I called American Home Shield to see if they could have someone fix my electrical sockets that broke. The electrician they sent said that the plastic on the socket was already broken and we couldn't screw a light bulb in it. There were two sockets like that, and the electrician said it wouldn't be covered. He also said that he could do it himself, but it would cost me. Other than that, I'd tell friends to get the coverage. If anything broke down, the house would be covered.

The toilet upstairs was leaking into the ceiling of the kitchen and the plumber said it needed a new wax seal and that one of the bolts wasn't put in right. So, he fixed that. I had another claim with American Home Shield that I had some issues with but it wasn’t them. It was the people they sent out to fix something. My second refrigerator wasn't working, so the contractor came out and replaced a compressor in it. They ordered the wrong compressor and the guy put it in anyway. It took me a couple of months to tell AHS I didn't want those guys coming out anymore. They said they had finished the job and they were supposed to come back and do something to fix it. They didn't come back at the time and date they were supposed to. So, AHS got somebody else to come out and the guy said we gotta order one. I said okay and when it came in, they fixed it. It was excellent. They did a good job.

I requested the service online with AHS to have the light in my fridge fixed, then I got a thing back stating that someone would be coming out and that it was scheduled. Then that company called me and when the tech came out, he said the coil had burned out. So, he replaced that little component out there to make the fridge light work and he was great. He'd been out before to fix my icemaker and he did what he needed to do to get things working. Other than that, AHS didn't want to fix the thing on the pool. But everything else has been pretty good.

We called American Home Shield for the air conditioner. We weren't getting the heat upstairs. The repairman who came knows his job. I'm satisfied. The problem is the house is quite large. I should buy some insulations and insulate the part out where the heat is leaving from the fan going upstairs and the basement. Also, there is another area near the front door where we have to close the shutters so that we can allow more hot air to go upstairs. Upstairs, you can feel the heat coming up. The repairman checked that. But still, it's not as warm as the living room. By the end of this month, I will contact him if the upstairs bedrooms aren't getting warm.

Everything with American Home Shield's service was good until the last one with the microwave. I called them three times and they said they have to find somebody to install it. They're just not doing it. They keep telling me they'll get back to me and they don't. They should see this last repair through, but other than that, they're good.

There was water on the floor by the commode. I thought it was coming from the bottom of the commode. When the plumber got there, he knew exactly what to check. He said it was coming from the shut-off valve so he replaced it. However, there's still water on the floor. I filed a recall claim, and they’re coming back tomorrow. I would recommend American Home Shield to minimize any potential out-of-pocket expense.

I love my home warranty. They've always done a great job and so did the last people that came out. Their contractor Coastline Electric came because there were some electrical issues when the house was built. There were fuses in the garage that were all faulty. Every few months, we'd have a different fuse that would go off, and it would cause something to burn. Recently, it was the fan and it's been a $400 problem at a time for the last year and a half. If they would just fix the circuit now for $150 instead of waiting 'til it blows up, it would be a lot cheaper. Other than that, AHS is always good once I have a problem.

I had a leak in the bathroom and the contractor, Aaron Plumbing, did what they had to do. But I forgot to add my stove on the claim and American Home Shield wouldn't allow me to do it due to their policy. The man had made the visit already but he had to come back with the part because he didn't have it in stock. I could have had a little leniency for being with AHS for a while and I needed the little panel on my stove fixed too.

Most of the time, the contractors that American Home Shield sends out are pretty good. I only had one issue, but it was a miscommunication. I had a leak in the ceiling, and the plumber came out to fix it. The drywall company came out to fix the drywall part of it, and they explained to me that they weren't able to put my drywall back up due to the way the plumber had the pipe sitting. I would have to call the plumber back to change the way the pipe is sitting so they could put the drywall. When I called American Home Shield and explained that to them, they said they'd have someone come out. They called the drywall guy, and it wasn't him who needed to come back right out, it was the plumber. It took me almost three months to get that straightened out. That was the only time I really was disappointed in them. It was a back-and-forth until I got down to the last person.

I would tell anybody that's a new homeowner to get American Home Shield. The peace of mind is well worth it. Whenever you have something come up, it's a lot better to pay the service call and the monthly bill for Home Shield than it ever would be to replace an appliance. Everything's going up. When our AC went out, we were so concerned that we would have to replace it, especially at the end of the season, where we're not even going to be using it. The compressor either wouldn't come on or would overheat and shut off. That's what we thought the problem was, but when the technician got out here, it turns out that we needed a different part for the fuse board. He fixed our AC.

The toilet was running and it started to leak. The plumber replaced what was inside the toilet bowl to stop the leaking. He was very knowledgeable and quick in his turnaround of resolving the issue. I've been satisfied with the services provided by American Home Shield. However, sometimes the turnaround on getting a call back from the vendors that American Home Shield uses can be slower than what one would like. Also, every time I call out for service, there's a $75 service charge. I pay roughly that a month. It would be nice if the rate was lower.

The tech who came out for the microwave said that I need a new one. I assumed he sent American Home Shield what the old microwave was and what the measurements were. I went shopping for a replacement and I looked at the different sizes that they had. I even went up to Lowe's trying to get an idea. I found a 1.7 cubic feet unit and I chose that one. AHS ordered it and sent it out. Then they contacted Dre to come and install it. However, when they came out, they said that the microwave didn't fit and the tech couldn't put it in. He called American Home Shield to tell them and they told me that they would take it back and they're going to charge me a restocking fee. We went over this and AHS accepted responsibility. They didn't charge me the restocking fee and all of that.
We set up a time for the company to come back and get the microwave. Then, AHS sent me another thing and we went shopping. But I didn't know what to do because everything that they have on there looks like they were too large. The size I need looks like it's an additional cost and I should not have to pay for that because that was the size of the microwave I had. They should be replacing whatever I had. I went in and I ordered the 1.6. When I measured and I'm looking at the measurements that are there, there is more than enough room. It's supposed to be delivered yesterday but it's not here yet. Once it gets here, the installers would come out.
I had a claim last year that took some time and I was not satisfied. AHS changed every part there was to be checked out before they would put in a new unit. The unit kept going out and they kept saying it was the company's fault. But the company said they were saying I need a new one and American Home Shield was saying no. I had to get both parties but I finally got the unit. Other than that, with appliances or whatever that don't cost as much, they move a little bit faster.

For a while, several lights would flicker off and on and we thought that it was due to a light bulb needing to be changed. We would change the light bulbs but they would still flicker. One day, several lights in the kitchen and the bathroom and one outlet would not work. We tried the breaker but it wouldn't work. I put in the request to American Home Shield and one electrician came out. He spent five hours looking to see what the problem was and he couldn't find it. Then, Hawk Electric Services came and their electrician found a loose wire within the bathroom outlet. He fixed it, so the lights came on and worked fine. He was professional and respectful. But within the next week or so, they went off again for at least a full hour. They came back on but they flickered off and on and it was longer each time. He came back out and said he was going to write something up to fix it.
I've put in a couple of claims with American Home Shield now and this claim seems to be pretty seamless. The one before that was for my air conditioner and I did not like that experience. I still feel like there are going to be problems next year with it and that's why I feel like we're kind of stuck. I feel like I have to renew my contract with American Home Shield because I feel like the same issues are gonna come up next year.
The first tech found some major leaks of coolant throughout the line and he recommended a complete repair of the system. They asked for a second opinion and that guy came out. He said he only found one leak. I asked if he looked everywhere else and he said he was fixing that one leak and then he would continue to do a line check to make sure there were no other leaks. He said he did and he said everything was fine. I have to take his word for it, although I don't know why the first guy would have found the other two leaks. But it was much cheaper for American Home Shield to just fix this one.
That day, I called the contractor back because there was something visibly leaking from the air conditioner pipe. He wanted me to put in another ticket and I told him he was supposed to finish his job. I didn't want to pay another $100 service fee. He came out and fixed it. There was something loose in the connection to the house. My problem overall is, when I say something's broken, I want the contractor to fix all the things wrong with it, not just the ones that they find immediately. It felt like it was patchwork.

The techs came out the same day, did what they needed, and fixed it really quick.

American Home Shield had a repairman come in one time to fix two things - my refrigerator and my stove. He fixed the refrigerator first. He told me he needed to order a part for the stove. He came back in 10 days and fixed the stove. When he was putting everything back, he broke the glass. I called the company to tell them. He didn't want to come back anymore. They sent me another person to come and see what happened. I explained to him. He gave another report saying that the glass was like that already. I don't know how he can say that if he just came for two minutes to see and ask me what happened. They told me, "Somebody's going to call you to tell you if we are going to cover it or not." Nobody called me in 10 days.
I called this morning to ask them who was going to cover my mirror. They told me the home warranty was not covering the mirror. I know that it's not covered. But the person who broke that mirror is supposed to pay. American Home Shield is responsible because they sent him. I called again this afternoon about my refrigerator. It's not working again. They told me somebody's going to come to check and fix it.

I've been having to use American Home Shield a lot. My last one, I needed my furnace looked at. Just preventive. They scheduled someone to check it out to clean it. It was wonderful. I enjoyed the young man. AHS gives me a bit of relief when something does break down. Not all of mine have been without me having to pay out any money. I always have to pay out something. They could make it so that I don't have to always pay out something, to just make it that since I have to do the service call, let that pay be my backbone, and not for me to have to dig into my pockets and pay out for them to repair something. I have not had anything that I have not had to pay for, except for my servicing for the central air and furnace, just for the tune-ups.

They said that they tried to contact me but I have my phone with me the whole time, so I don't think I missed any calls. But I was very patient with them. It took several weeks to actually get the job done. They finally came out and fixed it and it looks like everything's great. We can finally run our equipment the way we need to. When we need AHS, they're there and it beats hiring plumbers every time. It's easier for us to call, pay the fee, and have them send someone out. Usually, it's good and timely and things get done.

Parker's fixed my furnace. The tech said that whoever worked on it before didn't tighten up the drum and that was why it was making a loud noise, but there was also a piece broken in there so he replaced that. It works fine now, but it doesn't heat my house up really well. I use a wood stove too so I don't have to use the heater so much, but it was set at 70 and I don't think it ever got above 68. I'm gonna have to refile that claim and say, "Hey, it's still not working properly," but I'm gonna wait.
As far as American Home Shield, I'm having some issues with them. I took out the insurance in August but then I didn't have the money in September when they went to bill me. When they called, I said, "Hey, I can't do this right now because I don't have the money to pay your bill.'' The rep had told me when I first took it out that it was a $75 copay. When I tried to file the first claim, they wanted a $125 copay. I was like, "No, no, no, that's not what you told me."
I called them and that was on October 28th. I said, "We need to redo this thing and I want a $75 copay and I want the insurance to cover the electronics, like on my TVs and computers. I want it to cover the ductwork on my furnace and air conditioning system." The lady I talked to was supposed to have rewritten the whole thing and started it over on October 28th. I've talked to 10 different people about this that's supposed to fix it and nobody's fixed it.

My freezer was working but my refrigerator wasn’t and American Home Shield sent out Norrods, which I hope they're not using anymore. They made a mess with everything and was hard to get ahold of. AHS couldn't even get a hold of them, which was why it took from July till now to get the refrigerator fixed because until AHS heard from them, it couldn't go any further.
Norrods finally came out again a couple of times and said it was fixed. But the last time they came out, I thought the regular Norrod guy was coming, but he sent his brother who he had with him one time and it looked like he was teaching him what to do. His brother put Freon in it and that blew up to where our freezer didn't work anymore and it constantly leaked water. AHS finally sent somebody else, which is South Valley and they were very professional. I liked them a lot. The last time they came out, the refrigerator was fixed. We're very happy with them. Sometimes, the vendors that AHS chooses are nowhere close to where I live so the vendors put me off. They would pick somebody who's in Mesa who could care less when they get to me. At least give me a choice of vendors so I can tell you what I know is a local who's credible or not. They always tell you they're sorry but they can't do anything about it. It's no fun. We sat in that house for two weeks without a working refrigerator. I had to go out and buy a small one for my husband's medication. Also, they've fixed that refrigerator three or four times. It needs to be replaced but they won't replace it.
I asked them to send someone out for the air conditioning units because one wasn't working properly and the other one we were iffy about. The guy was three hours late and no one could get ahold of him. They couldn't reassign me to somebody else because they said they had assigned it to him. Then, he finally showed up and he told me he could only do one unit. I'm gonna have to pay another $100 to get the other unit done. I've been frustrated.
Their customer service agents are really nice but it's obvious they're not in the United States. There's no sense of, "We want to help you, ma'am." The attitude is different. Other than those, they sent out somebody for the kitchen sink who did a great job and we appreciated it. Also, when I asked them to come out for the toilet, I told them all three toilets and they came out and they did all three.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you about your ongoing concerns.

I reported an issue on a Friday, and American Home Shield had someone come out Monday, which is fine. The guy found out that the system is getting old and that the filter that I had in there was too powerful of a filter for the machine itself. The original problem was it wasn't producing heat. The guy told me to take that filter out, let it run for a few days, and to call back if there was a problem, but there wasn't one. He was excellent. There have been a few techs that had come out and I have no complaints about any of them as well.
I've had American Home Shield about five years now, and the benefit is I'm worry-free. I've used them a number of times now, and everything is a breeze. The only complaint I have is that the monthly fee is very expensive, then on top of that, I have to pay $100. Last year, they came out to work on the stove, and the only thing they did was replace a handle. 100 bucks is not worth it for that. For example though, if they have to replace one of my air conditioners, the $100 is nothing.

The water on my refrigerator wouldn't work, and I had leak as well. The techs came the next couple of days and they were very good. They got me up and running. It’s a good thing to have American Home Shield, and we use them quite a bit. When you first call though, you gotta talk to a machine. Then when I talked to a person, I had a hard time understanding what she was talking about. The accent sounds from a foreign country.

The water heater died and Taz Plumbing, the contractor, came out once to check on the problem. It was two days after I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. Then, the repair guys saw that it was not going to be able to be fixed, so they had to place an order for a new one. And it was a week after that that they were able to get it. It was great. I’ve used AHS less than maybe five times and I've never had a problem.

American Home Shield is very convenient. Thus far, they have addressed the things that I needed to be repaired. When my garbage disposal went out, techs came out and replaced it. But they closed the ticket out prior to checking to make sure that there wasn't any clogging or any issues with drainage. And so, I had to call back for additional service.
Initially, they were going to charge me another service fee, but I requested that they not do that because it was tied to the same service. Even though the ticket had been closed, the tech was still at my house. The tech actually tried to call and get things done, but American Home Shield said that it would require another call from me. I called and asked if they would approve him unclogging the drain as a result of the garbage disposal going out. Eventually, they waived my deductible fee and everything worked out. So far, so good. American Home Shield's vendors have been great and usually, they're timely.

I've not been satisfied with American Home Shield. The sent a company out that originally was supposed to evaluate the systems and I requested for two systems to be evaluated. A young man came, checked the first one and said that he needed to leave and wanted me to sign the document. I asked if he could check the other one. He said, "No, I'm not going to check that one. I have enough information here." I told him I was not gonna sign. He started yelling and got very upset. He threatened me, walked out of the door and banged my door.
Then I got information from American Home Shield that they were going to have them now be the ones to repair the issue with the AC. I said no because I don't trust the work that they did and I would rather not have them come back to my house. They insisted that that's the only company that will do it. The other options were to get a second opinion, and if the second opinion is the same as the other one, I would have to do a cashout. I said, "I'm not going to take any cash. I just want to get somebody to come and evaluate the issue."
Eventually, American Home Shield called me and said the other company said the same thing the other group said. I told them that was impossible because before each of them left, I spoke with them. I asked them what they found. The first one that was very rude and left specifically told me something that required some remodeling and reconstruction then replacement of whatever the main part is, which was different from what the second company said.
American Home Shield said that they were gonna have to send the first company back. I told them I didn't feel feel comfortable and safe that somebody who yelled at me and banged the door would be asked to come back to my house. I went through the escalation process but American Home Shield kept insisting. I said, "No, I'm not going to take that." They said the only other option is a cashout. My job is not to start looking for an AC company. That's why I bought the policy. If one company is not working out, they have another company. I don't see what the issue is that would prevent American Home Shield from saying if I didn't like the job that was done by this first company, then a second company had come to do the evaluation. I asked for them to have somebody call me. The last person I spoke with said, "No, I'm the last person that you will hear from." Nobody has called since then.

The technicians were nice, knowledgeable, great guys. I have not seen as good technicians as what AHS send out. This is my first experience with a warranty company. I was a little worried that they wouldn't send good technicians. But I had a great experience. I was very happy with it. It makes owning a home way easier. We had a claim to American Home Shield for our refrigerator. The tech from Alpha Appliances was great. We had two visits by them, one where he came out and diagnosed what the issue was, and then the second time when he came out and repaired it because they had to order a part. In both instances, he was very professional and very polite. The only thing is sometimes the scheduling team is a little lax in terms of letting us know when they were coming. He came one time to the door and said, "I'm here to fix your thing." I was like, "We're leaving right now. We have a doctor's appointment. We didn't know you were coming. You should have called us the night before or something."
We're usually pretty flexible but others may be a lot more constrained in terms of they have to take off work. We're retired, so we could reschedule it very easily to a couple of days later and it was fixed. Another thing is this appliance has been repaired at least five times for generally the same problem, which is our ice maker. So, there were some questions about whether our file was supposed to be annotated that, if it broke again, this was going to be a continuing recurring problem and they should consider replacing the appliance.
Given the experience with some of the other service technicians that have been out, AHS definitely has a quality service and theirs are definitely pretty responsive. One of the times, our refrigerator was malfunctioning again. We had all this food in our refrigerator that was going to spoil and the technician with the first company wasn't going to be able to come out for two weeks. We felt like our freezer doesn't work and it's like you're gonna tell us we're gonna lose all of our food. So, we called Home Shield back and they gave us an alternative technician who came out the next day. So, it was pretty quick from that standpoint.

My biggest complaint is I have a constant issue with my air conditioning system. I'm constantly paying fees for repairs on it when their commercial says that they just replace them. But that's not the case. As long as they can continue to recycle parts, even if you have a person come out every three or four months for the same missions, they just keep doing it. Every time, I got to pay the 100 and $25 or $30 fee to have someone come out. It's the same problem every time but they slap a new part on and keep on going. So when I add all that up, especially if it's the same repair every few months, in addition to my monthly fee that I pay just to have it serviced, I'm long past the thought of if American Home Shield is worth it or not.

Any issue that we've had, I was able to call American Home Shield. And even if it wasn't covered, they still sent somebody, which was helpful to me, because sometimes some stuff start to go after five years. I always do it online. And if I don't know the right wording, I always just put "other" now. So, AHS will call me and say, “What's wrong? What do you need?” I'll tell the person. And he can finish putting the ticket in, and they know who to refer it to. So, it has always been excellent service. The fact that I don't have to worry about, “Oh, shoot, who am I gonna call?” I already know AHS has got me covered.
I had something with the plumbing two years ago. And the guy said, “If you would've had so and so, they would have covered the entire job.” I said, “You know what? I'm the type of person that I’m not gonna just go by anybody's word.” I kept AHS. I notified this other company. I signed up with them and said, “Let me see. If anything happens, that's when I'll decide to drop whichever one.” A month after I got it, sure enough, something happened. Our garage door wouldn’t open. So, I called the other company. “Oh, no. That's not covered.” I said, “Okay. Can’t you at least recommend somebody, send them out? And if it's not covered, I know I gotta pay for it, right?” “No, we can't do that.” I hung up with them.
I called American Home Shield. I was told, “I'm not sure if that's covered. We gotta wait till the guy comes out. He'll let us know what it is. And he'll tell you if it's covered or not ‘cause we'll let him know.” I said, “But you're still gonna send somebody?” “Absolutely.” They assigned it to a specific vendor. The vendor came out and looked at it. They covered something basic, but they wouldn't cover anything else. But I didn't care because they sent somebody out. That was something that I didn't have to go and research. I don't know if I'm getting the right person, or if they will rip me off. We’re older. I have my daughter and two granddaughters living with me. AHS was there for me. As soon as they had recommended somebody and I got off the phone, I called the other place and said, “Cancel it now. Reimburse me. I don't wanna go with you.”
Our toilet was leaking. J&K came in one day. Dustin had to come back because he didn't have what was needed. And he already told me that what we needed to have done wouldn't be covered. So, he told me to make sure I called the office and to wait two days so they could turn the stuff in to the insurance. I did. And they came today and fixed it. We keep getting Dustin because I always request him now. He's very professional.

Dealing with American Home Shield's website has been a little difficult. We continue to not be able to log in, so when we have service requests, we have to call them, which is fine. It's not an issue, and they've always been responsive whenever we reached out via phone. The website would be more convenient, but they can't seem to figure out why we can't log in to their website.
With a home warranty, we can get some things fixed for a little less than what they would be and the cost of American Home Shield is factored into that as well. A year ago, we had to get our oven in our kitchen replaced. Looking into it, we saved a bit of money being a part of American Home Shield. Also, working with the technicians has been good. When the tech came out to do the AC tune-up, he said that the compressor wasn't working right. So, they ordered a part for it. But I would call American Home Shield because they said I have to pay 300 and some dollars, and I don't understand that. I haven't looked at the fan, but I thought the AC compressor was under the plan. Now, I gotta pay 300 and something dollars, on top of paying $75 for a service fee. They called me again, told me the part wouldn't be here until the end of November, which will work out good for me, because I don't have 350 something dollars.
A month ago, I called for AHS to send a plumber because my sink was leaking. I just paid them 250 some dollars to fix that, after paying the $75 service fee. But just like they said with the AC, it's normal wear and tear. I'm paying all this money to AHS. If I gotta start paying for stuff out of my pocket, I don't need it. I didn't have this problem before. But lately, I have to pay for everything I'm getting done. I filed a claim to American Home Shield on my dryer. I had two technicians. The first one who came said, “Oh, yeah, this is easy. I'll order the part,” and he left and the company called back and said, “You have to move the washer.” My husband is 81. I am 77 and a small woman. The washer is gigantic, and so is the dryer. There's no way in God's green earth that either one of us was going to be able to move that washer out of the way. When the guy from the gas company came and checked the dryer, he had no trouble getting behind it, and doing what he needed to do to make sure that what we were calling about was real. So, I was not happy. Then they did not file a report with American Home Shield that they weren't going to continue the service. It was almost six weeks before I finally called American Home Shield.
We were very busy with my husband’s surgery and recovery. I said, “I need somebody to come fix this dryer because I had to go to the laundromat.” They said, “Well, I thought they were fixed.“ So, I explained the whole thing. I finally called and they sent another company who came, and the person was incredible. He went through the whole thing, explained everything to me, and showed it to me, which the first one did not.

So, we didn't feel too comfortable with that. We reached back out to AHS, they put us in contact with another company that, indeed, did an awesome job. Overall, we were satisfied but the procedure is somewhat messy. The way it works is you call in, and then they get back to you within 48 hours. Once they get back to you in 48 hours, at that point, they set an appointment. There goes another 48 hours. So, it turns into five to seven days before they come out. Once they come out, they have to send their report back to the warranty company to get approval. It is almost like you're better off just biting the bullet and paying for the service and getting it over with.

American Home Shield is convenient. Most of the time, I can get someone to come out to the house within a few days. JB Plumbing came out recently for my garbage disposal. The plumber came out the next day. He got out there quickly mostly because I called him. Typically, I hear from the service providers within a day. I hadn't heard from him, so I called him. He had me describe what was happening with my garbage disposal and take some pictures. From that information, he deduced what was going on and did what was needed. He got it fixed that afternoon.
My biggest complaint with American Home Shield is when I file an issue, there's a limited selection of things for what the problem is. There's an ‘Other” button, but there's no way to put in any other information besides “Other”. Even when I can find a selection that is most representative, it's still not enough information for the service providers. That means, more often than not, they come out once to do an assessment then have to come out again. With JB Plumbing, they did a fantastic job. But the reason why it only ended up being one visit was because they asked me the right questions over the phone when I called to get the information they needed without having to come out first and do the assessment then have a second trip. That doesn't always happen.

This happened during the COVID time, so I don't know if the contractor shut down temporarily. When they didn’t call me within 24 hours, I called them. The phone was disconnected. No service. So, I called back AHS and let them know, “Hey, something's not right.” So, they rescheduled me with a different contractor. And everything worked out fine. AHS should contact the contractor first before they schedule. AHS should contact them to make sure that contractor is still available instead of checking their sheets. But since that was resolved quickly, I have no issue with AHS. As soon as I call them, let them know, or get online, they have a contractor available within 30 minutes.

I had a claim for a plumbing issue, and the tech had to come out three times before it was corrected. Recently, my furnace was blowing cold air. The contractor wanted to come out quicker than I was able to have them come out. They wanted to come out in two days but I wasn't able to. So when I was able to schedule for the next day, they were able to come without a part.
The tech was punctual. He called and let me know. It's interesting to get to me, so I always tell people to call me when they get there. Usually, the people would say, "Oh, I'm good." But when they get there, they couldn't find me. But he called. He was nice. He didn't mind me asking questions, and gave me information. Sometimes people get offended because you ask a lot of questions, but he wasn't. And he fixed it.
Especially if I have something serious going on, I want a fast response. If I call somebody on my own, if something is seriously wrong, which I've had a couple of things, I want somebody out. But American Home Shield doesn't have an emergency type of thing. I understand that some people might say, "Well, everything to some people is an emergency." If it's below 0 and you have no heat, that's a problem. 48 hours is not gonna work. Also, when I was calling about my furnace, I checked and the policy went up. I was supposed to call sales to talk to them about that, because that was a big jump. That didn't bother me. But I'm still gonna call about it and see, which makes me step back and pause.

I have a sewage backage problem. So, I spoke to two of American Home Shield's representatives. Two of them told me that my home warranty doesn't cover my sewage. But the representatives told me, "If you pay a $100 service fee, then you will be covered." I said, "Okay, cool. I'll pay the $100." Paid $100 and the plumbing agency sent out a guy, took pictures and that was all. My problem is very serious because I had sewage coming out of my house. I had to replace my whole flooring. We're living upstairs and I have a baby. And I kept on asking them, "What's my timeline? When is my situation gonna get fixed?" And both AHS and the contracting company they hired for me told me, "We'll give you a call back in like 30 minutes," or, "We'll give you a call back within such and such timeline." Never got a call back. I had to constantly keep on calling. And since nothing happened, I ended up having to come out of pocket to fix my situation.
When I contacted AHS, I said I wanted my refund back because nothing happened. They told me I couldn't. I was speaking to a supervisor. Because it took so long for a supervisor to contact me. The supervisor contacted me and we went back and forth. He kept on telling me, "We'll have to go back and listen the voice logs and everything and we'll contact you in 48 hours." It has been six days and I haven't heard anything from them.
At this point, I don't care about the $100 anymore because it's just $100. But no one did nothing for me in my situation. I had to end up coming out of pocket to fix my situation. And the company they hired to fix me, their supervisor called me to figure out what was going on, and I told them my situation was worse, that I had to come out of pocket. Because they told me they were waiting on a sewer camera, and they would come fix my situation. And he ended up telling me that they wouldn't have even been able to fix my situation because they don't do that. And he told me that when AHS sent my work order to them, that they didn't label it as critical or emergency, they labeled it as normal. I don't know what in the world was that normal.
I told them multiple times I have sewage coming out of my toilet. My half bathroom downstairs got overfilled with sewage and it went all over the flooring. And it was so much, that it ended up going into my living room. Majority of my downstairs flooring is ripped up. So, I'm working through my home insurance and they're covering that. But my home warranty couldn't cover this situation. I get it was $100. I want my $100 back. But at this point, it is what it is. I just let it go. It was just annoying to deal with. Other than that, my wife and her family were saying AHS was a really good one.

My garage door opener wouldn't open nor close the door. I did the claim with American Home Shield over the phone and it was a lot of communication. I originally did it online but they didn't have anyone in my area. I had to talk to them on the phone and then, we found someone else. The company they sent out was very good and knowledgeable. They reprogrammed everything. I'm having an issue right now though. We had them reprogram one of the remotes and we forgot about the other remote. It’s in my car, which is in the shop right now. But that's not their fault. That's just an odd thing that happened and everything is good. For someone who has enough extra money lying around, AHS is a good thing. I don't have to worry about something breaking down. This was minor. It was just a garage door opener and I can always park outside. But if it was a major appliance, I’d like to know that I can get it fixed right away.

The service of AHS is fine. However, I’ve been with AHS for more than 14 years now, and all of the amounts are curtailing up and up. Now, I saw online that they're offering the same services that I am paying for, for the half price that I'm paying. I’m not satisfied with their plans right now.

Some service calls are held great and taken care of quickly. But with some, not so much. So it's really been hit or miss with customer service end for American Home Shield. Some of it is on the vendors or contractors that they send out to do the stuff. But on their end, their customer service lacks service. Sometimes, it's hard to understand the reps in their call center. You have to explain it four or five times. Sometimes they're not responsive.

I've had two contractors, the plumbers and the HVAC guy, come and do their work, and they've been polite and nice. The HVAC guy from Airstar was awesome. My air conditioner, the upstairs thermostat was not working, and I incidentally had someone that came and looked at it. He told me, “Oh, it's an electrical,” then I remembered that I had this home warranty, so I called American Home Shield. They sent out Airstar, and their guy figured out the problem and had me up and running within 40 minutes. It was a much smaller problem than initially thought, so it saved me a lot of money.
The plumbing service guy was good as well, but he said, “Oh, I fixed it.” He then went to his truck, but I had to call him back because he didn't fix the problem. I'm also supposed to have the heating guys come to check my heating yesterday because it's getting cold, but something happened and they rescheduled. So far though, I am very impressed, and I have been meaning to call American Home Shield to engage their services for my other home in Upstate New York. I couldn't use my pool pump and my pool turned green. It stained my pool and I had to pay out of pocket for someone to drain the pool and acid wash it. American Home Shield would do nothing about it. They do not contract with a lot of companies up in the Barstow area. They were trying to send pool companies down from Fontana and no one was coming up. They finally sent somebody out after I threw a fit about it. Fisher Pool came out and got the pool pump. They came back and installed it that next day. But AHS should either reimburse me or go halfers in getting the pool acid washed because I paid for my regular service for them. They sucked at dealing with their customers and they don't care as long as they get what they have to get done.

I had an issue with my dishwasher and something had to be replaced. I paid the one-time charge and it was $122. The technicians were good. Overall, I liked the service. American Home Shield responded. Right from the beginning, the person who got the service request responded right away after I raised the ticket. Full credits to the person who attended to it.
But there was one time they did not respond. During the summer, it was pretty hot here. We had some issues with the AC not turning on. Apparently, many had issues around this area. It was like going 160 degrees so the capacitors were going bad. That had to be replaced. American Home Shield sent the service request to somebody. I kept calling for three days and nobody picked up. I could not wait and I called somebody from outside to fix the issue and I had to pay the full amount. American Home Shield should say that there's a high volume and that was taking time as that would definitely help. Otherwise, there is no point in waiting for someone. I even thought about canceling my service. On the whole, American Home Shield works when it works.

They have to be replaced, it can't be repaired or whatever. And we don’t keep anything like that ones on our vans or whatever.” Then they came back out and fixed everything. They were awesome. They cleaned up after themselves. They did everything timely. We've had nothing but excellent results. Everything we did with American Home Shield has been awesome so far. When you have issues going on in your home and you have American Home Shield, you could get somebody easily to repair them with minimal cost. You're paying monthly so that you can get rid of that exorbitant cost at one time. I was having issues with the washer recently. I called, and the next day, a contractor was out and they repaired it. The only thing is when there's an issue with an appliance, for instance our air conditioning system, American Home Shield should not just try to piecemeal it. They should fix it. We had an issue where it was a continuous issue every year. They just kept on putting Band-Aids on it. After they come out more than two times on one item, they could look into replacing it.

The company called me that day, advising that I would be notified 30 minutes prior to the arrival, which I did I get a text 30 minutes to the minute that the tech arrived. When I showed him wherever it was, he said, “I'll take care of it. My washing machine died and American Home Shield gave me a certain amount of dollars to replace it. I'm just waiting for them to now send me the reimbursement check. The technician that came out has been coming to my house since I started with American Home Shield. The guy is a really nice guy. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind. They're quick and fast with certain things. But with other things, it boggles the mind.
We had a ceiling fan that needed to be replaced because it died out. But it wound up taking the contractor a week to come out, and then another two weeks to come back with the fan because they have to come check it first. That was ridiculous. They should have just had the fan onboard or go around the corner to Home Depot or Lowe's because they're gonna get it from there anyway, and then put it in.
We also had a problem with my garage door. The springs went bad and when I told the lady about it, she did not tell me that it was not covered. The guys came out from Orlando, which is three hours away, when there's a thousand companies close by. The tech said, “Well, you need the springs. It's going to be $500.” I said, “What? I already paid 100.” He said, “Yeah. That's for us to come out. If you want it fixed, it's not covered. It's gonna cost you 500 bucks.” It was about $400. I told them, “Well, you got me overbow, so go ahead and do it.” So there are certain things about American Home Shield that I really, really like, and other things that don't make a bit of sense.

The refrigerator in my garage stopped blowing cold air, so I called American Home Shield. The contractor came out and they fixed it. The tech was really nice and he did the job fast. The only problem was getting scheduled. I had to wait about two weeks. With my air conditioning claim, I had an issue once when I called about it. The people couldn't get there until two days later. But the technicians were nice and thorough. They did their job. All of the technicians were courteous and each one called before they were on their way. So that's very nice.
The first year that I had American Home Shield, I used it once and it cost me $75 for the service. So it didn't pay for itself during the first year. But for this year, it's going to. The only problem is that my mom is a little bit older so I check her email for her a lot, and one thing I kept seeing was that American Home Shield was sending her emails saying, “Come back, and we'll discount it $100 or $150.” So I called them and they said, “Well, we can discount it a little bit.” They gave me a discount. But they said, “But you had service. So, those costs are gonna be rolled into it.” Maybe I misunderstood, but they said that they couldn't adjust it lower than the price of the fix from last year.
The one thing I had them do last year was they used the CO2 cartridge to clear out my AC line because it was clogged. That CO2 cartridge is 50 bucks and then the tech took 15 minutes to do the work. But American Home Shield is saying that was $150 worth of supplies and work. So I told them, “Well, I don't understand that. What do you mean?” They said, “Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I'm confused. We'll take 150 off.” So when I renew, I'm gonna make sure that they're not raising it next year to cover the service that I got this year.

We have a four-door refrigerator, and it was having problems. It was one of those convertible freezers where the bottom of it, you can change it to whether it's a refrigerator or a freezer. One side wasn't getting as cold as the other. Plus we were having problems with our icemaker. Originally, American Home Shield sent out Accord Appliance for the claim and some crazy guy came out. I wasn't too pleased with him, but he got the job done. He talked a lot and did some work, but he didn't test anything. Half the fridge wasn't even working when he left, and we didn't notice until it started making all kinds of noises. At that point, it was 32 days after the repair. So I called in and said, "Look, I'm not paying the copay again. You guys are sending somebody else out to fix this."
American Home Shield sent Zen Appliance out to fix the screw up from the previous company, and their work ethic was great. It's what I would expect. I'm in the service business too. Zen Appliance did an awesome job. They had to get some parts, so they ordered them, then they scheduled something, came back and took care of it. Now, it's working great.
American Home Shield's claims submission process is good, but they should be a little more upfront about the fact that when someone gets something repaired, like a water heater, there are always extra charges. One can see it coming. The repair people come out, and the water heater is covered, but the codes have changed and the consumer needs the new straps or the new connector. It's like going to the auto mechanic. There are definitely upsells involved. Consumers assume that if their air goes out, American Home Shield is gonna fix it, and it's not going to cost them. That's why they pay for insurance. I get that there's a deductible, but there shouldn't be an upcharge on top of it.
I've essentially sold American Home Shield to everybody over the years 'cause I have it. I always tell people, "You're crazy if you don't have a home warranty." One complaint I have is my neighbors have had stuff done and I noticed that when their heater went out, the heater people came in and said, "Oh, they don't make this one anymore. So it's gonna cost you an extra $1,500." That's a little sketchy, and that goes along with the upsells as well. Still, I have peace of mind with American Home Shield. They're hard to deal with, but people have to know how to deal with them, because like any insurance company, they don't want to pay for anything.

When I file for a service request, it's quick and I get either an email or a text message, letting me know that they've received my request for service and that a tech would be contacting me from whatever angle we were looking for. They then do a follow-up and let me know, "Hey, the tech is on the way." There's no guessing, and it's nice. I had an annual checkup done on my heater. I let him talk to my husband and he told him what he thought it could be. Then, the tech went outside and when he came back inside, he said that he was going to put a code in and he would be back. Also, AHS could have better tracking when parts have to get ordered. As far as communication between the American Home Shield and the contracted company, the contracted company might be the subject matter experts. But for these last repairs, I only got one order confirmation email about one of the parts, and then the three other parts just showed up randomly.
Also, customers who have parts ordered could get priority over customers that need to be triaged first. Even though I respect the company that came here, I was number six on the list. Mine was pending fix for four weeks. The first time the contractors came in, I was hoping to get things done first since I had parts, and I thought I would be considered a priority. Right before I submitted the claim to American Home Shield on the washer, where the washer drains out had water come out very selectively when there was also water running in the sink. So, somebody came out, they ran the snake through it, and there hasn't been a problem since. As far as American Home Shield's site, it's not bad. The layout of the mobile app is kind of clunky like you have to do a lot of scrolling. It might be better if you had a few drop-down boxes. Other than that, it worked out well. I like that it retained most of my data, as far as once I log in, it's got my address. It's a really simple process going through American Home Shield. I like it.
Before a service person comes, I get a text message or a message saying who they are, their phone number, and their address, which is super helpful. I was able to use it to reach out later to them to follow up on the parts that they said I needed. So far, everybody I've had come out to the house has been great. But about a couple of weeks later, it went down again. Upon further review, it was the motherboard was out on it. The technician that came out was awesome, really good to work with and professional. Apparently, they no longer make the motherboard. So part of the warranty service then is that they have to replace the dishwasher. From that moment on, it's been extremely painful trying to get an equivalent model in place.
Every time we would go on with the models that American Home Shield recommended or gave us as options, we’d go to purchase one of them and enter in all the information. Then as it was processing it, they would come up that the unit was no longer available to the point where the only options available are to either take a lesser model than what we started with or we'd have to kick in $1,000 for the same models that we already had in.

The last people who came to us for the refrigerator was Asset Appliance and they took care of it. Everything went well and it is working, which is very satisfactory. But with the problem I had with the oven, Asset was not able to fix it. Two different service providers ended up coming and the last one was just to verify that the old oven simply didn't work. It took about six months till American Home Shield finally agreed that the oven was not fixable. But everything else has been fine.

If you have a new house and you think that you may have some issues, American Home Shield is a good tool. But it could be better on the front of having people that you can either understand or that can actually help when you do have some type of problems. Recently, the AC kept tripping out my breaker and shutting off the AC. I finally reset it, but it wouldn't start back up. I put in a work request on the app. It's fine. But I don't like the way they auto generate who it assigns to me. I should have a choice. The service providers that I got such as Delta T were great. The guy has been amazing. But the other company never contacted me back. They contacted me back after I had already called AHS multiple times. I put in a work request on a Thursday, and I didn't hear anything back until Tuesday from that contractor, after I had already got service from Delta T.
The one guy that I got in contact helped. And he ended up giving me my service fee that I paid back for my troubles. So, he ended up being a nice person. But it's difficult to come in contact with somebody that actually can help and not just saying general statements and trying to push you forward. They said, "Give it 24. It could be 24, 48 hours before you hear something." I put in the service request on Thursday, so I gave it 24 hours. I hadn't heard anything from the service provider. 24 hours passed. I called and they said, "Just give it another day." We had no AC. I couldn't wait another day. It's not affecting me directly because I'm at work and I have AC at work. But they're at home. I couldn't just keep saying, "Oh, give it another day, give it another day," when it's something dealing with the AC. And I live in Louisiana. When I give my payment, it's like, "Can you give it another day?" So, it was frustrating.
My name is Stacy & I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

Our hot water heater was leaking. We called AHS late on a Wednesday and they got somebody out on Friday. The techs looked at it and said that it was over 20 years old and that it needed to be replaced. They ordered the replacement, and they got it there six days later, and they got it installed. I hate that it took so long to get the replacement parts, but I totally understand that it took that long. It was an unfortunate situation that my family was without water for that time due to the nature of the problem. They had to shut the water off. Other than that, they did a great job and we were satisfied.

When the tech came, he cleaned the spark arrestor on the furnace, and everything else was in good working order. I've had American Home Shield before on a previous home, and everything has worked out the way that the contract reads.

My toilet was apparently leaking and it turned out that there was something broken. One side was cracked so it was just replaced, and then the repair guy put it all back and resealed it. It's super good. I love the guy who came out. He came to service my water heater and I requested him again because he knows his craft and he's prepped. He was wonderful, super prompt and gave me a lot of good information. If my dog likes him, he's welcome at my house.
In the area where I live, we have a lot of minerals in our water and I have a well so it's a lot of calcium buildup. So part of the problem with my water heater was the build up at the bottom. It was horrendous. The guy had to vacuum it out and he probably took out this vacuum 20 times from my house. He left everything spotless. He's very good at what he does so I was pleasantly surprised with how he handled my water heater. It was a truly messy job. Even with how he sealed the bathrooms, he knew how. So that was huge, because not everybody takes those attention to detail all the time.
I've had two of AHS' vendors out and both were great. I also asked for a winterize service from them and the same guy that winterized my house also helped me fix my air conditioning. The vendors were able to explain to me some of the things, like how they work with AHS, and it has helped me so much. So, I'm extremely happy with it. It’s the best idea this year for my mom and I to get that thing for our house. It takes out the guessing game of who to go to if something is broken.

I pay the deductible, then they take care of the problem for me. About a month ago, I had a dryer that went out, and the person they recommended was excellent. He worked me into his schedule, came right out the very next day and was able to fix the dryer really quick. I was very happy with the company they recommended. I have that same company coming out today because my refrigerator went out, and they got right on it, too. I'm still having trouble. I'm not happy. American Home Shield is quick to take my money. They're responsive with the servicing, getting people out here, but the vendors they choose are horrible. Here's the first problem. I got it back in September before I closed. I said, “I'm retired military, a disabled veteran.” So, AHS quoted me the $53 a month charge. But they're charging me $57. I said they quoted me the military discount. And they're taking my money out every month. I need to put it into a request for back office. And I'm blown off for near three months. This is so upsetting.
When I talk to guys from the Philippines that AHS outsource, not is it just a language barrier, but there's no sense of ownership with those guys. And they make it so difficult on the US-based customers. I'm all for a person making the best. Wherever they come from, I don't care. But if you're gonna provide service, give me the best service and what I'm paying for. And don't make it hard on me.
So, when I get somebody from the US, they're quick to address my responses. I can't remember the lady's name, but she was quick, very responsive and professional. And that's what we're looking for when we bought this service. I'm paying a lot of money for this as well as my home. And that's what I expect, to be able to communicate effectively, not give me the runaround. However, I'm still paying the $57 a month after multiple weekly requests. I must call twice a week. And when I talked to the agent, she said, “You're not the first person that's made this complaint.” So, if I'm not the first person, and AHS is outsourcing to the Philippines, why is this still an issue, with not just me, but your agents are telling me that? Why is this still going on? I don't understand that.
Since I moved into the home, they had the address wrong. So, I missed a couple of services because they went to the wrong address. Last two weeks, I was calling every day. “When are you gonna fix it?” There was a guy from the Philippines named Godfrey. He’s very abrasive and non-responsive. I said, “This needs to be addressed right now. I have electricians coming out, and they're calling, saying that it's a bad address and they have to reschedule. And I needed my electrical addressed. That's an issue.” I wanna be able to call a US-based hotline that somebody speaks the King's English that knows what they're doing.
If this is not fixed with my address and my military discount, if it's not addressed in a week, I'm already looking, and I'm gonna have to go somewhere else. Because not just that, with the experience and the service and the money being paid out, but also the caliber of vendors. I had Kelly Brothers come out. This took almost three weeks to get just a simple electrical outlet in my bathroom fixed. They came out. They looked at it. The guy tried to solicit me on the side to do some extra work and said, “Just don't tell Kelly Brothers.” And he he looked at the issue upstairs for the outlets in both bathrooms. Said, “They're not working. Let me take a picture, and we'll have to do an estimate.” I said, “Dude, this is just so easy. You could just pull the plug out and just put a new one in there.” That got kicked down a week.
I called back and called Kelly Brothers. They wouldn't answer their phone on anything. They wouldn’t answer the emails for my responses. So, I finally called AHS a few times. I said, “Look, you're gonna have to give me another vendor. This is a serious issue. These guys are blowing me off, and they're not getting it done.” If it's those types of vendors, I don't want AHS. Because if I run into an issue during the winter and my HVAC goes out, what then? And I get a shoddy vendor.
AHS called the guy from Lite It Up. He's the owner. And he was responsive. He called me on Friday and addressed it on Monday. Came out, looked at it and he said, I need a new GFI circuit. It was fried. Right then and there, he immediately addressed it. Send this guy every time. It took him less than five minutes. He pulled out the GFI plug, put in a brand new one.

I also called American Home Shield about my microwave and the company that FaceTimed with me realized that my microwave, because it was so old, couldn't be fixed. But they never turned in the information to AHS.
I kept calling AHS and they just kept saying, because it wasn't fixed, either I want my money back or something. They just kept saying that Jones Family Appliance had not responded. It went for six months. When I called about the plumbing, they said I need to pay $75. But I paid $75 last June that they have been hanging on to. I got the same runaround. "They never reported that your microwave was not fixable. Also, they knew it hadn't been fixed." But I said, "You're not gonna have $150 of mine and I'm gonna have nothing fixed." After multiple phone calls and standing my ground, they gave me the escalation department, which got the plumber out there. It was a bit of a fight on everything.
I had another experience with AHS that made me crazy, too. I had a faucet in my bathroom replaced and they had to do a hole in the wall in the hallway and they put a big plastic-shaped plate over it. The plumber said I had to request for them to have somebody come out and put a piece of drywall there. Through COVID, I called multiple times and all I ever heard was, "The contractor's contacting you," but nothing happened and I still have my plastic plate. I wanted to have it done before I had my house painted, but it didn't happen.

He even cleaned up his mess afterward. He told us everything he was gonna do. I submitted a work request on the app, then American Home Shield dispatched Lane Services on a Saturday, but Lane couldn't get out till Monday. I have a nine-month-old at the house and I needed for my AC to be working. So, I called American Home Shield, and they dispatched another guy, who was from Air Pro. He came to conclusion that my condenser outside was leaking, and it was due to dog urine, which was completely false. There was no proof of it too. The guy had no idea what he was doing ‘cause he couldn't even find a leak anywhere. He also called me first if I knew where the leak was, and I said, “I don't know. You're the expert.”
I called American Home Shield and they kept saying that the leak was outside and it was due to wear and tear that was not covered. I already had a previous leak the year before, and all they did was put a Stop Leak on it, because per American Home Shield, that’s where they had to start. Now that the leak got bigger, it was a problem. They finally said they were gonna send somebody else out, which was Lane Services. They did a proper leak test and came to the conclusion that it was my condenser. My coil inside was leaking. They replaced it, and everything’s good at the moment.
I was disappointed that I pay for this monthly service for my stuff to get fixed and I had to go through this. On top of it, American Home Shield could have tried to look at it from my point of view. Instead of saying, “Okay, let me send somebody out there to do another evaluation of the problem,” they argued with me until I finally convinced them. Even at that point, they said that they were going to charge me another $100 to send someone else out if the diagnosis was the same. Being that the diagnosis was different, I figured that they would cover the Freon for the trouble, which was another $165 that I had to pay out of pocket. I've considered changing companies, but being that we were able to find a different conclusion with my problem and get it fixed, I just left it the way it was. ‘Cause it's more of a hassle to cancel and find someone else. However, I'm sure that if I have another problem with American Home Shield, that would be the last straw.

This is report is regarding fraud from American Home Shield and their attempt at not paying the benefits according to their contract. On February 1st, 2022, I submitted a repair request for my GE built in refrigerator. Since then, I have had technicians out from American Home Shield over 12 times attempting to fix the refrigerator. For many of these times they required multiple technicians to come and verify that the work needed to be performed. On 09/18/2022 Elite Pro Appliance Repair came out and replaced the computer board on the refrigerator.
Several weeks later AHS was called again because the refrigerator was not cooling properly, it was leaking heavily and had flooded the bedroom, and the water dispenser was leaking. The technician from Elite Pro came out on 10/12/22. He diagnosed the issues and recommended a replacement as the repairs would cost significantly more than a new refrigerator. AHS requested a second opinion from Valley Appliance Services. Valley Appliance Services came to the same conclusion as Elite Pro Appliance Repair. They recommended that the refrigerator be replaced. AHS then said that they needed a third opinion.
Alfa Appliances came out on 11/03/2022 to diagnose the problem. They came to the conclusion that the refrigerator needed to be replaced due to the significant cost of fixing it. They submitted their report to AHS on 11/03/2022. Starting 11/10/2022 I contacted AHS multiple times a day checking on the status of getting my refrigerator replaced. Multiple times they told me that they would get it resolved within an hour or two. Today on 11/15/2022 I yet again called for the status of my refrigerator. Today they told me that they needed yet another person to come out for a second opinion.
This is really the 4th time they have scheduled a company to come out and look at the numerous issues. I do not have the time for an endless parade of technicians to come out for a 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th opinion, etc. Having a 4th opinion on a refrigerator is ridiculous and an obvious attempt to not pay for the replacement. I have spent more than 40 hours on the phone with AHS without a resolution. I do feel that they do not want to resolve the issue and that they are giving me the run around and do not want to pay the claim per the contract. They need to replace the refrigerator per the contract.
Hi Russell, We appreciate you sharing your warranty experience. My name is Chapie’l and I will be emailing you my contact information. I would like to speak with you more about your concerns.

I submit claims through American Home Shield's website and it's always been excellent. I have two houses both covered under them and I've always had really good service out of them. They got a decent deductible and they're very user-friendly. I've recommended them numerous times.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

Sometimes American Home Shield is fine, and sometimes it's not. I wasn’t too thrilled with American Home Shield when it was time for my air conditioner to be repaired. The air conditioner was five years old when it was put in. It was Best Care of Toulouse that came out here. That man that did the diagnostics on it said it was not properly maintained. That was what he wrote in to American Home Shield and he told them not to cover it. They also said it was an evaporator coil that needed to be replaced, so that should have been replaced and I shouldn’t have had to pay for that. I looked, and it's in my contract. I don't know why American Home Shield listened to him because I had a VIP service with Greenway Services and they've been coming out here and doing VIP services twice a year with my air conditioner. The last time that they came out and did it was just a few months passed. I had to have my air conditioner fixed. My husband and I were out of money. I wasn't pleased with it.
I went on and renewed my membership because I've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years. The rest of the experiences have been fine. They would send the people out here. If something needs to be replaced, they would. A contractor just came out here and diagnosed my cooktop on my stove. They can’t replace the part, and I’m waiting to hear from them on that.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

American Home has done what they promised to do. They paid for an air conditioning system that I needed. I had a furnace repaired and that part of it went well. But I had more problems with one of their contractors. When they came out here, the tech told me there were gonna have to be some modifications made to my air conditioning system. He told me that according to the program, he could charge for those modifications. The reality was he made zero modifications. When I confronted him on it, he said, “American Home Shield lets me charge up some to make up for some of the costs.” I was ripped off about $2,800 by him.
I never could get anybody to talk to me when I called in to tell me how to deal with it. No one would give me a breakdown of what he was charging for or what that was all about. I requested when we did the furnace that that contractor not come back out. A tech did my furnace, and he was in and out. They had a little delay getting the part but that's part of reality right now of supply chain so that didn't bug me.

TN Appliance came out twice recently. Once was for the refrigerator and once was for dishwasher issues. Jimmy did a good job. He did replace a few things on the dishwasher, and he was not able to actually restore it. It was the water coming out of the water dispenser in the door. We felt like on the refrigerator, the water flow has slowed down. He wasn't actually able to restore it back to the way we felt it was, but he did make multiple repairs and replaced multiple items that he felt like could have contributed to that. He's still working on our dishwasher. He had one repair to make and then found it was an additional thing once he pulled the dishwasher out. So, he's done a nice job.

Grade A Plumbing did my toilet. That toilet still worked, but the float was wearing. It was rattling the pipes so they put a new kind of float in, and the rattle is gone. However, sometimes, there’s a language challenge. People that are from another country need us to go a little slower. But they're smart and cheery. They grasp what you're saying. They know the rules. They know the programs. The only bump in the road was one of the people was being right to the book with American Home Shield. She said, “You gotta wait till Monday.” It's not her fault.
American Home Shield needs a Saturday-Sunday program where vendors can be on call for Saturday or Sunday. I had to wait seven days for something to be fixed, adjusted, or checked. I have asthma, and it was about heat. I didn't appreciate that. What if it is super serious? What do you do if you have water coming into your kitchen? What do you do if you have gas? You gotta wait? Or you gotta get a different vendor outside of the plan? Then you're not going to be happy because you're gonna have to pay full price.

I like American Home Shield. But sometimes they work with companies that don't do a good job. So I just call them up and ask them to change the company. They're very flexible. I opened a claim for my AC unit and they sent the company immediately. American Home Shield was very responsive and the company they assigned is also doing a good job.
