I had a leaking garbage disposal and I filed a claim with AHS. It was online and it was fairly easy, which I like because I can do it at any time, day or night. Also, it's very convenient. I don't have to wait on hold and deal with any pesky call trees. All I had to do is log in to my account and fill out the information that I need. Then, the tech came out and he identified the problem immediately. He had another garbage disposal on his truck and he was able to replace it right then and there. It was a very smooth exchange and that's what I really love about it.

I call American Home Shield and within two days, they have someone out here taking care of the issue. They're pretty good. The only thing I don’t really care for is the people they use ain’t always the best. When my air conditioner started going bad at the beginning of summer, they were having trouble getting people to call. So they told me I could find my own contractor, and they would reimburse me. I went and looked, but a lot of companies won’t work with warranty companies. Other than that, the service is good.
Mel has been good. I’ve talked to him once about the AC, but his communication skill was horrible. He fixed my AC inside the garage, and then he was gone. I used to do air conditioning and usually, you talk to the people before you leave and reassure them that everything is good, and then you leave. But he just disappeared, and then sent a text message saying, “I’m done. You can let your garage down now.” But he does a good job as far as his work.

AHS had Greenway Home Service come out pretty quick and took care of the AC. The only problem was I called to get the maintenance done on my old system because I figured that's why it was warming a little bit and the rep said I was too late because it ended June. She said I have to wait for the heater in September or October. I wasn't too happy about that and I never got anything from anybody telling me I gotta have the maintenance done by this date or else they're not gonna do it.

My AC went out on a Sunday and when I called American Home Shield that day, it takes 24 hours for the claim to go through. So the people called me back Monday but they couldn't get me in till that following week. So I had to sit there and wait and it was hot. I had to let them go and call back American Home Shield to get someone else. When I got ahold of them, they gave me Champs. They came out the next day, which was pretty cool. The tech asked me what was going on and I told him and then he went straight to where he assumed the problem was at. He corrected it and he wasn't here no longer than 30 minutes. It’s working now.
When I called American Home Shield, it was kind of difficult to get through because you get that automated system when you’re just trying to get hold of someone. It took at least 45 minutes for someone to answer. Then when you go through the automated system, you tell them what you want. But when I called initially, the automated system put the wrong thing in. So I had to talk to someone to actually get it straight. When you call to set something up, American Home Shield doesn't give you a choice. They said they go with the first available company that pops up. They don’t ask you who you like or who they're associated with.

American Home Shield's service is trash. I don't get answers all the time. The people that they send don't do the work. I ended up paying $200 for the same man. The first time, he didn't do anything. When I called back the second time, he didn't even come in the house. I'm waiting on a work order right now. The person they did gave me wouldn't even give me an appointment date. They just gave me a day and when they're on their way, they don't call me. That's terrible. So, the people that they contract to are terrible.
Somebody came the other day and fixed my dryer perfectly. He was very polite. He did the job and he took the whole dryer apart and got it working. Last year, I had a problem with my air conditioner, and the techs came out twice. Rright now, somebody is coming on Monday for the same problem. So, this would be $300 I did pay Home Shield, and I still got the same problem. I would like them to fix the appliances they're coming to fix. They said I gotta call two times before it's even replaced. This is the third time. I still got the same problem. It's terrible. I'm thinking about canceling and see if I can go with somebody else.

Every time I call, AHS' customer service is good. They take care of my problems. They listen to me. This particular girl I call, I've spoken to her a couple of times and each time, she was able to talk to me and let me know that they would fix my appliance. And they have always come through for me. So, I liked them. The contractor just finished servicing my fridge, but it's not working yet. It was supposed to have been finished, but yesterday I noticed that the light is off again. I'm supposed to call American Home Shield to let them know so that they can tell the contractor to come back and fix it.
The only problem is the company AHS uses to fix the appliances. I also had a previous claim which was not taken care of. The company AHS sent came by a couple of times but never got my appliances fixed. I kept calling them, but they're having problems. But the new company AHS sent was good. I did not have a good experience with the first one. But the second one, I kept their number. I'll call them to come. When I have anything, I'm gonna tell AHS to send that company.

The garage door stopped working. It wouldn't go up anymore. When I called AHS, I told them that it was broken. We got somebody to go look at it earlier and they noticed that the spring was cut in half. When I called, I asked them if it was covered under warranty, and they said it was. I got the name and the phone number of the company and they contacted me right away, like two minutes after hanging up with AHS. It was very good when they came. They noticed that the spring was broken in half. They said what they were going to fix it and they did. They were very professional and I was impressed. I would definitely go with them again. AHS is really good and they've saved me a lot of money. I'm very happy with them.

I'm liking American Home Shield so far. I put in a claim and doing the virtual video was new. Doing that fast after I had put in the request was easy. A person guided me through looking up all the different model numbers and scanning the dishwasher and the stove. The company that came out, ARRQ, did a good job. They were very informative about why the issues I was having were an issue, and what we can do moving forward so it's not an issue again. There was a clog in the stove and the repairman showed me how to open up the stove and get into the clog next time. For the pump being broken on my dishwasher, he showed why it got worse over time, which I didn't even know was the issue at the time. He did a good job of communicating with his company, coming right back, and being able to bring different pieces that needed to be fixed. He cleaned up afterwards and was able to be in and out quick.

Our AC unit appeared to be low on freon. There were three small leaks that the AC repairman was able to locate and repair. He recharged our system and it has been working since. On some issues, the case was handled spot-on. But sometimes it hit outside the box and there were issues. Six months ago, we had called on that air conditioner that AC Rescue fixed. The other guy that came out before them said it was low on freon so he just topped it off. But I had to call and dispute it ‘cause the guy who first came out said that he saw visible damage. There was no visible damage to my unit. What he was saying was when the AC unit leaked, there was PAG oil in there. He visibly saw PAG oil off the connector up on top so that was the visible damage that he observed.
American Home Shield doesn't know anything about AC repair. They're a home warranty company. Under their contract, the way they’re read is they cover normal wear and tear. But they won't do physical damage, which means it makes perfect sense. I can't take a hammer to my unit, beat it up, then call them and tell them to come fix it. When I tried to explain that to the poor girl on the line, she didn't get it. I had to go through the dispute process. The thing that could have lowered my frustration on that whole episode was for me to know that there was a dispute process available to me before I lost my mind on them. Fortunately, after I got revved up and let them have it, they said, “Do you wanna dispute this?”
We had a different guy come out. I explained to the guy that came what the other guy found and what he said about the visible damage. I told the new guy he needed to make sure to let American Home Shield know that I didn't damage my unit. He did and American Home Shield covered it. But it was a lot of angst to get there because it was the summertime and I didn't have any AC.

I submitted a claim for the AC and American Home Shield got back to me and set me up with an appointment with a company to come out and repair it. That company came out and realized that it was not a mechanical issue, but it was more electrical. So American Home Shield sent out someone else after that company. But both companies they sent out were top-notch. They were very, very, very knowledgeable, and explained what the problem was. The second guy came out, saw the problem, and then said, "This is what it is. We could take this, that and the other." It took all of 20 minutes to fix it. I'm glad to have American Home Shield. It took me a minute to even get the warranty service. It's a great, fast and efficient service. I definitely would recommend them.

The refrigerator wasn't making any ice and no water was coming out. We called AHS and they took care of it. But at first, I was wondering why it took forever to get somebody to come out. Then, the contractor told me they couldn't do anything because I need a professional and they couldn't do it. Eventually, the other guy did it. He let me know when he was coming and when he arrived, he checked the refrigerator and told me exactly what was wrong with it. He ordered the part and then called me back when he got it. He did a really good job.

American Home Shield sent Harvey's Plumbing for a claim involving a sink. The plumber was timely and did the test as required. It looks clean and neat under the sink, and the dripping has stopped. As far as AHS, I like the timely responses. And while they're expensive, currently, they're meeting expectations. I've had problems with contractors though. I've argued with contractors who said, "Job Complete." They put a knob in, and you can't turn the knob. That took about three tries. American Home Shield gave me the runaround on that one. With the separate issue, they were able to get ahold of a contractor that they recognized and was very good.

I used American Home Shield for a washing machine and they sent a company out promptly to service it. It was old and they would send back recommending that it’d get replaced because of the age of it and it wasn’t washing efficiently. But I didn't get a good reply back from them. I can't really put it on Home Shield, though since I've never seen a report that went back to them. I asked for it several times but never received it. I also used AHS when my air conditioner went out and they promptly sent somebody out. The first company that they called gave me a very long lead time. I called AHS back and they researched and got somebody over the next day. All in all, AHS has been honest and upfront. I also feel like I get what I'm paying for.

My air went out and I called American Home Shield. But it was gonna be about three weeks for somebody to come out. I understood the crunch on time because everything was contracted out, and everybody was having problems. So I was willing to wait that time. But my brother come through and he repaired it. I like calling in my claim way better because I get an email immediately. When I have to go online, I got to know my password. So I would rather call. American Home Shield has done what they said they were gonna do for me. Whatever it is, they either fix or replace it.
I love American Home Shield. But I hate Choice Plumbing, Heating, and AC. The person that they sent out there was ignorant and condescending. He was horrible. He never repaired anything. He kept telling me how bad Choice was and he said, “They owe me over $2,000.” I told him that was not my problem. He also told me, “If you want me to fix this here, you have to pay me.” But I told him that was not gonna happen.

I called American Home Shield and asked them to have someone come out and work on my spa hot tub. Techs came and said the claim was denied because it was due to freezing. But this was in the middle of summer so I contested it. American Home Shield sent another person out to check it. He told them the part was cracked so again, the home warranty blamed it on a freeze in the middle of summer, which didn't make sense. I asked for my money back because they billed me the fee to send the repairmen out. They told me I'd get a refund but I never did.
That aside, American Home Shield is okay for the most part. I called them recently about a plumbing issue and a couple of days there, they had a plumber there. He fixed the issue right away. The spa claim was just one issue that wasn't handled well. The other thing is sometimes it's difficult to talk to somebody in another country. When I call in, I'm not talking to a person in the US.
Also, you never know who they're going to send as the provider. If I have a plumber come to my house and he does a perfect job, I'll probably get somebody else when I call back. Why can’t I get the same plumber that came out that did a good job? American Home Shield builds up a little confidence in that and every time we get a new guy, we don't know who they are, where they come from, and what job they do. We have had the same air conditioning repair guy for 15 years and we trust them. If I call American Home Shield again and I could ask for the same company, I'd be glad to do that. They could also look it up and ask, “We had Jay’s Plumbing come out last time. Can they come out again?” We'd say, “They did a good job. That'd be good.”

I've had American Home Shield a few months and so far, I'm happy with them. I just bought my house last year and the sellers paid for a full year's home warranty with Old Republic. I used them a couple of times and one thing that I didn't like about them is they were always really hard to reach when I needed customer service. My boss at work and I talked about home warranties. He and his wife have American Home Shield, and he told me about them. I looked into it, went to the website, and instead of renewing with the one I had, I went with American Home Shield. One of the deciding factors was, because Old Republic didn't have any kind of coverage for my septic tank, and they did.
I had an issue with my ice dispenser and I had two different contractors come out. I had to have a second opinion, because the first one tried to say that it was not wear and tear and that I broke it due to excessive force. It was weird, because he barely even looked at it. I pulled the ice bin out, and he just glanced down and made a note. He said, "All right. Well, American Home Shield will be contacting you." I didn't hear anything back from him, and it wasn't until I logged into my home warranty account that I saw that he notated all that.
When the second contractor came out, he seemed like he knew what he was doing compared to the first guy, and he was awesome. He was more extensive, and he did stuff to the freezer to make sure. I told him about the first time and he said, "Was it All Brands Appliance and Repair?" I said, "I'm not really sure." I logged into my American Home Shield account to look at the information, and that's who it was. The second contractor told me that All Brands Appliance and Repair is known for doing that to people. A lot of people are just gullible enough to be, "Oh, well. I guess there's nothing I can do." They go ahead and pay for the repair, and they're getting screwed out of their warranty that they're paying for.

I was experiencing a loud vibration and throwing sound coming from my unit. It was shaking the whole house and making my pictures rattle. The contractor, Comfort First Heating & Cooling, did a very good job. They explained what they found was going on each step and gave me every opportunity to understand it. They replaced a fan blade and the fan motor.
Recently, AHS's rate jumped by almost $20 a month. I didn't feel that was communicated very well. It caught me by surprise. After the price increase had gone into effect, I requested service on the air conditioning parts. Because of that, I couldn't try to figure out a lower tier of coverage because I had already put in the request at the new price rate. I was a bit disappointed in that.

I had regular service for my AC through American Home Shield. I had the spring service prior to that, and they had mentioned that something in the condenser would fail but they couldn't do anything about it because that would have to be a separate call. The guy said, “Well, I could replace it. But that's another call.” I called again to have someone come and check it. Then I was told, “Well, it's fine. We can't really do anything unless it fails.”
American Home Shield's website is user-friendly. It's like three steps, and you can make a claim. I receive an email telling me who is coming, and who is assigned to the ticket. Then, I receive a text. Then the day of, I get a phone call with approximate arrival. They already indicate that in the text, but then they still confirm. So, I get an email, text, and call. The service companies are very professional and on time. AHS is pretty good. They have come in handy. I had replaced something with my air conditioning, and the company was great. They took care of the problem right away. Having AHS is peace of mind that I'm not going to be shelling out thousands of dollars. So, I was grateful for that.

I like the service okay but sometimes I don't like the technicians they send out. The electrician they sent out for my electrical work came out pretty quickly but he didn't find a problem. He said that he was going to get someone to help out with whatever he needed to do but he never came back. He didn't call and when I called, he never returned my call. I called American Home Shield to request another electrician and they assured me that they were gonna call me back but I haven't heard anything from them as of yet. But when Integrity Plumbing came out for the low water pressure in the house, he tried to see if AHS covers my water softener. They don't but he at least checked into it, which was nice.
The home warranty is a great benefit for me as far as single living and don't have anybody to help out around. It works out pretty good. The price of it went up, though, to $82.99 from $69. That’s a big jump. And the service went from $75 to $100, which is a big jump, too. That was kind of a shocker. I was hoping to be at least kind of grandfathered in if they did have to raise prices.

My ice maker wasn't getting water to it, so J & J fixed it. I put the order to American Home Shield at like 5:00 in the morning, and the tech called me at 7:00 AM. He came out that morning. I put in another claim for my kitchen faucet and toilet. They wanted to give me a crappy-looking thing, and I don't have cheap in my house.
I've had American Home Shield for five years, and I ended up buying a brand-new air conditioner unit. All I wanted was for them to cash me out for the piece that they want. First, they gave me a repair guy and I looked him up. The reviews from customers were horrible. I called them back and I said, "I don't want this guy in my house. I don't want his company in my house." They sent me another one. They came out and they looked at the air conditioning and said, "Oh, we don't service this type." They sent me out another one and he said, "Oh, yes, we serve."
The secret to keeping an air conditioner working is to change the air filter every month. Every month I change it. The fifth guy came out and got up into the attic. I was thinking, "What the hell is going on up there?" He came down and said, "You need to remove that beam." I said, "What? That's structural." "Well, you need to remove it so we can work on the unit." I argued with them. I called my contractor up that I worked with. She sent out her air conditioning guy, and they didn't have to remove any beams. It cost me $7,500 and got it taken care of. What was wrong was the circuit board broke out. All they had to do was replace the circuit board, but since it was so old, I just replaced the whole heating and air conditioning.

I am now told that it's the compressor, almost every part of the system has now been replaced with aftermarket parts for a 5-ton central AC. This will mean that I will have to recharge the system for a second time that's another $600 on top of the contract service fees. If this would have been done in 1-2 days fine I might have lived with it. It has been one week (little leeway because of the 4th of July) and the contractor does not let me know of the status and neither does AHS. I called today and the contractor just "submitted" the claim for the compressor. I have no idea how long this will take. I would STRONGLY recommend to AVOID this company they are more concerned with their marketing reviews, sales, and renewals than taking care of their customers.

The pilot wouldn't stay lit on our hot water heater. There's a flame detector built into the pilot system and it wasn't detecting flame. I called AHS and got the approval. They had a plumbing company scheduled and they came out and did the work. They cleaned all the parts and now, everything works and there's hot water. Another claim was there was a gas valve that needed to be replaced for the dryer. It was leaking gas and I had to shut the main gas valve off. It went similarly well. Having AHS is convenient and it saves money. I've had them as my home warranty company since I bought a house a decade ago. They probably were not happy to have me as a customer then because in that house, they ended up replacing my hot water heater, the garbage disposal, and all sorts of stuff. I only paid the call-out fee.

I submitted a request through the American Home Shield website. They changed the way that contractor is assigned. The way that it worked in the past was the person that was assigned would contact you to set up an appointment time. That was not what happened in this instance. I checked the website for an update because I got a text that same night saying somebody's been assigned. All I got from the website was that I needed to contact the contractor myself. If I had known that that part had changed, I would have called them sooner instead of waiting a day and sweltering through the weekend.
The contractor sent text messages prior to them coming out letting us know that we needed to make sure the unit was off and what the next steps would be if certain things weren't done prior, which was very clear to follow. When their tech came out, he was able to fix the unit that same day. He was in and out of my house in less than an hour because he had the necessary part in his vehicle to repair my unit. I was absolutely happy with the service that was provided. They were really clear with explaining what had gone wrong with my unit as well as the resolution.
I got a call about a month ago to renew my contract with American Home Shield and I was happy to do so because I've had a few things going on in the last year and it's been great. I normally had a fast response time. I went over the new pricing package for this updated contract and agreed to it. The contract was renewed on June 23rd. The contract amount was $1,400 and 117 was supposed to be taken out on a monthly basis with the checking account that we've had on file on auto pay.
When the contract renewal happened, they took out the annual amount instead of the monthly amount. They refused to refund the money. I was given the runaround over the course of seven days. Last Thursday I think I called them and every agent that I spoke to said they couldn't help me and that wasn't something that was within their purview to assist me with. They would need to have somebody call me back. I never got a callback so I would call again. I called back on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. The person I spoke with on Tuesday said they would investigate on their end. But there was nothing to investigate as far as I'm concerned because they overdrew my bank account. I've had payments kicked back because I had to take money from my savings account and put it into my checking account to cover all of the other things. There were a lot of extra steps that were taken there.
On the whole, American Home Shield sucks and I'm so disappointed with them. I had spoken to seven different agents throughout the last week up until the point that I was told that they needed to investigate. I asked to speak to a supervisor and no one was available but they could call me back in 24 to 48 hours. I asked to have my contract cancelled and they sent me over to the retention department. The retention department then was able to give me the refund for the money that was taken from my account. My experience with this renewed contract cycle has been less than stellar compared to everything else prior to this. I'm not a happy camper with American Home Shield. But when it comes to actually sending out technicians, that has been great for the last 13 months that I've been dealing with them.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you about your ongoing concerns.

Something happened to the AC to make it freeze up but whatever was going on, it went on the outside. The gentleman checked my filter too and made sure it was clean. Then, he turned the heater on. He was a few minutes early and did a wonderful job. I know his family from around town, so we just shot the breeze while he worked.
We've had American Home Shield close to a year now, and we had one at our previous home as well. It's $100 and you can get whatever you need fixed, fixed. It’s a no-brainer, and every experience I've had with them has been positive. Every claim I've submitted has been simple and done within five minutes. I've done all mine online, and it's just quick, quick, quick, then boom, it's done. Their service speaks for itself, and it's one of the best I've ever seen. I have no problem with AHS in their promise in assigning a contractor to me. But one technician is gonna have to come out for the third time. He's not fixing the problem. The claim was put in for a leak under the kitchen sink and the guest bathroom toilet occasionally sounds like it's running. When he came out to fix the sink the first time, he thought it was the hose from the faucet that was loose, and water was running down that pipe to under the sink. That didn't turn out to be it because the next time he came, it happened again. Water was puddled under the sink. He said that it needed to be caulked around where the granite and the sink meet. But he's done a very sloppy job of caulking it. I haven't put stuff back under the sink because I don't know whether it's finally fixed or not. The bathroom door stays closed most of the time but I've gone down the hallway, and I hear that “flushing” sound again. He had replaced a part he said.
I've used AHS previously at other houses. The other contractor that they assigned was for my kitchen stove. The guy had to order two burners, came back out, and fixed it. But I have had an experience where the contractor was ugly at the house before I bought this one. I asked AHS to go ahead and take that person off the list of being assigned to me. I've already said the same thing about this Wades Plumbing also. I don't want to use them again but understand this is under a 30-day guarantee so he needs to come out and fix the problem.
I hope that American Home Shield is asking customers if the work has been done in a timely manner and satisfactorily. This same plumbing company, when they were assigned to me, I didn't hear anything for days and days. I kept leaving voicemail messages. I couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. When I finally, the next week, was able to talk to a person, I asked her what was taking so long. She said she's been on vacation. When I had to recall and have him come back out, I still had an issue with making an appointment. I would call and couldn't leave a message because the voicemail box was full.
I called AHS and told them to go ahead and take the company off my list. This company doesn't care that the problem has inconvenienced their customer. AHS needs to be more aware of what's going on, and maybe more people like me are not complaining. But I'm gonna complain. I live alone and don't have anybody that can fix it. That's why I pay the AHS fee every month. I had paid AHS for years and years. Another problem was the water heater needed to be replaced. When it was to be replaced, it had to be “brought up to code.” Instead of paying a mere $75, I had to pay over 1,000 to get a new water heater. I still am not happy about that, but I had to pay it to have a water.

I had an AC that seemed a little warm. I didn't know why. So, I had to call the contractor out. The technician that came educated me and had me look out for some things that the previous contractor didn't bother to look at. They just wanted to charge me all this money to fix it, stating that the issue was done under warranty. But the contractor American Home Shield sent out said, “That's not so. Everything is working.” His candor was superb. And that was the most important thing I got out of it.
I like having a warranty and not having to pay expensive costs, like for HVAC replacements. I would rather pay a small deductible of $100 when someone comes out, and that would be done. Having AHS helps cut down on trying to find a contractor to do the work because they have contractors assigned to them. That is a great benefit. It cuts a lot of time out.

But they have a service provider in the area now, so it makes it simple. Within a day or two, you're gonna see somebody. I’m well pleased with it. Recently, my refrigerator was having problems with the cooling. A repairman, Ricky, came out and checked it. He's knowledgeable in appliance systems, easy to talk to, and pleasant to be around. There were some internal issues he realized that’s gonna have to be replaced. American Home Shield sent me something saying that they were replacing it. The techs that AHS sent came out to fix the AC the first time and discovered that they didn't have a fan that fit, so they had to order the part. I had to wait a week, so I had no air conditioning. They got the part in, and they put the new part in. Dennis from A-US Air Condition let me know that when they were here, they had overfilled it. He said I was only supposed to have 75 psi. After they filled it, I had over 100 psi. Who paid for all that Freon? He said, “Oh, you didn't pay for it.” But nobody could mansplain it to me as to how I didn’t pay for it. He told me that that blew the valve on the new compressor that they got me. So, now, they have to get me a new compressor valve that doesn't scream. My neighbors are complaining because it's so loud. Then, my garbage disposal and my two toilets, which I all had checked over a year ago, weren't flushing right. The contractor replaced the two toilets as well as the water heater which was dripping out of the faucet. We bought an older house and the water heater was 27 years old. Water heaters don't last but five to 10 years so, it was just a matter of time. Everything in the house was a fixer upper so a lot of this stuff is going to end up failing and one by one, it does. So, AHS has been great as far as having it knowing that it's just given time that these things are gonna fall apart.

We usually call American Home Shield for our claims and talk to somebody that doesn't speak English, and then they set up the claim. I did have a problem with them at first. Our bathtub was leaking a little bit. I think the faucet needed to be replaced. They sent somebody out and they said, “Oh, well, it was pre-existing.” So, they didn't do anything with it, but they charged me $100 just for the service call. The floor was a little bit warped, but when we crawled underneath there, the floor was fine. It was probably just the tiles getting wet from the tub.
Then, we have been waiting so long on them when that happened that I got somebody out here to look at the well pump. When we bought the place, we got the electricity put in our name and we didn't move in until February. We're trying to understand why we have a $150 electric bill. Come to find out the pump was continuously running. I ended up calling a contractor out here to do it myself because I'm not gonna sit there and wait on them. I got a seven-year-old and a 17-year-old now. I'm not gonna sit there and wait a week or two for them to get somebody out here, and then they got to go back and fill out this report, and then they got to send it into them, and then they need to get ahold of me to let me know what the problem is and take at least a week. I didn't have that kind of time at the time.
I was very dissatisfied with this latest experience I had except for when they came out and fixed the air conditioner. They were prompt about that. I was impressed with that. But when they sent somebody out and charged me 100 bucks to tell me it was pre-existing, I could have told them it was pre-existing before he even came out here. I'm not very happy with it because I paid $850 to get this coverage and the only thing they've done for me is change my thermostat.

I had an air conditioning issue and the techs that came corrected that even though at first, they said it was a little tricky. I recently had a stopped-up shower and then a dishwasher that had an issue. Techs fixed those a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy about that. I couldn't deal with the stopped shower and then the dishwasher. So far, so good and I'm happy with the coverage. I learned late that you can change certain things so it gets multiple issues. That's good.

There was a problem with the air conditioner. The water was backing up, then it was a plumbing issue and it went through our ceiling. When I called AHS to file a claim, a contractor came out on their behalf and fixed it. He was very nice. So far, we've had good experiences with AHS, except for things where one person tries to pass it on to another visit. But not for American Home Shield.

I called in for a problem with my microwave. American Home Shield sent the microwave and the guy was getting ready to install it but when he opened the box up, the microwave was broken. So he called it in and American Home Shield was reordering the microwave to send a new one. But they dropped the ball. They never ordered the microwave. So I waited a whole month.
American Home Shield ordered another microwave and it came. But when they did the order, they didn't put in that somebody was supposed to install the microwave. I told them, "How's that fair to me when that was my original? Someone to install the microwave." The lady that I spoke to said that she put it on a list for a contractor to come out and install the microwave. A couple of weeks passed, but no one called or showed up. I called American Home Shield and they said that no one accepted the contract to come out and install my microwave.
I had to find someone to install my microwave. American Home Shield said, "We'll give you $125 to find your own contractor to install the microwave. However, they have to be licensed and all this and here's the list and all of this." They sent me a list of people not to select and if I select someone, they had to have a license and certification. So as soon as my contract is up, I will probably be leaving American Home Shield because I didn't appreciate that. I would not recommend American Home Shield.

The ac unit was freezing up. I sent the claim in online. It was over the weekend, so it took a while for the contractor to get back to me. But they got to me after the holiday weekend was over. They put some freon in and replaced the valve that was leaking. However, it’s a toss-up right now if I’m gonna continue with American Home Shield. I’m paying 100 bucks. I didn’t pay for the valve replacement, but I had no idea what that value was. And I had to pay for some of the Freon.
It’s my gut feeling that the people coming probably will do the minimum, just because if they go overboard with replacements or fixes, that doesn’t necessarily look good on their record with AHS. So, in some ways, they do what’s needed but don’t push beyond to make a sale. It’s to my advantage because they’re not looking to stick AHS with a lot of expenses. So, they do what’s needed and leave, instead of some that might come and sell me on a home with the new system when I don’t need it. But as far as cost-wise, it’s $600 a year for me.

I got American Home Shield back because of them fixing my icebox when it needs it or fixing my stove when it needs it. I like them. But when I had someone come out to fix my AC, he wasn't able to. I need the paperwork on what they cover. Because I had it, but it has been so long. I need to know what all they cover. So when contractors come out, but they say they don't cover it, we’ve got the paperwork. Other than that, they’re great. It's just I need to make sure that when they say, "Oh, that's not covered" and it is covered. Because they would say, "We could do it for this much because it's not covered." But if it's covered, I want them to fix it. The AC is running, but it's still hot. The reason why I have this insurance is to make sure that it will cover whatever. The only thing that's bothering me is, I know I owe them, but I'm on LOA so I'm having a hard time right now to pay anybody. I'm going through a lot. We can't afford to pay someone to come out.

American Home Shield sent out a technician two or three times to fix the same problem of our refrigerator. After the third time, they were just supposed to replace the whole unit. I called them five days after the cut off window. You’re supposed to call within 60 days. They said they were gonna have to reopen a whole new claim and have the techs fix the refrigerator. But it was the same problem. The compressor on the refrigerator went out three times. The same person installed a new one three times. American Home Shield just need to replace it. But they said they could not do that. After that one experience with the refrigerator, I'm still a little irritated with American Home Shield but technicality speaking, it was partially my fault and they were correct. But there should be a grace period there. They could have done a little better on their customer service side of things too.
We ended up canceling our subscription with them. But then we decided that we wanted to get them back because we liked having the home warranty. Since we signed back up, the claims have been well. We ended up needing to use it for our air conditioning unit. Techs are supposed to come back out and do something else on it because now the blower motor went out and it's low on Freon.

I had requested 3 items in my home to be serviced. 1. Faulty shower cartridge issue, 2. Dishwasher Leaking and 3. Washing machine and Dryer. The service request was made, and the appliance representative and plumber came to my home on April 29. To date, I have called weekly to get a status on the shower cartridge repair and the dishwasher, it's been 10 weeks since they were in my home, and I have been told weekly that a manager from the escalation department will contact me.
To this date I have not had a resolution on how they are going to proceed. The management company of my building has told me that if the water is leaking in the walls to any neighboring apartments, I will be responsible for the damage. American Home Shield has not provided me with any status on how they are going to proceed with this matter. I do not recommend this company.

The air conditioning unit downstairs wasn't working. When the techs came out, the first diagnosis was that there wasn't enough Freon. American Home Shield only covered $10 per pound on Freon and it costs $100. It wasn't going to be covered, which was disappointing. But, what ended up happening was the tech started to put the Freon and then saw it wasn't a Freon issue. He said it was freezing up so fast. He went up and took a look at the blower unit and said that was where the problem was and ended up fixing the job the same day, and ordering the parts. I had asked him about what would this job normally have run and he said it wouldn't be any less than $1,800. So, for me, that one was a good example of where AHS came in handy to have.
The AC has been working well. They were all great. They did everything I could have asked for. When the tech found it was a part, he came back that same day. He realized he needed another part and they had another technician go and get and then meet the technician that was at my house. I couldn't ask for more from Liberty Plumbing on that event.

I have 14 policies with American Home Shield, and I have had some very mixed results. It's high, medium, and low with regards to my experience with Home Shield, depending upon which case and which issue. We're waiting on them right now to respond to a two-week old issue regarding a kitchen sink stoppage. In that case, they're not very good. When we had an issue with electrical and the lights were blinking, Circle S came and it was a good experience. The middle part is we have an issue with the garage door that the paperwork is not caught up with, so that's a lukewarm response too.
In general, it's very difficult to talk to a live person you can have a conversation with, and in many cases, you can’t understand them. Their customer reps are pronunciating well, but they have a heavy accent a lot of times and it’s difficult to make out what they're saying. You also have to manipulate the system to find a live person who’s gonna handle your problem. However, I've been a Home Shield customer for over 20 years and I expect there to be issues. We use them in a business to business way, so I understand things aren't going to be always straight A. I have other home warranty companies that I work with, and in those cases, typically, I have a rep that I can deal with directly, which makes the process so much easier.

Overall, we like American Home Shield. We've been with them for years, and with the time that they have sent people out, it's worked out great. However, we've had some bad experiences with a few of the companies they've sent. This happened years ago where the company said that they were going to be out here a different time. They made the appointment for us without even talking to us. We got it under text that they'd be here. We were here for the appointment, but they never came. We had to do an investigation with them and it was a big mishap. It delayed our progress in getting fixed.
Recently, we had our AC worked on. The experience was both good and bad. A contractor came out on the 29th and fixed my AC. I'm not too happy I had to pay extra for the coolant, but it is what it is. We had a leak which they fixed but two days later, it started breaking down again. I had to wait till yesterday for them to come out and fix it again. It was a different technician and a different issue but the same company. It's weird how they didn’t see it the first time. Within a few days, another piece on that air conditioner broke. The guy was here yesterday and everything seems to be working great today. In our first visit, we had a guy named Michael. He was very pleasant with us. He was training the other guy. The second guy that came out was less talkative, and just came in here, did the job, and left. But he got the job done. I'm assuming they purposely sent a more experienced tech to look at it.
One thing that bugged especially my wife was my air was out and it was a recall. Since they'd already come out, we should have gotten a little bit higher priority to get it fixed. But when she was on the phone, they said they were gonna contact us between 24 and 48 hours. I've never heard of that much of a wait. I figured it was her mistake in not saying it because then we heard from them the next day and everything went well.
I'm very happy and thankful that we have American Home Shield. It's helped us in many occasions. I usually do a claim online. It is quicker, and I enjoy that aspect. But what happened was, in this case, I had a call back. The phone call was funny. I had a five-minute hold, waiting time. It gave me the offer to call me back and I went ahead and did that. An hour and a half later, they called back. While I was waiting for the hour and a half, I figured out how to do it online right away. The lady called and she double-checked everything with me. She had an accent that I had a little trouble understanding. But overall, I understood everything.

American Home Shield has been pretty good for me. They reacted every time with no problem. The thing is that some things aren't their fault. Right now, our water heater claim is not done yet. The only thing I found was they confused me with this because when I read the email they sent, it basically said that I was disapproved then it said, “Hit this accept button.” I was only worried that when I hit the button, they would say something different.
I called American Home Shield and I got somebody who said, “No, you're not disapproved. It's the item here that is not covered by your warranty.” The piping isn't in accordance with how to install an Apollo system, even though it's been like that since American Home Shield replaced that water heater 11 years ago. It wasn't their fault. It’s just the plumber came in and hooked it up like that and it worked great. Now, they wanna do major changes because they say it's not up to code. I accept that.
I also have a refrigerator claim that’s not yet done. Price Right Plumbing was the contractor assigned for that. I was told to contact them because there's something that had to be done that I had to pay for. All the tech did was come out and look at it and said it was leaking. The way it is right now, that stuff is not readily available.
I haven't used American Home Shield very much. I had it in place because when I bought my place, the stuff here were already old and just chugging along. I've had my refrigerator for 18 years. That one died and that's also being handled by American Home Shield. I got an email from the company that American Home Shield assigned to us and all it said was they would contact me when they had the unit and were ready to install it. They would then schedule the service. If somebody has a new house with all new appliances and they're two years old, I don't recommend any warranty service. But if they have a few years on them, then I recommend having one.

The first time, the air conditioning would come on, but there was absolutely no cooling. The tech found the capacitor was bad. But he did not do any other investigation of the unit. He didn't go into the crawlspace. I called because I noticed a couple of days ago that it was still running, but it was not cooling as well as it should be. I also noticed that the air coming through the vents wasn't coming up as forcefully as it normally does, so I decided to change the filter on it, even though I had changed it a few months ago. To do that, I had to go into the crawlspace.
I took a new filter with me down to the crawlspace yesterday and as soon as I got under there, I noticed that the closest ductwork to me at that point, looked odd. I saw water in the crawlspace and I looked and it appears to be coming from the air conditioning unit. I put in the request for American Home Shield that something was not right and that we're gonna have to have a repeat visit. They told me that they couldn't get here until tomorrow, and so they're coming.
What concerns me is that AHS never has anybody that comes here that's local. And we have a ton of services in the area. For instance, the air conditioning and heating. I've also had plumbing. They replaced a hot water heater for me a few years ago and that guy came from Montgomery. I had somebody here a couple of weeks to see about my refrigerator and my double oven and he came from Columbus, Georgia. I don't understand why AHS can't get somebody local.

When I first moved to Texas over 22 years ago, I them with my first house. The warranty pays for itself. The air conditioning went out and I had to wait about four days to get some service versus 24 hours. I had to go buy a window unit and put it in one room until we could get someone out to service it. American Home Shield has been pretty good. I haven't had any problems with it since I've been a member for a few years. Every time I made a service call, everything is pretty sufficient. I've had to make a service call for my air, hot water heater and garbage disposal, and the contractors have come out in a timely manner. I'm pretty satisfied with them. The last thing I've made a service call on was for electrical. Wiley Electric came out and had the problem resolved pretty quickly. My circuit breaker had to be replaced, and they didn't have to come back.
The agents are really friendly and understanding. Usually I'm calling them because I have a question about something with some coverage and they make sure that I have all my questions answered. I submit service requests online 'cause normally, when I have an issue, it's after hours. However, the last one that I had was done over the phone with a rep and it was because I had some questions with the electrical. Answering online, it didn't really give me a lot of options of what to select. So I wasn't for sure. I'm overall satisfied with American Home Shield. I'm constantly paying $75 for somebody to come out and fix my dryer and he probably took the new part back and sold it twice. I’m angry about that. I kept telling AHS that these people do nothing. I've had my dryer a long time and they're gonna tell me how to run my dryer.
Also, I had an air conditioning problem. That didn’t get fixed. I had to get it fixed on the outside. When I called back, that's when the rep gave me Express Heating & Air and they were good. But AHS has crappy people who work for them. The only reason why I kept them was that I had a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine and my friend kept saying, "No, just wait. I sent in a claim and when I got the call to confirm the appointment, I let American Home Shield know that I had temporarily hooked up another water heater and asked if that was gonna be an issue. It was just a little small one. It was just enough to get a hot beginning of a shower. I had asked if I needed to switch it back over, and the rep said no. When the tech got here, he said, "Yes, because per the warranty, everything needed to be as is and connected." Luckily, he waited for us to reconnect the water heater. So overall, it was fine. We've had some issues with American Home Shield like their slow response time and my paying some things that I didn't think I should have paid because I'm already paying so much a month just to have it. So, that's sort of bothered me a little bit but overall, just having that comfort that there's somebody there to pay for some very expensive stuff has been an advantage for me.
Eagle came out recently for the AC. They looked at the air conditioning system and it was working when they left, but I don't know if they tested enough at a low temperature because later on, it started doing the same thing it was doing before they came out. They're gonna come out again tomorrow to take another look at it. I’m gonna stay with them a little longer and tell them what's going on. They might have missed something.
In the last experience with the air conditioner, I was trying to get it fixed and there were certain parts they wanted the air conditioner people to put in. They cost me a lot of money and I had an estimate from someone else and it didn't cost that much. When I asked the company that came out why, they said, “Well, we have to do this in case you call back, and they charge us again ‘cause you're not happy with the service. So we have to do the parts again.” I said, “Really? ‘Cause the parts, they're not old. It's a new system, three or four years old. So why you got to do all of that?” I had just had it checked out with someone else, and that bothered me a little bit. Then they came back and they had an offer to buy a new system from the same company with a different connection. I felt like I was being taken to the cleaners.
One time I said I was gonna just cancel the program because I wasn't happy, but they came back and got the air conditioning people back out, and they fixed it. It was too time-consuming. I didn't feel like it was as fast as it should have been. It might have had a lot to do with the communication with the upfront folks because I talked to one person, then they were gonna send me to a supervisor and when I got to the supervisor, that person spoke bad English too. He was worse than the first one. It's almost like they transferred it down the hall. I felt like I was getting the runaround.
I wish AHS would have somebody that could speak good English. They're doing what a lot of people do. They're shopping it out. So, sometimes it's very difficult to understand what the other person is saying. It's difficult trying to explain what's going on and sometimes, it gets muddled a little bit. They were terrible, but it's inconvenient when you have to call them back.

The service lately, with the washing machine, was aggravating, but it's been taken care of. My mom has a washing machine without an agitator. I asked her and she said she'd never get one another one without it. I told the American Home Shield person, "I want it with the agitator." To a degree, I was run around and told I was gonna have to do a restocking fee. I asked for someone to send me an email with their name and information. “Well, I can’t do that,” then the rep, Han, was able to send me an email with some information. She was totally awesome. I was able to get what I needed to be taken care of, and a washing machine with an agitator will finally be delivered this Thursday. So I’m with happy with it.
My AC also went out, and Triad Controlled Climate and an electrical guy came to fix it. The time before, American Home Shield sent someone out to replace my condenser and I had to pay for the Freon. This time, they had to come out and replace the condenser again, which is the second time it had to be replaced because the two units don't talk to each other. That got aggravating, but now, I've got AC.
However, there were two problems with the AC. I was told a centipede went in there and shorted it out, so the AC guy fixed that, but it also popped over my other electrical. I was told from AHS that it would be a second deductible, because it was electrical versus AC. I said, “Wait a minute. It's the same issue. My AC went out. So what's the problem with it being just one?” Then the provider from Triad Controlled Climate got on the phone and helped me with that, but I'm having issues with getting the electrical guy to come back out.
The electrical guy said, “If there's a problem, just call me and I will get it taken care of.” I sent him an email and a text message several times. I also tried calling him for him to come back out and fix the electrical box, but I have not gotten anything back from him. All in all, having American Home Shield has been beneficial for me, and I have suggested them to others, even my pastor. I feel more secure about the house having it than I do not having it. I also put a comment on Nextdoor.com. Some people like it, some don't, and some dread American Home Shield.

My toilet was leaking and the tech from F6 Plumbing had to change out the flap in the toilet. Also, he told me that I needed to buy some aerators for my faucets since they weren't leaking too bad and he didn't fill any water in the water tank and showed me how to drain it. He said to give it about another six months. But even though he didn't see as much water leaking on the faucet, he still could have changed them out versus me going to a Home Depot and buying them and putting them on.
Plus, I'm kind of upset with American Home Shield right now because of my contract. It seemed like every time they say it's time to renew, it automatically renews on its own. They have new packages and I'm paying more than what their new packages are but then I was told that the package I have doesn't cover everything that I have in the house.
I'm paying over $100 and the new package is not even $100 but it covers everything. I had my AC checked out at one time and they looked at everything and they told me that I would have to pay out of my pocket $2,000 because all the modifications were not covered in my service plan. The AHS rep said my packet is still not on the premiums packet. I told her to put me on a premium package but she said she couldn't do that because it wasn't time for my expiration date.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved.

I did the claim online, and I called in. They got on it ASAP to get someone out, but once we talked to the company that came out, they couldn't come for another week. That was hell because it was 90 degrees inside the house. So, we asked AHS if they could pay for the hotel, but the rep said they don't do that. That's my only complaint with the home warranty program right now. In this Texas heat, we could have died in that house. So, we're looking for another home warranty company just for that reason. But once the company that American Home Shield sent out came, they were great. And they came back that same night.

We had a huge issue with AHS last year. We had A1 Plumbing come and they were horrible. There was an issue with the overflowed toilet and they tried to fix it. They kept adding on to the job and that ended up costing us $1,500. At that point, there was no backing out because they had removed the toilet. I filed five complaints with American Home Shield's managers and nobody would call me back. Nobody ever responded. But other than that, it's pretty easy to work with them. Recently, the air wasn't working. The tech took a look at it and he fixed the problem.

When we started American Home Shield, each callout was $50, not $100. Then, it went to $108 because they charge tax on the fee. Also, my monthly is $67 a month. As far as the cost for Home Shield, we are seriously thinking about changing. Also, you can't understand their reps. They don't speak very good English. But, the people who came out, 7-H services, they're perfect. They made sure that their feet were clean and they had their masks on. They were not afraid of our little dogs and they took very good care of the appliances. They fixed them all, except for the one that couldn't be repaired, the washer. The central AC unit was blowing hot air, so it was not getting cold. I called AHS and requested that I get Bissett Plumbing and AC. But the person I had spoken with told me that they could not get me that contractor because they did not exist. I told them that was not correct and that they've done all of my work through American Home Shield in the past. But the person was adamant that they did not provide any services. So, I asked to speak with her supervisor and she said the supervisor was not available. After going back and forth, she tried to call me back and tell me that the supervisor was now available and that she would connect me to the supervisor. But I ended the call with that person, then I called AHS back and I spoke with a different representative who got me connected to Bissett right away with no problem.
When the tech from Bissett came out, he was very professional as always. He discovered the problem and he corrected it right then. It took 15 minutes at max for him to find it and fix it. Since then, the AC has been running great. All in all, the staff at AHS needs to be more knowledgeable about the coverage and the providers that they are contracted with.

When my AC was running hot, I put the claim in with American Home Shield. They responded very quickly and scheduled York Mechanical to come out. Unfortunately, it was over a holiday weekend and they weren't going to be able to make it out till the Tuesday after the 4th. I have a little kid in the house and I asked if they could expedite my scheduling. They did, so a mechanic came out the very next day on a Saturday and had it up and running within the hour he was here. American Home Shield's contractors get to the job and make sure it gets done correctly. At the same time, they're respectful and kind.
American Home Shield had established an online claim process so you don't always have to speak to somebody verbally, which sometimes I like. The online process is very easy as long as you have your claim number and the right information. As soon as you click that submit button, you get a verification email and a scheduled appointment through the contractor for the services.

We've had American Home Shield policies at two different houses. We had a claim where Climate Kings came out and it was the most trouble that I've had from the most recent issue. Initially, we called saying that the air conditioner was not working. This was back at the end of June. Climate Kings just tried to band-aid fix it the first time. They topped it off with Freon, called it a day, and left. That night, it quit working again, so I called them back. They came out the next day after that. They said, “Oh, the entire air conditioning unit needs to be replaced. But it’s July Fourth weekend." I was like, ‘Hey, I get that. That's understandable.” It was bad luck on our side, but at least it's going to be replaced. I contacted them on July 5th, and they said, “Yeah, we're waiting on American Home Shield to approve it. We've submitted everything. We're good to go on that.”
I called the day before yesterday. This is now three weeks, and American Home Shield had not even submitted the claim to get the parts yet. We’re in the midst of a heatwave that is extremely dangerous. I was like, “My mom lives with us. She’s elderly. We have heat advisories going on. Why are the parts not being ordered?” No one could answer it. After I raised a claim with them threatening to email the CEOs and every vice president I could find on LinkedIn, they finally called yesterday and said, “We just wanted to let you know that we did order the parts. We're just waiting on them.”
To be fair, though, AHS is also the most expensive one. We’re in the middle of inflation and when we purchased the contract, they didn’t account for that inflation. So, they’re losing money a little bit on having to replace an entire unit, but it is what it is. We have a contract for six months before we even got to that point. I did try to do a maintenance thing through American Home Shield. They clean out your AC ducts and everything right before the summer hits. I signed up for that, and paid for it and then, they called me back and said, “Hey, we can’t find anyone that’s willing to do it, so we’re canceling it.”
The home warranty is paying for itself. Thankfully, we are in a position where we can run to Home Depot and purchase a window unit to try to keep the house somewhat cool for my mom who’s there, but someone else who didn't have that capability to where they could go out and purchase it was relying on their home warranty to keep their house up and running. I would not recommend American Home Shield based on this. Also, they are doing the service, but we are gonna come out of pocket with some money. On top of that, they’re dragging their feet on getting it set up. I've been on the phone with them at least five times trying to get these things done.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

There was a leak from the faucet in our bathtub. We went through the phone system to submit the claim and American Home Shield had somebody come out. The first company that came out said they were waiting on a part. But we weren't getting any kind of follow-up or response. We kept calling and nobody could get ahold of them. Finally, after going round and round with Home Shield, we got them to cancel the first company that came out and send out another company. The tech got it fixed that day.
The faucet is good now but the process was aggravating because the original claim that we've made with Home Shield was in January and it was three months before we got it resolved. The first company to come out was in a couple of days. After that, it was at least once or twice a week, I would have to call American Home Shield and say, "I've heard nothing from the plumber. I've heard nothing from you. What's going on here?" I know with everything going on in the world and there are supply chain issues. But we're paying extra money because our faucet was leaking.

The plumber was here on a Monday two weeks ago but he couldn't do anything because they had to send a company to remove some drywall so he could get to the thing. Then, he was here Thursday that week and he determined what the problem was and he needed to buy some part, which he said he could do the next morning. I was hoping that he could come on Friday and fix it but that was not the case because when I called, they scheduled him for tomorrow, which is a week later. So, I was not exactly happy because I thought that when one day you discover the problem, then the guy would come the next day and fix it. That didn't happen. He's supposed to show up tomorrow and I seriously hope that he will. But this has nothing to do with American Home Shield. The experience with them was great and I was absolutely happy with them. And right now, we've decided that it looks like there might be a blockage in the drain pipe causing it to back up and overflow through a crack. It’s the only thing we can think of, and that's what needs to be investigated next. The past claims were a lot quicker than this one. All the plumbers are overbooked. But American Home Shield seems to grasp what I'm saying right off the bat without me having to explain in too many different ways. The first time he came out and he ordered the part, it took about a week. The second time when he came back out, that one part didn't work so he called it in. Then they found out he had a part on his truck so that worked out. He came back out within a couple of hours, which was good for us because we didn't have to take a day off again. With AHS, there is peace of mind where we don't have to look for somebody. The only problem we have is it takes about a week to have somebody come out. American Home Shield’s website is horrible as well as their service. I have issues with filing claims of things that don't work here. They take my $75 and send somebody out here and then tell me that they don't cover that. They should be telling me that but if I have to call them and try to find something, I'm talking with India or I don't know what country. Going through the website is very general. This house has electric window shutters on it in our master bedroom and they worked for the first day after we bought the house and then, they haven't worked since. We've been here over two months. I'm sitting in my dark master bedroom because none of the electric windows work. But there's nobody that can do anything for that.
AHS is supposed to cover that but there's nobody to talk to. There's no box to check to get somebody that knows how to fix these. All they could do was send an electrician out because it was the closest thing. He came out here, looked at it and said he couldn’t do anything, and walked away. American Home Shield took my $75 and that was the end of it. So, I'm very frustrated with them.
AHS was set up by the real estate agents when we bought the house. We have a pool and pool equipment and those were not checked, apparently, when the policy was implemented or when we closed escrow. I had problems with the pool equipment and immediately, AHS told me there was no coverage for the pool equipment. I asked if I could add it on and they said no. I asked how much more it would have been and they said $150. I said that I wanna get coverage but I gotta sit with either pay for it out of pocket, which I did, or I could wait for a year to renew with them and then add on the pool equipment. So, it's been a very frustrating process with them.

Our LG clothes washer stopped working and it wouldn't turn on. We have stacked appliances, which means that the dryer is over the washer. We called American Home Shield and it took a long time from our initial call to get someone out here. They sent a company who came out and looked at the dryer then said, "These are stacked and we have to unstack them." I said that in the very first conversation. In total, there were three companies that said they would fix the issue but they never did.
American Home Shield has a lot of terrible workers that didn't know anything. They were filling out these claims inappropriately and sending out people that couldn't do the job. The company Premier was the one that finally did it correctly. It took six weeks total from the first time that we ever submitted our first claim. American Home Shield just deleted the claim out of the system and didn't even fix it so we had to call back again and again. We used about 50 hours total. We lost two days of work for it. It was my persistence that finally got the unit fixed.
The ball was completely dropped from the American Home Shield when you call and speak to those young girls that don't know anything. They're not willing to ask a supervisor or look up the research or find out what they're really supposed to do. That was where the problem was. The last rep asked and found out what she was supposed to do and did it. She did it right.
Premier came in after a couple of appointments because they had to find out if the unit was stacked and what the problem was and order the part. They unstacked the dryer, repaired the motherboard in the clothes washer and the main computer frame then put it back together. They stepped up and followed through. They finished fixing the dryer and now it works. On the whole, the experience was so frustrating because we weren't getting any results. I was just so grateful for Premier because they handled it. They are a good company and they were professional. I liked them. All the other companies were terrible.

I called American Home Shield before signing up for a home warranty and specifically asked them, "Would our air conditioner be covered?" Would they replace it if it breaks down? I was assured, yes. It's broken down twice already and we've only lived in the house for six weeks. Those times, the repairman was like, “You need a new one.” But, they never agreed to pay for it. So with that one item in particular, it feels like we were misled a little bit. But there have been other things that AHS has repaired, so that's been nice.
For our recent claim, the garage door stopped working. The contractor who fixed it did a great job. No issues since then. There's been a number of issues when AHS has sent someone out but they have corrected it to our satisfaction. We were disappointed in the one for the water heater. The company that they referred us to had a waitlist of over a week. Our decision was either to go over a week without hot water or just find a plumber who could come right away. So we canceled that claim and just found our own plumber. But other than that, they've been fast to respond.

The dryer started making noise the night before and the next day, I put in another load in and it was sensing. Then I noticed after a few minutes it hadn't started. So I looked at it and it was just dumping water, then it was draining water. Then it would go through the cycle again. I unplugged it and I Googled it because then, it was clicking. I then plugged it back in and after it kept clicking, it caught on to the cycle. But when I put another load in after that, it did it again. And the washer, which was an AT, would sense then it would cut off, stop pulling water and stop, then it would stop pulling water again and stop. Sometimes, it would spin halfway and then, it would start draining out water. The tech said it was the lid latch. It was messing with the sensing of the machine.
I've heard some horror stories about American Home Shield but I've never experienced those thus far. They're excellent. The claims process is easy although a lot of the reps couldn’t speak good English. They don’t understand you and you gotta keep repeating yourself. And you're already mad because you got a problem going on in your home. Some of them you can understand if you tune in. But some of them, you're going to have to tell them to transfer you to somebody else who speaks English. AHS needs to get some people who could speak a little bit more fluent English.
The contractors that AHS sent were cool and professional. The only thing I don’t like is they give you big windows. They would say they would be there from 9:00 to 5:00. That's eight hours. They know people got jobs so then what they would do is they would say so they would call before they come. But the last two times I had an issue, the contractor didn't call. Luckily, I was at home when they came after 4:30. In another incident, the dud was at the house and luckily, I have the camera doorbell and I asked him to give mt 15 to 20 minutes. He was nice and courteous about it. About three years ago when I used them, the contractor called when he was 45 minutes out and it was cool. They gave me time if I didn't have someone at my home waiting for them and time to haggle with my employer.

So, AHS refunded me that which I was very pleased with. When the contractor came out this time, the gentleman was more patient and was able to help me. He explained stuff and recommended some parts that came with the garage door opener that AHS wouldn't cover that would help prevent future problems. But AHS said that only the motor is covered. I had an issue with that because when I had that garage door opener installed, these parts came with it in order for it to work. So they're telling me that attachments that came with the garage door opener aren't covered, but the motor is. I'm not very happy with that all.
AHS is a little expensive compared to other warranty companies. But I'm gonna keep staying with them a while longer because they are very responsive. I just wish that in the contract, what's covered and what's not covered is in there.

I had two claims. One was for the AC upstairs, another for the one downstairs. Something was shorting in the attic. That was why the AC wasn't working. But American Home Shield didn't cover the one upstairs so I had to get a new AC myself. D&D Electrical was the second time for the electrical. That one worked out. They took care of it.

I appreciate AHS. They're always very good. When you call them, they're fast and accurate. I had a problem with the sewage pump downstairs. It was making loud banging noises. I called them and I asked if I could use the only plumber in that small area. And that's the plumber that they always used. He retired. When I had a hot water heater problem a few years ago, they sent out another one from a different area. I said, “Could I have that one back? Because this guy retired and I don't want to wait with a pump.” They were very fine and they said they would check into it. That one came and fixed it and it was good. I made a claim on the washing machine and I just got the parts now. The rep said that they were coming back on the 18th.

I had problems with the first contractor that came out for the AC, which was E&S Heating & Air. The gentleman had to have been upset about something before he even came to my house. When he came in, I opened the door and said hello, and the first thing he said to me was that the air filter was the problem. I said that it had been changed. It’s just that at the time, the vent was a little dirty but I change my air filters every month. So, I know that was not the problem. I took him to the back to show where the AC was. He started taking it apart. I told him that my husband used to work on air conditioning but he no longer does that job. He does other work now and he said it probably needs some Freon. The man then told me to let my husband fix it or get somebody else. I said that I was not going to do that. I paid American Home Shield to send somebody out to fix it and he was supposed to fix it.
The man tore down my air condition before checking to see if it was Freon and I was just looking at him because I've never seen that. Normally, what they do, they try the simplest things to fix it first before they tear your air condition down. When he told me that it was my compressor, I said that it couldn’t be that because four years ago, when it went out, we didn't have any air. It wasn't working at all. My air conditioner is working now up until he touched it. It was getting cold, but it was not getting as cold. If it was my compressor, it was because of something that he just did. So, he put it back together and then he said it was not the compressor. It was low on Freon.
I didn't say a word and I went back out. I went in and I went back out. And I told him that if I've said anything or done anything to offend him, I apologize. Because I've never in my life experienced anything like this. I'm a peacemaker and I don't like mess. He didn't say anything and at the end of the day, he hugged me and I went off. He didn't even check to see if the AC was cool. He went outside, wrote the paper up, gave it to me and left. About three hours after he left, it was hotter than it was before I called him out.
I called American Home Shield back and they told me they were sending out somebody else. They called Air Control Experts. AHS said they would expedite it but nobody ever came. They kept calling Air Control and told me to call them if I hadn't received anything from them in a couple of hours or four hours. I did that and they never called me back. Then, AHS sent A-1 Professional and they were the ones that fixed it and made sure everything was okay. They were excellent and I didn’t have any problem with them. The AC is cooling okay. I find it funny though that Air Control Experts called me back yesterday to see if my air conditioner was working. They said they have an order about my air conditioner and I told them that was put in a long time ago but they never responded. So, my air conditioner has been taken care of. But I'm gonna call AHS again because I noticed that the air is not flowing through my duct in one of my rooms.

I have American Home Shield and every year, they give you a free check on your AC unit. I called but the guy said he couldn’t make it. He had a family emergency and would be there the next day. The next day, he never showed up. I called them back and they rescheduled. They said they hired a guy but he never showed up and quit. The next Saturday, the guy showed up. He was a good guy and everything went well after they got here. The guy that originally came out was from another company and said it was low on freon and this and that, and that I had an obstruction. This guy came out, put a little bit of freon and said, “You didn’t really need anything done on this. There is nothing wrong with your system.” He said a lot of these guys that come out don't know how to read the gauges.
I've got multiple rental properties and I travel a lot, so I'm not at home. Having American Home Shield, it's easy for me to put a work order in and I don't have to run around. This is the first time I've had something shady when the guy said I had a problem and I didn't. But most of the time, everything's on the up and up and they fix everything. The problem with a lot of these companies is they try to charge you or say something's wrong and it's not. But the quality has been good with American Home Shield and they take care of stuff. Sometimes it takes a little while, but for the most part, it gets done and it gets done well.

In the middle of winter, I had a pipe that backed up. It was on a Sunday. When I called American Home Shield, they weren't able to help me because their computers were down. So, I wound up having to locate my own plumber to get him to come out, because I had no toilets and had to pay for him to come out and do it. Turned out I had roots in a pipe and I had to get the pipe replaced. I didn't use AHS for that.
I recently had a contractor come out to do just a checkup on the system. I was trying to figure out why the ac wasn't getting cold. The gentleman went through and checked it, said that there was a leak in the line and I needed a new condenser. So, he told me to go through and call AHS, tell them to put in a service ticket and what I needed. I called them as soon as he left. I got a call from Central Virginia Heating and Air that said, "We've got those. We'll get things set up for you." I got a call back that said the parts were on their way out. They set up the service date, came out, and put the stuff in. I've had good air conditioning since. The only issue that I had was I had a difficult time understanding the person that I communicated with because she's from a different country and it's an accent I'm not familiar with. Other than that, it's fine. The tech was 100% knowledgeable, professional, on time, did exactly what he would do and took as long as he said it would.

When I had a claim for the microwave and the ice maker on my refrigerator, Wright Appliance called me and they wanted to schedule a time to come out at a time that was agreeable with me. Once we agreed on a time, they called me to confirm the day before to let me know that they would be coming out. I’m also not really familiar with a lot of those things that they cover, so it's a lot easier for me to deal with them, then they contact someone that's more experienced in doing that. They would usually send the service request to a vendor then the vendor would contact me, schedule a time and come right on out. I would pay my deductible, and they would handle anything from that point. When I had to get my pool pump fixed, the process was easy. I went under where I was covered with the plan that I picked and filed a claim. The guy came out, and he was able to do a repair on my pool pump.

I've been with American Home Shield for almost three and a half years and my experience has been a little bit of a mixed bag. They definitely come through on some orders, but on others, not as much. But for the most part, I've decided to stick with them. My last claim with Magic Mike for the air conditioner was great. Days after the air conditioner was repaired, our dishwasher stopped cleaning. The board in front stopped working. So I had to call American Home Shield again, and a tech came out. Because of the age of the dishwasher, they were gonna be sending an entire replacement unit. So that's where American Home Shield really shines.
American Home Shield is expensive for what I pay per month and then per call. What I've learned is I have to be very, very clear about what the issue is. Because when I had issues in the past, if something's not working, they'll send someone out. But then the contractor will say, "Yeah, we don't do that," and it's still $125. So as long as I'm absolutely positive it's something a repair person can do and take on, then it usually goes pretty smooth.

We have a bad refrigerator. It's an LG refrigerator that was sold in 2015 and it is an absolute piece of junk. In the six years since 2015 when we got it, service people have replaced the computer, the water valve, the icemaker, and the fan. The contractors that we have had to take care of the icemaker, the computer, the fan, and the water valve have all been wonderful and they've really done a good job. They took care of things very quickly and knew exactly what to do. The issue we have now is the compressor of the refrigerator has gone out. We've been waiting for that part and American Home Shield is having difficulty getting a compressor for a company that has an LG certified technician to install it. No one else is able to install the compressor.
American Home Shield has been very helpful for us. We would have had to put on an awful lot of money to replace the parts on our refrigerator. Up until we had to have a specific LG-certified technician to take care of their compressor, we have been happy with their service in helping us get our problems taken care of. This issue with the refrigerator has stretched on since June 16th. At that time, a technician from Progressive came out the very day that they notified him. He identified the problem right away, but they said they don't have an LG- certified technician to do the installation. We would have to get ahold of American Home Shield. We've had to try and work with them for them to find an LG-certified technician.
On the whole, American Home Shield hooked us up right away with a company that has done a great job. We've seen an awful lot of that appliance company because of the bad product. That wasn’t American Home Shield’s fault. The company that they work with, Progressive Appliance Service, has really done a good job. Kudos to them because their technicians really found the problem and took care of it. But when you run into a problem like this where it's required that you have a certified technician for a particular part, we run into some problems. American Home Shield tried to assign a company to us and I called them. They said they didn't have a certified technician.
I called American Home Shield back and they gave me another company. I called them and they too did not have a certified technician for that compressor. I talked to American Hoem Shield again and the person that I got ahold of that time was very persistent in finding a person. I called that person and they are a certified technician. He came out the same day to assess the problem and start the process. But American Home Shield dropped the baton because whoever was that was supposed to order the compressor didn't follow through somehow in ordering the part.
We're a week and a half out from when it was supposed to be ordered. The technician told the warranty company that they needed the part right away. I called American Home Shield and they said it's supposed to be delivered to the technician this coming Sunday. Talking to one of the home warranty people back on the 16th of June, they listened to my sad story and said they were going to refund me 50% of my money. It would be nice to see that.

American Home Shield is a very convenient service. I just make a phone call. Last time, it seemed like I automatically was able to auto sign-up through the phone. I didn’t have to speak to an agent. But they could improve the efficiency in which they get technicians out to our home. The contractor seemed like they’re on demand, and probably many companies are like that now. So it took a while to get an appointment to get them. But they came and were able to assist me. My freezer died on me, and the technician identified that the Freon was leaking. So, they replaced the refrigerator. I like it better. I would refer American Home Shield.

I called AHS for a stopped up sink and the next day, the plumbers called me. The day after that, they were out and resolved the issue that day. I've had many previous repairs with AHS and it doesn't cost me anywhere near as much as having the companies come out and do the repairs individually. At one time I added it up over the years that I've had them and I saved close to $3,000.

The air conditioner was not working right and I put in a claim online with American Home Shield. I got a call from the service provider and a few days later, they came out and took care of it. We had another repair for a refrigerator and it was taken care of too. AHS makes it very easy to get repairs done. It's perfect in our case because this is my daughter's house. She's in Florida and I'm in Michigan and I can't go and just run and do the repairs, even if I can. So, AHS solves a lot of problems.

The air stopped blowing in our AC. The techs came out right away to look at it, but it took a while for the parts to come in. But as soon as the parts came in, they called to schedule an appointment to repair it. The tech came and fixed it that day. It's working now. AHS is good. They're consistent and they let me know right away. They called me the day that the claim was in and sent somebody out the next day.
They're reliable in getting service out here. I had a couple of mishaps though, like on the refrigerator. I'm still waiting on those to be fixed and it's been a month. Direct Appliance said they're waiting on parts. They wanted me to pay $70 to have them come out again to repair one of the fridges that they had the parts on. But unfortunately, they came out and fixed it but the refrigerator is still not working. So, I'm without two refrigerators and living out of an ice chest right now. Direct Appliance also does not return calls. I have to keep calling them. I also had a pool pump issue last summer and the vendors came out to repair it. But the vendor they had was taking so long that we didn't have a pool for the whole summer last year. Then our AC was acting up again last year. So, we had no AC and no pool. I definitely recommend AHS. There are just certain things that could be better.

Mays previously replaced our water heater and we had no problem. But this last time, at almost three weeks, they still didn't come up with a part to fix the plumbing. So, my husband called American Home Shield and they sent this other company All Pro. We called them. They came out within three days. They were two, friendly gentlemen. They did their job and said, “Have a nice day,” and left. When something goes wrong in the house, I like that I can get it fixed for a cheaper price.

Our AC unit upstairs was not working and we were on vacation. When we came in in the afternoon, I put a claim in and American Home Shield sent somebody out in less than 24 hours. First, we had to set an appointment time, and the tech was able to get to us quicker. He was here by 2 o'clock the next day, and he was great. He figured that it was something with the thermostat ‘cause he tested other things in the AC unit that's in the house. He said, “You know, if it's the thermostat, I have one in the car. So, I don't have to come back.” He then went and checked our outside unit. We have two units, and he checked both of them for us while he was here. He fixed everything that day, and so far, so good.
We've always had really good experiences with American Home Shield, except for the one time that they couldn't get somebody out in time. My only issue is the language barrier with who they contract with. It was hard having an issue and trying to explain it and them not really being able to comprehend what I was saying. It was frustrating because I was trying to get somebody out here for our water. We had to shut off the water in our house because we couldn't get a faucet to stop running, and I was letting them know I needed somebody out here. They kept saying, “Well, it's the weekend, so we might not be able to send anybody.” I said, “You know, we can't go the whole weekend with no water.”
They told me that we could find somebody ourselves and be reimbursed for it, but when the technician came, we were supposed to call AHS so that they can talk to the technician. When we called, the office was closed, so we couldn't get the prior authorization put in. So, then we had an issue trying to get the company to talk to AHS, and we were getting the runaround with that.
Finally, I got through somebody and she was able to talk to AHS. The plumbing company wouldn't talk to them directly because the service had already been rendered, and AHS wouldn't reimburse us until they talked to them. So, I had to call in three-way to get somebody to talk to them, and then we got refunded. I was connected to somebody in the United States, so it was a little easier. But even the company that they sent out wasn't very helpful with that. The lady said, “We don't talk to anybody. You should have had them talk to them when the technician was there.” I said, “Well, they were closed, so we couldn't. We tried.” She said, “Well, we don't do that. We don't talk to warranty companies.” It was a little inconvenient, but it worked out in the end.

American Home Shield had CJ Air Conditioner come out. The lady I spoke with on Monday told me she was gonna come out on Friday. I waited then she told me to call her back on Thursday just to make sure. She then said she didn't know when they were gonna come because they had people who were backed up from two months ago. But that was not what she initially told me. I told her it was 100 degrees. I had to pay for a hotel room with gas high like it is. I was not happy with American Home Shield either. I pay for a warranty and when you pay for a service, you want them to produce what you're paying for. Every month like clockwork, they take the money out of my account.
Friday comes around and they didn't come out. I had to call American Home Shield. They told me they had to put me in some type of queue to where they were going to be looking for somebody and they had three hours to get somebody. I still didn't get anybody. On Saturday, I called back. They finally got somebody and it was Reggie. Reggie got the request and someone was in my home to fix the issue within two hours. My unit is working perfectly now.
American Home Shield needs better communication and they need vendors who are gonna come out and do the work. They didn't try to accommodate a paying customer. If you have babies, you can't be in a 100-degree house. American Home Shield's service depends on whoever they have and how quickly they get there. I looked at CJ's reviews and they were horrible. They lie and say they're coming but they don't. I told the people at American Home Shield they don't need CJ. That's not a good company. A company like that will take American Home Shield down.

We are liking American Home Shield. We haven't had a problem with anything except for recently and it's not them, it was the provider that they sent out. We've had three or four different things that we've had to call on, and three out of four have been excellent. I appreciate their communication. Once a provider is assigned, I get an email. Once the provider is on the way to the property, I get an email and a text.
The last provider, Plumbline Plumbing, was horrendous. The reviews online were horrendous locally too. I had to stay on top of it, and I was about four seconds from calling American Home Shield back to tell them to send me someone different. That plumbing company atrocious. I get it that it takes a while to order something but they ordered the wrong color. The communication sucked. One day I called them every 15 minutes for three hours until they answered the phone 'cause I was so irritated. They kept asking, "This is a rental, right?" Why does it matter if it's a rental? I'm still paying them. If it's my home or a rental, it still needs to be handled. I was less than pleased. They finally handled it yesterday but it took over a month to handle a kitchen faucet that needed to be replaced.
Other than that, we've had impeccable service from American Home Shield. Every provider we've had has been quick. They've worked with my renter directly and/or updated me. The guy with Rick's Appliance Repair was great. He came out and told us what was broken. He ordered the part. Unfortunately, my renter was going out of town and I was in a meeting, so I couldn't go. Then he was on vacation, but he was very communicative. He said, "I can't come next week, but can you do the next week?" We got it replaced in less than two weeks.

We had two people come out for the AC. The first time, the tech inspected both of my units and cleaned them. He did a really good job, so we were very happy with that. A week later, the condenser of one of the units went out by happenstance. We called back AHS to get the same people but they said they couldn't do it and we had to wait a week and a half. American Home Shield then gave me another number. The second tech came out and he was really good, too. He knew exactly what the problem was and he had the part on the truck, so we didn't have to wait. All in all, we're very pleased with American Home Shield's product.

Joe, my husband, noticed on our benefits that lock changes were included with the move. So, he contacted American Home Shield and I got an email saying that the contractor would show up on this date. I needed to call to get the time set and the whole nine yards. The man from Texas Roadside Rescue came over and changed three of our locks. He finished it, gave me the keys and had me try them out. He was prompt, kind, professional and did his job. The experience was 100% amazing. We had a problem with one of the thermostats that was supposed to have been fixed before we moved in and American Home Shield contacted a great service. I'm going to hire them off-book for our regular maintenance now.

I'd recommend American Home Shield. It's been a better experience for me than a previous provider that I used. When our air conditioner was not putting out cold air, I submitted the claim through the app and it was fairly simple. It didn't have too many fields, so it was very quick and easy to fill out. On the same note, it didn't give a lot of options to give a description of what the issue was, but once you've selected the category, it's limited at that point on what you can really describe. I received an email first that someone was assigned and with the company name and their contact information, then I also received a phone call from the company the very next day to schedule the visit.
The techs were on time, very polite and gave a lot of good information. There was potentially a leak somewhere in the line, so they put something into a part on the air conditioner. The guy said it should fix the issue, and if not, then it'll be something that has to be checked later. They came in immediately afterwards and checked the vents that there was cool air coming out and I haven't had a problem since. It was awesome.

I recently did a claim to American Home Shield for an electrical issue. The socket itself was burnt out, so the individual had to replace it. One of the wires was frayed. So, he cut the wire and then pulled a little bit more out so that he could have a more secure connection to it. He was good. He was respectful, and asked what we felt comfortable and if he needed to wear those little booties or wore his mask. We gave him appropriate guidance and he went straight to work. Before he left, he asked us to test everything out, verify that it worked and that the problem was resolved.
We've had a few issues. We've owned our home for quite some time. So, we've had contractors come in and sort of get the best of us, especially in our younger years not knowing what the issue was or how to resolve the issue paying 75 bucks for a service fee when they've only fixed the issue enough that it goes past the warranty date. Then we're calling every other month to have them come fix the dishwasher and things of that nature. We become very weary in regards to that. So, we try to test and verify that maintenance was performed and that the issue is being corrected and they're not just patching it up because in the long run, it costs me money and it costs whoever our home insurance provider is.
The only thing I don't like is that I'm waiting for the maintenance individuals. The electrical guy was really nice. We put the work order in on Friday night and on Sunday, they reached out and said, "Hey, are you available Monday morning?" We said we were and he came out Monday morning. With other providers, they try to schedule a service within 24 hours. I have priorities on where I'm at. For example, our washer and dryer were called in right before, but because there was a part that was needed, they had to order the part. We were without a dryer for about a good week. Luckily, our kids weren't home so it means we weren't going through clothes and articles that need to be washed.
With other providers, if you don't get a resolution, they allow you to find a different provider. A week without a dryer was a big deal to me. I also asked about the process if we're going to replace the washer and dryer. I was wondering about the benefits or what would be the cost difference to myself and AHS on this if I ended up buying a new washer and dryer. Someone said they would get back to me and they never did.

So far, the service has been pretty good and it's beneficial not having to figure out who to hire to do work. The worst thing about it is sometimes AHS will create a call and create a second one and charge me twice. I have to call to get the credit if I need a second guy or they send a wrong person out and I end up having to correct it. Also, when I call in, sometimes I'm dealing with people overseas and they switch you to somebody in billing. So, it's sometimes a little complicated. But it's fine and the people overseas are pretty good.
About a year ago, I had my air conditioning repaired and the Freon was leaking. The guy was going to come back but they went out of business. So, the system leaked again. This year, a tech came and he wasn't the right air conditioning guy. AHS sent the correct guy out and he fixed the leak problem.

My AC unit wasn't working. I made a service request to American Home Shield and they set up an appointment. Then, the company contacted me to let me know they were coming on Tuesday in the schedule. The repair was done last week. The techs were very professional. They came in, checked inside, checked outside, told me what was wrong, what was broken, replaced the part that needed to be replaced, and asked me if I had any questions. They gave me instructions on what to do so I could be satisfied and they were perfect.
I like that the people from AHS are professional and efficient. I don't have to worry. My husband and I have a budget and it's very tight and we couldn't be able to afford the repair if the unit would have been broken. Having AHS, I pay my fee every month and when I have a repair, it's done. I'm very pleased with their service. Everybody should have AHS. I recommend it.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved.

I had a bad experience with American Home Shield. We had an issue in my apartment for a water heater that broke. I opened a case with them, and they sent the first plumber to fix it. American Home Shield didn't like the price the plumber gave them, so they had to send a second plumber. Again, they didn't like the price. They had to send a third plumber and keep sending plumber after plumber. It delayed almost a whole week to have my water heater fixed. That's not acceptable. We had no water heater until they had to be okay with the plumber who came and fixed it. Something like that should be fixed right away. This is the first time this happened and I was very frustrated with them this time. On the other times, they assigned a contractor who came and fixed the problem.

They replaced that and they connected some wiring. They had to get the parts and they had to get approval, and then it took almost over a week before the parts arrived at their facility. They called and scheduled another time. When they came to repair it, they had everything on hand and they did a good job to replace the part and everything's working so far. American Home Shield does good. I recently did a claim for the garbage disposal that was stopped up and the contractor resolved the issue. American Home Shield has improved from when we had an issue with them. I asked how many service calls can I make annually and the rep said there's no limit. That's good because it seems every other week, I'm calling them. Everything seems to be breaking down but thank God for American Home Shield. Their contractors come out and take care of business.
With this last plumbing issue, the first contractor that American Home Shield assigned to me gave me a date of July the 8th. That was about two weeks ago now and I told them I didn't wanna wait until July 8th because the garbage disposal was gonna start backing up. I called American Home Shield back and told them I needed to cancel that July 8th appointment and to give me a new vendor which they did. There was also the time when we needed something with the dryer. The first contractor gave me this far-out date. I told American Home Shield I couldn't wait all that time for someone to come out then if we needed a part, they were gonna have to order it. Right away, American Home Shield gave me a new vendor who came right out.

I am liking American Home Shield’s service. We've used it twice this year and we have had great success. The icemaker on our refrigerator went out about three months ago and last week, we had a stoppage at our kitchen sink. For the plumbing, I put in the order with AHS and they said it could take 24 hours for the contractor to call, which it did. Pro Tec Plumbing called the next day and that was fine. But whenever I called them to check if they had gotten the work order, their mailbox was full on their voicemail, which is the only negative. When the repair guys from Pro Tec Plumbing came, they were very young guys so I didn't know what to expect but they did a great job. They knew what they were doing and came in and had the problem fixed in about 10 minutes.
