I found out that it hadn’t been ordered. Then they said that I had to choose whether I wanted the payoff or I wanted to have it fixed. My sister had went through that, so I knew to tell them that I wanted it fixed. But they kept saying that it was a mix-up with the payoff and receiving, and what I wanted to take it out, what they were offering me in the payoff and having it fixed. They didn't pay us anything as much as I thought that they were gonna pay on their part of it.

On the 28th of March, I called to have my air conditioner serviced. When they came out, and technician got up there. I don't know what he did but then the unit was no longer working. They did my daughter like that when she called out for a service call. When they got out there, they found something wrong with her air conditioner. They said it was a blade. AHS was thinking that that company may have been doing something. There was another guy from AHS and all of a sudden, they were very upset. They no longer dealt with that one particular company. They started sending out these other people to finish it up. But we didn't get it fixed. It's just been fixed no more than two weeks ago.

I've been contemplating on looking at something with someone else. I used to never have any problems with American Home Shield. But now they seem to be slagging and they're not like what they used to be. Here in Bakersfield, we reach up to 100 and sometimes 110 in the summertime. I've experienced that last year when my air went out. That was an emergency but I had to sit in this heat for three or four days. When it gets that hot, they tell people to go to cooling areas. But I’m disabled and I kept telling American Home Shield that. I cannot go and sit anywhere. I'm also wondering why do we keep getting all these foreigners that can hardly speak English when we call them for help.

Contrary to the popular reviews posted for AHS - when it comes to customer service, AHS delivers an absolutely horrifying experience. Our furnace broke down in the middle of winter and was only addressed after multiple repeated followups, leaving us without heat for multiple days in Michigan January. It stopped working again in spring, and this time 1. it took us multiple followups over phone and chat to get AHS to send someone over. 2. Their tech came 6 days after the appliance broke down. 3. The tech ended up disturbing the device further leaving us with a furnace that kept running non stop so we had to cut power to HVAC.

    4. Despite multiple followups with AHS over phone and chat they have not sent anyone over (it's 8 days since the appliance went down) nor do they respond to calls or chat requests anymore. It is really hard to comprehend how AHS are getting all these positive reviews when in our experience (and based on what we have heard from others) AHS delivers the most disappointing experience. I can only imagine that the positive reviews are fake.

When you're on the phone you get the runaround and the biggest problem is you get bad contractors. American Home Shield is nonresponsive and send subpar contractors and are dishonest. I was trying to get my toilet replaced and was recommended for a toilet replacement by the contractor, but in the end, Home Shield had me buy my own toilet and didn't reimburse me. Another instance was one time they fixed my washer and it flooded my house.

We have pool coverage as part of our plan which our serviceable items specifically list pool equipment, pool plumbing and pool electrical. We did a service request and paid the $75 service fee for pool equipment because we thought that was the issue. DJs Pool Service came out and found out the issue is from a pool light which should be covered under pool electrical. The same contractor said he could fix it and submitted a repair request to AHS. I tried calling AHS on 5/16/2022 to ask if it was approved and the first lady I spoke to said the only way she could add it to the request was by submitting a new request but she would refund the $75. I asked her to wait so I could confirm with the contractor that the electrical was the problem as he had spoke to my husband.

After he did and I called back the next day, now I'm being told I need to pay a separate $75 service fee and it would not be refunded to add pool electrical. This makes no sense since it is the same contractor who has already been out. Also, when I initially did the service request I could've selected pool electrical along with pool equipment but we did not think that was the problem. We should not have to pay a separate fee for the same issue.

We moved into our current house Mar 26 2021. Our home warranty was with American Home Shield, phone number: 888-682-1043. Website is www.ahs.com. Headquarters address is: 889 Ridge Lake Blvd, Memphis, TN 38120. For that year, it was fine overall and we didn't have any big issues with them. They were definitely more helpful than not.

However, our year contract expired on Mar 26 2022 and we didn't renew right away as we were looking at our options. Then about a month ago, around mid April, our freezer connected to our fridge started to go bad. We were trying to figure out the remedies for repairing it and calling the manufacturer, etc. But then about 2 weeks later, the fridge started going bad too. At that point, I called American Home Shield to renew our warranty and get help. I found out that since it was still within a 46 day period (or some such time period), that when we renewed it, we would actually have to pay for April, even though it was now May and we didn't have an actual contract with them in April. So basically to get service in May, we would have to pay a "back bill" of the month before. I asked how to avoid that and was told if I waited about 10 days, I would be out of that time period and could get a new contract with a fresh starting date of about mid May.

Unfortunately, a few days later was when the fridge started to go bad, which greatly worried me as I have a baby and his formula was starting to go bad. I called and renewed our warranty only 7 days before we could have avoided paying this ridiculous, arbitrary "back bill" of the month of April. The vendor (Gulf Appliance Repair, Inc) actually so kindly came to my house that night but told me the LG fridge has been an issue for people lately. The compressor was broken and he said it basically can be risky to repair it as it can be a touchy subject with the other fridge components but that he would have to put it in for that, even though he thinks a brand new fridge is best. He also told me I could ask for a cash out and get the money for the parts and labor and buy a new fridge ourselves. This was on Friday, May 6.

I then called American Home Shield on Monday, May 9 to get an update and was told the vendor hadn't sent in his diagnostic form yet. They called the company and told me they would have it in by the end of the night. I called back on Wed, May 11 to get an update, they called the vendor and found out they still hadn't sent it in. I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told they have to put in a request for them to call me back, and that there are not just available.

Same thing Thursday, May 12. I asked to please escalate this and do something about it as I have a baby, can't get any food in the house and had to go out and buy a mini fridge for his formula and snacks. And we are eating out lunches and dinners which is expensive and not healthy. The representative told me she would check it herself and make sure it happened. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and she told me she would have one call me.

I called Friday, and still no diagnostic report turned in. I asked to spead to a supervisor and was told the lady before never did put my request in but that he was now and someone would call me within 24 hours. No call 24 hours later so I called again but now I was told it's within 24-48 hours that the supervisors call. I didn't call Sunday, May 15 as I figured it was a lost cause.

I called Monday, May 16 and found out the report and finally been sent in and the parts were on order. I then told the representative that I had been very clear in my first couple of calls that I wanted the option to cash out before any parts were ordered and that obviously this information was pretty upsetting and startling. She looked through their notes and told me no one had noted that and regardless, the vendor would have to be contacted by me so that he would send in a report that I can cash out. This didn't make a lot of sense to me, so I called the vendor and found out they never send in authorization for cash outs as it's the warranty company's authority to approve or disapprove such requests, they have nothing to do with that.

By this time, I was basically crying and so upset with the run around, wrong communications and directions that I was getting that I didn't even know what to do with myself. I called the warranty company again and asked if I could just cancel my contract with them and get my money back. They said I won't get any money back. So I asked for a supervisor to call me. They said the request was still in from Friday and someone would call. So that night, at 8:19pm they called. But I missed the call as I was putting my baby to bed. I was surprised it was so late as I had asked for the call to be in the afternoon. I called back and was told that they normally call again about 30 mins later. This didn't happen. They never called back at all.

So this morning I had to call again and was told I had to put a NEW request in to speak with a supervisor, which I did. I have been waiting hours and nothing. So I called just now to plead to speak with a supervisor and was on the phone for 20 mins. The rep said she can't get a supervisor on the phone and that they said to tell me that the supervisor assigned to my ticket will call me. This means there WERE supervisors she actually spoke to but they wouldn't get on the phone to help handle a very irate, sad, upset, disgruntled customer. This is really, really bad customer service and I see why they have a one star review on Google.

I would like to have a new fridge instead of the current one just being repaired as the repairman was pretty clear that they can get broken again and again at this stage and that it's better to just get a new one. If this is denied, and it's the parts and repair still, I would like to know what my option to cash out is. If this is denied, I would like my fridge repaired ASAP and compensated for the $100 mini fridge we had to buy, the food that went bad in the fridge with this taking so long (at least $100), and the dinners out we have had to have for the last 2 weeks (at least $250). Thank you for listening and for any help you may be able to give me.

We had had a company come out before and worked on our furnace, and they apparently had loosened a wire. That was what the technician with Cabot had to repair. We're back to being cool in our house, so we're happy. American Home Shield is great. They keep our house running. We switched to them ‘cause we were hoping they would cover the ductwork that needed to be done. When we needed the work done, they covered some but not all. We had to put out a little bit more money than we were wanting. But at least we didn't have to pay out for the whole furnace.

The gentleman told me, "Under your contract, if anything is needed, you would have to pay out of pocket for it.” I said, "Wait a minute. My coverage states that all of that is covered.” And he said, "Not the policy you have". I don't have the contract, which I was supposed to be receiving by mail. He looked at my garage and fixed it, and it’s been working ever since. It is an old garage so I should get it replaced. But it's functional so I want to still use it. He told me about it being old and I agreed with him but I bought it the way that it was, so I can't complain.

I like the convenience of having American Home Shield. It’s cheap and if something bad happens to my stuff, I have insurance. I could call them and they can get it fixed. I’ve used them last year for my AC and they always come through. People should get a warranty. My brother is in a process of buying a house. So I already got AHS a customer there. I recommend it. They do a great job with scheduling. They're on time and prompt, and they're doing what you expect in 2022. So they should keep it up. Sevier Climate Control came out and did a great job. I have one claim going on and an appliance company is looking at my refrigerator and my washer. But I haven't had a great experience with that company. I've been kind of going round and round since the 21st of April. American Home Shield had a guy come out and he didn't seem very knowledgeable. He came out like he was in a rush and didn’t diagnose the problem. He was just taking a good guess at it and if that was not the case, then he’d come back the following week. I'm being inconvenienced a lot because I'm waiting a week in between each one of these little guesses. That company should do some kind of follow up. When they leave, I can't call. They don't answer the phone.

I reached out to American Home Shield two or three times. They’d send him an email then they'd get on the phone and say they 're working on it. American Home Shield would come back to me and say the contractor said they were working on it and that they were gonna be back out. They’d come back out and it's the same thing. I'm in the dark the whole time. Instead of them taking care of the problem and making sure I am good, I find myself on the phone every day trying to call the appliance company. When I talk to anybody, ain’t anybody seem concerned about it. Everybody is reading off a script telling me they'd get back to me. They don’t understand that I don't have a refrigerator or a washer. I'm hoping when the guy comes out Thursday that he could fix something.

Another thing is nobody lets me talk to anybody where I could escalate it. I’ve been throwing American Home Shield's name around even before I signed up because I heard they were the best. I'm starting to feel different about that because I can't even talk to anybody.

American Home Shield irritates me from time to time. I threatened to throw them away, but we don't. And for situations like what we just had, which is our dishwasher went out, they would either come out and fix it or replace it. In this case, they fix it and fix it until they had to replace it. It's complicated. But those things are reasonably handled.

We had some problems with the air conditioner and we had the contractor come out. We had a problem with an electric circuit, a problem with our breaker box that we have in the garage that controlled the service in our bathrooms. And they came out and got that resolved. And I was very thankful for that because it was over my head. It was a 24-hour turnaround. It was certainly within my expectation. We've had so many other things. A lot of them are not covered by American Home Shield. But every experience I had with them are bad things that happened in my house and they have been able to get somebody out and take care of those issues. They're not perfect, but they do okay.

Hers and His Plumbing came out to do our plumbing request, and they fixed one of the toilets and did something to the other one. This claim is still in process though. When they noticed there was a bulge in the wall, we talked about that and the plumber said that that was a plumbing issue. They had to call in another company, SerClean, and when they inspected it, they found out that there was a leak from the bathtub. SerClean had to remove all the tub and the fiberglass walls, so I'm left with a big hole in the bathroom, waiting for the plumber. He has to repair the pipes that were busted behind the tub, and I was told he could not get back to my house for two more weeks. When he repairs those, then the contractor will come in and put in the new tub and the tile.

In the meantime, the plumber had to repair the faucet in the kitchen that was part of the plumbing issue, so he replaced that. I can tell Hers and His Plumbing is very good. The only problem was this guy was rather new, but now he's coming back out with the manager. They will be the ones to repair the bathroom pipes because there was an issue with the faucet. At another time, I had my oven that needed the pilots and the inside gas igniter repaired. That was a different company and they were very good as well. However, they had to order parts and it took over a month. The tech was also having a hard time really fixing the main part of the stove, so they ended up replacing the stove.

It takes a long time to get anything done through American Home Shield, but it probably does anyway. With the plumbing, all the companies are backed up, so I realized it's gonna take a long time for everything. Eventually, American Home Shield is doing a very good job and I'm very pleased with them. I pay my $100, and they send somebody out who knows what they're doing. On a different note, my friend, Patricia, referred me to American Home Shield, and I tried to go on, because I was told me we would get an Amazon card. For some reason though, we weren't able to do it. I would like to get my $25 Amazon card and have my friend get hers as well.

So they were gonna send out a plumber, but the plumber never came. Then they were going to send out an HVAC guy yesterday. And this was supposed to have been expedited, which means that they had four hours to come out. We tried to call the guy but he wouldn't answer. We spent two days on the phone calling American Home Shield and all we did was speak to people in Ghana who just read scripts. They had absolutely no idea how important it was. I ended up having to pay $580 yesterday to get an HVAC guy to fix it.

I pay every six months for techs to come out. The HVAC guy who came yesterday from Climatemakers says techs never went in the attic that's part of the heat pump system. I was also a whole pound of Freon deficit. It was like I had never been serviced upstairs. There's no point in servicing downstairs if you don't service the upstairs unit so I'm pretty upset.

If we hadn't gotten Climatemakers to do the HVAC yesterday, my ceiling would have collapsed. At the moment, I have beams keeping the ceilings from falling down while it's trying to dry out. AHS needs to be put out of business for what they've done. I could have had an absolutely dangerous situation with water running into an electrical socket and they did not understand any of that.

Generally, American Home Shield is okay, but the communication, the responsiveness and quality of the contractors vary. Some are very good to excellent, and some are fair to less than qualified. The online process of filing a claim can be difficult, too. I put in a claim for an item and did not realize the components of that item was not covered and so I paid for the service fee. They would never fund it. The contractor came out and said, “No, it isn’t covered under your policy.” Also, it takes a long time to get through an agent. The reps on the phone sometimes are terrific and helpful, and sometimes they talk around in circles and don't know what they're doing.

The quality of American Home Shield has gone down over the years. If a customer wants to bring the same contractor back for another service that's related, they should be able to request that. I was told I could not. Then I had one claim where a contractor was awful, late, and not respectful to me. I asked for a different contractor to finish the job but American Home Shield said, “No, you can't do that. It’s these people or nobody.”

I've used American Home Shield twice and so far, so good. The first time, their contractor came out to care for the dryer that was making noise. They said it needed to be cleaned and now, that's good. A contractor was out recently to repair an air conditioning unit which wasn't blowing cold air and that went smoothly. The air conditioning guy was quick. He came out and went to work. He answered questions, located the defective part, and made sure everything was working before he left. But I wasn't happy that the price went up as much as it did. It went up by 25% and I don't remember seeing an email that it was gonna go up. One of the reasons I went with American Home Shield was because it was cheaper than the previous service that we had. But that was a significant jump. When I asked the customer service rep about that, he just mentioned they were trying to remain competitive.

In the recent past, they've had better service vendors. We had a claim for the washer and the provider had to order a part and wait for it to come. It was a little stressful as it took a little long to get but not unreasonable. The tech was very professional and did the service very quickly. He was very friendly and helpful. He also did a little explanation as I like to know a little bit more. That was a nice experience.

Two years ago, there was someone who came out for something, and they were very lackadaisical and the work was kind of ho-hum. Other than that, since signing with AHS, I've been pretty happy and satisfied. Everything we've had trouble with, they've been able to send out qualified personnel. The warranty has saved us money. The money we pay them is well worth it.

So, Lake Area Appliance came and found out that there was some type of tool that they needed to order to have it work properly. They didn’t have to replace the stovetop but they could get the part for it. I spoke with the rep from American Home Shield and the whole ordeal was expedient. They immediately got someone out here, which I appreciated. The agent checked everything, told me what I needed and what they were gonna do, which was to order the part and when they would come in. As soon as the part comes in, he would be back out so that he could replace the part with that one that was defaulted. He did exactly what he said.

I recently did a claim on my washing machine. It was making lots of weird noises. The problem was actually the pump, which had been replaced once before about a year ago and it went out again. The gentleman from Arc Appliance was here and made it very easy to do. The first company that they gave me to call, called me and said that it would be 10 to 14 days. That company suggested that I call AHS back. AHS got Arc Appliance here within the next day. Their guy did a very good job.

I did run into a situation because I had their basic plan and it did not cover refrigerant in an air conditioning unit. So, I had to pay. Last year, there was a problem with my AC. They fixed the problem with the AC, but I had to pay $1,300 for the refrigerant. They only covered a portion, but it was my fault for not knowing that. I just increased my coverage to their platinum plan so that does not happen to me again.

We also noticed it was backing up in the washroom sink. There must be a clog somewhere. I was thinking it was coming from the sink but it turned out to be coming from the floor. Two days later, we're taking a shower and we noticed that the water is getting cold. I went down to see if the pilot on the hot water heater had come off and saw a puddle of water on the floor from the hot water heater. We called American Home Shield and scheduled for service.

When a guy with PHD came in, he knew right away what the problem was and he fixed the plumbing issue. He unstopped to drain and replaced the plumbing. A pipe burst. He said they were gonna have to get the hot water heater ordered but it might take a week or so. American Home Shield sprung to action and they were able to address it. Instead of taking a week, it took two days. I was super happy and so was my wife. PHD was excellent.

Water was leaking inside my wall through the ceiling on the second floor. A contractor came out and looked through everything. Good thing I was able to stop it myself and it was the exiting water and not the incoming water. If it was incoming, I would have to turn off the whole water supply and I'd be down for three days before they got there. But it got inside the wall and they said was there was nothing they could do because that was not covered. They needed to cut the walls and pull up the floor but I told them no. I have other insurance for that and didn't want to pay for it when I have insurance to cover it. The only thing was that they were so far away that, if I would have hired them to do any of the plumbing work through the initial inspection, they would charge more than someone locally here for the travel time. That would have been a been a hit that would have went towards American Home Shield.

I love the fact that American Home Shield is able to take care of all the small things that I have happening in the house. The only thing is when you have an immediate problem, it takes a little bit of time to get a contractor out to you to resolve the issue. If it's something that's causing more damage, you want to get that immediate attention. But once they're there, they do a good job. I've already suggested others to get American Home Shield. All of a sudden, the dishwasher wouldn't talk to me. I pushed buttons and it wouldn't do anything. I called and spoke with one of the representatives with American Home Shield and they went on and they wrote up a ticket. A couple of days later, the gentleman came out and took a peek and said, "Oh, my. You got a burnt board in here." And he said, "Oh, this board here caused that board to go out." And that's basically what was going on. So, something shorted something else out within the unit. The contractors are legitimate folk. They come in with the attire. Like GE, they have their uniform on and the whole bit. So, whenever they come and provide a service, they seem to be legit people and knowledgeable.

However, I find AHS a lot less than a Fidelity home warranty. Those other folks seem to be very accommodating. Here, it's like pulling teeth whenever I'm trying to get a service done. And this is on a personal note because I have purchased that property there at Newtown, Connecticut. So, the seller, we had requested to have a home warranty, and they came up with this outfit, and we never used the AHS. It's not that great. I even hate calling them whenever I have a problem.

A lot of times, I'm on the phone for a minute or three and I would stay 20 minutes sometimes. And AHS would have someone that I have to listen really close to to understand what they were saying most of the time. What I do is I have to wait and talk with them and finally get somebody. And I would hear cows and chickens in the background. So, they're probably using people that's abroad. That part is a bit hazy with me. I would say something like, "Can I please get a follow-up email or something about what it is that I'm asking them to do? And please send me a receipt." And they could never seem to do that. So, that part of doing business with them sometimes is a bit rough because they take a credit card, and I have to pay them right away. And that's before I even get the service. So, they would collect money, and I don't get any type of acknowledgment or a receipt that I gave them money. I have to beg them every time.

The customer service part of trying to make you happy before they even tell you the pay is weird. It's almost like you drop off your car to a mechanic and the only thing he's doing is just telling you, "It's gonna cost you 1,200 bucks to fix the car and can you pay three-quarters of that amount now. And then, maybe you'll be happy with the car whenever I return it to you or maybe not." So, they should be more concerned about getting my product in a working position before they start pounding me about the money that they want to collect. I can pay, or they can say, "Hey, can I get a credit card on your file here? So that way, whenever the person goes out to represent us, the vendor come to you, then we'll charge you." But it seems like they charged me right away, and here, I would say, "Wait a minute, I don't have the services yet and you're charging my card already." That is what I don't like about that.

The last one was I had an issue recently that I called them up because it seemed like I had a problem with my water heater. But what happened was it was not the fault of the water heater. The scariest part was they said, "Well, we'll get back with you within 48 to 72 hours on your water heater." And I said, "Wait a minute. You mean to tell me I'm gonna have to take a cold shower for the next two days or three days?" "Well, we don't have anybody in Newtown, Connecticut that can help out with this." "Well, call a plumber. You know what? Forget it. Why don't you just cancel my request? I'm calling a plumber, and then I'll pay the plumber to fix my problem." That is what I ended up doing. But what happened was somebody was in there helping me with the shower and what he did was he removed the valve that was in there, so the water was being mixed. So, we corrected that by me getting a plumber in there.

But the thing that saddened me about AHS is that they had no solution to offer me. I would say, "I took a cold shower last night and I hope that we can have this resolved right away." "Oh, well, we'll get back with you. Somebody will reach out to you because we don't have anybody right now on hand." I said, "You don't know a plumber here? How can you not know a plumber like that?" They didn't know of anybody to call. And I said, "Well, how can you not know somebody to call? How about the person you sent out here to look at my furnace? They're called Water Air Solution." And the guy told me that they worked on boilers and did different things.

I called on my own because I know now this guy named Jose that works for that company. I called and said, "Hey, Jose. Do you guys happen to change water heaters and stuff?" He said, "Oh, absolutely. We could do that." I said, "These folks that sent you out before to come and look at my furnace said that they don't know of anybody that can come out and take care of that." He said, "You know what the problem is? Because it's not a boiler or something, we're not coming up. So, we're HVAC guys, but we can take care of that. But since they are not looking at us or classifying us as plumbers, they're not going to send us out because of that. But I'll ask the owner to reach out to them on your behalf because this is an emergency and we need to go ahead and get you up and running. 'Cause when you have a water heater situation or whatever, that's pretty important."

I just went on and had a plumber come out and he figured out what was going on with it. But the point is I shouldn't have had to call the plumber because I was covered under them, but come to find out the problem was an easy fix and I paid for it myself, which was not a problem. That was a good 130 bucks. But it was worth it to me because I had hot water. But that troubled me, the fact that they had nobody there. Because what if something else failed that would have resulted in me needing a plumber? So, they need to have a better connection or contract with somebody.

When I purchased that home back in August of last year, there was a tenant there and the tenant at the time was waiting on his house to be built there in Newtown. He was a vice president and general manager of PepsiCo. So, I didn't want to disturb his workflow. But he was freaking out because he had to move out at the end of August.

I closed on August 10th and I told him, "Ryan, don't worry about it. We don't need to be there right now. We have another house. So why don't you just go ahead on and just keep it as long as you need it." He said, "Oh, wow, you will do that for me?" "Yeah, go month to month." So, he did that. But during that time that he was there, he called me right at the beginning of October and told me the furnace was messing up. So, I had to work with American Home Shield and the whole bit and that was whenever I had to call and request several times, "Can you please give me a receipt?" My house is a rental. So, I want to have a record. I want a paper trail that the service call was being looked at. I couldn't even get any paperwork.

Pro Comfort Heating came out, did a good job and left. It was for the flame detection sensor and it was just cleaning off something. Even though I saved money by using American Home Shield, it was a simple fix. I wish that I learned something so that the next time that it happens, I won't have to call and call. That was the second time I had problems with the furnace. The first time I called, I had to wait a couple of days but this time, it was something simple and the tech came out the next day. She was awesome. It was the end of wintertime but it would've been worse if it was the middle of winter. I hate having to take a vacation day to stay home and the only complaint I have is you have to be home in a certain window of time so it ruins your whole day. It would make it easier if there's any way that they could schedule a time after hours of work. But it got done within a day.

However, I'm still waiting on a decision that is being escalated to upper management that I haven't heard back from them. The claim was declined. The problem is still going on and American Home Shield told me they would not cover it. I called them to let them know that it shouldn't have been declined because they are the ones that sent the first contractors out to fix the problem. It just seemed like we couldn't get ahold of the people who were going to put it in. It took forever. They just kept promising. Finally, we got it after about 20 calls to them. I wasn't happy with how much money I had to pay to have it put in. I had to pay $3,095 extra. I've had American Home Shield for many years and I don't have a problem with them. I just have a problem with who they send out and why I had to pay $3,000. They said it was for upgrades. They didn't upgrade anything. They just put in a new one and then I had to pay for it.

I called AHS about three times and told them I couldn't get those people to talk to me. This one lady from AHS that got on the phone said, "Well, they'll talk to me," and they did. She got them on the phone but it was the same old they will get back to us, and they never did. Most times, we were running the phone off their walls three times a day. Still, I like American Home Shield. They've always been prompt about everything.

It seems like American Home Shield gets a lot of these little small companies and sometimes, they don’t have the equipment. American Home Shield is trying to get people out to actually do the work. But sometimes, people come out and then they end up sending somebody else because the first people didn’t do the work right. They used to bring in brand-name companies like Sears. At first, I was thinking about trying to switch up and go to somebody else. But I decided I’m gonna try to hang out with American Home Shield for another year and see if the service gets any better.

I'm very appreciative of American Home Shield. They just recently came through for me when they replaced my air conditioning system. It was old, and I had leaks in my coils in my evaporator system upstairs and a couple of problems throughout the system. It wasn’t running very well and kept losing refrigerant. The techs came out a couple of times and evaluated it. As a matter of fact, they just replaced the evaporator last year and it ran great all year.

During the winter, I didn’t use the air conditioner then when I got ready to use it again, it started freezing up. I called and the techs came out, evaluated it and determined that they had to replace the condenser and the evaporator. Also, the refrigerant they’re using now would not be compatible with the system, so they ended up having to dump everything, start all over again and finally got the unit put in a couple of weeks ago.

So far, having American Home Shield has been a benefit to me. For the premiums I'm paying and the return I'm getting, that might change. I hope I can go without having any problems, but they’ve always lived up to my contract. Every time I call, it takes time with the crazy slowdown right now, but they've been taking care of what they’re supposed to.

My two air conditioning units went out. I had a representative come out and he told me that he will have to test one of the units to see if there was a leak. He would have to inject something into the unit then he would come back out in three days to determine if there was a leak. If there was a leak, he would have to determine where the leak was coming from. In the end, things didn't happen like that.

I got a text on the day when he was supposed to come back out to determine if there was a leak that the appointment was canceled. I called to find out what the reason was. I was told that one of the units needed an evaporator coil and American Home Shield wouldn't cover the second unit because the issue was a bracket in the unit that wasn't on correctly. I went ahead and called an air conditioning company to come out to tell me what was going on. I still need air in my home.

The tech is working on the second one, getting the parts, and getting it running. He was able to get the other one running and I didn't need an evaporator coil. The tech said that whatever the initial representative did, he left a whole part unplugged. This could have been purposeful. It's one thing to come out and assess and see if it's gonna fall under warranty. Whether or not it falls under warranty is neither here nor there when you're further damaging my property. That representative turned off the valve on the system. This meant that when the gentleman was trying to do the assessment, the compressor wouldn't come on. He also didn't come back to turn it on so that it was not damaging my unit further.

I'm now wondering what I'm getting into. I thought I was trying to do something good to protect my home. But if they come out and they're doing further damage, that's ridiculous. I also need a full report on what the initial representative came up with because what he said was wrong wasn't what was wrong. He also said that the bracket that was needed for the second unit was not covered. But the tech I got was able to get that one going. If it was a bracket gone, how would I know that a bracket was off? Also, why leave a whole part off and leave the wires hanging out?

I am very disappointed. I almost wanted to try to see how I could cancel American Home Shield because I don't have money to give to a company. They're tearing up my equipment even further and that's very malicious. I initially thought the representative was professional and kind in answering my questions. But he was flat-out lying.

The service was horrible and it makes my blood pressure go up to even talk about it. I paid out of pocket for the tech that fixed my unit. I’m filing all kinds of complaints. I asked for an appeal from American Home Shield and they said I did it within a reasonable time and someone should reach out to me. But that hasn't happened.

I was a little disappointed with my recent request though. In my contract it says I have to maintain the serviceability of my equipment. My pool, air conditioner, sewers and all the others are inspected to keep my warranty. I received an email that said, “You're eligible for a free air conditioner check-up.” It’s only my second year here, but I get it checked every year within 12 months. They said that they couldn't get it started, they couldn't do anything, and they would have to order a new machine. They said that they would get back to me on pricing because other things had to be done in order for the water heater to be put in like something with the chimney. The company sent me a quote. The other piece of the experience was some other tech shows up at my house wanting to talk to the tech that was in my basement. He was like one of the company owners or the owner’s husband. It put me in a position where there were two men wanting to have a conversation. I didn't feel safe. He had no real reason to be there. They were just sitting there talking while I'm down there and it has nothing to do with the work itself.

Then, I wasn't getting a response from the company on this estimate that they gave me. I got someone else to come out and look at the heater and I didn't need the service that the first contractor had said that I needed. It was like an extra $2,000 to get whatever needed to be done with the chimney but the second contractor said I already have a chimney liner.

I called American Home Shield right away to tell them there was a problem with the contractor and asked them to give me the option to have the part ordered and have someone else put it in because I don't trust the first company. They said they would have to call me back. They couldn't get in contact with the company and they said they had ordered it already. I never got the option to say whether I wanted a part ordered or whether I wanted that company to do anything. Who authorized it? The rep couldn't tell me who authorized the purchase and she just kept saying she had to call me back because she couldn't get in contact with them.

To my knowledge, nothing else has happened. I had to get someone to do something different to the water heater and pay out of pocket in order to have hot water. Then, I have to take the time to cancel American Home Shield. I'll never recommend American Home Shield to anyone after this experience. I've had them in the past and this is the absolute worst.

I called in over the phone for two different issues. One, my dryer was not drying clothes like it was supposed to. I turned on my clothes dryer on a Sunday, and I had to stay at home an extra two hours trying to get a load of clothes to get dry. Two, the refrigerator kept having a puddle of water in front of it. It started out as a little puddle and every couple of days, I had to mop in front of the refrigerator, then all of a sudden, it was a big puddle. The handle on my refrigerator looked like it was coming loose, and the light was coming on and off as well. I thought it was the bulb, but one day, the light will be on in there, then another day it will be off.

After I gave all the information for the request, the person I was talking to said they were sending me a link to do a video call because they needed the model numbers for both appliances. They also wanted to take a picture of the appliance model numbers, which was really interesting. I had never done something like that. We did the video call and the lady I talked to was very patient because I don't keep model numbers sitting around. I had try to find them. The light in the refrigerator was dark, and I tried to take pictures then I opened it up enough to read her the numbers after I found it. The first thing I found was the wrong thing and I was reading something that had nothing to do with the model number, but she didn't get frustrated. I said, "Okay, wait, I'm gonna try to do this," then going from the refrigerator upstairs, I had to run downstairs to go in the basement to get the information for the dryer, and she just kept talking to me.

The repair person came and most of the time, I watched him. He was very knowledgeable as well as professional, explained everything that he was doing, and answered my questions when I asked him. It was a good experience all the way around for me, and I haven't had any problems since that happened. I was so used to seeing water on the floor and grabbing the mop every so many days, I still come out to my kitchen and look down, nothing. Also, now I open the refrigerator, and I can see. It's working.

I have had people ask me about American Home Shield and I said I really like the service. I talked about how I called and explained everything that was going on with my appliances and how the lady that I was talking to was very nice. I've already recommended American Home Shield to other people and they said, "Well, I ain't never looked at that." I said, "Yeah, I was really impressed and pleased with the service that I got. And the repair person was excellent." Because sometimes companies will send somebody out, and then I'm pissed off because they don't tell you what they're doing. They do a few things until you're all set, then you have problems later.

Two, my refrigerator went out and they were able to replace that. Once the techs brought it up that it couldn't be fixed, they told us to look for another one. We had a choice of either shopping with them, or they would provide us with a check to go get our own. All the technicians have been good as well. However, I hope if I got really good service from a particular contractor, that could be put on my account as the contractor that I would like. So I don't have to have different people come into my home.

AHS is very easy to use. But with my recent claim, the vendor, ATR didn't contact me. I had to call them because they were slow on the uptake. It was supposed to be within 24 hours. After 72 hours, I reached out to them. They rescheduled me. Two weeks after the initial schedule, they finally were able to get out here. It was well below my expectations, because I expected, when I made my appointment, that they would be available as they said they would. But I got excuse after excuse until I finally got them to commit to coming out. I recommend American Home Shield, just not, particularly that company that they used. But once ATR was able to diagnose the problem after all of the delays, they were also fine.

Every time something went wrong with something at my house and I called, American Home Shield would send this same company, Pro Appliances. The lady that talks to me at Pro Appliances is very nice and professional, but then, the person she sends out can be obnoxious. He wanted a video of the washer and I told him, “We’re not gonna do a video. What do you want me to video? The washer isn’t working. I can send you pictures of the washer. What’s that gonna do? Nothing.” So, I said, “Please send someone out.” He came out after four days and said to my son, “I’m only gonna video. I’m not gonna do anything.” My son said, “What is the video going to do? We really need the washing machine.” He looked at my son and said, “You know what? I’ll be back when I get back in this area,” and with that, he walked out. I asked American Home Shield before not to send that guy out again. The last time we had him, it was the same thing.

I was very unhappy about American Home Shield when they didn’t do something right away about that first company and a big part of the reason this claim has been open over two and a half weeks now from when I first called was that. American Home Shield wouldn't let the current guy come out, because they said they had to hear from me. I called them and they said, “Well, we still have to wait till the other guy cancels out.” I said, “Listen. In the meantime, I’m without a washing machine.” It's not like it's my refrigerator, and it's not life and death, but I would like to get it fixed. It's been a little difficult without a washing machine because there's several of us in the house. I've been having to do laundry at one of my kids' houses.

I've used American Home Shield now for different things, and I highly recommend them. I've even heard from the repairman that we have now, Ben, when I said, “Yeah, I’m a little disappointed because I didn’t want that guy coming back again. And darn, they sent him again.” He said, “I do business with a lot of them, and of all of the home warranty companies, I have to tell you, American Home Shield is really the best,” and that was unsolicited.

Ben has been here twice and tried to fix my washer the first time without having to get a new motherboard. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to fix it. It's one of those high-tech washing machines. It’s not that old and it’s frustrating as hell, but I’m perfectly happy with Ben. He did what he could and thought he might have it fixed, but it isn't. He had to send away for an important part for it. That was going to take several days, and I'm still waiting. In fact, I just texted him again today and asked him if he had any idea when that part might come in. It’s not Ben's or American Home Shield's fault. It’s hard to get materials these days.

I’ve been in real estate since 1970. I have told people over the years, countless times, to get American Home Shield's product, but I didn’t offer it for compensation. I offered it because I understood from people that bought it that it was a good program. I ended up buying it myself as well, but I didn’t get it because I had a bunch of old equipment that was going to go bad. As a matter of fact, I was told that it covered my pool and my computer. I could also get a battery every year, but I haven’t done that. My pool equipment went bad and when I called them on that, the guy came out and said, “It’s not covered.” I had to pay for that myself and that cost me almost $500. I’m not upset with American Home Shield though. They have been responsive to me.

I bought American Home Shield because I thought it would be a safe thing for me to do. I'm not getting any younger, and I don't want to depend on my kids to help me. Also, my range is not that old, and I just bought a brand-new microwave. My washer and dryer weren’t that old either. They were top-of-the-line Kenmore and they have everything you can ask for in a washer and dryer. Plus, I had just put a whole new heating and air conditioning system in and it cost me $6,500. Everything looked reasonably good and I figured, “This is not a bad time to get American Home Shield.”

When my KitchenAid refrigerator went, I had no idea that it would. It was only three years old. American Home Shield covered it, but they only paid about three quarters of it, and I had to pay the difference. They said the reason was they didn’t have anybody delivering in my area. I said, “You got to be kidding me? Then, why can’t you have somebody from another area?” I should have probably cancelled after that, because I was really upset that I had to pay so much money to get my refrigerator fixed.

    Reviewed May 13, 2022

I contacted American Home Shield (AHS) on March 22, 2022 for an issue with my AC. They notified me that a company called ATR was assigned to me. On March 24 a tech came to my house and hosed out my outside unit and said that was all it needed. I told him I was still not getting any cool air from my vents. He said since it was a cool day and wait until it was hotter outside. I did and it never got cooler.

On April 25, I call AHS and told them my AC was still not working. There wasn’t a contractor assigned to my case until 2 days later on April 27. Once I got the notice I found it was the same company who came on March 24. I called ATR and was told they couldn’t come until almost 2 weeks later on May 7. I then called AHS and told them ATR said they couldn’t come for almost 2 weeks so they assigned a company called Air Force One. I had asked AHS not to send Air Force One again because of previous poor service from them in addition to the fact they told me on a previous visit on my downstairs furnace that I needed to have some of my ductwork redone and it wasn’t covered by AHS. They said the cost would be over $1,000 for the work. I had another company come at my expense and they said the work wasn’t needed.

On April 29, Air Force Once came and determined my compressor was bad and said they were going to write up for a replacement. While the tech was there, he told me there was going to need to be a lot of other work done that would be out of pocket from me and the cost would be around $5,000 but they did financing. I told him over the years I have replaced units and never needed to do the work they said I would need to do to replace an existing system.

I called AHS on April 30 and asked what was going to be done and was told they were waiting on the report from Air Force One. I called AHS back on May 2 and asked what was going to be done and was told they were still waiting on Air Force One to send in their report. I called back again on May 3 a couple of times and told AHS rep called Air Force One again and they finally sent over their report 4 days later but listed there was $5,000 in out of pocket expenses that AHS wouldn’t cover. I told the AHS rep about my belief Air Force One wasn’t be honest and what they were stating needed done as out of pocket was required.

I told the rep I have replaced systems in the past and never had issues that Air Force One was saying needed done. As an example, they said I needed duct work, a new thermostat (which I just replaced a few months ago), new drain pan, new drain line, new copper line, new electrical, etc. I actually can have a new system installed for less than Air Force One is saying would be out of pocket expenses.

The rep then said they could get me a cash out offer and I could have someone else do the work. They I would get it within 24 to 48 hours. I called back on the 4th to see if they had an updated since my AC hasn’t been working for weeks but they said I had to give it up to 48 hours. I called back on the 5th which was 48 hours later and was told then never got anything from the cash-out department and was missing some data, They said they would check back into it again and I would have to wait another 24 to 48 hours. I called back on the 6th and asked for an update but told by your escalation department I needed to give it up to 48 hours and I told them I had already been waiting for many days. I called back again on the 7th, now 48 hours for the second time. I was told again that they were still waiting of the cash=out department and they were still missing data and would resubmit again and I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours again.

I spoke to another member of the escalation department and told them I was unhappy and wanted to speak to a Manager but told they couldn’t connect me to a Manager. When I spoke to a member of the escalation department a guy told me he spoke to someone in the cash-out department and he would call me back the next day with an offer. It has been over 2 days from that call and he never called me back or did I get an offer.

I called yesterday May 11 again and was told the still is an issue with the cash-out department and I needed to wait. The lady said she had talked with the guy I spoke with them a couple days earlier who never called me back who she said was working on the case and she would have him call me back last night but yet again that didn’t happen.

I don’t know any more than I did over 10 days ago when I was told I would hear back from them in 24 to 48 hours. When I call AHS I am lied to and have been without an AC for almost a month now. Sometimes when I have spoken with and AHS rep, I have to listen to a rooster in the background while I am being lied to. I have been patient and now telling as many real estate company reps about the service I have received from AHS. The one I purchased my warranty with told me he no longer recommends AHS to his clients because of issues like mine and AHS poor service.

Overall, I'm not that satisfied with the HVAC services for my air conditioning. I've got an older unit so refrigerant is hard to get. But I'm taking the brunt of that cost for filling the unit now. Because right now, I have to pay over $1,000 for a technician to come out and refill my unit with refrigerant after they replaced the coils on it. I just think that's an excessive expense when I'm making monthly payments to them and I only use the plan once every 18 months. I'd like to see AHS take responsibility for more of the cost of supplies.

One time, a technician came out and replaced my garbage disposal, but it took two calls. With the first technicians that came out, they told me nothing was wrong with my garbage disposal. But I told them it was leaking. Eventually, it quit working and the motor burned out. So, I had to make another call and pay another $100 service fee for them to come out and replace it. But overall, AHS provides a good service.

There was a sink and a tub in the same bathroom that were draining slow so TMD Plumbing came out. They didn’t find any major problem. They snaked it and everything was working fine again. That went well. We've had TMD out a few times and they're always very good. The contractors that AHS has sent out have been great. They're very professional. They come on time, diagnose the problem quickly and fix it quickly as well. We have an older house so we like that if there's ever anything that goes wrong with an appliance or plumbing, we just call American Home Shield and they send somebody out, and it's just the copay. The issue usually gets fixed or we've had a number of things that have been replaced.

Typically, we've been happy with AHS but I'm a little disgruntled with them at this moment because our dryer broke and it's been five weeks. They kept sending the same guy out to fix it and he kept bringing the wrong part, and then he'd have to order a new part. And then it was another week. AHS decided to order me a new dryer and when the dryer came, it was for an electric hookup instead of a gas, which is what I have. So, I'm now on Week Six without a dryer. They were supposed to call me yesterday with an update but I didn't get a call yesterday. I don't know if they're having trouble keeping employees or what's going on, but I have to do a lot of legwork and spend a lot of time on the phone just getting follow-up lately. I had two things, my washer and water heater. It's easy to submit the claim. With the washer, whoever that vendor was was wonderful. That guy was wonderful. He came on time, stated the issue, what it could be, and did all his testing. He identified the problem, said it was this, and he rescheduled the appointment for a week later. He cleaned up after himself well. We were out of use of a washer for a week, but we dealt with it. And when he came back, he came back at the time of his appointment, and he replaced the part. It looked like it wasn't that part. He identified the issue. After ongoing tests, he found the issue and he replaced that part, and now the washer works great.

But getting the correct vendor is bad because we had problems with our water heater before. That vendor for the plumber constantly kept canceling. I would see that he would be on his way when I checked the status of him coming out, but it kept getting pushed back by hour. All of a sudden, he couldn't come out. He's bad. We were over two months without hot water. It took that vendor that long to get it. And when he put it in, he didn't do it right because less than a month later, the water heater thing blew up. So, we ended up replacing the hoses ourselves. So, we had a bad experience with that water heater and the vendor that American Home Shield provided us, even after we told them of the number of complaints about them with the Better Business Bureau, AHS still continued to do business with that plumber.

Also, they were supposed to replace a comparable water heater or better. But they gave a much less water heater. Also, they were supposed to refund my service call for that water heater. They haven't done that. I told them I still haven't got that refund because I ended up doing it myself.
