We had an electrician and a plumber come out through American Home Shield. The electrician changed the GFI and a light bulb. The electrician said that if the light goes out again, then they'll have to look at the whole wiring system. Then we had the plumber come out. The plumber's supposed to be coming again today to drain the hot water tank to see if they can get it fixed. Otherwise, it's a good experience. American Home Shield has been very professional and knowledgeable. They've always been courteous, on time and let me know what's going on.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you were satisfied with the service experience, especially the quick response time and professionalism of our technicians. It’s great to know our qualified contractors arrived promptly and ensured thorough communication during their visits. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please feel free to get in touch. We look forward to serving you again in the future!

My HVAC system wasn't working, but Little Heroes came out, and then they found that one of the motors was out. David put in a new motor and everything seems to be working good as of now. The timeframe of the claim was good. American Home Shield was pretty punctual about it. Everything was good. American Home Shield works pretty well, especially when buying a new home. I definitely would recommend it to somebody.
I was supposed to get a rekey but it didn't happen. American Home Shield couldn't find a locksmith, which is ridiculous. I'm the chef in one of the local resort, and the day before, I had to have a locksmith come, and they were there within an hour and a half. So, that was kind of baloney. I still haven't received the $100 check to get the rekey done and that was over a couple of weeks ago. I know the mail takes a little while, but I know it doesn't take that long.
We are thrilled to know you had a positive experience with our service and the quick resolution to your HVAC issue by Little Heroes. It's great to hear that David was able to assist you efficiently and that our process was smooth for you. We appreciate your recommendation and the kind words you've shared for others considering our services.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the locksmith service not meeting expectations. Rest assured, your feedback is valued. If there's more we can do, feel free to reach out at any time. Thank you for choosing us for your home warranty needs!

I was having an issue with my refrigerator. I contacted American Home Shield and spoke with a representative. The contractor was excellent. His name is Antoine. If it was him alone, I would have stayed with and recommend American Home Shield to many other persons. He explained everything to me. He showed me what was going on. He educated me with what was going on. He showed me why the parts was being ordered, and why he had to remove it. He walked me through it. He requested five parts, but AHS only approved three. They said I don't need the rest. I ordered the fan for the refrigerator, but they said that the fan can be used. It's just iced up. The head of the ice machine was broken, and they replaced the head part that's connected to it.
We’re thrilled to hear about the excellent service you received from both our representative and the reliable contractor from Sears. It’s wonderful to know that despite the initial inconvenience of the need for repairs, our technician's detailed and professional approach made a positive impact. We appreciate your understanding regarding the parts issue, and we're glad your refrigerator is back to working order. Thank you for considering American Home Shield for recommendations. If any further needs or questions arise, please feel free to reach out. Your satisfaction is our priority.

The initial plumber gave a costly and inaccurate diagnosis without proper inspection. I contacted American Home Shield. This is where they showed that they cared about the customer. At first, they wanted to charge me for a second opinion. I explained that if I was going to pay for another opinion, it would have to be someone I trusted, which meant calling my own plumber and paying out of pocket for an inspection. I told them that otherwise, they would need to cover the cost. After that, they agreed to absorb the expense since this is a second opinion and I wasn’t satisfied with the first visit.
The second opinion, Holland Plumbing, conducted a thorough inspection. They knew that they were the second opinion, but they didn't know what was going on. They didn't know what the first-opinion solution was. He identified that the sump pump was functional, only needing cleaning, saving me a significant amount compared to the first estimate. Holland Plumbing steered me in the right direction. I didn't have to be out of pocket of $1,500. It only cost me $400. I would definitely put Holland on my speed dial. They seem professional, where the other plumbers did not. He also explained to me everything in detail what was going on. He was providing me with solutions.
We are delighted to hear about your experience with American Home Shield and how we could support your needs during a challenging situation. We strive to ensure our customers feel heard and receive accurate solutions. It is heartening to know that our team addressed your concerns and that the service provided by Holland Plumbing led to a satisfactory resolution. We appreciate your trust and recommendation. It took forever for American Home Shield to fix my refrigerator. They sent three companies. The first one, the tech messed it up. So I had to call and I was super mad. Though they sent someone who really fixed it. He did a great job. It took them two months that I opened the claim to fix it. It was a disaster. American Home Shield also meesed up when I sent in a claim because my carbon monoxide in the basement was going off. They sent someone to fix it but it still was going off. So I was very mad. I waited four weeks for the tech to come and fix. It was a long time. So I gave American Home Shield the worst review ever and I canceled. Then I went back again this year because they had a promotion. $70 and $80 a year is a lot.
The ice maker stopped working 10 days ago. I turned it off and then I put it back on. So I called American Home Shield again, and they told me, "Oh, you have to pay another $100." But I told them that I was not gonna pay a penny. They're supposed to replace the refrigerator. American Home Shield agreed that they will pay $100 this time and they will refund the old one. Someone came out and he fixed it yesterday.
Thank you for seeing past any shortcomings to leave a review. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.
We are grateful for your continued support and for sharing your experience. If you have any further concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to assist you and ensure your satisfaction.

When a pipe burst out of my home, American Home Shield sent K&S. It's a plumbing company that I've been having issues with, and I've explained that to American Home Shield. So, this recent time, the tech came out and instead of doing the evaluation and telling them that a pipe had burst inside of my wall, he went in to go above his pay grade and sent in a bogus recommendation. K&S wanted to charge me $600 to fix it, and that was during the holiday.
When he originally came out, you could tell he didn't want to do the service. It was around the holidays, who would wanna work around the holidays? He was rude in the way he talked to me. When he came in, I really wanted him to leave immediately because of his presence and demeanor. He was talking to me roughly and I told him, "What's going on?" He contacted American Home Shield and then American Home Shield denied fixing my leak. It was causing damage to my floors so I told them, "Okay, I don't understand why y'all denying to fix my leak." Apparently, the tech reported that I needed to get my whole entire house repiped. So American Home Shield walked me through my policy and said they could not do it. They didn't even want to do the second review.
I've already talked to American Home Shield about K&S and told them not to send them back out to my home. But American Home Shield still sent them out telling me that these were the people that was assigned. I kept asking about different people. So they finally did a review to assign it to someone else. But they didn't even respond to me. They didn't call me. They didn't do anything. I kept calling them. It was going to voicemail. Nobody was contacting me. So me and my kids were out of serve water for two weeks because of American Home Shield. This is not the first time they dropped the ball on me.
It's terribly hard to understand the people that answer the phone for American Home Shield. They neglected to answer my questions. Everybody gives me inconsistent information. Everybody I spoke with refused me to speak with the supervisor. They wouldn't allow me to speak to anyone. So I had a terrible experience with them. I told American Home Shield that I want to cancel, and still to this point, they're still not allowing me to cancel. They do everything they can to stop me from canceling, and I don't know why. I should be able to cancel and find a new home warranty. But it's a hassle trying to get to cancel with them.
When the second company, DrainGo, came out, the tech went through and evaluated the situation. He said it was easy to fix. He told me, "We're gonna do the review. We'll send it up to them. We'll go ahead and repair it." He also added, "I'm not gonna allow you and your small children to be without water for another day." They were very great. DrainGo is a very good company. They value customer service. They understand. They have great empathy, all while being fair and diagnosing the situation correctly. But at that point, because American Home Shield took so long, I ended up having to file an insurance claim, which I don't like doing because that's why I got a warranty company. Had American Home Shield sent the people out here to fix it immediately, I wouldn't have had all of this damage to my home.
I'm very upset with American Home Shield because they keep on hiring these different contractors to come in and do subpar service. I'm spending over $100 dollars. So they collected over $12,000 from me in one year. I pay for what the services that I want and I could barely get any kind of assistance and help to get anything fixed. It took four times and me practically taking up days that I worked just to get this done, and it shouldn't be that hard, especially if you're taking $12,000 from me.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.
Best Regards,

I'm unhappy with American Home Shield's service. I'm not renewing with them. I found a $100 coupon and submitted a request. They're supposed to give me monthly tune up to check out the unit. The contractor came out. The tech provided me his quote on recommendation of what needs to be done. I thought he's gonna bring his gauges to make sure there's Freon in the unit, to validate that it's cooling properly as such. That is what I consider a maintenance tool because that's what I paid for. I didn't see any of that. He said the A-coil needed to be cleaned, which is understandable. Two weeks later, I noticed my unit is not cooling. I just paid for a maintenance cleanup. He didn't say anything about anything else needed to be done besides the cleaning of the A-coil that's in the indoor unit.
I opened up a claim from AHS to have them come to find out why is the unit not cooling. It was my parents who were here. They told me he came in, looked at it, gave an estimate. Cool. I called them when he was here. He told, "Like I told you, the air conditioning unit is not getting efficient airflow into the unit. It needs to be cleaned as well, and the outside unit looks like there's some burnt wires that need to be replaced.” I said, "Okay. Cool. I'm gonna have to submit a claim to the insurance." I called them for a break-fix, not a tune up or cleanup. A break-fix, because the AC unit would turn on but not cool.
He came out there. He did his thing. He never called me back. But I log in to AHS, provided a quote for $1,000 to do the whole entire thing, got declined. I never heard from them. I called one of my guys, a personal friend of mine, he worked on AC units. He came out. He said, "It's just a capacitor. The wire burnt out. I can fix it. That's an easy fix." He fixed it in five minutes.
I assume American Home Shield does their own background checks. I'm not gonna question them. I've been with them for three years now. I understand if it's a break-fix, they will come out and fix it. But I notice that these contractors come in and say when something breaks, it's usually due to wear and tear. This issue occurred twice when they tried to provide me a maintenance or a tune up. I requested a break-fix and they did not fix it. The same thing happened with my dishwasher. They got it fixed. But the recent tech tried to squeeze as much as he can out of the job instead of just fixing the issue, when it was just a stupid capacitor that the wire burnt out. It took 15 minutes to fix. It only cost me $200 to do, but he wanted a part for $1,000.
We appreciate your feedback about American Home Shield and your recent service experience to have the repairs completed! I would be glad to speak with you and assist with the service you have experienced.

It's been about two years since we got American Home Shield and our experience has been satisfactory. We submit claims online, which is easy and quick. When our tub faucet fell off the wall, we couldn't use the tub. We did a claim and it went great. Spring Plumbing was responsive and they came out within a couple of days and fixed the issue. The service person was a young guy who was very enthusiastic and really nice. He explained everything really well and laid out what our options were, and what would go faster and what would go slower. If we chose different parts, it had to be approved by AHS. It was fine.
The service person had to break into the wall and replace the pipe because it was too short. He was out within a couple of hours. There was a big hole in the wall, and he said, "AHS covers that. So, I'll send them the pictures, and they'll contact you." That was the only thing that was a bit of a bummer this time, 'cause I didn't hear a thing from AHS and it had been a couple of weeks.
I reached out to the Spring Plumbing guy to make sure that he sent the information and he said, "I did." He contacted AHS again, then I got a call within 12 hours. We have a sizable hole in the wall until next Wednesday, but it's on schedule for patching. Overall, I'm fine with my AHS service, but it seems that the followup had fallen by the wayside and it's not the first time that's happened. Still, if someone has an old house, getting American Home Shield is worth it. Sometimes there'd be delays that are inconvenient, but it will save them a lot of money.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield and Spring Plumbing. We're delighted to hear that the initial visit met your expectations and that the enthusiastic service technician provided you with clear information regarding the plumbing repair. We acknowledge the delay in follow-up from American Home Shield and are glad that the additional contact with Spring Plumbing helped move the process forward efficiently.
Your proactive use of our online claim submission is appreciated and we're pleased you find the process straightforward. Rest assured that we hear your concerns regarding delays in communication.
Thank you for your trust over the past two years and for recommending our service. We're here to assist you in maximizing both value and comfort in maintaining your home with more timely interactions in the future. If you have any further needs, please don't hesitate to reach out.

One is for a refrigerator that stopped working and the other is for a gas stove wherein the dials stopped working as well. I submitted the service requests online and it took about a week for the service people to come out. They had to order parts and the refrigerator repair person will come Monday, while the stove will hopefully be fixed next week.

The tech from the company that American Home Shield hired was not nice. The contractor changed the schedule three times for me and had the tenant taking the day off so he could be there. The tenant had to leave for work and come back at 3:30 because that's the last time that they changed it. He was five minutes late. However, the contractor did not call me. They just sent me an email. I specifically requested that they either call me or the tenant we could schedule, but they never did. My tenant was five minutes late. Whoever went to the house said they would call it as a missed appointment and they would not wait five minutes for the tenant. That was messed up. I was unhappy with that.
I have an AHS agreement on a call. They talked to the owner of the company. I also called the owner of the company and he told me that he already spoke with the tenant and they scheduled a time when he will be there to have a day off and to be there on time. They are going to do it this week on Tuesday. I also had two huge issues with AHS in the past.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we truly appreciate your candid feedback. We're glad our customer service agents were able to help coordinate successfully and appreciate your continued trust despite previous challenges. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the multiple rescheduled appointments and the apparent mix-up at the contractor's visit. Your understanding is invaluable to us.
Should there be any need for further assistance as you proceed with the newly scheduled appointment, please feel free to connect with us. Thank you for choosing American Home Shield. We strive to serve your home warranty needs better and appreciate your endorsement as we move forward.

I had a refrigerator that went bad. A contractor came in and put tape to hide the crack. I wrote a letter about it and sent it to American Home Shield but they never responded to me. They also didn't cover the dishwasher parts that were broken. There was a switch and something else they said were not covered. If that's the case, then what am I paying for? I'm very disappointed. I have a six-burner stove that went out on me yesterday. I gotta call American Home Shield back to have them fix that. But now, I'm wondering if it'd be easier to just go buy a new one. I spent practically $1,200 on my house and $3,000 on the other houses. American Home Shield is waste of money. If they don't respond to their customers, that tells me they don't care. All they do is grab the money and tell you to go shove it and you don't really have anything.

American Home Shield contracted with Sears on my most recent claim, but then Sears called me to make the actual appointment. So, I asked them to call me ahead of arrival so that I could leave work and be there, and they said that they would. They didn't call, and this happened twice where I made two appointments with them and they didn't call before they came, but then they put a note in the system that they had been there and I wasn't there. I made a third appointment and I took the day off, and I was sitting there as I check on the status of, “Okay, we're still in the window. But let me see if there's a time of when they're gonna be here.” There was also a note in the system saying they've been to my house and I wasn't there, which was a lie. My husband and I were there, and nobody knocked on the door.
I was over it. I called American Home Shield, told them what happened, and told them I wanted not a new contractor. Sears was my second contractor. I wanted my refund and I was done with them. So, I waited until today when my contract was up to cancel. I've been with the company for six years, and I've called them for two appliance issues and they haven't been able to fix either one. So, I don't see the sense in continuing to pay out the amount of money that I'm paying out per year.
Additionally, my first instance was I needed a contractor for my bathtub, and the one that they assigned the first time didn't work out. So due to the steady leaking of it and them being unable to find a new contractor, I went and found someone myself. The man who came out was great. He was quick and got it fixed. When I called American Home Shield to see if there was anything they could do about refunding me or comping me for the service, there was nothing that they could do.
I’m truly sorry for the frustration you’ve experienced with your recent American Home Shield service. I understand how disappointing situations like this can be, especially when you’re counting on a quick and reliable resolution. I’d really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so I can better understand what happened and work toward a solution that feels right for you.

I normally reach out to American Home Shield online for my claims. I did one not too long ago, and Science Appliances came out in less than 24 hours. They diagnosed the issue, waited a week, ordered the parts, came back, and put it together. Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. My experience is positive 80% of the time. The only time we've had a negative experience was with our air conditioner. I needed a new air conditioner. Mine was old from 2005. It still took a type of Freon that is illegal now, and they wanted to replace it with the same type, and I didn't want that so I ended up spending about $15,800 on a new AC unit. They gave me $210 for my trouble. That was in their contract. I would have known had I read it well enough. If somebody asks about American Home Shield, I would tell them to read the small print on what they do and do not pay for.

I put in a request in AHS’s portal for them to come and look at the washer. But then I ended up on the phone with them multiple times because it was not a smooth process. This is my first experience with them, and it was so inefficient that as soon as I can find a comparable replacement with better customer service, I'm going to change. I would tell others not to use American Home Shield. For my washing machine claim, IFI Services took the old washing machine out and they put the new one in. Aeon Blue came out and diagnosed our pool problem but they didn't fix it because they said it is not covered according to my contract with American Home Shield. AHS is selective as to what it covers, what it doesn't in the swimming pool area and that doesn't work for me. There are three pumps in the swimming pool, the main pump and two other pumps. They cover only one pump. They didn't tell me that at the beginning. I got disappointed because the main one has no problem. It is the second one, which is the cleaner one and that is what the problem is. Another company came and looked at the swimming pool heater and they told me AHS covers it. If it's not fixed, unable to fix it, they would replace. But the guy who came here said, "Okay, this is a pre-existing condition. You brought somebody before us." And he couldn't fix it. He took one part from it. I said, “If you cannot fix it, I'm open to fix it. Go ahead and replace the part that is broken.” But they refused to replace it. So far, I did not benefit in my swimming pool one penny from AHS.

Our dishwasher had a leak from the discharge line and it caused flooding in the house which ended up being hardwood damaged and having to be replaced, as well as the dishwasher. AHS said they could repair it for $595, but this is my third claim on it. I just wanted it to be replaced. AHS is giving a credit of that much and then helping me to buy a new one. So it's been ordered and is available for delivery. However, their sales department keeps calling me and wanting me to sign up for a warranty, despite the fact that I already have a warranty with them.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I submitted a claim online with AHS and it was easier than calling in. I had a more pleasant experience because I was able to do it through the app and I did not have to speak to one of the customer service people who don't speak English. It's always been frustrating because I can't understand them. It was much simpler this time through the app. For my recent claim, my dryer wasn’t heating. It would take two cycles to dry the clothes. The tech who came out was great. He called me and made an appointment. He came out a few days later and solved the issue. But then I continued to have issues and he was just giving me input. He recommended a new screen, that I needed a new cover and explained to me and showed me everything and what was causing the issue. But, I continued to have issues a couple of days later.
I texted him back and I said the back part came off. But he came back out and he repaired it again and it's been working great ever since. When I did my AC claim a couple of years ago, AHS gave me the runaround. The process was horrible. I ended up just paying for the AC on my own 'cause I was just over it and they ended up crediting me a portion of it. I actually looked into leaving. But I think they were the more reasonable. When I went to them and tried to canceled, they said, "Okay, we'll give you a cheaper rate.” Overall, I enjoy their service.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're thrilled that you found our app useful in streamlining the claims process and avoiding past frustrations. I called American Home Shield for an issue with my AC and they sent out an AC tech. The AC tech thought it was a electrical issue so they transferred the ticket back to American Home Shield. American Home Shield sent Power Moves out here and they came out and said, "No, everything looks fine, electrically. It's something going on with your AC." So then they had to transfer the ticket back to American Home Shield who sent the AC tech back out. They determined that it was an issue with the compressor in my downstairs AC unit. They're waiting for the compressor to get to them that American Home Shield have ordered. So then they can call me and schedule to come out and get it installed.
I've been pretty unhappy with American Home Shield. When I have a claim, I usually do the initial request online. I'll submit whatever the issue is, and then they'll do their thing. Then I'll get communication via app or text or email that it's been assigned and somebody will call me to schedule. The online process is smooth. But when you start getting into more complicated situations like the one I'm in now, the online system doesn't do a good job of giving you updates or explaining where they are in the process or what's next. So, as long as it's a bang-bang kind of thing, everything is fine. But as soon as you get into a little more complicated, it gets a little dicey.

I sent in a claim online for the dryer. American Home Shield gives a response time of 24 hours. That could be probably faster depending on what kind of situation you got. I'm a computer guy, so I could scrutinize anything, but its simplicity is there. So, it's all good. They sent out Premier to repair the dryer. I already knew what the issue was. It was just a matter of confirming that was what it was. The tech did that, had the part in hand, and did the repair and a little clean up. He was done in about less than an hour.
The service at American Home Shield is good, but the prices are getting a little astronomical. I've had them for a while now, and it goes up every year. It started off at $70 a month. Now, I'm paying $140 a month. It's getting ridiculous as for the cost. I know things go up, but it's not even economical. That's $1,400 a year you get a repair and you gotta figure it out.

The employees at American Home Shield were great. The heating company representative was excellent. However, I no longer want to be part of the program itself because it didn't really support in the way it's advertised. It states that it would give you up to $5,000 for HVAC, but all it did was give a credit and then, I had to pay market rate for a heating installation from a third party. So, it's not advantageous to me to continue to pay them $50 a month if that's what's gonna be happening. I'd rather just put $50 away a month in a home repair fund.
Submitting the claim online was not a difficult process. The process was difficult because of the sense of urgency. I'm a senior, had a knee replacement, and my house was cold for over 10 days. When I told that to American Home Shield, they did show compassion and like a sense of urgency. Luckily, somebody canceled, and that's why I was able to get in.

The representative that I spoke with was very knowledgeable and set up my claim very quickly. The contractor came out quickly and fixed the issue. The tech was great. He explained some things to me and taught me a little bit more about my system because I really didn't know. Overall, I've had very good experience with the technicians. I have no problem with American Home Shield's service in general.
American Home Shield has what I would consider a 30-day warranty when someone comes out. I feel that's unacceptable because a person shouldn't have to pay a service fee if something and the exact same thing breaks within 30 days. In my opinion, it was never fixed properly. So, if a person has to pay another $100 for the same exact issue to say every 31 to 32 days, then that's the company trying to get more money because you should warranty your service a lot longer. If you fixed it properly, there's no way that it should break again in 30 days.
American Home Shield doesn't seem like a bad company. However, customers should shop around, because I noticed that my rate has almost went up $200, when other companies are offering what appears to be the same level of service for $200 cheaper. So my current thing is $899. But other companies are offering $500 and $600 for the year. If you have a customer that long, it should have not went up all the way to $900.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with American Home Shield. It's wonderful to hear that Chesapeake Comfort Systems provided prompt and knowledgeable service during your recent heater repair.

I had some outlets that were not working, and then I had a couple of breakers that were thrown. All American Electrical was sent out and they had to come out a second time, because the first time, the guy got it working and left, but shortly after he left, the breakers tripped again. A few days later, they had to come back out, so I had to reschedule through American Home Shield for that to happen.
I had to explain to the guy what happened. The outlets in the kitchen weren't working. He found the GFCI switch that I didn't realize was behind the toaster, and it was all it needed to get those three outlets working. The other ones were for the living area, for a bedroom upstairs, and he did have to replace the breaker on those. He stuck around to make sure they were working for a little while, so I appreciate that he did that.
I normally do my claims online, and the turnaround time is good. There's an issue with the app when it comes to the electrical part. I had 2 things that they needed to do. When the electrical company called me to schedule it, they said, “We only see one thing.” I told them that I clearly marked two different things that needed to be done. The electrical company told me I've got to contact American Home Shield and have them add the other thing. Their online thing always does this. So, you have to contact them by telephone now. If I click two things on the website, American Home should tell the company that they're gonna do the service through. I shouldn't have to call. What's the purpose of having it done online, which is what they want you to do, if you have to end up calling? That was a hassle.
Sincerely,

The electricity in my garage had went out. We submitted a claim for it to American Home Shield online through the app. It's easy to use the app when it's clear cut. It's harder to use it when it's not as clear cut as what's listed. But this time, it was very easy. The contractor came and fixed the problem quickly, and it was all good to go. He communicated well with scheduling. We called him when he was on his way. He called me when he got there and let me know what the problem was. He was very efficient.
We've been with American Home Shield since 2017. I do think other options should be on their app. I had to call in because we couldn't do a claim online. I have a more recent claim. My sink just fell through, so we had to do a claim for that, but when I try to do it online, there are no options to choose that. If I choose plumbing, it asks about leaks and they say my sink has to be re-put back up. So, we had to call in to do that one. Other than that, it's fine. I've recommended them before. They're efficient. They're very responsive. I feel like I need it and it works for us. My price keeps going up yearly, but outside of that, it's a good insurance thing to have for your home, especially when you bought a new home because you never know when something may go wrong.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're glad to hear that our contractor quickly resolved the electricity issue and provided a seamless experience. We appreciate your recommendations despite noting areas where we can improve. Recognizing that there's potential for the claims process through our app to be more intuitive is valuable, particularly for unexpected or complex issues like your sink. I have been a client of American Home Shield for years, and my experience is not as good as I thought. I don't use it much, and I just asked for a service recently. They sent me a plumber but the budget that they presented was extremely high. So, I checked with an external supplier, and I realized that I have been overpaying to all the service providers that are recommended by American Home Shield. I paid annually, but I'm seriously thinking about canceling the service.
I had an incident with my water heater. Also, there was a leak in the kitchen. I ended up having another company, replacing the boiler because what they were proposing was very expensive. I found another solution and I saved $3,000. One thing that they have to improve on is the clarity regarding what is covered and what is not covered by the insurance. Every time I have had an issue and I call them, they come, they see and they appraise the case, and say, “Well, this is not covered. And this is not covered.” I have no elements at all to debate that. I just accept, so for me, it's like I were begging for something.

I use American Home Shield's service every once in a while. I like that it's convenient to set up a service online. The website is easy to use, and I don't have to make a call to schedule something else. It's all right there online. The one and only time that I had to talk with anyone on the phone was with a garage door situation, and the customer service rep wasn't able to help.
My last service request was for a dishwasher that was leaking water on the floor while it was running. We did the call for the dishwasher this past Wednesday and the technician was professional. He went straight to work when I let him in. He had a question for me, and I answered it. He repaired my dishwasher that day and when I ran it after he left, it didn't leak anymore. The floor was dry.
We've been in this house since 2018 and we've had American Home Shield's home warranty since the beginning. For about eight years now, we've had the same package, which includes the main appliances I need that I feel are gonna break down. I don't think I'm getting my money's worth though. When I first signed up, it was $75 for the trade call fee, and we're at $100 now for every instance that I call them. I didn't like that. Also, the monthly premium has been going up since I first signed up. I'm not happy about that as well, but there isn't anything that I can take off my package because I have the basics.

Our washing machine started making a loud noise and it also had an effect on the lights causing them to flicker, so we called American Home Shield, and they sent Sears out. The technician diagnosed the problem and told me what the next steps were. He said they were gonna need to replace the transmission of the washer, and that AHS would let me know what their determination is on whether or not they were going to repair the washer or replace it. AHS replaced it. We took the option of getting a Lowe's e-card and upgraded our washer. My wife is short and she has a hard time reaching the bottom of the top loader, so we got a front loader and she loves it.
During this process, American Home Shield's representatives were friendly and accommodating. They understood that I had no idea how to approach two issues, and we went through the process and set up the washer visit. Then we made a request for service for the electric. Recently, our split unit was not providing heat. We turned it in to American Home Shield for their contractor to come out and check it. HenSon's came out on the initial visit, ran some tests, and said it needed some refrigerant and a part, possibly. About a week or two later, we had to call American Home Shield. We were trying to call the contractor to get an update because the repairman talked like he was gonna come out in two more days to put the refrigerant in. But we could never get them to answer any of our calls or texts. American Home Shield finally got in touch with them the week of Thanksgiving. HenSon's sent us a text saying they had the refrigerant and the part was ordered. After that, we never heard from them again in spite of multiple texts and phone calls.
American Home Shield has made multiple calls and emails sent to them for updates as well. It was last Monday that they finally touched base with them and got them on the phone. The worst experience I had was last Monday. They kept telling us to call a different number to talk to someone higher and get the problem solved. It was the same number that they were giving us over and over. That was an issue we had, but it eventually got resolved. Then when I agreed to it, she told me that my deductible was $125 but it would be waived for my first claim. So, I renewed my contract with them.
Recently, I went online and I put my order in for a plumbing service. They charged me the $125, so I called and the first person I talked to told me to cancel the online order and call back to get my free order. So, I had to refuse the online order, then I had to call back to talk to another rep and I had to redo the order. I had to call about four times to talk to four different reps because they kept telling me something different where they were saying that their manager would call me, and that they got to get it approved. I waited a whole day and I didn't receive anything from that rep. I called again and I spoke to another person. Said their manager was going to call. Finally, they kept their word and they called to tell me about it.
The contractor they assigned to my claim was DNB Plumbing. Their tech came out, told me what was wrong, and he fixed it. He was very professional. Usually, I also run into some good customer service with American Home Shield's reps. But this last time, it was the worst I ever experienced. It was frustrating and it made me want to get rid of American Home Shield. I felt like I was just going through a loop for them to waive that fee.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I've been with American Home Shield for about a year. I had a problem with my refrigerator and they sent out a tech that didn't know what was wrong with the unit. The contractor was supposed to call SubZero, the company that makes them, but I haven't heard back from them and I can't get them on the phone. Instead, we communicate via text messages. I've texted them twice, but they haven't gotten back to me and it's coming up on two weeks. Around the same time, I encountered an issue with my air conditioner. American Home Shield sent Lumas Air out for the repair and the unit was fixed in two or three days. I was very happy with the air conditioner people.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We are pleased to hear that your air conditioner issue was resolved promptly and that you were satisfied with the contractor's professionalism. However, we sincerely apologize for the challenges you've faced regarding your refrigerator claim. It's concerning to hear about the lack of timely updates and the unresolved status of your issue.

Usually, we do it online because we have three properties, and all three have American Home Shield as a warranty. The customer experience is always good. The first time around, Liberty took a look at the boiler. They diagnosed it as a faulty release valve. They changed it. Then I thought that was the end of it. I came back into the house about 11 hours later, and it was still leaking. I called American Home Shield back, requested a follow-up appointment with them. Then they came back two days later. This time they stated that it was a cracked heat exchanger. They were trying to sell me a new boiler system, saying that the boiler should be changed. But I don't think that's the case because they received two different, independent assessments from professional plumbers. They were both saying that they were wrong, that it's not the actual heat exchanger. It's the act, the expansion that needs to be changed. If the boiler symptoms are consistent with the diagnosis, if it really was a cracked heat exchanger, then the heat wouldn't be consistent. But it is consistent. I'm just waiting for them to close the ticket so that American Home Shield could send out a different contractor to get a second opinion. AHS has been helpful, but I feel like this could be handled differently.

We couldn't understand anything that the guy they sent out was saying about what the dryer needed as his accent was really bad. I called American Home Shield, they said it wasn't covered. So I got upset.
We also have American Home Shield under my husband's name here at our house. They were supposed to fix the refrigerator. Then there was talk about it being infested so it was not covered.

We got our house in April and American Home Shield was part of our closing. We've had them eight months at this point and I like their app. It's convenient. I can get around, because I wasn't sure even what was covered. When something happens, I look at it and it explains what would be covered.
When I recently encountered an issue with my garage door, I just went in through the app on my phone and did a service request. Garage Door Experts got right back in touch with me. The app said they would contact me within 72 hours, but it happened the next day. A tech came out that following day, and he was very professional. He got the job done and went on about his business. He was informative, explained what he was doing and what was covered through American Home Shield.
The experience was painless for us. American Home Shield was right on top of it and I would definitely recommend them to anyone I know that's buying a house. It was my second time using them in that short time, because we thought we had an issue with the air conditioning in the summer. American Home Shield has tried different vendors but my heating unit hasn't been serviced yet. There is one contractor who said they were gonna fix it and they're checking with Carrier for the parts. They tried to explain everything to me. They showed up on 12th but did not update anything. I called yesterday and they said they already ordered the parts on the 14th. The expected shipment is three to seven business days. Once they get the part, they're gonna call me. These are the initial parts required to find out the next problem. So far, it's going good unless it would get extremely colder here in Texas.
Before that, one contractor showed up but said they don't service those. American Home Shield tried two or three vendors, but they didn't work with the system. I raised the request on the 6th and today is the 16th, but the unit is still not working. Other than that, I'm getting the response that is required from the American Home Shield. I’m done with AHS. I'm canceling my policy. My recent claim experience with Sears was horrible. They scheduled an appointment and they said, from 8:00 to 3:30. The guy called me at 5:45 and said he was 20 minutes out. He got to my door and I asked for an ID. He showed me a driver's license. I said, “How do I know you're from Sears?” He opened his coat and showed me this dingy blue Sears t-shirt. I let him in. He went down there. He stared at the machine like it's foreign. He went back out. He said he couldn't fix it because they don't manufacture the part anymore. He said American Home Shield should contact me within 48 hours. They didn’t. I called them and they sent me a link to order the replacement dryer, so I selected same thing gas dryer, only this was GE. But when I get my confirmation, it said electric GE dryer. I said, “I don't want electric.” I called. The guy said, “I can fix it. I have to cancel your order, and I'll send you a new link, and you just select the correct dryer.” I said, “That's what I did the last time.” He sent me this link that said cash in lieu or reimbursement. But there was no purchase link.
I ended up calling back. They said, “If you canceled it, we can't do anything.” I hung up. I called back. I get somebody that said, “I can fix this.” She fixed it. She sent me a new link. I ordered a dryer. That was great. Then I got this phone call, “Your dryer is gonna be delivered.” They came to deliver it. The tech called me at 6:45 in the morning to tell me that he was 30 minutes away. He brought the dryer in and I was waiting for him to install it. He said, “Did they tell you that this is a two-step process?” I said, “No. Nobody mentioned that.” I called American Home Shield. The rep said, “We'll put you in a queue.” She also said, “Your other option is, if you have a plumber, you can hire your own plumber and we'll reimburse you up to $125.” Okay. Got the plumber. Same one I use came out and he installed it.
I called AHS back. “How do I process the $125?” They said they don’t do that. I had three people quote the procedures to me. I was not letting this go, because I know what I was told. I called back again. This gentleman transferred me to the appliance department and the rep said, “Yeah, I see the notes here. We need your banking account information. We'll reimburse you the 125.” The reimbursement came yesterday. The next step on the paper said, “If the appliance was installed, call GE to have it hauled away.” I did that. But they said, “We can only haul it away if you use our technician.” Now, I'm still sitting with a broken dryer in my basement, trying to figure out how I can get rid of it. This has been one complete nightmare.

My most recent claim was excellent with Sewer Medic. They did their job very well with the hot water heater. But the experience with Sykes Plumbing has not been very good at all. I've got a leaky faucet that's been leaking for a month or two. First of all, they said they needed to get a new cartridge for the leaking faucet. That took about 15 days. I could have gone down to a local hardware store and got the part for it to fix it. But then, they put the new cartridge in, and it was still leaking. They said there was corrosion, and that it needed a new faucet. They said American Home Shield wasn't gonna cover that. I didn't understand why they said that American Home Shield would not replace a faucet. But as best that I read the contract, American Home Shield should replace that. We're out of $100, and we still got a leaky faucet. I'm not very, very happy about that.

The circuit board inside the garage door opener burned out, which to me, would fall under the category of normal wear and tear because the garage door has been in there since I had the home built, which is approaching 20 years. But American Home Shield denied my claim, saying that it's not normal wear and tear. They are a terrible company. I have them for at least 10 years and when I first got with the company, it was fairly easy to get a person on the phone to make a claim. The last few years, the company has taken a turn for the worse.
As a matter of fact, when they sent the first company out to try to fix my garage door, I was so dissatisfied and I tried to cancel my contract because it was so hard to get a live person on the phone to force you to do everything online now. Other than that, the contractor I got was ok. It took them about a week to schedule the service and when they came out, they were professional. But since American Home Shield denied the claim, the garage door opener is still not working. All in all, American Home Shield's service is not worth the money that they charge you. The monthly charges and the service fee have gone consistently up since I've been a customer of theirs. But the service that they give is going consistently down. I had a friend ask me about American Home Shield the other day, and I told him not to go to them. I told him to find another home warranty company.

I had my kitchen stopped up over the weekend, but I waited until late on Friday to call AHS. Monday morning was good. The plumber who came out was very knowledgeable. I like the convenience of knowing that anything major that happens, I don't have to come out of pocket more than $100. What we paid monthly, plus, the $100, I probably could have got the stoppage uncleared for that myself. I had a leak under that sink too. It's nice to know if the leak comes back within 30 days, the plumber comes back, and the stoppage too. I can have a professional come and not have to just try to risk it myself.
AHS has also greatly improved on their customer service. I had American Home Shield six years ago and any time you called in, you couldn't understand what the heck they were saying. Now it's much more clear. When I first moved here, American Home Shield was part of my package when I bought this condo. I ended up with my washer and my refrigerator replaced. But it was not a good experience. I had my washing machine sitting in my living room for a week before they could get another company to come out to bring it upstairs. It was awful. I would never work with the person they contracted out again. The product got changed, but I ended up paying more on my end than American Home Shield did. It didn't say when I got it, "We'll pay half of what you got coming." When you call and ask for something, then the specifics come in. I got a platinum program. American Home Shield needs to do better with who they get to represent them. I had a recent heating claim where they sent K&D Heating Service out. The motor was bad. It was extremely cold. At that time frame, the guy who came out said would submit the information to American Home Shield to try to track down a different motor. If not, the alternative would have been to replace the furnace. I reached back out to him the next day, and there was nothing. So, I took different measures because it was extremely cold. When I reached back out to him, he said that the manufacturer was trying to track the part down. I have a friend that specializes in that and as soon as I called him, he tracked the motor down and put it in. That whole experience was bad. The guy saying he couldn't track the part down was fictitious. He didn't try to track the part down. His whole goal was to try to get me to put a new furnace in. That was a disaster.
As far as my claims to American Home Shield, I do it online. It's automatic to a certain degree that someone will come on and let you know that the claim is being processed and they'll reach back out to you within 24 hours. They'll let you know who's gonna do the work and they reach back out to you in a half an hour's time if they need the information. You can call the people who's gonna do the service. AHS got to research the people that they are utilizing because that most recent heating company is some trash. I got the issue resolved on my own. If I'm paying for a service, I shouldn't have to do that.

My washer and dryer went on the fritz at the same time. The washer is a front loader and the drum stopped circling. The dryer on certain cycles just wouldn't dry at all. It's a gas dryer and it wouldn't ignite on certain cycles. After submitting the claim online, the tech came out the next day. I did the claim on a Friday and he called Saturday morning and asked if he could come out because he lives around the corner. He was very nice and professional. He diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts. He repaired the washer. It's working fine. But the dryer is still having an issue.
The tech wasn't able to completely repair the dryer. He thought it was a moisture sensor. So, he replaced the moisture sensor and that didn't completely fix the problem. The first load of clothes that I put in the dryer, I turned it to the normal cotton cycle, and they did not dry at all. It runs, but 15 minutes after the cycle began, I checked on it, and the clothes were still wet and cold. So, there's no heat getting to it.
I kind of fiddled around with the dial on the front that you turn to whatever cycle you want. I would kind of spin the dial back and forth and then land on the right cycle and all of a sudden, it would work, but it's not consistent. So, I think the problem is in the dial. But what happened was the tech texted me and said that he had called American Home Shield and let them know that he was not all that familiar with gas dryers. He wasn't certified in liquid propane gas. So, he wanted them to transfer the claim over to Elite Appliances, and I have not heard anything since.
American Home Shield is a great company. We've had another claim with them, and that went very well. They fixed an ice maker that was not working in the refrigerator. They also fixed a rack in the dishwasher that had kind of falling apart. My washer and dryer claim is just a rare issue where they chose a technician that simply didn't have the knowledge of a gas dryer. But as far as American Home Shield goes, they stand behind their work. They do everything they can to help you.

The acrylic knobs on my shower and tub were breaking, and the water heater wasn't maintaining hot water for long. I made a claim with American Home Shield and I explained the issued to them. They assigned Cascade Plumbing to do the service and before they came out, I also explained what was going on to them. And I had to pay a deductible for them to come out. But when Cascade came out, they called the company and told them that when the acrylic pieces went bad, I purchased a universal piece. I'm a human and I have to take a shower. So, I got that universal adapter to connect to the valve stems, so that they could turn and I'd be able to take a shower for the time being, which is what any common-sense person would do.
At first, I wasn't aware that American Home Shield covers these things. But when I called and explained the issue to them, they said that was one of the covered items. But when the techs came, they said I threw away the acrylic thing, so I was missing the piece. But I told them that I was not going to hold on to a piece that was defective and broken. I also didn't know that I had to hold on to the piece. Then they asked how were they going to know what they were going to replace. I told them they could simply check the valve stems and find their match. We did previous work on one of our older bathrooms and as a plumber, they know these things. In the end, American Home Shield denied my claim because the way the tech reported the situation made it as if the piece was missing, that I tampered with the system somehow, and that got the claim to be denied. But that was not what happened.
That pissed me off because they're plumbers with experience and common sense would tell them that these things break. So, it's not like I did something. If anything, American Home Shield should commend me for at least trying to get the thing to work. They shouldn't just turn down my claim because I took the extra mile of spending my money to get the shower to temporarily work even though I have the warranty. Other than that, the techs changed the tube that makes the water heater hot. They took out one of the bottom tubes and said that that one was defective and they weren't getting a reading from it. They said that changing that one tube would address the problem, but I'm still having the same issue. The water heater is still not staying on hot enough. Within 5 to 10 minutes of being in the shower, the shower starts getting cold. So, the water heater is not functioning properly.
Overall, American Home Shield covers things. It's just a headache getting things covered and no one wants to do that. They shouldn't use nonsense technicalities to deny a claim because that's not right. In the beginning, my experience with them was so great. I've even referred several people to them.. But the claim process is not the best. I had a couple of electronics that went bad and one service request took almost half a year to get done. It was just a runaround each time and eventually, you sort of give up. And when it really starts to bother you, you try again.
For example, I had a TV that went bad, but that TV was not in their system. So, you call one department and then that department doesn't know what to do or it's not the department that handles TV. So, then they transfer you to another department who also doesn't handle TV because the TV is different from the other things that are covered because the home electronic is covered by another company altogether. So, it's mostly the claim process that creates the issue. One department doesn't understand the other department's responsibility and it becomes a cluster when you're trying to make a claim. But when a claim gets approved, it is approved to my satisfaction at most time. Despite that, I have seen that American Home Shield is in the top, but it seems that other companies get higher ratings and I have been looking into those.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

I've been with American Home Shield for a year and a few months. I recently had an issue where there was some snow getting in through a gap in my roof, and they had a man come out and do a great job. He fixed it right up quick. My experience with the contractors has always been excellent. It's the app and the customer service side of things that have been subpar. I've never been able to log into the app, and it's incredibly difficult to get transferred to the right department for my questions because the phone tree is insufficient. Plus, sometimes when I go in, there's a situation where the system is so convoluted that they can't fix an issue without being able to do the thing that they can't do in order to fix it.
Most recently, when I tried to log in, I got an email from American Home Shield saying that I had to pay a service fee, which I thought I had already paid the day before. I took a look at it and followed the link. It took me to the website and I could not log into the website using any password. I tried to reset my password. It did not recognize my email as being attached to any account. This was the email that they have always communicated to me with and I don't have any other email that it could be under with them. I called the customer service number and there was no way to get through to the department I needed on the phone tree. It kept dropping my calls.
For me not to be able to get through to anyone and for them to not know what department to send me to is typical for the phone tree. So, I did what I always do. I called the number for the sales team because they always answer that number. That's the only way to get through to customer service. I told the sales team what was going on and they transferred me to the correct department in customer service. I explained the issue to the woman, and she said, "Looks like you don't have the right account number listed in your profile 'cause we give you a new one every year when we renew your contract with us.” This was something I was not aware of because as far as I know, I was not sent a new account number, although I might have missed it in the mail.
The woman from customer service said, "What you need to do in order to fix this is you need to go to the website and log in." I said, "Okay. How do I do that when I can't log in to the website?" She didn't seem to understand 'cause at the same time, there was a glitch happening with the website where apparently a lot of people were having trouble logging in. She said to wait and try again in a few days. She seemed to have forgotten the fact that I couldn't log in at all because it didn't recognize me as having an account.
As for the repairs, sometimes it takes a little longer than I'd like to get somebody out to fix something, but I understand that contractors are often in high demand. I understand if I have to wait a week, but sometimes it ends up being more than a week and a half. If someone is considering whether or not to get a home warranty, I definitely would go for one, because it has saved me a lot of money as a first-time homeowner. I had an appliance break within the first year, which I ended up not having to pay anything to have it replaced because of having the home warranty. I would've been out hundreds of dollars if I hadn't had it.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear that the contractor effectively resolved the issue with your roof repair and that our home warranty provided valuable coverage on your appliance replacement. However, I am sorry to learn about the challenges you faced with both our app and customer service availability due to account recognition issues and complicated call transfers. Your patience amidst these frustrations is greatly appreciated. Please know we value your input and aim to refine our services to ensure convenience and satisfaction for our users. I have seven homes with American Home Shield, and doing claims online makes it simple. Information is there. Each property is set up under its proper account. The only thing is you can't get through online. You got to go through all automated. It's also very difficult to get some person in the United States that speaks English that you can understand. So, I do everything online.
I recently submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The dryer was making a very loud noise and the washer was leaking water. The claim was for my house up in Claremore, and since I did it on a Sunday, somebody came out by Tuesday. It was fairly quick. The tech was able to take care of the dryer. He found four issues with the washer, and he wasn't sure they were going to agree to it. It took about three additional days but they decided they could either fix it or they'd replace it at a certain value. They could give a list of washers or give me a certificate to Lowe's for the amount of money. We looked at the list and picked one that was close to ours. The date they were saying it was gonna be delivered was within four days, and it came in earlier. They called and asked if they could deliver it. So, the process went well.
I recommend American Home Shield. We've been with them for three years now, and it's taken about three years for them to understand that all of the contracts need to be sent to my home address and not to my renters, which I never end up getting. They finally got that squared away this go-around. Every year, it's a game. I have to renegotiate because there were no claims, and they go up in pricing.
We appreciate your thoughtful feedback about your experience with American Home Shield. It's fantastic to know that our online claim system provided a convenient process for managing multiple properties. We are pleased that our contractor promptly addressed your dryer and washer concerns to your satisfaction and that the replacement process unfolded seamlessly.
We understand that effective contract management was a pressing matter, and though it brought its challenges over the years, we're glad that we've now resolved the address correction successfully. Also, though we aim to offer competitive pricing, we genuinely appreciate your recognition of our service consistency.
Your endorsement, despite navigating these challenges, means a lot to us. Should any further questions arise or you require additional support, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to continuing to support you and hope each experience here runs even smoother in the future.

I was having problems with Sears Home Services who came yesterday. They had a window at 10:38 and they said they were on their way. They showed up at 3:30 and the driver made nothing but excuses like he had to turn around or somebody wasn't home. I didn't buy any of it. Then, when he was putting the part in, he said he didn't have the tool to complete the job. So now, my refrigerator is completely dead. They want to order another part and come out again. But it would be the sixth visit. I emailed American Home Shield Member Services that they said I could communicate with by email and I've not heard back. They also claimed that I canceled the service call and that I have a part that I didn't have, but they didn't even specify the part.
So it's been a real nightmare with American Home Shield lately. They got their pros and their cons. But their communication and the follow-up are very poor. I have called them as well and told them that if they aren't going to resolve this and do the right thing, then I'm just going to go through the Better Business Bureau and let them handle it. They're really nice when you talk to them, but there is no action and I don't know what to do. It's been a month and my refrigerator is not fixed. Two technicians and five visits and they're still not fixing anything. What gets me is you can't even call Sears Home Services and you can't get a live person with American Home Shield. It's all AI and there's no way to talk to anybody.
I apologize for the inconvenience you’ve faced with your refrigerator repair and communication with American Home Shield. Ensuring reliable service and clear, prompt responses is our priority, and we regret that this has not been your experience. The absence of necessary tools and repeated attempts without suitable resolution is far from the standard we aim to achieve.
As you're considering escalating the issue, we genuinely hope for the opportunity to make it right and regain your trust. Please reach out if you need further assistance in holding local technician visits and ensuring follow-through. Thank you for voicing your concerns, and for highlighting areas for our improvement.

The people that we bought the house from included one year of American Home Shield. Lo and behold, we hadn't lived here a month or so, and the hot water heater went out. They replaced it, so we preferred to keep them. However, the most recent claim with the AC was aggravating. The heat didn't work with a heat pump so I had to choose AC because that was my only choice. It's not really a furnace, it's a heat pump.
The first guy that came out said it was an electrical problem. Then an electrician came out three or four days later and said there was nothing wrong with the electricity. I asked to get a second company to come out instead of the first 1 who told me it was an electrical problem. That created a little confusion. American Home Shield assigned it to Lowry Heating & Air, the second company, but only as a second opinion. They couldn't fix anything. I called and tried to talk to them three different times, and all three times it's somebody I know whose English is a second language because I could barely understand them sometimes.
Lowry Heating & Air came out and the guy said he replaced a fuse in it. A few days later, it went out again. The guy came back and said the thing that plugs in on the disconnect box wasn't seated all the way or it come loose. I seated it and made sure it was tight and completely seated, and everything came back on. But a day or so later, it turned off again. I took a voltmeter and sure enough, there was no power coming out of the disconnect box going into the air handler. I pushed on the plunger that makes the connection, and it started back up so I called them back. They came out and the guy came with a new disconnect box. He removed the old one and replaced it with a new one, and it's been fine since then.
Several years ago, I opened a ticket and asked American Home Shield if I could get Lowry Heating & Air assigned? They said, "We don't show them in your service area so we can't assign them.” They assigned it to somebody else in northeast Columbia in South Carolina, and it's over an hour away from here, so it didn't make sense to assign it to somebody that's over an hour away versus somebody that's 10 minutes away. The guy did a good job, but Lowry Heating & Air is 10 minutes from me. This time, they let me use them.
Considering my 21 years of experience with American Home Shield, I would recommend them. The monthly premium and the service charge for somebody to come out have gone up, but we're probably broke even. There were some years we hadn't called them at all, but you get to a year where the air conditioner or a washer or a hot water heater goes out. Overall, I'm happy with them.
Thank you for being a long-term member and for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the challenges you faced during your recent AC claim, especially concerning initial misdiagnoses and delays. It's essential to us that your issues are resolved efficiently and accurately, and we understand the inconvenience the situation and contractor assignments have caused.
We are pleased that Lowry Heating & Air ultimately remedied the situation by replacing the faulty disconnect box. Your patience over the years and reasonable perspective are valued, contributing to continual adjustments and improvements. Thank you once again for your invaluable input and understanding. We're glad to be a resource when you need us the most and appreciate your recommendation despite occasional challenges.

A gentleman from Wright Refrigeration came out and did everything he was supposed to do. For this claim, I called American Home Shield over the phone and the person I talked to was good. However, sometimes it's hard with their customer service. Sometimes it's easier when you have more of a more fluent-speaking person.
American Home Shield is good when they're good. You can get things repaired. However, when we know something is broken, sometimes it takes longer for someone to finally say they will replace it versus constantly constantly repairing the same thing that you're calling about. A couple of times, they ended up reimbursing me for the $100 that I paid. But that was after I voiced my concern that I had called for the same issue multiple times within a certain time frame.
We are delighted to hear that you found the service with Wright Refrigeration efficient and that your experience with American Home Shield generally met your expectations. We truly value your feedback regarding the temporary repair observations and the drawn-out service resolutions. By understanding such experiences, we can work towards enhancing communication and service effectiveness in the future. I did an online claim for my washing machine that wasn't working, and it was extremely easy to do. A contractor then reached out to me by phone and scheduled the appointment. Everything went really well. The scheduling process was very easy. They communicated their time frame with me. Their time frame was very rapid too. They scheduled me for the next day and they came out that day. When I called them back to confirm timing, they picked up and responded very quickly as well. I was extremely happy.
The only issue that I've had with American Home Shield was when one of my refrigerators conked out. They refused to authorize repairs because it wasn't the refrigerator in the kitchen, which is ironic because we use still the refrigerator for food and it's still important. Otherwise, every other experience I've had with American Home Shield has been positive. I actually switched from a different home warranty to American Home Shield because of their great service. I would tell others to buy American Home Shield, and I've done that before.

I'm not happy with what American Home Shield decided to do with my stovetop. I was with them before but they did something I didn't like. They didn't honor a part of the contract, and now they're doing it again. I have a stovetop and one side burner went out. I filed a claim for it and the repairman that came out said my fans aren't working the right way. I have a downdraft to my stovetop and the bottom of the downdraft rusted out. But that has nothing to do with the stovetop which was what I called for.
Since the repairman said that it rusted out, it was preexisting problem and American Home Shield didn't honor it. Now the downdraft has nothing to do with the fan which I didn't call about. I asked for a manager, and they gave me one. I asked for another one but they wouldn't go any further. They didn't even have to touch the fan because we know how to work that. But they were not gonna fix the burner because they said that it was busted. They want me to have an inspection done to say that the rust does not have anything to do with the burner.
I apologize for the inconvenience you've endured with your recent stove claim. It’s disappointing to hear about the challenges you've faced, especially regarding the focus on irrelevant details and the refusal to address the burner issue. We called American Home Shield to file a claim for the electrical issues with plugs with the electrical outlets. The rep we spoke with was outstanding. It took the contractor a couple of weeks to come out, but most of that was my scheduling issue, not theirs. However, they could not find the problem. They said that they thought it was a broken line in the slab that had caused the line to break. There's nothing we could do with that so we're just gonna have to live with the plugs not working. The first contractor that was assigned to repair my toilets never responded, so there was quite a delay in transferring the work order to the second contractor. Then they didn't have the necessary parts so there was a further delay for ordering parts. I was a little disappointed with the overall response to my claim. All of the responses that I've had to claims so far have been very slow.
I also discovered that I had to submit a second claim to repair the second toilet. Neither repair took more than a few minutes but I had to pay for two claims and it was quite a delay, which causes me some alarm with respect to how prompt would be the response if I had a genuine emergency. These toilets were not leaking on the floor. They were just running. I just kept one of them turned off for a couple of weeks and turned it on occasionally to use it.
Other than those, the repairman was good. When I asked him to look at the second toilet when he came out, he said he needed separate work order. But he looked at it and recognized that he needed to order a part, so at least there was some efficiency in that respect. But it was an extra interaction to establish the second work order then wait for parts that apparently were not in stock locally. They were very helpful and prompt when they got the part but I have no idea why a part for a bulk purchase store toilet would not be locally available. Another thing is doing an online claim with American Home Shield is a but tedious. It would be more convenient if I just had a phone number.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced with the delays and the challenges during your claim process. Your concern about submitting claims online and confusion with the separate work orders for each toilet has been noted. American Home Shield sent out a tech but it was pretty obvious that he didn't have a lot of familiarity with Miele appliances. He ordered a part and was here for two hours struggling to put the part in, but that didn't fix the issue. Then he told me he had to go home and do some searching and figure out what the issue might be. That did not increase my confidence. It confirmed what I suspected, that he wasn't really qualified to operate on the appliance that I have. The other thing is after he came out, I've been having power modulation issues with the equipment. He might have messed something up further by replacing the part that he did. We've got assigned another company but haven't come out yet.
I've recommended American Home Shield to my mom who lives on a fixed budget so that she doesn't have to worry about big expenditures. But for someone that doesn't have those issues, I would tell them stay away from American Home Shield. I got them a couple of years ago. We live out in the middle of nowhere and at the time, it was hard for us to spend time and figure out a good contractor of any issues that we were having. What we were hoping for was this would streamline that process for us, having a network. If anything came up, we'd be able to, ideally, quickly get it taken care of.
However, with American Home Shield, it takes forever to get something fixed whenever we have an issue. Also, I can't always trust the companies that they send out. In a case like this, they find me another company if I have issues. But that just increases the amount of time it takes for me to get my issue resolved. I've had quite a few situations where I might go months without my issue being solved, just because it takes them that long to get me the right person here.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Go ahead and sign up with American Home Shield. I've had a satisfactory experience with them. When submitting my claim, besides me not trying to figure out is this furnace, gas, or electric, it was easy. However, it's frustrating to have an issue and I have somebody that's supposed to fix it, and when I call to find out what's going on, nobody knows anything. I'm big on communication. I wanna know what's going on, where we are with this.
I had a little frustration with the communication piece from H&J to American Home Shield. When I asked about the updates, they told me that I could contact H&J. My rebuttal was, “Why do I need to contact them? They work for you guys. They work for you. They don't work for me. I pay you. You pay them. It's not my job to make sure that they're updating and see what's going on. It's your job.” I didn't hear anything back, so I called another day. The next person that I spoke with was very helpful. She said she didn't see anything, but she would escalate it. And if I didn't hear anything from H&J within 24 hours, to let her know.
The next day, I got a message from them, from her escalating it. It was a loud noise coming from my HVAC system. I know what the piece was. I wasn't home when they came. My husband was, and he couldn't tell me what they need to replace. All he could tell me was they had to order a piece. And once the piece is ordered, they'll come.
The piece gave out, which was not producing heat in my house. But once the issue was escalated, I got better communication from H&J, and once they got a date that the piece would arrive, they set up my appointment. They kept in touch with the messages, letting me know what time my appointment was scheduled for, what time my contractor would arrive between. They communicated when the contractor was on his way, so after they got the piece and the communication piece got together, everything was okay.
I would find it helpful if, on the website, when working with contractors, if it's something that cannot be fixed immediately and it's a piece that needs to be ordered, if that could be noted on the app, so that way I don't have to question what's going on. The updates via the app save time with me having to call and speak with someone.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We regret hearing that you faced communication disruptions initially and the additional effort you had to make to receive updates. However, it's reassuring to know that upon escalation, satisfactory communication was established, and H&J Heating eventually provided the needed updates to lessen your worries during an emergency situation.
We're pleased that our app made submitting a claim convenient for you as well. Your feedback on communication and claim follow-up is invaluable as it highlights ways we can further improve our service. We greatly appreciate your recommendation and are dedicated to enhancing our operational transparency and coordination for a smoother experience.
If there's anything more we can do for you now or in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're devoted to delivering dependable service all year round irrespective of the seasons, especially in dire environmental conditions such as yours during cold months.

Ansley Appliance came out for my refrigerator and said that my refrigerator was too hard for them to do. They were gonna see if they can just transfer it to another company to figure out. Now, that company is not figuring out either. I'm supposed to get a call from American Home Shield. I have yet to get a call. It's been over a week now. I'm pretty upset about this. I also referred AHS and I was supposed to get some type of discount. Never got it. When I referred them to my other family members, they didn't satisfy them enough. So, they canceled AHS and went with someone else. That was embarrassing. I don't refer AHS anymore at all.
I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you've had with your refrigerator repair and the subsequent lack of communication. We understand the importance of receiving prompt and reliable service, especially to maintain your trust after years of loyal support. It's disappointing to learn about the referral disappointment and anticipated discounts that were expected but not received. We highly value the feedback from our long-term customers. Our refrigerator stopped cooling. I made a claim with American Home Shield in their app and it was easy to use. But the first tech they sent out was pretty rude. So, I asked for that one not to be sent again. Also, they had to order a part, which has taken almost a month to get. Then the second tech came to fix it finally on Monday and he was much better than the previous tech. But the refrigerator is still not cooling. So they're having to come back to see and hopefully, the third time's the charm. I would tell friends and family members that they should explore American Home Shield. I have the warranty since October and I'm glad I have it. It's better to have it than not have it.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you’ve faced during the repair process for your refrigerator. It's concerning to hear about the delay in receiving the necessary parts and the multiple visits required without resolving your issue suitably. We expect standards of professional conduct and service excellence from our contractors and are disappointed to hear that was not fulfilled.
Our goal is to streamline the process and ensure efficient and satisfactory solutions to prevent occurrences like this. I usually call American Home Shield and use the automated service when I have a claim. Setting up an appointment is usually easy. I recently had a claim. I scheduled the service on Friday of last week, and then I got a phone call on Monday morning from the agency. They were able to have somebody come out that day, which was great. So, it was a very quick and easy appointment. It was a great plumber that came. He was very knowledgeable, and it was a good experience. He was able to fix the problem within 30 minutes. It was a good experience overall.
I just had to make another request yesterday because our dryer stopped working. We're having somebody come out tomorrow to hopefully fix that. American Home Shield is a good resource to have, to call and get somebody to come out. I've never had any issues with any of the contractors, too. They've always been polite and helpful. I've had American Home Shield for about 15 and a half years, and I've recommended it to my friends and family members in the past, especially when they're new homeowners. To me, it's a much cheaper option than having to go out and buy new appliance or new items.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear that handling your recent plumbing issue through American Home Shield was so seamless. It's great to know that you found the scheduling process easy and that you were pleased with the prompt and knowledgeable service from the plumber. Your ongoing satisfaction with our services and recommendation means a lot to us. We're proud to continue being a trusted resource for handling unexpected home issues. I sent in a claim for my oven. The same problem happened last year with the same oven. I called American Home Shield and they had Sears come out pretty promptly. The gentleman came out, looked at the oven and he did test. He was in there for about 30 minutes and he was checking electrical things like if the sensors were good. He thought it was the valve that was not right. So, he ordered a valve. Then when they couldn't do it, they put it in though because it had to do with the gas. So, they were gonna have to have a plumber come out or somebody that was licensed to work with that.
I had another guy come out who works for Appliance Repair Service. He had been out here last year whenever we had to fix my oven. He was a very nice guy. He said, "No. It can't be the valve because if it was the valve, you wouldn't even have your burners on top of the stove." Last year, they replaced the burner and the igniter. He said, "It's got to be that igniter. Because you're getting gas to your stove or you wouldn't have the capability to cook on top of your stove.” That made sense to me. So he ordered the other two parts and said they were gonna replace those. He said, "If they ordered those and they're not factory parts, they won't last long enough." So he ordered the parts and he told me they came from a reputable company that made good parts. It's been working just fine. He was really awesome.
Sometime earlier this year, my refrigerator quit. A guy came out from Sears. He barely pulled the refrigerator out, looked at the back and said, "Oh, we're gonna have to order you a new compressor." He ordered the compressor and when it came in, another guy came from Sears to put it in. But he told me, "I'm not really sure that's the compressor that's what's going on." So he checked something else and the issue was a relay switch. He happened to have one in his truck. So he fixed it. If that first guy would have checked anything, he would have been able to find out that it was the relay, not the compressor. But he didn't check anything. He just looked at the back of the refrigerator and said, "Oh, the compressor." But it wasn't. We wasted a week and a half waiting for those parts to come in. We had to keep food in a refrigerator outside in the shop. It was a big hassle.
The experience depends on what service technician you get. That's the deal breaker right there. It's who you get to come out, whether it's a good experience or not. If that guy would have fixed that the first time on my refrigerator, if he'd have taken the time to check it really, then it would have been a much more pleasant experience. But he did not. Also, I don't like the price that I pay for American Home Shield. It's $90 a month and then I have to pay 125 for the service call. American Home Shield is good to have. But it is pricey.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We understand the concern surrounding service quality and multiple visits needed before reaching a resolution. It's great that a competent technician from Appliance Repair Service ultimately resolved your oven issue using quality parts. We sincerely apologize for initial diagnostic challenges and the delays that led to frustration, especially during the holiday season.

This is my second time with Amerian Home Shield. I had left them because their prices had gone up. I was with them for eight years. I went with another home warranty company but I didn't like that other company. What I didn't like is the fact that when they send their contractors out, I had to give the contractors my card number. And I'm like, “You didn't get paid from the warranty company?” Every time I call for a service to be done, I don't want to be giving different contractors my card number. I wasn't used to that because every time I call American Home Shield, they just take it out of my account as usual. So, even though that company was cheaper, I ended up going back to American Home Shield last year.
When I do a claim, normally, I call it in on the phone. Sometimes, if it's busy, I just use the automated and submit my claim that way. They tell me who's coming out. And they ask me, “Is it okay?” The automated system asks, “Is it okay to take the money?” It's quite simple. I prefer that versus the other company.
I have a claim for the refrigerator and Sears was sent. Sears has to come back out because the ice maker works but it's not dispensing out the ice. The water comes out but for some reason, the ice is not dispensing. It makes the ice and the flap opens up, but nothing comes out. I don't know what the issue is.
With Sears they always give you the time frame of 8:00 to 3:00. That's a whole working day. I can see a three- or four-hour time frame. But a whole day? You mean to tell me I have to be here at my home? If they say, “Okay. We're coming out between 12:00 and 2:00 or 12:00 and 3:00,” maybe I can have a partial day at work and leave work early. But to have a whole day, I can't be doing that. Sometimes, they’ll say, “Well, these are the dates that we have available.” So, they don't have that many technicians? Maybe they are biting off more than they can chew and they need to hire some more technicians or stop picking on jobs.
I talked to American Home Shield. They've been great with the whole situation. I’ve been telling them that I prefer to just communicate with them, ‘cause at this rate, I think Sears sucks. And I told them, in the future, I don't want to see this contractor to come out anymore, that they send someone else. And they made a note. But being that they started the job, someone else had to again come out to look at the refrigerator, and they wouldn't charge me even though the issue still is not fixed.
Sears didn't communicate with me that they were waiting for parts. They have my email and phone number. They can tell me the date and time that they're coming. And then they wouldn't come because of a missing part.
One time they came out, the guy moved so fast off the porch. I was in the bathroom. I was like, “Is there somebody at the door?” He rang the bell, and knocked. But I had the water running, so I didn't hear him. By the time I got up, I looked at my phone, I tried to call him and he was just riding on up the street. He grabbed his bag and was gone.
I called Sears, called American Home Shield to say he didn't wait at all. I had experienced that with them a couple of times where they just didn't come when they were supposed to come. And when they came, he was gone with the quickness. The fourth time, I had the front door open to make sure that he knows someone is home.
I'm not experiencing any bad problems as far as AHS is concerned. I can communicate with American Home Shield. It's the bad communication with Sears. A couple of times, I was able to speak to a representative with Sears but most of the time, it's automated system you're speaking with and trying to get appointments. At some point, especially when you keep going back and forth, you need to speak with someone directly so things can get taken care of, versus an electronic machine. So, I wouldn't recommend Sears to anyone.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are thrilled to hear about your positive experience transitioning back to American Home Shield. Our team aims to deliver exceptional service, and we're glad to know our responsiveness and seamless claim processes have been beneficial. It’s great to hear we could bring you the conveniences you value, like not having to share credit card information with our different contractors.

I've always had American Home Shield at different houses since the late 1990s, and my last two experiences with them have been great. Recently, they called me up and wanted to do an inspection of the heating and air conditioning system. They were supposed to get back with me with an estimate to replace everything but I haven't heard from them about that. But as far as the contractor, they were great. Also, my claim for a dishwasher went very smoothly. The contractor was incredible as well.
I lived in Mississippi and I was living in Louisiana. Sometimes American Home Shield has problems having a vendor that can come do the repairs. They're limited to the number of vendors that they work with in certain areas. That's my only complaint. Sometimes they don't have a vendor and you gotta find somebody. Then it's difficult to get the job done because they gotta submit an estimate and American Home Shield has to approve it.
We truly appreciate your continued trust in us since the late 1990s and are delighted to hear that your recent experiences have been positive. We're glad to hear that your dishwasher claim was handled smoothly and that you had a great experience with the contractor, TCA HVAC. We apologize for any delay you encountered regarding your HVAC system estimate and understand the impact this can have. While we aim to provide a seamless experience, we recognize vendor availability can vary and are taking steps to improve this, especially in areas like Mississippi and Louisiana.

I had a claim for a heating issue and working with Home Shield was easy. Working with the companies they sent wasn't so easy though. From the time I submitted my claim to the time when I finally got heat was about six weeks. Home Shield sent out one company and these guys said, “Oh, it's working fine. It's showing that you're getting heat,” but I wasn't getting heat. Then they said they weren't certified to work on my system, so then Home Shield sent out Fast Response, and they sent out a young guy who said it needed a part. It took them a little bit over a week to get the part.
Somebody else came out and installed the part, and after that, it warmed up a little bit, so I didn't have any issues. When it got cold again, I wasn't getting heat. Whenever it got cold, the temperature dropped in the house. The guy who installed it said to contact him if it doesn't work. So, I contacted him via text and he asked me for my address. After that, I never heard from him, so I called American Home Shield and I told them the issue was still happening. They contacted Fast Response and said they were gonna send somebody else out.
I waited all day on a Saturday and they never showed up. They didn't call me to say they weren't showing up. I called them again on Monday. It happened two more times where they said they were coming and they never showed up. They finally showed up, and the guy installed whatever he installed, and I do now have working heat. It was a struggle, but we finally got it done. This is my first time using Home Shield, and they were great. They didn't charge me no matter how many times somebody came out.
Thank you for bringing your detailed experience with us to our attention. We are sorry for the inconvenience you encountered during the extended process of resolving your heating issue. I submitted work orders online to American Home Shield for a faucet repair and another one for a drain stoppage. There were bugs on the website but after a few submissions, I knew what to do. I received the contractor details but there was no option to request or avoid specific contractors. The contractor that came out told me that the repair was not something they could fix on site that same day and then, the repair orders were not covered by the home warranty. So, I called some other contractor to have things dealt with.
It wasn't clear why the repair wasn't qualified for home warranty and it took multiple days to schedule the initial appointment, only to be told that this cannot be fixed, which was quite disappointing. Later on, I had an unpleasant exchange with the owner of the business. And on the second repair order, they weren't able to fix it either.
I apologize for the difficulties you've encountered during your service experience with American Home Shield. We understand the frustration caused by the wait and lack of communication regarding your coverage and the need for a new contractor due to the repairs being uncompleted. Your feedback is invaluable. It needed to be replaced, there was no fixing it. They'll be coming to replace it next week. They told me to keep the towel near the wall and if it gets worse or it completely floods, to let them know. They were knowledgeable and great at communicating. They're top quality. The fourth air from the vents down in my living room area was not coming out strong. I knew it was the ductwork because I got a friend who works with HVAC tell me what was wrong so that I wouldn't get taken advantage of. I reached out to American Home Shield and since I have the highest tier coverage, it covered it. I called American Home Shield on the 29th of December. They texted me the next night to tell me that somebody was coming the next day at 10:00. That didn't sit well with me because they did not even give me an option to say yes or no. I actually couldn't be there at that time because I had already told somebody else that I would take them somewhere. So, I texted them back and asked why they were texting me late at night to tell me that somebody was coming the next day. I also told them that I couldn't do that next day but I could do January the 5th. They rescheduled it to January the 5th from 8:00 to 12:00.
It was 12:45 when the repair guy got here. He was in there for two minutes. When he came in, I told him that the air wasn't coming through. He said they don't do ductwork. I said, "Well, why are you here? You don't do ductwork. This is what I need." He asked where the thermostat is. So, I showed him where it is but I also told him that I don't have any problem with the heat. He asked where the furnace is, went down the basement, and he said there was nothing he could do. I was livid. So, I called the contractor and left him a message. The next day, I got an email from American Home Shield about a second opinion. I didn't need a second opinion though because the first service wasn't right. The owner of the contracting company called me back and told me that there was nothing they could do unless they tear the house up. It didn't make sense to me.
Long story short, I still had to pay $125 and nothing was done. I got tired of going back and forth with it. This was not the first time I had to go back and forth with them about a service. I'm scared to get rid of them. I actually got rid of them before for something similar to this. Then once I did my research, they were the better one and I need something in case something happens, so I got them back. It's just that this most recent experience was not good. Going back and forth with them and getting my money back was like fighting a losing battle to a degree.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

The original service claim was for HVAC and the technician found a leak that explained why there was no heat on the second floor and fixed it. When he repressurized the system, another pipe burst, so he fixed that too. He told me the heat should come back in a few hours. The technicians were courteous and professional, but the original problem wasn’t resolved. My tenants told me the next day there was still no heat. I had also submitted a plumbing claim preemptively because there was water, but the main issue was HVAC. That original HVAC claim was closed when it shouldn’t have been.
Platinum Home Services came back under a plumbing claim, even though it was the same technician and he told my tenants it was an HVAC issue. That resulted in another service charge, which shouldn’t have happened. It’s resolved now, but only after the technician came back and burped the system because there was air in it. There’s a strong chance I’m being charged for two service claims when it should have been one. And that needs to be resolved.
I’ve had American Home Shield for almost four years now and this kind of problem doesn't happen often at all. They're usually good with this, and even the techs that come out are too. There's only been one tech ever that it was like pulling teeth, but American Home Shield doesn't have much control over its vendors. I called because I needed the microwave above the range fixed. The technician told me it was a two-person job and said he’d try to find someone. It took two months just to get him in, and during that time, I kept calling American Home Shield because nothing was happening. They kept telling me the technician would contact me, but he never did unless I contacted him first. I ended up calling him more than 20 times on different days just to follow up.
After weeks of this, I told American Home Shield to please take him off the contract because he had already held the job for three weeks, which should have been more than enough time to get someone out. This is the longest time I've ever seen anybody not take care of something, when usually, it takes 24 to 48 hours. I always eventually get someone out, but it took me doing my own contacting and constantly following up with this guy. Every time I asked American Home Shield to cancel him or send someone else, they said nobody else in the area could take it and it kept automatically going back to him. They said they had to give him 24 hours to respond, but he never did, and weeks kept going by.
AHS suggested reimbursement, which I didn’t have time for, so I ended up calling the contractor every day. Eventually, he said his best guy was back from vacation, and the next day the job finally got done. These were one-off issues and for the most part, I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield.
Sincerely,
Marc

My last two claims with AHS have been absolutely disastrous. I had a dishwasher that had to be replaced because it could not be repaired. When the replacement was delivered, they said they couldn't install it because the flooring was up against the old dishwasher. So, I had to pay someone to come and take care of that and pull out the old dishwasher. Then I called to tell American Home Shield that it was ready, but it took more than two weeks to get someone out here. Someone came, installed the dishwasher, and got all finished. Then he hit the start button and it wouldn't run. He said there was something wrong with the dishwasher and thought it was the pump.
So, I called again and said that the dishwasher wasn't working. American Home Shield told me to contact GE because that was the appliance brand, and it would be under warranty. I called, they came, and it turned out that the technician who had been here originally had not turned the water valve on. And that was all that was wrong. So, he was very incompetent.
Then I had a very similar situation with the washing machine. AHS sent a company out and they said the starter button needed to be replaced. They said they would call me when they had it. I was without these appliances for over a month. When the tech came, he installed the new starter, hit the button, and it wouldn't start. He then he pulled out a meter and checked. He said it must not have been the starter. It looked like I was not getting enough amperage through the electric. So, I had to wait for an electrician to come out and another week went by.
When the electrician came, he said it had to do with one of the fuses in my box. He also said that I should replace this box because there could be a spark and it might cause a fire. I asked if he could do that and I was informed that AHS would not replace that box. So, I dealt with the electric company directly. They were called Fix It and they said they would do it. They gave me a price then they asked me for a $1,500 deposit. I told them that I was really hesitant to do that until somebody came out and actually started this work. But they said they always require a deposit and that I shouldn't worry about that because they were affiliated with AHS and they were reputable.
When we finished that conversation, I gave them the deposit over the phone on a credit card and they said they would send me a receipt within the next five minutes. They also said they'd call me later that day to schedule an appointment. But that was over a week ago. I waited to see the receipt and it never came through. I finally called the technician and he said he'd get in touch with them right away. So, they sent me a receipt by email but I haven't heard from them since. I'm going to call today to cancel and ask for a return of that deposit.
All in all, I don't think AHS has quality service people. I am in real estate and our company is affiliated with AHS. I am going to have a discussion about this at our next meeting because I have had other clients that I have persuaded to sign up with AHS when they purchased a property, and I have heard negative things from them time and again. And now, I've had my own direct experience, so I know what they're talking about.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

I was just surprised when I had to pay $1200 out of pocket for modifications that weren't covered by AHS because they don’t cover modifications. I tried getting ahold of American Home Shield, but I couldn't get ahold of anyone. I finally got ahold of someone and they said I could request a payout. AHS just wouldn’t tell me how much the plumber charged them and I felt he ripped me off.
With my first claim with AHS, the plumber dragged his feet. He also didn't submit the right paper. I was without hot water for an eternity. I was thinking I might wanna cancel this ‘cause I can't wait for stuff like that. But, I'm one of the few who has benefited from AHS.
Thank you for sharing your insights about your experiences with American Home Shield. We appreciate your honesty and are genuinely sorry for the discomfort you experienced during your first claim. Our team constantly works to improve the approval timeline and ensure clear communication at each step.
We’re glad to hear that the second service experience was quicker and the repairs were effective. However, we understand that the unexpected out-of-pocket costs for modifications can be very frustrating. Please know your feedback is essential.

I don't enjoy American Home Shield. I filed a claim for our dishwasher online, which seems to be the preferable way, and it's sufficient. However, the contractor came eight times, maybe more. It dragged on and on. I didn't know if it was AHS or Sears, or a combination of both. Sears would come out, do a diagnosis, order a part, come back to put the part in, next person. The third guy ended up being the one. We called each other cousins by the time, because my dogs got used to him. It was ridiculous how many times it went. They would replace a part, and the next one would come out. They would say, "No. Wasn't that." They replaced another part, and have to come out and put it in, and it wasn't that. We did this whole merry-go-round. They started replacing parts they already replaced.
At one point, the tech said, "They have now spent over $1,000 in parts." They could have replaced me a dishwasher that would reach into the sink and load the dishes itself for $1,000. It's insane how long it took. That seems to be sort of the pattern of my experience with American Home Shield. Everything we do, it just drags out. We had an electrical issue three years back that went on and on and on. We did six weeks with almost no electricity in our house. It was insane. I gave up and hired an electrician myself for $2,200.
I would not recommend AHS to a friend. I always call them to ask, "When does my contract expire? And is there a penalty if I cancel it early?" I've had them for years, but I'm ready at this point to figure out what else is out there because I paid too much. I pay $160 a month, and $100 for the first fee. With this dishwasher thing, I had to pay another $160 dollars. When they first started ordering parts, I could've just gone and bought a new dishwasher myself.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

We've had American Home Shield quite a while. We were with them then we left and went back to them again. This last go-around, we've been with them three years. When I need to submit a claim, I reach out by phone. Initially, I go to my little folder to find the number that American Home Shield tells us we can call, then I speak with someone and let them know what's going on. It's easy to speak to someone and they're not always bad, but this time, it was terrible. We had an issue with our unit, and they kept telling me that for whatever reason they couldn't find anyone.
One of the ladies I spoke with said that she would get approval for me to find someone and have that company invoice them. She came back and said she'd gotten the approval. However, they did not allow me to do that. “But you have to wait,” she said. It was a mess. A week and a half went by. My husband is sick, and it was hot. We were thinking about going to my daughter's until something was done. I threatened to drop American Home Shield, but I didn't. American Home Shield was going to send someone out after a week and they said that the gentleman was going to call me. He called and said he'd be out that afternoon, but he wasn't. The next time, my son called that gentleman and he said he had the flu. The day before, he told me he would be out that afternoon.
In speaking with my son, American Home Shield found Keeping It Cool Air Conditioning and the owner of the company spoke with my daughter and told her what time they would be out and had her take a picture of the unit. Overall, Keeping It Cool Air Conditioning was absolutely excellent and I cannot say anything negative about that company. They were very good in every way. On the other hand, I'm not giving excellence to American Home Shield. I would tell people, “I use them, but you may have problems with them, and you may not.”
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

Our washer stopped working, so we called American Home Shield over the phone and we got what we needed right away. For a senior citizen, it's better to do things via phone calls instead of trying to go on the apps. The third party technician that American Home Shield sent for us was a very decent person. He was honest. He said there was probably an electrical surge and the machine got confused. It was a very quick and simple fix. It was just a matter of resetting the washer. Now we know that if that happens again, we should do some research. We tried to research and it still didn't work, so the technician showed us another way. I will recommend American Home Shield, because they were recommended to us as well. I hope they will continue their good service.

This is the second time that American Home shield has stolen money from my account. I've never authorized them to ever go into my account and take out any money. They claim that my card was on file. It was on file when I purchased my home. They're full of it.
They were gonna send me a bill for $125 for a service call. Horrible experience with the claim. It had been leaking water under the sink for three months, they said they don't cover that. I had to pay $158 to Carl's Plumbing Service out my pocket, when supposedly whatever is broken, if it can't be fixed, American Home Shield would replace the part.
I had to leave this person in my home unattended while I go run to my bank and withdraw out money that I have for another bill just to pay them. They lied. They said that it had been a courtesy coming out, but I still had to pay for it.
They tell you, "We're not gonna keep your card on file. We just have to do it for this one time transaction." How do you steal a year and a half later, they still have my card on file. And then they went behind my back unauthorized and charged 21.57. I want that back. That's what I'm waiting on now from the agent named, Sabrina, the resolution specialist.
My email says, "Good morning, Sabrina. Have you had a chance to go over this and how I will receive my 21.57 back that was unauthorized? Also, I'm being threatened by America Home Shield for a service on December 20th from Carl's Plumbing.
I had a courtesy repair call set up from Sander back in August, your agent. I paid the repair out-of-pocket because American Home Shield claimed what needed to be fixed was not covered. I'm really overwhelmed with all of the inconsistencies with American Home Shield." She sent me back. "I will follow up with a update."
I'm sick of American Home Shield. They lie and they are not consistent with their business.

I have an open claim with American Home Shield for a water heater issue. When I opened the claim, the contractor that was automatically assigned by the system wasn't responding through phone calls so that I could schedule an appointment. I called American Home Shield and asked if I could change it to a different contractor because this one wasn't being responsive. They said that I had to wait 48 hours for them to call me. They did call a little after the end of that window, and they said that they didn't have anything available right away. So, I had to wait for their soonest availability. That was my first sour experience.
Once the contractor showed up, I had complaints because the person didn't do any troubleshooting. Just by looking at the water heater, he said that he couldn't touch it because it was out of code. And from there, they determined that a new water heater was needed. Because I was out of code, it wouldn't be covered. I had to make so many calls to American Home Shield because no one was following up with me. Every time I called, they would say it took a while to receive the report from the contractor. Then, once they received it, it was missing some information. So, American Home Shield reached out to the contractor to get that additional information. Time continued passing.
Every time I called, they would say, "Let me try to reach out to the vendor to see if I can get ahold of them." They couldn't get ahold of them. So that meant they were gonna follow up and involve the escalations team. Every time they involve someone new, it takes another 2 days. On numerous occasions, I told them, "I shouldn't need to be doing this much follow-up. If the vendor isn't responding, then you guys should be able to send out another contractor." They didn't want to do that because that's gonna cost them money.
In all of this, the claim has been going on close to a month. Today, I had another contractor come because I requested a second opinion, which I felt like I was being discouraged from getting. They told me that they can send a second opinion, but if the diagnosis is the same, I would be responsible for paying the deductible, which I agreed to. They did confirm a different diagnosis for the issue. Now, I'm at a point where I'm going to decide what to do to get it resolved because now I have sufficient information. All along, there was no sense of urgency from anyone. I was having to repeat myself all over again every time I talked to someone different because they never gave me any phone numbers. The supervisor that I talked to yesterday after waiting for two days to receive a call from, had already realized that I had requested a second opinion and she said that she would follow up with me tomorrow after the second contractor came by today.
I asked them if I can I have their phone number. They were unable to share any phone numbers or an email address. So, even though I have all the information with me, I have to wait until tomorrow for them to call me so that we can talk about the next steps. I still have to replace the water heater. Before, I was completely denied. And now, I'm not approved for the code modifications, but I am approved to get a new water heater. Overall, it's been a very poor experience. I've dealt with different home warranty companies. None are great. I've had my okay experiences with American Home Shield. If it's something small, it's usually a much smoother process. But when it's something big, it's really difficult to get things resolved.

When Aladdin's Plumbing came out, they were in my house for about two minutes, and that was because of the walk that they had to do to get to the upstairs bathroom. They walked into the bathroom, I showed them where there's a crack in my toilet, and the guy said American Home Shield doesn't cover cracks. He snapped a picture, and he walked out the door. There was nothing done. He told me if I wanted to replace the toilet, it would be a $700 charge. That was the end of the conversation, and he left.
I called American Home Shield and let them know what was said, and they said they could send somebody out again but if they come to the same conclusion as Aladdin's Plumbing, they were going to charge me $100 for sending out a different technician. A different plumbing company came out. They said, "Oh, this isn't from foul play. As a matter of fact, I've seen this in the past from the same exact company." They then sent the report to American Home Shield. American Home Shield declined doing the repair. So, they've declined a policy that I am covered for. Whenever we washed the clothes, there were two big issues with the washer. One was it was making a lot of noise and the second issue was that it was washing the clothes, but the last part of the clothes washing, which was rinsing, was not happening. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and the contractor they assigned, A GO Home Appliances, looked at the washer. They did a lot of troubleshooting on that and I was told that it would require a replacement. But then, I did not hear back from them for about a month.
Then, despite what I was told initially, the next thing they said was that they would repair it and the repair would require a lot of parts replacement, which doesn't make sense because the cost of the repair was much more than the cost of replacement. I don't know how it works behind the scene with AHS, but their process was not at all good for the customer like me in this case. We had to go back and forth a lot just to make a decision on what was going on, and we had to wait for more than 30 days for appliance repair which could be done in one day if I went directly to any of the vendor.
Back in 2022, I had an issue with a water heater and I also ended up waiting for about a month just to get the ignition switch replaced. The same thing happened with my dryer. After waiting for a month, they said they would fix it or they could give me cash in lieu of $89. Also, they have fixed my dryers at least four times over the last two years but they would not replace it which wouldn't cost more than $700. Aside from that, the contractors who come out always complain about how much they get from the warranty company. So maybe they get very less from the warranty company for the work that they do. Most of the contractors most likely wants to just give a bad experience so that customers will move away from the warranty and call them directly.
I've been paying the premium with AHS for more than 10 years and if I consider my previous house, I was there as a customer for more than seven years. So I've paid premiums for 15 years. But I've read about all these runarounds and I have gone through that myself a couple of times already. It's of no use. I escalated my issues as well but nothing happened. Finally, I decided that my time is worth more.

It took two separate service providers to fix our microwave. I have a feeling that whoever assigns people to these claims kind of triage them looking for the least expensive provider to get the job done, which I understand. But the first provider was not able to get the job done.
Both firms were very professional. But the second firm had a tremendous amount more experience and understood that they actually needed to get on the phone with the manufacturer of the appliance and talk to their tech people and troubleshoot the problem. Based on what the final result was, American Home Shield would have spent less by engaging the more experienced firm in the first instance because it was a failure of the motherboard.
The magnetron had failed. So the magnetron and related components were replaced. Perhaps they didn't need to be. Then the motherboard had to be replaced and it did take the second, more experienced firm a considerable amount of time to get on the phone with the manufacturer, wait for the manufacturer's rep to be available, and go through what seemed like a lengthy diagnosis process. But it solved the issue.
It was very easy to file the claim with American Home Shield. The service providers were both very professional. The second group seemed to be much more organized. They were a bigger firm. The fellow who came was consistently the one who came, was quite knowledgeable. The first company that was assigned was a solo appliance guy. He was very nice. He had some scheduling challenges along the way. He had to cancel a couple of times. In one instance, unfortunately, they were on the way to the job. And they got into some sort of car collision. Another time, he was overscheduled. So by the time he was supposed to come to us, other jobs during the day had absorbed all the available time, which I understand.
We appreciate your feedback about your recent experience with American Home Shield. We're pleased to hear that your claim process was convenient and the second service provider was able to resolve your microwave issue effectively. We understand the inconvenience of filing another claim while one is pending. Our goal is to consistently deliver efficient and professional service, and your insights help guide those enhancements. The first contractor that came out to fix my electrical panel wasn't good. They said that the panel was old and it needed to be replaced. They said that it could just be replaced. But when they went back to American Home Shield, they told American Home Shield it needed to be updated. When they left the house, they fixed it so that it would at least work, which I couldn't understand why you would leave it working if you're telling me I need to get an upgrade. So I had to go back and forth with Home Shield on that problem for about two and a half weeks.
Finally, American Home Shield sent out another company. When the tech was here, he said, "Yeah, you don't have to get an upgrade unless you want to get an upgrade. That would be up to you. But we can just fix the panel that's currently here. The only reason why you would get an upgrade is if you're deciding to add more things to the house that's not here, like if you wanna get a hot tub or if you wanna get a pool added." I'm not doing all that. American Home Shield covered the replacement and everything's working like it worked before we started having issues. I've been with American Home Shield for almost 20 years. I've never had a problem up until this issue right here with the first contractor.

On December 9th, I filed a claim to American Home Shield for a plumbing issue. There were two concerns that were listed. The plumber came and fixed one of them, and told me the other one would resolve itself in 30 minutes. And if not, I should message them back. I waited about an hour and a half and messaged them back. They said they'd be back out. Then it went silent. I did reach out again to ask when they would be back. I did not get a response. So, I contacted American Home Shield to let them know that I still had one of the issues going on and that they hadn't been back. They said they would send a message to the plumber and someone would be in contact with me. That did not occur.
I filed another claim with AHS to say, "Hey, this one still hasn't been resolved." They sent the same plumber back out to resolve it. They came out on a Monday and tried to resolve it. It was, unfortunately, more than they anticipated. They said that they would be back out before Thursday. They initially came on January 5th. They said they'd have somebody out before the 8th because they're on vacation on that Friday, and then nothing happened. They said I needed a mixer. It kept going back and forth. They were telling me that the home warranty company was not approving it. The home warranty company was saying that they didn't submit their documentation. On the 9th, after a lot of work from the 7th and 8th, they did send somebody else out who did finally resolve the issue. Since the repair, everything is fine.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield. We apologize for the delay and communication issues you encountered throughout your service call. My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for an oven that was not heating up properly. I called and spoke to a representative. It was just a long time to get to a representative, but it was okay. Because of scheduling conflicts, it took about a week and a half for a contractor to come out. It wasn't his fault or my fault. We just couldn't link up at a proper time. He was great, very knowledgeable, very fair, and very informative. He had the order a part. American Home Shield paid for the part. Then he scheduled a repair, and he came out and repaired it. As far as American Home Shield, I just wish they'd stopped raising the rate.

The pool was on, but it wasn't running. So, the electricity was still on. I took the lid off to empty the little trap and I heard it make a little noise. I hurried up and I shut it off. I put in an order to American Home Shield and they came out. It was a quick fix. The contractors have been very friendly, explained what they did, and I've never had a problem with any of the contractors that were sent out. American Home Shield is a good company. I wouldn't be with them for 15 years if I had any problems with them. I would tell people I know to go for it.
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with American Home Shield. We're delighted to hear that the claim process was straightforward for you and our contractors met your expectations with efficiency. The dishwasher I had stopped working. We called American Home Shield, and they sent out a local repairman, and he looked at it and determined that it needed to be replaced. The control panel in the dishwasher had broken. American Home Shield sent over a list of comparable replacements to choose from. We chose the GE model. Then, when that dishwasher was delivered, and they were set to install it, those people were not able to do it because of the fixture that connected the dishwasher to the water line. I have an old fixture, and they couldn't do the install then. So, I was informed that I had to hire a plumber to update my fixture. I hired a plumber to allow the installation to occur. And then, that was when Mary's Appliance Service got contracted to do the install.
We've been protected with American Home Shield since we bought our house. It's been 10 years. We just wanted to have it for peace of mind. I'm satisfied with the service. Sometimes, things go a little bit slower because you're working with the warranty company to deal with the contractors, and you have to go through their people. Typically, it takes a week to get a claim started and completed. The latest claim took a bit longer because there was some more back and forth. As far as claims submission, it is easy. You can submit claims online, and they handle most of the paperwork side of it. Sometimes if I need to speak to someone, I've had trouble getting the right department. I'll call in and have to get transferred a few times to find the right place, but that's about it. I'd recommend AHS as a home warranty company. They're reliable.
Thank you for sharing your experience and trusting American Home Shield for home warranty needs over the years. We appreciate your detailed feedback regarding the repair process for your dishwasher. While we're pleased to hear that overall, our service meets your expectations and is convenient to use, we regret the unforeseen challenge during installation that required additional arrangements with a plumber.
We understand that coordinating with contractors sometimes results in delays. If you encounter this situation again or have difficulty reaching the correct department, please visit our website or contact us, and we'll be happy to provide further assistance.
We're grateful for your recommendation and your continued support. Please feel free to reach out if there is anything else we can do for you.

One of the zone valves on my boiler was stuck open, so it was continuously heating. I called American Home Shield to have someone out to see if they were going to be able to replace that part. I used the American Home Shield app and it was all right. Then, I was given information on the company they assigned and when they were supposed to be there. I was also sent a GPS locator thing, but that didn't work because it said that the tech was in one spot and he was coming from a different spot. He even said it never works.
For my boiler, he had to order a replacement part and install it. The service was fine, but I got two no call, no shows for the appointment. Then, the tech was six hours late on the third day and he had the wrong part ordered. So, I had to wait another set of many days for the next appointment. He tech was also late to that appointment before he was able to fix the issue.
Also, I've been trying to get ahold of American Home Shield's contractor relations department and I've had to call seven times. I've been told that someone would be in contact in 24 hours. Then I was told that someone would be in contact in 48 hours. But at that point, I submitted that first complaint two and a half weeks ago. All in all, the sheer amount of time I had to wait for either American Home Shield or the contractor to get back to me was unreal. But the video call I had with the expert was good and this was before they decided to send out a contractor. The guy knew what he was talking about, and we figured out that it was nothing I could do and it wasn't a simple fix. But everything else about the experience was not so good. I would tell others not to purchase a policy with American Home Shield.

I'm in the middle of a plumbing claim right now and the company that I got is not the greatest. But it’s not American Home Shield's fault since they authorized everything. The plumber, Jerome, couldn't get back on the list to come back out to install the needed equipment. So now, I have to call the plumber and set up a whole new appointment. But they already have the equipment.
One time, I had to request another company to come out, because the first one that came out was trying to rip off both American Home Shield and me. So, American Home Shield sent out another company for them to give an estimate and look at everything, which is something that I like about them. Other than that, they raised my monthly payment and they didn't tell me. But they have given me such great service and replaced so many things. So, I am warranted an increase. But they should have at least told me about it. The increase was across the board because my father got it as well. And since they didn't call, he dropped them and went to another company.
Despite that, I have my American Home Shield warranty for three years and I have also recommended two friends that got it. Whenever I have a claim, I call them on the phone. They have all these automated prompts and I choose whether I want to speak to a representative if I've got something going on, or if I'm going to file a new claim. Then they ask you what it is and they charge you $125 on the credit card that they have on file. So far, the American Home Shield reps I talked to were all pretty good.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We appreciate your understanding and patience during the challenges with the service provider's schedule and are pleased to hear that you found value in the coverage we provide. We recognize the importance of clear communication regarding any changes to your premium and will work harder to ensure this notice reaches our valued customers timely. The toilet wouldn't stop running. I called American Home Shield and their claims process was pretty easy. Then I got a text message that they assigned a tech from iPlumb to come out. They also told me the driver's name and that he should be there. And I had a little track on my phone telling me where he was at. He was pretty good and very informative. He took one look at the toilet and knew exactly how many gallons of water it took. We're going to replace our toilets, so he told us to stick with a couple of models because they're good and he told me to pick American Standard or Glacier Bay. He said toilets were built to last; it's the internal parts that aren't.
Overall, American Home Shield has been great. I originally went with them because I was getting emails, and it said things that they do and cover. I also saw that they had a special every year on air conditioners where the techs come out and do an inspection on it, and I liked that. A lot of people don't like to pay the service charge and I understand that because someone said I paid 125 for just the plumbing. But I don't know how to do this stuff, so I don't mind.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us! We're pleased to hear that the claim process was easy and that the contractor from iPlumb LLC was both prompt and knowledgeable. I recently submitted a claim online and it was Christmas time, so with the holidays, it took two weeks before the contractor showed up. He tested the oven and it was working. I told him our propane tank was also leaking outside and that I wasn't sure if the issue was due ro the oven or the propane tank or both. But it tested fine. It's a great solution for homeowners. They are responsible all the time and have providers. Right now, it's a more automated process and I like that. The price is debatable though. It’s expensive but these days, everything is. AHS charges more than the other ones just because the service is better and sometimes paying a little bit more gives you peace of mind. There are other companies on the market that are cheaper but AHS’ service is way better. I will be recommending them.

They do their best to deny or make an excuse not to cover your claim. I had an issue with my garage door that wouldn't close because the plastic part that pulls the chain broke. According to the report from the technician this is due to normal wear and tear and because the part is no longer available a replacement garage door opener is needed. But since the laws in our city has changed and requires a garage door opener with a battery backup, this is considered an upgrade and automatically denied. I don't see the point of having service with them if this is what they will do if I file any other claim. Just save your $50 a month and use that whenever you need it for repairs and save yourself the frustration of having to deal with a company that's only good with getting your money. No service whatsoever.
Don,
Thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. We regret that your garage door opener claim was not honored as you had hoped due to specific upgrade requirements. This situation appears frustrating given its impact on the use of your door, and the resulting inconvenience is not the experience we endeavor to provide in managing claims and be a valuable service. The first time that NextGen Appliances came out, they replaced the ice maker. But it still didn't work. So the tech had to order another one. When he finally came out the second time, they determined it was not the ice maker. It was the water supply or the water pressure so they have to replace a valve. So, right now, we're waiting for that part to come. The claim has been going on for about two weeks. In the past, I've had claims and American Home Shield was always fine. So I can't blame this ice maker delay on them. It's probably more a problem with the unit itself.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're glad to hear the initial claim process was straightforward and have noted the exceptional awareness you demonstrated in diagnosing the water supply issue. The techs from Emergency Plumbing were looking for a leak behind a drywall in my garage and they tore off a piece of drywall. They said they couldn't find it, that I would have to get a contractor, and that it wasn't covered by American Home Shield. So, they left. I called American Home Shield to confirm and they said if Emergency Plumbing said that we needed a contractor to expose where the leak was, that was our responsibility. So, I hired a contractor. He came out, cut the drywall about 5 inches past where Emergency Plumbing had, and the leak was right there. He said it was not behind the firewall at all and that it was clearly exposed. He then asked if I wanted want him to fix since he was there because he was going to charge me for the visit anyhow. So, I told him to go ahead.
It took him a total of about 20 minutes to find the leak and to fix it. And I paid him $250. I then called American Home Shield and told them what happened. I asked them to refund the $250 and that it was the incompetence of Emergency Plumbing that caused the problem, but they wouldn't cover the 250. So, I was out of pocket 250.
I have American Home Shield for over 20 years and I've had other issues over the years, but not serious. For example, I have five Porcher toilets in my house, which is the brand that was bought by American Standard. I had a problem with one of the toilets and I called American Home Shield. They refused to fix it because they said parts weren't available for it. So, I paid for the service call and didn't get anything fixed. Then, I did a little search on Google and it was easy to find the parts I needed. I found the parts and had a local plumber fix it. But I was paying American Home Shield for covering my plumbing and knowing that they're never going to fix any of my toilets did not sit well with me.
I had a similar situation when I had two light switches that weren't working. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out. I paid for a visit and they told me it was a Lutron system that they don't cover. Therefore, in my house, they don't cover my light switches and toilets, but I'm still paying them a ton of money. So, I wasn't happy about that. On the other hand, they repaired my Sub-Zero refrigerator, which I know would have been expensive to do on my own. They've also replaced the water heater in my pool and my dishwasher over the years. So, they've done some good things, that's why I've stayed with them. Their online service is also really good.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with American Home Shield over the years. We appreciate your loyalty and thorough feedback, which is vital for us to continually improve our service. We apologize for any frustrations caused by the delayed leak identification and the subsequent costs associated. It's disheartening to hear that a satisfactory resolution wasn’t initially reached, and your feedback on claimed processes will help address this issue moving forward.

I had submitted a request for repair on January 1st for my dryer, which was not heating properly and the timer didn't seem to work. Initially, American Home Shield dispatched a company who would only text message me. I told them they could just call me. They said they do virtual diagnosis on a gas dryer. I didn't want a virtual diagnosis. It's a gas dryer. How would they virtually diagnose how much heat is actually being put out. I did not want to take it apart myself over the phone. I was supposed to do these things on my dryer that, apparently, what I hired them for to do. I called American Home Shield and told them I was not happy with the company that wanted to do a virtual diagnosis on my gas dryer. So, they dispatched Express Appliance.
Express Appliance sent me a text message saying they needed to do a pre-screen. So, I immediately called the number. I got a message saying, “Stand by your dryer and call us back in 30 minutes,” because they wanted to probably do a similar thing. So, I kept trying to call back. I'm not gonna stand at home by my dryer all day long waiting for them to answer. As soon as I got the text message, I called. It's not like it was an hour late. I told them they sent me a text message to call which I called immediately, and then they were not answering.
I then chose the option for the scheduling. They said they could schedule for them to come out on Wednesday, the 7th. They sent him out. They initially gave me a scheduled time between 8:00 and 12:00. Then the night before, they changed it to between 11:00 and 3:00. So, I had to wait around all day. He showed up at around 1:30. He took a little piece off the front and he said it was working. It was just clicking on and off. I told him it was not heating. I also asked him about a noise that was coming from the back. He said it was the timer. I've had this dryer for 30 years. That is not the timer. I know what the timer sounds like. He was a little rude to me.
I asked him what needed to be done. He said I needed a new timer. He will order the parts and when I receive the parts, I had to call them and they'll schedule to come out. So, apparently, the parts were coming directly to me. I felt like I wasted my entire day for him to come out, lie on the floor in front of my dryer, look through a peephole and tell me what I already knew was wrong with it. He didn't do anything to the dryer. I just receive the parts today and they were able to schedule me for tomorrow. So, I'm hoping that they can repair this dryer, but that's not what I expect.
I had a washing machine go down and AHS sent the Whirlpool guy for it. He came in, looked at it and said he had to order parts. They ordered the parts that came to them, and they said, “When we receive the parts, we'll call you to reschedule for the repair.” I just thought it was strange that the other company was gonna order parts and send them to me. They didn't give me any tracking information. They didn't tell me when I could expect to get the parts, and didn't do anything more than I already knew was wrong with my dryer. I was not happy.
I've had American Home Shield for 20 some years. I don't know how much money I have given them over the 20 years. It has helped in the past when I had my furnace go out in the middle of winter and my air conditioning. I've just not been happy lately. The fees keep going up. The monthly charge keeps going up. And I feel like it's a struggle every time I make a claim for a repair. I'm not happy with the services I have been receiving from American Home Shield. After this repair, I'm gonna drop my contract after 20 some years, and I'd tell others to look for another home insurance warranty company.
Initially, I had this contract when I bought my house as a single woman with older appliances. The monthly fee was not expensive nor was the service fee. I also felt at that time, they would dispatch companies quicker and I would have the repairs done within a reasonable time. I feel like now I'm just spending $75 a month and a $100 service fee to still have a nonworking dryer two weeks later. I feel like it's not worth the price anymore.
Hello Susan ,

The plumber said there was a leak in the hot water and he needed to put a new faucet on it. That fixed the problem. He was very thorough and noticed some other things as well. He thought there was some water damage underneath our kitchen sink. So, he said that he thought that there could be some other problems underneath. We had to test for mold underneath the sink and it tested positive for asbestos. It was really good that the plumber noticed the water underneath. If he hadn't found the problem, I would have never known about all of this.

American Home Shield's app works well, but the service is not as quick as it used to be. Back in the day, they had the ability to get things done quicker. Now, there's a bit of delay in the approval process, and to me, expeditious approaches are everything. Everything else is good so far. When my toilet was making leaking noises, I submitted a service request through the app, which was easy. Sewer Medic then came out and they were great. They found an issue with the internal workings of the toilet. The pressurized dry tank was leaking, and they replaced it. Everything's been good since.

Besides that, the plumber, Luke, was super.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a couple of leakages I had with some faucets. This plumbing claim wasn't too bad. It took about three days to be completed. That's not typical. Usually, it takes longer than that. In general, American Home Shield has been terrible. Sometimes, when you put in a claim, I have to follow up. With the dishwasher situation, the person they assigned didn't call me. I had to call the person and follow up. Once the person followed up, they said they had a part, but they didn't have the part. AHS was supposed to follow up with me, rather the one sending me email, asking me the status of the claim when they're supposed to be communicating with the technician on the back end. I was the one that had to take the lead and follow up. They didn't even have an idea what was going on. So, overall, it hasn't been a good experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that the response time and resolution of your plumbing issue through our service was efficient. American Home Shield sent a company based in Florida, even though I'm in Wisconsin. I was very unhappy with the service I got. The service company took six days to get out here. They didn't call until the third day, and then they gave me a block of time of between 12:00 and 4:00. They finally showed up about 5:30, and they didn't even call to let me know that they were gonna be late. They said their machine was too small and didn't fix the problem. They were here for about 10 minutes or so. My grandson was down in the basement while they were there, and he said they mostly were just talking. When I called AHS, they said it wasn't covered because it went out to the street. So, I had to hire a plumber myself and pay money for that on top of the 125 I paid AHS for nothing to be done.

I had an electrical issue that somebody worked on, and everything went fine with that claim. There was only one particular situation with a plumber where I had a garbage disposal replaced, but originally, the technician that came out said that he would have to deny the claim even though, apparently, technicians don't have the power to deny anything. His reasoning was that he saw some surface rust in the garbage disposal, which was odd. Then he offered to replace the garbage disposal for 360 bucks or so, but I ended up talking to American Home Shield and they did tell me that that wasn't correct protocol and that he should have never done that. AHS actually covered it, because within the contract, rust would be normal wear and tear.

Rotor Drain Cleaning did something very simple for us that we did not know was the problem. A toilet in one of our guest bathrooms was not flushing, and because it's a spare bathroom, I go in every couple of weeks just to flush. I noticed the last time I flushed it that it had a hollow sound like there was no water in it. When I went back in to flush it the next time, it wouldn't flush. There was no water coming in. When the representative from the plumbing company came, he found that the water had been turned off. My husband and I had not done it. Maybe one of us bumped up against it or maybe the last time I cleaned it, I brushed up against it, but it was very simple. The representative was very professional and nice.
As far as American Home Shield, the price is a little high, but you get what you pay for. They have resolved the issues when I placed the call. I would recommend them. For the most part, they responded quickly. With this latest service call, they exceeded the 48-hour turnaround time. It was over the holiday which might be the reason, but I had to place a second request because no one had responded. So, I was dissatisfied with that but once a gentleman from the plumbing company responded, the solution was very quick.

We had a leak on the main water supply to the house where the shutoff valve is. I called AHS to submit a claim and calling it in was easy. It was hard to get somebody out. But some of that had to do with the timing. It was right after Christmas. A lot of companies weren't working and we had to wait several days. At least it wasn't flooding the house, but it was a constant leak.
The first technician they sent out didn't act like he wanted to do the repair. They sent him toward the end of the day and he made an excuse and left. I had to call their office and they apologized. They said they would send somebody else out the next morning. The next morning, I didn't hear from anybody. I called their office again and she said, “We're having a meeting. And as soon as the meeting's over, we'll send somebody out." I told her that the guy didn't act like he wanted to work, that he acted like he just wanted to go home. She said, "I'm gonna send somebody different." She sent out a tech the next day, but it was later in the day. But he got it fixed and it was fine.

My husband had turned our heater on, and it smelled like there was something burning. He went downstairs to check the furnace, and everything was turned on, but it wasn't blowing heat into the house. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online through my computer. They sent me the Eagle tech's information. It was on a Sunday night that I had done it, and he called first thing the next morning. He was very quick and really good. I loved him. When he came, he checked it and he said that our motor had gone out to blow it. He ran out and got us parts because that night, it was supposed to get really cold. He came back, and he fixed us up. That claim went very well.
I've never really had a problem with American Home Shield. There have been issues before, not with AHS, but somebody didn't want to pay something and I called AHS, and they worked on the phone with me. AHS is wonderful. I used to have First American Home, and I didn't like them, and I switched to AHS, and we haven't had a problem since then. The only thing that is a little bit hard is sometimes their customer service is overseas at call centers, and not everybody who answers the phone is really good in English. I had a water heater that needed replacing. I made a claim with American Home Shield and when the plumber came in, he said it would cost me an additional 750. I also had a leak in the wall, and when we contacted American Home Shield through their website, they said they could get somebody out in two days. You'd think that they would realize you got a leak in the wall and that it was an emergency. But they informed us who the plumber was, so I called them and told them our issue. The tech came out the next day and in the meantime, we had to turn the water off to the house.
The guy who repaired the leak did a great job and he fixed it right away that night. He didn't get here until 6 o'clock with traffic and stuff here in California, but he did a fantastic job. Other than that, American Home Shield was supposed to schedule somebody to come back and patch the walls. That never happened and I ended up doing it myself. When I put in a service request with AHS, they originally quoted me out three weeks before the techs could come. But then they called me back a few days later with an opening. We took advantage of that. The first time that the tech came out, he said what was wrong with it was a belt and he replaced the belt. The next day we used the dryer, it was still broken. We had to wait a couple of weeks before they could come out a second time.
The second time they came out, it was the same service person. He diagnosed the problem and said it was the pulley. He had to get permission from AHS to do that and if AHS gave him permission, then it would take time for the part to come in. Then they'd have to reschedule. We waited another several weeks, before the part came in.
The same person came out for a third time. He replaced the pulley. When he turned on the dryer, the drum was working again, which was the original problem. But now the dryer is making a really loud grinding noise. We looked at him and he lifted up his shoulders like a shrug and lifted up his hands like “I don't know.” We said, “There's something clearly wrong here.” He said, “This is just a noise. And American Home Shield doesn't fix noises.” Which it turns out to be true. AHS wouldn't make them fix it. We ultimately bought a new dryer. But the one good thing that came out of it is, American Home Shield gave me a credit for the service call.

But I know where I live, a 15-year-old hot water heater needs to be replaced. I also indicated that I had a leaky pipe. I've got a shutoff valve that's leaking. He said, "You said that was on the hot water heater." I said, “No. I just said I had a leaky pipe.” He couldn't say exactly what the issue was. American Home Shield assigned someone to fix my dryer. I provided the dryer's information and company, and the technician was supposed to detect the issue and fix it. The person who arrived was so rude. He came a little late and I was taking a bath at that time, thinking that the technician may not arrive. My wife was there, and she asked him to wait for 5 minutes so that by that time, I can come out and explain the problem. However, he was not ready to wait. That was okay. I went ahead without taking a bath, came out and started explaining the problem, but he did not even look into the dryer. He just assumed some issue and said that he doesn't have the parts for that particular dryer. He went back.
On the way back, he explained that there was some problem with the pulley in the dryer. I asked him, “Okay. There could be a problem with the pulley or the belt itself.” I asked him to bring all the parts next time whenever he comes so that he can fix all the parts at once. He rudely said that he will not bring all the parts. After that, I called American Home Shield and said “The detection has not happened yet.” I asked for a refund because the first $125 is supposed to be for the detection, and then the service charge, but the person did not even spend 10 minutes in my home to find the issue.
When I called American Home Shield's customer care, I had a bad experience there as well. I asked them to escalate the issue because this was not the right thing to do for an insurance company. The rep said that he cannot escalate it further, so I asked him if he was the CEO of the company. There is always a way to escalate an issue until it goes to the highest level of management. The customer care rep was not that rude, but he did not do the work I asked. After that, I hung up. What else I can do? I will probably cancel the plan in a few days.

I had a leak under our sink, and American Home Shield's online request for service doesn't have anything like that except “Pipes” or “The faucet.” So, I incorrectly chose the faucet because it's the line that goes to the faucet. When the man came out and looked, he said it was the valves and they probably need to replace them. So, he called American Home Shield and they said it was not on the service request, so the man couldn't touch it. He could do nothing, and it cost me $125 for the service call even though they wouldn't let him do anything. So, I was displeased.
I have not spoken to AHS yet because I haven't had time to call them. Plus the last time I tried to call them, I spent an hour and a half on hold, so I haven't really wanted to waste the time because it would just irritate me. The man wasn't allowed to touch it, but he was allowed to stand there and tell me how to at least keep it from drowning the bottom of my sink so it's not a problem. It will become a problem again, and then I'll have to figure out how to word it so that American Home Shield will let them come in and replace the valves.
I have been with AHS for years and my experience has been fairly well. It's just their online request for service has such limited selection criteria, and it doesn't have a box in there that you can type in your problem and clarify what the issue is. If they have that, it would make everything so much easier. They could fix that easily by putting a dialogue box there.

I'm getting ready to cancel American Home Shield because I don't get anything out of it. I placed my claim online for my leaking hot water heater. The contractor wanted to do a video review of the hot water heater which seemed they didn't care about coming out and looking at it. They wanted to do the shortest thing as possible and probably not spend the money to have someone come out and look at it. I turned the phone around and showed them the hot water heater. American Home Shield said it was wear and tear, but the way their contract reads is not how they proceeded with my claim. They said I would end up owing another $1,925 for it on top of the hot water heater. I have a new tank, but I went with someone else.
I’m truly sorry to hear about the frustration you’ve experienced with your recent American Home Shield service. I understand how upsetting and inconvenient this situation can be, and you deserve to have it handled with care. I’d be more than happy to speak with you directly so we can work together toward a resolution.

I am so disappointed with American Home Shield. I cannot recommend them to anyone. The refrigerator stopped working and we reported that on November 10th. It is still not fixed. This is a 33-year-old refrigerator that American Home Shield sent the repairman out multiple times, and each time, he changes a part and discovers another part needs to be changed. I do not trust this repairman. I've asked for a different repair company to come in. I will not let the repairman back in my house. He's destructive.
AHS is so rigid in the fact that they say that their contractors are all great and that this is just the process that they have to go through and they cannot do anything to replace the refrigerator until it is deemed unrepairable by the repair company. Tthe repair company has no reason to disqualify the refrigerator from repairs. They will keep doing repairs time and time again because that's what they get paid from AHS for. They will repair this refrigerator until our contract runs out. They will not offer a replacement.

American Home Shield was recommended to me by a friend. Every issue I've had has been fixed. But I have to jump through hoops to get it done the right way. The contractor came out because my water heater was leaking. However, the tech did no diagnosis. He came, looked at it, but didn't inspect the water heater. He looked at all the components around it to point out all the things he would have to replace. He suggested maybe it's a bad pressure regulator valve. He put a gauge on my hose bibb outside. The pressure was 65, which is well within accessible range. But he came in and told me he had to replace that valve, too, and he would call AHS and let me know what they said.
He went out to his van and talked to them for 20 minutes. He came back and said AHS will not cover me because it was determined that it was high-water pressure going to the water heater. He told me that he could do it for 3,400 bucks. I said, "Nope" because I didn't believe that he did any troubleshooting. I called AHS and told them I wanted a second opinion.
AHS told me that if the report came back the same as EMET, I'd be charged another service fee. So, I requested the report. They said I'd have it in 24 hours. 24 hours went by. I called again. I was told that the request was never put in. But now that was put in and it happened in 24 hours. I still have not received the report. It has been about a week. I still haven't received the report that I was told twice I would have. The reps are very polite when I call them, but they're not effective. I've been unhappy with it. The second opinion people came out, came up with a different diagnosis, and replaced it yesterday. I'm good to go.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We regret to hear about the inconvenience you experienced with the handling of your water heater issue. It's concerning that the diagnosis and communication did not meet your expectations; we'll certainly look into this matter further.
We strive for excellence and value your loyalty over the past years. Updated on 06/30/2026: I spent three months between November to February getting my AC unit fixed. It was a nightmare process. Now, only a couple of months later my unit isn't working again, and the technician sent to evaluate the problem informed me the original work is bad and needs to be redone. They were able to tell me the previous company (Fletcher Heating and Air) was a bad company, and they are always fixing their mistakes. I did not tell the new technician the name of the original company - he just knew. He stated their company has told American Home Shield this is a problem. Now American Home Shield will not respond to my attempts at contact to get this resolved.
Original Review: I have a warranty with American Home Shield. My heating (AC) went out the week before Thanksgiving. I immediately filed a complaint, and a service company was dispatched within 24 hours and identified the problem. Since then, there have been continual excuses from the service technician at Fletcher Heating and Air and American Home Shield on why they cannot get my unit fixed, even though it falls within the scope of the warranty and is an approved claim. It is now January 2026, and my unit is still not fixed, with no date on when they will fix it. I have called daily and am continually told someone will call me from escalation, but I repeatedly do not receive these calls.
At this point, American Home Shield is in breach of contract, and I will seek ways to resolve this through third parties. I have had this warranty for two years with no claims, and they cannot fix this claim, which is ridiculous and not the service they sell. At this point, it feels like a scam. My electric bill was $200 in December because I had to run auxiliary heat to ensure my pipes did not freeze in 20-degree weather, on top of the fact that I had paid the service fee.
Previous information documented January 5, 2026. Update below from January 15, 2026. I have now gotten an estimate for the repair, requesting that I pay almost $800. However, the online estimate provided no details as to what is covered, what is not covered, or an itemized list of charges. I called their customer service center to ask for this information. They began explaining, but when I tried to ask why this wasn't covered under my warranty and pointed out sections that would mean these charges were covered, they just kept repeating that there was a limit that was not written in the contract. I asked them to please send me an itemized list of charges, which they informed me they cannot provide in writing. I'm sorry, I will not pay anyone $800 if they cannot tell me exactly what I am paying for. I also asked if I could speak to the authorization department to get a clearer picture of this information, but they told me I could not.
Yesterday, I was told that my complaint had been escalated to the highest level of complaint, and because the complaint was so high up, I couldn't get any information because customer service has no way to get me in touch with that team, and "they are so high up they don't speak to customers." I am sorry, but if you are in a business with customers, at no point should you be too good to speak to those paying for your service. I was also informed that in emails between the contracted dispatcher and AHS, they wouldn't talk to me because I had submitted a BBB complaint.
It is extremely inappropriate that at this point, I cannot speak to someone in the United States or Memphis who can actually talk to me about this issue. The only way I can speak to someone on the phone is to call customer service, which is being handled overseas, and they do not have access to transfer calls to the main office in Memphis for a real resolution. I do not feel that asking for a phone call from someone who is making coverage decisions to explain to me the decision process and provide me with an itemized list of charges being covered and not covered is too much to ask.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience, and I greatly appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. I'm sorry to hear about the frustrations and confusion you've faced throughout your claim process. The situations you've outlined with the services we've provided, especially regarding the outstanding repairs and related communications, are certainly not the standards we strive for.
Again, I deeply apologize for the distress caused and we are committed to rectifying this situation for you swiftly.

This is the second claim I've made with American Home Shield in five years. I utilize whatever is most convenient in submitting my claim. I put it online, but I've called before. We had some plumbing issue. At first, the contractor said, "We can't do much about this because there were fears that the pipes would break." I submitted that I was unhappy with what the service was, especially for what I'm paying for AHS. They came back later, were able to pull the toilet off, and left me some extra wax rings. They tried their best to figure out what the issue was. The coverage only covers what's in the house or underneath the surrounding of the foundation. The issue never got resolved, but they did their best.
I always argue what I get for what I pay for. There's significant value for large appliance ends or fails or something that needs to be replaced, but there are many restrictions on all the other things that AHS claim they cover that we're at the point of questioning if it's valuable for us. Evaluate and know well what's covered, and decide if it's worth your money.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.

We had AHS for years because canceling was just a hassle. We used them two times. The first time for a refrigerator repair where they sent the lowest rated repair company who ruined the back of our refrigerator and it still didn’t work correctly. I contacted AHS who said they don’t guarantee the work and to contact the company. I contacted the company who basically told me to get lost. I then had to get LG involved to fix it properly. It has never worked the same. Then I was going to get an AC tune up and the company showed up an hour a half after the 8 hour time window and we had left and still charged us the service call and company reported they were here.
I tried to use them a third time for a plumber but again they were trying to send out the bottom of a barrel plumber who I wouldn’t even want in my house. I called them and they wouldn’t change plumbers. Then when I finally got around to canceling them on 1/7/26 I was on the phone for 20 minutes ensuring a non stop high pitch sales tactic where I kept on asking them to just cancel and they told they couldn’t. I had to listen. I received an email of cancelation and they charged me again today. Horrible company. Run just run!

I did the initial claim for my fridge three months ago and it's still not fixed. I had good interactions with the contractor in the beginning but it got sour because they have come up to my house about seven to eight times, and they still have not been able to fix the fridge. They keep telling me that it's fixable, but it really isn't. Because they've tried sending their senior people and they couldn't fix it. They sent the same parts over and over again. Even though the parts weren't working the first time, they ordered the same parts again and again.
I told them to, "Please stop ordering the same parts. The fridge is not working. You guys have sent out all these people. Can you please just tell the American Home Shield the truth that you can't fix it?" But they refused to. They refused to say that it's irreplaceable or it can't be replaced. Their management refused to call me back. They gave me an email to email management. I've emailed them three times and they haven't responded once.
I've had two contractors come out from American Home Shield. The first one said they couldn't fix it. So, they sent out the second one. The second one is the one that is pretty much billing American Home Shield, getting all the money for the parts and for coming out there. They refuse to admit that they can't fix it even though they've been out eight times to my house to get it fixed.
American Home Shield doesn't call back. They repeat the same thing. They don't really review anything. I've been begging and pleading. I've been calling every week for three months to try to get this fixed and get it replaced, and they refuse to. I keep telling them, "This contractor, they are just milking you for money. They're lying. They cannot fix the fridge. Can you please replace it?" They just said, "Oh, we can't until we get an approval from the contractor." I told them, "But the contractor is not gonna give it to you because they just wanna keep billing you. They've been out. They can't fix it. They've sent their senior people. It's not fixable. And I've been without a fridge for over three months now." They didn't care. They kept saying, "Oh, well, we'll escalate it." But nothing ever got escalated. I never spoke to management. I haven't spoken to anybody and nobody calls me back.
American Home Shield also told me that in my contract for the fridge, there's a limit of only $2,000. They said that out of the $2,000 that the other company has used pretty much all the money for them coming out the eight times. All that is left is $495. So, they're telling me that all I can get is 495 to replace my fridge, which obviously is not gonna replace the fridge. I even told them, "That doesn't make any sense. If you guys didn't fix it, you're supposed to replace it." They said, "Oh, yeah. But we only have 495 left." I told them that was not my fault. I called them every week, several times in a week, and I pleaded and I said, "Please stop sending the contractors. They cannot fix it. I just need you to replace it." But their response to me was, no, they need to send the people again because they have to be the ones to determine that it can't be fixed. I have two small children and no working fridge in the house.
I understand your frustration regarding your most recent American Home Shield service experience. I would be glad to speak with you to further assist in a resolution.
