    The repair man was really friendly, fast, efficient, and did great work. The blower inside the house wasn't working, so it wasn't cooling the house. I told the repair man about the problem, and he said he thought it was a capacitor and talked to me about it. He went and replaced the capacitor, and everything's back to working condition. Overall, American Home Shield has an easygoing process, and I've recommended them to a few people I know. It's a good program to be a part of.

    American Home Shield did an AC tune up at the beginning of the year that didn't do anything. But I've had other AC tune-ups that were good in other years. The people came out for the washer but then it wasn't fixed. But I couldn't just call the company to fix it. I had to go back through American Home Shield and reopen the ticket, which they closed without confirming that the washer was fixed. But it was easy to reopen and then there's a guy coming back out tomorrow. I'm overall liking the washer repair cycle.

    Sears came out for my refrigerator and it wasn't cooling properly. The person who was working on it said he could not get the parts for it so he recommended that I get a replacement. He told me that he was going to call back American Home Shield to get this information to them. I'm still waiting for my refund check, which should come within the next week or so. This is the first experience I've had with AHS and it was excellent service. I was very pleased with it and the people I talked with were knowledgeable.

    I've had decent experiences with American Home Shield, but I had an issue with the request that I put in last week. I have a home that's on the market, and I had someone come and look at the dishwasher. When I put my request in, I just stated that the dishwasher wasn't working. The technician came out, identified that the water valve wasn't connected to the dishwasher, and turned that on. He gave me some suggestions on what should be done in the future to continue the life of the dishwasher. He also determined, because I just had granite countertops installed, that the brackets had not been reinstalled to connect the dishwasher to the countertop. He gave me the process for having that done.

    When I got the report back, it only stated that the problem hasn't been fixed because of the bracket. I contacted the countertop company, and I've asked them to come back out and do that piece. Because that's something that they should have done when they installed them. So that's no longer the issue. My issue is that when my buyer sees the report, he needs to see that the water valve wasn't turned on, the technician turned it on, and the machine is working. That has nothing to do with the connectivity of the dishwasher and the countertop. I called the company three times last week, and I contacted American Home Shield a couple of times. I said, ”Listen, I just need it to say what he said and what he did. That's it.”

    The only thing AHS keeps saying is, “Well, this is what they have. And this is what we're going with. And it's not covered.” I'm saying, “I don't need it to be covered. I just need everything that he did that day to be indicated on the report,” for the homebuyer. Nothing more, nothing else. “Hey, we can't fix the bracket. It’s not covered. But the technician noticed that the water valve wasn't turned on. He turned it on and the machine was operable.” I called American Home Shield and asked “Can you contact them? I've contacted them.” They said, “Well, the report stands on its own. There's nothing we can do. You can try to contact them if you like.” It was a very aggressive conversation.

    We have had situations with plumbing, including sewage backing up that American Home Shield didn't consider to be an emergency, but I did. We ended up paying for it ourselves because it was on a weekend, but they would not escalate it to an emergency call. I didn't like that very much. On the other hand, a recent repair for a refrigerator leak went well. AHS had a bit of a backorder on a part, but it was less than two weeks. And they repaired it. The techs were very professional, on time.

    American's price keeps going up on me. But I can't complain about the service I get for any time that I've called them. When I called them about my refrigerator, within two days, someone was here. Also, when I called them about my microwave, within two days, someone was here. The companies they have sent have been great.

    When my microwave went out, the tech said, “It’s scorched, so you need another one.” The next day, I got an email from American Home Shield asking me what microwave I want. If I want a certain one, there would be no cost. If I want to upgrade, they gave me three different ones that ranged from $10 to $25. Two days later, that microwave was installed.

    Recently, my unit wasn't heating like it was supposed to heat. Also, I could have it set on 73 but it would stay on 76 and sometimes go to 77. During the day, it would cool off to 75 but that's the best that it would do. But at night, the house was burning up. Getting through to them was easy. I told the contractor what the problem was and I didn't take longer than 10 minutes on the phone with them. When the company came, I got the tech's card because he was really good.

    1st Choice Appliance Repair has been out for two different things. They always give me a timeframe of when they're coming and they call when the technician knows exactly what time he's gonna be here. I don't have to wait for the whole time frame they give because they call with enough time for me to get back home or get there to meet them. I really like that. They also answer my questions and explain what the problem is or what might have caused it and how to prevent things from happening again.

    I'm very satisfied with AHS and I've used them in previous homes. It's $100 deductible, which is reasonable, because instead of me going through all the hassle, it costs me the same and if there's something else wrong, the repairman will know it and will be able to fix it. AHS covers major home systems as well as the appliances and between the premium and the things that I've had to have work on this year alone, it's been a good value.

    I did have a claim where I had someone come out and it was for something that wasn't covered. I ended up paying the deductible anyway so I was a little frustrated with that because I felt like it should have been a little clearer in the information as to what was covered. But the person showed me where it was so it was kind of on me. The service is great but make sure you read, know what you're getting, and that you understand what the coverage is.

    The people American Home Shield sends out do good sometimes but other times, they have sketchy people. I had one situation where I tried to get HVAC people to come out and it took them over a week to respond. Then, they wanted an all-day window to come out so I couldn't schedule around but then, they didn't show up. I called AHS and they said that they could see on the computer that the people were already there. The contractor reported that they were at my house doing the work but they were not. I told AHS that I don't want those people to come to my house because they're sketchy and it was a big pain to get them canceled. I'm not even sure if I ever got a refund on that.

    Also, I had a claim for them to fix my plugs and the repair wasn't covered because I didn't have a certain type of plug-in cover. There's a lot of weird nuances that AHS does to nickel and dime the client. They look for any excuse they can to get out of providing the service. I'm keeping them now so I don't have to cough up 15 grand if my AC ever goes out. But as far as the service itself, most of the time, I'm better off just getting my own service because I can pick and choose a contractor.

    My central airconditioner broke down 5/15/2022. Now over two months and American home shield has not finished the job by fixing it. I have had two different contactors and the last contractor makes no communication at all. The parts are not available. American home shield refuses to replace the unit. I call everyday and just get the run around with their overseas customer service. I do not recommend American Home Sheild. I have the platinum plan which is worth nothing since they refuse to get my ac fixed.

    We had an issue with our air conditioning but AHS didn't have anyone. The reason was they didn't have anybody that serviced high-rise condos. So we had to dig up one of our own, which wasn't that difficult and that went smoothly. I'm still waiting on reimbursement. I wish I didn't have to hunt for the AC thing. Because I live in Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States. It's like not having someone in Chicago that doesn't service high-rise buildings or New York. Because there are a lot of high-rise condos here. So it would have been nice if you guys had that on the panel. Also, it would be nice is if I had some way of knowing what my status was on that on their website. Island Mann Plumbing came out recently and the plumber was very nice and competent. He diagnosed it quickly and said, "I really can't help you." I'd rather that than do some work and then bill us. AHS is worth getting.

    The techs that came for my dishwasher were wonderful and they got it repaired. The sucker works like it's brand new. The tech was very nice. What really was nice was the secretary would call and tell me the part was ordered. They would tell me when it got there and when he would call when they set up a date for him to come in. I was included in everything. It was very nice.

    I also had a washer and dryer break down on me and that got repaired right away. It went really well. Then I had my refrigerator stop dispensing ice. That was the only problem I ever had. The company came out and looked at it. They were gonna order the part. They set up a time and then he called and said, “I'll be there shortly to work on it.” I waited but he never showed up. I called the company. I said, “Did something happen?” They said they canceled. I asked, “You never called me?” Nothing happened. They canceled because they said it was two parts, not one part they were replacing. They never told me it was two parts and two pieces had to be replaced. I kept calling back. After a while, they never answered their phone.

    I called AHS and they called them. They said, “The parts came in. Just wait for him to call.” I waited. Two months later, I called AHS back finally. They said, “They don't answer their phone.” I called AHS again three weeks ago. I said, “Can I set up with another company? ‘Cause look how long this has taken.” So, she set me up with another company. I had to pay my $75. I said, “Do I get my other 75 back?” But I didn't get an answer. She said that was too long ago. I would recommend AHS. There was just miscommunication with the refrigerator.

    I've been with them for almost five years and my very first experience was not very good but now, it's been amazing. I had two bad experiences but other experiences have been great. The service is timely and friendly and the customer service has been great. It's been a great help and benefit to me. Authorized Service came out for my dryer and it was great. They were in 15 minutes and I'm glad the dryer didn't have to be replaced. Also, it was a little sooner than they thought it was going to be, which was a plus. I didn't have to be without a dryer.

    Bell Appliance Services came out. They worked on the refrigerator. One of the codes posted an F1, which meant that the ice maker fan was out. I did the claim to American Home Shield over the phone. They told me the name of the company, gave me the contractor's name, and then told me that he would contact me, which he did. Everything worked out okay. The first call I made was for the microwave. They screwed that all up but so far, so good. They fixed it.

    I like American Home Shield. But the companies they deal with, some are good, some are bad. When I have a problem with my appliances, I want it taken care of because I pay American Home Shield money. But they keep going up and up. Also, they should send better people out here that know what they're doing and get the job done. If you don't know what you're doing, then you're not the right person for the job.

    American Home Shield sent somebody out three times for my dishwasher, to my displeasure, and I got charged $100. I didn't appreciate the company. I told American Home Shield not to ever send them to my house again. Don't send trash because trash goes in the garbage. I’m a veteran and everything is professional with me. If you’re having a bad day, send somebody else out. But the guy with Amtec Services is good. He’s been doing the job for 20 years. I wish I had him at first.

    I had claims for a dishwasher and a refrigerator and the tech was timely. He was nice and very professional. He didn't resolve the issue that day but he came back. I'm trying to figure out if he fixed the refrigerator but I'm feeling nimble about the dishwasher. I was having trouble with getting the cycle to run and it’s still having a little trouble. But it ran a cycle while he was here. It was a good experience and American Home Shield has been beneficial.

    I've had a few work orders so far and most of them have been handled fantastically. I'm very impressed. But one of them was not handled well and I had to fight with American Home Shield over and over again. We have a dual oven-microwave combination mounted on the wall and both of them were defective. They sent out a technician and he couldn't even get the parts. He tried to fix the oven but he didn't really fix it well.

    American Home Shield offered $1,500 to replace the unit and the cheapest one I could find was $2,900. They said they'd replace my unit with the exact same one if they could find it and not just credit 1500 but the full amount of whatever it costs. So I knew it was a scam. They just wanted to pay me the $1,500 and let me go on my way. That wasn't fair. So I called a number of times and finally talked to a higher-up person who ended up sending me a check for $2,925, which almost paid for it. It cost us $800 out of pocket to get it installed and everything because it was a real difficult job and there was some tax. AHS never intended to replace my unit. I looked at their options for a week or two and it kept saying, They were never intending to replace it. I looked for a week or two and it kept saying, “Unavailable. Unavailable.” But everyone else had it. That was extremely dishonest.

    We've had two work orders in a month. One was for our refrigerator and the company that they used was horrible at communication. They were rude and didn't even call back. I waited three weeks. They came and the tech said, "We can't do anything about this," even though it was his second visit to the house over the same problem. Supposedly, they had sent us an email but my husband and I never got it. The refrigerator was never fixed because the parts are apparently on backorder and just one thing after the other.

    Most recently, we had a plumbing issue. The plumber that came out said, "American Home Shield is not going to cover that." I said, "They wouldn't send you here if they're not covering it." That was an awful experience. It was back and forth. I called American Home Shield and I said, "Can we have our $75 back?" The agent from American Home Shield said because the plumber came into the house, that was the service call. I said, "Even if he didn't even look at the problem?" I'm still waiting on an answer to that. The work order is still open because nobody's responded to us. I'm really not happy with AHS.

    The service is good so far. I have an HVAC claim that somebody looked at yesterday. It's got to have original parts 'cause it's a variable speed motor that burned up. The techs have to get it approved through American Home Shield. If that goes well, it'll be good and I don't see any reason it wouldn't. I also had an ice maker claim too for the refrigerator and the tech fixed that.

    I had a bad experience on my first initial call with AHS. I reached out to my rep here in the Carolinas and to the rep down in Florida. They escalated it. Somebody was supposed to come to my house. I waited for him all day. They said they came and took a picture of the front door. I never saw them. I never heard them. He heard my dog and ran. The second gentleman that came out was awesome and very knowledgeable. When I ultimately got the service call, it was good. He addressed the problem. It was really simple. I appreciated it. If I need to have any other work done outside the warranty company, I will use him.

    My garbage disposal was backing up. The plumber was very professional and knowledgeable. He put his booties on and did everything he needed to do and corrected the issue. He had to rod it out but it works well right now. But the air conditioner issue is my big problem. The workmen were good but the unit itself needs replacement. No one from American Home Shield has called me back yet. They told me they have not gotten anything from the workmen. I've spoken with the contractor and they have turned in all their paperwork. That's where I don't understand what's going on. That's the biggest drawback I've had with American Home Shield.

    I'd love to recommend American Home Shield. It's the warranty I use and I want to speak off of that experience. But if I'm having issues, I can't honestly do that recommendation. I would love to see them call me back. Other than that, Every last customer service interaction I've had has been amazing. Their guys on the front line are 100% polite.

    American Home Shield has been responsive. Whenever I needed something, they sent somebody. Sometimes, not in the best timely manner, but most of the time, they do good. Recently, the faucet on the kitchen sink broke and the garbage disposal would stop intermittently. The first plumber they sent was a young kid, and he didn't know anything. They had to send out a second plumber, Keilly's Plumbing, and they were real good. I used to just disconnect and reconnect the garbage disposal, and the last guy that came up showed me where the reset button is. The other thing is that, sometimes, the garbage disposal makes a grinding noise, but he said that, at this time, he couldn't do anything because he didn't see it.

    The microwave was another ticket that I called for after that. Anytime I open the door, the fan would come on. There were a couple of little switches that needed to be taken out. I asked AHS for Coastal Appliances, because the first time they came out, they were really good, and Michael, the tech, was great. The second time, he came in and replaced the two switches. That way, if the other one came out, we wouldn't have to make a call. That's another one of American Home Shield's people that I would highly recommend. If AHS wants to have satisfied and happy customers, those are the people that they should use. Overall, I like American Home Shield, and I recommend it to people.

    Overall, it was a good experience from start to end. The only complaint that I have with the service provider, and I let the technician know, is that they came out on a Saturday. The guy was trying to get in contact with me because he was on his way to the property. It's an investment property. I don't live there. When I returned his call, it went to the office, but the office was off. So, I couldn't get in contact with the service provider. They did a great job. They were in and out. They fixed it quickly. But in the future, they need to ensure that they are available Other than that, it was an easy process. The HVAC technicians were very knowledgeable. They came in. They troubleshot it the right way. They isolated the issue within 30 minutes.

    American Home Shield was excellent. It was easy to use the website and request the service, and they got back to us right away and solved the problem. My brother lives in the house I own, and they had a backed up drain incident that was caused by a heavy storm. Gallagher Plumbing contacted us to let us know they were in the area then they came the next day and my sister-in-law said they were great. The plumbers thought that they couldn't find exactly where the stoppage was, but they were able to clear it out that it was able to start draining. They also said to let them know if we needed more assistance. We've had several heavy storms since then and there's been no issue.

    Our garbage disposal was broken. I placed the original call to have a plumber come out. The plumber was very nice but we couldn't get him for about five days. When the plumber came out, he said that since we didn't have a plug to put it in, they couldn't do anything until an electrician come out and put a plug in. So we were very annoyed at American Home Shield for scheduling him when he couldn't do the job. But the contractors were very good.

    I had to call Home Shield back but then they said they didn't cover the plug. So we had to get an electrician on our own and pay for that ourselves to get the plug in. Another issue was that when I looked at my contract, it said that outlets were covered. So I had to make a few phone calls to Home Shield. Finally, I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said, "Even though it says it covers new outlets, the contract only covers what was existing in the home when you purchased the contract."

    When the plug was put in, I called the plumber back and they said, "Well we can't come back out unless you call American Home Shield and ask for a recall." So I had to call American Home Shield again. But each time I called, I was on hold for a considerable amount of time and then, they said they had to wait to get a report from the electrician to make sure that everything was up to code.

    When I called the plumber back, they said they had to call the electrician first to make sure that everything was up to code. I asked them, "Well, when can they come back out?" The rep said, "Well, we can't just send them out. You have to call Home Shield again to get a recall." I said, "Oh, my God, they said they would just come right back." She said, "Well, we can't come right back unless you make another recall request with American Home Shield." It was back and forth. It was a good three weeks before it was finally resolved. Also, we're not very happy with this price increase. We didn't get any warning about that. Otherwise, we wouldn't have renewed.

    The dryer wasn't heating up. The rep was excellent. He worked with me very well. The tech was very professional and he did a great job. He said he put some little part in the dryer and he told me not to use it until I get someone to into the home and blow out the dust from it. I did that today and we turned the dryer on. But it's not heating up.

    Previously, I had repairs on my AC and they did an excellent job on them. I love AHS's services. They should do an incentive program where how many people you get to join should give you a discount on your bill every month.

    Within two months of us buying the house, we had to replace our HVACs. I was a little surprised AHS didn't cover more. We have a regular deductible and altogether, it was $1,900, but only 400 was covered by AHS. I wouldn't even have minded paying a little bit more of a deductible if the overall cost was covered. But outside of that, we had our air conditioner go and that went pretty smoothly. We paid our deductible. A guy came out and fixed it and that was our only cost. So far, it's pretty good. It’s also simple submitting a claim. You just log in, make your claim and follow up if you have any questions. It's not all of that running around, being transferred to 10 different departments.

    My air conditioner was making a real loud noise. I went to the unit that sits outside and pulled grass away from it, and it stopped. When the tech came out, he looked at my system then he went outside, put his gauge on the air conditioner and checked the pressure of the Freon. He went back and told American Home Shield what he thought, and there was something he wanted to do that they didn't cover.

    The air conditioner is still working, so I don't know what the loud squealing was. The tech said the condenser was dirty. He took the filter out and holding his camera, he stuck his hand under there and took a picture of the filter underneath. He showed me a picture, but I don’t know if that was my condenser or not. You can’t get under there to see unless you take the vent off and crawl up in there. The tech wanted me to pay $500 plus the $75 I paid him to come out and whatever ahs paid him. I’m not gonna pay $500 for somebody to clean that condenser. I can get under there and vacuum it.

    Recently, I requested service for my washer and dryer. When I try to wash clothes, the washing machine bounced. I balanced it, and it was totally balanced, but still, it would do it. When the repair man came out, he said the springs were weak, and I'm sure that that was the problem because I could just open the door, and the basket would shake. He fixed it, and it's great. Overall, I'm happy with American Home Shield, other than the fact that they keep raising the price for the people to come out to my house. When the lady called about the washer and dryer, she said that they have to pay the tax for the state of Texas now. I've never heard of that, but they took out 81 something dollars for that visit.

    I called, and the air conditioning guy was here within three days. He fixed it when he was here. He said my unit had a leak in it and he filled it up with Freon. He said it'll probably have to be filled up, but this will get me through the heat right now until I call it in again. So far, it's holding with the Freon in there. The air conditioning guy also said if I had any more problems with it, call him back. He did a damn good job, and I know him too. He does good work and I would recommend him to anyone.

    I also used American Home Shield when the outside condenser unit of my AC wasn't working properly. They sent somebody from Lampasas, and they were just as good. I figured they wouldn't have showed up this time, but they did. This air conditioning guy's out of Menard because he's only 28 miles from where I live, which made it a lot better, and he was very efficient. Got it done and got the hell out here. Overall, American Home Shield has been wonderful. In fact, I gotta talk my son into getting it. He's got his house down in San Antonio.

    I would always prefer to do a claim online. It's a little easier. Just multitasking. When the mainline to the house backed up, someone was out within 24 hours, and it met my expectations. They snaked the line out. I didn't get a lot of expectations from them in regards to what to expect, but I got an email that the $125 I had to pay was past due. I just went in there and paid it a couple days ago.

    We had a leak in the pipe. Techs came and they were superb and very professional. One option I was given was to tear up the whole kitchen to find the leak. Another option was to tear out part of the concrete and go overhead with the plumbing to resolve it, instead of tearing out the whole kitchen that we had just finished remodelling. They did their work and got it all done in one day. When they left there, the place was spick and span, and everything was working. They had to do some work in our utility room, our implement closet, to make sure that the lines were not gonna burst there. They did an excellent job. We've never had an issue since. I like American Home Shield. I’ve used them ever since we moved back to our home here in Lubbock. I will definitely use them again. All of my friends, neighbors, and family have the home warranty. Do it. It's a good deal.

    American Home Shield got the repairman to come to our house and fix the issue. But I'm still waiting for them to replace my microwave, and they haven't called. The microwave is not repairable.     We have had American Home Shield for several years and we've had good service with everything up until our last experience with the heating and air company that we dealt with when our AC was out. I put a request in via the website late on a Thursday night. The system assigned somebody who happened to be an HVAC company that’s 30 minutes away from us and would come from another state. This seemed odd because we have plenty in our town that deal with the home warranty. We didn't get any notification from them on Friday. Monday was the new Juneteenth holiday, so I left it alone because even though in those kinds of industries, it's not really a holiday to me and most places like that aren't closed. But I called American Home Shield on Friday and was told that the service company had 24 to 48 hours to make contact with me.

    Tuesday rolled around and we still didn't hear anything. American Home Shield contacted the service company as well. Somebody came out fairly quickly and looked at the system. The technician thought he figured out what was shorting our system and was there for 15 minutes. The unit was blowing cold air when he left. I thought, “Cool, easy fix." I had changed into shorts at some point later that day and didn't notice that our AC wasn't working again. My husband came home and said it was hot. We figured the unit wasn't working again so we called the service company back.

    The lady from their office was extremely rude. It seemed like they were very overwhelmed and I get that a lot of companies are short-staffed right now. But it is summertime and that's when a lot of air conditioning systems have issues. If she has been in their office long enough, she needs to have a little bit of patience with customers that are frustrated because their air conditioning unit is not working.

    The lady said that she would get us on the schedule when she could and that she would have to call me back and let me know when that was going to be because she couldn't even tell me at that point. When my husband talked to her and said, “You guys were already out here once. We have an open warranty request with you guys. Why are you putting us at the bottom of the list? Because obviously, you guys didn't fix it the first time you were out here.” She was very rude to my husband at that point and actually hung up on him.

    Finally, we got another guy out there. It took over a week to get him out there a second time. They figured out what was wrong with the unit and had to order a couple of parts. They said they had to run it through American Home Shield. I really still don't understand who ordered the parts because at one point the guy said, “I have to go back and order the parts. We have to get clearance from you,” but then at another point, we were told that the home warranty had to order the parts and send it to the service company. I got ahold of another office gal and she had informed me that she recently started there. She was super nice and did everything she could to try to get the ball rolling faster.

    We went 29 days before our AC was fixed and this was in a 90-degree weather, which is going to make anybody a little irritable and frustrated. I understand that there is a supply chain management issue with parts. But when I called back that day and asked the lady for an update, I was told one part was in but they didn't know about the other one. The new lady was hoping the other one was gonna be there. It must have been the Wednesday after the Fourth of July. She tentatively put us on the schedule hoping the part was going to make it there and we were going to go from there. Wednesday rolled around and nobody had contacted us. I had no idea if techs were coming or not.

    When I called that day, the lady on the phone said, “The faster I can get off the phone with you, then the faster I can check on when the part is going to be here.” I asked if she was going to call me back that day with an update and she said yes. But I never heard from her. We would call every couple of days. The lady was tired of hearing from us because she didn't have an update for us. All of a sudden, she called and said someone could be there tomorrow between 1:00 and 3:00. The problem was we were heading out of town. It was a Friday. I had a friend come over and sit at the house waiting for the technician to come. 5 o’clock rolls around and the tech still hadn’t shown up.

    I called knowing the service company closes at 5:00. The lady said, “We had a guy end up in the house...we’re way off schedule. But we can reschedule if you want.” I asked, “If you reschedule me, that’s for Friday, right?" She said it was going to be whenever there was time on the schedule again. I said, “No, I will call my friend, and I will see if she can stay longer.” A tech finally made it to the house at 6 o'clock that night and got the air conditioning unit fixed. It's been working since.

    This experience was extremely frustrating. It seemed to me that it took way too long to get the unit fixed. On American Home Shield's end, they have processes and procedures but we had requested switching gears to another company that was in our own hometown. We were told we couldn't otherwise we would be charged another service call. Eventually, we got through to a supervisor and we were told that we could be reimbursed for some fans and they did reimburse our service call fee to the AC company. We're working good now but it was a lot.

    We have had good experiences with American Home Shield overall. I had my garage door fixed last week and the techs were out there in a very timely manner. They were super friendly too and the issue was taken care of. We also had other things in the past. With the AC experience that we had, I probably would hesitate to recommend American Home Shield just because of that. I have to look at the bigger picture that it's a reflection of the heating and air company that came out. But at some point, the home warranty needs to look at the people they are contracted with because they're giving them a bad name.

    They didn't complete the last job. The plumber had to cut a hole in the ceiling and said that AHS will get in touch with me after they read his report and they spoke of fixing the hole. That's been a while back. Other than that, everything's been really good. Draingo was efficient and the guy came when they said they'd come. They fixed everything. I used another contractor for the washer and dryer and I'm satisfied with them. I had to pay that one time even though they came out four times before they finally got it right. Thy did it until they got it.

    I had a previous job to fix my washer and I paid the technician $100, but for some reason, he didn't pass on that money to American Home Shield. So when I had another job, they refused to even consider it. They said, “You haven't paid.” But I told them that I’d paid. The technician said he would send me the money and for me to pay it off so that I can get my AC that had broken down in the middle of the heatwave. The technician said he would send me the check, but he hasn't yet.

    I finally got the AC fixed, thanks to the technician who came overnight and did that. But it was that struggle, trying to explain to American Home Shield's call center. They couldn't understand what I was trying to tell them. American Home Shield must have provided them some reading material they just kept repeating. The call center folks do not have a whole lot of authority other than parrot what the instructions are. It goes on and on for hours to get everything on the call. There was a minimum of 25 minutes on hold. American Home Shield needs to have some instructions to hold or some flexibility that I’m paying their monthly share of $50 and $600 a year for the past several years. Being rigid on this $100 unpaid fee, through no fault of mine, to hold a new urgent job, sounds very strange.

    Whenever I call AHS and after I pay, the techs come and do what they got to do. I have never had a problem. The only problem I had was when I had a claim with my dryer and some of the contractors would not cover them. This dryer was no good. The tech who came kept coming out and doing it. After the third time, I said, “I need me a dryer. You’re either gonna fix it or not.” He was just making up excuses to come back. He would also come in with no mask. Also, after I told him I didn’t want him anymore, his wife sent me a really nasty message, which I didn’t appreciate. I called AHS and told them that I didn’t want him anymore, so AHS sent somebody else out. As soon as the second company came out, the tech looked at it and said, "I knew this was no good.” They also had their masks on and they showed their badge. They were very good. I had no problem with that company right there.

    The air conditioning unit has to be converted into another type. The two different technicians who had been out and looked it said, “This is outdated.” They both came to the same conclusion that the upgrades need to come, but American Home Shield is a little slow on acknowledging that. On the policy, that air conditioning unit needs to be replaced. Other than that, everybody at American Home Shield had a perfect attitude, and they were very open and honest. They were very clear and concise about the product itself. When the dishwasher needed parts, I asked the repair guy, “Does it need a replacement?” He said, “Oh, no. We got these. These are standard dishwashers that they put into new homes. And actually, we have plenty of parts for that.” It was a simple fix, and he was efficient in coming in, seeing the problem, and taking care of it. He got the part, put it in there, and the dishwasher was working.

They came in that Monday, looked at it and said, "There's nothing wrong with the AC. Your drainage pipes are clogged and I don't do that. I'm not a plumber, so I can't do that. I'll go back and have the $100 that you paid for this service switched over to the plumber." I said, "Okay." I would call AHS every day and they would say, "Well, we can't find a plumber. Just call us back tomorrow."

    I was dealing with 100-something degree temperatures every day and my house was staying around 85 to 90 degrees even with two fans blowing. So, it was extremely hot in here and I kept explaining that to them. They said, "Oh, no, no, no, we'll find somebody. You can find somebody externally, but you have to get our approval beforehand." I called someone, they were able to come out the next morning. They found that it was clogged. So, I was on the phone trying to get ahold of AHS to approve their work. The whole time I was talking to them on the phone, these guys already did it. They said it was a 15-minute job.

    But AHS said, "We're not gonna pay for it because we didn't talk to them. We didn't tell them it was okay to clean out your pipe." I said the 15 minutes that they spent arguing with me over the phone about it, the tech was able to do it and my AC is running now. It's not like they asked to replace the AC unit or do $1,000 for repairs. They did something in 15 minutes and they charged me $183 for it. AHS said, "We're not gonna pay for that. And the other $100 you paid for the service call, that was for the technician to come out. He did come out, so we don't owe you that either." I finally got ahold of another lady and asked her, "How do I cancel my service with y'all? I pay y'all every month on time. I'll just quit." She said, "Well, I'll reimburse you the $100. It'll take 7 to 15 business days." I'm still waiting.

    This is my first issue with them. If you're a loyal customer and you don't constantly call every month, the one time you have an issue, and if it's something that minor that they can disapprove, instead of having someone waiting three weeks in 100-degree heat and they were able to fix it in one day doing it themselves, they shouldn't challenge them about paying $183. It would be one thing if they wanted 5,000, 10,000, but it's $183. I was not impressed with AHS. I don't feel like I was treated as a valued customer.

    The contractor came out because my air conditioning was running constantly but wasn't cooling. I called American Home Shield and put in an order, they sent me someone who would come, and I had to contact them to find out when. The tech cleaned off the coils outside and added three pounds of Freon. The guy was very nice. He cleaned everything off. The Freon is not covered, which I knew ahead of time. He looked at the thermostat that I had and said he couldn't do it. He would have to come back for something like that because he wasn't familiar with them. They're smart thermostats.

    I asked him if he would have somebody come back that would be able to change my thermostat for me. He said that wasn't covered." That was fine. But I never heard from them. So, they never came. I got somebody else to do it. I don't use American Home Shield for everything that we do because some of the people that they send out aren't that super. Now that I know them, I either don't use them or try to find somebody else. Most of the time, I don't have any trouble with them.

    My air conditioning wasn't working and so we called Home Shield. American Home Shield sent me the right people for my air conditioning. They were exceptional. They worked hard. They got the job done, and my air conditioning is working top-notch. I'm very satisfied with them. However, I have a dryer that I called about. It hasn't been working for over a month. I called AHS immediately when the dryer stopped working. They sent me a clown. He had like marbles in his mouth and it was very difficult to understand him but I kept hearing him say, “No electricity. No electricity.” So, when he pointed to the socket, I said, “Yeah. There's electricity.” Then he put a machine that points to the electricity, and his numbers were super low like, and my dryer is of a higher voltage.

    I've lived here for 16 and a half years. This is the original dryer that that seller gave me when I bought my house. It's worked up until two days before the guy came. Everything's always been fine. I told him, “Listen. You need to leave my home. I need to call for someone who can really communicate with me and really find the problem." I sent him out. I called Home Shield and said, “This guy was a clown. I don't think he knows what he's doing. I really don't. And so please send me someone else.” They took three weeks to send someone out. I'd been without a dryer all this time. The first guy told me, “I need to call Home Shield and tell Home Shield that I need an electrician. Not a person that can fix dryers.” Home Shield sent me an electrician. Two guys came in. The guy put in his electrical thing, and said, “The voltage you need here is this. And this is what you have. You have plenty of voltage. There's no electrical problem in your home.”

    I said, “Well, thank you very much. Can you please send that information to Home Shield?” They did. We called Home Shield. I said, “Please send us a guy that knows what he's doing so we can get our dryer fixed.” That was when they sent me back the first guy, and he came with the same little piece of equipment. He came with the same story that I have an electrical problem. I said, “Can I show you the documents the electrician gave me so you can clearly see what his report was?” He said, “Well, that's not happening now. There's something wrong.” I asked him, and not so nicely this time, to leave my home and not to ever come back to my home again.

    I called Home Shield and I said, “Home Shield, I need my dryer fixed. Do not send me anyone from that company. Please send me a different company.” To this day, they have not sent anyone. I still don't have a dryer so I'm really pissed off at Home Shield about the dryer. They did the same thing to me with my refrigerator until finally, after going back and forth, they decided that my refrigerator was not reparable. It took them about eight months.

    Home Shield failed me twice. All the other times that they have come, they have repaired the washer, the microwave, and the stove. They repaired that refrigerator maybe 10 times through the years and finally, I got a new refrigerator. Would I recommend Home Shield? I wouldn't because there are some things they do right, but there are too many things they do wrong. I felt like they don't care about me. When we bought this house, we started Home Shield. It was a gift from the seller. We decided to renew and we've kept it through the years, but they have failed me a few times. It was very aggravating. I even had a guy that I had escorted out of my home because he was vulgar. He talked and reeked of smoke. It was horrible.

When that company came, the guys said that a lot of wiring was old and bad and Tru Tech didn't change it. We would have never known that if we had not called the other guy.     We've been having some issues with my AC and whatever vendor AHS is sending out to me tells me it's a 48-hour hold before they can come out to do service. American Shield would not let them come out unless it’s after 48 hours that they received the claim. That's not really cool because in Texas, we're in triple degree weather and it's super hot. When you have kids and dogs at home, it's not that great to be telling someone that.

    They're supposed to come out today but they like to send a confirmation text or call the day before they come out to verify that someone will be at the house. They did not send that yesterday. I missed work the last few times they came out and I can't keep missing work. The first time, it was good and I liked the tech a lot. He fixed the condenser. But the second time, the guy said there was nothing wrong with the AC. I told AHS, "I don't want that guy back. Send someone else. This has already been the third time. Can y'all get out here faster? Because we're in triple degree weather.” They said, “We understand but we're booked up. And your warranty has a 48-hour hold before we can send someone out."

    Other than that, they usually take care of my claims pretty quickly. I like where I can go online and look at my information. I can submit a claim online but I also wish that they have the option to call them as well there and have the phone number posted as well as the times you can call. Because I don't know if they're on Pacific Time and I'm in Texas. But no one answered and it says it's after hours. That's why I was kind of disappointed. I don't know where to go because they used to answer you right away.

    The seals were bad on the refrigerator so, it was getting condensation in the freezer part. And when it got enough ice in it, it would melt and leak out on the floor. I spoke to an AHS representative online and the timeline he gave me met our expectations. American Home Shield tried to find new seals and eventually, they couldn't find any, so they gave us a new one. But that took a little while. If the process was a little faster it would have been better. But we're very happy with the end result.

    So far, every time I've had to call American Home Shield, the experience has been great. Best Care came out for a heating issue. I really wasn’t satisfied with them. The air conditioning was working, but the front of my house does not cool down. So, they came and looked at the ductwork, and that was what I requested them to do, which was to see what they could do to get the front part of the house cool. They were saying that I needed a modification done to my ductwork. American Home Shield didn't cover that. The house was that way when I bought it, and it’s still hot in the front part of the house.

    Also, a day later when Best Care left, the whole air conditioning went out. So, I was without air from Saturday all the way to Tuesday. I really did not benefit from them coming out other than to tell me the work that I needed to be done will be $2,300 that I don't have. B&A HVAC came and they did an excellent job on getting the air back working. They came on out immediately. I called them Saturday night, and on Sunday, nobody was working. So, on Monday morning, I got up and I called and somebody was out here Tuesday afternoon.

    Loyal Home Services, the contractor for the AC, was nice as well as the garage door guy. I've used American Home Shield a couple of times and the ease of being able to call one place than finding the contractor is good. I like that they have enough contractors because I've had a home warranty that had zero contractors before so they were a pointless service. I've had warranties where I pay the co-pay directly to the service provider and this is the first one I've had where I pay it to AHS. That was a little bit different for me but it doesn't matter either way.

    I like American Home Shield. The service has been great. I used May Heating Company about a year and a half ago, and they had to order a part and it took a while to come. But they talked me through it. The guy remembered me when he came in and serviced the unit because it was leaking and it caused damage to my ceiling. They did the work and I was pleased with them. All the companies that AHS have is not phenomenal, but this one was phenomenal. They need to vet some companies. I had a problem with my washing machine and it took six companies to come out to repair it. One guy said all they had to do was remove the tub out of the center. Other people didn't want to do the work but he did it and it was serviced. I called AHS and told them the situation.

    I'll keep AHS because the service is great for the cost. I don't like the increase that they put on there. The call went from $45 and jumped right up to $75. But it's just the way the world is. When I call, I can get somebody to come out to service it and I don't have to pay any additional cost. It isn't something that's outrageous. I've had a new AC unit put in many years ago and the cost was $1,500. I had to pay half of it. But that was reasonable. For a person with a family of two children and college, the cost makes a difference when you don't have to put out that much money when I make a payment every month to them which is reasonable.

    I wish American Home Shield would source people in the States. I know that India is cheap labor, but they don't understand me completely. There's always a language barrier with these guys, and I can't email anybody my complaints. I can never just go on the app and request information. I go on their website. It's very simple. I can't just email them. There's no form to email anything even on the app. They should source people here in the States. I can't even talk to a supervisor when I call to complain about something. The other thing I'd like to complain about is they should have the contractor touch base with me the same day. Or just someone to say, “The soonest we can get out to your place is this day.” This last incident I had, I had to wait at least five days. I reached out to them just to confirm that they were coming the day that they said they were.

    AHS has been taking my money for over a year for my monthly dues. And when I pay for it, my card wasn’t accepted. I'm waiting for a refund because they overcharged me on something. And it took me three calls to even get someone to realize that they owe me money, but still have not received that money back into my account. They save me money because all the air conditioning techs would have charged at least 125 just to walk in the door. I know that it's probably industry standard, but the last with Climate Control Heating and Air charged me $100 a pound for Freon to do that. And the only way he accepted money was from Venmo. So, I had to Venmo him the money, which seems unprofessional. They don't take a credit card.

    The only reason why I stay with AHS is because I only pay $100 per service. Unfortunately, with the air conditioner, I had to pay an extra 300 for the Freon, which I understand that's how it works. It even says in the contract AHS doesn't pay for Freon. Which I don’t get if they're gonna be part of a warranty service, why do we have to pay extra? My house is cool. But they should at least contract out to these HVAC guys and say, “Okay. If you are going to charge the customer directly, this is how much you can charge them.” $100 per pound seems a little steep.

    The hot water heater was turned down too low, so that made the water start to come out. The rep turned it up and told me that and I was good to go. Also, the people who I bought the house from, for some reason, had put the handle for the hot water and the cold water, backwards. So when I was trying to turn the hot water on, the cold water was coming out. So the rep showed me that stuff.

    People should get American Home Shield. It’s not hard. I told the guys who bought my house down in Charleston that AHS was the best thing they can get. They told me they already had AHS before and they were planning on getting them anyway. When AHS send people out, they’re knowledgeable about the stuff and they get the job done. I pay my copay and if they can't fix the problem, AHS sends somebody else right out. If they can't get it done, then they'll replace the item. You can't beat that. But normally, when the guys come out, they fix the problem and know what they're doing.

    I am furious with AHS. I filed a claim for a microwave and they made me do a video thing. They saw what type of microwave it is and that it's a countertop with a built in trim kit. I paid $85 for the service guy to come out and I had to wait about five days for an appointment. He said he didn't think it was covered and that it was still considered a countertop even though it's built in with the trim kit. So, he left. I didn't have the actual contract but since AHS they did the video, they should have told me that in the first place.

    So, I called American Home Shield and they kept saying that it was covered. A couple days go by and I called the appliance guy. I spoke to someone in his office and she said it was not covered. I told her that was not what American Home Shield said but she said it wasn't covered and hung up the phone. So I called her back and told her not to ever hang up on me again. But she said she didn't hang up on me and I was furious about that.

    I then called American Home Shield and for two weeks, they kept saying not to worry and that it was covered. They also said they got partial approval from their authorization department. I was calling every day after being put on a 20-minute hold before getting a live person. Then two weeks later someone called me back and said that it was not covered. I finally called back and I said I wanted my money back from the service fee. They said they reimbursed it but I didn't check my credit card. Meanwhile, it was almost three weeks that I was without a microwave. I would never use American Home Shield and I'm going to tell my realtor that if he ever sold me another house, he better not get that as my home warranty. And I had a little housewarming party and everyone saw the microwave was missing from the slot. I told the story of American Home Shield and recommended against them.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for quite a while, and I’ve only had one bump in the road. It was about my air conditioning when I was living in another place. What was required was the repair people would have had to break the foundation because the pipe runs underneath the house and there was a Freon leak. American Home Shield said they don't cover that, which was understandable.

    The last service I had was by far the most outstanding. I just bought this house last year, and I called the number that was on the air conditioning because it was flooding out my house. This guy from the number I dialed came in and said, “I got some bad news. Number one, your air conditioner is so old that we don't carry the Freon no more. So that means you're going to have to get a new unit. That would cost you $8,175.” It was $175 for nothing. My wife said, “Baby, do we still have American Home Shield? Did we change it over from our old house to our new house?” I said, “I don't know. Let me call.” So, I called and said, “What address do you have?” Sure enough, I transferred it over.

    When I called the guy from American Home Shield, he was busy. I was told I would be given a call back, but I didn’t get one. I was sent an email saying the gentleman was gonna be coming out the next day, and this guy came out and I liked him. He was cool. He said, “Let me show you something.” The guy from first number I dialed didn’t even check the PVC pipe that drains the water outside, and it was so clogged. The guy from American Home Shield ran water through the pipe and unclogged it. I then said, “Well, let me ask you about this Freon.” He said, “What about it?” I said, “It was R-22.” He said, “You don’t need to replace it. If you have any problems with your stuff not cooling, then just let us know,” just go back through American Home Shield and request that company. It was great.

    American Home Shield also came out and replaced our water heater. Not only did they replace it, they put this big thing on top of it that is now required, and it surprised me. I hear so many horror stories about American Home Shield. “Don’t do it. Don’t get it. They rip you off. They don’t want to do the work,” and unfortunately, we’re in a society where people want everything for nothing.

    Recently, our compressor went out on our air conditioning system for two weeks and the part was covered under warranty. I called the people who put it in and the charge for them to install the part, which was coming from the manufacturer, was $2,200. Since it was that expensive, I turned the claim into American Home Shield. The contractor that they are affiliated with, Airtronics, came out and did an inspection. For the Freon, American Home Shield’s only paying $10 a pound and it's up to over $100 a pound so we paid the difference for that. Our deductible was 75. We paid about $800 instead of $2,200. It’s working fine now.

    I called in a claim to American Home Shield because the element of the oven broke. Service people came in and had to do what they needed to do. They told me they had to order a part. Being that the oven was old, the service guy was hoping he could find the part. He found it but it took another five weeks by the time we got the oven fixed. American Home Shield is there when I need it. It's convenient. I need it because I can't afford to pay full price if anything ever breaks down. The only downfall on that is just about every year the monthly fee goes up and that makes it much harder for me. On top of that, I'm a single household income.

    Had one request for service. A vendor was assigned like a day. Within three days of that, the tech came to work on our AC issue and resolved it that same day. I was really pleased with the timing of everything especially given that it's the middle of summer. The tech was awesome. I wasn't able to be at home and he said, Yeah. I'll just walk around. I'll just check everything from the outside." I had a minor in the house so I didn't think he could be in the home with a minor and he was like like, "Well, I can't go in the house. But I'll walk around and do an inspection of the outside and all. Then if I need to go inside the house, I'll let you know."     We recently had a water heater replaced. It was an older unit and the building and safety codes have changed over the years. AHS doesn't cover that and it was required work that had to be done by a licensed contractor. Plus, it more than doubled the price which meant that if we have any electrical or plumbing work that needed attention and something is not up to code, we get hit with the difference. That's a hole in the insurance.

    The air conditioning was running, but not cooling the space. On a couple of those 95-degree days, the room wouldn't cool down on that side of the house. When I got a technician that could come out here, the initial complaint was on a Tuesday afternoon at 3:00. My claim was given to several contractors, but none of them could take care of the problem. I was told that because my air handler is in my attic, everybody doesn't do that. So they had to find somebody that would. My concern was, instead of them notifying me that they were the contractor that was supposed to handle it, but they couldn't do it, I was the one that had to call and say, “Okay, it's been 24 hours. Nobody's called me back.” That's what happened with the first one. And they said, “Oh, we don't do that.” I had to call American Home Shield back. They said, “We got another company. But that company, the same thing happened three times in a row.

    When I finally got this last company, I found them very responsive. The guy was here within 24 hours, like they said he would be. He properly diagnosed the problem and gave us some suggestions for solutions. He was very nice. The room is cool, and it has been since he left. But it was a bumpy road. I felt like I was winging it for a while. I wasn't kept abreast when there wasn't a contractor suited for the claim that I had. I had to figure that out for myself. I had to go, “Okay, it's getting close to 3:00. They said they’d call by 3:00.” I had to start making a lot of phone calls to American Home Shield.

    I did on my own what should have been done for me. And I am taking into consideration that air is a luxury. It's not a necessity, and it was very hot out. I'm sure they had a lot of calls. I know a lot of people that have air handlers in the attic. And if that was a peculiar situation, I should have been notified of that when I got the home warranty. That I may experience a delay in my service because of the location. If I was informed, I would have been better prepared to deal with the situation. I would not have, but I had a couple of times when I was angry.

    I'm pretty happy about American Home Shield. There were some hiccups here and there with our claim for a broken AC unit. But overall, it was taken care of. Some of the parts didn't match up with newer parts and the warranty only covers comparable or compatible parts. So we had to deal with the issue of that. Also, one complaint I had was that when it comes to ordering parts for the service department or service company to do their job, there was a backlog on the parts. They have a supplier that they have to go through and they could not give me an arrival date for the parts to be shipped. So, I had to go a different route because they said they weren't sure when the parts were going to be. They contributed to the supply shortage that's happening across the world.

    They were able to resolve the issue though, by saying, “Look, the other option we have is that we can just reimburse you for the portion that we would have taken care of.” I had the service company and they acquired the parts. They were able to take care of the issue in a timely manner. For the most part, the process was fine though it took a little longer than I would have liked. At least they gave an alternative solution and that's what I was happy with.

    ZERO STARS: I called to make a claim for Broken AC (in Florida 104 heat index) and after now 13 days still have no resolution. They failed to call me back. I made a complaint with bbb have not heard back. I called AHS to cancel my contract (well within the 30 day requirement) and request two $100 refunds for two contract service fees and the "agent" could not help me with that and said "someone from the 'cancellation department' would call me back by end of day". We are now past 24 hours and no call from anyone. They have "agents" who are located in the Philippines working from home (you can hear the cocks crowing in the background) who read from a tight script, and you can never speak to anyone in management. I spoke to three agents in one day all named "Jennifer". They will take your money and you can't even communicate with them. Zero Stars. Buyer beware. Do not use this Warranty company.     I have AHS at my old house. Everybody was coming over for Christmas, and my double ovens went out. I was upset that they weren't going to be there till after Christmas. Of course, you want to bake cookies and all that. But whoever the lady was who handled the claim, she got me all taken care of before Christmas. So that's why I went back to American Home Shield when I bought my last house.

    The light wasn't turning on. You turn the switch on and it would come on once or would come on and go off, or sometimes it wouldn't do anything. My husband thought he smelled something and we were afraid that there was fire issue

    The same thing that was broken in my air conditioner this year is the same thing that had to be fixed last year. I'm hoping that it's not a yearly thing that I have to have somebody come out to fix it. The problem was the same part that has been replaced the year before.

    Generally, I like AHS just fine. It's good coverage and service, and fairly affordable. It covers quite a lot of appliances and things in my house. Sometimes, though, I don't get the same contractor every time I have to use the warranty. I would like more consistency with who they use so they know what's happening or what has happened before and I don't have to update them on what's going on as much.

    Recently, Direct Appliance Service came out for our claim. I felt 100% very happy with them. They were the best ones we've ever had. With my oven claim, AHS gave me somebody who wouldn't work with me on the time. I can only have a service person in the mornings 'cause I leave in the afternoons.     After I moved in to the house and I got the AHS warranty, my water heater broke. I was told multiple times that there will be a vendor coming. A couple of days passed and then the vendor, which was supposed to come on a Monday, didn't show up. The same thing happened on Tuesday and I waited four days without having any hot water, neither in the shower or in the kitchen. So, that was unprofessionally managed and it took me literally tens of calls to AHS. Each time I called, it would be a different person that I was talking to. I asked it to be escalated to the lead of whoever I spoke to from the customer service. And after requesting multiple times, saying that there's an emergency and water was leaking all over the floor and in the garage where the water heater is placed, they finally did an authorization. There was no sense of urgency nor empathy shown from AHS.

    They did the authorization where I can call any plumber of my liking and get that fixed. So, I did that and the person came and looked at it. It was also okay to work with AHS in terms of calling the AHS operation team and then give them the breakdown. The person called them right in front of me and gave all the details. But AHS rejected that again. They rejected that particular plumber's code and said that they were gonna send some other company that they contract with. They were going to do a second opinion on it and that was going to be on Thursday. I didn't even get a call from that company so I called the team.

    I spoke to the authorization team and again, the person was not empathetic. The person said that it is the way it works and it is what it is and they cover half the costs of what the tech was quoting. I shopped around quite a bit among plumbers around my zip code and this was the most fair-priced plumber that I had picked. AHS said that I have to call the vendor and schedule a time or I have to wait for the vendor to call back. I was super annoyed and upset and I just paid $3,000 from my pocket and got it despite having AHS. AHS was supposed to cover this. Everything included, I spent a good 16 hours with them on calls and then figuring out everything. It was such a headache. I had a newborn at that time and for five family members, we all haven't showered for four straight days. So, it was a very bad experience that I had with AHS and I am definitely not planning to renew with them.

    I needed plumbing services and the plumber Home Shield sent out was horrible. The contractor was YAMAZ and the plumber showed up without any tools and said there was a leakage. He then made a report and I don't know how he came about that because the leak is supposed to be underground in front of the house. He gave the report to Home Shield and I got an email quoting that I would need to pay out of pocket 3,000-something dollars. The plumber didn't even do anything and just walked around outside the yard.

    I had to hire someone outside on my own time because, apparently, Home Shield does not cover that. The plumbers I hired were absolutely flustered as to why the first plumber gave such a big quote. I didn't even have to pay that much for the second plumbers to repair this thing. Home Shield should not work with YAMAZ ever. I read the reviews that they have online in regards to YAMAZ and people that have been with Home Shield. I've also personally experienced trying to call the contractor and the communication was not there. I left messages and I had to call Home Shield to say I could not even get in contact with the person that they asked to come and fix what I needed to be done. When they sent him out, he only did part of the services.

    I still haven't had my faucets inside my house looked at. They were gonna send YAMAZ again and I don't want them to come and fix the faucets. I'm still waiting for the services for my other three faucets that need to be looked at because no one has come out. I've been so busy trying to repair that, that I haven't reached out to Home Shield yet to tell them that no one has come out. I'm hoping that my future experiences with Home Shield will be good. That's just the first time and I would never recommend YAMAZ.

    My toilet was constantly running and the first time Prime Plumbing came out, they did something. But it started running again and the guy had to come back and change another part in it. Then, my other toilet did the same thing. He said that they’re not making these parts like they used to. But everything is working now. Back in 2018, I had to get my furnace replaced and American Home Shield was very helpful with that as well. I got it taken care of. Something that the contractor was doing underneath the house wasn’t done like it was supposed to but we got that rectified. So, I’m good. I’m always recommending American Home Shield to people. I ask them if they have a home warranty and tell them that they need to have something in place in case they have an emergency.

    Our air conditioner broke. I called AHS and they sent someone out and that person fixed it. It lasted about a week. I called again and they were gonna send the same person out, but they couldn't come as soon, so they found a different company to come out. They came out sooner, then they did a fix. It only lasted about four days. We called them, and they sent them out again. They officially said they couldn't repair it. So right now, we're in the process of waiting to see what they're gonna do.

    So far, AHS has been really good about getting somebody out to repair it quickly. They also answer my calls every time and have knowledge about what's going on. There had been a few things that needed replacing and they were good about staying on top of calling me and getting the options to me for my replacement. The person I talked to was probably not from America. But generally, they're a lot more competent than a lot of places when you call.

    I had American Home Shield back in 2000 and I decided to come back. That’s still up in the air right now. I'm having a hard time replacing my dishwasher. They're having a problem with the chip because everything is out of stock and it takes a long time for them to get on the contract to send someone out. Also, customer service has been transferred to South America and sometimes there's a language barrier when you're talking to them.

    I had plumbing worked on recently and that went well. But I declined the faucet that they were going to send me. I didn't want what they were recommending. I told American Home Shield that I had a faucet already because I already went out and purchased one because I didn't know what was going on. That's the issue right now. I'm waiting for the plumbers to get back to me and see what they're going to tell me about the faucet. I was told I can upgrade it and I will have to pay the difference. American Home Shield has been beneficial about 90%. As for the 10%, I have to find a happy medium for that.

    American Home Shield has served me well. I've had a lot of home maintenance items that I've had to deal with, and having them arrange the contractors and having the contractors come out has worked out well for me. I don't have to think about trying to arrange the various companies and get them to come out. They do all the scheduling automatically. If it's an appliance and it's covered, and they total out the appliance saying, "Hey, we can't make this repair," then they'll get me a reasonable replacement.

    I've had an AC guy out. I've had a plumber out several times. I had somebody come in and diagnosed my washing machine, and they promptly said I needed a new one. They got me a new one. So, so far, so good. One or two of the techs haven't done the things that I really needed them to do. Maybe they were more handymen than they were specialized. I had one contractor come in to do the plumbing and he didn't fix the thing he needed to fix. I raised the issue again with AHS and I got a different company that came out the next time. The tech helped me a lot.

    I have had their service since we got our home, which has been about 16 years. We really hadn't had any negative issues with them up until eight years ago. We started having problems with our air conditioner on a regular basis. The same thing would break down every year. Three years or so of it, we started asking questions because it was like we were putting a Band-Aid on it instead of doing something different. This just went on and then it became a little bit more regular where it wouldn’t quite make it a year before things started happening. This past time in May, it was doing the same thing. It would go off and on, off and on, but this time, it was not coming back.

    We started trying to get someone out here. American Home Shield sent someone the first time and we had a horrible experience with that company. I asked them if they could come back because the tech was supposed to call me before he came, but he didn't. So when he came and pulled up into my driveway behind my car, I was on my way out to go pick up my father in law. I asked him, “Is there any way that I can go ahead and run over and pick him up and come back? Because I wasn't expecting you just yet.” He said, “Oh, no. It's fine. It'll be just a minute. Just give me five minutes.” So he didn't move his car.

    He went on back to the back so I've followed them back there a little bit, and he started opening up the deal and trying to look around. He said, “Oh, it might take a little bit longer than five minutes.” I told him, “Sir, I really need to go pick up my father-in-law. I have a doctor's appointment. He's gonna watch my kids for me and be here with you.” But he said, “Just give me a few more minutes.” So that was the start of the frustration with that appointment.

    I ended up having to move my appointment because he was here for 30 minutes. I expected him to be here but I had made arrangements for my father-in-law to be here with him instead of me because I had a doctor's appointment. So I was in the house, trying to change my appointment and talk to my father-in-law and let him know I wasn't coming. When I got all of that done, I went back out and he said, “I think I got you squared away, but you guys are going to need some Freon.” I said, “Okay. Do we have a leak or something?” He said, “No, I don't think you have a leak.” His son was with him and he looked at him and said, “Dad, remember I was telling you there's one over here?” He looked at his son like he did not want him to say whatever he was saying. So that was suspicious to me but I didn't say anything. He said, “Well, no, because I took care of that. Don't worry about that. I took care of that.”

    He said that everything was up and running and that we just needed Freon at this point. He added, “But your insurances doesn’t cover that so that would have to come out of your pocket. You need probably about two pounds,” which was $200. So I said to him, “Well, okay. We weren't expecting to do that today so we'll call you back in a couple of days or so and have you come back out and do that when we have the money for that.” He said, "Okay," and then I said, “But everything else is working fine.“ He said, “Yes.” I said, “So without the Freon, it just won't get cold or something?” But he said, “Oh, don't run it. Don't run it until you get the Freon.” He told me to not run it because if I did, I might mess up something.

    I was fixing to walk away and then he said, “Well, is there not someone you can call and borrow it from?” I told him that I would discuss that with my husband. But that was personal, so I told him, “We'll let you know when we're able to have you come back out.” I came into the kitchen, did what I needed to do, and then he came to the door and said they were done. I said, “Okay,” and then he left.

    I went over to the thermostat and turned it off, and went on about my day. That night, my husband got home and it was still hot in the house. He said, “I thought the heating and air guy was coming today.” I told him that he did. I told him that the guy said that we needed Freon and I didn't have $200 to give him today so I asked him that we would get back with him on it. My husband asked, “Did he show you that he fixed it? I said, “No. He told me not to turn it on so I didn't. He said that he fixed it and that it needed Freon.”

    My husband went over and turned the thermostat on. We went over to a vent and nothing came on. The fan was not turning at all. My husband said that he wanted to talk to the guy tomorrow. So I texted him that night and asked him questions about what was done. I said, “I will contact your office in the morning but wanted to give you a heads up because my husband wants to understand what's going on.” The next morning, around 7:00, he called me. He said, “So you turned the unit on.” I said, “Well, I turned it off when you left like you advised me to. But my husband turned it on to see if it was working.” He then said, “Well, I told you not to turn it on.” I told him that my husband turned it on that night because he wanted to verify if it was fixed. He said, "Yeah, but I told you not to turn it on.”

    My husband was listening to him and his tone because I had him on speaker. So he took the phone from me and introduced himself and said, "I turned it on because I wanted to know if it was fixed.” The guy said, “Oh, yeah, yeah. I fixed it. But I suggested to her that she shouldn't turn it on because it needs Freon.” My husband said, “I understand what you suggested to her. And she took your suggestion. She didn't turn it on all day. I can vouch for that because it was hot when I came home, which is why I wanted to know if it was fixed. So I tried to turn it on and it didn't come on.” He then said that we shouldn't have tried to turn it on.

    My husband asked him, “Okay. First of all, let me ask you this question. Does needing refrigerant keep your unit from working?” He said, “No.” My husband knew that. He just wanted to see what he was going to say. Then my husband said, “Okay. So why isn't my unit coming on? That's why we called American Home Shield because it wasn't coming on. And then you came and it's still not coming on. And you're saying all it needs is refrigerant and that doesn't make sense to me.” The guy just went off. He started yelling and said, “You know what? I had you guys' best interest in mind. And if you don't think that that's what I'm doing, you can call somebody else.” My husband said, “Whoa, whoa. I'm not yelling at you, sir. Why are you yelling at me? What do you mean when you say you had our best interest in mind?”

    The guys that he was looking out for us. He said he disabled it and he made it where we can't turn it on. He said he did that for our best interest. But my husband told him that it was not for our best interest. If he was looking out for our best interest, he wouldn't have done something without telling us and then tried to hide it and then tried to blame it on me for turning on the unit. If he was trying to look out for us, he would have explained to us what he was doing and why. He was tampering with our property. You don't just turn off things or disable things and not tell the customer.

    American Home Shield did not handle it well. They told me they were required to get some sort of a report from the company before they can send me someone else. They said the guy had 24 hours to give them that. 24 hours went by and about a week and a half went by, but the report still hadn't been given. I'm calling off and on. This claim happened on May 19th and today is when they are sending someone out to put in an air conditioner. We have gone without air conditioner this entire summer.

    Over the course of the time since May 19th, it's gone from, “Okay, we'll send you someone else,” and then it took weeks and not hearing back from them and I called them and they said, “Well, we can't find anyone right now. We're still looking.” Then I called back and they said, “Well, we can turn it over and you can look for someone yourself also.” I told them we can do that. So then I started looking for someone and then I contacted American Home Shield asking, “Have you all found anyone, too?” That was when they told me, “No. If we turn it over to you, that means we're no longer looking.” But no one told me about that.

    I was getting people out here but no one wanted to work on it because they kept telling me, “This unit is old. The Freon is not made anymore. The Freon is too expensive. This is going to have to be changed. This got old refrigerant in it,” and all these different things. So I went back to American Home Shield and I said, "Listen. We've got to do something. I'm still paying you guys. And I'm still without air conditioner.” I finally got someone who said, “Okay. We'll try to find someone else.”

    I ended up calling On Time, the company that is coming today, because we've used them before in the past through American Home Shield and I've always appreciated them. I asked them if they were still with American Home Shield and they said they were, but that they had them on hold because of how busy they were and they were short staffed at first. The rep remembered me and she said, “Let me talk to my supervisor and see if we can contact American Home Shield and at least do your job for you if we still have them on hold.” That was exactly what she did for me.

    I came home and the trailer was cold and I could smell a little bit of smoke in the kitchen. The contractor came out and said the filter was filthy. The guy said we couldn't get any air to the air conditioner, which was probably why I smelled the burning. I had no idea that I was supposed to change a filter on an air conditioner.     American Home Shield has been beneficial over the years. I always refer others to them. If they're asking about home warranties, I always say, for the most part, I’m happy with them. Recently, McDade Mechanical came for my hot water heater that was leaking. I always request McDade because they're always professional and have always been upfront with me.

    This year, considering I had to get a new hot water heater, American Home Shield has done me well. But most years, there were some issues in my house that half the time, the policy didn't cover. I had to pay $400 for the construction for an issue with one of my pipes. I've had a drippy faucet, and they wouldn't cover it because they had to go through the wall. Also, my well pump is covered but it seems like they never go through one of the people in the area. I always have to find one on my own. So, sometimes I wonder if that’s even worth it or if I just take that off the policy. Additionally, the reps at American Home Shield are just reading from a script and it doesn't even matter what I'm asking. It's irritating.

    American Home Shield is very slow. I have put in an order for a ceiling fan to be put in. It took them a month to get a ceiling fan for me to get inside my house. We were going to wait the heat wave. That was not right. AHS needs to do a little better than that. It shouldn't take a month or longer for them to put in a ceiling fan. If I had purchased it and gave me a discount on the ceiling fan, and they put it in, it shouldn't take that long for a ceiling fan to be put in. Because it was during a heat wave, and I had no ceiling fan in my bedroom. But the people that they hire are wonderful. Very nice people come in.

    I do not like AHS. They don't work out for the homeowner. It’s a piss-poor plan. I've never gotten reimbursed. I've called multiple times and they kept telling me, "Check’s in the mail." But the address is different. I was supposed to be receiving an $800 check and never received it. Three calls. I won't continue service with them. My hot water heater went out and it took them over two weeks to even get a service rep out there. By the time they got out there and got the answers back, it was about a month to process to get my hot water heater changed. There was no sense of urgency.

    I called the vendor that was still through them, got him to come out and fix it. I paid everything out of pocket and they still wanted information from me to turn in. When I turned it in, I still have not received a check from them. I also bought the extra plan for my pool pump and I wanted them to come out and change it. I already started some of the repairs on it. What they told me was it was an existing condition and they couldn't fix it. That just blew my mind. Because the whole warranty thing is for existing homes and existing conditions, but they did not want to fix it.

    My AC unit is not working and American Home Shield sent me a company. They gave me a diagnostic and offered me to buy a new equipment. They gave me an estimate but I told them that I was gonna check with AHS and maybe another company, because it was expensive. They explained that AHS doesn’t do anything nor pay anything. It’s like a discount. American Home Shield gives it to people. When they gave me the estimate, it was even more expensive than if I just go by myself and find someone to do it for me. So, I called American Home Shield and explained it to them. They said they didn’t receive the diagnostic. This has been 10 days or more, and I still have nothing resolved.

    This is an AC unit in a mobile home. It’s impossible to be there. I have the compressor on at night because it’s super hot and it does not go lower than 82 degrees. So, the electricity bill for two months has been so expensive. Right now, they probably need to resolve it. Everyday, a different person tells me not to worry about it and that they will call me back. But nothing has happened. I have to keep calling everyday and at the end, there is no result, which I’m not happy about. Besides that, I cannot go into my account and see what’s going on. Because any time that I log into my account, it’s saying that my account expired already. So, there is no way that I can add my new account. I’m stressed because I thought AHS is professional and I don't know what's going on.

    I like that the AHS reps get back to me in good time. I also like the ease of making a claim. And as far as the contractors go, they get back to me in a timely fashion. For my recent plumbing claim, the night that the tech came, which was four days ago, everything seemed to be good. And the next night, the plumbing was right back to where it was. Right now, I can’t use the bathroom because the toilet doesn’t flush. I've called the techs two times and I left a message both times but they haven't got back with me yet. I called them the next night and the day after that, but I didn’t call yesterday and I was going to call them again today to see if I can get someone on the phone.

    The only thing I dislike about America Home Shield is it takes too many days for them to take care of the problem. If you call on a Monday, I would expect the problem will be taken care of within one to two days. It takes some time, five days for the contractor, to get in touch with me, then it's another three days before they can do what they need to do. So, sometimes 8 to 10 days. That's too much. It happened a couple of times. Now, I'm waiting on them to deliver my side-by-side refrigerator tomorrow.

    The first contractor that AHS sent out was from this company called Wright. The tech just looked at the refrigerator, didn't examine it. And he said, "What you need to do is put a fan behind it. It's too warm in here." And he left. I did that. A couple of days after, still the same problem. So, I had to call AHS back again, and they sent GE out. GE took care of the problem. AHS has been beneficial. I like it because I can still depend on them taking care of the problem. I know everything will not be done in an instant, but I expect it to be taken care of quicker than it is.

    If you've got appliances as old as we do, I absolutely would recommend American Home Shield. They sent Beyer Appliance out and they were wonderful. On the other hand, they also sent out J & L Plumbing in the middle of June, and they did not fix the problem and did very inadequate. I called somebody on my own, free estimates, and he came out and didn't charge me a penny. I talked to American Home Shield a week ago and told them what happened. They said they would refund the $75 in five to seven business days, and we're at that point now. We’re at the end of July, and we're watching to see if the refund comes through. I also told them I never want that plumbing company in our home again. They need to take them off their books as far as sending them to somebody else's home.

    Having AHS, I get help when I need it so I'm pretty happy with that. Recently, I had a leak in my ceiling and a guy came out. He couldn't find anything but he explained to me what I would need to do if that leak came back. It was really nice that he let me know what my options were and what I needed. But I had a claim for my oven door and that was about the only thing that I was unhappy with. My door was taken apart but the tech that came out used the words "torn apart" on his paperwork. There is a big discrepancy between the two. The lady that I talked to let me know that I was allowed to have a second opinion. I declined it at that time but it was good to know that I had the option to have somebody else come out and get a second set of eyes on my problem.     I keep American Home Shield because when there is a big issue, it's more comfortable. I have it for safety. When I call them, they have somebody come here fast. But it is quite expensive. The first time I used them for something under the sink, I spent $100. I thought the unit was too old and maybe they would change it for me. But the technicians just used something to turn it and then it was good. I also used the warranty for another appliance and the technician that came said that there was one part he needed to change. The second time he came, he cleared something. There was something stuck on the tube. He helped to clean it too.

    My pool was leaking. Allen’s changed some of the PVC pipes and it slowed it down but still, it’s losing more water than it should be losing on a daily basis. They said they were gonna put in some more information about it losing water, and they said they will get back in touch with me. Now, I hadn't heard back from them since then, but both of the techs were great. When I called American Home Shield to file the claim, it wasn't hard to get through at all. He communicated what he thought was wrong. He said that somebody would come out the following week, and someone did. When he came out, he said the antifreeze wasn’t holding. He was very thorough and he gave us feedback on what we needed. He looked for a part, came back, and did a replacement. Everything's working.

    I had two hot water heaters replaced in a duplex that's under contract and closing. They wanted to know what the warranty was on the hot water heaters that were replaced. I said, “I have dates, but I have no invoices. I have no idea what the warranty is on the hot water that was installed.” I asked for copies so it would say what hot water was installed, what kind, and the date it was installed. I'm still waiting for both of those and it's been more than a week. This is American Home Shield not following through for something as simple as this. If I asked them to do any work on them, they automatically take it off my policy because they replaced them, but I don’t know what the warranty is on them or when they were installed.

    The ticket was open last Thursday and they said 48 hours. I called in again after that to find out when I'm going to get the copies. They said they had to escalate it to the next team that handles the vendor relations. Right now, I’m not complaining about AM PM Plumbing, because I’ve left multiple calls with them and two emails for copies. But they said that American Home Shield provides the hot water heater. So, I have to get that information from them. Also, usually, I can get somebody out pretty close. But right now, they have only two plumbing companies that come to Arizona City where the duplexes are. AM PM Plumbing is the only people that come out here. I don’t have another choice of vendors. They don’t send anybody but them.

    I've had a few problems with American Home Shield, but sometimes they'll cover something that's just absolutely shocking. I got a swimming pool in California and they paid $3,000 for something that was like a water heater. However, they don't take care of small things like outdoor lights and outdoor plumbing, like for the faucet. They used to take care of it, but they dropped that. That's what I don't like about the company.

    Yesterday, I had an appointment for my microwave oven between 1:00 and 5:00, and when it got to 5:45, I decided to give them a call and find out what happened. They told me that I canceled and that was not true.     This most recent issue went very well. The roof was leaking. The contractor came out, did some work to it. They said, “Just give it 30 days and give it some time. Let it rain again.” So, I'm just waiting for it to rain again. But I was happy with what they did and the way I was treated. Guy was phenomenal. Loved him. Did a great job, on time, responsive, and followed through. They did what they needed to do and I'm very happy with them. But for my leaking toilet, American Home Shield sent out this company who are con artists. They're a sham. They didn't fix my leaking toilet. They said it was leaking. I saw it was leaking. They knew it was leaking. They said they would be back to fix it, but they never did. That made me not want to deal with AHS anymore. I don't like the way they dealt with our plumbing issue. It was never resolved. I wasn't compensated for a new toilet. And I tell anyone who asked me about AHS that negative experience.

    The AC claim was resolved successfully so we were happy with that. It was for the coil in the air handler that was bad. It turned out that it was too old for them to find a replacement for it so we ended up getting a completely new air handler. They did a good job and explained what was going on and what they were doing. They made sure that by the time they left, we felt comfortable that the problem was solved. The issue that we had with the service was the length of time between when we called and when we got them to come out. They were booked up. From the beginning of the initial claim to resolution was almost a month. When you deal with air conditioning, that's not great. But I like that I have peace of mind having American Home Shield. There were several times where something would have blown up our household budget but was covered by American Home Shield. It was $100 instead of thousands of dollars.

    When we moved in the house, the AC was working correctly. It was getting cold. But two weeks after we moved in, we noticed the downstairs wasn't cooling off so we called American Home Shield. A week in, the tech said that I was low on Freon. So, I was hoping that he would be able to get the service order to get in to work on it. But AHS called me back stating that this is a preexisting issue.

    It wasn't a great experience with the AC because we're still kinda dealing with the situation. When I called the actual company a second time to get an understanding of what's going on, they said that they didn't do a full investigation due to the insurance that we had. So, it seemed like they were trying to get a side service agreement with us separate from the warranty. We got a new house just recently and AHS rejected two of our requests already. We spoke to a representative who told is about all the services that were gonna be covered. I was diligent on wanting to know what was gonna be covered.

But he couldn’t fix my bathtub right away because the water had to be turned off in the entire building. He looked at everything and said there was air coming out, but it wasn't cool. So, I called American Home Shield back. I asked them if they could send a different company. But they said they had to send the same company. So, the same company came back out. He went outside. He said some wires were broken in the box. He fixed the wires and it's working. So when he left, the AC was on 74. And now it's on 76. But it's still not working. My AC is still broken. I don't want to have to pay another $125 for the same thing.

    Our refrigerator wasn't working right. The ice maker was not putting out ice and the freezer was frozen. It was very cold but the refrigerator part was warm. It was also making this tick, tick, tick noise. I initially called American Home Shield and it was really hard. I was on hold for 45 minutes. Someone finally picked up but then hung up on me. I called back and I was on hold for about 15 minutes. I got somebody after that. I run into this kind of hold time nearly every time but only for a few minutes between six and eight minutes. It's not horrible but it's not wonderful either.

    After I made the claim, I got the name of the service company and their number. The experience with them was pretty good but they didn't solve the problem the first time. I called back to American Home and told them the refrigerator wasn’t working still and they got another guy to come back out. That fellow came and tinkered around some more and figured it was fixed then left. But it wasn't fixed so I called again. A third guy came out. This was actually the first guy that came earlier. He wasn't leaving here until the refrigertor was fixed. He took his time and went through everything. He did a very good job and definitely earned his tip.

    He did a deep cleaning of the coils and everything the first time he came. That was an additional cost I paid $50 to Sears for. That didn't fix the problem but it probably helped to make things better. He talked about the size of our refrigerator cave or that space in the wall. This is a huge refrigerator for that space. The people that we bought the house from had this fridge for them and it was an inch away from each wall. There was no more room. The tech discussed this space with me the first time he was here but not much more.

    When he came out the final time, he pulled out the refrigerator all the way out again and he removed the back panel that was covering the motor and everything there. It had air holes in it for the fan to take in air. He made some more air holes in it near to where this little motor was ticking so that the fan could draw in air from inside, blow through, and the air would have more places to exit and cool down that motor some more. The ticking was the motor overheating. He said, “I want you to pull the refrigerator out an extra inch from the back wall. Your fridge will have to stick out a little bit more. But these are the things you have to do to keep it running as long as possible and keep from having to replace your fridge for as long as possible.” He gave me some pointers and he showed me where to put food in my freezer in particular so that I get the most airflow to the refrigerator.

    The freezing problem had to do with some lines freezing in between the fridge and freezer or the drainage. He completely defrosted that aspect and he did something to make it so that didn't happen again. He packed some more insulation around it. The ice maker wasn't making very much ice. There was a mechanism in it that wasn't functioning well. It was sticking so he took a part from a piece he had in his truck and he jerry-rigged it and made it work. It took care of the ticking noise and the icemaker problem. Everything happened at once.

    The other issues were all one basically. He just had to do a few things to correct it. He took the time to really explain what was important about taking good care of the refrigerator so that it would last as long as possible. He said it's going to be on its way out. It's old enough that you got to be careful and just take very good care of it. In general, I've had very good service with American Home Shield with the exception of having to hold while waiting for an initial contact. That was the only thing that would detract from a really good, shining report of them.

    We had a leak through our roof coming from the air conditioner. The tech told us that the tubing was clogged. So, he unclogged it ad fixed it up. He was very knowledgeable and told us the upkeep we can do so that something like that won't happen again. The AC blows a lot better now. We also had a pipe leak burst in the lawn. We had to have the plumber come and do stuff. The plumber we used on that was was horrible. They left a big hole in our wall for a couple of days before they came to patch it up. But the restoration guys and everything else was perfect. AHS has been really good. It's easy to go on there and put in a claim.

    I like American Home Shield. We've been in this house for five years that we've had it but before then, we used to be with them when we had a house in Memphis, Tennessee. We had a recent AC claim and while Fast Response was kind of busy, we weren't completely out of coolness and they got to us as fast as they could. My husband thought the AC wasn't cooling, but it's because we've had some really hot days here in Texas. The gentleman that came out said that he checked everything. He said the Freon was still good in it and everything checked out. It was just the hot temperatures. He suggested we get an attic dome thing. That might help some of the heat coming in from the attic part.

    The only thing I dislike about AHS is the back and forth when they're trying to decide once the people come out and they say that something's wrong and then they have to submit paperwork back to AHS and wait. An issue with the bathroom faucet took quite a long time. We were having to share one bathroom due to waiting to get things done with the faucet in the bathtub. I like being able to just call or go online and pick what I need to get done. Then the next day, they'll schedule it and then come out the second day. That's a good process.

    The service is pretty good. But a lot of the people they send out are Russians and we have a little difficulty understanding them. Other than that, we feel comfortable with the warranty. We added our pool to the coverage a few years back. Whatever if back there, they cover it all if there's a problem. Also, they're quick if you have stuff put in for a repair. We used to have to wait a couple of days to find out who they were going to send out. Now they tell you immediately which company it's going to be. So we know right away and we call them if we haven’t heard from them and we arrange things to our convenience.

    I like American Home Shield. Every time I do a claim online, it's pretty easy. The only problem is when I had an issue with the refrigerator, and they came out and it didn't really fix the issue. When I did a claim a month later, I had to pay my deductible again. It's $100 every time. I called to explain to them that it was the same issue, and they said they were going to refund my money, but they haven't. They also had to come out a third time for my refrigerator, and I just got another bill. If their online stuff had a way to be able to do a recall, you don’t have to pay the $100 upfront to get them to come out.

    American Home Shield uses different providers and other than the providers they use sometimes, I haven't had any problems. It's not any of their fault for the provider they use too. Sears came out once, and after that, they had an independent guy come out, then Sears came out again. The last guy was pretty knowledgeable and really helpful. The ones before that was just like, “Oh, it was stuck.” They fix something then I gotta wait 24 hours to see if it works, but then, it never worked. I've procrastinated at following up on my end as well, but now, my refrigerator is working.

    Without exception, the contractors have been very good, professional and friendly, and they do their jobs quickly and efficiently. When I requested service for the refrigerator, the technician came out very quickly. In fact, I was surprised how fast he got out to our house. He took a thorough look at the refrigerator and determined what part was needed, then followed it up by telling me that the part was unavailable. He couldn't get ahold of the part, and I was contacted by American Home Shield regarding a replacement refrigerator. We got a replacement, and I filed the paperwork for that a week ago. We opted to get a different refrigerator than the one that AHS suggested, and we're due a refund of $1,275 and some change. I'm currently waiting to hear about that.

    Generally, American Home Shield is very good about getting people out to take a look at whatever issues we're having, and I'm happy about that. They have in the past been very timely in replacing or giving us reimbursement for appliances which had gone bad too. When communicating with agents over the telephone though, I've had some difficulty at times in getting my point across or letting them know what exactly I was calling for. It seems that for a number of AHS telephone agents, English is either a second or a third language.

    I like the ability to have repairs done and at a prompt time. However, some of the vendors that American Home Shield uses are not all the same. For an example, I call Amazon. They come out to my house, and they don't fix it. I call back to American Home Shield, bring up the same problem, and Amazon comes back out. That shouldn't happen. I understand their limitations on certain contractors that you can hire and sent to the place, but I would rather not even get anything done than use the same substandard contractor. It only happened to me once about sending the same contractor though.

    I called American Home Shield to submit a claim, and the gentleman asked me if there were any appliances. I did tell them that my stove wasn’t working for a few weeks. They asked me to do a videotape which I did, and they sent somebody to look at them. I was a little annoyed with the video thing because that was right before when I made the phone call, but I can see why it’s useful for the technicians to at least diagnose it instead of driving out here and look at it.

    I've been very happy with the people that have come here. They contact me fast and sent somebody out fast. The first time, the parts did take a few days. I had to call in but apparently, they were having problems getting them. As soon as the parts came, they came in. They were very professional people, and I’m pretty happy with the service.

    Right now, I'm having a bad experience with American Home Shield. I had my air conditioner go out, so I called them and paid my deposit and they sent somebody out here. They looked at it and they named a whole lot of stuff that needed to be replaced and it came up to like $2,500. When I went to them and got them, their slogan was, "If we can't fix it, we'll replace it." They said they couldn't fix it, but they said, "Oh, we can give you $600 toward fixing it." So, foolish enough, I agreed. I took out a loan to get it replaced. I replaced it and they said the check will be here in 6 to 10 business days. That was three weeks ago. I called back and they said, "You need to send in a receipt saying that you got a new air condition." I sent that in on a Monday and they said it should be there by Friday. Friday came, and there was nothing. I called them yesterday. They told me that it takes 20 days to approve it.

    When I filed the claim, they told me I had to pay my deductible. They asked me what the problem was and I told them what it was and I paid the deductible. They looked up a company and they said they were going to send me an email. If I needed to ask any questions to the company, they left me the number. Then, they sent me an email saying, "Okay, it's scheduled at a certain date. His name is Josh and he text you and let you know when he's on his way." When he got out here, he looked at the problem and took a minute, and then he said, "Okay, this is what's wrong with it. This is what's needed to be done. You're gonna have to replace this, you have to replace that, this needs to be done." I said, "Okay. How much is all that gonna cost?" He said, "It's gonna cost you about $2,500." So, I called American Home Shield and I told them what he told me.

    The rep put me on hold, and then she said, "No, we can't cover up to that. But we can send you $600 to help for the cost." I said, "Help for the cost? Only reason that I got y'all is because y'all saying on TV, 'If we can't fix it, we'll replace it.'" We went back and forth. Then I said, "Okay, just go ahead and I'll agree to that. Go ahead and send me the check. Okay." My plan is $40 a month and $100 upfront to them every time I need something replaced. So, I'm not happy with them at all. I wanna cancel them. If I'm gonna continue to pay them monthly for something that I needed repair, I might as well just save the money myself and pay for it myself. I am so disappointed in them.

    They offered a checkup on my air conditioning units. I had two units and one of them wasn't running at all. That was what they told me. So that meant I had to make another $133 call to get them repaired. That was kind of expensive. I wish I had just called for repair on the air conditioner. That would have been a one-time thing rather than two different calls. Also, I'm really displeased with the claim I had when my refrigerator had a leak. The refrigerator and the water line did so much damage until they had to pull up all my floors. So I haven't really used it in a couple of weeks or so.

    My refrigerator wasn't cooling. The bottom half was cooling, but the top half was not cooling. I went to American Home Shield's website and turned in the claim. Their website is really easy to use. I've learned from using it a few times that it's easier if I have the serial number and the model information. If I have a brief idea or description of what my problem is, it's super easy.

    After submitting a claim, I always get an email that says that a contractor is going to be assigned or that a contractor has been assigned. I generally get an email that says who it is. The contractor always calls me to set up an appointment and then they always make arrangements to call me when they're coming. I never had a bad experience with any of the contractors that I've used with American Home Shield. Another thing that I love about them is that it seems like their benefits get better each year. They're always offering something new. Like on their website, they've got now that they'll come out and help you put your TV on the wall if you need it or help you with your Wi-Fi if you need it. It seems like they're getting more and more user-friendly. I've had American Home Shield for years. I have recommended it to people. I’m almost considering buying it as a gift for people. It is the most amazing product. I can't say enough good things about it.

    American Home Shield has saved us a lot of money but has not been very good for us. We've had several issues with them that we're unhappy with. The service people that come out have been very polite and courteous. They do their jobs and we're happy with them. But every time we call American Home Shield, we're put on hold. We sit and wait for somebody to answer our call and it takes considerable time that we're waiting for someone to come back and take our call. We've had so many calls to American Home Shield in the last three months that it's hard to keep each one straight.

    Recently, the stopper on the sink in the bathroom in the basement had to be fixed 'cause it broke. The contractor did fine with that. It's just that the stopper doesn't open wide enough for the water to run out quickly. It takes a long time for the water to run out of the sink after the sink has been stopped up. Even if the sink has not stopped up, it takes a while for the water to run out because there's not enough space there. They had said something about possibly getting a new stopper for the sink and we've not heard back at all from that.

    As far as the washer and dryer goes, American Home Shield has been cost-effective. They're about to rebuild the whole inside of my washer and dryer. The repairman called ahead and did a video which helped him bring the right parts. But American Home Shield had Sears come out do the washer and dryer repair. They got here and checked what was wrong. They had to order parts. It takes about a week to get the parts delivered to the house. Then it takes two more weeks for them to come and make the repair. I need my washer and dryer and it takes too long to get the job completed.

    When I filed a claim for the sink in the kitchen with AHS, the issue was taken care of within 20 minutes. Everything is working fine now. They also took care of the issue the first time with my AC. They sent somebody out and took care of it. But now I have another claim and it's been going on since July 10th. I feel like nobody's worried about it. I'm frustrated because we're in the three-digit temp right now. Nobody's calling me back and nobody's fixing anything like they said they would.

    American Home Shield has taken care of everything that I've called them for. I don't have any complaints about whoever they sent out at all. They've been courteous and they went the extra mile to explain certain things. What I really like about their customer service is when they say they're gonna call you right back, they'll call right back. I will call them in the morning and by that afternoon, I had my appointment set. Overall. AHS is a good company.

    A guy came out and said I needed a new HVAC system. One had to be ordered and shipped, so that took another two weeks. It took three weeks to finally get something installed. I would have appreciated it going through quicker. Also, it's 80 something outside and my house runs constantly at 76. I'm sure it could be colder, but I don't know if I call the place or if I call American Home Shield, and I don't wanna cough up 100 bucks. The co-pays are more than I would like, but it's okay because I've had to get a lot repaired in this new house I just bought. I also had a water heater fixed before that. It would be nice if I didn't have to kick in so much and coming up with 550 to fix my HVAC drained my savings, but it's still better than paying for the whole thousand.

    American Home Shield sends somebody, but nowadays they don't have enough staff. The contractors have a hard time. Usually, it was 24 to 48 hours, but now they said that they have to wait until whatever the contractor’s time. We need a thing fixed so we just have to wait. The recent contractor called us and said they were coming. They did a good job on our AC claim. The tech knew what he was doing, and was very friendly.

    I haven't called American Home Shield since COVID till this last time with the dishwasher and the one before that for the plumber, and both were pleasant. When I put the burners on low on my stove, it would turn off. The tech said there were some accessories on those burners and I said it wasn’t like that. Then, he turned an accessory the other way and now, it works fine. The door of the dishwasher was hard to close and the tech said it was how it is. Then, I was surprised that 10 days later, they got the part. He came and said that he wanted to try to see if it works and it did. Also, when I open the dishwasher, it goes all the way down. I didn't tell him but he fixed it himself.

    I had issues with my garage door in the past and the company that AHS brought wasn't competent. I had to pay money to get somebody else to open the door. But the last two claims with the dishwasher and the plumber were good so I would recommend AHS to a friend. I always call when I reach out to them and sometimes, the reps don’t understand. But they’re decent.

    I'm very happy I took out the warranty plan. I have a side-by-side refrigerator and there was water leaking. It turned out that the L-shaped plastic pipe at the back of the unit wore out. The tech didn't have any in his truck so he had to order me a new piece. He even tried a couple of places that he normally does business with, and they didn't have the model number. He said, “You just won’t have ice or refrigerator water.” I said, “That’s fine. As long as my refrigerator and my freezer is working, I’m fine.” He had to come back, pull the refrigerator out, and fix what he needed to fix. He turned the water that is only for the refrigerator on. He wanted me to constantly run the water through the filter to clean out the tubings. I was very pleased.

    The outside unit was making a loud noise. The tech came and said he needed to replace something. He did whatever he needed to do. And on the paperwork, he said repaired. So, he just repaired what needed to, and it has been working since. I like American Home Shield's service as long as everything works okay after they repair it, and the people do what they are supposed to do and they're not disrespectful. They just do what they're supposed to do and leave.
