Cubellis came for our bathtub drain and I was very satisfied with them. But I was very disappointed with the previous instance when I used American Home Shield. I filed a claim for an electrical problem and for three weeks, nobody contacted me. So I had to hire somebody on my own. I reported it to AHS and they refunded my service fee.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and for your candid feedback. We're pleased to hear that your recent interaction with Cubellis Plumbing was satisfactory and that setting up an appointment through our online system was smooth.
However, I sincerely apologize for the delay you encountered in receiving feedback on your electrical issue. We understand the importance of prompt communication and accountability.
I'm glad that the service fee for this inconvenience was refunded, but I acknowledge your hesitation about our reliability. We value input like yours. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything further we can help you with. Your support and patience mean a great deal to us.

AHS is very easy to work with. I had planned on canceling and going with someone else, but I've decided to stay with them. I've had a lot of stuff fail on me at one time. The heating and air gentleman was fine. He was great and I haven't had any issues at all since he's been here.
My recent claim was for a plumber that put in a double spigot underneath my kitchen sink–one to turn off my dishwasher, the hot water to it, and the other to turn off the hot water to my kitchen sink. He was really nice and helpful and made sure everything was working fine before he left. He had to turn the water off out by the street because the spigot in the house that turns the water off in the house is broken and he couldn't get to it. He had to go outside underneath the leaves and the snow to find the place to turn the water off outside. He did a wonderful job.
However there was a miscommunication as I talked to two different people. They were giving me a coupon for a free visit from someone to come out and look at an appliance if I needed it within 30 days of canceling my policy, which I did. I needed someone to come out and check my furnace. Then the other day, American Home Shield took $125 out of my checking account so I called them and they said that I couldn't use the coupon at that time because it was not submitted to a supervisor before the furnace guy came out. That was not true. I talked to the second lady that I spoke with and she put me on hold for quite some time and attached a coupon to my order, and took it to a supervisor to have it approved. She told me everything would be fine.
I was aggravated at that point, but my husband called. We were assured that we had a coupon for a free visit. No one ever called, showed up, or made the appointment when my husband called. I was in the hospital at the time so nothing was ever done at that point. I called when I got home from the hospital that next Monday, and that's when the girl told me that the coupon had been sent over to a supervisor and had been signed off, and that my furnace guy would be free.
I had the money taken out of my account. I called them and they said that it was not pre-approved which is why I had to pay for it. They went on and gave me another free coupon for another visit should I need one. It turned out my dryer has gone out that day so I had to call them about my dryer and also my ice maker. For the most part, I have no issues at all with American Home Shield except for the coupon for the furnace guy.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're delighted to hear about the excellent work completed under your kitchen sink and your satisfaction with our contractors. While we apologize for the initial confusion regarding your furnace service visit coupon, we're glad it was timely resolved to your satisfaction. Your recommendation and kind words about our responsive service and problem resolution are highly appreciated. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance, and thank you once again for choosing American Home Shield.

We don't get the service quickly as possible. There was something wrong with the water heater so we started the claim. It took four days for us to get the service guy come in and by the time that the repair was done, we were without hot water for two days, during the cold season.
First time we realized that the water was overflowing, the garage was getting wet. We tried to close a tap to stop water from coming in but then we realized that it's the water that's coming inside the house. We couldn't find a tap to close it. The day that we realized that water was leaking, we had hot water. The next day, we realized that the water temperature was not that good so we thought something was wrong with the boiler. The guy who came out was really good. I had to explain to him what happened. He asked me to open a hot water tap at home and he realized that there's no hot water. Over half an hour, he found the issue then he actually left the broken piece for us to know.
Previously, I got stuck with a broken garage door inside the house, and I couldn't take the car out for more than five days because we couldn't get the service from Ace until five days after. I had to use Uber every single place I went. Because my husband was not at home, I couldn't manually open the door. I was not strong enough.
Then when the guy came in, he said one spring was broken. For the repair to be perfect, we had to put both springs. Otherwise, the door was not going to get balanced. But American Home Shield was not paying for that. They would only ask us to replace the broken one. So you have to pay for the good one. That's $125, and then to balance the door, another $125. So it's $250 extra.
My microwave broke two times. We couldn't close the door and the light was on so we got the service. They replaced the spring and I paid $125 for that visit. Then in two months, the door broke again. The person came and replaced the spring again. That's $125 again. That's $250. I could have used that $250 plus another $50 and buy a new microwave. So for some services like that, it's not even worth it.
I'm wondering, when they come back, at least evaluate the whole situation. This is an old thing. The microwave came with the house and it's now 12 years old. We might as well put a new microwave. I'm not asking American Home Shield to come to put a new AC unit. But sometimes is it worth it to pay $125 to get a spring put back in for something that all of us know it's going to break again in a few months?
We pay $80 a month and then $125 for each visit. American Home Shield puts us at ease. But me and my husband were discussing. Why are we even having American Shield if we have to pay extra? We were thinking the big items, like the AC, that's a risk that we are taking. But I don't think it's worth it for every other thing in the house sometimes.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We’re glad to hear that submitting a claim through our app was easy. However, we apologize for the delays in service and the timeframe it took for the contractor to arrive, especially during cold weather when warm water was much needed. Your recommendation to look into timeliness for both major systems and minor appliances is duly noted.

I've had issues with my refrigerator. The deli drawer was freezing, the freezer was not maintaining cold, and the top of the refrigerator was warm. The icemaker had also stopped working and it would drip water. I filed a claim and the process was easy.
But having the contractor come out was terrible. For one, their timing to be able to see you was a week. Then they come and they’re horrible at communication. The last time that they were here, I told the guy that I was upstairs working and not leave without talking to me. But he left. That’s how they did it every single time.
The last time before this, I stayed downstairs working off my computer on my dining room table. He walks out the door and I chase him. I asked if he was leaving and he told me that it was done. I asked him to go back and took him back to my refrigerator.
In all of the visits that they had done, he never addressed the deli drawer that was freezing. I was livid. Part of this was because they wouldn’t call me. I had to call them and tell them that a week had gone by, but I had no answer from them. They told me they ordered a part and that they didn’t know when it was coming. I asked for a tentative date and was told that it was the service guy who ordered so they didn’t know.
I asked to put me on the schedule. I knew they were gonna say it’s another week and when I call, it’s gonna be another week for them to come out. The rep said they can’t do that. And that’s exactly what happened. The part came in and it was another week for me to wait. Then the part didn’t work.
It was a long, horrible process. I will never, ever recommend those people. Even in the middle of the whole thing, I wanted to cancel my American Shield because it felt like they were not backing me up. I was spinning my wheels and I told them I needed a different provider. It was ridiculous. I can’t even talk with them.
To somebody who wants to use AHS, be careful who they assign to you. Do your own research, pull them up on Google and find out who the people are. I was with their sister company and I never had a problem with who they sent. I could even tell them that I wanna go with my Georgia plumber and they would say okay. But with AHS, there’s not enough vendors to have a choice.
When I was in the middle of the whole thing, I told one of the service girls to get me someone else and she refused. She told me I already have a ticket open with them. I don’t understand why they’re not trying to help me. I was so upset. Finally, I told them to send me through the process.
Thank you for sharing your candid feedback. We're pleased you found the American Home Shield claim process manageable online but regret that ATL Agile Repair did not meet your expectations. Communication and proper follow-up are crucial, and we apologize for any frustration this experience caused—Retrieving timely updates and addressing all concerns, such as the frozen deli drawer, is imperative.

My heat wasn't working. I made an online claim with American Home Shield and the website was friendly. Technicians came and they were rude and distant. They weren't that forthcoming or friendly. They first told me the issue was the zoning board. When they had to come back out again in a week’s time, it was the switch. I was gonna call them again because I smelt a burning smell. I wasn't sure if it was my heat but I wanted somebody to come out and see what exactly was going on.
I’d tell others to get insurance like American Home Shield. But I will advise them of the price. American Home Shield keeps going up on my price. Both deductible and monthly fees went up. I've been told that other places were cheaper. That aside, it helps to know that in that time of crunch, when you don't necessarily have thousands of dollars to dish out, you can pay your home warranty and they'll bring somebody out. If they aren't able to fix a unit, they will replace it.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.
Thank you for your continued support and for seeing past the challenges to share your experience. If you have any further concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to assist you and ensure your satisfaction.

I made the claim on AHS’ website and it’s fairly straightforward. I was pleasantly surprised that they came out the next day. The electrician went to the fuse box, identified where the problem was and ended up needing to replace a circuit breaker in the fuse box. He was good.
I had to call a couple of times for a plumbing issue and ended up getting the money back because the person didn't show up and didn't solve it. They need to do better on who they're doing trades with. I was very pleased with Ideal Electric but not with the plumbing person. AHS is a little expensive for what I have to pay for each call.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We've been a customer of American Home Shield for a long time, and 90% of our interactions have been very good. What I like most is being able to go to one business to deal with these home issues.
We called them twice for our air conditioning units. The first call was several months ago for our unit that covered our game room area. The technician who came out didn't fix anything and we were incredibly dissatisfied with that.
The second call was for the same problem. A different guy came out and he was very helpful. I told him what happened. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "Yeah, that guy doesn't work for us anymore." It was a problem with the motherboard, and so he changed it out. It works just fine.
Their communication needs to be better. For instance, this claim we have open right now, they told us we owe the plumber $501 and some change with no explanation as to why. So we contacted the plumbing group and they said they don't know why American Home Shield would charge us that. We are now in the process of following up with them about that. They need to do more explanation.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It's great to hear that, ultimately, the issue with your air conditioning unit was resolved by our technician. We aim to provide seamless service but regret the inconvenience during the initial attempt and documentation with external services like plumbing. The miscommunication regarding your bill deeply concerns us, and we'll directly address it to clarify any misunderstandings. If there are further questions about your recent interactions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

American Home Shield dispatched a company to come out and work on my AC that wasn’t working. The first company was not so good, mainly because the person who came out insisted I needed to change a part that didn’t need changing. I sent an email to AHS and the representative confirmed that I didn't need that. She dispatched another company, and that company did a good job. So far, the AC seems to be working. They actually did a good job. It was easy to submit the claim. I called and they opened a ticket. The person who I spoke to was friendly, and dispatched someone to come out. They were friendly, attentive, and took their time to understand what the issue was. They did it in a timely manner.
A while back, I had an account with AHS, and the customer service wasn’t as great. But this time around, the company they dispatched was responsive. The representative from American Home Shield was also very nice. I had a good experience with every person I spoke to so I wanna give them credit. It was really nice and I appreciated that. I think it was wonderful. It’s a huge difference from what it was in the past.
When AHS contracts good companies that have good reviews, it makes a huge difference. We don't wanna have someone who doesn’t show up, or come late, and then take three weeks to order parts. That used to be my experience in the past. Now it’s great. Having the right contractors working for AHS definitely changed the reputation of the company..
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We are delighted to hear that you've noticed positive changes and found our customer service and follow-up efforts commendable. We're also glad to hear that the second visit promptly and efficiently resolved your air conditioning issue. Should you need any further assistance, please visit our website . When my my garbage disposal was leaking, I placed the claim online initially when the first person came out. On the second time, I called them for the same issue. When the initial contractor came in I told him what the problem was and I had described to him what previously happened, that I had cleaned out the water but it appeared to be coming from the garbage disposal. He looked at the garbage disposal and said that he didn't see any water leaking, and if it happened again, for me to give them a call. It wasn't leaking every day but when I used it around Thanksgiving, it started leaking again so I had put a plastic container underneath it just in case it started leaking again.
I called the company because he said he would come back out if it started leaking again but he did not come back out. They suggested that I call AHS and reschedule them. I called AHS told them that I needed my garbage disposal fixed because it was leaking again and it's an inconvenience.
I have paid for someone to fix it initially and they did nothing. The guy didn't even go underneath it to see where it was leaking from. The second guy did. He was very personable and he described what was going on and that it was leaking from the seal. If he didn't use a flashlight to do an assessment of what was going on with the garbage disposal, he wouldn't have discovered it.
He fixed it and I haven't had any problems since. I still keep the plastic container underneath it just as a shield in the event it does start leaking.
I'm satisfied with the second vendor but not with the first one. I'm completely satisfied with AHS. Sometimes you do get contractors that are not so great, but I'm not gonna hold that against them. They've been very reliable and I will continue to use their service.

There was a charger that was being plugged into the electrical outlet. As soon as it plugged, there was a spark and you can see where it was black around where it was smoking. Then in my electric fireplace, there was another outlet that would trip off everything when plugged. I even have a surge protector on.
Submitting the claim online was easy. I received an email notification that MY Custom Electric would be contacting me, and the contractor did. But, I was not satisfied with the service because all he did was take something and plug it into the electrical outlet and then said that they were working properly. So, since they were working properly, there was nothing that could be done. He said that the fireplace is considered a small appliance, so for it to work properly, I would have to plug it in through the kitchen.
I had moved the fireplace to another location in the same room and it ran for two hours fine. When he got here, it was even running. He was basically saying that I would have to wait until something catches on fire before it would be repaired, so I was quite disappointed. He did nothing. I called American Home Shield back and they said that if they send somebody out that I would have to pay another $100. I was not going to do that. If somebody came and told me the same thing the previous contractor said, I would have been out of $200. I was already pissed I was out of $100.
They could have had somebody come back out behind this prior contractor without me having to pay for another free. Somebody in my subdivision said that they had the same issue with a space heater being repaired that had caught fire. So, I cannot take the risk of using my fireplace again with the possibility of catching on fire. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the service and the response I received when I called back.
We appreciate you sharing your experience with us regarding the contractor visit. It is crucial for us to ensure that your home is safe and that our service is reliable. I have three claims this month with American Home Shield. They sent somebody out within a day or two. One of my claims is for a refrigerator that they said was repaired but it wasn't. A tech had to come back. Now, he needs to order another part for the refrigerator because the part he put in broke. I'm still waiting on the parts. The tech came and worked on a washing machine too. When he left, water wouldn't run into the tub. I had to have him come back out here. He came back and found that the hose was kinked in the back and it was his fault that it happened. He fixed that and the washing machine's working fine. I'm also waiting on a part for my air conditioning.
American Home Shield has treated me right and I'm happy with them right now. I have recommended them to several people and one of the people I recommended them to signed up with them.

Each time a contractor came out, the first thing they wanted to do was replace the water heater. The first time they came out, it had something to do with the starter. The tech looked at the date and said something needed to be replaced. I told him to hold off on that. I did some research and I fixed the problem.
Seven years later, I had another issue with the pressure. Techs came and they put up a pressure regulator. But when they left, they never adjusted it so it was wide open. This is why my water heater right now is leaking at both sides. I got Spire out to replace it and their guy is about to walk through the door.
American Home Shield is a waste of time because people are properly trained and nobody really cares. They're supposed to come out here to fix things and not replace them. Replacing is the last option. But that’s not the case. I told American Home Shield that they can’t keep hiring people who are out here robbing people, because that's what they're doing.

We had a contractor come out for our oven. He was friendly and diagnosed the problem very quickly. It took a bit longer than I expected to hear back from him. It was then identified as not fixable. It had to be replaced. That was not a great experience. The replacement they first issued was not like-for-like, so I had to call them. They gave me an electric range with an oven, or maybe an electric oven with a gas range. We have gas for both. We have a downdraft oven. They did not give me a downdraft. This time they're giving me a downdraft. Overall, having American Home Shield is probably not worth it in the long run.

In the past when I made a claim, it was nothing but a runaround. I was so frustrated I was going to quit it. But at the same time, I know that I've got other things that are probably going to break down so I've held on to it. And I hoped to have positive experiences going forward.
The most recent experience has been just fine. I logged in and submitted my problems, and a guy came out within a couple of days. He got back to me and let me know that they would need to wait on a part. That was the only delay. Then he came out and fixed it. Everything's great. I’m super happy with this experience.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We're delighted to hear about your recent positive encounter with our claim process and how efficiently everything was addressed once the necessary parts were in hand. We're committed to providing seamless experiences like these for all our members.
We're hopeful that moving forward, your future interactions with American Home Shield will echo the smoothness of your latest encounter. My toilet kept running so I phoned American Home Shield to submit a claim. Fast Tech Plumbing told me the problem was the ball joint. Now, my toilet’s functioning properly.
So far, I’m pleased with AHS. They’ve been professional in responding to an issue and when working at the home. I’ve had another warranty company but I had a difficult time with them responding. With AHS, it’s easier because I can call and it doesn't take two or three days for them to call back. They were more prompt in calling. Also, payment is taken out and I don’t have a large sum to pay to have something repaired.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're delighted to hear that you found the claim process straightforward and that Fast Tech Plumbing successfully resolved your issue. It was a Friday night when I put the information in online. That's when we found that our furnace was having a problem. It was three days before anybody called me. I would suggest that they do something different and/or have somebody that monitors it 24/7.
The night before, we took pictures of what was wrong, sent it to them, and they had the part with them when they got here. The contractor came out and replaced the exhaust blower for the furnace. He was here for maybe 20 minutes.

Our pool pump wasn't working and we didn't know what was going on with it. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online. I put in a service ticket and they called us. Technicians came out and looked at it. It was not the pump that was the issue. Apparently, there was an electrical issue. The technicians referred it back to American Home Shield and Solomon Construction came and took a look at the electrical work.
Solomon said they couldn't get in touch with me. But I only got one message and it was on a Friday afternoon. I called back Monday morning and they said they cancelled the work order. I had to call American Home Shield to have them reopen the ticket so Solomon could come back. They're closed for the holidays and they're not able to come until after the New Year.
I've had American Home Shield in all of my houses. I’ve had the warranty for 10 years. I bought an older home and I was worried that things would go bad. I wanted to have the extra coverage. I had to make a few claims and after that, I said, “I'm never gonna not have the additional warranty to help with those things.” Get an American Home Shield warranty. It is worth having because they help cover things that your homeowner's insurance wouldn't cover. It is also easy to file a claim and usually pretty straightforward.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and thank you for your longstanding loyalty over the years. We are delighted to hear that you find our claim process straightforward and our services valuable. Ease and peace of mind are our goals, particularly for handling issues that homeowners insurance may not cover.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the communication issue you encountered with Solomon Construction. We understand that waiting for service can be frustrating, especially with unexpected scheduling briefs. If there’s any way we can assist further or expedite portions of this, please reach back to us.
Thank you once again for choosing American Home Shield. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we look forward to serving you in maintaining your home systems and appliances.

Our microwave wasn't working so we filed a claim with American Home Shield. Everything was smooth and easy. It was online and I liked the process. They give you a technician and he shows up. A technician came, reviewed what it was, and he thought it had to do with some parts. He then ordered the parts. It took almost a week and a half to get the parts. He changed the parts but the microwave was still not working. He determined that they needed more parts. He went back and forth for almost a month until he finally got the right parts that were damaged inside the microwave. It was a severe damage and it was a lot of parts.
It was a long process until the technicians figured out what it was, and then they fixed the microwave. It was also time-consuming because we spent a whole month without a microwave until they got all the parts needed to do the replacement. At the end of the day, they spent more money on parts and labor figuring out what was wrong instead of just replacing the microwave. Sometimes it's better to get something new and save money. Not for me because I'm paying a fixed rate. But for American Home Shield, it should be easier. Now, the microwave is working. But the technician told us it will probably break again because it's coming to the end of the cycle for the appliance. American Home Shield is worth it but they should streamline the process of what they're doing.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're pleased to hear that the claim submission process was convenient and that our technician was thorough in diagnosing the issues with your microwave. We understand that the extended repair time and the decision regarding part replacement versus unit replacement could have been more effectively managed, and we value your suggestion regarding immediate replacements for heavily damaged appliances. Your insights are incredibly valuable in helping us enhance our service efficiency. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and hope to use it to improve future appointments. If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

American Home Shield was a super duper bad company. I submitted a claim for an oven microwave. It's an appliance that's attached together. As usual, American Home Shield forward this to a company. The company said they could not communicate with me, although I called them and they said that they would get back to me with an appointment. But they canceled the dispatch from their end.
American Health Shield put out another dispatch for another company. That company’s representative showed up and he said, “I cannot open this appliance. You need to bring a handyman to bring it out because it's attached to the wall.” I said, “What are you talking about? I'll do it.” I brought the appliance out and he just touched it a little bit. He said it needed the controller to be changed and that they could fix this within a week or two. That was fine by me.
The representative said they were gonna call me with the time to come back. I called them and they said they were gonna come next week to fix it. Next week came and I called them. They said, “Sorry. We did not tell you, but this needs about 10 to 12 weeks for the part to come and we can fix it.” That can be very frustrating. We have three kids and they go to school. We need to fix them a lunchbox every morning. That's already taken a lot of time from us.
I called American Home Shield and they said they had to go by the company, but they could offer me a second opinion, which was gonna be a third company. I did that. A guy came to the house and he did not even touch the appliance. He said, “Okay, yeah, I know.” And then, he wrote something on the papers and left. His supervisor then called me and he said they would fix that for me. Something needed to be changed and to give him some time. He said one or two days. I gave him that.
That whole time, we were running through time. I called them after two days and he said he would study this at the end of the day and he would respond to American Home Shield. I thanked him. I received an e-mail at the end of the day that the dispatch was canceled. I called American Home Shield and they said the appliance was damaged by the previous owner, which did not make any sense because I've been in this house for two years now. There was no way that the oven and the microwave were broken for two years. There was no previous owner. But American Home Shield said they were just gonna cancel everything altogether. That really got me very furious. They did not even want to do a cashout. I wanted to cancel everything. And I have many policies with them because I have rental houses.
I ended up giving American Home Shield one more chance. I put another dispatch for the microwave but they canceled that. Another thing was they went back to the old dispatch and said, “Now, maybe we will offer a cashout, which is about 699.” I received the cashout but that was after three months of going back and forth with them. All the frustration for me and my family happened because they just went back and forth with causes that were not logical like the previous owner or water. It was all lies.
Whatever American Home Shield provided did not cover anything from what I did. I paid another company $140 to come out and do a diagnostic. This was JennAir, which was the brand of the appliance. They said they would fix it within one week and they asked for $1,100. I said, “I have a home warranty. Why I pay $1,100?” I told American Home Shield that and they said they cannot go with an outside company. They had to go with their own companies. I then ended up buying a new appliance from Costco for $3,000. It was delivered today and it will be installed in two hours.

American Home Shield is efficient. I always call when submitting a claim and the contractor who came was knowledgeable. The stopper that you pull up on the sink to keep the water from going down was broken. He said the stopper was plugged, but I said it was broken. It was broken underneath as well. He had to replace it, and everything is functioning perfectly now.
I would recommend AHS highly. The only problem I have is the money that my daughter has to pay for someone to come out. $125 is steep. I could see $50 or $75, but that's the plan she has. It was $325 for the year and the seller paid for that. If it was free, she's gonna take it. But we didn't know until the first call that there was $125 to pay first. That's a lot.

American Home Shield approved only a TXV repair on an older HVAC R-22 system even after their own contractor stated the repair has no guarantee, the compressor condition is unknown, and TXV freeze-ups can damage the compressor. The repair estimate was $5,257.98, requiring $2,676 out of pocket, yet AHS offered only $1,485 cash in lieu despite replacement estimates around $8,500–$8,800. This forced a choice between a speculative repair or an unreasonably low settlement. Very disappointing claims handling.

My washer was not going through its last cycle, so the clothes were still sopping wet when I pulled them out. I reached out to American Home Shield via the app. It was definitely easier to reach them because you don’t have to wait for somebody to pick up. I didn’t have to worry about online hours or having to go through all the different buttons to get to somebody.
The technicians came out in a timely manner. I didn’t like what they had to say, but they said it professionally and factual. I did call them again yesterday to cancel my services, and then gave them another opportunity to come out to look at my washer. They also have those little promos where if you get somebody to join, then you get a $25 gift card. However, I called them three times because I never got my gift card but they didn’t help me resolve that.
I feel like the prices are reasonable.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your honest perspective. Our escalations team will follow up via email to help ensure the best possible outcome.

DO NOT USE American Home Shield! I have an approved “in lieu of” claim filed and approved in 2023. For TWO YEARS I have been calling them nearly monthly, but have not received the money. First they would only send the payment to the property address which I explained has NO USPS service. They said they had no way to send a check anywhere else, even though I also had my primary home on the policy. They mailed a check several times to the property address which was either returned or destroyed by the post office. Finally early 2025, they found a way to send the check to my primary residence, but I never received it. This is now DECEMBER 2025!!!! Every single time I call I get the same scripted response…. There are no notes in the file, I will have to refer this to accounting to find out what happened and will call you back in ONE BUSINESS DAY. In 6 months I have never received a call back or a check.
One month ago after an hour on the phone I was told they would make an ACH payment to my bank account. 2 weeks ago I was told they “think it’s in process and to wait another 2 weeks”. I spoke to someone in escalation today, after 2 weeks, and was told there are no notes in the file and they need to escalate this and send it to accounting again for review. In addition, I no longer own the home but they said I have to keep the account open in order for them to process/investigate the claim and they are charging me $113/mo which I have to dispute every month with my bank. Their processes are USELESS, customer service is completely scripted and the people that you are able to speak to on the phone are COMPLETELY USELESS!
Thank you for sharing these details with us—it’s clear that our processes have fallen short, and I understand how upsetting this must be. I’d greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly, review your claim thoroughly, and ensure we take immediate steps toward resolving this matter.
Please know that your experience matters to us, and I’m committed to making this right.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. We used them for years with no real issue, until recently. Our water heater tank cracked. We needed a new water heater in the home we own. Called American Home Shield, they sent Myers. Myers verified that the tank was cracked and water heater needed to be replaced, along with $1500 of unnecessary "modifications" that we would be required to pay out of pocket before they would come replace the water heater. Got a second opinion THROUGH AHS to verify our original issue and, wouldn't you know it, we ONLY needed a water heater! AHS refused to let the second company install due to it "being the same issue."
Myers REFUSED to install just a water heater because they weren't making diddly. They even stooped so low as to offer a "30% discount" due to my family being without hot water for A WEEK trying to work with AHS and Myers. AHS offered us a $300 cash out for the repair, which didn't even cover the water heater. Ended up canceling AHS and asking the "#2 at Myers" how he slept at night cheating families for a living. My husband and I replaced the tank ourselves in about 2 hours and $700. There was a complete lack of customer service and NO possibility to speak to someone on a higher level that COULD possibly help.
I went so far as to get my personal insurance agent involved, who talked to multiple different people at AHS on the phone, each one less helpful than the last, and even she couldn't get in touch with an area manager to get more personal about the situation. I have told everyone I know about the horrible experience and how much money we lost/wasted on the top tier plan for almost a decade. It really hurt to know that not only were we being taken advantage of by an HVAC company from 100 miles away when there are dozens in the AHS group within 10 miles, but AHS didn't care that we couldn't shower, cook, LIVE in our own home without this repair. This had nothing to do with "meeting expectations."
AHS sent out the company that did the second opinion then denied them the work after they verified the "modifications" were not necessary! There was a lot of back and forth because you can never get the same person one the phone and it seems no two reps have access the same notes. This is just my warning to anyone looking into a home warranty and wanting to be heard by said company. This is NOT the one.
We're truly sorry to hear about your recent experience with our service. The situation you've described, particularly the issues surrounding unnecessary charges and lack of timely resolution, clearly did not meet our usual standards. Their business model is to charge you a monthly fee and then when you have a repair charge you $120 to send the technician, which will then do a very short evaluation, if the repair is cheap, they will try to get the part and your item fixed. If it’s not cheap they will find a reason not to cover it and not care if you cancel. The reason they don’t care if you cancel is because they have so many people that never file a claim that pay their monthly bill, which are the customers that they want to keep.

Our AC went out and wasn’t cooling the house anymore. When Cecil & Sons had to come out, we didn't know they were coming. They just gave us a window between 8:00 and 12:00. It was 11:50 but we didn't hear anything from them until I called and asked. They called back and said they were on their way.
My husband was there to interact with them personally. There was a fuse that was blown and they had to do something in the breaker box. They had a part order which came in a couple days later. Their rep came, installed the part and we haven’t had any issues since then.
Going on American Home Shield’s website is very convenient for me and as soon as I submit a ticket, they'll tell me who the vendor is that'll handle my issue. So instead of you having to call a plumber, they'll help with dispatching whoever you may need or what's going on in your home. They take care of everything for you. I don't have any complaints other than the price went up about $15 from when I first bought my home in 2019.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you've found our service convenient and helpful in managing home repairs since becoming our valued member in 2019. We acknowledge the communication issue with our contractor and are pleased it was resolved, ideally to your satisfaction. Your trust means a lot to us. We appreciate your recommendation to your family and neighbors. If the costs have increased, please know we're dedicated to ensuring that our service retains its value. American Home Shield is a good warranty company to have. I had a furnace issue and I called them for service. I told them what the problem was and they automatically scheduled the service. The only thing is getting them on the phone and the people handling the claim could be improved. That aside, the gentleman who came out had excellent customer service. The repair didn't take long. It was just a blockage that he said he had to clean. He also checked the wires. Within 20 minutes, the issue was fixed. Everything is functioning great now.

I hadn't had a big problem with American Home Shield until my issue with the refrigerator. I think it's horrible that a senior citizen has to be out of service for a refrigerator from June to December without anybody really trying to take care of the issue. My refrigerator wasn't getting cold. It took six or seven dispatches before they started sending more senior technicians. The first technician did not speak English very well and did not communicate that there was a problem. He said it would start cooling in a couple of hours, but it never did.
American Home Shield kept telling me they needed to have a diagnosis to close the issue and cash it out. The problem was the vendor wasn’t giving the status of the issue back to American Home Shield. I kept telling them it wasn't my responsibility for their vendor to talk to them. They should have a better way of escalation. When you call and ask for escalation, the reps say they’ll refer you to someone and get back to you. They’ll push the issue forward and help set up another date. But there’s no definite answer and nobody ever gets back to you.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you've encountered in resolving the issue with your refrigerator since June. It is concerning to learn about the communication challenges with our technicians and the escalation process's confusion. We understand how critical a properly functioning refrigerator is, especially over such an extended period.

American Home Shield has name recognition and I haven't heard of any other home warranty companies to compare them to so I went with them. They respond quickly but I’m on the fence with them. They don’t cover enough services and I had to pay some of these services out of pocket. And it’s so hard to get things replaced.
They wouldn't replace my AC unit this summer. I paid out of pocket for the hardware ‘cause I needed a new roller and it needed a tune-up. AHS doesn't cover those things so I had to pay $350 out of pocket plus the fee. My unit is 20 years old and needs replacing because it does not cool my house. It’s running constantly to get my house cooled down below a certain degree.
I also had just had the garage door serviced back in September because of the motor. The garage door company was amazing and the technician was really good and thorough. But now, the door wouldn't open due to limit switch issue. I called American Home Shield and the system prompts you to file a claim. I had to go through so many prompts in order to talk to a person. I can't ever talk to a human being upfront which I don’t like. I have to pay another fee to have it serviced again when it’s just barely 90 days since my last issue.
AHS always try to repair but they don't replace things. I pay my premium every month and they can’t replace my AC or my garage door opener. My dishwasher is also not working now and I keep having to reset it. It only works when it wants to.
I would tell other to shop around for a home warranty with a lower premium, and find out what things that they cover within the home and how much the coverage would be in terms of before making a decision.
Warm regards,
Marc

American Home Shield sent the contractor to fix the leakage from my tub. It was all coming down the ceiling from my upstairs unit. Restoration people came out and put the fans on and they dried everything. I'm waiting now for them to come out and do the repairs because the bathroom wall has to be repaired.
At first, I didn't like what happened. I'm paying that $50 each month. And when he came out, he was telling me that I had to pay $80 for that part because I didn't want to wait until they got somebody out there within the days so they could put that part on. If I had to wait, then my water bill is gonna be running up while I'm having this water leaking from my tub.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed experience with us. It was actually quite difficult to get anything done with American Home Shield. It took six months to get the issue resolved. The issue began in the summer and we just got it fixed a month ago. Getting somebody out in a timely manner was difficult. I called multiple times to talk to somebody and it was like talking to a wall. The first company they assigned us to couldn't come out for a week. They assigned us to a second company and they diagnosed, and then Home Shield said that they were gonna order the parts. It was back and forth between Home Shield and the company.
Months later, they decided they needed a second opinion, so they sent another company out and they had to go back and forth with Home Shield, then Home Shield wanted to order the parts so it was cheaper. Eventually, it got fixed, but this was months while there was water leaking through my vent. I'm sure I have water damage due to that. The coverage was great, though. I didn't end up paying anything out-of-pocket.

He cleaned up behind himself and explained what he was doing. He told me to call him if I had any issues with the ice maker within two days.
American Home Shield is fine, but I don't like the customer service, because I don't deal with companies overseas. I'll drop them real quick because they only go by a script. And issues beyond that script, they can't help. When I'm trying to speak to someone back in the States, they refuse to transfer, and there's no number. There should be some type of resolution department that they can escalate it to. They're insisting on trying to help, but can't help because they're saying the same thing. That's my issue and that was a motivating factor of me leaving American Home Shield.

I had a friend who was at my Palm Springs house and happened to notice the water leakage from the valve that lets the water come in up to the toilet. We filed the claim through the web page but for the second time we talked to a person. My friend realized that the floats from two toilets needed to be replaced. He ended up having to call back for the second toilet. The problem is that down in Palm Springs, they have a lot of calcium in the water. Eventually they jam up these little valves.
The contractor was dispatched in two days and he was excellent. He was very personable and knowledgeable. He replaced both of the floats in each toilet. He also replaced both toilet valves that come out of the wall that bring the water into the toilet tank. He was very quick.
The only thing I don't like is that I have a sink that has the same problem because of the calcium in the water. One side of the sink has a problem and you know that the other side is going to have a problem in another six months, but they wouldn't replace the other one while they tech out there since it wasn't leaking at that time so the next time I go there I will probably have to call them again for a 5-cent part.
We've had AHS for about 10 years. They had somebody coming all the way from Riverside, which is really far away from Palm Springs–over an hour's drive. That wasn't as convenient because we can't get to them for a week. Still, AHS is a good service. It works out well for us because I want somebody that's down there. I don't know anybody in Palm Springs when we bought the place. I only have a renter for three months a year. If something goes bad I want somebody else to have to handle that because I'm 1,300 miles away.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're pleased to hear that our timely response and the efficiency of the contractor met your expectations. It's our goal to provide you with convenient service, especially from a distance. We understand your disappointment regarding our policy on replacing parts proactively; however, your feedback is invaluable. When they came out, all the guy did was go in there, change the fuse, turn it on and turn it off a couple times, and then just left. I'm so unhappy with the result that was finalized with American Home Shield. I just keep getting calls to talk about the issue, but no one will change the outcome. My husband and I are both very busy and we just spent hours of our lives waiting for American Home Shield repair people to show up or on the phone with folks to talk through resolutions. We've wasted a lot of time and energy that resulted in something not getting fixed. Now, it's not getting replaced.
Everybody's polite, but it's just not an actual resolution. It feels like a scam. They send a repair person 75 times to cancel half of those times to not fix an issue, then send a different person that says they can't do a replacement.
I wouldn't recommend them. It was very difficult to deal with them. We bought our home in January and it is now December. We just got their final decision that they will not let me escalate. I had to beg for an email address to send the complaint in. I haven't sent the complaint yet because I wanna be thoughtful about writing it. I don't know if it's a real email address. I have my doubts because it took three escalations to even be willing to give me an email address.

American Home Shield is an awesome company. They aren't gonna charge me for my services unless someone comes out and it's not covered, which I always double-check. But I have a problem with the company that originally came out for my refrigerator claim that started on the 28th of October. The people that came out kept trying to fix the outside of the refrigerator. You would push the thing to make the water come out and it wouldn't come out. They said something was wrong with the programmer on the top of the fridge, so they replaced that. They then took out the front part, where we push it to get the water to come out. The tech looked at it and said it should be fine. But it wasn't fine because in the middle of the night, I heard this funny noise. When I got up, the thing where you push the water to come out was coming out by itself. Nobody was pushing it. Water was all over my kitchen floor.
I called the tech back and told him that the thing came out. He said they already did everything they could do. I said, “But something's wrong. It's not coming out.” I was told to take the front off of the water and keep it on ice. But that was not what you're supposed to do. I called American Home Shield and told them the guys were not fixing the issue. This company might not be bad but they just could not figure out what was wrong.
American Home Shield sent out another guy. He already knew what it was. He took the front part off, where you push and the water comes off, and he looked at it. He said, “I'll order the part. When you push on it, there's something that's stuck because of the water buildup.” It had calcium on the inside. I asked, “How do I get it from not doing that? I have soft water.” The guy didn’t know. It's just Vegas and that’s what happens. But I've never had that happen before.
He came out again and he fixed the part. I haven't had it turn on automatically without me touching it and water comes out. It's a little slower but I'm not gonna complain about the water coming out slower than it should be because the water's coming out. So far, I've had no problems. If I have another problem within 30 days, I'll call back.
I would tell others they need American Home Shield because if anything goes wrong, they are there to fix it. I like that I get somebody virtually the next day, unless it's a weekend. Most places around here don't work weekends. If there is a part that has to be ordered, that's not their fault. When I get a service guy out straight away, I understand that he is not gonna fix the issue when he first comes out because he has to assess the situation. But when the part comes in, they let me know straight away and I'm always available for them.

When I had a problem with my water heater, I did a claim but they never showed up. I know they can't come out right away. But I had to get it done. I got a family of four and we all had to shower. I bought the water heater, paid $1,000 for it and installed it myself. If you need something ASAP, you can't get it ASAP. You have to wait. That's the only thing that makes me upset with American Home Shield. Sometimes it takes the company four days to call you back. If you have an emergency, they need to respond a lot faster.
That aside, I like the price. And when they come out and do the job, they do a good job. When there was leakage on my roof, Fog City Roofing came out. The guy got to the job, showed me what he did and was done.

My experience with AHS is like two different worlds. The service side of it is excellent. I’ve had great experiences with the people they sent. One company comes regularly for plumbing and another company for air conditioning and heating. They’re terrific.
But the financial side is another story. When I first joined about four years ago, it was $70 a month and now it’s more than twice that. It’s $157 a month so it’s gone up astronomically each year. I’ve had some difficulties with them as far as calling and trying to make arrangements for lowering the price. What they always do is to have a discount rather than actually lowering the permanent price. When the next year rolls around, the starting point is the price that they have given from the last year.
I’m not so pleased with the way they handle the finances and they really have to do better. They have a hard sell approach and they just back up the prices each year once they get you in it, and that shouldn’t be for a loyal customer. But overall, I’m extremely pleased with the service.

Submitting the claim for my dishwasher that is not working was not that difficult. But getting the repair person to come out, that’s when the issue got a little convoluted, because Home Shield give you days to get that to happen.
Our dishwasher was worn out and not functioning properly and I thought it was time for it to go. You could see some of the wear and tear where the dishwasher didn’t self-clean, so you could see something that shouldn’t be on a dishwasher because it was not stainless steel. I told the repair person very clearly that it was obvious the gasket on the machine was broken because water was all over the floor. They could look at the dishes in there and see that they weren’t clean and that food are still stuck on it.
I was stunned that the repair person could see an old, dilapidated dishwasher and the rationale and rhyme that I was given was that it turns on, and then say it wasn’t functional, or that all I need was a gasket. When I tried to go deeper and find out what the adjuster’s rhyme or reason was, I got nothing.
It’s only me and my wife right now and we’re in the process now of fighting through the holidays. I could install and uninstall the machine, but I just got out of surgery. Given my condition, my wife thought it was inappropriate for me to go and haul a dishwasher out and put a dishwasher in.
I’ve not used a dishwasher. We tentatively try to use it once, but you have to stand there to make sure it doesn’t leak water all over the floor, which happened to me twice, and that was horrific to clean up. I’m still doing dishes by hand until we actually get a chance to replace this thing. I just can’t afford to have unsanitary dishes. And it would just give me some infection by dishwasher at my own home.
Overall, I was very unhappy with the process, the quality of the service and the actual response I got out of it. There should be more latitude with the communication between the client and the adjusters. I asked them what they do and don’t cover because it was obvious that the dishwasher turns on. I also asked if there was any arbitration procedure after if we’re dissatisfied with the results, but they couldn’t give me a response whether or not there was.
I tried to do a buyout, but I didn’t get any money for it nor did they end me a gift card to pick another machine. I’m gonna have to buy another one on my own. It’s a pittance amount, but it doesn’t cover the cost of replacing a Maytag dishwasher and things that goes sideways in your house.
I got an independent resource that was not affiliated with the insurance to come out and actually look at my service. He gave me a full inspection, went through it and said that the gaskets needs to be replaced but it looks like the motor might be a little worn. The motor and the gasket were replaced. I was given an estimate of $585, which is still below market value, but it’s $100 away from actually getting a brand new one.
I wasn’t looking for a $1,000 machine because machines nowadays are so advanced. They got really fancy dishwashers out here but we got a 100 year old house and we don’t really need that. I found a value one that was on sale with similar model, size and everything at Lowe’s which was the facility that Home Shield use. I was very comfortable that if we got this, the warranty on the machine would be what would be used to cover it in case it broke down or didn’t function. That relieves Home Shield from having to do the work.

My problem is with American Home Shield. I called. They asked for the pictures but the guy never sent them. I called them and they never responded.
I've called AHS every single day but there were no updates. I stayed patient for an entire week and a half, and I finally got a response with a rejection because they said that the issue was in the home before I bought it. I thought that's the whole point of a warranty. The inspection did not know about the issue. I filed a report, and I got a response, and it says that Storm Construction said that this issue was a pre-existing condition when I bought the home based on a five-minute inspection with a drone.
I called and I had to pay another $100 for them to come again and see if it's a pre-existing or not. They don't care. The supervisor who I talked to was disrespectful. I'm over this.

My water heater was leaking on the floor. I called American Home Shield the day before Thanksgiving. I paid $125 to get NW Sundance to come out. They came out the day after Thanksgiving. They’ve always done good work in the past, but this time the estimate they gave me for installing the water heater was $1,800, more than double what I paid a different plumber. I called them to try to get more specifics about the cost and they were very unhelpful. The only comment I could get was the cost to have a drain pan put under it was $250, which actually only costs $20. My husband looked it up. We ended up going to another plumber who did a great job. American Home Shield did reimburse us for the cost of the heater, so I was very happy about that.
I've probably called American Home Shield five times in the 20 years I've lived here. Sometimes it’s difficult to get to talk to them. But every time I call, my problem has been resolved fairly promptly and the work has been good.

That first contractor called me after Swann came to fix my range. He was so mad because he said we cancelled. I said, "No. They said they don't have you on file. They cancelled it." He said, "No. They said you cancelled it. Why did you cancel it?" So those things are a little bit annoying for me.

We scheduled another appointment on Tuesday. They brought a second guy and they were able to put a lantern inside and inspect the pipes and remove the piping that was compromised. They tested the flushing of the toilet multiple times to make sure the water was draining correctly and not leaking out. They were very friendly and professional, explained everything. It took them a day, and they didn't have to come afterwards. I don't have anything bad to say about them.

I'm a real estate agent so AHS is a product that I'm supposed to sell to people. How can I sell this when this is how I'm treated as an agent. If I sell this to someone and they say it doesn't work, wouldn't it be a problem for me? Absolutely horrible.

Everything went at once in my house. Economy came out and did what they needed to do. The furnace repair was also good. However, the dishwasher repair is not good. Home Shield called me to set up a date but they couldn’t find anyone to do an install on the dishwasher. Then two weeks ago, I got a phone message saying they’re still looking for somebody in the area to install. So I stopped Whirlpool from delivering the new one because I don’t want it sitting in my kitchen. I’ve been waiting since the end of October and I’m at a standstill.

I’ve been with AHS for three or four years and my experience is usually not that bad. The only time I've had a problem was when there was a part on backorder. I understand that, but I don't understand it about a faucet. Their price is also reasonable. If I had to go get me a new faucet and have a plumber put it in, it would be two or three times that amount.

American Home Shield sent a Sears technician for a repair. However, he couldn’t find the serial number because the label faded, and so therefore couldn’t fix the problem. American Home Shield e-mailed me options to purchase again, choose an appliance for replacement, or a Lowe’s gift card. I wasn’t able to get it replaced yet because the appliances they listed I can choose from are ⅛ of an inch wider than my space. I am thinking of going to Lowe’s to ask them if that’s a significant difference or if it is possible to shove the ⅛ of an inch in that space.

The ones that came out for my dryer is a different story. It was down for three weeks. I knew he motor was gone. The tech thought it was a timing switch. He installed the timing switch which was about a week to get and it still didn't work. He finally ordered a new motor and that took another week. He showed up in a Honda Accord which was very weird because there was no detail on the vehicle. You wouldn't even know it's a company.
I've had AHS for quite a while. They’re good but sometimes the contractors they send out are not the sharpest guys in the shed. The service that American Home Shield has given over the years has been good. The person I live with now had the home warranty at her previous house, and I had seen what they had done and the service that they had given her. When we purchased our house, I decided to continue with them. I would recommend American Home Shield. The response time has been excellent every time. It was a fast, even with connecting with whomever they're gonna have come out. I also like the new feature they have where you can chat with a technician. Technicians look at things to see if it's something that they can walk me through.
American Home Shield has multiple ways to solve your problem. When I need something, I set it through their app. It's very user-friendly. Earlier this year, the garage door was not coming down. I used that chat feature. Turned out I did not need a technician because he was able to walk me through things. He was very patient. I also had a checkup for the winter to make sure we were all set to go for the heating. It was a great experience. American Home Shield explained everything the way they should have. The price is also reasonable. You have an option to pay monthly or yearly. We choose to do the yearly option and we save going that route. You have the order for someone to come out and it's 125, which is affordable. But it would be nice if that 125 could be deducted because we pay the service provider directly.

You can really count on them to get to the bottom of what's going on. I always ask questions because they're always willing to answer. Just understand the process and go get an understanding of what's wrong with your unit. Regardless how big, how small—it's still yours. We had American Home Shield on our previous home for 20 years. When we moved here it was a new house so we said we won't need it. After 10 years, I'm like, "Now you need it." So we definitely picked it up again. You call somebody and, if no one's gonna come today, they're gonna be there tomorrow. It's gonna be quick. If they know about what's happening with the unit, they're gonna bring parts with them so that they can be prepared for what it could be.
I had someone from EJ's Appliance Repair come out and he told me what the problem was. He said he had to order a part and that he would be back in four days. And he did just that. He was very polite. He asked for permission to go to the bathroom. It was right there. He didn't have to ask. But I had no issues with him. Now, the washer is still broken. But I saw an email on Saturday where now American Home Shield is saying they're gonna give us some money towards a new washer from Lowe's.

We had called AHS on the day before Thanksgiving. They got ahold of us real quick on the following Monday and set up a time to come and do it. we had two things that we had needed worked on. One was our dishwasher's door would not close because there's an open space between our dishwasher and the cupboard right beside it, and a pan lid had fallen down in there and was jamming the hinge that kept the door from going closed. He worked on that. It was great and fine.
And the second one was our dryer. Our dryer wasn't working properly. It was taking twice as long to dry clothes. He figured it wasn't the heating element. It was the vent pipe that went from the dryer to the outside of the house was full of lint. He had taken that apart and used the blower to blow all the lint out of that pipe. This is the second home that I've had American Home Shield on. We've just had them with this house since February and we've had to make multiple claims because the house turned out to have a few more problems than we knew about.
The first home was fine because I really didn't have to make very many claims. However some of the service providers that they send out have not been the best. In my previous home, the condensation for my HVAC system started leaking inside. The tech added a bunch of charges that he didn't do. When I looked at the invoice I called American Home Shield and told them that he did not do all of these things. They said they would take care of it and they would talk to him but I never found out the results.
For this home, ATL Agile Repair first came out to look at our washer and dryer last November. It was leaking out of nowhere then our dryer was having some error codes that were coming up on the screen. When ATL Agile came out, I don't think he really did much with the dryer.
He turned the washer on but he didn't go through a normal cycle with some clothes. He claimed that he couldn't find anything wrong with it so he closed the claim. Later that evening, we went to do laundry and it started leaking again. We called American Home Shield back and told them this guy didn't fix it. They were going to send him out again but we told them we didn't want him because he didn't find the problem. They sent another company out, which was Appliance All Stars. They found the problem and fixed it.
For the dryer the tech took it apart and changed out some parts. When he put it back together, it was making a really loud noise. He couldn't really figure out what was going on so he put some duct tape on the bottom of the dryer to keep it from vibrating.
Another issue was that the refrigerator was defrosting. The temperature was not consistent. It would freeze for a while but and all the food was not frozen. It’s the same thing on the refrigerator side. The food is getting warm. They were going to send ATL out but after the experience we had with the washer and dryer, we said we didn't want them to come out so they sent another company and that company came out and fixed the problem.
We had some issues with our pool and we had to have them come out and do some work on the pool but it took forever. We didn't even get to use our pool this summer. By the time the pool was ready, it was a week before summer was over and it got too cool to use.
AHS have these service providers that are definitely not top tier. Sometimes I feel like they put a band-aid on the problem and then it'll last for maybe 40 days and after that you have to pay another service fee to have them come out again. Why not fix it right the first time so that we don't have to keep spending that $125 to fix something that should have been fixed right the first time?
Sometimes it's difficult to get the providers on the phone when you need to talk to somebody after it's open. It's also difficult to understand or it's difficult for reps to understand everything that you're trying to say that happened. I find myself having to repeat what the problem is.
Warm regards,
Marc

I had an issue with my heater. American Home Shield took about a week to reschedule me with another HVAC service because I had a problem with the contractor. On the app it said that the first contractor, Excellence, came and were doing the process already. I told American Home Shield that did not happen because I was home all day and nobody knocked on the door. I was off that day, for the next two days.
That afternoon, I found out the guy said the job has been completed when it wasn’t. I called American Home Shield and they said I need to wait for the next day to get a supervisor call. I spoke with escalation who promised me she's gonna call me that Monday morning at 10:00. That didn't happen. I waited for another call. I called back and found out we just needed to wait for escalation or the supervisor to approve it.
I received a phone call or an email on Wednesday. On Monday, I told the lady that if that person is gonna call me, please call me around 12:15 because that's my lunch hour. She said yes. I got a call from a rep at 10:15, not 12:15, saying they couldn't get ahold of me. I emailed back and confirmed that I needed new HVAC people instead of Excellence.
They sent Ultra Heating and Cooling and Refrigeration. I had a really good experience with them. It took about a week for them to finish it. They came in Friday, found out what's wrong with it, and called me back Wednesday to set up that appointment because they got the parts. They fixed it and they were very knowledgeable. Chris, the one who fixed it, he's professional. But when it comes to customer service, he sucks.
American Home Shield has an offer where I can be on the insurance without paying on the first month. That got me. But I would not recommend them right now because I didn’t like the pinpointing on who can or cannot do a job. They should do a little bit better on who can handle or escalate things. It’s not good when customers hear that the customer service can’t do anything. They also need to update the app. It’s giving customers false information and anxiety. Nobody’s in the home. They are gonna take my $125 that I made a payment on. When the tech comes in for the service, it should be live. It should be truthful.

It seems like all these warranty companies get these fly-by-night companies and they don't get anybody that comes up in a truck that's got the company name on the side. If I ever have to file another claim and I get somebody who comes to the house and they don't wear any uniform and they don't have any name on the side of their truck, I probably won't keep this service because it seems like it's gonna be just as bad as Choice was.
People should probably not go with these warranty services. I see big companies that ride around all the time, heating and air trucks that have been here for 25 years, as respectable companies and I don't know why these warranty companies don't get with someone like that. I just happened to run across American Home Shield when I was on the internet and they had a special going on. I signed up and now, I’m disappointed with them. I love American Home Shield. They are professional, nice, and always helpful to solve the problem. But they don't have so much power of enforcement on the contractors. I had a furnace problem and the contractor came for diagnostic first. After that, they came for a installation. But we had a problem in my case. The contractor closed the case without my knowledge and marked the case as solved. I was confused because there was no evidence they fixed the problem at that time. There is no report or signed document. The ticket displayed as solved in my dashboard but my problem was not solved.
When I saw the ticket as solved, I wrote a 1-star review for the contractor. Because of that they told me they would cancel the appointment and come to my house later. They said I made a mistake. I tried to contact American Home Shield because it is not acceptable, but they couldn't help me on that point. They told me they couldn't change the ticket status or force the contractor.
I called several times American Home Shield for that and they tried to contact the contractors. They also couldn't contact with contractors. I couldn't contact with the contractor because their phone was not answering. I texted them but they didn't respond to my texts. But seven days after diagnostic, they called me suddenly and told me, "If you are available, we can come and fix your problem." In the end, they fixed the problem but it took one week.

Giants Plumbing was super-fast, responsive and knowledgeable. The tech stayed in touch and let us know when they were on the way. He knew exactly what he was talking about and was very logical in how he explained everything. A part needed to be ordered and he told me he’d be back on Monday, which he was. In the meantime, he got things working well enough until the repair could be completed. They came back as promised, fixed the issue, and closed everything out properly. Communication was clear the entire time, and they were professional and knowledgeable. Overall, it worked out just fine. But we’ve experienced some contractors where we didn't have that same level of service.
I have issues when I have to call American Home Shield on the phone to set up the claim, so I just did it online. I have been recommending them but after the AC issue, I'm probably a little more concerned. So, I would have some reservations right now. The issue with Giants Plumbing helps with that but being out without the AC for four weeks and not getting any consistent follow-up from American Home Shield was a real problem. The main problem with them is that no one owns the process. After approving a part replacement, it still took 10 days for them to order it, and there was no clear communication on when it would arrive. Every time I called, I got a different representative. Some were knowledgeable but most just followed their script without giving real answers. There’s nothing online about the status of parts or expected timelines, so I had to call repeatedly and even reach out to local distributors to get accurate updates.
I was the one driving the entire process and I had to keep track of everything, chase down information, and coordinate follow-ups because American Home Shield’s system doesn’t provide transparency or accountability. It’s frustrating and confusing, and it’s nothing like the experience I had in the past when they used to manage these issues more proactively.
Thank you for providing AHS with your valuable feedback regarding your recent experience and the repairs completed under your contract coverage. We appreciate your input and are glad we could assist you.

The electronics on the front of my refrigerator was not active. National Platinum Services replaced the touchpad and it still did not work. They came out again and said it was electronics in the back of the machine and it wasn't able to be fixed. And so, AHS replaced my refrigerator.
Everything worked perfectly with American Home Shield this time because the last time I had issues, it took six months to get it resolved. And this time, American Home Shield sent a different contractor to evaluate it, and everything got done within a week. I took the card for Lowe’s, and I just went and bought one myself. I had the money subtracted off the gift card, and it was fine.

It was pretty quick. Sears got ahold of me real quick and they came the next day to check out the microwave. But it could've been quicker if the guy had a helper. And he didn't have his truck that might have had that magnetron tube on it, so that took a couple of extra days. Sears put a new magnetron in the microwave—the other one burned out. But the thing he left us with—he said, "We are not responsible for any damage." I thought if he dropped that thing on the stove and cracked the glass or chipped the backsplash, they were not responsible for it. That frees them up off of a lot.
Once he left, I found out that the door to the microwave opens and closes with a little clicking sound for the last inch and a half. Whatever everyone has put back, something might have gone in front of those hinges and when they slide in to close, they passed something that they nicked. It doesn't stop the door from closing, but it didn't do that before we had the problem. Then again, they're not responsible for anything. It's nothing major. Everything works fine, but you're not going to get them back to fix it for that. I'm not happy about that.

American Home Shield has been wonderful and I’ve recommended it to a lot of homeowners. The first guy that came out to look at the AC was very friendly. He said there was nothing wrong with it. And it continued to freeze up, so I called them back and they sent another technician out. He told us it was the motherboard, and they were gonna order another one, and would notify me to schedule a time to come out and replace it.
After Thanksgiving holiday, they contacted me to schedule a time because the part had come in. I wasn’t available on Fridays because I have work and a guy came out on Monday and repaired it. Well, I guess I won't know until the weather gets cold or hot enough to turn on the AC. It’s been cold here in Lubbock, and the heat is working great. But we won’t be able to turn on the AC until it starts warming up.
I’ve never had any issues submitting claims online. The options there didn't really describe my AC, but they contacted me and I explained to them what it was. So, there was no problem. They were very polite and really kept in contact with me and they came out and took care of it.The dishwasher issue is a totally different thing. The company that came out was horrible. They came out three times and it still continued to leak. Nothing against AHS, just the company itself.

When Kirkland Overhead Door came, they inspected the problem, told me what it was, then came back the next day and fixed it. It was easy and fast. In my experience, American Home Shield's a great company, and as soon as you report the issue, they report back to you in a reasonable time and get the problem solved. The prices for the premiums are reasonable and customer service was nice and quick.

I recommend American Home Shield. You can get what you need when you have a problem at home.
Recently the microwave was not working and the contractor said that I didn't have an over-the-stove microwave. I had to get a second person to come out and prove that it was over-the-stove. I didn't like having to have two different companies come out to have a second opinion. It was not necessary but in the end I got a new microwave.

I had a rough experience with American Home Shield. I reported an issue back in October with my microwave, a two-year-old LG that had Wi-Fi and could take photos with my cellphone. I had to wait over a whole month to find out they couldn't get the part that they needed. The contractor came and tried to fix it. They ordered three parts, and only two came. After two weeks, another part was supposed to come, but it didn’t come. I called them, and they said that he couldn’t fix it and they need to order new parts. American Home Shield told me that a company will get the parts from my home. No one came.
An installer came and installed a new microwave, but it wasn't the microwave that I had. My impression was they would give me the equivalent to that microwave that I have or better, but I got somewhat of a downgrade. I'm not pleased. I called them to see if I can get a partial refund. If I hadn't called anyone, I wouldn't have gotten this far with it. I waited a lot of time. I was trying to get it done before Thanksgiving. They didn't have it ready until the week after Thanksgiving.
Another pet peeve I have is that I wanna pay for six months or a year in advance and I’m not able to do that. I have to pay month-to-month. Now they charge my credit card every month and that's bad on my credit.
Sincerely,
Marc

I haven't had any problems with American Home Shield. The technician they sent out was really nice. I liked him. He cleaned up after himself. He wrote what he had to do and explained what he was doing. He gave me a two-day timeframe and if the icemaker is not producing ice by the end of the next day, to give him a call. And I called him. He answered and said, “I'm gonna take the next step and see what needs to be done.” So he was really nice. They just ordered a new refrigerator.
I don't like customer service because I don’t deal with companies overseas. They only go by a script, and issues beyond that script, they can't help. And when I'm trying to speak to someone back in the States, they refuse to transfer. There's no number. There should be some type of resolution department that they can escalate it to. They're insisting on trying to help, but they can't help me. They’re just saying the same thing. But American Home Shield is fine.

I have an outstanding claim with American Home Shield right now though, currently for my water heater. They’re not executing the contract properly. There's a clause in there that says that if the state code requires a modification, they would pay for it. They don't wanna do that. When I asked them, "Why do you have this in here if you're not gonna adhere to it?" The answer was, "I don't know."
I even got the contractor on the phone with them on a three-way call, and he told them, "This lady is not making any upgrades. These are the requirements of the state. That's all she's getting." I said, "Now that you know, what are you gonna do about it?" They're like, "I understand what you're saying. It makes sense, but we just don't do it like that. You have to have the Platinum Plan. I said, "I have the Gold Plan, and this is the wording. I spent my whole career interpreting contracts, so I know what I'm saying."
The lady from AHS said she can talk to their legal." I said, "Please do 'cause that's the direction it's gonna go. Have them call me. I can't go without a water heater forever, so if I pay it, I am gonna sue for the difference, because it's in the contract." As far as that aspect of AHS, that's making me change companies. I can't continue to give my money to a company that's gonna sell me a contract and not adhere to it.
However, the guy from Myers who came out to tune up the heating unit was amazing. He was personable, knowledgeable, and got straight to the job. He explained to me the problem that I was having and didn't try to upsell me or tell me I needed to change this or that. He did his job and told me everything was great. That's all I wanted.
Thank you for sharing your experience with our services. We're delighted to hear that the contractor from Meyers Comfort Specialist provided excellent service on your heating unit.

The company that came out was on point. They called me the same day that the referral went in and came out the next morning. The guy was awesome, very professional, and polite. He checked if he had the parts and explained everything to me. He changed the filter and told me everything was looking good. I only had to change the capacitor. He said I could submit another referral for that, and I just told him to just go ahead and fix it. It would be the same money.
Also, the oven was not working. The company AHS initially gave me was horrible. They didn't return phone calls or my messages. When I called AHS back, they got them on the phone and tried to schedule them to come out yesterday. I told them I wasn't gonna wait that long. I prefer going to another company and waiting for them to come in. I had to switch them out after about two or three days of no response from them. The new company came out yesterday and fixed my oven. The guy was respectable. He told me what was wrong with the range, my microwave, and my dishwasher. The contractor was just awful. He came out and they billed American Home Shield where I had to pay $800 to redo something. And they did not do anything but replace the hot water heater. The guy then took my circulating pump off. And when I told him he can't do that, he said someone else will come back and replace it. I got the impression he didn't know what it was or he didn't know how to put it back on.
Another contractor came out and he looked and asked where the old pump was. After I told him the first contractor took it, they ordered a new one and I had to wait. When the new pump arrived, the first contractor came back and installed it. I tried to tell him the drip drain should be three to six feet up, but he would not listen. The other contractor said he would come back and do it. The installers were just awful, but the last installer that they had to come and put in this circulating pump got it up and running.
I was considering letting it go this year. I don't think American Home Shield is the problem. It's that each time I have to have an experience with the contractor, that's the problem. They need to have more oversight over the contractors that they hire.

Fast Tech Plumbing was summoned by American Home Shield for a plumbing issue. There was slow drainage in the sink and in my tub, and my toilet was backing up. They came out and resolved the issue. However, in less than 24 hour, I was experiencing the same thing. I called Fast Tech Plumbing directly and they came back out. They did the exact same thing, which was only snaking the drain.
I called American Home Shield and asked if the fee could be waived. They told me, “No, because it's been 30 days.” I explained to them that, the issue was not properly assessed. I've been in the house for six years and the issue happened at a time and now, it’s happening again. I intentionally requested that Fast Tech not be assigned back to my home because I did not want them to come back out. I did not like them and I was not satisfied with the work they did. I am under the belief that they did not properly assess and diagnosed the issue. They also did not resolve the issue because 45 days later, I'm experiencing the same challenge that I had the first two times that they came out.
The first time I did the claim, I used the conventional way of calling. Fast Tech has been out to my house three times, two times in less than 24 hours for the same issue. The second time I needed someone to come out, I did the claim over the app. I saw that American Home Shield was sending back Fast Tech, which prompted me to call so that I could make it known that I did not want Fast Tech to come back out to my house. They sent Fast Tech out again against my wishes.
The tech only snaked the drain and pipes again. I asked why and I expressed to him that there needs to be more diagnosis and assessment. He said he would have to call American Home Shield because there was more to do. He needs to take a camera down in the pipes. I asked him why he was not doing that. I told him to call American Home Shield right then to let them know that so he could get to resolving the issue. He and I went back and forth. No one called me from American Home Shield to follow up. I called back the other day and spoke with someone. I requested to speak with a supervisor and I was connected with someone else. She said that she would be sending someone out for a second opinion and they should be calling me. To date, I have not received a call from anyone. The contractor that we are supposed to be connecting with to come out for a second opinion has yet to come out.
I would not recommend Fast Tech Plumbing to any other American Home Shield customer or anyone I know. They should not be a vendor because they're providing very temporary solutions to problems that may require a bit more assessment and diagnosis. That is extremely unfair to the customer, especially when I am paying for a premium service from American Home Shield. And then I have to pay 125 bucks each time someone comes out. For me to have to spend $250 for Fast Tech Plumbing to come out twice and for the same issue is very unacceptable. It's beginning to feel a little predatory on both American Home Shield and Fast Tech. I'm paying every month and American Home Shield can't send competent or skilled people out to do the work or they don't care enough to do the work properly the first time.
We sincerely apologize for the difficult experience you've had with American Home Shield and Fast Tech Plumbing. Ensuring our customers are completely satisfied with their service is our highest priority, and it is clear we did not meet your expectations. The tech said he needed a part but told me it was ready to use. So I used the machine and it was working. But the machine made a big noise and then it was not working. The machine was working all right until the techs came. Something must have happened and they could not fix it. It was unrepairable.
I told AHS that they couldn’t fix it. I heard that they give or help to get a new if they cannot fix it. But AHS said no because it was overloaded, which it never was. This company is absolutely the worst! We purchased a plan back in July and then called them in October. We have had our appliances for a while and the one thing we needed to have looked at was the gas cooktop which had a loose control knob. Everything worked just fine, but like I said, the gas control knob was loose. They sent out a company by the name of Gator appliance repair, whose technician then proceeded to evaluate the problem, and long story short he broke the knob.
We asked Gator what they were going to do about it, and they responded and said they wouldn't do anything because it was a pre-existing condition. The tech could clearly see that it was a pre-existing condition and that the stove was not new, but did what he did anyways and voila we don't have a working stove anymore! We then called American Home shield (numerous times) and after speaking to them on 5 different occasions they proceeded tell us that we were shit out of luck because like I said it was a pre-existing condition. We explained that we knew this, as did the tech that it was pre-existing, but regardless it worked just fine, it was just loose, so there you have it. American Home shield is a horrible company who hires garbage subcontractors to go into people's homes and then when something like this happens, they tell you to pound sand!

My dishwasher broke three months ago, and despite numerous calls and repeated assurances that the issue had been “resolved” or “escalated,” nothing was actually done. Today, I was informed that they closed the ticket entirely—even though my dishwasher is still broken—because they were given inaccurate information by the appliance repair company they sent. This is a Tuesday and they couldn't get anyone out til Friday. So Friday come they come out to tell me I need a new HWH. They have to order it and it will take 3-5 business days because of the bureaucracy of getting it cleared with American Home Shield.
Mind you, I still don't have hot water. So finally Tuesday come the following week, they approve the work, oh and the contractor they used here Richmond, Va, was "Discount Contractors LLC".... These people had the audacity to tell me that I have to pay them $3450 to modify my gas, water, & flue lines to install the new water heater to fit, that American Home Shield will not cover those modifications, just the replacement of the HWH.
HOW?! If you are installing tank for tank. Oh I had called the manufacturer of old tank for the model of their current model tank that's an exact fit and they gave e me the model number. But Discount Contractors insisted that no matter what I will still need the modifications and building code modifications. And I'm not trying modify anything on my house if it don't need it. And if I go with their logic, sometime down the road this one breaks, I will have to modify my lines again for ANOTHER HWH for $3450. Because they said it's never plug and play. So I called another plumbing company for a 2nd opinion. They said all of my lines and flue are up to code and no modification is necessary if swapping out tank for tank. So I asked American Home Shield could I used them, they said NO, because that particular plumber isn't in their network.
So they gave me another plumber in their network called Lockhart Plumbing & Remodeling and will only honor their 2nd opinion. I called them, when they found out I was with American Home Shield, Family! he gave me all of the business.. He told me he wants to stop dealing with them because they rip his customers off. He explained that if I go thru American Home Shield for him to do the work, that American Home Shield will make him charge me for the modifications because that's how he gets his money back for replacing my HWH.
If his 2nd opinion say that I don't need the modifications, they will pull the work order from him and give it back to Discount Contractors LLC who would be willing to charge me the $3450 for the lines modifications. So if Lockhart plumbing don't charge me for the modifications then he will be stuck with the bill for the HWH. Because he would have to buy it himself. And the line modification is how he gets his money back and in the end American Home Shield never actually spends a dime. So in theory I would have still ended up paying for my own new HWH and repair under the illusion that I'm actually covered, and American Home Shield not pay a dime.
So how this got rectified was Lockhart told to take "Cash Out" offer from American Home Shield. That's the other option American Home Shield gives you if you don't want either plumber to do the work. They give you money to find your own contractor. Get this Family... they were only willing to pay me $750. The dayum HWH itself is $1900 yet alone parts and labor. So basically in theory they are refunding me my money I paid to get their warranty. That's about what it cost when I bought it.
So me & Lockhart Plumbing worked out a deal since in the end I was going to end up paying $3450 anyways if I used American Home Shield, He will charge a little less than that and apply the $750 they give back to the bill he gives me. If you are in the Richmond Va area and you call American Home Shield for plumbing repair, Discount Contractors LLC & Lockhart Plumbing & Remodeling are the only ones they use in this area and Lockhart is trying to let them, go...so be warned family. Get as far away from American Home Shield as you can possibly get. They are a scam.

Absolutely horrible experience. We paid for well pump coverage for years prior to our pump going out. We were told we would receive a call within 24 hours. Did not hear from American Home Shield for 2 weeks. When they called 2 weeks later, they still did not have a service provider to dispatch. I found my our service provider to repair and finally restore water to our home. The service was completed the same day he came out to inspect. I was then told that they would not reimburse because they did not give approval prior to the repair. Absolutely a shameful scam to take money from families in the form of premiums knowing they have no provider to complete work if needed. And then to use contract details to also avoid paying reimbursement. I could not recommend this company less.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It's very disheartening to hear about the long wait and the inconveniences you experienced when trying to get your well pump repaired. Every experience I've been with American Home Shield has been a disappointment thus far. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
The person that showed up from Duncan’s Heating and Cooling was dressed in street clothes, didn't have a work truck and didn't bring a bag of tools in with him. He brought in what looked like canned air. He went down to the furnace for about two minutes. My wife heard him spraying whatever the can was. Then he talked on his phone for five minutes and came up, checked that there was air coming out of a vent, and said we were all set, and off he went. For $100, it was just the two minutes that he was there. I could put spray on my furnace.
My experience with tuning and cleaning the furnace is that they take it apart a bit and clean things out which typically takes 45 minutes to an hour. They'll bring their meters with them, check the filter and the efficiency of your furnace. None of those things were done.
So I called American Home Shield and they said that spraying it for two minutes is what cleaning is. I said that I would like an invoice that shows the work that they did. I couldn't get one and they wouldn't give me a refund. I also got a call from them advising me that they already sent $100 to Duncan Heating and Cooling.
I called Duncan Cooling and Heating and the guy asked me what I wanted. I asked for an invoice of work that was done, yet he wouldn't offer that. He asked what else I wanted and I said that I'd like somebody to come out and do an actual maintenance on my furnace. He said that we were not gonna be able to work together as we were not on the same page. It's just mind-blowing that he defended that that is what maintenance is. I asked for my 100 bucks back to which he said he’ll send it back. That was a little over two weeks ago and I haven't seen my 100 bucks.
There was nothing wrong with my furnace to begin with. They just recommended to have somebody come out, do maintenance to help make it last longer and identify if there was something wrong. But there's still dust all over the outside of the furnace. Not that necessarily cleaning the outside is part of a tune and clean, but you still think they would wipe down the outside of it too.
I've been too busy, but I'd like to go to the Better Business Bureau and put a complaint in there and dispute the charges on my credit card. There’s no invoicing to what was done because it would be an embarrassment from the heating company that they'd say they sprayed air for a minute and a half or two minutes and that was doing the job which was not.
I've tried to use them for other services. We bought our house two months ago and they offered rekeying for 100 bucks which I thought was not too bad. We came up with 100 or 125 and we were waiting. Finally, I just see I got a refund. So I called them and said that I didn't ask for a refund. They said that they couldn't find anybody in our area to do it.
The third thing was when our washing machine wasn't working. I paid the 125 and the soonest appointment for somebody to come out was a week. To me, that seemed a bit long. I looked up on YouTube the problem with the error code that it had and I ordered a part that was needed and fixed that myself. And then, there was water coming out of the wall where our well pump pipe comes out. It wasn’t gushing, just a steady leak, so probably a gallon of water in total. But the warranty doesn't cover water that's coming through the wall along the pipe. It only covers if something is wrong in the pipe.
I called AHS to cancel because I don't see the point of their warranty. I told them that if ever I have no heat and it takes them two weeks to send somebody out to fix it, that's not exactly helping out. I would still need to call somebody else to come out within a couple of days if I have no heat. I'm sure there's somebody out there that benefitted, but it just seems like a service put together to profit from the premiums that are paid.

American Home Shield has been efficient and timely. Getting a claim started through the app was seamless. I have an ongoing repair of a washer and dryer and I was told bearings needed to be replaced. It's a partnership with Sears. They came out the first time and I assumed that it was fixed. Maybe three days later, I'm still having the same issue. I got someone to come back out. They told me that they would do the job over. It wasn't done properly. I still have the parts and I'm still waiting for the second round of repairs.
The very first appointment went well. It was initial diagnostics. The second appointment is when the repair work began. That one took a few reschedules to actually get someone to come out. But American Home Shield is doing their part. If it wasn't repaired this time, I do plan on reaching out to them and see how we would handle that given that I did pay the deductible to have it repaired.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield. We’re thrilled to hear that you found the app user-friendly and efficient in managing the claims process. I had American Home Shield before for a little over a year, and then I switched to another company. Then AHS was doing a promotion so I switched back to them. Since I've owned my home, I've had some kind of home warranty. Since I went through my divorce, I got the warranty because I'm a single mom. It's a good idea to have a warranty if you don't have a husband. I don't wanna to not have it.
Initially, the claim with the washing machine was sent to PSR. They never showed up. I couldn't get ahold of anybody and they weren't replying to texts. I called back to AHS, and they had the Maintenance Medic person come. Before they even looked at the washing machine, he was like, “You need to do X, Y, Z.” I said, “I really was hoping that you could take a look at it because that's what I paid the warranty for.” He then told me that the first guy had a car wreck. That's how I knew about it. He was talking down on him and it’s unprofessional.
He then said, “Get a leaf blower and blow everything from the inside out. That'll clear the vent and the dryer will work better.” I asked if he can take a look at the washing machine. He looked at it but didn't take any of the panels off. He said, “For it to be this amount of water, that means there's a broken drum. It will have to be replaced. It's normal wear and tear.” He was here for five minutes but didn’t look inside the washing machine. He didn’t even look at the dryer.
When he left, I called the AHS. They called him and he told them the same thing. When I got the warranty claim, it said that it's not normal wear and tear. That's crazy because that's not what the gentleman told me, so I called him. He was very disrespectful. I said, “Sir, you told me that it was normal wear and tear.” He was like, “Lady, I've been doing this a long time.” He yelled at me and hung up. It was ridiculous.
So I called the warranty, and they had a third person assigned to come out and take a look. But I was told if it is not normal wear and tear, I have to pay $125. I said I'm fine with that. The third person came and took the panel off. They found that it wasn't a broken drum at all. It was just rusted springs, and the drum had fallen.
I appreciate the service from AHS. It's just the maintenance person. I don't want that man to ever come back again. What could be improved is those independent people. He was not knowledgeable and didn't know what was going on. He didn't take any time, too. He was terrible and I don't want them. The last person who came was from a company. He was reputable and did the actual work. They were great. So I would have them come back through the warranty, but I'm sure that's probably a little more pricey.
It takes forever to get somebody to come out. With the washing machine, I ended up buying another one because of the amount of time it was taking. For three representatives, it took three months to finally get the problem diagnosed. By the time they got the new parts, I had the new washing machine for about a month. If you have the time to wait, then it works out great. My dishwasher went out a couple of years ago when I had them the first time. They had somebody come and fix the dishwasher. It took two weeks for them to come out, then two weeks for the part.

I just moved into this house in July and all of a sudden, I’ve had multiple issues. I had an AC, refrigerator, and oven issue and had a handful of individuals come by.
The technician repaired my refrigerator, but had to come out three times within two weeks. They either didn’t bring the part or got the wrong one. When they came out the last time, they finally had the correct part and resolved the issue. Everything's working well. The technician was skilled and extremely helpful. He was considerate of the miscommunication and the lack of initiative to order the correct parts.
I was still waiting for my oven to be repaired, and I ordered that one in September. But over the weekend, they offered me a replacement. They couldn't fix it after going through multiple vendors.
The oven I have is a Thermador. The original price was $10,000 and the cheapest equivalent I could find is around $6,000. They offered me $1,400, so I don't know what I'm gonna replace that. I haven't spoken to them since.
Then another issue was my AC. I called American Home Shield on a Saturday. By Monday, the vendor still didn't reach out so we had to call them. The earliest they could get to us was Wednesday. It was unseasonably hot during this timeframe, with an 80-degree weather.
When the technician finally did come out, he didn't know how to service the system. He was gonna go back to their shop and see if somebody else knows how to do it. So I asked when he’d be able to come back, 'cause my 90-year-old grandfather was coming in that same day. He said, “Yup, let me make a call and I'll let you know.” He didn't give me that information and just left the bottom half of my house unsecured. That was not cool.
My wife and I looked up a dealer. They came in the next day and fixed our system. I ended up paying about $7,000 out-of-pocket. I figured I could get the service fee for labor covered, but American Home Shield said they couldn't do it because it was an unauthorized assignment, even though I had the invoice and the receipts. They elevated that, and I spoke to the next person who just literally read verbatim whatever their policy is without having any kind of exceptions.
I've had American Home Shield since 2012 on one of my first rentals, and I've had a good experience ever since. The coverage and services they offered were exactly what I was looking for. But because of what's happened in the last few months, I probably will not be staying with them. The quality of people they assigned for maintenance have been subpar and American Home Shield as a whole has been pretty bad.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent experiences with American Home Shield. We sincerely apologize for the challenging situations you've faced, especially concerning the length of time it took to resolve your appliance and air conditioning issues, which was complicated by unresponsive contractors. We understand how daunting this all must have been, particularly with the urgent need due to personal circumstances.
While our digital interface and some interactions were positive, it's clear we missed the mark in certain crucial areas that are essential for your peace of mind. We regret that we couldn’t provide the flexibility you expected under the service plans, especially during the hot weather when timely repairs are critical.
Your feedback is invaluable to us. Should you have ongoing concerns or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team, who are standing by to ensure a reliable resolution.

They took over 72 hours to respond to a call for our water heater going out. We repeatedly called and were told it was with the Dispatch Department and that they could not find someone in the area to service a water heater. After my original call, they originally said they would engage a tech to come repair the water heater. 24 hours in and still no response other than it was with "Dispatch". I asked to speak with a dispatch manager or use my own plumber to be reimbursed and they said this could not be done. Every 12 hours I called, they said there was no news and that no one was available to do the job. I was charged $125 and they refused to refund it. I also asked for a refund on my warranty as I had to come out of pocket for a different plumber. They refused to refund my $800+ warranty payment so I had a credit card dispute.

I've spoken with representatives trying to get the problem addressed. They were good, except they really couldn't do anything except say that they needed to get ahold of the guy. As far as the contractor goes, they were all prompt. They did their job. They called me and scheduled it, so they upheld their bargain. But American Home Shield is just sitting on their loins and not taking care of me. They attempted to fix my stove, but the contractor couldn't do it.
He put a new heating element in it and the top was shot. It's a double oven and there's a crack in the door. He couldn't fix the oven and he was gonna notify the home warranty, which he did. Then they sent another guy out and he said that he wanted to know what was going on. I told him and he said they don't go after somebody else who's already been here so they canceled.
I contacted Home Shield and they said they were gonna send another guy out. So I was like, "You know what? Here it is Thanksgiving and I've turned this in over 30 days ago. And I'm busy." There was too much going on and I couldn't even get this taken care of. I was hoping to have it done before Thanksgiving but we had to make other arrangements. I had a large crowd come over and I couldn't even use my upper oven. I talked to somebody from Home Shield and they said they would take off my deductible as a courtesy. I said okay but if this third guy doesn't fix it, I wanted it replaced. They said he could do that.
Well, the third guy came by and he couldn't fix it either. I haven't had a chance to call and complain. And when I do, I can't even understand half of them. But I shouldn't have to go through all this. I'm very dissatisfied. Somebody should have handled this promptly. I know they probably have millions of policyholders. I get it. I understand the workload. But it's not like I'm dealing with the first guy. So supposedly, my problem was escalated. But here I am stuck, still not being completed, and no one bothered getting back to me. It's horrible right now. I'm still without an oven and no one's bothered calling me.
We appreciate you sharing your experience. We understand the frustration you've faced with having to make multiple calls to get your oven repaired, particularly during such a busy season. I didn’t even submit the serial numbers, but it worked out just fine. The appointment was set a few minutes after I made the payments for the service call. The contractor who came out was top-notch and very knowledgeable. He came the same week on both service calls and ordered the part before he left the house. He had confirmation that the parts were ordered and when he would receive them.
We only used our warranty one other time, and that was for hot water heaters. That was also a really good experience. The only thing, American Home Shield is expensive. It's $79 a month. But it's great service.

I had a bad water heater. The first contractor that came one was HomeMeister. Absolutely horrible. They took forever and they billed me for stuff that I didn't need. We got sideways. They fired me.The first tech that came out stated that my mom says the hot water is working just fine. I asked if they looked at the water heater. I said, "You don't see that big rip down the side of it?" and they go, "Oh, I see it now." It's kind of obvious. You open up the door and you see it.
Also, they wouldn't wait for me even though I said somebody would be there. They wanted to reschedule and I lost it. I was absolutely miffed at them. They took four days to get back to me.Then they came out and wanted to bill me for stuff that I knew I didn't need. On top of that, the water heater was free as it was under warranty. They sent me a bill for 450. To put in a water heater? And she goes, "Well, the good news is your water heater is free." That really miffed me. That's when they cancelled on me and sent me back to AHS. So I would not recommend HomeMeister at all. Zero stars.
American Home Shield was fine but they did everything behind my back and didn't reach out to me after I was fired by HomeMeister. Got me another company, Absolute Plumbing, and those people were phenomenal.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize for the issues you encountered. We understand the frustration caused by the delay and miscommunication from our contractor, HomeMeister. It's disheartening to hear about the attempts to charge for unnecessary services and the disregard for your warranty coverage. We appreciate you informing American Home Shield of this, allowing another service provider to step in and ultimately resolve your issue efficiently.
We value your feedback and patience throughout this process. If you have further concerns or additional information you wish to provide, please feel free to contact us directly.

The refrigerator’s indoor water dispenser and ice machine were not working. I knew that it must have been a water filter but I wasn't sure. I'm not in this house very often to troubleshoot. Sears was assigned, and there was three or four hour window in which they were supposed to be showing up. They did not get there nor did they communicate when they were on their way there.
When the window closed, I was like, "Where are they?” This was a second home for me and I was leaving in a day or two and I wanted to get the repair done. I went on to the American Home Shield website and was frustrated because I couldn't reach anybody or get an update on their arrival time. Then they showed up half an hour later.
I asked the two guys, “What's the story? I never got any timeline or update that you were coming. I couldn't reach you." They said, “Between AHS and Sears, all is going to artificial intelligence. We don't know what's going on or what people are calling in or asking. They don't tell us anything." They were in the dark as I was. AHS also asked me a million times about the make and model number of my refrigerator. I submitted it multiple times, but the guys had no idea what I had. I was like, "I said it was a Whirlpool."
It's so nice to talk to a human but so many things these days are automated. I go online saying, “How do I contact this?” or “How do I send an email or text?" I had gotten a bajillion texts about this appointment saying, "Are you gonna be there?" But when I tried to connect or went online to get a customer service number, I just couldn't do it.
One of Sears guys flipped open a door at the bottom of the refrigerator, which I didn't even know, and popped out the filter. As soon as he did that, all the water was flowing. Everything worked. It looked like a 30-second job. He didn't replace the filter 'cause I need to order one.
AHS has gotten expensive. For a new or a second homeowner who doesn't have access to knowing a lot of repairmen or service providers in an area, AHS could make sense. But if you're living in a neighborhood full-time, it seems overpriced. Once I got my refrigerator fixed last month, I canceled it. I’ve owned this house since 2016 but don't heavily use it. I'm paying over $100 a month, but I could break a sweat and reach out to more neighbors and find repair people.
Hi,
Thank you for providing a detailed account of your experience with American Home Shield and Sears. We're deeply sorry for the challenges you faced during the service call, especially the missed arrival times and communication gaps. Adjusting to more automated systems isn't an excuse for lack of clarity, and we appreciate you highlighting these areas for improvement.
While we're pleased to hear that the eventual resolution by the technicians was successful, this situation should have been handled more promptly and smoothly.
Thank you again for your candid feedback. Taking the time to share your experience enables us better serve each day.

It was a very terrible experience. I lost two days work. They scheduled an appointment to replace my unit. They called me that morning to tell me that they couldn't come and I had already taken off work. So I lost a day's work and didn't get anything done.
Then they rescheduled it to the following week. They gave me a time frame, and then called back later and said they made a error in the time because they couldn't go in the attic until 1:00 because it's too hot. I talked to American Home Shield about it, but there was nothing they could do about it. But they replaced the unit.

If I could give this company negative stars I would -- it honestly feels like I've been scammed. I've been paying AHS for 2 years without incident, yet of course, when the time comes, there is an excuse as to why they can't be helpful, and nobody really seems to care. I have been living (in the winter months) without hot water for almost 3 weeks now, despite a water heater replacement being one of the things that the Company clearly outlines as a covered service. Once you pay the required service fee, you are assigned one of the AHS partner companies to come assess and complete the repairs. Well, of course, AHS chooses partners who complete the work for the cheapest because they are illegitimate. My "partner" company doesn't have a valid website, and the phone number goes to a cell phone.
The repairman told me he would come on the Monday after my heater broke, he didn't show up until Wednesday: strike 1. Then, on Wednesday, he showed up (2 hours past the rescheduled time he texted to say he would arrive), spent 15 minutes in my home, and told me my water heater was broken and that I would need a brand new one. Cool? No. For some reason, after that, he never sent AHS the assessment, and has ghosted both me and AHS since (for almost 2 full weeks now). AHS is saying there is nothing they can do since they assigned the work to him in their system, and that I just need to wait until we can reach him for his assessment. So basically I'm playing a waiting game, in December, without anything but ice cold water in my home. They made sure to process my monthly fee as I've been waiting, though. Absolutely awful, I wouldn't recommend them if they were the last warranty provider on earth.

The representatives of AHS are always fine, but American Home Shield, as a company itself, and the way that they handle their warranties, are less than par. They should honor the warranties that they offer. Instead, they hire the lowest budget contractors to come out, to give the least possible diagnostic so that American Home Shield doesn't have to incur any cost.

American Home Shield has completely failed to honor their contract, and their behavior has been nothing short of outrageous. My 50-gallon water heater ruptured, flooded my home, damaged my ceiling, and forced me to leave my home during Thanksgiving. Instead of helping, AHS has spent their time trying to weasel out of their responsibility. Their contractor confirmed the water heater failed due to normal wear and tear, yet AHS tried to charge me hundreds of dollars in “non-covered” items that are clearly listed as covered in my plan. Then they offered a cash payout so low it wouldn’t cover even half the cost of replacement.
I’m currently displaced from my home, dealing with damage and uncertainty, because AHS refuses to honor the very coverage I pay for every month. This feels like a blatant breach of contract and bad faith. I would strongly caution anyone from relying on AHS to protect their home because when disaster strikes, they will look for every possible loophole to AVOID paying or replacing covered appliances.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I sincerely apologize for the distress and disruption this situation has caused. It is concerning to hear about the extensive damage and the difficulty you've encountered with your coverage. We are committed to making this right and resolving the issues surrounding your claim promptly. Please allow us the opportunity to review your account details closely. My experience has been unnecessarily frustrating after 23 years of paying for American Home Shield. The plumbing company was great, but we had one before that from American Home Shield that was horrible. The garbage disposal broke. The Gardner Plumbing guy came out, looked at it and said it's worn out. It was a rusted tube, so he had to put a new one in. It was an older one.
We put our claim through an automated phone system. That was fine. I was a little worried that AHS might send the company out that they had sent for something else a few months before that was horrible. You can't talk to the person until they call you back and say you've been assigned to this company. I told my wife that company and they had been out on a different issue years before, and she was excited. They're a very good company. Gardner Plumbing is very ethical, and the guy that came out was very polite. It takes a while to get AHS to get somebody out, but they come out when they say, and it got fixed. The guy went through it easily.
We have a running issue with AHS where I had the washing machine. It was 23 years old, it broke and flooded the downstairs of our house. It did $20,000 of damage. I called AHS. It took them almost a week to have somebody come out. And when they came out, the guy said, “This is worn out. It can't be fixed. Sorry, the machine's just too old. There's no sense to spend money on parts on it. It has too big of a problem.” I asked, “Is it gonna be replaced?” They said yes. However, we got a letter a week later. I was overseas, so I didn't know that they denied the claim. We said, “How could you deny the claim? Your guy from Accord Appliance.” There are thousands of complaints against them. They have a 1.5 rating. It's mind boggling how AHS would even use them.
AHS decided to deny the claim, saying it was customer abuse. I don't know how we can abuse a 23-year-old washing machine. And the fact that my insurance covered my water damage immediately. They looked at the machine and said, “It's broken right here and water's coming out.” We told AHS and they said, “The technician from Accord Appliance said that it was abuse by the customer.” It doesn't make any sense, and they denied it. I said, “Give me a copy of the report.” They said they would. They never did. That went on for two months. We never got a copy from Accord Appliance. We never got a copy from AHS who I repeatedly asked.
When I got back, I called them up and they said, “We denied it. That's it.” I didn't know if we could appeal it. They didn't tell us. I asked, “Can I get a manager?” “Nope. The report says it's denied.” I called the credit card company, AmEx. “What do I do?” They said, “You know you shouldn't have to pay the $100 fee.” We put that through and AHS did not fight it, but we found out that they billed us every month but turned off our policy. I had to jump through hoops to get the account turned on even though they billed us every month. When we had the garbage disposal come out four months later with this great plumber, AHS said, “We can't schedule anything. Your account is frozen because you called your credit card company and had the $100 taken back.”
I said, “Yes, and I told you the situation.” I asked, “You guys understand you've been billing me for three months in a row but not giving me any coverage?” They got quiet. They went back and forth somewhere. They came back and said, “As a one-time courtesy, we'll waive that $100.” It was not good of them to turn our coverage off while still billing us and they never told us. When they finally said, “Okay. We'll let the plumber come out,” the plumber came out. He did his job. He was quick, efficient, and polite. It was a good experience. But to this day, we never got paid on the claim for the washing machine. We had to buy another one.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield. It's concerning to hear about the issues you encountered with your washing machine claim and the subsequent challenges you faced. I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this process has caused, especially with the complication of billing matters. Your feedback highlights areas where we can certainly focus for improvement. I invite you to reach out so we can evaluate your situation in detail. Our goal is to provide the reliable service expected from us, and we’d value the opportunity to work toward resolving your concerns. Please let us know how we can be of assistance moving forward.

Two of the burners were not working. One of them wasn't getting hot like it used to. It used to get really hot when you had it on high. The other one just didn't work at all. You couldn't turn the knob. I called American Home Shield to file a claim, and they said that they would call someone in the area, which was Aurora Appliance. However, the repairman didn't have a full grasp of the English language so I had to go over it again very slowly and tell him what the problem was, and he seemed to understand.
When he looked at everything, he said that he had to order some parts, and that I would hear from them in three to five business days. But it was longer than that before I heard from them. When he came back, I thought he was going to bring burners or something to fix the stove, but he said it wasn't the burners, it was the knobs that needed to be replaced. He replaced all of the knobs, and he was right. As soon as he put the new knobs on, all of the burners started working again. We thought it was gonna be burners and that it would be an expensive job. I was glad it wasn't because I didn't want the whole stove to have to be taken apart.
I had also called American Home Shield because of the oven. They sent someone out very quickly. It was only a day or so I waited. They came and said it was the element. They took the whole stove apart in order to fix it, but it was fine. The technician who came to do the work was really good. He knew his stuff. He was able to take that oven apart and put it back together. I was very impressed.

The dryer heating element wasn't working, so it wasn't drying at all. I file a claim online. The website was relatively easy to navigate. The contractor was really good. The tech was knowledgeable and thorough. He showed up on time and fixed the issue. I've had a spectrum of experiences with contractors that American Home Shield provided. The timeliness is really good, but more options for contractors when it comes to different things is important. There's a limited availability of contractors. So it would be good if American Home Shield could continue to update and upgrade their available contractors and evaluate them.
American Home Shield makes it easy to get repairs done. They also make it easy to do the discovery work for contractors. They're a little bit more expensive than I would like, but overall worth it. In general, I'm overall satisfied with the timeliness and getting problems done. Every once in a while, there's a contractor who really doesn't solve the problem and you have to go back to the well. I had two plumbing things with American Home Shield. One at Pine Drive where I had a leak in my basement on one of the plumbing pipes. I submitted my claim late on a Friday and I heard back from the techs that Tuesday. My other claim was at Pamela Drive where the stopper wasn't working in the shower. The techs called me for an appointment the next day after I filed my claim with AHS. Submitting the claims was easy and both of them were assigned to Pro Service. The techs were named Joe and Keith. They were both wonderful and they knew what they were doing.
The guy who came out to the property at Pamela Drive was pretty cool. He was technical with it because it was going to end up being some long process possibly of having to cut pipes and do all this crazy stuff. But he got in there and took a look at it. He ended up realizing that just this one piece that was in there was too long, so it was getting caught. So, all he had to do was cut it back. So rather than it be this crazy cost of whatever, he was able to fix it really easily, and now it works great. All in all, I appreciate American Home Shield getting people out that quickly to do that stuff, and not costing $3000 or having to even have to fight a plumber to get over to your house or any person who needs to do work. It was efficient and I didn't have to go through all that hubbub.

When you're a new owner of a house, American Home Shield used to send out a locksmith and change the keys on your house. But all of a sudden, now they're charging $100 for the same service. But the guy who came out was very good. It turned out I had nine locks that had different keys for them because the previous owner installed locks but he didn't rekey them. But he was able to change all those locks to accommodate the same key and then he left me four blank keys. He walked me through it and we checked every lock with his keys before he left. It was very good.
The service with American Home Shield simplifies your life in that if you have a technical problem with the systems in your house, you don't have to search through the Internet and try to find somebody that can fix your problem who you don't know and whose background you don't know and whose credentials you don't know, and you can't trust any of the reviews you read on the Internet. Whereas you can make one call to American Home Shield and they will assign a qualified person who's vetted and who is experienced in that particular service area.
My only complaint is a lot of these vendors get into a project and then they think American Home Shield is not paying them enough, and so they tell you, “Oh, if you want me to finish this project, you need to pay me additional amount of money.” This has happened to me several times. I had a water heater put in in the attic, and the vendor said, “Well, if you want us to finish this job, you need to pay us $1,000.” Then I had another issue where I had a pipe leak and it was in the ceiling above the bathroom. A bathroom on the second floor was leaking into the bathroom on the first floor. The technician did a good job of finding where the leak was coming from but they said, “Oh, if you want me to fix it, it's another $450.”

The first company that American Home Shield sent out wasn’t worth two cents. They looked at our toilet and said that it was the floor that was the problem. We were also having a problem with having to hold the toilet handle down to get it to flush and to fill back up, and he didn't even look at that. 24 Mechanical Group did the last service call on it and they did a good job. The only problem is they didn't turn the valve fully on in the toilet. The toilet is filling all the way up but it sits off to the side and you can see where the caulking is. When you sit on the toilet, you almost feel like you're gonna fall on the ground because it rocks back and forth. Now, it doesn't rock anymore, but you can tell that it's not where it's supposed to be on the floor.
We've been here going on eight years and we had it fixed when we first got here by a certified plumber. But we didn't have a warranty yet. We paid to have it done and I watched him repair it so I know what he did. So, I called American Home Shield and told them about the first contractor and that I never wanted them back. So, they sent the other group back. I like the second company that AHS sent out. The guy was nice, but he didn't speak any English. So, he had a translator on his phone. He didn't seem to take an interest in the floor. He rocked the toilet and it's sitting but you can see that it's not right.
American Home Shield doesn't return your calls. I've left messages and they returned my call about a month later. The plumbing company that came out called back on it, and I told them to hold until I find the valves because of the filth. As for the floor problem, I would have loved to have had them take the toilet off and look, but the company wanted to go to that extreme.
Hello Joseph and Mrs Wisman,

We had Frosty Air come out first for a tune-up. We hadn't turned the heater on yet. He was going back and forth from the outside unit to the inside unit, and he said the unit looks good but the thermostat was bad. He gave me his card. He told us to contact American Home Shield and that we were gonna have to pay $125. I tried to get them to come back out again, but American Home Shield gave me Woodard Mechanical. I paid my fee and the tech said Frosty Air was correct. So, he put a new thermostat in for us, and it's been working great.
As far as American Home Shield, I like the convenience of everything and how easy it is for me. When I call them, too, I never get any attitude. I get really friendly people and they're easy to understand on the phone, which is a big thing to me because I'm halfway deaf in my left ear. The vendors that they send out are great. I'm liking them all. They're all very sweet. They talked very highly about AHS, too. They all said, "This is a great contract for us. We're glad that we're part of American Home Shield."
Warm regards,

I requested service online and this particular guy that came out was really good. Normally, my claims are completed pretty quickly. However, the price has really gone up quite a bit, like five times, and that's a lot. I've had American Home Shield for years, and I used to pay quite a bit less. When I would tell people the price, they would say they probably wouldn't do it. But though it's not an inexpensive thing, it is convenient and quicker. I don't have a lot of time to be searching for service techs in various avenues of home care. American Home Shield does that for me. 85% of 20+ years that I've had them, I've been satisfied.
Warm regards,
Marc

As for AHS’s customer service, they understand. They get the issue, but sometimes there are missed connections. Sometimes when I call the customer service, they tell me, “Contact the provider for the service." The issue is, some providers have automated lines and nothing gets done. You can't reach out to them at all. But I consider AHS to be good. I like their warranty service.
Warm regards,

I have given positive reviews every time American Home Shield would send someone out. I've posted on Better Business Bureau and I always tell people to go with them. I've been with them for six years and they do good work. Their techs have always showed up on time and they've always fixed my issues. But this time, I made a call for a washing machine repair on November the 13th, and the people they assigned couldn't get to me for about a week. Then when they came, they had to order the panel. I waited another week for that to come in and the guy put it in yesterday. But we had that storm here in Birmingham and I had no power, so he had no way of testing it. I washed two loads today and it has stopped completely again. But I'm not washing heavy loads. All I had in the machine when it stopped was two pair of jeans and a sweatshirt.
So, I asked them to come back. The lady from the contractor told me that their tech couldn't come until December the 3rd. But at the time, I had washing to the ceiling. Also, I've had to infringe on other people, go to their home, and do my laundry. I've asked American Home Shield if they would compensate me for this month's service charge that's done on my credit card, but their rep said they couldn't do that. She was very nice though. I was very short with her and I had to apologize because I was just full of the issue.
She told me that this machine has been on recall. She even called the appliance place to see if they could bump me up, but they couldn't or they said they didn't have a spot. I understand that there are other people who made calls that need service, but since mine's a repeat with the same thing, they should put me to the top of their list. The tech who worked on my machine was very nice. In fact, he only lives 10 miles away from me, so I would be a close person to come by and work on. But American Home Shield's rep was probably not forceful enough to tell the contractor to prioritize me. She was so soft spoken.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've experienced. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

King of Clogs was wonderful. There was a drip coming from the master bathroom and it was dripping down into the basement. They cleared that up and called and made sure that it was okay after the job was done. There was something wrong with the kitchen sink, too. They had to replace the faucet. As far as submitting claims to American Home Shield, we make a phone call and make an appointment. It's often easy but you can be waiting on the phone for a while. They inevitably try to please us, though, and the quality of contractors that they've sent was over the top.
We're thrilled to hear about your positive experience and are glad that King of Clogs delivered excellent service for your plumbing needs. It's reassuring to know our contractors have met your expectations by being thorough and proactive. We appreciate your feedback regarding the claim processing time, and we’re continually working to reduce wait times on calls. Your willingness to recommend our services and your advice on areas for improvement are both incredibly valued. Thank you for kind insights, and please reach out if you need any further assistance.

The hot water went out in my combi boiler. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. Supreme Heating & Air came out in less than a day. They were terrible. There was no communication from them. There were no paperwork or anything from them that they fixed the problem the first time. They did not do a thorough enough job, and the hot water went out again very quickly. They came and did a patch job, and said we would have intermittent hot water until they could get the new piece in. That took about a week. I had asked them to give me a quote for another cleaning of the system, and then they called and said that was required and that it was about 500 something dollars. I had gotten it done for cheaper before, so I said I didn't want that. They told me it was a requirement or they would not come back and replace the piece that they were contracted to replace.
Their communication was not clear. I did not know that that much had to be done to replace the piece they were replacing. Otherwise, I would have agreed. They were very rude about it when I talked to them about it, and I told them my concerns. After the job was complete, I thought everything was done. I got a text message from them saying that we need to schedule the cleaning, which did not make sense to me because they said they had to do that to be able to replace the piece.
I got on the phone and called American Home Shield and they transferred me to the owner or someone for the collection of the company, and they immediately accused me of dodging their calls and text messages to not pay them the extra money that I owed them from my end. I had not received any calls or text messages saying I owed them anything at that point. I was under the assumption they had to come back again from the other text message I had received so I didn't want to pay them if they hadn't done it. I hadn't gotten any invoice or any kind of communication at all from them after they had left. It was probably the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor.
I did end up paying them the extra money that they said I owed, which is fine. I would have paid them that day if they had asked or said anything. I figured I would get an invoice for it, which I never got. He could never prove anything, like he said he could screenshot a picture of the text message saying I owed an invoice, but I never received it and anything on my phone from him except for another text message saying I had to schedule that.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with the service. Your feedback highlights important issues that do not align with the level of service we aim to provide. We've noted your concerns regarding poor communication and unexpected charges imposed by the contractor. Please be assured that we take these matters seriously and will evaluate our practices to prevent future occurrences. At American Home Shield, we appreciate your recognition of the swift claim process. If there's anything further we can assist with, please don't hesitate to reach out. American Home Shield is horrible. I had an issue with the icemaker of my refrigerator, which ended up being a plumbing issue. We got this straight. Then I had an issue with the switch in my kitchen that went out. I called American Home Shield for electrical service and they sent in a company from wherever. Their guy pulled my dishwasher out three times, trying to find the problem. Then his company wanted to charge me an extra $300 saying they had to break the wall and fix the issue. But when I asked if they were going to fix my wall after they break it if I gave them the $300, and turned out that they were going to keep it for themselves.
So, I called American Home Shield and told them about this issue. American Home Shield later sent me an email telling me that I had to sign this agreement to pay the $300 for them. But that's part of the cost of the job they were doing, it shouldn't be the cost of the homeowner. So, I didn't feel that was right. But to make a long story short, I called back the contractor, DGM Electrical, and told them that I had my friend from Virginia who looked at the situation and said that they didn't have to break the wall to fix the issue. I also asked them to send another guy out here. Someone who could speak English and didn't have to use a translator.
So, he sent another guy out and this time two guys came out. I told them what my friend said and that all they had to do was take the receptacle off, run the wire either from the basement or from upstairs from the top down, go out to the electrical box, and do what they needed to do. And they didn't have to take that dishwasher out anymore. The gentleman listened and did what I told them. Then they resolved the issue. Since then, everything on my electrical receptacle, has been working properly.
Also, I have called the contractor three times to get a printout of the work that they did in my home and I have not gotten it yet. I keep a file of all the work done in my house by certified licensed people so that when I get ready to sell my house, I got all my documents. I've tried to reach American Home Shield but nobody answers the phone. They have an hour to two hours wait every time I call. Other than that, American Home Shield does what they say they're going to do about getting you somebody to fix your stuff and replacing it. But they need to reevaluate some of these contractors that they got.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the issues and inconvenience you faced with the service on your kitchen switch and refrigerator's ice maker. It's concerning that multiple visits were necessary and unsettling to hear about the initial quotation for breaking open walls, particularly when it was resolved later without such invasive measures.
We're grateful for the issues you've highlighted and commit to discussing them internally to improve our procedures and prevent similar situations in the future. Please feel free to reach out to our support team directly for assistance in obtaining your report or any other concerns.

I called American Home Shield for a dryer that wasn't drying my clothes. They sent out a repairman who was really good. My timer was off as well and he fixed what he did, ordered me the part, came back out a couple of days later, and everything was fine. American Home Shield is pretty fast in responding and giving me a call back. Everything's great with them. Their service is worth getting. A lot of people feel better paying out of pocket than spending $70 thinking what if nothing breaks, but for me, you may not use it right away, but eventually, you will.

I bought American Home Shield's services in the spring. They were clear about what they were covering and they also sent me a copy of the contract when I asked for it. They weren't pushy. They weren't trying to hard sell so I was satisfied with that. Recently, I had a dishwasher that stopped working and it gave me an error code about it not draining. The next day after I put the claim in, I got a call that a service guy was coming out. He came out and tried to fix it but couldn't. He had to order parts. About two weeks later, he came and installed the parts. But it was still a problem, and he said he had no idea about how to fix it. He then sent his report to American Home Shield. The next day after that, I got a call from another appliance repair person who came out about two weeks later. He fixed it, and it's been working fine.
It took a month or more to get the dishwasher fixed, so I was washing dishes by hand for that period. That wasn't very pleasant. I don't know if American Home Shield controls how busy their service reps are, but a little faster visit would have been nice. But I'm overall satisfied and I still would recommend American Home Shield. They were very responsive. They also offered a special for a furnace cleaning firm to come out and look at my furnace. I took advantage of that, and that went very well.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We appreciate you recognizing our efforts to resolve your dishwasher issue despite the initial delay. Our goal is to provide timely service, and while we're pleased that your dishwasher is now functioning as it should, your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement. We are thrilled your overall interaction with our customer service and the promotional offer for furnace cleaning enhanced your experience. Your positive recommendation means a lot to us, and we assure you efforts are continuous to streamline our processes. If you have any other needs in the future, please feel free to reach out.

For my most recent claim, a gentleman from Tru Tech came to my house. It only took them a day to get to me. He did some quick fixes when he was here, and none of those things worked. So, he ultimately determined that I needed a new thermostat. They ordered the thermostat. Someone came back within a week just because the scheduling wasn't working out in my favor. It was the same gentleman that came. He put the new one in. It didn't really take that long. He had to do something downstairs, and then the process took about 15 to 20 minutes. Everything is working.
Submitting a claim to American Home Shield, for whatever reason, is always difficult. I have to talk to a gazillion people. As far as the service, if American Home Shield could get their act together, it would be a lot easier. But the services that I've had lately have been good. I used to have a lot of problems with the contractors that they sent in the past, but they've been doing a much better job on that end now. Still, if they could make the process with getting claims a little bit more seamless, overall, it would be great.
We're glad to hear about your satisfaction with the recent service from Tru Tech Heating & Cooling and our contractors. We understand the claim submission experience with us has room for improvement, and we sincerely appreciate your feedback on how we can enhance this process. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any additional suggestions or concerns. We are looking forward to continuing to provide reliable service and better experiences.
