    AHS is insane in a good way. When the tech for my AC came, I've never seen anybody so knowledgeable. He was fast and had all the stuff on his truck. The problem was fixed immediately. AHS hires really good people. I like knowing that everything is covered and I don't have to worry about having this massive expense. I'd rather pay the $60 or $75 every month and know that everything's covered. It's just $100 to call anybody out. We've had several things that’s gone down that costs a lot, and yet they covered it. But if they can’t fix it to a new status, they buy you a new one.

    There was a leak and it was dripping from the top floor to the lower floor. It took the plumber about two days to come out but he was great. He went in there, diagnosed the problem and recommended the solution. However, American Home Shield's coverages have declined from when we first started using them to what they are now. A lot of the coverage goes up to a certain point, then we're stuck with paying the rest of the repair. On the plumbing coverage, if a pipe bursts, that's supposed to be covered. But the plumber said, "You have an old pipe, so we got to do all this extra repair." American Home Shield covered just the replacement cost of the piece of pipe and labor. But the additional work was out of pocket and that usually runs a couple hundred.

    We've also had that happen with an air conditioning unit. One air conditioner was over 3,000 and another one was over 5,000 where we just had to replace the whole system because their coverage says they'll repair the AC, but in reality, they don't. They'll just go up to a certain point. It's one those fine print details but that's not specified upfront.

    Recently was the first time that we called them about the plumbing, and it was so good. They put us in contact with the contractor and we told them we have to have a weekend because I'm not mobile so my husband would have to be here. They said that was fine. The tech knew exactly what to do and he made it so simple. He had to do the roto rooter through the house underneath. We were afraid that they were gonna have to break up the bathroom and take everything up. But we didn't have to do any of that. We were pleasantly surprised.

    We had AHS for a short time for the house that we lived in while we were selling it. We had to use them for a hot water heater during the selling process, which was real stressful. They were perfect.

    I was out of town and my son emailed me and told me that the AC wouldn’t turn on. I did a claim to American Home Shield. When I got back home, they had fixed it but it was making a weird noise. The guy went upstairs and he said that a fan in there was messed up. He fixed that, too. Ever since then, it’s been great. I dealt with the guy the second time. My son dealt with him the first time. Talking to my son and what I dealt with, the guy was really professional. He was a lot better than the last guy they sent out for the washer and dryer.

    I've had some good experiences and bad experiences. I have a kitchen faucet that was supposed to be fixed back in May and I'm still waiting on the part because it's not working again. The tech came out and didn't have the right part. The tech said he would call his supplier to get the part. I'm still waiting for the parts and it has been a week. I could have just called Kohler and got them sent. But Sergio doesn't want to use their parts because he said he wants to use his own part. But he replaced the o-rings on the kitchen faucet with the o-rings that Kohler sent me. And he came out and replaced the o-ring on the sprayer, which was good and that worked. However, the kitchen faucet went out in May, when it started leaking in May, and it started leaking again when I came home and the technician had to come out in July. I had to have a new service request. So, there should be more than two months between when something breaks and when it breaks again.

    My AC went out, so I called American Home Shield. The technicians who came were very friendly and efficient. We had an issue with certain things not being approved in the past due to misunderstandings. I think it's from whoever takes the call because they were foreign-based. They didn't understand exactly what the issue was, so it got denied.

    It used to take a very long time to get someone on the phone at AHS. Also, when I had an issue where my washing machine went out, the people that they assigned it to were saying they couldn't get out of here for a week. That wasn't going to fly, so I called AHS and they were able to find somebody that could come the next day. Other than that, I have been very satisfied lately with AHS. When I filed service requests for a microwave and a washing machine that stopped working, I got the replacements quickly for both. It took around a week's time from the time I ordered the replacements to the time the company came and installed them.

    I wasn't too happy about the $10 increase in the price of my contract, but outside of that, I have no complaints. I call in or set up things online, and American Home Shield replies promptly and provides me with a server real quick to handle my issues. I'm happy with the service, and I like it a lot. The guy from the plumbing place was so amazing that I said, “Oh, man, if I can keep this guy as my personal plumber, I would not be upset.” He came in, answered every question accurately and knew what he was talking about. He was straight to the point, and it didn't even take him that long to figure out what the issue was. I said, “Okay, he has a lot of experience under his belt.” I was impressed. I've had American Home Shield before, and every time I've ever had any one of their agents come by, everybody has always been very professional and nice.     Service was pretty good. But there is a 40-minute wait every time I call and most of the people don't speak English as well as one would hope. Also, it's hard to get a hold of a supervisor. But the techs are good. They did an AC repair and did plumbing. They're having to come back and redo but I haven't heard from them. By having AHS, I don't have to pay the full service fees and I get faster service.

    We had a problem with our air conditioner at our house. American Home Shield assigned a company and the company is Fast Response Heating & Cooling. They were supposed to come out Monday but they were a no-call, no-show. That is the second time that they've done that to me. American Home Shield seems to be responsive whenever I call them to complain about the company that they have contracted but at this point, we have reached an impasse. But they're saying that they have contracted Fast Response Heating & Cooling so they have to let them complete the call and get me working again. American Home Shield is responsible for this because it’s their contractor.

    My refrigerator went out one time and it was over three months before I got another one. Parts never did come in. When they did come in, I had already bought a refrigerator and told them "Just do what you have to do to close this out on that case or whatever." I had to go and buy a refrigerator during the summertime months. I have children, and I can't be without a refrigerator. Also, technicians have been out six times to fix my washing machine for the same thing. One time American Home Shield paid over $300 for repairs, which was ridiculous. Then somebody came back out for the same thing. The machine won't wring out the clothes. The people they’re sending out are piecing it together like band-aiding it.

    AHS should improve on getting their parts a little bit quicker and where they get their parts from so that they could service their customers. I understand we have a pandemic going on and parts are delayed, but they don't get back to you. They don't say anything. They just leave you hanging. They don't call you back and say, "We're still waiting on the part. We haven't forgot you." Nobody is responding back to the customers that they're still working on it. It's just like you got to call them. AHS can improve on its customer service and let the customer know they still have not received the part or if they don't receive parts at a certain amount of time, then they need to go to another step to satisfy the customer. It's not hard to take our money, but it is sure hard to get our things fixed at times.

    My oven was reading F3, which caused a beeping noise. When the stove reaches the temperature that it's supposed to reach, it beeps. This was a continuation of beeping. Also, the display was not working. I spoke with an American Home Shield rep on the phone. The tech came and replaced the sensor, and he had to order the display and that took a couple of weeks. He came as soon as he got that and replaced that.

    American Home Shield’s service has been pretty good and I got what I expected out of it for the first couple of years. But the last time I had a claim, it was like pulling teeth to try to get somebody to come out here and take care of it. And we're really no further along now than we were almost a month ago when I put the work order in for the air conditioner. We have seven in our house, so it's not like it's end-all, be-all. But it’s in our garage and we use our garage for more than just cars. It's 105 degrees here for the last 45 days, so it gets a little warm in there.

    When I first called, it was July 6th and somebody was out within two days. But the tech said he'd be here between 2 o'clock and 5 o'clock, and he showed up about 7 o'clock. Then, he didn't do anything and said he didn't have time to work on it because it was too late. This was on a Thursday evening and the tech said that he would be here first thing Saturday morning if that was okay with me. When I asked what would be first thing, he said it would be between 7:00 and 8:00. So, I said that was fine. But Saturday morning came and went. I called and left messages and emails for the next week but nobody would return my call. I called American Home Shield and they just said they'd let me know.

    Three weeks went by and finally, for the eighth time, I told AHS that I needed them to find me a different company to work on this. So, they found another company, then somebody came out and was working on it. The guy knew what he was talking about. He said that we need a part and now we're waiting on the part. All in all, the problem is 25% American Home Shield and 75% the contractors that they're using, which kind of goes back on them.

    The washing machine stopped draining. I filed a claim with American Home Shield. They assigned a contractor, CRJ Enterprises. They performed an inspection on the washing machine. They said it could be repaired potentially, but it would be a very short-term repair. Most of the components internally were rusted out, so it needed a transmission and a water pump. They said pretty much that whenever they put a new transmission in it, it would provide too much torque, and it would just strip the washing machine out. So, his opinion was that it just needed to be replaced. That was what he referred to American Home Shield.

    As part of the process, American Home Shield sent me an email after CRJ had sent in their recommendations. I had the option of either going through their website and they would have shipped a washing machine to me, or I could just wait a couple of days and they could send me a gift card. At that time, I used the gift card along with my own money to purchase a new machine.

    I would potentially recommend AHS to a friend because there is a cost-saving to that. However, in my region, they don't have a whole lot of contractors that are in their service that take them as a customer. For, heating and cooling, the one service that they have is not a very reputable company. They came out, serviced my air conditioner and then 33 days after they serviced it, I had to have another company come out and service it again through American Home Shield. So, the thing that's important about 33 days is you have only 30 days of warranty after that company leaves to call in a complaint. The only other thing that I would add about American Home Shield is it gets a little bit frustrating as they outsource their call center. Sometimes there are difficulties understanding who you're talking to. There may be difficulties in them completely understanding your situation. But overall, they save you money in the long run.

    We specifically bought extra coverage because we had a hot tub. The last claim that we had was when our hot tub had a leak. But when we got down to it, the specifics said that the only spas that were covered were in-ground spas and not above-ground spas. So the claim was denied. The verbiage was a little misleading. But we did have some appliances that didn't work that American Home Shield replaced for us. So that was nice. In general, the service is good. But it depends on the providers. It's hard to find people to work on stuff these days. So sometimes it takes a little bit longer for people to respond than others. When I can do the service request online, it's nice. But if I have to call, it takes longer because I have to hold for about 20 to 30 minutes.

    I set up a contract with American Home Shield in May and paid for a whole year of service. That would give me a discount if I paid for the whole year. I used them for a claim for the first time and the gentleman that came had a long conversation with my father then left a copy of the diagnosis he had. On the diagnosis, the issue had nothing about hail damage or anything weather-related. When I called to get the diagnosis from American Home Shield, they said that the technician said that it was due to hail damage. We haven't had a hailstorm in over five years. But the home warranty would not listen to me and they were not believing what I was saying. I asked them to call the gentleman and they said they did and they confirmed that it was hail damage. When I called the company, Service Pro, they denied saying that. But they had sent pictures and American Home Shield made their diagnosis based on those.

    American Home Shield closed that ticket and denied the claim. The agents were just not willing to work with me until I spoke to someone in retention named Jose. He was the one that set up a second opinion. The supervisor, Ryan, said, "We're going to deny it anyway if we give you a second opinion.'" He said that he will agree to give me back my full refund along with the service fee. I have yet to hear back from them.

    A second technician from another company come out yesterday. He didn't leave any paperwork. He said that there were other things wrong with the unit where basically the HVAC needed to be replaced. American Home Shield said it was hail damage again, denied it, and closed the ticket. My son and I have been sitting in the heat going on two weeks now.

    One toilet wasn't working at all and one was leaking. I called on the a Sunday and the contractor called me Monday to make an appointment for Wednesday. On Wednesday, they were supposed to come and my appointment was from 1:00 to 4:00. I had to go to work and it was 4:00 and the tech still wasn't there. So, they made the appointment for Friday. But they called me that Thursday and said a guy could come then. That was good because Friday would have been wrong for me. The tech fixed both of the toilets.

    I like that AHS gives me more peace of mind when it comes to repairs for my home. But I'm gonna cancel because it's $100 a month. That's a lot. I could just save that myself.

    My washer wasn't going through a complete cycle. It would get as far as the rinse spin cycle, and then it would just start over again. Abella came out and I was very pleased with the service that they supplied. They said a lot of times, the issue is caused when the shock system under the tub wears out, and then the wobbling causes the machine to try to trigger itself to restart. So the tech replaced the shocks. It took away all the little shimmy and shake.

    After a couple of loads, the problem came back again so I let American Home Shield know about that. They said that they would send somebody else out. But the same gentleman came back and he said he thought that it could have been a control panel problem.     Filing claims to American Home Shield has been terrible. I submitted a claim three times before they finally got it right, and it took over a month to get somebody out here. He did a fantastic job. He said that there was a pinhole leak in my Freon line. He said he sealed it up with the dye he put in it, but he said that if we have any problems within 90 days, we can call the company back and they'll come back out for no additional charge.

    The AC unit was turning on, but it wasn’t blowing anything out through the vents. I had a technician from another company already come over to diagnose the problem. So that way, whoever American Home Shield sent out, they would already have an idea of what was going on. American Home Shield sent Amazing Comfort and they found out that it wasn’t the blower motor, as the original company had said, but rather it was the squirrel cage bolt that came loose and fell down. So it was a quick fix. The tech took about 20 minutes. He was great. He was very punctual, and courteous. He gave me a heads-up call when he was about 10 minutes away from the house, which helped me out. I didn’t have to ask him to put on the booties before walking through the house, he just automatically did that. He was very professional, and efficient.

    I put it in a claim for the hot water heater and for a pipe leak with American Home Shield. You can do more than one claim if it's the same category and you only have to pay that one service fee. The tech I had was extremely difficult to deal with. He would say he would be here at one time then he wouldn't notify us ahead of time that he wouldn't be coming. We would sit around all day waiting for him then he would text us mid-afternoon and say, “Sorry, I didn't come. I'll be there at this time.” That was probably a week or two of runaround with him. When he came out, I told him I only wanted what American Home Shield was going to cover. We had a filtration system on. He said American Home Shield didn't cover to get that replaced so I told him that I didn't have the extra money to put on it.

    He called me back later that afternoon after his initial visit and he told me that he was going to cover that out of pocket at his own expense. I told him he didn't have to but he insisted on doing it. We allowed him to do it because he told us, “I'm the owner of the company. You don't have to worry about it. I'll take care of it.” With that being said, I had to text him and communicate with him that way because it was easier for me with my children. Sometimes it was harder for me to answer the phone.

    With that experience, I was holding a general conversation with him. But he got a little inappropriate, which made me uncomfortable so we just refused. We told American Home Shield we didn't want him back here because of how inappropriate he was and how uncomfortable it made me. He pointed out on his initial visit that I was attractive and that I wasn't wearing a bra. This is my home. If I don't want to wear a bra, I don't have to. But being a professional and coming to do work inside of my home, he should never have pointed that out. I immediately called my husband. The Friday that he was supposed to come out and fix the shower leak, I wasn't gonna be able to have my husband home because he's a truck driver. My father-in-law had my two youngest children, so he couldn't come. I ended up cancelling the service because I didn't want to be here by myself with him coming over.

    The tech was able to fix the hot water heater and put the filter housing. But he never finished our shower leak issue. The only thing that he did on the shower was he cut a hole in my ceiling. He never come back, which in a way was because I cancelled on him coming back. I held him up from fixing the shower. But then again, it was his fault because he shouldn't have acted inappropriately. He then would have been able to finish the job.

    My experience with American Home Shield had its ups and downs. We've had a few people that have called us and we've tried to explain the whole situation to them. They were just very rude to work with. I had a guy yesterday that called me about the filtration system and I tried to explain to him he's the fifth different person that we talked to about the same situation. He ended up hanging up on me. That's not really good customer service. We did have some people who have been very understanding and who wanted to help us.

    On the whole, my husband and I have the best plan and we feel like we don't matter to American Home Shield. We got told that we were not telling the truth about there being a hole in our ceiling from the plumber. I said, “We can gladly email you pictures or email you my discussion with this dude to show you how inappropriate he as being.” We have a video of the shower leaking. The rep was just very ugly to my husband and hung up on him. Our shower leak has now gotten worse. It used to be just the drain leaking, now it's so bad to where it's ruining our floor. Water is going under our floor in our shower and that’s creating a whole other problem for us. And that's not fair to us. We pay $80 a month to get this stuff taken care of. We chose to do American Home Shield and we are getting the runaround. American Home Shield really isn't wanting to help us fix the problem, which is extremely irritating.

    Anybody who’s come out from American Home Shield has been great. Nobody has been bad or gave us any bad advice or did bad work. The people are very nice and knowledgeable about what they do in the department. If they can't do it, at least they're honest about what they can do and refer us to somebody else in the company that can do it. So they're very helpful. The last recent company that came did our toilet and the floor. The toilet was leaking water, so they had to seal it and put in the floorboards. AHS has someone come out and service our pool every year as well, and they turn it on and off. Overall, American Home Shield is a good company, and they save us money. If we regularly call somebody else, it'll be twice or three times the amount of money.

    Some rats chew through my AC wire on the outside of the house but they did it in such a fashion that it really destroyed all the wires and the AC wouldn't turn back on again. So I called American Home Shield and paid the 75 bucks. I know that they take a little bit of time to reach out to the techs, so a minute later, I gave the contractor, Crispy Air, a call and told them the ticket number through American Home Shield. Then they started the process and a couple of days later, the tech came out first thing in the morning. Two hours later, he rewired it all and the AC was back up.

    I've also called AHS before and it seemed like there are a lot of exclusions. For example, with this AC claim, I had to pay out of pocket since AHS wouldn't cover it. It’s considered force majeure. Then the last time I needed techs to come out, it took two weeks before they came and did some inspection. After that, I needed to have a float switch changed, and it was considered maintenance. So I've called three times and only one time did AHS cover anything.

When I'm asking for a certain thing, like when I asked them about fixing the bathroom, I just have to explain myself a couple of times. It’s just me having a hard time understanding them.     I needed to use American Home Shield on two occasions with horrible responses. My water heater went out 6 months ago and AHS never sent anyone to fix it despite frequent calls to them. I had to pay to have the water heater fixed. Last week my air conditioner went out in 100 degree heat. Again, AHS said they would have the company they use call me. No one ever called. I called the company assigned to my case and no one ever answered. I subsequently found out the company I was to use had filed bankruptcy!! I had to pay $8000 for a new air conditioner. I am so furious with this company and I cancelled them immediately. I paid $46+ per month for absolutely NO SERVICE.

    I recently purchased a property for short-term rentals. I decided to purchase a home warranty so that I am covering in case anything goes wrong. I experienced my first issue a few weeks after purchasing the warranty. My HVAC unit was not cooling off the house. It was very difficult to reach somebody to, and take a look at the unit. You cannot make a claim or do anything before paying the service free. Eventually a servicing company contacted but was unable to take a look at the unit for a few days as it was a holiday weekend. I contacted 3 other AC companies who took a look at the unit and told me that the unit needs to be replaced. Eventually, when the service people came to look at the unit, they washed down the unit, added some cooling liquid, and told me that the unit is working despite it being unable to cool off the house. Needless to say, I had to replace the unit on my own (as it was "working" and were unwilling to stand behind their product).

    A few weeks later, I decided to try once more. I had a few small items related to my pool that were not functioning, (water jets, pool heater cover, etc.). I decided to make a second claim. Despite paying additional money for full pool coverage, it turns out for some reason or another they found ways not to cover this claim either. I have spent literally hours on the phone, trying to get reimbursed for the additional insurance of purchased, (I am still within the window of cancellation). I spoken to multiple departments. I keep getting the runaround. They make it extremely difficult to cancel anything or get any sort of reimbursement. As of today, things are still not resolved. Please do yourself a favor and do not get involved. He will save yourself a lot of money, time, and stress.

    The claims process was pretty quick. I called in and got to the automated responses. I was real surprised that they connected me, and then sent me an email, let me know that the contractor would be coming out. Everyday Heating and Cooling called me the next day and said they would be out the following day, which was a Saturday, between 11:00 and 8:00. They showed up about 10:00 in the morning and they were done in 15 minutes. I couldn't believe how quickly they got it fixed.

    It was fairly easy to do the claim for the AC unit. I also sent in a claim when I had an issue with the microwave. American Home Shield sent out a technician to diagnose the microwave. He found out there was a issue with the microwave, but he said, “Hey, we don't fix microwaves.” So they put another claim in for a different contractor and they replaced the microwave. So that was good. But I had an issue with the garage claim. American Home Shield doesn't cover much for the garage. So that was a bust of paying a deductible for that. That's probably due to the policy I have because I heard if you have a super different policy, then everything like a garage is pretty much covered.

    When I called in to make my order, the person at American Home Shield asked if I got any other issues concerning plumbing so the techs could address it when they got out here. So I let them know the other things that I was concerned about and that I didn't know where the leak was coming from. When the first plumber came out, he said that the leak was coming from under the kitchen sink, then he screwed a bold and said that it was loose. It was not even five minutes and he said that should take care of the problem. He also went to look at the bathroom upstairs and gave me a price since he noticed that my tub was cracked. He said I might need to replace the tub or I was going to have a leak eventually.

    That night, I heard all this dripping again. So, I called the tech back out and he said he couldn't come back out until about three days later. When he came back, he acted like he didn't know what he was here for. I told him that he was here because my sink was still dripping and that the leak came downstairs in the bathroom downstairs from under the cabinet. So apparently, he didn't know where the leak came from. He said that he was told to cut something out on my ceiling, but I told him that that was the least of my concerns.

    So then, when he left, he said he couldn't repair it and that they had to replace the faucet. I requested that he not come back out because he just acted like he didn't know what to do. I didn't get to use my water until another tech was out. I had to turn off the hot water and he had to turn that off under the bottom. So, I had to wait and AHS told another contractor to come out.

    When another person came and fixed my sink, he did a great job and he knew what he was doing. I asked him about the ceiling and he said nobody told him about that, but he took a picture of it. I also spoke a couple of times with Wendy, the manager at Bestway from where the second plumber was from, and she said they used to do the whole sink, but they don't have anybody to do the drywall nicely anymore. So, she said that a third party comes in and repairs it. And once their plumber replaced the plumbing, that would happen. Initially, American Shield told me that my ceiling would be fixed, but now, I'm told that it's not covered and that it's a secondary something. But it was caused by the leak.

    Every two years, I'm getting a water heater. Every time I get one, I'm out of pocket $600 to $700. It's like I'm paying AHS 93 a month for a referral. They look for a plumber or an electrician and I pay my service call. The contractors can charge whatever they want. AHS has a fee but they have a lot of hidden charges that they pass on and we have to pay.

    The last couple of times I had my AC serviced, by the time AHS got through, I'm paying $3,000 out of my pocket. I don’t use American Home Shield for my AC anymore. I ended up getting a contractor and I've had no problems in the last three years with my AC. When AHS people come, I can get a cash-out. They'll pay me but then I get charged more. When I go independently to get anything done, it's cheaper. Don't get AHS. I don't need them to refer. I can find my own.

    I’ve used American Home Shield twice. The way the service works is fine. I can go online, request someone to come out, and they come out fairly soon. When my dishwasher was not working, a contractor came in and told me what the situation was. They told me someone had installed something improperly in the dishwasher.

    For the HVAC unit, they told me to get some magnets and put it over the vents. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. They didn't have a fix. My house wasn’t getting cool up in the second floor and they indicated that that was an issue with how the vents were working. The return from downstairs was stronger than the upstairs. By placing the magnets on there, it made the upstairs stronger. They switched the area where the air came out. To me, that seemed suspicious. It seems there should be a fix for it other than me doing magnets. But the repairman was good. They had some bad reviews online, but he did a great job in terms of telling my family what was going on, explaining to them the process and why it needed magnets. He took time to show people what was going on.

    I've had a couple of claims with American Home Shield, but whenever they fix something, it doesn’t last, like with the garbage disposal. There was a problem with the machine, and they changed it to something standard, then after a few months, it's not working anymore. When I had American Home Shield change the faucet in the shower room, they replaced it with a very basic one. The water on top of the faucet gets retained, and after a few months, the faucet already has some discoloration on top of it.

    American Home Shield replaces things with new ones, but they're basic and we aren't given any options. When the repair people arrive, that's already the item they're going to install. Even though that really doesn’t go well with the finishes. For the faucet, that was exactly the very thing that I didn’t want of the service. We use it pretty much every day, and it doesn’t look good with the sink. Other than that, the rest is fine.

    On the very last claim I did, I canceled and told American Home Shield they couldn't do the service because I had COVID. I didn't want anybody to get exposed. So, the first service wasn't done. I called after a month when everything was clear for me. When I submitted a claim for the same issue online, I didn’t know that it was taking me to a new work order. I was just following up. So, I called customer service to have them handle the issue and tell them that I got charged twice with my card. Their response was, “We'll just leave it there. And then if we’re not able to do the first original service, then we have a backup.” I told them, “Well, that was a system error. That’s why I was charged a second one. So, I don’t want the second one to be done at all. We will stick with the first one." The customer rep kept on insisting, but then he ended up reversing the second charge and we went with the original service.

    It took several days to get the tech out here when I submitted a claim for the AC. I was glad that it intermittently, at least, working in the meantime. The tech gave me some ideas about what was going on with the unit and what it might cost to replace it. It seems to be working okay now. The call went well. However, when you'd call American Home Shield, you’d get a recording. The computer would say something about, “Would you like this charged to the account that we bill you with every month?” I said no because I needed to charge that to a different card. It immediately said, “Okay, we're putting the charge to…” It didn't ask me for any other method of payment. So, I had to call back and speak to a person and then he canceled that call, and then we put in another call manually with the card I wanted to use. Other than that, the person was wonderful.

    I had a backup with the toilet. Submitting the claim was easy and I got notified the same day that it was assigned to somebody. It was quick. But I had a little bit of a problem with the contractor. They didn't have any equipment with them. If I tell you that the toilet is clogged, why wouldn't you come with the equipment to unclog it? I was going out of town that next morning and therefore, I had to wait a whole nother week. I tried calling and I spoke to somebody at American Home Shield but she didn't understand what I was saying.

    I already paid $130 for the contractor to come out. But the tech told me that if he snakes it or uses some kind of machine because he has to go remove the toilet, it was going to cost me $350 or $475. I said, “Well, it's got to be fixed. Are you going to make a mess?” He said, “No. I’ll just take the toilet off and snake it, and I'm done.” It was a week later when he came back with the equipment. He looked at it and said, “Oh, I'm a little bit worried about taking this toilet up. I don't want to ruin your floors.” I said, “I asked you that before.” Then he said, “Well, let me see if I can go through the shower.” So he ended up snaking it through the shower. I watched him and it unclogged. But I still had to pay $350. I don't know why I had to pay $350 for him for 10 minutes.

    My air wasn’t working. I filed the claim with AHS, the techs came right out, and it was fixed. I've heard of other people who had major problems with AHS but so far, I haven't had any issues as far as them handling the claims or anything that I've used it for. I like filing my claims on the app or online because within 5 or 10 minutes, I get assigned a contractor. Then I get a text and an email. And within the next 24 hours, I get contact from the contractor. I’ve also never had a bad or rude contractor come out and if the job is something they can handle, they fix it.

    AHS has a decent price to get stuff worked on, and if it goes bad, they stand behind the product. So I could get a new one. They did a great job with my recent claim for the oven.     We're in the process of selling our home and we needed to get our AC serviced as part of the contingency. I contacted American Home Shield and said, "Hey. I just need a basic AC service." They sent out Grace Heating & Air and the tech added three pounds of Freon. He said, "Okay. Your AC is fine. Everything's good to go.”

    Three days later, the AC unit goes out. So we called American Home Shield and we got a hold of Grace. They sent the same guy out and he ran some tests. He said, "Yeah. You got a bad breaker switch." He decided to run a couple of more tests. And throughout the course of the testing that he ran, he ended up shorting out the compressor. He claimed to American Home Shield that that was a power surge when in fact, it was actually due to him jumping one circuit to another in the electrical box and doing electrician work that he's not certified to do. We've been dealing with it since July the 2nd and it's still yet to be rectified. We've been without air conditioning for almost a month now.

    We've escalated the problem higher than the escalation department and we've gotten a hold of the Vice President of Sales for Frontdoor, the parent company of American Home Shield. She has gotten us in contact with the Executive VP of Customer Relations to get the matter fixed. We had to have another electrician tell us that there's nothing wrong with our breaker box. We also had to have another AC company come to say, "Your compressor is blown. We have to order one." We found out yesterday that the compressor finally got to the vendor and they've got it scheduled to be installed this Friday.

    When we spoke to somebody in the escalation department when the issue first happened, there was nobody that could make a decision. They would have to escalate it to another team, which would be another two or three days. It was almost next to impossible for us to get ahold of the right person. So we had to go pretty high up the food chain in order to make that happen. In an emergency situation, which we were in, somebody should be available to make a temporary approval or concession to be able to make it right based on the circumstances. I was playing this massive waiting game. Once we got hold of the Executive VP of Customer Relations, she was able to approve to reimburse us for an additional window unit that we had to purchase and provide us some kind of remedy rather than just waiting for a phone call. Other than that, AHS has always been prompt and responsive.

    The air conditioner was blowing cool, but not cold. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the internet. I went on their website, submitted the claim, and said the air conditioner wasn't blowing cold. It was fairly easy. They sent me the name of the company that was coming and when they would be contacting me. The service provided was great. I had no issues using them. Austin was a great company to work with. They were really easy to talk with and they were very understanding of the problems I was having. Their technician came in and took readings at a few different vents and then compared that to the return air temperature. After he got those readings, he determined that it may be low with Freon and went up and check pressures and it was low. He put some Freon back in the system and then let it run for a little while, and then came back in and took readings at the same vents again. Everything's performing the way it should be.

    The directional valve in the shower would shut the water and when the repair people came, they told me there was nothing wrong with it. I had to send them a video. I asked if they saw it dripping because I wasn’t complaining about the direction of the water but that it wasn’t fuming. Once the water was off, the water would stop coming out of the head. They said they would see if they could get the directional valve replaced and they were able to get that taken care of. I haven’t had any issues with American Home Shield. They’re good.

    AHS is pretty prompt. If I need something to be taken care of, they get someone out right away and take care of the problem. If the issue cannot be resolved then the techs let AHS know and they take the next step. Recently, the compressor of the refrigerator went out. The tech decided it was time to get another one. He was very friendly and helpful. But I wish AHS would add electronic items like televisions, DVD players and computers to the coverage.

    American Home Shield sent two to three different contractors who couldn’t diagnose the issue of my air conditioner. When Air Doc came out, they were able to find the problem within 10 minutes. The tech was a good person. I really looked forward to him coming back to fix it. I was told that the parts were here on July 2nd. American Home Shield had the tech scheduled to come back here. But when I contacted him myself, he said the home warranty company doesn't make my appointments for him. That was the last time I heard from him.

    American Home Shield has been trying to call him. Every time I call, they call him. He stopped answering the phone for a follow-up appointment to come and fix the air conditioner. I’ve been calling for over a month. Instead of American Home Shield sending out another contractor to complete the job, they keep telling me I would get a call back within 24 hours or they're gonna keep trying to call the tech.

    The issue with the air conditioner was the evaporator coil. The reps mentioned some other things but their English was not that good so I couldn't understand everything else they were saying. When I called, I had to speak to a supervisor first. They told me that a supervisor wasn't available and I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours. I was told I was supposed to get a call back within a couple of hours and that was three days ago. I’ve been getting the runaround.

    It's extremely hot in my house and I'm almost ready to cancel my services with American Home Shield because they keep giving me an appointment and sending people here to do the same exact thing. They had a diagnosis over a month ago. Every time they send out somebody else, they are doing a whole new evaluation of my AC, which I understand because they're a different company. But if they have a diagnosis, they should just be sending out someone to really fix my AC versus techs coming out and doing a diagnosis and not coming up with anything.

    The job was changing the gasket inside the tank. The plumbers were good about showing up. They did a good job. The guy had it done in five minutes. He knew what he was doing. But we had a problem earlier that American Home Shield asked if we wanted someone to come in and check our air conditioner. The guy didn’t do the job right. We wanted him to check over the air conditioning. He told us that our air conditioner downstairs doesn’t work, and he would report it to AHS. He never reported it. Also, if we pay him to come in and inspect, he's supposed to clean the grills on the outside. He didn’t do anything. Other than that, AHS been doing a decent job.

    So far, American Home Shield's service is good. I couldn't get somebody out to my house quick enough. I was without air conditioning for about 10 days when it was about 100 degrees here. Thankfully, I was only out on my upstairs unit. So, I still had air downstairs. It wasn't a terribly horrible thing, but they didn't have anybody available to come for a decent amount of time.

    The first time somebody came out was just for a service call to clean the units and service them. Then because of that, the service rep indicated, "In a couple of days, you might notice it’s not working anymore" because apparently, that does something with Freon when they do all this work. It shows up a leak and sure enough, that was what happened. It was about three days later. The company that came out the first time was going to be like a week before they could come. I said, "Well, that's an awful long time." The rep said, "Well, if you reach back out to American Home Shield, they can reassign it to somebody else who maybe could come sooner." I did what she said and I called them. They wasted a whole day trying to get it reassigned and they couldn't tell me what happened.

    It took like an extra day or two for them to get the things reassigned to another company who in fact had to come two days later than I could have gotten with the first company. So, this was a cluster of disasters, which was a little frustrating, but it's fixed now. Overall, I like the service. I don't have to go hunt for somebody. They'll do that, which is an advantage of having it. I'm glad I have it. It was just a little frustrating when they couldn't get out here quick enough.

    I like what the warranty is supposed to do regarding being able to contact them and have them pay a service fee and have them make the repairs. I have a flue that's connected to my hot water tank and it's leaking. When I called American Home Shield, I explained it three times. The flue that connects to the hot water tank and goes up to the roof is leaking every time it rains and I need the flue repaired. AHS wrote it up incorrectly and assigned it to the incorrect service provider. It should have been assigned to HVAC. So, plumbing came out and said it was an HVAC issue. The tech also said to let AHS know.

    I called AHS back and said, "They said that's not their responsibility, that that's covered by HVAC." The lady that I was on the phone with put me on hold, came back and said AHS doesn't cover flue. I said that should have been told to me when I called and explained three times on the phone with the individual. I specifically said it was the flue. She said they shouldn't have created the ticket. So, I asked if I will be reimbursed my $100. She said, "No, a service provider came out already." I was very upset with that and I said, "Well, had the person maybe understood what a flue was, maybe they wouldn't have created the ticket in the first place." So, we went back and forth. But she put me on hold again, came back and gave me a refund for the $100 for that service fee.

    But my issue with AHS is that they don't want to replace it. They will just keep putting a band-aid on your items until you almost get into a fight with them over the phone to get your item replaced. They've replaced a dryer for me and they sent four different service calls to my house. I kept telling them, "Listen, it's not getting fixed." And I had to pay two service charges on that. That was $200. They finally decided the fourth time, after I started complaining and saying, "I want to talk to a supervisor. Give me a phone number, give me this, give me that," they would replace it. The other thing is their call center does not understand English that well. That is part of the reason why there's a lot of miscommunications regarding what needs to be done and what needs to be communicated to the customers.

    I've had to tell AHS a few of their service providers are horrible. Horrible in some of the repairs that they did, especially on my furnace. The last, it was a Budget HVAC. I told AHS to never send them back to my home. They provide a poor service. I'm going to keep them until I find another company and I will just keep fighting.

    I have peace of mind with American Home Shield. We have some hiccups, still dealing with some stuff, but that’s out of their control. For the most part, everything that has been an issue has been repaired except my microwave being installed. But I'm just waiting on the fillers for that. The communication sometimes can be off with AHS as far as letting us know what's going on. But other than that, everything's fine. My dishwasher went out and within a couple of days, A Plus Appliance came out. Then, they sent their reports back to AHS. The tech couldn’t repair the dishwasher so it was replaced. He was waiting on me to see what kind of product I wanted to order. So, it took less than two weeks. When I ordered it, they normally just give you an estimate but it came within a couple of days and they scheduled my appointment, and the tech came and installed it.

    I put in two claims. But I got disappointed with one claim. My hot water heater went bad and American Home Shield sent M&S Plumbing out there. They came out the first time but they didn't fix it. So American Home Shield sent them back again and they replaced the water heater. They took the water heater out of the box and put it on the side of my house. I couldn't see it if we come out to the garage. Plus, the old water heater is still up in the loft right now. When I called American Home Shield, I told the rep about it because the tech told me, "Look, we can't take the water heater down right now because it's too full, the water that was in it. So you have to let it evaporate out of there, then call them back." It took almost three weeks for that thing to get light.

    I called M&S Plumbing and left them a message. But they would not return my phone call. So then I called American Home Shield to let them know what was going on and that the job is not complete until they remove that water heater and do away with it. I'm not responsible for that. I'm paying for my service. So a guy told me, "I will give them a call and call you back." He called M&S Plumbing and they told them that I will have to take out another service request for them to come back. I said, "Why I want to do that for when it was never completed in the first place?" But the guy got smart with me. So I told him, "You know what? I see how this is going. What it is, you covering up for the people that come out to service the customer. But I see what it is, it's a money thing."

    I got to pay another $100 for them to come back out to take this water heater down or else they're not going to do it. That right there really upset me. If I ever have any more plumbing problems, I don't want M&S Plumbing back on my property. So now, I got to pay somebody to come out and move the old water heater. I'd never trust M&S Plumbing again. But other than that, I'm glad I got American Home Shield.

    I had May Heating check out my AC unit. I had an issue at first with them because when they told me that they were going to come, they didn't come. When they said they were coming, I had to go to Florida where we move from an emergency because of my mother. But when I got back, they sent me another message. But when I called them, they couldn't be reached. It was either the answering machine, the answering service, or it just couldn't get through, and nobody would call. But as far as the technician, he was superb.

    I told the technician right from the get-go, "Sir, if there's going to be a problem with me getting service for my AC or what have you or if you believe that you have to take something out and replace it, it's not my job to remove any work that you guys leave behind. That's not my job." He said, "Sir, no, no, no." I explained to him the reason why I was sounding like that, but I'm not taking anything out on it. I'm just letting him know. I explained to him what was happening and he did his work. He was in and out of there for about 45 minutes.

    So far, American service is doing pretty good. But I would like American Home Shield to find the contractors in my town. The last contractor we had replaced our water heater and it went well. But they came out of Houston. So the only thing I'm having trouble with is the contractors. Right now, I'm supposedly getting my AC worked on.

    My AC went out on the 25th. American Home Shield did real good submitting the order in. But I'm having a problem with Houston Air Control. They came out on Friday and looked at the AC. The tech told me to give him till about Tuesday to Wednesday to get the information to American Home Shield. I needed some kind of part for it and he wanted to see if he needed to get it approved by American Home Shield. I got off the phone with Houston Air Control this morning, and the technician that went out still haven't submitted the work order. I called American Home Shield yesterday and I talked with the rep and he got it right on the case. He sent our order into Houston Air Control, told them what was going on and where was the work order.

    Everything that I have right now is a bad experience. I put in a plumbing claim and Hill Water Works requested us to buy the parts ourselves but I have no idea about plumbing. They did not tell me what kind of part. We bought the parts the best we can to fit whatever they needed. But it didn't fit so we had to request again. Now, they're giving us a hard time and not coming back to complete the job. This is a couple of weeks already. I called American Home Shield four times. They said that Hill Water Works was going to call me back to make a schedule to come back. But they never called me. I expect them to call me today but I still haven't received any call.

    I recommend to people to get AHS because it helps with some appliance situations that could be costly. When I had a problem with the refrigerator, American Home Shield couldn't help me because it was a design flaw. So, all they could tell me was, “Empty your refrigerator and the freezer, turn it off for three days and then turn it back on, and you won't have the problem.” And it was true. I did that last year and now it's happening again. And they did write out a report saying that this was a design flaw from Samsung, so that way, if I wanted to reach out to Samsung directly and figure it out with them, I could. I also knew going in that they can't cover the entire refrigerator.

    The techs they've sent out have all been good, too. We had problem with the icemaker in the freezer and when the guy came to come fix it, he said that it needed a $500 part. But all I paid was $45 for the service call, and the $45 a month. The warranty also helps with plumbing. But when when you want to contact them, the first thing you get is the international. And it's so hard to get ahold of them or for them to understand what you're going through here because they don't know how it works here. So, I wish that they would have more representatives in America to talk to.

    American Home Shield should cover more things like your flat screen TV. It's in your home, it's an appliance. They should cover it. They have some things which they say they don't cover. If it's a home warranty, they should cover everything. The last time, this guy came out to fix my plumbing. And he said I needed a new stopper in my bathroom sink. That's part of the plumbing. It's a part of the sink. He shouldn't even have to call AHS and ask them. That irritated me. I've had that done before and they just went ahead and replaced it. But he fixed everything.

    The service fee is going up. When I first got the policy, it was $35. Now, it's 75, which is not too bad because getting things replaced can be really expensive. So, it's worth it. But there's one thing that bothered me about them now. At first, you could pay the service fee when the person came out. Now, they take the service fee when you put in the request. And this time, I called them on the 7th of July to have my issues looked at. Usually, within that day or the next, they have somebody scheduled or calling me. I didn't have anybody come out until the 27th.

    My thing was just sink, plumbing, and toilet. But the people that came out are air conditioning, heating, and plumbing. So, they were backed up. AHS kept telling me, “You're in the queue. We don’t have anybody scheduled.” But they shouldn’t take the service fee out until somebody actually comes out. That has bothered me for the last couple of years since they changed that. But that's my only real complaint. They're reliable. The people that they send out know what they're doing.

    I have other family members who have American Home Shield, and they referred me to them. I have had AHS since ’20, and I really liked the service that, so far, I've gotten from them.     BAD SERVICE - I am really getting upset with AHS customer service. I have called 5 times to get a contractor to come to fix my AC. It's 91F and feels like 100F in my house right now. I have a elderly couple with me and I am concerned. I have called to request a service and the vendor said they will only come on Monday end of day. I cannot wait until Monday and AHS told me they do not have anybody else to send. The contractor says to come in 24 hours they need a request from AHS to expedite the request. AHS has said they have requested twice by email, but the contractor is saying they have not received. I requested to be copied on the email to the contractor, and AHS said they cannot do that. I am stuck and HOT. Why a simple request is not being resolved. I do not know who to talk to. I NEED A RESOLUTION!!!!

    I bought an American Home Shield warranty because I had one about 10 years ago and it was wonderful. Curently I have had the worst experience with the service. My A/C went out on my 1st floor a month ago and I live in Glendale, Arizona so it is very hot. The AHS Rep put in the request and a 3rd party was contacted. The A/C company, Same Day Air told me that my A/C Thermostat needed to read over 90 degrees for it to be considered an emergency. I responded that not only are both of my floors reading over 90 degrees but my house is filled with 2 people on disability - Multiple Sclerosis and a 3 month Liver Transplant person, plus 4 children ages 5 - 9. SDA told me it would be sometime the next week but they would try to help, 6 days later, I called AHS and they contacted SDA to request a date.

    The SDA company gave the AHS Rep a date. I received a text after the call. The next day a very nice serviceman came to the house and performed an inspection. He said we needed the board that tells the unit what to do. I received a text saying Thanks for using AHS. I contacted SDA to say the service was not complete. SDA says only a licensed contractor could find the parts. A week later and no contact, I called SDA, the male rep said they cant get a call back from the parts store.

    I called AHS, they said it will be another 24 - 48 hours for them to call SDA to get an update. After I explained to the rep that I need someone to tell me something sooner than that timeline, they hung up on me. Yes American Home Shield's Rep hung up on me. I said to the rep, I have not called you out of your name, hollered or used bad language but you choose not to help me. That is when they hung up.. I called back 2 hours later and asked for the Corporate number or a manager or supervisor. The nice lady answered, I am only in sales and do not know of any other numbers. No one will help me and the AHS Commercials keep coming on the Television. Frustration to say the least!! Please help me!

    American Home Shield keeps us from having a big repair bill happening to us unexpectedly. The reps respond very quickly. I either get an email back or they call me. There was a electrical outlet that the circuit breaker fault connector wasn't working right and the contractor came in and replaced that. The techs were very fast, polite and professional.

    We haven't had any problems in a while but when we first had AHS, there were some plumbers that came from Watervliet and they weren't the most friendly people. They did the job well but they were very direct and kinda condescending. Other than that, we've had people come in for the furnace as well as other electricians. We've had some plumbing done too. All of those seem to have been very nice people and got the job done. We had the range fixed and they were very quick. A lot of times, on a couple of them, they came the same day. It wasn't a emergency and we could have lived without having whatever was going on.

My house is cool. The first one was a little lengthy, but the unit was older. So, it took a little longer to find a part. I had a lesser plan, initially, so it cost me extra money the first time. The second time, I was in a position where I renewed my plan the month before, and I upgraded it, and that didn't cost me anything. So, I was more than satisfied. I like not worrying about repairs ‘cause repairs can get very costly very quickly, and it can add up. Before you know it, you're out three, four or five grand.

    My disposal wasn't working and the water was backing up in the sink. I can never pull up the page where I can self-service to do my claims. So, I have to call in and it's just frustrating. The contractors do the job but I like someone who's a bit more polished to come in. But AHS probably chooses the cheapest option.     American Home Shield is very responsive. If you have a problem, they'll fix it. It’s worth it and you get what you pay for. You get the coverage. Any time I have a problem, I go online and tell them what the problem is. In a couple of minutes, they have somebody to come and take care of it. I used the warranty when our ceiling fan was not responding to the remote and it only turned one speed. It was supposed to have three speeds. Technicians came out and they did the job. The ceiling fan was defective and when the technicians got here, all they really had to do was check out the one that was there then they replaced it with the one I bought. They then cleaned up after themselves. I was satisfied.

    My refrigerator had been turning off all the time. I have one of those GFI plugins, and it’s kicking out the little button all the time. American Home Shield scheduled the technician with Sears. The tech cleaned the coil but the problem is somewhere else. He said the fridge was fine. I called an electrician on my own and the guy did so many tests. He said my electricals were fine so the problem is the fridge. So I'm trying to get another fridge. But right now, it's a problem because there are not many on the market.

    I had another claim too for the water heater. The techs fixed it and everything was fine. My other claim for my water dispenser took a little bit because they had to order it but I didn't have a problem. AHS did the job. They were polite and they did the appointment. The rep was really professional. But the third party, Sears, sucks.

    I submitted an air conditioning service request on the 11th of July and it's still unresolved. I have been speaking with American Home Shield agents every day for an hour since the 11th. I'd love to actually have somebody give me a call for a change. For this air conditioning issue, I got a contractor assigned by AHS. Quality HVAC showed up at the house on the 13th. They did the inspection, they called me with the diagnosis, and they said that they are going to send over the diagnosis to AHS for repairs. They also emailed me a copy of the diagnosis.

    It's gonna take a day or two days before AHS' approvals team sees the diagnosis and they would approve it or say that it has not been approved for whatever reason. That didn't happen. After two days, I kept on calling every day. I was told, "We haven't seen the diagnosis, and that we are reaching out to the contractor." The contractor told me all this time, they have sent the diagnosis multiple times. this kept on happening. I was playing the phone call game for the next eight days, where every day I was told that this has been escalated and somebody is gonna call. They have a special number with the contractor and they'll reach out to them. It went out for about 8 or 10 days. I asked if this issue can be escalated and AHS said that they don't know.

    When I asked them for a resolution, they said I can go ahead and hire my own outside service contractor. They sent me a form and gave me a lot of instructions about how to do the outside service authorization. They told me a number of the contractors I should stay away from because they are on some sort of a blacklist. I stayed away. I found a couple of the contractors and they were also all insured and licensed, just like the Quality HVAC guys that AHS sent. They came over and gave me the same estimate and the same diagnosis that the unit needs to be fixed and replaced.

    One of the contractors called and AHS uploaded all the information. They spoke with the outside service authorization teams at least four times. For some reason, AHS wasn't getting all the information so I ensured that they called AHS. AHS had all the information. This was on the 21st of July and we are only 11 days into this. On the whole, I will not be extending my AHS warranty after this expires and I'll let everybody know to stay away from them.

    If something breaks, they'll come out and fix it, and if they can't fix it, it'll be replaced. I sent in claims when my dishwasher wasn't working and my toilets were running. Then a contractor called me, notified me within the same day, and was able to come out to my home within a few days. They were very professional. They were great. The plumbing issue was corrected and then I had to get a new dishwasher, which a different company delivered.

    The first time I used American Home Shield, they claimed my furnace was torn up and didn't do anything about it, so I left it alone. The second time I used them this year, I got pretty good service. They charge $100 to come out and see what’s going. The day they had somebody come by to do the service, I wasn’t gonna be home, so we rescheduled. When the techs came, they found out what the issue was and fixed it. So far, American Home Shield works okay.

    Sometimes, it's pretty difficult to get to an agent. Also, AHS could get people who speak English. Some of the agents don't and it's like they're coming from another country. Other than that, the techs have been fine and with AHS, I save money on repairs. Service has been pretty good. One company came out, fixed my problem and my appliance broke again. The second company said they can't fix things because there's a national recall. So now, Samsung's coming out.

    We had a leak. I spoke with someone from American Home Shield and she was very professional. She understood everything I said and they expedited everything as quickly as they could. A tech that came had to find the leak and repair it. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The leak was fixed but he informed me that someone may have to come back because the water was still coming in slow. They had to replace some of the pipes because they may be clogged. I had to put that off and told the tech, "We will call you all back and let you know that he could come back out." If he's gonna be the same person, that'd be great because he already knows what's going on and how to fix the problem that's still going on.

    I'm really upset with American Home Shield right now because they were supposed to be calling me about my dryer. It's been over two months. A technician came in and there was a part that he said was supposed to be ordered. He took it and I waited for a week. I didn't hear from anyone so I called the company that was assigned to me. Their phone goes straight to voicemail. They don't even reply or call you. For the past three days, I've been calling American Home Shield asking them what was going on. I needed some updates. I was told that someone would call me within 24 to 48 hours. But no one has. As a matter of fact, I called them this morning to have someone call me and tell me when are they are gonna fix my dryer. They don't have any answer for that. Now I'm about to get the Better Business Bureau involved because I pay American Home Shield $65 every month and that's not right.

    This is the first time that we went through American Home Shield. We have been paying them for almost a year now. This is a bad impression if this is how they go through claims. I was gonna recommend them to my nephew who just bought a house and my parents. But I just told them, “No, please don't do it, because I don't want any problems.” I would not recommend them to anyone right now.

    I like American Home Shield. The two times that I've used it worked out very well. The first claim was on my AC unit, and it ended up being one of the fans on the outside unit. The guy had the part with him and he was able to replace it right then and there in less than an hour. The second time we had was also on the AC unit. Living in Las Vegas, that's important. The tech was able to determine that the issue was in the attic. One of the fans inside the unit went out, and he had the part, replaced it and we were good to go in less than an hour there as well. American Home Shield does a good job of vetting their contractors.

    Going online to request service, I've never had an issue with anybody coming out. The hardest part is if you do have an issue and you need to call in, you're on hold forever. But recently, I have not had to do that. When the pool pump was leaking, the contractor had to come out a second time to fix it. But the tech was wonderful. Also, I didn't have to pay $2,500 to get a new pool pump.

    Service is fairly okay. I try to get the same contractor that has come out and fixed before but AHS switches a lot of contractors. But I keep the service 'cause it's affordable and they got better when they have come out. I also keep the warranty because of my air conditioning unit which is one of the most important things 'cause we live in Phoenix Arizona.

    I like their contractor Sub Zero. The tech showed me that my AC was leaking oil. It had been worked on 90 days before he came and he found the issue would have been recurring. He did a good job. Ever since he changed the capacitor, the AC blows colder. Overall, the warranty is serving its purpose.

    The garage door didn't open or close completely. It's stuck halfway. The techs had to replace some mechanism in the garage door and they fixed it. AHS is pretty quick to answer your call and get people who can come to your home and fix the problem. The deductible is a bit high but as long as they give good service, I'm pleased.

    I used American Home Shield a few weeks ago and it worked out well. The tech came, checked what was going on and fixed it. The only other thing was I had a washing machine bust on me about a week ago, and I was trying to get clarity in terms of the discount program but then they pool wherever vendors that they purchase from and see what kind of deals I get at that point.

    I requested service online and American Home Shield referred me to one of the contractors for the air conditioning units. Referring me to the contractor went pretty quick. But in terms of the contractor, they weren't really getting back to me as quickly as I would have liked. So I ended up calling them. Had I not called them, I would have been waiting longer than what I would have liked to get an appointment.

    I did call back to American Home Shield and talked to a representative about if there were any other contractors that might be able to get out faster, and the rep put me on hold and he did the research. He said there wasn't any other that were going to be any faster. But in terms of what American Home Shield did, it was fine. Once the guy did come out, it was fine. He took care of everything pretty quick.

    This is our second year with American Home Shield, and it has been good. We ran into some hiccups where we had trouble getting in touch with people. In the end, it all worked out. Primecast Plumbing is on their way back out right now because they scratched the sink. I'm not upset with them. They're addressing it. It was the other company on the West Bank that we went round and round with and when they finally came out to fix the issue, it was working. In the end, it's been a good experience. I would renew AHS again.

    Joe's Mechanical is excellent. But I've been trying to get my air conditioner done for a month and a half. It should not take that long. That is unacceptable. I'm 60 years old. I have a CPAP machine. I don't understand why it would take so long for American Home Shield to give an approval. Joe's Mechanical took my unit apart, was able to look at it and tell me that the wires were burnt. They even looked at my heater and said things were wrong with that. But American Home Shield sent out the Three Kings. They are scam artists. American Home Shield needs to fire them. They tried to get $450 from me to put freon in.

    I have a premium contract with American Home Shield so they shouldn't even try to attempt to tell me to pay anything. But if I would have given them that 400 and something dollars, they would have took it and ran. Plus, they released the doggone freon out of my air conditioning system. When I went back later on that night, I had nothing in there. If they tried to do me like that, they did somebody else like that. The only reason I know is there was a guy that American Home Shield sent out a couple of months prior to that and he said my unit was fine. Then when they came out, I don't know if they blew that wire but they didn't even hook the stuff back up.

    American Home Shield tried to send out R&L, but they never answered. They never called them. They never called me. They never did anything. American Home Shield will lie to you and say, "We're gonna call you back." They never called back. They're liars. They're scam artists too. It'll be a different thing if I paid them monthly. But I paid them the whole year and I still got treated like crap. When I asked for my money back, they told me they would give me a third of my money.

    Recently, there was a leak in our shower. The guy was great. Very professional. He came out before because I remember the folks that are very good. He did exactly what was expected in a professional manner. There are certain things that have bumps in the road with the contractors, but they are usually worked out. I have recommended American Home Shield a number of times, but folks don't realize that you got to pay a little to get a lot later on down the line. But I have the warranty for when something goes wrong in the house, I make the claim, and AHS does their part. So, I'll make sure my autopayment is available.

    There was a leak underneath the sink in the first-floor bathroom. The techs weren't able to come for at least two days. So we waited. The tech let me know he was on his way and he fixed the problem. With AHS, I like the assurance that if something major happens, I know who to call.     There was a problem with the motor of the garage door opener. I had one vendor come out first and they couldn't fix it, so then AHS sent Haro and they came right away. The part they put in lasted about 20 days to get here but I understood that there's a delay right now on parts. Once they got the part, the garage door opener got repaired.

    I've had two or three A coils that had to be replaced in my air conditioner. Granted that it cost me money for the Freon because they changed all that around. But as far as the labor, it was a godsend. A new air condition unit costs you $8,000 to $10,000. They just replaced part of it, but it helped me out a lot. But I liked Myers better than I did this other company. Myers seemed a lot more professional and not as dismissive about concerns that I had. I did a claim for the microwave and I used the new thing that American Home Shield had where I did a video call. It was pretty, pretty helpful. I like that part. The guy that came out took care of the problem within 10 minutes. It was super professional and really nice.

    The hinges on the microwave’s door were still attached but the door fell to pieces. My wife did the paperwork online with American Home Shield and the contractor called and did a video chat.     Appliance Plus was awful. First, they looked at the dryer and said it needed a part. They ordered that, came back with it and said the dryer was fixed. When I used it again, it worked for one cycle and then stopped working. So, they came again. They said it was the same issue and they said it was fixed. After I used it for one cycle, it stopped. I contacted AHS and waited a whole week. Neither American Home Shield nor Appliance plus contacted me. I reached out to AHS again and they said they were going to send someone from Sears.

    The tech called me and asked what the issue was. I proceeded to tell him the issue and the part that the first contractor ordered which was a fuse. He said, "Normally, the only thing that's going to trip that fuse is if the lint is clogged up." Appliance Plus had not told me that at first. When they had scheduled a second time, the lady I spoke to after scheduling the appointment explained to me that sometimes, lint might be clogged in the duct. After the third time that the dryer wasn't fixed, my husband and I unclogged the vent and it was full of lint. I told the Sears tech that my husband and I had cleaned the vent.

    My issue with AHS is that the gentleman who came out all three times was a young kid who liked like he was right out of school. I told AHS after the first time that I would rather have a senior technician come. The only senior technician Appliance Plus had was going to take weeks to come out to my home. I said to AHS, "Just get another appliance company out to my house." They said that they couldn't send somebody because the ticket was already put in which is ridiculous. They should change that situation. Also, they should have taken my suggestion to send either a senior technician or a different company out that had a senior technician. It's been over a month now that I haven't had a dryer and I'm very upset.

    There’s been a problem with the air conditioner. The claims process with American Home Shield was a little painful and confusing because there are some communication issues between the air conditioner company and how they're wording stuff and American Home Shield’s interpretation. It kind of became a little cluster that we had to sort out because they were a little incompetent on dealing with it. The air conditioner finally got handled, but it took several calls from us to the air conditioner company and American Home Shield to resolve the problem. The previous claims we've had weren't as bad. It's just they're frustrating to deal with because there's always some catch and they always find some way to explain to you that they don't cover certain things. What you believe was supposed to be covered is not fully covered, and it's a little aggravating.

    My air conditioning was making a bunch of racket and I thought it was getting ready to break. The noise was so loud. I called American Home Shield and they gave me one company and but that company refused. They said they couldn't get to me for four weeks and I didn't feel that was satisfactory. I called back to American Home Shield, told them my issue and that the contractor refused to give me a sooner date. American Home Shield indicated they would contact them but they didn't get any response on them also. So, we canceled that order, then AHS set me up with Seabolt and they got right to me. Their techs said that it wasn't the problem that my neighbors indicated. It was just a loose bolt and they handled it. The AC has been working great since then.

    My HVAC system shut down. The first time technicians came out, they didn't find anything wrong. The second time someone came out, the unit was fixed. The technician was fine. He was young and seemed low-key. He may have been new and that may have been his first time out. I got the feeling that he wasn't fully experienced with what was going on. It seemed like he was pulling at things to figure it out instead of knowing exactly what happened. I asked him a question and he answered but it didn't feel like it was with a lot of knowledge.

    I had other claims with American Home Shield and they were fine. The people came and explained things more. They had much more experience like they've been doing this for a while. On the whole, American Home Shield is great and it would save a lot of money. I can just call and know that somebody's going to come and do what they need to do instead of doing things on my own and fishing around for people and estimates.

    There was water that was leaking from the back of our refrigerator. The techs thought they were going to do a part and it was something from the icemaker. But when they came back out after they got the part, they didn't know what was going on. They said the refrigerator wasn't going to be repaired because that part wasn’t what they thought it needed. So, we're going to have to get a newer fridge. American Home Shield sent the information through email that we have to go online and select the refrigerator that we want and that's where we are right now. We've had major things happen over the years, where it may have been a furnace or our heat wasn't working, and we've always been able to use AHS. And whatever it was that they needed, we know we needed to have done. If they can repair the issue, they will and it's really good because we're not just stuck and not knowing what's going to happen.

    The claim for the electrical issue was wonderful. For the first time ever, everything in my box flipped off and we had a brownout. I wanted to make sure that whatever surge came through didn't do any damage. American Home Shield expedited it and a guy came out, looked at it and said that we were good. However, I don't know what happened with the ice maker. I got charged for a service that didn't happen and I never got my refund back. I had canceled it with the provider, and they were supposed to correct that, but that never got resolved.

    I put the request in on June 21st and it just got fixed yesterday. I waited almost a month before I had a service done because the contractor closed out my case and didn't finish the job. I was calling back and forth and I had to call three times in a row and speak to three different people before it got resolved. The contractor said, "We started, but we accidentally closed your ticket out." Then I had to remind them of what they were supposed to do. They rescheduled to come out that next Wednesday. When they didn't come, I figured they didn't get the part. But they would have at least called me. Three weeks out, I was calling and they said the claim was closed. How could it be closed when they didn't fix anything?

    I've been with American Home Shield for five years and I'm starting to have issues. I told them, "If you guys are gonna make me pay for a service that didn't happen, I might as well go ahead and cancel you. I can take whatever money I'm giving you go into savings for when somebody comes out." But I like the comfortability. I have an older home and when things happen, they happen in threes. It started with the plumbing, then the electrical then the ice maker. The reps try to be friendly. They're very attentive when they're on the phone. But what I truly dislike is if you say you're going to call me back, call me back, or at least email me because you have my email on file. But when I hear nothing and have to wait till the end of the day to follow back up with a person who said they're going to call me back and don't, I have a problem.

    My garage door is not working, and when the garage people came out, they said it was electrical. I had the electrical team come out, and they said it was the motor, which this repairman said a few minutes ago is the motor. He's got to report back to American Home Shield before before they can come out and repair it. With a home warranty, I don't have to pay the high price of calling in a separate company, and so far, everything has been on top. Customer service has been fine. I had one problem with a carpet cleaner that I went through American Home Shield though. They didn't do a good job then they came back. The guy tried to tell me my carpet was too old and it didn't look good, and I told him my carpet was three years old now. I got it to American Home Shield, but they said they were a different company. So I dealt with it.

    My garage door claim went fine. On a different claim, I requested a full service thing, and the company that came said they'll contact American Home Shield and come back to finish the job. They were waiting on getting approval from American Home Shield for certain parts. However, they haven't come back and they're not answering their phone, so my experience has not been great thus far. Overall, having American Home Shield saves costs in certain big items, but whether their providers come on time or call you back, there's no consistency in them. It would be nicer if they have contractors who are more reliable.

    I tried that new deal that AHS has where they send me a link and I show them what the damage is so they could forward it to the plumber. But it wasn't a plumbing problem. It was an HVAC problem. They transferred it back and that guy was excellent. He told me exactly what it was. He said, “But I can't be for sure. I'm a plumber, not an HVAC guy.” But he said he knew what the problem was. So they forwarded my claim to an HVAC guy. They came out and lickety-split, had it done. Explained to me the whole way, what was going on and why this happened. It was really nice and very informative. Spoke in layman's terms where I could understand what he was saying.

    When I submitted a claim, I got a confirmation, and it said that the company would call me or I could call them. So I called them, because it's super hot right now, and they said, “We'll be there tomorrow, but more likely around 3:00 or 4:00.” “So, okay. That's fine.” The techs came and the lady from their office reached out to me that they were there and no one was at the door.

    I take care of my mom who's 95 years old and has dementia, and she lives in 15 minutes away from me. I said, “I can be there in 20 minutes. I can do that.” Or else, I said, “I give you guys the authorization to get on top of the roof if it’s not possible.” She told me, “Yeah. Let me check.” She said, “They'll do that.” When I got home an hour later, thank God the air was working. I called the lady and said, “Wow! That was quick. I got here and they weren’t even here.” She said, “Yeah. It was something simple. It was the capacitor.” This company did an excellent job because they helped me out real quickly and I'm glad they waited for me.

    I have seen the bad reviews of American Home Shield and I said, “It all depends on everybody's situation.” Right now it’s a time where those type of guys are super busy so I understand. When my microwave went out, another company came to see if it was fixable, and they said no. They had to replace it, but the guy that came was an idiot and not a people person. He was rude and talked about other companies, and I said, “Oh, my God.”

    I paid 125 and told American Home Shield that the garage wasn't working. They assigned somebody who knew what he was talking about. He was telling me everything he was doing and was very thorough. I asked him, “Are you the owner?” He said yes. I didn't know that the whole time. He never said it. He was just very professional and on point. We've been with American Home Shield for years and sometimes, you get different people. I like to keep the same people. I had never experienced him but he is a person that if I have a garage issue, I'm gonna request for him to come.

    I had a Home Warranty with AHS from 1995-2001 and they were wonderful to work with. When my dishwasher broke down and they couldn't repair it, they replaced it. When I needed any repairs on covered items, the trip charge was well worth it saving me a lot of frustration and money. Based on my previous experience there was no question I would use AHS on my next home. Today's AHS is nothing in comparison to then. It's now a HUGE SCAM! They advertise that they cover items 100% under "normal wear and tear" Yet, I've ended up having to replace a Furnace, a Garbage Disposal Unit, and now a Hot Water Heater costing me $$$thousands. All of these items were older yes, but in great working condition until they couldn't be repaired anymore.

    I paid numerous $75 trip charges for repairs that didn't last then had to purchase the new units at full price. The reason they declined to cover was "normal wear and tear"! It literally contradicts exactly what they say they cover in your contract word for word. BUYER BEWARE. If you choose this company go directly to your bathroom and start flushing $75 plus your contract amount down the drain. They do not care about anything but scamming you out of your hard earned money. I've been had so please heed my warning.

    I opened a claim for my refrigerator and freezer that was not cooling at all on May 23, 2022. AHS sent out a company that came out on two different occasions saying they cannot fix. Then sent out another company with 3 different technicians who would come to my home on 6 different occasions to replace parts and fix my refrigerator - one working on it until 1:30am the next morning. My freezer is now working but the refrigerator still is not cooling properly. They then sent another company to diagnose the problem and he said he cannot fix it. It has been over NINE weeks without a refrigerator and a family feed and they are still trying to send another company. I have tried to speak to supervisor or escalations department but no one calls back. I don't understand how they can be so heartless and not care about people living without a major appliance such as refrigerator. When will enough be enough?

    I signed up with this company after reading the positive reviews, there was no "home inspection required" and you didn't have a waiting period for service calls. I had the policy for about a month (first discrepancy) and filed a claim for a water valve leak (from my hot water knob in the shower). After I paid the required $75 service fee call, AHS assigned a technician to come out. The company they assigned A Water Solutions contacted me to schedule an appointment and we waited for a technician. When the tech came out, he was NOT friendly nor interactive. We showed him the source of our problem and expected him to provide a written diagnosis within a few days. We did not receive that and life happened.

    Eventually, I called into the AHS to find out what our options were. The AHS rep said they don't cover pipes (which was the source of our issue according to the tech). I explained to her that was NOT what precipitated our problem and that it was a leaky valve stemming from the hot water. She indicated that was NOT what she had in her system and that because it was a pipe issue, it would not be covered. I asked her to explain to me where that was/is in the contract and she could not find it and said she would call me back after she consulted with her supervisor. I provided her with a good phone number to call me back and I did NOT receive a call back.

    I called back today only to receive the runaround on what AHS could not do. Let's be honest. If your a company with resources, you ARE capable of making things happen. The new representative from AHS was not listening to my questions and sounded like a robot every time I asked a question. She told me that the previous technician said that our issue was NOT "normal wear and tear" and they would not cover our issue because it was preexisting. I explained to her that didn't make any sense since we purchased the home used and it was NOT a new build. I asked her to explain to me that since we have an older home would they cover anything else that breaks down since it's all considered "pre-existing" and she told me no.

    I told her with that, we need to cancel our contract and discontinue this police effective immediately. She said she needed to place me on hold and get a hold of a different department to do that. I was placed on hold for over an hour with no resolution. I would NOT recommend this company unless you have a new build and our thoroughly read and understand the contract in its entirety.

    I had problems with my air conditioning system, the technician arrived and after reviewing everything, he explained that he would change the compressor but that I had to pay $845.00 out of pocket.

    And then I checked the equipment that was going to be installed, it is on Amazon, new for $1,050, so, I called the technician to ask for: the brand, the model and if the compressor will be a NEW ONE, and he sent me this: "American Home Shield orders the compressor, it's a re-manufactured scroll. Arrco is company they order from."

    So as you will see American Home Shield uses rebuilt parts without any factory warranty, this is terrible, and also they are charging you for the whole work because that rebuilt part is not worth more than $400.00 and they are charging $850.00. And also the discount that you see there is not from the company that will do the repair! It is a $10.00 discount that AHS gives for every 10 pounds of refrigerant that is used.

    Our AC unit was acting up and we put a request in. The gentleman came out and heard the noise but said that there was nothing we could do until it completely goes out. Two weeks later, it went out. We put another request and it was another $75. The guy refused to answer the phone and I had American Shield call. They said they were going to expedite my claim but nobody called me back. We ended up having to pay out of pocket $500 for a fan motor. It was an all-day affair and really frustrating. But that was the only bad experience I've ever had with a contractor that AHS sent out. The tech who came after that bad one was wonderful. He was very pleasant and professional, and he got everything fixed.

    There was a leak that was coming from my toilet dripping into my garage. I caught it a few days prior and the contractor was out here within two days of me putting the request in to American Home Shield, which was awesome. The repair guys were a little bit late for the appointment but the company had called me ahead of time. When they got here, they apologized for being a little bit late and were nice to talk to. They were quick, efficient, friendly and professional. They moved fast and fixed the issue within 15 minutes max.

    I thoroughly enjoy American Home Shield, especially being as the house I purchased is a little bit older. So, I knew going into it that the appliances were going to need maintenance. And I personally don't have the know-how for a lot of things, like HVAC. I’ve used American Home Shield since I got the house and everything I've had a problem with has been quickly repaired. The only time I’ve ever had an issue was with the HVAC. The technicians for that one thought they had fixed it but they ended up coming back out here within a week and a half to do another repair. I was out of AC for a month but American Home Shield didn't charge me anything extra for the numerous times coming out, which I appreciated, because it would have sucked having to pay for every single time they came out.

    I had one issue earlier this year and I still haven't had it resolved. I put in a request for an AC tune-up and they never scheduled it, and then sent me a thing saying that they didn't have any technicians available. Then, I didn't hear anything back at all. But everything's going well. If I put in a request, I usually hear back within a short period of time. I've had zero problems with American Home Shield.

    Sometimes our air conditioner wasn't working properly. The tech asked me to show him what was going on and I relayed it to him firsthand. He went outside to look at the AC unit and opened it up. He saw that a particular part was over its period and he said, "That's probably the problem." He checked everything else and made sure the fuse was good. He got a new part, put it in and it was all good.

    The plumber that came out did an excellent job. The issue was something so simple. Whoever did the bathroom, when they put the shower head on, before they twist the shower head back on, they should have put epoxy inside of the ridges so when they turn the shower head back on, it would fill it. It was the same thing for the spigot in the bathtub. It was not sealed, so whenever we would pull the handle up to turn the shower on, the water was shooting back through the wall and coming down on the side of the tub. Once the plumber came in and put that on, I asked, "How long do we have to wait?" He looked at me like, "Wait? What?" He turned the water on, and it was flowing everywhere it was supposed to. That was great, and I was very impressed.

    On the other hand, the key change with Pop-A-Lock didn't go as smooth as it could have. We had a 10 o'clock appointment, and the young man texted at 10 o'clock saying that he would be there at 10:30. At 10:30, he texted and said his GPS said he was 20 minutes away. Normally, people give a reason, but when he got there, he didn't even give a reason. He was also in a rush, and the lock on one of my doors did not get changed. Right now, we're dealing with the refrigerator and everything is going good. The young lady that I spoke to yesterday was excellent with helping. The order had not gone in seeing that the refrigerator needed to be replaced, but she made a phone call, had me on hold, then came back and said, "I got what I need. We're gonna go ahead and send out the email so you can go ahead and choose your refrigerator." Thus far, American Home Shield's service has been great.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield can be easy. It can be done online, which is pretty straightforward. But the ability to speak to someone is the problem. Their call service is a program that’s open 24 hours a day, which is great. The biggest issue is there is not a direct line. Anytime something's wrong, you have to call and wait on hold. Sometimes I've been on hold 45 minutes and I've been on hold as long as an hour and a half. The greatest frustration is that you do not get someone whose primary language is English. So there's a language barrier.

    Sometimes I've had some representatives that it was not their first language, but they were easy to understand and they were good. Then there were some that you could clearly tell that they were reading from a script. So you could get very frustrated very fast and say, “Please stop reading from the script.” Or I’d ask to speak with their supervisor. But they would immediately go to the script because it’s scripted. So it’s hard to communicate.

    Usually, when I need to get something done, I have to call and speak to quality control or retention services at American Home Shield. A lot of times, I’ve had appliances break down and they come in and fix it. But I’ve also had appliance break down and they come in and say, “Oh, well, there’s been an update to that under the protocol or new builder’s thing, and now, this is required.” So I’ve had to pay $300 out of pocket on top of the service fee, yet they still fixed one part of it. In some ways, it can be misleading.

    Earlier this year, I had an issue with a refrigerator in my rental property. I went online and placed the servicing that evening. Within an hour, I had a vendor who I reached out to. The vendor set up the time and then they went by and fixed the issue. I paid $100 for that service trade agreement. But for what we had, it was more all-encompassing, so it was $100. Now, the flip side of that is I don’t know if what the person came and did cost $100 or $35.

    When my dishwasher was broken in my rental property, the call was placed on January 6th and the contractor came out. They allegedly fixed it. But the next day, it still wasn’t working. They had to come back out and tried something else. It still wasn’t working. It wasn’t until the end of March before that dishwasher was replaced. So that was frustrating because that was for my renter. If that would have been in my home, would I have allowed it to go? It wasn’t life-altering, but it was definitely an inconvenience. Since it wasn't life-altering, American Home Shield kept giving the runaround. It’s not always straightforward.

    American Home Shield has saved me. They paid for the hot water heater. But I also had to pay out of pocket for them to do an update that was required because it wasn’t up to code based on when the hot water heater was entered when the house was built. So you think you’re gonna be okay but then you’re not, and that’s frustrating. It's that fine print.

    My greatest dissatisfaction with American Home Shield is that there’s not an email. I had emailed them before, and I’ve never received a response. Even if you click chat, it doesn’t go to chat. If you click on the website that says, “Contact Us”, there should be multiple ways but the only option is a phone number. So you call and wait on hold. If I’ve ever want to get anything done, I don’t call to ask about a repair, but I call to speak to a new plan. Then I get somebody who answers the phone on the new plan side. Those are very quick to answer because they’re wanting more business. From there, I say, "I need to speak to somebody in the retention service, and quality control.” But that’s wrong. You shouldn’t have to do it. There should be an email support.

    Most recently, I got an email notice that I had a payment that was outstanding due, which didn’t make sense because my payments are automated monthly for the service, and then any time there’s a trade service call, that’s an automatic deduction. It comes right out of the account you set up for them to dispatch a vendor to go out and do the call. When I looked at the email that they sent, it said, “Pay it online.” But I couldn’t get any other information except to call. So I had to call and wait on hold. The young lady who answered was in the Philippines. She spoke very well. She was able to communicate. There wasn’t much of a language barrier. But I laughed because the whole time, you hear these chickens cackling in the back.

    We are getting ready to sell the rental property that we have and I’m trying to figure out, “If I renew it, am I on the hook? If I cancel a month later, am I on the hook for the whole year? Or how does that work?” But I can’t get anybody to answer. So I’m really torn because I don’t want to cancel it before I sell the house because Murphy’s Law.     The bottom cabinet next to the dishwasher had all these Walmart sacks that I was hanging on to. When I went to clear it out, I noticed the mold and the saturation in the bottom of that cabinet. So that was when I kicked off the phone call to American Home Shield and all was great. They got me in the books. The contractor came by and after they took pictures of under my house, the tech and the American Home Shield person had a long conversation together and then they told me that they were not gonna cover anything. Also, I requested for the contractor to forward the pictures to me but they still haven't.

    It was very frustrating because they put it in a category of a modification and not a repair. They told me that the reason why they're wanting to classify it as a modification is that they're using this different piping solution called Apex. I have corroded galvanized steel that needs to be yanked out, and they're gonna put Apex in. It is supposed to expand five times its size and then go back to its normal size so there are not too many issues in the future with it.

    I had a favorable experience with Home Shield. I used their service for my AC and the guy that came was really good. He was with Air Tech. He said the issue was with the part that supplies the power to the compressor. When that little part failed, the unit quit working. The disappointing thing that he told me at the end was that when he works with a customer and there happens to be another problem that he can also fix, American Home Shield assigns somebody else instead of assigning the same guy to do it. My thing is if the guy comes and I really liked him and he knows what he's doing, I would like for the same guy to come again.

    The thing with Air Tech is there are a couple of guys that are principal owners of that business. I couldn't find out anything about them and this made me ask, “Who are these fly-by-night people that Home Shield has put me up with here?” There was a phone number so I called and the guy I spoke with said he didn't know why he got the claim because he was in Atlanta. I live close to Augusta, Georgia. The guy said he had a partner who lives in Thomson, which is 20 miles from here. He gave me his partner's number. I called him and he goes, “I see it on the work order. I'll see you Monday morning or Tuesday morning.” I had to go a roundabout way to find out who to call and when they were coming. But as far as the guy and his abilities and how he fixed the unit, all that was very favorable. I was extremely pleased with the technician that came here. He was top-notch.

    When I first started with AHS 20 years ago, they did not have the best repairpeople. Now, they have really fine repairpeople. The standard has gone up which is great. My service has been fine. If you go through all of the steps that they put in place for you to have whatever repaired or replaced, they will see to it that it will be fixed like new or they'll replace it. They've done things that a lot of warranty companies would not do. I've been extremely pleased with them. The only complaint I have is sometimes, what we might consider an emergency, they don't really look at as an emergency, and it might be two weeks before somebody comes to fix the issue.

    However, I have an issue with the $100 co-pay that I paid on a different credit card and AHS says I haven't paid them even though I sent proof. I'm not really happy with that and I have a dispute open.

    We had an issue with our last claim for a washer and dryer. The contractor that American Home Shield used ordered a bunch of parts, but they would never come out and install them. I kept going round and round with both AHS and the contractor but nobody ever came and installed. So, I just gave the parts away and paid another repair shop to fix the washer and dryer. Other than that, they're using quick with getting a contractor out. I've never had to wait more than a couple of days for somebody to come.

    Four weeks ago, I requested for AC service and the company didn't have anybody for at least two weeks. So, I had to cancel the appointment. But I still had been charged. Why would they charge me when nobody came. The appointment was taking two weeks and it was dragging long. I couldn't stay in the heat so I had to call somebody to fix it and I was hoping AHS could refund me on that service charge.

    We recently had a claim for the water heater and we had no problem with 2nd Opinion Plumbing. They came out right away and fixed it. But when our air conditioner went out, it was a nightmare. It took about a day and a half for the contractor to come and fix it. I told American Home Shield that they were still responsible for those vendors that they were dealing with. It was 90 degrees inside the house. We have two dogs and they couldn’t tolerate it. My husband has a lot of health issues. So we had to go to our daughter’s, and the dogs had to get boarded a couple of days while the contractor came out. When they came out to fix it, it took them 15 minutes to get us up and going.

    The hot water heater was not working. I looked at my contract with American Home Shield to make sure my hot water heater was on there. It was very easy to find and it was on there. I went to request to get it fixed. I tried to call American Home Shield initially but couldn't get through. I ended up doing the a claim online claim and the website is very easy to use. They had choices for what was the problem and it was, “no hot water.” I did that, sent sent it, and almost immediately I was told, “Okay. We got to fix up with the plumber.” Very quickly, the plumber called and said he had an opening and would be there in 30 minutes. That was fast.

    It turned out the thermostats were bad. He fixed those and I watched the whole thing. He sat there and went through what I checked. He double checked fuses too. He unplugged it from the wall and opened up the tube where the thermostats were on top and bottom. He used his meter to check to see if it was working. he said they were not working so he replaced them.

    I've only had positive experiences with American Home Shield. They had my dishwasher fixed and it's been doing great. I am very happy with my air conditioner repairs too. The technicians went a little above and beyond to sit there and show me what I needed to do. That was simple. This plumbing repair has been very good too.

    I always wanted to get home warranty coverage because my sister used to work in home warranty in Houston. And she says, “Always get home warranty coverage. You never know what's going to happen.” I had a new refrigerator and a new washer and dryer. But I still had all the other stuff which were pre-existing so I decided to go for a home warranty. I have not regretted it at all because it's so nice to know that I only pay 75 bucks and I will have a functioning appliance again.

    The contractor checked my refrigerator three times. It was leaking from the side. It cracked on the bottom liner of the refrigerator, it all leaked out and it's soggy on the one side. The gentlemen that came out the third time have never seen that before. There is no way to fix it. They are going to replace it. This is the first time I've had to have anything replaced in all these years. It was very smooth. American Home Shield was always able to fix something. The contractors came out right away and were on time. Even if I called on a Saturday, they would be there on a Monday or Tuesday, and were efficient.

    Hill Water Works was great. They did a good job. We had a leak in our pipe. They had to come out because the company that American Home Shield had originally sent out fixed the first thing fine. The second thing they tried to fix made it worse though. Then they refused to come back out. AHS said that they disconnected their phone, and then they wouldn't take emails anymore, and they couldn't get ahold of them anymore.

    Hill Water Works didn't want to fix it at first either because AHS was requiring them to pay for it out of their own pockets when we didn't even pay a service fee for them. So, we were like, “Someone needs to come out and fix it.” Hill Water Works was fine once they finally decided to eat the cost. They were telling us that if we pay for it that AHS might pay us back. Then if AHS didn't want to pay them, there's no way they are gonna pay us. We were like, “There's no way that's gonna happen.” They wanted to keep the contract with AHS, so they decided to do it out of their own pocket.

    I originally called for the faucet itself. They said it was not the faucet. It was the pipe that the showerhead is connected to. So, they fixed that. I was like, “I called for the faucet and the faucet is still leaking.” So, they fixed the thing that wasn't necessarily what I called for. I'm glad that they did fix that, but I also want my faucet, which is the thing I called about. Also, they told us they would give us the money back from the original service call for all the problems and we never got that $75.

    AHS really need to do some soul searching for their company. We decided to look up other companies and see what the ratings are, and AHS is one of the top three. They're losing ratings. It's a warning sign that the company isn't clearly taking care of their customers. I'd be surprised if they make it another five years if they don't do something.

    I called American Home Shield for my dishwasher that wasn't coming on at all. They worked with me ‘cause apparently, I gave the wrong account number. I didn't realize that the account number changes every year. I was kept informed through email and texts. By the time the repairman got here, it was a few weeks after I had called. At the time that they wanted to come out, we weren't going to be available because we were on vacation. It had already reset when we split the circuit breaker. It was a computer issue.     The best part of having the policy is the financial predictability that if something happens, we know it's gonna cost $75 and there are not going to be nasty surprises. We've had a couple of different issues. We had a faucet replaced and Safe Cali Plumbing came out. We had a claim for the shower and Bear Plumbing worked on that. There was some leaking from the showerhead and they replaced a valve, which fixed the problem. The technicians that come are almost always good. We've never had somebody we felt was not competent.

    AHS' claim process is usually easy. The only problem we had with the shower claim was we were first assigned to a company that said it was going to take them two weeks to come out. That was unusual for AHS. We called AHS back and asked if they could find someone who can do the work sooner. They referred us to a new company and we were able to get a technician in two days instead of two weeks. Another thing is it takes some time to get through to the call center occasionally. One time, it was 10 to 15 minutes on hold to get through. Again, that's fairly unusual.

    American Home Shield did an AC tune up at the beginning of the year that didn't do anything. But I've had other AC tune-ups that were good in other years. The people came out for the washer but then it wasn't fixed. But I couldn't just call the company to fix it. But it was easy to reopen and then there's a guy coming back out tomorrow. I'm overall liking the washer repair cycle.

    American's price keeps going up on me. But I can't complain about the service I get for any time that I've called them. When I called them about my refrigerator, within two days, someone was here. Also, when I called them about my microwave, within two days, someone was here. The companies they have sent have been great.

    When my microwave went out, the tech said, “It’s scorched, so you need another one.” The next day, I got an email from American Home Shield asking me what microwave I want. If I want a certain one, there would be no cost. If I want to upgrade, they gave me three different ones that ranged from $10 to $25. Two days later, that microwave was installed.

    Recently, my unit wasn't heating like it was supposed to heat. Also, I could have it set on 73 but it would stay on 76 and sometimes go to 77. During the day, it would cool off to 75 but that's the best that it would do. But at night, the house was burning up. Getting through to them was easy. I told the contractor what the problem was and I didn't take longer than 10 minutes on the phone with them. When the company came, I got the tech's card because he was really good.

    I've been with American Home Shield for three years. Every time I call in, they try to fix issues immediately. They have very good customer service. I called when my electricity was so messed up on my refrigerator. Someone came and actually fixed it in five minutes.

    The contractor was Quantum and they were here when they said they were gonna be. They were very informative and they took care of the AC problem immediately.
